(00:25):
The way tire buying should be busy Saturday night. As
the SEGA just told you, Yankees Guardians tied at two
late in that game. Looks like it is the bottom
of the eighth. Obviously, if the Yankees win, they would
advance to the World Series. Meanwhile, in Austin, Texas, Georgia
(00:46):
up thirty to fifteen. Jmart you know we got so
much to get into in the next three hours. Let's
just let's jump right into this Georgia Texas game. Uh,
Georgia's in control. There is still ten minutes left, jaymart Well,
we gotta talk about what just happened about twenty minutes
ago on the field, because if Georgia wins, it won't
(01:06):
be a big deal. But I think I just saw
something that I'm certain I've never seen before. And if
Texas somehow comes back and wins this game. I think it,
like I don't want to be hyperbolic. I think it
could be one of the biggest controversies we've seen in
a long time. So middle of the third quarter, there
(01:28):
is a play on the field where Georgia throws a pass.
It is intercepted by Texas and on the field it
is called a pass interference.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
Texas fans are not happy.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
They decide to throw stuff all over the field, which
is like the biggest no no in fandom. While Texas
is cleaning up the field, the refs overturn.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
They don't overturn.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
I mean they went back and said they have decided
that they're was not pass interference and that the interception stood.
Texas scored right after that. Now at the time, it
made it a one score game. Georgia has just scored since.
But Jmar, I think it's at least worth discussing this
off the top. It won't mean nearly as much if
Georgia holds on it. We'll cover this game quite a
bit when it goes final. But this feels like it
(02:20):
could if somehow Georgia were to lose this game. It
feels like it could be a thing. I have never
seen anything like this. By the way, so everybody knows
in college pass interference is not reviewable, unlike the NFL,
which obviously changed that role a few years ago. Where
were you when you found out that apparently all you
gotta do is throw a couple bottles on the field
(02:41):
to get calls over turned in college football, JMRT.
Speaker 4 (02:44):
So to your point, if Georgia wins, it's not gonna
be as big a deal in the immediacy. But what
this represents, this can't happen, like you can't allow this
because what fans is not going to try this the
next time there's a call that goes against their team
(03:04):
that they deemed questionable. If it's not reviewable, then something
had to be changed on the field, just like an
opinion change. And the only way that that possibly could
have happened is if during this, you know, just melee
and craziness where they're trying to figure everything out, and
there should have been a delay a game or all
these things. Because all the trash is running down on
(03:26):
the fields, Sarkisians running over there trying to tell the
fans to calm down. All of this stuff is happening
in real time, but we're seeing the replay over and
over again, and the call is not good. It's a
terrible call. By the way, the officials have been terrible
in this game.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
They've been terrible all day that Alabama Tennessee games out tattoo. Yeah,
but keep going, keep going.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
But they had to have just looked at the scoreboard
and seen the replays like that they were running in
the stadium. That can't be a thing like that. That's
not the way that it's set up to be. And
you can't hold a game hottage. And even if that's
not what I mean, that's not what the Texas fans
were doing. They were just ticked off. They didn't think
that was going to happen. But now, if you're watching
(04:08):
that and you're a fan base, why would you not
try that. They weren't penalized for delay, The team wasn't
penalized for any kind of unsportsman like. Yes, because of
what the fans were doing. There was no penalty to
Texas whatsoever. And then they overruled the call, which they
never would have done had they not had the time
to look at it. But it's not reviewable, so Kirby
(04:29):
smart lost his mind. Even though I think they got
the call right, in the end, they shouldn't have had
the opportunity to change it. They shouldn't have had the
opportunity to see it. They should have been reprimanded tomorrow
for getting a call wrong. But what this represents can't stand. Like,
they've got to come out tomorrow. They being the NCAA,
(04:49):
they've got to come out and they've got to change
this immediately and probably either penalize and or suspend this
officiating crew because they just opened up a can of
worm that simply cannot be opened.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
So I'm glad that you're taking it this direction because
I think, you know, anytime we talk about refs being
suspended or this or that, you know, I generally try
to err on the side of caution. I actually just
agree with you one hundred percent on this, because that's
the exact part that like, and I'm curious, like, you know,
if Georgia wins, George is up thirty to fifteen nine
minutes left again, if you're just joining us. There was
(05:24):
a controversial play in which Texas was Texas was called
for pass interference on an interception. UH Texas fans throw
bottles on the field. After they clean up the bottles,
they all the ref's ultimately say that they have decided
that it is not pass interference. Texas gets the ball,
Texas scores. And the point that J Mart is talking
(05:46):
about is so important is that, first of all, this
is this was my crazy thing, J Mart that like,
besides the fact that they overturned an unoverturnable.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
Call, is it Isn't it supposed to? There's got to
be it on sports, like conduct penalty to delay.
Speaker 4 (06:02):
There's got to be something. But I agree with you.
I mean, I think it should be on sportsman Like,
I know it's not the team, but the fans don't
have the right to hijack the football game. Well you
can't allow that.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
I seem to remember, I feel like, you know, and
we'd have to go back. I think so maybe you
would remember this that I was there the tennis call
then and talk to you because remember I had to
take the night off. Was Tennessee Old Miss so Tennessee
Old Miss Lane Kiffin's returned to Knoxville. I think that
was what the twenty one season, twenty two, I think
it was twenty one season. Okay, So really quick, So
(06:33):
tell me what. So I remember water bottles and golf
balls being thrown on the field, and that was before well,
I think the muster bottle where it was before the
Game one final. Obviously the golf ball was when Kiffin
was walking to the tunnel. But the other stuff happened
with time left on the clock, right yeah, okay, so
(06:53):
late late for fans as best do you remember? I know,
I'm kind of put you on the spot. There had
to have been I seem to remember. I don't want
to say vividly because I can't say with one hundred
percent certainty. I there was a penalty on Tennessee. We
can look this up in real time. But there had
to have been a penalty on Tennessee, which was I
think a lot of the reason why those why the
first wave of bottles came down, right.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
I believe that is correct? Check right?
Speaker 4 (07:17):
Well, yeah, look it up in real time. But there
were a lot of questionable calls. And this was the
night where ole Miss decided they're really going to do
up this injury thing. Sure, and so they're doing it
all night long, and hey, Hypel was countering and doing
it too. So both teams are doing it. But Ole
Miss is kind of the instigator of all this, and
there were some really close calls. This is a Matt
(07:37):
Corrall team. There were some really close calls all night long,
and the fans were just getting increasingly incensed, and they
finally just lost it started chucking things on the field.
I've still got a video on my phone from being
in the stands a couple of sections away from where
all of that was going on at the time, And
I do remember there being a penalty on Tennessee, but
(07:58):
we'll have to look it up to double check. But
if there wasn't, then that needs to change too, Like
you can't not penalize a team for its fans doing
something like the fans aren't playing, But the fans can't
also give the team an advantage either outside of just
being loud, like you want a heckle and all that stuff.
That's one thing, but you delayed the game, and somehow
(08:20):
the officials who in real time made a call just
all of a sudden overturned that even though they couldn't
go to a replay and there was no way that
the call could be reviewed because in college, like you said, pi'
is not a reviewable call. So even though they got
the call right, that doesn't matter. The principle is larger
than getting the call right in this one game. You're
(08:42):
gonna say, well, they got the call right, isn't that good? No,
it's not because of what it means going forward. And
I don't know why if you were a die hard
fan base in a major football game, why you wouldn't
try this. That's why they have to put the kebash
on it tomorrow. This needs to be the only time
we ever see this. Remember the Oregon Ohio State deal
(09:03):
last week. They changed that rule almost immediate as a
result of that, They're gonna do the exact same thing
here because this right here is well, it's dangerous first
of all because you're throwing stuff on the field, but
past that, fans cannot feel like they can influence the
outcome of the game by doing things like this.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
Yeah, so I'm looking right now, I actually do not see,
as best I can tell a penalty for Maybe there wasn't.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
Yeah, but it doesn't change the fact I think that I.
Speaker 4 (09:32):
Think it was a fine. I think you're right, I
think there was a fine.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
Well, but think it.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
Was a fine to the university after the game, like
a couple days later. I think the SEC find them.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
Well, what I was gonna say, though, was the last
point that you just brought up was the most important,
which is that that the NCAA literally changed a rule
overnight this week with the Dan Lanning Ohio state stuff, which,
by the way, this is another conversation we're not gonna
be able to get into. I don't know if Dan
Lanning really did it on purpose. It was a heck
a thing to say that he did. But that's another
conversation for another day. But I just bring it up
(10:04):
because you're right, these rules can be changed. It is
also worth noting, you know. First of all, it's it's
worth noting this. Greg Sankie, the SEC Commissioner, is actually
at this game. He did a media availability or for
a couple of reporters. I think I saw Ross Stellinger,
our buddy Trey Wallace from OutKick. I believe he either.
I don't know if he did a like a standard
(10:26):
media availability, but he at least answered a few questions.
I would imagine that he's going to skedad a lot
of there and release an official statement. But I'm with you,
I you know, there's so much more to get to. Georgia,
by the way, still is up thirty to sixteen with
about six and a half minutes to go, thirty to fifteen,
excuse me, six and a half minutes to go, So
it looks like they will probably get out of here
(10:48):
with the victory. But this is you know, it's just
it's fascinating. And I'm with you as I think that
the NCAA, the SEC, the SEC in conjunction with the SEC.
By the way, for people who don't know in college,
you know, the SEC has their own refs, the Big
Ten has their own refs, et cetera, et cetera. I
think the SEC as well, independent of the fact that
(11:09):
the NCAA can easily put in a rule that says,
you know, automatic fifteen yard penalty if stuff comes out
of the out of the stands or something like that.
But I also think the SEC has to take action
as well, and just you can't have I don't think
you can have these guys on a game next week.
I just don't. I think it's a bad look. It's
a marquee game. Thankful, and I'll say this too, I'm
(11:29):
kind of I'm just thankful that it's not going to
impact this game because I mean you look at yeah,
even in a twelve team playoff era, Georgia loses this game,
you know, it's hard.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
To see that.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
You know, they they're they're probably on the outside looking
in of an SEC championship opportunity, maybe you know, one
loss away from being eliminated from real playoff contention. Now
you know it might be number one after this win,
which might be a good conversation for when this game
goes final. But I just bring it up because it's
a bad look, and I'm with you. I think the
(11:59):
SEC and the NCAA, one of the two, if not both,
has to come out come out against this pretty strongly
on on Sunday, Jason, anything else to add here before
we get to some of the other stuff from Saturday.
Speaker 4 (12:10):
I went ahead and double checked it. So the SEC
fined Tennessee two hundred and fifty thousand dollars for the
fans behavior. So I assume you'll probably get that there
were eighteen arrests. Sank came out and had a pretty
tough statement. They had to ban individuals for the remainder
of the year and all this, but that's not enough,
Like you can't. There has to be something much more
(12:34):
punitive than just to find to the university, because honestly,
that doesn't hit the fans at all, Like, that's not
a thing that's going to detract this. If you think
you can overturn a call for the team, I mean,
I think if you gave truth serum to the coaches
on the sidelines, I'd say, yeah, we can pay that
as a university if we end up benefiting from it
and it ends up costing or helping us win a
(12:54):
game that is critical or something like that. But I
would be stunned if this is not a dress by Monday.
And I don't mean by a fine, I mean by okay,
this happens, here's the result of it, and it being
something pretty severe.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
We will certainly monitor postgame sound with Kirby Smart, Greg
Sanke or the SEC if they make any sort of statement.
But again, a very wild situation at Texas for this
Georgia Texas game. By the way, the delay has pushed
the game back, there's still a little under six minutes
to go. Texas is driving deep in Georgia territory. Georgia
(13:31):
up thirty to fifteen with five forty two to go
and it's third and twelve, so you'd think they'd probably
have to go for it on fourth down here if
they do not convert, and they do not, so tell
you what, Ja mart we will come back. And when
we do, we got to get into a busy rest
of the day in college football. Okay, because Bama lost.
(13:52):
There's some crazy stuff going on at Bama right now.
This doesn't This is not Nick Saban's Alabama Crimson side.
They lose to Tennessee, USC at Oklahoma both take it
bad losses. That's got some kind of interesting symmetry to it.
And of course we'll get you a final here from
Texas and Georgia. Georgia up thirty to fifteen. Texas will
in fact go for it on fourth down. Jason Martin

Speaker 2 (14:32):
Welcome back, everybody, Fox Sports Radio. Aertors Jason Martin broadcasting
live fromntirerack dot com studios, keeping the update on the
Georgia Texas game. Georgia up thirty to fifteen two minutes
eighteen seconds left. It is fourth and one and so
(14:55):
Texas Georgia has the ball. So Texas would need to
get the ball back and score twice for them to
come back and win. We'll see if that has We'll
keep you updated on that one throughout the game, but
about two eighteen left. Another timeout coming with the two
minute timeout, and they're also in the middle of a
booth review. Jay mart We'll get back to this one
when it goes final, because there's some interesting elements there.
(15:17):
But I want to ask you about the state of
two other SEC teams, Tennessee and Alabama, and really one specifically.
Tennessee beats Alabama twenty four to seventeen today, you know,
kind of the typical game that you and I talk
about sometimes entertaining finish.
Speaker 3 (15:35):
I don't know that I would call it a.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
Great game overall, though, five total turnovers between the three
teams between the two teams, twenty six total turnovers for
two hundred yards over two hundred yards at penalty yardage
in this game. Obviously, the very interesting scenario came late
in the game. Alabama was trailing twenty one seventeen with
(16:00):
under two minutes to go, and they had their time outs.
They decided to go for it on fourth and twenty two. Now,
part of what made that interesting was that there was
a personal file penalty. It would have been fourth and seven,
but a personal file penalty sent them back to fourth
(16:20):
and twenty two. Kaln to bordercides to go forth. They
don't get it. Basically handed Tennessee a chip shot field goal.
Alabama ends up losing by seven on a Jalen Milroe interception.
