Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening No Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
All right, where were the surprises? That's coming right up?
Good morning, Happy holidays, and away we go. This is
Fox Football Sunday. I'm Andy Furman. My partner Bucket Brooks
would be with us shortly, we hope. And by the way,
we're broadcasting live from the ti iraq dot Com studios.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
Tiraq dot com. We'll help you get there.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
N imatch selection, fast, free shipping, free road has a
protection and over ten thousand recommended and stoles ti iraq
dot com the way Tyer Bying should be.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
You know, look, you know, I'm not the grinch.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
I'm not one of those people that's just always down
and picking and just why. But the point is this,
I'm watching yesterday and maybe the most games I've ever
watched in one setting at one time.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
But this too much, It's too much in one day.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
I just don't understand how you could digest that stuff.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
I get it.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
The people in Vegas is sitting down there and laying
down some good green Backs and Betty.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
That's what they do.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
But look, why all at once they are the three
college games, they had two NFL games and in between
I'm waiting for the Ohio State football game last night
against Tennessee. What did I do? I'm watching Ohio State
Kentucky basketball. It's too much. I don't get it. Why
the overlapping? Maybe I'm crazy, Maybe it's me. Maybe Bucky
Brooks has an answer, because he's the voice of reason
(01:13):
on this show.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
He really is. Bucky. How are you? How are you? Tumby?
Speaker 3 (01:17):
I'm good? Andy? What's going on? You had too much
football yesterday?
Speaker 2 (01:21):
I could get away for the TV. I mean it's ridiculous.
I mean, the overlapping of the sports is nuts. And
to have three of those football games in one day
and then two NFL games, Shame on the NFL. Let
the colleges have their day, really stay on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
I mean, maybe I'm not. Am I the only one
that thinks this. I don't know. Maybe I am.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
You might you are the only one. And this is
why when you think about the NFL and you think
about what they were doing. They had to have games
on Saturday to be able to have the Christmas games
on Wednesday. You have to have a number of days
in between. And if you think about the teams that
are playing on Christmas, it's a a round robin, a jamboree.
(02:01):
So the teams that played on Saturday are gonna be
the same teams that play on Wednesday on Christmas to
just switch in the matchups. So that's why they were
able to do it. I'm sure if they could, they
would have avoided stealing some of the shine from the
college football playoff. But I don't really know if that's
even true.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
And if there was no shin let me say there
was no shine in the college football playoff that wasn't well,
we'll get that in the minute.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
By the way, good morning to you.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
I don't mean to jump all over everybody at one
point in time, but you know, are you ready for
the holidays?
Speaker 1 (02:29):
That's the most important question. That was the family.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
Everything good, Everything is good. I am ready for the holidays.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
There you go, Okay, that's important. Now let's talk about
this college football. I'm all excited.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
I was ready.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
It was supposed to be the greatest twelve teams on
the face of the earth were getting.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Ready for the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
A couple of wards are gonna throw out there, disappointing,
I'll let down, frustrating, maybe even a farce. These are
some of the terms, I think you to toss out
after the first round of this new and almost improved
not improved, but new and.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
Almost improved college football player.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Okay, and I'm gonna let old Miss coach Lane Kiffin
take it from here on his thoughts on the opening
weekend what was hyped up as the best dozen college
football teams in the land. Because he was all over
social media yesterday, the old Miss coach Lane Kiffin. He
was criticized the College Football Playoff Selection Committee, and obviously
it's a little bit of solid grace because his team
didn't get in back to back blowouts in the first round.
(03:22):
Not You Dame over Indiana twenty seven to seventeen. That
game was ugly, not for Oja Dame, but for the
fans point of view. It was ugly Friday night. Okay.
Then you got Penn State. They had a couple of
pick sixers in there. They covered SMU thirty eight ten.
That was on Saturday. I mean, it's unbelievable yesterday what
was going on SMU, Penn State, Clemston, Texas, Texas thirty
(03:42):
eight twenty four that basically was a round. And the last,
but not least, it was Ohio State I mean they
shut out Tennessee in the entire second half forty two seventeen. Look,
you could cut a point the finger at the judges
and the rules committee and.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
What they did with this tournament. I enjoy it. I
like college football, but there's something's got to be missed.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Something's wrong here, and maybe they should just eliminate having
college champions going automatically with the automatic leader. I don't
know what they could do. Well, maybe it just worked
out this when that the games are lopsided.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
I don't know, Andy, I don't know why everyone is
upset about the first round matchups. It's like the NCAA
tournament March Madnis. We don't get upset when the number
one seed blows out the number sixteen seed. We don't
get upset. We may see one upset, you know, five
and twelve has been one. Sometimes four knocks off I
mean thirteen knocks off four. But in general, the first
(04:35):
round of the playoffs are always kind of like chalk,
And what we had an opportunity to see is just
the differences between, like I would say, the heavyweights and
the lightweight teams that were in the tournament. To me,
it was very clear and apparent that in the College
Football Playoff, the jimmies and joe's matter far more than
the x'es and o's, and the teams that advanced were
(04:56):
the teams that had the better jimmies and joe's. And
it was very clear in appearance from the jump. And
I know everyone likes to point out SMU and Indiana
and all the SEC guys were weighing in they shouldn't
have been in. But then I think Tennessee plays in
the SEC right, and Tennessee has some notable wins against
some of those teams that are crying about getting in,
(05:16):
and Tennessee got molliwack by Ohio State. This is the
part of it to me, I don't understand, Like maybe
it's like coach, we just don't like to have nice stuff,
like we finally get something that we want right. We
want to see an expanded tournament. We want to see
all the teams go like it's a bigger field, and
yet we spend most of the day Friday and Saturday
(05:38):
complaining about the matchups that we saw. I really don't
know what we want to see. Like we want every
playoff game to be competitive, it's not even competitive, like
that when we come to the NFL playoffs, I think
we have unreasonable expectations for what this should have been.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
No, I think you're right. I will tell you this much.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
To listen to Old Miss coach Lane Kiff and read
what he had to say on social media, to me,
it sounds like so great. So let's go back and
see why Ole Miss had one of the worst losses
of the year the top twenty five teams. They lost
to Kentucky at home twenty seventeen. That was the dagger
right there. Okay, And it was the only win for
Kentucky against the Power Conference team and the second game
against what brock vandergriff Claire two hundred yards passing. The
(06:19):
other game was against Ohio.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
The Rebels also picked up two more losses during the
season over time. They lost to LSU and what was
the other lost the lost of Florida, I.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
Think as well. So they lost three games.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
So I'm not so certain that that people are gonna
believe what Old Miss coach Langkiff for that to say,
because I don't think this team really deserved to go.
But there is more pushback on these games yesterday than
they wore when they had the four teams and the
fifth team was always pressed against the glass and couldn't
get in. And I don't understand why. I guess people
can make the argument, well, Indiana, they were certainly outclassed
(06:51):
by Notre Dame. But look they finished with a tie
with Penn State and the Big Ten with the record
of eleven and one, and according to the rules and
the rules committee and what the deal was, they go,
that's the way it is.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
Maybe they should change it. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
But again, they didn't play anybody. They only played Ohio
State and that's the team that lost to So I
don't know how it could change it. If you love football,
it was a great day. If you have a team
of favor that you like and they didn't get in,
I'm sorry. You know everybody's still crying about Alabama. Don't
lose three games and you go.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
I mean to me, it's pretty simple, Like that's really
what it came down to. You control your own fate.
Play the teams on your schedule, beat those teams, don't
have any egregious losses, and you're able to go. There's
no way you can leave an eleven to one team
from the Big ten out of the tournament, just like
there's no way that you could have left an SEC
team that had a ten eleven wins out of the
(07:48):
tournament as well. I mean, I think we got exactly
what we expected when it came to the playoff field. Clemson,
who was the champion, Like, they played a competitive game
against Texas, but they were overmatched in those games too.
This is the round where we'll have an opportunity to
really see and I can already the foreshadow will be
(08:09):
uh Arizona State and Boise State. Everyone is going to
watch those games closely because they're going to say if
those teams don't kind of live up to billing, they
will say, we have to recede the top. Guys. Just
because you win your conference tournament doesn't mean your conference
championship doesn't mean that you're automatically guaranteed to buy or whatever.
(08:30):
And so that's that's what we can see. Because I'm
gonna say this, the game that I'm a little worried
about kind of being played too soon is the Oregon
Ohio State matchup, because that appears to be if we
look at teams the entire year, the two best teams
that we've seen in college football.
Speaker 1 (08:47):
They game they.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
Did, they played early on and now we're gonna have
an opportunity to see them again. And so that is
where you may worry about it. But I don't know. Look,
I'm excited to see more football. I like the way
that it's breaking down. Look, I don't like all the
transport portal stuff that is around the college football game.
But I think the twelve team playoff is perfect. It's
no different than the playoffs at the lower levels.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
No, I'm happy because more teams are in, more teams
get a chance to play. And certainly there's always going
to be an argument what teams should have gotten in,
what team that didn't, that did get in, didn't deserve
to get in. And look at the one game I'm
looking at it right now, the Boise State Penn State game.
You know, if Penn State rolls Boise State, there's going
to be those yelling and screaming Boise State in the
Mountain West Conference didn't deserve to be there. That's the
(09:35):
way that you know what, I want to see Boise
State because I want to see their running back.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
That's why I want to see him play.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
And if it means that that's why they got in
because it gets morphed.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
Eyes on the tube.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
So be it.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
That's just the way it is.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
I mean, that's just the way it is. I mean
tournaments should be like that. To me, There'll be some
people that say the more that you're talking about the game,
the better it is, whether it's good or bad. And
we all are talking about college football because we have
a playoff. We've always wanted a playoff and then we
had the opportunity to see how these games go. The
thing that we really need to get to is as
(10:08):
impressive as Notre Dame was, as impressive as Ohio State was,
can the teams that come from kind of like the
play in round run the gauntlet. There's a lot of
football in like a month that you have in the
play and you're playing very intense and competitive games. The
thing that I want to know is can a team win?
