we are getting to crunch time in Football Rivalry week.
Sound like Elmer Fudd there, but you know what I
was trying to say. And of course's plenty of NFL
action already so far, and Scott Kellen the six cent
Sports will join us here in about fifteen minutes to
chop up the NFL. But there are two major I
(00:49):
think headlines today and I'm gonna do this in chronological order,
because there's an irony about the Chicago Bears and what
happened Thursday against the Lions. You have to wonder if
the Bears hadn't fought back from that sixty to nothing lead,
and maybe you know, lost twenty three to ten but
(01:10):
played hard, Eberflus might still have this job today. There's
an irony there that in the midst of it and
almost epic comeback thanks to their complete meltdown at the
end of the game. Ibraflues is gone. And I you know,
said it last time a couple of times. If his
(01:31):
death warrant wasn't signed, it sure is now. But what's
really interesting about this whole story that I can't get
out of my mind. And Jimmy Johnson, legendary coach, Jimmy
Johnson just barbecued Matt Ebles Eberflus. You know, the worst
part of this whole event is at the end of
the Thanksgiving loss. It might be the fact that Matt
(01:53):
eberflu said afterward, quote he liked what they did. Yeah,
other than that, Missus Lincoln, how is it played? Never
mind the horses blind, just keep loading the cart, he
told a fan base. What everybody saw at the Bear's
horrific final thirty seconds and their twenty three twenty longs
to Detroit actually wasn't that bad. No matter the context,
(02:14):
this was not going to end up well for Matt Eberflus,
and it didn't. Eberflus was fired Friday morning. Now, for
anybody who missed it again. The Bear's trail twenty three
to twenty. In the final minute, Caleb Williams was sacked.
Thirty seconds remained in the game. The clock kept taking.
The Bears had a timeout but didn't call it. Williams
(02:34):
looked like a confused rookie because he was Eberflus didn't
throw him a life preserver. The clock ticked down six
seconds and then the ball was finally snapped. Williams throws
an incomplete pass downfield the final play of the Matt
Eberflus era in Chicago, and again for posterity, quote, I
like what we did there. Eberflu set up for the
game as part of his explanation. Yeah, never mind the
(02:58):
fact the patient died, the operation was a success. Yeah,
we'll go with that one. Bears made history. They had
never fired a coach during the season ever, and the
fact that it reminded people of all the time on
multiple occasions. But they said, mister Iberflus, will make an
(03:19):
exception for you. Happy Thanksgiving, you get to be the
turkey today. The truth of the matter is Iberflus cost
the Bears in close games more than once, and part
of a coach's job is you know you're in show business.
What you say after a loss resonates. It's not the
biggest part of the job. But you can't tell a
(03:39):
devoted fan base that it's raining outside when you're ping
on their shoes. Now, mistakes were not totally fine, by
the way, when the Washington Commanders beat the Bears on
a hail Mary, picking up an easy thirteen yards on
the second to last play, when the Bears played way
back to give Jayden Daniels a shot to throw it
to the end zone, Iberflu said he wasn't concerned about game. Meanwhile,
(04:02):
Commander's coach Dan Quinn said the Commanders couldn't have completed
the hail Mary without it, and the loss to the
Green Bay Packers a last second field goal was blocked.
Iber Flu said the team felt good about not trying
to move the ball closer for kicker Carol Santos, even
though Packers players Alexis stop worry about I don't know
(04:24):
what the hell's going on there. They knew Santos. They
knew Santos kicked a low trajectory on longer kicks, and
the Packers players knew that. And what was interesting is
that Alexa stop special effects here on a Friday night.
Let me reset this Packer thing again. The last second
(04:47):
field goal was blocked. Iber flu said the team felt
good about not trying to move the ball closer, even
though the Packers players said afterward they knew Santos kicked
a low trajectory on the longer kicks, which is obvious.
You have to to get the distance right. This guy's
got a body of work, not just the Lions, not
just the Washington Commanders, but the Packers. And then came
(05:09):
these things coming threes, they say, the end of the
game situation against the Lions. Now, if you say you'd
never seen something like that before, you're right. Over the
past thirty NFL seasons, there's been over sixteen hundred instances
where there was only one team that lost by three
or fewer points on a play inside the opponent's thirty
on their final drive, but the clock had to expire
without trying a field goal or using all their timeouts.
(05:32):
That was the Bears on Thursday. Iberflus is a legend.
He is the worst record among all two hundred and
twenty one coaches in NFL history with twenty or more
games decided by seven or fewer points. He was five
and seventeen in those games. It can't be chalked up
to bad luck either. Now it's not just Ibraflus. There's
plenty of blame to go around with the Bears organization.
(05:52):
Their shorts aren't clean. But they had to Eberflus address
the media on Friday, and then they fired him a
couple hours later. You guys, do anything professionally with all
due respect, you know what, go home, take some time off,
soak your head. I'm sure you'd be paid for a while.
You'll end up somewhere else, you know, somebody's pooch punter
coach or something. Meanwhile, Georgia and Georgia Tech also made
(06:14):
a little bit of history of their own. Georgia now,
I don't know what the hell would have happened. And
by the way, this is going to be one of them.
For our midnight hour tonight coming up in fifty three minutes,
we're gonna have kind of a Thanksgiving smorgas board of
a lot of things, and one of them is going
to be the new college football playoff. Right, it still
appears flawed. Do you like it? Do you not like it?
(06:36):
What would you change about it, etc. That's one of
about three or four things I'm gonna roll out there,
But I don't know. You know, Georgia was already guaranteed
a spot in the SEC championship game. So let's say
they get beat by Georgia Tech. They played the winner
in Texas Texas A and M. They got three losses.
They beat the winner of Texas Texas A and M.
They advanced a playoff by virtue of winning the SEC
Okay three loss team. All right, Nate Fraser, maybe someday
(07:01):
will be a trivia answer to a question in much
the same way Matt Eberflus is the only Bears coach
to ever be fired in mid season. Fraser ran for
the infamous two point conversion in the eighth overtime after
Georgia pulled off an improbable fourth quarter comeback forty two
victory over Georgia Tech on Friday, and it stretched all
(07:22):
the way into Saturday morning. Happened till after midnight. Kirby Smart,
who does know what he's doing. I don't know why
Georgia plays with their food get shot out in the
first half, but when they decided to show up, they
never give up. They're going to be a tough out right.
They fell behind seventeen to nothing. Georgia Tech dominated them
most of the game, but they showed plenty of grid
(07:42):
They want to spot in the twelve team playoff and
no matter how they fare in next week in Southeastern
Conference Championship game against either number three textas your number
twenty Texas A and M. Kirby Smart basically said our
opportunities in front of us. But that's for someone else
to decide.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
Now.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
Nick Saban said something until and he says, Look, the
committee is not looking to reward any three loss team,
But if Georgia advances to the SEC Championship game and
they lose by a virtue having to play an extra game,
do you really want to punish the team that loses
in the SEC championship game. Meanwhile, by the way, I
(08:19):
think Texas is really good. You know, they haven't beaten
a single top twenty five opponent all year. But I digress. Look,
there are no moral victories. I really like this new
Georgia Tech coach Brinkeyt. That was a hell of an
epic football game from a fans standpoint. I mean, look
the takeaway for Georgia Tech. This guy Brent Kee took
over a don trodden program. He insisted they can compete
(08:42):
with anyone, and they have. That's exactly what Georgia Tech
has done this year. Meanwhile, Georgia, look, this is not
the Bulldogs of two years ago when they were repeating
back to back redundancy department they surrounded five hundred and
sixty three yards. No one has the depth this year
those teams had in the past. But don't go to
sleep on the Georgia Bulldogs. If we wake up on
(09:03):
January twenty first, the night after the championship game, and
Georgie has won it, I won't be surprised. I'm not
saying I'm predicting that. But let me tell you something.
You get into a fistfight in the phone booth with
these guys. They've been there before, been there, done that.
They know what to do. All Right, we have an
incredibly competitive, newsworthy NFL slate coming up. No better better
(09:24):
to bring on than my guy, Scott Kellen from six
cent Sports Rights for the Review Journal here in Vegas
as well, and he's got a documentary record of success.
And one of the first things we're gonna do is
give an autops to you that Bears Lions game, because
if I'm being honest, I think the lines are vulnerable
now and I'll explain why. I'm Bernie Fridder. We're krimpy

All right back on the Bernie Frattle Show, Fox Sports Radio.
Come to your line. From the tyrect dot com studios
Here in Las Vegas, a very influential NFL weekend is
already underway, springing a gentleman. I've known him fourteen years,
the owner of sixth Sports, prominent in the Las Vegas
Review Journal picks, documented winning record of fifty five percent
(10:25):
over the last seven years. Has had great performances in
the super Contest, the Cannon Football Showdown. Say hello to
Scott Kellen Scott, how are you, buddy?
Speaker 5 (10:35):
Hey, how's it going, Bernie? Good to be with you.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
Thanks for having me, yes, sir, and so much to
get to and we're going to dive right in, but
I want to start by looking backwards, Scott. I want
to have a bit of an autopsy on the Lions
Bears game. And if you followed the Lions, which I
know you have, the last four weeks, Saturday Thursday, some
things showed up. It kind of went unnoticed that a
(10:59):
lot of their drives, all in the first half ended
up with field goals. And then much was made because
Caleb move the offense in the second half and the
Bears put points up. But the Lions have so many injuries.
Now the pass rush really wasn't getting home. That's my take.
Now we look ahead in next Thursday, the Lions are
laying five against a very pesky Green Bay Packer team.
You just saw Lambeau last week. How do you handicap
(11:19):
the Lions going forward? And is there cost for a
concern based on what you're seeing and based on the
injuries what you're stacking up.
Speaker 5 (11:27):
Yeah, I don't know if concern would be the right
word for me, But what I would say, and I
don't think it's that they peaked, but they've blown out
a lot of teams, a lot of bad teams. Jacksonville, Tennessee, Dallas,
and I think the narrative for them is they're just
this unstoppable team, and you know, when you're beating a
(11:49):
bad team like that, they're just bowllies. And we all
know how they play on Matt Center's anything wrong with that,
but that's just how they play, and that kind of
blows up the perception of them. We're in reality, Bernie. Yes,
they've they've got the injuries. They're now going to be down,
I believe to their third string linebacker with Malcolm Rodriguez
Gate yesterday as well. You know they've lost you know,
(12:12):
their their edge rusher there, and they obviously they picked
up Saderia Smith. We'll see, you know, he obviously has
some potential as well. But when they played really good
teams this year, the Rams, they beat in overtime, Tampa Bay,
they lost to Minnesota, they barely beat Houston, they barely
beat they beat Green Bay by ten. But Jordan Love
throws that pick six. He's coming off that growing injury.
(12:35):
Green Bay kind of all played him in that game,
I feel. So, you know, you can look at any
team against other good teams and say, yeah, it's a
dog plight for sure, but I don't think they're as
good as the media is kind of uh, you know,
portraying him the beat and I think the Philadelphia is
in the Green Bays of the world. Yes, you have
to watch out for it. And I will say this,
(12:56):
and I'm a Packer fan, but I bet against them
all the time. They are built to play on turf
at Detroit at Minnesota with all that speed and obviously
we know they went in there and Thanksgiving last year
and due to some turnovers they beat the Lions the lines.
They got to be careful here because there are other
teams coming that are just just as good as them
(13:16):
in my opinion.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
Well, the Rodrigo injury Malcolm Mondriguez, who's really a house
favorite in Detroit, is huge. He's the guy who can
spy someone like a Jalen Hurts. It matters. So we'll
we visit that later. We'll probably get you on right
before the playoffs. But just something to watch and real quickly,
(13:38):
ever so quickly, as we look ahead to Thursday with
the pack catching five. If I'm being honest, the only
sut I could look to would be Green Bay. Here
your quick thoughts on that game?
Speaker 5 (13:47):
Yeah, I mean, just the way my ratings work and
how I would play games, I don't think I'll end
up having to play on it. But you know, to
your point here, Packard's getting points, Matt Lafleur is in,
you know, historically been very good getting point and I
think they can go in there and win this game. Now, obviously,
if Love turns the ball over, that's a whole other game,
and he's got to be careful with that. But you know,
(14:08):
last couple of games he's been better. They don't turn
the ball over it, they can go in and certainly
win that game.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
Absolutely, that were so quickly on the Chiefs. I'm not
one of these people that wants to disavow the Chiefs.
You know, what people don't realize is traptical. Holmes has
started one hundred and twenty five games in the NFL.
Eighty of them have been one score of variety, and
you're going to pay a Chiefs tax. He's only twenty
one and forty nine against the number. So they beat
the Raiders today, onward and upward, and I think the
(14:34):
Chiefs are playing with their food a little bit. I
think they're going to be very difficult to beat in January.
Your thoughts.
Speaker 5 (14:40):
You know from the line of screwings, they're about to
average this year. But we kind of saw this last year, right,
and you know, we also saw what Andy Reid and
Patrick Mahomes did once they got to the playoffs. And
the defense is still very good for Kansas City, so
you can never count them out. Now they play to
win Super Bowls. They could lose in the championship game,
s championship game, they can lose in the Super Bowl,
(15:02):
and for a Kansas City fan, that would be a disappointment,
but that can happen, right. They barely put a lot
of these super Bowls, So you know, until they don't
get to the AFC Championship game with the Super Bowl,
you can't count them out. And they know how to
get better. They know how to win when push comes
to shop, So until they don't, you got to count
them in as having a very viable chance of doing that.