Jay mart I actually have quite a few thoughts, especially
on the Bama perspective, but I'll open up with the
Florida You first on Tennessee getting its second win in
three years over Alabama and Alabama taking a second loss
(16:43):
in three weeks.
Speaker 4 (16:44):
I mean, big win for Tennessee obviously, and they did
plenty of things that should have cost them the game.
But Alabama did plenty of things that should have cost
them the game.
Speaker 3 (16:55):
This was a.
Speaker 4 (16:56):
Sloppy games, a lot of penalties on both sides, neither
quarterback at his best, and look, I think that the
defense has had something to do with that. Alabama's defense
played better than it had in recent weeks. But I
also think the Tennessee's offense has come down to earth
of the last few weeks, So maybe both those things
kind of kind of worked in the same way. But
the fourth and twenty two, I I know, we like
(17:21):
guys being aggressive and going for the win, but in
this situation, when you have all your timeouts and you're
that far in your own territory and your defense has
done a nice job on them throughout the day, even
Stampson wasn't just killing you all game long on the ground,
you didn't give them the opportunity here. Instead, you went
(17:43):
for a very low percentage shot on fourth and twenty
two and then managed to I mean, like you said,
you gave up a chip shot field goal, and I
just I didn't understand that that felt reckless when you
didn't have to be reckless. Yes, if they go get
a first down on you, then the ball game is
going to be over. But they did end up stopping them,
(18:05):
enforcing that field goal, and you could have done that
fifty yards down the field any other direction and not
have that extra three points on the scoreboard. Ultimately, you
didn't have enough offensively, But I think the bigger issue
right now for Alabama is the lack of discipline is
not something that you're used to seeing from that uniform.
(18:27):
You're just not because Saban didn't tolerate it. They did
not play undisciplined football. They did not beat themselves on
a regular basis. It might have happened once in a
blue moon where they had more penalties than they should
and Saban made sure that that was not a recurring
factor all year. Penalties, mental mistakes, things like that have
(18:48):
been a concern and an issue for this Alabama team.
So I think that's the biggest thing is there's a
massive difference, and it's hard not to notice that. As
soon as save and leaves, things kind of crack around
the seams just a little bit. And maybe he saw
it coming again. I mean, he got out knowing that
this was not a landscape he wanted to coach in
(19:10):
any longer, which is something I saw coming a few
years ago. But debor stepping in replacing the guy, it's
a tough thing to do. And now you've lost two games,
one of them to Vanderbilt, and the chances they're getting
in the playoff at this point are really remote. In
my opinion.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
Well, and by the way, speaking of maybe being a
little bit reckless, a little over two minutes to go,
Georgia in their own territory on fourth and one decide
to go for it against Texas. They do not get it.
So Texas now has it in Georgia territory. It is
still thirty to fifteen. And by the way, first play
(19:46):
quit Yewers threw the ball right to a Georgia player
who dropped an interception, which would have basically sealed the game.
We're at the two minute timeout, thirty to fifteen. Georgia
still leads getting back to Bama. J Mart, I'm just
with you one hundred percent. You know, listen, I think
the verdict is still going to be out on Debor.
I'm not ready to sell all my debor stock yet.
Speaker 4 (20:06):
Oh it's not fair to do that at all. But
that's what's gonna happen for some people.
Speaker 6 (20:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
And but what I will say, and I think what
is very obvious to me is exactly what you just said,
is that the things that made Alabama Alabama under Nick
Saban Now I do understand, I do get that it is,
you know, a new era, new coaching staff, new whatever.
And by the way, Alabama fans will tell you two
(20:31):
years ago, the Bryce Young year when they struggled, that
was a very penalized team. But it doesn't change the
fact that what Alabama was built on in that era
was discipline and accountability.
Speaker 3 (20:43):
And this isn't the first time. J Martin.
Speaker 2 (20:44):
I mean, I was traveling the week of the Vandy game.
But obviously that Vandy game, late in the game, Malakai
More a safety. You know, the Vanderbilt converts the fourth down,
Malachi Moore kicks the football while it's.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
On the ground. Da da da da.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
And so I just bring it up because what I
do see is a program that is still talented. Now
they've they certainly today they lost to a good team.
So I'm not trying to diminish what Tennessee did whatever.
And it's on the road. It's on the road, so
that you know, whatever, good team on the road. But
at the same time, you can see cracks in the
(21:20):
foundation of not just are you losing games, but you're
just not they're not acting the way that Alabama acted
in the past. And you look at you know again
the selfish penalties, Kendrick Law. You look at two weeks
ago with Malachi Moore. By the way, I just saw
this tweet on three seems to be the one that
(21:40):
found it of a of an Alabama player retweeting fan
tweets with how unhappy he is that he's not getting
the football thrown to him. Caleb Caleb Odum is the
player that I'm naming here, and I just bring it
up Jmart because it's like, you know, this just doesn't
It's not just that it doesn't look like Alabama in
terms of the penalties and the lack of discipline, but
(22:02):
it's also everything that that program was built on, uh,
doesn't seem to exist any longer.
Speaker 4 (22:09):
Yeah, and those are the things that you take for
granted because you're just they're never a factor. They never
beat themselves. They let other teams beat themselves. The last
two minutes of a half, they ended up under sab
and I don't know how many times scoring and enforcing
some kind of a turnover and getting an extra field
goal at least before going in in this game where
(22:31):
points were at a premium and neither offense was really
firing on all cylinders. It was those kind of mistakes.
It was the discipline eras like the horrible personal foul
penalty at the end of the game where look, yes,
dude was taunting the PAMA player right in his face,
but you got to be smarter than that. He turns around,
he shoves him, he gets the call. Should it have
(22:51):
been offsetting penalties, absolutely, especially considering the guy then threw
a punch at him, But you can't bank on that.
And so the referees didn't get it right, as they
didn't get it right much in that game for either team,
and didn't get it right tonight for this Georgia Texas
game either. But the discipline and the penalties and the
making a third down and two a third down and
(23:12):
seven because of a bad pre snap penalty or some
kind of an illegal formation or something like that, those
are the things that Saban just didn't tolerate. Like you'd
see it once and then you'd see him on the
sidelines and you'd see his face and you would know, Okay,
well that's not going to happen again, and generally it didn't.
And because they're losing, and even in the wins like
(23:35):
they really should have lost to South Carolina last week,
I mean, imagine that we could have been talking about
Alabama losing three in a row, which is just insane.
Realize this, you want to hear a stat This is
the first time since two thousand and seven that Alabama
has lost two games before November. It's been a long
time since that has happened. And I'm not sure that
(23:57):
they've lost their last game for the year because this
is a flaw football team that is reliant on just
a couple of guys, one of which in Jaln Milroe.
I think it is fair at this point to say
he is a streaky football player. Well, it is very
good a lot of the time, but he can fall
into a slump and look completely different for a couple
(24:18):
of games. And I think we've seen that.
Speaker 2 (24:20):
Yeah, tonight twenty five of forty five, two interceptions. And
this goes back to what I talked about last week.
Is everybody after the Vandy game was focused on the defense.
I said, you know, it doesn't look to me like
they have very much offense outside of Jaylen Milroe being
the bigger, stronger cousin in the backyard football game, you know,
putting the ball in his hands to run, and then
(24:42):
Ryan Williams, the wide receiver. It's like if you take
him out of the game. And that's what happened today,
is that the stat was that he was targeted sixteen
times in that game. Now that's good, but you got
to get the ball to other guys. The guy Caleb
Bodom had zero catches, the one that apparently was tweeting
some things out of frustration today.
Speaker 3 (24:59):
So uh, it's interesting.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
And I think Milroe is part of the reason that
I'm not that I'm not you know, I'm not giving
up on Dobor as a coach. I just but but
I do think this team is flawed and they're just
not acting in the manner in which they did. I'll
tell you what, Jmart will come back because it looks
(25:23):
as though did George just get Texas off the field.
I think they might have Quinn. You rors through about
three passes in a row that should have been intercepted,
But Georgia has gotten Texas off the field.
Speaker 3 (25:33):
I'll tell you what.
Speaker 2 (25:33):
Instead of me blabbin, we got a crazy setup in
college football and Major League baseball, and Disaga is better
at his job than mine. So I'll shut up and
let Disager tell everybody what's going on.
Speaker 4 (25:45):
Up Only Ernie Spanier would do the same.
Speaker 7 (25:48):
No, he's not kind of taken lessons.
Speaker 8 (25:51):
As for the two of you, first off, a formal,
good evening, Good to hear you both, And yes, the
chance for the Yankees to qualify for the World Series.
Tonight they are leading the Alcs three games to one,
and they're in the top of the tenth inning at
Cleveland right now. A botched chance at a force play
at second base help extend the inning by the Guardians
(26:11):
defense and that means two outs, two on for New
York and Juan Soto at the plate, Aaron Judge on deck,
and of course after that would be Jim Carlos Stanton,
the guy who homed again tonight. He had a two
run shot in the top of the six to tie
the game at two. It's still tied at two in
the top of the tenth. A Game six would be
Monday at Yankee Stadium and LCS Game six will be
(26:34):
in La Sunday night. Dodgers up three games to two,
host the Mets on FS one again. Georgia is taking
a knee. The Georgia Bulldogs are gonna win at number
one ranked Texas thirty to fifteen. Bulldogs led at halftime
twenty three to nothing. In fact, had five sacks, force
three turnovers in the first half, allowed just thirty eight
(26:55):
yards in the first half. Georgia with a victory on
the road. Number six Miami won fifty two forty five
at Louisville, Tennessee over Alabama twenty four to seventeen with
ten points in the last six minutes. LSU and Clemson
with wins. Notre Dame in Texas, A and m each
one tonight at number nine Iowa State. The Cyclones have
(27:17):
held off at UCF, avoiding the upset, getting a touchdown
with thirty seconds left. Thirty eight thirty five wins for
Indiana and Kansas State. Wins for SMU and Illinois, which
beat Michigan today twenty one seven, Army and Navy each
one again. Nineteenth rank Missouri came from behind to defeat
Auburn twenty one seventeen on a touchdown in the final minute.
(27:40):
Michigan State beat Iowa tonight thirty two to twenty. Colorado
all over the Arizona Wildcats final of thirty four to seven.
Yes Arnie's Wildcats Maryland, with fifteen points in the last
ten minutes, defeated USC twenty nine to twenty eight, and
believe it or not, the Yankees could be going to
the World Series. Juan Soto has hit a four hundred
(28:03):
foot three run homer in the top of the tenth
with two outs five two Yankees lead at Cleveland in
Game five. I should say five of the Alcs back
to you.
Speaker 2 (28:17):
Thank you very much, Steve Disager, Fox Sports Radio, Fox
Sports Saturday Air towards Jason Martin Broadcasting Live forth Tyreck
dot Com Studios. We say it every week, jmart But
you know, sometimes we got to grind through the you know,
quieter saturdays in June and July and that time of
year to get to Saturdays like this. Let's uh, we'll
(28:37):
put the baseball on ice for now until it goes final.
But as de Sager just told you, Wan Soto a
three run home run in the top of the tenth.
The Yankees now they are still batting, but they're three
outs away from going to the World Series. If that
game goes final after the tenth, we'll obviously start talking
about that one at that point. By the way, if
(28:59):
it doesn't go final, then we'll probably have something to
talk about as it is, no kidding, aha, but let's
for now because I have a feeling we'll be talking
baseball here probably at the top of next hour. Uh,
let's let's go ahead and talk about Georgia. So Georgia
does hold on to beat Texas thirty to fifteen. Uh,
go ahead. What is your reaction to Georgia. I sort
(29:21):
of a must win game for them, but they get
the victory. They are six and one, Texas is six
and one, and that loss to Alabama feels like a
very distant memory.
Speaker 4 (29:33):
It does, and it seems more unthinkable now. But again,
I think we have seen that everybody's flawed and everybody's beatable,
and we saw it tonight because Georgia was better than Texas.
They just were. They came in. You sent a text
to me fairly early in the game and said, george
is clearly more battle tested, one hundred percent, right, can't
can't add more to it. They came in, they had
(29:53):
scars from battle and they were ready to go, and
Texas was kind of unscathed, hadn't been touched, but also
hadn't been checked challenged, and they ran into a Georgia
team that heard all week long from hosts that make
a lot of money in this business, that Texas has
become the premiere program any sec. I heard that from
multiple people this week, and I don't think they cared
(30:15):
for it, or really don't. They came in to make
a statement and to shut people up and to say, nope,
we're still Georgia. This is still, this is still the
top program in the sport. And they proved it on
a night where one of the most amazing things I
can see just looking at the stats now that it's over,
Beck averaged four point three yards per completion. Youers averaged
(30:37):
four point nine. This was not a game where a
ton of yards happened. Texas rushed for twenty nine yards
in the game. Georgia rush for one h nine, So
I'm not even sure if either team hit three hundred
total yards in this game. It was a fight. There
were a lot of hard hits in this game. I
think both these two teams are gonna either if they
don't see each other again, They're certainly likely. I'd be
(31:01):
shocked if they don't. As a matter of fact, at
some point, but Georgia tonight looked like the best team
in the country outside of their quarterback. Their quarterback managed
to throw three interceptions. You won't know how dominant Georgia was.
Aaron Beck threw two interceptions in the first quarter and
they still led Texas ten to nothing. Like Texas couldn't
(31:23):
even do anything with the ball when they got it
off of another errant throw from Carson Beck. But Georgia,
to me, tonight re established itself as Yeah, it's still
us than everybody else. I understand Ohio State, I understand Oregon,
but you watch that tonight, the way that defense was
flying around, the way that they just looked like they
(31:43):
had superior athletes everywhere. And if it comes down to it,
who are you going to pick to beat them in January?
Like they may get beat, but it's hard to pick
against them when you know that their gear, when they
find it this way, is better than everybody else's gear.
