Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listen Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
No, let's go, steaking genius.
Speaker 3 (00:06):
Let's go, baby, big boy, let's go, let's go.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
You ready to do this? Two nights in a round,
same time.
Speaker 3 (00:11):
How are you feeling? Are you okay?
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Good? Ready to row? It's been a long day, but
I love it.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
I was a little worried about you.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Why is that?
Speaker 3 (00:19):
I mean, my goodness, yesterday you were so crabby.
Speaker 4 (00:22):
Listen, I I I had a couple of fillings, some
early morning fillings right on Thursday and Friday, right, and
then I have my son.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
Came in town.
Speaker 4 (00:35):
So my twenty one year old son, who is going
into a senior year at West Point, he came into
town kind of surprised us.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
So we spent all day with him right right, right.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
And so Thursday night ended up being and did I
mention my son's twenty one. So he likes to have,
you know, a cold soda pop every now and then
there you go, maybe more than one, maybe.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
More than two.
Speaker 4 (00:55):
So I had to get up very super early to
work on Friday morning.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
Right.
Speaker 4 (00:59):
I have and a Brandon Merrow who is our producer
to night Mary mac I believe Mary still in runt
of the show as well. I've done the Saturday night
show in a while. But that's what's up Mary, that's
the crew, and I mean, obviously Mark helps us out,
but we have a Friday night show we have taken over.
Bernie decided he wanted to do one night a week.
He's coming up next, and so I slid into the
(01:20):
Friday night slot from one to four am Central Time
two to five Eastern.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
I mean, it's you don't do overnights.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
You you said, no, I can't do it.
Speaker 4 (01:27):
I need a little nap before the show, just just
a small little nap. And we were doing all the
fireworks stuff because it's the fourth of July, and I
think you and I have worked together long enough that
you know that I love the fourth of July.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Number one, number one on my depth chart.
Speaker 4 (01:42):
So you added my son coming in town on Thursday night,
an early day on Friday. I have two other girls
that will not leave me alone, my daughter's so I
didn't really get much. But I always need like an
hour long nap before the show, unless there was an
NBA game or unless there was, you know, something that
needed our tension. From about eleven to midnight eleven and yeah,
(02:04):
just a quick little hour nap.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Yeah, just a little nap. Bro. I told you I
was trying to nap and you just kept texting.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
Day In my defense, you didn't say you wanted me
to stop texting. You just said you were trying. You
just said you were trying to nap.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
As all your dead listen, let me just just go
ahead because you weren't wrong last night, and I was.
I was given ian credit for this, but I guess
we actually tip our cap.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
To Aaron Torres.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
Yeah, last night, what you guys were able to get
out of the agent of Air of alex Ojo, the
Texas Tech offensive lineman who signed what I think, great
question from you was the first multi year deal a
three year deal that we've seen and the first of its.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
Kind of out of high school.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
I thought it was one of the more incredible segments
I had ever heard. So I'm sorry because you were right.
It was a great segment.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
I just really needed that one hour on You just
really needed that one hour then I would be good
to go.
Speaker 4 (03:08):
But just real quick, since you brought it up. Yeah, yeah,
you guys need to go to Fox Sports Radio dot com.
We're gonna reset some of this later. In the evening.
I don't I don't want to do it around the
same time as it was last night for those of
you that listened at the same time every single night, right,
But I thought that was fascinating stuff.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Man Derek Shelby, right.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
Right, he was very open, he was very honest. I
always was curious about the whole process. I mean, unless
you're like you or Brady quinne Well, I was wondering,
for the WYOWI sixty five or seventy teams, why not
like one hundred teams going after unless people just don't
think they have a chance. And I'm wondering how many
offers they take. I was surprised when they only said,
like of five to seven. I thought there would take
(03:47):
a lot more than that, and surprised that Texas Tech
wasn't the original of five to seven. And that was
just the whole process because I really didn't know the
inner workings of what's going on and how this works out.
And this is going to be the start of guaranteed
contracts for college kids. You do know that, right, that's
what's gonna happen.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
Well, I'm I mean, yeah, well, what do you think
was gonna happen in the Rev Sharing era.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
Well, I mean, like I really didn't know if they were.
But schools turns him down, they said, no, we can't
do that.
Speaker 4 (04:17):
Well, of course they're going to yeah and now, but Arnie,
no fans okay, And and Texas Tech fans, I love you.
I've spent a lot of time in loving you. Guys
are doing things that you have to do to compete.
You got to overpay, you got to give these guaranteed
deals and places like Tech and Arizona Boise. If you're
(04:37):
gonna want to compete with the big boys in recruiting
in this rev Share era, you gotta go a little
bit of a different angle. And here here's what I
still don't know for this conversation. And like I said,
we got things to get into with the Lebron Summer League.
Obviously a sad story in baseball today. And I couldnot
disagree more with what Aaron Torres said last night about
baseball and the fourth But listen you this world of
(05:01):
Revshare that everyone is in. Right, this is a three year,
five point one million dollar deal, right, he is all
of that coming out of the rev Share or are
they promising him?
Speaker 2 (05:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (05:10):
You get a million dollars a year from the REV share,
but then we'll make up that money in NIL deals.
Because Arnie, five million dollars out of your REV share
is a big chunk whenever you're only giving seventeen million
dollars total to football over three over the season.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Right, I want to say, I think it's only like
seven hundred thousand guaranteed for the first year or something
like that, or or something to that effect. I'd have
to pull it in, Okay, I think I think I
can find that for you.
Speaker 4 (05:39):
So in other words, there is a lot of this
in this five point one five million dollar quote unquote
contract that is, oh yeah, this is what's gonna come
from the REV share, And here's what we're gonna make
up in authentic nil. Because if you're given and I,
and if you're giving five point one mili out of
your REV share to a guy that's never played a
(05:59):
snap before, it's guaranteed, right, and I'm not sure how
all this works, that's a pretty good chunk that you're
punting right away.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
Matter of fact, that overall number. I got this from
Chip Brown. That's where I saw that says Tech is
paying Ojoe two point three two five million guaranteed for
the next three years, an average of seven to seventy
five per season, with a couple agreement that Tech will
negotiate up the five million total if nil money goes
back to the wild West setup, that, according to Matt
(06:28):
zense of something.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
Well, so then they're still kind of skirting system a
little bit.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
I guess, I guess.
Speaker 4 (06:34):
So listen, let's let's carve out some time next out. Yeah,
because you did the interview. I know for some this
is this is where you make fun of me. This
is my nerd talk. I mean, obviously we're one minute
into the program and I've already given you kudos for
this because it was so damn good.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
But then you also got to pull back and remember.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
Derek Shelby still an agent, right, And I mean you're
getting a different perspective from agents than what you would
get from a school or a team and maybe what
is reality as well. So that's not saying anything about
this deal. It's not saying anything about this overall kind
of you. But what's gonna happen then with some of
those other guys and gals that you are able to
(07:12):
represent and you can't get them a deal like this
because not everyone is a five star left tackle. I
think it's going to create some schisms and locker rooms,
aren't he Because this is the first guy where we know,
for damn sure in the REVS Share era exactly how
much he's getting.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
I know, you geek out over this because this is right.
I'm sorry, no, no, but I know this is right
up your alley. And that's why I texted you. Yes,
I go are you?
Speaker 2 (07:34):
Yeah? I wasn't mad.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
Did you Did you actually talk about it last night?
Speaker 5 (07:39):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (07:39):
Yeah, yeah, we talked about it. I don't see what happened.
Is so if the Friday Night Show, I think is
Brion yet Brandon Morrow?
Speaker 3 (07:47):
Are you right here?
Speaker 4 (07:48):
Good morning, Good evening, the Friday Night Show, is is
fair to say it's kind of a mind bleep, because
that's perfect right right. Well, we'll start getting into these
topics that we want to talk about, and then the
next thing, you know, the callers just take over.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
You know, for instance, who was the all.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
Star last night from Katie Texas that called in at
Maller She wanted to know where Ben Moller was and
I think she liked my voice. And then Mike the
Leprechaun will explain how he almost got accosted by security
whenever he came to LA and the next thing, you know,
you look at the clock and it's three in the
morning and the show's almost over. So I probably didn't
give it the justice that it deserves, Arnie. But we'll
(08:29):
do that for you here. Okay, all right, that's fair.
That's fair man.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
So it's already implaying here on Fox Sports.
Speaker 4 (08:36):
Ready, we got you tonight and then of course in
our regular slot tomorrow night, Aaron and Jason getting the
fourth of July night off.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
Are you a big fourth of July guy?
Speaker 3 (08:44):
I am a big fourth of July guy. I watched
the Nathan's Hot Dog Contest, though I would think that
more people would be excited about it as Joey just
that was coming back after what a two year hiatus, right,
and it really kind of didn't feel that way. I mean,
we knew he was gonna go away the competition. I
get the feeling that maybe we've got to add something new,
(09:04):
you know what I'm saying. Maybe he jumped the shark.
I suggested yes to say maybe, and I hate to
even suggest this, but maybe the commentary should be like
Stephen A. Smith or something like that. I mean, could
you imagine him doing that? And that would be right up.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
His alley, I mean, on everything else. I'm kind of
surprised he's not.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
Maybe they should make it a relay. After the ten
minutes of hot dogs, it's five minutes of parogiser or
burritos or I don't know, but I don't know. I
didn't see Mike. A lot of people were all excited
on Twitter when it was all said and done.
Speaker 4 (09:34):
Well somebody on Twitter, because if you haven't, if you
haven't followed Arnie at Stinking Genius one, then you know
that this is the new and exciting show. Let's taking
over the program. Maybe that's Friday Night as well. But
Michael was one of the first in on your tweet
tonight and said, can we please brainstorm more ideas for
how they can spice up the hot dog contest? Doesn't
(09:58):
it just kind of say the fourth of July, you
played the Luke Gerrigg speech.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
Right right, Yes, I did.
Speaker 4 (10:03):
Yeah, if you're into wimbled in and the fourth of Tennis,
it's a it's a massive sports weekend. My fourth of
July memory and sports seems to be centered around tragedy
the death of Steve McNair right, which happened on the
fourth of July, at least when we found out about it.
I kind of feel like there is a void on
the fourth of July. Sports wise. It's the middle of
(10:23):
the baseball season. I give credit to Major League Baseball
for trying to do something different. Like MLB TV was
free yesterday. If you pulled up the app, you could
watch any game anywhere as long as it wasn't blacked
out by their stupid blackout rules. You have you have Astros, Dodgers,
you have the Subway Series, you have Cardinals Cups.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
You have a lot of good games.
Speaker 4 (10:40):
But the network's just they didn't want to do more
with it, I guess more than anything else. And if
it's not on Fox or ESPN, then I guess it's
too hard for you y'all to kind of dig into
your apps or try to find another channel. I mean,
I'm I'm watching Summerly tonight for goodness sakes. I Mean
the point is, I feel like the fourth of July
it's more about what's coming up and not what's happening.
(11:01):
The memories on fourth of July. What do we have
to go back for lou Garrettguani eighty years.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
Six years was eighty six years six years ago.
Speaker 4 (11:09):
NASCAR did away with the Daytona race, which was one
of my favorite. I mean, I would be nerded out
on NASCAR tonight if NASCAR is still race to Daytona
on the fourth of July weekend. But I think my point,
more than anything else, is does it kind of show
you where we are in the sports world when the
big story on the Fourth of July is the freaking
hot dog eating contest?
Speaker 3 (11:28):
No, you know, And I was I was saying, Look,
everybody says this is the slow part. I really don't
think so. As we always have a lot of stuff
to talk about, but it just feels like there's avoiding games.
I look, I like baseball, but this was a chance
for ESPN to really, you know, make the Fourth of
July there. It's kind of like the way, you know,
the NBA used to have Christmas and the NFL had Thanksgiving.
(11:50):
This was their chance they didn't have any games on
the fourth of July. You're right, it was. I have
MLB television on my cable anyway, so I just put
on the met Yankees. I enjoyed that.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
That's a great game.
Speaker 3 (12:02):
Yeah, it was, a matter of fact, my nephew and
the family went to today's game down in Queens. It's
you know, but none of the games were on ESPN,
and this was their chance to kind of take over
the holiday. And I really feel like they dropped the
ball on that one. Chris, who dropped the ball at ESPN?
Speaker 4 (12:21):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, no, exactly, don't get mad.
I give baseball all the credit in the world. They tried.
They gave great matchups, and you know, I got Hot
Bench on Fox and Judge Judy and then a Moory
on Friday afternoon. Right, you tell me Fox couldn't pick
up one of these games. Come on, guys, have Fox
Sports one at least. But yeah, interesting, interesting, fourth of July.
(12:42):
But you're not a big fire. There's still fireworks going on.
I don't know if you guys can hear him in
the background of our Goldsby Oklahoma Studios. But I still
got Yahoo's shooting off fireworks left and right. You probably
don't have to deal with that too much in Vermont,
do you.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
No, we you know, we have it up by the
lake and they do it the day before the fourth
of July. That's what they do that that's their tradition here.
So and then there's a little bit on the fourth
of July and then it all dies down. After that.
The weather was kind of bad, so they kind of
cut it real short and they just wrapped it up
real quick.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
Well, I missed you. I missed you last week.
Speaker 4 (13:14):
I went on vacation last week and and I and
I missed our regular Sunday night show. But I'm sure,
I'm sure, Arnie. It was a three hour tribute to
the Oklahoma City thunder right.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
Oh, absolutely, that's we couldn't stop talking about Oklahoma City.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
It was.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
It was incredible. I mean, and you know what, You're
not gonna believe this. Two people called up and it
was the two people that were at the parade. Was
the only two people that were at the parade.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
I don't know what you saw? What you want? That
was the most massive?
Speaker 3 (13:42):
No, you had a good crowd, man, Yeah, I know,
I know you had a good crowd. You had you
had what how did that start? It filled up a
whole city block?
Speaker 2 (13:48):
I think that's right. How did that start? About the
crowd not being good?
Speaker 3 (13:52):
I saw that. I'm like I saw that that. I
saw the picture of it, like, you look pretty close.
It looked pretty good to me. I guess, but I go,
I'll just go with it. That and sucked when Plank
comes back on the I'm just gonna go with that one.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
You know.
Speaker 3 (14:05):
Well, maybe it was like a fake a Twitter account
I was on the news.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
I guess whatever.
Speaker 4 (14:10):
Maybe, So well, we do have a busy show tonight
and a lot of topics to get into the Roman
numeral rundown.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
What do we cap off at tonight, Arnie? What'd you have? Sixteen?
Speaker 3 (14:17):
I think we fifteen and number fifteen is my son
maybe playing in the NHL again. So that's that's the
least one.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
Are you serious?
