Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
All live of the dream once again here on a
fully loaded sports Saturday. This is Fox Football Saturday, and
we are broadcasting live from the ti rag dot com
studios tyraq dot com. We're gonna help get you there
on that matt selection, fast reshipping, free road ads or

the way tire buy and should be all right, almost
(00:25):
a halftime right now, Houston Texans have taken a seven
to six lead over Monzie's Chargers. I don't want to
talk about it, so Manzie, the fact that we are
here today. Look, the entire world has been following these
crazy wildfires that have devastated so many people, so many
homes in the southern California areas. So I feel like
(00:46):
everyone listening out there is just curious of you know, like,
what's it been like here in southern California? And it
really here at Fox Sports Radio. Until I heard your
voice at eleven o'clock West Coast time, doing update, I
had no clue whether we were going to have a
show today. My only access to Wi Fi I did
(01:09):
not have power has been off and on in many
areas here in southern California. But when I heard your
voice at eleven o'clock, I'm like, okay. Then I texted
you immediately saying are we going to have a show today?
Speaker 3 (01:23):
Seems that way.
Speaker 4 (01:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
No, I don't think they knew what was happening last night.
Speaker 5 (01:28):
It all happened very unexpectedly and suddenly because of the
fire approaching closer to the station. The Palisades Fire keeps moving,
and so it was definitely something they did as a precaution,
even though it was very close and Sina, which is
an exit down, was being evacuated, So it wasn't like
they were, Okay, we're being extra careful. It was like, no,
(01:50):
we're being careful, but it's right there. You know, my
friend who lives very close to the station send me
a picture. She could see the fire off the freeway.
It just was very close. And for the first time
since I've been here, there was no one here for
twelve hours. Nobody, not even a technical producer was here.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
It doesn't surprise me, and it was the right thing
to do. You know, I live out in the Ventura
County area, so we know about fires. We've had evacuations
in our area out in that Thousand Oaks Westlake Village area.
A couple of times over the years we had some
false alarms as far as evacuation, like they sort of
gave you a heads up and then they would drew it.
(02:30):
So it's constantly changing here. I wish we had more
good news in terms of control of these fires, but
you know, the wind was picking up again a little
bit today, so there's a long way to go. The
damage is unspeakable. I know that people all over the
world are watching these visuals of the Palisades area literally
going up in flames. I want to share a quick
(02:52):
story here. I have a friend of mine, he literally
has lived his entire life in the Palisades to Palisades
High School. The holes were bank and I was thinking
about him obviously during this whole ordeal. And he texted
me this morning and he said, with the help of
(03:13):
a friend who was someone I actually know. I had
no idea was someone who lived two doors down him.
This guy was a lifesaver, for we've saved our house,
like one of the few that's able to salvage that.
So obviously I was thrilled for him and his family.
And then immediately he says, my play of the day
is the under on this first game today under forty two.
(03:34):
And you know, I'm thinking the Texans offense has really struggled.
And I texted him back, I said, there's no way
the Texans are going to score more than fourteen points.
And then he texted me back. The fact that you're
saying that worries me. So someone that I've known for
forty years months he knows full well about my prognostication skills,
(03:57):
the Lockmaster. This is not something it just happened when
I was, you know, starting my radio career. This goes
way back, yeah, to the very beginning, like when Hartman
really liked something go the opposite way.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Well, you know, maybe we'll switch up that trend.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
You know.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
Well, this game is obviously the over under at forty two.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Right now.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
You got thirteen points with thirty nine seconds to go
on the first half of both teams. It's funny with
this game because the Texans offensively did nothing, yeah in
the first quarter, but in the second quarter, all of
a sudden, you look at the stats. Moncie c J.
Stroud twelve of twenty one, one hundred and sixty seven yards,
a touchdown and a pick, and Justin Herbert is just
eight of twenty yeah for ninety seven yards and a pick.
(04:40):
So right now Stroud actually has better numbers than Justin Herbert.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
Yeah, it was definitely a slow star for Houston.
Speaker 5 (04:45):
Chargers seemed to have control of the game, and then
you would think the score was would be different, like
because the Chargers looked good. The Chargers looked better in
the first quarter than the Texas. They just didn't I
don't know, execute in moments that they should have.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
But it's close game. It's close games, so I'm not
gonna get.
Speaker 5 (05:02):
Too sat here yet at seven six, you know the
I'm gonna say it's a little bit of jitters for
the Chargers, right, they're a little nervous.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
Thinking of what happened the last playoff game they played.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
You know she is, they're nervous. Well, they're not gonna
they're not gonna blow a twenty eight point lead in
this game, obviously, let's hope.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
So yeah, don't say that.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
All right, Well, this is gonna be a little bit
nervous time for Mancia, especially because she is a true blue.
She's decked out in her Charger gear today, so she's
definitely got a rooting interest in this game. Definitely, So
we'll definitely have the second half of this game throughout
our show and of course later on while the Steelers
and the Ravens, right the second game of the doubleheader here,
then three games tomorrow, and then of course the Monday
(05:42):
game between the Vikings and the Rams, which was supposed
to be at Sofi Stadium has moved to Phoenix now, Mancia,
as you know, I come back and forth from Phoenix.
I'll actually be back in Phoenix tomorrow. I'm thinking of
maybe trying to get tickets for that game. Right, you
should go get a media pass, right should somehow I
should be able to get into that Gamely, I think
(06:03):
it's going to be a good game. I have a
you know, it's really weird. The Chargers were favored on
the road and the Rams are underdogs at home. Yeah,
so the Rams had home field, the Chargers having to
go on the road. Yet the Chargers are favored on
the road and the Rams are underdogs at home.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
Oh yeah, because they're playing the Vikings.
Speaker 5 (06:21):
It's like that whole Oregon having to face Ohio State.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
Like the seating, just the way it worked out.
Speaker 5 (06:26):
Yeah, the Vikings technically are the better team over the Rams,
so but it is weird.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
It is weird. By the way, I'm sorry, how come
why am I not getting kudos from my predictions on
the college football playoffs? I literally have called the entire playoff,
right I predict? I predicted that all four schools that
had to buy would lose, which they did, And then
I said it's going to be Ohio State and Notre Dame,
(06:52):
which it is. Yeah, here's Ohio State, right, the number
eight seed the eight seed, so you're going to have
the five seed versus the eight seed for the national championship.
An Ohio State team, by the way, that for one
hundred percent certain would not have made the playoff if
it was a four school playoff. Notre Dame probably would
(07:15):
have been in the four school playoff. Ohio State after
losing to Michigan, no chance, no way, know, how would
they been in the playoff. And you could say, well,
good news, bad news. Well, I mean the idea of
expanding the playoff is getting more schools and opportunity to
win a national championship. It was a major hiccup for
an Ohio State team. The most people thought all season
long was the most talented team in the country.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
They had that narrow most expensive team.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
Well exactly, you know, you get what to pay for it.
So in the end, if Ohio State does beat Notre Dame,
and I really have a hard time in this game
because imagine this. If you're if you were a kid
in my era and you're a USC Trojan football fan,
which I was growing up because my dad went to USC,
(08:01):
your two biggest rivals were Notre forget UCLA, it was
Notre Dame that was the big game every year because
many times had national championship implications, and then they would
seemingly play Ohio State in the rose ball every year. So,
I mean, I can't think growing up the two teams
I hated most were Notre Dame and Ohio State. That's
a hard game for me to watch because I really
(08:24):
it's not even like there's an underdog here. I'm two legendary,
obviously storied programs going ahead to have but I just
don't have any rooting interest.
Speaker 5 (08:33):
Is it just USC fans though I feel like football
fans in.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
General, well, they're dominant programs. I mean, when you're dominant programs,
you build a lot of enemies, is what you do.
I mean, that's what happened. That's what happens.
Speaker 5 (08:45):
No, Yeah, I just I'm wondering how we're gonna talk
to Aaron Torres later. Yeah, I wonder how he feels
on these two, because I don't I don't care, right,
I did pick Notre Dame to win that game, so
I was there Ohio State. I thought Oregon was gonna win.
I thought they were on a nice little high. But
you know, Ohio had to come back and prove their
poy after. I think Chris Purfett is waving at us
(09:07):
because I think he has something to say.
Speaker 6 (09:08):
Ask Chris, I just want to ask you guys, couldn't
maybe be going the opposite way is that we've had
to do endure SEC propaganda and SEC teams so long
that college football fans are looking at this as a
title with no SEC team involved whatsoever. Well, I mean,
it's got to be a little refreshing in their reguard,
doesn't it anybody.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
Watching SEC football that didn't have a bias. And by
the way, a field goal attempt is good by the Texans.
So the Texans literally in the last minute of the
half put up ten points. I don't know because I
made my prediction and all of a sudden they came
back and they got a field goal out of this.
Speaker 5 (09:47):
So this, this Nickelodeon broadcast is like throwing me off here.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
Yeah, don't look at that. Watch one of the other
one watched the other screen.
Speaker 3 (09:54):
I can't help but look at the neck.
Speaker 5 (09:56):
I guess I had never watched the Nickelodeon broadcast with
all this stuff on the green and then like the
screen is giving me that I should feel good about
my self vibes when I don't.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Feel good about myself.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
You know what I'm saying. So I'm confused here.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
I'm sorry what you like. I know people are like, dude,
you know, we get it, like your old school, But
is that really even necessarily.
Speaker 3 (10:17):
It's not I'm telling you the colors all I'm supposed
to feel good. I don't feel good right now.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
I mean, they do this even with Super Bowls. I'm like,
who's watching that?
Speaker 4 (10:26):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (10:26):
Me me? Really that's how you watch the super Bowl?
