Speaker 1 (00:01):
This is Fox Sports Countdown. We're setting you up for
the sports weekend and covering all the action from the
stadiums to the arenas. This is Fox Sports Countdown, brought
to you BEG the Sports Book Born in Vegas. The
(00:22):
Countdown starts not live from the Fox Sports Radio studios.
Here's Brian no, Rich Ornberger and Jared Smith.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Oh what is going on? Everybody? Welcome in, Happy Saturday
to you. Football is well, football is fantastic.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
Hope's better than that.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Everything is just delightful, you know. Good morning, Rich, Good
morning Jared.
Speaker 4 (00:49):
I'll be thanks the lightful with.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
You guys as well.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
You know.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
This is not to pick a fight. You know, every
now and then I come off like I'm picking a fight,
and I don't. I mean, uh, I mean goodwill this morning. Okay,
but uh there. It was a little disagreeable to start
the show last week. So I just want to do
a little experiment here. I want to see if it's
possible that agreement can take place. Okay, so I prepared
(01:15):
a couple of statements. I want to see if we're
all on the same page. First off, water is wet.
We're good with that. We have any counter arguments.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
To that, or well there is.
Speaker 5 (01:26):
There is the contingent of folks who say that water
itself can't be wet because an object has to be
covered in water in order to be wet.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
Is water?
Speaker 4 (01:38):
Oh my goodness.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
See now I thought this would be a layup.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
This is kind of like a finger roll over a
seven foot or in the lane over.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
All right, how about this? Tom Brady is the goat.
We're good with that, Okay, I think now this this one,
I could send some pushback here. But you know, Starry
the soft drink, so it's it's sponsors like the w
n B A three point shade out last night. Yeah,
fake sprite. I don't think it tastes very good.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
That's just you guys.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
How do you feel about Star.
Speaker 4 (02:11):
Only drink diet coke? So that's really all right.
Speaker 5 (02:14):
I don't know if I've experiences with Starry. I mean,
it's all right.
Speaker 4 (02:21):
It's nowhere diet story. I don't drink. I don't drink
calories anymore.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
That's interesting. I don't know that there is. I'll be
on the lookout, but I guess that that's pretty awful. Also,
I love subway. I used to love getting sprite with subway.
I don't know if you guys are like this. Depending
on the restaurant and the meal, I might go coke,
I might go PEPSI I might go mountain, dude, depends.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
On what I switch up your brand. Yes, get a choice.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
Yeah, I'll go with like a dark soda. If it's subway,
always sprite. No more sprite. It's starry, it's storry.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
It's freaking dark. It's like white wine with fishe ye
with yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
Right, yeah, okay, So all right, a couple of agreements.
This is good because I want to throw something out
there where I just want to set this up where
I think that a lot of topics in sports, I
think that both sides are understandable. I think that you
can make a really strong argument on either side of
(03:24):
a debate.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
Right.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
There are a lot of times in sports that's the case.
This I don't think is one of those times. Okay,
So the latest story is Caitlin Clark is banged up.
She's not gonna play in the All Star Game, right.
She tweaked a goin muscle right before the All Star break,
and so she's not gonna be competing tonight, and I think,
(03:48):
whoever takes her place, and I don't know that off
the top of my head, whoever's going to take her
place in the game, that player is a replacement. Now
that player will be deemed an All Star replacement. And
if you go to her like basketball reference page, she's
gonna get like a thumbs up, she's gonna get hey,
(04:08):
all Star.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
You have.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
This traces back to the MLB All Star Game where
Jacob Mazerowski, the Brewers pitcher. He pitched five games, five starts,
and because some other pitchers couldn't make it, he was
he was deemed an All Star replacement. If you go
to his Baseball Reference page, you'll see one x All Star.
(04:31):
He is an All Star. Technically, I think that is garbage.
I think that if you are filling in, if you're
you know, if you're a replacement, that's all you are.
You're a filling You're a replacement. You're not an All Star,
you were not voted in. You're a seat filler at
the Grammy Awards, Like, those aren't your seats, You're just
sitting there until the person who has those seats comes
(04:53):
back to their seats. Are you guys with me on this,
because a lot of people think that even if you're
an alternate, even if if you're a fill in like
Tyler Huntley in the NFL, like is that wasn't going
to play in this Pro Bowl?
Speaker 3 (05:06):
You know?
Speaker 2 (05:06):
They just calling quarterbacks left and right. They finally get
to Tyler Huntley and he's like, yeah, oh boy, he's
a Pro bowler. That's ridiculous. You are just a fill in.
You should only have fill in status, is what I say.
Speaker 5 (05:19):
Yeah, Tyler Huntley is the most egregious example of this
in the NFL, but it's happened before, and to be
perfectly honest with you, some of the actual Pro bowlers
over the years didn't deserve it either, And the reason
is pretty simple.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
It is basically basically a popularity contest.
Speaker 5 (05:40):
The way the voting works, even at the NFL level,
it'll make you sick if you care about it, because
oftentimes the player votes are done by the lowest ranking
member in the meeting room where those sheets are handed out.
Veteran players will oftentimes find a rookie dump their Pro
(06:03):
Bowl voting paperwork on top of their desk and say, hey,
get this done. Handed in just so that they have
something to hand in, you know. And and by the way,
there are plenty of players who abstain from voting on
the pro Bawl together.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
Look, it's it's kind of farcical at the end of
the day.
Speaker 5 (06:22):
Don't I don't know how much weight it carries with
people who really care about sports anymore. So getting really
hot and bothered over a replacement being named an All
Star not I mean, I don't know if I'm there,
but but I do agree with the premise of the
argument that somebody who's replacing an actual All Star isn't
(06:44):
an All Star. They're just participating in the Skills Challenger, a.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
Game that they they weren't. That's not the award that was.
Speaker 5 (06:54):
Intended for them. That's that's just not how it works.
It's not like if a SGA I don't know, say
he had an ingrown toenail and couldn't play in the
game before the MVP was announced, they had to what
name a new MVP.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
That's not how that works, right. It's an award that
goes to the most valuable player.
Speaker 5 (07:19):
Just because he has an ingrown toenail doesn't mean he's
no longer the most valuable.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
Like that's so the Hayes in the Barn, so to speak.
Speaker 5 (07:27):
So yeah, yeah, I think we are in complete agreement
with the premise of the debate.
Speaker 6 (07:33):
Yeah, I mean, I think it's semantics, right. I'm assuming
that there's something in the language of each league's collective
bargaining agreement that probably says, well, if you're an All Star,
you get this, and then the agents use it as
a negotiation tactic later. Like I think it's just kind
of you know, it's just like a formality. I don't
(07:56):
really think it has any weight because if you go
back and you say that a player was this time
All Star and then he his stats are terrible, Like
it's just like, I I agree, it's just like a technicality,
Like I don't know, I don't know if it's anything
that you can really.
Speaker 4 (08:12):
Change because someone has to play in the game.
Speaker 6 (08:16):
Like let's say all the best players in the league
are injured, you just don't have an All Star game
because there's technically no actual All Star Like you have
to play the game or just cancel the game. I mean,
to be fair, Actually, here's my take on this. All
Star games are stupid.
Speaker 4 (08:31):
They're stupid. All of them.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
Let's go through each one and let's name each one.
But it's not about it's not about the game. It's
about the status that comes with people.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
I know.
Speaker 6 (08:40):
But what I'm telling you right now, why even have it, Like,
why even have all Star games? They're all they're all
really stupid, all of them. The Pro Bowl is completely relevant.
Let's not even name Pro Bowl. Let's let's not even
name people to the Pro Bowl. Let's just have All
Pro and that's it. The NBA, that game has become
completely ridiculous. The NHL actually does have like a fun
format that is intriguing. And baseball has so many players,
(09:04):
like there's a lot of players in these in this game. Well,
how many players in the game. You have to have
twenty five on a roster, so it's fifty sixty, seventy all.
Speaker 4 (09:11):
Stars, Like it's a lot.
Speaker 6 (09:12):
It's it's at some point you water down the word
all Star. It doesn't really mean anything. So I think
having the game itself is irrelevant.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
Let's go or let's do it.
Speaker 4 (09:22):
Let's call it something different.
Speaker 6 (09:23):
Let's call it the exhibition with the best players that
are currently healthy. Like, let's just call it something different,
because I think in general, the All Star Game itself
has lost all meaning because of the exhibition status and
because of the fact that these guys, to Brian's point,
if they have an ingrown tono, they're not going to play.
And I it's kind of speaks to how important being
(09:44):
an All Star is.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
I don't know about it whatever, but yeah, I just
think it's dumb to name a replacement an actual All Star.
That's the bottom light. You guys could take it from
there wherever you want to go. I don't think it's
that complex. I just think it's dumb. I don't know
why these leagues make it more complicated than it needs
to be.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
What happened with.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Baseball was ridiculous, where a couple of pitchers they pitched
right before the All Star Game and they weren't available
to pitch in the All Star Game. It's like it
happens if you pitched on Sunday and the games on Tuesday,
you're not gonna be available. Okay, they got a name
or replacement player, and so they reached out to a
couple of Phillies players Christopher Sanchez Ranger Suarez, much more
(10:29):
deserving than Miserowski. They couldn't pitch in the game. Either
they pitched on Saturday and Sunday respectively. You have to
throw that in there, right, they pitched right before the
All Star Game, and they're like, yeah, no, we can't
pitch in the game. They're like, well, I guess you're
not an All Star and it's like okay, then we're
just going down the road and we ended up with
Miserowski And it's just such a goofy process. I just
(10:52):
don't understand why. And that's the thing, if you don't
give them All Star status, which is what I think
should happen, I don't buy that no one's gonna play
in the game. If you get an invitation to compete
in the game and be around the best of the best,
and they give you like a bunch of things to
sweeten the pot. Maybe they give you a cash incentive,
(11:12):
maybe they give you a bunch of nice parting gifts.
If you do go there, represent your team, represent the league.
There are ways to sweeten it for the players. I
just don't think that if you're not voted in, if
you don't get in initially, and you're just taking the
spot of someone that's a little bit nicked up or
they're not going to be available based on their pitching routine.
I don't know how you get All Star status. That's
(11:34):
insanity to me. It's never made any sense. I don't
know how you can make sense of that.
Speaker 3 (11:40):
It should just be a separate list. It should just
be a separate list, like.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
You're an altimate the same way.
Speaker 5 (11:46):
Yeah, right, Look, I was a third team All American.
I typically don't run around and telling people I'm an
All American. I would, well, but like I typically don't,
because like there's a first team, a second team, and
a third team, like those are the players name and
(12:08):
I look at it kind of through that lens of like, well,
the guys who were named to the first team All
American lists, like those were the All Americans in college football.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
I was third down the list at my position. It
like that's just how I view it.