Can they go on a four game run to win
(10:29):
the title? Does the SEC and their quote unquote ultra
competitive league prepare these teams for the gauntlet that you
have to run to win the title. There's so many
stories that we can talk about and begin to focus
on outside of hey Man, Miami South Carolina and Oldness
were wrong. I mean, there are other things, because if
(10:51):
those teams are taking care of their business, wouldn't be
an issue.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
You know what, It's great that you said that, because
the people that are yelling and screaming pnomals because their
team didn't get in or another team should have gotten in,
they really should point at the bracket and say, I'm
not too happy, as you suggested, Ohio State's playing Oregon
early on because to me, those two teams are probably
head and shoulders above the rest of the field, and
you'd like to see them play at the end, maybe
(11:16):
for the possible championship. Now, the Notre Dame Georgia game,
that's gonna be a good one. I'm looking forward to
watching that. But look, when you look at these twelve teams,
this sort of evenly matched, and the only two teams
that meet to me are head and shoulders above the
rest or Oregon in Ohio State, and they're gonna meet
and one of them is gonna go home after that game.
Speaker 3 (11:34):
Yeah, I mean that that is something like that. You're
gonna lose some good teams. You're gonna lose some teams
that many of us think should advance farther, should go on,
should play and be the teams that we talk about
being around at the end. But it's not gonna happen.
The thing about it, like regardless, to me, I think
is good. I think the conversation is great. I think
(11:55):
we should continue to look let these teams in and
have these conversations because it's only good for the game.
And you know, did we get that? I'm cool, Okay.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
I want to talk about Ohio State for a second.
Was they they they came out like you know, basically
it was a house on fire. It was unbelievable what
they did. And you talked about their quarterback Will Howard.
I look at this guy and what he did against Michigan.
They lost to Michigan, as we know, thirteen to ten.
And also in that game he threw two picks. All right,
it was amazing. Last night he comes out was he
thought for over three hundred yards twenty four for twenty
(12:26):
nine to two touchdowns, and he rushed for thirty seven yards.
So they changed obviously the whole tack offensively. Because everybody
who I listened to prior to this game, and all
the so called experts, they're gonna run the football, you
know their defense will be tough, and it was. They
didn't run the football, they passed. So they got some
great receivers on that Ohio State team, and that's what
they did. That's what they should have done. And it
worked out three hundred eleven yards and they shut him
(12:47):
out in the second half.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
Tennessee.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
Yeah, really impressive effort. I mean, really impressive effort. They
really got to it. They played fast, They came out
the gate humming, and you know, the playmaking can of
spawned what I would say was their confidence. They got
to it. They look really good. They look like the
team that many of us have been expecting the entire year.
(13:10):
If they continue to play like that, look they're gonna
be hard out. They can be a hard team for
people to deal with, the hard team for teams to
match up with all of that stuff. If you're Ryan
Day and having to listen to all the stuff that
you had to listen to over the past a few weeks,
you're excited that your team was able to come out
and having a very impressive effort.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
He didn't look good when they showed him on the sidelines,
and I mean the rings are hidden under his eyes.
They look like a box who just looks the match. Really,
he must be up all night long kind of doing good,
just doing plays. I mean, it's amazing. I mean he
just looked like a defeated guy prior to that game
on the sidelines.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
I'm happy for the guy.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
He went through what no one should have to go
through with that fan base in Columbus. And more than that,
I think he showed everybody like, look, we're a great team.
You know we had to step back against Michigan day
it happens. And go back again about this tournament. The
one beautiful thing about it that these teams get to
play home games and people don't even bring that up.
(14:07):
They don't bring that point up at all. I think
it's great. I mean, I think it's great for Ohio
State that happened to host a home game for one
hundred thousand people plus. But the point is that it's
great to have an extra home game for these college
teams and the fans can go out and see him
play well.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
I do think that's the part to me that came
out that you want to celebrate the fact that you
were able to see different atmospheres and environments see NPN
State rocking even though it was the middle of day,
but seeing them have their white out Notre Dame looked electric.
The environment there Pen, I mean Ohio State, and how
the shoe went with all the red and they weren't
(14:46):
all the scarlet and all that other stuff like it was.
It was really impressive. It was fun to watch. I
dug it. I just kind of I mean, I'm just
excited about the playoff and all the things and all
the possibilities that eventually take place, right.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
I mean, I'm shocked at Penn State. Penn State is
one of those teams they will win, you know, very
quietly they win. No one talked about them really during
the seasony wrapped around six or fifth around during the season.
Yesterday come out over SMU thirty eight ten and again
James Franklin another one of those guys who can't catch
a break as a coach, him and Ryan Day. Ryan
(15:20):
Day obviously a better record, but you know at Penn State,
he's done a whale of a job, but just somewhat
cannot get over the hump. And I was happy to
see Penn State did that yesterday.
Speaker 3 (15:30):
Yeah, they dig it over the home. They came out
they played really well. Is funny because there are a
lot of expectations on both of those programs, But when
you look at those programs, you try and wonder if
you got rid of those coaches who could advance it farther,
you know. And so we have to be careful and
at a time that we don't want to be so
narrow minded that we allow good coaches to get out
(15:54):
of our programs. Ryan Day and James Franklin two of
the better coaches in college football. They've done a really
good job building those programs up and taking him to
the next level. Sometimes you just have to be patient
to see if you can get what you want out
of it when you're part of that fan base.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
Yeah, and I was surprised with Penn State the quarterby
what juwel Laurie threw for like one hundred and twenty
seven yards. So again, they used the passing game, and
I didn't think they would pass that much. Penn State
to me, like Ohio State, they don't usually pass that much,
but they took the passing game and they did it.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
You know.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
So it was great, it really was. And this Notre
Dame defense, it was unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (16:27):
I mean I have I don't think I've seen a
college team play defense like that in ages. I mean
to you, this swarming defense. I mean, Marcus Freeman's great.
I think Marcus Freeman might be the best coach in
college football and the best coach I guess no, but
I'm telling you he's great. He really is, and he
gets the most the best coach that gets the least recognition.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
Think about it.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
I mean, no one talks about Marcus Freeman. You know,
they talk about every other coach in the country. They
never talk about Marcus Freeman. I think I thought he
did a great job, and he was at the University
of Cincinnati, you know, as an assistant, just a great coach.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
Glady got that deal.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
And the fact that they started this season losing to
Northern Illinois, right and everybody, you're ready to throw the
guy out the door. That's what they do in college
fool with these fans, the fan base, they're crazy, they're obsessed.
Speaker 1 (17:14):
And it came back.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
I mean, they he could have lost the team after
that game, you know, you know what it's like. It
lose to a Northern Illinois should never happen.
Speaker 3 (17:22):
No, but I think it might have been the best
thing to happen to Notre Dame because from that moment
there has been a laser focus that you've seen from
that team, particularly the last seven or eight games where
they've been dominating opponents. This team plays in a way
like an old school style. They're big, they're physical, they
beat you up, they control the game. And I felt
(17:46):
like in that game with Indiana, regardless of what the
score told us, it felt like Indiana had no chance
after about a quarter and a half to knock off
Notre Dame. They were clearly the superior team, and even
though they closed it and cosmetically it looked like a
much closer game, it was a dominant performance from Notre Dame.
And you know, this matchup that they have on the
(18:07):
horizon with Georgian it's gonna be a good one because
in the past, when we receive Notre Dame kind of
in this stage, they would be like a nice story,
but they're not good enough to compete with the heavyweights.
I finally believe that they were built to compete with
the heavyweights, and so seeing didn't take on Georgia, that's
gonna be a fun matchup to watch.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
You know, it's funny because it's on the heels of
Kurt Signetti winning coach of the Year, and the announcers
on the game they couldn't stop bubbling about Kurt Signetti. Well,
he won the coach of the Year in every possible poll,
AP College Coaches, you know, whatever it was. And he
on the sideline, he just looked like he was fuming. Signetti.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
He really was.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
And I didn't know the situation. It was like a
fourth down by midfield and like fourth and eight and
he decided to punt at the end of the game.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
I never got that deal.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
But well, I don't know if any but even asked
him that question after the game, like why did you punt?
Why didn't you go for it? What was the deal
on that?
Speaker 3 (19:00):
Yeah? I don't know. I mean I think sometimes when
you're a coach on the sideline, you know when the
team is better. And Kurt Signetti, this is personality. He
did a lot of talking, a lot of talking leading
up into that game about how his team and program
they beat people, they beat the snot out of people,
all this other stuff, and sometimes you walk into the
matchup and you start playing and you have this epiphany,
(19:23):
like whoa we're really over mats. And to me, I
felt like some of that was a concession. He was conceding.
He knew that his team couldn't win, even though they
scored and put those like touchdowns up at the end.
He knew. And at that moment, when it's fourth and
eight and your offense hasn't really pete to drop the
entire day, He's just like, man, what punt? Because the
(19:46):
odds of us getting this first down are not good.
Let's just punt it. See if we can play defense.
Something that happened positive for it. That's why he left
in the punt at that moment.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
Yeah, and the score wasn't indicative of really what the
game was all about. It was at twenty seventh to
three for most of the game, and it ended up
twenty seven to seventeen, so that that was not the case.
Speaker 3 (20:00):
Right.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
They were just certainly outclassed. It was an amazing display.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
And really and truly you talk about crowds, I mean
sometimes you turn on an NFL game and like you
rather have to turn the sound up on the TV.
Is anybody there really some of those games like and
I'm not going to point to your team, Jacksonville but
you know some of the games that they're losing teams
in Carolina, whatever it may be. But this note to day,
this sound was deafening, and most of them de Penn State,
just deafening when you turn the TV on and just listen.
(20:29):
I mean, the pomp and circumstance around college football, there's
nothing better.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
I mean, you gotta love it, you really do. I
just think it's great.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
And from there we go back to the NFL on
Thursday night when you had the Charges and playing against
the Broncos and they were trilling what twenty one to
thirteen at halftime and the Broncos and all of a sudden,
the Charges came back.
Speaker 1 (20:49):
That to me was something else.
Speaker 2 (20:50):
And I'll tell you, if you're a Cincinnati Bengal fan,
you're kind of happy give them a little bit of life.
Bengals had that what five percent chance of making the postseason?
Now because of that game, see what happens.
Speaker 3 (21:02):
Yeah, Now, this what we saw a little bit on
Saturday is what do they call it separation Saturday? Yeah,
you kind of separate the pretenders from the contenders. That
happened not only in college, but it happened in the pros.
You saw the real Baltimore Ravens show up. They created
some separation from the opponents. To can see the Chiefs
(21:23):
are like angling towards being the number one seed, and
what we saw from the Charges and the Broncos. The
Broncos have been a nice story to the point where
I've talked about them like, man, they're kind of up there.
