Chicago by the way, she was out last weekend.
Speaker 3 (00:19):
Was the wedding you went to the game?
Speaker 4 (00:22):
I had a wedding.
Speaker 5 (00:22):
I just we just I just hang hung out with
a bunch of people because obviously I split my time
going back and forth to Chicago.
Speaker 4 (00:29):
But I was there for work. I was there for
the Bears Packers game.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
That wasn't We're going to get to that a little bit.
Speaker 5 (00:34):
That was the most entertaining game so good that I've covered. Like,
it's not the most entertaining game I can remember as
someone who grew up as part of that rivalry, but
that was the most entertaining rivalry game I've covered between
the Bears and the Packers because it just hasn't. It's
been so lopsided as of the last few years, which.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
Is hopeful with the way the Bear season has gone.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
On in the building, Yeah, it got real weird.

Now, we've got a great show for you guys. Today.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
We have Aroschmarcasey joining us in about thirty minutes live
from Vegas. He's out there for F one, but also
to break down the Chargers and the Lakers. We've got
Broncos team reporter at list Hernandez. An hour two, we
have executive producer Patrick with us today, Technical producer Chris
Phffett and Monty Bilanios at the news desk. We're gonna
keep you update on all the college football action as
(01:56):
it goes down. But we're gonna start with what was
the most anticipated college football game today, and that was
number five Indiana at number two Ohio State. And you
know what, after watching that game, Karmie, I think you
can say Indiana was properly ranked at number five. They
faced a powerhouse team, the current favorite to win it all,
(02:17):
and Ohio State was Indiana's biggest test of the season,
and they were You cannot deny that Indiana was dominant
against their opponents up until today. But you have to
remember they had a schedule that was ranked one hundred
and sixth in strength, and they they looked good. They
(02:37):
got out to the early lead. I think after halftime
was when the tides really turned.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
Right before they had the muff punt, that's kind of
when things started to go out the rails. I am.
Speaker 5 (02:49):
I mean, I have a ton of Indiana friend or
friends that went to Indiana growing up in the Midwest.
It's a huge school. I wanted this for the program.
I wanted this for that.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
I wanted this accomplishment though, just to even be here
and get here because they haven't had that.
Speaker 4 (03:05):
I had the cover, So I'm like, I'm really sad.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
I just kind of saying, you're not having the energy
I was expecting you to come.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
No, But this is this.
Speaker 5 (03:13):
Goes back to This goes back to why I was
hesitant to get on the Indiana bandwide hard.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
You jumped on and you yeah, and I wrote, I
was like, all right, let's do it.
Speaker 5 (03:23):
And I really did think that they had the opportunity,
Like I think if that game would have been at Indiana,
I think that that could have been different. But it's honestly,
what I really needed to see from Indiana was was
more of a fight and honestly to cover to keep
their playoff chances alive because it's it was so fragile.
That ranking was so fragile, and there were there's a
ton of discourse this week just coming out about because
(03:45):
the seating. This is the first week that the seating
kind of came out and how that varies from the rankings.
And then you start playing this game of like, well
we beat you, will you beat this person? Well we
meet this person, and this like Penn State being ranked
as high as they are, I think is rubbing a
lot of people the wrong way, justifiably so, because like
who have they beat?
Speaker 4 (04:04):
But like they have history.
Speaker 5 (04:06):
There's it's so funny to me because we're just kind
of reverting back to the FBS rankings back in the day,
where it wasn't just your record, It wasn't just strength
of schedule, it wasn't any of that. It was like
you had to take like all of this was taken
into account by the committee of do you have any
sort of legacy or stuff like that in the in
(04:26):
the postseason, how is your program fared?
Speaker 4 (04:31):
What conference are you in?
Speaker 5 (04:33):
I really I think we're all now Oregon fans. I
mean I went to grad school in the Big Ten,
so and I grew up in Big Ten country. It's
weird that Oregon is now a part of it. But
like I can never root for Ohio State. I can
never root for Michigan, which is a non factor right now. Yeah,
but like I want oh I want Oregon to now
carry the torch for the Big Ten because there's been
(04:54):
so much made about how the Big Ten can't contend
with the SEC and this that the other this year,
I know Oregon, so now I'm like I wanted. I
wanted to feel good story of Indiana.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
But now my weight behind or junk jumping on the
organ bandwagon, which you know, that's okay, that's fun.
Speaker 5 (05:12):
Ghost of the Pack Twelveday, I know it's although my
sun devil is this is my this was my game
of the week. ASU is playing BYU. I'm they're up
camp scatabow or scored, So i'm, i'm, i'm, I'm. I
didn't expect the aa SU to be the darlings of
this year.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
It's cute and I love it. It's cute. I like
that for you.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
All Right, let's get to the NFL, because what a mess,
you guys. It has been a hot mess in New
York for both the Jets and the Giants.
Speaker 4 (05:43):
Because it's technically New Jersey, but.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
They're still there's still New York. So let's start with
the Giants. Sense of the most recent hot mess. They
officially released Daniel Jones, and let's let's run through the timeline, right,
because first they benched him on Monday. Then Jones gave
a statement on Thursday. It looked like he was about
to cry, but was taking responsibility for his play, the
(06:05):
team's play and thanked the Giants for the opportunity. Then Friday,
the Giants released him, and a statement from Giants president saying,
Daniel came to me this morning and asked.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
If we would release him. We mutually agreed that was
best for him and a team. La la la la.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
We wish him nothing but the best for the future,
which then made the Thursday statement make a lot more
sense because it felt like he was saying goodbye to
fans and the organization, and he was because then he
went in to get asked to get released the next day.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
But the craziest part of all this to me, you guys,
is that the.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
Giants paid Daniel Jones and not Saquon Barkley, when Barkley
was by far the better player on this team. He
wanted to stay in New York, but instead gave the
bag to Daniel Jones and now he's gone. And Saeque
actually commented on the whole situation this week, saying, sucks
how it all went down. It didn't work out for
(07:00):
me over there. I'm doing well over here, Yes he is.
Hopefully he can find the same kind of fresh start
and success. Yeah, it's just we got a little sneak
peek into the dysfunction of that franchise during hard Knocks
and how the whole Saquon situation went down.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
But the Giants, man, you've got a lot to figure out.
Speaker 5 (07:19):
I mean, I feel for Daniel Jones because this isn't
all on him. No, either, you get rid of his
best offensive weapon. What is he supposed to do? The
crazy part is though, that, yeah, they signed him to
an extension last year because ego.
Speaker 4 (07:31):
Is a hell of a thing.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (07:32):
It's hey, we I like sticking behind Daniel Jones because
you were the one to take him. I just and
I don't know how many more chances that these like
this front office is going to get probably like are
you like there's a huge decision now looming for the
Giants in this off season where it's like, all right,
(07:53):
who's going to stay from either this coaching staff. I
still think Brian Dabele's a good coach, but this front office.
Are you going to let that evaluate and draft another quarterback?
Speaker 3 (08:02):
But you let Sequon Barkley go and he isn't? Oh man?
Speaker 5 (08:07):
That like that was like there were I saw both
sides of it at the time. Obviously we have the
benefit of hindsight at this point and the benefit of
being able to look back and say, oh, yeah, obviously
that didn't work out, but it was Hey, if you
guys were trying to get younger, if you were trying
to save money on the cap, if you were trying
to build this team kind of by like reloading and
not totally tearing it down, then that made sense to offload.
Speaker 4 (08:31):
What like if you don't want to pay a running back.
Speaker 5 (08:32):
And especially given the fact that Saquon Barkley isn't young
by running back standards.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
Uh and driving, he's still like top two.
Speaker 5 (08:40):
Yeah, but I do think a lot of that had
to do with the fact that he got a fresh
start somewhere else.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
Yeah, so he needed this. It was actually the best
case scenario for for him.
Speaker 5 (08:48):
Yeah, And I mean it sucks for the Giants, and
that's obviously not how you run your football team. Is
like giving the player himself a fresh start because that's
what he needs, like you as a football team need
him to But uh, this move for Dana Jones, now
it will count. He'll count twenty two million against the
cap in twenty twenty five, but they save nineteen million
dollars now by releasing him next year. So now you
(09:10):
think all right again, Like I was talking about though,
the question you now have if.
Speaker 4 (09:15):
You're Mara, You're done?
Speaker 5 (09:17):
Yeah, that is are you going to continue to let
this front office dictate who's on this roster and who
this team is investing in going forward?
Speaker 4 (09:27):
Because now you need a quarterback?
Speaker 3 (09:29):
Yes you do.
Speaker 5 (09:30):
And this next year's class it's not as great as
this past year's class was. Can you still find someone? Absolutely?
Are you going to have? Are you going to have
one of the top picks? Probably at this point? So
are you going to leave something like that, a decision
like that that can again shape your franchise?
Speaker 3 (09:49):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (09:49):
Are you going to leave that up to this front
office to do? And that's the question mark.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
They got a lot of work to do. But also
like what's next for Daniel Jones. He's going to be
a great backup somewhere, and we've seen starters become backups
and get that second chance. Jamis Winston kind of the
biggest example right now, absolutely crushed on Thursday Night. Also,
like his personality, he was born to be on TV.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
He was absolutely hilarious.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, all starters who became backups and
then got a second chance and are now thriving as starters.
Speaker 5 (10:21):
I mean there are places that Daniel Jones could go
right now and be a starter. Yeah, that's the most
Where do you think he has to clear waivers first? Yes,
because no team's gonna want to take on the thirteen
and a half million dollars. I think that's still o
tim with thirteen point eight million dollars, that's still ot
to him and guarantees. So four one pm Monday is
when he is eligible to sign with a new team.
And I don't know where he will end up, but.
Speaker 4 (10:47):
I can tell you the funniest scenario.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
Let's go the Cowboy Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
Yeah, I mean there was a whole like the Internet
kind of went wild with that.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
I like, I don't, I don't. The thing is, you
can't put something like this past Jerry Jones' sign because.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
He always wants the Giants on Thanksgiving.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
Yeah, yeah, it's like coming up to be wild.
Speaker 5 (11:07):
So like you get him in there and then you
start him against his old team, Like.
Speaker 3 (11:11):
That's very headlons, very Jerry. I'm the kidding.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
Other solid places I think that could work that like
need a good backup and like, have a good coach
that I think would be good for him.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
Miam.
Speaker 4 (11:21):
Yeah, one of the Dallas isn't a good place.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
Forty nine ers would be really great.
Speaker 4 (11:27):
Like the Raiders need a quarterback. They're they're back and forth.
Speaker 5 (11:30):
I mean, like I said, there are places that he
could go and be a starter, which includes Las Vegas
and includes Dallas right now, because Cooper Rush is not
the Cooper Rush that because he doesn't have woopool Rush
had last time.
Speaker 3 (11:40):
They don't have. They clearly the same protection.
Speaker 5 (11:43):
The Dallas Cowboys clearly have no interest in Trey Lance,
despite the fact they doubled down on that this week.