Speaker 2 (15:24):
Others dive into this slate. I want to start with
the Chargers visiting Atlanta. You know, you look for string
versus weakness. Atlanta's pass rush is poor at best, and
we know that Justin Herbert feasts when he's comfortable in
the pocket. However, odd tough travel situation, and I can't
know that I can back the Chargers here because I
(15:46):
have some concerns. Feels like a bounced back for Atlanta
to stay away. You've seen an angle in this game.
Speaker 5 (15:51):
I'm not playing the game, Bernie. I would lean slightly
to Atlanta. You kind of hit on Atlanta flast in
the league in sacks. But this Charger team, they're very
average from the line of scrimmage. But they're plus eight
and turnovers and obviously they're well coached, and that's you know,
got them set up where they are. Whatever the record is,
seven or four, I believe, but they're pretty average where
(16:11):
Atlanta is actually a little bit slightly better than average
from the lion of scrimmage, and they're at home, basically
in a pickham situation getting a point. So I didn't
play the game, but I would have a flight lean
to Atlanta. I just don't like the fact that they
can't get to the quarterback. And if they can't get
to the quarterback, he got justin Herbert, and you know
he can he can kill you if quin Johnson can
hold out of the ball. So I'm not playing it,
(16:32):
but I would lean towards Atlanta a little bit.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
All right, let's jump ahead. Pittsburgh visited Cincinnati. Now I
could be all wrong here, but I have fired on Cincinnati.
I actually like them a lot without going through all
the metrics. Yes, since in Cincinnati's coming off of bye,
and they've been very good off of by the last
three or four years, and Pittsburgh's actually the opposite when
they face a team coming off of bye. Let me
(16:57):
just jump ahead and say I have fired on the
angles three your.
Speaker 5 (17:01):
Thoughts, So, you know, like the Chargers, Pittsburgh here below
average team from line of scrimmage, but again we'll coach
plus thirteen and turnovers net turnover margins, so that's kind
of got them where they are. I do lean towards Cincinnati.
I played the under in this game, Bernie, under forty seven.
It bounced back off and just actually got bounced back
down to forty seven within the last hours. So Division
(17:24):
games outside totals higher than forty five late in the year,
call it November and December. We know the weather starts
to get colder. Just it's almost like clockwork, Bernie. Every
single year these things win more than they lose. I
think they're about four and one to the under already
this year. You know, I don't like necessarily some of
the matchups there with neither team really being good getting
(17:44):
to the passer. And we know how good Cincinnati's offense is,
but Pittsburgh tends to play unders on the road, even
though that's that's been a little bit different this year.
But I like that situation. My numbers support it. So
I did fire under forty seven with a slight lean
towards Cincinnati.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
Well, yeah, we've talked about that trend when November rulls around.
I've been on it this year and so well. I've
actually even been on and on some indoor games because
I've seen some inflated numbers. But yes, that seems like
that's going to be a fistfight in a phone booth,
all right. The Arizona Cardinals, the very pesky Arizona Cardinals
visit Minnesota, catching three and a half. I haven't fired
(18:21):
on this game, but Arizona would be the side. Actually,
I would look to your thoughts.
Speaker 5 (18:27):
I am on the over in this game, and I
think in the Review Journal I had it as the
best best this week over forty five. To your point, though,
in Arizona. You know, these two teams are about equal
from the line of scrimmage. I think Arizona has quietly
been a very very good team this year. You know.
So I didn't make any play on the side of
(18:47):
the game, but I did play it over were inside
perfect conditions. Murray is having, I think quietly a very
good year as well, six few of sacks in the league.
Now they're going to face the Biking to you know,
have the fourth most sacks in the league, but his
ability to scrabble can hopefully avoid some of that. The
Vikings leave the league in explosive plays. The Cards are
(19:07):
bottom ten and creating their own explosive pass plays of
twenty yards or more, but the Vikings give up the
eighth most. So I think we're going to see explosive
plays in this game. And both these teams are above
average passing offenses, really facing just better than average pass defenses.
And I don't have the number in front of me, Bernie,
(19:28):
but it seems like Kyler Murray when he's on the
road getting four or more. And I know that's not
the case here, but he has been tremendous against the
spread as well. Kind of helped support what you got there.
But for me, best play in this one is over
forty five in this game.
Speaker 2 (19:44):
In my observation on Kyler Murray had a bad game
last week. He hasn't had a bad game twice in
a row that I could remember. And you put them
in perfect conditions indoors, and I think they can hang
that number. I actually think their life to win out right.
I really do with Jonner Jonathan game and this team
has a has a whole new culture and it's pretty
impressive to me. The Colts, a hothouse team travel outdoors
(20:09):
to New England, a team that at least plays hard.
This is the first teaser partner I looked at this
week and the culture, you know, lay in two and
a half on the road and I am teasing the
Patriots up and I'll tell you who the other partner
is coming up. But your thoughts on that game.
Speaker 5 (20:29):
You know from the teaser I like it a lot.
You're getting obviously the cross the three, sixth and seven.
You've got a low total, which is the absence your
probability of getting that as well. I miss New England
plus three, so I have not played this yet, but
if it goes back to three, and it's an expensive
two and a half right now. If I can get
New England plus three, I will definitely be on them.
(20:49):
You know, the Cults are going to come in very
banged up on the offensive line. They're now down to
the third string center. Also, the right tackle is going
to be out for personal reasons this week as well, hurt,
and there they're going to be missing the best receiver
in Josh Downs. And New England, like you said, they're pesky,
they're competitive and with Drake May since he's come in,
they're throwing it for about one point one yards per pass,
(21:12):
better than they did with Brissette. Add in also, you
know Drake May's ability to run the ball as well.
My numbers support New England here and I just like
to play and we'll get to that key number of three.
So if I can't get to three, I'll probably look
to tease them, but I will definitely be on and
plus three as the best bet as well.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
Just something to add as a footnote, Scott, this really
caught my eye and the Pulse are actually laying wood
on the road. They've been out gained in eleven of
their last twelve games. This season. I don't have any
faith in Anthony Richardson and oh, by the way, in
their last six they've been outstated in the stats and
their last six contests, which means they're kind of leaking
(21:52):
oil and yet the market hasn't really caught up. They're
actually laying points on the road. So that's my first
teaser partner. Moving on the Seahawks and the Jets, it's
the Jets have kind of been an auto fade and
obviously the line is telling you here right, But I
don't know that you can hang. You know, if you
(22:12):
tease the Jets up over seven to seven and a
half week the long teaser, you got to hold your nose.
But it feels like that might be the place Seattle's
look good two games in a row. I don't have
faith that Gino Smith can do it three games in
a row, but I don't have I don't have faith
in the Jets either. I think they can keep that
game within a touchdown. Your thoughts from a teaser standpoint.
Speaker 5 (22:32):
Well, from the teaser certainly because in this line is
not going to get the plus three, But I would
play the Jets if it did. I mean, these two
teams are about equal from the line of scrimmage this year,
the Jets are at home. That helps him obviously, And
from a matchup standpoint, Seattle is allowing the eighth most
sacks in the league and the Jets are going to
command getting the eighth most sacks in the league. Something
(22:55):
mismatch right there as well. So now you bring the
Jets in off the by at home, you know, I mean,
the just have been what they are this year, so
you never know what you're going to get. But if
I can get three, I would play at the teaser,
I think most certainly as well. I would definitely lean
towards the Jets here. My numbers support that a little
bit as well.
Speaker 2 (23:14):
Just one thing to know, because you know, I mean,
you and I've been watching games together for ten years,
side by side, and we make observations. I'm sure you
saw this. Last week. Seattle managed to beat Arizona sixteen
to six, but Gino Smith tried to give the game back.
He threw a red zone pick, which was bad. He
threw another near interception deep in his own zone in
(23:34):
the next possession. Gino Smith leaves the league in red
zone picks this year. He's throwing four of them, so
I don't necessarily trust Gino, and that's why I think
the league tease it up is showing some value a
game I'm not involved in. Titans at Commanders, the number
I show the Commandos lay in five and a half.
(23:55):
I think Jaden Daniels has been superb, but he started
going to have the rookie regression, which he's already started.
Your thoughts on that game.
Speaker 5 (24:04):
You know, I leaned under in this game, and I've
gone under in Washington a fair amount this year, and uh,
you know, paid the price for it. I had the
other last week three three at half time and I thought,
you know, I've got a winner, and we all know
what happened there in the fourth quarter as well. But
I'm gonna lean under a little bit. Tennessee is a
team at the line of scrimmage, they're almost, uh, you know,
equal to what Washington is. But the problem for Tennessee
(24:26):
is their minus twelve and turnovers. Then so Will Levis.
We've seen some of those interceptions he's throwns. They have
a lot of the third most sacks in the league,
so that's a problem. But they're going to face a
Washington team that is below average on defense here, so
I think the numbers about right from the side standpoint.
You know, maybe we'll see Daniel starts to play better,
a little bit better here because he gets healthy. But
(24:48):
I'm leaning under in this game, and I kind of
like this Tennessee team a little bit. And I will
tell you, you know, just between now and the end of
the year, the Tennessee schedule gets fairly easy the rest
of the year. And if they can just start doing
some with Will Levis, because this defense is very good.
They've got injured, but they're still playing very, very well,
and with that defense, you know, if they can get
(25:08):
the offense going a little bit, and again the schedule
is going to get favorable here to finish the season,
you might see Tennessee play a little bit better than
what we would expect going out the rest of the year.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
What keeps me off that game is the aforementioned Will
Levis had another pick six last week, took eight sacks,
and if you watch the film, most of the time
it's his fault, poor pocket navigation, hesitating to get rid
of the ball, and so it's a stay away from me.
But points probably will be at a premium just hope
there's not a pick six or something stupid which can
(25:38):
change change things around. As you know, talk with Scott
Kellen six cents Sports catch him in the Las Vegas
Review Journal, documented winning records the last six years, fifty
five solid performances in the super contest counter Gaming Texans
at Jaguars Texans Land three and a half. Houston we
got to be careful with now, I think a little bit.
(26:00):
But they're a rock solid team who gives an effort.
They typically don't beat themselves. So even though it's on
the road in Houston's land points, which I hate, they'd
be the only set I could look to here.
Speaker 5 (26:11):
Yeah, this number come down because obviously it looks like
Trebor Lawrence is gonna be back this week. If so,
we're now down to three and a half here. I
think it might have been even closer to five earlier.
If this would go to three, Bernie, I would play Houston.
My numbers do support it, but I don't want to
lay more than three. And you know, the drag defense
has been a problem all year long. They allow the
(26:33):
most explosive pass plays in the league, twenty yards or
more per play. You know, Houston's problem is. Obviously they're
given up a bunch of sacks. They've given up the
fourth most in the league this year, but they also
have also generated the second most as well. My numbers
do support Houston here, if you know, we can get
(26:53):
this number down to three. If it doesn't, if it
stays the three and a half, I won't play anything here.
But the Jags have been horrible from line of scrimmage.
They're minus eight and that turnovers. Houston's about average, and
you know from the line of scrimmage, but they have
been plus nine and turnovers and they are generating turnovers,
which has helped him. I would lay it if I
could get get three with Houston. Otherwise it's a stay
(27:13):
away from me.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
All right. Another game I haven't fired on yet, but
it would be another team getting points at home. The
Saints used to be an auto play for me, Scott.
Whenever an under five hundred team after November was laying
points on the road, it was an auto feed for me.
The Rams laying three at the Saints under the new
Darren Rizzy era, I want to give the Saints. The
(27:35):
Saints a state of execution for now, believing at least
they believe that they're not out of this thing yet,
and when they bring their best, they're not that bad.
I would only lean Saints here. Haven't done it yet,
your thoughts.
Speaker 5 (27:48):
I have played the Rams here. It's the numbers play
for me. Lay the two and a half. Obviously the Saints, though,
I mean that the coaching change there has made a
world of difference for them, and they are playing very
well obviously for the Rams, and again, it was the
numbers play for me more than anything. But they are
going to be healthy in the offensive line. Looks like
rob havingt seams back, so I think this might be
(28:10):
the first time this year that they've had all of
their offensive line starters here. Saints could be down their
center Eric McCoy, which would hurt them a little bit
as well. And you know Saints got some obviously other
injuries that they've injured all year long. And of course
if the Rams can get that offensive line back, obviously
they've got Cup and Nikool back as well. So the
(28:31):
numbers against support of the Rams here, so I laid it.
I won't lay anything more than three, but we're at
two and a half right now, so I'm on the
Rams in this game, and I don't you know I've
gone against I went against the Rams last week. I've
gone against them a number of times. I think it's
more so just the injuries on the Saints right now
that have kind of propped my numbers up on the Rams.
Speaker 2 (28:50):
In this game, Scott two more. We got a couple
of minutes, but they're important games. Buffalo hosting the Niners.
They're laying seven. The Niners are emerging. This trendy pick,
but you know, I trust my eyes. They tell me
a lot. The Niners just aren't buttoned up this year
for multiple reasons. They got gashed by twenty eight points
(29:10):
last week in Green Bay total team loss. The Niners
turned it over three times. At one point, they led
by ten. They committed nine penalties, one of them wiped
out the Deebo Samuel touchdown. But I'm not gonna hurry
to lay the seven either with Buffalo.
Speaker 4 (29:25):
Your thoughts on that game, Yeah, well, it looks like
perty's gonna play.
