It’s Fox Sports Red Zone Radio with  Aaron Torres and Jason Martin! Aaron and Jason dive into the biggest matchups of the day, including the Falcons beating the Cowboys handedly and continuing the notion that the Cowboys stink and even the Bills kicking a clutch game winning 61yd kick to beat the Dolphins with 5 seconds left. The guys also react live to the Lions taking it to the Packers in Lambeau, the Bears getting beaten up by the Cardinals, and the Seahawks vs Rams going down to the wire. FSR NFL Insider Adam Caplan discusses the Eagles letting the Jaguars back in the game and what is the inside info on both team organizations as they seem to be a circus of late, we go over our Most Valuable Plays, and more!

Speaker 2 (00:04):

(00:27):
buying should be. Steve Hartman Rich Orenberger took you through
the early slate eight games in the books.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
We have four going on right now.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
I'm joined by Jason Martin in Victorytown, USA, Nashville, Tennessee.
They get the amazing victory that we'll be telling our
grandkids about over the Patriots in overtime.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
Jmart what's going on, man?

Speaker 1 (00:49):
What's happening? Well, we got three football games, and then
there's the Jaguars Eagles. I don't know that that's a
football game. There's only one team playing, so, but you
have pouring rain in a zona. They're right now slowly
trying to close.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
I need answers to that because I was how do
you not know that was coming? I'm literally as we
speak wearing a twenty twenty four Final Four shirt that
I bought at the Final Four that was played at
State Farm Stadium, which is where the Arizona Cardinals play,
And I can promise you when Yukon beat Purdue to
win the national.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
Championship, the roof was not open.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
So you know, we're gonna get our crack research team
on this, but like I want to get to everything
else that's going on, because you know, the Lions game
is interesting.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
You know, we'll get to everything.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
I just need an explanation as to why that roof
was even open because it is raining and now hailing
in Arizona right now.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
J Martin, Yeah, it's ridiculous. I mean, were you caught
off guard? Was there no forecast of a hailstorm? I mean,
I know you can sometimes weather can fool you, but
like they were showing it and it's gonna take forever,
it looks like for this thing to close up, and
it is just an absolute downpour. You also have rain
in Green Bay, but that one's excusable because it's an

(02:02):
open air stadium in Arizona. You didn't have to do this,
and so that's really really strange, and it can affect
obviously both these games, because both of them are pretty
pretty big. Tom rains that that could call some turnovers.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Well, I'll tell you what, j Mart. You did mention
that the big one in Green Bay is underway. Lions
at the Packers just moments ago. Mazzi played it for you,
but we'll play it for you again. Go ahead, Professor.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Fourth and goal for.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
The Lions from just inside the Green Bay three.

Speaker 4 (02:30):
Gough's got it back.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
Looking throwing left side once on X the grab.

Speaker 5 (02:35):
Touchdown Detroit Lions. Ohoa, Benby want to throw that time
by Jared Guck.

Speaker 6 (02:40):
I'm and Ross spinning and making the Cats and the
Lions take the lead.

Speaker 5 (02:44):
The Dan Campbell gamble pays off.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
That is right, the Dan Campbell gamble that was ninety
seven to one.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
The ticket in Detroit?

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Are they broadcasting from a hallway?

Speaker 2 (02:55):
I did notice it did It didn't sound amazing, But listen, maybe.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
The met the windows closed because of the rain.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
I was gonna say, at least the rain in Green Bay.
Maybe they were a little bit more prepared for. But
it was a fourth down conversion vintage Dan Campbell. The
Campbell gamble, I'm un Ross, Saint Brown Detroit up seven
to three in that one. Ja Mart, this is this
is one where we've all been so excited for this week.
I don't really even know what to say at this moment.

(03:23):
Jordan Love is playing for people just joining us obviously,
deal with that groin injury all day Lions with the
early seven to seven three lead.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Excuse me, yeah, I mean, look, that was your pick.
The lines of your pick for the Super Bowl. The
Packers are mine of the NFC. That which is just
interesting that that's the marquee matchup and we're looking at
a six and one versus a six and two team.
Just a great early season matchup. And I don't know
if you notice what a'man Ross Saint Brown was wearing
on the way into the stadium, but he was wearing

(03:51):
a shirt that said shutter sucks and first off, objectively,
I think that's false. Although it's not the best cheese.
I think that's a little bit strong. But if you
do that, then you better catch the touchdown pass, which
he's already done. So I guess you can wear what
you want when you catch that one.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
He did, and I nwal he caught touchdown pass. He
caught it on fourth down Lions, up seven to three.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
Ja Mart, you mentioned Philadelphia.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
They are up ten to nothing early on the Jacksonville Jaguars,
a game where Saquon Barkley thirty six yards rushing. Jalen
hurts a passing touchdown to Saquon Barkley early in this game.
They are up ten nothing in Philadelphia, one hundred and
twenty eight yards of total offense, just thirty two total
yards with about three minutes left for the Jacksonville Jaguars

(04:36):
first half in Philly.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Jmart, Yeah, again, Jacksonville's two and six. It's a terrible
division and they're just not good. And the Eagles seem
to have gotten right. They've gotten healthy again. I don't
think they've got Goddard this week, but they've got everything else,
and you add Saquon to it. It seems like their
offense is starting to starting to come together over this
last few games, and especially in that division. It's pretty

(04:59):
much them in Washington. And then there's two other football teams,
one of which we'll spend a lot of time talking
about during the course of this show. The other one
is going to Germany next week, the Giants to play
against the Panthers. I don't know what to say except
I apologize on that happen in the United States in
Germany for that being our export this year.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
Well, I was actually thinking about that, you know, watching
the Giants Commander's game earlier and seeing that, yes, the
Giants are playing in Munich. I was like, this is
our you know, are welcome to football for the Germans.
I know a few years ago they got Tom Brady
in the Tampa Bay Bucks, but I was thinking about
that as well. Commanders did beat the Giants earlier in
the day, and as we just said, Philly up ten

(05:42):
nothing on the Jacksonville Jaguars really quick, j Mart, because
I want it. There's a lot to get to today
and a lot to get to from the early slate.
Philly has won three straight coming into this one, really
largely back to back, very comfortable wins that that near
three touchdown win over since last week. I know Jacksonville
isn't good, but listen, you know, you and I on

(06:04):
our Saturday show, we were part of the many people
that had a lot to say about Nick Sirianni and
where this organization stood. I remember, for me the low
point being that Saints game that they kind of rally
to win. Well, they beat the Saints, they lose to
the Bucks, and then since then three straight wins. Looks
like they're you know, it's a little early to say
they're cruising up ten to nothing with about three minutes

(06:25):
to go, but got to give them credit where it's due.
Whatever they're doing in that building, they have quietly turned
the ship, as you said, five and two coming into
this one.

Speaker 4 (06:33):
Jamar, Yeah, I.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
Don't know if it changes my impression overall that Nick
Sirianni is some kind of miracle worker all of a sudden,
But certainly the players on that team are coming together,
and Sirianni is at least not not harming them. I
know that's kind of a it's not really even a
compliment anyway, it's not even backhanded. But I'm not particularly
blown away by Nick Sirianni. But the results are the results.

(06:58):
They're a five and two team that's likely to be
six and two in a couple of hours. They have
a ton of talent on the offensive side of the ball,
and you know they're they're gonna be in the mix.
They just are. There's not a lot of depth in
some of these other divisions and Philadelphia is a team
that has some guys that have experience once they get
to the playoffs as well, so it could get interesting.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
Really quickly again.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Philly up ten tohing, Lions up seven to three. They
are punting the ball in the rain in green Bay.
Green Bay will start with the ball, you know, around
the forty or so yard line, thirty five or so
yard line. There is a flag on that play. And oh,
by the way, it appears as though the roof at
State Farm Stadium is just about closed for people just

(07:42):
joining us. The Cardinals are up seven to six on
the Chicago Bears. Cardinals driving in the red zone. The
story of that game, though, is that they had the
roof open in Glendale, Arizona, and it was not only
raining but hailing on the two teams. But Arizona up
seven to six early about five minutes to go in

(08:04):
the first half there, and I'll say this, j Mart,
you know you talk about you know one Arizona. Obviously listen,
the NFC West is wide open, but also just an
intriguing matchup for an Arizona team trying to win their
third straight. Chicago, of course, coming off that crushing, crushing
loss to Washington a week ago.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
Yeah, I mean the NFC West is wide open, like
you said, and Kyler Murray says he feels like he's
playing the best of his career at the quarterback position.
I tend to agree with him. I just feel like
he's more grounded, like he still does the special stuff,
but there's more of a leadership quality. And I do
think that he is. He's jelling pretty well with some
of his young talent. I think Harrison Junior. I think
they have pretty good chemistry there. And when Connor's running

(08:44):
the football is he just did to get them a
goal line situation here. They can be they can be dangerous,
they definitely can, and Kyler is playing pretty confident football.
I still don't know exactly what to make of them,
but I think that goes I think that goes for
every team in the NFC West. I mean, the Rams
and the Seahawks right now are playing in a pretty
important game. And I think I just saw it for

(09:06):
the first time pop up on red zone because nothing
of note has happened to this point, so there's a
lot of there's a lot of stuff, and of course,
with the injuries to San Francisco and just kind of
the inconsistency's there, you've got a shot.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
Well it is nothing. Nothing in the rams Seahawks game.
We'll keep you updated there in the red zone Arizona,
it looks like will be held to three. They had
second in goal. How about this j mart Tyreek Stevenson
with the past breakup on the goal line, so was
paying attention. It appears as though he had his eyes

(09:39):
on the field and that was the second down play
third down, Kyler Murray is sacks. So Arizona is lining
up for a field goal. They're up seven to six,
and as we mentioned the early story, there just a
bizarre situation where the roof was open. We got rain
and hail to start that game. But we'll see what

(09:59):
happen weapons there. The field goal from Arizona is good,
although there are flags on the field. If the field
goal stands, Arizona up seven to six. And again, keeping
the updated on these other games. Philadelphia up ten nothing
on Jacksonville. We're at the two minute warning in that one.
Detroit and green Bay, early second quarter the marquee game

(10:19):
of the day. Detroit up seven to three. Green Bay
does have the ball about midfield. Nine minutes to go
in the first quarter and in the second quarter, excuse me,
and just starting the second quarter, nothing nothing rams at Seahawks.
It looks like by the way the penalty has been declined.
It looks like by it was looks like on sportsman

(10:40):
like conder. Let me see here really quick before we
get to break. Looks like there there was a penalty
on a field goal again Arizona up seven to six,
and we'll see what the penalty was. It looks like
it's the penalty where they tried to jump over the
line of scrimmage. And I apologize if I'm not using
the I mean, is that is that a not on

(11:02):
sportsman like? Is that a legal procedure penalty? I guess
that would be an illegal procedure penalty, right.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
Yeah, I believe that. Yeah, it is a procedure penalty
just because of the danger involved in it.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
Yeah, yeah, so exactly right.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
So there is an a legal procedure penalty on the
Bears jumping over the goal, the goal line or jumping
over excuse me, the line of scrimmage. Arizona does have
a fresh set of downs in the red zone. Three
minutes to go. H Caleb Williams by the way. You
know he might, he might. You know him and Aaron
Rodgers are the co leaders in the clubhouse right now
for most eye rolls at teammates so far this season.

(11:36):
You could see the frustration. Arizona looks like they're about
to capitalize on that one. J Mark James Connor gets
it down to the one yard line. Arizona up seven
to six with three minutes to go. Again, they got
a fresh set of downs on an illegal procedure penalty.
Fox Sports Red Zone Radio ra Torus Jason Martin. We
are filling in for Dan Byer. Carry Rhodes will keep

(11:57):
you updated on these four games, including Arizona.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
On the goal line.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
But I'll tell you what, Jamart, we gotta go to
the early slate and we gotta go to Atlanta because.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
There's weeking eye rolls and speaking I roll.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
You know, there's one person that knows just how bad
the Dallas Cowboys are, and it's Dak Prescott. I know
this is an audio medium, but he said some stuff
on the sidelines that, uh, you gotta you gotta see
the how.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
That's what we'll discuss all that next. Fox Sports Red
Zone Radio.

Speaker 5 (12:24):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio

listen live. Higgins in front of Benson in the backfield.
Two tight ends to the right, Murray barking out the call,
takes the snap, hands it off, Benson running, Leaf dives

(12:47):
into the end zone.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
First first touchdown Trey Benson.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
The one yard touchdown run set up by an excuse
me a penalty, a illegal procedure penalty on the Chicago Bears.
They had held them to a field goal instead, a
new set of downs gives Arizona a touchdown run. Fourteen
to six Arizona leads. That was courtesy of Arizona Sports

(13:11):
ninety eight to seven FM. And this is Red Zone
Radio aeron Taurus Jason Martin. We are filling in for
Dan Byron Kerry Road, who will be back today keeping
the updated on these late games. As we just said,
Arizona a fourteen to six lead, two minute warning in Arizona.
The roof is officially closed after. Of course, there was
some controversy early because of an open roof led to

(13:36):
rain and hail pelting the field in Arizona Philadelphia is
up ten to nothing. They are in the red zone,
just had a touchdown called back on a penalty, but
they do have the ball in the red zone. Third
and seventeen to twenty eight seconds left in the first half.
Not much going on in the rams Seahawks game. Nothing nothing,

(13:57):
nine minutes to go second quarter. And then an interesting
development in the Detroit Green Bay game. J mart As
Brian Branch, who of course is third in the NFL
in interceptions, has been ejected for targeting. So we'll keep
you updated on that. And as I speak, Sa Kwan
Barkley runs in a touchdown. Philadelphia up seventeen to nothing

(14:22):
on the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Speaker 5 (14:23):
JA.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
Yeah, we're not gonna have to pay too close of
attention to that game. We knew that already. We'll keep
you updated on scores, but that was never in doubt.
I don't think the Brian Branch thing, it's huge. That
is big time. He's so critical to that defense. To
lose him in that kind of a division game between

(14:44):
teams that are vying for top spots in the NFC
here right at the mid season mark, that's a big
time that's a big time scenario. And we're gonna to
pay attention to that. On the Cardinals Bears thing. Gosh,
Caleb Williams is upset. I understand. I feel him on that.
Why are you doing that when you know you're gonna
get penalized for it? Like that was the thing that
used to drive Belichick nuts back in the day. He

(15:08):
would just say, no, just stay down. We're not even
gonna try to block kicks because the risk is what
we just saw. You gave him a fresh set of
downs and then they scored a touchdown on you, and
now they lead fourteen to six.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
They lead fourteen six.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
Caleb Williams has the ball two minutes to go, at
about the forty yard line, the Bear's forty yard line.
We'll see if they can make a move. Also, it
back to the Detroit green Bay game for just a second.
Detroit up seven to three and green Bay did just
miss a field goal. Worth noting there is driving rain
in green Bay right now, so the weather is not

(15:42):
ideal there. Philadelphia also, by the way, lining up for
the pat after going up sixteen nothing, Jamart, do you
want to go back to the early games, and again
we will obviously keep you updated. You knows as all
of these games go on, but do want to talk
quickly about the state of the else Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
Cowboys have lost three straight.