Jerry Jones said I'd do it again, or maybe it
was Stephen Jones, but either way, they're like, I do
it again, and I'm like, really, I.
Speaker 3 (11:54):
Can't show us. I shouldn't speak louder than words.
Speaker 5 (11:57):
I I think it would be very, very funny. That
is the most entertaining scenario, and right now I'm rooting
for maximum guys.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
Okay, I'm into that. Well, let's move on to the
next mess in New York, which are the Jets. They
fired their GM Joe Douglas six weeks after firing.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
Their head coach.
Speaker 4 (12:14):
That's nothing.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
They're doing nothing.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
But we've been getting a few different reports this week
that kind of make everything not makes sense, but like
kind of like, okay, that's why this happened. Jets owner
suggested benching Rogers in September after the week for Los
Sala said no, then lost in London. The next week
he was fired, and it makes you kind of realize, Okay,
(12:37):
maybe it wasn't Aaron Rodgers that got it done. It's
just Woody does not.
Speaker 5 (12:42):
I still think that Aaron Rodgers had something to do
with that because they were not on the same page,
him and Sola whatsoever.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
And you can but now.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
Woody and Rodgers aren't on the same page because there's
reports that he doesn't want Rogers back and Rogers doesn't
want to come back, which I mean, after the way
everything's gone down these last two he said, why would
you try.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
To run it back for a third year? No, I
mean you shouldn't.
Speaker 5 (13:04):
You shouldn't, But I also don't know like where you're
gonna go that's going to be any different if you're
Aaron rod Yes.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
That's the other thing is like who who do you like?
Speaker 4 (13:12):
The Jets had.
Speaker 5 (13:14):
The Jets had a lot as far as the talent
they had on the roster and the situation that he
was going to I wouldn't I won't say they were
just a quarterback away, because I don't believe that. But
they had a really solid defense under Robert Sala. They
had one of the best young receivers in the league
in Garrett Wilson. And then you realize, though, all of
(13:34):
the baggage that Rogers comes with, and you're like, hu,
all right, now there's this push pull of egos, there's
a power struggle, there's are Rogers friends the right thing
for this organization, and like it just goes spectacularly to pieces.
Speaker 4 (13:50):
And I have to say, I told you so.
Speaker 5 (13:51):
I lived with someone who thought that the Jets were
up until two weeks ago.
Speaker 4 (13:55):
Wouldn't quit on the Jets.
Speaker 2 (13:56):
And I'm like, hun, no, no, no, no, no, I
said from the beginning, this isn't going to work.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
Prove a concept. We have none. There's no way this
is going to work.
Speaker 5 (14:02):
I mean, we have a situation where this worked. It's
not the exact same situation. Yeah, yeah, but yeah, exactly,
like this is where you kind of Rogers got exposed
for the lack of culture that he brings, the lack
of team building he brings. He's not a really great teammate.
We have a lot of evidence of that, except if
you're one of his guys, and then he'll drag you
(14:23):
all over the country.
Speaker 2 (14:24):
So the next question is should Rex Ryan come? Why
is that a question the Jets? Why is that a question?
Speaker 3 (14:30):
Well done?
Speaker 2 (14:31):
We're going to listen to what he had to say
when he was asked about it this week.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
I'd like to there's no doubt about it.
Speaker 6 (14:37):
I've let everybody know that I definitely would be interested
in that job, even though I got a great gig.
You know, I do Sunday NFL Countdown, do get up,
as you mentioned the things, and it's hard to beat
that job. But you know, I think I have some
unfinished business, especially with that franchise. That particular franchise is
you know, my dad was there forever he won a
Super Bowl and it's super close to me, and you know,
(15:00):
I just think that, you know, I would get back
in it if I thought I could make a difference,
and I think I could make a big difference with
that team.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
I mean, he hasn't coached since twenty sixteen, but he
did make the AFC Championship Game in his first two seasons.
He has the most playoff wins in just franchise history.
Speaker 4 (15:18):
Not saying much.
Speaker 5 (15:19):
Yeah, so what happened after those first two seasons? He
didn't have another winning record.
Speaker 3 (15:23):
In New York.
Speaker 2 (15:24):
But like again, if he he didn't have a winning
record with both deals with like a this is crazy.
Speaker 5 (15:30):
Owner, this is such a this is this is of
course he's gonna say he wants to come back, but
there is there's no reason to give any of this credence.
Like there's just like you said, he hasn't coached since
twenty sixteen. He hasn't had a winning record since twenty ten.
That's yeah, like by the time twenty twenty five, that's.
Speaker 3 (15:48):
Fayeah, that was the Mark Sanchez era too.
Speaker 5 (15:51):
It's not even the same league anymore at this point.
So this is like I don't like, sure whatever, Rex, Ryan,
but like, keep your cushi TV job work once what
Like these guys are just sick ohs man like and
most of it, most of the time, I love it,
but I'm just like, dude, keep your coachy TV job.
Speaker 4 (16:08):
You have no business coming back in if.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
He wants to go back into the dysfunction, like well,
also who that job?
Speaker 5 (16:15):
No one else is going to want more dysfunction on
the horizon too. Given the fact that Woody Johnson, what
did he do during Trump's last candidacy, He was the
ambassador to the UK. So there is a very real
chance that Woody Johnson is going to leave this franchise
again to do that, because he can't actually be part
of the decision making for an NFL franchise while he
(16:35):
is serving the federal government. So there's so much that
the fact that like he came back in and then
made all of these essentially changes, like this, this organization
reeks of just inconsistencies.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
And it's because like it starts at the top.
Speaker 3 (16:51):
Yeah, it's brutal.
Speaker 4 (16:52):
I'm so sorry for Jets fans.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
I really am, Guys, you know, I'm sorry for Davante Adams.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
I'm not like trade it into another functional situation where
he wanted to play with a quarterback he played before.
Speaker 5 (17:03):
He's probably had he had agency not going to be there,
he had agency in this trade. I do not feel
bad for DeVante Adams all right, Like here, what he
was doing, you heard it. I don't all right, if
you're gonna make your bed with Aaron Rodgers, you did.
Speaker 3 (17:17):
We probably told me he's gonna stay there.
Speaker 4 (17:19):
I mean, that's it' that's on you, man.
Speaker 3 (17:21):
It's all the dumpsterfire.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
We're gonna take a quick break here, but when we
come back, could Dion Sanders save the Cowboys?
Speaker 3 (17:27):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (17:29):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsportsradio dot

Speaker 2 (17:43):
Welcome back to Fox Football Saturday. I'm Alex Curry here
with Carmen Vitally. We are broadcasting live from the Tark
dot Com studios in Los Angeles.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
Thank you for spending your Saturday afternoon with us.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
So we got another fun question about another hot team,
hot mess of a team, because that was kind of
our our topic at the top of the show. New
York is a hot mess both the teams, but the
Cowboys are definitely in that conversation as well. So the
question is could Dion Sanders save the Cowboys? And this
was a funny topic this week that I think only
(18:15):
happened if the Cowboys end up drafting Shadoor Sanders. And
this all started with IRV on the Herd this week saying,
I believe one hundred percent Dion would accept the Cowboys
job if they draft his son Shador. And I can
tell you I got good sources that told me.
Speaker 4 (18:32):
That, really good sources.
Speaker 2 (18:35):
So yeah, obviously the Cowboys they're gonna have a lot
of changes next year. Doesn't feel like McCarthy's going to
be back a head coach. They did just re sign Dak,
so that's something that they would need to figure out.
Speaker 3 (18:52):
They're also currently in the ninth.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
Draft spot, so a lot would have to happen to
make this happen. And it's all just kind of wishful
thinking at the moment. You might have to trade to
move up. Michael Parsons is a big one that you
might not be able to keep. What are you gonna
do with Dak who has a no trade clause. Maybe
he adjusts it once he finds out you want to
(19:14):
get Shador and you're trying to bring in Dion.
Speaker 4 (19:18):
I mean, the Cowboys already made their bed. They but
they did.
Speaker 5 (19:23):
They paid Dak Prescott sixty million dollars for four years.
You're not you're not moving off of that at this point. Also,
like that is the homegrown guy. You found him in
the fourth round. Yeah, and I realized that Dak was
drafted when you thought that Tony Romo was still going
to be your starter for three to five years and
then he just so happened to get hurt and then
Dak while he pipped him. But that's not the case here.
(19:46):
You weren't paying Tony Romo's sixty million dollars a year,
and you're not gonna waste basically all of a rookie
contract by drafting a quarterback now, and for all intents
and purposes, we're seeing Shador Sanders like draft stock go
through the roof. You're not gonna be able to hang
around and get him in like the second round.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
Like this is gonna have to be a first round,
And that would.
Speaker 5 (20:09):
Be so incredibly reckless, even for even by Cowboys standards,
to take a quarterback in the first round when you
have so many other needs at this point, and you're right,
you're gonna have You're gonna have to get Micah Parsons
paid this offseason, and for as kind of down as
the season as he's had given his injuries, he still
(20:30):
leads the team in pressures despite playing just six games
this year. So he's not exactly gonna come at a discount.
I think a lot of people are hoping for that.
But let's not forget his agent is David Mullagetta. Micah
Parsons is going after being the highest paid edge rusher
or highest paid non quarterback in the league right now,
despite even despite the injuries this year. And so if
(20:52):
you can't do that and you've got all that money
tied up and Dak, you need to get younger, if
you're the Dallas Cowboys, and you need to be getting
production and out of your drest Marry.
Speaker 3 (21:01):
Jones, he wants to splash. He wants the possession.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
And honestly, Dion Sanders might be the only coach it
would be able to like change the culture and turn
this team around in that sense.
Speaker 3 (21:10):
We just saw it with Boulder.
Speaker 4 (21:12):
Okay, a college team, and the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
But he also has history different and Jerry has a
different relationship.
Speaker 5 (21:23):
You don't forget though, Don't forget that Dion is used
to being judge Jerry an executioner with his program that
is not how it works.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
In Dallas, but maybe he lets it happen.
Speaker 4 (21:32):
Jerry him and Stephen Jones, Him and Stephen Jones.
Speaker 5 (21:36):
That's the whole thing about people talking about Belichick going
to the Cowboys. That would be something that is so
far fetched given the fact that that Bill Belichick in
New England was the GM and the head coach, and
that is something that reportedly he wants in another team
that he would coach. Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones aren't
giving up the GM part, especially to a guy that's
(21:58):
coming from college where the things work completely differently. There
would be a huge learning curve with Dion Sanders if
you gave him all of that responsibility. There probably would
be anyway if he decides to make the jump to
the NFL. But like I get that they want splashy whatever.
There are plenty of coaches out there. Gone get Ben Johnson,
Get Ben Johnson from the from the Detroit Lions, Go
(22:20):
pay him eight figures a year and watch that be
a huge splash because smart thing to do.
Speaker 3 (22:25):
But have we seen the Cowboys do the smart thing?
Speaker 4 (22:27):
I mean, so they're coaching hires.
