loaded NFL Sunday.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
We got seven games about to kick off around the NFL.
Giants at the Falcons, Lions at the Bears, Browns at
the Bengals, Titans at the Colts, Rams at the Jets,
Eagles at the Commanders, Cardinals at the Panthers. Richie, here
we are Week sixteen of the NFL. We've already had
some interesting games with well really six teams that expect

(00:46):
to make it into the postseason. We had, of course,
that big come from behind win for the Chargers over
the Broncos yesterday.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
The Chiefs get a break again.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
With that devastating injury with Tank Dell in a down
and that we expect it to tie a game, and
then a really a deflated Texans team had no answers
for the Chiefs after that. You know, this has just
been that time of the year where expect the unexpected,
and we got not a lot of dynamic matchups here.

(01:17):
We only really have one matchup of potential playoff teams
on both sides that of course, the Eagles at the Commanders,
but still a lot of play with and play four
at this time of the season.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
Look, i'm the things that are important down the end
of the regular season are similar to the things that
are important at the start of the season, and it's
building confidence at the start of the season. You want
to build confidence toward what your identity is going to
be for the regular.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Season, for the full season.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
Down the stretch, it's building confidence for the playoffs. Yeah,
there's a lot of teams who are playing today who
are going to be playoff teams. I mean we're looking
at one kicking off right now, Yons Bears, and on
the opening kickoff the Lions get down the field, make
it tackle inside the twenty. You know, you want to
hone things to a razor thin edge as you're making

(02:07):
your way toward your postseason, especially for teams who potentially
like the Chiefs we saw yesterday, like the Lions today,
potentially having a first seed buy because that is one
of those those things that coaches love in concept, but
you're also scared of that first round by because you
don't want complacency to sneak in.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
By the way, weather will be a factor.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
It is cold folks around the NFL today fifteen degrees
right now in Buffalo, kicking off in Chicago twenty degrees.
So it's that time of the year where we have
some really cold weather. By the way, the game I
did not mention it yesterday, course a convincing win by
the Ravens over the Steelers. They both have a ten
and five record, but the Steelers still have the advantage

(02:50):
because they have a better conference record.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
There's seven and three in conference games. The Ravens are
six and four.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
So even though the Ravens beat the Steelers yesterday, they
have head to head we'd tied obviously.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
So the next breaker is conference records.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
So right now, Steelers still hold the edge in terms
of being the division winner.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
Right and what's fascinating about that is, and this is
something that I've been talking about at the closing weeks
of the season, is whoever comes out of the AFC
North is going to be battered and bruised and broken
a little bit, because there are fierce games everywhere. Look,
the Browns haven't been an easy win for anybody in
the North going into Cleveland or when they face Cleveland,

(03:34):
and they're the worst team, I mean, next to the
Cincinnati Bengals, who scares everybody because of their offense. They
just don't play defense. And then obviously the Ravens and
the Steelers of the class of the division. But there
are fierce rivalries. That's six games where you're getting beat up,
very dissimilarly to a lot of the other divisions around
the NFL where the schedules can be softer. It's just

(03:57):
a war of attrition in that division.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Teams right now opening Drive the Rams. Rams start of
the year one in four. They now won seven of
the last night, almost a repeat a way happened last
year where it appeared that the Rams best days are
behind them, and all of a sudden, they went eight
of their last nine to get in the postseason. And
let's face it, almost beat the Lions in Detroit in
that playoff game. But here are the Rams once again.

(04:21):
They have the tie break over the Seahawks. Seahawks will
play a little bit later on. But the Rams on
the road against a Jets team in which Aaron Rodgers
coming off his best game of the season, three touchdown passes,
no picks, and to win against hapless at Jacksonville. By
the way, Enigma, have you watched this documentary?

Speaker 2 (04:39):
You know who has?

Speaker 3 (04:41):
My ex Denise, who's a big Aaron Rodgers fan. She's
like all these bad things that have ever been said
about him. You know, I'm watching this and he's a
really good guy. And I'm like, you do know who
produced that?

Speaker 5 (04:52):
Right?

Speaker 3 (04:52):
Like you understand how how that all worked? But I mean,
the fact is cutting back to the Rams, is that
if you don't already know that Sean McVay is one
of the best coaches in the NFL, you lose Aaron
Donald on your defense and you go back to square one.
Because every team that had faced the Rams over the
last ten years, believe me, offensively said all right, how

(05:14):
do we handle that guy? Yeah, in the middle of
the defensive line. You take him out, your defense has
an entirely different look.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
They got off to a rough start. But remember this
about the Rams.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
Two of their wins this year are against the Vikings,
a team that's lost two games this year and the
Buffalo Bills. Yep, and the think to this rich. They
beat the Bills forty four to forty two, and the
very next week they beat the forty nine ers twelve
to six. That's coaching where you know, based on the circumstances,
whether it's a shootout or a defensive struggle, nothing but

(05:47):
few goals in that game against the forty nine ers,
figure out a way to win.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
Yeah, The Rams, going back to what you said to
start this whole thing, the Rams having a very similar
season to last year for two reasons. Great coach, great quarterback.
As long as your quarterback stays healthy. If you have
a great coach and a great quarterback, you have a
chance to do really special things. And it almost doesn't
matter what happens around the pair. You know, if there's

(06:12):
going to be injuries, of course there's going to be injuries.
If you lose a great and dynamic defensive player like
they did, you know, Aaron Donald there in twenty twenty three,
not there in twenty twenty four, what do you do well?
When you have those two positions hemmed up, life gets
a lot easier. I mean, just look across the league.
When you have that combination, life gets a lot easier.

(06:34):
Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes, Dan Campbell and Jared Goff.
The way he's played most of this season, I mean, shoot,
throw Sam Darnald's named some respect and throw Kevin O'Connell
a bone here for what he's been able to do
with the Vikings over his first three seasons as a
head man. There are some impressive coaches out there who
are doing amazing things with really talented quarterbacks. Now is

(06:56):
Sam Donald an MVP candidate this year? Maybe maybe not,
But I will say this, he's elevated his game with
that program. But Stafford getting back to the Rams, Stafford
great quarterback, proven great quarterback in this league. Sean McVay,
great coach, proven great coach in this league. They're gonna
get a lot of like, really good quality wins even

(07:18):
in close games during the course of any season, and
a playoff Berth is waiting as long as they finish
up strong here.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
All right, How can you be both a huge winner
and a huge loser in the same season as a player, Well,
I'll tell you one that was, and that is Kirk Cousins.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
Think about kirk Cousins.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
He leaves Minnesota for a huge deal in Atlanta, and
a lot of people thought, wow, Minnesota, they had we
go for a quarterback in the draft. JJ McCarthy signed
Sam Darnold. I mean, he's lousy. The Vikings aren't going
to be a playoff team. Well, they're city at twelve
and two right now, so they have not missed kirk
Cousins at all. Then he goes to Atlanta and he
has been so bad, so inapt over the last four

(07:59):
to five weeks. They finally pulled the plug on the guy,
all right. So that's the loser part, you know, the
winner part. Ninety million dollars in guaranteed money this year. Yep,
that's how much.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
He made.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
Ninety million dollars, by the way, bringing his career earnings
to two hundred and ninety four million dollars. For a
quarterback that has won one playoff game in his entire career,
that's a winner.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Man.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
If you could convince people to pour huge money in
your pocket expecting you to be some kind of elite quarterback,
kirk Cousins is serviceable. His skill set is above average,
which is why he's.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
Made so much money.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
Over the years, but it was obvious and we saw
this in that debacle that he had against the Chargers.
He can't even throw the football right now, so they
finally pull the plug. Panic's getting in the start, and
I believe on this opening drive here, if I'm not mistaken, I.

Speaker 4 (08:51):
Finished with a field goal. So the Falcons lead three
to nothing over the Giants.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Did they get a field goal, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (08:57):
They attempted a forty two yarder. Did not get that
field goal? Did he miss it?

Speaker 2 (09:02):
Yeah, well I thought that went through and that they
missed the field goal, So it is no score right
now after the missfield goal by the Falcons. By the way,
penis two of five to twenty seven yards.

Speaker 4 (09:12):
Commenting on something you said though there about Kirk Cousins, Look, yet,
ninety million dollars guaranteed shouldn't impress anybody when we're talking
about quarterback contracts.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
It just shouldn't.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
Well, he's collected more guaranteed money than in quarterback in
the history of the NFL at this point, two hundred
ninety four million.

Speaker 4 (09:29):
And guess what, he took a little bit of a
price cut by taking more upfront in guarantees than what
other quarterbacks really take.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (09:38):
I mean, like, look at some of the contracts that
are being signed around the NFL to quarterbacks who frankly
are worse than Kirk.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Why but why is Kirk Cousins in that conversation at all?

Speaker 4 (09:47):
Because you just said it yourself. He's better than average.
If you're better than average, which means if you're a
top say twenty quarterback in this league, you're gonna get
paid Banana's money. That's just the going, right. It's like saying,
why does this crummy house in Beverly Hills cost so
much money? Because you're in Beverly Hills. That's how it

(10:08):
works in certain zip codes. So it doesn't matter what
you think of Kirk Cousins. I'll tell you what I
know about Kirk Cousins. He's a top twenty quarterback, so
he's gonna get paid huge jobs of money. And to
bring up the money conversation when you're talking about Kirk
Cousins and how he compares to the rest of the NFL, Yeah,
he's having a crummy season, but over the course of
his career he's been a dependable quarterback as a starter

(10:32):
and that's the truth. So yeah, the money is going
to be there for quarterbacks like that. Now, how's he
played well this season? Now, Kirk Cousins has played lousy
this season. That's the reason why he got bench from
Michael Pennix Junior. And here's what's worse for the Falcons.
They look like idiots. Just what we thought was gonna
happen when they drafted Michael Pennix Junior is happening because

(10:53):
everybody's questioning, why did you pay Kirk all that money
if you're going to draft a quarterback? Anyways, they traded
up to get a quarterback. It makes zero sense. It
still makes zero sense.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
Wow, was that good? They call that extra point? Good
by the Eagles. That thing looked like he hooked it.
That's how that The Falcons one looked too confused me,
but that was that Eagle would be like an absolutely
job there.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
But they give the Eagles scoring a touchdown there, Bo,
can you give us an update on the Eagles in
that opening we got?

Speaker 6 (11:23):
We have a way more fun update for you guys.
So Jameis Winston is the Browns emergency community in the
third string. He may actually see time today because dtr
is already in the medical tent. So Bailey's appy is
playing quarterback for the Cleveland Browns right now.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
And by the way, speaking of the Browns, so Jerome
Ford ran a sixty six yard run to put a
first and goal of the one yard line. Then they
had a touchdown called back with review, and then they
fumbled the ball. Yep, zero points for the Browns. There's
a reason why they are sitting at three and.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
Eleven, right Christmas, Browns fans. Lions have just gotten a
field goal to take an early three to nothing lead
in their game against the Bears. All right, so we
are just up and running.

Again and the gun he takes it.

Speaker 7 (12:46):
He gives it off to Barkley and he's sitting pull
the touchdown and with that touchdown, sa Kuon Barkley has
set his all time personal record for touchdowns rushing touchdowns
in the season twelve.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
That's ninety four. WIP Eagles Radio Network.

Speaker 3 (13:04):
Eagles with an early seven and nothing lead against the Commanders.
Eagles come in this game on a ten game winning streak.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
Once again, this is Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 3 (13:14):
We're live from the ti IRAQ dot com studios. By
the way, Saquon Barkley, who was held in check a
week ago by the Steelers, he needs to average about
one hundred and forty plus yards per game over these
last three games to break Eric Dickerson's all time rushing record.
That's a lot at this time of the year, but

(13:35):
not impossible. So we'll see if Saquon Barkley can get
it going.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
But he is. He is on the board early.

Speaker 3 (13:41):
Also, Rich Titan's taking the early lead against the Colts.
Colts trying to hang on to their very very slim chance.
I'm making into the postseason Titans seven to nothing. And
by the way, if you're Joe Burrow, you're like, what
the heck? Bengals take a seven to nothing lead over
the Browns four for four forty one yards in the
opening drive. Joe Burrows statistically is having the best season

(14:02):
passing wise of any quarterback by far, no doubt in
the NFL this year. I had picked him as my
preseason MVP. If you had told me that Week sixteen
he would have these numbers.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
I'm like, hello, MVP, and like, no.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
The Bengals obviously are and the same predicament as the Colts.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
They need a lot of help.

Speaker 3 (14:21):
Obviously, they got to win out and hope that either
the Chargers or Broncos stumble down the stretch. But it's
unfortunate for a guy like Joe Burrow to have these
kind of numbers and not even make it probably into
the postseason.

Speaker 4 (14:35):
Well, let me say this about the the Joe Burrow
led Bengals. The Bengals better get it together defensively. I'm
talking about head coach, front office ownership. They better get
this situation figured out fast because player movement is happening
at positions we haven't really seen move with the level

(14:56):
of frequency, specifically quarterback. We've seen so much many franchise
quarterbacks who played the majority of their career with either
the team that they were drafted by or the team
that they had most success with, and then all of
a sudden, things start to go sideways.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
Disagreements come up with head coaches.

Speaker 4 (15:14):
Or with staff or with personnel arrangements, and then that
quarterback starts get antsy and once out. We saw it
with Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks. We obviously saw
it with Tom Brady. We saw the Rams sort of
mastermind a trade with the Detroit Lines. I'm sure Matthew
Stafford was thrilled to go to LA a team with

(15:34):
an actual chance to win a Super Bowl, and did
Kirk Cousins. He's left now two franchises that he spent
time with. It's just happening more and more. As the
Jets catch a touchdown pass, Aaron Rodgers found his favorite receiver,
DeVonta Adams, in the back of the end zone, so
that actually puts the Jets over the Rams. I was

(15:54):
just discussing their six nothing ballgame in New York right now.
But yeah, to get back to Joe Burrow. They need
to figure this out because Joe is going to be
another name on a growing list of quarterbacks who gets
impatient with a franchise.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
All right, bo, what he got for us?

Speaker 6 (16:10):
Yeah, Jalen Hurts had his head driven into the turf.
So can you Pickett is in the game for the
Eagles right now?

Speaker 4 (16:16):
Yeah, look like he got his bell rung pretty good.
He got back up and he went back into the huddle,
right and he.

Speaker 6 (16:21):
Yeah, like you think like he gave the refs a
thumbs up and maybe they stopped play after that and
put can you picket in there?

Speaker 2 (16:27):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (16:27):
Hurts by the way, forty one yards rushing, just one
of four passing for eleven yards.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
So obviously we'll keep you updated there.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
Eagles already with a seven to nothing laid have a
second and eight right now at the commander's nine yard line,
so trying.

Speaker 8 (16:40):
To We also have one hell of a Bengals touchdown
here with the from Joe Burrow. Like that's he's getting
knocked down and throwing it at like crazy hinches as
his knees are about to hit the ground and it's
finding home.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
See Higgins on the receiving end there, he's really really
really good.

Speaker 4 (16:57):
Now we have a third and three for the Eagle
who lead seven to nothing in Washington. Aj Brown just
caught a pass down inside the five yard line. Yeah,
so line of scrimmage out the four yard line, first
down marker at the one yard line, and Kenny Picket
in at quarterback as Bo mentioned, because Hurts is out
as the play clock expires. So Kenny Pickett gets a

(17:20):
flag for the procedural and.

Speaker 3 (17:22):
Look at HER's putty on his helmet, saying, okay, get
him out of there.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
He sucks.

Speaker 3 (17:25):
We need to win this game, and we need to
get myself back in. And right now Hurts has got
his helmet back on. Lions have taken ten nothing laid
already against the Happlos Bears. Course, the Lions coming out
that loss to the Buffalo Bills, but still the number
one seed. They win the tie breaks right now over
the Eagles and the Vikings.

Speaker 8 (17:45):
Still feeling like they're missing money a little bit here
with I'm sorry, I got distracted by something, but that's
just something off here. But like you know, they get down,
they call Jamir Gibbs short at the half yard line.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
I saw that too, Yeah, and.

Speaker 8 (17:59):
It takes and it takes three attempts to get him
into the end zone, which usually with Montgomery on the
half yard line that's usually automatic. So a little bit
I mean, still working for the Lions, but a little
bit harder.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
To get it.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
By the way, the Jets missed the extra point, so
six and nothing. Jets over the Rams yesterday. The injury
to Tank Dell was just brutal.

Speaker 2 (18:22):
So Kenny Pickett, by the way, is still in a
quarterback Jellen Hurts. They won't let him back in yet.
He's got a clear touchdown picket. On the touchdown pass
he throws. He finds aj Brown in the end zone
on the short slant pass and they actually did call
a time out right before the flag came out. So
Kenny Pickett, Yeah, didn't end up costing them five yards

(18:43):
and he just got them a touchdown. Well, considering AJ
Brown called out Jalen Hurts were not targeting him more,
he got to like that play. That was as easy
as it gets. Can we just start a QB controversy
in Philly?

Speaker 3 (18:53):
Now, Well, I don't know you're the one that started it. Well,
you've been saying that Jalen Hurts is the weak link.
This Eagles team, and it's time to find a new quarterback.

Speaker 6 (19:02):
AJ Brown might be happy with a guy that can
throw the ball to him.

Speaker 2 (19:05):
Now, well that's my whole point. Oh the pinket could
deliver the ball. All right, we're checking in on the
extra point.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
It is good fourteen nothing now Eagles take the lead
against the Commanders. I want to get back to the
Tank Dell injury and how it affected that Texans team.
You know, Rich, you're playing the Chiefs. You just scored
on a touchdown. It was friendly fire, as they said
on TV, where his own teammate ran into it. It
was a gruesome injury to that knee, obviously to Tank Dell.

(19:33):
Long delay, finally take him off in the ambulance, and
Kyme Fairbairn misses the extra point. I know, and you
were just like all right, and you're watching C. D.
Stroud literally crying on the sidelines with the injury to
his buddy Tank Dell. I knew they wouldn't recover and
unfortunate circumstances, but we've been saying.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
This week after week with the Chiefs worst.

Speaker 3 (19:55):
Eleven and one team ever wors twelve and one team
Ever Wor's thirteen to one team at now they're the
worst fourteen to one team ever.

Speaker 4 (20:02):
Yeah, they're They're pretty terrible. But I will say this,
they find a way to win, thank you. And that's
the only thing that matters.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
Well, isn't that, Andy Reid?

Speaker 3 (20:11):
At some point, if this is the first worst fourteen
to one team ever, shouldn't the coach get credit for
winning games?

Speaker 2 (20:17):
Oh? No, we absolutely should.

Speaker 4 (20:18):
And the longer this goes on for the more you
think to yourself, you know, luck is only an explanation
for a portion of the season. At a certain point,
you have to give credit where credit's due. And the
Chiefs they keep it close, They keep it within striking
distance in every single game. They probably make too many
of these games too close for themselves because they're clearly

(20:41):
better than some of the teams that they've beaten throughout
the course of their schedule, and they find a way
to win. In the end, the only thing that matters
in the NFL is w's thank That's it.

Speaker 2 (20:52):
That's it. This isn't college football.

Speaker 4 (20:53):
You don't have to beat you know, Maryland by one million.
You don't have to you know, show out against Boise
like you just gotta win. You just have to win
in advance.

Speaker 3 (21:04):
By the way, wasn't Carson Wentz supposed to be a
quarterback for the Chiefs. What happened to a high ankle
sprain that was gonna keep? And then immediately Mahomes runs
fifteen yards for a touchdown on that high ankle sprain.

Speaker 4 (21:14):
They rushed it five times in the game, thirty three yards,
one touchdown.

Speaker 3 (21:17):
And I mean, look, I thought he was sitting out.
We are all getting all psyched up for Carson Wentz.

Speaker 4 (21:22):
There was a point where the Texans leading up to
this game were favored by almost four points, and then
of course it flipped when Mahomes was back out at
practice and all that. You know, so there was some
value to be taken if you were on the chief
side earlier in the week and he comes back in
the game and he looks fine, I look, is it
a is am I saying that he's not injured? No,

(21:46):
of course he's injured. Everybody's injured playing football this time
of year. It's Week sixteen. But am I saying it
was as bad as potentially? People were discussing and talking
about Maybe it wasn't, Maybe it was a little bit overblown.
Exactly how serious of an injury.

Speaker 3 (22:00):
All I hear all the time is a boy, those
high ankle springs, those are rough, Those are rough.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
Didn't look rough for mahomes.

Speaker 3 (22:07):
All right, let's find out what it's trending right now,
And as always.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
She comes bearing gifts, maring burritos, and as usual, Moncey,
thank you so much for your generosity. It's way above
and beyond.

Speaker 4 (22:23):
Moncey Blanos, I give you a huge thank you.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
Dove Hunt Dog wine. We got a little cabernet to
sip on, and mine is not really appropriate for me.
It's called hush keeper.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
And as you know, I can never keep a secret
that I am the all time worst that way, So
like that is so not me.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
A shout out.

Speaker 9 (22:48):
I think I gave you guys wine last year. I
get the wine from Alna Rizzo, So shout out to
Alana Rizzo. Yeah, so it's not wine you can find
in a store.

Speaker 2 (22:58):
That no kidding. Yeah, so you can't find in a store.