Speaker 2 (32:01):
Yeah, I think to me, you know, there are still
some teams that are really, really, really good, and I
think now I would still put Texas in that top tier. Now, listen, Georgia,
I think we could talk about this maybe on the
other side of the break is you know, I know
we traditionally rank undefeated teams over one loss teams, but
(32:22):
you look at George's resume. Now, a loss to Alabama
when they had the lead in the fourth quarter. Now
that loss actually weirdly looks worse by the week. But listen,
you know you have a situation where Clemson that loss
looks better by the week, that this win against Texas
probably the best win anybody has in college football right now,
by the way, that Clemson win is slow, like I said,
(32:44):
might be the top three, top four winning college football
right now. I haven't really sat down and thought about it,
but I just bring it up because what I will
say is I agree with you on virtually everything. Is
that one I do think these are the two best
teams in the league. Georgia and Tennessee play in Athens
in a few weeks, so obviously it feels presumptuous to
(33:04):
assume that whoever wins that game probably is in the
driver's see. Texas a very manageable schedule as well going forward.
So you'd think that whoever wins Georgia Tennessee and Georgia
does have them at home, that they would likely play
Texas in the SEC championship game in a rematch. But
to me, what this just does is it re establishes
Georgia in my opinion, certainly as the top team in
(33:26):
the SEC, and you can't really deny it.
Speaker 3 (33:28):
And I guess what's crazy for me? J Mart? Really
quick because I know we're up against it here.
Speaker 6 (33:32):
But.
Speaker 3 (33:34):
Like you said, it felt so dominant.
Speaker 2 (33:36):
But you know, like you said, Carson back twenty three
to forty one, Georgia barely had one hundred yards a
total of rush offense. Excuse me, but they did get
the job done. They ran the ball when they needed
to because there was a couple of big plays from
Trevor Ettien. So I'll tell you what, J Mart will
come back when we do. We could be reacting to Georgia, Texas.
(33:56):
We could be reacting to the Yankees going to the
World Series because they are too outs away now bottom
of the tenth one, so too, of course, hit the
go ahead home run in the top of the tent
to give them a five to two leach and mention,
by the way, our thanks to rapid Radios, the official
communication device of Fox Sports Radio. Rapid radios are instant

As we speak, two outs from going to the World Series.
What happens in that game? More from Texas, Georgia Wild
(34:40):
Saturday night, Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (34:43):
Please you're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 3 (34:47):
Welcome back, everybody.
Speaker 2 (34:49):
Fox Sports Radio er Torres Jason Martin broadcasting live from
the tire rack dot Com studios. We do have a
final in Major League Baseball, so we know it's football season,
but it's also October.
Speaker 3 (35:02):
October means playoff baseball.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
The New York Yankees are headed to the World Series.
Speaker 3 (35:10):
A Jan Soto three run home run.
Speaker 2 (35:14):
In the top half of the tenth inning allows the
Yankees to clinch this series in five games. Tell you
what we'll bring in Disager as well. Disager's a baseball nut.
You know he's on all week with Jason and Mike
j mart I'll start with you, you know Yankees obviously, you
(35:36):
know listen, we know about the history, but they were
also best team in the American League throughout the regular season.
You know, we know the impact that that new playoff
structure has had on some teams like the Phillies. This year,
has that impact to the Yankees take care of business
in relatively easy fashion against the Kansas City Royals and
then in five games knock out the Cleveland Guardians and
(36:00):
headed to the World Series.
Speaker 4 (36:01):
Yeah, I mean, I think it's it's good for the game.
I mean, the Yankees being in the World Series is
it's been a while. And this unit, I mean, there's
a lot here, obviously the box office of Aaron Judge,
but Soto right before he hits the home run, the
entire at bat, basically every pitch that he's thrown, he's
like nodding to the pitcher, staring him down, like watch yourself, pal,
(36:25):
And then he drilled him and just took him, took
him yard. That's enough to win this thing. I will
say this, this isn't a baseball point overall, but there
may be. There may be nothing more creamsworthy or awkward
in all of sports. Then the baseball after clinching like
(36:46):
jumping that's done. Because let's just say it's not the
most athletic feat that you see athletic guys do. When
they all like piled on and started jumping, it was
like they were jumping six inches off. Then it looked
very weird, like it was choreographed on Broadway, which hey,
look it's New York. But again, as for the baseball thing,
(37:08):
I think it works. But I just when I was watching,
I was just like, guys, people are watching that, like.
Speaker 7 (37:14):
As always gravity ends.
Speaker 4 (37:16):
Yeah, like, don don't do that. You guys are athletes
making a ton of money. If you're gonna do that,
like do that behind closed doors where people can't see it.
But again, no, Steve, I mean, I think Yankees going
to the World Series, whether it's the Dodgers or the Mets,
you have Yeah, if you Rob Manford, that's like perfect.
Speaker 8 (37:34):
Yeah, I think it would be more perfect if it's
not two from the same place.
Speaker 4 (37:38):
Yes, I agree with you.
Speaker 8 (37:39):
When the Dodgers played Keonseko and McGuire and the A's,
those were two, you know, attractive teams, but they were
two from the same state and they didn't get quite
as enormous a ratings as people thought. Interesting that The
World Series starts Friday on Fox TV. Friday, is Juan
Soto's birthday. He will turn twenty six and he will
celebrate it as a Yankee in the World Series. And
(38:01):
the Yankees have not been to a World Series since
two thousand and nine when they won the title against
the Phillies. Let's be honest, they could have gone to
the World Series in twenty seventeen. Houston did instead, and
we all know what happened with Houston that season. But
the Yankees win in five in the ALCS. And let's
not forget what has gone on with pitching. First off,
(38:23):
the Yankees found a closer the last month of the
season and he completely dominated until this week. The closer
for the regular season was Cleveland's Emmanuel class A. He
somehow in this postseason gave up eight runs in eight innings.
He didn't allow eight runs the entire regular season six
months total. The guy led the al in saves, had
(38:46):
an ERA of zero point six to one. He did
throw a scoreless ninth to night. The home run came
off someone else in the tenth, but the Yankee bullpen
in the previous series almost sixteen innings of pitching, no
earned runs allowed. Yanks go to the World Series.
Speaker 3 (39:02):
Yanks go to the World Series.
Speaker 2 (39:03):
Jan Soda the hero tonight, the three run home run
in the top of the tenth. To Sager, this might
be a question for you. You know, Yankees haven't been
able to get over the hump forever. You know, Well,
first of all, we got all of our two, all
of our three to talk Yankees, to talk college football,
to talk whatever. I want to get into the Jan
Soto side of things, because you know, you talk about
a guy coming over and having an instant impact. It's
(39:25):
it's not that I wanted diminish a fifty eight home
run season from Aaron Judge, but when Wan Soto comes
over hits forty one home runs with one hundred and
nine RBI, you know, it feels like, as an outsider
to Major League Baseball guy doesn't cover it on a
day to day basis, feels like the impact that he
has had has been exponential.
Speaker 3 (39:44):
But here's the good news.
Speaker 7 (39:45):
We yes impact.
Speaker 2 (39:47):
And I was gonna say, we have all of ours.
We got as much time, We got two more hours
on air to discuss all of it. But for people
just joining us, we do have a final The New
York Yankees are headed to the World Series. New York
New York. Baby, they take care of the Cleveland Guardians.
We'll come back. More reaction. This more reaction to college football,
some NFL as well. This is Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (40:09):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (40:13):
Welcome in everybody, Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Saturday and
the Sunday. As we just past midnight Eastern, Ra Torris,
Jason Martin, we are broadcasting live from thee tirec dot

the way tire buying should be. And as always, we
are live from thee tai Iraq dot Com studios midnight Eastern.
But the sports world is buzzing. The Yankees on the
podium accepting the American League Championship trophy for the first
time since two thousand and nine, Jaymartin, I want to
(40:58):
spend a lot of time talking about the Yankees, but
before we do, the Georgia Texas game also just went final.
Georgia does beat the number one team in the country
thirty to fifteen. There was a controversial play in that
game and I just want to talk about because Kirby
Smart is addressing it now with the media. A controversial
play in which we talked about this a lot of
(41:19):
Hour one, so just to put a button on this,
but where a Texas interception was called a pass interference
that is not a reviewable call in college football. Texas
fans were mad at the pass interference being called. They
threw bottles on the field. The game was delayed, obviously
(41:41):
for the cleanup. No unsportsmanlike conduct, no penalty on Texas,
and then while they were cleaning it up, the refs.
I don't think you can even say overturned the call
on the field because you can't do that. So it
was a controversial play. At the time, Texas got the
all they scored a touchdown. But after the game, Kirby
(42:03):
Smart has had a couple of comments, This one from
Seth Emerson of The Athletic. This is from Kirby Smart.
I believe the postgame podium will try to find the sound.
He said exactly what we said, j Martin. He said,
now you've set a precedent that if you throw a
bunch of stuff on the field and in danger athletes,
that you've got a chance to get your call reversed,
(42:23):
and that's unfortunate because to me, that's dangerous. And again,
I promise we're gonna get right back to the Yankees
clinching the Alcs. But I just say that to say
that Kirby smart thinking the exact same thing you and
I were talking about in hour one.
Speaker 4 (42:39):
And this is exactly what he should say, even after
winning the game. It doesn't affect the outcome, but it
affects the future. And I cannot envision a scenario in
which the NCAA does not put a nix to this
before another football game is plaid next week. There is
(43:01):
no way you can let this continue like this has
to be addressed. These officials have to be suspended, at
least for a game. They're going to be reprimanded, I'm
sure behind closed doors, but like that, this is just
the precedent that this sets. Is a no go. This
must be completely eliminated immediately, because there is no scenario
in which a fan base should not try to do
(43:24):
this if there's not going to be a penalty. It
gave the officials a chance to look at the scoreboard
in the building realized, oh you know what that call.
Isn't that good? And then just overturn it because of
an artificial delay created by fans who were not penalized.
The team wasn't penalized for it. There wasn't a une
sportsman like, Yes, there will be a fine, but who cares.
(43:44):
The good news is it doesn't affect this game. So
all right, you just saw what this can look like.
Now make sure it never happens again, because this would
be catastrophic going forward for college football. Like this, this
is far worse than just about any other can of
worms that you could open for fans to see a
(44:06):
way to where they can influence a game.
Speaker 2 (44:08):
No, absolutely, And as you said earlier, I thought it
was a great point. We found out this week the
NCAA can change a rule in a day, because they
did it with the Oregon Ohio State twelve man on
the field penalty.
Speaker 3 (44:19):
By the way, on a much lighter.
Speaker 2 (44:20):
Note, Kirby on the actual broadcast told the ESPN sideline
reporter after the game, nobody gave us a chance.
Speaker 3 (44:27):
Your whole networked out at us. Nobody believed us.
Speaker 2 (44:30):
Then he continued, and they tried to rob us with
calls in this place. So Kirby's feeling himself right now.
But you know, I was gonna say, you know who
else is feeling themselves right now? The New York Yankees.
They have advanced to the World Series for the first
time since two thousand and nine. Giohn Carlos Stanton, with
four home runs and seven RBI in this series, has
(44:51):
been named ALCS MVP. And I think maybe that last
point Jmart speaks to me why it just feels like
it might the Yankees year, we'll get into a potential
matchup with the Dodgers, potential matchup maybe even with the Mets.
Obviously with the Dodgers up in that series. But I
bring it up because when you look at the Yankees,
you know, the Wan Soto acquisition, you cannot deny has
(45:16):
played a huge impact on that team. As I mentioned,
forty one home runs, but to take out Aeron Judge,
but forty one.
Speaker 3 (45:24):
Home runs led the league in runs. That's Juan Soto.
Speaker 2 (45:26):
But I think it's also worth noting John Carlos Stanton
was a guy that was widely criticized in New York
for years for not coming up big, especially in the clutch.
He has named ALCS MVP four home runs, seven RBI,
another home run this evening, as the New York Yankees
are headed to the World Series for the first time
again since two thousand and nine.
Speaker 4 (45:48):
Yeah, so right now, Stanton is holding up the trophy
and he's named alcs MVP, had four home runs in
the series, and yeah, he's been widely criticized and probably
deserve so. I mean when he was brought in, he
was brought in to do this. This is why you
bring a guy like that in. This is why you
bring a one Soto in. Even though it didn't go
(46:09):
great for him out in San Diego. We knew what
he was in Washington. And he comes home and he
does he looks like he should have always been in
a Yankees uniform, Like he just does. He looks like
a New York Yankee to me. And he's terrifying. Like
just when he is on, there's almost nobody better. So
you look at this team, even though you know maybe
(46:31):
they weren't expected to be right here and they don't
have that payroll that they once did where it's number
one in baseball and bottomless pockets and all this, you
know there are other teams that are competing with them.
Monetarily on a regular basis. There's a lot of stars
on this team. And that's the other thing that I
think that you love. If you're Rob Manford is you
get Judge, you get Stanton, you get Sodo, if you
(46:52):
get the Dodgers, you get Otani. On top of all that,
you've got every storyline in the world. You have the
biggest audience that you could possibly have because you've got
the two biggest markets in the country in New York
in LA with a with skin in the game to
watch this. If that's what you ultimately get, and with
that large audience and the coverage there, you have an
(47:12):
opportunity to market your game in front of a lot
of people with I think, very infectious teams like I
think at this point, especially as a Braves fan, go Yankees.
As unbelievable as that is for me to say, especially
considering I was at Yankee Stadium when Chipper Jones flipped
the middle finger to them.
Speaker 7 (47:33):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (47:34):
During the first year of Interleague play after the it
was after the World Series. It was after the ninety
eight World Series, so it was the next year when
Interleague play started. I happened to be in New York,
had graduated high school and I was there and just
hated the Yankees for everything they were worth. But the
Mets can't can't get with that. Nope, and Dodgers definitely
(47:57):
cannot get with that. So I look at it and
I say, yeah, I actually think I'm pulling for the
Yankees to win the World Series. And hades has frozen over.
