Speaker 2 (00:26):
Box at the Giants, Chiefs at the Panthers, Cowboys at
the Commanders, Patriots at the Dolphins, Titans at the Texas,
Lions at the Colts, and Vikings at the Bears. So, Ritchie,
here we are Week twelve. S Now, we're getting down
to the nitty gritty.
Speaker 4 (00:40):
We are. Indeed, Look this is the time. We spoke
about this a little bit last week, but I'll reiterate
it here on today's Sunday show Man. We get to
start to see who teams really are when you start
smelling the Thanksgiving turkey in the oven. This is that
next part of the season where things start ratcheting up.
Teams need to lock down their identity, They need to
(01:03):
make whatever adjustments they need to make for the stretch run,
because for some of these teams, the playoffs have already started.
You are facing elimination unless you start playing better football,
or you're facing a situation where you could potentially be,
in terms of the seating race, be overtaken by another
team in your conference. Should you be so lucky to
(01:24):
be fighting for a spot higher than your own at
this moment or protecting one? Should your record reflect that?
This is movement time in the NFL. This is where
we start to see who teams are and also it's
when we start to see teams start to make plans
for the offseason. Yes, and it appears two teams in
New York are doing exactly that.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Well, let's talk about this because obviously the Giants SADA
will start Tommy DeVito at quarterback. I was talking yesterday
to our Fox Sports Radio NFL insider Adam Kaplan, who
assured me before the season we would not see Tommy
DeVito this year. Remember, they didn't sign Drew Lock, and
apparently the situation was this the organization wasn't as enamored
(02:07):
with Drew Lock as the coaching staff was of Drew Lock.
So this was an organization decision that we got sort
of like this cult hero here in Tommy DeVito. The
season's over, the fans want to see Tommy DeVito, so
we're going to give them Tommy DeVito. But you know,
you get to that point, Rich where you look at
the upcoming NFL draft, right and Shador Sanders appears to
(02:31):
be the only quarterback that people.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
Are buzzing about to be at the very top of
this draft.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
So it's not like the last couple of years we
had maybe options at the quarterback position.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
So when you start getting those teams that are.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
We don't want to use the word tanking to try
to put themselves in the best position to get that quarterback.
The Giants obviously being one of them, you think that
played at all in their decision to go with DeVito
over Drew Lock.
Speaker 4 (02:59):
Well, all of a sud a sudden business decisions start
being made. Right. You have Danny Jones Danny Dimes in
New York looking at his future as a Giant and
saying it's looking pretty bleak, So maybe I need a
fresh start somewhere. Like my former teammate Saquon Barkley who's
tearing it up with the Philadelphia Eagles, it's going to
be much less fortuitous, I would say in terms of
(03:21):
his pocketbook, because Sequon Barkley signed a big old free
agent deal. Danny Jones was cut, and we'll find his
next opportunity. Per sources, he wants to play with a
playoff contender. He doesn't want to be on a meandering
team looking for quarterback help. So we'll see if that
actually comes to fruition here. And then you look at
the New York Giants. Another quarterback who may be cut
(03:44):
released before the end of the season in Aaron Rodgers.
That's another organization who may be doing the dirty dance
of looking like you still care about a lost season
while trying to lose more games so you can improve
your lot in the lottery. That is the NFL.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
All right, this didn't take long.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
An eighty yard kickoff return set up a one play
drive for the Houston Texans nineteen yard touchdown pass CJ.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
Stroud to Stovers.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
So just like that, the Texans definitely a team in
need of a win right now to sort.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
Of get their stuff back on track.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
But one play, one touchdown, and the Texans take the
early seven to nothing lead over the hapless Tennessee Tits.
Another team that is definitely vying for that number one
overall pick.
Speaker 4 (04:29):
Yeah, the Tennessee Titans. My goodness, Brian Callahan, who is
offensive coordinator with the Bengals, he becomes a head coach
in Tennessee after they move on from Vrabel Hope Springs Eternal.
Maybe he can turn the key and find and unlocked
the lock to Will Levis, who has been a very
boom or bus quarterback. He almost looks worse this year
(04:50):
than he did last year.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
How about this another one pass, one touchdown drive for
the Chiefs, thirty five yard touchdown pass Patrick Mahomes the Noah,
and they've taken an early seven to nothing lead over
the Carolina Panthers. Now, if the Carolina Panthers were to
have the number one overall pick, are they looking for
a quarterback?
Speaker 4 (05:11):
I would? I would, right? I mean, what are we
talking about here? You missed and it's okay. And it
doesn't even mean that Bryce Young can't be an NFL
quarterback elsewhere or at all. It just means that in
this short run, in this short term, with the volatility
at the head of that organization, with changes at coaching
(05:33):
and all, that, he has not been a performer, And look,
it's hard. The NFL's hard. The quarterback position is the hardest.
So yeah, I would say they would be shopping quarterbacks
this offseason, and the draft is a good place to look.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
Cowboys on their opening drive, they have a first and
five right now at the Commander's seventeen yard line.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
The Cooper Rush situation is baffling to me.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Yeah, why, I mean, you know what you have in
Cooper Rush. He is a serviceable backup quarterback. You made
a trade to get Trey Lance. You actually gave up
draft capital to get Trey Lance. Why would you not
at this point unless they have some delusion At three
and seven, they're still in the mix for a wild card.
(06:17):
But I mean, at some point don't you have to say,
let's see what we got with this guy.
Speaker 4 (06:22):
Well, it just all depends how embarrassed are you about
Cooper or excuse me about Trey Lance? So you gave
up draft capital for him? Can he play at all?
We don't know the answer that question. Only the offensive
coaches know the answer that question. And also with a
former first round pick and a high first round pick,
(06:42):
is it possible if he doesn't play to convince another
team whose quarterback needed to trade for Trey Lance. You know,
so maybe you could get some of that lost capital
back if he really isn't working out. Look, clearly he
hasn't one field time, Otherwise we would have seen him, because,
like you said, Cooper Rush doesn't look like anything more
than a bridge quarterback at best in this league, if
(07:04):
not just a competent backup. And so if he can't
beat out Cooper Rush, then I mean the writing's on
the wall for Trey Lance. Another example of hey, you know,
it didn't work out in San Francisco, maybe if there's
an opportunity that unveils itself elsewhere with the Dallas Cowboys,
maybe he'll get a chance. It hasn't happened, so it
means it's not happening.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
So it is a time to evaluate your players. Prime
example of this would be the Indianapolis Colts and Anthony Richardson,
who's coming off one of his best games, certainly the
best game of the season last week in that victory
over the Jets. This opening drive already is two for
two and.
Speaker 4 (07:42):
He's looking good. He's actually getting some good things done
with his legs too. They're in the low red zone
right now against the Detroit Lions and on a handoff
they get stuffed at the three yard line for a
no game. But you know, you look at Anthony Richardson,
He's mobile, he's versatile, and when Shane Stikeen in the
offensive play callers there in Indian Apple, when they call
a game that fits his skill set, he actually, he
(08:05):
actually is productive. You just can't have him trailing and
depending on his arm because I don't think he has
it at this level yet. I'm not saying he won't
at any point, but he just hasn't been able to
show that.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
I always think back at the college game. I remember
doing an interview with Urban Meyer when he was at
Ohio State and Tim Tebow was still playing in the
NFL YEP. And I'm like, Tim Tebow's senior year, he
led the nation in passing efficiency. He did led the
nation YEP. And I asked, urban Meyer, how is it
(08:38):
possible that when he was with you for four years,
this guy completed two thirds of his passes sixty six percent.
He goes because I designed an offense to guarantee his
success throwing the football. I remember the Vince Young situation
with Mac Brown. Basically he told Vince Young this, you
got one read. If the receivers open, throw it to him.
(08:59):
I know he can get it too if he's not run.
That's basically it. Yeah, and so this is what I
look like with a guy like Anthony Richardson. If you're
asking him to make kind of throws, then an Aaron
Rodgers can makers.
Speaker 4 (09:10):
And that's ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
That's why going into last week is completing forty four
percent of his passes, which is obviously unheard of in
this day and age. But if you can tailor the
offense to allow him to get success, and then you
feed off that, then you start, you know, bit by bid,
building on that. I think the Ravens did this with
Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 4 (09:30):
They did and it worked. I will say this, Lamar
Jackson in terms of athlete and his comparison to the
rest of athletes in the NFL, there is an edge there,
and that edge goes to Lamar because he is one
of the fastest and most elusive players on the field
at all times. As the Baltimore Ravens starting quarterback Anthony Richardson,
(09:51):
I don't feel is an outstanding of athlete when you
compare him to the pass rushers and the linebackers that
he faces in the NFL. Now, he's good, he's mobile,
and he can do some things. But he's gonna have
to compete on all levels of the football field to
get to a point where he can be trusted to
lead a franchise. Now, all that being said, he's coming
(10:14):
off his best game as a quarterback in his second year,
his last game, snapping that losing streak the Colts were facing.
It was a really good performance. They're going to settle
for a field goal here, a twenty seven yard attempt
that goes through. So the Colts early on lead three
to nothing over the lines.
Speaker 5 (10:32):
All right.
Speaker 2 (10:32):

Straud takes the snap. He's got top of the pocket,
floats one right side, and so cut Stover touchdown.
Speaker 6 (11:17):
Just like that, Texans.
Speaker 7 (11:19):
Take the lead.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
That's the Texans Radio Network, and the Texans now lead
the Tennessee Titans by a score of seven to three.
Once again, this is Red Zone Radio. We are live
from the tire Raq dot com studios. Tampa Bay has
taken an early seven to nothing lead on the road
against the hapless New York Giants. Baker mayfield seven of
(11:42):
eight passing to start this game fifty two yards and
on the first drive for the Giants, Tommy DeVito has
yet to attempt a pass. I don't know if that's
out of fear or what they're doing right now, but
they're just running the ball like the Giants are like
trying to run out the clock, you know, as as
(12:03):
quickly as they can. By the way, they've lost all
five of their.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
Home games this year.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
Can you imagine literally being a New York football fan.
You're a New Yorker, You're born in New York, legendary
high school only lineman ever to win the state Player
of the Year award.
Speaker 4 (12:23):
Are you embarrassed, Steve?
Speaker 8 (12:25):
He did just attempt to pass. He got swallowed immediately
by Klaijahkansi and drilled. But he did attempt to pass, all.
Speaker 6 (12:33):
Right, So again stepped up in the pocket and immediately
should have stepped back.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
Well, I'll tell you, I'll tell you that. Wow, that
was not good. That was and and by the way,
the steepers that is not Tommy the Vita's fault because
he stopped the football. And basically it was like the
lions were unleashed from the zoo and they and and
they just yeah, no, no, not the real ones. I mean yeah,
like the actual animal. Yeah. And he looked like a
(12:58):
gazelle on the prairie.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
By the way, they just showed him on the sideline
taking out this helmet. He looked like he didn't know
where he was.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
Tommy, Tommy DeVito. Look, he gave a little bit of
a spark last year. It was a fun and funny
story around the NFL Tommy Colecutts. But but living with
his parents, this league isn't the wwe you know what
I mean. Legitimate jobs depend on performance, right, So Tommy
(13:24):
DeVito is there to fill a void until the inevitable happens.
This season ends and they'll they'll move on to find
a quarterback who can actually start in the NFL. Wow.
Speaker 6 (13:35):
I just have to ask though about that, because, like
Drew Locke was quarterback two on this on this depth chart.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
Yes, they passed completely over Joe.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
They did because the fans wanted down to Okay, but
the fans, I mean think to Rich's point, the fans
aren't interested or might not be as interested in your
institutional thinking on I think from the outside, Drew Locke
is probably a better quarterback than Tommy DeVito.
Speaker 4 (14:01):
You're thinking about it the wrong way. I'll tell you why. Okay,
because the organization has moved on to next spring. Yeah exactly.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
Is not the future quarterback for the Gibt Neither is
Tommy DeVito. Right, but yeah, but at least he's a
side show that some fans have interest in.
Speaker 4 (14:17):
Of Chris think of it from this standpoint, so you
can get a little bit of friendly publicity out of
New Jersey's own and you can stink and lose a
bunch of games. It is the best case scenario for
the Giants right now because they're preparing for their next draft.
Speaker 6 (14:32):
No, I understand that, and I understand they're going to
get a lot of people from Trenton who want to
come into this game right and really want to be here.
But I think to the point of that, if everyone's
got the jobs in the line, Drew Locke is probably
someone that is a better developmental quarterback than Tommy DeVito
is long.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
Past developmental, is a every tread redread. We learned everything
we need to know about Tommy DeVito last year, and
I love Tommy DeVito. We were in here celebrating Tommy.
You see how you know everything has changed with him
ever since the Lions took off into the stratus here.
Speaker 4 (15:06):
Yes, he is, He's a different man. How am I changed?
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (15:11):
I just you know, when you start talking about Drew
lock being a developmental quarterback, what are you talking about?
Nobody the entire year and suddenly Tommy not Everybody's going to.
Speaker 4 (15:22):
Be the reclamation project that Jared started. He was literally
shipp once you guys round pick with an extra first
round pick, to say, please save us from this nightmare.
Jared goff and did Kimbell went, give me you're tired,
give me your hungry, give me your huddled masses, and
I'll turn them into m VP candidates.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
That's Donald doing great. He's getting a little un nerve
right now because the Colts are moving.
Speaker 3 (15:51):
The ball on the line. I don't care about already
up three nothing in this game.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
So yeah, this is, by the way, Patrick Mahomes seven
to seven, nine four yards in a score. So the
Chiefs lose to the Bills. Not a big surprise last
week on the road. The Bills have had their way
in the regular season. But do you think that that
is a wake up call maybe for the Chiefs because again,
this team was sort of just sliding along finding ways
(16:15):
to win games ugly now that they got that l
on the record. I mean, again, Mahomes red hot against
a bad Panthers team right now, But do you think
now we're gonna see a different Chiefs team after that loss?
Speaker 4 (16:29):
Sometimes a loss can propel a team forward. I think
the Chiefs don't take the regular season as seriously as
they once did, and for good reason. A complacency has
worked for them in the regular season. This is now
two seasons where they have kind of refused to play
good football in the regular season, it seems, and they've
(16:51):
gotten by. Last year, they had a pretty let's just say,
lacklusters start to the season, and they got it together
during this time of year around Thanksgiving time they started
to look like the Chiefs, and then obviously we saw
what happened in the postseason they win it all. This
year is much the same, except they've gotten by with
an even better record, so they're nine to one. I
(17:14):
don't think there's any hurry to get a tremendous amount
better for the Chiefs. They're gonna beat the Carolina Panthers
handily today, I would imagine, and they're going to move
on with their season as such. I do think they're
going to need to turn it on in the postseason,
and we've seen them be able to do that late
in season and into the postseason in years past. But
(17:35):
it absolutely needs to click in for them, because if
they show this kind of effort that we've seen all
season long in the postseason, they're gonna get got. They're
not gonna make it to a super Bowl. They won't
even make it to a super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
All right, So where do you stand right now in
the AFC Power Rankings. Now, we got a Ravens team
that's on the road against a Charger team that actually
has a better record than the Ravens. Right now, that's
a lot of people we would not think that. But
the Chargers is seven to three, Ravens are seven and four. Obviously,
you have the Bills in the mix right now, But
(18:07):
in your AFC Power rankings, where do you stand?
Speaker 4 (18:10):
Well right now? I would argue that the Bills are
probably the scariest team to face because they're the team
that's rolling off a win against the former Super Bowl
champs and were undefeated until they ran into the Bills.
I would also throw into the mix that the Kansas
City Chiefs can't be looked past, so I would see
(18:31):
them high number two or number three. The Ravens are
absolutely in my top five. The Pittsburgh Steelers, Now, was
it a bad loss to the Browns yet it was,
But Tomlin has coached his way into the postseason every year,
and I think if they can maximize what's left of
(18:52):
Russell Wilson with that defense in the running game he's
been sporting, I think that the Pittsburgh Steelers deserve to
be in the top five. So I'll throw a wild
card at you because I'm not as big of a
believer on Houston this season as it was a year ago.
The Denver Broncos have really really impressed me. Them and
the Los Angeles Chargers, Like it's a battle right now
(19:13):
in my brain for who deserves to be in the
top five. Maybe we're talking about six and five and
they're a tie right now, but in my brain, both
of those AFC West teams have done enough to legitimately
scare the rest of the conference.
Speaker 5 (19:26):
Well.
Speaker 2 (19:27):
Uh, look, I was one of the doubters that I'm
never doubt Jim Harbaugh, but I thought it's going to
take a couple of years.
Speaker 4 (19:34):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
I mean, this is a mess that he has inherited.
This is a team that won five games last year.
The fact that they've turned this around as quickly as
they have, especially on the defensive side of the football.
And you know that game against the Bengals last week,
again when we talk about the way win games can
really help you moving forward. So they're blowing out the
Bengals in the first half and then all of a sudden,
(19:56):
Joe Burrow three straight touchdowns and it's a tie.
Speaker 4 (19:59):
Game.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
The fact that the Chargers avoided the Chargery thing to do,
which was, you know, blow a big lead, walk away
a loser. They found a way to win that game,
I think really moves this team forward. And by the way,
this week, Jim Harbaugh in his praise of his quarterback
went next level.
Speaker 4 (20:19):
Of course he did. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (20:19):
Now he's saying that a quarterback who has never won
a playoff game is one of the greatest quarterbacks in
the history of the National Football League.
Speaker 4 (20:30):
M hm.
Speaker 2 (20:30):
But it might be working because obviously they're getting things together.
This Charger team, to me is the big question mark.
He's torn a page out of his brother John's book Who.
By the way, he faces today in Los Angeles Baltimore
Ravens being hosted by the Chargers. Baltimore Ravens narrow favorites
in this game on the road, and the arrow is
pointing in one direction for one franchise and the opposite
(20:54):
for the other.
Speaker 4 (20:54):
I feel like the Chargers, it feels like they're flowing
right now. Things are coming to them a little bit
easier at this point in the season than have earlier
on And I feel like the Baltimore Ravens losing two
of their last four appointments. They're struggling a little bit.
They've lost their way a little bit. But John Harbaugh,
if you remember in the preseason, he was talking about
(21:17):
Lamar Jackson like he was the resurrection of our savior. Yeah,
he was legitimately saying that he is going to win
multiple MVPs, He's going to win multiple Super Bowls. His
belief in his he's having dreams that night about his quarterback.
So this is very much the Harbor way. We are
going to love up on our quarterback. We're gonna make
(21:38):
it so he feels like he's the centerpiece of everything
that happens in my life, in our organization, and have
the team's belief in that quarterback be the same. So thereby,
you know, if you have a talented enough guy at
quarterback and everybody believes in him, you could get some
special things done. He did it with JJ McCarthy and
the Michigan Wolverines. Look, anybody outside the could say, hey,
(22:00):
there are some blemishes on JJ McCarthy's game, but when
they needed him to be transcendent in certain wins, he
got the job done for Michigan. He was clutch, and
that's all that John and Jim Harbaugh want out of
their quarterbacks at this level.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
Jim Harbaugh master in the locker room, no question about that.
This guy is proven it once again. Let's find out
what's trending right now. And moncey, uh, what happened to
the burritos?
Speaker 4 (22:25):
She brings me in burritos every morning, which Monsey, what
there are two of them. I want to let you
know that as soon as you want to say goodbye
to the burrito breakfast on these Sundays, you could do it.
I won't even comment on it. I won't even say, Manci,
where's my burritos. I won't even act surprise. I'll just
pretend like it never happened, because this is a fever dream.
(22:46):
I walked in here, I devoured two burritos before I
even knew what happened.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
Well, first of all, how he did it was amazing.
So Mike Harmon was in studio talking with Rich all
the way until the opening of the show, and I
saw the burritos still sitting there because obviously he was
talking right, and then I look up and they're gone.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
Well, it's a it's while we're on the age.
Speaker 9 (23:05):
It's a skill it's a skill.
Speaker 4 (23:07):
Actually, in between my dissections, my dissertation Wow of the
New York Giants' Future with Chris which took seven or
eight minutes and much to the chagrin of our listening audience.
Speaker 7 (23:21):
Well, I just want to make sure we're all said,
we're all fed and happy as we talk, you know, NFL,
because who doesn't want.
Speaker 9 (23:27):
To be fed? If we would be at home watching
these games, we'd be eating. So you know, let's be
real here.
Speaker 7 (23:33):
Seven games going on right now to continue Week twelve.