Speaker 9 (23:00):
You have to get it through a specialty and she
she sets me up.

Speaker 2 (23:04):
So thanks Alana Rizzo who gets me my wine during Yes,
I hope you enjoy it.

Speaker 9 (23:09):
Every time I've had a Cabernet that she sends me.
It's delicious, So you know I love cabernet, so yes,
enjoy Merry Christmas.

Speaker 2 (23:17):
Always a pleasure working with you, guys. And this cabernet
pair is extremely well with the taco bell barridos exactly,
you know what, telling.

Speaker 8 (23:27):
Hearty, Yes, it really holds up to the boldness and
the dark fruits of the wine.

Speaker 9 (23:32):
Of course, and if you need a little.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
Tequila cannons, especially when you add the fire sauce one
breakfast burrito, of.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
Course, it really brings out the pepper notes in the cabernet.
Of course, look at tannons, the tannins.

Speaker 9 (23:44):
We sound like we know what we're talking about. Yes,
that's right, guys. We've got plenty of games going on,
some exciting, some not. The Giants and the Falcons are scoreless,
even though the Falcons could be on the score boarder
Riley Patterson miss a forty three yard field goal in
their opening drive, so they're scoreless. The Lions are beating
the Bears ten zero. Late in the first quarter, Jared

(24:05):
Goff five of seven seventy seven yards, but Jamior Gibbson
it took a couple tries, but he got in the
end zone with the rushing touchdown. The Bengals are on
top of the Brown seven zero ninety seconds to go
in the first quarter. Joe Burrow eight of nine eighty
five yards and one touchdown pass that went to t
Higgins and yes, as Chris mentioned, he was literally falling
as he did it. Mason Rudolph connected with Calvin Ridley

(24:26):
for a thirty eight yard touchdown pass and the Titans
are beating the.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
Colts seven zero.

Speaker 9 (24:30):
Late in the first the Jets are on top of
the Rams, Aaron Rodgers connecting with Davante Adams sig zero
is the score because they missed the extra point they
just got going in the second.

Speaker 2 (24:39):
Quarter, so far all Eagles.

Speaker 9 (24:40):
Yes, Saquon Barkley had his twelfth rushing touchdown of this
season first to start things off. Kenny Pickett is in
the game for Jalen Hurts, who apparently did go to
the locker room. But Kenny Pickett already threw a touchdown
pass to aj Brown. So all good fourteen zero against
the Commanders. Halfway through the first quarter and the Panthers
are on the scoreboard first tub of with the rushing
touchdown so they're on top of the Cardinals seven zero

(25:02):
after the first quarter. And I know it's a football show,
but I'm gonna tell you one more thing. Tiger Woods
is playing with the sun.

Speaker 2 (25:09):
Oh I saw this championship or like a tournament. Yeah,
it's it's a father's and they've been doing this like
the last four years. Are we good in one?

Speaker 5 (25:27):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (25:27):
We didn't play? Okay, hold on, you're watching you. I'm
trying to play this from the computer.

Speaker 9 (25:35):
Hold on a second, hold on this system, so give
me a second.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
I'm trying to play for the computer. All right, let's
hear it there it is there, really good contact. This
is a great looking shot. If it's the right number.

(25:59):
How good is that? Charlie Wood? This is the golf channel.
And guess what his father was actually not watching. We
had to take your break for a second. Comes back out.
Here's the lord of the crowd and Charlie Woods. It
was made an ace to PFC championship.

Speaker 9 (26:18):
So yeah, Tiger was not even watching. But his son
Charlie hits the hole in one. That was a golf channel.

Speaker 2 (26:24):
Thank you for the video. On what break did Tiger
Hell take? Like the fifth hole he was in the
bushes taking a leak on the fifth hole. That's what
it seems like anyway, but it's slow. Fifteen year old
Charlie Woods with the ace. Very very good, very very good.
There we go. I thank you very much. If I
was trying to play it on the computer, were just

(26:46):
watching you on We're like they had to be. But
there was the suspense absolutely all right.

Speaker 3 (26:52):
Once again, this is Red Zone Radio Steve Harbin and
rich Ormberger, where you were watching the Giants right now
and the first core of the Giants trying to get
the first score the game in this game against the Falcons.
Here they'll have a third and goal at the Atlanta
two yard line. We're actually watching it right now Atlanta,
which interesting, of course, is keep in mind Atlanta has

(27:13):
only one game behind Tampa for first right now in
the NFC South.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
And that's a touchdown. Wow, I want to catch he's in.
That was beautiful.

Speaker 4 (27:21):
He found his running back in the back high Robbins
end zone and he leapt up. He got one foot
in toe tapped with the other foot and Drew Locke
finds his back in the end zone.

Speaker 2 (27:32):
So it's six nothing ball game. Yeah, Drew Lock, Yeah,
Drew lock In there.

Speaker 3 (27:36):
Yeah, the guy that they don't want him because he
actually can play.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
He went Tommy DeVito there. But this is a hell
of a catch because he gets the Oh wow, that's right.
Nice to Tapper, Nice to Tapper there. So the Giants
course going nowhere this year.

Speaker 3 (27:51):
The Falcons, you know, you make this quarterback change when
you're one game back with three to play of Tampa
in that NFC South and you're gonna lean on the
rookie quarterback Penix to pull it out for you. But
right now the Giants stake the early seven nothing lead
with the extra point good on the road there.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
Yeah, to be honest with you, it's a little bit unfair.
And here's why.

Speaker 4 (28:15):
So you put a quarterback like Penix Junior in during
winning time, yeah, like you need these wins. And if yeah,
I mean, I mean, if you look at it through
the lens of an NFL season, the postseason has already
began for a lot of these teams, including Atlanta, Like,
they have no margin left. So if Pennick Junior screws

(28:36):
this up, now, Falcons fans their first taste of their
drafted rookie is oh, he couldn't get it done for
us to close out the season.

Speaker 2 (28:43):
Do you know who.

Speaker 4 (28:43):
Pennix Junior has been throwing to this whole season. It
hasn't been Drake London or Pitts. It's been the scout
team receivers. He's been their scout team quarterback. The Atlanta
Falcons are doing this all wrong. They've been doing it
wrong since they drafted him. Make a decision. Stick with
the decision. Either build around Captain Kirk or spend the

(29:04):
money you spend with Captain Kirk on building a roster
around Michael Pennix Junior.

Speaker 3 (29:08):
It's ridiculous well, and a doable schedule because last three
games you have today a home game against a two
to twelve Giants team. Your last game is a home
game against the Panthers. Now in between you have a
road game against the Commanders. But it's not like the
Falcons are out of it. Believe me, they definitely have
a chance.

Speaker 2 (29:26):
But they will have no chance if they go down
to defeat today at home against the Giants. So we'll
see what Pennix does there.

Speaker 3 (29:32):
Right now, we got the Lions attempting a thirty four
yard field goal to try to up there. Already ten
nothing lead against a Bears team. Well, you talk about
the field goal is good thirteen nothing lines. I mean,
you talk about a Bears team that was sitting at
four and two, and then that miracle pass play, the
complete f up by the Bears against the Commanders.

Speaker 2 (29:55):
Oh, Kenny Pickett just through his first interception, so he
follows up the last round a pick six. No, it
wasn't a pick six, but it was an interception.

Speaker 4 (30:03):
So fallows up to last drive where he goes two
for two with AJ Brown down there the goal line,
one of them for a score with a throw.

Speaker 2 (30:10):
Watch this Steve where I mean, no, boy, when you.

Speaker 3 (30:15):
Throw it, And he was throwing to AJ Brown too,
so you know he's like, AJ's like, throw it to me,
and He's like, unless there's a guy literally standing in front.

Speaker 2 (30:23):
Of me, okay, then don't throw it to me. Well
he did. He did just that. See, that was as
bad as a gift.

Speaker 4 (30:29):
The Commanders get the ball back trailing fourteen nothing at
home over the Eagles.

Speaker 2 (30:33):
Do we have an update yet on Jalen Hurts condition?
What is the update here? Ball on Jalen Hurts his return.

Speaker 6 (30:39):
Well, given that he slammed his head in the turf.
He's being evaluated for a concussion.

Speaker 3 (30:44):
Another team trying to hang on to their playoff hopes
are the Arizona Cardinals. They are trailing the Panthers right now,
seven to three on the road.

Speaker 2 (30:54):
So again, when you.

Speaker 3 (30:55):
Look at the NFC West, the one team that is
solely in the Bay BA is the forty nine Ers
at six and eight, Arizona at seven and seven, and
then you got the Rams and the Seahawks at eight
and six. Yeah, are we gonna see any major shakeups
of the forty nine Ers after this debacle of a season.

Speaker 2 (31:13):
Well, I think one of the major questions that is
going to have to be answered at some point this
offseason is whether or not Brock Perdy's your guy? Yeah,
are you going to commit a huge contact at Black Party?
They're all huge. We just had this discussion about it.
Is Kirk Cousty any different than Kirk Cousins. Well, and
that's my point.

Speaker 4 (31:31):
So Kirk Cousins gets ninety million dollars guarant teed, he
gets a ton of money up front from the Atlanta
Falcons to go play football for them. That's the going rate.
So you need to make sure, you need to make
damn sure that brock Perty's worth it to you. And
if he isn't, you got to figure out what's next.
So is there a QB in the draft you love?
Is there a QB that you could potentially trade for?

Speaker 10 (31:52):
You love?

Speaker 2 (31:52):
You know who you get trade for? Trey Lance? I
think Trey Lance is available with the Cowboys. Do you
think you could get good value on him? It's it's
just amazing the forty nine ers.

Speaker 4 (32:02):
I mean, this season was supposed to go so differently,
and then Brandon Ayuk with the holdout, and Trem Williams
with the holdout, and the injury situation with McCaffrey, the
situation with Ricky Piersoll where he gets shot in the
preseason leading up to the start of his rookie year
where he's a talented wide receiver. But that's a rough
way to start a season. Had to have his life

(32:23):
saved on the streets of San Francisco. Anything that could
have gone wrong on or off the field for these
forty nine ers players has all right, Well, brock Hennerty
hasn't hasn't really kept it all together for them, all right?

Speaker 3 (32:35):
What kind of odds could have gotten preseason that going
into week sixteen, the forty nine ers a being sole
last place in the NFC West.

Speaker 2 (32:43):
You could have gotten good, good.

Speaker 4 (32:45):
Odds if you sole last played, Like on certain books
they have it where you can guess the rank of
the division, like so one through four.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
If you would have if you would have gotten I
don't know what the odds would have been, they would
have been sweet sweet to put the San Francisco forty
nine ers in the basement of the division and get
it right. We'll see how the rest of the season
shakes out. But I don't see any life in this team.
All right.

Speaker 3 (33:08):
We got games that are still in the first quarter
or already got games going into the second quarter, midway
through the second quarter. Seven games going on right now
week sixteen. For all the latest, keep it here. This
is Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 11 (33:21):
Thirtain goal at the six fourteen nothing Eagles through sixteen
to go, first quarter. Here's just that playoffic game and
look at a throw to the back of you have
the line up it James the.

Speaker 12 (33:29):
Crowder touch down, touch down, Loch again to.

Speaker 2 (33:33):
Catch you on the turnover, and the game is back on.

Speaker 3 (33:36):
That's big one hundred Washington Commanders Radio Network. However, even
though the Commander's cut that lead to fourteen to seven.
Saquon Barkley just ran sixty eight yards for a touchdown
waiting on the extra point.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
Eagles lead at twenty to seven.

Speaker 3 (33:54):
So I'd mentioned earlier, Saquon needs the average about one
hundred and forty yards per game over the last three
weeks to right Eric Dickerson's all time single season rerecor
right now, Rich seven carries one hundred and nine yards
and two touchdowns and we're still in the first quarter.

Speaker 2 (34:10):
You want to do something good for your team.

Speaker 4 (34:12):
You just lost your starting quarterback, your backup quarterback has
gone in and has thrown an interception after a touchdown.
You want to get confidence back on your sideline. Hand
the ball to twenty six and let him do what
he's literally been doing his entire life.

Speaker 3 (34:28):
The way this which is one is backing tackle, but
his hesitation letting the blocks set up brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

Speaker 2 (34:35):
Are we on Adrian Peterson watch here? Yeah, guys, ninety.

Speaker 8 (34:38):
Six, not just that, But like I know, we've been
seeing the praises of Josh Allen. But I want to
keep the Saquon Barkley MVP votes coming in okay.

Speaker 4 (34:47):
And I want to slow everything down for a second,
because you're right. Saku Barkley is a masterful runner. He's
got great vision. Many of his runs have been generated
from his toughness, his ability to break tackles. This one
goes out to the offense of women. First of all,
the tight ends and also the receivers who blocked on
this play.

Speaker 2 (35:05):
Because everybody was blocked. There there there, There was nobody
there to tackle them.

Speaker 4 (35:13):
All he had to be was fast enough to hit
his head off the gould boat take there was nobody left.

Speaker 3 (35:19):
But I will say this again, that little hesitation to
allow the linemen to make their blocks.

Speaker 4 (35:25):
I'm gonna say this, if you've got to see that,
you could have gotten twenty yards on that play.

Speaker 2 (35:30):
Okay, I would have pulled. I wouldn't pulled a hammy
the second they hand me the ball. If I even
held on to the ball, are you kidding me? I
would be shaking in my boots.

Speaker 3 (35:40):
Rams have just scored Kyram Williams two yard touchdowns, so
they are an extra point away and watching them right
now making all's the extra point. So both the Rams
and the Jets missed their extra points at six six.

Speaker 4 (35:57):
Okay, a huge, huge pass to Jamison William Look at
this ball, Look at this post route.

Speaker 2 (36:05):
Is not any defense at all from go oh my gosh,
I mean bearstink. I think has been on vacation since
week five.

Speaker 3 (36:13):
Well they were on vacation on that play because he
literally my shoe and no one picked him up. So
a walk in touchdown has given the Lions, spending the
extra point, a nineteen to nothing lead. Boy, things have
just gone absolutely south for the Chicago Bears. Talk about
a big reset. They're going to be there. Colts Titans
are tied at seven right now. By the way, Mason

(36:35):
Rudolph is in at quarterback for Tennessee and he's nine
to ten fo one hundred and five yards in a touchdown.

Speaker 2 (36:43):
I mean, I why why are they trying to hang on.

Speaker 3 (36:46):
This idea that Will Levis is a better quarterback than
Mason Rudolph.

Speaker 4 (36:50):
They wanted to make all the way sure this season.
I suppose since they didn't draft anybody that Will Levis
was not the guy, and they have discovered that in spades.

Speaker 2 (37:01):
So yeah, back to the drawing ball.

Speaker 3 (37:03):
We got the six for the Falcons right now to
take the lead.

Speaker 2 (37:07):
There's a flag on the play though, we'll see what
the flag was. That that the Falcons are the big
pick there off of your guy, Drew Lock.

Speaker 4 (37:17):
Yeah, Drew Lock just threw it directly to the defense.
He looks disappointed with himself, but we don't know what
the flag.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
They're not posting a touchdowns generating he is generating points.

Speaker 8 (37:30):
The penalty was was off off sides in the offense.

Speaker 3 (37:34):
So that's wow, So offsetting penalties. No, it was they
were pointing in both directions here. This looks like and
now they know it is a it is a it's
a it's a pick six.

Speaker 2 (37:47):
Okay, yeah, yeah, the fifty five yards for the touchdowns,
so Atlanta takes a nine to seven lead, penny in
the extra point.

Speaker 6 (37:54):
I have a question for everybody when you go back
to Chicago Bears real quick. Yes, not that anybody would
want to. Can you find an interim head coach? It's
got something you could.

Speaker 2 (38:02):
Do well saying that about the Jets.

Speaker 6 (38:05):
Or anybody, because I mean, if you're gonna get shut
out at home the way the Bears have, maybe maybe
Thomas Brown should also be fired.

Speaker 3 (38:12):
Well remember this, when Sala was fired, they were two
and three and then their interim guy was one in
seven before winning last week against Jack That's what.

Speaker 8 (38:19):
I don't get about how the Bears have done this
because usually we've seen coaching staff's cleared out. You know,
Dan Campbell's first gig in the NFL twenty fifteen, he
was a tight ends coach. Joe Filben was fired, but
they went to like he Brown was already the interim
OC and now you're making him the interim head coach
as well. That's a lot of interim. Well that's a

(38:40):
double interim. It doesn't really matter. Let's face it. This
whole staff has gone after this season.

Speaker 2 (38:46):
Yeah, I mean, I.

Speaker 8 (38:47):
Just want something that's not going to tank everyone's confidence.

Speaker 2 (38:50):
I get it.

Speaker 4 (38:50):
But Caleb Williams, I at this point he's got to
go into a little bit of self preservation mode.

Speaker 2 (38:57):
This season has gone sideway.

Speaker 4 (38:59):
I saw as comment leading up to this game, he says,
the losings is really tough for me, and I get it.

Speaker 2 (39:04):
He hasn't done a lot of it over the course
of his career.

Speaker 4 (39:06):
The way he ended his USC career obviously with debilitating
for him.

Speaker 2 (39:11):
You saw him sobbing in the arms of his parents
after one of his losses at USC This loss, the
eight that have preceded it are going to be hard
for him. But here's the thing.

Speaker 4 (39:23):
You don't if you're Caleb Williams, you don't have to
let this define who you are. You've got drafted by
a bad franchise. So you either pull yourself up by
your bootstraps and you play better football with a team
with renewed confidence next year. Or I mean, to be
perfectly honest with you, if i'm this staff, bench them.

Speaker 3 (39:43):
Well, how many times have we seen this number one
overall pick quarterback?

Speaker 5 (39:46):
Right?

Speaker 3 (39:46):
Remember Alex Smith San Francisco, when you have five offensive
coordinators in five years.

Speaker 2 (39:51):
Then he had the Baker Mayfield situation.

Speaker 3 (39:53):
In Cleveland where they were constantly, you know, revolving to
our coaches.

Speaker 2 (39:57):
You got to get it right if you're the Bears.
But that's problem. That's why the Bears haven't been successful.
They can't seem to get a right. We do. This
is red zone radio tack.

Speaker 7 (40:06):
It takes the snap, he thinks he gets it off
to Parkley.

Speaker 2 (40:10):
Parkley makes three men miss.

Speaker 7 (40:11):
He's at the fifty, he's at the forty, he's at
the thirty. He is going all the way save one
Barkley sixty eight yards. He's he amazing, He's he amazing,
he is what out amazing?

Speaker 2 (40:28):
That's ninety four WIP Eagles Radio Network.

Speaker 3 (40:32):
Yeah, he's amazing and the Eagles are loving it. They
lead the Commanders by a score of twenty one two seven.
This is Red Zone Radio. We're broadcasting live from the
tire rag dot com studios.

Speaker 2 (40:43):
Tyre rag dot com.

Speaker 3 (40:44):
We're gonna help get you there and on matt Selection
fast free shipping, free road as a protection over ten
thousand recommended installers, tire rag dot com the way tire
buying should be. Hey, we got a big game coming
up between the Vikings and the Seahawks. Joining is right
now simply one of our favorite people on the planet,
that is the legend himself, the great Mark Sanchez. Hey, Mark,

(41:06):
we were talking a little bit earlier about this Vikings
team and how they don't miss Kirk Cousins because your
fellow Trojan obviously has been doing a phenomenal job there
at quarterback. Talk about how we have found this Vikings
team to be sitting here at twelve and two at
this time of the season.

Speaker 13 (41:26):
Well, thanks for leveling me up to legendary status. I
appreciate that, but listen, Sam is playing incredible and a
lot of that I think a lot of that is
from Kevin O'Connell taking stuff off his plate in a
way where he can just play and he's not worried
about any other distractions like he has maybe at some

(41:46):
other organizations he's been in. There's no other mess to
deal with. He's got a clear head and you can
see it on the field, especially these last few games.
He's really taking care of the football and he knows
his process when he to the line of scrimmage is
how are they going to play justin Jefferson and then
how do I get my other guys involved, whether it's
Addison Hawkinson or even Aaron Jones in the past game.

(42:09):
So you can tell his process has been simplified, it's streamlined,
and there's great communication between him and the headman, the
guy who's calling the plays, Kevin O'Connell.

Speaker 4 (42:19):
And then you look at the other side of this
QB matchup, Gino Smith, a little banged up from last
week going against a blitz heavy Vikings defense. How do
you think Seattle's going to fare offensively?

Speaker 5 (42:30):
Yeah?

