Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Oh, let's go stinking giants. Let's big boy, Let's go
Sunday night into a Monday morning. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays,
Happy Honah, happy holidays.
Speaker 3 (00:15):
Whatever you celebrate.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
I'm a Christmas guy, Arnie's a Christmas Hanukah guy. The
whole crew is here to celebrate with you, and I
would imagine what kind of typifies both of our holiday.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
Experience is a lot of fillings.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Now, I think you've got a few more than I
do this week, right, don't you want pretty much all week?
Speaker 3 (00:35):
No?
Speaker 1 (00:35):
No, no, no, just on Christmas with Bernie and that'll
be fun. The day after Christmas with Martin Weiss, and
uh sometime next week. I don't remember off that time.
I think it's you and me on New York. Oh yeah, yeah,
you and I are doing it. There you go.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
We get to ring in the New Year's together, and
then beyond that we'll have tons of football to talk about. Man,
who's Willard saying there's there is only one day without
football now until after the first of the year.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
That's pretty awesome, man.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
I love that.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
Now listen as we come to you live from the
ti rack dot Com studios. Tyrack dot com will help
you get there an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Tire rack dot com.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
The way tire buying should be all pleasantries and celebrations
and side Patrick's running the show. Mary's making sure that
we stay on the ones and twos, and of course
the sega is on updates. Arnie, I want to do
something a little bit different off the top. I want
to jump right to Roman numeral ten.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Oh well, wow, all the way to number.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
Ten, all the way to Roman numeral ten. Because did
you do a show yesterday?
Speaker 4 (01:40):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:40):
I did not. I wasn't on last night.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
I want to pay tribute to one of my favorite
baseball players off the top tonight. I know we've got
Week sixteen to recap. We have four very dull college
football games to recap. We got a really good smell.
We've got a game that's teetering on being a really
good Sunday night football game right now. Where the cap
he's just keep kicking field goals and the Buccaneers respond
(02:03):
by doing what kicking more field goals. Twenty six seventeen
with nine ten to go in the football game, Dallas
has it with a nine point lead. I love me
some Ricky Henderson though Arnie I didn't know he was sick.
I hated to see that he had passed and just
one of the all time great base dealers, clutch hitters, defenders,
(02:27):
and characters in Major League Baseball.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
Really sad to see that story over the weekend.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
It is. I mean, you really don't know how great
he was, especially obviously to the kids growing up. Now
if you will reckon, you have to really remember seeing
him play and then go back and look at his
stats and just truly one of a kind. Man. I
love the John Olerude story to you.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
Oh that's my favorite. That's my favorite. That's my favorite.
I know, I know the Harold Reynolds story started making
the rounds where Ricky called him after he won the
Stolen based title and Ricky told he would have sixty
by the All Star break because he.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
Was hurt that year.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
But my favorite was whenever he was talking to John
Olarude and told him I used to play with the
guy that wore a helmet when he was out in
the field, and John Wood goes, yeah, man, it was me.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
We were teammates last year. That means something I would say.
You know that there is something I would say.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
Okay, so not to because you and I could do this.
So I'm going to try to make sure we stay
on track here. We're never going to see a bass
stealer like that again in baseball, are we? No?
Speaker 1 (03:29):
Never like that because it's a lost art. It's something
that doesn't really need to be done anymore. You just
don't need to do it. You rely in the three
run homers. So the stolen bases, there was a lot
of great stole people could steal bases. If you want
to go back to Lou Brock or Vision Bowman or
I mean, my goodness, man, there was a lot of
(03:51):
guys that could steal bases back then.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
Do you know who the last player in Major League
Baseball was to steal one hundred bases in a season?
Speaker 3 (04:01):
No, I do not.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
Who is that I'm scrolling right now. I think it
was Vince Coleman in nineteen eighty seven.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
I was gonna say it could have been Vince Coleman.
That might be the answer that Ricky Ricky stole.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
Ricky stole one O eight with the A's and eighty three,
he had one thirty. In nineteen eighty two with the
A's he had one hundred and nineteen eighty and again,
to be clear, one hundred stolen bases does not happen
very often in Major League baseball.
Speaker 3 (04:25):
I mean, it just it just does.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
Maybe we should talk about that number being you know,
ninety or so, but you know, you look the last
few stolen base leaders in full seasons. Elie de la
Cruz has sixty seven. Last year, Acuna had seventy three.
In twenty twenty three, who was on the American League side,
the American League stolen base leader last year on he
had forty four stolen.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Baseses, I knows that.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
Well, yeah, it's not.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
Like we've had a lot of one hundred stolen based season.
Maybe that that number should be, you know, eighty or ninety.
But I was just really sad. And it wasn't just
the stolen bases. It was the personality he was. He
was fun man, played for a lot of teams too.
I had completely forgotten about the Los Angeles Dodger stint
that Ricky Henderson had.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
It was that was his last stop.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
You think before when you think of Ricky Anderson, though,
I always think of Oakland A's though, the first team
that comes to mind when you think of him.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
Absolutely, and he had let's see, I've got his wiki
up one, two, three. We had four different stints with
the A's wow when he was you know, there's always
those teams, Arnie. For those of us that are I'm
a gen xer, I think you're You're right on the
cusp of that. I know, I think the Saga is
a gen xer too. We could sit there and reel
(05:39):
off starting lineups for teams like the nineteen eighty two
Cardinals or the eighty eight Dodgers because we had to
memorize them, right. We had to memorize those teams because
we didn't have Wikipedia, we didn't have YouTube. You know,
we were we would be craving all the highlights and
we did not have the intro web.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
Baby.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
We had to memorize all this stuff, right. And I
just remember I never really got to see Ricky Anderson
play a lot because I was in Saint Louis.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
This was before interleague play.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
But I loved everything about him, and then as his
career progressed, you know that you'd have more than just
a baseball game, of the Week the eighties made some
runs in the playoffs. I just I love, I loved
Ricky Henderson man, and I was sad to see that
story this week.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
And what people don't understand. Yes, he had a lot
of stolen bases, but that wasn't the only thing about
Ricky Henderson's lifetime average of about two to eighty because
I do have his thing up. Also, almost three hundred
home runs and had over one thousand RBIs, So the
guy was really an offensive machine, good in the outfield,
just could do it all. He was just a really
good player and played a long time too. Chris, I
(06:41):
didn't know it was what twenty four years or something
to that effect that that's insane.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
Math has never been my strong suit. But his first
year was nineteen seventy nine and he retired in two
thousand and three. I mean, that's just that is over
years again. Another one of those runs that you just
won't see and made League Baseball again a Hall of
Famer inducting in two thousand and nine. He has the
record for career stolen bases, career runs, and stolen bases
(07:08):
in a single season. Rip to one of the Goats,
Ricky Henderson who passed away this weekend at the age
of sixty five.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
Now I'm going to be that guy. Did they said pneumonia?
Was he sick with? Sue?
Speaker 1 (07:20):
I did not know, See, I didn't know what he
passed away from. I didn't want to ask you. You said,
I didn't know he was sick. So yeah, I know
he was just out there. How long ago he was catching?
Speaker 3 (07:30):
Yeah, sir? Last year?
Speaker 1 (07:31):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (07:32):
Last year? Yeah. Yeah, sad stuff.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
So tonight we tip our cap to one of the
legends and we forged ahead talking about Week sixteen in
the NFL.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
With Arnie Spaniel. I'm christ Plank. Where coming to you?
Lie from the tirerack dot Com?
Speaker 1 (07:44):
Chris, I don't know. I'm just taking a guests off
the top of my head. Not too many people from
here on out are going to be Hall of Famers
from the Oakland A's are they? So? He? Maybe?
Speaker 3 (07:55):
Dude?
Speaker 2 (07:55):
I think really good. Well, I don't know if they'll ever.
McGuire's never going to get in, is he? Are we
ever gonna get.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
Oh no, no, you're right then, I take but I
would just assume him as a as a cardinal though,
or well.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
I mean, is he ever going to get in you
think so, like in ten years from now or something.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
We'll fight very much.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
Yeah, Well, I'll tell.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
You what, Arnie, I am had a blast watch in
the NFL today and it probably was one of the
more disgusting weeks of games that we really had. The
Red I'm sorry, look at me calling the Redskins the
Commander's Eagles. Game probably shouldn't have been that close if
Jalen Hurts doesn't get hurt. But now that obviously opens
up things in a lot of people's eyes. I mean, listen,
(08:41):
Arnie Spaniel, you know about quarterbacks with concussions better than anybody.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
You've experienced it this year.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
You know, I knew it right away when he got
I said right away, this guy's got a concussion. I
was shocked that he wanted to get back into the game,
and then they stopped him from getting into the game.
I told my wife, he's not getting back in the game.
He's got a concussion. Man, They're gonna have to keep
him out. And that's exactly what happened. That was that
(09:06):
was a big blow for them because at that point
it was fourteen nothing or was.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
It it was? It was fourteen to Zip and honestly,
then it was.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
The pick six or something like that against Picking.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
Philly was cooking. Man, We we got that game. I'm
I'm a I didn't get directed, I didn't get the
What am I trying to say?
Speaker 3 (09:25):
I didn't get the Sunday ticket this year?
Speaker 2 (09:26):
And I know that might be blasphemous to some of you,
but I got the red zone and then I count
on my local affiliate to give me the games. We
actually caught the r of my man Shady Sean for
twenty will take care of me with any link that.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
I need somehow.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
But we got that game for some reason today and
it was it was fourteen to zip, and you thought,
oh this is this is trouble Central. And to be fair,
he went down a Jalen Hurtz did right in the
middle of the drive that made it fourteen to zip.
I mean Picking, I think he'll let me pull it
up here real quick. Yeah, pick it through the touchdown
(10:00):
pass that made it fourteen to zip. But it's almost
as if everything kind of changed for Philadelphia.
Speaker 3 (10:06):
You could sense that everything went south.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
I mean, you know how much I pushed back against
the win probability, right, but I will use it in
whenever it helps any sort of argument that I have.
In the fourth quarter in the in the fourth quarter,
the game still had an eighty four percent you know,
winow probability for the Philadelphia Eagles. So wow, Washington keeps
finding a way, man that this is one hell of
(10:31):
a story. And you know, we'll get to the Jalen
Hurts injury here in like two seconds. But to go
from where they were the number two pick in the draft,
they bring in a new head coach, they get a
new quarterback, they revamp their offense, and an offense that honestly,
historically under Cliff Kingsbury kind of starts to, as my
brother in law would say, peter out in the regular
(10:52):
in the latter part of the regular season, kind of
starts to leak wil a little bit.
Speaker 3 (10:56):
But they're really good today.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
And hey, there's not going to be a note of
the injury in the record, right they're ten and six
and ten and five.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
Excuse me, and I don't know.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
I don't want Jane Daniels coming to my place to
play in a wild card game in the first round,
that's for sure.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
If you were thinking about the teams that have the
best futures for the next three to five years in
the NFL. They might be number one. Denver might be
right there number two with me Nicks the way he
looks that. Maybe some people may say the Bears with
Caleb Williams out there, I don't know who you would
put it four and five, but certainly their future looks right.
There's no doubt about that. And I love that some
(11:31):
of that stock, that's for sure.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
And for every game today that was as ugly as
the Bengals and the Browns, or the Lions and the Bears,
or if you got stuck watching that Falcons Giants game
at all, I completely forgot that game was going on.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
It's almost as if they.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
Went to it early in the red zone and they're like, Ah,
this thing is ugly, let's stay away from it. But
for all of those snoozers that we had, Arnie, that
we had, the Commanders and the Eagles, I know, the
Panthers and the Cardinals weren't really playing for anything, but
it was a fun game that went overtime. The Panthers
get their fourth win of the season. The Bills got
pushed a little bit more, a lot of bit more
(12:05):
than I think anyone thought that they would get pushed
and Josh Allen struggled a bit today. And then the
Viking Seahawks game was a really fun Gammy Gino throws
for three fourteen and they lose to the Minnesota Vikings.
I thought that the primetime Why, I say, look at
me what we fought about two weeks ago? I say
the primetime games. I thought the afternoon games were actually
pretty fun. Today, No, they were actually better.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
I was shocked at the at the Patriots game, they
get out to a fourteen nothing lead. I'm like, they're
not going to win this game, are they? And then
of course the Bills caught up and that was a struggle.
That's one of those games. We went into the locker
rooms and damn that he put up a fight the
whole damn game. That was horrible. And how about your
Raiders blowing the number one pick? So the I mean,
(12:47):
all we've gotten before the shows started were tweets about
how your Raiders win a meaningless game, and now I
have they pick number six in the draft instead of
one through five. Good luck to you, my friend.
Speaker 3 (12:58):
Well, can I push back that a bit? I don't
want to lose games.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
No, but it is a meaningless win against the Jaguar.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
I don't know they've lost ten in a row. I
don't care. Listen, Arnie Doe realizes.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
Everyone acts like it's done and it's signing, it's sealed,
and it's over.
Speaker 3 (13:14):
The Giants stink.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
The Giants are terrible, right, but somehow the Giants have
backed into two wins this season. I told you this
all along, man, I told you this the whole season.
I did not think the Raiders are gonna have a
top two or three pick in this draft because a
they played too hard and be their schedules set up
where they're gonna back into a win or two, right,
And that's exactly what happened.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
So I'm not mad, but I'm telling you what I
get it. I understand it.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
You could go back in time and say, well, if
the Jets wouldn't have won a game late, they might
have ended up with Trevor Lawrence instead of Zach Wilson,
and I think what you have. A couple of years ago,
the Texans did the same thing. But I don't know,
but I like to win. I don't care where I draft.
I mean, when was who was the last number one
overall back to win a super Bowl with a team
(14:02):
that picked them. I mean, it's it's it's been a minute, right.
Stafford won one, but he was taken by the Lions
and ended up winning with the Rams.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
But this is not even the difference of being the
number one or the number two. It's the difference between
number one and number six, which.
Speaker 3 (14:16):
For now is the draft tonight.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
Well it means you miss out on two quarterbacks as well.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
Again, is the draft tonight. That's what I'm saying. Shows,
That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
The shows tonight.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
Everyone's acting like they've got to walk up to the
podium tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
Y'all. We got two more games still to be played.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
Sobody tweets about that, so it's.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
Crazy, haha, sucks for you. I'm like, what are you
talking about? I mean, two of these teams play each
other that are in front of the Raiders right now,
so somebody's got to win that game. So I don't
think the Raiders are winning any of the last two games.
Speaker 3 (14:49):
So I don't know.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
You know this, I'm gonna probably the saga is not
gonna give it part of his Okay, updated breaking news,
but this is his breaking news. The Dolphins are making
the playoffs. I don't know if you know that.
Speaker 3 (15:03):
Okay, my whole good luck.
Speaker 1 (15:04):
I don't think everybody did go walk, but you can
be excited for me at least because you see Denver's
going to lose two games. They're gonna lose ad Cincinnati
and against Kansas City. The Chargers will lose one, whether
it's at the Patriots or against your Las Vegas Raiders.
The only problem I have is with the Colts having
to lose at the New York Giants, because I don't
(15:25):
think they're losing home against Jacksonville.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
Okay, you want to straighten them up there, Patrick.
Speaker 5 (15:29):
Yeah, So with that Arnie you said earlier on before
the show started, you even told me, look of the
Dolphins a playoff a percentage chance five percent.
Speaker 1 (15:39):
Chief, So I'm ahead of the curve, just like every
Mike Einstein Einstein, and so I know the last one
by the right, right, So I know ahead of ninety
five percent of the world. I know ahead of everybody else. Then,
really is what it is.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
But I don't understand how what do you mean?
Speaker 1 (16:01):
You're just everybody doesn't think they're going to make the
playoffs because they don't have a five percent chance. But already,
but I know they're going to make the playoffs. I
already figure they're.
Speaker 3 (16:10):
Not in control of their destiny. Even if they went
out by the way.
Speaker 1 (16:13):
They don't have to. Denver's going to will lose at
Cincinnati against Kansas City. That that's a Nune deal. And
I know people are yelling right now.
Speaker 3 (16:22):
Anything one game, you're done.
Speaker 1 (16:25):
Yeah yeah, but you see Kansas City, they're going to
have my home city. You know, we'll rest after Christmas,
so he'll have pretty time to play that last game.
The Chargers will lose one game, probably get the Patriots,
but Vegas will give them a tough game. Just the
Colts at the Giants is the one game that scares me.