Pretty much, they're all late in the first quarter except
for the Vikings and the Bears. Still five and a
half minutes to go on this one. The Vikings are
used to creating turnovers. This time they turned over the
ball and they're opening drive. Jonathan Owens, Simone Biles's husband,
stripped the ball from Aaron Jones on their opening drive
(23:54):
on the two yard line. Vikings and Bears are scoreless
again five and a half minutes to go. The rest
are pretty much ending the first quarter or late. The
Lions on their opening drive they punted. I don't even
know if they've done that all season, but that's what
they did. Colts are up on Detroit three zero, but
Detroit does have the ball.
Speaker 9 (24:10):
They are at.
Speaker 7 (24:10):
Indiana's thirty three yard line to start the second quarter.
The Patriots and the Dolphins are scoreless after the first
Buccaneers beating the Giants Sean Tucker with the rushing touchdown
seven zero, literally ending the first as we speak, the Commanders.
I hate this because he's on my fantasy team. Running
back Brian Robinson Junior has an ankle injury. He's questionable
to return, so that might be exactly what the Cowboys need,
(24:33):
who literally don't have anyone to stop the run. They
don't have anyone to do the run, but Brian Robinson Jr. Questionable.
Commanders are up three zero against the Cowboys. The Chiefs
are beating the Panthers ten to three. Patrick Mahomes connecting
with Noah grayfer a thirty five yard touchdown pass getting
things going, and the Titans have taken the lead. While
this just happened over the Texans, it's ten to seven,
(24:54):
two minutes.
Speaker 9 (24:55):
To go in the first quarter of that one. Lindsey Theory,
I think that's how she'sa is her name of ESPN.
Speaker 7 (25:01):
Apparently she she had a tweet out so ESPN retweeted it,
but that Puka Akua did not know that the Rams
were in the division they're in, why until right now,
until week twelve of a second year.
Speaker 9 (25:13):
Apparently he just found out what division.
Speaker 4 (25:16):
Just found out he plays in the NFC West.
Speaker 7 (25:17):
Apparently that's a tweet that And then she was like,
it's all right, he's taking care of other things, but
he's good. So I try to look more into it.
She must have said it somewhere, so somebody tweeted it.
Speaker 4 (25:27):
The next tweet is gonna say, Pookaua is in the
concussion protol exactly good.
Speaker 7 (25:33):
Yeah, but she she definitely didn't deny when he was
tweeted at her.
Speaker 9 (25:37):
But that's kind of kind of funny.
Speaker 4 (25:40):
Oh.
Speaker 7 (25:40):
Great, Brian Robinson JUNR is back, so good for my
fantasy team.
Speaker 9 (25:43):
Back to you.
Speaker 3 (25:44):
Guys, all right, Montsi, thank you very much.
Speaker 2 (25:46):
All right, Well, you were speaking about the NFC West,
which apparently Pooka Nakua now found out. The Rams are
in another big game a little bit later on in
the NFC West, the Arizona Cardinals on the road against
the Seattle Seahawks.
Speaker 3 (25:58):
Johnny's right now.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
The man that will be on the hall for Fox
Adam Amine is joining us once again. Adam, first question
to you, just a very straightforward question.
Speaker 3 (26:07):
Are the Cardinals for real?
Speaker 1 (26:11):
Man?
Speaker 5 (26:11):
That is a very straightforward and honest question. And it's
difficult to have an answer because you know how it
is every single week, right, the narratives change and shift
and change direction depending on the result of the latest game.
But here's where I think they are for real. I
think Kyler Murray is for real. And we had them
early in the season and my partner Mark Sanchez made
(26:33):
a various student what I thought was very a student observation.
Kyler is at the point in his career now, well
what he's seventy five starts in through his regular season career,
so maasical he's made light around eighty starts. Right, he
is still at a very physically capable and you could
even argue gifted portion of his athletic life. So every
(26:57):
quarterback wants to get to that point where they have
a lot of experience. They understand the league, they understand
their divisional opponents, they understand what is you know, necessary
of them on a week to week basis to be
successful in the NFL. They're better at reading defenses they've
seen more coverages, they've seen more blitzes. They understand where
pressure comes from and how coaches and tendencies work and
(27:19):
how coaches want to attack them when they're at quarterback.
And he's still gifted enough physically to move around make guys.
Miss still has that flick of the risk sixty yard
ability to throw down the field, and those two things,
the mental acuity, the IQ for the game, and the
physicality that he plays with and his physical toolbox. All
(27:42):
of these things that are are a very high level
and they're all kind of coming together at the same time.
So for that reason, along with good offensive line, very
good running back Marvin Harrison is growing into a very
good receiver. He's got weapons, got a very good tight end.
Like because of these things, I think Kyler Murray makes
jem for real. And you have to have a quarterback
in this league to be considered for real. So for
(28:04):
that reason, I would say, yes, the Arizona Cardinals are
for real.
Speaker 4 (28:08):
Back in twenty twenty two, Jonathan Gannon was the defensive
coordinator with a super Bowl Philadelphia Eagles team. He was
given the head coaching job that offseason and ended up
in Arizona and it felt a little clunky. Maybe he
was a little unpolished as a speaker in front of
the camera, but he had a tough Arizona Cardinals team.
I feel like any team that faced the Cardinals realized
(28:31):
that something was growing there, a culture of toughness. I
really appreciated how hard they played all the way throughout
that season, But a lot of people made Gannon the
butt of their jokes. Now he has six wins, that's
two more than last season. The arrows pointing up for
the Cardinals. I mean, is he the next Dan Campbell?
(28:51):
I mean, are we seeing something happen similar in Arizona
that happened in Detroit with a quarterback that a lot
of people wrote off.
Speaker 5 (29:00):
I will say, I don't know if I want to
make a Dan Campbell comparison. I don't know if that's
fair because I think what Dan has done has taken
time and patience, and it's such a meteoric jump for
a franchise that frankly has needed it as well. Remember
you got You also have to take into consideration the
story of Detroit right almost thirty years, basically thirty three
(29:20):
decades of futility. They haven't won a title since fifty seven.
And I know the Cardinals have never won a title,
but they've had successes at various points in this century alone.
But as you were describing it, it was the first
thing that came to my head was, well, people made
fun of Dan Campbell, made fun of his additive we're
going to bite your kneecats the first press conference, maybe
(29:42):
said some things that you know threw people off, and listen,
can you really take head coaches to be wonderful public
speakers at all times? No, because they have other things
to focus on, much like Whoknakua not knowing what the
vision the rams are in. I think these guys have
other things to focus done. So maybe that's not at
the top of their priority list, and that's okay. I
(30:04):
don't expect that of them on a consistent basis. What
I do expect of them is for them to be
able to clearly communicate what their vision is, what their
goals are, not only for us when we come in
from meetings and we want to know what the state
of the union is for a particular team, but to
be able to communicate things very clearly to the people
that are out there playing and any time I've had
(30:26):
an interaction with Jonathan Dannon going back to when he
was a Philadelphia defensive coordinator to now lis the Arizona
head coach. He clearly communicates things. I think if you
talk ball with him, he has a clear and distinct
idea of how he wants his team to play, how
they're going to execute, or what their goal is in
terms of execution, what their thought processes, what his thought
(30:47):
process is on how they're going to achieve certain goals.
So I give him a lot of credit for that.
You know, in front of cameras, everybody's a little bit different.
You know, coaches are always a little bit different in
part of the camera than they are when we get
a chance to get some proprietary access to them on
these football weekend So I appreciate that if you want
(31:10):
to make that connection to Campbell, the game and connection,
I think what is clearly obvious about the two of
them being together in the same conversation is how they
clearly communicate the ideas and their vision to the guys
that are out there trying to execute on a week
to week basis all right.
Speaker 2 (31:26):
One final thing, Adam obviously another coach head coach with
a pedigree in defense. Mike McDonald, he comes to Seattle,
they win three in a row to start the season,
they lose five out of six, then they get the
big road win last week against the forty nine ers.
But I'm trying to search for an identity of where
this franchise is going right now. I guess what's been
(31:47):
popping out is the fact that they throw the ball
more than any other team in the league. But how
would you characterize the personality of this Seahawks team under
the tutelage of Mike McDonald.
Speaker 4 (31:59):
I agree with you.
Speaker 5 (32:00):
I think they're still trying to find it. They're still
seeking it. They want to figure out what they are,
and it's easier to look at the offensive end. I
would say that, yeah, Gino's throwing the ball the lots.
You know, they're a low play action team. That's a
major change from where they were, you know, for the
decade and a half when Pete Carroll was here. They
were run first, drop back, work off, play action, try
to suck defenses in, maybe get a few shots down field.
(32:22):
But they wanted to grind it out and now this
is a sling it all over the field type of
team with you know, three very talented receivers and all that,
but I think they want to get back to being
able to establish the run game a little bit. Tennant
Walker is a very talented running back, but he hasn't
had a lot of consistency in front of him. On
the offensive line. They've had to shuffle at center, They've
had the revolving door at right tackle. So now I
(32:44):
think that they've had a little bit of consistency for
a couple of weeks. We saw it last week in
the second half. They got a lot better offensively as
the game went on. I think that's the identity that
they would like to implement and what we saw in
Baltimore High takeaway team, right. They want to force you
into bad throws, Aaron throws. They want to punch the
ball loose from running backs and receivers when they have
(33:04):
a ball in space. They want to be a great
tackling team. They haven't gotten to that point yet. Do
I think they can get to those points? Yeah, because
they have enough balance to do so, and I think
the philosophy of a Mike McDonald is eventually going to
help get them there. But until they get to that point,
you know, they're still seeking what I think their identity
is going to be. I don't think opponents two into
Seattle week the week and go, well, we know what
(33:25):
we're in for. I still think they're trying to find it,
and I think they're going to have to get some
some have some patience in Seattle for McDonald and company
as they still seek that and try to get a
little bit of traction on both sides of the ball.
Speaker 2 (33:36):
Yeah, big match up in the wide open NFC West
Arizona at Seattle. Adam, we always appreciate the time, enjoy
the game, and say hi to our buddy Mark Santez for.
Speaker 5 (33:45):
US, Mark Sanchez. They're saying hi to you, buddy. He says,
how we're doing, give you a nice little smile as
he always does. We'll see in a little bit, guys.
Speaker 3 (33:52):
All right, Adam, thanks so much.
Speaker 2 (33:53):
There is Adam Amen there on that and again trying
to predict who's going to win that NFC wes is Well,
we'll get into that a little bit.
Speaker 4 (34:01):
All right.
Speaker 2 (34:01):
We're going to get back to everything happening around the
National Football League.
Speaker 3 (34:05):
Seven games going on right now. For all the latest,
keep it here.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
This is Red Zone Radio Shared takes hands it kids
left side.
Speaker 4 (34:13):
Catch it up to the end zone, touchdown Detroit Lyons
patient running by Gibbs that time. A couple of Colts.
Speaker 2 (34:21):
Defenders out there waiting for his blocking.
Speaker 4 (34:23):
Got it found the house.
Speaker 2 (34:25):
That's ninety seven one that taken Ryan's radio network, and
the Lions have a seven to six lead right now
over the Colts, who just got a field goal. Once again.
This is the red zone radio. Steve Hartman and Rich
Ornberger with you. We're live from the tire rag dot
com studios. All right, let's run down the scoreboard right now.
The Vikings just scored on a Sam Darnold touchdown pass
(34:45):
to Jordan Addison. Seven to seven Vikings and Bears. These
are all second quarter scores right now. He mentioned the
Lions over the Colts seven to six, Dolphins with the
seven to ehing lead and the ball in the red
zone over the Patriots. Buccaneer's early ten to nothing lead
against the hapless Giants, Cowboys trailing the Commanders three to
(35:06):
nothing that game early in the second quarter, Chiefs have
a ten to six lead down the road against the Pathers.
And how about this Texans after a seven to nothing
lead are now trailing the Titans seventeen to seven. Will
Levis is nine for nine, one hundred and fifty nine
yards in a touchdown.
Speaker 4 (35:25):
Yeah, that is probably the most shocking revelation of the day.
Will Levis, though again, he has moments where you look
at him when you watch him against talented competition and
you say, WHOA, this guy can really play. The problem
is it's really just flashes, because what happens on sometimes
consecutive drives is he looks like an all pro quarterback
(35:46):
and then the very next time he touches the field
he throws an inexplicable interception. So he needs to get
more consistent if he's ever going to be the future
of the franchise. And to his credit the end of
last season, he did just enough to convinced the new
regime that they should take another chance on him. Could
he do it again? Could he pull another rabbit out
of his hat and have a strong finish with the Titans?
(36:08):
Stay tuned, folks.
Speaker 2 (36:09):
Well, right now the Houston Texans are unraveling. They've given
up two hundred and seventeen yards of the Tennessee Titans
and we got eleven mins to go on the first
hat Texons are struggling and they only have forty nine
total yards right now.
Speaker 4 (36:22):
They have no ground game.
Speaker 3 (36:23):
Joe Mixon two carries five yards.
Speaker 4 (36:25):
CJ.
Speaker 2 (36:25):
Shrouds six of h us thirty seven yards passing. Are
they gonna hang on? What's going on with this Houston
Texans team?
Speaker 4 (36:33):
Okay, So they definitely took out their frustrations after losing
three or four heading into the Cowboys by putting together
one of the most impressive wins of the year.
Speaker 3 (36:44):
So, but how impressive is it to beat the Cowboys?
Speaker 4 (36:47):
Everything was clicking, and it doesn't matter who you play
against when everything is clicking. Those are professional football players
on the other side of the field, and the Dallas Cowboys,
even though they're struggling, anybody can beat any in this league.
So when you see a dominant win, it doesn't matter
who you have a dominant win against in this league,
it impresses me. So that did impress me. However, you
(37:08):
would assume a little bit of that momentum would have
carried them into this game against Tennessee, and it really hasn't.
It really really hasn't. So I look, whatever secret sauce
to Miko Ryans had last year or whatever whatever CJ.
Stroud was able to capture in his rookie season as
(37:29):
a starting quarterback. They need to find that again otherwise.
I mean, I'm not gonna say they're not gonna win
the AFC South because I don't see I don't see
the Colts as being a real problem unless Anthony Richardson
can turn it around completely for them. But they've got
some things to figure out in Houston that it's not
looking the way it did last year.
Speaker 2 (37:51):
Yeah, you look at some of these divisions right now.
Rich and we were talking about the NFC West a
little bit earlier as just a logjam there. But the
Colts are too gained behind the Texans to start the day,
and the Colts, obviously, excuse me, have a tough test today.
I want to get to the NFC South though, and
the Buccaneers. Yeah, the Falcons are all of a sudden
(38:12):
taking on water.
Speaker 3 (38:13):
Yeah yeah, yeah, I mean they got.
Speaker 2 (38:15):
Blown out by Denver, blown out by Bo Nixon company.
Speaker 3 (38:20):
Who do you think is going to come out of
that NFC South?
Speaker 4 (38:22):
I really do feel like so the margin between the
Buccaneers and the Falcons, I feel is much closer, even
though it's the exact number of games than it is
between the Colts and the Houston Texans. The Texans to
me are a superior team than the Culture Right now,
when I look at the Falcons, do I really feel
like they're a much more superior team than the Buccaneers.
Speaker 7 (38:43):
No.
Speaker 4 (38:43):
If you look at a lot of the Buccaneers losses,
they were really close losses, Like the Bucks are a
pretty good franchise. So I think the NFC South is
up for grabs. Between those two teams, I would say
Kirk Cousins and the Dirty Birds, they've got a lot
to worry about in the rear view.
Speaker 2 (39:00):
All right right now watching the Bears and the Vikings,
and you know the Vikings come in eight and two.
We've been talking about this after their hot start, about
Sam Darnell, whether or not it could hold it together
and you maintain a certain pace over the course.
Speaker 4 (39:15):
Of the year.
Speaker 2 (39:15):
I really like the Bears in this game at home.
I know it's easy to dismiss the Bears right now.
They've had some hiccups over the last few weeks. Obviously
they made a change in offensive coordinator. But I just
had a sense about this game today it's going to
be competitive it's a division game, of course, obviously he
sort of throw out the stats at anytime you have
a division game.
Speaker 4 (39:37):
But I don't think.
Speaker 2 (39:38):
The highlights for the Bears this season are over yet.
Speaker 4 (39:42):
I don't either. I think Caleb Williams has shown a
propensity to make some leaps, some quantum leaps. As any
learning curve goes. It's not just peaks. There's also valleys
mixed in there too, and we're seeing him create with
his legs, something that he was comfortable doing at USC
and he's doing it already today against the Vikings.
Speaker 2 (40:00):
All right, seven games heading toward halftime, we're all over it.
Keep it right here for all the latest updates. This
is Red Zone Radio.
Speaker 10 (40:08):
Jalen butfell in the motion to the lifted hands the
ball up to her and cut it touchtop Tampa Bay
because of lightning. Bucky Irvin scores a touchdown for Tampa
Bay and we take a sixteen to nothing lead.
Speaker 2 (40:21):
That's ninety eight Rock Buccaneers Radio network, and the Buccaneers
are beating up on the hapless New York Giants seventeen
and nothing, four minutes to go in the first half
in that game. This is a Red Zone Radio we're
broadcasting live from the tire rag dot com studios.
Speaker 3 (40:35):
Tire rag dot com. We're gonna help get you there.
Speaker 2 (40:37):
I'm Matt Selection fast Reach Shippy free road has a
protection over ten thousand recommended installers. Tire rack dot com
the way tire buying should be. The Bears dis missed
a field goal, so there's some time with the bike.
Speaker 4 (40:51):
Oh wow, Yeah, that's the second week in a row.
The Vikings block the Bears attempt, so it's still It's
still seven all in Chicago right now.
Speaker 2 (41:00):
The Commanders are struggling, so they're playing the Cowboys. We
got eight minutes to go in the first half, and
Jayden Daniels is five of eleven for twenty one yards
oof against that Cowboy defense. He's being outplayed by Cooper Rush.
Cowboys are trailing three to nothing, and this is another player.
(41:21):
When we talk about a rookie like Jayden Daniels, teams
start scouting you. They are looking for you certain tendencies
in your game. They start taking things away from you,
and then it's up to you to make the adjustments.
What are your thoughts about this Commander's team? Can they
hold up or are they gonna fall? By the waistide
here in the second half of the season.
Speaker 4 (41:42):
Yeah, look after dropping their last two and the last
time we saw them play with Thursday night, they're gonna
be rested heading into this matchup for the Cowboys, and
you would assume ready and reinvigorated to put a whooping
on on a division rival who's struggling right now. But again,
(42:03):
the same way I was talking about the Houston Texans
win over the Cowboys. This is a professional football team
and it's filled with motivated players, alpha males who are
out there looking for wins and looking for individual creditation
creditations for their future on the team if there is
a regime change or in this league. So I get it.
(42:25):
Sometimes we sit there and we say, oh, the Dallas
Cowboys are going nowhere? You know this and that, Well,
how about my Zimmer is still coaching for his life.
It's not like he's gonna give up on the season.
So he's gonna put together a great game plan against
the Commanders. And by the way, after losing too straight,
there is you know, some weaknesses in that armor in Washington,
(42:46):
and there's ways to exploit their rookie quarterback. And the
Cowboys right now are pulling all the right strings, all right.
Speaker 2 (42:53):
So there was you know, these wild rumors about Dion
Sanders and the Cowboys that hold no water.
Speaker 4 (42:58):
I mean, it doesn't make any sense.
Speaker 2 (43:00):
It doesn't make any sense from the Cowboys standpoint, it
doesn't make any sense from Dion's standpoint. That was an
ugly loss, by the way for Colorado yesterday against Kansas.
Speaker 4 (43:09):
Did you see that game?
Speaker 2 (43:10):
Kansas ran for over three hundred yards, and Dion's like,
you give up three hundred and thirty yards rushing, you're
not going to beat anybody. He was not happy with
his team after that loss probably cost him a chance,
any chance he might have had of getting into the
postseason playoff. But you know, the idea that he would
follow his son Shador Sanders has had one coach his
(43:31):
entire life, from youth football all the way through the
college ranks. His dad has been his only coach, whatever
team ends up. I mean, let's talk about the Giants. Sure,
And you know I mentioned this a couple of times
that Jerry Jones has hired eight coaches and they're all white.
The other long standing team in the National Football League
(43:52):
that's never had an African American coach is the New
York Giants if they get the number one pick in
the draft and they draft Shador Sanders. Ay, do you
think they would be interested in hiring Dion Sanders? And
b would that be a job? If you're Deon Sanders,
you would want to take well taking the.