Speaker 2 (48:05):
Wow, look at you, Look at you. I mean, I
get it being a being a Braves guy. I totally understand.
Yankees are on the field. They are your al C,
your al champions ALCS MVP is John Carlos Stanton, Jay Martin.
I'm gonna ask you the super cliche obvious question. You know,
(48:26):
Dodgers are up in their series. We'll see if they
can close it out tomorrow night against the the Mets. Listen,
I know the Subway Series creates nostalgia, and you know
Roger Clemons chucking a bat at the head of Mike Piazza.
But I think, you know, I would guess that all
of our bosses at Fox and Fox Sports want a
(48:47):
met or excuse me, a Yankees Dodgers World Series. What
do you think that would do for Major League Baseball?
Because this is a sport that listen. You know, we don't.
Speaker 3 (48:56):
This is not it.
Speaker 2 (48:57):
This is a night to celebrate baseball. It's not a
knight to do the whole. You know, hey, is one
hundred and sixty two games too much? Whatever, blah blah blah.
But I would think that you could not get a
better setup Dodger Yankees, not not just two mega markets,
but mega brands. Otani, I think has finally gone mainstream
(49:17):
this year as part of you know, part of a
winning team. I know he hasn't had the best playoffs
by his own insane standards, but again, Aaron Judge, obviously
you know what we assume is going to be an
MVP season in the ALE.
Speaker 3 (49:32):
Wi's almost a certainty.
Speaker 2 (49:33):
Juan Soto, as you said, playing unbelievable, looking like a
Yankee as he heads in a free agency John Carlos
Stanton finally figuring it out.
Speaker 3 (49:42):
I can't.
Speaker 2 (49:44):
There's just to me, it's not just that you get
those two big brands, but you really, you get the
stars operating at the highest level. I can't imagine major
League Baseball would want anything more.
Speaker 4 (49:55):
No, you could not. I mean really, if you look
at the Championship Series with no disrespect Cleveland. If you
could have had New York Boston, you would have preferred
that if you were baseball and you were looking at
from a market standpoint. But you end up with both
New York teams and the Dodgers. And I think if
you wanted to change out anything at all, like if
(50:17):
it wasn't gonna be the Mets, it would need to
probably be the Braves or the Cardinals. I think those
are probably the other teams that I would look at
in the n Now I might be forgetting somebody, but
maybe I guess maybe the Cubs. But like outside of that,
I mean, you can't ask for more than this. You
have the stars, like we talked about, you've got these
major media markets. You've got teams that national, national radio,
(50:39):
national television will want to talk about, Like these will
be topics that will actually make it on TV. Whereas
if it's the wrong teams and I say wrong in
air quotes, it would never be the wrong teams, as
they deserve to be there. But in terms of how
much coverage and how much it's going to be talked about,
there's a difference. And so yeah, this is the perfect
(51:01):
this is this is it couldn't be better for baseball
to get the Yankees in. And if you do, in fact,
get the Dodgers in, even though the Subway Series would
have its own interest level, it wouldn't be the same
if you end up with Otani and Judge both. If
you end up with the Dodgers and the Yankees, both
New York and LA both, you just can't ask for
(51:22):
more than that. If you're baseball, you have a golden
opportunity to grow your game potentially again after what wasn't
like a great season overall with the regional sports networks
issues and just some of the some of the other things,
but you did have some memorable stuff. You had obviously
what happened in Alabama, and you had all of this.
You had you had to chase for Otani, and you
(51:44):
had the numbers for Aaron Judge and all this, and
you end up with both those guys in the World Series.
Like if you scripted it, that's what you would want.
Speaker 3 (51:51):
It is what you would want. And we are halfway there.
Speaker 2 (51:54):
The New York Yankees start spreading the news they have
advanced to their first World Series since two thousand and nine,
beating the Cleveland Guardians in five games they clinch in Cleveland.
John Carlos Stanton is your ALCS MVP. Tell you what,
Jmart will come back. We will put a bow on
this Yankees coverage advancy of the World Series, and we
(52:15):
will start to look ahead to what should be an
insane week in the NFL, but also look back, because
we got to talk a little bit about the Cowboys
and maybe a few other things that happened in Week
six before we can get ahead two week seven. It
is just such a fun time here to be on sports,
to be talking sports. Speaking of talking sports, nobody does
(52:38):
it better than our guys Countdown to Kickoff. So football

World Series. What it means for Major League Baseball. What
could happen on Sunday night with the Dodgers and the Mets,
and we'll talk some NFL. This is Fox Sports.
Speaker 3 (53:17):
Are you.
Speaker 2 (53:19):
Welcome back, everybody? Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (53:24):
What a song man.
Speaker 4 (53:25):
There's a lot to like about New York sports right now,
just as an observer from outside, especially somebody that works
in the industry a little bit. Man, there's a lot
to talk about. Nicks and the NBA seas about to start.
The Jets, which we're about to talk about obviously. Now
(53:47):
you've got the Yankees. The Mets are not out of
it completely in there in the NLCS, and the Yankees
are back in the World Series. Like man, all of
a sudden. Something to watch.
Speaker 2 (53:57):
Well, j mart, I'll tell you what I got a
surprise for you. We aren't gonna be talking Jets anytime soon,
because producer Ian is efforting JP Morossi as a speak
JP saw tell you what is.
Speaker 3 (54:11):
What we're gonna do.
Speaker 2 (54:12):
Let's get it over the news desk to Saga is
gonna get you an update on everything that happened in
baseball and beyond, and then we're deep diving with JP.
Speaker 8 (54:20):
Go ahead to Sager, superb guy to talk to about baseball.
The Yankees have clinched the al title tonight in ten
innings at Cleveland, five to two, taking the ALCS four
games to one.
Speaker 7 (54:30):
Juan Soto with a three run homer in the top
of the tenth.
Speaker 8 (54:33):
In the yankees very long history, only one other time
in a series clinching win and they had an extra
inning home run, and that was when his manager Aaron
Boone won Game seven of the ALCS over twenty years ago.
Juan Carlos Stanton the ALCS MVP named tonight. Even if
he didn't hit that tying two run homer in the sixth,
he's been phenomenal. I gotta mention the Sodo home run
(54:57):
came with two outs in the tenth. This evening had
been a shortstops air on a force play. It kept
the inning going in a sense, all three runs were unearned.
Soto had three hits in the game, and on his birthday.
He'll play in a Yankee uniform in Game one of
the World Series Friday on Fox TV.
Speaker 7 (55:17):
Will it be.
Speaker 8 (55:17):
Yankees Mets or Yankees Dodgers in La Sunday Night. Game
six of the NLC AS takes place on FS one again.
Dodgers are up three games to two, hosting the Mets.
A Game seven would be Monday night in Los Angeles.
Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis is out this weekend with
a sprain shoulder. Mason Rudolph will start Sunday. Titans wide
receiver Trailing Burks is on ir with a knee injury.
(55:39):
The Steelers plan to start quarterback Russell Wilson's Sunday night.
He took the first team reps this week. The Browns
activated running back Nick Chubb after last year's knee injuries.
The forty nine Ers elevated kicker Anders Carlson An activated
first round wide receiver Ricky Pearsall. That's the Big Fox
TV game on Sunday. San Francisco hosting Kansas City. Seahawks
running back Kenneth Walker is questionable due to illness. Cardinals
(56:03):
wide receiver Marvin Harrison Junior will play Monday against the Chargers.
He has cleared concussion protocol. Fifth ranked Georgia won at
number one Texas, thirty to fifteen. The Bulldogs led twenty
three to nothing at the half. Sixth rank Miami won
fifty two to forty five at Louisville four touchdown passes
for cam Ward. The Tennessee Valls scored ten points against
(56:24):
Alabama in the last six minutes, beat Bama twenty four
to seventeen. Iowa State, ranked ninth, is still undefeated after
a thirty eight to thirty five decision over UCF tonight,
getting a touchdown with thirty seconds left. Missouri, ranked nineteenth,
was trailing Auburn seventeen to three in the third quarter.
Miszoo wins with a touchdown in the final minute twenty
(56:45):
one seventeen, and Maryland beat USC twenty nine twenty eight
in a comeback. The Trojans three and four on the season.
Can I say that again out loud? The Trojans are
three and four?
Speaker 3 (56:58):
Oh my goodness.
Speaker 8 (56:59):
And this note, by the way, from the athletic Since
Lincoln Riley was hired a couple of years ago, USC
has already lost five times in games that they led
by two touchdowns, which is the most by any FBS
team in that span. In fact, three of those five
losses came after leading by fourteen points or more in
(57:19):
the second half, like tonight.
Speaker 3 (57:21):
This is one of those nights we need like five hours.
Speaker 2 (57:24):
We had a great Oklahoma versus USC State of the
Program segment that is gonna hit the cutting room floor.
I'm a feeling we'll be able to dust that one
off some time.
Speaker 3 (57:34):
Laters.
Speaker 7 (57:34):
This year Oklahoma was home and losing that badly. Today.
Speaker 3 (57:39):
All right to Saga, thank you very much.
Speaker 2 (57:41):
This is Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Sunday now Saturday,
depending on where you are to Saga wa be back
in just a few minutes with his extended update. But
with that said, we are gonna go right to the phones.
The best insider in the business, JP Morosi, our Fox
Sports rate d MLB insider JP first of all, and
(58:04):
I sincerely mean this, and I speak for Jason. We
know you were doing TV, we know how busy you are,
especially this time of year, and more than anything, we're
just grateful that you're taking a few minutes to join us.
So thank you for joining us.
Speaker 4 (58:16):
JP.
Speaker 3 (58:17):
How you doing, my friend.
Speaker 6 (58:18):
I'm doing great. Aaron and Jason. Great to with you
guys both. You're great, wonderful friends of mine, so it's
my pleasure to be here. We just got off the
air with our MLB data cast on True TV, which
is a lot of fun working with Dexter Fowler, Mike
Petrillo there, and certainly I will say this, Juan Soto,
John Carlos Danton gave us plenty of numbers to think
(58:40):
about with the amazing at bat that Soto put out
there and led to the Yankees winning their first penance
in two thousand and nine.
Speaker 3 (58:47):
So let's get right into it. JP.
Speaker 2 (58:49):
You know, it's funny because I remember talking to you
with j Martin and other shows that we've done about
the frustration with the Yankees in previous years with Aaron Boone,
with John Carlos, and it is amazing what a difference
twelve twenty four months can make come with Ian Carlos
Stanton winning the ALECSMVP tonight obviously going back to the
(59:09):
World Series, best team in the AL all year and
a very deserving ALE Champ.
Speaker 6 (59:15):
Very deserving and they were the best team in the
league all season long. It was a classic. It's interesting.
It was a classic ALCS with three amazing games in
the middle of it here in Cleveland. And yet you
would say that usually you see a classic World Series
or a classic LCS goes seven games. This was a
(59:36):
classic five gamer, which you don't often get, but especially
these last three games were just so epic with the
back and forth, and you're right about I think that
the larger story of the Yankees, which is Aaron Boone
has one of the toughest jobs in sports. And whether
you want to talk about the coach of the Cowboys
or the coach of Alabama football, whatever it is, this
(59:58):
is one of the five or six highest profile jobs
in American sports. The Yankees bears repeating We mentioned this
today on the air. They've got the most championships of
any pro sports team in North America. They have more
than the Canadians, more than the Packers, more than the Cowboys,
more than the Celtics, more than everybody, And so there's
just such prestige that comes with this team, and when
(01:00:19):
you haven't won it all in fifteen years in New York,
it feels like it's an eternity. And I think that
what happened this year was they finally figured out the pitching.
They got a healthy version of stand at the time
of year that mattered the most. They got another MVP
season from Judge and some meaningful contributions in the playoffs.
He hasn't been their best player in the playoffs, but
(01:00:39):
he's been still I think productive, and then Juan Soto
was just the man who made it all work. It
was the case tonight and you heard him in his
postgame interview with Lawrence Jabara on the field, he just
believed and knew that he was better than anybody else
in that spot, and the way the way that he
just projected them into the world and resulted in this
(01:01:02):
amazing home run to center field that's still going still
up there in the air somewhere. It was just unbelievable
to watch it and to be able to describe these
moments pretty special.
Speaker 4 (01:01:12):
It was pretty amazing. JP watching Sodo at the plate
after every pitch, just nodding towards the pitcher, basically saying
watch yourself, and then he just for one and he
took him yard on it. It's just there's nobody I
haven't seen somebody that wears that uniform in a long
time that looks more at home in that uniform than
(01:01:34):
Juan Soto. Like it just it looks like you should
have been wearing a Yankees uniform his entire career, if
that makes sense.
Speaker 6 (01:01:41):
No, you're right, and he's been there for one year
and certainly we know that when when you want to
call me on a Chile November weekend or a December
weekend and we're talking about where Wan Soto's gonna sign,
it's probably me the pers thing you ask you about,
because you should based on what happened tonight, like put
a put a little pin in what happened tonight. And
then when when we ask each other what he's worth,
(01:02:02):
we're going to circle back and say, remember that bad
against Cleveland, the dog escape. And by the way, when
Scott Boris puts together his presentation materials for all the teams,
he may just actually, in lieu of what used to
be like a binder and this really presentation, he might
just actually like send them a video file of that
at bat and just like say, here it is, here's why,
(01:02:24):
here's why he's worth five hundred million, six or million,
whatever it's going to be. And I think you're right
that he's that he is at home in that uniform.
Not everybody is. Not everybody wants it. Some people say
they want it, but they don't actually want it. He
clearly wants it. He wants that stage. And it was interesting.
It's he did not call his shot in the way
(01:02:46):
that Babe Ruth called his shot, but it was like
the glare and the nods, which I saw as well, Jason.
It's a good observation. It was almost like like his
swagger called the shot, if that makes it just by
the way he was like if one could call a
shot with his eyes, he did it, and I think
it was pretty cool to be able to just watch
(01:03:08):
that level of confidence coming out in that moment.