Speaker 3 (14:26):
But well, I'm hoping he doesn't think he has a chance,
but I'm trying to push him to do it.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
Well, okay, hold on here, this is a big deal.
Speaker 4 (14:33):
This gives you that opportunity to be the dad that's
in the stand and get that camera cutaway where you're
pumping your fist and you're like, that's my boy when
he makes a big time I.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
Could finally be the dad that I always wanted to
go to my son. The NHL came up with a
new rule. I think it was yesterday or the day
if I don't remember, Like within the last two days.
My wife saw this. They're going to allow every team
to have a third goalie, you know, like the emergency goalie.
But it's not gonna be like a zamboni driver or
(15:01):
you know, like sometimes you see the zamboni driver come
in because they have to go to an emergency goalie.
So they're going to be a third goalie. He's going
to practice with the team, and he's actually going to
travel with the team. But it's not going to be
like a high end goalie, you know what I mean,
because those guys are going to be trying to fight
it out for contracts and play Triple A and and
that type of level. So you know, you got to
(15:22):
live nearby and you got to have some contacts. But
I'm pushing him to do it. I think it would
be fun for him.
Speaker 2 (15:28):
Couldn't he have been the emergency goalie too? Is that still?
How does that work out?
Speaker 3 (15:33):
It's not the end. There won't be an emergency goalie
et Okay, right? So right, so now it's just gonna
be three goalies and you'll practice with the team every
day and you only play if there's an emergency during
the game. But I think he should do it.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
It's the going rate their salary wise, I'm trying to know.
Speaker 3 (15:50):
I was thinking about that. Yeah, he's doing well now,
but I would think you'd want to go ahead and
do that for a couple of years. It could be fun.
Speaker 4 (15:56):
I can't watch a sporting event with my father in
law without him as skive me. How much every single
get that guy make? Like Brianman, I don't you want
me to tell you?
Speaker 2 (16:06):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (16:06):
Sure, he's on a three year, one hundred and twenty
million dollar contract.
Speaker 3 (16:10):
You know, I saw, I saw. I sent you a
tweet that said ball boys make three thousand dollars a game.
I'm like, man, that's a lot of money to be
the I'm serious, three thousand dollars a game. That's incredible
that I hate.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
Maybe I missed my calling.
Speaker 3 (16:24):
Maybe yeah, I should have been a ball boy. Absolutely,
And the chain guys only make seven to fifty a game.
You think they'd make a little bit more than that.
I'm shocked.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
I mean, have you seen some of the chain guys.
Speaker 3 (16:36):
Especially well, they just stand there.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
Yeah, they don't do anything anymore. I mean, that's kind here.
Speaker 3 (16:41):
Keep oh we got to run out into the field.
But they don't actually, you know, measure it. It's it's
not guys on the field. They don't really do anything.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
So we got a busy night for you tonight. When
we come back.
Speaker 4 (16:51):
I want to hit Roman numeral run right, Roman numeral one. Oh,
no trouble, Oh gosh. But your tweets are important to
Arnie and I. We love to read them, we love
to see him and it's the best way to stay
in touch with the program. You can find us at
Tinking Genius one. I'm at Plank Show. Everyone go follow
us at Fox Sports Radio. When we come back, it
is a contractually obligated segment to talk about Lebron James.
(17:13):
But there seems to be some new news brewing, which
we'll dive into next. Arnie and plankin for Jason and
Aaron here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (17:21):

Maller with me and a lot to have you join

God's name is the Fifth Hour. I'll tell you it's
a spin off of it. Ben Maler show, a cult

amazing facts about human nature and more. Listen to The

or wherever you get your podcast.
Speaker 4 (18:03):
All right, it's already been playing here on Fox Sports Radio.
Dis Sega is in with an update coming up. I
don't know about five minutes from now. We have, you know,
some tragic news from Major League Baseball. I wasn't even
aware that Bobby Jinks was ill.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
Story goodness, man.
Speaker 4 (18:23):
Oh just and can you imagine how terrible that is?
Cancer sucks, man, But what a legend. We had another
trade in the NBA. Cam Whitmore is now a member
of the Wizards. I kind of I kind of liked him.
I thought there was a there was something there. But
he gets traded for two second round picks and the
summer league starts tonight, which I remember you and I
(18:43):
doing Summer league shows. After Victor wimbin Yama's debut, U
said he was terrible.
Speaker 3 (18:48):
So remember I said that, Oh my goodness, look at
this guy.
Speaker 4 (18:52):
I've got my dows. He's JJ wattill never make it
in the NFL whenever he was drafted. Jalen Hurts, Jalen
Hurts will never be an NFL quarterback. And there's no
way the Raiders will ever trade Khalil Mack.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
You've had some doozies show.
Speaker 4 (19:06):
Hey, O Tani stinks and well do you know what,
I gotta start bending the knee a little bit to
this one. The Joe Allen Beide is cooked. That one's
looking a little bit more. Yeah, yeah, that was. That
was even pre the Olympics when you were saying that.
Speaker 3 (19:24):
So he was done A nailed that right around the
right time, maybe even a little late on that. It
was like he was done before them, to be honest.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
Until he ends up on the Knicks, then he's amazing against.
Speaker 3 (19:34):
The thing that ever happened. I thought he's gonna end
up on the Lakers, to be honest with.
Speaker 4 (19:37):
You, Oh really, well, I don't know that the Lakers
are done, but that leads us right in beautifully. It's
like we've worked together or something to the Lebron James
story this week. Now, I, as you know, I tend
to kind of have my allegiances more towards the Purple
and Gold. I've been a Lakers fan most of my life.
But as I'm watching this unfold, I know Bree just
(19:57):
wants to see the world burn in LA because she
is a son who now is having so much joy
over people getting excited about DeAndre eight and potentially bringing
something to Lakers.
Speaker 2 (20:06):
Right, Brie, I'm so excited.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
I'm already planning on getting a credential because I want
to go to all the post.
Speaker 4 (20:12):
Games, just watch it all burn whenever he gives zero effort.
But the other part of it is I kind of
got a little bit juiced to whatever I saw. He
opted in, not fifty two million dollars a lot of coin, Arnie,
but gives you another year with him in LA. And
then immediately as soon as he opted in, the drama starts.
Speaker 5 (20:28):
Right.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
You had to know the Lakers set up for winning.
I mean, they were the two seed in the freaking
West this year. What do you yeah?
Speaker 3 (20:33):
But they were only three seed, but they were only sorry.
They were only two games away from being like the
seventh seeds. It was a two games that was the
whole West, right, I understand that it was. It was
very close, so they could have easily fallen down to
the number seven seed. Let me ask you this, This
is a tough question. The Lakers had fifty wins. Do
they have fifty wins this year without Lebron? I mean,
I can't just take him off the team and not
(20:55):
replace him with somebody. So I assume that they get
somebody to replace him, maybe not as great as him. Well,
when fifty or more or less?
Speaker 4 (21:05):
What do you help me understand something though, Arnie, Let
me back up just a second, make me smart. How
does it go from him opting in for that amount
of money and then after you opt in saying, you know,
I want to make sure that we're set up for winning.
Like where did where did you taking that chunk of money?
How did that coincide with wanting to help this team win?
Speaker 3 (21:27):
I don't know why everybody's all hung up about that,
And shame on you, Chris. The guy earned his money.
He deserved his money. I don't care if he's a
multi millionaire billionaire or whatever he is. He had every
right for that foot. It was a fifty two to
fifty three whatever it was, He earned that right. That
was his money. Anybody else would have taken that money also,
Tom Brady or whoever.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
But they have it in the past. I mean, we'll
see you guys.
Speaker 3 (21:53):
Options did Kobe?
Speaker 2 (21:54):
What did?
Speaker 3 (21:55):
Kobe got a lot of money his last two years
with the Lake was it like sixty million yees?
Speaker 4 (21:59):
But my point is I'm not besmirching him. Look at
that fancy word for taking the fifty two million dollars.
Speaker 2 (22:07):
I think everyone would do.
Speaker 4 (22:08):
But alreadie, where did it go from taking that money
to then be like well, I mean, I don't know,
are we set up to win or not?
Speaker 2 (22:14):
Like what right?
Speaker 3 (22:15):
I do think I think he kind of knew that
the Lakers really don't want him back. I don't think
he's going to be back to start the season off.
I think his days playing for the Lakers are done.
He won't play another game for the Lakers. I don't
know if Cleveland really wants and I'm starting to see
reports that they they don't want him. I think what
he done on social media, I don't was it yesterday
(22:37):
the day before all the days are kind of blending
him with the looking to be working out at the
Cleveland facility. Oh, I do that every summer, but then
every summer, right, yeah, but you don't put pictures of
it every year, and then worrying a hat that says
welcome home. I play golf every day, you know, wear
that hat every year, so you know, we're not stupid.
And he thinks he's Aaron Rodgers or something like that,
and he's going to play games with us. We know
(22:59):
exactly what's going on. His days are numbered. And the
new owners, the Walters Group, I don't think they want
him around. I think they're ready to move on with Luca.
And matter of fact, I'll even and I said this
to Torris yesterday, and he said, I was crazy to
think like this.
Speaker 5 (23:13):
I be.
Speaker 3 (23:14):
The Walters Group actually had to approve that trade to
get Luca because they've been working on buying the Lakers
for two years now, and I'm sure Jeanie Buss didn't
want to upset the card or anything like that, and said, hey,
this is the move we're gonna make her. You guys
okay with it, and they probably signed off on it.
Speaker 4 (23:30):
Well, if they would have said they're not okay with
that move? Aren't you should have been any petition.
Speaker 1 (23:34):
For the.
Speaker 3 (23:36):
Right?
Speaker 4 (23:38):
All right, listen, there's more. You've got a lot of
subtext to Roman numeral number one. Let's go a little
bit more in depth with Lebron coming up here in moments.
But first, here he.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
Is Derry Cobbs, Steve de Sager. What with what's training
in the world of sports? What's going on?
Speaker 7 (23:51):
Hello guys, and what a happy Sunday to you?
Speaker 2 (23:54):
I know, my whole schedule is town off.
Speaker 7 (23:57):
I know, especially numerals.
Speaker 3 (23:59):
Look, I wrote we're filling in for Jason Smith and
Mike Harmon, and what we're filling it for? A Yeah,
Erin Torre.
Speaker 7 (24:06):
To Jason soon you forget Aaron Torres. Didn't you just
co host with him yesterday? Okay?
Speaker 3 (24:12):
Yeah, but I forgot four hours ago. Yes, don't ask
me to remember stuff like that.
Speaker 7 (24:17):
So it is Saturday night. You two filly it on
the holiday weekend, but you have your regular Sunday night
show still tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (24:23):
Today, Right, I'm making everybody work tomorrow. Everybody back at it.
Let's go, let's go.
Speaker 5 (24:29):
Wow.
Speaker 7 (24:29):
Yeah, such a taskmaster. Yes, doesn't even know who actually
works here.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
I don't know anybody is.
Speaker 7 (24:33):
We got got four late ball games tonight. The White
Sox are winning at Colorado eight three in the bottom
of the eighth inning. I brought this up on the
previous show. Are you aware that the White Socks genuinely
a bad team again this year? I know it was
historically bad last year, They're not that much better this year.
The White Sox on the road ten and thirty five,
the Rockies at home nine and thirty five.
Speaker 3 (24:56):
Something's got to give now.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
That's right.
Speaker 7 (24:58):
That's no tie games in baseball. There's your matchup for
the weekend. I hope you've got your tickets in advance.
The Rangers are leading six to two at San Diego
in the top of the seventh. Giants lead is now
seven to one in Sacramento over the A's top of
the sixth, and there's a scoreless game on FS one
Pirates at Mariners Zip zip in the bottom of the sixth.
Everything else is final, including another Detroit Tiger's victory one
(25:19):
nothing at Cleveland. The Guardians have lost nine in a row.
Detroit starter Casey Mize nine and two. Shoheyo Todi was
the Dodger starter in La tonight, two scoreless innings, three
strikeouts ERA so far one point five zero. Of course,
then they have to have a reliever after him, who
quickly allowed four runs in the third and the Dodgers
loss six to four to Houston. The loss to Justin Robleski.
(25:42):
We brought this up last night on the show. Every
time it gets to this point in the Dodger rotation,
you know, most teams have a five man rotation. The
Dodgers don't have five men. They have seven injured starting pitchers,
so it's two bullpen games back to back essentially. Every
time it come to this spot in the rotation. It's
stunning to me that it took, for example, a month
(26:04):
until they lost a series again, because they've lost Friday
and Saturday with I can't even name the guys they
put on the mountain.
Speaker 3 (26:11):
Stunning to me is they can't find another pitcher to
start a game.
Speaker 7 (26:14):
And next week is coming back today apparently he's going
to minor league reeeat next week, so a little closer
to him, but the minor leaguer, and that's essentially what
he was that allowed ten runs in the sixth last
night in La. He already was sent back to the
miners this morning.
Speaker 3 (26:32):
If you're if you're losing eighteen to one, I don't care.
I'm calling Bartolo Cologne and I'm getting like g I
pitched it. I think he's still pitching in some leak
out there. Let's go, let's get out there.
Speaker 7 (26:43):
Bartolo, Well, he could throw faster than the infielder Row
hosted in the last in Some of his pitches were
in the forties. You don't really need a gun for those, honestly.
Baltimore won in ten innings at Atlanta, nine to six.
Mets beat the Yankees twelve six. The Yankees have lost
six in a row. The first place Blue Jays have
won seventh straight. They beat the Angels in eleven innings
(27:05):
four to three. W NBA wins for LA and Minnesota
and one seed Yannick Center won his fourth round match
at Wimbledon.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
Back to you. Are you into Wimbledon, Steve Yes?
Speaker 7 (27:15):
And it's by the way, getting great ratings. I mean
that first day, this first day of cable coverage, was
their best ratings in twenty years.
Speaker 3 (27:23):
But there's been upsets all over the place.
Speaker 7 (27:25):
Right exactly, So that's what we need to know. Okay,
no more Cocoa golf no more. You know Pegoula was
out quickly as well. Another American is Alcarez.
Speaker 2 (27:35):
How did Jimmy Konravich?
Speaker 7 (27:37):
Is that enough to get still be watching as we
had toward week two?
Speaker 2 (27:43):
We could do this all night long, by the way,
I know.
Speaker 3 (27:44):
We see, but those were the good times that Tennis
ig watched it back then.
Speaker 2 (27:48):
I see what was going on.
Speaker 7 (27:49):
I will be talking more about Summer League in about
an hour, just over an hour. But we did have
that game in Salt Lake City opening their few days
of summer league as Utah one tonight. But for Phil
and the loss, the first rounder of EJ. Edgecomb had
twenty eight points in thirty minutes on the court.