Speaker 4 (44:14):
Question about the racial identity of the head coach out
of the question or out of the conversation, just because
I think Dion Sanders has proved something at Colorado this
year that has proven a lot of people wrong. I mean,
Deon Sanders built a culture. I agree, hate him or
love him, He built a culture. They are a much
(44:34):
more successful football team this year than they were a
year ago. This team has learned how to put away opponents.
They didn't know how to do that a year ago.
Shodoor Sanders looks better. So he's developed his son, his quarterback,
into a better and better football player every year. He
is obviously a candidate to win the Heisman this year
for good reason. And by the way, he has developed
(44:56):
another Heisman candidate who shares the same roster. So he
is a good coach. I mean, there's no question that.
Does he do everything agreeable to everybody?
Speaker 5 (45:06):
No?
Speaker 4 (45:07):
Is he shaking things up a little bit. Yeah, did
I think that this would be a successful run with
the Buffs. No, So he's changed my mind about a
lot of things. And so credit to where credit's due,
Deon Sanders has done it. Getting back to the Giants
and the identities of their coaches and whether or not
they hire a black coach or a white coach, I
(45:28):
don't know if that gets factored in. If you want
Shador Sanders, you're probably gonna have to hire Deon Sanders. Yes,
and that is the bottom line. So if the Giants
need a quarterback and they're interested in Shador, I think
it's going to be a package deal. I can't see
this going any differently. I don't think Deon Sanders took
the job at Colorado because he loves the Great State
of I don't think he took the job at Colorado
(45:50):
because he's been a fan of Boulder his whole life.
I don't think he took the job at Colorado.
Speaker 2 (45:55):
He did get a commitment from what many people think
is the number one high school quarterback in the country.
Speaker 4 (46:01):
And guess what, that guy will either stick with the
Buffs in their next head coach, or will transfer or
change his commitment. If Dion's not there anymore, I can
promise you that here's the deal. Deon Sanders is gone
after this season. If Shadoor is next team, which will
be a professional team, will hire him. And I don't
blame him for that. And I also don't blame whatever
(46:23):
team is interested in Shador and potentially Deon Sanders for
doing that. And it very well could be the New
York Chick. Again.
Speaker 3 (46:29):
My point is the Cowboys really don't have a chance
at Shadoor Sanders.
Speaker 4 (46:32):
No, no, no, well they just can't. Yeah, but I
look at the Giants as a team.
Speaker 2 (46:37):
I think that does have a serious opportunity to get
Shadoor Sanders. And if anyone could handle the bright lights
of New York, it would be Deon Sanders.
Speaker 4 (46:47):
You can make that argument. I mean, there's other teams
around the league, Like, let's see what happens with the
other New York team. I mean the Jets. They've already fired.
Speaker 2 (46:57):
Their head coach, yes, and their general manager. Rogers really
brought some good luck to those guys, did he not.
Aaron Rodgers is on his way out. I mean, the
sources says he's playing in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 4 (47:07):
Yeah, but saying that you're playing in twenty twenty five
is not a commitment to the team you're playing with.
Speaker 10 (47:13):
That is.
Speaker 4 (47:14):
Those are two very different things. If you say, hey,
I'm gonna be I'm going to be playing football in
twenty twenty five, well good on you for who.
Speaker 5 (47:23):
You know.
Speaker 4 (47:24):
So so those are two very different things. But I
could see I could see that. I mean, who knows.
I mean maybe Jacksonville. Well they just paid Trevor Lawrence.
Speaker 3 (47:33):
That doesn't make Oh, they're not gonna do that, Chris,
he wanted to make a comment here.
Speaker 6 (47:37):
Yes, So I'm keeping an eye on this Commander's Cowboys game.
And we had an interesting situation where there have been
so there's been five drives for the Cowboys, all non scoring,
but they've ended in different ways punt, fumble, missed field goal,
blockfield goal, and I believe this last punt by the
Cowboys was partially blocked as well. We're kind of hoping
(47:58):
for an interception to really round out the royal flush,
but I think we'll take it.
Speaker 4 (48:02):
Yeah, that you are? You just uh, I think I
have bingo. I think yeah, that's a bingle. I think
I think I got all five squares. That is amazing.
Look when you when when you have a head coach
like Mike McCarthy who wasn't given a contract extension at
the start of this season, you you smelled it. There
was the scent of disaster.
Speaker 3 (48:22):
I didn't smell it. I had the Cowboys winning the
Super Bowl this year.
Speaker 4 (48:25):
I know you had a clog nose that week. Yeah,
yeah you could. I mean, I don't know, maybe not you,
but I felt like there was a waft of disaster
floating through the air in Dallas, and it has come
to fruition. You could be as talented as you want.
If the guy who everybody's supposed to listen to has
one foot out the door and the other one on
a banana peel, how can you take him seriously? If
(48:47):
Jerry Jones, the owner of the franchise, is basically saying
to the roster, I don't take this guy seriously, how
could the rest of the roster take this guy seriously?
Speaker 8 (48:55):
We hit our we hit our royal flush. If we
add the commander's drive to it, because dangerous throw a pick.
Speaker 4 (49:00):
I'm pretty sure they dee yards from punks down. I'll
tell you right now. Yeah. So, even though it was blocked,
they have now gained yards and it was a defensive lineman.
This is outrageous.
Speaker 2 (49:12):
Okay, the next way the Cowboys can end this drive
without scoring intersect hasn't happen.
Speaker 4 (49:21):
But if we if we count the Commanders, we win,
we go, we go. Ticket in time. Maybe Dallas could
get a safety.
Speaker 6 (49:30):
All the way back there for this is almost midfield.
But hey, never say never weird things about.
Speaker 4 (49:35):
That center has a cannon for an arm.
Speaker 2 (49:36):
Anything's possible, all right, Vikings after a review, get the
touchdown pass uh Donald to Nayla. That's Sam Darnold's second
touchdown pass of the day. Vikings have a fourteen to
seven lead on the road against the Bears. Texans get
a touchdown back Will Levis still has not thrown an
incomplete pass. All right, He's eleven of eleven hundred and
seventy seven yards and a touchdown for the Titans.
Speaker 4 (49:59):
Looking for the ups on the road.
Speaker 2 (50:00):
All right, we continue on, heading to halftime around the
NFL's seven games.
Speaker 4 (50:04):
This is red zone radio.
Speaker 6 (50:06):
Darnold looking left, rowing left tend is caught by Jalen
Nayler at the one.
Speaker 4 (50:10):
Raaches for the end zone.
Speaker 2 (50:12):
Touchdown of Vikings have taken up thirteen seven lead.
Speaker 4 (50:17):
That's a high five for Jaalen Naylor.
Speaker 2 (50:21):
That's Kate fan one hundred point three Vikings Radio Network.
Vikings lead the Bears fourteen to seven, a game nearing halftime.
Speaker 3 (50:28):
Once again, this is Red Zone Radio.
Speaker 2 (50:30):
Steve Hartman Rich Ornberger with you were live from the
tire rack dot Com studios.
Speaker 4 (50:35):
Halftime.
Speaker 2 (50:35):
Now, Lions lead the Coldspy a score of fourteen to six.
Jared Goff ten to thirteen, one hundred and eleven yards,
no touchdowns and no picks.
Speaker 3 (50:47):
They got nice balance with their running game.
Speaker 4 (50:48):
How about this?
Speaker 2 (50:49):
David Montgomery seven carries thirty nine yards in a score.
Jamier Gibbs eight carries thirty yards and a score. Almost
identical numbers for their two running backs. Anthony Richardson has
not been terrible seven and fourteen, still struggling with his
accuracy one hundred and seventeen yards. He has run for
thirty six yards. Where's Jared Goff right now in your MVP.
Speaker 5 (51:15):
List?
Speaker 4 (51:16):
He's pretty high. Jared Goff's pretty high. I thought the
bounce back game after the five interception was unbelievably impressive.
Jared Goffic perfect passer Rady, Jared Goff is one of
those players who I think, similarly to say Jim Harbaugh
the way he talks about Justin Herbert, and similarly to
(51:36):
how John Harbaugh talks about Lamar. When you hear Dan
Campbell talk about Jared Goff and what he means to
this football team, he lauds his efforts, he lauds his leadership,
his attention to detail, and you could see it show
up when they need him. Now, have there been blow
up games for every great quarterback? Of course, Drew Brees
had him, Paining Manning had them. You know every quarterback
(51:59):
has them. Patrick Mahomes has him. Jared Goff had won
this season, and I think he's on track to be.
But he won that game. He won that game. He
came back to win that game. And that's the thing
about having a team that's in the fight with you.
I think there's a huge amount of belief around Jared
Goff in Detroit, and for good reason, because when they've
needed him to step up, he's been that guy. Now,
(52:20):
he can't have too many of those games and he hasn't.
Fortunately for the Detroit Lions, he obviously would not be
able to withstand another one of those games to still
be in the MVP conversation. But for me, he's very
much so in the thick of it because he's one
of the best quarterbacks in the league this year and
he's playing for the best team in the league this year.
Speaker 2 (52:38):
All Right, we have a couple of blowouts brewing right now,
the Dolphins all over the Patriots twenty one to nothing,
to a tongue of I looa seventeen of twenty one,
one hundred and ninety one yards, three touchdown passes. So
he and by the way, none of those touchdown passes
or to Tyreek Hill and Jalen Waddle. Yeah, well a
(53:01):
Chan has got two touchdown receptions.
Speaker 4 (53:04):
I was gonna say one or two of them went
to a Chan because I've seen him in the end
zone multiple times.
Speaker 2 (53:08):
But Tyreek Hill, what has happened in Tyreek Hill? Two
catches ten yards?
Speaker 4 (53:12):
Yeah, it's a look.
Speaker 3 (53:14):
I mean, you're talking about a Hall of Fame wide
receiver here.
Speaker 4 (53:16):
It's it's it's a track, right, you know. And it's
again like we talked about with quarterbacks, there's peaks and valleys.
You know, you hope over the course of a career
that like the stock market, even though you see peak
times and valley times like it's going to trend upward
for the most part, right, And so over the course
(53:37):
of Tyreek's career, he's been an incredible contributor and he
has been a massively individually successful player. But this year
has been a little bit of a quiet year, a
down year for Tyreek and and a part of that
is because his starting quarterback was injured for a good
portion of this season. To a tongue of ilo, may
not be the best athlete, he may not be the
(53:58):
best quarterback or one of the best quarterbacks in the league.
He's certainly not in that top five, you know, conversation,
he kind of rounds out the bottom ten, or I
should say the top ten when you're talking about the
ten best quarterbacks in the league. You know, he's twelve,
he's thirteen, he's ten, depending on what year you're talking about.
But he is accurate. He gets the football to the
(54:20):
player who needs to get the football on most passing plays.
And with that, I mean Tyreek Hill has had a
lot of success and he was playing with one of
the more accurate quarterbacks in the league through the first
years of his successful times with Patrick Mahomes, so he
needs a capable quarterback to put up the sort of
gaudy numbers we saw from him for example a year ago.
Speaker 3 (54:41):
Well, I'm sure he's saying too, you remember me, I'm
the guy Tyrek.
Speaker 4 (54:44):
Yeah, yeah, that's right.
Speaker 2 (54:45):
Another blowout halftime Bucks twenty three, Giants nothing. The only
good news for the Giants here is the Bucks missed
the extra point after the last touchdown. Baker Mayfield nineteen
to twenty three, two hundred.
Speaker 4 (54:56):
And thirty yards.
Speaker 2 (54:58):
Huge bounce back game for the bu Tommy DeVito go
ahead three of five thirty one yards. They have ten
yards net passing thirty five yards rushing total yards at
a half time.
Speaker 3 (55:09):
Buccaneers two ninety the Giants forty five.
Speaker 4 (55:12):
Look, the plan is working because we covered this probably
at more length than we should have earlier in the show.
But Tommy DeVito is not going to win you very
many football games. And that's the idea. And that's the idea. Look,
even though you say, well, why would any coach want
a tank? They don't. They don't, but an owner does,
because guess who's gonna be there even if coaches get fired,
(55:34):
Even if general managers get fired, even if you know
every single person in the building will eventually get fired
except for the owner. The owner's not going to fire himself.
So if you want a chance at having one of
the best players in football college football come into your
system and maybe even bring his father along with him
to be your next head coach, keep doing stuff like this.
(55:55):
Get your doors blown off by the Buccaneers. All right.
Speaker 2 (55:58):
So the Giants right now sit alone at the bottom
of the NFC at two and eight, and then you
look at the two win teams in the AFC. The
Jaguars are not looking for a quarterback. They're at two
and nine right now. The Titans would be looking for
a quarterback. And then you got the Raiders. Yes, the
Tom Brady impact on that organization.
Speaker 4 (56:21):
Tom Brady can have an impact.
Speaker 2 (56:23):
Okay, so explain this to us because the Raiders, obviously
the Antonio Piers hiring has not worked the way they
hoped it was going to work. You know, the players
like him, but they're not playing for him, you know
what I mean. Yeah, and they're a little void of
talent to.
Speaker 4 (56:39):
Say the least. But that's bet that's before Tom Yeah, exactly, all.
Speaker 2 (56:44):
Right, So if you're Tom Brady and let's say the
Raiders are sitting there with a number one pick, you
think Tom Brady would be heads up with the idea
of getting a Shader Sanders Dion Sanders package into Las Vegas.
Speaker 4 (57:01):
I don't know, and I don't think anybody really knows.
And I'm not even one hundred percent sure with his
broadcast contract and the agreement he signed as a minority
owner in the NFL, if he can really speak publicly
about it, no, he will not, absolutely so, I mean,
there's no way to know how he feels about Shador.
(57:22):
But what I will say is this, if you want
to have a great quarterback, great college football quarterback, come
into your building. If you want to have there's no
question a coach that can handle the spotlight. Now, can
his message work at the NFL level? That is to
be seen. We have no idea, but absolutely can handle
(57:44):
the spotlight and the attention of being a head coach.
There's no question that that's Deon Sanders. So could I
see it? Yeah, I could see it. I could see
that happen in Las Vegas, and it sort of feels
like the perfect city for it, right Deon Sanders makes
a scene of himself Sin City. I mean the Raiders,
they're kind of like that swash buckling culture going all
(58:07):
the way back to the Madden days with Al Davis
just win Baby, who cares how just win Baby like.
It just sort of all fits. So if the Raiders
have the top pick, I wouldn't be shocked.
Speaker 3 (58:19):
Can you imagine unleashing Dion Sanders in Vegas?
Speaker 4 (58:22):
It would be And by the way, let's talk about
one other aspect of coaching that not a lot of
people spend enough time talking about. Is are you a
good recruiter of free agent talent? Yes? Part of being
a free agent and I've experienced this only really once
in my career. Twice, I could choose between going to
San Diego and playing for the Chargers or staying with
(58:45):
Arians in Arizona. I could choose between going to the
New York Jets with Rex Ryan or staying put in
San Diego. This was toward the latter part of my career.
And like you meet with the coach, you know, you
sit down, you have conversations. They talk about the role
they see with the organization. And the more higher prioritize
the free agent, the more they're gonna wine and dine you.
(59:07):
So that's a part of it too. Deon Sanders is
going to convince a lot of players around the NFL
to take a good hard look at playing with his
son Shador in Las Vegas, and he's gonna have the
ear of those players. He's done a nice job recruiting
at Colorado. At Colorado, nobody wanted to play at Colorado
before Deon Sanders showed up on the scene.
Speaker 2 (59:29):
All right, Commanders have finally been tied by the Cowboys.
Cowboys finally score after some ill fated drives leading up
to this, So three to three right now they're going
into the half. Jayden Daniels again is really struggling today.
Nine of sixteen fifty seven yards, no touchdowns, and an interception.
(59:52):
I always remember how quarterback stories of quarterbacks have great
rookie seasons and all of a sudden they fall off.
Speaker 4 (59:59):
Yep. Vince Young.
Speaker 2 (01:00:00):
Yeah, so I remember talking to someone about like what
happened to Vince Young. I mean, he was offensive, rookie
of the year, looked like he was building off his
great career at Texas. They said, well, he was actually
pretty easy to figure out because Vince always rolled to
his right. Yeah, always like he just instinctively always went right.
(01:00:25):
And so if he was rolling right, you know, even
if they had a play action, he was always going right.
Speaker 3 (01:00:31):
So let's make him go left.
Speaker 2 (01:00:34):
And all of a sudden, he went from you know,
a Pro Bowl rookie to yesterday's news. And so I'm
just curious with Jayden Daniels because he's been so accurate
historically accurate as a passer, whether or not the Cowboys,
you know, Mike Zimmer maybe has saw something here where
they can get him off his mark, get him out
of his game. It happened, it will be interesting moving forward,
(01:00:57):
but then you got to make adjustments.
Speaker 4 (01:00:58):
That's how it works. And sometimes, Okay, so I broadcast
college football games. You know, it was literally in Logan, Utah,
last night. Yes, I got off the plane at nine
o'clock last night and drove up to LA to do
our broadcast. Today. I get to watch a lot of
quarterbacks in person from the booth, from the you know,
sort of the the All twenty two perspective where you
(01:01:19):
get to see eleven on eleven. You get to see
what's happening on the field. And I won't embarrass any quarterbacks.
I won't talk about them by name, but let's just
put it this way. About three weeks, mom, let's just
say I don't remember exactly how long ago, because that'll
be easy for people to figure out, but there was
there was a quarterback that could not throw the football
(01:01:41):
to his left if the ball was beyond five yards
ten yards of the line of scrims, you just couldn't
connect with any receivers downfield. I figure that out by
the end of the first half. Yeah, and it continued
on throughout the game. And so look, if there is
a limitation that is available to be viewed, somebody's gonna
(01:02:01):
find it. It doesn't take long. All you gotta do
is watch football for long enough and then all of
a sudden, your brain recognize his patterns. And so for
Vince Young, it was his inability to throw when he
was rolling to his left. And if you don't fix
that problem, you're gonna get exploited. For this young quarterback
who I'm talking about, he was struggling connecting downfield when
(01:02:21):
throwing to his left. He's right handed quarterback, and so
he just I mean, he was making all his throws
to the right. Yeah, he just was missing to his left,
and it seems so simple. It seems like, well, maybe
just work on that. But well, sometimes coaches don't catch
it even in house because you're so close to the
problem you just can't really figure it out. So yeah, look,
(01:02:42):
I mean, Jayden Daniels, I don't know what it is yet.
I haven't watched the commanders closely enough or scrutinized each
of his performances closely enough yet to tell you. But
I promise you they're gonna be really smart defensive coordinators
and defensive staffs who are coming together and saying, how
do we slow this kid down? And they're going to
look at the percentage of plays that he connects on
(01:03:04):
when he's rolling out versus when he's in the pocket,
when he's under pressure in the pocket, versus when he's
flushed out of the pocket, when he's running the football,
or when he's having one of those days where he's
really limited to just throwing the ball, not scrambling. You're
gonna have all those analytics and you compile it together
and you develop a plan. The plan that works is
going to be the one that you see replicated the
most as his season rolls on.
Speaker 2 (01:03:25):
All right, let's find out what is trending right now.
How are your fantasy teams doing today, Minch.
Speaker 9 (01:03:32):
You know, some hits, some misses.
Speaker 7 (01:03:35):
I played Jordan Addison and then he decides to do nothing,
and then I bench him and then.
Speaker 9 (01:03:40):
He decides to do stuff. Well, that's the way fantasy
football works. That's how it works, right, So I shouldn't
be surprised.
Speaker 2 (01:03:45):
Basically, Rich and I used to do a fantasy league
with our radio show, and I would draft a team
or have a team drafted for me and make zero
roster change.
Speaker 9 (01:03:55):
Nice.
Speaker 4 (01:03:56):
Nice.
Speaker 3 (01:03:56):
And I think one year I actually made it all
the way to the championship game.
Speaker 9 (01:04:00):
Nice.
Speaker 2 (01:04:00):
So you left like Bison and you just left them
well if there was a bye, yeah, I guess, but
I never made any transactions.
Speaker 9 (01:04:10):
Yes, nice, rage, nice Nice. That's usually how it works.
The ones who tried the least tend to have the
most success.
Speaker 4 (01:04:16):
Over coaching, Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 9 (01:04:19):
So most of these games are at halftime.
Speaker 7 (01:04:21):
We've got seven going on, except for the Lions and
the Colts, who are just getting started in the third
quarter with Detroit on top fourteen to six in Indianapolis.
