Speaker 1 (00:01):
You want experience during your football season, well, buckle up,
sweet cheeks. We've got all the experience in the world.
This is I want your flex with Dan Bayer and
Mike Harmon. Mike and Dan break down everything you need
to set your lineups, from position rankings.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
To starts and sins.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
The guys help you make those hard decisions.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
And now let's catch your flex on. Here's Dan Bayer
and Mike Harmon.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
It's very likely the midway point of your fantasy season.
We thank you for sticking with us. Get Mike up
at Swallow Dolby to find me at dan Byer on Fox.
Ian Roddy is the show's executive producer. He'll be around
later with some streaming defenses, some advice on streaming defenses,
and so much more. Vikings and Rams might kick off
a week eighth where there are no buys, some entertaining football,

(00:57):
and a face mask scene round the world except by
the guys wearing whites in black stripes on the football field.
But hey, Vikings Rams provided some entertainment to start off the.

Speaker 4 (01:07):
Week well, and the perpetuation of a fraud against America,
and we could have seen Sam Darnold.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
What can you do instead down he goes all right.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
Matthew Stafford four touchdowns gets his wide receivers back.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
We knew we were gonna get. Cooper Cup.

Speaker 4 (01:24):
Guys, Poka Nakua really kind of a shadowy figure until
early this afternoons like, oh yeah, he's ready and he's
gonna play, and he's gonna catch seven balls for one
hundred and six yards.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Yay.

Speaker 4 (01:36):
Cooper Cup five point fifty one in one did put
the game in peril in it only for a moment
because he didn't get out of bounds on the reception late,
so that was kind of chaotic. DeMarcus Robinson, a guy
that we liked the potential long term, only had two catches.
Guess what, both touchdowns good for him, and Kyron Williams
finds the end zone once again. Perhaps only fantasy players

(02:00):
appreciate him because the passing game gets all the love
and Sean McVeagh in the national sphere, but the Rams
offense man, they worked Flores's defense tonight and looking at
the numbers even coming into the game, you know you
can move the ball on them. The fantasy points to
wide receivers had been pretty robust to date, so I

(02:20):
expected it to have a bit of success, not quite
obviously to this level. As I left twenty five points
on the bench in one of my leagues, Justin Jefferson
gets his eight for one point fifteen. All that work
seemed to be done really early.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
Well, I'll just I'll just say this, And he was
not happy at the end. And I don't think he
was unhappy. I think he was unhappy about the face
mask call, but only because that he wouldn't be getting
the ball anymore, because the game was practically over the
point where I was surprised, I did you leave Stafford
on the bench? Is that what he did me that
I did?

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (02:55):
I didn't pick him up. And I need a quarterback
because I rode Justin Field's early transition to some Justin
Herbert kind of playing the middling game and Stafford was available.
Should have picked him up. Didn't do it. And now
I'm kicking myself because I know next week will be
a hot commodity because he's still available.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Now on the bench for me in our FSR Guillotine league.
So there you go. Well it happens, fight Caleb Williams.
There you go.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Vikings defense didn't touch Matthew Stafford on Thursday nights, and
now it's back to back losses for Minnesota. We hope
you don't have back to back losses. You mentioned DeMarcus Robinson.
I'm already oh for one. On Fantasy advice, someone asked
me DeMarcus Robinson or Courtland Sutton, saying Courtland Sutton can't
be skunked again, can he? And I'm like, absolutely not,
especially when you're playing Carolina. Roll with Sutton and then

(03:44):
it's touchdown.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
Robinson, but three targets, I know to think, hey, he's
gonna have red zones in both both catches.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
My goodness man, Yeah, that was that was tough to take.
But hey, maybe Courtland Sutton will bounce back and and
have that monster game. We all think that he deserves.

Speaker 4 (04:03):
Well big ten point favorites over Carolina. Forty two is
the total in that one.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
I don't think it's going to be a shootout. That
will not put it this way, spoiler alert, that will
not be my points upon ah for four week eight.
Let's get into Mike Carmon's rankings four week eight top
five plays at the wide receiver running back, and we
started out at the quarterback position.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
Mike all right, usual suspect, right off to jump.

Speaker 4 (04:26):
Lamar Jackson twenty three plus five of his seven games
this year. You see Rashod Bateman popping up. Maybe his
name finds its way into the list a little bit later,
but you're looking at a Cleveland defense for all of
their problems only give him about fifteen fantasy points a
game to quarterbacks. That changes this week. We'll see a
bigger effort from Lamar. Jordan Love going to Vans Jacksonville

(04:49):
take the chalk. They're giving up twenty three and a
half a game to quarterbacks.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
He's getting.