Speaker 5 (12:23):
Other people could view it differently, But this is because look,
I'm more.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
On the page of I think all of it's kind
of stupid.
Speaker 5 (12:31):
All of it kind of is looked through a lens
of subjectivity, you know, all of it kind of gets
skewed and I don't know, pushed into a narrative at
some point.
Speaker 3 (12:42):
But beyond that, Like, especially when.
Speaker 5 (12:45):
We're talking about what Brian was just pointing out, where
you have two guys who just based on the sport
that you're playing, can't participate, like just to physically would
either injure themselves or potentially upend their season if they
actually perform in.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
The All Star Game.
Speaker 5 (13:04):
So what, they're not All Stars because because they they
accidentally whoopsies, they had to pitch days before the All
Star Game. Like it's so stupid, it is so so silly.
So yeah, there should be your All Stars and then
there should be people who performed in the All Star Game.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
Like it's that simple.
Speaker 5 (13:26):
You don't have to call Tyler Huntley a pro bowler. Everybody,
including Tyler Huntley, knows that he didn't have a very
good season that year.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
Everybody is aware of it.
Speaker 5 (13:39):
You could just say, hey, by the way, Tyler Huntley
played in a Pro Bowl, wink, we all know what
that means.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
Like, it doesn't it doesn't diminish the fact that he was,
I guess that.
Speaker 5 (13:52):
Year in the NFL, the twelfth best quarterback in the league.
But that does not mean he's a pro bowler. And
he's aware of it too.
Speaker 6 (14:00):
Yeah, that's why you're a stand up guy, Rich, so
you don't go on telling people you're All American, because
I'll be honest, I probably maybe that speaks more about
me than anyone else anything else. I just think the
All Star games are stupid, I really do.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
You're just hung up on the game, man. It's it's
the distinction, it's the honor. There's real honor in being
named that. And some people say it's watered down. Yeah,
to a degree, it is, but this idea that it's
watered down for everybody, Like what Otani doesn't deserve to
be an All Star? Aaron Judge doesn't, but.
Speaker 6 (14:30):
He's Otani's gonna be voted into a many other awards,
Like there's other award things that people get voted to.
For example, Rich all American. There's not an All Star
game for college football. You get All American status. In
the NFL, you get All There's a difference between a
Pro Bowl and an All Pro, right all Pro, first
team Pro.
Speaker 4 (14:49):
Bowl and anybody like in baseball. I don't know. I
think it's like, you.
Speaker 6 (14:54):
Know, silver Slugger, gold Glove, Like, there's other distinctions. Besides,
it's the All Star game that people give voted to.
That's the point that I'm trying to make, and it's
it's actually agreeing with you that this process that we
have where if you're not physically playing in the game,
you're not an All Star is stupid, stupid, because Tyler
(15:18):
Huntley is not an All Star in this and I'm sorry,
Tyler harl if you're listening for throwing you you know
the strays you're catching today.
Speaker 4 (15:25):
But it's just an example of it. It has nothing
to do with that. It's it's not the game itself.
Speaker 6 (15:30):
It's the distinction, to your point, and the distinction is
contingent on playing in the game, which I think is
stupid because shoe Otani is an All Star regardless if
he plays in the game or not. But technically, if
he had an ingram toenail, he wouldn't be an All Star.
Speaker 4 (15:49):
That's why that bubble doesn't make sense.
Speaker 6 (15:52):
You take it on the whole season and you give
them all pro status. That's what they do in the NFL.
I think that's the right way to do it, and
the probo is meaningless, completely meaningless.
Speaker 2 (16:02):

(17:55):
the NFL Players Association, they're gonna have a new executive
direct because the old guy, Lloyd Howell Junior, he has
stepped down, he has resigned. What's going on with old
Lloyd over here? Well, a lot, there's a lot going on.
The first thing I think is the main thing. There
was an ESPN report within the last week where Lloyd
(18:20):
Howell he's the executive director of the Players Association, right,
so he's on the player's side. But he's also a
part time consultant for the Carlisle Group. And all you
need to know about this group is that they're seeking
minority ownership in NFL franchises. They're trying to be part
(18:41):
of NFL ownership. So you've got the executive director of
the Players Association who's a consultant with this group, who's
trying to be have my own minority ownership in NFL franchises.
A total conflict of interest. And listen the Players Association
had they're sticking up for Lloyd Howell. They're like, no, no, no, no,
(19:03):
that's fine, it's cool, nothing more, no problem whatsoever. And
then Lloyd eventually stepped down. And that's just one of
many things. We'll get to the collusive behavior of the NFL.
That's another whole story here. But Lloyd Howell out of
a gig and as a former player, rich as some
(19:24):
of these stories, and we'll go through them, but it's
too worthy for me to throw everything out there. As
a player, if you're active right now, you gotta be
looking at the NFLPA sideways like what are we doing
over do we have the player's best interest in mind?
Speaker 3 (19:38):
Active vent former?
Speaker 5 (19:40):
And here's the reason why, because you are in some ways,
you're always either benefiting or having benefits denied potentially somewhere
down the line in your retirement as a result of
the work that the players are doing in the room
with the owners during these arbitrations and agreements collectively between
(20:05):
the union and the ownership. And so to have a
representative first and foremost at the head of the players'
union who's in bed with the ownership or angling to
put himself in that seat, I mean, it's conflict of interest,
a massive conflict of interest.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
That's first and foremost.
Speaker 5 (20:24):
Secondarily the fact that, unfortunately you put somebody in the
executive director chair who doesn't understand that with his status
and you know, the gravitas.
Speaker 3 (20:41):
That his position holds.
Speaker 5 (20:43):
You know, there are just certain things that are going
to harm not only your reputation, but the reputation of
the players. Now, this is somebody who's supposed.
Speaker 3 (20:52):
To act on behalf of the players.
Speaker 5 (20:55):
This is somebody who I don't know, I'm sure if
internet sleuths did their digging, may have even said some
disparaging comments publicly about this type of behavior. And you're participating,
and not only that, but on the player's dime. It's
absolutely ridiculous, it's scandalous, and it is Look, it is
(21:19):
a marred position that's been held for a while. Anyways,
I don't think we've done a great job hiring, putting,
or voting into place executive directors over the course of time.
You could just go ahead and look at the past
two collective bargaining agreements as examples as to why I
(21:40):
feel that way. Some of the worst deals players have
ever signed with ownership in sports history in this country. So, yeah,
this is completely disappointing, not only for the current players,
but for the former players who stand to benefit from
negotiations that happen to take care of players post career,
(22:00):
because it's a game that absolutely ravages you. And even
though it's for a short time, I promise you there's
a lot of ex football players who are paying more
dearly for participating in their sport than most of the
other sports that players participate in in this country.
Speaker 6 (22:16):
Absolutely Well said, yeah, you have much better perspective on this.
Speaker 4 (22:21):
Rich.
Speaker 6 (22:22):
I did do some digging about how because that was
my first point.
Speaker 4 (22:26):
That was my first thought was.
Speaker 6 (22:29):
Well, how did this guy get into power? Right, Well,
he was elected by the players so the players to
be fair like.
Speaker 4 (22:40):
And I'm not defending anything this guy did.
Speaker 6 (22:44):
Because he also had some very unique other stories that
popped up in the last.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
Week or two about his history.
Speaker 6 (22:51):
But every two years, the players on each of the
thirty two NFL teams elect a player representative and then
that player representative will then vote on who should be
the executive director of the union. So as as terrible
as it sounds like, it's a it's a bad situation,
but the players were the ones who elected him, So
(23:12):
we need to have a better due diligence process with
with how these people are elected.
Speaker 4 (23:17):
And b we've got to figure out a way to
get this union stronger.
Speaker 6 (23:20):
I mean, it is the strongest league, the strongest professional
sports league in the country, and it's got the weakest union.
I just I think it's really I struggle to wrap
my head around that. And at the end of the day, again,
you have a lot more perspective on this because you're
you know, someone who is actually in this room. But
I just feel like this is a this is it's
(23:40):
it's a it's a failure on his part. But also
the players need to take responsibility. They're the ones who
elected him.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
Yeah, and the one of the other wild stories involving
Lloyd Howell Junior, former executive director of the Players Association. Right, so,
back in January this year, an arbitrator ruled that the
NFL engaged in collusive behavior, but not quite collusion. He
(24:07):
didn't take it that far when they were trying to
actively limit guaranteed money in player contracts. So the story
was this goes all the way back to March of
twenty twenty two. That's when quarterback Deshaun Watson signed that
huge contract with the Browns two hundred and thirty million
dollars fully guaranteed contract.
Speaker 3 (24:26):
Right.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
The other NFL owners were ticked off, it's like, and
they had an owner's meeting in that same month of
March in twenty twenty two. This is right after the
Deshaun contract, and there were notes passed out, there were
speaker notes during this thing. The NFL gave a presentation
they're urging teams, They're urging ownership, like, yo, you do
(24:49):
not want to give out fully guaranteed deals one after another.
This is going to be the new norm and it's
not gonna be good, YadA YadA. They had like you
can see the words. They had all this information, it
was passed out. It got into Pablo Torre's hands and
he exposed everything. Right, this arbitrator ruled in January in
(25:12):
favor of the players association. He's like, yeah, the NFL,
they're engaging in collusive behavior. You have text messages between owners,
like you had Cardinals owner Michael Bidwell. This is right
after Kyler Murray signed his quarterback deal, his contract extension.
This was in July of twenty twenty two, and you
(25:33):
had the Chargers team owner Dean Spanos congratulating him. You're like,
Dean Spanos was like, congratulations, your deal helps us for
our quarterback next year. And Michael Bidwell responds, I think
many teams will be happy with it once they have
a chance to review. Cleveland really screwed things up, but
I was resolved to keep the guarantees relatively low. Like
(25:58):
this arbitrator ruled in favor of the players and said, man,
the NFL, this is shady. They're actively talking about limiting
guaranteed money. So you would think the NFLPA would take
this and just look at the NFL, look at what
they're doing, Like this isn't right. What did the NFLPA
do they entered a confidentiality agreement with the NFL. They're like, hey,
(26:23):
we won't tell anybody, especially the players. We won't tell
anybody any of this that's under Lloyd Howell's watch. That
blows my mind if you're an active player and you're
hearing all of this. The only reason that got exposed
because of Pablo Torre. He got his hands on the
sixty one page arbitrators ruling and that's what he publicized.
(26:47):
That's why we know about this. I can't believe the
NFLPA was like, yeay, let's say let's keep it under
wraps over here. That is wild to me. You can't
make that one up.