Speaker 9 (01:04:30):
The rest of the games are basically at halftime Titans
in Texans. Titans at a field goal right before the half,
but C. J.
Speaker 7 (01:04:37):
Strada got picked off with thirty seven seconds left on
their own twenty yard line, So you thought the Titans,
maybe we're going to get more than a field goal.
But Will Leviscott sacked twice, bringing his total to seven
sacks in the first half. They only got a field goal,
but now they're on top of the Texans twenty to seventeen.
Speaker 9 (01:04:55):
The Chiefs are still beating the Panthers, but I think
the Panthers just hit a.
Speaker 7 (01:04:59):
Field goal, so it must be twenty to nine on
this one. They're headed to halftime. The Cowboys and the
Commanders are tied at three apiece. It's been all Buccaneers
against the Giants. Baker Mayfield nineteen of twenty three for
two hundred and thirty yards. He also had a rushing
touchdown twenty three zero against the Giants. Dolphins all over
the Patriots as well to a togovloa twenty of twenty seven.
(01:05:19):
He sit on three touchdown passes two hundred and forty seven.
Speaker 9 (01:05:22):
Yards in the air. Twenty four zero is the score
against New.
Speaker 7 (01:05:25):
England and at halftime it is the Vikings were on
top of the Bears fourteen to ten. Bears trying to
get a little sum going there, but the Vikings held
on fourteen to ten. At halftime AP College Poll nothing changed.
Speaker 9 (01:05:38):
In the top four, so Oregon remains on top. All
of that is the same. The shuffling does start at.
Speaker 7 (01:05:42):
Number five, where Nordre Dame comes in after beating Army yesterday.
Speaker 9 (01:05:46):
Number six now is Georgia and seven is Tennessee. They
each moved up two spots.
Speaker 7 (01:05:50):
Miami comes in at number eight, moving up three spots,
and SMU comes in at number nine, jumping force.
Speaker 2 (01:05:55):
Off farted Indiana drop to five to ten to ten.
Speaker 9 (01:06:00):
It would be very.
Speaker 2 (01:06:01):
Interesting because their coach after the game insisted that there
should be no question.
Speaker 3 (01:06:06):
They're going to be in the playoff. There's a big question.
Speaker 9 (01:06:08):
There's a big question. So, yeah, they dropped five spots.
Speaker 7 (01:06:10):
But SMU it's the first time they're in top ten
rankings since.
Speaker 9 (01:06:14):
Nineteen eighty five.
Speaker 4 (01:06:15):
How about that?
Speaker 9 (01:06:15):
Yeah, so must speak excited.
Speaker 2 (01:06:16):
I know my dear friend Eric Dickerson, pride of SMU,
is going to be very excited about that.
Speaker 7 (01:06:21):
And Ashton Genty and Boise Stay, who did win it
wasn't the greatest you know win.
Speaker 9 (01:06:26):
They moved up one spot to number eleven.
Speaker 2 (01:06:28):
Sorry, well, Boise right now is pretty safe in the
terms of the playoff as long as they went out.
Speaker 9 (01:06:33):
As long as they went out correct. Back to you guys,
all right, Monsie, thank you very much.
Speaker 2 (01:06:37):
Red Zone Radio here, all right, I want to take
since we're at halftime with these games, we got Thanksgiving
coming up. You know, when I was a kid back
in the Stone Age, Thanksgiving and the NFL was really
huge because Rich in those days, you only had Sunday games.
Speaker 4 (01:06:57):
There was no Thursday night football.
Speaker 2 (01:06:59):
Monday night foot ball obviously came in the seventies, but
the idea of those Thanksgiving Day games.
Speaker 3 (01:07:05):
You'd had the Cowboys home game, you'd had.
Speaker 4 (01:07:07):
The Lions home game. That was the traditional two games.
Speaker 2 (01:07:09):
It was always special and I know a lot of
people associate that holiday with football.
Speaker 4 (01:07:14):
I do, certainly.
Speaker 2 (01:07:15):
Thanksgiving now, Rich, as you may or may not know,
is a phenomenal cook. You can also make a mean, mean, mean,
mean dirty martini.
Speaker 4 (01:07:27):
That's right mean.
Speaker 2 (01:07:29):
But what do you got planned for your Thanksgiving? Give
us a little lowdown on what's happening this year.
Speaker 4 (01:07:35):
It's all the traditional trimmings. Now, how are you preparing
the turkey? So the turkey this year, I'm gonna do
it very traditional. Well, I actually I guess I'll feel
back the layers of the prep So with the turkey.
Every year, I Brian. I do a wet Brian in
a bucket, as you always should. As you always should.
In my opinion, it's the best way to do it.
(01:07:56):
So you start about forty eight hours out. Now you're
gonna need to baasically empty a refrigerator. So this isn't
for everybody, but I have a spare refrigerator out back
that I can empty out Before Thanksgiving. I buy a
giant bucket from the home depot or Ace Hardware. I
clean it out real good with down dish soap, and
then after I'm done doing that, I fill it up
(01:08:18):
with my brine, which includes a bunch of salt, bunch
of brown sugar, oranges, peppercorns, garlic, tons of fresh garlic.
Forty eight hours, forty eight hours. Would you say no
bay leaves? Oh yeah, bay leaves. Bay leaves are fantastic. Yep.
Usually some rosemary or Italian seasoning. Whatever you want done.
Speaker 3 (01:08:39):
We're talking yep. Do you stuff your turkey.
Speaker 4 (01:08:42):
So I have in the past with stuffing, but I
feel like the stuffing can dry out depending on cook time.
So what I like to do with the stuffing is
make it using turkey stock that I make ahead of
time with the giblets, and then this is really involved.
But that's the way I like to do it, you know,
And also like to I like to stuff the bird
(01:09:04):
with aromatics, like like like onions and lemons, and I
think it's sort of almost the citrus and the onion
and the garlic. Yeah, it sort of penetrates the flesh
of the bird and it gives it a little more flavor.
So hungry already. Yeah, So that's the way I like
to do turkey. But then I'm gonna do stuff. I'm
gonna do the green bee castrole. I'm gonna do the
(01:09:24):
homemade cranberry sauce. Homemade cranberry I don't like it as
my man. I do like it out of candy.
Speaker 3 (01:09:30):
There are a lot of people that still, I know,
the can is just that big lung.
Speaker 4 (01:09:34):
I just like the noise it makes when it finally
comes up.
Speaker 6 (01:09:37):
It's the texture of real sauce. Like I make my
own sauce, boil down the cranberries, a little bit of orange.
Speaker 4 (01:09:43):
Juice for it. Like, oh yeah, that's good stuff. It's
the can stuff, can't I know.
Speaker 2 (01:09:48):
But I mean it does have a unique texture and
any unique taste of mashed potatoes.
Speaker 4 (01:09:53):
I mean, you do not forget the mash potatoes, otherwise
you you'll go to Thanksgiving hell by the way. One
other I know, I don't want to in such a place,
but you'll be tortured.
Speaker 2 (01:10:02):
For all of sounds like it's going to be quite
a feast at the Ornberger House as usual. I also
wanted to mention one other quick story here, get it
out of the way. So the Pro Football Hall of
Fame's going through its process right now. They'll announce the
finalists coming up here shortly. But it was leaked out
that the contributor category, Bob Kraft got passed up again.
Speaker 4 (01:10:27):
Yeah he did. And the guy that they.
Speaker 3 (01:10:30):
Selected reportedly is the immortal Ralph Hay.
Speaker 4 (01:10:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:10:35):
Now, if you don't know who, Ralph Hay has joined
the party. But the quick story on Ralph Hay. He
was an auto dealer in Canton, Ohio who bought the
Canton Bulldogs, a local professional team, two years later, they
were pretty good teams. So he said, I want to
make a like, get other local teams involved. Let's make
(01:10:57):
a league. And he called a with these local teams
in his showroom of his auto dealership, and that was
the night that the NFL was born. Even George Hallis said,
if it wasn't for this guy, Ralph Hay, there would
be no National Football League because he started it. So
(01:11:18):
it's a little after the fact, over one hundred years
to be exact, right, But the idea that Ralph Hay,
one hundred years after he created the NFL is getting the.
Speaker 3 (01:11:29):
Nod over the eighty three year old Bob Craft.
Speaker 4 (01:11:32):
How does that sit with you? Well, I just think
you're getting too cute. I think you're finding a reason
to keep Bob Kraft out. If you're asking me, I, yes,
does Ralph Hay belong in the NFL or the Pro
Football Hall of Fame? The answer as he absolutely does.
Should you just throw him in there? Yeah, you probably should.
(01:11:54):
You should probably just look at the class and say, hey,
this is going to be the class where we add
the guy who created the NFL, and nobody is going
to be like, how could that?
Speaker 3 (01:12:03):
You're only supposed to every one guy.
Speaker 4 (01:12:05):
Yeah, no, they'll be cool with it.
Speaker 5 (01:12:07):
You know.
Speaker 4 (01:12:07):
So if he got in on this class with Robert Kraft,
who inarguably is the most successful franchise owner in the
history of the NFL, what about it? Critics to say, cheater, cheater, cheater. Hey, listen,
there's a lot of cheaters in the Hall of Fame.
That would be my criticism to all those people.
Speaker 8 (01:12:24):
Do you think they want to wait until they can
put Brady in and just put him and Brady in together?
Speaker 4 (01:12:28):
Well, so now you're thinking, so, my second thought was,
how cool would it be after five years has elapsed
from Brady's career. Bob Kraft can give the induction speech
for Tom Brady, and Tom Brady can give the induction
inductions fee speech for Rob Craft.
Speaker 8 (01:12:47):
Is there a five year period for coaches too, well, coaches, yes,
so yeah, you'd have to wait for Belichick to actually though, yeah,
done done, put all three of those guys in at
the same time.
Speaker 3 (01:12:57):
Well, but obviously there's no waiting period, Craft.
Speaker 4 (01:13:00):
And also, let's be honest with each other. I mean,
you know, do they really all get along?
Speaker 5 (01:13:04):
Well?
Speaker 4 (01:13:04):
They called the hour glass. I mean, how old is
Robert well, let me ask you this.
Speaker 2 (01:13:08):
Do you believe that Tom Brady is closer to Belichick
or Bob Kraft?
Speaker 4 (01:13:13):
Oh, Bob Craft by leafs and bounds, exactly. Yeah, I
thought I would agree there. I think in five years,
Brady and Belichick will be fine.
Speaker 3 (01:13:19):
Belichick is going to be the coach of the New
York Giants next year.
Speaker 4 (01:13:22):
Wow?
Speaker 2 (01:13:23):
Is that your your calling her right now? Well, if
it's not, Dionne standers, well mark the tape thing.
Speaker 4 (01:13:27):
Yeah. With the Cowboys winning the Super Bowl this year.
Speaker 2 (01:13:30):
Too, Oh gosh, yeah, golly, you who's going to be
the next coach of the Cowboys?
Speaker 4 (01:13:35):
That's what you at this rate? Yeah? Maybe Steve Steve
I did.
Speaker 2 (01:13:39):
Pick him to win the Super Bowl. I think Jerry
might be very pleased with that. I'll tell you right now.
Speaker 4 (01:13:44):
I could just imagine you sitting down with the Mara
family and saying, I went's high school with Jeff Fisher. Yes,
I know why, I know this. I do know Jeff
Fisher would take any job right now. Maybe you can
hire him as your your assistant. Maybe he could be
here defense coordinator. Shoot, I mean yeah, it's a coordinator
Belichick made.
Speaker 8 (01:14:04):
You could get Rex Ryan when the Jets don't hire him.
He could get some revenge. Ryan, did you bring the giants?
Speaker 7 (01:14:09):
There?
Speaker 5 (01:14:09):
You go?
Speaker 7 (01:14:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:14:11):
I mean I thought, did you guys play that sound
at any point this weekend so far? I listened to it.
I thought, Rex, he made a little bit of a
compelling case. Yeah he did. I didn't hate it. I
didn't hate it.
Speaker 2 (01:14:24):
We will get back to the second half of the
seven games around the National Football League.
Speaker 4 (01:14:29):
This is red zone.
Speaker 2 (01:14:31):
Radio play that flicks it OUTA ay, Chad, he's got
a go line.
Speaker 4 (01:14:35):
In his fight to these kids, got another m You
got another touchdown right there? Boy, was that a easy
looking one?
Speaker 3 (01:14:42):
Where was nobody from the Patriots around that play?
Speaker 4 (01:14:45):
What a play design?
Speaker 10 (01:14:46):
Huh?
Speaker 4 (01:14:47):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:14:47):
That's Fox Sports nine forty Dolphins radio network, the Dolphins
destroying the Patriots twenty four to nothing in that game
just underway in the second half. All right, quick run
down of the scores. These are now third quarter scores.
Vikings lead the Bears fourteen to ten. They also have
a first and goal at the Bear's eight yard line.
Lions over the Colts fourteen to six. Dolphins lead the
(01:15:09):
Patriots twenty four nothing. Buccaneers all over the Giants twenty
three nothing, Cowboys and Commanders still tied at three.
Speaker 3 (01:15:18):
Ten minutes ago.
Speaker 2 (01:15:18):
In the third quarter, Chiefs over the Panthers twenty to nine,
twenty to nine, and then the Titans lead the Texans
by a score of twenty to seventeen. I have one
quick question before we get back to all the updates.
Is it pecan or pecan?
Speaker 5 (01:15:36):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (01:15:36):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:15:37):
Who goes with pecan?
Speaker 5 (01:15:38):
Is?
Speaker 3 (01:15:38):
Because I was saying pe con? All right, is it
pecan or pecan?
Speaker 5 (01:15:42):
Well?
Speaker 4 (01:15:43):
Most people can, well pecan, I would hand pecan. It's
between those two. It's between those two, like because very
few people say pecan, but a lot of people say
pecan or pecan. Pecan. No, A lot of people don't
say pecan or pecan. They don't say he can, he can.
Speaker 5 (01:16:04):
No.
Speaker 4 (01:16:04):
It's my whole I think this is regional. It's regional.
Speaker 8 (01:16:08):
But also like I don't care how you pronounce it.
As long as I know what you're talking about. You
can say it however you want.
Speaker 4 (01:16:12):
That's my that's my theory. I'll give you he can
I think, I say you can say if he can't?
I just who call it Gonzaga? Some people call it
Gonzaga that's why people call it Nevada. There's some people
called the only thing tomato tomato.
Speaker 8 (01:16:31):
The only thing I will say has a distinct pronunciation
is gift, like an animated gift.
Speaker 4 (01:16:38):
By the way, apparently the guy who invented its. Okay,
So when you when you pray at night, do you
pray to jod? I do I do pray to job.
But that's just me. That's just that's just a tricky,
dicky ormburger thing I've always done. Well.
Speaker 2 (01:16:51):
You mentioned good Zaga. That's why you know they're the
Bulldogs and they're not the Zags. The reason he came
out with that Zags thing is that they wanted people
to say zagas that they're not the Zogs.
Speaker 4 (01:17:01):
Or the Zags, right, I get it. But Nevada Nevada.
There's there's the tournament and.
Speaker 6 (01:17:08):
I think I think I say Pecan because nobody plays
on the PGA tour.
Speaker 4 (01:17:15):
Or tournament.
Speaker 8 (01:17:15):
I think I say pe Can. I say Pecan. I
think I say pecan pan. Okay, maybe it depends. No,
it might be pecan pie. It might be peacan pie.
Speaker 4 (01:17:25):
But I'm such a social comedian chameleon that I will
I will call it whatever you call it follow your
household smart, and you're eating pea can pie. Guess what
I'm having some mother beeping pea can pie. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:17:38):
I just don't want to enunciate things. I'd like to
slur through my words. If you don't if you don't mind.
Speaker 2 (01:17:42):
Jayden Daniels is just running for a touchdown. Guy, seventeen
yard touchdown run for Jade and Daniels. So he's struggling.
He's only throw for seventy seven yards in this game,
no touchdowns in a pick but he's doing it with
his legs. So Jaden Daniels giving the Commanders a nine
to three lead, and I'm trying to wait here on
(01:18:03):
the extra point? What happened on the extra point? The
extra point?
Speaker 4 (01:18:06):
No good?
Speaker 2 (01:18:07):
Okay, you know what all this we've had, we all
of a sudden have had a couple of miss extra points.
Speaker 4 (01:18:12):
Today the winners get or I should say the weather
is getting a little bit cold. Yes, you're seeing more
kicks get blocked. A lot of fifty yard tries. Remember
they were all making every field goal early in the year.
Some Yeah, all of a sudden they missed. So the
Commanders lead that game nine to three. I believe Cyclone.
I mean those are all over. They bomb cyclone.
Speaker 3 (01:18:33):
Chiefs and the Panthers.
Speaker 2 (01:18:35):
We haven't talked about Bryce Young, who actually has played
pretty well today. Rich He's twelve of twenty one two
hundred actually now thirteen of twenty two, two hundred and
fourteen yards, no touchdowns and no pick So Bryce Young
is showing, you know, some life here. I mean, this
is obviously one of the premier defenses in the league. Yeah,
that he's facing the Chiefs. So we were talking earlier,
(01:18:56):
what if Carolina gets in the first pick up, they
going to make a change quarterback.
Speaker 3 (01:19:01):
Well, you and I have been defenders of Bryce Now.
Speaker 4 (01:19:03):
I always am of the opinion that you gotta let
it bake with a young quarterback. Now, he may prove
not to have what it takes to be a starting
quarterback in this league, and that may be proven this
season potentially, but you gotta give guys time. I'll say this,
They have momentum. The Carolina Panthers were rolling off of
two straight wins before the bye week, and then they
(01:19:24):
head into this matchup against the Chiefs and it's not
over yet. They have the football and they're only trailing
by eleven points.
Speaker 3 (01:19:30):
Yeah, mahomes nineteen to twenty four two hundred and four yards.
Speaker 2 (01:19:34):
He has a couple of touchdown passes, which is a
story because again he's statistically been very mediocre to say
the least this season. But today he is also leading
the team and rushing with twenty three yards.
Speaker 4 (01:19:47):
That's usually not a good thing. Now Kriemond is slowing
down right now? All right?
Speaker 2 (01:19:52):
We got games now heading toward the fourth quarter. Seven
games around the NFL. What's the score of the stats?
You have found your home. This is Red Zone Radio
rolling along hair on this week twelve NFL Sunday.
Speaker 4 (01:20:08):
This is Red Zone Radio.
Speaker 2 (01:20:09):
We're broadcasting live from the tire rack dot Com studios.
Tire rack dot com. We're gonna help get you there.
And I'm Matt selection fast ree shipping free road as
a protection over ten thousand recommended installers, tire rack dot
com the way tire buying should be. Well, the game's
going on right now. We've got blowouts. I mean, the
(01:20:30):
Bucks are up thirty to nothing over the Giants.
Speaker 4 (01:20:36):
I just I got them.
Speaker 2 (01:20:38):
If you're a Giants fan. Yeah, and by the way,
you know the Giants are in the news.
Speaker 4 (01:20:44):
These days.
Speaker 2 (01:20:44):
We were talking about Hall of Fame earlier. There's all this,
you know, is Eli Manning in a first ballot Hall
of Famer. He's still on the list, semi finalist list,
you know. But it does harken back to this is
a franchise that actually does have four Super Bowl championships.
It's not like the Jets. This is the Giants. But
you decided to trot out Tommy DeVito.
Speaker 4 (01:21:07):
Drew Lock.
Speaker 5 (01:21:08):
Now for what?
Speaker 10 (01:21:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:21:11):
What?
Speaker 3 (01:21:11):
What's what would be any reason to bring out Drew Lock?
Speaker 4 (01:21:15):
What to win a game? You don't want to win
a game. I'm just needling on this. Well, I I
just don't understand the purpose of trying to win games.
Like so, I get what you're saying, Drew Lock would
probably be the better option at quarterback. Yes, But if
you're the Mara family who owned the Giants, and you
send down a notice to any coach who defies your
(01:21:37):
orders to try to have the highest draft pick you
possibly can have in next Springs draft, that you you
you make it look like you're still trying, but actually don't. Well,
then I don't understand the idea of starting Drew Lock.
I just don't get it. I mean, he gives you
a better chance of winning, and he's the less popular quarterback.
Speaker 6 (01:21:56):
I just think in the league that tries to pretend
that doesn't happen, sometimes this kind of beggars the question
a little bit too hard.
Speaker 3 (01:22:05):
Well, I have one team that apparently is not trying
to tank is Dallas.