Speaker 5 (22:29):
I loved the hire of Mike McCarthy Mike McCarthy had
one in Green Bay. Don't forget something that Dallas Cowboys
haven't done in over thirty years.
Speaker 4 (22:37):
So this is something that I just I can't.
Speaker 5 (22:40):
Really think too hard about it because, like you said,
it's wishful thinking.
Speaker 3 (22:43):
Wish but I would not put it past Jerry Joe.
Speaker 4 (22:45):
But it's wishful thinking to go soon.
Speaker 3 (22:47):
I take a big swing.
Speaker 4 (22:51):
I can't.
Speaker 3 (22:51):
That's not that's not responsation, Like are the Cowboys? Have
they been responsible?
Speaker 5 (22:57):
And when it comes to stuff like the draft and
the way that they build their roster aside from the
fact that they make their star players prove themselves over
and over again, which they don't agree.
Speaker 4 (23:07):
With, but they draft really well, really well.
Speaker 5 (23:11):
And you have a guy and Will McLay in that
front office that does so much behind the scenes, and
you don't want to mess that up. You have such
a good track record. And again you have to get younger.
You cannot take a chance with this year's draft class
coming in because of the contracts that are coming down
the pipe, the contracts you're already committed to between DAK
and CD. You have to get younger, and you have
(23:33):
to get production right away.
Speaker 2 (23:34):
I'm just saying I would not put it past Terry Jones.
But now let's check in with Monty Bilanios and see
what's trending.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
Y'all.
Speaker 7 (23:42):
There's a mess in New York, and there's a mess
in college football. So I don't know if you guys
were able to watch because it was on Peacock, but
number twenty five Illinois survive against Rutgers.
Speaker 3 (23:51):
The final score was thirty eight to thirty one. But
here's the thing. There were ill David.
Speaker 7 (23:55):
Illinois was down by one with fourteen seconds left fourth
and thirteen around the Rutgers forty yard line. They decided
to go for the fifty three yard field goal. Then
Rutgers called the timeout before the ball was snapped.
Speaker 3 (24:08):
The kicker missed the field goal, but the timeout was
before the ball was snapped. So then they decided to
go for a touchdown and.
Speaker 7 (24:14):
They scored, and they got it, and they got it.
Speaker 3 (24:18):
Uh hot mess, and I love it. I'm all for that.
Speaker 7 (24:22):
So number twenty five Illinois survives.
Speaker 3 (24:24):
Number thirteen SMU. They beat Virginia thirty three seventeen. Guess what.
Speaker 7 (24:27):
SMU has clinched a spot in the ACC Championship game
with that win, Number ten Jorida CRUs Georgia cruise pass
Massachusetts fifty nine to twenty one. Florida with a twenty
four to seventeen upset over number nine Ole miss Number
eight Miami crushed Wake Forest forty two to fourteen, and
number two Ohio State came back to beat the undefeated Hoosiers.
Speaker 3 (24:48):
Thirty eight to fifteen.
Speaker 7 (24:50):
Right now, it's number eleven Tennessee all over UTEB fifty
six zero.
Speaker 3 (24:54):
That is not a typo. Two minutes to go in
the game.
Speaker 7 (24:56):
Number three Texas up on Kentucky seven zero after the
first qu order. Number four Penn State losing to Minnesota
ten seven early in the second quarter. Number twenty one
Arizona State up on number fourteen BYU fourteen zero with
less than five.
Speaker 3 (25:10):
Minutes to go in the first half.
Speaker 7 (25:12):
Kansas is up on number sixteen Colorado seventeen zero in
the first quarter. Colorado just held possession of the ball
for one minute and nineteen seconds.
Speaker 4 (25:20):
That's it, Noice. You just scored and kicked an Onzie
kick and got it. I mean, by the way, thank you.
Speaker 7 (25:25):
I didn't know it was that, but that's how they
got to fourteen.
Speaker 4 (25:28):
Well, no, they just did it.
Speaker 3 (25:29):
They just did it right now, it's twenty one.
Speaker 7 (25:31):
It's twenty one, twenty one, so that just happened. Number
seventeen Clemson the Citadel. They are up twenty one zero
halfway through the second quarter. Number eighteen South Carolina beating
Woolford seven to three, one minute to go in the
first Mississippi State up on number twenty three Missouri three
zero early in the first quarter.
Speaker 3 (25:49):
A little NFL news for you guys.
Speaker 7 (25:50):
Cowboys are going to be with outright tackle Zach Martin
and without cornerback Trevon Diggs for this Sunday against the Commanders.
But Washington is going to have their kickerback Austin Seipert,
while the Panthers have placed running back Miles Sanders on
injured reserve. They faced the Chiefs this weekend, and the
Buccaneers have downgraded left tackle Tristan Wurf's too doubtful for
their game against the Giants. No boe back to you ladies.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
Thank you, Monxi, Jess, jeez, jeez here, let's need a
Fox Football Saturday. I'm Alex Curry here with Carmen Vitali.
We are broadcasting live from the Tara dot Com studios
in a Los Angeles and it it's time for our
first guest, the founder and CEO of The Sporting Tribune,
our friend Auraj Marcazi, joining us live from Vegas for
F one.
Speaker 3 (26:29):
Ahrahi there, I am here, dude. What's the vibe?
Speaker 2 (26:34):
Like, I've been like stalking everyone that's there on social media.
Speaker 8 (26:39):
It's amazing. Yeah. I mean, so they had a qualifying
yesterday practice on Thursday, getting ready for the big race today.
Obviously late night race had bem pacific. I think everyone's
excited for that. But the vibes are amazing. The vibes
are a lot of fun. You know. I was here
last year for the race, but I wasn't covering it,
(26:59):
so I was just watching it from a farm. But
to be actually covering it and like in the panic
and in the garage, it's been tremendous. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (27:07):
I think last year there were there were a few
kind of bumps in the road quite literally, quite literally.
Have you seen because you were there last year, now
you see it this year. Have there been kind of
maybe some improvements made. Do they seem like they are
a little bit more organized this year? I mean last
year it was. It looks really cool but I know
the behind the scenes stuff was questionable.
Speaker 8 (27:27):
Yeah, I mean so like last year they had the
pothole situation that canceled the up practice run that. You know.
The problem is because it's a race, it's a street
race on the strip. The local hated. I mean, I
yeah a ton of time in Vegas, and I don't
think you're like the majority of the locals don't like
the race. I mean, if this race was held somewhere else,
(27:50):
like not on the strip and not affecting their lives,
I think that they would love it. So listen, this
is a year two of what could be a ten
year deal. Uh. They do have like kick it out
clause after year three, So I think these first three
years so they have improved in year two. We'll see
how they do in year three. But following year three,
(28:11):
I mean, really, there's gonna be a conversation about, you know,
what does the future hold for the Gulas Vegas Grand
Pre It's been amazing. I expect a lot of celebrities
who starts. There was a time last night, but there
will be even more tonight. So it's a fun race,
but it's a unique one in the sense that it
is a street race that takes over the strip, and
(28:33):
not just for three days for them to set this up.
I mean it is a you know, three to four
months thing.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
Oh yeah, everything is that's shut down, hard to get anywhere. Yeah,
but let's talk some Chargers football, because you were there
for their big win Sunday night. Jim Harbaugh has turned
things around so quickly with the Chargers. They're sitting at
seven and three. Like, what's been the biggest impact you've
seen personally being around this team, being around Harbaugh that
(28:59):
he has done to really help turn this team around.
Speaker 8 (29:02):
He's really given them the belief. You know, you go
to that game on Sunday dying against Cincinnati with the
Chargers at the twenty one point lead in the third quarter,
and then the game is tied, and then everyone, whether
you're at so far or whether you're at home or
you're around the country, chargering it up. I mean that
has become a term that even the team had used
(29:23):
and it was a real thing. And so for them
to find a way to win that game again, for
them to win that game in that fashion, I thought
that was more significant than if they had won that
game by twenty one because it gave them that confidence.
Those days are over. And really Harbaugh from day one
at camp, just because of this track record of success
(29:45):
with San Francisco, We're coming off of winning a championship.
They believe in him and so this is another big
game on Monday night. So the first hardball bull that
we've had here.
Speaker 9 (29:58):
So this is going to be a.
Speaker 8 (29:59):
Ton of fun.
Speaker 5 (30:00):
Yeah, I'm so excited for that. But I do think
that that's such a great point to bring up. I mean,
the ball changed hands like what three four different times
many minutes of that game, and any other year the
Chargers don't come out on the winning side of that
at all, and I think that that was something that
can now propel them, Like.
Speaker 4 (30:18):
Look, the narrative really is changing.
Speaker 5 (30:20):
And along those lines, though, are we talking enough about
Jesse Minter and the job that he has done with
the Chargers defense.
Speaker 8 (30:26):
No, we haven't, And again a lot of that is
because of Harbaugh. Again, people want to shower him with praise,
but the defense has really been such a big key
for the team. And by the way, Harbaugh's does a
very good job. And if you haven't heard or seen
one of his press conferences, go on YouTube. Kudos to
their PR director Josh Rupric, he lets Harbaugh go. There
(30:47):
is no other coach in all of sports that I've covered,
certainly not in Los Angeles. Usually around like the ten
minute mark or like the eight minute mark, you know,
two more questions, last questions, the Chargers let him go.
So you'll have those Spress conferences on Monday Wednesday. Those
sometimes go twenty to thirty minutes, and it is awesome
(31:09):
to watch him do his thing.
Speaker 2 (31:12):
Okay, so there's been so much hype around Justin Herbert
since he entered the league, but there's also been that
narrative of like is he going to live up to
the hype? And I feel like we're finally seeing a
different Justin Herbert this season.
Speaker 3 (31:24):
What's his relationship been like with Harbaugh?
Speaker 8 (31:28):
It's amazing. I mean, I mean he really showers him
with praise, but he really believes that. I mean, like
even before he took the job, he was always very
very complimentary towards Justin Herbert. But this week, and again
Harbaugh said this is not a hyperbole. He called him
one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, not just
currently in the league. So that relationship is extremely strong.
(31:51):
Harba believes that this is a championship quarterback and really,
like the biggest thing was surrounding him with the strong
game on the ground, so they can run the ball
and they have a great defense. Is usual touchdown. So
the big thing at the beginning of the season, which
two things were in play, was that Herbert.
Speaker 9 (32:10):
Was not healthy.
Speaker 8 (32:11):
We've really seen how he can run the ball again.
No one's gonna call him, you know, the next you know,
the most Tychel Vick. But he can move. So he
is healthy really for the first time in a while.
But he's not worried about statistics. If you remember, at
the beginning of the season, they were finding a way
to win games, but he wasn't throwing a ton. He
(32:31):
doesn't care like following last year, which was a disaster.
He just loves being a part of a team that
is finding a way to win. So he doesn't care
whether he throws the ball ten times, fifteen, twenty or forty.
He just wants to win.
