Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Living the dream once again here on a fully loaded
NFL Sunday. This is Red Zone Radio and we are
broadcasting live from the ti rack dot com studios.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
Tyrack dot com.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
We're gonna help get you there hond on match selection,
fast reshipping, free road asser protection, over ten thousand recommending
installers ti rag dot com the way tire buying should be.
We have seven games about to kick off. Patriots at
the Bears, Bills at the Colts, Broncos at the Chiefs,
Falcons at the Saints, forty nine Ers at the Buccaneers,
Stealers at the Commanders, and Vikings at the Jaguars, and

(00:36):
Richie one game of the books, an absolutely dreadful game
between the Panthers and the Giants, and I got to
ask this question whether or not the Panthers could actually
be responsible for firing of head coaches in consecutive weeks.
Dennis Allen, as we predicted on air after losing to
Carolina with New Orleans, we knew he was going to

(00:57):
be shown the door. He was well Brian Dable And
by the way, how about this game and the Giants
down ten and the fourth come back tie it, get
the ball first and overtime and on the first play
they fumble the ball. Yeah, this is anciant Dable at
two and eight gonna be shown the door. Oh it's
it's highly likely. It's highly likely the Panthers. With the

(01:19):
Panthers represent this season. If you get beat by the Panthers,
is you are with the Panthers in the basement of
the NFL?

Speaker 3 (01:28):
Thank you?

Speaker 4 (01:28):
Like if you're not, if you're not playing a blowout
game against the Panthers or winning at least handily or
easily against the Panthers, it means that's right where you are.
You're at the bottom of the NFL. And for the
Giants ownership, for that general management team, for everybody in
the coaching staff to be on a long flight home
now where you have a long time with each other

(01:51):
looking at each other, thinking about what just happened, thinking
about the season.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
It doesn't bode well for Brian Dable. All right.

Speaker 4 (01:59):
I hate the part to the business, but it is
a part of the business, and it's a business of winning.
And right now the Giants have two wins through ten games.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
I'm with you one hundred percent. I don't like to
see people lose their jaws. But when you lose to
the Carolina Panthers and that's a long flight back from Munich, Yeah,
that's uh where ownership Yeah, sort of sits down saying
are we really a two and eight football team? Do
we just lose to the Panthers? Do we just fumble
on the first play of overtime? Is that on Dable?
I don't know, Maybe he's just bringing back karma to
our team. Now, before we get into the crucks of

(02:27):
what's going on with these seven games in the NFL,
I would like to have Chris on the board and
bo are a steam producer, both stand up.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
Do you see a similarity in their geared today? First off,
this isn't a visual medium, so yes, we will.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Need Okay, so they are both wearing and whatever they
wearing right now?

Speaker 3 (02:45):
These are both light blue jerseys. Yeah, okay, yeah, both
of that's.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Actually Hawaiian blue, waiem blue things, Honolulu blue jerseys, both
of them with silver and white accents, white numbers and
blazing across the front through which top. Yeah, that's number
fourteen and that's a ma raw Saint brown. Now, why
are you guys both wearing the exact same jersey.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
What is his story?

Speaker 5 (03:11):
And this wasn't planned, It's just we will happen to
show up in the same I'm.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Going do you have no Lions gear in your closet?
We know that Bow well now I do?

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Yeah, well too.

Speaker 5 (03:22):
When you get home today and open your mailbox, yeah
you know, quick time out Raw himself will be there
to hand out a jersey.

Speaker 4 (03:27):
So, so is what happened? Bo went from being an
Eagles fan to a Rams fan, back to Eagles fans
to a Detroit Lions.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
Had stop as being a Bears fan too.

Speaker 5 (03:39):
Well, that's tough. I wouldn't say fan Caleb William fan.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Yeah, I mean it's a good looking jersey's let's just
talk about it. Yeah yeah, I mean have really nice
jersey arts. Okay, So obviously Chris has had to be
your doing.

Speaker 6 (03:54):
Yeah, well not quite, but I am going out to
like a Lions fan meet and greet for our potod
cast on Sunset Boulevard a little bit later today. So
I brought the jersey, and I think Bow is like
if his f if you know, family permitting, might tag along.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
We'll see.

Speaker 6 (04:10):
So it's uh, you know, he's stressed for the case, well,
in case no not, why not have fun?

Speaker 7 (04:15):
Bo is also like me, like we're fans of players.
We have our teams, but we also like certain players.
So I feel like Bo and I have that in common.

Speaker 6 (04:23):
And I'm on rock got to back up his green
Bay sucks and then like someone pointed out, hey, green
Bay isn't one word, and then goes in a podcast
and says, I don't care. I'm actually glad I misspelled
it because that's how much green Bay sucks. Okay, so
why is Manzi not wearing number fourteen?

Speaker 8 (04:37):
I wasn't involved in this.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
Next time, Manxi, when you walked in, I'm sure you
noticed that they were wearing the same jersey.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
Steve obviously observing.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
They were like, aren't you going to say anything? I go,
I'm saving it for the air. What do you think
I'm blind? Of course I see he realized I walked in.
I'm like, normal Sunday, Yeah, normally exactly. As I'm walking
past to production, Show'm like, hey, buzz.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
I'm like, Steve, what up?

Speaker 9 (05:01):
You know?

Speaker 3 (05:01):
I mean, not until Steve mentioned it and I saw
beaming smiles from Chris and Bo did I realize they
were wearing the same.

Speaker 7 (05:08):
Thing I noticed, but I didn't think twice because again, Bo,
it's Bo is like me that we just like certain players.

Speaker 8 (05:13):
So we'll maybe sport a player.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
That we know that we know that bow is a
big USC guy, USC guy, So yeah, that makes connections, yes,
but well.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Never in a million years noticed it.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
In fact, if we had gone the entire broadcast and
when we were walking out to the parking lot, been like.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
Hey, what about their involves that burrito?

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Okay, we have our first touchdown of the day, guys,
and it belongs to the Buffalo Bills on a pick six.
Nice Joe Flacco get started of the game.

Speaker 4 (05:44):
Uh oh yeah, he throws one to Buffalo and that's
six points on the board, and so look, I mean
home dogs. Obviously the Indianapolis wants.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
To replay of this.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
And that is a really bad pass by Joe Flacco
so well, or.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
Really good pass if he was aiming four Toron Johnson,
he couldn't miss him.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
He was right on the numbers and he basically walks
into the end zone. So the Buffalo Bills get first
on a twenty three yard interception return for a touchdown.
That pick six, seven to nothing Buffalo. So the things
going from bad to worse for the Colts, of course,
they bench Anthony Richardson, hoping that Flacco would have the
same magic that he had in Cleveland a year ago.

(06:26):
Last week he didn't look good and now his first
play of the game he throws a pick six.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
Well, so, here's the thing about Joe Flacco.

Speaker 4 (06:33):
Joe Flacco during his time with the Baltimore Ravens did
a lot of really good things, and he was precise
with his passing, and especially in the postseason, he was
a tremendous asset to the Baltimore Ravens. However, this has
always been a part of his game, Joe Flacco, throwing interceptions,
throwing passes into double coverage. He's got a great arm,

(06:54):
and when you trust your arm too much, and I
think that has always been the knock on Flacco. Sometimes
your arm can get you in trouble. And I think
that's exactly what happened there. I think he was trying
to gamble throwing a football over a defender into the
waiting arms of a receiver and it did not work
out for him.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
We've seen it a thousand times with him, all right.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
The game of the day at least based on records.
Going in is the Steelers commander's game, and both guy
both teams go three and out.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
This is going to be an interesting test for Jayden dan.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
For Jaden because Daniel Jalen Daniels, he is a guy
that has obviously made all the plays Jayden Daniels so
far this year, but he hasn't played a defense like
the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
No, he hasn't.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
And this is going to be the next level test
for Jayden Daniels. Just how good an already great rookie
season is going to be. That's why you know, on
the other side, Russell Wilson, the Steelers are the Steelers.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
You know exactly what the Steelers.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
They'll probably get maybe I don't know what seventeen points
today some are, but that doesn't mean you're gonna lose, right,
I mean, how much trouble can they give a guy
like Jaden Daniels or rookie quarterback. My guess it's going
to be a lot. I love the under in this game.
It was a low number already. I think it's even
gonna go lower. I just think that this is going

(08:16):
to be a grinded out, ugly Pittsburgh Steelers type game
and in the end, who's going to make a play?
Is it gonna be Russell Wilson, is going to be
Jaden Daniels, Who's going to make a play at the
end of the game to eke out an ugly victim.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
What's so crazy about the Pittsburgh Steelers is Mike Tomlin
is probably pinching himself thinking of himself, My goodness, I
have Russell Wilson. At least have Russell Wilson at my
quarterback position going into these games, because think about the
dregs at the quarterback position that he's been experiencing over
the years with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
Now, is Russell Wilson elite? No, he's a far cry
from the good old days in Seattle. But is he
a competent passer who's not gonna screw up too bad
for you? Is gonna make good decisions, understand your offense,
and who's been somewhat humbled and came to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Speaker 3 (09:08):
With hat in hand. Yeah, I do.

Speaker 4 (09:10):
I think you're gonna get a guy who will go
out there not screw it up for your defense. And
that's exactly and all Mike Tomlin is looking for in
this game against the Commanders. Hey, you operate the offense,
you manage the game for us, and our defense will
go out there and win. And so I think that's
the game plan today for the Steelers against the Commanders.

(09:31):
And as far as Jaden Daniels is concerned, what I'm
trying to do is bottle them up in the pocket,
compress the running lanes so it doesn't anywhere to go.
When you're playing coverage. Try to rush four and maybe
five defenders at the most upfront. If you can contain
him in the pocket and force him to throw from
a well, he's eventually gonna throw one to you. And

(09:51):
the Pittsburgh Steelers are gonna hit him, They're gonna hurry him.
They always do those things. It's just about not breaking
content and letting him hurt you with his legs.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
Tarren Johnson at the twenty two working.

Speaker 1 (10:57):
His way back, cuts.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
It all the way across the field.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
Rresult Douglas blocking five touchdown Buffalo. The first offensive play
for the Colts is a touchdown for the Bills at
WGR five to fifty Bills Radio Network. And that is
a good way to start the game if you're the Buffalo.
Bills seven nothing over the Colts, eight minutes to go
in the first quarter.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
This is Red Zone Radio. Steve Harbin, Rich Ornberger with you.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
We are live from the Tirak dot Com studios. In
the meantime, we already have a touchdown for the Pittsburgh Steelers,
Rich taking a seven to nothing lead on a Wilson
to Pickens pass, so seven nothing Steelers. Vikings get an
early field goal, take a three to nothing lead on
the road against the Jaguars, and that is the all

(11:43):
the scoring we have early on. By the way, the
Patriots on the move right now, they are in the
red zone on the road against the Bears. You know,
and we look at week ten, Rich, and this is
the first week of the second half of the season,
and we are at that point where you got a
lot lot of teams in the middle where there's a
little bit on life support, like are they in?

Speaker 3 (12:06):
Are they out?

Speaker 2 (12:06):
If you're sitting at three and four or four and
five or four and four, you know, it's that middle
of the road. What's going to happen. We saw a
team like the Rams last year was one of those teams,
and they got hot and they won seven or the
last eight, got in the postseason. But when you talk
about teams like the Bears, the Colts, the Broncos, the Buccaneers,

(12:29):
these are all these teams that are just sort of
middle road, most of them will probably fall by the wayside.
Are you believing in any of these teams or these
teams are going to be also rams by the end
of the season.

Speaker 4 (12:41):
I think that many of these teams are going to
be in the conversation for the whole season. Especially when
you look at the AFC side, this feels like a big,
jumbled mess of a lot of pretty mediocre records but
pretty good football teams. Like I'm not going to count
out a lot of the teams you just mentioned, because
I think there's hopes and aspirations for many of the

(13:03):
quote unquote bottom dwellers. I mean, if you look at
the top of the AFC, I mean, how much faith
do you have in the Chiefs? They haven't looked very good.
They have a great record, but they haven't looked very
good through the early portion of the season. The Steelers,
we're talking about them. George Pickens just catches another touchdown
pass on the season. The Steelers have won ugly the
entire season. Now they may continue to so may the Chiefs.

(13:26):
But I feel like, especially on that conference side, it
is a wide open race.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
I'm not counting very many teams out. Maybe with the
exception of Jacksonville Jaguars, looking pretty bad.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
Well, let me ask you this, all right, if you
look at the AFC going into today, all right, so
chiefs here one seed, Bills are the two seeds Steelers,
the three Texans are the four Ravens, who many people
still think are the best team in the AFC. What
a game that was on Thursday. Gosh, phenomenal game. They're
the five seed Chargers and Broncos are the next two wildcards.

(14:00):
Who's out? Colts Bengals? Are the Bengals done? No, that's
my point four and six?

Speaker 3 (14:06):
Like they done? Even the Colts? How about the Jets?
Go ahead? How about the Jets? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (14:10):
I mean the Jets win today, which is not gonna
be easy on the road against Arizona because Cardinals come
in on three game winning streak. But the Jets win today,
they're still Very're in the race. They're in the race,
and they have Aaron Rodgers as a quarterback. I mean,
are we going to say just because he started this
season really poorly, he can't put it together? Ricky Pierre
Sall just got into the end zone for the San

(14:32):
Francisco forty nine ers.

Speaker 4 (14:34):
Is that his first touchdown of his NFL career? That
is this is a kid that got shot. Yeah, this
is their their drafted rookie who on the streets of
San Francisco gets into a scuffle because an armed assailant
wants his watch. He gets shot in the chest, his
life is saved. His first game back is last week,
and then in his second game of his NFL career,

(14:56):
he catches a crossing pattern and he outruns everyone to
the front pylon, falls backward into the end zone, outstretched arm.
It's good for six. And that's how he starts his career.
What an insane story that is thrilling to see him
get in.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
He's a talent, absolutely great inspiration for that entire team. Now,
getting back to the NFC situation rich really when you
look at it, Lions, Commanders, Falcons, Vikings, Eagles, Packers all
sitting pretty The big question mark is the NFC West.
I mean, technically, right now, Arizona is at five and four,
but you got the Ransom forty nine Ers both at

(15:31):
four and four and the Seahawks at four and five.
I mean, somebody, You're not going to see any wild
cards come out of the NFC West. Somebody's gonna e
merge as the champion of that division. But you're right,
I think the AFC is a little more muddled right.

Speaker 3 (15:46):
Now, it feels the NFC is. It definitely feels that way.

Speaker 4 (15:48):
Look the NFC, there are some clear cut great teams
in that conference. I mean when you look at what
the Detroit Lions has done, and we could stop down
there for a moment, Yeah, I mean, they have just
been tremendous. They've been the type of team that you
don't want to run into because not only do you
have to play against them, but then you've got to

(16:09):
sort of endore what happens to you on the other
side of playing against a team that exudes such physicality.
They're not just going to beat you, They're going to
try to beat you up. And they have successfully done
that all season long. So I'm a big fan of
what Dan Campbell has done on the Detroit Lions over
the course of now going into his fourth year with them.

(16:29):
You have the Washington Commanders who sit at seven wins as.

Speaker 3 (16:32):
Well, And are you convinced about the Commanders. Well, we're
gonna see how they look against an elite defense here
in the Pittsburgh Absolutely, and they're already seven to zero
in the hole. Exactly, and they're hosting them, so there's
almost no excuses here. It's like, hey, you.

Speaker 4 (16:44):
Know you're going out against one of the NFL's best defenses.
It's time to grow up.

Speaker 5 (16:48):
Rookie will see they they may be at home, but
I don't know if you saw the crowd shot. There
is a lot of terrible talents at that stadium today.

Speaker 4 (16:54):
That is a good point when you're within proximity of Pittsburgh,
even when you're not. I remember out here in southern
California when the Chargers were still in San Diego, we
played against the Steelers. It was a Steelers home game.
I promise you it was nicer weather. But all those
Pittsburghers they went on vacation, buddy, and they packed the towels.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
All right.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
We got the Vikings on the road for against the Jaguars.
Jaguars are trying to insist they're not done, even at
two and seven, but obviously they would have to win today.
They have a first and goal right now at the
Minnesota one yard line. Vikings lead this game three nothing,
But you get a cent with the Vikings.

Speaker 3 (17:31):
What do we got here? Kurt leuchdown Travis ETN ETN
gets in the end zone. So there it is. So
we just talked about it and ETN gets in the
end zone. So there you go.

Speaker 2 (17:40):
Seven to nothing. Hopefully if they make the extra point.
We always have to hold our breath on that.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (17:45):
Could you believe when Tucker missed that extra point for
the Ravens the other night?

Speaker 3 (17:50):
Oh my gosh, I mean, what is he is? He's
out a tough season.

Speaker 2 (17:53):
This guy is arguably the greatest kicker in the history
of the National football lague yep, arguably, and in a
year where everybody seems to be lights out with their kicking,
justin Tucker is now like in the bottom level this
season alone in terms of accuracy long term you know,
long range field goals, he's not making him and then

(18:14):
he misses an extra point.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
I'll tell you right now. I look, kicking is like golf,
it is.

Speaker 4 (18:21):
There are sometimes where a golfer just kind of loses
their swing or loses their confidence. I mean, there's conversation
about how Royal and McElroy he's working on his swing.
He spent like a month with a coach locked away
in a dungeon somewhere trying to fix his swing. Like
you think to yourself, Rory McElroy. I mean, this guy
is constantly in the top five of the leader boys
at Majors. But the problem is he hasn't won the

(18:44):
Masters yet and it's it's a mental thing and it's
a hurdle that he feels like he's got to change
something to get better. Kicking is no different. I spent
a lot of time talking to the kickers I played
with collegiately or professionally. These guys will tell you it
really has nothing to do with weather, the elements. It
has nothing to do with your leg strength. Everything happens

(19:04):
between the ears. It's about being able to replicate those
actions in those movements time and time again. Just like golf,
and if one little thing is off, it could throw
off an entire season. And that's what it looks like
for Justin Tucker right now.

Speaker 3 (19:16):
By the way, we have a trend here.

Speaker 2 (19:18):
Every time Chris comes in to announce a touchdown, it's
immediately underdew.

Speaker 3 (19:24):
It is unreal. Every time they shut up, we have
opened for everybody.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
Every time that Chris announces, it goes under review, and
half the time it gets reversed.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
Right now, it's under review, and in fact it was
it was knocked down. His knee was down. So there
it is no e T and we they score it again?
He does.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
Mac Jones gets in on the QB sneak jack So
if you're ETN.

Speaker 3 (19:58):
And you're like, screaming, guy, yeah, he's my team.

Speaker 2 (20:01):
No touchdown Mac Jones. Anybody playing Mac Jones today?

Speaker 5 (20:05):
Can we start the quarterback controversy in Jacksonville?

Speaker 3 (20:07):
Or yeah, what's happening there?

Speaker 2 (20:09):
I mean, we have mac Jones five or six passing
fifty yards and he just scored on the ground.

Speaker 3 (20:13):
Well, here's the thing.

Speaker 4 (20:14):
If he starts winning and you have Lawrence out, what
do you do if you're Doug Peterson.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
Well that's if Doug Peterson's still around to make any decision.

Speaker 4 (20:23):
Well, I mean if they start winning, I mean, all
of a sudden, if you're shot con, you're like, you know,
he was on the off ramp here, all of a sudden,
we may need a detour back onto the freeway because
things are happening with mac Jones. And then it puts
you in the tricky situation of saying, Okay, so this
guy was scrappy to buy the New England Patriots. We
just paid this other guy, Trevor Lawrence or excuse me,

(20:44):
hundreds of millions of dollars to be our quarterback.

Speaker 3 (20:47):
How the heck do you make that switch?

Speaker 4 (20:50):
And again, Jaggs would have to rack off a bunch
of wins in a row here for that to even
be a conversation.

Speaker 3 (20:56):
But what do you do?

Speaker 2 (20:56):
Oh my goodness, do you see this absolute walk in
time down?

Speaker 3 (21:00):
Flackle? Throw a pass that downs?

Speaker 2 (21:02):
He took his eye off the ball to look up
the field, drop the ball.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
That is brutal. I mean it was a walking touchdown.

Speaker 4 (21:10):
It is It is plays like that that will haunt
your dreams for the for weeks. I mean that was
a touchdown in a game where they need one. The
Colts hosting the Bills, are already down ten to nothing.

Speaker 3 (21:21):
He had a red zone.

Speaker 2 (21:22):
Path, It's almost he was going right back to downs too,
and a defender jumped in front of him on the
slam pass near the goal line, and so that was
nearly going the other way. So the Cults are gonna
have to settle for a field goal attempt down ten
to not the inside four minutes to go in the
first quarter at home against the Bills.

Speaker 3 (21:41):
All right, let's find out what is trending.

Speaker 2 (21:43):
Right now, and it's acknowledge the fact that Chris has
this way of announcing touchdowns to get nullified. Many immediately
said it's unreal, isn't it.

Speaker 8 (21:52):
And he noticed that I heard him saying.

Speaker 7 (21:54):
I was like, okay, I'll start writing this down for
my notes and then I'm paying attention.