They're top ten team. But then what you saw is like, hey,
the Chargers have an opportunity to be one of those
teams that we talked about being a thorn in the
side of a playoff opponent. Their talent, their toughness, the
(21:46):
coaching and just what they get from their coach Jim
Harbaugh could make them a very, very tough out. So yeah,
the Chargers certainly helped themselves and they kind of gave
us like the appetizer for Separation Saturday, which allowed us
to really separate the pretenders from the contenders.

on Fox Sports Radio and of course the iHeartRadio app. Now,
let's back up here a little buck if I can,
We're gonna have ask Bucky in about fifteen minutes. Though,
(23:26):
Let's back up a little bit about this this Charge
of Bronco game. Obviously, Justin Herbert passed for two touchdowns Thursday,
Charges scored on a free kick and rally pissed the
Broncos thirty four to twenty seven.
Speaker 1 (23:37):
Let's get back to this free kick for a second. Now.
As far as the.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
Chargers are concerned, nine and six, they have a ninety
seven percent probability of making the playoffs with the win,
according to the NFL. Now that they could wrap up
their second postseason birth in three years today with losses
by Indianapolis and Miami. As far as Denver's concerned, they're
nine and six, they could have clinched the playoff spot,
but they had therefore game winning streak snapped.
Speaker 1 (24:01):
The Broncos still at an eighty five percent chance of
making it.
Speaker 2 (24:04):
They got a tough remaining game against the Cincinnati Bengals
next Saturday for thirty in Cincinnati Eastern Time, and then
they play Kansas City. But I want to go back
to this free kick. Have you ever been involved in
a free kick? I've seen a free kick in the game.
I have never seen that before.
Speaker 3 (24:20):
I've never seen it, but I do well, I've never
been a part of it. I think the Patriots tried
Wonner did something with Doug Flutie where they kind of
and he did a drop kick as opposed to a
field goal or something. But they manipulated rules where they
used the rules in their favor. But yeah, no, I
mean it's the great, great way to be on it.
(24:43):
We talked about situational wearing this game management. Great job
by Jim Harbour and the staff to take advantage of it.
It's a very unique and interesting play, but they were
able to catch in and it proved to be a
very critical part of why they were able to win.
Speaker 1 (24:57):
Right.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
It's a crazy rule that I had to go back
on reading it because I didn't know what it was
all about. It allows a team that has just made
a freak fair catch.
Speaker 1 (25:03):
To try a freak kick for three points.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
Now a kick is attempted from the line of scrimmage
and the defending team must stand ten yards away like
they can't even defend it. They really can't, and the
charges are able to do it because the Denver, the
Denver player, I've got who it was, he committed a
fair catch interference. It would have been the final play
of the game, and the final play the first half
obviously when the charges Darius Davis, I think it was
(25:29):
attended to field Roley Dickinson's punt at the charge is
thirty eight and you can't end it on a neger.
Speaker 1 (25:33):
You can't end the thing on a defensive play the
defensive penalty. So that's what it was. So it took
the free kick. But I'm surprised Jim Harbond knew that rule.
Do they have it in college.
Speaker 3 (25:45):
That I don't know, but it'd be interesting if they
did have that.
Speaker 1 (25:48):
So it's how Harbon is that rule?
Speaker 3 (25:52):
I mean, I look, I think part of being a
great coach is to make sure that you know the
rules and that you have other people that know all
the rules, and you find the advantages when you come
Jim Harbar Lightveiel Belichick in the past, like they live
in the Gray Area, and living in the Gray Area
has made them very controversial, but it's also helped him
(26:12):
win a ton of games. And if you're able to
kind of put it together and do those things at
the right time, man, what a huge advantage for you
and your team.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
Right And maybe one of his assistant coaches told them
about it too. You don't know.
Speaker 2 (26:26):
I mean, I don't know how it happened, but it
was ingenious. I thought it really was, And I said,
what the heck's going on?
Speaker 1 (26:30):
What is this?
Speaker 3 (26:31):
Now?
Speaker 2 (26:31):
We go to yesterday and the Texas are playing the
Chiefs and I see the Tank Dell injury, and I
think that kind of wakes everybody up because you realize
that your next play could be your very last.
Speaker 1 (26:42):
I mean, that's how rough this game of football is.
You know what you played the game.
Speaker 2 (26:47):
I mean, it is one of those games that you
just I'm not saying you take your life in your hands.
But I have no problem whatsoever when people yell and screen.
But how much guy, how much these guys make money wise,
they're taking a risk. I mean, there are risks jobs
in this country. Okay, one of them, I think there's
an airplane pilot. Really, you can go down anytime. Another
one being a minor in the state of West Virginia,
the Manica collapse. Another one's playing professional football. Really there's
(27:10):
a risk factor and that's why you're getting that money
plus the skill set you have.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
True, but yeah, it is why you get the money
and it is why you play. Look, I just think
part of it is understanding the risk and really being
okay with the reward or getting to the reward because
you know how to deal with the risk part of it.
I just think it's great when you watch these teams
(27:38):
and you watch these guys that are able to do
it time and time again, but as coaches and players
do it because there's a level of risk that you
must take if you want to be great, and you
have to be able to live with it if it
doesn't go your way.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
Okay, let's get to this game. Kansas City wins twenty
seven to nineteen.
Speaker 2 (27:52):
And I heard a sportscaster early on I gonna mention it,
I don't know, embarrassed a person, but he said it's
not luck.
Speaker 1 (28:00):
I disagree.
Speaker 2 (28:01):
I think that the amount of one score games that
they've won, with like ten games they won by a
score by one score. I mean, that's got to be
luck on your side. I'm watching the game yesterday. The
Texans could have tied it and they missed an extra point.
I mean, that has nothing to do with your defense
being tough. The guy missed an extra point and it
could have changed the whole function of that game yesterday, right,
(28:24):
But they went twenty seven to nineteen. And Patrick Mahomes,
who basically was knocked out of last week's game against
the Browns with that high ankle sprain, you never would
have noticed it.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
I mean you really.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
He scored the first touchdown, went on a fifteen yard run,
and then he scrambled twelve yards earlier in that same drive.
He was what twenty one or twenty eight for forty
one throws for two sixty in a touchdown. Where's the
high ankle sprain? I don't get it. But they must
have one head of a training staff there Kansas City.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
Yeah, they must do. I think you get to give
the trainee stuff a lot of credit for getting them ready.
It's funny because you just didn't think that they would
be able to look half Pat Mahomes and half Pat
Mahomes ready to rock. But Pat Mahomes looked better than
he ever did. I mean he continues to I would say,
defy the odds when it comes to dealing with these
(29:13):
injuries and those things. The fact that he showed up,
he was able to be athletic and didn't look like
he suffering any ill effects to me is Look, it's amazing,
and it's one of the reasons why this team continues
to be the best team in ball. We can talk
a lot about like, oh, this team is better and
that team is better. I tell someone the vanquishes to
(29:36):
kan see the Chiefs. We should always consider him the
best team in ball because no one can beat this
team in a close game.
Speaker 2 (29:43):
Buck, I asked you, though, isn't there some measure of
luck involve what they've done this year?
Speaker 1 (29:49):
Really?
Speaker 3 (29:53):
I think you make your own look like man, I
think it doesn't really luck, because luck is just like, oh,
it's all by chance. They don't have anything to do
with I believe this team has mastered the art of
winning games, and they do it because they make plays
that need to be made. And it's not just one player.
This team just kind of has a way about them.
(30:16):
They remind me very very much like the Patriots operated
for twenty years, where if you didn't put the Patriots
out of their misery early and really blow them out,
you didn't really have a chance to win it. Because
it was a close game, someone was going to make
the play. And that confidence continues to feed on itself
as you continue to win these games like this sixteen
(30:37):
straight one score wins for the Kansas City Chiefs Andy.
Every time they're in a close game, they're able to wreathe,
slow their heart rate down because may we've been here before.
We just need to do what we need to do
to get to win. Other teams tend to panic. And
if you really go back and look, because we talked about,
well if the other team had just done this, the
other team had just done that. What the Kansas City
(30:57):
Chiefs do is they alwaysho up in much the same
other teams go up and down because they can't handle
the pressure having to execute at a high level consistently
over time. That's why the Kansas City Chiefs win. They're
not beating themselves. They just wait for you to employ it.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
Another factor which I put under the umbrella of luck
is the fact that the injury factor is very, very low.
Speaker 1 (31:19):
I mean other teams get I mean, look at the
Detroit Lions. I mean there's like a sick bay.
Speaker 2 (31:24):
And the Kansas City Chiefs really and truly are lucky
in the sense that they don't really suffer many many
injuries on that ball club.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
They just don't.
Speaker 3 (31:33):
Yeah, I mean they don't. All right, crazy, we move on.
Speaker 2 (31:37):
Well, I'm happy for him. I mean, I love Andy Reid.
I think he's great. All right, bundle Uski, I mean
I can't get that out of my head, that commercial
that he does right with Patrick Mahomes, with that insurance,
they won't mention the name Bundaluski.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
There we go.
Speaker 1 (31:49):
We move on.
Speaker 2 (31:50):
Steelers Ravens yesterday, and the last time they met, the
Steelers win that game eighteen sixteen earlier this year, and
they did it with us scoring a touchdown, But the
Ravens get a playoff berth. Yesterday they accomplished more than that,
the thirty four to seventeen winner of this Steelers that
snapped the Ravens four game losing streak over the Steelers.
Speaker 1 (32:07):
There were like one in eight overall, and I'm glad.
Speaker 2 (32:10):
For Lamar Jackson, who records his first win over the
Steelers is twenty nineteen, one hundred and sixty two rushing
guys with Dereck Henry. He looked like a beast yesterday.
It was great and I love the fact that Baltimore won.
I just felt with both of those teams have being
the playoffs, but the point is, I want to see
Baltimore break that hes.
Speaker 3 (32:28):
Yeah, hats off to Lamar Jackson. I know everyone has
already given away his MVP award to Josh Allen, but
might want to pause on it. When you look at
the numbers and of what Lamar Jackson is doing this year,
it surpasses what he did last year. He's playing the
best ball that we've ever seen him play in his career.
And the thing about it is he still utilizes his legs.
(32:49):
He still runs around and makes place in the fashion
in which he used to make it, but now he
has become so much of an improved passer and against
the Steelers he was able to show that off. This
team is interesting because I've been hard on this team
the entire year. This team had underachieved the entire year,
but now they're beginning to play like the Baltimore team
(33:09):
that we know and many of the people that listen
to us love their physical team. They're getting it done.
They're on the ground through there, and then defensively, they've
really made improvements since Week five. This team is playing
their basketball heading into the to the stretch. And that's
exactly what you want to do as you're a playoff team.
