Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio, I just kind
of wonder if you're listening on the West coast, are
people still shooting off fireworks, because it appears that this year,
more than ever, I've seen so many get off my
law and wire, my neighbors still doing this.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
It is electric.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
I don't know what's happened to the world, but I
am here for the contentious content that comes from the
fourth of July that has now led us in to
the fifth of July. And it's a fellas on Fox
Sports Radio hanging out. As you just heard Anthony Gargano
getting a much deserved weekend off, Buck Rising in form
I'm Jason Fitz We're gonna be hanging out.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
We did for the next four hours. Buck.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
How we feel like usually, you know, you come into
Saturdays where the like Anthony comes in and he's got
this signature.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
I can't do he said, good morning, good morning, good morning.
I can't. I can't.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
I don't have that many good mornings. It's not the
it's not there for me. But I'm I, you know what,
I've got enough good mornings to say. How you feeling, buddy,
Because when we last talked yesterday, morning for two bros
and a cup of joe. You were letting the world
know that you know your crotchety. You don't want the crowds,
you know. I think there was some fat shaming to
people in Nashville, Like there's a lot that happened yesterday
and now you went through the fourth of July, Like

(01:08):
are you are you feeling rested and rejuvenated and like
your neighborhood's going to.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Return to its rightful spot?

Speaker 3 (01:14):
Or are we coming in this morning? You know a
little bit a little bit agitated.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
The grumpy mommit.

Speaker 4 (01:20):
I don't think I've ever woke up not agitated. I
know that's not a state of being that I exist in.
Good morning. By the way, I hope everybody had a
wonderful Fourth of July celebration, wherever it was that you
were celebrating, or however it was that you were celebrating
throughout the course of the day and into the evening.

Speaker 5 (01:37):
It is a four h two.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
Am Central time here in Nashville, Tennessee, and people in
my neighborhood are still shooting all fireworks FITSI there were
still people in line at the White Castle on my
drive in this morning. People are still celebrating the fourth
of July, even though here in Nashville it has been
the fifth of July for about four hours.

Speaker 5 (01:59):
No, I mean I made the necessary preparation. Yesterday.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
I told you I didn't want to deal with the fireworks,
told you I didn't want to deal with the crowds.

Speaker 5 (02:07):
I didn't deal with either of them.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
I literally at eight thirty pm last night, I made
my sleepy time tea and I took my I have
a little travel kit that when I go on the
road because I cover an NFL team and I travel
quite a bit.

Speaker 5 (02:22):
I took my little travel kit out.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
I put my ear plugs that I use on a
plane in, I put my eyemask on.

Speaker 5 (02:29):
I got into bed, I put on.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
An episode of The Gilded Age, and I passed the
f out.

Speaker 5 (02:35):
It was glorious. It was as good a Fourth of.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
July celebration as I could have possibly asked for. But again,
I'm a thirty one year old who is actually seventy five.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
Yeah, I love the ear plug part of this, Like
that just feels so on brand for you.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
It is.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
If there's anybody that I've ever worked with it, I
would guess has a sleep mask so he can cover
his eyes and make sure things don't get puffy.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
It's gonna be puck rising and I look to it
or a million of us bre and Mighty Mark are
back in La. And I'll be honest with everybody for
a second.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
The first time I went into the studio in La,
I didn't really like the studio in LA's in the
neighborhood that you know, if you don't know La particularly well,
you feel it feels, you know.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
Listen, I've done plenty of rams or charges games in Englewood. Okay,
I imagine I can imagine the scene.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
Yeah, it's bri Are they like when you hear fireworks
in the studio?

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Are we ducking?

Speaker 3 (03:29):
Like?

Speaker 2 (03:29):
What do we do? Because I mean, I'm just.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
I'm just I'm just asking the questions, Like there's a
little how are we doing with the fourth of July
that has now become the fifth of July back in La.

Speaker 6 (03:39):
There's actually some gunshot holes still on some windows over
here that are like obviously old.

Speaker 7 (03:45):
But yeah, no, I'm used to it. No, it's all
sounds the same.

Speaker 5 (03:48):
I'm sorry, that's a real thing.

Speaker 7 (03:49):
Oh oh yeah, I'll send you a picture.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
Yeah, oh, for sure.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
The first time I left where the well is the studio.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
The studio is great, by the way, but the first
time I left the studio it was again it's all
hours in LA when I've been out there. The first
time I left, they actually had somebody from the building.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
Was like, I'll stand outside with you while you wait
for your uber. It's probably best.

Speaker 7 (04:14):
Like it's not the best, none of the best, you.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Know, it's interesting.

Speaker 5 (04:20):
Am I sheltered?

Speaker 4 (04:21):
I have never once in my life, you know, I'm
I'm I don't think about this is the difference though,
between me and the fair Sex, just generally because like Fancy,
I don't know about you, but anytime I'm out about
or out late at night, or whatever the case may be, like,
I don't think twice about where I am or how
I look, or what I've got on me or any

(04:43):
of these things, because I'm you know, I'm six foot two,
I'm two hundred and twenty pounds today, probably somewhere in
the ballpark, and I you know, I'm not terribly intimidated
by anybody or bothered by anybody that might come up
to me, because I'm you know, hardly anybody comes up
to me that way, not even people who might normally
come up to you in a situation like that. So

(05:05):
am I just am I living in my own bubble
of height privilege that I don't have to think about
these things ever once in my life, no matter what
city I'm in.

Speaker 5 (05:15):
And it sounds like, you.

Speaker 4 (05:16):
Know, I didn't realize the Fox Sports radio studios in
Los Angeles were on skin row.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
Well no, I mean, I will say this book. I
grew up a little kid going into Manhattan all the
time by myself. And you know, when you're going into
Manhattan in the early nineties, that was a much different
thing than going into Manhattan now, like that was a
the late Eaders' early nineties was not a particularly safe time.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
My head's on a swivel all the time.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
I'm one of those people like we can be walking
around in Vegas and I'm like, hey, two blocks behind us,
there's a guy on the left that's making me a
little weird right now.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
That's how I am.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
Like, it's always it's.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Just one of those things, heads on a swivel for
me all the time.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
So yeah, I'm just aware, But I'm also like begging
and pleading. By the way, five nine and a quarter
nine a quarter, not not five nine. Don't take the
extra quarter inch.

Speaker 5 (06:02):
That means five to seven, five to nine.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
I just wait, I just I just wigh in.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
If you use fractions, I subtract, I subtract at least
an inch and a half.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
Wasn't even with my hair. It was just five to
nine in a quarter. I mean the hair might get
me to five to eleven and yeah, and one hundred
and sixty pounds.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
So like, look, we all know soaking wet. Yeah, the
things aren't going to go well for me. Like if
I've I've been mugged twice, once at gunpoint, once at
nine point, so like you know, a gunpoint in Chicago,
knife point in Baltimore. You know, like, look, I'm I'm
over to in life. Like nobody comes up to you
and bothers you because you're six' two and you know

(06:39):
you got a. Beard i'm you, know five nine in
a quarter and clearly can't grow a.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
Beard this is what.

Speaker 5 (06:44):
Happens that was your fourth Of.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
July, Fancy let's let's say turn attention to brighter, things
BECAUSE i don't know if If bri And mark have
been allowed to leave the.

Speaker 5 (06:56):
Studios this is the last time we were on the.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
Air as far AS i, know it's it seems like
they're just chained to the desk in. THERE i hope
that the two of you got to celebrate the fourth
Of july and some former fashion back there In.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
La. Wait, wait the last time we were on air yesterday,
MORNING i was just waxing, about like just going on
and on about how great these two, are And Buck
rising accused me of a lack of. Sincerity and now
we start the show and rest And buck comes in and,
says oh, GOSH i just hope That bree And Mighty
mark have had time to go out and get out

(07:29):
on the floor acting like he cares when.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
WHEN i tried to Bre, bri you better call him out.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
For because, YESTERDAY i, mean pre do you believe that
this is sincere From Buck?

Speaker 6 (07:38):
Rising, Yeah i'm trying.

Speaker 7 (07:43):
TO i, mean he's just a nice thing to.

Speaker 6 (07:45):
Say but you're consistent about you always show us. Love you,
Know buckda hasn't really worked with, us so this is,
nice you.

Speaker 4 (07:52):
Know, yeah but you set a timer as to when
to show. Love you have a regularly scheduled time to dispense.
Love my question was not about the. Sincerity it's just
it means less coming from you when you literally set
an alarm to make sure that you say all manner
of nice things to everybody. Involved WHEREAS i you know
when when attention is due to be, paid or when

(08:14):
compliments are due to be, paid or, kindness whatever the
case may. Be that's, authentic that's, Organic, BABY i don't
set alarms that.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
Way Mighty, mark bake me up, HERE i mean, We Mighty.
Mark come, ON i Think mark's on my, Side, marks
my tag team. Partner i'm reaching to the. Back, well,
NO i just think you could Miss you.

Speaker 5 (08:34):
Didn't want to get on the FaceTime with us this, morning,
GIRL i clearly do with either of.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
Us oh my goll we have covered. Zero back me up.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
Here maybe maybe this feels Like buck is a little rested.
Today so now suddenly because he got the proper sleep last,
night he's just got he's in his.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
FIELDS i don't know if it's, Real Miny.

Speaker 8 (08:52):
Mark buck is showing basic social, skills.

Speaker 5 (08:58):
Which is an improvement for.

Speaker 4 (08:59):
Me mark doesn't know me well enough yet to understand
that that's a big step in the right.

Speaker 8 (09:04):
Direction because, RIGHT i was, Right he's showing basic social. Skills, amen,
brother that's that's. Improvement baby steps one percent better every.
Day Jason Fitz it.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
Was wild to me that as he said, THAT i, thought,
well you know that is growth For. Bucks oh, yeah
that is.

Speaker 4 (09:23):
Amazing normally just snarl at somebody on the other, side,
like let's get through.

Speaker 5 (09:28):
This enough of.

Speaker 8 (09:29):
THIS i don't know whether he's had his coffee, yet
so his basic social.

Speaker 3 (09:33):
Skills do they deliver eighteen dollars coffee In nashville at
four in the morning or do you have to wait
until a particular.

Speaker 4 (09:39):
TIME i set the timer on my espresso maker last
night BEFORE i went to, bed AND i had my, delightful,
homemade probably eighteen dollar cup of coffee ready to go
in my cat dad. MUG i was very happy about
that forward thinking by.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
Me you, KNOW i don't know what to say about
any of. THIS i also don't, look we're going to
get to. SPORTS i promise. You we got a lot
to get to this er, WELL i mean, Yes we're
also not gonna sit here and talk about baseball for
the next four hours because it's fucking eye and that's
the only real sport going. On BUT i will tell
you that we got a lot OF nfl to get.

(10:15):
Into we got a lot of different things on our.
Mind we're gonna get through from THE nba this, week
and yesterday was a hot talk geting, contest AND i
spent time yesterday, saying oh My, GOD i cannot wait for,
this and THEN i realized maybe it's all just.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
Tired i'll explain WHAT i mean.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
Next we're gonna get into some fun things today and
have a great fifth with.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
Of july has so many, Traditions like so much of our,
country it just feels like certain moments are defined by
the traditions we assigned to.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
Them certainly one of those traditions is.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
The hot dog eating, contests and whether you love it
or hate, it talking about it is a tradition on
the fourth Of, july as we talked about, Yesterday i've
been the sideline reporter on it and amazed at what
a phenomenon it.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
Is SO i was.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
Excited yesterday to watch the hot dog eating contest BECAUSE
i have friends that are competing in, it and because
it's such a great. Event and AS i watched, it
it really became clear it's broken and it's no longer
a hot dog eating. Contest it's a hot dog watching
contest or hot dog eating watch, basically where we're watching
one person, dominate and it's happening at such a level

(12:06):
THAT i don't think it's good for what we're seeing.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
Overall he's buck rising.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
On Jason fitz hanging out with, you other fellows On
Fox Sports, radio AND i don't.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
KNOW i Just i'm sitting there watching.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
Yesterday and Watching Joey chestnut return to The Nathan's Hot
Dog Eating. Contest and obviously there are gonna be a
lot of eyes because the question With joey's always is
he going to set a? Record Now vegas always knows
because he consumes seventy and a half hot. Dog so
for any of you degenerates out, there depending on where

(12:35):
you got, it it was what book did? You yesterday
we were talking ABOUT i was gonna hammer the. OVER
i couldn't find anywhere that would let me do that In.
Connecticut you did find somewhere that you could do.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
That how did? That how did that play out for?

Speaker 5 (12:46):
YOU i?

Speaker 4 (12:47):
LOST i took your advice AND i. LOST i lost
money on the hot dog eating. Contest it was the
one way dry placed. Yesterday thank you for your you're all,
knowing all seeing gambling. Advice, also you have friends competing
in THIS i figured you had, friends like as a
part of the television. Broadcast you have people you know
competing in the hot dog eating.

Speaker 5 (13:06):
CONTEST i got.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
To know some of the eaters WHEN i was covering.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
It so like we kept in, touch Like Nick weary
is somebody THAT i talked to all the, time, like
so you, know always room for naked And mickey and his.
Wife mickey absolutely. CRUSHED i, mean she absolutely dominated the
women's side of, this and that, man that's where my
sort of the seed was planted on this thought.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
Process.

Speaker 3 (13:27):
Though look Like mickey didn't even have her best, day
and with a minute to, go it was so clear
that she was dominating that it just even on the
broadcast they were, like, well this one's. Over and then
we Watched joey AND i, mean my, god just look
he fell short of his, record but there wasn't anybody

(13:47):
that was going to be even anywhere close to. Him
And i'm watching it, thinking, look there have been chapters
where the hot dog eating contest was super. Competitive they've
Made netflix documentaries IN espn thirty for thirties about you
know these differ different times Where kobayashi and like they've
got these different great.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
Eaters this isn't that.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Time so now what you have is just every year
they might as well just Put mickey And joey up
on stage.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
And just say how many hot dogs can they?

Speaker 3 (14:14):
Eat because there's no contest to, it and, that to,
me long term just becomes sort of. Concerning if you
love the, tradition somebody else is going to have to step.

Speaker 2 (14:22):
Up because otherwise this thing has gotten boring and.

Speaker 4 (14:24):
FORMULAIC i love that the vast majority of sports talk
radio shows around the country today will spend their time
trying to fix.

Speaker 5 (14:31):
Baseball but, no not. Us we're going to fix.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
The hota hota.

Speaker 4 (14:34):
Contest the things that, matter the things That america cares.

Speaker 5 (14:38):
About.

Speaker 4 (14:38):
Baby but this this is an interesting it's an interesting
conversation because you could flesh it out to any level
of competition, theoretically where there's one dominant entity for the
vast majority of whatever that competition, Is and how much
is the health of the sport actually benefiting when there's
just one, thing one, team one person dominating writ large

(15:01):
the way That Joey chestnut has for so many years
at this, point and it was.

Speaker 5 (15:05):
Just fun to see him. Back so let me let
me spin it.

Speaker 4 (15:08):
Around this way fits because to, me it's not it's
not been a, contest even though it is supposed.

Speaker 5 (15:15):
To be a.

Speaker 4 (15:16):
Contest Right, like if you are watching this, event it's
to Watch Joey, chestnut, like that's just what it. Is
and in the years, Past kobyashi and Obviously Joey chestnut
has been doing this for a considerable amount of, time
but there have been people who came before him who
also had a run of.

Speaker 5 (15:32):
Dominance but it was really just about the.

Speaker 4 (15:34):
Main guy or gal participating in this particular. Event the
rest of them feel like they have an opportunity to
have their platform. Elevated so it benefits them in some
way because they're on AN espn two broadcast On july,
fourth and, yeah they're going to lose To Joey, chestnut

(15:54):
but at least you get some level of eyeballs on
these other people who have to do other things throughout
the course of their day to day and cannot just
exist individually as professional. Either SO i do think that
there is some benefit to the rest of the people
on THE i, mean for lack of a better, term
on the dais they're shoveling hot dogs and buns into their,

(16:16):
face and for the rest of, it it's just about the.

Speaker 5 (16:22):
Spectacle it's not really about the, sport because.

Speaker 4 (16:24):
How many of us are seeking out professional eating competitions
other than to look up records on a regular basi
and be like that person ate how many cheeseburgers or
how many gallons of lemonade or all these other ancillary
things that they do around the main, event which is
The nathan's famous hot dog eating.

Speaker 3 (16:41):
Contests, yeah AND i think what becomes kind of interesting
to me on this is that the people behind the
hot dog eating contest can't have it both, ways like
they try and trot out, like, Oh Joey chestnut the
greatest champion in all of. Sports, Right so if you're
gonna make these grandiose claims about what a great athlete
is for the amount of hot dogs he, eats which

(17:02):
is fine if that's if that's the roads you want
to go, down then ALL i want you to do
is be.

Speaker 2 (17:06):
Consistent if you have any.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
Sport in the world where one team wins every single
year and nobody else is even remotely, competitive where last
year's winner in without, uh Without, JOEY i think eight
forty eight and a half, yesterday so last year's winner
lost by twenty Something, like if you're going to trot
out a completely non competitive product every single year and

(17:29):
you're going to tell us how great the champion is
of that. Product like you're closer TO wwe at this
point than you are to an actual.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
Sport if that's the way you're gonna play, it.

Speaker 5 (17:38):
And that okay, Though like that's that's.

Speaker 4 (17:40):
Okay like WWE's a huge, product a huge. Commodity NOW
i understand that everybody goes INTO wwe or professional wrestling
that way with some understanding that these results were.

Speaker 5 (17:56):
Predetermined then you're.

Speaker 4 (17:58):
Going, to, uh you're going to see whatever, storylines whatever
narratives they've written on the day for.

Speaker 5 (18:04):
The theater of.

Speaker 4 (18:05):
It, Right it's funny to COMPARE wwe to the, theater but
there it is a different kind of theater that. WAY
i don't understand why Hot Dog eating can't be viewed
in the same, lane because they're both. Spectacles you're both
you understand the results almost nine times out of ten
of what's gonna play itself, out but you still enjoy

(18:25):
it because it's there's tradition involved in.

Speaker 5 (18:28):
It there are.

Speaker 4 (18:30):
Things about it that whether YOU i don't, know like
what kind of crowd does this thing? Draw fits it
because they show the crowd On, Yeah i'm sure it's
a huge. Deal like people probably in that part of the,
country go out of their way if they've never been,
before at least you go once to go take in
the sights and sounds of The Nathan's famous Hot Dog eating, Contest,
LIKE i just think there's okay with us. Understanding, yeah

(18:53):
one dude's gonna, dominate and that person is going to
dominate in every sense of the.

Speaker 5 (18:57):
Word, right you said.

Speaker 4 (18:58):
That the next closest Guys champion lost by damn near
twenty full. Disclosure right and watch the hot dog eating.
Contest it makes me, Sick.

Speaker 5 (19:05):
BUT I i just you're not.

Speaker 2 (19:08):
Alone oh, no.

Speaker 4 (19:10):
SURE i LIKE i physically feel unwell watching, Them, LIKE
i just He's Joey. Chestnuts how old he's in his?
Forties he's forty? ONE i think forty. One, Yeah Joey
chestnut forty. One LIKE i just thought watching that and
being LIKE I i appreciate you for what it is
that you. DO i appreciate your place in the world of.

(19:30):
COMPETITORS i hope to never have to physically witness live your.
Situation the only Time i've watched it live is when somebody,
said turn the hot dog eating contest on right. Now
somebody just rushed the stage And Joey chestnut just beat him.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
Up, YEAH i was like five feet from that where
it happened and didn't even see.

Speaker 2 (19:49):
It that's how many jolks slam.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
There, yeah, Chokeslam, like that's how many people were. There
and to be, FAIR i had no idea how polarizing
hot dog eating contest UNTIL i. Was there are plenty
of people out there That, like the MINUTE i got
tagged in a, broadcast it, was oh my, god, like
we we live in a world where there are people
everywhere that, are you, know starving and can, eat and

(20:11):
you know these people are gratuitously wasting food.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
And blah blah blah blah. Blah, YEAH i gotta get.

Speaker 5 (20:17):
THAT i get that a little. Bit, AGAIN i understand
WHAT i would.

Speaker 4 (20:22):
NOT i would not lob that complain at somebody like
that wouldn't be the first thought that crossed my.

Speaker 5 (20:26):
Mind BUT i understand the. CRITICISM i, mean.

Speaker 2 (20:31):
Yeah, fine, yes there's probably a value to defend you.

Speaker 5 (20:34):
Fatties go.

Speaker 4 (20:34):
AHEAD i took them out yesterday at The july fourth.
Celebration go, ahead defend.

Speaker 3 (20:38):
Them i'm just Gonna i'm just, saying, like how many
hot dogs do we think are eating my? People that
probably don't need hot dogs at stadiums and arenas every single.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
Year let's count those up To, LIKE i, Mean i'm
the in the.

Speaker 3 (20:50):
Elitists now this, Morning i'm the cranky one And buck
is the happy.

Speaker 2 (20:53):
ONE i don't know what has happened to this role,
Reversal like we're the odd couple at this.

Speaker 4 (20:57):
POINT i need earplugs that made all the difference in the.
WORLD i slept like a.

