Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
All right, there we go. Here we go, coming to
you live from the Fox Sports Radio studios, taking the
handoff the option, pitch the baton while we run from
Jason and Mike as Jason Smith prepares for a vacation
week and I honestly think, I honestly think that you know,
we we need to have a mind reset here at

(00:24):
Fox Sports Radio night, Jason, Mike, enjoy your vacation, Jason.
I just mean we got to realize how close we
are to the start of football. I mean we got
to pull back for a moment. Y'all can quit feigning
interest in the WNBA, acting like you care about the
Open Championship, pretending to be outraged by Shane Gillis. We
all just need to sit back and realize that starting tonight,

(00:47):
we are twelve days away from the first NFL exhibition games.
Here that twelve days way. Now. By the end of
the first quarter, I can already see the tweets in
your drafts. I can already. I can already hear your
phone calls to Fox Sports Radio. I can already. I
can already see it. Because after the first quarter it's

(01:09):
usually this sucks. I've been waiting all off season for this. Yeah,
it's a Hall of Fame game. It's usually pretty lame,
but it's football for goodness sakes. I mean, what what
would you give for like a midweek action game right
about now? Right? I mean, I'd take it. I'd take
a little Eastern Michigan versus Bowling Green if I could

(01:33):
right now, and I'd watch it like a starving person
would eat a saltine cracker and tell you it's the
greatest meal they've ever had. Yes, that stolen from Eddie Murphy.
But we're getting their kids. The off season of our
discontent is nearing an end. We can stop acting like
we care about the NFL Players Association and the actions

(01:55):
of their executive director or collusion. I mean, I know
I'm a college football guy and I'm sitting here tonight
on this throne of very niche topics in college football
that if we truly got into. Because I know my
man Shady Sean for twenty I mean apparently his birthdays

(02:17):
on April twentieth. I know how some of you are
not big college football fans, and I don't get that.
That'll never make sense to me. I live in a
college football town. I live, eat, sleep, breathe college football.
But I sit here on stories like conference realignment still,
what the playoff format is going to look like? Eight

(02:38):
to nine game conference schedules, And I could talk about
him until the cows come home, if that's even an
analogy that anyone uses. So I understand that sometimes there's
things that people can be really into and then others
would look at it and say, bro, that's boring. I mean, now,
I could sit here and fight and scratch and claw
about how NASCAR or maybe Daytona for that matter, have

(02:59):
really up their schedule by not having the night race
at Daytona still on the fourth of July weekend. Like
I could speak passionately, I'd fire in Britainstone coming out
how Angraham about that? But you know, there's a very
large portion of you that could not care less. I
could sit here and try to tell you about how
I think watching Scottie Scheffler this week and his press

(03:23):
conference was one of the most I think real moments
we've had in sports in a long time. And by
the way, we are going to talk about that later
in the show. But to me, I thought it was
I thought it was a relevant topic in the sports
world to spend some time on the why anymore, the
why because I mean, you win something, if it's a
major in golf, if it's an NBA title, or if

(03:44):
it's a baseball title, or if it's a college football title,
and what do we do. It's like by the next day, Hey,
here's the odds for who's gonna win next year's championship. Hey,
I'll tell you what this guy's about. Already hit the
poor or free agency? What are they gonna do about it?
You know, there's no really allowing someone to revel at

(04:05):
the moment. I mean the Thunder Just to give you
an example, the Thunder had their celebration parade on a Tuesday.
The NBA's draft was on a Thursday. Like, that doesn't
compute to me. Can we celebrate a little bit before
we get in next season mode? For anybody? So these
are all topics that for some people major storylines for

(04:28):
others are a big bore. I say that as I'm
sifting through tonight what appears to be the biggest story
in the sports world, and it is the mis guided
direction of the NFL Players Association and outside of I
don't know why Lloyd hal Junior thought it would be

(04:49):
smart to try to expense a trip to a strip club.
I mean, I just, I mean, there's a little common
sense that has to kind of fly in there every
now and then. Right Like Mike way back in the day,
whenever he was the Alabama coach for like a minute,
he used his own credit card, all right, he didn't
use his own credit card, He used the company credit

(05:10):
card to expense essentially a strip club. Report. You got
alleged alleged misgivings from a current SEC coach when he
was at a previous stop whenever he was using university
funds to pay for something similar as Lloyd how was
I mean, just I know of a former athletic director

(05:33):
who used a check to pay a booky. I mean, what,
there's certain things whenever you do them, it's either you
think you're never gonna get caught. You got stones of steel?
Are you just dumb? So tonight, well sprinkle in a
little talk. But I give all that precursor about all

(05:56):
these stories in the sports world that mattered to me
to say I couldn't care less about this. I could
not care less about this. I mean the whole idea
that there was collusion between the owners and the NFL
Players Association about guaranteed deals and things of that nature. Yeah,
that's pretty shocking, right, But paint me as blown away

(06:17):
that the owners would try to get away from guaranteed
contracts after the disaster of the Deshaun Watson deal and
seeing what guaranteed contracts have done in the NBA and
Major League Baseball, maybe more so for the NBA than
from Major League Baseball, but I completely totally get it,
and in fairness, the NFL has somewhat slowly been inching

(06:40):
towards a guaranteed contract world. So it was funny because
as we say good morning, good evening, good afternoon, good night,
wherever you may be in this time zone to Bree
Ana more oh good? Did I say merrow?

Speaker 3 (06:55):
I think he said more like more obey, and I
was like, oh cool.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
Yeah, I'll take it. But as I say good morning
to Bree, good morning, Brie, how are you?

Speaker 3 (07:02):
Good morning, I'm doing fabulous.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
How are you, I'm great, good evening. I guess to
Mark as well, what's going on, Mark, how are you?

Speaker 3 (07:08):
We're having a few technical differences. He's waving and he's saying.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Hi, Mark, all right. You asked me, Hey, what should
we put on the tweet to promote the show, And
I told you, I don't even know because all these
stories that I'm listening to Jason talk about the Lloyd
Howse story, and I'm like, wow, man, that's wild man.
It's he knows everything about this. He's into it, and
maybe he is, maybe he isn't. I'm just sitting here like, ugh,

(07:35):
I couldn't care less about this. And I again, Brie,
I understand the far reaching ramifications. I really do. But
I mean the only thing is that kind of the
toldery nature of it that this dude tried to get
away with using an extensive amount of company funds and
expense to seven hundred and thirty eight dollars car service

(07:57):
to go to a strip club. Outside of that, most
of these things shouldn't really be too shocking. So if
you're all in on this, let me know so I
can tap you in. I can tag you in as
my partner here. But I this story, it's like I
glaze over whenever people. It's like an algebra a sign
and it's like and another news. Lloyd Hawl Junior and

(08:18):
all a sudden like, I mean, I'm just out. There's
just nothing relevant too. That's not someone throughout the night
on Twitter or on the phones at eight seven seven
ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine ninety six
six three sixty nine might say play yeah, but yeah,
but this, yeah, And I'm there. I'm trying, but I
just I couldn't be more bored with our stories that

(08:39):
are apparently the top stories in sports right now.

Speaker 4 (08:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
Am I a bad guy?

Speaker 3 (08:43):
Yes? Oh my gosh, you're the worst person. I question
your morals, ethics and principles. I question them all.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
No, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
I'm just kind of wondering, Mike. The only thing when
I think when I look at the story is like,
how come is not a former player that's like not
in charge of like the NFLPA, Like if you look
at the NBA, like I think it was Chris Paul
before then it was CJ. McCollum, and then I think
right now they Fred van Fleet just got promoted into that, right,
I mean, and it's like such a player's league, and

(09:12):
I understand that, but I'm just I guess that's what
fascinates me more. And I'm like, oh, this guy's background.
He's all business blah blah blah, and like, Yeah, but
the strip club thing is kind of funny. I'm kind
of amused by that.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
Yeah, and I get it. Listen, there is a leadership
to the NBA player. You're hitting on my next point.
By the way, there is a leadership in the NBA
Players Association that has their executive Committee. I think there's
nine nine guys that are on that executive committee. I
think I'm pretty sure they're all players. I'm pulling it

(09:44):
up right now. They're on play. They're all players. And
you're right, Fred van Vliet. But there is an executive
director of the NBA Players Association, And to your point,
do you know who that is?

Speaker 3 (09:57):
I do not. I'm looking exactly.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
I don't think we should know who the executive director
of any players association is? Who cares? But it's Andre Gudala.
It's a former player. And there's guys like Sam Brum,
who's the deputy general counsel. You need, you need lawyers,
there will be lawyers.

Speaker 3 (10:15):
Right the engagement director.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
Yeah see, there's all the But I could have sat
here all night long and not come up with who
the executive director is of the NBA Players Association. I
would probably you could quiz me and say, hey, Plank,
who's the exec, who's the leader, who's the boss beyond
the player reps and the player council and things of
that nature. Are the Major League Baseball Players Association?

Speaker 5 (10:40):
I don't.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
I have no idea because I don't. I don't think
we should know that, you know, in in all fairness,
maybe the commissioner. That's about it. You know, if the
Players Association is doing their job, they don't know anything
about them, right and unless we get into labor strife
and the NFL by hasn't had labor strive in quite

(11:02):
a while. And I'd be willing to bet there's a
very large faction of the Plank Show listening audience, the
overnight crew here on Fox Sports Radio that didn't even
realize Demas Smith was not the commit the players Association
dude anymore, because I remember whenever I first saw this
story about a month ago, I was like, wait, Demris

(11:23):
Smith is writing a book like I could. Oh, yeah,
that's right, he's not the guy anymore. Forgot about that,
you know, just there it's a it's a major role
if you're a professional athlete. It's a major role if
you are a team owner or a team member, but
for fans it's just we don't screw up. We want

(11:44):
to watch the games. I have no desire to read
about or or watch takes on or listen to perspective
about what the NFL Players Association did wrong. Like Pat
McAfee's tweet that he sent out today was there you go, Okay,
I'm informed that's that's wild. But it's one of those

(12:05):
things that Brie I don't really know what to do
with it. It's like the great line in Talladega Nights
when Ricky Bobby is sitting there getting interviewed and he's like,
I don't I don't know what to do with my
hands right now. That's where I am on this NFLPA story.
I don't know what to do except to say, Lloyd,
how's pretty dumb? I mean, for someone that appears to
be a very smart person and has been in a

(12:26):
role that prepared him for this for years, how you
think you're gonna get away with expensing a trip to
the strip club is one of the wildest things I
think we've ever seen. And I'll tell you what I've
tried to fudge them things on expense reports before. But
you know what those things are? A beer at dinner,
paying for an appetizer, Yeah, exactly. Listen, it was it

(12:49):
was an important meeting. We got an I boughttom a
beer and that was it. Upgrading a seat on a flight,
I mean, bro a car service, and a strip club,
Like what do we what do we even doing? Of
all the things that you should not be is in
sports stories about how you're basically ripping off the people
you're representing. So, Brie, I don't know about you tonight. Mark.

(13:13):
I don't know where you guys stand but for me,
and I'm in for Bernie tomorrow night. So I'll just
I'll just let you know. I don't know if I'm
gonna get in trouble. I don't know how the boss
man feels about this. I don't know anyone else. This
is one of the greatest snooze stories ever, just because
I don't really know the effect of it on my
football team, and that's what matters to me most. I

(13:36):
don't care what. Hey, our front office in the NFLPA
is on five. I'm like, great, is Max Crosby playing
this weekend? Yes? He is I see no problem here.
I know that's selfish and greedy, isn't it.

Speaker 3 (13:47):
I was gonna say, it's not just any strip club.
It's the full nude number one rated Miami Strip Club,
so Seth Cabaret. So it's just not any No. I mean,
it's so boring. And I don't even know if this
happened during like the like season, I don't think it
would be a conversation.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
One funny thought on this, By the way, everything I
know about tutsis I learned from Ronnie mund the faction
of people that get that you're my people with that set.
Mike Florial Pro Football Talk I does a great job
covering the league. Pftprofootballtalk dot com is a website that
I would say we use quite a bit. He was

(14:24):
one of the first guys I saw. Gosh, I guess
this story's been going on for about a month, right
with the collusion talks and things of that nature. And
immediately there was a lot of the people that comment
on the stories and react and they say, this is
so dumb. I don't care about this story. Why is
this a story? And Florio said, I've never had more
radio requests for interviews than I have on this story.

(14:47):
And I mean, listen, I don't know. I'm not in
his inbox. I don't book his interviews. I have to
take him at his word. But I just the only
thing that I could think of or people in markets
with NFL teams, and the first question was, okay, well,
how does this affect X contract or why contract? I mean,
really that's kind of future contract negotiations and if there

(15:09):
might be any lawsuits really the big the big question
here more than anything. But I mean it, if you're
an NFL player, it's a very frustrating story right now, right,
you gotta be anger out of your mind. But for
I don't know, I'm gonna go out on a limb.
I just call me crazy. I don't think the phone

(15:30):
lines are blowing up with people wanted to talk about
the misgivings of the misguided nature of Lloyd Hall Junior
and what it means for the future of their team.
But it's out there At eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox eight seven seven nine ninety six sixty three
sixty nine, Baseball's Back. Got a few highlights to talk about.
One other story You're probably not gonna hear about too

(15:52):
much on this show tonight is the WNBA Skills competition
and or a three point competition? I mean, really, we're
we're giving points for a pass into a net and
a layup. What are we even doing right now? But hey,
it was great crowd. They seem to be into it,
and hey it was WNBA without people talking about Kitlyn Clark.