You want to play your basketball heading into the tournament.
Speaker 2 (33:29):
Well, I mentioned that earlier this season was a Week
five I think they lost eighteen sixteen to the Steelers
that Baltimore Ravens did. And in that game, Justin Tucker,
the premiere field goal kicker coming into the league this season,
he missed two field goals in that I think it
was week eleven, maybe he missed two field He made
both kicks yesterday and one of them was a fifteen
to fifty one year kick that extended the lead to
(33:50):
seventeen to seven. So it looks like Justin Tucker it's
got his groove back.
Speaker 1 (33:53):
You know, they're ready to push him out to the passer.
So that's a big deal for him. So I'm happy.
I'm happy for that. So we love so right now,
I think that Baltimore. Two.
Speaker 2 (34:03):
About the teams that are on top, you mentioned Kansas City,
Obviously they're Buffalo, Baltimore. I you got to throw Pittsburgh
in there in Philadelphia as well. I think those are
the teams that are the cream of the crop right
now in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (34:15):
Yeah, I mean, I think they are the cream and
the crop, and they're going to continue to separate. That's
what this month is for the month is to get
the heavyweights ready to compete in the tournament. And you're
seeing some of those teams playing their best ball, peaking
as they're getting into the tournament. And you know, Baltimore
is one of those teams. You can say, Kansas City
is another one of those teams. We'll see if Philadelphia
(34:36):
can continue to dominate and keep the momentum as they
get into the tournament.
Speaker 2 (34:42):
And maybe we didn't even mention Detroit, but we'll see
what happens there that really they're hurting no players, that's
the problem. But we'll continue, all right, Bucky brooks Andy Firmer,
we are together, and we call it Fox Football Sunday
and Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (34:54):
The man with the answers as.
Speaker 2 (34:56):
Bucky as next, Fox Sports radio. You know, can I
make a request? I love the Christmas music again. I'm
gonna come across like Grinch. Can you play the Adam
Sandler Honikah song?
Speaker 1 (35:10):
Maybe once?
Speaker 3 (35:11):
You know?
Speaker 2 (35:12):
Is that a positive because Honkakah is on the same
day as Christmas this year? You know, I mean, is
it possible I'm making a request. I've never asked for
anything on this ship again. Well yeah, but still only
comes out once a year. I means if you play
it twice, as you know, in twelve months, it's not
bad twice or twelve months. I love you, Okay, I'm
just saying. And I know Bucky would enjoy it because
he likes Adam Sandler.
Speaker 3 (35:31):
He does.
Speaker 2 (35:32):
He's Bucky Brookes and Andy Furman and we are Fox
Football Sonny of Fox vist Radium. We're live from the
tire rack dot Com studio. So we're ready to roll
for ask Bucky.
Speaker 1 (35:40):
Let's do it, all right.
Speaker 2 (35:42):
It's about ten minutes before the top of the hour.
And Sheila Johnson, the co owner of the WNBA's Washington Mystics.
She sparked some criticism the other day. She told CNN
that Time magazine could have put the whole WNBA the
entire league on its cover instead of Indiana Fever star
Caitlyn Clark.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
What's the deal.
Speaker 2 (36:02):
It's an award for one person, not for a team
or league. Come on, does she hate Caitlyn Clark that much?
Speaker 1 (36:10):
You have thoughts on that?
Speaker 3 (36:11):
Buck Well? I mean, look, I think this is an
owner who wants the league to get credit for the
momentum that has been created in women's basketball. But the
league has a part in it. But Kaitlyn Clark has
really been a driving force just because of the interests
like it or not. Whether some would say the adolation
is over the top, she certainly has brought a lot
(36:32):
of new eyeballs to the game and Dad has increased
the attention that has made more people want to tune in,
and she's had a positive impact on the game, which
is why she was deserving of winning the award.
Speaker 2 (36:43):
You know, you would think, of all people, the owner
of the Washington Mystics will know, I mean didn't when
Indiana played Washington year, didn't have like twenty thousand people
at that game. I mean they wouldn't have twenty thousand
in a year, but you know they wanted to see Kaitlyn.
Speaker 1 (36:58):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (36:58):
Yeah, they want to see Kaitlin. Maybe if she felt
like they wanted to see her squad the mystics.
Speaker 1 (37:04):
Who knows. I doubt it, but we'll see. We move on.
Speaker 2 (37:07):
Okay, Bucky Brooks, I'm gonna do this to you, put
a little pressure on you. You now have the deciding
vote for this year's NFL MVP Award.
Speaker 1 (37:16):
And here are your choices. In then Edwin writ and if.
Speaker 2 (37:19):
You want, your choices are Josh Allen, quarterback of the
Buffalo Bills, say Kwan Barkley, running back Philadelphia Eagles, and
quarterback Lamar Jackson in the Baltimore Ravens.
Speaker 1 (37:28):
Your choice and tell us why or right in ballin
if you like.
Speaker 3 (37:33):
Ooh, I wonder if I could split it three ways?
Could I split it three ways?
Speaker 1 (37:36):
You could do whatever you want your Bucky Brooks.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
No, okay, So what we have is a very unique circumstances.
Josh Allen appears to be the guy that is a
front runner. Lamar Jackson is playing great, but there's something
about Saquon Barkley and what he is doing and how
he has changed the way that we look at the
Philadelphia Eagles. He's on pays to have a two thousand
yard season, which is a rarity in the league. You
think about the dominance that he's displaying, and he's been
(38:01):
vultured for touchdowns by his teammate, Jalen Hurts to me,
Saquon Barkley is having the best season out of all
the guys that were mentioning. Uh, but each of those
are very, very viable and worthy candidates.
Speaker 1 (38:13):
Okay, but you didn't give me an answer.
Speaker 2 (38:15):
But that's okay, ok I'm with you, Okay, okay, just
putting a little pressure on you there, Okay, NFL the
super Bowl Hunt, the Super Bowl Hunt? Which team is
in bigger trouble going to get that Super Bowl trophy?
The Ravens, Kansas City or Baltimore. Who's in bigger trouble?
Speaker 1 (38:35):
Who'll have the hardest time to get there?
Speaker 3 (38:37):
In Baltimore? Same team? Hold on, Ravens are boring, I'm sorry,
kas City? Who else? And Pittsburgh, Oh, Pittsburgh and jeopardy
because Pittsburgh doesn't have the talent that those others have.
And I love Pittsburgh. I love what they've been doing.
But the talent difference shows up, and it showed up
in their game on Saturday. So, yeah, the Steelers are
(38:59):
in trouble. The Ravens in Kansas City are a better
positioned to make the Super Bowl run that everyone wants.
Speaker 1 (39:06):
Let me throw the Lions in there. Are they in
trouble to.
Speaker 3 (39:10):
Yeah, they in trouble just because the injuries, the mounting
injuries could catch up with them. I'm more worried about
them because of that part of it.
Speaker 2 (39:18):
Okay, who's gonna have more success as a college football coach?
Michael Vick and Norfolk State or Bill Belichick in North Carolina.
Speaker 3 (39:26):
Oh, Bill Belichick in North Carolina. Bill Belichick's don't get
North Caelta, Hummy. I don't know how long he would
have it huming for, but he definitely is going to
get He's the same blueprint that has been very successful
for Nick Saban. Yeah so Nick, so Bill Belichick is
the one.
Speaker 1 (39:40):
Spoken like a true tar heel alone.
Speaker 2 (39:43):
Okay, in a round, Now, these teams in and out
of the playoffs, Bengals, Dolphins, Colts, Broncos in a rout,
Bengals in out out.
Speaker 3 (39:53):
Okay, Dolphins, Dolphins out, all of them out. Yeah, I
don't see a path for any of them to get it.
But if I had to hang my head once. He
made the Dolphins. But I don't have a lot of
confidence in them.
Speaker 1 (40:04):
All right, Bucky Brooks says, this is his team. That
and more.
Speaker 2 (40:07):
We're Fox Football Sunday next. You know, they just have
too much firepower, they really do. That's coming right up.
Good morning America. Yes, this is Fox Football Sunday and
Fox Sports Reader. He is the Maven Bucky Brooks. I'm
Andy Furman, and we are broadcasting live from the tire
rack dot Com studios. Tier rack dot Com will help
you get there and unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free
(40:28):
road has a protection and don't forget over ten thousand
recommended installers.
Speaker 1 (40:32):
Tire rack dot Com.
Speaker 2 (40:33):
The way tire buying should be and the way football
should be coached, played, talked about written the one and
only Bucky Brooks.
Speaker 1 (40:41):
I call him the football genius. Buck. How you doing?
How's life? Everything good?
Speaker 3 (40:46):
Everything is great? And and no complaints over here.
Speaker 2 (40:48):
You never complain. You even keel not like me. I
complain about everything. I drive my car, I go over
a pothole.
Speaker 1 (40:54):
I complain. It's unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (40:56):
I can't.
Speaker 1 (40:57):
I can't.
Speaker 2 (40:57):
I need professional psychological help to unleash the negativity in
my system, the hormones. I don't know what it is,
but it's right there. I don't know if I inherited that,
but whatever, It's just one of those things. That's the
way I am. But you are a football genius, and
I love reading NFL dot Com every single week, and
you wrote about it this week and this week I
want to really delve into it because I got a
(41:20):
couple of questions.
Speaker 1 (41:20):
Got to ask you, I really do I read it.
I said, I can't wait till Sunday.
Speaker 2 (41:24):
I'm gonna ask Buck about this because you talked about
that Kirk Cousins experiment with the Atlanta Falcons.
Speaker 1 (41:30):
Obviously it's not working. We both know that. And we
talked about Michael Pennix Jr. Coming in. You know, you
had your doubts early on, saying.
Speaker 2 (41:38):
Well, you know you don't want to throw into the wolves,
and you know you invest a lot of money on
Kirk Cousins.
Speaker 1 (41:42):
Ain't working.
Speaker 2 (41:43):
Okay, they gave him one hundred eighty million and one
hundred million dollars in guarantees last March. Now that stories
are coming out that they may even cut him so
they don't have to give him that extra extra guilt.
They're not going to do that. So look, you also
wrote that you think Atlanta has kind of been the
team for Penix for the Get Go six two to
twenty stepped into the practice field during organized team activities.
(42:06):
Why do you say that, Michael Pennix Jr. This is
his team for the get Go, is a perfect fit.