Speaker 13 (42:30):
I think most importantly when you play these exotic defenses.
I've had experience against it, you know, playing against Rex
ryand my rookie training camp. I mean that was one
of the worst experiences of my life my rookie year,
because everybody lines up in different positions than they show
on their roster. So in some ways, when you attack
a defense like this, you want to take the first open,

(42:51):
easiest throw you possibly can. I know it sounds simple,
but you really got to try and try and do that.
Number one and then number two is not get caught
up in all the numbers on defense. And I don't
mean stats, I mean jersey numbers. You've got to basically
put x's on those players and just find the structure.
How many guys are on the line scrimmage, how many
guys are at the second and third level, and what

(43:12):
is their demeanor, what kind of footwork do they have?
Where are their eyes? And that will kind of give
you at least a good starting point because if you
try and find mattel If number forty four and then
try and figure out, you know, is Van Ginkel an
edge rusher, is the a linebacker? Is he an interior
rusher or is he a nickelback? You're going to be
sunk and it takes too long to try and figure

(43:32):
it all out. Also, the final thing is you better
have an answer for pressure. They pressure a ton, but
you have to remember their pressures are really built for
stopping the run because they can get exposed in the
past game, which they have during the season when teams
have play actions on on first and second down and
they bring one of those run pressures expecting to stop

(43:52):
your run. I mean they are exposed. There's three deep
defenders and two underneath defenders, only five guys for your
five guys in the route, and they're all zone everything.
You can attack them in some of those pressures. So
they've gotten caught this year. But you know, it looks wet,
looks rainy, and Gino's going to have to use his legs,
so we'll see how that needs holding up.

Speaker 2 (44:11):
All right, Mark, very quickly, final question. I introduce you
as a legend.

Speaker 3 (44:15):
You know, I love you, man, but part of that
is you won four road playoff games in your first
two years as an NFL quarterback. You're the only guy
I know that's done that. I don't even have to
look up that staff. But that brings me back to
Sam Darnell, You, fellow Trojan, there's one thing about executing
during the regular season, there's another to do it in
the postseason. What advice would you have for Sam as

(44:36):
the Vikings do get ready for the postseason playing at
his best level as you did your first two years.

Speaker 2 (44:42):
In the NFL.

Speaker 13 (44:43):
Well, you're exactly right. There's a heightened sense of awareness.
It's a winner go home type mentality and atmosphere, so
there's a lot more pressure. I think a lot of
it too for him. I mean, they're gunning for that
number one spot. They might have home field throughout the
playoffs that they take business which is huge. So I
can't really help him with advice there because my only

(45:04):
playoff games were on the road. But we had a
guy named Tom Brady in our division. You might have
heard of him, and they won the division every year.
So it's tough for us to get a home game.
But I think the most important thing when you get
into that time of year, any kind of playoff situation,
you got to go back to your fundamentals. And I
just remember writing on my wristband that I would look

(45:27):
at plays for when when the coordinator would call certain
plays off the wristband.

Speaker 2 (45:31):
You know.

Speaker 13 (45:31):
Number one was ball security. And if I had great
seat and great eyes, I made great decisions. Everything was
going to work out. And occasionally in those big time games,
sure you're gonna have to make a play, but you
got to get yourself out of bad place. If you
can just eliminate some of those bad plays, almost like golf,
if I can eliminate three of those myth putts, you know,
during an eighteen you know whole you know round of golf,

(45:55):
if I could just eliminate three of those bad plays,
get us out of bad plays. And that might mean
just fall down, take a sack. That might mean throw
it in the seventh row and give some fan a
souvenir for the game. That's okay, because if you can
play that long game, if you can win that war
of attrition in those playoff games, a lot of times
you come out on top.

Speaker 3 (46:12):
Mark, we always appreciate it. We're gonna be watching big
game for both these teams. Vikings on the road against
the Seahawks. Until next time, Mark, all the best. Merry Christmas,
and we'll talk to you in twenty twenty five.

Speaker 13 (46:24):
Mary, Christmas, guys, thanks for having me.

Speaker 3 (46:25):
That's Mark Sanchez joining us right there, big game for
obviously both these teams. As he mentioned, you know, the
Vikings are tied with the Lions and Eagles at twelve
and two, so they're definitely in the mix for the
number one overall seed.

Speaker 2 (46:36):
And of course Seahawks right now lose on the tie
break to the.

Speaker 3 (46:40):
Rams in the NFC West, but they need they need
Gino Smith, by the way, on the year, fourteen touchdowns,
thirteen picks, way too many mistakes. You can't do that against,
by the way, a very opportunistic Vikings defense.

Speaker 2 (46:53):
Vikings defense that loves to blitz.

Speaker 4 (46:55):
They have the highest blitz rate in the NFL, Geno Smith,
who's lay with the knee injury, Plus the Vikings are
tied for the fourth most sacks in the NFL this
season with forty two. It's going to be one of
those games where if Gino can find a way to
navigate the elements, like you heard from Mark Sanchez, they're
gonna be a wet one in Seattle. Very difficult when

(47:17):
you're laboring with a knee injury. If you can get
Seattle out of some of those bad situations against the blitz,
and Gino's a pretty good quarterback against the Blitz this season. Man,
this could be a long one for the Vikings on
the road.

Speaker 2 (47:30):
Bears trying to get on the board.

Speaker 3 (47:31):
Down twenty nothing to the Lions right now, we got
eight minutes to go in the first half and the
Bears have a first and goal at the six yard line.

Speaker 2 (47:42):
Caleb Williams has thrown the ball well today.

Speaker 3 (47:45):
I mean, you know when we talk about sort of
like that infactor, like do you look like you belong?

Speaker 2 (47:52):
Caleb Williams does.

Speaker 3 (47:54):
He's not used to losing, obviously, He's never had losing
at this level. Again, this is a team now what
on an eight game losing streak, which is just unthinkable
for this Bears team that started four and two, But
even today, ten to seventeen, one hundred and twenty seven yards,
it's a clean slid. He hasn't thrown an interception, so
he seems to be holding it together. And if anything,

(48:16):
this season could turn out to be a character builder
for Caleb Williams moving forward.

Speaker 4 (48:22):
I think so it could look it could work in
his favorite could work against him. If losing is so
debilitating for Caleb Williams, he probably needs to get the
taste of losing so that it can be less so
now you always want to hate losing.

Speaker 2 (48:37):
You don't want a quarterback because Sakman was zero and
eleven his first year as a quarterback with the Cowboys.

Speaker 4 (48:42):
Look up Peyton Mannings first season. It was terrible three
and thirteen terrible season for Peyton Manning, and then he
recovered well in year two. Obviously, both of those quarterbacks
we just mentioned are Hall of famers.

Speaker 2 (48:54):
Both number one overall picks. Just like Caleb Williams, if
it's possible to weather the storm, which I think it's
possible with his makeup, then he could be stronger for it. Certainly.

Speaker 4 (49:04):
On the other side, he just cannot become dispar disparited
with the outcomes of the season. As he throws a
rollout pass to his non throwing side to Cole Commet
his tight end, the Notre Damer, who I'm sure was
thrilled with this weekend's events in the CFP over Indiana,
he gets in the zone for the Chicago Bears first

(49:25):
score of the day.

Speaker 3 (49:26):
All right, and Michael Pennix as the Falcons leading the
Giants tend to seven right now and they are in
scoring position once again. So far decent numbers for penis
seven to thirteen eighty six yards.

Speaker 2 (49:39):
Of course it is against the Giants. Does it even count?
All right?

Speaker 3 (49:42):
Two minute warning in this game and the Falcons are
at the Giants seven yard line. By the way, you
mentioned what we saw over the weekend as far as
the first round of the college football playoffs, I am
not surprised. I don't know why some of the b
all they're awful games. Home field means a lot in

(50:02):
college football, and the teams that were at home got
off to fast starts in every one of these games,
and they were non contests. I said all along, this
is not going to be about the first round. It's
going to be that second round where, by the way,
the four teams Oregon, Georgia, Boise State, and Arizona State
are going to be off for twenty five days playing

(50:23):
a team that's been played within eleven days on a
neutral field.

Speaker 2 (50:29):
Get ready. If those four games could be upset city.

Speaker 8 (50:33):
It's a small sample size, but nevertheless, depend according to
reports I had heard out of the shoe in Ohio
at Ohio State, Tennessee last night the old line and
on a day, by the way, where SEC honks were
chanting NonStop. They should have had more teams in the playoffs. Sure,
I feel like the big ten honks got proven right

(50:55):
in what would happen if those Southern teams all came
up and played in the North in it late in
the year because Tennessee was cold.

Speaker 3 (51:04):
Tennessee was cold, I mean, and all those people still
scream about Alabama or South Carolina.

Speaker 2 (51:10):
Forget it, man.

Speaker 3 (51:11):
The one thing, and I know Rich is a big
proponent of an expanded playoff, A rich based on what
we saw in this first round twelve scenes enough to me.

Speaker 2 (51:19):
I don't care. I don't care. Hey, guess what.

Speaker 4 (51:22):
The opening round of March Madness kind of sucks too
because you have one facing sixteens, right, this is what
it should look like, though, because every once in a
while one of those sixteens gets an upset.

Speaker 3 (51:33):
But those are all on neutral courts. Yes, what about
the home field? Do you think they should continue with
first round where the better seed plays at home?

Speaker 2 (51:42):
Absolutely, because this is college football.

Speaker 4 (51:44):
I love the pomping circumstance of home games before you
reach a certain round.

Speaker 3 (51:48):
Opening of that Notre Dame game was dynamic, It was fantastic.

Speaker 6 (51:52):
I think both the first two rounds should have home games.
I agree the team with the buy should not get
a home game. That stinks, buddy.

Speaker 4 (51:58):
I think they should expand to sixteen. I think these
the round of sixteen, the round of eight should be
on home fields. And then when you whittle the field
from there, then we start going to neutral side Bowl games.

Speaker 2 (52:10):
That's the way I think.

Speaker 4 (52:10):
And by the way, you could you could tie in
corporate sponsors to all those games, you know.

Speaker 8 (52:15):
I mean, it just feels like the rest of the
Bowl committee is not I mean, the rest of the
Bulls who were originally involved with this weren't happy with
the idea of being rotated. Yeah, they've got this set
up so all because like they know how irrelevant they're
making the rest of the bull season.

Speaker 3 (52:28):
Here's the problem with these Bowl games. Guys are entering
the transfer portal of the city out. That's see, that's that's
a that's an impounding problem in USC. Half their teams
out for this game against A and M because they're
in the transfer portal.

Speaker 2 (52:39):
Did you see this?

Speaker 8 (52:39):
This came out after I believe Penn State smoked SMU.
SMU starting quarterback Kevin Jennings through two three picks three picks,
two of them went for six. However, they had another quarterback.
Immediately after the game, it comes out that he's entering
the transfer portal to go to Northwestern, and there is
some speculation about whether or not he wanted to come

(53:02):
into the game even though Kevin Jennings through three picks.

Speaker 2 (53:05):
Well, you have teams getting ready for these that's a
play games, that's a playoff.

Speaker 3 (53:08):
Literally, are have rosters gutted because they have twenty players
in a transfer portal.

Speaker 4 (53:15):
Listen, they have a lot to fix, but I think
one of the things they need to fix is the
fact that the postseason should be expanded. So you could
have a lot of these teams who think that they
have a case shut their mouths. Like so, if you
have a sixteen team playoff, more of those SEC teams
would have played road games and guess what they would
have gotten stopped?

Speaker 3 (53:36):
Yeah, they would have gotten stopped and stay looking good
right now, richest dreaming of a national championship.

Speaker 6 (53:42):
All right, Yes, bo I think you need to recede too,
because if you look at the path, Penn State might
really just waltz. At least we're going in Ohio State,
Texas yeah, Texas gets Arizona State.

Speaker 3 (53:55):
I'm sorry, how many big games has James Franklin won
in the course of his career?

Speaker 2 (53:59):
Penn State? Oh what?

Speaker 10 (54:00):
Now?

Speaker 5 (54:01):
What are you talking about? That game yesterday as a
playoff against who? Big game Jans against s MU at home.
Come on, get out of here.

Speaker 4 (54:14):
Everybody knows the Stangs are really good in the northeastularly
forget that.

Speaker 2 (54:18):
You should say, wait winning any big game coming up? Believe?

Speaker 3 (54:22):
All right, yeah, all right, we continue on here as
we're heading toward halftime of seven games around the NFL.

Speaker 2 (54:29):
This is Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 11 (54:31):
Here's the stat Eagles big four free lusher coming. Jagel's
lopping up torch for clord. He's open old talk, tuck
yut tuckyun watch again?

Speaker 10 (54:40):
Want to throw Daniels to the clord?

Speaker 2 (54:43):
Oh my goodness, what's that? Terrible coda? Isn't just n
that test? That's big one? Hunter Washing Commanders Radio Network.

Speaker 3 (54:53):
A game that was well, at least of the seven
games that kicked off this morning, this was the game
of the day. Eagles on the road the Commanders. It
has lived up to the hype. Eagles lead this one
twenty one two fourteen and the Eagles have just punted
the ball back to the Commanders, So about five minutes
left in the first half, Commanders have the ball trailing
twenty one to fourteen. By the way, Jade and Daniels

(55:15):
seven to thirteen, one hundred and six yards and two touchdowns.
Big story in this game sakwon Barkley at a sixty
eight yard touchdown run. He already has one hundred and
sixteen yards and two touchdowns, and as I mentioned, he
started the day averaging about one hundred and forty yards
over the last three games per game to sneak up
on that all time single season rushing record of Eric Dickerson,

(55:39):
and big first half certainly keeps him in the mix
there halftime Right now, the Jets are leading the Rams
nine to six. It's not five field goals. Both teams
scored touchdowns, and both teams missed the extra point. Jets
out of the field goal take a nine to six league.
Cardinals are trailing the Panthers twenty to ten three seconds

(56:00):
ago in the first half, and they're at the Carolina
six yard line. And really the ongoing story here, by
the way, James Conners had a huge first half. He
had a forty yard run one hundred and eleven yards
on the ground for him Brightce Young doesn't have impressive
numbers in this game.

Speaker 2 (56:16):
However, he did have a big touchdown run.

Speaker 3 (56:19):
But I think at the very least for the Panthers,
the way he has played down the stretch gives them
hope that they did not completely strike out with that
number one overall pick with Bryce Young, depending again on
the direction of the team started trying to hold it together,
not having a you know, clear out of coaching staff,

(56:40):
stay with the game plan, give this kid a chance
to develop.

Speaker 2 (56:44):
I know you and I are both believers in Bryce Young,
and he has shown not just the fact that you know.

Speaker 3 (56:49):
He's played better statistically, but he seems to have that
confidence back that we saw that led him to win
a Heisman Trophy at Alabama.

Speaker 2 (56:58):
I'm making sold to injury worse.

Speaker 4 (57:02):
I'm on rass Saint Brown just got in the end
zone for the Detroit Lions on a quick screen pass
out to the slot. So they're just piling on in
Chicago right now. Bears not finding much much good in
this and the Detroit Lions are finding the end zone often.

Speaker 3 (57:18):
By the way, Jared Goff is thirteen of sixteen, two
hundred and thirty yards, two touchdowns, dot picks. That, by
the way, is a perfect passer rating. He's been there before. Yes, yes,
so right now one fifty eight point three. That is
a perfect passer rating. First half for Jared Goff.

Speaker 4 (57:35):
Extra point is good. The score is twenty seven to
seven in Chicago, Lions over Bears.

Speaker 2 (57:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (57:40):
But getting back to what you're saying, I do believe
that quarterbacks do not get the fairest of shakes in
the NFL anymore.

Speaker 2 (57:47):
And it's it's not great.

Speaker 4 (57:49):
It's not great, especially for a quarterback who showed you
some great things at the college level. But oftentimes what
we see in this is no different with Bryce Young
is a quarterback gets drafted by a strugg franchise. That
franchise makes bad decisions with personnel, with coaches, with staff,
and it takes some time for a quarterback to acclimate

(58:11):
to this level. It doesn't matter if you're Jaden Daniels
who's having an excellent rookie year with the Commanders, or
if you're a guy like you know, Mark Sanchez, for example,
who figured out in the postseason the first couple of
years of his career, but you know, struggled along throughout
certain portions of his of his career later on because
he's with the Jets, and the Jets the Jets are

(58:33):
the Jets, and right now, guess what the Panthers are
the Panthers. This isn't a great situation, but I'm not
giving up on Bryce Young yet.

Speaker 2 (58:42):
The Colts lead.

Speaker 3 (58:43):
Big over the Titans twenty four to seven. By the way,
Jonathan Taylor in this game had a sixty five yard
touchdown run.

Speaker 2 (58:49):
He as well of our hundred yards rushing in the
first half.

Speaker 3 (58:52):
We're talking earlier about the Chargers and the Broncos, both
teams still in the driver's seat to make the postseason.

Speaker 2 (58:58):
But if there's a team that could be shaky, it
is the Broncos.

Speaker 3 (59:04):
They play at the Bengals next week, and then they
have the Chiefs at home, and if you look at Indianapolis,
if they beat the Titans today, their last two games
are at the Giants and.

Speaker 2 (59:16):
The Jaguars at home.

Speaker 3 (59:18):
So you know, my bold prediction of the Broncos making
the postseason, even though statistically it still looks pretty good
for them, is far from easy. I mean, going to
Cincinnati next week, that's gonna be rough for the Broncos.
And then again the last game against the Chiefs. It's
hard to gauge because if the Chiefs have clinched the

(59:39):
number one overall seed, do they set everybody? Do they
take that week off? You know, that's always the big
question mark because obviously they would also have a.

Speaker 2 (59:47):
Bye the following week. So it's not done yet.

Speaker 3 (59:51):
And as far as the Chargers are looking good, they
have a ninety seven percent chance of making the postseason.

Speaker 2 (59:56):
Broncos are on the bubble, and the Colts can make
it interesting.

Speaker 4 (59:59):
Yeah, and to Denver's credit, I think this is a
better season than a lot of people predicted, especially with
all the issues with Russell Wilson a year ago and
then knowing that it's a drafted rookie. In Sean Payton's
opening salva with the Broncos, wasn't all that great?

Speaker 2 (01:00:13):
Only person that picked him so be a playoff? I
look at they're ahead of schedule. Yeah, I just I
mean the same feeling I have for the Chargers.

Speaker 4 (01:00:22):
In Jim Harbaugh, I have the same feelings for the Broncos,
maybe even more so because look, the Chargers still need
to figure out how to protect Justin Herbert. That guy
is not going to have a very long career if
he keeps getting banged up. They've made they've made it
known that they're going to invest in his future. They

(01:00:42):
drafted Joe Walt, They have Slater on the other side
bookending at tackle. They got to get stronger up the
middle of that pocket. They need to do better job
of keeping this guy on the field. Justin Herbert has
been savaged this season. You look at the Broncos less
of an issue there with a more mobile Bonnicks, a
younger Bonnicks, a Hall of Fame coach, in my opinion,
Sean Payton, who's got this team humming. I If this

(01:01:05):
season ends outside the postseason looking in for the Broncos
and they have a quality record, I think that's that's
better than I would have predicted for them in the preseason.

Speaker 2 (01:01:15):
So they're they're right there. They're right there where they
need to be in a building year. All right, let's
find out what's trending right now.

Speaker 3 (01:01:21):
As I mentioned, with her Chargers ninety seven chance of
making it into the postseason, how many people had the dogs?
Did you know a few people that were totally buying
into Yeah, Jim Harbaugh can turn this team around in
one year with no receivers, no tied end, no running back.

Speaker 2 (01:01:41):
They can do it. You believed in him, and again,
phenomenal coaching job by Jim Harbaugh.

Speaker 9 (01:01:46):
Yeah, I mean, good job on me for putting the
Chargers in there, But I also took out the Bills, so.

Speaker 2 (01:01:52):
I don't know how good I did.

Speaker 9 (01:01:54):
Yeah, you didn't have the Bills of the Bills in
the postseason and put the Chargers in, so you know
you went submylus. The Eagles, though, are trying to win
eleven in a row. If you haven't heard its official,
Jayalen Hurts is out for the rest of the game
because of a concussion, so Kenny Pickett.

Speaker 2 (01:02:08):
Is who we're going to see right now.

Speaker 9 (01:02:10):
The Eagles are beating the Commander Zoe twenty one fourteen
with about two and a half.

Speaker 2 (01:02:14):
Minutes to go in the first half.

Speaker 9 (01:02:16):
At halftime, the Panthers are on top of the Cardinals,
but the Cardinals did score Kyler Murray connecting with DJ
Dallas in the end zone.

Speaker 2 (01:02:23):
Carolina on top twenty seventeen. They just got going in the.

Speaker 9 (01:02:27):
Third quarter in New York with the Jets on top
of the Rams and nine to six Aaron Rodgers fifteen
of twenty one, one hundred and forty nine yards and
one touchdown. The Colts have added some more points. They're
on top of the Titans at the half twenty four
to seven. Mason Rudolph ten of sixteen, one hundred and
eleven yards and a touchdown, But Jonathan Taylor for the
Colts fifteen carries one hundred and nineteen yards.

Speaker 2 (01:02:46):
And a touchdown.

Speaker 9 (01:02:47):
The Bengals just on top of the Brown seventeen zero
at the half. Joe Burrow sixteen of twenty one, one
hundred and forty nine yards and two touchdowns, and it
looks like Caleb Williams is just connected with Keenan Allen for.

Speaker 2 (01:02:58):
A forty five yard touchdown pass.

Speaker 9 (01:03:00):
But the Lions are beating the Bears twenty seven fourteen,
less than one minute to go in the first half
of that one. The Falcons are beating the Giants by
Jon Robinson got in the end zone for Atlanta. It's
seventeen to seven again at the half. Michael Pennix Junior
for his debut so far at nine of sixteen, one
hundred and ten yards and an interception. Other news in

(01:03:20):
the NFL, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens. He's missed
the last three games because of a hamstring injury. Mike
Tomlin said today there's a real chance that he could
play Wednesday against the Chiefs, So we might see George
Pickens again. And the Saints taking on green Bay right
on Monday night. So they took in Spencer Rattler and
all of the quarterbacks just so you guys know how

(01:03:41):
they're preparing for the colt. They took them into the
walking freezer and the team's cafeteria to run through plays. Aw,
that's how they were running through plays to prepare for
green Bay.

