Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
We're five seconds into the show. We've already lied to you.
The lie is that you think you're gonna get a
lot of football. There There will be some, but we
are talking about the news that is still rocking everyone. Carrie,
I woke up he's the bathroom in the middle of
the night, and in my grogginess at about three point
(00:24):
forty in the morning, said, did that really just happen?
Did that actually was that a dream of mine? Or
did that really happen? That Luka Doncic was traded by
the MAVs to the Lakers. You heard Manci say it.
It's official. The Lakers have put up graphics. The Mavericks
are holding press conferences. What a deal. As we are
broadcasting life from the tirec dot Com studios, tirec dot
(00:46):
Com will help you get there at unmet selection, fast
free shipping, free road as a protection in over ten
thousand recommended and solos tirerec dot Com the way tire
buying should be. And I would want to do this
show with no one but you today, Carrie Rhodes, because
because man of all the Mavericks fans that I know
and it's one. You are it nine o'clock last night,
(01:11):
approximately local time for us on the West Coast. Yeah,
you're sitting around you and I have kind of text
back and forth about the show today and then you
see the news come across your phone. Is that actually
how you got it? Or did someone text you? How
did you get the news? And this was your reaction?
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Then it was still the first for us, but it
was the wrong month. I thought it was April. I
thought it skipped a few months. And I was like, okay,
this is this is a joke. I'm laying in bed.
I look at you know, at X, Twitter or whatever
it's called, and you know, you see, you see all
these hypothetical things all the time where it's, oh, a
trade's going to happen, and this guy who looked good
(01:50):
in this jersey, and I saw the I saw the
language underneath, and I was like, all right, that's that's false.
So I closed it. I was going to go to sleep.
Like three minutes later, my my intuition, my higher self,
was like, no.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Wake up, open your eyes, go back to X.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
I went back to X and I saw every feed
underneath my my page said that that thing happened for real,
and I literally lost it. I got about a bed.
I didn't even stretch, which I usually do. I got
a bed, start running around Dan, and I actually stuck
my tool a little bit of it was a lot
(02:29):
of stuff going on in that place.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
In that room.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
My neighbors that stay next next to me probably called
the police. They didn't come to the door. But Dan,
it was that like, it was utter shock and chaos
in my place. I mean, the most shocking trade end
season I've ever experienced.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
Man.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
The shocking nature of it has had ripple effects through today,
where league insiders, people tied to the league front office
people are still being quote in pieces as saying, I'm
still shocked that this happened. You heard you heard Manti
give the score of the Mavericks cap game.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
Don't do that, Dann. Relax. Let me take this thing
like step by step.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
All right, Okay, all right, so everybody's everybody's everybody's still
shocked by it.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
Yeah, eighteen some hours later, listen, Dan, I mean, when
you this is this is the thing, right, So when
you have when you have people talk about like collusion
and conspiracy theories, and you know, when something like this happens.
It only perpetuates those feelings to the max, right, I mean,
all the stories and all the leakage that's coming out
now that they didn't even talk to anybody else, They
(03:40):
only talk to the Lakers. Like, what is that you're
trading the generational player. You expect that you're gonna let
people know you're gonna leak things here and there so
you can get the highest bidder. That didn't even happen.
So of course people are running crazy and going crazy.
I mean, Nico Harrison has done an ex still a
job with that team and brought so many players in
(04:03):
and really reshaped that roster, and then you get rid
of a guy that is a five time first team
All Pro and he's twenty seven, and you get nothing back.
I mean, you get a d and they're going they're
gonna be good this year. Don't get it. Don't get
it twisted. But you don't trade a guy like that
and don't get the return on it.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
It just doesn't make any sense.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
I don't think that there is a return on it.
That's that's how absurd I think this trade is. And
we're gonna hear from Nico Harrison, who did speak prior
to that game against the Cavs that Carrie didn't want
me to mention. I know why you probably didn't want
me to mention it because of the ripple effect. And
we'll get the we'll get to all of that. But
(04:44):
Nico Harrison talked about why he did this trade, and
there are there are untradeable guys in the in the NBA,
you would think that there actually are in the NFL,
and by and large, yes that it's true. But I
saw a lot last night, Carrie of people trying to
(05:06):
compare this to give me an NFL comp of what
this trade is, and I don't think that you can
because my take, and I put this out on social
media as long as some stupid one liners that I
put out there, But my whole take from Nico Harrison
doing this is he didn't understand the responsibility of having
(05:31):
Luca on your team. And that is as I look
at the Dallas Mavericks now and we're gonna hear from him,
but he did not understand the responsibility. And people just
think that winning championships is the responsibility, and I don't
think that that's necessarily the case.
Speaker 4 (05:50):
And in the NFL, if you were to do a
deal like this, if you.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
Were to trade Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. The actual
thoughts of those moves may be shocking at first, but
to me, there's ways in the NFL where you can
recoup things. It may not take forever. We're talking about
a once in a generational opportunity to have a player
(06:16):
like this. And I know as a Bucks fan where
when you have Gianis on your team, there was there
was even talk last offseason of what do the Bucks do?
Do you do you extend honest? Do you look to
do you look to deal him? And I am fully
aware that once Yannis leaves Milwaukee, the Bucks become irrelevant
(06:37):
for most of the NBA. Now you see them. They
didn't play on Christmas Day this year, which crazy with
them him and Damian Lillard. But by the way, you're
not going to see the MAVs on Christmas Day next year.
You're not going to there. They are irrelevant now in
terms of the grand scheme of the NBA. They may
be good, carry they may win basketball games, they may
(06:57):
actually win an NBA title, And I still think it
would be a bad move because of Nico Harrison's inability
to realize the value of having Luka Doncic on your team.
Speaker 3 (07:08):
And that's one hundred percent correct. And you look at
it from the other side, right where the Lakers they
do understand that, and so you know, even if they
don't go get a big man that can help them
this year and they win this year, it does not
matter to them. They're looking at the power the gravitas
(07:28):
that a Luka Dancic has, not just here in America,
not just on American soil. We're talking about on foreign
soil as well. And the Slovenian fans, the European fans
that are going to come and be a part of
the Laco brand now moving forward, I mean, the guy
is going to be He's already a superstar, but here
in La he is going to be one of the
(07:50):
one of the most recognizable people on this planet.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
So the Lakers understand that.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
And for Dallas, you know, like the what you just said,
the pressure to win championships and do all that stuff,
Dallas is actively trying to do that.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
Right.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
They don't have enough cache in the NBA to to
keep a player that's just a popular player that's going
to bring fans or attention to their team like they
still have to win. The Lakers have won more than
anybody except for the Lakers, right so they have that already.
They understand the business of Luka Doncic and right now
there wouldn't be any other superstar they can bring in
(08:25):
that would bring that gravitas to towards the Lakers outside
of foreign soil.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
So it's it's just it's crazy.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
Hit Carry up at Carrie twenty five Roads. You can
find me at Dan Bayer on Fox. Monty Belanos is
at the news desk Ian Roddy's our executive producer and
Iowa Sam is our technical producer for the next forty
eight to fifty minutes or so. That are good, pal,
Mary mac takes over, but we want to hear from
you as well. You could find at Carry twenty five Roads,
(08:55):
find me at Dan Byer on Fox. Find me on
Blue Sky as well, because I want I want to judge.
I know where everybody sides. There's not one person that
says I like this deal from you know, from the
Mavericks point of view. But what I found interesting last
night are some of the different tentacles you could say
of these of this deal and carry what I found
(09:18):
hilarious where NBA insiders who were kept absolutely in the
dark on this having their only fallback b Well, the
Lakers have wanted a generational talent to carry the baton,
and that's why they do this deal like no dub.
Everybody knows that. Everybody knows who follows basketball and watches
(09:40):
the Lakers knows their mo It's actually why over the
last you know, previous five years.
Speaker 4 (09:46):
And I mentioned Giannis earlier. You mean to tell me
when the.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
Lakers brought in Gianici's brother, when they hired Jason Kidd
as an assistant, when they hired Darvin Ham as their
head coach, You don't think that they were trying to
get the player at that time that was thought to
be the the the generational player to carry the NBA
over the next decade. You didn't think that they were
(10:09):
trying to get Giannis and Tetakompbo. That's all the Lakers do.
That's all that go back in history. Look on Twitter,
look at your timeline. So all the insiders who were
completely left in the dark on this not their fault
that they're left in the dark, but they had no
other insight than to say, well, the Lakers have wanted
this generational talent, No, dull, Yeah, that is. It's that
(10:31):
is That is the most obvious thing in all of this.
And so if you're gonna bring that to the table,
I don't care about hearing that, but if there are
other things, we'd love to hear your feedback.
Speaker 3 (10:40):
Dan, They have no feedback. They don't know anything. And
that's the crazy part about this, And it never happens.
There's always leaks. There's always uh, you know, guys that have,
like I said, conspiracies or have wish list or dream
scenarios happen and you know, things started to leak. People
can't hold water. So the fact that I think the
(11:03):
reason it's so shocking outside of the stuff we've already
talked about, is that it was just so closed off
to anybody. That part doesn't sit well with people because
the hall for Luca or what they could have gotten
back in that situation. I mean I saw something on
Twitter where they asked an anonymous GM what they would
(11:25):
have offered for Luka Doncis and he said everything, I.
Speaker 4 (11:30):
Mean like all of it, Yeah, like all of it,
and what would you give up?
Speaker 1 (11:35):
Yes, yes, yes, yeah yeah, that thing. So it's like, Okay,
what's really gone on?
Speaker 3 (11:41):
And I really feel obviously if there isn't any collusion,
any conspiracy stuff going on, where you know, the NBA
tried to get the Lake, tried to get the Superstar
to help the ratings, if none of that stuff is true,
then that means that there had to be some fallout
and it doesn't seem to be that way because we
haven't heard that either, So it says really a handscratcher.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
This is This is on the heels of Adam Silver
going on the Dan Patrick Show in saying I want
ten minute quarters.
Speaker 4 (12:11):
Yeah, how do you improve the NBA?
Speaker 2 (12:13):
He could have said, we need Luka Doncic in a
Lakers the jet right right now. We just got a
tweet James tweets in lifelong Lakers fan, but haven't watched
since Lebron started playing for him.
Speaker 4 (12:27):
He's going to start to watch the Lakers again.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
Well, he missed a Bubble championship unfortunately for James, but
I guess he's gonna tune in when the action gets hot.
This is this did completely turn the NBA season around. Wow,
But Carrie, when you talk about people not knowing and
then trying to break down the trade. None of it
makes sense. Let's hear a little bit from Nico Harrison,
who did speak prior to the Mavericks game against the
(12:50):
Calves today about just how long this process ended up
taking for the Lakers and Mavericks to strike this deal.
Speaker 5 (13:00):
You think this will work in the short term, in
the long term? Short, short term makes great sense. How
do you see this working out well for the organization.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
In the long term?
Speaker 6 (13:07):
Well, I think the long term is the time frame.
I think he fits our time frame. If you pair
him with with Kyrie and the rest of the guys,
he fits right along with our time frame to win
now and win in the future. And the future to
me is three four years from now, in the future,
ten years from now, I don't know. I don't think
they probably burying me and Jay bud or we bear
(13:28):
ourselves yet.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
Okay, that's what that's there's another We have another one, Sam,
Do we have the other the other?
Speaker 3 (13:35):
Nico Harrison, Wait, wait before you go there, Dan, It's like, Okay,
the nerve is laughed. It's almost like somebody was standing
over Nico with a pair of scissors and he was like,
you have to comply.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
Yeahet, adding the will bury ourselves.
Speaker 1 (13:49):
Exactly exactly, this was Nico.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
I think this is Nico on the timeline.
Speaker 6 (13:55):
Trades don't happen at the smallest level without stuff getting out,
and Rob and I were able to have, you know,
really intense conversations over the course of you know, three
or four weeks. They started out as a coffee that
you know, it was more, Hey, would you ever I
don't know, would I let me think of it, you know,
and then it built upon that.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
Yeah, that's awful.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
That's ridiculous. So a devastated fan base has to hear
that on top of it. It's just ridiculous. I mean,
you've already seen the the ramifications of of what the
fan base is already kind of running running towards the
Instagram for the Dallas Mavericks.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
They had it.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
They started last night with five point three million followers.
They lost seven hundred thousand followers overnight. Wow, that's insane.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
This is we laughed about Jason Kidd chiming MFV or
both of us will be buried and dead and gone
ten years from from their Mavericks organization lives because of
this trade. Your point of Jason Kidd not knowing what's
going on is truly factual. Here was Nico Harrison talking
about that we kept.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
It between us.
Speaker 6 (15:12):
We had to, We had to keep it tight. Jay
Kidd didn't know about it, but JK and I are aligned,
and we talk about archetypes and we.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
Talked about question that we want to create.
Speaker 6 (15:21):
So I know the type of players that that he
likes without actually talking to them, Hey would you like
you know? So I know that and JK coached them
when they won a championship, So so I think when
you're aligned with your coach like that, I know the
type of players that he likes, and so I felt
good about it. It making sense to where we're.
Speaker 2 (15:42):
Trying to go. This is this is the equivalent of
giving your wife a vacuum for Christmas, because well, I
know her, she spends a lot of time in the
living room. Like this is you couldn't get You could
get a worse gift for someone, right like there's there
is there's no worst gift, even if it's a Dyson,
even if it's a.
Speaker 4 (16:03):
Yes, Like there's there's a worst Listen.
Speaker 2 (16:05):
We have someone on staff that is on this show
right now that shall remain name. This to protect their anonymity.
They may know someone that they have told someone this
person is not right for you, this person is not
for you, maybe you should look elsewhere.
Speaker 4 (16:21):
And they've told this person that that.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
But this person has decided to get married in a
couple of weeks and they've told this person I'm not
gonna say who, I'm not going to name any names.
But at least this person has talked it over with
other people and they can make their own bad decision
on their own. People could say, hey, I tried to help,
but ultimately it's your decision. When you don't do that
(16:45):
at all, when you keep it by yourself, Rob Polinka,
I don't know how he slept for the past three weeks. Yes,
knowing that he had the possibility of doing this deal
like this is this is just so absurd. I just
and the more they talk about it, the world it gets.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
Yeah, the contradictory statements and words. This is me and
Jake Kidd, we're so aligned, we know exactly what we're doing.
But you don't tell the guy you're gonna trade his
generational player. That's just I mean, you can look at
j Kidd and tell that he didn't know but the
fact that he tried to sell everybody on top of that,
you know, we made a horrible move. But you know,
(17:21):
me and the head coach, we're so aligned, we know
exactly what each other wants without speaking about it. But
I'm sure Jason Kidd would love to have Luka doncon.
It just doesn't make any sense.
Speaker 2 (17:31):
I just I can't get to and I've heard the
breakdowns and there's just no there's no reason to try
to make this make sense. And I think that's where
Jason Kidd is probably sitting there saying, all right, offensively,
we have two of the best game offensive guys that
(17:52):
you could have in the game, and Luca and Kyrie,
and yeah, we have to figure out some things on defense.
But when you have to guys like that, they can
make up for a lot, so much so that they
were able to make it to the NBA Finals last year.
Now Jason Kidd is not only do I have to
(18:13):
make this work, like I've got to do it, and
it doesn't matter if it works, because people are still
going to hate me like that, and he had no
part of it.