Speaker 4 (28:05):
So hey, great stuff, Steve now on the Roman numeral
rundown on this is This is one thing that I
find interesting for those that are new to the stinking genius.
He doesn't send a spreadsheet or a Google doc or
a word document.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
He has a yellow notepad with very terrible handwriting, very
run down, very good pedmanship.
Speaker 4 (28:24):
E free topic and Roman number one with Lebron has
eight subtexts on it.
Speaker 2 (28:29):
And what I find interesting, it was.
Speaker 3 (28:31):
Also not only eight subtexts, but some sub subtext of
the numbers where I went from a number back to
the letter. Again you missed out of number five, I
went from five to eight to five feet to six,
seven and eight. You missed that.
Speaker 4 (28:43):
You also did that on numbout two, but no three.
Excuse me, but here's why I didn't get to it.
Why are you so enamored with his legacy right now?
Speaker 3 (28:52):
Like why don't we because I don't think he's coming
back and every bringing in the lakes again?
Speaker 2 (28:56):
Yeah right, I mean, and so you are they going
to retire his jersey, have a banner, have a statue.
Speaker 3 (29:00):
I'm just wondering. I'm curious to see how Laker fans
view Lebron because I get the feeling, and you could
tell me if I'm wrong, and I'm just make up
a number. I feel like seventy five percent of Laker
fans dislike Lebron James, And I'm trying to figure out
why he did this crap?
Speaker 2 (29:19):
Well he did where's your answer? Crap like this?
Speaker 3 (29:21):
Well he did bring you a championship.
Speaker 2 (29:23):
I don't know what happens in that championship? What does
everyone do?
Speaker 3 (29:27):
What do you mean? Clown on it, you make it right,
all right, but it still is. At championship everybody, everybody
played by the same rules. And we could debate that
another time. But it's all about the social media things.
It's all about the I'm working out in Cleveland, I'm
morriing a Hathen says, welcome home. That could be it.
I could under no, no, no no, no, you're you're, you're, you're.
Speaker 4 (29:46):
I think you're going too deep. It's as simple as
opting in a team that just had Luca and Lebron
play together for I don't even know if it would
be half the season right right right and look pretty
good at times they were if they were one of
the last teams to beat the Thunder by double digits.
Brandon to a situation where their roster let him down
(30:07):
in the in the playoffs, but you know they're trying
to do what.
Speaker 2 (30:10):
They can to firm that up.
Speaker 4 (30:12):
And then as soon as you get him to say
I'm in, he suddenly has these cryptic almost there I say,
passive aggressive.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
Reports from Rich Paul. Again, no problem, that's his right,
but I think it's crap like that for Laker fans,
at least for this one that says dude, what are
you doing? What are you talking about?
Speaker 4 (30:31):
The only place you're going to go that is more
set up to win consistently right now.
Speaker 2 (30:36):
Is okay?
Speaker 4 (30:36):
See, and I don't think they want you. You gotta
go to Houston. That's an unknown Cleveland.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
I mean obviously, I mean I don't think they want him,
but they.
Speaker 4 (30:44):
Can't afford him unless you're gonna give up core pieces
of what you have right now, well, unless you want
to trade for Karl Anthony town straight up.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
That's a Bill Simmons straight.
Speaker 3 (30:53):
And tell me if I'm wrong. But I brought this
up yesterday. I know you have to trade salary for
salary and he's making fifty two million. Sure, we're dealing
with the Walters group, who came up with very creative
salaries for the Dodgers. Did they not like Shoi is
making what ten dollars this year and the rest is
like getting it like a bonus? Or can't they do that?
Couldn't they rewrite Lebron's contract where he's making one million
(31:16):
and the rest is like paid up front or something,
or that doesn't work NBA.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
He's got a little different salary world than Major League Baseball.
I would have sa.
Speaker 3 (31:23):
I'm not a capologist, but I figure this group is
smart enough to figure out in baseball that everybody was
going bulliss to go. No, that's not fair, that's not fair.
They'll do it in the NBA. Sabow Also, maybe maybe
they will.
Speaker 4 (31:37):
I think the NBA confuses me more than anything else
on hee because just what I feel like, I'm starting
to understand salary caps.
Speaker 3 (31:43):
Right you said? Sometimes, Yeah, all.
Speaker 4 (31:46):
Of a sudden you get aprons and get these second aprons,
you get third apron. It's like, wait, what iprin are
we on? Where are we going with this right now?
But for me, when you ask the question, hey man,
how do Laker fans feel about it? Sure, you're grateful
for the title, right apps. I'm not questioning it by
any stretch to the imagination. I'm one of those that
fights back against it. But to me, you know, like
you're your Roman number one lebron point three with the
(32:09):
ABC banner statue Jersey that let's see what, let's see what.
Speaker 2 (32:13):
I don't care about that at all.
Speaker 3 (32:17):
I don't think, by the way, I don't think he's
going to get a bann or. I don't think he's
going to get a statue they may retire his number.
I'm not so sure they will. He's not even a
top five Laker of all time. I'm not sure sure
if they do anything special, to be honest with.
Speaker 4 (32:31):
You, oh, they'll do something special. On he became the
all time scoring leader with the Lakers. Didn't win a title.
I mean I think they they would. But if you're
talking top five Lakers all time, no, he's not.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
He's not that guy.
Speaker 4 (32:44):
I mean to me, it's Magic, Kobe, Kareem Jerry West
shocks in that conversation.
Speaker 3 (32:52):
Oh yeah, absolutely shock. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (32:55):
I think now if you want to get into like
top ten, you know, maybe he is in that conversation
around you know, six or seven, maybe seven. I was
I just pulled something up here real quick. In their
top five. Of course I was laughing hearing Martin. Why
he saw about is this list?
Speaker 2 (33:11):
Ai?
Speaker 4 (33:12):
But this this top five list that I found from
something called basket News. Had Kobe won Magic two? Uh,
Kareem was three, Elgin Baylor was four, which five? Yeah,
absolutely shack. At six they had Lebron seven, which I
thought was kind of high because old school people would
tell you George Miken needs to be high or even
James Worthy.
Speaker 2 (33:31):
But my point is, like that stuff, I don't I
don't care about that right now. I just I want
to know what the value is for him.
Speaker 4 (33:38):
Are they truly viewing him as an expiring contract, which
is what Brian Windward said. You can't fathom that, And
why would you opt in to immediately say yeah, let's
see what they do to find out if they're committed
to winning like that? That's just a part to me,
is seems enraging.
Speaker 3 (33:52):
He may have made the comment because he knew that
they don't want him back, so he wants to be.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
Getting out in front of it.
Speaker 3 (33:57):
Yeah, exactly, Megan, sound like, Okay, well, if we're not
gonna win, I might as well go somewhere else. I
feel like he's doing that. There's always a reason why
he's out in front of things, and he goes to
social media and you know, calling the narrative here, that's
exactly what he's doing.
Speaker 4 (34:13):
All right, we'll get a break when we come back. Listen,
do you do have a lot on Lebron? Do we
need to add anything more before we grab a break
here and try to dive into a little major league
baseball talk?
Speaker 3 (34:24):
Are you good I'm just do you not think he's
You think he's coming back to the Lakers, You think
he'll play for them again.
Speaker 4 (34:30):
I don't think that he is going to play for
the Lakers next year. I think that the Lakers are
going to find a way to make a deal before
the season starts.
Speaker 3 (34:39):
If he goes to the Knicks, I'm no longer going
to be a Knicks fan.
Speaker 4 (34:41):
And if he goes to the Knicks, it would be
like a player trade right based on making the numbers work.
Speaker 3 (34:46):
I will cry, I'm not coming to I'm gonna say
our boss, so I'm not coming to work if he
gets traded.
Speaker 4 (34:52):
Keep this tape because as soon as the trade happens,
you're gonna love the one I love like you've never
seen them. All Right, Jason and Aaron are out tonight.
It's already in playing right here on Fox Sports Radio Instagram. Hey,
make sure to check out the Fox Sports Radio YouTube channel.
In fact, if you missed the interview that Arnie and
Aaron had last night, yeah, with Derek Shelby, it's up
(35:14):
there right now. He's the agent for Felix Ojo. Also
Nichia Kennedy at Texas Tech three or five point one
million dollar deal for Ojo. You can hear that and
and much much more on our YouTube channel, a whole
bunch of video highlights from our shows. And make sure
you subscribe so anytime there's something new, you have instant
(35:34):
access to our Fox Sports Radio videos on YouTube.
Speaker 2 (35:37):
Go subscribe. Today.
Speaker 4 (35:40):
You just just do a one day celebration, you guys.
Carry it over into today or even tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (35:45):
No, no, no things back open. No holidays stores are
back open. Uh, that's it. Let's get going, man, let's
see you. Widays done.
Speaker 2 (35:55):
Holiday, Holiday's over? What are you talking about? One more day?
Speaker 4 (35:57):
Make it a fort a weekend for some I got
a well, I mean, we worked, but I kind of
felt like I had a four day weekend, right because
when the fourth falls on a Friday, you're supposed to
get like an extra day for the fourth.
Speaker 2 (36:09):
Right. So my local job, my nine to five, gave
me a Thursday off.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
Oh huw man, you you had the privileged life.
Speaker 2 (36:17):
Look at you celebrated by still doing the overnight sh and.
Speaker 3 (36:20):
You're gravvy that you needed a nap and you got
Thursday and Friday off.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
I don't know, it's not.
Speaker 4 (36:24):
Like it was off though, I mean, there was a
lot of work that was involved in there, and you
know me, I'm an outdoorsman, Arnie, so there was a
lot of stuff around the house that needed to be done.
But and I'm getting ready because hold on, where's my
little countdown at? You know, we're getting closer to football here, dude,
the countdown is on to the start of more weeks
college football season. I've lost all my numbers from last
(36:44):
night's show, Bree, what's happening to me? We are forty
eight days away from the start of the college football season,
and we are twenty five days away from the NFL
free season.
Speaker 3 (36:58):
So nice, nice.
Speaker 4 (37:01):
Chargers lines to get things started. But let me get
a couple of your tweets here, Yeah, real quick, before
we get two carried away again at Stinking Genius one,
I'm at Plank Show. Everybody go follow us at Fox
Sports Radio. Let me see where do we want to start?
UCLA Dodger Frank has kind of been on fire tonight,
he writes, The hot Dog Getting contest is getting to
slam dunk contest levels on irrelevance, at least until somebody
(37:26):
beats Joey Chestnut.
Speaker 2 (37:27):
You buy that is true?
Speaker 3 (37:28):
Yeah, because he did win by about twenty four hot dogs. Now,
the only thing is, if for betting wise, the over
under was seventy and a half or maybe seventy one,
and he had exactly seventy one, you could have gotten
fifteen to one odds that he beat the next opponent
by twenty five hot dogs. So he came close to that.
But otherwise, yeah, it's you got to give us a
(37:49):
little excitement. We need somebody that's gonna go ahead and
push him a little bit, somebody that's gonna go ahead,
and you know, maybe and by the way, Joey Chestnut,
I don't find even very charisma, you know. I know
Cavino and Rich are friends with him. But if he
had more of a personality, maybe this would be a
little bit different, would be more into it. Or he tries, yeah,
(38:12):
he tries. Just what when he tries to have a personality?
Speaker 2 (38:15):
Yeah, no, no, let moviephrase that. I'm sorry.
Speaker 4 (38:18):
ESPN tries to make it look like the hot dog
eating people, the professional eaters. They try to make it
look like, you know, he's got a personality, but oof,
you're right, it is it is.
Speaker 3 (38:29):
He's got to talk a little smack, a little bit,
you know, and get it all riled up. But he's
more mild matter than anything.
Speaker 4 (38:36):
Exactly than Frank adds. Want to spice up the fourth
of July. Turn the hot the hot dog eating contest
into a competitive drinking competition. Most beers pounded in ten minutes,
and the winner gets a souvenir built sobriety tests in
a complimentary Uber ride home? What's more American than that?
Speaker 2 (38:55):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (38:55):
That might not be a bad idea. I kind of
like that in ten minutes of all the bill you
can swill what's.
Speaker 4 (39:01):
More American that than that? I mean, listen, not having
the Uber saying get your ass home? That would be
what's more America than that? But don't do that. Don't
drink and drive, don't let your don't let your liquid
courage costs you ten thousand dollars to potentially take another life.
Sober drivers. Michael writes interesting point, And I thought similarly,
(39:22):
if certain players have a big piece of the pie,
how big is too big where fan expectations will be
hard to meet, or where fans get upset because a
single guy in college football is getting too much of
the overall pie.
Speaker 3 (39:37):
It doesn't matter there the expectations already U among us
for this kid. They're expecting everything from him and take
him to the next level. Is what's gonna happen here?
Speaker 2 (39:46):
And then this from Jason B.
Speaker 4 (39:47):
Diamond, another MLB pitcher tearing his UCLA and needing UCLA
ucl and eating Tommy John surgery. Is the pitch clock
the worst thing to happen in Major League Baseball twenty
five days, So the l NFL preseason. Let's go our
one of the books NFL Talk.
Speaker 2 (40:04):
Next, you're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 4 (40:09):
Here we roll, Here we roll an hour number two,

always pop up on the top of your screen.
Speaker 2 (40:37):
So you gotta do a whole new Roman numeral rundown
for tomorrow night show too.
Speaker 3 (40:40):
Oh absolutely, what do you think I'm just gonna recycle
this one.
Speaker 2 (40:43):
What is wrong with you? You know?
Speaker 4 (40:44):
I mean, I don't know if we're gonna get to
all fifteen. We like it, you know.
Speaker 3 (40:48):
We could double up on a couple of them, but
we got the USA Mexico soccer game tomorrow at six o'clock.
Speaker 2 (40:55):
Well, it'll be done by the time we hit the air.
Speaker 3 (40:58):
Yeah, absolutely, unless we get in.
Speaker 4 (41:00):
Some wildly elongated shootout situation. There was a great question asked.
I think it was Eddie her Boy Nature Boy on
the X on the social media front, and you had
brought up in Roman numeral.
Speaker 2 (41:12):
Fifteen tonight, Arnie. Yeah, sha'se. You're trying to push your
son Shase Spaniard to.
Speaker 3 (41:17):
Get to the NHL.
Speaker 4 (41:18):
That's right now. Would you be like a Tyres Halliburton dad?
Would you be like in Tiger Wood's dad. What what's
kind of your plan whenever Shay goes big times?
Speaker 3 (41:29):
Oh, definitely a Halliburton.