Speaker 3 (01:03:51):
All rights, A really good question, min Sieah, because obviously
Rich has played in the NFL under extreme weather conditions, right,
and we've asked this many times, like if you have
extreme what's the worst extreme cold, extreme heat, extreme win,
extreme rain, or extreme snow. What is the most challenging

(01:04:13):
of those extreme snow, extreme rain, extreme win, extreme heat,
extreme cold?

Speaker 2 (01:04:19):
All right, I'll list them in order. So extreme wind
is the worst.

Speaker 4 (01:04:25):
It affects the most aspects of the game, the kicking game,
the passing game.

Speaker 2 (01:04:29):
So wind is first.

Speaker 4 (01:04:31):
Second is the rain, if it's so wet that you
can't handle the football. I mean, that's the whole game.
The game is the football, so that that would be
number two. And then for me, this is where it
starts to get a little bit of subjective. I would
say in third place, there is no escaping the heat.

(01:04:51):
So when it's extremely hot, like you can't get colder,
like you're just I mean, you're just stuck. So you
get ivs in the the tunnel or at halftime, or
you can I mean, I suppose you could get them
on the sideline to try to increase your hydration. I mean,
you can try to drink as much gatorade, but there's
no escaping in the heat. Then I would say it's

(01:05:12):
the cold.

Speaker 2 (01:05:13):
Extreme cold comes in fourth place, and then after that,
snow is the easiest to play it. Snow's fun, yeah,
I mean it's kind of fun.

Speaker 10 (01:05:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:05:21):
I mean, everybody's struggling a little bit to keep their footing,
but usually ball handling isn't that big of a problem. Yees,
Snow's okay, it's just all those other extremes are are
pretty difficult for And trust me when I tell you,
like I put, I put extreme cold in fourth place.

Speaker 2 (01:05:38):
But I can't tell you how uncomfortable it is when
you're on the sideline and you can't warm up. Well,
here's the problem, halftime.

Speaker 3 (01:05:45):
Yeah, so it's sort of like when you jump out
of the pool and you dry off, and then when
you jump back in, the pool is twice as cold
as it was before. So when you come out after
warming up at halftime, doesn't it seem even colder.

Speaker 4 (01:05:58):
When you come back out well, And also it's later
in the evening, the temperature usually drops more on the
other side of halftime, Like, it's the worst. So your
your fingers as an offensive lineman the position I played,
when they feel like they're made of glass, and then
the ball is snapped and you have to throw your
hands out a defensive lineman and you hit their face masks,

(01:06:19):
the frozen metal of their face mask. It literally feels
like your bones are gonna shatter inside the skin.

Speaker 2 (01:06:25):
It's the worst. And then this is a crazy part
of it.

Speaker 4 (01:06:28):
A lot of people don't think about, but when you
go to the locker room after the game and you
turn on the hot water to take your shower, oh yeah,
it feels like razor blades are cutting your skin off
because your your skin has been so cold for so long,
you've numbed all of your nerve.

Speaker 2 (01:06:43):
And it's amazing to me that there aren't more cases
of frostbite. Yeah, that's probably it really is to have
been it.

Speaker 3 (01:06:49):
I always will never forget the Ice Bowl, the famous
nineteen sixty seven championship game between.

Speaker 2 (01:06:54):
Lombardi's Packers and the Cowboys. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:06:56):
Bob Hayes, the Hall of Fame receiver of the Cowboys,
was running patterns with this hand in his pants. What
to make it very difficult to actually catch the ball.
He basically was running with his hand down. And they
didn't have, obviously the measures to try to keep you warm.
But it was negative. The temperature was negative thirteen the
wind chill, who knows the actual temperature.

Speaker 4 (01:07:17):
The field was rock solid place the coldest game ever
played in not get frosted. My senior year at Penn State.
We were an undefeated Penn State team. We go on
the road to play against Iowa Hawkeys Kinnick Stadium. This
is two thousand and eight. The Hawkeyes got the w
over us because Joe Paterna wouldn't allow us to have
heaters on the sideline. All we were allowed to have

(01:07:38):
was we didn't have the heated benches. We're looking across
what was Joe Paul Waring? He was wearing a cloak,
just like the rest of us.

Speaker 2 (01:07:45):
We looked like the nineteen seventies Penn State team, the
one that I mean, it was unbelievable. Were like, Joe,
why can't we have heaters? He was like, it's a distraction. Distraction.
Where was John Capilletti when you needed it? We needed?

Speaker 4 (01:07:59):
Yeah, we needed we need some help. But yeah, anyways,
so we lose this game, so we're a one lost
Penn State team. Yeah, we go on the road, we
face the Hoosiers. It was a mild Saturday. We beat
the Brakes off the Hoosiers. We have a snow game
against Michigan State, our final game of the season, and
we have all the heaters. We have heaters, we have

(01:08:21):
heated benches, we have helmet warmers, we got we have
I mean, it was the warmest sideline I've ever played
on it in the my time.

Speaker 2 (01:08:27):
It was my last game at Penn State and we
had all the heaters.

Speaker 3 (01:08:30):
Finally, by the way, it is not a perfect passer
rating for Jared goff going into halftime. He's actually thrown
a couple of incompletions sixteen to twenty one, two hundred
and fifty four yards, two touchdowns, no picks.

Speaker 2 (01:08:44):
But the Bears did get a score.

Speaker 3 (01:08:46):
And if you look at Caleb Williams, he's got pretty
good numbers in that first half against the Lions thirteen
to twenty one, one eight, two touchdowns and a pick.
That's a passer ratio about one twenty five. Let me
ask you right now, Rich, when you look at the
Lions and you look at the Eagles, when you look
at the Vikings all coming into this week twelve and two, Yeah,

(01:09:06):
give me the one two three Power rankings of those
two three teams, so that you got the Lions, you
got the Eagles, you got the Vikings.

Speaker 2 (01:09:13):
I would still put the Lions at the top. But
the Lions have underwent a complete roster gentrification.

Speaker 4 (01:09:21):
So that's the wrong word, a meltdown, because they've had
so many injuries, and I feel terrible for the Lions triage.

Speaker 2 (01:09:28):
Yeah, it's been it. Honestly, it's felt like the emergency tent,
Like what is Montgomery's eta?

Speaker 8 (01:09:34):
No, He's not gonna be no, so he got a
third opinion he might come back for the playoffs now,
which would be insane. It's a little bit of hope,
kind of like the But to your point, it seems
like every week since Aiden Hutchinson broke his leg against
the Cowboys, there has been a new key defensive contribute.
The Lions got away with some luck last year being healthy.
Hold on the sixty five yard field goal attempt by.

Speaker 2 (01:09:56):
The Lions is just no outside. Yeah, So that's the half.
Twenty seven to fourteen Lions. I put them on top.

Speaker 4 (01:10:03):
I would say in second place, and I mean this
is the tightest of races. It's gonna be the Eagles,
the Vikings right behind them, though. I mean the distance
between second and third place right now, especially now with
the new information we have Jalen Hurts not in the game,
Kenny Pickett replacing him because Hertz has an apparent head injury.

(01:10:25):
He got drove into the turf in the first quarter.
He's left the game, hasn't returned since. As a matter
of fact, the Eagles facing a fourth and four, Kenny
Pickett finds his receiver and that is good for a
first down. So they're gonna say, yeah, it was that
DeVante Smith who caught that. They're gonna say, that's good
for a first down. So the Eagles, who lead twenty

(01:10:45):
one to fourteen against the Commanders on the road here
getting it done with Kenny Pickett. But yeah, that's gonna
be a challenge depending on how long Jalen Hurts is
out for it, depending on how this affects him down
the stretch and into the postseason.

Speaker 3 (01:10:58):
No, we talk about the Vikings and Sam Darnold obviously
getting in a lot of ink.

Speaker 2 (01:11:02):
But how about Aaron Jones. Aaron Jones, I mean you
you know all.

Speaker 3 (01:11:06):
Those great years he had in Green Bay, thirty years old,
he's done, right, a thirty year old.

Speaker 2 (01:11:10):
Running back, he's done.

Speaker 3 (01:11:11):
He's had a huge year for the Vikings, Gonna end
up with well over one thousand yards rushing.

Speaker 2 (01:11:17):
He's one of those guys.

Speaker 3 (01:11:18):
I'm not so sure the Vikings aren't the best team
right now when we talk about their defense, and then
you've got arguably one of the top two to three
receivers in the league.

Speaker 2 (01:11:28):
The only thing that's holding us back is can Sam
Donald hold off? And he continue on, Yeah, that is it.

Speaker 4 (01:11:34):
So the only reason why the Vikings are in third place.
Jalen Hurts is a super Bowl quarterback. Correct, Jared Goff
is a super Bowl quarterback? Yes, I mean Sam Donald
is a guy who literally was backing up a JJ
McCarthy on a new team for what the third He.

Speaker 2 (01:11:53):
Was riding the bench with the forty nine ers for
the entire year.

Speaker 4 (01:11:56):
Last year he was playing behind you know, mister Rell,
him brock Party in his second season, who, by the way,
brock Party is another guy who super Bowl cordback. You look,
you look at Sam Donald's career and you say, okay,
what was the good? The good is he's got a
great arm. He could throw every pass he asked him
a throw. The other good about it is Sam Donald's

(01:12:17):
sneaky mobile, like he could do things with his legs
out There.

Speaker 3 (01:12:20):
Was the reason why a lot of people thought in
twenty seventeen it was going to be him and not Baker.

Speaker 2 (01:12:24):
Mayfield's a number one overall pick.

Speaker 6 (01:12:26):
Do you guys think the Jets maybe could have acquired
guys with better Madden ratings to help him out?

Speaker 2 (01:12:30):
While he now the Jets Jets are a disaster quarterback.

Speaker 8 (01:12:33):
Now you're thinking to your new Jets general manager, Brick
Johnson That's the thing with Sam Donald's career is he's
only what twenty six, He's very young, and he's been
on the Jets, the Panthers, and the Niners and guys.

Speaker 3 (01:12:49):
Jonathan Taylor, who had a sixty five yard touchdow run,
just had another touchdown run seventy yards.

Speaker 9 (01:12:55):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (01:12:56):
He now has sixteen carries for one hundred and eighty
nine yards two touchdowns. That was the first play of
the second half as the Colts are blowing out the Titans.
We talked earlier about two ninety six, which is the
single game rushing record held by Adrian Peterson. His rookiear
with the Vikings Jonathan Taylor eighteen seconds into the second
half as one hundred and eighty nine yards.

Speaker 2 (01:13:18):
Right the day.

Speaker 8 (01:13:18):
I really wanted a Jonathan Taylor revival, as I am
in the fantasy playoffs against him.

Speaker 2 (01:13:22):
But that's a little rough. He is rolling up numbers
like a ridiculous today.

Speaker 5 (01:13:27):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (01:13:28):
But back to the NFC, the top of the NFC.
I just have more trust in herts and golf than
I do Donald. And that's that's no shade on Donald.
I think point well, taking bo the places he's played
had an impact. I think the best coach he's played
for before Kevin O'Connell was Kyle Shanahan. I think a
lot got done with him in terms of learning the game.

(01:13:49):
I think Kevin O'Connell's an incredible coach. I think he's
done great things with the quarterbacks that he's coached, including
Sam Darnald. So I'm a big fan of what the
Vikings have done and what they will do. And so
they're close. They're right behind the Philadelphia Eagles, and I
mean right behind them all right.

Speaker 3 (01:14:06):
On the other side, we have second halves getting underway
around the National Football League, seven games right now.

Speaker 2 (01:14:12):
Also preview all the games coming up. This is red
Zone Radio.

Speaker 14 (01:14:15):
First out of ten, forty five yard line Lions territory,
Bears and Kata Williams are right to left. Snap is
back to its strong rush up front, picked up, they
throw the right side, putting away at the twenty to
the fifteen to ten of the end zone touchdown caenan.

Speaker 2 (01:14:29):
Allen touchdown Bears forty five yard strike had some Bears
radio network.

Speaker 3 (01:14:35):
It is halftime, Bears trailing the Lions by a score
of twenty seven to fourteen.

Speaker 2 (01:14:40):
This is Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 3 (01:14:41):
Steve Harbin rich Ormberger with you live from the tire
rack dot Com studios.

Speaker 2 (01:14:45):
All right, let's update you on the scoreboard right now.

Speaker 3 (01:14:47):
Falcons with Michael Pennix making his debut at starting quarterback
easily in front of the hapless Giants, twenty four to seven.
Falcons lead the Giants just start of the second half.
There we got the Bengals leading the Browns seventeen to nothing.
Joe Burrow a couple of touchdown passes. Seven minutes to
go in the third dimension, the Coles thirty one to
seven over the Titans as Jonathan Taylor one hundred and

(01:15:10):
eighty nine yards touchdown runs of sixty five and seventy.
Look out there, Rams and Jets third, only three minutes
to go in the third quarter. There must have been
an accelerated time because this game is like nine minutes
ahead of every other game.

Speaker 2 (01:15:24):
At this point, Rams trail nine to six. The Rams
have the ball right now. It's just absolutely freezing at
MetLife over there. Commanders and the.

Speaker 3 (01:15:34):
Eagles Legals lead twenty one to fourteen at the half.
Do we have an update on the Jalen Hurts situation?

Speaker 2 (01:15:41):
Still out with the game. He's going to be out
for the game. He's ruled out for the game.

Speaker 3 (01:15:44):
He is ruled out for the game winning Kenny Pickett,
We'll have to lead the Eagles for the reck of
the rest of the second half, and a big game
for the Cardinals trying to stay alive in the playoff chase.
They trail the Panthers twenty to seventeen, and once again
the Panthers are driving. In fact, they have a third
for right now at the Arizona eleven yard and nine
nine and a half minutes to go.

Speaker 8 (01:16:05):
Is this a backbreaker game if they lose? I mean,
they're probably on the playoffs at that point. But like, yeah,
at the Cardos for them to go from leading the
division to losing to the Panthers.

Speaker 2 (01:16:13):
With did anyone really buy into the Cardinals though? I mean,
I mean, here's one thing I wanted to observe. So
again we're talking about the Rams right now trailing the
Jets nine to six. I've been watching Aaron Rodgers in
this game. Rich by the way, again, it is freezing
conditions there in New York or in New Jersey.

Speaker 3 (01:16:30):
Aaron Rodgers is twenty to twenty eight, two three yards
in a touchdown. He has looked good. Eyeball tests yep,
and again you know he's got the new Enigma three
part documentary series just sort of remind everyone I'm still here.
He seems genuinely interested in having the option of playing
again in twenty twenty five, even if it's not with

(01:16:52):
the Jets. He's even talked openly that yes, I'm willing
to mentor a young quarterback, something that he hasn't been
great at.

Speaker 2 (01:17:00):
During the course of his career.

Speaker 3 (01:17:03):
But if he throws the ball like he is throwing
what I'm watching today under difficult conditions against a good
Rams team, why not.

Speaker 2 (01:17:12):
I mean there's a lot of teams.

Speaker 3 (01:17:14):
I dare say half the teams in this league could
be well served if Aaron Rodgers is healthy and throwing
the ball effectively.

Speaker 2 (01:17:21):
I want to correct one thing.

Speaker 4 (01:17:23):
I think he did a phenomenal job mentoring a young
quarterback in Jordan Love, who is off to a good
start to his career, and he credits Aaron Rodgers with
teaching him a lot. I think the biggest problem with
Aaron Rodgers and the Jordan Love drafting was the level
of communication he received from the franchise.

Speaker 2 (01:17:41):
Look they had soured on Rogers. Rogers had soured.

Speaker 4 (01:17:44):
On them, so that was coming to a screeching halt
and it was meeting unceremonious ends. But I think in
terms of how he coached along Jordan Love was admirable
and they became friends and there was a fellowship there.
So I think he would be a good mentor for
another young quarterback in this league, whether it's with New

(01:18:05):
York or a different team. And the way he's playing
down the stretch of the season, regardless of how you
feel about the player off the field, how many of
those players have we seen, Like, does Tyreek Hill have
a spotless record in terms of like being a great
guy off the field. No, but people love him on
their fantasy team because he used to catch tons of
touchdown Patsy And.

Speaker 3 (01:18:25):
Let me give you two teams, because we've been talking
about these teams that are in the driver's seat of
having a chance to have the number one overall pick.

Speaker 2 (01:18:33):
The Giants and the Raiders.

Speaker 3 (01:18:34):
Yeah, would you sign Aaron Rodgers if you were the
Giants and the Raiders to mentor Shudor Sanders.

Speaker 2 (01:18:40):
Yes, yes, that seems pretty logical. Right.

Speaker 3 (01:18:43):
By the way, we've also said that it could be
a package deal with Dion. I don't think that Dion
Sanders would be adverse to having his son being mentored
by Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 2 (01:18:53):
I think it would. I think it would be a
perfect pairing. I honestly do. I think that Aaron Rodgers
still has good football in him. I said that last year.

Speaker 4 (01:19:01):
He's been the biggest problem for the Jets this season,
but he's starting to turn it around. And I said
to you earlier in this decline, it looked like I said,
if he does find a way to finish this season strong,
my opinion will change. But right now he's the biggest
problem in New York. Well guess what, He's fixed that problem.
And so all of a sudden, the Jets look like

(01:19:24):
they have a heartbeat. And it's because twelve is back
where I shouldn't say twelve, number eight, whatever number he
wears in New York.

Speaker 2 (01:19:30):
He's back. He's playing like him himself again. All right,
bo I don't understand this.

Speaker 3 (01:19:34):
Eagles commanders are at halftime and the Rams and Jets
are about to start the fourth quarter. Have we ever
had because he's all these games kicked off at the
same time. Where the game is going in the fourth quarter,
while another game that kicked off at the same.

Speaker 2 (01:19:48):
Time is still at halftime.

Speaker 3 (01:19:49):
Finds you'll find out why this is happening right here
on Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 2 (01:19:55):
First in ten outside zone, big hole for Jonathan Taylor.
There he goes again, fifty.

Speaker 10 (01:20:00):
The four sideline. You've ben do it again?

Speaker 2 (01:20:02):
Ten touchdowny?

Speaker 12 (01:20:06):
Why one cover seventy yards?

Speaker 2 (01:20:09):
Jonathan Taylor coming a munster game at week sixteen.

Speaker 3 (01:20:13):
That's called radio network, and yes he's having a monster game.

Speaker 2 (01:20:18):
How about this?

Speaker 3 (01:20:18):
Jonathan Taylor with eight minutes to go in the third
quarter has one hundred and ninety seven yards rushing.

Speaker 2 (01:20:27):
That is ninety nine short of the NFL single game record.

Speaker 3 (01:20:31):
Once again, Red Zone Radio here, we're broadcasting live from
the ty rack dot com studios.

Speaker 2 (01:20:36):
Tyrack dot com.

Speaker 3 (01:20:37):
We're gonna get you there and on matt Selection fast
reshipping free road as a protection over ten thousand recommended installers,
ty rack dot com the way tire buying should be.
It really is amazing that we've never had a three
hundred yard rushing day in NFL history. The record Adrian
Peterson his rookie year with the Vikings, had two hundred
and ninety six yards. But you know it's not that common.

(01:21:00):
We've had four hundred yard rushing days in college. I
remember when Lt. Ladanion Tomlinson did it when he was
at school at TCU. He pulled off a four hundred
yard rushing day. Jonathan Taylor, no, no, no, Melvin Gordon.
Melvin Gordon with which Wisconsin had a four hundred yard
rushing day, but never a three hundred yard rushing day.

Speaker 2 (01:21:23):
By the way, Taylor has now passed two hundred yards.

Speaker 3 (01:21:28):
All right, So twenty carries, two hundred and two yards,
the two long run touchdown runs, and again seven minutes
to go in the third quarter. Guys, I mean, if
you're the Colts, right, I mean, it's a blowout when
they're up thirty seven to seven right now against the Tidans,
why not.

Speaker 10 (01:21:43):
Go for Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:21:43):
You should?

Speaker 12 (01:21:44):
Can?

Speaker 2 (01:21:44):
I can?

Speaker 6 (01:21:44):
I ask Steve a bit of trivia since we're talking
about rushing records. Yeah, who holds the single game NCAA
rushing record?

Speaker 3 (01:21:51):
I believe it's still a samajip ryness man, Is that right?

Speaker 1 (01:21:55):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:21:57):
Yards ya, samajip Ryn still holds it. And that was
as a freshman, by the way to Oklahoma. Yeah, bushey,
But who was the second place vote getter for the
Heisman in nineteen ninety six.

Speaker 3 (01:22:07):
Oh, come on, now, this was Troy Davis, who, by
the way, at Iowa State back to back two thousand yard.

Speaker 2 (01:22:14):
Years here bo, look it up and eighty five yards rushing.

Speaker 5 (01:22:17):
What do you mean?

Speaker 13 (01:22:17):
Wait?