(16:14):
Me again, not my thing. You might be wonder, Plank,
what do you want to talk about? I told you
it's college football, man, and it's here, it's here. We
had SEC media days those last week, you had Big twelve.
The week before that, you got Big ten media days
coming up with ACC media days. We don't know what
the future of the college football Playoff looks like after
this year, but we got games and they're coming up

(16:35):
right around the corner. And when we come back, little
college football note. Just you know again, I'm trying to
pace myself. But what did we learn about the future
of the college football Playoff? And as always, if you
know what you want to talk about before we dive
into it, you got a topic to bring up eight
seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine
ninety six six three six nine, you can also find

(16:57):
us on Twitter. I'm at Plank Show and everyone go

Speaker 2 (17:47):
I got a text on the infamous my Personal Super
Secret textos line from one of my buddies, who is
an insomniac tonight. That said, Boy, for somebody who doesn't
seem to care about this strip club story, you're sure
to talk about it a lot. That's fair, Bro, that's fair.
I spent I spent a lot of time telling you

(18:09):
how dumb. I think that dude is and how I
couldn't care le's about this story. That's where we are
right now, though I will say later on in the show,
I want to drive it and I want to dive
into the J. T Watt. That TJ Watt resigning, I'll
do that all night long, too, A big deal and
it comes on the heels of us spending a lot
of time over the last couple of weeks talking about

(18:32):
I guess you could say the trajectory of two franchises
that just extended their gms, right, the Bears last week
and the Steelers the week before that, and oh, mark
On I guess you could say, continues to add to
his resume whenever you get this deal done with Hey,
we really have to tag everyone with some sort of
label the premiere pass rusher in the league, well, TJ

(18:55):
Watts in that group with the Max Crosby and among others.
So I just I loved it for TJ. Because I'm
a fan. I like seeing guys get rewarded that do
things right. Apparently no collusion involved there, but Omar khan
Man Wait, hold on, Omar khan Man. He continues to

(19:16):
seem to push some of the right buttons whenever it
comes to what they're doing in free agency or in
this instance, avoiding free agency. Now we'll see how things
pan out with Aaron Rodgers. DK Metcalf hasn't really been
too much of a mouth continued. I might even check
in with Emmett here a little bit later on up
in Seattle to see what that perspective is on what

(19:38):
I think is one of the most electric wide receivers
in the league. Sure, he's he's either pushing thirty or
is thirty, But I kind of I think the more
and more, Brie call me crazy, I'm getting straight your
calls in a second. I kind of like the makeup
of the Pittsburgh Steelers right now.

Speaker 3 (19:55):
You're so on on them. It is so funny.

Speaker 2 (19:58):
It is an idea, and I got to deal with
on Sunday nights. You know, Arnie is a I love
Arnie Spanning to death. He's a real hard person to
talk NFL with because all he cares about is the Dolphins,
and all he's going to tell you is that the
Dolphins are going to the super Bowl and that's really
about it, and everything is like done. I'm like, well,
you know, I kind of like the Steelers. Oh, they're terrible.
They're not gonna win probably any games this year, and

(20:20):
that's it. You know, how can you have a meaningful
conversation with that? Like, well, I kind of like you,
Oh no, no, Aaron Rodgers old he might throw an
interception every time he throws the ball. You know, it's
just how do you even have a conversation with that?
I'm being somewhat facetious, but you guys know you listen,
it's real. But I don't know why Brie I'm buying
now again, I have uh, let's see here, where's my countdown?

(20:42):
Forty two days, forty seven days from the first true
regular season NFL game. So I am allowing myself a
little wiggle room right now. But if i'm if I'm
looking at over unders and I'm feeling pretty confident on
an over under win total ticket in the National foot
Ball League right now, I kind of dig the I

(21:03):
kind of dig the number right now for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
Call me crazy, I do call you crazy. You're not
in nine and a half, eight and a half. Now,
I'm going I'm going under, but barely, I'm going like seven.
I'll go seven, just barely if.

Speaker 2 (21:18):
They win, if they go seven to ten this year,
I think I've got to join that group of people
that are calling for Mike Tomlin's job. Not that oh,
and I'm sure they'll be a back and forth about
the roster and if it was ready, and you never know,
injuries could play fact like Aaron Rodgers goes down. I mean,
you're you're turning to Mason Rudolph and if something happens there,

(21:39):
welcome Skyler Thompson to the Steeler Nation. But I don't know, man,
I'm I'm in right now. So the the Wade extension
was a big one for me this week.

Speaker 10 (21:47):
Chris.

Speaker 11 (21:48):
It's so quick, how all of football think certain coaches
are brilliant, but a couple losses and they turn in
the bugs.

Speaker 10 (21:56):
It's just I hate.

Speaker 11 (21:57):
It because you know, they think Belichick has lost his mind,
doesn't know how to coach because he has a new girlfriend.
And the Pittsburgh coach he's losing his mind because he
has a lot of winning seasons. He coaches his team
up to a certain point. The somehow the players, in
my view, they lose. So he's a bump because he

(22:19):
coaches him to a certain point they just can't win.

Speaker 3 (22:22):
I think it's kind of that Mike's sooship point, like
with the Angels at that point in his career, like
managing slash coaching career, where you kind of just like
lose the locker room, you know, like they're just tired
of hearing the same things like over and over and
over again. I kind of that's what I compare it.
That's what I'm kind of thinking it is.

Speaker 2 (22:40):
Well, it's I think, Well, and part of this I
bring up because breath over the next few weeks. So
by my count, we are one show away. I've already
put tonight's show in the books, one show away from
being able to recap an NFL game, right, I mean
we're going to be here a week well, I guess

(23:03):
two weeks being able to hey, we had an NFL
game on Thursday night, right then in that where three shows,
two shows away from having a full slate of NFL
games in the preseason that we're going to be able
to talk about. You know, I think I think that
number six or six shows away from college, seven shows

(23:23):
away from the NFL, and you know, you'd kind of
challenge every week. I think we should kind of dive
into a different NFL topic, right, overrated teams, dramatic situations
with quarterbacks, Hello Cleveland, teams that could start out win list,
teams that could start out undefeated. But you know one
of those was coaches under the most pressure, right, is

(23:45):
one of the topics you want to get into, and
I'm with you on it. I think you have to
look any further than the Steelers right now. I think
they feel like that they've got a pretty good roster
to compete and Mike Tomlin's maybe it's media created, but
even if it is, it's point you hit it on
the head. Maybe that message becomes stale and it's like, Okay,

(24:05):
we get it. It's Mike Tomlin. He's gonna talk all
rough and tough and we're gonna go out and go
you know, nine and eight or you know eight to nine. So,
even though they don't have losing records, right, I think
it's one of the more pressurized situations for a head
coach this.

Speaker 3 (24:20):
Year Versus Mike McDaniel.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
Oh, the ultimate pressure.

Speaker 3 (24:24):
That's what I'm saying. So, I mean, I think if
I had a choice between those two, I think Mike
McDaniel is under the most pressure, Tomlin's like right there
underneath it, because I mean for Tomlin, he could be like, well,
hey they just thought Aaron Rodgers. But I feel like
he's a little bit more leeway. I think it's like
after I'm looking like I'm thinking ahead for Tomlin, like
this year is kind of like that little cushion, and
then next year is like, oh, then for sure, depending

(24:46):
on how this season ends. But Mike McDaniel, I mean,
if they start out rough, I think he's gone.

Speaker 2 (24:53):
There is a part of me though, with the Dolphins
that wonders if it's more the GM and Chris Greer
than it might be mcdanie. But then it also, I mean,
real quick, just on this, because I fight about the
hot seat of Mike McDaniel all the time. We do
realize that the Dolphins are in that category of a
team that hasn't won a playoff game in a really,

(25:15):
really long time.

Speaker 3 (25:16):
Five years.

Speaker 2 (25:17):
Yes, the last time the Miami Dolphins actually won a
playoff game you have to go back to two thousand
and they won a wild card game in overtime against
the Colts before the Raiders stopped Dave wan stat on
their way towards I think what that was two thousand
and Super Bowl year we got destroyed. You know, I
had therapy to forget about that. But it's even wilder

(25:41):
whenever you realize twenty five years since they won a
playoff game, right in that span, they've only gone to
the playoffs five times, five times, and two of those
five times have been in the three years that Mike
McDaniel's been their head coach.

Speaker 1 (25:59):
I get it.

Speaker 6 (26:01):
I'm not.

Speaker 2 (26:02):
It's what have you done for me lately? Right? But
that's what kind of blows my mind for you about
Mike McDaniel being on the hot seat, like he's done
things for Miami that they haven't done in twenty years,
twenty five years. Excuse me, but you and I'm not disagreeing.
I'm just laying out the facts. You're right, he might
be on the hottest seat in the NFL right now,

(26:23):
and he's done things in New York all excuse me,
in Miami that haven't been done in a long time.
McDaniel in Miami, Kevin Stefanski in Cleveland, Tomlin and Pittsburgh.
You know, I have a hard time with the AFC
South right now because I don't hey, I don't know
if any of those teams are good callahead of Tennessee
falls on its face again this year than than Maybe,

(26:44):
I'm not gonna lie to you with you know, a
new head coach in Jacksonville, you're gonna you're gonna give
You're gonna give old Liam Cohen his time to see
if he can get it figured out. But I mean,
nobody's really on the hot seat in the AFC West.
I don't think anyone's in the hot seat in the NFC. Well,
what am I saying? Brian Dable, Right, that's that's the
hottest of hot seats. Would you say, would you say

(27:08):
maybe it's a it's a little bit, a little bit
hot and say Atlanta if things don't go well with
Michael PENNOCKX Junior. I know it would be only what
year three for Rahie Morris. But I guess my point
is there's not a ton of smoking hot seats right
now in the NFL. I mean, Jonathan Ganna potentially with
the Arizona Cardinals, but Shanahan's not going anywhere in San Francisco.

(27:32):
You know, Dala's not going anywhere. Mcday, He's not going anywhere.
It's a fascinating topic when you start looking college football. Listen,
I know a teas talking some college football here, and
we're just not going to get to it. But Brie,
I don't know, man, I think that I think that
it's an interesting conversation to find out who truly is
on the hot seat, and then things that could develop

(27:53):
throughout the season that couldn't up placing a coach on
the hot seat, right that a tough start, maybe even
a ridiculous Beyonce six or seven games two and five,
one and six, it might be like, forget this, we
got to go in another direction, right, So I just
it's kind of fascinating when you really truly dive into it,
because I don't know if there's as many hot seed
candidates as we like to make it out to be

(28:14):
in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (28:16):
No, I think those are kind of like the main
three I look at and Stavanski is so rough. But
I only think that because the Browns organization is just
so questionable and you kind of what are they doing anyway?

Speaker 2 (28:26):
So I think that free thing that they do. Oh
it's Brianna Morrow. He is Mark Ramsey, I'm Chris Plank.
You're tuning into the Plank Show here on Fox Sports Radio.
I'm gonna get your calls tonight. Let me let me
table the college football talk real quick, because I do
want to get a couple of calls in off the top.
So let's get after it. Eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox eight seven seven nine ninety six six three

(28:48):
six nine. How about this for a leadoff hitter. Let's
go straight to Boston. Blind Scott is in the house
to kick things off. Scott, good morning, man, what's going on?

Speaker 12 (28:58):
Hey, I'm fired up about the week and now you're
going to be on tomorrow night too, so I got
to drop some hot takes here.

Speaker 13 (29:03):
Dude.

Speaker 12 (29:03):
I'm on the side of the Players Association. This is
the head of the union, Reptica in trouble. I think
this is I think it's a hit job by the
owners to go after this guy. You know, multiple hosts,
fill and hosts whoever. They have kids that serve in
the military. On the station where a lot of taxpayers,
like I'm a unionists, a lot of people work in
the union. We want these players to have maximum guaranteed

(29:26):
contracts because we want them to pay the max from
tax rates as the largest earners in the United States,
to make the whole United States go around. That's how
the United States operates. We don't want the money to
go into the owner's pocket. So like I am in
the under the belief that the fans should be able
to fire owners of teams. A lot of owners take
taxpayers money to build stadiums and stuff. And I don't

(29:48):
think it's a big deal. The guys spent thirty two
thousand at a strip club. That's an expense. He took
clients there. It's no different than a restaurant that's a
reputable business open in a large city. That's the right
price for something like that. I took college accounting, and
I worked in accounting before I went blind. And I
think that he even wrote it up on a Texas

(30:09):
I think the owners are scrutinizing him. They gave him
an audit because they want to go after the union,
because they want to take away the players' rights.

Speaker 2 (30:17):
Right, Oh, I like, so, okay, Scott, you can pull
me back into this story if you have some sort
of controversy, if you want to tell me that there
is some sort of NFL going after the arbitrator. I
guess in this case executive director. Now I could be

(30:37):
in a little bit on this could be in a
little bit.

Speaker 12 (30:41):
Yeah, like what about some of these owners, Like we
could go after their finances. A lot of them don't
pay taxes. I don't want to say anything about anybody
because a lot of them own sports stations. Like I
think James Downes is the greatest owner ever. I think
he's great. He owes a lot of radio stations. You
know what I'm saying. But this is definitely you know,
that's why Florio was on it every station talking to
everybody about it, because there's nothing really to talk about

(31:03):
right now. It leads up into the NFL season. Here's
the thing about the players. These people are uneducated, these players,
anybody you know. I'm looking at Bill Belichick here, he
thinks he's a genius and everything. A lot of players
think their mine. They ain't looking at the big picture.
They're not looking at their future. They're just looking at money.
Their young kids. You know, somebody has to look out
for them.

Speaker 13 (31:22):
Now.