Speaker 5 (32:45):
How much do we trust the Los Angeles Chargers now
going forward throughout the season. I mean, he still thinks
that the Kansadate Chiefs are going to win that division.
But are we talking Wildcard. Do we really trust them
to win a playoff game at this point?
Speaker 4 (32:59):
What do we think?
Speaker 8 (33:00):
It's a great question because you know the Chargers historically,
I mean again, this is the you know, the last
time that they've got to the super Bowl was back
in nineteen ninety four, so it's been a long long time.
But yeah, I mean, listen, the Chargers still have to
deal with this. I mean we've all thought it, and
I thought it well while I was watching the game.
At so far, a twenty one point lead, it doesn't matter.
(33:21):
They're going to find a way to lose the game.
So they still have to figure out a way to
prove those wrong. And again, unless you do it again,
this is nice, but then there'd be seven and three
is significant. I don't think they're going to win the division,
although they still could. But this team really truly is
built for the playoffs, and that is the one thing. Again,
Harbaugh has very much been week to weeks, but he
(33:42):
has talked about it. The way that this team is
built is to win in the playoffs where they are
have a strong run game of a smart quarterback in
a solid defense. So and again, Harvall's been there before,
and so but you bring up a great point, right,
I mean, there are these franchises and to in particular
in Los Angeles where you know, the Clippers and the Chargers,
(34:05):
like as good as they are during the season, like
show me what you can do during the postseason because
we have not seen.
Speaker 3 (34:11):
It yet as before we let you go so far.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
Just from watching it on the TV, looked like it
was bumping and bumping a little more for the Chargers,
which isn't normally the case. Have we seen a shift
in the fandom as well.
Speaker 8 (34:26):
We really have, And again yeah, I mean this is
something that has kind of like been building during the
course of the season. And again they really it's good
for them to be playing week night games, so my
Monday night game will be big. The fact that that
Thursday night game on December nineteenth against the Broncos got plugged.
What that enables the Chargers to do is have the
(34:47):
local fans and they really price the tickets out so
they're affordable, something that a lot of people aren't talking
about that Some of my friends in San Diego don't
want to admit you have some of those fans. They're saying,
like listen two hour drive or a two hour train ride,
like like, let's go watch see what the Chargers can do. So,
I mean I have not seen a Charger's home game
since say move to Los Angeles. Look sound and feel
(35:11):
like that that was a Charger's home crowd. Yeah, I
expect the same on Monday. So this has been really
fun to watch.
Speaker 3 (35:18):
Oh, we love it a rash.
Speaker 2 (35:19):
Thank you so much for joining us and have so
much fun tonight at F one.
Speaker 8 (35:22):
Thanks so much, so thank you soon.
Speaker 2 (35:24):
All right, when we come back, you guys, it's the
dues and the dots in sports. You're listening to Fox
Sports Radio. Welcome back to Fox Football Saturday. I'm Alex
Curry here with Carmen Vitally. We are broadcasting live from
the tire dot Com studios in Los Angeles. So distracting
to try to say anything when there's a good song
in the background. But that's okay, I say it, you saying, Karmen.
Speaker 4 (35:47):
Because nobody wants to hear that, But I am there.
Speaker 3 (35:49):
Things all right, guys. It's sound for the dues and
the don'ts in sports.
Speaker 4 (35:56):
H I love that.
Speaker 1 (35:57):
Putting the spotlight on the dons.
Speaker 2 (35:59):
The subject brings me no joy.
Speaker 4 (36:02):
That's insane.
Speaker 1 (36:03):
It's time for the dues and the dons in sports.
Speaker 3 (36:06):
Okay, I'm gonna fire with a double deal.
Speaker 2 (36:09):
Okay, do troll your opponents if you can back it up.
Speaker 3 (36:14):
And I got two here.
Speaker 2 (36:15):
So last week Mike McDaniels caught on the broadcast rolling
Raiders Max Crosby after man.
Speaker 3 (36:22):
Off sides and it's I mean, it's hilarious.
Speaker 2 (36:25):
The reason McDaniel's was trolling it was because he was
pretending to change the call. He yelled it out but
didn't actually change the call, and then he got him
to jump and Mike is yelling at we didn't know
the play call, Max, we have the play call, Max l.
Speaker 4 (36:41):
Well, Mike daniel is our millennial head coach.
Speaker 2 (36:46):
King I know, I love him so much. And then
the second one is Ke Grivy Junior and Blake Griffin
trolling Charles Barkley during the match. I don't know if
you saw this a golf tournament because of how sweaty
he was while he was playing, and he was playing
with Kenby j and Griffy said it was like sitting
next to an eight month old puppy rottweiler with his
head out the car window panting trying to get air.
(37:09):
And that's just the two of them riding in a
golf cart together.
Speaker 8 (37:11):
Nice.
Speaker 4 (37:12):
I note, I want an eight month puppy, so can
I have one? I gotta do? Okay, do meet your heroes?
Speaker 5 (37:19):
Yes, Jalen Brown, who is my favorite NBA player. We
established that last season when he went on or during
the postseason when he went on his Harry Potter rant.
Adore that man, but I adore him even more now
because he tweeted on November two, how do I meet Bill?
Speaker 4 (37:36):
Not a science guy?
Speaker 5 (37:37):
And then he just posted a pic with a really
sweet caption either today or estraight, and the Celtics just
retweeted it that Hey, you made learning fun growing up.
Thanks for taking a picture with me. I adore that
so much. So like we talk about this all the
time with like athletes and like kids getting to meet
their heroes when it comes to athletes, but like athletes
meeting their heroes that have nothing to do with sports
(38:00):
is just so incredibly wholesome.
Speaker 4 (38:02):
And yeah, thanks Bill ny for making learning fun.
Speaker 3 (38:05):
I love that.
Speaker 2 (38:06):
I had that as one of my duws too, and
he was talking about it in the postgame press or too,
and said to shake his hand for helping me in
my education journey.
Speaker 3 (38:13):
That was just pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (38:14):
And they asked him like why why did you tweet
that him? Like why why were you thinking?
Speaker 8 (38:18):
Why not?
Speaker 2 (38:18):
He's like, I was just thinking about my you know,
like my education journey. And I was like, man, every
time they put on Bill Nye, like I really wanted
to learn.
Speaker 5 (38:27):
I'm convinced that Jayalen Brown and I are kind of
the same person if we have like these are our
major influences. Like I watched Bill Nye growing up religiously.
I read Harry Potter Steel all the time. Jay Brown
and I have the same personality, like a king.
Speaker 3 (38:41):
So like, come on, Like the intro was a sleigh.
Speaker 4 (38:45):
Oh yeah, I was Bill.
Speaker 3 (38:46):
There's science guy Bill, Bill, Bill.
Speaker 2 (38:49):
Yeah, I got a do another, dude, do have fun
at your pressers and at your games.
Speaker 3 (38:56):
The Yukon women's.
Speaker 2 (38:57):
Basketball team were blonde wigs honor Chris Day. They show
up in the locker room, do a'll take a photo
of her together? They showed up to their presser and
rigs trying to keep it together. But just like she
loved it, the team loved it. It was so much
out of respect obviously for the goat, and she said,
(39:17):
they ate like they absolutely like me in a slave.
But it was great, It was awesome.
Speaker 4 (39:21):
All Right, I've got do more. In your losses.
Speaker 5 (39:24):
LSU oh lost their number one overall prospect, the number
one prospect in the twenty twenty five class, quarterback Brice Underwood,
to his home state team. He's from outside Detroit. Michigan
reportedly offered him ten million dollars to flip his commitments,
and I do I.
Speaker 4 (39:40):
Don't blame him.
Speaker 3 (39:43):
You can't blame mom.
Speaker 4 (39:43):
But also, why are you.
Speaker 5 (39:45):
Going to go to Michigan where you're not gonna be
able to like have this high flying offense like we've
seen LSU quarterbacks do.
Speaker 4 (39:50):
So well in the league.
Speaker 5 (39:51):
See last year Jade and Daniels and now this year
Jadan Daniels, Joe Burrow. Why don't you want to join
that legacy?
Speaker 4 (39:57):
Brice? Why my household has been in more all week?
Speaker 3 (40:00):
Ten million dollars is why?
Speaker 5 (40:03):
I mean, that's short says not that is like, that's
short sighted.
Speaker 7 (40:08):
Chan.
Speaker 2 (40:11):
All right, when we come back, what NFL teams you
trust down the stretch? You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Welcome to Hour two of Fox Football Saturday. I'm Alex
Curry here with Carmen Vitally. Thank you for spending your
Saturday afternoon with Carmeie and me Hi. I gotta I
gotta start out hour two here with a quick shout
(40:33):
out to the King of the West Coast, Kendrick Lamar,
who dropped his new album g NX yesterday.
Speaker 3 (40:39):
No promo, just a perfect.
Speaker 2 (40:40):
Little holiday gift for everybody having like a full freak
out midday on a Friday.
Speaker 4 (40:46):
And I was in the shower when I came out,
so I didn't, I didn't, I didn't.
Speaker 3 (40:49):
Wait, this is the where were you moment? My phone
started blowing up, like have you seen it? Have you
seen him? Like no, because we're.
Speaker 2 (40:56):
Mike connected to Ken, I can't say how, but they
the family.
Speaker 5 (41:00):
My fiance came in after he got home from the gym,
just as I was coming out of the shower, and
he's like, wait, I just need you to hear something. Yeah,
and then he starts playing the song.
Speaker 2 (41:11):
Yeah okay, so his first song, whacked out Murals he
went bag, which is a start of paying oh hard.
Even had a line this is what I love too
to Lil Wayne about the Super Bowl situation, saying, I
think my hard work, let low Wayne down won the
super Bowl and nas is the only one who congratulated me.
And in case you don't understand the drama there, Lil
(41:31):
Wayne is from New Orleans, where the super Bowl is
going to be. He's a sports fan and thought, I
think Lil Wayne thought it was like in the bag
and he was.
Speaker 3 (41:40):
Gonna get it.
Speaker 2 (41:40):
So after they announced Kendrick as a halftime performer, Lil
Wayne shared a video of how upset he was that
he didn't get it.
Speaker 3 (41:47):
And we love Lila Wayne like.
Speaker 2 (41:48):
He's a Fox Sports guy, He's been on our air,
he's a friend.
Speaker 4 (41:51):
I have his lyrics tattooed on me.
Speaker 2 (41:53):
I love both low Wayne and Kendrick Lamar like I
have personal connections with both. But Lo Wayne also bonded today, saying, uh,
let's not mistake kindness for weakness.
Speaker 3 (42:06):
Let the giant sleep. I get you all. No one
really wants.
Speaker 2 (42:10):
Destruction, not even me, but I shall destroy if disturbed.
Speaker 4 (42:13):
Yeah, he's like, quit poking the bear, Hendrick.
Speaker 3 (42:16):
Yeah we might get like another little like that.
Speaker 4 (42:19):
I don't want that. I don't want that. I don't
want to my favorite rappers.