Speaker 2 (41:32):
Come here for it.
Speaker 3 (41:33):
Yeah, absolutely, giving people the finger through the glass and
all that stuff. Yeah, you got to be kidding me.
Of course I'd be doing that stuff.
Speaker 2 (41:41):
I guess hockey dad life is a little bit different
than NBA dad life.
Speaker 3 (41:45):
Oh, it was intense for a long time there. I'll
tell you it was nerve wracking too. When you're a
kid's a goalie, it just eats at you. I couldn't
I couldn't stand behind them and watch them. I had
to be on the other side of the eyes. I agree,
really and oh no, I couldn't stand near him. It
was just too much on me.
Speaker 4 (42:02):
Wow, I didn't realize that. I thought you didn't have
a soul. I just thought you would kind of sit
there and make fun of him if he didn't.
Speaker 3 (42:08):
No, no, I wouldn't stand behind him, and then he
would look up at my wife whenever he'd make a
mistake and should give him some hand signals. I go,
stop talking to him, man, leave the get along, let
him play. Oh it was very stressful, very very tough time.
Speaker 2 (42:20):
Well, good luck. Now, is this something that he's on
the cusp of or is this like?
Speaker 3 (42:25):
No, no, I mean the NHL is expanding the three goalies,
and they're looking for no longer emergency goalies, but a
third string type goalie that will practice with the team
and go on the road with the team, and they
dress only in case of an emergency. If something should
happen to one of the goalies. So that that's the situation.
(42:46):
I guess you gotta have to live near one of
the teams. But that's okay, I wouldn't. I'd let him
move down to New York and you know, be near
the Devils or the Rangers or the Islanders or something
like that.
Speaker 4 (42:57):
Okay, So this is like your pilot it this is
like something that's just a pipe dream.
Speaker 3 (43:03):
George Plumpton, George Plumpton, right right, exactly.
Speaker 4 (43:07):
This is this is all a pipe dream for you
right now. This is just you hoping that it can
be something.
Speaker 2 (43:12):
Right.
Speaker 3 (43:13):
Well, you know his uh uncle has connections, you know,
the rich guy that used to own the Islanders, so
maybe you could swing something out there.
Speaker 4 (43:21):
Used to own the Islanders. Used to own the Islanders
is quite a line, I mean there is there's there's
a thirty for thirty about a guy who owned the
Islanders for a little bit and had no business owning
them is Charles.
Speaker 3 (43:32):
Oh really yeah, that's the same guy.
Speaker 2 (43:36):
All right.
Speaker 4 (43:36):
Before we get to your DEUK, Derek Shelby interviewed from
last night. I got a couple of cuts I want
to share from that. But you had something here for
the show tonight. That threw me off a little bit,
and it was the home field quote unquote advantage.
Speaker 3 (43:51):
Yeah, in the end of the NFL. Yeah, if I.
Speaker 4 (43:53):
Get these numbers, And I'm sure it was a tweet
somewhere that I missed that you sent me fifty three
percent or less in four the last six years, Yeah,
home teams have one.
Speaker 3 (44:04):
Yeah, fifty three percent or less of the home teams
have won four of the last six years. In the
fifty years before that, it's happened four times. So it
happened four times in the last fifty years. Now it's
happened four times in the last six years. So what
the article was really saying was do we no longer
(44:25):
have a home field advantage? Of what has going on?
Why is there no longer home field advantage? Huh?
Speaker 2 (44:30):
I like it? Are you buying it?
Speaker 3 (44:32):
I couldn't come up, you know, Torres and I we
couldn't figure out why the visiting teams have done so
well on the road. I'm not sure exactly why is it.
I think it's because the only thing I can come
up with christmasas prices are so high that the regular
fan is priced out and you get a lot of
the rich people that sit on the rast and they
(44:54):
don't really make it like a home craziness. That's the
only thing I could figure out. I'm not sure why
the home teams haven't really thrived like that, you.
Speaker 4 (45:04):
Know, and maybe you add into it some places that
art is tough to play. In other words, this Jack Vegas.
I mean, I love the Raiders. You cut me probably
bleed silver and black. Don't try please, But I mean,
(45:24):
most teams go in there and it's a home game.
The Raiders fans are great, don't get me wrong, but
that stadium constantly gets taken over. The Raiders haven't played
all that well there. I'm just trying to think in
the last six years a couple of reasons why, I mean.
Speaker 3 (45:39):
Could have.
Speaker 2 (45:40):
I don't know if this counts. I like, though, I
do like your theory.
Speaker 3 (45:44):
When when they go like play at a neutral site
and the home team loses, is that part of it? Also,
like when they play overseas or something or no, that
doesn't count.
Speaker 2 (45:53):
I don't know. That's a great question. Where was this article?
Speaker 3 (45:57):
I did send it to you?
Speaker 2 (45:58):
Oh you did?
Speaker 3 (45:59):
I forget the end? NFL right, Greg Augman Aman, is
that who it is that wrote it.
Speaker 4 (46:04):
Let me see, I've got it. I've got to dip
back into the text. And I don't think you sent
this to me less and half ago.
Speaker 3 (46:12):
Wow, maybe I just sent it to Torres then.
Speaker 2 (46:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (46:14):
See, I mean this is where I get. This is
where Arnie expects you to just remember everything that he's
ever sent you, even if it was a Roman numeral
that's brought up for tonight's show, and the story that
he sent you was from six months ago. He's like,
I texted you this like six months ago.
Speaker 3 (46:27):
I said to you, what's wrong with you? You don't
have it? Oh?
Speaker 2 (46:30):
I found it.
Speaker 3 (46:31):
I found it, Like, yeah, okay.
Speaker 4 (46:33):
Well to it to me because I mean, does this
mean I wonder what that looks like in the playoffs
compared to the regular season.
Speaker 3 (46:40):
Well, the playoffs, I mean, like just this last one,
the home teams just thrive. So you know, maybe the
playoffs are a little bit of a different story.
Speaker 2 (46:49):
I found it too, Yeah, I found it too.
Speaker 3 (46:51):
Right, So maybe the playoffs are a different story. But
the only reason I could think of, I mean, when
you see the crowd in like Kansas City, sure or
fill Itladelphia, they just seem so boisterous, so loud, so crazy,
even in New York. But you know, are they the
real fans out there? Or are the real fans of
when they say I'm not spending fifty dollars the park
(47:12):
and one hundred and fifty dollars a ticket and food
and this and that and sit in traffic, you know
I'm not gonna go ahead and do that. I'm priced
out of this whole.
Speaker 4 (47:21):
Okay, So there is that caveat, though, and I'm glad
that we found the story. Comparing regular season home field
advantage to the same in the playoffs can be misleading, right,
And the playoffs, the home team is always the higher seat,
and while that doesn't always equate to the better team,
it usually does. The home win rates are much higher.
Instead of fifty three percent for the home team the
(47:43):
twenty twenty fourth season, last year's playoffs saw home teams
go ten and two in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (47:50):
Wow, the highest rate of any season in fifty years.
Speaker 4 (47:55):
NFL home teams went nine and three in the playoffs
in twenty two and twenty three, So that's straight seasons
with a winning percentage of at least seventy five percent
for the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (48:06):
So the second makes a difference in the playoffs, yeah,
regular season.
Speaker 2 (48:10):
Yeah not as much in the regular season, not near.
Speaker 3 (48:14):
They said fifty three percent of equates to nine and eight,
which didn't get you into the playoffs. So last year,
so that you know, if you played every old game,
you'd be a nine in eighteen bet based on those
type of numbers.
Speaker 4 (48:25):
So basically what this is saying is, I, you know,
kind of met during the regular season, but you wanted
during the playoffs. How about this the Dallas Cowboys. In
the past two years, the Cowboys went eight well. In
twenty twenty three, the Cowboys went eight to no at home,
outscoring opponents by one hundred and seventy two points. It
(48:46):
was the best scoring differential in the NFL and in
franchise history. Last year, the Cowboys went to and seven
at home and were outscored by one hundred and twenty points.
Speaker 3 (48:56):
I remember, let's have jacked up the prices.
Speaker 4 (48:58):
In twenty twenty four, Dak Prescott got injured too. The
only home season worst than last year's Dallas Cowboys in
the last fifteen years was the twenty twenty three Commanders,
who went one and seven at home and were outscored
by a league worst one hundred and forty four points
nineteen points bown.
Speaker 3 (49:17):
Oh wow.
Speaker 4 (49:18):
And then last year you want to talk about a flip.
So twenty twenty three, the Commanders were won and seven
at home. Last year they went seven to two in
home games, and they have crazy fans.
Speaker 3 (49:28):
Also, I don't know why the Obviously a lot has
to do with the talent out there, but you know
you would think that the home team and maybe the spread.
If you look at the spread, they're usually a lot closer.
There's not like end to twelve fifteen point spreads is
often as there used to be. So they're saying the
games are better matchups, they're closer games, and maybe that's
(49:49):
another reason why the await team comes in. Plus it's
easier to fly to these games. Well it was always
easy to fly the last like ten years, but you
know back in the fifty years ago, it was tough
for them to come on in and pull the upset.
Speaker 4 (50:04):
Did you go in depth on this, like, did you
really read it? It's a fascinating article.
Speaker 3 (50:08):
No, I know you would geek out over that, so
I'd just let you read.
Speaker 2 (50:11):
Okay, explain, Now you read the headline. You knew that
I'd love it.
Speaker 4 (50:14):
One final point on this Two NFL teams have eleven
more wins at home than on the road since the
start of the twenty twenty one season.
Speaker 2 (50:24):
One of them.
Speaker 4 (50:25):
You're Miami Dolphins, twenty four and ten on the road
since twenty twenty one. All right, sorry, sorry, sorry, twenty
four in ten at home and thirteen and twenty one
on the road. Not surprisingly, they failed in the playoffs too.
The other team that is a great home team but
not very good on the road.
Speaker 3 (50:45):
Yeah, the Cleveland Browns. Oh, gay Attie here. I never
would have guessed that.
Speaker 2 (50:49):
They're twenty and four. I would have.
Speaker 4 (50:51):
I was surprised they had a winning record at home.
They're twenty and fourteen at home for the past four years,
but also nine and twenty five on the road, nine
and twenty five. The key difference, rights Greg Gorman, is
Cleveland's defense, which was thirty first in points allowed on
the road, but fourth in points allowed at home. Like
(51:12):
I was trying to come up when you first said this,
is there something to well, maybe defense travels not apparently
with the Cleveland.
Speaker 3 (51:20):
Brown No, not for them, right right.
Speaker 4 (51:22):
The next best, which was the NFL's best home record
over the past four years is Buffalo twenty eight and six.
Speaker 3 (51:29):
Well, whether I think it's got to do a lot
with that or some of that maybe.
Speaker 4 (51:32):
Though they still have a winning record, they're twenty and
thirteen on the road. Denver is also plus eight at
home weather and the Packers and the Bears are plus
seven at home.
Speaker 3 (51:42):
I would think Seattle was going to be on that list.
I'm surprised.
Speaker 4 (51:45):
I don't see Seattle. Yeah, I was too. The Eagles
and the Chiefs are perfect examples. Phillies twenty four inten
at home and twenty four in ten on the road.
The Chiefs are twenty seven and seven at home and
a league best twenty five and nine on the road
over the.
Speaker 2 (52:02):
Last four seasons.
Speaker 4 (52:04):
Huh our last three seasons setting in and out of
the four season is interesting.
Speaker 3 (52:08):
Right, Yeah? Yeah, you wonder why regular season, why there's
you know, that that type of home field advantage. But
in the playoffs it's a whole different story. The exception
to the rule, no doubt about it.
Speaker 4 (52:21):
But I do think we answered the question throughout all
of this. And if you guys haven't seen the piece,
it's right there on Fox Sports dot com home field
advantage and the myth I think the headline from Greg
omenspce here it is, where has home field advantage gone
for NFL teams?
Speaker 2 (52:37):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (52:37):
I would answer it's still there because the numbers in
the playoffs prove it out one hundred percent.
Speaker 3 (52:42):
That's a smaller sampling size when you give me just
twelve games, though, Chris.
Speaker 2 (52:46):
But it's the best versus the best, and it's the
most important time of the year.
Speaker 3 (52:49):
Right, true, true, absolutely.
Speaker 4 (52:52):
And then you talked about the international games this year,
the league will have seven games where the home team
is actually playing on another.
Speaker 3 (53:00):
Oh, so that does count that if they have the
home team loses, they count that as all. Yeah, exactly,
So that doesn't that's not fair of them. That doesn't
really shouldn't be part of it.
Speaker 2 (53:08):
I like this story, man, This is good stuff.
Speaker 3 (53:11):
Are you'll be gigging up for that for the whole suburb.
Speaker 4 (53:13):
Now I can sink whether they're good at home are
good on the road. There are five NFL teams with
a better record away from home over the past four years.
Speaker 2 (53:24):
The New England Patriots many.
Speaker 4 (53:27):
Platriots who were eleven and twenty three at home, but
fifteen and nineteen on the roads.
Speaker 2 (53:33):
It's twenty twenty one.
Speaker 3 (53:34):
That's crazy, is how about this?
Speaker 4 (53:36):
You mentioned Seattle, right, Yeah, Seattle and Arizona are better
on the road than they are at home.
Speaker 3 (53:42):
Never would I would have bet my job. Never would
have guessed that one.
Speaker 2 (53:45):
Never.
Speaker 4 (53:46):
From twenty twelve to twenty fourteen, the Seattle Seahawks were
twenty two and two at home, outscoring opponents by almost
fifteen points per game. Since the start of the twenty
twenty one season, oh so it is four years, I'm sorry.
Twenty one, twenty three, and twenty four the Seahawks are
sixteen and eighteen at.
Speaker 2 (54:05):
Home since twenty twenty one.
Speaker 3 (54:07):
I thought they had a great home field advantage, especially
because of weather up there.
Speaker 2 (54:11):
How about that?
Speaker 3 (54:11):
And it's so tough to get there. It's such a
long plane ride, it's a full process to get up there.
Speaker 2 (54:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (54:17):
Well, interesting piece on Fox sports dot com and something
to take into account when you're placing your wagers during
the regular season.
Speaker 3 (54:25):
True, absolutely true.
Speaker 4 (54:27):
But definitely a little note to keep in the back
pocket as well when you're thinking about the postseason. So
if you read this article like a hope field doesn't matter,
it sure doesn't crunch time, and I just.
Speaker 3 (54:36):
Read the headline, so I'm like, okay, I'll go with it.
Hopefield doesn't exist anymore. Let's go with that.
Speaker 2 (54:41):
Yeah, all right, it's already playing.