Really know? But I like the Nickelodeon. I like SpongeBob
and Patrick No, I mean because you made him.
Speaker 5 (10:35):
Feel bad now he's lying to us. He does he
definitely watches the super Bowl like this.
Speaker 7 (10:39):
No one that has would have watched the super Bowl,
but if I would, would I flip back and forth absolutely.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
Because you want to see SpongeBob like this.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
I want to hear the funny things. They'll say, Well,
I understand were you named after Patrick? I mean, I
was born in ninety five. SpongeBob came off after me
that much job because I remember my two boys, who
were born in nineteen ninety six. In nineteen ninety eight,
I can I'll never forget this. They were in our
(11:08):
bedroom the you know this before my daughter was born,
and we just had them watching some TV cartoons and
I was in the other room and they are I
started laughing, the two of them out of their minds
in there, like two four something like that. I walk in,
I go, what are you watching? They're like SpongeBob.
Speaker 7 (11:23):
I'm like, hell, spirca nineteen ninety nine, Patrick Sweek circa
nineteen ninety five.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
But maybe you were an inspiration. I'm not sure, but anyway,
an inspiration of me. So I'm saying maybe an inspiration.
And I was watching this show and I'm thinking, Wow,
there's a lot of innuendo in this show, Like there's
adult humor in this thing. There is mascarading as a
(11:52):
kid's cartoon. I mean a lot. Yes this Tason, I
was laughing and I'm like.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
Oh, that's what they mean.
Speaker 2 (11:58):
There's a if not no, just that's something we wish

Speaker 2 (13:04):
Steve Harvin, Monsey, Belognias Here Fox Football Saturday. We're coming
live from the Tairaq dot com studios halftime the Texans
leading the Chargers by a score of ten to six.
Later the Steelers and Ravens, and then three games tomorrow
Broncos at the Bills, Packers at the Eagles, Commanders at
the Bucks, and then Monday night Vikings Rams. Because of
(13:25):
what's happening here in SoCal, that game has been moved
to Arizona. Johnny is right now is our Fox Sports
Radio NFL insider Adam Kaplan. And Adam, I'm sure you're
wondering how crazy things are here, and they are crazy
by the second. I mean, we had a situation at
Fox Sports Radio where this building was empty for twelve
(13:47):
hours and then Monsey re entered the building coming up
about eleven o'clock West Coast time. So we're here now,
but we're watching football, and we're also watching the news
with constant updates on what is a continuing spread of
the you know, the two major fires, but the one
(14:07):
that affects us where we are in Sherman Oaks. Of
course is the Palisades fire and what is the containment now?
Wantzi like eight percent or something like that. Yeah, it
is crazy, absolutely crazy. Let's start with that Vikings Rams game.
You know, my mindset on this game was the fact
that the Vikings really had to be devastated, not just
(14:31):
losing that game to Detroit, but the way they lost.
And for the first time, because we've been saying this
all year long about the Vikings, the Vikings will be
fine if Sam Darnold holds up, and there was no
sign that he wouldn't, but he did not play well
in that game against the Lions. He had opportunities early
in that game. He seemed rattled in that game. They
(14:53):
should have taken more advantage of, you know, the great
receivers they had against a depleted Lion secondary, and they
weren't able to do that. So what do you think
of the Viking's mindset is going into this playoff game
against the Rams.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
I mean, other than the game being moved obviously, which
is just you know you it's a way game. Anyway,
It's a weird deal. Four team, you know, to be
fourteen three have a fifth seed to worse. It's bizarre,
but it is what it is. What happened last week
is very simple. Lions came into the game knowing that
if they do not get pressure on Donald, they will
get blown out. Like they had to bring the heat.
(15:27):
They're not good at corner. That the one issue that
the Lions go into the playoffs with is a major
issue at cornerback. Charry and Arnold. The rookie is a starter,
obviously him. They're playing a slock corner. Meek Robertson, He's
really never been an outside corner. He did a great
job last week. By the way, on Justin Jefferson. The
pressure helped. I give Aaron Glenn credit. It was very
(15:48):
obvious early in the game he was gonna be relentless
with a past rusher. Wasn't about the amount of sacks.
It wasn't like they got a ton of them. It
was the amount of pressure that they got on Donald.
He he looked bad. I mean, he finely looked bad.
He look rattled. Steve, I thought you called it correct.
I give Glenn credit. And they knew they knew this
was like a playoff game because they knew what the
(16:08):
ramifications were if they lost and it was just a
credible atmosphere in Detroit last Sunday night. It was great.
And you know the Vikings do you know they got
home early Monday morning, but of course the game is
on Monday night, so it'll be okay. But that so
the blueprint. You know, sometimes people overrate what a blueprint
would be the Rams. The one thing the Rams have
(16:31):
on the defensive front, it's absolute speed. They're not it's
not like they're a heavy blitzing team. But you know
what we now have seen this that the Vikings have
gotten away with not having the best offensive line of
football probably bottom half. It struggled last Sunday night. I
mean that was a major struggle.
Speaker 3 (16:50):
Adam, why are the Chargers cursed.
Speaker 1 (16:54):
In terms of the way that they played the first half? Yeah,
they should work with it. Yeah, well, first of all,
they have four first downs in like the four of
the first five plays. Like wow, this yeah, this is unbelievable.
This is not like the Chargers. The usually don't come
out throwing, but it was ominous when they were only
up six to nothing, I'm scratching my head. I'm like,
this is not good. Yeah, I'm like most of the
(17:15):
you don't have to pick game for my friends at
Sports Sportsquad. I have to pick every game by the
number I was on like the rest of the country.
The Charges minus three, I mean, I just don't I
didn't see it. Second quarter was terrible. The craziness of
that that touchdown drive from Stroud running for his life,
and then and then then that scrambled which was terrific.
When he made the great throw when he which seemed
(17:36):
like a miracle throw, then he scrambled. This is not Look,
there's been turnovers, not that there have been three turnovers
in the first half. Not the best played game. But
the Chargers got to scratch their head here because when JK.
Dobbins plays, they play really well. Their offense is really struggled.
One thing they have to do is they're going to
have to dress the tight end position on third down.
(17:57):
You need a tight end. Cats football risk Disley, who
came up from Seattle's what we call hy tennant. He's
an in line ten and they need an athlete at
ten end, which they do not have right now.
Speaker 2 (18:06):
All right, let's sidetrack from the games for a moment
here to talk about the coaching situation you get. You
said it Brian Dable would survive. We knew Peterson was
going to go, We said Pierce was going to go.
What about the Mayo firing? And apparently it looks like
Rabel's going to be the guy. And then the question
is why wasn't Rabel the guy last year? Yeah, so
let let's let's talk a little bit about what happened
(18:29):
with New England. I mean Mayo. I mean, it's a
bad look, to say the least, for your ownership to
get rid of a coach that obviously had by all accounts,
the weakest roster in the NFL this season. I thought
they were competitive in a lot of games based on
the talent they put out on the field and a
(18:49):
rookie quarterback. But for Robert Kraft, it's a it's a
bad look because we we thought last year that Verbel,
you know, leaving Tennessee, was a prime candidate and obvious
candidate for the Patriots' job. And he goes and and
had a legacy player in Mayo and then fires him
after one year. It's a bad look.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
It is. It was certainly a bizarre situation. So let
me bring inside the situation with my reporting on the situation, so,
and I hate I hate this term, but I'm just
going to give you what multiple people told me. Girod
got in over ski, so to speak. He just couldn't
reach his players, wasn't disciplined enough. And Team Sours told
(19:28):
me early on they saw some bad signs and it
got away from Gerrod. It's just one of the things, Steve.
I'm just telling you the truth. This is what happened.
I mean, people ask me a question, and my job
is to tell you the truth. He was in over
his head, it was It is what I think, the
right guy at the wrong time, and it's probably the
best way to say it. I just think like he
(19:49):
needed a couple more years of seasoning as an assistant coach,
then maybe he'd be ready. He clearly was not ready.
And you're not wrong about the roster was terrible. The
roster's bad. Their schedule is pretty tough. They had some
games with the He played really, really well and you
saw the quarterback Drake may make some strides. Wasn't great,
but he certainly shows he could play in this league.
But I just don't think he was ready. In fact,
multiple people told me that that was probably due over
(20:13):
and I'll give you another nugget, I believe from one
person who interviewed for a job with their personnel staff
got the same in February. He could tell in the
meeting that he had with management that they were completely
sure if May was ready.
Speaker 2 (20:26):
So it is what it is Ben Johnson.
Speaker 5 (20:28):
Last year everyone thought he was going to end up
as a coach somewhere, and here he is again a
lot of interest.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
Any chance that he opts to not take ahead coaching john.
Speaker 1 (20:39):
Again this months. Last year there was a little fit.
There's a fingerpointing between he and Washington. It was very bizarre.
I still don't have quite Nobody seems to know exactly
what happened. I believe he felt there were some promises
that were made and they weren't cap But I would
(21:00):
tell you that I don't think that's going to matter.
He wants to be head coach now watch Jacksonville. He
decided to take the interview now, which surprised me only
because of Trent Balky, the general manager who not everybody
likes around the National Football League. Trent's a good personnel man, Bud,
He's been a divisive person. Certainly asked Jim Harble that
(21:22):
that's another story for another time. That could be a
that could actually be an hour show, and with what
happened between those two men many years ago, So that's
an interesting one. The one that I think has got
the best juice going for him would be Chicago because
he wants a quarterback, which you would get. They have
outstanding offensive talent. Now there's a problem which I wrote
for Pro Football Network Gosh last March that and now
(21:44):
everybody's on it. Who covers the team locally, he said,
Kevin Warren, the team president who came from the Big twelve,
is heavily involved in football operations. There's a concern that
Ryan pulls a general manager and Warren may not work
so well together for for years to come, and that
could scare off Ben Johnson. I'm just gonna give you
what people have told me. So you got to keep
(22:04):
an eye on that. He wants to be a head coach. Okay,
if it works out, he's going to be a head
coach this year. He would have been one last year,
but he kind of made it clear to a lot
of teams. He wasn't interested in a lot of the openings,
is what I was told. So, but here's the other thing.