Speaker 3 (26:59):
Yeah yeah.
Speaker 5 (27:00):
And also, I mean, look, it's gonna get awfully tricky
for Lloyd Howell Junior. Because you know, when you take
on an elected role in an official capacity leading a union,
especially one that is in charge of so.
Speaker 3 (27:19):
Many high profile people, this.
Speaker 5 (27:23):
Is going to be one of those unbelievably attractive cases
for somebody in a position of regulation to come down
hard to make a name for himself or herself career wise,
like you.
Speaker 3 (27:36):
Are now a technically.
Speaker 5 (27:41):
I mean up for federal investigation, like that's how serious
this goes. I mean, we have national labor boards, we
have watchdogs that look for this type.
Speaker 3 (27:51):
Of behavior in this country.
Speaker 5 (27:53):
So not only is this nefarious in terms of taking
advantage of the players, but it also might be ill eagle,
like you could have your freedom taken away for misuse
of funds like this.
Speaker 3 (28:05):
And I mean, where there's smoke, there's fire.
Speaker 5 (28:07):
Right now, it looks like one seven hundred and fifty
dollars ride from the airport or from his uh from
from his hotel room wherever he was going from. And
two but to a nightclub, a strip club rather in Miami.
Speaker 3 (28:21):
But was there more than that?
Speaker 5 (28:25):
Already in the preliminary searches there were you know, he's
taking players out and renting VIP rooms at Magic City,
which is another strip club. Look, this is my point,
Like you you are an elected position, you're representing a
labor union in the United.
Speaker 3 (28:43):
States, Like that is a big deal. They're there this guy,
this guy could could literally do.
Speaker 5 (28:49):
Jail time for what he did. It's not it's not
beyond the scope of punishment available for what he's done.
Speaker 3 (28:58):
With with great power come responsibility.
Speaker 5 (29:01):
I mean, that's something that we discuss often, you know,
when we discuss things like this, like he was in
a position where he needed to take it more seriously
than he was. And shame on the players, Jared to
your point, for not doing either better due diligence or
background on this person, or shame on the man for
fooling everybody for some of the time here. And I
think what needs to happen in response to this, because
(29:24):
anytime there's an action, there should be equal and opposite
reaction is reinforced. The way this is done, the voting
process obviously needs to change somehow. The way they, you know,
seek out new representation for the union needs to change
so that you don't have somebody who's either a being
(29:44):
compromised by the ownership, being lured in the direction where
potentially he could collude with the owners, or she if
there is a female executive director, or b somebody who's
not going to misuse the funds that are you're marked
to make better deals for the players, not so that
you could get your jolly's off when you're touring America.
Speaker 3 (30:07):
It's just absolutely despicable behavior.
Speaker 5 (30:10):
And as a former player, look there there's a good
reason why the NFL has railroaded the players for so long,
and this is just a symptom. There's a greater illness
that needs to be addressed, and I hope it does.
Speaker 6 (30:26):
Yeah, there, the collusion thing is nuts when I and
and Pablo Torre has been all over it. Credit to him.
It's what good journalism is. I miss the days of
those types of journalism stories, and you know, the set
of the stuff that we get today, which is just
like TikTok videos and viral moments of CEOs on coldplay
at kiss cams.
Speaker 4 (30:50):
It's nuts.
Speaker 6 (30:51):
Like if I was a player, If I was a
player and I saw that, I don't I don't know
how I would feel, probably something like I think, Rich,
that's the best way to frame it. Like go back
to your ploying days and imagine you saw that story.
Like you're listening to Pablo's podcast and you're hearing about
all this stuff, and you're like, man, they're just holding
back our money, Like they're just blatantly ripping us off, right,
(31:13):
and we're out here, blood, sweat and tears. They're up
in some owner's booth eating shrimp cocktail and watching us
like you know, Caesar, watch the gladiators do battle and
then when it comes time to pay us our money,
they're texting behind the scenes to make sure that this
team's contract doesn't go over the limit. So then this
(31:36):
team's contract And it actually made me think about what
happened yesterday with TJ Watt. What do you think the
Bengals are thinking right now with Trey Hendrickson? Like, you know,
Watt just got paid big money.
Speaker 4 (31:50):
And I'm not.
Speaker 6 (31:50):
Saying he's not worthy, We're worthy of it, but a
part of me is thinking, man, are the Bengals upset
right now because TJ just got paid? And now the
price for Trey Henderson just went up? And Jerry Jones
is upset because the price for Michael Parsons just went up?
And yeah, they probably are because look at how they're
colluding on.
Speaker 2 (32:10):
This quarterback, right Yeah.
Speaker 6 (32:12):
And so it really is this weird like song and
dance that we play where every contract now in the
back of everyone's mind, you should be thinking.
Speaker 4 (32:26):
Well, the price just went up and this owner's upset.
Speaker 6 (32:29):
And how do we know that because we have proof
that they're actually texting about it. Right. It's wild, It
really is wild, but it is the reality that we're
living in.
Speaker 2 (32:38):
Well, if I'm a current player, I'm mad at the
NFL and I'm mad at the NFL Players Association. I'm
mad at everybody because if I'm a current player and
the way it broke down, right, it goes back to
the Deshaun Watson contract. Do we have this owners meeting
that's publicized and we got text messages, there are presentations, Yo,
you gotta limit fully guarantee contracts like stop with that.
(33:02):
Don't make that the norm bad idea. So I'm mad
at the NFL for doing that. That's collusion right there.
Whether the arbitrator wants to rule that or not, it's unbelievable.
He didn't go far enough to say that's collusion, but whatever,
he needed more proof. I guess that's what he said.
That's silly to me. You've got all the proof in
the world that you need that they're colluding together to
(33:24):
keep the price down. But now, if I'm a player,
I'm really ticked off at the Players Association, Like you
have this in front of you, and what do you
do with it? You sign a confidentiality agreement, you don't
tell us about it, you don't fight for us about it,
and you decide to keep it under wraps. That is unreal.
(33:45):
Like for Rich as a parent, I think it's a good,
good comparison, right where if one of your kids, Rich,
if something happens to them in the world, right like,
that would be the NFL. Something bad happens, they look
to you to have their back. That's your job, that's
the NFL Players Association's job. And they don't they sign
(34:09):
a confidentiality agreement and keep it under wraps. I'm looking
at the PA like, do you have our back? Are
you doing your job? Because it doesn't look like it
to me that if I was your kid and you
decided to keep things under wraps when something shady happened
to me as your son, I'd have a real issue
with that.
Speaker 5 (34:28):
Yeah, Well, working behind your child's back to harm them
in some way, I mean, how do you come back
from that. I'll finish it by just saying this. If
anybody wants any evidence on how badly the NFL owners
will collude against the players for their own game, go
back and look during my time playing and the information
(34:49):
that they had on the after effects and the dilatorious
effects of concussions.
Speaker 3 (34:54):
Sure for players, it was hidden from players.
Speaker 5 (34:58):
Why was it hidden from players because they knew it
would affect bottom lines. There were guys living under bridge
with bridges with mental illness. There were guys who were
battling post concussive disorders and they had no idea what
was wrong with them because they didn't have the information
to act. And there are settlements paid out, and there
was all this litigation that had to be done to
(35:20):
make this quote unquote right. It'll never be right what
the owners did to the players. It was despicable work.
And you need somebody who is going to represent the
players and act on their best behalf or their best
interests so that they're not taking advantage of because, like
you said, it's a big world out there, and it's
a scary world, and young people need to be protectable.
(35:41):
Guess what, The NFL average length of career is just
three years, So you're talking about twenty two year old kids,
twenty one year old kids who were taking advantage of
eighty year old billionaires who can manipulate the system for
their own capital game. You need somebody at the head
of the class who can protect those people, who can
speak on their behalf intelligently and not be coerced by
(36:04):
visits to strip clubs in Miami.
Speaker 3 (36:08):
It's ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (36:09):
Yeah, it's crazy. Really is many layers of craziness in
that one. We've got rich ron Berger, Penn State All American,
Jared Smith FSR betting analyst. I'm Brian No coming up
next to parlay Platter. That's right. We each have one selection.
We pull it together for a greater payout. We'll see
what the theme is. Maybe it's summer league. No one
makes a pick unless it's the NBA Summer League, or
(36:32):
maybe baseball now that baseball is backs, we'll find out.
Coming up, it is Fox Sports Radio's Countdown presented by BETMGM.

this r lay ladder. Yes, the parlay Ladder. We'd have
one selection for you. We pool it together for a
greater payout. Jared, we start with you for a pick
and the theme, well.
Speaker 6 (37:13):
I'll just front this by saying the Hall of Fame
games twelve days away in the NFL opener forty seven
days away.
Speaker 4 (37:19):
Thank god football is back soon, because.
Speaker 6 (37:21):
I am I'm at the end of my rope with
these baseball games.
Speaker 4 (37:25):
But I will give you a prop for today. It
is a baseball day.
Speaker 6 (37:29):
If you want him throw in summer league, I'm not
gonna fault you, Beino.
Speaker 4 (37:32):
I know that's your vibe. I think that's fine too.
Dealer's choice. There's really not a whole lot to bet
off today, so pick whatever it suits your fantasy.
Speaker 6 (37:41):
I'll go baseball want Soto over one and a half
her what the heck is her?
Speaker 4 (37:45):
Hr R hits runs a RBI's love this prop.
Speaker 6 (37:48):
Why because you are rewarding the player for doing his
job instead of just total bases or getting a hit.
You're also rewarding him for a sacrifice fly, which is
an RBI. You're also rewarding him for walks, stolen base scored.
I like this market over any of the other hitter
markets in baseball. Wan So too over one and a
half hits runs RBIs Mets facing the Reds today.
Speaker 4 (38:09):
He's won for one career against Nick Martinez. The one
hit was home.
Speaker 6 (38:12):
Run the homer yesterday. I think Sodo is getting hot
and he's hitting better against righty's than left He's ops
about one hundred.
Speaker 4 (38:18):
And fifty points higher.
Speaker 6 (38:18):
I so jumps about one hundred points pretty easy. Handicapped
Juan Soto over one and a.
Speaker 4 (38:23):
Half her first leg of the Harlot player.
Speaker 5 (38:27):
All right, I'm going to take Luis Tres under one
and a half total bases and the reason why is
because metrics support that he's struggled with on base percentage
this season, decreased plate discipline, diminished contact quality in terms
of how he's operating at the plate. He's got a
(38:48):
career high chase rate of thirty six percent of pitches
outside the zone.
Speaker 3 (38:53):
That's absurd for a player with the eye that Luis
Sarreise has had over the course of his career.
