This is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff, presented by
Bett Mgina. No, We're lyve from your tailgate. Here's Brian No,
former Penn State All American, Rich Wrenberger, and pix Wives
lead betting analyst Jared Smith.
Speaker 4 (00:45):
Oh, good morning, Welcome in superb Sunday.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Baby, it is tomorrow. I am ready. I don't know
if I'm going to sleep tonight.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
It does feel a little bit of Christmas Eve, does
it that? Rich? Yeah, you have a little bit of
that vibe where you're like, man, you know, will mom
and dad be really man? If I open up one
of those presents under the tree. I know that I
know that Aunt Mildred always sends pajamas, but maybe just one,
just one rushing prop bet like you just let me
(01:20):
know if like Sakwan stays under the number like, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
No, I have fifty one bets already. Seriously tomorrow, Well
I didn't.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
I got to get to fifty nine, right, I was
about to say, had eight more?
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Yeah, at eight more.
Speaker 5 (01:35):
Actually, I haven't done the coin toss yet. I always do,
like twenty bucks on the coin toss. Tails never fails always, So.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
There's one got seven more? Maybe we'll addam during the show.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
I read something earlier this week where the coin toss
the record is like thirty and twenty eight. I think
over the last fifty eight Super Bowls is very close.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
Yeah, yeah, freak the surprise, yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
Which has the edge, you know, but there's no I
thought of you for a second, Jared, because you've said
this a few times on the show. Right, if it's
Tales five times in a row, you think, oh it's
gonna be head No, no, no, fifty to fifty chance.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
Again, that's right, But it does make.
Speaker 6 (02:13):
Me think, are we're gonna see thirty twenty nine?
Speaker 3 (02:16):
That's all tails is due? Yeah? Tails, by the way,
always better in a dome.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Oh yeah, there you go there as they're a hard
hitting info.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
By the way, it makes me think of the Patriots
also where Matthew Slater. He was one of the captains
right Special Teams, unbelievable player, but he always chose heads
because he said God was the head of his family,
so he always chose heads. It's just funny, like some
(02:50):
of the superstitions and some reasons why I was a
Tales Never Fails guy, right, Like I think you just
said that, Jared, So yep, it's just funny how that goes.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
Let's with this, guys.
Speaker 4 (03:00):
There are so many things to dive into with this matchup,
but I wanted to start surface level, simple question outside
of which team wins, which team loses, which we're all
interested in finding out the answer to that, what are
you most interested in seeing play out? Maybe it's something
that you don't know the answer to or even have
(03:21):
a great guess as to what we're going to see.
Just something specific about the game. Could be how well
Jalen Hurts runs the ball, or how well the Eagles
defense defends Mahomes, anything in particular. We'll start with you
Rich that you have your eye on that you can't
wait to get the answers to.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
I'm really interested in seeing how the Chiefs defend the Eagles,
and what I mean by that is, is what are
they selling out to stop? You would assume its Saquon
Barkley or is the thought process, Well, Saquon's going to
get his so let's just make sure that we're not
getting beat on a deep pass or an ex play.
(04:01):
So where do you want to lose to the Eagles,
Because you're gonna lose somewhere. Obviously, they have playmakers down
the field, they have a playmaker in the backfield. So
I'm really curious to see what Spags draws up against
this Philadelphia offense, which is imperfect. We know it has
some warts. Jalen Hurts hasn't played amazing football this playoff,
He's played good enough, and obviously Saquon Barkley in this
(04:23):
offensive line have done a tremendous job. So I'm really
interested to see what the Chiefs draw to slow down
the Eagles. That's That's one of the biggest focuses I'm
going to go into Sunday with.
Speaker 5 (04:35):
I actually agree with that one hundred percent because I
actually think that's the leading argument for how Kansas City
plays the game offensively. And the way that you can
coct your betting portfolios for these games is you figure
out what the game script is gonna be, or you
try to figure out what the game script is going
to be. Are we gonna have the Eagles on the
front foot and Mahomes is going to have to chase
(04:56):
the game?
Speaker 7 (04:57):
All right?
Speaker 1 (04:57):
Well, then we're going over on the saquon.
Speaker 5 (04:59):
Props under on a lot of the Eagles passing props,
over on a lot of the Mahomes passing props under
on a lot of the Chiefs rushing props.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
Like, what's the game script gonna be? Is it gonna be?
Speaker 5 (05:11):
What the game script has been, frankly for the games
all year long for both of these teams, which is,
Philly leads the NFL in time of possession, They're a bully,
they're gonna keep the ball, they're gonna run it down
your throat, and the Chiefs have been chasing the games.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
That's been the vibe for every game this year for
the Chiefs.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Pretty much.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
They're behind, they're losing the box score, they come back late,
and they win.
Speaker 5 (05:33):
And if I think that's how the game's gonna go,
I think Philly's gonna win the box score. I think
their offensive line is probably the best that the Chiefs
have played perhaps all year, and the difference in two
years ago, Like if you want to really boil down
the two games last year or two years ago, in
this one, the coordinators are different. I think Nick Fangio's
(05:54):
schemes a little better. Kellen Moore and Stichen are kind
of the same. And I think Saquon, Like, that's the difference.
It was Miles Sanders and Kenneth game Well the leading
rushers on the team two years ago. Now it's Saquon
Barkley who was having an MVP caliber season. So I
think that's the difference from two years ago. And that's
the game script. I would imagine this game will.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Kind of mimic.
Speaker 4 (06:15):
Yeah, I'm looking for so much stuff, you know, like
I could throw ten things at you so easily right now,
Like I wonder.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
About this, I wonder about that.
Speaker 4 (06:26):
I'll whittle it down to this. And we've seen this
in past Super Bowls. Who's the random guy that contributes,
you know what I mean? And especially for the Chiefs,
because you just have so many random players that are
capable of contributing. Where you look at the last game
against the Bills, Juju Smith Schuster had two catches for
(06:47):
sixty yards and you're like, what, that's a legitimate contribution
right there. So in this game, is it juju? Is
it Noah Gray or samaj p Ryan out of the
backfield or Justin Watkins DeAndre Hopkins. You go back to
Johan Dotson, receiver.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
For the Eagles.
Speaker 4 (07:05):
He's done nothing in the playoffs, but he does have
a catch for a touchdown against the Packers. Is it
something like that? Does the stat line in the Super
Bowl look like one catch for eleven yards and a
touchdown and that's it, But that one touchdown is impactful.
That's one of the things I wonder about because you'll
see these prop bets.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
We'll get into this knee deep, but some of these it's.
Speaker 4 (07:28):
Like, you know, one and a half catches over under
for Noah Gray over under twelve and a half yards, right,
And it's just like a collection of dudes that have
a similar statline like that. I just wonder which guy
at the end of Super Bowl sun that you're like, wow,
Justin Watkins, huh, Like huh, didn't see that one come in?
(07:49):
Three catches for forty five yards and a touchdown. I
think something like that is going to happen, And I'm
just curious who that contributor is.
Speaker 3 (07:59):
Yeah, and I love you brought it up because there's
so many names that have really been in blazon in
our mind. David Tyree, I mean even like, let's be
honest with each other, Danny Amandola or Julian Edelman, Like,
those are two names of receivers who really weren't you know,
the story of seasons over the course of their careers,
(08:21):
but in the biggest game of their lives or I
should say games in certain cases, because some of these
guys went to multiple Super Bowls in the biggest game,
they were able to make the play that everybody remembers,
or have the moment that everybody really focuses on, or
were a key contributor on the way to or in
a Super Bowl, and it makes all the difference in
(08:41):
the world. And so yeah, it could be one of those.
It could be like a two touchdown day for Noah
Gray and we're just like everybody was thinking Kelsey and
it's like, oh my goodness, it was Hitten in plain sight.
Of course, Kelsey is gonna draw double coverage in the
red zone. Of course it's gonna go to the other
tight end in the two type pack, just like it's
(09:01):
a it's a funny thing to think about now, but
Monday morning we may be thinking, oh yeah, we we
could have seen this coming a mile away and we didn't.
Speaker 5 (09:11):
I mean, if you want to ask me directly right now,
if Juju Smith Schuster has a good game, your boys
going to be very happy.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
And that's eight of the fifty one that bets on
the portfolio.
Speaker 5 (09:24):
Well, I'll just I'll just read him out to you
right now, because you know what we're all about transparency
here on the show. Juju Smith Schuster over one and
a half receptions. I bet that twice, over twelve and
a half receiving yards. I bet that once. Here's a
real juicy one for you. How about Juju Smith Schuster
to have the first Chiefs reception in the game at
twelve to one.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
Oh wow, right, little screen pass.
Speaker 5 (09:45):
I also bet that on the other side for the Eagles,
for Johan Dotson at twenty two to one. Last year
it was Kyle Huschek at twenty four to one. Remember
we hit that one reception. We bet him over half
reception in the game, and he you know, we bet
him at twenty four to one have the first Niners
reception in the game, and he had that little little
spider z why banana play that John Gruden loves on
(10:05):
the first play of the game for San Francisco. And
I think that you're you're one hundred percent right, Brian,
Like that is the reason why it is hard to
bet props on the Chiefs. You have to kind of guess,
and I did do a little guessing here. We're betting
numbers essentially, but you don't know who's gonna be the
guy because Mahomes doesn't care. Neither does Andy Reid. I've
(10:26):
said this multiple times on the show. He would hit
the hot dog vendor if he was open.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
It doesn't matter.
Speaker 5 (10:31):
He doesn't care who he hits as long as he's
open and he's in the offense, he's in the flow
of the offense. I think the guy I'm not betting on,
or at least i'm betting against to have a good
game is DeAndre Hopkins. And I think that's the guy.
If you ask me who's the easy target, like who's
the fish? Right you say that you know or a
(10:51):
rich I think you know who's the fish that you're
kind of trying to take out of the game. Well,
that's one I think is kind of losing a step
with that secondary. I can see Hopkins not having a
whole lot of space on the outside going up against
a Darius Lay type corner. So I think I'm fading
Hopkins in the game. We didn't like Noah Grab too
much either, but I don't know how I feel about
(11:12):
that one. He can be a little if the game
script flips negative, he can be that outlet on on on,
you know, checkdowns, but I am very much bullish on
Juju smith Suster in this game.
Speaker 4 (11:23):
I also wonder, I mean, it's football, I wonder about
injury issues that could pop up during the game, or
if a player is nursing a bit of an issue
that could become bigger during the game. Where it reminds
me of the NFC title game where Saquon Barkley ripped
off a sixty yard touchdown run his first carry, and
(11:44):
then you're seeing him on the bike and then you're
hearing reports of yeah, he's got this calf thing going on.
You're like, the calf thing, okay, all right. He didn't
have many carries in that game. I just wonder if
there's something like that where it's it's not a big
deal going into the game, but flares up, it's a
bit of an issue. Maybe there's no issue whatsoever heading
into the game, and a player does get nicked up,
(12:08):
maybe it's a prominent player. So that's one thing I'm
always curious about, especially in a big game like this,
because you go in thinking, Okay, I anticipate this and that,
and this is the type of game I see and
then all of a sudden, Jalen Hurts gets tackled and
it's like against the Rams. He kind of lands awkwardly,
(12:28):
and now he's got a knee that he's nursing, and
it changes everything. Right, think about the last time these
teams played. You're going into halftime, Chiefs down by ten
and Mahomes got tackled and he's limping off the field
and you're like, oh my gosh, what is happening right now?
But that just the injury issues, any lingering issues going
(12:49):
into the game or non issues that become some I'm
really curious about that if that makes an impact in
the game or not.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
I'm really glad you brought that up, because I would say,
by behind, how the Chiefs are going to defend the
Eagles the very next thing, and these are probably more
grand or vague or overview items that I'm specifically interested in,
but how the Eagles decide to attack the Chiefs defense.
And I think it's gonna tell us a lot about
Saquon Barkley's health, because that has been a really low
(13:20):
key storyline leaning the leaving the championship game, and that
was a great win for the Eagles, but it was
a win where we didn't get a lot of questions answered.
And then the two week by or I should say
the two week weight with the bye week leading up
to this Super Bowl here, we haven't gotten too many updates.
We know he's going to play, we know he's going
to be a full participant. He was a full participant
(13:41):
in that game, and he was on the field plenty
after the issues started to bubble up with the calf.
But calves are tricky, like calf or hamstring strains, or
really any muscle strain. I want you to think about
a rope, like a rope that's under a tremendous amount
of tension, and if I took a knife to the
middle of that rope, what you would see is strings
(14:05):
that make up that rope start to pop. And that's
what a muscle is. A muscle is a bundle of fibers,
just like a rope. And so when you say strain
or sprain a hamstring or a calf, it means that
he's ripped through some of those fibers. So there's a
lot of strain, especially with a strong athlete who changes
(14:25):
direction really fast like Saquon Barkley. On the remaining fibers
in that calf, is it one hundred percent healthy? We
do not have an answer on that. So I think
the way the Eagles attack the Chiefs defense is also
going to tell you a lot about Saquon's health or
at very least how they're trying to preserve him if
they need him for a bigger moment later on in
the game.
Speaker 5 (14:46):
Yeah, and actually Saquan has been vote he said, come
out and said that that he's had situations where he's
been running the ball and he's like, man, I see
that hole, but I'm gonna wait to hit that hole
till the fourth quarter when it really hurts. And he does,
you know, take the takes the more conservative route because
it's always it's like this route that these guys take
and the way that the Eagles block. And I did
(15:06):
a film study last week on the Eagles offensive line.
I mean the Eagles offensive line.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
They're incredible.
Speaker 5 (15:12):
It's over yeah, Rich, I'm preaching to the choir talking
O lines with you here.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
My Latta is just an I mean, like the way
that they move and poll.