Speaker 2 (42:22):
I was hoping there was going to be a possible
Little Wayne appearance during the super Bowl halftime show.
Speaker 3 (42:26):
But after that, like, I don't think that's happening.
Speaker 4 (42:29):
Yeah, No, I mean I don't. I don't think so,
especially if they start footing.
Speaker 5 (42:32):
But yeah, I mean it was the song was bagged
up that my fiance came in and like that snippet
has been out for a long time. It was just
like a twenty second snippet. Yeah, and it well, like
what megrobiol was just wild as just a snippet. And
so then he puts us on and I'm like, okay,
what what And then all of a sudden I hear
the rest of going and.
Speaker 3 (42:47):
I was like, woo chills, baby chills.
Speaker 5 (42:50):
And so then I've been That's what I've been listening to,
not soup. I hope that they don't keep feuding or
that they don't actually feud, because those are two of
my favorite rappers. And uh, but I like I would
have to take Cye and it would have to be
Low Wayne because again, like I have invested so much
of my life in being his fan.
Speaker 8 (43:05):
I have to.
Speaker 5 (43:06):
He is tattooed on my body, like his lyrics are
tattooed on my body and I do not regret a
second of that. So, like I would have, I've already
picked a side if I have to, So just don't
make me do it.
Speaker 3 (43:15):
Guys, I love them both equally.

All right, guys, we're coming down to the last seven
weeks of the NFL season and this can make or
break a lot of teams, Teams on the edge, teams
trying to hold on, or teams.
Speaker 3 (43:56):
Just looking towards the future.
Speaker 2 (43:58):
So we're gonna play do we trust, and we're going
to go through a list of teams, and we're going
to start with the Bears. Carmen, we haven't had you
on since everything went down two weeks ago firing their
OC You were at that crazy game last weekend?
Speaker 3 (44:13):
Go off? What's the like in the Bears building right now?
Speaker 4 (44:16):
Like do we trust them to do?
Speaker 8 (44:17):
What?
Speaker 2 (44:18):
Do you trust them that helped kyleb become a great quarterback?
Do you trust them to make the right choices moving forward?
Speaker 5 (44:26):
As long as we're not because I feel like the
rest of these were talking about like.
Speaker 3 (44:28):
Posting this season. No, no, this is the future.
Speaker 2 (44:30):
This is this is not Do you trust them to
handle the future properly with now whoever they bring in,
because it doesn't really feel like ebra Flus might be
their next year either, Like so there might be in
a complete new system and you had what everyone thought
was going to be the future of quarterbacks in the
NFL in Caleb Williams, I trust.
Speaker 4 (44:50):
Kleb to be different, I'll say that much.
Speaker 5 (44:53):
I don't try, but I don't trust it because I
think the organization is behaving any differently because theoretically and historically.
Speaker 4 (44:59):
They are not.
Speaker 5 (45:00):
No, Like if they end up firing Mattieberflues, which I
still think is an if because he reportedly still has
two years left on his contract, and we have seen
Bear's ownership not be willing to pay coaches if they
have more years multiple years left on their contracts. So
I still think that that's an if. But even if
they were to do that and fire Mattiberflus, then they
(45:21):
are perpetuating a cycle that has happened twice now in
a row before that would to be a third time
in a row that they have fired a head coach
the year after taking a quarterback in the first round.
It happened to Justin Fields, it happened to Mitch Trubisky
before him. I do, however, this is the caveats all
of it. I trust Caleb to come out the other
(45:42):
side better than the other two. I still don't know
up to his potential. Yeah, because I do think we're
seeing more than ever that initial situation matters more and
coaching matters more than ever. You look at guys like
Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, even Jared Goff who was left
for dead by the Rams and now has this resurgence
with the Lions. Yeah, situation and coaching matters a tremendous amount.
(46:03):
And I do think though that Caleb Williams can withstand
having his head coach fired bringing somebody else in because
of what he's already showed us this season. You go
back to stuff like the Washington game, which was absolutely
catastrophic at the end. But if you look at that game,
the first three quarters, Caleb was awful, the offense was awful,
everything was going poorly, and yet that fourth quarter, Caleb
(46:27):
fought back, ye turned it on, got the Bears to
a lead with twenty five seconds left, so that it
was going to take a miracle for Washington to end
up winning the game.
Speaker 4 (46:35):
Now they got that miracle, but that had nothing to
do with Kayler Williams.
Speaker 2 (46:37):
Nope.
Speaker 5 (46:38):
And then you look at this game against the Green
Bay Packers. This was even like this was now condensed
into one drive where the Packers go down and score.
You have to Now you're behind by by a point,
you have to get a field goal. That's all you need, though,
and you've got a couple of minutes. It is a
quintessential two minute drill. What happens Caleb Williams gets sacked
(46:59):
on the first two plays of that game, back to back.
Speaker 4 (47:02):
What happens after that?
Speaker 5 (47:04):
Third and nineteen he converts to Roma Dunsay, fourth and
three he converts to Romadunzay. He gets the Bears into
within Cairo Santos their kickers range to set up the
game winning field goal.
Speaker 4 (47:16):
That is all you could have asked of him to do.
Speaker 5 (47:18):
And to have the mental fortitude to be able to
get down and then fight back even when you take
back to back sacks and you're in these low probability situations.
The belief he has in himself is unshakeable. So I
do think that I, like Kayleb Williams, will end up
better than his two predecessors, as in Justin Fields and
(47:40):
mister Bisky. How far beyond that sincerely depends on the
Bears doing the right thing. But I don't trust them
to do that because we have not seen them spend
money on a head coach. And in order to really
get going, you have to pick the right guy. You
have to pay the right guy, and I don't necessarily
(48:01):
trust them to do that when their track record outside
of John Fox in recent memory has been let's take
the chance on the young offensive mind or the defensive mind.
Let's take a chance on the coordinator that's ever been
a head coach before.
Speaker 4 (48:14):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (48:15):
No, Yeah, I'm with you.
Speaker 2 (48:16):
I don't trust the Bears, but I do trust Caleb
can be a great quarterback.
Speaker 3 (48:22):
But also with the right.
Speaker 4 (48:24):
Fit, he has a lot of talent around him. Yeah,
and that's going to help.
Speaker 3 (48:29):
Yeah, I hope so, man.
Speaker 5 (48:30):
And we've seen a lot from Thomas Brown already, the
new offensive play caller. He made things a lot easier
on Caleb in that game against Green Bay. He made
things a lot easier for this offens This offense looks
a little bit more cohesive and looks like it's supposed
to within this system.
Speaker 3 (48:45):
Do you think it's already better with the new offensive cornattion.
Speaker 5 (48:47):
I can't say for sure because I need you to
do it again now. It looked better against the Green
Bay Packers, for sure. It looked light years better, which
would consider how much.
Speaker 3 (48:55):
Trying to miss game. That's also crazy, and when you.
Speaker 5 (48:58):
Consider how much time Thomas Brown had to like turn
things around, and that nothing that they were game planning
for that week had anything to do with the Green
Bay Packers and everything to do with just fixing what
was wrong with the Bears. Now you're going against another
division opponent this week in the Minnesota Vikings. You're going
against a really complex defense. Can you continue to evolve
now that you've shown some things on tape of what
(49:20):
you're like as the offensive play caller of the Chicago Bears,
can you evolve that now? Can you continue to learn?
Can you actually game plan for opponents?
Speaker 3 (49:27):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (49:27):
That is the big question mark right now.
Speaker 5 (49:29):
But I feel better about it, and I don't think
there's any question that the Bears did the right thing
by firing Shane Waldron.
Speaker 2 (49:36):
No, all right, let's move on to our Thursday snow game.
That was just magical. That felt like like a movie.
Speaker 4 (49:45):
Why I fell in love.
Speaker 3 (49:46):
With literally watching it.
Speaker 2 (49:49):
It made the sun setting super early and the darkness.
Speaker 3 (49:53):
Living in the darkness early felt like everything felt right.
You know. I wanted soup. I wanted soup, I made
super I want, I want. I did a hot tea.
Speaker 2 (50:01):
And sit back on the couch and watching the snow game.
But the Steelers, let's talk about the Steelers. Do we
trust the Steelers because it was a tough loss in
Cleveland on Thursday, and uh, George Pickens made a comment
after the game saying conditions played a huge, huge part
in today's game. I don't really think the Cleveland Browns
are a good team. I think the conditions kind of
(50:21):
save them today. I don't like weather excuses because everyone
has to play in it. We know division games are
always wild. But also Mike Tomlin is now zero to
four in Cleveland on Thursday.
Speaker 3 (50:31):
Nights, Like it's just weird. It's such a weird thing.
But it's again that he has.
Speaker 4 (50:36):
It's a division thing.
Speaker 3 (50:38):
Anything can happen in a division division game.
Speaker 5 (50:40):
You're so familiar with these opponents even when they are
you know they have like Jameis Winston. Yeah, but I
think it was so funny to me. Okay, I worked
with Jamis and Tampa.
Speaker 2 (50:50):
Hilarious all the way up, Like if he plays he
hasn't played in snow, is he.
Speaker 3 (50:53):
Going to be able to do it?
Speaker 5 (50:55):
But like, I don't think anybody told Jamis that you
have to adjust for the snow. Because that man was
slinging it despite the conditions and it honestly, it worked out.
Speaker 2 (51:04):
It's actually for the best, Like what you don't know,
you don't know, and he just like kept playing it.
Speaker 5 (51:08):
Like I don't think that's a way to live, but
like you, like you you should absolutely kind of adjust
for conditions such as those, But it just so happened
that it worked out for the Browns.
Speaker 2 (51:19):
The game has like won the game personalities his quotes
like like everything as you said, just like taking the
chances that normally don't work.
Speaker 5 (51:27):
Don't yeah, normal, like exactly like things work regardless because
like some of those receivers, there's no way that could really.
Speaker 2 (51:33):
Even see you didn't see anything like you literally was
like that was wild. That went like the before and
after photos of like before the game and during the
game or And.
Speaker 5 (51:40):
I also think that the Browns were helped by the
fact that they know that their kicker isn't really good anyway,
so like they were never really going to try any
sort of even if the conditions hadn't been like that. Yeah,
they weren't going to try a long field goal they
weren't good at like if they were in fourth and short,
they were going for it.
Speaker 3 (51:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (51:55):
So like I think that combined with everything, it was
just kind of like the perfect storm for Cleveland. So
I and I think I do trust the Steelers too.
Speaker 2 (52:03):
I don't think that's that Thursday night loss is a
reason to worry about the Steelers. That was Russ's first
loss of the season. And he's looked good. You know,
the defense has looked good. They're still top five in
points allowed, still top ten in yards allowed. I still
trust Mike Tomlin. I think they have all the pieces
that they need to make it. Like, obviously they're looking
(52:25):
good right now to get into the playoffs, but then
also to kind of make.
Speaker 3 (52:29):
Some sort of run in the postseason.
Speaker 5 (52:31):
Well, you have to, like you have to take into
account the track record that Mike Tomlin has.