Speaker 5 (39:00):
So he's had some injuries, right, he's coming back from
an injury. He had an injury this season, so his
bat speed has struggled and that's created less hard.
Speaker 3 (39:10):
Hit balls this season.
Speaker 5 (39:11):
So give me the under one and a half total
bases today for Luis Arrives.
Speaker 2 (39:16):
I like it nice. I like the breakdown, very nicely done.
I do love me some Summer league plays today, but
I'll sprinkle them in maybe at the end of the
show for rapid fire. But I'll take with the baseball
theme here to give me the White Sox and Pirates
under eight and a half runs. The reason, the main
(39:38):
reason is Adrian Hauser, who's quietly had a really good
season for the White Sox is Era is one fifty
six in nine starts this year, and every single one
of the White Sox games that he's played, he's pitched
in they've gone under Like the most combined runs in
any Adrian Hauser started game is six out of nine starts.
(40:01):
The six combined runs, that's say, they're a lot of
one to nothing, two to one, three two, four to
one games. So I'm gonna ride the trend over here. Now,
the other pitcher for the Pirates, you gotta look at
Mike Burrows mixed back. Okay, there are games where he's bad,
the Pirates are brutal and they give up a bunch
of runs, and there are other games where it's low
(40:21):
scoring and he pitches fine. As Era is here, five
Pirates have lost five for their past six games. I
think the White Socks are live on a money line
play here plus one fifteen. I wouldn't be mad at
that at all, But I'm gonna keep going with the
trend until something happens, until they could score. Like if
seven eight nine combined runs, I'm gonna pitch. I'm gonna
(40:43):
play the under with Adrian Hauser on the bump for
the White Socks, gonna be under eight and a half
runs combined.
Speaker 3 (40:48):
The bag game.
Speaker 4 (40:50):
I like it.
Speaker 6 (40:50):
It's almost like Adrian house Are on a one year contract,
is trying to pitch like he doesn't want to.
Speaker 4 (40:54):
Pitch in Chicago anymore. So left it's well enough to
where he gets signed somewhere else. Plus five one, five
to one on.
Speaker 5 (41:04):
Us.
Speaker 2 (41:05):
Very good, All right, coming up next, No Wonder everything
fell apart?
Speaker 3 (41:10):
Oh what is going on?
Speaker 2 (41:11):

to countless betting options, including new look, same game parlays, teasers,
live bets, and so much more. Okay, So Robert Kraft
and Bill Belichick, Oh boy, these guys, it's the gift
that keeps on giving. So the latest installment of petty behavior,
(41:54):
in my opinion, is what's going on here. So Robert Kraft,
he's the Patriots team owner, you appeared on appeared on
a podcast recently and he was talking about the decision
to hire Belichick and he was emphasizing how it was
a big risk, and he's right to a degree, Like
they had to give up a first round pick to
acquire Belichick from the Jets. It's not like Belichick was
(42:15):
amazing with the Cleveland Browns. It was just winning playoff
game after playoff game, so it was risky. Well, Belichick
heard that and he made a rare public statement. He
countered by saying that he took the bigger risk by
leaving a more stable situation with the Jets. So he's
basically saying, hey, have you seen the Patriots did? What
(42:37):
great success did they have before I got there? I
took the bigger risk. To me, this is just no
wonder things fell apart for these guys, is what it
tells me. These are two guys that want credit, and
fundamentally there isn't automatically anything wrong with that. It's just
(43:01):
how far you take it. Like think about this where
Robert Kraft is, I took a big risk. I I
took the big risk. I gave up a first round pick.
Look how everything turned out. Look what I did over
you know, Like it's basically read between the lines, give
me my credit here, man, what a big risk? And
did it payoff?
Speaker 3 (43:19):
Boy?
Speaker 2 (43:19):
You bet your bottom dollar it did. That's Bobby Kraft
what he's saying, basically, and then Belichick he's I took
the bigger risk. I mean, look at what that situation was.
You don't think it was risky on my behalf? Give
me my flowers. It's basically what's going on here when
you read between the lines and that you see this
so often in sports, right. You saw it with Jerry
(43:40):
Jones and Jimmy Johnson. Jerry Jones wanted credit so badly.
You saw it in the Last Dance with the Bulls,
Remember the GM Jerry Krause. He wanted more credit. Phil
Jackson's getting all the praise. I want my credit to
look at what I'm doing over here. It can lead
to so many things going wrong, and I absolutely believe
(44:03):
that was part of why the Craft Belichick marriage fell apart.
These guys are competitive to a fault and wanted their shine.
At the end of the day, who cares as long
as you keep winning. I think Robert Craft is silly
for taking it as far as he did. I understand
you want some roses, but dude, just keep printing money
and keep winning games. And he didn't see it that way.
Speaker 3 (44:27):
Yeah, Pride cometh before the fall.
Speaker 5 (44:30):
I mean, it's it's biblical, It's been written since ancient times.
Speaker 3 (44:34):
It's truly.
Speaker 5 (44:37):
It's just a modern day portrayal of what it means
to be human. Like these are, like you said, hyper
competitive people and extraordinarily prideful people. Bill believing in his
talent as a talent evaluator and also as a practitioner
of the coaching craft. And there's no question he's excellent
(44:57):
at both. I played for the man for three seasons.
I can speak to how brilliantly he was able to
sermonize the game of football.
Speaker 3 (45:06):
Robert Kraft. I give him a ton of credit.
Speaker 5 (45:09):
He handed over the reins and complete control of his
organization to a young young man at the time who
had big, bold visions of how to do this the
quote unquote right way, and he built up with what
is known now as the Patriot Way and it has
been the most successful formula in sports professional sports history ever. So,
(45:36):
I mean, there's there's not a lot of arguing for
or against either side. You needed both to make it happen.
This reminds me of like the debate after Tom Brady
left him free agency for Tampa Bay. Who's more responsible
for the Super Bowl victories in New England the greatest
of all time quarterback or the greatest of all time coach?
And my argument has been and will always be, you
(45:58):
needed both to happen. You cannot have the chemical reaction
one without the other. There needs to be the mixture,
the catalyst, you know, the base and the acid in
order to have the explosive moment.
Speaker 3 (46:13):
And that's what they had in New England.
Speaker 5 (46:16):
And again, you know, add another element to it, the
fact that you needed an owner like Bob Kraft to
allow that all to happen in house under his roof,
while he's paying all the bills and footing all the
price for this. I mean, it really was a confluence
of events that may never ever be replicated in sports. Again,
(46:37):
but again going back to the original thing, you're saying,
it's extraordinarily petty, Brian, and and it's because these are
two alpha male super competitors who who want who want
to take the bows now for all of the efforts
during that twenty year stretch of winning, and I don't
(46:58):
think I don't think anybody could solo spotlight here.
Speaker 3 (47:01):
I just don't.
Speaker 6 (47:03):
Man, when I saw this, my gears were grinding. Yeah, wow, okay,
so many things. Well, I'm a Jets fan, so they're
talking about this moment that as a Jet Now, let
me give you my perspective as a Jets fan. I
was miserable for the first obviously a few years of
my Jets fandom in the early nineties. And then Bill
(47:25):
Parcells comes in in ninety eight and the Jets are
all Keith Buyers, fumble away from making the Super Bowl
and they beat the Falcon and whoever won that Super
Bowl between the Broncos and the Falcons that year was
winning or the ACM Jamians winning Super Bowl against the
Atlanta Falcons.
Speaker 4 (47:38):
So the Jets were right on the doorstep.
Speaker 6 (47:42):
Then the next year, Vinnie Testaverdi gets injured Snaps's achilles
on the first first week of the year and the
seasons lost.
Speaker 4 (47:49):
They limp through the.
Speaker 6 (47:50):
Ninety nine season and then Parcells resigns, you know, he leaves,
and they, you know, promote Belichick and I'm thinking to myself.
Speaker 3 (47:58):
Okay, we're gonna keep this rolling.
Speaker 4 (48:00):
Everything's gonna be good.
Speaker 6 (48:02):
And then all of a sudden, Belichick's gone, they hire
al Grow and.
Speaker 4 (48:07):
You know, things kind of went off the rails a
little bit. Hell yeah, just a little bit.
Speaker 6 (48:15):
I mean, I think actually did make the playoffs that
one year, but then it went really south and then
things didn't get back to any respectability until her Metwards came.
Speaker 4 (48:23):
So to hear these two guys.
Speaker 6 (48:26):
Bicker back and forth about this, and make no mistake,
Craft started this.
Speaker 4 (48:32):
I mean, the Craft is worth twelve billion dollars.
Speaker 6 (48:35):
He's going to Fanatics Fest and going on the Dudes
on Dudes podcast hosted by Julian Edeman and Rob Gronkowski
and taking shots at Belichick.
Speaker 4 (48:45):
Belichick could have just said, you know what, I got
other fish to fry.
Speaker 6 (48:49):
I'm the head coach at UNC, I've got all these
Super Bowls. I don't need to stoop to Robert Kraft's
level and respond to this. I deal with this crap
on social media all the time. Take shots at me
and my picks.
Speaker 4 (49:01):
I don't have to respond.
Speaker 6 (49:04):
You don't have to accept every invitation to every argument
you get invited to.
Speaker 4 (49:09):
You could just ignore it and just let it go.
Belichick then escalated it.
Speaker 6 (49:14):
If Belichick doesn't respond, this is not a story, he responded, Now,
it's a story, and it's a pissing match.
Speaker 4 (49:21):
Neither one of them's right, neither one of them's wrong.
I mean, I don't really know how else to explain
it better than that.
Speaker 6 (49:27):
Obviously Belichick took a risk leaving the Jets and going
to the Patriots. Obviously Craft took a risk hiring a
guy that had just gotten hired by their division rival.
Like both can be true. There's gray area here. Both
guys took a risk. You want to try to quantify
which person took a bigger risk.
Speaker 4 (49:44):
We're wasting our.
Speaker 6 (49:45):
Time, like it's just it's it's it's just a giant
waste of time, ego, look at me, vibe and I
as a Jets fan, it sickens me.
Speaker 2 (49:56):
Yeah, I mean that's that's the true sickening part. If
you want to bring the Jets element into this, can
you think just imagine a world where Belichick stays with
Gange Green and they have anywhere near the amount of
success that the Patriots had. That is truly nauseating. For it,
what I would do for.
Speaker 6 (50:16):
One Super Bowl Brown, just what I would do to watch,
just to watch my team play in the Super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (50:24):
What I would do.
Speaker 2 (50:25):
Of the ten things you would do, nine of them
are illegal, guaranteed.
Speaker 3 (50:28):
Like that baseline it would be.