Speaker 3 (21:01):
Baby oh my, god it. Is this is amazing for.
ME i just worry about long, term you. KNOW i
think you've got to always have sort of who the
other guy. Is the failing of golf in so many
ways is that it's not. Failing BUT i guess one
of the things about, golf let's say it that, way
is that it reached such a high With tiger, that you,

(21:24):
know as much as golf guy wants the world to
care about the other, personalities the world. Doesn't and that's
just being, honest and it drives golf guy. Crazy and
Golf guy will inevitably tweet me and be, like if
you don't like these, personalities you're not, trying, brother and it's,
like you're, Right i'm. NOT i am not trying to
sit down and watch. Golf i'm not ever going to
sit down and watch golf like. It if The masters

(21:47):
is on in a bar AND i have to sit through,
it that's the CLOSEST i come to watching. Golf SO
i am the, ultimate Like tiger was better than, everybody
and nobody else matters BECAUSE i just don't care about
any of these. People Like that's that's what sort of
over into. Everything so WHEN i see the hot dog eating,
Contest i'm, like is this really a?

Speaker 2 (22:03):
Contest or is this just like every year they should
just trot Bad lands.

Speaker 3 (22:07):
Out let him drink as much lemonade as he can
as quickly as he. Can then Let mickey eat as
many hot dogs as you, can and Let joey eat
as many hot dogs as he, can and just.

Speaker 2 (22:16):
Let everybody else have the day. Off it's just it
doesn't feel contest.

Speaker 3 (22:20):
Worthy and a lot of those eaters are actually really
successful at other. Things they just get their asses kicked
on National it's like, again it's it is like, wrestling
like back in the, eighties you have all these matches
nobody watched and.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
Then you do pay per.

Speaker 3 (22:31):
Views this is that, Equivalent like you got guys and
girls out there that are winning, tweaking twinkie eating contests
and chicken wing eating contests and all these things only
to be the you, know the slaughter that when they
go out on stages like here you, go go get
your buck kicked By.

Speaker 2 (22:44):
JOEY i just don't see what's interesting about it.

Speaker 4 (22:46):
Anymore as long as they're having a good, time, like
it doesn't bother.

Speaker 5 (22:50):
Me you know What i'm. Saying LIKE I i just
think some things and you're you're.

Speaker 4 (22:55):
Wrong you're just dead wrong about. GOLF i think golf
is such an exciting. Sport if you, please do you
play Gott? No, Okay, well LIKE i get stened.

Speaker 2 (23:08):
And drive the, carts that's All i'm.

Speaker 4 (23:10):
Going oh, sure AND i get stoned and slice it,
off you, know slice it off the. Tee Like i'm
not any great, golfer BUT I i. WILL i play
enough and poorly enough THAT i just appreciate the degree
of difficulty of what it is that these guys are,
doing AND i have. More maybe this is this is
HOW i. Age Like i've just in the last couple

(23:30):
of years started putting on more golf On sundays and
just having it on in the. Background WHILE i work
on other things and things like, That i'm not locked,
in AND i haven't got so far as to bet.

Speaker 5 (23:39):
GOLF i feel like that would be a difficult.

Speaker 4 (23:41):
Proposition there are smarter people than me that are tracking
it on a more granular. Basis BUT i do think
that there is excitement in it if you are somebody
who plays the sport and you.

Speaker 5 (23:50):
Appreciate tam that it's it's hard under normal.

Speaker 4 (23:53):
Circumstances look at how easy and routine these guys make,
it just as you do when you watch, basketball when
you watch football or anything like, that even if you
end up just yelling why didn't you catch that ball
when a defender is screaming in a wide receiver's, head,
like it's just so easy to catch that ball over
the middle with the Hot dotti eating. Contest AND i
think it's as simple as THIS fitsi BECAUSE i do

(24:14):
have some other things THAT i want to get to
in this. SEGMENT i think you just have to take
it for what it, is AND i think there are certain.

Speaker 5 (24:20):
Things in sports that are just going to.

Speaker 4 (24:23):
Exist in perpetuity the the way that they. Are we
talked a lot yesterday on two pros and A cup
Of joe about the tradition of college football and how
college football fans feel a bit threatened in today's modern
day and age because the sport is evolving and the
fan base the crux of the fan, base, right the

(24:44):
real diehards that live and breathe and eat and sleep
this stuff like in my part of the, country in
the sec that they don't want to, adapt they don't
want change because they like things the way that they
are perfectly there does not have to an evolution of
the hot dog eating contest if the competitors are fine
to you, know lose by twenty To Joey chestnut each

(25:07):
it every. Year i'm good with. That i'm completely fine with.
THAT i bet not a single person In america thought
we could get twelve and a half minutes out of
fixing the hot dog eating. Contest but damned if we
haven't done it this.

Speaker 5 (25:19):
Morning well that's.

Speaker 3 (25:21):
Beautiful i'll tell you later WHY i just don't play.
Golf there's a very specific reason why don't play.

Speaker 5 (25:26):
Golf but why can't you tell us? Now what else
were we gonna?

Speaker 2 (25:29):
Do you had things you wanted to get, to.

Speaker 4 (25:30):
So H i got, TOP i, said you, know it's
a little more of a serious, topic.

Speaker 5 (25:34):
AND i don't want.

Speaker 4 (25:35):
TO i don't want to just drown people in sadness
at my four point thirty three in the, morning my.

Speaker 2 (25:40):
Time, okay here's the thing with.

Speaker 3 (25:43):
GOLF i like things in my life THAT i can
work diligently at and anticipate the.

Speaker 2 (25:50):
Result so for me growing up a classical.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
Musician the part of WHAT i loved there is that
you knew if you spent hours and hours and, hours
you can get better at this one. Thing you could
get more sise at this one, thing and then you
can expect a certain level of quality of musicianship every
single TIME i, Play LIKE i know IF i haven't
played in six, MONTHS i know How i'm gonna play
WHEN i pick it.

Speaker 2 (26:10):
Up, like even after all these, YEARS i Love i've learned.

Speaker 3 (26:14):
To ALTHOUGH i hate going to the, GYM i love
the results because they're very predictable to. ME i know
IF i do the right things exactly what will happen
to my. Body LIKE i like knowing these. Things the
problem with golf is that even the best in the
world that's been hours and hours and hours and hours
and hours a day working on, it that are committed
in ways that none of us could ever.

Speaker 2 (26:33):
Imagine one day they're great and the.

Speaker 3 (26:35):
Next day they're so so like the first thing you
have to ask somebody when they, say like if your
buddy walks Up tod and, says, OH i had to
pick up basketball game.

Speaker 2 (26:43):
Today oh? Cool was it? Fun, like but you're not
sitting there, saying, oh how'd you?

Speaker 3 (26:47):
Play with the variants of, like, WELL i score twenty six,
points or LIKE i score two, Points like that's not
normal for most of us.

Speaker 2 (26:53):
To just pick up a sport on the. Side with,
golf how'd you? Play?

Speaker 5 (26:57):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (26:57):
Man oh it was the, worst you, Know, like it's
JUST i don't want TO i don't want.

Speaker 2 (27:02):
To put the time in to be consistently good at.

Speaker 3 (27:04):
It and even IF i did put the time, In
i'm not SURE i could be consistently good at. It
SO i certainly don't want a half asset just to
go out on a course for hours a day and
be frustrated by.

Speaker 5 (27:13):
IT i get the, LOGIC i.

Speaker 4 (27:15):
DO i kind of like the idea that you can
practice and and rep and get as many opportunities on
the driving range as humanly, possible and you can still
go out there and get humbled on any given golf
course on any given, day no matter how many times
you've played. IT i do kind of like that element

(27:37):
of degree of difficulty always lingering in the, background because
it gives you something to work. Towards, NOW i think
in your case where you are such a such a
specific or a person who operates with such a level of,
specificity if that is.

Speaker 2 (27:55):
The right, Grammar, NO cd, professionist that's.

Speaker 5 (27:58):
Fine golf is not going to be your, game, brother because.

Speaker 4 (28:01):
There is always going to be some some variable that's
tossed out in there that could throw you off, kilter
no matter what that you couldn't possibly prepare. For it
puts me in a bad mood when things like that
happen to me on the golf course In.

Speaker 5 (28:14):
Cognos they happen.

Speaker 4 (28:15):
A, Lot but STILL i still like that because it
doesn't you, KNOW i can go play the same course
That i've played a million times over and not have
the same. Experience AND i do kind of like it
from that, side even though it'll put.

Speaker 5 (28:28):
Me in a foul mood for the rest.

Speaker 4 (28:31):
To the, day even THOUGH i know THAT i have
complete control over the way THAT i play and the
way THAT i, swing and how MUCH i turn my
shoulders WHEN i shouldn't When i'm bringing the club, around
and all these different things That i've reped with the
golf pro At Old Hickory Country club a million and one.

Speaker 5 (28:46):
Times you try and get, RIGHT i please.

Speaker 4 (28:49):
Listen If i'm gonna get out, There i'm, gonna you,
know at least be able to get around the course
in a reasonable amount of. Time and If i'm playing
scrambles THAT i don't have to worry about it being my.

Speaker 5 (28:58):
Ball i'll just play whoever's better and, uh and we'll
keep it moving that.

Speaker 4 (29:02):
Way BUT I i from your standpoint you, specifically knowing
you the way THAT i, DO i completely understand why
you would you would detest.

Speaker 3 (29:09):
Golf, yeah And i've got a group of friends that
play all the time.

Speaker 2 (29:14):
And they're, like oh, man you gotta come.

Speaker 3 (29:16):
Out and one of them actually tried to give me
the the argument of like it's good, exercise like you're
you're getting good At i'm, LIKE i mean if you walk,
Right i'm, like your fat ass is getting in a,
cart so like there was nothing good exercise about, It
like you you wobbled your way to the cart and
you drove to the next ta. SPOT i, mean let's
not sit there like while you're you're penguining your way

(29:37):
to get into the cart and get your ride to
the next, hole like.

Speaker 2 (29:40):
You really want good.

Speaker 3 (29:41):
EXERCIS i will gladly if a friend comes to me
and it's, like you know, what, GUYS i think the
eight of us should hang out for four hours. Today
let's go on a four hour. Walk, Okay, like let's do.
That you want to do, that.

Speaker 2 (29:51):
Don't try and sell me. That, well we're gonna go
go play golf because golf's great.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
Exercise, no It isn't driving a cart from spot to
spot makes you a grown up version Of?

Speaker 2 (29:59):
Mario does it make you an exercise?

Speaker 4 (30:01):
Fanatic golf just golf is a convenient excuse for you
to get away from four for four, hours from whatever
it is that you're trying to get away. From maybe,
you you, know you just need time away from from the,
family and the family probably doesn't feel the same. Way
but sometimes we all need a little bit of, piece
a little bit of, solitude and a golf course is
a great place for.

Speaker 2 (30:21):
That.

Speaker 4 (30:21):
Golf golf is an excuse for a lot of different.
Things oh, HONEY i TOLD i told my Friends i'd
go play.

Speaker 5 (30:30):
Golf with, golf golf with them. Today how long is
that going to? Take?

Speaker 4 (30:33):
You probably about four? Hours if we're going to play eighteen.
Holts what do you mean you're gonna be gone for four?
Hours and that's just the golf, itself not the time
it takes to get to the, course not the time
it takes to get, ready not everything you're gonna do in,
between not depending on pace of, play how many drinks
you stop the cart girl for the whole nine. Yards
to use a different sports, analogy it is golf is

(30:54):
an excuse more than it is a reason.

Speaker 3 (30:58):
That, look you're right about all of, that AND i
respect all of. THAT i just was hoping from a
business standpoint BECAUSE i feel like everybody you meet doesn't
matter what walker life, There And i'm, like, well do you?
Golf it's, like does mini golf? Count or can we
go to top? Golf i'm not even good at.

Speaker 5 (31:14):
It it should we normalize mini.

Speaker 4 (31:15):
Golfer mini golf should, count like if you're going out
to hang out with some corporate partners or all these
all these different business transactions that go down on a golf.

Speaker 5 (31:25):
Course why can't we do it a putt? Putt come.

Speaker 3 (31:26):
ON i was hopeful for a minute that pickleball would
take off and be, that but THEN i realized that
that's every bit is, Obnoxious like like a pickleball is
easier just to pick up and, play but you're also
not having a. Conversation And i'm pretty sure that half
my friends that decided to pick up pickleball are going
to keel over in the middle of that. Too SO
i don't, LIKE i don't, know you, KNOW i JUST
i THINK i miss out because there's no golf opportunity for.

Speaker 2 (31:48):
ME i don't know what we've.

Speaker 3 (31:50):
Actually talked about this morning on the. Fellow so, far
We've i've trashed a hot dog getting. Contest i've been
anti golf and uh AND i don't, know and you're anti.

Speaker 2 (32:00):
Fireworks we.

Speaker 3 (32:00):
Haven't so far this, morning we have not filled the
people with the usual level of joy.

Speaker 2 (32:06):
And Love buck that were so known.

Speaker 4 (32:09):
FOR i, tried and you shot me. Down you shot
me down. COLD i came in here with open. ARMS
i was ready to Welcome america Into july fifth and
embrace our crew back In Los. Angeles and you scowled at.
Me you sneered at, me and you, said, oh that's not.
Authentic he doesn't do. That he's just he's being performative

(32:29):
when in, REALITY i don't do anything like. That and
plus the praise is pouring in already this. Morning we've
got mcshae And Buffalo New york says thank You Jason
fitz And Buck rising for being live this.

Speaker 5 (32:42):
Morning great way to start my.

Speaker 4 (32:43):
Birthday enjoy the show yesterday and can't wait to hear
the show. Now, see we're giving the people exactly what they.
Want Jason alessandro tweets us and, said good morning to
both of.

Speaker 5 (32:53):
Us people are, fine we could do this even if
we you.

Speaker 4 (32:56):
Know poop on golf and or try to fix the
hot dog eating contest is the bulk of the content.

Speaker 5 (33:02):
Today we got plenty of football stuff to.

Speaker 4 (33:04):
DO i literally gave you every football, talk every football
off season TOPIC i have done in my, life because you,
know doing local stuff you have to be, very very,
granular and you got it by, time at this time
of year more than any. Other because people don't want
to hear about. GOLF i don't want to hear about
the hot dog eating. Contest they want to hear about,
recruiting they want to hear about training, game they want
to hear about quarterback competitions and all. That SO i

(33:26):
gave you all that stuff this. Morning if we don't
get to, it that's on.

Speaker 3 (33:29):
You you know, what we'll do it next maybe, well,
yeah we're going to break down the, best the most,
innovative incredible off SEASON nfl storyline you have ever heard
in your. Life we'll come at your next seas Buck.
Rising I'm jason Fitz sphelli's On Fox Sports, Radio july.

Speaker 4 (33:46):
Fifth Football talk is probably not what you had on
the docket, today but given that the direction of the
show so far has been hot dog eating And Fitzi
Jason fitz disputing any kind of interest or relevance in
the sport of golf and me yelling and screaming at
like an old man shaking my fist literally at the

(34:08):
sky while people shoot off fireworks during the. Daytime by the,
Way i'll deal with you people. Later we have four
hours today on the fellas here On Fox Sports. Radio
He's Jason, Fitz I'm Buck. Rising we're hanging out here
with you for the next couple. Hours we've got the
rest of the crew holding it down back there In
Los angeles and the wee wee hours of the Morning pacific.
Time the people that shoot off fireworks during the day

(34:30):
belong in an, institution but we will have time for those.
People we want to talk some football with you today
because that's where the two of us are most, comfortable
and there's plenty of interest in this, offseason an off
season that has been fascinating top to. Bottom but in
the midst of all The Aaron, Rodgers Pittsburgh steelers of it,
all there are things that we can gloss over that

(34:53):
do matter to the landscape of The National Football league
in the upcoming, season in the upcoming training, camp and
everything that will set the stage for what figures to
Be REALLY i, mean football is always. Fun we're always
excited to have football back in our. Lives but in,
PARTICULAR i want to talk about some of the more
overlooked storylines that are out there in THE.

Speaker 5 (35:14):
Nfl AND i would.

Speaker 4 (35:16):
Seed the floor to my reputable friend and, Colleague.

Speaker 5 (35:19):
Fitzy what do we not?

Speaker 4 (35:20):
Talk, well, Depending you're the only colleague That i've got
to look at right, now so you by default yet
to be the, reputable the reputable colleague. Fitcy what are
we lossing over that has meaning and an import in
The National Football league when we've just caught up in
Where Aaron rodgers is going to play football?

Speaker 2 (35:39):
Next So i'm going to get there in a.

Speaker 3 (35:42):
Second but you just said something that PHILOSOPHICALLY i THINK
i might disagree. With AND i can't believe, this but
you said football is always. Fun let me ask you
a philosophical, question BECAUSE i think we've already forgotten.

Speaker 2 (35:56):
It by the end of last, season there were a
stagger growing number of terrible football.

Speaker 3 (36:03):
TEAMS i don't, LIKE i, MEAN i, mean but think
about it with a month left in the, season just
the way overall that we were looking at THE nfl
and it was like who's gonna have the who's gonna
have the first? Pick you, know because all of these
teams are so. Bad like if you go back to
the way that that look at the draft, order, right

(36:24):
you go back to The titans were absolutely. Terrible The
jags were just god, awful right like The giants were a,
Joke The patriots were just a stinky football. Team The,
browns oh my, god The raiders just as much as
it hurts my. Heart The raiders, stunk The jets, stunk

(36:44):
The panthers, stunk The saints. Stink like you just go
up and down the. List there were what a dozen
teams last year that were not even worth? Watching and
we rarely say that with, You like right, now.

Speaker 2 (36:56):
We'll watch any.

Speaker 3 (36:57):
Football you could give Me jags To titans and tell
me it's the only game in town and we would
all flock to it and it would be. Perfect BUT i,
mean do you have some lingering concern that last year
was more than just a one year? Outlier like last
year was the ultimate have and have? Not and if
that's the, future that's.

Speaker 2 (37:12):
Bad that's. Bad.

Speaker 5 (37:13):
Brother do you know how many teams had a losing
record last?

Speaker 2 (37:16):
Year no half the?

Speaker 4 (37:20):
League sixteen sixteen teams were under five. Hundred now that
counts the eight to nine teams of the, world the
teams like The falcons and The, colts who maybe you
think are just middling because we don't have outright five
hundred teams. Anymore with seventeen regular season, games but sixteen
teams had a losing record in twenty twenty. Four not
a single team went from worst in their division to first.

(37:43):
Place the way that we've seen at least a few
in the last couple of, years really in the last,
decade sprinkled across the landscape of THE. Nfl you brought
up the how bad The jags. WERE i watched The
titans lose to them. Twice they got swept By. JONES
i covered both of those. GAMES i slept around the
country and not to make, it you, know a personal,

(38:05):
situation because it's not about.

Speaker 5 (38:07):
Us BUT i.

Speaker 4 (38:09):
Am glad that you brought this up because it was
an incorrect statement by.

Speaker 5 (38:13):
ME i was not having fun last year AND i let.

Speaker 4 (38:16):
It, FRANKLY, fitzi it's as disappointed in myself professionally As
i've ever been BECAUSE i let it impact my. COVERAGE
i was outright malicious with how bad they were at
football last, year speaking about The Tennessee, titans which is
the team THAT i cover on a local basis here In,
nashville AND i let them know about it every OPPORTUNITY i,

(38:40):
got every TIME i cracked a, mic every TIME i
got On, twitter every time THAT i wrote something or
spoke about them or was asked about, THEM i would
rip them because they were not a professional football. Team
Fitz i watched that team last year lose seven games
by ten or more. Points in The National Football, league
the league most successfully built for, parody and there were

(39:03):
teams all over the place that were that kind of.
Awful so to say that football is always fun is
very much me trying to just bury and repress any
memory THAT i had of the twenty twenty four, season
because that's the worst football Season i've ever been a
part of in my.

Speaker 3 (39:19):
Life sixteen teams had a losing. RECORD i just looked it.
Up twelve teams lost double digit. Games ten teams didn't
win more than five football. Games ten teams last year
went five and twelve or.

Speaker 2 (39:36):
Worse, NOW i don't want.

Speaker 3 (39:38):
To make that a sweeping, like, hey this is a new,
trend BUT i do think when you see it, once
you got to perk up a little bit and look
around and, say, hey is there an issue? Here BECAUSE
i can't promise anybody that we just automatically, presume, well
this year it's going to turn.

Speaker 2 (39:53):
AROUND i don't know that we can presume.

Speaker 3 (39:56):
THAT i think that were set for a year that
could have a lot of bad football teams, again and
if that's the, case that's when you reach a. Problem
like one of the major problems that they will always
have in baseball hockey in THE nba is that quickly
we decide who's good and who's, not and when they're,
bad they're really. Bad if that's future of THE, nfl

(40:16):
that's a, problem we will get to overlook. Storylines, next
it's The fellas On Fox Sports.

Speaker 2 (40:21):
Radio don't listening To Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (40:26):
Radio last year was a strange year in THE, nfl
and it's okay to admit. That it's okay for all
of us to admit AS nfl fanatics that last year
was maybe a bad. Year sixteen teams in the league
had a losing. Record twelve teams in the league lost
double digit. Games ten teams in the league won five
or less five and twelve or. Worse for ten, teams

(40:50):
the question is should we be just ready for more
of the. Same it's The fellas On Fox Sports, Radio
buck rising in For Anthony.

Speaker 2 (40:57):
Gargano I'm Jason.