Speaker 3 (42:14):
It's been a scene from the get go because while
Kirk Cousins was rehabbing, Michael Penicks had an opportunity to
run with the starters. And when he was able to
run with the starters, he was able to show his
teammates his coaches that he has the talent and the
tools to be able to run, to own the job
and thrive in the job. And what happens, particularly for
Kirk Cousins when he's unavailable not there early in the year,
(42:37):
Michael Penix not only develops the confidence to rock with
the team, but he develops the chemistry and the connection
with the teammates. He's younger, he's dynamic, he kind of
gets along with those guys, and then when you see
the arm talent, it's easy to see why those guys
will fall in love with him. Even though Kirk Cousins
comes back and he has Pelts on the wall. He's
(42:57):
a respective veteran who's done some great things. The league
is different, and it's really different once you start losing
games and you have a bunch of guys who were
on the field with Pennicks, who's seen him work throughout
the preseason, rave about his arm, talent and all these
other things. At some point that works against you, and
for Kirk Cousins, what worked against him was not being
(43:19):
consistent and not being able to play at a high level,
particularly the last five weeks. It created some of that
conversation like, man, I wonder how good we would be
if Michael Pennix was leading our team, that talented young
guy was there and Raheem Morris was Look, his hand
was forced. Kirk Cousins one touchdown, nine interceptions the last
five games, barely had over one hundred yards the last game,
(43:41):
and they couldn't throw on first down the first half
of the game against the Raiders. He had to pull
the plug on the experiment. He had to go to
the young guy.
Speaker 2 (43:49):
Okay, I want to go back to Week five because
I don't understand how a guy could just decrease in
stature the way Kirk Cousins did Week five, five hundred
and nine yards Towns against the Buccaneers. And after that
and he was throwing like almost seventy three percent of
his throws thirteen to three touchdown to the hit deception ratio.
Then all of a sudden he comes back as you say,
(44:09):
the last several weeks, what sixteen at deceptions thirteen fumbles.
Speaker 1 (44:14):
It's unbelievable. And you say, Raheem Marris.
Speaker 2 (44:17):
The coach is forced to make that change because you say,
the risk of losing the locker room.
Speaker 1 (44:23):
This is where I want to ask you.
Speaker 2 (44:25):
You're telling me that the decision was made because players
came to the coach and say, hey, coach, you got
to get rid of him.
Speaker 1 (44:33):
He's killing us. Does that happen in the NFL?
Speaker 2 (44:35):
Do players tell the coach, look, we could win without
this guy, or was it a coach's decision?
Speaker 1 (44:42):
Do the players have that kind of input?
Speaker 3 (44:45):
I mean they always get the input. And if you're
a good coach, you always solicted to input from your
leadership council, the best players on the team. When I
mean lose the locker room, you only have so many
opportunities to play games in the National Football League, and
what happened is every game has to carry significant weight
when you're losing games, and people are able to know
(45:06):
that on the sideline there's someone who they believe to
be better than the person that's playing. If you don't
do that, then you lose your credibility as a coach.
And you can hang in there with Kirk because they
can appreciate the loyalty, they can appreciate standing behind your guy,
but at some point they want to win games over everything,
and if they feel like you're compromising the team's opportunity
(45:28):
to win, yeah, they're not gonna believe you. They're not
gonna follow behind you. And Raheem Morris taken about as
far as he could take it. But when Kirk Cousins
only has one hundred yards and they're so limited offensively
because they're working around a quarterback, they're struggling, he had
no choice. He had to give the ball to the
Ricky and live with it, even if it's not ideal
to put the Ricky in with three games left.
Speaker 2 (45:49):
You know, I'm so functioned looking at the Cincinnati Bengals
with that six and eight losing record with a guy
that's leading the league. He may get the triple crown
with the receptions, touchdowns and yards and Jamar Chase leading passer,
and Joe Burrow and T Higgins when he's not injured.
They got three offensive, big time threats. And I say
to myself, wait a minute, look at Atlanta. They should
(46:10):
have a better record as well. Look what they got.
They got Drake London, they got Kyle Pitts, they got
Darnell Mooney. They got three quality receivers and a running
game which the Bengals don't really have.
Speaker 1 (46:19):
They got Bjon Robinson.
Speaker 2 (46:20):
I mean, really and truly, you got to believe without
those turnovers, those self inflicted wounds caused by Kirk Cousins,
they'd be in better shape.
Speaker 3 (46:29):
I mean, Lee's the NFL with sixteen interceptions, tie for
the most fumbles in the league with twelve with Baker Mayfield.
Before you can even win games, you have to avoid
losing them, and turnovers are the number one thing. He's
costing them games with his Look at his mistakes, his
misfires or all of those things. He's not playing good football,
(46:51):
and they have to sit them down they have any
chance of savaging the.
Speaker 1 (46:54):
Season, it'll be interesting.
Speaker 2 (46:56):
Now all eys will be on Atlanta to see what's
going on over there. See And I wish, you know,
after watching Kirk Cousins a year ago on HBO Hard Knocks,
I got to like the guy. He's kind of like
a regular guy, you know, and a family guy, and
just you wish him well. But you know what, He's okay,
he'll be fine. He's not gonna be looking for his
(47:16):
next meal. He's all set.
Speaker 1 (47:17):
He's fine. Don't worry about Curtin.
Speaker 3 (47:19):
Know he said you can be sympathetic towards themand but
also called out the performance to performance is not being
good enough. He's not played to the standard of expectation.
That's part of the deal.
Speaker 2 (47:29):
Okay, speaking of that, let's go back to the Detroit Lions.
The Lions are playing the Bears today. Shouldn't be a problem,
all right, Lions coach, this is how how bad Maybe
I'm maybe I'm just looking at the things too much,
but this is how bad the defense is right now
because they lack of defense with players that have lost.
The Lions coach Dan Campbell. He went for it on
fourth and one in a tie game a week ago
(47:51):
against Green Bay. Why I guess he's so concerned about
his depleted defense he wanted to stick with the offense
on the field.
Speaker 1 (47:57):
Am I crazy for that?
Speaker 3 (47:59):
Is what you know? No, you're not crazy for thinking that.
There's some truth to that. You know, Sometimes you want
to do that to make sure that you give your
team the best chance of being able to win. You
use your offense to play defense as part of a
plan to be complimentary in all fadses offense, defense, kicking
and working together. And if they did decide to make
(48:20):
that move because of that, it's a sound strategy. It's
a proven strategy if you can control it where your
offense is better than your defense, than what you do
is you speed it up, slow it down to make
sure that the team that is uh the strength of
your team ultimately has the biggest impact on the game.
Speaker 2 (48:36):
All right, I would think that in this game, unless
there's something, some act of God happens, the Lions will
not lose this game.
Speaker 1 (48:45):
There's no way. I just I can't, even though I
know the games in Chicago nationally is just man.
Speaker 3 (48:51):
The National Football League, any given Sunday and any given Sunday.
Speaker 1 (48:57):
You do like the Lions for this game, though, I mean,
of course I like the Lions.
Speaker 3 (49:00):
I can't. I saw Kayla Williams laying on the sideline
or whatever he was doing, groveling on the side of
his body language is absolutely worse, but yeah, I saw it.
So because of that, I have to go with the lines.
I don't know if he's gonna be able to endure
any bad moments.
Speaker 2 (49:15):
Right, we move along now the Jets, I mean, they're
pitiful as well. They should have a game like a
bowl game or in the National Football of the two
worst teams really and.
Speaker 1 (49:25):
Have called the Toilet Bowl.
Speaker 2 (49:27):
The Toilet Bowl will be the worst two teams in
the NFL, and maybe really and maybe that team that
wins that game has the option of getting the first
draft pick instead of like people like, you know, throwing
the games and dumping them to get the draft pick.
Have the two worst teams play and the sponsored by
Santa Flush or something like that, a bolt cleaner or whatever,
(49:47):
and called the toilet Bowl.
Speaker 1 (49:49):
And the Jets should be in that game, and maybe
Carolina should be in that game.
Speaker 2 (49:52):
And let them play. I mean, people will go people
love football. Just another game after the Super Bowl. Do
it the week after the Super Bowl. Have the toilet Bowl.
Speaker 1 (50:00):
That's what they should do.
Speaker 3 (50:02):
Have the toilet Bowl and betty it. Why don't you
make it like soccer where you have a little relegation
where if you lose the toilet Bowl, you now have
to play, you know, in the Canadian Football playing, or
you had to play in the UFL or whatever league
exists in the spring. No, but like on the real
like they have to do something. You want those teams
to be competitive, but it's bad, man. The divide between
(50:23):
the halves and the have nots has never been bigger
in an abtional football league.
Speaker 2 (50:27):
But the funny thing is, like the way the Rams
started this season, they were one and one in four
and I thought it was all over.
Speaker 1 (50:34):
You know, right now they've they've won three in a row.
They're eight and six.
Speaker 2 (50:36):
I mean they're coming alive. And I know they had
some injuries, you no doubt, but I think the Rams
team right now is certainly more complete. They got a defense.
The defense could shut the Jets down with their pass rush.
I think the Rams win this game. I think the
Rams win again. They go fourth straight and the Rams,
now who have won the last three, their rest after
a Thursday night game against the forty nine ers and
if they went out their division champs, believe it or not,
(50:58):
and look like they got to win out against the Jets.
Still win today, Arizona possibility in Seattle, which you know
Smith injured somethings to some extent. I think the Rems
have a chance to be division champs.
Speaker 3 (51:10):
Yeah, No, they're a really good team. Sean mc day's
done a really good job. It's probably one of his
better coaching jobs, holding it together while waiting for his
guys to come back. Now that everyone is back, Matthew
Stafford is able to throw the Cooper Cup and Poka nakula.
The running game is solid with Karen Williams play corn.
They're upfront getting after that Delana scrimmags. Offensely, they're perfect
(51:31):
man and he is controlling the offense to control the game.
He's using the offense slow it up, speed it I
mean slow it down, dictate the terms sometimes speed it up.
And he is making the defense work. And what he's
doing he's limiting the possessions for the opponent. He's making
sure his defense is fresh when they go into field,
(51:51):
and because of that, they're playing much better in all aspects.
Speaker 1 (51:54):
I'll tell you we take the Rams in this one,
no doubt about that.