Speaker 4 (54:42):
We're in for Jason and Aaron tonight, so when we
come back, let's go all in on this. Last night,
Aaron and Arnie were sitting in for Jason Smith and
Mike Harmon here on Fox Sports Radio, and they had
a chance to talk with I think what is still
unique in the sports world, and that is an agent
for a current college athlete. That's there Shelby, who was
key in negotiating the biggest guaranteed deal we've seen in
(55:04):
the Revshare era, which, by the way, the Revshare era
is all of five days old.
Speaker 2 (55:08):
I thought it was.
Speaker 4 (55:10):
But it's fascinating. So we'll bring you some of the
highlights next right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (55:16):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to
listen live.
Speaker 2 (55:28):
All right, it's Aarny in Plank coming.
Speaker 4 (55:30):
Do you Live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. A
pretty good series of tweets here from Jason that I
want to hit it's stinking genius one. I'm at Plank Show,
Breeding East twenty six. Mary is on Twitter as well too.
Hold on, let me make sure I get Mary's right.
Speaker 2 (55:48):
What is it?
Speaker 4 (55:48):
Mary the board op yep on Twitter at of course
everybody go follow us at Fox Sports Radio. This is
back to the conversation about how the Lakers might structure things,
and then we got.
Speaker 3 (56:01):
Right they so they get trade Lebron.
Speaker 4 (56:04):
Jason wrightes the Walters Group didn't do anything groundbreaking, Arnie
with the otanivial. We just celebrated Bobby Bonia Day, which
is the ultimate example of deferred money. They just replicated it.
But the number of years isn't the same. That's all.
The Reds did it with Ken Griffy, that's how they
were able to afford him, and teams have also signed
(56:25):
players to personal service projects and deals after they retire
as part of the compensation, so it's not like the
Walters Group did something new. He also adds, I do
think people were surprised at the structure of the deal
since they are so deep pocketed.
Speaker 2 (56:41):
That's why people were shocked by it.
Speaker 3 (56:43):
Well, I thought they were shocked by it. Maybe it
was by the lump sum of it. Maybe that was
the reason why. Well, then maybe we were right. Then
maybe they could give Lebron rework his contract, give him
a one million dollars a year contract and backlowed the
other fifty million or whatever it is, or or something
like that, Chris, which makes it more palatable to trade
him if people are like, well why are you doing that?
(57:04):
That way a team could trade for Lebron without giving
back fifty two million dollars in salary, then all of
a sudden, a lot more teams could afford him.
Speaker 4 (57:13):
Right, But again, the rules are different in the NBA
than they are in the MLB.
Speaker 3 (57:17):
Oh my goodness, Well, I didn't study capology to work
with me, would you please.
Speaker 4 (57:23):
I don't know if they I don't know if it
would be in a situation because I mean, everyone now
I think when they have a bad contract. Oh and
I'm not saying Lebron's is it's a one year deal.
He's amazing. I want him to be happy and play
with the Lakers because I still think they're pretty good.
Speaker 2 (57:37):
Man. But everyone now is gonna be like Stretcher's contract
because Damian Lillard did it. And you look historically and.
Speaker 4 (57:44):
Stretching contracts right exactly like there's only like five guys
the teams have done it with.
Speaker 3 (57:49):
I would sink Lebron would do anything he can to
rework the contract. Is wherever he does want to go,
he doesn't want that team to give up a boatload
of players to the Lakers. He wants to keep him
with his new team.
Speaker 4 (58:00):
Well, but if you're the Lakers, are you gonna let
him go unless you get about load of players?
Speaker 2 (58:04):
You know what?
Speaker 3 (58:05):
I think they may. I think they're ready to say
the face of the team is Luca, Thank you, Lebron.
We want to move on from you. They're gonna move
on from him anyway after this year, so why not
do it sooner than later?
Speaker 2 (58:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (58:19):
I think the Laker, Uh, you're of him.
Speaker 2 (58:22):
I can't.
Speaker 4 (58:23):
I can't tell you how wrong you are. You're not
going to take a discount just to get him off
with the team.
Speaker 3 (58:28):
Let me ask you this, how much are they gonna
get for him after this year?
Speaker 2 (58:32):
Well, it doesn't matter. He's still retire after this.
Speaker 3 (58:36):
Year, right, Well, he's not gonna retire.
Speaker 2 (58:38):
He's gonna be forty two, isn't.
Speaker 3 (58:40):
He Yeah, he'll still go a couple more years. You think, Okay,
well first Lebron or Steph Curry.
Speaker 2 (58:49):
Uh, probably Lebron.
Speaker 4 (58:51):
I mean he's gonna he's gonna be let's see his
birthday is so he's turning forty one this season. Wow,
by the middle of the season, next year's gonna be
forty two and he's still play amazing ball. That's not
my point, but like, in my mind, your idea that
they would just sell them for a market like not
necessarily a fair market value to just get rid of him.
I mean, the Lakers don't have a lot of assets
(59:13):
they can go out and trade. They've got to get
something back for him. What do you make of the
proposed deals by guys like my man Bill Simmons, who
talked about a straight up deal with the Clippers for
Kawhi or a straight up deal with the Knicks for
Karl Anthony.
Speaker 3 (59:28):
Towns for for Lebron you're talking about.
Speaker 2 (59:32):
Or no, smush Parker, aren't he Like who the hell
were we talking about.
Speaker 3 (59:36):
I would not do that for Nick. I wouldn't give
up Karl Anthony Downs for Lebron. Forget about that one.
That's not going to happen. I'm I would not be
a Knicks fan if they did that, I'd be destroyed. No,
I can't do that at all. Forget about that. What
was the other one? Now? What was the second one?
Speaker 2 (59:54):
Kawhi Leonard?
Speaker 3 (59:56):
I wouldn't do that if I'm the Lakers, that's for
damn sure.
Speaker 2 (59:58):
If you're the Lakers, you wouldn't.
Speaker 3 (01:00:00):
No, I wouldn't want I don't want Kawhi Leonard on
my team, especially with all that uh load management bs
and that polony. And he's at the end of his career. Also, No,
I don't want him. I'm ready to move on after him.
Speaker 4 (01:00:14):
Then what if I'm the Lakers? Then what are you
going to get for him? I mean you're just talking
about not those are two marquee players.
Speaker 3 (01:00:24):
Wait can I Can I get Yannis somehow for Lebron? No?
Not for Lebron just like wait till he's like a
free agent. Or can I give up a gazillion draft
picks together him or something? I need to work something
out to get Lebron. Wait wait, hold on here, let
me tell Yanna's excuse me, y.
Speaker 2 (01:00:40):
Let me back up a little bit here. You told
me you think Yanni stinks. You don't.
Speaker 3 (01:00:46):
I don't want to. I don't want him from in
New York. But if I'm the Lakers, I want him
especially going to be after this year.
Speaker 2 (01:00:53):
You don't have anything to trade Reeves.
Speaker 3 (01:00:55):
I could throw that in there.
Speaker 4 (01:00:57):
I love Austin Reeves, he's a sooner. But you're telling
me that you're gonna somehow work a deal with Austin
Reeves to Milwaukee for Giannis.
Speaker 3 (01:01:04):
Oh, throwing a couple other pieces to the puzzle and
a bunch of draft picks.
Speaker 4 (01:01:09):
I think I think Lebron. I think Lebron's gonna get moved.
I don't think it's gonna be a blockbuster deal. But
I don't think the Lakers are gonna do it Lucas style,
where they take some sort of rebated trade to get
him where he wants to go. Like if he goes
to let's say it's Golden State, you're gonna want Jimmy
Butler in return.
Speaker 2 (01:01:27):
You just can't trade Lebron.
Speaker 4 (01:01:28):
It's like, well, you know, we want to make him happy,
so we'll take I don't know, it's Keevon Lune even
still there.
Speaker 2 (01:01:33):
We'll take your scrubs, right. It brings your scrubs.
Speaker 3 (01:01:36):
It's just I don't what about Dave Millard? Do you
go have to because you don't have to pay Lillard anything, right,
it's all coming from Milwaukee. You don't have to pay
that guy.
Speaker 2 (01:01:46):
Squad Well.
Speaker 4 (01:01:46):
I mean, I'm sure he's gonna want a new deal
when he's not just gonna come to you for free
with what he's making from Milwaukee.
Speaker 3 (01:01:52):
I mean that's not.
Speaker 4 (01:01:54):
Stretched out, you know, over what, five seven years, whatever
it is. I mean, he's he's gonna still want to
get paid, and.
Speaker 2 (01:01:59):
I think teams are going to pay him.
Speaker 4 (01:02:01):
Hey, he'd be a low risk, high potential ceiling pickup
for like Indiana or Boston, who seemed to be kind
of mailing it in this season.
Speaker 3 (01:02:09):
Right, I've heard the Boston rumors. I've seen that before,
and I've also heard Golden State rumors that he would
maybe go there.
Speaker 4 (01:02:17):
So let me just get this straight before we bring
to saga in here for the latest. You think the
Lakers are not only going to move on from Lebron,
but do it like a discounted rate just to get
rid of him.
Speaker 3 (01:02:27):
I think they are going to move Lebron. I don't
think he's ever going to play for the Lakers again,
they won't even become close to get full market value.
And I believe thy years old, and I believe they
are going to take a discount or whatever you want
to call it and just be done with it and
move on from him.
Speaker 2 (01:02:44):
All right, it's alread even playing here on Fox Sports.
Speaker 3 (01:02:46):
He's going to be right about that. By the way,
I am going to be right.
Speaker 2 (01:02:48):
Just like you're right about everything. I am pretty much right.
I am pretty much ladies and gentlemen.
Speaker 4 (01:02:52):
Steve the Sager is in the house to get us
caught up on everything that's trending in the world of sports.
Speaker 2 (01:02:56):
On a busy night for baseball. What's going on?
Speaker 7 (01:02:58):
Steve, Hello again, and I'm glad you brought out the
Mark Walter purchase of the Lakers, because unfortunately some people,
as soon as they heard the name, say, oh, he'll
do just for the Lakers. Two different sports people. One
does not have a salary cap baseball. Therefore you can
defer whatever. There's no way you could defer money like
that in the in the NQU not a chance.
Speaker 3 (01:03:19):
Oh you wait and see, you wait and see the
Sager all.
Speaker 7 (01:03:22):
Right, and how is he going to get the votes
to do that.
Speaker 3 (01:03:25):
Oh, I don't want to bore everybody right now, I'll
get to that.
Speaker 7 (01:03:29):
I will say an advantage of having a deep pockets
owner like that is the off the field stuff, because
Dodger Stadium, for example, is going nowhere. But that's a
nineteen sixty two building and it's still great because every
off season they're doing something. And this past off season
the Dodgers, and this is how much money they have,
they had they had so much construction to do that
(01:03:53):
you could actually say that they hired essentially two different
crews to not paying them double time, but getting a
lot of work done. In one off season, they took
the entire infield off the field because they needed to
do construction underneath the baseball field, and then they put
a whole new baseball field back on top after the construction.
Speaker 3 (01:04:15):
Was like, you got to go to Dodger Stadium. What's
wrong with you? Man? I know you've never been there.
Speaker 2 (01:04:18):
What's we do?
Speaker 7 (01:04:21):
Have a final on FS one Seattle one, nothing over
the Pirates Pittsburgh on the road twelve and thirty one
this year. Meanwhile, the Rangers are seven to four leaders
at San Diego with two outs in the bottom of
the ninth, padres with two to on. The Giants still
lead seven to two at the A's that's in the
top of the ninth, so we're close to everything being final.
Detroit won again one nothing at Cleveland. The Guardians have
(01:04:43):
lost nine straight. Houston beat the Dodgers in LA six'
four saved To josh Hater metz sent The yankees to
a sixth straight, loss twelve to, six And toronto won
at seventh straight game and eleven inning win over The
angels for to. Three cardinals won at The cubs eight
to in THE wnba two games. Tonight minnesota is now
sixteen and two after beating Expansion Golden state eighty two seventy,
(01:05:07):
one AND la was a winner At indiana eighty nine eighty.
Seven Kelsey, plum now WITH la in her career against The,
fever has a record of twenty one and. One Caitlin
clark missed a fifth straight game tonight with the groin.
Injury she still hadn't gone full speed in. Practice by the,
Way clark and THE Fisa collier were named The All
Star game. Captains the rest of the starters were named Last.
(01:05:28):
Monday ninth best player was not according to the voting. Players,
no she's they voted her the ninth best. Guard let's
make her. Captain holy. Cow Rookie pagebeckers will start in
The All Star game along With Asia wilson and Others
Brianna Stewart Sabrina. Yescu indianapolis will be hosting the W
(01:05:49):
Nba All Star Game july the. Nineteenth back to.
Speaker 4 (01:05:52):
You Thanks, Steve. Bob that's going to be a rock and.
Party all, right It'sarti Plank Fox Sports. Radio last, Night
arnie And aaron had a chance to catch up WITH
i think one of the biggest non player names in
the college football world right. Now That's Derek, shelby who
Is Felix ojo's. Agent now again there's a lot of
(01:06:16):
agents speaking, here But, arnie what was some of your
big takeaways for the man who negotiated one of the
first multi year guaranteed contracts in his very short sample
size of the revshare.
Speaker 3 (01:06:27):
ERA i was surprised how open and honest he was
through the whole process and what the process, was and
how many teams were going through, that and how exactly
it turned, out how he got the money and just you,
know open taking us behind the curtain and letting us
see exactly what was going on and how they figured things.
Speaker 4 (01:06:47):
OUT i, think, WELL i, mean and again THERE i
have no reason to doubt. HIM i think he sounded
awesome and very. Honest but there is you, know how
much of it can you? Say is all? Right he
signed With Texas, tech And Texas tech gave him this,
money so there's going to be a little bit more
of a shiny view Towards.
Speaker 3 (01:07:04):
West, texas right of, course of.
Speaker 4 (01:07:06):
Course but you asked him if he got financial offers from.
Speaker 2 (01:07:10):
All what was? It seventy of the? Schools, yes For.
Ojoe here's here's what his agent.
Speaker 5 (01:07:17):
Said you, know good, question, though you don't take offers from.
SEVENTY i told him when he got to like sixty
five or whatever, was they may need to cut this,
down you. Know SO i honestly waited from to cut
it down to like five to seven. Schools and, honestly
when he cut it down the five to seven, Schools
Texas tech waiting on that, list, right you, know so
(01:07:40):
there notre dame everybody from the, list, right But Texas
tech was not on that. List AND i had seen
you know that he went on a couple of other
visits that were not on that. List you, know he
went To, colorado he went to another, school but, hey,
man you need to go To. Lubbock and we see
it Because lock had been calling me And tech has
been calling, me, like, man we would love to have
(01:08:01):
a shot At, pojo you, know and a lot of people,
realize you, KNOW i Represent Nigerie, kennedy The All american
softball with the picture At Texas tech right, right of,
course you, know SO i had a relationship, there and
so they were calling me and, say, hey can the
kid come.