Speaker 2 (50:31):
But that's the thing here is Jared I totally agree
right where instead of wasting time with who took the
bigger risk, like they both took risks. There's truth to
what they both said, but the fact that they're like, no,
I took the bigger risk, No I did, No, No,
I'm great, No, No, I'm great. Like that dynamic there
shows you why things fell apart. Like I go back
(50:55):
to the Jerry Jones Jimmy Johnson thing. Those guys were
college buddies. They played at Arkansas together. They were teammates.
Speaker 8 (51:03):
They were boys, you know, like Jerry Jones kicked Tom
Landry a legend to the curb for Jimmy Johnson, and
just a few years later, after great success two super
Bowl rings, here's Jerry like.
Speaker 2 (51:17):
I you know I, I I mean me me. It's like, bro,
what are you doing? Like you know that Dave Chappelle
thing when keeping it real goes wrong? Yeah, all these
examples are when keeping it competitive goes wrong. That's what
it is. You're competitive to a fault. You want to
get the shine, you want to be the reason right,
(51:41):
and it's like it's a team game, Like why are
you all of a sudden forgetting about everything that made
you guys special? And it's no, I took the bigger risk.
It's just so dumb. It's a waste of time.
Speaker 5 (51:56):
Now when you start looking at like who's most responsible
for championships and things like that. Look, I mean you'll
never hear me say this different. I do think that
you needed both Tom Brady and Bill Belichick to have
the level of success that the New England Patriots have,
and therefore you needed robber Craft to hire Bill for
(52:19):
that all to happen. So one thing doesn't happen without
the other. But look, Bill Belichick will tell you this himself,
and it was part of the reason why players liked
playing for Bill, like playing in New England. It's because
he was a player's coach. The players are the most
important part of this. You have to have good players,
otherwise you don't have a good football team. Even Bill
(52:39):
Belichick with crummy players, if he didn't have Tom Brady,
he wouldn't have been as good of a coach as
he was.
Speaker 3 (52:46):
There's no question about it.
Speaker 5 (52:47):
As a matter of fact, we have some example of
that after Tom Brady left New England.
Speaker 3 (52:53):
It's hard in this business.
Speaker 5 (52:55):
To be a good football team if you don't have
a successful quarterback, especially the way they built that program.
But I digress on that point to talk about risk. Now, look,
in the I guess hierarchy, if that's what we're gonna
call it. In the NFL, who's taking the most risk.
It's the players. It's the players. The players are taking
the most risk because they're literally putting life and limb
(53:17):
on the line at times in order to earn their
dollars and cents. Then, if you want to make an
argument for the owners, I could probably see it as
being tipped in their scale, because if you think about
the owners, they do have to stick their neck out
on the line with guaranteed contracts for these coaches, and
when you hire a coach, you're on the hook to
(53:38):
pay them whatever salary that is until that contract's over with,
whether they get involved in a scandal, whether they're good
coach or a bad coach. You look at the head
coach position, you could ruin your career just by having
one bad season. But in terms of the dollars in
cents of it, Yeah, Robert kraft a, you know, stick
(54:00):
his neck out there and say no, no, I'm gambling
on this guy. I'm training for this guy. He's going
to be the leader of our organization. So I mean,
am I supportive of his argument? Maybe slightly more at
the dawn of his career in New England. Yeah, the
answer might be yes. But do we need to have
this public urinating count to decide? Oh, we don't. And
(54:24):
and it really does deepen what they achieved together.
Speaker 4 (54:28):
Absolutely.
Speaker 6 (54:29):
You know who could end this argument if Tom Brady
comes out and says, no, I took the most risk
by six round offer.
Speaker 2 (54:37):
He took the biggest risk.
Speaker 4 (54:39):
Yeah, that would be if Brady relieved.
Speaker 6 (54:41):
No, Brady should go to the same place he announced
where he was going to the Bucks or no, no,
the same place where he announced the retirement, right he
didn't he sell the butt sand from where here he
sat and tape the retirement video. He should go back
to that same beach and do another video where he says.
Speaker 4 (55:00):
Actually, guys, I took the most risk. That would be the.
Speaker 6 (55:04):
Way to end this argument with some humor, because at
the end of the day, this is literally, to Rich's point,
this is literally a public urination contest.
Speaker 4 (55:14):
But to be fair to Bill.
Speaker 6 (55:16):
Robert started it, like why is Robert going on the
Dudes on Dudes podcast at fanatics Fest with two former
players who I love Gronk and I love Julian Edelman,
But I don't think they're like mensa people that are
gonna ask these really insightful questions to get these.
Speaker 4 (55:33):
Really interesting answers out of Robert Kraft.
Speaker 6 (55:35):
Actually, to be fair to both of them, they got
what they wanted, which was a viral moment for their podcast. Robert,
who is worth twelve billion dollars?
Speaker 4 (55:44):
Do you not have anything better to do?
Speaker 3 (55:47):
Sir?
Speaker 6 (55:47):
If I had twelve twelve billion. I'd be on a
beach somewhere. I wouldn't be talking to anyone in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (55:52):
But I don't know.
Speaker 4 (55:52):
Maybe that's just me.
Speaker 6 (55:54):
This again as a Jets fan, this entire story just
grinds my gear to the highest degree because I keep thinking,
what if Robert Kraft doesn't take this huge risk and
just let's Bill ascend from Bill Parcells's shadow and take
the Jets head coaching job. And where are the what's
(56:16):
the Jets franchise today? If this history doesn't take place?
So I wish them both the best with their future endeavors.
But I will be betting under seven and a half
wins for the North Carolina tar Hills this year.
Speaker 2 (56:30):
Fair enough, all right, We've got rich Ron Berger, pett
State All American, Jared Smith, FSR betting analyst. I'm Brian

in the bullpen. He's gotta get those three final warm

Speaker 4 (57:57):
This follow them real good money.
Speaker 2 (58:01):
All right, welcome in our good friend, Seamus McGee, teen,
lead of sports trading at bet MGM. You know that
might be the first question, Seamus, if you were an
MLB closer, you know, what song are you choosing to
either trot out or slow like menacingly walk out as
you're about to nail down a save? What song do
(58:22):
you choose?
Speaker 9 (58:22):
Buddy Grant to be back, guys, excellent question. My choice
is Rocky like a Hurricane by Scorpions.
Speaker 2 (58:30):
Okay, I love that.
Speaker 9 (58:32):
I've had that I've had. I've been sitting on that
for years. It will never change.
Speaker 3 (58:38):
Beautiful.
Speaker 2 (58:39):
That paints a picture right there, Seamus, for sure, no doubt.
Very nice. Well, I'll throw out a real question, you know, well,
the sports related gambling question. I always ask you and
Christian Cippolini what you need?
Speaker 3 (58:55):
Right?
Speaker 2 (58:56):
Like a guy like Bill Krackenberger on the show Tomorrow
Professionals sports handicapper, he always wants to align himself with
the bookmaker's side. He said that God protects the bookmaker, right,
so he wants to bet on what you guys need
because you're still building skyscrapers over here, for a reason. Right,
do you need anything of great note today or is
(59:17):
it just one of those like ed shoulder shrug type
days for you guys.
Speaker 9 (59:22):
I mean, we'll pass the All Star break for the MLB,
so back to the dog days if you will, of
pre football season. So I think it's gonna be pretty
run in the middle today. You know, I hope a
lot of favorites losing the MLB. You got the WNBA
All Star Game today, which is starting to get a
little bit of action. The markets moved con on this game.
With Dalen Clark being out. The total saw a huge spike.
(59:46):
We're talking like fifteen points almost because there's a bunch
of rule changes that they're doing for the game. I say,
we need Team Park to maybe pull off an upset here.
That would be pretty nice.
Speaker 3 (59:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:00:00):
WNBA All Star Game.
Speaker 6 (01:00:01):
If I recall, what was it two years ago, maybe
three years ago, the total of the game was off
by so many points. I think it dropped like fifty points.
There's some kind of crazy number. We don't see those
moves very often in any sports. Chamus, was that and
you can correct me if i'm you know, fact check
me on the year and exactly how much it moved.
(01:00:22):
But if I recall, there was one year where the
WNBA All Star Game just had this insane move.
Speaker 9 (01:00:28):
Yeah, it was the opposite. It went down you're talking.
That was when it was the USA versus the WNBA
All Stars, and that was really just a you know,
a tester for the Team USA team. So it felt
like it was going to be a real game, not
just like this showcase. But this year it's the opposite.
We're seeing it move to the over. There's rule changes,
(01:00:49):
like I think they're cutting the shot clock down to
twenty seconds, so there might be more possessions. There's in
game subs like from hockey, like that only the offense
can use. There's no free lays outside of the last
two minutes. You just get two points if you're fouled
on a shooting foel. So there's just a recipe for
the game to fly over the initial numbers. So if
(01:01:11):
it's thinking somehow stay under the total right now, it'll
be a good night for us in this game.
Speaker 3 (01:01:17):
Wow making Shamus, I got a golf question. I got
a golf question for you.
Speaker 5 (01:01:24):
So obviously there isn't a lot of variety in terms
of the setup of an NFL grid Iron. You know,
the goalposts are always in the same spots. You have
the same width on every field, the same length, the
same thing with the goals in basketball. There's a little
variety in terms of baseball ballparks. But like when you're
(01:01:46):
when you're modeling for the Open Championship at a course like.
Speaker 3 (01:01:52):
Royal pot Rush, how does how does like the course.
Speaker 5 (01:01:56):
Especially with the deep bunkers and some of the variety
that we see, especially in this major, How does that
affect you know, the props or just how how you
guys set up bets or odds that that betters can
come to the window with.
Speaker 9 (01:02:16):
It certainly affects a lot the course specifically. You know
a course is going to be good for you know,
long drivers, Is it better for guys who are good
around the green, good on approach, stuff like that, But
then you have to take account the weather, which way
the wind is blowing, where is the pin placed on
the green for the day. So that's the course of
(01:02:36):
like obviously is a major factor, but there is just
a myriad of things that go into a tournament like
the British Open, especially in a link style.
Speaker 2 (01:02:43):
Force Seamus with NFL preseason football right around the corner.
I just started thinking about You'll hear this from a
lot of like non pro betters where it's still out there.
We're like, man, if you're betting on preseason football, you
need to go to a meet right away. But like
the pros, they eat up preseason football right like they
(01:03:07):
value They just pounce, they're firing away. Can you give
us an idea of what the handle looks like for
preseason football compared to say, regular season football. Is it
a huge difference between the two.
Speaker 9 (01:03:22):
It's obviously huge. I mean, all the you know, a
lot more of the recreational players are playing in the
regular season. But I tell you it's my least favorite thing.