Speaker 2 (01:22:08):
They've taken the lead on a Cooper Rush to Jalen
Tolbert touchdown pass ten to nine. And we talked earlier
about this Commander's team really struggling offensively. Today they're one
touchdown on a seventeen yard run by Jayden Daniels. They
only have seventy five yards net passing in this game.
So you start looking at you know, the wild card picture. Yeah,
(01:22:31):
you know, the Eagles are on the roll. But the
Eagles are on the road against the Rams well tonight.
And it's interesting, by the way, we got prime time
double leader back to back nights at Sofi Stadium. I
think the NFL is really trying to spotlight LA and
Sofi Stadium. So you got the Rams hosting the Eagles tonight,
you got the Chargers hosting the Ravens tomorrow night.
Speaker 3 (01:22:51):
But Cammanders look pretty.
Speaker 2 (01:22:55):
Good for a while now, and I just get a
sense this thing is going to unravel on him. I
think this well, Actually, let me answer first question. First
for Giants fans, I think the goal at this point
is to move on from the Daniel Jones era as
smoothly as possible, because this is a teardown. Like I mean,
(01:23:16):
I think they were all pretty relieved for the most
part that there is finally an answer to the question
of how much longer do we have to deal with
all of this with Daniel Jones, because even though there
was some success, there was mostly failure and it didn't
seem like a good spot for him. So they move
on now there's a clean break now.
Speaker 4 (01:23:34):
In terms of what you just said in highlighting the
La market in the NFL, absolutely if you look at
the primetime games, whether deservedly so or not, Yeah, La
and I'm talking about the Chargers in rams both have
had an absurd amount of primetime appointments.
Speaker 2 (01:23:49):
Yes, and it's amazing how all the announcers really amplify
what a spectacular place so Fi Stadium is.
Speaker 4 (01:23:56):
Well, and you know Kronkey to his he's spent a
lot of money on not only the the Sofi Stadium
build but also the league office is the West Coast
League offices around the building. I've been there one time,
and I'm talking about to the league offices.
Speaker 3 (01:24:15):
Which is also where the NFL network is housed.
Speaker 7 (01:24:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:24:18):
It's magnificent. Yeah, it's like a office building out of
the future. There's glass everywhere. You could see through all
the conference I mean like there's there's you know, NFL memorabillion,
the history of the league woven into every hallway. It's
a very cool place. He's spent an absurd amount of
money creating basically the taj Mahal of West Coast football.
(01:24:40):
And so yeah, to your point, I do think that
there is a invisible hand that is trying to push
them forward in terms of the the lexicon and the
the interest of the sports fan on the West Coast.
And it's having an effect. I don't know if it's
having as quickly as quick as an effect as they hoped.
The Rams games are still majority visiting fans, even with
(01:25:04):
the Super Bowl. They still are overwhelmed by visiting fans. Chargers.
They played against the Bengals most recently at so Far
it was a sixty to forty crowd and the Bengals
outnumbered Chargers fans.
Speaker 2 (01:25:18):
Yeah, I mean it's it's been a frustrating, I know
for the league because where.
Speaker 4 (01:25:23):
The NFL is, they rule.
Speaker 2 (01:25:25):
I mean, we name any city that has an NFL team,
where that team isn't the team in that city. It's
just not that way, especially with the Dodgers just winning
the World Series and the Lakers obviously have a huge
following as well. Bo your Eagles, you're sporting your Eagles
cap with the big game tonight. Can you give us
a little preview of what you expect the Eagles to
(01:25:47):
do on the road against the La Rams.
Speaker 8 (01:25:51):
I think they should win. Pukanakua did not know that
the Rams played in the NFC.
Speaker 4 (01:25:55):
West, which it's quite a story. Yes, I think they.
Speaker 8 (01:25:59):
Should have no problem shutting him down. Just tell him
that this isn't a divisional game. He won't know the
difference and he'll get in his own head.
Speaker 1 (01:26:07):
I don't know.
Speaker 8 (01:26:07):
I still don't buy into the Eagles too much because
they've not really played anybody. But the win over the
Commanders was big, but also the Commanders could be on
the way down, so this is a real test for
them on the road. I think They're only a three
point favorite, but Quinyan Mitchell is the real deal. Their
two rookie DB's are the real deal, so that'll be
fun to watch.
Speaker 2 (01:26:25):
Well, I was making an argument about Sakuon Barkley in
the MVP Award. I just think he not only obviously
he's brought production, but he just brought a new dynamic.
They needed something to spark that team, and obviously he
was so happy to get out of New York and
to get into an Eagles uniform.
Speaker 3 (01:26:42):
I think he has had that kind of effect.
Speaker 2 (01:26:45):
By the way, Carolina Panthers just scored on a one
yard touchdown pass from Bryce Young to David Moore, and
all of a sudden, look out, Panthers are trailing the
Chiefs by just four points six minutes to go in
the third quarter.
Speaker 4 (01:27:00):
Well, if the Chiefs decide to lose against arguably one of,
if not the best team in the AFC, in my opinion,
the best team in the AFC, the Buffalo Bills, yes,
and then lose in consecutive fashion to the worst team
in the NFL. Or I guess after beating the Chiefs.
Shoulder shrug, I don't know who the worst is anymore.
(01:27:23):
Then that is going to open up the door for
a tremendous amount of Kansas City criticism. So this Chiefs
team has not looked good. This Chiefs team feels like
it's been a foundation this season built in sand. For
whatever reason, Mahomes has been underwhelming. Travis kelce looks like
he has one foot out the door in this league.
(01:27:44):
It just looks like he's already on the retirement tour.
So I look at Case and I say, Okay, yeah,
we can trust them to turn it on when the
game start to matter. But what happens if they let
this get away from them? Allah? The Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaker 2 (01:27:59):
A season mentioned Travis kelcey he just had a pass
that he would catch ninety nine out of one hundred
times and it bounced off his helmet.
Speaker 4 (01:28:09):
Yeah, he's just he's either distracted or he's starting to
go through what.
Speaker 2 (01:28:15):
Well, first of all, he's got to be jealous of Jason,
his brother, who seems to be on every commercial I
see on television. Well, I mean Jason now has not
only every commercial, I think he has a new show.
His brother's getting all the work right now. Well, so,
and he's still out there lugging around in a football uniform.
Speaker 4 (01:28:33):
What's fascinating about their family is Travis Kelcey becomes a
superstar because he starts dating Tailor and then all of
a sudden, everybody finds out, Oh he and his brother
have this podcast. Oh wow. His brother's like a like
like kind of America's dad. He's got a big belly,
and he's got beard, and he's fun, and you know,
(01:28:55):
he defends his brother when somebody comes up in public
and says now things to him.
Speaker 2 (01:29:01):
Well, you remember when the Eagles won the Super Bowl.
Remember Jason Kelsey show at the parade. Yeah, dude, everybody
was in full regalia. He was wearing the Genie hat
I thing.
Speaker 5 (01:29:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:29:10):
No, he's he's a fun All.
Speaker 2 (01:29:11):
Of a sudden everyone is falling in love with Jason Kelsey,
and Travis is like, why am I still playing football?
Speaker 4 (01:29:16):
Kind Of That's what I was gonna say. When you
have your brother who you've been close with your whole life,
who basically dragged down to football fields as a kid,
you know, who is now having the time of his
life post NFL career, I'm sure you've got a little
bit of like exit lane eyes, Like you're like, hey,
this freeway's gotten pretty long here. I think I want
(01:29:37):
to turn off here somewhere. And that's what it feels
like with Kelsey. But getting back to the cheaps overall.
Remember last year with the Philadelphia Eagles, who were all like,
I mean, yeah, they're winning, but they don't look good.
And then what happened. They went on a six game
losing streak and then got blown out by the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers, barely competitive in the wildcard round. I see
the same fate for the Kansas City Chiefs. I I mean,
(01:30:00):
if they don't start looking like a cohesive team, if
they get beat by the Carolina.
Speaker 2 (01:30:06):
Well, and that's a different that's a game changer, that's
a death kiss. All right, Well, the Chiefs are driving
right now. They got the ball inside the Carolina thirty
yard line. Again, Chiefs lead this game. Twenty is sixteen,
four and a half minutes to go in the third quarter.
All right, we'll continue on here. Which games will have
an exciting finish. I gotta guess there's gonna be two
or three games ago right down the wire and we'll
(01:30:29):
be all over it.
Speaker 4 (01:30:30):
This is red Zone Radio. Mahomes in the pocket will
step up now, he throws it light back of the zone,
tucks down Tunzas City Deandrey Hopkins.
Speaker 9 (01:30:41):
Not far from where he grew up, not far from where.
Speaker 4 (01:30:44):
He played college.
Speaker 2 (01:30:46):
That's ninety six y five the Fan Chiefs Radio Network
Chiefs have just scored again on a Patrick Mahons pass
to de hop So they now lead the Panthers twenty
seven to sixteen, two minutes to go in the third quarter.
So as soon as they gave up the touchdown, they
immediately went right down the field and scored once again.
(01:31:06):
This is Red Zone Radio. Steve Harbn rich Ornberger with
you were live from the ti IRAQ dot com studios.
Will Levis pretty much was having a perfect day until
he wasn't.
Speaker 4 (01:31:17):
He just threw a pick six. Oooh, this is a
Will Levis special.
Speaker 2 (01:31:21):
Yeah, So he's sixteen of nineteen, two hundred and six
yards and a touchdown. He gives up the pick six,
So the Texans now lead the Titans at the end
of the third quarter twenty four twenty three.
Speaker 4 (01:31:32):
Also, Detroit is dominating the Indianapolis coltsin's into the fourth quarter,
now twenty one to six. Anthony Richardson, did they call
roughing the passer? There again called the line in complete.
They called it an incomplete pass, which I don't understand
how And oh whew, Anthony Richardson on third and fifteen,
under the shadow of his own goalposts, almost threw an
(01:31:56):
interception that was in and out of the hands of
a Lion's defensive backs. So this game is all but
over for those who hip pass.
Speaker 6 (01:32:04):
Yeah, Branch almost came down with Davis almost came down
with it on the deflection too, so.
Speaker 4 (01:32:09):
Close, so close, but yeah. So Detroit continues to roll
Indianapolis cold, searching for a victory after breaking the losing streak.
Us all of the interesting coming back. What's up?
Speaker 3 (01:32:21):
You mentioned the Lions on a roll?
Speaker 4 (01:32:23):
Yes, which obviously they are.
Speaker 3 (01:32:26):
Right now.
Speaker 4 (01:32:27):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (01:32:28):
Who is the biggest threat in the NFC to the Lions?
Or is there anyone even there.
Speaker 4 (01:32:34):
The biggest threat? Is it the Eagles?
Speaker 2 (01:32:37):
Or do you see anybody else in the NFC threatening
the Lions run to their first ever Super Bowl?
Speaker 4 (01:32:44):
I guess my knee jerk reaction is the Eagles. I mean,
the outcome of tonight with standing I would have I'm
i would look, I'm leaning Eagles in tonight's matchup, even
though it's a tough road.
Speaker 6 (01:32:56):
It's not that tough of a road, but I think
I think it is the Eagle. But right now, the
Lions are also starting to take on some water with injuries.
One drive they had here, they had Decker, the Taylor Decker,
their offensive tackle, Khalif Raymonds, who's like their punt returner,
and David Montgomery all come out. I think Raymond's out
for the game. Montgomery's question will return with a shoulder.
(01:33:18):
Decker's back in the game. But like injuries are starting
to undo them a bit.
Speaker 4 (01:33:22):
Can I throw a team out there?
Speaker 8 (01:33:23):
Yeah, the Minnesota Vikings are about to take a two
touchdown lead on the Bears here. Yeah, and they're a
game behind. They're game and a half behind the Lions.
Speaker 2 (01:33:31):
With here's the thing about and I'm with you on
this one bow because remember this, Obviously only the one
seed gets a bye, yes, correct, So assuming that the
Lions are the number one seed, they will get a bye,
and then they would take on the lowest seed that
comes out of the next round, and it is conceivable
(01:33:53):
that that could be the Vikings. So let's say the
Eagles would play the Commanders and the Cardinals play the
Packers and then you have fat Falcons Vikings. So if
you had the bye week and now here comes a
team that knows you very very well, Yep, the Vikings
coming into Detroit. I'll buy that would be that would
(01:34:17):
be a team yeah, because they know them, they're familiar
with them. Obviously would have played him a couple of
times already this year. That could be tricky. And how
would the Lions react to having a bye week well
after having this amazing role throughout the entire season.
Speaker 8 (01:34:31):
And not that they can't do it, because they're built
exactly to do it, but the Lions getting home field
is huge because then they stay indoors pretty much the
entire season.
Speaker 4 (01:34:39):
I'll throw on top of it, something that we both
view and bow I think are convincing me because my
knee jerk reactions to Philadelphia Eagles if they win today
primetime on the road in LA not the hardest venue
to win on the road because they will have fans
at So five. Obviously, by the way, Aaron Jones just
scored a touchdown for the Vikings. But I'll say this,
(01:35:00):
like the Vikings, okay, a of all of the teams
the Lions face this season, that was a close game
when they beat the Vikings. What was that a thirty
one twenty nine or it's like a twenty game. It
was either two point three point game. It was unbelievably close.
And then you look forward. They have to play the
Bears twice in Division. They beat up the Green Bay
(01:35:22):
Packers last time they face them. We'll see what the
outcome is next time they face that division rival. They
finished their season with the Minnesota Vikings. Now they get
to host them. But that, all of a sudden could
be a massively important game to see who has a
top seed in the NFC potentially. So yeah, my knee
jerk is Eagles. I guess I'll stick with them for now.
(01:35:45):
But if the Vikings keep winning, and especially this is
an important win in Division. They're beating now the Chicago
Bears by two scorers late in the third, the Vikings
look out. That could all of a sudden, there could
be a shift in the NFC. The Vikings could take
the Mantle.
Speaker 2 (01:36:02):
Interesting numbers in this Vikings game. So you have Aaron
Jones who just scored. He has eighty two yards and
fourteen carries. That's solid, but listen to this. Jordan Addison
has five catches for one hundred and thirty three yards
and a touchdown. Justin Jefferson has one catch for seven yards.
(01:36:26):
Mm hmm, am I missing something here? Well, So Jordan
Addison five catches, one hundred and thirty three yards and
a touchdown. Justin Jefferson has been targeted four times and
he has one catch for seven yards.
Speaker 4 (01:36:43):
I'll offer this explanation. So different teams play different styles sometimes.
When Randy Moss, for example, was playing for the New
England Patriots, I was a part of those the late
years of Randy Moss, teams would just shut down Randy.
They would say, guess who's not getting the football? Randy Moss. Okay,
so guess who got the football? Well, Wes Welker or Gronk.
(01:37:06):
I mean, all of a sudden, you shift your game
plan to the guys who are getting single coverage and
more favorable matchups. You know, to talk about, I mean
all the great receivers. You know Calvin Johnson, this happened
to him constantly when Stafford and him were playing in Detroit.
You know, Andre Johnson with the Houston Teger is really
the only receiver we're throwing two for a while in
Houston you know, I mean, but name them Tyreek Hill.
(01:37:28):
Tyrek Hill has had a slow year. Guess what happens
when you're playing Miami. You could either try to play
all of their threats equally or cover the biggest threat
and try to win with Waddle getting more favorable matchups,
with Devon a Chen out of the backfield getting more
favorable matchups, and you could still get beat. Clearly that's
(01:37:48):
the case with the Vikings. I think that the Bears
plan was We'll get beat, but not if justin Jefferson's
the filling up the statuet will get beat a different
way and they are c. J.
Speaker 2 (01:37:59):
Strau, even though the Texans are leading the Titans by
a score of twenty four to twenty three to thirteen
minutes on the fourth quarter, has had really a pretty
indifferent day. Twelve and nineteen, one hundred and fifty three yards,
couple of touchdowns. He's also thrown two interceptions. And the
big shocker in this game is Joe Mixon ten carries
(01:38:21):
fifteen yards. The Titans have completely shut them down. On
the other side, Tony Pollard twenty one carries one hundred
and nineteen yards on the ground and a touchdown. So statistically,
the Titans really have been the better team today, but
that pick six has been the difference, and so the
Texans are trying to hang on. Look, the Colts are
(01:38:45):
not going to catch them. And this is the problem
when you're in a division with as many bad teams
as the Texans are, in a really bad division, Yeah,
how do you sort of maintain your interests? I mean,
they're they're going to win this division almost by default. Well,
but I mean it's it's one thing. A year ago
it was news for them to make the playoffs. Obviously, yah, yeah,
(01:39:05):
you obviously want to build on that. And the general
malaise of this division is not doing the Texans any favors.
Speaker 4 (01:39:13):
Well, okay, remember the Deshaun Watson years in Houston when
he was actually a good quarterback and they jj Watt
Like there were some there were some high times in
the AFC South where the Texans were doing some real
things in the regular season, but Billy O'Brien as the
head coach of the Texans, just couldn't get the job
done in the AFC playoffs. Like you just couldn't advance
(01:39:36):
past to the Chiefs. They couldn't advance pass I believe
the Titans beat them one gear. If I'm remembering correctly,
I might be incorrect, But the point is they struggled
once they got to the dance. CJ. Stroud is going
to have to make another leap in his game at
some point in order for them to vault past the
likes of a Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen in the
in the NFL postseason. Because you get down to the
(01:40:00):
nitty gritty, the sort of stuff that we've seen hamper
them this this regular season. It's not gonna work.
Speaker 1 (01:40:05):
Now.
Speaker 4 (01:40:06):
Is it great that they get back to the postseason
and back to back seasons? Yeah, but then all of
a sudden, the expectations are gonna ramp up, and all
of a sudden, Jamika Ryans and his strategy and his
plan and his message like, great, he can win the
South every year, But what is that? It's not worth
a hill of beans when we get to the divisional
round and a team like you know, you name it,
(01:40:29):
the Steelers beat us at home, you know, because that
could be the situation this year for a team like Houston.
So you got you gotta figure out how to get CJ.
Stroud either more help than they tried this offseason bringing
in Stefan Diggs or you need to find a way
to help him improve this offseason so that this roster
(01:40:51):
takes that next step.
Speaker 2 (01:40:53):
Carolina came right back, drove down the field, but then
an illegal procedure call set them back. Right now, Carolina
is attempting a field goal. This will make it a
one score game, trailing the Chiefs twenty seven to sixteen.
Speaker 3 (01:41:07):
So the field goal is good.
Speaker 2 (01:41:08):
Twenty seven nineteen now, thirteen minutes ago on the fourth quarter,
Panthers trying to hang in there and.
Speaker 3 (01:41:13):
Pull up what would be, no question, the upset of
the day.
Speaker 2 (01:41:17):
All right, let's find out what is trending right now.
Moncey Belanios, she wears many hats around here. Yesterday, Rich
we had a situation where Monzi had to actually do
updates while.
Speaker 4 (01:41:31):
We are doing our show updates and CPRC because.
Speaker 3 (01:41:36):
Yeah, I had a coffin attack early on.
Speaker 4 (01:41:38):
And that's right, almost awesome.
Speaker 7 (01:41:40):
Yes, all good, listen, I can update, I can host,
I can see pr while he's dying on the side.
Speaker 9 (01:41:46):
Is a license physician, no problem, We're good, We're good.
Speaker 7 (01:41:50):
I'm trying to figure out if Baker may i hope
he's fine.
Speaker 9 (01:41:53):
It looks like they're on a timeout.
Speaker 7 (01:41:54):
But right before the Buccaneers have the ball, there was
a fumble and he went in trying to save the ball,
which he did earlier in the game. There was a
fumble and he got on top of it, but it
looked like he hit his head and they took him
into the medical tent.
Speaker 9 (01:42:07):
Giants have punted away.
Speaker 7 (01:42:08):
The Giants did score Devin Singletary with the rushing touchdown,
but they have not returned to play yet. I can't
figure out if Baker Mayfield is gonna be okay.
Speaker 4 (01:42:17):
I don't think they need him.
Speaker 9 (01:42:18):
I don't think so either, but my fantasy needs him.
So that's why I'm very selfish here.
Speaker 7 (01:42:23):
Thirty to seven is the score Tampa Bay on top
halfway through the fourth quarter, So yes, you're right. If
he takes a sea, it's no problem for the Buccaneers
Right now. The Patriots just scored. We had Drake may
connecting with Austin Hooper on a thirty eight yard touchdown pass.
Speaker 9 (01:42:38):
But it's been all Dolphins all the way.
Speaker 7 (01:42:40):
Thirty one to seven is the score Miami on top
early in the fourth quarter to a Togo Iloa twenty
five to thirty three, two hundred and ninety yards, four touchdowns.