That's the Dolphins already have won their last two games
(16:45):
at Cleveland against the Jets, also on the road. That's
win win, ding ding.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
So that's if the Colt, if the Giants beat the Colts,
is ever going to start yelling, ah see, you screwed
up the number one pick in the draft.
Speaker 3 (16:58):
Is the Colt.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
Always do that to They always choke at the end
of the year to cost themself a playoffs spot.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
You you know, that's you know that's gonna happen. Well, congratulations,
thank you, thank you.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
Who we play in.
Speaker 1 (17:11):
The first let me see who we'll play in the
first schedule?
Speaker 3 (17:14):
You think you figured right?
Speaker 1 (17:15):
I think it's Buffalo.
Speaker 3 (17:17):
You be what the two seven matchup? Yeah? There you go.
Hold on to the give knocked out the park? What
you mean?
Speaker 1 (17:26):
Yeah, let's go playoffs.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
This is some of the greatest waste of time ever.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
But what are you talking about? Why is the greatest
to stop it.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
And listening, I'll tell you what it is if you
put truth ceramone right now? This is such like fake
belief right now.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
No, it's not, it's not. I started thinking about it
before the show. I was looking up the schedule. I'm like,
you know what, that's all. That's all, that's all that
has to happen. The coach don't have to lose one
if tenver and the Chargers will lose their game. So
I feel like you getting loud It makes you like,
(18:03):
really like believe that your guys are gonna win. I've
talked myself into it.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
Yes, all right, So you want you want to know
the path, I've got the path.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
We'll tell you.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
I know the path.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
Oh you know the path.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
Denver has to lose two while the Chargers.
Speaker 3 (18:15):
Lose uh two one two.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
Two, or the Denver has to lose two and.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
You don't know the path.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
Let me lay ahead.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
This is straight from the Miami Herald. Okay, the Dolphins
will make the playoffs. And this is if they went
at Cleveland and at the Jets. That's and one of
these three things happen. Okay Number one. Two Charger losses
and two Denver.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
Losses, right, which is very possible.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
Uh two Denver losses and one Indianapolis loss.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
Right, which is what I said, which is gonna be
the game against the Giants.
Speaker 2 (18:51):
Two Chargers losses and one Indianapolis loss.
Speaker 1 (18:54):
Again, yes, and that's very possible also, so it made
me feel good about it.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
And you could also be out of it by the
time you end up playing. So on Sunday they could
be eliminated from playoff contention because the Chargers and Broncos
play Saturday and the Colts play at one o'clock on Sunday.
If the Chargers win at New England and the Broncos
win at Cincinnati, you'd be out.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
So that's not happening.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
Keep hope alive, Keep hope alive. All right, let's go.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
When we come back to the diraq dot com studios.
Listen no Todd Furman tonight. Okay, so plenty of time

Speaker 3 (20:02):
Off to a roaring start.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
Arnie ucla Dodger, Frank Wright, and Arnie just to compare
himself to Einstein. I know he doesn't mean Albert and
he actually met the Einstein. Bagel guys. Hey, they made
a killing that was really good as good.
Speaker 1 (20:16):
Great bagel plays. I'm a great bagel plays.
Speaker 2 (20:19):
The Dolphins still have a ninety or eight ninety eight
year old woman's puncher's chance in making the playoffs. Nature
fake news A little bit Wow five percent five percent.
Speaker 1 (20:32):
I I did the math. I came up with better
than five percent.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
He came up with better than five percent.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
Yeah, I don't know what math they're doing.
Speaker 3 (20:40):
What was your process? Do you want to walk this
through it? Or no?
Speaker 1 (20:42):
No, no you I don't want to bore you. Guys,
really a bunch of math equations. I we were not
going to do that to you.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
I understand it. I understand it. Well.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
It was a unique day in the NFL because we
already had a game on Thursday with the college well
typically the college football being in like true bowl season,
we had the playoffs. We'll get to that next hour.
We had two Saturday games, so a little bit of
a lighter slate. We we got drama developing and Sunday
night football. The Buccaneers have cut it to a two
(21:10):
point game with two thirty six to go down, We're
gonna Tampa twenty four. I mean, everything's about draft pick positioning,
so hope they blow it, Hope they stink the.
Speaker 3 (21:20):
Rest of the way. I just hate that attitude.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
I mean everyone's I got closs in the comments of
like the Raiders final score, and Raider fans are bitching
and moaning, no.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
But there's a big difference between. I mean, if you
were gonna get Caleb Williams and you end up you
didn't that, you know you, it would.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
Stick hard to win, man, I know this sounds weird.
Speaker 1 (21:40):
Do Sanders and not Shodure Sanders?
Speaker 2 (21:44):
Are you a big Shador Sanders believer? I'm a little
doing exactly right. I mean, it's just one of those
where I like him and if the Raiders get him,
I think he'll be I think he'll be great wherever
he ends up. But I'm not going to complain about
cam Warden. I'm not going to complain about Travis Hunter,
and I'm not going to complain if they get Sam Darnold.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
I mean, but it's also a chance to get your
door and probably two years from now.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
Dion, I don't think that's gonna happen with you.
Speaker 5 (22:08):
I do.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
Are you to real? Don't think he's gonna come to
the NFL at all?
Speaker 2 (22:11):
No, I don't think so. I don't think so. And
I definitely don't think he would be going to a
place where his sun. I mean, he wants him to
go to a place where he's going to get established. Listen,
you're losing sight of what we want to fight about here?
Aren't we want to fight about the Buffalo Bills. We
can fight about the draft pick later on. I just
I hate people that enjoy losing. I mean, sitting around
and getting your butts kicked all season long, regardless.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
I mean, gosh, it's just I.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
Know there's supposed to be a bigger goal there and
April Chris will probably be mad about it. But when
you lose ten games in a row, I mean, come on,
you're a laughing stock already. But I want to talk
about a team that everyone has gone ahead and kind
of vaulted to the AFC Championship game, where today they
had to win a little bit differently, aren't He.
Speaker 1 (22:52):
Throws it out in the flat and it's incomplete. Is
it a lateral pass?
Speaker 3 (22:56):
In a free ball? It's in the end zone?
Speaker 1 (22:58):
Is it a lateral Yes, there's a touchdown. The Bills
recover the ball in the end zone. Tarren Johnson jumped
on the football for the touchdown.
Speaker 3 (23:08):
That's the Bills radio network.
Speaker 2 (23:11):
It was not pretty for Buffalo, but I guess in
these instances win in advance. They improved his seven to
zero at home this season. It kinda you know, We
went ahead and handed Josh Allen the MVP last week,
and then he went out and kind of looked like
wyoming Josh Allen, you know, completing just what fifty percent
of his.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
Pass first game of the year for him. Last week
was the best game. This is the worst game, all
wrapped up in one week. How about that.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
Six carries for thirty yards. James Cook kind of saved
the day for him. They win, right, so survive in advance?
But did you did you ratchet up the panic meter
a little bit for the Bills after that today?
Speaker 1 (23:46):
No? I won't think about this twice as they get
ready for the playoffs. It's just enough the thought you're
playing a divisional game. Yeah, it never should have been
that close. If the game was in New England, I'd say, okay,
they were playing on the road and get up for it. Whatever. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
the weather was bad. No reason this game should have
been close at all. I don't know. Maybe they weren't
(24:07):
prepared for it, but it was a divisual game. Those
games are usually closer. That's all I'm gonna remember about
it when you look back, and they won't have any effect.
They probably weren't going to catch Kansas City anyway. Even
though they won, they won't catch Kansas City anyway.
Speaker 3 (24:21):
I mean, just Kansas City.
Speaker 2 (24:24):
They did it again on Saturday, right where they just
they didn't play all that well and still found themselves
winning a football game. I mean, if I'm a contender,
I'm kind of scared to death if they actually put
things together. But in that same vein, I look at
them and say, they're beatable. And by the way, on
that side, we can get to the Tank Dell conversation.
But that was that was sad, and that was scary,
(24:47):
but it's it's the National Football League, man, that happens.
And the way the way the Texans responded to that aren'tie.
Speaker 3 (24:53):
I'm I kind of think they're done. They just they
wilt it, and I get it.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
I don't want to sound I don't want to sound
short sighted, are mean, but you gotta be thicker skin
than that in this league, right you gotta bad guys
get hurt all the time.
Speaker 1 (25:09):
Yeah, well, I mean, it wasn't like I thought that
was the reason. You know, I agree, Yeah, they're They've
been average all year long. I told you that CJ.
Straut is taking a step, a major step backwards, maybe
two steps backwards. I can't remember the last time he
put up some really really big numbers. After what he
did last year, I thought this was gonna be like
(25:30):
a really breakout year, Like this was gonna be the
year that we're gonna say, Okay, the Texans are good,
and they may be good for ten years from now,
but this guy is going to be, like, you know,
the leadership quarterback that every team needs. I'm starting to
doubt that this was not a good year at all
for them, But I know that injuries and Nico Collins
(25:51):
was out for a while, but he's been back for
about four games. I don't know what the excuse is now,
to be honest.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
Now you got to play without Tank Dell and the
way they we spawned was wolf. The last time he
threw for over three hundred yards in a game was
October sixth. It was also the last time that he
had a seventy percent completion percentage in the game, which
is high, but when you're an elite quarterback, that's what
you should be doing. So we hit on a lot there. Right,
(26:16):
You're not concerned over the Bills. Chiefs still find ways
to win. We'll see how the Texans handled going forward
without it.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
You're more concerned about the Chiefs that I am about
the Bills, to be honest, really yeah, because I just
think they played too many close games. Buffalo. You know
this is not a pattern. So you have one tough
game and okay, you pulled it out. That's so that
will makes the difference.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
Now the Buccaneers are going to get the football back
with a minute forty minute forty left with a chance
to beat the Cowboys. Steve de Seger is watching intently.
He's got the latest with what's trending, what's going on.
Speaker 1 (26:51):
Like planking Einstein Show is what it is?
Speaker 6 (26:54):
Bill, Oh, gentlemen, And they are only down to twenty
six twenty four Cowboys, a minute forty to go. And
the reason why they forced Dallas to punt is because
Dallas had a completion to the tight end Jake Ferguson
on third and six, but making the tackle was Vita Vey.
At about three hundred and fifty pounds, he dropped back
in coverage from the defensive line and ran over, not
(27:15):
just tackled, destroyed the tight end two yards short of
the first down marker. So Baker Mayfield and company are
on the field. They are out of timeouts. They've just
used their last one on defense minute forty to go
down twenty six twenty four. They were down twenty six
to fourteen late third quarter, but kicked a forty five
yard field goal then and with under three minutes left
(27:36):
in regulation, Mayfield with a thirteen yard touchdown pass. So
they are in this mayfield.
Speaker 3 (27:41):
With two Did you see that latest Baker?
Speaker 6 (27:44):
Yes, he was scrambling and tried to kind of pitch
it forward.
Speaker 3 (27:49):
And they're gonna say it's a turnover.
Speaker 6 (27:51):
Cowboys are treating it like a turnover with a minute
and a half to go, and the defensive becks are
posing in the end zone.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
They they're going to claim they ripped it out of
the hand end of the running back. Baker was in
the grasp, I mean, if that rule still exists, right,
And as he's moving forward, he pitches it to White
who's picking up some yards, but he's holding it like
a loaf of bread. And then when he gets hit, Yeah,
he's down. That's gonna be reviewed. It's still gonna be
the Buccaneers ball. But I never saw him cough up
(28:19):
the ball, never saw him to get the ball. Yeah,
he was down, that's why. Because he's down. Let's see,
here's a good replay of it.
Speaker 6 (28:24):
And Tech quarterback was not in the grass because he
was still moving forward.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
Oh no, progress, Oh no, the ball's coming out. The
Buccaneers are going to lose on a fumble. Oh my gosh.
Speaker 7 (28:36):
And guess what.
Speaker 6 (28:37):
The Atlanta Falcons already won today to go to eight
and seven. A Bucks loss would put them at eight
and seven.
Speaker 3 (28:43):
Where you at now? Einstein?
Speaker 1 (28:45):
Wow?
Speaker 6 (28:46):
Atlanta beat the Giants thirty four to seven. Giants have
lost ten in a row. You mentioned the Raiders had
lost ten straight, but they beat Jacksonville today nineteen to fourteen.
Bears have lost nine straight, lost at home to Detroit
thirty four seventeen for Cincinnati and Indianapolis Carolina in overtime
beat Arizona. Rams won their fourth straight nineteen to nine
(29:07):
in a comeback at the Jets. Washington thirty six thirty
three over Philadelphia, which had won ten in a row.
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts left early with a concussion. Buffalo
was down fourteen to nothing second quarter, but still defeated
New England twenty four to twenty one. Miami over San
Francisco twenty nine seventeen. Dolphins record now seven and eight.
Speaker 3 (29:26):
Let's go.
Speaker 6 (29:27):
And I thought I heard last. I mean, I think
it was literally last week, seven days ago that the
Dolphins season was oh v R.
Speaker 3 (29:34):
That's over.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
They're making the playoffs. To Sega, I don't make it
the playoffs.
Speaker 6 (29:39):
Mathematically, but okay, and Minnesota won its eighth straight game
thirteen and two record for the Vikings, and they might
not be division winners, they might not get a single
home game in the postseason at thirteen and two. Right now, wow,
twenty seven to twenty four the final at Seattle. We're
ticking down to about a minute to go. Now under
a minute left as Dallas has taken a knee up.
(30:00):
Twenty six, twenty four against Tampa Bay. In the NBA
late Game, Denver beat New Orleans in overtime one thirty two,
one twenty nine. New Orleans has lost seventh straight. Nicola
Jokich a triple double. He's eleventh of the season. Oklahoma
City gave guard Alex Caruso a four year extension worth
a reported eighty one million dollars. He's a two time
(30:21):
All Defensive performer, and again Cooper Rush taken a knee
about twenty seconds left, two point lead. You know, Dallas
at home this year was one and six. They've actually
not only got a home win out of this, they
held an opponent to twenty four points at home, which
is actually an accomplishment the way the home games have
gone this year.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
Back to you, all right, it's already in plank take
Steve on A.
Speaker 6 (30:44):
By the way, I did find that you were asking
about how often that a guy that's drafted number one
overall winds up going to a super Bowl with that
team that drafted him. Apparently, in the last twenty five
years of drafts, it's only three times. Cam Newton, Jared Goff,
Joe burn all three lost.
Speaker 4 (31:01):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (31:01):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
And the only one that's won it in that group well,
I'm sorry, none of them won it none, but Matt
Stafford is the only what number one over up picked
and won it. And he did it with a different
team right in that stretch, in that stretch of last
twenty yeah, right.
Speaker 7 (31:14):
Before that would be Peyton Manning was drafted.
Speaker 3 (31:15):
So yeah, yeah, go back. My gosh, that's wild.
Speaker 6 (31:19):
Final at Dallas twenty six to twenty four.
Speaker 2 (31:21):
Unbelievable. I mean you're right. You're right, Steve. He was
not in the grass because he was still moving forward.
Shovels the ball out. I don't I don't know why.
As soon as you get it, you don't tuck it away.
Speaker 6 (31:33):
Deron Bland pulls it out and big.
Speaker 3 (31:35):
Time play by Duran and White fumbled it.
Speaker 2 (31:37):
Oh my gosh, what a heartbreaking in for the Buccaneers,
who now don't control their own destiny to.
Speaker 3 (31:43):
Make the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (31:44):
Oh already, this opens things up now in the NFC.
Speaker 7 (31:49):
South, they've lost twice to the Falcons.
Speaker 3 (31:51):
And they're tied.
Speaker 2 (31:52):
So the Falcons have the tiebreaker because they've lost twice
as Tampa Bay to Atlanta. Here's what the final two
games look like for Atlanta. They go to the Commanders
and then they get the suddenly resurgent Panthers at home.
Last two games for the Buccaneers the Panthers next week,
and then they get they get the Saints, who I
don't I don't really know how much fighting the Saints
(32:14):
are doing, so.
Speaker 1 (32:15):
It's in their favor. Then they they'll win those two
games for sure.
Speaker 2 (32:19):
So you would give the you would give the Bucks
the edge based on the Panthers and the Saints. They
get them both at home, because I mean Washington still
has a lot to fight for.
Speaker 1 (32:28):
Exactly, yes, exactly.
Speaker 2 (32:30):
You know, and we'll see Michael Pinnox. Okay, today, I
mean they won the game. I think that had a
little bit more to do with how bad the Giants are.