Speaker 4 (52:35):
He's never had a losing season.
Speaker 5 (52:36):
In Pittsburgh, and they squeak into the playoffs all the time,
given the fact that they have such a good defense
that they can rely on. What's different about this team now?
And I think what the real question is when you
talk about trusting them is can they then win a
playoff game. I don't think there's any question that they're
going to make the playoffs?
Speaker 4 (52:55):
Yeah, are they going? Are they good enough now?
Speaker 5 (52:57):
With the offensive production that Russell Wilson now brings and
the way to the connecting plus utilizing the ground game
correctly like you have so many like Arthur Smith is
evolving with this team based on Russell Wilsons skill sets.
You now see Justin Field's getting involved in certain packages
(53:19):
because the established order is in place, Like Russell Wilson
is definitely the starter, so now you can bring in
Fields on some of these different packages that make it
really creative because you never know what he's getting hard
for the opposing team really like you can streuss so
like all of this. Now offensive production is something that
we haven't been able to count on in Pittsburgh.
Speaker 4 (53:37):
Since Ben Roethlisberger.
Speaker 3 (53:39):
It's crazy.
Speaker 5 (53:39):
So now the question becomes do I trust them to
actually go on a playoff run?
Speaker 4 (53:45):
And I still think the answer.
Speaker 3 (53:46):
Is yeah, yeah, no, same.
Speaker 2 (53:48):
I mean, they have a pretty tough like end of
the season schedule coming up. They're at Bengals and Burrow
has looked incredible all year despite the tough losses versus
the Browns again, at Eagles, at Ravens Chiefs on Christmas.
Speaker 4 (54:01):
They're going through.
Speaker 2 (54:01):
They literally like this might be one of the toughest
back ends.
Speaker 4 (54:06):
It's second to only Chicago.
Speaker 3 (54:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (54:08):
I was gonna say, this is absolutely insane. And I've
gone back and forth with this team all year. I
believe to Justin Fields, I did not believe in Russ
then got proved wrong, which I love prove me wrong.
Speaker 3 (54:17):
I love a comeback story.
Speaker 2 (54:18):
They have all the corpieces to get it done, and
you have a future Hall of Fame coach in Mike
Tomlin and.
Speaker 5 (54:24):
The fact that he's been able to put a lid
on of so many players throughout the years, Like clearly
George Pickens is a loose cannon, Like yeah, you think
at the end of that game is like yeah, charging right, uh,
And like you look back on some of the other
players that they've had in Pittsburgh and the fact that
Mike Tomlin has just a lid on all of this
(54:45):
for the most cars and then they go off somewhere
else and then just it's catastrophic. Yeah, it's it's wild
to me. Yep, he deserves Coach of the Year just
for that.
Speaker 3 (54:54):
Is he top faith? He might?
Speaker 4 (54:56):
No, he's not.
Speaker 5 (54:56):
I mean, I still believe that the Coach the Year
is coming out of the NFC. Whether it's Dan Campbell,
whether it's Kevin O'Connell, whether it's Matt Lafleur, those guys.
I mean, I think you can make a case for
a couple of other guys too. Across the board. But
I really do think that it's coming out of the
NSC North because what those teams are doing. I mean
that that division is dominating. Yeah it is, and like
(55:17):
it's hungry. No, it's it's the best division in the
league in football.
Speaker 2 (55:21):
Okay, so real quick, because we don't have a ton
of time for these last two. But the forty nine Ers,
the team that has been plagued with injuries, who now
will not have the quarterback Brock Party or defensive end
Nick Bosa this weekend. Unfortunately, the way their luck has
gone this season, I don't trust the forty nine Ers.
It just it's just not their year. And sometimes it's
(55:42):
a complete dumpsterer fire there. I think they might be
the oldest roster in the NFL, and you kind of.
Speaker 3 (55:48):
Forget that.
Speaker 4 (55:50):
Because of Kent Williams. They have so.
Speaker 2 (55:52):
Many elite players, but everybody is getting hit this year
and sometimes that just happens.
Speaker 4 (55:58):
I do not trust them. With Trent william can't play.
I expect Track.
Speaker 5 (56:01):
Williams to be able to play, but he's questionable coming
into this game that they don't know he apparently is
a game time decision. If they lose this week which
I think is a probability at this point.
Speaker 4 (56:11):
Then no, I'm out on the forty nine ers.
Speaker 5 (56:13):
And it's interesting though, because we've seen them be able
to come out of their bye week as we talked
about this a couple of weeks ago, and just like
run the table and they get so much better after
their buys. But with this many injuries and not having
Brock party, you're really going to see can Kyle Shanahan adjust? Yeah,
And that's the question because he's always had these like
Pro Bowl type players, multiple Pro Bowl players on his offense.
(56:36):
And sure, the scheme is really fun and creative, and
it again, half the league is now based on the
system that he and McVeigh kind of run. But Shanahan
has always had the benefit of having these like Pro
Bowl all Pro caliber players on his offense and multiple
of these guys.
Speaker 4 (56:52):
So, now, can you do it?
Speaker 5 (56:54):
When we've seen Matt Laflour be able to do it
when Malik Willis had to come in for a couple
of games and then in the middle of the game
he adjusted wildly to what he was asking Jordan Love
to do. Can Kyle Shanahan now do the same thing
with Brandon Allen, that's the question here. But you're now
going onst the Green Bay team that, yes, barely got
past the Chicago Bears, but the pressure was better. Jordan
(57:17):
Love is getting more consistent reps, he's healthy. Finally, I
just I don't I don't see this going well for
the Niners.
Speaker 2 (57:25):
Okay, these are these last two are going to be
like yes and no's because we got to go the
Vikings because I think they're still kind of flying under
the radar. Yeah, I trust them. I trust them too.
The Chargers, I trust them. I'm like, I'm I trust them.
I'm on the hardball trained baby, I.
Speaker 5 (57:41):
Do, but I trust I do. But honestly, I think
it has more to do with esse Mentor's defense. Again,
we're not talking enough about them. They're average, They're not
allowing more than fifteen points.
Speaker 3 (57:51):
Do we trust Yeah? Yeah, yeah, Chargers and the defense
we trust. All Right, We're going to take a quick
break here, but when we come back, can you be
the greatest of all time?
Speaker 2 (58:00):
In the middle of your career. You're listening to Fox
Sports Radio. Welcome back to Fox Football Saturday. I'm Alex

Speaker 3 (58:30):
Well CARMEI today not today.
Speaker 2 (58:31):
This week the MLB Awards were announced and a huge
congratulations to the unanimous MVPs Aaron Judge and show Heyo Tani,
two absolute superstars in their prime.
Speaker 3 (58:46):
We're both voted unanimous MVP. Show Hey O Tani.
Speaker 2 (58:50):
Now before no one had ever won multiple MVPs unanimously,
let alone three. He's also the first full time DH
to win MVP. He had his first fifty to fifty season.
He started and founded the fifty to fifty Club, creating
and breaking his own records.
Speaker 3 (59:07):
He also joined a few other elite clubs.
Speaker 2 (59:08):
A sixth player to win MVP with two different teams,
one of twelve players to have three plus MVPs. A
few of those other guys, Mike Trout, Pohols, a Rod Jodamaggio,
Mickey Mannle, Barry Bonds, US seven. Another reason why it's
absolutely ridiculous that he is not in the Baseball Hall
of Fame. That's a story for another day because I
could take a whole hour to go off on how
(59:29):
ridiculous that is. But Otani is changing the game, you guys.
He's making him breaking his own records. He's a unicorn.
He is the goat.
Speaker 3 (59:36):
Can you be the goat like when you're in the
middle of your career?
Speaker 2 (59:38):
I don't know, but I know he definitely is going
to be eventually at one point he needs a couple
more titles, which I do believe now the Dodgers are
going to get a couple more in the next five years.
Speaker 3 (59:49):
I'm feeling strong about that, I'm feeling confident about that.
Speaker 4 (59:51):
I'm really excited to see him start pitching again.
Speaker 5 (59:53):
Oh it's ough because there's still that little shred of
doubt that, like after an injury like this, like is
he going to be able to return.
Speaker 2 (01:00:00):
A second second? Tommy John that the non Tommy John.
Tommy John, Uh, do you like?
Speaker 5 (01:00:05):
Is he going to be able to really come back
and be the player he was beforehand. But I think
like MLB just has to be so excited for the
fact that now that show Hayes in the NL. Yes,
now you've got Judge in the AL. Like these two
guys now just kind of going head to head.
Speaker 3 (01:00:22):
No, they're like getting back and forth.
Speaker 4 (01:00:24):
Like these are. This is like a golden age of baseball.
Speaker 3 (01:00:28):
It really is. It's really fun absolute superstars being.
Speaker 4 (01:00:33):
On like the most visible franchises.
Speaker 2 (01:00:35):
The franchise spend the most money, says that have the
biggest fan base, the biggest draw.
Speaker 3 (01:00:39):
It's the best thing that could happen to baseball.
Speaker 4 (01:00:41):
They spend the most money. They like they but the.
Speaker 3 (01:00:44):
Yankees used to. I think the Mets spend more money
than the Yankees.
Speaker 5 (01:00:46):
Now both New York teams are spending a lot of them.
I think they're both in the top five. I believe
in payrolls. Yeah, as well as the Dodgers. I really
love that you're still adding resources to around this guy
to make sure that you're taking advantage of the window
that you have. But like just seeing like heavyweights, storied franchises,
it's all he could ask for going head to head
(01:01:07):
I like MLB has to be.
Speaker 2 (01:01:09):
I'm so and I hope everyone at home, if you're
a fan of baseball, you understand how exciting this is
to witness this kind of greatness at the same time together.
And I think we're going to see a lot of
the judge Otani winning these awards for the next handful.
Speaker 3 (01:01:22):
Of years, and exactly if they do, it's it's great
for the game.
Speaker 2 (01:01:26):
But I also want to give a shout out to
Paul Skeens also Workie of the Years both pitchers.
Speaker 4 (01:01:32):
Which was insane nineteen eighty one.
Speaker 2 (01:01:34):
Yeah, absolutely insane. But Paul Skeens has had an absolute
tear of a life over the last year and a half.
He won the College World Series, won College World Series MVP,
drafted first overall. Right around that time, his relationship with
Livy Dunne also went public. Called up to the majors
just after ten months not a very common thing, posted
a one point nine to six ERA in his first
(01:01:55):
MLB season, named an All Star after just eleven starts,
name the All Star Star Picture, won n L Rookie
of the Year, and was an NLCY Young finalist. That
is insane And if you watched or have seen any
of the memes of his reaction when he won an
OL Rookie of the Year.
Speaker 4 (01:02:12):
That's great.
Speaker 5 (01:02:12):
I mean it's it's just as much him and Levy,
because Livy is like Livy's the excited.
Speaker 2 (01:02:16):
One, freaked out, she had a great time, and he
was stone cold honestly, honestly.