Speaker 4 (18:23):
It is just a daunting, daunting task.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
They could go on a twelve game win streak, and
it is still one of the worst deals, if not
the worst deal that we've seen in sports history.
Speaker 3 (18:36):
Dan, I thought we had already saw a big LA
trade already with Kelsey Plum. This is this, This made
this made me vomit in my mouth. So I'm sorry.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
Guys. That's all right. Noted Mavspan carry Roads. We're still
talking about it. Hit them up back, carry twenty five
ro oads. You can find me at Dan Byer on Fox.
It is a Fox Sports Sunday. Adam Kaplan our NFL
n Center will be with us next hour. But it's
a lot of Luca and Nico and ad and everything
that comes with it, and why Nico Harrison's decision makes
(19:08):
even less sense than it would be at the surface.
He's carry Roads. I'm Dan Byer. We'll talk about that
next year on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 7 (19:17):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
Fox Sports Sunday. He's carry Roads. I'm Dan Byer. It's
still the talk of the town. Luca Doncic now a Laker,
Anthony Davis now a Maverick.
Speaker 8 (19:40):
Hit.
Speaker 2 (19:40):
Carry up at Carrie twenty five Roads. You can find
me at dan Byer on Fox. Also on Blue Sky
at dan Byer. Monty Belanos is at the news desk,
and while she is here to give us, according to
Mancy in about fifteen twenty minutes or so, plus an
update in about ten minutes, you're a hoophead Mons, you're
(20:00):
also a Clippers fan.
Speaker 9 (20:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
How does it feel to know that your noted crosstown rivals?
Now I have Luka doncic O.
Speaker 10 (20:07):
It's quite annoying if I'm gonna just keep it simple.
Speaker 11 (20:09):
Yeah, not only not only am I a Clipper fan,
but Carrie and I have talked about how I like
the maps.
Speaker 10 (20:15):
I'm a big drich Noovitzki fan, and so I like Luca.
Speaker 11 (20:19):
Even though he flops left and right, I still love Luca,
and so watching.
Speaker 10 (20:23):
This, I just I'm like, I can't I can't believe
I'm gonna.
Speaker 11 (20:26):
Watch the two top floppers on the same team, Like
what I don't I don't like.
Speaker 10 (20:30):
Any of this.
Speaker 11 (20:31):
I text Carrie last night as this was happening, and
I at least I said to Carrie, you know this
is bringing out the best in Twitter, though, like people's
tweets and comments are I am dying. Jason Smith, who
works here at Fox Sports Radio, he tweeted out, I'm
calling everybody like I just had a child, Like it's
(20:52):
just so funny what has come out of this trade.
Speaker 10 (20:57):
But I hate it. I hate that I'm gonna see
Luca Lakers Jersey.
Speaker 11 (21:01):
I cannot like, I'm gonna throw up, kind of like
you said, like I'm.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
Gonna throw up.
Speaker 10 (21:05):
I can't. I can't. You guys were talking about like, oh,
what would you give up for Luca? Whatever you want?
Do you want my home? Do you want my car?
Speaker 7 (21:12):
You know.
Speaker 11 (21:12):
In twenty twenty, Mark Cuban was asked about that and
he said, if I had to choose between my wife
and keeping Luca, catch me.
Speaker 10 (21:19):
At my lawyer's office preparing for a divorce.
Speaker 1 (21:21):
That's what he's saying.
Speaker 10 (21:22):
That's what he said, and that's how all of us feel.
Of course, none of this makes sense, guys. There is
something we don't know.
Speaker 1 (21:31):
Something's going on.
Speaker 11 (21:32):
Something's going on, and I don't know if we're ever
gonna really find out, which is what's sad.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
Well, I think I think Nico Harrison is sitting there
thinking that he is making the right move for this organization. Yeah,
I know it's crazy as it sounds. I think he is.
And it's because he's so close to Anthony Davis and
he's close to the pieces that he's brought in previously
(21:57):
on deals, and it's it's blind him to the point
of not realizing Luca's value. And that's that's like why
I started the show of it is because there is
a responsibility when you have a star player like that.
We just got a tweet sent to us and I
saw this earlier on social media how there's basically a
funeral going on outside of the mass name Dallas. Somebody
(22:19):
brought it MAVs.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
Casket, Yes they did.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
Somebody was trying to use the high pressure holes to
erase Nico Harrison's name off the concrete outside of the arena.
So yeah, it's a real thing out there right now.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
And that's why winning a championship doesn't solve this. I
don't care like how it's breaking down and what Anthony
Davis could mean to the Mavericks going forward, because it
doesn't matter. It's they just gave up Luka Doncic, a
player that is I think universally liked. Maybe not by everyone,
(22:54):
but I think every people everywhere like Luka Doncic and
honestly is going to a team that people probably disliked
the most if you were to really look at it,
knowing that the Lakers have such a huge fan base,
but that also brings so much volatility against them. That
was the part that I couldn't get passed last night,
was all Right, would I have felt better if you
went to a different team? Would I have felt better
(23:16):
if you went to the Celtics. Would I have felt
better if you went to the to the Heats or
to the Lakers. I would have hated him with the Heat.
Speaker 4 (23:22):
That would have been the worst.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
Just been too much. But I think a lot of
people feel the way that you do, Manci, and just
that now he's a Laker, like if he was a
if you went to the Thunder and I know they're
not going to do the deal, but you can live
with it, you can get along with it. But going
to the Lakers is what really really I think sticks
with people.
Speaker 3 (23:41):
Yeah, Dan, you just said something, and you know I'm
a big man, I'm a big you know that. Yeah,
if he would have gone to the Heat. I would
have broken my TV. You saw those you saw those
like those videos of angry fans and they break stuff
after a game. If you went to the Heat with
all that animosity that we have towards the Heat and
them still in our championship and those six oh, I
would have broke something.
Speaker 2 (24:01):
Sure Y, yes, you know what I mean. I'm right
there with you. You know what else I also think this does. Then, Monty,
we'll get to your update. Is it's so stupid. It's
a stupid sports talk show conversation, but it happens everywhere.
What would you take ten years of competitiveness or that
one championship? And I think this question answers I'd rather have.
(24:25):
I think there are fans that are gonna say I'd
rather have Luca for ten years than to not have
him and win one title because those ten years are
going to be fun and I know that there's heartbreak.
But I think that actually gives an answer to maybe
an unanswerable question, if you will, because if the MAVs
win it this year, I just don't see the MAVs
fan base still forgiving or being able to forgive Nico
(24:49):
Harrison for doing this because of then what their future
and what the future may hold with the team. I
don't think one one championship saves all of this scenario.
Speaker 1 (25:00):
It does not.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
One championship does not for me as a competitor, as
a play a player, a person that's played as competitive sport,
like you want to win championships, right, But we're talking
about the fan base. We're not talking about the players.
We're not talking about the front office. The fans will
never forgive Nico Harrison. I think the crazy part about
all this right now, I actually feel concerned for his safety.
Speaker 1 (25:22):
I'm not even joking, Like fans are rabbit. We know that.
Speaker 3 (25:26):
And when they care about something to the degree that
they care about Luka Doncic in Dallas and in the
in the Dallas Fort Worth area, like Nico is gonna
have to have a big security up upgrade around And
I'm not and I'm not joking. It's it's it's it's
that is that serious.
Speaker 2 (25:43):
He's carry roads. I'm dan Byer. You heard Manci Blagos.
Let's go over to Manci to have her give us
the latest of what's happening on this Sunday, maybe even
outside of what's going on the Lakers Mavericks trade. What's
going on, Mancy?
Speaker 11 (25:56):
Before I gave you an update. What you just said
is so interesting because a couple of wee ago, Steve
Hartman asked me what would as a Clippers fan, would
you want ten years of success or a championship?
Speaker 10 (26:07):
And I sat there.
Speaker 11 (26:08):
I was like, Oh, that's hard because listen, Lob City
was so fun. Lob City years were some of the
best years as a Clippers fan.
Speaker 10 (26:16):
And I sat there.
Speaker 11 (26:16):
I was like, that's a really tough decision, but I
will take a championship, is what I told him.
Speaker 10 (26:20):
But this situation is different because.
Speaker 11 (26:23):
You are literally trading the franchise, like the face of
the It's very different.
Speaker 10 (26:28):
And I never even thought of that.
Speaker 11 (26:30):
So it's funny that you present this after I was
just asked a couple of weeks ago by Steve Hartman
that question.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
But the reason go ahead, go ahead, But the reason
Massie's saying that as a fan is the Clippers are
number one.
Speaker 10 (26:41):
We've never won exactly Dallas won and and.
Speaker 11 (26:44):
It's still that way. And also just because Lakers, Laker fans.
Speaker 10 (26:48):
Argument against every time they want to argue.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
You never won.
Speaker 10 (26:51):
So it was just be like, Okay, if we went
why are you gonna drop that?
Speaker 11 (26:54):
But yes, if I am a mav and a Mavericks
fan and we win this year, it's it's.
Speaker 10 (27:00):
Just putting a band aid on it. It's not fixing anything.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
No, you're correct. The correct answer is to win a championship.
Speaker 4 (27:07):
Yeah. In ninety nine point nine percent of the cases,
this is it really is.
Speaker 10 (27:13):
It's crazy.
Speaker 11 (27:14):
Good job Dan, way to go, way to put that
into perspective. Yes, well, the Mavericks, who now are focusing
on defense are not playing defense because the Cavaliers are
just crushing them. One thirty eight to eighty eight is
the score. They scored ninety one points in the first
half in the verse half. I mean, I don't blame Dallas.
Right now, there's four minutes to go in the game.
(27:35):
I don't know what the Clippers are doing, but the
Raptors are on top one oh seven to ninety four
with about five minutes to go.
Speaker 10 (27:40):
They are playing in Toronto.
Speaker 11 (27:41):
The Pistons defeated the Bulls already one twenty seven to one.
Nineteen in men's college hoops, topped top twenty five ranked teams.
Speaker 10 (27:49):
There's only three games today.
Speaker 11 (27:51):
Number nineteen Memphis defeated Rice eighty six to eighty three,
and number eighteen Illinois came back to take down Ohio
State eighty seven to seventy nine. Let's check in at
the Pebble Beach pro am Rory McElroy extending his lead.
Speaker 10 (28:05):
He is at the.
Speaker 11 (28:05):
Top of the leaderboard all by himself, twenty one under
part over all.
Speaker 10 (28:10):
Shane A. Lowry is now three shots. I'm back back
to you guys.
Speaker 2 (28:14):
Yeah, all Irish top three leaderboard. Rory hit driver seven
iron on the five hundred and seventy one yard par
fifth fourteenth. I know that to you, Monty, I know,
but mean.
Speaker 10 (28:29):
But just carry. Can't explain it to Carry.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
Come on, Dan, tell me what you got. What's going on?
Speaker 2 (28:34):
So a par five for you and me at five
hundred and seventy one yards would be our driver. Then
we'd probably hit a three wood or some sort of
hybrid and then still have one hundred yards in for
our third shot if we're if we've struck our shots
the way that we wanted to, and he just crushed
his driver, cut the corner and had a seven iron,
(28:57):
which is gosh. I don't know what the different distance was.
It's probably about one hundred and eighty yards uphill for Rory.
But yeah, it's just it's I don't want to say
it's not human, but very few humans can do it.
Rory McElroy. Rory McElroy did it today at Pebble Beach.
So it is Fox Sports Sunday. Manzi's going to be
with us with according to Manzy coming up again in
(29:21):
about eight minutes or so, he is Carrie Rhodes. I'm
Dan Byer. It goes back to Nico Harrison's relationship, and
I know that you're concerned for his safety and I'm
not trying to make a light of that because I
know that people will be will be mad, but hey,
it's another thing you may have to consider and why
you should talk to somebody about a trade like this
(29:41):
when you don't realize the ramifications of it. I just
can't get by the fact that he wanted to tout
the secrecy of it when it reveals even more of
the Like if you said, as a front office we
felt this was the best move, then you could say, Okay,
there are other idiots in the village, but now you're
the only one, Like you're bearing the responsibility of these
(30:06):
the stupidness, that's even a word of this deal, and
how dumb of a deal it was for the Dallas Mavericks.
Even if you win a championship, him saying the secretness
of the nature is what made it great is actually
made it about three times worse.
Speaker 3 (30:20):
Oh one thousand percent. And you talk about the governor,
the new governor, the new governing body at the Dallas Mavericks, right,
Patrick Dumont or whatever. The guy isn't a basketball guy,
and he's not a basketball enthusiast. He's a guy with money, right,
And so Nico said, even when he brought up the
you know, the idea of maybe moving Luca, even Patrick
(30:41):
Dumont was like laughed at it, like what And then
to be in that position to have the final call
and the final says on that. Obviously Nico's a guy
in control running that organization. But that should be a veto,
you know, like the guy at the top, the president,
the governor, whoever that is, if they understood the ramifications
(31:02):
of this as well, you nip a button that quickly.
So there's more blame to go around. But obviously Nico
is going to be the one that catches all the
flag Ford.
Speaker 2 (31:12):
He's Carry Roads. I'm Dan Bayer. This is Fox Sports Sunday.
Hit him up back Carry twenty five Roads. You can
find me at Dan Byer on Fox. You can find
Montsey Bolangos at Moncy Blangyos and you can find her
next right here with according to Manci, it's coming up
live from the Tirex dot Com studios right here on
Fox Sports Radio. Dor listen no Fox Sports Radio Radio,
(31:35):
Fox Sports Sunday. I'm Dan Byer. He's the all Pro
Carry Rhoads. Pro Bowl games wrapping up and then a
Super Bowl fifty nine week in New Orleans. Week from
right now will be right before kickoff between the Eagles
and Chiefs from New Orleans. Glad to have you with us.
Not talking a lot of NFL, but we will next
(31:56):
hour with our NFL insider Adam Kaplan, talk about the
the hirings, the introductions. It was Senior Bowl week and
obviously of the big game coming up. But right now
we have our own big game to play and it's
one of our favorites right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 7 (32:11):
And now it's time for absolutely According to Monsey.
Speaker 2 (32:18):
I love it all right on this Groundhog's Day mancis.
Speaker 4 (32:26):
I don't know that February second.
Speaker 1 (32:31):
Shadow.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
What's hoping our executive producer Ian Roddy would have that answer.
Speaker 9 (32:36):
No, but he says it was six more weeks of winters.
So what does that mean he saw it or he
didn't see it. He said six I think he saw it,
so it means six more weeks, which listen, out here
in California, we need that rain, so we need more winter,
needs that winter rain.
Speaker 2 (32:50):
Okay, I tell that to the to the folks in
the Midwest who like, don't have any snow, but it's
cold as heck. All right, let's get to it there
it is. We all owe him an.
Speaker 10 (33:03):
Apology, Yes, we really all do.
Speaker 11 (33:05):
Specifically me, I owe James Harden an apology.
Speaker 10 (33:10):
I think that you.
Speaker 11 (33:12):
I didn't think that he was going to come in
here and really change the way the Clippers operated.
Speaker 10 (33:17):
I didn't think you could teach an old dog new tricks.
He has proven me wrong. He has kept the Clippers
afloat without Kawhi Leonard. More importantly, he's bringing out the
best in his teammates.
Speaker 11 (33:28):
Norman Powell playing the best basketball alongside Harden.
Speaker 10 (33:33):
He should have been an All Star. That's a separate conversation.