Speaker 4 (04:53):
He's in the even odd sequencing. It's kind of like
Brett Saberhagen. Look it up when he was with the Royals.
So Young Nah, Cy Young award Nah.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
And then you move there.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
Thirty one, seventeen, twenty six, eighteen, those are your results
from Love. But if seventeen's the floor, I'm feeling pretty good.
The aforementioned Kleb Williams going up against Washington the last
couple of games out twenty three and twenty nine points
scored by him. Washington defense can be had in that secondary.
Joe Burrow number four this week for me, as we

(05:25):
look at one of the games with one of the
higher totals of the week. They are home favorites against Philadelphia.
And then finally, in a little bit of an upset.
I know I've used him in the cold scores a
couple of times and it's worked out well. CJ strive.
Let's get him back into the good graces in a
showdown with the Indianapolis Colts. He's coming off that five

(05:46):
point three point Week seven, looking for another twenty point
week from him.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
You go back to in history Colts Texans games, They've
played some really funky ones, especially in Houston. I remember
one week a decade ago, we were actually in Houston
for the game. I was down like forty five points,
but I had Andre Johnson and t Y Hilton and
they scored a combined five touchdowns that night. It was

(06:14):
amazing to watch. And it wasn't the first time that
they've had those crazy games. So we'll see if one
continues here in week eight. Those are my top five quarterbacks.
How about the top five running backs four Week eight?

Speaker 4 (06:27):
Let's get it on double up in the Baltimore world.
How about some Derek Henry. I had no idea what
we're getting from this Cleveland squad at this point, at least,
Defanski doesn't have to do those dopey pressers extolling the
virtues of Deshaun Watson as they're started at this point,
but rallying this squad, I don't think we're gonna see it.
So give me Henry twenty four plus four of his

(06:51):
last five games. Cleveland's defense again, not terrible, they hold
you in games, but this Baltimore offense a little bit
of a do for the animal that they get here
in Week eight, Joe Mixon going up against Indianapolis in
his full games this year, guys twenty three to twenty five,
twenty four points, and the Colts give up twenty three

(07:12):
fantasy points a game to opposing runners. So right now,
he's just been absolute money as a runner and receiver.
How about our guy Bijon Robinson. Yeah, I know, folks
still shake their fists a lot about usage at time,
still a top ten fantasy back in PPR leagues. Thus far,
back to back twenty point games from him, and the

(07:33):
thing I'm looking for here, Tampa Bay has given and
allowed forty three receptions by running backs already this year.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
Woh out so opportunity knocks.

Speaker 4 (07:43):
Yeah, for Bijon in this one talking about being active
in the passing game. How about Breise Hall going up
against New England games of sixteen point nine, twenty point
one and this is the third most generous defense to
running backs giving up twenty eight fantasy points per game
and then a bit of a shocker and a little
bit of an upset, and no not because they traded

(08:06):
for a wide receiver. How about Kareem Hunt going up
against the Loss.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
Vegas all right, traiders, Hunt.

Speaker 4 (08:13):
With an eighteen point performance, a twenty point performance, and
you're looking at a Las Vegas squad bottom ten in
terms of points allowed. Also, thirty six receptions allowed to
running backs out of the backfield. That's the stat I'm
hanging my hat on for that one. For Kareem Hunt.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
Kareem Hunt's viability has proved to be good for me
as well. I got into a Carson Steel Kareem Hunt
debate about a month or so ago. I was on
the Hunt side of things, and I think I've come
out ahead. So I am very happy with that.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
One because it's really you really don't lose in the
name game either.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
I mean, whatever, you know, I mean past transgressions are
what they are, but I mean Kareem Hunt, Carson Steel,
I mean, those are some good names.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
Yeah, it does work. It works very well. And of
course my guy Clyde Edwards E Laire doesn't have the
same forcefulness Mike, but it's just a little more pizazz
with the e Laire at the end.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
Gotta have a little bit of sizzle.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
Yes, absolutely gets back. All right, those are the top
five running backs. Let's get to the top five wide
receivers for week eights.

Speaker 4 (09:20):
AJ Brown another guy like we're going through the stats
for Joe Mixon. You're looking at a guy coming up
with big performances in the games he's been available twenty three,
twenty three, and twenty looking for this one again. That's
forty eight looking nice and tasty out there, and that
AJ Brown's gonna be a guy to help us get there.
Ceedee Lamb going up against San Francisco coming out of

(09:41):
the bye week. If Dallas doesn't show up with some
kind of heart and you know, complexity to their passing game,
you know, after Jerry Jones calls out Mike McCarthy's play
calling on the local radio stations this week, didn't go
after the journalists decide to go internal and bring that
out out of the locker room. Well, we'll see how

(10:01):
well that works.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
For that's how to make things worse one on one.
That's what it is.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
There, you go, Jerry Jones, he's writing a whole.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
New Professor Jones.