Speaker 2 (01:03:11):
JP Morosi joining us here, Fox Sports Radio eron tors
Jason Martin. By the way, Jp, I I I do
want to correct one thing you said earlier. You said,
the Yankees job is as as tough as the Cowboys job.
After what the Lions did to your cowboys, if Mike
McCarthy or after what your Lions did to the Cowboys,
I was gonna say, I think Mike McCarthy might have
permanent immunity because if he didn't get fired after that one,
(01:03:32):
I don't know when he will.
Speaker 6 (01:03:33):
But hey, there you go. I understand there's been a
little bit of back and forth. I've been I've been
a little bit dialed in on the baseball front, but
I am I am, I am aware, even even me
who I'm somewhat ensconced in this in this baseball echo chamber,
I even caught a few whispers, of course, in involving
(01:03:53):
Jerry Jones and the and the Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (01:03:55):
No, I'm just teasing, man. We love having you and
totally teasing there. But I will ask you this. I'm
going to ask you the most cliche question that probably
people who love baseball get annoyed by. But how important
or how good is it for Major League Baseball? Because listen,
it's no disrespect to the Guardians or any of these
small market teams, but we're either going to get a
Subway Series or Dodgers Yankees, And that feels like the
(01:04:19):
people who run this league I can't imagine it could
be much more excited about the possibilities of what are
going to come over the next few weeks.
Speaker 6 (01:04:27):
I think it's fair. I mean, if you ask anybody
at Fox, or if you ask anybody at MLB in
an honest moment, I think, what cities, what franchises elevate
the awareness of the sport and really stimulate a lot
of debate and conversation. And it's it's these franchises for
the same reasons that the NBA is strong. When when
(01:04:49):
the Celtics are good, and why we just talked about
the Cowboys a minute ago. And certainly I did not
grow up in New York or La, so I've got
the perspective of a Midwesterner on this. I can tell
you that that just from working in the sport, it matters.
It matters that you're going to see depending on if
it's if, if it's Dodgers Yankees by November first or so,
(01:05:13):
either Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, John Carlos, Stan Garritt Cole
or choey Otani, Mookie Bets, Freddie Freeman, and that group
will be one of those groups is going to be
a World three champion, or if it's the Mets, Lindor's
in that conversation. So you're going to have people who
are who are really well known figures in the game,
(01:05:33):
whose whose stories really matter in a deep way to people.
That's part of the appeal of we look back at
the last twenty years. One of the reasons why, if
you think about this, why Lebron has been so permanent
in the American consciousness for two decades is because, with
very few exceptions, he was almost always on great teams
(01:05:57):
that either won the championship or or the fact that
they didn't win the championship was national news, right.
Speaker 8 (01:06:02):
I mean, it's basically.
Speaker 6 (01:06:03):
Been his entire career, and I think that we don't
have that as much in baseball. And the fact that
you get that now with jud Jirotani or players of
that caliber, it is just good for the game. It's
empirically good for the game. It's going to make baseball
more of a broad conversation around the country, which is great.
And the Guardians had a phenomenal year. But there's also
(01:06:25):
no denying that when New York is involved in the
World Series, it just feels different. And that's going to
be the case for the first time in fifteen years.
Speaker 4 (01:06:33):
JPL look at this and I see different storylines, and
I also see futility trying to be erased by multiple managers,
Like you've got Roger or, you've got Dave Robertson, You've
got Aaron Boone, and then you've got the futility of
the owner of the Mets, Cohen and what happened to
him last year and then coming back and now you
find them, they find themselves where they are. I don't
(01:06:53):
know what is the best storyline that could come out
of all of this. But I think either way the
World Series goes, in terms of whether it's Mets, Dodgers, Yankees,
there just seemed to be a myriad of different angles
for a journalist or for anybody that's covering or wanting
to find a reason to pay attention to it. You
have that not just the stars on the field, but
(01:07:14):
you have a lot of storylines surrounding these organizations as well.
Speaker 6 (01:07:18):
Oh you do. And I think you know, I've been
fortunate in my life to cover the World Series a
number of times, and I think that one thing that
I would try to remind myself and even you know
this this week working on the ALCS, is that it's
important for us to have those ideas and what it
means for the legacy of someone like in Otani or
(01:07:39):
a Joran, Aaron Boen or Dave Roberts or or certainly
from the from the Mets perspective, if it's Carlos Mendoza
as as the second Venezuelan manager ever in the Big
League and he's able to get seem the World Series
in year one, what an amazing achievement that would be.
And by the way, up until last year he was
the bench coach of the New York Yankees. So there's
a lot of storylines there. And yet I think the
(01:08:01):
best thing about this ALCS and why I think we're
going to remember it, is there was nothing contrived about
about the big moments. The big moments were the Guardians
had them in Game three with Fry and with John
Canzyoel and then also the same night it was Stanton
and Judge, and last night it was it was Stanton again,
(01:08:21):
and tonight it was Stanton and Soto and and these
are the players that you are wanting to see come
up big and they did, and that that, to me,
is is the best part about the game. The game
in this beautiful way. As chaotic as this game was,
in as many smaller moments there should there should have
(01:08:42):
been a double play turned moments that were missed and
could have happened. Yes, but at the end of the day,
this was about the best players in the world playing
like the best players in the world. And that is
the best show, the best reality TV, the best anything
that we can produce. It's just like all those years
when when Brady would would come up with a great
(01:09:04):
drive to win the Super Bowl or the way Mahomes
does it. Now, stay out of their way. They're just
they're so great, and just appreciate what we've got. I
think that's my one bit of advice, whether it's baseball
or any sport right now, To be honest with you,
I think that our American sports conversation does sort of
it gets drawn too, like some of these divisive issues
(01:09:24):
and things that are that are at times contrived. Sometimes
they're real, but there are a lot of times that
sort of contrived and created. Just enjoy this amazing sport
that we've got, whatever it is in front of us,
and these great athletes and the great people who play
it because often, as as the great Bob Cole would
say in Canada, that often the great players are special people.
(01:09:45):
We've got some special people that we can watch do
their thing here in the next couple of weeks.
Speaker 2 (01:09:48):
Last one for you, JP, JP Morosi joining us of
course our Fox Sports Radio MLB Insider straight off the broadcast.
Speaker 3 (01:09:55):
We appreciate your time so much. Jp.
Speaker 2 (01:09:58):
We got to ask you, you know tomorrow night, Dodger Stadium,
Dodgers looking to close it out Mets of course, coming
off that game five win what do you expect to
see on Sunday evening.
Speaker 6 (01:10:07):
I think the Dodgers find a way to get it done.
I know there's been a lot of focus on the
inability to close it out and the pressure, then the
conversation around Jack Flaherty in Game five. The Dodgers have
the better roster, and I think at the end of
the day, they've got two games to play at home
and the Mets are coming in, and the Mets there,
(01:10:29):
they have the benefit of of not a lot of
people thinking that they're going to win. And to be fair,
last year the NLCS was won by a team and
the Diamondbacks, who was going to play the Phillies in
the Phillies home ballpark, and there was every reason to
believe the players are gonna win those two games, or
at least one of the two, and they didn't. The
Diamondbacks did, so we can always be surprised by baseball.
(01:10:51):
But the Dodgers to me, are the better team and
the Dodgers I believe will win Game six.
Speaker 2 (01:10:55):
JP Morosi, you can hear him, of course on the
True TV stat cap as well as our Fox Sports
Radio MLB insider.
Speaker 3 (01:11:05):
JP.
Speaker 2 (01:11:05):
I know I said it earlier, but we are so
grateful that you made a few minutes straight off the broadcast.
Thank you so much, and I have a feeling people
will be hearing a lot of you on these airwaves.
So thank you for joining us, and now we look
forward to hearing you on all the shows over the
next couple of weeks.
Speaker 3 (01:11:21):
Cannot wait.
Speaker 6 (01:11:22):
Sounds great, reach out anytime, my friends. Appreciate your friendship,
but have a wonderful weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:11:26):
That was JP Morosi. Make sure you're following him on
Twitter app Sean Morose. JP is the absolute best. By
the way, JP, if you're still listening, that was a
really clunky cowboys joke on my part.
Speaker 3 (01:11:37):
I was trying to be funny. I don't think it
came out that way.
Speaker 4 (01:11:40):
So kind of like CD lambs are out running.
Speaker 2 (01:11:43):
Yeah, okay, oh my goodness. We I'll tell you what
we got about an hour and twenty minutes left. We're
gonna come back to Sager. Will get you caught up
on everything that you missed. We'll put a bow out
of college football. There's still more stuff coming out from
that Georgia Texas you know, controversial play. Georgia won that game.
(01:12:03):
We'll talk a little bit more baseball and then we
will eventually get to Week seven of the NFL season.
Because not sure if you heard, but we got some
big ones coming up tomorrow on Sunday. What a Saturday night.
These are the Saturday nights we live for sports fans.
This is Fox Sports Radio. Welcome back everybody, Fox Sports Radio,
(01:12:25):
Eric Tords, Jason Martin. We are broadcasting live from the
Tyreck dot Com studios. Have mentioned it a few times,
but these are the Saturdays that we live for as
sports fans, as sports commentators, and so to get you
caught up on everything, Steve Desager, go ahead to Sager.
Speaker 8 (01:12:41):
Guys, the Cleveland Guardians franchise is still without a title
since nineteen forty eight. Wow, that is the longest current
drought in the sport. That is even longer than Detroit
has gone without a football title in the NFL. Just
to put in perspective, it's not the longest. I mean,
the Arizona Cardinals to exist after all, but Gaecarlos Stanton
(01:13:03):
had four hits in this series, all of them were homers.
He was named ALCS MVP. Wan Soto with the tenth
inning homer gets him the win at Cleveland five to
two in ten. Onto the World Series. Now we talk
about the possibilities for great ratings with the Yankees on
one side and either the Mets or Dodgers on the
other side. The World Series starts on Fox TV on Friday,
(01:13:23):
Wan Soto's birthday. Keep in mind the context. Last year's
World Series on Fox was the lowest rated World Series
in history, Texas beating Arizona. The only thing that even
approached that in World Series history was in twenty twenty,
when almost no TV programs were getting good ratings. In
the last twenty years of the World Series, the only
(01:13:46):
World Series that averaged twenty million viewers plus was when
the Cubs finally won it all in twenty sixteen. In fact,
the Cubs Game seven clincher, which was a classic at Cleveland. Ironically,
that got forty million viewers. For any TV show in
this era of television, that's just an astounding number, any
(01:14:06):
non Super Bowl thing, I should say, that's an astounding number.
Put it this way, forty million viewers for that Cubs clincher.
The NFL playoffs didn't even get forty million on average
last January going into the Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (01:14:19):
Can I just say really quick.
Speaker 2 (01:14:21):
I think about that twenty twenty twenty twenty one time
frame because every time it comes up, it's like the
lowest rating since the twenties.
Speaker 3 (01:14:28):
What were we doing?
Speaker 2 (01:14:30):
Everybody was stuck at their house and all the TV
ratings were low? Was there that I know, Tiger King
had just come out on Netflix, but was there that
much going on in the world.
Speaker 4 (01:14:37):
You had empty you had empty stadiums, and yeah, I
mean I think a lot of people checked out. They
just checked out everything.
Speaker 2 (01:14:45):
You're right, I probably should joke about it was a
tough time, but I think about it because every time
it's like, it's the lowest rated this since twenty twenty one,
and I'm.
Speaker 3 (01:14:53):
Like, we were all home. But anyway, the only.
Speaker 8 (01:14:55):
Thing that was getting good ratings was the Jordan documentary
that that's absolutely right.
Speaker 7 (01:14:59):
Yeah, it's so good.
Speaker 8 (01:15:00):
The ESPN aside from that documentary, the ESPN ratings as
a channel were just I mean, what they cratered, I
believe is the proper terminology.
Speaker 7 (01:15:09):
They didn't go through the roof.
Speaker 8 (01:15:10):
It was quite the opposite to have no games, I
mean literally no games week after week and attempt to
track people to your channel. It was astoundingly bad for them.
So when we had Cubs finally winning a World Series,
huge ratings. Twenty years ago, when we had the Red
Sox finally win a World Series, that was big ratings.
But those kind of numbers just don't come along in
(01:15:31):
television in general anymore. So yeah, I think we can
safely say it's going to get more than last year.
But last year was the all time worst, with Texas
beating Arizona. Notable that the Yankees have gone fifteen years
without being back in the World Series because they've had
good teams. They've been to the ALCS multiple times, including
three ALCS losses to Houston in that span, but they
(01:15:55):
finally make it. It's a little asdounding, not quite so
much as when the Dodge, for example, recently had a
near thirty year drought before finally making the World Series.
Speaker 7 (01:16:05):
By the way, when we're.
Speaker 8 (01:16:05):
Talking about ratings, I don't know if you noticed TNT,
which is losing the NBA apparently after this next season
TNT has hockey. Their ratings have been predictably atrocious. I
mean this week it was, and not just for TNT
this week. Their national game on Wednesday got about four
hundred thousand viewers in the whole country, and the night
(01:16:26):
before ESPN carried the NHL and that was only about
four hundred thousand viewers.
Speaker 4 (01:16:31):
I don't know what the fix is, man, Like, the
sport is still good, the sport is still fun to watch.
It just seems yeah, that's true, it's not as good
on TV, but it's still It's crazy to me. I
don't know what you can do at this point.
Speaker 8 (01:16:46):
I mean, the last NASCAR race last weekend was two
point four million. The hockey zero point for four million,
if you want to pay it that way. So we
had the Texas Longhorns losing at home tonight. Georgia beat
him thirty to fifteen. Bulldogs beat them up in the
first half. It was twenty three to nothing at the break.
Ap points out that this hasn't happened in the last
forty years that a number one team lost at home
(01:17:08):
by this much.
Speaker 7 (01:17:09):
You'd have to go back.