But as it stands right now, if the Falcons are
a playoff team, they would be the four seed and
they would host a home playoff game. Well, how about
this against Washington who they play next week. I mean,
the NFC is tight man ten and five for the Commanders,
(32:53):
ten and four for the Packers, who play tomorrow night
against the Saints. The Vikings are thirteen two and they're
the five set.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
I know, is that crazy? You can't get thirteen and
two and the best you could do is a five seed.
That's unheard of it.
Speaker 2 (33:07):
You know what I'm I'm a dumbass. It would be
Atlanta and Minnesota. It would be the four to five.
I'm sorry, that's what the first round playoff would be.
Then it would be the Rams, who seized control today
of the NFC West, and they would play the Packers,
and then it would be the Eagles and the Commanders again,
which is kind of gross though. The one seed is
still very much up for grabs between Detroit, Philadelphia and
(33:28):
Minnesota and the NFC. In fact, I noticed, hold On,
I was trying to do a really good job on
the Roman numerals today, Arnie. I noticed you had the
playoff rundown ones like Roman numeral six or seven that
we need to get to at some point tonight. So
we'll do that coming up next here it is the
Roman numeral four on the Roman numeral rundown latest on
the playoff race. Let's do that next with Arnie and
(33:49):
Plank on Fox Sports Radio. Fox Sports Radio has the
best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of
our shows at Foxsports Radio dot com and within the
hard radio app search FSR to listen live. All right,
it's already in Plank on a Fox Sports Sunday. It
is a final. The Cowboys have beaten Tampa Bay the
(34:12):
uh the Bucks aren't out of it, but now the
path becomes a little bit more challenging in the NFC
South because uh, Tampa falls to eight and seven. Atlanta
is eight and seven. The Falcons swept the Buccaneers this season.
Speaker 1 (34:30):
You know, I was pretty much right on when I
gave you all those division winners at the beginning of
the year.
Speaker 3 (34:35):
Yeah, dead on, weren't you?
Speaker 1 (34:37):
Kansas City used in Buffalo Dophins. No, I picked by
having to win the playoffs, plus the do it got heard,
stop it, and I had Baltimore.
Speaker 2 (34:50):
So can we talk about the playoff scenarios and you can?
You can hurt your elbow, pat in yourself on your
back on Twitter. So right now as it stands, just
talking about the NFCSAL, you have two teams, and I
mean the Falcons control their own destiny, the Atlanta Falcons,
who had a quarterback switch this week at Washington at Carolina.
(35:12):
Like we talked about last segment for Tampa Bay, their
last two games that they have remaining on the season,
they're home for Carolina and for New Orleans.
Speaker 3 (35:19):
So interesting on that front. How about the fact now
that as long now and again that's.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
A tough one next week for Minnesota, Minnesota's got Green Bay,
Detroit's going to San Francisco.
Speaker 3 (35:30):
Which, dude, I don't know if has anyone seen their
stock stock stock stock fall faster this year than Brock Party.
Speaker 1 (35:38):
They're done though it's a VR, then they're done well.
Speaker 2 (35:42):
I mean, I know, but like, are you saying they're
going to fold the franchise it's done?
Speaker 1 (35:45):
Well, no, I don't know why you said that about
a brock party, like he's responsible for the forty nine
or woes.
Speaker 2 (35:51):
That's what you just fought with me and screamed that
he was finished and you wouldn't pay him fifty million dollars.
Speaker 1 (35:57):
Just because I'm not going to pay him fifty million
dollars as I mean, I won't pay him thirty five.
Speaker 2 (36:01):
He might not take it. It's the going rate for
a starting quarterback right now in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (36:06):
I mean, look what look with that guy? Look good
that that slept to a tongue baloa guy.
Speaker 2 (36:12):
So Detroit and Minnesota if they don't stub their toes
next week Detroit at San Francisco. Minnesota's got the Packers.
You realize we've got a January second game between those
two teams, for a January second, January sixth game between
those two teams where just about.
Speaker 3 (36:27):
Everything is on the line.
Speaker 2 (36:29):
Where's the January fifth it is in Detroit?
Speaker 1 (36:32):
Oh wow?
Speaker 2 (36:33):
And I now here's the question I have number one,
because no start times are made and I'm really getting
ahead of myself, and I should be clear. It could
be a January fourth, it could be January fifth, but
I'm pretty sure the NFL is gonna put this on
January fifth, right, And you would think everybody's gonna want
this game because if both teams win next week, not
only Arnie is the NFC North on the line, but
(36:55):
so is the number one seed with Philadelphia's lost today.
As long as both of these teams take care of
business next week in week seventeen, it's for the number
one seed, it's for the NFC North. You gotta put
it on Sunday Night football, right.
Speaker 1 (37:11):
But what would happen if which team would have to win,
which would have to lose for not to be significant anymore.
Speaker 2 (37:18):
Either one of them? It would still be Yeah, I
mean it would still be significant. I mean because they're tied,
they have the exact same record, they're both thirteen and
two on the season right now, they are ahead of
Philly by a game. And there are those are the
three teams that are fighting right now for the one seed.
Philly falls out of that mix where they're lost to
(37:39):
Washington and we'll see the injury with Jalen Hurtz. So
I mean, like I said, Minnesota's got Green Bay, Detroit
is at San Francisco. If they win next week, that's
everything is on the line between those two teams.
Speaker 3 (37:51):
How cool is that?
Speaker 1 (37:52):
Wow, that's gonna be a good one. You're right about that.
That's gonna be the premier game of the week. And
I would love to have that game, no doubt about that. Okay,
So here's the other interesting thing that has developed. Pittsburgh
and Baltimore are in a dead heat atop the AFC
North right now, right, but they split their regular season matchups.
(38:12):
And I guess this was in the USA Today rundown,
So if it's incorrect, blame USA Today. But apparently Pittsburgh
has a slight tiebreaker edge because their win over their
record against AFC opponents. Maybe Pittsburgh has a tiebreakover Baltimore
based on the better win percentage in conference.
Speaker 2 (38:36):
Do you ever, That's exactly what I just said. You
never listen to me. I don't know why we were together.
Speaker 1 (38:42):
You were just stumbling it.
Speaker 3 (38:44):
Yeah, that's I was stumbling.
Speaker 2 (38:46):
Anyway, You get Kansas City for Pittsburgh next week, and
then you get Cincinnati in their final two games, both
of those at home.
Speaker 3 (38:54):
And of course the weird week because they're going to.
Speaker 2 (38:56):
Be playing on Christmas against Kansas City Baltimore again, unique
week because they're gonna be playing on Christmas against Houston.
And then they get the Browns to wrap up the season,
who don't really look like they're fighting too terribly hard.
Speaker 3 (39:11):
I mean, Dorian Thompson Robinson looked terrible.
Speaker 1 (39:14):
Yeah, he looks like he's over his head. I used
to ones think that, Hey, this guy could be the
real deal. I love this guy, remember, I love that guy.
Speaker 3 (39:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (39:21):
Yeah, And so anyway, that's some of the fun that
you have right now. Like you had said, for the
most part, the wild cards are taken care of, but
now you've suddenly changed your mind on that because I
guess Miami's gonna win the wild card. Denver and Los
Angeles just have to take care of business in their
final two games and they're in. And they could even
lose one of their final two games and still be in.
(39:43):
Though if Indianapolis, Miami, and Cincinnati went out, then suddenly
that makes things a little bit more interesting. If Denver
and Los Angeles, as a friend of mine likes to say,
play with their food a little bit. Well, for the
most part, there's not a path for the wild card
for Tampa or Seattle right now because there are two
games back. But if Washington struggles next week, who knows.
(40:06):
So we got some drama still left as far as
playoff positioning is concerned in both the AFC and the NFC,
and I am here for it, Arnie. Was a fun weekend,
I think because we got home college football playoff games.
But it wasn't fun whenever they kicked the ball off.
We'll talk about it next on Fox. All right, there
(40:26):
we go, final ot. Oh, I'm sorry. I were two.
I was trying to get ahead of ourselves. I made
the mistake of taking a morning show tomorrow morning on.
Speaker 3 (40:35):
My local station.
Speaker 2 (40:37):
I get a chance to talk to our new quarterback,
Arnie John Matteer tomorrow morning. So maybe I might be
trying to fast forward to nap time here.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
Wow, you're not gonna get any sleep whatsoever after that.
Speaker 2 (40:48):
You know what, I was smart today? I took a
little nap. Of course, you know this.
Speaker 3 (40:54):
You know this, Arnie.
Speaker 2 (40:56):
You had a young child at one point. There's no
such thing as a nap. Whenever you have a young kid,
it just doesn't exist. You might say to yourself, you know,
once they get to be fourteen, No, no, nope, nope, nope,
because he'll always have something that they want you to do.
Who's your favorite right now? By the way, to end
up as the one seat you're taking the Lions of
the Vikings, are you keeping some hope alive for the Eagles?
(41:18):
Eagles need a bit of a stumble here from both
the Lions and the Vikings, but you know, there's still
very much alive for that one seat despite what happened today.
Speaker 1 (41:28):
No, I think it's going to be the Lions will
be the number one seed. By the way, does Jalen
Hurt something about four games like that?
Speaker 3 (41:35):
Come up with this?
Speaker 1 (41:36):
Four games? I'm just asking that was the rule for
due It wasn't the rule.
Speaker 3 (41:40):
They put him on injured reserves.
Speaker 1 (41:42):
So what I'm like, they shouldn't do that. They should
only keep him out for a game or two. And
you were brow beating the hell out of me.
Speaker 2 (41:49):
Yeah, because he doesn't have a history of concussions.
Speaker 1 (41:52):
That's not the point that you don't know that you
don't know if he's at a concussion.
Speaker 3 (41:56):
Yea, I covered him in college, Arny. I know he
doesn't have a history.
Speaker 1 (41:58):
Don't know if in practice or anything like that. We
just know the ones that to ada was that happened
during a game?
Speaker 2 (42:04):
And okay, then how many more did he happen practice?
If you want to play that game?
Speaker 1 (42:07):
Oh, I don't know that. I can't tell you.
Speaker 3 (42:10):
Where do you get this from?
Speaker 1 (42:12):
That?
Speaker 3 (42:12):
This four game? Did this?
Speaker 1 (42:13):
Like?
Speaker 3 (42:14):
Was this something that got in your mind that you created?
Speaker 4 (42:17):
What?
Speaker 3 (42:17):
Where did this cost?
Speaker 1 (42:18):
Cost of the season? Is what it did?
Speaker 3 (42:20):
It did? That's what you're counting on.
Speaker 2 (42:23):
A guy who has this history, though, and it's gonna
happen every single year.
Speaker 1 (42:27):
So it's not gonna happen every year. Would just stop.
Speaker 2 (42:29):
You're telling me you're not nervous at all about him
getting a concussion again?
Speaker 1 (42:33):
No, no, it just was a freak thing.
Speaker 3 (42:35):
It's okay, okay, So it was a freak thing last year?
Was it a freak thing the year before?
Speaker 1 (42:39):
Hey, there's been a guy that's been there's a guy
been struck by lightning twice.
Speaker 3 (42:44):
That's right with the Great Outdoors. The guy that got
struck by lightning.
Speaker 1 (42:50):
Five times record or something.
Speaker 3 (42:53):
Yeah, something like that.
Speaker 2 (42:54):
Well, we're coming to you live tonight from the tire
rack dot Com studios, tire rack dot com. We'll help
you get there on unmapped selection, fast free shipping, free
road hazard protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tire
rack dot com the way tire buying should be No
Todd Furman tonight. So we're gonna spend some time on
your tweets. They've been really good at stinking genius one.
(43:15):
I'm at Plank Show. Everybody should follow us at Fox
Sports Radio. Are you ready to get after some of
these I am. I just one thing we didn't get to.
Speaker 1 (43:22):
I know, we're gonna be talking about the college playoffs
and all that.
Speaker 3 (43:28):
Go ahead.
Speaker 1 (43:29):
I was wait a few people saying this that all
the complaints that were going on after the first round games.
I mean, people just coming out in full force. This
was horrible. INDIANDAS shouldn't have been in there. SMU shouldn't
have been in there, Tennessee shouldn't have been in there.
(43:49):
These teams we did the wrong thing. We have the
wrong format. I mean, the list of complaining was just unbelievable.
I was not prepared for because it was the first year, Chris.
I thought people were just gonna be all right, it's
the first year we're gonna enjoy It's like a first date,
you know what I mean, You're not gonna score on
the first date, but you're still gonna have a good time. Chris,
(44:11):
so I thought people just enjoy the first date and
we'll change things up later on. But no, people could
play like crazy and caught me off guard.
Speaker 3 (44:19):
I just have a question.
Speaker 1 (44:21):
Yeah, have you not?
Speaker 2 (44:23):
Not you personally, but have you people not watched the
playoffs in college football until this year? We have this
fight every year because that games are not always close?
What were the spreads in this game? What were the
spreads on Saturday? There is a thirteen and a half,
there was eight, there was what was Friday night?
Speaker 6 (44:42):
Like this?
Speaker 3 (44:42):
Seven?
Speaker 1 (44:43):
Right?
Speaker 2 (44:43):
Even the Tennessee Ohio State game was like six and
a half at kickoff. I mean, those aren't necessarily close games.
Whenever you're talking about the elite of the league, and
already you sprinkling a little bit of shutting out the
sec here who is a very loud voice when it
comes to college with Paul, Yeah, I get it. People
people are mad because they thought that an expanded playoff
(45:05):
would get them better games. But I mean, just I
don't know what anyone expected to be honest with you, man,
I kind of I got what I expected in the playoffs. Now,
I was hoping that Indiana might have had a little
bit more fight. I was hoping that Tennessee wouldn't be
so worried about the weather that they would be redoing
their as soon as they as soon as Marty Smith
(45:26):
had the sideline report that they had sewn in thermal
hand warmers into his uniform.
Speaker 1 (45:32):
I heard that. I heard.
Speaker 3 (45:34):
I'm like, they're done.
Speaker 2 (45:34):
They're They're more worried about keeping their quarterback warm than
they are waiting the game. I'm like, they're screwed. But
I just I kind of hope that game was closer.
But I just I love the environments, man.
Speaker 1 (45:45):
You see that. That's the next thing I was going
to get to Chris. I don't need to see next week,
not next week, what January.
Speaker 3 (45:51):
First, Yeah, days from now.
Speaker 1 (45:53):
I don't even need to wait till then to tell you.
And this is something I've been telling you from day one.
You know what I think about neutral site games, right,
there's no way that the games on the first or
the thirty first are going to compare to what we
saw this first weekend. The home field in South Bend
in Texas College Station, Ohio State. It's I mean, you
(46:17):
don't get that in a neutral site game. You don't
even get stadiums that full most of the time when
you have to travel. And that's what's gonna have to
happen here. People are gonna have to travel. Now on
both sides, it's not the same field, it's not the
same thing. I think eventually we'll get to all the way,
We'll have a home field all the way until the finals,
something like that.
Speaker 2 (46:38):
See, I don't think so. No, I wish they would
because I think it was a great atmosphere as well, right,
And it's I hope at some point the powers that
be in college football look around and say, man, it's
really expensive to be a college football fan. Let's do
something for the fans, right and make it where sure
it's not gonna be cheap to get a take.
Speaker 1 (46:58):
You can't travel three weeks in a row or two weeks.
Speaker 2 (47:01):
Now, that's the point I'm trying to make here. Yeah,
I mean, it's just you gotta you gotta let them
have an opportunity to have a home game where it's
not a hotel and it's not gas and it's not
a flight.
Speaker 3 (47:12):
I mean, I don't know how some people do it,
to be honest with you.
Speaker 1 (47:14):
And it's New Year's too, right, so it's the it's
the middle of the week. How many people can just say, okay,
middle of the week, Well we get the holidays and
then we'll take a few days off on the back
end to get on home. It's just it's crazy.
Speaker 2 (47:27):
I don't know they but as long as long as
there are bowls, they're gonna be involved in this playoff system.
And I wish my goal, my hope would be what
you said, because we're gonna get to sixteen eventually, and
there's not gonna be any first round bys, so you're
gonna have that first round on home sites. I wish
they'd go to have the second round on home sites too,
and then that way, if you want to get to
(47:48):
when you get to the semi finals and it's two
bowl games and the championship game is another bowl game, fine,
let it be a three bowl rotation like it was
in the fourteen playoff. I hope they get to that.