Speaker 2 (16:03):
Obviously lost to the Lions prior to the bye, lost
the forty nine ers last week. They lose twenty seven
twenty one today. By the way, Philadelphia's extra point is good.
They're up seventeen to nothing while we're in the NFC
East here. But they lose twenty seven to twenty one today.
Totally deceptive score. It was twenty seven thirteen essentially the
entire fourth quarter. They put in a touchdown with one

(16:25):
twenty eight to go. But the noteworthy thing here one
Dak Prescott was caught on the sidelines saying some words
that your grandmother and your grandpa wouldn't approve of about
the quality of the team. You can find all those
on social media. Dak Prescott does go out with a
hamstring injury, did not play towards the end of the game.
Cooper Rush was in there is you know, Dak said

(16:48):
in the postgame press conference, like it would take something,
you know, it would take something pretty bad for me
to not play next week. But with the loss, the
Cowboys are now three and five Washington and by the way,
improved to seven and two. Philadelphia looks like it's gonna
be six and two by the end of the day,
So Dallas is already three games back in the lost column.

(17:08):
They host Philadelphia next week. In this time, slash Jmart.

Speaker 1 (17:13):
The Cowboys are a mess. It's a disastrous season with
no I mean there's no there's no fix here. There's
nothing that they're gonna be able to do in the
short term to do. This is a lost season. During
the during our break, I went and made a double
ice espresso. And the reason why is because I don't

(17:34):
want to reflect the Dallas Cowboys energy on the radio.
I I it was bad, man, it was really really bad.
They just look completely checked out. I don't even know who.
It's a bigger indictment on I don't know what the
blame pie is. I just know that it is completely unacceptable.

(17:56):
And if I'm Jerry Jones, I'm just I mean, what
is it gonna take to me? The changes that need
to make need to be made, and I'm not saying
you can do them in season. You can't. The season's over.
You're going nowhere this year, But you need to spend
the rest of the season, trying to figure out what
to do going forward because this can't happen again.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
Yeah, it's actually interesting you bring it up because I
know that Jerry Jones has been very vocal about not
making a change in season. By the way, the Detroit
Lions have crossed midfield up seven three four forty five
to go against the Green Bay Packers. Also, Philadelphia can't
decide what they want to do. They lined up for
the pat there was I believe a penalty which put

(18:34):
them on the goal line, so they go for the
tush push two point conversion.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
It is no good.

Speaker 2 (18:40):
So as a matter of fact, I said Philly was
up seventeen nothing, that it's back to sixteen nothing in
that one twenty two seconds before halftime. Also Arizona up
fourteen to six, the Bears crossing midfield in that one
about a minute to go in the first half. But
back to Dallas. So you know, I was thinking about this,

(19:01):
is that Jay, Mary, you and I and everybody in
this building. It's not like you know, you and I
are anything different than everybody else, but we've been watching
sports for our entire lives and listen, sometimes I do
think that sometimes you just need a change for the
sake of change, just to kind of let everybody know
that it can't keep going on like this. And listen,
I speak for a lot of people when I say

(19:21):
I think there should have been a coaching change after
this past off season.

Speaker 1 (19:25):
I would.

Speaker 2 (19:26):
I actually argued they should have made the coaching change
three off seasons ago when they lost to oh then
they lost to San Francisco because they didn't know how
to run the two minute drill and they didn't know
how to spike the football. And I just said, you
have a very small window with all these guys. Ceedee
lamb Michael Parsons on the rookie contract, do you have
to capitalize now? Mike McCarthy isn't your guy.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
I just bring it up.

Speaker 3 (19:46):
I'm not trying to do hot take radio.

Speaker 2 (19:48):
I think for the sake of the you know, I
hate to use this term, and I'm not trying to
be sarcastic or whatever with it, but for the mental
health of everybody in that building. Like what you said
is right. It is so clear that it is a
dumpster fire. It's not all Mike McCarthy's fault. I understand
there are injuries, I understand there's all sorts of stuff,
but as you said, just watching them, it's so obvious

(20:10):
they've checked out. You and I were talking on our
Saturday show last night about how basically the Sunday night
game turned into unwatchable football.

Speaker 3 (20:19):
I just think Jerry's got to make the move. I
think you have to pull the plug.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
The season's lost, but you have to give your Like
I guess I would put it this way, and I
don't go along here, I'll try to be quick, is
that you have to give the fans a reason to
care the rest of the season, a reason to show
up to the stadium for the rest of the season,
a reason to believe that you care as much about
the product as they do. I know Mike McCarthy isn't

(20:44):
one hundred percent to blame, but I'm sorry, I feel
like the move really probably should be made, and I
feel like just to just to show the fans that
you actually care and you're doing something so in.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
This case, it's an optic move, That's what I more.
You just hate, Hey, we understand, we know we also know, Hey,
the rest of the season is probably not going to
work out, but we understand that something has to be
done in the future. So we're just letting you know that.
You know we're invested, don't you know. Don't quit on
us long term, even though you're the Cowboys, and that's

(21:13):
probably not going to happen. But I mean, that's interesting.
I don't think that whatever move you make at mid
season fixes the problem. But I also don't think if
you make that move it's going to harm you either.
So in that case, maybe you do do it because
the net. I don't think that it can be anything
but at least a little bit positive because of the
optics you mentioned.

Speaker 2 (21:33):
Tell you what, j Martin, I do want to talk
a little bit more about about what's going on in Dallas.
They lose today to the Atlanta Falcons, but I do
want to before we do that, toss it over the
news desk first time this afternoon.

Speaker 3 (21:47):
And you got some updates to give us? Manzi Blanios,
what's going on?

Speaker 1 (21:50):
Is there stuff going on?

Speaker 7 (21:51):
Really?

Speaker 8 (21:52):
No, guys, Hi, Hello, happy to be.

Speaker 9 (21:55):
Hanging out with this, I know what radio, but the
biggest Dodgers fan I know, so I appreciate I was
at that.

Speaker 8 (22:02):
I went to the parade because I had to see
what that's like.

Speaker 9 (22:04):
I don't know if my clippers are ever gonna sniff
a parade, so I had to go see what that was.

Speaker 1 (22:08):
Like, can they win in their building first?

Speaker 9 (22:10):
Yeah, that's also see what I mean, Like I don't
even yes, thank you, thank you for reminding me about that.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
I told j mart last night. I don't think I
realized how long it, you know, like because obviously they.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
Won it in twenty twenty. This is the Dodgers, the Clippers.
That was like the last time they wanted home as well,
but yeah, last thank you Dodgers. But like seeing like
Kershaw specifically up there, like this has been and you're
like that guy's been with the organization since like what
seven eight something like that, and he's never had that moment.

Speaker 5 (22:34):
I know.

Speaker 3 (22:35):
He didn't play in the World Series.

Speaker 7 (22:36):
And he said it himself, you know, he was not
part of the group project, but he got the A sure,
there were a lot of like sweet moments, even with
you know, Walker Bueller after like coming back from two surgeries,
not doing well in his first couple of starts to
like come in.

Speaker 9 (22:51):
There was a lot of like a heart little wrenching
moments for me as a Dodgers man, for sure, hey sproke.

Speaker 1 (22:56):
My heart watching Freddy Freeman. Freddy Freeman moment as a
the best moment is a pro in a Dodger guniform.
As a Braves fan my entire life, that's just ripped
my soul out.

Speaker 8 (23:06):
I'm sorry. And but you know, after having the whole
thing with his son and how he came out, Like,
how do you not root for that?

Speaker 9 (23:11):
Like there's there are some stories where if you're just
a baseball or sports fan, you're you know, you root
for for sure.

Speaker 3 (23:19):
You know, it's the biggest start of the parade. Yeah,
show up, listen.

Speaker 1 (23:24):
Keith.

Speaker 9 (23:24):
Aaron Ands came in a close second with that shirt
off as he was partying on the bus.

Speaker 3 (23:28):
I we played. Poor fat Joe was just sitting at home,
just you know, in the studio after.

Speaker 9 (23:34):
Yeah, catching strays for sure. All right, Bellas, let's jack
in on the four games going on right now. The Eagles,
for the first time this season, actually scored points in
the first quarter. For the first time, Jalen Hurts connected
with Saquon Barkley. Saquon Barkley has added another rushing touchdown.
They are blanking the Jags.

Speaker 8 (23:51):
They are just shutting them out. Sixteen zero at halftime.
The Cardinals.

Speaker 9 (23:55):
We've got two different rushing touchdowns, Trey McBride, Trey Benson.
They're up on the Bears fourteen to nine with about
thirty seconds to go in the first half. The Lions
are beating the Packers seven to three, two minutes to
go in the first half. I don't know if you
guys saw wide receiver I'm on Ross Saint Brown arrived
in today's game with a sweatshirt that said Green Bay Socks,
so you know, fighting words before the game even started. Also,

(24:17):
Detroit safety Brian Branch was ejected because of a helmet
to helmet hit.

Speaker 8 (24:22):
Twitter is not happy about it. They do not think
he should have been ejected.

Speaker 5 (24:26):
He is.

Speaker 8 (24:26):
Everyone's very upset about this. But the Lions are up
seven to three two minutes to go.

Speaker 9 (24:30):
The Rams and the Seahawks, well, this is an exciting game.
Let me let me tell you how it's gone so far, guys,
just just so, just so you know, because I want
you to know. Punt punt, interception, punt, punt, punt, punt, punt, punt.

Speaker 8 (24:42):
Four minutes to go in the first half.

Speaker 9 (24:46):
But the Rams did just hit a field goal at
least so they're beating the Seahawks three zero. What happened
earlier today in the world of football Week nine, which
is halfway through the season. That's crazy to think. The
Cowboys lost Dak Prescott in the third inning to a
hamp third inning to two third quarter to a hamstring injury.
They also just lost to the Falcons twenty seven to
twenty one. Was the final score on that one. If

(25:06):
you didn't hear about Ezekiel Elliott's healthy scratch, Jane Slater
did tweet that he has just been distracted. Aside from
habitual tardiness, he missed three team meetings on Friday and.

Speaker 8 (25:16):
That that was the final straw.

Speaker 9 (25:17):
The Bills walked it off with a sixty one yard
field goal from Tyler Bass to defeat the Dolphins thirty
to twenty seven. The Bengals crushed the Raiders forty one
to twenty four. Las Vegas has lost five in a row.
The Ravens crushed the Broncos forty one to ten. Derrick
Henry has officially surpassed one hundred career rushing touchdowns. He
had two today, so he's at one hundred and one.
The Chargers they took down the Browns twenty seven to ten.

(25:39):
The Titans with a twenty to seventeen win over the
Patriots in overtime. The Commanders held on to beat the
Giants twenty seven to twenty two. They figured something out
at the half, New York because they held the Commanders
to just six points in the second half, but they
still won. The Panthers hand the Saints their seventh straight loss,
coming out on top twenty three to twenty two.

Speaker 8 (25:58):
Guys, that's all in football back.

Speaker 3 (26:00):
Thank you very much, Manzi Blanios.

Speaker 2 (26:03):
This is Fox Sports Bread Zone Radio air Tours, Jason
Martin filling in for Dan Byer and Carrie Rhodes. And
while Manzi was giving an update, we got another one.
Arizona Cardinals final seconds of the first half.

Speaker 3 (26:17):
Another one.

Speaker 2 (26:18):
Amari de Marcado fifty three yard rush. He crosses the
red zone, crosses the end zone. Excuse me, with four
seconds left in the first half, Arizona up twenty one
to nine. You know, listen, Jay, you know, I know
we were in the middle of a fire Mike McCarthy segment.
I'm not going to do the fire Matt eberflu segment.

(26:40):
But it's been a bad three quarters for them between
the way last weekended, the illegal procedure penalty that basically
put four more points on the board for the Arizona Cardinals,
and then a fifty three yard run when Arizona was
really just kind of trying to run out the clock
before the half.

Speaker 1 (26:57):
Here, Jmark, Yeah, the Bears have too much talent as
either mediocre or a little below mediocre as they appear
to be. And you look at the future at quarterback
and yeah, there's a couple of other moves that you
want to make. But you got kind of an early
start last year because you were able to do more.
You didn't have to tank because you already had Carolina's pick,

(27:18):
so you were in position to do what you needed
to do. I see no universe where Eberflus is your coach.

Speaker 4 (27:24):
Next year.

Speaker 1 (27:24):
You've got to bring in an offensive mine that gels
with your quarterback, and that's the only the way it goes.
So I expect that that's what will happen in the offseason,
because with all due respect to Eberflus, I don't think
that he he doesn't fit the mode for what you're trying.

Speaker 4 (27:42):
To build there.

Speaker 2 (27:43):
You know, I'll say this, Jmar and I remember talking
with you during the summer about this. By the way,
it is officially half in Arizona twenty one to nine.
The Arizona Cardinals have the lead over the Chicago Bears.
I remember saying this to you in the summer. Is
you know I thought it was the most ridiculous narrative
I've ever heard, this idea that that really popped up
in the middle of talking season, in the middle of
the summer, that Caleb Williams had the best situation in

(28:07):
the history of rookie quarterbacks. And to a degree, I
understood the sentiment of you draft Romadonze, you draft a
left tackle and Darnell Wright. You know, you obviously add
Keenan Allen in the offseason, you add DeAndre Swift. DJ
Moore obviously came over as part of part of that Carolina.

Speaker 3 (28:27):
Trade that you just mentioned.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
I just thought, how can it be the best scenario
ever when you have a coach on the hot seat,
and it's a coach on the hot seat who's a
defensive head coach. We know the dichotomy, We know how
hard it is, especially for young quarterbacks with a defensive
head coach. And listen, I understand the history with the Bears,
and I understand that they're kind of a conservative organization

(28:51):
by nature, one defensive kind of culture. They've obviously never
had a quarterback the capabilities of Caleb Williams, and but
I also just thought, like, I get it, I get that,
you know, Bears weren't terrible down the stretch last year,
but like, I just thought it was a fundamental mistake
to make the decision to bring back Eberflus. You know,

(29:13):
not not because he's a terrible guy or even a
terrible coach, but it's like new regime, new quarterback, just
go the way of so many you know, perfect examples
actually the Arizona Cardinals when it didn't work out with
Cliff Kingsbury.

Speaker 3 (29:26):
But they were like, look, Kyler, you're our guy.

Speaker 1 (29:27):
We're all in.