Speaker 8 (01:17:10):
To number one rank pit losing this badly at home
in nineteen eighty two to Notre Dame and in nineteen
eighty one to rival Penn State. And then there's the
USC loss giving up fifteen points at Maryland in the
last ten minutes and losing to the Terps twenty nine
twenty eight, which means Lincoln Riley's record going back a
full year is five and nine. AP pointing out that
(01:17:34):
coach Clay Helton never had a fourteen game stretch. That
bad as USC coach bad man, that is bad. There
are two late games, only two in college football. TCU
leads thirteen to nothing at Utah in the middle of
the third quarter. Utah's quarterback these days is Isaac Wilson,
and he has about fifty yards passing. UNLV leads in
the fourth at Oregon State twenty six seventeen. Wake Forest
(01:17:58):
won at Yukon Today twenty three Connecticut was four and
oh at home until this. NC State was at Cal
in a battle of teams zero to three in the
ACC nd C. State wins at twenty four to twenty
three because Cal misses a short field.
Speaker 7 (01:18:14):
Goal in the last two minutes.
Speaker 8 (01:18:16):
And for those who didn't see last night, Duke six
and one beat Florida State, which is one and six.
Today we had Arizona State at Cincinnati. That is a
big twelve matchup. This Arizona State at Cincinnati game today.
Cincinnati was up twenty four to seven, at the half,
beat the sun Devils twenty four to fourteen, and at
the end of the game, Arizona State's head coach Kenny
(01:18:38):
Dillingham and his press conference said our kicking game is atrocious.
His kicker missed both of his field goal attempts. Anyone
on campus who can kick should email me, and we're
going to have kicking tryouts on Monday.
Speaker 7 (01:18:51):
I am dead serious.
Speaker 8 (01:18:53):
Later that same day, coach takes to Twitter and says
it wasn't the kicking, it wasn't the players not playing
hard enough. It was one hundred percent on me.
Speaker 7 (01:19:01):
I'll be better end quote.
Speaker 2 (01:19:03):
I'm not gonna lie in the nil era. I don't
really feel bad about just crushing. I mean, I know
they say you should never crush players publicly.
Speaker 8 (01:19:10):
I'm sure the ASU kicker is getting about two dollars
and fifty cents.
Speaker 4 (01:19:14):
Does that supplant Peyton Manning for the most savage kicker?
Speaker 7 (01:19:19):
Yeah? Of a kicker? Yeah?
Speaker 8 (01:19:21):
Yes, The I word was not used, but he was
thinking it. Missouri was at home and beating Auburn in
twenty one seventeen. In case you didn't hear, the Missouri
quarterback was in the hospitals for much of race game,
came back from the early ankle injury and engineered them
to a comeback. When twenty one seventeen with a late TD.
Speaker 2 (01:19:40):
That's how crazy this Saturday has been. Two hours and
fifty one hour and fifty four minutes in before we
mentioned the quarterback who came back from the hospital to
lead his team to victory. So thank you to Segar.
We still got an hour on air. We're going to
come back. We got to get back to Georgia, Texas.
Kirby Smart is on fire about what happened in that game,
plus the rest of a busy week.
Speaker 3 (01:20:01):
Week seven an NFL Fox sporks for you.
Speaker 1 (01:20:04):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 3 (01:20:07):
Welcome in everybody.
Speaker 2 (01:20:09):
Our three Fox Sports Radio er Torus Jason Martin. We
are broadcasting live from the tyreck dot Com studios tireraq
dot com. We'll help you get there an unmatched selection,
fast free shipping, free roadh hazard protection, and over ten

(01:20:31):
should be Listen as the SEGA just told you, Uh,
we do have a baseball final. The New York Yankees
beat the Cleveland Guardians in extra innings. They advanced to
their first World Series since two thousand and nine. John
Carlos Stanton was named the ALCS MVP. Ajan Soto three
run home run in the top of the tenth inning
(01:20:54):
was the difference in this one. We talked about baseball
where we talked about that game essentially all of our
two if you missed any of it. JP Morosi joined us.
He was incredible. Make sure to go back and download
the podcast. J mart I do want to get back
to the college football game, though, because first of all,
(01:21:15):
you had number one falling, which is always a big story.
Georgia wins thirty to fifteen, as de Sagre just told you,
but I will say, you know some stuff that has
come out after the game. Kirby Smart being very vocal
about a very specific play. We could get into some
sound and half a second, but I'll just set it
up because this is very important and very consequential.
Speaker 3 (01:21:39):
In the game.
Speaker 2 (01:21:39):
In the third quarter, there was a very just frankly
a concerning play in which Texas intercepted a Carson Beck pass.
It was called pass interference on the field, negating the
negating the interception for Texas. Obviously, that would mean Georgia
keeps the ball. At that point, Texas fans throw debris
(01:22:03):
on the field, causing a stoppage in the game. As
they're cleaning up the debris on the field, the refs
announce that it is not an interception. We can't even
say they overturned the call because in college football it
is not a reviewable call. So to the point that
(01:22:23):
j Martin has brought up throughout the day, the only
explanation is that as the cleanup was going on. As
the cleanup was going on, it's clear the refs obviously
saw replays on the big screen, and it's just it's
a bad precedent to set for the simple reason of
(01:22:43):
now fans, if nothing is done by the NCAA or
the SEC, fans will feel like, hey, we can go ahead,
throw debris on the field, stop a game, and hope
that we can get a call overturned. Kirby Smart was
actually talked about a few different things in a very
brief exchange on the postgame broadcast, but here is what
(01:23:06):
he said to ESPN after the game.
Speaker 9 (01:23:08):
Nobody gave us a chance. Your whole network doubted us.
Nobody believed us, and then they tried to rob us
with calls in this place. And these guys are so resilient,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (01:23:20):
We talked about intent.
Speaker 9 (01:23:21):
What was our intent when we walked on the field,
arn Temple was not to take pictures, not to do
all the superstar stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:23:27):
Arn te arn Tent was to eight all right.
Speaker 2 (01:23:30):
So I want to get back to the nobody believed
in us stuff in a second, but I want to
start with what he said they tried to rob us.
I would mention after the game, Seth. This is a
quote that Seth Emerson from the Athletic has pulled. I
assume it was in a post game availability Kirby Smart
saying exactly what we said j Martin our one. He said, quote, Now,
(01:23:50):
you've said a precedent that if you throw a bunch
of stuff on the field and in danger athletes, that
you got a chance to get your call reversed. And
that's unfortunate because to me, that's one more update on
this topic because it is going to be a story
on Sunday and Monday as well.
Speaker 6 (01:24:07):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:24:08):
This is from Ross Stellinger while on the field after
the game. Georgia President President Jeer Morehead and a D
Josh Brooks clearly frustrated decline clearly frustrated declined comment on
the reversal of the past interference. Morehead was seen speaking
with SEC Commissioner Greg Sanki while on the field. J
(01:24:28):
mart I want to get to Georgia winning because that
is consequential.
Speaker 3 (01:24:33):
But this is going to be a story one way
or the other.
Speaker 2 (01:24:36):
Either the SEC the NCAA is going to step in
and do something about this, or if they don't. I
think Kirby Smart has the point that we made earlier.
It's gonna incentivize other fan bases to do the same
if they get a call that they don't like.
Speaker 4 (01:24:51):
There's no way they that this does not get taken
care of before more games are played, before the first
games of this ton like you can't. You cannot have
a sport where this is a thing that can happen,
Like the talking to Greg Sankie when it happened with Tennessee,
and that was a little bit of a different environment.
They didn't end up overturning a call. They were upset
(01:25:12):
because of a spot at that point where the Tennessee fans,
as I was in attendance, that night against Ole Miss.
But here you have a scenario where the fans bad
behavior ended up benefiting that team, and there will be
a fine, no question about that, from the SEC to Texas.
(01:25:34):
For Tennessee it was a quarter of a million, it'll
probably be something like that. But that's nothing. That's not
going to be it like the NCUBLEA, the SEC, but
really the NC DOUBLEA, like college football, has to address
this immediately and say no when this happens. I don't
know what the penalty can be, but there's got to
be something first. I mean, the most amazing thing about
(01:25:55):
all this was no delay a game, no unsportsmanlike con
nothing at all that penalized Texas on the field. And look,
the call was wrong on the field. It shouldn't have
been a PI call. It was a bad call. But
the rule state that you can't then review it, So
that should mean you can't look at a scoreboard and
(01:26:17):
then make a decision either because the fans have hijacked
the game for seven, eight minutes or however long it was,
and then the officials are, well, they're throwing stuff. Maybe
they were right like that. That can't be a thing.
The fans cannot believe that they can influence the way
a game is going to go or a call is
going to go by bad behavior, Like they need to
(01:26:39):
sit in the seats and they can yell and they
can jeer, and they could do all that kind of stuff.
But to Kirby's point, it's not just dangerous for the athletes,
it's dangerous for the fans. If you're in the upper
deck and you're chucking stuff down and it doesn't get
to the field, who knows who it lands on. If
it lands on my three year old daughter, we're going
to have a problem. Like that's the kind of thing
that we're talking about, Like, this can't be a thing.
(01:27:00):
This is worse than court storming. This is worse than
field storming for those to have a problem with that,
this is this gets to the integrity of everything that
is happening. So I imagine by Monday this is addressed
and they figure something out. Because Kirby smart is right.
Anybody that's on this side is right. I don't think
(01:27:21):
that there is an argument against it, quite frankly, like
you want to try to make that argument by all
means do, but I think that this is catastrophic if
you don't fix it immediately, because if you're an Ohio
State fan, if you're an Alabama fan going forward, if
you are a Tennessee fan, if you're a USC fan,
Michigan fan, whoever it is, if it's a call, if
(01:27:42):
it's fairly questionable, if you don't like it when you
see it on the scoreboard, just start chucking stuff because
it's not going to hurt you anyway, Like you're not
going to be the one paying the fine, and it
might actually get the call overturn. Nope, Nope, that's got
to be fixed tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (01:27:58):
By the way.
Speaker 2 (01:27:59):
And I do want to get to the Georgia stuff,
you know, the Kirby smart nobody believed in us. There
was a second quote that I'm seeing now that I
actually think is worth noting, from Steve Sarkisian's point that
has nothing to do with any of this. In the
second quarter, with Texas down twenty to nothing, Steve Sarkishan
put in arch manning. After the game, sark was asked
about it, he said, quote Quinn's our starting quarterback, J
(01:28:22):
Mart I gotta be honest, I might be making something
out of nothing, and maybe you're gonna disagree with me altogether.
I thought that was a stunning move from Steve Sarkisian
to set it up. Arch Manning did come in in
the second quarter. The argument would be that essentially, basically
(01:28:43):
the argument is that Quinn ewers, especially with the injury
that he suffered a few weeks ago, the oblique, he's
not moving well and arch Manning does give you a
little bit more with with your legs. But I just
think it it was a weird thing to do, in
my opinion, and I was thinking about this actually on
the drive in, is what is the best case scenario
(01:29:05):
arch sparks your offense and then all of a sudden,
you know, yeah, and then all of a sudden you
might actually have to start him, or you know, at
least at the very least as a controversy, Now you
have two quarterbacks that didn't play well. I don't want
to take away from Georgia because they had a lot
to do with it. One I was surprised, and two generally,
J mart I just tend not to like disagree fundamentally
(01:29:30):
with coaching decisions on stuff that you know, I'm not
in that facility every day. But if Quinn Yours is
healthy enough to come back into that game. You know, like,
if he's just not healthy, then that's one thing, and
you pull him out and you say, we gotta get
him healthy for whatever. We're down twenty to nothing. But
you put Arch in, that doesn't work. Neither quarterback looks good.
(01:29:52):
Then you put Quinn in.
Speaker 3 (01:29:54):
It doesn't.
Speaker 2 (01:29:55):
There's not a controversy because Quinn finished the game. I
just thought it was weird, and I just it was
something I fundamentally disagreed with in that moment.
Speaker 4 (01:30:03):
Jmark, Yeah, I mean I understood it logically from an
on field standpoint. In the moment, if you wanted to
try and get a spark with Arch's legs and both
guys are capable, we get that. But this is quinn
Ewer's team. And it felt like the very first time
that Texas's backs were really against the wall, the first
(01:30:26):
time this season where they really faced like legitimate opposition
and legitimate challenge, and they were kind of pushed a
little bit and pressured a little bit. Sarkisian just cracked him,
was like, let's throw Arch in there like that. I
don't think you do that. I don't think that it
benefits Arch. I don't think that it benefits Texas. Maybe
you're just trying to let yours kind of get his
(01:30:47):
head about him for a series. I mean, you can
see that. But they never took Brady out of the games.
They never take Mahomes out of the games to put
the backup in for a series. Even if Mahomes is struggling,
it's Quinn youwr's team, Like Ryder died with him. I
did not. I didn't like it either. I understood it
from you need somebody that can be mobile, because right
(01:31:07):
now our offensive line just flat out has nothing for
their front seven. I mean, they were dominating them, especially
in the first half, just just absolutely mulling them, crushing them.
But at the same time, like, if yours is healthy,
he's the guy who was QB one for a reason
this year. Art is going to be your future, but
(01:31:28):
your present is this guy who's been really good for
you all year long. And unless he's injured, that just
seems like the only thing that comes out of that
is yours is now five percent less confident than he
was before that happened. And I know that that's not
like a tremendous deal, and I'm sure he's gonna overcome
it and be fine. And I know that they've been
(01:31:49):
you know, good together and working hard in practice, and
you've heard a lot of good things about all of
them and how they're all dialed in and helping each
other and all this stuff, But it can't feel great
for quinn ewers two at the first at the first
sign of a little bit of caution, we're gonna go
throw the other guy in. That's that's just that just
(01:32:09):
felt like a very rash, kind of quick, almost panicish
kind of move in a game where I'm not sure
you needed to do that.
Speaker 2 (01:32:18):
See I felt the exact same way, and I just
feel like, again, h if if he's if it's because
he's injured and that's impacting his mobility, then that's fine,
but he probably shouldn't play the rest of the game.