Speaker 11 (33:36):
Then there's Aviza Zubats, who is playing his best, averaging
a double double every game. I really didn't see how
Harden was going to fit into the Clippers or how
he would be a leader in the locker room.
Speaker 10 (33:47):
We know he's had a lot of drama in the past.
Speaker 11 (33:49):
After getting rid of PG, Harden organized a team dinner
a softball game just so that the team could get
to know each other better.
Speaker 10 (33:57):
He's been available, which is the most important thing.
Speaker 11 (34:00):
Out of forty eight games this season, he has played
in forty six of them.
Speaker 10 (34:04):
You guys, he.
Speaker 11 (34:05):
Has been available. He's not just taking threes. He's not
playing hero ball. He's making his team, bet his teammates better.
He's making the Clippers better. Top ten and assists this here,
and he's back to being an All star the Beard,
James Harden, I am sorry.
Speaker 10 (34:20):
I did not believe in you. I was wrong. Welcome
to Clipper Nation.
Speaker 1 (34:24):
According to Monsey.
Speaker 2 (34:26):
Never mind, never mind, I was going to say something,
but I was just gonna say, Yes, it feels like
he likes to be the big fish.
Speaker 1 (34:33):
Yeah, yeah, in that pond.
Speaker 2 (34:36):
If the pond's a little smaller, Yeah, it's Okay, he
wants to be the big fish. Maybe when he's with
other big fish in places it doesn't work as well.
It feels like he likes to be that big fish
in that pond.
Speaker 10 (34:47):
The personality seemed to be fitting, and I just I
didn't see it.
Speaker 1 (34:50):
I didn't see it. No, I don't think anybody saw.
He's playing well.
Speaker 10 (34:52):
He's played really well.
Speaker 7 (34:53):
Yes, according to Monsey.
Speaker 1 (34:57):
According to MONSI is not meant for everyone.
Speaker 2 (35:00):
It's not.
Speaker 11 (35:00):
There are things in life and sports that should be
left for the.
Speaker 10 (35:03):
Best of the best, like having your jersey retired by
a team.
Speaker 11 (35:07):
Today, the South Carolina game Cocks retired Asia Wilson's jersey,
then the Iowa Hawkeyes retire Kalin Clark's jersey.
Speaker 2 (35:13):
Makes sense.
Speaker 11 (35:14):
They were stars of their teams led them to the
NCAA Championship. The Warriors should not be retiring Andre Iguodala's jersey.
The Warriors dynasty has several players that should be recognized,
but it doesn't have to be with the jersey name
a part of the arena. After Iguodala, have a game
that's all Eguodala stuff. Bring out a bobblehead. Why does
(35:37):
it have to be a jersey. Why do we have
to retire a number? I don't know why the Warriors
are doing this. Honestly, Sef Curry is the only one
that should have his jersey retired by the Warriors. Now
with this agodala, Oh okay, so you're gonna retire everybody.
Everybody on their mom gets one, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green.
You have to now do all of them because you're
(35:58):
doing iguodala.
Speaker 10 (35:59):
And why so soon? I don't know why it's happening.
Speaker 11 (36:03):
This is not a disc thatt a Gudala because I
know he brought a veteran experience to this dynasty. But
his best season, his All Star season, was in Philly
before he was even a Warrior.
Speaker 10 (36:12):
But why now it seems rushed.
Speaker 11 (36:15):
It seems like we maybe could have waited a little bit.
Speaker 10 (36:17):
The first one should have been Steph Curry.
Speaker 11 (36:20):
Now you gotta do them all. You gotta do a
statue with all of them. But it's everybody in their
mom Everybody in their mom now gets one. And this
really should just be for the best of the best.
Speaker 3 (36:30):
Well Mancy to give Andrea Gadala a little credit. He
was the MVP for them and and okay.
Speaker 10 (36:35):
And out of that entire run.
Speaker 11 (36:37):
Yeah, we're giving it to him because of one.
Speaker 10 (36:43):
And it's not a disc because I know he's part
of that. He also got blocked by Lebron. You know
what I'm saying, Like, it's not a disc.
Speaker 11 (36:49):
I know he was crucial to this dynasty, but it's
why it's not meant for everybody.
Speaker 2 (36:55):
I'm with you, I get it, Moncy, And I think
you answered your own question is if they were to
wait to do it, nobody would I don't say nobody
would remember, but his accomplishments to what Kerry was pointing
to and what he did do would have been forgotten
if and so they have to do it now because
in ten years from now, we're only going to remember
the top of the top of the top, and that
(37:15):
is going to be step right.
Speaker 10 (37:16):
And that's what it should do.
Speaker 12 (37:17):
Though, And remember, if the Martians have the death being
pointed at Earth, we want iguidalat shot.
Speaker 10 (37:24):
Yes, yes, for sure.
Speaker 12 (37:26):
According to Monsey, just when you think it couldn't get worse,
it does.
Speaker 13 (37:30):
Yeah, guys, just when you thought the NBA All Star
could not get worse, I'm sorry, but the NBA Pro
Bowl games are now better than the NBA All Star events.
Speaker 10 (37:42):
You know who's going to be in the slam Dunk contest. No,
you don't.
Speaker 11 (37:45):
You don't know any of them except Mac mcluk. Yes, yes,
and that's all you. That is all we're gonna know.
When I'm watching at least these Pro Bowl games, I'm
seeing the stars. Like in today's Silly Game, Joe Burrow
is out there with Jamar Chase. On Night one, I
was watching Jared got Speaker Mayfield trying to throw some passes.
Speaker 10 (38:03):
Miles Garrett was out there answering trivia questions.
Speaker 11 (38:05):
I was actually seeing stars of the sport having a silly,
fun time.
Speaker 10 (38:10):
Now we have the All Star Game and in the
NBA and who's who's Who's there? Nobody? Kaylee Clark doesn't
even want to be there.
Speaker 1 (38:18):
That's right, that's right now.
Speaker 10 (38:20):
The NBA Pro Bowl Game is officially better than the
NBA All Star Games.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
Dan, I was just gonna say, Andre Jackson of the
Milwaukee Bucks will be taking part in the slam Dunk competition.
Speaker 1 (38:34):
But you do have it.
Speaker 2 (38:36):
You do have a Pro Bowl roster for the AFC
that has Russell Wilson and Drake may on it.
Speaker 4 (38:40):
Listen so it's not like it's a who's who.
Speaker 10 (38:43):
That's my that's my that's my point, you know what
I mean.
Speaker 11 (38:46):
At least I'm watching NFL stars in this silly Pro
Bowl stuff.
Speaker 1 (38:50):
Well listen, I put it stars.
Speaker 10 (38:54):
We talked about. Jared Goff is in front of me
right now. This is the Star.
Speaker 4 (38:58):
That's cool.
Speaker 3 (38:59):
But Drake may deserve no of course, and Russell Wilson's death,
so come on, it's not stars.
Speaker 11 (39:04):
But I also listed several other you know what I'm saying,
you're not You're right, not all of them, but more
are inclined to participate in this. And at least we're
seeing that and not players who I have yet to
see on an NBA cort.
Speaker 2 (39:17):
And there appears to be sixty thousand people at this event.
The upper deck is I don't know if it's full,
but there's enough people to you don't know if it's
an empty seat or not. So you know, like there's
enough people there like where it's it's crazy. He just
this is this is the NFL.
Speaker 14 (39:34):
This is the NFL.
Speaker 3 (39:35):
I'll let you guys tell me. I'm not even watching
that right now, so you guys let me know.
Speaker 11 (39:39):
Yeah, justin Jefferson out there taking pictures with you know,
his shades and all his ice, all of his frost.
Because I just watched How To Lose a Guy in
ten Days, you know the diamonds are frost frosting there.
Speaker 2 (39:51):
It is according to Manzi another award winning episode, Hitter
up at Manzi Blaanio. So you can find carry I
carried twenty five roads, find me at and Buyer on Fox.
It is at Fox Sports Sunday. We are still reacting
to the enormous trade in the NBA and did Lebron
James really not know anything? We'll talk about it next.
Speaker 1 (40:11):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (40:14):
Luka Doncic has spoken kind of welcome in. It is
Fox Sports Radios. We are broadcasting live from the tire
dot Com studios tierrac dot com. We'll help you get
there in unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road as
a protection in over ten thousand recommended installers tirerac dot com,
the way tire buying should be. Did Lebron know? Did
(40:37):
Lebron not know? One of the questions. We will try
to answer that and so much more. I don't know
if the MAVs funeral is still going outside of American.
That's American Airlines Arena, right, and the the American Airlines
Center used to be the one in Miami.
Speaker 4 (40:54):
I thought it was because there were two Americans.
Speaker 2 (40:55):
And I know it's different now the arena, but I
just I knew that it was in the American Airlines
facility in Dallas. But a funeral a casket was brought.
That's committing to the bits. I mean, that is kudos,
kudos to the Mavericks fans for bringing that one in,
But that was that is committing to what and how
(41:18):
you feel? Full size casket painted blue with the Mavericks
logo on it.
Speaker 3 (41:22):
Oh man, Yeah, it was definitely an adult sized casket.
And uh they were definitely proven a point, probably multiple points.
Speaker 1 (41:31):
I mean one, you know.
Speaker 3 (41:32):
We just lost our our godfather, Luke of the don
But like I said earlier, like the the I guess
the fuming nature of most of the fans with the
decision to move on from Luca was probably implicating something
else that I'm not going to go into full detail on.
Speaker 1 (41:51):
Thank you for the music.
Speaker 3 (41:52):
I'm gonna let it ride out because it is nothing
to wish upon anybody. Anything that's outside of blo. But
you know, the Dallas Maverick fans are very passionate fan
base and the fact that they have to go out
this way with their hero going to another place. It's
(42:14):
gotta take a breath and let it, let it, let it,
let it breathe for a minute.
Speaker 2 (42:17):
Dan seventy seven is gone.
Speaker 1 (42:23):
He is going. How will he be remembered?
Speaker 11 (42:25):
Dan?
Speaker 1 (42:26):
And rememberance of lukadamsis well.
Speaker 2 (42:29):
This is this is what I find funny is people
trying to justify this and you can't, like, there's there
is no basketball argument that you can give me that
can justify this deal, because to me, it's more than basketball.
Carry it's more about the community. It's about your fans,
it's about being a fan. It's more than just shooting
(42:51):
percentages and is he conditioned or not. But one of
the things that I read was Luca has been unable
to play in more than seventy games in the regular
season since his rookie season, And I thought to myself,
why would we be pointing that out when all that
(43:13):
we have said and the biggest problem with the NBA
is is that we don't care about the regular season.
And I know that their point was trying to say
this guy's body has betrayed him, but it hasn't betrayed
him in the postseason, and it didn't betray him in
the most recent postseason where he stuck Daggers to the
(43:33):
Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference Finals. Now, I think
they were overmatched. I don't think Boston was a great
matchup for that team. But there's no reason to think
that this team couldn't have had some sort of revitalization.
You added Klay Thompson in the offseason and maybe done
something similar this time around. So telling me that you
(43:56):
are concerned about his regular season available ability and then
you bring in a thirty year old Anthony Davis. It's
just it doesn't It doesn't add up. That doesn't make
any sense to me. That's why I don't want to
hear anything about actual basketball because to me, it's so
much more about basketball. And even if you tried to
make it about basketball, the stats and the numbers and
(44:20):
the takes just don't add up.
Speaker 1 (44:21):
Yeah, none of it adds up.
Speaker 2 (44:23):
Dan.
Speaker 3 (44:23):
And again, like we talked about in the first hour, right,
like even if they were to go on a ridiculous
run this year and get it done and hoist their
second championship. For the Mavericks, fans are gonna boom Nico
Harrison until he leaves, like there's no retribution there, and
so you know, it's just it's a sad state of affairs, man.
(44:46):
I mean, obviously Dallas. You know when you talk about
Dallas in the Animals of History, right like it's you know,
it's a cowboys it's a cowboys town. And the fact
that it's a cowboys town and there's no bigger star
in the world or in that town other I mean,
besides Luka Donc.
Speaker 1 (45:04):
It's just crazy to think about.
Speaker 2 (45:07):
I kind of feel bad for Dirk in a way.
I don't know why, but like there's like this because
I felt like what Luca did was Luca also carried
on Dirk's legacy in a weird way. Not that I'm
actually feeling bad for Dirk Novitzky, but as I said,
the reason why I am so against this trade for
(45:28):
the Mavericks is because it makes them irrelevant. And then
I think that along with that, Carrie is that lineage
of the Dirk to Luca passing on and then now
that's over, and I just don't I don't think it continues.
I'm a fan of the Seahawks in the NFL. The
Seahawks traded Russell Wilson in his thirties in a trade
(45:51):
that I actually think that most people would argue that
they won. The Seahawks won ten games this past year,
actually tied the Rams for first place in the NFC West,
just didn't win the division because of a tiebreaker. And
the Seahawks are pretty irrelevant to the National Football League.
It is a different feel and the reason why they're
not Russell Wilson, they don't. They even had Pete Carroll
(46:14):
last year and they still were pretty irrelevant. Geno Smith's
a nice story. DK Metcalf's a freak. We get all
of that, but there is something about having the star power.
And I'm not advocating that the Seahawks should have kept
Russell Wilson. That is not what I'm saying, because the
NFL and the NBA are completely different. But I understand
about a team being relevant and on the national stage
(46:35):
and being a team that draws a lot of attention
and then having one that's just kind of an also ran,
if you will, but just another team in the NBA.
I said to you last year, I felt Boston, for
everybody who was all about Boston, that their brand wasn't
as big as it once was. I thought the Warriors
was bigger, the Lakers were bigger, And I actually think
(46:56):
that how we've looked at Boston at times validate that
because we still don't think of the Celtics team as
a championship team, as being the marquee brand in the NBA.
Speaker 4 (47:06):
I still actually think we care more about the Warriors.
Speaker 2 (47:08):
We care more about the Lakers than we do about
the Boston Celtics, and the Mavericks are losing all of
that and there's just way more weight than the actual
playing and the health of the players that Nico Harrison
obviously did not take into consideration.
Speaker 3 (47:23):
Yes, I agree with all of that, and I think
the thing with Dallas and talk about relevance, it's crazy
to think about like they have two guys that should
be that should be on the seventy five all time lists, right,
Like Anthony Davis is on that list. Nyrie Urban should
be on that list.
Speaker 2 (47:42):
Right.
Speaker 3 (47:42):
We know the off the off the court stuff is
the reason he's not. That's the only reason. So if
you think of it from that perspective, they shouldn't be irrelevant.
But what you're saying is correct. Without Luka Doncic and
without that gravitas that he has. I mean, we watch
him and even though we know he plays a sinctrick
type of basketball and he's played that way in the past,
(48:04):
we've seen him evolve, right, We've seen with Kyrie coming
in his ability to take a step back and actually
start to get better and do do other things to
help the team win. And so when you see that
evolution starting to happen, to say that we're shipping them
out because his conditioning would never be on par is
just one of the worst excuses I've ever heard. And
(48:27):
then when you hear that, for me, where my mind
goes is if that's what they're putting out, then obviously
they're being food or they're being coerced to do something.
And that's how I feel about all of it. When
I sit back for a second and have some kind
of clarity around.
Speaker 2 (48:43):
It, I know Monty's got Luca's statement. I just want
to say this because I want Manti to read what
Luca sent out that circulating on social media. But last year,
also during the playoffs, I got on Anthony Edwards and
it's conditioning because he got gassed at the end of
the games.