Speaker 8 (21:57):
I was like, no, it's not really a touchdown, but
it's all right. We like the excitement, Chris.

Speaker 3 (22:03):
We tell everybody, look, we can't watch every day.

Speaker 8 (22:07):
That is not the message, that we're.

Speaker 3 (22:09):
Not a lot, that we can't make clear fire.

Speaker 6 (22:11):
And then immediately after I close my mic, I look
up and it's like, oh, his knee was clearly down.

Speaker 3 (22:17):
It's okay.

Speaker 5 (22:18):
Chris doesn't get the biggest blunder of the day because
the Steelers just tried to do a fake punt from
like their own ten yard line and failed miserably.

Speaker 3 (22:25):
Wow for the commanders at the Petsburg sixteen.

Speaker 4 (22:30):
See before we get a single update from around the NFL,
I must say I every time I walk in here,
I am surprised and.

Speaker 3 (22:38):
It is like it's like Christmas morning. I open up
the studio door and sitting right at my little station here.
Where are they? Oh no, they're gone. Two burritos, delicious burrito.
And I'll tell you. And particularly this morning, I was
in a rushkin out the door and I got over here.
I'm like, man, I'm going to be hungry through this
whole broadcast. And I walk in side open.

Speaker 7 (23:02):
I try to start our Sundays on a on a
positive note.

Speaker 8 (23:05):
Right, good.

Speaker 3 (23:05):
Yeah, I'm feeling fueled.

Speaker 8 (23:07):
We got we gotta be ready for four hours of excitement.

Speaker 3 (23:10):
It's good.

Speaker 8 (23:10):
So I want everybody to have food in their bellies.

Speaker 3 (23:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (23:14):
No, I made the mistake of bringing those britles months ago,
and now I'm stuck doing it.

Speaker 3 (23:17):
So and like I told you, I kind of forget
that you're doing it every Sunday and so it's like
a fun surprise.

Speaker 4 (23:25):
Yeah, if you stop doing it, I promise you I will.
I will forget it's ever happened. And I'll just be like, man,
you know, I don't know why.

Speaker 2 (23:33):
But the way burritos, there are some taco bells that
are no longer serving breakfast.

Speaker 8 (23:38):
That is true. This is what Chris told us recently.

Speaker 7 (23:41):
Yeah, the shows, but the show's over, let's all pack
it ago.

Speaker 8 (23:44):
But the one I go to We're still good.

Speaker 3 (23:45):
We're still good on that one.

Speaker 8 (23:46):
Still good.

Speaker 6 (23:47):
Not only that you brought me in a sausage burrito
and it actually had sausage patty in it instead of
sausage crumbles, and I was like, wow, they up the
they up the burrito games matter.

Speaker 5 (23:56):
They had to run out to bonds and get some
Jimmy Dean's Well, it's probably a self fulfilling prophecy because
that one still has breakfast because Monsi goes there and
orders Tony burritos everything.

Speaker 3 (24:06):
She's the only one keeping that that place serving.

Speaker 8 (24:09):
Bread exactly on Sunday.

Speaker 4 (24:10):
There is one Taco bell in the contiguous United States
that serves breakfast in Sherman Oaks.

Speaker 3 (24:17):
Let her give it the scores. Okay, very good, very good.

Speaker 8 (24:21):
No, we're good, We're good. He under everybody, Yeah, yeah,
we're good.

Speaker 3 (24:25):
Well.

Speaker 7 (24:25):
The Patriots and the Bears are getting close to the
end of the first quarter, with the Patriots on top
three zero.

Speaker 8 (24:30):
Bears haven't done much. They've punted twice.

Speaker 7 (24:33):
Caleb Williams is one of two for just nine yards,
has been sacked twice already. The Bills started things off
with the pick six against Joe Flacco literally as the
game started. The Colts weren't able to get a touchdown.
Bills are up ten to three with about three minutes
to go in the first quarter. Broncos and the Chiefs
are scoreless after the first quarter. Bo Nicks he is
five of eight for fifty nine yards. Patrick Mahomes four

(24:55):
of six for twenty two yards.

Speaker 8 (24:57):
Both of them have been sacked once already.

Speaker 7 (24:59):
The Falcons and the Saints are also scoreless late in
the first quarter. Ricky Piersoll, you guys were talking about
rookie his first NFL touchdown of forty six forty.

Speaker 8 (25:07):
Six yard touchdown pass run. But rock perty is that right?
I don't think it was forty six? Did I right
that wrong? No, it was forty six.

Speaker 3 (25:13):
Yeah, might be he ran with it for a while.

Speaker 8 (25:15):
He did, he.

Speaker 7 (25:16):
Did, so he gets in the end zone. Forty nine.
Ers are up on the Buccaneers in Tampa seven zero
late in the first The Commanders have just tied the
game against the Steelers. George Pickens did have a great
catch sixteen yard touchdown pass from Russell Wilson in the
end zone, but the Commanders have responded.

Speaker 8 (25:30):
It's seven to seven late in the first.

Speaker 7 (25:31):
Quarter and the Jaguars are beating the Vikings seven to
three with about three minutes to go in the first
Back to you guys, oh what Germany, Germany peeks They
walked it off against the Giants in Germany twenty to seventeen.
Giants actually won the coin toss, fumbled on the first play,
ye setting up Carolina.

Speaker 2 (25:48):
For yeah field you you were in transition when that happened, Like,
it's interesting.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
You saw the Giants get you know, the ball.

Speaker 2 (25:54):
First, and all of a sudden, the next thing you're
you're watching the uh Caroline Carolina when he with the
field goal, Like what happened to the Giants?

Speaker 7 (26:01):
I had to go and asked us, like, did they
really fumble on the first play?

Speaker 1 (26:04):
They did?

Speaker 3 (26:05):
Indeed, Oh my goodness, could be the death knell for
Brian Davil in his time with the Giants.

Speaker 2 (26:09):
All right, once again, this is thank you mon see,
this is the Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 3 (26:12):
Steve Hartman, Rich Rmberger with you.

Speaker 2 (26:14):
All right, let's let's deal a little look ahead to
one of the games coming up a little bit later
on as the Titans are on the road against the
surprising Los Angeles Chargers and Johnnius right now. Well, let's
face it, this man is part of I think one
of the greatest college teams of all time.

Speaker 3 (26:31):
A man he was a three time Pro bowler and
a Super Bowl champion.

Speaker 2 (26:34):
The great Jonathan Vilma is Johnny us right now, Jonathan,
always appreciate the time. You know, before the season, with
the hiring of Jim Harbaugh, my reaction was, all right,
the Chargers don't have a lot here. I have faith
that Harball will get this team on track, but it
may take a couple of years. And yet as we
sit here right now, the Chargers are a playoff team.

(26:56):
What has he done to get the most out of
this Chargers team?

Speaker 9 (27:00):
Well, I'd say the first is that he has the
players believing in themselves. And then he simplified everything defensively,
special teams offense, the way that they approach the week,
they go about practice, and you get back to the basics,
the fundamentals of football, which frankly, they never change. Right,

(27:22):
And you talk about the defense, how they're flying around,
they're aggressive. When you make it simple that you tell
the guys go out be physical, tackle and they do
that right, And then you realize, man, these players they're
actually a little bit better than we thought when you
don't have them thinking so much. And then offensively, again,
run the football the fundamentals right, run the football, protect

(27:45):
the football, justin Herbert's done a tremendous job of that.
And then you'll find yourself in a lot of close
games where you're in a position to win, and you
do that weekend, week out, play complimentary football, and that's
where you find yourself now six and three, whatever the
record is, potentially on the way to making a playoff runt.

Speaker 4 (28:05):
So the Chargers defensively, you mentioned, have simplified things, but
they're also getting a little thin cornerback of Sante Samuel Junior,
he's out for the year. Khalil Mack didn't practice this week.
Christen Fulton at corner he also didn't practice this week.
You have Denzel Perriman, he's got the toe injury, didn't
practice Wednesday, limited on Thursday. So with Will Levis returning

(28:28):
to the field for the Titans, how is this defense
going to slow him down, especially if you're missing key pieces.

Speaker 9 (28:35):
Well, I would say the pieces that are missing, as
great as they are, you still saw a defense that
played very well. So you look at Fulton. He didn't
play last week, and you had Tarheev steel Cam excuse me,
the other corner who also did a good job as well.
But they didn't really miss a beat there, Khalil Mackett

(28:55):
and playing. You have a bud Dupree that stepped in,
you had a two ley that stepped in, and they've
all played good football and they've played well. And it
goes back to keeping it simple. You don't have a
lot to teach the guys, right, You're able to see
the guys from training camp Ota to now these young
guys I'm referring to, you're able to see that, hey,
they can play in our system, so you don't have

(29:17):
to do anything special for them. Keep the game simple,
keep the game playing simple for them, and let them
go out and just continue to be good athletes and play.

Speaker 2 (29:26):
You look at the Titans record and you might be
surprised to find out they're number one in the NFL
in total defense that's yards allowed per game. They're number
one in pass defense. Wow, but they've only had three interceptions.
They're not taking the ball away, they're not creating turnovers. So, Jonathan,
when you look at this Titans defense, are the stats
misleading in how good this defense is.

Speaker 9 (29:50):
I always said, you earn the stats that you get,
you earn the rankings that you get, right just like
you earn your record. So it's not mis leading in
the sense that they're not as good defensively at the
stats say. It's only misleading in the sense that the
situations in the game may cause for the opposing team

(30:12):
to either pass the ball less, run more because they
have the lead, or whatever it is. But there's still
a really good defense. So with that being said, it
was one thing if you see them first and pass defense,
and then you know thirty first in rush defense, then
that tells you, okay, there's no need to pass the
football on this Titans team because you can run it

(30:33):
down their throw. But there's still top ten, eleventh in
rush defense, so that lets you know they're pretty solid
across the board. So this is a good defense or
coach very well. Really like talking with defensive coordinator Denark Wilson,
he does a really good job. Everywhere he's been the
secondary has been sound, and so it's okay if you

(30:54):
don't have the interceptions, because sometimes you could be a
feast of famine defense where you get a lot of interceptions,
but you give up a lot of big plays. And
right now it looks like he's telling them to be sound,
be disciplined, make sure you see them breaking and out,
then go up and make the tackle, and it vode
well for them. It's really been the turnovers, excuse me,
the giveaways on the offensive side that have been hurting

(31:16):
the Titan.

Speaker 4 (31:18):
Justin Herbert entered this league with an insane potential, and
I think when he got thrust into action his rookie
year against the Super Bowl winning Kansas City Chiefs, he
took them all the way to overtime and everybody saw it.
They went, oh, this guy's going to be special in
this league.

Speaker 3 (31:34):
And he is.

Speaker 4 (31:35):
He's a special talent. There's no doubting that. But it
has not translated to many wins or many playoff berths.
Do you think with Jim Harbaugh this is where it
turns for Justin Herbert?

Speaker 9 (31:47):
Well, I think so. To answer your question pretty candidly,
I do think so. If you look at Harball and
the quarterbacks that he's had and how far they've gone,
and you take it all the way back to Andrew
Luck at Stanford and then Kaepernick of course, and then
McCarthy just winning a national title with him, I would say, yeah,

(32:09):
he has that ability to bring the best out of
the quarterback and the best out of the team to
get to a deep playoff run and hopefully an AFT
championship game down the road. But what I would say
about Herbert is that he the positive is that he's
so good that we're now talking about how does he

(32:30):
make the team better? Right? And there's always that first step, right,
You first have to be a really good player. Then
when you're a really good player for a consistent consecutive
amount of time, then we start talking about, well, what
have you done for your team? Have you elevated a team?
And so it's just really interesting to hear you talk
about him, how we talk about him. He was so
good so quickly that we instantly went past the Okay,

(32:54):
he's a good player. It's now immediately okay, when can
you make your team better? So I let you know
that they have a really good quarterback and now the
rest of the piece has got to fit in.

Speaker 3 (33:05):
Jonathan.

Speaker 2 (33:06):
By the way, I have a Heisman vote with the
you losing, is cam Ward's still your choice for the Heisman?

Speaker 3 (33:11):
What do you think.

Speaker 9 (33:13):
Come on, is that a real question.

Speaker 2 (33:15):
I know, I know, I know. I just had to
throw it out there. I just had it throw Jonathan
tremendous job. As always, we appreciate the time. Have a
good time out at the game today.

Speaker 9 (33:25):
All right, thanks guys, great talking with you.

Speaker 2 (33:27):
That is Jonathan Vilma there for this Titans Charger game.
By the way, you talk about statistical anomalies, right, So
the Titans offense overall, which is based on yards per game,
is twenty seventh in the league, and their scoring offense
is twenty seventh. All right, that makes sense, right, Yeah,
twenty seventh in total offense, twenty seventh and scoring offense.
Their defense, i mentioned, is number one overall in total defense,

(33:50):
their scoring defense twenty seventh. So how can you be
twenty seventh the league in scoring defense but number one
in the league in total defense.

Speaker 4 (34:00):
What it means is that when when teams get the
ball in the red zone, they're putting in the end zone. Yeah,
it means that you don't have a very good red
zone defense, or explosive plays have really harmed you overall.
I mean you're also throwing a lot of pick sixes. Yeah,
well that doesn't that goes on the scoring defense. Well,
and here's another thing. This game is kind of an anomaly.

(34:21):
So will levis really good against zone coverage, really really
bad against man. The Chargers basically only play zone. They
play very little man by the percentages. The opposite is
true for Herbert, who has the worst grade against against
zone coverage, and and he actually has success against man.

(34:41):
And they're going to see the opposite. So this is
one of those tricky games where on the surface you
may have a side you love, but really when when
you dig into the numbers, it feels like, even though
the Chargers are favored by eight, the Titans may be
the pick.

Speaker 3 (34:58):
This could be a very very close game.

Speaker 2 (35:01):
By the way, the team I picked to be the
surprise team in the NFL making the playoffs, that would
be the Denver Broncos. Seven nothing lead for the Broncos
on the road against the Chiefs. Bownicks a touchdown pass
to get it going. He is on fire right now,
So there we go. All right, we'll continue on. We
got a lot of scorers, We've got a lot of
stats for you. Seven games right now around the NFL.

(35:22):
This is Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 3 (35:24):
Mason stays in.

Speaker 2 (35:25):
Here's Perty on a second and five throws over the middle,
wide open.

Speaker 3 (35:29):
Ricky Piersoll's got the catch.

Speaker 2 (35:31):
Twenty fifteen ten five Piersol on the way to go line, touchdown,
San Francisco.

Speaker 3 (35:42):
That's KMBR forty nine ers Radio Network.

Speaker 2 (35:45):
Forty nine ers with a quick ten nothing lead on
the road against the Buccaneers inside nine minutes to go
in the first half of that game. Once again, this
is Red Zone Radio. Steve Harbin Rich Ornberger with you.
We are live from the Tirerak dot com studios updating
the scoreboard for you right now. These are all second
quarter scores. Patriots lead on the road against the Bears
three to nothing. Bills up on the Colts ten to three,

(36:08):
but the Colts right now have a second and goal
at the Buffalo three yard line. Broncos lead the Chiefs
seven to nothing. Chiefs now with a fourth down at
the Denver eighteen yard line. Saints with a three to
nothing lead at home against the Falcons. Where's the Falcons offense?
Forty nine ers on the road, as we mentioned, lead
the Buccaneers ten to nothing, Steelers and Commanders seven to seven,

(36:30):
and the Jaguars lead the Vikings seven to three at home.
We talk about the Saints here, Rich Saints obviously firing
Dennis Allen as expected. We predicted that here on the
show last week after losing to Carolina, that was going
to be the end of him.

Speaker 3 (36:46):
A team that.

Speaker 2 (36:46):
Started two in a row, rattling off seven straight losses.
Right now, they're actually looking pretty good. Derek Carr off
to a good start seven to eleven eighty seven yards passing. Meanwhile,
Kirk Cousins two of seven for eighteen yards. Atlanta looks
like they have run into an inspired Saints team now
that they have shown Dennis all in the door.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (37:07):
I work with Jared Smith on Saturdays. He calls this
the dead cat bounce. When a team fires a head coach,
he likes to put money on them the next week.
And it's because sometimes you see a little bit of
inspiration from a team. And so maybe the Saints are
going to fight back a little bit here this season.
A lot of guys are going to be campaigning to

(37:28):
stay Saints. You know, because when there's a regime change,
whenever it happens most likely this offseason, you're going to
put on film all your resume items like this is
how this guy played after the season was kind of
left for dead. And we have a Cults touchdown. So
all of a sudden, this game getting a little bit
tighter in Indie. If the extra point goes through, it's

(37:50):
going to be a tied up football game. And it
is at ten points a piece. Goodson catches a pass
from Flacco on a bootleg and we are off to
the race. Is with the tie ballgame in the AFC.

Speaker 2 (38:02):
By the way, already in this game, Jonathan Taylor seventy
seven yards rushing against that Buffalo defense. So he's averaging
seven yards of carry. So if you're on the Jonathan
Taylor band wagon this week, how about seventy seven yards
rushing with nine minutes to go in the first half. Yeah,
I mean he is off from what is he? Ashton genty.

(38:24):
By the way, genty continues to lead to my Heisman
poll after another two hundred and nine yards and three
touchdowns last night against the wolf Pack.

Speaker 4 (38:32):
I watched genty two weeks ago in person at Boise.
There was a Friday night game that I was calling.
I was broadcasting college football, and Ashton genty is the
real deal. For anybody out there who's looking at their
team and thinking, hey, next year, you know whoever it
may be, we need a running back like we needed
Derek Henry. We need what the Ravens have genty.

Speaker 3 (38:55):
Is that guy.

Speaker 2 (38:56):
So against Santego Stadium, previously against UNLV, they just look
loaded up the box to stop him, right, and this
guy gets tough yards like he does, runs hard and
then oh yeah, when he's in the open off to
the races. He's one of those guys. So you're absolutely right,
Genti is the real deal Bears? What is going on
with the Bears offense? After that crushing loss of the

(39:18):
Commanders Jleb Williams already six to nine but just forty
three yards passing. But here they are playing the lowly
Patriots and they haven't gotten anything going so far offensively.
What's happening here at home? By the way, Bears are
four to zero at home this year, oh and four
on the road home game against the Patriots. Obviously they
should be doing a little bit better than they're doing

(39:39):
so far.

Speaker 3 (39:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (39:39):
Look, the Bears were favorites obviously heading into this one.
Lost twenty nine to nine to the Cardinals last week,
second straight defeat. Caleb Williams really struggled, and and that's it.
You know, sometimes you go through these ebbs and flows
when you're a rookie quarterback. That's what's happening with Williams.

Speaker 2 (39:57):
All Right, we have got a lot of games going
on right now. We'll bring you all the updates. This
is Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 3 (40:04):
That is Matt Kirk mind up as a tight end
on the right side. Playfake for Nicks in thirty two,
loads it up.

Speaker 1 (40:09):
He's got a home run ball It is there.

Speaker 3 (40:11):
Touchdown Denver Cortland Sutton.

Speaker 10 (40:15):
What a call?

Speaker 9 (40:15):
What a frow.

Speaker 10 (40:18):
Thirty two yard touchdown pass on third down and two.

Speaker 2 (40:23):
That's koa eight fifty AM ninety four point one f M.

Speaker 2 (40:32):
Well, it's six minutes to go on the first half,
but it's been all Broncos so far in that game.

Speaker 3 (40:36):
Once again, this is Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 2 (40:38):

should be Well, anyone that's listened to me over the
years know that about ninety five percent of the time
I'm wrong, But this one I think I'm right. You know,
I just felt like, you know, the Denver Broncos Sean

(41:05):
Payton decided that I'm not comfortable with Russell Wilson, who
didn't have a terrible year last year statistically, at least,
I want to go in a different direction. And he
was gung ho on bow Knicks, who started more games
than any FBS quarterback ever, and he got off to
a slow start. But bow Knicks is picking up steam
already today. Rich He's ten of thirteen hundred and twenty

(41:26):
seven yards two touchdown passes against the two time defending
Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs in Kansas City.

Speaker 3 (41:34):
I like the way he fights, I like the way
he learns.

Speaker 4 (41:37):
I like the fact that he does have those experiences
as a college football player, that he's been through some wars,
that he's been through a couple of different offenses. Remember,
before his success with Oregon Ducks, he spent time in Auburn,
so he had to relearn a new system in the past.
In the recent past, so yeah, I think he's capable
of showing Sean Payton and his staff, certainly over a

(42:00):
preseason camp and showing his teammates throughout the course of
the early regular season that they've made the right selection
that he can be a franchise guys.

Speaker 3 (42:09):
Now he has to keep it up.

Speaker 4 (42:10):
Obviously, we can get all excited about a young quarterback
and we can see things fade. That's happened many times
in this league. But Sean Payne's a good coach. He's
got some good weapons around him in Denver, and I'm
liking the early returns from Bonnicks.

Speaker 3 (42:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (42:23):
And if the Chiefs were to lose this game, because
he's sort of been maintaining well, there're eight no and
they're two time Defenny Super Bowl champions. Yeah, And even
if Patrick Mahomes numbers are way down from what we
are normally seeing from him, you know, last week d
Hop all of a sudden showed up and guess what,
it's pretty good target other than any other wide receiver

(42:43):
they had on the roster.

