The show today as we'll break things down with JP.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
And of course we've got a lot of NBA playoff
action to get to, plenty of fallout from the NFL
Draft that is still bearing big news.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
How are you today, VJ.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
I'm doing all standing as always, Man, I'm in a
great mood. Like you said, there's a lot going on
in the sports. This past week was bananas in the
NHL playoffs. It was bananas in the in the NBA playoffs.
I mean just so much today. But as always, I
love to say hello to all our Fox Sports Radio
listening fans make because we're so blessed to have you guys.
Speaker 1 (00:52):

Speaker 1 (00:56):
Let's go, man.
Speaker 4 (00:57):
You said we got it like we have like an
audible this.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
Morning well, right off the bat, let's bring him all
right now.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
He of courses are Fox Sports, MLB analysts, NHL analysts.
Whatever we need to talk about, we will share time
with the great John Paul BARROWSI JP leading off today.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
I'll tell you what I.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
Want to get right to it right now, because here
in Los Angeles, the LA Kings are looking for answers
after once again falling to the Edmonton Oilers. After winning
the first two games at home, they end up getting
swept four in a row. It's only the second team
in any sport ever to lose to the same team
four years in a row in the first round of
(01:36):
the playoffs. Did the Kings sign some kind of pack
with the devil after winning that second Stanley Cup in
twenty fourteen, Like, we'll give you this, but you will
never win another playoff series because the fact is they
have never won another playoff series since winning that second
Stanley Cup.
Speaker 5 (01:55):
Well, first of all, good morning out in La Good
afternoon to those of us here in the East your
time zone. You're right, it has been a long few
years for the Kings in the playoffs. But I would
make this point that a lot of teams would lose
to Connor McDavid and Leon dry sidele there is. I
know that it's not the result the Kings fans wanted,
(02:16):
but those two are going to Hall of Fame, and
we saw I think after the first two games, McDavid
and dry title just simply take over that series. That
there are I believe some positive signs for the Kings
going forward. I think that Byfields took a big step
this season.
Speaker 6 (02:35):
I'm a big fan of Kempe.
Speaker 5 (02:37):
There's a lot of things to like, and I still
think Dowdy plays at a very high level for the
Los Angeles Kings, but they are not They're not an
elite team right now in the Western Conference. I think
the elite teams you'd have to say Vegas based on
what they've achieved in recent years. The Oilers are elite.
The Stars, I believe are elite. I suppose we'll see
(03:00):
if after tonight we can still describe the President's Trophy
winning Winnipeg jetson that way based on the up and
down play of Hellibuck in this series, but I don't
think it's anything much more complicated than their young talent
hasn't quite matured enough. I am a big Brent Clark fan.
There's a lot to like again about this King's team,
(03:21):
but they're just a notch below where the best of
the best of the Western Conference are right now, and
they have the misfortune of playing in the same conference
as two of the all time greats in McDavid and
dry Sidles.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
My man, J P. Murosi, Man, how you doing, brother VJ?
Speaker 6 (03:37):
I am outstanding.
Speaker 5 (03:38):
The only way I'd be better is if we were
reliving Game seven between the Knicks and Pistons. That's about
the only way I've been doing better this morning. But
my goodness, if I could be a proud Michigan or
for a moment, It's amazing how with this playoff run,
it's re energized basketball industry is brought back all these
(04:00):
amazing memories of the past teams. And then I think
the city has fallen in love with the personality of
this group. And Kate Cunningham and then Jalen Durhan just
what a great two way player. And then I thought
Asar Thompson did a brilliant job on Brendon. I realized,
you know, it comes down to the last shot and
you lose your footing in a moment like that it's
nobody's fault. I think Osar Thompson they would not have
(04:22):
been in that situation without the great defense he had
played all series long. So big believer in the Pistons.
Trajan Langson, great job, bickerstaff outstanding, and I think the
best has yet to come from these young Pistons.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
All right, so let's stick there. I was gonna go
to the Texas Ranger, of course, but I mean, you're there.
I'm a big Pistons fan. I've been a Pistons fan
since the eighties, since the Bad Boys. Isaiah Thomas has
always been my go along with Kobe Bryant. Understand where
everybody else's goats are, that's fine, but those always been
my guy. So I've been knee deep, waist deep into
Pistons love my entire life of love in basketball.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
I agree with everything he's're saying.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
I had a chance to talk to Trajan Langdon when
they were here playing the Lakers back in December, and
he had this energy off of him.
Speaker 6 (05:00):
Up.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
I know it's not there yet, but damn if we're
not putting together something good. You talk about Jalen durn
That showed, Okay, we got.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
A double double.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
Big guy here who could call some problems in the future,
and he's young. Will love him to work on his hands.
Bubbles the ball a little too much for me, but
you can work on that in the off season through training.
You mentioned k Cunningham. I called him motor Kade Cunnyingham
because the guys just coming down the street like a
motor k man.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
But he's got some things in his game too.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
He needs to find himself a go to bona fide
move that I could go here, get a bucket anytime
I want to. He does not have that yet. All
the other little pieces around you mentioned. We can throw
those names all day, but I want to throw two
names at you and tell me what you think. I
think the Pistols this year in the off season they
need to do one or two things. Either go get
you a stretch four okay, maybe add another defender. And
I remember Ivy was out with the injury. He was
(05:46):
sixteen and seven when he got hurt. Okay, and then
we didn't have no Isaiah Isaiah's stoort. But two names
I'm gonna throw at you. If the Pistons won a
big swing, like they want a free agent whoa, look
what Trajan Lanen and the Pistons are doing.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
Everything.
Speaker 3 (05:59):
He's to be broken up in Phoenix. That thing is done. No,
not Kevin Durant. But I think a guy like Devin
Booker could be a guy that could be trade bait.
And then we also know Joe Dumars is now the
VP of the New Orleans Pelicans and as a gentleman
down there that I think just needs a change of scenery.
It has not worked. You may be to do some
things with him. And as Zion Williams said, which one
would you go? And then where am I too off
(06:22):
on these two names? Or do you got somebody else
out there that you think the Pistons need to go
after this offseason? Or do you just like go getting
stretch for in another defender?
Speaker 5 (06:29):
Guy Booker is the guy for me, thank you. And
of course remember remember where he grew up. I know
one of us, yep, And so I think from that perspective,
I remember at numerous times in recent years I've seen
him out wearing a tiger hat.
Speaker 6 (06:46):
There He's got that.
Speaker 5 (06:47):
Connection still to his roots in Michigan, and I just
think that he could probably replace I'm imagining roughly the
cap hit and the and the lineup spot to what
Smarter Junior had this year. I think Hardaway was good,
but they could probably upgrade a little bit on what
they got from him in the playoffs. I think that
(07:08):
Beasley obviously, he almost single handedly got them to a
to a Game seven with the way that he shot
in the first half of Game six. But I think
Beasley for that role is good. I'm I'm in agreement
that they they missed Stewart at different times, especially when
Duran got into foul trouble. They they were just too
They're a little bit too short.
Speaker 6 (07:27):
In the post I felt to be able to handle
when they had.
Speaker 5 (07:30):
To deal with both Kat and then I thought Heart
played well for the Knicks. I thought an andob At
numerous times in that series was as effective as almost
anybody else in the nixt year.
Speaker 6 (07:44):
And so I feel like he was the guy.
Speaker 5 (07:46):
That didn't really have an answer for and so that's
that's where I would look. I would look for maybe
someone that could be a little bit more of a presence,
a little more length in the in the four and
then bring in Booker and hope that you have a
little better help from from Ivy and Stewart, and you
could find yourself easily playing against the Celtics in a
really big series a year from right now.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
I love hopscotching all over the place right now, I'm
I'm gonna hop Scott's over to baseball right now and
talking about We talked about him last week, but we
have to continue to talk about Aaron Judge right now.
For thirty two batting average. In fact, right now, he
has an eighty three point lead in the Major League
batt I would doubt, as we are sitting here on
(08:27):
May the fourth, be with you May fourth, that anyone
has had an eighty three point lead over any other
hitter in baseball in the batting average category. But that's
where we are right now with Aaron Judge. I mean,
what is he capable of by seasons? Then?
Speaker 1 (08:45):
Assuming obviously helps a big part of it.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
With Judge, He's obviously had a lot of injuries over
the years and maybe have held him back from all
time totals.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
But assuming he stays healthy as he did in twenty
twenty two and in twenty twenty.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
Four, or from what you've seen so far, forget those years,
how far can he take it? Could he actually possibly
sniff four hundred. Is that even possible for a guy
like Aaron Judge.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
I think anything is possible with Aaron Judge. There was
a long time in the game where everybody thought that
sixty one homers would never be passed in the American
League outside of obviously the nineties, And look at what
Aaron Judge did just a couple of years ago. To me,
you look at the context of why I believe he's
got a chance. Number One, because Grisham has emerged, because
(09:39):
they've got Bellinger, he doesn't quite have to play center
field as often as he was in past years, which
I think is a little bit of a lesser toll
on his body.
Speaker 6 (09:48):
So that's good.
Speaker 5 (09:49):
That keeps him a little fresher. And number two, he's
always had a really good sense for the strike zone,
but his swing decisions this year have been next level awesome.
And so when we you can do that kind of
damage and you're almost only ever swinging its strikes hit
aible pitches, you are able to put together historic seasons.
Speaker 6 (10:10):
Now.
Speaker 5 (10:10):
The other thing, too, you'd have to say is that
he understands better than pretty much everybody else in baseball
what it means to chase down history. And obviously the
home run record was one piece of history. A four
hundred batting average would be something else.
Speaker 6 (10:26):
But he's used to it.
Speaker 5 (10:27):
He understands how to handle that pressure. No one would
say it in well, Aaron Judges, No, one's like to
be in the spotlight. No, He's been in the spotlight
every app bat he's ever taken in the Major League,
and so from that perspective, he's very much at ease
when it comes to pursuing history. I love the way
that he's going about things this season. He's one of
my favorite players to watch in the game.
Speaker 6 (10:48):
Clearly, to me.
Speaker 5 (10:49):
He is the best hitter in the sport period. There
is really no argument about that. And what he's doing
right now is right up there with the legends of
the Yankees from any generation. It's Bambino, lu gerrig Mantle, DiMaggio.
They would all love to be in the company of
number ninety nine right now.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
Aaron Judge, JP, I'm gonna stick with baseball, and I
guess I will get me a ranger question there, because
Steve loves when I asked my ranger questions to you.
Sure you know how I love this. I feel the
same way by my Pistons since the eighties. Man God
finally got our worldsors two years ago. Last year kind
of a worldsaters ain't over injuries, and then this year
they come out in this pitching staff as number one
in majors. I mean they are mowing down lineups, going six,
(11:29):
going seven, a.
Speaker 4 (11:30):
Couple of a eight game for a big game, Nate.
But then you turn it.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
You look at the offense seventeenth in home runs, twenty
ninth in RBIs twenty six and batting averages, and they
have the people there. I feel like I got to
pull a Pedro Serrano for Major League and go get
Joe bu and some rum and blow up something in
the locker to get to wake up the bats. What
in the hell is going on with the offense? I
know it's early, but this is unacceptable. What is going
(11:55):
on with the office with the Texas Rangers.
Speaker 5 (11:57):
Well, it's a really important question.
Speaker 6 (11:59):
Of course.
Speaker 5 (11:59):
Last night, a very difficult two to one line to
the Mariners, who are one of the best pitching teams
in Major League Baseball. They've had to rely on, I
think players that weren't necessarily expected to lead the way
You've got Smith who had the bat leadoff last night.
Speaker 6 (12:16):
He's become I think one of the more dependable guys.
Speaker 5 (12:18):
The still relatively young Wyatt Langford is actually having a
great first half. He might be an All Star seeker.
Of course has missed some time, but he's back now.
To me, the big concern is with Josh Peterson and
Marcus Hemion. Those are the two guys that I think
for whatever reason, and with Semeon, he's too young for
me for this to be any kind of an Oh
(12:39):
my goodness.
Speaker 6 (12:40):
Has he lost the conversation.
Speaker 5 (12:42):
Maybe there's an adjustment that has to be made that
he hasn't been able to make yet. But if we're
talking about diagnosing the issue, for me, the issue.
Speaker 6 (12:50):
Is right there.
Speaker 5 (12:51):
And I would also say too, remember what made them
special when they were going to the World Series of
winning it. It was that Adolis Garcia was a dynamic
player that was hitting the ball over the fence all
the time. And last night over four to two strikeouts, he's.
Speaker 6 (13:04):
Got in two oh seven.
Speaker 5 (13:05):
So I would actually probably say that those three names, Peterson, Semeon, Garcia,
they need more from the third of their lineup if
they're going to find a way to compete with what
is right now the best team in the American League,
the Seattle Meriton right very much a pitching a pitching
based organization and with cal Rawley behind the plate with
an a level rotation, even with Logan Gilbert and George
(13:28):
Kirby on the injured list, right now, the Seattle Mariners
best mark and the American League.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
Two names you threw out there just really quick, Seeger
and I'm sorry Peterson and Sammy Peterson batan average zero
point zero nine to nine and my man Marcus one
seventy nine at thirty three played appears games play.
Speaker 4 (13:47):
That's totally unacceptable.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
I agree with you, all right, Well, great stuff is always.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
By the way, you mentioned cal Rawley, who, by the way,
is the leading the only staff that Aaron Judge is
not leading home runs run je Sky's got twelve home
runs already, and the Mariner is gonna try to do
what they weren't able to do and get across the
finish line into the postseason. JP, was great to have
you lead off today. Covering a lot of ground is always.
Thanks so much. Have a wonderful week ahead.
Speaker 5 (14:14):
What a great way to spend the Sunday after doing
my friends. Thank you Steven VJ for the conversation. And
I'm not sure that I'm a very good lead off hitter,
but I really tried that. I appreciate the opportunity as
always to talk a little hockey, oops and baseball.
Speaker 3 (14:26):
You got on base brother, you got an RBI and
you gotta appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
The great job, Paul Morosi. Thanks JP. There he is
all right. Coming up on the other side, we got
a lot to get to. We have a Game seven
today and a Game one in the NBA Playoffs, which
is always an interesting combo as we're already moving on
to the second round, but some of the carnage that
was left behind, Yeah, we got to dig in and
(14:52):
find out what's next for certain teams around the NBA.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
We will break it down for you. This is Fox
Sports Sunday.

always pop up at the top of your screen. So
we have two playoff games today. In the NBA Game
one of the series between the Cavaliers and the Pacers.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
We'll get to that a little bit later on.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
And in the course, we got the huge Game seven
between the Warriors, who thought they had this series wrapped
up up three games to one against the Raw and
now they face the Game seven in Houston. So we'll
get to all that, but we need to sort of
look at the carnage that's been left behind him. There's
plenty of it in the first round of the playoffs.
And of course, the one team getting the most attention
(16:12):
as always and really for good reason this offseason are
the Los Angeles Lakers after their complete meltdown in their
series against the Minnesota Timberwolves. That you know, before the
series of ej most people thought he I am Minnesota
might give him a little problem. Maybe that might win
a couple of games that you know, they're all looking ahead.
Minnesota dominated this series, and then to hear you know,
(16:35):
the Rob Pelinkas and the JJ Reddicks, you know, just
say wow, they were a better team. I'm like, really,
that's funny. Didn't hear that before the series. But it's
certainly proved that way. All right, the guy I want
to start with, we got obviously, we got we got Luca,
we got Lebron. But I have to talk about JJ
Reddick for a second here because a year ago, Darvin
Ham lost in five games in the first round to
(16:58):
the defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets, who by the way,
had home court advantage, and he got fired, fired fire immediately,
like five yared immediately first round five games against the
defending NBA champions who had the home advantage. This year,
JJ Reddick had the home court advantage, they were favored
in their series against Minnesota, and I hear people like
(17:22):
on the Lakers station and they were saying, well, even
with the playoffs, as I got a great for him
f F I mean, I mean, f it goes down
as one of the worst coaching jobs in a playoff
series ever, ever, ever, and that cannot be overlooked. And
(17:42):
then the way he walked up that by the way,
that was my that's my friend, Rashaan Haylot.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
That asked some questions.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
Yeah, so Sean asked him basically the question was this,
did any What he really meant to say was something
along the lines of, hey, when you decided to play
all five starters the entire second half of Game four,
even when he had a ten point league going into
the fourth quarter, did any of your assistant coaches like
tell you, like, that's a mistake. But you know, Rashaun,
(18:09):
he covers the team. He's around the Lakers a lot.