Speaker 12 (31:23):
Should the union have rep be so unprofessional as to
get caught like that, No way, no way. Like that
was really bad, but it's taken away the rights of
the players, Like we need better people to represent the players.
In the NFL. We maybe we don't need the players
representing the players. Maybe we need lawyers, actual real lawyers

(31:43):
that didn't play. Like you know, the nerdy guy at
school that got stuffed in the locker. I'd rather have
that guy as a union rep than a formed player,
you know what I'm saying. Like, one other thing to
do with this college football season starting. I told you
my cousin he's a long snapper. He's on the safety
team at Notre Dame on snapper. Like, I couldn't be
more excited about our BC this year in North Carolina,

(32:05):
and then Boston College plays Notre Dame at home in
BC this year. That's gonna be one of the biggest
college games of the year. But Matt Ryan was like
one of the top football players like when he played
college football, and nobody in Boston even knew it. So
it's hard to gain some traction around town. But this
is a huge market, like on overnight radio Boston, because

(32:27):
so many people are working right now. They got this
garbage strike going on here. It's lasted eighteen days. The
state doesn't want to side with the garbage people. It's
almost time to do it though, because garbage has been
piling up for people are dumping it in the woods
and everything, renting U hauls. You know what I'm saying,
You couldn't. You couldn't get better stories than this on
the weekend. You know, garbage strikes, union, all types of

(32:50):
union interference, teams to the union. I mean, I know
guys around here, they're in their eighties. They served like
twenty years in Attica and they collected a full pension. Like,
unions are obviously corrupt. Looking at this player's union rep
that way, he was being real corrupt. I bet he
had his hand in the cookie jar, and maybe even
more than we knew. But unions are regulated by the
federal government of the United States, and they should be

(33:12):
really strong, and we should side with the players as
they are all tax payers.

Speaker 14 (33:17):
You know.

Speaker 2 (33:17):
Yeah, hey, blind Scott, thanks for kicking it off the
right way. Listen. I want to make this clear. I
in no way in saying, oh yeah, this was okay
that this happened. I just don't care. I mean I
couldn't care less, Like what time's the game kickoff Sunday?
I mean, leave this to smarter people than me. I
just I want to know if I want to know
if Max Crosby's going to be healthy for the Raiders

(33:39):
or if Christian Wilkins is going to be back. Like
sitting here and debating and discussing this right now. We
got a season that is, you know, four or five
weeks away. Great, an amazing story, amazing off season story.
But if you want to start diving into me the
owners potentially trying to frame this dude and throw him
under the bus, I'm here for it. Let's go to

(34:01):
the garbage strike stuff is fascinating. Thinking of all your
hard working people up in the New England area that
is that is tough. There is an episode of Always
Sonny in Philadelphia that can help those of you who
have struggled to find things to do with your trash. Brilliant.
In fact, if I'm not mistaken, I think Mac and

(34:22):
Dennis come up with their own trash company. Doesn't really
last all that long, but well worth your time. All right,
quick break back to the phones at eight seven, seven
ninety nine on Fox when we come back, hitting on
the Twitter too, and you find me at Plank Show
and everyone should follow us at Fox Sports Radio. This
is the Plank Show. Stick around, yo, Brie, I do
have a Phoenix Sun's topic for you next hour. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

(34:46):
There was a story about what could be next for
the Suns and do we call this a rebuild?

Speaker 3 (34:51):
No?

Speaker 2 (34:51):
Okay, not yet. And I have no problem with Damian
Lillard going back to Portland. Boy, some people were really
outraged about this. Did you see how things went for
him when he went ring chasing? When he went to
Milwaukee did not go well? So why not get paid
a lot of money, go back to a place where
you enjoyed, a city that somehow you enjoyed, a place
that you enjoyed. Yep, finish out your career there. Why not?

(35:14):
No problem with it. And speaking of no problems, I
have no problem with the NBA expanding either. I I
got a full segment on that. If we don't hit
it tonight, then we'll get into it tomorrow night. I'm
in for Bernie tomorrow night, who's on vacation. But yeah,
there's this always cracks me up every single time there's
even a conversation about expansion. Everyone, Oh, there's a lot

(35:35):
of work that needs to be done, Like, what the
hell have you guys been doing? Then I say, the
expansion conversation comes up probably every year in the NBA,
because you're like any he can get the thirty two easily,
easily at two teams, kind of shift around, get your
East and West a little bit more well configured. Let's go,
and every single year when it comes around, like, ah,

(35:56):
you know, we got a little bit more work to
do on that quote. A lot of analysis still needs
to be done, and nothing's been predetermined one way or another,
and without any specific timeline, we're going to be as
thorough as possible and look at all the potential issues. Well, honestly,
I mean, the time to make any changes to your game,
to your schedule, to the makeup of your league is

(36:19):
when you negotiate your TV deals. And the fact that
they didn't get it done prior to this massive contract
renegotiations with TV blows my absolute mind. I mean blows
my mind. But Seattle, could you imagine that Sonics, that
first home game for the Sonics when Seattle gets a
franchise back of the Wild. And I know, maybe it's

(36:41):
just me kind of taking the low hanging fruit, but
you put a team in Seattle, and you put a
team in Vegas, I you do pretty well, man. And
I think that Seattle, Oklahoma City rivalry would be one
that I am here. But we'll see. Apparently they still
have a lot of work to do, all right. Eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox, Andre is in Massachusett's what's
going on? Andre? How are you man doing?

Speaker 15 (37:00):
Thanks for taking the call. Listen to Seattle would be wonderful,
long lived the SuperSonics Las Vegas, Okay, sports gaming the
whole nine yards. Even though I'm not a proponent of
putting the casino right next to the arena. We can't
do that, folks in Dallas, you know, a little bit
too far stretch, so maybe across the street, but it's
not I can't be in the same.

Speaker 12 (37:19):
Building, all right.

Speaker 15 (37:20):
And also Mexico City in the mixed or an NBA franchise,
all right, let's get let's get a team south of
the border, Okay, mega city, plenty of people, expands the
game in Latin America, it would be run wonderful. So
NBA expansion is on the horizons. But you started with
a non story story. And here in the Commonwealth Blind
Scott had a lot of good angles on this, talking

(37:41):
about the NFL wanting to restrict the rights to the
players and this kind of being a subtle covert operation
to push back on these guaranteed contracts.

Speaker 12 (37:51):
Listen for me.

Speaker 16 (37:52):
It's a couple of things.

Speaker 5 (37:53):
You know.

Speaker 15 (37:53):
First of all, right, mister Lloyd Howell, and you took
the expense account to some gentlemen's clubs and you know
not and you know, and it doesn't seem right on
the face of it. We're talking about less than five
thousand dollars. Last I checked, his salary was like three
point six million dollars.

Speaker 13 (38:08):
So yeah, got to know four dogs never mind where
you were going.

Speaker 15 (38:11):
And it's kind of untoured, and you know, you certainly
don't need this publicity if you're trying to fight for
the right of the players and professional sports who need
it the most right, the most violent game with the
shortest careers, who needs a strong players union more than
anyone at the NFLPA. Okay, even though they continue, you know,
they seem to be at the bottom, whereas baseball is
at the top in terms of fighting for players. Right,

(38:32):
the NFL seems to cave all the time in terms
of what these players need. And it's very insightful hearing
former players talk about it, you know, because some of
it Frankly, you know, you only get medical coverage like
five years after you retire and then you're on your own,
right Willis doesn't appreciate that, you know, Yeah, that got
hit me. I don't know Willis is here with me.
You know my dog, you know, he's a little he's
quiet now, but he might he might pop up. But

(38:53):
the fact of the matter is just from two perspectives,
because you know, in the culture right now, what's going
on with people and doing on your free time. You
shouldn't be doing this CEO at a company here, he's
at the coldplay conference. You know, he's hugging up whoever
he's hugging up. Frankly, you shouldn't. If you didn't react
the way you reacted, they wouldn't, you know, we would
have just been like who who that is?

Speaker 6 (39:13):
That guy?

Speaker 15 (39:13):
People who knew him would have been offended. But the
way that you reacted now your front page news and
you got to you know, so your whole big situation.
That's a little bit of comment right there, because you
know what I mean, should be stepping out in your
peace fires, all right, you know what I mean. But
then you did it to yourself. The point with back
to the Lloyd Howe. For me is if it's okay, fine,
so you went where you shouldn't go, but I don't
think people really care. Just pay the money and we're done.

(39:36):
I'm surprised why you're just running for the hells as
if you committed some sort of felony offense and you
know it's over for you.

Speaker 5 (39:44):
We're at okay.

Speaker 15 (39:45):
I expend these things, I shouldn't you make over three
million dollars. Just pay the money back and move forward.
For me, you know, I get it.

Speaker 13 (39:52):
Love is a battlefield and all.

Speaker 15 (39:53):
These things that people's relationships one, two, and three. But
we got some non story stories. I'm gonna kick it back.

Speaker 13 (39:59):
I know your other call is yeah.

Speaker 2 (40:00):
And I gotta jump in ondre because I am up
against and I'm twenty seconds until a heart out. I
appreciate your phone call man, bringing the energy, bringing the juice. Yeah,
pay it, don't expense it. Pay it if you're afraid
there was gonna be on your credit card bill and
your wife was gonna see it. I don't know, but
just pay it. So it becomes an embarrassing story because
all you have to do was pay the freaking bill
and not try to expense it and take money away
from the players. Are one of the books Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 17 (40:23):
Please you're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio, college football
takes center stage and Shane Gillis rocks a busy hour
two coming up here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (40:35):
Welcome one, Welcome all boarded a border coast to coasts,
and as the great Ben Mahler says in the air, everywhere.
Thanks not only the Fox Sports Radio dot Com, but
of course the iHeart Radio app. Quick week recap for you.
Number one, it was SEC Media Days. Now. I went

(40:56):
to SEC Media Days last year, Bria. Have you ever
been to a college football media day? Scrum?

Speaker 3 (41:02):
No, it sounds so fun, though it.

Speaker 2 (41:05):
Is it is now, I never want to go to them.
I'm just kind of laying out my mind because it's
in the middle of summer. We're still what did I say,
what's my number at for college for We're still thirty
five days away from the college football season, and I
guess forty two days away from the first full Saturday

(41:26):
of college football. So he still got a long time.
But SEC Media Days is a party, and it is
four days, sixteen teams, four teams each day, four a
Twelvey on this match four teams each day, and there's
hundreds of radio stations, thousands of media, and there used
to be fans like they used to have fans in

(41:48):
media day. They kind of pulled back on that a
little bit. At least we didn't see any in Dallas
last year or too many in Atlanta this year. And
I think two major things came out of SEC media
days real quick. And I'll steer clear of anything with
the game on the field, because how daris talk about
anything involving a potential team in the game. Hey, everybody

(42:09):
loves arch Manning. He's the greatest quarterback that you've never
seen play a regular season game against a good team.
And a lot of people seem to think ohl On
is going to be pretty good. The national media seems
to like, oh you more than its fans do. But
we can talk about that as we get closer to
kick call oh No No. Two. Very off the field
stories number one. The SEC still has yet to choose

(42:33):
which direction they want to go with the future of
the college football playoffs. The Big twelve came out. Brett
yor Mark kind of injured his elbow, pat himself on
the back on the five eleven format, which is five
automatic qualifiers eleven at large bid sixteen teams in the
college football playoff. The Big Ten wants to treat this
thing more like an invitation. They want four automatic bids

(42:57):
for both the Big Ten and the SEC see two
for the Big twelve and the ACC. So at four, eight, ten, twelve,
and then you would have four other bids that would
be out there for a potential you know, group of
five team, couple of a large squads, but you would
have eight automatic How can you have automatic bids in
a playoffs? Imagine starting a season and saying, oh well,

(43:23):
two teams, regardless of what happens from the AFC West
are going to the playoffs. Now nine out of ten
times that would happen. But it's just dah. Seems kind
of seems like it takes away a little bit from
the regular season. SEC is not committed to nor they
supported a plan. Seems like they're on board with a
five to eleven format, but even Greg Sank said, hey man,

(43:43):
we got a long way to go, and we've got
a twelve team format that we've had one year of.
This is the second and we're more than happy to
go into twenty twenty six with a twelve team playoff.
By the way, do you know what the plan is
for the twenty twenty six college football playoffs? Anyone I
can answer it for you. There isn't one. So that
was big story. Number one kind of came out. Big

(44:04):
twelve jumped behind the five eleven sec It was like,
you know, we'll see and now we get Big ten
and acc media days this week. The second big story
Greg McElroy, former New York Jet quarterback, might be a
little bit better known for his days at Alabama. Greg
McElroy came out and said he talked to someone in

(44:27):
the know, someone that would know and breed. You know
what they told him. They told him that Nick Saban
is going to return to coaching. Nick Saban is going
to return to coaching. Now. I like Greg McElroy a lot,
but as soon as he laid out this report, he said,
I'm not buying it. Because while I'm not buying it,
I mean, I just then, why are you reporting it?

(44:51):
Like imagine Brian Windhorse sits down and goes I've heard
from some people that Lebron James is about to be traded.
Now I'm not buying it, but I just figured I
need to say it so everybody knows. So do you
think it's gonna happen? It's coming out of your mouth.
I mean, you gotta believe it or not. It's almost
like you're just throwing s off the wall to see
if it sticks. Urban Meyer. Urban Meyer has a unique

(45:14):
take on this. Now, Erban Meyer, he have several failed
coaching opportunities. Now, maybe that's unfair. In the college game,
if Erbin Meyer comes to your school, if he comes
to your city, you're probably gonna win. If Erbin Meyer
comes to your NFL team, they could be a little
bit of trouble. But Erbin Meyer hinted that he thinks

(45:35):
Nick Saban isn't looking to return to college.

Speaker 18 (45:37):
But it's not a little scratch. It's probably a pretty
big scratch. I don't think he'd go back to college.
I don't see that fit. But I think he would
take phone calls from the NFL. Nick Saban can get
that kind of position where he believes that this is
a Hall of Fame, future Hall of Fame quarterback or
a world champion quarterback. The more I'm thinking I think
he's going to take that call, I really do.