Speaker 3 (42:45):
So the Chiefs will be fine.

Speaker 2 (42:46):
But if they were to lose today at home to
a division rival of the Denver Broncos, what does this
do in your opinion too.

Speaker 3 (42:53):
Their power ranking, at least in the AFC.

Speaker 4 (42:55):
Well, it's not going to knock them off the top seed,
but in terms of how they look and what.

Speaker 3 (43:01):
We think talking about your eyeball, yes, the eyeball, how
we feel about the Chiefs, it's going to change some things.
Are they with the Ravens? Are they with the Bills?
It's a whole missmash. I'm telling you, I don't see
I don't see the Chiefs as really being as good
of a football team as the Ravens or the Bills.

Speaker 4 (43:20):
I don't think they are. I think that they've won
by the skin of their teeth some close calls. This
team very easily could have three or four losses, but
they don't. They're undefeated and they're having a hell of
a time against Denver. Now, it doesn't mean that they
can't win this football game. They can.

Speaker 3 (43:36):
And we've seen Patrick Mahomes and this.

Speaker 4 (43:38):
Chiefs teams erase bigger deficits in this in playoff games
for crying out loud.

Speaker 3 (43:43):
So there's no doubt there's magical chantas on this.

Speaker 2 (43:47):
On a third and nine, Mahomes gets sacked for a
huge loss that takes them out of field goal positionally.

Speaker 4 (43:53):
That was a ten yard sack. The Denver Broncos were
on him almost immediately. They were looking for a home
run ball the Can's City Chiefs were and he stepped
up into the pocket and got clobbered.

Speaker 2 (44:03):
But side on Denver's is my guess. No, it is
illegal use of the hands against Denver.

Speaker 3 (44:14):
Wow, that might be PI, that might be illegal contact.

Speaker 2 (44:17):
Yeah, it's an illegal contact. Illegal use of the hands
against Denver. I was convenient. So instead of a sack
and a fourth down taking him out of a field
goal position, first down for the Chiefs.

Speaker 3 (44:29):
Wow, that was very convenient for the Chiefs.

Speaker 6 (44:32):
I think on the characteristic of the Chiefs like image
so far in the NFL, like, we've definitely heard a
lot of yeah, it's fine, Patrick Mahobs isn't playing at
his top level because you have Steve Spagnolo's defense, which
is scaring the hell out of a lot of teams.
But so far early in this game, you know, bo
Nix has gotten two very good touchdowns on this team,

(44:54):
and I know bo Nix has kind of been coming
into his own the last couple of weeks. But I
don't think anyone expected to him to be the quarterback
to really challenge this Spagnolo defense, which is again viewed
as the top one in this league right now.

Speaker 2 (45:08):
Well again, every team, no matter how good they are
offensively or defensively, there is some flaw, oh yeah, and
it's up to the opposing coordinator to figure it out.

Speaker 4 (45:20):
There's always something. And listen the pass that he just
connected on. There was a wide open shot. You had
a receiver behind the defense. And there's a lot of
quarterbacks against Kansas City Chiefs who they get nervous, they
pump themselves up too much, and they throw a football
and they overthrow the receiver by three to five yards
when they have a home run ball, and that's the

(45:41):
way it goes. Patrick Mahomes is unflappable in most situations,
and so end of game situations, do you know the
Chiefs are going to have as good of a chance,
if not better than anybody in the football in this league.
When it comes to a lot of quarterbacks playing against
Patrick Mahomes, they wilt in those situations. So far, bo
Nicks has stepped up in some major moments. It's early

(46:04):
in the game again, the Chiefs trail by eleven. It's
so early in this game though.

Speaker 2 (46:09):
All right inside six minutes ago in the first half,
and the Falcons have finally gotten on the score barred
on a Bijon Robinson one yard touchdown run. Saints still
lead that game by a score of ten to seven.
Forty nine Ers and Buccaneers. You know, going into this week,
before that Thursday night shootout between Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow,

(46:30):
not only was Baker Mayfield leading the league in touchdown passes,
he had three more than any other quarterback in the
league going into this week. Today at home against the
forty nine ers, forty nine Ers lead ten to three.
And I mentioned earlier about teams that are sort of like,
are they in the mix? Buccaneers need this game today.

Speaker 4 (46:49):
Yeah, they do, They absolutely do. This would be a
huge win for the Bucks. Also a huge win in
the NFC. You know, if you get a win over
the San Francisco forty nine ers. Saying they've looked perfect
this season, they haven't, but this could boat extremely, extremely
well at the end of the season when everybody is
starting to shuffle into wherever their seating may be. But yeah,

(47:11):
the Buccaneers, they need this victory and hosting the forty
nine Ers, also a four and four football team at
this point in the season where it's just starting to
click for the Niners. You've got them right where you
want him. You just got to see the ball through
the hoop here.

Speaker 1 (47:26):
All right?

Speaker 2 (47:27):
I mentioned earlier I'm wrong ninety five percent of the
time I was ragging about my broncos. I said that
the lowest scoring game of the day of the morning
would be Steelers Commanders. Actually, right now it's the highest
scoring game. It's fourteen to ten Steelers lead the Commanders.
Russell Wilson has a couple of touchdown passes. Jayden Daniels
here rich five to nine thirty one yards. Yeah, I

(47:49):
mean they're doing nothing offensively. Eckler did get in the
end zone. But we mentioned before this is going to
be the test for the rookie going against by far,
the best defense he's seen so far this season.

Speaker 4 (48:00):
Their loan touchdown drive was after the Steelers wait went
for it on a fake punt deep inside their own territory.
They were able to quickly convert that into points. But
it's been it's been a pretty ho hum day for
the the Commanders. You know, they had a first and

(48:20):
what was it a when they kicked the field goal earlier,
they had an opportunity inside the Steelers territory, but faltered
and so they had to settle for three.

Speaker 3 (48:31):
It's just been that kind of day.

Speaker 4 (48:32):
Look, that's the kind of day that you typically have
against the Pittsburgh Steelers offensively, though. I mean, they are
going to limit you, and they're doing exactly what I
told you they were going to try to do to
Jayden Daniels, which is try to make him throw from
the pocket.

Speaker 3 (48:46):
Is he good from the pocket? Was he in college? Yeah? Sure?

Speaker 4 (48:49):
But when you're a mobile quarterback, it takes away so
much to mention to your football game. When you're hemmed
up inside the pocket, you're so much less creative of
an offense. And he's really up again against the Steelers
defense today.

Speaker 2 (49:02):
All right, two minutes warning there in Chicago, the Bears
are tied with the Patriots at three, but the Patriots
have a third and one at the Bear's four yard line.
So Caleb Williams and that Bear's offering sputtering against a
good Patriot defense. And we always say this about the Patriots.
They're still trying to find their way with Drake may

(49:22):
a quarterback, but defensively they can challenge teams. How about
the Colts after an early hole, they're leading the Bills
thirteen to ten, and Josh Allen so far has been
held in check seven of thirteen eighty three yards, no touchdowns,
and a pick. He has one yard rushing, so he

(49:43):
hasn't gotten it done through the air, he hasn't done
it on the ground. Jonathan Taylor already has over one
hundred yards rushing for the Colts. So the Colts are
leading despite the flack that Flacco has thrown two interceptions,
including a pick six.

Speaker 4 (49:58):
Well, it's because the Bills have been absol le abysmal
on third down. They just finally got one there and
they needed it getting across the fifty yard line into
Colts territory. Before that, they were one to four on
third down. They're zero for one on fourth down, so
that is horribly inefficient. Now they're two for five on
third down after getting that sideline pass and again getting

(50:18):
to the Colts side of the football field.

Speaker 3 (50:20):
But that's it, right.

Speaker 4 (50:21):
Setting yourself up for short yardage or or medium yardage
situations on third down, that is going to help you
keep drives alive, get into the red zone, finishing drives
with points, whether it's three points or getting the ball
into the painted grass.

Speaker 3 (50:37):
That's what the Bills need to do.

Speaker 4 (50:38):
This Colts team is playing well, even though Flacco hasn't
had the best day.

Speaker 2 (50:42):
All Right, we mentioned that the Falcons got right back
in this game against the Saints, and now the Saints
have answered back another touchdown for all this scantling, this
one a short pass of two yards. So the Saints
have extended to lead seventeen to seven.

Speaker 3 (50:58):
And this is a Saints team that look worse.

Speaker 2 (51:01):
Every single week over the last you know, seven weeks
when they've lost seven in a row. Today, Derek Carr
ten of fourteen, one hundred and ninety six yards, two
touchdowns and no picks. He has almost a perfect passer rating.
So get rid of the coach bringing an interim guy,
and we've seen a completely different Saints team in the
first half of this game against the division rival, the

(51:24):
division leader, the Atlanta Falcons.

Speaker 4 (51:26):
Long sustained drives is what the Saints are doing right now.
They have fifteen minutes of time of possession compared to
the Falcons eleven. They've ran ten more plays than them.
They've been staying on the field at the exact opposite
of what's been happening with the Bills through the first half.
The Saints are doing it. They're converting third downs, they're
getting themselves into manageable situations, and they're marching the field

(51:48):
on the falcons and they're finishing these drives. Now the
Bills are starting to put together a little bit of
a drive here. Long pass to Dawson Knox gets them
inside the fifteen yard line and Josh Allen runs it
in himself for the score, and that puts the Bills.

Speaker 3 (52:04):
Ahead, and that gets thirteen ball game. She has Josh
in one of her She does, She definitely does. I
saw her literally hands in the air doing a dance
as uh as the moose Scott loose. There's a flag
on the play. Though there is a flag on the play.

Speaker 2 (52:19):
There is a flag on the play. Chris did not
call this one. So if they do call it back,
I think it's gonna I get the hat of shame
off me. Does it go to Rich Yeah, I will,
I'll wear the cone of shame.

Speaker 3 (52:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (52:31):
It's he was all excited and it was it's it's
against Buffalo.

Speaker 3 (52:35):
It's against Buffalo. So take that. You hang on this
after the after the touchdowns.

Speaker 4 (52:44):
Wha, yeah, yeah, you better put the cone of shame
right back on your head.

Speaker 6 (52:49):
By the way, I listen Gravis Kelsey touchdown and I
am making sure that one's not getting called back.

Speaker 2 (52:54):
All right, So I listened to the guys in the morning,
and I love the great Brian No one of Brian's
plays today that Sam Darnald will not throw an interception today.
He's already thrown two interceptions today on the road against.

Speaker 3 (53:05):
The Jacksonville team.

Speaker 2 (53:06):
I think his stat was Jacksonville only had two interceptions
as a team the entire season. And Sam Donald has
already thrown two picks in the first half of this
game against Jacksonville. And it's been an ugly game. Jacksonville
leading the Vikings. What's going on with the Vikings today
by a score of seven to three. All Right, we're

(53:28):
rolling along seven games going on around the NFL heading
toward halftime. With these games for all the latest scorer stats,
everything you need. This is red Zone Radio. Allen in
the shotgun, here's the snat and off. No, it's a
keeper for Allen through the left side ten five and
he's into the end zone for the touchdown.

Speaker 3 (53:46):
The Beast has been released a thirteen yard touchdown run by.

Speaker 2 (53:51):
Allen that's WGR five to fifty Bills Radio Network. So
the Bills now have taken the lead against the Colts
by a score of thirteen.

Speaker 3 (54:00):
We've hit the two minute warning in that game.

Speaker 2 (54:03):
This is Red Zone Radio Steve Hartman and Rich Ornberger
with you live from the tire rack dot Com studios.
All right, quick rundown of the score brough right now.
Just seconds left in the first half, and the Patriots
have a ten to three lead on the road against
the Bears. We mentioned Bills up seventeen thirteen on the Coles.
A minute to go in the half. There, final seconds
of the first half. Broncos lead the Chiefs fourteen to ten,

(54:25):
seventeen to seven, Saints over the Falcons. The Falcons are
at the Saints eleven yard line, thirty four seconds left
in the half. It is halftime in Tampa and the
Bucks are trailing the forty nine Ers ten to three.
Three minutes to go in the half. Commanders trailing the
Steelers fourteen to ten, and at the half the Jaguars
leading the Vikings by a score of seven to three.

(54:49):
Mac Jones at quarterback for the Jaguars in this game,
not much to yell about eight of twelve seventy three
yards but zero picks, unlike Sam Darnold, who is throwing
a couple of interceptions for the Vikings. And I want
to stop there for a second, because we talked about
this after the Vikings saw hot start, and I'll you know,
we were mentioning Sam Donald. Is he an MVP, cannon

(55:11):
and everything else. Suddenly he's slowed down a little bit.
And that was my question long term for the Vikings
because Sam Donald is their guy, and a guy that
has had an inconsistent NFL career, and a lot of
it has to do with circumstance and the teams he's
been on over the years. Obviously has better personnel with

(55:31):
the Vikings and a better coach, But can Sam Donald
maintain a certain level of consistency necessary to get the
Vikings into the postseason.

Speaker 4 (55:42):
Well, the Vikings are an interesting case because it feels
like they caught a couple of teams at just the
right time. So they have early wins against San Francisco
and Houston. Both those teams they didn't look as good
to start this season as I think they'll finish up.
They also have wins against the Jets and the Giants.
Virtually anybody in the league at this point could have

(56:02):
gotten wins against the Jets and the Giants. And you
started to see the break against the Green Bay Packers.
Now that was game four. I skipped around their schedule
a little bit to prove the point that the teams
they've won against haven't been either to that point all
that good or just aren't all that good. The Green
Bay Packers are, and they struggled with them, and then

(56:23):
they lost to the Lions after they played the Jets,
and then they lost to the Rams after they lost
to the Lions. And so that brings us to the
Colts game, where they eked out the victory. But all
of those warts that we started seeing all the way
back in Week five against the green or Week four
against the Green Bay Packers, they were on full display.
Now again they were able to survive, but that's all

(56:45):
it was against the Colts. I think that the I
think that the Minnesota Vikings are the type of team
that against inferior competition are gonna look really good and
they have, but when they go against you know, some
of the bet teams in this league, they're going to
struggle or they're going to lose those football games and

(57:05):
then you get snuck up on. Every once in a while.
Jacksonville may be feeling a little bit inspired. Hey we
got a rilly around mac Jones. This could be a
tough night for them. They're gonna go against Tennessee Titans.
Who knows, maybe the Tennessee and Titans could be reinvigorated
after this week's performance.

Speaker 3 (57:20):
We'll see.

Speaker 4 (57:21):
It's I think the Vikings it was a little bit
of fools goal to start this season with Sam Darnold.

Speaker 2 (57:26):
All right, I want to take a moment now as
we headed in a halftime with these games, to.

Speaker 3 (57:29):
Talk about the situation with the Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (57:31):
I mentioned this yesterday on the show with Monci that
you know, we heard a lot of it this week
where maybe an election didn't go your way and so
it's time to look in the mirror like what are
we doing wrong? What do we need to get doing here?
And I feel like the analogy is right there with
the Dallas Cowboys. I mean, you go into the season
with expectations three straight twelve win seasons. You give Dak

(57:54):
Prescott the richest contract in the history of the NFL.
We're still waiting official word whether or not he's going
to have that season ending surgery on that hamstring. But
if you're Jerry Jones, you've got to take a long
look in the mirror and like, where are we going?
Because they got a lot of money tied up in contracts.
Suddenly their depth on this team is below par. They're

(58:15):
near the bottom of the league in rushing offense and
rushing defense. That's the death knell for any team. It
is time for this Dallas Cowboys franchise, the most valued
franchise in all of sports in the world. The money
is there. As a businessman, Jerry Jones has far exceeded
any expectations, especially for a team that hasn't even made

(58:36):
a conference championship game in twenty nine years. But if
your goal is to win a Super Bowl and you
have a lame duck coach to Mike McCarthy, you've got
to do a lot of self examination on exactly what
is our next move?

Speaker 3 (58:53):
Well, it's funny that you look.

Speaker 4 (58:55):
This isn't obviously a political statement at all, but the
comparison is apt when when you talk about a campaign,
whether it's a season or a political campaign, you have
to have belief in the face of the campaign. Mike
McCarthy is the face of the campaign. They don't trust
Mike McCarthy. I mean he is he is supposed to

(59:18):
be the person that's going to bring the Dallas Cowboys
to Providence, But I mean he wasn't even given a contract.
So how can you imbue this this team with the
ideas that, hey, this is gonna be our Super Bowl year.
But at the same time you look at Mike McCarthy
and you say, well, you didn't even extend his contract.

(59:40):
Like so, I don't really understand. It's mixed messaging. It
was confusing out the gates. I thought, along with Dak
Prescott's contract, Jerry Jones was going to re up Mike
McCarthy and never did. And so I don't think that
I don't think that anybody in that locker room feels
all that secure with the plan.

Speaker 3 (59:58):
Would you want an other veteran?

Speaker 2 (01:00:01):
He specifically picked Mike McCarthy to be the coach of
the Cowboys because he had a Super Bowl championship on
his resume.

Speaker 3 (01:00:08):
Right that is why he picked him.

Speaker 2 (01:00:09):
Oh yeah, does he go that route again in his
next choice for a coach, assuming that Mike McCarthy has
done at the end of the season.

Speaker 3 (01:00:17):
It's so.

Speaker 2 (01:00:18):
And if you are one of those coaches that have
a Super Bowl, is this an organization that you want
to hit your wagon.

Speaker 4 (01:00:26):
To, Like so the easy reach would be like, well
Belichick exactly, you know. But but here's the thing. I
don't think Bill and Jerry will fit.

Speaker 3 (01:00:35):
I just don't. I don't think.

Speaker 4 (01:00:36):
I don't think Bill Belichick will accept being told what
to do well.

Speaker 2 (01:00:42):
Especially when one of his mentors, Bill Parcells, tried that
years ago.

Speaker 4 (01:00:46):
Yeah, and they they talk now like like they buried
the hatchet. And by the way, Jerry Jones hasn't changed
much since then, Like he's still in fact, he's more
in control of the Dallas Cowboys, not less, and he's
hired control coaches. Yeah, Jason Garrett, I mean he was
his guy. He was a Dallas Cowboy guy. He gave
him his whole career. Yeah, you look at Mike McCarthy.

(01:01:08):
He basically saved Mike McCarthy's coaching career. He was scrap
heat by the Green Bay Packers had a gap year,
and then he said, yeah, we'll revitalize you. We'll dust
you off and put you right in front of the
team and you could be our guy. And so that's
exactly what the Dallas Cowboys did. I don't think Belichick's
on there. I could see maybe like a Mike Rabel

(01:01:28):
taking a coaching job with the Dallas Cowboys if he
wants to be a head coach, because again, like a
guy who's younger, who's got a lot more time on
the shot clock than a guy like Bill Belichick in
terms of years to coach left, I think I could
see that, and then there could be some other surprises.
Ben Johnson he may be available again this go around

(01:01:50):
as an offensive coordinator with the Detroit Lions. They were
able to get him back, But will they be able
to do that, especially if the Detroit Lions go on
a deep run, The chances are no. I could see
an upstart coordinator from a team that's having success come
in and try to fix the Dallas Cowboys. But they
need to make a change because clearly they don't want
Mike McCarthy.

Speaker 2 (01:02:10):
Well, again, this is a franchise that's going nowhere this year.
And honestly, the foreseeable future does not look good for
America's team. Right now, the Commanders just seconds left in
the first half, and Jayden Daniels just threw a what was.

Speaker 3 (01:02:26):
A touchdown pass dropped.

Speaker 4 (01:02:28):
Wow, in and out of the hands of the receiver
in the back of the end.

Speaker 3 (01:02:32):
Look at Jadan. Daniel's like, you're kidding me. This is
wide open throw. He put it right on his receiver's helmet.
Oh wow, I mean that is that's a drop.

Speaker 2 (01:02:41):
I mean what they look He's literally wide open, nobody
there and Daniel's like, really brutal, Really, I could almost
have handed you the ball, and that sets a second
goal as the Commander's trying to retake the lead late
in the first half of this game.

Speaker 3 (01:02:57):
Let's find out what is trending right now.

Speaker 2 (01:03:00):
Saw Montsi Bolano's very excited about Josh Allen's non touchdown.

Speaker 7 (01:03:05):
He I'm mean about him, and he just threw a
great pass downfield as we're speaking right now, with eight
seconds to go.

Speaker 8 (01:03:12):
I needed him. It's from my guillotine league.

Speaker 3 (01:03:14):
I well, he's up to one hundred and eighty eight.

Speaker 7 (01:03:16):
Yards passing good because last night check he had like
two points so I'm glad he's picking it up. Yeah,
he just threw the ball down field. There's two games
that are still going on. The rest are at halftime,
and it's this game and the Steelers and Commanders, which
we are keeping an eye on.

Speaker 8 (01:03:31):
For the Commanders, it is second in.

Speaker 7 (01:03:32):
Goal at Pittsburgh three, Pittsburgh three yard line, twenty two
seconds ish, they call the time out. The Commanders are
losing to the Steelers fourteen to ten on this one,
but again they have the ball knocking on the door
to score. At halftime, the Jags are beating the Vikings
seven to three.