Speaker 4 (48:57):
That's right, Who's gassing.
Speaker 1 (48:58):
Him, Luca?
Speaker 4 (49:02):
So it can't be that bad. It's not the worst
in the NBA, right.
Speaker 2 (49:05):
I mean again, if it was enough to lead them
to the NBA Finals, then then it was enough. It's
good enough for me.
Speaker 1 (49:12):
Man I do not like the laughter.
Speaker 2 (49:13):
Okay, seriously, like this is I can't believe that Nico
Harrison doesn't didn't see this, but Manzi is here. Do
you want to read the whole statement?
Speaker 4 (49:25):
You want to read just some of it?
Speaker 2 (49:26):
Manzi? What works in it? Because I wasn't able to
read the whole thing.
Speaker 10 (49:29):
I think I am going to read it all. It's
not that long. Yeah, okay, all right, all right?
Speaker 11 (49:32):
So this is on Luca Donches, on his Twitter and
on his Instagram.
Speaker 10 (49:38):
I confirm that.
Speaker 11 (49:39):
So it says, Dear Dallas, seven years ago, I came
here as a teenager to pursue my dream of playing
basketball at the highest level. I thought I'd spent my
career here and I wanted so badly to bring you
a championship. The love and support you've all given me
is more than I could have ever dreamed of for
a young kid from Slovenia coming to the US for
the first time, you made North Texas feel like home
(50:00):
in good times and bad, from injuries to the NBA Finals,
your support never changed. Thank you not only for sharing
my joy in our best moments, but also for lifting
me up when I needed it most. To all the
organizations I've worked with throughout the Dallas community, thank you
for letting me contribute to your important work.
Speaker 10 (50:17):
And join you in bringing light to those who need it.
Speaker 11 (50:19):
As I start the next part of my basketball journey,
I am leaving a city that will always feel like
a home away from home. Dallas is a special place
and Mas fans are special fans.
Speaker 10 (50:30):
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Speaker 1 (50:32):
Luca oh Man, I know Nico Betelka's door man.
Speaker 2 (50:36):
I know I think the portion of it when he's
talking about the community as well.
Speaker 4 (50:41):
Yeah, this is this why it's not a basketball trade exactly.
Speaker 2 (50:44):
I don't know all the organizations that he works with,
but there's I'm sorry, the food pantry or the Humane
Society or whatever it is is not going to give as.
Speaker 4 (50:54):
Much juice because Luca is not there.
Speaker 2 (50:59):
That's the recon responsibility of having a super duper star
on your team. And that's why it makes me so
mad that Nico Harrison cannot recognize and did not recognize
the responsibility of what you have, the duties you have
to the organization. You think it's just winning titles and
you think it's just winning championships, And oh, how convenient
(51:20):
are the players that are that he's bringing in are
the closest that he was too in his previous job, Carrie,
as you pointed out at Nike, like, there's how convenient
is that? So are we really doing best by everything?
Or are we just making this a buddies fest? What
is going on in Dallas?
Speaker 3 (51:35):
The buddy fest is actually it is right spot on.
I mean, Kyrie Herban is there because of their relationship
with Nike and outside of that, right, so the people
they're bringing in is it does seem like a buddy fest.
And then you know Luca being there before him isn't
part of his regam and who he brought in. So
you know, I guess as a GM, as an owner,
(51:57):
as a coach, like you want to go down. You
want to go down with the guys that you know
you have relationships with. And you trust, and I guess
that's part of it, or we can take that approach.
But again me outside of that, which is a very
clear picture and very true, that's that is what it is.
It's just it just has to be more to it,
and you just don't get rid of a guy like that.
Speaker 2 (52:19):
I would like to think if Luca was not serious,
and I don't want to say I've heard conflicting information.
I think everybody's initial thought was Luca told them that
he didn't want back in, right like that was that
was the initial thought. But I haven't heard a lot
of stuff to back that up. And Nico Harrison didn't
say anything of that effect when he spoke prior to
(52:40):
their game against the Caves today, didn't say that their
indications were that Luca wasn't ready to come back to
Dallas or wasn't going to be there for the price
tag that they would have had to pay. And again,
I know it's an obscene amount of money when you're
talking about you three hundred million dollars for a guy,
(53:01):
even it's north of that, three hundred and forty million
dollars for a guy, but still I think that his
value was priceless with all of it. And I will
say this about the Lebron stuff. I believe in the fact,
actually I don't believe that Lebron didn't know, but I
don't think that Lebron needed to know. Anybody would say
(53:23):
yes as we said, So whether Lebron knew it or
not isn't isn't I think relevant in this scenario. Even
though Dave mcmanhamon made it a point that Lebron was
out to dinner had no idea that any of this
stuff was going on, setting the scene that he would
have no idea.
Speaker 4 (53:41):
But honestly, if Lebron made.
Speaker 2 (53:43):
This deal, I think would be like, pretty good deal Lebron,
Like we'd actually give him credit instead of always harping
on Lebron getting his own way.
Speaker 4 (53:51):
He had to have known something was going on.
Speaker 2 (53:54):
I don't believe that he didn't know about it, But honestly,
it would have been a deal that I would have said,
you know, good job, Lebron if he had his fingerprints
all over it.
Speaker 3 (54:02):
And you know the other crazy part about this, I
don't know if you guys, either one of you guys
saw the video where Ad was sitting at the locker
and he was having a conversation about, Yo, we need
to bring a center in if we're trying to win again,
and you know, we need to have a center and
I can go back to the four and the team
will be completing and we can go out and compete
and win a championship. And the way that the interviewal
(54:23):
interviewer was asking him the question was like he knew
something and so like we say, it was behind closed
doors and nobody really knew. There's like a conspiracy going
on about that too. Like the reporter was asking like
he knew something. So it's it's it's definitely layers to
this thing.
Speaker 1 (54:39):
Dan man.
Speaker 4 (54:42):
Manzi, did you get emotional reading it?
Speaker 10 (54:44):
I did? I got, I got chills in.
Speaker 14 (54:48):
A bad way.
Speaker 10 (54:49):
I was like, why am I getting? Why is there
a tear in my eye? What am I doing?
Speaker 1 (54:53):
Why is it so dusty?
Speaker 2 (54:54):
Why is.
Speaker 12 (54:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (54:57):
For for as critical as people may be over the
the Lakers and how things have run, they are not
dumb enough to get rid of Luka Dancic. So he
will be there till the end of his career and
will likely have a statue and they'll retire seventy seven,
and that's probably going to be the route that it's
(55:18):
going to take. And I think that's what bothered a
lot of people last night again the Lakers aspect of it.
Why does it have to be the Lakers.
Speaker 1 (55:25):
Let me let me throw this to you guys real quick.
What if what have we seen?
Speaker 3 (55:30):
What if we've seen the best of Luca and Dallas
has some inside thing and they know that he's breaking
down or whatever, Like, just think about that for one second.
What if we've seen the best of Luca, the best
of what we can get from this guy we've squeezed.
Speaker 1 (55:45):
Out already, he's a fire I will yeah, go ahead,
and like, what about that?
Speaker 2 (55:51):
Entertained this? Even though I don't think that it's of course,
I don't think it's a legit point, but I get
what you're saying. Let's look at that all options. Again,
it's the point of it's not about basketball. The hall
that they got does not set Dallas up for great success.
Speaker 4 (56:08):
So if you're the Seahawks, like I.
Speaker 2 (56:10):
Mentioned Russell Wilson earlier, and you give him to Denver
knowing that there's no more gas in this tank and
he is not the same quarterback anymore than good for
you on knowing when to cut bait and selling at
your ultimate high and getting your ultimate return. They didn't
get an ultimate return exactly. You could have, as you said,
from the get go, you could have asked other teams
(56:31):
for it. So even if he is out of gas,
doesn't matter if he's on the Lakers or if he's
on any other team and doesn't do it in that city.
It's the fact that they didn't get what we thought
that they could have gotten in just getting one first
round pick. Mavericks have given away picks because of their
other deals, so it's not like they're sitting on this
treasure drove of picks either. They could have taken another
(56:52):
number one from the Lakers in twenty thirty one if
they wanted, but ended up not doing. That's so even
if he stinks carry, it's still the that makes sense
because we don't think he stinks right now, and so
the ultimate value of him they did not get in return.
Speaker 4 (57:07):
He's carry roads. That's monts of Belanio.
Speaker 2 (57:09):
So I'm dan Byer hanging out on a Sunday, still
talking about this trade between the Lakers and Mavericks involving Luka,
Doncic and Anthony Davis. Will take a time out from
that shift, our gears to the National Football League. Super
Bowl fifty nine is a week away. Pro Bowl games
wrapped up, and so did the Senior Bowl. Plus there's
some coordinating moves in the NFL. One that just happened.
(57:31):
A big name is going to Vegas to try to
catch in his chips. We'll tell you about it next.
He's Carry. I'm Dan, this is Fox Sports Sunday. It's
Fox Sports Sunday. He's the all pro carry Roads. I'm
Dan Byer. A week away from Super Bowl fifty nine,
still talking about the blockbuster deal, and I feel Carry
when I say that, I'm actually under selling it. Between
(57:52):
the Lakers and Mavericks, it is official. Luka Doncic is
a Laker and Anthony Davis is a Maverick. Will continue
that conversation here. We'll take a bit of a time
out as our NFL insider Adam Kaplan joins this. But Adam,
I'm giving you free reign to weigh in on this
because this NBA trade seemed to rock everyone's world. You're
in Philadelphis fifth six ers right now in the taking
(58:14):
on the Celtics. Yeah, what were your thoughts on this trade?
Speaker 8 (58:17):
Stunning. I mean, there's nothing goes on remotely closer to
this in the NFL. It's because of contract structure, Yeah,
cap it's just different. You get cost certainty with NBA
trades because you know the contracts are fully guaranteed, so
you know exactly in length and you know what you're getting. Yes,
I understand the NBA sometimes, and particularly in this trade,
you have to get a third team to make it
(58:37):
work sometimes. But yeah, it was a stunner because I'm like, Okay,
Luca's a great player, devastating score, He's got great size
for the two guard position. I know you're that the
Mavericks were clearly concerned with two things, this conditioning his
lack of defense. But he's so much younger than Ad
and Nad is Obviously it's a great defensive player who's,
(58:58):
by the way, been pretty healthy last couple you're surprisingly
it's a great player. Just it's kind of weird.
Speaker 1 (59:05):
Yeah, I.
Speaker 8 (59:06):
Don't know. It seems like like the Mavericks were kind
of desperate to change the culture there a little bit.
And sure, I don't know. Now, I don't know if
you guys have done this. I've kind of look at
both rosters after the trade, we'll have to see how
much better each team will be. It's I think it's
a little early to figure that one out. I've tried
and I'm not seeing how. I'm just not saying how
(59:27):
both teams are better for this, But we'll see well.
Speaker 2 (59:29):
Also, And I've told Kerry that I don't think it
matters because I think Luca was bigger than that for
the Mavericks. And that's why I do think it differs
in the NFL where there is I brought up the Seahawks,
and I wasn't comparing Russell Wilson to Luga Dancic by
any means, because of age and because of how they are.
I said that the Seahawks kind of knew what they
(59:51):
were getting when they were getting rid of Russell Wilson.
They sold high on him. But they've also become kind
of irrelevant. They've also been a team that, even though
they won ten games this year, they're not the same
Seahawks as they were with Russell Wilson and Pete Carroll there.
And I think the break the Patriots are an example
as well, if they're not the marquee team. Once you
lose your quarterback, that's where I thought that Dallas ended
(01:00:12):
up losing everything is yeah, you get Anthony Davis, but
you do not have the cache as a franchise as
you do with Luka Doncic on your team. And I
think that was a parallel that I saw, at least
in the NFL, where if you do lose some of
these superstars, maybe your cache outside of if you're a
Cowboy or a Packer or a Steeler, you can kind
of fall into the also rans in the NFL as
(01:00:33):
a team.
Speaker 8 (01:00:35):
Yeah, remember the NBA, guys, you start only five players,
so yep, you're not going to be able to replace
that type of player. It's just not And Anthony Davis
is completely different from Luka Dancic. It's like they're completely different,
could be any more different, quite frankly, size the way
that the style of play, what they bring to the table.
You don't find these type of explosive scores. The NBA,
(01:00:56):
as you know, is three point game. I mean that's
in the last seven eight years has become that's what
it is. And it's yeah, it's it's a stunner. I
when I saw it, I'm like, you know, it's kind
of like you're you're blown away. You're like, oh, this
is crazy, it's stunning. You look, this did this because
you want to see if it's fake. You know it's
it's a fake story. It's the first thing you see
and then you go, no, it's not, it's real, and
(01:01:18):
you try to put together because you know, I saw
follow the NBA fairly closely, so yeah, I just yeah,
I love how though basically like that both teams kept
it quiet till the story broke, Like, that's that's amazing
to me. In today's NBA or professional sports, it doesn't
leak out that it's being worked on.
Speaker 1 (01:01:35):
Yeah, that was the crazy thing for me, Adam.
Speaker 3 (01:01:37):
It was where it was so secret of so quiet
that nobody knew and we were all shocked and thought
it was April fools, right, Like that's the energy that
we felt with it. But then you said something very
very interesting right at the end, in the middle of
what you're saying, you said, the NFL NBA different, right,
So to even make that work, they had to bring
in the third team. Even with that being the case,
(01:01:59):
it didn't leak. That part is the part that's so
so crazy to me.
Speaker 8 (01:02:04):
Yeah, because like let's say that the Stafford golf trade.
Speaker 2 (01:02:06):
I get it.
Speaker 8 (01:02:06):
It's nowhere close to the trade we just talked about
in the NBA. But that was one where now myself
and others knew that, you know, Stafford it asked for
a trade. The situation there was that the Lions it
got out kind of where they were with with Stafford.
I mean they were willing to do it. But it's
(01:02:28):
not like that. Is that a blockbuster? Like it's very
subjective when you see something as a blockbuster. This is
not subjective. The trade the NBA is a blockbuster, like,
it doesn't get any bigger than that professional sports. It's
I mean, I don't know if top I can't think
of anything that rivals that. I'm sure there is. I
know the NBA is insane with trades, crazy trade that
we don't get that in the NFL though, there's more
(01:02:49):
trades in recent years than we normally would see. But
that is the blockbuster of all blockbusters.
Speaker 2 (01:02:54):
What we just saw yesterday, and I'm kapling our Fox
Sports Radio NFL insider read them on the Pro Football Network.
Hear him here and on the Inside the Birds podcast.
All Right, you were at Senior Bowl this past week.
Is Jackson Dart the main headliner we got, maybe him
moving into the first round.
Speaker 8 (01:03:10):
What did you do, I'd be, look, let's put it
this way.
Speaker 2 (01:03:13):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (01:03:14):
I don't heard some buzz darting up the draft boards.
Speaker 8 (01:03:17):
Well, it's funny. It's funny. It's only three days of practice.
And it wasn't that Bonix was great. It's just that
Sean Payton was love the kid. I would argue that
he probably would not have gone in the first round Bonix,
but he did it. By the way, he had a
good rookie season. They had a great schedule. But getting
back to Jackson Dart, No, it's funny. I uh. In
my reporting on just Dart, he's a guy I thought
would go probably just based on a lot of coaches
(01:03:40):
I've talked to have gone into his tape because he
he pretty much was a third round pick about two
weeks ago. Just based on people I've spoken with, I
think he goes to the second to go in the first.