Speaker 2 (01:22:18):
What did you just say? So one hundred and eighty
five yards of Russian went.

Speaker 4 (01:22:21):
Two thousand, one hundred and eighty five yards rushing for
what was the name of the player?

Speaker 2 (01:22:26):
Again? No, no, Troy Davis at Iowa State.

Speaker 3 (01:22:29):
No, I might, I don't know, but he he was
second in nineteen ninety six to Danny wirfol Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:22:34):
He had and eighty five yards rush. We're having like
a version of Who's Your Daddy right now?

Speaker 3 (01:22:39):
A little bit sotsion. So I actually had the exact yard.
Does that alarm you, Chris, that I would know that?

Speaker 2 (01:22:46):
No, not really, nothing alarms says But you know what
what's crazy about it is he could give you the
nineteen ninety six second place vote getter for the Heisman.
Of course, who could forget the cyclone Davis who went
off for to over two thousand.

Speaker 3 (01:23:00):
By the way, that was on a two to nine
Iowa State team that almost won the Heisman.

Speaker 2 (01:23:04):
Trophy that year. All right, okay, so that happens, but
you're gonna have aneurysm. In nineteen eighty seven, the third
place vote Ketterer was even more interesting.

Speaker 3 (01:23:14):
I am not going to embarrass you by throwing out
Gordy lock bump. No no, no, no, no, no, yes,
Gordy lockbomb At. Holy Cross finished third in the Heisman
in nineteen eighty seven. Look that one up, forty lockbub
who's your daddy?

Speaker 2 (01:23:29):
Who's your dad?

Speaker 9 (01:23:30):
That's our segment, rich where we try to stump him
because he knows everything.

Speaker 2 (01:23:34):
There's everything that he's our daddy. I want to throw
up right, No, it's it's sickness. Vote was third in
the Heisman nineteen eighty seven. Nineteen eighty seven. Yeah, Gordy
Lockbom holy Cross. I believe it is the cork fancy.
Well you just asked me. Well, yeah, I mean Tim
Brown and Notre Dame was number one. Dominic Pherson, the
quarterback at Syracuse, who's number two in the voting that year. Yeah,

(01:23:56):
that's all, that's all correct. Yeah. Do you know who
was tenth nineteen eighty seven? Tenth? All right, let me
think about it.

Speaker 1 (01:24:04):
You know this.

Speaker 2 (01:24:05):
We'll hold on a second here. I mean you're going
to lose.

Speaker 3 (01:24:07):
Lorenzo White was fourth at Michigan State. Yeah, okay, then
you have I want to ironhead Hayward a pit.

Speaker 4 (01:24:16):
Okay, I want to say something so I swear to
god he has nothing in front of him.

Speaker 2 (01:24:22):
This is this is out of his brain. That he
just got the top five finishers in the Heisman voting
in nineteen eighty seven. He just randomly throughout a year
I did. Yeah, okay, so there you go. Let's see.

Speaker 3 (01:24:35):
I'm going to say tenth in nineteen eighty seven? Was
it Bobby Humphrey of Alabama?

Speaker 2 (01:24:46):
Unreal? The hell? It's unreal. Does that scary you? It
makes us want to throw up. I'm sorry in a
good way. You are the product of a misspent youth.
A youth.

Speaker 3 (01:24:57):
How about my adulthood? It never stops, folks, That's the deal.

Speaker 2 (01:25:01):
That's what I do, all right, So sorry about that.

Speaker 3 (01:25:04):
Meanwhile, I hear also to give his scores in games. Yes, sure,
the Cardinals and the Panthers. We actually have a pretty
good game here. Arizona just got a field goal. Still
trail the Panthers by a score of twenty three to twenty.
The Rams actually tied up that game with the Jets
nine to nine. Not all field goals. Both teams throw
touchdowns and missed the extra points. Have you noticed we've

(01:25:26):
had more miss extra points in recent weeks.

Speaker 4 (01:25:28):
Yeah. I think the cold and the weather. I think
it's having a huge impact on these kickers late in
the season.

Speaker 3 (01:25:35):
I'll tell you a team on the comeback trail are
the Cleveland Browns. They were down seventeen to nothing, they
got a score, and now they are in Cincinnati, deep
in Cincinnati territory, trailing the Bengals by a score of
seventeen to six inside a minute to go in the
third quarter of that game. So time wise, we are

(01:25:55):
all over the place. I mean, the Jets and Rams
have twelve minutes to go on the game. The Eagles
and the Commanders have twelve minutes to go in the
third quarter.

Speaker 4 (01:26:04):
Yeah, yeah, it's it's it's pretty nuts what's happening right now.
But yeah, to your point, the Browns are hanging in
there against the Bengals for a game that matters, not
for the AFC North or the playoff picture in the
AFC at large.

Speaker 8 (01:26:17):
Speaking of nuts, the control room in Monsey. We weave
all three of us have been like kind of marveling
at this for a little bit. Uh, Moncy played the
same laporta touchdown. But one of the things we did
not touch touch on is the play call the Lions
ran on that where Ben Johnson seems to have drawn
up a fake fumble before throwing the touchdown to Sam

(01:26:38):
laporta GOFMBI.

Speaker 9 (01:26:40):
So Jared Goff looks like he stumbles, yes, and then
Gibbs falls like falls. I'm using air quotes because he
actually hits the floor and rolls, but it looked like
it was all planned.

Speaker 5 (01:26:51):
And then Jericho the.

Speaker 8 (01:26:54):
NFL, by the way, that plan from Princess Bride, you
felt to one of the classic blunders.

Speaker 9 (01:27:00):
Yeah, so the ball never it touches the floor, but
they stumble, they pretend.

Speaker 2 (01:27:03):
To fall the whole thing stumble Rouski.

Speaker 3 (01:27:06):
By the way, that touchdown pass got golf back to
a perfect passer rating. So he's nineteen to twenty four,
three hundred and five yards, three touchdowns, no picks. His
passer rating is at a perfect one p fifty eight
point oh three.

Speaker 4 (01:27:18):
Oh no, this is one hundred percent planned. Okay, So
in New England. We had a direct snap play that
we ran at the time. We ran it a lot
with Kevin fuck or Danny Woodhead, where if we were
at the goal line and New England we would rarely
get out of our goal line offense like our jumbo sets.
If we were we're trying to run it in. But

(01:27:40):
this was a time where we would do it, or
short yardage, we'd use it on this too. Tom Brady
would be in shotgun. You'd have Danny Woodhead or Kevin Falk,
you know, small running back who could sort of disappear
behind the offensive line sidecar in the shotgun, and when
the ball was snapped directly to Woodhead or Falk, Tom
Brady would leap up in the air as if the

(01:28:01):
ball was shot and snapped over his head, and then
he would turn his back to the offensive line, chasing
after an imaginary ball. Meanwhile, Woodhead or Falk would have
the ball in their hands and they'd sort of like
score it out up the a gap and then boom,
you have yourself a touchdown, our first down.

Speaker 2 (01:28:18):
And it worked almost every time.

Speaker 4 (01:28:20):
It was bizarre because we put it on film a lot,
but teams would just fall for it and it's because
the football's most important thing in the game. So if
Jared Goff looks like he's stumbling, if Jamir Gibbs is
rolling around on the ground like they fumble the toss
or something like that, then all of a sudden, it
draws the defense toward the line of scrimmage.

Speaker 2 (01:28:40):
You can catch a tight end down field. Made everybody
look in the backfield.

Speaker 4 (01:28:44):
That's incredible. That is such I love Ben Johnson's play calling.
I love Dan Campbell's trust in him because you know,
these things come up in their offensive meetings, and Dan
Campbell is an offensive minded head coach former tight end.
He was on the offensive side of the ball's whole
life as a tight ends coach before it was elevated.
You look at a play like that and you say, yeah,
I mean, is it too gimmicky? I mean, what are

(01:29:06):
we trying to accomplish here? Dan Campbell goes, you know what,
screws it works, We're just gonna run.

Speaker 8 (01:29:11):
There was a comment after the Cowboys Lions game where
it's like, aren't you running too many trick plays? You're
gonna let everyone get this on tape, and Ben Johnson
said confidence like I've got plenty more in the bag
to talk about it.

Speaker 2 (01:29:22):
Awesome touchdown. Rams. There you go, tire, This is very
Tyler Higbee sighting.

Speaker 3 (01:29:30):
So Higbee is back from his injury, devastating injury he
had in the playoff game last year against the Lions.
And yes, he is a family friend of ours and
my daughter babysits his daughter on a regular basis. And
he is in the end zone giving the Rams the
lead on the road against the Jets. But again, this
guy had a devastating knee injury. And I saw this

(01:29:52):
guy with a full gear you know where your leg
is wrapped up all over the place after surgery, and
you're just like shaking your head, like do you have
plans after football? He's played ten years in this lege. Yeah,
I mean, Higby's had a solid NFL career. But to
see him get back in the end zone, yeah, how
exciting for him.

Speaker 6 (01:30:08):
Something to note here, the Rams got the ball back
because Aaron Rodgers got sacked, stripped and fumbled and then
Rogers was a little gumpy on the sideline and to
rod Taylor was warming up. Oo ooooh, So all of
a sudden, if he goes back in the game, sitting
here talking about this strong finish that Rogers and the
Jets could potentially have down the stretch of the season.

Speaker 2 (01:30:27):
Was it like a lower body injury, which I think, yeah,
it looked like his ankle. Yeah, he was. He got
twisted up when he got sacked. It was a little
mount of bodies.

Speaker 4 (01:30:36):
Yeah, it's it's gonna be Look, I mean, that's a
forty year old man that is a surgically repaired Achilles
that he rushed to get back onto the field. You
remember end of last season, or it should say, is
that last season was cruising along. There was conversation about
if the Jets have a hope at being in the postseason,
Rogers could be back. Okay, so that's great if he's

(01:30:57):
healthy enough to do that. But when you're rushing an
injury to get back healthy, I mean potentially can delay
how long it takes for that injury to fully recover.
And I think that's part of the reason why the
Jets look so shaky to start this season, because I
don't think you had a ton of confidence in that
achilles yet.

Speaker 3 (01:31:14):
All right, we'll continue on with a lot of big
games around the National Football League, hopefully a few exciting
finishes We'll have all the latest for you.

Speaker 2 (01:31:22):
This is Red Zone Radio. Wayfake roll right, Stafford Crost,
Bye Higby at the time, Big Rig.

Speaker 12 (01:31:28):
Higgs to the goal line, touchdown, Tyler Higbee, welcome back,
Big Big Pigs. Touchdown LA.

Speaker 2 (01:31:42):
That's the Rams Radio Network.

Speaker 3 (01:31:45):
So Tyler Higbee, first game back after that devastating knee
injury suffered in the playoff loss to the Lions a
year ago, scores a touchdown and the Rams have a
sixteen to nine lead on the road against the Jets.
Rams and hold on to first place in the NFC West.
This is the Red Zone Radio. Steve Harbin and Rich
Ornberger with you. We are live from the tai Iraq

(01:32:08):
dot Com studios. So that's that's quite a return to
I know, going into the game, he was just hoping
to get a little time.

Speaker 2 (01:32:16):
You know, you've been a little rusty.

Speaker 3 (01:32:17):
Having said, you know, the whole team's been out there
for you know, fifteen weeks, and like you're thrown in
week sixteen to play your first game of the year
to score a touchdown.

Speaker 2 (01:32:27):
Awfully good.

Speaker 3 (01:32:27):
Speaking of good, Rich Michael Pennix Junior's debut with the
Falcons is going pretty well. It's all Falcons. They're blowing
out the terrible New York Giants. But you know, pennicks
seventeen to twenty six, hundred ninety yards. You throw a
pick earlier in the game. Bejon Robinson's had a solid game,
ninety four yards on the ground and a couple of scores.

(01:32:49):
As far as the Giants are concerned, don't ask one
hundred and twenty one total yards for the New York Giants.
It is going to be very interesting move forward. Who
gets that number one pick between Obviously it looks like
it's going to be between the Giants and the Raiders.

Speaker 2 (01:33:07):
Yeah, it's a race for the bottom.

Speaker 4 (01:33:08):
To comment on Michael Penix Junior, I think the Falcons,
to their credit, have done something very intelligent with his
first start. They've ran the mess out of the football
and it hasn't been perfect. That hasn't been a wonderful
day rushing. Bijon Robinson about to touch one hundred yards
if he keeps going at this rate. But they've discluding

(01:33:29):
two rushes from Penix Junior. They've ran the ball thirty
two times, he's thrown the ball twenty six, so at
very least they're keeping balance. At most They're trying to
feature the run game, which really does loosen things up
for a passing game. Especially gets a weaker team a
defense that has allowed a lot of scoring over the
course of the season, That is a great way to

(01:33:49):
boost the confidence of your rookie quarterback getting his first
start of the year this late in the season.

Speaker 2 (01:33:56):
However, I will say this, I'm really out on.

Speaker 4 (01:33:59):
The Falcons plan. I don't understand why they signed Kirk
Cousins if the plan was to draft a quarterback in
the first round. I also don't understand trading up to
draft a quarterback, you know, because if the value was there,
if you wait and you miss out on it, wouldn't
you just select the next best player to help your team.
It was just a bizarre group of decisions that they

(01:34:22):
made this offseason, and it's had a profound impact in
my opinion on their season this year.

Speaker 3 (01:34:27):
Well right now again, they are a game behind the Buccaneers.
Of course, the Bucks are going to play tonight as
they take on the Cowboys, not exactly a prime time
late game. Baker Mayfield this year thirty two touchdowns, fourteen picks.
He has had a huge year, you know, but I

(01:34:49):
was a little sidetracked during the break here because I
was just thinking, what are we even talking about anybody
other than Mahomes and the Chiefs. Again to Patrick Mahomes' postseason.
His postseason is amazing because it literally is like a
full season.

Speaker 2 (01:35:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:35:07):
Yeah, his postseason record is fifteen to three with forty
one touchdowns.

Speaker 2 (01:35:12):
And eight picks.

Speaker 3 (01:35:14):
Let's just think that in right, And remember going into
last year everyone said, yeah, but he's never had a
road playoff game. Obviously super Bowls are on neutral sites.
And then last year, remember they had the freeze game
against Miami in cac at, Buffalo gets the win, at
Baltimore gets the win, and then pulls out an overtime
victory against the forty nine ers.

Speaker 2 (01:35:37):
It's going to stop this guy. I mean, you know,
Brady had amazing numbers. His are better.

Speaker 3 (01:35:43):
Yeah, fifteen and three, forty one touchdowns, eight picks in
the postseason. He's won his last ten of the see no,
he's on the last seven postseason games. Remember their only
postseason losses that first AFC Championship game first year as
to start against the Patriots, the inexplicable second half meltdown
against the Bengals at home, in the AFC Championship Game

(01:36:06):
a couple of years ago, and then of course the
blowout lost to Tampa and Tom Brady in that Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (01:36:10):
That's it, that's it.

Speaker 9 (01:36:13):
It.

Speaker 3 (01:36:13):
Teams sitting at fourteen and one, they're gonna be the
number one seed in the AFC. Been there, done that,
even though his number is a pedestrian this year. Who's
gonna bet against Patrick Mahomes in the postseason.

Speaker 4 (01:36:26):
It's so hard to because he finds a way to
get the job done. If he's hurt, he plays hurt.
If the situation is imperfect, they win ugly. They just
find ways to win. And he has that it factor,
that low heartbeat stuff that factors when you're a special
operator in the military where there the bullets are flying

(01:36:48):
for real in that situation, and you could keep your
composure and you can get people extracted from a war zone,
or you could get the bad guys like those samealities
our qualities that you find in athletes at the highest
level level. The Kobe's, the Mjs, the Lebrons, the Mahomes,

(01:37:10):
the Tiger Woods, the tom Brady's of the world. There
are so few like that who can be operators in
the most chaotic of situations when things are are horribly
against you in terms of your odds of having success.
You know, harken back to the Atlanta Falcon super Bowl
against the Patriots where they're trailing, was it twenty seven three,

(01:37:31):
twenty eight three, whatever the disparity was, there was no
quit in that sideline because Tom Brady believed and it started.

Speaker 2 (01:37:38):
There and it grew, and every score it grew a
little bit more, a little bit more.

Speaker 4 (01:37:42):
Mahomes have the same exact qualities and values and ability
to operate in those circumstances.

Speaker 2 (01:37:48):
So to go back to your question, who could bet
against him?

Speaker 4 (01:37:51):
The answer is exactly nobody should know, because he possesses
those special IT factor traits that so few human beings do.

Speaker 3 (01:37:59):
I just remember last year thinking, Wow, the Chiefs are
not playing well and they don't have home field, and
they're gonna go into Buffalo. This is gonna be Josh
Allen's opportunity at home. He doesn't have to go to
Casey and the Chiefs win. And then he had the
Ravens at home, best team, you know, MVP Lamar Jackson,

(01:38:19):
and again they go in and win. And there were
times maddening if you don't like the Chiefs.

Speaker 2 (01:38:24):
Tom Brady lost, you know what I mean?

Speaker 4 (01:38:26):
There were times where Tiger Woods, it was down the
stretch of a major and somebody bested him. There there
have been times where Lebron in the postseason couldn't get
it done.

Speaker 2 (01:38:35):
With the Homes has lost. Yeah, Like I mean that
second half meltdown.

Speaker 3 (01:38:38):
We were on the air for that AFC Championship game
against the Bengals, Like, what just happened here? Remember they
were just blowing the Bengals out. We're like, wow, blowout
City in the second half. It's like, what happened?

Speaker 12 (01:38:49):
Was?

Speaker 2 (01:38:49):
It?

Speaker 4 (01:38:50):
Truly was the tail of two halves? And it started
with the final play before halftime, yep, where they elected
to throw the football and got too cute at the
goal line and so they went sideways instead of to
the end zone. It was strange and it was a
strange decision and it led to a really sloppy second half.
Mahomes was responsible for at least one turnover in the
second half and that's all she wrote.

Speaker 2 (01:39:12):
So look, Ken it happened. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:39:14):
But again, to go back to the question you asked,
do you want to bet against Mahomes? Danser is absolutely not,
because he's one of those guys who it seems like
the bigger the moment, the better he plays.

Speaker 3 (01:39:26):
The Rams have the ball and the lead sixteen to
nine over the Jets. We got seven and a half
minutes to go in the fourth quarter. The weather has
been brutal, I mean in terms of temperatures, it has
been freezing there. Stafford twelve to seventeen, only one hundred
and two yards. Kyra Williams, though eighteen, carries one hundred
and eight yards and a touchdown. Remember a couple of

(01:39:47):
years ago, Kyron Williams was hurt as a rookie, a
complete afterthought, and then Lasher comes out of nowhere, actually
led the NFL in yards rushing per game, made the
Pro Bowl, and he's back at it again this year.

Speaker 2 (01:40:00):
What a difference it makes.

Speaker 3 (01:40:02):
I'm just going to be very curious when you have
a running back of the caliber of Ashton Genty in
this upcoming NFL draft.

Speaker 2 (01:40:09):
As more and more teams are finding out the value.

Speaker 3 (01:40:12):
Of these running backs, especially late in the season, all
of a sudden, you look at all these running backs
over one hundred yards rushing late in the season. It
creates balancing your offense. You talked earlier about, you know,
Michael Pennock's junior's debut. You got Bjeon Robinson, all right,
he's gonna have one hundred yards rushing. What is this
going to do for the draft stock of a guy
that has that kind of talent like we see in

(01:40:33):
a kid like Ashton Genty.

Speaker 4 (01:40:35):
The outliers will get drafted high, there's no question about it.
But when you look around the NFL and you start
thinking about the backs who have had an impact either
this year or last. You know, the Derek Henrys, the
sa Kuon Barkley's, the Josh Jacobs to Alvin Kamaro's to
Johnson Taylor's, the Bejon Robinson's you just mentioned. Who's on
his way to one hundred yards this year. McCaffrey, more

(01:40:56):
so last year than this year with the injuries that
he's suffered. Aaron j Owns, Briese Hall, Jamiir Gibbs. We
just saw him get in on the zone today a
couple of times. Connor, he has over one hundred yards today.
Kyram Williams, you mentioned like you see how many names,
I'm saying, yeah, there's a lot of them. So here's
the problem with the running back position is yes, they
are impactful, but they're also easily replaceable.

Speaker 2 (01:41:19):
Yeah, but special backs aren't. I agree. I agree. I
don't think Saquon Barkley is replaceable. But would you say
David Montgomery is a really talented running back, Well, but
he's I don't think he's a better talent than Gibbs it.
But my point is, I mean, it's nice to have
two guys, you have two of them on the same team.

Speaker 4 (01:41:36):
It's like there, It's a lot easier to find a
good running back than it is to find a good quarterback.
It's a lot easier to find a good running back
than is to find a leftackle. A lot easier to
find a running back then is to find a good corner.
A lot easier to find a good running back then
is to find.

Speaker 2 (01:41:48):
A good receiver. There's way more talented running backs than
there are wide receiver ones who can truly change the game.
How much does a talented offensive line have to do
with a talented running back? I mean factors a great deal.

Speaker 3 (01:42:01):
How much do you love, as an offensive lineman having
a big time back behind you, knowing that that's the
way we're gonna go We're gonna fire off. None of
this pass protection crap. I'm just gonna fire off and
we're gonna go downhill.