Speaker 8 (01:03:47):
Who would have thought that?

Speaker 10 (01:03:48):
Not me?

Speaker 7 (01:03:49):
Mac Jones eight of twelve seventy three yards, one brushing touchdown.
Sam Darnold twelve of twenty one hundred and nineteen yards,
two interceptions, no bo no. The forty nine Ers are
beating the Buccaneers ten to real. Kind of a slow
start here for San Francisco, but a great story for
Rooky wide receiver Ricky Pearcell, who's seventy one days ago
was just shot in the chest during an attempted robbery. Today,

(01:04:10):
he had his first NFL touchdown, a forty six yard
touchdown pass from brock Party.

Speaker 8 (01:04:14):
How has he done?

Speaker 7 (01:04:15):
Brock Party ten of sixteen, one hundred and fifty three yards,
that touchdown. What about Christian McCaffrey, he's back seven carries
twenty one yards at halftime. The Saints are beating the
Falcons seventeen to seven at halftime. Derek Carr ten of fourteen,
one hundred and ninety six yards and two touchdowns. They
both went to mvs Marcus Valdez Scantleen who has three
catches one hundred and nine yards and those two touchdowns.

Speaker 8 (01:04:36):
So there's Derek Carr coming to life on that one.

Speaker 7 (01:04:38):
The Broncos beating the Chiefs fourteen to ten, But the
Chiefs did cut that deficit. They were down at one
point thirteen to ten or something like that, but Patrick
Mahomes connected with Travis Kelcey to cut the deficit. Kelsey
has six catches fifty three yards and that touchdown. But
again the Broncos are up with bo Nick's fourteen of twenty,
one hundred and sixty yards and two touchdowns. The Bills
did they score again? And my crazy Sea did I

(01:04:59):
miss said they scored? Josh Allen. The Bills are beating
the Colts twenty to thirteen at halftime. Yeah, Josh Allen
thirteen of twenty three, one hundred and eighty eight yards,
one interception, but he does have a rushing touchdown, and
the Patriots are beating the Bears thirteen to three at halftime.
The Bears have pretty much punted the entire first half
except for that one field goal that they got, and
the Commanders are in the end zone a rushing touchdown

(01:05:22):
from Austin Eckler, his second of the day. So the
Commander is going into halftime likely on top of the
Steelers right now at sixteen to fourteen.

Speaker 3 (01:05:30):
Back to you, guys, remind me Montsi, I took the
under in that game? Did I need it?

Speaker 11 (01:05:33):
Did?

Speaker 2 (01:05:34):
It's the highest scoring game before. I mean, it's just
it is uncanny, third.

Speaker 3 (01:05:39):
Anny how I can pull that off? I mean, thirty
points scored so far? Yeah, about thirty one with that
extra point.

Speaker 2 (01:05:45):
All right, So there you go, seventeen to fourteen Commanders
with a halftime lead there against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Once again,
this is the Red Zone Radio. Steve Hartbin and Rich
Ornberger with you right now. Rich, I want to ask
you about another game coming up here, and that is
the Jets and the Cardinals. What is a more likely
scenario in your mind, the Jets winning back to back

(01:06:07):
games or the Cardinals winning.

Speaker 3 (01:06:08):
Four in a row.

Speaker 4 (01:06:10):
Ooh, I would say the Cardinals winning four in a row.
They're the better team. I think that I believe in
Kyler Murray more at this point in the season than
they do Aaron Rodgers. I was wrong on Aaron Rodgers.
I thought that it would click a lot faster, and
it has not. It has taken a long time to progress.
It goes to show you that even with a quarterback

(01:06:32):
as talented as Aaron Rodgers, not everybody as Tom Brady, right,
you know, even like as good as Aaron Rodgers is.
This is a four time MVP. But because I've seen
it happen with Tom Brady with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers,
and actually I watched the same thing happen with Matthew

(01:06:54):
Stafford and the the Los Angeles Rams, my assumption was
Aaron Rodgers will have similar or success. They have not
with Aaron Rodgers had the kind of success that the
Rams did with Stafford, that the Buccaneers did with Tom Brady,
And a lot of that blame needs to be placed
on Aaron Rodgers. He hand selected the coordinator, he hand

(01:07:15):
selected a lot of the pieces surrounding him around the offense,
and it has not worked all right.

Speaker 2 (01:07:21):
Here has always been my read on Aaron Rodgers in
terms of just sheer talent to play the position. I
don't think there's ever been anyone better than Aaron Rodgers,
and just the ability to do the things we talk
about a quarterback has to do, throw the ball, achory
and make the right reads, understand where everybody is on
the field. No one does it better than Aaron Rodgers.

(01:07:44):
What is missing and what separates a Tom Brady or
a Patrick Mahomes from the rest of the pack is
their ability to lead people and inspire others to raise
their game. Aaron Rodgers is an insane individual talent. I

(01:08:06):
do not think of Aaron Rodgers in terms of the
leadership qualities anywhere near the level of a Tom Brady
or a Patrick Mahomes, where he can will a team to,
you know, in most critical situations, to raise all of
their game to achieve the ultimate goal, which is winning. Yes,
Aaron Rodgers obviously has won a lot more games that

(01:08:27):
he lost, but he only went to one Super Bowl
and He's had many opportunities, including a lot of home
playoff losses over the years of the Green Bay Packers.
So that was my question with him coming to the Jets.
You know, he can still throw the ball. Oh yeah,
he has weapons to throw the ball too, But can
he raise the mentality of a Jets franchise that has

(01:08:48):
been so miserable for so long to raise their belief that, yes,
now with Aaron Rodgers our leader, we're a playoff caliber team.
And at least so far, the answer is no, we's
not been able to change the mentality of a perennial loser.

Speaker 4 (01:09:07):
Well, I think that part of its Aaron Rodgers, or
a large part of it's Aaron Rodgers. I also think
a large part of it is coaching. You know, if
there's one thing that Bruce Arians did when Tom Brady
went down to Tampa Bay that was really really right,
is he sort of allowed it to be Tom's team
And that was a good decision in that case.

Speaker 3 (01:09:26):
Didn't the Jets do that with Aaron Rodgers?

Speaker 4 (01:09:28):
But hang on a second, But when you give that
kind of control to a unbelievable leader, you're gonna get
a lot done. Because Tom Brady's basically a coach on
the field. He can lead a team. But you got ADMD.
Aaron Rodgers is not Tom Brady. No, And that's the
point I'm trying to make. When when Matthew Stafford joined

(01:09:49):
the Rams, Sean McVay built the perfect offense around him
and the weapons he had to get that Super Bowl victory.
You had a great coach making great decisions in terms
of game on the side of the Rams and Stafford,
you had a coach who was willing to step aside
and really allow the quarterback to become the head coach
in the case of the Arians. And then the expectation

(01:10:10):
for Robert Sala was, Hey, we'll do the same thing
that they did in Tampa Bay. I'll get out of
the way offensively. I'll let Aaron and Hackett run the offense.
I'll just handle the defense and I'll be the guy
at the podium. But he handled it so poorly. From
a couple of different standpoints, Immediately there was conflict between
Aaron Rodgers and Robert Sala. Immediately, Robert Sala could not

(01:10:33):
get his ego out of the way. It was a
huge mistake. Again, say what you will about Bruce Arians
and how things were handled in Tampa Bay, and there
was some strife down the stretch of his time as
a head coach there, which is the reason why he
was essentially fired and then sent to the front office
on a golf vacation like that was real too. But

(01:10:55):
Robert Sala he could not allow Aaron Rodgers to do
what he wanted because he said to himself like, no,
this is still my team.

Speaker 3 (01:11:04):
I was here first. The truth is, once you hired
Aaron Rodgers, it was his team now, and he just
he couldn't get his hat around that. And that's the
reason why Aaron's still there and Robert is not.

Speaker 2 (01:11:16):
And so but after Sala was fired, they immediately lost
three more games in a row.

Speaker 4 (01:11:20):
No, no, listen to me. I'm not saying that it
fixed anything. I'm not saying that it was ever going
to work. And frankly, it may ended up being a
worst season this year than it was last year. It
really could. At least the Jets won seven games last year.
The Jets are not pacing for that this season so far. So,
you know, having said all of that, though, I think
there was too much conflict. I think Aaron Rodgers is

(01:11:42):
not Tom Brady. I think Robert Sala definitely was in
Sean McVeigh. And so this is a failed experiment in
New York. This isn't going to net them a super Bowl.
They'll be lucky if it nets them a playoff. Berth
while Aaron's under contract, so.

Speaker 2 (01:11:56):
He had quarterbacks going in the wrong direction. Caleb Williams,
remember he had those big games against Carolina and Jacksonville
at home. Then came the Washington loss on the Hail Mary.
He was ten to twenty four for one hundred and
thirty one yards. Did not have a good day. And
then last week in that blowout lost Arizona, another miserable day,
twenty two of forty one. You know, that's less than

(01:12:17):
fifty percent passing over the last two weeks and first half.
Today they're losing to the Patriots thirteen to three. He's
six of thirteen for forty three yards. Yeah, at home,
where the Bears have not lost a game all season long.
So Caleb Williams, you know, it looked like he was progressing,

(01:12:37):
he was getting better. He had really good games back
to back and the last couple of weeks have not
been good.

Speaker 3 (01:12:43):
And today seems like it's even worse.

Speaker 2 (01:12:45):
So let's see how the second half goes for Caleb
Williams and the Bears. All right, we're rolling on now. Yes,
we do have some second half's underway. Seven games around
the NFL. You know we got it coverage for you.
This is Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 3 (01:12:59):
Steve Harbin and Rich Harberger.

Speaker 2 (01:13:01):
This is Red Zone Radio and we are live from
the tire rack dot Com studios. All right, once again,
let's give you a little run down of the scoreboard.
Seven games, most at halftimes, some already into the second half.
Patriots lead the Bears fourteen to three. Third quarter is
underway there, Bill's and Cole set the half. Bill's lead
by a score of twenty to thirteen. Chie's still trailing

(01:13:23):
the Broncos fourteen to ten, eleven minutes to go in
the third. There, it has been a surprising day for
the Saints, up seventeen to seven over the Falcons. Third
quarter underweight there forty nine Ers and Buccaneers are now
tied at ten, nine minutes to go in the third.
Commanders leave the Steelers seventeen fourteen at the half and

(01:13:44):
still the why didn't I take this as the under
Jaguars seven to three over the Vikings as Sam Darnold
has thrown his third interception of the day.

Speaker 3 (01:13:55):
Now, I know you do work with Brian No. I do.

Speaker 2 (01:13:57):
Yeah, every Saturday morning show out on so next Saturday
when you do that, say, I was listening to you
guys on Sunday. Yeah, and you had the no interceptions
for Sam Donald. Again, this is a Jacksonville team that
coming into this game in nine games. I mean it
was it made sense to pick because the Jacks that
only had two interceptions in nine games and Donald has

(01:14:18):
already thrown three in this game.

Speaker 4 (01:14:21):
Well, I'll tell you what we've had. We've had a
mixed bag of results so far. On our show Countdown
to Kickoff, of course, we have myself and Jared Smith
are betting analysts, and Brian Knows the lead host on
the show, and we have this whole thing we call
Rapid Fire we do every single week where we pick
games as well, and so whatever you know, sides you like, totals,

(01:14:42):
sometimes props get involved. I listen, and so here's what's interesting.

Speaker 3 (01:14:47):
You have a betting analyst.

Speaker 4 (01:14:48):
Yeah, Brian No, I mean he's uh, you know, he'll
spend some cash and and try to, you know, find
some side, some edges.

Speaker 3 (01:14:54):
Guess who's leading the way? Hell up and fire. That's
right after a three and oh week where it was
Richie road Dog Hornberger taking some heavy dogs. I mean
Mississippi State, Perdue. I mean I well, actually I took
Ohio State on that side. I hope you're riding my
UCLA Bruins. They were what six and a half point
dogs at home against Iowa. They dominated that game. I

(01:15:16):
took Maryland.

Speaker 4 (01:15:17):
I took Maryland, I took OSU to pound Perdue, which
they did. I took Maryland to keep it close with
the Ducks. They kept it close enough. They got blown out,
but they got to close enough. Mississippi State had put
up a fight, and those three cashed in. So all
of a sudden, we've got a long leader at the
top of the board.

Speaker 2 (01:15:31):
I feel pretty good about myself, Yeah, and deservedly so.
Forty nine ers and the Buccaneers seven minutes to go
in the third, and this game is tied. Baker Mayfield
twelve of eighteen, only seventy four yards passing. He has
a touchdown, no picks, and Brock Purdy thirteen to twenty
hundred and eighty two yards, a touchdown and no picks.

(01:15:54):
Christian McCaffrey is back for the forty nine ers. Not
much going on today. Carries thirty six yards, four receptions
thirty one yards. The big story here was obviously Ricky Pearsall.
You know that gunshot victim, the rookie forty six yard
touchdown early in this game, the only forty nine ers score.
But now the McCaffrey is back. What does this do

(01:16:16):
for the forty nine ers? Projecting them on the NFC side,
I mean, we're still looking at a team that's just
four and four this year. They obviously would they need
a win, I mean four and five, and all of
a sudden you're like, wow, I know they play in
arguably the weakest division, the NFC West, But where are
you standing right now in terms of power rankings in

(01:16:37):
the NFC, where the Lions are obviously on top.

Speaker 3 (01:16:40):
Where do the forty nine ers fit.

Speaker 4 (01:16:42):
Well, I'm going to say they fit close to the
top in terms of power rankings. In terms of feel
if you're watching what they're doing today with the addition
of Ricky Pearsall and now what you're seeing McCaffrey do,
is he gets loose here in the end of the
first half into the second half. Now you're seeing the impact.
They're seeing the effect that's had on their offense. He's
a hard man to cover in space. Now he doesn't

(01:17:04):
look one hundred percent. You know, if I were to
quantify it, I mean, it would be impossible to But
let's just say, I don't know. Maybe he's at eighty percent,
but he's already got thirty eight receiving yards, he's got
thirty six six rushing yards.

Speaker 3 (01:17:18):
He's a big piece of this offense. Today's he's really
what they've been missing offensively. And then you have pearsall.
I mean, this team is a burgeoning success, and I
don't know how much they're going to be able to
use McCaffrey. Say they get to use.

Speaker 4 (01:17:30):
Him eighty percent of the time because they're trying to
rest him, you know, eighty percent of his normal usage. Yeah,
Purty just took a sack there and they're in.

Speaker 3 (01:17:37):
The red zone.

Speaker 4 (01:17:38):
But say he only gets to play eighty percent of
his normal usage, and say that eighty percent, he's only
about eighty percent healthy or seventy five percent healthy for
the rest of the season.

Speaker 3 (01:17:48):
Here's the thing.

Speaker 4 (01:17:49):
You'll take that every time because at eighty percent or
seventy five percent, he's still one of the best running
backs in the league and one of the best receivers
in the league.

Speaker 2 (01:17:57):
All right, watching the Commanders right now and the Steelers.
Seventeen fourteen, the second half underway, opening drive for the Commanders,
and they have marched down the field trying to up
this lead. Jayden Daniels is now ten of eighteen for
one hundred and thirty two yards. Not bad, no touchdowns,
no picks. Russell Wilson by the way seven to fifteen,
only forty eight yards, but he has two touchdowns and

(01:18:19):
the Commanders have now gotten the ball down to the
one yard line, so they are a yard away from
extending this lead against the Steelers. I really honestly thought
going in that this was a game that was going
to be tough. But Jaden Daniels is proving again, and
this time against one of the absolute best defenses in

(01:18:40):
the NFL. With Cliff Kingsbury in his ear, he can
move against anybody. I mean, there are no questions about
the talent of Jaden Daniels.

Speaker 4 (01:18:50):
After the Niners take this sack, we have a thirty
three yard attempt from Jake Mooney.

Speaker 3 (01:18:55):
He he made it. Wow, that snuck through the right eye,
and I'll walk in touchdown for the Commanders.

Speaker 4 (01:19:03):
So the score goes to thirteen to ten in San Francisco,
I should say, in Tampa Bay forty nine ers over
the Buccaneers. And here in Washington that was Jeremy McNichols
with a walk in rush. We have the twenty three
to fourteen. Will wait for the extra point. But what
an enormous third and nine pass to Terry McLaurin to
get them down to the one yard line for the

(01:19:25):
McNichols rushing touchdown. This turns into a ten point game
instead of what would have been a one score game
against the Steelers in the third quarter.

Speaker 2 (01:19:33):
All right, we got fourth quarters around the quarter, exciting
finishes for sure.

Speaker 3 (01:19:37):
Keep it here.

Speaker 2 (01:19:38):
This is Red Zone Radio rolling along here on another
huge NFL Sunday. This is Red Zone Radio and we're
broadcasting live from the ti iraq dot com studios tyer
rack dot com.

Speaker 3 (01:19:48):
We're gonna help get you there.

Speaker 2 (01:19:50):
Ana matched selection, fast free shipping, free road ass of protection,
over ten thousand recommended installers. Ty iraq dot com, The
Way Tire buying should be the Chiefs undefeated eight No.
Two time defending Super Bowl champions, just got a field
goal from Harrison Bucker and they have narrowed that Bronco's
lead to fourteen to thirteen. You know, I was wondering

(01:20:14):
going into this game after we saw, you know, a
little d Hop last week and getting involved in that
Chiefs passing game where we see a lot more of him,
and the answer is not yet. Three catches twenty five yards,
so not much for d Hop today. Travis Kelsey is
getting catches. He has a touchdown today, but not a

(01:20:35):
lot of yards. And that's the one thing about this
Chiefs offense is that just have not been able to
break a lot of big plays. In fact, they only
have one play pass play and that was the p
Ryne over twenty two yards today. So that dynamic you
remember back on the d way back in the day
when they had Tyreek Hill and all of a sudden,
Mahomes was able to take Tyreek Hill's immense talent and

(01:21:00):
amplify it off the charts. Those days are over. I mean,
this is a grinded out team. You got Kareem Hunt
eleven carries thirty yards, that's two point seven yards of carry.
Patrick Mahomes is only averaging six yards per attempt. They're
grinding it out. Mahomes has been sacked four times in
this game. But the bottom line is based on the record,

(01:21:24):
they still know how to win. It's not about style points,
it's about putting up w's. So until the Chiefs show
some sign that they have forgotten how to win games late,
you still have to say the Chiefs are the team
to be well.

Speaker 3 (01:21:38):
They are they are.

Speaker 4 (01:21:39):
It's one of those Look, the Chiefs aren't going to
make too many of the mistakes that really kill them
in games. Yes, and when it comes down to the
final four minutes of each half, the Chiefs get a
lot right. And the driver behind that bus is Patrick Mahomes.
He makes Andy Reid look so good. Sometimes he's a magician.

(01:22:00):
There are times where decision making isn't all that good
on play selection or play sequencing, or timeout usage or
clock management. But Patrick Mahomes can pull a rabbit out
of his hat. And don't get me wrong, I want
to give Andy Reid credit. He's an incredibly creative, offensive
minded coach. He has never been considered one of the
elite game managers in the league. In fact, that was

(01:22:23):
something that limited him in head coaching hires after his
time in Philadelphia and the Chiefs hired him, and those
problems continue to follow him into Kansas City when Alex
Smith was his quarterback. It wasn't until Patrick Mahomes came
along where it got so much better. And so Patrick
Mahomes is truly a rare and special talent at quarterback.
And when you have a special talent at quarterback and

(01:22:45):
you have a good enough coach like Andy Reid, which
he absolutely is, you have something really special. And the Chiefs, again,
like you said, until proven differently, they are the team
to beat in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (01:22:57):
Mahomes keeps his ego and he does when you have
the kind of start that Mahomes had to his career
where he's, you know, record setting quarterback and putting up
all these glossy numbers. If you're not getting there, you
would get frustrated. Most people would say, what's happening here?
Why am I not putting up the numbers I used
to put up. This is the same thing with Tom Brady.

(01:23:17):
I really doubt it. At the end of any game,
Tom Brady's like, oh wow, man, I had a good
day today, or wow, I had a lousy date. He
looked at one thing, the scoreboard. Yeah, we won, it
was a great day. If we lost, it was a
terrible day. He's not looking at his individual stat sheet.
That is Mahomes. He doesn't care. He does not care
one iota if he's twenty third in the league in passing.

(01:23:40):
Here's what he knows. We have the best record in
the NFL. We've won the last two Super Bowls. So
when you have that in place, the idea of the Mahomes,
how many quarterbacks now are making more money than Patrick
Mahomes in this league.

Speaker 3 (01:23:53):
We saw this with Tom Brady.

Speaker 2 (01:23:54):
Tom Brady, at no point of his career was never
the highest paid quarterback in the NFL, And Mahomes now
has had what dozen quarterbacks that have passed him in
terms of salary.

Speaker 3 (01:24:02):
To hear Malmes complaining about it.

Speaker 2 (01:24:04):
No, because he is with the right coach, the right system,
and he is a guy, because he is that level
of leader that could raise the level of his teammates.
He's an incredible quarterback. So forget the numbers. He doesn't
care about the numbers. The only number that matters is
eight and zero. That's where the Chiefs are right now.

