Pray some darkness is lighting up your speakers to establish

Com Fox Sports Radio Studios, here's Jonas Knocks.
Speaker 4 (00:27):
Okay, hoors world. Well, there is one thing that's very evident,
(01:02):
It's very obvious when it comes to the world of football.
This weekend, we will explain what that is coming up
here in just a couple of moments. From now, Jonas Knox,

So this is going to be an interesting show because
we've got two games going on in the world of
football and both matter. We've got the NFL, in which
we've got the Chiefs and the Texans that are currently
taking place. Kansas City's got the football they're driving. They're
(02:04):
trailing ten to seven. There's six minutes in change left
to go in the first half. They just picked up
another first down, so they're now in the red zone
of the Houston Texans, and we will get to that
here coming up shortly. You've also got the college football
Playoff that has taken place, and you've got the college
football Playoff that is taking place in State College. And
(02:26):
you got the college Football Playoff game that's taken place
in State College, which sees the home team with a
twenty eight to nothing lead over SMU.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Now we will address.
Speaker 4 (02:39):
All of a sudden what if scenarios that have popped
up in college football, because that's the norm this time
of year, especially when it comes to college football. We
will address that here coming up here soon. Here's one
thing that we can all agree on through one and
a half games of the College football Playoff. Actually two
(02:59):
things through one and a half games of the college
football Playoff. We could agree on this one. It's awesome
and two. Home field advantage is very real. You could
not ask for more of an advantage than what you
(03:21):
have gotten thus far for Notre Dame and Penn State. Now,
if you know what I do during the week, I
work with Brady Quinn and LeVar Arrington, who Notre Dame
Penn State, two of the all time greats. So of
course me being supportive, me wanting the best for them
(03:44):
and the best for our show. I was really rooting
hard for Indiana and SMU. This is about content. It
is a right of passage as a friend, especially if
you're like women can't understand that. But when you're a
guy and your buddy's rooting for a team, and guys
(04:06):
know this, this is what makes us stick in the head.
Sometimes you root against them because you like seeing them
be a little miserable. But I looked at this and
I said, hey, college Football Playoff, it's a home game.
They're going to win, not surprising whatsoever. And even if
they don't, we can bust balls or whatnot, but clear
and obvious, clear is day. Home field advantage is a
(04:30):
real thing when it comes to the first game and
a half. Thus far, Kevin Jennings of SMU has already
thrown three picks, two of them have gone back for touchdowns.
Penn State hasn't really had to do anything much on offense,
and they're dominating this game because it looks obvious that
(04:51):
SMU is struggling with the conditions. They look cold, I mean,
everybody's cold. There's a picture the stadium before the game.
It looks like downtown Siberia. Nobody's ever played a game
in these conditions this time of year at that stadium,
as cold as balls, like you watch Notre Dame Indiana,
(05:17):
and it looked like Indiana was struggling with and they're
in the state.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
Like they looked like they weren't handling it well.
Speaker 4 (05:28):
There is such an obvious home field advantage through the
first couple of games, and maybe that'll change. Maybe they'll
be it'll look a little differently when you get better
conditions in Austin, or maybe it'll look different in Columbus
when everybody's freaking out because they're still traumatized over what
happened to Michigan. But my thought on it through the
(05:49):
first game and a half that we've seen pretty evident,
pretty clear and obvious. Home field advantage is real, and
the college football playoff expansion has awesome. You want to
argue about what team deserves to be there, blah blah blah,
you can do that. Well, you know, we'll get into
all that stuff later. Point being what they were looking
for in creating this environment and this atmosphere, it's been
(06:14):
a home run through and through. Jonas Knox here, Fox
Sports Radio. Here's the other thing that is going on.
A real stunner. Patrick Mahomes is playing in this game
for the Kansas City Chiefs against the Houston Texans. He's
playing now, real stunner, real stunner if it was like
(06:34):
anybody else not named Patrick Mahomes, because I don't get it.
Like we've heard of high ankle sprains before, Like we
hear them all the time, very common injury, especially in
the NFL, especially in football. So you hear high ankle
sprain and the assumption is, well, week to week, he
(06:56):
just just try and survive, hold on to that one seed.
But yeah, you' probably get you know, in the midst
of a three game eleven days stretch.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Blah blah.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
You know, listen, it's gonna be could be a little
bit problematic for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. You know,
he's got this high ankle spraying Patrick Mahomes. No, we're good. Oh,
I suffered that on Sunday. I'll be cleared with no
injury designation by Thursday. All good here, thank you though.
But that's one of the elements of Patrick Mahomes that
(07:24):
doesn't get talked about enough that nobody wants to point out.
Everyone points at all, you know, the skills set, how
he can throw the ball. You know, we've never seen a.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Talent like this.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
And look, offensively, they've struggled at times this year, or
actually most of the time this year. You know, they
struggled a little bit last year. But everyone talks about
the intangibles. Hey man, he could you know, when the
game's on the line. Look what he does in the
Super Bowl. Look at his ability to throw the ball,
his ability to scramble this. What about his durability in
(07:55):
his career, He's missed two starts because of injury, and
that was after he dislocated his kneecap on a fluke
play against Denver on a Thursday night game on a
quarterback sneak. Other than that guy plays. The only time
other than that he's missed a game is when they're
just resting up final week of the season, they're gearing
(08:16):
up for the playoffs. Other than that guy plays. It's
like the Lebron James conversation. By the way, Lebron James
plays for a league called the NBA. You probably not
watched this year based on some of the numbers. But
that's all right, because you know he's big into like
parties now anyway, so like, don't worry. But point is,
he plays for this league, the NBA. You know, I
(08:38):
don't know if you're familiar with it. You know they've
got their own issues. But one of the things about
Lebron James that you look at and you go Jesus
is his ability to stay healthy and his durability throughout
the course of his career. Like Brett Favre was durable,
(08:59):
but Brett Farv was taking a beating and god knows
how much tour it all was running through his veins
at all hours of the day. I mean, for God's sakes,
but like you could you would see Brett Favre play
injured and there would be a clear difference between him
playing at a high level and him playing injured. It
would be obvious, dude, Like Lebron James will get banged
(09:22):
up and you'll see it, like you don't think he's
dealing with injuries, Like his body's not, you know, a
little bit worn down. He missed time earlier this year,
Like he's still probably the best player on the team,
Like he's a top five, top ten player in the league.
Patrick Mahomes just suffered a high ankle sprain on Sunday.
(09:43):
Like guys miss two, three, four, five weeks with this stuff.
Patrick Mahomes, Now we're good by Thursday and he's playing again.
We were talking about during the week and I thought, okay,
well let's play smart here. So let's just you know,
look at this like a high ankle sprain, like everybody
else gets all right, high ankle sprain. He's going to
miss Saturday's game because it's a short week, but then
(10:03):
hopefully he's back for the Christmas game. So you just
hope Carson Wentz can land the plane, so to speak.
For the Kansas City Chiefs on a Saturday game. No,
he's good to go, two days in advance. All good
here scrambling got a rushing touchdown, Like, yeah, we're fine.
So when the story is told about Lebron James durability
(10:25):
is probably going to be fourth or fifth when they
discuss the legacy of his career and how impactful it was.
When the story's told about Patrick Mahomes, they're going to
talk about the arm, talent, the Super Bowls, the clutchness,
all the other things that come up. His durability we
don't see in the NFL when there's really not a
(10:46):
drop off in his ability based.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
On whatever injury he's dealing with from game to game.
Speaker 4 (10:50):
Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio at the Jonas Knocks

All that is yours.

Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio. Coming up in a little
over ten minutes from now here from the tire rack
dot com studios. We are going to hand out an
award here.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
On the show.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
It is the gift giving season and we're going to
hand out another one like we do all throughout the
NFL season. It is our TGFG Game of the Week Award.
Two lucky participants this weekend in the NFL will receive
that award, so we'll have that for you again. Coming
up here a little over ten minutes from now, so
quick update, SMU is on the board. Congratulations to the Mustangs.
(12:32):
Twenty eight to three is the score. They have just
tried an on side kick recovered by Penn State, so
a little under eleven minutes left to go in the
third quarter, and Penn State's got a good field position
after recovering the on side kick. There, So Penn State
twenty eight to three over SMU again ten minutes. Are
a little under eleven minutes left to go in the
(12:54):
third quarter of that game there in State College. Also,
the Kansas City Chiefs have a fourteen ten lead over
the Houston Texans under a minute left to go in
the first half. Houston has the ball in case territory.