Speaker 4 (01:08:15):
Out by the, WAY i like you saying, yeah, yeah
of course you had no idea that he Represented nija
cannedy talking about Her kennedy whenever you texted.
Speaker 3 (01:08:23):
ME i didn't know that he was the agent to,
her BUT i knew who she. WAS i thought that.
Speaker 5 (01:08:29):
At least see what we. Have and we've done, that
and a lot of people don't. REALIZE i, Mean tech
just invests about two hundred and fifty million in their football.
Facility it's top THREE am In. America it's. Unbelievable AND
i think once the kid gets there and see what
they had, it they were really very. Impressed now keeping
not mine for sixty five to seventy scholarship off versus
second offic he ever got Was Texas. Tech they were
(01:08:52):
off for number. Two, wow they've been they would have
been there, early you, know and they just stuck with
it and he just kept. Going didn't get a shot
at the.
Speaker 2 (01:08:59):
Kid, Now, okay first of, all, YEAH i have a
little bit of a problem with.
Speaker 4 (01:09:02):
That you, know here's a kid that's getting offers From Notre, Dame, Texas, Oklahoma, Georgia,
alabama and out of, nowhere you have this. Agent it's, like, hey,
buddy take a look At Texas. Tech didn't that seem
a little fishy to?
Speaker 3 (01:09:16):
You, well as he, explained they had THE i forgot their.
Names the two guys that are in the oil and.
Speaker 4 (01:09:22):
Gas, yeah, yeah, oh trust, me we all know about
The Campbell, yeah absolutely.
Speaker 3 (01:09:26):
Right SO i guess their pockets are are pretty very. Fat,
yeah and that's. IT i was surprised that he said
that The Texas tech wasn't part of the five or
seven on the short, list but somehow they went out the,
Bidding SO i was surprised on how that.
Speaker 2 (01:09:41):
Worked, well, yeah he just basically said. It, yeah they're
paying the most. Money yes they, Did, yes which fattens
his pockets.
Speaker 4 (01:09:49):
Too SO i mean on that front, again great, interview
seems like a great, Dude BUT i mean to trying
to sit there and make it seem like What Texas
tech has done facility, wise is any better than what
he would get At Notre Dame georgia Or. Alabama, Bro
just come out and be honest about. It it was
(01:10:11):
the best money deal that he.
Speaker 3 (01:10:12):
Had he did say, that he said it was the
most money out of all.
Speaker 2 (01:10:15):
The, schools, Right but, no here's my. Point he's shaping
it up.
Speaker 3 (01:10:19):
Early.
Speaker 4 (01:10:20):
Honest hey, man you need to go take a look
At Texas tech because of what they've done with their.
Speaker 3 (01:10:23):
Facilities really for your bullloorder. Money that's why yell check.
Speaker 2 (01:10:29):
It here was two other.
Speaker 4 (01:10:30):
Cuts this is available right now not only on our YouTube,
page but also you can find it on the podcast.
Page from last night's, Program aren't you asked a very
good question where does this money come? From because we're
in a revshare era, now but there still is an
nil element to. It so where's all this money coming?
Speaker 5 (01:10:47):
From, well this is part of the rep share, Right
so the New house, settlement the repshare, age school gets
about twenty point five million that they can, spend and
they spend that money percentage why based on sports and
football always just the most every single rule For chuba
will be based about, football period because that's what carries, everybody,
(01:11:08):
right you. Know so this is A rep share. Deal
now Spree house settlement the numbers coming from you, know
the donors and the you, know different sponsors and all.
That now you can still you will still get, that.
Speaker 2 (01:11:20):
Right but but the.
Speaker 5 (01:11:22):
New house settlement rule anything over six hundred dollars reported
and approved BY, deblte WHICH i don't know how they're
gonna do that have on thousands and thousands of kids playing.
Sports how they GET i got the time to approve
a six hundred dollars. Deal but this is A rep share,
deal so this comes out of. That so that just
speaks more highly because this is basically thirteen to fifteen
percent of that WHOLE rep share that they're getting on one, kid,
(01:11:45):
right so they have to make sure it's the right
type of.
Speaker 4 (01:11:47):
Kid seeing, that, dude that is A that's Where i'm
looking at this and saying that is a large percentage
of YOUR rep share that you're putting on, one, dude.
Speaker 3 (01:11:58):
They must have really wanted them RES i can see. That, wow.
Speaker 4 (01:12:03):
Or they have found a way to circumvent it to
where oh, yeah this sounds, good but that money. Deloitteh so,
far there hasn't been any problems with the approval of nil.
Deals and, Listen Derek shelby is one hundred percent justified
in questioning how that's gonna work, out BECAUSE i think
we all are wondering how that's gonna work?
Speaker 2 (01:12:25):
Out all, right one more quick one before we got
out of.
Speaker 4 (01:12:27):
Here AND i, think, Honestly, arnie this might have been
what caught your attention more than anything, else because the
overriding question, is, okay, well how does this play out
in the? End how does this play? Out what does
this really? Mean is this gonna be the path that
most teams take to where they just you, know maybe
it's multi year contracts for, players maybe it's overspending like.
This what is the end game for a team Like Texas?
(01:12:49):
Tech and how do you think it's going to play
out In West? Texas BECAUSE i, think bottom, line more
than anything, else the oil, barons if you, will are
not doing this just for this sake of making sure
that these young men and women have money in their, pockets,
right they want to.
Speaker 2 (01:13:05):
Win listen to. This i'll tell you this right.
Speaker 5 (01:13:08):
Now Texas tech will make The College Football playoff this.
Year oh, wow and they will be a top four.
Speaker 3 (01:13:17):
Seed wow?
Speaker 5 (01:13:19):
Good, yeah, Yeah Texas tech has brought in some of
their portal class coming in is off the. Charts Texas
tech is blinning a dynasty right in front of our,
eyes and people are starting to pay attention to.
Speaker 4 (01:13:32):
It well, again we'll see how it works out in
the long. Run ARE i looked?
Speaker 3 (01:13:36):
Up they have like twenty one returning?
Speaker 2 (01:13:39):
Starters, yeah they got a good looking. Rost they really.
Speaker 4 (01:13:42):
Is that's, scary and it's also in your Beloved big
twelve right, now so we'll say they're going to be
a top four.
Speaker 2 (01:13:48):
Seed it's a great possibility if you win The Big.
Speaker 4 (01:13:50):
Twelve but remember we're doing straight seeding this, year so
you don't get that top four seed if they just
win the conference.
Speaker 2 (01:13:58):
Championship. Right? Takeaways what was your biggest take away from?
Speaker 3 (01:14:00):
It my biggest takeaway is we're certainly going to that
way now where there's gonna be guaranteed. Deals this is
the new way of college. Sports especially high school. KIDS
i THINK i thought it was just gonna be. Football
but you know WHEN i hear them talk about the
softball program and other, stuff and we knew That Texas
tech was building a pretty good softball. Program this is
(01:14:21):
the wave of the. Future you're seeing it right. Now
this one. Deal it's just gonna be more and more
from here on. Out kids are gonna want guaranteed money
and this is this is what it's gonna lead. To
that's WHAT i took away from.
Speaker 4 (01:14:34):
IT i, think though there's an asterisk in caveat to,
IT i don't think it's. EVERYWHERE i don't think you're
going to see this In alabama Or. OKLAHOMA i don't
think you're gonna see this At tennessee Or. TEXAS i
think this is going to be a ploy that you're
going to see a lot at schools that are really
trying to show that they belong among the elite And
texas Text. Unity they got all the, money you know
(01:14:54):
they do you're talking about and we'll find a way
to see if they can work around the andile. Restrictions
but this man is a billionaire like five times, over
so it's not like he's gonna be losing money on
this fascinating.
Speaker 2 (01:15:08):
Stuff you can.
Speaker 4 (01:15:08):
Hear the whole interview right now on our podcast. Page
simply Search Fox Sports radio however you consume, podcast or

here On Fox Sports radio On saturday. Night so we
(01:15:31):
got a little deep on The Derek shelby conversation from last,
night which is.
Speaker 2 (01:15:35):
Great but what you got For, STEVE.
Speaker 7 (01:15:37):
I will repeat WHAT i said last. Night it was
a great, interview and as objectively AS i can, say
IF i was just driving, around had no connection to
this show or network, WHATSOEVER i absolutely would have been.
Speaker 2 (01:15:48):
Enthralled it was really good, stuff very. Good i'm very intriguing, perspective.
Speaker 7 (01:15:52):
And HONEST i think that's an odd thing to say
about an, agent quite, frankly but it was really.
Speaker 4 (01:15:59):
Good Infrom, NO i still, say come, on, Dude we're, like,
hey you need to come check out these. Facilities, no
check out The green off a little.
Speaker 7 (01:16:10):
Bit speaking of The, green we've GOT nba first rounders
who are going to be cashing in And we're in
The Summer league openers, tonight which we'll get to in a,
moment BUT i want to make sure to mention That
i'm glad you brought it out early in the show

And Bobby jenks passed.
Speaker 3 (01:17:06):
As Azie gehan put out a picture of them playing
golf a couple of years, ago and his former, manager,
yeah they were really good, friends close.
Speaker 7 (01:17:14):
Friends one of The White sox fans had a, great
great idea online is the next time they get off
this road trip and go back, home the first time
A White sox manager has to go to the, bullpen
make the same gesture that he used to, make That
gien used to make to bring the big guy into the,
bullpen and then have the gate open and nobody comes
(01:17:37):
in and the fans just stand and cheer For Bobby.
Jenks somebody In chicago get on. That that's a great.

Speaker 4 (01:22:44):
Was i'll tell you, WHAT i don't remember watching a
lot OF. Vj edgecombe during. COLLEGE i don't know. Why,
man he looked awesome. Tonight he had twenty eight points
at auble double for the Six, ers though they lost
to The jazz in THE. Uh and this is the orlandoge,
right and then next week is the start of The.
Speaker 2 (01:23:03):
Vegas.
Speaker 3 (01:23:03):
Right The vegas is the big, one and that that's
gonna be starting On Oh, utah.
Speaker 2 (01:23:06):
Thank you For. Utah Not. Orlando did the. THUNDERWIN i
fell asleep during the.
Speaker 3 (01:23:11):
GAME i don't. Know yeah it.
Speaker 4 (01:23:14):
Was it was one of those to WHERE i was
all excited About nicolo topic making his debut to see,
him and THEN i know how some people will react
if they win this, Game so like, SEE i told, you,
no they lost ninety two to.
Speaker 3 (01:23:24):
Eighty we may have to go back to like six
games of preseason football and start up. Now if it's
gonna be this this slow during the sports, calendar that's for, Sure.
Speaker 4 (01:23:33):
Dalton connect had double digits for The lakers tonight and
their loss to The Golden State.
Speaker 2 (01:23:38):
Warriors they haven't trained him. AGAIN i thought he was
gonna get traded.
Speaker 4 (01:23:41):
Again all, Right, alartie let's hit some tweets here At
Stinking Genius.
Speaker 2 (01:23:45):
One i'm At Plank. Show everybody go follow.
Speaker 4 (01:23:47):
Us At Fox Sports, Radio douglas checked in and SAID
i couldn't give a damn about college sports or the,
nil but the interview With Derek shelby had my ears
glued to what he was.
Speaker 3 (01:23:57):
Saying, YEAH i was hoping that it wasn't gonna be too.
MUCH i know you liked the interview better THAN i,
did to be honest with, you you that was right
up your. ALLEY i think there's a lot of, people
especially in the college, towns wanted to hear that and
what does that mean for their? Team and how can
they go ahead and offer money to the big time.
ATHLETES i think you brought up a good, Point. Chris
(01:24:18):
the schools that are Not alabama And georgia And oklahoma
and on a notre, damon on and on are gonna
have to be creative because they, can't you, know fight those.
Schools so the only way they can even up to
scale here is to maybe offer them a three year
guarantee and then maybe they have a chance of getting
some of these big time.
Speaker 4 (01:24:36):
Athletes and, then you, know it is interesting because Again
i'm not trying to dump on, anyone but when you
peel back and you see some of the, reporting it's
not truly a five million dollar deal.
Speaker 3 (01:24:50):
That, yeah didn't come. OUT i was trying to do
the math on. That the math wasn't, math and WHEN
i took a look at, that, right.
Speaker 4 (01:24:56):
According To Matt, sentence who covers FOR Cb, sports he,
said it's a three year deal averaging seven hundred and
seventy five thousand a, year with a verbal understanding that
tech will renegotiate up to five million if things shift
back to the Wild west setup that we probably won't
(01:25:16):
be in for at least five more. Years they're going
to give this house, settlement the new era of THE
csc every opportunity to.
Speaker 2 (01:25:25):
Succeed, SO i, mean don't get me. WRONG a three
year guaranteed deal is.
Speaker 4 (01:25:29):
Great it's two point three million, dollars it's a large
percentage of YOUR rev, Share BUT i mean it's a
verbal agreement That, hey we'll renegotiate it up to five million.
Dollars if The nile money goes back to a little
bit of, craziness.
Speaker 3 (01:25:41):
What does this help? Out is it like the schools
Like oregon And Oklahoma state and places like, that or,
no those days are all what the rev share or
the guaranteed money and having somebody financially backing them like,
that like these two guys did At Texas.
Speaker 2 (01:25:58):
Tech, WELL i, mean you can't just give. Money, yeah you're, Right,
YEAH i mean that's supposed to be the, rule, Right
so in other, words.
Speaker 3 (01:26:07):
But they got to be doing, Something, chris they got
to be you, know there's got to be assum shenanigans going.
ON i guess for a lack of well.
Speaker 4 (01:26:14):
You're if it, is you're supposed to get in trouble
and they're supposed to BE i, Mean i'm being dead,
serious trying to be, smarmy but that's the whole.
Speaker 2 (01:26:21):
Thing and listen.
Speaker 4 (01:26:23):
It it doesn't really pay to follow the rules in college.
SPORTS i, mean it really doesn't. Anymore michigan won a
freaking national. Championship were you recruiting this, guy The ojo?
Guy everyone, Was he's a five star offensive tackle. Man
these Aren't these aren't just out on you know. Trees
these are special. Special, look there is not a lot
of five star offensive, tackles so, obviously and this is
(01:26:45):
a twenty six guy that a lot of people were in.
ON i, mean what do you, say seventy?