Speaker 3 (40:58):
Fitz we're hanging out with you all the way up

show in a. BATHROBE i don't, know you know exactly
how Like Buck rising feels like the type of person
that walks into a hotel and immediately puts the hotel.

Speaker 2 (41:30):
Provided bathrobe and slippers.

Speaker 3 (41:32):
On and you've proven that case today by deciding to
show up in a, studio in a professional work environment
in a. BATHROOM i just think people should know.

Speaker 2 (41:42):
That.

Speaker 4 (41:42):
ONE i love that you know this already about, me
THAT i don't stay in a hotel unless it's a
two bathrobe. Hotel that's a hard and fast. Rule they
have to have they have to have, bathrobes and they
have to be married of a certain kind of. Material
get this terry cloth, nonsense this raggedy nonsense out of.
Here IF i am tempted to purchase the bathrobe from

(42:05):
the hotel That i've stayed, at that's the kind of
hotel THAT i want to stay At. Uh, SECONDARILY i
am not exclusively wearing a, bathrobe THOUGH i SUPPOSE i could,
have because there's nobody else in this building at five
three in the morning On, Saturday july the, fifth here In, Nashville.
TENNESSEE i could have done that IF i wanted, To
but this. Isn't i'll, uh you, know at the risk

(42:25):
of showing too, Much i'll stand up fitsy for you
and you alone on FaceTime and show you that this
is this is like a half. Bathrobe SO i have
my workout clothes on under. It it's a little bit
like A Star wars obi wan kenobi. Cloak it's got a,
Hoodie it's got all the things that a roabe needs to.
Have it has the the the the loopholes for a

(42:48):
draw string or a belt if he'd BE i work.

Speaker 5 (42:52):
Cloth it's, true that's a little chilly in, here all.

Speaker 4 (42:54):
RIGHT i wanted to put my workout clothes on Because
i'm going to go work out after this AND i
didn't want to be.

Speaker 5 (42:59):
Cold, well we did four.

Speaker 4 (43:00):
Hours of radio On july the, fifth all, Right SO
i wore my my robe cloak or cloak, robe however
you want to go about this.

Speaker 2 (43:07):
Thing let's just drill down to what this at its.

Speaker 3 (43:10):
Core you said earlier that you don't even think about
safety most of the time because you were six two
and two hundred and twenty, pounds and like you just
don't have to worry about things in. Life IF i
wear a cloak, anywhere, anywhere immediate.

Speaker 2 (43:26):
Mockery if you wear a.

Speaker 3 (43:28):
Cloak it's an interesting fashion, Choice like these are the
things that you.

Speaker 5 (43:32):
Ease, OH i look very.

Speaker 4 (43:33):
Trendy LOOK i look trendy in my five inch workout
shorts and my, cloak my cloak robe that goes past my.
Knees it's an Interesting it looks like something that AN
nba basketball player would walk into the tunnel or walk
into the arena with in the in the, pregame when
people are taking videos and pictures of their fashion choices
on any given, day it looks like something that you'd.

Speaker 5 (43:54):
Question but it looks like SOMETHING i could get away.

Speaker 3 (43:56):
WITH i didn't need to know About Buck rising's five inch.
Anything He's Buck rising. Up Jason, Fitz we're hanging. On
I'm Fox Sports, radio and all, right so the question,
is are a bunch of teams still gonna be. Bad
because here's the THING i love right, now the season of.
Hope and that's what the offseason is in THE, nfl
where we all sit.

Speaker 2 (44:14):
Here and we're, like oh, man my team got. Better
i'm A raiders.

Speaker 3 (44:16):
Fan i'm convinced my team is gonna take the gigantic
leap forward TO i don't, know seven or eight, wins
which is gonna feel so much different than five wins
if we're being. Fair but AS i look up and
down the list of the teams that were just, Terrible
i'm gonna rattle them off real quick so that we
can remember here teams that were five and twelve or
worse last. Year The, jets The, patriots The, browns The,

(44:40):
jags The, titans The, raiders The, giants The, bears The,
panthers The. SAINTS i, mean that's a long list of
teams that were. Terrible, now some of those, teams some
people think are gonna take a leap, Forward BUT i
also think of some of those brands again as perennially
bad more often than. Not if you got a bet

(45:01):
on whether The browns are going to win five or
less games most, years.

Speaker 2 (45:05):
It's a pretty good bet to.

Speaker 3 (45:06):
Take same with The, raiders same with The jags of
late scene with The. TITANS i think it's really tough
for me because even going back to the WAY i
felt in the immediate moment of draft Coverage, BUCK i remember, thinking,
well this team still, Stinks like look at The.

Speaker 2 (45:22):
Patriots everybody will because they Have rabel as a head. Coach,
now this is going to be a big breakthrough.

Speaker 5 (45:27):
YEAR i don't.

Speaker 2 (45:28):
Know they spent a lot of.

Speaker 3 (45:29):
MONEY i don't, Know, like are we really buying that
The patriots are about to take a meteoric?

Speaker 5 (45:34):
Leap oh, god. NO i mean.

Speaker 4 (45:38):
This is an interesting case, study in particular BECAUSE i
Covered Mike rabel his entire first head coaching stint here In.

Speaker 5 (45:47):
TENNESSEE i.

Speaker 4 (45:48):
Had mike was the second coach THAT i covered After Mike,
malarkey and he's the coach That i've spent the most time.
AROUND i had a great relationship continue to AND i
have a lot of respect For Mike, vrabel even though
you know he bullies me on a regular, basis which
is shocking to no. One he is Not he is
not capable of the kind of change that, people at

(46:11):
least the national dialogue seems to think that he alone
is going to come in and institute sweeping. Change, Now
mike is truly a leader of. Men he is somebody
who will captivate your. Attention he is somebody who will
hold you. Accountable he is somebody who will institute, culture
which is a difficult thing to find and difficult to

(46:32):
describe even unless you are somebody who is just capable
of doing. That he knows that organization better than just about,
anybody and he is as smart a football mind as
just about. Anybody he is an excellent situational, coach and
he has brought a lot of the same people who
are with him during the best times In tennessee To New.
England but the problem is the game changes year in

(46:56):
and year. Out micha will know this better than, most
and that staff looks eerily similar to the staff THAT
i saw loose seven straight games at the end of
twenty twenty two after leading the division and go six
and ten In mike's final, year or six and eleven
In mike's final year before he was ultimately, fired and
they Brought Brian callahan.

Speaker 5 (47:12):
IN i also covered a team that.

Speaker 4 (47:14):
Spent two hundred and twenty eight million dollars in the
offseason last year The Tennessee. Titans the three Win Tennessee
titans spent two hundred and twenty eight million dollars to
build Around Will.

Speaker 5 (47:26):
Levis all, right, now that was.

Speaker 4 (47:28):
Easy it's easy to dismiss right, now but at the
time they were somewhat. Confident they shouldn't have, been but
they were somewhat confident, that all, right we've got a
quarterback at value. Here if he's just average or replacement,
level we think that we can meetingfully improve our football
team by trading with The Kansas City chiefs For Lagarious

(47:48):
need and giving him a big contract and Signing Calvin
ridley when we don't have a clear and obvious number
one wide receiver because those dopes traded AWAY Aj, brown
Giving Lloyd Cushion berry the most guaranteed money A sis ever.
Gotten all that fitsie for the quarterback to go, nuclear
and that's not Something Will. Levis you could have foreseen

(48:08):
him not being a good or even AVERAGE nfl quarterback
based on his collegiate, career BUT i don't think anybody
could have foreseen just how awful awful his decision making
was in the worst possible.

Speaker 5 (48:21):
Moments So i'm looking.

Speaker 4 (48:23):
At The patriots and saying they think they have a.
QUARTERBACK i think many many people would bank On Drake
may continuing to be an ascending commodity in THE. Nfl
but the question is do they have the right institutional
support around. Him that's not a question THAT i can outright. Answer,
McDaniels josh McDaniels is there as an offensive, coordinator and

(48:45):
we'll see if it's Just Tom brady or if he's
still got some magic that he can bring out as
a retread offensive coordinator with that. Institution but spending money
on players who you recognize does not guarantee. Success there
are a lot of different things that have to have
app In chicago is a fascinating case study. Here IF
i had to pick one that is most obviously improved

(49:07):
of those teams that you, MENTIONED i would probably go
The bears because we knew That Matt everfluss was going
to get fired last. Year they, wait they should have
been fired before that season even. Begun he Should they
should not have Subjected Caleb williams to that kind of.
Nonsense understanding that was that was going to derail his
development as a number one overall draft. Pick they fortified

(49:30):
the offensive, Line they've brought in reinforcements on. Defense Ben
johnson is somebody WHO i think is going to give that,
Player Caleb williams, specifically the best possible chance to.

Speaker 5 (49:40):
Succeed AND i don't know if you.

Speaker 4 (49:41):
PAID i know you did pay close attention to you
to their, draft specifically because you Did yahoo's draft, coverage.

Speaker 5 (49:46):
BUT i don't know if the audience.

Speaker 4 (49:48):
Did if you go back and look at what The
bears did in the offseason specific to.

Speaker 5 (49:52):
The, draft it's just like they're Playing madden out here like.

Speaker 4 (49:54):
This this has the potential to be the most improved
team out of any of these, teams most improved in,
team most improved team in twenty twenty, five just generally
based on the talent that they already, had the fortification
that they brought in around, him and the specification of
the skill set that the head coach now brings to
the table at the most important.

Speaker 5 (50:13):
Position to, me it's The.

Speaker 4 (50:15):
BEARS i could have gone The titans here just Because
Will levis is out and Cam ward is. In AND
i can't imagine that cam word is going to make
as my numbing of mistakes As Will levis. Did it
seems at every given. Turn but to, me the correct
answer Is.

Speaker 3 (50:29):
Chicago the only CONCERN i have is that being a
head coach is such a different job than being an offensive,
coordinator and it's super easy for us to look at
some of the times it's gone really right and, say,
hey well look At sean.

Speaker 2 (50:41):
McVay i, mean, great so everybody can pull A sean
McVay example or.

Speaker 5 (50:45):
Anything oh But i'm covering one.

Speaker 4 (50:46):
Now Brian callahana had a hell of a first year
as somebody who could do no wrong In.

Speaker 5 (50:50):
CINCINNATI i, mean it.

Speaker 3 (50:52):
Is just such a different and, Look Ben johnson was
the right hire and a great, Hire BUT i also
think it's a bit of an unknown and that we're
just sliding somebody in and saying it's gonna.

Speaker 2 (51:02):
WORK i think the problem is to.

Speaker 3 (51:04):
Go but you, know if you look across the, BOARD
i can say a, yeah but pretty easily to a
lot of these, Teams like The titans could be, Better,
yeah but they have a rookie quarterback and a coach
that has no proof of. Concept The bears could be, Better,
yeah But Ben johnson is first time head coach and
we really don't know how any of that's gonna go
And Caleb williams certainly has all the potential in the,
world but you've got to maximize. It The, Patriots drake

(51:27):
may could have an absolute incredible.

Speaker 2 (51:29):
Year they could take a massive step.

Speaker 3 (51:30):
Forward, yeah but people that have played In josh McDaniel's
offense have told me flat out it's the most difficult
language they've ever had to learn in THE. Nfl so
now we're gonna presume That drake may just learns it
and assimilates into it, Quickly like this is what happens.

Speaker 2 (51:43):
For a lot of bad.

Speaker 3 (51:44):
Teams you just have to look around and, Say, yeah
but if you're A jacks fan right, now you're, Like
Liam cohen is gonna fix. Everything, yeah but that's the
Same Liam cohen that McVeigh and The rams were willing
to let walk as many times as they possibly. Could
like maybe it Was. Baker, maybe you, know we're sitting
here today saying Maybe Brian dabole got too much credit
and we should have given more credit To Josh. Allen

(52:04):
at what point do we turn around and, say maybe
every offensive coordinator that ever worked With Baker mayfield In
tampa is actually the benefit Of Baker.

Speaker 2 (52:11):
MAYFIELD i don't.

Speaker 3 (52:12):
Know so it's just it's pretty easy for, me If
i'm not a fan of any of these, teams as
everybody Knows i'm A raiders, fan really easy to turn
around and, say oh my, god with these, improvements there's
a seven eight win, team LIKE i said, earlier OR
i don't, know they got a three fifty two year
old head coach with the offensive coordinator that didn't have
a ton OF nfl success and a defense that has

(52:34):
more question marks than answers that it could easily be
a four win.

Speaker 2 (52:37):
Team gets.

Speaker 3 (52:38):
Like, so if you want to make the argument against
most of these, teams it's pretty easy to do. That being,
said we're gonna look at some of the storylines that
maybe are being forgotten slept on through the entire course
of this. Offseason we spent so much time obsessing over
teams Like, pittsburgh but there are a couple of huge
story outlines out there that everybody's just simply. Missing we'll

(52:58):
tell you what they are. Next rising in For Anthony,
Gargotto I'm jason.

Speaker 2 (53:02):
Fitz it's The. Fellas I'm Fox Sports.

Speaker 9 (53:03):
Radio Fox Sports radio has the best sports talk lineup
in the. Nation catch all of our shows At Foxsports
radio dot com and within The iHeartRadio. App SEARCH fsr
to listen live.

Speaker 2 (53:17):
Se fellas On Fox Sports.

Speaker 3 (53:18):
Radio He's Buck rising On Jason Fitz hanging out with
you on the fifth Of july a perfect time to
look ahead to THE. Nfl, look we're all football starved
and there are some forgotten. Storylines i'm just gonna be
transparent with. You the most over talked thing about in
THE nfl this year is gonna be The Pittsburgh. Steelers
everybody's gonna have something to say all year long about

(53:39):
The Pittsburgh, steelers and it just it's. Exhausting in, fact
the leader in the, Show i'm sure we will talk
about The Pittsburgh, steelers but in the process of getting
lost in the sea Of steelers, swagger.

Speaker 2 (53:49):
We're going to have to figure out some of the other.

Speaker 3 (53:52):
Storylines and there are some big ones that had BEEN
i just think wildly looked. Over So, BUCK i thought
we'd take a look at a couple that are out
there that stand out to.

Speaker 2 (54:00):
You CAN i give you one that's on my?

Speaker 3 (54:02):
Mind CAN i give you like to, me there is
one clear storyline in THE nfl that everybody's just, like oh,
Yeah i'm not talking about it.

Speaker 2 (54:10):
Anymore CAN i give you my top?

Speaker 5 (54:11):
One you're may?

Speaker 3 (54:13):
Okay The Minnesota, vikings coming off of a fourteen win,
season deciding that they're going to hand the reins over
to a rookie quarterback essentially because he didn't play at
all last, YEAR a quarterback that had two procedures on his,
KNEE a quarterback, that in the process of those procedures
lost so much weight that the organization became concerned, about
like some reports had him in the one, sixties trying.

Speaker 2 (54:34):
To build that way back.

Speaker 3 (54:34):
Up they have turned everything over TO jj, McCarthy and
that could be. GREAT i hope it's, Great LIKE i
genuinely hope it's.

Speaker 2 (54:43):
Great but it scares the hell out of me to
think fourteen.

Speaker 3 (54:46):
Wins and you're just willing to Let Sam donald. Walk
and this is where everybody, says, Well Sam donald. Sucks, okay,
okay you know who, sucks ain't O'Connell And gardner. Minshep you,
know like there's a. Level there are levels to the quarterback.
Conversation and my comments WHEN jj was drafted AND i
was doing a live draft show WAS i don't, know
how do any of us know At, michigan he really

(55:08):
wasn't asked to be. That so whatever traits they saw At,
michigan you still got to actually see. That so the
guy's never played a single snap of MEANINGFUL nfl, Football
he missed an entire, year he lost, Weight he's had.

Speaker 2 (55:19):
Two procedures on his.

Speaker 3 (55:20):
Knee he may or may not be the throwing guy
that people expect him to be suddenly out of. Nowhere,
like all of these things lead to curiosity for, Me
AND i think if The vikings take a step, Back
i'm just going to have to wonder if they'll regret
some of the way that they've handled the quarterback.

Speaker 4 (55:36):
Position you could go back to the way that they
handled The Kirk cousins situation in twenty three and the
ripple effects that that's had on. Them, NOW i, know
eight games in he tore his achilles and you're looking
around and being, like will he ever be the? Same
And kirk obviously has since been benched and is now
a problem for The falcon salary cap is also a
problem for the general manager that paid him that money

(55:57):
just to make him a one hundred million dollar backup
at this point in. Time But Quescia Doofo mensa THE
gm In. Minnesota he kind of sucks at.

Speaker 5 (56:05):
Drafting if you've.

Speaker 2 (56:10):
You're not, WRONG i just hadn't thought about.

Speaker 4 (56:12):
It, WELL i only thought about it recently because he
got a contract. Extension i'm, like, well, Yeah I'm minnesota
won fourteen.

Speaker 5 (56:20):
Games that makes a lot of.

Speaker 4 (56:21):
Sense and then you look at the players that they're
winning these games with and their acquisitions in free agency
as opposed to being.

Speaker 5 (56:31):
Organically drafted by that.

Speaker 4 (56:32):
Organization, now that will give you success for a period of,
time but that period of time in THE nfl is
fleeting THE Nfc north in, particular because you're talking About
detroit losing both, Coordinators you're talking About minnesota losing their
starting quarterback To seattle and an.

Speaker 5 (56:50):
Unknown, commodity unknown at least to.

Speaker 4 (56:52):
Us perhaps there is a great deal of confidence In
minnesota based on information that they have that we, don't
and that's all well and, good but we won't know
that for a pierod of. Time, hell we probably won't
know until Mid october Early november whether The vikings were
justified in Letting Sam darnold walk and GIVING jj McCarthy
the reins to this. Thing but like they they feel

(57:13):
very house of cards ish to me based on the
way that they have assembled their roster and the longevity
that usually comes with or lack thereof that comes with
assembling covering up your draft mistakes with free agent. Acquisitions
now they have made good free agent, Acquisitions BUT i don't,
know THERE'S i don't know who's the bigger regression candidate

(57:36):
between the two of, Them detroit Or. MINNESOTA i think
they're both kind of in a weird. Spot this is
going to be a huge test For Dan. Campbell that's
not an overlooked. STORYLINE i think we've talked about that
a great, deal given that both coordinators went on to
become the head coach of The lions or excuse, me
The bears And Ben johnson and The jets In Aaron.
Glenn but FOR i don't, know Does kevin O'Connell seems to,

(58:00):
have you, know a bit of a bit of free reign?

Speaker 5 (58:04):
Here how much does that change IF jj McCarthy doesn't.

Speaker 3 (58:06):
Hit, well AND i, think, LOOK i think he's a cheat.
Code kevin, O'Connell i believe. ME i want to be clear.
HERE i am rooting for the tremendous success OF jj
and for The. Vikings but you make a really important
point with The. Lions not only is it their head
coach or their offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator that have,
left it is also many of their position.

Speaker 2 (58:27):
Coaches that coaching staff has.

Speaker 3 (58:29):
Just been ripped. Apart and this is where everybody, says,
well you know who. Cares campbell found those. Guys they'll be.
Fine how that work for The, eagles, right like hiring
new coordinators all over the field works sometimes and it
doesn't work. Sometimes it's simply a roll of the. Dice
and that doesn't Mean i'm Anti. Philly like it worked
out for them, eventually but mistakes were made along the,

(58:51):
way right, like, oh.

Speaker 5 (58:52):
You brought Up Mike vrabel.

Speaker 4 (58:53):
Earlier vrabel got fired here because they Replaced Matt lafleur
With Arthur. Smith both went on to become a head,
coaches and then you ended up With Todd. Downing they
never Replaced Dan p's and they were worse off for
it than. All the scrutiny was, unvable and he kept
hiring his boys and they got a fired for.

Speaker 3 (59:07):
It in, PART i mean that sort of revolving doors
where things get really, Risky one of the, big massive
benefits that The chiefs have all the time is, that
for whatever, Reason Steve, spagnolo the defensive coordinator that's arguably
the best in the, league one of the, best and
the league will say it that, Way spags doesn't really
get any looks to be a head coach, anywhere so

(59:30):
they have. Continuity continuity from a coaching staff is incredibly.
Important So i'm looking at The north and when you
talk about storylines like today right, now we're all, saying
oh my, god don't look at THE Nfc north on your.

Speaker 2 (59:43):
Schedule it's going to be a. GAUNTLET i don't. KNOW
i think The lions could take a step. Back and that's.

Speaker 3 (59:49):
Fair it doesn't mean That i'm A lion's. Hater it
just means THAT i can find the math To lions
taking a step. BACK i can find the math to
The vikings taking a step.

Speaker 2 (59:56):
BACK i can find the.

Speaker 3 (59:57):
Math as we said earlier To Ben, johnson turns out
he not the head coach that some people want him to.
Be like my, god not every person that immediately becomes
a head coach is successful in year.

Speaker 2 (01:00:07):
ONE i can find the math to all of.

Speaker 3 (01:00:08):
That LIKE i can find the math to the majority
of The north taking a bit of a step, Back
and that doesn't mean that it's a bad division. Suddenly
it just means that success might be viewed a little
bit differently based on some of the obstacles those teams
have to get.