Speaker 9 (01:42:48):
I'm playing against him, Ryan has him, so no blendo there.
Speaker 7 (01:42:52):
The Lions are beating the Colts twenty one to six
early in the fourth and the Vikings once again have
the ball after the Bears punted. The Bears haven't done
much in the second half of Minnesota is on top
twenty four to ten early in the fourth quarter. The
Cowboys are on top of the Commanders ten to nine
early in the fourth as well. The Chiefs meeting the
Panthers twenty seven to nineteen. DeAndre Hopkins with another touchdown
(01:43:15):
that he caught from Patrick Mahomes earlier today. Twenty seven
nineteen is a score early in the fourth and yes,
a pick six from Will Levis. It almost seems like
it happens every week.
Speaker 9 (01:43:25):
Doesn't it it?
Speaker 10 (01:43:25):
Does?
Speaker 2 (01:43:26):
You know? He sees like the new Jamis Winston. Now
Jamis Winston is like a legend in Cleveland. After that
snow win on Thursday.
Speaker 9 (01:43:32):
It also feels like Will Levis does it at like
the worst time, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:43:36):
Exactly, usually when his team is ahead.
Speaker 2 (01:43:39):
This is the second time, by the way, that he
has thrown a pick six with his team leading and
given the other team.
Speaker 4 (01:43:46):
The league, it's it's a magnificent ability to really change,
to really swing the momentum of games.
Speaker 9 (01:43:55):
Now that like it's mean, or even just to pick
it like the worst moment.
Speaker 4 (01:43:59):
Well, think about it.
Speaker 2 (01:44:00):
You have the ball and the lead, right, they have
the ball and the lead, and then all of a
sudden you don't have the ball and you don't have that.
Speaker 4 (01:44:08):
Also, you have to you have to understand when Winnipeg
six is thrown, the offense has to go right back
on the field, right, like, so, so you throw, you
throw the interception, it goes in for the and then
they kick their extra point right and back there you're
you're right back out there. Yeah, And so if it
doesn't go well on consecutive drives, all of a sudden,
you have taken the air completely out of this state.
Speaker 9 (01:44:30):
And that's what definitely feels like.
Speaker 7 (01:44:32):
I mean, Texans are up twenty four to twenty three
on this one, still the entire fourth quarter to go.
Speaker 9 (01:44:37):
Now for the games coming up.
Speaker 7 (01:44:39):
Raiders running backs Alexander Madison dealing with an ankle injuries,
A mere White dealing with a quad.
Speaker 9 (01:44:43):
Andree are both inactive. Against the Broncos.
Speaker 7 (01:44:46):
Seahawks Titan Noah Fant is also inactive against the Rams
because of a hamstring injury. Forty nine Ers star left
tackle Trent Williams inactive. So if you're keeping track, San
Francisco is going to be without brock Party, without Nick Bosa,
without Shaveria Sward, and now without Trent Williams all against
the Packers.
Speaker 2 (01:45:06):
So we've went on back to you guys ali on see, well,
I'm glad you mentioned that game because I want.
Speaker 4 (01:45:10):
To pick up on that one. I can know why
you already. I mean that who's left kid, by the way,
kill playing quarterback?
Speaker 2 (01:45:17):
No, I'll tell you who is playing quarterback. Brandon Allen,
who is thirty two years old. He's made nine career
starts in the NFL and his teams have gone two
and seven in those nine games. I was talking yesterday
to Adam Kaplan and I said, Adam, is it possible
the forty nine ers don't make the playoffs? And he goes,
It's interesting you asked me that because I had to
(01:45:38):
put my projections right now.
Speaker 4 (01:45:40):
I say, they don't.
Speaker 2 (01:45:42):
Yeah, yeah, I mean I mean it's I mean they
you know, again without brock perty today. McCaffrey didn't play
all that well last week against Seattle in that loss,
so you know, they go to five and six, they're
in trouble. I mean, who could have predicted that the
forty nine Ers coming off an overtime Super Bowl loss
(01:46:07):
would not even be among the top.
Speaker 4 (01:46:09):
Seven teams in the NFC. I you know, here's here's
the crazy thing about this season, and anybody who's close
to a forty nine Ers fan, I don't think I'm
speaking to a forty nine Ers fan now because a
forty nine Ers fan is going to be defensive. So
this is more for the people who are around forty
(01:46:30):
nine Ers fans. What you realize is there's a step
brother feel to the franchise's supporters. Like so, the forty
nine Ers have not found a way to solve the
Kansas City Chiefs puzzle. Patrick Mahomes has had their number
now and two straight Super Bowls that they've appeared in,
and they've beat him twice. The problem is Kyle Shanahan.
(01:46:54):
I've been saying it since that awful game plan in
the second half against the New England Patriots. As offensive
coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons, Kyle Shannan is a great coach.
There's no question about it. John Lynch has put together
one of the best rosters the NFL has seen in
a decade, maybe longer. However, this team underperforms in critical
(01:47:15):
moments in games that matter the most, because I think
there is some some moments where he's overthinking the room,
like the play that got brought Perty injured. I go
back to that play a bunch in the postseason, the
NFC Championship game against the Philadelphia Yeah, he had a
(01:47:36):
third string tight end blocking Hassan Reddick, screaming off the edge,
who was leading the NFL in sacks at that point
amongst teams who are still remaining in the postseason. He
destroyed Purdy's elbow because you should have never had that
matchup over there. You just shouldn't have done it. But
he won. He gets cute sometimes. There were a couple
(01:47:56):
of articles released recently about him unflinchingly disallowing Brock Purdy
to change protections at the line of scrimmage. I'm not
in the meeting rooms. I'm not in the quarterback room.
I don't know if that's true or not, but if
it is true, guess what's gonna happen against better competition,
against better defenses like that twenty twenty two Philadelphia Eagles defense,
(01:48:17):
like the Kansas City Chiefs of recent iterations with Spagnola,
you're going to get found out. So when you give
a free pass to certain blitzers where Brock Purdy has
to throw hot and he can't perform and get the
ball downfield on third and long situations, it's all checkdown stuff.
You lose big games that way. So there is a
(01:48:38):
problem with Kyle Shanahan in big moments. He's a great
regular season coach, but in the postseason, the record is
the record. And if you're if I'm talking to somebody
who's a round a forty nine ers, man, if I'm wrong,
may lightning strike me. All of them have all of
a sudden turned against Kyle Shanahan, all of them because
everybody doesn't see the wars when they're winning, and then
(01:49:00):
when they start losing, it's like, we gotta get rid
of this coach.
Speaker 3 (01:49:03):
Well, the guy has gotten to two Super Bowls.
Speaker 8 (01:49:05):
I hate to pat myself on the back here, but
we may have to go back and check the tape
from our preseason predictions because I think I said that
the forty nine ers would have every struggle of a
team that won the Super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (01:49:15):
Wow, actually winning the Swimming Bowl. See if you're.
Speaker 3 (01:49:17):
Let's see, do you actually have those written down?
Speaker 4 (01:49:19):
I got them all written out. Ridge has them. I
have them locked here. I don't remember my route, but.
Speaker 3 (01:49:23):
I anyone have the forty nine ers not making the playoffs?
Speaker 4 (01:49:27):
Bo said, let's see his Well that's AFC side. Let
me go that.
Speaker 10 (01:49:34):
I don't.
Speaker 6 (01:49:35):
I think I had the Rams winning the NFC West.
I don't remember if I had the forty nine ers
in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (01:49:40):
I know nobody had Arizona winning the Unfortunately, you said
that the forty nine ers are gonna win twelve games
and win the NFC one.
Speaker 4 (01:49:47):
Okay, Well, I do.
Speaker 8 (01:49:50):
Remember saying though, that they have all these problems that
a Super Bowl winning team does have, that they they
without actually winning the Super Bowl. But there was But
I did I did believe that they would be fine.
But yeah, clearly they are not, with everything that's called.
I know that Hartman likes his big, overbearing statements. So
I do got to ask, is tonight must win for
(01:50:10):
the forty nine ers?
Speaker 4 (01:50:12):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (01:50:12):
Oh, like I just like I've been wondering this through
the week. I don't see their path to the playoffs
right now, and it's not the telling. Maybe two good
winnable games left, maybe three if you want to count
the Dolphins. We're watching the Dolphins like looking that they
got their groove back too, Like they are playing a
first place schedule down the stretch, whereas the Cardinals have
(01:50:33):
to play a fourth place schedule on The Cardinals are
gonna have to deal with the Panthers and Patriots, while
the forty nine ers are dealing with the Lions and Bills.
Speaker 4 (01:50:41):
Today on the road at Lambeau like you're just talking
about Chris. Then they go on the road to face
the Bills. Then they host the Bears, they host the Rams,
go on the road to Miami, not easy to go
on the road across country face any team, They host
the Lions, and then they go to Arizona to finish
up their season in January. I mean, if you're really
(01:51:01):
being honest with yourself right now, in their current form,
I can only look at the rest of their season
and say there are maybe two shot wins and.
Speaker 6 (01:51:10):
Again, like this idea, they'll catch the Cardinals who have
a game on them. The Cardinals play a fourth place schedule.
They have to play the Seahawks twice coming up, and
that might just be the end of it. San Francisco's
already one in three in the Division two. They've they've
won one divisional game.
Speaker 3 (01:51:24):
Yeah, they're really up against it.
Speaker 8 (01:51:26):
They're cagy with injuries too, So I don't know if
Property's gonna be back next week.
Speaker 4 (01:51:30):
I don't think anybody, guys.
Speaker 2 (01:51:32):
I want to remind you of a team that was,
you know, in a similar predicament a year ago, and
that was the Buffalo Bills. You remember the Bills. Last year,
Bills were suddenly completely off the rails. They were at
I dare say they were six and six after losing
to the Eagles in overtime, and it looked like they
(01:51:54):
were in danger and missing the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (01:51:56):
And then they win their last five in a row.
Speaker 2 (01:51:59):
Including wins at Kansas City and of course that last
game at Miami which ended up winning them the AFC East.
So I'm not saying that, you know, the forty nine
ers are last year's Bills, but you know, similar team
where you go into the season great expectations, you're not
playing well. You could be on the verge and the
(01:52:19):
Bills were able to get that five game winning streak
to get into the postseason.
Speaker 4 (01:52:22):
This is a difference, though, and this is a big, big, big,
big difference. Rock Purdy is not Josh Allen and he's
not even close. Rock Purdy, if you put him on
the Buffalo Bills this year, the Buffalo Bills would would
fall into the tank. I don't I mean, I'm not
saying I don't like Rock Purdy in the system he's
playing in. I think Kyle Shanahan, like I said earlier,
(01:52:45):
he overthinks the room in big games, big moments. But
I think he's a pretty good regular season coach, and
I do think he's a quarterback whisper. He's done great
things for Matt Ryan, all the quarterbacks he's touched throughout
the course of his career. He's done better. They've done
better with him than without him. But he's not Josh Allen.
Rock Party is also injured and out. Josh Allen was
(01:53:05):
in every single football game last season for the Buffalo Bills.
I get it. I mean there are teams sometimes where
you can make comparisons, say record to record, and then
they figured it out. But the Buffalo Bills figured out
with Josh Allen. The San Francisco forty nine ers are
gonna have to figure it out with Brock Purdy and
a mismatch crew of injured skill position players. It's not
(01:53:27):
gonna happen.
Speaker 2 (01:53:28):
By the way, the Titans have retaken the latest seventy
yard touchdown pass A Conkuo. Was that the name? We
say it again, O Conkuo? That's right, thank you, seventy yards.
Speaker 4 (01:53:42):
I love you so much. You know some of the names.
Good Jot, Pobby.
Speaker 2 (01:53:45):
But the Titans lead at thirty to twenty seven out
nine and a half minutes ago in the fourth quarter.
By the way, it was a short pass that seventy
yards for a touchdown. Will Levis, if he's not throwing
pick sixes, is throwing touchdown passes. And the Cowboys have
kicked the field goal to increase their lead over the
Commanders to thirteen and nine.
Speaker 3 (01:54:03):
We got some exciting finish that's coming up.
Speaker 4 (01:54:04):
Keep it here. This is red zone radio love.
Speaker 5 (01:54:07):
It's firing downfield complete a Cocko forty fifty, A Cocklo
forty thirty, twenty ten five in.
Speaker 4 (01:54:16):
The tow touchdown Titans, check your cockwo his first touch
goes for seventy and a big six.
Speaker 2 (01:54:26):
Hat's WGFAX one oh four point five Titans Radio network.
Speaker 5 (01:54:30):
So they lead.
Speaker 2 (01:54:33):
The struggling Houston Texans thirty to twenty seven. Once again,
this is Red Zone Radio. Steve hartmin Rich Ormberger with you.
We're at the tire rach dot com studios. Something happening
that has not happened in a while. Caleb Williams through
a touchdown pass. Yes, Caleb Williams through a touchdown pass
to DJ Moore Bears. Now it's a one score game
(01:54:53):
trail the Vikings twenty four to sixteen. I meant to
mention this, this is a statistical and non So the
Bears come into this game on a four game losing streak.
Speaker 3 (01:55:05):
Caleb Williams in the last four games.
Speaker 2 (01:55:10):
Had zero touchdown passes and zero interceptions in each of
those four games. So no touchdowns, no interceptions, zero zero
for four straight games.
Speaker 3 (01:55:22):
But in this game he has gotten back on track
really quick.
Speaker 4 (01:55:26):
Watch this. So Sam Darnold against the Bears just through
a football trying to evade the pressure, and I mean
is immediately in a tremendous amount of pain.
Speaker 3 (01:55:38):
Okay, So look like he extended his like that.
Speaker 4 (01:55:41):
Now, So look at this. So the defensive tackle falls
on the back of his legs and he is writhing
in pain. Immediately, he's screaming as he's going down. And
then he tried to walk off the field under his
own power and collapse to the field. So that's not
an achilles, is it? Dude? It doesn't looks like his
ankle twisted. It doesn't look good.
Speaker 8 (01:56:02):
You were mentioned early numbers in this game earlier. Kayleb
Williams is also the now Bears rookie passing leader all time.
Speaker 4 (01:56:08):
Look at that.
Speaker 8 (01:56:09):
Okay, the long, long successful history of Bears quarterbacks at
the time.
Speaker 4 (01:56:14):
Especially rookies. They've really had success drafting rookies. So Darnold
is making his way off the field under his own
power fourteen of twenty six at a one ninety seven
touchdowns through the air. Well, we don't know that because
you could partially tear that ten in, So let's not
assume anything yet. But it didn't look good. Nick Mullins
(01:56:35):
is in. Nick Mullens has entered the chat trying to
put away the Bears. They have a healthy lead twenty
four to sixteen, still.
Speaker 2 (01:56:42):
Have the ball by the way, speaking of healthy leads,
the Cowboys are putting the Commanders away. Twenty to nineteen.
Cowboys now lead the Commanders. Cooper Rush a couple of
touchdown passes in this game. Jaden Daniels has struggled only
ninety four yards passing this game.
Speaker 4 (01:57:00):
You said twenty to nineteen, it's twenty.
Speaker 3 (01:57:02):
To nine, twenty to nine, I say nine times, sorry,
twenty to nine.
Speaker 2 (01:57:06):
Yeah, Cowboys over the Commanders and we got five minutes
to go in the fourth quarters. So the Commander is
looking for a miracle comeback late in this game. But
if the Commanders lose, you were talking earlier about the
forty nine ers, This would help the forty nine Ers
because the Commanders right now are hanging on to that
last wild card spot, and all of a sudden, you
lose three in a row, seven and two becomes seven.
Speaker 4 (01:57:28):
And five, and they're right back down with the pack. Dude,
this football season has been so bonkers, Like, if you
think about it, there's really been one team that's been
dominant this whole year. Yeah, I understand record wise, we
can make the argument for the Chiefs whatever, but it's
been the Detroit Lions. They have been really the only
team in all of the NFL who you can trust.
(01:57:50):
When you turn on lines football, you're gonna see wins,
and you're gonna see dominant wins. At times sometimes they're surviving,
but for the most part they're beating up on teams
real quick. Sam Darnold is out there at quarterback for
the All right.
Speaker 3 (01:58:01):
So Sam Darnold is back out. That's good news out there.
Speaker 4 (01:58:04):
Thank you for that up, Dan.
Speaker 8 (01:58:05):
The Texans just scored a touchdown. Although there was a
flag on the fae the way, I wonder what he
did because did you see the fee He did not
look very he was going down. It looked like he
screamed bloody murder. I mean, he's testing out that ankle.
He must have twisted it up pretty good.
Speaker 4 (01:58:21):
Like did you ever scream on a field and pain? Yes,
And I'll tell you one of the worst things, And
it wasn't a serious injury, but one of the worst
things I ever experienced was actually in high school football. Okay,
So I was diving for a loose ball in the field.
So I was digging my way through like you know,
sort of a muddle huddle on the ground. Everybody's trying
to grab for the football. Somebody I don't know who
(01:58:44):
could even been a teammate. This could have been friendly fire,
came running in and either put a helmet or a
knee right in the in between land between your legs,
like right though, No, And when I tell you that
touched nerves I didn't know existed and sent shot waves
through my entire body. I wasn't convinced until I made
children i'd be able to Wow. Yeah it was awful.
(01:59:08):
But anyways, guys, we won that football game. So did
you stay in the game? Did you gut it out?
Of course I did? You played both ways in those days.
I looked like I was right, looked like I was
riding a Horzon little bow legged for the rest of
the game. But yeah, I stayd there all right. So
I'm looking right now.
Speaker 2 (01:59:25):
And the game that could go down to the wire
is this game between the Titans and the Texans. Four
and a half minutes to go. Titans lead the Texans
by a score of thirty to twenty seven. Couple of
the games sort of hanging on as one score games.
Speaker 4 (01:59:40):
Jovinson Jeffersons just scored. Oh there's a flag on the play.
Speaker 2 (01:59:49):
Counting down the finish of seven games around the NFL.
This is Red Zone Radio.
Speaker 3 (01:59:53):
We're broadcasting live from the ti rack dot Com studios.
Speaker 4 (01:59:57):
Ty rack dot com.
Speaker 2 (01:59:57):
We're gonna get you there in unmatched selection, re shipping
free road as a protection over ten thousand recommended installers
tie rag dot com the way tire buying should be.
So the Commanders score, they get the two point conversion
to cut the Cowboys lead to twenty to seventeen. They
kick off and turpenoes ninety nine yards for a touchdown.
(02:00:20):
Cowboys lead the Commanders twenty seven to seventeen.
Speaker 4 (02:00:24):
So you get all that, you know, you get.
Speaker 2 (02:00:26):
The two point conversion, You're feeling good, you're down three
three minutes to go in the fourth quarter, and then
you give up a kickoff return for a touchdowns.
Speaker 4 (02:00:34):
Also, as these games are winding down, keeping a close
eye on a close one. Tennessee Titans leading in Houston
thirty to twenty seven Houston Texans. They drive the field
seven plays, thirty nine yards a temph a kick and
they miss it. It's wide left on the twenty eight yarder.
And so Tennessee Titans football with less than two minutes
(02:00:58):
left in this game, and the Texans did they just
burn a timeout. They did so, one forty seven left
on the clock. Texans have two timeouts left.
Speaker 2 (02:01:07):
All right, So we'll keep an eye on that game.
It's not over with the Chiefs and the Panthers. Panthers
trail at Chiefs twenty seven to nineteen. We got less
than two minutes left, and the Panthers are on the
Kansas City twenty nine yard line.
Speaker 4 (02:01:23):
So all of a sudden, no, they're gonna be one.
That's p I right there. Ooh ooh.
Speaker 2 (02:01:28):
And suddenly now a pass interference called by the Chiefs. Yeah,
that's a pass interference in the end zone as blatant
as it gets.
Speaker 3 (02:01:36):
So a first in goal for the Panthers on the
one yard line.
Speaker 2 (02:01:40):
They're down by eight, so obviously if they score here
rich they'll go for the two to try to tie
this thing up. This has been a pretty good day
for Bryce Young. Twenty one to thirty five, two hundred
and sixty two yards and a score. Maybe a breakout
game for Bryce Young. But let's see what happens right now.
Speaker 4 (02:01:57):
Look at this now, Jayden Daniels on a broken play,
trailing by ten with two minutes eleven seconds left on
a second and nine just took it himself over midfield.