Speaker 2 (45:58):
Hm hm Nick Saban in the NFL. Something tells me
we've been there and we've done that. Now here's my question.
Is there anything Briae and Mark feel free to jump
in on this that would lead you to believe after
the and it's it's unfair to say failed. I mean,
the guy finished the five hundred record. It's not like
they went. It's not like Steve Spurry or whenever he

(46:19):
was the head coach Washington. But I mean, you think
you could see Nick Saban coaching in the NFL? I
asked the question, is are you buying what Urban Meyer
is selling right now?

Speaker 3 (46:29):
I think it would depend on like this situation, like
is he gonna go to Miami and like try that
and like coach like Tua again. I think that'd be
the only thing that I could maybe see. And I
don't think he'd go back to college. I don't think
he's like I don't think he would like I don't
want to say adjust well to like everything that's happening.

Speaker 2 (46:48):
Yeah, well, I mean he left because of.

Speaker 3 (46:49):
Me exactly, so I don't think I don't see him
going back to that. But if he's gonna go to
the NFL, I think it's gonna be like a situation
like that where he has some kind of relationship with
like a quarterback.

Speaker 2 (46:58):
That's just me will say this. The NF, the college
football game is becoming much much more like the NFL.
And I live in a town, in a college community
that has a structure that I think any coach would
want to be a part of. Now. I think Britain
Vinible is gonna win a lot of games at Oklahoma.

(47:19):
I don't think he's going anywhere. But when you think
about structure Oklahoma now has and do that's ahead of football.
They have an entire scouting department, They got a general
manager in Jim Maggie. Basically, Oklahoma is one of those
few jobs right now when you cross college football. Maybe
Stanford is kind of like this right now with what
Andrew Luck has put in. I'm sure there's others. You

(47:40):
just got to coach football. I gotta recruit still, I've
just got to coach football. Mark.

Speaker 10 (47:44):
I think he wants to go back.

Speaker 11 (47:45):
I mean he's been he got awake because he didn't
want to deal with all of the college nil stuff,
and so as he's been sitting back and watching he
can deal with you know, men, and the doesn't have
to worry about the likening stuff, all that, all the
stuff that goes on with that. He doesn't have to
deal with that, and you just just have to deal

(48:07):
with men and get them to go along with his plan.

Speaker 10 (48:10):
I think he wants to do it.

Speaker 2 (48:11):
I wouldn't be surprised. But again again, like I said, man,
some of these, some of these college football team structures.
As a coach, you don't have to deal with that.
Ile that's out of your hands. It's on the school
and it's on the makeup of your personnel department. But
Paul Finebom hitting on the head. He's not going to
have a better job than what he had at Alabama.
One other note before we get to the phones. At

(48:33):
eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox, Boy bri You
talking about him in Miami was fascinating, but his daughter
came out and really shut down those rumors. Greg McElroy
started it, but Saman's. Saman's daughter Kristen posted an Instagram
story of her dad walking onto the field, captioning it

(48:57):
with damn I missed this. Some thought that it was
foreshadowing a massive announcement. She added, Apparently some of y'all
feel trolled by my last story on Nick's walkout. He's
not coming back to coaching. Hate to break it to you.
You had your time, so there you go. I mean,

(49:19):
I don't know if my daughter would be the greatest
source of information on any story involving me, Brie, and
I'm pretty sure that she and my son would use
anything possible that I do to get a little bit
of internet aura or I don't know any clicks, but
it just seems it seems pretty far fetched he would
come back period, right, So.

Speaker 3 (49:41):
You think it's unlikely, like you don't see it happen.

Speaker 2 (49:43):
I never want to say never, but I've been front
and center and watching a college football coach who grinded
in Bob Stoops, and watching him in his retirement. And
when I tell you that, nobody, and I mean nobody
has loved retirement more than Bob Stoops, Bri, nobody has
loved retirement more than Bob Stoops, and I think Nick
Saban is that category. Has there been a longing in

(50:06):
the NFL to bring him back? I don't think so.
I mean, I feel like, I mean, one of my
seventy year old and Pete Carroll just got hired. But
Pete Carroll has a Super Bowl ring, right, Nick Saban doesn't.
It seems as if our trend has been to go
that Sean McVay route still right, younger kind of up
and coming offensive coordinators, a handful of defensive coordinators here

(50:27):
and there. I don't know, but it was just a
fascinating story that took over for two to three days
of SEC media days. And by the way, Nick Saban
was not there, and he was at us because last
year was when they introduced him as Hey, he's gonna
be an analyst, he's gonna be on game day. So
he was all over the place. This year not not
there when one of the it just all seemed too

(50:48):
strategic to me to keep him in the headlines. You
buy it, are selling it? At eight seven, seven ninety
nine on Fox eight seven seven nine ninety six sixty
three sixty nine, Nick Saban's returned to coaching, and then
in that do you think it would be successful? All right,
Holler and James, we tried last week, didn't we fail?
With Holler and James on the phone.

Speaker 19 (51:08):
Hollaring, James has got at this time, he's got the
house phone.

Speaker 2 (51:13):
Let's go what's going on? James? How are you?

Speaker 19 (51:16):
Don't worry about this car. It's not gonna drop, it's
not gonna find out. It's not being ram Bible Rising.
Whoever runs at and T, whoever runs the network, this
car is going to be let yet, go for it.
I don't think that what's his name mcveage really wants

(51:38):
Nick Saban and with his team with the Minnesota White Geys.

Speaker 2 (51:45):
What how did you get McVeigh and then Saban with
Minnesota on that hollering James, help me out, because.

Speaker 19 (51:55):
You know you see all these players, well, zombie what's
his name? That owner of the the Waking you will
are picking up with the new team that they want
to start out with this new year, saying that they're
going to be a little bit better, they're gonna look
a little stronger, they're gonna come out a little faster,
a little quicker, and looking at a different quarterbacks to

(52:16):
back up the quarterback number nine number who had met
at the Mermaid and that's uh, what's his name again?
I forget his name sometimes I have to read the
back of his jersey, and right now it's in the wash.

Speaker 2 (52:33):
J McCarthy J. J.

Speaker 19 (52:35):
McCarthy is gonna be the starter. But who's the surprise
quarterback that you got an idea? A Statt who's going
to back him out? I guess she goes down again.
He's still got to throw a ligum and he's playing
with Daniello. Doesn't heal injury injury? Doesn't heal quickly?

Speaker 2 (52:54):
I don't dist thanks you for the call. Holler and James,
Minnesota is a team I'm just not in on and not.

Speaker 3 (53:02):
On the Vikings.

Speaker 10 (53:04):
What do you mean.

Speaker 2 (53:06):
Why, Chris? I try to tell Vikings fans all year
long last season, it's like, guys, when he gets to
nut cutting time, you're gonna fold, and they did. Everyone's
mad at me. Like I love Minnesota. I love their fans.
It's been a tortured franchise. But it's just what's the
highlights you see of JJ McCarthy. It's one quarter of

(53:30):
an exhibition game against the Vegas Raiders backups, and everyone's
telling us how great a dude that was not really
asked to do too much in college. And I don't
know if he's still healthy. You're on hollering, James, You're
on is something I don't know. I think JJ McCarthy
is his backup, by the way, is Sam Howe. Remember

(53:51):
the Vikings were perceived to be in the Aaron Rodgers
conversation for a while, right, and some some think that
it was either Aaron Rodgers trying to force his way
into the Vikings conversation or maybe maybe just a potential
that Minnesota was sniffing around a bit. I don't know
what's real, what is it, but yeah, I'm not as

(54:12):
high on Minnesota as others, but holy smokes that they
have some weapons. I mean, Jordan Addison, now that he's
got some clarity on his DUI case, we'll find out
what that suspension, if there is gonna be one, what
that'll look like. I'm kind of a big Rondel Moore guy,
I know, I think because I always end up with

(54:33):
him in fantasy and I think he had like one
good week and it helped me win the game. So
I'm like, oh my gosh, Rondel Moore is amazing and
it's like been one good week. How could you not?
Like justin Jefferson, the tight end position is stack. I mean,
you go get you got two capable running backs and
then Aaron Jones pretty salty up and coming defense that
you've added to this offseason with some free agent acquisitions.

(54:55):
We'll see if we'll see if Jeffrey Akuda can turn
things around. I don't know. I just I think the
most fascinating and I flip flop on it. So Viking
fans don't get mad at me. One week, I'm not
buying JJ McCarthy. The next week, I look at that division, Brion,
I'm like, well, who really is the favorite Detroit Lions.
Vegas loves them, and they should, but it's not easy

(55:20):
to replace two offensive two coordinators. You got to replace
with your offense and your defensive coordinators. And it's not
just offensive coordinators are important. They matter in this game.
And Ben Johnson is a pretty good one. Now, Dan
Campbell's had an incredible history of replacing coordinators, but both
Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson, it's gonna be tough. Now

(55:43):
you've shift Ben Johnson to Chicago that everyone seems to
love what the Bears have done. But we talked about this,
what was last week or two last week? Will Caleb
be that guy? A flip flop like crazy on that,
and then Green Bay kind of they are what they are,
you know, they're they're gonna fight for the division lead,
They're gonna blow in the playoffs, and we'll continue to

(56:06):
have a conversation about Jordan Love. Unfair maybe, but they're
gonna be there. But how good will they be? I
think it's the most fascinating division in the NFL and
the hardest one for me to call. In the Matt
Lafleur era, all that the Packers have done is when
they're amazing. They've had one season that was under five

(56:29):
hundred under Matt Lafleur. Outside of that, listen, I mean
thirteen and three, thirteen and three, thirteen and four, eight
and nine, nine and eight, and then eleven and six.
But what are they not doing? They're not advancing in
the playoffs. In his ara, they've got three playoff ones,
which I would take. But this is Green Bay, Man,
that expectation level is a little bit higher. So is

(56:52):
this the year where Jordan Love makes a jump? Is
it JJ McCarthy bursting onto the scene finally in an
offense with the coach that's gonna take advance of his
unique skill set, or is it a Dan Campbell's got
to cook it? The Lions have the roster, doesn't matter
who the coordinators. Are they're gonna win? Is it a
rebirth in Chicago? I just I think it's bree right now.

(57:13):
It's the hardest division for me because it's easy to say, oh,
the Lions are gonna win it, because the Lions are
the favorite, right It's easy to say that. But I
think there's deeper questions all over this division right now,
I'm fascinated by it.

Speaker 3 (57:23):
So the Vikings have the same over under as the Steelers.

Speaker 2 (57:28):
Eight and a half, eight and a half really, so.

Speaker 3 (57:30):
I would actually take the over on the Vikings. I
have favorite. I think like i'd probably like at nine.

Speaker 2 (57:37):
Maybe that's a nine and eight season.

Speaker 3 (57:39):
I can see that. I think that has I think
that's that has a higher chance of happening than like
the Steelers going over eight and a half. That's like
my guess. I look at the schedule between the two.

Speaker 2 (57:50):
There's an interesting schedule for him. You know, you open
up in Chicago and then you get at Lanta, Cincinnati
and Pittsburgh get home and back to back to back
weeks for Minnesota and one of those games I stay
at home. Excuse me, one of those games is overseas.
I apologize, but it's considered a home game. So you
get a Sunday night game with the Falcons, you get
an afternoon game with the Bengals, and then you go

(58:12):
overseas for a showdown with the Steelers, and that's gonna
be the Dublin game.

Speaker 4 (58:16):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (58:17):
I don't know, man. I want to buy them because
I really like Kevin O'Connor. I like them a lot,
but it's it's been hard for me. And here's the
other thing is last year gonna be one of those
seasons that we look back at where they just kind
of caught lightning in a bottle and you know, things
just clicked between head coach and quarterback. And now we'll

(58:39):
watch Now we'll I say, Kevin O'Connor, Kevin O'Connell, excuse me.
Now we'll watch Sam Donald go to Seattle and struggle
or be amazing. You know what, is this a Sam
Donald rebirth or was it just O'Connell knowing how to
fit a quarterback into a system and it just worked.
I ain't gonna It's one of the most intriguing you

(59:00):
I think we've had in Minnesota in a long time,
just because of the unknown around the quarterback position and
the fact that this was allegedly the handpicked guy. You know,
give credit where credit is due. Here is a here
is a dude in two of his three seasons that
has won thirteen or more games, thirteen and four in
his first year, quarterback injuries decimated the position. In twenty three,

(59:23):
won seven games fourteen and three. The following season. But
what haven't they done under the forty year old head coach.
Minnesota has n't won a playoff game. They feel good
about the direction, They got a great general manager. I
just'm having a hard time buying them right now. Hard time.
All right, quick break when we come back. Your calls

Speaker 2 (01:00:36):
Alright, it's a Plank Show here on Fox Sports Radio
with Brie and Mark. I'm Chris Plank. You can find
us on the Twitter Machine, I'm at Plank Show or
the X Machine, whichever way you go about it. A
Brie is a very easy fine at Brie Denise twenty
six and of course we have Bully Mark into Twitter,

(01:01:00):
Adamark Ramsey six nine five. Oh uh, just just get
some calls. Going baseball tonight, man Ronald Acuna Junior had
one of the better throws that you'll see. But the
we are such prisoners of the moment sometimes, so it's
it's an amazing throw. It's an amazing throw. Some of

(01:01:23):
the act like you've never seen Jesse Barfield before. I
watched Bo Jackson's greatest throw I've ever seen in my life. Braves, Uh,
Braves won the game seventy three over the Yankees. But
I was watching, I was watching the Guardians. Guardians are
a rough spot right now, but I think they're pretty good.
I mean, I know they're a couple of games under

(01:01:43):
five hundred. They got, they got a few series coming
up against teams that I think it's fair to say
have struggled this year. They just came off the series
with the White Sox where they wrapped up the first
half of the Major League ball that before the All
Star breaking four or five over the White Sox. So
I I don't know. I think they're not gonna win

(01:02:06):
the division, even though Detroit's losing streak is now five.
But three straight Guardians playing some teams that a little
bit less than stellar might be a fair way to
put it. They got two more with the A's, and
they got the Oriols and the Royals, followed by Oh
look out the Rockies, maybe a little run coming for
Cleveland to start the post All Star Break part of

(01:02:28):
the season. And the Dodgers. Oh my gosh, the Dodgers
lose tonight. They get shut out by the Milwaukee Brewers.
Brewers have just kind of been a problem for the
dog for the Doyers this year, and two zip was
the final score. Though a kind of glass now was
back well Okay, you know, he looked pretty good. And
he has not been what he was expected to be

(01:02:49):
since the Dodgers acquired him, and one hundred percent of
that has to do with health. But he made its
first start, or at least its first appearance since April
twenty seventh. Went five, allowed just two hits and the
only running gave up was on Earn. So good comeback
for fore Glass. Now you are you a believer that
he can get things right for the Dodgers and help

(01:03:09):
this rotation out break? As my Dodger insider on the show.