Speaker 2 (51:56):
Eagles twelve and two at the Washington Command there's and
they've each met on week number ten. Eagles won that
game twenty six eighteen. You know, And there was a
bit of a concern, I guess because last week when
the Steelers played the Eagles, the Steelers were able to
load up the box and stop say Kwon Barkley only
had like something like sixty three rushing yards. And it
(52:17):
doesn't make a difference with the Eagles. I think they're
so loaded offensively because Jalen Hurts in that game through
for two ninety with AJ Brown Davonte Smith each had
more than one hundred yards receiving. So, okay, you want
to stop Barkley, that's okay. We got other weapons on
this team. This team is so complete. I mentioned coming
into the segment, too much firepower. That's the Philadelphia Eagles
did a number one ranked defense and they got great
firepower on offense.
Speaker 3 (52:39):
Yeah, I mean, I'm with you on it. They are
terrific when it comes to how they can get down
and how they can dominate. Since they've kind of gone
back to some of their old school tackles where they're
using the quarterback run game to compliment what they do
with Sakuon Barkley. They've been unstoppable. AJ Brown and Devonte
Smith don't get considering them consistent number of touches. But
(53:01):
after they come to Squeaked a little bit, the Greece
is kind of heading their way, so they get more
opportunities and touches, and we saw both of them go
over one hundred yards against the Pittsburgh still is. It's
just a tough team to play because defensive Vic Fangio
got them going their little salty, little ornery, but their
sound and all of their execution and how they do things.
It's a tough team, much better team than we've seen
(53:23):
in the past. Kind of like this team. This team
is sworn up the charts.
Speaker 2 (53:26):
So why are all the criticism with Nick Sirianni and
why there's always something going on with that ball club
like a Peyton place in the soap opera. I mean,
they're twelve and two and Nick Siriani, they think the
guys on the hot seat. What's the deal with Nick Siriani?
Speaker 3 (53:42):
You got what I'm saying, Man, that's a part of
that town. You know, just like you had to sit
and hear all of the Ohio State fans go crazy
because the Buckey has lost to Michigan. It's the same thing,
like they always want more. It's a rabbit fan base.
And Philadelphia the Eagles are really reflective of their community.
(54:02):
So they are a little ornery and testy and emotional
and up and down and all of that. You just
have to wear the storm. And to me, I think
Nick Syriana has done a great job weather in the storm.
Speaker 2 (54:11):
All Right, we talked about Michael Pennix. He's gonna have
a good break today because they're at home. The Falcons
are and they're hosting the Giants. Now, the Giants are
two and twelve and both of those wins are on
their road, but they're not going to get their third
win today against Atlanta. As a matter of fact, I
have no idea. It's like a revolving door with the
quarterback situation with the Giants. Now they're saying Tim Boyles
that quarterback, who's the quarterback? Tommy Devido? Drew Locke is
(54:34):
out with that heel injury. The Vito's got a concussion,
which a concussion protocol. So now Tim Boyle is a quarterback?
Is that with the Giants?
Speaker 1 (54:42):
What's going on?
Speaker 2 (54:43):
They're in bed shape? I mean this team, they're in
worse shape than the Jets. You know, they may be
in worse shape than Carolina. Really, at least Carolina's got
a groomy. They're grooming a quarterback. The Giants don't even
have a quarterback to groom.
Speaker 3 (54:57):
No, they'dn't bad shake. They didn't bad shake.
Speaker 2 (54:59):
Man.
Speaker 3 (54:59):
Are Tim boy has to start? I think anyone should.
To understand, you have to go back and look at
his collegiate career and just the lack of the fact
that he's still in the league is remarkable.
Speaker 1 (55:09):
Testing When did he play college ball. I don't don't
remember he started it.
Speaker 3 (55:12):
He started at Yukon and then I mean I think
he may have had one touchdown, thirteen interceptions or something
like that at Yukon. Then he bounced around to a
lower level program before making his way into the league.
And he's never excelled at any level. But he is
intriguing and captivating because he has prototypical dimensions size, arm, talent,
(55:32):
and those things. But he's never put it together where
he can successfully play quarterback if he has to start
man who tough slit to slip.
Speaker 2 (55:43):
Well, it's funny you mentioned, like, I say, where did
he play? Said Yukon then went to another lower level.
I mean, Yukon's pretty low for football. I mean, doesn't
get much lower than Yukon. Really, I mean, I'll take
a division to school Yukon.
Speaker 3 (55:55):
Now. Jim Moore Junior has them up and going. They're
eight and four, they've been winning. They've had back seasons
in two of the last three years. Don't don't pour
dirt on you God to make your point. They're pretty
they're all right, all right.
Speaker 2 (56:10):
Speaking of teams that are in bad shape, the Carolina Panthers,
and they were at home as well to you three
and eleven. They're hosting the Cardinals. Will tell you what
comes down to the Cardinals right now, and we'll see
how badly they want it.
Speaker 1 (56:20):
Will win. They're in and if they lose, forget about it.
The season is over. That's it for the Cardinals. That's
the way it's got to be.
Speaker 2 (56:27):
And the Cardinals I think will win because I think
the game means more, not because the Carolina Panthers aren't
that good, but I just think that you know, win
and they know what. They know what they're playing for, right.
Speaker 3 (56:38):
Yeah, you motivated and where their motivation should come a
greater level of effort, but also comes some stress and
some pressure, and if you don't handle it the right way,
you play into the hands of the other team. The
other team doesn't have anything to play for. Carolina is
just trying to play out the string. They want to
finish it off like pros and see if they can
get some small wins, so micro wins heading to the
(56:59):
off seat. That can be challenging because, man, you have
no idea what they're going to do. They could throw
all the traditional norms out the window and do something
completely different, and so you just ridden with anxiety trying
to figure out how to deal with this stuff when
you are a team like that that is playing for something,
but the old team has nothing at all to play for.
Speaker 2 (57:20):
Now you're a man who played the game and you
know the answer to this question. I'm going to say
this from a fan looking in from a distance. Okay,
last week Carolina lost to the Dallas Cowboys thirty to fourteen,
and they gave up two hundred and eleven rushing yards,
and everybody's going to probably point fingers to the defensive coach.
Speaker 1 (57:39):
I think defense is a will and maybe I'm wrong.
Speaker 2 (57:43):
I mean, obviously you have to have some talent, but
if you're wearing an NFL uniform, you got talent and
you have the will to want to stop a runner.
Speaker 1 (57:51):
Yeah, that there's game planning.
Speaker 2 (57:52):
I get that, But if I'm playing against Baltimore, I
know that Derek Henry's going to get the ball rushing.
So you have to have the will to want to
stop these guys. And obviously, I think, guys, I'm not
Carolina team and I didn't watch the game. They gave up.
They quit and I hate to use that word, they quit.
You cannot give up two hundred and eleven rushing yards
(58:12):
to a team. There's just no way. And you have
to want to stop them. And these guys couldn't. They
didn't want to stop them. Am I right there? It's
a mental thing more than physical.
Speaker 3 (58:23):
I think it's a little bit of everything. Anytime you
have that kind of those kinds of issues, a lot
of times you have long assignments, misalignment, you don't get
lined up properly, and so you have a tough time
being able to do it. Man, when you lose like that. Yes,
there's plinny blame. You can talk about people quitting or
(58:44):
giving up in those things, but a lot of times
it's just shoddy execution, you know.
Speaker 1 (58:49):
And I hate to use the word quit. And again,
I think the people people like myself who.
Speaker 2 (58:54):
Have rabid fans and I'm a fan, that's what I am,
really talk about the game, and I love talking about
the game. I don't think we realize how good these
guys are, you know. And again, like I'll go back
to the Tank Dell yesterday when he got hurt with Detexans.
You take a step back and you see CJ. Strouth
crying on TV when the guy got hurt. It's just,
you know, it's their life, it's their livelihood, it's their loves,
(59:18):
their passion, and it's taken away in a matter of seconds.
Speaker 1 (59:23):
And you hate to see that happen.
Speaker 3 (59:24):
You just do, You really do. Yeah, you absolutely hate
seeing that happen. And man, it's one of those things
that just makes it so so tough. And you just
think about every time you step on the field, the risk,
the rewards and all of that. But then when you
do see your comrade down, you do see them deal
(59:44):
with a serious injury. It does take some of that
invincibility that you cloak yourself around. It takes some of
that away. And you just saw some very vulnerable moments,
and you know it's just one of those tough situations
that you eventually have to overcome. No doubt about that.
Speaker 1 (01:00:01):
Really.
Speaker 2 (01:00:01):
All right, he's Bucky Brooks. Get him on X at
Bucky Brooks at Swollen Dome.
Speaker 1 (01:00:05):
Who's that?
Speaker 2 (01:00:06):
That's Mike Harmony joins us in the next hour at
Andy Furman FSR. I bet he at eight seven seven
ninety nine on Fox. We'd love to hear from you.
Eight seven seven nine ninety six sixty three sixty nine.
We've got bottom barrel betting in this hour, and of
course the Swollen Dome himself. Mike Harmon will be joining
us an hour at number three. That's eight am on
the East Coast. Now, did you see what one quarterback
(01:00:27):
got his offensive line?
Speaker 1 (01:00:28):
Wow, we'll tell you all about it.
Speaker 3 (01:00:30):
Next.
Speaker 1 (01:00:30):
There we go. I love it. There we go Wednesday,
Christmas and hawking together. There we go.
Speaker 2 (01:00:36):
Well, well this quarterback play next season, Well, that's right
around the corner.
Speaker 1 (01:00:39):
He's Bucky Brooks.
Speaker 2 (01:00:40):
I'm Andy Furman and we have Fox Football Sunday on

rack dot com studios. By the way, right after the show,

just search Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your podcast
(01:01:02):
and you'll see this show Fox Football Sunday right after
we get off the air. Now, it is Christmas season,
the annual season of gift giving and gift giving obviously
from NFL quarterbacks to their locker room and to their
offensive lineman. And Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow have you
heard this one buck? He gifted his offensive line authentic
(01:01:23):
Japanese katana swords for Christmas.
Speaker 1 (01:01:26):
Amazing.
Speaker 2 (01:01:28):
Not only did Burrow give each of his offensive linemen
one of Japan's most famous swords, he also took the
extra step towards making the gift as authentic as possible. Really,
and while katanas are most often associated with the Edo period,
which is sixteen oh three to eighteen sixty eight, the
history of the single edged sword goes as far back
(01:01:48):
as become a core period eleven eighty five to thirteen thirty.
Speaker 1 (01:01:52):
Three, when the term was first used to describe.
Speaker 2 (01:01:55):
A long sword distinct from the taki, which had previously
been in the Japanese sort of choice.