Speaker 3 (01:26:49):
Offers you would think that you would spend that money
on a quarterback or you, know that type of physician.
Speaker 2 (01:26:55):
They really wanted to.
Speaker 4 (01:26:56):
SEE i wonder about the locker room side of, this
AND i brought this up whenever bre AND i talked
about it last. Night you gotta have a pretty good
coach and a really GOOD gm whenever you're looking at,
hey you're bringing in this guy that is reportedly making five.
Mil but, Again matthew math and on the numbers that
are out, there And i'm guaranteeing you he's probably the
highest paid offensive lineman on that.
Speaker 3 (01:27:18):
Roster but he just turned seventeen yesterday.
Speaker 4 (01:27:21):
Exactly but then there is the other side Where Texas
tech did do a lot of cramming in a lot
of front loaded money before the, settlement and it hit.
Speaker 3 (01:27:31):
WELL i was gonna, say what does this mean about the? Future?
Now every big time matthe he's gonna, say, okay let's
start With Texas. Tech they have money for. Him let's
see how much money they got for me.
Speaker 2 (01:27:40):
Now but, again, yeah in this era of a rev,
share well they and they got the softball Player.
Speaker 3 (01:27:47):
KENNEDY i, mean she's getting a million dollars.
Speaker 2 (01:27:49):
Again but that was before the rev share, hit.
Speaker 4 (01:27:51):
Right you, know they even crammed in the second year
for a deal and all the players that they brought
in before the rev share. Hit so and the percentage
for softball is really, Small so it's gonna be fascinating
to see how they work around.
Speaker 2 (01:28:01):
It and then, again if you're.
Speaker 4 (01:28:04):
In that world where you're truly doing, authentic genuine, nil
how are you making that money look legal to that
clearing house you've gone away over My, SORRY i SOME nba,
Stuff Julian, Wrights i'm A laker. Fan Take, lebron take
him for. Free i'll Take Jimmy butler seven. Days god's
(01:28:25):
What i'm talking.
Speaker 3 (01:28:26):
ABOUT i don't know what you think you're expecting back
From Lebron, james and how you think you're gonna get
a king's.
Speaker 4 (01:28:32):
RANSOM i don't think you're gonna get a king's. RANSOM
i just don't think you're giving him.
Speaker 3 (01:28:35):
Away doesn't? Basketball is that too?
Speaker 4 (01:28:38):
Much, yeah that's a little bit too. MUCH i think
let's get it down to. Six got to make the
deal a little bit. Better Colin colin writes The lakers
new ownership group feels intended to move on from The lebrama.
Era he's forty one in the final year of his.
Contract so would you not just want to get what
you can and have him out of the.
Speaker 3 (01:29:00):
Building, yes, exactly what, again perfect, Tweet exactly HOW i.
Feel you have a new, owner you have a new
superstar In. Luca, Goodbye. Lebron let's get you off the.
Books WHATEVER i gotta. Do IF i gotta pay it for,
whatever and somebody pays you, less so be.
Speaker 2 (01:29:17):
It.
Speaker 3 (01:29:18):
NOW i get another roster, Spot i'll figure out a
way to get A Dame lillard type or something to that,
effect and we'll start the rebuild process right off the.
BAT i think too Many laker fans are so Anti
lebron that it behooves them to get rid of him
now and kind of start the rebuilding process.
Speaker 2 (01:29:37):
Immediately, well let's go through the process here real. Quick
what they were the three seed in the Freaking west
but why do you say they need to Re why
are people saying this and, oh there were so many
spots out of The, senate everyone was in The.
Speaker 4 (01:29:50):
West are people saying the same thing About Golden state right? Now,
no The lakers were a better team than. THEM i
don't get this. TALK i understand they don't have a
roster like The, thunder but you have a superstar In
Luka doncic who has been a thorn in the ass
of The Oklahoma City thunder ever since he came in the.
Speaker 2 (01:30:06):
League, like what are we talking.
Speaker 3 (01:30:08):
About we're talking about that The lakers are probably more
closer to not being a playoff team than they are
to winning a. Championship that's WHAT i.
Speaker 2 (01:30:15):
Think it's.
Speaker 3 (01:30:17):
Incorrect, no that's not. Incorrect that's that's not incorrect at.
Speaker 2 (01:30:20):
All especially they won't talking about they were in The
thegoffs easily as the three seed this, year and then
we had half a season With luke And lebron and
now we're acting like they're the FREAKING i don't, Know
San Antonio. Spurs you know you could be.
Speaker 3 (01:30:34):
Right let me get our trustee Producer brianna on. This,
brianna could you look to see how The lakers did
against The Minnesota timberwolves in the first, round and then
report back to me and let me know how close
they were winning THE Nba.
Speaker 4 (01:30:49):
Champs, yea at least we're not down climbing billboards and
lighting fires for making The Eastern Conference.
Speaker 2 (01:30:54):
Finals we have higher expectations than.
Speaker 4 (01:30:56):
That we don't have dope saying that you have the
greatest dick of all time In Jalen brunson because he
got you to The Eastern Conference.
Speaker 2 (01:31:03):
Finals only get your. Asking we.
Speaker 3 (01:31:05):
Fight we fired our coach because we didn't go to
THE Nba. Chashship but this.
Speaker 4 (01:31:09):
Talk that somehow The lakers are just abysmal is ridiculous
to me right. Now why because they they had a
terrible matchup with The Tea, wolves because Suddenly Rudy gobert looked.
Amazing so because they lost in the first, round are
they just supposed to bun on? Everything this makes no
sense to. Me there is not punted on. Everything you're
punting On.
Speaker 3 (01:31:28):
Lebron it's the changing of the, Guard, Chris it's time
to move. On you have another superstar In. Luca luca
it's his team, now and now you start building Around
luca not Around.
Speaker 2 (01:31:38):
Lebron, okay well here you. Go lebron has a no trade.
Clause you're.
Speaker 3 (01:31:42):
Ready that's not worth. It that's like a pre numb
not worth the. Papers it absolutely is worth.
Speaker 4 (01:31:48):
Something you Saw Kevin durant use it his advantage to
end up In. Houston cleveland has said that they're not.
Interested according To Kurt healing The knicks makes for good,
chatter but, no says To bondi Of The New York,
post and he checked in on the rumor could he
reunite With Kyrie irving And Anthony davis at The. Mavericks
david mcminnimon was, told, quote they would only be interested
(01:32:10):
In lebron in a buyout.
Speaker 3 (01:32:12):
Situation SO i actually you approven my. Point you say
you want to get maximum back for.
Speaker 2 (01:32:18):
N so you're not gonna put on.
Speaker 3 (01:32:20):
Him there's no market For lebron right. Now none of
these teams want to give up anything to get this.
Guy so there's nobody's gonna.
Speaker 4 (01:32:30):
Know the three teams that everyone talks about aren't willing
right right.
Speaker 3 (01:32:35):
Exactly they're, like, no the hell with, it, man.
Speaker 2 (01:32:37):
We don't we're, Not so why would you get rid of? Them?
Speaker 4 (01:32:40):
Why why is any situation you're gonna go suddenly play
For Golden, State they're gonna have to give up a
good player to get.
Speaker 3 (01:32:46):
IT i want TO i want to get rid of
him because, again and you're gonna yellow. ME i want
the rebuilding to start With. Luca but you just you're
not gonna get anything for. Him that's what you just,
said right, Bro i'm gonna get that roster. Spot i'll
figure out.
Speaker 2 (01:32:58):
Way what what could be better for The lakers right
now Than Lebron james in that roster spot?
Speaker 3 (01:33:04):
Already well maybe player, wise but attitude, wise you sumply
could get an upgrade, there that's for damn. Sure and
by the, Way, chris you're you're forgetting that seventy five
percent of your fan base doesn't Like, lebron so.
Speaker 2 (01:33:18):
You got to seventy of the fan base is. DUMB
i just like it the. WAY i don't Like lebron,
Either but they're a hell of a lot better of
a basketball team in that makeup for twenty five twenty
six With Lebron james in there than they are with
him now in.
Speaker 3 (01:33:35):
There and by the, way how are you gonna like
that attitude Of lebron's the first time they come out
of the gate and they're two and four or something like,
that and he starts pointing fingers, like, well you, know
we got new owners and they didn't want to make any,
moves and, YadA, YadA YadA and all that, stuff because
you know that's just right around the.
Speaker 4 (01:33:52):
CORNER jp shifts the focus. Here forget about the competitive drinking. Contest.
Guys remember the guy last year who was barfing at
The Nathan's lemonade?
Speaker 2 (01:34:02):
Contest?
Speaker 3 (01:34:03):
Oh, YEAH i remember that guy that was too much
lemonade for. Him here Here's.
Speaker 4 (01:34:08):
Jerry jerry, Writes mets went over The, Yankees houston, drubs The. Dodgers,
guys Any All star snubs are potential reserves that caught your.
Speaker 3 (01:34:18):
Eye are you getting ready for The All STAR i
Think covino And rich are going down To atlanta for
The All Star. Game they're gonna go ahead and be down.
There why why are they going to be at the?
Game it's The All Star?
Speaker 2 (01:34:31):
Game WELL i know, That but are they baseball? Guys?
Speaker 3 (01:34:35):
YEAH i think?
Speaker 2 (01:34:35):
So, okay all? Right fair? Enough THEN i thought that
would be like A Rob parker. Thing isn't he r?
Speaker 3 (01:34:39):
Baseball he may he may end up going. Too, yeah
he may end up there.
Speaker 2 (01:34:43):
TOO i didn't know.
Speaker 4 (01:34:44):
THAT i didn't know there were baseball. DUDES i couldn't
care less about The All Star. Game i've not a
one eighty Year, no IT'S i think it sucks Mase
ball's run. It they really have get back to letting
them wear their own. Jerseys i'm an old man right my.
Speaker 3 (01:35:00):
Lawn absolutely half the.
Speaker 4 (01:35:01):
Time they'll announce a guy that's starting for The orioles
And i've never heard of him before in my. Life
here from The, Brewers Tommy hanner. Hand you, Know i'm googling,
up like what's his? Record SO i can't stand The
All star, break and it seems like it gets longer
every single. YEAR i used to love, It. Arnie it
was the most anticipated week.
Speaker 3 (01:35:19):
On the schedule as a young base and then you'd
worry about the what the day. Before in the day,
after it was only two days that you would have
no sports on the. Docket, Yeah AND i was LIKE i.
Speaker 4 (01:35:29):
Was in my early damn, teens TW i didn't care about.
THAT i was, like let them messed, up get ready
for the second half. Season because there Was, monday the
game was On. Tuesday they got a day Off, wednesday
and you'd start playing On. Thursday that's and we liked.
IT i think The All Star, Game i'll watch the
announcement of the starting.
Speaker 2 (01:35:45):
Lineups they'll pay tribute TO i don't, know probably the
it's In atlanta this.
Speaker 4 (01:35:50):
Year he, said, yeah, SEE i didn't even know that
they'll pay they'll pay a tribute to and then obviously
there'll be something for The braves, great which will always
be well to. See and then you play a baseball
game where everyone can't wait for it to be.
Speaker 3 (01:36:04):
OVER i EVEN.
Speaker 4 (01:36:08):
I even liked it better Whenever fox like this time
it counts LIKE i kind of like.
Speaker 2 (01:36:12):
That that was. Something but you're a Big All Star game, guy.
Speaker 3 (01:36:15):
So you know back in the, day like When fernando
was out there and you, know you see these pictures
and to strike it, out what was it five or
six or something like. THAT i, mean those were the
great days of The All Star. Game you're not you're
not having that. Anymore it's no far and few between those. Days,
YEAH i.
Speaker 4 (01:36:34):
Remember but then let me be old, man get off
my lawn one more time before we hit two more
texts and grab a.
Speaker 2 (01:36:41):
Break you also didn't see these guys play against each.
Speaker 3 (01:36:44):
Other, no that takes away a little.
Speaker 4 (01:36:47):
Bit, also you're right about nineteen ninety, seven and then
that sounded wild to. See that's how long interleague play
was going.
Speaker 2 (01:36:52):
On why do we?
Speaker 4 (01:36:53):
PLAY i was watching The Subway. SERIES i was watching
The mets and The, yankees which has been a fun.
SERIES i was watching it on fourth Of july and
they popped up the graphic and it was who hit
the first home run in the first Ever Subway series
game in nineteen ninety. SEVEN i was, like, what it's
been that, long and we've Been we've been having interleague
(01:37:14):
play for twenty eight.
Speaker 2 (01:37:15):
Years do you know the answer to that?
Speaker 3 (01:37:16):
Question by the, way, NO i was just thinking about.
That who what's the? Answer Bernard? Guilty, OH i wouldn't
have guessed that he could.
Speaker 4 (01:37:23):
Have sat here all, night former? Cardinal did it look at?
That by the, way to other quick ones here real
quick nature. Boy back to The laker, conversation. RIGHT i
was A laker fan Until lebron's hypocrisy came to. Town
it's not the same, anymore and it got so BAD
i became A clippers.
Speaker 2 (01:37:41):
Fan no.
Speaker 4 (01:37:42):
REGRETS i would rather retire Smush parker's jersey Before lebron's,
well there you.
Speaker 3 (01:37:47):
Go that that's why Iron there you.
Speaker 4 (01:37:50):
Go and Then gunny Says, Arnie arnie With shay and
THE nhl just basically Said i'm gonna get in there
and make this about.
Speaker 3 (01:37:58):
Me, yes that's exactly what it's.
Speaker 2 (01:38:01):
About, man is My gunny.
Speaker 4 (01:38:02):
Nose that's my personal favorite meme where the guy is
staring in the mirror and he's got his finger pointing
at the mirror and he's, like now you go out
there and you make this about.
Speaker 2 (01:38:10):
Yourself that's exactly What arnie's gonna. Do all.
Speaker 4 (01:38:14):
Right speaking Of Arnie, spaniel we haven't had a chance
to get his reaction to his new head, Coach, yes
who hasn't even been announced by his. ORGANIZATION i thought
MAYBE i missed.
Speaker 2 (01:38:25):
IT i.
Speaker 4 (01:38:26):
Wasn't it hasn't happened. Yet we'll dive into it next
right here On Fox Sports.
Speaker 1 (01:38:30):
Radio Fox Sports radio has the best sports talk lineup
in the. Nation catch all of our shows at Foxsports
radio dot com and within The iHeartRadio app SEARCH fsr
to listen.
Speaker 2 (01:38:42):
Live All, right.
Speaker 4 (01:38:46):
Welcome INTO I keep Forgetting wich. Show we're filling in
For jason And aaron here A Fox Sports. Radio see
last night you were in For jason And. Mike tonight
went For Jason martin And aaron Torres.