Speaker 5 (29:29):
Now, and the line came down from seven to six.
I did play the Niners at plus six today. I
would also lean over.
Speaker 6 (29:37):
Now.
Speaker 5 (29:37):
We know there's a huge winter storm coming, but I
think I think I'm gonna wait on that until we
have confirmation, but it looks like that snow is gonna
stop by game time. Wins do not look bad, so
I think it's a fairly low total of all that
whole jump. But I kind of like the Niners here.
You know, Buffalo has been above average from the line
of scrimmage and plus fourteen and turnovers, so they're playing
(29:58):
very well, and like you said, Bernie, are just off
and I kind of throw that game out last week
and Brandon Allen was a quarterback and that that changed everything.
They're not going to have Trent Williams this week again,
so they're missing him. They're missing somebody, you know, Leonor
in the secondary. I think they are going to get
ward back in the secondary, which is very helpful. He's
been out for a while now after the death of
(30:19):
his child. So, but the Niners are second best in
the league in net yards for play for the line
of scrimmage, they're just neutral in that turnovers, but they
haven't generated anything. They're they're turning the ball over, not
getting the turnovers necessarily. But this is a lot of
points and Buffalo's run defense is not real good. I
think San Francisco is going to be able to run
(30:40):
the ball here a little bit. I don't love what
Trent Williams being out. They're also going to be missing
Eric Banks.
Speaker 7 (30:44):
So that's not good.
Speaker 5 (30:46):
But I see a little bit of value in San
Francisco here, and if we get the right weather conditions
here with no wind and snow, it's really not that
big of a deal in a game, I would probably
fire in the over forty four and a half as well.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
She's got about a minute. But if there's only one
game I could watch, it would be Philadelphia Baltimore, the
Eagles catching three, and I didn't overthink this game. It's
just the way the Eagles run the ball, and I
understand Baltimore's ability and explosive plays, but I don't like
the back half of that defense. And if they load
up the box to stop Saquon, I think Philly could
(31:20):
have a day. I actually like Philly here plus the three.
Am I right or wrong?
Speaker 5 (31:25):
I think you're right, especially if Devonte Smith plays, and
that's kind of a key, and we don't know if
he's going to play. I did play the over in
this game. I played both Philadelphia and Baltimore over last.
Speaker 8 (31:35):
Week, and Philadelphia, you know as much as.
Speaker 5 (31:37):
They like to run the ball, when they get into
a game like this, even the Rams game is like
that last week, but certainly against Baltimore where they know
they're going to have to score. They're not going to
run the clock down and eat clock. They know they
have to score. Kind of like I mean, obviously different
coaching staff here now, but kind of like what we
saw in the Super Bowl, you know, six seven years
ago against New England. They had it up it a
(31:59):
little bit. So I think there's going to be plenty
of points in this game. My never support that. To
your point, the Ravens allow the second most explosive plays
in the league, and they also generate the fourth most
exposive play, so we know they're going to generate plays
and give up the plays, like you said. And if
I know DeVante Smith's playing, and this thing, you know,
(32:19):
it's three to two and a half depending on where
you look. But if I know Smith is playing and
I can get the plus three, I will definitely be
on the Eagles as well. Right now, I'm on the
over and leaning towards the Eagles. If we can get
confirmation on Smith's playing.
Speaker 2 (32:33):
Scott great stuff. I want to get you on the playoffs. Start.
Tell the folks where they can find your stuff.
Speaker 5 (32:39):
At sixth Sense, NFL, on EPs or Twitter, whatever you
want to call it. And also in the Las Vegas
Review Journal. We've got five picks in there every single week.
It's been a great year thirty seven, twenty two and one,
and hopefully we'll continue that the rest of the season
as well.
Speaker 2 (32:54):
All right, good stuff, buddy, We'll see you soon.
Speaker 5 (32:56):
All right, thanks, Berne, appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (32:58):
Scott Kelling six cent Sports last Figuess Review Journal. Obviously
you can see the amount of research he does. Great thought.
He's got his finger very much on the pulse. Coming up,
we are going to set up the Midnight Hour, which

(33:22):

six six three sixty nine. We have kind of a
Thanksgiving smorgasboard here three or four top that you can
pick the one you like, or you can weighing on
the rant, right, but we'll share that coming up. We'll
always look forward to the midnight hour on Friday nights

Hll right back on the Bernie Frattle Show, Fox Sports
Radio Comedy Live from the tirerac dot com studios here
in Las Vegas. We are eleven minutes away from twelve
midnight here in Las Vegas, literally, which means it is
the Midnight Hour eight seven seven nine nine six six
three six nine eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
(34:47):
Callers have been spectacular. I expect tonight to be no different.
Plenty of choices. I'm gonna start with a new college
football playoff format. Now, make no mistake, I love this.
I love It's twelve teams. We've gone from three playoff
games to eleven now I mean eleven playoff games. Except
there may be a flaw and the ointment. It turns
out that if you give the top four seeds a
(35:09):
bye to the conference champs, regardless of their rank, it
now makes the fifth seed more attractive than the number
one seed. So how do they fix this? I have
some thoughts, but I don't want to steal your thunder.
It's all projections until selection Sunday, December eighth. They'll be
the second to the last this Tuesday and then Sunday,
December eighth. But Tuesday nights College Football Playoff Committee reveal
(35:34):
of their current top twenty five. There's an egregious defect
in the design of the bracket. Basically, if the playoffs
began today, the number five seed would enjoy a home
game against Arizona State in the first round, followed by
a neutral site bull matchup against number four seed Boise State.
They'd be heavily favored in both games. After a first
round by the number one seed would draw the winner
(35:56):
of Georgia Tennessee quarterfinals. Really, that's a tough matchup against
the loaded defense, traditional powers and a massive fan base.
This is a big time disparity. So the architects of
the playoff have created a scenario. Then a matchup of
number one versus number two in a conference championship game
like Oregon versus Ohio State this year, both teams their fans.
(36:19):
They have actually incentive to lose. It takes the top
five seed. Okay, just hold that thought. Do you like
the college football playoff format? It's better than it was before,
but it's not gonna be perfect. Do you like it?
Do you not like it? Would you change it? Was
it better before?
Speaker 9 (36:36):
Listen?
Speaker 2 (36:37):
As I've always said, the most boring conversations are the
ones when everybody agrees. And keep in mind, I don't
advocate anybody try to lose, and it may not happen
this year. Look, Ryan Day and Dan Lanning both need
to show they can win a league championship It's not
hard to envision a future where a crafty coach might
rest as starters and angle for the five seed. Trust me,
(36:58):
you saw what Dan Lanning did her in the year
by putting twelve men on the field. These guys know
what's going on, they know the drill. This is gonna
be a playoff marathon over four weeks. And it's still
kind of made for TV Invitational tournament a little bit.
But at least the stupid thing last year you had
five Power conferences in four spots. You had an undefeated
team that wasn't let in a Florida State, and I
(37:19):
know and I understand there was a clause for injury,
but at the same time, that wouldn't happen this year.
The one thing I do like about this format is
championship based, So if you win your league, you're getting in.
You're gonna be rewarded the four Power school, the Power
four Conferences, the Big Ten, the ACC, the Big twelve.
(37:42):
In the SEC they're getting in and then a at
large from the remaining which you probably be like a
Boise State. The second thing, did you see knucklehead Aaron
Rodgers Tuesday talking again saying he's not sure if he
wants to come back, but he was first choice to
be the Jets, and YadA YadA yah. You know, he's
like that steam with Steve Carell. I was gonna make
myself a tune of Sandwich and then I got tired
(38:03):
and I laid down. Shut up? Do you does anybody
want this guy back in the NFL next year? I don't.
I can't think of a single NFL team that would
sign him, and I'm ninety four point seven percent sure
he's not going back to the Jets. Do you want
to see Aaron Rodgers back? Does anybody want to see
him back? Maybe you do, Maybe you don't. I want
to know why. I'm just telling you I don't. Have
you had enough of this guy? All right? By the way,
(38:28):
we also have the rant you can rant. You know
you are the Chiefs overrated? Are the Lions in trouble?
Who's in trouble? Anything you want to rant about? Now?
You might think I'm joking here, and maybe this is
partly tongue in cheek, but the NBA is tinkering with
things to spice up their All Star game. I said
this last week and it got some attention. I'd like
(38:50):
to see they're talking about bringing in Caitlin Clark for something.
You know they haven't. They're not to that point yet,
but they're talking about it. How about if Kaitlyn Clark
faces off against Bronnie James in a three point twoty contest.
They've told us he's a legitimate NBA prospect. Hey, let's
do it. It's all in fun. Come on, I am dead serious.
(39:11):
Hear me out on that. So all right, you got
several choices. It's Thanksgiving, It's it's boring sport, the college
football Playoff? Do you like it? Give me your thoughts,
Aaron Rodgers, you want them back? Yes? Or no? You're
sick of them? You worried about the Chiefs. They overrated
the Lions, YadA yah. And how about Caitlin Clark versus
Bronnie James or maybe you have an NBA All Star
idea because what's going on right now isn't working and
(39:32):
you know it. Eight seven seven nine nine six six
three six nine, dial them up. It is the midnight
hour on the Bernie Frawdle Show. Keep it locked. You're
listening Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (39:43):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (39:46):
That's right. You heard the band Bernie Fradle Show keeps

to hear from you. A smorgasbord of Thanksgiving, smorgasbord of topics.
College football playoff, Aaron Rodgers, Durant, you name it. It's
all about you. Yup's time. It's midnight hour. Hey here,
here we go. Let's head up to Berkeley, California. And
it's welcome and Mark Mark get us started tonight. Good evening.
Speaker 3 (40:30):
Oh, I want your serious opinions.
Speaker 8 (40:32):
You think if we can beat Buffalo, we can turn
this around, or the forty.
Speaker 3 (40:35):
Nine is done?
Speaker 2 (40:37):
Well, No, I don't think they're done. It's their DNA.
Mark is still there. They've been you know, overwrought with injuries.
They haven't been buttoned up on characteristic penalties, on characteristic turnovers.
They didn't have Christian McCaffrey for most of the year,
So yes, I would not. I would not bury them yet, Mark, no,
(40:57):
we have sound like an idiot. Yes, I would not
bury them. Terrible. You know what I was trying to say?
Go ahead?
Speaker 3 (41:03):
If we had Detroit in Kansas City, who do you
think is gonna win.
Speaker 10 (41:07):
That Super Bowl?
Speaker 2 (41:11):
Boy that it's going to be played in New Orleans,
I would I would lean Detroit. I would lean Detroit
because of their offensive firepower.
Speaker 11 (41:18):
We're thinking, can I ask you one quiz that I
gave then the first time I talked.
Speaker 10 (41:22):
To him, and see how you do?
Speaker 2 (41:23):
You gave It's got to be quick.
Speaker 7 (41:25):
Ben the first I gave him his quiz and we're.
Speaker 2 (41:28):
Gonna play stump swab huh? Go ahead, real quickly, really simple.
Speaker 10 (41:32):
Who had the four to twenty game winners in the
Major League?
Speaker 2 (41:35):
Well, is the Baltimore Orioles back in? So Pat Dot Yeah, sure,
Jim Palmer, David McNally, yeah, Hey, Mark, don't.
Speaker 3 (41:44):
Be a stranger.
Speaker 2 (41:46):
Mike kair And and Pat Doobson was the fourth. I
believe he's Mark on. Okay, Marks, pretty good? All right,
we're having a bad we're having a bad phone issue,
but I appreciate you calling in and don't be a stranger.
We do this every Friday night on Fox Sports Radio
Friday night at midnight Pacific time. Legally Blind Christopher from
(42:12):
North Carolina. Hey, welcome back in. How are I man
doing very well?
Speaker 11 (42:16):
Bernie. I'm a happy belated Thanksgiving forgot to wish.
Speaker 2 (42:19):
That to you on your last All right, right back
at you.
Speaker 11 (42:22):
Thanks sir. Listen, I want to tell you something I'm
really glad to see for the first time. Aaron Rodgers
suffering consequences of opening his mouth because for years Green
Bay would cater to this man at all costs, and
he did everything he could to win the way he
wanted to. Now he realizes the moment he opens his
(42:42):
mouth and demands things, he's not as good as he
thinks he was. Now. Don't get me wrong, he is
a first Ballad Hall of Famer.
Speaker 10 (42:50):
I don't disagree about that.
Speaker 5 (42:52):
The man is extremely talented.
Speaker 11 (42:54):
But it goes to show you just the way, like
Brett ferb was, you open your mouth thinking you are
the best something. Sooner or later there's going to be
somebody down the road that's better than you are, and
you're going to pay for it, and I'm so glad
to see him pay for it. As a Lions fan
for many many years.
Speaker 2 (43:10):
Yeah, hey, I remember those years he'd come through Detroit
and torch him. And you bring up a good point,
he's a Hall of famer. We can hold two thoughts concurrently.
But we were told all last year all Green Bay
needed was a quarterback, that's it, and they gave him
everything he wanted. Whatever Aaron Rodgers Aaron gets. He got
his receivers, he got a coach, fire and right down
down the line, anything else.
Speaker 11 (43:30):
Christopher Well, I only want to make one other point
because I was since I sleep during all the college
football games, I really appreciate your take on where things
are headed. I think the biggest thing about the college
football playoffs it's similar to like the NFL playoffs. If
you're really good at a division and you play really well,
you suffer the consequences. And what I mean by that
is this the SEC is it's still the toughest division
(43:53):
in college football.