Speaker 2 (29:28):
We're going to get you a coach that we believe
is going to put you in the best position to succeed.
I just never understood why they didn't do that, And
I think we're seeing the repercussions of it right now.

Speaker 1 (29:37):
Yeah, I'm gonna think that's t Roy. I think it's
not the same kind of situation. But you can sometimes
just guess how something's going to go like Brandon Staley.
That was not something that should have happened last year,
but it did this year. You have a lot to
like in Chicago, but Eberflus is not the guy that's
going to be able to drag that across the finish line.
It's not like you have to have an offensive mind

(29:59):
that really is ready to coalesce with that quarterback and
start scoring points. And there's nothing about Eberflus that says
he was gonna be the right fix for that or
the right match for Caleb Williams. And so I just
look at that and say, this is one of those
mistakes that just okay. I mean, it seems like you
set your rebuild back a year because now you're gonna

(30:21):
have to rebuild under a new coach as opposed to
just getting that fresh start with everybody.

Speaker 2 (30:26):
Well, and I think we're obviously seeing in Washington what
happens when exactly yeah, and and like and and the
other thing too, which I think is kind of interesting
with Chicago, is it just be it comes to be
kind of it becomes kind of a finger pointing thing
where when things go bad, it's like, well, ebra Flus
is trying to do this, but the GMS tied to

(30:47):
this guy, and it's like, you look at Washington is yeah,
I think Jayden Daniels is a special and you know,
maybe in five years we're having the you know, the
Bear should have drafted Jayden over over Caleable whatever. That
that's not the conversation for today. But what's obvious in
Washington is for all the dysfunction throughout the years with
that organization, it was just a completely fresh start, new GM,

(31:09):
new head coach, new offensive coordinator, and so whoever the
quarterback was, whether Caleb Williams felt the number two, whether
it was Jade and Daniels, whether it's Michael Pennix, whether
it's Bo Nicks, everybody was going to be rowing in
the same direction. You see that as the Washington commanders are,
of course seven to two. The Bears right now a
little bit of a train wreck.

Speaker 1 (31:29):
And listen, it doesn't always work because you had urban
Meyer and Trevor Lawrence, so it doesn't always work, but
I think it's a risk that's worth taking. Yeah, when
you have a pick like that.

Speaker 2 (31:39):
Yeah, no, and you can listen, clearly urban Meyer wasn't
the right guy, but the sentiment was right is eger
you said, is like it was everybody going in the
same direction. And right now the Bears are a little
bit of a mess, of course, coming off that loss
last week.

Speaker 3 (31:55):
They trail.

Speaker 2 (31:56):
They trailed twenty one to nine at the half against
the Arizona Cardinals. Keeping the updated Philly Jacksonville. Also at
the half, Philly up sixteen to the Detroit Lions have
added a field goal, up ten to three, under a
minute to go in the first half, and we are
at the two minute warning in Seattle.

Speaker 3 (32:13):
Not allowed to report on Rams up three to nothing
against the Seahawks. Come back.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
Continue the conversation on the Dallas Cowboys. They fall today
to the Atlanta Falcons and on top of that, Dax hurt.
Momentum is low, morale is low. What's next for that team?
What is Is there a solution in that building? We'll
discuss it all next. Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 5 (33:07):
How big is that?

Speaker 1 (33:09):
How pick is that?

Speaker 5 (33:11):
That? Is?

Speaker 1 (33:12):
Ninety seven to one?

Speaker 2 (33:14):
The Ticket Lions Radio Network and the Detroit Lions thanks
to that Kirby Joseph picks six have taken a seventeen
to three lead three seconds to go in the first
half at lambeau Field. Should also let you know a
Geno Smith touchdown pass to Tyler Lockett has given Seattle
a six to three lead in the final minute of

(33:37):
the first half of the Rams Seahawks game. The extra
point was blocked, so six to three is the lead. Also,
Matt Stafford appears to have been intercepted u with about
thirty seconds to go after the Rams got the ball back.

Speaker 3 (33:51):
A flag is on the field. Will keep you updated.

Speaker 2 (33:54):
Second half is underway in Philadelphia. Eagles up sixteen to
nothing on the Jacksonville Jaguars. J Mart's it's interesting you
and I talked last night during our show Saturdays by
the Way eleven to two am Eastern Time, talk a
lot of college football, but also obviously preview the weekend.
The weekend NFL Slate we kind of mentioned, you know,
Jordan Love. He's been phenomenal, but he has been turnover prone.

(34:18):
Came into the three, yes, I was gonna say, came
into today leading the NFL in turnovers. It's also worth
noting for people just joining us, Brian Branch has been
ejected from this game, who is of course third in
the NFL in interceptions coming into today. But we referenced
on our show last night, j Mart, you know, listen,
opportunistic defense for Detroit, and Jordan Love has been very

(34:38):
turnover prone. Another interception, this one returned for a touchdown.

Speaker 1 (34:42):
Yeah, pick six, And now I think that's ten on
the year. Yep, I think he now has matched his
jersey number with interceptions. Now, look he's he just watching
him as they're going into the locker room for the half.
He does look kind of Yeah, he does look a
little hobbled. That groin looks like it's bothering him a
little bit. But ten interceptions, we're at the halfway point
of the year.

Speaker 3 (35:02):
Like that, and the game or two, remember after the
Brazil game to open the season.

Speaker 1 (35:08):
Yeah, that's right, So he's done it in about seven games,
maybe even six. So yeah, that that you're not that's
gonna cost you a championship. Like you get to the
playoffs and you do that, you're gonna get beat. I
don't care who you are. So they've got to find
a way to clean that up.

Speaker 2 (35:25):
I'll tell you, you know, I'll be honest. Is listen,
I'm Matt Lafloor is as good as it gets in
this business. This isn't a criticism. I'll be curious one
after the game. Will probably be off air by then,
but curious if there's any sound for Willard and the
guys after us. I'm just I'm just surprised that the
decision was made to start Jordan Love. I know how

(35:45):
good he is, but groin injuries are one Jay Martin,
especially a guy that can make plays with his legs.
It's just it's a really tough spot. I'm not trying
to defend Jordan Love, but it's a tough spot. The
weather is bad for people just joining us. It is
pouring rain in Green Bay right now. You have a
groin injury. Malik Willis has played well as a backup.

(36:06):
I'll just be curious one if we see Malik Willis
to start the second half, Jordan Love is struggling eleven
or ten of seventeen, no touchdowns, one interception in the half,
Green Bay has they have moved the ball relatively well.
So maybe it's a little presumptuous to assume that we'll
see Malik Willis, but I just think it's a tough
spot to put your quarterback in groin injury. Bad Weather

(36:28):
didn't really practice much this week. I was a little
surprised that it was just so obvious to Matt Lafleur
that Jordan Love would be playing in this game.

Speaker 5 (36:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (36:35):
I mean, look, if you've got a starting quarterback, you
want your starter to play, especially in a game against
a team like Detroit. That's that good. However, if you
put him out there at less than one hundred percent
because he gives you the best chance to win and
then you still don't win, then what did you really accomplish?
So you look at that, and Josh Jacobs in the
first half had you know, ten tots for eighty nine yards,

(36:56):
so he's running the ball pretty effectively. They're creating that
will as we know what he's capable of doing on
the ground as well, and Lafleur has utilized his offense
really effectively. So if it's me, I'm giving serious consideration
to not sending Jordan Love back out there in the
elements to potentially get hurt worse.

Speaker 2 (37:15):
And that's what I'm thinking too. And it's a good
point by you. It's a division game, first places on
the line. Maybe I should have taken that a little
bit more into consideration. I just think the weather the
elements are so bad that I'll be curious if it's
something that they do consider. By the way, deep pass
from Geno Smith to Tyler Lockett after that interception, no
excuse me, Jackson Smith and Jigba, there is a flag

(37:39):
that would put that would put Seattle in the red zone.
Seattle up six to three. They have just intercepted Matt
Stafford deep pass to Jackson Smith and Jigba.

Speaker 3 (37:48):
But we will see what the.

Speaker 2 (37:49):
Call is offsides on the defense. So Seattle, which basically
couldn't move the ball at all for about probably twenty
four or so manyutes of the first half, they did
just score a touchdown. Now they are back in the
red zone thanks to an offside penalty in a completion
from jack Jorge Gino Smith to Jackson Smith and jig,

(38:09):
But real quick, let's stay on this game for half
a second.

Speaker 3 (38:12):
J Martin.

Speaker 2 (38:12):
It's the only one that's still in the first half.
Detroit Green Bay is at halftime, Arizona, Chicago and Philly
Jacksonville are in the second half.

Speaker 3 (38:21):
At FC West.

Speaker 2 (38:23):
Do you feel like there is a clear cut best
team just because it's a wide open division? Obviously we're
looking at it at this slate Right now, all four
teams are tied in the lost column with four losses.
The Rams have played one fewer game, Arizona, San Francisco,
Seattle in a three way tie at four and four.

(38:43):
Do you believe that there is a best team in
this division right now?

Speaker 1 (38:47):
It's tough, it really is. I mean, I think on
paper you'd still probably say San Francisco, but they're gonna
have to stay healthy. But when you look at the Rams,
I think the Rams at full strength can be most
teams in the league because they've got such a great offense.
But I'm not sure they're going to be able to
stay healthy. I'm just not. I mean, it seems like
Nikua is getting dinged up in practice a couple of

(39:07):
times already this year. Of course, he's missed time. Cup
has dealt with injuries in the last few years, so
I'm a little fearful of that. The team that honestly,
to me is most intriguing right now in that division
is Arizona because Arizona is moving the ball, they are healthy,
they seem to be playing very just cohesive football right now.

(39:30):
So I'm kind of looking at Arizona and saying, they've
got a real shot. You know, four and four. They've
got a lead right now, maybe they're over five hundred
at the end of this. They put themselves in a
pretty good spot.

Speaker 2 (39:41):
Yeah, Arizona sitting at four and four, they do have
control of that game against Chicago. Early second half up
twenty one to nine. Seattle and the Rams I did
say Seattle's in the red zone. They're not quite in
the red zone yet. Gino Smith did just complete a
pass to Jackson Smith and Jigba, but Jackson Smith and
Jigba was out of bounds. But now a touchdown to

(40:01):
Jackson Smith and Jigba. There's less than thirty seconds in
the first half. Seattle was up six to three. It
is now twelve three. We'll see if they go for
two or just kick the extra point Seattle up twelve
to three, heading in a half, tell you what jmart
one hour, just flew by, will come back plenty more.

Speaker 3 (40:21):

first game as Green Bay's head coach, and that is
why Dan Bayer is not in today air tours. Jason

(41:28):
Martin filling in for Dan, keeping the updated on these
games this late afternoon window. We'll get back to some
of the early games in just a moment. Big story
since we went to commercial break. As Monci just told you,
a Jalen Hurts run has given Philadelphia a twenty two
to zering lead. Third quarter about to start in Green Bay.

(41:50):
Detroit up seventeen to three in that one. A pick
six was the big play late in the first half
to give the to give the Detroit line that fourteen
point lead. Arizona has the ball up twenty one to
nine seven minutes to go in the third quarter. Chicago
just can't get anything going and at the half Seattle
up thirteen to three. A Jackson Smith and Jigba touchdown

(42:13):
right as time expired gave Seattle the lead. Do you
want to go back to the early game though, early games,
the early slate, I'll tell you this, most of it
went to plan. You know, we were joking before the show,
we need the Dennis Green They are who we thought
they were, because just about everybody was exactly who we
thought they were. But I do want to talk about

(42:37):
an AFC East game that obviously in previous years has
had quite a bit of meaning. That's, of course, the
Bills hosting the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins, of course, are
struggling this year. Tua came back from those concussion issues
last week. They lose to the Arizona Cardinals. They played
today in Buffalo, a place they have struggled, but they

(42:59):
were at it right until the end. Unfortunately, this is
how it ended. If you're a Dolphins fan.

Speaker 10 (43:04):
There's gonna be a sixty one yarder from the left
hash with ten seconds remain, Slap by Ferguson, hold by
Martin kick, My pass is.

Speaker 6 (43:13):
Long enough and it is God Bob's away for Tyler Bass,
who bonds it from sixty one.

Speaker 3 (43:23):
It's a career best for the Bills kicker.

Speaker 1 (43:27):
Unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (43:29):
That was Bill's Radio's Bills Radio Network, and awesome called
Tyler Bass, who had missed an extra point earlier in
the game, a sixty one yard walk off field goal. Jamart,
I want to talk about the Bills in a second,
but let me say this, man, you know, listen, the
two of stuff I understand the discourse around him, if

(43:51):
he should even be out there whatever. I think probably
I've underestimated just how good he is and just how
important he is to this team. Twenty five of twenty
eight two hundred and thirty one yards, two touchdowns, did
have a pass late in the fourth quarter to Jalen
Waddle for a touchdown.

Speaker 3 (44:11):
I just gotta be real, you know.

Speaker 2 (44:13):
I think sometimes we get so caught up in a moment,
we get so caught up in a story, and I understand,
I understand anybody that's saying Tui shouldn't be out there,
and he's thinking about his family or whatever.

Speaker 3 (44:22):
But he's made the decision.

Speaker 2 (44:24):
He's playing for as long as his body allows, and
we all hope that's a really long time. And I
think I probably have undersold how important he is to
that team and how good he is. And it's just
such a shame that, you know, we haven't really been
able to see him very much at one hundred percent
throughout his career.

Speaker 1 (44:40):
I think that's fair. I think that it is magnified
by the fact that the backups in Miami just aren't
very good at all. Like you don't have a competent
backup there. That can do very much for you. But
your overall point is right, Like, I don't know what
the exact ceiling is for Tua when it relates to
a super Bowl, but certainly it just looks it's like

(45:00):
a completely different football team when he is out there.
I think that you appreciate him more while he's absent.
It's kind of like at Georgia they kind of missed
Stetson Bennett. Now, sure, so you look at it with
Miami win two is not out there, you realize how
how much better that team plays and how much more
dynamic that offense is when he's out there. It created

(45:21):
a lot of space for Devin h or Chan to
do his thing too, And so like it's just I
think you're right. I mean, I think it's a really
really good point. Even though they've lost those couple of games,
it's not because Tua hasn't played well enough.

Speaker 2 (45:35):
Yeah, they're two and six right now. One of the
wins they got with Tua in the lineup in week one.
He gets hurt in week two in the first Buffalo
game in Miami, and while he was out they were
one in three, the only win of fifteen to ten
victory over the New England Patriots and then lose by
one to Arizona last week, lose by three on that
Tyler Bass walk off field goal.

Speaker 1 (45:56):
Today.

Speaker 3 (45:57):
The Bills, by the way.

Speaker 2 (45:58):
J Martin a four game lead in the AFC East
standings and or not even through week nine, that we're.