So he's like, so he's like, well, you know, if
you're in a similar situation moving forward, you know, how
much conversation will you have with coaches? Is there someone
to sort of lend in an opposing thought along the line.
And JJ Reddick just had a complete meltdown and walks
(18:31):
off the stage before Game five.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
That's when you knew this is going to be a
long night.
Speaker 2 (18:37):
As they lose at home as sold out crowd at
Crypto dot carm Marena his temperament his ego and it's
immense will not enable JJ Redick to be an elite
coach in the NBA.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
I've made up my mind.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
I had doubts about him before the season, I have
no doubts now. JJ Reddick will never be a successful coach.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
In the NBA.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
Well, as a guy that was there and covered the
entire series, I was in the press room when that happened.
Shout out to my manor Sean Haylock, quick story about him.
You know who got me my very first ever high
school call and give for Fox Sports West. Mister Rashawn
Haylock Wow called me on the Thursday night at nine
thirty and said, are you busy tomorrow? I said why?
He said, do you want to call a high school
football game? It features Kaevon Thibadeau, who was the number
(19:24):
one recruiter.
Speaker 1 (19:25):
I remember that old christ time. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (19:27):
I said when and where? And he texts me and
he goes, just call what you see. I said, I've
never done this before. He goes, You're gonna be fine.
I know who you are.
Speaker 4 (19:34):
Just call what you see. Here's the address, this is
where the game is.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
Anyway, my manor shot at my manor J Sehan Haylo
because I was there and him and I we talked
about this.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
Afterwards.
Speaker 3 (19:43):
I text him, I said, first of all, kudos to
you for having do you know what to ask him that,
because the local guys won't do it. I've been covering
the Lakers all year long. I made it to about
twenty five twenty six games. I can't do forty one.
I do other things. I actually have a life outside
of sports. Right did about twenty five to thirty games.
So I've been in every press, game, every pre every post,
(20:04):
every single.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
One of them.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
And that has really been his temperament that if you
ask him a real fair journalistic reporting question that questions
how great you think you are, because that's what this
comes from. I sat right here in this exact seat,
and when he got hired, I said, this is the
worst pro sports coaching higher I've ever seen. He's never
(20:27):
coached a high school team before, he's never coached an
AAU team before.
Speaker 1 (20:31):
And you not only get an.
Speaker 3 (20:33):
NBA job, you get the most prestigious franchise other than
the Boston Celtics in the history of basketball, other than
the Harlem Globe Trotters, and you get that job what
we knew was all set up sitting there sipping wine
with his good friend Lebron James, talking x's and o's
and I would do this here and now we do
this here, and oh jj Reddick is a is a
(20:54):
candidate to be the Lakers coach after the man literally
sat on TV and disrespected the past. That's greatness of
this league and call people plumbers like you gotta be
kidding me. That pissed me off really bad. One because
Rashan's my friend. But two, no, one you someone had
the guts to actually give you a fair question, and
all you had to do is say, well, maybe I
(21:16):
need to use her. But the way he looked at him,
he goes, yeah, that's a really weird assumption.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
And no, it's not an assumption.
Speaker 3 (21:21):
You didn't play anybody else in the fourth quarter of
Game four. You ran your team ragging and dead, You
kept the starters in, you didn't make any You told
Delly Smith he was a Philly Smith, he.
Speaker 1 (21:31):
Was gonna start.
Speaker 3 (21:31):
He never even started before three minutes before the second half.
He's never started a second half all season one.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
These are fair questions that we get to ask you.
Speaker 3 (21:38):
But you know what this means you were getting I
sat up in the press box and I looked at it.
One of a good friend of mine, the manis Perlock,
and I said, JJ Reddick is getting his ass out.
Speaker 1 (21:45):
Coach so bad.
Speaker 3 (21:46):
And I said in Minnesota coaches that this looks easy
to them. Oh you want to let Rudy Gobert, I
tweeted Rudy Gobert, it's not a twenty seven and twenty
four close out on us.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
Will Chamberlain against Lakers? Did Jackson Hayes do?
Speaker 6 (22:02):
Day?
Speaker 1 (22:02):
What did Jackson Hayes do?
Speaker 8 (22:03):
What?
Speaker 6 (22:04):
How?
Speaker 1 (22:04):
What? What? What secrets does he know?
Speaker 3 (22:07):
Goodness gracious, you decided to not put no One in
the game to try to stop Rudy Go Bear. Twenty
seven and twenty four, two hundred million dollar Rudy go
Bat that's averaging eight points a game, goes down th
to g It's twenty seven o'clocks that.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
Game, sir.
Speaker 4 (22:20):
I hate to blame coaches, I really do, because coaches
don't play.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
They don't block, they don't pass, they don't shoot, they
don't dunk, they don't hit, they don't feel.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
Coaches don't do none of that.
Speaker 3 (22:27):
But you know what they do do They drop the
ex's and nose to prepare those guys that go do
all those adjectives I just named, and it just seemed
like he was just and the postgame was even worse.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
Oh, we're gonna get to the post host.
Speaker 2 (22:38):
We get to the post games there and of course
the press conference afterwards State of the Union. As he
sat there with Rob Polanka, this guy's taking a grave
for himself, a coaching grave. And we'll explain how it's
gonna affect the future of both Lebron and Luca. But
first let's find out what it's trending right now.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
And we are putting off the team that I don't
even know.
Speaker 3 (23:05):
I'm I'm just real fast because I listen, I saw yesterday.
I always think of you and and Mally when I
watched the when I watched the clips, honest, because you
guys that are the only two like real diehards.
Speaker 1 (23:13):
I know I'm gonna make sure.
Speaker 8 (23:15):
We get a lot of diehards. You just don't know that.
Speaker 1 (23:17):
That's what.
Speaker 8 (23:18):
I don't think that there's not.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
Did you see Game six and into it? Don't that
play that it was.
Speaker 5 (23:26):
All?
Speaker 3 (23:26):
But we're gonna make sure that we we're gonna make
sure we hit this other team up in the city today.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
What he should have done.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
I guess see what he paid all expenses for like
one hundred people from the wall twenty people. Uh, it's
so and seated them strategically. I mean, when you have
all the money in the world, you can do whatever
you want to do.
Speaker 8 (23:44):
I would. And the fact that those owners have it
and none of them do it, so at least.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
They don't have I got he's just he could buy
the whole league. Understand that owner. Uh he is.
Speaker 2 (23:55):
I love that guy because he's all in. He's all in,
and that's what you want when going to do whatever
it takes to give it a chance to win.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
They were up five at the end of the first
quarter and then.
Speaker 8 (24:06):
Yeah, yeah, no, I saw it.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
I mean only one of the things you have to
say is, I mean Denver just was not missing.
Speaker 8 (24:15):
That that was true. You got to do so and
six to start the game.
Speaker 9 (24:18):
And that's how we were up by five because we
had a lot of terrible possessions. We weren't protecting the ball,
we weren't hustling. There was no effort. And you know,
if you want to hear more, you're gonna have to
tune into me and carry roads later today because they're gonna.
Speaker 8 (24:30):
Absolutely let it off. But it was it was a.
Speaker 2 (24:38):
Say, embarrassing, pardon embarrassing, it was I thought, I thought
Tylub postgame said it right. I mean, he said, I
really feel bad for these guys that the season has
to end like that because the effort to get here
and everything else they did when he eighteen in the
last twenty one to get there and for it to.
Speaker 1 (24:57):
End like that.
Speaker 9 (24:58):
How you lose matters, No, absolutely, how you lose matters,
get off. But yeah, I mean that that was Yeah.
He fumbled that pass, yeah.
Speaker 3 (25:09):
Which not even not even an opportunity to see if
the ball goes in, are missus?
Speaker 8 (25:15):
I that was heartbreak.
Speaker 9 (25:17):
I would rather lose that way than be blown out
in a game seven because of lack of effort and
trying and heart and energy and everything.
Speaker 4 (25:24):
I fell on the floor. My daughter came and rubbed
my back.
Speaker 6 (25:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (25:26):
No, I that was heartbreaking.
Speaker 9 (25:28):
That was rather heartbreaking than embarrassing than embarrassing, you know.
All right, So today in the NBA, yes, Game one
Eastern Conference at my finals Pacers and Cavaliers, that's going
to tip off at six eastern and then the.
Speaker 8 (25:41):
Two greatest words in sports. Game seven. I'm wearing my
Jimmy Butler shirt.
Speaker 9 (25:44):
Because he does not disappear in the playoffs, unlike some
of the Clippers. The Rockets and the Warriors are gonna
tip off from Houston at eight thirty eastern. Winner go
home a Game seven in the NHL Blues and Jets.
Speaker 8 (25:54):
That puck drops at seven eastern.
Speaker 9 (25:56):
We'll check on to baseball right now, to double header
between the Mets and the Cardinals today, Game one going on.
Speaker 8 (26:01):
They're tied right now.
Speaker 9 (26:02):
In Saint Louis to two bottom of the fourth inning,
but the Cardinals have the.
Speaker 8 (26:06):
Bases loaded, they're down to their final out.
Speaker 9 (26:08):
Jackson Holiday hit a home run for the Orioles and
now they've taken the lead on the Royals two to one.
They're about to start the fourth inning. The Red Sox
have a three to one lead over the Twins. Bottom
of the third. The Padre is trying to complete a
three game sweep of the Pirates and right now.
Speaker 8 (26:22):
They're up for zero. Top of the fourth inning.
Speaker 9 (26:24):
The Rays have scored first against the Yankees, won zero
top of the second.
Speaker 8 (26:27):
This game started on a rain delay.
Speaker 9 (26:29):
The Guardians are edging the Blue Jays one zero, top
of the fourth. The A's on the scoreboard first thanks
to Gio Urshela a two RBI double.
Speaker 8 (26:37):
They're up on the Marlins two zero. Top of the fourth.
Speaker 9 (26:39):
Bryce Harper has homeward for the Phillies, so it's one
zero against the Diamondbacks bottom of the second.
Speaker 8 (26:44):
Positive news out of baseball.
Speaker 9 (26:47):
The man who fell in that Cub's Pirates game from
the twenty one foot wall. Apparently he is awake and alert,
and so that's all really that has been said. He's talking,
but apparently progress seems to be going in the right
direction for that gentleman. And Scotty Scheffler is in the
lead at yes by a lot the see Jacob Byron Nelson.
(27:09):
He is now twenty four under par overall. He just
got going, but he is seven shots ahead of the
next guys.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
So yeah, he had an eight shot league going in
the final round.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
Last time a player had an eight shot league going
in the final round was Rory McElroy at the US Open.
Speaker 1 (27:24):
Oh wow, way back in the day in twenty eleven.
So eight shot lead. He'll be coasting. By the way.
This will be his first win of the season.
Speaker 8 (27:32):
I know, I know, there you go.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
So many has spotted number one in golf.
Speaker 3 (27:36):
Mon's a quick question for you mentioned to Jimmy Butler.
I've always had this thing about Jimmy Butler that I
think he's a really good player. I just never saw
him as a number one for your team to win
a championship. And I know there's this playoff Jimmy like
playoff Paul right, like playoff PG, which never really for
tear logs, but I loved them something the other day.
His postseason career numbers are twenty one, six and four.
Speaker 1 (27:57):
Yeah, how are you played.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
Off somebody at twenty one six and four and you're
the man up until now at g State. You've been
to man Bro. But this idea, I just think that
it kind of got out. I mean he's went with it.
Speaker 2 (28:13):
Okay, he got He got Miami to the finals twice. Yeah,
you know, once in the bubble when very few teams
wanted to be in the bubble, and then obviously the
miracle when they take out the Celtics to get to
the final a couple of years ago.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
I mean, that's that's what happens.
Speaker 2 (28:26):
This is why everything is amplified when you get to
a World Series or get to the Super Bowl or
get to I mean all this. You know, Jalen Hurts
went from like just another quarterback to oh he's one
of the all time legends because he won a super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
Well, he won super Bowl. Super Bowl MVP is not
a legend. But he checked the two boxes. Joeys Blackham
was a Super Bowl MVP, So I mean.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
And he checked two of the boxes that we judge rise.
But I mean, it doesn't suddenly take it to the stretch.
And that's your point. In other words, we're.
Speaker 2 (28:52):
Over overrating the star power of Jimmy Butler.
Speaker 1 (28:56):
But I do believe.
Speaker 2 (28:58):
I mean I thought this until the last couple of
games that Jimmy Butler is a huge difference maker for
Steph Curry because look at Curry. Since Jimmy Butler joined
the Warriors, how much better his game has been.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
All Right, Well, Montsey, thank you very much.
Speaker 4 (29:10):
I just I hit it about Jimmy Butler, like that
really good player.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
Well we're going to find out today.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
We'll find out, will yeah, yeah, Game seven's or swear
it's on the road too, all right, Harbin and Husky
here Fox Sports Sunday, we are in the Fox Sports
radio studios. All right, we're trying to look through the
carnage that is the Lakers. I'm going to move on
to Luca and we've talked about the post gun press
conference in some of the comments made by his coach,
JJ Reddick, who, by the way, even though he said
(29:36):
I expect to get better as a coach, he didn't
actually take any direct blame for anything, by the way,
Phil Jackson didn't, but he had a resume behind it.
You know, you don't have to take blame when you've won,
you know, double digit NBA titles, when you've done nothing
as a rookie coach and have just engineered one of
the worst coaching meltdowns in NBA playoff history.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
To then turn.
Speaker 2 (29:59):
Around and not even I mean, if you're going to
call out the championship conditioning needed by certain players, just
say his name. I mean to me, it's even worse
if he had just said, look, Luka, Doncic is a
great talent, but if we're gonna win a championship, we
need to get him in better shape because we need
(30:20):
him to play an entire season and be able from
a conditioning standpoint to carry us to the playoffs. Instead,
he did one of those Yeah, well, you know, some
guys in the team are in championship shape and some aren't. Well,
who the hell you think you're talking about? So now
you're Luka Doncic. I would love to be Luca that
because you know, in front of the cameras, Luca's very
(30:42):
complimentary about JJ Reddick and you know, Lake and everything else.
He hadn't signed on the dotted line yet. But if
I'm Luca right now, I'm sitting there with with Rob
Halincoln saying all right.
Speaker 1 (30:56):
What is your game plan? Round? What is your game play?
Speaker 2 (31:00):
I am the future of your franchise if I decide
to stay with your franchise. So I got to make
a lot of big decisions. I'm only twenty six years old.
I've already had a coach calling me out, people talking
about my conditioning.
Speaker 1 (31:13):
That's what the last franchise did to me.
Speaker 2 (31:15):
So what is your plan? Tell me your game plan?
Because I want to win a championship. I don't care
what uniform I'm worrying. If you can't put together a
championship caliber team around me, then maybe I should take
my services elsewhere. So that's where we are right now
with Luca only amplified again by just again JJ Reddick.
Speaker 1 (31:37):
He needs to keep his mouth shut.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
Listen, I've enjoyed Lucas since he's been there. I think
Luca's changed this franchise. I've been open and saying this
is not Lebron James's franchise, is not Lebron James's team anymore.
Speaker 4 (31:48):
This is Luca's team. But you can still feel the
Lebron effect.
Speaker 3 (31:50):
There's not a more passive, aggressive, cryptic guy in all
of American sports and the history of American sports than
Lebron James.
Speaker 1 (31:57):
And now you can see us.
Speaker 3 (31:58):
Rubbed off on his coach because Phil Jackson called out Shaq,
Phil Jackson called out Scottie Pippin, Phil Jackson called out
Dennis Ramin. Phil Jackson called out Kobe Bryant. Kobe Bryant
got eliminated. They lost by twenty six, the biggest close
out game finals a deficit ever.
Speaker 1 (32:15):
And when he said at the podium, he said.
Speaker 3 (32:17):
We need to get tougher, we need to get they
and it starts with me, but yeah, pal buying them,
owe them. He said that you could go YouTube the video, guys,
he named. Everybody goes, we all do. We gotta get tougher.
That's what leaders do. Leaders say, Hey, watch me do it.
Bosses and dictators go, you go do this. I learned
(32:37):
that when I was in sales. Real leaders will show you, Hey,
let me show you how to do this. Let me
show you how to approach this customer. Let me show
you how to add a tablet to that cell phone.
Let me show you how to add at a steam
room into this house that these people are trying to build.
Speaker 4 (32:47):
Let me show you. Watch me and I'll show you.
Speaker 3 (32:50):
The Lakers don't have that right now, the Lakers have
I'm Lebron and I got my coach, JJ Reddick. We're
kind of one and the same. We know guys from
Duke can be a little smug, it's nothing new. And
from the Duke basketball program they're head coach is one
of the smuggest head coaches ever in American professional sports.