Speaker 3 (01:03:12):
I think, as long as he stays healthy, of course,
I just think. I just think that whole starting pitching
just I just don't know if that's Are they ever
gonna be healthy? Just as a whole? Are we ever
just gonna say?

Speaker 2 (01:03:25):
Just it's crazy, it's insane And even if you look still,
guys are starting to come back, right Blake Snell was
throwing not too long ago. Otani's gonna throw three in
his next outing. It's starting to come together, But will
it stay that way? May Hey yo, d'st mays. I
think Dustie May's look pretty good. I'm but I keep
waiting for something to happen to him that horrible.

Speaker 3 (01:03:48):
We're just waiting for that, that notification it's gonna pop up.

Speaker 2 (01:03:51):
Yeah, and by the way, that doesn't make bless his heart,
like the most random injuries that that he's had to
deal with. But and again things haven't necessarily been smooth.

Speaker 3 (01:04:01):
For him with the blisters.

Speaker 2 (01:04:04):
Yeah, pushes five. He's gonna be the guy that is gonna,
according to reports, potentially be the guy that's gonna pitch
behind show hey on Monday. I mean, I still believe
in him. Don't get me wrong. I know that I
know that it hasn't been pretty. But like you said,
blisters when he last pitched in that Friday game against

(01:04:27):
the Giants where he walked four, struck out four in
just four and two thirds, gave up seven runs. Well,
we'll see if he's going to factor into this for
the Dodgers. All right, let's get you calls eight seven
seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine ninety
six six three sixth nine. I mentioned earlier I needed
to hear from my guy Emmett. He has come through
for us. Emmett, Welcome to Fox Sports Radio up in Olympia, Washington.

(01:04:48):
How's it going frist plank.

Speaker 4 (01:04:50):
I'm doing good.

Speaker 13 (01:04:51):
How about you?

Speaker 2 (01:04:52):
I'm good, I'm good, I'm ready. I'm obviously ready for football.
That's that's where I am right now.

Speaker 4 (01:04:57):
You're ready to watch football. You're ready to work with
the the Triple Dipper this weekend as you're doing tomorrow
show and then he got Sunday with the Great Arnold.

Speaker 12 (01:05:04):
Oh you're right.

Speaker 2 (01:05:04):
I forgot about Sunday Night show, that's right.

Speaker 3 (01:05:07):
And Monday.

Speaker 2 (01:05:08):
Oh yeah, and i'ment on Monday too. So if you
don't like me, not a good three day stretcher on
Fox Sports Radio in it, not at all?

Speaker 14 (01:05:15):
Are you?

Speaker 4 (01:05:15):
Are you with Jason and Mike? Are in for Jason?

Speaker 2 (01:05:17):
I'm with Mike. Jason is going on vacation shown, so
Jason will be out.

Speaker 4 (01:05:22):
I'm assuming that I'm not gonna lie to you, Chris.
I didn't hear the first couple of segments because I
got back from the gym. I'm assuming you want me
to talk about Damian Lillard exactly exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:05:31):
That's why Ian. What what have you made of his return?
I think there was also a Seahawks take in there somewhere,
But what have you made of his return to Portland?
Are you. I love it. I think it's cool. I'm
not somebody that's getting out. How dare you return to Portland?
I think it's awesome. What's kind of been the feel
around that neck of the nape? Nape of the neck.

Speaker 4 (01:05:48):
So that's a really good question. Honestly, I thought about it,
and there's no reason to be mad. It's like Damian Lillard.
He left for a very valid reason because we couldn't
get him the talent that he needed and it was
looking like the Portland Trail Blazers are going into more
of a rebuild, right and he comes back and he's
just keep in mind he's not playing next year with
that Achilles injury, so you're not gonna have to worry

(01:06:08):
about that another year for the Blazers to get better.
I mean, there's a chance that he could win something
with our franchise, and I think that as a Blazers fan,
I had no like bad intentions on Damian Lillard when
he asked out, because I agreed with them. I thought
that what we were doing wasn't, you know, sustainable to
win a championship, and I thought he'd have a better
chance that Yannis. It didn't work, so I don't get

(01:06:30):
why people are mad about it. I mean, three years,
forty two million, I never expected him to go back
to Portland. But this really shows that even Damian Lillard
believes that we can be a contender. I mean, we
got guys like Danny Abdiya, Scoot Henderson's developing, she and
Sharp's developing like Mani Kamara. We got all these guys
that can really turn into something. And I think Dane's
looking at those young guys like I want to come

(01:06:51):
be that leader. And I love this city. My family's
still here. That's why the Bucks released me because I
couldn't rehab in Portland, So why not just come back
and play with a franchise that put me in the
spot that Matt.

Speaker 2 (01:07:02):
Now you know what's interesting to me too, is how
we never take that into consideration as sports fans. We
never do. Everyone's said, well, why does he wants to
go he wants to win, he needs to go to Boston,
He's to side with the Lakers or who else was
being mentioned. There is a potential uh for him. I
think if someone had floated maybe Houston. I don't think that.
But the point is, I.

Speaker 4 (01:07:20):
Say one more thing quickly, because yeah, other people. So
the thing is with like and usually I am on
my hater energy when somebody leaves. What's the difference between
like Damian Lillard and we'll go to Russell Wilson here
with the Seahawks. Russell Wilson was doing all this cryptic stuff,
like his agent was doing all these things. He came
on the Dan Patrick Show and like kind of dropped
the hint at it back in twenty twenty one. Damian

(01:07:42):
Lillard tried to stick it out. Like he tried. It
just wasn't very feasible for him to win a championship.

Speaker 2 (01:07:48):
Yeah, and I think we don't take that into consideration.
A lot, right, and an appreciate phone call, man, thanks
for coming through. We get so caught up in well,
don't they want to win? They just want to go
to Portland and get a check. No, he want to
go to Portland because it's around their family, like playing there.
They like to like to fan base beloved. That's some
amazing moments. I mean, the Portland Trailblazers had been to

(01:08:12):
the Western Conference Finals until this season more recently than
the Knicks had been to the Eastern Conference Finals. I mean,
it's just it's a team that's a long way off.
But I mean, so is Damian Lillard from playing again.
You're not gonna play next year with the achilles injury.
I thought it was I'm not gonna lie. It was shocking. Oh,
Golden State was the other team. I'm sorry, I said, Houston,
Golden State. I fully expected to see a report that

(01:08:34):
he was gonna sign with Boston and stash away for
a year and then come back with Jason Tatum and
Dame Lillard and just have a full on rebuilt team
around those two. I wouldn't have been surprised at all
if it was gonna be Golden State and there was
gonna be one final run with Steph and Draymond and
Jimmy Butler and boom, here's Damian Lillard but going to Portland.

(01:08:57):
Pretty cool, man, Pretty cool? All right, it's good back
the phones, Poppy and San Diego. Let's get some pigs going.
What's going on, Poppy?

Speaker 13 (01:09:03):
How are you goodn't you?

Speaker 2 (01:09:06):
I hit my parlay last week?

Speaker 16 (01:09:08):
Man, maybe not bling bling. I like that when you
hit in that part league. We're all making money.

Speaker 14 (01:09:13):
I like that.

Speaker 16 (01:09:13):
Congrass.

Speaker 2 (01:09:14):
Yeah, it's you know, it's the NBA Summer League. I'm
pretty much an expert on it. How are you doing, Poppy,
You went in some bets. What do you got for
us tonight?

Speaker 16 (01:09:21):
Yeah? Good, good, good, Yeah, I got I got some pics.
I was gonna take some quick thoughts, so quick, and
then get into her picks. Look, I'm not surprised with
Daniel Leonard talking about baby back with Dymion Leonard and
went back with the Portland Blazers. If you guys saw
all the science he was over there in Milwaukee, his.

Speaker 13 (01:09:35):
Family was living over there in Portland.

Speaker 16 (01:09:36):
I'm not surprised at all. And I'm happy he went
back to Portland where his heart heart belongs and his
family's there, and you know, Holler and James. He was
talking about Kevin O'Connell. You know you could trust them
all right, Frank, you could trust them to San Diego
State alumni. He's a great coach. His mentor is Kevin O'Connell.
And bring you onto something. I think you're cooking over

(01:09:58):
nine wins. I think that took a good buck is
going to happen with you know, JJ McCarthy, you should
start last season.

Speaker 13 (01:10:04):
He's gonna start.

Speaker 16 (01:10:05):
The Vikings are in a good position and now going
on with the pick. Chris, you know a great show
going on tomorrow UFC eighteen.

Speaker 2 (01:10:15):
I can't wait.

Speaker 16 (01:10:16):
Yes, yeah, I can't wait either. I'm a UFC guru
and I got three fights for you, and we're gonna
do your style, like your par Lake. The first fight
that I'm interested in, it's Michael Johnson against Daniel Sabinetta
from Mexico.

Speaker 14 (01:10:31):
Right.

Speaker 16 (01:10:31):
He's a great striker. He pushes forward, he has a
lot of strength, a lot of late kicks, and the
line light now is at minus five hundred and fifty.
I really love him.

Speaker 2 (01:10:41):
To win, but you like Johnson to win.

Speaker 16 (01:10:44):
Daniel Daniel Sabinera Daniel Ye Daniel Sabanara minus five hundred
and fifty. And the second fight, it's a co main event.
It's Paula co star. He's from Brazil against Roman Kaplie
from Russia. Right, plum cos.

Speaker 13 (01:11:01):
He was a good fighter.

Speaker 16 (01:11:01):
He was in there, he was going to fight for
the bell, but after he fir Tamaiah he kind of
lost it. He's been kind of going downhill. He's not good,
he hasn't been winning. And Romans from Russia is really good.
He has a lot of strength. When he's punches, he'll
knock people out. Maybe if you guys want to do
a propt doing the knockout, but we're just gonna go
with Roman Coppolada from him winning minus two twenty five.

Speaker 14 (01:11:24):
He's just straight out.

Speaker 16 (01:11:25):
We're just doing the part him winning, guys, and take
the best for last. We got the main event.

Speaker 13 (01:11:31):
It's Max Holloway.

Speaker 16 (01:11:32):
He's a b ANX champion against Dustin Perramier Dustin Purrier
from Louisiana. The fight's be in Louisiana, guys, his last
fight retirement to and what I retirement tour right at
home state. And what I really love about this in
the press conference today, Chris, when he was right there,
everybody was brewing up. He's like, yeah, keep on brewing

(01:11:52):
me bringing more more respect to Dustin. Showed Dustin respect.
He's like, yeah, bringing on. So Max Holloway is getting motivated.
At plus one hundred, that's Steven money. He's the Champion's
going to be good. And I just feel like dust
stand he's just gonna it's like a fair world tour.
He's not gonna bring it because these tickets are way

(01:12:12):
too expensive. And another thing I was gonna say, like
about a blind sky, you know what he was saying,
like sometimes he has no idea.

Speaker 13 (01:12:20):
Where he is.

Speaker 16 (01:12:21):
And then like with the trash, what do you saying
about Boston? Like New York's got a bigger problem. You know,
they got rats over there as big as a cat,
So they got a trash problem. This bad nationwide. So
hopefully we get these problems fixed nation wide with the
trashes and people clean up our trash.

Speaker 2 (01:12:36):
You know, thanks for the call. Appreciate it, Poppy, appreciate it.
I I don't know why you guys fight so much
mal or militia. I just pull back a bit, and
I'm grateful. I'm grateful that you guys hang and check
in on the Saturday Morning show. And I'm sure you

(01:12:58):
do the same for Burnie. Bernie's out, so I'm gonna
be in for him tomorrow, but only smokes man like
between Mike the leper Kahn, my Man Shane and des
Moines is just like trying to lay waste to Mike
the lepre Kahn. Then you all trying to take shots
of blind Scott who fires back at you. I mean,
what why is there so much turmoil and inner fighting

(01:13:22):
within the Malard Militia. I don't I don't get it. Yeah, Poppy,
Ben Mallard's padawan. You know, Jedi and the Padawan, and
he got Poppy that's out here trying to, I guess,
kind of take a little shot blind Scott. I don't
know if you would consider that. I'm gonna yes, I'm
gonna go ahead.

Speaker 16 (01:13:40):
Yes.

Speaker 11 (01:13:41):
So there's a maland militia. There's all these people, all
the various callers, and certain people appear to try to
jump in front of everybody, and so militia is mad
that somebody is attempting to be in front and.

Speaker 2 (01:13:57):
To be Ben's Ben's number one.

Speaker 10 (01:14:05):
Is this get in line, get back?

Speaker 2 (01:14:08):
This is about This is about Mark wanting to be
Ben Mahler's top friend on MySpace? Is what it is?
You want to go back to the.

Speaker 3 (01:14:15):
Day in the top eight.

Speaker 11 (01:14:16):
Yeah, they're they're, they're they seem to be in their
minds inching up to be one of his favorites. And
they're like, no, no, no, get in line. You're behind me,
you're behind me, you're behind me.

Speaker 3 (01:14:27):
It's like brothers and sisters. I feel like.