Speaker 4 (01:00:22):
Through do you want to know what's BECAUSE i feel
Like minnesota gets talked about a. Lot the quarterback transaction
is going to bring a lot of attention to. Them
kevin O'Connell, obviously as the reigning coach of the, year
is going to there's gonna be some conversation generated around.
Them SO i don't WHILE i understand your, POINT i
don't believe that to be an overlook.

Speaker 5 (01:00:39):
Storyline you want to talk about really?

Speaker 4 (01:00:41):
Overlooked oh, yeah who is the most overlooked successful organization
in THE?

Speaker 5 (01:00:45):
Nfl you want to take a.

Speaker 3 (01:00:46):
Guess overlooked successful organization like consistently year in year, out, Successful, WELL.

Speaker 2 (01:00:54):
I, DON'T i.

Speaker 3 (01:00:55):
Don't i'm just gonna run quick to my. MIND i
don't think you can be overlooked when you've won a
couple Of super Bowl so it's not The. EAGLES i
don't think it's The bills because we talk about.

Speaker 2 (01:01:03):
Them all the.

Speaker 3 (01:01:04):
Time AND i don't think it's The ravens because we
talk about them all the. Time AND i can't imagine
It's chiefs because it's The. Chiefs So i've.

Speaker 2 (01:01:12):
Run through the four that are off the top of my.
Head who is.

Speaker 4 (01:01:14):
It it's The Tampa Bay. Buccaneers, oh The Tampa Bay.
Buccaneers all they do is win. Divisions they are probably
going to win the division. Again and, listen you can
you can criticize the strength of the division that they
play in in THE Nfc.

Speaker 3 (01:01:28):
SOUTH i mean you, Can, like, dude they're playing in
a division that's like you going in to play a
bunch of fat fifth graders in dodgeball, Today like you're
probably gonna win that.

Speaker 2 (01:01:37):
Matchup they get all.

Speaker 3 (01:01:38):
THAT i mean as by the, way as a kid
that was the fat kid in dodgeball in fifth, GRADE
i relate to.

Speaker 2 (01:01:44):
This i'm telling, You.

Speaker 5 (01:01:46):
If that's what THE Nfc south, is what is THE Afc?

Speaker 4 (01:01:49):
South because there are many many unkind THINGS i could
say about the division THAT i currently work in in
my life at this. Point but my point, IS, fitzi
you you can detegrate their level of competition and that's.
Fine they are not the best they. Had two of
the teams that you mentioned won five or less games last.

Speaker 5 (01:02:10):
Year two of them played in THE Nfc.

Speaker 4 (01:02:11):
South it's The panthers and The, saints and The panthers
in The saints still have plenty of question marks around,
them and the other one is The. Falcons and we
know that The falcons feel like a perpetual eight and,
nine seven and ten type of situation because it's impossible
to trust them right. Now so maybe The bucks are
a product of the division that they play.

Speaker 5 (01:02:28):
In But Todd, bowles all he has done is win the.

Speaker 4 (01:02:31):
DIVISION i know that they won The Super bowl With
arians And brady several years, ago and they did that
as a wild.

Speaker 5 (01:02:37):
Card ironically, enough they did not.

Speaker 4 (01:02:38):
Win the division the year that the first year That
Tom brady was In Tampa. Bay but including the, playoffs
The buccaneers won the same number of games last year
as they did in twenty twenty.

Speaker 5 (01:02:53):
Three they have won ten games in the last two.

Speaker 4 (01:02:56):
Seasons they have a quarterback who may be a product
of the scheme that he was playing in last year
With Liam, cohen who now goes To jacksonville to try
and rehabilitate that. Thing but like who's got a better
skill position set up then The Tampa Bay buccaneers For
Baker mayfield because they added To Chris, godwin who took
a hometown discount because he and his family didn't want to,

(01:03:17):
move And Mike, evans who's closer to the end of
his career than he is to the, beginning but it
is still a high level. Player they drafted A Mecho
buka out Of Ohio state in the first, round like
the rich get richer on that side of the, ball
AND i know their defense took a step, back and
that is something That Todd bowles as a head, coach
is going to make sure that they get. Right health
was a concern there at the. End BUT i don't

(01:03:38):
know if there's a least discussed more successful franchise year over,
year consistently successful than The Tampa Bay.

Speaker 5 (01:03:46):
Buccaneers that to me is the definition of.

Speaker 3 (01:03:48):
Overlooked, LOOK i love everything you just said With, tampa
and it's still stuck in my head talking To baker
a couple of years ago at The Super bowl For
yahoo and we were just talking after The you haven't
like that, that WHICH i think sometimes is the most valuable.
Information getting time you, know when you've finished the interview
and you're just standing around with a guy and you,
know shooting you know. What and it was funny BECAUSE

(01:04:10):
i asked, HIM i, said what, changed, man like just.

Speaker 2 (01:04:13):
Being real for a. Minute you go from.

Speaker 3 (01:04:17):
Just bouncing from team to team to team to all
of a sudden just finding your, Lane.

Speaker 2 (01:04:21):
Like, honestly what changes in that?

Speaker 3 (01:04:23):
Process and he, said you, know it's the first time
in my career WHEN i got To tampa THAT i
suddenly REALIZED i didn't have to be anything to anybody
and there were no. Expectations he, said it was such
A you're never gonna be able to Replace. Brady you
stink people forgot the number one next to his. Name
he said the first time that he felt like he

(01:04:43):
didn't come in having to live up to anything because
nothing was, expected and he just got to be.

Speaker 2 (01:04:48):
Himself and THEN i was.

Speaker 3 (01:04:49):
Talking later to a couple of different people that had
played with him at different, times AND i, said do
you see a, Difference and the answer immediately was a
gall Like baker's a different, Dude like the weight of
the world is.

Speaker 2 (01:04:59):
GONE i think there are some guys that just need
the right situation at the right. TIME i think that's
true in.

Speaker 3 (01:05:05):
Life you, know like there's just certain for anybody that
works in any. Job if you walk in every day
and you feel like your boss is just genuinely a
fan of what you.

Speaker 2 (01:05:14):
Do it changes the way you perceive everything about your work.
Day if you walk in and you're, like.

Speaker 3 (01:05:19):
Yeah my boss Thinks i'm an, idiot And i'm, underperforming
And i'm working my tailoff and it's not, working and you,
know all of these things like it eventually bogs down your.
PERFORMANCE i think that's real for some, athletes not. All
some athletes are so thick skinned it doesn't. Matter but you,
KNOW i always told people in the music, business make
sure you sign with a label and a management company
and a booking agent that are truly fans of what you,

(01:05:40):
do because someday you're gonna put out a song that
doesn't do, well and when it doesn't do, well they're
going to drop you immediately unless they're fans of what you.
Do and you, Know i've learned the same thing in,
media like work for companies that are genuinely, like, HEY
i love your style of what you, do.

Speaker 2 (01:05:54):
And it makes your day in and day, in day
out life so much. Different that's That's baker And.

Speaker 3 (01:05:58):
Tampa, LIKE i think all of these coaches are getting,
jobs Including Liam, cohen because they're working With. Baker but
what we're not acknowledging is that this isn't The baker Of.
Cleveland this is The Baker mayfield that's just comfortable in
his own skin and comfortable being him and has found
that like that, rhythm and when you find that really
changes the way you play the. Game SO i think
that's a huge part of Why i'm in On Tampa.

Speaker 4 (01:06:20):
Bay that speaks to why we're seeing so many quarterback
reclamation projects right. Now not to sidebar off our conversation,
here that's what we do. NOW i, mean it's an
interesting case, study right Because Sam darnold is the next
focal point of.

Speaker 5 (01:06:37):
That is it?

Speaker 4 (01:06:37):
Sustainable is he a one year? Wonder was he playing
with house money In minnesota when they won fourteen? Games
to your point about the changes that they're making there
and the way that that is just kind of being
lost over and assuming That minnesota is going to continue
to compete at the top of what looks, like at
least in the, preseason THE Nfc north looks like the
toughest division in THE.

Speaker 5 (01:06:57):
NFL Afc north give him a run for the.

Speaker 4 (01:07:00):
Money But cleveland still, exists and they ARE Thoroughlyfc west.

Speaker 2 (01:07:03):
EXISTS i, mean THE Afc west is going to be a. Gauntlet.
Gauntlet he's given me a.

Speaker 3 (01:07:08):
Look look just because you don't like my Joy, no, no,
no it's not about.

Speaker 4 (01:07:12):
You it's about. What what are The? Chargers what are The?
CHARGERS i know they won eleven games last year And
Jim harbaugh is a fun, story.

Speaker 11 (01:07:19):
This that and the, other but like eleven games with
a just a hot garbage expectation roster like they was supposed.

Speaker 4 (01:07:25):
To be a bit of a, no that roster stop.
It that roster is significantly.

Speaker 5 (01:07:29):
Better the.

Speaker 2 (01:07:30):
Weapons Justin herbert had what Is ladd, McConkey.

Speaker 3 (01:07:34):
Okay talk about coming into the, season it was he
Hasn't we didn't Know lad was going to turn into
What ladd turned. Into and coming into the, season it
was this team doesn't have any weapons For Justin herbert
and the offensive line asked.

Speaker 2 (01:07:45):
Questions they had a great draft.

Speaker 5 (01:07:47):
And they got a great offensive line And ladd.

Speaker 4 (01:07:49):
McConkey was a rock star and their defense was one
of the best of this.

Speaker 5 (01:07:52):
Part get the blap out of. Here i'm just, like
If Trevor lawrence.

Speaker 4 (01:07:56):
Didn't, Exist Justin herbert would be the most underperforming player
in THE.

Speaker 5 (01:07:59):
Nfl, WELL i mean the.

Speaker 4 (01:08:01):
Guy the guy is constantly talked about in ways that
are befuddling to me because what.

Speaker 5 (01:08:07):
Has he actually.

Speaker 4 (01:08:08):
ACCOMPLISHED i, know he just won eleven games in a,
season and potentially there will be a you, know a
building process or a foundation laid in that first season
where they'll be able to continue to ascend as a.
Property but The chiefs are gonna win the division, again
and Bon nix will be, fine and The chargers will be,
fine and maybe even The raiders get.

Speaker 5 (01:08:28):
Frisky but The chiefs are gonna win that division. Again
what is compelling about THE Afc.

Speaker 3 (01:08:33):
West harborough's only had one year in his entire career
that didn't win double digit, games and he exceeded the
expectations last. Year hammered the over on The. Chargers even
THOUGH i hate the, TEAM i have to acknowledge.

Speaker 2 (01:08:44):
It they're going to be much.

Speaker 3 (01:08:45):
Better The, CHIEFS i, think are going to be in
a dog. PLAY i think the only real question mark
in THE Afc, west, honestly is IS bonnickx legit BECAUSE
i was still surprised to see Bon nicks play that.
Way but doesn't, matter because The broncos are Gonna they're
going to throw one the best defenses in the league
out on the field and just.

Speaker 2 (01:09:02):
Dare you to beat him with that. Defense and SO
i think.

Speaker 4 (01:09:06):
That's where The titans Play week. One that's going to
be a science experiment game for a couple of different.

Speaker 2 (01:09:10):
Reasons oh, YEAH i mean on the.

Speaker 3 (01:09:12):
Road oh, man that is less than ideal to put
your rookie quarterback out.

Speaker 2 (01:09:17):
There you, know it's just less than A.

Speaker 4 (01:09:19):
Hey you know, what if he's worth a damn go prove,
it you know What i'm, Saying, like not no slight
against Cam.

Speaker 5 (01:09:25):
Ward but like they're all going to be, tough right
they play.

Speaker 4 (01:09:28):
The rams In week two at, Home, like you don't
Think Jared versus is going to be coming for his
neck just as just as violently as The broncos defense,
Will like this is this is THE nfl baby step.

Speaker 2 (01:09:38):
UP i don't disagree with.

Speaker 3 (01:09:40):
THAT i just, think you, know ALL i ask is
that we have some level of context to that when
people freak out if the first game is not particularly,
glowing and you know that the one THING nfl fans
don't have his contexts right, Right like nobody's ever steps
back and, says, hey, guys, Relax like Cam ward's not
going to be judged to success or failure base done
anything that happens in the first four weeks of his.

(01:10:02):
Career if he throws no touchdowns in eighteen picks in
the first four weeks of his, career but through the
course of it all he figures it out over his rookie,
season it won't. Matter you just can't sell that to
Everybody in the. Moment it'll be this guy is.

Speaker 4 (01:10:14):
Falling how high up on this list or how low
on this list of overlook, storylines as he is the
number one overall. PICK i know you've talked about this
a little bit, before but, LIKE i feel like my
opinion is invalidated.

Speaker 5 (01:10:26):
HERE i cover them every. Day i've covered them.

Speaker 4 (01:10:28):
Every day for not this will be my ninth season
with The Tennessee, titans or covering The Tennessee. Titans BUT
i think that my opinion of it is jaded by
the fact THAT i don't.

Speaker 5 (01:10:37):
Care if he's, Overlooked, like just go play.

Speaker 4 (01:10:38):
Football you matter when you can matter publicly when you
start to matter on the, field and that franchise is
so far away from that THAT i JUST i couldn't
even possibly get myself to care about the idea of
Cam war being overlooked the way that some people like.
Yourself AND i Know Kyle brandt has grand standing on
this On Good Morning football a couple of. Times where

(01:10:59):
is the came more discussion in the midst of all.

Speaker 3 (01:11:02):
This, okay let me say, here you're not, wrong by the,
way when anybody says right, now, no.

Speaker 2 (01:11:07):
National media isn't giving my.

Speaker 3 (01:11:09):
Team any respect politely And raiders fans hear me on
this because y'all blow me up on it every, year
like who?

Speaker 2 (01:11:17):
Cares who cares.

Speaker 3 (01:11:19):
If your team is low in power rankings, today because
at the end of the, day if that person that's
power ranking is, right Like Frank swap does the power
rankings At, yahoo AND i believe he had The titans
at thirty, Two titans, fans if He's if he's, right
why trash talk him right now because he's. Right if he's,
wrong why not wait until the season gets going at

(01:11:40):
least before you start talking to your talk on, It
like everybody will reevaluate and then you can be properly
ranked based on what you've actually done on the. Field
that being, SAID i don't remember a first overall pick
like just look in the two, Thousands Michael, Vick Carr Palmer,
Manning Alex, Smith JaMarcus matthew Staff, For Sam, Bradford Cam,

(01:12:01):
Newton Andrew, Love Jameis, Winston Jared, Goff Baker, Mayfield Kyler,
Murray Joe, Burrow Trevor, Lawrence Bryce. Young that's every quarterback
selected first overall since two.

Speaker 2 (01:12:09):
Thousand we talk about. Those Even Bryce young In carolina
was talked about.

Speaker 3 (01:12:15):
CONSTANTLY i don't know That i've ever seen a first
overall pick quarterback just as, forgotten like the coverage for
shadur is going to be ten times with the coverage
for Cam ward is and the coverage for ANY i,
Mean Tyler schuck is going to get more preseason hype
than Cam ward at this. Point and that's just strange to.

(01:12:36):
Me it's strange to me that we have forgotten that
the number one overall pick was a quarterback that is
highly regarded and did go to a.

Speaker 2 (01:12:43):
Franchise that believes they have their guy for the next fifteen.

Speaker 5 (01:12:46):
Years you are correct.

Speaker 4 (01:12:48):
In, that AND i SHOULD i should be more graceful with,
it but Like i'm just They they have been such
a mess that organization that it's so hard for at
least me on a local level here in the city In,
Nashville tennessee that has a million different entertainment. Options like

(01:13:09):
give me one single solitary reason to give a damn
about that franchise other than Cam, Ord like he's the
only reason they're worth paying attention to in the first,
place and so beyond, that like he is a party
to how easy they are to collectively overlook because that
roster still has plenty of questions and Cam ward is
not going to be so great in his first year

(01:13:30):
that he's going to be able to overcome all of those.
Things SO I i this year to me for them
is just about Cam.

Speaker 5 (01:13:37):
Ward it's only about Cam.

Speaker 4 (01:13:38):
WARD i Know i'm going to be spending the vast
majority of my time talking about Cam, ward SO i Don't,
NATIONALLY i know we're doing something different. Here the overlooked
part of the conversation no matter where he was, Drafted
LIKE i don't, care go win a football, game show
me that you're worth talking.

Speaker 5 (01:13:55):
About, well part.

Speaker 3 (01:13:56):
Of that's always going to be The, titans. Too let's
not get it. TWISTED i Mean. Henry you would have
Thought Derrick henry's first year in THE nfl was last,
year the way they talked about him with The ravens deservedly,
so absolutely incredible. Seasons oh my, God rabel and The.
Patriots this, year it's been an off season Of. MIKE
i can't get him off my television. Screen and he
just went To New, england All New england of all. Places,

(01:14:16):
okay for all of that conversation about Cam, ward there's
one quarterback coming into year two AND i think we've
absolutely put too much praise behind And i'm concerned about.

Speaker 2 (01:14:28):
Him we'll tell you about it. Next He's Buck.

Speaker 3 (01:14:29):
Rising I'm Jason fitz bucks in For Anthony. Gargano it's
The fellas On Fox Sports.

Speaker 4 (01:14:34):
Radio there's one second year quarterback in THE nfl That
Jason fitz just ain't. Buying He's Jason, Fitz I'm Buck.
Rising it's The fellas here with you on This saturday
morning On Fox Sports. Radio we're happy to have you
along for the. Ride the rest of the crew making
it happen In Los. Angeles by the, way for the

(01:14:55):
best pregame show every, weekend be sure to tune Into
Fox Sports Radios countdown presented By BETT mgm Every saturday
And sunday morning from nine am to Noon eastern nine
to six to nine Am.

Speaker 5 (01:15:08):
Pacific got it flipped?

Speaker 4 (01:15:09):
Backwards, there we will count you down to all of
the biggest. Games tune Into countdown presented By BETT mgm
Every saturday And sunday morning right here On Fox Sports
radio and The iHeartRadio. App so there's a variety of
different second year quarterbacks to pick, from an interesting, class
six of them drafted in the first. Round going back

(01:15:32):
to the twenty twenty four, draft which of these quarterbacks,
fitsie some of who, played most of whom, played a
few of which did not due to injury or be
having a veteran incumbent in front of. Them which of
these quarterbacks are you not in on in twenty twenty?

Speaker 3 (01:15:49):
Five, Yeah like, AGAIN i root for everybody to go
out and just absolutely annihilate.

Speaker 2 (01:15:54):
It SO i Hope i'm wrong, here BUT.

Speaker 3 (01:15:56):
I think the small sample size that has become an
overarching statement of greatness For Michael Pennocks junior makes no
sense to. Me The falcons are one of the hottest
teams for analysts to turn around say they're gonna take,
You they're gonna be scary this. Year you were just
talking about THE Nfc, south and it has me thinking
About panics Since junior in. General let's remember last year

(01:16:17):
he completed fifty eight percent of his passes for seven
hundred and seventy five, yards three, touchdowns three.

Speaker 2 (01:16:26):
Picks like we have anointed.

Speaker 3 (01:16:28):
This, Whole, Like, Wow Kirk cousin is gonna have to
go somewhere else because he's not starting all of these different.
Things we've Anointed Penix like he came out and had
a rookie season for The. Ages he played in a
couple of games and he was pretty. Okay like that's
the more accurate take on, it if you take all
emotion behind the quarterback out of it and just look
at the actual. Information he played in a few games

(01:16:50):
and he was.

Speaker 2 (01:16:51):
FINE i, mean he Completely he even attempted one hundred
and five passes. Total, NOW i had this, problem to
be fair and in the WAY i look at.

Speaker 3 (01:17:00):
QUARTERBACKS i had the problem with the way that we
Cover Jordan love after essentially one season of starting where
he got annointed as the second, coming and half of
that season he was pretty, good and half of that
season he was pretty.

Speaker 2 (01:17:10):
Bad and SO i sat back and, SAID i want
to see. More i'm a proof of concept. GUY i
used that phrase too, much LIKE.

Speaker 3 (01:17:16):
I the more information we, have the more accurate our
takes can be about who we're seeing and what we're
seeing from. THEM i don't understand how anybody can have a,
glowing accurate take right now Of Michael Pennix junior's greatness
based on what we've seen in THE, nfl when what
we've seen in THE nfl has Been Michael Pennix junior's,
okayness and.

Speaker 2 (01:17:34):
We're just presuming that's going to take him massive leap.

Speaker 4 (01:17:36):
Forward, YEAH i haven't heard as much of that. Discussion
SO i am interested by this pick Because i've Just
i've operated that The falcons are going to be, solid
Because pennix was solid in what did he have three
starts last year with The Atlanta falcons and kind of
looking at the issues that they clearly wanted to address on.

(01:17:59):
Defense they have a fun skill group that you would
think would be able to take a step, there THOUGH
i think they're still trying to figure out The Kyle
pitts type of. Situation but as far as, that if
you had to rank their quarterback, room you couldn't put
them any higher than the low twenties between the two of,
them because If pennix doesn't work out and they have
to go back To cousins due to injury or any other,

(01:18:21):
Situation it's not like you have any great faith in
the completely Immobile Kirk cousins last, year who came out
like a house on fire but then very very quickly
faded down the stretch due to. Injury the other part
of this is when is the last time The falcons
have had a winning?

Speaker 5 (01:18:36):
Season do you know the?

Speaker 2 (01:18:37):
YEAR i don't.