I hear online all the times, like, oh, if you're
gambling on the NFL preseason, you need to call the number.
If you're I saw someone say if you're gambling on
the NBA summer league, called the number. These are the
biggest betting opportunities you could possibly have all year. What
(01:03:47):
are we talking about? I get really riled up about it.
If you want to beat the book, these are the
best spots to do it. There is a lot less
fluid information out there, so you have a chance to
get into the news before you say a bookmaker does,
especially preseason if you are like really into like your
team and how your coach operates during pre season, how
(01:04:10):
long the starter is going to be in for. There
are a thousands different types of ways you can find
a way to make money off of that. So I
couldn't agree more. The NFL preseason is a great spot
if you want to try to make some money. But
I will say, I mean, it's not even close competitive
numbers we'll get by the time the regular season kicks off.
Speaker 6 (01:04:28):
Yeah, And to be fair, and I'm not trying to
call this person out. It was Keith Smith NBA. He's
an NBA he covers the NBA for spot Track and
for Front Office Sports. And he said, I've gotten four
different email This was on July nine, It's about ten
days ago. I've got four different emails today. Line's odds
on Summer League games and champions If you are gambling
on Summer League you have a problem.
Speaker 4 (01:04:48):
You need to see him.
Speaker 6 (01:04:49):
And my response, I quote with you this. I said,
there is truth to what Keith is saying. He just
doesn't like gambling. Just remove the line Summer League. If
you are gambling, you have a problem and need help,
Like these are people that just don't like gambling, which
is fine, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but the
opinion that you need help if you're betting on this event,
which in my opinion, is one of the most illiquid,
(01:05:11):
probably easiest events to beat if you know the right
people and you know what you're doing.
Speaker 4 (01:05:16):
It's just it's just the wrong opinion. College football, I
saw you guys are popping up some really interesting market
shamis you know.
Speaker 6 (01:05:24):
You know the one that really catches my eye is
the total number of SEC teams to have ten or
more regular season wins.
Speaker 4 (01:05:29):
We were all over this market last year.
Speaker 6 (01:05:31):
But there's just so many opportunities in the college football
and the NFL futures markets to think big picture, and
I know MGM is coming up with a lot of
different markets, a lot of different ways you can approach it.
Do you want to share some fun ones with us?
Speaker 9 (01:05:44):
Yes, as you said, we posted out for over under
you know conference, you know, teams to win ten plus
and six plus games? You know Bowl eligible team? How
many Bowl eligible teams will the team have?
Speaker 1 (01:05:55):
Just this week?
Speaker 9 (01:05:56):
I mean we posted you know how many bids is
the how are four conference is going to get like
over under three and a half for the Big Ten,
three and a half for the SEC. A couple of
fun ones. Obviously we put up to make the title
game this week, but then we have the odds to
go undefeated in the conference, you know, odds to go
winless in the conference depending on the state where you
live in fewest wins in the conference. So if you're
(01:06:19):
really into just you know, some fun props for the season,
we got you covered over here. Another one I post
it for a year is head to head state versus
state props is the state of you know, Texas is
going to win more into the state of California, for instance.
I think this year I posted, well, the state of
Texas combined for one hundred plus wins this year. Well,
(01:06:40):
a lot of fun things depend on this for this season,
So I can't wait for the season to get started.
Speaker 5 (01:06:45):
Really, Yeah, focusing on those NFL futures, is there one
or maybe even a few, And this could be year
over year that you've seen or it could be one
specific that the public is just dead wrong on this season.
It could be a win total, it could be a
player prop you know, and an MVP whatever it is.
(01:07:08):
Is there anything that's sticking out to you where you think, Man,
A lot of people are gonna lose some money on this.
Speaker 3 (01:07:13):
That's a bad bet.
Speaker 5 (01:07:16):
Oh.
Speaker 9 (01:07:17):
I could talk for days about this. I love the
under their win total. Wow, it's every every day. It's
Commander's over, Commanders doing the Super Bowl, Commanders to make
the playoffs. In some part, I mean, this schedule just
got a lot tougher. A lot of the guys are
signing are three old, Like I'm not sure. I like
(01:07:38):
Deevo Samuel is the guy that's gonna like push him
over the hump. Von Miller, who I thought was retired
it just signed for them the other week. I mean,
you got it really banked on Jayden Daniels staying healthy
this year. This scene feels a lot like the Texans
last year. I mean, the Sextons end up winning the
South because the end of the division was very good.
(01:07:58):
But Stroud spell off huge last year, Like you really
have a good year. It could be a little bit
of that. I just I don't see ten wins on
the schedule. I don't know if I see even eight
wins on the schedule. I think there's a very good
chance this team doesn't even go back to the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (01:08:14):
Interesting. Okay, Well, now that you're fired up, like that
was the salad, here's the main course. The same is special.
What do you have for us today? Man?
Speaker 9 (01:08:24):
Sick with the WNBA All Star Game. I'm gonna go
with a flyer on Sabrina and Escu to win All
Star Game MVP around seven hundred you can get there's
a four point shot. I think she's gonna be let
that fly tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:08:35):
So okay, man, I check the rules. If you're thinking
about betting the under.
Speaker 5 (01:08:40):
Huh my gosh, that's insane.
Speaker 2 (01:08:48):
Wow, man, that's interesting.
Speaker 9 (01:08:50):
Yeah, just make sure you know what you're getting yourself into.
Speaker 3 (01:08:52):
If you're betting this tonight, no doubt.
Speaker 2 (01:08:54):
Well, great at the under in this game, you call
the number. That's how I feel appreciate you, Seamus. We'll
catch you soon. Man, Hope you have a great day.
Speaker 9 (01:09:04):
Thanks, guys, have a good one.
Speaker 2 (01:09:05):
Yeah you too, is Seamus McKee. Wow, that's crazy, I'll
say real fast because we got to get to scary,
terry new details, interesting stuff. But these people. I love
how riled up Shamus was because it really is such
a dumb comment to make, Like, if you're betting on
preseason NFL, you need to call one eight hundred gambler
(01:09:26):
right away. It's like, dude, eliminate the marquee sign that
says preseason football, you know what I mean? Like, apply
this to the regular season. If this is Week five
and you have information one team is going to be
playing all of their starters at least for the first half.
Meanwhile the other team is playing none of its starters
(01:09:50):
at all, you would be crushing week five bets left
and right. Yeah, but just because it's preseason, that's where, Oh,
you need a meeting right away. It's like, no, dude, no,
you're just missing the boat here. There is value if
you've got things that are If you're finding value and
the books are slow to react to that, that is
(01:10:12):
gold right there.
Speaker 3 (01:10:14):
It drives me.
Speaker 2 (01:10:14):
I'm just like Shamus, you see it all the time.
It's like clockwork, like, oh, you need a meeting, man,
you got.
Speaker 6 (01:10:20):
I appreciate when they do that, though, because it reveals
to me how little.
Speaker 4 (01:10:23):
They know about gambling.
Speaker 6 (01:10:25):
Yeah, it's and then you know it's like, Okay, now
I don't need to take your opinion about anything.
Speaker 4 (01:10:29):
Gambling already. Seriously, that's right, absolutely right.
Speaker 2 (01:10:32):
Okay, So how about this new details with Terry Roseier.
So there was a professional better that placed thirty wagers
in forty six minutes. This goes back till let's go
to a hot top time machine to twenty twenty three. Okay,
this is March of twenty twenty three. Scary Terry is
playing for the Charlotte Hornets. They're about to take on
(01:10:54):
the Pelicans. Okay, big Hornets, Pelicans tilt in March of
twenty three. All right, and so this professional better he's
in Biloxi, Mississippi. What is it with these like shit,
we were remote there, that's right, we were there.
Speaker 4 (01:11:10):
But this guy.
Speaker 2 (01:11:11):
Over he made thirty bets all on Terry Roseier to
go under, various prop bets under it just hammering unders
under under, under, under under.
Speaker 3 (01:11:24):
And what do you know? He was right?
Speaker 2 (01:11:26):
All thirty bets cashed. Terry Roseer. He exited after ten
minutes in the game, had a good first quarter, then
he had a foot issue, didn't play anymore or ever
again for the Hornets. He didn't play the last you know,
eight games or whatever was left on the schedule, and
he was gone, and so like, the Feds are still
(01:11:46):
looking into this, and these are the new details that
have been released. Now, the really interesting part here is
that the NBA already did an investigation and already cleared
Terry Rosier, and they put out the state but where
they're like, yeah, hopefully the federal investigation they see what
we see, which is there's nothing to see here whatsoever.
(01:12:06):
And now all of a sudden you get details of
all these shady bets. It's over thirteen thousand dollars of bets.
This professional better. He made one wager for twenty seven
hundred dollars over the counter, right, he used his player's card.
Everything else was at a kiosk. He's just throwing a
hundred dollars bills under under a more hundred under under it,
(01:12:28):
and he hits all these bets. And you gotta wonder
was there anything that wasn't on the up and up?
Why did this guy? What information did he have where
he's hammering unders like this? And Terry Rozier leaves with
the foot injury like it doesn't quite pass the smell test.
So we'll see where this thing goes.
Speaker 5 (01:12:48):
I get where your head's at, and I completely understand
why everybody would say, man, this looks really bad for Terry,
and it could be, but you you also have to
play devil's advocate and presume innocence before guilt in a
lot of these situations. And here's why, because, look, there
are certain players who are highly guarded about their injury situations,
(01:13:11):
and there are certain players who aren't. And there's also
certain people when they're playing professional sports who've got buddies
who you know, have big mouths, and there's some guys
who really coach up those close to them to say, hey, look,
if I share any sensitive information with you, you got
to understand it's between you and me.
Speaker 3 (01:13:33):
And that trust factor now.
Speaker 5 (01:13:37):
Can have some significant ramifications, and we're discussing one of those. Look,
this could been as simple as Terry talking to his brother,
talking to a cousin, talking to his dad or his
stepdad or a friend, and then that person whoever it was,
spoke to somebody else, and that person may have, in
(01:14:00):
a daisy chain kind of way, spoke to somebody else. Man,
Terry's really got a bad foot injury, man, you know,
And then all of a sudden, whoever gets their hands
on that information, who either is a compulsive better or
a professional better and things they can get away with
using a little insider information from a source they trust
(01:14:21):
to get an edge on the books. Well, all of
a sudden, that's how these type of things happen. So
I guess my point is, where there's smoke, there isn't
always fire. You know, sometimes you know the Okham's razor
test fails where the simplest explanation isn't the correct explanation.
So maybe Terry had nothing to do with this. It
(01:14:42):
just appears that he does. The first investigation found him innocent.
