Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Well that's right, you heard the man to that time
of week. My name is Bernie Frattle.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
We are coming you live from a tire rac dot
com studios here at Las Vegas, Fox Sports Radio, tirerac
dot Com. We'll help you get there at n maxed selection,
fast free shipping, free road after protection and over ten
thousand recommended installers. Absolute jam pack.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Shouldn't know.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
We've got college football, the NFL, all kinds of subject matter,
brand newfool, what my name? But I have to start
with the World Series, and I have to hone right
in on one particular subject matter that's frankly starting to
eat at me a little bit. We were told this was
a star studded World Series and the two biggest stars

(00:46):
obviously are Otanian Judge. I'm gonna start with Judge and
I'll make a statement and I'll be captain obvious. The
Yankees are not gonna win this World Series with this
version of Aaron Judge. Now he hasn't been named the
American League MVP yet, but you know, it appears that's
a FATA complete and it'll happen.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
And Saturday he proved that.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
You know, the prior at bats in the twenty twenty
four playoffs. And by the way, not just this season.
In a minute, I'm gonna give you Aaron Judge his
career postseason numbers. This is not his first barbecue, He's
say in his first barbecue, and they're not good with
Saturday Night. Well for four or three strikeouts in this
World Series. He's now one for nine with six strikeouts,

(01:32):
six for forty with nineteen strikeouts in this postseason. Now,
the Yankees got through the Alds and the Alcs without
Aaron Judge doing anything nothing. And you know, I don't
think he has to do what he necessarily did during
the regular season when he hit three twenty two with

(01:53):
fifty eight home runs. But if he continues down this path,
they will not beat the Dodgers four times in the
next five games. Now, g and Carlos Stanton, he had
a big home run in Game one, ended up not mattering.
Juan Soto delivered the Yankees' first two hits in Game two,
including home run. But Aaron Judge, the third member of

(02:13):
the three stooges, needs to show up.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
This isn't funny anymore. What's wrong? Just so you know
this is not a new phenomenon. Aaron Judge has been around,
He's been in Big League is eight years. He's played
one hundred and fifty.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
Five postseason games his career both postseason batting average one
ninety nine. That's right one point below the Mendoza line.
He's had a total of two hundred and eleven postseason
at bats and he's struck out eighty five times. Now,
that's the postseason cumulatively, but he's an equal opportunity playoff

(02:53):
bust because cumulatively in the Alds he's hitt he won
ninety two. Cumulatively in the A in his career he'shit
he won ninety three and again one for nine with
six k's in the World Series so far, and we're
just getting started. This is for a guy who at
three twenty two fifty eight home runs this year. Oh,

(03:13):
by the way, he's got a career batting average of
two eighty eight. Paging Aaron Judge and listen, give it up.
Let's give the Dodgers a tremendous amount of credit. You know,
pitching is ninety percent of the game. It sets the
tone for everything. If you throw strikes, you're you know,

(03:34):
every fifteen seconds. Your defense stays alert. They know they could,
You know they can expect a ball. You don't give
a team five outs an inning, You get the drill.
And what makes the I will say this about this,
what makes the Dodgers' performance, particularly on the mount, so
impressive this year, is let's go back to what this

(03:56):
roster looked like six months ago and compare it to
what it looks like now. There is no Clayton Kershaw,
there is no Tyler Glass now, no Gonsolin, no Mate,
no Stone, and no Otani. And let's forget about all
the all star arms that the Dodgers used to have
that they no longer have due to their irresponsible new
discretions against women.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Trevor Bauer.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
He ended up being the twenty twenty four Mexican League
pitcher of the Year that the league and wins winning percentage,
struck out one hundred and twenty guys in eighty and
he can still pitch. Even though he beat the rap.
His history of behavior surfaced with other women, so it
doesn't look like he's going to be pitching for the
Dodgers anytime soon.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
But they had him at one time.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
How about Julio Urius, an unsigned free agent, got three
years probation after pleading no contest.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
You saw the video in September. It wasn't good.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
It's amazing how many great arms that went away, and
yet the Dodgers, the Dodgers are still getting it done.
By the way, later in the show, I'm going to
talk about one of the great Dodger pitchers of all time.
I'm going to give a genuine tribute. I'm win a
clearer path a little later in the show. You don't
want to miss it regarding Fernando of Avenezuela. Believe me,

(05:07):
I know the history, I know the story.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
I was there.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
So the bottom line is give it up to the Dodgers.
They head back to New York and they're up to
Oh and I saw the great Jim Palmer say this
World Series is over.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
Ah easy, Jim.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
The nineteen seventy eight World Series between the Dodgers and
Yankees featured the Dodgers winning games one and two at
Chavez Ravine, then proceeded to lose the next four. Reggie
Jackson hit check. Remember that Bucky Dent was the MVP.
Catfish Hunter won the deciding game, Game six, out dueling
Don Sutton, who actually lost three games in that series,
the great Don Sutton. So you never know. Do I

(05:45):
think that's gonna happen? Unlikely because right now, as Tommy
Lasorda would say, as he once said about Kurt Bavaqua,
I don't think Aaron Judge can hit water if he
fell out of a boat. So the Dodgers, as they
celebrate taking the first two games of the World Series,
they do so with a big question in the back
of their minds will they have Shohi Otani in full

(06:07):
strength for the rest of the series. He was caught
stealing in the seventh inning, but was helped off the
field by the training staff and an on field Mike
caught him saying his left shoulder was injured after the
game and that they say it popped out. I guess
popped out of a shoulder after the game, and you
heard the sound bite. Dave Roberts said it was a

(06:27):
shoulders sublexation, which I think is I thought was a
chiropractic term, but they said the Dodgers were encouraged by
the initial results before further testing. Well, I don't have
no idea what that means. By the way, Otani's about
to be the National League MVP. He's also only one
for eight in the series. So Otani and Judge two
for seventeen cumulatively with twelve strikeouts. But the Dodgers are deep.

(06:50):
Mookie Betts, Tommy Edmund, you name it, next man up,
give it up to the Dodgers. I keep thinking back
to that Padres game in Game three when they were
done six to one and they put a microphone in
front of Dave Ropard's face. He says, we're not going
to wave the white flag. Look what they've done since then.
Big tip of the cap to the Dodgers and all
your folks listening on five seventy am as you navigate

(07:11):
the freeways, which I used to do there in southern California.
So bottom line, after the dramatics of the first game
of the World Series, Saturday's game was sort of blase.
He right, Dodgers hitters. I just talked about their pitching
well deserved. They jumped on Carlos Rodin. That fastball must
have looked like a beach ball. They give up three dingers,

(07:32):
including back to back jacks to ti Oscar Hernandez and
Freddie Freeman, and they finally chased him in the fourth inning. Meanwhile,
your Chernobyl Yamamoto had one of his best outings of
the year when it mattered most.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Final score four.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
To two, Dodgers up two zip in the series. Now,
Yankees did not go out without a fight. After Gene
Carlos Stanton drove in Juan Soda with an RBI single
that struck the third base bag. The next two hitters
reached the load the bases, and then Blake try and
struck out Anthony Volpe and Alex Vesia came in retired,
was a travino in one pitch to escape the jam.

(08:06):
Good night, Nurse, We'll see in New York. And again
the Dodgers joy was tempered because of what happened in
the bottom of the set. Now, if Otani is indeed injured,
the rest of the series theoretically could look meaningly different,
and that attempted steal might turn out to be an
important play in the series. We don't know yet, Okay,
I don't know. If Carlos Rodin depended on his fastball

(08:29):
and it looked very hittable and the Dodgers took advantage
of it. Meanwhile, not only did Yoshinobol Yamamoto come up
with a great performance. He pitched deep end of the game,
and he retired the final eleven batters he saw. So
the Dodgers, I understand they'll pitch Walker Buehler Monday night
and then Tuesday will be a bullpen game. Back to Aaron,

(08:52):
Judge again six for thirty six heading into Saturday night
with sixteen strikeouts one sixty seven. Saturday proved he's not
getting out of this slump anytime soon. Over four struck
out three times and flew out the right field. Interestingly enough,
Aaron Boone, the Yankees manager, was asked Friday night if
you would consider dropping Judge below stanton the lineup. His answers,

(09:16):
A kurt No, No, you know, Billy Martin once not
only moved Reggie Jackson down the seventh in the line
up during the playoffs, he actually benched Reggie once. Then
he put him up to pinch it and Reggie hit
a key double.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
Yeah. I don't think Aaron's doing any of that, And
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
I'm not gonna second guess Aaron Boone, but right now
he looks very overmatched in Jay Roberts, who's taking a
beating the last ten years. Even though the Dodgers have
been the fixture in the playoffs, all of a sudden
looks like the Messiah. Don't count your chickens too fast.
Baseball's a funny game. They got to get you out
twenty seven times, but I'll sell you unless Aaron Judge

(09:51):
wakes up. It's hard to believe the Yankees are gonna
are gonna come back and win this thing. But let's
see what happens Monday. Let's see what it happens Monday
coming up. You know him, you love him, You can't
leave without him. Steve Fessick, the only two time winner,
back to back winner of the Hilton, the prestigious Hilton
now Westgate Super Contest, joins us as we dive into

(10:13):
a full NFL slate. No Bye Sunday, and we've got
several good talking points that you're gonna want to take
part in. I'm Bernie Friddle. We are coming to you
line from Las Vegas, Fox Sports Radio, tyrac dot Com studios.
Keep it locked right here. You're listening to the Bernie
Fradle Show on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
We're back in the Bernie Frawdle Show, Fox Sports Radio.
We head into NFL Week eight, so much to talk to,
so much to get to.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
You know him, you love me. You can't leave without him.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
The only two time winner, back to back winner, the
prestigious Hilton now Westgates Super Contest. You hear him every
Saturday night here at eleven fifteen Pacific time on the
Bernie Fraddle Show. It is time with the Phasik five.

Speaker 1 (11:02):
It's the Physick Fly. These are the five things you.

Speaker 4 (11:05):
Need to hear about, not with the only backed up
back Hilton Super Contest winner Steve Zig.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
Here's Bernie Fratto.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
All right, fans, we're jammed to night, so we're gonna
dive right in and before we get to at least
nine matchups that I want to handicap. You have come
to the conclusion the world of betting NFL sides is
dramatically shifted and it's now very very difficult to bet
sides and win on any kind of consistent basis.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
Give us your thesis.

Speaker 5 (11:39):
Yeah, So, what's happened is that the marketplace has become
so efficient, and when there's an inefficiency or a line
that's wrong, either a right angle sports or a Hitman
or myself gives it out the clients, and it moves
so quickly that the market just like like foot soldiers
falling in place, boom, it moves and there's no longer

(12:01):
any value after the line moves, such that I've hit
the point where I've become convinced the way if you're
gonna lay mine one ten, the only way you're gonna
win or the likely the only way setting NFL sites
later in the week is to get in front of information. Now,
we just had that with the Marcus trying to figure
out if Daniels is going to play for Washington, and

(12:21):
the feeling was it was unlikely and Washington was catching
plus three, and now there's a whole bunch of uncertainty
about whether he'll be playing in that line has dropped
the Bears no longer three point favorite. The Bears are
now currently a minus one and a half point favorite.
Not certain Daniels is going to play, but a lot
more likely than it was just a half hour ago.

Speaker 3 (12:40):
Yeah, that's information like that to me creates confusion. So
if you didn't know the side you were on early
in the week, your best best stay away.

Speaker 5 (12:47):
In my opinion, No, I got a strongly I got
to strongly disagree. It's like it's like the stock market.
If you've got if you're on the phone and blue Horse,
who tells you that Washington plus three and it's on
the move. Bernie, there's no reason not to grab pluster.
You know why, because you can just play back minus
one in Chicago and have a perfectly profitable middle. So

(13:09):
you just have to be first. You can't be what.
You can't do it ten minutes after it happens. You
got to do it within thirty seconds. Is extremely stressful
and it's hard, but it's very profitable.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
Look, I don't want to spend any more time on
this game until we get to it later.

Speaker 3 (13:23):
But let me just say this. The Bears have no
business land points on the road.

Speaker 6 (13:27):
I know that.

Speaker 2 (13:28):
I only agree on yeah, So let's come back to
that in a manifest.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
We'll also get back to your best bet in a
little bit as well. One quick thing, because typically we
know that teasers can be profitable. I'm not a fan
because you need two outcomes, but be that as it may.
There's still value out there. But you happen to think
this week offers virtually no value on any teaser.

Speaker 5 (13:51):
Oh, it's just horrible, and that the Wong teasers in
reach Standford Wong's book Sharp Sports Betting, and he has
an entire chapter describing profitable teasers. And to have one,
you need to have a home favorite, not a road favorite.
Has to be a home favorite of seven and a half,
eight or eight and a half. You tease that down
below the three, so you're teasing through those key numbers

(14:12):
of three, four, six, seven. Or you can have a
dog a plus one a half, plus two or plus
two and a half home er way and tease that
up six points. But the problem, Bernie, is that there
just aren't any real good qualifiers this week, even the
plus two and albs. They're really like plus two point
seventy five. What am I talking about? Fez Wine can't

(14:33):
be two point seven five? Well, in games like Atlanta
Tampa Bay, you're seeing Atlanta's laying two and a half,
but in some spots are laying like mix two and
a half league a dollar twenty, So there's a little
extra vigue on the favorite. So the dog is not
nearly as attractive as it normally would be for a teaser.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
Fair enough, and we've got a lot of road favorites
this week to your point.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
So let's start right into this.

Speaker 3 (14:57):
To start with one huge road favorite.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
They were laying ten.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
I think it's down to she's depending where you shop,
nine and a half ninety, whatever the case may be.
The send off line, Patrick Mahomes five and twelve against
the number is a road favor more than ten points.
It's a stay away game completely for me.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
And I would just.

Speaker 3 (15:17):
Say, this road to the super Bowl will go through
Kansas City and the AFC this year. Do you have
any thoughts about their Raiders Chiefs game face?

Speaker 5 (15:25):
Normally I would be betting the Raiders, but there's two
reasons I won't be number one every year in Vegas.
This is like the Chiefs home away from home. They
won the Super Bowl year and they represent so much.
I was on the strip and like all kinds of
red from Kansas City Chief fans visiting our fair city.
So Stave's gonna be half Chief fans. And secondly, the

(15:48):
Raiders won on Christmas against the Chiefs last year, and
apparently they made fun of Mahomes had a likened his
his voice his voice to Kermit the fraud and like
brought in to Kermit the frog to their locker room,
and Mahomes says, you know, we'll deal with that when
the appropriate time comes. Well, that time comes tomorrow, so

(16:10):
I don't want to step in front of that.

Speaker 7 (16:11):
I'm gonna pass.

Speaker 2 (16:12):
Interestingly enough, the last game the Chiefs lost was Christmas
Day against these Raiders who don't really resemble an NFL
team at this point.

Speaker 3 (16:22):
Baltimore or Lana boatload at Cleveland. Brown's catching eight and
a half, famous Jamis gets his start. This is the
largest spread between these two teams since twenty eighteen. Thoughts
on that game.

Speaker 5 (16:33):
Yeah, so in terms of a yards per play, this
is like an epic mismatch because Baltimore game seven point
two yards per play and they only give up like
five and a half, and Cleveland's on the opposite side
of that. They give up more than one yard per
play than they gain, so it's almost a three yard
per play differential that would land on Baltimore. But Cleveland
should be better with James Winston on offense. This is

(16:55):
gonna be my best bets on the total. I'm gonna
go over the forty five. No one's gonna stop Baltimore,
and I think Cleveland can get some point.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
Well, we'll see, Well, Jamis throw two or three or
four pick sixes, but when you're catching more than a
touchdown at home in a divisional matchup, that's decided to
look too So I'll grant you that.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
But Jamis will never get any of my money.

Speaker 3 (17:13):
All right, Detroit, Now, I got to tell you, you know,
I covered the Lions for years. The last time they
laid a number of this, big Scott Mitchell was the
quarterback and they had Herman Moore and Barry Sanders.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
That was back in nineteen ninety six.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
Lion's laying eleven against Tennessee and an odd, an odd
trend that has no bearing on anything, believe it or not.
The last six times Tennessee is at Tennessee and Detroit
have locked horns, the Titans won all six.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
Any thoughts on this.

Speaker 5 (17:39):
Game, Well, Detroit is awesome, obviously, but the spot is terrible.
They got their their big game against Dallas where they've
just were incredible, then they get the win against Minnesota,
they got at Green Bay on deck. So this is
a flat spot of all flat spots. But those Tennessee Titans,
that quote Wall Street all we just.

Speaker 7 (17:58):
Got back from that five Sale.

Speaker 5 (18:00):
You're having a blue star over there. Well, they're having
it on the Tennessee Titans getting rid of everybody. So
I don't I don't think I can do it, Bernie,
I passed.

Speaker 2 (18:09):
Give my best to Bud Fox if you would on
the way out. All right, fez uh.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
This game baffles me a little, only only because Jacksonville
is getting four home against green Bay. Green Bay's outstanding.
They're two and two against the number this year is
a favorite this season. H and another another trend that
means virtually nothing. The last three games that Jacksonville played
in London came back State sat and won. Here riddled

(18:37):
me this, batman. Why does Jacksonville continue to get sharp money?
And why would you grab Jacksonville plus four in this game?

Speaker 2 (18:45):
Make the case.

Speaker 5 (18:46):
Well first and foremost, and I tweet these every week
at sayes ex Sports power ratings. I have green Bay
very strong, four points better than average team. But call
me crazy my numbers, and I'm not on an island here.
I've got jacksone, just a point and a half worse
than that everage team. So you look tick the difference
that makes the game five and FMN neutral. Yes, yep,
you give Jacksonville one half for on field.

Speaker 1 (19:08):
Bang.

Speaker 5 (19:09):
You land on four, Bernie, and that's the number.

Speaker 2 (19:11):
I don't know how we're gonna be. That doesn't mean
you want to grab it.

Speaker 3 (19:14):
You only believe Jacksonville's a live dog. You want to
be a fish better hoping it's a field goal game.

Speaker 5 (19:19):
Well, I make the game four. I don't know how
I'm going to profit laying or taking four.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
I pass fair, that's fair.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
My premise was that Jacksonville continues to get sharp money
fair enough.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
I I'm just not sure why. All Right, the you know.