Speaker 4 (01:18:39):
Know twenty seventeen is the last time that The Atlanta
falcons have had a winning record in THE. NFL i
don't expect that to outright turn. Around, then they finished
eight and nine last, year like they were scrappy, enough
they have something to build off. Of but they're front
SEVEN i would have put as the worst in the
league last. Year, obviously they address that in the draft this.

(01:19:02):
Year they're running back. GROUP i like their, RECEIVERS i
like their. QUARTERBACK i have a question about And Raheem
morris as a plus on the.

Speaker 5 (01:19:09):
SIDELINE i don't know if you would outright make him.

Speaker 4 (01:19:12):
That there are so many different things that have to
go right For Michael pennix to hint in the way
that it sounds like a lot of people are assuming
that he's going to hit that it's less about him
to me than it is in almost any situation like
the surrounding pieces and.

Speaker 3 (01:19:26):
Parts, YEAH i feel like The falcons are banking on
a move up From Michael Pennock junior to take a
move up and where they are in the, standings and to,
me that's an interesting thing to bank. On there's a
lot of fine with that, roster but there's not a
big leap forward to me until we see something more
from the quarterback position that we can actually bank.

Speaker 2 (01:19:45):
On we'll keep breaking.

Speaker 3 (01:19:46):
Down some of the most overlooked storylines and overhype. Teams
next The fellas On Fox Sports.

Speaker 1 (01:19:51):
Radio you're listening To Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (01:19:55):
Radio you made it.

Speaker 3 (01:19:57):
Through all the, fireworks through all the neighbors to that
they were gonna pop off fireworks too. LATE i didn't
realize that it has become such a contentious thing for
people On july, third particularly two people popping off, fireworks
apparently in the middle of the.

Speaker 2 (01:20:11):
Day it's Got buck rising. Angry He's Buck, Rising I'm Jason.
Fitz we're hanging out with.

Speaker 3 (01:20:14):
You it's The fellas On Fox Sports radio coming At
july from The Fox Sports radio, studios and it look
glorious weekend. Anytime the fourth Of july weekend just sort
of signifies we're midway through, summer we're getting around, there
the football season's almost, tier all of these things That
buck rolls his eyes. About But, buck are you are
you still angry that people were lighting off fireworks yesterday? Afternoon,

(01:20:36):
like come, on, like kids are out there letting things
explode and have.

Speaker 4 (01:20:40):
Fun, FAMOUSLY i don't like, children so that's you're.

Speaker 5 (01:20:47):
Not appealing to me. THERE i just, like what is the?

Speaker 4 (01:20:50):
PURPOSE A i Understand july, fourth you're gonna have fireworks,
like that's just what it. Is SO i made the necessary,
preparations as we talked, ABOUT i had my earplugs in
BECAUSE i KNEW i had to be to bed early
and up early.

Speaker 5 (01:21:01):
To hang out with you and the rest of the gang.

Speaker 4 (01:21:04):
In la who's having a who has a much more
difficult task than either of. Us but the people at
like two in the AFTERNOON, fitsi who are shooting.

Speaker 5 (01:21:15):
Off fireworks.

Speaker 4 (01:21:17):
For what what possible what possible utility could you get
out of in the daylight? Hours shooting off fireworks that
you can't actually. See maybe there's an initial like burst
of flame or something like. That maybe YOU'RE i don't,
know we Were Roman candles ever a thing like WHEN
i was WHEN i was in like grade, school middle school,

(01:21:40):
age The Harry potter movies were in full. Swing so
you'd get a couple Of Roman. Candles you go out
there and you do like you're In Harry. Potter not
that you would recommend to. That don't point firecrackers at
anybody Or Roman candles and, anybody but it, just you,
know we were dumb.

Speaker 5 (01:21:54):
Kids we did these.

Speaker 4 (01:21:55):
Things these are things that happen like so you would
do things like that in the street during the day
or whatever and be just like a flaming fireball shooting out.

Speaker 5 (01:22:02):
You so maybe that's WHAT.

Speaker 4 (01:22:04):
I was, Hearing but LIKE i heard like legit like fire,
fireworks like mortar fireworks in my neighborhood yesterday in a
middle of the.

Speaker 5 (01:22:12):
Afternoon those people need to be.

Speaker 4 (01:22:14):
Institutionalized there's not there's nothing, nothing.

Speaker 2 (01:22:18):
Why why how are?

Speaker 4 (01:22:21):
YOU i don't want to make it ANY i almost
made it an intelligence thing AND i don't want to
do that.

Speaker 5 (01:22:26):
Today but LIKE i just don't for what for?

Speaker 3 (01:22:29):
Whom, okay you've been to MANY nfl. Stadiums how many
of SAID nfl stadiums in the middle of the afternoon
on a touchdown still blow, up like the fireworks over
one end?

Speaker 5 (01:22:41):
ZONE a lot of, them most of, them all of.

Speaker 3 (01:22:44):
Them now can you can you see the fireworks and
the fireworks really mean?

Speaker 2 (01:22:49):
Anything?

Speaker 5 (01:22:49):
BUDDY i don't. KNOW i cover The. Titans they didn't
score enough touchdowns have fireworks last.

Speaker 3 (01:22:53):
Year, okay so most teams when there are touchdowns, involved
look like there's just something about things blowing up the,
people like you, know, people, everybody.

Speaker 2 (01:23:01):
Everybody if you can't see.

Speaker 4 (01:23:02):
The, explosion what's the, Point like you have do it
like at THE nfl, Stadium like they paid for the,
fireworks they have to do the. Fireworks i'm sure the
fireworks are sponsored or the touchdown situation of. Sponsored so
you like have some level of game day obligation, there
but like you are not obligated to shoot off fireworks
that you can't see in the middle of the. Afternoon
that is ludicrous to.

Speaker 3 (01:23:22):
ME i don't know, though when everybody became the firework.
Police in, Fairness i'm not a huge firework, person but
my my friends have always. Been and in fact that
there was one time that the neighbor definitely did In
nashville call the. Cops Because i've been gone so, MUCH
i didn't know that it was a dry like one
of those like no fireworks, allowed AND i mean a lot.

Speaker 2 (01:23:44):
Of stuff was blown up in the. BACKYARD a lot
of stuff.

Speaker 3 (01:23:46):
Was blown, up and the cops, came AND i JUST
i was honest about my, ignorance and they were. Great,
actually one of the officers was, like looks like it's
a wild. Party might come back After i'm off. Work so, like,
Look i'm a big proponent of just find your, Joy
LIKE i want everybody to find what makes them.

Speaker 2 (01:24:01):
Happy don't yuck your, yum go out, there have a good.

Speaker 3 (01:24:03):
TIME i just feel like this, year, particularly there's a
lot of crotchety people that have decided that they get
to decide when fireworks are gonna get Let, like people
were complaining about fireworks being blown up on the night
Of june, third and Then july, THIRD i, mean and
then everybody's complaining.

Speaker 2 (01:24:21):
Now the fireworks in the middle of the.

Speaker 3 (01:24:23):
Day i'm sure today somebody's gonna blow up. Fireworks and
this is where people will, say, oh think about the,
kids and think about my dogs and all these, things
Like i'm lucky that currently my dogs are not bothered by.

Speaker 2 (01:24:34):
Fireworks i'm very.

Speaker 3 (01:24:35):
Lucky But i've had dogs that you, Know Winnie rip was,
very very very scared of, fireworks and it's stunk and
it was really bad for AND i hugged on her
AND i loved. HER i knew it was the, worst
BUT i wouldn't have walked out in the street and been,
like you can't light your fireworks. Off it upsets my?
Dog like what are we as a? World it's a
fourth Of, july, man things blow, up people eat hot

(01:24:56):
hot dogs and. Hamburgers that's the.

Speaker 4 (01:24:57):
Tradition if there is a more recent trend in that
direction that you're noticing this, year that's.

Speaker 5 (01:25:04):
Fine AND i cannot account for other.

Speaker 4 (01:25:06):
PEOPLE i can only tell you That i've been this
way my entire.

Speaker 5 (01:25:09):
LIFE i thirty one years of.

Speaker 4 (01:25:10):
LIFE I i have filed noise complaints in years, past.

Speaker 5 (01:25:22):
And i'll do it, again damn.

Speaker 2 (01:25:24):
It LIKE I.

Speaker 4 (01:25:26):
I kind of exist to young people's yum because more
often than not it ain't my young. Baby i'm not
down for, It, Okay so IF i IF i feel the,
need If i'm particularly irritated on a, day and like.

Speaker 5 (01:25:40):
Some of, it some of it has just been unsafe like.

Speaker 4 (01:25:43):
That that is an extreme situation WHERE i have filed
a noise complaint because people are shooting off fireworks in
the middle of my street and there's not a lot
of like there's not a lot of room to be
shooting off, Fireworks like they're basically hitting the power lines
and stuff like. That you know What i'm, Saying like
recklessness out.

Speaker 5 (01:26:01):
There So i'm down for. It if you are in
the if you.

Speaker 4 (01:26:05):
Don't have access to like a public firework, display if
you live in a, city you more than likely. DO
i live in Downtown. Nashville you have firework displays all
over the. Place you can go to a sounds, Game
Minor League, baseball they do. Fireworks you can go. Downtown
Let freedom. SING i know you don't like that, name
but they got A Dirk spentley concert down.

Speaker 5 (01:26:25):
There with a whole bunch of fireworks for.

Speaker 4 (01:26:27):
You if you live in a more remote, location you
got to do your own fireworks.

Speaker 5 (01:26:30):
Show i'm for.

Speaker 4 (01:26:31):
THAT i get that you've got a more individualized. Experience that's,
fine BUT i will absolutely bring your party down if
you try to mess up my.

Speaker 3 (01:26:40):
Night fun, fact in at least the suburbs Of nashville
WHEN i lived. There in the north Of, nashville you
can go get a Noise ordnance. Exception so you go
to City hall and you tell Them i'm having a
party this night And i'm gonna make, noise and so
they give you usually till like eleven eleven thirty at.
Night and as Buck, NOSE i used to throw a

(01:27:01):
Massive halloween, party and SO i quickly figured out THAT
i needed to get that. Exception and it is the
just such the personification of our personalities that you're the
one calling the police And i'm the one that goes
to get the letter from the city and.

Speaker 2 (01:27:15):
Holds it and waits for that just.

Speaker 3 (01:27:17):
Mean old lady down the street to come as she
did every, year just nasty old woman would come down the.
Street she'd start yelling about the noise at ten thirty at,
night and, MAN i had that piece of paper in my.

Speaker 2 (01:27:28):
Hand it just was waiting for the.

Speaker 3 (01:27:30):
Conflict come, on, lady come to my, fence BECAUSE i
got my noise ordinance and you can't do a damn
thing about.

Speaker 4 (01:27:36):
It, OH i would be so mad IF i was
met with a noise ordinance approval whatever whatever that piece
of paper, IS i would.

Speaker 3 (01:27:48):
Point the speaker at her house once she came, By
like once she came over to the house to tell
me that the noise was too. Much all, right now
the karaoke system is going to be pointed directly towards their.
House oh my, god do like killing me softly with
two hundred people standing around a, microphone and we're going
to do a pointed right at her house until the,
Minute like if that thing.

Speaker 4 (01:28:08):
Was pretty, SURE I i sung killing me softly on
your karaoke machine at A halloween party several years.

Speaker 2 (01:28:13):
Ago that's What that's What that's how it. Goes you,
know there's no doubt like.

Speaker 3 (01:28:18):
That, look so, Yes i'm not surprised you were making
the complaints so That i'm the one out here.

Speaker 5 (01:28:23):
TRYING i didn't make any complaints.

Speaker 4 (01:28:25):
Yesterday i'm just saying it HAS i would be disingenuous
IF i Said i've never filed a noise complaint.

Speaker 3 (01:28:31):
Before so you're out on, fireworks you're out on. People
are you out on like you're like hamburgers and hot?
Dogs or did you do any of that?

Speaker 4 (01:28:41):
YESTERDAY i did grill. OUT i did grill. OUT i
did some bone and chicken. BREAST i did some. BRODS
i did a little bit of almond flour, brownies like we.

Speaker 5 (01:28:51):
Did you know we do almond flower brownies health. Conscious
don't don't make a face at, me like you're not
counting the.

Speaker 4 (01:28:58):
Macros LOOK i. AM i got A Trader joe's one time.
Rednick all, right you'll find some healthy. Option maybe not
that it's still a, brownie but you, know a little healthier.

Speaker 3 (01:29:06):
BROWNIE i do not go To Trader joe's like this
out Of. Pierce i'm not going to stand for an
hour in line to get the same THING i can get,
it you, know the Local, kroger basically like it just
just feel.

Speaker 4 (01:29:19):
You cannot want those two things in the same. Sentence
that is blasphemous by. YOU i won't stand for.

Speaker 5 (01:29:23):
It my pretentious paper bag will not stand for. It
you and Your kroger bag get out of. HERE i,
yeah SO i like to grill out AND i Like
fourth Of july. Events it's JUST i don't know what it.

Speaker 4 (01:29:34):
Is fits in the last couple of, years If i'm
not actively at a fireworks, celebration they just pissed. Me
they made me so, angry AND i don't know what
when in my life that turn.

Speaker 5 (01:29:46):
HAPPENED i don't think That i'm old enough to.

Speaker 4 (01:29:48):
Be able to have an opinion like, that even THOUGH
i absolutely. Do but it has been something that has
just gotten progressively worse and worse over the. Years MAYBE
i just need to start going to the downtown fireworks,
situation BECAUSE i KNOW i have fun every TIME i
go Because i'm. Active i'm an active and willing. Participant
but when you force me to be a part of
your firework, show that's WHERE i start to get shipped.

Speaker 3 (01:30:10):
Upset let me ask you, this are you getting like
comped bottle service In nashville for The fourth Of?

Speaker 2 (01:30:18):
July do you have the we got those kinds of
poles you think you're.

Speaker 5 (01:30:21):
AM I i didn't this, year HAVE? I?

Speaker 2 (01:30:24):
YES i, mean if you're getting comped bottle, service then
you go like that's the way it.

Speaker 3 (01:30:28):
Goes and, YEAH i will be an elitist about the
bags because you live in a state where grocery stores
give you bags for. FREE i live in a state
where you have to pay ten cents for.

Speaker 2 (01:30:36):
Everyone.

Speaker 3 (01:30:37):
Everybody, yeah, no like they charge. You that's at every,
store at every. Store it doesn't matter what.

Speaker 2 (01:30:42):
Store you go. Into if you need a, bag it's
ten cents per.

Speaker 6 (01:30:45):
Back so for you, Too, california we have to pay
ten cents at the grocery.

Speaker 3 (01:30:49):
Store if we wanted to, know what is the purpose of,
that it's IT'S i, Mean connecticut's the second highest tax
state in the.

Speaker 2 (01:30:56):
Country, like that's another. Tax oh my. God, yeah if you,
go it's amazing how many things you can. Fit it's the.

Speaker 5 (01:31:04):
One TIME i would care about the cost of.

Speaker 4 (01:31:05):
Something if somebody tried to charge me ten cents for
a grocery, BAG i would lose.

Speaker 2 (01:31:08):
It, no, YEAH i did for like. That and then everybody's, like,
well you know, what.

Speaker 5 (01:31:12):
You just take your own.

Speaker 2 (01:31:13):
Bag, okay that works.

Speaker 3 (01:31:15):
For like a month until you realize that your back
in the back of your trunk is just full with
all of These Like i'm just not gonna do. It
so instead you put seven hundred and thirty two items
in one flimsy paper sack that is not meant to
hold more than like four, things all to save ten.

Speaker 2 (01:31:29):
Cents so that is you, know, yeah, Yeah i'm a bag.
Elitist i'll admit that that's.

Speaker 5 (01:31:34):
PHRASING I i think that.

Speaker 4 (01:31:41):
It's just one of one of many reasons Why tennessee
is the best state in The.

Speaker 5 (01:31:45):
Union that's just what it.

Speaker 2 (01:31:46):
Is, Okay there's so, many so.

Speaker 5 (01:31:49):
Many reasons why that's not the.

Speaker 2 (01:31:51):
Case there are so. Many, well you got.

Speaker 4 (01:31:55):
To smoke your weed pen and the target AND i
get to not be charged for grocery.

Speaker 5 (01:31:59):
Bags cost benefit analysis.

Speaker 2 (01:32:01):
Here i'm winning on that. One i'm. Winning.

Speaker 3 (01:32:04):
Speak speaking of, winning there's ONE nfl team that has
done a lot of, it AND i think that's gonna
end this.

Speaker 2 (01:32:10):
Year we'll tell you about it. Next it's The.

Speaker 4 (01:32:57):

nfl no.

Speaker 5 (01:33:05):
Different there's certainly more halves and have nots than there
ever have been in the last.

Speaker 4 (01:33:11):
Season twenty twenty four was a bloodbath for the bad,
teams and we've went through that at great. Length good,
morning welcome in if you're just now joining.

Speaker 5 (01:33:19):
Us it's The fellas On Fox Sports.

Speaker 4 (01:33:22):
Radio He's Jason, Fitz I'm Buck. Rising we're hanging out
with you until nine a. M. Eastern plenty of, teams,
though established themselves at the. Top you had the, bills
you had The, ravens The texans in a cakewalk of a.
Division The chiefs labored to fifteen, wins but they got.

(01:33:42):
There and of, course teams like The Super bowl Champion,
eagles The, lions The vikings all manner of great teams
like the best of the, best were truly excellent.

Speaker 5 (01:33:53):
In twenty twenty.

Speaker 4 (01:33:54):
Four but as we, know THE nfl doesn't just stand
for The National Football league stands for not for, Long
and just because you've had success in one season does
not mean that that will correlate directly to another season
year over. Year So Jason fitz has some regression, candidates
or at least one.

Speaker 5 (01:34:13):
That he's keeping an eye.

Speaker 4 (01:34:14):
On i've put together a list of several THAT i
think could take a step back in twenty twenty FIVE
fitsi where does the ball get?

Speaker 5 (01:34:21):
Rolling for?

Speaker 4 (01:34:22):
You on teams most likely to take a step back
from their most recent winning, ways.

Speaker 3 (01:34:28):
Look for, Me San francisco is a huge part of this, conversation,
RIGHT i want to talk about teams THAT i think
are going to be taking a step. BACK i just
don't know why we presume everything's going to be just
sunshine and roses with The San francisco team that clearly
has some injury issues that right. Now it's great to

(01:34:51):
if you're a forty Nine ers, fan everything's going to be,
healthy everything's going to be.

Speaker 2 (01:34:54):
Glorious but if you're just.

Speaker 3 (01:34:56):
Stepping back with no emotional investment in, it it's pretty
easy to see that The christian McCaffrey injury stuff has
become a, problem and what he's gonna look like from
that is a bit of an. Unknown they've got injury
issues on the offensive, line they had injury issues on
the defense last. YEAR i, mean they just they were
riddled by injuries and they're not getting any younger.

Speaker 2 (01:35:14):
Now they Pay Rock, party WHICH i don't have any
hard time.

Speaker 3 (01:35:16):
With by the, WAY i don't support or believe the
narrative that you can't win after you pay your. Quarterback
it's a bunch of. Junks so, yes you can still
win a lot of football. Games but, Man i'm struggling
to see that the tangible ways the forty Nine ers
got better this. Year and if you look At Kyle
shanahan and you know sort of his coaching history year by,
year like it's usually either really good or it's really.

(01:35:41):
Not like you look back at six and, ten four and,
twelve thirteen and, three six and, ten then double digit
wins three years in a, row six and, Eleven, like
this is not a middling five hundred.

Speaker 2 (01:35:51):
Team this is either a good or bad football. Team
so right, now IF i have.

Speaker 3 (01:35:54):
To make a bet on whether or not they're gonna
be good or, BAD i think while regression are weird
were to use coming off of six and, ELEVEN i
still see people everywhere trying to tell me that the
forty Nine ers are a double digit win. TEAM i
think they're much closer to being the six and eleven
team that we saw last.

Speaker 4 (01:36:11):
Year certainly when you look at their, schedule it's one
of the more difficult in THE nfl this. Year and
the way THAT i look at The, niners it wasn't a,
collapse but they just like, slowly it slowly started to
eat at. Them right it's like. Erosion the forty Nine
ers last year eroded down piece by, piece star player

(01:36:32):
by star, player like name brand. Commodity they just started
to fall by the wayside and all of a, sudden
they're playing close games last year fits which would be
The niners fan reason for, optimism but they struggled down
the stretch because at the end of the, day the
roster that they started the year with was simply not
the roster that they were competing at the end. With

(01:36:54):
they have such a degree of difficulty this year where
they open away The, seahawks then they have a couple
of dates at home against The cardinals and The, jags
who may not be world beaters or anything like, that
but The cardinals were more frisky THAN i think a
lot of people. Realize you probably weren't watching Many cardinals.
Game i'm not talking to you, specifically but this the

(01:37:16):
general public probably not watching The Arizona cardinals very much
down the, stretch but they're competitive The. Jags you're banking
On Liam cohen fixing The Trevor lawrence. Problem but If,
jacksonville If jacksonville actually, hit which is crazy to think
because he's on a fifty five million dollar year, contract
but if they actually truly and genuinely hit On Trevor,

(01:37:36):
lawrence that has the potential to upset The apple, cart
not just in that, division which is, weak but in
THE afc Writ Large, Rams, Bucks, Texans, Rams, Again, Cardinals, Colts,
bears teams that we think could be frisky enough to
cause a team like The niners. Problems they're all on
their schedule down the stretch at this point in, time

(01:37:58):
and you, know maybe it's just a product of Covering
Derrick henry's entire career here In. Tennessee BUT i just
think every running back that has been held up as
the next best thing or the best at their, Position
christian McCaffrey does not hold a candle To Derrick henry to,
me and it's for no other reason than. Availability maybe

(01:38:19):
McCaffrey is the more versatile. Player let me not denigrate
What christian McCaffrey is when he's, right but he's so
rarely right throughout the course of his, career not just
In San, francisco but In. Carolina that was the whole
thing after they gave him that big second. Deal he's
simply not. AVAILABLE i don't foresee that getting better with

(01:38:39):
age in the way that it has For Derrick. Henry
he's remarkable that. Way BUT i think that speaks kind
of the to where The niners roster is right.