I'm hoping the next one finds him innocent again because I.
Speaker 3 (01:14:50):
Hate that this. I hate that this happens.
Speaker 5 (01:14:53):
It does happen, but I do appreciate the the the
fact that there are safeguards against it happened.
Speaker 4 (01:15:01):
Just real quick.
Speaker 6 (01:15:02):
Rich is right and here's why. Yeah, the Better made
thirteen grand on this. Terry Rosier's game checks three hundred
thousand dollars, Like, it just doesn't make sense why Terry
would get involved with this. Additionally, if you read go
to the bottom of the ESPN story and David Pertner
does a fantastic job with this stuff.
Speaker 4 (01:15:20):
But if you go to bottom of the story.
Speaker 6 (01:15:21):
Some of the same betting accounts and I'm just reading
this robatim, some of the same betting accounts that wagered
on Porter also bet on the Rosier props in addition
to college basketball games that were flagged. This is an insider,
professional gambler who has access to inside information and bets
independently of any player involvement. I don't think Terry had
anything to do with this. The game check number was
(01:15:42):
too high. He only made thirteen grand on these bets,
and this account clearly has access to inside information. So
I think it will be one of those situations where
Terry does get cleared again.
Speaker 2 (01:15:56):
It could be, could be, and hopefully it will. But
just like what you're saying, I agree, just because wow,
look at this situation here, and well look at Terry
at the foot issue, and like you said, the John
Tay Porter like betters or in on this. Just because
it looks shady doesn't mean it absolutely is shady. But
(01:16:17):
the other can be true as well, just because you know, hey,
it could be any number of things. Could be a
teammate that knows that his foot injury is messed up
and that's how someone got the information. It could be anything.
It could also be Terry could could I'm not saying
it is, but it could. So we'll see where this goes.
NBA said, you're good. We'll see what the Feds say. Hey,
(01:16:39):

the prop betting market. Do we go Baseball? Do we
go Summer League?
Speaker 4 (01:17:12):
What do we do?
Speaker 2 (01:17:13):
Where do we go?
Speaker 3 (01:17:14):
Where do we turn?

Speaker 1 (01:17:51):
Prop it up plays?
Speaker 2 (01:17:54):
Yes, the prop betting market, Jared, we start with you
with a something that you like.
Speaker 3 (01:17:58):
Sh is football back.
Speaker 4 (01:18:01):
Yet almost not quite?
Speaker 6 (01:18:04):
Okay, I'll go back to baseball then under I'll take
the under twelve and a half days till the Hall
of Fame game.
Speaker 4 (01:18:09):
How about that? Now, I'm just kidding guys. I'm very
excited football coming back very.
Speaker 3 (01:18:12):
Soon this month.
Speaker 6 (01:18:13):
This month, we will have a free season game on
our television.
Speaker 4 (01:18:16):
I will give you Brandon low over one and a half.
Speaker 6 (01:18:19):
Per If you're just joining us, what the heck is
heer hits runs RBIs But why do I like this market?
Speaker 4 (01:18:26):
If again, go back to our Harlay Platter segment.
Speaker 6 (01:18:28):
If you really want more details on it, But I
like prop markets that reward players for doing their job.
Total bases hits, you have to do something specific hits
runs RBIs could be a sack fly, could be a walk,
stolen base, and a run scored could also be a hit.
Speaker 4 (01:18:46):
I like being rewarded for doing your job.
Speaker 6 (01:18:48):
You don't get rewarded on a total base market if
you get a sack fly, you do in the hits
runs a RBI's market. And Brandon Law has great numbers
against Being Kramer, who is the Orioles starting pitcher today.
Speaker 4 (01:18:59):
Brandon Lao, a hitter for the Tampa Bay Rays.
Speaker 6 (01:19:02):
Five for thirteen, double ed, a home run career against
Cosmo Kramer and crazy splits for Law. Llow's a left
handed hitter, Kramer, Kramer's a right handed pitcher, and Lao
as a lefty, really good numbers against Rady's average about
one hundred points higher OPS about two hundred and fifty
points higher. So although Brandon low over one and a
half hits, runs HARBX.
Speaker 3 (01:19:22):
Okay, I'll make this short and sweet.
Speaker 5 (01:19:25):
I got Red Sox pitcher Brian BeO under four and
a half strikeouts. He's facing the Cup today first and foremost,
the Cups bats have been some of the more impressive
offensively in Major League Baseball this season. Also, Brian Bao
averaging just under seven case per nine this season, well
below the threshold needed to clear that four and a
(01:19:45):
half strikeouts in a typical five to six inning start,
which is what he's averaging. So yeah, I'll take the
under there four and a half strikeouts for Bayo.
Speaker 2 (01:19:55):
All right, I like it, you know, I'm glad. We
had Seamus McGee on from at MGM talking about these
crazy WNBA All Star rules. I had no idea. There's
a four point shot. If you get fouled while shooting,
you don't have to shoot free throws. Like, we'll just
count it as good. It's like, okay, I'll take Sabrino
(01:20:16):
Yanesku over at least twenty plus points. Twenty plus points
is minus a dollar thirty. It's a four point shot.
You don't have to shoot free throws. It's just automatically good. Yeah,
I'll take her to score twenty. You could actually ladder this.
You could go to twenty five, you could go thirty,
you could go all the way up to thirty five
if you want it. But I'll just take twenty plus
(01:20:38):
at minus one thirty. I think that's I think it's
a good play. And also, Adrian Hauser, I'll go back
to the well the White Sox pitcher give me over
seventeen and a half outs against the Pirates who are
offensively challenged. Interestingly, Adrian Hawser, because Era is so low
one p fifty six, He's gone at least six innings
(01:20:59):
in a eat if his nine starts this season, So
I think that makes sense too. All right, coming up next,
the rumor mill is eating up.
Speaker 3 (01:21:07):
Oh what is going on?
Speaker 2 (01:21:08):
Happy Saturday too? You hope things are going swimmingly. We
will get to the hot new rumors in just a
couple of seconds. Hey, score bigger at bet mgm when
you win with boost tokens, odds, boost tokens and more.

with bet MGM today and get all these great betting options,
(01:21:30):
including new look, same game parlays, teasers, live bets, and
so much more. So a little bit of hoops for
you guys new rumors. I don't know how much truth
there will be to them. But uh, Yannis Attetta Kumbo.
I know all the locals are like, here we go
with the national guys talking about Yada's going somewhere else
(01:21:52):
and YadA YadA. The new rumors are watch out for
the New York Knicks. Huh looking at you, honest, Hey,
We'll see, We'll see if Jannis that's the first Domino.
Does Giannis want out? Does he want to go elsewhere?
I think, and he's made it clear he doesn't want
to only win one championship. He's dead serious about winning
(01:22:14):
another championship. If he is, then Milwaukee is not the
place for him. That that roster is not championship worthy.
Even with Jannis, You've got Kyle Kuzma starting like you
don't have the depth. I know there are some injury
issues in the East with Tatum and Halliburton, but even
the Bucks as is, they are not true title contenders.
(01:22:36):
They're not contenders to come out of the East. With
the amount of competition around them and some of the
upgrades with some of the teams that they've made in
the offseason, I think Atlanta's gonna be a lot better.
I think Orlando has a better roster top to bottom
than the Bucks do right now. So if Jannis wants out,
the Knicks would be a very interesting landing spot, and
(01:22:57):
we don't need to get into the you know, the
weeds of what the trade package would look like and
would that entice the Bucks that if Yanna says I
want to go elsewhere, it's like, well, the Knicks might
be one of those spots where the Bucks would look
to trade them.
Speaker 5 (01:23:13):
Yeah, well, I mean, and there could be some capital
coming back to the Bucks. But focusing on Yannis, it's
a huge market. We know that as players age they
start thinking about their pocketbook and obviously their legacy. Having
one championship, the work's not done there. But would you
(01:23:35):
rather you know, spend the rest of your days in
a small market Midwest town as opposed to going to
one of the biggest, most influential cities in the world.
I mean that is a part of free agency, or
in the NBA expanded free agency, which is forcing your
way out of certain markets to get to others like
(01:23:56):
so many players have done before. And also, there isn't
the stigma attached to player movement like there used to
be even ten years ago when Lebron jumped ship on Cleveland,
and I know, yeah, deeper roots.
Speaker 3 (01:24:10):
In Ohio than Giannis does obviously in Milwaukee.
Speaker 5 (01:24:14):
But like when he left Cleveland, I mean that was
people were gassed.
Speaker 3 (01:24:19):
You know.
Speaker 5 (01:24:20):
He had to really return and make it right with
those people for NBA fans, not just Cleveland Cavaliers fans,
to make that feel okay. But I mean since then,
we see player movement all the time, and we see
player movement to chase legacy and chase rings. Kevin Durant
going to the Warriors. I mean, this just isn't stigmatized
and his leverage is real. I mean, player power isn't
(01:24:44):
It is imbalanced, you know, the same way we were
talking about how the NFL PA is a pretty weak
union by comparison, the NBA PA is pretty powerful and
the players have a lot of sway when it comes
to choosing whether or not they want to honor their contracts.
So if we're talking just in practicality terms, Brian, is
(01:25:08):
it possible and would the Knicks be an alluring destination
for Giannis? The answer is one hundred percent yes. And
after getting such bad publicity for the hiring of their
new head coach, the New York Knicks are looking for
a win in the New York media, So this this
would do that, this would be counted as a win. Yeah,
(01:25:31):
this would be I mean, this would be about as
big of a win.
Speaker 6 (01:25:35):
And you're talking to a Knicks fan here, and it doesn't.
It takes a lot for this Knicks fan to get
excited because.
Speaker 4 (01:25:41):
I've been down this road before.
Speaker 6 (01:25:44):
Many times and it always leads to pain and suffering,
just like this year. And I can't speak to the
validity of the rumor. I can say it comes from
a source that I trust. And I can also say that,
based off my analysis of the situation, Yannis staying in
(01:26:06):
Milwaukee would be a.
Speaker 3 (01:26:07):
Very loyal.
Speaker 6 (01:26:10):
I would say over like to a fault loyal decision
based off of the Bucks decision.
Speaker 4 (01:26:17):
To cut ties with Dame Lillard.
Speaker 6 (01:26:20):
That I think the fact that the Bucks are willing
to pay the bulk of Dame Lillard's contract to not
play for Milwaukee anymore, I think speaks volumes about where
they are as a franchise right now. It reminds me
of the scene in Moneyball, great movie Brad Pitt in
the batting cage with David not the real David Justice,
(01:26:40):
the actor that's playing David Justice and he's having this
conversation about you know, hey, we want you to do
it this way, this way, and David Justice like, no,
I'm going to do things my way. And then Brad Pitt,
you know, playing Billy Bean, says to him, the Yankees
are paying you X million dollars to play against them.