Speaker 3 (19:36):
Dumpster Fire Bowl, Dallas visits San Francisco, the Niners land,
for the Niners own three straight wins over Dallas in
the last three years. Until you see Dallas cover one.
There's another team. I don't know how you grab the points.
Feels like a get right game for the forty nine ers.
They're only three and four and the NFC West is
wide open.

Speaker 5 (19:56):
Your thoughts, Yeah, I would normally agree with you, but
Dallas getting just absolutely boat raced, and that's a port term.
We got to find a better more than boat raced.
Like I like your dumpster fire against Detroit, and I've
had two weeks to stew about it. You got to field,
they get their best effort, they'll be The players who
can play will be healthier, and the Niners are all

(20:17):
banged up. If I had to invest in the current
numbers four and a half, I would look to take
the plus four and a half.

Speaker 3 (20:22):
Interesting, wow, because that Dallas team looks like a shot fighter.
I mean they're bad, all right. Another divisional matchup, another
home dog, Tampa Bay catching two and a half. I
know the Bucks only march out the thirtieth ranked defense.
Falcons have won three of the last four matchups versus

(20:43):
Tampa Bay. And I know no Mike Evans, no Chris Godwin,
but it's a key divisional matchup, home dog. Not a
game I'm going to be involved in, but I might
be a contrarian and look to Tampa Bay if I
were to touch this game, although I haven't your thoughts.

Speaker 5 (20:58):
So the world's worst portfolio on this total. Last week
on the look Ahead, I played over forty eight and
now Bernie, if anything, I like under forty six, under
forty five and a half. I think that's a huge
deal of cluster injuries to the wide receivers. It's a
hugely important divisional game. I think Atlanta's going to approach
it saying, you know, if we don't turn the ball over,
we should win. And I don't see how Tampa's going

(21:20):
to score all that many points. So in a twenty
two to twenty two tie, I guess I lean Tampa
Bay and I lean to the under.

Speaker 3 (21:28):
All right, Fez, I like it. I like that a lot. Actually,
I have to really consider that Philadelphia visit Cincinnati fees.
This might be my favorite player of the week, the
Bengals right now. I show them minus two. I don't
know what the number is right now. Interestingly enough, Cincinnati
has lost all three home games this year and they

(21:49):
haven't covered any of them. But I like what Joe
Burrow is doing, and many of their defensive metrics have
proved have improved dramatically in the last month. Like Cincinnati
starts to take care of business and assert themselves, and
you never know what you're going to get with this
Philadelphia team.

Speaker 5 (22:06):
Your thoughts, Yeah, the market, the sharp market agrees with you.
The money's coming on Cincinnati. It's up to the Bengals
minus two and a half. Early in the betting cycle,
I took a better number on the Eagles, but I
had the Eagles rated higher than the Bengals. I'm kind
of on an island there. Normally my ratings represent the
overall marketplace, so I think the Eagles are better. So
I would look towards the Eagles plus the two and

(22:27):
a half, and this is one of those teams I
actually would be willing to tease.

Speaker 7 (22:30):
Probably.

Speaker 5 (22:31):
However, like I said, there's a differing opinion out there,
so we'll see what plays out.

Speaker 2 (22:37):
Says this is a game.

Speaker 3 (22:39):
I'm really looking forward to hearing your opinion on another
home dog, another divisional home dog, New England catching seven
at home against the visiting New York Jets. The Jets
can't block anybody. The Jets can't protect Aaron Rodgers. They
struggle to run the ball. Wow, WHOOPTI damn? Do they
pick up DeVante Adams? He caught three ball for thirty

(23:00):
yards last week. The Jets don't execute, and yet they're
laying seven on the road against New England. And by
the way, I should know, these two teams combined are
three and eleven against the spread this year. Can you
make any case whatsoever for the Jets laying seven, or
for that matter, the Pats taking seven.

Speaker 5 (23:21):
I can make a case for the Jets, and let
me do it here. So last week the Jets were
at Pittsburgh and they were laying three. That was the
closing number there at some places. All right, all right,
now they're laying seven. The Patriots versus the Steelers will
compare their two opponents. There is no comparison. The Steelers
are an above average team and the Patriots I have

(23:42):
rated seven points worse than ever seen.

Speaker 7 (23:44):
So think about this.

Speaker 5 (23:45):
I literally have the Jets have an opponent that's like
nine points worse than there were than their opponent last week,
but the spread has only moved four points. That means
the Jets have been downgraded five points. It seems like
a little bit too much to me. If I had
to play it, I would lay it.

Speaker 3 (24:04):
Okay, fair, fair enough. You hold your nose and do
what you think's right. Buffalo visits Seattle, another home dog,
Seattle catching three at home. It's my belief that the
Sharps are on the home team here. Interestingly enough, the
Seabags sit atop the NFCUS with a four and three record,
Yet they're a twenty third ranked defense and twenty fourth
ranked offense. Go figure, do you like a side in

(24:26):
this game?

Speaker 5 (24:28):
I don't. I know that you're right. The Sharps do
like Seattle plus the three, but I can't get past
I like these comps Burnie. So Seattle was just home
against San Francisco, all right, I think San Fran and Buffalo.
That Buffalo is better than San Francisco, Right, But so
San Fran walked into Seattle and they won by twelve.
So San Fran could get that done, we would expect

(24:50):
Buffalo could do the same. So that's contrarian to what
this lion and the line movement has been. Because of that,
I will not bet Seattle.

Speaker 3 (24:59):
Okay, Moving along, Indy visits Houston. The Colts have beaten
Houston for their last five, despite the fact that they
feature the league's twenty ninth ranked defense. Hell, why bother
winning NFL games? Why start Joe Flacker when you can
start Anthony Richardson, who struggles mightily to be a consistent
major league quarterback. But I get it, they're building for

(25:20):
the future. Why worry about winning games now? Although Indy
is sneaky weird in this game, and if I had
the gun to my head, which I don't, I might
look to Indy in the points.

Speaker 5 (25:30):
Your thoughts, Yeah, Indy's healthier than they were earlier in
the year when they lost to Houston, and Houston's not
as healthy that Nico Collins is. Losing their number one
wide receiver for Houston has really been a problem. I
would look only towards Indy, but I didn't do it.

Speaker 7 (25:45):
I passed.

Speaker 3 (25:46):
I will just say this and the reason we're not
betting it. So it's a dead number five points. But
Houston's got the DNA.

Speaker 2 (25:53):
Man. I love Demico Ryans, I love that defense. I
love CJ. Stroud. They've just got a weird DNA.

Speaker 3 (25:59):
All right, don't look now, but your Chicago Bears stave,
I believe you. Hail from the Great City Chicago. Have
won three in a row. They feature the league's number
three defense, and Caleb Williams is actually starting to do
some of the things that people wished Justin Fields could
do in the thirty eight starts he had. It's an

(26:19):
interesting matchup to see stallsmic fights. So you got the
number three defense against the number three overall defense and
Jaide Daniels might play. Do you have a thought on
the Bears Commandos?

Speaker 5 (26:30):
It's the ultimate free roll right now. So the Bears
have settled in pretty much as a one and a
half point favorite right now. They were his high as three.
But there's a feeling that Jaydon Daniels might play. He
might just be the backup quarterback and might be active.
They didn't activate another quarterback. My feeling is that Washington
that they have to go with their backup quarterback in Mariota,

(26:52):
that he's perfectly capable, and the Bears maybe should be
a one point favorite. But here's where the free role
comes in. If we get dead, we got the wrong
team favorite clearly because Washington. I think Washington's better than
the Bears with Daniels, so absolutely, if you had to
make a bet right now at this moment, I could
only endorse Washington at home in.

Speaker 3 (27:11):
This spot, I think Washington's better than the Bears with
Marcus Marioto. Might not be next week or the week after,
but you know, Marcus is good for that one two
game out of the bullpen. You know, fiery energy. All right, Finally, Faz,
you do have a best bet. We take you back
to Baltimore, Cleveland. Tell the Peet's what your best bet is.

Speaker 5 (27:29):
Yeah, we are going with the over Baltimore, Cleveland over
forty five. What's hope for Winston to throw three touchdown passes,
one to the Baltimore team and Baltimore will get their
thirty points and we'll sell over the total.

Speaker 2 (27:41):
Yes, all right, Fez, enjoy your Sunday. We'll see you
next week, Bud.

Speaker 7 (27:44):
Thank you.

Speaker 5 (27:44):
Bernie.

Speaker 3 (27:45):
That is Steve Fasik to Physik five here him every
Saturday night, eleven feet in Pacific, here on the Bernie
Frattle Show.

Speaker 2 (27:52):
Coming up, I want to give a tribute, a Hartfield
tribute to the late great Fernando Valezuela. Contributions he made
to the Dodgers, to Major League Baseball, to the Latin
community immeasurable. The first we go to our guy. It's
Chef Kevin Wyre.

Speaker 1 (28:10):
With the latest, yeah burning.

Speaker 8 (28:11):
Game two of the World Series on a Saturday night
goes to the La Dodgers.

Speaker 9 (28:17):
Lavigno a right handed hitter. Bessia fires his first pitch.
Gravino hits a high fly ball.

Speaker 10 (28:25):
Left field, playable for Tommy Edmond who calls for it.

Speaker 1 (28:29):
Ben that so in prelay and that's.

Speaker 10 (28:31):
A two nothing World serious lead.

Speaker 8 (28:35):
That was Steven Nelson on FSR affiliate kl C and
the Dodgers Radio network, as LA beats the Yankees four
to two to take a two to nothing lead in
this best of seven World Series. Back to back home
runs by Tiascar Hernandez and Freddie Freeman in the third
inning helping propel LA past New York for the second
night in a row. But a scary night or scary

(28:57):
situation tonight as choey Otania, he was sliding into second
base on a stolen base attempt, appear to hurt his shoulder,
and Dave Roberts had an update on it after the game.

Speaker 11 (29:08):
He had a little left shoulder subliction, So we're gonna
get some tests at some point tonight tomorrow, and then
we'll know more in the.

Speaker 2 (29:17):
Next couple of days.

Speaker 11 (29:18):
But the strength was great, the range of motion good,
so we're encouraged.

Speaker 8 (29:24):
Game three set for Monday evening in the Bronx with
a first pitch set for eight o'clock Eastern time. In
at college football, we had a few good matchups on
Saturday into the SEC Texas A and m Man that
lost a Notre Dame to open the season. Seems like
a distant memory for the Aggies, as they'd beat LSU
on their home turf thirty eight to twenty three. They're

(29:46):
now seven and one on the season and undefeated SEC
play at five and oh Number five Texas gets by
number twenty five Vanderbilt twenty seven to twenty four. Quinn
youers with three touchdown passes. Number four Ohio State twenty
one seventeen winners against Nebraska, third ranked Penn State on
the road at Wisconsin. It's a Nitney Lions winning at

(30:07):
twenty eight to thirteen. It was an easy win for
number one or again against number twenty Illinois, the Ducks
winning at thirty eight to nine up in Eugene. Number
six Miami rules to eight to zero with a thirty
six to fourteen victory against Florida State, Number eleven BYU
over UCF thirty seven to twenty four. I had dreams
of an undefeated Army Navy Army Navy game at the

(30:30):
end of the season, and number twelve Notre Dame putting
that to end as they blow out the Midshipman at
fifty one to fourteen. Number thirteen Indiana over Washington thirty
one seventeen. Number fifteen Alabama shoutout win against number twenty
one Missouri thirty four to nothing and number sixteen Kansas State.
Trailing in much of their game against Kansas, but the

(30:51):
Wildcats pull out. They're in state rivalry against the Jayhawks
twenty nine to twenty seven. Number eighteen Ole miss twenty
six fourteen winners against Oklahoma, and number twenty two SMU
and do go to overtime where the Mustangs come away.

Speaker 1 (31:04):
With a twenty eight twenty seven win.

Speaker 3 (31:06):
Back to you, Bernie, all right, thanks Chef stan Casting.
The Dodgers President CEO issued a a press release three
days ago, quote we profoundly more in the passing of Fernando.
He's one of the most influential Dodgers ever. He belongs
on the route the mount Rushmore of franchise heroes. He
galvanized the fan base with Fernando Mania in nineteen eighty one.

(31:30):
He's remained close to our hearts ever since, not only
as a player, but as a broadcaster. He left us
all too soon, created a different vibe at ju Vezravine.
Coming up, I'm gonna give you five facts you never
knew about Fernando and my thoughts.

Speaker 2 (31:44):
Keep it locked. You're listening to the Bernie Frattle Show

Speaker 3 (32:00):
Al right back on the Bernie Fattles Show. Comy live
from the tyrerac dot com studios here in Las Vegas
Fox Sports Radio. I saw Fernando Alenzuela play many times
in person. A complete player, actually an excellent hitter ten
career home runs eighty four RBIs had a quick bat
forever making contact. One game in nineteen eighty two. He

(32:24):
was even inserted in right field and later in left
field in that same game, all doing it with a
smile on his face.

Speaker 2 (32:31):
True story.

Speaker 3 (32:32):
People think it all began on April ninth, nineteen eighty one,
sort of did. It's a Thursday Day game. Jerry Royce
had been scratched as the starter he had a calf injury.
Fernando responds by shutting out the Astros two to nothing,
and he was masterful. What followed four more shoutouts to
Sally Young Award Rookie of the Year, a start in

(32:52):
the Major League Baseball All Star Game that season, and
of course part of the World Series Championship. Fernando actually
won Game three in nineteen eighty one, forty three years
ago Thursday. Now what's interesting is, and by the way,
I've heard baseball writers who do this for a living

(33:13):
who were not around, said, I'm thinking maybe they didn't
want to disrupt the rotation. No, Fernando had already made
the rotation. They just moved him up to number two.

Speaker 2 (33:23):
I was there.

Speaker 3 (33:24):
Now, there's some other things you might not know, because
prior to that famous impactful start that got the Dodger
season going in nineteen eighty one, shutting out the Astros
after Jerry Royce was scratched, people forget the September prior.
Fernando actually pitched ten games in relief at age nineteen.

(33:47):
That's when he made his debut in September in nineteen
eighty and had ten games in relief. As a matter
of fact, now, that was the season that, after one
hundred and sixty two games, the Dodgers and Astros retired
for the division lead, they had to play Game one
sixty three, a one game playoff. Fernando actually came very
close to starting Game win sixty three. He didn't because

(34:10):
just the day before in Game one sixty two. He
had just pitched two innings of shutout relief in nineteen
eighty and nineteen years old, two wins, one saved, no
one runs allowed in seventeen point two innings pitch as
a nineteen year old. Then in nineteen eighty one, he
did not allow a run in his first sixteen innings pitch.

(34:32):
So he began his major league baseball career. Began his
career at age nineteen with thirty three and two thirds
scoreless innings. No one has ever done that since that.
She didn't know that? Did you know that? Fernando also
was a pretty good feeler. Won a Gold Glove Fernando,
And this is really rarefied air. These days actually had

(34:54):
a twenty win season. And I'm telling you Fernando could hit.
He was not overmatched at the play. I will tell
you Aaron Judge these past three days has been more
overmatched at the plate than Fernando ever looked. He got
his bath through the zone. He had great mechanics. I
actually thought we might be looking at the incarnation of
Babe Ruth. He was built the same. He could pitch,

(35:16):
he could hit. He was a hell of a ballplayer.
And everything he did was good. Ran the base as well,
and again ten home runs and eighty four RBIs as
a career hitter, actually won a Silver Slugger twice as
a career pitcher. Here's the deal, Fernando, he became a
Major League baseball megastar, frankly during one of the darkest

(35:38):
periods in baseball's history, and part of the Dodgers lore
and icon for decades. He left an enormous legacy right
before the World Series started. Remember back in nineteen eighty one,
the baseball players had that fifty day strike. They created
the split season, and I think it was like between

(35:58):
June fifteenth and August tenth, they didn't play any baseball
right in the middle of the summer. Finally the game
resumed the All Star Game in Cleveland they played the
second half of the season. Fernando started that All Star Game,
clearly the greatest ever Mexican born Major League baseball player.
Completely captivated the baseball world again, mainly in nineteen eighty
one when he burst upon the scene when the National

(36:21):
League Scion Award that year, won the National League Rookie
of the Year Award World Series title with the Dodgers
and started in the All Star Game. Now, he had
this weird, distinctive corkscrew pitching delivery where he would look
to the sky and his ball had tremendous movement and
tremendous late movement. Even though his fastball was only eighty

(36:42):
three miles an hour. He had this signature screwball that
frankly was just simply unhittable. He brought hitters to their knees.
Soon in nineteen eighty one, Fernando Velezuela simply became quote
Fernando Mania.

Speaker 2 (36:58):
He became a national phenomenon and it starts.

Speaker 3 (37:01):
They absolutely became must see appointment watching. Fernando's appeal was
so great that the Dodgers actually generated a seven percent
game attendance increase during the nineteen eighty one season, which
clearly was very much marred by the fifty days player strike,
the fifty day player strike that at that point was

(37:25):
the longest workstoppage in Major League Baseball history. Now, what's
interesting is the Dodgers had a significant gate lift in
their stadium, Chevezravine, which, when you contrast against the gate
seen by twenty of the Major League's twenty six teams,
as many fans around the country show their displeasure with
the labor dispute. Some stadiums lost twenty percent. The Dodgers

(37:49):
grew because of Fernando Vealezuela, but beyond just the numbers,
Valenzuela was charismatic.

Speaker 2 (37:55):
He was just this.

Speaker 3 (37:56):
Beacon of hope for people, particularly Latinos, and he'll make
the Dodger fan base one of the most ethnically diverse
anywhere in sports. Fernando hung around for seventeen years, won
one hundred and seventy three games, made six All Star teams,
and then shifted to a twenty two year run as
a Spanish language broadcaster for the Dodgers. And he was

(38:19):
a damn good one. But Fernando was more than that.
He was an ambassador for the Dodgers. He was an
ambassador for baseball, and up until his death recently, he's
clearly one of the most beloved figures in Dodgers' history.
High praise, high praise for this iconic franchise that has
all kinds of historic figures. And it's crazy that Valenzuela's

(38:42):
death was announced and came upon us just three days
before this high profile Dodgers Yankees World series, You've got
Shohe Aaron Judge, Juan Soto driving resale ticket prices like
never before. And I thought the way that Orl Hirscheizer
and Steve Jeger Hertschuser was an MVP for the eighty
eight series and yeger a catcher in eighty one, a

(39:05):
cool MVP. The way they honored Fernando Valezuela before Game
one was incredible. Fernando, as they say, will always remain
a special figure, a beloved figure in Dodger's history. According
to Rob manfred As, if he knew they'll honor Fernando's
memory during the twenty twenty fourth series at Dodgers Stadium,
and I think for the re you know, perhaps they

(39:25):
should have a thirty four patch that was his number.
Give it up to Fernando Valenzuela, rest in peace. You
are a prolific player and a great human being. Coming
out talk a little NBA keep it lock Bernie Fraddles Show. Yep,
that's right, you heard the man that Bernie Fraddle show

Be well, we do it every Saturday night at midnight
Pacific time here in the Bernie Frattle Show. And now
that the NBA season is often running and we've already
got plenty of storylines to wrap our head around three
simple words. It's that time Medina magic. Every Saturday night
midnight here on the Bernie Frattle Show. Mark Medina joins

(40:26):
us fifty two weeks out of the year. He's our
Fox Sports Radio NBA guru.