Speaker 5 (15:23):
You know, it's it's always a counter or a poll,
and they use their athleticism to the utmost degree and
it's one thing, you know, for an offensive line in
the poll. But when it's Jordan Mylata six eight three
sixty tackle like, it's just it's like a massive human
like how do you how do you get around that?
Speaker 1 (15:43):
And he moves like this. I mean they are I think.
Speaker 5 (15:46):
That Frankly, if you were gonna ask me, like, what's
the storyline? Like the headline Monday morning, it's like the
Eagles offensive line bullying the Chiefs, Like I could see
that being the storyline where Kansas City just can't get
off the field because it's third and three, it's fourth
and one, and then it's tush push and it's just
(16:08):
fifteen plays, seven to eight minute drives, and it just sucks.
That's why we haven't seen the over. I mean, I'm
shocked we haven't seen the total move up. I was
certain we'd see over money for two weeks we'd see
a fifty.
Speaker 1 (16:21):
It's gone down the other way forty and a half.
Speaker 5 (16:24):
So I think that to me, that's the vibe of
the game is physicality and toughness, and I think the
Eagles have that on their side.
Speaker 1 (16:32):
It's just the Chiefs have the great equalizer. I'm so
interested in the total because.
Speaker 4 (16:37):
Really I could see a game like you're saying, Jared,
where Hey, maybe there are some long sustained drives for
both teams right that the Chiefs are nickel and diming
it down the field.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
Yo chunk plays.
Speaker 4 (16:50):
Saquon Barkley is running and running, but it's not like
huge chunk plays left and right.
Speaker 3 (16:56):
Right.
Speaker 4 (16:57):
You could see a lower scoring game at least under
the total. I could see the opposite happening too. I
think there's I think the game is capable easily of
going over as well. It's a fast track. There are
a lot of offensive weapons. You know, I could see
it going over, but neither would really surprise me. Agree,
(17:18):
And that's interesting in a game like this, all about
the game script. Yeah, a lot of it is for sure,
or you can tell we are just a itching for
this game.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
Yeah, we're gonna.
Speaker 4 (17:28):
Pay the week O, We're gonna pace. We got two

Ah, we are off and freaking run in right here,
all right.
Speaker 4 (18:07):
Coming up next, there's a central theme to the Chiefs season.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
It's not the officials.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
It's okay, it's not the calls. Something that tells the
story about their success. We'll dive into that. It's Fox
Sports radios countdown to kickoff. Presented by BEDMGM.

Right, it is countdown, countdown. You know that's it. That's
all you need off. You don't need the first pip Countdown.
So we'll be back nine to noon thing these Saturdays
and Sundays.
Speaker 1 (19:22):
Looking forward to that. Okay, So listen, guys, I have
to I have.
Speaker 4 (19:27):
To come clean with you, okay, okay, because I've I've
thought about this Super Bowl matchup for the last two
weeks and I couldn't get over for the last week
and a half that the Eagles have the better roster. Right,
we would all agree they have more talent top to bottom,
and I was drawn to Philly, but something felt weird.
(19:47):
Every time I got close to maybe betting on Philly,
I'm like, wow, I'm fading Mahomes and Read and Spags
and I'm backing Hurts and Sirianni. And I'm like, that
doesn't feel great either. And then I started thinking more
and more about the matchup, and I thought about one
of the central themes to the chief season. And there's
been so much made about the calls and the refs,
(20:08):
and it's supposedly rigged and yat, it's all this stupid stuff.
But one of the central themes to the Chief's success
is they don't beat themselves, especially in big games, and
their opponents often do. Think about how the season has
played out, where you go back to Week one, Isaiah
Likely's foot is barely out of bounds, and shortly after that,
(20:30):
Lamar isn't throwing to a wide open receiver, He's throwing
to the covered receiver. You know what I mean, Like,
the Chiefs wouldn't do that. Mahomes is throwing to the
open guy.
Speaker 3 (20:40):
You know.
Speaker 6 (20:40):
Think about the Raiders.
Speaker 4 (20:41):
They had it won at Kansas City and they fumble
a shotgun snap the Broncos had it won in Kansas
City and they had a field goal blocked. You know
what I mean, Like time and time and time again,
opponents of the Chiefs find ways to beat themselves and
the Chiefs don't do that. I be shocked if the
Chiefs beat themselves.
Speaker 1 (21:03):
In this matchup.
Speaker 4 (21:04):
I think for the Eagles to win, and they are
capable of winning, they're going to have to beat Kansas City,
and that is easier said than done. As we've seen
throughout these last handful of years with Mahomes in company.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
That's where it.
Speaker 4 (21:19):
Starts for me and why I finally came around to
Kansas City is they don't beat them They don't beat themselves.
And if you're looking between the two teams, who's more
capable of beating themselves? I think it's absolutely Philly.
Speaker 3 (21:32):
I agree. You know, you look at a rock, like
a really sturdy cliff or a mountain, and you say, well,
that's impenetrable, especially when you look at a rock next
to water. You know, if you're just taking things at
surface value, well, yeah, of course the rock is stronger.
(21:52):
But over time, as the waves slam into the sides
of that cliff, you're gonna see an avalanche because the
rock's gonna get undercut and it's gonna become top heavy,
and all of a sudden, you're gonna see this huge
slide into the ocean. The ocean always wins because it's relentless,
it's consistent, and it's powerful. That's the Chiefs. I know
(22:17):
on paper that the Philadelphia Eagles are the more alluring proposition,
But the Chiefs are so insanely consistent. They know what
they're doing, they know how to do it, So anything
that goes up against the ocean will eventually erode away. Right,
It's what we've seen time and time again. And what
(22:38):
it's about is controlling the controllables. The Chiefs, better than
any team in the NFL, have been able to control
the things they can control, not making, you know, the
dumb mistake in the big moment, avoiding fumbling a snap
for a perfect example. Right, those are things center quarterback exchange,
and they seem so fundamental and they seem like things
(22:59):
you can over look. But the best teams don't. The
best teams emphasize those things heading into the biggest games
of their season. And that's the sort of coaching that
the Chiefs are receiving from Andy Reid, There's no question
about it. And then you put the bow on it.
They have a special talented quarterback which you absolutely need
to win in this league at any level of consistency.
(23:21):
With Patrick Mahomes. It is a recipe for success. And
the Chiefs they've been in that kitchen cooking that recipe
for a long time together.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
Now, yeah, I think the Eagles have the better roster.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
I agree.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
I don't think it's.
Speaker 5 (23:33):
Close, frankly, especially its skill positions. I mean, just look
at the receiver, running back, tight end. I mean it's
not close. But there's the great equalizer God at quarterback
that kind of balances that out a little bit.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
If you go back and look at the one game
the Chiefs lost.
Speaker 5 (23:53):
This year, and I know they lost too, but the
second one was not really one that we need to
consider because it was without starters and they got shut
out in a game where I needed them to score
three points to hit an over. Still, that's always still
not bitter that they lost the game thirty eight nothing
that I bet over forty on.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
Not bitter at all.
Speaker 5 (24:17):
The game against Buffalo earlier this year, two turnovers, Mahomes
started the game with a pick, ended the game with
a pick. Like that, that's when the Chiefs do beat themselves,
it looks a little clunky. They didn't look great in
that game. Mahomes two for under two hundred yards, barely
ran it for eighty total in the game. Total rushing
(24:38):
yards in a football game, seventeen carries for seventy eight yards.
They were chasing buffalo the whole night. Mahomes attempted thirty
three passes. Again, attempted thirty three passes less than two
hundred yards.
Speaker 1 (24:52):
Like when they are mortal, they look very mortal, And
I think the Eagle actually have been maybe the cleaner
football team this season.
Speaker 5 (25:05):
I know they've looked at times a little clunky, but
I think the Eagles' highest gear is better than any
octane the Chiefs can get to offensively. I think the
clutch factor balances that out a little bit. But let's
be honest, if the Eagles play their best game, their
best game, no turnovers, no mistakes, they're gonna win this
(25:28):
right Like, I think I feel confident saying that, actually,
but I don't know if they are going to play
their best game because in the big moments, the Chiefs
seem to always find a different gear. They could figure
I don't know how, but they always figure out a way.
And that's what makes this game. That's why the lines
(25:49):
of pick them. That's why this game is very, very
tough to predict, because I think at their best in
a vacuum, Philly is better and they will win. But
for some reason, the lights get really bright sometimes and
Mahomes doesn't squinty. Maybe the Chiefs blink tomorrow night. But
if they don't blink, this one really is a coin flip.
Speaker 4 (26:12):
You know what's funny about an NFL season is we
all say the same things, where man, it's.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
Over already, how can that be? It went by so fast?
Speaker 4 (26:22):
And then I just look at the Eagles season and
Week two they hosted the Falcons, and you'll remember the Eagles,
they had the ball and they threw a little pass
to Saquon Barkley and he dropped it. The game is
over if he catches that pass. And he didn't catch it,
(26:43):
and the next thing you know, Kirk Cousins is a
hot knife through butter on the road in Philly and
the Falcons Paul went out twenty two to twenty one.
That feels like three years ago, like, how can that
still be this season? It seems like ancient hit history.
But that was one of those games where it's the
definition of beating yourself. It turned into why aren't you
(27:06):
running the ball? And I said, why aren't you catching
the ball?
Speaker 3 (27:09):
Like that?
Speaker 4 (27:10):
Saque's got to come up with that. He's the first
one that would tell you the same thing. Right, you
go back to the Super Bowl two years ago, Jalen
Hurts played a great game, but just in the middle
of all this brilliant play was a fumble that was
picked up and ran in for six points, you know,
like a scoop six if you will. That's the type
of stuff I'm talking about. Is look at the playoffs
(27:33):
with the Chiefs. I don't know how many times I'm
watching the Chiefs play and I'm like, the Chiefs wouldn't
do that. The Chiefs wouldn't that right? The opening kickoff
for the Houston Texans, guys throwing his helmet, he's pushing
a special teams coach like this is made fumbled the
open That's right, That's that's true too. You also think
(27:54):
the Texans against the Chiefs, it's fourth and ten, play
clock is running out, Well.
Speaker 6 (28:00):
Let's get the snap off. It's a sack.
Speaker 4 (28:01):
You're like, the Chiefs would never do something like that,
even against the Bills. It's fourth and five, the Bills
get caught with their pants down with an all out
Chiefs blitz.
Speaker 6 (28:12):
You know, when would you see the.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
Chiefs do that?
Speaker 4 (28:15):
Would you see Mahomes just like, oh my gosh, oh
we didn't know this blitz was coming, you know what
I mean? Like the Chiefs have the screws tightened when
it comes to all of that stuff. I'm not saying
they don't make mistakes, but they rarely make the big
mistake and their opponents often do you see it time
and time again this season.
Speaker 3 (28:34):
I remember as a rookie with the New England Patriots.
Now this is ages and ages ago, right, two thousand
and nine was zero was drafted. But one of the
like I guess you could call it hazing things that
they did to the rookies is one of the practices
we showed up to during training camp. The groundskeepers and
(28:56):
the equipment managers were hosing down this back corner of
the practice field and like I mean, there was so
much attention being paid to this one patch of grass.
It was really weird actually, right, you know, you just assume,
I don't know, something went wrong, a sprinkler burst, you know,
there was flood whatever in that one corner of the field,
(29:17):
but we didn't pay much mind. While we're going through
our pre practice warm up and stretching routine. And then
all of a sudden, Belichick blows to whistle and he
goes rookies get over to the back corner of the field,
the same corner I was just talking about. So we
all sprint over there and it turns into a mud
slide session where all the rookies are taking turns sliding
(29:41):
on their bellies through this corner of the practice field.
And at first you're like nervous and like what are
we doing? Like why are we doing? We're again hosed
down by vets and stuff, like some of the veterans
where getting a hold of the hoses, and like it
turned into like almost like a slipping slide party. Right,
You're flying through headfirst, You're sliding all over the place.
(30:01):
We're soaking wet. I mean from the inside of your helmet,
you got grass all piled up in it. You your
cleats are so wet as you're taking steps, water shooting
out of the lace holes, right, stuff like that. And
then we had a practice for like two or three hours,
right Belichick. I remember at one point goes, it's pretty
(30:22):
uncomfortable playing soaking wet, huh, And we're like, yeah, obviously,
nobody even answer. It's a rhetorical question. He goes, well,
guess what, Sometimes you're gonna have to play soaking wet
because sometimes it's raining. And it was one of those
things where it's like, of course everybody knows that, but
(30:43):
it indoctrinates you to how much detail there's going to
be in this program. Because every time there was weather
in the forecast, guess what we did during that week.
We did wet ball drill. Every single football was soaked.
All the centers got sprayed down with water at one
point or another. We practice quarterback center exchange over and
(31:05):
over and over again to make sure that the ball
handling was going to be perfect in those moments. So
everything you just said is exactly why the Chiefs are
so good, because they're detail oriented. They're paying attention to
the things that matter to the most, holding on to
the football, making sure quarterback center exchange is perfect, making
(31:26):
sure all the handoffs happen smoothly, making sure that the
ball handling with the receivers, with the quarterback, with the
running back are perfect, making sure that kickoff returners and
punt returners are perfect. Long snappers and short snappers and
holders and kickers and punters. Anybody who's going to be
holding the football understands that when you have that ball
(31:47):
in your hand, you're holding the hopes and dreams of
every single person in the franchise. And that is how
that's how explicit it was explained to us in New England.
I guarantee those conversas are happening with Andy Reid and
the Chiefs because that's it. That's the key to everything,
is that ball. And so how do you avoid making
(32:08):
the mistake? You practice the fundamentals that get you that consistency.
And there's so many teams that make the mistake of
overlooking it because they're worried about the competition. But if
you take care of your own house, you don't have
to worry as much about the competition.