Speaker 1 (01:02:02):
It's unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (01:02:03):
I don't know how we found this, but Orlando Brown,
the Bengals left tackle, said, Joe does a great job
at buying gifts that are extremely meaningful. All I really
wanted to just win a game that'd be more meaningful.
Wouldn't it a sword? Pretty creative? I thought, what have
you been around on teams where quarterbacks just go crazy?
And but I think it was the other day. I
(01:02:24):
think I read a quarterback of the forty nine ers.
Speaker 3 (01:02:27):
Was it?
Speaker 2 (01:02:27):
I don't remember. Oh Brocker, I think did he buy
him trucks? I think he put him on the truck
did so?
Speaker 3 (01:02:34):
He had ten opensive line and he brought five toundreds,
five sequoyas and handed him out. And to see those
guys get excited about the gift of whatever was, he
was amazing.
Speaker 2 (01:02:45):
Man.
Speaker 3 (01:02:46):
I don't know how he pulled it off. I'm sure
some kind of partnership, but the fact that he was
able to do it. Man, hats off to him. You know,
Brock Pardy hasn't gotten paid yet, or maybe he knows
something way that we don't know. Maybe he has a
deal on the horizons, so he felt it extra generous.
But it was a nice gesture by him, for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:03:03):
I mean, Joe Burrow is pretty creative with those swords.
I don't know what the meaning is that, I guess
to fight, I mean, protect me with the swords. I mean,
he really needs it, keep him off the ground. A
lot of grass stains on Joe Burrow's jerseys, that's for sure.
So keep molt, that's for sure.
Speaker 1 (01:03:16):
But we'll see.
Speaker 2 (01:03:17):
But today the Bengals are hosting the Cleveland Browns. And
you know, when you're in a possibility, if you're in,
you lose, you go home and it's all over, and
they start talking about Reds Baseball in Cincinnati, I guess.
But Miles Garrett had some comments the other day, and
I guess he's putting the Cleveland Browns on the clock.
And Miles Garrett right now, he's played for wilde four
defensive coordinators. He's going to regular fifty and sixty four
(01:03:40):
played for the Cleveland Browns. For eight years and he's
a Hall of Famer, right And look, I love what
you have to say the other day. I'm not trying
to rebuild. I'm trying to win right now. And he says,
I want to be loyal to the team that's drafted me.
He's not looking to leave. He wants to stay in Cleveland.
Speaker 1 (01:03:54):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (01:03:55):
And you got to think that the Cleveland Browns would
want to lock up Miles Garrett at least to be
the anchor on the defensive line.
Speaker 1 (01:04:01):
I hope they do.
Speaker 3 (01:04:03):
Yeah, I mean you have to wonder what when he
makes those comments, what is underlying intentions? Is it to
make sure that he gets more money, gets a new deal?
Is it to make sure he's involved in the process
all of that. That's a conversation that Kevislavanski has to
have with Miles Garrett to kind of just check in
and see where his head's at. Interesting.
Speaker 2 (01:04:22):
But you know, in week number seven was the Bengals
twenty one to fourteen over the Cleveland Browns. Jamis Winston
right now is probably benched, So I don't think he'll
be playing today. And it's different playing for something or
maybe playing for Pride, as you always mentioned. You know,
you can't dog it because you may be cut and
(01:04:43):
you want to look good on tape, so you're still
gonna put out so you look good on tape for
maybe another job for another team. So the Browns will
come to play, and I think there's something to be
said about, you know what, we're not going to the playoffs,
but let's keep them from going to the playoffs too.
Speaker 3 (01:04:58):
I mean there's some of that motivation there. But you're professionals, man.
You want to be proffer in your performance. Regardless of
what the situation is. You still want to be able
to play, and you still want to have an opportunity
to extend your career. The only thing you can control
is how you perform. And you know, in regards to
the circumstances, you got to perform. You expected to play
to a certain stand. If you do that, don't have
(01:05:20):
to worry about it. If you don't that, that's when
some of the scary stuff can happen.
Speaker 2 (01:05:24):
You know, we talk about the run game all the time.
We see what Saquon Barkley did for Philadelphia, and everybody's
kind of high and really a sky high with Jamar
Chase and Joe brolrightly saw with his stats proved that.
But when they got rid of Joe Mixon and Peerin,
they're running back on Kansas City. He was a Bengal too.
And they got Zach Moss, who basically did nothing. Then
(01:05:45):
he got hurt. I think that was a major blow
and that kind of went under the radar with the
stats that Jamar Chase has been putting up, but they
don't have much of a running game. They got Chase Brown,
who's really done well, but really and truly Joe Mixon
is lost, and Peerin did a great job for Kansas
City yesterday. I really believe that the two guys that
really could have helped the Bengals offensively with their run game,
(01:06:07):
and they're gone. People don't realize more.
Speaker 1 (01:06:10):
That's true.
Speaker 3 (01:06:12):
Yeah, and they thought they were. They could be easily replaced.
All the conversation that we always hear about the running
backs like that kind of came out. Or we can
just replace Joe Mixing with whatever. What you underestimated maybe
with Joe Mixon and p Run their impact in the
locker room. How much did they do behind the scenes
to make sure that the team was operating smoothly. What
(01:06:32):
did they say, who do they hold accountable? Who did
they check up? Then their performance? These guys performed well
in the clutch. You knew it. And you can't keep everybody.
You have to make hard decisions. But to me, the
Bengals certainly didn't help themselves when they let U Joe
mixing up the building.
Speaker 2 (01:06:50):
Yeah, and what do you think of Zach Moss. I
wasn't that impressed with Zach Moss even in Indianapolis?
Speaker 1 (01:06:54):
Were you?
Speaker 5 (01:06:55):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:06:55):
Not really? He was fine. I mean, he's fine player.
I remember watching him coming out our school. Authors have
an opportunity to be great, but he hasn't been that.
He's just been a nice spot player. But that's someone
you build.
Speaker 1 (01:07:04):
Around, right I'm with you right there. Okay, we move
on to Indianapolis.
Speaker 2 (01:07:09):
Speaking of Indianapolis, they're hosting the Titans today Indianapolis six
and eight, Titans three and eleven, and the Colts right
now they're not mathematically eliminated yet, but we'll see what
happens about in week five. The Colts won that game,
nailed by the twenty seventeen. Again, the Colts are playing
for something the Titans are not. That probably means some
(01:07:29):
of the game is in Indianapolis, and all of a
sudden now with Anthony Richardson after being benched, they have
come back being somewhat more athletic and running the ball
with him and as well as Jonathan Taylor.
Speaker 1 (01:07:41):
So I think right now the Colts win this game again.
Speaker 3 (01:07:46):
Yeah, I mean, like Anthony Richard it certainly has been
better since he's bounced back, and when you watch how
they move around and make plays with him kind of
doing his thing, it's been successful. Right now. Man, it's
the situation critical for the coast. They got to find
a way to win. And so when you think about that,
got to put it on his back. He has to
step up his game a little bit. This is the
(01:08:08):
way that he gets it done.
Speaker 2 (01:08:10):
All right now we move over storyline here and Vikings.
The Vikings right now are are at Seattle today playing
the Seahawks, and I think the story right now, the
underlying story right now, and I mentioned this coming in
will will he play next year?
Speaker 1 (01:08:23):
But talk about Sam Donald?
Speaker 2 (01:08:25):
You know where he is going to play next year
because obviously the Vikings invested a first round pick and
JJ McCarthy he's missing his rookie year with that Tory miniscus,
so it's going to be tough to hand Donald the
long term contract. Could a franchise tag be on the table?
What's going to happen to Sam Donald? And I look
at this team right now, I think if they get
a serviceable quarterback who doesn't turn the ball over, which
(01:08:48):
basically Sam Donald's has been doing with the offensive punch
that they have with the justin Jefferson's other world, I
think anybody could fill in that role.
Speaker 1 (01:08:56):
Maybe I'm crazy, but I think they can.
Speaker 2 (01:08:58):
And I think that they're gonna stick with Jim mccafee
because they invested in him and they drafted it, so
he'll be back if he's healthy.
Speaker 1 (01:09:04):
So I don't think it makes that much of a difference.
Speaker 2 (01:09:06):
Maybe I'm wrong, but on certain teams, you could just
plug in a quarterback as long as he's not a
turnover a machine, and that's going to happen.
Speaker 3 (01:09:16):
I wouldn't quite say that you can turn in and
plug anybody in, because we saw what they looked like
with Nick Mullins and Josh Dobbs a few seasons ago.
It's not the same. However, they do have a formula
that works for some quarterbacks that's why they could always
be and maybe the reclamation project business, meaning they take
this past veterans and help them find their footing. It's
(01:09:39):
not a coincidence that Daniel Jones is on their practice
squad right now, Sam Donald bac It's maybe Daniel Jones
comes in and competes with JJ McCarthy and gives them
the bridge quarterback that they need. Kevin O'Connell is a
great play called and one of the best in the league.
He is also a quarterback whisperer. He's done that for
a while after playing the position, so this this is
(01:10:00):
one where he understands how to squeeze all the juice
out of the orange at the quarterback position. And regardless
of whether they have Sam down or not, they'll be competitive.
But Sam Don is pretty good and I think you
get give them his flowers, right.
Speaker 2 (01:10:11):
I think the Vikings win this game. And here's some
of the reasons why. I don't know if Gino Smith
is going to play or Sam Howell's going to start
a quarterback for the Seahawks, I don't know. I would
think Sam Howell, I really do, because I think Gino's
banged up. But it doesn't make a difference because they
both turn over the ball.
Speaker 3 (01:10:25):
They really do.
Speaker 2 (01:10:26):
Gino Smith as good as he's been and last year
he was tremendous, and he had a good year this year.
Thus far the Seahawks eight and six, he's thrown thirteen
interceptions this year. Sam Howell has thrown an NFL high
twenty one interceptions last year. So you got two guys
that turned the ball over. You know, the Vikings got
to be smacking their chops.
Speaker 1 (01:10:45):
Right now to see that. So I think that's the
key right there.
Speaker 2 (01:10:48):
So with the injury factor at the quarterback position, they
really got to get their running game going if they can.
But still, in all I think the Vikings are a
better team. I think the Vikings will win this game,
even though it's in Seattle.
Speaker 1 (01:11:00):
Vikings win.
Speaker 3 (01:11:01):
Mmm mm mmmm uh yeah, I'm with you on the Vikings.