Speaker 2 (40:31):
Mark. Let me start here.

Speaker 3 (40:35):
A lot of coaches have the old adage that if
we bring our best and you bring your best, we
want to believe our best is better than your best.

Speaker 2 (40:43):
The Lakers come.

Speaker 3 (40:43):
Out of the gate three and oh they overcome a
twenty two point deficit Friday night. They have a forty
four point fourth quarter Saturday night. I believe you were
at the game, and I know Anthony Davis can be
this good.

Speaker 2 (40:57):
But are the Lakers this good? Can they sustain this?
You know what?

Speaker 7 (41:01):
I think? So assuming that you know, Lebron James anty
Davis don't have major injuries, and you can't you think
that that's not possible because Lebron's thirty nine and Antony
Davis has an injury history. But I'm a big believer
in what I've seen this week that JJ Reddick his
coaching has already made a difference. He clearly has shown

(41:22):
he's prepared for the job. He's a great play caller,
he does the work, and there's just a different kind
of shift. Obviously, Lebron James is playing at a high level,
but this is the best I've seen Anthony Davis play
with three consecutive thirty point performances, and also there's a
lot of good balance all across the board. That doesn't

(41:43):
mean they're unstoppable. They've had overcome deficits, they've had challenging opponents,
but I think that they've at least shown that, if
nothing else, they're going to be a playoff team and
they could be in the mix. Beyond that.

Speaker 3 (41:57):
I think you're spot on about the JJ Reddick dynam
what exactly is taking place there. There's a different physical
latitude about this team, at least the first three games
there's a different body language, of different energy. Can you
point your finger to anything in particular as to how
JJ Redk has gotten this to manifest itself as a practical.

Speaker 7 (42:17):
Matter, Well, I think there's a few things. One, you know,
regardless of who the canda candidate is, when there is
a coaching change, sometimes that just provides a shot in
the arm. But I think in JJ's case, he showed
that he's very qualified for the position and he's really prepared.
And where you've seen that so far, it's early, but

(42:38):
in three games, the play callings very well, it's very creative,
his rotation, he's making good use of everyone here. And
I think that you know, we dissected and scrutinized the
Lakers really not making many roster moves this past offseason,
and part of it was circumstantial, like they didn't really

(43:00):
have any choice because of the Kap limitations. But I
think that we're seeing that their selling point actually had
some legitimacy to it, that if you just invest in continuity,
you'll start getting better returns. And it also helps that
Lebron and ad are coming off that Olympic run where
they won gold or were playing absolutely dominant so you

(43:20):
combine all those ingredients together and it's been a good
mix so far.

Speaker 3 (43:27):
I feel like the addition of Dalton Connect has helped
am I wrong.

Speaker 7 (43:31):
Yeah, I mean no, you're right. He's been hitting threes.
He's in the rotation. You know a lot. Rightfully, so
is made about Lebron James gain a triple double, you know,
thirty two points, fourteen rebounds, tennisis but JJ Reddick made
it a point that at the earlier fourth quarter when
the Lakers were kind of let allowing Sacramento to get

(43:54):
back in the game, he hit a key three and
you know he's been laying it up. He went to
a I from deep four seven overall, and he is
a rookie, so you know he's going to go through
some learning curve. I think the really good thing about
Dalton Connect is he already fulfills a positional need that
the Lakers really needed help with with three point shooting.

(44:15):
And I think, in fairness to Dalton like that was
his calling card through four years in college. So from
that aspect, he's very much a plug and play player.
Now there's questions about his defense and just his overall
body of work, but he has the confidence to knock
shots down.

Speaker 3 (44:33):
Listen, his plus minus Saturday night was plus sixteen between
him and Jackson Hayes. They both got some quality minutes.
I thought, and I would just say this, I believe
in addition to JJ Reddick and clearly his cerebral, you know,
attitude that he brings to that roster, which they seem
to really resonate, which seems to resonate with the team,

(44:55):
I'm thinking he's a way above average talent evaluator.

Speaker 2 (44:58):
Am I right on that?

Speaker 7 (45:00):
You're talking about JJ Redick?

Speaker 2 (45:02):
Talking about JJ Redick?

Speaker 1 (45:03):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 7 (45:04):
I mean, look, he's a former NBA player and one
of the things that was his calling car was he's
a good shooter, and he's a very smart thinker. And
a lot of times when you're a role player, because
you don't have the same athleticism and skills that superstars have,
you have to compensate that by finding a single lane
that you can specialize in as well as outthink and

(45:25):
out work everyone. And I think that he's applied that
same concept to coaching. Obviously, this is his first go round,
but he knows the game really well and he's just
been very obsessive. He'll describe himself as a basketball sicco
and I think nothing illustrates that better than confirming a
Baron Davis tweet where he noticed that he was at

(45:48):
a local car wash in between, you know, taking his
kids to games earlier Saturday afternoon, and at the car
wash he was watching basketball film to prepare for the
Lake game against the Kings. So yeah, he is just
pouring himself into it. And while it is early, it's
an age two game season. He himself has told me

(46:09):
when I asked him about kind of challenges, he said,
managing the highs and lows. Right now, it's a high
when there's inevitable speed bumps. They'll have to get through
the lows of that. But I'm a big believer that
he is showing early signs of being a good coach.

Speaker 3 (46:25):
Let's talk about the other LA team, because if I'm
being honest, I think I have to respect their effort.
Their first two games. You talked about the impact Norman
Paul would have. You're right, thirty seven points in Denver.
They matched the Clippers matched Denver blow for Blowsouturday night,
getting a nice road wind and almost salvaging that home
opener the other night and before I get to your

(46:47):
impressions of the Intuit center, talk about the Clippers. It
feels like they could be a playoff team.

Speaker 7 (46:53):
Yeah, I mean, look again, it's early, and I'm not
naive that this is an ages two game season. They
got to get Kawhi Leonard back a healthy at some point.
When that is who knows. But when I was around
the Clippers, they were just so adamant that, yeah, we
missed Kawhi, but they're going to compete and they'll be
able to win games without Kawhi. There the reason they

(47:13):
have James Harden on the team. He was the number
one option in Houston before he wound up being in
Brooklyn and with the Clippers with trying to, you know,
sacrifice and change his role around other star talent. And
then the other thing is Tyleru is a great coach.
He's considered one of the best coaches in the NBA
because of how well he makes adjustments, how well he

(47:33):
utilizes his rotation in third. The rest of the Clippers roster,
they don't have any all stars, but when you look
at someone like Norman pal a great two way player,
viats A zubot So, great room protector, Terrence Man another
good wing player. These are good, maybe not great players,
but good players that can be competitive. Now, look when

(47:54):
I was talking to Norman Powell last week for Sports
Key to Q and A, and he was saying, look,
we're going to be fine because we have We're all
going to have elevated roles and no one knows what
we're capable of. I did have a little wait and
see approach, But I think it's not a coincidence that
Norman pal went off against Denver because he's a great
two way player. He's had experience weighing a high level

(48:16):
with the Toronto Raptors, and you know, he's someone that
really prepared this offseason from both a conditioning standpoint as
well as working with his mindfulness coach with just trying
to you know, have different meditatation sessions to get through
you know, the ups and downs of the season and
not get too high or what through that. So what

(48:37):
that means for the Clippers, I'm not going to say
they're a championship contender, but you know, I'm more of
a believer that they can be a playoff team as
opposed to the team that misses the play.

Speaker 3 (48:47):
Well, here's why I said that, And I've courver with
the NBA for many years. Tyler Loue at least the
first couple of games of doing something like an overseteen, they're.

Speaker 2 (48:54):
Going ten deep. He had nine guys Saturday night get.

Speaker 3 (48:57):
Double digit minutes, and guys like Nicholas the Toomb and
Chris Dunn and a mere Coffee. They're very serviceable NBA players,
and the minutes they put forth were qualitative minutes. So
if they're willing to go ten deep until you know
Kawhi gets back, this may almost be a blessing in
disguise that they get used to life without Kawhi.

Speaker 7 (49:20):
Yeah, and here's another thing to add about the Clippers impact.
They hired a very good assistant coach who knows a
thing or two about basketball on as coach before. His
name is Jeff Van Gundy, and we talked to the Clippers.
When he talked to the Clippers, he's been very important
with raising their defensive intensity and their schemes. As we
all know, when he was a broadcaster, he did not

(49:42):
bite his song. He told it like it is. He
you know, shared what calls he agreed with, or how
the officiating was, or which players were showing up to
play which weren't, And the Clippers say internally, that's the
same way he is in practice, and they respect him
for it because he knows what he's talking about. So yeah,
I think that the identity that the Clippers are going
to be is kind of this underdog mentality type team.

(50:05):
That's almost similar to the season when they challenged the
Golden State Warriors in the twenty eighteen playoffs the six
games as an eighth seed. Ironically, that's the season before
they got Kawhi Leonard. Different kind of players, different coach
of Doc Rivers, but they very much had this mentality that, hey,
we got a scrap fight in everything, and we're only
going to be as good as a team. And that's

(50:27):
what they've shown so far.

Speaker 3 (50:29):
Talking with Mark Medina Medina Magic every Saturday night here
on the Bronni Fratis Show at twelve midnight, all right,
let's stay on the Clippers. I understand the trainer is
suing the team regarding the Kawhi situation.

Speaker 2 (50:44):
Can you take us behind the curtain on that.

Speaker 7 (50:46):
Yeah, I mean, it's obviously in litigation, but there was
a lawsuit that was a file to an LA Superior
Corp from one of Kawhi Leonard's former trainers, suggesting that
he was let go out of kind of a retaliation
efforts in which he was expressing alarm about how the
Clippers were managing him with some treatments that he felt

(51:10):
were unsafe. Now, you obviously never know what's behind the
current except for the participants, because the Clippers released the
statement saying that all these things are absolutely false. But
I would very much keep the listeners in mind that
he was let go prior to when Kawhi Leonard agreed

(51:30):
to an extension here. And so while not naive to
think that there weren't having been frustrations from both sides
on Kauhi's availability or how things are managed, I don't
think he would have agreed to an extension last season
if he had these kinds of issues. But in fairness,
that's what the courts are here to decide on.

Speaker 3 (51:52):
So you have been to the Intuit Dom and just
looking at it on the outside looks crazy.

Speaker 2 (51:57):
It's a spaceship.

Speaker 3 (51:58):
He's got all these interesting features and modern technology. Of
course it features over a thousand toilets and urinals three
times a week average.

Speaker 2 (52:07):
Because give it up to Bomber.

Speaker 3 (52:08):
He doesn't want people waiting in line for the restroom,
and everybody can relate to that. And then they've even
got this seating section known as the Wall. Tell the folks,
what was your primary takeaway or take aways from the
Intoit Dome, because I know you've been to a lot
of arenas like I have.

Speaker 7 (52:22):
Yeah, I think Into a Dome it's really great. It's
a modern arena, has a lot of modern amenities. You
mentioned the wall. What that is is it's a section
behind one of the baskets that has seats that go
up really high on an elevated level, and it's reserved
for the Clippers cheering section of devout fans. And to

(52:43):
think of any college basketball venue for the student section,
it's almost the equivalent. And Steve Bamber constructed that with
the idea that he really want a loud environment, a
home court advantage. Sometimes you don't have that in modern
MBA arenas, especially in the cell phone era that we're in.
But you see that that Into It Dome and the

(53:03):
Clippers Sun's game. The Suns wound up winning that game,
but Kevin Durant and Devin Booker were mentioning how they
missed free throws on that basket, partly because they felt
like the fans in the wall were really loud. They thought,
you know, much respect to that amenity there. The other
cool thing about Into It Dome is they have this
gigantic board Halo bring up these so many replays, so

(53:28):
many statistical breakdown. It's almost the equivalent if you've ever
been to the New Cowboys Stadium that was that was
constructed almost a decade or so ago, with that giant
video board. Similar idea. I think with Into It Dome,
it's not as distracting. You can still see the action
on the court, but if you miss a play, there's

(53:49):
a lot of screens on that video board that where
you can see replaced from multiple different angles.

Speaker 2 (53:54):
I understand.

Speaker 3 (53:55):
It's a it's a you know, similar to that that
double salad handel.

Speaker 2 (54:00):
Try to get an English.

Speaker 3 (54:01):
That double sided halo board they have at Sofi Stadium.
You get this giant wrap around scoreboard with four K resolution?
What must that look like? How do they manage four
K resolution with something so big?

Speaker 2 (54:13):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (54:14):
I mean, look, they hired the best architects. I figured
all that out. What I'm really impressed with is that Obviously,
it takes up a lot of space, and you can
obviously see it whether you're in the upper duck or
court side. But the one thing that I will stress
to both Clipper fans that have been there or thinking
of going there, is I don't think it distracts from

(54:34):
the view of the court. It's something that supplements your
experience with viewing the game on the court as opposed
to distracting, because you know, and that's an important thing,
because if it was such a distraction, fans might think,
you know what, why am I going to show out
so much money for tickets seventy dollars for parking if
I can't even see the court. But here it's more
of an accessory, not a thing that replaces the actual

(54:56):
viewing experience.

Speaker 3 (54:59):
One last thing about into a dome, it's my understanding
they'll host the twenty twenty six All Star Game and
there'll be a venue during the twenty twenty eight Olympics,
which are coming to Los Angeles.

Speaker 2 (55:08):
Are both those things true?

Speaker 7 (55:10):
Yeah, that is true. I mean that's part of the
reason that Steep Bahmer made this arena. That he knew
that privately financing this means that he's getting all the
revenue streams. But the other thing is the Clippers wanted
to obviously ease the logistics with scheduling preferences than it
was before at Crypto dot Com Arena and Staples Center.

(55:31):
The fact that they shared, you know, the building with
the Lakers that are getting all these matinees on Saturday,
so much first building on preferential scheduling. Here they have
their own identity. But yeah, that is true. All four
weekend is going to be at Twitum. In twit Um,
it's going to be one of many venues for the
twenty twenty eight Olympics, including Crypto dot Com Arena. But

(55:53):
you know, it's just a testament that there's been a
lot of strong planning throughout this process that they knew
that this would be part of the deal.

Speaker 2 (56:00):
Wrapping it up with Mark Medina.

Speaker 3 (56:02):
Mark, after all these great NBA vibes in the first week,
we got to bring it back down to earth. There
was a nationally televised game Philadelphia against Milwaukee Wednesday night.
Of course, Paul George Missy is that's just you know, routine.
But what the hell's going on with Joel Embiid, Because
that became a more of a headline to the point

(56:25):
where in the periphery I'm seeing that the NBA is
investigating this situation a Phili the Blanks force on the
Jewel Embiid situation in Philadelphia.

Speaker 7 (56:35):
Yeah, well, basically the NBA is investigating, you know, whether
the Philadelphia seventy six ers are sitting Joel Embiid for
an actual injury. Now. I don't think that they're going
to unearth anything because Joel Embiid has had numerous injuries
in the last two seasons, including with his knee last
season that sidelined him offer a good trush during the

(56:57):
season and limited him the playoffs. But I think in
light of load management and the new NBA player participation
policy that the league implemented last season, they don't want
star players missing games, especially ones that are nationally televised.
But I think when you talk to people around Joel Embiid,

(57:17):
they say his injury is for real and they need
to manage it accordingly, and they are very strongly adamant
that the fact that that player participation policy was put
in place that almost had some unintended consequences where he
did return last season, partly in mind that if he

(57:38):
wasn't going to play a certain amount of games, the
sixty five minimum that he would be out of you know,
possible voting awards. And then when he played again, he
wound up having another injury. So the Sixers and MB
will tell you, you know, they're prioritizing health so that
he can be available in you know, games that count
in the playoffs and beyond in the regular season, not

(57:59):
the season open at the beginning. But you know, the
NBA is going to try to separate facts from friction
here and we'll see what happens.

Speaker 2 (58:07):
Mark, we're off and running.

Speaker 3 (58:08):
We'll catch you next Saturday night on my annual daylight
savings time five hour extravagance to have a good week ahead.

Speaker 7 (58:16):
Hey you too, And look all NBA and no Brawnie,
what a concept.

Speaker 3 (58:20):
Who we'll talk to you to enjoying. Man, keep up
the great work, Mark Medina Medina magic. See man, the
dude's really got his finger on the pulse.

Speaker 2 (58:32):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (58:32):
And that's why we do this. And there's this. This
could be a hell of a season. I didn't even
get into the upcoming n season Tournament two point zero
and T and.

Speaker 2 (58:42):
T's last dance and league expansion.