Speaker 1 (33:08):
And JJ Reddick played for him.
Speaker 3 (33:09):
And when I sat and heard that, if you could
see the eyes in the room, like, bro, who you
want you?
Speaker 6 (33:16):
Just?
Speaker 1 (33:17):
Who are you talking about?
Speaker 7 (33:17):
Bud?
Speaker 1 (33:18):
Who's been carrying this team the last two months? Was
it been Lebron?
Speaker 8 (33:21):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (33:21):
Has it been the ill conditioned Luca?
Speaker 3 (33:23):
This guy's been dropping thirty seven, thirty eight, thirty nine,
forty five, forty one, forty three thirty What are you?
Speaker 1 (33:31):
What are you? Who are you talking to? And if
that's the case, isn't that on you guys?
Speaker 3 (33:35):
Isn't that on you guys that have a conditioning program
together and be able to condition your athletes. You can't
wait for all these guys to just go do it
on their own, because if you do that, half of
them are gonna do it. You have to be like, Okay,
this is our tenor ay for the off season. So
we're gonna train it five thirty, then we're gonna train
a nine o'clock. Do it, and you must beat then
just do it that way. But to sit up there
and say championship, what would that?
Speaker 1 (33:55):
What the hell would you.
Speaker 4 (33:56):
Know about NBA championship conditioning?
Speaker 1 (33:58):
You never played in the NBA finals. Get out of here,
bro leave listen.
Speaker 3 (34:02):
I'm defending Luca because Luca's been Like I said, this
is not a brag ofm just being I've been there.
I'm watching this man literally really carry his team the
last two months and into these playoffs and then the
back and then Lebron we'll.
Speaker 1 (34:14):
Talk about that well.
Speaker 2 (34:15):
And but let me just say this, you know, and
then there's Lebron. We won't give you the truth of
his future. This is Fox Sports Sunday.
Speaker 7 (34:28):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (34:31):
Radio Steve Harvin bj Husky. Here Fox Sports Sunday. We're
live from the Fox Sports Radio studios talking some carnage
after the first round of the playoffs. Although technically we
still have a Game seven today between the Warriors and
the Rockets. Who thought that was gonna happen. We'll have
more on that game a little bit later on, but
we're talking about the Lakers right now. We've talked about JJ,
(34:53):
We've talked about Luca Ounce. Time to talk about Lebron
and as usual and you use the word cryptic, U,
It's it's very accurate when we talk about Lebron James.
Speaker 1 (35:02):
After the game.
Speaker 2 (35:03):
I couldn't believe the one question somebody asked this question
seriously after the game, So where would you rate playing
with your son this year?
Speaker 1 (35:11):
It's all time?
Speaker 2 (35:13):
Who I mean, who is asking that question after you
just choked off a Game five at home? But somebody
is like, so, where would it rate you playing with
Brony this year and immediately he's like, it's the greatest
moment I've had in sports. It out does anything I've
ever done individually playing with my son. So we've been
down this path before with Lebron James where he hems
(35:34):
and hawes about his future with the team, and usually
especially in a contract year. Remember he as a player
option for fifty two million plus. He wants a new
deal or a much better option I think for him
if he serious about playing for another championship team and
a much better deal for the Lakers, they try to
(35:55):
load that fifty two million dollars from their payroll. Us
to turn the page here, I mean, he's got to me.
To me, the best options for Lebron are not trying
to force the Lakers to give him a new deal,
new extended deal for more money that would further cripple
this team from ever getting to where they should be,
(36:15):
and opt out of the deal. Be a free agent.
Look around, hey, Cleveland, my old team. Do you want
helping hand. I'll throw my hat in the ring, or
you know, joining his buddies up there at Golden State
are doing something along the lines or even better than that,
how about just retiring while you're still an elite player.
You know you've already broken all the records. You just
(36:38):
said you had your greatest moment in basketball by playing
with your son.
Speaker 1 (36:41):
That's that's done. That was the final check on the box.
I just I look at this right now. I've been
maintaining we have seen his last game of the Lakers.
I'm still gonna maintain that.
Speaker 2 (36:53):
But when I'm hearing him repeat things that he has
said in the past that led up to forcing the
Lakers to redo his deal and extending his deal, that
makes see a little bit nervous right now. And by
the way, if the Lakers do do that, no chance
of winning a championships because they will have no money
(37:14):
necessary to bring in a big man of consequence on
this rush.
Speaker 3 (37:18):
Yeah, they try to do with Alex Lennon. I laughed
at that sign, and I got called a hater.
Speaker 1 (37:22):
Yeah, I laugh, I laugh.
Speaker 3 (37:23):
All I did was post a story and then like
thirty laugh emojis on my Twitter and everybody's you're hating it.
Speaker 4 (37:28):
Yeah, how much did Alex Lynn play?
Speaker 1 (37:30):
Guys?
Speaker 4 (37:30):
All the people that called VJ hater?
Speaker 2 (37:32):
Yeah no, no, by the way, no did you see
what Polanka was asked about Lennon.
Speaker 1 (37:36):
He goes, well, the coach decides on who plays.
Speaker 3 (37:38):
Yeah, there's no accountability. And that's one of my pet
Pee's man is people that are unaccountable.
Speaker 4 (37:44):
I can't stand them kind of people.
Speaker 3 (37:46):
Stay there, you know what away from VJ if you
do know how to know how to look in the
mirror and be accountab All right, So do Lebron James that,
you know what? I hope he does. You know what
I hope happens. I'm gonna be very cynical right here.
Say make sure you listen. No, baby, this is not
for you, but I I know you'll love this. I
hope Lebron goes into free agency.
Speaker 1 (38:03):
I hope he does.
Speaker 3 (38:04):
I hope he goes in a free agency. I would
I would love to see it because then maybe everybody
that are out in the world, and all the clutch
cronies and all the Lebron fanboys who were willing understand
you guys, did you just used the word elite?
Speaker 6 (38:16):
No?
Speaker 3 (38:17):
The hell he's no, the hell he's not. He's not
an elite player anymore.
Speaker 1 (38:20):
He's a player.
Speaker 3 (38:21):
He's a layup merchant and a jump shooter now off
and on with no real basketball bag. Where's Lebron's moves
at anymore?
Speaker 1 (38:29):
The dog put the tape on.
Speaker 3 (38:30):
It's either I'm gonna just put my head and drive,
or if my jumper's fall out. I even admitted last week,
when this jumper's falling, he's hard as hell to guard
because he's gonna.
Speaker 1 (38:38):
Get the call if he if he drops.
Speaker 3 (38:39):
He was fifteen or eighteen from the free throw line
two games ago, so he's still getting calls for a
guy that said I don't get no calls. And then
people were posting, actually, you're fourth in the league at
free throw at causing free throw TIMPs. Brother, like, like,
who are you trying to fool when we can go
research this stuff. I hope and pray from the basketball
gods above and God Molmighty himself, please let Lebron James
(39:02):
be a free agent, because I guarantee you the line
is not gonna be long for a forty one year
old over the hill on the downside of his career
that parks on the block and won't play a lot
of defense, but wants to still control your franchise and
corrupt your young players and probably make you trade assets
(39:25):
that you have to appease him. Show me where the
hell those owners are gonna be fighting the line of
for a forty one year old that's not a championship
caliber player anymore. I hope he goes into free agency,
but I agree with you. I think Jeanie's gonna crumble.
I think because she starstrug Bro. You saw the video
She's sitting on the bench with him, and ah, huh,
(39:45):
owners don't do that.
Speaker 1 (39:46):
We just talked about Bomber. Bomber does it with the finger.
Speaker 3 (39:49):
Ain't never seen Bomber like sit there like hug up
with players that are sitting out for the night.
Speaker 2 (39:54):
Here's the fact, first sixty two years in the NBA,
the Lakers going back to the Minneapolis States or in
the NBA finals thirty one of sixty two years exactly happen.
Speaker 1 (40:03):
In the last.
Speaker 2 (40:03):
Fifteen years, they've been in the finals once in seven
years with Lebron three times out in the first round twice.
They didn't even make the playoffs last time. A change
if you want different results. This is Fox Sports Sunday
living the dream once again. Here on a fully loaded
Sports Sunday. This is Fox Sports Sunday and We're coming
(40:25):
live from the Fox Sports Radio studios.
Speaker 1 (40:28):
It is a very busy day. Indeed, VJ.
Speaker 2 (40:31):
We're gonna have John Palm Morosi normally in our final
hour leading off the show today as we'll break things
down with JP. And of course we've got a lot
of NBA playoff action to get to, plenty of fallout
from the NFL Draft that is still bearing big news.
Speaker 1 (40:45):
How are you today, VJ.
Speaker 3 (40:47):
I'm doing all standing as always, man, I'm in a
great mood. Like you said, there's a lot going on
in the sports. This past week was bananas in the
NHL playoffs. It was bananas in the in the NBA playoffs.
Speaker 4 (41:00):
I mean just so much today.
Speaker 3 (41:01):
But as always, I love to say hello to all
our Fox Sports Radio listening fans make because we're so
blessed to have you guys.
Speaker 1 (41:06):
VJ.
Speaker 3 (41:06):
Verde Huskins, my man's in e left just introducing big
Fanilla Fuddy, Big Vanilla Sports Talk Poppy. Let's go, man.
You said we got it like we have like an
audible this morning. Well right off the bat, let's bring
him all right now.
Speaker 2 (41:16):
He of courses are Fox Sports, MLB analysts, NHL analysts,
whatever we need to talk about we will share time.
Speaker 1 (41:23):
With the great John Paul Barrows SI JP.
Speaker 2 (41:26):
Leading off today, I'll tell you what I want to
get right to it right now, because here in Los Angeles,
the LA Kings are looking for answers after once again
falling to the Edmonton Oilers. After winning the first two
games at home, they end up getting.
Speaker 1 (41:41):
Swept four in a row.
Speaker 2 (41:43):
It's only the second team and any sport ever to
lose to the same team four years in a row
in the first round of the playoffs. Did the Kings
sign some kind of pack with the devil after winning
that second Stanley Cup in twenty fourteen, Like, we'll give
you this, but you will never win another playoff series,
because the fact is they have never won another playoff
(42:05):
series since winning that second Stanley Cup.
Speaker 5 (42:09):
Well, first of all, good morning out in La Good
afternoon to those of us here in the Eastern time zone.
You're right, it has been a long few years for
the Kings in the playoffs. But I would make this
point that a lot of teams would lose to Connor
McDavid and Leon dry sidle Is.
Speaker 6 (42:27):
I know that it's not.
Speaker 5 (42:29):
The result of the Kings fans wanted, but those two
are going to Hall of Fame, and we saw. I
think after the first two games, McDavid and dry title
just simply take over that series. That there are I
believe some positive signs for the Kings going forward. I
think that Byfields took a big step this season. I'm
(42:49):
a big fan of Kempe. There's a lot of things
to like, and I still think Dowdy plays at a
very high level for the Los Angeles Kings, but they
are not They're not an elite team right now in
the Western Conference. I think the elite teams you'd have
to say Vegas based on what they've achieved in recent years.
The Oilers are elite. The Stars, I believe are elite.
(43:12):
I suppose we'll see if after tonight we can still
describe the President's Trophy winning Winnipeg jetson that way based
on the up and down play of Hellibuck in this series,
but I don't think it's anything much more complicated than
their young talent hasn't quite matured enough.
Speaker 6 (43:31):
I am a.
Speaker 5 (43:31):
Big Brent Clark fan. There's a lot to like again
about this King's team, but they're just a notch below
where the best of the best of the Western Conference
are right now, and they have the misfortune of playing
in the same conference as two of the all time
greats in McDavid and dry sidle.
Speaker 1 (43:47):
My man j P. Murosi Man, how you doing, brother VJ?
Speaker 6 (43:51):
I am outstanding.
Speaker 5 (43:52):
The only way I'd be better is if we were
reliving Game seven between the Nicks and Pistons. That's about
the only way I've been doing better this morning. But
my goodness, if I could be a proud Michigan or
for a moment, It's amazing how with this playoff run,
it's re energized basketball into four has brought back all
(44:14):
these amazing memories of the past teams. And then I
think the city has fallen in love with the personality
of this group. And Kate Cunningham and then Jalen Duran
just a what a great two way player. And then
I thought Asar Thompson did a brilliant job on Brendon.
I realized, you know, it comes down to the last
shot and you lose your footing in a moment like that,
it's it's nobody's fault. I think Osar Thompson they would
(44:36):
not have been in that situation without the great defense
he had.
Speaker 6 (44:39):
Played all series long. So big believer in the Pistons.
Speaker 5 (44:42):
Trading Langsy great job, Bickerstaff outstanding, and I.
Speaker 6 (44:45):
Think the best has yet to come from these young Pistons.
Speaker 3 (44:48):
All right, so let's stick there. I was gonna go
to Texas Ranger questioner, but I mean you're there. I'm
a big Pistons fan. I've been a Pistons fan since
the eighties, since the Bad Boys. Isaiah Thomas has always
been my goal along with Kobe Bryant. Understand where everybody
else's goats are, that's full, but those always been my guy.
So I've been knee deep, waist deep in the Pistons.
Love my entire life of love in basketball. I agree
with everything that's you're saying. I had a chance to
(45:09):
talk to Trajan Langdon when they were here playing the
Lakers back in December, and he had this energy off
of him of I know it's not there yet, but
damn if we're not putting together something good.
Speaker 1 (45:19):
You talk about Jalen durn that.
Speaker 3 (45:21):
Showed, Okay, we got a double double, big guy here
who could call some problems in the future, and he's young.
Will love him to work on his hands, bubbles the ball,
a little too much for me, but you can work
on that in the off season through training. You mentioned
k Cunningham. I called him motor Kade Cunningham because the
guys just coming down the street like a motor k man.
Speaker 1 (45:37):
But he's got some things in this game too.
Speaker 3 (45:39):
He needs to find himself a go to bona fide
move that I could go here, get a bucket anytime
I want to.
Speaker 4 (45:44):
He does not have that yet. All the other little
pieces around you mentioned.
Speaker 3 (45:47):
We can throw those names all day, but I want
to throw two names at you and tell me what
you think. I think the Pistons this year in the
off season they need to do one or two things.
Either go get you a stretch four okay, maybe add
another defender. And I remember Ivy was out with the injury.
He was sixteen and seven when he got hurt. Okay,
and then we didn't have no Isaiah Isaiah's stort. But
two names I'm gonna throw at you. If the Pistons
won a big swing like they want to free agent, whoa.
(46:10):
Look what Trajan Lanen and the Pistons are doing. Everything
needs to be broken up in Phoenix. That thing is done. No,
not Kevin Durant, but I think a guy like Devin
Booker could be a guy that could be trade bait.
And then we also know Joe Dumars is now the
VP of the New Orleans Pelicans and as a gentleman
down there that I think just needs a change of scenery.
It has not worked. You may be able to do
(46:30):
some things with him. And as Zion Williams said, which
one would you go? And then where am I too
off on these two names? Or do you got somebody
else out there that you think the Pistons need to
go after this offseas or do you just like go
getting stretch for in another defender?
Speaker 6 (46:43):
Guy Booker is the guy for me, thank you.
Speaker 5 (46:46):
And of course remember where he grew up right, I
know one of us yep, And so I think from
that perspective, I remember at numerous times in recent years
I've seen him out were in a time there's he's
got that connection still to his roots in Michigan, and
I just think that he could probably replace I'm imagining
(47:10):
roughly the cap hit and the and the lineup spot
to what SmartWay Junior had this year. I think Hardaway
was good, but they could probably upgrade a little bit
on what they got from him in the playoffs. I
think that Beasley, obviously he almost single handledly got them
to a to a Game seven with the way that
he shot in the first half of Game six. But
I think Beasley for that role is good. I'm in
(47:32):
agreement that they they missed Stewart at different times, especially
when Duran got into foul trouble. They they were just
too They're a little bit too short in the post
I felt to be able to handle when they had
to deal with both Cat and then I thought Hart
played well for the Knicks. I thought an Andobt numerous
times in that series was as effective as almost anybody
(47:53):
else in the nixt and so I feel like he
was a guy that Syss didn't really have an answer for.
And so that's that's where I would look. I would
look for maybe someone that could be a little bit
more of a presence, a little more length in the
in the four and then bring in Booker and hope
that you have a little better health from Ivy and
Stewart and you could find yourself easily playing against the
(48:15):
Celtics in a really big series.
Speaker 6 (48:18):
A year from right now.