Speaker 1 (46:05):
Gonna clinch it before Thanksgiving.

Speaker 3 (46:07):
I know, Josh, poor Josh. I mean, you know how
many starts do you give him off?

Speaker 2 (46:11):
Because I mean he might not have to play, like
you said after Thanksgiving a four game lead. The Jets
right now at three and six are second player. Sorry,
I can't even get it out without.

Speaker 4 (46:23):
Saying it's horrendous.

Speaker 9 (46:24):
Man.

Speaker 1 (46:24):
The Bills are seven and two, and then the next
best team is three and six.

Speaker 2 (46:29):
That is insane. Bills improved to seven and two. Uh,
do you have any any Bills takes? I mean, listen,
I don't know that there is one four straight wins.

Speaker 3 (46:38):
Listen.

Speaker 2 (46:38):
They haven't beaten the cream of the crop in the NFL.
One went over the Dolphins when Tua got hurt. Cardinals
before they really got it going. Jags, Jets tighten Seahawks.
Probably the two best teams on the schedule at Texans
at Ravens. They ended up losing two, but they are
seven and two. They're running away with the division. Any
any big picture takes on them, I really.

Speaker 1 (46:59):
Think it's just they're one of those teams where I
really don't care until the playoffs because it's the playoffs
where they haven't really been able to get over the hump.
And we know what they're capable of doing in the
regular season, and we know what kind of player Josh
Allen is, and he's been at his best this year.
He's not turned the ball over nearly as much. He
had that crazy streak until last week. He threw another
pick today, But you know, stuff happens. They're going to

(47:23):
be There are a few teams in the league where
I really don't care how good they look in the
regular season. I need to see it in the playoffs.
The Ravens is won and the Bills is the other.

Speaker 3 (47:33):
Yeah, So I agree one hundred percent on the Bills.

Speaker 2 (47:35):
And I was actually even thinking about that during the
game because it was just a game where it was
just a game where you're watching it and they're so good,
and obviously, look, the conversation is about how they match,
how anybody matches up with the undefeated Chiefs right now, Chiefs,
by the way, not playing until Monday night when they
return to the field. Jmart want to do the rare

(47:58):
stay in the division to talk about the New England Patriots.

Speaker 3 (48:03):
Well, I'll tell you what.

Speaker 2 (48:04):
They lose twenty to seventeen, but they forced overtime on
this play.

Speaker 11 (48:09):
The snap, Tom May back two steps, looks to the
end zone. He pumps, he backs up, he slides left,
He looks in the left corner. Now he rolls to
his right. He pulls up in the middle of the field.
Drake May alludes a defender running to his left, look
into the end zone, trying to keep the play alive.
Falling down, he throws to the end zone.

Speaker 6 (48:22):
It's cuts on it touchs Downy Stevens said.

Speaker 2 (48:27):
That was courtesy of ninety eight five, the Sports Hub
and the Patriots Radio Network. J Mart, you're Tennessee Italians.
You live in Nashville. They end up coming back to win.
They kick a field goal in overtime. I'll be honest.
You know Drake May, who we weren't even sure if
he was going to play this week, twenty nine to
forty one passing, he did throw two interceptions, but two
hundred and six yards seventy one percent completion for the

(48:50):
first time in a long time, first time since you know,
number twelve TB twelve walked out. Am I crazy to
think that it feels like there's some actual legitimate hope
at the court for the Patriots.

Speaker 1 (49:01):
No, And I mean I actually interesting that you said that,
because I was going to say, this might have been
the most exciting one play that I've seen from the
New England Patriots since Brady, Like, I don't know that
I can think of anything else that really stands out
to this amount. Maybe I'm missing something from the Mac
Jones era. But Drake May I mean, look, everybody can

(49:22):
have a highlight play, I get it, but there's something
about Drake May where this team. Look, Belichick's been really
good on TV. Okay, and I don't think it's a
surprise to that many people, but he's been better even
than I thought he was going to be. But he
needs to take a lot for the way that this
team is made up. Like you look at girod Mayo
and what he inherited. They got nothing from a skill

(49:43):
position perspective, but you might have it a quarterback. You
might have a quarterback This off season may be one
of the most important that that franchise has seen a
couple of decades, because they got to find a way
to build around him to see just how good he
can be. Because right now, I agree, I thought he
played well last week, and I certainly thought today he

(50:06):
equated himself very well.

Speaker 2 (50:07):
Yeah, and listen, and I think the important thing is skill. Guys,
if you do it right, there are guys that are
available later in the draft.

Speaker 4 (50:15):
You know.

Speaker 2 (50:15):
I'm just look at Tank Dell was a third round pick.
You go on and on aj Brown late first trow like,
there are guys to get. But yeah, they got to
get some help for him. By the way, we have
another score in green Bay. The Detroit Lions now up
twenty four to three a Jamier Gibbs touchdown run early
second quarter. Detroit up twenty four to three. We have

(50:38):
not seen the green Bay Packers yet. We talked about
it before the half, but Jordan Love did throw a
pick six. He is coming off the groin injury. We
assume he'll be back out to start the second half.
I don't think it's certain though, given the weather conditions.
Detroit Lions j mart, I'll tell you, you know, listen. Obviously,
until somebody knocks the head off the Kansas City Chiefs,

(50:59):
it's hard to pick against them.

Speaker 3 (51:01):
But man, oh man, oh man, they are cruising in
Green Bay.

Speaker 2 (51:05):
It is worth doating. Of course, coming off three dominant victories.
That game in Dallas, the game against the Minnesota I
guess wasn't dominant, they did get the victory. And then
of course the Tennessee Titans game last week, where I
believe they set a franchise record.

Speaker 3 (51:20):
They are cruising right now at lambeau Field.

Speaker 1 (51:23):
Yeah, they're killing teams and they look great. If it's me,
I don't put Love back out there. I understand that
you don't want it to look like he got benched
for poor play. I just think at this point and
you don't want to look like you're waving the white flag.
But let's be real, this game's over. Yeah, they're not
coming back, not in that weather. I mean, Matt Lafleur,
they just showed him on the sidelines getting pelted like

(51:45):
he was in a Fraser rerun. Like it was absolutely ridiculous.
He looked miserable. Don't put Jordan Love back out there
in this situation. Just let Malik Willis finish the game
for you. You lose it, it's fine. You know, you're
still going to be six and three, You're still going
to be all right. There's no reward to me in
keeping Love out there to maybe throw another interception or

(52:06):
you know, God forbid some kind of an injury, slipping
on the ground or whatever like that. At this point,
I think you just say, yeah, Lions were better today,
This wasn't our day, and you move on.

Speaker 2 (52:16):
It is worth noting again whether less than ideal coming
off a groin injury. Also, the Green Bay Packers are
going into their by next week. They do not play
next week. They will return to the field two weeks
from today in Chicago, So the Green Bay Packers have
a buy coming up. Keeping the updated on some of
these other scores. By the way, should mention this Jmart

(52:36):
there was a report. You know, we're talking about the
Detroit Lions, how they're a wagon. Obviously, you know, the
only real issue, By the way, we shouldn't mention Brian
Branch was thrown out of that game. So one of
the best defensive backs in all of the NFL is
not playing right now. They're still cruising and Pro Football
Talk did put out a report a few hours ago

(52:57):
the Detroit Lions and Browns have had a discussion on
a potential trade involving Zadarius Smith. Sore more reinforcements could
be on the way.

Speaker 5 (53:08):
You know.

Speaker 2 (53:08):
The one little weak link is, of course, trying to
replace Aiden Hutchinson that that awful injury a few weeks
ago in Dallas and Pro Football Talk talking about a
potential trade to bring Zadarias Smith to Detroit.

Speaker 1 (53:19):
You yeah, Detroit. Detroit right now is just there are
a couple teams in the league that just look different
than everybody else, and I think they may be the
top of the list. I think you could make an
argument for one team in AFC on offense, but I
think looking on both sides of the football, I feel
better right now about Detroit and they run it well.

(53:42):
You look at Jamiir Gibbs and his yards after contact
and the toughness that he runs with whenever he gets hit.
That's exactly what you want. They've got the skill talent
and Jared Goff has just been exactly what the doctor
ordered for them. Like, yes, I understood the trade and
everybody joked about it and all this. They're not joking. Now,
golf's been excellent.

Speaker 2 (54:01):
Jared Goff has been excellent, keeping you updated on the
the other scores. Arizona has kicked the field goal. They're
up twenty four to nine in that one. Second half
has just started in Seattle. Seattle up thirteen to three
against the Los Angeles Rams.

Speaker 1 (54:17):
Tell you what.

Speaker 3 (54:18):
Jmart will come back.

Speaker 4 (54:19):
When we do.

Speaker 2 (54:20):
We'll go ahead and welcome in Adam Kaplan, host of
Inside the Birds. This guy knows more about the NFL
than anybody, and he's gonna have a lot to say
about these birds. The Eagles are up twenty two to nothing.
We'll keep you updated on that one. And Adam Kaplan's
is gonna deliver the heat, gonna give you everything you
need to know about what has already happened will happen
on Sunday and Monday nights. Adam Kaplan joins Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 12 (54:43):
Next bigs be the running back. Two tight ends here
receivers to eva side. Trevor undersenter second and goal from
a one yard line quarterback snake Trevor lower is showing
her into the end zone.

Speaker 1 (54:54):
Touchdown.

Speaker 12 (54:55):
A one yard touchdown run by Trevor Lawrensman and the
Jags in the end zone for.

Speaker 1 (54:59):
The first time today.

Speaker 2 (55:01):
Welcome back everybody, Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. Dan Byer
and Carrie Rhoads are out. Aaron Torres, Jason Martin are in.
We're gonna get to Adam Kaplan in just a second.
But we talked about a pretty major update. When we
went to break, Philly was up twenty two to nothing. Well,
you just heard the Trevor Lawrence touchdown run that is
courtesy of Jags Radio Network, a two point conversion. Then

(55:24):
on the ensuing drive, Saquon Barkley fumble deep in his
own territory was returned by Trevon Walker. I thought it
could have been ground caused the fumble, but apparently I
don't know what I'm talking about. Score by Jacksonville. The
two point conversion is good. Jacksonville was down twenty two
to nothing. That Jay Bart when we went to break,

(55:45):
it is now twenty two to sixteen. Twenty two to
sixteen in Philadelphia.

Speaker 1 (55:51):
J Martin, where is the That escalated quickly SoundBite because
man twenty two to nothing and we were just kind
of joking about how there was no game to really
even be discussing we could just kind of tune out
of it. Well, here's the.

Speaker 4 (56:04):
NFL for you.

Speaker 1 (56:04):
It did kind of look like the ground calls the fumble,
but I don't know. Twenty two to sixteen after the
two point conversion, that's nuts. I mean, this thing looked
not just partially done, it looked all the way done.
And now it's a one possession game.

Speaker 3 (56:20):
Well, I'll tell you what.

Speaker 2 (56:21):
There is literally no one on planet Earth outside of
maybe Nick Sirianni better to break down that play and
the state of the Eagles in general than Adam Kaplan.
He is, of course, our Fox Sports Radio NFL insider
host of the Inside the Birds podcast. Adam, let me,
let me get to it. I know you're joining us.
Did you see the Saquon Barkley play.

Speaker 4 (56:40):
Yes, it did.

Speaker 2 (56:41):
Do I have a misinterpretation of what ground caused the fumble?

Speaker 4 (56:44):
Means?

Speaker 13 (56:44):
Well, see, Barkley gets touched when he was running and
when he was in the air, and I thought that
because the ground can't cause the fumble, he took a
couple steps, then hit the ground and the ball came out.
I thought the ball was dead. Yeah, I at first
I was like, well, wait a minute, wasn't he down?

(57:06):
And then I saw the replay like, ooh see, I
don't know what the rules in terms of how many
steps you could take after you go down and then
then it would be called dead. So that that by
the way, look, this is crazy. The Jaguars are thirty
one yards of offense total offense in the first half.

Speaker 4 (57:22):
I did not They couldn't do anything. They looked terrible.

Speaker 13 (57:25):
I know Jaguar fans of social media wanted Peterson to
stay in Philly after the game, but that's not going
to happen. But all of a sudden, in fact, the
spread was seven and a half. All of a sudden,
the Jaguars are in this game. They shouldn't be, but
they are.

Speaker 4 (57:38):
The Eagles.

Speaker 13 (57:39):
AJ Brown has a knee injury. Barkley heard his thigh
but it came back. It's yeah, it's been a really
it's been a wild day. There's no question about it.
This game in Philly. The Jaguars are holding on just
to stay stay competitive. Right now, right now they are
What do.

Speaker 1 (57:56):
You think of Trevor Lawrence Adam Like, I mean, we
could talk about Doug Peterson or should have plenty of
experience there, but I think Trevor Lawrence is the more
interesting conversation.

Speaker 4 (58:04):
At this point, he was.

Speaker 13 (58:05):
Probably one of the most overrated quarterbacks. I could say
covering in college just for the draft generational was this
total nonsense. I said this on FSR when it came out.
I'm like, I don't know where people a getting this.
It's a nice quarterback. He's very good in college. But
if you grade his tape in college, you go, well,
I don't see a lot of ton of NFL type throws.
And it turned out to be true. It's a nice player.

(58:26):
He's somewhere between above average and good. If you were
if you were if you were just ranking them, you
probably put him somewhere in the top twelve to fourteen.

Speaker 4 (58:35):
He's not a top ten quarterback.

Speaker 1 (58:36):
To me.

Speaker 13 (58:37):
He's a nice player, but nothing special. He just was
vastly overrated. Now he went to a market where, you know,
it's a very small media market one and smallest in
the National Football League, and he kind of came the
man there. But I would just say, vastly overrated again
in the upper half, but nothing special.

Speaker 2 (58:54):
Adam Kaplan joining us are Fox Sports Radio NFL Inside
are also the host of the Inside The Birds podcast,
Arizona's taken a twenty seven to nine lead on Chicago.
Adam know you have sources all over the league. Don't
want you to burn anybody or anything. But it feels
like Maddi Eberflu's you know, defensive coach, how the game
ended last week?

Speaker 3 (59:14):
The offense is struggling one.

Speaker 2 (59:17):
You know, we know that the Bears are historically kind
of a conservative franchise in terms of moving off coaches quickly.
One doesn't feel like he'll be back next year. But
did the Bears make a mistake even not just starting
this regime fresh the way that say Washington did with
the dan Quinn, Cliff Kingsbury Jaden Daniels experience over there.

Speaker 13 (59:35):
So I reported this for Profoble Network. Let's say last spring.
So Kevin Warren the new team president. He came from
the Big Ten and Warren used to work for the Vikings.
He also was an agent at one time. He was
involved in contract negotiation for the Rams. So what I
was told was by Son's work with him, he's going
to be heavily involved in football operations. Any big decision

(59:58):
he wants to be involved, he won't make it. In
terms of personnel, but he'll make it if there's a
coaching change.