Speaker 3 (58:44):
Could the Celtics repeat, Yeah, maybe we'll do more of
that stuff next week coming up. You know, last year
Colorado football got a lot of love, they really didn't
deserve it. This year they deserve a lot of love.
You paid attention to this. I'm not sure they're getting it.
I think it's about time to give Dion and Colorado
their flowers as it crossed a major rubicon. Saturday night,

(59:07):
I'm Bernie fradit Wer Comedy live from the Las Vegas
Fox Sports Radio Tirack dot com studios. Don't go away,
you're listening to the Bernie Frattle Show on Fox Sports Radio.
All right, back on the Bernie Frattle Show, and coming up,
we're gonna get a full college football wrap up on
a very eventful Saturday. But if you happen to notice

(59:29):
Saturday night, right before we signed down, Colorado took down Cincinnati.
And what does that do for the Colorado Buffaloes. It
allows them to reach bull eligibility. In Dion Sander's second
season three years ago, this team was one win team.
Last year, they jumped a four all all sorts of hooplah,

(59:49):
which they may or may not have deserved, came out
of the gate This year, they beat a very game
FCS team in North Dakota State. North Dakota State could
have won that game, Colorado did win. Followed up by
getting their butt handed to him at Nebraska, and a

(01:00:10):
lot of people, including me, said they didn't improve on
the things they said they did. What happened to the
improved offensive line, defensive line, better tackling on defense, et cetera.
Well we stand correct, period. Colorado beat Cincinnati at home
thirty four to twenty three. They're now six and two.
They got four games remaining and hu hum, like, here

(01:00:32):
we go again. Shudor Sanders twenty five to thirty for
three twenty three and two touchdowns. Travis Hunter caught nine
of those passes for a buck fifty three and two touchdowns.
But I don't know if Travis Hunter is gonna win
the Heisman Trophy award. But he's the best player in
the country. That's undeniable. He makes impactful plays every week
on both sides of the ball. And the guy's got

(01:00:54):
the stamina of you know, I almost said something I
shouldn't say on the air, but along on the short
of it is this Colorado has become a very formidable
team that blocks, tackles, makes offensive plays, or makes skill
plays on both sides of the ball. And by the way,

(01:01:14):
by winning six games and making Colorado Bowl eligible, which
they haven't been only the second time since two thousand
and seven. Remember they were one and eleven two years
ago they fired their coach. That paved the way for
coach Prime Sanders earns one hundred and fifty thousand dollars
bonus and will earn one hundred grand for each additional

(01:01:35):
regular season win after that. He's you know, okay, he
makes almost six million. But look, this is even the
bigger story. Colorado is four to one in Big twelve play.
Now they're off next weekend, but then they play Texas
Tech November ninth. What if they keep winning, anything could happen, right, Well,
not anything, but look a lot is in front of them,

(01:01:58):
sinc Natty's a good team. The Colorado has been beating
some good teams, and they're making the plays that they
need to make. And the Colorado defense stoped Cincinnati on
multiple possessions when they needed to.

Speaker 2 (01:02:10):
They stuffed them on fourth at one on.

Speaker 3 (01:02:12):
The forty six thirty three seconds in the first half,
and that was turned out to be a net breaker
because Shudor Sanders takes over and they drive for a
touchdown on a thirty four yard touchdown throw to Travis Hunter.
He was wide open on the right side of the field,
and all of a sudden, this team looks very formidable.
So give it up to the Colorado Buffaloes and Dion

(01:02:34):
Sanders coming up. The rest of Week nine takeaways, there
were a lot. There were some impactful games. This is
really fun now because what this new twelve team playoff
has created is melodrama every week.

Speaker 2 (01:02:50):
There's added pressure. People had it wrong.

Speaker 3 (01:02:52):
People thought some would you know, some people thought that
the regular season would lose its intensity due to the
expanded playoff because one loss used to be essentially season ending.
But the truth of the matter is it's keeping more
teams in the postseason conversation later into the season. We're
almost in November, and by the way, there's so much
more to play for to.

Speaker 2 (01:03:13):
Just getting a bid.

Speaker 3 (01:03:14):
You might want, you know, you're striving to maybe get
a first round game on your own campus, or striving
to get a buy in the first round or both.
Plus the Group of five conference is going to be
more dramatic than ever, because the highest ranking conference champion
will earn a guaranteed big meaning. If you witnessed what
took place Friday night here in Las Vegas, forty two

(01:03:36):
thousand people attended a UNLV game against Boise State at
a Leegiant stadium. That breaks the previous record by ten
thousand under this new playoff format, I believe that contributed
to that. To that a lot sure wouldn't have happened
last year with the made for TV, you know four Invitational,
or certainly the BCS before that. So as we wrap

(01:03:58):
up Week nine, we'll talk about the most important developments
from Saturday's action and will kind of take a look
at their significance moving forward. But first we go back
to our guy, Kevin Wyre at the chef with the Leaves.

Speaker 8 (01:04:09):
Major League Baseball World Series Game two. It's the Dodgers
taking this one against the Yankees.

Speaker 9 (01:04:15):
Lavino a right handed hitter, Vessia fires his first pitch,
Gravinho hits a high fly ball left.

Speaker 10 (01:04:23):
Field playaball for Tommy Edmond who calls for it. Been
that fo in parlay and that's a two nothing world
serious lead.

Speaker 8 (01:04:34):
That was Steven Nelson on FSR affiliate Klee C and
the Dodgers Radio Network. The Dodgers getting home runs from
Tommy edmund Ti, Oscar Hernandez, and Freddy Freeman to back
a strong start from Yoshinobo Yamamoto. He went six and
the third only allowed one hit. It was a home
run to Juan Soda, but otherwise allowed only one hit,
struck out four, walk two in at six and a

(01:04:55):
third innings as La takes a two to nothing lead
in this best of seven series. But scary moment for
Los Angeles as shoey Otani appearing to injure his shoulder
as he dove into second base on a stolen base attempt,
and Dave Roberts did have an update on it after
the game.

Speaker 11 (01:05:14):
He had a little left shoulder subliction. So we're gonna
get some tests at some point tonight tomorrow, and then
we'll know more in the.

Speaker 2 (01:05:23):
Next couple of days.

Speaker 11 (01:05:24):
But the strength was great, the range of motion good,
so we're encouraged.

Speaker 8 (01:05:30):
Game of three of the World Series will take place
Monday evening over in New York. College football on Saturday,
huge matchup into the SEC Number fourteen Texas A and
M stays undefeated in conference play five and Oher now
in SEC Play seven and one overall after they beat
LSU thirty eight to twenty three, so they're lost to

(01:05:52):
Notre Dame and open the season as seems like a
distant memory. Number six Miami's still undefeated eight no. The
Hurricanes now thirty six fourteen. They beat Florida State and
Man the seminals of really falling upon hard at times
after narrowly missing the fourteen playoff last year. After going
undefeated in the regular season, they're now just one and seven,

(01:06:12):
including one in six in SEC play. Number five Texas
against three touchdown passes from Queenna Eewers as they get
by number twenty five Vanderbilt twenty seven to twenty four,
fourth ranked Ohio State twenty one seventeen winners against Nebraska
Number three Penn State goes on the road to beat
Wisconsin twenty eight thirteen and number one Oregon. An easy

(01:06:32):
win at home against number twenty Illinois thirty eight to nine,
Number eleven b YU thirty seven to twenty four winners
at UCF number twelve Notre Dame, a dominating performance against
number twenty four Navy fifty one to fourteen. Number thirteen
Indiana thirty one seventeen winners against Washington. Fifteenth ranked Alabama
shuts out Number twenty one Missouri thirty four to nothing,

(01:06:54):
Number sixteen Kansas State. They trailed much of their rivalry
game against Kansas, but the Wildcats pull it off late
twenty nine to twenty seven. Number eighteen Ole miss twenty
six to fourteen winners against Oklahoma and number twenty two
SMU needs overtime, but they do beat Duke twenty eight
twenty seven.

Speaker 1 (01:07:09):
Back to you, Bernie all.

Speaker 2 (01:07:11):
Right, Jeff.

Speaker 3 (01:07:13):
Penn State Wisconsin was a game that drew a lot
of attention Saturday, and make no mistake if you watch
the game, Penn State was in trouble at the half.

Speaker 2 (01:07:23):
In Wisconsin, they.

Speaker 3 (01:07:25):
Trailed ten to seven, and their star quarterback, in case
you can call them a star, he's pretty good player,
Drew Aller. They at that point knew they would be
without him for the rest of the game drama. So
the offense was forced to punt in its first two
series under bol Prabulah. All Wisconsin had to do at

(01:07:45):
that point was don't.

Speaker 2 (01:07:47):
Screw it up.

Speaker 3 (01:07:47):
Just avoid the devastating error, and all of a sudden,
Wisconsin would be in prime position to pull off a
major upset that could shake up the Big ten standings,
and then just like that, a shocking interception from Brandon
Locke throws it throws it right to Jalen Reed, a
dB for Penn State wide open backbreaking pick six. He

(01:08:11):
ran it in for I don't know for fifteen twenty yards.
It completely sucked all the energy out of Madison, Wisconsin
in Camp Randall Stadium. Unreal. Then after that, bull Per
bull Is settled in nicely. He's the backup quarterback for
Penn State, had two drives, he led Penn State to
two more touchdowns, actually showed some very nice crisp passing,

(01:08:34):
took off and ran a few times, and all of
a sudden he had command of the position. Penn State
secures the win, and now they'll look to Drew Aller's health.
Had a next week's blockbuster with Ohio State. But can
you imagine had Penn State lost Saturday at Camp Randall
and then head to Ohio State where I think Penn
State got him in a freak a rainstorm game back

(01:08:55):
in twenty sixteen.

Speaker 2 (01:08:55):
But for the most part, for.

Speaker 3 (01:08:58):
The last several years, Penn State could beat anybody not
named Michigan or Ohio State. It killed their season every year,
so had Penn State. I know, okay, fifts and butts
for candy and nuts, But if Penn State hadn't lost Saturday,
it would have made the Ohio State game that much bigger.
And had they lost that, I think you would have
certainly waved goodbye to their playoff chances.

Speaker 2 (01:09:19):
You would have, but they didn't.

Speaker 3 (01:09:20):
But that's what made Saturday's game so impactful at Wisconsin
and the Events because now it sets up a real
matchup against Ohio State, and now Ohio State's the one
that can't afford to losses, so that will be a
barn burner. And next weekend, I'm wondering if anybody at
Texas A and M missus Jimbo Fisher, I'm gonna guess

(01:09:43):
probably not. Mike Helco took over. He was a hell
of a coach at Duke last year, and by the way,
he'd been there at Texas A and M before. Is
the ROC or DC and the long and the short
of it is, it seems like eons ago now that
they lost to Notre Dame in at home during Labor

(01:10:03):
Day weekend, and since then Texas A and M has
done nothing, But when they locked horns with Brian Kelly's
LSU teams, it just seems frenetic.

Speaker 2 (01:10:14):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:10:15):
Brian Kelly has had a tremendous career in college football.
Started out a Grand Valley state one hundred years ago,
went to Central Michigan, Cincinnati, ended up at Notre Dame,
one everywhere, really, even got to a couple of national
championship games at Notre Dame and proceeded to get blown out.
Not necessarily his fault. You can only recruit to a
certain level. There's a great institution. But in this day

(01:10:37):
and age, you know where I'm going with that. But
now at Texas A and M, Mike Helco and of
course same with Brian Kelly at LSU would seemingly have
unlimited resources. All right, Well, Texas A and M trailed
seventeen to seven. But the truth of the matter is
that's when Elko's teams are at their best, when they
got to bowl their neck and they did everything they

(01:11:00):
needed to do, and and you know, the starting quarterback,
Connor Wegman, struggled mightily in the opening half, and so
Elko turned to you know, Marcell Reid a backup quarterback.
It's the kind of decision coaches make. You saw Nick
Saban do it in the National Championship game years ago
when he went from Jalen Hurts to to Atagovaloa. These

(01:11:23):
are not easy decisions. You know you heard Aaron Boone.
Would I move Aaron Judge down? No, he didn't have
the balls to do it. Maybe he should do it.
Story for a different day. But Marcell Reid showed he
might be the main man of quarterback going forward. He's
a dual threat guy. He kept LSU guessing. He added
a feature of this new explosive run game. And what

(01:11:44):
does this mean now? Why was this so important? Not Alabama,
not Georgia, not LSU, not Mississippi. Texas A and M
is the not Texas. Texas A and M is the
only undefeated team in SEC play. It also means now
that this season finale against Texas could serve as the

(01:12:08):
playing game for the conference title matchup, and also, by
the way, that will double as the first battle between
these two programs since Texas A and M moved to
the SEC twelve years ago. Again, this new playoff format
is so good for college football coming up, I'm gonna

(01:12:28):
give you more evidence. I'm gonna talk about Indiana, I'm
gonna talk about Ohio State, I'm gonna talk about Oregon.

Speaker 2 (01:12:35):
Let's talk about BYU.

Speaker 3 (01:12:37):
They all deserve their day in the sun and the
significance going forward based on this new college football playoff format.
I'm Bernie Fraddle. We are company line from the Las
Vegas Fox Sports Radio tire Act dot Com studios here
in Las Vegas.

Speaker 2 (01:12:52):
Keep it lock. It's Bernie Frattle Show, Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (01:12:56):
All right, back on the Bernie Frattle Show, Fox Sports Radio.
Continue with the key takeaways Saturday's Week nine in college football,
of which there were many. Mike Elkole rolls, the dice
comes up, a big winner finds himself a quarterback. Penn
State survives. How about Indiana? So when Kurt Signetti started

(01:13:17):
as Indiana tenure by grabbing the microphone and spitting fire,
he didn't just say Produce suck, Michigan dust Oile State sucks.
I don't take a backseat to anybody.

Speaker 2 (01:13:28):
I win. Google it. We did. The man ain't lyon.

Speaker 3 (01:13:33):
You know, there's actually a university in Pennsylvania called Indiana
University of Pennsylvania, where Signetti started his head coaching career.
And I know about that school because former Tiger Third
Basement of the eighty four world champion Tigers, Tom Brookins
went there. He was fifty three and seventeen as the
head coach there in six years.

Speaker 2 (01:13:52):
We googled it. He won.

Speaker 3 (01:13:54):
Spent two years at Elon University he was fourteen and nine.
That got in the gig at James Madison where he
spent five five quality years. First year he was fourteen
and two. In the COVID year he was seven to one,
twelve and two, eight and three, eleven, fifty two and nine,
and now he's eight to zero at Indiana. Added up

(01:14:17):
Kurt Signetti, google it does he win one hundred and
twenty five wins and thirty five losses? As Reggie Jackson
once said, it ain't bragging if you can do it.
He got the crowd roaring that day, got the crowd
into a frenzy. All right, Well, no one's going to
argue of his success now, and no one's going to

(01:14:39):
argue that he's got the same talent as say, Ohio State.
But one could argue that if the two swap schedules
It's entirely possible Indiana might have lost at Oregon, then
the Buckeyes might be undefeated. However, Indiana went into Saturday game.

(01:15:00):
It's a five and a half point favorite against a
good Washing team, a very good Washing team, team with
a backup quarterback by the name of Tavan Jackson.

Speaker 2 (01:15:07):
Eighty nine. I know the books got killed in that game.
Eighty nine percent of the action was on Indiana.

Speaker 3 (01:15:13):
Indiana not only won, they win by fourteen points, they
won thirty one to seventeen with their backup quarterback, Tavan
Jackson's look pretty good to me. What does that mean?
Indiana is now eight to zero for the first time
the first time, the first time since the year before
Richard Nixon was elected president nineteen sixty seven. And it's

(01:15:35):
not just that.

Speaker 2 (01:15:36):
There's more.

Speaker 3 (01:15:37):
All eight wins have come by a margin of at
least two touchdowns.

Speaker 2 (01:15:42):
Indiana has scored at least thirty points in every game
this season.

Speaker 3 (01:15:45):
Ohio State can't say that. Not After the Nebraska game,
Indiana will now take on the State of Michigan. They
visit East Lansing, and they'll have a home date against
the Wolverines. I believe Michigan Wolverines next Saturday, leave November second.
Then it's a bye week that'll be followed up by
the biggest contests of the year, a road trip to

(01:16:07):
face the Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus on November twenty third. Now,
at that point we'll find out if Signetti.

Speaker 2 (01:16:16):
Was I say this in their quotes Lyon, I love
the dude. Man.

Speaker 3 (01:16:21):
He'll have to prove whether Ohio State truly sucks. But
by judging our things have gone this year, don't be
surprised if that's not one of the big games of
the year in the Big Ten, or the game of
the year into Big Ten, why not. I do expect
them to take care of business against Michigan State. And
Michigan if.

Speaker 2 (01:16:36):
You've watch if you've actually watched Indiana play, they're very good.

Speaker 3 (01:16:40):
Okay, And by the way, one of the things Ohio
State might want to do, you know, by their own
coaches admission, Ryan Day he was talking about his offensive line.
He said, it's not good enough. We got to be
able to run the ball. We didn't do that today.
That's why we put the defense in bad spots. That's
why we've Ohio State was one for ten and third
down conversions. Now, Ohio State had that loss to Oregon.

(01:17:05):
Some people call it a good loss. You know how
I feel about that type of phraseology.

Speaker 2 (01:17:09):
That's stupid.

Speaker 3 (01:17:10):
There's no such thing as a good loss. It's like
a good kidney stone. But in that loss to Oregon,
Traveon Henderson busted off a fifty three yard run. Unfortunately
for the buck Eyes Henderson, Quinn, Shawn Jenkins, and Will Howard,
they haven't had exactly a lot of daylight to run
into in the last few weeks. Aside from that fifty

(01:17:31):
three yard run Ohio State's rushing attack, they've run the
ball sixty three times for just one hundred and thirty
or checked out one hundred and seventy four yards in
the past two games. Are you kiddy b o thee o'hat?
The Ohio State University averaging two point seven yards per
run on the ground. What happened to Chip Kelly's offense

(01:17:51):
the first three games they were averaging six yards to
carry well. Part of the issue is injuries to Ohio
State's offensive line, But you can't really use injuries as
you head into November. Show me a team in the
country that doesn't have injuries, especially a team that's competing.
Penn State lost their quarterback, Indiana lost their quarterback. Ohio

(01:18:13):
State seriously needs to get this fixed. They have to
fix their run game because guess who's on deck. Penn
State and Penn State actually has the nation's fourteenth ranked
rushing defense. Ohio State and Penn State next week, and
believe me, we'll be talking about that game. Finally, Oregon

(01:18:34):
making the voters look smart. They rewarded Alabama for its
Week four win over Georgia with the number one ranking.
The Crimson Tide promptly lost. Texas got the number one ranking.
They promptly get lose to Georgia. Next up, Oregon, safe
to say, Oregon say we're not going down. Oregon's beaten
Purdue in Illinois by a combined seventy three to nine margin.

(01:18:56):
By the way, Illinois is a good team. Oregon took
them apart. Texas, they were laying eight and a half
against Vandy. They didn't cover, but they won at Diego Pavia,
I'm telling you he's the real deal. Sixteen out of
twenty two touchdown passes, zero interception for finally, put some
respect on Byuh's name. The eight no, and they are
very good BA who's physical. They beat up an average

(01:19:19):
UCF team thirty four to ten in uc IT. But
I know people who thought who thought that BYU might
be in trouble there. And finally Notre Dame won again.
But I'm not sure sure if they're going to make
the playoff coming up, let's get into the NFL.