And this happened actually many years ago with Denver. I
give you another nugget here. So they actually wanted to
have a chance to hire Kevin O'Connell over Nate Hackett,
(22:27):
but they were not willing to wait. And I think
that's I see, this is what happens. Dan Quinn went
for this in twenty thirteen to twenty fourteen with the Browns.
I know the Browns told me they regretted it. He
was coaching I think in the Super Bowl or coaching
deep in the playoffs with Seattle, and the Browns were
not willing to wait, and they should have waited. If
you've got and I know that you can't hire anyone yet,
(22:49):
but you got to have a wink wick nod nod
deal with an agent. You can do that undercover like
you just you could just you know, everybody keeps it quiet.
So that's the thing here, that's the underds Austin a
reported situation is the longer these coaches go in the
playoffs sometimes sometimes it's not good for them because teams
aren't willing to wait for them.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
Well, Mike McCarthy be the coach of the Cowboys in
twenty twenty five.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
I would be surprised if he's not. I'm just going
to say that. I'm not saying it's a lock. Last week,
you know, I gave you what I know about day ball.
The signs were that both got to be back, and
that happened. I don't put percentages on anything. I never
do unless I'm involved, because I've been fulled before with percentages.
But when teams steve, When teams give me percentages, sometimes
they change by the day, so it's foolish to do it.
(23:35):
Jerry wants him back, Mike would like to be back.
They got to work the contract out now, Jerry. Look
if he offers them a two year extension. I mean,
if I'm Mike McCarthy, I tell him to get lost
and I go somewhere else. There are other teams. Teams
will be interested in McCarthy. That's not a problem, but
they have to resolve the situation. Remember his contract is
over on Tuesday. That one is. But the one the
(23:55):
most bizarre, clearly is the Raider situation. Folks. That one
typical raider, I mean Mark Davis takes after his late father,
Al who where he delays something. Let's the head coach
talk then, he fires them. The next day, reporters were
told that Tom Telesco is staying and they got fired
later than the week. It's bizarre.
Speaker 5 (24:11):
Yeah, last one here, uh Odell Buckham Junior. You think
he's gonna sign with the team.
Speaker 1 (24:17):
Well, the question with Odella's Monsei, does he have anything left? Yeah,
he's a fourth, not even a third at this point.
He's a fourth receiver now said it's about Odella's. He
knows he's played in West Coast offense. He's playing non
West Coast. He knows the terminology. I keep an eye
on it. Again, you're just signing for death. I mean,
he's clearly at the end of his car, he said.
(24:38):
So many injuries. Yeah, it's too bad. It's the boy.
I remember speaking with one of their coaches after he
was drafted. We're talking about the Giants here, and they
thought he'd be a Hall of Fame player. I mean
that that's how gifted he was. But just too many injuries.
Speaker 2 (24:53):
All right, Final thing for me, I'm looking at tomorrow's
playoffs schedule Broncos Broncos at the.
Speaker 1 (25:02):
Ten with about a nine point dog.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
Yeah, so I not only picked the Broncos to make
the playoffs. But in our in house prediction, I predicted
the Broncos and finished ten and seven.
Speaker 1 (25:12):
Oh, I thought, you're pick the bill.
Speaker 2 (25:14):
No, no, no, no, I'm not taking the Broncos down. I just
had to make in the playoffs. I'm going to figure
out any way to get to New Orleans. I know
you're gonna take me to Antoines, Right, is that where
we're going?
Speaker 1 (25:25):
I thought?
Speaker 2 (25:34):
Anyway. You know, here's the great thing about New Orleans
and for us in the sports industry all these years, Uh,
there's no bad eats in New Orleans. I mean, I
mean you go to the biggest die bar in the
middle of the night, order some gumbo and it is mouthwater.
Speaker 1 (25:48):
If you look to eat healthy like me, do not
go Do not go there, thick You're gonna eat well.
And I remember the last time I was there, it
was tough sledding trying to eat well.
Speaker 2 (25:55):
We did the Zurich Golf Classic here at Fox Sports
Radio three straight years. We even had two uh Emeralds
we want Emeralds restaurant.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
That right?
Speaker 2 (26:06):
All three years really because we had golfers, PGA golfers
were there and and selected media and we were treated
like unbelievable. It was unlated. Oh he was great, and
then you know he was explaining each meal like East phase.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
Oh do you have any pictures?
Speaker 2 (26:25):
I don't, but I know someone that does.
Speaker 1 (26:27):
Oh yeah, one of my producers.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
Because he passed out. It was a long story. I'll
share it with you sometime later. But I am looking
forward to uh, you know, I don't know, Smashburg or
something like.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
That, something like that. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (26:41):
Well, the Chargers just got a break because the Texans
got the ball to open the second half. We're going
down the field and fumbled and the Chargers got the
ball back. So it's still ten to six Texans. Great stuff.
It's always enjoyed the football. Adam will talk to you
next week.
Speaker 1 (26:54):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (26:54):
Adam Kaplan joined its there at Fox Sports Radio NFL Insider.
Now let's find out what is trending and a man
like Moncey, it just it's musical chairs here at Fox
Sports Radio today because Chris Bophett is now manning.
Speaker 6 (27:10):
The updates, right, I was the first person back in
here and I refuse to leave. And Steve, I want
to ask you right now, why just do that to Mancy?
Speaker 4 (27:18):
Do it?
Speaker 6 (27:18):
Because because he said that the Chargers had the ball
that off off off of a turnover, right off, Yeah,
off a turnover, and what had just happened as you
guys were finishing up. The Chargers went for it on
fourth down from the thirty three yard line, and uh
he was short.
Speaker 2 (27:36):
D was short? Yes, fourth and two. It was third
and two the previous play.
Speaker 7 (27:39):
It was.
Speaker 2 (27:41):
This entire second half. I will make little comments throughout
the second half of this game that will literally determine
which team will win this game.
Speaker 6 (27:49):
Ten minutes left in the third quarter, Texans now with
the ball and that was really the story of the
first half was a blitz in the final minute.
Speaker 2 (27:58):
Crowd looking throwing over the middle, Costa go lot E
Gos Cutch God Koston. But Texas time the game, they
can take the lead that the extra point.
Speaker 6 (28:08):
They did take the lead with the extra point, and
then a few seconds later it was marching right back
down the field Kymie Fairbairn field goal before they have
to make this game its current score ten to six.
We are looking at a interesting quarterback development here for
Raven Steelers. Later today, Ian Rapport reporting that the Steelers
are planning to use justin fields at quarterback. It has
(28:31):
been Russell Wilson for quite some time now in the season,
and they might no no clue if that's going to
be who's starting, or if there will be some you know,
adding in justin fields into the mix. The Boston Globe
is reporting that Patriots are closing in on a deal
that would make Mike Vrabel the new New England Patriots
head coach. As we've kind of known all along, Patriots
(28:54):
have interviewed other candidates for the job, but Mike Rable
seems to be the front runner right now. The Chicago
Bears earlier today finished an interview with Allions defensive coordinator
Aaron Glenn, finishing off Aaron Glenn's own wild weekend of
interview jobs out there. Three NBA games tonight have been postponed. Hornets, Clippers, Spurs,
(29:17):
Lakers have been postponed due to the wildfires that are
happening here in Los Angeles that we are currently sitting
through and see watching how that unfolds. And the Atlanta Hawks,
their game against the Houston Rockets has been postponed due
to icy weather and the winter storm that's currently cutting
through northern Georgia and indeed most parts of the Eastern
(29:39):
United States. Right now, I believe we have a late
late in the third quarter. Right now, Phoenix Suns seventy eight,
Utah Jazz seventy, Monsey and Steve back to you as
we continue football, football, football and hold on hopefully the
Chargers holding on for dear life.
Speaker 2 (29:58):
All right, well, right now, thank you, Chris. It is
the Houston Texans with the ball again nine and a
half minutes ago in the third quarter, and the Texans
lead this game by a score of ten to six.
They are nearing midfield right now. And again this is
a Texans team that struggle mightily almost won their division
by default. Well not almost they did, I mean it
(30:19):
was an awful division, by the way. We're comany live
from the tyraq dot com studios. So today the Associated
Press announced the All Pro team. Yes, and Lamar Jackson
was the overwhelming pick at quarterback. He got thirty three
first place votes, Josh Allen got fifteen, and Joe Burrow
(30:41):
only got two. Yeah, so that probably is an omen
since the same group votes for the MVP Award. You know,
Lamar Jackson's going to do that. Forty one touchdowns, four
picks this year for Lamar Jackson. Oh, that's right, and
he also ran for nine hundred yards. I mean, it's
a little hard to argue against that. What's interesting today
about this game later on with the Steelers. So you know,
(31:02):
the Steelers literally stagger into this game. They lost their
last four games. And for everything we've said about Mike
Tomlin never having a losing season, I mean, his career
record six thirty winning percentage, he's ticketed for the Hall
of Fame, He's got a Hall of Fame resume, but
he hasn't won a playoff game in eight years. It's
been eight years since the Steelers won a playoff game.