We'll keep you up to speed on all that throughout
the course of the show with Isaac Low and Crown,
who was with us here. Now, there is a potentially
(13:15):
trouble for the AFC. All right, We've got some trouble
here because there is the possibility, if a few things
happen this weekend, that all of the playoff spots will
be clinched in the AFC, and on top of that,
(13:37):
the divisions will be wrapped up as well too. Now
several things need to happen, all right, just for the
sake of everybody's knowledge on this, Here's what would need
to happen for the AFC to basically have everything wrapped
up here before we hit Christmas in the NFL season
(13:58):
in Week sixteen, First and foremost, by the way interception
by C. J. Stroud, the Kansas City Chiefs have the
ball at their own thirty five yard line. So bad play,
bad throw by Stroud. Casey will hold on to this lead,
assuming there is no turnover as they had an halftime.
But back to the AFC. If the forty nine Ers
(14:21):
beat the Dolphins, if the Browns beat the Bengals, if
the Titans beat the Colts, all of the playoff spots
will be wrapped up. Now, if those results happen, and
then these results happen, the Chiefs beat the Texans, the
Patriots beat the Bills, the Steelers beat the Ravens, all
(14:44):
the playoff spots are wrapped up, and all the divisions
are wrapped up, so you don't even have like a
fight for a division in the final week of the
season that the NFL is hoping for, where they try
and adjust and flex out certain games, and but a
game in primetime on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
You didn't have that.
Speaker 4 (15:00):
And so if you remember the NFL a few years
ago had had a glorious opportunity to where they had
Lions Packers on Sunday Night football. This was green Bay
wins and they get in instead. Seattle got in because
the Lions went in there. They upset Green Bay and
it was kind of like a passing of the torch
(15:22):
in the division because the Lions have been the best
team in the division since that game. They started off
the next year, which was last year, and the Packers
moved on from Aaron Rodgers and you know, he's in
New York and you know, I mean doing whatever they're
doing in New York, just trying to get to the
end of the season, so that final week matters. But
if all of these things happen and you did a
(15:44):
bunch of these things, you know, there has to be
a couple of fluky things, like you know, like listen
to Patriots beating the Bills, please, you know, but if
it happens the AFC whateverything wrapped up, now, people would
look at that and say that's bad news, that's a problem,
that's not what we need. We need intrigue, we need interest,
(16:04):
we need things on the line. That's not what we
need the final weeks of the season. This is a
bad look for the NFL. And to that, I say
not really. Let me ask you a question. Have you
ever had to go to some place or have you
ever had to be at some place? And it could
(16:26):
be anything. It could be the in laws, it could
be or you have to go to a work party,
you have to go pick up food somewhere and the
wait is to and you'll ask a question, they serve booze.
If the answer is yes, it makes everything else better. Now,
(16:47):
for those of you that don't drink, first off, you should. Secondly,
you probably can't relate to that. But let me just
go ahead and explain it this way. Sometimes you need
something there to make the experience better for everybody, but
you just do. That's why people drink on flights. Some
(17:11):
people are nervous flyers. Some people are like, oh man,
I got like five six hours to kill and you know,
I'm hoping I don't get killed.
Speaker 2 (17:17):
But there's there's this flight, and there's a can I.
Speaker 4 (17:20):
Get you anything? Yeah? Can I get a you know,
three Jack Daniels and can I get another two mini
bottles to put in my socks so I can take
with me to baggage claim Some people need that. But
it does improve everything, It makes it better. You go
to a gather you don't want to be at, Hey,
can I get you a beer? Yeah? Absolutely, jeez, things
(17:40):
just improved. If you're the NFL, look at the final
weeks of the season in case they don't mean anything
in the AFC, and why don't you look over to
your friends in the gambling world and say, hey, thanks
for having a beer. We could have while we're sitting
through games that all of a sudden don't matter, because
(18:00):
that's the beauty and the gift of gambling. It makes
every single game better everyone. You're looking at Penn State,
take a tire iron to SMU, who doesn't even seem
like they want to be there. For being honest, they
look miserable. You're watching Penn State bury SMU in State
(18:26):
College and you're thinking to yourself, well, this game's not watchable,
my ass. You ever heard of live betting? You ever
heard of the in game betting? Are you out of
your mind? Like it doesn't matter what the game is
all of a sudden, Hey, it's a wipeout. This game
(18:46):
doesn't matter to you. To me, I got money on
the total. No, that's way gone. You had to place
that before the game. No no, no, no, no, no
no no. That line is moving through route the game.
In fact, there's lines available all the time. If you're
a real flunky degenerate and you go to a baseball
(19:10):
game and you're thinking to yourself, can we just get
out of here? Even with the pitch clock, this game
takes way too long. You can literally bet on what
the next pitch is going to be. I'm not even
making that up. You could go on and choose if
the next pitch is going to be a breaking ball
or a fastball. This is where gambling is most beneficial.
(19:40):
Why do you think when people talk about, hey, what's
the best beer to have, they always point to the
airport beer as being like one of the top options.
Why do you think that is because you're stuck in
a place. It's basically a shopping ball with UFOs flying
around everywhere. A bag of fruits is eleven dollars. If
(20:05):
you want to bring a water and go fill it
up at one of those water things, it looks like
it hasn't been cleaned by anybody there. None of the
staff is there. The bathroom always smells. Every time you
go to grab a toilet seat cover, they're always gone.
So you got to like meticulously put the toilet paper
on top of the seat, make sure you double layer
it because it's one ply. They can't get two ply
at an airport. But you know what you walk out
(20:27):
of there. The soap you used to wash your hands
is dry it out. You look like a gargoyle from
the wrist down.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
You turn it.
Speaker 4 (20:35):
Left and there it is a bar. They don't even
have to have a lot of options. They don't have
to have to have draft beer. They could have a
trough with ice and like two or three options of
light beers, and you're like, I'll take two. Makes everything better.
If you're the NFL, start embracing this stuff. And if
(20:56):
you're one of these people out here worried about what
what would be on the line last week of the season,
if everything gets wrapped up, stop complaining. You get the
final week of the regular season, final weeks of the
regular season in the NFL. You got all sorts of
options out there. Start gambling your ass off. It makes
everything taste better. It's like hot sauce at a table.
(21:17):
I've been telling you that for years. Man, this chicken's
a little bland. Here's some tabasco. Oh yeah, what is it?
It's called the total of fifty four and a half.
What do you mean, Take a bite out of that, NFL,
Have a swig of that, NFL. If you want to
make these games better, if you want to make the
(21:38):
games matter, if everything gets wrapped up this weekend, start
gambling fixes everything. At the Jonas Knocks on X. At
the Jonas Knocks On X. By the way, Countdown to
Kickoff is every Sunday morning at ten am Eastern Time,
right here on Fox Sports Radio. Countdown to Kickoffs presented
(22:01):
by BETMGM, Briano, Jeff Schwartz, Professional Better, Bill Krackenberger. They're
gonna have you covered three hours before kickoff every Sunday morning.
So listen to Countdown to Kickoff presented by BETMGM right
here on Fox Sports Radio and on the iHeartRadio app.
And those are guys right there that know exactly what
I'm talking about.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
They're never worried about a boring NFL game.
Speaker 4 (22:23):
Want to know why, because they've always got juice on
it fixes everything. Coming up next, we are going to
have ourselves an award here on the show. It is
our TGFG Game of the Week. We do it every
single week during the football season. That is yours here
on Fox Sports Radio. But right now for all the
latest from around the world of sports. This man could
(22:47):
make anything interesting. He could take sand and have flowers
bloom from it. He is high atop the mountaintop of
Sportstock Radio. Anybody below him is simply the gum on
his shoe. He is the one, he is the only.
(23:10):
He is the magnificent Sir Isaac Lonkar and.
Speaker 6 (23:13):
I'd like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Jonas
Knox for his most generous and welcomed Christmas present earlier
this week.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
That was very magnanimous of you. That was met for Steve.
You can't sorry, you can't leave good enough. I'm sorry
about that. I'm sorry.
Speaker 6 (23:38):
You know why I know it wasn't for Steve is
because it was so damn cheap. You never would have
gotten that for Steve.