Speaker 5 (32:24):
Man, I'm so glad you told that story, because that
stories why the Chiefs win these games. It's not the
refs people, it's not Taylor Swift.
Speaker 3 (32:34):
It's not.
Speaker 5 (32:35):
That's not why the Chiefs are winning. That's not why
they are on the cusp of history. It's because of
the story that Rich just told. Because yes, Andy Reid
is that good of a coach. He is just right
on par with Bill Belichick.
Speaker 3 (32:50):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (32:50):
And you hear the stories of the past years from
New England. When the referees would come to town in
the preseason, the team that would ask them the most
questions would be the Patriots.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
They were the most prepared. That's who gets the lucky
breaks in the games.
Speaker 7 (33:10):
Right.
Speaker 5 (33:11):
What's the saying preparations where luck meets opportunity, or what
luck means where preparation meets opportunity wherever, whatever cliche.
Speaker 1 (33:19):
You want to use, That's why the Chiefs win. Guys
and girls, it's not the refs. They're more prepared.
Speaker 5 (33:27):
I will say this, going back to Beno's original point,
the two most random results of the year, or at
least numbers of the year, one.
Speaker 1 (33:34):
Of them has to be that Falcons Eagles result.
Speaker 5 (33:37):
The other one, how about the next week were the Eagles,
who are about to be basically a pick them. I
think they're gonna close a favorite. We'll talk about the
number later with Seamus. They were a two and a
half point dog the next week in New Orleans.
Speaker 1 (33:51):
Against the Saints. How about that come a long way
since then?
Speaker 4 (33:55):
Long season, Man, long season. I just picture if Andy
Reid does the same thing as Belichick. Wouldn't that be fun?
Speaker 1 (34:03):
It's pretty uncomfortable when you're soaking wet.
Speaker 5 (34:06):
Right now, he makes him before he goes out there.
Speaker 4 (34:09):
Probably we got Rich Hernberger, Penn State All American, Jared
Smith FSR betting analyst. I'm Brian no coming up next
to Parlay Platter. We'll have a special theme. Sounds like
it's big game hunting.
Speaker 1 (34:23):
Just this is a big one.
Speaker 5 (34:25):
Right, This is this is This is the biggest odds
we've ever given out on the show.
Speaker 4 (34:30):
It so much it's almost as if Jared hit a
couple of long shot bits this week.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
Almost, you know. Now I'm getting frivolous with hey, and
this might hit as well, so we'll share it with you.
Speaker 4 (34:43):

Speaker 6 (35:27):
All right, let's do this.
Speaker 2 (35:29):
Check this out our late letter.
Speaker 4 (35:32):
All right, Jared hit his Coach of the Year bet yeah,
nice little.
Speaker 1 (35:39):
Cash right there. He hit his Offensive Player of.
Speaker 4 (35:42):
The Year bet yeah, really good cash. So what does
Jared do? As he said, you know, let me put
this in my savings account. No, no, no, no, no,
Let's go a long shot again.
Speaker 3 (35:53):
Baby.
Speaker 1 (35:53):
What do you have for is Jared?
Speaker 5 (35:55):
We're taking a shot today, Baby, We're taking a shot.
Speaker 1 (35:58):
This is a terrible bet it all.
Speaker 5 (36:01):
It's a disgustingly gross, juicy, delicious wager. But we're gonna
have some fun because again it's our last parlay platter
of the football season.
Speaker 1 (36:10):
We're gonna do four legs.
Speaker 5 (36:12):
Cross sports in the futures market, which means they're extra juicy.
We'll start with the Super Bowl. Saquon Barkley to win
the MVP. You want to ask me what the difference
is between this game and two years ago. That's the
difference right there. I think the path to victory for
Philly much more resembles a Saquon path than a Jalen
Hurts path. Obviously, something weird could happen, special teams touch
(36:34):
on something fluky.
Speaker 1 (36:35):
Malcolm Butler right kind of vibe.
Speaker 5 (36:37):
But I think the most likely path to an Eagles
win is a Saquon MVP path.
Speaker 1 (36:42):
So I'll give you Saquon plus two forty to win MVP.
Speaker 5 (36:45):
Let's go to the college basketball Hardwood Duke to win
the Natty. Guys, this duke team is absolutely locked in.
They are the most talented, they're the biggest. I don't
know if they're gonna win the March Madness thing because
that that's a fluky tournament, but they're definitely gonna to
be a one seed. So I'll take him at four
to one. We'll throw him in the parlay with Scotty
Scheffler to win the Masters. I mean again, he's had
(37:08):
four straight top twenties. Two wins in that stretch. The
dude is an absolute machine. He's four to one to
win the Masters. And we'll wrap it up this summer
with the Boston Celtics to repeat as NBA champions. The
biggest reason there is the Eastern Conference is a joke,
and I think they're gonna cake walk to the finals
again just like last year. And if we make it
to this point and we have Boston in the finals,
(37:30):
who knows what will happen in the Western Conference. But
we can make some money off this ticket. We'll worry
about that in June. But there you go, Saquon Duke,
Scottie Scheffler, Boston Celtics.
Speaker 3 (37:40):
The price on this parlay, I kid you not.
Speaker 5 (37:43):
Two seventy five to one. Wow, the biggest one we've
ever given off on this show. Two seventy five to one,
which leg ruins it guys, probably the first one, right.
Speaker 3 (37:53):
Well, it could it could be. It could be you
survive Super Bowl Sunday all of a sudden, Luca out
of the.
Speaker 1 (38:00):
West, Oh no, no, not.
Speaker 3 (38:04):
Look off the top rope, finally playing Robin to a
decent Batman. Yeah, I don't know. I love these long
shot bets because any one of these individual bets makes sense, right, Sakuan,
he could, you could see him ruin the Chiefs party, Duke,
(38:25):
I mean, just a perennial tournament breaks. You have Scottie Sheffl,
who's playing amazing golf at this point in his career.
In the Celtics. I mean, the Celtics are the best
built basketball team in the NBA right now, So any
one of those bets on its own makes sense. You've
just paired four of them.
Speaker 4 (38:45):
You know, this is what I think of, Jared. You
know what I hate about betting? Okay, mini soapbox right here.
If I'm playing craps, you'll love this charity and I'm
on the pass line.
Speaker 1 (38:57):
Gosh, I hate.
Speaker 4 (38:58):
When it's craps immediately, if it's a two, three or twelve.
Speaker 1 (39:02):
The worst, it's so bad. I got to play a
horn bet.
Speaker 4 (39:05):
Yeah, well that it's the first thought of man if
I was just on a You know what I hate
about sports betting is if my parlay would have been
correct in reverse.
Speaker 1 (39:19):
You know what I mean, if I've.
Speaker 4 (39:20):
Got a three or four legger, I'm oh for three
or oh for four, and it would have.
Speaker 3 (39:25):
Been corrected Oh yeah, yeah, the.
Speaker 1 (39:32):
That's whatever, fun story.
Speaker 4 (39:33):
Yeah, this sounds like I'm the old Chappelle hater ball skit.
Speaker 1 (39:39):
You know, listen, he's four.
Speaker 6 (39:42):
I see the thinking in all of them. Yeah, there's
a better shot that.
Speaker 1 (39:46):
None of them hit. All of them hit right, and
we'll keep track of it.
Speaker 3 (39:50):
We'll keep track of it.
Speaker 1 (39:51):
We'll call back to it later.
Speaker 3 (39:52):
I love it. I love it so much.
Speaker 4 (39:55):
But that's that's it's a fun bet, right. There's a
reason it's two seventy five to one.
Speaker 5 (40:00):
I like the futures bets in parlays because it gives
you time to adjust later if you want to come
back on a different side. Yeah, Like, imagine we get like,
let's say we get the first three legs and we
get to the Celtics in the NBA Finals. Well, once
we get to June, we could do whatever we want.
We've got this great ticket in our back pocket. That's
why I like spacing it out over time to give
(40:20):
you a.
Speaker 1 (40:20):
Little more bang for your bucket.
Speaker 4 (40:22):
Man, and you get the cash out devil on your shoulders.
Oh right, Mark, Mason and Duke come through and Scotti
Scheffler has a lead going into today.
Speaker 1 (40:32):
No cash out it's no cash out, cash out due
all right, coming up next.
Speaker 4 (40:36):
There's a huge difference between one day and today. Oh,
good morning, everybody, welcome in here as we get you
all set for Super Bowl Sunday. I've seen a few
things this week. I'm sure you guys have also, where
there might be some columns put together. They there might
be a hot take on radio or TV talking about, Hey,
(40:59):
if Mahomes wins another super Bowl, is the debate over
is he the goat? And I'm like, uh no, no,
would be the end. Like, here's the thing, this is
a pre debate, you know, because there's a chance the
Chiefs don't even win the Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (41:18):
There's at least a chance.
Speaker 4 (41:20):
And if they don't win, obviously no one's saying he's
the goat already. If he does win, yes, he checks
a box that nobody else, including Tom Brady checked, which
is three p Right, winning three straight Super Bowls would
be a huge accomplishment for Mahomes, But I mean, come on,
(41:41):
he'd still need three more rings to have the same
amount as Brady.
Speaker 6 (41:47):
Brady would still have all the individual.
Speaker 4 (41:49):
Accolades, all the career passing yards and touchdowns, and the
head to head wins in the Super Bowl and the
AFC title game. Like, I think a lot of people
fall into the trap of projecting what might come in
the next ten plus years, however long Mahomes plays, compared
(42:10):
to if Mahomes literally just walked away after tomorrow.
Speaker 6 (42:14):
Like, let's just say.
Speaker 4 (42:15):
Mahomes wins the Super Bowl, they three pete and Mahomes says,
this is it.
Speaker 1 (42:19):
I'm retired. Who in their right.
Speaker 6 (42:21):
Mind is saying Mahomes is the goat.
Speaker 4 (42:25):
Mahomes had a better career, was a better overall player
when Britty was around for over two decades, Right, who
get you more? Like it's obviously Brady at this stage.
I think one day, if Mahomes wins tomorrow, he could
Absolutely he's more than capable of going down as the goat.
But there's a big difference between he's the goat right
(42:45):
now and he's on the fast track to one day
becoming the goat.
Speaker 1 (42:49):
There's a big difference between the two.
Speaker 3 (42:52):
Yeah, there's such a debate when it comes to, you know,
longevity and how important that is in terms of greatness.
You know, shorter careers although impactful Patrick Willis or Barry
Sanders or Calvin Johnson. When you're having the conversation about
Hall of Fame or just greatness overall, how does longevity
(43:14):
factor in? And also on the opposite, opposite side, you know,
sometimes you know, players will be considered stat compilers because
of the length of time that they've played. You know,
Matthew Stafford until his Super Bowl victory, you know, he
was kind of you know, is he really I mean,
those are Hall of Fame numbers, but I mean he
(43:35):
played in Detroit, he didn't win in the postseason. Are
we really gonna put him in that rarefied conversation? And
then he goes to La wins his Super Bowl and
it feels like, well, maybe he does have an argument
for Hall of Fame. Now longevity matters to me. That
is a brutal sport at any position, maybe outside of kicker, punter.
I get it. But like when you are subjecting yourself
(43:57):
to the day in, day day out rigor of being
an NFL football player, you are going to take some abuse, man.
And so the fact that Brady was able to do
it into his forties at a high level, I mean,
that is part of the conversation, and it's very ethereal.
The debate is very subjective, but part of the conversation
(44:19):
or the argument for Brady being the greatest of all
time because he was able to sustain. Now, I'm not
saying that if Mahomes wins three Super Bowls in a row,
it doesn't take steps toward being considered the greatest of
all time. It absolutely does, and I think those are
larger steps than I think we actually realize right now,
(44:41):
because it's a big deal. But he is not even
close to being considered the greatest of all time. And
that's no slight to Mahomes. That's just how far of
a distance Brady has created with the insane accomplishments of
his very long, d accomplished career.
Speaker 1 (45:02):
You know what this reminds me of.
Speaker 5 (45:03):
Got a text from Brian on Monday about an NBA
live bet where he bet Oklahoma City's team total over
one twenty seven and a half early in the game. Man, oh,
I only needed twelve points in the fourth quarter and
they scored niney nine.
Speaker 1 (45:22):
Oh my god.
Speaker 5 (45:24):
That's Mahomes right now. If he stays on this path, great,
he is the greatest of all time. If he plays
to age forty and he wins a Super Bowl, you
know in that upper echelon age group. Let's say he
wins multiple super Bowls after age thirty five, and he
gets to five or six and he wins the three.
Speaker 1 (45:43):
Pet like he's on the path.
Speaker 5 (45:45):
Yes, the path is right there, but you might score
nine points in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 4 (45:51):
You never know, Yes, you never know. I think that's
the perfect way to explain it. And oh gosh, that
was just a disgusting beat. I'm sorry to bring that out,
but it felt very after po. It really is Oklahoma City.
They scored almost forty points in the first quarters, say
living box score. I was looking at it right now.
(46:12):
Also in the third quarter, I'm like, I need twelve.
I wasn't even watching already.
Speaker 1 (46:17):
Thirty nine, thirty nine, thirty eight.
Speaker 4 (46:19):
And then nine because somebody cashed. Were good, And then
I saw I looked. I'm like, wait a minute, they're
at one twenty five with four minutes to go.
Speaker 3 (46:29):
Those still couldn't get the last three Are those games
you turn off? You go all right, I can't get sleep, ye,
I don't need to watch the fourth quarter, And then
you're reading the box score the next day You're like, no, no,
how could this be.
Speaker 1 (46:41):
Wouldn't that be the surprise.
Speaker 5 (46:43):
Let's say Mahomes wins tomorrow three pete and then like
the last five years of his career, he he just
like goes off of Russell Wilson, Kirk Cousins, Cliff.