(31:26):
And if there's all this talk about Justin Fields may
get the nod over Russell Wills, that's not a good
omen going into a game on the road against a
Ravens team that is clicking right now.
Speaker 5 (31:37):
Yeah, I don't know if he's going to get the start,
but they're implying that they're going to use him to
spark their offense. And we'll see exactly what that means.
Is that one play? Is it several plays?
Speaker 2 (31:47):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (31:48):
I had no idea it had been eight years since
Pittsburgh won a playoff. The Ravens should win. They should win,
but it is a divisional game. Is a team that
knows the race and knows Lamar Jackson plays well against
the against the Ravens and knows him better than maybe
any other team that like not just plays well, but
(32:09):
plays really tough against them. And the Steelers, I feel like,
are coming into is obviously wanting to win, but maybe
feeling like they have nothing to lose.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
The way that the season ended.
Speaker 5 (32:18):
Was not good, not good, especially because they were on
such a good high.
Speaker 2 (32:23):
You know, like I'm with you, Moncie again. You said
it right there. Division games division The Ravens should win.
Do realize no two coaches have coached more games against
each other than those two than John Harbaugh and Mike Tomlin.
I believe it's an if it's not the NFL record,
it's like second all time. Yeah, you know, I think
(32:43):
maybe George hallis Curly Lambert with something some crazy thing
in the past. But I mean, these two guys know
each other so well. Obviously they've been there forever for
both of these teams. You know, two games every year,
throwing a playoff game. There's nothing the other guy is
gonna throw at them that they haven't seen before or
can prepare for exactly. So it really comes down to execution.
(33:04):
The thing the Steelers obviously can't do is turn the
ball over, obviously, and they've got to play an absolutely
clean game, not give up big plays, you know, force
force the Ravens to actually have to sweat a little
bit in this game. And if it.
Speaker 5 (33:20):
Gets late, maybe maybe it's true because they beat the
Ravens without scoring a touchdown. Yes, they just protected the
ball and scored what they could because we know lately
their offense has been very questionable. But yes, maybe there's
a chance because this is a divisional game.
Speaker 2 (33:38):
But the Ravens should win. They should win. Oh see
what happens? Coming up with the sad, We're going to
start breaking down some of these other games. Three games tomorrow,
Broncos at the Bills, Packers at the Eagles, Commanders at
the Bucks. Which one is the most intriguing matchup? We'll
tell you. This is Fox Football Saturday.

Speaker 2 (34:08):
Steve Harman Monciblanias here Fox Football Saturday. We're coming live
from the tire rack dot Com studios. Well, there's a
lot of ab and flowing this game between the Chargers
and the Texans. So the Chargers leading, or excuse me,
the Texans leading ten to six. Joe Mixman broke one
up the middle down to the five yard line of
the Chargers. There was a holding call though against the Texans,
(34:30):
and then the next play they went for it all
and Derwin James interception in the end zone. They're reviewing
the play right now, but it appears.
Speaker 3 (34:41):
They overturned it.
Speaker 2 (34:44):
It looks like Houston has the ball.
Speaker 5 (34:45):
It looks like Joe Mixon was called for unnecessary roughness.
Speaker 2 (34:50):
How are they saying that's not an interception? Okay, I'm
a little confused, Patrick, what's going on in this game?
Bring us up today? What we had a unnecessary roughness
call against the Texans on a play where Derwin James
intercepted the ball. My question on this play was was
Derwin James down in the end zone? I mean there
(35:11):
was contact as that considered down because he ran the.
Speaker 7 (35:14):
Ball out, it is an interception. It's just I think
they're doing the unnecessary roughness after the fact.
Speaker 2 (35:18):
No, I actually think they reversed it.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
They did.
Speaker 6 (35:21):
It's second and thirty. It was overturned on review. It
is now an incomplete pass.
Speaker 2 (35:27):
So they say he didn't have the ball. They're saying
the ball hit the ground right there as Derwin James
rolled over, so look you but watch the end right there.
They're calling that not an interception. So what happened was
it was first and fifteen. Incomplete pass, makes it second
(35:47):
and fifteen minus the fifteen yard unnecessary roughness. So now
it's second and thirty. But they're saying the ball right
there touches the ground and it's not a catch. I
am trying. I kind of compose myself.
Speaker 3 (36:01):
I know you are on air and I can't say
the things I want to say.
Speaker 2 (36:05):
Well, for more, we were sitting We're like, wow, what
an incredible interception by Derwin James. Would they We didn't
even think about the fact that the ball hit the
ground at all, But upon review they showed one angle
where it's like uh okay uh, But then they get
tacked on a fifteen yard penalty for unnecessary roughness after
(36:26):
the interception. Here's here's one understand. So if the pass
was incomplete, why would anything that happen after the incomplete
matter mass right, I'm with you, unless the unnecessary roughness
hand simultaneously, But it seemed that that was after the interception.
So I'm confused here. But here's here's the bottom line.
(36:48):
We got six minutes fifty one seconds ago on the
third quarter and the Houston Texans now have a second
and thirty at the Chargers thirty eight yard line. So
confusion everywhere, but you know, it just it goes with
the because of the game. I don't know. This is
a weird game. It is.
Speaker 5 (37:08):
It's a little bit sloppy, it's a little bit drunk,
it's a little bit of everything. The first quarter was
one thing where you just felt like the Chargers were
coming out hot, and then the second quarter, all of
a sudden, Texans take the lead.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
But it's messy. Well, right now, the Texan just got
called for a holding penalty, So now we're looking at
second and forty. Yes, just give us the ball back.
At this point, at one point, Mixing had run the
ball to the five yard line. Now they're like a midfield.
Speaker 3 (37:40):
And it's second and forty.
Speaker 2 (37:41):
Second and forty. I'm trying to fair, what is the
most yards we've ever seen? Now third and fifty. I mean,
forty is a rare number, Steve.
Speaker 5 (37:50):
If Houston scores right now, I am gonna lose it.
Speaker 2 (37:54):
So they seemingly were at the five yard line. Now
they're at the forty nine yard line. That's an off
side against the charges of play. Chargers had an off
side pass is incomplete, but chargers were off side. So
now saying this is the longest drive in the history,
the longest drive.
Speaker 5 (38:10):
But thank goodness, I have SpongeBob on my screen with Patrick.
Speaker 2 (38:13):
Yes, thank you, Patrick?
Speaker 1 (38:15):
Can you do it?
Speaker 2 (38:16):
Patrick? Is are you good with doing? Patrick? Yeah? Hold on?
Getting is mayonnaise? So so I was asking him because
we can't hear, I said, what is Patrick saying to
break down? Give me a little sample of his analysis
of this game? Well, there, CJ Stroad. He's throwing on
(38:38):
the go. That's pretty good, Patrick, Patrick, Thank you, referees.
Price Squaver like personal found. Look at cat.
Speaker 3 (38:51):
Dog is stretched out across the screen.
Speaker 2 (38:53):
That's what that is, right, that's cat dog? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (38:56):
Oh my goodness, Okay, all right, I may be starting
get on board.
Speaker 2 (39:00):
With all of these graphics.
Speaker 3 (39:02):
Maybe I'm on board all of a sudden.
Speaker 2 (39:05):
Patrick, I don't you know me? I I'm honest about everything, right,
I mean I say things that people like, why are
you talking about that? Nobody talks about that, like literally nobody,
I mean nobody, nobody talks about the things you talk
about like and we really don't care. So but you
(39:25):
just incessantly talk about things that really no one cares about.
But I'm gonna be honest with Patrick. When I first
met you and they're like, this is Patrick, I immediately immediately
like there was only one individual that I associate the
name Patrick with and that's on SpongeBob. I mean, well,
so immediately I was just like there was a connection.
Speaker 7 (39:48):
Well my initials RP and S and Patrick Star Patrick Sweek.
Speaker 2 (39:52):
I mean, what's the difference? That It really unbelievable. All right,
So right now we now have a fourth down for
the Texans, and what happened. TIMI Fairbairn, the former UCLA
kicker who's been wildly inconsistent for the Texans this year,
is now going to attempt a thirty seven yard field
goal to try to make this a seven point game.
(40:15):
And the kick is good. All right, So thirteen to six,
Texans Leader. We'll have more on this game, and yes,
we'll break down the whole slate of wildcard games. This
is Fox Football Saturday, rolling along on this beginning of
a wildcard weekend in the National Football League. This is
Fox Football Saturday. We are broadcasting live from the tire
(40:38):
rack dot Com studios tyrack dot com and I'll get
you there, and I'm Matt Selection, fastree shipping, free road
aser protection, over ten thousand recommended installers, tire rack dot Com,
the way tire buying should be. Texans lead the Chargers
thirteen to six. But some of these numbers total yards
in this game. Houston three point thirty nine, the Chargers
(41:01):
one hundred and forty six. I mean, that's complete domination
in terms of total yards. And the Chargers got off
to a fast start, you know, wasted opportunity on that
opening drive where you're going right down the field, had
to settle for a field goal, got the ball back
wholesome moving. But since then this offense has done nothing
and Justin Herbert is just ten of twenty three for
(41:24):
only one hundred and eighteen yards, no touchdowns. He's thrown
in an interception, been sacked a couple of times. He
has a passer rating of just forty one. And this
is again the kind of game where if you are
Justin Herbert and trying to get your name in the
conversation of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL, you need
to produce in games like this. Obviously, plenty of time
(41:45):
to turn this thing around, but right now, this Chargers
offense Montsie, I hate to say it to you, is
struggling big time.
Speaker 5 (41:54):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I feel bamboozled, if I'm being honest here.
Speaker 2 (41:59):
After that opening drive of how the Chargers came out.