Speaker 2 (01:19:30):
Keep it locked.

Speaker 3 (01:19:31):

off in the NFL. Well it resumes Thursday night. The
Rams took care of business against the Vikings. No Boys
this week, full slate and one of the games that

(01:20:14):
should be front and center for one particular reason. In
a sense, I'm burying the lead. But I'm gonna get
to it. Is the Miami Dolphins hosting the Arizona Cardinals.
Dolphins are two and four, They're trying to salvage their season.
They're a three and a half point favorite. Arizona is
riding high. They beat the Chargers Monday night, and there's

(01:20:38):
sort of this renewed enthusiasm in Arizona to see if
they can do it two times in a row, because
since Week four they win one, lose one, win one.

Speaker 2 (01:20:47):
Lose one.

Speaker 3 (01:20:47):
You get the drift, right, So they would like some
stability in the win column. But they've got injuries like
everybody else, and Arizona could, in theory, be in for
a long day because Miami does have a pretty dynamic
receiving duel of Tyreek Hill and Jalen Waddle. And again

(01:21:08):
I buried the lead. The real storyline to watch is
Tua Tagovoloa will be back on the field for Sunday's
game in Miami, and it should provide an immediate spark
to what has been the NFL's worst scoring offense. But
with two at the helm in twenty twenty three, the
Dolphins were the league's best scoring offense, and Tyreek Hill

(01:21:33):
is pretty fired up. He was quoted as saying, Hey,
the band is back together, and he started to tell
fantasy owners, you better start me this week. Well, so
there are at least expectations now the Dolphins and the
Cardinals should get after it because they're the only teams
in the National Football even though they're combined two and

(01:21:54):
four and three and four, to have one at least
one or more games more games than one while trailing
at the start of the fourth quarter. So this could
be a barn burner, This could be you know, thirty
one twenty eight type game. Cardinals have one of the
worst defenses in the NFL that ranked twenty ninth.

Speaker 2 (01:22:14):
And EPA per play Dolphins with Tua back, I have.

Speaker 3 (01:22:18):
The numbers, but rather than give you the numbers on
the air, which compare the amount of points, the amount
of yards first of all that kind of stuff that
the Dolphins had without two versus when they have to
suffice it to say, you already know it's dramatically better.
But let's talk about to a tago a low the
human being, to a tago a loa the football player.

(01:22:41):
The Dolphins really frankly got some welcome news Friday. Their
coach Mike McDaniel toll reporters Friday that Tua had in
fact cleared concussion protocol and he will definitely start in
Sunday's game against Arizona. Later on today, the Dolphins went
on to confirm that two was cleared by an independent

(01:23:02):
neurologist and that the quarterback consulted with multiple experts, multiple doctors,
and not one of them recommended that to will retire.
And by the way, Tua has said this past week
that he hasn't had symptoms for weeks at all, so
you know this was not some overnight, fly by night process.

(01:23:25):
The NFL has a pretty stringent five step return in
the participation protocol, including examinations and clearances by independent teams
by independent neurological consultants, and that's exactly what Tua did.

Speaker 2 (01:23:41):
Now.

Speaker 3 (01:23:42):
If you recall again, it seems like a while ago.
It was back in week two to a gout his
most recent concussion, and what looked like basically a routine
tackle in week two, ironically at the hands of DeMar Hamlin.
It is kind of bent, funny, and he had that
odd control or with his hand, which really is it was,

(01:24:04):
which frankly is really kind of a bothersome visual and
it was, at least to the best of our knowledge,
the third concussion of his NFL career, and he also
suffered one in college at Alabama. So after that, obviously
all the want to be doctors and players who want

(01:24:24):
a grandstand took to Twitter and begged to her to retire.
And you know, I was a little bit more thoughtful
about it. If it's, first of all, it's his job,
it's his life. You can't tell people what to do
on that. But the larger issue is this, Tua made
it the entire year in twenty seventeen because he knew
how to fall properly. And Steve Young used to say,
there's always an escape if you just pay attention. And

(01:24:46):
Tua had a lapse and he kind of fell forward
with his head forward and hit DeMar Hamlin awkwardly, and
that led to a concussion. And because Tua has had
so many and his seemed to be more dramatic with
that contortion in his hand, and two was so likable.

Speaker 2 (01:25:04):
Uh, you know, there was.

Speaker 3 (01:25:06):
A throng of X players, current players saying maybe they
should maybe he should hang it up. You know, there
were many prominent members of the NFL community that urged
him to retire, but two, in very dignified form but
very firm fashion, said, quote that was never a consideration,

(01:25:27):
and he told reporters this past week he's been completely
symptom free since the day after he suffered his week
to concussion. And then he went on to give some
some very stern, very strong comments and why he chose
not to retire, and he basically said, look, I appreciate
your concern, I really do. But I love this game
and I love it to death.

Speaker 2 (01:25:47):
That's it. Period.

Speaker 3 (01:25:50):
Then, of course, the obvious questions tool was asked how
much risk he is taking by continuing his playing career,
and then he responded with kind of a curt response.
He said, look, anybody who drives to work takes a
risk and said he's quote willing to play the odds.
And by the way, you know those guardian caps you

(01:26:11):
see NFL players wearing in training camp, Tua said he
will not be wearing a guardian cap and you rarely
see them. You rarely see NFL players wear them. But coincidentally,
the Dolphins and they're running back to Vona Shane he
wore one Sunday when he returned from a concussion, but
Tua said it's his personal choice and he's not going

(01:26:32):
to do it.

Speaker 2 (01:26:33):
He said, Nope, it's my personal choice. You just got
to be smart. That's it.

Speaker 3 (01:26:36):
You gotta be smart. My entire playing foot my entire
time playing football, I've been a competitor and that is
or was sort on my edge. When I would run
from high school college, I would do the same thing.
It's a professional setting. This is a professional level, the
best of the best. You know, you just can't be
doing this. So you definitely got to stay more available
for the team, for the organization, for the guys.

Speaker 2 (01:26:59):
Now.

Speaker 3 (01:26:59):
Some people deemed to his responses as defiant, which is
understandable since so many people have lined up against him
to tell him what to do with his life. But
he says he's been symptom free since September thirteenth, the
day after the concussion. And on the flip side of
the coin, let's be honest. The Dolphins definitely they did

(01:27:19):
did desperately need to a back, and it became more evident.
I mean they had had Tim Boyle, and I told
you about his college numbers, the miracle he's in the NFL,
but he is. He made a brutal mistake at the
end of Sunday's loss to Indianapolis, and so Miami should
be markedly better.

Speaker 2 (01:27:36):
And my gut tells me this that.

Speaker 3 (01:27:38):
If Tua just simply if he just simply reverts to
the avoidance measures he used after taking martial arts, he
made it the entire seventeen game season in twenty twenty
three without a single concussion, And it's a matter of
him recognizing what's taking.

Speaker 2 (01:28:00):
Place in what's the same way Steve.

Speaker 3 (01:28:02):
Young does it, the way Patrick Mahomes does it. Plenty
of quarterbacks managed to avoid that contact, and he did
for an entire season of twenty twenty three.

Speaker 2 (01:28:11):
So if he can revert back to that, well, it's
reasonable to believe there's a good chance he can play
the remainder of the season. The Dolphins have eleven games left.

Speaker 3 (01:28:24):
Without having another concussion. We shall see. We shall see.
One thing that's undeniable. The Dolphins have been completely abysmal
on defense since Tua went down, which is the reason
they're two and four. Here's what's also interesting. You know,
you don't really panic til you get that seventh loss
in the NFL. If Tua can return to the form

(01:28:46):
he had last year, presiding over what was a very
prolific offense, the best offense in the NFL. The Miami
Dolphins are not out of this thing. They can find
their way into the new expanded playoff format. If the
Dolphins score less than twenty seven points Thill Sunday against

(01:29:07):
his Mora Bond Arizona defense, that might be a red flag.
Be as it may, that entire cacophony of facts, figures, opinions,
and toua quotes that led to this decision. I still
bet some folks out there think he's crazy for coming back.

(01:29:27):
I'm not sure how my crew feels about it, But
coming up, we're going to ask them, do you think
it's a good idea for two to come back?

Speaker 2 (01:29:33):
Do you think he's going to be okay? Or are
the odds you think he gets a concussion again? Is
he going to help the offense? We'll just get their
their thoughts coming up, Let's see what they've got to say.

Speaker 3 (01:29:43):

crazy for coming back. You think he'll be okay? Are
you worried about him? You think he'll be effective as
a Dolphins passer. We're gonna find out in a few
hours here. However, let's get the cruise thoughts. I'm Bernie

(01:30:27):
Fraddlewick coming to your line from the Las Vegas Fox
Sports Radio tarat dot com studios. Keep it locked right here.
You're listening to the Bernie Frattle Show on Fox Sports Radio.
We're back at the Bernie fraddle Show, Fox Sports Radio.
Come to your line from the tarat dot com studios
here in Las Vegas. Oh yeah, we're forty minutes away
from the Dance Sensation sweep of the national kind of
brand new fool You followed by what my name? And

(01:30:50):
before we dive back into some Week eight matchups, I'm
also going to get into some NFL teams trending upward
and trending downward. But first I want to talk about
Tua interesting. I got a I got a tweet from Soggy.
He said, Bernie, you accept to his assertion that he's

(01:31:12):
been symptom free since right after his concussion?

Speaker 2 (01:31:15):
What kind of brand new fool are you? Yeah? I
do accept it. What I call to a liar.

Speaker 3 (01:31:19):
I think he's a solid citizen. We have no idea,
but I accept his assertion. But to the larger point,
there are a lot of people lining up. You know,
it's almost insisting that he not come back, and he said, no,
I'm coming back. So chef, let's start with you. Are
you glad to his back? Do you think he's making

(01:31:41):
a mistake? Do you think he's going to be okay?
You think it'd be effective again? And you know we're
not going to try to predict this, it's unpredictable. But
do you think it's likely that he gets another concussion?

Speaker 8 (01:31:53):
Well, based on my rudimentary knowledge of concussions, I mean,
it seems like it's a lot more easier to get
the more you get them. So I am worried about
I am worried about him and his health going forward. Now,
it is his life. He can choose to live however
he decides to. But it doesn't mean that I'm not
worried that his next big hit to the head could

(01:32:16):
cause Do.

Speaker 2 (01:32:17):
You think he's making the right decision coming back or not?

Speaker 8 (01:32:20):
Personally with it? I mean, he's already made his millions.
I personally would walk away if it were me.

Speaker 3 (01:32:26):
Okay, fair enough, So you don't think he should be
doing this? Continue on you think it could be effective,
and you continue on with the reason.

Speaker 8 (01:32:31):
I think he can be effective, and I think that
he can go on and have a solid career, But
just the risk is just too great when you're talking
about life after football. That's just how I see things.
But again, it's his life, it's his career. He could
choose however he wants to risk it. So I have
no problem with him coming back, but I will watch.

(01:32:55):
I will take a bit of a breath when he
takes a hit, because that is something that does concern me.

Speaker 3 (01:33:00):
All right, Because you bring up a couple of good points.
The first one, obviously, I do think there is some
merit to the assertion that once you've had a couple
of concussions and we believe two has had four and
it's going back to Alabama, you more susceptible to get
him again.

Speaker 2 (01:33:16):
That's number one.

Speaker 3 (01:33:17):
The other thing is that maybe you really don't think
this is such a good idea. He's made his money,
he's been in the league a few years, and perhaps
the risk reward. I like that you lay it out
that way, the risk reward is such that perhaps it
might not be worth it. Shay, you can answer all
those questions.

Speaker 2 (01:33:36):
Where do you want to go with this?

Speaker 6 (01:33:39):
I mean, yeah, my fantasy team would love for him
to come back and play, But I mean, just as me,
I would not want to see him back playing.

Speaker 3 (01:33:48):
Folks, you think because you guys are two for two,
you think he's making a mistake coming back. Yeah, or
maybe I'll be to put it that way shape, but
say the way you want to say it, just like.

Speaker 6 (01:33:57):
As a person, as like as someone that I feel
like has any type of heart, you don't really want
to see someone that's just been hit so many times
do the same thing. It's like getting shot in the
head and going back and being like I'm gonna I'm
gonna do this, letna do this again, and it's.

Speaker 2 (01:34:12):
Yeah, we don't know a lot about the brain. That's
the thing.

Speaker 6 (01:34:14):
Go ahead, exactly, That's what I'm saying. We don't know
much about the brain, so I obviously it's not you
can't compare it to getting shot in the head. But
I I just think it's something that's it's it's pretty
dumb to go back and do it.

Speaker 3 (01:34:27):
But again, okay, I appreciate your firmness. You think he's
going to have success.

Speaker 6 (01:34:31):
Though I do think he's Again, like my fantasy team
would be very happy because I do think he'd be
I'm Tyreek, I'm starting Tyreeks.

Speaker 2 (01:34:39):
Oh there you go. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:34:41):
I think the connection between him and Tyreek and and
for the Dolphin's sake that they do need to start him.
But I don't think for his sake. And again it's
it's not just football, that's life, and you got a
lot more in life than just football. And I don't
know if he has realized that yet. Maybe he's kind
of just because once when you're an athlete, the heads.

Speaker 3 (01:35:00):
Basic warrior man war thinking in that mode exactly. And
remember what I said that he he made it through
all the twenty twenty three seventeen games with a certain
methodology he used and he was able to avoid it.
And I think he had a lapse Week two, he
lunched forward, led with his head, tried to get an
extra yard. And I think I wouldn't say I would

(01:35:23):
use the word complacency, but I think based on his
actions and how they were completely different from what he
did in twenty twenty three, in a sense, this one
he brought upon himself. It wasn't something like some devastating
blindside hit or he took off with a runner and
had helmet to helme in contact.

Speaker 2 (01:35:40):
This was just you go back and watch. It was
a little odd in the way it played out. Again,
I don't know how to pose this question without a
coming out wrong. And Chef brought up a point.

Speaker 3 (01:35:53):
You know, once you've had once you've had concussions, you
might be more susceptible to get them again. Do you
think Tua can make it through the rest of this
season concussion free or what are the odds? He said,
He's gonna bet the odds do it.

Speaker 2 (01:36:05):
That's what he said.

Speaker 6 (01:36:06):
What do you think, Shay, that he that he gets
to the season without a concussion? Yes, oh god, I
think it's fifty to fifty.

Speaker 2 (01:36:13):
Honest, that's about as well as you get.

Speaker 6 (01:36:15):
It's like, yeah, every year.

Speaker 2 (01:36:16):
And here's the thing, guys, here's the thing.

Speaker 3 (01:36:18):
Because there are three teams that are really trending down badly,
and the Dolphins are if they didn't get to a back,
they're about to be a fourth. That's just the reality
of the NFL. Look at the Jets with Aaron Rodgers.
Come on, man, that's a walking dumpster fire right now.
And I don't know what They've not only went into

(01:36:38):
Pittsburgh as a short favorite, not only lost, they lost
thirty seven to fifteen. Rogers turns forty one in December.
He's under contract for one more season, but a lot
of NFL insiders think this is gonna be it for
him this year, and his play and his chemistry with
his teammates has been completely Iraq and Robert Salas gone

(01:36:59):
down right. Everything Aaron wants Aaron gets, he gets Davante Adams,
which to me is completely worthless. Move is if Davante
Adams is going to be the difference maker when this
is a team that can't block, they can't protect Aaron Rodgers,
they don't run the ball well, and they got Bryce Hall.
Devonte Adams comes in with these high hopes, didn't have

(01:37:21):
a reception in the second half against Pittsburgh last week,
he had three catches for thirty yards. Now the Jets
have all of a sudden lost four straight. They better
clean things up quickly. They're a seven point favorite in
New England Sunday and New England's one and six, and
god forbid the Jets lose that game. The Jets have
been a case study of what happens when you superficially

(01:37:43):
try to put together some fantasy team at the hands
of a guy who wants to go on dark retreats
in Ayahuasca and go in Egypt.

Speaker 2 (01:37:50):
This is an.

Speaker 3 (01:37:51):
Undisciplined roster, and even though Robert sala is gone now,
those issues appear to linger at The Dolphins want to
be the Jets. They're hoping to a They're hoping Tua
can help rectify that situation. How about the Cleveland Browns.
DeShawn Watson's fully guaranteed contract has been beyond an albatross,
not because of the baggage he brought with him, not

(01:38:12):
because of the way the fans have reacted, but because
he didn't do anything.

Speaker 2 (01:38:16):
He's a shot fighter. Now he's gone.

Speaker 3 (01:38:18):
Now Cleveland, with all these high hopes and what had
been a very good roster, a roster with expectations with veterans,
strong defense at least at home, they're staring down basically
a situation where obviously they're not going to have Watson
for the rest of this season. I doubt he'd be
fully healthy for the start of next season. And do
you even want to Shawn Watson back? So, if you're Miami,

(01:38:40):
you're looking at the Jets. They built their world around
Aaron Rodgers. It's not working. The Browns built their world
around Deshaun Watson. It's not working. And even if DeShawn
Watson was working, the Browns need to develop a plan
for their future because it's become clear he's not long
for this world. Watson's not long for this world. The

(01:39:00):
Browns still owe him ninety two million in base salary
in twenty five and twenty six, and the potential debt
cap hit for a release is comical because that would
be even higher. Now the Browns are looking like a
team that is going to be a top three, top four,
top five pick, and if this keeps up, they might
be the first overall pick in the twenty twenty five draft,
and that this point, unfortunately for them, selecting a quarterback

(01:39:24):
is probably going to be the priority. Why they let
Joe Flacco go is beyond me after what he did
last year. Cleveland made the playoffs last year? Did you
forget either way? Watson presents a sinking ship situation there
that's going to set the team back for years. That's
why I believe Miami is so happy to get to

(01:39:44):
a back. Look at the Jets with Rogers, look at
the Browns with Deshaun Watson. By the way, Atlanta not
only brings in one quarterback, they bring in two. But
even though Atlanta heads in into a headed into last
Sunday on a three game winning streak, and they faced

(01:40:04):
a Seahawks team, which is not a great team, on
a three game losing streak, And even though the Falcons
had some decent offense, and even though they were eight
and fifteen on third down, they were horrendous in situational football.
With ten seconds to go in the first half, on
third and fifteen, the Falcons let the Seahawks their quarterback

(01:40:25):
Gino Smith, who they said wrote off but he ain't
right back step into the pocket, throws a thirty one
yard touchdown to DK Metcalf. That kind of lapse is
the kind of thing that keeps.