Speaker 2 (48:19):
I love hopscotching all over the place right now. I'm
gonna I'm gonna hopscotch over to baseball right now, and
we're talking about We talked about him last week, but
we have to continue to talk about Aaron Judge right
now four thirty two batting average.
Speaker 1 (48:33):
In fact, right now, he has an.
Speaker 2 (48:35):
Eighty three point lead in the Major League batt I
would doubt, as we are sitting here on May the fourth,
be with you May fourth, that anyone has had an
eighty three point lead over any other hitter in baseball
in the batting average category. But that's where we are
right now with Aaron Judge. I mean, what is he
(48:57):
capable of by seasons? Then assume obviously helps a big
part of it. With Judge, He's obviously had a lot
of injuries over the years and maybe have held him
back from all time totals. But assuming he stays healthy.
Speaker 1 (49:10):
As he did in twenty twenty two and in twenty twenty.
Speaker 2 (49:13):
Four, from what you've seen so far, forget those years,
how far can he take it? Could he actually possibly
sniff four hundred? Is that even possible for a guy
like Aaron Judge?
Speaker 5 (49:29):
I think anything is possible with Aaron Judge. There was
a long time in the game where everybody thought that
sixty one homers would never be passed in the American
League outside of obviously the nineties, And look at what
Aaron Judge did just a couple of years ago. To me,
you look at the context of why I believe he's
got a chance. Number One, because Grisham has emerged, because
(49:53):
they've got Bellinger, he doesn't quite have to play center
field as often as he was in past years, which
I think a little bit of a lesser toll on
his body.
Speaker 6 (50:02):
So that's good.
Speaker 5 (50:03):
That keeps him a little pressure. And number two, he's
always had a really good sense for the strike zone,
but his swing decisions this year have been next level awesome.
And so when you can do that kind of damage
and you're almost only ever swinging a strike hit aible pitches,
you are able to put together a historic season. Now,
(50:25):
the other thing, too, you'd have to say is that
he understands better than pretty much everybody else in baseball
what it means to chase down history. And obviously the
home run record was one piece of history. A four
hundred batting average would be something else.
Speaker 6 (50:40):
But he's used to it.
Speaker 5 (50:41):
He understands how to how to handle that pressure. No
one would say it in well, Aaron Judges, does no
one's like to be in the spotlight. No, He's been
on the spotlight every app bat he's ever taken in
the Major League, and so from that perspective, he's very
much at ease when it comes to pursuing history. I
love the way that he's going about things this season.
It is one of my favorite players to watch in
the game.
Speaker 6 (51:02):
Clearly, to me.
Speaker 5 (51:03):
He is the best hitter in the sport period.
Speaker 6 (51:06):
There is really no argument about that.
Speaker 5 (51:08):
And what he's doing right now is right up there
with the legends of the Yankees from any generation, whether
it's Bambino, lu gerig Mantle, DiMaggio, they would all love
to be in the company of Number ninety nine right now.
Speaker 3 (51:20):
Aaron Judge, JP, I'm gonna stick with baseball, and I
guess I will get me a ranger question there, because
Steve loves when I asked my ranger questions to you.
Sure you know how I love this too. I feel
the same way by my pistons since the eighties. Man
God finally got our worldsaws two years ago. Last year,
kind of a Worldsair's ain't over injuries, and then this
year they come out in this pitching staff as number
one in majors. I mean they are mowing down lineups,
(51:42):
going six, going seven, a couple of a eight game
for big Game night.
Speaker 1 (51:46):
But then you turn it.
Speaker 3 (51:47):
You look at the offense seventeenth in home runs, twenty
ninth in RBIs twenty six and batting averages, and they
have the people there.
Speaker 1 (51:55):
I feel like I got a pull a.
Speaker 3 (51:56):
Pedro Serrano for Major League and go get Joe bum
Rum and blow up something in the locker to get
to wake up the bats. What in the hell is
going on with the office? I know it's early, but
this is unacceptable. What is going on with the office
with the Texas Rangers.
Speaker 5 (52:12):
Well, it's a really important question, of course. Last night
a very difficult to to one law right to the Mariners,
who are one of the best pitching teams in Major
League Baseball, They've had to rely on, I think players
that weren't necessarily expected to.
Speaker 6 (52:27):
Lead the way.
Speaker 5 (52:27):
You've got Smith, who had the bat leadoff last night.
He's become I think one of the more dependable guys.
The still relatively young Wyatt Langford is actually having a
great first half. He might be an All Star. Seeger,
of course has missed some time, but he's back now.
Speaker 6 (52:40):
To me, the big concern is.
Speaker 5 (52:43):
With Josh Peterson and Marcus Semion. Those are the two
guys that I think for whatever reason, And with Semeon,
he's too young for me for this to be any
kind of an Oh my goodness, has he.
Speaker 6 (52:55):
Lost the conversation.
Speaker 5 (52:56):
Maybe there's an adjustment that has to be made that
he hasn't been able to make yet. But if we're
talking about diagnosing the issue, for me, the issue is
right there. And I would also say two remember what
made them special when we when they were going to
the World Series and winning it, It was that autolist
Garcia was a dynamic player that was hitting the ball
over the fence all the time.
Speaker 6 (53:16):
And last night, oh for four to two strikeouts, he's
got in two oh seven.
Speaker 5 (53:19):
So I would actually probably say that those three names, Peterson, Semeon, Garcia,
they need more from the third of their lineup if
they're going to find a way to compete with what
is right now the best team in the American League,
the Seattle marit Right very much a pitching a pitching
based organization and with cal Rawley behind the plate with
an a level rotation, even with Logan Gilbert and George
(53:42):
Kirby on the injured list right now, the Seattle Mariners
best mark and the American League two names.
Speaker 3 (53:47):
You threw out there just really quick, Seeger and I'm
sorry Peterson and Samon Peterson batan average zero point zero
nine to nine and my man Marcus one seventy nine
at thirty three clayed appearance games played.
Speaker 4 (54:01):
That's totally unacceptable.
Speaker 1 (54:02):
I agree with you, all right, Well, great stuff is always.
By the way, you mentioned.
Speaker 2 (54:06):
Cal Rawley, who, by the way, is the leading the
only staff that Aaron Judge is not leading home runs
run Jie Skuy's got twelve home runs already, h and
the Mariner is going to try to do what they
weren't able to do and get across the finish line
into the postseason.
Speaker 1 (54:20):
JP.
Speaker 2 (54:21):
Was great to have you lead off today. Covering a
lot of ground is always. Thanks so much, have a
wonderful week ahead.
Speaker 5 (54:28):
What a great way to spend the Sunday after doing
my friends, Thank you Steven VJ.
Speaker 6 (54:32):
For the conversation. And I'm not sure that I'm a very.
Speaker 5 (54:34):
Good lead off hitter, but I really tried that. I
appreciate the opportunity as always to talk a little hockey,
hoops and baseball.
Speaker 1 (54:41):
You got on bas brother, you got an RBI, and.
Speaker 5 (54:42):
You gotta appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (54:44):
Ex the great job, Paul Morosi. Thanks JP.
Speaker 2 (54:47):
There he is all right. Coming up on the other side.
We got a lot to get to. We have a
Game seven today and a Game one in the NBA Playoffs,
which is always an interesting combo as we're already moving
on on to the second round, but some of the
carnage that was left behind, Yeah, we gotta dig in
and find out what's next for certain teams around the NBA.
(55:10):
We will break it down for you. This is Fox
Sports Sunday, Harvin and Husky. Here Fox Sports Sunday Live
from the Fox Sports Radio studios. You can stream this
show and all of our Fox Sports Radio shows live
twenty four to seven and the new and improved iHeartRadio app.
Just search Fox Sports Radio on the app to stream
us live. And one of the newest features in the
(55:31):
app is that you can select Fox Sports Radios one
of your presets, just like the presets on a radio dial.
So make sure to preset Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app. It will always pop up at the top
of your screen. So we have two playoff games today.
In the NBA Game one of the series between the
(55:51):
Cavaliers and the Pacers. We'll get to that a little
bit later on. And of course we got the huge
Game seven between the Warriors, who thought they had this
series wrapped up up three games to one against the Rockets,
and now they face the Game seven in Houston. So
we'll get to all that, but we need to sort
of look at the carnage that's been left behind him.
There's plenty of it in the first round of the playoffs.
(56:12):
And of course, the one team getting the most attention
as always and really for good reason this offseason are
the Los Angeles Lakers after their complete meltdown in their
series against the Minnesota Timberwolves that you know, before the
series of ej most people thought I am Minnesota might
give them a little problem, maybe that might win a
couple of games, but you know they're all looking ahead.
(56:34):
Minnesota dominated this series and then to hear you know,
the Rob Pelinkas and the JJ Reddicks, you know, just
say wow, they were a better team.
Speaker 1 (56:42):
I'm like, really, that's funny.
Speaker 2 (56:44):
Didn't hear that before the series, but it's certainly proved
that way. All right, the guy I want to start with,
we got obviously, we got we got Luca, we got Lebron.
But I have to talk about JJ Reddick for a
second here because a year ago, Darvin Ham lost in
five games in the first round to the defending NBA
champion Denver Nuggets, who, by the way, had home court advantage,
(57:05):
and he got fired, fired, fire immediately, like fired immediately,
first round five games against the defending NBA champions who
had the home court advantage. This year, JJ Reddick had
the home court advantage, they were favored in their series
against Minnesota, and I hear people like on the Lakers
station and they were saying, well, even with the playoffs,
(57:27):
as I got a great for him, f F. I mean,
I mean, f it goes down as one of the
worst coaching jobs in a playoff series ever, ever, ever,
and that cannot be overlooked. And then the way he
walked up that by the way, that was my that's
(57:47):
my friend Rashaan Haylot that asked question. Yeah, so Sewan
asked him basically the question was this, did any What
he really meant to say was something along the lines of, hey,
when you decided to play all five starters the entire
second half of Game four, even when he had a
ten point league going into the fourth quarter, did any
of your assistant coaches like tell you, like, that's a mistake.
(58:10):
But you know, Rashaun, he covers the team. He's around
the Lakers a lot. So he's like, so he's like, well,
you know, if you're in a similar situation moving forward,
you know how much conversation will you have with coaches?
Is there someone to sort of lend in an opposing
thought along the line?
Speaker 1 (58:28):
And JG.
Speaker 2 (58:29):
Reddick just had a complete meltdown and walks off the
stage before Game five. That's when you knew this is
going to be a long night as they lose at
home as sold out crowd at Crypto Dot Carmon Marena.
His temperament, his ego, and it's immense will not enable
(58:50):
JJ Reddick to be an elite coach in the NBA.
Speaker 1 (58:54):
I've made up my mind.
Speaker 2 (58:56):
I had doubts about him before the season, I have
no doubts now. JJ Reddick will never be a successful
coach in the NBA well.
Speaker 3 (59:05):
As a guy that was there and covered the entire series.
I was in the press room when that happened. Shout
out to my manorra Sean Haylock, quick story about him.
You know who got me my very first ever high
school call and give for Fox Sports West. Mister Rashawn
Haylock Wow called me on the Thursday night at nine
thirty and said, are you busy tomorrow? I said why?
He said, do you want to call a high school
football game? It features Kaevon Thibadau, who was the number
(59:27):
one recruiter.
Speaker 1 (59:27):
I remember that old Christion time. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (59:29):
I said when and where? And he texts me and
he goes, just call what you see. I said, I've
never done this before. He goes, You're gonna be fine.
I know who you are. Just call what you see.
Here's the address, this is where the game is. Anyway,
my manor shot at my manor, Sean Haylock, because I
was there and him and I we talked about this afterwards.
I texted him, I said, first of all, kudos to
you for having do you know what to ask him
(59:50):
that because the local guys won't do it. I've been
covering the Lakers all year long. I made it to
about twenty five, twenty six games. I can't do forty one.
I do other things. I I actually have a life
outside of sports. But then about twenty five to thirty games.
So I've been in every press, game, every pre every post,
every single.
Speaker 1 (01:00:07):
One of them.
Speaker 4 (01:00:08):
And that has really been his temperament that if you ask.
Speaker 3 (01:00:11):
Him a real fair journalistic reporting question that questions how
great you think you are?
Speaker 4 (01:00:20):
Because that's what this comes from.
Speaker 3 (01:00:21):
I sat right here in this exact seat, and when
he got hired, I said, this is the worst pro
sports coaching higher I've ever seen. He's never coached a
high school team before, he's never coached an AAU team before.
Speaker 1 (01:00:33):
And you not only get an NBA job.
Speaker 3 (01:00:37):
You get the most prestigious franchise other than the Boston
Celtics in the history of basketball, other than the Harlem
glob Drids, and you get that job. What we knew
was all set up, sitting there simp and wine with
his good friend Lebron James, talking x's and no's, and
I would do this here, and now we do this here.
Speaker 1 (01:00:54):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (01:00:55):
JJ Reddick is a is a candidate to be the
Lakers coach after the man literally sat on TV and
disrespected the past greatness of this league and call people
plumbers like you gotta be kidding me. That pissed me
off really bad. One because Rashan's my friend. But two,
no one you someone had the guts to actually give
you a fair question, and all you had to do
(01:01:17):
is say, well, maybe I'll need to use her.
Speaker 4 (01:01:19):
But the way he looked at him, he goes, yeah,
that's a really weird assumption. No, it's not an assumption.
Speaker 3 (01:01:23):
You didn't play anybody else in the fourth quarter of
Game four.
Speaker 1 (01:01:27):
You ran your team ragged and dead.
Speaker 3 (01:01:28):
You kept the starters in, you didn't make any You
told Dilly Smith he was a Philly Smith, he was
gonna start. He never even started before three minutes before
the second half. He's never started a second half all
season one. These are fair questions that we get to
ask you. But you know what this means, you were
getting I sat up in the press box and I
looked at it. One of a good friend of mine
in manis perlog and I said, JJ Reddick is getting
his ass out. Coach so bad, and said in Minnesota
(01:01:49):
coaching staff, this looks easy to them. Oh you want
to let Rudy Gobert, I tweeted, Rudy Gobert, it's not
a twenty seven and twenty four.
Speaker 1 (01:01:58):
Close out on you was shater And again study of Lakers.
What did Jackson Hayes doy? What did Jackson Hayes do?
Speaker 8 (01:02:05):
What?
Speaker 6 (01:02:06):
How?
Speaker 1 (01:02:06):
What? What? What secrets does he know?
Speaker 3 (01:02:09):
Goodness gracious, you decided to not put no One in
the game to try to stop.
Speaker 1 (01:02:13):
Rudy go Bear. Twenty seven and twenty four, two hundred million.
Speaker 3 (01:02:17):
Dollar Rudy go Bat that's averaging eight points a game
goes out against twenty seven o'clos.
Speaker 8 (01:02:21):
That game, sir.
Speaker 3 (01:02:22):
I hate to blame coaches, I really do, because coaches
don't play. They don't block, they don't pass, they don't shoot,
they don't dunk, they don't hit, they don't feel.
Speaker 1 (01:02:27):
Coaches don't do none of that.
Speaker 3 (01:02:29):
But you know what they do do They drop the
x's and nose to prepare those guys that go do
all those adjectives I just named, and it just seemed
like he was just and the postgame was even worse. Oh,
we're gonna get to the post host.
Speaker 2 (01:02:40):
We even get to the post games there and of
course the press conference afterwards State of the Union, as
he sat there with Rober Polanka. This guy's taking a
grave for himself, a coaching grave. And we'll explain how
it's gonna affect the future of both Lebron and Luca.
Speaker 1 (01:02:56):
But first.
Speaker 2 (01:02:58):
Let's find out what it's trending right now. And we
are putting off.
Speaker 1 (01:03:05):
The team that I.
Speaker 8 (01:03:06):
Don't even know.
Speaker 4 (01:03:07):
I'm just real fast because I listen, I saw yesterday.
Speaker 3 (01:03:10):
I always think of you and and Malan when I
watched when I watched the clips, honest, because you guys
are the only two like real die hards.
Speaker 1 (01:03:16):
I know, I'm gonna make sure we.
Speaker 8 (01:03:17):
Get a lot of diehards. You just don't know that
that's what they don't think that there's not.
Speaker 1 (01:03:24):
Did you see Game six and into it? Don't that
play that it was the all?
Speaker 3 (01:03:29):
But we're gonna make sure that we We're gonna make
sure we hit this other team up in the city today.
Speaker 2 (01:03:33):
What he should have done, I guess see what he
paid all expenses for like one hundred people from the wall,
twenty people, uh and so and see to them strategically.
Speaker 1 (01:03:42):
I mean, when you have all the money in the world,
you can do whatever you want to do.