Speaker 5 (42:02):
Looked real good, looked real good, and I was like,
all right, and that now I feel like I'm watching
a completely different game than what I started watching.
Speaker 2 (42:10):
I am not a happy camper.
Speaker 5 (42:12):
I agree with you, Justin Herbert, who I think is phenomenal,
does need to deliver in these moments. And I said
at halftime it's just Jitters. He's a little nervous, you know,
especially after a last playoff game that he experienced. But
they have not come out any different in the second half.
In fact, they look maybe even flatter. And it's not
(42:33):
even that the Texans are looking that much better. It's
just that they are executing a little bit better than
the Chargers, and.
Speaker 2 (42:42):
I'm just I'm upset. I'm upset at what I'm watching. Well,
the good news is it's still a seven point game.
And both these teams game seem to be fumbling all
over the place. The defenses are forcing turnovers, and it
just it's said the total yards.
Speaker 5 (43:00):
It's like in the third quarter, Like, what what did
the Chargers do in the third quarter?
Speaker 2 (43:05):
Nothing? Well, I mean, like I said, the over. What
I mean again, when when the game when you have
total yards of three forty one six? Uh? You know,
and and by the way, three turnovers in this game
for the Texans. Yeah, so you have three turnovers in
this game and then a fourth that was overturned after
(43:25):
they claimed that the Derwin James interception of the ball
hit the ground.
Speaker 1 (43:29):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (43:30):
But this is where the Chargers have to get going.
This is where Justin Herbert has to show himself.
Speaker 5 (43:34):
Absolutely they got the ball back. But out of those
three turnovers, they got one.
Speaker 2 (43:37):
Fit did he just throw an interception? He just throw
an interception? He did just throw an interception, and it
is a pick six went right through the receiver's hands.
Where does was that the mccaukey. I don't know, did
he even have his hands on it.
Speaker 5 (43:50):
It looked like he jumped, but I couldn't tell if
he even put his hands up.
Speaker 2 (43:54):
It went right through his hands, I mean, like right
through them, not a hip Like I gotta watch a
replay right there, but Houston has scored. There's no penalty
flags on the field, so let's watch this. Herbert is
throwing this pass, threw his hands, threw mccaukee's hands, and
it is to the hands of a Texan, right, that's
(44:16):
the problem when you have a shorter receiver. I mean
McConkie obviously has had a fabulous rookie season, but yeah,
a high pass like that for a oh my, I mean.
Speaker 5 (44:27):
Yes, he he should have caught that. I went through
his hands, but that the Texan was at the right
spot at the right time and then got a pick
six out of it.
Speaker 2 (44:36):
Wow, So nineteen six penning the extra point, the Texans
with the lead thirteen seconds to go.
Speaker 5 (44:43):
Literally, what happened at the end of the second quarter
when Houston got those ten points with like two and
a half minutes left in the freaking first half, and
now here we are ending the damp third quarter and
they get a.
Speaker 2 (44:53):
Okay, you know what we need to do here mont
See to take you my No, we're gonna watch and SpongeBob.
Speaker 3 (45:01):
Yeah, all the bubbles again confusing me.
Speaker 2 (45:03):
He's trying to make me feel good and I'm not.
Extra point is good. Twenty to six. Texans lead the Charges.
But again, if Justin Herbert is as good as everyone
hypes him up to be, overcoming a two touchdown deficit
in a full quarter against a not really good Texans
(45:24):
team is possible. It is possible, and when you are
an elite quarterback, you do it.
Speaker 1 (45:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (45:32):
This was my knock on Philip Rivers. For years with
the Chargers. People will always talk about he was a
great I don't know. Every time I would look up
and they needed to make plays at the end of
the game, he failed. Sure he had some exceptions. Sure
he had some great games. If he play that long,
you're gonna have some really good finishes. But I remember
(45:53):
early on with Justin Herbert, I said, this guy, he's
like Philip Rivers two point zero. Don't say that Philip
Rivers is going to be in the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 5 (46:02):
I understand if people say that, Yeah, but but I
need a little bit more than a Philip Rivers, you
know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (46:08):
Exactly? They thought they were going to have that exactly.
All right. I want to ask you about a game tomorrow. Okay,
based on the points spread, this would seem to be
the game in terms of competitiveness tomorrow. That would be
the Washing Commanders on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
(46:28):
And it's hard for me to believe that Baker Mayfield
threw for forty five hundred yards forty one touchdowns and
did not make the Pro Bowl and the guy that
knocked him out was Jayden Daniels. Yeah, and you can
make obviously an argument for Jayde Denils not to knock him.
He's going to be offensive Rookie of the Year. I mean,
he had an incredible rookie season. This was a Commander's team,
by the way, that won four games last year.
Speaker 4 (46:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (46:49):
I would love to know what pushed for it to
be Jaden Daniels, because, yeah, they have.
Speaker 2 (46:53):
The better record.
Speaker 5 (46:54):
But I think what Baker Mayfield did with the Buccaneers
losing his offensive weapons won for the whole season. And uh,
Mike Evans for at least the four weeks and still
kept them afloat like it was Baker Mayfield.
Speaker 3 (47:06):
So I'm with you.
Speaker 5 (47:07):
I can't believe that I'm super excited to watch this
game because Marshawn Latimore is gonna play, and we know
how much he and Mike Evans love each.
Speaker 2 (47:15):
Other on the field.
Speaker 5 (47:16):
So it's going to be definitely a fight to the end,
I think, and I don't expect a lopsited win by
either team, but I would take the Buccaneers.
Speaker 2 (47:29):
On this one. Well, I mean, they're at home. It
should be some kind of advantage for the Buccaneers in
this game. I mean, I don't look at the Bills
broncos of this competitive Eagles Packers. By the way, Patrick,
when we do our game day geniuses, oh yeah, we
are picking every playoff game. All right, let's do it.
(47:49):
Let's do it. He's trying to do to catch up.
You see the strategy. So again, we're gonna play. We're
gonna I'm doing something here, I got it. Let me
ask you this. Okay, this is a desperate time. Yeah,
I know, Okay, I know that we only pick winners
(48:10):
in the game. Can we use the spreads?
Speaker 3 (48:13):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (48:14):
In other words, pick the game against the spread. Okay,
are you okay with that? Patrick? Well, I meant, asked Monsie.
It's up to her. She's the one with the commanding lead.
Right now, I'm running out of games.
Speaker 5 (48:25):
You are running out of games. So instead of picking
just straight up the winner, you.
Speaker 2 (48:27):
Want to, right, you have to pick the winner versus
the spread. Yeah, okay, sure we can do that, all right,
so we have. We didn't obviously pick this. I'll tell
you why I'm leaning Texans in this game.
Speaker 5 (48:38):
Are you I swear you lose a.
Speaker 2 (48:42):
Point, I lose ten points, you get three points. So
we're going to pick five games against the spread, and
then uh, we can the same thing with the over
under and you know, if you.
Speaker 3 (48:55):
Want everything else, just okay.
Speaker 2 (48:56):
That's the same. Okay, so we'll play against the spread. Okay,
I'm trying desperately. Yes, you are as this because I mean, like,
who's gonna be You're gonna be anybody gonna pick the Broncos.
Speaker 4 (49:06):
No?
Speaker 2 (49:06):
Are you going to pick the Packers on the road
against the Eagles? Maybe?
Speaker 5 (49:10):
So if you get the right, if the team wins
but doesn't cover the spread, you lose, lose?
Speaker 3 (49:13):
Do you or do you get zero.
Speaker 2 (49:15):
You know each is zero zero, Yeah, the only plus
minus the Okay.
Speaker 5 (49:20):
I'm just making sure that you're trying to throw a
curveball at me.
Speaker 2 (49:23):
I understand it. I would be committing suicide if I
did that, because I know Chats. I mean, this is
a long shot to begin with. But anyway, I agree
with you though. The Commander's Bucks game to me is
going to be the best game of the day tomorrow,
and then you know, from that point on, I I
really don't know how this is going to play out.
The Lions just seem like such a juggernaut at this point,
(49:46):
the way they completely dismantled the Vikings in the second
half of the game. They dominated that game in the end.
And so we've been sort of saying all year long, yeah,
the lines have had injuries, but they have the best
talent and they just I mean it was like a
low scoring game. You look up thirty plus points again.
Speaker 5 (50:06):
Yeah, No, their defense definitely did their job against the Vikings,
which is where everybody was like, they don't have their
defensive players.
Speaker 2 (50:12):
They're playing man coverage against Justin Jefferson. I was like,
what are you doing? And they got away with.
Speaker 5 (50:19):
It and they did get away with it. You dismiss
the Packers and the Eagles.
Speaker 2 (50:24):
I didn't, and I'm not one hundred percent dismissive of that.
The Eagles still we did. First of all, we really
don't know how healthy either one of these quarterbacks is
for the game. Fair, I mean, Jalen Hurst, Jordan Love,
I mean, both these guys are coming off injury. So
how healthy are they. Yeah, we'll have a big determining
factor on who fares in that game.
Speaker 5 (50:42):
Yet, I was just surprised because you kind of maybe
not dismissed it, but kind of just went over it.
Speaker 2 (50:47):
So I was I was a little surprised. I'm trying.
I'm trying to taint your pick in that game. You see,
I'm playing them. I'm trying to play a mind game.
It always works against me, but I'm still playing to
play it. All right. So right now, we are just
starting the fourth quarter charge trailing the Texans twenty to six,
and Justin Herbert trying to make things happen. And now
he's got the ball down to the thirty nine yard
(51:07):
line of the Texas, so they're on the move right now.