I just don't think they're gonna. I think are too powerful.
Speaker 1 (48:01):
I was filling in this week and what we had
Tim Brando on, and Tim's like he was just rail uplifting. Oh,
he was a railing against the NC double A he said, which,
by the way, by the way, pause, it's not the
NCAA's call, it's college football playoffs. Okay. Well, the only
reason I'm glad you corrected me on that because he
(48:23):
thought that the NC double A wasn't going to be around.
I believe twenty thirty two was the date he was
going he gave me because that's when they're done, and
that's when they'll officially go away. And I'm wondering if
then we'll have the change where we'll have no ball games.
Speaker 3 (48:37):
What was significant about twenty thirty two the.
Speaker 1 (48:41):
N I think that's when the contracts up or something
to that effect. Don't quote me on that. I think
that was the date that he gave. I'll have to
listen to it again.
Speaker 2 (48:49):
Oh, it's he that's the NCAA Basketball tournament. That's the
basketball tournament deal with CBS and Turner when that comes
to an end in twenty thirty two, and that's that's
the fund, that's the foundation financially for for the n
c A.
Speaker 3 (49:05):
Is the NCAA Basketball Tournament.
Speaker 1 (49:06):
Okay, and then once that's done, they're done with. They
won't be around or I.
Speaker 3 (49:11):
Mean, we'll see.
Speaker 2 (49:12):
It's just the funny thing is the everyone wants to
build up the n c A as this big, bad.
Speaker 3 (49:17):
Enemy, and I mean it's it's literally funded by the schools.
Speaker 2 (49:21):
It's it's it's the arm of the schools, which is
always kind of interesting to me. But yeah, it's just
if they don't continue, Yeah, if you have mega conferences developed.
I just think that the bottom line, more than anything
else already, is we've got to start treating football differently.
It's just you gotta realize everyone tries to make everything
even and everything fair, and we're getting there, but we
(49:41):
just got to realize football is a completely different animal.
Speaker 3 (49:44):
You know, we don't have to.
Speaker 2 (49:46):
Make everything equal across the board, and just do smart things,
make it fair, to make it fair for the fans
that spend the money, and.
Speaker 3 (49:54):
Let's let's get the best matchups out there. I'll tell you.
Speaker 1 (49:57):
What, I think. Get four thousand there traveling from both sides.
That's just not gonna happen.
Speaker 2 (50:03):
Well, I mean, there's not a two hundred thousand seed stadium.
But I digress. I know you weren't being literal on
that for you. Yeah, I see what you're saying, But
don't I don't think that you're gonna see new jerk
change because you'll see sixteen eventually. This is set for
a couple of years now with the twelve team playoff.
They're already talking about expanding it. But they're not gonna
(50:25):
expand it at least for another one.
Speaker 3 (50:27):
Or two years.
Speaker 2 (50:28):
The bottom line to me is get to sixteen. We
can fight about less deserving. The first round byes are
kind of a joke to begin with. I mean, how
is the tenth and ninth seeded teams right now getting
first round bys while several teams out of them are playing.
Speaker 1 (50:42):
Now, that's when I think they'll change right away. You don't.
I think they can change up by next year?
Speaker 3 (50:46):
Am I wrong on that?
Speaker 1 (50:46):
They can't do that either?
Speaker 3 (50:48):
There's three things that can't be changed.
Speaker 2 (50:50):
There's three things that can't be changed, and one of
them is automatic bids to conference turned to conference champions. So,
but again, I don't know if that means that position, right.
Speaker 1 (51:02):
I was just about to say that, right.
Speaker 2 (51:04):
So, But there wasn't even like this moment this weekend
where you look back and say, man, if that wouldn't
have happened, that could have been a great game, right, every.
Speaker 3 (51:14):
Single one of those games already, there's not a moment
like that.
Speaker 2 (51:18):
I mean, you really gotta be a Tennessee homer because
you would say out if they wouldn't have had that
face mask or that roughing the pass or whatever was
called on that opening drive, when Ohio State would have punted,
that could have changed the whole games.
Speaker 1 (51:30):
Got into within one score in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 2 (51:32):
Though, if Clempson, if Clemson wouldn't have given up this
seventy seven yard touchdown run, then maybe it would have
Maybe it would have been a completely different situation for them.
I don't or or punched it in late right, if
they would have punched it in late there and made
it a one score game.
Speaker 1 (51:50):
Most disappointing team of the weekend Indiana. I was just.
Speaker 3 (51:56):
That Tennessee would be one.
Speaker 2 (51:58):
But like I said, as soon as I saw that
first quarter, I was like, Ohio s Day's really pissed
and they're playing really well. But Indiana and someone had
someone had been all over X early on in your
opening Hey we're coming up here in about an hour.
It was like you got to get all on Kurt Signetti.
I mean, Arnie, I'm We're at an event on Friday
(52:19):
night and I'm doing the postgame shows and I'm watching
I'm watching the pregames. Right it's it's game day. Game
Day's on like all day from Notre Dame, and Kurt
Signetti is out there on the game day set and
I'm thinking.
Speaker 3 (52:30):
To myself, this isn't pre taped.
Speaker 2 (52:32):
He's like, there's Pat McAfee, there's Nick Saban, there's I
think that's Reyes Davis, or it's Chris Faller.
Speaker 3 (52:38):
No one can ever get him straight.
Speaker 2 (52:40):
And I'm like, what's he doing? Why is he out
there doing this right now? And he and I get it,
he's mister Google me and they wonted Indiana. But when
he's talking about we don't beat teens, we kicked the
ass out of him, I'm like, why do we even
do it? Get get into the locker room, dude, go
coach your team, and then you go out there and
(53:00):
you punt on fourth and eleven. Whenever, it's all, I mean,
the game's pretty much over right right right the King
of garbage time touchdowns in twenty twenty four. Whenever they
were out of it was Indiana. The same thing that
happened against Notre Dame happened against Ohio State. They looked tentative,
and they scored a couple times late to make it
look close. I mean, I just they looked like that
(53:23):
that moment the lights were too bright for them. They
went down their leg and their swash buckling, trash talking
coach absolutely.
Speaker 3 (53:31):
Turtled in the big moment.
Speaker 2 (53:33):
Man right after, did you not think it was a
joke to see him punt in that situation? And then
afterwards saying well, I wanted to go for it, did you? Well,
why didn't you?
Speaker 1 (53:44):
No? He handled the whole one. Everything you said Notre
Dame was. I mean, they it could have been worse
than the twenty three weeks that they had I hooked up.
I go, wow, it's the kind of goos I thought of,
you like forty something to free. They were just dominating them.
Then it wasn't though, But I never felt that Indiana
should not have been in the tournament. I mean yeah,
(54:06):
I still thought that they should have been in the
tournament based on what happened during the regular season. So
just because they lost and they're not as good as
Notre Dame doesn't mean they didn't earn their way into
this tournament.
Speaker 3 (54:17):
Chris, like, I didn't.
Speaker 2 (54:18):
Sit on Friday night or even throughout the day Saturday
thinking man Ole Miss should be in here, or why
Alabama should be in here? Or who else? Who else
would they Miami or South Carolina.
Speaker 3 (54:31):
I didn't have that.
Speaker 2 (54:31):
I just kind of thought. I don't know how much
different it would have been. Would Ole Miss had played
Ohio State a little bit tighter than Tennessee, maybe, but
you're not going to take Tennessee out of it. They
had earned the right. Would Alabama had played Notre Dame
much better? I don't know, dude. I saw Notre Dame
on the road, get Alabama on the road, get their
head kicked in by Oklahoma.
Speaker 1 (54:52):
I just don't know what everybody's complained, what they want
to be done about the first round. They wanted less teams.
I mean, I told people there wasn't twelve teams I
could that could win the national championship. But you don't
know that they're they're still playing for national championship. What
exactly do you want done from all this? I don't raining.
Speaker 3 (55:10):
I don't know what.
Speaker 1 (55:11):
I don't know what you want.
Speaker 3 (55:12):
It happened.
Speaker 2 (55:13):
It's a great question, and everyone that everyone has the
magical thoughts like, oh, they've got to do this, and
until they do this, it's going to be a joke
or whatever. I don't know. I mean, I'll just tell
you right now. I think you expand it to sixteen,
eventually you will get away from first round bys, which
is a great idea. But I mean even the NFL
has done a one team gets a buye, right or
(55:35):
maybe you know, I don't know, maybe you only expand
it to fifteen. I don't know what that numbers would
look like. But my bottom line, more than anything else, Arnie,
this is what happens every year in the college football playoffs.
Every single year. You just we we don't get great games.
You get to the end of injuries and injuries too. Man,
they're going to become an even bigger issue in college
(55:56):
because with the transfer portal and guys leaving and guys
having to lead early. They got to fix their schedule
number one, right, you can't be having free agency right
in the middle of this.
Speaker 1 (56:06):
No, that's freakery. That's the number one thing they have
to fix. Out of those things where people have to
start saying, well, I can't play in the bowl game
because I have to decurb myself for the portal. I mean,
it's just crazy. What's going on right now?
Speaker 2 (56:20):
Here's a stat and we'll get a break on. It's
Arnie playing got into the College FOOTBA playoff a little
deeper than we thought. Here your text coming up next.
Pat forty tweeted this last night and it resonated with me.
I'm old enough to remember Oregon fifty nine Florida State twenty.
That was the first ever college football playoff game. Chip
Kelly and Oregon beat Florida State fifty nine to twenty.
(56:40):
Alabama beat Michigan State thirty eight to zip in a
playoff game, right, Clemson thirty one, Ohio State zero, Clemson thirty,
Notre Dame three. We don't have to bring up LSU
sixty three, Oclumba twenty eight, Arnie twenty four. Of the
thirty four playoff games that have been played, twenty four
of the thirty four, seventy percent of the college football
(57:00):
playoff games have been won by double digits, not first
round games, all of them. So, in other words, we
just don't get tight games history, even though it was
a ball out I sent Joe.
Speaker 1 (57:12):
I don't know if I sent you the ratings or
I just posted it. Ratings were damn good. Supposed to
be bad.
Speaker 3 (57:17):
Oh not bad.
Speaker 1 (57:18):
Yeah, they rivaled the two NFL games, well, at least
two of them. I thought. Tennessee, Ohio, State Indiana, Notre
Dame a little bit, but Tennessee, Ohio stagly was right
up there with the two NFL games.
Speaker 2 (57:32):
All right, when we come back to the tirack dot
com studios, your texts and tweets are on fire.
Speaker 3 (57:37):
We'll get to them. No, Todd Furman.
Speaker 2 (57:39):
Tonight, Todd is on a holiday break, and as always,
we come to you live from the ti rack dot
Com Studios. Also brought to you in part by Rapid Radios,
the official communication advice of Fox Sports Radio. In an emergency,
you want Rapid Radios instant push to talk walkie talkies

(57:59):
you have to do is go to rap at radios

Speaker 3 (58:04):
It's all about you next on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (58:07):
All right, it's Tarni and Plank coming to you live
from the ti rack dot Com studios, tire rack dot
com the way tire buyings should be. Do you think
to put a rap on the college conversation? Are you
one of those people? Aren't he that believes we should
go back to the computers?
Speaker 3 (58:27):
Are you still okay with the committee?
Speaker 1 (58:31):
No, it's got to be the committee. That way, I
can still make fun of them, you know how much?
Speaker 2 (58:35):
Yeah, that way, he'll still be able to make fun
of him for not watching games.
Speaker 1 (58:40):
Exactly, exactly. No, it's got to be the committee. I
don't trust the polls, I don't trust the computers. And
there's always one computer that's Haywire. You know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (58:49):
That's right?
Speaker 1 (58:50):
Are you crazy? What's wrong with you? Oh? No, I
want to keep it with the committee.
Speaker 2 (58:55):
I like this from Vincent just before we get into
the NFL Week sixteen recap. Vincent rights, there's nothing wrong
with the college football Playoff. It's that quote unquote. The
fans just want the same schools competing for the national
title when every school should have another opportunity.
Speaker 3 (59:11):
You're you're part of the problem. I'm just I'm playing like.
Speaker 1 (59:15):
You like the blue bloods, right, you like the blue blods.
Speaker 2 (59:17):
You and you'll also be a guy. Well maybe not
specifically you.
Speaker 1 (59:22):
But you're the problem because you're the reason why you
got Indiana over Alabama.
Speaker 3 (59:26):
And so why is that because Oklahoma beat Alabama?
Speaker 1 (59:29):
No, because if we get Alabama, if we get Alabama
and we have a blue blood, we have a better game.
Speaker 2 (59:34):
I guess maybe, maybe, I guess we'll never know. But
the funny thing about it is everyone wants to sit
there and complain about college football not having an opportunity
for the quote unquote little guys. Oh, everyone deserves an opportunity.
It needs to be fair. And then all of a sudden,
teams that you know are considered little guys get in Cincinnati,
(59:55):
TCU UH, Indiana, Polis State areas gonna say everyone bitches
and moans.
Speaker 1 (01:00:00):
And pack the little guy.
Speaker 3 (01:00:01):
I don't want to watch these games.
Speaker 1 (01:00:03):
The little guy is what makes the college basketball tournament
so great. It's all about the one.
Speaker 2 (01:00:08):
Yeah, no, no, I disagree. Look at the lowest rate, yes,
ding ding ding. You love to see the early round
up sets. You ain't watching him in the sweet sixteen.
It's like, oh, is in this great? This run that
out Manhattan is on his Hey, listen, I need Manhattan
and loosey Kentucky.
Speaker 3 (01:00:24):
Right, I don't want to watch him play in the
Elite eight.
Speaker 2 (01:00:27):
George Mason, George Mason, right right, loyal with my man,
Porter Moser, all right, mister nobody is on fire tonight.
He writes the unbelievable sickaphant attitude by much of the media,
including the Four Letter Network, towards the SEC and the
college football player. Is co is close to making sync
to depth I could never thought I could reach. I'm
(01:00:50):
considering pulling for Notre Dame. And then he adds if
Josh Allen is out for the Bills, yes, there's concern.
This is in the nineteen nineties. There's no Frank Reich
to come in and save the day.
Speaker 1 (01:01:04):
No, it's not going to Frank coming off the bench
for that one.
Speaker 2 (01:01:08):
Yeah no, no, no, it's even better. It's Mitch Trubisky. Wait,
is Mitch still there? I haven't seen a lot of
updates on Josh Allen's injury, but Athlon Sports a couple
of hours ago had the headline that quote, Josh Allen
Bills get bad news on Josh Allen's injury. Remember, he
had an injury in week one. He had an injury
(01:01:30):
to his left non throwing hand in one of the season,
but I don't see anything other than that. He didn't
come back to the game after what was described as
an elbow contusion that was on the right arm, he
said following the game, and we'll get this audio. The
crew behind the scenes is working on chopping it all up.
(01:01:50):
He said following the game that he lost all feeling
in his right hand for five to ten minutes after
suffering the elbow contusion. Those sensation eventually returned. Are we
not talking enough about this tonight?
Speaker 1 (01:02:05):
I mean, it's me when I sleep on my arm
and I get that pins of needles stuff that hurts
very much for about thirty seconds. And I'm sure it's
the same thing, but.
Speaker 2 (01:02:12):
No, there's a major difference between thirty seconds in like
a minute, right.
Speaker 1 (01:02:17):
I know. I think he's gonna be okay. I haven't
seen anything. I've been reading Twitter all night. I haven't
seen anything that says, oh, no, he's going to be
out for the rest of the year or to that effect.
I haven't heard any bad things about the injury.
Speaker 2 (01:02:31):
Yeah, Bake rights, the Bills look like the nineteen eighties Patriots.
They probably got confused who they were playing for.
Speaker 3 (01:02:38):
Yeah, that was. But what do you think of the
Bills Red Jerseys? Are you a fan?
Speaker 1 (01:02:42):
I like it?
Speaker 3 (01:02:43):
I like him.
Speaker 1 (01:02:44):
I like that thing. I'm like, hey, that's got a
nice bull look to it. There's been some good third
type Jerseys.
Speaker 3 (01:02:52):
I like him.
Speaker 2 (01:02:53):
All right, all right, fair enough. Then we'll have more
on the injury or reported injury coming up in just
a bit. I'm a writer, Rob Jay writes, Merry Christmas, Happy, Honikah.