Speaker 1 (46:52):
Right, that would be a shock, but it could happen.
Speaker 4 (46:56):
Right, And think about Brady where the ten years where
you didn't win a Super Bowl that it was a
big surprise. Yeah, and then he rallied later on. But
that's the thing think about Mahomes. What's different between Mahomes
and Brady is Belichick was there throughout his entire career
in New England, and we saw Brady was more than
(47:16):
just Belichick, right, we saw that in Tampa. But Andy Reid,
how many more years is he going to be coaching? Right, Spags?
How many more years is he going to be coaching?
Travis Kelce? How many years is he going to be playing?
I still fully expect Mahomes to be successful with the
new coaching staff, with new teammates. He's the constant, but
(47:38):
there are a lot of there's a lot of talent
around him coaching wise, player wise, and that's going to
change throughout the years to come. So who knows what
that's going to look like and it could change. But
believe me, if Mahomes wins another super Bowl tomorrow, this
will be a common talking point and there will be
(47:58):
many people who can consider him the goat already. I'm
like the end of the movie Gladiator, Yeah, the first one. Yeah,
where the guy goes not yet, nots yet, not yet.
That's how I feel about my home. He's go right
on track, right on track. If he was a home
run in or he'd be on pace to hit eighty
five home runs in a single season. But oftentimes what
(48:20):
you're on pace to do is different than what you
eventually do. It's something to keep in mind.
Speaker 3 (48:26):
So I remember when I was a kid, huge boxing fan,
huge boxing fan, because the heavyweight class was insane, I mean,
and Mike Tyson was obviously the champ. For most of
my youth, Mike Tyson had a huge falling off and
there was a point where Iron Mike was invincible. Everybody
(48:47):
knew when he walked into the ring and he was
wearing that towel with the neck hole cut out of it,
and he had that pit bowl glare in his eyes
where you whoever was in front of him was just
red meat. You're like, oh my goodness, this is going
to be a slaughter, And it usually was until it
(49:09):
wasn't until all of a sudden you started to see cracks.
The Buster Douglas fight. You know, Lennox Lewis waited to poach.
You know, well, actually, I don't even I don't want
to say anything bad about Lennox Lewis. I like him.
I've met him, see, I've we spent some time together
and we talked about his fight with Tyson. And there's
a lot of other things in politics that get in
the way. But like, but here's the thing about Mike.
(49:32):
He hit a point in his career where, at the height,
I mean, everything was going his way, things started falling apart.
Now I'm not saying, like, you know, Patrick Mahomes, his
social life or personal life or familiar life or any
of those things are going to have an outstanding effect
on him like it did for Mike. I'm not saying.
(49:53):
But what I am saying is We've seen athletes get
to a certain point and all of a sudden, there
is an a pex there. There is you know, that
wave crests and then it crashes, And for some it
happens much later in their journey. For others, you know,
it happens at the peak of their success and you
just don't know. And so getting you know, eight steps
(50:16):
down the road in front of ourselves saying, oh my god, Well,
if he wins three in a row, of course he's
the go or I mean, Okay, maybe I spoke too soon,
but he will be It's like, well, hey, got a second,
are we just deleting what we just witnessed. I mean,
we've gone there hasn't been a generation gap. We've gone
from the Tom Brady era seamlessly into the Patrick Mahomes era.
(50:38):
It seems like we're we're hitting backspace too quickly on
the era we just left, I mean Tom Brady until
until a lot more work is done by Mahomes. Will
will carry that mantle. It will be impressive. Though. If
he wins this super Bowl three in a row is
something nobody has ever done, not even Brady, and so
(51:01):
I'm not taking anything away from the Homes, but he's
got a lot of work to do to catch the
greatest of all time.
Speaker 1 (51:06):
I mean Brady beat him in a Super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (51:08):
Yeah, I mean that's the the and that that game
was not close not even in the slightest bit. So
that right there is enough for me to still give
the nod to Tom. Besides the legacy, which I think
is still ahead of where Mahomes is in terms of
the longevity, and I agree the long jet, I mean,
(51:29):
the the way that the sport is played. I think
longevity matters more in a sport like football than it
does in a sport like baseball, just because it's it's
just it's it's such a physical sport and it just
it takes its toll on these guys and they lose
their edge, and it's it's not a sport. It's not
a sport that is favorable to the player if they're
losing their edge production wise, the contracts are not guaranteed,
(51:52):
and these teams the NFL stands for not for long.
I mean, that is the most cliche, the most used
cliche in the sport. I think the biggest question I
have spinning it forward, is he going to stay on
the Chiefs, Like that's the biggest question, because you know
Tom switched teams. Andy Reid maybe is the canary and
(52:12):
the coal mine of when Patrick might think about moving on.
I mean, I think obviously he doesn't want to, but
the money and the contracts and everything that takes place
around the team can be tough to manage sometimes, you know.
And I don't think the Patriots wanted to move on
from Tom, but I mean it just kind of happened
naturally as Tom moved on. I think that's the bigger
(52:33):
question because right now I can't picture him playing for
anyone else Patrick, But I couldn't picture Tom playing for
anyone else, and all of a sudden he was in Tampa.
Speaker 1 (52:41):
So I think that's the more interesting questions we get
up there in age for Patrick. Yeah, no, it's true.
Speaker 4 (52:47):
I wonder if it's more of like a Steph Curry
type thing right where they're still building around Mahomes. Maybe
Mahomes is loyal to the area. He doesn't want to
go somewhere else.
Speaker 1 (52:58):
I think that.
Speaker 4 (53:00):
But to your point, you never know where things are,
never know, you know, Like, he's unbelievable and he's highly decorated.
He would be a four time champ before age thirty.
That's insane. Yeah, and the future is very very bright.
But I think a lot of people would just be assuming, Yeah, youah,
(53:22):
four or five more super Bowls?
Speaker 3 (53:26):
Yeah, Yeah, that's all.
Speaker 1 (53:28):
You can't assume that, right, That's something that crazy right there.
Speaker 3 (53:35):
And it also takes so many other things variables falling
into place for a quarterback to even play in a
super Bowl. I mean, think about your You're a key
injury away on the defense, a side of the ball
that you don't even play on. Missing a super Bowl
so so much has Don't get me wrong, Mahomes is great.
Andy Reid's a wonderful coach. That team is built well,
(53:57):
they have great coordinators, all the things. But there's a
sufficient amount of luck involved into getting to the super Bowl,
let alone winning it. So yeah, let's not get over
our skis here. Patrick Mahomes is great. He is great.
He's not the greatest of all.
Speaker 4 (54:13):
Time, not yet, not yet, right right right, not yet,
not yet, not yet. We play this game, the what
if game, real fast is you know, what what if
the Chiefs aren't the one seed? You know, it's a
legitimate what if the Raiders don't fumble a shotgun snap
or the Broncos kick a field goal on the road
(54:33):
in Kansas City or whatever happens, and the Chiefs find
themselves as a two seed and they have to play
an extra playoff game, and maybe they don't have the
same amount of gas in the tank for the AFC
title game.
Speaker 1 (54:44):
Maybe that's on the road.
Speaker 4 (54:46):
Maybe this, maybe that there are a lot of legitimate
what ifs that could have led to Kansas City not
even being in the game tomorrow. Right, So it's just
something to keep in mind going forward. We've got Rich Hornberger,

Follow the money, real good money.
Speaker 1 (56:15):
All right.
Speaker 4 (56:15):
Like to welcome in Seamus McGee, team lead of Sports
Trading at bet MGM. Good morning to you, Seamus. Super
Bowl fifty nine is on the brain. What surprises you more?
Is it the side like Chiefs minus one and a half?
Speaker 3 (56:30):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (56:30):
Maybe it's surprising to you for whatever reason, or the
total forty eight and a half. It seems like there
are a lot of people that have anticipated the line
to move up and it hasn't. It's moved down a bit,
which has surprised you. More the side or the total.
Speaker 7 (56:46):
Yeah, it's gonna be back here. The total seemed high
to me when it opened. Honestly, these are two best
defenses in football, and the move rower from the opener
hasn't shocked me at all. I think it should still
be lower. If I had to take a side, I
lean the under here in general, So I think the
being the number over forty five I think surprise me. Honestly.
Speaker 5 (57:09):
Yeah, and you know you'd think that the public wants
to bet the over. I did see, you know, the splits.
We still have another twenty four or so hours before
the game, so I'm assuming you'll get a lot more handle.
In fact, I would be willing to bet the next
thirty six hours or so, probably be the heaviest. It
looks like about sixty ish or so percent of the
bets aren't the over.
Speaker 1 (57:29):
No surprise there.
Speaker 5 (57:31):
Handle seems pretty split, or at least the bet count
seems pretty split on the side. But from what I'm
hearing Seamus, the Eagles might close the favorite, and I
know the difference between a plus one and a minus
one is not a huge probability shift. But if the
Eagles do close a favorite, that I think that might
surprise some people.
Speaker 7 (57:51):
It would surprise me as well. I don't see this
crossing zero honestly, I think. I mean, I'm personally at
least an anticipating a lot of Chiefs money to come
in on Sunday. Whether it's sharp or public, who knows,
but I think a lot of the money on the
Chiefs is going to come in tomorrow. It's just very
(58:13):
weird right now because a lot of money has come
in on the Eagles, and we're at a great spot
with the Eagles on the Future's book. They're a huge
winner for us, so we're find writing Eagles. That's right now,
Chiefs money. You look at the last legs of parlays
that we anticipate, like with cash, if the Chiefs win,
lots of futures tickets that have the Chiefs to close
(58:33):
out of parlays there. So that's not particularly pretty for
the book here. But I also could expect a pretty
balanced book comes Sunday, which would be nice. So we'll
see where the money lands. There's a lot of money
to come in Sunday, so we'll say.
Speaker 3 (58:47):
I'm sure we'll get into some of the quote unquote
real props here with you Seamus. But in the interim,
because I think a lot of people are interested, what
are some of the more fun, goofy Super Bowl related
props that you're interested in? National anthem timing or coin flip?
Are there any of those that you actually feel you
(59:08):
could steal an edge on or do you suggest stay
away from those altogether?
Speaker 7 (59:13):
If I have to go on social media and here
someone has an eggs on the coin call, oh.
Speaker 3 (59:19):
We heard it this, we we heard it. Well, well, hey, Seamus,
I already gave away a huge clue. Tails tails, seamous
tails in a dome. I mean it never fails.
Speaker 2 (59:31):
In a dome.
Speaker 7 (59:32):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean I think the one of
the classic ones is what color will the gatorade?
Speaker 3 (59:39):
Ben?
Speaker 7 (59:39):
Oh yeah, yellow, green, blind, whichever way you call that
flavor of gatorade that was around like plus two point
fifty when the market opened. It's already down to minus
one sixty five. I tell people a lot of times
you lost the way the money comes into that market,
you know, by Sunday before you go what color the
Gatorade's going to day?
Speaker 1 (59:59):
So funny, Seamus.
Speaker 4 (01:00:01):
I'm just curious how you generally feel the game will
play out right, Like you've explained you expect a little
bit of a lower scoring game. If you build off
of that, how do you sort of see it slowing?
Speaker 1 (01:00:15):
Do you see a little bit more punning than normal?
Speaker 4 (01:00:17):
You see a little bit more defense than some people anticipate.
Speaker 1 (01:00:21):
What do you see in this one? Potentially?
Speaker 7 (01:00:24):
I think it's going to be lower scoring, Like I
could see like a seventeen to thirteen final at seventeen
fourteen something like that. I think these are the two
best defenses in football. I could see some field goals
in this game, and generally, like these types of games,
I feel like it also helps that this is what
the business needs as well. It's just a lower scoring
(01:00:46):
game in general. So these were foo to bet on
stuff like that when knowing that the book needs a
lower scoring game as well. But I just feel like
it's going to be a lot. It's to be very
tense first half specifically, and then maybe towards the end
of the beginning you might see it open up a
little bit with teams starting to press. But I just
think these details are so good.
Speaker 5 (01:01:07):
Yeah, very popular wagers for the set, and this is
one that the pros make every year. It's always a
higher odds is the second half to have more points
than the first, and it's just that frenzied nature of
the second half and the first half, especially the first
quarter tends to be pretty slow. In the Super Bowls,
I saw some really weird props. Again, your data insights
(01:01:28):
people do a great job sending this stuff out so
we know before we do the show Saturday mornings, like
we're people betting. I saw someone put ten dollars on
Landon Dickerson to win Super Bowl MVP at a thousand
to one. We saw some more reasonable super Bowl MVP
bets Dallas God or Travis Kelcey that are a little
bit more in the realm of possibility. Has there been
a very I mean, I can't think of one weirder
(01:01:50):
than Landon Dickerson to win Super Bowl MVP Shamus. But
maybe you've got another weird, quirky bet that somebody made
that's kind of sitting out there in the universe.
Speaker 7 (01:01:59):
No kicker ever wins Super Bowl. As Tony Soprano would say,
it's going to be a rainy night Winhurst for the book,
it's every year and it's funny, like we always talk
about it at work. What do you think has to
happen for the kicker to win subl MVP. We're talking
like an eighteen to fifteen game with like fix the
(01:02:21):
all six field goals forty five plus in a game winner.
It's so there's that Channis Kelsey is a big liability
for a Super Bowl MVP, which is really a shocker.
But yeah, you have your Cooper de Jeans in there.
He stands out big times. There's a lot of you know,
there's over a thousand markets you can bet on at
(01:02:42):
BENMGM right now, so there's always going to be a
crazy bet we find in here.
Speaker 3 (01:02:48):
Is there a player prop that you've fallen in love with?