Speaker 5 (01:38:49):
Now it's a depreciating.

Speaker 4 (01:38:51):
Asset it has been for some, time but now we're
truly starting to see them come into a phase of
their life cycle where it's about all, right are you
gonna have a hard reset here or are you just gonna
slowly fade into the. Background as six.

Speaker 5 (01:39:08):
Wins you're not what the worst team in THE?

Speaker 4 (01:39:10):
Nfl, right six wins for A niners fan probably feels
like bottoming. Out let me tell you with somebody who
covered a three win team last year That i'm bottoming.

Speaker 3 (01:39:17):
Out, look if you're a forty Nine ers, fan you
feel like your window is supposed to be right now
to win. Championships and that's why the six and eleven
season is so. Jarring and then it's quick and easy to, say,
hey you know, what that it's, fine that's just an,
outlier And i'm not sure it. Is your McCaffrey points
an important one if you look over the course of
the last few. YEARS i, mean he played four games last,

(01:39:40):
year he played sixteen the year. Before that's, great but
then before that eleven, Six, like there's only been a
couple of times in the last eight years that he's
played every game of a. Season so, now, realistically, yes
LIKE i, SAID i think you can still win after
you pay your. QUARTERBACK i think the important thing after
you pay your quarterback is all the rest of the
things have to break the right. Way you have to
to do things the smart. Way you have to have

(01:40:02):
a very GOOD gm that knows how to maximize cheap
labor across the. Board that's why The eagles can certainly
continually restock their. Roster they got the right mind to
be able to do. THAT i don't know that the
forty nine ers did. That SO i think regression is
a pretty easy thing to.

Speaker 2 (01:40:17):
See.

Speaker 3 (01:40:17):
There who else who stands out to you When i've
got a couple other teams that stand up for, Aggression
but who else stands out to?

Speaker 9 (01:40:23):
You?

Speaker 5 (01:40:23):
WASHINGTON i, mean, yep that.

Speaker 4 (01:40:27):
WHICH i, hate by the, way because they're so much,
fun or at least they were last. Year and you've
mentioned this. Before all you want to do is See
Jaden daniel succeed and a franchise that's been down tremendous
FOR i don't, know two decades with terrible ownership that's
finally realized some level of success and real, success Right

(01:40:48):
AN nfc championship appearance against a divisional opponent is a huge,
accomplishment even if it didn't go their way at.

Speaker 5 (01:40:55):
The end of that.

Speaker 4 (01:40:56):
Game But washington caught magic in a at the right
time they hit on the, quarterback which makes a huge.
Difference but the thing here to me more than anything
else is they were so remarkably, healthy so remarkably.

Speaker 5 (01:41:13):
Healthy last year they Add.

Speaker 4 (01:41:14):
Deebo, samuel which in theory should make their skill group.

Speaker 5 (01:41:19):
Better BUT i don't.

Speaker 4 (01:41:20):
Know If Deebo samuel And Cliff kingsbury's creative And cliff
what it would call it The Cliff assance last, year
The Cliff kingsbury renaissance where he's backing better than ever
and is he Gonna Is cliff going to hit the cliff?
Eventually week after week we were asking ourselves that, question
or defense is gonna figure him? Out he really did
a nice job of. ADJUSTING i think he ends up

(01:41:43):
as a head coach sooner rather than. Later, again if
he wants, to and provided that the situation is right for,
him he may be contend to be a.

Speaker 5 (01:41:50):
COORDINATOR i couldn't speak to, that But.

Speaker 4 (01:41:53):
Washington feels like the highs were so high last year
that even even if there was, regression they could still
be a ten win football team and take a meaningful step.
Back they can still be competitive in a division THAT i.
THINK i, mean it's. Winnable The eagles are having their

(01:42:13):
own version of a reset where they let a lot
of name brand players, go they draft a lot of those.
Replacements those guys will take some time to get up
to speed and be truly ready to reopen that championship.
Window But philadelphia can still be competitive in the. Meantime
doesn't Mean washington could win the division and still take
a step, back you know What i'm. Saying, like but
that to, me based on how excellent they were unexpectedly last,

(01:42:38):
year that feels like the potential to feel the most
like a drop.

Speaker 3 (01:42:43):
Off, Yeah and part of this is the analytics will show.
You the metrics will show you That washington was one
of the luckiest teams IN nfl history last, year and
certainly players within the organization towards the end of the
year addressed that by, saying, well we practice for these
situations every, day so it's not, luck it's.

Speaker 2 (01:42:59):
PREPARATION i don't.

Speaker 3 (01:43:00):
KNOW i think every team practices, for you, know late game,
scenarios and you don't really practice for Hail mary where
somebody walks off the. Field like it's just the number
of weird things that happened last year that turned out
to Benefit, washington which is.

Speaker 2 (01:43:16):
Great LIKE i every.

Speaker 3 (01:43:18):
Day of my, life at some point in my LIFE
i say the phrase better to be lucky than, Good
LIKE i believe that at some point that is just
part of. Life i'm all in on. That but you
can't bank on. Luck you can't pay your mortgage with.
Luck you don't call you, know Wells fargo and, say,
Hey i'm pretty sure the scratch offs are going to
play my way and you will get your mortgage payment on,

(01:43:38):
time and that if you're AN nfl team banking on,
LUCK i don't think that that's a smart way to
bank moving.

Speaker 2 (01:43:44):
Forward SO i think you're. Right.

Speaker 3 (01:43:45):
Regression regression is a word THAT i have to be
careful With commanders BECAUSE i still think they're a very
good football. Team to your, POINT i would argue last
Year houston regressed compared to what we, expected but they
still won ten. Games they're still clearly the best team
in their. Division so like two things can be. True
you can regress while also still being a very good football,

(01:44:06):
team and that's WHAT i think The commanders will.

Speaker 4 (01:44:08):
Be, yeah they were both lucky and good last, year
and one of those things is likely to, regress, Right
they feel like.

Speaker 5 (01:44:15):
They have staying.

Speaker 4 (01:44:15):
Power SO i have five teams here THAT i wrote
down that could take a step back from what we
are accustomed seeing or what we most recently. Saw The
seahawks won ten games last. Year Gino smith is now
with your Beloved Las Vegas. Raiders Pete carroll is now
with your Beloved Las Vegas.

Speaker 5 (01:44:32):
Raiders he's been.

Speaker 4 (01:44:34):
He took some time or they moved him out of
the role In seattle last, year and now he's back
to try and rebuild at seventy three years, old which is,
crazy BUT i could see the logic there in bringing him.
In you Add Sam darnold and you change up your.
Offense offensive Coordinator Ben GRUBB i believe he was the

(01:44:55):
offensive coordinator For seattle last, year and he has since moved.

Speaker 5 (01:44:58):
On that was not a situation.

Speaker 4 (01:45:00):
That played out the way THAT i think they would
have liked.

Speaker 5 (01:45:03):
For it to play, out And seattle being.

Speaker 4 (01:45:08):
As good a team as any in that, division simply
not making the playoffs by nature of a tiebreaker situation
with The, rams who also were ten and seven last, Year,
seattle to, me is an interesting candidate for this though
they can still be a good football. Team we talked
about the vikings earlier in the, show specifically with the

(01:45:30):
quarterback change and the nature of the changes that are
happening there jj McCarthy being an unknown, commodity an unproven
commodity known to them but not to the rest of
THE nfl consuming. WORLD i think that when you look
at The, niners as you, mentioned that feels like more
of a one that we are used to being a

(01:45:51):
contender that will take a step, back and Then pittsburgh
winning ten games, perpetually nine games, perpetually.

Speaker 5 (01:45:58):
That would be a stretched to.

Speaker 4 (01:46:00):
Me even If Aaron rodgers is better than what they,
had AND i do Think Aaron rodgers is clearly and
obviously better than what they had And Russell wilson last,
year BUT i just don't know if they as a
team are better on the. Whole Dan, moore they're left,
tackle not the best in, football but he signed an
eighty two million dollar deal to come here To. Tennessee

(01:46:21):
was good enough as a league average left tackle to
pick up and go somewhere else and get a mega.
Contract that's not something that you can assume with. Continuity For.
Pittsburgh you saw how Much rogers without mobility at his
age struggled behind a poor offensive. Line So, Steelers, Vikings, Commanders,
seahawks and then Just niners as a perennial contender the

(01:46:43):
way that we've talked about them taking a step, back
that's the list of five teams that makes the most
sense to.

Speaker 3 (01:46:48):
Me i've also Got detroit on that, list not because
they don't Like detroit. OVERALL i mean the talent's still.
THERE i just they went fifteen to two last.

Speaker 5 (01:46:58):
Year, yeah it's brain, drain losing your.

Speaker 4 (01:47:00):
Coordinators you just gotta be you gotta have a little
bit of suspicion about that for.

Speaker 2 (01:47:03):
Sure, yeah SO i DON'T i don't Love.

Speaker 3 (01:47:05):
Detroit and Also i'll give you a middle of the
pack team THAT i think regresses this, year and That's.
MIAMI i, Mean miami was eight and nine last, year
and the vibes are. Off like this is such, oversimplification
but you know, this where there's, smoke there's, fire Right,
Like so when you constantly see a team and you're,
LIKE i don't, KNOW i don't, Know, like it is
amazing to me how much we have seen For mike

(01:47:26):
McDaniel to come out and flat out, admit, Hey i've
tried finding players to because they're, late they still won't
show up on. Time LIKE i just there's something wrong In.
Miami AND i don't know what that thing is that's
wrong In, miami but something in the vibes are wrong In.
Miami i'm not somebody that believes That Zach wilson has
a great future in THE nfl, still so the fact
that that's their backup, Option LIKE i, believe if you

(01:47:48):
are the if Your chris, career THE gm of The Miami,
dolphins you have an. Obligation your obligation day, one minute
one is to come in and, say you know, what
if we are going to run this thing With tua
as our core and that's.

Speaker 2 (01:48:00):
Fine if we're gonna presume the two is.

Speaker 3 (01:48:03):
Our, quarterback then we need a backup quarterback, that no matter,
what we can rely.

Speaker 2 (01:48:06):
ON i don't know why That's Zach.

Speaker 3 (01:48:08):
WILSON i love the concept Of Aaron, Rodgers Sam, Darnold
Gino smith And Zack, wilson all Former jets coming out
and having absolutely incredible seasons like.

Speaker 2 (01:48:18):
That the troll in me loves, That but MAN i.

Speaker 3 (01:48:21):
DON'T i don't love the quarterback room comfort in the
quarterback room For.

Speaker 2 (01:48:26):
MIAMI i Think miami could take a step, back and
that means possible regime.

Speaker 4 (01:48:29):
Change why would You why would you do that To jets.
Fans they haven't done nothing to. You all they do is.

Speaker 5 (01:48:34):
Lose you're gonna kick them all.

Speaker 3 (01:48:36):
Fans all they do is all they do is run
their dang mouse like they're just at the top of the.
Mountain every Single jets fans always gonna Be like When
Aaron rodgers signed AND i was Doing daily With Harry
douglas at the, Time harry AND i had a simple conversation, about,
Man i'm not sure they're gonna bring in all these
older guys to team With Aaron rodgers and they've got

(01:48:56):
a young core that's pretty.

Speaker 2 (01:48:57):
Good is it worth?

Speaker 3 (01:48:58):
It and we got just destroyed for two weeks By jets.
Fans they're, like you don't know what the hell you're talking.
About they're keeping their they're doing this. Perfectly they're bringing
In Aaron rodgers and it's gonna work out.

Speaker 2 (01:49:09):
Awesome you're a. Moron this is the typical stuff on.

Speaker 3 (01:49:12):
It it's, like if your team, stinks all, right just
look if your And i'll talk to my own fan base,
Here i'll talk to Fellow raiders. Fans if your team,
stinks stop talking your.

Speaker 2 (01:49:22):
Talk you don't have any talk. Left your team.

Speaker 3 (01:49:25):
Sucks like that means that whatever your argument, is your team.

Speaker 2 (01:49:30):
Sucks and if your.

Speaker 3 (01:49:31):
Argument is to go to A chiefs fan and be, like,
oh how to feel to lose The Super bowl better
than it felt to win five?

Speaker 2 (01:49:37):
Games, like if your team is.

Speaker 3 (01:49:40):
Pathetic then stop running your mouth and, Man i'm telling, you,
like there's just an element of every Year jets fans
come in just. Yapping they Are they are like a.
Chihuahua they are, yapping and they got no power behind.

Speaker 4 (01:49:52):
It that is that's a perpetual offseason problem, though because
you're you're asking fans to do the most unfani like
thing in the, world which is to be rack about
their current. Circumstance and if they, were then we would
not have as many engaging conversations as we do and
as much hope to traffick in as the offseason. Provides
nobody really loses the off season unless you're The browns

(01:50:13):
of The, jets and they do seem to do a
good enough job of that on a regular. Basis The miami,
thing just going back to your. POINT i GUESS i
don't think about them as a regression candidate Because i've
never bought them in the first. Place Under mike McDaniel And,
tua they AND i WISH i could give proper. CREDIT

(01:50:33):
i can't remember who compared their offense to A ferrari
in the snow when it has to go on the
road in the playoffs In Kansas, city but it's there's
not been a more apt comparison to me that they
are paper tigers in this current, Iteration tua is not
something that you can trust on a, weekend week out,
basis not because of, performance but because of. Availability AND

(01:50:57):
i don't know how long he's going to want to
continue to do. This we've had the discussions around is
it even safe for him to continue playing, Football and
of course that's his, choice and it's difficult to watch
when he goes through these things specific to. Concussion mike, McDaniel,
though like the shine has clearly and obviously worn off
Of mike. McDaniel Eccentric, Miami, mike you, know is he

(01:51:20):
vaping on the? Sideline, oh he's just. Here he's he's
here for a good, time not a long. Time type of.
Situation oh, look he's got as nice as nice a
fashion sense as many of the players on his. Roster
he looks like he really fits in. There he's got the.
Vibe but he didn't. WIN i, mean he, wins but
he doesn't really, win, Right he doesn't beat anybody that.

(01:51:40):
Matters they is a, franchise feel like they might have had,
something but it's it's been so fleeting THAT i DON'T
i don't HAVE i Don't i've never had a reason
to truly trust. Them Brian flores gets a lot of
crap for the way that things went down To, miami
and that's that's. FINE a lot of it's. DESERVED i

(01:52:01):
think he was unnecessarily hateful Towards tua in the way
that he handled that. Situation and it's tough for anybody
to operate in a work environment like, that not the
least of which a professional, quarterback a young professional quarterback
coming in who's got a certain, attitude and his head
coach clearly wasn't about. It SO i think that does
make a, difference and it did make a difference For

(01:52:22):
tua for a, time but then you, know things go
the way that you expect him to. Go with the
player that you can't trust to be out there on
a regular, basis and when he's not out, there their
offense that has already a little bit. Suspected just it
Doesn't it doesn't operate the same. Way it can't possibly
operate the same, way because what makes too a special
is also what makes that offense.

Speaker 3 (01:52:43):
Special you are right that it feels like the shine
has worn. Off and the philosophical Question i've been asked
a million times by one of our mutual, friends is
If miami hadn't put seventy up in one, game how
much different would we see this in hire?

Speaker 5 (01:53:00):
Franchise wasn't that against The? Broncos?

Speaker 4 (01:53:02):
Yeah you weren't The broncos starting a wide receiver a
quarterback in that? Game or was that a more recent
seventy seventy? BURGER i think, No, no that was The
saints that The broncos started that wide receiver. Against that
was like A covid. Years that's what.

Speaker 3 (01:53:17):
You're putting seventy points up in AN nfl. Game it
changes the way everybody perceives you right or, wrong and
that changed some of these. THINGS i think regression to
me means he go from eight wins to.

Speaker 2 (01:53:28):
Five, LIKE i think The.

Speaker 3 (01:53:29):
Dolphins have a chance this year to be a really
bad football, team which raises the, question if that were to,
happen what's it mean for the hot? Seat because there
are some hot seat candidates out. There we'll break some
of that. Down it's The. Fellas he's, uh He's Buck
rising in For Anthony. Gargano I'm Jason, fitzer hanging out
with you On Fox Sports radio or.

Speaker 4 (01:53:47):
In the heat of the summer On july the fifth
here On Fox Sports. Radio so that means a little
hot seat talk is. Warranted welcome back to The. Fellas
He's jason Fitz you can't see him lip syncing right,
now BUT i. Can I'm Buck. Rising we're happy to
be with you until nine a. M eastern here on
the Show Hot seat in THE. Nfl who belongs there

(01:54:12):
versus who actually is? There THAT i think is a
conversation worth. Having but IF i gave you the two,
options who do you definitively know to be on the
hot seat and who do you think should be on
the hot? Seat, fitzy where would you like to? Start
Because i've got lists for. Both we're in the midst
of list. SEASON i came prepared.

Speaker 3 (01:54:29):
Today, Look i'm your concept there of where do you
want to, Be like who's actually on the hot seat
versus who's perceived to is actually a brilliant one BECAUSE
i would argue that's in my mind everybody in The
dolphins organization front.

Speaker 2 (01:54:45):
Office, hey, coach they're all on the hot.

Speaker 3 (01:54:47):
Seat AND i don't think they're on the hot seat
if the team goes eight to nine, Again but if
the team goes five and, twelve THEN i.

Speaker 2 (01:54:54):
Mean what do you?

Speaker 3 (01:54:55):
Do how do you manage to keep the expectation that
you're going to keep that? COACH i, think you, know
starting where we were With miami there on the hot.
SEAT i think that in the city you're in that
If I'm Brian. Callahan for, ME i am a head
coach in my second. Year the first year went drastically.
Bad THE gm that now runs the organization in THEORY

(01:55:15):
i use their, quotes did not hire.

Speaker 2 (01:55:17):
Me AND i have the first overall pick the. QUARTERBACK
i am dead man.

Speaker 3 (01:55:20):
Walking SO i am, clearly in my mind on the
hot seat because there is nobody in that room that
has to be committed to. You if you Are Amy
Adams strunk the owner of The. Titans you need to
be committed to Cam. Ward you'd like to be committed
to YOUR gm because you just hired him a few months.
Ago that means if you're going through your list of,
commitments when the head coach is number three on that, list,

(01:55:41):
oh that screams hot seat to. Me so those are
two that come right off the top of my head
as LIKE i think could could be and should be
on the hot seat table is one, that, LIKE i
think The giants already should have fired.

Speaker 2 (01:55:55):
Him this to me is this Year's. Eberflus it's just
this Year's.

Speaker 3 (01:55:59):
Ebraflus Really, Yeah, like, LOOK i, mean how Is dabele
going to justify keeping his job by winning a bunch of? Games,
well That giant's roster. Sucks you're not going to win enough.
Games so now the only.

Speaker 5 (01:56:11):
Way you pass rush does, suck but everything else.

Speaker 2 (01:56:13):
Does oh, no you're.

Speaker 3 (01:56:14):
Right that defensive line is, great but you're going to get.
Creamed and best case, scenario you're going to be third
in your own. Division that's best case probably going to be.
Fourth and so the only way you're getting anywhere is
if your rookie quarterback is just such a development monster.

Speaker 2 (01:56:31):
That it's, like, no this is the right. Combo we
don't want to mess that combo.

Speaker 11 (01:56:34):
Up but more often than, not that guy still gets, fired,
man especially when the owner has already publicly expressed a
level of impatience in bringing both of them Back Brian
Dave all the head coach And Joe shane the general.

Speaker 4 (01:56:47):
Manager and it does sound like the two of them
are a package. Deal so if one, goes both go
at this.

Speaker 3 (01:56:52):
Point the way they should, Be LIKE i think every
team if you're firing a coach and A gm and
you're doing it a different. Cycles, man the biggest fail
in the ENTIRE nfl building block to me is when
your coach AND gm aren't on the same, clock because
if they're not on the same, clock there's never. Accountability
and this is what you live like where all of

(01:57:13):
a sudden it's, like all, right well the, coach the
coach isn't the, problem we need to fire THE. Gm,
well THE gm didn't hire this coach to THE gm
brings in the new, coach and the coachesn't the, problem
so we fired THE. Gm like this is Just i've
watched this vicious. Cycle it.

Speaker 4 (01:57:26):
Sucks does it make a difference to you at, all
that it almost never happens the way that you think it,
should like the way that head coaches and general managers
get brought in at the same. Time like if you
look up and down the list OF nfl, teams there
are very very few gms and head coaches who have
actually been brought in on the same. Timeline now that

(01:57:47):
doesn't mean that that's the correct way to do. It
it may still speak to what you're, saying which is
that a lot of these franchises get caught.