Can't believe how undisciplined the forty nine ers were against
your Dolphins. Arnie Shanahan made me to take a year off,
Dolphins GM, Chris Greer should take Fourever off?
Speaker 3 (01:03:15):
Whoa you won the game? We won the game.
Speaker 1 (01:03:17):
You know, I was shocked at it. We were gonna
win that game. Because still the forty nine ers, you're
always thinking about the past, like, Okay, they're gonna come in,
they're gonna knock us around a little bit. Brock Perdy
certainly didn't have his best game, and there's no doubt
about that too. Was okay one touchdown pass. Tyreek Hill
has certainly slowed down. He's got that bad risk going on.
Speaker 3 (01:03:39):
But a win's a win.
Speaker 1 (01:03:40):
Like I said, still think the Dolphins have that good
chance of making the playoffs. I feel good about it.
Speaker 3 (01:03:45):
It was one of those games I had.
Speaker 2 (01:03:47):
I was watching the Bills and the Patriots, and I
had the Raiders on the laptop, so I wasn't watching
a lot of it, but I'd be scrolling Twitter and
all I saw were people just dumping all over Tyreek Hill.
Part of it is where in the fantasy football playoffs
right right, So there's a lot of people who probably
have been waiting for Tyreek Hill to do something like
I did all year long.
Speaker 3 (01:04:06):
And when he's I saw people, hey should trade hum.
Let's tell you're like, wait a minute, this is fantasy. Really.
Speaker 1 (01:04:14):
I won my Fantasy Football of the semifinals. Had no
business winning. The guy the guy I was going up
against had Jalen Hurts as his quarterback.
Speaker 2 (01:04:23):
Oh my gosh, I was in the loser's bracket. I
stopped caring a long time ago. A couple more than
we'll get to Sega's update, our buddy Josh wrightes as
a Colts fan, I'm pulling for the Bengals over the Colts.
Miami and Denver and there's a chance that both the
Colts and Miami could make.
Speaker 3 (01:04:40):
It to the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (01:04:41):
No, I don't think so.
Speaker 3 (01:04:44):
I think there is actually.
Speaker 2 (01:04:46):
If they lose their last two games, If LA and
Denver wins their last two games, and you guys and
Indy wins their last two games, I think those those
are the two games two teams that are in. Because
the Chargers in the Denver lose game. I think there's
a Bengals loss that's mixed in there somewhere too. But yeah, listen,
we're talking about the kind of scenarios that I've lived
(01:05:08):
with with the Raiders during the Derek Carr era, where
I'm like, well, if we lose, if we win at
eighteen teams lose, we love layoff.
Speaker 3 (01:05:16):
Yeah, oh I love it.
Speaker 2 (01:05:18):
Colin is all over you, Arnie, he writes, time to
call out Arnie for scoffing my tweet last week saying
the Seahawks season came to an end. It is O
v e er over three and six at home. GINO
is Drew lock Light. From now on, please refer to
me as the Bowery King, because like the John Wick character,
(01:05:38):
I am all seeing and all knowing. Wow, well you
were you were Einstein earlier, so now he is the
Bowery King. Were you really dumping on Seattle last week?
Are building up Seattle last week?
Speaker 1 (01:05:55):
I don't think so.
Speaker 3 (01:05:56):
I rest if Colin.
Speaker 2 (01:05:58):
If there is one thing you've learned listening to this
show is you can't hold Arnie's words against him for
the weekend.
Speaker 1 (01:06:03):
For don't holme me responsible for that. You got to
call me out right there in that.
Speaker 2 (01:06:07):
Yeah, whenever he wakes up the next morning, everything that
was set is forgotten.
Speaker 3 (01:06:11):
Exactly. Well.
Speaker 2 (01:06:12):
I got more of your tax and tweets coming up.
They're really good tonight. Keep them coming, a stinking genius one.
I'm at Plank Show. Everybody go follow us at Fox
Sports Radio right now. Steve Seger with what's trending? What's
going on?
Speaker 6 (01:06:22):
Steve Hell A couple things to get to before the
Cowboys win tonight. As soon as you talked about quoting somebody, Hey,
maybe we should go back to computers to decide the college. No,
don't let him finish the sentence.
Speaker 1 (01:06:33):
No.
Speaker 6 (01:06:33):
All it reminded me of and I've brought this up
before about twenty years ago, the college football season. One
of Pete Carroll's USC teams, was ranked number one in
both polls at the end of the season and was
not picked for the National Championship. Came because they weren't
the darlings of the computers. USC was darn near undefeated
(01:06:54):
that year. Their only loss had been in triple overtime
against Aaron Rodgers at Cal early in the seas. They
finished with one loss, won the Rose Bowl, did not play.
Speaker 7 (01:07:04):
In the National Title Game.
Speaker 6 (01:07:05):
And as far as what you mentioned the Chargers schedule,
can they actually blow what is currently the sixth seed, Well,
if they lose their last two games, I think it's
safe to say they don't deserve to be in the
playoffs because the Chargers are literally playing the two worst teams.
Speaker 7 (01:07:20):
In the AFC for their fight on the road though,
on the road.
Speaker 6 (01:07:23):
The two worst teams in the AFC. They're playing New
England and Las Vegas.
Speaker 1 (01:07:28):
But on the road though on the road.
Speaker 6 (01:07:30):
You're right that home field advantage means so much for
the Raiders. Week after we'll take.
Speaker 1 (01:07:35):
This away from me. Please don't do this.
Speaker 6 (01:07:38):
Speaking of home field advantage, none for the Cowboys this year. Actually,
one and six was the home record, and they did
win at home tonight against Tampa Bay twenty six to
twenty four. Brandon Aubrey four for four on field goals.
He eat a couple from fifty eight yards out in
the first half. Minnesota won it's eighth in a row
twenty seven to twenty four at Seattle home wins for
Miami and Buffalo. Las Vegas ended a ten game losing
(01:08:00):
streak beating Jacksonville nineteen fourteen. Washington over Philadelphia thirty six
thirty three, that ends Philly's ten game winning streak. Jayden
Daniels five touchdown passes, including the game winner and the
final seconds, and on the ground Daniels nine carries eighty
one yards rushing. So Washington allows over thirty points, commits
five turnovers and still wins the game and their two
(01:08:23):
games back of Philly with a couple to go.
Speaker 1 (01:08:25):
The five turnovers is head scratching out. They can come
back and win the game absolutely, it is absolutely. Eagles
quarterback Jalen Hurts left early with the concussions. Saquon Barkley
one hundred and fifty yards rushing and two scores. The
Rams have won four in a row. They are looking
good for the postseason. As I recall, they will be
hosting Seattle in the finale in a couple weeks. Rams
were down at the Jets nine to six early fourth quarter,
(01:08:47):
but beat New York nineteen to nine. Kyra and Williams
one hundred and twenty two yards rushing in a TD
Rams have won four straight as mentioned. Meanwhile, the Giants
have lost ten in a row. They lost it Atlanta
thirty four to seven. Giants two and thirteen drew Locke
in New York.
Speaker 6 (01:09:02):
Through two pick sixes. In this game, Falcons wide receiver
Drake London left with a hamstring injury. B John Robinson
ninety four yards rushing two touchdowns. This is a notable
decision because with the Tampa Bay loss tonight, the Falcons
are now tied for first with the Bucks in their division.
But head to head, Atlanta has beaten Tampa Bay twice,
so the Bucks are currently sitting at eight and seven
(01:09:23):
and on the outside chasing a playoff spot in the NFC.
Cincinnati and Detroit each one, Indianapolis and Carolina as well.
Panthers in overtime beat Arizona thirty six to thirty. Penn
State will be facing Boise State next on New Year's Eve.
In the Fiesta Bowl. Texas goes to the Peach Bowl
on New Year's versus Arizona State, which is won six
(01:09:43):
in a row. Texas is twelve to two this year,
it's only two losses to Georgia. Number one ranked Oregon
is off until it's Rose Bowl quarterfinal, the rematch with
Ohio State. The buck Guys lost in mid October at
Oregon thirty two to thirty one. Number two Georgia is
off until it's Sugar Bowl quarterfinal New York Night against
Notre Dame, which defeated Indiana in the first round Friday
(01:10:03):
night in the NBA wins for Houston, Indiana and Denver
won in overtime at New Orleans. Pelicans have lost seven straight.
The Phillies traded for pitcher Jesus Lusardo from Miami. The
Nationals acquired first baseman Nathaniel Low from Texas.
Speaker 3 (01:10:17):
Back to you, thanks, Steve.
Speaker 2 (01:10:19):
We're coming to you alive from the tire rack dot
Com Studios with the stinking genius Arnie Spaniard. I'm Chris
Plank here. I hunted this down. Here's Josh Allen talking.
Speaker 3 (01:10:28):
About the elbow to kick off his presser. Yeah, little elbow.
Speaker 8 (01:10:32):
I don't know if it was the elbow or helmet
or the ground, but lost some feeling in my hand,
just hit the funny bone nerve and went to throw
the ball and just had no feeling in the hand.
So it's.
Speaker 3 (01:10:47):
Tough on. Yeah, he didn't. He didn't really seem to
be no concerned about it.
Speaker 1 (01:10:51):
He'll be fine from my medical expertise, he'll be fine. Chris,
don't worry about it.
Speaker 3 (01:10:56):
What about Jalen Hurts?
Speaker 1 (01:10:57):
Then, well, Jay, that's a different story there. They bring
him back next game. It just goes to show you.
I don't think he'll be out any longer than that.
I know he I was surprised they kept him out
of the rest of this game. I knew right away
though he had a concussion. You could tell him by
the way you looked, you know it is.
Speaker 2 (01:11:17):
It is kind of wild how some people perceive things
like I watched all of the Eagles Washington game. It was.
It was on here with our local affiliate news I
think it's News nine or Fox twenty five here in Oklahoma,
and I watched the whole thing, and Eagle fans or
irate with Joe Davis because they felt like he downplayed
(01:11:39):
the Jalen Hurts injury, and I kind of thought to myself,
how about Davonte Smith not drop a ball on a
wide open play on what was that with that third down?
Fourth down, whatever it was, and you win the football game?
You know, if he makes that catch, you win the
game regardless. And I just a broadcaster under selling an injury.
(01:11:59):
That's where we're gonna get mad about Philly and not
your defense not able to shut the door after forcing
five When's the last time a team won a game
forcing five freaking turn.
Speaker 1 (01:12:09):
I can't remember. I was gonna ask the Segur that
I can't remember the last time that has ever happened
with five turnovers and still able to win.
Speaker 3 (01:12:16):
I haven't seen it.
Speaker 1 (01:12:18):
Did GoF how many interceptions?
Speaker 4 (01:12:20):
You know what?
Speaker 2 (01:12:20):
That's funny. Goff had it earlier this year. That's right,
he had five picks without a Monday night football game.
Showed you how quickly we forget things. Whenever he was
four picks?
Speaker 3 (01:12:29):
Was it five? Was it five? Hold on golf? Five
picks in a game?
Speaker 2 (01:12:33):
Let's see what pops up here on the old Google
h He's only the third quarterback since nineteen ninety one
to throw five interceptions in a game, and.
Speaker 3 (01:12:41):
It was on Sunday Night Football.
Speaker 1 (01:12:42):
That's why they called me Einstein.
Speaker 3 (01:12:44):
Well, I mean you said, is it five rutes? Four knew?
Speaker 1 (01:12:48):
Right?
Speaker 3 (01:12:49):
Do you remember who it was against?
Speaker 1 (01:12:52):
Yeah? I just I don't want to ruin it.
Speaker 3 (01:12:53):
Come on, Einstein, tell me I got it right here
in front of it.
Speaker 1 (01:12:56):
I forget he doesn't remember.
Speaker 3 (01:12:58):
Yeah, that's right.
Speaker 2 (01:12:58):
It's the Houston Texans and we watched again. I guess
it's Saxon's man. A quick text here before we grab
a break casting couch rus just not the same for
me anymore with this current layout in football.
Speaker 3 (01:13:12):
I remember how much I eat college football.
Speaker 2 (01:13:14):
I remember how much I used to look forward to
watching the Fiesta Orange Roads, et cetera. My kid and
I still talk about the Orange Bowl game with Oklahoma,
who we hated, and Boise stayed in the Fiesta Bowl.
Those are the best games ever.
Speaker 1 (01:13:25):
Yeah, well, I told you, Chris. I brought this up
a long time ago. When once this twelve team playoff
got going, all the other bowl games would be insignificant.
Even myself, Chris, Even if there's a game on, if
it's a good matchup, I doubt I'm watching the whole
three and a half hours of it. I'm really tuned
into the playoffs. And you know, when I was talking
to the brand though, He's like, this is a historic
(01:13:48):
Even Colin was saying, this is a historic It's what
people want to see. I think everything else is pretty
much insignificant right now.
Speaker 3 (01:13:58):
I just enjoy it, You're right.
Speaker 2 (01:14:00):
I mean, gosh, everyone that covers college football just loves
to grinch and mound, don't they.
Speaker 1 (01:14:07):
No, But if I told you the NFL playoffs was starting.
Oh and by the way, the Dolphins are playing the
Raiders that weekend too, you'd say, so what who that
wantsn't see that? Right? You don't?
Speaker 2 (01:14:16):
I mean, especially with the way these two teams are
playing right now, absolutely right exactly.
Speaker 1 (01:14:21):
So you know what, if you're not in the playoffs,
everything else is insignificant.
Speaker 3 (01:14:25):
Yeah, exactly. All right, we got a break.
Speaker 2 (01:14:27):
When we come back, Steve Sager with Everything news notes,
tidbit white from week sixteen next right here on Fox
Sports Radio. It's already in playing, coming to you Alive
from Thetirack dot Com studios. Don't forget our podcast when
we're done. If you missed anything, The Poddle Drop Patrick
Lavid loaded up. Just search Fox Sports Radio. However you

(01:14:50):
Search Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your podcast, and
you'll see this show posted right after we get off
the air.
Speaker 3 (01:14:55):
What's going on, Steve Sager?
Speaker 6 (01:14:56):
Apparently it's you asked the question about five turnovers in
an NFL game and still winning said game, which Washington
did at home today. Yes, the Lions did that with
the win at Houston. Dolphins won such a game against
Houston three years ago. Real and famously, the Jaguars had
a big playoff comeback against Brandon Staley's Chargers which involved
(01:15:18):
five Jacksonville turnovers and a huge halftime deficit and still
a win in that game. As for other stuff from
the NFL, the San Francisco forty nine ers at six
and nine were officially eliminated today with that loss at Miami.
They're very close to clinching a last play schedule now
for next season. It's often we see the stat that
a team that loses the Super Bowl one year often
(01:15:39):
doesn't get to the super Bowl or maybe out early
in the playoffs the next year. But it's not often
in the last fifteen twenty years that the team that
was in the Super Bowl has a losing record the
very next year.
Speaker 1 (01:15:49):
Well, thank goodness to get the quarterback whisper though, So
that's fine, okay.
Speaker 3 (01:15:52):
Stinking genius in your college picks.
Speaker 6 (01:15:55):
And yet with San Francisco, this is twice in the
last five years that they've been in the Super Bowl
one year and had a losing record. The Vigia rob
deer Kyle Shanahan. And this is a great stat from
Associated Press in the Bay Area. What is Kyle Shanahan's record?
I mean, any game, regular season, playoffs, when he's down
(01:16:15):
by at least eight points in the fourth quarter, has
he never won?
Speaker 7 (01:16:19):
Correct? That's oh oh and forty three.
Speaker 1 (01:16:22):
Oh g I'm shocked.
Speaker 7 (01:16:23):
He's down eight points or more.
Speaker 6 (01:16:25):
And he was down with a couple of minutes to
go at Miami twenty two to seventeen and brock Purty
through the interception. So one writer has pointed out that
Shanahan and Sean McVay were each hired as head coaches
in twenty seventeen same division. McVeigh with the Rams win today,
has clinched a seventh winning season in his eight years
for Shanahan. It's four losing seasons and four winning seasons
(01:16:48):
in his eight years. Washington's Jade and Daniels not only
missed all the turnovers for his team, not only got
to win over Philadelphia, but on the ground he had
nine carries eighty one yards rushing. He's getting close to
the record for rushing yards by a rookie quarterback his
first season in the league. Robert Griffin eight hundred and
fifteen yards rushing is the mark set over a decade ago.