Speaker 4 (23:45):
That is true. Yeah, Steve gets the good stuff. You
got the dollar, you got the dollar treat gift card.
Speaker 6 (23:50):
Yeah, I mean, you know, I saw Steve driving in
or driving out the other day with all sorts of
blue diamond earrings, Rolex watch, and on the he showed
me the Rollocks watch. Inscribed on the side was JK,
which I assumed did not stand for just kidding.
Speaker 4 (24:12):
You know that reminds me. You remember that John Clayton.
This is Sports Center commercial, of course. Ionic He's like,
he's working from his home. The late Great he's working
from his home, and they're like, all right, thank you,
and they go to break and all of a sudden,
he unties his hair. He's got this big mullet in
the back, and he's wearing a Slayer T shirt and
starts listening to metal.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
Oh man, I missed John Clayton. The ponytail was real.
Speaker 1 (24:36):
Mom, I'm done with that segment.
Speaker 6 (24:39):
Speaking of being done, how's that for a segue? First
round of the college football Playoff. It's Penn State thirty
one SMU three, six h nine left to play in
the third quarter. Two of Penn State's four touchdowns have
come on picks sixes and Jonas.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
Here's how one of the picks six sounded.
Speaker 6 (24:59):
Curtis of a new affiliate that I've never heard of before.
Here's how it sounded on k LVR.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
Get loose, Come.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
Yeah, get up, get loose the fault?
Speaker 4 (25:13):
Come on?
Speaker 2 (25:14):
What'd you think of that?
Speaker 4 (25:17):
By the way, I know exactly where LeVar Arrington is
right at this moment because we were in state college
sure something a half ago or something like that. Yep.
And I can assure you he's not cold at all.
I can assure you. I'll promise you that.
Speaker 6 (25:33):
I'll just take your word for it speaking of being cold,
SMU fans, including at J. M. Kirk nineteen seventy four,
who posted a short time ago quote, it looks like
I'm going to have to shift my focus back to
Christmas and being thankful for my family and crap like
that unquote again. SMU trailing Penn State thirty one to three,
(25:54):
and they now have five minutes and twelve seconds left
to play in the third quarter. Meanwhile, in the NFL,
they've just gone to halftime at Arrowhead and the Kansas
City Chiefs have a seventeen to ten lead over the
Houston Texans. Patrick Mahomes playing despite the spring ankle last week,
and he happens to be Kansas City's leading Rusher at
halftime with twenty seven rush yards in Flordiga fifteen yard
(26:16):
touchdown run. Houston Texans quarterback C. J. Stroud sixteen of
twenty five for one nine. He has a touchdown pass
of his own, but has been intercepted twice again. The
Chiefs seventeen the Texans ten at halftime at Arrowhead Jones.
Speaker 4 (26:29):
The way, By the way, is anybody like claiming now
that Patrick Mahomes was faking the injury based on.
Speaker 6 (26:36):
Check your check, your check, your Twitter mentions? Oh, is
that is ever really happening? I know that's really happening. Okay,
literally in your Twitter mensions and how can I put
this delicately, in the same tweets are allusions to nuts?
Oh yeah, yeah, no kid, huh no. Not not necessarily almonds,
(26:58):
not necessarily fastaf not necessarily Macadamian Macaanamians.
Speaker 2 (27:02):
I'll put it that way.
Speaker 4 (27:03):
Yeah. Well, I mean, look, that's part for the course
of this audience. It just you knew this was going
to happen. I was saying it last year that there
was eventually going to be a shift where all of
a sudden people started hating the Kansas City Chiefs, like
just like the Patriots. When the Patriots won their first
Super Bowl. Remember they came out as a team against
the Rams, and everyone's like, oh my god, the underdog,
(27:25):
the feel good story. Everybody loved this. I mean the
New England Patriots.
Speaker 2 (27:29):
They did it.
Speaker 4 (27:29):
One of the great upsets of all time, and like
four or five years later.
Speaker 2 (27:34):
Everybody hated they were the evil Empire. Oh my god.
Speaker 4 (27:37):
They couldn't wait for them to lose to the Giants
and have their perfect season ruin.
Speaker 2 (27:40):
They couldn't win.
Speaker 4 (27:41):
And so now the Chiefs are at the point now
to where if Patrick Mahomes suffers a high ankle sprain,
all right, and it's not like they're just throwing this
out there.
Speaker 2 (27:49):
He had to get.
Speaker 4 (27:50):
Tested, he had to get imaging done, suffers a high
ankle sprain. You can clearly see the injury as you
watch the game, and his leg bends back the wrong way.
Last week, guys back four days later with no injury designation,
and people are calling him a faker when he when
he's leading the team and rushing in the first half.
Speaker 6 (28:07):
And that's in addition to the theory that the refs
have been in the bag for the Chiefs all season too.
Speaker 4 (28:14):
Listen, there are some calls that are uh, I mean,
you know, I love a conspiracy theory, big fan. But
you know, I mean there are some stuff out there.
Does it does look a little funny, It seems a
little Yeah, it seems a little funny there, but holding not.
I mean, look, if you're offside, you're offside.
Speaker 7 (28:35):
That's what it is.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
Where's Robert Stack and a trench coat?
Speaker 4 (28:40):
Who we need him of? One of the great shows
of all time. Man, that that show could make missing
car keys terrifying.
Speaker 6 (28:50):
The music alone, this gave me nightmares when I was
a kid. Yeah, this and Rescue nine one one with
Bill Shatner.
Speaker 4 (29:00):
So good, so good?
Speaker 8 (29:03):
What about the one that Oh man, I'm forgetting his name?
Commander Jonathan Freakes. What was that show?
Speaker 4 (29:12):
I don't know, I don't, I don't know.
Speaker 8 (29:13):
It was like, oh man, I'm gonna have to look
this up. Yeah, less he had the was it the
not this time?
Speaker 7 (29:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (29:22):
Sure, I take it. You don't mean Star Trek the
Next Generation? No? No, oh god, no, no, we don't.
We don't allow that dorky stuff on this show. No
beyond belief factor fiction, that's what it was. That was
creepy too. Yeah, I'm not familiar with that. I am
familiar with the fact that SMU looks like they on
the board again. How about that two field goals from
(29:43):
SMU really closing the gap here down twenty five with
three twenty to go left in the third quarter? There,
So wait, was he short on that?
Speaker 1 (29:53):
He missed it?
Speaker 2 (29:54):
Did he really have missed it?
Speaker 4 (29:56):
It looked good?
Speaker 7 (29:56):
I know.
Speaker 4 (29:57):
Sorry, Well, listen, he's down twenty eight. Whatever, Hey, round down.
If you're an SMU fan, you don't have six, you
still got three, all right? So Jonas Knox here Fox
Sports Radio. By the way, we are gonna have another
edition of Do You Care because we're tired of the
negativity on this show. We want some positive stuff here.
We're focused on the positive. So Do You Care will
be yours here in about ten minutes from now here
(30:18):
from the tire rack dot Com studios. But right now
it is the gift giving season. We are ready to
give out another one here, ladies and gentlemen. It is
our tg FG Game of the Week for Week sixteen
and the NFL, and that award goes two.
Speaker 1 (30:34):
Jaguars and Raiders.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
Good christ, who the hell's going to this game?
Speaker 5 (30:40):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (30:40):
My god.
Speaker 4 (30:46):
You imagine having like a big event planned in Vegas
this week and being like, put the Raiders that are town,
there's no way we're gonna be able to compete with that.
And then you look and realize, oh, never mind, they're
playing the Jaguars.
Speaker 2 (30:59):
Jesus.
Speaker 4 (31:00):
If the Jaguars can't draw flies in Jacksonville, which is
why they play multiple games in a row in London, now,
what do you think they're gonna draw in Vegas? Do
you think anybody in Jacksonville is like, hey, man, our
team's really done it for us this year. They're leaving
London all the time. Let's travel to Vegas to go
see him play the Raiders. These two teams stink out loud,
(31:24):
and if you're the Raiders, you've got no hope.
Speaker 2 (31:26):
There's no hope because you're looking.