Speaker 3 (01:24:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:24:24):
Look, I mean go to any sport and think about
great managers in baseball, think about great coaches in basketball.

Speaker 3 (01:24:33):
All of them have special talents. Dave Roberts, I.

Speaker 4 (01:24:36):
Mean, he's been spoiled with the types of players that
he's had in LA with the Dodgers over the course
of his run as manager. With the Dollars, that's a
team that will spend the dollars to make a roster.
You look at Steve Kerr, I mean, is he a
special coach? Maybe, but he's had Steph Curry, who's one
of the most selfless leaders the NBA has ever seen.
And by the way, you go through other great players

(01:24:58):
who paired up with coaches who were you know, given
you know, some great opportunities on the other side of
their time together, like Tylu I mean, is Tyleru an
amazing coach or as Lebron James a transcendent player? I
mean even Popovich, is he an amazing coach? Or was
Tim Duncan one of the greatest sinners who ever played
the game? I mean, I mean that that is the

(01:25:19):
reality of coaching. You need to have amazing players in
order to be considered an amazing coach, and so in
the NFL it's no different. You know, Belichick, Brady, you
need to have a great quarterback. In this case with
Andy Reid, everybody's giving him flowers.

Speaker 2 (01:25:35):
He's gotten Mahomes. I always remember this quote. This is
a name that most of you don't know. The winning
hast left handed pitcher in the history of baseball was
the great Warren spot. He began with the nineteen forty
two Braves and ended with the sixty five Mets. You
know what they had in common The manager Casey Stingle,
And he said, I was I played for Casey before
and after.

Speaker 3 (01:25:55):
He was a genius.

Speaker 2 (01:25:56):
In between one he was so the Yankees, he's winning
World Series, But I played for him before and after
he was a I mean genius.

Speaker 3 (01:26:04):
Perfect example, Joe Torre, Yeah, you know you have exactly Yeah, Jeter,
you have that pitching staff.

Speaker 4 (01:26:09):
I mean, look, my point is any great manager, any
great coach in any sport, you need to have great players.
You need to have transcendent players who are also great leaders.
To win consistently. You need transcending players to win, even
sometimes uniquely in a one off season. If you're gonna
win a Super Bowl, if you're gonna win a World Series,
if you're gonna win an NBA Championship, you need real talent.

(01:26:31):
I mean that is there's so few exceptions. And so
in the case of a team like the Chiefs or
you know, even I mean, you go, you look at
the San Francisco forty nine Ers. What's different about the
forty nine Ers than the Chiefs.

Speaker 3 (01:26:44):
I don't know. How about the quarterback?

Speaker 2 (01:26:46):
Yeah, by the way, speaking of the forty nine Ers
that are now trailing the Buccaneers seventeen to thirteen, Bucky Irving,
by the way, has seventy five yards rushing in this
game on just twelve carries. Has gotten in on a
twelve yard touchdown run. So the Buccaneer now lead the
forty nine Ers seventeen to thirteen. We got fourteen minutes
to go in the fourth quarter of that game, Commanders, Steelers.

(01:27:09):
I told you this was going to be a defensive struggle,
and I was wrong. It's a shootout and the Commanders
are leading the Steelers twenty four to twenty one. But
the Steelers have the ball back right now. Eight minutes
to go in the third quarter, Austin Eckler has a
couple of touchdowns in this game. Russell Wilson not doing
a whole lot. The one thing he is doing though,

(01:27:30):
is avoiding the turnover, which is something you need to
do in a shootout game like this. So twenty four
to twenty one, Commanders are leading the Steelers. Eight minutes
to go in the third quarter. The Bears still have
no offense. We have got two and a half minutes
to go in the third quarter and the Bears have
three points at home. Caleb Williams nine of eighteen for

(01:27:55):
only seventy four yards. They only have one hundred and
fourteen total yards in this game. They give you an
idea New England in this game has two hundred and
thirty eight total yards. So they have doubled up on
the Bears in Chicago and Caleb Williams has been sacked
five times in this game.

Speaker 4 (01:28:13):
Yeah, there's some issues with Caleb Williams. I mean, he's
he hasn't looked either one hundred percent healthy or looked
one hundred percent comfortable in the pockets since the start
of the season or really after the start of the season.
This stretch where he struggled, he looks different. He looks different.
There there's something going on, and I don't want to,

(01:28:34):
I don't want to make excuses for him, but it's
so jarringly different.

Speaker 3 (01:28:39):
It feels like he's struggling through something. Right now.

Speaker 2 (01:28:41):
All right, the Vikings have finally got more points. It's
a field goal. They still trail the Jaguars seven to six.
The story in this game. Sam Darnold, against a team
that only intercepted two passes all season, has thrown three
interceptions today against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who have Mac Jones
at quarterback. Offensively, they've done nothing. They have one hundred

(01:29:02):
and sixteen total yards. The Vikings have three hundred and
ten total yards, almost triple the total. But the scoreboard
still says the Jaguars are leading.

Speaker 4 (01:29:11):
Yeah, yeah, I mean it's it's one of those games
where anything can happen in the NFL that I did
not expect to be such a low scoring game, but
here we are. Look the Jaguars in their situation as
I'm speaking, George Kittle is just getting loose right now
in a game where the Buccaneers are leading the forty
nine or seventeen thirteen in Tampa Bay George Kittle just

(01:29:33):
racked off an enormous run after catch. Here watch this
play real quick. We have a a a tight end
right set where Kittle goes in motion as the ball
snapped and sneaks out the back door.

Speaker 3 (01:29:47):
Just nobody home.

Speaker 2 (01:29:48):
Well, you have McCaffrey in the backfield. So you put
McCaffrey in the backfield, they'll follow him. Oh yeah, which
really makes the play accident. And like you said, they
want one way and then Kittle's wide open on the
other side. By the way, how about this quarterback matchup today?
Saints leading the Falcons twenty to ten. Derek Carr thirteen
of nineteen, two hundred and fifty three yards, two touchdowns,

(01:30:10):
no picks.

Speaker 3 (01:30:11):
That's a one forty six passer rating.

Speaker 2 (01:30:13):
He is badly outplaying Kirk Cousins just twelve to twenty,
two hundred and seventy seven yards and no touchdowns. So
it has been all Saints today and the big story
in this game has been Derek Carr. I guess relieve
that Dennis Allen is no longer his head coach.

Speaker 4 (01:30:30):
Well, yeah, it's a little bit of a graphic term,
but it's used in finance. The dead cap bounds that
Jared Smith refers to all the time on Saturdays on
countdown to kickoff is happening with the Saints, you, fire
head coach, A team can play inspired football for a
week or a couple of weeks following, and that's what
it looks like the Saints are doing. You got a
bunch of guys who are auditioning for the next regime,

(01:30:51):
and they're trying to do some special things in division.
Mind you, this is a huge win for the Saints
if they get it.

Speaker 3 (01:30:58):
Bills and Colts.

Speaker 2 (01:30:59):
It's still twenty to thirteen and the Bills are leading
this game. Joe Flacco has been sacked quite a few
times in this game. Both he and Josh Allen have
had days to forget. Both have thrown a couple interceptions
in this game. So it's still updoor grabs inside three
minutes ago in the third and the Colts trail the
Bills by a score of twenty to thirteen. You get

(01:31:20):
a sense that at least a few of these games
are going to come down to the wire. It's a guarantee.
That's why you're getting to keep it right here on
Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 12 (01:31:29):
Cousins from under Center Robinson's a running back. He'll toss
it to Bajon running the right side. He'll hit the cutback.
Thirty twenty five Robinson, twenty ten five touchdown Atlanta.

Speaker 1 (01:31:42):
What a run, What a run.

Speaker 3 (01:31:46):
That's ninety two to nine in the game.

Speaker 2 (01:31:47):
Falcons Radio Network, And it has been a rough day
for the Falcons, but trying to get back in this
game against their division rival, the New Orleans Saints. And
the Saints maintain a twenty to seventeen just the start
of the fourth quarter in that game. This is the
Red Zone Radio Steve Harbin, Rich Armberger with you. We
are live from the tire Raq dot Com studios. And

(01:32:08):
I'm looking at these scoreboards right now, rich and I
see one, two, three, four, five. Six of the seven
games are one score games. The only game that's not
is a ten point game. Patriots leading the Bears thirteen
to three. So we got a lot of close games
that figured to go right down to the final play.

Speaker 3 (01:32:30):
Perhaps, Yeah, you know, and I kind of said it wrong.

Speaker 4 (01:32:32):
We left off talking about the Saints Falcons game, and
I was saying how it would be a huge win
for the Saints.

Speaker 3 (01:32:38):
It's really not. But it's a huge loss for the Falcons.

Speaker 4 (01:32:42):
Who you know, Look, the Falcons have been really good
over the course of this season, their most recent win
coming against Dallas. In in Dallas, a lot of people
were saying, Hey, you know, does Mike McCarthy lose his
job after that loss? Yeah, all right, well we'll see.
Here's a though. The Falcons lose to the Saints. I mean,

(01:33:03):
that opens things up in the division race a little
bit here. With wins over Tampa Bay and the Panthers.
Two wins over Tampa Bay and a win over the Panthers.
You know, this really could have become a situation where
you're you're looking at a sweep of the whole division
because they finished their season with Carolina and they could
have run the table. But the Saints a little bit

(01:33:24):
of a little bit of a sticky spot here that
the Falcons find themselves in trailing this game.

Speaker 2 (01:33:29):
Every once in a while, you get a week like
this in the NFL. Think about it. Thursday night, one
point game, game earlier today, three point game.

Speaker 3 (01:33:38):
Over time.

Speaker 2 (01:33:39):
We have two one point games right now, we have
two three point games right now, we have a four
point game.

Speaker 3 (01:33:45):
We have a seven point game.

Speaker 2 (01:33:46):
So this was Week ten was apparently the week when
we decide, because you know, every.

Speaker 3 (01:33:51):
Week we have blowout games.

Speaker 2 (01:33:52):
Oh they're just like laughers, and we just erase them
and they're done.

Speaker 3 (01:33:55):
We've had none of that today. None.

Speaker 2 (01:33:57):
In fact, we've had none of that this week. By way,
back to the Thursday night game.

Speaker 3 (01:34:01):
What a game. Two great quarterbacks, Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson.

Speaker 2 (01:34:04):
By the way, Lamar Jackson as great as he is,
every time I see him, he seems.

Speaker 3 (01:34:08):
To get better. I don't know what it is.

Speaker 2 (01:34:10):
Burroll certainly had nothing to apologize for with his game,
But what did you think of the blown call at
the end on that two point diversion.

Speaker 3 (01:34:16):
I mean, that was about as blatant as it GIFs.
It's unexcusable.

Speaker 4 (01:34:20):
I mean, there are moments, Oh my gosh, Christian McCaffrey
just caught a huge ball down the sideline from Brock Purty,
and so that puts the forty nine ers inside the
red zone against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a game
where they trail by four in the fourth quarter. Here
watch this play really quick, and then I'll get back
to the Thursday nighter. But Christian McCaffrey executes a perfect

(01:34:41):
wheel route also back and then brock Perdy Yeah he he,
I mean he fit that in the only spot he
could between two defenders while getting creamed in the pocket.
So a well executed play to get the forty nine
ers down to the twenty three yard line.

Speaker 2 (01:34:59):
Right, So, how do you explain a non call on
a loss that could cost the Bengals a postseason Well,
here's the thing.

Speaker 4 (01:35:06):
I would rather typically allowing the players to determine outcomes
and not a call determined outcomes. But when something is
so obvious and egregious, you gotta throw the flag. Look,
you've got to be brave enough to keep the flag
in your pocket.

Speaker 2 (01:35:23):
You got an officials on the field and they're all
huddled down there on a two point conversion place.

Speaker 3 (01:35:27):
Everyone's standing there. Yeah, how do you miss that?

Speaker 4 (01:35:30):
You've got to be brave enough, brave enough to keep
the flag in your pocket and be brave enough to
pull the flag out in those situations. And that is
why you should be paid the big bucks. I've been
saying this for years. You need to make NFL officiating
one of the most sought after jobs in the nation.
You need to pay these guys better. You need to

(01:35:50):
make the scrutiny more intense. You need to make it
so that you get the best of the best on
the call for these games because the stakes are only
getting higher with betting being legalized state to state. I
think it's a sin that these officials don't have a union.
I think it's it's terrible for the game that you
can sometimes have a bad crew officiating a great game

(01:36:14):
and they can screw it up.

Speaker 3 (01:36:16):
I mean, it's it's a huge problem in sports. It's
not just the NFL.

Speaker 4 (01:36:19):
And so another blown call determines an outcome of what
otherwise would be an incredible regular season game.

Speaker 2 (01:36:26):
Oh, you mentioned the gambling aspect to it, and of
course we're reminded of that every time Al Michaels broadcast
the game. So, I mean, say what you will about
Al at this point of his career, but when there's
something evolving a betting line, you know that Al Michaels
is all over that, all right. The Vikings, who have
trailed this entire game against the Jaguars, now have a

(01:36:47):
third and six at the Jacksonville twenty yard line, Jaguars
leading this game seven to six. The story here has
been the Viking turnovers Sam Darnold's thrown three interceptions today.
Yardage wise, the Vikings have done dominated, but the Jaguars
still hanging on to a one point lead. Third and
six for the Vikings now at the Jacksonville twenty yard line. Meanwhile,

(01:37:07):
the forty nine Ers, after that big pass play, now
have a first and ten at the Tampa eleven yard line.
We got seven and a half minutes to go in
the fourth quarter. Bertie throws into the end zone, that
passes incomplete, So the Buccaneers trying to hang on.

Speaker 3 (01:37:22):
Huge game for both of these teams.

Speaker 2 (01:37:24):
Forty nine Ers coming in at four and four, trying
to keep pace with the Cardinals right now in the
NFC West, of course, the Buccaneers at four and five,
trying to stay in the conversation as far as the playoffs. Remember,
we already have seven teams or six teams or at
least six wins on the NFC side.

Speaker 4 (01:37:40):
We also have a field goal go through for the
Washington Commanders, so they lead now twenty seven to twenty
one in a shootout in Washington. The Commanders, for every
score they've been able to keep.

Speaker 3 (01:37:52):
Pace safe house, where's the hold on that that should
have been a hold. That's right.

Speaker 4 (01:37:56):
Are you kidding me with that non call? So you
had a tight end play. He's playing the winning the
opening right in front of the car. You could not
possibly miss that. That was there's an official looking right
at him.

Speaker 3 (01:38:08):
Oh my gosh. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:38:10):
Yeah, And now dan Quinn is having a conversation with
the official.

Speaker 3 (01:38:14):
How do you miss that?

Speaker 4 (01:38:15):
Because I think he walked over and told him, hey,
you know, we're gonna call him next time for that.
That's my assumption. I mean, that is a blown miscall.
That is just in the wide open. So so let
me explain what, by the way the bill got. So, yeah,
the Washington Commanders kicked the field goal, but the wing
held the rusher off the edge. For the Pittsburgh Steelers,

(01:38:35):
that should have been a loss of ten yards and
potentially in that situation a plus fifty punt for the
Commanders fifty one yards out right.

Speaker 3 (01:38:45):
Around the neck.

Speaker 2 (01:38:46):
And there was nobody else in the picture, so you
couldn't have not seen that. All right, the forty nine
ers have gotten in the end zone. Here the forty
nine ers scored.

Speaker 3 (01:38:58):
Let's see here, how was it pretty to Kittle?

Speaker 2 (01:39:00):
Okay, so Kittle gets that that pretty second touchdown pass
of the game, George Kittle gets into the end zones,
so the forty nine ers have taken back the lead
twenty to seventeen, now seven minutes to go in the
fourth quarter over the Buccaneers. I was gonna mention the
Bills added a field goal, so they now lead the
Colts by ten, still eleven minutes to go there, and
the Patriots are trying to put the Bears away. I know,

(01:39:23):
Patriots leading thirteen to three. My pick for worst team
in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (01:39:27):
Another great prediction.

Speaker 5 (01:39:28):
A question real quick about this game?

Speaker 3 (01:39:30):
Yeah you bet.

Speaker 5 (01:39:30):
Have you ever played a game against the team that
has obviously quit?

Speaker 3 (01:39:34):
Uh?

Speaker 5 (01:39:35):
Yes, because that's what it looked like. The Chicago Bears
have obviously quit. I think after they lost that game
to Washington, I think they've just thrown up there.

Speaker 3 (01:39:42):
We can, we can, We put it out right now.

Speaker 2 (01:39:45):
I want a prediction from everybody who is the next
head coach to be fired.

Speaker 3 (01:39:49):
Give me a name, Give me a name.

Speaker 2 (01:39:50):
All right, We've already had two head coaches fired this year,
Sala and Dennis Allen.

Speaker 3 (01:39:55):
Who will be the next head coach fired? I still
think it's Doug Peterson going Doug Peterson. All right, you're
on the record. Ball what you say.

Speaker 5 (01:40:03):
I will say Brian Dable, But with the caveat that,
we have to wait until five pm this evening to
see what happens in Dallas, Okay, Ritchie.

Speaker 4 (01:40:10):
I just don't see Jerry Jones breaking stride and firing
a head coach mid season. So I do say it
happens in the NFC East. I think it is gonna
be Brian.

Speaker 2 (01:40:20):
Dablem monci, you have a coach that is gonna be
the next coach fired.

Speaker 7 (01:40:26):
You know, there's a few which is why this kid
is a tough a tough decision.

Speaker 8 (01:40:31):
But I'm with Chris. I think it's Doug Peterson.

Speaker 3 (01:40:34):
Interesting, especially if the Vikings take a late lead today. Heugh,
this might be the guys.

Speaker 2 (01:40:39):
I'm gonna go. I'm gonna follow Bow's lead on this. Eberflus,
but the Viking, the Bears have never fired their coach midseason.

Speaker 3 (01:40:45):
It does not matter.

Speaker 2 (01:40:47):
They see it as Caleb Williams situation is getting worse,
not bad.

Speaker 3 (01:40:53):
It doesn't matter.

Speaker 2 (01:40:54):
They're still after all that Flues had for not doing
whatever he did to not lose that game against the
Commanders and by the way the Patriots end up settling
for a field goal. So sixteen thirteen right now Patriots
cy the Bears, Bears looking at their first home loss
of the season.

Speaker 5 (01:41:11):
There's any If there's any time for the Bears to
fire coach midseason, it's this time. But I don't think
they're going to do it.

Speaker 3 (01:41:15):
I really don't feel like they just recommitted to him.

Speaker 6 (01:41:18):
Like earlierly, I think Bo, when I were talking about it,
we're out of Chicago as they might be committing to
Eberflus for next year.

Speaker 3 (01:41:25):
Really, let's let's take a look at it.

Speaker 2 (01:41:27):
After that botched loss against the Commanders, blowout loss to Arizona,
now getting blown out at home by Patriots. There's the
bottom line is there are a lot of coaches that
could be a little bit nervous right now around the NFL.

Speaker 3 (01:41:41):
Let's find out what it's trending. Monci. Here we go
down to the finish line with these games.

Speaker 8 (01:41:47):
Am I Crazier? Did both say Brian Dable?

Speaker 3 (01:41:50):
He did? When you said I with Bo Matt Everflus,
I was like I thought I was with both.

Speaker 2 (01:41:57):
No, it should it should be Eflu if it was
if I was with that know no, no, but he
had said that this Bears team is quit on him.

Speaker 7 (01:42:03):
That was right.

Speaker 2 (01:42:06):
He was saying, when's the last time you see in
the team like quit? And as soon as he said that, okay, well,
if the Bears a quit, why am I keeping Eber
for this?

Speaker 3 (01:42:14):
Why am I keeping him? Yeah? If they've already quit
on the season.

Speaker 4 (01:42:17):
And to answer the question that I didn't get to answer,
I would say this about a team that that quits,
you still have a lot of guys on the roster
who are fighting for their own jobs. And so it's
kind of the old expression a corner A cornered animal
is a is a scared and dangerous animal. So at
any given moment, a team like that, like they can

(01:42:39):
wake up and win a game they shouldn't and so
they got to be taken seriously. Speaking of animals, I
do want to give my my condolences to Mancy.

Speaker 3 (01:42:49):
I know that you had a loss in the family
little duke.

Speaker 8 (01:42:52):
Oh yeah, I.

Speaker 3 (01:42:53):
Heard about that. I did. I didn't kiss my guy.
Oh no, what's the name of your dogster? And it
was a t name. Yeah, I miss him so much.

Speaker 8 (01:43:01):
Yeah, that's hard.

Speaker 3 (01:43:02):
It really really sorry to hear it in all honest, thank.

Speaker 8 (01:43:05):
You though, thank you.

Speaker 7 (01:43:06):
No, he's terribly missed every single day. But here we
are having fun on football.

Speaker 8 (01:43:12):
Sunday, right right it.

Speaker 7 (01:43:14):
Let's check in on this Bears team right now against
the Patriots. Guys, just so we can compare passing yards
for the Patriots one hundred and seventy for the Bears
forty four.

Speaker 8 (01:43:26):
Oh my gosh, rushing yards for.