Speaker 3 (01:39:00):
Us, yeah we've.
Speaker 2 (01:39:01):
Got our own. Show that will be. Right, yes some more,
tweets you get to it a.
Speaker 4 (01:39:05):
Bit But, arnie we are two hours and twenty seven
minutes into this very radio, program AND i haven't asked
you about your legend new coach And Mike.
Speaker 2 (01:39:16):
Brown what you think a couple things on.
Speaker 3 (01:39:19):
This first of, ALL i always told you THE nb
and AN nba coach doesn't make that much of a.
Difference you, know The knicks worthy second favorite to win
The Eastern conference when they didn't even have a Coach
i'm talking about according To. VEGAS i believe they were Behind,
CLEVELAND i, think but even when they didn't have a,
coach they were a second. Favorite, now, look they got
(01:39:39):
rid Of thibodeau in a harsh rush there and they
got turned down by so many. People SO i think
it's a good higher base than what was left out. There,
Certainly Mike brown has, experience he's learned from the. Best
he's been on some good benches Like Golden. State he
did coach The lakers for a cup of. COFFEE i
(01:40:00):
thought he did a decent job In, cleveland took him
to the. Finals SO i think, it's you, know probably
a lateral. Move BUT i think he'll do things that
we need to get, done like get a. Bench you
can't play the starters so long you're gonna wear them,
down AND i think that was a. PROBLEM i think
he'll play more of a, bench and that's Something thibodau
(01:40:20):
never wanted to.
Speaker 4 (01:40:21):
Do So Ian Begley tonight reports that The knicks have
signed him to a four, year forty million dollars deal
ten million to ten mill per.
Speaker 2 (01:40:32):
Season.
Speaker 4 (01:40:34):
Say he was fired By sacramento Last december during the
first year of an extension that paid him eight point
five million. Dollars But sacramento is going to save money
on what it Owes brown because his New New York
knicks contract and the offset, clause which is a standard
in ALL nba coaches.
Speaker 3 (01:40:54):
CONTRACTS i was aviol so coaches have that of their,
contracts all. True they don't get the double, PAYCHECK i
guess is What i'm.
Speaker 2 (01:41:00):
Well how about this for Your?
Speaker 4 (01:41:01):
Knicks, Though Between thibodeau's deal And brown's new Deal New
york has a total of seventy million dollars committed in
salary to the head coaching position for the next four,
years and it also does not factor in the impact
of the offset clause On brown's deal and any potential
(01:41:22):
buyout between The knicks And.
Speaker 3 (01:41:24):
Thibodeaux that's a lot of the narrow for a coaching spot.
There they didn't really have to get rid of. Them
they could have running back one more. TIME i think
they already decided to get rid of them once they you,
know once they got, eliminated they're, like that's, it, man
you're out of, here and we'll get somebody. Else BUT
i don't think they thought they would have such a
tough time getting a, replacement which they. Did really dragged
(01:41:46):
out for so. LONG i keep scrolling, back keep scrolling.
BACK i, MEAN i haven't missed. This they just haven't
announced it. YET i, mean that's so. Odd everyone and
their brother is reporting, it but there's been nothing of
fish yet for The. Knicks in, fact you kind of
joked about. It breen AND i last night were talking
about it on the, show And i'm, LIKE i can't
find anything official because it's not out THERE i honestly
(01:42:09):
THOUGHT i just maybe missed it just because there's so
much going. On i'm, Like, Okay i'm sure they introduced,
him BUT i wasn't paying. ATTENTION i was working somebody filling.
Shifts i'm. Sure i'm sure somewhere There i'll find. It
i'll fight.
Speaker 2 (01:42:22):
IT i probably guess. What you're not missing. It yeah it.
Speaker 3 (01:42:26):
Happened, Yeah, okay that's good to. Know that's good to.
KNOW i can watch it all.
Speaker 4 (01:42:29):
Right we got to hit some of these tweets before
we get out of, here and AND i don't even
feel Like i've scratched the surface on The roman numeral.
Rundown so when we come, back what the big stories

those where everyone freaks out about how terrible we are if.
Speaker 7 (01:47:40):
We, lose actually they were justifiably freaking out before this
tournament started because with a, new COACH the us men
had lost four. Straight games, this.
Speaker 3 (01:47:47):
Year you're winning all, at home AND.
Speaker 7 (01:47:49):
The us is going to be co Hosting The world cup.
NEXT year i will say, this tournament it's our. Regional
championship all the countries in, our region including THE U
us mexico are not as good as they were not
that many. Years ago there. You Go so i'm not
saying it's a bad thing to. Win tomorrow by all means,
win tomorrow and another reason to, do it not just
(01:48:09):
because you're playing, the game but because the teams LIKE
the Us and mexico that co Host A. World cup

Doors like, THERE'S like i don't think. THAT'S real, i go.
It's real let's go it's.
Speaker 2 (01:49:07):
Real real but what was? THEIR point i.
Speaker 3 (01:49:09):
DON'T know, I forget i don't. KNOW what i don't.
Speaker 2 (01:49:12):
Know why let why let a fact get.
Speaker 3 (01:49:14):
It get it? The way it was, too juicy.
Speaker 4 (01:49:17):
ALL right a couple of, quick TWEETS and i want
to get to here at. Stinking genius want him at.
Playing show we'll be back. Tomorrow night in the, same
time uh emmett uh breaks out some very cool jargon
here to make a. Sound hip near, the program, he
writes seventy five Percent of laker fans Not liking lebron
is definitely cap maybe they want. Him GONE but i
also know So many lakers fans who glaze him so
(01:49:39):
horribly bad that it makes me want to stop WATCHING
the nba in.
Speaker 2 (01:49:43):
Sports complete, YOU.
Speaker 3 (01:49:44):
Know i thought maybe seventy five percent was a little
high number. By me maybe it is higher than seventy
five Percent of. Laker fans if You ask, laker fans
how many do You want? Lebron back maybe eighty eighty
five percent would, say no we don't want. Them back,
let's go let's.
Speaker 4 (01:49:59):
Move on if you want to win, this year You
Want lebron, james. BACK don't, i mean how could?
Speaker 2 (01:50:03):
You not it just MAKES.
Speaker 4 (01:50:06):
If i think that that seventy five percent is of
a delusional take That the lakers are gonna get some superstar,
in return and you've made it very clear. They're not
so if you were, to, say well you're gonna get
Rid Of, lebron james but you're maybe gonna get a
low first round pick and, that's IT then i think
their opinion would change quite a bit and, be, like,
(01:50:27):
OH well i, mean no we don't want.
Speaker 2 (01:50:29):
To get rid.
Speaker 4 (01:50:30):
OF them i think the same people that would say
They want lebron gone And the lakers are better off
without him are the same people Who Think arch manning
is Related To peyton manning as his son right beyond.
Speaker 3 (01:50:41):
His nephew suppose you get Somebody Like dame Lord because
lebron's not on the, Team anymore well you.
Speaker 4 (01:50:46):
Can Get dame, lillard now regardless you and helping you in.
TWENTY five, I know, I know. I know i mean
it's you go get them. Right now you don't, do anything,
nature boy this is right up. Your alley the bottom line, this,
Year Guys, rudy Gobert the mary And the lakers Were
The Road.
Speaker 3 (01:51:02):
Out Mary Tyler moore show or something.
Speaker 4 (01:51:05):
Like, that brendan due to his lackluster, Performance today dalton
connect should be forced to add a prefix to, his
name then You'd have dalton disconnect the first rounder on.
Speaker 2 (01:51:20):
This, stiff yeah he's.
Speaker 3 (01:51:22):
Played bad matter, of fact the second half of, the
season he has.
Speaker 2 (01:51:25):
Not been all.
Speaker 3 (01:51:25):
That good, SEASON'S over, i KNOW but i think they're
losing a little bit of confidence in them after they
were so high on them early in.
Speaker 4 (01:51:34):
The season they tried to. Trade him they tried to,
trade him and the TRADE got i, don't know blown,
up somehow and Then the hornets ended up trading the
dude that they tried to trade. Him for when the trade.
Got imploded, let's see There, was oh how about Your.
Buddy steve, steve writes three days of stinking genius is a.
(01:51:54):

You steve him and big ten homer guys the. Other
one And, then PAUL the nfl has to Start. In
july make it a thirty. Game season this is the
slowest part of the. Sports year baseball does not matter
Outside Of New.
Speaker 2 (01:52:20):
York CITY in la that you, Know.
Speaker 3 (01:52:22):
Well, saint louis they love. Their baseball. It's Big, in
chicago they love their cubs. Out, there also it's not
just a couple, of cities but they Love, the dodgers that's,
for sure pointing That's big dodger town, out there that's
was Always a.
Speaker 4 (01:52:35):
Dodger WELL and i would, also add if you're in
a city where your baseball team, is good then you're
all about, It right and there might be and where they're,
even struggling there might be people on our Affiliate in
cleveland's like you guys haven't talked About the guardian, skid
yet what's? Going ON but i think nationally have we?
Seen ratings have you been keeping up? AT all i
know every week you've got a little baseball update in
(01:52:56):
the RUNDOWN and i always fail to get. To IT but,
i mean have you seen how ratings are even looking
for baseball?
Speaker 3 (01:53:02):
This year i've not seen a peep out. Of it
not nothing.
Speaker 4 (01:53:06):
On it one more HERE From Ucla dodger frank to
kind of put a highlight on the big story of.
The day As a, lakers Fan Getting DeAndre ayton is
an exciting but it's. A necessary it's, a necessity kind
of like paying your bills.
Speaker 2 (01:53:19):
On time so in, OTHER words.
Speaker 3 (01:53:22):
I agree with him on that they, need him but,
IT'S like.
Speaker 2 (01:53:24):
I don't really care too much to get excited.
Speaker 3 (01:53:26):
ABOUT it i don't want the electric. Turned off, and
uh You Know? DeAndre aid i. LOOK here i think
he's a. Good player he's not a, difference maker but
he's gonna be another piece of. The puzzle he's never
gonna be like the top two or three options on,
the team but it's somebody you need, for defense rebounding
and they give you about ten or twelve points.
Speaker 4 (01:53:45):
A game isn't that wild to say about a guy
that was the number? ONE overall, I.
Speaker 3 (01:53:49):
Know i know he hasn't lived, up expectations yet doesn't
mean he won't live up. To expectations, oh bride you.
Speaker 2 (01:53:54):
Hear that that's a little Hope On. DeAndre aid.
Speaker 3 (01:53:58):
Who would talk about former top picks Here. THE knicks
i saw a rumor that they wanted to Bring In.
Ben simmons is? That true is? That possible OR what?
Speaker 4 (01:54:07):
I mean we're in that phase of the sports calendar
Where A ben simmons hype video drops where he's making
shots and everyone tells you that he's found. A shot, it's,
like dude you See The ben. Simmons video he found.
A shot you know that's? Coming right, All right arnie's picture.

Speaker 3 (01:55:21):
He gives if he gives me something juicy and some.
GOOD gossip, i mean are you gonna Be Like charles
barkley and you're gonna tell me that Women In san
antonio are fat or, you're gonna, you know, keep, things uh,
you know kind of to the best and not really,
you know say a. THING controversial i NEED to i
need you, to say, you know this guy. IS controversy i, need,
(01:55:41):
something man you gotta give. Me Something tom brady didn't give.
ME that i don't Know If michael jordan's gonna give it.
Speaker 4 (01:55:46):
To me didn't give you that in. YEAR one I
think brady's gonna be better. Next year will he fall
into the list of former great players who are just?
Terrible broadcasters please don't take this personally if any of you,
are Listening But, Jason Witten, Drew Brees, emmitt, Smith Gosh
immitt smith was terrible as. A, broadcaster joe remember How
Bad joe montana was as.
Speaker 3 (01:56:06):
A Broadcaster joe montana was Good in, Tattletales, though yeah
he was Great The.
Speaker 2 (01:56:11):
Great, tattletales yeah and uh.
Speaker 4 (01:56:13):
What magic magic had an era where he was trying
to DO some tv and it was just just just.
Speaker 3 (01:56:18):
He did that late night talk show that was. Bad
too he would come Out Dancing.
Speaker 2 (01:56:23):
Roman Numeral Ten darren Waller.
Speaker 4 (01:56:25):
To MIAMI and i wasn't even aware that this, Was
happening but all of, A sudden i was on VACATION
and i got the typical Text from arnie that Said, Super,
bowl so how are you feeling about the Return Of
darren waller TO. THE nfl i was LISTENING.
Speaker 3 (01:56:39):
To Tj. Huschman zada he WAS on tv, doing something
and he said he had Spoken the waller eight days
before the trade, had happened and, he, said man don't
you MISS? The Nfl and, waller, said no. Not REALLY if,
I do i just go into my Studio and i'll
just make a track or a music track or something.
Like that and eight days later he played From. For miami,
(01:57:01):
i'm wondering does this guy have his heart into it?
Or not because when he has his heart, into it
he's one of the best tight ends. OUT there i
don't know if he has his heart, into it you
know BETTER than. I, DO chris.
Speaker 4 (01:57:11):
I, don't either because he's been very open about how
badly he didn't want to. Play exactly and, Then, FINALLY
arnie i want to table this a little bit to. Tomorrow,
night YEAH but I think roman numeral twelve. Is Fascinating
The louis, ort, situation. Yeah, fascinating well.
Speaker 3 (01:57:27):
He's under investigation and you saw the pitch as you
see the, oh, right now.
Speaker 2 (01:57:32):
They're obvious, it's obvious.
Speaker 3 (01:57:35):
Right because you have to throw it so bad because
you don't want to a batter take it a swing,
at it or, you know offering out, the pitch so
you have to make sure it's way out of the.
Strike zone i'm sure they'll find out there was some
bad things. Going on i'm wondering how often, it happens
or if they do such a good job policing it
that it's a one time or two, time thing.
Speaker 4 (01:57:56):
You, KNOW yeah i think they've done a really good
job of policing everything when it comes. To accountability, of
course people, are stupid Like the alabama, baseball coach like
a hundred thousand dollars bet on A random thursday baseball
game that maybe gets a couple of grand bet. On,
it yeah gotta. Be smarter speaking, of smart let's. Get smart.
ARNIE'S picks i don't know what, you're picking but TAKING
(01:58:16):
away seni. Sneaking, genius well just a couple.
Speaker 3 (01:58:18):
Of things i'm gonna go With the, mets sweep even
though it's going to be tough. For them they're a
big underdog and they're like plus one. Eating five yankees
a two twenty. Five favorite But the mets have been playing.
Good baseball yankees have. Been horrible mets get. The sweep
and a. Little soccer oh You know i'm the. Soccer