Speaker 10 (43:54):
Would you agree?
Speaker 2 (43:56):
I think, based on the NFL talent that I give
him the edge with the big and then top to
bottom I do week in week out, they kind of
cannibalize each other. Yeah, I do agree with that.
Speaker 11 (44:07):
See, this is where the problem lies. The Big Ten
is a joke. Yes, there's a couple of good teams
in it, but it's not as strong as it has been.
So when you take a look at the Big four,
what you really have is the sec being penalized where
they have some really good teams in the long run.
It's similar like the NFL. Oh, we've finished really strong
in our division, but based on how they do the
(44:27):
playoff matchups, I suffer the consequences and the same thing
will happen here. But this is the best the fans
are going to get, and I really appreciate that they
have this opportunity, and more importantly, I really appreciate how
you approach it and keep us in performed about where
this is going to head, especially as it relates to
either betting, but more importantly, how it can affect all
of us to enjoy the game. I love what you do,
(44:49):
love your show. Thank you so much, Bernie.
Speaker 2 (44:51):
Thanks for the kind of words, and I will have
updates Saturday. By the way, ever so quickly to Mark
and Berkeley, we got jumbled up there. It's a great
trivia question was the seventy one Oriels, Jim Palmer, Day McNally,
Mike Quare and Pat Dopson. I wasn't sure if he
told me I had dops right, I knew I did.
Kyrie reminds me the trivia question. All four MVPs AFL
NFL National League, American League in nineteen sixty five, all
(45:14):
Ward number thirty two, all right, onward and upward, Jeremy
and Nebraska joins us, Hey, thanks for checking in. What
have we got tonight?
Speaker 12 (45:23):
Well?
Speaker 6 (45:23):
I grew up in the house with my stepdaddy being
a Green Bay packer ball washer, and I've been a
lifelong Detroit Lions fan. So this is probably the greatest
season of my life. And I can tell you what.
(45:43):
I had a next girlfriend that loved The Bachelor, and
I can't tell you how much Right now I would
rather have Jordan Rodgers and Jojo back is to never
see Aaron Rodgers in the league again.
Speaker 2 (45:54):
Now is it part of Okay? We know all those
years I mean Stafford death taxes and Stafford going into
Green Band losing he couldn't do crap there, But what's
bugging me about Aaron Rodgers? Who turns I think forty
one Monday, and that means nothing to me. Brady won
three super Bowls after forty. It's his attitude is arrogance,
(46:14):
is you know, his holier than now, which is shut
up manere. That's where I'm weighing in on this.
Speaker 6 (46:20):
Your thoughts, Bernie, you and me are right on the
same page on that this guy can just go away.
Speaker 2 (46:28):
Yeah, he speaks in platitudes now, and what quarterback would
get up there? You've got games to win this season,
yet you're being paid, you're with the Jets. We don't
care if you come back next year or not, or
who you'd rather be with. And it's not up to you.
It's really not up to you. Erin all right, anything else?
Speaker 6 (46:45):
But well, I'm just gonna say, as a Lion fan,
I'm also a Baltimore Oriole fan, and this last eighteen
months has probably been the greatest year and a half
of my forty four years of life.
Speaker 2 (46:59):
We're all thank you so much. We're all enjoying the ride.
And let's see where it ends up. And uh, it's
not easy to win the super Bowl or even get
to one. Len and San Diego, Hey, what's up, buddy?
Two weeks Canario. Good to hear from you, Bernie.
Speaker 10 (47:15):
When you on, I'm gonna definitely check in man for sure.
So I hope you had a great holiday too.
Speaker 2 (47:21):
I did same to you.
Speaker 10 (47:23):
Awesome.
Speaker 2 (47:24):
Hey.
Speaker 10 (47:25):
I don't know a lot about how the college football
thing works, but my thing is growing up playing sports,
you win, you get rewarded. So like, if you got
a nice record, I want to see you stay in there.
But they shafted what the Florida State last.
Speaker 2 (47:41):
Year they did well or something they did and that
wouldn't have happened under this format. And that's that's a
key point, because they won't there.
Speaker 10 (47:48):
Yeah, go ahead, no, okay, because you know more about
it than I do, and you you're thorough at what
you do. So like I'm glad they're changing it. Then,
So like, if you're undefeated, to me, you deserve to
be in.
Speaker 2 (48:02):
I don't care Well's championship base not to cut you off.
Here's the flaw. Last year he had four spots and
five power conferences. So Florida State wins their conference, they
go undefeated, they're left out in the cold because their
quarterback got hurt and there was a clause that a
major injury could enable the committee to make an adjustment
this year. Let's say last year was this year. Well,
(48:25):
Florida State would be in because you win the ACC
and you're undefeated. I don't care if you got Billy
Bardy a quarterback. You're in because it's championship base. But
there are other flaws.
Speaker 10 (48:34):
Go ahead, Lynn, Okay, yeah, I'm glad you're explaining that.
So it should be better than Is that what you're
telling me, Bernie.
Speaker 2 (48:42):
Well, we're going to see eleven playoff games, a total
of eleven games, so it's going to be a gauntlet.
You're gonna have some teams are gonna have to win
three games, some teams are gonna have to win four games.
Some teams might only have to win three games. But
it's not going to be so easy. You're gonna have
to bring it every.
Speaker 10 (48:56):
Week, beautiful. That's what it's all about bringing and if
you win, you get rewarded. Don't don't punish people for
doing what they're supposed to do, and that's win.
Speaker 2 (49:08):
Do you have anything on Aaron Rodgers, Lynn.
Speaker 13 (49:10):
I do.
Speaker 10 (49:10):
I always got something on Aaron Rodgers. Say it with me, Bernie.
What kind of brand new food are you?
Speaker 2 (49:15):
I love it? Oh I love it.
Speaker 10 (49:17):
Yes, Hey, listen, Bernie, if.
Speaker 9 (49:22):
You got hurt last year and you were in the NFL,
you come back this year, thisimal season.
Speaker 10 (49:28):
Would you be running your mouth and talking and acting
like it's about you?
Speaker 6 (49:33):
Not?
Speaker 2 (49:33):
No hell?
Speaker 10 (49:34):
No, okay, so shut the hell up?
Speaker 2 (49:37):
Exactly exactly what do we do if Pat McAfee gives it.
I wonder if he's paid to be on the show.
And I don't care because frankly don't watch it with
all due respect, but look, they went seven games last
year and they said, trying to imagine if we had
a quarterback insert Aaron Rodgers, they're way worse.
Speaker 13 (49:55):
Worse, And yes, sir, and he's talking like we worried
about where the hell he's gonna go and light the
doors open with the Jets.
Speaker 9 (50:04):
Like you ain't doing nothing over there? Why would they
want you back anyway?
Speaker 2 (50:07):
Exactly right? And I think he's been a severe distraction
at this point, the head coaches getting and the GM's gone.
You gotta broom the whole damn.
Speaker 10 (50:14):
Thing now, I no shit, U sometimes already Hey, listen
before you go, why'd you pick Bronnie? He can't shoot.
He's gonna get embarrassed.
Speaker 2 (50:23):
Aget. Well, okay, it's tongue in cheek win. But if
I'm being honest, it's they're telling us he's an NBA prospect,
so stop telling us and show us. That's all I'm saying. Hey, man,
I gotta listen. I got a BS meter an old
school's my alma mater, man, so let's keep it real
one time, have a little fun. Pay the kid. I
(50:46):
got nothing against Bronnie. He's a good kid, but stop
peeing on my shoes and telling me it's raining. Can
we can we one time?
Speaker 10 (50:54):
Thank you, Bernie, because there's not about that. If I
knew Brunn and his dad, I would love those guys.
But if you're gonna be trying to be in a
class act organization, you gotta be class act talent. That's
all I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (51:09):
I love Lebron, Yeah, love, I got no thanks so much,
Lynn as always, Look, I have no beef at all.
Lebron's got enough soid equity in this league. He wants
his son to play, fine, let him do it. They
did it. They made history. He was manufactured history, but
they made history. I'm okay with it. But now you're
trying to tell me he's a bona fide NBA player
(51:29):
or a bona fide prospect not buying it. And as
far as Aaron Rodgers, Lynn couldn't have said any better.
Someone needs to poor Aaron Rodgers a big old glass.
Shut up, Juice, Big Mike, Dave and Phoenix, Big Mike, Caroline.

Hey, Bernie, love your Now.
Speaker 8 (53:01):
I know, uh which teams I stand the best to
win some money on this weekend?
Speaker 10 (53:06):
Thank you?
Speaker 2 (53:07):
All right?
Speaker 8 (53:07):
Good luck you or Baltimore Fans Part two of Trivia
and uh did they win a World Series?
Speaker 3 (53:16):
Of course they didn't. The Pittsburgh Pirates.
Speaker 2 (53:19):
That's right, baby, that's right.
Speaker 8 (53:22):
Bob Moose, Mutt Kat Grant, Bob beal And who pitched
the final two innings of Hitler's Ball for the Pittsburgh Pirates,
Dave Justy and getting his second World Series. Bring the
great one, the most benevolent of them all. And you
say it, you know it.
Speaker 7 (53:44):
Who is the turning who is the one the MVP
of that world series.
Speaker 10 (53:51):
For the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Speaker 2 (53:54):
Roberto Clemente last time he ever played, and it was
sad and just he was basically unhittable. And they you know,
I think Danny Murtaw was a manager. They beat a
very good Baltimore team. All right, continue on what do
we got for you tonight, big big guy will I will.
Speaker 8 (54:13):
Echo everything that you said everybody said negatively about Aaron
Rodgers without any caveats.
Speaker 7 (54:21):
And in addition, I would say that he can take
some hiawatha and.
Speaker 2 (54:26):
And he can go to a dark room in Egypt.
Speaker 8 (54:31):
Go to Egypt.
Speaker 14 (54:32):
And Hiawatha was also mentioned by at the Tyson fight,
his opponent talked about taking hiawatha. And anyway, you did
make a reference to Billy Barty. It probably went over
most people's heads because they're a little bit younger. But
(54:52):
it was my job when I was a just in
my early twenties to be the attendant for Billy Barty
at the Los Angeles Police celebrity Tournament. So whatever Billy wanted,
I got for him.
Speaker 8 (55:06):
So that was nice.
Speaker 2 (55:07):
See you don't see I do that intentionally, regardless of
age or era. I've always had a saying, hey, I
wouldn't have live during the War of eighteen twelve. Pick
up a damn book people education as an activist pursued,
do it? I do that on purpose? You picked up
on it, Big Mike. I intentionally do that kind of stuff. Okay.
(55:27):
I mean I could have said pee wee Herman god rested.
I can get down with the cool current hift stuff,
but I want to, you know, I like a thought
pro working audience. Are anything else, Mike?
Speaker 7 (55:37):
I on eberflus. Miriam Webster and Alexa have already added
iberflus into their Alexa con As a matter of fact,
if you asked Alexa what eberflus is, it is now
an adjective.
Speaker 8 (55:56):
If you eber flew something.
Speaker 7 (55:58):
Yes you can, and I will play Alexa.
Speaker 8 (56:01):
Now, Alexa, here we go, eber flutes, eber fluess going
out of the other one.
Speaker 2 (56:13):
All right, to tell you what? Save that a material
for next week. We'll have you back on. I just
got to get to all these callers, Big Mike, thanks
a lot for checking in, But yes, he needs to
be eber flused. You've been eber flused. It's making the rounds.
Dave in Phoenix. I'm sure you're waiting with baited breath
in nine hours from now the Michigan Ohio State Little
football game. But anyway, I digress what you got tonight.
Speaker 15 (56:36):
Actually, I've been to six Michigan Ohio State games in Columbus.
Michigan has five wins in a tie. But I will
not be in Columbus tomorrow because that would ruin my record,
my undefeated record.
Speaker 3 (56:47):
Yeah, yep, yep, I will say this.
Speaker 15 (56:51):
I think you had one little mistake. You don't make many.
But Clement, he played one more year in seventy two.
Speaker 2 (56:56):
Oh he did. It was New Year's EVA seventy two.
You're right on the mission down to yes, yes, yes.
Speaker 15 (57:03):
And by the way, you asked a great trivia question
about the four number thirty twos in nineteen sixty five.
Speaker 10 (57:10):
I know three of them.
Speaker 15 (57:11):
I know Kofax, I know Zoli Oversize, I know Jim Brown,
and I'm just going to guess without looking it up.
For the AFL was his name, Jim Nance?
Speaker 2 (57:22):
It was Cookie it was Cookie Gilchrist. Oh, okay, okay,
Cookie gil Christ. Yeah, that's a.
Speaker 15 (57:26):
Great question, all right, I do want to comment on
both the college football Playoff and the NBA All Star Game.
So twelve team twelve team playoff. I love the twelve
team playoff. It's been long overdue. I do recognize your point,
which is a great point, that the number five seed
would seem to have an advantage over the number one seed.
But I still think Ohio State and Oregon are going
(57:48):
to play really hard and try to win that baseball
of course game of course right now here, think about it.
Now here's something think about, Bunnie. I wouldn't call myself
a Big Ten homer. I realized the Big Ten has
four good teams and then fourteen mediocre to bad teams.