Speaker 4 (01:00:04):
I mean that that's just it's gonna come down to him.

Speaker 13 (01:00:07):
And yeah, I mean the Eberflows had to make the
playoffs pretty much is the way I've understand to return
in twenty twenty five, and looks like they're going to
lose it and go to four and four, and there's
obviously a residual effect and for that total choke against
the Commanders, So it's not good. Yeah, I think it's fair.
Nothing's done yet. They got to get to the end
of the season, but it does not look good. Now

(01:00:28):
look at four and four, assuming that the game holds
like it is, and it seems like it's going to
they're still an inn for a wild card spot, but
not well, certainly not well. The bottom of the NFC
is much stronger than the bottom of the AFC.

Speaker 1 (01:00:41):
Right now, the Vikings or sorry, the Lions look really
really good. Well, the Vikings look pretty good too, but
the Lions look really really good. In the Packers, Jordan
Love got hurt in the first game of the season.
He's playing today hurt as well, but he's got ten
interceptions at him. He got paid big time money in
the offseason. We understand the economy of the twenty twenty
four NFL. Well, is it just a function that that

(01:01:02):
defenses have gotten more tape on Jordan Love or was
he a little bit overrated?

Speaker 4 (01:01:06):
No? I think what happened there was that he was phenomenal.
Number one.

Speaker 13 (01:01:11):
He was the best quarterback of the NFL second half
of last season. And he's forcing throws that are really
not there and he's just gotta stop doing that. That
that's it's a lot of.

Speaker 4 (01:01:21):
It's been on him, as I understand it, and that
that's just he's got a curbit.

Speaker 5 (01:01:25):
Uh.

Speaker 13 (01:01:25):
The interception for the pick six was terrible today. I
don't know what he was looking at that. That's that
one was really bad. Like, that's as bad as it gets.
And you gotta you gotta put it on him. Yeah,
and then you know they look bad today. They're they're
getting they're getting smoked at home in the rain there
by the way. The Eagles just turned the ball over
and this game, this game is unbelievable, man.

Speaker 4 (01:01:48):
Uh.

Speaker 13 (01:01:49):
And I I could tell you from being these games
at Philly, the fans will turn on the on the
team like.

Speaker 4 (01:01:54):
That in the game.

Speaker 3 (01:01:56):
Well, tell you what Adam.

Speaker 2 (01:01:57):
Adam Kaplan he is, of course, the host to the
Inside the Birds podcast, just gave you the update that's
worth noting. A Jalen Hurts interception, it appears is a
little maybe it touched the ground.

Speaker 3 (01:02:08):
Yep, we'll see.

Speaker 2 (01:02:09):
But again, Philly was up twenty two to nothing yet
looks like it's going to be overturned. But they were
up twenty two to nothing. Touchdown for the Jags. Then
a Saquon Barkley fumble deep in Philadelphia territory sets up
a second touchdowns. All of a sudden, it's twenty two
to sixteen. That touchdown has been overturned. Also, we do
have a touchdown in the Rams game. Seattle still up

(01:02:30):
thirteen to ten, Adam, trade down, trade deadline coming up,
and I know that a lot of teams still feel
like they're in the mix.

Speaker 3 (01:02:37):
But what are you hearing?

Speaker 2 (01:02:38):
What are the more interesting developments that could come out
the next couple of days?

Speaker 13 (01:02:42):
All right, So here the teams that I put out
on sports Cort today. Cardinals looking for past rush out
the number four seed. They're clearly are going to win today.
They're going to go to five and four. Didn't see
this coming, they hold the number four seed. Didn't see
that Chiefs, believe it or not. The Chiefs are still
looking for help at wide receiver. The Commanders, I'm told
they've actually they've they've looked into I was told j C.

(01:03:05):
Horn the Panthers, the Panthers from Winderston, they're not I mean, look,
they don't want to trade jac Horn. I mean, this
is one of the building block players that they have.
But yeah, and they're also looking for receiver help that
they need that. Falcons looking for edge rusher help, Lions
looking for edge help. That's going to happen by Tuesday,
that'll definitely happen. And Steelers, as I put out two

(01:03:26):
weeks ago, Steelers are trying to get Mike Williams from
the Jets. They actually were going to host him for
a free agent visit. Now the Jets not signed him.
So that's some of the stuff on as we get
to close to Tuesday at four pm Eastern. And those
are the teams who are looking to make moves, and
obviously other teams can do it. Eagles, if they do anything,
might be an edge rusher. But yeah, that's that's pretty

(01:03:48):
much it right now.

Speaker 1 (01:03:51):
Nick Sirianni, what's your take right now? I know that
Eagles fans are driven nuts by some of the decision making.
You can go back to that Saints game and I
think you had your four questionable decisions in that game alone.
But you're still looking at a team as five and
two entering this game. How concerned are you about the
leadership of the Eagles on the sideline?

Speaker 4 (01:04:10):
Not much. The players love him.

Speaker 13 (01:04:12):
I think what happens is that he kind of embarrasses
himself with some of the antics that then bring these
kids on to postgame press conference. It doesn't bother me,
but I know it bothers a lot of people. He's
there was a time when they played the Chiefs a
couple of years ago at Kansas City. He was jawing

(01:04:32):
with Chief fans. He can't do that. He was wrong
with Eagles fans. Can He had to apologize. I think
he might have been made to apologize. But anyway, just
stuff off the field, This child of stuff. The guy's
a heck of a football coach. I mean, he for
as many games as he's coached, he's a winning coach
in Eagles history, so percentage wise, and they've got one
of the best road records as he's been coaching the

(01:04:54):
National FOOTB League. Guys are good coach, it's just the
other x, this other stuff I think people could do
with that.

Speaker 1 (01:05:00):
I watched it, well, sorry, I watched it up close
and personal today because I'm a Broncos fan. Baltimore's offense
and I do this show out in Nashville. So I
watched Derrick Henry, you know, his entire career up to
this point. Is there anybody that can stop Baltimore's offense
when it is on?

Speaker 4 (01:05:18):
This is crazy? So I was with the Ravens and
training camp and no one of their coaches who came
over to me. He goes, what do you think. I'm like, Wow,
it's interesting.

Speaker 13 (01:05:24):
I said, it's it's hard to see the marriage between
Lamar and Henry so far. He goes, trust me, He goes,
you need to be here more. There's some days where
we literally have no idea how we're going to stop
because Scut's a defensive coach. He goes, we have no
idea how we're going to stop those two. Now they
got off to a slow start in the regular season,
and now teams have no idea how to stop at

(01:05:45):
their passing game is dynamic.

Speaker 1 (01:05:47):
You know.

Speaker 13 (01:05:47):
The feeling with the Titans was as I put out
doing free agency last year, where they actually tried to
trade him last year as they thought that Derek lost
a half a step. Again, it's debatable, and he looks
unbelievable now with that's somewhat Vegan die like myself. So
I'm rooting for him. I've an avocado a day, which
is comical that I do. I love avocado, But so.

Speaker 3 (01:06:06):
Could you over your career rushing touchdowns if we see.

Speaker 13 (01:06:08):
Yeah, I know I've zero, although I'm I'm willing to
get hit for fifty grand if they want to, Dude,
I could use it. But no, it's an unbelievable strip.
But my concern for the Ravens is their secondary has
been awful. Yeah it the defense has struggled. That's my
concern with them. But real nice win today. They got
the job done, you know in the end, and look,

(01:06:29):
they're they're going to be their force because.

Speaker 4 (01:06:31):
This this actually might be the best offense they've had
with Lamar.

Speaker 13 (01:06:34):
They're by the way, you got to say, is there
anyone who's better right now running for the MVP?

Speaker 4 (01:06:40):
I cannot have anyone let me let me.

Speaker 3 (01:06:41):
Actually ask you on that, Adam, this will be the
last one for me.

Speaker 2 (01:06:44):
Jared Goff is there with the completion percentage, is there,
There's got to be an argument at least for him,
right he's in it now.

Speaker 13 (01:06:51):
They don't throw the ball up because they get these
big leads. It's crazy. I mean, the other week had
eighty six years and three touchdowns. It's hard to magic.
But Lamar the dual threat. I mean, he is unbelievable.
It's really hard to stop him and no one's been
able to do it. But something happens in the playoffs.
I don't understand it. He's very mediocre in the playoffs.

(01:07:12):
As a supporter of Lamar's and I vote for two poles,
one of the for the Pro FOOTBA Writers Association.

Speaker 4 (01:07:18):
He's right now. He'd be in my bout.

Speaker 13 (01:07:19):
We don't hand it in right now, obviously, but he
got would certainly be right up there, though I would
agree with that.

Speaker 2 (01:07:25):
He is Adam Kaplan, host of the Inside the Birds
podcast and of course our Fox Sports Radio NFL Insider,
Last last last one, Any just thoughts in general, an
intriguing Sunday night game. Joe Flacco. We know is getting
the start. Just any any last thoughts before we head
into that one.

Speaker 4 (01:07:41):
It's a great story.

Speaker 13 (01:07:42):
You know, it's unbelievable that I'm told no other team
offered Joe Flacco a deal to even be.

Speaker 4 (01:07:48):
A backup the just one, just the Cults.

Speaker 1 (01:07:51):
How is that possible?

Speaker 13 (01:07:52):
I know if this league is ridiculous, Like that's really bad.
I'm glad you said that. That's embarrassing. Like this league
has a big problem developing backup quarterbacks. The Browns were
not making the playoffs without him last season, and that
was obviously a mistake that they didn't bring him back.
Boyd Winston looked bad today. He looked great last week
against Baltimore. He was his old thirty for thirty self

(01:08:13):
the bed thirty for thirty.

Speaker 4 (01:08:15):
As I deemed it. Then, Yeah, I'll leave that. I'll
leave that alone. But that was bad today. He did
not play well, all right.

Speaker 2 (01:08:22):
Adam Kaplin hosted the Inside of the Birds podcast our
Fox Sports Radio NFL insider. Adam, we always appreciate you
making some time. Dan and carry will be back next week,
but thank you for joining us and we'll chetsum see you.
That was Adam Kaplan, host of Inside the Birds podcast.
There's some stuff to update. John, Let's get over the
news desk. Manzi Belanios, what is trending?

Speaker 8 (01:08:41):
I can't stop watching the Saquon video, the backwards hurdle, No, no, no,
the fumble because so I keep watching it.

Speaker 3 (01:08:48):
What do I understand about the rule?

Speaker 9 (01:08:50):
So I'm assuming they think he wasn't touched and it's
hard to see, but it looks like somebody swipes out
his legs and that causes him to fall. And then
it does not look like the ground causes the fumble,
but he is not touched from that point on, Like
the ball just looks like it comes out of his arms,
but he does look like it's somebody.

Speaker 8 (01:09:11):
Swipes out his legs to cause him to fall. So
is he touched or is he not?

Speaker 9 (01:09:18):
I don't know.

Speaker 8 (01:09:18):
I don't have answers. I keep watching it.

Speaker 3 (01:09:22):
Yeah, that's when I know. I'm like, okay, I'm not
going crazy.

Speaker 8 (01:09:24):
No, everyone is wondering the same thing. It's like, what
explain why this was a fumble?

Speaker 9 (01:09:29):
He wasn't touched, But it's like, but the swipe happened
again in lifetime, maybe it just looks different.

Speaker 8 (01:09:34):
But once he does fall, nobody touches him, So you know,
like that that is that did happen?

Speaker 1 (01:09:40):
But what a game.

Speaker 8 (01:09:41):
Yeah, the Jags are totally in this one, guys. I
also thought it was over. He goes still on top
twenty two to sixteen.

Speaker 9 (01:09:47):
Jags have the ball to start the fourth quarter at
their own thirty four yard line and it's thirty and
one for them. It's still all Cardinals against the Bears.
The Bears have been interesting this season, up and down,
but the Cardinals seem to be in a groove. They're
up twenty seven into nine early in the fourth quarter,
Lions making it look easy once again. Jordan Love's still
in the game, but Lions are up twenty four to six.

(01:10:08):
They're about to end the third quarter. Green Bay currently
has the ball at their own thirty five yard line,
and then the Rams and the Seahawks.

Speaker 5 (01:10:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (01:10:14):
Pookinaku was ejected after it appeared that he threw a
punch at Tyrell Dodson.

Speaker 8 (01:10:18):
This was right after Matthew Stafford threw an interception. Have
you seen the video. I don't know if it's a punch,
I don't know.

Speaker 9 (01:10:25):
There was a little bit of a of an interaction
with Tyrell Dodson, and it caused Pokinakua to get ejected.
Seahawks have scored. They are up on the Rams thirteen
to ten with about four minutes to go in the
third quarter. Still later today, cold set Vikings Cam Robinson
is expected to play from Minnesota tonight. He was traded
just a couple of days ago. In college football, the

(01:10:45):
AP pole the latest one week eleven, Oregon is in
the top spot once again, Georgia coming in at number two.
Ohio State in at three, but Miami did move up
one spot to number four. Texas moved up one spot
to number five. Penn State dropped three after losing for
the first time this season. They're in at number six.
Tennessee is in at seven, Indiana jumped five spots into

(01:11:06):
the top ten, Notre Dame at ten, byun at nine,
And the last one I'll mention is SMU climbed seven
spots from twenty to a season high thirteen, So not
too shabby.

Speaker 3 (01:11:17):
Back to you guys, Debby, Thank you very much, Mauch Jez.

Speaker 2 (01:11:20):
By the way, if anybody wants some college football coverage,
j Mart and I host Fox Sports Radio eight eleven
pm Eastern to two am Pacific eleven PM Eastern, two
am Eastern eight Pacific to eleven Pacific. The podcast is
available on the Fox Sports Radio Weekends Feed. Talked a
lot of college football on last night's show, but it

(01:11:41):
is Red Zone Radio. Dan Byer and Carry Rhodes are out.
We're gonna come back when we do. We got to
talk about that Ravens offense, j mart because they are
humming at the highest level once again. Took care of
business and there's no slowing down. Oh, by the way,
I think the Bears just got to the Cardinals just
got a safety on the Bear. So you didn't think
things could get much worse for the Bears. Yeah, give

(01:12:02):
it some time. Bear Zera train Wreck will come back,
discuss a team that is it, the Baltimore Ravens, as
well as keep you updated on everything else going on
right now. This is Fox Red Zone Radio. Welcome back everybody,
Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. Aer Torres Jason Martin broadcasting
live from the Tyreck dot Com studios. We are in
for Dan Bayer and Carrie Rhodes. Dan is in Stillwater, Oklahoma,

(01:12:28):
where Doug Gottlieb will make his debut as Green Bay's
basketball coach.