Speaker 2 (01:14:32):
They just I mean, my mentions are an s show anyway,
because you know they've got this feature now where you're
gonna ask groc who are the I guess Twitter feeds
that you're most like. So my my mentions are already
a mess. But if they're not a mess from that,

(01:14:52):
then my guy and the Moyne Shane is fighting with
someone and Mike the leprechauns calling someone out, and then
it's just why I think I'm here for it. But
I also think, as one great man once said, can't
we all just get along? We're all here for the
same purpose. And apparently it is in It is to
be in Ben's top eight on his MySpace page. All right, listen,

(01:15:16):
we got a break. When we come back, we'll be
heading two Iowa. We're into Las Vegas. Oh, Mike the
Leprechaun is on hold, and we got Breeze three coming
up right around the corner right here on Fox Sports Radio.
All right, welcome back in Fox Sports Radio. It's funny.
Before the show started, said Brie, you know what, I'm

(01:15:37):
turning over a new leaf tonight. We're gonna get all
the reads done.

Speaker 3 (01:15:41):
Early I was wondering about that.

Speaker 2 (01:15:44):
Don't forget. You can check out our Fox Sports Radio
YouTube channel. All kinds of great videos from many of
our Fox Sports Radio shows. Just search Fox Sports Radio
on YouTube and you'll see all of the video highlights
from our shows. And be sure to subscribe to you
always have instant access to all of our Fox Sports
Radio videos. Yeah, I'm a it's weird where I where

(01:16:08):
our Oklahoma studios are for our Friday night into Saturday
morning shows. I had to take a quick little walk
during the break. Gorgeous night outside, just gorgeous, bree, and
I realized I'm in the darkest, the darkest of dark,
blackest of black areas. Just as far as the sky,
you can't see anything but the moon and the stars.

(01:16:29):
It is gorgeous. And then all of a sudden, there's
like this beaming light from the studio. People drive by.
I say, what the hell is that guy doing in
this garage this late at night. We're spitting fire, is
what we're doing, baby, by any means to get you
all the hottest sports stakes on the planet. All right,
NBA Expansion College Football Playoffs twelve or sixteen. Nick Saban's future,

(01:16:53):
and we've talked a little bit, a little bit. We
got more on just the Steelers. Steelers in the Vikings
seem at it's like two weeks in a row that
the Steelers have been in our crosshairs, if you will.
But the Steelers in the Vikings in two fascinating teams
I think heading into this season, and as you mentioned,
bring both at eight and a half in the over under.

(01:17:13):
And to me, that's the great unknown, right You put
a team at eight point five, you really don't know
what they're gonna be. It's like, ah, feel pretty good
about him, not that good, don't think they're gonna suck,
but don't necessarily know they're gonna be competing for a division.
And to me, I mean, that's just it's a tough

(01:17:35):
place to be as a fan, right because you you
kind of you kind of want and want to believe
that you're gonna be better than you are, but then
you realize there's there is a chance for true disaster.
So last check, here were the teams at eight and
five are eight and a five in three two one

(01:17:56):
at eight point five. They are the Vikings, the Steelers,
the Patriots, the Seahawks, Cowboys, Bears, and Cardinals. Weird place
to be with some teams that I think in years
past we've looked at and said, hey, I think they

(01:18:16):
might have a run in them. I'm looking at you, Dallas.
So if you were to say your confidence meter, which
one team right now of those seven that we mentioned,
Brie Mark, I know you would pick the Bears, but
which one of these seven would you feel most confident saying, Hey,
I think they're going to hit the over eight and
a half right now, that's an eclectic grip of squats

(01:18:39):
right there.

Speaker 3 (01:18:40):
I think the Vikings. I want to believe in Minista,
you're gonna pick the Steelers.

Speaker 2 (01:18:45):
I'll take the Steelers right and again. That's now I'm
kind of on a Steelers kick right now. I think
they're going to be better than Bree's giving them credit
for anything with Arizona.

Speaker 3 (01:18:56):
Mm Mmm, I can't. I can't get on the vandwagon.
I don't know if it's like a fantasy football thing
for me too, Like I can't.

Speaker 10 (01:19:06):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (01:19:06):
I hate to think that way because like I don't
know if like, oh gosh, Trey McDonald.

Speaker 2 (01:19:13):
Yeah, are you talking about the tight end with Trey McBride.

Speaker 3 (01:19:16):
Yeah, I think he kind of screwed me last year
in one of my fantasy teams. So I just like
I lost that trust in their offense, Like I don't
I just I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:19:25):
It's a fascinating group of skill players, that's for certain,
starting with Kyler, right, James James Connor is one of
those guys that you kind of forget about and then
all of a sudden it's like, hey, who's that single
digit guy that's running all over people for the car?
Oh it's James Connor. They don't get dinged up and disappear.
I think it could be a big year for Marvin

(01:19:45):
Harrison Junior. You bring Zay Jones over, he's a little
bit this great I don't want to say this, grace,
but just didn't really kind of live up to the
hype in Jacksonville Michael Wilson's back. I don't know, dude.
I they would be of the those teams that we
just mentioned. Where's my list at at eight and a half?
Right now? They would they in the Patriots? I think

(01:20:07):
I would put in that least likely category, right.

Speaker 3 (01:20:10):
I can't believe the Patriots are on that list.

Speaker 2 (01:20:13):
Everyone's drunk on him right now. Oh wow, they're drunker
on the Patriots than anyone else. It's crazy.

Speaker 3 (01:20:19):
Was that did that happen with Jeff Saturday, like when
he like like before his season as a head coach.

Speaker 2 (01:20:26):
Well, I remember he just got that the second half
he came in as the interim. People kind of lost
their minds whenever he was with. Of course, the only
team he beat was the Raiders.

Speaker 3 (01:20:36):
I know, I see. Like I said, I was like, oh,
that's not good.

Speaker 2 (01:20:39):
It's one of those moments where I'm just like, what
are we doing? What are we even doing right now?
But I think with Rabel, people are kind of believing
that there's enough talent on that Patriots roster where he
can get things right. And I think a lot of
people like Drake May too. Eight and a half, I mean,
it's not the Patriot way. Still eight and a half
fascinating number seven very interesting teams. Will continue to dive

(01:20:59):
in them, dive into them with your calls coming up
next right here on Fox Sports Radio. Stick around.

Speaker 1 (01:21:06):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (01:21:09):
That's all final hour. Where did this show go? It's
Cooking Fellas coming up. K Thig the Great Kevin Figures
is in coming up next. We got Breeze three right
around the corner, and your calls, I see guys lined
up got a little carried away in the over under

(01:21:30):
bet totals for the eight and a half teams. I'm
just there's a lot of unique situations in that eight
point five category, if you will, and two teams that
I can't quite figure out. I'm just gonna win. I
will waffle like crazy on both Pittsburgh and Minnesota. But
I think it's okay to do that this time of year, right,
you don't need to have a solid take. Whenever you're

(01:21:53):
still forty two days away from kickoff, you can change
from injuries are gonna happen. We're gonna to get reports
from training camp about how good and bad guys are
gonna look. Which is gonna shape hour takes. I don't
think it's gonna shape Vegas and its numbers suit terribly much.
But for tonight, I'm all in on the Steelers and
I'm out on the Vikings. Now join us tomorrow night,

(01:22:15):
when I'm in for Bernie b you could be the
exact opposite. I'm like, you know what, did a little
bit more studying during the day. I'm in on Minnesota
and I'm out on Pittsburgh. It's just hard you flip
flop back and forth because you just don't know that
college football has been really hard. You know, today they
release the All SEC team and the SEC preseason pool,
and it's kind of wild whenever you look up and

(01:22:36):
down it to just see how how much unknown there
is at the quarterback position in the SEC. The teams
that are picked to finish first, second, third in the
SEC Texas, George and Alabama all that first year of
starting quarterbacks. You don't get to a veterans starting quarterback

(01:22:57):
until the fourth team in LSU, and you kind of
start looking around, all right, So you get a returning
quarterback at LSU at four. South Carolina has a returning
quarterback at five, who's at six, Oh Florida. They've got
DJ Lagway he can stay healthy. Then it's seven, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, fourteen.
It's all new quarterbacks. So a wild year in the SEC,

(01:23:21):
and the debate will roll on beyond just the on
the field conversations. Will we see a playoff in the
future that's going to be a sixteen team playoff? Will
we get closer to understanding what that format is going
to look like? Big ten Media Day start this week.
We'll see what their Commissioner Tony Petiti says, ACC Media
Day starts this week. We'll see what Jim Phillips has
to say. Is there anything I'm missing out? Oh, I've

(01:23:44):
got this Sun stuff. I want to get you before
we get out. Don't let me forget. Don't let me
forget because they're talking about more moves for your Phoenix Suns, Bree,
more moves. All right, where do you want to start?
You want to go to Iowa?

Speaker 3 (01:23:57):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:23:58):
All right? T are you very patient? What's going on?
Tr Welcome to Fox Sports Radio. How are you great?

Speaker 19 (01:24:03):
Show?

Speaker 5 (01:24:04):
Tonight? You mentioned that eight and a half number, and
I had to check myself for a minute to remember
it's a seventeen game schedule. Still had my mind right
games when you said that, and Bree that Jeff Saturday reference.
I mean, I thought he was relegated to a level
of purgatory reserved for the Coldplay couple. I mean, we

(01:24:26):
now know, we now know how Belichick and Jordan met
because they they wouldn't say how they met, but now
we know it was Coldplay.

Speaker 13 (01:24:35):
Cold the biggest.

Speaker 5 (01:24:37):
Story of the week, And as you go through your shows,
I'd like to know, I'd like to figure out what
is the actual impetus for us is just wanted to
bury those people to that level, people that have been
totally canceled. But but let's get back to Breeze's take
on the pitching. It begins and in and pitching. And
I think that was great take Breed. When you talked

(01:24:59):
about the injury, I was thinking about, you know, the
Dame Lillard injury, the Tyree Halliburton injury, the achilles injuries
that have played the NBA. You don't see pictures really
going down with that. It's more of a fluky type
of injury. Regarding my question, well, I had another taken

(01:25:19):
about the Big Ten and you mentioned the Big Ten
in the SCC. The Big Ten is totally different now
Iowa kind of a middle level.

Speaker 14 (01:25:29):
Oh and by the way, Oh.

Speaker 5 (01:25:31):
I think I don't know if you I got to
change directions because I just thought about you're in Oklahoma.
You mentioned the great Bob Stoops. Do you think Bob
Bowlsby when he didn't hire Bob Stoops to be the
coach at Iowa, actually knew he was going to do
the future Big Twelfth Commission.

Speaker 2 (01:25:46):
And that he would eventually have to deal with them
at some point, Yeah, probably not, but I'll tell you
what you know. I talked to Bob's on my local
radio show every single week, and it's pretty cool to
see just how much reverence and care he still has
for his alma mind. It's really it's red saw iim
in Iowa gear a couple of years ago. Would they
I think they were paying tribute to Hayden Fry and
one of their one of their Big Ten teams. But yeah,

(01:26:08):
it's it's really cool to see how that man still
loves his alma mater well.

Speaker 5 (01:26:12):
And he and his brothers played here, and I heard
that he still said Joe Hawks to his wife every
day before their OEU games. The and the thing is too,
it was because of the process that he didn't get hired.
He wanted the Iowa job. Boldsby had to go through
this committee and it didn't happen. The rest is history,
and congrats to Owe you for that one.

Speaker 13 (01:26:35):
And Jenny Bronchick, You're welcome for her.

Speaker 2 (01:26:37):
She's awesome, fantastic.

Speaker 5 (01:26:39):
But as far as the Big Ten goes, you know,
if I was got Iowa State on their schedule, they
got Penn State, but and they got Wisconsin and Nebraska.
But now you got Oregon, you've got to go to USC.
The last time iowall play the USC, John McKay was coaching,
Pat Ayden was quarterback. I mean Iowa struggled going lest

(01:27:00):
I think the Big Ten has improved a lot with
these former Fact twelve teams. If we looked at those
teams like they were still in the Pac twelve, we
would say, it's a very very difficult schedule.

Speaker 2 (01:27:11):
Appreciate the funk call. It's you know, it's weird. I am.
I was working with EJ. Manual today name Dropper, and
we were asking the question about the familiarity, the familiarity
of understanding who's where, and when he said that, he
brought up the possibility of like Iowa playing the USC's

(01:27:34):
of the world and the Oregons of the world. That
still doesn't register me as a conference game, man, Like, wait,
that's a conference game. That's that's a conference matchup between
So I'm still a little bit slow whenever it comes
to that. Sometimes butterfly effect, man, you go back to
you go back to Bob Stoops in nineteen ninety nine,

(01:27:55):
whenever he took the Oklahoma job. David Bourne, the president
and at the time of Oklahoma had offered him the job.
Bob said, I want to I still need to talk
to Iowa, and David Boren said, let's just let's get
this done now, and so Bob made a courtesy called
ioways I really feel like I need to go and decided,

(01:28:16):
you know what, I'm gonna stay here and take this job.
If Bob Stoops would have made that trip to Iowa,
I don't know if he was ever gonna be the
Oklahoma coach. It's crazy, and there is one thing, you know,
in conference realignment, you know, I just don't ever see
a great rivalry developing between Iowa and USC or you know,
may Purdue and Washington. Right, some of these matchups are

(01:28:40):
just weird and it's taken a long time to get
used to. But in the end, I still think I
was going to be one of those teams that you
look up at the end of the year, like, dang,
they've only lost two games. They're in some way, shape
or form in this Their offen is going to be
better than people think. I'm bullish on eye with a

(01:29:00):
shere man. I think they're going to be better than
people expect. I really do tr all right, let's see
if we can fit in three more before breeze three.
How's that sound, Brie? You think we can do it
three for three? Robert in Las Vegas? What's going on? Robert?

Speaker 13 (01:29:15):
Chris? How you doing?