Speaker 2 (10:12):
Here, you cheat, doctor Jones. You cheat.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
It's not you, guys, it's our head coach. That's the problems.
It's not you, Shannon R. J.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
It's all about the designing of the plays.

Speaker 3 (10:24):
Jeez, unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
All right, let's get some Jamar Chase action in as well.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
On the other side of that Cincinnati Philly game, looking
for he's had a couple of huge games, usually settling
seventeen eighteen points and PPR leagues. I think you can
settle in for that and feel good. How about an
oldie but a goodie. We haven't said the name Tyreek
Hill in a long time except in the first third
of the season airing of the Grievances. You can go

(10:53):
find that iteration of the podcast and maybe you agree
and want to shake your fist and anger with the
rest of us.

Speaker 2 (10:59):
But with two tongue, I.

Speaker 4 (11:00):
Loa getting ready to come back to play fellas against
this Arizona Cardinals defense, opportunity knocks, and then Jayden Reid
against Jacksonville. Look, if we're gonna have Jordan Love up there,
he's gonna throw to his favorite target. Right now, he
is seventh in terms of fantasy points, a couple of
monster games, a thirty three and a twenty seven on
the board, and against the Jacksonville secondary, they don't have

(11:23):
much of a pass rush. So even though you've seen
Jordan Love at times under duress make some how should
we say, questionable decisions, not as much made about his
turnovers as Patrick Mahomes, but he hasn't gotten to that
rarefied air just yet. But Jane Reid rounds us out
for our top five.

Speaker 3 (11:41):
There is a theme that you're seeing that could also
continue later on in this program. He is Mike Carmon,
I'm Dan Beyer. Those are your top five plays at
the quarterback, running back, at wide receiver positions. We've got
our hot plays, cold soares, and Ninjas, plus even a
little trade talk to go along with everything that's next here.
And I want your flex hop plays, Cold Soars and

(12:05):
Ninja is coming up here on I want your flex.
He is Mike carbon I'm Dan Beyer. Ian Roddy is
here as well. I do want to touch on the
deal that went down in the NFL and the almost
deal that didn't go down. DeAndre Hopkins now a member
of the Chiefs MIC a trade that we saw in
between us recording our podcasts. So he now goes to

(12:27):
Kansas City, should play against the Raiders. I don't know
if Hopkins' name is going to come up, but Cooper
Cup already played on Thursday Night. There was some talk
that the Chiefs wanted to acquire him, couldn't do so,
so they they set their sights on Hopkins. Now it
seems like Cup is going to stay with the Rams.
A trade deadline comes on election Day a week and
a half away, but already getting some action that could

(12:49):
have fantasy implications.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
Love all the sizzle.

Speaker 4 (12:52):
The Hopkins spot is interesting to me, right because now
you have a steady go to guy. Obviously the loss
of Rashi Rice felt big by that offense. You do
have Travis Kelcey and you're trying to monitor his targets
and get him to January because you're not playing for
anything but right, so you can bring in a guy
like Hopkins, he gets more catchable footballs, and Patrick Mahomes

(13:16):
gets a guy where it doesn't have to be precise
right where he'll go and get the football, as opposed
to a lot of the receivers he's working with.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
Now, they're working their.

Speaker 4 (13:26):
Way in timing and everything else, but they're not the
steady go to move those chains. The margin of error
is not there, which means you get these interceptions, you
get the tip balls, all of those things. That's not
what you're gonna get with DeAndre Hopkins. So while I'm
not expecting superhero numbers from him, six to eight receptions
a week on ten targets seems like a pretty reasonable thing. Now,

(13:50):
the yardage will fluctuate, maybe you get a jail break
opportunity now and again, but I think you would settle
into that seventy five to eighty five yard range, which
for fantasy owners, that that means you're getting thirteen to
fifteen points out of what should be your WR three
with the occasional touchdown run and red zone opportunity. Yeah,

(14:11):
it's a win. And certainly if you bought low on
Patrick Mahomes, better days I think are ahead.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
It's a very very Chiefs thing to do. So that's
why I guarantee he scores on Sunday. It's such a
scheme it out there and yes, absolutely, so that's that's
my bold prediction.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
I dig that the other thing with Cup right, it
became the test case of if they lost this game
to the Vikings to start Week eight, then maybe you
legitimately do look at tearing things down because you do
have you know, as we talked about in the open,
Robinson and at Well and some of these other component
parts that you like, Puka Nakua coming back again a

(14:50):
bit of a surprise that he was ready for Week eight.
I don't think that was as publicized because we were
waiting on Cup and he was the headliner of this.
Maybe the spice siness of a potential trade was what
helped him mute the Nakua return. But you look at
what that offense was against Flores's defense on a Thursday night,
You start looking at the schedule. You look over at

(15:13):
San Francisco with what they've got popping and all the
injuries and illnesses, Rock Purdy and Shanahan having to do
whatever the five to seven minute talking to or talking
at or whatever the hell you want to call it.
That was reported coming off of the Week seven loss.
You've got the Cardinals and your Seahawks to where you're

(15:34):
looking at the division going why can't we potentially make
a run?