Speaker 2 (01:40:34):
Atlanta out of the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (01:40:36):
All three giveaways that Atlanta had last week were in
the fourth quarter, devastating. What was a fumble for a
touchdown a fumble return to The Falcons are another team
that has a lot of talent. They don't have a
pass rush, they're nowhere near being serious contenders, and they
just broke the bank to get Kirk Cousins and they
draft Michael Pennix, who's carrying a clipboard.

Speaker 2 (01:40:58):
They got two quarterbacks. You don't want to be trending
down like the Jets, Browns or Falcons. You want to
be trending up.

Speaker 3 (01:41:06):
And that's exactly why I think Frankly, a lot of
people are happy, and certainly we wish him the best
Toatagolo is back under center Sunday in Miami. Now, those
are the downtrodden teams. Let's look at the teams that
are trending up, and there's a few, and they're the
obvious ones. We'll talk about that coming up. But first
back for another award winning performance. The chef, Kevin Wired

(01:41:31):
chef that's a new one. I think you broke a
new one out there.

Speaker 1 (01:41:36):
Once or twice.

Speaker 8 (01:41:37):
But yes, I'd like to break out some of the
older ones to kind of keep things fresh for everyone.

Speaker 2 (01:41:44):
There you go.

Speaker 3 (01:41:44):
Yes, an interesting diconomy there, bring out the old ones
to keep things.

Speaker 2 (01:41:48):
From Yes, I see what you meant, yes, chef.

Speaker 8 (01:41:51):
Yeah, anyway, it is a fresh world series at least
that we're two games and Dodgers and Yankees and LA
takes game number two four to two as they get
home runs each from Tommy edmund Ti, Oscar Hernandez and
Freddie Freeman to back an outstanding start by Yoshinoba Yamamotos
six and the third innings allowed just one base hit

(01:42:13):
it was a home run to Juan Soda, but otherwise
did not give up a hit. Also struck out for
walked too to help give the Doctors a victory. But
again a scary situation as shoe a Otani sliding into
second base on a stolen base attempt appeared to injure
his shoulder, and it looked like it could have been
a lot worse, but Dave Roberts at least sounds optimistic he.

Speaker 11 (01:42:36):
Had a little left shoulder subliction, so we're gonna get
some tests at some point tonight tomorrow, and then we'll
know more in the next couple of days. But the
strength was great, the range of motion good, so we're encouraged.

Speaker 8 (01:42:52):
Game three of the World Series will take place Monday
evening over in New York. College football full slit of
action on Saturday. Top team in the country, the Oregon Ducks,
had another easy time of it against Illinois twenty Illinois
as the Ducks win at thirty eight to nine. Dylan
Gabriel three touchdown passes two hundred and at ninety one

(01:43:15):
passing yards in the victory. Number three Penn State goes
on the road to beat Wisconsin twenty eight thirteen. Fourth
ranked Ohio State holds off Nebraska twenty one seventeen. Number
five Texas three touchdown passes from Quinn Yours, but they
needed to hold off Vanderbilt, who has really looked impressive
at times this year, but the Longhorns do win it.
On Saturday twenty seven to twenty four. Number six Miami

(01:43:38):
stays undefeated as they beat Florida State thirty six to fourteen.
The Seminoles really have fallen on hard times after going
undefeated in the regular season last year, narrowly missing the
four team playoff, and they are now just one in seven,
including one in six in ACC play in the SEC,
arguably the matchup of the day, but number fourteen Texas

(01:44:01):
A and M winning this one in impressive fashion against
number eight LSU thirty eight to twenty three, as they
look like a legitimate SEC title contender. The only undefeated
team right now in SEC play at five and oh
Number eleven BYU over UCF thirty seven to twenty four.
Number twelve Notre Dame ends Navy is a perfect season.

(01:44:23):
The Irish twenty at fifty one to fourteen. Number thirteen
Indiana thirty one seventeen winners at home against Washington. Alabama
shuts out Missouri thirty four to nothing. Kansas State comes
back to beat Kansas twenty nine to twenty seven, all
missover Oklahoma twenty six fourteen. The Sooners just one in
four in their first campaign in the SEC, and in

(01:44:44):
overtime at number twenty two SMU, who are four to
zero in their first year in THEACC as they beat
Duke twenty eight to twenty seven.

Speaker 3 (01:44:52):
Beck You Bernie all right, Jeff, There you go. There
are multiple teams trending upward. Will be here in Las
Vegas twelve hours from now. They rhyme with the Kansas
City Chiefs. The Chiefs look like the best team in football.
Say what you want, think what you want. They're the
reason they're six to zero. They're now more defined by

(01:45:13):
their defense. Make no mistake the Chiefs. The Super Bowl,
at least on the AFC side, is going through Kansas City.

Speaker 2 (01:45:22):
Why anytime a.

Speaker 3 (01:45:24):
Key Chiefs player suffers an injury, they find some other
short term replacement and all of a sudden he becomes
a steady contributor. Remember a couple of years ago, Clyde
Edwards Hilaire went down their first round draft pick and
her seventh round draft pick out of Ruckers Isaiah Pacheco. Yeah,
he rushes for one hundred and twenty four yards. The
Chiefs win the Super Bowl, and then they follow up
with an other Super Bowl win. Well, now I have

(01:45:46):
Isaiah Pachecko's out. Remember Kareem Hunt, formerly with the team,
had some serious indiscretions. He's back now. Kareem Hunt appears
to be solving whatever red zone issues the chief may
have had. The Chiefs entered last Sunday, ranked twenty ninth
in red zone efficiency only thirty eight percent of the time,

(01:46:06):
but they beat the Niners in San Francisco by ten
twenty eight eighteen. Kareem Hunt two, not one, but two
red zone rushing scores in the second quarter. In fact,
Kansas City on their first five trips inside the twenty
score touchdowns on four of them. That's big time the Chiefs. Yeah,

(01:46:26):
they're back to back Super Bowl champions. They look like
the best team in football, and it's because they are
a complete team. They're DNA their balance. Granted, they're not
setting records. Pick on Mahomes all you want, at your
own peril. Most NFL games come down to five, four
or five impactful plays, and Kansas City makes those plays

(01:46:49):
every time. Steve Spagnolo and his defense has not gotten
enough credit. This is one of the most sound assignment,
sound defenses, smartest defenses in the league period. The Niners
are not some fly by night team from Hoboken. The

(01:47:11):
Chiefs held the Niners to two of eleven on third
down conversions, and they intercepted brock Party three times. Pick
on brock Purty all you want, You're crazy, He's damn good.
I know, when he was winning, you don't want to
give any the credit. But now that they're getting beat
a couple of times, you want to blame him. Sure,
but while you're doing it, give the Chiefs credit because

(01:47:32):
they're the best team in football. They're trending even upward.

Speaker 2 (01:47:35):
And how about.

Speaker 3 (01:47:36):
Jared Goff all the people that were so happy when
he left Los Angeles. I knew the guy could play.
I always knew he could play. Ben Johnson, that's a
real combo. Ben Johnson the offensive coordinator. They strolled into
Minnesota last week and they took control of the NFC North.
And that's no small feat because Brian Flores, the coordinator
for the Vikings they entered last Sunday, I know it's

(01:48:00):
what I'm about to tell you, is deluded now because
Minnesota's lost back to back games. But heading into the
last Sunday, you didn't know any of this. Minnesota had
one of the fiercest defenses in the NFL. They had
been completely confusing, confounding some of the best quarterbacks in
the league, including c. J. Stroud and Brock Perty And
what did Jared Goff do twenty two to twenty five

(01:48:22):
for two hundred and eighty yards, two touchdowns and a
come from behind thirty one to twenty nine win. And boy,
if there's a way that the Lions can chain Ben
Johnson to Detroit, because you know he's going to be
getting all kinds of head coaching interviews in the next
hiring cycle, and if he finds an opportunity to do
his liking, that's just what happens in these deals. But

(01:48:44):
I got to tell you the Lions are they play
complimentary football. They had a rough week because they'd won
the week before and then lost Dayden Hutchinson. But in
this play action passing game that Ben Johnson has created
for Jared Goff, he's not only a fish and he's comfortable,
and it mitigated the Minnesota pass rush and Minnesota uses
a lot of misdirection to generate pressure on the passer.

(01:49:08):
Detroit confound it. Give credit to Ben Johnson, and give
credit to Dan Campbell, and give credit to Jared Goff
for overcoming that. There are two other teams that are
confounding and completely rising up their ranks, and not a
lot of folks were talking about these teams, but you

(01:49:31):
better recognize that we're going to talk about those teams
as well, because what they did.

Speaker 2 (01:49:35):
Last week.

Speaker 3 (01:49:38):
Will be an indicator of what they're capable of and
what they're sealing is and whether or not it continues
later on today we'll find out.

Speaker 2 (01:49:45):
But there are two.

Speaker 3 (01:49:46):
Teams in addition to the Lions and this of the
Chiefs that you got to record with because they're uptrending too.
I'm Bernie Fraderick Comedy a lyone from Las Vegas, Fox
Sports Radio, Tireck dot Com Studios.

Speaker 2 (01:49:58):
Keep it locked.

Speaker 3 (01:49:58):
You're listening to the Bernie Frown Show on Fox Sports Radio.
All right, back on the Bernie Frattle Show, Fox Sports Radio.
We are coming toy live from the Tarrack dot Com
studios here in a Las Vegas and we are fourteen
minutes away from the dance Sensation sweep of the nation.
What kind of brand new fool you followed by what

(01:50:19):
my name? And I'd say, I got it. I know
I say this a lot of times, so I got
a doozy.

Speaker 2 (01:50:23):
This is This is one that'll really leave you scratch
in your head.

Speaker 3 (01:50:26):
And I'm sure the guys got some good ones as well.
By the way, I want to remind the folks football
fans be sure to tune into Fox Sports Radio every
Sunday morning, beginning at ten am Eastern, seven am Pacific
for Contown to Kickoff, presented by BEDMGM, Brian No, Jeff Schwartz,
and professional better my Man Bill Krackenberger.

Speaker 2 (01:50:48):
We'll have you covered three hours before kickoff. Every Sunday morning.

Speaker 3 (01:50:53):
Listen to Contdown to Kickoff presented by BETMGM right here
on Fox Sports Radio in the iHeart Radio app. So
the Chiefs are trending up, the Lions are trending up,
the Jets are trending down, the Browns are trending down.
The Falcons, I think, are trending down. Who else is
trending up? How about that Packers defense? Did you see

(01:51:16):
what they did to Houston and the c J. Stroud
Texans passing attack? I mean, I already like Jordan Love
and what they've done. And the Texans certainly missed Nico
Collins here, star receiver, but they still have a pretty
dynamic passing attack behind c. J. Stroud, and the Packers
absolutely shut it down last week. This was a very

(01:51:37):
intriguing matchup. They held CJ. Stroud to ten or twenty
one for only eighty six yards. Absolutely at career low.
He didn't even throw a touchdown pass. The leading Hughton
Texans receiver was their tight end. The leading receiver was
their tight end, Dalton Schultz. He caught one ball.

Speaker 2 (01:51:56):
For twenty eight yards.

Speaker 3 (01:51:57):
And then of course Stefan Diggs, who who's already starting
to work as magic in Houston. If you get my drift,
got into it with Packer's cornerback Gyr Alexander.

Speaker 2 (01:52:06):
He did catch well.

Speaker 3 (01:52:10):
Rather than go down that road, let's just put it
this way. The defensive line in Green Bay looks like
it deserves a lot of credit because they put constant
pressure on CJ. Strout and they got a first year
defensive coordinator, Jeff Hafley, who spent he's been in the
NFL as a defensive box coach for almost a decade.

(01:52:31):
But if you're looking for a reason, in addition to
the great job that Jordan Love has done to get
their five and two start, there's no question that Green
Bay has one of the top secondary units in the league.
It's just something to watch. And combine that with a

(01:52:51):
pass rush, combine that with the way they play the game,
and Jordan Love, I got to tell you this, NFC
North is really interesting. Finally there's a chance. I mean,
I say this very cautiously because I got a feeling
Cincinnati will take care of business Sunday against Philadelphia, but

(01:53:11):
at least for one week. Last week, and yes it
was against the Cleveland the Brown so I don't know
if it counts Phillies defense. They're coming off their best
outing of the year and they're went over Cleveland.

Speaker 2 (01:53:22):
The five sacks.

Speaker 3 (01:53:23):
They had five sacks, and then follow that up then
the following week that was the week before, excuse me,
they completely terrorized another terrible offense, Daniel Jones and the Giants.
They sacked Daniel Jones eight times and they routed New York,
so thirteen sacks in two weeks. And the Giants, course
that could never really find any solid footing on offense.
He always scored three points. But because of the.

Speaker 2 (01:53:43):
Sack yardage, which counts against passing yards net passing yards,
New York finished with forty three net passing.

Speaker 3 (01:53:51):
Yards last week. I'm talking about the New York Giants.
I don't call them the New York football Giants. That's stupid,
because the New York baseball Giants haven't played baseball in
New yorksin It's like nineteen fifty seven, So why do
you need to do that? You know, maybe you think
he sounds cool. I don't know, but it shows how dangerous.
I said this earlier in the show with Mark Medino.
Coaches want to have this mantra. If we bring our

(01:54:14):
best and you bring your best, we think our best
is better than your best. So what those last two
weeks at least show Philadelphia fans because I just they
have talent and Nick Sirianni's a weird dude.

Speaker 2 (01:54:28):
Man. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:54:31):
I don't know what to think about him anymore. I mean,
they did get to a super Bowl, but they have
talent in Philadelphia. It seems like they have a ceiling.
Even though offensively they were only one of thirteen on
third down the last two weeks, so they had a
pass rush that was getting the job done. Saquon Barkley
was getting the job done. Makes his return to MetLife

(01:54:54):
Stadium with one hundred and eighty seven yards from scrimmage
in a touchdown. He only touched the ball nineteen times,
so he was all o place, averaging nine.

Speaker 2 (01:55:00):
Yards of carry. The Eagles are four and two.

Speaker 3 (01:55:05):
They're now healthy on offense. The NFC East is wide open.
There's no excuse anymore for Philadelphia. There's none yet. What
will Philadelphia do against Cincinnati? Now, the Eagles in the
last two games really committed to the run. They rushed

(01:55:25):
combined eighty one times over the past two games. Who
do they think they are in Michigan? But they did
run the ball for three hundred and eighty five total yards.
That's one hundred and ninety two per game. And Saquon
Barkley really paying dividends in Philadelphia. He's second only to
Derrick Henry of the Ravens and rushing yards per game,
and he had that monster game against the Giants last week.
On the other side of the ball, though, I think

(01:55:47):
Cincinnati's offense has really started to rebound. They had a
couple tough weeks, but in back to back wins. Now,
all of a sudden, since these offense has become very efficient.
They're actually scoring touchdowns. I'm seventeen percent of their drives.
That's one every six drives they score a touchdown, which
is doubled from the team's rate the first four week

(01:56:09):
of the season.

Speaker 2 (01:56:11):
Now, Philadelphia should be.

Speaker 3 (01:56:12):
An interesting matchup because I just gave Philadelphia's defense their props.
They actually do rank tenth allowing the fewest points per
drive in the National Football League. The X factor is
gonna be Joe Burrow. For fantasy owners were non plus
with Joe Burrow the first few weeks. And I just
told you what the Eagles defense did to Daniel Jones

(01:56:34):
and Deshaun Watson. But they're not Joe Burrow, I feel
and this feels like a thirty to twenty four game
in favor of Cincinnati. That's just what it feels like
to me. I did bet Cincinnati can't lie. I do
like them in this game. I know that the lou
Anarumo defense in Cincinnati is not what it was three

(01:56:57):
years ago. And I really think they missed Jesse Bates.
Another game to watch is Jets Patriots.

Speaker 2 (01:57:04):
How do you not?

Speaker 3 (01:57:04):
And by the way, the Jets get Hassan Reddick back,
he finally ended his holdout. He'd probably be used as
a situational rusher. And don't tell me Devanti Adams is
going to help the team. Look, they were fifteen to
twenty two here with the Raiders and Devanti Adams he's
not a difference maker. He's put statistically good numbers up
for years. He's not the same guy he used to be.
I promise you that. A few years ago, a few

(01:57:26):
weeks ago, when coach Antonio Pierce said, some guys are
making decision business decisions, or we're gonna make business decisions.
Some guys are making businesses, which means I don't want
to get hurt. So they weren't playing hard. I swear
in my heart, I believe he was talking about don
DeVante Adams because he knew he wasn't getting the ball
was at the game. He wouldn't really run a route.

(01:57:46):
He was dogging it. I'm sorry, that's a fact. So
we'll see what Hassan Reddick does. We'll see what DeVante
Adams does. If the Jets don't win this game, and
they don't win it convincingly, something is even really stinkier
in New York than you could even imagine. And by
the way, the Jets feel free to lean on Breesall
do some play action. The Patriots defense is not great.

(01:58:08):
They allow a lot of yards and points to running backs.
Take advantage of Breeshall. He's a star.

Speaker 2 (01:58:15):
One of many games they'll be watching later on this afternoon,
coming up. You know what you love? You you can't live
without it? What kind of brand new fool of you?
And what my name?

Speaker 3 (01:58:23):
Keep it locked to the Bernie Frattles Show on Fox
Sports Radio. Yep, that's right, you heard the man. Bernie
frattle Show keeps rolling right along. My name is Bernie Fraddle.
We are Cody Alive from the tarret dot Com studios
here in Las Vegas, Fox Sports Radio. Tyret dot com.
We'll help you get there an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping,

(01:58:44):
free road hazard protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers
tyreck dot com. The way fire buying should be. Well,
we've come to that juncture in the week two am Pacific,
five am Eastern, and it has to do with the
fact that our staff, our crew, we pay attention.

Speaker 7 (01:59:05):
Yo.