You know? It just seems like, you know, I just
based on how you feel about the game. Maybe low
scoring you could see I don't know, Saquon Carry's going
way over or yeah, I mean, is there just anything
that's sticking out to you? Like I can't keep my
hands off this one.
Speaker 7 (01:03:08):
Listen, I doing this. This is my six year booking
games here at BETMGM, and even I fall victim of
just you know, falling into deep with a lot of
these props, but one that I really liked. I have
Nick Bolton under eight and a half tackles and assists.
It's down to seven and a half now, which I
(01:03:29):
think could be good at some plus money. I think
they're going to rotate him a lot. I think they're
going to try to rotate a lot of guys into
stop Saquon. And oddly enough, I haven't also to intercept
the pass in this game. So it should be interesting
to watch Nick Bolton on someday for me.
Speaker 4 (01:03:44):
Okay, do you go Nick Bolton for the Shamus Special?
Are you taking us somewhere else here, seamuss.
Speaker 7 (01:03:50):
I couldn't possibly come on here and give out a
Super Bowl pick obviously. My favorite, My favorite prop every
year is that a punt wheel. One punt will end
up a touchback. It's always plus money. Look at a
football in shape. It's a stupid shape ball and a
stupid shape sport. It's gonna go into the enda.
Speaker 3 (01:04:08):
At some point.
Speaker 4 (01:04:11):
So would you make two individual bets on each punter
or are you just.
Speaker 1 (01:04:15):
Betting on one collective touchback?
Speaker 7 (01:04:18):
If you shop around a book, small price up any
punt to be to knowing the handel for a touchback.
I prefer that than a specific kicker. But we're looking
for the shame, especially a Jackson State is a twenty
and a half point favorite hauling its MISSISIPI Valley State.
I think it's not to be the biggest most points
they've weighed in a while. So we're gonna lay twenty
(01:04:40):
and a half point with Jackson State basketball today.
Speaker 1 (01:04:43):
Shout out coach Brown.
Speaker 4 (01:04:44):
Oh wow wow, yeah, I will see if that cash
is shame, Miss sweet. We do appreciate your efforts as
always and enjoy Super Bowl Sunday.
Speaker 3 (01:04:54):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:04:54):
Always good to hang with you.
Speaker 7 (01:04:56):
Thanks for having me, guys, go ahead, enjoy the game.
Speaker 3 (01:04:58):
Love you too. There.
Speaker 4 (01:04:59):
He is Seamus McGee, teen, lead of sports trading at BEDMGM.
Speaker 1 (01:05:05):
Man, I've been going.
Speaker 4 (01:05:06):
Back and forth about this because there are two schools
of thought about these defenses, where I at least anticipate
more scoring than Seamus does, and Seamus could be correct.
Speaker 1 (01:05:19):
Who knows.
Speaker 4 (01:05:20):
We anticipated a whole lot of more scoring in Super
Bowl forty two between the Patriots and the Giants than
we got. Remember the epic SoundBite of Brady saying We're
only gonna score seventeen points. Okay, right when I think
it was Plexico Buris had his score prediction and they
scored less than that, which was crazy. But I look
(01:05:42):
at Philly and I look at Case and Seamus is right.
In the regular season, as far as scoring defenses go,
these are two of the top five scoring defenses. They
didn't allow a lot of points. Philly was number two
and the Chiefs were number four. They both allowed less
than twenty points per game. But I've thought about this
and I'm like, am I supposed to be impressed that
(01:06:04):
the Eagles had their way with the Giants?
Speaker 3 (01:06:07):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (01:06:08):
Like, or the Chiefs had their way with the Raiders?
Speaker 4 (01:06:11):
Like where do you think these defenses would be if
the Chiefs and Eagles played each other seventeen games instead
of their schedules this season? You know you think they're
two of the top five scoring defenses. I don't, And
I look at the playoffs. Look at last games, right,
the Chiefs allowed twenty nine points to a talented Bills offense.
(01:06:31):
The Eagles, even with all of the takeaways, they allowed
twenty three to the Commanders, twenty two to the Rams.
When it's snowing sideways at home, I just have a
hard time believing that Mahomes isn't gonna get twenty points
on the Eagles defense, and the Eagles aren't gonna find
a way to score on Casey's defense on a fast
track in New Orleans. I just don't see a defensive
(01:06:54):
slugfest at all.
Speaker 3 (01:06:56):
The only way that it can occur is if we
see what's sometimes we see in prize fights. To borrow
another boxing reference, because sometimes for a contender, like a
really good contender, getting in the ring against a champ,
you circle a little bit. First three rounds are slow.
(01:07:19):
Then all of a sudden, somebody throws a counter and lands,
you know, and scores in round four, and all of
a sudden, the first starts flying. And so maybe we
see a slow start, maybe a scoreless first quarter, and
we only see maybe an exchange of two scores in
the second quarter, and so it's a slow first half,
which can obviously lead to an underhitting. But I agree
(01:07:40):
with you. I think that Saquon Barkley is too big
of a home run hitter for the Eagles not to
get on the board at some point in the first quarter,
because whether it's a chunk play that ends in the
end zone, or it's a chunk play that gets them
within field goal distance, and maybe they finish in the
end zone, or they finish a dry with three All
(01:08:01):
of a sudden, it puts the champions or the reigning
champs on watch, like say, hey, you better get your
stuff together here, because this Eagles team showed up to
play and that offensive line is good enough to Gashia.
And that's the problem for the Chiefs is Spagnolo is
going to have to find a way to get the
Philadelphia offense. I'm talking about defensive coordinator for the Kansas
(01:08:24):
City Chiefs. He's gonna have to find a way to
get this Philadelphia offense into third and longer situations. This way,
you're forcing Jalen Hurts to throw. This way, you're slowing
down the effectiveness of the Eagles offense. Otherwise you're gonna
be counter punchers.
Speaker 1 (01:08:39):
By the way, I just found Betts fifty two and
fifty three each punter.
Speaker 5 (01:08:43):
To have a touch back. Okay, plus two hundred plus
two forty on.
Speaker 6 (01:08:48):
Him again there before the end of the show nine.
Speaker 5 (01:08:53):
I mean, we still got over twenty four hours, so
I don't want to limit myself with still time left.
And let's be honest, your boy's got a lot of
extra fundage in the accounts after Thursdays.
Speaker 6 (01:09:03):
I won fifty by the end of the show.
Speaker 5 (01:09:05):
I promise you well, I promise I will get to
fifty nine by tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (01:09:10):
I cannot promise in the next eighty minutes that I'll
get there because of time constraints.
Speaker 5 (01:09:17):
All right, if I was handicapping, are we gonna see
like thirty eight thirty five? Was the score two years ago?
Very high scoring game, over seventy points. Obviously we had
I think it was twenty four or fourteen at half.
It's almost got to the halftime. We almost got to
the full total by half. I would say, if I
had a handicap fifty percent, you know, is it gonna
be a higher scoring game?
Speaker 1 (01:09:36):
Lower score game? I would say, more often than not, it's.
Speaker 5 (01:09:40):
The the game script Shame is played out where it's
more of a phone booth kind of game. We start
out slow, the running game is prominent, and then Kansas
City maybe has to chase the game late, and then
it gets a little.
Speaker 1 (01:09:55):
Bit higher scoring.
Speaker 5 (01:09:56):
But my vibe for the game more often than not
is a phone booth kind of game. I do think
we always talk like offenses steal the show. We always
talk more about offenses than we do defenses. That's just
the nature of the betting angles and the fantasy sports
culture that.
Speaker 1 (01:10:13):
We were raised in. But these defenses are legit.
Speaker 5 (01:10:18):
I think if you were gonna ask me, what are
the of the four units on the field, Chiefs offense defense,
Eagles offense defense.
Speaker 1 (01:10:25):
What are the best two units?
Speaker 5 (01:10:28):
I mean, we go Eagles defense one, Chiefs defense one A,
one B.
Speaker 1 (01:10:33):
And I know Mahomes is.
Speaker 5 (01:10:34):
The best player on the field, but one through eleven
unit wise, rank the four units. I think I might
put both defenses ahead of both offenses.
Speaker 1 (01:10:45):
Am I crazy for that?
Speaker 3 (01:10:46):
No?
Speaker 4 (01:10:47):
I don't think you're crazy, But the way the game
might play out, like sure, again, I go back to
the Chiefs rush defense has been leaky in the playoffs.
You allow over one hundred yards to Joe Mixon. You
allow eighty plus to James Cook on thirteen carries. Right,
he didn't get the ball that much. So what's Saquon
gonna do? And then also, if Saquan is effective and
(01:11:10):
I expect him to be, what that opens up for
the rest of the offense. That's tough to slow down.
And then I think with the Chiefs have the ball,
I don't know that the Chief's gonna be able to
run the ball effectively at all in the game. They're
gonna try, but I think they might use the passing
game as sort of like an extension of the running game.
(01:11:31):
And you're putting the ball in fifteen's hands over and
over and over and over again. They run a bunch
of zone and Travis Kelcey eats zones up. That's what
he's an artist. He doesn't run specific patterns twelve yards
and in.
Speaker 1 (01:11:45):
That's the bad. No, he just.
Speaker 4 (01:11:46):
Finds the openings and slithers to get first downs and
bigger gains. And I just when you're putting the ball
in mahomes hands over and over again, I'm not telling
you I'm expecting fifty five yard bombs to a former
receiver like Tyreek Hill.
Speaker 6 (01:12:02):
But he's gonna make plays. He gonna make things happen.
Speaker 4 (01:12:05):
I just if both teams don't crack twenty, I will
be freaking shocked. Shocked someone is breaking twenty or football
has somehow been broken.
Speaker 3 (01:12:16):
Yeah. The only way I can really make the counter
argument because I'm leaning more your side, Brian, I think
that this is gonna this feels like it's going to
be a higher scoring game is if both teams play conservative,
like if the game plan is, hey, we're good enough
defensively that we do not need to over extend ourselves offensively.
(01:12:40):
So even if things aren't really working offensively, I could
see both head coaches saying, well, I trust my defense, right,
and so if that ends up panning out, we see
more of a vanilla game script from both Andy Reid
and his offensive staff and Nick Sirianni and his offensive staff.
Because you're leaning on Fangio if you're Nick Sirianni, you're
(01:13:02):
leaning on Spagnola if you're if you're Andy Reid, I
could see the potential for like the the the halftime,
the halftime under hitting, you know, or I should say
the first half under hitting, and then thinking to yourself like,
oh wow, like you know this this game script has
had artificially slowed down the scoring we could have seen.
(01:13:24):
I agree.
Speaker 1 (01:13:25):
We'll call it the Ryan Day approach.
Speaker 3 (01:13:27):
Yeah, we're too good to lose this game, so we
won't let you. We're not gonna give you the reason
we lost. We're not gonna fumble it, we're not gonna
throw an interception, We're not gonna make some dumb you know,
decision to run a reverse. Yeah, we're just gonna hey,
you know, check this out. You guys like a little counter. Okay,
(01:13:48):
we're going off tackle, right, you know, whatever it is.
And so it's uh, I could see that slowing down
the score.
Speaker 5 (01:13:56):
Yeah, that I think that is obviously a factor the
second half to have more points than the first half.
Speaker 1 (01:14:02):
I made that bet twice. I made it two different ways.
Speaker 5 (01:14:04):
I made it at lesser odds if the tie pushes,
and then at better odds if the tie loses, right
that being you know, the three way market where the
tie is an actual individual bet. But I made that
bet twice because I do think the second half will
have more points than the first half. To Brian's point,
minus won thirty five, Brian, for both teams to score
twenty in the game, that's a bet over at bet MGM.
Speaker 1 (01:14:26):
I've already made that bet. There you go. Yeah, yeah,
so it's more often than not.
Speaker 5 (01:14:31):
That's the vibe is minus one thirty five. It's telling
you about a fifty seven fifty eight percent implied odds
that both teams are going to score twenty. I think
I moved the market because I got it at minus
one twenty five.
Speaker 1 (01:14:43):
Moved the mark.
Speaker 4 (01:14:45):
The thousands I put on that bet absolutely moved that juice.
We've got, We've got rich Oronberger, Penn State, All American,
Jared Smith FSR, betting analyst.
Speaker 1 (01:14:56):
I'm Brian now coming up next, prop it up? Oh
my gosh.
Speaker 4 (01:15:01):
Yeah, we might have to extend this to the fine right,
but we'll start to wet our beaks in the prop
betting waters.
Speaker 6 (01:15:08):
It is Super Bowl fifty nine. Right around the corner.
Speaker 4 (01:15:11):
This is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff, presented by BETMGM.

Speaker 6 (01:15:52):
All right, let's do this.
Speaker 3 (01:15:55):
Prop it up? Player plays man.
Speaker 1 (01:15:59):
I feel so good?
Speaker 4 (01:16:02):
Right, now as we dive into prop bets, they're so
much to pick from. You can you can over you
could be overwhelmed when it comes to this stuff. Give
us something that you like, Jared, and we start small
and then and then we expand you know what something.
Speaker 5 (01:16:19):
You like, Well, I'll give you one that you probably
haven't heard, because at this point, after two weeks, you've
probably heard every name and a lot of the bets
that we are going to give out today.
Speaker 1 (01:16:27):
I'm sure you'll hear tomorrow because we all share a.
Speaker 5 (01:16:29):
Lot of information in our little Fox Sports radio team.
But I haven't given this out anywhere yet, and I'm
gonna give it to you guys right now.
Speaker 1 (01:16:37):
Oh Okay, the.
Speaker 5 (01:16:38):
Leading tackler in the game. So let's break it down
gamescrip wise. I think the Eagles are gonna win the
box score, They're gonna win time of possession. So I
think a Chief defender is going to have the most
tackles in the game. It's between Tranquill, It's between Bolton
or door number three. Shamari Connor, the safety for the
Chiefs who had nine tack in the game against the Bills,
(01:17:01):
who has one of the highest tackling rates amongst secondary
players this year, a twelve percent stop rate on rue plays,
again most among defensive backs with at least one hundred snaps.