I will say this though, when the tournament gets down
to the final four, don't be surprised if there's three
(58:12):
Big Ten teams remaining, and that would be the one
seed and the five seed, whichever won between Ohio State
and Oregon, whoever's the one whoever is the five because
the one seed has to beat the eight to nine winner,
which will be tough, but they'll be favored. The five seed,
as you said, will probably have to beat the Group
of five team and the Big twelve champ and then
(58:32):
Penn State. They get the sixth seed, they have to
beat the eleven seed and then the three which is
probably the ACC champion.
Speaker 2 (58:39):
But here's the seal. It's all going to change in
the next ten days. We know it's going to so
you know this is all fun. Yeah, it's all fun
and games, all right, Anything quickly on Aaron Rodgers, Nothing
on all the callers, right.
Speaker 15 (58:51):
Nothing on Aaron Rodgers. But on the NBA All Star Game,
which can become a first What about the possibility of
playing the American born against the foreign born.
Speaker 2 (59:01):
Players that's been suggested, America versus the world. The problem
and is we'll talk to this, Mark Mendina against Saturday Night.
These guys don't want to compete. So any any format
with which you would put a game on the floor,
I don't care who it's against, but if it's a
real game, they don't want to compete. They don't want
to play hard, they don't want to take a chance
on getting hurt. That's the issue. Whether it's East versus West,
(59:24):
rookies versus what blah blah blah blah, World versus USA,
they don't want to compete. They don't want to play
in a real hard game, That's my answer.
Speaker 15 (59:33):
Well, maybe maybe that format could inspire them, especially if
you throw in some good money for the winners.
Speaker 2 (59:39):
Well that's been talked about too, but I think they
need to go the way to the Pro Bowl. Great
stuff day may check in next week. We'll see where
Michigan's at. Tony down in Miami. Hey Tony, nice to
hear from you. Have been a minute, Hey Bernie, how
you doing.
Speaker 16 (59:52):
I don't really have any any I grew up delivering
brob Arker and Mitch album on the and the free
press in the Lions, So I'm really it's kind of
I'm in Miami, but my roots are there, so I
don't I just kind of. I don't have angst against
(01:00:14):
Aaron Rodgers because to me, the real, the real, the
real smoke was from really you know, Michael Jordan coached
Detroit in a way that I would say, uh, you know,
once he got over, once he broke it. It's just,
you know, the nineties were owned by the bulls, right Aaron,
Aaron Rodgers and a whole lot of other quarterbacks would
(01:00:38):
taunt the uh the Lions for for what they were.
But I will say this, and I let you get
your other callers. I think the Lions to your guests
from the last hour, I think they're not They're they're not.
They don't really It's great to see them doing what
they're doing, but I don't think they I think they're
in a bunch of the NFC, and it's it's the
(01:00:58):
top four. I think it's the too in their division, Minnesota,
Green Bay and then Philly and I think once week
at January, all those teams can play anywhere at any
given Sunday kind of kicks in and I could see
them losing, possibly in the division round, maybe in the
NFC Championship. So I'm not really hung up on that.
And I'll let you go. Before I let you go,
(01:01:18):
I've got a special treat my wife from Nicaragua. We
just wanted to say something real quick.
Speaker 15 (01:01:24):
I beg me, I love you, thank you, appreciate all
your listenership, Tony.
Speaker 2 (01:01:31):
Great stuff, And by the way, I can't let you go.
As you know, I spent seventeen years Introit and did
probably two hundred shows with Rob Parker on ninety seven
one and Mark Wilson. I know Mitch as well. Did
you ever know Shelby Struther. No, was he a writer
for the Yeah, he passed away. He was a brilliant, brilliant, brilliant, Right,
(01:01:52):
he was a writer for the Free Press. Yeah he
did an I'm on real job covering the Bad Boys.
A teams of eighty eight, eighty nine and ninety.
Speaker 16 (01:02:00):
Still have some of those classic papers.
Speaker 2 (01:02:02):
I mean in the box, but I mean, at one
time the best sports section in America. I'm not kidding you.
It was that good, yes, because you get a four
that you had Detroit of four major sports team and
two college teams right around the corner, two Big ten teams,
best sports down in America. All right, Tony, thanks so much. Man,
we'll hear from you again. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls.
(01:02:25):
Wake the neighbors, Grandpa, put on pants and look the kids.
Wake them up. It is time for Manuel from Guardina. Man, Well,
what's happening, buddy?
Speaker 3 (01:02:34):
He's going to wait till the midnight out because I
just want a celebrat. Hey, Bernie Strado is on the
blow torch, Ham five seventy and all of Fox Sports,
and I'm here for it, damn it.
Speaker 10 (01:02:51):
How you doing Burns, hey man?
Speaker 2 (01:02:53):
Anybody that's willing to sing like that, and you know
Simon Call might be listening million people who six hundred affiliates,
serious sex and eighty three. Like I said, Manuel, you
got balls. I don't want to see him, but I
know you got all right. I'll tell you what, man,
Well you got a Thanksgiving smorgasboard. Dive into any of
these topics.
Speaker 3 (01:03:13):
Well, you know where we're gonna start. We're gonna start
with that.
Speaker 1 (01:03:18):
In green Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:03:20):
You know, like when you were going like one of
the collegs made a good point. You're hurt all year.
You know, you play six snaps, then you want to
come back shouting off first off last November, remember playing
that game. Oh I might come back, might.
Speaker 2 (01:03:37):
Be right, you know, crap in Green Bay too exactly.
Speaker 3 (01:03:43):
So then now fast forwards and poor Sola man. I
mean nobody's you know, accusing the guy of being newt
Rockney or freaking George Allie or anything. But I mean
he's a pretty solid coach. He was kissed off. I
had like Aaron Rodgers, you know the time, this is
a whole year, and then he can't even get there
(01:04:04):
to the mini camps, you know as well as I
do Bernie the mini camps are imperative offensive timing with receivers.
Speaker 10 (01:04:14):
Yep, and we.
Speaker 3 (01:04:15):
Saw that very early on that was rearing it doesn't
he had it and he didn't show up and he
wasn't performing right. But quick to point the finger at
this guy, that guy and even aunt Shally in the
first row.
Speaker 13 (01:04:29):
You know.
Speaker 3 (01:04:29):
So, man, it's just time for this guy to go
to the way of Dandy Don Meredith, turn out the lights,
the parties over. I wish it was that simple, though, Bernie,
because you know as well as I do the pumpkin haircut.
It freak is gonna be trying to get him. Under contrast,
(01:04:50):
even though Davante's probably over there counting uns. That would
be the worst idea ever. But you know, this guy
is an attention or he doesn't.
Speaker 10 (01:04:59):
Want to go.
Speaker 3 (01:05:00):
So if the Raiders put the money out there or
any other these you know organizations they are in absolute
dire or need of a QB, he's gonna take it.
And we're gonna see this as show for another twelve
month or twenty four months maybe. So it just sucks, man,
because the NFL is king and we are all the gestures.
Speaker 2 (01:05:22):
Oh yeah, I'm here for it. I'm a slappy, great stuff.
Has always been well appreciate. You enjoy your weekend, and look,
I gave it a ninety four point seven percent chance.
Aaron Rodgers's not back at the NFL next year. And look,
part of it is the d bag factor because he
just won't shut up. I don't like it anymore. And
he can't play anymore. Okay, talk to any Scott, talk
to any NFL analyst. He can no longer maneuver around
(01:05:45):
the pocket, he can't escape the pocket. He's lost lateral movement,
he's lost arm strength, and he's either lost the ability
to throw the ball downfield or he just refuses to
throw downfield. And he's refused medical scans. He's got an
injury rumored to be his hamstring. The guy is just
become a diva. And you know what, when you've been
when he was performing and winning MVPs, that was bad enough.
(01:06:07):
You see, you can't be an arrogant in life. But
if you're gonna be and you're an idiot, that's a
bad party it. He can't be arrogant and an idiot.
People aren't going for that. And I'm sorry Aaron Rodgers
has reached that level and I know he made a
point here. I don't give an ish what people think
about it.
Speaker 6 (01:06:21):
Me.
Speaker 2 (01:06:21):
Yes, you do, you absolutely do you do? All right?
Doug in San Diego, Thanks for your patience.
Speaker 12 (01:06:27):
You're up next, my guy iolic friend Bernie.
Speaker 2 (01:06:31):
How are you good, buddy? Thank you.
Speaker 12 (01:06:35):
I'll tell you what. I got a few things here,
but let's start with Aaron airing it out isn't his
deal anymore. He can't air it out anymore. No, No,
the only think you'd do is photos a little screamed
to each side. It's amazing to me. That's all he
can do. And it's almost embarrassing the course, but he
goes deep and then he blames somebody else to run
(01:06:57):
the wrong route. And another thing he's saying, Oh, me and.
Speaker 8 (01:07:02):
Follow are best friends.
Speaker 11 (01:07:04):
We talked every day.
Speaker 12 (01:07:07):
Salah hated he has gotcha and I guarantee it.
Speaker 2 (01:07:11):
Remember the bro hug on the sidelines. So Salah tried
to talk him up, and that's when they were winning.
Speaker 12 (01:07:16):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 6 (01:07:18):
That was sickening, pathetic, very embarrassing.
Speaker 10 (01:07:20):
You know what.
Speaker 12 (01:07:21):
Actually, I hope he comes back because he's worth a
lot of comic relief. And when you're doing a talk show.
You want something to talk about, you got.
Speaker 2 (01:07:28):
Aaron Rodgers, fair enough, Doug, anything else?
Speaker 12 (01:07:32):
The college playoff thing is huge, man, I love it.
The more the merrier.
Speaker 6 (01:07:38):
And it's not perfect.
Speaker 12 (01:07:39):
Hey, what's perfect?
Speaker 10 (01:07:41):
Man?
Speaker 12 (01:07:41):
Nothing is perfect, and the imperfections are the best part
of it. And I kind of would love to see
Colorado win the whole thing. Do you think they have
a chance if they got him they could win it all?
Speaker 16 (01:07:56):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:07:57):
No, I think the best they could is win one game. Yeah.
I think they'd be in trouble when they did. Yes,
we could maybe talk about this when we get closer.
But I certainly hope they get in because they give
top credit to Dion and what they've done. They were
a lot of fun to watch it. At the end
of the day, this is still a TV show.
Speaker 12 (01:08:14):
Hey, I loved your idea about the NBA All Star
Game needing a little you know, pumped up thing. I
think they should take their lead from the NFL that's
turned the Pro Bowl into a fiasco. Let's have flag
basketball played with big nurse balls.
Speaker 2 (01:08:32):
Paging Bob cost to basketball. Hey, good stuff, Doug, don't
be a stranger. Kyle and Vegas, You're up next. Thanks?
For hanging on.
Speaker 9 (01:08:39):
Hey, what's going on, Bernie? Longtime no talk.
Speaker 2 (01:08:43):
I remember you back in the day. Yeah, yeah, you
were one of the early adopters here then you went
on to walk about. It's nice to have you back
in the full Kyle.
Speaker 9 (01:08:52):
Hey, I appreciate it. I appreciate it. I listened to
the show last night, you know, I know you were
covering from a man un Yeah, and I didn't get
a chance to really listen to the whole show because
you weighed in on some really crucial topics about the
Bears that me and my moms was watching that game,
diehard Chicago fan, and me and her both said at
(01:09:15):
the thirty six second mark, was like, he's going to
get fired, and he should be fired rightfully. So, but
I got a fun fact for you.
Speaker 2 (01:09:21):
You ready go ahead.
Speaker 9 (01:09:23):
Bears have lost the same amount of ways that the
Broncos from last year lost blockfield goal, hel Mary, they
had a pick six walk off game, and the Bears
were I think the Bears were in competition as seeing
who's going to how they could the most possible way
is to lose the game this year, and they've lost
(01:09:44):
some of the most improbable games that they shouldn't have lost.
And don't get me wrong, we had a chance.
Speaker 10 (01:09:49):
We were in field goal range.
Speaker 9 (01:09:50):
Another player to call the time out. We're in field
goal range. That being said, that was my first topic
of issue. My second one is how about them running rebels.
They're ranked this year, they're going pretty well, though they're
not going to get into no playoffs or anything like that.
I think there may be two or three years away
from it, especially with all the turmoil that they had
(01:10:11):
at the beginning of the year where the quarterback went
at the nil money, they didn't give it to him,
he left, And look where the program is at right now.
They're ranked twenty third in the country. They're doing phenomenal.
Hats off to that group.
Speaker 10 (01:10:24):
And then, of course, my alma mater, what do you.
Speaker 9 (01:10:26):
Think Alabama rink set in this year's playoff?
Speaker 2 (01:10:30):
Well, unfortunately, I think they're just down the outside looking in.
Not It's the irony is you've put them in the playoffs.
They'd have a far better chance to winning the Colorado would,
but the committee just isn't simply going to reward a
three lonch team at this point unless you win the
win your conference championship, and so it's just the bummer
because they're a quality team and their strength to schedule
(01:10:52):
is eleventh and Indiana's is one hundred and sixth. So,
like the earlier caller said, the imperfections of that or
make it what will probably be spicy and interesting because
it gives us talking points exactly.
Speaker 9 (01:11:06):
Hey, but you know what, Bernie, I love you man,
continue all the hard work. I'm glad that I was
able to call in. Happy Thanksgiving, Happy Holidays to you
and your family. You gotta stay safe this year and
all the blessings to you.
Speaker 10 (01:11:18):
Brother.