Speaker 2 (15:39):
So no longer are we selling?

Speaker 4 (15:40):
I do like the fifteen yard dropback that Stafford does,
by the way, that is just awesome to me. Keeps
back pedaling until things come into focus.

Speaker 3 (15:49):
I did. We may be taking some time from the
hot place cultures and ninjas, but I'll just say one thing.
To say that a week eight Thursday Night game is
the difference between you buying or selling with the Rams,
I think is a miscalculation because even if they lose
that game, like you still have two games with the Seahawks,
you're not completely out of it. And so to just

(16:09):
to just say, hey, we're now back in it, I
think we're gonna make a run and hold on to
our guys. To me, it's just a little weird in
the case of you're either in or you're out.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
Well, and yeah, I guess it's just you got a
week and a half. As you said, yeah, I just made.

Speaker 3 (16:28):
It doesn't change the point that even if they win
the NFC wes. It doesn't change the point that this
team may need a reset sure at some point, And
that's my whole point of it, is like, even if
you if you are in, if you need to reset,
then maybe it just reset. Maybe now these guys actually
have value somewhere and you can do it. So go
and do it, do it right now, and then start

(16:49):
over anew. But I don't think that these results should
change anything. Even if they would have lost this game
or lost they would have lost to the Raiders and
the Vices, then you're only one win through eight weeks
that stuff. But I'm just surprised that they kind of
had this almost turnaround sort of thing. It was either
that or the Chiefs were or they only wanted to

(17:11):
trade them to the Chiefs, you know, or something like that.
But it just seems weird that they would take this
result and say, Okay, we're going to keep them down. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (17:18):
Man, you get emboldened. And maybe you saw something because
you got Stafford right, I mean, who's taken on that
because he was rumored right as Minnesota like the team
you're playing this.

Speaker 3 (17:29):
I don't think there was anything to that that didn't
make any sense.

Speaker 4 (17:32):
What's no, no, exactly, and that's just it right. It's
like what's real, what's imagined. For the next week and
a half, there's gonna be a lot of nonsense floated through.
Although we have seen more big name brand players, maybe
not the a list that they used to be. I mean,
I love the fact that demonte Adams quit on a
team and then became their emotional leader in a clubhouse

(17:55):
speech days later. I mean, all of those things are
just interesting. Sorry, and I had to, you know, side
swipe the squad there.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
Well, we've had Cooper, Adams, Hopkins now traded, Cup is
gonna stay. We'll see if there's anymore. All right, let's
get to the hot plays, Mike. Some hot plays for
Week eight. Guys that didn't make the top five of
your rankings, but you should get in the lineup this week.

Speaker 4 (18:18):
Just outside the top five, we've got Jalen Hurts going
up against Cincinnati giving up over eighteen points per game.
That Cincinnati defense toothless thus far. See Bengals no teeth,
Kyler Murray going up against Miami a little counterintuitive because
they've actually been really good against opposing quarterbacks. But I
think with their offense opening up perhaps the game does

(18:39):
as a whole, this one Miami a four point favorite
total sitting at about forty six forty six and a
half as we record late on Thursday night. Looking for
Kyler Murray to make plays. If nothing else, we know
we're gonna get a little bit of that sonic running
effort out of him, So maybe we get fifty yards
and a score out of him as well. How about
a rarefied spot as well well for bow Knicks as

(19:02):
a hot play in a play against Caroline again using
his legs is where I'm looking at it. But also
for the fact that Carolina goes back to Bryce Young
against this defense, that's not gonna be good for anybody.
Good thoughts to Andy Dalton, you know, for those that
unaware he and his family in a car accident, sustained
enough of an injury that'll keep him out this week.

(19:24):
So you get back to Bryce Young against what Denver
and Vance Joseph have been doing. There not a good
spot for them, which means I think for bow Nicks
and company you get some short fields, which is why
Javonte Williams joins him on this list as well. His
two touchdowns in Week seven looked for him to carry
that forward as well. I've got San Francisco, Dallas, Michael Parsons,

(19:45):
as we record, not expected to go so Brock Purty
clean pocket for you, buddy, opportunity to get after it downfield.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
Deebo said he's gonna be okay.