I know it's a it's really not a good quarterback
class that that's the early word here. It's I know that. Uh,
you know I do TV for Sports Grade and uh,
the host Craig misshed. Look every year people say only
(01:04:01):
two or three quarterbacks and five go four or five
will go right, and that probably will happen. Right now, again,
we're just in early February. I'd say there's very little
chance Start goes in the first round now, as more
personnal people and we go through the combine the pro
dace and private workouts, if he tears it up, then
you could see him going in the back of the
(01:04:21):
first round. I just know that coaches I've spoken with
and personnel people I've spoken with, they have an issue
with his delivery. It's kind of funky. It's a three
quarters three quarter. He's a right handed thrower. But being
there sitting ten rows back at practice and then also
being on the field, he's got enough arm strength. It's
not a gun. He's just got enough to make you
(01:04:42):
look at him again. So yeah, he's one of these
guys we'll be talking about because again after Cam Order
is the number one quarterback for the draft and Shador Sanders,
it's completely wide open.
Speaker 1 (01:04:52):
Well, it's crazy because Dart was my wildcard. I liked
him a lot.
Speaker 8 (01:04:55):
He's a wildcard.
Speaker 3 (01:04:56):
I think he can play really well and I think
he can be in the right system. He can, he
can thrive on the next level. But I want to
talk about you said he didn't throw a fast ball,
but we know who do Dylan Gabriel through the fastest
fastest pass if anybody recorded correct, is that is that true?
Speaker 1 (01:05:12):
Or is that is that war Lewis.
Speaker 8 (01:05:14):
He's I would say with Dylan Gabriel, and I've seen
a lot of quarterbacks in the sun and ball that you know,
they don't look super imposing. You know, he's a smaller guy.
He's under five to eleven.
Speaker 2 (01:05:25):
Yeah, he's also twenty two years old. Just kidding.
Speaker 8 (01:05:28):
Yeah, he looks I know, he's only he's twenty four.
He turns twenty five deceven.
Speaker 2 (01:05:33):
He turned twenty five, like all rookie quarterbacks turned twenty
five in decemn No, no, I mean he looks older,
he definitely told.
Speaker 8 (01:05:39):
But a quarterback doesn't matter as much because it's quarterback. Yeah,
I mean, remember when who is the guy the Browns
draft who was twenty eight twenty Yeah, Brandon Weed, right,
and he went in the first round. Now that shouldn't
have happened. I'll see he never really made it. But
a quarterback, it's it's not a big deal because you
could play late thirty sharly forties if you don't get hurt.
But Dylan Gabriel, well he doesn't have a great arm.
(01:06:02):
I mean, I asked a friend of mine what he thought.
He said, rounds five through seven if he gets drafted
at all.
Speaker 2 (01:06:07):
Wow. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:06:09):
Adam Kapley, he's a coach who's gonna have to turn
on quarterback grade. So he told me his early study
was not great.
Speaker 2 (01:06:14):
Fox Sports Radio, NFL Insider joining us here. He's carry Roads.
I'm Dan Byer coordinating, is just coming in. Chip Kelly's
leaving Ohio State, going to go to the Raiders with
Pete Carroll in Las Vegas. I actually think it works.
Chip likes to run the ball, Pete Carroll wants defense
and running the football. You got a Raiders' identity starting
to take shape.
Speaker 8 (01:06:34):
Well, I'm told two things. There were multiple teams interested
in Chip. Texans were one of them. I don't know
if they ever made Chip an offer or how far
it went with the Texans, but I could tell you
that he was involved there, like they had interest in him.
But ultimately he took the Raiders job. You know, he
gets to go back to the West Coast. We know
(01:06:55):
about Oregon and you know, by the way, the Jaguars
almost hired him as they're off its coordinator years ago
after he got fired by the Eagles and he was
out of he was working for ESPN. The Jaguars had
a lot of interest in him. It makes some sense. Yeah,
I mean it does because you know what's coming with Chip.
It's now. What's fascinating is because the league figured him
(01:07:16):
out in twenty thirteen. They couldn't figure him out in
twenty fourteen. They started to in twenty fifteen, they completely
figured out his offense. I'm going to be interested to
see what if he just at all because his former
players with the Eagles cannot take his offense because his
defense would always be tired. I know the Niners talking
to some of the Niners people when Chip was the
head coach, Chip was not really willing to bend it all.
I know that was eight years ago. So we'll have
(01:07:38):
to see what happens. We'll see what he's learned here
and hasn't learned over a number of years.
Speaker 2 (01:07:43):
Yeah, and I'll tell you this, just as an Ohio
State fan, they wouldn't run a lot of plays. It
was not as they may not huddle, but they weren't
running a lot of plays, So I think that that
probably appealed to Pete Carroll a little bit as well.
So you aren't keeping your defense on the field for
those long periods of time.
Speaker 3 (01:08:00):
Yeah, no, that makes sense, Adam. I want to we
talk about coordinators. I want to talk about one that
just got hired in New York as well, defensive coordinator
Steve Wilkes uh teaming up with Aaron Glen in New York.
Speaker 1 (01:08:10):
What do you think about that? Higher like it?
Speaker 8 (01:08:13):
Wilkes is now you know, he coaches at forty three,
did a great job with the Niners. They got Super
Bowl with him, but he didn't run The system that
he was running was the system that they were running
before he got there, and that was not his system.
So Kyle Shanahan parted ways with him. But he's really
a good coach. He kind of got a role deal
with the Cardinals after one year. But the bottom line
is Scott should have been the league well before this.
(01:08:35):
I know he's part of that lawsuit, but the bottom
line is he should have been back in the league
before this. I know he's had some chances, but now
he's back I'm happy for him. A really good person,
a good coach. And yeah, the staff that Aaron Glenn
has put together is really interesting. I'm interested to see
what what this thing looks like. But when he's done here,
(01:08:55):
but you know it's it's gonna look different. There's a
new energy in that building. You know. They that know
they've got a fairly young head coach. The GM is
under forty years old, Muji who comes over from Denver.
We'll say it's another staff here. We know that they've
had a lot of turnover with the Jets last twenty
five years. But as you know, Kerry, but here we
go again.
Speaker 2 (01:09:14):
How could serve should the Lions be losing those pieces?
Because I felt, Adam that the conversation was we knew
that they were gonna probably lose Ben Johnson, probably Aaron Glenn,
but it felt like the Lions had this pipeline. But
is there a different feeling now losing you know, more
than just a couple of coordinators, then you have other assistants.
Speaker 8 (01:09:33):
Yeah, no, they lost other assistant coaches. Yeah, they lost
both coordinators. Other systems, I mean the promoting for them
within but for some of them, you saw what happened
with Philly last year. They two years ago, after the
twenty two Super Bowl appearance, they lost both coordinators and
they fired both coordinators in twenty three after one season.
So that's not good. In fact, Philly they actually Sewan Desatt.
(01:09:53):
They actually reassigned him their defensive coordinator in season last year,
So that's not good. Now, look, you got to get
Kelvin Sheppard in the new who was her linebacker's coach.
You got to give him chance. Here's a young guy
by the way, Gosh, I remember it's a player not
too long ago. But he knows the system. They'll keep
the system, and Dan Campbell's got to be patient. He's
(01:10:14):
a tell you what Dan Campbell is this. This is
a guy who lets coaches develop their systems. And Ben
Johnson he's patient with Aaron Glenn. You know, Aaron Glenn
struggled mightily early in his first season. They were blitzing
way too much, and they started dialing it back a
little bit. There was a bye week Aaron Glenz, first
year's defense coordinator, and they got together and they both
mutually agreed that they can't just blitz the blitz. They
(01:10:37):
got to have definition with it. And that changed everything.
And Aaron Glensonson it has been terrific, so wish him well.
It's extremely difficult, as Kerry knows, to win with the
Jets and then you go back to the Lions. This
is a lot, Dan, this is a This is definitely
an Also, this is like one of my top ten
off season storylines, losing Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn there.
(01:10:57):
You just can't expect it to be as good.
Speaker 2 (01:10:59):
You just can't.
Speaker 8 (01:11:00):
And that's the point.
Speaker 3 (01:11:00):
Here, Adam, I don't like how you said it's hard
to win and carry knows that was that was That
was a slap to the face.
Speaker 8 (01:11:11):
No, but I'm just saying, you know, I know. No, wait,
they'll wait, hang on, were you with it? Did I
assist for Were you with the back touback championship teams
with Shatty and that group?
Speaker 1 (01:11:22):
Yeah? I didn't go the second one, but the first
the front.
Speaker 8 (01:11:25):
Tell me that last one? Okay, okay, got you?
Speaker 2 (01:11:27):
Yeah, he was like, I'm sick of winning, I'm out
of here.
Speaker 8 (01:11:30):
Yeah, on to the Cardinals.
Speaker 1 (01:11:32):
Yeah, they started out.
Speaker 4 (01:11:34):
Four and one.
Speaker 8 (01:11:35):
The rest was history.
Speaker 2 (01:11:36):
Right. I won't look that up. No, please don't, Adam,
I'll look you up in New Orleans. Well, man, I'll
be in midweek. So nice. So all right, Adam Kaplin,
I got to talk to you or talk to you soon.
We didn't even touch on the Super Bowl. Hey, so
much to get to these carrier roads. I'm Dan Byer.
We got to get to Manci Bolano, who's been waiting
patiently to give us the latest of what's going on.
(01:11:58):
What's going on Manci?
Speaker 10 (01:11:59):
You know, I was thinking, who's probably real mad about
this trade.
Speaker 11 (01:12:02):
It's gotta be, uh, pat Riley, because here he is
demanding all these things for Jimmy Butler, and now all
other things.
Speaker 10 (01:12:09):
Are gonna be like, ah, so.
Speaker 11 (01:12:11):
If Lucas worth this, Jimmy Butler is worth less than that.
So I just thought of that maybe pat Riley's most
upset about all of this.
Speaker 10 (01:12:20):
Guys, there's one game going on in the NBA right now.
Speaker 11 (01:12:22):
It's the seventy six ers, who are beating the Celtics
after the first quarter twenty nine to twenty one.
Speaker 10 (01:12:27):
The Pistons already took down the Bulls.
Speaker 11 (01:12:29):
The Cavaliers crushed the Mavericks, and the Raptors beat My
Clippers in Toronto.
Speaker 10 (01:12:33):
Final score on that one was one fifteen to one
oh eight.
Speaker 11 (01:12:35):
You did mention it talking to Adam that Chip Kelly
is leaving Ohio State, returning to the NFL to become
the Raiders offensive coordinator under new head coach Pete Carroll.
Rory McElroy has officially won the Pebble Beach Pro am
ending at twenty one under par overall Shane Lowry and
then in second place two shots back, and lastly here
out of the NBA, No, not the trade, Chris Paul
and Victor one By Yam are gonna partner up and
(01:12:57):
represent the Spurs by participating in the Skills.
Speaker 10 (01:12:59):
Challenge at all start weekend. So good for them. They
should do that. Okay, back to you guys, Well.
Speaker 4 (01:13:04):
Bronni and Lebron are like no thing, nohing, so absurd.
Speaker 5 (01:13:08):
I know.
Speaker 10 (01:13:09):
Again, it's just a joke. It is a joke that
they turned that down. People would have loved to see
that for sure, Yes, yes.
Speaker 2 (01:13:17):
It would have been great. People would have rooted for them,
Yes they were them, But.
Speaker 11 (01:13:22):
But no, because it's all because Lebron's only worried about Lebron.
Speaker 1 (01:13:25):
Yeah he's got a party, something to do. Yeah, he's
going to.
Speaker 10 (01:13:29):
Be there sitting down. What are you talking about? That's
the worst part.
Speaker 2 (01:13:31):
He's going to be there, Yeah, there with his phone
recording it, just like like Shack back in the day
with his handheld. Yes, yes, she's Mantis. Find her at
Manzi Blos. You can find Carry at Carrie twenty five Roads,
find me at Dan Byer on Fox and our NFL
ins at are Adam Kaplan as well at Kaplan NFL.
(01:13:51):
Carrie is on one today. You are not gonna want
to miss it. It's next here on Fox Sports Radio,
Fox Sports Sunday. I'm Dan Byer, He's Carry Rhodes, Mary
Max is here, so is Ian Roddy, Monty Belanio's at
the news desk. All three will be Carrie's lifelines coming
up next hour in a game of easy as one, two, three, four.
(01:14:14):
Because I did the game yesterday, Carrie no NBA, Luca
or Anthony Davis questions what yes? I know. As crazy
as that.
Speaker 1 (01:14:24):
Sounds, thank you Mary, Thank you Mary.
Speaker 2 (01:14:27):
Hey, we actually need a break from it. It's actually
nice to have Adam Kaplan on to talk a little
football instead of the the trade that still has everyone talking.
Speaker 4 (01:14:38):
I get you, not, Carrie.
Speaker 2 (01:14:40):
This was not hyperbole when I said, I woke up
in the middle of the night, had used the restroom
and said to myself, did that really happen? I think
other people say that stuff to try to make it
like it's part of a story. Yeah, but I was like,
wait a second, Okay, that actually did happen. I know
I'm half asleep at this point, but that actually did happen.
(01:15:00):
But still shocked, almost twenty four hours later.
Speaker 3 (01:15:02):
What do you What do you think is better the
fact that you saw it late last night before you
went to bed or as you were waking up, versus
getting the news the next day like some people did.
Speaker 1 (01:15:15):
What do you think is worse?
Speaker 2 (01:15:17):
I think it's just getting it the next day.
Speaker 1 (01:15:18):
Yeah, me too.
Speaker 2 (01:15:20):
Waking up on the West Coast. If I if I
sleep in until eight or nine, it's eleven or noon
on the East Coast, so a lot of a lot
of news happens. NFL news already has happened at you know,
for our time four am, five am, and I feel
like I'm missing out. So I'm glad. I'm glad the
West Coast was able to cash in and help us
(01:15:40):
last night that we weren't able to crash out. Although
carry Road is still going to bed at nine thirty
on Saturday.
Speaker 1 (01:15:46):
That's right.
Speaker 2 (01:15:47):
Props to you. Props to you. On an upcoming edition
of carry On that happens right now, the all pro
tells us if he's on board or yeah, not with it.
In another episode of carry On, I give him five
topics to weigh in on. We start, And I probably
should have asked Adam Kaplan this. I realized that after
(01:16:07):
I didn't ask him about the Eagles in the Super Bowl,
and I did ask him about Kellen Moore as the
Saints head coach. Sure seems like it's gonna be that way.
What are your thoughts about the Eagles offensive coordinator likely
taking over in New Orleans?
Speaker 1 (01:16:20):
Eh, I'm I'm off it. I'm off it.
Speaker 3 (01:16:25):
I mean, I know there isn't a lot of options
at the moment, and obviously Kellen Moore is hat a
great year as a coordinator. I really see him only
as a coordinator. And I know it's hard when you
have an offensive guy that's considered a genius at this
point and he's had the success he's had, you would
think he would be a good hire. But I just
don't see him having real long jevity at that, and
(01:16:46):
so for me, I'll be off. I'll be off Kellen Moore.
Speaker 2 (01:16:49):
And they're gonna have to give him some time because
it's gonna take some time to rebuild that roster. You
heard Manti, She said Pro Bowl games have already passed
the or have now passed the NBA All Star weekend
in of excitement.