Speaker 3 (01:59:05):
Gibera once said, you know, you can observe a lot
by watching, and that's exactly what we do. Because across
this great land of ours, from sea to Oily Sea
and around the globe planet solar system, well, people engage
in activities. They they engage in behaviors, and oftentimes those
activities are silly, but somewhat innocuous, not too crazy, you know,

(01:59:31):
not too weird, and other times they are just the
opposite of that. Sometimes it involves even breaking the law,
can be very serious, can even land you in jail.
But regardless of regardless of what these activities are, regardless
of what these behaviors are, they always leave us scratching
our head and asking ourselves, what kind of brand new

(01:59:52):
fool of you?

Speaker 1 (02:00:00):
What kind of brand new fool are you?

Speaker 3 (02:00:03):
Well, this one's a beaute. Let's take it to New Orleans, Louisiana.
Courtesy the Tacapahoa Parish Sheriff's Department in Louisiana, it turns
out that twenty two year old mister Bret Gonzalez was
you know, they was in a bit of a festive mood.

Speaker 2 (02:00:20):
He decided he would.

Speaker 3 (02:00:21):
Peruse the town and you know, maybe engage in a
little robbery, little burglary. And in the past, you know,
we've had some doozies here. I mean, I think I
told the story a few weeks back about someone who
held up a beauty supply store so they could get
a purple wig, and then they wore it around.

Speaker 2 (02:00:40):
Town and the cops nabbed him.

Speaker 3 (02:00:42):
So we've seen it, of all, but we haven't seen
this one, so little mister Brett, twenty two year old
Brett got busy and during his escapade, well, he was
able to grab himself a nice thirty two inch flat
screen TV, a DVD player, So I got DVD players,

(02:01:05):
like I say, do?

Speaker 2 (02:01:06):
Right? Why not? Right?

Speaker 3 (02:01:07):
He even got himself some surround sound speakers and a
portable stereo slash CD player.

Speaker 2 (02:01:16):
Hell, why not a record table while you're at it.
That's kind of a weird one.

Speaker 3 (02:01:19):
Well, the good news is the detectives caught up with them,
because turned out there there was a whistleblower who somehow
had some clues and reported mister Brett to the authorities,
which led to his arrest, and he ended up.

Speaker 2 (02:01:36):
Getting away with it. Right, we don't know who it was.
We don't know who it was.

Speaker 3 (02:01:43):
But here's the weird part in the exactly why we
call this what kind of brand new fool you? Because
it turns out mister Brett stole his thirty two inch
flat screen TV, the DVD player, the surrounds down speakers,
the portable Saro CD player from wait for a church?
He robbed a church? Are you kidding me? Just when

(02:02:07):
you think you've seen it all, you see something new.
And all I gotta say is this mister twenty two
year old Brett from Louisiana, New Orleans, Louisiana, who had
the audacity to rob the Little River United Pentecostal Church.
What kind of brand new fool of you?

Speaker 1 (02:02:29):
All right?

Speaker 2 (02:02:30):
Uh shaye, you go next.

Speaker 1 (02:02:33):
All right.

Speaker 6 (02:02:33):
So, unfortunately no Florida, but this one, this one's actually
gonna be on a Jet Blue flight. So it's gonna
be over in the air, over in airline. It's gonna
be a New Jersey woman issuing Jet Blue in federal
court over an ice cream sandwich she claims that was
dangerously cold brain freeze exactly so. Allegedly, In a lawsuit

(02:03:02):
file Tuesday, Carla Quinenez says Jet Blue was negligent for
serving food at a temperature below what is reasonable or
safe for consumption. The carrier then compounded the problem by
failing to warn her of the dangerously cold temperature and
solid state of the ice cream sandwich she was served. So,

(02:03:26):
according to Kuninya's complaint, the ice cream sandwich that the
defendant served to the plantiff was frozen solid and caused
plantiff to say severe bodily injuries, including a root fracture
of the tooth number ten. The complaint says, So this
all occurred on August twentieth aboard Jet Blue flight where

(02:03:48):
she basically took a big chomp size out of a
strawberry shortcake ice cream that was a little too frozen,
and I guess her front left tooth chipped. And now
she's suing. I don't know who to blame here. I mean,
if she ends up winning the lawsuit, is she a fool?

Speaker 1 (02:04:07):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (02:04:08):
But in the end, if you chip your tooth and
over ice cream and think that maybe I should see
someone for it, I dig, You're a fool, no matter what.
So Carla Kuin then as what kind of f are you?

Speaker 2 (02:04:23):
You know?

Speaker 3 (02:04:23):
I think that qualifies she because well, the one thing
I'd like to know was she the only one on
the whole damn playing the day of the ice cream sandwich.

Speaker 6 (02:04:31):
That's what I was thinking too. It was like, was
everyone sustaining injuries there? What was going on? Was he
the only one?

Speaker 1 (02:04:36):
Maybe she has weak teeth.

Speaker 3 (02:04:37):
And exactly, And is suing really your only remedy? I
mean you can't, I mean really, And I'm always curious,
you know, you sue to mitigate loss. You know, maybe
someone needs to cover her dental fees or whatever. She
doesn't have assurance. But I'd really be curious what damage
is she's seeking to because we are very much in

(02:04:59):
a lutigious and you know, you can't just walk into
a store and slip on a piece of lettuce and
say I'm suing you for ten million, you know, when
you're making thirty eight grand a year.

Speaker 2 (02:05:09):
So that's definitely a very good what kind of damn
brain new fool of you? I mean, he's gonna add
the word damn.

Speaker 1 (02:05:16):
All right, chef, all right.

Speaker 8 (02:05:18):
So we go to the land down Underwear some unidentified
suspects of one in particular, So they were involved in
a shooting and as they were leaving the scene, one
of them, for some reason, tried to set a car
on fire. But as he did so, he also set
himself on fire.

Speaker 2 (02:05:37):
God otherwise or it was like a byproduct.

Speaker 1 (02:05:42):
It was a bipod. Yeah, it was.

Speaker 8 (02:05:43):
He was trying to set a car on fire and
ended up setting himself on fire instead. So police at
least have said that that leaves a lot of strong
evidence for them to be captured, and they haven't at
least have found them or identified them yet. But yeah,
you're gonna go try to set a car on fire
after being involved in a shooting and then you set

(02:06:05):
yourself on fire. Yeah, unedified suspect in Australia. What kind
of brand new fool are you?

Speaker 2 (02:06:13):
Transit?

Speaker 3 (02:06:13):
Set of car on fire, sets themselves on fire because
they weren't particularly careful?

Speaker 2 (02:06:18):
Is that is that fair?

Speaker 1 (02:06:18):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (02:06:19):
Basically kind of reminds you of those stories when like
people buy those barbecues and they bring them home to
put it together.

Speaker 2 (02:06:24):
You ever put something together like that? There's like a
whole bunch of parts left over, and you know, wait,
what's this for? You know when you go to like
the barbecue, if which inges your hair off?

Speaker 3 (02:06:32):
Oh gee, I wonder if that was like fire retarding
stuff anyway, Not that it happened to me. I'm not
saying it happened to.

Speaker 2 (02:06:37):
Me, all right. Another rousing addition, guys, of what kind
of brand new fool of you? Good job which allows
us now to to morphint our second favorite bit that
we lovingly refer to as what my name? And he
we go?

Speaker 3 (02:06:57):
All right, So we talked about the chiefs being six
and oh last undefeated team in the National Football League. Well,
the last time an NFL team started six and okay,
try that again in English. Last time I ran a
tongue from that way. The last time an NFL team
started six and oh after winning two straight Super Bowls,

(02:07:20):
I was the head coach Mark.

Speaker 1 (02:07:21):
Ramsey, what my name, don Sula.

Speaker 2 (02:07:26):
That's a pretty good guess, because you're not that far
off in the era.

Speaker 3 (02:07:29):
I had a feeling, you can go all right. You
kind of gave a good clue to the guys. The
last time an NFL team started six and oh after
winning two straight Super Bowls, I was the head coach Shay.

Speaker 2 (02:07:41):
What my name.

Speaker 6 (02:07:46):
Was it Sean Payden.

Speaker 3 (02:07:48):
Not Sean Payton because he hasn't won two Super Bowls
in a roll the last time. And then Mark gave
a good clue there. Okay, think about the air a
little bit. The last time an NFL team started six
and oh after winning two straight Super Bowls, I was
the head coach.

Speaker 1 (02:08:04):
Chef what my name and against Mike Shanahan.

Speaker 2 (02:08:07):
Not Mike Shannan.

Speaker 7 (02:08:08):
Oh.

Speaker 3 (02:08:08):
That's also not a bad guess, because Denver did win
back to back Super Bowls in the late nineties. Is
actually bill Walls to the San Francisco forty nine ers
bill Walls.

Speaker 2 (02:08:18):
That's why, that's why the shoelm thing was a good clue,
all right. The last time a team started six and
zero after winning back to back Super Bowls, I was
the quarterback, Mark Ramsey. What my name?

Speaker 1 (02:08:34):
Tom Brady?

Speaker 2 (02:08:36):
Not Tom Brady.

Speaker 3 (02:08:37):
The last time a team started six and oh after
winning two straight Super Bowls, I was the quarterback Shaye.

Speaker 2 (02:08:44):
What my name?

Speaker 6 (02:08:47):
Um? Dan Marino.

Speaker 3 (02:08:54):
Actually, Dan Marino never even won a Super Bowl, So
I am sorry. I am sorry as a in Canada.
But good effort as part of the organization. It's still
a process.

Speaker 7 (02:09:07):
All right.

Speaker 3 (02:09:08):
Last time a team started six and oh after winning
two stret Super Bowls, I was the quarterback chef.

Speaker 2 (02:09:13):
What my name Joe Joe Montana.

Speaker 6 (02:09:15):
Of course, if.

Speaker 2 (02:09:18):
Jill Walsh was the head coach.

Speaker 3 (02:09:22):
Joe Montana would be the quarterback. All right, guys, Off
and around and there we go, all right. As a
former NFL head coach, I have the all time record
for the most consecutive winning seasons winning seasons without a
losing season, with twenty one consecutive winning seasons. I think

(02:09:43):
Mark Ramsey's going to get this one. Mark Ramsey went my.

Speaker 1 (02:09:45):
Name Chuck Nole Again.

Speaker 3 (02:09:49):
That's an excellent Okay, that's a good clue. Think guys,
think eron now, not Noel, but dancing right around it.
As a former NFL head coach, I still hold the
all time record for the most consecutive winning seasons with
twenty one.

Speaker 2 (02:10:03):
Shay, what my name?

Speaker 6 (02:10:05):
He did?

Speaker 1 (02:10:06):
He just did? Mark say it already?

Speaker 2 (02:10:08):
No, Mark, it wasn't Chuck Nole, but.

Speaker 6 (02:10:10):
He was no in a in an answer prior.

Speaker 2 (02:10:14):
Well, you know we can't do that here, my friend, I'm.

Speaker 1 (02:10:16):
Not fucker's kicking.

Speaker 2 (02:10:19):
It doesn't red It's take a guess, go ahead.

Speaker 6 (02:10:23):
I mean, if Kevin can't get it, I'll join it.

Speaker 3 (02:10:26):
As a former NFL head coach, I had the all
time record. I still have the all time record for
most consecutive winning seasons with twenty one.

Speaker 2 (02:10:34):
Chef, what my name?

Speaker 1 (02:10:35):
Tom Landry?

Speaker 7 (02:10:36):
It is?

Speaker 2 (02:10:36):
In fact Tom Landry? Is he Chuck Noll? Tom Landry? Uh?

Speaker 3 (02:10:40):
Don Juli Bill Walsh. See guys, all right, this one's
a doozy. This one's a tough one, but I think
you can get it. Before Patrick mahomes I was the
last quarterback to lead my team to a six and
oh record while actually throwing more interceptions than touchdowns.

Speaker 2 (02:11:01):
Mark Ramsey, what my name?

Speaker 1 (02:11:04):
Joe Montana?

Speaker 3 (02:11:05):
Not Joe Montana. Before Patrick mahomes I was the last
quarterback to actually lead my team to a six and
oh record while throwing more interceptions than touchdowns.

Speaker 2 (02:11:19):
Shay what my name?

Speaker 6 (02:11:26):
Hmm had jamis? I don't know. He didn't go six
and oh, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (02:11:31):
That's all right, that's all right. This one's one of
the tougher ones I've ever had. Actually Before Patrick mahomes
I was the last quarterback to lead my team to
a six and oh record while throwing more interceptions and touchdowns.

Speaker 2 (02:11:43):
Chef what my name?

Speaker 1 (02:11:45):
I'm trying to remember who actually went six and oh?

Speaker 3 (02:11:47):
See that's the key. You really got to start to
narrow it down. Very few teams have started out six
and oh in the National FOOTBA League. Tom Brady not
Tom Brady, and I can't imagine Brady throwing. Okay, you're
kind of we're kind of dancer. Let's have a little
fun with this one. He also had a brother that
was quarterback in the NFL. Anybody want to take a shot,

(02:12:08):
anybody can.

Speaker 1 (02:12:09):
Blurt it out Derek Carr, not Derek Carr.

Speaker 2 (02:12:13):
Could is Derek Carver? Let anybody eat six?

Speaker 1 (02:12:15):
And oh David Carr never won six and l.

Speaker 3 (02:12:18):
Neither did Derek. Yeah, he went two and oh, I
think a couple of times. And that's about it.

Speaker 2 (02:12:24):
H going once, going twice. He had a brother who
won a Super.

Speaker 3 (02:12:27):
Bowl, a super Bowl, Yes, going once, going twice. They
do a cast, a blank cast on Monday Night football.

Speaker 6 (02:12:40):
Oh, Brian.

Speaker 3 (02:12:45):
Team to six and oh uh and then but he
at that time being six and oh just like Mahomes
right now actually had thrown more right, Good job, good job, guys.
All right, I'm currently the head coach of the only
NFC team that Lamar Jackson lost to. Lamar Jackson has
beat every NFC team except this one. I'm the head

(02:13:07):
coach of the only NFC team Lamar Jackson has lost to.
This will be surprising Mark Ramsey, what my name? It's
current coach.

Speaker 1 (02:13:16):
And he lost to? What team?

Speaker 2 (02:13:17):
Now, well, he's he's the.

Speaker 3 (02:13:21):
It's not that he lost, it's that he's the head
coach of the only team Lamar Jackson has lost to.
Of all the NFC teams, Lamar Jackson's beat all the
NFC teams except this guy.

Speaker 1 (02:13:37):
I'm blanking on the name.

Speaker 2 (02:13:39):
Okay, no problem.

Speaker 3 (02:13:40):
I'm the head coach of the only NFC team Lamar
Jackson lost to chef what my name? Kyle Sanahan Carl Shanahan.
I'm the head coach of the only NFC team Lamar
Jackson lost to Shay what my name?

Speaker 6 (02:13:54):
It's uh the Giants, right? Brandable?

Speaker 2 (02:13:58):
You got it is?

Speaker 3 (02:13:59):
Fact is Brian Davis. Remember three years ago, two years ago,
they made the playoffs. They weren't that bad. They're just
going off a cliff, all right. So there's lots of
talk about whether or not the Boston Celtics and I'll
probably get into this next week with with Mark Medina.
But the last time whether or not the Boston Celtics

(02:14:20):
can can repeat?

Speaker 2 (02:14:21):
Be nice? When I finished my sentence?

Speaker 3 (02:14:23):
All right, So, the last time an NBA team actually
won back to back championships, I was a head coach,
Mark Ramsey, went my name.

Speaker 1 (02:14:34):
I'm not sure if that was a Celtics culture not
so I don't know.

Speaker 2 (02:14:38):
All right, no problem, no problem.

Speaker 3 (02:14:40):
The last time an NBA team won back to back titles,
I was the head coach Shaite what my name?

Speaker 6 (02:14:50):
It's the Lakers two thousand and nine head coach. Oh
my gosh, twy ten. What's is Phil Jackson? Arey going jesus?
Oh my god, that's bad.

Speaker 2 (02:14:59):
Not Phil Jackson. The last the last time in the NBA.

Speaker 3 (02:15:05):
All right, let me try it again. The last time
an NBA team went back to back titles. I was
the head coach, chef.

Speaker 2 (02:15:12):
What my name?

Speaker 1 (02:15:12):
Steve Kerr?

Speaker 2 (02:15:13):
You got it, Steve Kerr? Remember I don't I know.

Speaker 3 (02:15:18):
Some of these are maddening, aren't they. Let's go back
to baseball. I remain and I talked about this very
thing earlier in the show.

Speaker 2 (02:15:26):
If you guys are going to get this one.

Speaker 3 (02:15:29):
I remain the only pitcher in the history of the
National League to win the Cy Young and the Rookie
of the Year in the same season.

Speaker 2 (02:15:37):
Mark Ramsey went, my name.

Speaker 1 (02:15:41):
You said, Cy Young? And what in same year?

Speaker 2 (02:15:44):
Cy Young and Rookie of the Year in same season.

Speaker 8 (02:15:50):
Uh, it's not Jim Abbott.

Speaker 2 (02:15:55):
That's a good name.

Speaker 3 (02:15:56):
Jim Abbit former University of Michigan pitcher famously missing one
hand athlete Elvin athlete, Not you, Mabbitt. I remain the
only pitcher in the history of the National League to
win the cy Young and Rookie of the Year in
the same season.

Speaker 1 (02:16:11):
Chef with my name, Fernando Valezuela.

Speaker 3 (02:16:14):
It is, of course, late great Fernando Valenzuela. All right,
this one should be a layup, guys. I am the
winningest coach, the winningest head coach in Los Angeles Rams
franchise history. Chef with my name, Oh, my boy, Sean McVay.

(02:16:35):
It is, in fact, Sean McVay. With his win Thursday
Night over the Vikings, he now has that distinction. Anybody
want to take a guess who he passed up? Anybody
can blur.

Speaker 2 (02:16:50):
John Robinson, John Robinson, look at you, chef. Now you
just show it off.

Speaker 3 (02:16:55):
While we are on the head coach train, I am
the head coach of the last team. This is a
National Football League question, okay. I am the head coach
of the last team to beat the Kansas City Chiefs.
Mark Ramsey, what.

Speaker 2 (02:17:12):
My name.

Speaker 1 (02:17:16):
To beat the Chiefs? Beat the Chiefs? I'm blanking on
the names is tonight?

Speaker 2 (02:17:22):
It's okay, it happens, all right.

Speaker 3 (02:17:24):
I'm the head coach of the last NFL team to
beat the Kansas City Chiefs.