Speaker 2 (01:11:19):
Hey, right back at you, Kyle, don't be a stranger
right when we started this year. You know, long time
ago Kyle was calling. He got busy. He got busy.
Now I know Neil was patient for a long time
in Minnesota. He couldn't hang on anymore. Neil, if you
want to dial back in eight seven seven ninety nine
one Fox eight seven seven nine nine six six three
sixty nine. We're going to continue on with this. I'll
(01:11:41):
share a couple of the things that Aaron Rodgers said
on the Pat McAfee show. But you get you get
the picture, okay, The way he purports himself, the way
he conducts himself in front of the cameras. Now, it's
getting to be maddening. And if the Jets were nine
to one, it would still be a little maddening. But
they're what two and nine? Yeah, not a good look.

Now we're back on the Bernie Frattle Show Fox Sports Radio,
coming to you live the Tarrat dot com studios. Here
Fox Sports Radio. It's the midnight hour and speaking of
way up north where the area gets cold, we welcome
in Neil in Minnesota. Neil, thanks for on back end.
What's up man?
Speaker 17 (01:13:02):
Well, I was going to suggest something to do with
the NBA all start, please, a team of players not
born in America against a team of players born in America,
taking the pride route. That's America sport. So a team
of Florida's could come in and beat the best team
born in America. You don't think we could build on
(01:13:24):
that somehow.
Speaker 2 (01:13:25):
Well they listen, they might. I mean, look at how
many MVPs have been foreign in the last few years.
The problem, Neil, because that's been suggested for a while
and we'd all like to see it. But it's going
to create that full on game atmosphere again that the
NBA players seem death to avoid because they don't want
to get hurts. So any scenario where you would create
(01:13:47):
a game that would be real competition, where there's incentive
to win, where you've got to actually play defense and
body up and get back on defense and play hard
and you know, communicate and switch and rotate. They don't
want to do it. They just don't want to compete.
For real during the NBA Star Weekend. So I don't
I'm not throwing cold water on your idea. It's just
what's the reality of where the NBA is and they're All.
Speaker 17 (01:14:10):
Star weekend, Pride would play a role?
Speaker 10 (01:14:14):
Say it again, please, Pride would not play a role
of that.
Speaker 2 (01:14:17):
You would you would think it already would have the
way they play that All Star Game. Have you seen
the All Star Game in the last few years, And
there were times when they really played their butt off
in the All Star Game, and and uh, Pride very
much played a role East versus West and play a
real old school.
Speaker 17 (01:14:34):
Of When you say old school that I had a
personal acquaintance who was old school and that would be
World Chamberlain.
Speaker 2 (01:14:40):
Yeah. Even even listen, even well into the nineties and
two thousands, the games we were very competitive, and uh,
and so anything nil and the college football playoff and
or Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 17 (01:14:53):
I'm sick of hearing about Aaron Rodgers. Well that's I'm
amoved because he can carry on something m's say.
Speaker 2 (01:15:03):
Wrong with him. Well, yeah, it's against a lot of practice.
I called you a lot of license. But I'm thinking,
I'm thinking there is something a little bit there when
you've made three hundred million dollars in your forty year
old grown ass man and you act the way you act,
so all right, Neil, appreciate you checking in. We do
this every Friday night at midnight Pacific time, and and
(01:15:27):
two it would be two am, Minnesota time. The great
state of Minnesota. I used to I had my tagline, right,
I used to, damn there named every city in Minnesota.
And I started to naming people in Minnesota when I
was doing Straight out of Vegas. I'd say, you know,
you know tonight's show, you know it's going to be
lit and you know in in Kirby Puckett, Minnesota. Anyway,
(01:15:49):
just so you know, and you can you know, people
can research this if you missed it. Because I don't
really watch the Pat McAfee show. Rogers has been a
fixture on that show since twenty twenty three. I think
he comes on every Tuesday. And he made a comment
this the other day. He was he was a little saucy.
Really get the red ass and Aaron Rodgers just he
(01:16:11):
doesn't go on the show for just a quick hit.
He's on like forty five minutes and he was given
the floor last week to give his latest thoughts and feelings,
which is typically what he always does. But it's it's
different now. Okay, the emperor has no clothes. This dude's
been exposed. He fooled me. I thought the Jets would
be a playoff team. I stand corrected. And one of
(01:16:34):
the things he did Tuesday was respond to the turmoil,
the alleged reports about turmoil in the Jets organization, and
apparently the Athletic had you know, had documented those reports.
Diana Rassini, formerly a ESPN who, by all you know accounts,
seems to be an incredible, extremely solid reporter. Solid and
(01:16:54):
Rogers of course denied the validity of what Rascini had
to write, and saying he doesn't even see beat to her.
But you know, in recent weeks, when you consider the
firing of Joe Douglass as general manager, the firing of
Robert Sala, the acquisition of DeVante Adams, that's gone over
like a fart in church. How's that worked out? I
(01:17:15):
told you wouldn't work I told you. And there's alleged
reports of discontent between Rogers and Jets owner Woody Johnson,
and to the point where Woody Johnson allegedly wanted him
benched after week four. I think he's gone next year.
Then Rogers went on to say, you know, I don't
give a ish about what people think about him. Look
(01:17:38):
at this point, buddy, you got all the credibility of
a dermatologist with acne. You need. You pour yourself a
big shout up to you so and I mean that,
and if I'd say it to his face, I'm not
afraid of Aaron Rodgers. The bottom line is the Jets
are three and eight after eleven games. They fired both
their gm they fired Robert Salad, and through those eleven games,
Rogers has completed only sixty three percent of his passes.
(01:18:00):
He's only thrown for twenty four hundred yards, very more abundan.
This man's NFL seventeen touchdowns, seven picks, but they don't win.
When he missed Garrett Wilson down the sideline in that
game in London, which he would have won the game,
that's become a metaphor for the whole season. The stats
tell part of the story, The eyeballs tell the rest
of the story. Name an NFL analyst, and if they're
(01:18:21):
being honest, they'll tell you Rogers can't really maneuver around
the pocket anymore, doesn't really have the escapability he once
had the lateral move when he once had, and that's fair.
He's gonna be forty one money and he's got it
coming off an achilles. He's had all kinds of injuries
in his career. He's been it more than Rocky bell Boy.
He's had more surgeries than Joan Rivers. Give the guy
a break, that's why he should just shut up. There's
(01:18:43):
also reports he's refusing medical scans and he can't throw
the ball downfield and refuses to throw the ball out field.
Other than that, everything's peachy cream. So we'll see what
the Jets do this weekend as well. Thanks to all
the callers, outstanding stuff. As always in the midnight hour,
you are what make the men that hour. Rock really
appreciate hearing from you, and we'll have some good stuff
for you next Friday night at midnight as well. I
(01:19:06):
always talk movies. I have my entire radio career up next.
Breeze three around Table, Keep it locked, The Bernie Fraddle Show,

Speaker 1 (01:19:15):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (01:19:18):

(01:19:43):
my shows, I always reference movies. There's movie references and
sports always go hand in hand. I love movies. My
wife and I go to movies. I've been a movie
buff since I was a little kid. And that's why
this segment. It's now time for Breeze three. Movie around table,
not one, not two.
Speaker 1 (01:20:03):
But three. It's entertainment. It's good.
Speaker 18 (01:20:11):
It's Breeze three.
Speaker 1 (01:20:13):
All right, take it away, alrighty.
Speaker 19 (01:20:15):
So earlier today, I think we all know Matt Eberflus
was let go as the Bears head coach. So now
the team has, you know, a chance to rehire obviously
hopefully somebody better in the off season. And it got
me thinking of maybe, like, what are some possible leads
in movies and if you have the opportunity to recast
them like, who would you choose? So I'm gonna start
(01:20:38):
off with Kevin Costner and Draft Day. So I mean
like when I see when I look at Kevin Costner,
I just think of baseball, Like I can't help it, right,
Like maybe he's been in like two or three like
big baseball movies and so, and then she kind of
transitioned into football. I mean, like if you watch it,
it just fits. But just kind of rethinking about it,
I'm like, I can kind of see like a Matthew
McConaughey maybe in that type of role. I mean, I
(01:21:00):
always think of him on the Texas sideline. I think
I don't know, I was going to say, I think
he was in We Are Marshall. I think so he
was yes about the plane crash football Yeah, So I
feel like, yeah, I mean he just he just speaks.
He just has football all over it all over him
for me. So I would totally like recast that with
him in that role. And the second one I had
(01:21:21):
was Brian instead of Robert de Niro and Meet the
Parents the Classic. I went with Brian Cranston just because
like when he was in Malcolm in the Middle, he
kind of was kind of like fun dad kind of vibe,
and I think he would be like a really entertaining
kind of like fun dad that Ben Stiller goes to meet.
And I mean, just to kind of throw it out there,
(01:21:42):
I would also put Aaron Paul in like the Ben
Stiller role, and I think that'd be like a really cute,
like before breaking bad kind of vibe. So that was
just something in there. And then my last one, I
was thinking of Fight Club instead of Edward Norton, like
a Joseph Gordon Levitt just that kind of just like
that kind of like cute, innocent, bewildered kind of look.
(01:22:04):
I think Joseph Gordon Levitt would definitely be awesome, just
like starring opposite of like Brad Pitt in that role.
So those were my three that I was kind of
thinking of, and again just kind of if like obviously,
these are three great actors that play the role amazing,
but just like in my world, like what would I
(01:22:25):
do if I recasted them? Those were my three. So
I'll go ahead and throw it over to Mark.
Speaker 20 (01:22:31):
All Right, So my first movie I want to talk
about to recast is the movie Meet Joe Black. That's
Anthony Hopkins and Brad Pitt, Brad Pitty. So I just
had a thought because I was scratching my head trying
to figure out what movies I would recast and blah
blah blah. So I came up with Meet Joe black
(01:22:52):
So I thought, maybe have the actor Michael Vartan. He
was the husband and monster in law and he was
also in a spy movie that I liked, Alias with
the Jennifer Garner, So that actor Michael Vartank could maybe
be Meet Joe Blackbee take over the Brad Pitt part.
(01:23:14):
And then the next movie I was thinking about was
Bewitched with Nicole Kittman and Will Ferrell. I would potentially
switch out Vince Vaughn for Will Ferrell or maybe Jimmy Fallon,
because there's a story of Nicole Kittman talking with Jimmy
Fallon on the show about when they met and it
(01:23:35):
was temporarily, you know, an idea that she was going
to have him star in the movie. But that was
a long story that they went around about how they
first met and they were so called on a date,
but that didn't work out. But just those two actors,
we have Vince Vaughn or Jimmy Fallon take over the
Will Farrell thing, and then the next movie.
Speaker 16 (01:23:55):
I thought about what.
Speaker 20 (01:23:56):
Dark Knight Rises, and to recast and Hathaway and potentially
have Scarlett Johansson play her part. So good, that would
have been awesome because I no, no, maybe you know,
maybe they got Anne Hathway because she's tall, slender, but
maybe they could have had a nice suit for Scarlett
Johanson to play that part, because Scarlett has played a
(01:24:18):
superhero and another couple of films. So I just thought
those three movies Meet Joe Black, Bewitched, and The Dark
Knight Rises. For that my three movies.
Speaker 2 (01:24:28):
So over to you, Bernie, all right, So for one
it's worth And I kind of gave you this a
left turn, and I'll explain it in a minute. You know,
when I saw Ronnie Mallik in the Queen movie, he
played Freddie Mercury. The problem is, now, anytime I see
that guy in a movie, because of his mouth, I
see Freddie Mercury again. So it's a bit of a distraction.
(01:24:51):
And I started to think about the various movies over
time where there was a lead and I didn't do
very good at it. So I gave it a quarter
turn and you might you guys might get a kick
out of this. So Indiana Jones, we know, was played
by Harrison Ford. Harrison Ford pulled that role off. He
became Indiana Jones. He was not the producer's first choice.
(01:25:16):
They wanted Tom Selleck. Can you picture as Tom Selleck
as Indiana Jones. They didn't want Harrison Ford. They hired him,
but Tom Selleck was the first choice. One Floor with
the Cuckoo's Nest the famous character Randal Peter McMurphy, played
incredibly well by Jack Nicholson. He became that character. That
movie won all kinds of ACA Awards. Believe it or not,
(01:25:39):
he was not. Jack Nicholson was not the first choice
of the movie studio to play Randall p. McMurphy. And
one Floor of the Cuckoo's Nest. It was actually Burt Reynolds,
and Burt Reynolds turned it down. And then the third one.
I know, I'm breaking my old rule because we want
to start with three, but these three were a dead
heat tie and I'll just bang them right out here. Obviously,
(01:26:00):
Tom Hanks Forrest Gump movie came out in nineteen ninety
four to great acclaim. Tom Hanks became Forrest Gump. He
was not the network's first choice. Guess who turned it down, Yes,
John Travolta, John Travolta. I think he just finished pulp
fiction or something. But anyway, the tie, though I could it,
was between that and of course Shawshank Redemption was played
(01:26:21):
so incredibly well by Timothy Robbins. I mean, who can
forget the line you better get busy living or get
busy dying. The chemistry he had with Morgan Freeman was unreal.
Can't It's hard to imagine it wouldn't be it would
be anybody but Tim Robbins. But he was their third choice.
Their first choice was Kevin Costner, he turned it down.
(01:26:41):
Their second choice was Tom Hanks. He turned it down,
but Timothy Robbins ended up getting it. So those are mine.