Speaker 4 (01:42:16):
One of my favorite memories is when you've of playing
football at any level, whether it be high school, collegiately, professionally,
is when you are dominating a team and they know
exactly what you're about to call and there's nothing they
can do about it. We're gonna run power, we're gonna
run inside zone, we're gonna run that counterplay, and.

Speaker 2 (01:42:36):
That offensive line's in sync. Everyone knows what to do.
You're just like a machine.

Speaker 4 (01:42:40):
We're blocking them up and we're coming downhill at them,
just like you said, and nobody seems to be able
to stop us from doing exactly what you want to.

Speaker 2 (01:42:48):
Knocking down the pins, man, that's.

Speaker 4 (01:42:50):
Fire, it's and it's the same sound like that sound
of a strike, you know, when all the pins fall
down like that. It's basically that sound on repeating your brain.
It just scratches all the right itches.

Speaker 3 (01:43:00):
All right, let's find out what is trending right now?
Speaking of striking out all the right notes, she does
it every.

Speaker 2 (01:43:09):
Single sunday with us here, the great.

Speaker 9 (01:43:11):
Manci belianis you know my fantasy team is in the
semi finals right now playing against Ricky Really.

Speaker 2 (01:43:19):
Yes, the who is your key player today.

Speaker 9 (01:43:25):
By Jean Robinson having a great game, two touchdown, Jared
Goff having a great game, He's going off perfect perfect.

Speaker 2 (01:43:32):
I also have the Lions kicker Baits Jake Bates.

Speaker 9 (01:43:36):
I was going to say Jesse for some reason, but
I think that's an actor or somebody else.

Speaker 2 (01:43:39):
I don't know, Baits. So you know, I've got a couple.
I've got a couple actually be Norman Bates Bates. There
we go. That's not the fact, is there?

Speaker 9 (01:43:48):
There's a Jesse Bates in the NFL.

Speaker 5 (01:43:50):
Who's that?

Speaker 2 (01:43:51):
Isn't there?

Speaker 10 (01:43:52):
Jesse Baits in the NFL?

Speaker 2 (01:43:56):
Safety says Bo. That's why I get confused. Jesse Jake.
But the kicker anyway, we're fighting.

Speaker 9 (01:44:01):
We're enemies right now, and haven't looked at the score because.

Speaker 2 (01:44:04):
I'm sure spy Panthers legend Jake Bates. There we go?

Speaker 9 (01:44:07):
Go, All right, what's happening in the NFL? Where where
the Commanders? Jaden Daniels got their first down, got them
the first down right before the end of the third
quarter with the thirty yard run. So The Commanders are
in the red zone right now against the Eagles, who
are on top twenty seven to fourteen.

Speaker 2 (01:44:24):
They just got going in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 9 (01:44:26):
The Cardinals are losing to the Panthers thirty to twenty now.
Also early in the fourth a field goal for the
Rams extends their lead over the Jets nineteen to nine,
five minutes left in the game. It's been all Colts
against the Titans because Jonathan Taylor has twenty one carries,
two hundred and three yards and three touchdowns. They're beating
the Titans thirty eight to fifteen. Early in the fourth quarter.

(01:44:49):
The Bengals holding on to their lead over the Browns
and they are knocking on the door to score. It's
seventeen to six, five minutes to go in that one.

Speaker 2 (01:44:57):
The Lion's still on.

Speaker 9 (01:44:58):
Top of the Bears thirty four seventeen early in the
fourth Jared Goff twenty two of twenty nine, three hundred
and twenty eight yards and three touchdowns, and the Falcons
are beating the Giants thirty four to seven halfway through
the fourth quarter.

Speaker 2 (01:45:09):
And just mention here of.

Speaker 9 (01:45:11):
Miles Garrett, first player in NFL history to reach one
hundred sacks before turning twenty nine. Wow, So congratulations to
Miles Garrett.

Speaker 2 (01:45:21):
Question is can he get to the record, which is
two hundred sacks by Bruce Smith? That is the record.
Of course, he's do one hundred. Can you imagine? I
mean Edgie White add one ninety eight, but Bruce Smith
two hundred sacks?

Speaker 4 (01:45:34):
Okay, So let's put it into this. So he, I'm guessing,
entered the NFL at twenty one. He's played eight seasons.
I think Miles Garrett has, so he would have to
be somewhere around thirty seven to get another one hundred sacks.
If he continues to getting sacks at the same right,

(01:45:55):
that would be the greatest career of any pass rusher.

Speaker 3 (01:45:59):
Out again at Bruce Smith, who ironically never led the
league in sacks a single year.

Speaker 2 (01:46:04):
He had double digit sacks thirteen times. That is so many,
that is gosh, thirteen.

Speaker 3 (01:46:14):
He made eleven Pro Bowls thirteen, So two hundred on
the dot, that is the NFL record. He played nineteen
years in the NFL and he had double digit sacks
thirteen times. That is insanity, right.

Speaker 4 (01:46:28):
I knew an offensive lineman who played against Bruce Smith, and.

Speaker 2 (01:46:31):
He said it was It was awful. It was just
god awful. He was so good.

Speaker 4 (01:46:37):
And that was back in the day where they allowed
defensive linemen to headslap, Yes, where they would just pound
you in the ear hole of your helmet and leave
your head ringing for the rest of the month.

Speaker 5 (01:46:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:46:48):
Bruce Smith, by the way, he's had the most double
digit sackiers of any edgresher i should say, defensive player
in the history of the NFL.

Speaker 2 (01:46:58):
So, yeah about this.

Speaker 3 (01:46:59):
In two one thousand and two, still playing for the
then Redskins, at age thirty ninety, had nine sacks.

Speaker 2 (01:47:05):
Oh my god.

Speaker 3 (01:47:06):
Okay, So if you're still doing it at that age,
that's how you get to those insane records around the NFL.
Once again, this is Red Zone Radio. Steve Hartman and
Rich Ornberg are with you. We are live from the
tire rack dot Com studios. All right, so look at
the games we have right now. I would love to
say we got a lot of exciting finishes ahead, and

(01:47:28):
that would just be a flat out lie. I mean,
the Falcons blowing out the Giants, Lions blowing out the Bears.

Speaker 8 (01:47:33):
We're seeing a punt, very unusual puns in that's I
know they just got sacked deep. But like you've kind
of got the game on the line here.

Speaker 3 (01:47:39):
Yeah, well, Browns don't look like they're going to make
any noise. They're trying late. They're down seventeen to six
to the Bengals. It's been all colds. By the way,
Jonathan Taylor, they sat him. I mean you remember we
were talking about if possible, right, they're satam you.

Speaker 2 (01:47:53):
Know, thank god because I'm up against him in France.

Speaker 3 (01:47:55):
So twenty one carries, two hundred three yards, three touchdowns.
Those are his numbers, seemingly in control right now, up
nineteen ninety five minutes to go against the Jets. The
closest game is this Commander's Eagles game, with the Eagles
now hanging on by a score of twenty seven to
twenty one. And we still got a lot of time
left in this game. By the way, Barkley over his

(01:48:17):
last thirteen carries, only has twenty four yards rushing. So
I'll have to a hot start, including that sixty eight
yard touchdown run Barkley. If you actually take that run out,
twenty one carries for sixty five yards, well this is
Commanders are doing a decent job there.

Speaker 4 (01:48:35):
Yeah, when you see a team understand that the quarterback
can't get it done the same way as starter can,
and you can start getting closer to the line of scrimmage.
You can spend more time in man coverage because you're
not as worried about getting exploited there, and commit more
bodies to line of scrimmage. That's what happens against lesser

(01:48:55):
competition offensively, when you have a quarterback who can't play
at this level, which Kenny Pickett I mean exactly. He's
a backup for a reason. He came into the game
after Jalen Hurtz was in there, and it looks like
a completely different game with him in there. He's not
as careful with the football, he's not as good as
a thrower's hurts.

Speaker 3 (01:49:13):
Yeah, you're absolutely nailing it. I mean, that's what the
commanders are doing. They low it, eating up to stop Barkley,
and it is working right now. Meanwhile, Jayden Daniels adding
to his resume today three touchdown passes. He's also run
for sixty seven yards. By the way, Brian Robinson Junior
is there leading rusher non quarterback eight carries for fourteen yards.

(01:49:37):
This has been a great Eagles defense but Daniels has
gotten some big plays in this game.

Speaker 6 (01:49:42):
Can I throw it like my probably my worst opinion
on football. Yeah, if you actually watch that thirty yard
run by Jaden Daniels, it's complete sham because so many
Eagles just gave up on tackling him because they were
scared to get a penalty.

Speaker 2 (01:49:54):
Oh, I get right.

Speaker 6 (01:49:55):
I think the quarterbacks, given that the game is entirely
tilted in their favor already, I think if they go
pass the line of scrimmage, you should just both have
played dead.

Speaker 2 (01:50:02):
I pick it up one. I think they should be
allowed to run with the ball.

Speaker 4 (01:50:05):
They need to solve this issue bo because also I
think Trevor Lawrence's concussion earlier this season was a result
of the rules giving him a false sense of security
sliding that way for or anytime sua decides a lead
with his own head when he's going when he's like
going head first into attack, it's just I think a quarterback,
when they go beyond the line of scrimmage, you're into

(01:50:27):
the land of the giants. I'm sorry, You're you're gonna
get hit, You're gonna get you're gonna get smoked, You're
gonna get hit just like any of these running backs
and receivers with the ball in their hand.

Speaker 2 (01:50:35):
Because as as dynamic and as fun as it is
to see quarterback play at a high level in this league,
and as important as their health is to the entertainment
value that this league provides, if you are a mobile
quarterback and you're a threat to get a first down,
I'm teaching my defense take his head off, just like
I would a receiver, just like I would a running back,

(01:50:56):
because an offer to pick up his tab after the game,
because I don't want that quarterback to get the first down.
And some of these quarterbacks like Josh Allen, I'm sorry,
that's a tight end or maybe even just a moose
with antlers and everything masquerading as a quarterback when he's
outside the pocket coming downhill at you hit that man.

Speaker 3 (01:51:15):
By the way, he speaking of running quarterbacks. Kyler Murray
just ran for a twenty yard touchdown. So that's the
other game getting very interesting. Carolina leading the Arizona Cardinals
thirty to twenty seven, so plenty of times seven minutes
ago in the fourth quarter of that game. By the way,
Bryce Young has thrown for a couple of touchdowns. He
ran for a touchdown. He's playing some pretty good football.

(01:51:36):
But Kyler Murray trying to keep Arizona alive right now
in that chase in the NFC Wes Rams looking good
right now.

Speaker 2 (01:51:46):
The Jets do have the ball though, and the Jets
are driving.

Speaker 7 (01:51:49):
So all of a.

Speaker 3 (01:51:50):
Sudden, this happens to us almost every week, that's right.
We're like, oh, that game's over, and I'll see like, like,
did we miss something? Well, the Jets have happened there
three timeouts.

Speaker 4 (01:51:58):
Aaron Rodgers still in the game, even though he got
up hobbling a couple of drives ago. And they're putting
together a little bit of a drive here. Now they're
starting to stall here as they got into the fringe range.

Speaker 2 (01:52:09):
This is for a downtair. Well, actually, you're down ten,
so you go for the field goal here two and
a half minutes to go. It's third and eight. Right now,
they're at the Rams thirty yard line.

Speaker 4 (01:52:19):
And that's what I was about to say. You're at
the fringe, so you can't lose yardage here. You're at
the thirty yard line, so whatever you do, can't take
a sack, can't take a negative play.

Speaker 2 (01:52:29):
You have to throw the ball downfield or at very
least have some sort of productive run because mistakes can
knock you out a field goal range.

Speaker 3 (01:52:37):
By the way, did you see how on site kick
the Broncos head at the end of the game as
the Chargers and the stab that linebacker made it was perfect.
It was like the boom a big hob and this
guy barely held on it was a linebacker.

Speaker 2 (01:52:50):
I couldn't believe it. That easily could have got loose
ball and the Broncos would have had a shot. To
credit credit to the special teams coordinator. You're putting the
right people on the field in those situations. If that,
if something like that happens, that was that was insane.
When I watched the replay a couple of times, right

(01:53:10):
the Jets offense staying on the field, My guess is
they'll burn a time out here. They're gonna but yeah,
the false start. Look at Aaron Rodgers, he just turns
the other way there, so they're left tackle. Mitchell jumps
off side. It was four starts four Now you gotta
go for me. Literally, you know what they're saying to him.

(01:53:31):
He's raising his hand. Likes he doing that.

Speaker 4 (01:53:33):
We didn't we didn't even have a play call, buddy.
We were trying to draw them off side so we
could get the free first down. That's wil Rogers is
screaming on the slot. He is, because how do you
jump off side?

Speaker 12 (01:53:43):
Now?

Speaker 2 (01:53:43):
They gotta punk the football? Oh man, are they punting?
Oh no, they have Carlson on the field. They gotta
go for a field goal here. Gosh, but this is
now a deep, deep shot. It's a forty nine yard
attempt and it is freezing. I mean that ball is
like an absolute rock, all right. So forty nine yard
hard field goal attempt by the Jets. We got two
to two to go in the fourth quarter, trying to

(01:54:05):
make this a seven point game. The kick is wide right,
No good, no way, and that looks like it's going
to be it. Jetmon is just going to get blown
up on the sideline, Like what do you think him, buddy?
Come wow wow.

Speaker 3 (01:54:21):
So not only does he get the penalty to blow
their cover for as you say, Aaron Rodgers is the
master of getting teams to jump off side, and maybe
and again was fourth and four offside with his ar
a perfect first down situation, but he knocks it back
five yards and a forty nine yard attempt comes up
wide right, so the Jets look like they're on their

(01:54:41):
way to their eleventh loss of the season. Will continue
on with some exciting finishes around the NFL.

Speaker 2 (01:54:47):
This is Red Zone Radio thirty two with the Eagles four.
Here's the staff.

Speaker 11 (01:54:52):
Eagles break five, Damus move into his right throw Sports
the end zone on the.

Speaker 2 (01:54:56):
Ground is a Loman. He's a can that's gone touched.
Touchdown Washing. If they're backetting, it's Big one hundred at
Washing Commander's radio network. So the commanders cut the Eagles
lead twenty seven to twenty one, and the Commanders have
the ball and they just crossed midfields.

Speaker 3 (01:55:15):
So nine to go on the fourth quarter, Commanders with
the ball, trailing the Eagles by a score of twenty
seven to twenty one. This islet Zone Radio live from
the tire Rack dot Com studios.

Speaker 2 (01:55:26):
And we have a touchdown.

Speaker 8 (01:55:28):
Yes, I just missed too. The player was but the commanders,
we were waiting on the result of a penalty.

Speaker 2 (01:55:33):
It was on the Eagles. Terry McLaurin, commanders have taken
the lead. Okay, why a flagger down as the keys, Yeah,
I didn't think it was Terry. No it wasn't Why
was he standing alone?

Speaker 6 (01:55:45):
What was the flagmen on the field on the Eagles
that they over obviously.

Speaker 3 (01:55:49):
Wow, And so they just stood around and watched as
the Commanders now have tied the game, waiting on the
extra point take the lead. So the extra point right now,
still nine minutes to go in the fourth. The extra
point is good and the Commanders take a twenty eight
to twenty seven lead.

Speaker 2 (01:56:07):
Meanwhile, the Rams are forced to punt.

Speaker 4 (01:56:10):
Yeah, so the way this worked out, Jets missed the
field goal attempt from Carlson the forty nine yard or
the Rams have the football after the missed attempt, they
stall out punt the ball to the Jets, who muffed
the punt, and so now the Rams have the football
inside the Jets twenty y the end, it doesn't matter

(01:56:31):
because the Jets ran out of timeout.

Speaker 2 (01:56:33):
So this game ends ninety nine because the Jets just
laughably wasted away their opportunities in the fourth quarter. Well,
the Jets fall to four and eleven.

Speaker 3 (01:56:45):
The Rams, at least for another week, will be atop
the NFC West and the Rams are done with their
roads schedule. So the rams last two games are home
games against their division rivals, the Cardinals and the Seahawks.

Speaker 2 (01:56:59):
So still a lot of work to be done.

Speaker 3 (01:57:01):
But the Rams have now won eight of their last
ten games after a one and four start, and they
are now leading in the NFC West.

Speaker 2 (01:57:11):
All right, so we got those games going on.

Speaker 3 (01:57:13):
Meanwhile, the Colts and Titans game, Like, this game was
over right, and we told you that Jonathan Taylor was sitting.

Speaker 2 (01:57:22):
It's a one score game.

Speaker 3 (01:57:23):
All of a sudden, Yeah, the Titans came back, so
Taylor was put back in the game frantically.

Speaker 2 (01:57:29):
He didn't. He only carried a couple of times.

Speaker 3 (01:57:31):
He has two hundred eleven yards right now, Colts do
have the ball two minute warding, but they lead the
Titans by a score of thirty eight to thirty. And again,
Mason Rudolph is just a way better quarterback than Will Levis,
you know, through a couple of interceptions, but twenty three
to thirty three, two hundred and fifty two yards passing
and a couple of touchdowns in this game.

Speaker 4 (01:57:51):
Yeah, Mason Rudolph has a little bit of that Joe
Flacco feel.

Speaker 2 (01:57:56):
That's a great comparison.

Speaker 4 (01:57:57):
Like he's talented enough to get you what you need offensively,
but he's careless with the football, so there are times
where he'll give the game away.

Speaker 2 (01:58:05):
But the Titans all they need is a chance.

Speaker 4 (01:58:08):
They have talented football players around this roster, they just
need a QB who can give them a chance. And
Will Levis was doing that in spots, but just not
consistently enough. Mason Rudolph, like you said, is a much
better quarterback.

Speaker 3 (01:58:20):
All right, Cardinals right now facing a third and twelve,
trailing the Panthers by three, and Kyler Murray just threw
an interception.

Speaker 2 (01:58:28):
You gotta be kidding. Awful decision midfield, even if you're
punting the ball at that point, there's still three minutes ago.
He heaved it down the field right into the arms
of a Panther's defensive back.

Speaker 3 (01:58:42):
And so the Cardinals in a game they need to win.
I look at Kyler Murray's just holding his helmet, like, what.

Speaker 2 (01:58:48):
Did I just do? Hang on the was this third down?
This was third and twelve? Okay, I don't hate it
as much, Yeah, but even.

Speaker 3 (01:58:54):
Then you could do I mean, if you really think
it's four down territory, where's he throwing this ball?

Speaker 4 (01:59:00):
Okay, you're trailing by three, you throw the football. Now
the Panthers have it inside their own fifteen yard line.
I don't hate this decision. It's basically a punt, I mean,
because you're not kicking a field goal from that distance anyways.
And if it doesn't go well on third down, you're
punting it down to the Panthers. What you're gonna try
to get it? All right, let's know what the decision. Okay,
it's not as bad of an interception.

Speaker 3 (01:59:21):
Again, and you're right about this, because the Cardinals do
have three timeouts. It's a two minute warnings, so you know, right,
it was a good decision, all right. So again, Panthers
leave the Cardinals thirty to twenty seven. We got three
minutes and ten seconds, So now the Eagles have got
to come up with answers. Trailing the Commanders by a
score of twenty eight to twenty seven. Meanwhile, the other

(01:59:42):
game that.

Speaker 2 (01:59:42):
Is still alive, it's hard to believe because it's been
such a blowout, is the Colts.

Speaker 3 (01:59:47):
Thirty eight to thirty over Tennessee. As we are passing
the two minute winning this is Red Zoe Radio.

Speaker 11 (01:59:53):
First to ted at midfield, Jamie to throw again, have
to run away for pressure lock it up, line up,
down the sideline, go Satias.

Speaker 2 (02:00:02):
Get down a one tackle and a second he's going
tuck down, touckdown.

Speaker 10 (02:00:07):
Watching, but there are three flags.

Speaker 2 (02:00:10):
Get three different parts of the field. Okay, I'm a
hold off before I'll say anything. I don't know who is.

Speaker 10 (02:00:24):
Daniels for touchdown? Pat, You're gonna get watching.

Speaker 2 (02:00:28):
At the opportunity of dun Oh.

Speaker 3 (02:00:32):
Yeah, that's big one Hunter Washing Commanders Radio Network and
they have that twenty eight to twenty seven lead right now,
Eagles of the ball trying to come back as we
got under five minutes to go in the fourth quarter.
This is Red Zone Radio. We're broadcasting live from the
tire rag dot com studios.

Speaker 2 (02:00:48):
Tire rag dot com.

Speaker 3 (02:00:49):
We're gonna help get you there and I'm matched selection fast,
free shipping, free road as a protection over ten thousand
recommended installers, tire rag dot com, the way tire buying
should be. So we got three games going on right now,
still up for grabs.

Speaker 4 (02:01:03):
And on a third and fifteen, Kenny Pickett took off
with the football Philadelphia trailing by one, four minutes left
in this game, and he was going to slide seven
yards short of the first down marker, but butler of
the Commander's defense throws an elbow in his helmet as
he's going down.

Speaker 2 (02:01:22):
So hard not to hit him too. I mean, he's
trying his hardest nuts to go over the top.