Speaker 4 (19:55):
Jennings still did not practice Thursday with the hip, but
they were hopeful that he was trending in the right
direction as George Kittle. So remains to be seen, but
for the moment, we put perty in the All right,
I'll put that in my dollar DraftKings play along the way.

Speaker 2 (20:12):
JK.

Speaker 4 (20:12):
Dobbins going up against New Orleans fourth most generous to
running backs eight chan again owing to.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
The tour return.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
He had his first double digit fantasy point total in
Week seven since Week two.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
Wow, how about that, geez.

Speaker 4 (20:29):
DeAndre Swift three straight twenty point games before the bye
week comes out. He's got Washington this week. Let's dial
it up again. George Pickens resurrected by the moon ball.
At least that's what they kept telling me on Sunday
Night Football. The moonball was everything, all right, go up
and get it. He was motivated because I think people
started to mock him, and he also let the cat

(20:52):
out of the bag that Russ was going to start.
So I think off that best of the year performance
going up against the Giants, we get better than well
a lot of the accumulation of his other efforts. You know,
he had four games where he scored ten or fewer
points in PPR leagues.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
Is that good?

Speaker 3 (21:09):
I'm aware? Yeah, yes.

Speaker 4 (21:11):
And then you know a guy that we've trumpeted quite
a bit, and it's good to see the national audience
getting on board. Is Brian Thomas of your fun and
exciting Jaguars twenty one plus three of his last four
going up against the Green Bay Packers. Yeah, I'm hyper
focused on the Jaguars for some reason this week.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
That's all right. He's he's clearly their main guy. I
really like Christian Kirk coming into the season, but we've
talked about it a few podcasts ago. It seems that
Thomas is the guy if Trevor Lawrence can be on target.
I don't know if Trevor Lawrence will be a cold sar.
He might be, he might be a Ninja. You're gonna
have to wait and find out, because the Ninjas are

(21:54):
coming up after the cold source Mike or your cold
source for week eight.

Speaker 4 (21:57):
Well, we'll start with Dak again San Francisco, and this
one's the you know, just kind of hang a star
on it, cause not quite sure what we're This is
one of the more interesting, intriguing games for a million reasons.
Not quite sure what we're getting from either squad. Talked
about the Jerry Jones comments, talked about the Shanahan with
Brock Pardy. We do know with Dak you will get

(22:17):
a pass rush in his face, so what he does with.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
It remains to be seen.

Speaker 4 (22:22):
So he's on the outs. I've got him at fourteen
rank for the week. Trevor Lawrence is here again. Hang
a star on him against Green Bay because I do
think he'll have some success. Just a question of whether
it translates into a big enough fantasy day. Green Bay
giving up twelve point eight fantasy points per game to
quarterback your guy Gino going up against Buffalo there just

(22:46):
a little bit worse than green Bay giving up fourteen
points per game. DK Metcalf banged up, waiting to see
on his availability as we get towards the weekend, So
we got that hanging over there our heads. Alvin Kamerica.
Congratulations on your contract. Now he's got the Chargers defense,
so that's that's that's not good for anybody third best

(23:10):
against running back. Yeah, you know, congratulations, but but.

Speaker 3 (23:17):
First yeah Chargers this week the good news. Here's your
contract extension.

Speaker 4 (23:21):
Yeah, and he and he has been playing with a
broken hand, so we got that going for you as well.
Chewba Hubbard one of our favorites going up against that
Denver defense. Uh, he's got eleven plus Fantasy points six
of seven, so still gonna find his way into the
back end of your RB twos. But you're gonna do
a lot of wishing and hoping that he finds a
red zone opportunity. Garrett Wilson, does he get Gonzales? Who

(23:44):
gets Gonzalez? Does Adams get Gonzalez?

Speaker 2 (23:46):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (23:47):
But for Garrett Wilson, we've seen some smallest efforts along
the way. Obviously that odd play against Pittsburgh a week ago.
But with Adams in the fold and New England's defense,
you know, after getting called soft, I gotta imagine those
guys respond you might need a little bit of a
motivator now and again, well.

Speaker 3 (24:05):
I'm curious because if the Jets don't win this one.
I don't know when they are gonna win. It's hard.

Speaker 2 (24:10):
It's over. If they the Patriots, it's over.

Speaker 5 (24:12):
Make no mistake about like the season is done if
they lose to the Patriots.

Speaker 4 (24:16):
Seven point road favorites are the Jets. Forty one is
your total. And then Terry McLaurin going up against the
Bears defense coming out of the bye week.

Speaker 2 (24:26):
Jaden Daniels banged.

Speaker 4 (24:28):
Up, might be the Mariota show, but Bears defense has
been very stingy thus far. Curious the step up in class.
Obviously a lot made on the opponents that they've beaten
thus far. That's all you can do is play who's
on the schedule.