It's fun you bring up all the stats about the turnovers,
and the first thing it leads me to belite to
think Brian Floyds is going to attack this team relentlessly
from everywhere with pressures and they're gonna play a mix
of zone and man behind it. They're gonna simulate some
(01:11:24):
pressures to kind of create the pressure, feel the anxiety
that comes with playing against the high pressure team. To
keep that off, and we'll see how the Seattle Sea
Hawks handle it. But yeah, this is a big win
for the Minnesota Vikings because they still have a chance
to vault everybody and get to the top of the
conference as the number one seed. They need to take
care of business right.
Speaker 2 (01:11:44):
Patriots are playing at the Buffalo Bills today. This is
a Mike North game. If it's in your backyard, you
close the drapes. You don't want to watch this game.
Bills eleven and three, Patriots three and eleven. And I
will tell you this much. They should have a handicap
in the NFL like they're doing golf.
Speaker 1 (01:11:58):
What do I mean by that?
Speaker 2 (01:11:59):
If the Patriots were playing this game and I was
the King of the NFL, I would let them play
twelve on eleven. That's the handicap, and they still couldn't win.
The Patriots could not beat the Buffalo Bills if they
play twelve on eleven.
Speaker 1 (01:12:13):
Do you agree?
Speaker 3 (01:12:15):
I do not agree. I do not agree. I do
not agree.
Speaker 1 (01:12:19):
But there should be a handicap.
Speaker 3 (01:12:20):
They just should be. I mean maybe for entertainment purposes, Yes,
this should be a handicap. But I will say this
about be careful on the Patriots just because they're prideful
and when they're wounded like they can always flip it
and go on to attack. You just have to be
careful in dealing with it. You can't sleep walking to
(01:12:41):
this game against the Patriots because the Patriots and doctor
Bills off.
Speaker 1 (01:12:45):
You're sounding like a coach. Now, you're sounding like a coach.
Speaker 3 (01:12:48):
We see it, we see it. We see it too often,
like any given Sunday. They have the NFL on the Jersey.
They have a collection of guys that can do it. Man,
I have a top end quarterback, which is keeping them back.
But they're talented enough to just polls a problem in
the post.
Speaker 2 (01:13:04):
Well, I will say this, New England's past defense has
been somewhat respectable and they have a pretty talented secondary,
so they could create some problems early on, but I
think the Bills pull away and.
Speaker 1 (01:13:16):
That Bill's put up about thirty today.
Speaker 2 (01:13:18):
They Bills put up I mean offensively, they stink, they
do and I know Drake made your guy. They may
eventually become a good quarterback in the NFL, but they
don't have any firepower on offense.
Speaker 3 (01:13:28):
They don't have any firepower. But you told me that
this team could beat them eleven on twelve. And now
you be a tight game into the end, Like what
are we doing? We can blow them out. We canna
blow them out.
Speaker 2 (01:13:41):
Shot, it'll be like thirty three to seven something like that.
Thirty eight to seven. That's that's what that's what the
score will be.
Speaker 3 (01:13:48):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (01:13:49):
Yeah, they'll talk about they got the Bills mafia there today.
They've been going crazy.
Speaker 1 (01:13:53):
They're going to nuts.
Speaker 3 (01:13:54):
Vegas, Vegas. People love you. Put up deck on the number.
You feel like they don't blow the spread. I mean,
I don't see what the over unders, but you're all
about it. Yeah, give you like I feel good.
Speaker 1 (01:14:04):
I feel good. Yeah, I feel betting with you, I
really do.
Speaker 3 (01:14:11):
I you made me start concentrate, start concentrying.
Speaker 1 (01:14:15):
I don't want to give you any any advantage and
any whatsoever.
Speaker 2 (01:14:18):
Fucking Brooks a deferment Fox Football Sunday and Fox Sports. Ready,
this is the only game we're really and truly there's
no game plan. I don't think. I don't think bottom
barrel betting. It's freaking next bottom barrel betting right around
the bed. It's about another minutes now before the top
of the hour. He's Bucky Brooks, I mean de Ferman.
We are Fox Football Sunday and Fox Bots ready and
we'll lie for the tire Rock dot Com stadium.
Speaker 1 (01:14:40):
We got a game to play, all right, let's play it.
Speaker 2 (01:14:43):
You know there's only one person on God's Green Earth
that could play this game and kind of put it together.
Speaker 1 (01:14:47):
And his name is.
Speaker 3 (01:14:50):
Here.
Speaker 5 (01:14:50):
He is Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah. There is
only one Kwanza Kwanza. I can't forget about Kwanza? Is
there anything else? Andy that I'm a singer, There's got
to be something. We'll figure We'll figure it out. We'll
come back to you next hour when Mike Carmen joins us.
Speaker 1 (01:15:07):
But Andy, today's the shortest stay of the year.
Speaker 3 (01:15:11):
You know that. I do so.
Speaker 5 (01:15:13):
It's because it was the longest night right.
Speaker 1 (01:15:15):
Right, first day of winter. Look at you, you're you
have a fact like craziest with the solstice?
Speaker 5 (01:15:22):
Anything else, Andy, before we move on to this game, give.
Speaker 1 (01:15:24):
Me some good news.
Speaker 5 (01:15:26):
You too, have good news. Two weeks in a row, Andy,
you win. I don't think that's ever happened.
Speaker 3 (01:15:32):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:15:33):
I'm not glowing. I'm not gloating.
Speaker 5 (01:15:36):
Okay, We've been playing this game two years now and
that's never happened. So I just did big congratulations to
Andy here he won three to two. He is still
not in the overall lead. Andy is coming close though.
Andy has thirty three and Buckie is at thirty seven.
So Bucky, let's see if you can hold him off
this week. This one, I'm gonna do a little different here.
(01:15:58):
What will be the most watched UK Christmas Day TV program?
Gavin and Stacey is coming in at negative fourteen hundred,
The King's Speech is coming in at plus eight hundred,
and then Wallace and Grommitt Vengeis Most Foul is coming
in at plus twelve hundred.
Speaker 1 (01:16:18):
Andy, you get to go, hell are you talking about?
Speaker 5 (01:16:20):
This was one of the most obscure lines I have
ever seen on a sports book that you could actually
bet on. So you're basically betting on what will be
seen the most in the UK on Christmas Day. It's
either Gavin and Stacey, the King's Speech or Wallace in
Grammitt Vengis Vengeance Most found.
Speaker 1 (01:16:37):
Go with Gavin and Stacy.
Speaker 5 (01:16:38):
I don't know what the safe it's the safe pick no,
you know what, I.
Speaker 1 (01:16:41):
Don't want to be safe. I'll go with the King's speech. Okay,
I'll go. I'll give Bucky a break. I'll I like
that my Chris gifts.
Speaker 3 (01:16:49):
All right, so you need to I'm gonna go to
Gavin and Stace.
Speaker 5 (01:16:52):
Now, Okay, but Bucky, Gavin and Stacey is minus fourteen
hundred to win this, so he might have just done
you a favorite in this.
Speaker 3 (01:17:01):
We gotta get back on track. I'm writing down, I'm
writting down notes right now. I'm not playing around. Have
the focused and goofing off.
Speaker 1 (01:17:09):
On the internet.
Speaker 5 (01:17:10):
Yeah, you just just you just look up Gavin and
Sta Stacy, the King's speech, Wallas and Grammet. I'm sure
you could find it on YouTube or something. I'm sure
you can find our streaming service.
Speaker 1 (01:17:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:17:21):
In the German Men's Handball League, HC Erland is taking
on TVV Lemgo today at seven thirty am Pacific Standard time.
Erlin is minus one twenty while TBV is plus one fifty.
Speaker 3 (01:17:33):

Speaker 1 (01:17:39):
I'm glad.
Speaker 2 (01:17:39):
I'm Gladline. I'm happy for you because I love TV.
There's nothing better than TV. There's nothing better than football
on TV. So TVV, TV squared. I love TV Sweet.
Speaker 5 (01:17:50):
It was TBV. But that's that's fine too, TVV. We'll
go at that same thing in the PDC World Championship.
It's a darts competition that starts in December and ends
in jam Martin Schindler is taking on Callan Rides. Rides
are spelled r y d Z. If you guys are wondering,
I know. We like fun names. At eleven to fifteen
am Pacific Standard time, Martin Schindler is minus one sixty
(01:18:12):
while Kallen rides r y d Z is plus one
five Andy.
Speaker 1 (01:18:16):
I gotta go with Schindler's list. I gotta go with Shindler.
I'll take it. It's a pretty good movie.
Speaker 3 (01:18:23):
It was a good movie. It was a good movie.
It was a good.
Speaker 5 (01:18:27):
Rides all right, sweet, nice and easy. Bucky, you always
make it easy for me.
Speaker 3 (01:18:30):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (01:18:31):
Oh and I don't. I don't you favorite Bucky Brooks?
Speaker 3 (01:18:36):
You do? I favor the king? What do you want
from me?
Speaker 5 (01:18:39):
Obviously, if you become the king, I'll favor you. I
just go with the winner. What do you want from me?
Mufasa has hit theaters this past Thursday. Have you guys
seen Mufasa any any of you guys. Have you guys
seen it yet?
Speaker 3 (01:18:55):
I've not seen it, but I'm looking forward to it.
Speaker 5 (01:18:59):
It follows the origin story of Mufasa from the Lion
King as a cup too is adult young Life. The
movie is expected to get thirty six million to thirty
eight million in the box office through the weekend, if
the line is set at thirty seven million. Do you
guys have the under or the over? Andy, I'll start
with you.
Speaker 1 (01:19:15):
I'm going with the the I'll go with the under.
Speaker 5 (01:19:19):
Okay, under.
Speaker 1 (01:19:20):
I'm a negative kind of guy, you know, I'm the grinch.
Speaker 5 (01:19:22):
I get you.
Speaker 3 (01:19:22):
That's negative. Who doesn't want to take their kids to
get them out of the house. Yeah, I'm taking the
old one over. Everyone sees this, get them out of
the house.
Speaker 5 (01:19:31):
I'll be seeing it this week one hundred. It's not
doing as good. I think Sonic the Hedgehog is beating.
Speaker 1 (01:19:38):
I want to see the Bob Dylan movie on Christmas.
Speaker 5 (01:19:40):
That's what I want to Oh, that's good it with
with Yeah, that's gonna be a great movie. I'm very
excited for that. We do have another one, but we
don't got a lot of time for it.
Speaker 2 (01:19:48):
No, it's some film's coming in here next on Fox
Football Sunday.
Speaker 1 (01:19:52):
Stick with us, Stay here,