Speaker 8 (01:03:46):
I would. And the fact that owners have it and
none of them do it, so.
Speaker 2 (01:03:51):
They don't have I got he's just he could buy
the whole league understand that.
Speaker 1 (01:03:56):
Uh he is. I love that guy because he's all in.
He's all in. That's what you want.
Speaker 2 (01:04:01):
When's going to do whatever it takes to give it
a chance to win. They were up five at the
end of the first quarter and then.
Speaker 8 (01:04:08):
Yeah, yeah, no, I saw it.
Speaker 2 (01:04:12):
I mean, only one of the things you have to
say is I mean Denver just was not missing.
Speaker 8 (01:04:17):
That that was true.
Speaker 1 (01:04:18):
I mean, you got to.
Speaker 9 (01:04:19):
Do six to start the game, and that's how we
were up by five because we had a lot of
terrible possessions. We weren't protecting the ball, we weren't hustling,
there was no effort. And you know, if you want
to hear more, you're gonna have to tune into me
and carry roads later today because we're going to absolutely let.
Speaker 1 (01:04:33):
It off it.
Speaker 8 (01:04:37):
But it was it was a sa embarrassing pardon embarrassing,
it was.
Speaker 1 (01:04:44):
I thought. I thought Tylub postgame said it right.
Speaker 2 (01:04:47):
I mean, he said, I really feel bad for these
guys that the season has to end. Like that because
the effort to get here and everything else they did
when he eighteen of the last twenty one to get
there and for it to end like that.
Speaker 9 (01:05:00):
How you lose matters, no doubt, absolutely, how.
Speaker 4 (01:05:04):
You lose matters can get a shot off.
Speaker 8 (01:05:07):
But yeah, I mean that that was Yeah he fumbled
that pass.
Speaker 3 (01:05:10):
Yeah, end on not even not even an opportunity to
see if the ball goes in, are missus?
Speaker 8 (01:05:18):
That was heartbreak.
Speaker 9 (01:05:19):
I would rather lose that way than be blown out
in a game seven because of lack of effort and
trying and heart and energy and everything.
Speaker 4 (01:05:26):
I fell on the floor. My daughter came and rubbed
my back.
Speaker 9 (01:05:29):
Yeah, no, I that was heartbreaking. That was rather heartbreaking
than embarrassing. Than embarrassing, you know. All Right, So today
in the NBA, Yes, Game one Eastern Conference at my finals,
Pacers and Cavaliers.
Speaker 8 (01:05:40):
That's gonna tip off at six Eastern and then the two.
Speaker 9 (01:05:43):
Greatest words in sports, Game seven. I'm wearing my Jimmy
Butler shirt because he does not disappear in the playoffs,
unlike some of the Clippers.
Speaker 8 (01:05:50):
The Rockets and the Warriors are gonna.
Speaker 9 (01:05:51):
Tip off from Houston at eight thirty Eastern winner go
home a Game seven in the NHL Blues and Jets.
Speaker 8 (01:05:57):
That puck drops at seven Eastern.
Speaker 9 (01:05:59):
We'll check on to baseball right now, to double header
between the Mets and the Cardinals today, Game one going on.
They're tied right now in Saint Louis to two bottom
of the fourth inning, but the Cardinals have the bases loaded,
they're down to their final out. Jackson Holiday hit a
home run for the Orioles and now they've taken the
lead on the.
Speaker 8 (01:06:14):
Royals two to one.
Speaker 9 (01:06:15):
They're about to start the fourth inning. The Red Sox
have a three to one lead over the Twins. Bottom
of the third. The Padre is trying to complete a
three game sweep of the Pirates, and right now they're
up for zero.
Speaker 8 (01:06:25):
Top of the fourth inning.
Speaker 9 (01:06:26):
The Rays have scored first against the Yankees, won zero
top of the second.
Speaker 8 (01:06:29):
This game started on a rain delay. The Guardians are
edging the Blue Jays one zero. Top of the fourth.
Speaker 9 (01:06:35):
The A's on the scoreboard first thanks to Gio Urshela
a two RBI double.
Speaker 8 (01:06:39):
They're up on the Marlins two zero. Top of the fourth.
Speaker 9 (01:06:41):
Bryce Harper has homwered for the Phillies, so it's one
zero against the Diamondbacks. Bottom of the second positive news
out of baseball. The man who fell in that Cub's
Pirates game from the twenty one foot wall. Apparently he
is awake and alert, and so that's all really that.
Speaker 8 (01:06:58):
Has been said. He's talking. Apparently, progress seems.
Speaker 9 (01:07:01):
To be going in the right direction for that gentleman.
And Scotty Schffler is in the lead at yes by
a lot. The see Jacob Byron Nelson. He is now
twenty four under par overall. He just got going, but
he is seven shots ahead of the next guys.
Speaker 1 (01:07:18):
So yeah, he had an eight shot league going in
the final round.
Speaker 2 (01:07:21):
Last time a player had an eight shot league going
in the final round was Rory McElroy at the US Open.
Speaker 1 (01:07:27):
Oh wow, way back in the day in twenty eleven.
So eight shot lead, he'll be coasting. By the way,
this will be his first win of the season.
Speaker 8 (01:07:34):
I know, I know.
Speaker 1 (01:07:35):
There you go. So many has spotted number one in golf.
Speaker 3 (01:07:38):
Mont's a quick question for you mentioned to Jimmy Butler.
I've always had this thing about Jimmy Butler that I
think he's a really good player. I just never saw
him as a number one for your team to win
a championship. And I know there's this playoff Jimmy like
playoff Paul right, like playoff PG which never really critialize,
but I loved them something the other day. His postseason
career numbers are twenty one, six and four. Yeah, how
(01:08:01):
are you playoff somebody at twenty one six and four
and you're the man up until now at g State,
you've been to man Bro.
Speaker 4 (01:08:11):
But this idea, I just think that it kind of
got out. I mean just went with it.
Speaker 2 (01:08:16):
Okay, he got He got Miami to the finals twice. Yeah,
you know, once in the bubble when very few teams
wanted to be in the bubbles, and then obviously the
miracle when they take out the Celtics to get to
the final a couple of years ago.
Speaker 1 (01:08:27):
I mean, that's that's what happens.
Speaker 2 (01:08:28):
This is why everything is amplified when you get to
a World Series or get to the super Bowl or
get to I.
Speaker 1 (01:08:34):
Mean all this.
Speaker 2 (01:08:35):
You know, Jalen Hurts went from like just another quarterback
to oh he's one of the all time legends because
he won a Super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (01:08:41):
Well he won Super Bowl. Super MVP is not a legend,
but he checks the two boxes.
Speaker 1 (01:08:44):
Joys Blacker was the Super Bowl MVP, So I mean,
and he checked to it the boxes that we judge
quis but.
Speaker 2 (01:08:49):
I mean, it doesn't suddenly take it to the stretch.
And that's your point. In other words, we're over overrating
the star power of Jimmy Butler. But I do believe,
I mean, I thought this until the last couple of
games that Jimmy Butler is a huge difference maker for
Steph Curry because look at Curry. Since Jimmy Butler joined
the Warriors, how much better his game has been.
Speaker 1 (01:09:11):
All Right, well, montse, thank you very much.
Speaker 4 (01:09:12):
I just I hit it about Jimmy Butler, like like
that really good player.
Speaker 1 (01:09:15):
Well, we're going to find out today.
Speaker 2 (01:09:17):
We'll find out will yeah yeah game sevens or swears
on the road to all right, Harbin and Husky Here
Fox Sports Sunday. We are in the Fox Sports radio studios.
All right, we're trying to look through the carnage that
is the Lakers.
Speaker 1 (01:09:30):
I'm going to move on to Luca and.
Speaker 2 (01:09:31):
We've talked about the post gun press conference in some
of the comments made by his coach JJ Reddick, who,
by the way, even though he said I expect to
get better as a coach. He didn't actually take any
direct blame for anything, by the way, Phil Jackson didn't,
but he had a resume behind it. You know, you
don't have to take blame when you've won, you know,
double digit NBA titles, when you've done nothing as a
(01:09:55):
rookie coach and have just engineered one of the worst
coaching meltdowns in NBA playoff history.
Speaker 1 (01:10:00):
To then turn.
Speaker 2 (01:10:01):
Around and not even I mean, if you're going to
call out the championship conditioning needed by certain players, just
say his name. I mean, to me, it's even worse
if he had just said, look, Luka Doncic is a
great talent, but if we're gonna win a championship, we
need to get him in better shape because we need
him to play an entire season and be able from
(01:10:24):
a conditioning standpoint to carry us to the playoffs. Instead,
he did one of those yeah, well, you know, some
guys in the team are in championship shape and some aren't.
Speaker 1 (01:10:35):
Well, who the hell you think you're talking about? So
now you're Luka Doncic.
Speaker 2 (01:10:38):
I would love to be Luca dot because you know,
in front of the cameras Luca's very complimentary about JJ
Reddick and you know Lake and everything else. He hadn't
signed on the dotted line yet. But if I'm Luca
right now, I'm sitting there with with Rob pol Lincoln
saying all right, what.
Speaker 1 (01:10:57):
Is your game plan? Round? What is your game plan?
Speaker 2 (01:11:01):
I am the future of your franchise if I decide
to stay with your franchise. So I got to make
a lot of big decisions. I'm only twenty six years old.
I've already had a coach calling me out, people talking
about my conditioning.
Speaker 1 (01:11:14):
That's what the last franchise did to me. So what
is your plan?
Speaker 2 (01:11:17):
Tell me your game plan, because I want to win
a championship. I don't care what uniform I'm worrying. If
you can't put together a championship caliber team around me,
then maybe I.
Speaker 1 (01:11:29):
Should take my services elsewhere.
Speaker 2 (01:11:31):
So that's where we are right now, with Luca only
amplified again by just again JJ Reddick.
Speaker 1 (01:11:38):
He needs to keep his mouth shut.
Speaker 3 (01:11:39):
Listen, I've enjoyed Lucas since he's been there. I think
Lucas changed this franchise. I've been open and saying this
is not Lebron James' franchise is not Lebron James's team anymore.
This is Luca's team, but you can still feel the
Lebron effect. There's not a more passive, aggressive, cryptic guy
in all of American sports and the history of American
sports than Lebron James. And now you can see's rubbed
off on his coat because Phil Jackson called out Shaq,
(01:12:02):
Phil Jackson called out Scottie Pippen, Phil Jackson called out
Dennis Ramin. Phil Jackson called out Kobe Bryant. Kobe Bryant
got eliminated. They lost by twenty six, the biggest close
out game finals.
Speaker 1 (01:12:14):
A deficit ever.
Speaker 3 (01:12:16):
And when he said at the podium, he said, we
need to get tougher. Yea, we need to get they
and it starts with me, but yeah, pal buying them,
owe them. He said that you could go YouTube the
video guse he named. Everybody goes we all do we
gotta get tougher. That's what leaders do. Leaders say, Hey,
watch me do it. Bosses and dictators go, you go
(01:12:37):
do this. I learned that when I was in the sales.
Real leaders will show you, Hey, let me show you
how to do this. Let me show you how to
approach this customer. Let me show you how to add
a tablet to that cell phone. Let me show you
how to add at a steam room into this house
that these people are trying to build.
Speaker 4 (01:12:48):
Let me show you. Watch me, and I'll show you.
Speaker 3 (01:12:51):
The Lakers don't have that right now, the Lakers have
I'm Lebron and I got my coach, JJ Reddick. We're
kind of one and the same. We know, guys from
Duke can be a little that's nothing new. And from
the Duke basketball program they're head coach is one of
the smuggest head coaches ever in American professional sports.
Speaker 1 (01:13:08):
And JJ Reddick played for him.
Speaker 3 (01:13:10):
And when I sat and heard that, if you could
see the eyes in the room, like, bro, who you
want you?
Speaker 7 (01:13:17):
Just?
Speaker 1 (01:13:17):
Who are you talking about? But who's been carrying this
team the last two months? Was it been Lebron?
Speaker 8 (01:13:21):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (01:13:22):
Has it been the ill conditioned Luca?
Speaker 3 (01:13:24):
This guy's been dropping thirty seven, thirty eight, thirty nine,
forty five, forty one, forty three, thirty What are you?
Speaker 1 (01:13:31):
What are you? Who are you talking to? And if
that's the case, isn't that on you? Guys? Isn't that
on you?
Speaker 3 (01:13:37):
Guys that have a conditioning program together and be able
to condition your athletes. You can't wait for all these
guys to just go do it on their own, because
if you do that, half of them are gonna do it.
You have to be like, Okay, this is our tenor
ay for the off season. So we're gonna train it
five thirty and then we're gonna train it a nine o'clock
doing it and you must beat then just do it
that way. But to sit up there and say championship,
what would that? What the hell would you know about
(01:13:57):
NBA championship?
Speaker 1 (01:13:58):
Condition it? You never played in the NBA finals. Get
out of here, Bro leave listen.
Speaker 3 (01:14:03):
I'm defending Luca because Luca's been Like I said, this
is not a bragtum, just being I've been there. I'm
watching this man literally really carry his team the last
two months and into these playoffs and then the back
and then Lebron we'll talk about.
Speaker 2 (01:14:15):
That well, and but let me just say this, yeah,
you know, and then there's Lebron.
Speaker 1 (01:14:22):
We won't give you the truth of his future.
Speaker 2 (01:14:26):
This is Fox Sports Sunday, Steve Harbin, bj Husky Here,
Fox Sports Sunday. We're live from the Fox Sports Radio
studios talking some carnage after the first round of the playoffs.
Although technically we still have a Game seven today between
the Warriors and the Rockets. Who thought that was gonna happen.
We'll have more on that game a little bit later on,
(01:14:47):
but we're talking about the Lakers right now. We've talked
about JJ, We've talked about Luca Ounce. Time to talk
about Lebron and as usual, and you use the word cryptic,
it's it's very accurate when we talk about Lebron James.
After the game, I couldn't believe the one question somebody
asked this question seriously after the game, So where would
you rate playing with your son this year?
Speaker 1 (01:15:08):
It's all time?
Speaker 2 (01:15:10):
Who I mean, who is asking that question after you
just choked off a Game five at home? But somebody
is like, so where would it rate you playing with
Browny this year? And immediately He's like, It's the greatest
moment I've had in sports. It out does anything I've
ever done individually playing with my son. So we've been
down this path before with Lebron James, where he hems
(01:15:31):
and hawes about his future with the team, and usually
especially in a contract year. Remember he as a player
option for fifty two million plus. He wants a new
deal or a much better option. I think for him,
if he's serious about playing for another championship team and
a much better deal for the Lakers, they try to
(01:15:52):
load that fifty two million dollars from their payroll, he
needs to turn the page here.
Speaker 1 (01:15:58):
I mean, he's got to me.
Speaker 2 (01:15:59):
The best options for Lebron are not trying to force
the Lakers to give him a new deal, new extended
deal for more money that would further cripple this team
from ever getting to where they should be, and opt
out of the deal. Be a free agent. Look around, hey, Cleveland,
my old team. Do you want helping hand. I'll throw
(01:16:22):
my hat in the ring, or you know, joining his
buddies up there at Golden State are doing something along
the lines, or even better than that, how about just
retiring while you're still an elite player. You know you've
already broken all the records. You just said you had
your greatest moment in basketball by playing with your son.
That's that's done. That was the final check on the box.
I just I look at this right now. I've been
(01:16:44):
maintaining we have seen his last game of the Lakers.
I'm still gonna maintain that. But when I'm hearing him
repeat things that he has said in the past that
led up to forcing the Lakers to redo his deal
and extending his deal, that may see a little bit
nervous right now. And by the way, if the Lakers
(01:17:05):
do do that, no chance of winning a championships because
they will have no money necessary to bring in a
big man of consequence on this rush.
Speaker 3 (01:17:15):
Yeah, they try to do with Alex Lennon. And I
laughed at that sign and I got called a hater. Yeah,
I laugh, I laughed. All I did was post a
story and then like thirty laugh emojis on my Twitter
and everybody's like, you're hating it.
Speaker 4 (01:17:25):
Yeah, how much did Alex Lynn play?
Speaker 1 (01:17:27):
Guys?
Speaker 4 (01:17:27):
All the people that called VJ hater?
Speaker 2 (01:17:29):
Yeah, no, no, by the way, no, did you see what
Polanka was asked about Lennon.
Speaker 1 (01:17:33):
He goes, well, the coach decides on who plays.
Speaker 3 (01:17:35):
Yeah, there's no accountability. And that's one of my pet
peas man, is people that are unaccountable.