Speaker 5 (01:02:21):
More than a stone cold face. I think it was
just like he's just awkward and doesn't want to be
the center of attention like that, like he just didn't know.
Speaker 3 (01:02:27):
What to do with there was like how it feels
like great?
Speaker 4 (01:02:30):
I mean yeah, like the interview reacted too.
Speaker 5 (01:02:34):
He's not overly like gregarious any of his interviews and
stuff like that. He's just kind of like uncomfortable with
all of the attention, which is really funny given how
good at baseball he is. Yeah, yeah, I mean there's
no surprise there either. I think that that probably played
into it too, given like he was what the first
rookie pitcher to start the All Star Game since the
Diagonomo in nineteen ninety five. That like, after a tear
(01:02:56):
like all of that, you can't be surprised that you
end up with Rookie of the Year.
Speaker 2 (01:03:01):
I just I mean it's it's it's humble, it's hilarious,
but also like what a stud?
Speaker 3 (01:03:06):
I know what a stud?
Speaker 4 (01:03:08):
It's so cool, and baby, I'm all on that train
and put.
Speaker 2 (01:03:13):
Two and two together there for you won the national
championship with LS.
Speaker 3 (01:03:17):
Okay, okay with LS. Yes, you adopted team.
Speaker 4 (01:03:21):
My new adopted team.
Speaker 5 (01:03:22):
My fiance went to the College World Series and went
to a bar. The bar I forget how I'm gonna
blank on the name and he's gonna kill me. There's
a bar there that does jello shots for each team
until you can buy jello shots each Like Lsu blew
everyone out of the water, everyone even before the owner
of Raising Canes came in, Todd Graves and like bought
(01:03:44):
like thirty thousand yellow shots. Yeah, but like Lsu had
already had the lead when that, it's a lot of pride.
Speaker 2 (01:03:51):
Now that like program, the last part of the season
is officially over with all the awards. A couple of
names to keep an eye on this offseason, you guys.
Won Soto, he's met with the Mets, Dodgers, Phillies this weekend.
And Roki Sasaki, the next big picture to come out
of Japan. I think he might end up with the
Dodgers because the Dodgers are now Japan's team and Yamamoto
and Otani are gonna be a huge influence. But he's
(01:04:13):
getting posted, so a lot of exciting things this offseason.
Speaker 3 (01:04:17):
But now let's check in with Monty Bilo and see
what's trending. Jello shots. Huh oh, yeah, that's the last
time you had a jello shot.
Speaker 4 (01:04:25):
I mean I didn't have any of these. Let's be
very clear.
Speaker 7 (01:04:28):
They are dangerous, like no, thank you, yeah, and like
the ones that are the most dangerous taste the worst,
like they're you're like, yeah, you know what I mean, like.
Speaker 3 (01:04:37):
Oh, this isn't even this isn't even good. Maybe Collin.
Speaker 2 (01:04:40):
I think Sharky's was like the they have the they're.
Speaker 7 (01:04:42):
Almost like shot like a syringe, the syringe shott.
Speaker 5 (01:04:46):
I've actually had a syring shot before I had. My
parents used to like jel I'm not kidding. My mom's
friend is a nurse and she would bring it over.
She would build a good nurse ring up with my
parents party.
Speaker 7 (01:05:00):
So we're invited to your parents' parties the next time
is basically what I'm hearing here. We got some close
games Ladies at halftime. Number four Penn State is currently
losing to Minnesota nineteen to sixteen. Number sixteen Colorado losing
to Kansas at halftime twenty three to fourteen. Number three
Texas did extend their lead over Kentucky.
Speaker 3 (01:05:19):
They were tied, not anymore.
Speaker 7 (01:05:21):
It's twenty four to seven at the half. Number twenty
one Arizona State. Girl, they are all over Number fourteen
BYU Twenty one to three is a score. Halfway through
the third quarter, it's all number seventeen Clemson against the Citadel,
not to be confused with the Outlets. Not too far
from here. Clemson up forty two zero early in the
third quarter. We've got number twenty three Missouri up on
Mississippi State twenty eight to ten with about four minutes
(01:05:43):
to go in the first half. And number eighteen South
Carolina beating Wafford Wooford.
Speaker 3 (01:05:48):
Wafford, Wafford.
Speaker 7 (01:05:49):
You know, I think I said Wofford because I see
a little dog and so I thought wolf.
Speaker 3 (01:05:53):
You know what I'm saying. Wafford Wafford twenty one to
nine is the score.
Speaker 7 (01:05:57):
At What happened earlier today in college football, well, number
two Ohio State came alive in the second half defeated
Number five Indiana thirty eight to fifteen, handing the Hoosiers
their first loss of the season. Number eight Miami crushedwake
for US forty two to fourteen. Florida with an upset
over Number nine Ole Miss twenty four to seventeen, likely
knocking the Rebels out of college football playoff contention. Number
ten Georgia Cruz pass Massachusetts fifty nine to twenty one.
(01:06:20):
Number thirteen SMU beat Virginia thirty three to seven, clinching
a spot in the ACC Championship game. Number twenty five
Illinois survived against Rutgers thirty eight to thirty one, and
number excuse me, eleven Tennessee.
Speaker 3 (01:06:32):
Crushed UTEP fifty six.
Speaker 1 (01:06:33):
Z row.
Speaker 3 (01:06:35):
A little NFL news for you.
Speaker 7 (01:06:36):
The Giants have officially waived quarterback Daniel Jones. They say
that on Monday he's gonna be officially good to go
and he'll probably be signed before we know it. Tim
Boyle was signed off the practice squad. Cowboys are going
to be without right tackle Zach Martin and without cornerback
Trevon Diggs on Monday as they take on the Commanders.
And lastly, here guys, I don't know if you heard
this that Novak Djokovic has hired.
Speaker 3 (01:06:58):
His rive.
Speaker 7 (01:07:01):
A light of a lifetime, Andy Murray, to be his
coach for the upcoming season. His lifetime arrival is now
going to be his coach on the sideline.
Speaker 4 (01:07:10):
For twenty fives.
Speaker 7 (01:07:12):
I mean right, I mean like, you go, Djokovic and
you go girls.
Speaker 3 (01:07:17):
Back to you, thank you Mansi.
Speaker 2 (01:07:18):
You're listening to the Fox Football Saturday and Alex Caurier
with Carmen Vitally. We are broadcasting live from the Tar
tak Com Studios in Los Angeles, and it is time
for our next guest, Broncos team reporter at least her Nandez.
Speaker 3 (01:07:29):
Welcome back.
Speaker 9 (01:07:31):
Hey, how are you guys?
Speaker 2 (01:07:33):
We're doing Gray and what a week it's been for
your quarterback.
Speaker 3 (01:07:38):
Bonix was just named.
Speaker 2 (01:07:39):
The AFC Offensive Player of the Week and Rookie of
the Week for the second consecutive week. How have you
seen bo grow as a player and a leader over
his first eleven weeks in the league.
Speaker 9 (01:07:50):
I mean he went for the hat trick really with
the accolades, also one Fedeggs around an air Player of
the Week. I mean, he just put on such a
good performance against the Falcons, and I think seeing him
from week one to now, it's it's a talent that
was always there. I mean, even in that first you
know game in Seattle where the Broncos lost, he did
not waiver and he still went on, you know, driving
(01:08:11):
down the fields and try to get the win towards
the end. And that kind of attitude and that kind
of talent continued to just trickle down and slowly and
now he's kind of grown and more. And most of
the guys on the team had said like, there are
no more rookies on this team. And even when you
hear Botok, it's really funny. He had a he was
talking in the media and he was just like, yeah,
you know, really got to help out these young guys,
and it's like, who you're a young guy. You are
(01:08:32):
one of the young guys. So but just like you know,
his poison, the way he's been able to command his
bocker room has really added, I think to his success
and the way that he's been playing. It was just
about time that he kind of got over the hump
and really kind of show what he can do. And
I think it started with that game in Kansas City
in particular.
Speaker 5 (01:08:50):
I think it's so funny though, because he was probably
he was used to being one of the old guys
in college, given how much he played in college, and
then he comes here and he's like, yeah, I'm not
a rookie anymore.
Speaker 4 (01:08:59):
I played that.
Speaker 5 (01:09:00):
It's like way too many snaps in college to be
a rookie. I think it's really interesting though, to see
kind of how this offense is now opening up with
Bonix because Sean Payton seems to trust him a little
bit more.
Speaker 4 (01:09:11):
I mean, the offensive production is now there.
Speaker 5 (01:09:13):
I mean he's honestly, from the very beginning he was
two hundred two hundred yards two hundred fifty yards a game,
but the touchdown scoring production wasn't quite there. Now you
see him go off against the Falcons with four touchdowns?
What have you seen between him and Sean Payton that
suggests that Sean is now kind of opening things up
for bo because he trusts him.
Speaker 9 (01:09:34):
Yeah, I think the trust was always there. I think
since the day that he drafted him. Their relationship is
one of those where you it's such a good balance, right,
like even with BA winning on accolades, and it was
funny Champagne said like, you know, let's not sense, you
can't just yet. And I mean it's it's such a
good refreshing thing because you don't want the rookie, like
(01:09:54):
any rookie in particular, to get to ahead of itself
and the moment get bigger than them and they kind
of lose track of what the folks and they compliment
each other so well and just kind of seeing them
on the sideline and just seeing how they're able to
really kind of produce and just let Bo be Bo.
And I think that's one of the things that Sean
Payne has done a great job of of just understanding
(01:10:14):
the areas that he needs to improve and giving those
to him and Bo being open to those areas. And
I think with Bo, you know, he really showed off
his rushing attack, right and what he can do with
his legs in the first half of the season. He's
showing off what he can do with his arm in
the second half of the season. And he had mentioned like,
you know, I don't want to be known as a
rushing quarterback, right right, That's not what I want to
be known for. And for him to really kind of
(01:10:37):
be able to distribute the ball more He's hitting a
lot of his targets.
Speaker 8 (01:10:40):
Lil Jo and Humphreys had a touchdown.
Speaker 9 (01:10:41):
Last week toward Franklin Marvin Mins. There were four from
four in the red zone in week eleven, And I
think it's just his way of going out to performing.
You know, winning is obviously the way to continue, especially
with the Broncos and the way they've had a drop
with the playoffs the last few years, and so for
him to kind of come in and have an outing
and I just think you trust in what Champagne is
(01:11:02):
doing here with the Broncos.
Speaker 5 (01:11:04):
I want to talk a little bit more about, you
know what you have to give another question on bo.
Speaker 3 (01:11:10):
Was that memes that you what last one?
Speaker 4 (01:11:13):
Oh? I what is? Sorry? Yeah you had the last question.
Speaker 5 (01:11:22):
I wanted to talk about the Broncos defense because I
just feel like they are not getting enough.
Speaker 9 (01:11:28):
They beat all the flowers, all the flowers, let it
rain down.
Speaker 3 (01:11:31):
The second points allowed, third in yards allowed.