Speaker 4 (31:28):
Around in your own division going, my god, I saw
what we saw on Thursday night. We got to deal
with that for the next decade. Oh and we got
a deal with a cyboard quarterback who apparently suffers a
high ankle spray blows a snot rocket and four days
later he's healthy again. But nonetheless, at least you've got
the Jaguars coming to down So congratulations to the Jags
(31:49):
and the Raiders are tg FG game of the Week
in Week sixteen, And again this is why gambling always
saves the day and always will because if not for gambling,
who the hell's watching this game? In week sixteen during
a holiday weekend? Geez, how many Raiders season ticket holders
(32:11):
were like looking around going, hey, you want my tickets? Hello? Hello,
Like you could a dollar. You couldn't get a bum
on Fremont Street to want to go to that game.
Like there's a homeless guy on Fremont Street who just
literally won penny slots to go pay for a shrimp
(32:34):
cocktail somewhere for a dollar seventy five who got offered
tickets to the Jags and the Raiders this weekend. And
we're like, yeah, I got stuff going on. I got
a big job interview the next day. Not gonna be
able to make it. What a joke. Jonas Knocks here
Fox Sports Radio at the Jonas Knocks on X. I
told you we're gonna be up beating positive and we're
gonna do so. Next here from the tiraq dot Com

Speaker 4 (33:10):
Jonas Knox Foxsports Radio coming up top of next hour,
little over twelve minutes from now here from the tire
Rack dot Com studios. It's the most tired discussion in football,
and for some reason it has made its return. Like
I thought we were over it. I thought this was
gonna end, it was all gone. Apparently not that is
(33:31):
the case. It's happening right now in real time. We
will discuss it here a little over twelve minutes from
now here on Fox Sports Radio. A reminder, though, if
you've missed any of this show, you can check out
the podcast. Just search Fox Sports Radio wherever you get
your podcast. Be sure to also follow, rate and review
it again. Just search Fox Sports Radio wherever you get
your podcasts. You'll see this show posted right after we
(33:53):
get off the air. I will also tweet out a
link to that podcast as well too, at the Jonas
Knox on x right now though, Oh it is time
for this.
Speaker 5 (34:02):
There are so many stories in the world of sports,
and most of them are a complete waste of time.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
DMG reports.
Speaker 5 (34:10):
Let's get kinky. Here's some of the big stories from
the last week. But Jonas, the real question is do
you care?
Speaker 4 (34:18):
Yeah? For that, we turn it over to our executive
producer Patrick Sweek and I'll find out what the hell
people have been talking about all week.
Speaker 7 (34:23):
Pat Well, Jonas, I'll tell you what people have been
caring about. Well, Jonas, are you a Madden NFL type
of a guy, because this one's for.
Speaker 1 (34:31):
You, that.
Speaker 2 (34:35):
Is correct.
Speaker 7 (34:37):
Jets owner Woody Johnson, I'm sure his name's been in
the news recently, did not want to trade for a
wide receiver Jerry Judy because of his scouting on his
low Madden ratings.
Speaker 1 (34:49):
Jonas, do you care?
Speaker 7 (34:52):
Yeah? I do.
Speaker 2 (34:52):
I love it here and let me let me tell
you why.
Speaker 4 (34:55):
First of all, the last Madden game I bought was
whatever one had Dante Culpepper on the cup, which I
think was like three.
Speaker 2 (35:03):
Yeah, I think it was Mad No. Three.
Speaker 4 (35:04):
So that I got to tell you how many video
games I've played over the last two decades. Let's go
live to our I've got some thoughts on video games
insider Christopher efer The later.
Speaker 8 (35:13):
The story goes a little bit deeper too, because it's
from Woody Johnson's son, and I cannot handle this. Did
you see the name of his son.
Speaker 4 (35:21):
Yeah, Brick and Jack Brick Johnson.
Speaker 5 (35:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (35:24):
I mean, listen, no, it cannot be real.
Speaker 4 (35:26):
Okay, But here's the problem with this whole thing, Like
I looked at it, because they even asked Jerry Judy
about it, and Jerry Judy's like, uh no, I don't
believe it. And I thought it when I saw it too,
I was like, this is too ridiculous. Look, I know
it's the Jets, but even this is not true. And
then you go and find out no, like they did
it for other players, Like it wasn't just Jerry Judy,
(35:48):
this was like not that uncommon in the building. Like, oh,
the whole the whole thing is comical. And the reason
why I care about it is because somebody's gonna take
that job. Somebody's going to sign up for that job
to be the general manager and to be the coach
and be like, this is the greatest day of my life,
not realizing you've just walked into a circus tent, like
(36:11):
this is not a real office.
Speaker 2 (36:13):
It is a circus tent.
Speaker 4 (36:15):
Okay, you don't have a cubicle, You've got a unicycle.
And that is what that person who says yes to
the job is going to encounter. And I'm gonna be
here to watch the demise of it, just like everybody
else has seen over the past several decades.
Speaker 7 (36:28):
Next well, Jonas Kevin Durant recently stated that he hates
the newer NBA All Star format and apparently wants to
go back to the classic East versus West.
Speaker 2 (36:40):
Do you care?
Speaker 4 (36:41):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (36:41):
I do, because he's right.
Speaker 1 (36:43):
I love it.
Speaker 4 (36:44):
Look what are you doing? Like?
Speaker 2 (36:48):
This is like this like the and it's not.
Speaker 4 (36:50):
This is not just the NBA. Okay, this is not
just piling on the NBA. Who's had a rough week.
The NFL does this stuff too, like the NFL, Like oh,
we've all we've adjusted our Pro Ball to where now
you know you could kick make kicks and play tic
tac toe and uh hey look at this. Who wants
to play Connect four with with receiver gloves? It's so dumb.
(37:13):
There's an easy fix. Just go back to the way
it was. Do East versus West. If you're the NFL
you want to fix the Pro Bowl. I've said it
for years. Go back to Hawaii, Like who the hell
wants to go to Orlando to play shuffle board? Like
what is?
Speaker 7 (37:31):
Like?
Speaker 1 (37:31):
What?
Speaker 4 (37:32):
Why nobody wants this crap? Go back to the classics.
Sometimes the classics are better, just like in Christmas Music.
Speaker 7 (37:40):
Next, All right, Jonas, do you care that Adam Silver
is considering moving the latest and greatest NBA Cup out
of Las Vegas? No?
Speaker 4 (37:50):
I don't care.
Speaker 2 (37:51):
I don't care.
Speaker 4 (37:53):
Like that you talk about like an idea that a
sports league has put together that went over like a
fart in church, Nobody gives a rip about the NBA Cup.
You get weird looks and side eyes. But like I said,
like really, this is like a real thing. Like imagine
(38:16):
you're sitting in a pew in church and it's you know,
Christmas Eve, and you're you're paying your respects and you're
sitting there and everybody's dressed up nice, and they're they're
about ready to hand out the Eucharist, and you know,
they're going over everything, and all of a sudden, some
guy rips off a foghorn with chili and ipa mixed
in as the aroma and then looks at you and goes, yeah,
(38:38):
that's a real thing. Like imagine, that's like, that's normal,
That's what this is. Like they just throw out this
tournament in the middle of the season that even the
team who won didn't even go celebrate.
Speaker 2 (38:48):
Nobody gives a rip, nobody cares.
Speaker 7 (38:51):
Next, all right, Jonas, a rugby player in England was
tackled during the game by who Jonas, a deer importedly
decleted the.
Speaker 2 (39:01):
Guy because it ran into him so hard.
Speaker 1 (39:03):
Do you care?
Speaker 4 (39:04):
Yeah? I do? Well. First of all, I also care
about this. I gotta know what your dad's algorithm is
because I've never seen somebody who has more news stories
pop up of animals running onto playing fields. I know,
Like what it's like?
Speaker 2 (39:17):
What is he?
Speaker 4 (39:18):
Is he playing like real life duck hunt? Like it's
being a video games.
Speaker 2 (39:22):
Legacy Kambella dangerous gig case.
Speaker 4 (39:26):
Every week there's a story about an animal running onto
a field somewhere and annihilating one of the contestants, Like
it is, It is wild, But you gotta keep your
head on a swivel.
Speaker 7 (39:38):
All right.
Speaker 4 (39:39):
If you're outdoors, they were there first, so you got
to deal with the repercussions.
Speaker 7 (39:42):
Next, all right, Jonas, Well, do you care that a
pair of British brothers have amassed the world's largest collection
of and I'm counting Pokemon cards, it's forty eight thousand Jonas.
Speaker 2 (39:55):
Jesus Christ, No, I hate this.