Jamari Connor thirty to one to have the most tackles
in the game at BETMG.
Speaker 3 (01:17:20):
All right, all right, I'm gonna give you sakuon Barkley
because as if his name hasn't been spoken enough, here's
one more time. I'm gonna take the under the one
twenty eight and a half rushing and receiving yards. That's
a boatload. I mean, how much offense from the Eagles
do we think we're going to see overall? I mean,
(01:17:42):
is it gonna be three hundred yards? I mean, I
mean how much will it take to beat the Chiefs?
And frankly, how much will the Chiefs allow. That's a
great defense that the Eagles offense is facing. One hundred
twenty eight and a half is a big number. I
think if I'm Steve Spagnoll and this defensive stab, my
(01:18:03):
one goal is to stop Shaquan. So you could beat
us any other way you want, but we will not
get We will we will be carried home on our
shield happily if we stop Shakuan. So give me the
under one twenty eight and a half.
Speaker 4 (01:18:18):
I like to thinking, you know, I think when it
comes to a Super Bowl, the kiss method works best.
Keep it simple, stupid because there's so many prop bet
offerings where you could easily start being like, you know what,
I've got Jahan Dotson to have one more touchdown craft
and Manchester United has goals.
Speaker 1 (01:18:37):
Oh love lacrosse courts.
Speaker 3 (01:18:39):
I'm gonna do it.
Speaker 4 (01:18:40):
An orange and blue Gatorade combo is what I got working.
Speaker 1 (01:18:44):
Over, you know what I mean, Like you can get
pretty nutty.
Speaker 4 (01:18:46):
He's got Travis Kelce over sixty one and a half
receiving yards.
Speaker 1 (01:18:50):
Okay, he eats up zone coverage.
Speaker 4 (01:18:54):
That's what the Eagles do under Vic Vangio. Seventy percent
of the time they're in zone, look or Kelsey to
find openings and just slither to an open spot from
the homes. They're on the same page. Man, We've seen it.
I think it's the time to strike. Last game, Kelsey
did nothing two catches for nineteen yards against the Bills.
The previous fourteen playoff games, he had at least seventy
(01:19:19):
receiving yards. He's got a long track record of sustained
production I think over sixty one and a half is
a solid play.
Speaker 1 (01:19:28):
Here, give me Travis Kelsey.
Speaker 5 (01:19:30):
Yeah, and he's been good to put him in the
touchdown parlay last week. You know the receptions prop he
has been good off a week. You know, week off
is usually the time to bet Kelsey because man, father time,
Father Time's undefeated. And I know he's younger than me.
So it feels weird saying that. All right, I'll give
you one more fun one. Will there be a two
point conversion in the game succeeded, not just attempted. I'll
(01:19:53):
give you the other one that the attempt is like
another good one, but the successful two point conversion prop
at plus two fifty at that, MGM, you gotta sprinkle that.
You know, there's someone's going for two in this game.
Someone's going for two games fifties always Well, I think
I error on the side of aggression.
Speaker 4 (01:20:11):
Yeah, absolutely, man, it might be the way to go,
all right, coming up next. This stat is both good
news and bad news for a Super Bowl team.
Speaker 1 (01:20:23):
A good morning.
Speaker 4 (01:20:24):
We are inching closer and closer to Super Bowl fifty nine.
Speaker 1 (01:20:30):
Baby, can't wait for this one.
Speaker 4 (01:20:32):
Hopefully there'll be a lot of points I'm just reviewing
some of my bets that.
Speaker 1 (01:20:38):
I'm up to fifty five. I made a couple during
the break. What happened?
Speaker 3 (01:20:42):
What did you get?
Speaker 1 (01:20:43):
What'd you get?
Speaker 3 (01:20:44):
Down?
Speaker 5 (01:20:44):
You do most receptions in the game at thirty five
to one, and then I know. And then I also
put in a bet on Bolton to have the most
tackles because we had Connor and I think I do
think the Chiefs defense will be on the field longer.
Speaker 3 (01:20:58):
The bet is bold sides, all receiver teams, Yeah, teams.
Speaker 1 (01:21:03):
I have an on Juju. You're big game hunting over here.
Speaker 3 (01:21:07):
I like it.
Speaker 1 (01:21:08):
You know, I don't think I've ever had this much
risk for one game. It's kind of scared guys.
Speaker 3 (01:21:14):
He is chasing Moby Dick. He is captain a habit.
It is the mythical white whale. He I mean it is.
He's got his harpoon sharpened. He's on a wooden boat.
He is he's praying for good weather.
Speaker 1 (01:21:30):
Oh yes, playing.
Speaker 4 (01:21:33):
For what's the guy that in uh one of the
geeky movies that's.
Speaker 1 (01:21:39):
Like prescious.
Speaker 6 (01:21:43):
Yeah, Yeah, that's that's Jared right now.
Speaker 1 (01:21:46):
He's honey for the ring.
Speaker 5 (01:21:49):
Juju has a bad game. I'm gonna be down bad tomorrow.
If he's at zero zero by halftime, we're in trouble, guys.
Speaker 4 (01:21:59):
Let me throw a statut you guys. That I think
is both good and potentially bad for one team.
Speaker 1 (01:22:04):
Okay, on the good side.
Speaker 4 (01:22:06):
You got the Eagles ten takeaways this postseason alone, and
they don't have a single turnover themselves. Wow, that's the
best differential in playoff history thus far. And so obviously
that's a great thing. You're taking the ball away, you're
not giving it up. That's exactly what you try to do.
(01:22:27):
But the thing I think of the Chiefs, they have
one giveaway. They have one turnover over the last nine games.
And that one happened last week when there was a
fumbled like Mahomes was trying to do Lamar Jackson, like
the zone read type thing, like he gave the ball
and then tried to pull it out and it resulted
(01:22:50):
in a fumble.
Speaker 1 (01:22:50):
And it's like, what are what are they doing?
Speaker 3 (01:22:52):
Man?
Speaker 4 (01:22:53):
They're not the Ravens. But one giveaway in the last
nine games for the Chiefs. So it makes me think,
what if the Chiefs protect the ball, where is this
Eagles defense at if they're not forcing takeaway after takeaway
after takeaway like they've done in the first three playoff
games thus far.
Speaker 6 (01:23:13):
Right, it's a legitimate thought.
Speaker 4 (01:23:14):
So something that's so good and explains a big reason
why the Eagles are here in Super Bowl fifty nine.
If all of a sudden the takeaways start to dry up,
then what It's a legitimate question.
Speaker 3 (01:23:27):
I have been I played football. Let's see, a total
of sixteen years high school, well, I guess, middle school,
high school, collegiately, professionally. I've been broadcasting football for another
eight so I know you do the math. I won't,
but close to twenty five years of talking to football
(01:23:50):
coaches and when you talk to defensive coordinators, head coaches,
anybody who knows the game, and you start talking about turnovers, Hey,
you know, you guys are having a great season, you know,
or hey, we're having a great season. How are we
generating all these turnovers? Nobody has a good answer. Nobody does.
(01:24:11):
Nobody has a good answer it because you could have
a team that has unbelievable pass rush metrics and they
don't turn the ball over. They just they for some reason,
they're not knocking it out of a QB's hands. They're
getting tons of pressure, tons of hurries, tons of sacks.
You know, all the things are there, but they're not
generating turnovers. Why well, you ask a defensive coordinator who's
(01:24:34):
been coaching long enough, he'll tell you it's just not
our year. We're for whatever reason, we're just you know,
I mean, we've had some opportunities, you know. And then
you talk to other coaches where it's like, oh my gosh,
like you have one defensive back with six interceptions, you're
only eight weeks into the season. How have you done it?
And the same answer, it's like, look, you know, we're
(01:24:54):
putting ourselves in good positions, but you know we're getting
fortunate on some of these, Like there is a luck
factor to interceptions to fumble recoveries that isn't discussed by
a lot of people on the outside because you look
at you look at that stat and you're blown away
by it. It's like, oh, this defense forces turnovers. But
you talk to coaches and they'll be the first to
(01:25:17):
tell you like, eh, you know that is a feast
or famine stat, Like sometimes great and we're all getting
fat on that stat, and sometimes not so good. You
cannot rely on turnovers, you rely on all the other
things I was discussing, like putting yourself in great position
defensively on the back end, making sure that you are
step for step in stride for stride with your receivers
(01:25:38):
and coverage, that you're not letting any free home run
hitters flying down the sideline, that you're getting pressure on
the opposing quarterback, that you're your linebackers are eyeing the
QB and the scramble drill, you're spying things the appropriate way,
like everybody's hemmed in on their responsibilities, because you cannot
trust that you're going to just because you've been at
(01:26:00):
this pace ten turnovers throughout the postseason, Well, we're expecting
three more against the Chiefs. Not so fast. That's not
how this works. So I agree with you. It is.
It is a great stat for the Eagles, and it
is impressive, but it is. I mean, it's fools gold
if you're gonna go all in and say, hey, gotta
(01:26:20):
trust that Philly defense.
Speaker 5 (01:26:21):
They forced turnovers, yeah, I mean they've had nine in
the last two games.
Speaker 1 (01:26:26):
I mean it's just it's crazy.
Speaker 5 (01:26:28):
It's crazy the amount of turnovers that the echues me
six in the last two games, two against the Rams
and four against Washington. Washington had nine turn had two
games with nine turnovers they had, they forced five against Detroit,
gave up four against Philly. Turnovers are fluky, man, They're fluky.
Speaker 1 (01:26:45):
And how about this.
Speaker 5 (01:26:46):
Coming into Championship Sunday, we talked about this two weeks ago.
Teams that won the turnover battle were seven to zero
in the playoffs. They were eight zero after the Washington
Philly game. And then there's that one mm hmm, Kansas
City turns it over against Buffalo. The Bills commit zero turnovers,
(01:27:06):
Chiefs win the game. I mean, I think turnovers are
the biggest factor in determining who wins the game.
Speaker 1 (01:27:15):
They are also the hardest thing to predict. Yeah, so
it just it.
Speaker 3 (01:27:21):
Really.
Speaker 5 (01:27:22):
I have no logical, you know, number to give you
that can say here's why there's gonna be a turnover
in the game for this team. I cannot predict it.
And that's why I try not to use it as
a tool when I'm handicapping, because.
Speaker 1 (01:27:38):
I can't predict it.
Speaker 3 (01:27:41):
You can't.
Speaker 1 (01:27:41):
The ball bounces in funky ways.
Speaker 5 (01:27:44):
You cannot predict it, and you'll drive yourself insane trying
to so you just have to you have to pray
to the turnover gods that it bounces your way. I mean,
that's really the only way to do it.
Speaker 4 (01:27:55):
Yeah, you go back to a couple of these Philly
games where it was the opening kickoff against the Packers
and they fumbled it. Yeah, right, like that was a
big deal in that game. You go to that Washington game,
the last one that Philly played, some of those turnovers, Like,
just just picture those turnovers happening in the Super Bowl
(01:28:17):
for the Chiefs, you know what I mean. There was
a kickoff return that was coughed up. Another job number
one for the Chiefs. Don't fumble kickoff returns. Right, We've
seen a couple of them against Philly this postseason.
Speaker 6 (01:28:27):
But also Diami.
Speaker 4 (01:28:28):
Brown he caught a pass, was trying to fight for
more yards, coughed it up near the sideline. Austin Eckler,
remember he caught a pass and fell down and they
punched the ball out, and everyone's like, this is what
Nick Sirianni preaches it.
Speaker 6 (01:28:41):
It's like, Okay, it's a.
Speaker 4 (01:28:43):
Flukey thing, right, give Philly credit for doing that. I'm
not taking credit away from them, but you have to
ask yourself. If you're not greatly assisted with those takeaways
both your defense and your offense, that does a ton
for your offense, then what do you got? Like, how
good are you if that is taken away? And great
(01:29:05):
teams like the Chiefs, they find a way of making
life a lot more difficult for you.
Speaker 1 (01:29:10):
And if you've.
Speaker 4 (01:29:11):
Thrived off of ten takeaways in three playoff games, imagine
if you don't get any or just get one, like,
then what's the situation If that's what we're looking at,
and we well.
Speaker 3 (01:29:22):
Might be yeah, yeah, Look, protecting the football is the
is the biggest cure for or i should say is
the biggest factor in in the turnover battle. So as
an offensive player or a returner, or a center, or
a quarterback, or a punter or a holder, anybody who
(01:29:44):
touches a football receiver, protecting the football is the most
important thing if you want to have an impact on
the on the turnover game. So, like, you'll see this
all the time and it drives me insane. But it'll
be like second down and you'll see like a height
end fighting for extra yardage and then all of a sudden,
because he realized he's getting close to the first down marker,
(01:30:07):
he'll stretch his arm out and try to fall forward,
and the ball will get punched out or it'll bounce
off somebody's knee. It's not even intentional that the ball
got knocked out, but it did. Like, you gotta protect
the football, you gotta understand the situation. Yes, it's great
to fight for extra yardage. Everybody wants extra yardage. It
makes a difference. First downs matter too. I get all that,
(01:30:29):
But the most important thing is the football. If you
get too loose with the football, you lose football games.
And so yes, everything that defenses are taught, you know
what I mean. You know, in coverage responsibilities, when it's
time to look for the ball in the air, when
your receiver flash his hands, I mean it's time to
(01:30:49):
look back and see if you can spot the ball,
especially if you got to step on your receiver. All
those things, if you're a pass rusher, making sure that
you chop down on the throwing arm, anticipated him rearing
back toward his ear so aiming for that spot on
the quarterback without drawing the penalty. All those things are important.