Speaker 5 (01:11:34):
Like it's it's wild, especially because like that's kind of
how they, uh they they got through kind of you know,
the early stages of what this offense is going to
look like.
Speaker 9 (01:11:44):
Yeah, no, yeah, this this defense has been incredible and
I think it's a big hat tip to Van Slim.
Speaker 8 (01:11:50):
Was that he's been able to do with the pieces
that they have here.
Speaker 9 (01:11:52):
They obviously extended Jonathan Cooper not too long ago, and
just like their front defensive front has just been so
impressive with Nick Bonito coming into his own this season,
back Aallen really getting the recognition that he needs. And
again those guys JFM playing from the Jets, you know,
like I said, Cooper and it's just you have all
these guys and the way that they're jelling together is
just so impressive. I mean, the defense has the most
(01:12:14):
facts in the NFL so far with thirty nine there,
they rank about three. They have about three point six
sacks per game and that puts them on pace to
break a franchise record that was fit in nineteen eighty
four that stands at fifty seven. So they're at thirty
nine right now, and you know they're going against the
Raiders that are tied for fifth and a lot of
the most sacks of season. So the fact that they're
(01:12:34):
going against the Raiders line that has allowed the six
highest quarterback pressure percentage, it's gonna fare well with them
because the way they've been able to really get.
Speaker 8 (01:12:41):
After the quarterbacks.
Speaker 9 (01:12:42):
I mean every quarterback from the Patrick Mahomes to the.
Speaker 8 (01:12:44):
Bright songs of this league.
Speaker 9 (01:12:46):
They don't you know, they take no prisoner. They make
sure that they let it know that they're going to
put out there, go out and put on the show.
Speaker 2 (01:12:53):
I'm happy for Oh, here we go and I'm back.
I mean, it's been fun to watch, and I'm happy
for Sean Payton because he definitely, you know, he bet
it all on Boonix and kind of the growth that
we've seen from BO so far this season, do you
think he has a real chance to challenge Jane Daniels
now that he really hasn't been the same since as
rib injury for Offensive Rookie.
Speaker 8 (01:13:14):
Of the Year. Yeah, I think you have anyone in
the locker room.
Speaker 9 (01:13:18):
You know, they have all the face in BO, from
the defensive guys, offensive guys. You know, It's funny after
the win in Atlanta, p J lock had mentioned he how.
Speaker 8 (01:13:26):
Much he believes in BO, and he's like.
Speaker 9 (01:13:28):
And I hope he wins Offensive Rookie again, and then
Meg you want it right? So yeah, I think I
think it's fair to say like he's definitely putting his
name in the race, and I think it's well deserving
for him to put his name in the race. And
that doesn't take anyway from Dad and Daniels at all,
But I think when you look at what this team
has been able to do with the defensive side, and
then now you're looking what bo was able to do
(01:13:48):
really in the sick of the season. I mean, I
think if the Broncos continue on this pace and you know,
get to the postseason, actually there's no real debate there
of who should be Rookie of the Year.
Speaker 2 (01:13:57):
Lisa, thank you so much for joining us, and I'm
so happy for you have been having like the best
time ever first season, Yeah I have.
Speaker 9 (01:14:03):
I have. I experienced my first know out here. That
was a lot of fun. I've never woken up to
the snow before. It's one of those things. But yeah, no,
seeing this team grow, honestly has been fun. Obviously, I
was a Broncos fan growing up, and so that fandom
mixed with now my professionalism of just covering this team,
(01:14:23):
it's been a lot of fun to just watch. And
obviously I've been a big fan of Champain for many years,
and so seeing his way of doing things and what
he's been able to do with this team and the
culture he's building with the Broncos is just it's really
cool to see from outside looking in and from the
inside looking out.
Speaker 2 (01:14:38):
Well, it's been fun to follow you. Congratulations on everything
and thanks for joining us.
Speaker 9 (01:14:41):
I appreciate you, guys. Hope you get a win on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (01:14:44):
All right, guys, we're gonna take one more break here,
but when we come back, we're making our Week twelve
NFL picks.
Speaker 3 (01:14:48):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (01:14:51):
Welcome back to Fox Football Saturday. Alex Curry here with
Carmen Vitally. We are broadcasting live from the tartak Com
Studios in Los Angeles. Thanks for us in the last
two hours with us, We've had a lot of fun.
But now it's time for our week or.
Speaker 3 (01:15:05):
Week twelve picks. Producer Patrick Oh, Yes, and well last week.
Speaker 4 (01:15:12):
I don't remember how I did that. Yeah, well I
got my pick saying I wasn't on the phone. You did.
Speaker 10 (01:15:18):
You did, in fact, get your picks in and you
know what, I commended on that one that said, and
let me just it's not a good pick. In fact, Alex,
you went one and four. Wasn't wasn't great.
Speaker 3 (01:15:33):
But hey, Carmen, you went.
Speaker 10 (01:15:35):
Two and three. We're climbing everybody. Oh man, well that's
one week. We were on to the next. Let's go
for a more happier atmosphere and it's a new dawn.
Speaker 4 (01:15:48):
Let's go with game one.
Speaker 10 (01:15:50):
We have the forty nine ers taking on the Packers,
who are at home and five and a half point favorites. Yeah,
the leader in the clubhouse, miss Curry, what are we doing?
Speaker 2 (01:16:01):
This is an easy pick for me, especially with the
forty nine ers now without brock Perty and Nick Bosa.
They have been plagued with injuries this season and just
have not been able to recover. And Jordan Love has
a chip on his shoulder with San Francisco they were
the team that knocked him out the last year off.
Speaker 3 (01:16:18):
The Packers are going to be hungry for this game.
I'm taking the Packers.
Speaker 5 (01:16:21):
Yeah, I'm taking the Packers, who they Their biggest issue
on defense, especially had been they haven't been able to
get any pressure. They got three sacks on Kayleb Williams
last week. You could see in kind of them getting
better at that after their bye week, so I fully
expect them to bring it against a Niners offensive line
that could be without Trent Williams. I'm taking the Packers.
I'm taking them at the floor, taking Jordan Love at home.
Speaker 10 (01:16:43):
Well, speaking of the NFC North and part one of
my two favorite teams, we have my Minnesota Vikings on
the road three and a half point favorites at Carmen.
Speaker 4 (01:16:54):
Your Chicago Bears, they're not fine.
Speaker 5 (01:16:56):
Don't call them hometown in your hometown Chicago Bears. And
you know what, because I adore the Vikings, I adore
the Packers. I adore the Lions above all else. Right now,
you adore the North. I do I stand the North.
I not that you want to hear this, Patrick, I
know it's fine. I might be picking a weird one
(01:17:17):
and I might be going with the Bears.
Speaker 4 (01:17:20):
I mean, I am.
Speaker 5 (01:17:21):
Dang why they were so close against the Packers? Okay,
And I feel like this is kind of like the
pressures off. They're playing with house money this point. They
know that their record doesn't matter. At this point, you
just need Kaleb Williams to get better. And actually, for
one reason and one reason only, Kaila Williams was actually really.
Speaker 4 (01:17:38):
Good against the Blitz last week.
Speaker 5 (01:17:40):
Yeah, eight of ten eighty seven yards eight completions, gaining
a first town when the Packers blitzed him.
Speaker 4 (01:17:45):
So what does Brian Flores love to do? He loves
to blitz. I don't know.
Speaker 5 (01:17:50):
I'm not going to be surprised that the Vikings obviously
pulling out. They're the favored, you know, but I just
I think the Bears have a little bit of fight
left in them. They have some pride on the line.
I could see the Bears winning list. I'm gonna take them.
Speaker 2 (01:18:02):
Yeah, I mean we as we know, Division games are
always weird and really are a toss up, and as
you said, the Bears were so close that that could
give him that extra motivation, and that also that confidence
that they can hang.
Speaker 5 (01:18:15):
Like Brown is going to be a good play caller.
We'll see, I could I could eat my words later,
but we'll see.
Speaker 2 (01:18:20):
But I'm going to take the Vikings. They've won six
of the last eight meetings, and I did. They're all
around better team, so I think they take advantage of they.
Speaker 4 (01:18:26):
Are all right.
Speaker 10 (01:18:27):
Well, Alex, thank you, and Carmen, it's okay, I forgive you.
Speaker 1 (01:18:32):
We'll see.
Speaker 4 (01:18:33):
I'm not actually to be right here, but well we'll see. Well,
the chance. Speaking of other teams we will see about.
Speaker 10 (01:18:39):
We have the Philadelphia Eagles at on the road two
and a half one favorites, taking on the Los Angeles Rams.
Speaker 4 (01:18:48):
Rams are home, Alex, what are we filming?
Speaker 3 (01:18:50):
I've wanted to go back and forth between this.
Speaker 2 (01:18:52):
I almost like I'm kicking myself that I don't think
I am changing it. It's going to be a really
good game, but the Eagles of one sick straight. I know,
Rams are four in one of the last five games,
and I want to take the Rams just because, like
you know, homie is home team.
Speaker 3 (01:19:05):
But I'm gonna go with the Eagles.
Speaker 4 (01:19:07):
I'm taking the Rams.
Speaker 8 (01:19:08):
Damn.
Speaker 4 (01:19:11):
I don't fully trust the Eagles. I just don't.
Speaker 5 (01:19:13):
I don't know, and they're flying across the countries. Stuff
gets weird. I don't know, I don't know. I'm I
base that on really nothing because the Eagles are the
better team, but I just I'm gonna.
Speaker 4 (01:19:24):
Take the Rams.
Speaker 10 (01:19:24):
Well, well speaking, we're gonna stay in the NFC West
on this one, Carmen, because we have the Cardinals who
are on the road taking on my part two favorite
teams in the NFL, my Seattle Seahawks are one point
favorites on the road.
Speaker 4 (01:19:39):
Carmen taken away. Yeah, I'm taking the Seahawks.
Speaker 3 (01:19:41):
Yeah. I'm also taking the Seahawks.
Speaker 2 (01:19:43):
I think also because they just went through the crazy
week together with the storm, and they talked about how
it brought them closer together.
Speaker 3 (01:19:48):
All that job I liked.
Speaker 5 (01:19:49):
I like the Seahawks. Put this on a terror. He's
done so well overall this year.
Speaker 4 (01:19:54):
All right, final game.
Speaker 10 (01:19:56):
We have the Ravens two and a half point favorites
on the road, taking on the Charger.
Speaker 4 (01:20:01):
Alex, go for it.
Speaker 2 (01:20:02):
This is the horrible uh, both really strong running games.
Speaker 3 (01:20:06):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:20:06):
This is another one. I just kind of changed last minute.
Oh man, I'm even kicking myself. I'm going with the Chargers.
Speaker 4 (01:20:13):
I'm going with the Ravens.
Speaker 3 (01:20:14):
Okay, God, trust a little bit more.
Speaker 8 (01:20:17):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (01:20:17):
We'll see all right.
Speaker 2 (01:20:18):
Thanks for spending your Saturday afternoon with us. We'll see
you next week, same time, same place,