Speaker 4 (39:59):
I'm not trying to be judgmental, make because I know
people make a lot of money on Pokemon. Like, I
know that there's like NFL players who have made a
lot of money on it, like and look, it's better
than selling drugs kind of like and like it's close.
Like it's a little too close for comfort for me.
I'm not into it, but if you're into it, it
(40:20):
beats doing a lot of other things, like not listening
to this show. Hour two is next here on FSR.
So apparently it is back right wind. You thought that
we had seen the end of one of the great
traditions in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (40:37):
It is back.
Speaker 4 (40:37):
We'll get into the details on that for you coming
up here in just a couple of moments from now.
Jonas Knox, Fox Sports Radio. You can listen to this
show as always on the iHeartRadio app. You can find
us on hundreds of affiliates all across the country and
wherever you are making us a part of your Saturday afternoon.
We appreciate you doing so. We are going to take
(40:58):
you all the way up until the end of this
hour for PM Eastern time, one o'clock Pacific, and we're
doing it all live from the tire rack dot Com
studios tire rack dot com. We'll help you get there
in Unmatt's selection fast free shipping, Free road has a
protection and over ten thousand recommended.
Speaker 2 (41:11):
Installers tire rack dot com.
Speaker 4 (41:13):
The way tire buying should be so pretty emotional scene
right now at Arrowhead in Kansas City where Tank Dell
made a hell of a catch for a touchdown to
cut the lead to seventeen to sixteen with eleven forty
to go in the third quarter, but he took a
(41:35):
hit to the side of his knee went down with
the injury. They had to bring a cart out to
load him up and take him away. C J. Stroud
is crying and there are players that are pretty tore
up about the whole situation. There so obviously a serious
knee injury, and we will keep you posted if we
get in the details on how bad the injury is.
Speaker 2 (41:56):
It was hard to tell. I mean, it was a
great catch.
Speaker 4 (41:58):
I thought he actually was holding his hand after he
went down, but apparently he was pointing to his knee.
So the extra point is pending there as the Texans
are looking to tie the game. It is up and
extra point is no good wish, not great for the
Houston Texans. It is seventeen sixteen there, so they do
(42:21):
close the gap, but Kymi Fairbairn misses the extra point
and so the chiefs of they seventeen to sixteen lead
eleven forty to go. We'll keep you posted on the
game result, also the result if we get any information
on the injury to Tank Dell, we will have that
as well too. Jonas Knox, Fox Sports Radio. So elsewhere
in the world of football, there is a dismantling that
(42:41):
is taking place. That dismantling is Penn State and SMU.
The Nitney Allons have been in control of.
Speaker 2 (42:48):
This entire game.
Speaker 4 (42:48):
They've got a couple of pick sixes, the defense has
been dominant. They are leading thirty eight to three over
SMU with ten minutes and forty one seconds left to
go in the game. There Pennce Date will advance to
the next round. This game is over. It's a wrap.
And my point earlier in the show was like it's
(43:09):
apparent that like home field advantage matters, Like home field
advantage is a real thing, and you've seen it throughout
the first couple of games to where Indiana could not
match that advantage that Notre Dame had and that's in
state like they couldn't match it. I didn't. I don't
know if the weather was as much as an impact
(43:29):
on Indiana because obviously they're in the same state. They've
dealt with this before. SMU does look like they cannot
and have not been able to manage the weather and
the conditions and the home field advantage, and so the
home field advantage of all this is a real thing.
You've seen it play out for through the first two games.
(43:50):
That we'll see how it looks in Austin with the
conditions a little bit better and Daboswiney who's played in
a ton of big games and coach and has been
in a ton of big games as coach of the
c Empson Tigers. And then obviously we get to see
what happens with Tennessee and Ohio State later on. But
that's my big takeaway is that if you were looking
to create an atmosphere and the idea of the college
(44:11):
football Playoff was to award the better teams with home
field games and home field advantages early on. We've now
seen through two games that worked, like you've done that.
If that was one of the goals, reward those teams,
give them a home playoff game because we know the
atmosphere is going to be awesome. It's been a total success,
(44:32):
total success. Just the lead up, the build up, the scenes,
the sites, the sounds of State College of Happy Valley
in South Bend last night been a total success for
college football. So congratulations to them. But here's the problem.
If people bitch and moan over one thing, chances are
(44:57):
they're going to bitch and moan over something else. It's
just the truth. I'm sorry. It just is like there
are certain people who are grateful to receive a twenty
dollars bill for Christmas, or twenty dollars in general for Christmas.
(45:21):
There are people that are grateful, Like if you handed
somebody one hundred bucks for Christmas, he'd be grateful, you would,
But then other people would bitch if they were like
tens and fives mitched it been mixed in, you know,
like can I get like just one hundred or just
like five twenties. Please, like it spends the same, it's
(45:42):
the same, but no, no, no, I got I gotta have
it my way. It's got to be perfect. Okay. There's
just some people that are built that way, and apparently
there's some college football fans that are just built that way.
You give them a playoff. They've been complaining that there
is no playoff. It's only yeah, we with four teams,
we need more than that. You give them one. And
(46:03):
then they complain Indiana had no business speed on the
field with Notre Dame. Okay, SMU completely outclassed. You can't
tell me if they put somebody else in here, they
wouldn't have get Okay, all right, So now we're doing
this to where you get the college football playoff expansion.
(46:27):
You get the home games, you get the atmosphere advantage,
you get all that stuff. But we're not happy with
the teams that are involved. And that's the problem. Like,
if you expand it to twelve, the thirteenth team has
got a bitch. You expand it to sixteen, the seventeenth
team is gonna bitch. Just like in the NCAA tournament
(46:48):
you go to sixty four teams, team sixty five feels
like they should have been in. It's like, if you
want to argue about the reseeding of the college football Playoff, like,
you know we should reced, you know one team has
a better path than the other and all, Like, if
you want to argue about that, that's fine. But like,
just because it happens one time, or just because it
(47:11):
happens the first year, doesn't mean this is going to
be the norm moving forward. Like, welcome to an expanded
playoff field where you might get some mismatches and you
might get some upsets.
Speaker 2 (47:26):
And I got news for you.
Speaker 4 (47:28):
If Clemson beats Texas or Tennessee goes into the shoe
and beats Ohio State, is anybody gonna be talking after
the fact about whether or not Indiana and SMU should
have been on the field in either of these games? Anybody, Like,
if you're conditioned to bitch, you're going to bitch about everything.
(47:49):
It's just who you are. If you get a twenty
and you don't like that, there are it's a ten
and two fives. Chances are you also don't like. If
you order your meal and the appetizer doesn't come out
precisely seven minutes before the main course, that's just who
(48:11):
you are, and apparently that's just who college football fans are,
so and so deserved to be in there more than them.
See also after the result, now we're okay, I got it,
all right, I got it. That's like seeing somebody who's
more successful than you and being like, well, I mean
(48:32):
if I was in their position, I'd be way better
than them. Yeah, but you're kind of missing out on
like the steps that got him there, you know, like
winning games. You're kind of missing out on that. You know,
if I got all the breaks he did, I would
be way better at that job. Oh yeah, what about
like all the work, all the staying late after work,
(48:53):
all the picking up, the shifts that you didn't want,
the working on the holidays that you refused to do,
all of that stuff. What about that? Do you factor
into any of that into the equation or No. You
just want to look at how they're performing and say
I would have done a better job. Well you would have,
but you didn't get the job, and you want to
know why because you didn't work hard enough, you didn't
(49:13):
do enough. It's like people are sitting here burying Indiana, like,
oh Signatio. They got exposed. Okay, did you ever think crazy?
This is just crazy? Did you ever think that maybe
Notre Dame's just really good? Maybe like that, maybe yeah
they lost in Northern Illinois, but since then, like Notre
(49:36):
Dame's pretty good, do you ever think that? Or maybe
like Penn State's pretty good, like Penn State's two losses
or to who you know, like two of the better
teams in the country. Like it. So like when we
have these discussions and people are talking about this stuff,
it's like hold on, like you're missing key steps to
all of this. Like you may not like that somebody
(49:57):
is ahead of you, and you may not like and
how they're performing in that job that they have over you,
but you probably also haven't taken the time to investigate
whether or not you could have done more to get
that job. And if you're one of these other schools,
it's got a complaint like an Alabama, an Ole, miss
you know, a South Carolina, a Miami if you're one
(50:19):
of the dude, do better, Like you don't like Indiana's
strength iss gets Okay, fine, you don't like. What do
you want to do? Not play those games? Like they
won all those games except for one they were in
that position. They went to Notre Dame and they got buried.