Speaker 3 (01:12:32):
Tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (01:12:33):
Doug will also host The Doug Gottlieb Show alongside Jay
stew and Dan Bayer at Eskimo Joe's from two to
four Central Time.

Speaker 3 (01:12:42):
If you are in the still Water area.

Speaker 2 (01:12:44):
Keeping the updated a little bit quiet. Not a lot
has happened since we went to break. The Arizona Cardinals
did get a safety. They now lead twenty nine to nine.
Seven minutes left in the second half, and Arizona has
the ball. They have a four down at about the
twenty eight yard line or so. It does not look
like they got it, but that would have chewed up

(01:13:07):
an immense amount of clock. Philadelphia does have the ball
eleven thirty left, up twenty two to sixteen. If you're
just joining us, Philly was up twenty two to nothing
a score by Jacksonville plus two point conversion, then a
Saquon Barkley deep Saquon Barkley fumble deep in his own
territory set up a second touchdown and a second two

(01:13:27):
point conversion to make it twenty two to sixteen. And
in Green Bay, Jordan Love is still out there up
twenty They're trailing twenty four to six. I'm tripping over
my words here, but Detroit is up twenty four to six,
thirteen minutes to go. And if you're wondering why I
say he's still out there, it is because it is

(01:13:48):
pouring rain. He has a groin injury, he has struggled,
including a pick six, and so I would assume j
Mart thirteen minutes left if they don't score here.

Speaker 4 (01:14:00):
Maybe not.

Speaker 2 (01:14:01):
I mean, I was gonna say it's probably the last drive,
but I mean, you know, I think it's maybe a
little presumptuous to say that, but I do you know,
I'm with you. I think it is a little bit
surprising that he is still out there, and I kind
of actually question why he is at this point because
it is pouring rain in Green Bay right now. By
the way, Seattle also up thirteen to ten as we
close out the third quarter in Seattle.

Speaker 1 (01:14:22):
Yeah, I mean, it's easy for us to say, I
understand that your QB one is your QB one, but
at the same time, the risk at this point, like
it just feels like this is not your day. If
you score here, Okay, we can have a different kind
of discussion, but the rain, the groin injury, you're just
asking for trouble at this point. And that I think

(01:14:44):
is the long term future of the team is much
more important than this one game. I understand how important
it is within the division, but there's still a half
of a football season left, and Jordan Love's already missed
time to start this year, and now he has the
groin coming off of last week, so I feel like
you need to be more cautious with him, especially as
you mentioned, he has struggled and Detroit's offense or Detroit's

(01:15:06):
defense has been all over him.

Speaker 3 (01:15:08):
And they got to buy next week too.

Speaker 1 (01:15:09):
That's right, so you get you get the bonus of
you know, give him he only played a half and
then he gets more time to try and come back strong.

Speaker 2 (01:15:16):
By the way, we do have an update in Seattle.
The Rams have kicked a field goal at his tied
thirteen thirteen twenty seven seconds to go in the third quarter,
and right on cue I was going to say, look
like Jordan Love appeared to have Christian Watson deep, but
he overthrows. I was gonna say, of course he's going
to complete the deep touchdown or the deep throw. Right
as we say that, he should be pulled, but it's
an incompletion. Green Bay is going to punt the ball

(01:15:40):
with thirteen minutes to go. Assume that Detroit if they
go on a clock killing drive. I just at some
point you got to be smarter about this.

Speaker 3 (01:15:48):
But we will see.

Speaker 2 (01:15:49):
Jmart did want to get back to a team that
the three of us, you, me and Adam talked about
a minute ago. That's the Baltimore Ravens. So Baltimore wins
today forty one to ten against you were Denver Broncos.
But the story is this offense just continues to roll.
Three of their last five games, They've put up forty
points six of their last seven. They have put five
of their last six excuse me, they have put up

(01:16:11):
at least thirty. They're rolling their hum and Adam said
he was at training camp and wasn't sure how the
Derek Henry Lamar Jackson marriage would work. Well, it is
working like gangbusters. This team is rolling and they are
putting up points at will.

Speaker 1 (01:16:27):
Yeah, and they're gonna have to.

Speaker 5 (01:16:30):
You know.

Speaker 1 (01:16:30):
We Monci gave us the update on the eight people
and said that Miami had moved to number four. Miami
cans score fifty every week, Like that's almost something that
is going to be a shock if it doesn't happen.
It's kind of the same way with Baltimore. We know
Baltimore can score, the questions can they stop anybody? And
that's what Adam Kaplan talked about was the secondary in
particular has been suspect this year, and they've teams have

(01:16:52):
been able to run on them as well. I mean,
I was just looking at the status as you were talking.
Their fourth in yards allowed this year, and I think
they maybe number one in terms of passing yards given
up per game. They're given up two hundred and eighty
point nine that's entering today. So it helped a little
bit because Denver wasn't able to do much against them.
But that's the thing that can get you in the playoffs.

(01:17:12):
But the offense, I just I don't know how you're
supposed to stop that. If the synergy is there between
Lamar Jackson and Derek Henry, and it already appears that
it is, and Lamar is throwing the ball, in my opinion,
better than I've ever seen him throw it, I don't
know what you're supposed to do because either one of
those two guys could be deemed a cheat code, and
you have two of them, and both of them can

(01:17:34):
hurt you in multiple ways.

Speaker 3 (01:17:35):
Both of them can hurt you multiple ways.

Speaker 2 (01:17:37):
By the way, keeping things up to date, the Green
Bay Packers did complete a fourth down conversion to keep
the clock and to keep the ball moving. They have
crossed the fifty yard line. They trail twenty four to
six at lambeau Field, eleven minutes left. Jordan Love playing
on that bad growing in really bad weather again. Seattle
and Los Angeles are tied, and the Philadelphia Eagles a

(01:17:58):
touchdown past two. Avante Smith has given them a twenty
eight to sixteen lead. Nick Sirianni is motioning for the
two point conversion to make it a two score, two
touchdown lead, seven forty three to go. You talk about
we'll get back to Baltimore in a second, j Mart,
But you talk about a game that you had it

(01:18:19):
in control, and Adam talked about this is in Philly.

Speaker 12 (01:18:22):
Ooh.

Speaker 2 (01:18:23):
I think Devontae Smith's knee was down out of bounds.
I don't know if he got both feed in. We're
gonna have to wait on this. It was a great catch,
but we will see the knee landed, and it looks
like it landed a s I don't know I'm gonna
I'll let Mike Pereira and Dean Blandino figure that one
out because that's a little too close for comfort. But

(01:18:43):
Adam Kaplan did talk a little bit about how quickly
that city will turn on you. Uh if if you know,
if you lose a game like this. It looks like
the touchdown is gonna stand. Philadelphia's lined up for the
two point conversion. So that's a big one.

Speaker 3 (01:18:57):
J Mark.

Speaker 2 (01:18:57):
They had to they they gotta close out this when
it looks like Philly, if the touchdown holds, will do
just that.

Speaker 1 (01:19:04):
Yeah, the knee was out of bounds. I'm a couple
seconds behind you, but the knee is out of bounds,
but I think both feet also were in bounds. I think,
so that's out. That's just a crazy great catch. He
he made two really special catches on that drive. Hurts
hit him deep to get them in position, and then
he catches the touchdown here, brings it in, grabs it
with the right arm, and then snags it back in

(01:19:25):
with the left like that. He's he could be really special.
And now he's nearing one hundred yards on the game.

Speaker 2 (01:19:30):
Yeah, so so what the touchdown was good? As J
mart said two feet were in before the knee landed
out of bounds. There was a two point conversion.

Speaker 3 (01:19:39):
That is no good.

Speaker 2 (01:19:40):
There was a penalty on the play on Philadelphia. So
Philadelphia has the twenty eight to sixteen leads seven forty
three to go. Got to be feeling pretty good.

Speaker 1 (01:19:50):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (01:19:51):
By the by the way, the Chicago Bears just turned
the ball over on downs down twenty nine to nine
with four minutes to go. I feel bad for Caleb Williams,
man Jam that might be an hour reconversation because poor
Caleb Williams is just not getting very much help. Tonight,
Arizona has the backup in for Kyler Murray, So Kyler
Murray's day is over. Fox Sports Red Zone Radio Air Tours.
Jason Martin filling in for Dan Byron, Kerry Rhads. We'll

(01:20:13):
come back. We'll look ahead to Sunday night as well
as everything else that's happened today.

Speaker 2 (01:20:19):
Welcome in everybody our three Fox Sports Red Zone Radio

Speaker 3 (01:20:23):

Speaker 2 (01:20:28):
Dan is joining Doug Gottlieb of The Doug Gottlieb Show.

Tirec dot com The way tire buying should be Jmarch.
Since Maazi's update, we got some stuff going on in
the world. In the NFL, A Cameron Kitchens pick six
has given the Rams the lead. It was thirteen thirteen

(01:21:10):
in Philadelphia. A pick six has made it nineteen thirteen.
The extra point is good. The Rams up twenty to thirteen.
I could be mistaken. I believe it's the first lead
that they've had all game long. The Lions. We are
under eight minutes in Green Bay. They are closing out
the green Bay Packers up twenty four to six.

Speaker 1 (01:21:30):
Can I just pick six? But that was not just
a pick six. That was like one hundred and three
yard pixel. It was so funny.

Speaker 9 (01:21:36):
It's literally on the screen between the Rams and the
Seahawks game, they put up a graphic and it said
that the Seahawks had the higher possibility of winning.

Speaker 3 (01:21:45):
Oh wow, as it was happening.

Speaker 8 (01:21:46):
As it was happening, and then the pick six happened, and.

Speaker 2 (01:21:49):
Then the pick six, and you said, j mart was,
I don't know if you've seen it, Maazi, I think
it was like one hundred plus yard intersection.

Speaker 1 (01:21:55):
He caught it in the end zone and he was
near the painted area there in the middle, so I'm
thinking it had to have been about one hundred and three.

Speaker 2 (01:22:01):
Well, we'll keep you updated on that. The Rams do
have the lead again, lines trying to run out the clock.
About seven minutes left in that game. And in Philadelphia,
the Jacksonville Jaguars, a Trevor Lawrence touchdown run has made
the score twenty eight twenty two extra point pending. We
will see what happens here.

Speaker 1 (01:22:20):
The story in this game.

Speaker 2 (01:22:22):
Philadelphia was up twenty two to nothing in this game
third quarter. A touchdown run, two point conversion and then
a Saquon Barkley fumble deep in his own territory gave
Jacksonville a short field and they turned that score from
twenty two to nothing to twenty two to sixteen.

Speaker 3 (01:22:40):
In the drop of a hat.

Speaker 2 (01:22:42):
Philadelphia has come back and scored, and then Jacksonville did
just score, they did kick the extra point, so twenty
eight to twenty three, four minutes left in Philadelphia. By
the way, we do have a final in Arizona. Just
a game that is just so forgettable if you're a
Bears fan. Twenty nine to nine the final in Arizona,

(01:23:03):
a game where nothing really went right at all for
the Chicago Bears as they fall to four and four.
Coming off a disappointing loss a week ago, not much
not much changed in Arizona this week.

Speaker 4 (01:23:18):
Jmartin No.

Speaker 1 (01:23:20):
Last two games for Chicago have got to be really
deflating for Bears fans, after the way Caleb had looked
in a couple of games prior to that, and just
kind of it started to trend in the right direction,
not because Caleb had been playing poorly, but because it
did seem like that team was coming together a bit.
And now you're seeing those same flaws reemerge, not necessarily
in Caleb specifically, but just that team appears rudderless on

(01:23:44):
the sidelines, they I just don't think they've got the
right leadership. We've talked about that ad nauseum today.

Speaker 2 (01:23:49):
Yeah, Caleb Williams finishes this game twenty two to forty one,
two hundred and sixteen yards passing. Most of it came
when the game was long over three of fourteen third
down conversions for the Chicago Bears.

Speaker 3 (01:24:02):
Weird game.

Speaker 2 (01:24:03):
You know, they give up a touchdown run in the
final seconds of the first half. There was the weird
weather stuff in Arizona where the roof was open. It
starts raining and hailing. Just a disaster for the Chicago Bears.
And Jay mart I want to switch gears to Dallas
in a second, but I just think, listen. I know,
I know it's early in the season. I know you're
four and four and at one point you were four

(01:24:24):
and two. But you look at the wins. You know,
Titans are terrible, the Rams were obviously very banged up
when you played them. Panthers and Jags are your other wins,
And I just what you said is right. I just
I can't see a scenario where where Eberflus is back
next year. I know, by the way, that was a

(01:24:44):
one hundred and three yard interception right there, you go,
nailed it. One hundred three yard interception return from Cameron
Kitchens has given the Los Angeles Rams a twenty to
thirteen lead. But you know, to go back to the
Chicago Bears is you know, I know it's not in
the Bears DNA to fire anybody in the season. And
we're going to talk about another potential mid season firing
in a minute that probably won't happen, but should. But

(01:25:06):
it's just so obvious Matt Eberflus is the guy. I
still go back to what I said in the preseason.
I just I don't understand why you bring him back.
Defensive head coach, new quarterback, young quarterback, You spent draft
capital on a wide receiver. You just got Darnell right
last year. You obviously bring in DJ Moore, you bring
in Keenan down, all these guys over the last two years.

(01:25:29):
Whoever that offensive mind is. I'm not saying I have
the answer as to who it should have been. But
to run it back with Matt Eberflus, I think was
a mistake and I think they're paying the consequences of
it right now.

Speaker 1 (01:25:41):
Yeah, you know, it's easy for us and it's easy
for people in our jobs to call for other people's jobs.
It really is, and it's at the same time it's
something that you don't want to do. And in the
case of Matt Eberflus not knowing him at all, the
only thing that I can say to back up what
you just argued, and I agree with you, is that

(01:26:03):
there is no evidence whatsoever that any of the successes
that we've seen from the Bears this year, and any
of the successes that you would expect from them going
forward based on Caleb's development, his cooperation with DJ Moore
and Robadunte and some of the guys in that offense,
there's no evidence that any of that is going to
be attributed to Maddie. Reflues like that, to me is

(01:26:27):
the biggest thing, Like you need to bring an offensive
mind in there, because that's where your bread is going
to be buttered. When you have a number one pick
and you bring in a guy that could be as
transcendent as a Caleb Williams, you have to do everything
you can to set them up for success while he's
on that rookie contract. And that's what you've got right now,
and you have wasted one year of that.

Speaker 3 (01:26:48):
Well, and that's exactly what it is.

Speaker 2 (01:26:50):
You have the quarterback of the future on a rookie
contract and there's nothing else to add.

Speaker 1 (01:26:55):
You just nailed it.