Speaker 3 (24:40):
What a shame that we don't get one versus two
in that matchup. It's really too bad. That'd be a
marquee watch coming up on what should be a really
good Sunday. All right, those are your cold soars, Mike.
Let's get to the Ninjas and wrap this segment up.

Speaker 2 (24:54):
Let's go.

Speaker 4 (24:54):
We've got Tua since he's back, let's get him against Arizona.
Fifth most general to quarterbacks. I have no idea what
to expect, but if they're going to clear him. I
think they're gonna come out swinging. So all of a sudden,
you're looking at Tyreek Hill made the top five. Jalen Waddle,
I've got ranked I think fifteenth for this week. Well,
let's get Russell Wilson in against the Giants. Look, I

(25:17):
don't think russ cooked as well as everybody else wants to.
But they put up thirty seven points, so yay, they're
dancing around like Kermit the Frog, but eighth most generous
and really a sinking ship. All the votes of confidence
or whatever else. That's not good for anybody. Najee Harris
as well. We haven't said his name much, but he's
now running with authority as well. Chase Brown getting him

(25:39):
his love, going up against Philly looking for an opportunity
to make place twenty three sixteen fourteen his last three games,
so opportunity for him. Rashad White against Atlanta. Someone's got
to catch the ball and he does it out of
the backfield. So you've got him, and you've got in
the receiver cors trying to see whether Sterling Shepherd becomes

(26:04):
that guy. Yeah, like the receive the receiving core is
a little tougher to parse out. I'm expecting a lot
of flat passes.

Speaker 1 (26:13):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (26:14):
Keane Houghton Uh involved in the passing game quite a
bit with Godwin and and Evan's sideline.

Speaker 3 (26:20):
You know they had McLaughlin. But when you don't have
guys on the outside of you providing that sort of
excuse me, McMillan, McMillan, Yeah, when you got you don't
have Evans and Godwin and those guys, everybody just becomes
as he looks the same mic, just a kind of.

Speaker 2 (26:41):
A JAG's unfortunate.

Speaker 3 (26:43):
Yeah, yeah, so I think especially you know, you know
you're a jag when I don't get the name right.

Speaker 4 (26:49):
Of the first seldom used. So you're trying to see,
all right, who's gonna fly. But but you got McLaury,
you got the McLachlin. It is political season, so those
are running. I mean, all of those things.

Speaker 3 (27:03):
My apologies to Jalen mcmillart on that one. We'll send
them catch my.

Speaker 2 (27:08):
Drift percent all right.

Speaker 4 (27:10):
Rashaan Bateman with Zay Flowers Mispractice on Thursday, keep an
eye on that one. Bateman walked into the end zone
last week. We'll see if you get more of it.
Jacoby Myers, someone's got to catch a ball for the
Vegas Raiders. H and then Tony Franklin, the target count's
been really good.

Speaker 3 (27:28):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (27:28):
They're in Denver and their big favorites against the Panthers.
So rolling the dice that we can find a little
bit of hay with all of the injuries, in effectiveness
and folks looking for a diamond in the rough.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
Maybe Franklin is mint.

Speaker 3 (27:42):
Did you say Tony Franklin the old Patriots kicker or
do you mean Troy f.

Speaker 2 (27:46):
I meant Troy, I do get.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
That's okay, that's all right.

Speaker 2 (27:52):
He can't read my own handwriting.

Speaker 3 (27:54):
That's okay. Tony Franklin. Was he the one that kicked
the snowplow field goal for the Patriots against the Dolphins?

Speaker 2 (28:01):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (28:02):
I think it was. I think that's who it was.

Speaker 4 (28:06):
Just have those days where your your brain goes so
fast and there it is.

Speaker 3 (28:13):
I'll take I'll take full responsibility for these for this
train going off the tracks. There you are your ninja's
gold Soares and odd plays for the UH for the week.
Ian Roddy, that's a name I get right. He's going
to have your streaming defenses coming up next. Plus I'll
give you a points of Paloozer survivor pick in a
very fitting Oasis tribute for this week's Oasis play. That's

(28:37):
all next to you and I Want Your Flex. All right,
as we wrap up this edition of I Want Your Flex,
remember everybody is playing this week there are no buys.
He is Mike Carmen, I'm Dan byer Ian Roddy is
here and I pose the question and we talked about
it on our episode earlier this week, one of our
episodes earlier this week on why there's no Bys in

(28:58):
week eight and I brought bught this up on the
network during Doug Gottlieb Show. Had to be on Tuesday
or Wednesday, one of those days the weeks get away
from the days get away from me. The point is
Mike Sando, longtime NFL reporter, came on the show and basically,
you know, Mike knows a lot of this weird information.