Speaker 2 (01:29:16):
Outstanding?

Speaker 5 (01:29:17):
Man?

Speaker 2 (01:29:17):
Thanks for calling.

Speaker 13 (01:29:19):
Yeah, listen. I was just with some friends and we
were watching the Ronald Dacuna play and everybody was oohing
and on and I didn't really react, and they were like,
what's wrong with you? I said, guys, I was born
and raised in Pittsburgh. Roberto Clemente makes that throw in
a sweep. I've seen that throw a million times.

Speaker 2 (01:29:42):
It was funny. I was listening to Jason and Mike
right before we came on, and Mike Harmon said something
very similar. It's like, hey, you know we've seen this
throw before. Is it a great throw? Absolutely? But I mean,
like you said, Robert, you saw Roberto Clemente. I was
Raoul mondsey Man. I was a Dodgers fan. He had

(01:30:02):
an absolute laser. Guys like Jesse Barfield. I mean, it's
okay to say, hey, it's a really good play. You
know it was neat, but everything's got to be the
greatest thing we've ever seen right.

Speaker 13 (01:30:14):
And by the way, after acting Clente, I watched Parker.
Dave Parker can't make He made Ni slip too. But
the second thing, real quick is for our Minnesota Vikings fans.
I was married to a Michigan grad. I watched more
Michigan football than I care to. J. J. McCarthy is

(01:30:39):
not the answer. You're in for a big you're in
for a big letdown.

Speaker 2 (01:30:44):
You know. I appreciate the phone call, Robert. What is
every highlight that you see of JJ McCarthy in a
Vikings uniform? It's one quarter of action in an exhibition
game against like the Raiders third stringers. I get it.
I get it. He won a national championship, but there
was really one game when it was on his arm.

(01:31:07):
And some might say, well, he wasn't asked to do more.
He didn't need to do more. Michigan was more of
a run based offense, and that's fine. I get it.
Kevin O'Connell's going to do incredible things with him. I
don't doubt that at all. But that's a lot. That's
a lot.

Speaker 3 (01:31:26):
What were Sam Donald's highlights before he came to the Vikings.

Speaker 2 (01:31:29):
That's true, it was I think after one game Jason
Smith put him in like the Hall of Fame. Didn't
have like a very good first game and kind of
the bottom fell out.

Speaker 3 (01:31:38):
The same thing with Jalen Brunts and the best Nick ever.

Speaker 2 (01:31:40):
So you're a J. J.

Speaker 3 (01:31:41):
McCarthy believer, then I think I'm a believer that Kevin
O'Connell can make some quarterback magic.

Speaker 2 (01:31:50):
Because, in all honesty, no one had been able to
do what he did with Sam Donald exactly. And Sam
was even in San Francisco for a while. Apparently somebody
even thought, you know, he might be a dude that
could have been called upon if there were well he
was going to be the deal been called upon if
they were injuries. But if he if Kyle Shanahan couldn't

(01:32:11):
get anything more out of him, and then boom, you
get that with Minnesota. All right, maybe we do have
ourselves a quarterback whisper Jerome is in Charleston. He always
brings the heat. Good morning, Jerome, how are things out
in Charleston?

Speaker 13 (01:32:25):
Nice and warms? We're gonna be in the nineties. Get
a stay inside.

Speaker 2 (01:32:30):
He did that.

Speaker 13 (01:32:30):
Ain't going you fans something? Hey, I grew up with
a fan. I don't know about the DC stuff. Hey,
you trop on a Bolshevik cancer Schmith. That guy's one
of the biggest Bolsheviks in the history of this country
or as far as radio goals, has anybody packed himself

(01:32:51):
on the back of enough? Well, I remember what I
said about it year ago. To remember what I tell
Hi about two weeks ago? I got a posing them
stuff I said about ten minutes ago. Okay, what kind
of memory? What kind of lie is that these talk
to horse? They get a weird refreshment lies, you know,
like this. One woman named Alex Curry said, well, darg

(01:33:13):
Bond should be in the hall fare because everybody was
cheating back then, which is a damn lie because there's
never been any evidence to prove that. Where'd the avidence
come from? Okay? And then and then they tell them, well,
Lebron Jams is one of the most overrated people around
in the NBA. I'm watching Jordan Highlight and what pops

(01:33:36):
up next? James one shots by Lebron Jams them at
least five of them. Okay, where did the twenty these
people come from? Man? I mean, does the credibility matter anymore?

Speaker 15 (01:33:48):
Know?

Speaker 13 (01:33:48):
Jerome, credibility doesn't matter I'll ask the question for you.
And as far as kirk Parents goes with IOWA, let
me cas to Mike Tomlin of college football. I don't
know if he's got naked pigures or whatever he's done,
but hey, they win seven eight games every year, and
then that'll be that. All right, I've done one the conference.

(01:34:10):
You're not gonna chant for the national championship. He's been
there forever. He's just like Tomlin Man Thomas. That guy
is so over it. He's got naked pictures of the
front office on the family. He asked, dude, he's just
not that good to me. Hey, when when Rustlers starting
to retire, that was the end of that. Okay. A

(01:34:32):
lot of these coaches these do call himself coach. Hey,
they got this Doyle your network another okay, coach. His
damn team was four and twenty eight. You gotta earn
the right to be a call the coach.

Speaker 14 (01:34:44):
You know, just student.

Speaker 13 (01:34:47):
You don't just give it him. Gave Lord to box
so much. Man, it's just chickening for me. Now, all right,
it's take me. I don't shach took about, I ain't
check them up. Well, I'll let you win for a Amishire.
You know he doesn't consider him eighty young Senners as
good as him, except joking. You know what, Hey, Chambla

(01:35:08):
was pretty good. Look at someone her records. Four championships
by the way, four one one. He was being carried
by Dwayne Waede. Okay, just remember that, Shack, Just remember that.

Speaker 2 (01:35:20):
Nobody say from Jerome tonight, see you, buddy Gosh. He
was on Jason, he was on Uh. Kirk Farns got
on Shock. I mean, man, Jerome was bringing the heat tonight.
Love it. One more call and then we're gonna get
to breeze three. Mike the leprecut Mike, why are you

(01:35:41):
fighting with everyone on Twitter? What's going on? Man?

Speaker 14 (01:35:44):
How are you okay? Top of the morning, Top of
the morning. Oh, I have my whole tipboard here. So
the good news is I hear you are back again
tomorrow night, so I will say, but it doesn't use.
I'm getting ready for the paloozer. I have my dog ready,
I have my guitarady and practicing. Man, I'm not sure

(01:36:05):
or the electric guitar anyway. I'm glad it's not it
says it's Oklahoma. I'm glad. It's life and doctor right.

Speaker 2 (01:36:12):
Oh, it's it's one hundred degrees. It's smoking o. It's
beautiful outside right now, but it's setting up to be scorcher. Yeah.

Speaker 16 (01:36:19):
Dark, it's dark.

Speaker 2 (01:36:21):
Yeah, yeah, it's dark. It's dark. God, he said. Nice.
I apologize, Mike. I need my mic the leprechaun interpretat
or interpreter sometimes.

Speaker 14 (01:36:28):
But anyways, okay, I'm very lively as you can tell,
get along on the mall of militia. There's only one
reason people hate me, and that's because they're jealous.

Speaker 2 (01:36:39):
They're jealous of you. You think they're jealous it because
of the relationship you have with Ben, or because of
your phone calls.

Speaker 14 (01:36:46):
No, because of my visits to Baron and he loves
me now although last year he gave me on the
range of the Palooza, you can go from zero to ten,
and last year he gave me minus ten. But this
year I dressed it up. I have a really good
song anyway, So the people I would roast if I
was doing the SPIS, I would roast Blind Scott for sure,

(01:37:08):
and Marcel and Holler and James is my top three.
But her dog said, I'm the best in studio caller
of all time, even though I got in trouble with
the security guard.

Speaker 2 (01:37:22):
But you work through that, you survived that, you were good.

Speaker 13 (01:37:25):
Right, I'm survived.

Speaker 14 (01:37:27):
I'm still not on the Lorraino's good books. By the way,
and Mark and Brie are brilliant. I mean I told
you that before. Oh yeah, I know anyway, but not
do I have so regard him the track in Boston,
so blind Scott, who has multiple personalities. He wants to
do two slots tomorrow, which is unacceptable. But anyway, one

(01:37:49):
time he admitted to tossing his crash out the window
at three o'clock in the morning and he didn't want
to hit somebody on the street. The only way he
knew or not knew is if somebody was down on
the street saying, oh as I hit by trash back
coming out of my windows. Jesus. Anyway, So Ben is no?
I like Ben is nice? Okay, what else do I have?

Speaker 13 (01:38:13):
Cold play?

Speaker 14 (01:38:14):
Cold play at at Jelag Stadium. We're brilliant too. I
was there and the whole drumbo tromp thing. Did you
see that about that?

Speaker 2 (01:38:21):
Oh yeah, oh yeah. It probably has been more entertaining
to me than anything in the sports world. Recently, I know,
but there's.

Speaker 14 (01:38:27):
No this is a this is a what did I
call it? The dB days of Summer. So the conspiracy
theory is that it was Bill Belichick and some girls
having an affair. You know, Oh my.

Speaker 2 (01:38:41):
God, that's your theory that you came up with from
the Coldplay concert.

Speaker 13 (01:38:47):
No, don't give me the Christians.

Speaker 14 (01:38:50):
It's not the okay, it's it's more predictable than the EPs,
SCEAM files, just so you know.

Speaker 2 (01:38:57):
All right, well, thanks anyway, appreciate Mike. Mike was kind
of all over the place. I would say, it wasn't
his best outing. You know, sometimes you have Oh we're
talking about Dusty May, right, that's Dustin.

Speaker 3 (01:39:11):
Sorry, I was gonna say Dusty Rhodes.

Speaker 2 (01:39:13):
Dustin Dustin Rohad's the American dream. It's hard times, Dustin may.
You know, you have a bad outing every now and then.
They all can't be bangers. I don't get the Belichick joke,
but I will say I think my favorite thing that
happened with the whole cold Play incident was just how

(01:39:35):
gullible we and the royal we are in that as
soon as a statement comes out, we all jump. It
was like, oh my gosh, you released his statement and
he blamed cold Play, and everybody ran with it all
day long. And then as the day progressed, the company
comes out. It's like, yeah, no, no statements have been
released by anybody yet. And then there was the HR

(01:39:56):
girl that apparently had tweeted that she got five because
she had bought the tickets, and then come to find
out no one had been fired yet. There was an
investigation ongoing. But Bri we fall for those stories right away.
It's like, oh my gosh, do you see that statement
heroutd It's like, yeah, it's not real. What, Yeah, it's

(01:40:16):
not someone someone just made that up. But what who
has the time to make something like that up and
just send out a statement like that? That's what I
want to know.

Speaker 3 (01:40:26):
Weird people.

Speaker 2 (01:40:29):
Mike the Leprecam, thank you for the phone call. Don't
fight with people. You guys all get along. Tearing up
my mentions right now? All right, we'll come back. Breeze

(01:42:52):
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app Breeze three. Take
it away, bree.

Speaker 3 (01:42:56):
Okay, So obviously we've been kind of talking about it
all now or in regards to the Coldplay fiasco of
the affair of the astronomer tech CEO being caught with
the VP of HR. Obviously we were talking about that.
I just I still don't understand why they had to
react that way, and it's just if they would have
just played it cool and acted like you deserve to

(01:43:18):
be there. Like you like, you guys will not there.
Nobody would have ever known. There's just no way. So
I so I thought, there's a concert, you know, some
people's probably had a lot of fun whatever there that
minus that, or it's gonna be a forever memory. I
guess Mike said that he was there. I don't know
if he was serious, but so I just thought, what

(01:43:38):
are our favorite three favorite concerts that we've been to?

Speaker 2 (01:43:42):
Three favorite concerts that we've been to?

Speaker 3 (01:43:45):
Yes, so three concerts, okay, So my first one I'm
gonna was so obvious bon Jovi. I know it's just
so cliche for me, but I have a reason why
that one of them. I've been to like twelve bon
Jovi concerts. But my my first, second, second one I've
ever been to was back in two thousand and two
and it was at the Arrowhead Pond which is now

(01:44:06):
the Hannas Center whatever, I don't care. So my mom
and I went and like we went to the box
office first, I think, just like ask something or something
about the tickets, and we got a free upgrade. Like
they were like, hey, like you guys want an upgrade,
We have like a few extra tickets, which I don't know.
Now I'm looking back, that's probably not a good thing.
But there was a lot of people there. I do

(01:44:26):
remember that it wasn't like an empty concert. But anyways,
but we were on the side of the stage and
so the beginning of the concerts we saw him walking
up and he literally came like super close to us
because we were super close, and he like waved at
us Sean bon Job, and so I did see how
short he was. Also that I said that kind of
like just that I will always remember that he's just
not that tall. But great, I mean, you know, I

(01:44:49):
still like I've listened to him for years. My favorite band,
John Bonjob. So anyway, that was my first concert. My
second one was the Rush fifty tour they went on
for I'm trying to think of the year that it was,
but I took my dad for uh for I think
it was his birthday and he loves Rush, so that

(01:45:09):
was like and actually his birthday is coming up on
Wednesday fifteen, Yeah, twenty fifteen, that sounds right, So he's
turning sixty on Monday, so happy birthday, time birthday, And
so that was incredible because that was just a whole
type like a whole set of people I'd never seen
before like that to a crowd. Yeah, is so definitely
new to me. But it was just so exciting and

(01:45:30):
Geddy Lee, like just to hear his voice live and
they were like they went through I want to say,
it was like a three hour show, like they were
just on it. Like I mean, they have so many
hits and I would say maybe they took like one
break maybe in between wow, and like it was just
it was unforgettable. And I mean I maybe knew like
what like five songs maybe, but I had so much fun.

(01:45:53):
It was it was just it was just so.