I gave it a quarter turn just as some food
for thought.
Speaker 19 (01:26:52):
Oh wow, I can't even imagine John Travolta in that role, right, or.
Speaker 2 (01:26:57):
Burton Reynolds or Tom sellick is. You can't because they,
you know, the actors that ended up filling those roles
performed them so capably.
Speaker 20 (01:27:06):
Absolutely.
Speaker 19 (01:27:07):
It kind of reminds me Killian Murphy almost became Batman
in the Dark Night, like almost we became that role
if Christian Bale wasn't going to take it. Kelly and
Murphy also auditioned for that. That was kind of like
your realm, isn't that crazy? Like I can't imagine Kellyan
Murphy as Batman at all.
Speaker 2 (01:27:25):
The Batman franchise has really lasted too. Yeah, all right, Well,
appreciate everyone's efforts. Interesting, and I guess at the end
of the day, what you know, we look back at
these movies and and sometimes you know, you wonder what
the producer directors really looking for when they cast somebody
(01:27:49):
and they have to sort of become these characters. And
it's always been a struggle for me when someone who
doesn't appear to be a sportsperson is undertaking a sports role.
I was really dubious about Brad Pitt Moneyball, but the
Son of a Gun pulled it off. He sounded like
a that's exactly how they sound when they talked baseball.
But of course we got to give a lot of
credit to the writers as well, because that wasn't Brad
(01:28:11):
Pitt's dialogue.
Speaker 6 (01:28:12):
That was.
Speaker 2 (01:28:14):
That was, you know, the writer's dialogue.
Speaker 20 (01:28:16):
Of course, one quicker for you, Bertie before we got
good The Wizard of Oz. Yes, the tin Man was
supposed to be Buddy Ebsen from the Beverly Hills Billies,
but you know, but that he couldn't His body was
allergic to the paint that they were using, so he
couldn't take the role. But the guy who played the
part he got it. But because it was it because
(01:28:38):
of the paint. He would have been the tin Man
and the Wizard of Oz if.
Speaker 2 (01:28:41):
You guys saw Godfather three h obviously, Sofia Coppola was
cast and she's not really an actress. She was Francis
fort Coppo's granddaughter. Yeah. She only got that role in
the last second because Winona Ryder was filming a movie
in Italy and came down in pneumonia and she could
make about that.
Speaker 12 (01:29:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:29:01):
Yeah. So anyway, always kind of there's actually a book
out about this that that lists, you know, dozens and
dozens of movies who you know might have been made
with other actors and just kind of good stuff.
Speaker 18 (01:29:13):
Like Michael J.
Speaker 20 (01:29:14):
Fox was wasn't uh In Back to the Future, there
was the guy who was got the he had the
lion face. Oh he was in pulp fiction. Also who
gave the the shot to John Travolta's oh in the chest. Yes, well,
Michael J. Fox was doing teen Wolf and they had
(01:29:36):
to they were also filming Back to the Future at
the same time because they dumped that actor to bring
in Michael J.
Speaker 18 (01:29:42):
Fox and Eric Yes, that's the guy. Yeah, Eric Stultz was.
Speaker 2 (01:29:46):
In fact, he was in mask.
Speaker 18 (01:29:48):
I mean, that's what I was thinking about.
Speaker 2 (01:29:51):
Matt he uh yeah, he that was a very powerful performance.
But a lot of times too, when they do these
people up with the makeup, it's like, man, oh man,
you know you hear these stories about the and four
hours in the makeup chair before they can shoot. That's
that's dedication, man, all right, appreciate everybody's efforts. Bree three

Speaker 2 (01:31:18):
Right back on the Bernie Fraudle Show, Fox Sports Radio.
Come to live from the Tarat dot com studios here
in Las Vegas. You know who else is coming to
town the biggest week in the college football to date.
All kinds of things are on the line this week
in conference championship berths, bragging rights. Big time rivals are
(01:31:39):
going to be bucking heads. College football playoff spots are
on the line. Questions will be answered, Ken Ryan Dave
beat Michigan. If so, Number two o House State, we'll
play number one Oregon in the Big Ten title game
for the first time in five years. By the way,
the Buckeye still have all their goals in front of them.
They want to win the Big Ten, they want to
(01:32:01):
win the national championship, but they've got to beat their
arch rival first, and they've lost three in a row.
Later on, the long awaited revival. They haven't played this
game in fourteen years. Texas versus Texas A and M.
These two programs, you know, it's a shame they haven't
but they are now. Okay, this is a great, great matchup.
It's going to be renewed now that they're both in
(01:32:22):
the SEC. The Longhorns ranked third. Thought they got the
last laugh thirteen years ago. Remember Justin Tucker Well he played.
He played for Texas then and he drilled a forty
yard field goals time expired. The Eggs. You be looking
for revenge at Kyle Field and hey there's you know,
(01:32:42):
stakes are on the line. I'm not talking about t
bone stakes. I'm talking about going to the SEC championship
game to play Georgia. Meanwhile, the Big Twelve the final
week of the regular season, no clarity about which teams
will play for the conference championship mathematically, and we're not
going to do this. There are actually nine teams that
could make it according to a myriad of scenarios. I
(01:33:03):
hope it's Colorado's one of them. Arizona State certainly deserves it.
We'll see what happens. So we've got to watch coming
up in seven hours and thirty eight minutes, and at
the end of the end of the show, I'll explain
why I say this the greatest rivalry in all of
college sports. Michigan visits Ohio State for Ryan Day and
Ohio State, this one's about revenge the Buckeyes. They have
(01:33:26):
failed to beat their biggest rival in five years. No
matter how much success the program has or I've had
since then, this is the thing that matters. There's nothing
even Ryan Day said what it's like to lose to
Michigan quote, other than losing my father and a few
other things. It's, quite honestly, for my family, the worst
thing that's happened. He's not kidding. I covered ten of
(01:33:48):
these games man. I lived twenty minutes for Ann Arbor
for seventeen years. Ohio State should take care of Michigan
this time. The Buckeyes have the best defense in the nation.
They've got a top ten scoring offense, they have talent
in every position. They've been able to overcome two season
ending injuries to starting offensive linemen. And Michigan. You know,
(01:34:10):
even though the quarterback Davis Warren has has shown some science,
he's going to really need to make some explosive plays,
which the offense is really not really done all season.
All right, this is one hundred and twentieth time this
game has been played. And you know, I will say this,
I can't remember in my memory the time anytime that
(01:34:31):
he defending national champion was a twenty one point underdog.
Now that's down to nineteen and a half because Michigan
money's come in. And by the way, not for nothing.
Ryan Day is six and twelve against the spread of
November home games. I expect Michigan to put up a fight,
but they're severely overmatched. It would not be surprised me
if they hang that number. And no, how State beats
him something like thirty one to fourteen. I don't know.
(01:34:53):
I don't think it's going to be close. Look, I
think Michigan's going to punch him. Look Will Johnson's not playing.
That's a huge loss. They're all American quarterback is probably
a top six draft pick, and we're not sure if
Colston Loveland, their star tight ends playing, So Michigan's got
you know, they've got a tall order, a very tall order,
even if they had their full roster. South Carolina and
(01:35:15):
Clemson will be very interesting because South Carolina as designs
on also you know, ruining Clemson season. They're on a
five game winning streak, which also includes victories over two
top twenty five teams, Texas A and M in Missouri,
which is more than Texas can say. Plus we've already
talked about the fact that the game Cocks could be
easily sitting with just one loss right now. They lost
(01:35:36):
to LSU and Alabama by combined five points earlier in
the season. They have a freshman quarterback, Lenora Sellers. He's
getting better every week and he's accounted for seventeen touchdowns,
thirteen of them in the last four games. South Carolina's
on a high. This is a big time in state
rival okay, but Clemson's no slots, so they're looking for
their first win over a top twenty five opponents this season.
(01:36:00):
The only other one the Tigers have faced, I mean
in the only top twenty five opponent they faced was
Georgia and the season opener at and you know, Georgia
opened up a massive can of wood pass and they
beat the Bulldogs thirty four. Check that they beat Clemson
bull The Georgia Bulldogs beat Clemson thirty four to three,
but their quarterback, Clemson's quarterback Kid club nick he will
(01:36:23):
now face the stingiest defense he's faced, and that even
includes Georgia's when you talk about metrics, the offensive line
is going to have its hands full the game. Cox
have a defensive end and Kyle Canard leads the SEC
in sacks with twelve tackles for loss. And Clemson is
also going to be scoreboard watching because they got to win,
and they got to keep an eye on the Miami
(01:36:44):
Syracuse game later in the day because if the Tigers
win and the Hurricanes lose, Clemson will find itself in
the ACC Championship game the following week. By the way,
Miami's a healthy favorite over Syracuse but Syracuse has been
a giant killer over the years. I mentioned this game
is second ago Texas, Texas A and M. This takes
here are very clear the winner. They'll played number seven
(01:37:08):
Georgia in the SEC championship game. Texas A and M
thought they'd escaped Texas when they left the Big Twelve
for the SEC back in twenty twelve. Fast forward twelve
years later, now the two are in conference their conference
foes once again, and in that time period, in that
entire time period, the Texas A and M Aggies have
(01:37:31):
not played for an SEC title once. Even though their
amplify program, we're way outhead of the curve in the
NIL spent millions of dollars, spent millions of dollars on
Jimbo Fisher. It hasn't worked. Their new coach, Mike Elko's
doing just fine. The fact that the Longhorns could do
that in their first year in a new conference does
not sit well with people in College station. Think about
(01:37:53):
those bragging rights. Texas A and M has been part
of the SEC for twelve years, hasn't even played for
an SEC title. Texas strolls into the conference, they win
it the first year. Yeah, you're gonna have some pissed
off aggies. However, the game is played at Texas A
and M. But Texas A and M is an underdog
at home. But you know how, you know, you get
(01:38:15):
these two rivalries together, all right. And that's, by the way,
it's not just bragging rights for Texas A and M.
If Texas A and M loses, it's almost assured that
they will be eliminated from college football playoff contention. Now,
if Texas loses, however, they will almost certainly still be
in at large team in the twelve team field. So
(01:38:36):
if Steve Sarkesy and his team can beat Texas A
and M and then somehow get revenge on Georgia who
beat Texas in mid October and win the SEC, they
will be the number two college football playoff seed most likely. Now,
another game I'll throw into the mix here is the
Vanderbilt game Tennessee at Vanderbilt. This is important, all right,
(01:38:58):
again in another in state rival. And I realize that Tennessee,
you know, is a pretty hefty favorite. They're laying ten
and a half points on the road at Vanderbilt, and
Vanderbilt's been really solid with their quarterback Diego Pavia. He's
really impressive. He's thrown for twenty two hundred yards, he
scored sixteen touchdowns. He's only throwing three picks. Vanderbilt put
(01:39:21):
their name on the map a few weeks ago when
they beat Alabama because they kept running the ball, moving
the chains in the time of possession was ridiculous. Can
they do that to Tennessee. It's going to be a
taller again another in state rival. Tennessee is sitting pretty
right now. They beat Vanderbilt Saturday, the game's you know again,
seven and a half hours from now, kicks off. All
science point that Tennessee might have punched their ticket to
(01:39:45):
the college football playoff, And really, Tennessee is riding high
with a little bit of luck because they're highly thought
of by the selection committee and they don't even have
to play in the SEC title game to earn a
place in the twelve team field. So with a win Saturday,
they could also potentially get an on campus game in
the first round two. But in order to do that,
(01:40:05):
they're gonna have to step up. Okay, SEC's top running
back Dylan Samson twenty two touchdowns this year, the best
in the ACC. He's averaging one hundred and eighty eight
yards a game. Put in the hand of your best
players see what they do. But again, don't go to sleep.
Vanderbilt is no slouch. They're already Bowl eligible. They've put
together a highly respectable season which includes the matt includes
(01:40:27):
the massive upset of then number one Alabama back in October.
Then they had number five Texas on the ropes a
couple weeks later. Again, keep an eye on Diego pavia Here,
a quarterback. He's been very impressive all season. So those
are the games you can't miss. And just for fun,
I would like to throw a USC Notre Dame because
(01:40:48):
USC is a seven and a half point underdog, could
really pel over Notre Dame's parade. If Notre Dame losers
to USC, I think they could be knocked out of
the playoffs. It's possible because remember Notre Dame is not
in the conference. Lincoln Riley needs a victory like this. Okay,
you know, I know they almost beat Penn State, and
they did beat Eucla. But this is not anywhere near
(01:41:09):
what they expected when Lincoln Riley got to school. Here's
a chance to have a real signature win. Game kicks
off with twelve thirty Pacific, three thirty Eastern. Well, American
football is not the only thing we cover here on
the Bernie Frattle Show. We also cover the sport that's
spelled fut bl they also called soccer. It's time for
(01:41:29):
Chris Purfett's World of Soccer. The greatest goals, the thrilling finishes,
the international drama. It's all here in this report from
(01:41:51):
the World of Soccer.
Speaker 21 (01:41:53):
Interesting stuff around the world of soccer, Bernie. We have
some surprising MLS Cup semi finals here. No laf scene
getting knocked out in an earlier round, setting up for
some quite a few interesting storylines as the as it goes,
we'll talk about the finals that will be upcoming on
the next one, because Lord knows, there's a lot of
(01:42:15):
time between each round of the MLS Cup. They really
have to wean this out. However, one thing that struck
me and I was thinking about this as we were
sitting after one of our last World of Soccers is
I mentioned a new Champions League format and it struck me.