And again, great quarterbacks find a way. I'm not giving
up on your Chargers yet. Yeah, I don't do it yet.
Coming up on the other side, we now are down
to two for the college football Playoff Championship, Ohio State
and Notre Dame. We're gonna check in with our Fox
(51:27):
Sports Radio cohort, the one and only Aaron torre Is.
This is Fox Football Saturday, Steve Hartman and month Seablo
on us here on Fox Football Saturday. We're coming live
from the tire rack dot Com studios. And don't forget
after the show. The podcast is going up, So if
you missed any of today's show, check out the podcast.

Fox Sports Radio wherever we get your podcasts. See the
show posted right after we get off the air. Well,
the Texans, after the third interception of the game by
Justin Herbert, settled for a field goal twenty three to
six Houston Texans, surprising the Chargers, who were favored in
(52:13):
this game twelve minutes ago. In the fourth court. It's
been a rough afternoon for Monci Belania's. By the way,
the last two interceptions that Herbert threw went right through
the hands of the receiver, through the hands of the receiver,
right through the hands. All right, we are down to
two with the college Football Playoff, the first ever expanded
(52:33):
college football playoff, maybe the first ever legit college football playoff,
and we ended up with a five seed versus an
eight seed. How did we get here? Well, there's only
one guy that can really break it down like no other,
and he, of course is our legendary Fox Sports radio host,
the great Aaron Torres has joining us right now. Aaron,
by the way, are you surprised at what you're watching
(52:53):
right now in this game between the Texans and the Chargers.
Speaker 4 (52:58):
Yeah, First of all, guys, thank you always for having me.
As far as this game, yeah, you know, it's just
in some ways it reminds me a little bit of
like the first three quarters of Texas versus Ohio State
last night, where it was like you didn't really hear
anybody really making the big argument for Texas and then
yeah you saw that seck just like I did.
Speaker 2 (53:20):
Goodness, great, Wow, they almost decapitated Herbert.
Speaker 3 (53:23):
I felt it.
Speaker 4 (53:25):
Yeah, I was gonna say, they're gonna need a shovel
not to throw dirt on the Charger season, but to
dig him out of the turf after that one. But
uh but yeah, no, some ready you know, I didn't
really hear a ton of people making the big argument
on behalf of the Texans. But you know, with the
Chargers all year, I just felt like, whether Harbaugh didn't
have whether they didn't have the weapons, whether Harbor didn't
have confidence in the passing game, the vertical passing game,
(53:48):
the deep passing game, whatever, I never felt like, you know,
this offense was really unleashed the way that I thought
it would be with Justin Herbert. And I don't want
to do play by play because I'm gonna get in trouble,
but you might have an update to give or Steve
mart harm As always.
Speaker 2 (54:01):
Yeah, we do right now because the Chargers are going
in for a touchdown on a long play by mccakaye.
And just like that, after back to back sacks, back
to backs touchdown, mcconkee.
Speaker 4 (54:16):
Wasn't I just talking about how good the vertical passing
game is.
Speaker 2 (54:21):
Well, this is what happens, you know, Aaron, when I
start putting a team down immediately, good things happened. And
that was an amazing pass, honestly by Herbert after literally
almost getting knocked unconscious on that last sack, and mcconkae
goes the distance for the touchdown. So they are a
point away, making a ten point game, and with ten
(54:42):
and a half minutes go, plenty of time. I've been
telling Monsie throughout the show, erin, look at if Justin
Herbert is as good as everyone says he is, you
can find a way of winning a game like this
against a team like the Texans.
Speaker 4 (54:58):
Yeah, yeah, no, I agree. I'm gonna lay out again
for you, Steve Harvan.
Speaker 2 (55:02):
I again, the extra.
Speaker 3 (55:03):
Point was blocked, of course it was, and they're returning it?
Speaker 2 (55:08):
Are they returning it? Is this a legit return for
two points? I guess it is? That is unreal. This
is so just when I was saying something pausitive about
the Chargers, something negative happens. You see, I can control
this game one way or the other.
Speaker 4 (55:25):
I wish I was one of those paid guests that
Fox Sports Radio has, because this is the easiest guess
kit of all time. All right, all right, right, we're talking.
Then crazy stuff happens and I lay.
Speaker 2 (55:34):
Out just literally since you've been there. So the extra
point was blocked, but the Texans picked it up and
ran it back for two points. So instead of twenty
three to thirteen, it's now twenty five to twelve. Texans lead.
All right, let's get back to the college football playoff.
So we end up with a five seed versus an
eight seed. If we had had a four school playoff,
(55:56):
Aaron Notre Dame probably would have been in that four
school playoff as a one loss independent. Ohio State wouldn't
have had a sniff of a four school playoff after
losing in Michigan. So the fact that an eight seed
now is an overwhelming favorite to win the national championship?
(56:17):
Is that a positive for this first year of the
expanded playoff?
Speaker 4 (56:21):
If Ohio no doubts, Yeah, no doubt. So I agree
with you, Stephen. You know, sometimes in life you got
to take the l and I was somebody that in
general wasn't necessarily a proponent of expanding the playoff. I
still think, you know, twelve, I think we saw there's
not really twelve great teams. But what I would say
about it is that to me, the point that you
(56:42):
made is exactly right is that one you know, if
you are a really good team, you can you can
have a bad afternoon in some cases too, and you
can still get in and as long as you're playing
well at the right time, you can make a run
like Ohio State is now. I will say say two
quick things. One, if you loved college football, this was
(57:03):
always the conversation, Like before we knew Nick Saban was
going to retire at this time last year, that was
always the conversation. Is like, you know, like a couple
of years they had bryce young where they didn't win
a national championship, but they were clearly good enough to
do it. But I think it was twenty twenty two.
I guess it would have been they got tripped up,
had a loss or too, and he said, well, there's
still probably the best team in the country. So we
(57:25):
kind of knew this could happen. But I'll also say
I do think it is a net positive and I
do think that I have enjoyed it. I think even
maybe a little bit more than I expected, especially the
last couple of rounds. So I would say so far,
this is a big win for college football. We've talked
about it last few weeks. I still think there's some
tweaks to make. I still do think it has impacted
(57:47):
the regular season a little bit in a negative manner,
but I also can't deny that it's been really fun
to watch it. I think a net positive for college football.
Speaker 5 (57:55):
Aarin, what was the thought process you think last night
for Texas on a fourth and goal, third and goal, second,
that entire sequence the second.
Speaker 4 (58:09):
Well, first of all, thanks to yours truly who put
out a tweet earlier in the game about how great
Steve Sarkisian was calling the game. I mean that one
did not come back to bite me at all in
the butt later in the game.
Speaker 8 (58:22):
It was bad.
Speaker 4 (58:23):
Listen. You know it's not often you see like everyone
agree on one thing on social media, and usually they're
you know, not one hundred percent like everyone. I think
watching was like what was that play call? And I
think what was especially frustrating, and I think is going
to be especially frustrating depending on what we see next season,
is that they had kind of used arch Manning in
(58:46):
short yarded situations. But now I don't think they're gonna
he's gonna be a short yardage back next year because
he's actually gonna have to you know, pass and throw
and stay healthy. But you know, he was the guy
that they could kind of count on to pick up
a big yard or too. He's a much bigger, more
athletic quarterback than Quinny, and I think myself, like a
lot of people, kind of wonder why they didn't go
to arch Manning at any point during the playoff. But
(59:07):
I also bring it up to say, if there was
ever a point to do it, it's first and goal
on the one or two, because remember, and I know
you guys know, but multiple pass interference calls on that
drive basically set them up first and goal on the one,
first and goal on the two. Whatever. It was, so
not only terrible play calling, but it's terrible play calling,
especially because you had really established over the last four
(59:28):
or five games that arch Manning could pick up that
tough yard with his legs when you needed them. You
had four downs, Monte, I think it was second down
with the ugly toss suitep that was just an abominal
play call that led to the stripsack on third down.
Ske Tarkies, I think it goes without saying would like
to be doing that one over again.
Speaker 2 (59:47):
I just have a hard time believing that Chip Kelly
gets a reprieve here. Chiff Kelly was such a disaster
at UCLA. I can't overstate it. He never wanted to
be at UCLA. And by the way, I've tried to
explain this to people. So he had those four great
years at Oregon, went to the NFL, came back, he
had six years at UCLA. What was significant about that
(01:00:09):
is is that that means that he coached ten years
in college and he has a career winning percentage thanks
to his Oregon years of over six hundred, meaning he's
eligible for the College Football Hall of Fame. He cares
not eligible for the Hall of Fame because he only
coached nine years. You have to have ten years and
a career winning percentage of six hundred. He was never
(01:00:30):
a bruin. He was never entrenched at UCLA. Ryan Day,
who he tutored as a quarterback at New Hampshire, brings
him in at Ohio State. And after the Michigan game,
I thought, man, everyone's gonna walk the plank. And now
they're one game away from a national championship. It's amazing
how fortunes have changed.
Speaker 4 (01:00:47):
Can I jump in on that really quick, because I
will say, you know, there was a lot of on
social media last night. Wow, I bet the people that
said stuff about Ryan Day. I hope you're feeling I'm
really smart right now, and it's like, I'm sorry, dude,
But one, you lost to your rival, not only four
straight years, but you saw them win a national championship
(01:01:09):
last year. This year, you were twenty one point home underdog.
But more importantly, what I would say to anyone who
was critical of Rian Day, including myself, and it sounds
like you were in the same boats department, I actually
give Ohio State fans credit because what they were saying
was they were holding their program to the highest standard possible.