Speaker 2 (01:45:55):
You went to the fiftieth anniversary to it.

Speaker 3 (01:45:59):
Oh, okay, so that was insane.

Speaker 2 (01:46:01):
Now that was more recently, Yeah, because I went to
the fortieth anniversary tour, which launched in Tulsa and I
still lived in Tulsa, and it was it was like
twenty fifteen whenever they did it, whenever they had it,
and that was that was a rush forty Maybe That's.

Speaker 3 (01:46:21):
What I'm thinking of.

Speaker 2 (01:46:22):
Yeah, Oh, it was awesome.

Speaker 3 (01:46:24):
It was incredible.

Speaker 2 (01:46:25):
It doesn't seem right. I can't believe I my brother
in law went. We got so faded. Anyway, it was.
It was a good time. It was a good time.

Speaker 3 (01:46:34):
So that was that was that. That was my second
and then my third one. It was the New Kids
on the Block and Backstreet Boy combo, so it was
called NKOTBSB, So it was both of them together, and
I love the Backstree Boys, but I also have like
a new respect for New Kids on the Block because

(01:46:54):
that was after my time, you know, like before my time,
before my time, So it was that was all so incredible.
They also did they went kind of back and forth.
They did a few duets together, and so just channeled
my inner girl and it was it was really exciting.
So those are my three favorite concerts.

Speaker 2 (01:47:12):
I love it. Yeah, Rush was. I thought. The coolest
thing about Rush whenever I went was all the videos
they had, right they and they had this massive video board.
That was when I went. I'm assuming it was the
same tour, but they had like different cameos and they
did like bits from movies and there was a South
Park thing that was in there. It was it was

(01:47:34):
really really cool, all right, Mark, what you got?

Speaker 11 (01:47:38):
So not necessarily similarly in this order, but there was
a Carlos Santana concert I went to and local and
at the Great Adator. It was just great because of
all the history of Carlos Santana.

Speaker 10 (01:47:53):
He did Oh You Come of Us.

Speaker 11 (01:47:54):
I got to see him do that love and just
the various singers he had come up and do this song.
So that was a big deal to actually see Carlos
at the Greek theaters outside.

Speaker 10 (01:48:05):
It was a great night. It was.

Speaker 11 (01:48:07):
It was fantastic. Another big concert that I went to
was twenty ten. It was a Keith Urban concert and
after that concert, I was inspired to go buy my
first guitar and to start playing guitar on my own,
teach myself how to play, because it was just so fantastic.

Speaker 10 (01:48:27):
He did a little piece of.

Speaker 11 (01:48:30):
A Paul McCartney song, Silly Loved Songs. He was on
an acoustic and he did that. It was just spectacular
just what he did. So Keith Urban, and then the
greatest is going to see Elton John back in the
seventies when he was making a million.

Speaker 10 (01:48:48):
Dollars every month.

Speaker 11 (01:48:49):
So those are my big three Elton John, Keith Urban,
and Carlos Santana.

Speaker 2 (01:48:54):
Yeah, I was not I'm not necessarily what you would
call a big concert guy. It's not like I pushed
back against him. It's just if I'm gonna spend money,
I'm gonna go to a sporting event, right, But I've
been to some good ones, so it's gonna sound weird.

(01:49:15):
Number one, Number one the most amazing event I've ever
been event concert period, And it was right in the
heyday of everyone hating him. I went to a Marilyn
Manson concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the then named Brady Theater,
smaller venue, and it rocked. I mean, I'm not gonna

(01:49:37):
lie my buddy. At the time, this was this was
pre two thousand. This had to be like years with
a one and nine in front of him, might have
even been early two thousand. But I had a friend
of mine named Cameron Betts shout out to Cameron, if
you're listening, and he got two tickets, and he started
going through the list of friends and nobody wanted to go,

(01:49:58):
and I'm I was poor. I mean, I was a
part time radio guy, so I was making pennies and
he's like, do you want to go? I'm like, well,
how much you have to pay for tickets? He goes,
I'll take him, like I'm in. But then when I
got there, when I got there, there were people protesting outside,
like they had the picket signs and everything. I'm like, Oh,
they're gonna blow this place up. Wow, you know, I
could just see the craziness. And when I tell you,

(01:50:20):
because he was tearing pages out of the Bible, it
was it was George, it was Marilyn Manson in his prime.
It's like watching Jordan and his prime. I didn't know
any of the songs. I didn't know anything except for
his hits, and it was really good. It was awesome.
So that was number one for me. Number two Garth Brooks,

(01:50:42):
Oh two, Oh gosh, I say two years ago, handful
of years ago. Garth Brooks did like one final tour,
I mean every single artist as like one final tour,
and he came through Oklahoma and did two shows. I
needed more than two shows, but we did a night
where they did two shows in Oklahoma, and the show
that my wife and I went to and I got

(01:51:04):
started super late and it was really hot, so we
had to stay. We were waiting outside forever because there
was a show before and then the show after, and
then the show didn't get over until like three in
the morning because it started so late. And it was just, Hey,
you feel how you want about Garth Brooks, but the
man knows how to put on a show. So I

(01:51:25):
had that at number two. And then this one's very random.
The Eli Young man that I saw at the Great
River Way to Casino right down the street from my
house Beats and Bites, and I was the person that
introduced them on stage. I was the guy that walked
out there and God, the micros everyone.

Speaker 1 (01:51:41):
Having fun tonight?

Speaker 10 (01:51:42):
How are we doing?

Speaker 2 (01:51:44):
How great was that opening act? Make some noise for
so and sonners great height, like.

Speaker 1 (01:51:49):
You guys ready for the Eli Young band.

Speaker 2 (01:51:51):
Which again I then had to realize that it's not
some dude named Eli Young. It's just that here's Eli's
Like wait, hold on, that's what what hold on? But
it was really cool, and so that's why that experience
was a little bit different for me because I never
got to do anything like that. You know what the
old saying is that musicians always want to be athletes,

(01:52:13):
and athletes always want to be musicians. But for me,
that was great. But you didn't know many Rush songs
whenever you went to their concert.

Speaker 3 (01:52:22):
Yeah, I mean I think like my dad had given
me a list so I probably know more than I'm
like leaning on, but I think at that time, because
there's just so many I read Geddy Lee's book, I'm
like halfway through. I'm sorry, I'm like halfway. I haven't
finished it, but like I mean, and he kind of
goes behind the scenes on every song, and like literally
right now, I don't know any of these songs he's

(01:52:43):
talking about, like this is like the beginning of Rush,
and so then I have to like pull up Spotify
and then like listen to the song and then like
read this little chunk of him talking about how it
was created and the drama with like the recording studio
and YadA YadA. But wow, yeah it's good. It's a
great book. I totally recommend. But yeah, yeah, but I
don't know how to describe it. But there was just

(01:53:05):
something like I felt like I didn't need to know.
I was like I was like rocking out the whole time.

Speaker 2 (01:53:08):
No, no, I get it. I was whenever I was
a little kid, my neighbor which was like that, whenever
I was a little they were the high school kids,
like we played wiffle ball with them in football and
they were all big Rush fans. So it's kind of
like a part of my childhood. The first song I
ever called into request at a radio station was closer
to the heart. Oh right, yeah, Lori Foyle's didn't work.

(01:53:30):
She dumped me. But yeah, it's it's it's a It
was a great memory, man, that was a great concert.
A couple off Twitter here real quick, Nature Boy Eddie
has checked in. Eddie writes three concerts tool the ac
DC Razors Edge Tour, Stones, Guns n' Roses, and Living

(01:53:52):
Color at the LA Coliseum dam.

Speaker 3 (01:53:54):
At the end of that, Wow, dang, that's legit.

Speaker 2 (01:53:57):
Do you know you ever? My sister had always told
me that she was at the Guns n' Roses tour
in Saint Louis when they shut it down, like Axel
Rose got mad at somebody and shut down the whole concert. Yeah,
and she's like, you know what, it wasn't actually guns n' Roses.

(01:54:18):
It was someone else that I was at. And it's
like for thirty years she's been telling this story and
she finally, I guess one day had a memory. She's like,
you know what, I don't think that's true. Mike the
Leprechaunt has checked back in, redeeming himself on the X,
he says the Leprechaun's favorites concerts you two about twenty times,
including the Spear in Vegas, Dang the Eagles twice, and

(01:54:40):
finally finally Brian Adams. He adds, he hopes Mark is
better at the guitar than he is. Mark, How good
are you on the guitar?

Speaker 11 (01:54:52):
I would say I am average. I can play chords
and make myself happy.

Speaker 13 (01:54:57):
There you go.

Speaker 2 (01:54:58):
Always wanted to learn, always wanted to learn. Now they
say that I'm too old, Right, you got your hands,
It's got to be right.

Speaker 11 (01:55:05):
No, you're never too old. You never as long as
you can pick it up and tune it. You can
just figure out a chord and play things and make
yourself happy.

Speaker 2 (01:55:15):
Boy, that's a pretty good addition of Breeze. Three there, Breeze, Yeah,
well done. I think we all have been to concerts
in our day, so we all have a story to tell, right, Hey,
don't forget. You can stream this show and all of

(01:56:00):
am a I'm a big wrestling fan. That might explain
some things to you people, but I did want to
give a thoughts in prayers because it's been all over
my Twitter feed and my Facebook feed. Shouts out to
former WCW star Buff Bagwell speedy recovery. He had his

(01:56:26):
right leg amputated after an injury that he originally sustained
in twenty twenty. Buff the Stuff shouts out, Marcus buff Bagwell,
get well soon. And since we're in the world of shoutouts,
thanks to all of you who have participated on x
on Twitter, my man Shady, Sean Ford, twenty nature Boy,

(01:56:47):
all over, great stuff, Eddie. I want to hit a
couple of these before we get out. Jason B. Diamond
always good in contributing to the program. If im it's
not on the air, Craig is awesome. So here we go.
Craig is with me. He writes, Steelers eight and a
half over under. They have eleven to twelve win talent,

(01:57:09):
they'll win eleven games. See how Craig says that and
makes me question everything. I'm like, eleven games, that's a lot,
nature boy. The public is dying to see four time
WNBA All Star Britney Hicks later tonight. Let me tell
you something. Eddie had tweeted me earlier and said, Hey,

(01:57:30):
I'd love to hear your take on Shane Gillis's monologue.
I thought it was the funniest thing I've seen in
a long time. And all they all said, everyone it
was not the right crowd because you know, everyone gets
so offended by things anymore. And by the way, just
you know, quick thought. The sb's are stupid. They're the
dumbest thing going. I don't know why we do it,

(01:57:50):
but every year we do, and people get fired up
about it because they want to win an SB if
they're a you know, college team that's won something, but
you knew what you're gonna get with Shane Gillis when
he made the joke about the WNBA All Star Brittany
Hicks and then said, no, no, no, man, I'm just kidding.
That's my buddy's best friend. All right, that's my best
friend's wife. I laughed so hard that it carried. It

(01:58:13):
was one of those carryovers. Do you ever have a
good laugh like that? And not because he was making
fun of anyone, just he's pointing out how ridiculous we are.
It's like, oh, yeah, Brt, Britney Hicks. I'm sure there
were some WNBA players that are like Britney Hicks. Who's
that like? Maybe it's one of those old heads that
we don't know about, you know. He He's like, I'm
just kidding. I laugh, Brie. I laughed about that probably

(01:58:36):
a day.

Speaker 3 (01:58:36):
That was my favorite joke.

Speaker 2 (01:58:37):
I I was sitting in the afterwards because I had
to rewatch it a little bit later. I'm just sitting
in the kitchen. I'm just laughing. My wife goes, what's
wrong with you? And you try to tell the joke
and it just doesn't. It doesn't hit with a non
sports fan, so it was it was well done. But yeah,
I can't wait to see Brittany Hicks in the All

(01:58:58):
Star Game later tonight. That's the way to go here
see CFB playoffs. Eight teams should be the number no
buys since it's twelve. Take away the buys here NFL
coaches hot seat, The only one right now is Brian
Dayball with the Giants. You buying Brian Dayball with the
Giants is the only coach on the hot seat right now.

(01:59:21):
I don't know, Jason B. Diamon, I would love this
sixteen team playoff no buys, two first rounds on campus.
Warning you tomorrow night, I'm gonna get into the college
football playoffs quite a bit. Carl You don't care that
the NFLPA is in agreement with the NFL ownership to
with hold results of an arbitrator impacting player salaries and

(01:59:43):
guarantee you're not the brightest bulb on the media Christmas Tree,
or worried about repercussions from access to NFL teams and organizations,
which I mean, Carlotta, I don't care. Is the game
gonna be played on the final Thursday of July? Yeah?
Is football season coming up? I just don't care. Go

(02:00:04):
Hucketry and then Eloy writes, Hey, what's your take on
the AFC West this year? Are my chiefs still the
team debat? That Rashie Rice thing doesn't help. But if
everyone stays healthy, I believe we should be way better. Yes, Eloy,
you guys are awesome and it sucks and it's ruining
my life. Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for the Plank Parlay.

(02:00:25):
Let's go. A lot of people look at parlay's as
what profitability. I like the amount of money I could win,
probability based on what it shows me, I could possibly want.
You decide if you want to buy yourself. It's the
plank Parlay. Now, I got a minute to give you
another winner. Last week the Plank Parlay hit. It hit,

(02:00:46):
ladies and gentlemen, second time in the history of the programs.
So we're hot. Don't let us get hot. I'm sticking
with the Summer League. Three games. Give me Portland minus three.
Everyone excited about the return of Damian Lillard. Yes I
know he's not playing, Yes I know he's not, But
they give me Portland minus three. I'll take the Spurs
plus a point and a half. They've been on fire
in the Summer League and give me OKC minus two.

(02:01:10):
There's your plank party. Don't forget the podcast is up
and running. If you missed any of today's show, be

I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