(50:40):
It's gonna happen when you expand the playoffs. That's how
this works. You're gonna see some blots, and you know what,
you're also gonna see some upsets. This isn't a seven
game series. It's not like the NBA. It's not like
you've got a bunch of chances. Oh my god, so
and so one game one and then all of a
sudden they lose the next four.
Speaker 2 (50:58):
It's not like that. These are one offs.
Speaker 4 (51:04):
It's like the NFL, where sometimes you'll see an upset.
And in college football, I got news for you. Just
because through the first two games it's been shock and
the home team has had that advantage and dominated these games.
It doesn't mean the next two we're going to go
like that. And if the next two go the opposite,
we're not even having this conversation anymore. It's the first
(51:26):
time for this, and people are complaining because that's what
they like to do. If you complain about one thing,
you're gonna complain about the next. At the Jonas Knox
on X. At the Jonas Knox on X and you
can hang out with us as always on the iHeartRadio app.
All right, it's coming up next here from the Tirak
dot Com studios. We've got ourselves a little bit of
an update, and we've got conflicting reports on this update
(51:51):
in the NFL. That'll be yours right here on FSR.
Speaker 1 (51:56):
Jonas has counted today.
Speaker 4 (51:58):
Jonas Knox, Fox Sports Radio, the least Navidad is right,
by the way, I haven't had one Tomalie this holiday
season thus far.
Speaker 2 (52:12):
That's impressive, well, disappointing, a little disappointing.
Speaker 4 (52:17):
Oh, last year was such a mess that my wife
was like, I'm not doing it again. So we gotta
wait till Christmas Eve because we usually have like a
a pre you know, Mexican Christmas party here at the house.
And yeah, last year was I.
Speaker 8 (52:35):
Was gonna say, I remember, now, last year you were
like sitting among a mountain of Tamali's while you were
trying to do the show.
Speaker 4 (52:40):
Yeah, well, you know, some people bailed at the last second.
So last year's Tamali's were a little underwhelming because I
was making them so not Now I know why, Okay,
now I know why they do it one time a year,
like now I know why if you ask somebody in
July to make you Tomali's, they're like, kiss my ass
(53:03):
because it's not refused to like it is. So it
takes so long and is so time consuming. Now I
get it. You make it one time a year, you
throw whatever you don't eat that night into a freezer,
and then you dust those off every two to three
weeks afterwards. Like it is, it's a real pain in
the ass. So for those of you out there partaking
in a tomali or two during this holiday season, just
(53:24):
know the work that went into making those and know
that they were guaranteed better than the ones I tried
to make last year.
Speaker 2 (53:30):
By the way, quick update on the football games.
Speaker 4 (53:33):
Penn State thirty eight ten, the lead, three and a
half minutes left to go in the fourth quarter. There
they are onto the next round. Congratulations to Penn State
and the Kansas City Chiefs have scored Xavier Worthy on
a touchdown extra point is good case twenty four Houston
sixteen two forty two to go in the third quarter.
(53:54):
Isaac Lohan Kron will have the more detailed and I'll
be honest with you, better updates on all those coming
up when you hear from him in about ten minutes
from now, after you hear from Isaac. By the way,
you are going to hear about misery in the world
of football. Somebody is on the brink of it, and
it's somebody who's actually very very good. Right, So we'll
(54:15):
explain who that is again, coming up here in about
ten minutes from now from the ti raq dot com studios.
Now we've got ourselves a little bit of an update,
but there's conflicting reports on this, so as you recognize
and understand and remember and recall, the big story out
of the NFL this week was the fact that the
(54:37):
Atlanta Falcons have benched Kirk Cousins. They have turned to
Michael Pennix Junior. Now, if you've watched Kirk Cousins play
over the last several weeks, not that much of a surprise.
He was in a total slump. He was not playing
well at all. Raheem Morris was as patient as he
could be. And then finally, after the game against the
Raiders on Monday night, a game of which they won,
(55:00):
Raheem Morris is like, well, you know, not shutting the
door on anything, but you know, we'll take a look
at everything involved and then he realized, yeah, it's over,
and so they're going to go to Michael Pennix junior. Now,
my thought on it was going into that situation. If
Atlanta was already eliminated from the playoffs, I think the
move's already made. But the fact that they're still alive
(55:21):
in the division, I didn't think that Raheem Morris would
make the decision and would make the move now, because
why would you turn the keys over to a rookie
quarterback who's never really played in this spot? Was so
much on the line. But Atlanta's probably looking at it going, look,
we need a spark. Kirk Cousins has not given a
(55:41):
set spark. We need to get a look at the future.
And credit to them, and they deserve credit for recognizing
we don't plan on picking as high as we were
last year in the draft. Let's go get our quarterback now,
let's groom him. Hopefully kirk Cousins plays well, plays well
the whole year. But at least now we know what
the future looks like. If they didn't draft Michael Pennix
(56:04):
in the first round this past year, what would their
plan be at quarterback with Kirk Cousins playing the way
he is moving forward, they'd be in a really difficult
spot because they're picking way too far outside of the
top couple of spots where the top two quarterbacks Shad
or Sanders cam Ward are expected to go. So for Atlanta,
everything looks good. Future looks good. You know who also
(56:25):
looks good, Kirk Cousins. Let me tell you why. There's
these reports that are out there. One of them came
out from Adam Schefter, who said that Kirk Cousins, the
expectation is they're going to release him in March before
he has owed the money that he's owed on his contract.
(56:46):
So I guess the Falcons look at it and go,
we're going to cut him before the ten million dollars
roster bonus is due in March, So honest, not a surprise. Now,
Mike Florio is pushed back on that some of the
details in that report. Apparently kirk Cousins has a no
trade clause. He's not expected to waive that no trade
clause to try and help them out because maybe he
(57:07):
resents them a little bit for the fact that they
drafted a quarterback and whatever point is, Kirk Cousins is
done playing for the Atlanta Falcons. He's done unless Michael
Pennix gets injured the rest of the season. You've probably
seen the last time you'll see Kirk Cousins as a
quarterback for the Falcons. But Kirk Cousins in this great spot,
all right, great spot for a couple of reasons. Number one,
(57:32):
he's made hundreds of millions of dollars. All right, So
there's that, Like right off the bat, he's made hundreds
of millions of dollars. Everything is gonna be fine, we
know that. Like everyone talks about he's got one playoff win,
Like it's funny, Like you don't talk about the teams
that he played for that have those one playoff wins,
like you talk about just his one playoff win, which
is funny. It's funny how that works. How apparently you
(57:56):
are not owed any of them. Never mind the fact
that he's had like, you know, really good regular seasons
and a really good career. You're not owed that money
unless you went in the playoffs, apparently, Like that's like,
you know, like that's how this works now. I mean,
Mark Sanchez had a great playoff record, like Kirk Cousins
(58:18):
has been the better quarterback in his career, but based
on playoff it's just like the whole thing. It doesn't
make sense. But people pick and choose when they want
to go down this lane and have this argument. So
Kirk Cousins had a good career, so he's good. Financially,
he's good.
Speaker 1 (58:31):
It's great.
Speaker 4 (58:33):
Here's why he's also good. Somebody's going to want him
next year, Like that's gonna happen. Like and it's not
even just the fact that Baker Mayfield and some of
these other quarterbacks have opened the door for like another opportunity,
which is why Daniel Jones went to Minnesota and all
that and Sam Dart. But somebody's gonna want Kirk Cousins,
(58:56):
just like somebody wanted Joe Flacco when he was retired.
And Kirk Cousins has played good for Kirk Cousins has
played good football this year. So even if he just
wants to go be a backup or a veteran backup somewhere,
somebody's gonna want him, like Aaron Rodgers, Like if he
(59:19):
wants to come back, the Jets would probably welcome him back. Yeah,
you wouldn't be the guy that you would build around
in the future and all that stuff. But there's because
quarterback play around the league, you need people you can trust,
Like especially if you look at next year's draft class
and you go, man, we don't know that there's like
(59:39):
a surefire guy outside of maybe the first one or two.