Speaker 7 (01:43:28):
The Patriots one hundred and twenty eight for the Bears
seventy three.

Speaker 8 (01:43:33):
It just looks bad.

Speaker 7 (01:43:36):
They have punted every single time except for their one
field goal that they hit in the second quarter. They've
done absolutely nothing the Patriots.

Speaker 8 (01:43:44):
It's not even that they're doing a lot. But the
score is sixteen to.

Speaker 7 (01:43:47):
Three, no pling all for Chicago halfway through the fourth
quarter on that one.

Speaker 8 (01:43:51):
The Bills, you know, had a slow start, but they've
come alive.

Speaker 7 (01:43:54):
They're on top of the Colts twenty three to thirteen,
ten minutes left in the game. Josh Allen hasn't thrown
a touchdown. He has thrown two interceptions, but he's also
thrown for two hundred and twenty one yards and he
has a rushing.

Speaker 8 (01:44:04):
Touchdown so far in the game.

Speaker 7 (01:44:06):
The Chiefs are knocking on the door fourth and goal
at Denver's two yard line.

Speaker 8 (01:44:10):
I think they're going for.

Speaker 7 (01:44:12):
It, but the Broncos are on top of the Chiefs
fourteen thirteen, six minutes to go, and they did not.

Speaker 8 (01:44:17):
I don't know.

Speaker 7 (01:44:18):
Actually, my TV might be behind fourth and goal now,
so that was a misthrow there on third and goal.
These Saints are still on top of the Falcons twenty
to seventeen, ten minutes left in that one. The Saints
were hot in the second quarter. They've only hit a
field goal since then. The forty nine Ers have retaken
the lead over the Buccaneers twenty seventeen, six minutes left
in that one. The Commanders, I believe Baker Maker Mayfield

(01:44:39):
just threw an interception. The Commanders now have the ball
on top of the Steelers twenty seven to twenty one,
less than one minute to go in the third. Sam
Darnold has thrown three interceptions. But the Vikings are on
top of the Jags nine to seven. Halfway through the fourth,
and we'll see how these all end. There's a lot
of close ones. Guys still to come. Chargers running back
Gus Edwards defensive ends, Josie Josie, Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack.

(01:45:02):
They are all active against the Titans. Michael Parsons, Trayvon Diggs,
they're active for the Cowboys as they take on the Eagles.
The plan for Parsons is he's going to be on
a snap count as he returns from that high ankle.

Speaker 8 (01:45:13):
Spring back to.

Speaker 3 (01:45:14):
You guys, all right, MONSI thank you very much.

Speaker 2 (01:45:16):
So once again, what we got you now going is
five of the seven games are one score games. So
Bucker did get the field goal for the Chiefs. They
take the lead sixteen to fourteen over the Broncos, still
six minutes to go on the fourth quarter. There you
got the Saints leading the Falcons twenty to seventeen. The
Falcons have the ball nine and a half minutes to
go on the fourth and they're at midfield, so they're

(01:45:38):
driving right now, forty nine ers with the lead and
the ball twenty to seventeen.

Speaker 3 (01:45:43):
After that Mayfield interception.

Speaker 4 (01:45:44):
We've this huge play to Deebo Samuel there now back
into Buccaneers territory.

Speaker 2 (01:45:50):
So the forty nine ers are beginning to heat up
right now. Commanders. Third quarter is now over. Commanders with
the ball and the lead they're at midfield twenty seven
to twenty one against the Steelers, and then this unwatchable
Vikings Jaguars game which the Vikings finally did take the
lead nine to seven Vikings seven minutes to go in
the fourth quarter. So we got several games that figure

(01:46:12):
to go down the stretch. But watching the forty nine Ers,
as you mentioned here, Rich, you know, when you finally
get McCaffrey back in the mix, who's been out all
season long, and of course they had ayukaut. I mean,
they've had injuries throughout the season to all their valuable
offensive weapons. Now it seems like, you know, McCaffrey's getting
his legs, he's starting to get back into a little
rhythm right now. They're using him in the running game,

(01:46:34):
they're using him in the passing game. And if your
brock perty it certainly makes you a little more comfortable
at the quarterback position.

Speaker 3 (01:46:40):
When he got that guy behind you, well, of course.

Speaker 4 (01:46:42):
You know, he changes the dynamic of defensive game plans
completely because he's not just a running back, he's a receiver.
So if you commit to the line of scrimmage, they're
going to hurt you with the with the passing attack
to Kittle and Debo and Ricky Pearsol. Now you know,
there's so many weapons on this offense. And then if

(01:47:04):
you commit a linebacker to him in man coverage, I mean,
he's gonna make you look so foolish. We have a
football on the play and Rock Party put the ball
on the turf and did the Niners recover?

Speaker 3 (01:47:17):
Apparently they were able to survive that one.

Speaker 2 (01:47:19):
By the way, Party in this game is twenty one
to thirty three hundred and fourteen yards and two touchdowns,
the kind of numbers we've seen early in his career
back today. But that time he got stripped of the
ball forty nine ers. Fortunate to recover that very fortunately.

Speaker 3 (01:47:34):
I was close, was that Jennings who was able to
die coming in the Yeah from the outside, Oh my gosh, yeah,
because that was.

Speaker 2 (01:47:42):
Well, that was close. But I mean, you look at
those Rock Party numbers. Those are the numbers we saw,
you know, in the first year and a half of
his career.

Speaker 4 (01:47:50):
And I was about to say early in the season,
you know, think goodness for a guy like Jennings, because
while McCaffrey was out injured and Ayuk was playing terrible football,
never really settled into the season after the holdout during
training camp. They needed somebody to catch passes on third downs,
and he was able to do that for Brock Purdy. Meanwhile,
you know, Christian McCaffrey and Ricky pearsol coming back kind

(01:48:13):
of in quick succession here this season. It puts the
Niners on the map. They're still in contention for their division.
Nobody's really ran away with it, even though the Cardinals
are making a strong case.

Speaker 3 (01:48:26):
And then you look at the NFC in general.

Speaker 4 (01:48:29):
Look, the Detroit Lions are the one sole dominant team,
and then there's a lot underneath them that you can
make an argument for a lot of these teams.

Speaker 3 (01:48:38):
Oh misses a field goal.

Speaker 2 (01:48:40):
Yeah, he just missed a forty four yard field goal,
So Jake Moody, the Wolverine misses. And now the Buccaneers
take over with three nine to go on the fourth quarter,
trailing the forty nine Ers twenty to seventeen.

Speaker 3 (01:48:53):
And because that was.

Speaker 2 (01:48:53):
A missfield goal, they'll get some decent field position to
start this drive. Can Baker Mayfield pull it out? Vikings Meanwhile,
five minutes to go in the fourth quarter, leading the
Jaguars nine to seven, have a third and seven at
the Jacksonville eleven yard line. So it has been an
ugly day for the Vikings. Sam Darnold's throwing three interceptions
into this game, still in a position to win. Broncos

(01:49:17):
and Chiefs six minutes to go. Broncos have not scored
in the second half, no surprise, because that's how the
Chiefs defense has been all season long.

Speaker 3 (01:49:26):
When they need to make plays, they do.

Speaker 2 (01:49:28):
However, the Broncos do have the ball and bow Knicks
has been able to get them moving. They have a
third and two right now, they're near midfield, so at
the very least Broncos trying to get into field goal
position to retake the lead in this game on the
road against the Chiefs. And this kid bo Nicks. Believe me,
he's getting better each week. You could just see it.

(01:49:50):
It's eyeball test, you know. Confidence. Eighteen to twenty six
hundred ninety yards, two touchdowns, zero picks, a short pass
there to eke out a first down. So the Broncos
continue to move the ball. So again it's that relationship
between a coach and a quarterback, and when you get
a young quarterback from day one, as Sean Payton has

(01:50:11):
with bow Knicks, he can really make him into the
quarterback he wants. He can instantly recognize what he does
best put him in a position to succeed. And that's
why bo Knicks has shown week by week improvement in
his game.

Speaker 4 (01:50:27):
I'm a big fan of what they've done with bow Knicks.
I think they gave him a lot to handle out
the gates, and then I think they slowed things down
and they simplified the offense a little bit and gave
him only a few things to worry about or fewer
things to worry about, and also started incorporating more of
his legs in the game plan like that is such

(01:50:47):
a big part of what makes him a special player
is the type of athlete. He is not only accurate
with the football, but he can run it a little
bit too. And so they started doing things that resembled
more of the Oregon Ducks offense instead of the old
Drew Brees Saints offense, and I think that really benefited
Nicks as the season has worn on now here entering
the second half. Now back to the San Francisco forty

(01:51:09):
nine ers game for a second, where they lead in
Tampa Bay twenty to seventeen, they'd be leading by a
lot more. If Jake Moody would hit a field goal.
He's missed three field goals on the day.

Speaker 2 (01:51:20):
Yeah, and that could be the deathnel for any ass
zero line with the Jets. You know, a couple bad
weeks and you're on the unemployment line. There's a lot
of kickers out there. So for Jake Moody, young kicker
who you know, sort of had ups and downs last year,
he's seemed to finally get into a group.

Speaker 3 (01:51:37):
But if you're if you're the reason a team loses.

Speaker 2 (01:51:40):
A game as a kicker, also, that's the easiest way
to find the unemployment line.

Speaker 4 (01:51:44):
And this is just a general note to NFL teams
front office folks. Don't draft kickers like it's never gonna
work out for you. I mean, if it does, like
people would be like, wow, great. You know, you know
there's other teams with undrafted or free agent kickers they
signed who are having just as much success as we are.
It's a thankless it's a thankless thing to do.

Speaker 2 (01:52:07):
Aren't half the kickers in the NFL right now? Ex
Charger kickers?

Speaker 3 (01:52:10):
That might be true, by the way. Also, my point
is they took him in the third round. Forever.

Speaker 4 (01:52:16):
Fans are going to bring that up every single time
he misses a kick, So it's just not worth it.
Even though he won the lou Grose Award, It's never
worth it to draft a kickers.

Speaker 2 (01:52:25):
Well, speaking of kickers, the Vikings just got their fourth
field goal of the game. They lead the Jaguars twelve
to seven, so right now they're trying to hang on
to that lead against Jacksonville. Interesting game actually behind the
other is still twelve minutes to go on the fourth quarter,
Steelers trailing the Commanders twenty seven to twenty one. However,

(01:52:47):
they're on the move right now. They aren't there near
mackup by Naja Harris.

Speaker 3 (01:52:53):
I'll tell you what.

Speaker 4 (01:52:53):
He's been like a battering ram for the Pittsburgh Steelers
this year. I love the way he runs the football.
And Russell Wilson just through an interception on their last drive.
The Steelers defense able to come up with the stop
it up third and won the Commander's stuff. Naji Harris
and one of the Commanders came up with the football.

Speaker 2 (01:53:11):
Well, they're not going to give him the ball, but
he was definitely sure of the first down that was Wow,
did you almost yell out that play? With a straight
off tackle, handoff and the cammander all over that play
that had zero chance of even getting back to the
line of scrimmage. So it's a fourth and one right now,
you're in your own territory still ten and a half

(01:53:32):
minutes ago in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 3 (01:53:33):
You're not gonna go for it? Oh my gosh.

Speaker 4 (01:53:35):
Well, we have an injured stealer on the ground and
it looks like it is Naji Harris.

Speaker 2 (01:53:40):
Well, they're gonna take that time as Naji Harris. All right,
we have hit the two minute warning in Kansas City,
the Broncos trailing the Chiefs sixteen to fourteen. They have
a second and seven at the Kansas City thirty one
On the other side, how is that game going to finish?

Speaker 3 (01:53:57):
Which one of these games is going to go to
the wire.

Speaker 2 (01:54:00):
We'll have all the latest for you right here on
Red Zone Radio. All right, once again Red Zone Radio
live from the ti iraq dot Com studios.

Speaker 3 (01:54:08):
Here is where we are.

Speaker 2 (01:54:10):
The Broncos twenty seconds left and they have a third
and seven at the Kansas City fourteen yard line. So
the Broncos trying to run it down for what would
be a game winning field goal and end the chiefs
undefeated run. So the Broncos behind Bownicks, Who's twenty two

(01:54:31):
thirty two hundred and fifteen yards, two touchdowns and no picks.
He has outplayed Patrick Mahomes today and the Broncos are
now basically taking a knee to set up what would
be a game winning field goal and hand the Chiefs
their first loss of the season. The clock is running down.

(01:54:51):
They'll probably stop it with what three seconds left?

Speaker 4 (01:54:54):
Yeah, Denver has got one remaining timeout and here comes
the timeout call.

Speaker 3 (01:54:58):
Sean Payton hit in a two second. Oh, it's down
a one second. He called it it too, but it
ticked down to one, So this is it? Uh way.

Speaker 2 (01:55:07):
Will Lutz is coming on for what would be a
game winning field goal for the Denver Broncos.

Speaker 6 (01:55:11):
Keeping an eye on the Buccaneers forty nine ers game.
Bucks are into the red zone right now with about
fifty seconds to go.

Speaker 2 (01:55:19):
I believe Yeah, Mayfield has played unreal on this drive.

Speaker 5 (01:55:24):
Speaking of this game too, something to watch. Deebo Samuel
looks like he almost threw a slap at the long
snapper for the forty nine ers. That's a little inter
team anger going wow on the sideline. Yeah got on
the field. Yeah they got too, a little scuffle.

Speaker 2 (01:55:39):
All right, here we go, thirty five yard field goal attempt.
This will win the game for the Denver Broncos and
hand the Kansas City Chiefs their first loss of the season.
The kick is up and it is the Chase blocking
the chase. Hey, undefeated, they cannot.

Speaker 3 (01:55:58):
Be beaten, No way.

Speaker 2 (01:56:00):
It's a thirty five yard field goal attempt to when
the game is blocked by the Chiefs, that thing barely
got off the ground and the Broncos lose and the
Chiefs go to nine and zero.

Speaker 4 (01:56:13):
Unbelievable. The camera was panning around the Chiefs sideline. You
saw Travis Kelsey looking despondent, Patrick Mahomes looking upset, uh
Andy Reid probably making the list of you know, excuses
and explain or or I should say, commentary on the
first loss of the season.

Speaker 3 (01:56:33):
As he's gonna head to the part.

Speaker 2 (01:56:35):
Let's just want to replay what happened here. It looked
like an easy play and it just they got up
in the air and that was just a clean block.

Speaker 3 (01:56:43):
Several guys.

Speaker 4 (01:56:44):
It was a low trajectory kick, so What happened was
you had a strong upfield rush on the outside the
d gap in the sea gap, and you had a
defensive end who I believe got his hands on it
coming up right off of the offensive tackle from the
left side of the formation. And remember this was an
angled kick. So will Lust will Lutz must have communicated

(01:57:06):
to cham Paynton, I want to kick it from the
right hash.

Speaker 3 (01:57:10):
Welly, here we go.

Speaker 2 (01:57:11):
Game time field goal for the Bucks right now, forty
four seconds to go. Forty nine Ers lead the Bucks
twenty to seventeen. This is a chip shot twenty six
yards shorter than an extra point.

Speaker 3 (01:57:22):
It is good.

Speaker 2 (01:57:23):
So the Buccaneers have tied this game against the forty
nine Ers forty one seconds to go in regulation. Meanwhile,
the Steelers on a four down did they miss a
field goal? The ball got turned over. Now there's still
seven minutes to go on these game. But the Commanders
still have the ball and the league because I know
the Steelers.

Speaker 3 (01:57:41):
No, they were right inside the ten yards life fumbled.

Speaker 5 (01:57:44):
Yeah, the Steelers fumbled.

Speaker 3 (01:57:45):
They the Steelers fumbled. Wow.

Speaker 2 (01:57:48):
Okay, all right, so here's a quick update on everything.
Patriots leading the Bears nineteen to three of that game's over,
two minutes to go Bills against the call thirty to
thirteen Bills.

Speaker 3 (01:57:58):
Three minutes ago, that game's over.

Speaker 2 (01:58:00):
Saints have the ball and the lead twenty to seventeen
against the Falcons. We're inside two minutes to go. There
we mentioned the forty nine Ers and Bucks are tied,
Commanders leading the Steelers by six, seven minutes to go.
And the other game down the stretch is the Vikings
and the Jaguars, and the Jaguars have the ball at
the Minnesota forty three yard line with under two minutes

(01:58:24):
to go, So the Jaguars with a late drive trying
to pull out a win at home here against the
Minnesota Vikings.

Speaker 4 (01:58:31):
I just can't get over what we saw in the
Kansas City Chiefs game. I mean, the Kansas City Chiefs
game played awful again. The Denver Broncos played good enough
to win that game and set themselves up for a
last minute walk off field goal and they get blocked.

Speaker 3 (01:58:46):
A bit about the luck of the Irish, the luck
of the Chiefs.

Speaker 2 (01:58:49):
I mean, it really is, what are we gonna say
at the end of the year when the Chiefs go
twenty to zero and win a Super.

Speaker 4 (01:58:54):
Bowl I mean, it's going to feel like one of
those things where you know people are going to demand
a recount.

Speaker 3 (01:59:02):
I mean the news. I mean, it's like it can't.

Speaker 2 (01:59:07):
By the way, the only team that ever ran the
table is the seventy two Dolphins. If you look at
that season, they only beat one team going into the postseason.
They even had a winning record. They had the easiest
schedule in the league. That's why some people downplay that.
But whatever it is, the Chiefs find a way. All right,
some more exciting finishes coming up. We got it covered
for you.

Speaker 3 (01:59:25):
Keep it here. This is Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 2 (01:59:27):
Another crazy Sunday in the NFL. This is Red Zone
Radio and we're broadcasting live from the ti rag dot
com studios.

Speaker 3 (01:59:34):
Tyre rag dot com. We're gonna help get you there.
I'm not matched.

Speaker 2 (01:59:37):
Selection fast free shipping, free road aster protection, over ten
thousand recommended installers, tire rack dot com, the way tire
bind should be.

Speaker 3 (01:59:44):
All right. Well, you heard from Montci on the update.

Speaker 2 (01:59:47):
The forty nine ers pull it out as Moody, after
missing three field goals, gets the game winner. We just
saw the end of this Saints Falcons game. The clock
was running. The Falcons were out of timeouts, they were
not quite in field goal position. They ran a play
try to run to the sideline, did not get there
in time. So the Saints hang on to win, breaking

(02:00:08):
their seven game losing streak. But it was their interim
coach Darren Rizzy. Yeah, as he was obviously celebrating the
win and he's heading toward midfield and then he turns
and goes ballistic on.

Speaker 3 (02:00:23):
One of his own players and then ends up hugging
the guy.

Speaker 2 (02:00:27):
And I'm looking at this Rizzy guy like, Okay, this
guy is completely out of control. I'm not quite sure
what is going on, but I can't imagine what happened
where he would go ballistic on one of his own
players after a win.

Speaker 3 (02:00:42):
Well, I couldn't.

Speaker 4 (02:00:43):
Tell if it was if he was mad at him
or if he was celebrating and there was some sort
of conversation.

Speaker 3 (02:00:51):
I he went completely off the deep end. We'll, we'll, we'll.

Speaker 4 (02:00:56):
Get a recap in the presser, But yeah, the Saints
find a way. The forty nine ers week went out
after Jake Moody misses three field goals during this one,
he hits the game winner against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
San Francisco now improves to five and four on the season,
and you start looking at Rock Party and the collection
of talent they have around this roster, and he's playing

(02:01:18):
pretty good football. He threw for three point fifty three
twenty five of thirty six today, two touchdowns. I mean,
that was an impressive outing for Rock Party. He made
some tough throws today under pressure.

Speaker 2 (02:01:28):
Yeah, he looked much better obviously when McCaffrey back in
the lineup. Vikings have now secured the twelve to seven
win over the Jaguars.

Speaker 3 (02:01:35):
It was ugly.

Speaker 2 (02:01:37):
Sam Darnold threw three picks in this game, but the
Jaguars with Mac Jones because could not generate any offense.
So the Vikings take the win and they move on
to seven and two. The Bills have wrapped up their game.
Well it's actually not one hundred percent over the Colts
trying to get a late meaningless touchdown, but the Bills
will also move to eight and two of the win
today against the Colts. So we have the Steelers Commanders

(02:02:00):
game here. Rich The Steelers have the ball, they're trailing
by six. We got two and a half minutes to
go in the fourth quarter, and this has been a
game where the Steelers have had opportunities and they just
have not been able to make the plays necessary. But again,
don't we see this week after week with the Steelers.

Speaker 4 (02:02:20):
Well yeah, well the problem is they've been uncharacteristically careless
with the football here in the second half. So they
answer a field goal drive for the Washington Commanders with
an interception thrown after three plays by Russell Wilson, they
forced the Commanders to punt. They get it all the
way down to the one yard line of the Washington
Commanders and Warren fumbles at the goal line. Yeah, so

(02:02:44):
you have a fumble, give the ball back to the Commanders.
They force them to punt again. A three and out
by Washington, and now they're driving again at the Washington
thirty two. They had to take a time out there.

Speaker 2 (02:02:55):
Yeah, they got a third and nine right now at
the thirty two yard line.

Speaker 3 (02:02:59):
Again, they need a touchdown.