So back in Dallas Cowboys territory, as the Panthers get
set to punch it in here at the goal line
against the Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (02:02:14):
All right, first and goal, minute forty nine to go,
the Panthers looking for a touchdown and two point conversion
of touchdown.
Speaker 4 (02:02:21):
Wow, Panther easy.
Speaker 2 (02:02:23):
Chewba Hubber right there getting it in the end zone.
So they are a two point conversion away from tying
this game against the Chiefs.
Speaker 4 (02:02:32):
Also back to the Houston Texans Tennessee Titans game where
Tennessee leads thirty to twenty seven. They were on the
football field, they were trying to get into their four
minute offense and they they could not sustain a drive.
So Houston's gonna get this ball back after Tennessee punts
it to them, all right.
Speaker 2 (02:02:50):
So we're gonna keep our eye in this game in
Carolina right now, twenty seven to twenty five Chiefs. Panthers
will go for two right now to try to tie
this game up a minute forty to go. And this
has got to be a shock to the Chiefs defense.
I mean, this defense has been so stout, so outstanding
all season long. And to allow the Carolina Panthers to
(02:03:13):
go down the field and potentially tie up this game.
All right, so they're gonna have a little pass play
right now, Young looking for anybody, throws it up and it.
Speaker 4 (02:03:23):
Is I guess the Chiefs. Oh my goodness, more move
was going up for the ball. It's the same corner. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:03:33):
DJ Moore was the antenta receiver.
Speaker 2 (02:03:36):
So now they it's half the distance, right, so they
now get a two point conversion from the one.
Speaker 4 (02:03:41):
Oh my gosh, yeah, yeah, so they it goes half
the distance?
Speaker 3 (02:03:44):
Was that really well? He was hanging on on me that.
Speaker 4 (02:03:47):
I mean, he just can't have that much contact, especially
when they just called PI. They're looking for it clearly.
Speaker 3 (02:03:53):
All right, So now the Panthers are at the one yard?
Speaker 4 (02:03:55):
Do you call a run?
Speaker 2 (02:03:56):
Here?
Speaker 3 (02:03:56):
You got Chewba Hubbard. He's a pretty good running back.
Speaker 4 (02:03:58):
Here's a problem to what you on the touchdown? Yeah,
it feels like yeah right, I mean, like hand it
off to Cuba. I don't hate Bryce Young rolling out
with the football as well. But here's the problem. You
can't run quarterback sneaks because he's only about five foot eight. Yeah,
and I'm not joking I'm not. Physically. He's the smallest
quarterback as you know. Obviously, Kyler a little bit thin.
(02:04:21):
Kyler Murray's got like seven or eight inches on him.
No he doesn't. I'm all right.
Speaker 2 (02:04:25):
Here we go Bryce Young from the one yard line
on the two point conversion of the tie this game.
Speaker 3 (02:04:29):
It's a straight center and he's in the end zone.
Speaker 2 (02:04:31):
Wow, this game is tied twenty seven all Panthers and Chiefs.
A minute forty six to go in the fourth quarter. Okay,
so at a time obviously for Patrick.
Speaker 4 (02:04:42):
Tennessee Titans had to punt the ball to the Houston Texans,
who trailed by three. N C. J. Stroud on the
first play from scrimmage. It was a good pump, by
the way. They're coming off their own goal line. They're
at the seven yard line actually, and he just threw
an incompletion that easily could have been picked off. So
the Bears trailing by nine points or is it eleven?
(02:05:03):
It's eleven points in their game. They have the bomb
Vikings territory. They're down, but they have a minute thirty
two left in this game and they're within striking distance
of the end zone. Man, there are a lot of
close games. Well, the C. J.
Speaker 2 (02:05:18):
Stroud has got a minute and a half to try
to figure this out. They're gonna have to go basically
the length of the field here, But again, they're only
a field goal down.
Speaker 4 (02:05:27):
He just got sacked at the one yard line. Look
at this Look at this play. He almost got sacked
in the end zone. Yeah, yeah, Simmons was able to
break through.
Speaker 2 (02:05:36):
And seventeen what do you call from your own one
yard line? Third and seventeen game on the line, what'd
you call?
Speaker 4 (02:05:41):
Look, you're in four down territory, anyways, call something that
gets you half of that yardage back. So I'm gonna
call a crossing route to a tight end. I'm gonna
call a slant. I'm gonna call a high percentage throw
over the middle of the throw to get get the
ball out of my quarterback's hands immediately.
Speaker 2 (02:05:58):
Carolina Panthers are so lera on the sideline. They'll probably
lose this game, but at least they've tied it, you know, yeah, yeah,
I mean Mahomes obviously he's got a minute forty six,
should get down for a winning field.
Speaker 4 (02:06:09):
A lot of time for Patrick muskhit Carolina with the reality.
Speaker 2 (02:06:12):
Well, I mean it's just you know, but they're celebrating
now because they may not be celebrated.
Speaker 1 (02:06:16):
This is probably the.
Speaker 6 (02:06:16):
Biggest fired up you gotta you just look, you get
your defense fired up, get out there.
Speaker 4 (02:06:23):
A long time ago. They haven't had anything fun in
Carolina since then.
Speaker 6 (02:06:25):
I mean, Bryce Young is basically Cam Newton pretty much
got to get yourself to believe you can do this
against the Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (02:06:31):
Good things come and small package this all right, third
and seventeen. Now for Houston, what are they calling here?
I mean, and this is an endless play. Meanwhile, the
Bears down eleven rich a minute eleven to go, have
the ball at the Vikings nineteen yard line, so obviously
they need a quick score here and then an on
side kick. Oh, it is not a good play there
(02:06:54):
because the Bears are out of timeouts. Clock is running
play over the middle.
Speaker 3 (02:07:00):
All right, here we go out of the end zone
and he just ran out of the.
Speaker 4 (02:07:03):
Answer of the safety. So CJ. Stroud took the snap
on a third and seventeen and was trying to find
something over the middle of the field. He gets tackled
out of the end zone, so that'll be a safety.
Speaker 3 (02:07:17):
So they have to kick the ball away.
Speaker 2 (02:07:19):
Down five, that game is essentially over Bears, though Tennessee's
gonna win well a first and goal at the one
yard line of the Vikings. We're at thirty three thirty two.
They're taking a lot of time with the clock running,
and they need two scores. Caleb Williams is going to scramble.
He is going to throw it, and he's going to
get a touchdown for the Bears. Stops the clock with
(02:07:40):
twenty two seconds left.
Speaker 4 (02:07:42):
So he got it to his tight end. Then it
was a short pass to Johnson out of the backfield.
He takes it down to the one. He finds Keenan
Allen in the end zone. So they bring this game
within five. Here, they have an opportunity to, I guess,
go for the on side kick, but now you have
to announce it, and there's all these rules. I kind
of hate the changes they made on sidekick.
Speaker 2 (02:08:04):
Didn't help all right, So the chief says, you know,
we're tied up by the Panthers who celebrate on the sideline.
I said it should be temporary. Probably is forty eight
seconds to go. Mahomes has already got the Chiefs to midfield.
He's scranbling right now, and he's taken off down the sideline.
This is what he does, and that's the game. Basically
just ran down to about the twenty five yard line. Yep,
(02:08:25):
Patrick Will it looked like it looked like Mahomes was
going to run out of bounds.
Speaker 4 (02:08:30):
Wait, guys, hold on, did we just have a field
goal on second and ten in this Washington game?
Speaker 2 (02:08:35):
Yeah, because they're down two scores. Yeah, but like you
have two timeouts, well, they felt like they meet them for.
Speaker 4 (02:08:43):
For the drive for the last drive. You know, I
don't hate the decision. I don't hate the decision, but
it all right.
Speaker 2 (02:08:51):
So that game is Cowboys with a minute forty to go,
quick shot. I mean that was also a long field
goal that was not a given field goal right there
all right, thirty eight seconds to go. Right now, the
Chiefs find themselves in field goal range, so they'll just
run this thing down as far as they can and
then put away the Panthers.
Speaker 4 (02:09:11):
Now, we did see this a little while ago, right
because the Chiefs they look like they're about to lose
to the Denver Broncos, and the Broncos were lining up
for a field goal, yes, and they got blocked. So
we'll see if the Panthers can mount up here the
final forty seconds on the close.
Speaker 3 (02:09:33):
All right, here we go with the Commanders.
Speaker 2 (02:09:34):
Right now they are going to do an on side
kick minute forty to go after the field goal. They
trailed the Cowboys twenty seven to twenty, so they have
a different format where you move everybody up for the
on side kick.
Speaker 4 (02:09:49):
Obviously here the normal formation. Here we go and it
is up and it is recovered by the Dallas Cowboys.
So I mean, let's put it this way. You could
have a situation where the Dallas Cowboys give the ball back.
Speaker 3 (02:10:02):
Well, the Commanders do have two timeouts.
Speaker 4 (02:10:04):
They'll get the ball back with seconds left in this game,
if at all. We also have another on side kicking
yeah fashion. Here here's with the Bears and the Vikings.
Speaker 2 (02:10:13):
This one is with twenty two seconds left, Bears trailing
twenty seven to twenty four. The thing about it is
because of the new way the format is for the kickoff,
you're not used to having these guys on the front line.
Speaker 3 (02:10:25):
They only do that if it's an on side kick situation.
Speaker 4 (02:10:28):
Yeah, correct, It is unique. It's strange that all of
a sudden that looks strange, right, but it does. It
absolutely does.
Speaker 2 (02:10:36):
Well, maybe you don't get as much practice, you know
that the onside kick we saw with the Commanders literally
bounce right into a cowboy's hands, so that wasn't much
of a play.
Speaker 4 (02:10:45):
We saw an onside kick with the Texans. Here's what
I would do, safety kick.
Speaker 2 (02:10:48):
I never understood why guys don't try to hit a
line drive right at somebody.
Speaker 4 (02:10:52):
And it nearly worked, by the way, the Texans on side.
So we just saw onside kicks and consecutive games almost
at the exact same time, the Texans nearly got theirs
and went out of bounds.
Speaker 2 (02:11:02):
So, by the way, the Titans take a knee, and
that game is officially ending. So Tennessee's gonna beat the
Houston Texans. That's a bad loss for the Texans at home,
thirty two to twenty seven, only the Titans third win
of the year.
Speaker 4 (02:11:18):
Brutal.
Speaker 3 (02:11:18):
And there are problems in Houston right now. We have
a problem Houston.
Speaker 4 (02:11:22):
Yeah, that's gonna be on every news Kirn this week.
You know that, Houston, we have a problem. Where's that from? Yeah, exactly,
I'm just kidding here. We got side.
Speaker 3 (02:11:32):
It has to go ten yards. It didn't go ten yards.
Speaker 4 (02:11:35):
No, yeah, this touch of Vikings player. Hold on, this
touch of Vikings player. There's bears. The Bears have it.
The Bears have it. It looks like a touch a
Vikings player. So again, the ball isn't live until it
goes beyond ten yards unless.
Speaker 3 (02:11:50):
A Vikings player makes a mistake of running up.
Speaker 4 (02:11:53):
To the ball. Correct. Correct, And so that ball was
dribbling and dribbling, and then finally, let's see, so it
was like a.
Speaker 2 (02:12:01):
Side spin ball hit the leg of hockey bike in
and that's what made it a light ball.
Speaker 3 (02:12:07):
So that is absolutely Bears ball.
Speaker 4 (02:12:10):
Yep. Hockinson went to try to destroy the front line
of the Bears recovery team, and in doing so, the
ball ricocheted off his ankle and then one of the
Bears his Bears ball the way. Yeah, they have a
chance to win the wild game.
Speaker 3 (02:12:26):
All right, the cheese now are coming on? Bucker is
out right?
Speaker 4 (02:12:30):
Is this bucker? Yeah? That's hers? No, he's hurt, isn't he? Yeah?
Is any I don't know who that is? All right?
Speaker 2 (02:12:36):
Some guy they will two weeks, some guy taking out
of the sandsors to win it for the.
Speaker 4 (02:12:44):
Trader is the guy who won a lot of The
kick is up, and the kick is good, and the
Chiefs win in the Greater Kansas City Area.
Speaker 2 (02:12:52):
Finals game Chiefs thirty Carolina twenty. Let's tell you something
about look at that rock get over the middle. The
kids are not very good guys. Right now we got
ten seconds, nine eight seven. The Bears are trying to spike.
Speaker 4 (02:13:06):
The ball to get four three.
Speaker 2 (02:13:10):
I get it, okay, all right, so they're gonna get
a forty seven, forty eight yard field goal attempt.
Speaker 4 (02:13:15):
It looked like they weren't this game, and now they're
gonna attempt a field goal on second down as well.
Speaker 2 (02:13:20):
Christ Williams is yelling at the official about something probably
about when they when they were allowed to line up
to spike this. I think there's deje he ran off.
Speaker 3 (02:13:29):
At least five or six seconds at the end.
Speaker 4 (02:13:31):
Here. This is a hell of a Are you about
to see a double doink? Is that where you're?
Speaker 2 (02:13:35):
Oh no?
Speaker 4 (02:13:36):
Once again? Once again there's a Bears field goals out
there for a forty eight.
Speaker 2 (02:13:41):
Guys, if the Bears said this game over time, all right,
let's let's circle, let's take picks again.
Speaker 4 (02:13:46):
Let's we did this last week. Okay, called this again,
Everyone says, I it's.
Speaker 2 (02:13:52):
Him, he made Oh my god, there's a ball and
the Bears have tied this game with no time left.
Speaker 3 (02:13:59):
Guys, you all, what a miracle that was?
Speaker 4 (02:14:02):
Win? They just win. It's a tie. Oh yeah, that's right.
Speaker 6 (02:14:07):
Yeah, they were down a lett but that was their
field goal to like tie last week was to tie.
Oh my god, I can't believe they just erased an
eleven point lead in a minute.
Speaker 2 (02:14:17):
Geez, geez the Vikings, the Vikings, man, you can't. I mean,
by the way, this is bad news for Monsie. Why
is this bad news for mons Well that was one
of the games we picked this week. I beat our
every game last week in my picks. I picked the
Bears to win this game.
Speaker 4 (02:14:32):
Well, well this is bad news from MONSI then especially
all right, we'll be right back. Look at that ball.
Speaker 2 (02:14:39):
It's snuck into the opright, we'll be right back, continuing on.
Commanders have the ball? What commanders have the ball? We're
not going anywhere. Yeah, all right, twenty seven to twenty Cowboys.
The Commanders have the ball with thirty three seconds.
Speaker 4 (02:14:55):
Hold on win.
Speaker 8 (02:14:56):
If the Commanders won a game like that, but like,
also good, can I go back and complain about the
on site kicking?
Speaker 4 (02:15:03):
You have enough time to get the ball back, Like
the on site you have to drive the entire field. Now, yeah,
here we go.
Speaker 3 (02:15:12):
Jane Daniels throws and he's wide.
Speaker 4 (02:15:14):
Oh my god, Oh he's not gonna get touched that
It's gonna be a touchdown. Okay from screen, talk about
the kiss of death.
Speaker 2 (02:15:24):
They just threw my gosh, jady six yard touchdown pass
to tie the gay to Terry McLaurin.
Speaker 4 (02:15:31):
How is that seconds left on the clock. Trailing by
seven points twenty seven to twenty. Dallas had the lead,
they had the ball, They're.
Speaker 3 (02:15:39):
On fourteen yard line, no timeouts.
Speaker 4 (02:15:41):
Lauren connects, or should say Daniels.
Speaker 2 (02:15:43):
Is Mike Miimmer is Mike Zimmer gonna get fired as
defensive coordinator as soon as this game is over. This
is They just gave up an eighty six yard touchdown
pass with no timeouts and twenty seconds left in the game.
Speaker 4 (02:15:57):
Here's the question. Twenty one seconds left? You play for
the winner? Do you play for the time? Now?
Speaker 3 (02:16:01):
The Cowboys? Okay, here we go, here we go. We're
going for the extra money.
Speaker 4 (02:16:09):
Scared money.
Speaker 2 (02:16:10):
This is unbelievable. What has happened in the last This
is the NFL, folks, all right, that Cake.
Speaker 4 (02:16:16):
Has missed it.
Speaker 2 (02:16:18):
To survey, he just missed not kick, he hooked it,
and the commanders are going to lose this game.
Speaker 4 (02:16:29):
He just hooked the extra point.
Speaker 2 (02:16:32):
Oh my gosh, an absolute, Oh my gosh, choke job.
Speaker 3 (02:16:39):
Oh dude, this was a clean snap, no problem.
Speaker 4 (02:16:44):
Oh no it was not. No, the hold was bobbled.
The ball was on the turf and it threw off
the kickers timing. He shanks it to the left. He
just hooked it. Wow.
Speaker 3 (02:16:58):
All right, folks, will continue you on.
Speaker 4 (02:17:00):
This is red Zone Radio. I'm gonna throw up.
Speaker 11 (02:17:04):
Dallas just breaks three. He's able to step up, blob
food over the tearmit Clarter's.
Speaker 4 (02:17:08):
Open forty five to fifty forty five, forty turn on
the cats, by god, tug down, tug down?
Speaker 5 (02:17:16):
What a cad?
Speaker 7 (02:17:18):
Tun't it again?
Speaker 5 (02:17:19):
Hot?
Speaker 1 (02:17:19):
Other be.
Speaker 4 (02:17:24):
He's already missed it.
Speaker 11 (02:17:25):
Extra point. It's preserved. Stap Low may it to down.
Cyber's kick tick step tall stop.
Speaker 7 (02:17:34):
Bad step.
Speaker 4 (02:17:36):
They got the whole down.
Speaker 9 (02:17:37):
It's Cyber missed it left.
Speaker 4 (02:17:39):
We missed it left. So now they have to try
another on side kick.
Speaker 2 (02:17:44):
All right, so that's Big one hundred Commander's radio network.
That was the mclauren touchdown, followed by the miss extra point,
and then this happened.
Speaker 4 (02:17:53):
Cybert booms it to the left.
Speaker 5 (02:17:54):
It is covert and.
Speaker 9 (02:17:56):
Thomas running it.
Speaker 10 (02:17:58):
One minute Tom the second kickoff for houring touchdown in
the game.
Speaker 2 (02:18:06):
This game is Drum. That's the Dallas Cowboys radio network.
So on the on side kick, the Cowboys end up
with a touchdown. However, by scoring the touchdown and not
just sort of diving and letting the clock run out,
the Commanders actually still have life with nine seconds to go.
Speaker 3 (02:18:26):
They're at their own thirty five yard line right now,
trailing by eight.
Speaker 4 (02:18:31):
I can't believe what we're watching. But Jyeon Daniels has
another shot and he looks to the sideline, connects with
Ertz for a short pass. Kind of a waste of
five seconds there. Well, at least gets it closer to midfield.
Better shot for a hail Mary, Yeah, I kind of,
I mean I get it, but here wence before here
here we go.
Speaker 2 (02:18:50):
Yeah, yeah, we've seen that. That was that incredible. I
would imagine over second here.
Speaker 6 (02:18:56):
Yeah, have you ever seen a quarterback complete two hail
Mary's in the same seat.
Speaker 4 (02:19:01):
Not that I can't feel like a Dodgers might have
done it. Oh, let's not give all the credit.
Speaker 3 (02:19:07):
Jada Daniels scrambling trying to find some space.
Speaker 4 (02:19:10):
He's gonna have to throw. He just heaved it. That
is going to make it their five yard line tip
drill and a Dallas Cowboys defender comes up with it.
Takes an Is that what you're supposed to do?
Speaker 5 (02:19:20):
There?
Speaker 4 (02:19:21):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (02:19:24):
So the Cowboys end up getting the win thirty four
to twenty six over the Commanders. That's a big win
for the Cowboys, who, by the way, still haven't won
a game at home for four and two on the road,
but zero and five at home.
Speaker 4 (02:19:38):
For anybody who missed that, that started with twenty two
seconds left on the clock, I remind you from the
Commander's own fourteen yard line. An eighty six yard touchdown,
followed by missed extra point, followed by an on side
kick attempt, followed by an on side kick return for
a touchdown by Dallas, followed by a bad injury on
(02:19:59):
the kick the ensuing kickoff, followed by two straight pass
attempts to end this game. That game was drunk, all right.
Speaker 2 (02:20:08):
So people are saying, what's happening in the overtime between
the Vikings and the Bears. Well, we are still tied
at twenty seven. The Vikings have the ball right now
on their own thirty four yard line. Caleb Williams in
this game is thrown for three hundred and forty yards
and a couple of touchdowns.
Speaker 3 (02:20:22):
This was another miracle finish.