Speaker 4 (01:17:01):
What are your thoughts? Are you on board with the
Pro Bowl games or not?
Speaker 1 (01:17:04):
I'm giving Moncey two thumbs down. I'm off that.
Speaker 3 (01:17:09):
My thumbs are still down because you guys can't see it,
they're still down. I'm gonna do this this whole talking
segment with my thumbs down. The Pro Bowl games are
a joke. And I know it can be entertaining for
some that are wanting to see their their their best
players out there and you know, taking part of something.
But I'm an old school guy, even though I'm.
Speaker 1 (01:17:30):
Not as old as the old old school.
Speaker 3 (01:17:33):
I'm around when people really cared about that game and
it mattered. And you have Sean Taylor tackling the punter
full speed and knocking his helmet almost off, Like I'm
a part of that time and I missed that time.
Speaker 1 (01:17:45):
So I'm off the Pro Bowl.
Speaker 2 (01:17:47):
All right. We'll see if you and Monty can agree
on this. She didn't like the Norman Powell snub for
the Western Conference All Stars. Yeap. What about LaMelo balls
snub on the Eastern Conference All Stars. I'm killed on
board with him being snubbed.
Speaker 1 (01:18:02):
No, I'm I'm off that as well.
Speaker 3 (01:18:06):
The Pro Bowl game is just like what we just said, right,
So we talked about the Pro Bowl, and you know,
people are enamored with their star players and the guys
that they want to see perform at against other star guys.
LaMelo Ball is one of the most exciting young fresh
faces in the league and he should definitely be a
part of the All Star weekend to some capacity. He
(01:18:28):
should be an All Star. I know the team is
not good at all and they will never be good again,
but he should be a part of the All Star.
Speaker 2 (01:18:35):
Game, all right. Adam Silver said ten minute quarters or
something he'd like to see in the NBA.
Speaker 1 (01:18:39):
Are you on board with that, Adam Silver? I'm off
few too. Yeah, I'm in a bad mood. I'm in
a mood right now.
Speaker 3 (01:18:52):
No, I'm so tired of them changing the game anyway.
All the records are skewed. All the numbers are skewed,
all these averaging these astronomical numbers, and the guys in
the past or are really averaging the numbers that they
should be averaging, and so everything's just skewed. Let's just
play good basketball. Keep it twelve minute quarters. We don't
(01:19:14):
have to make everything an event. Just play basketball and
play it well.
Speaker 1 (01:19:17):
So I'm off, And are you on board?
Speaker 2 (01:19:20):
The Lakers ditching their jerseys that they were one to
nine in, didn't wear them last night, and one I'm.
Speaker 3 (01:19:26):
Off to anything that Lakers right now, So I'm off
that too, dumbs down thumb.
Speaker 1 (01:19:31):
I don't care. They just stole Luca.
Speaker 3 (01:19:34):
I don't want anything to do with the Luke with
the Lakers at all. They suck. Luca sucks now.
Speaker 1 (01:19:40):
No, I'm joking. I'm just off it right now.
Speaker 2 (01:19:43):
Dan.
Speaker 1 (01:19:43):
I'll we'll talk about this later. We should do to
carry on next week because I'm off everything.
Speaker 2 (01:19:48):
Have the negative tone to today's episode. Ah, there it
is another great episode of carry On even if he
was off today, Hit them my back, carry roads at
carry twenty five roads. I'm at Dan Byron Fox more
Luca talk next, You're listening to Fox Sports Radio d
Day one of Luca as a Laker, Welcome in. It
(01:20:09):
is Fox Sports Radio as we are broadcasting live from
the tierraq dot com studios.
Speaker 4 (01:20:14):
Tierrac dot com will help you get there at.
Speaker 2 (01:20:16):
Unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road has a protection
and over ten thousand recommend an installers tirac dot com
the way tire buying should be. We're actually gonna hear
Charles Barkley's opinion on this Luka Doncic Anthony Davis trade
that has rocked the sports world. Has everyone talking except
Joe Missoula of the Boston Celtics. I wanted to play
(01:20:39):
his response carry, but it's so short and I think
you need the Missoula visual of his face to really
get the full experience of it. But he basically said,
don't ask me about the trade. I don't care, and
that was that was all he had to say. Doc
Rivers made a point The Buck said coach was asked
about it and said that he thought it was AI generated,
(01:21:02):
but then also said, usually in a trade, when both
teams think that they got the better end of the deal,
only one of them is right. And I'll tell you what,
no matter what happens, I think the Lakers got the
right end of the deal and the Mavericks got the
wrong end of the deal. But Charles Barkley may differ
in that. Before we hear what Sir Charles has to
(01:21:23):
say about the trade and how things now play out
in the NBA, if I were to put a number
to you in say three, and this is prior to
the trade last night, that I felt that there were
three players in the NBA that are just you cannot
trade them from their team. Would you think that there's
(01:21:47):
a higher number of players or a fewer number of players?
And this is before Luca has moved, because Luca is
obviously on my list.
Speaker 4 (01:21:54):
But if I said that there were three players.
Speaker 2 (01:21:56):
In the NBA, do you think that they're actually more
or less than that that really never should have been
traded or should be traded by their current teams.
Speaker 1 (01:22:02):
Yeah, I think it would be three.
Speaker 3 (01:22:03):
And I think the three would be obvious obviously, nicolea Jokic,
Luka Doncic, and I would say Yannest right, But I mean,
obviously the fourth one would be Lebron But I think
he's you.
Speaker 2 (01:22:18):
Know, I disagree. I'll tell you what we get who
my three are? Who you got Luca, Jokic and Wemby.
Speaker 1 (01:22:24):
Oh well, yes, that's true.
Speaker 2 (01:22:26):
I think that, like like with the Bucks and Giannis,
title has already been accomplished, so you've got at least
that in your back pocket.
Speaker 4 (01:22:35):
Plus there's gonna be a point where.
Speaker 2 (01:22:39):
For as much of a physical freak that he is,
he's not going to be as much of a freak.
I feel like we've already had the conversation of could
he possibly go elsewhere? Maybe the Bucks may have to
trade him, Like we've already kind of taken a couple
of steps down that road. So I almost feel like
granted would be a shock, And I said that they'd
be the Bucks would be irrelevant if they did.
Speaker 1 (01:22:59):
Yeah, I just.
Speaker 2 (01:23:01):
Like, right now as I look at it, I thought
Luca with the Mavericks, Jokics and the Nuggets, and I
thought Webbin Yama with the Spurs, just because I mean,
the the the possibilities are endless.
Speaker 1 (01:23:11):
Dan, how about Sga, I would say.
Speaker 4 (01:23:14):
That, but he's already been traded.
Speaker 12 (01:23:17):
But he wasn't undreadable at the time. But I would
say he's not tradable now.
Speaker 2 (01:23:20):
But I I don't think it would be as foeurign like.
And this is what makes this is what makes the
Luca thing crazy, is SGA could be it could very
well be the MVP this year. They're gonna be the
best team in the West.
Speaker 4 (01:23:34):
But the trade of Luca just.
Speaker 2 (01:23:38):
Like is past that I'm blanking on the word transcends it.
That's what I'm trying to say, transcends the standings, transcends
your record because of who he is.
Speaker 4 (01:23:48):
And carry made a great point of just worldwide, what
account lost seven hundred thousand followers? Which one was it?
Speaker 1 (01:23:54):
Their Instagram?
Speaker 3 (01:23:55):
So it was five Yeah, it was five point three
last night and this morning it was four point six.
Speaker 2 (01:24:00):
Yeah. If Sam Presty trades SGA were like, Presty's at
it again.
Speaker 4 (01:24:04):
Like that's what That's what we're saying. Yeah, this just doesn't.
This doesn't.
Speaker 2 (01:24:08):
And I think it's a great name to bring up
because of all of what we think goes into trading
a star, trading for a star or a superstar or
a super duper stars. I call Luca, but I think
that there are only three super duper stars that are
just absolutely positively you have to say no to every deal.
Speaker 4 (01:24:26):
And now that list is down to two because Luca
was traded last night.
Speaker 1 (01:24:29):
Man the winby one. Obviously, I just forgot it. I
just blanked on.
Speaker 3 (01:24:33):
But you're you're correct with that, But yeah, I mean
even man, Yeah, it's it's that that list is short.
And we talked about Ian brought up SGA. I mean, yeah,
I don't think he's obviously he is going to be
the MVP this year. He is, He's on the best team,
he's playing well, and I mean he's that's sure, that's
the truth. But yeah, I don't see him that way either,
which is funny.
Speaker 2 (01:24:54):
Like Jason Tatum, I mean, it's crazy he is for Boston,
Like it wouldn't be. We would not be reacting like
this if it was Jason Tatum.
Speaker 1 (01:25:00):
Well, I think we would, though. I think we would,
And I'm not saying that he's not.
Speaker 2 (01:25:05):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (01:25:05):
I'm not saying that it's not worth it or whatever
the case may be, but I think it would cause
enough for sure.
Speaker 11 (01:25:10):
I did see a tweet that said if this was
a trade involving Jason Tatum, everyone would have been asleep
at their normal time, and I laughed so hard.
Speaker 1 (01:25:21):
Don't mean point right, Yes, I like it.
Speaker 2 (01:25:24):
We need more of this sweet this.
Speaker 10 (01:25:28):
It's true though that tweet was accurate.
Speaker 11 (01:25:31):
We all would have been asleep at our normal times.
You would have been asleep at nine thirty.
Speaker 1 (01:25:34):
Oh, I would have been sleep for sure. Would we
have thought shams.
Speaker 2 (01:25:41):
Good?
Speaker 10 (01:25:42):
No, it wouldn't. Everything would have just been normal today.
Speaker 1 (01:25:45):
That's so funny.
Speaker 4 (01:25:47):
My wife like asked me. She goes, is everything all right?
Speaker 2 (01:25:52):
Because you're like in that zone right now, Like this
is the zone where I don't pay attention to anything
and something's going on in my head. So I'm staring blankly,
even though I've got Paw Patrol on one TV. My
son's playing dinosaurs, and she's like, what is this? I go, yeah,
this is just this is enormous. This is like I
can't be away. I can't be away from my phone.
(01:26:12):
By the way, good lesson to always charge your phone
because you never know when you're gonna need to be
on it because of an NBA trade that may just
rock everyone's world. Yeah, it was crazy.
Speaker 3 (01:26:23):
You're telling the wrong person. My phone's about to die now.
So I leave that chord at home all the time,
and I.
Speaker 10 (01:26:31):
Just want to buy you a chord to getting your car.
I'm buying you a chord.
Speaker 11 (01:26:35):
That's it right now on Amazon for you.
Speaker 3 (01:26:38):
You know, it's funny, Dan, another thing about this right
now in this store, which is also being lost.
Speaker 1 (01:26:42):
Really and I think we know we understand that.
Speaker 3 (01:26:45):
You know now that he's being traded at this moment,
he's losing out on the Supermax as well. Hm. So
just even like another slap in the face on the
way out, like he can't even get that. And you
know how much money he's losing just by being traded. Sure,
one hundred and sixteen million dollars.
Speaker 2 (01:27:03):
Yeah, I thought Kerry was just asking an open ended question.
Nobody actually had the number, and oh yeah, I just
passed it off, like, yeah, I get it.
Speaker 1 (01:27:11):
No, I see the number. Dad.
Speaker 4 (01:27:13):
Do you think there's any way.
Speaker 2 (01:27:16):
That he recoups it because he's a laker, any portion
of that recouped because now he's a Laker.
Speaker 1 (01:27:23):
That's a good point.
Speaker 2 (01:27:23):
Yeah, probably probably not one hundred million dollars exactly, but
maybe a little maybe some of that. I'm not trying
to By the way, I don't feel bad for Luca
right now. I mean it probably stinks to be like, oh, crap,
I got traded and and everybody wants to feel wanted
and so like to for for him to be like
this had to be. I mean, the statement that Manzi
(01:27:44):
read was a very well, you know, put out statement.
But the funny part about this is I think this
actually motivates Luca. Yes now and maybe the MAVs turned
him into the player that they wanted him to be.
It's just he's going to do it in a Lakers uniform.
So maybe there is now going to be this commitment.
Maybe there is this motivation of, oh, you didn't believe
(01:28:05):
in me, all right, I'm just gonna you know, kill
you guys in the NBA for the next fifteen years.
Speaker 3 (01:28:11):
And that's that's the natural progression for any well, I'm
not gonna say any but any top athlete that's really
committed to their craft, which I think he really loves
that game to be to be spurned or to be
told no, or to be rejected in any kind of
way is the ultimate motivating factor for that type of player.
(01:28:32):
And so he's definitely going to come out with with
the vengeance for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:28:36):
Charles Barkley was on NBA TV weighing in on his opinion,
we don't have to wait until Thursday night and inside
the NBA to hear it, Charles Barkley weighed in on
his thoughts. Here us a little bit about what Chuck
said about this blockbuster trade.
Speaker 15 (01:28:48):
Okay, see, they're my favorite to win this thing, but man,
the Dallas Mavericks, they might have just became the second
best team in the Western Conference because the jury is
still out. I think DEVI needs to make a trade
because they need to get some bench help.
Speaker 2 (01:29:06):
The Rockets are so young.
Speaker 15 (01:29:08):
I'm not gonna take the Rockets beating the MAVs in
a seven game series.
Speaker 2 (01:29:14):
And go ahead. I don't care about any of that.
That's irrelevant to me on how this affects the West.
This trade is much bigger than the standings, and that's
the that's the issue that I had, Like, Okay, if
they're second best to the teams are nowadays, teams are like,
all right, I want to get in the top four,
(01:29:35):
but I don't want to be top five because at
least want home court. I don't want to be one
necessarily because then I'm on this side of the bracket
of this team that didn't really care about winning the
top Like there's all this jockeying for position and who's
doing what. They may be the second best team in
the West, but imagine telling that to a Mavericks fan. Look,
we're gonna get rid of Luka Doncic, but good news,
(01:29:55):
you're gonna be second in the West. Nobody cares. They'd
rather have Luka Doncic, and like that's the point. So
I know, I know the NBA people like want to
put this on it is just a good trade, But
this is just it. This is this transcends the standings.
This is more than the standings. That's what I have
a problem with.
Speaker 3 (01:30:13):
Yeah, that's what we talked about an hour one right, Like, yes,
it's from a basketball perspective, you can look at why
it could work, and we talked about it. It can
work this year and it can be fun, but nobody cares.
Real real fans are heartbroken and just winning one championship
does not mask losing their their their guy. And you
(01:30:36):
know when you know what it's like when if you
lose your guy, your girl, whatever that is, like it sucks.
And so that's what it feels like for the guys
in Dallas right now.
Speaker 2 (01:30:44):
Charles Barkley had more to say, Do we have that Okay,
we're gonna, we're gonna, we're gonna get that piece of it.
Because again, now now every trade we're gonna look at.
But this is the point. If there is a if
the Nuggets do do deal, if the Lakers do another deal,
and maybe it's different with the Lakers carry because they
(01:31:08):
have Lucas so they're kind of like tied to it,
but no other deal matches what this is. And again
to try to to try to move chess pieces, all
of these pieces may be moved, and no one's better
than Oklahoma City. So what's the point except that Dallas
has just lost the face of their sporting community, right
(01:31:28):
like that, that's ultimately maybe what it is. But I mean, honestly,
if you're in an arms race trying to beat Oklahoma City,
who still has picks upon picks upon picks and the
possible MVP of this season and another All Star in
Jalen Williams, and you've got Chet Holmgren, and if you've
(01:31:48):
got all these other pieces like their future. This is
why Nico Harrison like laughing about this sets us up
with the next three to four years, but I don't
know about ten years, and you're.