Speaker 2 (02:03:00):
So two and a half minutes to go on third
and nine, Russell Wilson, under pressure throws.

Speaker 3 (02:03:04):
The ball and that is going to be touchdown.

Speaker 2 (02:03:07):
Steelers. Touchdown Steelers right there. Whoa a perfect play by
Russell Wilson. Flashbacks of his hey David ac he never
seigns feat Williams, and he threw it absolutely perfect under pressure,
and the Steelers are an extra point away from taking
the lead.

Speaker 3 (02:03:25):
Somehow, the Steelers.

Speaker 4 (02:03:26):
Find a way, so Tomlin's staff trade for Mike Williams
and they look like geniuses. Now in the gotta have
it moment, they have Mike run the go and he
burns his corner up the sideline and Russ Wilson has
mentioned under great duress in the pocket, a fade away
per moonshot perfectly lands in the arms of number eighteen

(02:03:47):
Mike Williams for the score. So okay, if the ensuing
extra point is good, this puts the Pittsburgh Steelers ahead
by one.

Speaker 3 (02:03:54):
And it is twenty eight twenty seven, right, but where
commanders are trilling the Pittsburgh Steelers but they're anternity left.

Speaker 2 (02:04:03):
Yeah, and Washington has the two minute warning and all
three timeouts trailing by one.

Speaker 3 (02:04:09):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (02:04:09):
So, Jayden Daniels, we mentioned you going in by the way,
Russell Wilson three touchdown passes on the day, one hundred
ninety nine yards passing. Jayden Daniels has yet to throw
a touchdown pass. But here you go for the rookie. Right,
you got everything you need. You got plenty of time
to twenty two to go in the fourth quarter, you
have all three timeouts plus the two minute.

Speaker 3 (02:04:28):
Warning, and you're down one. So you want to run
the clock down.

Speaker 2 (02:04:31):
You want to get into field goal position, you know,
pull it out, just like the Broncos.

Speaker 3 (02:04:35):
Did against Wait a second, they missed. There's a block
field goals, blockfield off.

Speaker 2 (02:04:41):
I mean, it's not it's not guarantee if you run
down the clock and get a chip shot field goal,
that you're gonna win the game.

Speaker 3 (02:04:47):
No, no, no, no. Because this is the NFL where
the Chiefs play.

Speaker 2 (02:04:53):
Say all right, well that's all going on. We have
the Chargers Titans game underway. The Chargers come in at
five and three. Believe even out right now, the Chargers
are a playoff team in the AFC.

Speaker 3 (02:05:05):
Well, I could believe it for one reason and one
reason only. Yeah, and it's Jim Harbor, no question, Jim Harbaugh.

Speaker 4 (02:05:10):
Every place he's gone, they've immediately gotten better.

Speaker 2 (02:05:13):
By the way, It's amazing that in the city of
Los Angeles, where the NFL apparently still hasn't been discovered yet,
for either of the Rams or Chargers, They literally play
their home games in front of crowds that are predominantly
for the other team, and yet they are blessed with
two of the absolute best coaches in the league in
Jim Harbor and Sean McVay.

Speaker 3 (02:05:35):
Yeah, it it Well, it's good timing though. Let's face it.

Speaker 4 (02:05:39):
So if you have Sean McVay and you have a
lot of young Rams fans starting to watch this team
talking about talk about it in their middle schools and
their high schools, they're going to raise their kids Rams fans.
It takes a full generation for an NFL team to
really win the hearts and minds of a city, and
so it's gonna take that time. Same with the Chargers.

(02:05:59):
If they can start having success here, win a Super
Bowl with Jim Harbaughs, something that he's been able to
contend for in his time as a head coach in
the NFL, He's won a national championship, most recently with
the Wolverines. At the collegiate level, well, then all of
a sudden, you have an argument to be made for
the Chargers building a fan base. But again, both these
teams are generation away from anybody carrying in in the

(02:06:23):
market they play in.

Speaker 3 (02:06:24):
All right.

Speaker 2 (02:06:24):
Bill's final score beat the Colts twenty at thirteen, Colts
to get that late touchdown. Josh Allen no touchdown passes today,
two interceptions.

Speaker 3 (02:06:32):
He did run for a touchdown.

Speaker 2 (02:06:33):
We have a Joe Blackell through three interceptions today.

Speaker 3 (02:06:38):
Yeah, we have an injury there.

Speaker 4 (02:06:42):
So high Smith when he was coming in to sack
Jade and Daniels.

Speaker 2 (02:06:47):
It looks left leg. Ah, there goes that ankle.

Speaker 3 (02:06:50):
Yeah yeah, yeah. Is that a turn or is that
a break? What do you think? It's so hard to say?

Speaker 2 (02:06:55):
Atlanta right on the foot and absolutely went sideways.

Speaker 9 (02:06:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:06:58):
Yeah, So that is the rebounder's ankle sprain. Like you
see this all the time on basketball when somebody's coming
down with the basketball from the rim they win on
somebody's foot.

Speaker 3 (02:07:09):
Well, they're getting him off the field.

Speaker 2 (02:07:10):
Hopefully it's nothing more than a really rolled ankle. Bad
but yikes, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. He is going
to be hobbling off the field.

Speaker 3 (02:07:18):
All right.

Speaker 2 (02:07:19):
So here's where we are right now, the Commanders trailing
the Steelers twenty eight to twenty seven and two sixteen
to go to twelve to go right now, So again,
the Commanders still have three timeouts and the two minute warning.
They have a second and ten at their own thirty
five yard line because on that play was an incomplete
pass by Jaden Daniels. But again for Jaden Daniels. You

(02:07:40):
look at how the NFC East is looking right now.
Obviously the Giants are dead and the Colts, i mean
the Cowboys are right with him.

Speaker 3 (02:07:48):
But the Commanders come into this game with a half.

Speaker 2 (02:07:51):
Game lead over the Eagles, who are about to kick
off their game on the road against the Cowboys. All right,
so right now, Daniels completes a pass that's going to
take us to the two minute warning. So they are
at mid field and you know, again three timeouts, they
can pretty much do what they want, but they still
need to get some yards. And as we saw at

(02:08:11):
the end of that Denver Kansas City game, there is
no guarantee kicks in the National Football Line. But we
have a little time here. So Eagles at the Cowboys, Cowboys.
Cooper Rush is going to be a quarterback for the Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (02:08:25):
Today. The Eagles are sitting at six and two. But
much like last.

Speaker 2 (02:08:29):
Year, they don't overwhelm you, you know, they just they
just haven't played super football Hurts. His numbers are very ordinary. Obviously,
Saquon Barkley has given them a much needed boost to
their running game.

Speaker 3 (02:08:42):
But will it be enough to beat the Cowboys, who
have yet to win a home game all season.

Speaker 4 (02:08:47):
Well, yes, the answer is yes, it could be enough,
And if I were a betting man, I would bet
on the Eagles over the Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (02:08:55):
Here's here's the deal.

Speaker 4 (02:08:56):
The Eagles kind of remind me of the San Francisco
forty nine ers run start to the season, getting better
as the season rolls on. Jellen Hurts looking better as
the season rolls on, similar to Brock Perdy. You know
now the Niners had a bigger excuse with some injuries
to key players, and they're getting healthier as the season
goes on. The Philadelphi Eagles haven't had as many excuses,

(02:09:18):
but they do look better, and I think it's mainly
behind the play of the very active and successful Saquon Barkley.
He has been the reason for the Eagles' success. You
got to keep him healthy, and I don't know if
that means you keep an eye on his usage or
you find clever ways to get him the football more
in space in the passing game, but that guy's got

(02:09:39):
to stay healthy for the Eagles to have a chance
this season.

Speaker 2 (02:09:42):
Opening drive for the Chargers and they're going right down
the field right now.

Speaker 3 (02:09:45):
We mentioned the fact that the Titans come in with.

Speaker 2 (02:09:47):
The number one total defense that's based on yards allowed
in the NFL. However, they're twenty seventh in the league
in scoring defense. The one thing they have done very
well this year is defend the pass. They're number one
a league in pass defense. But justin Herber right now,
four for four to thirty one yards on this opening drive.

Speaker 4 (02:10:07):
So you know, just had a nice little rushing first
down there, and he's ran the ball twice down on
this drive and he's looked really comfortable doing it. So
getting it done with his feet and his arm so
far on this drive is justin Herbert. They got a
first and goal deep inside Tennessee's territory here, scoreless in
the first quarter, nine to fifty left on the clock,

(02:10:28):
and they're getting into that classic Jim Harbaugh two tight
end I formation under center balance front. Let's see what
they run here.

Speaker 3 (02:10:37):
Oh yeah, it's lead ISO off the right side down
to the five yard line. I mean, this is like
nineteen nineties Dallas Cowboys Emmett Smith football.

Speaker 2 (02:10:46):
Well, again, when you're number one receiver is a rookie
named mcakey, who's what and eighty pounds?

Speaker 3 (02:10:51):
Yeah, I mean one hundred eighty pounds in stea remember
this clothing.

Speaker 2 (02:10:55):
You have three first round picks on that offensive line
for the Chargers. Again, this is a This is a
coach saying, all right, what do I have here?

Speaker 3 (02:11:03):
Yes? What do I have?

Speaker 2 (02:11:04):
And the other big story I have seen for the
Chargers has been that defense. Their defense has been outstanding
this season.

Speaker 3 (02:11:12):
And by the way, on.

Speaker 2 (02:11:13):
Herbert's numbers this year, through the first eight games, he
has thrown one interception, so you know what happens a
lot of times. And we saw this with Brandon Staley
where he says, I got this great talent and I'm gonna,
you know, force him to make place for me, you know,
going for on fourth down and try.

Speaker 3 (02:11:32):
And Jim Harbaugh is.

Speaker 2 (02:11:34):
Like, no, First of all, I played quarterbacks, so I
know the position pretty well, Jim Harris said. And he's saying,
look it. The bottom line is for Justin Herbert, we
want to win games. So the first thing we want
to do is avoid turnovers. That puts us in a
bad situation. If we can make some plays, We're gonna
make some plays. We're gonna run the football. We're gonna
get balancing this offense. And it has worked to perfection.

(02:11:56):
That's why Jim Harbaugh is who he is. He's one
of the absolute best coaches in the NFL. All Right,
we got a third and goal for the Chargers right now.
Herbert's going to scramble up the middle and he's going
to be short.

Speaker 3 (02:12:06):
Yeah, he gets down to the two yard line. So
it looks like they got a decision to make.

Speaker 4 (02:12:10):
Are they going to go for it early here on
the fourth down or are they going to settle for three?

Speaker 3 (02:12:14):
All right, So here's sore.

Speaker 2 (02:12:15):
We are with the Commanders and the Steelers, and now
all of a sudden, the Commanders have a fourth and nine.
We mentioned they got to midfield, but now they have
fourth and nine at midfield with a minute twenty eight
to go, So this is it.

Speaker 3 (02:12:28):
Washington has yet to use any of their timeouts.

Speaker 4 (02:12:30):
On a deep throw down the near sideline, it was
Noah Brown who is trying to catch the contested pass
from Jaden Daniels. No call, by the way, as he
was working back through the defender.

Speaker 3 (02:12:44):
Here interference.

Speaker 2 (02:12:45):
The Commanders have converted on every fourth down they've had
this season.

Speaker 3 (02:12:50):
And they do again. Oh my goodness. Where do they
mark the ball? They market short?

Speaker 2 (02:12:55):
They market short. Okay, this is going to be reviewed
because it's short. And yeah, okay, so again is it
where the ball is? They're they're pointing at Steelers ball.

Speaker 3 (02:13:10):
He was right on. Whatever the marker is.

Speaker 6 (02:13:12):
This is gonna be This is gonna be tough because
that means that they have to overturn the call on
the field goes down.

Speaker 3 (02:13:19):
That's where it is. Oh yeah, oh that I can't
believe it.

Speaker 2 (02:13:22):
Yeah, they got him, Yeah, they got him. He's short,
that is because if you look where his knee went down,
his knee definitely went down in front of the markers.

Speaker 3 (02:13:33):
So that's where there is going to be marked. And
so by the way, though.

Speaker 2 (02:13:36):
This game isn't over yet because the Commanders still have
all three of their timeouts, so a minute eighteen to
go about that.

Speaker 3 (02:13:45):
Throw from Jayden Daniels to his tight end, you're looking
for another hail Mary? Was that Pierre who tried to
catch that? And and I mean.

Speaker 2 (02:13:53):
Just unfortunately for him, he was trying to reach across.
But look at his knees down clearly in front. So
there's should be no review on this.

Speaker 3 (02:14:01):
Here's short.

Speaker 4 (02:14:01):
Here's the coaching point on this play. When you are
expected to run a sticks route, he did it. Look,
he did the right thing. He worked back downhill toward
the line of scrimmage. He made a catching surface for
his quarterback to throw to. But you have got to
get past. Yeah, the yard of game now he was,
but he was working back downhill.

Speaker 2 (02:14:21):
The question is where he came back to get the
ball right which his knee went down?

Speaker 3 (02:14:25):
Yeah, he's short.

Speaker 5 (02:14:26):
I don't think he can overturn it if they called it.
If they called it turnover round downs on the field,
you can't overturn that.

Speaker 2 (02:14:31):
There's no way that's is. He's clearly down. The knee
is down right there, and the ball. Look where the
ball is? Yeah, the ball, And no, he reached back.
Wait wait, let's see, we'll get to see if his
knees down. So this is twenty eight, twenty seven ball
game in Washington. Steelers have the lead. This is the
fourth down play.

Speaker 4 (02:14:50):
Jayden Daniels found his tight end and it was a
nine yard pass. Exactly nine yard pass the question is
did he get enough for the first down?

Speaker 3 (02:15:00):
And they're showing every angle and I.

Speaker 2 (02:15:02):
Don't see right the ball is he's the ball's facing
the other way when he went down.

Speaker 6 (02:15:07):
Remember call on the field, Yeah, call in the field
is Steelers ball.

Speaker 3 (02:15:12):
So that's going to factor into whatever they do here.

Speaker 2 (02:15:14):
Okay, well, they're still reviewing this play, but according to
what we're seeing here, and of course that doesn't mean
it's true, but what we're seeing is based on where
the ball is and where his knee is down he
was short.

Speaker 4 (02:15:25):
And how about these two Pittsburgh Steelers defenders Dimnte Casey
and thirty nine I'm blanket on his name, but able
to come up and wrapping them up. Yeah, making this stop.
They just saved the game because they were.

Speaker 2 (02:15:39):
Ball, and the call is playstance, Steelers ball. Now again,
the Commanders still have all three of their timeouts remaining,
so a minute eighteen to go and the Steelers will
take over at their own forty two yard line. But again,
the Commanders can stop the clock three times.

Speaker 4 (02:16:01):
Yeah, I'm trying to do the math here. I mean
each play takes about seven seconds, so that's it. Already
one seconds he stopped the clock three times, you get
so you need a first down. Steelers need a first down.

Speaker 2 (02:16:14):
Right, So here's the first play they run the ball,
time out. Okay, now we're down a minute twelve. So yeah,
I mean, if the Steelers get a first down, the
game is all the game's over.

Speaker 3 (02:16:23):
But if they.

Speaker 2 (02:16:24):
Don't, then it'll be a long field. We might as
well just keep it right here right now. I mean,
we're down the stretch on this game here, so we'll
just keep it right here. But second and seven right
now for the Steelers. Here's the forty five yard line.

Speaker 9 (02:16:39):
Now.

Speaker 4 (02:16:40):
The coaching point for the Commanders, and I've been on
the sidelines in games like this is get that ball
out of a running back's hand. So I mean, you you,
you are going to see these command I mean, if
they're well coached, you're going to see Commanders players punching
for that football as soon as a Steelers player gets
wrapped up. We'll see what happens here on the second
in seven play. And Harris came back in the game

(02:17:02):
after what looked like a pretty significant injury earlier in
the fourth quarter.

Speaker 2 (02:17:06):
All right, they're gonna toss it to him and he
gets hit hard and for a loss and he goes
down immediately. Only four seconds went off the clock in
that play, so a minute eight second timeout, and the
Commanders still have another timeout.

Speaker 3 (02:17:20):
So I'll tell you what.

Speaker 2 (02:17:22):
You know, they're gonna get the ball back barring some
kind of third down. I mean, if you're the Steelers
right now, are you going for the first down to
put this game away? Are you willing to just because
again they're gonna be car to be Yeah?

Speaker 3 (02:17:35):
No, no, no, no no, Well you run the ball
for another they're getting four seconds. Yeah no, you don't.
You do not throw the football. You do not throw.

Speaker 2 (02:17:43):
But the other team has a timeout, so they're guaranteed
to stop the clock on a run immediately, and you
would have no chance with a run play up the
middle to get a first down.

Speaker 3 (02:17:51):
So the clock's gonna stop one where. I get what
you're saying, but I mean, I.

Speaker 2 (02:17:55):
Do understand that if they don't have to use a timeout,
then they would have a timeout.

Speaker 3 (02:17:59):
In their That's my point is you force them to
burn that time out.

Speaker 2 (02:18:03):
You run the football, all right, Well they're running the
football and he's gonna get the corner, but he's gonna
come up short.

Speaker 3 (02:18:09):
But now look at this, No he's short. Okay, No,
I'm saying now you have a hard decision to make.

Speaker 2 (02:18:14):
If you're Pittsburgh, you're gonna go for on fourth down
at midfield.

Speaker 3 (02:18:17):
It's fourth No way, you got a hard decision to make.
That is no decisions. You're gonna go for on fourth
down at midfield? You guys have never seen one. You've
never seen a Russell Wilson QB sneak.

Speaker 2 (02:18:29):
Yeah, okay, no, no, no, no, no, no.

Speaker 9 (02:18:32):
No, no.

Speaker 2 (02:18:33):
I will promise you Mike Tomlin is not gonna go
for it on fourth and one.

Speaker 6 (02:18:38):
At Midfield's not gonna let Russ cook No, no, no way.

Speaker 5 (02:18:43):
Maybe not Russ. But do you put justin Fields in there?

Speaker 3 (02:18:46):
I actually don't. All right, well, there's what they're if
they go for it, I'll put it this way. If
they go for this and don't get it and handle,
they're gonna go. They're gonna go for it. They are
going for it a time. Tomlin is yelling like, what
do we get? Can we get? Steve cam going yeah,
we may have to finish the show.

Speaker 6 (02:19:07):
With action station Steve Hartman, this is humbly all right,
So there's a minute two to go.

Speaker 2 (02:19:15):
Pittsburgh has a one point lead. They have a fourth
and one, and they are going to go on fourth
and one.

Speaker 3 (02:19:22):
It's a decision.

Speaker 2 (02:19:23):
If they don't get it, you are literally handing the
ball to the Commanders at midfield where they would need
twenty yards and again and they lose on why are
you not punting the ball?

Speaker 3 (02:19:35):
So here's the deal. I'm going to assume that you
get everyone to the line.

Speaker 2 (02:19:40):
Wait, Heelers are running to the line of scrimmage, all right,
they're digging in and here comes the long count by Rose.

Speaker 3 (02:19:45):
Oh they got Oh my god, they actually give.

Speaker 2 (02:19:50):
Somebody would absolutely brain dead on the Commanders lie and
he jumped off side and that is the game. No
believe that? On that are you kidding me? See now
that's bad coaching. Oh yeah, it's as bad as he gets.

Speaker 3 (02:20:07):
What does he tackle?

Speaker 2 (02:20:10):
I can't believe he So he literally is lin up
over the ball.

Speaker 3 (02:20:16):
He's literally light up over the ball.

Speaker 2 (02:20:18):
He can see it. And Russell Wilson got it. So
Russell Wilson got it.

Speaker 3 (02:20:23):
As it turns out, Russ ken Cook believe a ball.
The Steelers go home. Oh that's okay, that's okay. It's
not okay. All right, it is not okay okay, So
now they take an of this.

Speaker 2 (02:20:35):
So the Steelers find a way again to win a
game that they probably shouldn't have won. Twenty eight to
twenty seven will be the final score as the Steelers
and the Commanders their first home loss of the year.
How will that film room go for that guy?

Speaker 3 (02:20:50):
Uh, that's a long hard day. That's a long hard day.

Speaker 4 (02:20:54):
The only thing you're you're you're please to punch with
is the fact that it's a it's a home game,
So at least don't got to get on the plane
with your teammates and face everybody in the TSA security line.

Speaker 2 (02:21:04):
By the way, Will Levis forty two yard touchdown pass
to Ridley Boom. Just like that, the Titans take the
lead against the Jars.

Speaker 4 (02:21:13):
Little what's rudal about that? Is Dan Quinn defensive minded
head coach. I mean he's gonna have to wear that
one so hard. That's that is a victory potential.

Speaker 2 (02:21:23):
Is literally line up over the ball. Yeah, he's literally
looking at the ball. Oh and he had just brained dead.
All right, we will roll on much more coming up
here on Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 1 (02:21:34):
Tightly bunch formation Wilson.

Speaker 12 (02:21:36):
Oh my goodness, they got him, the Commanders to jump.

Speaker 11 (02:21:41):
I was sitting going no way they snapped this ball,
but he got him to jump.