Speaker 2 (01:26:57):
You did waste a year of that, that whole set up,
by the way, Jordan Love is still in laboring through things.
Detroit up twenty four to six. In green Bay, Jordan
Love has had a forgettable game. Green Bay two of
ten on third downs, Jordan Love with a pick six.
Green Bay's moving the ball reasonably well in the second half,

(01:27:19):
but I think Dan Camble is smartly just trying to
do enough to just get out with the victory. It
doesn't have to be pretty. But Detroit does have that
twenty four to six lead under five minutes to go,
and in Philadelphia we are closing in on a two
minute warning. Philly does have the ball up twenty eight
to twenty three. There, you know, they're playing it's weird.

(01:27:40):
J Martin like they're playing good football and they just
can't put the Jacksonville Jaguars away.

Speaker 3 (01:27:48):
You know, it's just a strange game in.

Speaker 1 (01:27:50):
That pure eye on is what I'm thinking, Like every
time I like it should be over, It should have
been over. Three or four different times, and the fact
that it's not makes you wonder if we're going to
be having quite a discussion in about fifteen minutes.

Speaker 12 (01:28:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:28:02):
By the way, Saquon Barkley, who did have that fumble
that's set up the second touchdown, has been phenomenal today.

Speaker 1 (01:28:08):
He has been great.

Speaker 2 (01:28:09):
Twenty five carries, one hundred and fifty yards, one touchdown.
He's averaging sixty yards per carry against this Jacksonville defense.

Speaker 1 (01:28:17):
So and he's got another like fifty as a receiver
in a touchdown to go with that. So, like I
think he's over two hundred scrimmage yards and two touchdowns
in the game.

Speaker 2 (01:28:25):
He is, and they're just trying to chew it up.
And by the way, just picks up another another big
run as hurdles another guy stays in bounds. That should
take us to the two minute warning, unless Jacksonville calls
a time out. Philly up again twenty eight to twenty three. That,
along with the Rams Seahawks game, is the most competitive
in this window. J Mart really quick as we await

(01:28:49):
the two minute warning. In Philadelphia, Let's go to their
once mighty division rivals, who are mighty no longer Dallas
Cowboys lose today. It's an embarrassing fashion. Final scores twenty
seven to twenty. But they scored a touchdown with under
two They scored two touchdowns really in the final few minutes,
or excuse me, a touchdown in the final few minutes.

(01:29:12):
And it was a game that was not competitive.

Speaker 3 (01:29:16):
They were not good.

Speaker 2 (01:29:17):
Now, Dak Prescott appears to have a hamstring injury, and
I just bring it up because again, twenty seven to
twenty one is the final score. Like I said, Dallas
scores a touchdown with basically under two minutes to go
to make it look respectable.

Speaker 3 (01:29:30):
It was not close.

Speaker 2 (01:29:31):
Dallas is now three to five. Dak is heard, CD
is unhappy. Micah Parsons isn't playing. I do see this
a a late quote from Jerry Jones says he'll quote
mole upgrades but will not give up on the season.
I think it's time to give up on the season,
and I think it's time to stop worrying about upgrades

(01:29:53):
right now.

Speaker 1 (01:29:53):
Yeah, like, okay, you don't have to give up on
the season.

Speaker 5 (01:29:57):
Jerry.

Speaker 1 (01:29:57):
Just note that America has, yes, like it just just
understand that the rest of us have because again, like
watching that today, they just look like they're already on
an island somewhere in the offseason, like they just seem
checked out. Dak's on the sidelines, and he's as classy
of player as you'll find, and he's just over it.
He's just super frustrated out there. You got Micah Parson's

(01:30:20):
making more news on his podcast than he is on
the field right now. And that's a lot cuter when
they're winning. Talk to Draymond Green about it, same kind
of thing could be true there. But they just there.
They're a bad football team. They're probably the worst team
in that division with the and the Giants are also
in that division. Let's not forget that. And there's just
there's no circumstance where you see a turnaround. There's nothing

(01:30:44):
positive to look at and say, oh, well, at least
they've got that right now. Not really almost nothing whatsoever.
So again, you can go ahead and feel how you feel.
Just understand, Jerry that the rest of us have indeed
given up on the season. On your behalf.

Speaker 2 (01:30:58):
Well, j Martin, I'll tell you what I do. Want
to stay with the Cowboys, but back to their division rivals.
J Mart's direct quote was keep an eye on this game.
It's gonna be weird. Philadelphia up five again. They were
up twenty two to zero. It's now twenty eight to
twenty three. They line up for a field goal. A
fifty seven yard field goal goes off the upright, which

(01:31:22):
would have given them an eight point lead, right around
the two minute warning. There's two minutes eleven seconds left,
so Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars now have the
ball at right around midfield. A touchdown would win it.
To eleven left in the game. It looks like they
have all three of their timeouts if needed, plus the
two minute warning, and so a game that you literally

(01:31:45):
said less than probably five minutes ago, keep an eye
on it.

Speaker 3 (01:31:49):
It's getting weird in Philly. J Mart, it's getting weird
in Philly.

Speaker 4 (01:31:53):
Fifty seven is a.

Speaker 1 (01:31:54):
Long field goal. I mean, Jake Elliott is an excellent kicker,
but shure, I mean, you just handed pretty good field
position back to Jacksonville. I don't know that you question that.
I mean, fifty seven is a kick that a lot
of NFL kickers can make. But that's a one possession game,
and there's two eleven left, and let's keep our eyes
exactly where they were prior to that kick.

Speaker 2 (01:32:14):
Let's keep our eyes tied to that one again. Philadelphia
had a twenty two to nothing lead in this game.
It's now twenty eight to twenty three with as we
approach the two minute warning, it is going to be
third and ten. Tell you what, Jamart want to come
back and kind of continue the conversation on the Cowboys.
We didn't, you know, we didn't really get into it

(01:32:35):
because there's so much still going on. We'll come back,
We'll talk more about the Cowboys. They follow three and five.
Dak Prescott is hurt. The season is essentially over. Even
as Jerry says that he's willing to mold changes. There
is a lot going on in Dallas. There's a lot
more to breakdown. We're gonna do all that.

Speaker 3 (01:32:52):
Next. This is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio again.

Speaker 1 (01:32:56):
A four man rush.

Speaker 3 (01:32:57):
Gino Smith set the laces, bounce his throws.

Speaker 1 (01:33:00):
Middle Bobble penershptad picked off on the logo right at midfield.

Speaker 5 (01:33:05):
Who else? Jalen McCullough a takeaway machine.

Speaker 1 (01:33:10):
The rookie has four.

Speaker 2 (01:33:14):
Another Geno Smith Red Zone pick that was courtesy of
Seahawks Radio Network again there was earlier a Cameron Kitchens
one hundred and three yard interception return. The following drive,
Geno Smith throws another pick six, Yet somehow Seattle is
still in the red zone with the ball and a

(01:33:36):
chance to tie this game up. They're up twenty to thirteen.
By the way a dramatic final in Philadelphia, the Eagles
were up twenty eight to nothing. They were up twenty
two to nothing.

Speaker 3 (01:33:48):
Excuse me.

Speaker 2 (01:33:50):
Jacksonville scored sixteen points in a short amount of time.
They score a touchdown to Saquon Barkley. Fumble deep in
their own territory sets up another touchdown two point conversion.
A missed field goal at twenty eight to twenty three
gave Jacksonville a chance to win. Trevor Lawrence throws an
interception in the end zone to Nakobe Dean, and the

(01:34:11):
Philadelphia Eagles survive j Mart. They survived, They win. They
improved to six and two. It is their fourth straight win.
Credit where it's due. It wasn't always pretty to get there.

Speaker 1 (01:34:23):
Though, Yeah, And it's not gonna matter ultimately because in
the NFL it's not about style points. It's just about wsnls.
So you look at the Eagles, and they're still six
and two, and it was not pretty and they probably
should have lost. Not a great interception, not a great throw,
and especially you've gotten them down that close. But the

(01:34:43):
Eagles were within an eyelash of finding a way to
lose that game. So Sirianni may have been saved a
bit because I imagine some would have questioned the fifty
seven yard field goal attempt that Elliott missed that gave
the Jacks good field position there. But all's well, that
ends well, I suppose if you're Nick Sirianni and the Eagles,
because again six and two, and the offense again does

(01:35:04):
look pretty good, but definitely some things that you leave
kind of scratching your head about and you just kind
of are are happy that you escaped.

Speaker 2 (01:35:13):
The Eagles do escape again the twenty eight to twenty
three final score. By the way, we are coming down
the home stretch in Green Bay. The Detroit Lions are
in victory formation a twenty four to fourteen win. J
Mark Jmart might as well have the Detroit Lions conversation, Uh,
you know, four straight impressive win. You know they're sitting

(01:35:34):
right now obviously atop the division at six and one.
But three weeks ago they destroyed the h Dallas Cowboys
by the way, third straight win at lambeau Field, which
is kind of an interesting stat as well. Destroyed the
Cowboys a few weeks ago. They beat Minnesota in a
divisional game. They destroyed Tennessee last week, and then really

(01:35:56):
destroyed probably isn't the right word, but because they did
have a pick six but basically kept the Packers out
of the end zone until late in the fourth quarter.
Detroit Lions are a wagon right now, Jason.

Speaker 1 (01:36:06):
They are.

Speaker 4 (01:36:07):
They absolutely are.

Speaker 1 (01:36:08):
I mean the difference between them and some of the
kind of chic, boutique teams that we've seen, especially in
the NFC in the last few years, that just sort
of emerge and then here's this young hot coach or
whatever was I mean, Dan Campbell was a reacher at
a bit because he had had that time in Miami.
But I think the difference is they're not soft. They're

(01:36:29):
the opposite soft because of Campbell's kind of mode. But
the real difference is not that the offense is functioning
on a high level. We already saw that. The difference
is that the defense is really doing the job. They're
getting after guys. Even without Aiden Hutchinson, they are still
causing serious ruckus in the backfield. For quarterbacks, they're playing
well down the field as well. They are because of

(01:36:51):
both sides of the ball, the best team in the
NFL right now.

Speaker 2 (01:36:56):
I mean it sounds like a bold statement, but I
don't think it is, because, as you said, both sides
of the football. Obviously, Baltimore's offense is playing at an
elite level. The Ksey defense is playing in an elite level.
I don't think anyone's playing better on both sides of
the ball than the Detroit Lions right now. They get
the win over the Green Bay Packers again. The final

(01:37:17):
score in that one is twenty four to fourteen. Again,
it's just it sounds more competitive than it was. They
get the win going away. By the way, having a
little bit of internet issue here in the studio, so
I'll try to stay as up to date as I can.
J Mart do want to get back to the Dallas

(01:37:38):
Cowboys really quick. Cowboys. As I said before the break,
Jerry Jones in the postgame did say that they are
mulling upgrades. They're not giving up on the season. Listen
for people just joining us. You know we are filling
in for Dan Byer and Carry Rhodes.

Speaker 3 (01:37:52):
I said it earlier.

Speaker 2 (01:37:53):
I'm of the opinion, and certainly everybody's welcome to disagree.
I would fire Mike McCarthy now, would to fire my
mcarthy a long time ago. But but independent of that,
I would fire Mike McCarthy for the sole reason you
have to give your fans a reason for hope this season.
When I say hope, hope is relative, I get it,
But that fan base, I don't know. Unless you just

(01:38:17):
paid for your tickets and you just can't afford not
to go, what is the reason to show up?

Speaker 1 (01:38:22):
Right now?

Speaker 2 (01:38:22):
The team is three and six, they're struggling, by the way,
they still have two games against Philadelphia, two games against Washington.
They're not anything resembling a playoff team. And it's just
I mean, I think that sometimes you just have to
make a change just to let everybody know, like, like
I don't know, just to put a little fear into

(01:38:43):
people in the building.

Speaker 1 (01:38:44):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:38:44):
I don't know what the ants, I don't know, but
I just I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:38:48):
I'm rambling a little bit, but I just feel like,
to me, you just gotta do something. You can't keep
going on like this, And I'm sorry, you can't tell
me that in week nine or at the halfway point
of the season that this is going to go on
or this should go on the way that it is
for another eight weeks in this season.

Speaker 1 (01:39:06):
I mean, it's very much an optics move if you
make it now, because the season there's not going to
be a fix here. You're not coming back, you're not
going to make the playoffs. It's a lost year for
the Dallas Cowboys. So if you do make the call
that you are suggesting, it is fully an optic decision. However,
I think it signals to your fan base what you

(01:39:27):
have seen from our organization is not acceptable. Like, we
understand that it's got to be better, and we are
committed to that end. We want to see it be better.
We're going to do the things necessary to make it better,
and we're going to accept that punishment now and say, look,
we thought that this was going to work out. It

(01:39:49):
did not, so we're going to indicate we're making a
change for the future. You just put an anairum guy
in for the rest of the year, and then you
look at the gropa candidates and you make the best
hire that you possibly can. And I think the other
decision you're gonna have to start making is Dak Prescott
and some of the other players on this team. But
the biggest problem, certainly, I think, is just you don't
know where to turn for anything good about the Dallas

(01:40:13):
Cowboys organization right now. Not that there's not talent on
the field. I mean Lamb and Parsons and Presscott, and
there are guys to look at, certainly, but there's nothing
right now where you're just like, they got a coach
that you like, They've got an offense that you like,
they've got a defense that's stacked all like, yes, you've
dealt with injuries, but everybody does, and nobody cares. Like
nobody's gonna care about that. In the end, I think

(01:40:34):
the optics of making a change at mid season, even
if that means, yeah, we're waving the white flag on
this year. We understand this is not going to change
the world, but it does signal that something big is
in the offing for the Dallas Cowboys organization going forward.

Speaker 2 (01:40:50):
Dak, by the way, has a hamstring injury. Let me
ask you this. I I know that you're kind of
in cahoots here. But obviously you know Mike McCarthy's got
to win games. We know his contract basically expires at
the end of the season. But Dak Prescott, you know,
he's got a lot of money left on his deal,
and I don't see the upside into winning right now.

(01:41:11):
If you're well, I guess Jerry Jones says, you know
they're quote molling upgrades and they haven't given up on
the season. If I'm Jerry Jones, I don't know that
I want Dak Prescott to rush back. I don't think
it's the worst thing to lose some games, improve your
draft position, do what you gotta do.

Speaker 3 (01:41:24):
I don't know. I just it's just a weird setup
right there.

Speaker 2 (01:41:27):
And I think the thing too that stands out to
me because of the contracts, the way they're set up,
there's just no obvious fix, right. It's not one problem.
The defense stinks, the offense stinks. Outside of CD Lamb,
you have no real skill position talent, You have no
run game. We all know that Dak is overpaid, but
how much of it is really Dak's fault with what's

(01:41:48):
around him? So there is no real fix. But like
I said, I just think the Mike McCarthy thing to
me and at least tells your fans, hey, listen, this
is not acceptable. Somebody has to be held responsible for it,
even if there's ultimately not really all that much you
can do.