(01:01:29):
And it wasn't just that they were holding their program
to a certain standard. It was that they were saying,
we know what we are capable of, and what they
are capable of is what we have seen the last
three seasons. So listen, all of those variables and all
of those narratives can be true. Is Ryan Day. We
talked about it for two or three weeks. There was
(01:01:51):
legitimately on the hot seat. I believe he legitimately deserved
to be on the hot seat. But we also can
give him a little bit of credit for whatever, you know,
whatever changed in that two weeks between the Michigan game
and the start of the college football playoff. He did
figure it out. He is tapping into that insane talent
on his roster, and they are one game away from
(01:02:12):
a national championship where they'll be an overwhelming favorite. So like,
I think we can give him credit. But I think
to your point, Steve, is like the narratives after the
Michigan game, in my opinion, were absolutely justified. And like
this idea that anyone who had any questions about him
or his regime or his coaching staff. Because to your point, Steve,
(01:02:33):
you know, Jiff Kelly is a highly paid, highly compensated
coordinator who did not have his best day against Michigan.
I think that is ridiculous as well.
Speaker 2 (01:02:42):
Aaron, great stuff. As always, we really appreciate that overtime
pay on the way. No, but but we'll always appreciate
your overtime with us. Thank you so much.
Speaker 4 (01:02:52):
I don't want to be a paid guest. I'm just
saying it would have been the easiest guest set of
all times. I can't because crazy stuff kept happening in
the football game. Now I've come on with you guys
for free because I just enjoy talking to well, at
least one of you, Pat, I will say which one,
But you don't show up next week, you know if
you need a week off or two, I'm sure Marchik.
Speaker 2 (01:03:11):
Oh no, no, you're you're, you're, You're stuck on this one
for a while. We love you man, Thank you so much, Aaron.
Speaker 4 (01:03:17):
We appreciate it. I appreciate you, guys. Thank you, guys Talks.
Speaker 2 (01:03:21):
That's Aaron Torris joining us right there. All right, let's
find out what is trenty right now? Game day geniuses.
Our picks are coming up. But first, Chris is all
over this game that's going on right now.
Speaker 6 (01:03:31):
Well, we had something very weird happen. We did look
like the Charges were going back down the field, and
indeed a lad McConkie touchdown got them the twelve points.
Looking that we're going to tack on an extra point
and who block.
Speaker 9 (01:03:43):
Can't here it's batted down by Dicker. The Texans are
on the move with it. It's still alive, being plopped
back across the thirty twenty ten DiAngelo Luss all the
way to the house as the Texans get too.
Speaker 1 (01:03:59):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 6 (01:04:01):
Texans Radio Network on the call there. So if you're
wondering why how we possibly got to twenty five points
to twelve. That's where you are blocked. Extra points turns
into two points.
Speaker 2 (01:04:11):
Not good for the Chargers. By the way, they have
one receiver on this team, Lad McConkie's been targeted thirteen times,
eight catches. Yeah, a rest of the team, don't ask.
It's a story for the Texans being Nico Collins seven receptions,
one hundred and twenty two yards. As the Texans right
now are just mostly looking to run the ball and
running out clock right now, six minutes remaining in this game.
(01:04:32):
So if there's any time for the Chargers, it's right now.
It is right now.
Speaker 6 (01:04:37):
NFL interviews around the league the calling to the Boston Globe,
and I believe Jordan Schultz reporting as well. Patriots are
closing in to hire Mike Vrabel as their next head coach,
following a very well criticized interviewing process of the Patriots
went through that saw Robert Kraft have to answer in
regards to some of their early interview interview Canadate. In
(01:05:01):
college basketball, Duke defeats Notre Dame eighty six to seventy
eight Kansas in a really awful slugfest under one hundred
points total fifty four to forty, taking down Cincinnati in
a game I think I wish I could erase and
I'm not even sure why this is on my notepads here.
Just give me a second as I tear up this
(01:05:22):
page and just completely destroy this. Santa Anita Racetrack has
postponed racing over this weekend. The stage track is going
to be set up for fire relief, the racetrack announced
on Saturday, as the fires continue to rage in Los Angeles,
which brings us three NBA games postpones two because of
(01:05:42):
the fire. Hornets, Clippers, Spurs, Lakers both postponed. Rockets and
Atlanta Hawks have also been postponed. There's winter weather storm
going through Atlanta right now, and in the NHL Boston
in overtime four to three over the Panther Panthers that
snaps a six game skid on the ice, Monsey and Steve,
it has been a pleasure back to you.
Speaker 2 (01:06:04):
Great job, Chris, as always. I would doubt we've never
had three NBA games postponed on the same day. Yeah,
I don't think so. I don't what do you ever
hear an NBA game postpone period? But they have three
on the same day. That is absolutely you know.
Speaker 5 (01:06:19):
I didn't think Justin Herbert would throw three interceptions in
one game when you only had three in the season.
Speaker 2 (01:06:23):
But here we are, all.
Speaker 6 (01:06:24):
Right, Yes, I will say I lived through a winter
storm in Atlanta one time, and that is something where
there's a little when there's a little bit of snow.
Speaker 2 (01:06:31):
Or ice on the ground, the ice especially. There's no
bowl between the Rams and the Titans where they had
an ice storm, and it was it was treacherous. All right,
it is that time. Well, genius is a generous description
(01:06:55):
of how I've been in recent weeks. But so Patrick,
what is the cur and point standing? All right?
Speaker 7 (01:07:02):
Well, based off of last week, Monsey you got three,
Steve you got two. Moncey beat you there overall standings
right now, Moncey Bolanos is at thirty five points, Steve
Hartman is.
Speaker 2 (01:07:16):
At twenty eight. All right, so seven point deficit, plenty
of time, Okay, time? Oh l right, So we're gonna
pick all five remaining playoff games, and we're gonna do
it against the spread. So let's get it started, Patrick,
All right, We're.
Speaker 7 (01:07:27):
Gonna go the next game that's on next we have
the Pittsburgh Steelers at the Baltimore Ravens. Ravens are nine
point favorites and the over under is forty four in
a half. Let's go with our fearless leader, Miss Moncy Bolanos.
Speaker 3 (01:07:43):
Alright, so let's make sure I'm doing this right.
Speaker 5 (01:07:46):
I am taking the Ravens to win, but the Steelers.
Speaker 2 (01:07:49):
Cover the spread, so then you're taking the Steelers, So then.
Speaker 3 (01:07:53):
I'm taking the Steeler.
Speaker 2 (01:07:54):
I was like, I don't know you. You're taking the
team against the spread, So either you're taking the Steelers
plus nine or the Ravens minus nine.
Speaker 5 (01:08:02):
I'm taking the Steelers Steers plus nine, al right, so
Steelers plus nine.
Speaker 2 (01:08:07):
I feel an opportunity on this one. I see an
absolute route in this game for the Ravens. We know
we were talking division games and everything else, but the
Steelers right now still even undecided on which direction they're
going to go at quarterback for this game. I say,
the Ravens covered the nine and I'm going over forty
(01:08:28):
four and a half. Everyone thinks it's going to be
like a low scoring game. I think the Ravens offense
is going to go wild, even against that great Steeler defense.
I think the Ravens have a day. So I'm going
to take the Ravens minus nine and over forty four
and a half an any Bolds Boulders.
Speaker 5 (01:08:46):
No, because he's about to lose a points, so I
don't have to do much so much valid, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:08:54):
I will go bold. Yes, I will say that Justin
Fields attempts more passes then Russell Wilson.
Speaker 1 (01:09:04):
Is that I.
Speaker 4 (01:09:06):
All?
Speaker 2 (01:09:08):
I will allow this. Justin Feel's attempts more passes than
Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 5 (01:09:13):
Okay, okay, that's more passes.
Speaker 2 (01:09:16):
Mates again, if they're playing catch up? Maybe all right,
what's our next game?
Speaker 8 (01:09:20):
All right?
Speaker 7 (01:09:20):
Next one on the docket, we have the Denver Broncos
taking on the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo. The Bills are
nine and a half point favorites here and the over
under is forty seven and a half.
Speaker 2 (01:09:33):
With that said, Steve, take it away, Bills, Bills, Bills.
I know, I have been on the le Broncos all
season long. But the weather's gonna be cool, not crazy
cold at Orchard Park. But the Bills are gonna be
put on a show just like the Ravens did. In
my prediction here, I say Buffalo minus nine and a
half and I played another over under you here, what
(01:09:54):
are you ready for this?
Speaker 5 (01:09:56):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (01:09:56):
Yeah, going under. I think the Broncos are gonna have
a very rough day of the so I'm going to
go under forty seven and a half. I'm throwing out
all stops right now, Mancy.
Speaker 5 (01:10:04):
Yeah, is yes, I'm just writing it down myself here
just so I have it as well.
Speaker 2 (01:10:09):
Taking Buffalo to cover the nine and a half.
Speaker 5 (01:10:11):
Points, I am also taking Buffalo to cover the nine
and a half.
Speaker 3 (01:10:15):
I can't, I can't sway away from that. I think
the Bills are going to easily win.
Speaker 5 (01:10:19):
So I'm with you, and I think that b Nicks
throws at least three interceptions.
Speaker 2 (01:10:26):
Ooh, that's a bold. I like it. I'll give it
to you. It's a lot.
Speaker 3 (01:10:34):
So I'm going three Bonix throws three in.
Speaker 2 (01:10:36):
Sure, you don't want to go over. I don't want
to go I'm not all right? What is our next game?
All right? The next one? We're going to the NFC.
Speaker 7 (01:10:46):
Here we have the Green Bay Packers taking on the
Philadelphia Eagles. Eagles are in fact home, and with that
they're also five point favorites. Five flats over under is
also forty five and a half. So MONSI were to
go here for the NFC, what do you want?