We had never really talked about the new Champions League format,
and it gives me a chance to talk about that
(01:42:36):
and what's been going on in the Champions League, the
greatest league in the world, where we literally take the
best of every league across Europe and bring them in
to crown one of them to be the Champions of Europe,
the Kings of Europe. And it's been a fairly interesting
run across the board the last tew years of the
(01:42:59):
Champions League, but they have been looking to expand, and
indeed they have so. Once we used to have thirty
two teams a divide into eight groups of four, but
no longer. This year it is thirty six clubs and
we have eight match days of peace there and rather
than having a bunch of groups out there, we now
(01:43:19):
have just basically a cut line. So basically your Champions
League standings now look look a lot closer to standings
like say the NBA or Major League Baseball, although no divisions,
all in one big pool ranked one through thirty six
depending on their wins and losses, and a lot less
like say the World Cup, where you have the zippy
(01:43:40):
quick group stage where everyone plays each other and then
we get the knockout rounds after that. What happens instead
is the top eight get a automatic qualification to the
knockout round. Wow, there is a quick playoffs that happen
between nine through twenty four. So we suddenly have knockout
(01:44:01):
rounds and playoff rounds involving all but the bottom third
of the Champions League. It is suddenly a lot more interesting,
a lot more teams involved, and a lot interesting chants
where teams that have just taken a few blows in
Champions League to get back into it. For instance, we've
been talking about Real Madrid having a pretty terrible season
(01:44:24):
so far by their standards, Real Madrid only has six
points and since twenty fourth after this week of Champions
League play, but they would be the last club into
the playoff stage. That can be either good or bad. Really,
it's fascinating because it maybe opens up the chance for
more upsets to happen with smaller clubs like say Celtic
(01:44:46):
or Fay and Ord who have kicked around a lot,
but usually just because the math of some of the
clubs that they usually get paired into that they just
are usually shut out. It also means kind of the
end to this idea of a group of death that
we kind of see in the World Cup and previous
editions of the Champions League, because you're playing more opponents
in a wider format. It definitely does not mean that
(01:45:10):
you are a small club suddenly stuck in there having
to play Milan and say Arsenal together and being like,
oh god, how do we get out of this? And
while we were leading up to Thanksgiving, it was match
day five of eight for the Champions League with some
interesting results. As I mentioned, Real Madrid way down at
the bottom as their season, their disappointing season continues, especially
(01:45:33):
in Europe with Liverpool, which we've talked about a lot.
That is your Premier League leading Liverpool, who have a
chance to play Manchester City, who comes into the weekend
tied for third in the Premier League, not second, third
now kind of a moderate third, distant back behind Liverpool
who has still only suffered a single loss heading into
(01:45:54):
this weekend's matchup against the men from Manchester. That same
man City had a hilatious draw three to three against
Feyanord that has once again kind of put them in
no man's land in the new format they now sit
let me just check my finger seventeenth with no real
hope to really make it into that instant audit a qualification,
(01:46:17):
No that will go to Liverpool, that will go probably
to Inter Milan, who have shown themselves to be extremely
competitive in the Champions format, and it will go probably
to Barcelona, who is pretty much the cream of the
crop this year from Spain. Of course, we still have
three more matchdays to go in the Champions League. Anything
could really happen, and there's not enough points that really
(01:46:37):
separate things. But it would take some hilacious losses to
really knock the top three down all the way out
of the consideration. And I don't think anyone's touching Liverpool
at this point for that one seed, unless Inter really
makes a big push in Liverpool stumbles and offers some
help to the men in San Zero. We keep eagerly
awaiting that as we Egle await the MLS Cup playoff
(01:46:59):
final announcement.
Speaker 18 (01:47:00):
But hey, we mentioned Liverpool a little earlier and good
news for them.
Speaker 2 (01:47:04):
One of the.
Speaker 21 (01:47:05):
Biggest challenges facing Liverpool this year. Besides just saying farewell
to Jurgen Klop, we found very quick quickly that Arnslaught
is a wonderful managing this squad right now, but also
that they had a lot of guys on expiring contracts
and unfortunately I don't think that the rest of Europe
is going to feast upon the riches of Liverpool and
(01:47:26):
all you need to look at that is to their
top man, Mohammed Salah. Now Salah is not a homegrown
talent for Liverpool. He actually spent a few years of course,
he grew up in Egypt, played for plenty of clubs,
got picked up by Chelsea in twenty fourteen, went around
in a few loans and really made a name for
himself playing for two very good years in Italy's Roma Club.
(01:47:49):
But it is at Liverpool where he has become a sensation,
one of the best players in the world at one
of the best Egyptian strikers of all time.
Speaker 18 (01:47:58):
And it looks to be he will be rem in Liverpool.
Speaker 21 (01:48:01):
There is talks that his camp wants a contract extension
with Liverpool.
Speaker 18 (01:48:05):
It mays be seen in Liverpool will have the money
for it.
Speaker 21 (01:48:08):
They don't exactly have the deep, possibly illegal pockets of
someone like Manchester City, but they are a club that
usually I like to say, will do good right business.
And Mohammed Sala if you're gonna pay one guy out
of anyone right now, you probably pay the thirty two
year old Egyptian who has just been a scoring terror
(01:48:28):
on any opponent that dares stand against him. And as
Sala goes, so could go many other players for Liverpool.
It's really not enough to state that this very hard start,
hot start in both the Premier League and in the
Champions League has breathed new life into Liverpool, who looks
like they were really just about ready to tear it
down and eat a few years in the wilderness while
(01:48:50):
they tried to retool after Jurgen Klop's departure. But with
the advent of everything so far in this first quarter
of Premier League play and about halfway through group play
in the Champions League, Liverpool.
Speaker 18 (01:49:04):
Is here to stay. That's it for us, Bernie. We'll
see you next time on the World of Soccer.
Speaker 2 (01:49:09):
Shock full of news. That's what we do here, looks
whether it's in season, add a season, World Cup, non
World Cup, the Olympics. We started this in twenty twenty two,
prior to us playing England two years ago today Black Friday,
and it took off from there. And the truth of
the matter is, look, I get it. Not everybody's a
(01:49:31):
soccer walk. You don't have to be. It's all about
being informed. And you know, we try to break the
news and keep the stories and keep things fresh and
keep things eclectic. Here eclectic. That's the ward of the day.
A collected by the way, Hey, Rapid Radio is the

football playoffs, one particular better at DK Sportsbook, DraftKings wagered
(01:50:14):
one hundred dollars on a certain team to win the
college football playoff at big odds before the season with
one a million dollars. Let me tell you how that
worked out coming up, and I'm also going to share
with you why. And I mean this, I'm as serious
as a heart attack. While this game that kicks off
in seven hours and twenty minutes remains, I believe the
(01:50:39):
biggest rivalry in all of college sports, not just because
I lived there, not just because I covered ten of them.
How many here's a tease, how many of these college
football rivalries became a rivalry one hundred and ten years
before the first game was ever played, because well started
(01:51:00):
as a land war. I'll fill you in coming up.
I'm Bernie Fradda. We're coming to your line from Las

And before I go any further, I want to thank
my broadcast team back in Los Angeles, Mark and Brianna.
Outstanding job tonight. The teamwork, the hustle, everything everything you know,
(01:51:45):
keeping us glued together, keeping us on the air. You know,
the radio is not easy. The trick is trying to
make it look easy. So a great job by the
broadcast team. As usual. By the way, not for nothing.
I'll be back on these airwaves Saturday night. Eleven Pacific,
two am Eastern. It's our four hour show. We'll have
a lot to talk about all the rival games on
(01:52:07):
Saturday that I just went over the recap, what the
ramifications are. We'll do our best to give a college
football playoff update. What things might start to look like
is the picture should come quite a bit clearer tomorrow
or later on today, depending on your perspective. We'll have
a big time Sunday NFL preview, and as usual, I'll
have lots of facts and data and trends to know about.
(01:52:31):
We'll talk about the teams trending up, the team's trending down.
We're going to do a thing also called the pythagoreaam
theorem record whose records are lying. You've got teams out
there whose records are like ten and one, and they
really are eleven and one, they really should be seven
and five. You might get a kick out of that.
Did this with Raiders fans three years ago. They didn't
like it. I said, based on the pythagoream theorem, they
(01:52:52):
were only going to be six and ten the following
years before they went to this, and they were so.
Sometimes the numbers don't lie. Of course, another segment with
Steve Fasick to Physik five, Mark Medina, Medina Magic, plenty
of NBA stuff and we're going to play all the hits,
fresh new editions of brand new fool and what my name?
(01:53:13):
So be there or you are first in line for
a frontal lobotomy? How about that? Better? Back in August,
who at DraftKings wagered one hundred dollars on a certain
college team to win the college football playoff at ten
thousand and one to odds, ten thousand to one odds
before the season, had that cashed, they'd won a million dollars.
(01:53:35):
It was Kent State. It came close. Kent State was
zero to twelve with a cumulative point differential of minus
three sixty two. And how is your day? That one
hundred dollars? With all due respect, my friend, you'd be
better off of lightning on fire at least to keep
you warm. Not for nothing. So I said, when you bet,
(01:53:57):
don't bet a little to make a lot better, a
little to make a little more. You know, these needle
in the haystack bets, these shooting babies at the moon
bets they don't hit. They don't Okay, maybe once in
a real blue Moon. But you know, Vegas started with
one casino, and I've been coming here a long time,
and I've lived here a long time now, and I
will say this. You know, every year they put nicer
(01:54:18):
chandeliers in these casinos. So somebody put that one hundred
dollars to good use. Michigan and Ohio State teed up
the one hundred and twentieth edition seven hours and ten
minutes from now. They're abouts. This might not be a
top five showdown this year, but it's still going to
be featuring plenty of intriguing storylines. None got bigger then
(01:54:39):
Ryan Day attempting to snap his three game losing street.
Can you imagine it's twenty point favorites if Ohio State
gets bet Oh my god, that poor guy. They play
rough in Columbus. But I don't think it's gonna happen.
I can't remember when a defending national champions been getting
twenty points, but this Michigan team, and they're not even
gonna have Colston Loveland appears their start ender, Will Johnson
(01:55:02):
so and Ryan Davis six and twelve against the spread
at home in November games, So you know, maybe Michigan
State may mis check that Michigan loses by you know,
seventeen fourteen whatever. I don't know if they'll lose by
more than twenty, but they could. They could. We'll see
what happens anyway you slice it. I'm sticking to my guns,
knowing what I know, having lived there, having covered ten
of those games. This is the biggest rivalry in college sports.
(01:55:26):
It started in seventeen eighty seven, one hundred and ten
years before they ever played their first game. They were
fighting over land. Congress drafted this thing called the Northwest Ordnance,
And what it did was it stipulated that there was
this two hundred and sixty thousand square miles surrounding Great
Lakes Who's going to be carved into a handful of
new states. So what the law decreed was at the
(01:55:47):
border between Ohiland Michigan was to run an east west
line until it intersected with Lake Erie. They're just one problem.
They didn't have GPS back then. They'd have great maps
as a result, Michigan so tip it was several miles
north of its true location. So the original border, which
was supposed to be at the mouth of the Mammie
River and Ohio. People know what that is that was
(01:56:10):
actually the future city of Toledo in northern Ohio rather
than southern Michigan. They blew it. Now, both Ohio and
Michigan wanted that land. They wanted control of the Mammi
River because you got into the eighteen hundreds of the
completion of the Erie Canal linked the Great Lakes to
the east coast. So all of a sudden, there's all
this valuable opportunity for trade and commerce and business. It
(01:56:32):
was the largest port on Lake Erie's western side. All
of a sudden, this growing village of Toledo, it became
poised to become a commercial hub, and it was spent
a lot of time in Toledo with so much riding
on this contested territory. Both sides, well, they said we
got to have it, the Michigan territory. They settled the region,
(01:56:53):
they started to construct roads, they held elections, they collected taxes. Meanwhile,
the Ohio people, the Ohio people, they went to Washington
to find support for its Connas Buckeye congressman. They even
helped block a Michigan petition for a statehood in an
effort to force the territory surrender of the Toledo Strip.
(01:57:15):
So this turned into genuine hatred. This is the Toledo Strip,
four hundred square mile region right at the state's borders.
When Michigan tried to join the Union in eighteen thirty
five to include the Toledo Strip and its borders, Ohio blocked.
It's admitted it's Finally President Andrew Jackson stepped in and
(01:57:35):
worked out a compromise where Ohio got the Toledo Strip,
Michigan got the Upper Peninsula, which was not considered a
fair trade. That was completely unsettled territory at the time.
Although the upers up there in Michigan might have something
to say about that, not safe to say. The fan
bases never have forgotten about the Toledo War. It's just
(01:57:56):
transferred to the football field, and it will be fresh
on people's minds when the teams meet about eight hours
from now for thee hundred and twentieth time. These schools
hate each other. There's no way to describe it. You
have to be there to see it. But I know
you know about it, Michigan, Ohio State. When I sign
on tomorrow night, we'll have a report. We'll see what happens.
(01:58:16):
But anyway, you slice it, someone's going home pissed off
and someone's going home happy, and they're going to brag
for the rest of the year. It's gonna do it
for the Bernie Frawler Show. See it back tonight at
eleven pm. Keep it locked up next to the fellas.