Speaker 4 (02:01:26):
And so what ends up happening is the side ref
the official throws the flag and says that that's a penalty,
and so I.

Speaker 3 (02:01:35):
Think, no, no penalty, the penalty off. Well, first of all,
you said the elbow, The elbow went over his helmet.
He need to make contact of the helmets that Eagles
are gonna come on right now for a field goal attempt.

Speaker 4 (02:01:51):
That is an incredible no call. I mean that gets
called what nine times out of ten?

Speaker 2 (02:01:56):
Flag up of his Jalen hurts No, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (02:01:58):
But if Jenny Pickett, first of all, you said the helmet,
but his elbow went over the helmet, there was no contact.

Speaker 2 (02:02:05):
Till the time, like it hit his helmet. But it
didn't look like it was from the angle they were showing,
it did not look like it hit it. All right,
this is going to be a.

Speaker 3 (02:02:13):
We got a fifty yard field goal attempt coming up
again inside four minutes to go, Eagles looking to take
a lead down twenty eight twenty seven. Meanwhile, Cardinals and Panthers,
by the way, it is a final score.

Speaker 7 (02:02:24):
Now.

Speaker 2 (02:02:25):
The Colts have defeated the Titans thirty eight to thirty.

Speaker 3 (02:02:28):
So the Colts at seven and eight are still alive
in the playoff chase. All right, Cardinals have the ball
down thirty to twenty seven, in desperate need of a win,
first down at their own twenty six yard line. So
Kyler Murray is going to have to engineer a drive here.
They have one time out remaining. They're at their own
thirty four yard line.

Speaker 2 (02:02:49):
They have a second and one situation right now, and
Kyler Murray desperately trying to get the Cardinals into field
goal range.

Speaker 3 (02:02:56):
That's going to take a lot of time off the clock.
I don't think you want to burn your last time
out there.

Speaker 2 (02:03:00):
They don't. They're gonna have to spike.

Speaker 3 (02:03:01):
The ball, all right, fifty yard field goal attempt for
the Eagles, and that is good.

Speaker 2 (02:03:08):
That is right down the middle. So the Eagles have
retaken the lead thirty to twenty eight.

Speaker 8 (02:03:13):
Still three forty eight to go, so many games going
final and there's still four just under four minutes to
go in this game. All right, So that game is
really slow, but this Cardinal game is getting very interesting.
Clock's still running fifty one to fifty seconds, and Kyler
Murray's gotten the Cardinals to midfield right now, trying to
get into field goal range.

Speaker 2 (02:03:32):
And a little pass here. At some point you may
have to.

Speaker 3 (02:03:34):
Take a time out, rich thirty nine, thirty eight. You
don't want to burn it. You want to use it for,
you know, if you have to get ready for a
field goal attempt. But now the classic nicetch. He was
juggling that for a little bit of Trey mcbridey. We're
now inside thirty seconds to go. Clock's still running. They
are about ten yards shy. A field goal runs and
he throws it out of bounds. So the Cardinals will

(02:03:56):
stop the clock right now twenty two seconds left, third
and four, but they need at least another ten yards
to get into any kind of field goal.

Speaker 2 (02:04:05):
Rang Man.

Speaker 4 (02:04:06):
That is a nice little drive that Kyler Murray manufactured.
And he did it by not getting greedy. He understood
the clock, he understood where they need to get to
make this a ballgame. You only need three points to
keep this game alive. So check down, checkdown, checkdown, and
they're on the other side of the Panthers fifty yard line.
They're into Panthers down toward.

Speaker 2 (02:04:27):
They need ten yards here, they're at the forty three
yard line. Ten yards to get you a fifty yard
field goal attempt. All right, so clock stop. Here we go,
twenty two seconds left. Murray's gonna scramble. He's gonna run
for it, and he is gonna get to that first
down marker. It looks like now they're gonna say short.
He does stop the clock though, with fifteen seconds left.

Speaker 4 (02:04:47):
Yeah, needed about four yards on the third down to
get the first down here, and he dove for the
marker but made sure to get himself out of bounds.

Speaker 2 (02:04:55):
Yeah. So he just got the first down. I think
he might well they Yeah, they gave it to him.
They gave it to him, all right, all right, this
is the clock is run out. Yeah. Wait, what happened? Okay,
so the clock ran out because they said his knee
was down. What happened here? The clock says zeros and
not in final time out? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Wait,

(02:05:17):
so Gannon's on the sideline. The Cardinals CoA threw this up?
Did they say the clock was running again and missed it.
He said what and.

Speaker 3 (02:05:24):
They're, oh, no, they're putting two seconds back on That
makes sense. No, No, I thought when Murray's knee went
down it was in bounds. So when he scrambled, yeah,
the clock they thought was running.

Speaker 2 (02:05:41):
No, dude, this is insane. Yeah, this is insane. So
they missed it. They thought he went out of bounce.

Speaker 3 (02:05:47):
And my thought was when they showed the replay, is
that his knee actually came in bound.

Speaker 2 (02:05:52):
Either way. They've given them two seconds and they're gonna
lie up fifty eight.

Speaker 3 (02:05:56):
So it's a fifty eight yard field goal attempt to
send this game and over time to kick us upcot
it's straight.

Speaker 2 (02:06:04):
It's god fifty Hang on what any smelling salts right now?

Speaker 4 (02:06:10):
Hang on a second, though, Imagine how bad you need
to be as a sideline and a booth to not
catch that.

Speaker 2 (02:06:18):
The refs decided to run the clock.

Speaker 3 (02:06:22):
Yeah, I mean apparently they found out in time. Gannon
was saying I've been calling time out and they gave
it to him. They put two seconds back on the clock,
and then Ryland hits.

Speaker 4 (02:06:32):
The My question is, though, was the plan to call
the time out and then to run one more play
and then rush your field goal team on. Or was
your plan to allow the clock to wind down to
two seconds and have a fifty eight yard try.

Speaker 3 (02:06:47):
I don't think that was the game plan. But because
the clock had run out, they remember they still had
the one time out.

Speaker 2 (02:06:52):
Right, that's my point. So did they miss it and
then and they called it with two seconds left? Lutely absurd?
That is terrible clock manager. Well, they got a repriet
because Ryland hits the fifty eight yard field goals. So
we're going to go to overtime in that game. Panthers
and Cardinals tied at the thirty.

Speaker 8 (02:07:11):
One of the most exciting games this Yeah, today, this
has been what a comeback?

Speaker 2 (02:07:15):
Crazy all right? Speaking of exciting, the Commanders have the
ball back now, trailing the Eagles thirty to twenty eight.
They do not have the ball because I Jen was
through an interception. Oh god, it was tipped up in
a bit of a jump.

Speaker 6 (02:07:27):
If Dariusly didn't pick it off, somebody else was going to.
That was a terrible decision by Jaden Daniels.

Speaker 2 (02:07:31):
So Jade and Daniels four touchdown passes on the day,
but the interception there.

Speaker 3 (02:07:36):
Eagles now have the ball two fifty three to go.
The Commanders have two timeouts and the two minute warning.
But if the uh, well that that didn't go well,
Barkley gets snowed under for a loss. UH So they're
going to run some clock here. But again, the Commanders,
if they can get away with nothing more than a

(02:07:57):
field goal, would only be down five and least have
a chance.

Speaker 4 (02:08:02):
And it looks like the Cardinals are going to get
the football first in overtime. It looks like the Panthers
just lost the toss.

Speaker 2 (02:08:12):
If I saw it correctly, it looked like the official
signaled that it will be Cardinals' ball. But we'll see.
Maybe I missed it. Let's put it this way. That
game is drunk.

Speaker 4 (02:08:22):
I have no idea how the Cardinals kicker just bailed
them out. If that was four clock management, good on Gannon,
I guess for catching it and then calling the time
out with two seconds left. If that was the plan, man,
you gotta have some onions to put the game in
a kicker's hands with a fifty eight yarder in front
of him.

Speaker 3 (02:08:40):
First of all, when he was talking to the official,
it said zero yeah, and then all of a sudden
magically two seconds came up on the clock for them
to attempt that fifty eight yard field goals. So I
want to figure out what exactly happened there.

Speaker 8 (02:08:52):
I think I see that's like if you knew the
clock was running, you would have called time out there,
Like this isn't just like some well like that's on,
that's on the judge. I feel like part of that's
on the judge is not making that clear that there's
a question whether or not he's out of bounds or
even if they're going to review.

Speaker 7 (02:09:08):
It or not.

Speaker 3 (02:09:08):
All right, So here's whether we are with the Eagles
and Commanders right now. Eagles have a third and five.
They're at the Commander's twenty two yard line. Obviously, if
they can get a first down here, that would pretty
much cemit it. The Commanders have one time out remaining
and the two minute warning, but the Eagles love to
get a first down right here. I mean, do you

(02:09:30):
throw the ball? I mean, do you you know to
give him a free time out if it's incomplete? What
exactly do do you do? I mean, obviously the Eagles
are in field goal range. Picket is going to throw
the ball and it's dropped Davante Smith.

Speaker 2 (02:09:43):
Oh the ball.

Speaker 4 (02:09:45):
That is a first down and then some if he
just holds onto it. He heard footsteps and started turning
up field before he secured this one.

Speaker 3 (02:09:54):
The perfect pass by Picket and DeVante Smith drops the ball. Well,
that's gonna be field old time for the Eagles right now.
By the way, Sakuon Barkley one hundred and fifty yards
rushing in this game. That means he's over eighteen hundred yards,
so he's still alive for that single season record of
Eric Dickerson.

Speaker 2 (02:10:12):
With a couple of big games. I would actually go
for this. I don't think I would kick the field goal.

Speaker 3 (02:10:15):
Well, it's a forty yarder for Jake Elliott right now.
This would give them a five point lead. It's a
bad snap and he oh got it, he got it.
The barely got it.

Speaker 6 (02:10:26):
The Commanders have started it like their own forty I
think on every drive this this game, because they kickoffs
are nothing good.

Speaker 2 (02:10:31):
I would have just I was just gone for it.
At least they'd be a little bit deeper. All right,
Well that five points, well, now, at least a field goal,
can't you know? Okay, Well, the Commanders still have one time.
That's the two minute warning. So that's off the board.

Speaker 3 (02:10:44):
So uh, they'll have one time out and the ball
down five h and they need obviously a touchdown there
overtime Cardinals and Panthers.

Speaker 2 (02:10:53):
Meanwhile, the Vikings and Seahawks game is underway. It's kicked off.
We're already four minutes into the action.

Speaker 13 (02:10:59):
Hold.

Speaker 8 (02:11:00):
Last time I looked up, the Vikings are about to
give the ball away, and now the Vikings out the
ball back.

Speaker 4 (02:11:04):
I don't Yeah, they're on a seven seven play drive here.
They've traversed forty one yards Donald fourth down?

Speaker 2 (02:11:11):
Did I just not watched? They had a fourth and
three and a fourth and three. Uh, it was an
eight yard pass Sam Donald of Hockinson.

Speaker 4 (02:11:21):
So Donald was found. Addison got inside the twenty yard
line here. So the Vikings knocking on the door early
in Seattle against the Seahawks.

Speaker 2 (02:11:29):
All right, big finishes coming up. Keep it here. This
is Red Zone Radio. All right, we got the Commanders
touched down. Commanders, Oh my do red Zone Radio live
from the ti rag dot com studios and.

Speaker 4 (02:11:46):
Jade and Daniels has just thrown his fifth touchdown pass
it he manufactures a drive gets him down to the
five yard line, has to spike the football to stop
the clock. With seven seconds on the he throws an
absolute arrow to Jamison Crowder and they take the lead
thirty four to thirty.

Speaker 2 (02:12:07):
This is why you listen to red Zone radio because
we were on it right as we come out of it.
Much ten seconds to go and the Eagles are in
deep trouble. Now lead a foard to thirty three with
six seconds to go in regulation.

Speaker 3 (02:12:23):
By the way, Commanders, we'll go for the two point conversions.
So right now it's thirty four to thirty three Commanders
over the Eagles. But what an unbelievable last drive for
this rookie Jayden Daniels five touchdown passes on the day.

Speaker 2 (02:12:37):
The two point conversion is good.

Speaker 3 (02:12:40):
So the Commander's now thirty six thirty three over the Eagles,
six seconds left.

Speaker 4 (02:12:46):
Wiez, this is just bullyball at this point they get
in the gun. Look at this throw, by the way,
so they're playing the replay here right, they're showing.

Speaker 2 (02:12:55):
They spike the ball with ten seconds to go to
stop the clock. They're showing two deep coverage here from
the hold off the Eagles. Jamison Crowder runs this deep
drag route, splitting the safeties and when I tell you
the margin for err with this pass was a two
yard window that closed in an instant. Jaden Daniels had

(02:13:15):
one spot to throw that football to get it to
Crowder in time before his feet left the back of
the end zone, and he put it on an absolute
frozen rope to Crowder. That is bit.

Speaker 4 (02:13:28):
I mean, that is what you're talking about when you
do the draft evaluation process. Can the guy handle the
moment that's the moment you draft them for.

Speaker 2 (02:13:37):
Well, obviously Commanders win, We get him to ten and five,
and am I right?

Speaker 3 (02:13:41):
Does that clinch? Who a playoff spot for the Commanders
today with a win? If not a be awfully close,
but unbelievable. And by the way they're showing a replay,
the right tackle jumped and missed it twice.

Speaker 2 (02:13:56):
I missed it. The right tackle clearly jump and they
missed it.

Speaker 8 (02:14:02):
There might be tension in here because the Lions finally
have breathing room now on the one seed.

Speaker 3 (02:14:08):
Yeah, so the kickoff for the Commanders right now and
again for the Eagles, not much they can do other
than return this kick and watch the clock run out.

Speaker 8 (02:14:18):
So that is thought let's get some laterals. Let's go,
let's let's get trigger, let's get falls on the ground.
Come on, let's take it, and it's recovered.

Speaker 2 (02:14:31):
And that is the game.

Speaker 3 (02:14:32):
So the Commanders come away with a thirty six thirty
three win and the Eagles fall to twelve and three,
taking them out of that tie for best record in
the NFC with the Lions winning earlier today against the Bears,
and of course, uh the Vikings right now on the
field taking on the Seahawks. So but yeah, the replay

(02:14:53):
clearly showed the right tackle jumped and it wasn't called.

Speaker 4 (02:14:57):
Do you want to hear what happens? Pathways there? So
there are three different pathways to the playoffs this weekend
for the Commanders. Yes, in the first scenario of Commanders
beat the Eagles, that along with an Atlanta Falcons loss
or a tie against the New York Giants and a
Los Angeles Rams lost.

Speaker 2 (02:15:16):
Or tie against the Jets, they both won.

Speaker 4 (02:15:18):
Okay, next one, Commanders win and Falcons lost tie and
a Rams lost tie that did not have okay, okay,
next one, Commanders win, Falcons lost tie.

Speaker 2 (02:15:29):
And Seahawks loss their tie. As soon as they said
Falcons Falcons won.

Speaker 4 (02:15:33):
Okay, Commanders tie a Falcons loss, which is alreadygame, it's over.

Speaker 2 (02:15:39):
They have not so they have not yet clinch. They
have not clinched.

Speaker 3 (02:15:42):
The Falcons are still breathing, is what they're saying right now,
as are the Rams. All right, So the Rams, by
the way, still leading. In the NFC West overtime between
the Cardinals and Panthers is still going on, and the
Cardinals actually have to punt right now. They have fourth
and twenty five at their own seven. I would say
that's a punting situation. We're running out of time though.

(02:16:03):
We only have four and a half minutes left in
this overtime. So could we see a tie?

Speaker 2 (02:16:08):
And we could see a tie and it has happened before.

Speaker 3 (02:16:11):
Folks, doesn't happen a lot Vikings by the way, with
the early seven to nothing lead. As we mentioned earlier,
Sam Donald with that touchdown pass to Jordan Addison, Seahawks
right now, well, with the Rams winning today, has put
it this way. Seahawks have to win this game, and
right now they have eight total yards.

Speaker 2 (02:16:29):
Would this be the latest tie of the season since
they switched the rules up the rules, you don't see
many ties this late in the year. Yes, that seems yeah,
I think because I don't think we've seen a single
tie this year.

Speaker 8 (02:16:43):
I think there was a Lions Steelers tie in like
I want to see Week twelve.

Speaker 2 (02:16:49):
You do remember a couple of years ago, Remember the
couple of years ago with the Raiders and Chargers. If
they ended in a tie, they both make it.

Speaker 3 (02:16:55):
And the Raiders for the field goal and got it,
and the Steelers and up in the playoffs. But technically,
had they tied that game, they both would have made
the playoffs and the Raiders like, screw you to the Charge.

Speaker 8 (02:17:07):
I remember being on with you guys. We were talking
about are they just gonna kneel out overtime or and
they did.

Speaker 2 (02:17:12):
It, and they didn't. They went for the field goal.
Knock the Chargers out, is what they did. All right.
So the Cardinals punning right now to midfield. So the
Panthers are going to get some really good field goal
field position as they'll start.

Speaker 3 (02:17:25):
On the forty eight yard line of the Cardinals. All right,
So we got four minutes to go in the overtime there,
all right. Wow, A lot of excitement, guys.

Speaker 2 (02:17:34):
The end of that game between the Commanders and the
Eagles unreal and Jade and Daniels real deal man five touchdowns.

Speaker 4 (02:17:45):
Literally, since the result came in, Bo has been on
his phone. I think he's feverishly pounding away at his
virtual keyboard and just hitting up every Eagles message.

Speaker 2 (02:17:55):
No, no, right now, he just signed up for Rams
season tickets for next year.

Speaker 6 (02:18:00):
I just are we going to talk about the turnovers
or not Daniels, I'm so tired of Jane Dane.

Speaker 2 (02:18:04):
Are we going to talk about Nick Sirianni settling on
some field goals?

Speaker 3 (02:18:07):
Are we going to talk about the officials blind to
a blatant Well, yeah, but the lingo procedure need.

Speaker 6 (02:18:13):
They need Jade and Daniels to do good. So they
have a rookie in the playoffs, something to manufacture a.

Speaker 2 (02:18:18):
Couple of games just underway right now. Bill's Patriots, we
got Jaguars, Raiders, forty nine Ers, Dolphins. By the way,
the weather in Buffalo is cold. Could we get an
update on the weather in Buffalo right now?

Speaker 9 (02:18:32):
For this?

Speaker 4 (02:18:33):
Well, that's ridiculous. It is usually remarkably mild in late
December and Buffalo.

Speaker 2 (02:18:38):
Let me see, what is the current temperature currently? Fifteen degrees?
If you give me a second. I could get you
the degrees.

Speaker 8 (02:18:45):
Give me fifty seven. No precipitation though, So yeah, I
mean this is this is fine for Buffalo. Get your
zinc oxide in your tank tops.

Speaker 2 (02:18:53):
My goodness, yes, Buffalo weather right now is but it
feels like twelve. You think you can tell the difference, rich,
But twelve and fifteen you're like, I know it says
fifteen that No, this feels like twelve.

Speaker 8 (02:19:05):
Yeah, I've got the weather from High Marks Stadium itself,
thirteen degrees fahrenheit with fifty four percent humility, humidity, wind
only one mile an hour. Maybe we'll see that pickup tonight.

Speaker 2 (02:19:18):
Okay, I know this when I've been you know, like
out in whether when he gets to that cold every
degree it drops you can feel it. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:19:28):
Like there's a big difference between twenty degrees and fifteen degrees,
A huge difference.

Speaker 2 (02:19:33):
I mean, just think about a hot tub.

Speaker 4 (02:19:35):
You get into a hot tub at like one oh two,
you're like, ooh, that's a hot hot tub.

Speaker 2 (02:19:39):
You get into it at one oh six you're like,
that hot tub's too hot.

Speaker 6 (02:19:43):
I actually have an important update that makes this whole
afternoon worth it. Okay, per Adam Schefter, the forty nine
Ers and Cowboys have officially been eliminated from playoff contention.

Speaker 2 (02:19:51):
Wow wow, So that makes thank you you saved us alight.
So that is it with the Manners win.

Speaker 3 (02:20:01):
Even though they don't clinch a playoff spot, their win
eliminates congratulate Cowboys the Carolina Panthers.

Speaker 2 (02:20:11):
Into the episode Cuba Harbord, he puts the dagger in
the hearts of Arizona suba missile crisis strikes again.

Speaker 3 (02:20:22):
By the way, Cuba ends up with a big Is
that the Cardinals. No, it doesn't because they are at
they have seven wins. The uh let's see, they would
go to seven and eight.

Speaker 2 (02:20:35):
The Packers have nine. I think the Packers, but they
think they're still alive in their own division. That's true.
It's not about the wild with the Rams win. The
Rams got to nine wins Cardinals. Let me look nine
and six. No, because Cardinals still, No, they're not eliminated.

(02:20:56):
I don't think they're eliminated. What about the tie breakers? Hmmm,
I don't know how the tie breakers go.

Speaker 3 (02:21:02):
I mean, technically they could still tie for the division
when they even have a game coming up against the Rams,
so they have a head to head.

Speaker 2 (02:21:10):
By the way, chewa.

Speaker 3 (02:21:11):
Hubbard in this game, one hundred and fifty two yards,
two touchdowns. How many huge games do we have with
running backs today?