(01:17:09):
Daniels is up close to seven forty on the ground
so far this year. And Joe Burrow broke a Tom
Brady record today. He got the win three more touchdown
passes against the Browns today. That means now in seven
straight games, Joe Burrows had at least two hundred and
fifty yards passing and three touchdowns in each game, breaking
a Brady mark. At the other end of the spectrum,
(01:17:30):
the Giants have lost ten in a row. They're the
only two to thirteen teams, so with a couple games
to go on the schedule for everybody, the Giants have
the inside look at the number one overall draft pick.
Speaker 1 (01:17:42):
I need them in the win next week too. This
is killing me.
Speaker 6 (01:17:45):
Yeah, needing the Giants to win. That's a sentence most
people don't say. There are five teams that have won
only three games this year, but that includes Las Vegas
and Jacksonville, and Jacksonville lost head to head at Las
Vegas today. Keep in mind that Christmas is Wednesday. We've
got two games in the NFL this Wednesday, but unless
(01:18:05):
you're in those cities, it's only on Netflix. And this
is going to be a tough public view. Usually, even
for Thursday night football streaming, you can go to the
local sports grill and see it, and they'll have the packet.
DirecTV's not picking this up. I've read, and certainly, certainly
some restaurants are not going to be open on Christmas anyway,
and some are not going to pay for this thing
(01:18:27):
just to get Netflix when they may not have a
lot of people visiting.
Speaker 1 (01:18:30):
I think I have it too.
Speaker 6 (01:18:32):
I think I have it so Netflix page, I've read
three years worth of Christmas games. They've got to this Wednesday,
Chiefs at Steelers and then Ravens at Texans. Then there's
the usual Thursday night game streaming with Seattle at Chicago.
And as we get to late season. They don't have
to worry about college football games interrupting them. Or yeah,
(01:18:52):
go ahead, put as many Saturday games on as you want.
Speaker 3 (01:18:54):
NFL.
Speaker 6 (01:18:55):
They're going to have three this Saturday, starting with Chargers
at Patriots. Then it's Broncos at Cincinnati Saturday, and then
Cardinals at Rams. The Rams won their fourth straight game today,
came back to win against the Jets, nine and six.
The record and this means that the Rams not only
could be division winner, could be number three seed in
the NFC after such a horrible start and such horrible
(01:19:17):
health for this team early season. The Buffalo win over
New England was twenty four to twenty one. Bills were
down fourteen to nothing in the second quarter. A key,
as it turned out, one of the Buffalo tds came
on a fumble recovery in the end zone. New England
had three turnovers, so lucky they got that sold lucky
absolutely because it wound up with the late score three
point win. Bills had thirteen penalties in this one, seven
(01:19:40):
of them resulted in first downs for New England, but
the Patriots have lost five straight. The Bills are still
undefeated at home seven to zero. James Cook eleven carries,
one hundred yards, two total touchdowns, and Carolina beat Arizona
in overtime. James Connor left with a knee injury. Arizona
is eliminated.
Speaker 2 (01:19:57):
Great stuff, Steve, Yeah, Arizona, who was looking like they
were in a pretty good spot a couple.
Speaker 3 (01:20:01):
Of weeks, in a couple of months.
Speaker 1 (01:20:03):
That's it. Yeah, exactly on.
Speaker 3 (01:20:04):
The outside looking in. All right.
Speaker 2 (01:20:06):
When we come back after week sixteen, we know this.
Plus more of your tweets as we roll through a
Sunday night into a Monday morning, Happy holidays everybody. Hopefully
you're getting a few days off and you're hanging with
us Arnie and Plank on a busy Sunday night right
here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (01:20:23):
Here we go Power Hour, Baby.
Speaker 2 (01:20:26):

Speaker 8 (01:20:44):
Um?
Speaker 5 (01:20:45):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:20:45):
Just working now? Are you working on Christmas?
Speaker 4 (01:20:47):
Or No?
Speaker 3 (01:20:48):
I'm not?
Speaker 2 (01:20:49):
I am not see I think I think the boss
Man was kind enough to give me the night. I
still got young kids, you know, so it's still kind
of a big deal to have that around. And then
I've got a bowl game to cover on the twenty seven,
So I mean usually that kind of has cut into
a couple of opportunities that I have.
Speaker 3 (01:21:05):
And not only is it a bowl game, Arnie, it's
a bowl game that kicks off at eleven am. Wow, so.
Speaker 2 (01:21:13):
I get to go and listen, I'm not dumping on it.
We're gonna have a no, we won't to have a
show before the bowl game. My gosh, that's Friday, So
I'm not dumping on it. I love Fort Worth and
I'm pumped to be going to the Armed Forces Bowl.
But eleven am for a bowl game that's not like
a January one bowl, Yeah, kind of kind of loses
(01:21:35):
a little bit of luster, doesn't it. Tickets are plentiful.
I'm sure you know what that and I cannot confirm
and or deny. I guess maybe is one way to
look at it. But I'm willing to bet if you
go to the Armed Forces Bowl website, Arnie, you can
find yourself from tickets.
Speaker 3 (01:21:48):
If you want to come hang with me on deciper.
Speaker 1 (01:21:49):
If you want to fight, if you want to fight
the crowd of three to four hundred people, maybe.
Speaker 3 (01:21:54):
Oh well it'll be more than that. You sold out,
sold out. It's a lot.
Speaker 2 (01:21:56):
And see, Arnie, when you go to bowl games. I
know you're not familiar with this because your team on
a Bowl game in a while, each team gets in
a lot. Well I can't say that because you beat
us last year, but you get allotment. And uh, for
some reason, Oklahoma sold a lot of tickets. Oh you
versus Navy. I talked to Brent Vinables this week and
he had a funny line. He said, no one in
America is going to be pulling for us, and I
had to laugh, because you're playing Navy, right you want
(01:22:18):
You're playing Navy and the Armed Forces Bowl. Everyone wants
to see Navy win. But hey, so Shay's home, wife's around.
No one's sneaking out on you. Right.
Speaker 1 (01:22:27):
Well, my brother in law and sister and law they're
in town, so we're going to probably go to their
rich house and kind of spend a little time there.
And then of course I'm working Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday
with Bernie Fraddle, Thursday with Martin Wis and then you
and I do Christmas New Year's Eve. Few years we
get New Year's Off.
Speaker 3 (01:22:47):
I love that. That's great.
Speaker 1 (01:22:48):
I'm looking forward to that.
Speaker 2 (01:22:49):
Yeah, sitting around watching I mean the Blues and the
Blackhawks are playing in the Winter Classic for the hockey
nuts out there. And then you have all the bowl games, right,
you have New Year's Eve, which, why am I blinking
right now? One of the games is on New year
I think it's the you know what I'm gonna going
to guess, But the other three games are on January one,
So you get one New Year's Eve game and you
get the rest of them on January one. Four the
(01:23:10):
college football playoffs, and then you know, we might be
leading into a final week of the NFL season, Arnie,
where it could be a winner take all for Minnesota
and Detroit as we talked about earlier, as both team
pickup wins today. So that's State boys New Year's anah,
thank you? Okay, So I knew one of those four
was on New Year's Eve. And by the way, how
(01:23:30):
much does it I know I'm not picking on Jeff
Schwartz by any stretching the imagination or Buddy George Reistere.
They're diehard Oregon fans, but you gotta kind of be
kicking yourself that, you know, in the second round you
don't You don't get a Boise State or in Arizona State.
Speaker 3 (01:23:46):
You get Ohio State, right exactly, which might.
Speaker 2 (01:23:50):
Have been one of the most impressive teams that we
saw in the first round of the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (01:23:55):
Right in Ohio State. Who would you pick?
Speaker 2 (01:23:57):
I threw this up last night, Ohio State, Texas, Penn State,
or Notre Dame. Who was the most impressive team for
you in the first round of the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (01:24:06):
First round of the playoffs? Gosh was Ohio State. But
that Texas offense was just so dominant.
Speaker 3 (01:24:13):
I just when they decided to run the football right,
Oh my goodness.
Speaker 1 (01:24:16):
But they're not going to do that against a lot
of other teams out there. So I'm gonna have to
say Ohio State, they were flexing their muscle. They were
taking out that Michigan loss. Oh Tennessee is what they
were doing that. That was an impressive performance, no doubt
about that.
Speaker 2 (01:24:30):
I s thinking genius. It's that time every Sunday night
during the NFL season we do this. It's a recap
of week sixteen. So here we go, after week sixteen,
I know this. Where do you want to start?
Speaker 1 (01:24:41):
Well, I brought this up in our once. I just
want to reiterate this after week sixteen. I know this
after my Dolphins beat San Francisco and we looked into
how they're going to make the playoffs. Miami Dolphins are
going to make the playoffs. Out there, That's what's going
to happen. They are going to get the two losses
by Denver. They're gonna lose it Cincinnati the city, and
that means all I need is that coach laws to
(01:25:03):
the Giants, which scares me because the Giants really want
that number one pick, so you know who knows, who
knows how crappy they're going to play that. That's the
only thing that scares me about that. Still think the
Chargers could lose two at the Patriots and at your
Vegas team. We'll see how that works out. Awesome.
Speaker 3 (01:25:19):
I don't know about that.
Speaker 2 (01:25:20):
I will say though, it is you what people want
to try to get mad at the Raiders for winning
a game, right, Look a look at you. You're seven
and eight and you're trying to push that team into
the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (01:25:33):
What are you even doing right now? Better than no?
Speaker 1 (01:25:35):
No, no, no, we're not really seven in eight. Let's
be honest. Okay, then what are six and five? So
those games, those games, well, really seven and four is
what we really are?
Speaker 3 (01:25:48):
Then what sho are you giving you as a win
that we're taking.
Speaker 1 (01:25:51):
I'm taking the three losses that two didn't play and
throwing those out.
Speaker 2 (01:25:56):
Down after Week sixteen, which is still weird for me
because we used to have a sixteen game regular season.
Oh I think at one point we had just a
sixteen week regular season. After Week sixteen, I know this.
I think I'm buying stock in the vikings now. I
told everyone last got flying. Yeah, it took me a
while to enjoy it because I didn't know how long
(01:26:18):
lasting it would be. And I still don't know if
I trust them going into the playoffs. But even after
they gave up twenty four today to the Seattle Seahawks,
Sam Darnold's not making mistakes, they're not turning the football over.
Justin Jefferson looks uncoverable, and I just they've got a
good combination going right now. They still can't run the
(01:26:39):
ball as much as I would like to see. I
contend to run the football, right, I think it was. Yeah,
twenty four carries eighty one yards three point four and
you got Aaron Jones and they used cam Akers sparingly.
Sam Donald can run if necessary, But I don't think
you really want that. I don't trust their running game.
(01:26:59):
But man, Brian Flores, Holy smokes, Arnie, I think I
want Brian Flores to be the coach of the Raiders.
Speaker 6 (01:27:04):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (01:27:05):
I mean that's how that's how impressive the Vikings defense
has been.
Speaker 3 (01:27:08):
They're just a witch.
Speaker 2 (01:27:10):
So it took me a while, fifteen games, sixteen weeks,
but I'm in on the Vikings and I think they're
gonna be the one seed in the NFC adding into
the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (01:27:20):
So give me all that Viking stock right now.
Speaker 1 (01:27:22):
All right, I'll tell you what if we're gonna do
that out, I'll go to buy some stock after week sixteen.
I know this, and they're pretty much my team also
along with the Dolphins, and that's my Los Angeles rams.
Look what they're doing. They've turned it on. They're making
some noise. Don't want to play them in the first round.
They look really good. They're gonna be a three seed,
(01:27:43):
gonna be a good matchup against what Green Bay. They'll
take that one. I love what the Rams are doing
right now, watch out after weeks.
Speaker 3 (01:27:51):
Do you know what I'll back you up on that.
I do too, I do too. Now.
Speaker 2 (01:27:56):
It wasn't pretty today against the Jets. By the way,
when did this? When did this fawning all over?
Speaker 5 (01:28:02):
Now?
Speaker 2 (01:28:02):
And I know Aaron Aaron Rodgers took a lot of
criticism this week. It was kind of it was almost
it was almost piling on.
Speaker 3 (01:28:11):
Right.
Speaker 2 (01:28:12):
You had the I still don't know what he was
fighting with the dude from ESPN about. Then you had
ESPN guys calling him like a fraud and things of
that age, right right right, I still don't know what
that's about, nor do I care. But the Jets are
bad and they actually look okay at times today. I
know Aaron Rodgers got a little dinged up, but it
(01:28:32):
took him till now for him and DeVante Adams to
have a little chemistry.
Speaker 1 (01:28:36):
Right.
Speaker 2 (01:28:36):
But I wonder if they're going to run it back
because I saw all over Twitter's like, oh, look at
Aaron Rodgers and DeVante Adams trying to make their case
to come back in twenty twenty.
Speaker 3 (01:28:46):
Five and in my mind. I'm like, they stink points.
Speaker 2 (01:28:50):
They say's Gordon nine. What are we even doing right now?
If that's gonna be the charge and the push? But
I mean, that was an ugly game, a tough conditions
and a little chill, but that was a what was that?
Speaker 5 (01:29:02):
Was that?
Speaker 2 (01:29:02):
A nine to six game going into the fourth quarter.
So it took a mistake on a muffed punt to
seal the deal for the Jets. For the Rams over
the Jets. Yeah, but I'm with you.
Speaker 3 (01:29:12):
I'm buying all the Rams stock right now. I like
them a lot. Now. We did this last year.
Speaker 2 (01:29:17):
Let me remind you, guys, we did this with the
Rams last year, right Everyone fell in love with them
down the stretch. They were a team that no one
wanted to see in the first round of the playoffs,
and they got beat. But they gave the Lions all
they could handle in that first round game. All right
after Week sixteen, I think I know this, but I
don't know, So I'm asking the I'm asking the fan
for help here. The Falcons looked like a different team today,
(01:29:41):
and I don't know but it was because they made
the quarterback change, or if it's because they were playing
the Giants. Now they had a seventeen to seven halftime lead,
and Michael Pennix looked okay. They made things I thought
pretty as the game, some easy throws, made a pretty
basic for him. He finished eighteen of twenty seven them
for two hundred and two yards, didn't throw a touchdown,
(01:30:02):
had the turnover, didn't get sacked, had a low QBR.
But those things don't really matter to me.
Speaker 3 (01:30:08):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:30:08):
Were you impressed with the highlights and what you saw
for Michael Pennox today, because that was an impressive score
win for the Falcons. They now control their own destiny
to make the playoffs. But I don't know if I
can pin it all on. They finally benched Kirk Cousins.
Speaker 1 (01:30:23):
Oh, that's a good part of it, though I can
see the turnovers left and right when that guy's in
the game. It was a move they had to May
I thought Penis will have a good game and big
better victory. I thought it was great every which way around,
and now we'll get the position they're in. I think
they made the right move, and I think Penix will
be the quarterback for a long long time to go
(01:30:44):
me too, All right, where you want to go next,
all right, And you're gonna disagree. It's weeks.
Speaker 2 (01:30:54):
It's just the timing of your dropouts are and he
are just fantastic. Go ahead and reset that one for
week sixteen ends. And you're gonna disagree with me on
this one.
Speaker 1 (01:31:04):
But we have a game on Thursday with Denver and
San Diego just played. Then we had games on Saturday,
game Sunday, we have a Monday night game, then we
come back with a Wednesday, gay couple of Wednesday games.
The Thursday games, right, isn't too much. It's too much,
(01:31:24):
too much much for you, too much different days, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday, Friday,
just just too much. We got to cut back on
some of this stuff's And the fact that the Chiefs
played three games in eleven days, I think that's crazy. Also,
that's just too many games in such a short time.
Speaker 3 (01:31:43):
I don't disagree with you, man, I don't disagree with you. No, no, no,
I think you're right.
Speaker 2 (01:31:48):
I felt like, if you wanted to do the Christmas thing,
and you wanted to set up a three year deal
with Netflix doing next year, because then you could have Thursday, Friday, Saturday,
and I don't know if there's a leap year in there,
We're to be like Thursdays, Saturday, Monday or something like that.
But Christmas is on a Thursday next year, so it's
gonna be normal. It's like a normal schedule exactly. Even
(01:32:09):
a Friday game is pretty normal. I felt like the
NFL got greedy, and I know that's shocking to nobody,
but I know you like to patch yourself on the back.
I told you a year ago when we saw the
numbers on Christmas, I'm like, it don't matter what day
Christmas is on. The NFL is going to find a
way to play on Christmas and they will forever and ever.