Speaker 4 (01:17:41):
I can't stand them kind of people.
Speaker 7 (01:17:43):
Stay there.
Speaker 3 (01:17:44):
You know what, away from VJ. If you do know
how to know how to look in the mirror and
be accountable. All right, so does Lebron James that. You
know what, I hope he does. You know what I
hope happens. I'm gonna be very cynical right here. Say
make sure you listen, O baby, this this is not
for you, but I know you'll love this.
Speaker 4 (01:17:58):
I hope Lebron goes into free agent.
Speaker 1 (01:18:00):
I hope he does.
Speaker 3 (01:18:01):
I hope he goes in a free agency. I would
love to see it because then maybe everybody that are
out in the world, and all the clutch cronies and
all the Lebron fanboys who were will understand you.
Speaker 1 (01:18:12):
Guys, did you just used the word elite?
Speaker 6 (01:18:13):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:18:14):
The hell's no, the hell he's not. He's not an
elite player anymore. He's a player.
Speaker 3 (01:18:18):
He's a layup merchant and a jump shooter. Now off
and on with no real basketball back, where's Lebron's moves
at anymore?
Speaker 1 (01:18:26):
The dog put the tape on.
Speaker 3 (01:18:27):
It's either I'm gonna just put my head and drive,
or if my jumper's fall out.
Speaker 1 (01:18:31):
I even admit it last week.
Speaker 3 (01:18:32):
When this jumper's falling, he's hard as hell to guard
because he's gonna get the call if he if he drops.
He was fifteen or eighteen from the free throw line
two games ago, so he's still getting calls for a
guy that said I don't get no calls, And then
people were posting, actually, you're fourth in the league at
free throw at causing free throw tenpts. Brother, like, like,
who are you trying to fool when we can go
research this stuff. I hope and pray from the basketball
(01:18:54):
gods above and God Molmighty himself, please let Lebron James
be a free agent, because I guarantee you the line
is not gonna be long for a forty one year
old over the hill on the downside of his career
that parks on the block and won't play a lot
of defense, but wants to still control your franchise and
(01:19:18):
corrupt your young players and probably make you trade assets
that you have to appease him. Show me where the
hell those owners are gonna be fighting the lineup for
a forty one year old that's not a championship caliber
player anymore. I hope he goes into free agency, but
I agree with you. I think Jeanie's gonna crumble. I
think because she starts struggle. Bro, you saw the video,
(01:19:39):
she's sitting on the bench with him and all hun
owners don't do that.
Speaker 1 (01:19:43):
We just talked about Bomber. Bomber does it with the finger.
Speaker 3 (01:19:46):
You ain't never seen Bomber like sit there like hug
up with players that are sitting out for the night.
Speaker 1 (01:19:51):
Here's the fact.
Speaker 2 (01:19:52):
First sixty two years in the NBA, the Lakers going
back to the Minneapolis States where in the NBA Finals
thirty one of sixty two years. Exactly happy the been
in the last fifteen years, They've been in the finals
once in seven years with Lebron three times out in
the first round. Twice they didn't even make the playoffs.
Time a change if you want different results. This is
(01:20:13):
Fox Sports Sunday.
Speaker 1 (01:20:15):
Living the Dream, Living the dream. Guys. We are living
the dream, living the dream, living the dream, living this dream.
Speaker 2 (01:20:25):
All right, our conversation continues. That's all I can say
right now. This is the thing about Hartman and Husky.
The conversation never.
Speaker 1 (01:20:34):
Ends, never ends, never stop. Just so interrupted by doing
a radio show for right, we got another guy. We
were talking. Okay, we're talking, and he's we're going.
Speaker 2 (01:20:46):
Back and forth a big time here and now we're
going to share some of that with you is once
again we're here at the Fox Sports Radio studios. I
guess we're gonna have tip off here finally of a
basketball game. We got the Pacers and the Cavaliers.
Speaker 1 (01:20:59):
Two o'clock. I think three, What do you think about that? Game? Seven? Man?
That's is this? Well? This is first of all, how
do we get here? I mean the Warriors.
Speaker 2 (01:21:13):
The Warriors after they won Game four celebrated it was done.
Speaker 1 (01:21:17):
They celebrated on the court like they had just won
the series.
Speaker 2 (01:21:21):
And so before Game six, so they go back to Houston,
Houston wins, Okay, now they're going to wrap it up
Game six. So I'm sitting at my TV studios and
one of our producers, who's, you know, usually laying a
few bucks down in games, He goes, what do you
think of the game tonight?
Speaker 1 (01:21:35):
I go, I don't.
Speaker 2 (01:21:36):
I have a I don't have a great feeling about
the Warriors in this game.
Speaker 1 (01:21:40):
And I wasn't gonna say, yeah, they're going to lose.
Speaker 2 (01:21:43):
They did not play well, they didn't play inspired home court,
and you're gonna lose the young Rockets team. And now
you're going to assume what Golden State's gonna go into Houston.
Now Rockets have all the momentum. No one thinks they're
gonna win.
Speaker 1 (01:21:57):
Still, I guess, and where does that put the let's
put it this one. Let me give you another one
of those you know what ifs. So what if the
Warriors lose?
Speaker 3 (01:22:07):
Well, that was the question I text you this morning.
If I I and I like, I likes you guys this,
if you're allowed me, let me get a question.
Speaker 4 (01:22:15):
Then if the Wars lose this game today.
Speaker 1 (01:22:17):
And I've been on.
Speaker 3 (01:22:18):
Record of saying I thought there were three superstars that
are at the end they will never win championships. Again,
I've been saying this for about two years now. Those
three superstars are Lebron James, Kevin Durant.
Speaker 1 (01:22:27):
And Steph Curry distant three.
Speaker 3 (01:22:30):
These are the three guys though of that era from there,
from the early to mid two thousand draft classes, stuff
like four to six oh seven, those draft classes. These
are the last guys. These are these are the last ones.
The rest of the we are retired. Yeah, you know,
these guys are winning more championship now we're on the end.
K Cunningham SGA. These new young stars that have shown
up in the league winby when he gets healthy and
(01:22:50):
saying Curry changed the league, and yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:22:52):
Yeah, I know her.
Speaker 3 (01:22:53):
Curry changed the league. But this, this feels like his
last shot. That's why they went and got Jimmy Butler
to trade that line. This feels like his last shot.
If they go home in seven in the first round,
and listen, you can always say, well, dude, there were
a seven they were supposed to lose to it two.
Speaker 1 (01:23:09):
I mean right, that's the way you're up three to
one in any series.
Speaker 10 (01:23:12):
Ye fine, so post you have Doc Rivers as a coach,
well exactly if you if you got dok as a coach,
but also he did three. Houston is two and a
half point favorite. So the Vegas Vegas things is close
and they picked them. But if the Warriors lose today,
can do we shut the door or never seeing this
franchise that they've already got, they've already gone.
Speaker 1 (01:23:34):
They thought the door was shut before the twenty two Championship.
I came out of nowhere. Do you remember how bad
they were?
Speaker 2 (01:23:39):
Clay Thompson was heard, and all of a sudden they
were one of the worst teams in the league, and
that nobody predicted in twenty two that they were going
to win that champion, Steph.
Speaker 1 (01:23:50):
You could see those Steph did that. Clay came back
from his injury and they weren't inspired.
Speaker 3 (01:23:54):
That was the only championship Steph cried. Steph never cries
at the championship, but that one of the four. He
started crying on the court when it Boston, when they
could see when they they consensed that it was happening.
Speaker 1 (01:24:03):
But they had other guys contribute that year.
Speaker 3 (01:24:05):
Well, I mean they had other guys contribute that year,
but Steph carried him in the finals, not.
Speaker 1 (01:24:09):
To mention final finals MVP. Yeah, exactly, Well what I'm
happy for he didn't.
Speaker 7 (01:24:13):
He didn't.
Speaker 3 (01:24:14):
I mean he I thought he did the Dwayne Wade
move where it's like, Okay, you need this more than
I do. I've won. Look, but the smart leader of me,
I'm still the guys still. But it was never Kevin
Durant's franchise. It was never Kevin Durant's team. But Kevin
Durant was the guy that needed it the most. He
needed to win rings, he needed to win finals.
Speaker 2 (01:24:34):
He's but again, when you say last opportunity going into
these playoffs, did you actually believe the Warriors were a serious.
Speaker 3 (01:24:42):
Contender to Literally when you're twenty four and when you're
I'm sorry, it was twenty five and four since acquiring
Jimmy Butler, seeing them twice at Crypto over the last show.
Speaker 1 (01:24:50):
I mean mostly what we're seeing with this team is
no different than the Clippers. Well, think about it.
Speaker 2 (01:24:53):
I mean, you had everybody healthy, you have everybody coming back.
I mean Butler did have the injury, but he came
back fine. Yeah, and they got momentum going at the
end of the season. All of a sudden, Yeah, I
thought the Clippers get derailed.
Speaker 3 (01:25:04):
You and Monsei both believed that Houston was gonna be
a better first round max up matchup for the Clippers
than the Nuggets. Correct, you're a two seed in the West, right, No,
but you guys thought that, No, you want Houston.
Speaker 4 (01:25:16):
You want to go play Houston. So why would and
I think the Warriors would.
Speaker 1 (01:25:19):
Have a shot.
Speaker 2 (01:25:19):
I think most people, again we were talking about this
on the on the Western Conference side. Why was there
so a lack of respect for both Okase and Houston
is the top two seeds in the conference because they
didn't have the veterans like the Clippers, like the Nuggets,
like the Lakers.
Speaker 1 (01:25:34):
Like the Warriors. I mean, these teams have got names
we've been talking about for years.
Speaker 4 (01:25:37):
They they don't have the talking point.
Speaker 1 (01:25:39):
No, I think the.
Speaker 2 (01:25:40):
Warriors situation, I didn't. I mean the Warriors very similar
to the Lakers, very similar to the Clippers. When you
have longtime veteran players. So when you say last chance opportunity,
it's hard for me to gauge these days about athletes,
like how much gas is left in the tank.
Speaker 1 (01:25:56):
James Harding had his best year in four years, would
you agree?
Speaker 2 (01:26:00):
And four in the last four years? Four years, I
mean since his hey day in Houston. He certainly didn't
play like this in Philadelphia. Remember he had a couple
of playoff games that were decent, but he played. He
really carried this team. He helped develop Zubots into the
player he has become, and he really carried this team
until Kawhi came back.
Speaker 3 (01:26:19):
That's a blond answer for me, because I just don't
want to throw an answer. I would have to go
back and really analyze the last four years.
Speaker 1 (01:26:24):
It was a fan, but it wasn't.
Speaker 3 (01:26:26):
It wasn't a year that made me look at any
point this year and go, wow, look what James Harden's doing,
because I've seen James Harden.
Speaker 5 (01:26:34):
Do more.
Speaker 1 (01:26:36):
Success. Same thing with the Russell Westbrook. Does it diminish
their stature.
Speaker 3 (01:26:42):
It doesn't diminish, but it does have to be put
into the conversation. It has to be put into the
narrative that you never got to a finals, you know,
like Reggie Miller.
Speaker 1 (01:26:49):
I love Reggie Miller, but guess what you never did not.
Speaker 11 (01:26:51):
The championship, you never even played for one, You never
got No Indiana got to the one final, Lakers, Indiana
got one to one and like Barkley like got to
one's like you know, but guys that guys that haven't
gotten like Harden and Westbrook, those two guys, I mean
I would I would take Westbrook's career over Harden's career.
Speaker 3 (01:27:11):
Because of the like triple, the triple time shills MVP,
like you know, I probably would. I probably would take
I probably, yeah, but he didn't have the triple double.
Hard to have the triple double. Scoring titles though aren't hard.
But I think I would take probably Russ's career. But
I do think when it's all said and done, we
do sit back and we look back and we go, hey, man, like,
this is last week. What did I tell you about
(01:27:33):
about and Edwards? I thought that whoever one Game three
was gonna win that series. And we sat in here
last Saturday, last time, I said, listen, you know what
Minnesota could show me in game five. If you're really
that new team coming up, if you're really that squad
coming up, you finished the Lakers in five, you don't
go back because you know you could go back to home. No,
you don't do it that way. If you got him down,
you kick the you know what out of him. And
(01:27:54):
the analogy that I was using with security people and
other journalists at the game the other night was remember
the year the stopped the Lakers three peet run? And
it was the Spurs. And where'd they do it at?
They did it in crypto? And I know you remember
play you have a brain like mine. There was a
play where Bowen took a shot, Duncan got the rebound,
punk fake orient shack up, and then went up and
dunked it, which made it a twenty two point lead.
(01:28:16):
And that's right there is when you start to see
the tears coming down Kobe's face. The tears coming and
it was like, holy you know what. So ninety nine
just wasn't a fluke. This is the next you can
tell you and that's the next young star.
Speaker 1 (01:28:29):
Tim dunk that dude, you know what. The Laker answer
was with the Spurs d fish point four. Next year,
tell you let's run off the court.
Speaker 3 (01:28:37):
Yeah, yeah, that was that was Antonny lost to my
Pistols in the finals. But that's the example that I'm using,
is when you're that next young team coming up, like
you gotta get certain games.
Speaker 2 (01:28:46):
Well, this is what we talk about with why we
were down playing OKC. I mean, we still don't know
about OKAC, Say, nobody living into a conference finals, but
that's one.
Speaker 1 (01:28:55):
We don't know about Cleveland. We don't know about Oka.
Speaker 6 (01:28:57):
See.
Speaker 2 (01:28:57):
I mean, but this was the Chicago Bulls. For years
with Michael Jordan, they couldn't get past the Pistons. He
didn't want a championship till his seventh year in the league,
never got to the finals until his seventh year, seventh year,
seventh year in the U nineteen ninety one, seventh year
in the league, that he gets to his first NBA
finals and wins it. Remember how they lost to the
(01:29:18):
Lakers on their home court in Game one. I'll never
get like Perkins. I mean, yeahs obviously, magine unfortunately Lakers got.
Speaker 1 (01:29:27):
Banged up in that series and everything. But Golden State.
Speaker 3 (01:29:29):
I just I think if it ends the night, Listen,
I'm picking Golden State to win. Let's just get that
out State him to win this game tonight. I think, yes, yes,
because I'm putting it on my guy this listen. Listen, man,
if you want to know, do you have to admit if.
Speaker 2 (01:29:46):
They're going to win this game, then the guy that
you're sort of saying that his status is over and
played at Jimmy Butler, He's gonna step.
Speaker 1 (01:29:53):
But Steph has got to be the guy. They got
to do him.
Speaker 3 (01:29:57):
But I need Stephanie's thirty five brood Jimmy once again,
Jimmy is a really good player, Guys, I just never
seen him be the guy that just really is your one.
Speaker 1 (01:30:05):
Okay, what if he comes up with what if he
is the guy tonight for Golden.
Speaker 3 (01:30:09):
State and it's not step The winning game is not
gonna change my opinion about that.
Speaker 1 (01:30:13):
It just means, hey, you did what the hell you deal?
What the hell they went and got you for him.
Speaker 2 (01:30:17):
Are you are you ready for Cleveland Oklahoma City NBA Finals?
Speaker 1 (01:30:20):
Absolutely?
Speaker 3 (01:30:21):
If you watch both those teams play, it's gonna be
it would be auld the two best teams, great finals.
It would be a great finals if you if you're
a real sports fan and you get away from all
the flip flam and fluff of names and narratives and
talking about by the way, six and seven seeds all
damn year long, that's gonna be a great final.
Speaker 2 (01:30:36):
Now I'm gonna go old school, like Okay, go old
school when people talk about the Cleveland and Oklahoma City
would be a ratings disaster. The nineteen ninety one World
Series was between the Braves and the Twins. We would
both finish in last place the year before nothing zero.
This was an anonymous team. Maddox was even with the
Braids at the time. They had you know, they had
(01:30:57):
Glavin who was a nobody at that time. They had
small nobody at the Kirby Well. It was and the Twins,
and the Twins had won four years before, but it
was like a fluke still to this day, the highest
rated World Series in history. You know why because it
was a great World Series. The home team won every
single game comes down to one nothing, you.
Speaker 1 (01:31:19):
Know, unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (01:31:22):
We'll see sorrow night Jack Morris going against Smoltz in
that game seven, So that could be it. I I hope,
I really would love to see that happen where you
get the Calves and you get Oklahoma City Thunder.
Speaker 1 (01:31:36):
One team won sixty eight games, the other team won
sixty three games, and they go toe to toe and
all of.
Speaker 2 (01:31:41):
A sudden, you know who these guys are, and suddenly
Shay Gills is Alexander's star power.