But the most important thing to have an impact on
(01:31:09):
the turnover margin is protecting the ball if you're a
ball carrier, and some of these teams against the Eagles,
to the eagles great fortune, have been loose with the
football and it's it's created enough space or comfort, I
should say, cushion in these games for a very capable
Eagles rushing attack to completely take over the game. And
(01:31:33):
when you can control the ground and control the clock,
if you're the Philadelphia Eagles, you can control the game.
And we've seen that many times this postseason already.
Speaker 5 (01:31:42):
Yeah, I feel pretty confident that the Eagles cannot overcome
a turnover deficit, whereas the Chiefs can. I like the
Chiefs have more of a margin for error, I think
because they have the great equalizer quarterback who can bail
them out, Whereas I think the Eagles need to stay
on schedule, on script, and I think they will. Honestly,
if you ask me what the script is for this game.
(01:32:04):
I talked to Goodell last night. He gave me the
whole script, gave it to me word by word, chapter
by chapter. I think the Eagles win the box score.
I think the Eagles win the tangibles of the game.
I don't know if they're gonna win the intangibles if
they finish even on the intangibles, they don't turn it over,
they don't give up the wow plays. They make Mahomes
(01:32:26):
go dink and dunk and march down the field and
use the there make Kansas City's running game beat them
instead of allowing Mahomes to beat them. If that's the script,
the Eagles will win time of possession, they will win
the box score, and they will have a lead in
the game at some point, but I don't know if
they'll finish the game with the lead. That's where it's
(01:32:46):
that thir late third, early fourth quarter, you know, down
the stretch they come of the Kentucky Derby that I
think that's where Kansas City has the finishing kick.
Speaker 1 (01:32:56):
But my script says the.
Speaker 5 (01:32:58):
Way I'm betting the game is the Eagles win the
box score, and I don't know if they win the game,
but I do think they will win the box score.
Speaker 1 (01:33:05):
Interesting.
Speaker 4 (01:33:06):
Yeah, it's it's kind of weird, right because with your
extensive betting portfolio right there going into Super Bowl fifty nine, Jared,
we're inching to ward fifty nine bets for Super Bowl
fifty nine. But we always hear about correlated bets, you know,
if you're expecting the Chiefs to throw for a bunch
(01:33:28):
of yards, well it makes sense to have mahomes overpassing
yards and probably Kelsey over receiving it. Right, Like correlated,
But it's interesting with if you have a number of bets,
you want to have some uncorrelated stuff as well, because
it might not play out how you're anticipating it. If
you're anticipating a high scoring game and most of your
(01:33:51):
bets reflect that, well imagine if it does turn into
more of a slugfest than you anticipated.
Speaker 3 (01:33:56):
You know.
Speaker 4 (01:33:57):
So it's weird. It's counterintuitive. Where normal you want stuff
that's correlated. But if you start adding another bet and
it's DJ Kalent another one, like just keep adding, But
I'm in this morning, right, you want some uncorrelated stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:34:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:34:13):
I really appreciate how exciting the super Bowl is because
I've always loved the feeling of everybody doing the same
thing at once. You know. It's like it's kind of
like when you go to the party that everybody's at
in high school and you're like, oh, yeah, this is
this is what I was supposed to be doing tonight,
(01:34:34):
you know, or you know, you go to like I
mean if you go to a Big ten college or
you go to an SEC college, it feels like the
world is standing still on the outside, but in that stadium,
it's you and one hundred thousand of your friends, like
like that's where you're supposed to be. Like Super Bowl Sunday,
there's so much attention and so much gravitas around this
(01:34:58):
game that you can't, I hope yourself. It's almost like compulsory,
like you have to. You have to have some sort
of wager, like whether you've got the friend at the
party who puts together the Super Bowl box for you,
or you have the situation where you're like Jared and
you're you're trying to get fifty nine bets in on
(01:35:18):
the game. Like it's almost impossible not at some point
to bet against yourself because there's such a long lead
up to it and you and literally one hundred million
of your friends are gonna be tuning in for this one,
so getting a little bit over your skis in anticipation,
(01:35:38):
it's impossible not to. Here's the one thing I hope for,
and I hope that Brian's right in a big way.
As a result of the way I feel about this,
I hope that this delivers on action and excitement the
same way the AFC Championship game did. Like the NFC
Championship game was a snooze because it really did feel
like the Commanders faded, like the moment was too big
(01:36:00):
for them, they made too many mistakes. The Bills Chiefs,
that was a slug fest that that Bills team is
better than that Chiefs team. That Bills team, I'll repeat it,
that Bill's team is better than that Chiefs team. And
and like you say, Jared, the great equalizers, Patrick Mahomes,
Andy Reid, I mean, hats off to him with with
(01:36:21):
a lesser team, they were able to make it to
the Super Bowl. The better team did not win the
more prepared and capable team that night one. I'm hoping.
I don't. I really don't have a dog in the fight,
so I I haven't picked a side yet, but but
I'm hoping for a great game because it almost feels
(01:36:41):
like we're owed that after seeing what we saw on
the NFC side and seeing what we can have on
the ANFC side, we this this this game better delivered
because I'm I'm that's the place I'm getting over my
skis is I'm really excited for an excited game and
I hope it does pay off.
Speaker 5 (01:37:01):
Just added another bet, Oh.
Speaker 1 (01:37:03):
Get the fifty nine bets? Yes, now, I'm just kidding.
Speaker 3 (01:37:05):
Happen. That's not a bet on bet GM well though
it should be.
Speaker 1 (01:37:09):
It should be listed.
Speaker 3 (01:37:10):
It would.
Speaker 5 (01:37:10):
It would be one hundred handle on the Yes, here's
a here's a good follow up to that point. Which
team is more likely? Like, let's say Rich's hope doesn't
come to fruition and this game is a blowout, which
team is more likely to win via blowout? I think
the obvious answer is Philly, right, Like Philly just bludgeons
(01:37:31):
the Chiefs and we get like what we saw in
that Bucks Chief Super Bowl from a few years ago,
where Tampa Bay just completely dominated the football game from
start to finish. That feels more likely to me. But
I'm open to alternative blowout suggestions.
Speaker 1 (01:37:47):
Yeah, I just think that.
Speaker 4 (01:37:48):
Listen to the Chiefs just played the better team on
Championship Sunday, Like the Bills are better than the Commanders.
Speaker 1 (01:37:54):
They are, Yeah, it's but are the Bills better than
the Eagles?
Speaker 4 (01:37:58):
But I'm just saying it's the last thing we saw.
We just saw fifty five to twenty something whatever it
was for the Eagles. True, so it does, I agree
with it feels more like if there is to be
a blowout. And I don't think either team is getting
blowout blown out, but if there is to be one,
it feels more like the Eagles. But my point is,
I think that's because we just saw it. We just
(01:38:19):
saw it the last game, you know, so we'll see.
We got a lot of ground to cover over. Yes,
we still we do. We have Rich heorn Berger, Penn
State All American, Jared Smith FSR betting analyst. I'm Brian No.

coming up next? Is this game more about the ceiling
or the floor. It's Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff
presented by BETMGM. It is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to
(01:39:05):
Kickoff presented by BETMGM.
Speaker 1 (01:39:07):
Hey we're going nowhere?
Speaker 3 (01:39:09):
Huh.
Speaker 4 (01:39:10):
Football season is ending after tomorrow, very sadly, but Countdown
continues rebranded.
Speaker 3 (01:39:16):
Huh.
Speaker 4 (01:39:17):
We'll be around year round thanks to our friends at
BETMGM and Fox Sports Radio. So nine am until noon
Eastern Time on Saturdays and Sundays, So I'll be around
with Jeff Schwartz Bill Krackenberger on Sundays and this crew
will be your Saturday crew. So very excited about that,
(01:39:38):
Totally pumped up. We get to talk NBA and college
hoops a little bit more very soon, so we'll fire
it up.
Speaker 1 (01:39:45):
Man excited for that.
Speaker 3 (01:39:47):
Yeah, this has been one of one of my favorite things,
something I look forward to doing every week with you guys.
And we love the interaction with our listeners. So us
on social media, we're easy to find a Fox Sports
Radio good place to start because our production staff is
(01:40:07):
always tweeting stuff about us. And yeah, we love that
You've been along for the ride with us, and it's
been it's been truly truly a blast. So looking forward
to this game tomorrow. Boys, this is exciting times for
us indeed, and Jared, are we up to fifty nine bets?
We're not. Yeah, look at But I.
Speaker 5 (01:40:27):
Will say this to echo what you were saying. I mean,
it's crazy that we've been doing this show. This is
our third football season doing this show. It feels like
thirty minutes that we've been doing it, and it's been
pretty much three years now, just an I mean, the crew, everyone,
it's been an awesome year.
Speaker 1 (01:40:43):
This is such a fun and that's what gambling gambling content.
Speaker 5 (01:40:47):
We lose the focus of it sometimes because on social
media it's all about winning and check marks and ROI
and I know that matters, and that's where you get
the attention. But the entertainment value and the just the
overall quality of the information is I think paramount. And
I think that's what this show and the Sunday Show
(01:41:07):
and everyone behind the scenes is doing just a great
job to keep this thing moving.
Speaker 4 (01:41:10):
By the way, real fast. What happens when you get
to fifty nine bets? I have to stop and you
really love another one, you know what I mean, Like.
Speaker 1 (01:41:20):
I'm gonna leave that.
Speaker 5 (01:41:21):
That's why it's almost like when you fill up your
gas tank.
Speaker 1 (01:41:25):
You don't want to overflow it. You want to leave
a little bit left because just in case.
Speaker 5 (01:41:29):
I don't know, this is a terrible and I have
no idea I'm going with this, but I am gonna
leave Let's just leave it at this.
Speaker 1 (01:41:34):
I'm gonna leave myself one one bullet left in the chamber.
Speaker 6 (01:41:38):
Okay, we're gonna stop at fifty eight.
Speaker 1 (01:41:42):
I know, I got the coin dows.
Speaker 5 (01:41:44):
We're betting the coin dows, and we're also going to
bet the total because I do think we're going to
see forty nine at some point, so I'm gonna come
back on the under.
Speaker 1 (01:41:50):
So I really need to leave myself at fifty seven.
So I need to get the fifty seven by tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (01:41:55):
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:41:56):
So here's my next boyestion for you guys.
Speaker 4 (01:41:58):
Okay, is this game more about the ceiling or the floor?
Speaker 3 (01:42:02):
Now?
Speaker 1 (01:42:02):
This is what I mean by that, Jared, you said
earlier in.
Speaker 4 (01:42:06):
The season in this show that the Eagles, if they're
playing at their peak, their absolute best, their best might
be better than the Chief's best because they have a
better roster, right, they have more talent. So I see
where you're going with that. But my thing is it
might not be just about the ceiling. It might be
(01:42:27):
about the floor. Like this reminds me of We'll get
into the NFL draft here in the next few months
to come, and more times than not, it's about the ceiling. Oh,
look at Anthony Richardson, Look at what if he realizes
his potential, Look at the tools, look at what he's
capable of. And it's like, look at the floor. Also, Okay,
(01:42:49):
like that matters. So the Chiefs have less overall talent
than the Eagles, but I would argue their floor is
absolutely higher because they don't beat themselves. They don't commit
stupid penalties, they don't commit stupid turnovers. They've turned it
over once in the last nine games. They're not going
(01:43:10):
to beat themselves. And I'm not telling you the Eagles
do like left and right, But the floor for the Eagles,
like job one is, don't beat yourself, make your opponent
beat you. And they just do such a great job
of maximizing all these opportunities.
Speaker 1 (01:43:27):
I call them the mguiver of football, you know what
I mean.
Speaker 4 (01:43:30):
Like they lose Rashie Rice, they lose Tyreek Hill, doesn't
even matter. It's like we've got some dental floss, We've
got some cabbage and number two pencil, and somehow we
got to get in the end zone.
Speaker 1 (01:43:41):
Fellas and they find a way.
Speaker 4 (01:43:43):
They just find ways, and they limit mistakes. So I
don't know, Rich, what do you think. Is this more
about top end talent and better roster the ceiling max
potential or is it the floor and not beating yourself?
Speaker 3 (01:43:58):
To start with, If the NFL was about top end
talent and about how high your ceiling could potentially be,
the Chiefs would not have been a fifteen win team.
It's as plain and simple as that. The Chiefs were
not good enough, potentially good enough if we're just gonna
(01:44:18):
talk about ceilings and roster construction and Star Wars Star.
When you look at the matchups on paper, they just
weren't good enough. If it's all about potentially what you
can potentially do versus what you don't do, like the
cardinal sins of football, that the Chiefs seemed to steer
away from that opponent's. Like I was using the analogy earlier,
(01:44:41):
the metaphor. You know, even as sturdy as that rock looks,
when it goes against ocean overtime, it wears out, it
erodes away. The Chiefs are so consistently better at the basics,
better at the consistency the fundamentals, then the teams they
go up against, often times their opponents break against them.
(01:45:02):
And yeah, so to answer your question simply, it is
not about the ceiling. It is not about the talent
or the potential. It's about it's about that hard basement
that you cannot break with the Chiefs and they there's
there's a safety net called Patrick Mahomes that will will
(01:45:22):
catch them in moments where things are going off kilter.
He's done it several times where he's but he's he's
you know, like it's like you can see him. He's
looking for his helmet but also his cape on the sideline.
It's like, all right, let me just tear off this
this suit. So mild mannered Clark Kent can turn into
Superman and he goes out there and he does something
(01:45:42):
miraculous when the Chiefs are down, you know, one to
eight points in the fourth quarter. Over time, We've seen
it time and time and time again. So yeah, yeah,
I mean again, that's a lot of words where I
could have just said, Brian, it's about the basement. Not
about the ceiling.