Speaker 1 (01:32:30):
So that's too much, too especially when it's going to
be on a Tuesday.
Speaker 3 (01:32:34):
Yeah, yeah, the Tuesday. But if they found a way
to do it on a Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (01:32:37):
And again, I was listening to Ephrom Salam who's on
right before us here on Fox Sports Radio, and he
played the game so he would know. He goes, listen,
the body doesn't recover. You know, it's it's this isn't
playing a video game. This is out you know, grown men,
elite gladiators. If you will, you just don't recover. It
takes you a while, and to do this to who's
(01:32:59):
on in this mix with the Texans, the Chiefs, the Ravens,
and the Steelers.
Speaker 3 (01:33:06):
It's just Wednesday, right.
Speaker 2 (01:33:08):
It's kind of ridiculous to see the way that they've
done it, but I guess they've made it work.
Speaker 3 (01:33:13):
The Chiefs complaining about it too much.
Speaker 1 (01:33:16):
I think about that two days rest to come back
and play another football game. That's Has there ever ever
been a shorter period of time between games or what
what do you mean?
Speaker 3 (01:33:27):
Two days rest?
Speaker 5 (01:33:28):
Or not?
Speaker 1 (01:33:29):
For Christmas? Between the games.
Speaker 3 (01:33:32):
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, three days rest?
Speaker 1 (01:33:34):
All right, three days rest? But you know you play
on the third day.
Speaker 3 (01:33:39):
Christmas is Wednesday, isn't it.
Speaker 1 (01:33:41):
Yeah, so you get Monday Tuesday off, Sunday they played
on Saturday. Okay, they played Saturday, right about that? So
three days off? Has ever been a shorter period of
time than that?
Speaker 3 (01:33:50):
I don't know, I don't know. It's to me, I
think it's ridiculous. I'm not gonna lie now.
Speaker 2 (01:33:53):
Thanksgiving would be close, right because you play games on
the and I don't think they ever put anyone on
a Monday football game and had him play.
Speaker 3 (01:34:01):
In that Thursday.
Speaker 1 (01:34:02):
Oh, I don't think so.
Speaker 2 (01:34:03):
But there was a lot of Sunday games. You had
the Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and you'd play on Thursday. That's
still ridiculous to me, though, That's absolutely ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (01:34:10):
Well, I don't feel bad because the players voted for that,
because they wanted the extra one hundred thousand dollars or
whatever they get for that game.
Speaker 2 (01:34:16):
Well, and I'll tell you what, I think we're all
going to be watching it. I think it's going to
crash the Netflix servers again all right after week sixteen.
I know this two teams could be in big trouble
with their quarterback issues. Now, again, this goes for the
whole league. You lose your starting quarterback, you're probably in
big trouble. We saw it with Miami this year. We've
seen it throughout history in the National Football League. But
(01:34:39):
I'm concerned about Jalen Hurts. I've seen no have you
seen any updates.
Speaker 1 (01:34:44):
I've seen nothing, nothing, got nothing out of that zero.
Speaker 2 (01:34:47):
And I'm a little bit concerned about Josh Allen. I
know you're not, but those were the two quarterback injuries,
and in fact, I mean Tank Dallas a conversation we
could have for the Texans, that really hurts them as
contenders going far where you know, he probably put them
in a position where I don't know how much juice
they're gonna have going forward in their final two weeks
and then into the playoffs. But Arnie, again, when you
(01:35:10):
have a quarterback talk about I couldn't feel the football
in my hand, and then you see that shot of
the concussion, and you knew right away when Jalen Hurts
got up right, he's like, oh, he's in a rough spot.
I don't know, it's kind of I've raised a few
flags here for the Philadelphia Eagles and the Bills, and
obviously the Texans were to take Dell injuries because I
think it could be a big time Oh.
Speaker 1 (01:35:30):
Can you imagine what the Philly with the fans are
gonna say out there in Philadelphia. They'll roast this team.
They'll be just destroying Serviani and how they wanted this job.
Speaker 2 (01:35:39):
It'll be getting So you know what's gonna be hilarious
is and I say this a lot. Everyone wants to
act like they care about concussions until their quarterback gets
one or a star player gets one.
Speaker 3 (01:35:50):
Kind of like you way do you see Eagle fans.
Speaker 2 (01:35:54):
If Jalen can't go for a couple of weeks, Oh
my goodness, they're gonna be That's just I could Hey
barely got hit. I can hear it now. I can
hear it now on Philly radio. I can hear it
now on Fox Sports Radio. People questioning his toughness. That
was a shot, dude, and my man was out whenever
he got up. I can't believe he was trying to
go back in the game. But to me, I think
(01:36:16):
that is a major storeline to watch over the next
few next few weeks.
Speaker 1 (01:36:20):
By the way, did I give you that trivia question
that was thrown out there? Michael Pendix Junior and Tua
both started Week sixteen, marking the first time to what
him started in since twenty twelve.
Speaker 3 (01:36:34):
Lefties, that's right?
Speaker 2 (01:36:36):
Oh is it really okay? Hold on, don't tell me.
I don't know the answer. I don't know the answer
to this. Twenty twelve.
Speaker 1 (01:36:42):
Twenty twelve is the last time two left handed quarterbacks
started in the NFL on the same week.
Speaker 3 (01:36:49):
Gosh, I don't even know. If I have a guess,
you should get it.
Speaker 1 (01:36:52):
One is very prominent right now.
Speaker 3 (01:36:55):
One is very prominent right now. You see about Steve, No,
that was Steve.
Speaker 2 (01:37:01):
I'm gonna reach on TV Michael Vick, Michael, Michael Vick
is one of them.
Speaker 3 (01:37:05):
Well he's a coach now, Arnie, So that's true.
Speaker 1 (01:37:08):
That's true, Michael Vick.
Speaker 3 (01:37:10):
You know the other one.
Speaker 1 (01:37:10):
But I don't think you're gonna get them.
Speaker 3 (01:37:12):
Okay, who is it?
Speaker 1 (01:37:13):
Tim Tebow?
Speaker 2 (01:37:14):
Yeah, I would not have got that. I could have
sat here and guessed all night long. I would have guessed.
I would have probably guessed Kenny Stabler before I would
have guessed Tim Tebow in twenty twelve. Really, what did
was that when he was with the Broncos twenty thinking,
I think so, yeah, oh my gosh.
Speaker 3 (01:37:34):
Our left handed quarterbacks really that unique anymore? I mean,
you're right, we hardly see him at all.
Speaker 1 (01:37:39):
And yeah, the other one was with Pennick starting at quarterback.
The Falcons feature top eight draft picks of their own,
with Pennix, Vjon Robinson, Drake London, Kyle Pitt's. First time
in forty plus years a team has done that.
Speaker 3 (01:37:55):
Wow, Hey, you know where all the Raiders first round
picks are?
Speaker 2 (01:38:00):
In jail one's work in security at the night club
it's just great the way things are going for our
first drop picks. We at least the Falcons are drafting well.
And what they're win today, they put themselves in position
to win the division. Anything else you want to add,
Arnie before we grab our break and at the locker room.
Speaker 1 (01:38:17):
No, no, I'm good. But yeah, that's some interesting stats
out there. I didn't know there was so many so
little left handed quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (01:38:23):
That's good.
Speaker 2 (01:38:23):
Clue, no clue, All right, when we come back straight
to your reaction next, it's already in Plank on Fox
Sports Radio. I were days away from Christmas Wednesday, so
you've got let me see here. It's a little after midnight.
See you still got yourselves, but two full days you
(01:38:44):
got all the shopping done, all all.
Speaker 1 (01:38:46):
The shopping's done. Actually didn't buy anything for anybody. The presidents.
I usually send out to everybody at work. I haven't
sent out yet, and I, oh you have it, and
I only sent it to you. I'm going to send
it Monday.
Speaker 3 (01:38:59):
Or oh I got you something sweet?
Speaker 1 (01:39:01):
Oh good, good good, I got you a sweet?
Speaker 3 (01:39:04):
Oh you pull over? You're still in excel right?
Speaker 1 (01:39:06):
Well maybe two XL Are you really well?
Speaker 3 (01:39:09):
Okay, I'll fix it. Then I'm glad you said.
Speaker 1 (01:39:13):
What'd you say?
Speaker 7 (01:39:14):
How'd you go up to two XL or weren't you
doing orange theory?
Speaker 1 (01:39:17):
They usually they usually run small, so that's what.
Speaker 3 (01:39:19):
These are bigger. You'll like it.
Speaker 1 (01:39:20):
Well, now you want to know why I want to
join that gym? And they were making fun of me
at the break because I want to join this fancy gym. Right,
it's ten thousand dollars initiation ten and ten thousand and
ten thousand dollars a month.
Speaker 3 (01:39:32):
Yeah, no, you're not joining that.
Speaker 1 (01:39:34):
It is it's in Credit Village in New York City.
Speaker 2 (01:39:37):
Oh my gosh, you'd be working out nextually like Howard Stern.
If you're in that thing, man, that's the only people
that can afford that.
Speaker 3 (01:39:43):
Come on now, really ten brand? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:39:45):
Ten?
Speaker 1 (01:39:47):
Why would you pay that? Even if you have a
lot of money? Why would you?
Speaker 2 (01:39:49):
Because you got no? You know what you do when
you have that kind of money? You you buy a
bunch of players for your college football team, aren't he?
And you make him a national championship calibrity what you
can do?
Speaker 5 (01:40:00):
Hey?
Speaker 2 (01:40:00):
Can I show my favorite stat real quick before we
get to your text? Yes, seats on the show tonight.
This is from the Indiana Notre game Notre Dame game
on Friday night. Indiana coming out of the halftime locker room.
Still relatively close game, right, I mean it's listen, it's
it's probably as you like to say, are the ov
er over, It's it's seventeen to three, right, still live?
Speaker 1 (01:40:23):
Oh not over at that point, No night, Still live,
Still live.
Speaker 2 (01:40:26):
Indiana comes out in the third quarter total plays on
offense or total yards on offense in the third quarter
when they needed it most negative seven, negative seven total yards.
They had four rushing attempts for negative fifteen yards, and
(01:40:49):
they completed one pass for eight yards. They had they
had more penalty yards well, I mean they had two
penalties for seventeen yards and when they needed it most, darnie.
Negative seven yards in a quarter against Notre Dame through
three quarters Indiana on Friday night, one hundred and thirty
one total yards through three quarters.
Speaker 3 (01:41:10):
In the fourth quarter alone garbage time one hundred and
forty seven yards.
Speaker 1 (01:41:14):
Wow. Wow, what a difference that is. By the way,
does the coach does not look like that actor Bosom Buddies.
I'm sure Ebody's talked about that right from with Tom Hanks.
Doesn't he look like that guy.
Speaker 3 (01:41:26):
Boosom Buddies actor? What Peter Scalari?
Speaker 1 (01:41:29):
Yeah, that's it, that's Peter Scalari guy.
Speaker 3 (01:41:32):
Huh. I can't believe I came up with that before
I even had it.
Speaker 1 (01:41:34):
Very good. Yeah, look at that. Good for you?
Speaker 3 (01:41:37):
You know what? He does?
Speaker 1 (01:41:38):
Look like him?
Speaker 2 (01:41:39):
Absolutely rip Peter Scalari, by the way, passed away in
twenty twenty one.
Speaker 3 (01:41:42):
Did not know No, no, I didn't know that.
Speaker 2 (01:41:44):
Sorry, Yeah, he's got a little bit of him. How
about what Nick Saban said to him? Oh, and speaking
of using your broadcast as a bully pulpit, what do
you make of Kirk Kirk Kirk Street just Ohio State
fans man?
Speaker 1 (01:41:58):
What was that all about? Where did that come from?
I didn't see that? And usually he plays it down
in the middle on everything. This is a guy that
won't wear a tie a certain color because you do.
I want to get ripped by the people watching the broadcast.
Where did all that come from?
Speaker 2 (01:42:13):
Then all of a sudden, he just absolutely went off
on what he called him the lunatic fringe.
Speaker 1 (01:42:19):
Right, I know you're out there, but that's a that
phrase has been used a lot for a long, long time,
big fringe.
Speaker 2 (01:42:25):
Oh, I completely agree. But we heard it a lot
this weekend in college football right before yeah before. Well,
you know what, let's let's get.
Speaker 3 (01:42:31):
To Saga out of here on time. We'll get all
your tweets coming up here.
Speaker 1 (01:42:34):
And you can wait. No, come on over time.
Speaker 3 (01:42:38):
No, this Saga has got what's trending. He wants to
get out of here on time.
Speaker 1 (01:42:41):
I gave him Christmas off.
Speaker 3 (01:42:44):
Are you off on Christmas? Steve?
Speaker 7 (01:42:46):
Yeah, I told you I did yoke congract.
Speaker 1 (01:42:51):
Are you working the twenty sixth the Saga? Did I
schedule you for the twenty sixth?
Speaker 6 (01:42:55):
Yeah, I'm always off on the twenty sixth.
Speaker 3 (01:42:57):
Okay, I know there was something behind it too. I'm
ready to By the.
Speaker 1 (01:43:04):
Way, you mentioned I'm such a nice guy.
Speaker 7 (01:43:07):
You mentioned herbstreak. What's behind that?
Speaker 6 (01:43:10):
The guy had to move out of Ohio with his
family because things were so bad with those four years ago.
So you're saying where that's come from. He's seen it
up close with his family.
Speaker 2 (01:43:20):
So my personal favorite moment was aj Hawk was the
guest picker and they showed the private jet landing. You know,
because college game day always has the private Jet aj
Hawk lives a mile from the stadium, so I get it.
It was probably some sort of sponsored deal. But up
here comes a jet aj Hawk and I'm like, he's
(01:43:43):
he's he could bike to the stadium.
Speaker 6 (01:43:44):
I'm sure they're to do something really big with Coastal
Carolina in its bowl game tomorrow morning.
Speaker 3 (01:43:49):
Oh look, that's right.
Speaker 7 (01:43:51):
I believe that game is in their own stadium.
Speaker 3 (01:43:54):
Look out.
Speaker 6 (01:43:55):
So yeah, and then we've got the Christmas Eve Hawaii
Bowls still at San Jose State South Florida, and Fox
TV will have San Diego's Holiday Bowl on Friday night
Syracuse against Washington State. You mentioned stats. I found this
one from Associated Prices. Brandon Aubrey was great again as
Dallas beat Tampa Bay tonight. Aubrey four for four on
field goals hit from forty nine yards from fifty three
(01:44:17):
two made from fifty eight yards out. If you add
up all the yardage of his made field goals this year,
it's a new record. It tops Justin Tucker's record from
twenty sixteen. It's over sixteen hundred total yards of made
field goals because he keeps making from fifty plus like
he did tonight and Cooper Rush had two hundred and
ninety two yards passing one touchdown in the victory, which
(01:44:38):
amazingly according to stat saying, Cooper Rush has beaten four
Heisman winning quarterbacks already in his career, beat Baker Mayfield, Tonight,
Bryce Young last week, Jayden Daniels last month, Joe Burrow
a couple of years.
Speaker 1 (01:44:51):
Is he at starting quarterback in the NFL?
Speaker 7 (01:44:54):
Guys have won jobs by doing this.
Speaker 2 (01:44:57):
Not really, nobody's going to give him a chance starting quarterback,
Cooper Rush.
Speaker 3 (01:45:01):
I can see.
Speaker 6 (01:45:02):
Do you now remember that the opposing quarterback Tonight was
just about out of the league.
Speaker 7 (01:45:06):
It's a couple of years back.
Speaker 6 (01:45:10):
So anyway, it's only thirteen NFL starts for Cooper Rush,
and he's also already beaten four Heisman winners. Who are
the opposing starting quarterbacks? Ceedee Lamb seven catches one hundred
five yards, mostly in the first half Dallas twenty six
to twenty four. The finalist running back Rashad White, fumbled
in the last two minutes. He did have seven receptions
fifty one yards the Bucks, with two turnovers in the
(01:45:30):
last seven minutes of the game, both on superb Dallas
defensive plays. Cowboys earned this home win. They had been
one and six at home. This ends the Bucks four
game winning streak, and it's great news for the Atlanta Falcons,
who are also like Tampa Bay eight and seven right now,
except the Falcons have beaten Tampa Bay twice head to head,
so you might see them tied in the standings for
(01:45:51):
the division crown and the home field playoff game next month.
The Falcons are leading, Tampa Bay is chasing at this point.