Speaker 1 (01:42:03):
Yeah, I mean, I think that's I think that's all accurate.
I just think that it just hasn't It's just not
their year. The coaching situation. It's not that McCarthy is
a bad football coach, but there's nothing particularly special about
him in twenty twenty four either, and you have so
many other question marks. And you also have a division

(01:42:23):
where right around you the Eagles were already better than
you were, and now the Commanders too. And I mean
I'm not saying that like are they No, we know
that they are. But the question is how long are
you going to allow that? Because that dude that's their
head coach was your DC YEP for the last couple
of years when your defense was rolling, And now everything
has fallen apart around you and you've still got the

(01:42:46):
same head coach that you had at that point in time.
So at what point does something need to change? And
I think the answer is right now.

Speaker 2 (01:42:53):
Well, that's that's what's got to be concerning, is you know, listen, Philadelphia,
you've kind of they've been your equal the last few years.
But to Philly's credit, they did just win a fourth
straight for people just joining us. They took they held
on against the Jacksonville Jaguars twenty eight, twenty three. But
Philadelphia was kind of your peer. But Washington was laughing.
And you know that's part of the thing too, is like,

(01:43:14):
you know, and this was why one, I just obviously
wasn't a fan of bringing back Mike McCarthy, but then two,
I also just thought the Dax stuff was a little
bit you know, I get why they did it, and
I know there would have been a market for him,
et cetera. But it's like, how many of those wins
in Dak's career have come against the Giants and the
Washington Commander slash Redskins when they just stink. And so

(01:43:36):
it's like, now, Okay, Philadelphia's rolling, and now Washington clearly
has their quarterback of the present and future and is
in great shape for the next decade plus if things
go to plan, and it's like, I just it's just
so bad. And again, it just goes to what I said,
it is sometimes you do just need to make a
change for the sake of change. Sometimes you do just

(01:43:58):
need to make a change. Let your fan base know, Hey,
we understand your frustration. You're paying your hard earned dollars
to watch a very poor product right now. And so
to me, I don't know if you have anything else
to add on this this topic, Jmar, but it's just
you got to just do something to let everybody know. Uh,
you know that that that this this, this is not acceptable.

Speaker 1 (01:44:18):
Yeah, I mean I think at this point, if you're
a Cowboys fan, at least you got Luka Doncic and
you can check out what Klay Thompson is doing in
a map. Texas football is pretty good. Yeah, that's that's true. Yeah,
that's true. Texas Texas. Last night they might still be Yeah,
there's some things. Hey, Smu, there you go. You got
you got some stuff happening in the state, just not

(01:44:39):
not your NFL team because they're really bad.

Speaker 3 (01:44:42):
Well, i'll tell you what.

Speaker 2 (01:44:44):
Manzi a few hours ago told us a little bit
about Smu joining the top twenty five. So Mantzi, give
us some good Dallas news that doesn't involve the Cowboys
because they sure do stick.

Speaker 8 (01:44:53):
I do have Dallas News. Actually it's about the Cowboys
that was just tweeted.

Speaker 9 (01:44:57):
Apparently Cede Lamb is dealing with the right ac joint
shoulder issue. We saw him step out of today's game.
They did lose to the Falcons, as you guys were
talking about. He went back in, so they're hoping it's nothing,
but he will have an MRI to see if he continue.

Speaker 3 (01:45:11):
He grabbed that shoulder, actually did, and he.

Speaker 9 (01:45:12):
Stepped out I think for a little bit, but then
he went back in. So he is dealing with something
and they're gonna have an MRI to see exactly how
bad it is, but they're hopeful it's it's nothing.

Speaker 5 (01:45:21):
We do have.

Speaker 2 (01:45:22):
Can I just say one thing really quick. I'll say
this and you can jump in on this conversation too.
Is this is if Jerry Jones actually had a backbone. Yes,
this is the perfect time fire. Mike McCarthy basically shut
down the season that way. You can't Mike McCarthy can't
claim well, I didn't have Dak, I didn't have this,
I didn't have that. Let Dak take his time, Let
ce D take his time. You lose some game. You're

(01:45:43):
not catching Washington seven and two Philly or uh, yeah,
they're seven and two. Philly is six and two. You're
not catching them. Fire Mike McCarthy, have a backbone, get
a good draft lance, Yeah, why not?

Speaker 1 (01:45:56):
See.

Speaker 9 (01:45:56):
I think what you're describing is an owner who wants
to win. And I don't think Jerry Jones cares about winning.

Speaker 2 (01:46:02):
He cares about winning on his terms because he's the
GM and he knows what he's doing and you don't.

Speaker 1 (01:46:06):
And I cares about he doesn't care about winning. He
cares about winning, and Jerry Jones correctly, he cares. He
cares about his name more than anything else.

Speaker 9 (01:46:15):
Like he's still he still owns the most profitable sports
franchise in the world.

Speaker 8 (01:46:19):
Like he's fine, he's chillen. I don't think. I don't
think he cares about really winning the way maybe others
do well.

Speaker 2 (01:46:27):
I think he cares about winning, but on his terms.
Like I said, he's got to be the GM.

Speaker 1 (01:46:31):
But then that's how do you care? How can you
say he cares about winning winning too strongly? When you
kept Jason Garrett for like, I don't know, thirty five
years as your head coach, does he cares about winning.

Speaker 3 (01:46:40):
On his well, I told you Mike McCarthy should have
been fired.

Speaker 2 (01:46:42):
I believe, I truly believe in my heart of hearts
after that game when they didn't know how to run
a two minute drill that every team from p on
up practices and Dak Prescott didn't know how to spike
of football. Yeah, yeah, there's a lot of I mean
he won, he won ten game, twelve games, three straight years,
and like, I don't care.

Speaker 3 (01:46:59):
They're not well coached. You can freaking see it every
time they take the field.

Speaker 8 (01:47:02):
Just just and they lost again today in case you
guys miss that to the Falcons. We have one game
going on right now.

Speaker 9 (01:47:06):
It's between the Rams and the Seahawks, and this one
has just been back and forth, emotional for the fan bases.
I'm sure the Rams are up twenty to thirteen with
about seventy five seconds to go.

Speaker 8 (01:47:18):
The Seahawks have the ball at midfield.

Speaker 9 (01:47:21):
Rams trying to control the clock here, so they think
I think they called the time out, trying to force
something here. But the Seahawks do have the ball around midfield.
It's second and ten again, about seventy five seconds to go.
The games that I've wrapped up in this afternoon window.
The Lions improved to seven and one after outscoring the
Packers twenty four to fourteen. I agree you guys said
it looked like it was a lot closer. In reality,

(01:47:42):
it was the Lions who really won the entire game
from beginning to end. I'm on Ross Saint Brown will
probably wear that sweatshirt again. That says Green Bay Socks
after today's victory. The Cardinals improved to five and four
with a twenty nine to nine win over the Bears.

Speaker 8 (01:47:55):
Is another one.

Speaker 9 (01:47:56):
It was Cardinals the entire way. Kyler Murray didn't throw
a touchdown pass, but they still won. He threw for
one hundred and fifty four yards and they had three
rushing touchdowns. The Eagles, oh that was messy, but they
held on to beat the Jags twenty eight to twenty three.

Speaker 8 (01:48:09):
A wild game.

Speaker 9 (01:48:10):
Philadelphia proofs to six and two, and for the first
time they actually score in the first quarter this season.
Jalen Hurts, though, did a little bit of everything. He
threw for two hundred and thirty yards two touchdowns. He
also has sixty six yards and a touchdown on the ground.
So yeah, Eagles improved his six and two. They did
lose AJ Brown, just something to keep an eye on.
They did lose AJ Brown in this game in the

(01:48:30):
second half to a knee injury and he never returned.
So again, just something to keep an eye on the
games that happened earlier. Today, you guys were talking about
the Ravens and their offense. They are now six and three.
They crushed the Broncos forty.

Speaker 3 (01:48:41):
One to ten.

Speaker 9 (01:48:42):
Derrick Henry now has a total of one hundred and
one career rushing touchdowns. He had two and today's win.
Lamar Jackson threw for two hundred and eighty yards and
three touchdowns. Joe Burrow threw for five touchdowns. He did
have a pick six, but it didn't matter. The Bengals
also crushed the Raiders forty one to twenty four. Las
Vegas has now lost five in a row. The Bills
walked off with the sixty one yard field goal from
Tyler Bass to beat the Dolphins thirty to twenty seven.

(01:49:05):
The Chargers defeated the Browns twenty seven to ten. The Titans,
with a twenty to seventeen went over the Patriots in overtime.
The Commanders held on to beat the Giants twenty seven
to twenty two. They improved to seven and two, and
the Panthers. I don't know why I got so happy
for Bryce Young, but I did. You got to right,
like the Panthers. They hand the Saints their seventh straight loss.

(01:49:25):
They come out on top twenty three to twenty two.
Bryce Young one hundred and seventy one yards, one touchdown.
He did have an interception in the game, But so
happy for him. And I got to give you a
little NBA news because why not. Paul George expected to
make his season debut for the seventy six.

Speaker 1 (01:49:39):
Ers on Monday. See Your Boy beat just Shove it reports.

Speaker 8 (01:49:42):
I yes, but apparently the reporter like said some things
about him.

Speaker 5 (01:49:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:49:46):
Me and J Martin had a little bit.

Speaker 1 (01:49:47):
We gonna argued about that last night because I was
on the beach side.

Speaker 8 (01:49:51):
I you know, I it's hard to tell. I think
I would also be on in beat side. I feel
like that would upset me.

Speaker 3 (01:50:00):
Well, what did you see?

Speaker 5 (01:50:00):
What?

Speaker 3 (01:50:01):
He what the reporter said?

Speaker 8 (01:50:02):
It was about his dead father and his sons the
same name.

Speaker 2 (01:50:06):
Basically, the reporter was quoting MB but probably took it
a step too far by the way, quick update, do
you mind if I go for here, Froncie, we do
have a potentially game tying score looks that way in
Seattle Jackson Smith and Jig. But by the way, they
converted a fourth down Gino Smith to Jackson Smith and
Jig but he just hit him with fifty one seconds

(01:50:27):
to go. Twenty to nineteen is the score. Seattle was trailing,
so obviously an extra point ties it. If they go
for two, that could potentially win it.

Speaker 8 (01:50:35):
Don't go for two, just go for one at all.

Speaker 2 (01:50:37):
By the way, really quick, should the Patriots have gone
for two today? I feel like they should have thought
they should have.

Speaker 1 (01:50:42):
Yeah, uh huh.

Speaker 8 (01:50:43):
There's times where you're like, why did you do that?
But I do think the Patriots should have gone for too.

Speaker 1 (01:50:46):
The only reason I think, the only reason they might
not is because Tennessee's offense is so not special. Sure
that you feel like your defense, if your Girad Mayo
might be able to get the football back anyway and
you can still win it. So maybe that's why you
do it. But I still on the road. In that situation,
when you're the record they have, I think you have
to go for two.

Speaker 9 (01:51:05):
Yea and the extra point is good for Seattle, so
it is an official tie game between the Seahawks and
the Rams. Fifty one seconds to go, tied at twenty
in Seattle. But yes, Embiid nice, so really quick.

Speaker 2 (01:51:15):
I'll just try to paraphrase the column quoted Embiid, where
Embiid said, you know he's play he's trying to create
a legacy for his son, and his son is named
after his late brother. Yes, and so the column said
if mb really cares about his legacy, which he said
he did based on his son, who oh, by the way,

(01:51:36):
is named after the brother. And so I think where
where j Mar and I were last night. I don't
believe he intentionally like put the extra part about the
dead brother to like poke Embiid, like he put it
in for context, but it was probably a line that
he didn't need to put into the article. It didn't

(01:51:57):
add anything to the article. So I understand where Embiid was.
It's not like a embad was wrong. It's just I
don't think the reporter did it maliciously as some sort
of dig or cheap shot or whatever to m beat.

Speaker 9 (01:52:11):
I haven't looked further into it, but I read that
it was not the first time that reporter did this,
and that Embiid said that to him be true. That
he was like, you've done this before, and so maybe
that's why. And I also think, you know, it's like
a lot of people have been criticizing Embiid. Oh, so
he's probably just on edge and that that is like extra.
But if he's done it more than once, true, No,

(01:52:31):
that's fair, you know, And that part I had not heard.
And I will say we were talking about it last night.
I know a couple buddies that work in.

Speaker 2 (01:52:37):
Philly, that live in Philly, that work in the media,
and it's it's kind of at a teetering point with
that organization where and you know, if you know, Manti
covered the NBA like MBI came out and basically said,
I'm not playing back to backs the rest of my career.
And it's like, dude, you were just in the Olympics.

just a joy. Wow.

Speaker 2 (01:58:33):
He even got a clap from Mary in the back,
so you must have done well, so congrats. But anyway,
all right, one game left, Indy at Minnesota tonight. Obviously
Minnesota coming off two straight losses. Indy Joe Flacco, as
Adam Kaplan told us, the only team that pursued Joe
Flacco even as a backup in the offseason.

Speaker 3 (01:58:49):
He gets to start. What are your thoughts on Sunday night.

Speaker 1 (01:58:52):
Football hobby terrists to see how they play. I think
you'll see a lot of Jonathan Taylor most likely, and
maybe Flacco will give him a little bit more space
to to do his thing. But Minnesota is a better
football team, a deeper football team. They're better on both
sides of the ball, and they get TJ. Hawkinson back
for the first time this year. I think that matters.
I think they'll get right tonight and win.

Speaker 3 (01:59:11):
Yeah, I think so too.

Speaker 2 (01:59:13):
You kind of get the pseudo bye week playing on
Thursday night, tough loss. Kind of like you said, I
got a couple guys coming back from injury and then
also just playing really good football. By the way, did
a terrible job here. The one remaining late window game
is now in overtime, the LA Rams and the Seattle Seahawks.
There's eight minutes left in overtime. This one's been a

(01:59:35):
weird one. Gino Smith a one hundred and three yard
pick six is what gave Los Angeles the lead. Then
Seattle drove down length of the field, converted a fourth
down and got it.

Speaker 3 (01:59:45):
Got it. We got to get out of here.

Speaker 2 (01:59:46):
Want to thank the crew, Mary producer Pat Monzi for
Jason Martin. I'm Aaron Torres. Thank you to Dan Byern
Kerry Rhodes for letting us fill in the guys will
be back next week. Coming up next Mark willard E
from Salam. You know that they got a lot on
what's already happened, plus the Sunday night game. This is
Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. Appreciate everybody tuning in.