(29:20):
He didn't even have an answer for it. Wow, And
he said that he was going to check with the
league to find out. He said, I'll tweet it out
if I get an answer. I have not seen a
tweet from Mike Sando on why the NFL doesn't have
any team on buy in week eight. I don't know
if we'll ever get the answer. Maybe they didn't want
to give him an answer, but even he didn't know

(29:41):
why there was. It's not sweepsweek, which really isn't a
thing anymore, right, none of that is there, So there's
no answer for that whatsoever.

Speaker 4 (29:49):
You want to go back and tell him to double
down and ask how they missed the face mask call
on Samgard, Well.

Speaker 3 (29:56):
We'll just we'll do it one step at a time, Mike,
that's a will.

Speaker 4 (30:00):
Look at one question one question one? Are the robot
umpires coming for the back of the end zone.

Speaker 3 (30:07):
The funny thing is, too, is the Rams. They never
benefit from obvious calls. Right, Saints? All right, Ian, give
me your streaming defense. Is four Week eight of the
NFL season. The defenses you need to pick up because
of advantageous matchups this week.

Speaker 5 (30:23):
Yes, sir, all right. So we'll start with the Los
Angeles Chargers rostered in fifty six point two percent of leagues,
so they might be out there a little less than
half playing against the Saints. They should be starting Rattler,
which would be great for the Chargers defense if it's
car this, they move down a little in my rankings.
I still think you can definitely start the Chargers regardless,

(30:44):
but if they're playing Rattler, that's like a smash smash
play because Rattler himself, he's allowed two top two defensive
performance in the two starts he's had, and then the
Chargers themselves get lots of turnover six most in the
league and the seventh fewest yards per game allowed, So
pretty good real life defense in the Chargers. And then
the Houston Texans are the other one. I've got the

(31:06):
their roster in forty six point three percent of league,
so less than half. They're playing against the Colts who
were starting Anthony Richardson, which, funny enough, if they were
starting their backup Joe Flacco, I would feel less confident
about starting the Texans defense. But Richardson, as we know,
he's prone to turnovers, and the Texans are top ten
and creating turnovers, so I'm expecting at least one turnover

(31:28):
to happen in that game. That's my hot prediction there.
And then second fewest yards per game allowed by the Texans,
so it's another good real life defense. And then one
more extra one if Jaden Daniels doesn't play, I love
the Bears defense because that's Marcus Mariota. So I really

(31:48):
like the Bears defense. They're roster in forty six percent
of league, so they might be out there as well.
But again, it really depends if Daniel's plays, because if
he does, I'm not starting them.

Speaker 3 (31:57):
I picked up the Vikings defense this week because I
wanted something to watch on Thursday night and they were available,
and I benched the Bears. So I hope you're wrong.
You're very sound reasoning and sorry to go against your
Bears Mike with that pick, but I'm like, ah, give
me an interest on Thursday night.

Speaker 5 (32:16):
I mean again, if Daniels is playing, I don't.

Speaker 3 (32:19):
Want to don think he's going to.

Speaker 2 (32:21):
Yeah, it doesn't sound promising.

Speaker 4 (32:23):
So they did the week to week at the start
of the practice week anyway, So.

Speaker 5 (32:29):
If you assume it's Mariota, then they're a pretty good
start in my opinion.

Speaker 3 (32:33):
All right. I like those selections to kind of go
along with what we were talking about earlier my Survivor
pick of the week. I don't know how the Jets
can lose this game. I know it's on the road,
it's against Jets with your survivor pick. I think Broncos
are the other because Bryce Young against that defense, he's

(32:56):
going to need another six weeks off after playing in
Week eight against Denver. What a game to return the
only saving grace. Maybe bow Nick's on the other side,
but you know, Mike, you put him as a as
a possible play this week, and we've seen more with
his legs, We've seen things kind of evolve for Denver.
So just a just a tough, tough spot for the Panthers.

(33:17):
I think you're going to see a lot of people
jumping on Denver this week for a survivor pick. So
I like the Chargers thoughts as well, But I just
I don't see how the Jets can go to in six.

Speaker 2 (33:28):
Yeah, look at it. I mean.

Speaker 4 (33:31):
Touchdown favorites going up against the rook running back position.
A bit unsettled Stevenson. It looks like he'll go motivation
game after a disaster last week, right, So like all
of that points to a the Jet. This is gonna
be the best effort you get out of the Jets,

(33:52):
right Like I was talking about with the Cowboys earlier,
Like if they can't do it this week, then you
just punt.

Speaker 3 (34:00):
I agree with that.

Speaker 5 (34:01):
I do too, he does.