Kirk Cousins is going to get a job somewhere. He's
gonna be fine. So this whole thing is going to
work out for everybody involved. Kirk Cousins is going to
get out of Atlanta playing fourteen games and making night
(01:00:00):
million dollars. Now. Florio points out that kirk Cousins is
gonna take like a month or so just to figure
out what he wants to do. But whatever he wants
to do, he's straight. He's good because somebody around the
league is going to be like, hey, yes, we'll take him,
Like we'll sign him what. Yeah, he's going to get,
(01:00:21):
you know, a minimum contract or whatever he's going to get,
but there's going to be opportunities for him. Like Joe
Flakka wasn't playing at all, Like we was just sitting
on a couch somewhere and Kevin Stefanski called him up
and said, hey man, we got an injury. You interested, Okay,
Comeback Player of the Year. He has has a job
in Indianapolis the very next year. Now, it doesn't mean
(01:00:42):
that Kirk Cousins is going to play every game next
season or going to play ten games next season, but
if he wants to play next year, he will there
will be jobs for him. So I look at the
Atlanta situation and I go, yeah, it's unfortunate. It didn't
work out for Kirk Cousins and he's he's in a rut,
and he's trying to struggle coming off the injury, and
(01:01:04):
he's in his own head. But if he gathers himself,
figures this thing out, and gets an opportunity next year,
who knows, maybe Kyle Shanahan, who had you know who.
There's been speculation Kyle Shanna I would love to work
with Kirk Cousins, like, maybe that's a spot he could
go to. But the point is this whole situation, we
can try and make it awkward and uncomfortable for everybody involved.
(01:01:27):
Seems pretty clear and easy to me. Atlanta's got their
quarterback of the future. They were proactive when they drafted
him and looked ahead and said, we need to identify
this position of need down the road, and we've identified
a guy that we believe can be that guy down
the road, and we don't plan on picking this sigh
in the draft next year, and based on the quarterback
(01:01:49):
draft class for next year, this is the best move
for us. So they were thinking ahead, they were proactive,
right move, and then Kirk Cousins looks at it and goes, yeah,
I mean yeah, I came here, my wife's family is
from here. I thought this was going to work out.
But you know what, I only got fourteen games. I
struggled in the last few and I got ninety million
dollars out of it. Oh and by the way, if
I decide I want to play football again, based on
(01:02:11):
the quarterback play around the league, there's going to be
an opportunity for me. I mean, James Winston can't help
but turn the ball over and continues to get opportunities.
Kirk Cousins doesn't play like that. He will continue to
get opportunities if he wants to. I look at this
and I go clean, breakup. We're all good here. Everybody
(01:02:34):
goes their separate way, and everybody goes happy. Jonas Knocks

here on FSR. But for all the latest from around
the world of sports, including the final in State College,
the one and only Isaac longcro Of.
Speaker 9 (01:03:21):
Course, we could have told you that two hours ago,
right Jonas, Yeah, but you need it to be official,
you know, exactly, And it is indeed official that in
just a moment we start, however, in the National Football League,
where right now the Kansas City Chiefs have a twenty
four to sixteen lead over the Houston Texans.
Speaker 2 (01:03:40):
They are just over a minute into the fourth quarter.
Speaker 6 (01:03:43):
Now, during the third quarter, Kansas City led this game
seventeen to ten when.
Speaker 2 (01:03:48):
Houston quarterback C. J.
Speaker 6 (01:03:49):
Stroud threw a thirty yard touchdown pass to Tank Dell
in the back of the end zone. However, Dell was
injured on the play. He immediately grabbed his left knee,
his left leg wound up being immobilized by the medical staff.
Dell was then put onto a stretcher and carted off
the field after the touchdown. Then, when play got back underway,
(01:04:11):
Houston's extra point attempt for the tie was no good,
wide to the right. And then late in the third quarter,
Kansas City came back.
Speaker 7 (01:04:21):
Chiefs looking at the triangle side out route, hit his
top touchdown left trunk polon.
Speaker 1 (01:04:26):
Exafiel Worthy is heaving a game.
Speaker 7 (01:04:29):
That's a seven yard touchdown getting to the outside on
a legal pick and the Chiefs lead by seven again.
Speaker 6 (01:04:35):
Mitch Holf is the call on radio station k fn Z. Again,
it's Kansas City twenty four Houston sixteen, just over two
minutes into the third quarter. Right now, however, Houston has
a first down and goal at the Kansas City ten
yard line.
Speaker 1 (01:04:50):
C J.
Speaker 6 (01:04:51):
Stroud scrambled ran out of bounds for a five yard loss.
That'll be second down and goal for the Texans coming
up with the Kansas City fifteen yard line by the
way O Way. Baltimore Ravens receiver Rashad Bateman is active
for today's game against the Steelers. He had been questionable
due to a knee injury. Kickoff a little under one
hour from now. Indeed, in Round one of the College
(01:05:11):
football Playoff, Penn State came up with two pick six's
in what wound up being a thirty eight to ten
rop over SMU. So they will take on three seed
Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl. Coming up at the
top of the hour, Texas plays host to Clemson. The
winner goes up against four seed Arizona State in the
Peach Bowl. Finally, Jonas, we conclude with a college basketball update.
(01:05:36):
So tonight Cal is going to be hosting San Diego State.
The game will be played in San Jose. All the
details you're about to hear reported by the San Diego
Union Tribune Now. Yesterday, San Diego State's commercial flight to
San Jose was canceled because of fog in San Diego.
So last night the Aztecs bust up to Orange County.
(01:05:59):
They scheduled a fly this morning from Orange County to Oakland.
That flight also got canceled because of ah so as
we speak, a group of them are flying out of Ontario, Ontario, California,
to Oakland, and the rest are driving. So to those
who are listening to us right now from the San
(01:06:21):
Diego State men's basketball traveling party, as they frantically drive
up to San Jose hoping to make it by tonight,
we recommend stopping for lunch at the In and Out
Burger in lebeck Off. I five back to a good call.
Speaker 4 (01:06:34):
By the way, did you see that some SMU fans
missed the first quarter of the game in State College?
Speaker 6 (01:06:39):
I did all the big time donors. They're private playing
that got rerouted to Williamsport. But on the bright side,
they theoretically could have been early for the Little League
World Series eight months from now.
Speaker 4 (01:06:49):
Yeah, that is true, But I was so as somebody
who's been to the State College airport, and James Franklin
has talked about it, it's tiny.
Speaker 2 (01:06:59):
There's literally nothing inside.
Speaker 4 (01:07:01):
You walk in the door, you go to the left
and all the planes are right there. I swear it's
a library from the twenties. There's like there's not like
the food, there's no food options, there's a vending machine.
Speaker 2 (01:07:16):
There's nothing there so James Franklin.
Speaker 4 (01:07:19):
Has talked about it, like, hey man, we really got
to do something about this because it's difficult. So LeVar
when he flies out there sometimes and you talk to
people in State College and they're like, dude, don't fly
into here. Fly into Harrisburg and then just take an
uber or get a ride or get a rental car
because there's so many more options when you get there.
So if your flight gets delayed or anything like that,
(01:07:39):
you don't have any issues. So the fact that these
sm people like flew ind Yeah, got some bad news. Guys.
Speaker 2 (01:07:48):
Airport you're flying into is tiny.
Speaker 4 (01:07:49):
So all that money you spent for tickets, we're gonna
have to reroute you, and you're gonna miss the first
quarter of the game, and which is too bad because
right at the start of the game was the closest
they got in this game.
Speaker 2 (01:07:59):
So the fact that they missed all that we missed
the best part.
Speaker 4 (01:08:02):
Yeah, that's unfortunate. But you know, travel safe. As long
as you get there safely, it's all the matters, you know,
all right, Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio. By the way,
another edition of Knox Locks is coming up here in

D Jonas knocks on x at D Jonas Knocks on X. Hey,
by the way, as somebody who was featured in Aaron
Rodgers Netflix documentary, I'm a big fan of it. I'll
tell you that right now. I was not aware that
I was actually in the documentary until Martin Weiss sent
me a tex and said, hey, by the way, episode three,
you can hear your voice talking about Aaron Rodgers. I
(01:10:25):
had no idea, no clue, but there it is. So
if you want to give me some credentials, put that
on an IMDb page. I'd appreciate it. So but nothing
like right before the holiday getting called a bunch of
homophobic slurs here on the air. That's fun. That's fun
for everybody. So welcome to social media in twenty twenty five.