Speaker 2 (02:21:16):
I mean, unbelievable. It's been that kind of day for
one hundred yard rushers.

Speaker 3 (02:21:20):
By the way, James Cooper had one hundred and seventeen
yards rushing. Our James Connor, excuse me, had one hundred
and seventeen yards for the Cardinals.

Speaker 2 (02:21:26):
Actually, hold on.

Speaker 8 (02:21:27):
We might need to wait for these standings to update, because,
for whatever reason, the NFL standings are giving the Yes,
it's just showed on screen, the Cardinals are limited from playoffs.
I think the problem is you're looking at like ESPN
and they're.

Speaker 4 (02:21:40):
Giving Juba Hubbard chewba Hubbard just ended the Cardinals season
with that walk off.

Speaker 2 (02:21:45):
Look at that. Let's go the Cardinals, just as we
always drew it up. Yep, yep, we knew it. We
knew it all along.

Speaker 4 (02:21:53):
The Panthers would put an end to these frisky Cardinals
from the desert.

Speaker 2 (02:21:58):
I know what's so funny is is that they did
have this game as a tie in the standings. I
will yeah, I just said that thank you for listening.
I know I was looking at him like that can't
be right. Why I knew the game was over.

Speaker 8 (02:22:11):
I saw that immediately because as soon as I saw
like a third number, I'm like, oh, I will say.

Speaker 2 (02:22:16):
This they do it.

Speaker 4 (02:22:17):
I mean, this is this is one of those moments
for the Carolina Panthers. Now, I mean, I'm not going
to overstate things, but the Cardinals are not a bad
football team. And the Carolina Panthers, they put it to
the Chiefs earlier this season. Yes, Bryce Young has been
playing better football. I mean, okay, you're picking them to

(02:22:38):
win the Super Bowl next year. I'm gonna say I'm
not gonna say that the Carolina Panthers have like the
brightest of futures that.

Speaker 3 (02:22:44):
I want you on the record right now saying Carolina
will make the playoffs next year.

Speaker 4 (02:22:47):
Let's hear I think the Carolina Panthers, considering the division
they play in, thank you are a playoff team in
twenty twenty five.

Speaker 3 (02:22:55):
To first guy in the books, Let's find out what
is trending right now. Once again, we're live from the
tie IRAQ dot Com studios. Monci By the way, this
is really bizarre in our picks right.

Speaker 2 (02:23:10):
So I picked the Commanders to win, but I also
picked the under, which means that I end up with
zero points.

Speaker 10 (02:23:17):
Correct.

Speaker 2 (02:23:18):
You picked the Eagles on as a loss and the over,
and so you actually get a point correct.

Speaker 3 (02:23:23):
So even though I got the right team to win,
because we get a point on the over under to
be right, but if we're wrong, I end up losing.

Speaker 2 (02:23:32):
Even though I picked up Commanders, You guys made this
unnecessarily confused. I wanted to be different, and that's all
we are trying.

Speaker 9 (02:23:39):
But it's funny is that he I was like, I'm
taking the over, and he laughed like immediately was like, ah, I'll.

Speaker 2 (02:23:44):
Take the under, like he thought I was crazy.

Speaker 3 (02:23:48):
I picked the Commanders to win the game, and I
took the under, which was obviously a big blowout over.

Speaker 2 (02:23:53):
You thought I was crazy.

Speaker 3 (02:23:54):
So even though I got the right team, I end
up losing. It's true, that's only me, only I can
do that.

Speaker 9 (02:23:58):
And also remember yesterday they were like, oh, what games
are gonna watch?

Speaker 10 (02:24:01):
I was like, I don't know.

Speaker 9 (02:24:01):
Some teams might want to play spoiler, and that's what
happened today. A lot of these games, like the Panthers
wanting to play spoiler.

Speaker 2 (02:24:09):
What a great game. I couldn't believe it ended.

Speaker 9 (02:24:12):
I do have Cuba Hubbard in one of my fantasy leagues, so.

Speaker 2 (02:24:14):
Thank you, Cuba. Oh yes, listen, I Bo gave me
a bottle of tequila.

Speaker 9 (02:24:20):
The minute I'm done here, I'm celebrating because there's no
way I'm losing in fantasy right now with all the
players going off right now, the game's going on. Sam
Darnold connected with Jordan Addison already. For the Vikings, we're
beating the.

Speaker 2 (02:24:32):
Seahawks seven zero. Late in the first quarter, Drake May
threw a touchdown pass, but I don't know to who.
Kaysham BOUDI I think is who.

Speaker 9 (02:24:38):
He threw it to seven zero against the Bills in
Buffalo early in the first quarter. Jags Raiders forty nine Ers, Dolphins.
They just got going and they are scoreless. So let's
talk about the Lions because they have the most wins
in a season in franchise history thirteen wins.

Speaker 2 (02:24:54):
After topping the Bears thirty four.

Speaker 9 (02:24:56):
To seventeen, Jared Goff completed twenty three of thirty two
passes for three hundred and thirty six yards in three touchdowns,
including an eighty two yard touchdown pass to Jamison Williams,
who ended with five catches one hundred and forty three
yards as well. The Commanders they come back. They beat
the Eagles thirty six to thirty three. Now, Philadelphia did
lose Jalen Hurts due to a concussion in the first quarter,

(02:25:18):
but Jaden Daniels threw his fifth touchdown pass to Jamison
Crowder to take the league with six seconds left. He
ended twenty four of thirty nine for two hundred and
fifty seven yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions. Also, the
Commander has had five turnovers.

Speaker 2 (02:25:31):
The Lions had five turnovers not long.

Speaker 9 (02:25:33):
Agoing one, so another example you can have five turnovers
and still win the game. The Falcons they crushed the
Giants thirty four to seven. Bjeon Robinson twenty two carries
ninety four yards and two touchdowns. Michael Pennick Junior and
his debut. He was eighteen of twenty seven for two
hundred and two yards and one interception. Drew Locke did
throw two pick sixes in this one. The Bengals outscored

(02:25:54):
the Browns twenty four to six. Joe Burrow twenty three
of twenty two hundred and fifty two yards and three touchdowns.
The Colts hold on to beat the Titans thirty eight
to thirty. Jonathan Taylor twenty nine carries, two hundred and
eighteen yards and three touchdowns, a sixty five yard rushing
touchdown and a seventy yard rushing touchdown. The Rams defeated
the Jets.

Speaker 2 (02:26:13):
Nineteen to nine.

Speaker 9 (02:26:14):
Kyra and Williams a lot of running backs twenty three carries,
one hundred and twenty two yards and one touchdown, and Yeah,
the Panthers day just beat the Cardinals in overtime thirty.

Speaker 2 (02:26:23):
Six to thirty. Arizona has been eliminated from the playoffs.

Speaker 9 (02:26:26):
Bryce Young seventeen to twenty six, one hundred and fifty
six yards and two touchdowns. Chewba Hubbard had twenty five carries,
one hundred and fifty two yards and two touchdowns, including
the game.

Speaker 2 (02:26:34):
Winner in overtime. Guys, what a day.

Speaker 10 (02:26:39):
What a day.

Speaker 2 (02:26:40):
And the good news is it's only going to get
better over these the next couple of weeks. I know,
all right, we're gonna take a look at the playoff
picture in a second quicker minder right after the show.
The podcast is going up, so if we miss any

where we get your podcast and see this show posted

(02:27:02):
right after we get off the air.

Speaker 3 (02:27:04):
So I'm looking at the NFC right now, guys, and
it would appear that the wildcard slots are set.

Speaker 10 (02:27:14):
We know this.

Speaker 3 (02:27:15):
The Lions, the Vikings, and the Packers are all gonna
make the postseason. You know, obviously, either the Vikings or
the Lions are gonna win the division, the loser will
be a wild card. Now appears the Seahawks are locked
in as a wildcard team. So really the only thing
up for grabs is who's gonna win the NFC West
and who's gonna win the NFC South.

Speaker 2 (02:27:37):
So on the Rams, it's either gonna be the Rams
or Seahawks. And it's either gonna be the Buccaneers or
the Falcons. Wait, hold on, you say the Seahawks. That's right,
Rams or Seahawks to win the NFC West. Oh, to
win the because I thought you said wildcard.

Speaker 3 (02:27:50):
Okay, no, no, no, I said, the only thing that's
remaining is who's gonna win the NFC West. Who's gonna
win the NFC South, Yeah, ras Seahawks.

Speaker 2 (02:28:00):
Like the NFC North at this point is basically a one,
but all those teams are in the playoffs. I'm just
talking about who's going to make the playoffs. Chris is
all over the map here following one. I mean, I'm
following along with the math is hurting my head. I'm
not smart, and it's you know, he's more of like
a paint by number guy.

Speaker 3 (02:28:16):
Like I said, three teams out of the NF in
the playoff, Yes, exactly, all right. So that's that's that's
basically where we are on the NFC side AFC side. Again,
it is not done yet. With the Colts winning, Bengals winning,
Miami still has to play.

Speaker 10 (02:28:36):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (02:28:36):
As far as the Broncos are concerned, Chargers have the
tie break over the Broncos on head to head, but
the Broncos at Cincinnati and all of a sudden, you're
like whoa, whoa, whoa, And then they have the Chiefs
at home the last games.

Speaker 2 (02:28:51):
So the Broncos are in a good spot, but not perfect.

Speaker 8 (02:28:56):
Didn't even did you mention the Colts, who currently have it,
I believe have a tiebreaker over the Bengals and they
pick up a huge win today.

Speaker 3 (02:29:04):
Right, So you got the Colts, Bengals, and the Dolphins. Yeah,
Dolphins are still alive. Everyone else in the AFC has
been eliminated.

Speaker 4 (02:29:12):
Here's the benefit for the Broncos down the stretch of
the season. The Bengals do not play defense, so that helps.
The other benefit is you're going against the Chiefs a
final game of the season. I mean, are you kidding me?
The Chiefs are going to rest everybody, so that that
could be an easy win.

Speaker 2 (02:29:32):
It could be.

Speaker 9 (02:29:32):
I like it.

Speaker 3 (02:29:32):
You're absolutely right. I mean, the Chiefs if they the
Chargers home field throughout.

Speaker 4 (02:29:38):
The Chargers actually have the tougher draw against the Patriots
and the Raiders because the Patriots.

Speaker 2 (02:29:43):
I truly feel like those are two teams that are
going to play. Aren't those both home games?

Speaker 10 (02:29:48):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (02:29:48):
Well no, no, both of us are road games, both
road games.

Speaker 4 (02:29:51):
Yeah right, So you're playing in New England your second
to last game of the season. You're playing at Vegas,
your your last game of the season, Richie.

Speaker 2 (02:29:59):
People will still accuse you of being a homer for
the Patriots. Yeah, I don't understand what any three and
eleven this year.

Speaker 4 (02:30:05):
They're absolutely dreadful. My point though, is the Bengals may
actually be worse. So the Broncos have an easier path
than the Chargers. I think, well, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (02:30:16):
The Bengals are still alive, and if you got a
home game and you're still alive, I would imagine Joe
Burrow's gonna bring it. So yeah, there's I mean, is
bo Nick's gonna outthrow?

Speaker 3 (02:30:26):
I mean, I'm sure Denver will get points in that
game against that lousy Broncos or Bengals defense, but I
don't know.

Speaker 2 (02:30:33):
So that's where we basically stand right now, with two
weeks ago.

Speaker 3 (02:30:36):
Obviously a lot of games still to be played here
today just updates you on the games that are going
on right now. Minnesota still has that seven to nothing
lead on the road against the Seahawks. The Patriots are
beating the Bills seven to nothing. See this is what
I was saying, and Drake May is lighting them up.
He's two for three for thirty six yards in a

(02:30:59):
score Josh Allen MVP. I don't think so, one for
three five yards. Drake May has a passer ratio one
forty seven. Josh Allen has a passer rating of forty two.

Speaker 2 (02:31:10):
So are you projecting Drake may to be the NFL's
MVP in twenty twenty five?

Speaker 4 (02:31:14):
Are you going to state that fact right now? Steve
Hartman on Aaron be the first to say it.

Speaker 2 (02:31:19):
And what I'm gonna say is, Bills win this game
by at least three touchdowns. Hey, that is my prediction.
I'm gonna go out on the limb and when the
dust settles today in Buffalo, all right, there is no
dust when it's fifteen degrees, by the way, that is
the kiss of death. Steve Hartman saying You're gonna win
by three touchdowns. Matriods final score thirty five to three.
The Rake may Thos are four touchdowns. Ariots are about

(02:31:43):
to have the game?

Speaker 3 (02:31:43):
Why is the Jaguars? What do you think the mindset
is with the three and eleven Jaguars on the road
against the two and twelve Raiders? What's the mindset in
that stadium at lead to it?

Speaker 2 (02:31:53):
Right now? I mean if there has to be at
least a dozen now, I'm gonna say two dozen or
more players with their their flights already booked to Aruba.

Speaker 3 (02:32:03):
Yeah, I mean kay Mac Jones eight and O'Connell matchup today.

Speaker 4 (02:32:08):
It is I mean, it has been such a disastrous
season for the Raiders. Let's let's just rehash for a second.
They start this season with Devonte Adams, he leaves to
go to the Jets. That's how bad of a situation
it is.

Speaker 2 (02:32:21):
For the one bright spot, obviously, it has been Brock Bowers, who,
by the way, first catch today thirty two yards. He's incredible.

Speaker 4 (02:32:26):
So so the the rookie tight end is going to
smash rookie tight end records and we've seen.

Speaker 2 (02:32:32):
You know, he's gonna break Who's Mike Dicka? Oh my god.

Speaker 3 (02:32:36):
So Mike Dika came into the NFL in nineteen sixty
one with the Bears tight ends like didn't even exist,
Like he literally created the position, the modern tight end position.
He had over a thousand yards receiving in a fourteen
game season. That record has been on the books for
rookie tight ends ever since.

Speaker 2 (02:32:52):
That's wild.

Speaker 4 (02:32:52):
Yeah, Bowers is gonna he's going to knock that one
out of the park. Yeah, He's been incredible this season
and really the only bright spot for the Raiders. And
then you look at the other side of this matchup,
the Jacksonville Jaguars to start the season, shot Con their
owner literally said, I think we have the best roster
the Jaguars have ever had in the history of this franchise.

Speaker 2 (02:33:12):
They're three and eleven. Yeah, three games left to play.
How's that working for Doug Peterson? It's not going smoothly.

Speaker 12 (02:33:18):
All right.

Speaker 2 (02:33:19):
On the other side, we'll get you caught up on
those games. Also gets you ready for the Sunday night battle.
And oh that's right, we got Monday night football as well.
We got it all for you. This is Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 11 (02:33:31):
Ten seconds ago, second of goal to ten, snapped the
tangles Eagle freak.

Speaker 10 (02:33:35):
Four clogs football from.

Speaker 13 (02:33:46):
The ones on that.

Speaker 10 (02:33:51):
This is absolutely talk big about.

Speaker 9 (02:33:57):
Kid behind three.

Speaker 10 (02:34:01):
One A what a cat.

Speaker 2 (02:34:05):
That's been one hundred Washing Commanders ready on network as
the Commanders come from behind to beat the Eagles thirty
six thirty three. But that wasn't the only exciting finish.
Here's the snap to give the Hobbard over the right
show clicks a.

Speaker 12 (02:34:17):
Tackle ten ft high step touchdown.

Speaker 2 (02:34:21):
Shuba Hubbard had the Panthers win it overtime on game
winning twenty one yard run by Shuba Hubbard. Sweet Caroline
one more time in twenty twenty four.

Speaker 3 (02:34:36):
That's ninety nine seven the Fox Panthers Radio Network Panthers
e get out and overtime taking out the Arizona Cardinals.
All right, once again Red Zone Radio here Steve Harbin,
Rich Ormberger live from the tire Raq dot com studios.
So run, thank our crew today. We have the best
crew on the planets, simple as that. It starts them

(02:34:57):
on see of course giving us all the updates. He
seems to be celebrating right now. It must have been
a good day for your fantasy.

Speaker 9 (02:35:02):
I mean, I don't want to celebrate to her, and
it's hard not to right now, so just keeping the
vibes positive.

Speaker 2 (02:35:08):
You know, good, Yes, thank you very much for your general.

Speaker 3 (02:35:16):
Thank you, thank you, Chris, Chris place today as the
Lions not only get the win but the Eagles loss,
so the Allion very much uh in control right now
as far as best overall record and a bye in
the first round of the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (02:35:31):
And then hold on, hold on, I see, I see,
we've got something else to you.

Speaker 4 (02:35:34):
And also Chris gave us some wine we got so
it's a mold wine, a spiced wine. As a German,
I don't ask me to pronounce it wind winder lunch schloft.

Speaker 2 (02:35:45):
Yes, yeah, I honestly, the the lettering is very but
you heat it.

Speaker 8 (02:35:50):
It's a glu Yeah, No, no, it's it's mould wine.
It's spice. You you do heat it up a little bit.
You just put a little bit in like a cup.
And I'm anxious to try that some in a saucepan.

Speaker 2 (02:36:00):
Heat it up it is.

Speaker 8 (02:36:01):
It'll warm you nice and toasty, likes Christmas days where
it has been like what eighty degrees here in the
San Fernando Valley this past week. And then of course
bo with he was losing today securing his RAM season
tickets for twenty twenty five.

Speaker 6 (02:36:15):
Steve, it's just you are the pinnacle of professionalism in
the radio business. That commanders Booth my god. Yeah, I
mean they would all be wearing jerseys on the field.

Speaker 2 (02:36:24):
Yeah, I mean, those guys sound excited. They sounded like
they were trying to guys, trying to capture the moment.
I mean, you know, you know Vin Scully would never
do that. As all I'm saying, no, no, well then
was the best of the best of the best of
the best, said they're telling me Vin wouldn't be shouting

(02:36:48):
over the crowd noise to deliver the first of.

Speaker 3 (02:36:52):
All, he would He had enough discipline and lack of
ego to let the moment.

Speaker 2 (02:36:59):
Breathe Yeah, yeah, Vin was the best.

Speaker 4 (02:37:02):
And anybody doesn't know this legendary play by play voice
for the La Dodgers for years and years and years, Vinscal.
Everybody should know Vinscal if you don't look him round
over sixty years. He delivered some of the greatest moments
in baseball history during his time.

Speaker 2 (02:37:17):
And you're absolutely right.

Speaker 4 (02:37:18):
He was better at finding the pauses and allowing the
environment to speak for itself than any other play by
play voice.

Speaker 2 (02:37:27):
Maybe yeah, that's you know, as some of the likes
to talk a lot, and both Rich and I are
really good at talking. If you notice that, I mean
we battle for every second. We love it of airtime.

Speaker 3 (02:37:37):
VI Gains and Seahawks are tied at seven. Gino Smith
is off to a pretty good start right now, seven
to nine eighty yards. He threw a touchdown pass early
in this game, so seven to seven right now. Patriots
not only are leading the Bills seven nothing, they have
a third and two of the Buffalo thirteen yard line.

Speaker 2 (02:37:56):
So the Patriots.

Speaker 3 (02:37:57):
After I predicted that the Bills would win this game
by at least three touchdowns, it looks like the Patriots
are ready to blow out the Bills today in frigid Buffalo.

Speaker 2 (02:38:05):
Oh my goodness. And oh no, they're gonna say it's
a false start or are they gonna call it against
the defense. One of the Patriots or I guess it
was the Patriots center snapped the football, but he did
it early because one of the Buffalo Bills players was
in the neutral zone.

Speaker 4 (02:38:22):
So they call encroachment on the Bills. They convert for
a first down on the five yard penalty.

Speaker 2 (02:38:29):
Wow, all right, one second to go in the first quarter.

Speaker 3 (02:38:32):
Here this is Drake May was not ready for that snap,
but it was already off side encroachment against the Buffalo Bill.
So first and goal at the Buffalo eight yard line,
and the Patriots trying to shock the world. Obviously, a
Bill's lost today and that would be it. The Chiefs
would clinch the number one overall seat.

Speaker 2 (02:38:53):
Yeah, that's exactly correct. I'll tell you that is the
NFL in a nutshell.

Speaker 4 (02:38:58):
You could have the PAM out of nowhere, eliminate a
team with playoff hopes like the Cardinals in overtime, and
you could have the Patriots essentially playing runer for the
Bills opportunity to take the one seed in the AFC.
All these teams are good, I realize, sometimes down years,
sometimes good years. Some teams stay at the top for longer,

(02:39:19):
some teams stay at the bottom. But all of these
teams have good players. Anybody can win on any given Saturday, Sunday,
you know, Monday night, Thursday night.

Speaker 2 (02:39:27):
It's incredible.

Speaker 3 (02:39:28):
Well again, you have seven playoff spots spots at each conference.
In the AFC, ten teams left for seven spots and
the NFC nine teams left for seven slots. So we
are getting down to the nitty gritty going into next week,
which will be week seventeen.

Speaker 2 (02:39:45):
Yeah, yeah, that's the NFL.

Speaker 3 (02:39:47):
By the way, we got Martin in today a lot
with Kerrie. They will continue.

Speaker 2 (02:39:52):
Keep it right here. This is Red Zone Radio.