Speaker 5 (01:57:53):
Up in this never ending.

Speaker 4 (01:57:54):
CYCLE i, mean my, god this franchise THAT i cover
here locally In, nashville The, titans have been an Unholy
the owner can't make up her mind as far as
what decision or what direction she wants to, go and
she doesn't commit to a direction once she's gotten a.
SITUATION i mean Ran carthon, here who was the most
recent general manager prior To Mike borgonzi being hired from

(01:58:16):
The chiefs this. Offseason they gave him two, years but
it wasn't really that they were kind of out on
him before last season, began and they still went forward
with it anyway because she didn't want to look, wrong
and you deal with that a lot in, ownership. RIGHT
i think the biggest Reason Brian callahan is still the

(01:58:37):
head coach of The Tennessee titans is Because Amy Adam
strunk doesn't want to Make Mike vrabel look like more
of a war hero than he already.

Speaker 5 (01:58:44):
Does going back To New.

Speaker 4 (01:58:45):
England by the, way The patriots play At tennessee in week,
Seven Brian callahan better have that date circle because if
he doesn't win that, game his, job whatever security he
has that goes out the window right. Away because what
do owners hate worse than? Using they hate being. Embarrassed
in this ownership group here specifically has been an embarrassment

(01:59:05):
for the last couple of. Years that is kind of
Where i'm looking at right now and trying to figure.
Out but then you talk About Shane. Steichen With Jim irsey's, passing,
UNFORTUNATELY i think both him And Chris ballard are its
open season on either of, them depending on how this
year goes.

Speaker 3 (01:59:21):
WELL i, Mean Chris ballard has had that gig for
how long and hasn't been able to get that thing
turned around the way you wanted.

Speaker 5 (01:59:27):
To it's like nine. Years fitzy and he's never won the.

Speaker 4 (01:59:30):
Division they've never won the, division and he keeps keeping
he stays in that.

Speaker 5 (01:59:34):
Job it's.

Speaker 3 (01:59:34):
Wild but my counter to all of this, is remember
When John lynch And Kyle shanahan were brought in together
In San. Francisco they were brought in at the time
unprecedented six, year fully guaranteed. Deals that's important because in
the first four years six and, ten four and, twelve
then a thirteen and three year and a six and ten,
year there's a lot of times that one or the

(01:59:56):
other would have been, fired But San francisco was patient
because they had to and they were on the same.
Timeline that's part of what we'll keep breaking down on
what next year could look like across THE.

Speaker 2 (02:00:05):
Nfl it's fellas On Fox Sports. Radio you're listening To
Fox Sports.

Speaker 3 (02:00:10):
Radio the hot seat conversation around THE nfl raises an
even bigger exercise and trying to figure out for teams
across the, league what is the actual? Goal, everybody every
fan will tell you the goal every single year.

Speaker 2 (02:00:26):
Is The Super.

Speaker 3 (02:00:27):
Bowl i'm not sure that's actually really accurate to what
most teams set out to. Accomplish and the question is
sort of in that, process what should the goal? Be
He's buck rising Up Jason Fitz's The fellas On Fox Sports.
Radio we're hanging out with. You i'm gonna get. Deep
i'm gonna get deep and philosophical with everybody Because buck
has been talking a little bit this morning about something

(02:00:47):
that has me just sort of thinking about what the
end goal is for most. Teams but before we get
to THAT nfl, conversation and it's a spectacular fifth Of
july edition Of The, fellas it's Time i'm For let's
get to The Tyraq play of The. Day for over forty,
Years tiraq has been helping customers find the right tires for,
how what and where they drive ship fast and free

(02:01:09):
back by fire road and by free road has a
PROTECTION i can't, read but convenient installation options like mobile
tire installation tyraq dot com the way tire buying should.

Speaker 2 (02:01:18):
Be let's get to The Tiraq play the.

Speaker 9 (02:01:19):
Day pitch on the way And karatini cranks it out
to right center and deep back when it Is hernandez at.

Speaker 4 (02:01:26):
The wall looking, up see a lighter cradlier perfect The
kerosini his second on this road trip and the fourth.

Speaker 3 (02:01:34):
Of his Career Astar's Radio. Network on the, Call, buck
you could never call baseball. Games you know why you
could never call baseball games because you at your, core
and it's not because you're not a huge baseball fanatic like.
That aside from, that IF i came To Buck, rising he,
SAID i Want Buck rising to call baseball. Games you
at your core are just so unimpressed by, Everything like

(02:01:55):
you would see a home run and your call would be, Like,
eh it's a home.

Speaker 2 (02:01:59):
Run better home.

Speaker 5 (02:02:01):
Runs they did his.

Speaker 3 (02:02:02):
Job, congratulations he hit a ball and it went out
of the, Park like that would be your baseball, call
your home run.

Speaker 4 (02:02:09):
Call, well many other reasons WHY i would not be
good at. That play by play is such a skill
THAT i. LACK i, mean for as much time as
we spend around sports And, FITZY i don't know if
you've ever tried your hand at. It i'm sure you
have in some form or fashion throughout the course of your.

(02:02:31):
Career you, KNOW i did a little bit of it in,
college trying to figure out whether that was something that
made sense.

Speaker 5 (02:02:38):
For somebody like me or. Not turns out, terrible not
a good idea for. Me so beyond my.

Speaker 4 (02:02:45):
Lack of interest in, baseball my lack of being impressed
with the ability to hit a ball in, baseball which
honestly may be one of the hardest things to do in,
sports like to actually make contact with a. BASEBALL i
know you're seeing dudes go yard more than you ever,
have because that's the way that the sport is played
at this point in. Time the degree of difficulty all

(02:03:07):
time high in actually hitting some of this major league
pitching that's out, there just ripping at ninety plus on
every pitch all the way through your, rotation no matter
where you are with your pitching.

Speaker 5 (02:03:19):
STAFF i would BE i would be bad at.

Speaker 8 (02:03:22):
THAT i JUST i.

Speaker 4 (02:03:22):
Would it's self awareness is. KEY i think in many
things many of us lack self awareness and whatever that
whatever it is that we. Do and WHILE i may
be full of it on a lot of, THINGS i
feel LIKE i can back up most of.

Speaker 5 (02:03:35):
Them play by play as a skill would not be
in my.

Speaker 3 (02:03:38):
Bag by the, way we couldn't do this show every
single week if it wasn't for the greatness Of Mighty.

Speaker 2 (02:03:44):
Mark as alarm went, OFF i did.

Speaker 5 (02:03:47):
IT i saw phone different.

Speaker 3 (02:03:50):
SPOT i intentionally did it at a different spot today
to praise how great our crew, is just because buck
is made me feel so conscious after you have today
with two pros and a cup Of joe is amazing
and great at so many. Things Pre, ALSO i gotta be,
honest you equally would not be good at play by.
Play and you know why you wouldn't be good at
play by play because you're too. Nice you like too many.

(02:04:11):
Things so like when, somebody if somebody struck, Out brie
would be, like, ah it was a, great great pitch
and just a really good all around effort by.

Speaker 2 (02:04:18):
Everybody and you, know Like, bri you're too nice for
play by.

Speaker 6 (02:04:21):
Play but you guys have to UNDERSTAND i am in work.
Mode LIKE i, MEAN i like you guys a, lot
But i'm in work mode right. Now so you guys
are seeing a different side of.

Speaker 7 (02:04:29):
Me does that make?

Speaker 3 (02:04:30):
SENSE i mean, Yeah but like if you saw if
you saw a batter strike out at the bottom of the,
NINTH i don't you, KNOW i think.

Speaker 2 (02:04:39):
You would still be, like, oh you know, what it's
a really it's a really good. Show hey really tried
there and get no contact was.

Speaker 3 (02:04:46):
Made but, guys we're gonna get them tomorrow and it's
gonna be great and maybe fans need That bri, like
maybe we.

Speaker 4 (02:04:51):
All need that level OF i feel like they like
it a lot more than people like us who just
rip their teams when they.

Speaker 5 (02:04:56):
Too bri would actually be better the way better at
that than.

Speaker 6 (02:05:00):
Us it just depends on, what like if you guys
want to it's JUST i guess it just depends on the.
Situation like if it's like The, rams LIKE i hate The, rams,
right SO i, will like Because i'm A saints, fan
SO i will FOREVER i hold grudges in a.

Speaker 5 (02:05:13):
Sea oh, well that that's.

Speaker 4 (02:05:15):
Understandable that's one of the most egregious miscalls in the
history of that.

Speaker 7 (02:05:19):
Sport it'll haunt me for the rest of my.

Speaker 6 (02:05:21):
Life so it's, like so if if somebody bring up
brings up The, rams, Like i'm going to drop like
THREE f bombs And i'm just gonna get like in your,
face you know WHAT i.

Speaker 4 (02:05:28):
Mean SO i just can't your tone breathe, does, LIKE
i can't even like get profanity coming out of your.

Speaker 5 (02:05:34):
Mouth which would it would, shock it would genuinely.

Speaker 7 (02:05:37):
Shock, well you, see you're seeing the work. Side So i'm.
Glad i'm glad seeing fits it's.

Speaker 4 (02:05:41):
COOL i, mean WHILE i almost cussed on on a nationally,
BROADCAST i.

Speaker 7 (02:05:46):
DON'T i caught. IT i MEAN i looked That, MARK
i was, like uh.

Speaker 4 (02:05:49):
Fuck there's been one TIME i do three hours of
radio a day AND i don't have that. Problem and
fits got me worked up enough to make me almost drop.

Speaker 7 (02:05:57):
One honor that we were part of.

Speaker 2 (02:05:59):
IT i gotta be, honest LIKE i off the.

Speaker 3 (02:06:02):
Air my friends have often laughed about the fact THAT
i swear LIKE i, said LIKE i learned it from my.
Mom every other word for me is THE f, word
always hass one this entire. Life and, yeah and learned
that from my mom for. Sure and the funny thing,
IS i remember my FIRST espn. Show the number one
fear that everybody had in my life was that it was,
live and it was, Like, man you're gonna be live ON.

(02:06:24):
Tv you're going to drop AN f, Bomb AND, i
to this day the only time THAT i have ever.
Been there's a button called the dump, button. Y'all so
like if one of us says something we're not allowed to,
say if we say a bad, word they press the dump.
Button you get, dumped, Right and so then a report
goes out to the radio station to.

Speaker 2 (02:06:41):
Let everybody know why you got it's a big, deal.

Speaker 3 (02:06:43):
Right the only time in my entire career that they've
had to press that button for me was In nashville
on the local show WHEN i had just started AND
i was asked what my FAVORITE tv show, was and
at the, time it was not a POPULAR tv, show
and SO i, said the name of THE tv, show
and it's. Sense it's become it's, common it's common knowledge for.

Speaker 2 (02:07:03):
Everybody but it is s C H i T t
it shits. Creek that's the name of the. Show AND
i said, that, like that's the name of the.

Speaker 3 (02:07:10):
Show and our, Producer Julian, counsel Who buck knows, well
had never heard of, this and like he pressed the
dumb button and he threw his hands up in the,
air AND i kept saying the name of the show over.

Speaker 2 (02:07:22):
And over again Because i'm, like AM i not allowed
to say?

Speaker 3 (02:07:23):
This and he kept having to hit the. Dumble it's
the only time it's ever happened to. Me and it
was innocuous enough because it was about A tv. Show
it wasn't a bad.

Speaker 4 (02:07:30):
Word, well And god forbid anybody Might julian work harder
on a regular, basis say just he.

Speaker 5 (02:07:35):
Doesn't he.

Speaker 4 (02:07:35):
Doesn't he's going to be delighted that he just even
to be. Mentioned i'm sure we'll get a message from
him at some point in.

Speaker 3 (02:07:43):
TIME i just liked, it LIKE i remember the end
of The Raiders cardinals game a few years ago in my.
House AND i remember this game because The raiders were
up big and it was a fourth late fourth quarter,
meltdown AND i remember distinctly the game, ended and you
know how if you're watching On sunday, ticket it just
goes to That sunday, ticket thank you for watching. Screen

(02:08:04):
AND i realized an hour after the game had ended
THAT i was sitting on my, couch the entire house was,
DARK i was in, silent and that screen was still.
Long it took me that long to decompress it after that.
Loss AND i could Hear bri on the call of
that in my head at the, end being Like raiders,
fans you almost had. Them brie is so, supportive she'd
be like a most, time, guys you Almost, Adam AND

(02:08:26):
i can't decide IF i would need that or not need.

Speaker 6 (02:08:28):
That how many times have you been, dumped both of?
You but how many times have you been dumped on the,
Air And i'll tell you how many Times i've been.

Speaker 5 (02:08:34):
DUMPED i, thought oh, girl, YEAH i THOUGHT i thought
we were talking about.

Speaker 4 (02:08:38):
RELATIONSHIPS i have been the first and next, hour the
first TIME i was in front of a live, MICROPHONE
i had to be.

Speaker 2 (02:08:48):
Dumb, yeah oh well that's.

Speaker 7 (02:08:50):
Understandable so only one.

Speaker 4 (02:08:51):
Time it's the only time that it's ever, happened unless
you got me earlier WHEN i almost said.

Speaker 2 (02:08:55):
It, no, yeah me.

Speaker 7 (02:08:57):
TOO i was only one. Time And i've been dumped
BECAUSE i cussed on the. Air so see.

Speaker 5 (02:09:01):
Shocking why did you? Cuss?

Speaker 7 (02:09:05):
There we were playing a game like a like a you,
know a.

Speaker 6 (02:09:08):
Game it was like a more A sunday, morning AND i,
said you, KNOW i, SAID i actually said THE s,
word AND i just said it kind.

Speaker 7 (02:09:17):
OF i THINK i was mad THAT i had. LOST
i messed up the. Question so it was just in
a in a.

Speaker 5 (02:09:23):
Blind rage that you that you spewed profanity in the.

Speaker 4 (02:09:26):
Microphone all, right, yeah let's let's go around the. Room
what's the most emotional sports loss that you've? Witnessed, uh
that has that has devastated you the way THAT fitsi
just described because there is something to just the deep
dark depression of sitting in silence in a dark room
all alone with a lock screen or a screensaver type
situation that's just popped up because you've been ruminating on

(02:09:47):
how badly it. WENT i will start if you want
me To. Indiana in twenty, Twelve Indiana hoosiers the number
one team in the country at the.

Speaker 5 (02:09:57):
Time they got a number one overall seat In mark Man.

Speaker 4 (02:10:00):
Is Tom, Crane Victor, Oladipo Cody, Zeller Yogi, ferrell and
they Meet Jim beheim in the sweet sixteen and they could,
not for the life of, them figure out the, zone
could not figure out the zone That syracuse was, playing
completely petered. Out it's the only team THAT i actually
care about in my sports, life, like like really viscerally

(02:10:21):
truly care.

Speaker 5 (02:10:21):
About the thing that keeps me up at night.

Speaker 4 (02:10:24):
Is how Bad indiana basketball has been basically my entire,
lifetime save that, season because they were excellent that. Season
that was coming off the year where they Upset Anthony
davis as the number one team in the country And
kentucky coming Into Assembly. Hall That's DICKY. V it's, unbelievable,
Baby like the whole thing all, right riding that high
and for it to come crashing down in the sweet.

(02:10:46):
Sixty that's as drunk As i've ever been in my.
LIFE i was out of my.

Speaker 5 (02:10:50):
Mind.

Speaker 2 (02:10:51):
MAN i feel that all the way to my. CORE
i love every ounce of.

Speaker 3 (02:10:57):
That and you, know my, pain my, suffering my, angst
hearing your, recombat it's just it's it's.

Speaker 5 (02:11:05):
ELECTRIC i can still See beayheim's dumb face on my.
Screen Just, oh it makes me so.

Speaker 2 (02:11:09):
MAD i HAVE i have told this story, before But
i'll never.

Speaker 3 (02:11:12):
FORGET i was dating your, girl AND i was at her,
house and her parents were particularly conservative and didn't allow
swearing in the, house and we're not big sports. Fans
AND i sat in her basement and watched The tuck rule.
Happen and AS i sat there in silence BECAUSE i
KNEW i couldn't, swear sat there in silence and watched it,
happen her mom just looks over at me flippantly and,

(02:11:33):
SAYS i don't know what you're so worked up.

Speaker 2 (02:11:34):
About it's just a. Game AND i was, like, YEAH
i can't date this girl like. That that's the end
OF i would have the right of the.

Speaker 5 (02:11:40):
MOM i would HAVE i would have yelled at the.

Speaker 3 (02:11:42):
Mom her parents did have a lot of, money, though
SO i was, like, really, like, MAN i should stick
with this one because LIKE i could have a retirement
plan out of.

Speaker 2 (02:11:50):
It but you, know, no it didn't didn't work. Out,
bree your, turn go, ahead.

Speaker 6 (02:11:54):
Give us the give us The minneapolis miracle or the
the past interference.

Speaker 5 (02:12:01):
Call they're both.

Speaker 6 (02:12:02):
DEVASTATING i The minneapolis, MIRACLE i will, SAY i literally
turned off THE tv AND i went like, STRAIGHT i.
COULDN'T i couldn't be awake. Anymore AND i didn't. WAIT
i actually called in sick the next.

Speaker 2 (02:12:13):
DAY i.

Speaker 7 (02:12:14):
COULDN'T i couldn't go to. WORK i couldn't do.

Speaker 5 (02:12:16):
Anything called out of your. Job that's.

Speaker 2 (02:12:18):
Nuts, YEAH i was so. DEPRESSED i respect.

Speaker 7 (02:12:21):
IT i was so, Depressed like it was just that
was just nauseatingly.

Speaker 6 (02:12:26):
Depressing with them past, INTERFERENCE i was just more angry
AND i just like wanted to like run somebody. Over
but The minneapolis, miracle.

Speaker 5 (02:12:33):
Like was just like.

Speaker 7 (02:12:33):
Depression So i'll go with that, one all.

Speaker 4 (02:12:36):
Right brae has this deep seated rage that we have just.
Uncovered it seems to work if you can ever team
loses in a bad, spot she may run you down
in the.

Speaker 5 (02:12:45):
Street, Yeah i'm.

Speaker 7 (02:12:47):
Not i'm not proud of.

Speaker 3 (02:12:48):
IT i feel like we just learned That breed has
like a side, hustle like boxing or something like she
she's hitting things just to get to work through the.

Speaker 2 (02:12:56):
Emotions like it feels like there's.

Speaker 7 (02:12:57):
That's probably the healthier THING i should be.

Speaker 5 (02:12:59):
Doing, Mark you've got to meltdown moment Or, NO i
do wear.

Speaker 8 (02:13:02):
A suit of armor working next To. Bree but the
two things THAT i have are When seattle tried to
throw a pass on the one yard line against that,
MOMENT i didn't, courage but that moment OF i think
every football fan, thought that is the dumbest call in the.

(02:13:26):
World you have four chances to have this dude the running.
Back but that's that's. That and the second one is
The falcons losing to The. Patriots that game.

Speaker 9 (02:13:41):
Was in the.

Speaker 8 (02:13:41):
Bag there was a scene Where brady was on his
knees after a interception and that and the runner is
running away with the, interception and that was going to
be the headline at that game ended that, way but
that all that got disappeared when the when they when eight.

Speaker 5 (02:14:00):
Twenty eight to.

Speaker 3 (02:14:01):
Three, YEAH i always paint that like they Let falcons
fans down in that, game and they, did but they
let all Of america down because nobody was rooting For
brady and The patriots in that.

Speaker 2 (02:14:10):
GAME i, WAS i, was you want to stream this

Air Buck rising just housed an entire thing of oatmeal
with a.

Speaker 3 (02:16:40):
STERSTICK i, Mean i've seen some weird, things BUT i
mean just picture this a coffee cup that is full
of oatmeal in the coffee cup and no spoons, available
so Instead buck goes to a ster stick and he
uses the, starstick like watching someone take rice out of
a bowl with one individual chopstick and finds a.

Speaker 2 (02:17:00):
Way to shovel said probiotic. Oatmeal i'm. Impressed.

Speaker 3 (02:17:05):
ALL i, mean you're too boogy to have a lot
of experience with, ramen SO i don't know where you
got this figured, out but you, know, hey good for.

Speaker 5 (02:17:12):
You portion, control and that was the Otherwise i'll eat
it too.

Speaker 4 (02:17:16):
Fast that's the, thing, Right people have, to you, know
just minimize their portion sizes and then you'll become more
full of as a. Result, no if anybody has worked
in a space where you have a break, room where
there are coffee, cups and there should be utensils and
things like. THAT i came into the studio today AND

(02:17:37):
i brought some oatmeal because four am to eight am my,
Time i'd like a little. Snack four hours of, radio
like just a little, Snack and SO i figured probiotic
oatmeal is the most efficient thing THAT i could bring
in and not have a lot of. Hassle EXCEPT i
underestimated again local sports talk radio station not having sufficient
enough spoons for me to get the, oatmeal nor even a.

Speaker 5 (02:17:58):
BOWL i couldn't find a paper bowl.