Speaker 5 (01:46:00):
One of my favorite movies of all time, Catch Me
if you can Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks, Christopher Walking. Christopher
Walking is Leonardo DiCaprio's dad in the movie, and he says,
do you know why the Yankees always win?
Speaker 1 (01:46:13):
It's because their opponents can't stop staring at the pin stripes.
It's a great quote.
Speaker 5 (01:46:18):
Yeah, it's kind of a homage to the bright lights
sometimes are too big for certain teams, for certain players
there can't stop staring at the pin stripes. That's the
chiefs aura, their mystique. Sometimes forces teams to beat themselves
because one little thing in the game goes wrong, even
(01:46:41):
if it's something that the Chiefs don't even cause it's
like a fluke thing, and all of a sudden, everyone
on the sideline's.
Speaker 1 (01:46:47):
Thinking, huh, here we go again. We're up against the Chiefs.
Speaker 5 (01:46:50):
Yep, they're gonna get all the calls, they're gonna get
all the breaks, and it's the self defeating prophecy, and
a lot of times that is what separate I'm convinced
multiple games this year, you mentioned the Broncos one B
and oh you mentioned the Raiders one Those are teams.
Bad teams find ways to beat themselves. And I'm not
(01:47:13):
saying the Eagles are a bad team, but in terms
of the mystique factor, they are not on.
Speaker 1 (01:47:19):
The Chiefs level, not even close.
Speaker 5 (01:47:21):
Like the Chiefs are Zeus in the Greek gods, and
it's like David Verskalife. Even though I do think the
Eagles have a Goliath roster in terms of the mindset
and the mystique, the Chiefs still have this.
Speaker 1 (01:47:35):
Pin stripe nature to them where you just can't take
your eyes off of it.
Speaker 5 (01:47:39):
And Yeah, if you're gonna ask me which team has
the more potential to show you their floor and to
beat themselves and to defecate down their leg and height
sphincter syndrome, it's definitely the Eagles, no doubt about.
Speaker 3 (01:47:54):
It, right.
Speaker 4 (01:47:55):
And that's the thing is, Look, man, I get it.
I want to get too philosophical, but we lovehighlights, we
love the big plays, we love jaw dropping stuff. I
don't think there's anything fundamentally wrong with that. But a
lot of times the problem is we overlook the floor.
We overlook Hey, it's third and four. You got an
open receiver for five yards, Hit him and move the chains.
(01:48:16):
That's not gonna lead SportsCenter, you know what I mean.
But look at Lamar Jackson, great example of the ceiling
in the floor. His best is outstanding. He put up
nasty numbers all season long, and then when it came
time for the playoffs and on the road against Buffalo,
there's a stupid interception, there's a costly fumble. The floor
(01:48:37):
plays a big factor. Go back to the Super Bowl
two years ago. Jalen Hurts played a great game, but
look at the floor. There was a fumble that turned
into a touchdown for the Chiefs, and that was.
Speaker 1 (01:48:48):
A huge deal in the game.
Speaker 4 (01:48:51):
And you're not seeing Mahomes make those big mistakes, and
so we're drawn to the ceiling.
Speaker 1 (01:48:57):
And could you see that play he hurtled over five unbelievable.
Speaker 4 (01:49:01):
But then also there's that stupid mistake, that costly turnover
or whatever, that missed receiver in the end zone like
brock Purty last year, you know, and that comes back
to bite you. So I think the floor can't be overlooked,
and it often is, especially in this matchup.
Speaker 3 (01:49:22):
There was a show and everybody knows that. Everybody's seen
it called ted Lasso, where the yellow sign that said,
believe becomes popular where almost in every sales room in
Corporate America or every locker room in the high schools,
you have believe, you know, pinned up with the four
(01:49:44):
corner tape. And the reason why that resonated so much
is because where does confidence come from? Right? It starts
with belief self belief. I don't care what everybody else says.
I believe in myself. And so what that does is
that it creates like an attraction. There's almost you're compelled
(01:50:04):
to believe somebody who believes in themselves. It's like, well
they've got it figured out. I gotta figure out what
they know, you know, I mean. And that's just talking
about like one person. You multiply that by eleven people
on the field at the same time, you multiply that
by the twenty two Playoffense and defense include the special teams,
the staff, the medical team, the people who serve lunch
(01:50:27):
in the cafeteria, the mailroom guy, you know, all the
shoutouts that Josh Allen gave during his MVP speech. If
every single person in a franchise believes, that's a reckoning
force coming at you, and it is really distracting when
you're playing against a team like that. I remember when
I was playing for New England, it felt like the
(01:50:48):
field was literally tilted against our opponents. Oh man, it
felt like we were running downhill and I realized we
were on a flat surface, but it didn't feel that way.
We were a bludgeoning horde of marauders and we were
gonna run through your face. Yes, you're not stopping us.
(01:51:09):
It's we're coming for you and we're we're not gonna
finish until we're done. That's that's life against the Kansas
City Chiefs. They have this insane self belief and confidence
and it's it's unstoppable. And so good luck Philly. I mean, honestly,
(01:51:29):
I'm kind of pull up for Philadelphia. I love Sequon Barkley,
I love the story. I think Jalen Hurts is a
good guy. I but good luck Philadelphia everyone.
Speaker 1 (01:51:41):
Honestly, that's why the Eagles are getting all the handle.
Speaker 5 (01:51:44):
And it's it's so funny because everyone thinks the game
is rigged for Kansas City, but everyone's.
Speaker 1 (01:51:49):
Betting the Eagles.
Speaker 5 (01:51:53):
But Ornberger, to your point, if there was a mistake
holding number sixty on the Patriots back at.
Speaker 1 (01:52:01):
Up ten didn't matter. We're overcoming it were better.
Speaker 3 (01:52:03):
Yeah, Like, yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:52:04):
That's the difference, right, Like even when you'd made a mistake,
you believe the power of positivity. You're putting out this
positive message that we can overcome a you know, a misstep,
Whereas I think the teams that face the chiefs, something
like that happens and they get in their heads. It's
(01:52:25):
all in their minds. The positive outlook on life is
all in your head. People don't realize how it is hard.
But people don't realize how easy it is to change
your life, to change your outlook. It's all about how
you feel between your ears about yourself and what you
put out into the world. And then it comes back
to you like it's the law of attraction. Like what
(01:52:46):
you put out comes back. If you're putting out a negative, oh,
we're gonna lose, Like this is here we go again, Mahomes.
Speaker 1 (01:52:52):
You're gonna lose. It already happened, And I go back
to the Orange Bowl with Drew Aller.
Speaker 5 (01:52:57):
He made the mistake before the interception of not getting
a first down. He missed a throw on the sidelines
before he threw the interception that cost Penn State the game.
You cut away to Duweler and he's in his head.
He's like, oh no, he's negative. Penn State lost the
game before the interception was thrown because on the sidelines
Drewler couldn't get out of his head and get into
that positive mindset.
Speaker 1 (01:53:18):
That's what happens when you face the Chiefs.
Speaker 4 (01:53:20):
Yeah, it's a great point, and it's along those same lines,
but flipped right where the supreme confidence on the other
side of what you're talking about, Jared is and you're
alluding to this rich Is You remember Robert or the
NBA player. Yeah, just supreme confidence. He hit a big
(01:53:41):
shot and then he hit another big shot and then
he's just like, the next one's going in.
Speaker 1 (01:53:46):
Man, this is what I do.
Speaker 4 (01:53:47):
He had shot, Buddy, Yes, Bob, just unshakable confidence.
Speaker 6 (01:53:52):
And that's what the Chiefs are like. You go back
to the last game.
Speaker 4 (01:53:56):
So after the fourth and five, Kinkaid didn't catch it, like,
the Chiefs had this all out blitz and and the
Chiefs had the ball. The game wasn't over. Yep, the
Bill still had two timeouts. The Chiefs had to get
two first downs for the game to be completely over,
and it was a hot night with Butter, That's right.
But my favorite part of that game when the Chiefs
(01:54:18):
still had work to do, Chris Jones had his helmet
off and he was like congratulating Dion DAAs. He's like,
it's like a postgame handshake.
Speaker 1 (01:54:28):
With time still left.
Speaker 4 (01:54:29):
He's still a couple of minutes to go, and Chris
Jones basically like, yeah, dude, this is a rap man.
Speaker 1 (01:54:35):
You guys have had a great season, great game.
Speaker 4 (01:54:38):
That unshakable confidence is what the Eagles are up against.
And I'm not telling you they can't win. They are
more than capable of winning. But that's the type of
stuff that goes beyond just having the more talented roster, and.
Speaker 3 (01:54:52):
That's what makes the greats great. Like I remember hearing
I forget which opponent who was guarding Larry Burr in
a game, but he goes. Larry was so frustrating because
he would tell you in the game what he was
about to do to you, yes, and he would do it.
You would say, listen, I'm gonna dribble down court left
hand and I'm gonna cross you over at mid court.
(01:55:13):
You're gonna be trying to catch up with me. I'm
gonna step back, I'm gonna shoot a three in your face.
And then all of a sudden they're on the you know,
the right corner, and he drains a three and he's
jogging looking over his shoulder and Larry Bird out of
foul mouth and he would say something awful to whoever
it was. And it's just like I but I love
hearing that story as as I mean, look in our
(01:55:36):
culture now it may sound like bullying, it's not. It's
not because in sports like that unshakable confidence. It's it's
what you aim for, and it's a it's a psychological
game you're playing. Shaking your opponent's hand and wishing him
well in the offseason before you win a football game.
(01:55:57):
That that is a part of the psychology.
Speaker 4 (01:56:00):
Yes, absolutely it is. That's rich Oroornberger, Penn State All American.
Jared Smith with us FSR betting analyst. I'm Brian know
shortly after the show, our podcast would be going up.

(01:56:22):
after we get off the air. Might be a fun
listen after the fact. Imagine if the Eagles win and
we're just like, oh, Jeefs, James Chiefs fun, Jacoble confidence
could be kind of entertaining.
Speaker 6 (01:56:33):
All right, Coming up next, Rapid Fire.
Speaker 4 (01:56:35):
We each have three selections for you, including quite the
interesting development. We'll have some details for you coming up.
It is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to kick Off, presented
by BETMGM. It is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff,
presented by BETMGM. Props to the crew, our trusted producer
Bo Benson, the Dodgers Own Podcast, our technical producer Jordanaire,
(01:57:00):
Chris Purfett, Pride of Detroit podcast, our digital guy Sager
posting our clips, doing a fantastic job.
Speaker 1 (01:57:07):
Top of the Hour.
Speaker 4 (01:57:08):
Up on Game LaVar Arrington, DJ Hushman's Out of Plexico Burst.
Speaker 6 (01:57:12):
They have got you covered. We got some picks to make.
Speaker 1 (01:57:15):
Let's do it.
Speaker 3 (01:57:19):
Ramid Fire.
Speaker 6 (01:57:21):
All right, So we have three picks.
Speaker 4 (01:57:23):
I'll say real briefly so we can get these picks
in the interesting development between myself and you, Jared. So
this is for the caboose all right. This is for
the mayonnaise and the coffee, the last place, the whole thing.
So I made two picks last week. We make three
picks last week, three picks this week. Leading up to
(01:57:44):
the Super Bowl, I went ohen too. I had Michigan
minus five and a half against Rutgers. Rutgers hit a
buzzer beater to lose by three and cover the spread.
So if you're alive, Basically my magic number is two. Okay,
they have if I get two picks right, or you
get two picks wrong, or I get one right, you
get one wrong, I avoid the basement.
Speaker 1 (01:58:06):
But you're alive.
Speaker 4 (01:58:07):
If I go zero to four, you go five and one,
you avoid last place. So I Flora's yours, man, you
are alive.
Speaker 3 (01:58:14):
All right.
Speaker 5 (01:58:15):
I'll make it brief and I'll make it succinct. Two
point conversion attempt in the game, yes, even odds over
at bet MGM. We saw five of them on Championship Sunday.
I lean on the side of aggression. I think the
Eagles are gonna win the box score in the game,
So I'm gonna bet Eagles to have more first downs.
Speaker 1 (01:58:31):
In the game.
Speaker 5 (01:58:32):
At minus one fifteen again, the toash Bush always gives
them more first downs just in general, and they lead
the NFL in time of possession.
Speaker 1 (01:58:38):
I think they're gonna win the box score, and.
Speaker 5 (01:58:40):
I'll take Eagles plus one and a half in the game.
I think this closes minus one. I think Billy closes
a slight favorite in the game. So if we know
we're gonna get a point point and a half of CLV,
I gotta go Philly plus one and a half in
the game. I'll give you though, Chiefs twenty five Eagles
twenty four as my final score piction.
Speaker 3 (01:58:57):
All right, I like it for me. Start with Sakwan
Barkley that under one hundred and twenty seven and a
half yards rushing and receiving has come down from one
twenty eight and a half on this show. I like
this a lot at minus one fifteen total on Super
Bowl fifty nine under forty nine points, give me the under,
and then Chiefs minus one and a half. Give me
(01:59:21):
the Chiefs. I think they'll eite those points. I think
they win by three. All right.
Speaker 4 (01:59:28):
I thought about going with each the Chiefs running back
they're receiving yards because I think they're using the running
of the passing games an extension to the run, and
that's really easy. If a running back catches it, Jared,
you're like, oh no, I'm gonna go in a different direction.
Give me Mahomes over thirty five and a half passing attempts.
I don't think they're gonna be able to run it
(01:59:49):
very effectively. Give me Kelsey over sixty one and a
half receiving yards. He eats up his own coverage. And
give me the Chiefs on the money line. Give me
a minus one fifteen and like
Speaker 1 (02:00:00):
Oh birds, the males and