Atlanta beat the Giant It's thirty four to seven.
Speaker 7 (01:46:01):
Today.
Speaker 6 (01:46:01):
Giants have lost ten in a row. Bears have lost
nine straight. Detroit beat him thirty four to seventeen, Jared
Goff over three hundred thirty yards passing and three scores
Lions or seven to zero on the road. Cincinnati got
three more touchdown passes from Joe Burrow and beat the
Browns twenty four to six. Cleveland's lost four straight. Colts
thirty eight thirty over Tennessee Jonathan Taylor two hundred and
eighteen yards rushing and three touchdowns. Carolina in overtime defeated Arizona,
(01:46:26):
so officially Arizona is eliminated and the Rams won their
fourth straight nineteen nine over the Jets. In the cold,
Washington beat Philadelphia thirty six thirty three. Philly had won
ten straight. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts left early with a concussion,
and I must mention that as the Raiders got to
win today, they had lost ten straight. B Jackson Baby
(01:46:47):
nineteen fourteen. The rookie tight end Brock Bauers had eleven
catches for ninety nine yards. He's over one hundred receptions
this season.
Speaker 3 (01:46:55):
Wow.
Speaker 6 (01:46:55):
The rookie record is one oh five last year Poka
Nakua of the Rams. He's over one thousand yards receiving.
The only other two tight ends as rookies they've had
the houses one thousand yards receiving at that position Kyle
Pitts and Mike Dicka, who of course played when it
was a much shorter regular season. Buffalo and Miami each
one at home. Minnesota won its eighth straight game. Saints
(01:47:17):
running back Alvin Kamara is out for Monday night at
Green Bay with a groin entry, and Saints wide receiver
Chris o Lave also out with a head injury. Pittsburgh
wide receiver George Pickens could finally be back playing on
Wednesday after the hamstring injury as Pittsburgh will host Kansas
City on Christmas to the NBA late game went to
Denver in overtime. At New Orleans, Nicola jokicch a triple double,
his eleventh of the season. The Phillies traded for pitcher
(01:47:39):
Jesus Lozardo from Miami and an NHL play Florida one
four to two at Tampa Bay.
Speaker 2 (01:47:44):
Back to you, Steve, have a great holiday, Banks See,
I have a good holiday. We'll see you next Sunday
night here on Fox Sports Radio. All right, Arnie to
the Twitter machine. Josh Springs of Josh is on fire.
A couple of you guys are on fire tonight, Josh Wright.
Saturday to Wednesday is the same distance as set as
Sunday to Thursday. I just think, I just think all
(01:48:04):
four teams should have had buys before the Saturday game.
I believe the Ravens and Pittsburgh both had buys the
week before were Chiefs, and the Texans had buys early
in the season. Yeah, they didn't do it very well
as far as setting that up. In my honest opinion,
mister nobody writes, how is it the Arizona Cardinals have
so many weapons on offense, but have a defense that's
(01:48:26):
so pathetic that they can't stop and have their playoff
hopes smashed by an awful Panthers team.
Speaker 1 (01:48:32):
Yeah, and you said a couple of weeks ago they
were sitting in a good position, I think, right there
on top of that division. And now look at them.
They're gone.
Speaker 3 (01:48:38):
They're done.
Speaker 2 (01:48:40):
Five warrids rights mantum finnis. The Vikings have a kicker.
This is definitely going to help us in the playoffs.
Oh wait, just kidding. He is looking pretty good. Don't
want to hold my breath, but the Vikings are pretty convincing.
They convinced me.
Speaker 1 (01:48:53):
How how do you like all these great kickers, especially
like Dallas's kicker kicking like two fifty eight yarders.
Speaker 2 (01:49:00):
Man, it's under you get so I think it's still
what you had seventeen eighteen yards. Yeah the yard line, right,
you get to the forty your field goal range, which
is wild, I mean sixty yarders. By the way, we
haven't we've been on the air for two hours in
thirty seven minutes and we haven't talked about the free
(01:49:21):
kick from Thursday night.
Speaker 1 (01:49:22):
I was just gonna say I was on the air oh,
were you real that's that day what it was happening?
And I that game was on Amazon Prime, right, yes,
I don't have Amazon Prime. Oh studio. So Martin White's
is like, this is the craziest thing ever. Now look
at there lighting up for some time a kick. I've
never seen this, and I go, it must be a
(01:49:45):
free kick. They must have called a fair catch after
a punt, and Rob g the producer comes out and
he goes, that's exactly what happened on you know, I go,
that's the one rule I know that Now if you
catch the kick let's say fifty yard line, that's only
like a sixty one yarder. You could put the ball
(01:50:06):
right there because they don't get the blocking, so you
don't have to go back seventeen yards. I guess is
what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (01:50:12):
You know what blew me away.
Speaker 2 (01:50:13):
I didn't realize a you got the running start, and
I mean al Michaels was all over it.
Speaker 3 (01:50:19):
I didn't know.
Speaker 2 (01:50:19):
I thought it could only be at the end of
the half, of the end of a quarter. No, No,
it could be any time anytime that you want.
Speaker 1 (01:50:25):
Well, why would you want to do it if it's
in the middle of the second and you fair catch it.
Let's say on the thirty five yard line, you want
to try to score a touchdown, you don't want to
kick a field Nay, right there?
Speaker 2 (01:50:36):
And then uh fred on college football? Right, I don't know,
Let me try this text tweet again. Three two one.
I didn't know there were NFL games on Saturday. I
just watched college football and it was awesome. They weren't
the most competitive games, but I think the only game
I really found myself tuning away from was like SMU
(01:50:57):
Penn State.
Speaker 1 (01:50:58):
Like that game just that was the only right I
agree there though, the tendency, as I mentioned in the
Ohio State gamee tore a six point three. The two
NFL games were like seven eight and a seven to
five not too far away. That's pretty strong, though. You
don't have to go up against the NFL by the
eight o'clock game, right, Everything was over by then?
Speaker 3 (01:51:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (01:51:19):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (01:51:19):
Absolutely? In fact, I thought the Raven Steelers game got
over real quick. None your rights. I'd like to see
sixteen teams in the playoff. No buys home field advantage.
In the cold college football looks like it's finally catching up. Yeah,
I think that's what we'll get to eventually.
Speaker 1 (01:51:34):
You know, people like I mentioned earlier now number two
that people were complaining about the four blowouts, disappointment, Indiana
didn't belong, you know, Clemson didn't belong, SMU Tennessee blah
blah blah and all that, But what they didn't really
bring to attention was how great the atmosphere was in
all four places. I mean, it was just fantastic. This
(01:51:54):
is what I love about the college playoffs, and this
is what I want more of. I don't want neutral
sight one because you're really not going to get one
hundred thousand people back then fifty and fifty thousand each.
That's like can happen. And I just totally love the
whole atmosphere of the thing.
Speaker 3 (01:52:10):
Tennessee fans.
Speaker 2 (01:52:11):
I know we haven't heard from our buddy Scotty tonight,
but kudos, right, that was pretty awesome. I told you
this many times throughout the season. I've never seen a
team come into our stadium and take it over, well
at least be on the cusp of taking it over
and then getting to celebrate like Tennessee fan did. It
was the most opposing teams fans I'd ever seen at Oklahoma.
(01:52:35):
That was the most I'd ever seen for an opposing team.
I think at Ohio State too, that was undo.
Speaker 3 (01:52:40):
That's what hurts believable.
Speaker 1 (01:52:41):
Yeah, herb, he said the same.
Speaker 2 (01:52:43):
Thing, Bay Rites. I guess Tampa doesn't want the division either.
Shout out, Bake. That doesn't look like it. Brendan mimod
Raider fans who lack integrity by thinking today's win is
a loss.
Speaker 3 (01:52:54):
Quote.
Speaker 2 (01:52:55):
We don't cheat the game, whether we're sixteen and oh
we're ozho and sixteen. We don't want to irritate the
sports gods. Tanking is a prime example of that. It
cannot be tolerated no matter what. Takan's working out okay
for the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA right now.
That's gonna of course, it helped when the Clippers gave
him Shay Gil Just Alexander Have we really had an
(01:53:16):
NFL team who tanked. The Bears had the first round
pick from the Panther, so that didn't really matter last.
Speaker 3 (01:53:23):
Year, right, right, right?
Speaker 1 (01:53:25):
But Jay, you can work out in your favor. I
think you could take a jet jetty jet tree the ready.
Speaker 2 (01:53:31):
You're not going to take a running back in the
top ten I don't think, right, I mean Ashton Gents
you're talking about, Yeah, you think you would take Ashton Gent.
I mean I think he's awesome. I just don't know
if they'll if he'll be a top ten pick. I personally,
I have cam Ward and Shadoor, Sanders Neconnec and the
Raiders are going to be picking in the top six.
(01:53:52):
And I think if you're picking in the top six,
and in that top six is going to be New
England and Jacksonville, there's gonna be an opportunity to trade up.
So I'm not one of these people that's freaking out
because the Raiders won a game. I'm happy, Arnie. I
hate freaking losing. They've lost ten straight games.
Speaker 3 (01:54:10):
It sucks.
Speaker 2 (01:54:11):
They should have won at least four of those ten
games that they lost, right, I get it. I'll be
the full You can clown on me on the timing
of it. But there's no guarantee that if you get
the number one pick, you're gonna get it a right either.
So I'm just especially the Raiders, what.
Speaker 1 (01:54:27):
Are you gonna do about your quarterback situation? Then? For
next year?
Speaker 2 (01:54:30):
Did you just hear what I said? Someone in that
top six is gonna be willing to trade away their pick.
I think I think you can move up.
Speaker 1 (01:54:36):
And get someone King's ransom.
Speaker 2 (01:54:39):
Okay, if they asking kings ransom, I won't to do it.
I'll take my chances on Jackson Dart or maybe I'll
go get Sam Darna.
Speaker 1 (01:54:46):
Congratulations on having cousins. Then there you go.
Speaker 3 (01:54:49):
No, I don't want Kirk Cousins. Man you can have.
Speaker 2 (01:54:51):
I'll take Derek Carr back before I get Kirk Cousins.
Let's see, there's a couple more I wanted to get to.
We talked about Ricky Henderson right off the top. This
is a good way to wrap it. Ricky Henderson was
a once in a lifetime talent. There's been guys since
him a good hit, home runs and steal bases, but
no one had the ability to steal bases like Ricky.
He made it fun to be an A's fan in
the late eighties early nineties. He can sake a McGuire,
(01:55:14):
Dave Stewart good times. So I got told you. You know,
it's one of those teams that I look back, I
could name their starting lineup. Carnie Lanceford was at third,
Weiss was their short stop. Glynn Hubbard was their second baseman,
Mike Keith and Terry.
Speaker 1 (01:55:29):
Steinbach's call for the Braves too.
Speaker 3 (01:55:31):
I think yes he did. First base was McGuire.
Speaker 2 (01:55:34):
Was Dwayne Murphy still with him out in the outfield
with Ricky Henderson.
Speaker 3 (01:55:38):
It's a fun team man. Bob Welch was a picture
for the A's.
Speaker 1 (01:55:40):
I love the old Dodger. I remember him.
Speaker 2 (01:55:42):
Yeah, he jj ball. Though I wanted to get this in,
he writes, no real surprises. College will never get it right.
Strength of scheduled division, just have to have a big thirty.
I'm tired of the year. After a year complaining about it,
Chiefs get another one. They're going to do it again.
So isn't Buffalo The Lions are getting healthy? Question Mark,
(01:56:04):
let's go well put JJ ball. I think I translated
that to make sense of it. And then one more
start with all the games you called wrong tonight, Arnie,
Merry Christmas to you.
Speaker 1 (01:56:16):
Wow, I don't know what you're talking about. I won
eight to three in one of my NFL picks.
Speaker 3 (01:56:20):
How were the college picks on Saturday?
Speaker 1 (01:56:22):
One, one and five?
Speaker 2 (01:56:23):
Yeah, that's what he's talking about, all right. When we
come back Arnie's picks will take us on perfect feed
at a fill and lead in whatever on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (01:56:33):
Mary Christmas, Mary, I hope you have a great holiday
with the family.
Speaker 2 (01:56:37):
Mary Christmas, Patrick, Steve, the entire Fox Sports Radio crew.
Merry Christmas to you all. Happy holidays, Arnie. Did you
get everything you wanted?
Speaker 3 (01:56:48):
Do you not know yet?
Speaker 1 (01:56:50):
I don't know yet, but I'm sure I will. I'm
not hard to shop for. I just usually get a
bunch of University of Arizona sweatshirts, T shirts, stuff like that.
Speaker 3 (01:57:00):
My wife is the hardest person to shop for on
the planet. In fact, I don't. I mean I literally
will say make me a list.
Speaker 1 (01:57:09):
Oh no, I'll just tell her, just get what you
want and pretend it's for me.
Speaker 3 (01:57:13):
Well that's what I say, And then she's like, well
it means more if it comes from you.
Speaker 1 (01:57:18):
Oh it doesn't. Just get what you want, leave me alone,
and then.
Speaker 2 (01:57:21):
I'll get She'll send we're big Instagram reels because we're old.
Young kids are TikTok olds like me are Instagram reels,
and she'll send me these Instagram reels where some I
don't know, some dude who thinks he's a motivational speaker
but probably cheated on his wife, so he's got to
make all these reels about how great she is.
Speaker 3 (01:57:37):
Says you should never ever have to ask your wife
what she wants. You should know. No, bro, we're not
playing games.
Speaker 2 (01:57:45):
Okay, so you and your goate and your back where
it's at kick rocks, all right, tell people what you want.
Speaker 3 (01:57:51):
Don't play games. Don't play games this holiday season.
Speaker 8 (01:57:54):
Man.
Speaker 2 (01:57:55):
With that said, Arnie's not playing games with your heart
are your money? He was going the NF fell terrible
in college, just terrible in college, but yet refuses to
let me pick college games. So take it away, steaking genius.
What you got on the pick list of this year
eight three and one today? Not too shabby, and people
were giving me grief. You're the worst picker ever.
Speaker 3 (01:58:16):
Really bad, dude, I mean it was really bad in college.
You gotta admit.
Speaker 1 (01:58:21):
I was one in three, big deal, Relax, Relax, is
Aaron Rodgers?
Speaker 3 (01:58:26):
You're one of five?
Speaker 1 (01:58:27):
I think well that that included the two NFL games. Okay,
all right, let's get to the NFL games because I'm
not going to pick.
Speaker 2 (01:58:33):
The next Wait wait, wait, wait, hold on a second.
You went so you went eight and one today eight
three and one. Well, then eight and five and one
in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (01:58:45):
Well we're breaking them up by days now, fair.
Speaker 3 (01:58:48):
Enough, go ahead, I'm sorry, all right?
Speaker 1 (01:58:50):
Uh, Wednesday, I'm going to take Pittsburgh plus the two
and a half against Kansas City, and I'm going to
take the Texans plus the four against baltim More on Thursday.
That's on Christmas. On Thursday, the day after Christmas, I
would have take the Bears plus the three and a
half against Seattle. Then on Saturday, give me the Chargers
(01:59:14):
minus five and a half against the Patriots, Bengals minus
three against the Broncos, and the Rams minus five and
a half against the Cardinals. So there my picks. Do
with them, mister, please no longer strictly for entertainment purposes only.
Speaker 2 (01:59:27):
Would you rather host Christmas or go somewhere? Would you
rather have people to your house or would you rather
go somewhere?
Speaker 1 (01:59:36):
I I'd rather just have people come to my house
because I can kick him out early if I want.
You would do such as I would, I would say
time to go home, everybody. I kind of believe that
get out.
Speaker 3 (01:59:46):
I know.
Speaker 2 (01:59:46):
Actually I got a friend of mine that will He'll
have everything in his house, but you know, you gotta
be gone by nine. He's like he's actually, he hadn't care.
He's just going to bat at nine. He could stay
there all night at you was that kind of like
the Arnie rule? Be gone by eight or nine o'clock
and I'm good.
Speaker 1 (02:00:00):
I'll just walk around in my pajamas and no shirt
on like I always did. A good Evan got there.
Speaker 2 (02:00:05):
You go stick around big Ben mallor we'll kick off
our week coming up next for Mary, for Patrick, for Steve,
for Arnie. I'm Chris Plank. I hope everyone has a
great holiday with friz family and fun. We'll see you
back here next Sunday night on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (02:00:20):
Merry Christmas.