Speaker 2 (02:17:27):
Shaye, what my name.

Speaker 6 (02:17:30):
Did Who did the Chiefs lasses? Aren't they? They won
the Super Bowl? They won ye playoffs.

Speaker 2 (02:17:40):
And you got you're gonna remember it.

Speaker 6 (02:17:42):
You're gonna kick yourselfers. Oh, I stop.

Speaker 3 (02:17:46):
I'm the head coach of the last NFL team to
beat the Kansas City Chief chef with my name?

Speaker 1 (02:17:50):
Yeah, Shaye? Would the assist? Antonio?

Speaker 2 (02:17:52):
Assist? Yes?

Speaker 1 (02:17:53):
Would you?

Speaker 3 (02:17:54):
Would you have gotten it? I think remember Christmas Day?
They completely stimy.

Speaker 1 (02:17:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (02:17:58):
I was very delayed on that, and I'm very annoyed
at that.

Speaker 2 (02:18:01):
Well, listen, listen.

Speaker 6 (02:18:03):
They always beat them too.

Speaker 2 (02:18:05):
Let's have a little fun with a couple more guys.
We'll win on a high note.

Speaker 3 (02:18:09):
The only time the New Orleans Saints won a Super Bowl,
I was the head coach.

Speaker 2 (02:18:14):
Mark Ramsey went, my name.

Speaker 1 (02:18:17):
Is this Sean Payton.

Speaker 3 (02:18:19):
There you go, Bud, There you go, Sean Payton, Sean Payton.

Speaker 2 (02:18:24):
One more for the road? What do you say?

Speaker 1 (02:18:26):
Let's do it.

Speaker 3 (02:18:27):
In twenty twenty three, I led all NFL quarterbacks and
passing yards with four thousand, six hundred and twenty four
passing yards.

Speaker 2 (02:18:35):
Shay what my name? Wait?

Speaker 1 (02:18:39):
With?

Speaker 2 (02:18:40):
Said earlier in the show, we phrase the sorry, yeah, sure, no, I'll.

Speaker 3 (02:18:44):
Rephrasing, no problem, excuse me. In twenty twenty three, I
led all NFL quarterbacks in passing yards with four thousand,
six hundred and twenty four passing.

Speaker 6 (02:18:54):
Yards in two thousand and three twenty three.

Speaker 2 (02:18:57):
In twenty twenty.

Speaker 6 (02:18:59):
Three last year, who led to Dak right?

Speaker 2 (02:19:02):
Not Dak Prescott?

Speaker 3 (02:19:03):
I said this earlier in the show, too, guys in
twenty twenty three last season, that all NFL quarterbacks and
passing yards with forty six twenty four Chef what my
name right?

Speaker 1 (02:19:13):
I'm trying to think who you talked about earlier on
too what it is to? Okay?

Speaker 3 (02:19:17):
It was all right, guys, good job, good job all
the way around, good participation, good pacing, Mark, good job
on the sound effects, all the way around. Just another
rousing edition of what kind of brand new fool are you?
Followed by what my Name? And of course we'll do
it next week at the same time two pm, two am,

(02:19:39):
And even though at two am next week the clocks
go back to one am, but we'll keep it at
exactly the same cadence heading into the fourth hour of
the show. Next week, we'll have our five hour extravaganza
coming up. More NFL Sunday to chop up, among other things.
I'm Bernie Frattle. We're coming to line from the Las
Vegas Fox Sports Radio diirect dot com studios.

Speaker 2 (02:20:00):
Keep it locked.

Speaker 3 (02:20:01):
You're listening to the Bernie Frattle Show on Fox Sports Radio.
Ah right, We're back on the Bernie Fratter Show, Fox
Fororts Radio. Come to live from the Tarak dot com studios.
Can't resist talking about this one matchup, the dumpster fire matchup.
The Cowboys three and three visit the Niners three and
four San Francisco, Land four.

Speaker 2 (02:20:20):
Believe me. And by the way, it seems like yams ago.

Speaker 3 (02:20:22):
Remember the Cowboys lost to the Lions forty seven to
nine at home a couple weeks ago, thirty eight point
loss at home. Mathematically, the Cowboys obviously are still in
the playoff chase, but they don't have any good recent
memories of trips to Levi Stadium. They've lost twice, including
forty two to ten last season. Now they are three

(02:20:43):
and one after the bayern to coach Mike McCarthy, and
after a bad loss and a bye week, To say
the Cowboys need this win badly would be an understatement.
They've been outscored by forty two points this season, the
second worst point differential through six games by a team
that's five better in the past decade. That's just the
beginning of the Cowboys foibles. I expect the Niners to

(02:21:07):
take it out on the Cowboys. They lost it home
to the Chiefs last week. Yes, the Niners are laying four.
I think you're safe laying the four. This very much
feels like a twenty eight to seventeen game. Dak you
got paid sixty million. Ceedee Lamb, you got your thirty million.
Enjoy closing down John Bajuice because you won't be going

(02:21:28):
to the super Bowl unless you buy a ticket. And
that's all I got to say about that. Coming up,
Christopherfetzsworld of Soccer. But first we go back to our guy,
the chef with the last.

Speaker 8 (02:21:38):
Yeah Bernie game at two of the World Series, going
at to the Los Angeles Dodgers as they defeat the
New York Yankees four to two. LA getting home runs
from Tommy Edmunds, hi Oscar Hernandez and Freddie Freeman. Hernandez
and Freeman going back to back in the third inning
to help back a strong start by Yoshinoba Yamamoto six

(02:21:58):
of the third innings. The only base head he allowed
was a home run too. Juan Soto also struck out
four as he helped give the Dodgers a two to
nothing series lead, but a scary situation as show hey
Otani trying to steal second base dove for the bag
appear to injure his shoulder and it looks serious, although
Dave Roberts sounded pretty optimistic after the game.

Speaker 11 (02:22:21):
He had a little left shoulder subliction, so we're gonna
get some tests at some point tonight tomorrow, and then
we'll know more in the next couple of days. But
the strength was great, the range of motion good, so
we're encouraged.

Speaker 8 (02:22:37):
Game three of the World Series set to take place
Monday evening in New York. In at college football had
some great matchups on this fall Saturday in the SEC.
Number fourteen Texas A and M five and zero now
an SEC play after they beat number eight LSU thirty

(02:22:57):
eight to twenty three, So that lost any at the
beginning of the season seems like a distant memory. Number
five Texas had to get by number twenty five Vanderbilt,
but they do win at twenty seven to twenty four
as quinn Ewers throws three touchdown passes, Dylan Gabriel with
three touchdown tosses as well as top ranked Oregon A
beats number twenty Illinois rather handily thirty eight to nine.

(02:23:19):
Number three Penn State goes on the road to beat
Wisconsin twenty eight thirteen. Number four Ohio State twenty one
seventeen winners against Nebraska. Number six Miami is now eight
and oh after they beat Florida State thirty six fourteen.
The Seminoles now just one and seven on the season.
Number eleven BYU winners at UCF thirty seven to twenty four.

(02:23:40):
Number twelve Notre Dame ends Navy's undefeated season fifty one fourteen.
The Irish over the midshipman, Indiana over Washington thirty one seventeen.
Alabama shuts out Missouri thirty four to nothing. Kansas State
comes back to beat Kansas twenty nine to twenty seven.
All missover Oklahoma twenty six to fourteen. The Sooners just
one in four in SEC play and in overtime. It's

(02:24:02):
number twenty two SMU Overduke twenty eight to twenty seven.

Speaker 1 (02:24:05):
Beck you Bernie all right?

Speaker 2 (02:24:08):
Jeff Well.

Speaker 3 (02:24:10):
You know, the Major League Baseball playoffs otherwise known as
the World Series, seem to be going along swimmingly, well.

Speaker 2 (02:24:17):
Unless you're named the New York Yankees. But they have
not lacked for excitement. But they're not the only professional
sport where playoffs are happening. That's why we bring in
Chris Burffett's World of Soccer.

Speaker 4 (02:24:31):
The greatest goals, the thrilling finishes, the international drumack. It's
all here in this report from the World of Soccer.

Speaker 1 (02:24:51):
Bernie October, late October.

Speaker 12 (02:24:53):
Some of the best times in sports, and let's add
some soccer to the mix along with your football and
baseball and basketball. Starting up, that is, the MLS Cup
playoffs are on. We actually had our first game in
the round one best of three series between Inter Miami
and Atlanta United. Now Atlanta came through from the wildcard

(02:25:13):
against Montreal on penalty kicks. Vancouver is your wild card
winner from the West, overcoming the Portland Timbers. They'll take
on LAFC. More on them later, but two to one
final score for Miami over Atlanta, which is a fascinating game,
partially because of Miami. Yes, they do have the best
player on the planet. Yes, they have the most talent

(02:25:36):
lated team and throwing a ton of money at this
roster in hopes to win at least one MLS Cup,
while they have the powers that be in Leonel Messi,
Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba Suarez and all but having goals
in this game. But at the same time, their regular
season was something of a weird outlier. Yes, they do

(02:25:58):
finish with a historic seventy four points, the most ever
in MLS regular season in their claiming of the Supporters Shield,
But at the same time, they've also been wildly outperforming
their expected goal differential this year, especially compared to last
year's Miami team. They've actually outperformed they're expected goal differential

(02:26:21):
by more than an entire goal per game in twenty
twenty four, which is fairly unprecedented. Expected goal is an
easy way for us to know, you know, what they
look like on the shots they're taking and kind of
looking at quality shots. Now it's a bit of a
different case here because on Friday to one over Atlanta,
they actually racked up about a three to zero expected

(02:26:43):
goal or I believe three to two depending on the counting.
I haven't gotten the final tallies yet, but that's a
flip of the script really for what this has been
and we'll see if they can keep it up. Game
two coming on November two. There's a lot of games,
usually not more than one or two a night in
the MLS Cup playoffs, so this is going to be

(02:27:04):
going on for quite some time as we march down
towards the MLS Cup Final sometime in December. So Miami
is often running What else is going around there, well,
I think the main competition that the Miami will have
in the East is going to come in the form
of the defending champions, the Columbus Crew, set to kick
off on Tuesday against Red Bull New York. Columbus might

(02:27:28):
be one of the most complete rosters in this entire
playoffs right now. They look very capable of being able
to defend their crown here. Kucho Hernandez is wonderful still,
and while there are plenty of other competition in the
Eastern Conference, the only one who could really be a
dark horse in these playoffs would be Orlando City, who

(02:27:51):
enter the playoffs red hot. They won ten of their
last fourteen games, and they've very few teams to put
together a better points per game record than they have
as they have come in and just been crushing. They're
set to kick off on Sunday against Charlotte in their
first game of the best of three series, so that'll

(02:28:13):
be a very fascinating game to watch as well. And
then there's Cincinnati squaring off against New York City FC.
And Cincinnati has been a team that has looked very
impressive in past years. This year, though, I think they
face a very uphill battle against some of the more
likely teams here. But at the end of the day,
the reigning MVP Luciano Acosta makes you a very dangerous

(02:28:36):
team for Cincinnati, but they are very likely to crash
out if I'm going to have to pick anyone to
really get upset as these goes here, I think we're
looking at a final in the conference final in the
East between Miami and Columbus. Either way, unless Orlando really
rattles the cage and the next round they would face
Miami in the next round of Orlando in Miami advance,

(02:28:57):
so keep an eye.

Speaker 1 (02:28:58):
On that matchup.

Speaker 12 (02:28:59):
As for the West, LAFC managed to steal the number
one seed from La Galaxy on kind of a final
action of Decision Day and just just by a whole differential,
they were tied on points. But LAFC really is probably
the team to beat. When they were talking about the

(02:29:20):
West here, they I mentioned expected gold differential earlier in
this segment. LAFC finished with the best goal differential expected
gold differential in the league this year, and their talent
is playing. To see between Jerud Denny's Wowonga Matteos Bogus,
there is so much to love here. The only thing

(02:29:41):
I'm going to say is this year they never were
able to put away the Columbus Crew. So if they
we have a rematch of last year's MLS Cup Final,
maybe I'm betting against LAFC, but anyone else that's going
to be a real slober knocker. If there's anyone who's
going to prevent us to see an l traffico in
the West Conference Final, it will be the Seattle Sounders.

(02:30:04):
They have probably the best defense. They don't have a
lot of offense really to speak of, but they are
probably the best defensive team in here. They're going to
be kicking off on Monday against the Houston Dynamo and Seattle.
I really like how they play defense. I think They're
just a hard nosed team that really want to take
the ball from you and just prevent you from scoring.

(02:30:27):
It is a very interesting team and they would play
LAFC in the semi finals.

Speaker 1 (02:30:32):
Of both those teams advance.

Speaker 12 (02:30:34):
And then there's the Galaxy, who were shocking this year
to say the least, a team that had really kind
of conceded the power of being LA's soccer team to
FC and now Galaxy came out roaring this year with
some real talented, talented attackers. They might not be good
against the ball, but when they have possession, they are

(02:30:56):
incredibly incredibly hard to stop from store from scoring a goal.
Their defense, of course, and possession might still be the
achilles heel as they lock in here, but I think
we are looking at an LAFC LA Galaxy l traffico
for the conference finals, which would be a very very

(02:31:16):
tasty treat to have a full LA Conference final, especially
with all the other amazing sports have been going on
in the City of Angels. Lots of watch here this
week in the MLS Cup Bernie A lot that's going
to be played here again, LAFC against Vancouver on Sunday.
The real one I'm watching also on that Sunday, Orlando

(02:31:37):
and Charlotte. Going to be hard to fit it in
with all the NFL action, but rest assured, I always
have many, many monitors, and I keep up on many
many sporting events. We'll see you next time. Enjoy the
MLS Cup playoffs. This is the world of soccer.

Speaker 3 (02:31:51):

Sports Radio Tirec dot Com studios here in Las Vegas.

Speaker 2 (02:32:53):
Department of Redundancy Department. Keep it locked. You're listening to
the Bernie Fradle Show on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (02:32:58):
All right, we'll wrapping it up on the Bernie Frattle Show,
Fox Sports Radio. Yes, we've been coming to you live
from the Tyraq dot Com studios here in Las Vegas
since eleven pm Pacific on Saturday night. And before going
any further, well to thank my crew, my broadcast team
back in Los Angeles, turning all the dials, keeping us
glued together, participating in discussions brand new fool, what my name?

(02:33:21):
Everybody on their game tonight. Mark Ramsey, our technical producer,
keeping us live and on the air, flying the plane.
Shay Mogguard our executive producer, and of course Chef Kevin
Wyre on the updates.

Speaker 2 (02:33:37):
Good job tonight, guys, We did it again. Look forward
to it next week.

Speaker 3 (02:33:42):
By the way, next week, next Saturday night, heading into
Sunday November two, heading into Saturday, November second, hitting into
Sunday November third. Remember daylight savings Time comes to an end,
so you fall back. So we'll be doing our annual extravagance,
a five hour daylight savings time show. But I'll also
be back on these airwaves next Friday night at eleven

(02:34:04):
PM with plenty more high jinks, and we'll look forward
to seeing you then. Until then, if you happen to
be watching Tom Brady broadcast the Seahawks hosting the Buffalo
Bills later on this afternoon, that game kicks off on
about eleven hours from now, a little less than that,

(02:34:24):
maybe ten hours and fifteen minutes something like that, you
might notice something. See, because there was a vote from
the NFL owners this past week as whether or not
Tom Brady should be a part owner of the Raiders,
and it was unanimous thirty two to nothing.

Speaker 2 (02:34:39):
Yes, Now there's a public debate as to whether or
not Tom Brady can and should continue as a Fox.

Speaker 3 (02:34:45):
Broadcaster, and that's far from unanimous. People are kind of
going back and forth. Remember, Brady signed a tenure three
hundred and seventy five million dollar contract with Fox six
games in interestingly enough, and a newsletter conducted by Front
Office Sports, seventy percent of the readers don't think he'll
be in the job three seasons from now. See because,

(02:35:10):
and as I said a minute ago, if you listen
to Tom Brady on Sunday Live from Seattle, the Seahawks
hosting the Buffalo Bills doing what he does, it should
sound different because it has to sound different. As a
formally approved part owner, Tom Brady now faces the following

(02:35:32):
restrictions to his Fox broadcasting job. One, he cannot criticize
teams or referees. Huh you mentioned if they told Charles
Barkley about that. He can't enter team facilities. Brady can't
attend practices. Brady cannot join pregame production meetings with teams

(02:35:56):
or players in person or virtually. Plus and courses should
come as no surprise, Brady is subject to the league's
gambling and tampering policies. Now, other commentators have already pointed
to the fact that they no criticizing the rest rule.
This would be the biggest problem. How can you in

(02:36:16):
good faith call that game? Thursday night? I realized there
was less than a minute to go in the game,
the egregious face masking non call Sam Darnold the inzo,
which led to a safety, which put the game over
the total of forty eight and a half points and
sealed the victory for the Rams. And even though the
NFL has replay assisted, they elected not to do anything.
And I'm not going to get into the nuances to

(02:36:38):
what their limitations are. That's not the point. As a broadcaster,
you have to be a keen observer. So Brady just
has to ignore that and listen. I will tell you
that Brady's been pretty vanilla in his commentary so far,
not too dissimilar to his press conferences as a player.
So I don't think Tom Brady's going to have a
hell of a hard time curving his criticism of refs

(02:37:01):
too much, but not being able to criticize teams as
a bigger problem. What do you do when Deshaun Watson
throws his third pick of the game, or what do
you say when Jamis Winston throws four pick six a Sunday. Well,
I guess it doesn't worry because he's not going to
be broadcasting that game, right, But you're not going to
be able to say, well, maybe the Browns really screwed
up by giving Deshaun Watson all that money the most

(02:37:23):
guaranteed money in NFL history.

Speaker 2 (02:37:26):
You get the point. The truth of the.

Speaker 3 (02:37:27):
Matter is Tom Brady has to sound different because the
restrictions say he has to, and that they're in lives.
The consensus opinion among other broadcasters that those restrictions will
be his out in the next two to three years.

Speaker 7 (02:37:43):
Me.

Speaker 3 (02:37:44):
I have no idea. He's been fairly vanilla in blad,
but he's still Tom Brady. He's gonna do it for
the Bernie Fraddles show back on these airwaves next Friday
night at eleven, Keep it Locked. The Great Andy Furman
is up next. Fox Sports Radio