Speaker 1 (02:21:48):
Jalen Holmes, let's get the call.

Speaker 11 (02:21:52):
Neutral zone infraction defense number ninety five, tiguard penalty.

Speaker 1 (02:21:58):
Down Johnny Newton, then Newton.

Speaker 2 (02:22:03):
That's one O two point five WDVEE Steelers Radio Network.

Speaker 3 (02:22:08):
Somebody goes brain dead.

Speaker 2 (02:22:10):
You lose a football game, and that's what happened today
to the Commanders as the Steelers walk away with the
twenty eight to twenty seven victory on the road against
the watching Commanders.

Speaker 3 (02:22:20):
Once again, this is.

Speaker 2 (02:22:20):
Red Zone Radio. We are live from the tire Rack
dot Com studios. Let's not waste any time. Let's find
out what is trending right now. All the morning games
are over and we got new games underway.

Speaker 3 (02:22:33):
Moncie, I am just.

Speaker 7 (02:22:35):
Tired from what happened that crazy thirty minutes. I mean,
I didn't have this on my bingo card that the
Chiefs would stand defeated by blocking a field goal attempt.

Speaker 8 (02:22:48):
With no time on the clock. What are we doing?
I cannot so.

Speaker 7 (02:22:52):
Yeah, Chiefs stay undefeed of nine to zero. They beat
the Broncos sixteen to fourteen. Patrick Mahomes twenty to forty
two sixty six yards and one touchdown.

Speaker 8 (02:23:01):
Bon Nicks twenty two of thirty, two hundred and fifteen yards.

Speaker 7 (02:23:04):
And two touchdowns. So yeah, undefeated Kansas City stays. The
Bills improved to eight and two. They had a thirty
to twenty win over the Colts. Bill's defense kind of
started everything off with a pick six literally as the
game started.

Speaker 8 (02:23:16):
Josh Allen didn't throw a touchdown pass.

Speaker 7 (02:23:19):
He did throw two interceptions, but he had fifty yards
and a touchdown on the ground to go along with.

Speaker 8 (02:23:23):
Two hundred and eighty yards in the air. The Steelers,
oh that one. They all got to defeat the Commanders
twenty eight to twenty seven.

Speaker 7 (02:23:30):
Rich explained to me, like, I'm five, what is the
difference between off sides and neutral zone infraction?

Speaker 3 (02:23:38):
They are the same thing, thank you?

Speaker 9 (02:23:39):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (02:23:40):
Yeah, yeah, They're synonymous.

Speaker 4 (02:23:41):
So when official really wants to sound smart, he says
neutral zone infraction.

Speaker 7 (02:23:48):
I wrote down as it was happening, I was like,
off sides, they took.

Speaker 3 (02:23:50):
The bait, and then it just sounds a little fancy,
yeh yeh. Neutral cells. The official call.

Speaker 7 (02:23:56):
Was neutral zone infraction, and then I looked it up
and I was like, this is the same it is.

Speaker 3 (02:24:01):
It is. No, you're fine, You're fine.

Speaker 10 (02:24:03):
Gray.

Speaker 8 (02:24:03):
I'm gonna ask Ritch. I hope you can explain it
to me like I'm five. Russell Wilson has won three
in a row as the Stealers starter the forty nine ers.

Speaker 7 (02:24:10):
They walk it off on a forty four yard field
goal to beat the Buccaneers twenty three to twenty. After
Jake Moody missed three field goals. He hits the game
a winner. Christian McCaffrey first game back, thirteen carries, thirty
nine yards. Gotta mention Ricky wide receiver Ricky Piersol, who
caught his first NFL touchdown. Who we know just what
ten weeks ago was shot in the chest during.

Speaker 8 (02:24:28):
Attempt at robbery. Here he is being a badass.

Speaker 7 (02:24:31):
The same held on to defeat the Falcons twenty to seventeen.
New Orlands scored seventeen points in the second quarter and
only three points in the second half, and they still won.

Speaker 8 (02:24:39):
Falcons fall to six and four. Saints are now three
and seven. The Vikings. It was not pretty. I would
say it was actually ugly.

Speaker 7 (02:24:46):
But they beat the Jaguars twelve to seven and improved
to seven and two the Patriots. Okay, this was ugly
too on the Bear side, but the Patriots outscored the Bears.

Speaker 8 (02:24:53):
Nineteen to three.

Speaker 7 (02:24:55):
Drake May fifteen of twenty five, one hundred and eighty
four yards, one touchdown and one interception in the win.
Three games going on right now, Jets and Cardinals. That
was a crazy drive by James Connor.

Speaker 8 (02:25:05):
Cardinals on the score.

Speaker 7 (02:25:08):
Board, Maybe get that Kim knopped out short.

Speaker 8 (02:25:16):
I think he's short. I think they're saying second in
goal now, James Conners.

Speaker 3 (02:25:20):
It was so close, It was.

Speaker 7 (02:25:21):
So close, so scoreless against the Jets, but they just
got going in the first quarter. Eagles, Cowboys also scoreless
early in the first quarter. The Titans are beating the
Chargers now seven to three with one minute to go
in the first Calvin Ridley connecting with Will Levis on
a forty two yard touchdown pass.

Speaker 4 (02:25:38):
Yeah, James Conner just just made you right. They give
it to him again, and I mean it was a
walk in.

Speaker 3 (02:25:45):
Yeah, untouched, Yeah, untouched.

Speaker 2 (02:25:47):
So the Cardinals take the early six to nothing lead
against the Jets.

Speaker 3 (02:25:50):
All right, mon see Crazy Day.

Speaker 8 (02:25:52):
Your see Day.

Speaker 2 (02:26:04):
Just search Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your podcasts.
You'll see this show posted right after we get off
the air. Red Zone Radio Steve Harbn Rich Ornberger with
you so Rich fourteen games this week. Four teams have
the week off, the Browns, Packers, Raiders, and Seahawks. Of
the nine games played this week, seven have been decided
by five points or less.

Speaker 3 (02:26:24):
Man, that's fun.

Speaker 2 (02:26:25):
Six have been decided by three points or less. So
we've it has been one of those weeks where we
got a lot of tight games. And right now Cardinal's
up seven to nothing over the Jets, Titans, with the
seven to three lead against the Chargers, and no score
right now with the Eagles and the Cowboys. I know
that bo Our Steam producer is sporting the mona. Is

(02:26:48):
this because of his USC ties that you agreed to
wear this jersey?

Speaker 3 (02:26:52):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (02:26:53):
And I've always been a big fan of Amenra. I
think he's the perfect little gnat too. I love his
work on the podcast and how much he doesn't care
about what he says about other teams on there. It's
pretty fun.

Speaker 2 (02:27:02):
Well, let me ask you this, By the way, the
Eagles have had a punt and not a good punt
into the end zone.

Speaker 5 (02:27:08):
Can touched back to convert third and thirty three there.

Speaker 2 (02:27:11):
Yeah, so how bad of the loss would this be
if the Eagles were loose to the Cowboys today?

Speaker 5 (02:27:17):
And that's why I reserve judgment on next coach should
be fired? Because if the Eagles lose this game to
this Cowboys team, depending on the fashion they do it,
and I will struggle to find a reason to keep
Nick Sirianni around.

Speaker 3 (02:27:28):
Yeah, some hots heats around even at six wins.

Speaker 6 (02:27:30):
Here, I guess this is the question I'm trying to
get well swearing a circle, because even at six wins,
it's not like they're out of the NFC East picture
at all, especially after this Commander's loss.

Speaker 5 (02:27:40):
That I think is the most frustrating thing is you
always hear about how talented this Eagles team is, and
yet they still find how about this to snatch victory
from the Jaws at defeat.

Speaker 2 (02:27:47):
I don't know if I've seen this before. Jalen Hurts
is zero for zero and he's been sacked twice. So
in other words, he's gone back to pass twice in
this game, and both times he was that's right. So
they have negative eighteen net yards passing without an official attempt.

Speaker 3 (02:28:07):
Well, so no attempts, no yards, but two sacks.

Speaker 5 (02:28:12):
Bo also told me a stat in the control room
here that kind of blew my mind a little bit.
That And I mean, one of the it's it's kind
of interesting because one of these is obviously non play.
But but how many times have Jalen Hurst and Dak
Prescott ever met? Oh, the game, they've played with each other,
like three times.

Speaker 4 (02:28:29):
Yeah they are, Yeah, it's strange, but yeah, they haven't
been available to face each other an awful lot. And
what's interesting about this Eagles team. I agree with everything
you just said. I think they're one of the most
talented groups in the country. When you look at them
compared to the rest of the NFC roster to roster,

(02:28:50):
you can make the argument that outside of Detroit, but
even maybe including Detroit, they've got the most, if not
the second most talented team put together combined in the league.

Speaker 3 (02:29:02):
Or I should say, in the conference, and they're just underwhelming.

Speaker 4 (02:29:06):
And it's because coaching, it's because lack of continuity. I mean,
injuries obviously to your receivers earlier in the season.

Speaker 3 (02:29:15):
But I don't know.

Speaker 4 (02:29:17):
I don't know if Sirianni is gonna have a job
after this season, even if this team does make the
postseason and have an early exit, because I just don't
think that. I don't think he's getting enough out of
this team so far.

Speaker 2 (02:29:29):
All right, the Jets spot the Cardinals the first score
of the game. Remember, the Cardinals right now are leading
the NFC West at five and four because the forty
nine ers have matched that with their win today. But
the Cardinals, with a victory today would maintain their lead
in the NFC West three game winning streaks. So they're
playing some good football.

Speaker 1 (02:29:47):
Now.

Speaker 2 (02:29:48):
The big question is where are the Jets. They finally
snapped their losing street. They got a victory last week
against the Texans. It wasn't always pretty, but at w's
a W. They're past midfield right now against the Cardinals,
and you know, it's sort of I asked this question,
what seems more likely a Cardinals four game winning streak
or a Jets two game winning streak.

Speaker 3 (02:30:08):
I asked that earlier. You said Cardinals four game winning stree.

Speaker 4 (02:30:11):
So has to do with a couple of different things.
I think they have a lot more momentum. I feel
like they have a lot more to play for the
Jets right now. Yeah, it's getting pretty tenuous in terms
of whether or not this season is going to mount
to anything or not a.

Speaker 3 (02:30:25):
Wild card berth. But the Arizona Cardinals are in prime
position to potentially still win this division in the NFC West,
very much in play as the San Francisco forty nine
ers get better. They have to win this game.

Speaker 2 (02:30:37):
Did I mention Cooper Rush fumbling immediately as the Cowboys
got the ball back.

Speaker 3 (02:30:42):
No, you haven't yet. Yeah, but he did.

Speaker 2 (02:30:44):
He did, And the Eagles now have the ball at
the Dallas seventeen yard lines.

Speaker 3 (02:30:49):
Well, let's see if they could get a pass attempt off.

Speaker 2 (02:30:51):
By the way, interesting week because Mike McCarthy all week
was talking about Cooper Rush, Cooper Rush, Cooper Rush, and
then Jerry Jones kept talking about Trey Lance, Trey Lance,
Tray Lance.

Speaker 3 (02:31:01):
There is discord. I mean, I mean all.

Speaker 2 (02:31:04):
Week, I mean McCarthy was saying, yeah, you know Dak's out,
you know Cooper Rush, he's been there obviously.

Speaker 3 (02:31:08):
Blah blah blah blah blah.

Speaker 2 (02:31:09):
And then they go to Jerry Jones, and all he
wanted to talk about was Trey Lance.

Speaker 4 (02:31:12):
I just when it comes to Jerry Jones, he is
literally waiting for the last whistle of the regular season
to fire Mike McCarthy. And I'm not sure why he's waiting,
because that is what this is.

Speaker 3 (02:31:26):
He doesn't want Mike McCarthy to have this job after
the season, Otherwise he would have extended him before the season.
So this is a fadea complete, This is just a
wait until that the final whistle. And I don't get it. Look,
Jerry Jones, maybe it's just a thing. Maybe he thinks
you need to have one consistent voice at the front
of the room and it has to be that way.

Speaker 4 (02:31:48):
Maybe I don't get it. It's a strange season that
they're hosting this year in Dallas.

Speaker 3 (02:31:53):
Keep in mind, they made a trade to get Trey Lance.
They did so, they traded a fourth round.

Speaker 2 (02:31:59):
Assuming that this season goes sideways, which is already sideways,
you gotta give Trey Lance a look.

Speaker 3 (02:32:05):
I would assume, right I would assume. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:32:07):
I mean, even though he tied up Dak Prescott forever.
I mean, you gotta least give Lance a look.

Speaker 4 (02:32:12):
That could have been a part of the conversation inside
the building today, like it may have been even an
argument between Jerry Jones and Mike McCarthy who gives us
the best chance to win. I don't care, Mike. I
want to see Trey Lance. No, I'm gonna play Cooper
Rush as long as I'm the head coach.

Speaker 3 (02:32:25):
Yo. Look at this run by Barkley. Are you kidding me?

Speaker 2 (02:32:29):
There's a flag on the play. Though he dragged like
four was a south pass to Saquon Barkley looked like
it go you know, about three four yards and he
just kept spinning and twisting.

Speaker 3 (02:32:40):
Gets the ball down to.

Speaker 2 (02:32:41):
The one yard line, and we've got it's a defense
of penalty that has declined, so the Eagles have a
first and goal at the Dallas one yard line. We
roll on much more coming up here on Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 11 (02:32:55):
They come up Push was Repels last week's twice hurts
under center, hurts, sneaks, punches, and he's in for the touchdown.

Speaker 3 (02:33:06):
It booked at ninety four.

Speaker 2 (02:33:09):
W Ip Eagles Radio Network Eagles with the seven to
nothing lead on the road against the hapless Dallas Cowboys.
Once again Red Zone Radio Steve Hartman and Rich Ormberger
with you. We are live from the tire Rack dot
Com studios are brilliant supporting crew A plus as always.
Moncey Bolanos A little bit of a shock today if

(02:33:29):
I'm crazy day.

Speaker 3 (02:33:30):
In the NFL.

Speaker 7 (02:33:31):
It was wild the last like thirty minutes. It was
hard to keep up.

Speaker 8 (02:33:35):
It's like, what do I watch? What do I turn on?

Speaker 3 (02:33:37):
We're all exhausted.

Speaker 8 (02:33:38):
We're all exhausted. So really we work really hard on Sundays.

Speaker 2 (02:33:43):
Yes, and then Chris and Bobo and Chris they're inseparable
because there's their dresses.

Speaker 3 (02:33:51):
They're twins. You know, guys, it does are you going
to dress alike now every Sunday? A new trend? He
spends to my on jerseys it can of ford.

Speaker 5 (02:34:01):
Well, okay, relax, hold on.

Speaker 7 (02:34:03):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (02:34:03):
It brings me pain to do this, but I do
have to issue a correction because I don't want our
listeners to be misled. There is a difference between off
sides and neutral zone infractions.

Speaker 3 (02:34:12):
Okay, what is got it? Yea, my whole life.

Speaker 5 (02:34:15):
Off side even happened. Off sides happened when the ball
is in play. A neutral zone infraction is before the snap.

Speaker 3 (02:34:22):
See there you go.

Speaker 8 (02:34:23):
That's why offside.

Speaker 3 (02:34:24):
So the ball it snapped, So so this is there
is a difference.

Speaker 4 (02:34:31):
So off sides you that's when you have the opportunity
to throw the football downfield.

Speaker 3 (02:34:35):
It's like the ball and was off side.

Speaker 4 (02:34:39):
If you convert, you know, if you have a d
pass or something that converts, all of a sudden, you
have the decision to decline or take the penalty. You
decline it. Where's the neutral zone? I never knew there
was a difference, And so that goes to show you.

Speaker 5 (02:34:50):
Yeah, we're not we're not submitting this episode for the
Marconi will do it next week.

Speaker 3 (02:34:55):
Next week. You would embarrass me in front of all
my friends.

Speaker 5 (02:34:57):
Bo.

Speaker 2 (02:34:58):
Yeah, I the six year NFL veteran rich Ormberger.

Speaker 3 (02:35:03):
You hear it all the time. It's oddly specific. Six
year NFL veteran rich Ormberger.

Speaker 6 (02:35:09):
Yeah yeah, No matter how many years we get away
from that, it's just six yeah, and it will never change.
I'm not going back, all right, I'm sorry my brain cells. Finally,
the gear turns or a second, there's Marconi.

Speaker 5 (02:35:22):
You weren't lining up, you know, as a defensive tackle,
so you didn't really have to know that's the true
you know what?

Speaker 2 (02:35:27):
I Yeah, but he was also played center much of
his career, so he would know about snapping the ball
or not snapping them all.

Speaker 4 (02:35:33):
Everybody knows you don't have to be all that intelligent
to play center in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (02:35:37):
Everybody, wow, we wait a second.

Speaker 6 (02:35:41):
What takes he is fifty miles from the studio enclosing.

Speaker 3 (02:35:46):
All you gotta do is point to a guy You
snapped the football when you're told to easy job, Hold
hold on a second.

Speaker 2 (02:35:53):
If you were if you were to grade out center
versus guard versus tackle, which one takes the least.

Speaker 3 (02:36:01):
Keeping in mind that you play guard. Yeah, you know.

Speaker 4 (02:36:03):
Listen, you you you can allow steeped depreciation of IQ
level as you get further from the football.

Speaker 3 (02:36:11):
Trust you could have a trust me.

Speaker 4 (02:36:15):
There are some guys on the outside who are being
told you to block every place.

Speaker 3 (02:36:19):
This haints the centers of brain genius.

Speaker 2 (02:36:21):
Then I don't want to Did you actually take more
snaps as a center or as a guard.

Speaker 3 (02:36:26):
That's a great question. I think more in months that
put that intelligence near the ball to.

Speaker 4 (02:36:31):
Yet, but I also got hit my head for a living,
So I mean not everything is quite clear.

Speaker 3 (02:36:36):
I will say I think more at center.

Speaker 4 (02:36:38):
Yeah, I believe so Zoe Marsa actually, But then again,
if we're including college guard, no, no.

Speaker 2 (02:36:43):
If we're talking about when you were a third team
AP All American two thousand and eight Penn State University.

Speaker 3 (02:36:49):
Do you remember all this? I don't even remember very carefully.

Speaker 2 (02:36:53):
So I was doing all my research because I do
all this kind of crazy research.

Speaker 3 (02:36:56):
And I told you, I asked you about a single
game that you played.

Speaker 2 (02:37:00):
You red shirted your first year and you read shirt
freshman year, and I said, you got credit for playing
in this game. And he says, I did not play
in that game. And I said, I've seen multiple play
by plays that say you actually played in this game.
And I'm like, was I in on like a kick?

Speaker 9 (02:37:17):
No?

Speaker 3 (02:37:17):
So what what?

Speaker 2 (02:37:18):
We determined you and I because we really because you know,
I want to be a a sticular. I wanted correct.

Speaker 3 (02:37:25):
I texted people from that team yes, and because Steve
was demanding that a bandage and so somebody said, we
went in on a QB neal because we're we're freshmen.

Speaker 4 (02:37:37):
So like when end of game situations they take the
offensive line off of the starters, they give like the
backups a couple of snaps. And so is my second
year on campus. You know, wet behind the years, you know,
little thing.

Speaker 3 (02:37:48):
Only played like three games that whole year.

Speaker 4 (02:37:50):
Oh dude, yeah, I can't. I can remember two of
them Wisconsin in Central Michigan. But there was that third
game that I was Ohio State.

Speaker 3 (02:37:57):
We won the game.

Speaker 4 (02:37:57):
We had we kneeled on the football at the end
of the game and one of my offensive lineman said,
we went in there to take the QB meals.

Speaker 3 (02:38:03):
Wow, that's it.

Speaker 2 (02:38:04):
And you had no recall you were already partying on
the sidelines, all right. Just updated on some scores right now.
Titans lead the Chargers seven to six, Eagles over the
Cowboys to get a field goal, so seven to three Eagles,
and the Cardinals lead the Jets seven to three.

Speaker 3 (02:38:18):
Rich tonight seven.

Speaker 2 (02:38:20):
To one, Lions on the road against the Texans, who
have yet to lose a home game this year. They
look bad the last couple of weeks. Can the Texans rebound,
get their you know what together and actually beat right now?
The best team in the NFL being the Detroit Lions.

Speaker 3 (02:38:36):
They could, they could. I love this matchup.

Speaker 4 (02:38:39):
I love it so much because you have two fiery,
really great young coaches in Campbell and Ryan's. I think
that this is going to be a hard fought battle.
I gotta give the edge to Detroit. They've just been
so unbelievably efficient. Look at Jared Goff through these last
bunch of games. See, I mean, see how many completion

(02:39:00):
incompletions to touchdown passes.

Speaker 3 (02:39:02):
It's been real quick.

Speaker 6 (02:39:04):
You said they look bad in the last two games,
that including the fifty burger they laid on Tennessee.

Speaker 2 (02:39:08):
But that doesn't count. What did you talk about the Texans?
We're talking? He was talking about the text the okay, yeah,
ignor me. We're going to try to ignore you because
the Lions. It just his brain gets scrambled. I I'm