All right, So let's just talk about this here quickly
(01:10:47):
before we get to break because we do have Knox
locks coming up. Whatever you want to say about the
college football playoff, and people can argue about who deserve
to get in and you know, oh, in retrospect, did
Indiana deserve it, did there of it? Blah blah blah
blah blah, whatever you want to talk about. Here's another
thing that I think we can agree on. Ryan Day
and Ohio State have the most pressure of anybody in
(01:11:10):
the College Football Playoff, not even close, literally, not even close.
Everybody in the College Football Playoff feels like they're really
happy to be a part of it. Ohio State feels
like they're so broken down and torn up over what
(01:11:34):
happened against Michigan that I have no idea how the
hell this is going to go. I really don't, but
I do want one thing to happen right now. You
can call me stick in the head. You can say
this is not a healthy way to think. You can
say that this is not fair, it's not appropriate, it's
not right for diehard.
Speaker 2 (01:11:51):
Ohio State fans. This is what I want.
Speaker 4 (01:11:54):
I want Ohio State to be trailing in that game
with about four minutes left. That's it.
Speaker 2 (01:12:05):
Like they can come back and win the game. That's fine,
We're fine with that. But based on what.
Speaker 4 (01:12:11):
I saw in the mood of that stadium and how
it played out on television when they were trailing late
to Michigan and we were on the air when that
was happening doing this show, based on what I saw,
all I want is for Ohio State to be trailing
late in that game, and I want to hear and
(01:12:34):
see and watch the vibe of that stadium when it happens.
Because is somebody who is rooted for bad teams majority
of his life. I can tell you when you are
a team and you expect bad things to happen, which
is what Ohio State expects now based on what they
(01:12:55):
saw against Michigan, when you expect bad things to happen,
or you of the taste in your mouth of what
happened the last time you had a big game here
at home, like, as cub fans, what the next home
game was like? After the Bartman game, there was a
game seven, by the way, Game seven and Wrigley.
Speaker 2 (01:13:18):
After the Bartman game, then another opportunity.
Speaker 4 (01:13:21):
They were leading in that game, they had a lead,
and at no point during the time when they had
a lead in that game, did anybody inside Wrigley Field
feel like, you know what, We're good. Everybody who's waiting
for doom. I'm telling you there is a vibe in
Columbus that will play out if they are trailing late
in that game where Ohio State fans are like, we're
(01:13:42):
gonna lose, and then if it happens, I don't think
it will. I think they're gonna win the game. But
if it happens, the conversation around Ryan Day is going
to be so loud you will not be able to
ignore it. That's all I'm rooting for. I just want
to see somebody stress out a bit, right. You don't
like it all right, you think I'm being mean or cruel.
(01:14:04):
It's just sports. But I just want to see that
play out. Jonas Knox here, Fox Sports Radio. Coming up
next here from the tirak dot com studios. It is
the week sixteen edition of Knox Locks and it's yours
here on FSR. Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio. Quick update
in Kansas City. First down, throwing catch to DeAndre Hopkins,
(01:14:28):
and the Kansas City Chiefs are driving with the football,
leading twenty four to nineteen over the Houston Texans. Patrick
Mahomes playing in this game, of course, he is, even
despite suffering a high ankle spring last Sunday, short week
back on the field. He's got a rushing touchdown and
the Kansas City Chiefs up five twenty four to nineteen
(01:14:50):
six forty and change left to go in the game there,
so make sure you stick around. Coming up in a
little over ten minutes, from now, Alex Curry and arm
of Vitally, we'll have you covered on the latest from
that game and also have the news and notes from
around the NFL. We also got another game coming up
in the NFL Steelers Ravens. You've got Clemson, Texas. You've
(01:15:10):
got Tennessee, Ohio.
Speaker 2 (01:15:11):
State coming up later.
Speaker 4 (01:15:12):
It's a great day of football, NFL and college so
Alex and Karma will have you up to speed on
all of that here as they take over in a
little over ten minutes from now, before we get to
another edition of Knox Locks. Though a reminder shortly after
the show, the podcast will be going up, so if
you've missed any of it, be sure to check out
the pod. Search Fox Sports Radio where you get your podcast.
Be sure to also follow, rate and review it again.
(01:15:34):
Just search Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your podcast.
You'll see this show posted right after we get off
the air. I will also tweet out a link to
this podcast as well too at the Jonas Knox. Right now, though,
it's time for this.
Speaker 1 (01:15:46):
Lock it, let's lotch it Knox Locks all.
Speaker 2 (01:15:53):
Look who's back at five hundred?
Speaker 4 (01:15:55):
That's right, that's what a little three and oh week
in Week fifty, team does for you? The Jets three
point favorites over the Jaguars.
Speaker 2 (01:16:07):
Why they ran the ball.
Speaker 4 (01:16:09):
Into the end zone when they did and not just
settle for the field goal? And this be a push?
I have no idea, but they owted us. If you
remember listening to Knox Locks, they kind of screwed us
in the game against Seattle where they were running away
with it in the first half and then Rogers missed
a throw to Garrett Wilson in the end zone. Then
there was a deflected Leonard Williams pick six and it
(01:16:30):
was over from there.
Speaker 2 (01:16:31):
So they owed us. So now we're back to square
with the Jets, all right.
Speaker 4 (01:16:34):
So the Jets a three point favorite and cover over
the Jaguars. The Cowboys three point underdogs against the Panthers Carolina,
by the way, bang up job to the Panthers and
David Tepper. First time your favorite in a game in
thirty four games and you roll out a bag of
vomit against Dallas. But we were on the right side
(01:16:54):
of that. And listen the Buffalo Bills getting two and
a half points against the Detroit Lions. That game score
not really as close as therer was an indicator. Buffalo
kind of ran and was in control of that game
from the get go. So the Bills plus two and
a half. That completes a three and oh. Week fifteen
here for Knox locks and now back to five hundred,
(01:17:15):
twenty two, twenty two and one on the season.
Speaker 2 (01:17:18):
It's time for Week.
Speaker 3 (01:17:19):
Sixteen, Steelers and Ravens.
Speaker 4 (01:17:23):
I'm taking Pittsburgh, and I'm taking Pittsburgh because I'm getting
seven points. Okay, here's one of the amazing things about
Lamar Jackson. Even though Pittsburgh's banged up, Lamar Jackson and
his struggles against Pittsburgh is not like he has against
anybody else, especially in that division. He hasn't beaten the
Steelers in five years now. There's been some injuries, there's
(01:17:47):
been some games that he's missed because it's late in
the year, like last year and they don't start him.
But if you look at his numbers against everybody else,
he's great. Against Pittsburgh. He always struggles. I know Pittsburgh's
dealing with injury. There's no George Pickens, but I look
at this and I go, I can't imagine Pittsburgh comes
out flat like they did against Philly. Last week, two
(01:18:07):
weeks in a row, and the fact that we've got
history on our side and success on our side. Against
the Baltimore Ravens, i think Baltimore wins the game, but
I think Pittsburgh keeps it within the number.
Speaker 2 (01:18:16):
I'll take the Steelers.
Speaker 1 (01:18:18):
Look, Deka Browns at Bengals.
Speaker 4 (01:18:21):
All Cincinnati minus eight and a half. I'll take that
all day. All of a sudden, they've got hope. Cincinnati
could actually make the playoffs. They need some help, but
with Denver's loss to the Chargers on Thursday night, now,
all of a sudden, they have been given a little
bit of help. So I'm gonna go with the Bengals here.
I think they're charged up. I think they're juiced for it.
I'm gonna take Cincinnati over Cleveland.
Speaker 1 (01:18:43):
Vikings at Seahawks.
Speaker 4 (01:18:45):
Look, I know Seattle's got injuries as well to Gino
Smith stuff. Blah blah blah blah blah. They were so
bad against green Bay, they were so flat at home.
I don't believe that happens. A second week in a
row against the Minnesota team that will give you opportunities
to take it from them. And I'm getting three points
at home I'll take Seattle. And that is your week
sixteen edition of Knox Locks. For Patrick, for Chris Burffett,
(01:19:09):
for Isaac. Thanks so much. Enjoy the holidays, Alex and Carmen,
and next year at FSR Jonas
Speaker 1 (01:19:14):
Son of a Bitch,