Speaker 4 (01:11:01):
All right?
Speaker 5 (01:11:02):
Okay, yeah, No, I'm taking the Eagles to cover, definitely.
Speaker 3 (01:11:06):
I'm taking the Eagles to cover and I'm taking the over.
Speaker 8 (01:11:10):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (01:11:10):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (01:11:11):
Yeah, I'm taking the Eagles to cover and I'm taking
the over.
Speaker 2 (01:11:13):
Mm okay, you can have that over. I'm gonna stay
away from that. Do I believe in the Packers? Do
I believe in the Packers? Give me the Packers. Wow,
Packers plus five. They'll keep it closed. Eagles will win,
but it won't be by five or more. So Yeah,
I'm gonna take the Packers plus five in this game,
(01:11:34):
all right?
Speaker 8 (01:11:35):
Five?
Speaker 2 (01:11:35):
Any bold predictions in this one?
Speaker 3 (01:11:37):
No, not for me on this one.
Speaker 2 (01:11:39):
I'm gonna have a bold prediction. Okay, hit me. Let's
see that Saquon Barkley huh will have less than seventy
yards in this game. Wow? Good enough? Yeah that works.
Speaker 3 (01:12:00):
That's good.
Speaker 2 (01:12:00):
That that's bold. So Barkley under seventy yards in this game?
All right? We still have two more games to get
to we'll do it. On the other side. This is
Fox Football Saturday. Steve Harvin, Monzi Blagos here Fox Football Saturday,
(01:12:21):
coming Alive from the tire Rag dot Com Studios, Texans
not only scored again take a thirty two to twelve
Lee the game went over. The over runner on this
game was forty two. I mean a bold prediction. I
told you at the top of the show that the
Texans would not score more than fourteen points today. No chance,
no way against that Charger defense, no way.
Speaker 3 (01:12:40):
All your faults, Steve Hardin.
Speaker 2 (01:12:42):
And then Monsy said during the break, she goes, we
haven't seen a Texans performance like this, and what seven weeks?
Speaker 5 (01:12:47):
Seven weeks like I just you know, that's that's what
you get for.
Speaker 3 (01:12:51):
Really, I really thought the Chargers were going to win.
Speaker 2 (01:12:55):
And the other thing is you have a coach Jim
Harbaugh who in three previous posts seasons has at least
gotten to the conference championship game. So disappointing day, to
say the least for the Chargers. Again, We're down to
the final three minutes, thirty two to twelve, Texas leading
coming up of course Steelers and the Ravens. All right,
let's get back continuing game day geniuses. We picked three
(01:13:17):
of the five games, We've got two to go here.
Speaker 7 (01:13:19):
Patrick, Oh yeah, we're gonna continue with the NFC side
of things, guys. And the next one we had up
was the Washington Commanders are on the road taking on
Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Speaker 2 (01:13:29):
Bucks are in.
Speaker 7 (01:13:30):
Fact home, and they are three point favorites at home.
Over under is fifty and a yeah, big number, big
number indeed, And Steve hit your first first pick at this.
Speaker 2 (01:13:42):
This one is uh, it's I know, it's it's it.
Can I see a commander's upset with a rookie quarterback,
rookie quarterback on the road. You know what was great
as a rookie quarterback on the road in the playoffs?
Mark Sanchez are buddy, he won both road playoff games
as rookie season one. Remembers that about it. In fact,
he did the same thing the next year. I can't
(01:14:04):
see that. I'll take the Bucks minus three here. That
over unders a big number. This is where I gotta
make up points. But be careful as well. No, I'm
just taking the Bucks minus three, all right, okay, MANSI,
all right.
Speaker 5 (01:14:21):
I am taking the Buccaneers minus three as well, because
I like the Bucks. I like what Baker Mayfield is doing.
I think they're gonna I think they're gonna win it.
Terry McLaurin my bold Ooh yes, Terry McLaurin. Scary Terry,
scary Terry. I say, has under sixty yards.
Speaker 2 (01:14:44):
Oh, I'll take that. I will take that. That counts. Yeah,
under sixty year, under sixty all right, that's a good one. Alright, alright,
we have one more.
Speaker 7 (01:14:52):
We do have one more. Last, but certainly not least.
We have my Minnesota Vikings on the road, kinda taken
on the Los Angeles Rams who are home kind of
in Arizona. Vikings are actually two and a half point
favorites over under is forty seven point five.
Speaker 2 (01:15:13):
Monthsey, I'm just riding. I'm sorry, but I'm here writing
it down. We both had the same pick. So do
you have any go to Steve first? No, no, no, no,
no first, I got it.
Speaker 3 (01:15:25):
He wants me to go first. He wants me to
go Okay, okay, this one.
Speaker 2 (01:15:30):
Okay. So it's like I see both.
Speaker 5 (01:15:32):
Scenarios right of, like a low scoring defensive game, but
at the same time, I can see a high offensive game.
So it's hard to really figure out what's gonna happen,
especially since they're playing in Phoenix.
Speaker 7 (01:15:47):
Like I.
Speaker 2 (01:15:51):
Pick with your Hodge, I am.
Speaker 5 (01:15:53):
Going to I will take the Vikings to cover.
Speaker 2 (01:15:59):
Thank you. How about that?
Speaker 1 (01:16:03):
Over it?
Speaker 2 (01:16:04):
That's where well think about forty seven and a half. Right,
So let's say the final score is before twenty one
is under, but if it's twenty eight to twenty one,
it's over.
Speaker 5 (01:16:20):
Yeah, yeah, I just I for some reason, if this,
if this was a low scoring game, it wouldn't surprise
me because of the relocation, because of.
Speaker 2 (01:16:33):
I don't know, I don't know. You go, okay, this
game could well determine my fate. Okay, this is the
game that all the picks we made already today. You know,
I need to obviously win just about everything, but this
this could be the game breaker right here, all right,
(01:16:54):
taking the Rams, Okay, you are taking the Rams, and
I'm taking the over over over forty seven and a half. Okay,
so I'm taking the Rams. I'm taking the over, and
my bold prediction in this game is Sam Darnold zero
(01:17:18):
touchdown passes, no passing touchdowns. Okay, I like that. Like that.
I like that. That's my bold prediction. Rams cover over
forty seven and a half.
Speaker 7 (01:17:32):
I'm with this because anytime Monci picks my teams, I win.
Anytime you pick my vikings, I lose.
Speaker 2 (01:17:37):
Well, forget forget to pick your vikings. The Seahawks are
the ones that killed me. Was basically leading for a
very brief moment, and then you Patrick kept telling me,
oh yeah, Seahawks, Seahawks. I was saying, it's either of you.
That was your choice. You were trying to influence me.
Speaker 5 (01:17:57):
I know I had success with the Seahawks, Yes she did,
so I'm not gonna blame Patrick on that one.
Speaker 2 (01:18:04):
All right, once again, we're from the tirerach dot com studios.
All right, Monse, I want to get your breakdown on
what we saw today from the Chargers and now that
the season is over for the Chargers. Let's let's face it.
Before the season, did any of us pick the Chargers
to make the playoffs?
Speaker 3 (01:18:19):
I did, remember, but I kept the bills out, So.
Speaker 2 (01:18:22):
I mean I certainly didn't pick the Charges eleven and six.
I will go over our predictions, I believe tomorrow as
a matter of fact, and how we did. I mean,
look at it. I'm a big fan of Jim Harbaugh,
of a lot of faith in Harball. I thought it
was going to take a couple of years for this
Chargers team to be competitive. The fact that they made
the playoffs this year, I just I just look at
(01:18:42):
it as they were way ahead of schedule. You know,
Lad McConkie breakout season today, nine catches, one hundred and
ninety seven yards. He did have a pass go through
his hands and a pick six for the Texans. But
they need more weapons.
Speaker 5 (01:18:55):
They do.
Speaker 2 (01:18:55):
I mean they desperate. I mean you were able to
get you know, JK. Dobbins, who coming off three years
in which he had played nine games, suffered every imaginable
leg injury, should get some votes for comeback Player of
the Year. But it's just not enough. I mean, you
got to have better, more offensive weapons. And he'll be
(01:19:15):
very interesting to see this offseason just how active the
Charges are. Try to give Justin Herbert a few more players.
I mean, I mean, just give you a sense today.
So if you look at Justin Herbert fourteen to thirty
two four interceptions, he targeted McConkie fourteen times on this game. Yeah,
(01:19:36):
no other receiver was even more than five.
Speaker 3 (01:19:38):
You just need more, Yeah, you just need more.
Speaker 5 (01:19:41):
Very proud of the Chargers and what Jim Harbaugh was
able to do in a one year turnaround.
Speaker 2 (01:19:45):
Of course. Unfortunately, it's not even.
Speaker 3 (01:19:47):
Just that we lost, it's the way we lost.
Speaker 5 (01:19:50):
It does leave a bad taste in the mouth for
the end of the season, but you know, there's a
lot to look forward to. I did think the Chargers
would win this game. I didn't think they would get
past next round, if I'm being completely honest, because we
don't have offensive weapons and you were gonna go face
teams that do have that. So overall, I am proud
of what the Chargers did. Unfortunately, this is just a
(01:20:12):
terrible way to go out. It wasn't as competitive on
the Chargers side as I would have liked.
Speaker 2 (01:20:17):
Go Houston.
Speaker 5 (01:20:18):
They got that momentum after they reversed that interception by
Derwin Jeah.
Speaker 2 (01:20:22):
That was That was the moment. That was the moment
where it turned on it. Keep it around here. Much
more coming up. This is Fox Sports Radio.