Speaker 1 (01:31:47):
You like, you see the name, you recognize it.
Speaker 2 (01:31:49):
Have I really seen this guy? And he goes off
for thirty five every single night? And then you see
the All Star due on the back court for the Calves.
Mobley's a big man, unbelievable bench that the Calves have.
That would be phenomenal for the NBA because it would
be fresh air. We don't have to lean on Lebron
and Steph in the same old tired names.
Speaker 1 (01:32:11):
They need to turn the page. And this is the
golden opportunity this year for the NBA to turn the page,
get some new life in this league.
Speaker 3 (01:32:21):
Not quite Oka. See Okay, we can pound on ok see.
We both want them there. Give me Boston though, because
I said yes, yes, yes, because I believe the champion
should like not not give it to them right, not
walk up to the finals, but get there.
Speaker 4 (01:32:35):
I need to see the champion defend. I need to
see the champion defend.
Speaker 7 (01:32:40):
Yeah, I do.
Speaker 1 (01:32:41):
I need to see the champion champion knocked out early.
Speaker 3 (01:32:44):
Like, think about it. When the Bucks won the championship, guys,
and they got knocked out early, we don't respect that
Bucks championship. When the Nuggets won the championship and they.
Speaker 2 (01:32:51):
Got knocked I guess what the same thing's gonna happen.
Look at the Celtics. The Sas were a choke.
Speaker 1 (01:32:57):
Job in the playoffs until they finally broke through last year.
Now we hear him.
Speaker 2 (01:33:01):
They seed in the Eastern Coffee got you don't go
back and defend it game seven and home to the
Miami Heat.
Speaker 1 (01:33:07):
I need, okay, see in the Boston Celtics because you
still have cravel and blow them out of the building.
They won't though, why the court advantage they won that
Boston this year?
Speaker 3 (01:33:20):
The regular season, post season, regular season.
Speaker 2 (01:33:22):
I mean in the Postseasontics are not that they're not
and you'll launch on it. And Jason Tatum what another
lunch lynch do we have?
Speaker 6 (01:33:28):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:33:28):
No, no, we are The last lunch canceled out. It
was Alabama and Duke Yes, okay, whoever wanted that canceled out?
So always Jason Tatum is gimme player, I'm not.
Speaker 1 (01:33:38):
Gonna use great. Is boring? Give me?
Speaker 4 (01:33:40):
Give me why guy say that he is?
Speaker 1 (01:33:42):
He's a boring person. Oh my god, So did you
think Tim you one of those Tim Dunkan guys do
like that? He's too fundamental? He is boring. He was
a phenomenal player, one of the all time greats. Doesn't
make it. No personality, He has no personality. See that's
the problem. Okay, that's the problem right there. You gotta
have person that they do has personality. And people hated him. Well,
(01:34:07):
I didn't hate I didn't hate Charles Mark either.
Speaker 3 (01:34:10):
He was my favorite play when I was a Kid's
the first NBA superstar. My dad ever took me to
see a US arena and Landover.
Speaker 1 (01:34:15):
Was a character. He was great, but people hated him.
Though no one hates.
Speaker 3 (01:34:19):
Tim Duncan, every no one hates Tim Duncan, and no
one hates Jason Tatum, right, they only hate the Celtics.
Speaker 4 (01:34:25):
Yeah, right, right, nobody hates Jason Tatum.
Speaker 1 (01:34:27):
They only hate it. There's nothing to hate about the guy.
Speaker 6 (01:34:29):
Just boring.
Speaker 1 (01:34:30):
That's almost really boring. How many times have I heard
these interviews with Jason Dad bore? Oh my god?
Speaker 2 (01:34:37):
Coming up on the other side, history was made in
the NBA by someone leaving the scene.
Speaker 1 (01:34:44):
What happened to Pop and what is his legacy? We'll
break it down.
Speaker 2 (01:34:49):
This is Fox Sports Sunday, all right, rolling along Hair,
Harbin and Husky on Fox Sports Sunday from the Fox
Sports Radio studios.
Speaker 1 (01:34:58):
Without saying a name. Don't it's in that name again
with me? Don't ever do that.
Speaker 5 (01:35:06):
Now.
Speaker 1 (01:35:06):
I really got people guessing.
Speaker 3 (01:35:07):
That I know you're doing okay, definitely keep it with
you start trouble. So I figured, now we've been doing
Harmey Husky long enough. You you antagonize it. So I'm like, okay,
I got a little least antagonized.
Speaker 1 (01:35:17):
It All fair, that's all all fair. There's love, man,
I love you guys. Are you kidding me? Not personal?
Speaker 2 (01:35:22):
Bro? We're talking sports all right now? Uh, Greg Popovich.
Pop is a very interesting character in the NBA history.
I mean, here are the facts. Facts that are he's
the winningest coach in NBA history. Facts, five championships. Fact
facts he is on the Mount Rushmore of coaches based
on his resume in the NBA.
Speaker 1 (01:35:42):
So that's a fact.
Speaker 2 (01:35:43):
Well, I say, I say this, you got red our box,
you got Phil Jackson's, and then there's Pat Riley.
Speaker 1 (01:35:52):
I mean, think about this. Riley not only one with
the Lakers.
Speaker 2 (01:35:55):
It's say, well, I have sort of handed to him
that type of thing, turn the Knicks around to an
NBA Finals there then won a championship with the Heat.
He's got five I mean, if you're just going on rings.
The only other, By the way, there is one other
coach that has five rings. There's actually five of them.
The other is John Goonla, who is the Minneapolis Lakers
coach who has left off the top fifteen coaches. When
(01:36:16):
they celebrated the seventy fifth anniversary inexplicably and they put
Doc Rivers on that list.
Speaker 1 (01:36:20):
I'm like, really, Doc Rivers, quick hot take up on
Pat Roley.
Speaker 3 (01:36:23):
I just cut a video on disciput on social media
four nights ago when when he got eliminated because of
the way they got embarrassed and got knocked out. I
think good coach, really really good coach. I think Pat
Raley just really fell into a lot. And and listen,
it's not that he's not a good coach, but man,
did the chips kind of fall right for this guy?
Speaker 1 (01:36:40):
They single and by.
Speaker 2 (01:36:43):
The way, as someone that you know had late in
his laker before he left, a relentless ego. I mean, like,
but then Phil Jackson, like I said, if you're going
to coach elite players, your ego has to be on par,
if not greater than their greater than they wont Phil
Jackson or pat Riley. That's that's why they were so
(01:37:05):
good with great players. But again, if you're just based
on championships.
Speaker 3 (01:37:09):
That in the Miami he won, like they were going
to win that championship of usially always feel bad for
Van Gundy.
Speaker 1 (01:37:15):
They were going to get that chip.
Speaker 4 (01:37:16):
Eventually he comes down.
Speaker 1 (01:37:18):
It kind of takes that ring from Van Gundy.
Speaker 2 (01:37:21):
So I asked the olden Polonies yesterday about Popovich, you know,
and I said, why why.
Speaker 1 (01:37:28):
Was he so effected? It's such a weird story.
Speaker 2 (01:37:30):
If you don't know this, he was actually in the
front office of the Spurs and essentially hired himself as
the coach, as the coach.
Speaker 1 (01:37:38):
Was right right around there, so he hired himself to
be the coach.
Speaker 2 (01:37:42):
I don't know if he was thinking it was going
to be something with the last twenty something plus the
years twenty seven years, but at the time, you know,
and then they won that championship that was the Astros
nineteen nine fifty season in ninety nine, and then of
course then it was like every other year three h five,
oh seven and then of course the last one.
Speaker 1 (01:37:58):
So never went back to Ben. But I asked Olden Polinese,
a veteran in the league and played all through that era.
Speaker 2 (01:38:08):
His pop as good as advertised. He goes, here's the
thing about Popovich. He was really a player's coach. You remember,
he got a lot of heat. He was the first
time management guy, right and they got it, you know,
fight and and he basically said, don't worry about them,
don't worry about anybody. He always had the backs of
(01:38:29):
his players and they trusted him. Plus he had a
superstar in Tim Duncan. That would be his foil because
well boring but also but also a foil where he
could come down hard on Duncan. Duncan got it, he
would take it, and then that sets the tone for
everybody else on the team, like if I'm coming after
(01:38:50):
the big guy, you know. And Duncan understood this, and
it worked, and they developed a Tony Parker.
Speaker 1 (01:38:56):
And a Monogennobili and every other great player they had.
I asked the older and I said, well, then what
happened to Kawhi? Why did he bail? And he goes
because he didn't want to play for him?
Speaker 3 (01:39:05):
Do you think coaches and stars kind of get on
the side and say, hey, listen today in the meeting,
I'm gonna rip you.
Speaker 1 (01:39:11):
Well, not all like just back a little, but just
so we can get these other guys. I'll here, here's
here's true. Sorry.
Speaker 2 (01:39:19):
When the Lakers the second round of Championships with Powell
and Kobe with Phil Luke, Walton was the whipping boy
for Phil Jacks.
Speaker 1 (01:39:30):
Oh yeah, yeah, I've heard, I've heard, I've heard it
was but you know, you know, Luke was a guy
that he didn't care he got it right.
Speaker 2 (01:39:42):
This point, Luke was barely even playing like he had
I've never seen a guy get out of a locker
room quicker after a game than Luke Walton.
Speaker 1 (01:39:48):
I swear he was wearing street clothes underneath his sweats,
Like he wasn't even wearing antral jersey. There's no way
you could have gotten down that jersey way anyway.
Speaker 3 (01:39:57):
So he's looking he would We barely got there to
a lot for room to go in and he's already
I just got off the elevator.
Speaker 1 (01:40:06):
What are you doing? Yeah, how do you know why
you got out of a jersey that quickly? Anyway? So,
but my my basic question is this.
Speaker 2 (01:40:13):
You know, when we talk about the value of a coach,
how many coaches really make a difference. I mean, it
really comes down to the players. Uh, you know, like
JJ Reddick said, we have to execute better. Another one
of those type of things. When I hear coaches saying, hey,
we had the perfect game plan, they just didn't execute.
That's when I know you're not a leader, you're not
a coach.
Speaker 1 (01:40:32):
But Pop was that.
Speaker 2 (01:40:33):
And but let me ask you this also because Pop
was also a guy that did not shy away from
social issues that were important to his players, and he
obviously sided with them.
Speaker 1 (01:40:44):
And when you go across that line, your a lely name.
He didn't give a rats.
Speaker 2 (01:40:49):
Ass about that, and that's why and that's why I went, Yeah,
I wasn't always on the same page with Pop, but
I'm just judging him as an NBA coach, no doubt,
one of the all time greats, because he knew how
to coach NBA.
Speaker 1 (01:41:05):
Players, Not only that, he knew how to hire.
Speaker 3 (01:41:07):
Like, think about it, two coaches that are coaching in
the game seven against each other to who did they
come under?
Speaker 1 (01:41:13):
You got Steve Curran? You got? Do you? Guys?
Speaker 4 (01:41:16):
Go back and look at the clips he sat on
that bench for a long time.
Speaker 3 (01:41:19):
Think about the information that that man had to received
and got. People thought Dylan Brooks was done in this league.
Speaker 1 (01:41:27):
I love Houston hiring him Houston, look at this what
happened with him?
Speaker 3 (01:41:31):
Hey, listen, man, everybody deserves a second chance, and he's
kids a second chance. But back to the shador standers
and players getting in trouble, all these other stuff and
getting drafted.
Speaker 4 (01:41:41):
If you can coach you Patino, Hello, And I.
Speaker 1 (01:41:45):
Thought this guy's done in Houston in two years. Look
taking that.
Speaker 3 (01:41:48):
Word, Yes I am, I'm because that's my guy. I'm
riding with my Listen, do I think Houston's gonna win
the game. Yes, I'm picking the Warriors because I'm riding
with my guy. I'm riding with Steph to go give
me a thirty something tonight when I'm sitting on the
couch having a tequila with my two kids to night
and watching the game or a last I need stuff
to give me that to night.
Speaker 1 (01:42:08):
Man.
Speaker 3 (01:42:08):
I need stuff to go get me a game seven
like you did two years ago. Remember in Sacramento when
it put up a fifty burger and got that game
seven out of the three seed Sacramento Kings when they
were the six seed two years ago.
Speaker 1 (01:42:18):
I need that from Steph tonight. Maybe you can answer
this question. All right.
Speaker 2 (01:42:21):
So another coach that obviously has had a lot of
success and is in the argument of the all time
greats is Steve Kerk and he's also been very outspoken
about social issues. For some reason, when it comes out
of his mouth, I cannot stand Steve Kirk. I smug
just comes to my mind every time he speaks. I
(01:42:42):
didn't feel that way about Pop and the early they
were on the same level. You know, I'm being outspoken
about certain things that maybe they You know, most people
are not comfortable with an NBA coach talking about didn't
bother me so much with Pop as it does with
a guy like Steve Kerr.
Speaker 1 (01:42:58):
I cannot We're opposite dance.
Speaker 3 (01:43:02):
Oh and I thought you want to talk smug? Pop
was the guy not only started a little management. Pop
was the guy that started being really smug to the
interview people between.
Speaker 1 (01:43:13):
Quarters and he smugg or was he having fun with that?
I know he wasn't having fun with that. Man a Belichick.
Did you feel like he was Belichick? He was being
kind of smug. Listen, I get it. He didn't want
to do it, but damn it, you don't run the league.
And the league now.
Speaker 3 (01:43:25):
Says, because the TV money and sponsorships and all these
hundreds and hundreds of hundreds of millions and billions of
dollars were making, we now want coaches to give just
say the question between the quarter, don't stand there, So Papavich,
how do you think that?
Speaker 1 (01:43:39):
Blah blah blah. They rebound it more. They did that
like like he was. He did. The Belichick routine got
to the point where do it like Steve Kerr smug.
Speaker 3 (01:43:49):
I love me some cart, don't ask your question. You
do know his story and background, about his parents and his.
Speaker 1 (01:43:53):
Dad, about his dad was murdered. I know, the whole
story political.
Speaker 2 (01:43:57):
Probably it has to go back to his era. I'm
a U c l A guy Arizona U c l A.
You know that those Arizona roots back then. I'm like,
why is this guy? This guy's not that good, and
yet I know he has like one of the highest
three point percentages of all time and every now hard
mug smug I've been saying about the curve forever smug
(01:44:18):
goes hop and you know, I'm a little bit different.
Speaker 1 (01:44:22):
I don't know, but I mean, now that it's all
said and done.
Speaker 2 (01:44:25):
As far as his coach was kind of jerky, man,
come on and curs not, don't they Steve Kurrs jerky?
Speaker 1 (01:44:32):
Jeez, I come on, I think there were many nights
Pop was a jerk. Forget jerky, there were plenty of nights.
I look.
Speaker 3 (01:44:41):
I love coach Papovich. I think he's on the Mount
Rusmore by far. It's not even close top two or
three coaches of all time in basketball.
Speaker 1 (01:44:47):
But Pot was a jerk. Sometimes guys well sometimes yeah,
but he was a jerk. The curs all the time.
I just curs very becoming him.
Speaker 12 (01:44:55):
Yes, come on, sug all right, let's find out what
his trending r Agree, No, no, not when it comes
to Kerr, that's not going to happen.
Speaker 1 (01:45:08):
Break the Top.
Speaker 2 (01:45:08):
Is there any coach mancy that bothers you with their personality?
Not so much what they do as a manager, as
a coach, just like their personality just turns you off?
Speaker 1 (01:45:20):
Nick sab Belichick, I'm.
Speaker 8 (01:45:23):
Sure there is, but not one that comes to mind.
Speaker 9 (01:45:26):
And all I wanted to say is I I love
Greg Popovich pop for president the whole thing.
Speaker 8 (01:45:32):
Do you think you you find cur smug?
Speaker 1 (01:45:35):
Smug? I've always used that word.
Speaker 8 (01:45:37):
Because he's younger, and you know, Greg Popovich like has always.
Speaker 9 (01:45:45):
Been like a like he's to me, he's always looked older, right,
and then Steve Kerr has kind of looked young coming
into the league.
Speaker 8 (01:45:52):
So I wonder if because similar.
Speaker 1 (01:45:57):
Can we be honest here?
Speaker 2 (01:45:58):
Mark Jackson made the splash brothers Mark Jackson basically and
then they handed up well you remember when Luke Walton
took over as an interim coach that anywhere what twenty
four and oh it's not the topic though, Okay, that's
not the get top that's you're right, You're one hundred
percent right. It's nothing about that. I just I just
look at Steve Kerr and a point. The only word
that comes to mind when I see Steve Kerr. I
(01:46:19):
never hear him talk as smug.