Speaker 2 (02:20:24):
The Bears were down eleven with about a minute to
go and they were able to get the touchdown, the
successful on side kick yep, and then one pass set
up the field goal, which was like a knuckleball field goal.
It was faded through the inside of the left It
looked like he hooked it and then it just sort
(02:20:47):
of took a right turn and went through the upright.
So right now, again, we've got five point fifty three
to go in the overtime period and the Vikings have
the ball at their own thirty four yard line. So
let's find out what's trendy right now. In the midst
of all this, I know, everyone's just sort of like, Wow,
we've got a lot going on here.
Speaker 3 (02:21:06):
It's been sort of exciting here. Manci sort of sort of.
Speaker 9 (02:21:10):
I mean I was with Rich when he signed off,
I'm gonna throw up.
Speaker 7 (02:21:13):
I was like, I think we all are rich because
I couldn't believe what was happening before my eyes with
that eighty six yard touchdown pass to Terry McLaurin with
the Commanders and miss seem the extra point to tie
the game.
Speaker 4 (02:21:26):
Like what, yeah, don't, I mean where we all were?
We all bore witness we like mark the calendar, and.
Speaker 9 (02:21:33):
The thing is like, if you didn't watch it, you
wouldn't have believed it.
Speaker 7 (02:21:36):
No, you know, like if you if you give somebody
the play by play for that last thirty seconds, you're like,
that didn't happen. This is not This is not a
movie in Hollywood, but it might be for the Cowboys
because they literally snapped their five game losing streak defeating
the Commanders thirty four to twenty six.
Speaker 9 (02:21:50):
I mean Cooper rush right, we got to give him
the credit in this one.
Speaker 7 (02:21:53):
Twenty four to thirty two, two hundred and forty seven yards,
two touchdowns, no picks, just one sack, and the command
Commanders lose to the Cowboys. Titans, they had their own
upset over the Texans. Thirty two to twenty seven. Will Levice.
Of course he threw a pick six, but.
Speaker 9 (02:22:08):
It didn't matter.
Speaker 7 (02:22:09):
Eighteen of twenty four hundred and seventy eight yards, two touchdowns.
On top of that pick six, Twenty Poller twenty four
carries one hundred nineteen yards and one touchdown.
Speaker 9 (02:22:17):
The Dolphins crushed the Patriots thirty four to fifteen. Was
the final there. New England had ten penalties in this loss.
Speaker 7 (02:22:23):
Jalen Waddle a catches one hundred and forty four yards,
one touchdown. Two A Togo by Law twenty nine to
forty three hundred and seventeen yards and four touchdowns. The
Lions improved to ten and one after outscoring the Colts
twenty four to six. That might be the lowest scoring
game of the Lions this year. I can't come from that,
but twenty four seems low for them. Jared Goff twenty
six of thirty six for two hundred and sixty nine yards,
kept it simple, didn't throw any touchdown passes. Jamier Gibs
(02:22:45):
twenty one carries ninety yards and two touchdowns. The Buccaneers
beat the Giants thirty to seven. Baker Mayfield twenty four
of thirty two hundred and ninety four yards. He did
have one rushing touchdown in the win. Mike Evans, in
his first game back since that hamstring injury that kept
him out for a month, five catches sixty eight yards
the Chiefs. Of course, they walked it off with thirty
one yard field goal to beat the Panthers thirty to
(02:23:06):
twenty seven. Patrick Mahomes twenty seven to thirty seven, two
hundred and sixty nine yards and three touchdowns in that one.
Noah Gray four catches sixty six yards and two touchdowns.
Broncos Raiders scoreless halfway through.
Speaker 9 (02:23:17):
The first quarter. Forty nine Ers Packers Cardinal Seahawks also.
Speaker 7 (02:23:21):
Scoreless early in the first quarter, and still in overtime
in Chicago between the Vikings and the Bears.
Speaker 9 (02:23:28):
Vikings have the ball but tied at twenty seven. So
we'll see what happens here.
Speaker 3 (02:23:32):
Yes, we're gonna watch right now. There was a long
delay in this game.
Speaker 2 (02:23:36):
I don't know why they were delayed, but the Vikings
finally get a playoff and immediately get an illegal for
sea to back five yards.
Speaker 4 (02:23:43):
There was something with the chain gang. They had to
reset the chains or why do we.
Speaker 2 (02:23:47):
Shine Jim, is there a reason in the year twenty
twenty four we still use chains like they did one
hundred years ago.
Speaker 6 (02:23:54):
Can't screw them? We like it, can't screw them up.
I would not trust to track it.
Speaker 4 (02:24:00):
I agree. I don't think you know rfied chip's artificial intelligence. No, no, no,
let's use the chains in the index cards where the
index card's gone.
Speaker 9 (02:24:09):
Trust that?
Speaker 2 (02:24:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:24:10):
Yeah, good stuff.
Speaker 2 (02:24:12):
By the way, don't forget once again. This is the
Red Zone Radio. We're live from the Tirereich dot com studios.

Speaker 3 (02:24:32):
Honestly, we were sitting here probably.
Speaker 2 (02:24:36):
Oh, I don't know, about forty minutes ago, with not
any real expectation for any exciting finishes, and then all
hell broke.
Speaker 4 (02:24:43):
Yeah that's right. Yeah, Well, between the.
Speaker 2 (02:24:46):
Commander's Cowboys game, in this game, between the Vikings and
the Bears, it's crazy, Villa, let's face it.
Speaker 4 (02:24:54):
Wow, Sam Darnold off of the I guess injured ankle
or foot or whatever he was complaining about late in
this game, and left the field for a single play.
When Nick Mullens took over fro him, just scrambled in
ot we have a hold against the Vikings Sins coming back.
Whatever you just gain on that first and ten run
will be negated.
Speaker 8 (02:25:12):
How mad do you think he is at that lineman.
He's out there on a bum ankle.
Speaker 3 (02:25:16):
Exactly three games just kicked off.
Speaker 2 (02:25:18):
Broncos at the Raiders, forty nine Ers at the Packers,
Cardinals at the Seahawks.
Speaker 3 (02:25:23):
Broncos are on the move and rich.
Speaker 2 (02:25:25):
As you know, and you've been with me many years,
it's rare that I am right about anything. But I
did predict that the Broncos will make the playoffs this year,
and right now they are sitting in a playoff spot.
They have a road game against the Raiders today. By
the way, they're on the move right now, they're at
the Vegas fourteen yard line. Bow Knicks has exceeded expectations
(02:25:48):
of a lot of people. But I had faith that
Sean Payton knew what he wanted in a quarterback, and
I think bow Knicks is his guy.
Speaker 4 (02:25:54):
You said that the Broncos would finish the season. And
by the way, this was all done in the prese
We selected how many wins each team would have across
the thirty two teams in the NFL, and Steve's prediction
for the Broncos was ten wins this season. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:26:09):
Can I get on in the other side on this,
Just to tuote myself a little bit. I know there's
still plenty of time left in the season. But what
did I say the Raiders would have?
Speaker 4 (02:26:16):
Oh boy, I got a scroll, so bo myself. Chris,
here we go. You said the Raiders would have two
wins and a tie and a tie. You know what,
I didn't throw. I only counted the wins, but I
would still give it to you. I don't care if
it's I'm just saying right now, I'm will on pace.
I'm still on pace. My production. You got it? I say,
you win it if they finished with two wins, if.
Speaker 2 (02:26:36):
You have the Lions going sixteen and one, Yeah, but
I was kind of drunk. Well right now, they're still
on pace to do that.
Speaker 4 (02:26:42):
Yeah, yeah, that is true. That is true. So right
now as it stands, Chris, you're looking pretty good on
at least those two.
Speaker 3 (02:26:48):
Yeah, I had Jacksonville winning the division.
Speaker 4 (02:26:50):
How's that looking.
Speaker 6 (02:26:51):
I had Jacksonville in the in the Super Bowl? Yes,
my god, oh my god, right, oh my god. I
think over the Bills and in like a I was like, yeah,
they're gonna have a weird game over the Bills, and like, ugh,
I'd like to redo that one.
Speaker 4 (02:27:04):
I said they'd be eleven win team. And you know what, Honestly, Jacksonville,
if they add like four more games this season, they're
still pacing like what they could do that?
Speaker 2 (02:27:12):
All right, Vikings, they're now into Bear's territory. Guys, they're
at the thirty eight yard line, so they're getting trying
to get in the field goal position to win this game.
Speaker 4 (02:27:23):
Why don't I not trust kickers all of a sudden,
because we've seen a rash of missed kicks, missed extra points,
locked field goals lately, all of a sudden when the
weather has gotten colder, especially in these outdoor formats like
here at Soldier Field in Chicago.
Speaker 6 (02:27:39):
Right, it sounds funny because we were just before that
praising everyone from hitting these like sixty yard fifty yardfield
goals regularly and Now all of a sudden, it's.
Speaker 2 (02:27:48):
Open, wide open pass all the way down inside the
ten yard line.
Speaker 8 (02:27:53):
I can know what Maddy Refus's specialty is, Like, what's
he good at? Who's that Bears head coach's special defense?
Speaker 4 (02:28:01):
Defense? Okay? This is he just bo just he just
said he's a defensive genius. Defensive genius, Yes, that he is. Okay.
So Sam Donald on the deep crossing pattern finds Hockinson
and all the way down inside the twenty of the Bears.
So all of a sudden, what looked like, hey, we
just need to get into range turns into a chip
(02:28:23):
shot field goal should they want it.
Speaker 2 (02:28:25):
Here's what I don't understand right now, why are you
running any place? It's overtime, there's no clock to deal with. Now,
they're just the mid all right, middle of the ball.
Speaker 4 (02:28:34):
Okay. So Sam Donald on the first down, first and
goal play because they're inside.
Speaker 3 (02:28:38):
The ten actually, and now comes the field goal team.
Speaker 4 (02:28:41):
He was just middling the football and, as you mentioned,
an opportunity to win this game twenty seven, twenty seven
OT two minutes left, and on comes the kicker. Now,
this has happened many times over the past what fifteen
to twenty minutes in this studio where it seemed like
a chip shot for a kicker. I don't know hearkening
back to the Commanders not ten minutes ago. Does this
(02:29:03):
go through or not?
Speaker 2 (02:29:05):
This is actually shorter than that extra point wise, to
be honest with it is so if he misses this one,
look out. Yeah, just how anything's possible gave him In
the National Football League, all right, the other game's nothing
going on except the Broncos third and eleven out the
Vegas fifteen yard oh touchdown Jordan loved a Craft eleven yards.
Packers are the early seven to nothing lead against the
(02:29:27):
forty nine.
Speaker 4 (02:29:28):
Chapped off of twelve plays, sixty seven drive, sixty seven
yard drive with that and we have a win. In Chicago.
Vikings over win on the field goal after the long
throw from Donald to Hawkinson to set up the final
score thirty to twenty seven, Minnesota nine to two. All
(02:29:49):
of a sudden, are a real threat again in the NFC.
They went through that little lull, yeah, and they've rebounded well.
For as good as the Lions have been, the Vikings
have been right up on their butts this entire time.
They absolutely have you know, the Lions record wise, I
think when you look at them their record and look,
I mean, they've only lost one game, but it doesn't
(02:30:12):
really it doesn't really properly explain how devastated they've last
left some of the teams they faced. Because they're such
a dominant football team. The Vikings have squeaked by more
often than the Lions have, but still the record is
the record. The Chiefs have one loss, and regardless of
what you think of the Chiefs, because they've looked awful
(02:30:33):
by the way, they still only have one loss. Same
thing with the Vikings. They only have two losses on
the year.
Speaker 6 (02:30:38):
So what both coming the week, both coming like Lions
and then that short week to the Rams.
Speaker 2 (02:30:44):
Guys, I don't know if you were noticing this. So
the game winning field goal for the Vikings hit by
John Parker Romo.
Speaker 3 (02:30:50):
There are not a lot of three name guys in
the NFL.
Speaker 2 (02:30:53):
Yes, especially a kicker. But he's like a smallest kicker.
The guy wears number ninety six. Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay,
you talk about a number that does not fit. Ninety
six yeah for a smallest kicker who goes by the
three name of John Parker Romo, no problem.
Speaker 6 (02:31:13):
He also he six the XFL, which is also where
Lions have Jake. I think John Parker Romo tried out
with the Lions. Do like, we've got two XFL graduated
kickers making clutch kicks today.
Speaker 4 (02:31:26):
Yeah, well, how many three named players do we have
in this league? That's a great question. I'm on ra
Saint Brown. There's uh, well that's Tho. Those are like
hyphens in there. Yeah, I guess that's true.
Speaker 6 (02:31:37):
That ra Is one is like one name. It's like
an Egyptian guy. Yeah, I guess, but I still in
my brain sees four words.
Speaker 4 (02:31:46):
Yeah, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (02:31:47):
So, I mean there, but this is there're no hyphens
and John Parker Romo, we're a number ninety six. I
mean it's like the worst number I've ever seen on
a uniform, I mean on a kicker. I mean, if
for including coordinator, is this in Jim Bob Cooter still
in the league.
Speaker 4 (02:32:04):
Jim Bob Cooter. Yeah, that's a great pull. I'm sure
bo Nicks has a middle name. I'm not one hundred
percent bo f and Knicks.
Speaker 2 (02:32:12):
There you go, my guy leading the Broncos all the
way into the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (02:32:17):
His middle name is FN. That means none of his
names have more than three letters, exactly.
Speaker 2 (02:32:22):
All right, we continue on three eights going out right
now more kicking off, This is Red Zone Radio.
Speaker 4 (02:32:30):
Oh god, snap spot Romo Minnesota Vikings have won five
consecutive games that Soldier field. The final score thirty to
twenty seven.
Speaker 2 (02:32:46):
That's k fan right there, one enter point three FM,
Vikings Radio Network, and the Vikings survive in overtime beat
the Bears thirty to twenty seven.
Speaker 3 (02:32:55):
Once again, this is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.
Speaker 2 (02:32:59):
We're live from the ti iraq dot Com studios. Want
to thank our amazing crew today, Moncylos Moncy, you picked
the Vikings to win that game.
Speaker 4 (02:33:07):
I had the Bears, you remember.
Speaker 3 (02:33:08):
Yesterday, and I took the over as well, and you
took the over. So okay, big comeback coming up. She's
actually trailing me.
Speaker 4 (02:33:15):
That's a lot, by a lot.
Speaker 9 (02:33:16):
I had to take big swings.
Speaker 2 (02:33:17):
Well.
Speaker 4 (02:33:18):
See what's crazy about that is she is such a
horrible sports better that I can't believe that.
Speaker 9 (02:33:24):
Oh, you have no idea last year, you will.
Speaker 4 (02:33:27):
Never live this down. No, Monzy, you need to make
a great, great comeback. Trying to do it to the season.
Speaker 3 (02:33:34):
I believe me, plenty of time better than the Commander's
come back.
Speaker 2 (02:33:37):
Chris, it was upset about one thing today, Tommy DeVito,
that really set him off today.
Speaker 4 (02:33:43):
I just had questions. I've had questions about that. I've
had questions about people believe in the forty nine ers.
Speaker 6 (02:33:48):
I'm trying to be a skeptic. I am trying to
spend my time just being a skeptic.
Speaker 4 (02:33:53):
The matter Detroit gets good. Okay, here we go again.
I can't just have a video that. I mean, like,
you know you got you got the Lions tattoo on
his right buttock. Yeah, excuse excuse you? No, No, I
love stamp tramp stamp left buttock.
Speaker 2 (02:34:11):
Bo Tonight we talked about your Eagles going against your Rams.
Remember the Rams your team for a couple of weeks.
Speaker 8 (02:34:17):
Yeah, no, that's that's right. Will I make it to
Sofi Stadium in time?
Speaker 4 (02:34:22):
Well?
Speaker 3 (02:34:22):
Are you going to make it?
Speaker 9 (02:34:24):
Of course?
Speaker 4 (02:34:26):
I have to go.
Speaker 9 (02:34:27):
I'm going to make it.
Speaker 8 (02:34:28):
I have to go home and I have to to change.
I have to look presentable.
Speaker 4 (02:34:31):
Why, well, you're going to be a game being a
presentable But I am going as a representative for our
great company here. So I have to look nice. Yeah,
you have a.
Speaker 3 (02:34:44):
Yeah, can you wear the Eagles cap with the media critics?
Speaker 4 (02:34:47):
I don't think I can.
Speaker 8 (02:34:48):
I'm pretty sure you can't. There are some people that
go that wear hats of teams, and I don't think
they should do that, but maybe.
Speaker 4 (02:34:54):
You should do it. Rob Load did just right. Yeah,
an NFL shield. Yeah, I'm a fan of all teams.
I'm here to support.
Speaker 5 (02:35:02):
I know this.
Speaker 4 (02:35:03):
People don't want to hear this. By the way, the
Raiders just scored. That was a pretty impressive fade route
to now help me. Who the heck just caught this? Score?
That ja Kobe? No, that was Gardner Mins throw in
(02:35:26):
the past. I knew that.
Speaker 9 (02:35:29):
It disappeared in front of me. I saw it quickly. Sorry,
I don't know that one.
Speaker 4 (02:35:34):
It's gone. I was like, so, let me ask you
this before me.
Speaker 2 (02:35:41):
Anyway, when you are when you have a rooting interest
in a game and you're in the press.
Speaker 4 (02:35:46):
Box, it is the worst. Oh yeah, I'm sure.
Speaker 2 (02:35:49):
And I've had this situation for let's say U s
U c l A football games.
Speaker 3 (02:35:54):
When I worked for the Raiders.
Speaker 2 (02:35:56):
It was great because I didn't have to pretend, you know,
I and we would cheer in the press box many times,
which really annoyed people. But how do you handle this
in a game when you are in a press box
and obviously you are very much rooting for one team.
Speaker 8 (02:36:12):
I will say, if it was me going to cover
the Dodgers, that would be tough. But football and basketball,
I don't really care that much. It'll be it'll be fine.
Let's put in my AirPods in pull pull on my laptop.
Speaker 7 (02:36:23):
And this was so.
Speaker 6 (02:36:24):
I was at the Chargers Lions game last year and
I know when they were lining up for the field goal,
that last second field goal that won the Lions gave
me and my friend Jeremy, who I do the podcast with,
we were punching each other in the arm because we
were trying not to like, yell or say anything, just
punching each other. In my very first experience in a
legit press box was when I was on the Daily
Brewing my second year at UCLA.
Speaker 4 (02:36:45):
I got a seat in the press box and I
was excited.
Speaker 2 (02:36:48):
Was at the coliseum, you know, free food, the whole
stra bank and James Owens was a running back for
UCLA and he breaks through.
Speaker 3 (02:36:56):
The Kansas line.
Speaker 2 (02:36:57):
We'd had a non Conference game against Kansas, and he's
off to the races and I jump on my seat.
Speaker 4 (02:37:03):
I'm in my seat. Go j Oh go Jay, Oh
go Jay in the press box. So he scores.
Speaker 2 (02:37:10):
I'm like yes, And the four other writers from the
Daily Bru and all seniors by the way, Yeah, they're
looking down at me, the kid, and they're just looking
at me, almost collectively, say sit the f.
Speaker 4 (02:37:26):
Down.
Speaker 3 (02:37:26):
I'm like, you can't do that in a press box.
Speaker 4 (02:37:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:37:29):
That's when I realized I don't like press boxes.
Speaker 4 (02:37:31):
Yeah, it's it's look, you go to a game. It's
supposed to be entertaining.
Speaker 10 (02:37:37):
Yes.
Speaker 4 (02:37:37):
I like one thing that Chris has started doing that
I really think diminishes his boyish wonderment of the Detroit
Lions is he started saying I'm not a Lions fan.
I just covered the team because it's you can blame
the guy sitting right next to you for that. You
could you could say that you enjoy them too. I
want him to. That's not gonna affecting your credibility. I
(02:38:00):
I think you cover them fairly.
Speaker 3 (02:38:02):
Let me ask you this, are you going to be
in New Orleans for the Super Bowl? If they get there?
Speaker 6 (02:38:07):
That depends if my dad holds up to his promise
to buy tickets if we do. But also yes, let's
get him on the phone. I yeah, right the way.
By the way, we're doing a live show in Detroit
on December fourth of the podcast, and I think he's
gonna be there too.
Speaker 4 (02:38:24):
Wow, goodness gracious.
Speaker 7 (02:38:25):
Hey.
Speaker 4 (02:38:25):
By the way, the Raiders lead the Broncos in Vegas
right now, seven to three second quarter action there, the