But you brought him back in, and like you said,
all it did was hurt his confidence. Arch I don't
think we'll probably see him in any more high leverage situations.
(01:32:39):
But that couldn't have helped his confidence either, And it
felt it did felt feel panicky to me.
Speaker 3 (01:32:46):
And by the way, this isn't the.
Speaker 2 (01:32:48):
National Championship gay with with Nick Saban having to make
a two of versus Jaialen hurts decision. It's like it's
week six, week eight. Excuse me, that's a twelve team
playoff era. I hate to do the you can serve
a loss, but you could survive a loss. And I
just I didn't love that decision by Steve Sarkisian. But
he does say after the game that there is no
(01:33:09):
quarterback controversy. Quinn you Wes is our quarterback. Lastly, we
got to get back to to Kirby Smart's other part
of that quote in which he laid it out, he said,
this was a big one for us, and nobody believed
in us.
Speaker 3 (01:33:22):
You know, I don't know that.
Speaker 2 (01:33:24):
That's necessarily the case, but I will say it was
the first time in probably three years that you could
really sit there and make the argument that most people
really did not feel good about Georgia coming into a game.
They lose Tobama a few weeks ago, that that loss
is not held up well, but they win this game,
and now look, they're right back in the conversation for
(01:33:45):
everything that they want to be involved in.
Speaker 3 (01:33:47):
They certainly weren't out.
Speaker 2 (01:33:48):
Of it with the Alabama loss, but they they would
have been out of a lot of stuff if they
had lost tonight, you know, would have been tough to
get back in that SEC title race, and then you're
really on the fringes of the playoff conversation. Now you're
gonna be the highest ranked SEC team, you have the
pathway to the SEC Championship game. I actually think there's
an argument for number one in the country if you
factor in that you beat Clemson, that law, that win
(01:34:10):
looks better and better every single week you beat Texas
on the road. I know we have a great affiliate
in Eugene, Oregon and another one in Portland, Oregon that
would disagree. But independent of who's number one, that doesn't
really matter. Georgia is back in the conversation as the
best team in this sport and a team that's absolutely
capable of winning it all.
Speaker 4 (01:34:29):
Absolutely, I agree with all that. I think Oregon is
number one, but I think Georgia should be right behind him,
and I assume that they probably will be. But you
can argue they're the best team in the country outside
of one problem, and that is in real pressure situations
for four quarters. I just have not been impressed at
(01:34:53):
all by Carson Beck. Now, he has had moments like
in the second half against Alabama, and he made some play.
I mean, he had three picks in ninety had two
in the first quarter. He seems to come and go
a little bit more often than you would want. Like
it's that is something that they're going to have to avoid.
Like they're winning in spite of him. They won because
of defense and other factors in this game more so
(01:35:16):
than they did because of what they were doing offensively,
especially at the quarterback position. And Beck, again, Beck almost
single handedly gave Alabama that game in the first half
of the way he was playing there. Like, they're not
going to continue to be able to overcome that against
some of those teams in the Big Ten and some
of the other opponents that they might see in the
college football playoff. Like, I know we've made a point
(01:35:38):
of this at some point in the past, but you
get more and more impressed, and it's kind of like
a president's out of office for about twenty years and
you look back and you realize, yeah, he was better
than I thought. And not always I mean, Jimmy Carter
was still a president, but generally speaking, it's you look
back more finely the Stets Bennett era. No doubt, for
(01:36:02):
Georgia and how he is going to be viewed long term.
I mean, he took it hardcore, you know, for for
a couple of years for various reasons, and even us
I think at one point said take him out of
the game before the national title because the way he
played in the SEC Championship against Bryce Young or against sorry,
against Alabama, and then they end up winning the national
(01:36:23):
title with him, Like you realize how good he was
and how like rock solid, consistent and just a leader
he was, and how much his team bought in just
watching Beck because Beck's not bad, but Stetson Bennett, it
was just an absolute warrior for them, and you could
(01:36:43):
just you can see such a difference now. I think
we can appreciate Stet's and Bennett a lot more today
than maybe we did while he was playing.
Speaker 3 (01:36:51):
Don't disagree on any of that.
Speaker 2 (01:36:53):
A fascinating day in college football if you missed it
by the way hour one. We did talk a lot
about the Bama tennis game as Alabama loses for the
second time in three weeks. Ironically, both times of the
State of Tennessee and Alabama is on the fringes as
well said it a few times. This is one of
those those nights where we need more than three hours.
But you know what, Berdie Fratto is gonna take the
(01:37:15):
torch from us at two am Eastern and keep it going.
Tell you what, though, j Martin, we will come back.
When we do, we gotta start looking ahead to week
seven of the NFL. You know, it's a good night,
a good Saturday night where we have not talked a
single second of NFL two and a half hours into
the show, and I don't think the bosses would complain
one bit, but we will come back.
Speaker 3 (01:37:37):
Look at week seven.
Speaker 2 (01:37:38):
We got to talk about that mega showdown in between
San Francisco and Case, the mega showdown in the NFC North,
between the Vikings and the Lions. So much to get into,
so little time. This is Fox Sports Radio. Welcome back everybody,
Fox Sports Radio, Eric Toards, Jason Martin. We are broadcasting
(01:38:00):
live from the TIERAQ dot Com studios. You know, it's
been a busy night in sports when we are two
hours and twenty six minutes into the show and we
have yet to talk any NFL And as I said
before the break, I don't think our bosses would mind.
Yankees clinched their first trip to the World series since
two thousand and nine. If you missed it, we had
(01:38:22):
our insider JP Morosi on to talk about that in
an hour two and of course, Georgia upsets number one
Texas in college football. Tell you what, though, do want
to start talking some week seven in the NFL? And boy,
oh boy are there some pretty big games? Mary, give
us a little music?
Speaker 1 (01:38:41):
Ian?
Speaker 3 (01:38:41):
Which game are we talking?
Speaker 2 (01:38:43):
I think I know which game we're talking first, but
I'll you I'll let you tell me which one we're
talking first again.
Speaker 10 (01:38:47):
Yeah, well, let's begin with the Kansas City Chiefs headed
to Santa Clara to take on the San Francisco forty
nine ers. San Francisco is favored by two points, but
that Chiefs defense is pretty strong. What do you guys think?
Speaker 3 (01:39:00):
Go ahead, J Mart, what do you think? My man.
Speaker 4 (01:39:04):
Mahomes is not in the MVP conversation right now? And
the way that I know that for a fact is
because I was considering benching him as my fantasy quarterback
for car Wow me this coming week because he just
hasn't been doing very much. They have like an eleven
game streak of at least one turnover, which is the
longest in the NFL. Offenses not firing on all Cyltin news,
(01:39:24):
yet they continue to win. They're going to San Francisco,
who has maybe the most takeaways in the league defensively,
so on paper, this looks like this should be San
Francisco's game. I will say there's one big problem though,
even though they're getting healthier. Juwan Jenning's not being available
for San Francisco is a big deal because he's a
guy that goes and makes combat catches. He's the guy
that just the fire in him is kind of unreal,
(01:39:47):
and I feel like they feed off it a lot
of times. I still actually believe, Oh man, I'm torn.
It's a two point game, and you just can't go
against against Kansa City.
Speaker 3 (01:40:00):
I think I think.
Speaker 4 (01:40:01):
Kansas City's gonna go beat him on the road. I do.
I think San Francisco should win, but I think Kansas
City will win.
Speaker 2 (01:40:06):
Yeah, you know, listen, Kansas City obviously, you know, barely
surviving in several games so far. The other factor to
j mart Andy Reid is lights out off of a
bye twenty one in four Now. I will note of
the of the four losses, three have been with the
Chiefs he had. I think he was like eleven and
one off of a bye with with Philly, But the
(01:40:28):
guy has been lights out off of a bye you know,
the early buye sometimes. You know, I'm sure coaches probably
don't love it. We wanted a little bit later in
the year. But I think for that team, maybe reset
get back on track. Listen, I'm not gonna say anything
that you didn't already say, but they have not been
playing the best football even though they keep winning.
Speaker 3 (01:40:48):
But I do I'm with you.
Speaker 2 (01:40:49):
Is I think that they find a way San Francisco
sitting in three or three, I think they're starting to
turn a corner. But I'm with you. I do think
Kansas City ends up winning this game. Ian, what's the
next game? We got here?
Speaker 6 (01:41:00):
Uh? Yeah?
Speaker 7 (01:41:00):
So ten am Pacific time on Fox.
Speaker 10 (01:41:02):
The Lions are traveling to Minnesota to take on Sam
Darnold and the Vikings. Minnesota is favored by a point
and a half. What do you guys think?
Speaker 7 (01:41:12):
What do you got you?
Speaker 5 (01:41:13):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (01:41:13):
Man, Minnesota has been really good, but what Detroit did
to Dallas tells you you can take that show on
the road. I like, I like Minnesota's makeup. I think
O'Connell has done a fantastic job we have. We've waxed
poetic and talk to a lot of positives about them
all year. Right now, the Lions are just the Lions
(01:41:33):
just looks so strong. I think the Lions are going
to go on the road and beat Minnesota.
Speaker 6 (01:41:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:41:38):
First of all, you know, listen, privilege to be talking
about the Yankees, privileged to be talking about Texas Georgia. Man,
the takes were ready to fly on the Dallas Cowboys.
I mean, you know that was that was a tough
watch and whatever. But also on the other side of
that is the Detroit Lions, and I'm with you is
I think they're operating on all cylinders.
Speaker 3 (01:41:57):
Listen.
Speaker 2 (01:41:57):
I don't want to undersell what the Minnesota Viking have
done so far this season, but listen, you know, we
know that they didn't finish strong against the New York Jets.
You know they obviously the Packers game was closed, although
they were up early in that one as well. And
you look at their wins, three of the five are
by six points or less, and so I just think
(01:42:18):
with the way the Lions are playing, I know it's
a road game, lot the Lions are.
Speaker 3 (01:42:23):
Listen, I hate the bray because you know, they were
my Super.
Speaker 2 (01:42:25):
Bowl pick, but they're so good in basically every spot.
Now we'll see if the the Aid and Hutchinson, like
I think the Aiden Hutchinson injury will impact them.
Speaker 3 (01:42:35):
Yeah, I don't know if this is the game though,
like you know, it's not.
Speaker 2 (01:42:37):
I don't know, so I'm with you is I do
think that Detroit gets this win on the road. And
I know we've talked about it, Jmark. But the NFC North,
let's get.
Speaker 4 (01:42:48):
To say, norse about as good a division as we've
seen in a very long time in the NFL. I mean,
you got four teams, all of which seemed to be
trending in a positive direction, all of them looking very
good and playing pretty solid football. It's a joy to
watch that, and I know, Sue, it's a meat grinder
for all of them.
Speaker 3 (01:43:06):
It is.
Speaker 2 (01:43:06):
And the cool part is, I don't think we've had
a single division game yet until tomorrow, so we'll start
to until Sunday till week seven. So I think those
games are gonna start coming fast and furious, and we'll
be able to separate the pretenders from the contenders if
there are any pretenders in that division. Tell you what
we can come back, we can preview the rest of
(01:43:30):
week seven. How about for the final time this evening,
let's get it over the news desk to Sager put
a bow on what has been just an insane day.
Speaker 8 (01:43:40):
It's been great and only two late college football games,
one of which just ended. UNLV holds on thirty three
to twenty five at Oregon State, which threw in complete
in the end zone at the end, and we've got about.
Speaker 7 (01:43:51):
Eleven minutes to go.
Speaker 8 (01:43:52):
TCU up thirteen to seven at Utah Number five Georgia
one at number one ranked Texas thirty to fifteen. Each
team six and one. Bulldogs led at the half twenty
three to nothing, had five sacks in the first half
seven for the game, forced three turnovers in the first half.
In fact, Longhorns quarterbacks had four turnovers in the game
and first half. Georgia only allowed thirty eight yards of
(01:44:16):
offense by the end of the night. Texas on third
and fourth down conversions three for nineteen Trebor etn with
three touchdown runs for Georgia Carson Becks through three interceptions.
Georgia is off next week. Number six. Miami won fifty
two to forty five at Louisville cam Ward four touchdown passes,
Tyler Shuck of Louisville four touchdown passes. There were nearly
(01:44:37):
one thousand total yards in this game combined. Next Saturday,
the Canes are going up against Florida State, which, as
I mentioned, is one in six. Tennessee beat Alabama twenty
four to seventeen with ten points in the last six minutes.
Dylan Sampson one hundred and thirty nine yards rushing, Jalen
mill Row of Alabama one touchdown, two interceptions. The team
(01:44:58):
rushing thirty four carries just seven twenty five yards at Tennessee.
Alabama had fifteen penalties Tennessee with eleven. There were five
total turnovers and a lot of excitement. Alabama is two
and two in conference. Tennessee is off next week. By
the way, BAMA has lost to Vanderbilt and Tennessee in
the same season for the first time in forty years.
(01:45:19):
But AP says BAMA hasn't lost on the road to
Tennessee and Vanderbilt same season since nineteen twenty nine.
Speaker 1 (01:45:26):
Wow.
Speaker 8 (01:45:27):
LSU won at Arkansas thirty four to ten. It was
sixteen to ten mid third quarter. LSU's won six straight
since the opening loss to usc Number nine, Iowa State
is still undefeated after edging UCF thirty eight thirty five
on a touchdown with thirty seconds left. A combined seventeen
punts in that game at over six hundred yards rushing.
Iowa State is off next week. UCF has lost four
(01:45:48):
in a row. It'll be hosting BYU next week. Number
ten Clemson was tied ten ten late in the first half,
but up thirty eight ten on Virginia by the end

Clemson Tigers are off next week. Number twelve Notre Dame
one in Atlanta against Georgia Tech thirty one to thirteen.