Speaker 3 (34:04):
I got a points of palooza for you. I'm gonna
ride this Colts Texans train. If I knew DK Metcalf
was playing for Seattle, I think you could maybe have
a little fun in that Bill Seahawks game. But Seattle's
defense played pretty good against Atlanta, keeping them in check.
You talked about the Bill's strength, Mike, and if you
don't have DK Metcalf, you don't have that playmaker. Yeah,

(34:26):
that's going to be that's gonna be tough to deal with.
So I got Colts Texans and what could be some fun.
I'm not going to give you the obvious points of bealza.
With the highest points total of the week, that's Jaguars Packers.
I believe according to the lines that I'm looking at
Mike forty nine and a half. So I'm gonna go
along that train you had. Jordan Love is your second quarterback.
My Oasis tribute this week, who Feels Love a song

(34:51):
by Oasis I do and I am feeling Jordan Love
against the Jacksonville Jaguars off the album Standing on the
Shoulder of Giants. Schoo Feels Love. I do Jordan Love
of the Green Bay Packers' is by Oasis Tribute of
the Week.

Speaker 2 (35:06):
I did that.

Speaker 3 (35:07):
Yeah, I figure it fits, it ends up, it ends
up working for us. I also have brought up stat muse,
and this is to follow up a conversation that we
had during the break on the Colts Texans and the
game that I went to where I felt I was
down forty five points. I undersold it, guys, I undersold

(35:28):
what those receivers did. T Y Hilton on November third
of twenty thirteen had seven receptions one hundred and twenty
one yards and three touchdowns in that game. I also
had Andre Johnson playing, who had nine catches, two hundred
and twenty nine yards and.

Speaker 2 (35:45):
Three touchdowns twenty nine.

Speaker 3 (35:47):
I got six touchdowns from guys at a game that
I was ast It was amazing, truly, truly spectacular and funny.

Speaker 4 (35:56):
There's DeAndre Hopkins, he was a rookie that year. Three catches,
fifty four yards.

Speaker 3 (36:00):
Yeah, how about that?

Speaker 5 (36:01):
What was a better day for you, Dan that day
or the birth of your son?

Speaker 3 (36:06):
God? Question, very very good question. We're gonna give it
to Brody, you know, I'm gonna give him the edge,
But The Texans led twenty four to six in that game,
and then it ended up losing twenty seven to twenty
four as t Y Hilton caught touchdown passes two and

(36:27):
three in that fourth quarter. His three touchdown basses all
came in the second quarter. It's crazy, and Ian, you
pointed out that t Y Hilton had some really good
games against the Texans, right.

Speaker 5 (36:39):
Yeah, It's like every time he played the Texans, he
would just put up at least two touchdowns.

Speaker 3 (36:42):
Okay, So October ninth, twenty fourteen, nine receptions, two hundred
and twenty three yards. December ninth, twenty eighteen, nine receptions,
one hundred and ninety nine yards, twenty seventeen, November fifth,
five receptions one hundred and seventy five five yards, twenty thirteen,
the game I just told you about twenty eighteen September eighth,

(37:06):
September thirtieth of twenty eighteen, four catches, one hundred and
fifteen yards. He had one hundred and fifteen yards in
another game. His eighth best effort against the Texans was
an eight catch, one hundred and ten yard performance. So like, yeah,
you are talking about you are absolutely right about the
t Y Hilton dominance over the Houston Texans pretty darn

(37:28):
absurd when it gets down to it.

Speaker 4 (37:30):
Also, just just the note on his career, six hundred
and thirty eight catches, ninety eight hundred yards. I don't
think he gets nearly the respect he deserves.

Speaker 2 (37:40):
His nice career.

Speaker 3 (37:41):
Yeah, well eighty two hundred of him came against the Texans.
Sounds like maybe that's why.

Speaker 4 (37:45):
You ever got to see Trent Richardson run the ball
in that game? Hey, what the hell Griff Whalen was
on the field to your posey, Yeah, come on now.

Speaker 3 (37:56):
Buck guy there. Yeah, just crazy, but Mac was punting again.
The eighth best game that t Y Hilton had in
his career, he had one hundred and ten yards in
a touchdown. So there were seven games better than that
against the Houston Texans.

Speaker 2 (38:15):
And Roddy you are correct sir.

Speaker 3 (38:18):
Yes there it is all right. Our t Y Hilton
love will end here. T Y thank you, as the
kids would now say, we always thank you for listening
to this podcast. We'll be back with a recap of
we Gate. Mike's got a head out east for a
few days. Were coming back in time for the podcast,
So save travels to you, Mike, thanks Sir and Ian.

(38:40):
Thanks all for all the help, and we thank you
again for listening. So for Ian, Roddy and Mike Carmen.
I am dan Meyer. I can't wait to talk to
you next time, right here on I wander Flex