Speaker 4 (02:18:00):
Anywhere so we got a coffee cup and we got
a coffee, stir and we're making it, work, BABY i,
touch much to the the the chagrin Of Jason fitz
who has to sit there and watch me eat this
probiotical meal out of a coffee cup with a coffee.

Speaker 3 (02:18:14):
STIR i just love the fact that as a society in,
general we're, like, oh, MAN i got like you take
a two hour road, Trick you're, like gotta stop and
get snackt because, god for a, BED i don't eat
for two. Hours and, then if you, know healthy people
will sit there and say the key is eating five
small meals a, day and most people will be, like,
WELL i.

Speaker 2 (02:18:33):
CAN'T i can't eat five times a.

Speaker 3 (02:18:34):
Day but then if you turn around to the same,
person you're, like, hey you know you're not gonna get to.

Speaker 5 (02:18:39):
Get that beef truck. FACE i, mean.

Speaker 2 (02:18:43):
There's this element we're, like, MAN i don't, know like
it's been four. Hours i'm sitting.

Speaker 3 (02:18:47):
HERE i love it when in, general many of my
friends and people THAT i love dearly have come in
after a day of not getting a lot of food
and they're, like, oh, MAN i don't know How i'm
supposed to function.

Speaker 2 (02:18:58):
TODAY i haven't eaten since.

Speaker 3 (02:19:00):
Breakfast and it's like four o'clock in the, afternoon And
i'm sitting there thinking there are parts of the world
did you know eat every three days and somehow they
managed to. Function but we're, like oh my, GOD i
haven't eaten since. Breakfast i'm just count me. Out i'm
not going to be able to do anything productive the
rest of the.

Speaker 4 (02:19:15):
DAY i don't Get please please notice, That Brian, mark
how he went from being above the people who would
shame the hot dog eating contestants for their gratuitous food
consumption while many other places in the world do not
have those available, resources to also fat shaming people who

(02:19:36):
eat at breakfast and, then you, know may get a
little peckish around lunch or around four o'clock in the.
Afternoon you were the one that said, that you. Don't oh,
yeah they're starving kids In. Africa just remember that next
time you get a little, Hungry.

Speaker 3 (02:19:48):
Bud i'm just, saying most of the people that are
out there complaining about the hot dog eating concast had
no problem having four or five of their own hot
dogs on fourth Lie, like you're sitting there saying what
a waste of, food and then you're shoveling your own five.

Speaker 4 (02:20:03):
On don't is that audio me landing body blows AGAINST
fitzi is that is that the verbal body?

Speaker 5 (02:20:09):
Blows is that what that? Is?

Speaker 2 (02:20:11):
Yes thank You. Martin. WOW i FEEL i feel. BETRAYED
i HAVE i have.

Speaker 5 (02:20:18):
The audio guy on my. Side you stand no Chance
i'm Just i'm just, saying like the.

Speaker 3 (02:20:22):
Amount of people THAT i haven't eaten in five, hours
my blood sugar is too, bad And i'm, cranky and
it's like.

Speaker 2 (02:20:27):
Really, REALLY i mean that that's where we, Are like
you haven't had a, snack and like what do we become?
Children as? Adult it's about all of the use of
mech and each other right, now that's what That's.

Speaker 4 (02:20:39):
Listen to, me all, Right i'm doing this for your, sake,
okay because IF i get if if we if we
make it through this next half, hour after doing three
and a half hours of radio, together after doing six
hours of radio throughout the course of the, weekend AND
i don't have some kind of, meltdown.

Speaker 5 (02:20:55):
That's a win for, You, bud not just for.

Speaker 3 (02:20:56):
ME i just, like in general as a, society the
number one answer you could turn around to somebody and be,
like oh my, god HOW i don't care whether you're
talking about politics or law or you're just talking about your.
Friends somebody sit there and, say how could you be
late today at? Work the immediate answer, is, well you know,
What tina's late every. Day Oh like when we were,

(02:21:17):
kids if your mom came to you and said why
did you do? That and you're, like, well Because johnny
next door did. It the first thing your mom said is,
LIKE i don't give a damn What johnny. Did like
If johnny jumped off the, bridge would you jump off
a bridge?

Speaker 2 (02:21:29):
Too all of those. Things that's exactly who we are
as adults.

Speaker 3 (02:21:33):
Now it's like the amount of coddling that we all
require and then immediately the minute something doesn't go the
way we, want instead of turning around and owning, It
like we live in this society where just in, general
if you look at somebody and they're, like, hey can
you put the dishes, away their answers like can you
put your shoes?

Speaker 2 (02:21:49):
Away, okay those are two separate.

Speaker 3 (02:21:50):
Conversations like let's talk about the fact that you need
to figure out where the dishwasher, is and then we
can talk about the fact, that LIKE i need to
put my shoes away as a total separate. Thing but
like we all hold things as ammunition to try and
turn around like children fighting about what somebody else gets to.

Speaker 5 (02:22:04):
Do that's, right.

Speaker 2 (02:22:08):
That's.

Speaker 4 (02:22:09):
Right it's not, coddling it's. Catering cater to, me, Okay
Like i'm gonna be self aware about. This i'm aware
THAT i am a you, KNOW i contain multitudes. FITSY
i can be a crossche aty seventy five year old
when people are shooting fireworks off in my. NEIGHBORHOOD i
can be a thirty one year old living In, Nashville
tennessee and everything that comes with, That and THEN i
can behave like a child and be self aware about

(02:22:31):
all of those different components of my.

Speaker 5 (02:22:33):
Personality and expect you to cater to each of.

Speaker 3 (02:22:35):
Them so you, know you, know the correct you think
about that like is there was an era in our
world in general where you could walk up to your
neighbor and be, like, hey, man my dog's really scared of,
fireworks AND i know you're having a great. Time i'm
just wondering if maybe you could wrap it up, soon
because it'd be great for me AND i just really
apprecied the, thought and the neighbor you're talking to would, say,

(02:22:57):
MAN i didn't know.

Speaker 2 (02:22:58):
That i'm really.

Speaker 3 (02:22:58):
Sorry, yeah no, Problem we'll wrap it like that's the
human way to do. It, instead what happens, is you,
know the buck rising of some particular neighborhood kicks, out
the door goes stormer down the street and, screams.

Speaker 2 (02:23:10):
My cats don't like it when you put These you
stop those damn.

Speaker 3 (02:23:13):
Fireworks and then immediately the firework guy, SAYS i don't
care about your. Cats look the next block, over they're
getting to do.

Speaker 2 (02:23:19):
IT i should get to do it.

Speaker 3 (02:23:20):
Too like that's how we are as a society, Now
like there's very like we we treat each other about
as well as we merge on the. Highway everybody waits
so the last second and, says get the hell out
of my. Way i'm coming over right, here causing a
backup For, miles and nobody takes any accountability for.

Speaker 5 (02:23:36):
It that was a very apt comparison by.

Speaker 4 (02:23:39):
YOU i think that may have been your best comparison
and our best metaphor that you've ever executed in your
sports talker sports media.

Speaker 5 (02:23:47):
Career well, done thank. You i'll remember that the next
TIME i cut somebody.

Speaker 3 (02:23:51):
Off, yeah that's why we need robot, cars and only robot.
Cars none of you people can, Drive not a single
one of you people can, drive that's. TRUE i just
want robot. CARS i also want to figure out. Regression
as we've been talking about some of THE nfl teams
that might take a step, back but there are some
teams that might take a step, forward right like maybe.

Speaker 2 (02:24:08):
Progression maybe we could be probably positive for a, minute.

Speaker 3 (02:24:11):
You, know Because, BUCK i do think as much AS
i said, earlier there might be a bunch of bad.

Speaker 2 (02:24:15):
TEAMS i think you could make a pretty easy argument
that some.

Speaker 3 (02:24:19):
Of those bad, teams like if you want to take the,
positive the glass half full side of, it as we said,
earlier for The, patriots a glass half full side is
that you Got vrabel And Drake may Under josh. McDaniels
so look at how much Success josh McDaniels had, frankly you,
know in the past with different quarterbacks In New england,
Particularly so maybe that's the right. Thing if You're, pittsburgh
even a team That i've been very tough, on as you,

(02:24:41):
know you Got Aaron rodgers and maybe get one year
of magic With Aaron rodgers AND Dk metcalf and you've
got a defense that comes together AND. Tj watt's gonna
go out and be. Fine it's gonna Be if you're
A Cincinnati bengals, fan like you know, what you weren't last.
Year you weren't healthy for the first month of the.
Season but now you are so LIKE i think that there,
is you, know some moment of hope for a lot

(02:25:02):
of teams this. Year if You're, dallas you went seven
to ten last year and a year where everything that
could go wrong did go.

Speaker 2 (02:25:08):
Wrong now you know you're gonna, believe.

Speaker 3 (02:25:11):
ALTHOUGH i think there's no proof of concept of, it
you're gonna believe that shot he comes in and shot
he's gonna be able to do this this offense the right.
Way With daktac's gonna be, healthy they get another second
great weapon on. Offense so if you're A cowboys, fan
LIKE i think a lot of teams right now can
find the, yeah but we're gonna be better and that's

(02:25:31):
the moment of, encouragement a positive lift up for THE.

Speaker 4 (02:25:34):
Nfl, well that's. LOVELY i think there's a couple of
different teams that you could look, at And i'm just
looking AT dvoa rankings now and not to get you,
know not to bog people down with. Numbers ALTHOUGH i
THINK dvoa is a commonplace term or tool in football,
analysis just LIKE epa. Is as we continue to advance
in the way that we understand these. Things it's just

(02:25:56):
a great way to look at teams and where they
stack up as their efficiency. Goes so the least efficient
team last year in THE nfl was who fits you, know, uh.

Speaker 2 (02:26:06):
The Tennessee titans is gonna be my.

Speaker 4 (02:26:07):
Guest it was The Cleveland, browns but just by a
hair they were the worst team in terms OF. Dvoa
tennessee was, Second carolina, Third New england, Fourth giants, fifth
and then your Beloved Las Vegas raiders come puttering along at.
Six so not the, worst but far from the. Best
there's a couple of different, teams And tennessee is a
good sample size, here and not just Because i'm here

(02:26:28):
locally In nashville AND i cover them on a daily.
Basis two teams led the league in total turnovers committed last.

Speaker 5 (02:26:37):
Year they Were tennessee And.

Speaker 4 (02:26:38):
Cleveland Will levis is responsible for eighteen individual turnovers of
the thirty four turnovers that The titans committed last.

Speaker 5 (02:26:46):
Year Will levis, is it's.

Speaker 4 (02:26:49):
Really AND I i feel some degree of we'll call it,
empathy not sympathy for Will levis because at the end
of the, day is performance is why he is no
longer going to be a starting. Quarterback he's certainly not
here and likely elsewhere at least for the foreseeable. Future

(02:27:09):
he'll have to kind of rehab his image and his
performance at this, point and that's What tennessee is hoping
he does in the preseason so they can try to
trade him to another team and move on and move
in the direction of Cam ward as they already. Are
but eighteen individual turnovers nuked that football team last. Year
they would have been a bad football team. Anyway they
they may have been a five, win six win football.

(02:27:31):
Team but there are games directly THAT i, covered individual
moments that you can pinpoint Where Will levis did a
thing and it lost them to. GAME i, mean look
no further Than week one in twenty twenty four At
chicago on the, road with a seventeen to nothing, Lead
Will levis throws the most inexplicable interception you've ever seen

(02:27:53):
in your life To Tyreek, stevenson who returns it to
the house he Surrendered kober's if you.

Speaker 2 (02:27:58):
Don't know what that.

Speaker 4 (02:27:59):
Is he drops to his, knees he throws his head
or hands behind his head in shock and awe that
he just did, that And Tyreek stevenson takes it to
The house for the win in a game WHERE i
Think Caleb williams had like seventy two passing. Yards he
was definitely under one. HUNDRED i can't remember exactly what he.
Had AND i was pretty confident in that situation that
that would be the worst football play of Will levis's

(02:28:21):
career Fits and that was the way THAT i kind.

Speaker 5 (02:28:23):
Of you, know managed. It all, Right it's never as
bad as you think it.

Speaker 4 (02:28:25):
Is it's never as good as you think it is
anytime you're doing the analysis and everything's all, Right let's
keep an open mind, here and let's, say all, right
he made a really bad mistake in a very winnable
game against a totally beat a little. Opponent but you
got The jets in week two at. Home let's see
you get, RIGHT. Fitzi he made the exact same, play
the exact same. Play it just was a fumble this
time instead of an. Interception he tried to flip it

(02:28:48):
backwards to the running Back Taj, Spears and it was
the exact same. Play and that was the moment When
Brian callahan went viral for, saying what the f are you?
Doing like on, camera ripping his head set off screaming
at his quarterback in way that you don't SEE nfl
coaches show up players like, that and in, fact a
lot OF nfl, players Including Ryan, fitzpatrick had a level
of dialogue about. IT i don't know about This callahan,

(02:29:09):
character if he's going to, outright if he's going to
tear down a player that publicly in that. Moment but
just to keep it with the progression, candidate they could
get better just not being a. Disaster as far as the,
Turnovers tennessee And cleveland are the most likely ones to,
me just because of the way that they led the
league in, turnovers not that they have to get like

(02:29:30):
not that they're going to have a winning record to
go worse to first or anything like. That Because cleveland
is still a mess And tennessee still has a roster
that's suspect to be diplomatic about. It eighteen individual turnovers
from your quarterback cannot. Happen cannot. Happen and Cam ward
will put the ball in harm's, way and he will throw,
interceptions and he'll, fumble and he'll have moments where he makes,
mistakes but not to that.

Speaker 5 (02:29:51):
Degree i've never seen anything like.

Speaker 1 (02:29:53):
That.

Speaker 3 (02:29:53):
Yeap the INTERESTING i remember that implosion so. Much and
two different people leading up to the draft THAT i
talked to that Covered Will levis extensively in his college.
CAREER i asked both of them, because like part of
my draft prep is how many people on my phone
DO i know that have either worked around a, team
or covered a, team or been in a.

Speaker 2 (02:30:11):
Locker room with. Somebody that's WHAT i want to get
a sense.

Speaker 3 (02:30:13):
Of two different people told me without knowing that what
the other person had said That Will levis. Is it
was described by one of them as A i love
you man, guy and what he meant by that was
When will makes, mistakes they get stuck in his head
and he has a hard time letting him, go and
you can find it late in, again he's still thinking
about a bad.

Speaker 2 (02:30:32):
Throw or a misthrow from the first, quarter and he's the.

Speaker 3 (02:30:34):
Type of quarterback that truly needs affirmation like he NEEDS
I love you man's from his coach to help him
sort of work through his own brain when he makes.
Mistakes WHEN i Saw callahan lose it like, THAT i
thought about that analysis of will Of will from two
different people and, thought this is broken and it will
never be fixed because AS i said, earlier you got
to be around somebody that's a fan of what you.

(02:30:55):
Do you got to be around somebody that understands how
to get the most out of. You and that clearly
that's a divide in the relationship With callahan And levis
that breaks a team in my.

Speaker 4 (02:31:04):
Mind Fitzi levis got up to the podium after That
jets game and, SAID i need.

Speaker 5 (02:31:08):
To learn how to rewire my.

Speaker 4 (02:31:09):
Brain i've never heard a quote like that from a professional,
athlete never in my. Life maybe it's happened, before but
god knows not in AN nfl. ORGANIZATION i just and
it made me think, about you, know the impact of
a coach in that way that you're, describing where whether
out of fear or out of respect or, Otherwise Will
levis never would have done that Under Mike, frabel never

(02:31:31):
in a million, years Because Mike frabel would have lost
his ever loving. Mind not publicly like, that but you,
know in a meeting room that we you AND i
don't get to. See that would have been an unbelievable
come to Football jesus. Moment callahan did it, publicly, though
and so then the perception spread like, wildfire and the
quarterback has to get up there and in a very,

(02:31:52):
transparent parent, moment to his, credit just be say something like.
That that almost that leaves your jaw a bit on
the a bit on the because you're, like, well what
do you do about?

Speaker 5 (02:32:02):
That and it just kind of strugs your shoulders so
THAT i don't, know.

Speaker 4 (02:32:05):
And we move on and it continues to happen the
rest of the, season not to that, extent but you,
know the kind of.

Speaker 5 (02:32:09):
MISTAKES i.

Speaker 2 (02:32:10):
MEAN i Think.

Speaker 3 (02:32:12):
Cleveland is interesting because their front office and head coach
are working with such autonomy in a sense where it
is clear that they do not feel that they are
under any, pressure and rightfully, so because they've had no
like it's not their.

Speaker 2 (02:32:23):
Fault That Shaun watson thing is not their. Fault they
were saddled with what they were saddled.

Speaker 3 (02:32:28):
With and now what you have, is you, know, quarterback
And Dylan gabriel And Shadoor sanders And Kenny, pickley.

Speaker 2 (02:32:33):
Like they just don't have a.

Speaker 3 (02:32:34):
Quarterback AND i know everybody wants to make The chador
thing a big, thing but LIKE i JUST i feel
like even The browns organizationally looking around and you take
a flyer on a third round or fifth round, quarterback
hoping that it helps you not need one next, year
but also acknowledging that you'll probably need one next.

Speaker 2 (02:32:50):
Year So cleveland, like WHILE i think the roster has
talent on, IT i just.

Speaker 3 (02:32:54):
Don't and their schedule is absolutely brutal for the first
six seven.

Speaker 2 (02:32:59):
WEEKS i don't know how The browns survived.

Speaker 5 (02:33:01):
That where are you on The?

Speaker 3 (02:33:02):
RAIDERS i think The, raiders if things break, right the
offense is going to be much. Better if the offensive
line is. CAPABLE i think it's going to be okay this.
Year the offensive line is. Capable simply their offense is
going to make them a six or seven win. TEAM
i think their, defense other than their defensive, line.

Speaker 2 (02:33:21):
Has so many. Holes it's just it's impossible to, know you.

Speaker 3 (02:33:24):
Know SO i think The raiders are going to be
a maddening seven win team that loses some games that
are frustrating and win some games that are, frustrating.

Speaker 2 (02:33:31):
But the offense is going to be much much.

Speaker 3 (02:33:33):
BETTER i continually will remind everybody that for all the
conversation About Pete carroll's, OLD i just want to remind everybody,
that no matter your political, affiliation the last two people
that we've elected to run the free world or older
Than Pete. Carroll so if you were comfortable voting for
at any point in your Life Donald trump Or Joe,
biden either, one then you voted for somebody to run

(02:33:55):
the actual free world that's older Than Pete. Carroll if
you can run the free, world you can run a football,
team that's.

Speaker 4 (02:34:01):
ALL i.

Speaker 5 (02:34:02):
Think that's.

Speaker 4 (02:34:02):
REASONABLE i saw somebody tweet a picture Of Bill walton
rest in peace the other day and, say this is
the only, big Beautiful bill THAT i care about AND i.

Speaker 2 (02:34:09):
Could identify with. That, oh that's.

Speaker 5 (02:37:01):
Fuck, oh never make.

Speaker 4 (02:37:02):

final game just to To oh my, GOD i, MEAN
i feel For buffalo. FANS i can't even imagine the
fact that they're making documentaries out of your, ineptitude not
even an, aptitude that you are that successful and you
just can't break through the final.

Speaker 5 (02:37:18):
Hurdle, no that sounds like an unrelenting.

Speaker 3 (02:37:20):

Speaker 4 (02:37:56):

a great example of, this to his, credit to his undying.
Credit so, YEAH i looks aren't. Everything money isn't, everything

THEN i can fix the other things.

Speaker 3 (02:38:11):
Afterwards by the, Way ronaldo catching strace. Here but then
the side of, it like the other side of it is.

Speaker 5 (02:38:17):
You've Seen ronaldo free. Money come. ON i.

Speaker 3 (02:38:19):
Mean, so the one Thing i'd say about the looks
for a lot of people are about, status, Right LIKE
i could walk into the room and everyone Thinks i'm
beautiful and everyone's gonna treat me, different Or i'm gonna
be able to take WHOEVER i. Want guess, what if
you've got Elon musk, money you can do all those things.
Too if you're living on a, yacht really doesn't matter
how ugly you, Are like people will even if they

(02:38:40):
don't respect. You they'll pretend they do if you're rich.
Enough so, Yeah i'll take the. Money i'll buy your. Respect,
Yeah i'll have so much. MONEY i don't care If
i'll just if you respect me or, not Because i'll
my people will have to talk to my.

Speaker 2 (02:38:52):
People that will talk to my people to get to your.

Speaker 6 (02:38:53):
People it just looks Like ronaldo got a nose job
and a buckle removal from his.

Speaker 7 (02:38:59):
Cheek that's the only THING i can, Tell, like.

Speaker 5 (02:39:01):
Look at those. Teeth those teeth are, okay.

Speaker 7 (02:39:03):
But then everybody gets their teeth. Done that's not like
a big.

Speaker 5 (02:39:06):
Deal if you got bad, teeth it's a big. DEAL
i can't.

Speaker 3 (02:39:10):
Figure out why we can make you, know we can
MAKE ai robots at this, point but we can't make
artificial teeth that don't seem like veneers from a mile.

Speaker 2 (02:39:17):
Away they are too big for everybody's. FACE i don't Leave.

Speaker 5 (02:39:19):

Of Buck rising on the body of a show pony
trotting its way through the like The Kentucky Derby, grounds
wearing some sort of a big fascinator just BECAUSE i