The Irish were down seven to nothing in the second
(01:46:08):
quarter and then quarterback Riley Leonard had two TD runs
before halftime. Next week, Notre Dame six and one plays
Navy six and oh in New Jersey. Number fourteen Texas
A and M one at Mississippi State, which is one
and six thirty four to twenty four to the final.
A and M is four to zero conference. It'll host
LSU next week. Number sixteen Indiana fifty six to seven
(01:46:29):
over Nebraska. As quarterback Dylan Reil of the losing side
had three interceptions in a fumble. Next Saturday, Nebraska at
Ohio State on Fox TV New in Eastern The Hoosiers
quarterback Curtis Rourke left at halftime with a thumb injury.
He was hurt on the hail Mary pass at the
end of the first half. Seventeenth rank Kansas State forty
five eighteen winners at West Virginia. It was just seventeen
(01:46:51):
ten at the half. Avery Johnson three touchdown passes. Next week,
k State host Kansas, which had lost five in a
row till today. Number nineteen Missouri on a time touchdown
in the final minute, beat Auburn twenty one seventeen. Miszoo
had trailed seventeen to three in the third quarter. SMU,
ranked twenty first, won forty to ten at Stanford. Stanford
has not only lost sixteen straight against ranked teams, Stanford
(01:47:15):
has lost eleven straight home games just against FBS ponents
in general, whether they are ranked or not. SMU is
three and zero in the ACC and does not play
Miami or Clemson on its schedule. Illinois beat Michigan twenty
one seven. Illinois defense five sacks. Illinois wearing very interesting.
Speaker 3 (01:47:37):
I was like, were they playing pitt They had.
Speaker 8 (01:47:39):
The red Grange style jerseys, but the helmets were painted
to make them look like leather helmets.
Speaker 2 (01:47:46):
And Michigan celebrated by not completing a forward past the
entire game.
Speaker 3 (01:47:50):
That was too easy to sell.
Speaker 4 (01:47:52):
That was good. That made up for how terrible that.
Speaker 3 (01:47:56):
I know that good.
Speaker 8 (01:47:58):
Michigan is four and three. This could be a BIROSSI
joke Michigan Michigan's four and three. Next Saturday, Illinois at Oregon,
and Army and Navy each one again. Army forty five
twenty eight over East Carolina. Army's quarterback Bryson Daily five
TD runs and a touchdown pass Army seven to zero
off next week, and then it'll host one in six
Air Force Navy fifty one seventeen over Charlotte. Army and
(01:48:21):
Navy are in the rankings together this week for the
first time since nineteen sixty. Maryland scored fifteen points in
the last ten minutes and beat USC twenty nine twenty eight.
Colorado a thirty four to seven win at Arizona, even
though Travis Hunter only had two catches one tackle. South

a five to win at Cleveland, taking the Alcs four
(01:49:03):
games to one.
Speaker 2 (01:49:04):
Back to you to Sega, You're awesome man, Thank you
so much. Have a great evening.
Speaker 3 (01:49:08):
We'll be back. We'll see you tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (01:49:11):
By the way, I just saw that Monday night football
game ESPN plus.
Speaker 3 (01:49:15):
What are we doing? NFL? What are we doing?
Speaker 2 (01:49:20):
Hi?
Speaker 8 (01:49:20):
Chargers at Arizona is only on streaming. Marvin Harrison Junior,
by the way, is back from the concussion.
Speaker 7 (01:49:26):
For that one.
Speaker 2 (01:49:27):
Yes, for people don't know, DISAGA works with the Chargers.
I believe the games in Arizona, so it doesn't impact
to SAGA schedule. But hey, we got a preview this weekend.
But how like, can we just put games on normal TV,
like like, are you guys not making enough money? I
guess I understand for the business perspective from you know,
our competitor, but it's like, goodness, gracious man, it's just
(01:49:50):
you know.
Speaker 7 (01:49:50):
Got to train make up the money from those NHL ratings.
Speaker 2 (01:49:54):
All right, to saga, well you have a great evening.
We'll listen to you tomorrow with uh with Willard in
the game in of course, on top of that Arnie
Spaniard and Chris Plank. If Arnie Spaniers shows up after
the way Coach Prime smacked that behind of the Arizona
Wildcats today and.
Speaker 8 (01:50:10):
It was such a good day for Oklahoma, I'm sure
both here j Mart, you and I might have to
be They might call us in a pinch hit the
way those two teams got their brains beat in today.
Speaker 2 (01:50:18):
But that is another conversation for another day, but maybe
maybe for tomorrow, depending on how things go. But I'll
tell you what, Mary, very quickly give us music, put
us in the mood ian We could kind of rip
through these pretty quick. What's the next game on the
Week seven NFL schedule?
Speaker 10 (01:50:34):
All right, next one is the Houston Texans against the
Green Bay Packers. Green Bay is favored by two and
a half points. What do you guys think, J Martin,
You've been on CJ. Stroud before anybody, so I'll give
you the floor on this one.
Speaker 4 (01:50:45):
I don't think that the Texans have played great this year,
but I mean, first off, awful division, but I still
think they're really good. I think they need to run
the ball a little bit more effectively than they have been.
Games in green Bay. Yes, tough place to go win.
I actually think the Packers will probably win, even though
I like the Texans a lot. That should be a
really good game between two you know, young quarterbacks. We're
(01:51:07):
gonna be watching for a very long time barring something
catastrophic happening to one of them. So I think green
Bay will get them. I think leth Laure will have
something for them at home and win that one.
Speaker 2 (01:51:17):
For the sake of simplicity, I will I will take
Green Bay as well. Interesting scheduling note, Houston will have
three games in the next eleven days, and then you know,
because of they will play on a Thursday night against
the looks like against the Jets, which is kind of
interesting in its own right.
Speaker 7 (01:51:35):
Is that right?
Speaker 3 (01:51:36):
Anyway?
Speaker 2 (01:51:37):
Long story short. They play three games in eleven days,
but I do think Green Bay gets to win here,
go ahead, keep going, all right.
Speaker 10 (01:51:45):
The first of the two Monday night games is the
one you actually will be able to watch without streaming.
The Ravens are traveling to Raymond James Stadium in Tampa
Bay to face the Buccaneers. The Ravens are favored by
three and a half points. What do you guys think?
Speaker 4 (01:51:58):
Tough? That's a tough ass for Tampa, especially if Mike
Evans can't play limited practice hamstring issues kind of got
dinged up in their last game. I like the way
they've played all year. I like the makeup of their team.
I think Godwin and Mayfield have a really nice connection together.
Defense is really good. Ravens are steamrolling teams right now.
(01:52:18):
I don't think that defense is ready for the Derek
Henry Lamar Jackson experience. Give me Baltimore.
Speaker 3 (01:52:24):
Yeah, I'll go with Baltimore as well.
Speaker 2 (01:52:27):
I just think that it's the uh you know, listen,
take out Weird lost the Raiders, which they led for
most of the game. Chiefs, you know, final play could
have gone the other way. They're playing incredible football right now.
I will take the Ravens. By the way, I was right.
The Texans do play the Jets on a Thursday night.
It's like Jets just played on Thursday a few weeks ago.
I thought there was only one game a year unless
(01:52:48):
you were playing Thanksgiving on Thursday. Guess I was wrong.
Neither here nor there is there any other Give us
one more, real, quick, one more. We got the Sunday
night game. The New York Jets are facing the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Jets are two points, but it's in Pittsburgh. You got
thirty seconds to give us your Devanta Adams.
Speaker 3 (01:53:05):
Take j Martin. I know you've been waiting all week
to get this one off your chest.
Speaker 4 (01:53:08):
Man. Do I even need thirty seconds?
Speaker 7 (01:53:13):
This is just annoying.
Speaker 4 (01:53:14):
Now got Allen has already got DeVante. Let's just run
it back, but with a different coach. We're still wearing green.
Let's just make it all happen again. I will say this,
it's now Aaron Rodgers team. Let's not worry about the
coaching staff's not worry about anything else. Aaron Rodgers has
absolutely everything he wants. I don't care how much he
had to do or how little he had to do
with Robert Solo losing his job. This is all on Rogers.
(01:53:35):
That means it rises or falls on how he plays.
I don't care about anything else. He's gonna take all
of the either praise and or blame for this period.
Speaker 3 (01:53:45):
I don't disagree.
Speaker 2 (01:53:48):
I'll say I don't even feel good that they're getting
the win in this game. I mean, listen, I know
the quarterback situation in Pittsburgh is certainly less than idea.
Speaker 4 (01:53:57):
I don't know, well, I don't know why Tom Win
is insisting on playing Row Wilson.
Speaker 2 (01:54:01):
Yeah, but I was just gonna say. It is a
Sunday night game, they are at home. I probably still
do like the Steelers.
Speaker 4 (01:54:09):
I'm taking the Jets.
Speaker 2 (01:54:10):
Okay, well those are your Jets. So you know, listen,
I mean you've been you've been kidding. People don't know
Jamart has not been a supporter of the Jets. But
all right, I'll tell you what. We gotta come back.
We've got to wrap the show when we come back.
So much to get too still. This is Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (01:54:27):
Welcome back, everybody.
Speaker 2 (01:54:29):

just search Fox Sports Ready wherever you get your podcast,
and you'll see the show posted right after we get
off air. All Right, I know I've said it thirty
times throughout the show. One first of all, I should mention,
by the way, Bernie Fratto on right around ten minutes
from now, and Bernie is just going to keep the
party going. Because best part about Fox Sports already we're
(01:55:10):
on live twenty four hours a day and we say
it all the time. But some days steal I feel it.
Some days feel like stealing money. This day is in
the short conversation of Number one, the Georgia Texas game
goes down to the wire or it doesn't go down
the wire. Excuse me, but there's a controversial call. But
the number one team of the country loses. You had
(01:55:32):
the Yankees clinching the World series for the first time.
Put a bow on a couple things from tonight. Jmart
First of all, I saw this from Lucas Tomlinson and
Fox at Fox News to Sega reference this earlier. But
Army and Navy not only ranked for the first time,
but according to Lucas Tomlinson, this is the first time
(01:55:53):
they've been undefeated this late in a season since nineteen
twenty six.
Speaker 3 (01:55:59):
Jason Martin, what do you think of that?
Speaker 4 (01:56:02):
I mean, we talked about it a little bit through
texts earlier in the day. There's not really like a
giant opinion to have here. There's not some like deep
take or big analysis that you can go through here.
But I think that it is fair to say this
is cool, Like it's fun, it's something to kind of
(01:56:22):
pay attention to, and hey, how long can they keep
this going? How cool is Army Navy gonna be this year?
You know, all of those kinds of things. I think
that is the take. I think it's just this is
awesome and we can just sort of sit back and
enjoy it. It's not gonna have national championship at occasions
or anything like that, but it's it's just a positive.
There's just nothing. There's nothing negative about this story at all.
Speaker 2 (01:56:46):
Well, and I will tell you, first of all, it's
gonna be cool. Next week Navy does have the national
stage because, as the SEGA referenced earlier, Navy does play
Notre Dame next week. That is a game that will
be on at noon Eastern next Saturday. But also it's
worth noting you know, in this twelve team playoff era,
there are three undefeated teams currently in the American and
(01:57:08):
two of them are Army and Navy, and so you
would think if both those teams keep winning. Now, obviously
Navy still has Notre Dame, so that's probably not going
to happen, but I think there's a possibility they could
be playing for a playoff Berth. I mean, you know, listen,
it would take some other stuff in other spots. Because
Boise he's playing well right now. By the way, Big
one next week in the Mountain West. Boise and UNL
(01:57:30):
each game.
Speaker 4 (01:57:30):
That is a huge. Yet it's a Friday night. Everybody
should watch that game.
Speaker 2 (01:57:33):
Yes, top twenty five matchup or excuse me, I don't
know if UNLV is still in the top twenty five.
But what I will say is that again, with the
top group of five team guaranteed in auto bid, that
one could have playoff implications, and of course Army Navy
down the road could have playoff implications. By the way,
Friday shape shape it up to be a pretty good
(01:57:56):
sports night, Jmark, game one of the College World Series
UNLV Boise on Friday night, by the way, a game
that won't be as nearly as anticipated. USC actually plays
on Friday night as well against Rutgers because we aren't working.
I was thinking about attending that one, but probably we'll
skip that one really quickly.
Speaker 3 (01:58:16):
Jmart.
Speaker 2 (01:58:16):
Do you want to also reference this the controversy at
Georgia or with Georgia and Texas. The SEC has released
a statement this from Ross Dellinger. I'll skip the part
where they discuss the play, but they said, quote the
game official. The game officials gathered to discuss the play,
which is permitted to ensure the proper penalty is enforced,
at which time the calling official reported that he ared
(01:58:38):
and a foul should not have been called for the
defensive pass interference. Consequently, Texas was awarded the ball at
the Texas nine yard line, while the original evaluation assessment
of the penalty was not properly executed. It is unacceptable
to have debris thrown on the field at any time.
The disruption of the game due to debris being thrown
onto the field will be reviewed by the Conference Office
related to sportsmanlike penalties.
Speaker 3 (01:58:59):
Da da da da da. So I'll be quick because
we got a run.
Speaker 2 (01:59:02):
But j Mart, it looks like Texas is definitely getting
a fine, and it looks like the SEC is siding
with the officials and saying they're allowed to consult and
you know, change calls if they deem it necessary.
Speaker 4 (01:59:14):
So how do you know he aired or how does
that official know he aired? That would be my question.
Speaker 3 (01:59:20):
There's a big breaking action.
Speaker 4 (01:59:22):
That's why, a big breaking action and a replay on
the scoreboard seventeen times that I mean, I that is,
that's a nice cya, that's a nice cover you move.
By the converse of officials, it's not like an unsurprising
thing that that's what they did. You'll never get me
to believe that the official just said he aired out
of nowhere without having seen a replay where it was
(01:59:43):
clear that oh, probably shouldn't have done that.
Speaker 3 (01:59:45):
Well, we will see if anything comes of this. Sunday
but we gotta go.
Speaker 2 (01:59:48):