Speaker 1 (01:46:21):
No.
Speaker 6 (01:46:21):
I know you.
Speaker 8 (01:46:22):
I know that about you.
Speaker 9 (01:46:23):
I know you're gonna wear UCLA Polo on Sunday, and
I know you hate Steve Kerr And you.
Speaker 3 (01:46:27):
Know what the reason why you bring it up because
here's an analogy, Mansei. It's like the old relative, right, Yes,
it's the old habative who could say whatever they want
is to exactly just go. That's just uncle vi Ja
exactly anti monse literally. But if you're if you're child, yeah,
is that a different cookout and you're not there? Oh god,
this arrogant by are that?
Speaker 5 (01:46:46):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:46:46):
But it's like, yeah, yes, he comes from him or
she comes from her. Yes, they're the same person. It's
just that she's seventy he's forty five. It's like forty
five you're not allowed you're seeing his arrogant or smuck.
Speaker 8 (01:46:59):
But the old person, it's just like.
Speaker 1 (01:47:05):
That's a great point, Kurt was the young guy. You know,
how do you feel about the.
Speaker 8 (01:47:11):
Celtics coach what's his name?
Speaker 3 (01:47:14):
I like Joe Joe Joe, Yeah, but he's thirty, right,
and she also has like away with his.
Speaker 2 (01:47:24):
You know what's interesting? But I've been a Celtic hater
my entire life. We know that too, and I don't
hate any.
Speaker 1 (01:47:31):
Of the Celtics interesting. The current I don't, actually, guys,
I don't even know no on this team. No, I
Jalen Brown. No, it's impossible. I like the way they
put their team together.
Speaker 2 (01:47:42):
I love Brad Stevens, and I's got this organization back.
I will recognize. As much as I hate the Celtics,
how important is for the Celtics to be relevant.
Speaker 1 (01:47:51):
Yes, absolutely, but it doesn't stop me from hating the Celtics, right.
Speaker 8 (01:47:55):
I hate the brand, hate the brand. See all right,
all right, there, there we go, Steve Kurtz. All right, guys,
we're gonna check in on the world of baseball right now.
Speaker 9 (01:48:04):
The Cardinals have defeated them at six five in game
one of their double header, while the Twins edge of
the Red Sox five to four. Xander Bogart's had three
RBIs and the Padres completed a three games sweep of
the Pirates shutting them out four zero, and the A's
edge of the Marlins three to two.
Speaker 8 (01:48:18):
It's the bottom of.
Speaker 9 (01:48:19):
The ninth inning in Baltimore and the Royals have just
defeated It's over. Have just defeated the Ools eleven six.
But here's baseball. Coming into today's game. The Royals had
a major league low eighteen home runs in thirty four games,
and in nine innings in this game, a franchise record
seven home runs. Wow, like, yeah, exactly, it makes no sense,
(01:48:41):
does just base How can you say baseball is romantic?
Speaker 1 (01:48:45):
I mean, it's amazing.
Speaker 2 (01:48:46):
I'm like, we had the game the other night where
the Angels gave up eight runs and the guy had
two home runs in the ninth and that had never happened.
Speaker 5 (01:48:53):
I love.
Speaker 8 (01:48:55):
They're just saying, how can you say baseball is not romantic?
Speaker 9 (01:48:58):
The Rays are beating the Yankee seven two, still in
the Bronx bottom of the eighth inning, Guardians up on
the Blue Jays four to three.
Speaker 8 (01:49:04):
Top of the ninth in Toronto, the.
Speaker 9 (01:49:06):
Phillies scored some more and have cut their deficit to one,
but the Diamondbacks are still up seven to six. Bottom
of the eighth, about to start in Philadelphia, Brewers shutting
out the Cups four zero, top of the ninth. White
Sox are now on top of the Astros five to four.
Top of the seventh inning. The Rangers holding on to
their six to one lead over the Mariners after seven innings.
The Giants are beating the Rockies one zero, bottom of
the third. About to start in San Francisco and the
(01:49:29):
Tigers on the scoreboard first against the Angels one zero.
Speaker 8 (01:49:32):
Top of the second inning. NBA.
Speaker 9 (01:49:34):
Yes, Game one Eastern Conference Semifinals Pacers Calves, that's at
six eastern. Then it's Game seven Rockets Warriors, that's at
eight thirty eastern.
Speaker 8 (01:49:43):
I'm also rooting for the Warriors. That's why I have
my Jimmy Butler shirt on from Miami. I don't have
a Jimmy Butler Warrior shirt yet.
Speaker 9 (01:49:49):
Game seven on the ice between the Blues and the Jets.
That puck drops at seven eastern. At the NASCAR Cup Series.
Out of Where's this one? Out of Texas Motor Speedway,
Austin Sindrick is currently in the lead.
Speaker 8 (01:50:00):
Early on in this race, eighty three eighty three laps in.
Speaker 9 (01:50:03):
Austin Cindric is in the lead and of course Scotty
Scheffler still in the lead thirty underpar overall.
Speaker 1 (01:50:09):
All right, so let's just clarify about this romance and baseball.
Speaker 2 (01:50:12):
So it's an as, I mean, can can watching baseball
create a mood? Yes?
Speaker 3 (01:50:18):
Yes, absolutely absolutely, And that's what I was going to
I was going piggyback because baseball. You're right, it's romantic.
But then sometimes it just leads the money on the
night stand.
Speaker 4 (01:50:29):
Right there, right baseball. But yes, go on to a
Dodger game with you know what, you know, your figure.
Speaker 8 (01:50:35):
Away it does bruh, Dodgers just did night.
Speaker 1 (01:50:40):
I can think back my question, have I had any
romance at a game? And the answer obviously yes.
Speaker 8 (01:50:47):
Obviously the Dodgers, just this past.
Speaker 1 (01:50:49):
Week the game or is that the alcohol? I'm not
quite sure.
Speaker 3 (01:50:53):
There's a lot of couples at Dodger games, you see.
Dodger games are very family oriented.
Speaker 1 (01:50:59):
Like taking the family there all the time and roll
in there.
Speaker 7 (01:51:03):
Bro.
Speaker 1 (01:51:03):
They're all related. Yeah, the kid, I love it.
Speaker 3 (01:51:06):
They all got the big helmet with the nachos, they
all got to drink with the palate, with the with
the what's what's called with the little flavoring around the rim.
Speaker 8 (01:51:13):
The day, the date night they just did. It was
like a special ticket event. If you paid a little extra,
they gave you a blanket.
Speaker 2 (01:51:23):
I was.
Speaker 8 (01:51:26):
Real close. Today we.
Speaker 2 (01:51:31):
Seem to have the kiss cam more at baseball and
basketball games than we do with football games, right, all right,
So when you think about the kiss cans, and we've
seen at baseball games and basketball games, where do you
feel like there's more electricity in the kiss at a
basketball game and kiss camp real quick?
Speaker 1 (01:51:50):
Or baseball? It's not a football games? Yeah, I know
exactly why it's not. Because everyone's throwing, everybody's going.
Speaker 4 (01:51:57):
It's a football games are going when you.
Speaker 2 (01:51:59):
Watch the kiss cam, do you see better makeouts on
a baseball kiss cam or a basketball.
Speaker 1 (01:52:05):
Kiss baseball kiss cam?
Speaker 3 (01:52:06):
Because basketball, I've seen dreamy people like see himself on
the kiss cam and they move.
Speaker 1 (01:52:11):
They are with you supposed to be with shorty, But
in baseball you ain't supposed to be there with shorty.
And you'll take her to a Laker.
Speaker 3 (01:52:17):
Games trying to take her to Dodger game.
Speaker 1 (01:52:21):
You go with wives huns his boy for the garment
leg a game you're with somebody shouldn't be with. Yeah,
a girl.
Speaker 3 (01:52:30):
What is an l a girl gonna be more impressed
with He took me to a Dodger game, and she's
just a sports fan, not a baseball.
Speaker 1 (01:52:36):
Or or he's sports fan, just wants.
Speaker 3 (01:52:39):
To be, just wants to be seeing it took her
to a Laker game. How many times you see that
kiss cam come up and people look up and they go.
Speaker 1 (01:52:45):
Oh, no, no, no, no, no, I'm not or I
saw one, Hoby said, Homie moved his are I.
Speaker 13 (01:52:50):
Was like, yeah, see, he's supposed to be here personal baseball,
more romantic kissing. I agree with that's all right, Thank you, mon.
She don't forget after this.
Speaker 2 (01:53:01):

I can't wait to hear what she has to say
about the Clippers. I'm very I'm locked in, Chris.
Speaker 2 (01:53:42):
I did not want to throw you under the bus.
I thought it was a good over under. But it
created a spark as always.
Speaker 1 (01:53:47):
That's that's that's my entire gig around here is just
weird over unders.
Speaker 2 (01:53:51):
I mean, well that that was one that stunned VJ
that you would even ask, but you Sunday.
Speaker 1 (01:53:57):
I just asked me first. So I think you're your
banking on.
Speaker 14 (01:54:00):
I mean, he's got but like a couple of things
have to happen, right with the with the Browns, He's
got to win over Dylan Gabriel and then Joe Flacco's
probably got to get hurt because otherwise he's buried at
quarterback three going into the air.
Speaker 1 (01:54:12):
By the way, I'm just I'm just genuinely curious.
Speaker 3 (01:54:14):
How I'm riding with Shadra Sanders. I have been from
day one. I'm telling you guys right now. He will
take starter snaps into twenty twenty five NFL regular season
with the Cleveland with with the Cleveland Okay Brown he's
on record, he's on white record, bright.
Speaker 1 (01:54:30):
I love putting it on Wax. Let's go.
Speaker 2 (01:54:31):
And by the way, if you're curious about the apparent
chaos and the show, talk to shit.
Speaker 1 (01:54:37):
He is our producer. He is the guy that basically
orchestrates this entire show. Yeah, it's all me.
Speaker 2 (01:54:43):
If there's things you like about the show, things you
don't like about the show, no, no. If you like
it's like a coach, No, it's like Lebron right, so
fight Lebron. So if it's good, it's all hartman and
husky like like tweet us. Yeah, praise us. If you
don't like something like the producer made us not if
you want still one game.
Speaker 1 (01:55:04):
Not easy, not easy, but he does it. You did
shock me last week you said you still can dunk.
I did think for a second. Now, am I allowed
to value if you try to dunk on me? Did
I see DJ like hugging you Shay last week? Was
that on a tackle? But he did? That was an embrace?
Speaker 3 (01:55:21):
Was I love everybody here? Man, I don't get I
don't get you guys love like like Chris is my guy.
Chris and I've been doing radio together for.
Speaker 1 (01:55:29):
Like seven years. You can do things within the family.
We mess with that.
Speaker 2 (01:55:35):
That happens inside nobody trash nobody inside the house. We
will respond, all right, So let's get some predictions from you.
Speaker 1 (01:55:45):
VJ. Here, what about this ok C Denver series?
Speaker 2 (01:55:48):
Now, I work with a producer that is a die
hard Nuggets all time fan. You know he was in
his full glory with their blowout win last night against
the Clippers.
Speaker 1 (01:55:58):
I I told him last night, you'd be lucky to
get a game in this series Nuggets in six.
Speaker 3 (01:56:04):
I mean I'm saying, okay, see okay, see sorry listening
live listeners out there driving around LA right.
Speaker 2 (01:56:09):
Now, do you think Denver can go into OKAC and
win a game? I know, I think they get I
mean game one is sort of the key, right, Okase
He's been off for a while.
Speaker 1 (01:56:16):
No, yeah, that's dangerous. This team's young. These are young ladies. Man,
he's a young horse.
Speaker 2 (01:56:22):
I mean, you are going against are we? Yo Kich
is the best player in the NBA. He has been
for five years, right, is he not? He's doing things that.
Speaker 1 (01:56:32):
Have never been done before. Three time MVP.
Speaker 2 (01:56:34):
He'll be runner up for the second time, So he's
gonna be three m VPS three two seconds and a
five years.
Speaker 1 (01:56:40):
But he's not a great defender though, so you can't
be the best player and you have to shake Gill
just shut down people.
Speaker 3 (01:56:45):
I think he doesn't shut down, but did not walk in.
He's not a turn turnstyle. He's not Luca on the perimeter.
Speaker 2 (01:56:50):
All right, So I agree with you on Okac, Should
we even talk about Cleveland Indiana?
Speaker 1 (01:56:56):
Okay, Cleveland might sweep them, might I mean?
Speaker 6 (01:56:58):
What might?
Speaker 1 (01:56:59):
For a what do you think about the heat?
Speaker 6 (01:57:02):
Right?
Speaker 1 (01:57:03):
Again?
Speaker 2 (01:57:03):
Not a good team, especially with Jimmy Butler. God, but
you got a Hall of Fame coach on the bench
herek Spolster has been the six NBA Finals, won two
NBA Championships, and he was like flabbergas, like you talk
about being humble.
Speaker 3 (01:57:15):
His team didn't show up and that's why I understand.
But I mean, but Cleveland just put the beatout, just
put it on him that game they were up fifty five.
How is that possible? Bees players?
Speaker 1 (01:57:25):
Tyler here? Okay, all right, let's just but.
Speaker 2 (01:57:28):
Now let's get to an interesting matchup Nicks, Nicklebochus and
so Celtics. All right, So, by the way, that crossover
that Brunson did to set up that that was if
I just can't really quick cole cereal killer that kid. Listen,
it was against my Pistons. And you know what, that's
a learning moment for Thompson.
Speaker 1 (01:57:46):
And that's a great defense. That's a defensive player.
Speaker 3 (01:57:48):
That's but it's a learning moment. Don't lean And when
you go watch the replay, you're leaning way far to
the right.
Speaker 1 (01:57:55):
Agressed.
Speaker 3 (01:57:56):
See Brunson's face in her once he knew he had
a Bruns the kind of game to lip like. And
then I get and then I can actually get a
full second to.
Speaker 2 (01:58:03):
Set up, set up, and then you gotta still put
a whole blooded forty points, all right.
Speaker 1 (01:58:08):
So that being said, I'm picking the Knicks to win
this series.
Speaker 3 (01:58:12):
Oh we gotta put lunch on that. I'm Boston in
six yo. Why are you trying to play the.
Speaker 2 (01:58:17):
Celtics guys like, I think your Pistons we gave this
series away, but they put a serious scare in the
Knicks and forced the Knicks have to go next level.
Speaker 1 (01:58:29):
Really with one guy k was twenty five, eight and
nine in the series. This is a Celtic team that
lost to an eight seed two years ago. I get it,
but this ain't two years ago. They hit all their threes.
Speaker 14 (01:58:40):
That's the that's the thing with bostonna loaded threes exactly.
Speaker 4 (01:58:44):
But you also do need I need a thirty eight
point thirty five games.
Speaker 1 (01:58:51):
Carl Anthony Townsend all this please. Man.
Speaker 4 (01:58:54):
If he ain't hitting his jumper, man, he's marshmallowie man.
Speaker 2 (01:58:57):
Well, I mean that's the same thing you can say
about all the Celtics. Now, the Celtics live and die
with the three point shot period.
Speaker 3 (01:59:03):
But you're talking about a team as opposed to one guy.
Where Karl Anthony Towns don't got no three going, he
is the most wasted bit. He is Rudy Gobert. If
his three points not falling, Carl Anthony Towns is Rudy
gold Bear.
Speaker 2 (01:59:15):
Okay, I'm gonna say this. I'm not the first guy
that actually because I asked Olden this question. He picks
the Knicks as well, and he gave me some interesting reasons.
I'm like, really, Nicks, Nicks, Nicks, Knicks, Knicks Boston.
Speaker 1 (01:59:29):
Really, like you said, I agree with it. He easily
could have lost to the Pistons, all.
Speaker 3 (01:59:34):
Right, So Pistons and six and it was looking it
was looking that way after Game two, really was leaning
that one m up game.
Speaker 1 (01:59:43):
And by the way, we know the Minnesota Timberwolves are there.
Speaker 14 (01:59:46):
By the way, say it again, why wasn't that a
foul in that one game too? Like like Pistons could
have had that one?
Speaker 2 (01:59:51):
Will it mattered between the Warriors and the Rockets. Who
plays the Timberwolves?
Speaker 1 (01:59:55):
Yes? Yes, And how's that cause Steph Curry? Jeez ha,
did I.
Speaker 2 (02:00:02):
Ever mentioned here that Steve Currs smugg hold me down stuff.
Speaker 1 (02:00:06):
Keep it at Fox Sports, right,