Speaker 4 (01:31:57):
Trying to compete with the Thunder.
Speaker 2 (01:31:58):
I guess so the Thunder actually seem like they're shut
up for the next ten years, right, So like in
trying to make a deal to top Oklahoma City, sure
seems pretty short sighted to me.
Speaker 3 (01:32:08):
Yeah, And I think that's that's the culture we've created, right.
We live in the world now where things have to
be immediate, and I think there is a layer and responsibility.
That's a responsibility piece as well here for any GM right,
like their job depends on winning championships, and so you
talk about history and talk about longevity. Yes, that's the goal.
(01:32:31):
I think everybody wants to work until they say they're
done themselves. So to get shipped out is never never
a good thing. So if you're gonna do it, do
it on your terms. This is definitely a Nico Harrison.
This is on my terms. I'm going to try to
win and that's what I'm here to do. And if
that's the case, cool, Everybody's not going to like that,
(01:32:51):
you know what I mean, Like, that's that's a fact.
But hey, you can't say I didn't do my job.
I brought us a championship and that will matter.
Speaker 2 (01:33:00):
Here's Charles Barkley more on what he said on NBA
TV about this deal. Let me tell you something.
Speaker 15 (01:33:06):
The only people know Luka Dncik is to Dallas, Mavericks,
guys who've been with him for years, who around him
every day. He's a great player. He's a great player.
But all us talking heads, they know something. They must
know something we don't know because listen, he's been hurt.
(01:33:28):
Everybody complains about his conditioning. But once you give a
guy five years, three hundred and fifty million dollars, y'all
are stuck together for life.
Speaker 2 (01:33:38):
He's he's right about that as it is. But I
don't think Dallas would would hate that. I think that like,
let Luka Doncic disappoint you, don't let Nico Harrison disappoint you.
Speaker 1 (01:33:49):
That's true.
Speaker 2 (01:33:50):
Let it Let your superstar do it right. Let him
be the one to bear the responsibility. If he's going
to get all that money, then he needs to live
up to it. That's the part of and also just
the fact of if the Mavericks do know something that
we don't know, just like the Seahawks felt like they
knew something about Russell Wilson that nobody else knew, then
(01:34:11):
you have to go out and get the best deal.
You don't just talk to one team and don't tell
anybody about it for three to four weeks.
Speaker 4 (01:34:17):
Well you know that, go ahead and just said that's
what I keep coming back to Kerry.
Speaker 1 (01:34:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:34:21):
I think the other part of this that we're not
talking about, right, like if behind the scenes, again, like
Charles just said, we don't know, and even you know,
Nico said it didn't it didn't happen, But that doesn't
mean it's true. Like, if there was any doubt or
fear that he wouldn't sign back after next year, you're
(01:34:41):
losing that player for nothing, right, But if there was
a little understanding that he may test the waters and
right now you can talk to the Lakers and bring
in a d for this year to win a championship
with the thought that Luca may not sign that max
deal down the line in a year in a year
(01:35:03):
or so, then what would you do, Dan, Like, because
I think that's the other part of this thing that
again we're talking about things that are hypotheticals.
Speaker 1 (01:35:11):
Yeah, but what if that was the piece.
Speaker 2 (01:35:14):
I would say this, I would let Luca become the
bad guy, Yeah, I would let I would put it
on him and then you don't lose your fan base
and you don't lose your community.
Speaker 1 (01:35:24):
That's true.
Speaker 2 (01:35:24):
Ye put it on him to say I don't want
to resign, I don't want to be back, And there's
always going to be a group of people, and maybe
a large group of people that say, well, the Mavericks
didn't surround Luca with what he needed. And I think
we could all point to last year to be like,
they sure really tried hard to surround him what he
needed and it got him to the NBA Finals. And
granted they lost in five games, wasn't maybe much of
(01:35:47):
a competitive finals, but they they did make moves at
the deadline and they were great winners in that deadline.
But put it on Luca, don't be proactive in doing this.
Allow somebody else to do it. And that's the part
that I think is just let let it play out
in the way that that he did. I know, we
don't want to think that players have this much power,
(01:36:08):
but they do when you're that type of player. It's funny.
I'm on, you know, on ESPN right now, and they
last night they put a montage of that great Luca clips. Yeah,
and and now they're showing him shoot the three right
in Rudy Gobert's face. Yeah, like that wasn't even that
was less than a year ago. That was like eight
months ago that this happened. And so for you know,
(01:36:31):
Barkle'll be like, they may know something about Luca. Okay,
then maybe they do, but then that doesn't explain the
limited haul that you got, even if you're getting Anthony Davis,
who is in his early thirties and by the way,
dealing with an abstrain, you know, you know, like as
of late, So there's there's it's just tough to justify,
you know. Then you know, you know, get somebody to
(01:36:51):
give you eight first round picks, shop them.
Speaker 1 (01:36:54):
To Oklahoma City.
Speaker 2 (01:36:55):
They got Olympics, right, you know, the sabotage them, so
then you can build up and do what you need
to do. If he's that bad, throw him on that
team take away there Arsenal instead of just giving him
to the Lakers.
Speaker 4 (01:37:06):
Yeah, there's so many different ways they could have gone.
Speaker 3 (01:37:08):
About this, oh one thousand percent, and yes, we and
we know and we know that, and just the conversation
of trying to trying to be the levelhead, calm person
this third hour. So I'm throwing out these scenarios, but yeah,
there's no way you get the haul that you got
back for Luca Doncions.
Speaker 2 (01:37:24):
Well, I appreciate that, but you're the MAVs fans less
of a fan today. I'm serious because people are people
are carrying caskets to the arena.
Speaker 1 (01:37:33):
I'm not.
Speaker 3 (01:37:34):
My My fandom pre dates Luca, so my my loyalty.
Speaker 1 (01:37:39):
Is already there and we'll be there obviously.
Speaker 3 (01:37:41):
Like I said, it hurts to see a guy like that,
who you know, who's giving us so much joy and
so much hope in these you know, these limited amount
of these limited limited amount of years that he's been there,
So it sucks. But I am Medallas Maverick fan, So
I'm just trying to get myself back in that mindset
right now.
Speaker 2 (01:37:58):
You know, Manci hit on this earlier, and it's so true.
I liked Luca too, like I liked Luca as a player.
I have my son. I try to get them just
a bunch of sports shirts. I just want him to
be in the sports. They don't always have to be
my favorite team. I bought him a Luca shersey, you know,
at the Dallas Mavericks he's worn it before. Because listen,
(01:38:21):
I'm I'm not gonna give him a Jason Tatum one.
You know, he's not gonna wear any Celtics stuff like
that's not going to happen. It's not gonna get a
Jimmy Butler one in the Miami Heat. That is not
gonna happen. Although what Jimmy Butler is doing to the
Heat right now is kind of fun to watch. But
I digress. Point being is he was one of those
players in one of those places that you can really
like and that you could become a fan of. In fact,
(01:38:43):
like I thought, like Patrick Mahomes early on in his career,
not trying to compare NBA and NFL, but the Chiefs
weren't going to Super Bowls, and so when they go
to the Super Bowl and they win, and he's young,
and it's like, yeah, I like Patrick Mahomes. I have
nothing against Patrick Mahomes. Thank goodness. It's not Tom Brady,
you know, they good It's not the Patriot. It's there
was there was a newness to it, and there was
a point where if you even if you are a
(01:39:04):
fan of that team, you cald like other players in
the league it's actually why like, like, I like the
Aaron Fox. Why, well, guess what. The Kings haven't had
great success, but Fox is awesome. Now Fox wants out
of Sacramento. Guess what.
Speaker 4 (01:39:17):
He doesn't want to go to the Lakers. He wants
to go to San Antonio.
Speaker 2 (01:39:20):
Guess what. I still love the Aaron Fox.
Speaker 4 (01:39:22):
You know, like it like that doesn't necessarily that doesn't
change me.
Speaker 2 (01:39:26):
But now I'm like, gosh, I like Luca and now
he's a Laker, like this is.
Speaker 4 (01:39:31):
Yeah, I actually liked Lebron, Like as crazy as this is.
Speaker 2 (01:39:34):
I know people think that I'm a Lebron hater or
we've talked and I'm critical about it, but I liked
Lebron in Cleveland. I liked him in Stint one and
Stint two. I loved you know, I thought it was
I thought it was great. But you put on those
enemy colors, gets you worked up.
Speaker 1 (01:39:47):
Then you had me.
Speaker 3 (01:39:48):
You had me going until you said, darreon Fox going
to San Antonio. And you'll still like them. You gotta remember,
I'm a Maverick fan. I hate San Antonio as well.
They they tortured us in the early two thousands.
Speaker 1 (01:40:00):
It wasn't fun at all.
Speaker 2 (01:40:01):
Well, Giannis wants to fight Chris Paul, so maybe I
shouldn't be as high of a San Antonio Spur fan.
But the point being of just of like where you
have these stars in certain places, it's not just running
to you know, running to the great team. I only
want to be traded to the Knicks, Lakers and Warriors,
you know, like, it's not that sort of thing. So
(01:40:22):
all right, he's carry roads. I'm Dan Byer. He's still
a Mavericks fan through and through. Will he get a
perfect score of ten in easy as one, two, three, four?
You could play along? That's next year on Fox Sports
Radio Fox Sports Sunday, the Sunday before Super Bowl fifty nine.
But all we're talking is hoops. Luka Doncic now a Laker,
(01:40:44):
Anthony Davis member of the Dallas Mavericks. If you missed
it earlier. Coming up at the end of the show,
we'll hear a little bit more from Nico Harrison, the
Maps general manager, trying to explain this one away that
still has so many of us like myself, scratching our heads. Carrie, Yep,
they carried twenty five roads. You can find me at
Dan Byer on Fox loving the response that we've been
(01:41:08):
getting malorprop twenty twenty four mal Or Palou's a seat filler,
sweets in regarding potential loss money from Luca from Dallas
to La California state taxes will taxes will hit him
a little bit harder. Yes, something true about that. Lakers
fans happy. We had Brendan tweeting in earlier saying that
(01:41:31):
it's a portrait for the Lakers and an awful one
for the Mavericks, saying neither we'll get in better shape
long term. I think that's I think it's a legitimate question.
I just that's not where my head lands on the argument.
And I'll tell you what. The Lakers having the Superstar,
they now don't have to worry about the passing of
the torch from lebron because it feels like it was
(01:41:52):
just passed last night, whether lebron knew anything or not.
Speaker 1 (01:41:56):
Yeah. No, that's the other thing.
Speaker 3 (01:41:58):
The other part of it, I think that's being swept
under the rug a little bit is this is this
is the Lakers, and this is what they do. They
they like to go out and get the the Superstar
to come in and carry the torch after the superstar
that's starting to wane in his career has the opportunity
to kind of bow out peacefully, and then the next
(01:42:21):
guy kind of steps up and kind of carries that torch.
That's what it seems like because obviously, right now where
we stand, they aren't they aren't a team right now
that can win it all. And so if they're gonna
make moves, we'll see, as you know, the next couple
of days progresses and passes by. But yeah, I mean,
it's obviously a move for the future for them.
Speaker 2 (01:42:41):
Let's I'll tell you what we're gonna do. We're gonna
go to Manci first, and then we're gonna do easy
as one, two, three, four, try to get this, try
to get carries game and a perfect score of ten
before we uh we we head out of here. Let's
go to Manzi. She can give us an update of
what's happening around the NBA and elsewhere. M and then
carry sits in the hot seat.
Speaker 11 (01:43:02):
Well, uh lukadance it Chi is no longer a mav
I can't. Somebody posted a picture of ten jerseys that
they owned of Luka.
Speaker 10 (01:43:11):
Doncic as a Maverick Like that's so like Lakers. Send
him one like you at this point, send the.
Speaker 1 (01:43:18):
Guy one, send him for all the reef, for all.
Speaker 10 (01:43:21):
Of those No, absolutely crazy. There is one game going
on in the NBA right now.
Speaker 11 (01:43:25):
It's the seventy six Ers, who seemed to be holding
onto their lead over the Celtics. Tyres Maxi started things off.
He at sixteen points in the first quarter. He's got
twenty five points now early in the third, Philadelphia beating
Boston sixty.
Speaker 10 (01:43:38):
Five to forty nine.
Speaker 11 (01:43:40):
Again early in the third quarter, the Raptors beat the
Clippers already one fifteen to one. Away, Pistons took down
the Bulls one twenty seven to one nineteen, and the
Cavaliers crushed the Mavericks one forty four to one oh one.
MAVs GM Nico Harrison speaking to the media today about
that blockbuster trade, then none of us can stop talking about,
saying that he and Lakers GM Ropuli get kept things
(01:44:00):
close to the chest, that head coach Jason Kidd did
not know about the trade. He also said he didn't
speak to any other team besides the Lakers. He said
a lot of questionable things today. Pella is at that
press conference. Another NBA used Chris Paul and Victor one
Byam are gonna partner up and represent the Spurs by
participating in a skills challenge at All Star Weekend in
San Francisco. Other NBA news, Devin Booker on his social
(01:44:23):
media he started leaving shoes. It looks like at a
ski or snowboarding resort, maybe in Arizona, but leaving shoes
of his sign for people to find. And then there
was a skier or who was literally skiing down the
slopes with the box and he found the shoes and
he pulled it out, and then Devin Booker retweeted that,
So I.
Speaker 1 (01:44:41):
Was like, that's kind of cool.
Speaker 11 (01:44:44):
Yeah, It's like I would love to find these shoes
and they're signed by him and on the shoe it
says Finders Keepers.
Speaker 10 (01:44:50):
Like it's actually I was like into I was. I
was impressed by by all of it.
Speaker 11 (01:44:55):
Asia Wilson and her had her jersey retired today by
the South Carolina game Cocks and then they won the
game against Auburn, so that's good. Fever Star Kaitlin Clark
had her jersey retired by Iowa and then Iowa beat
USC fourth ranked USC by the way seventy sixty sixty nine.
Ucla guys are still undefeated. The ladies cannot can just
(01:45:15):
they can't stop winning. They crushed Minnesota seventy nine to
fifty three, So good job there. Chip Kelly is leaving
Ohio State, returning to the NFL to become the Las
Vegas Raiders offensive coordinator under new head coach Pete Carroll
and Rory Michael Roy has won the Pebble Beach Pro Am.
Speaker 2 (01:45:31):
Back to you, guys, we can't get Caitlyn Clark and
Asia Wilson. I have their jerseys retired on different days.
Speaker 10 (01:45:36):
Listen again, that is also both twenty two. Like it
was just weird, yeah, weird that they did both of
the both of the same day.
Speaker 14 (01:45:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (01:45:49):
And also Bam out of Bayo was he was there?
He was there, yeah, oh yeah, he was looking sharp.
So that the romance rumors continue exactly that.
Speaker 2 (01:45:58):
You, oh, Harrison decided that they should both have it
on the same day, because that's just as bad of
a decision.
Speaker 1 (01:46:04):
Well, have something to do with the twenty two is
February second?
Speaker 10 (01:46:07):
Maybe right, yes.
Speaker 4 (01:46:09):
But there's there that's a good point.
Speaker 10 (01:46:10):
Isn't there a February twenty second?
Speaker 4 (01:46:13):
Now, Monzi great point.
Speaker 10 (01:46:15):
Monzi, doesn't just Pointebruary.
Speaker 1 (01:46:19):
Yes and get her hand what you got number two two?
Speaker 10 (01:46:28):
It makes no sense, guys, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:46:30):
We did pick our wedding day. They gave us a
couple of weekends because we liked how the numbers sounded
with it. Sure it was ours is five six seventeen,
so May sixth. The twenty seventeen was when we got married.
There were other weekends, but it just sounded clunky. But
that worked. Yeah, it's all about making the numbers work.
So Manzi, I'm with you. Whether it's too slash two
(01:46:52):
or to slash twenty two like, you can make it work. However,
as long as you can, you can figure out a
plan with it. All right, Monzi, don't go anywhere I
go anywhere at Mary Max sit tight, Carrie's in the
hot seats. Time to play easy as one, two, three four.
As I told you, guys, this this game was made
before the Luca Anthony Davis trad. Yes, so there's some
(01:47:12):
football questions here. There is an NBA question, but otherwise
it kind of focuses more about the Super Bowl. So
this will give us a little Luca breather from what's
been going on, But we do start out with question
number one. I give carry a topic. He doesn't have
to give me all the correct answers to some of them.
And if he doesn't know the answers, he can reach
out to one of his three lifelines and they can
help him work shop it for the goal of getting
(01:47:34):
a perfect score of ten. Carr. Here we go. Name
one of two Western Conference All Stars playing in their
first All Star Game in twenty twenty five, not including
Victor wembin Yama, so we know Victor's in his first
All Star game. Name one of the other two first
timers from the Western Conference All Star roster.
Speaker 3 (01:47:56):
Okay, because I can't see the list, so it's hard,
but I'm going to go.
Speaker 1 (01:48:02):
I'm going to go with Mancy on this when they
helped me out.
Speaker 10 (01:48:05):
On I'm also okay, see guy, oh.
Speaker 1 (01:48:09):
Yeah, Jalen william exactly.
Speaker 3 (01:48:11):
Something.
Speaker 2 (01:48:12):
That's all I need is one.
Speaker 1 (01:48:13):
That's it. That's where we go.
Speaker 4 (01:48:14):
That's it, all right, show me Jalen Williams.
Speaker 1 (01:48:17):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (01:48:17):
That is correct. We mentioned it earlier in the show.
I mentioned a little Jalen Williams as well alprid Ngoons
right by the way, props the Manzi on our news
feeds that we have sent out with our departments. She
got all of the accent marks. I have no idea
how to do that on the.
Speaker 10 (01:48:35):
Keyboard, A copy and paste, copy and paste. I did
not know how to do that. I don't know my name,
bron know how to.
Speaker 1 (01:48:43):
Do my You should have took the credit on now
and that was impressive.
Speaker 2 (01:48:46):
I know how to do it on my phone, like
I've got a German keyboard on my phone, but I
do not know how to do it on a desk.
Speaker 12 (01:48:51):
You just Google and with an accent and then it'll
come up and Google and then you highlight in copy
like copy and paste.
Speaker 2 (01:48:57):
Yeah, that's that's the way to go.
Speaker 14 (01:48:59):
You don't have a German on your phone, you can
just long press what you want to.
Speaker 10 (01:49:03):
That's exactly right, Dan.
Speaker 1 (01:49:07):
We're showing our ads. That's all.
Speaker 10 (01:49:10):
Keyboard. I was like, oh yeah, I would think he's
long pressent.
Speaker 2 (01:49:13):
I was like, okay, whatever, I'll text you guys in
German if you'd like, alright, go ahead talk uh name
two of three all time leading rushers carry for the
Kansas City Chiefs, two of two of three, two of
the three.
Speaker 3 (01:49:28):
I'll go Priest Priest Holmes, and will I go Larry Johnson,
But let me let me see Priest and Larry.
Speaker 1 (01:49:38):
And then there's Christi Nakoye, who all right, two of
the three.
Speaker 3 (01:49:43):
I'm gonna go Priest Holmes for sure. Okay, I'm gonna
go Larry Johnson. But all right, wait, let me go
to because Ian's giving me a look what you got
in Well, I don't know, but I'm Jamal Charles. Girls
could be could be in there, Jamal Charles, could be.
That's that's the name that came to my mind. But
(01:50:05):
let's go Priest. Then let's go Jamal Charles.
Speaker 2 (01:50:07):
Then okay, yeah, show me Priest Holmes number two on
the list in seventy yards, show me Jamal Charles, Yeah,
seventy two hundred and sixty yards number one. Larry Johnson
was third six fifteen yards. Christian Nakoye was fourth forty
eight ninety seven.
Speaker 1 (01:50:27):
So I would have been good either way. But I
like it again, I like.
Speaker 2 (01:50:30):
Yes, but the a Koye was just on the outside
looking in. Yeah, it would have been close. Carrie's three for
three so far, going for three more points. Carrie named
three of the four most common Super Bowl host cities
slash metropolitan areas. What cities have hosted the Super Bowl
(01:50:51):
the most? Okay, we're going three to the four.
Speaker 1 (01:50:55):
New Orleans, Okay, I'll go.
Speaker 2 (01:51:04):
LA.
Speaker 3 (01:51:06):
Let me say New Orleans, La, Arizona, couple back to back.
I'm gonna go, Hm, it's got to be a Florida
one in there too.
Speaker 1 (01:51:15):
What do you got? I know, New Orleans. I would
say New Orleans.
Speaker 12 (01:51:19):
Green Bays coming to mind, just because they were in
the first few. No, I don't know if there was
like a.
Speaker 2 (01:51:25):
City who's hosted the superhosted?
Speaker 1 (01:51:27):
Yes, so New Orleans I would think is one and
they didn't host it. You wouldn't Super Bowls one. You
wouldn't play in the super Bowl in Wisconsin. No, I'm
skipping a hand on Florida.
Speaker 10 (01:51:38):
I think Florida has to be.
Speaker 1 (01:51:41):
But what city would be? Jacksonville, Tampa, Tampa. Maybe not Jacksonville,
not Jacksonville.
Speaker 11 (01:51:49):
I think New Orleans, Los Angeles either, right, not Miami.
Speaker 10 (01:51:53):
It would be Tampa.
Speaker 14 (01:51:54):
I think it would be Tampa.
Speaker 3 (01:51:55):
I said, Okay, so let's go Tampa, let's go New Orleans,
and let's go LA. But I think Arizona as well,
because they had like a couple of them. Back to
let's just going, I said, Shampa.
Speaker 2 (01:52:07):
LA, New Orleans, show me New Orleans. It's gonna be
number eleven on Sunday between the Chief sand Eagles. Show
me LA at some event at the Rose Bowl so
if I Stadium obviously is hosted. And to Ian's point,
the Packers did play in Super Bowl one in the.
Speaker 4 (01:52:26):
Coliseum in Los Angeles, so LA a part of that.
Speaker 2 (01:52:29):
And show me Tampa five times it's been in Tampa.
Miami was the other eleven times. I both hosting eleven
and Carrie, you weren't off of Arizona. They've hosted it
four times. So they hosted their first one in Super
Bowl thirty, which almost thirty years ago now, but still
that's the fourth of the fifth most for metropolitan area
(01:52:53):
of being able to host the Super Bowl. All right,
last question, and you've got a perfect game here six
for six. Name four of the five Tier eames that
Nick Foles has played an NFL game for besides the
Philadelphia Eagle Beside, we know he's an Eagles hero, but
name four of the five teams nick Foles has played for.
Speaker 3 (01:53:15):
Jacksonville, Nick Foles, I know Jacksonville man that might be
it what you got?
Speaker 1 (01:53:25):
I what else? The Bears? Yeah, we need two more?
Speaker 2 (01:53:31):
Mary? You got any for a while.
Speaker 14 (01:53:33):
I don't know why random, I just thought of the Patriots.
I feel like I'm way off though he's probably never
played for the Patriots. I don't even know who he is.
I'm and it's the first time I'm hearing his name.
Speaker 2 (01:53:45):
Let's call marry a death line and instead of a lifeline.
Speaker 1 (01:53:52):
Honest, that's what I love it. That's why I did
not go to Mary. You know I love him.
Speaker 14 (01:53:56):
But what if the Patriots is the right answer?
Speaker 10 (01:53:58):
It might be it might be dealer. So why did he.
Speaker 1 (01:54:02):
Beat the Patriots?
Speaker 12 (01:54:03):
And I think there would They would have made a
bigger deal about him beating his form.
Speaker 14 (01:54:06):
Okay, let's go random. Then let's say Steelers.
Speaker 1 (01:54:08):
Not Steelers either.
Speaker 10 (01:54:10):
Why do I want to say Colts Anthony? Yes, with
Anthony Richards.
Speaker 1 (01:54:17):
His head, but not with Anthony Richard. That's why Anthony.
Speaker 10 (01:54:22):
But like why, I don't know. I I literally I
might be way off.
Speaker 1 (01:54:25):
Yeah, he could have gone there because Frank Frank Reich.
Where was Frank? Anyway? This is gonna be hard like
a DA Bears. You said, who I said?
Speaker 11 (01:54:35):
The Colts because for some reason, as a.
Speaker 12 (01:54:38):
Backup, maybe I'll go with Colts. I clearly see him
in a cult form. I don't know why, but yeah, head, yes,
I'll go Colts.
Speaker 2 (01:54:45):
Okay, that's three.
Speaker 10 (01:54:46):
Okay, we need another one, yes, okay, I don't know.
Speaker 11 (01:54:51):
Maybe go with Mary Okay, okay, okay, so we have
crazy Bears Colts.
Speaker 14 (01:54:58):
I'm gonna just start saying was mentioned.
Speaker 1 (01:55:02):
Jacksonville. I guess I can't see all the teams. It's
hard for me.
Speaker 3 (01:55:07):
Yeah, no, Dan, I don't think we're gonna get this one,
but I go, okay, I throw let me throw one
team out.
Speaker 1 (01:55:13):
Let me just throw it out.
Speaker 14 (01:55:16):
Cardinals. As you know, I said, Tightens and then Ian
just said it right now, Titans.
Speaker 1 (01:55:23):
I said that like off air. That time to be
ok right.
Speaker 14 (01:55:28):
If the Titans is true, can you get double points
for that?
Speaker 4 (01:55:31):
Sure?
Speaker 2 (01:55:31):
Absolutely? Show me Jacksonville. Yes, he appeared in four games
for Jacksonville, show me Chicago, ten games for the Bears,
show me the Colts. Yes, three games in Indianapolis and
for a perfect score of ten on easy as one, two, three, four?
Speaker 4 (01:55:54):
Is it the Titans?
Speaker 14 (01:55:59):
I'm sorry down.
Speaker 10 (01:56:01):
Yeah, I could not think.
Speaker 1 (01:56:03):
Come, what were the other teams.
Speaker 2 (01:56:06):
He actually played eleven games for the Rams. This was
before he went to Philadelphia. He was a member of
the Uh, excuse me, right after right after he went
to Philadelphia drafted him the Eagles.
Speaker 12 (01:56:18):
Yeah it was Philly, yes, But then when they won
the Super Bowl? Was that like his second stint?
Speaker 2 (01:56:23):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (01:56:23):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:56:24):
And in between there was a stop in Kansas City.
Speaker 1 (01:56:28):
Kansas City?
Speaker 2 (01:56:29):
Yes, no, yes. No. Part of the reason why this
question was used because yeah, Nick Foles was once a
chief Eagles will face.
Speaker 10 (01:56:38):
Should have Dan does this? This was our fault connected,
This is our fault.
Speaker 8 (01:56:43):
Guys.
Speaker 2 (01:56:46):
You wouldn't believe. Great job, guys. You wouldn't believe what
Nico Harrison had to say about the Luca trade. He's
carry road I'm Dan Byer with Manzilo I and Roddy
and Mary Mack. It's next year at Fox Sports Radio
Fox or its Sunday East Carrie road Z the all Pro.
I'm Dan Byer. I could also say carry long, long
(01:57:08):
time Dallas Mavericks fan and will continue to be. So
did today help it all carried? Did these three hours
help you through the process of just soaking this all in?
Speaker 3 (01:57:20):
You know what the first hour raids. I was like
the Red Hulk in Captain America. But after that, you know,
talking through the process, it felt like a therapy session.
Speaker 1 (01:57:33):
You gave me some nice titbits.
Speaker 14 (01:57:35):
Seven stages of grief.
Speaker 1 (01:57:36):
Yeah, I got some love along the way, Ian Mary.
Speaker 3 (01:57:40):
I feel like I'm in a better place right now, Dan,
until I get home, but right now I'm better. I'm
better for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:57:47):
I just think. And I'm not in your shoes, and
I'm not in any Mavericks fans shoes. Yeah, I go
just back to the point I made a little bit earlier,
was just that Laka Luca was a likable guy and
it just stinks to not be able to cheer for
him anymore.
Speaker 3 (01:58:01):
Yeah, And I'm not gonna And that's that was the
one thing I thought about actually when the trade happened. Initially,
I was like, am I gonna care about watching Luca? So,
like if the Lakers played, am I gonna watch Luca play?
I don't think so. And that's and that does sting,
Like that that part, right, like I don't get to
watch him on the daily basis because I'm not gonna
(01:58:22):
watch him just to see the Lakers play, you know
what I mean?
Speaker 2 (01:58:25):
Yes, Well, before we wrap up, we do want to
leave with some parting words, but they're not our parting words,
the parting words of MAVs General editor Nico Harrison, who
did take about three or four questions prior to the
Mavericks game today against the Cleveland Cavaliers. And this is
how Harrison summed up the deal on the trade that
sent Luca to the Lakers and Anthony Davis to Big D.
Speaker 5 (01:58:46):
You think you think this will work in the short term,
in the long term? Short, short term makes great sense.
How do you see this working out well for the organization.
Speaker 2 (01:58:53):
In the long term?
Speaker 6 (01:58:54):
Well, I think the long term is the time frame.
I think he fits our time frame. If you pair
him with with Kyrie and the rest of the guys,
he fits right along with our time frame to win
now and win in the future. And the future to
me is three four years from now, in the future,
ten years from now, I don't know. I don't think
they probably burying me and Jaybuddy or we bear ourselves yet.
Speaker 2 (01:59:17):
Oh man, Jason kidd Yeah, bury ourselves? Yeah, exactly. What's
Jason Kidds supposed to do? What is Jason Kidds supposed
to do? Doesn't know about this. Someone else thinks that
he knows what he thinks. Tough spot to be in.
Speaker 3 (01:59:31):
Yeah, Jay Kidd didn't sign up. I don't think he
would have signed Well, maybe he would have, but I
don't think he would have signed up knowing that Luca
wasn't going to be in the plans long term.
Speaker 2 (01:59:40):
No, absolutely not. And I wonder if that's just the
reason why Nico Harrison. Nico Harrison wanted Anthony Davis because
he's friends with Anthony Davis. He had a relationship with
Anthony Davis and didn't want anything to get in the
way of that. And that's a shame for Mavericks fans,
including Harry Rhoads. It's been fun carry talked to you
next time on Fox Sports Sunday,