What does that say about you? You know, and how
(01:27:02):
the Yankees feel about you? And that's not a knock
on Dame, but it speaks to where the Bucks are
as a franchise that they're willing to just move on
and cut ties with one of the better guards in
the sport.
Speaker 4 (01:27:15):
And I know he's coming off of an.
Speaker 6 (01:27:16):
Injury, but he was under contract for another, i think
two or three years and they said.
Speaker 3 (01:27:22):
No, we're good.
Speaker 6 (01:27:22):
We're just going to pay out the rest of your
contract and you can go wherever you want, Bud. And
it just it really does speak to where Milwaukee is
as a franchise. And I think if Giannis catches wind
of that and feels like the Bucks are not building
a franchise that wants to win a championship, but they're
just kind of rebuilding, then yeah, I think this is
(01:27:45):
an easy decision for him to sit down with the
Bucks brass and say this isn't working. Trade me somewhere else,
get your draft picks. You can rebuild the right way,
and I'll go try to win a championship. Because it's
clear that you don't want to win one another one.
You know, you don't want to win again. So I
do think an like once the Dame news happened, Brian,
(01:28:07):
my initial thought was, when's Gianni's gonna opt out?
Speaker 4 (01:28:11):
And it does feel like that end is coming soon.
Speaker 2 (01:28:15):
I don't know it's because this could go the exact
opposite way. It really depends on how Yanis looks at it,
because you could look at it and say, hey, the Bucks,
they're being as proactive as possible. They they're willing to
pay Damian Lillard all that money because they want to
be as viable as possible and have as good of
(01:28:37):
a supporting cast for Yannis as possible for the here
and now, you know, and it's a huge risk. They
they're gonna pay Dame all that money to not play
for them, And they signed Miles Turner, they signed some
of their other guys. They're trying to make the supporting
cast as good as possible and make it as appealing
as possible for Yannis next season. So it's possible he
(01:29:01):
looks at this as glass half full, like man, they've
they've really done as much as they can here. There
are a lot of franchises that would just shrug their
shoulders and be like, man, Dame's hurt. That sucks, but
we're handcuffed. There's really not much we can do. And
they said, yeah, we can use this stretch provision over
here and just buy them out and then try to
sign Miles Turner and make some moves, do what we can.
(01:29:24):
So it really is in the eye of the beholder.
It could be he looks at it the way you said, Jared,
or he looks at it whatever I just said right there.
But I think that look, I think that the Bucks.
The best thing for them would be if Jannis says,
I need to go somewhere else, because it's clear they're
(01:29:44):
not capable and it's totally unwanted for them to make
the hard decision. The hard decision is trading Yannis, because
that is your only viable path forward. If you look
at this objectively. If Jannis rees the Bucks are the
Westbrook Thunder, that's what they are. It's Giannis is gonna
(01:30:06):
go ballistic, put up these huge numbers, and the Bucks
are gonna lose right away in the playoffs. They lost
three years in a row in the first round with
Westbrook putting up insane numbers, averaging triple doubles for the
entire season. You know, first round exits one after another.
That's what the Bucks are gonna be. Why would you
risk your future for that? It doesn't make sense. Why
(01:30:29):
would you risk Yannis? He's had you know, like achilles tightness,
calf injuries. But why would you risk Yannis getting hurt
and ruining all that trade value. You don't have picks,
you don't have financial flexibility, you don't have a viable
path forward. Trading Yannis is your only path forward where
(01:30:50):
you have a better window and you go younger and
hopefully you're had a better chance to really compete for
a championship when the landscape is more in your favor.
It's not in your favor right now, so they're not
willing to make the hard decision. So the best case
scenario for them, in my opinion, is Yannis doing that
for them and saying I want to go elsewhere and
(01:31:10):
then they're forced to trade him. I think that would
be the best thing for the Bucks.
Speaker 5 (01:31:15):
Yeah, the Bucks have handcuffed themselves salary wise, and they look,
the results are the results. They've underperformed. And that's not
necessarily Yannis's fault. He's one of the best in the
league at what he does. It's the surrounding cast. And
I mean, can you control an achilles tear?
Speaker 6 (01:31:37):
No?
Speaker 5 (01:31:38):
Can you control underperformance from draft picks or free agent
acquisitions or acquisitions in trade? Not always, And so it
is what it is. But the results speak loudly. And
I agree with what you said. I mean they need
the draft capital too. I mean the Bucks are hurting.
Their future is uncertain if they keep y honest, they
(01:31:59):
need to kind of refill the stores.
Speaker 3 (01:32:02):
Their cabinets are barren right now. So where do you go?
Speaker 5 (01:32:05):
You're in You're you're in salary Hell, you have, like
you said, an aging superstar and you you have no
forward progress moves.
Speaker 3 (01:32:15):
It almost feels like, in some ways.
Speaker 5 (01:32:17):
Secretly, behind the scenes, they're hoping Yannis requests the trade,
so they're not the ones holding the guilt on his
way out of town.
Speaker 6 (01:32:26):
Yeah, I mean, I think the response to it is
Brian like, and I get your your take. There's a
chance that Johannest does view it in that way, But
what do you like? What do you handy gat the
odds of that, Like, if you were honest right now,
do you say he's leaning in that direction or would
you say he's leaning in the direction of I don't
(01:32:47):
think basically cutting Dame Lillard and adding Miles Turner is
helping the situation.
Speaker 4 (01:32:52):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:32:53):
I'll say I don't know what he's thinking or where
he's leaning. But if I were him, I'd be looking
at that with my question. Yeah, yeah, I'd be like,
that's cool that you guys are making moves and doing
all that you can. I think they really have done
all they can. But at the end of the day,
the roster is what it is, and it's exactly good enough.
So if he's serious about winning a title, it's not there.
Speaker 6 (01:33:14):
Yeah, that's where I'm at. And if that's where I'm at,
imagine where Yiannis is at right right. Because I'm not
an NBA roster expert. I mean, I play one on
radio sometimes, but when I look at the Buck roster,
I see I see a lot of average and one
(01:33:35):
great player.
Speaker 4 (01:33:36):
Right, and you need I think two probably two and
a half great players to win an NBA title, and
you need a really good bench. And that's not what
the Bucks at.
Speaker 6 (01:33:46):
I mean, let's just go through the roster, like, let's
just go through the depth chart right now as it's constructed.
Kevin Porter, Junior, Gary Trent, Kyle Kuzma, Miles Turner. That's
the starting five outside of Janness. Here's your bench. Cole
Anthony and Prince, Bobby Portis, AJ Green, Jericho Sims, Ryan Rollins.
Speaker 4 (01:34:03):
I'm getting deep into the I like it, yeah, but.
Speaker 3 (01:34:08):
I think we played for the Phillies in TI.
Speaker 6 (01:34:11):
Yes, seriously, Like like just the starting lineup Kevin Porter junior,
Gary Trent Junior, Kyle Kuzma, Miles Turner and Giannis.
Speaker 3 (01:34:22):
Yeah, I mean.
Speaker 6 (01:34:24):
What if you're Giannis looking at this, and I'm not
knocking these players, they're especially Myles Turner's had a really
accomplished career. But the Eastern Conference is wide open right now.
Anyone can win it.
Speaker 4 (01:34:38):
If you're Giannis, you're probably thinking everyone can win it
but us, because I don't think we can win it
with this thruster.
Speaker 2 (01:34:45):
I'm really curious to see what the off season, how
it shapes up, you know, because it's getting to be
go time if the Bucks are moving him, if Jannis
wants to be moved, We're getting around the time where
that's gonna need to take place, you know, So see
how it goes. And yeah, the other layer is Damian
Lillard going back to the Blazers, Like how all this
(01:35:06):
stuff works together. The Bucks still owe draft picks for
the Drew Holidays. Oh my god, they're teammates now in
Portland Dame who they still owe draft picks for, Like
Drew Holiday who they still owe draft picks for. Those
guys are teammates again with the Blazers. So you want
(01:35:27):
to talk about a lack of draft capital, that would
be the Milwaukee Bucks. And that's because they've been so aggressive.
I take my hat off to them. They've been so
aggressive trying to build around Yannis. But it's gotten to
a point where it's like the New Orleans Saints, you know,
when they keep kicking the can down the road, keep
that It's like this is a credit card bill that
comes due. You can only make so many trades and
(01:35:50):
so many deals that involve future picks and have any
viable future. They just don't. They don't have picks. You
need picks, Like we just saw the final with the
Pacers and Okase all the depth. You can't build great
depth when you've made all these trades to try to
get difference makers and it goes the way it did.
(01:36:11):
It worked with Drew Holliday, they won a title, awesome.
Unfortunately it didn't work with Dame. It didn't mesh those
two seasons and then unfortunately got hurt as not their
fault at all. They were aggressive, just didn't work out
one of those things.
Speaker 5 (01:36:25):
Yeah, and now Dame goes back to Portland and that
homecoming is an interesting one.
Speaker 6 (01:36:31):
You know.
Speaker 3 (01:36:31):
It's funny.
Speaker 5 (01:36:32):
We were sitting around speculating, Brian, like, where the heck
is this guy gonna go?
Speaker 3 (01:36:36):
And what is our contract gonna look like?
Speaker 5 (01:36:38):
Because Milwaukee's on the hook for so much money and
it's a pretty lucrative deal for Dame because was it
three years, forty two million dollars and a lot of
player control in this one, no trade clause, an option
for Dame. I mean, man again, it's sort of it's
it's painting the same picture we were just painting for
(01:36:59):
the past fifteen minute. It's about Milwaukee, like they are
still on the hook for so much of Dame's contract
and then he's double dipping because you're allowed to in
the NBA at least once. Maybe it's more than that.
I know it's only once in your career. In the NFL,
it's crazy. It's crazy though, Uh this league. Look, the
(01:37:20):
players have so much control. I think that's the bottom line.
And I think in certain cases that really injures and
hampers a team's way forward.
Speaker 3 (01:37:29):
And sometimes it can be helpful.
Speaker 5 (01:37:30):
So to put a bow on the conversation about Milwaukee, man,
it may help them. If Yannis requests a trade, it
really may help them. Yeah, yeah, yeah, and I think
I think that's what they want.
Speaker 4 (01:37:42):
Do you think they don't trade him unless he requests it?
Speaker 2 (01:37:47):
No way they would. They should, but they won't cause
there their moves show you that their moves that they're
they're try. We got Miles Turner, you honestly, we did this,
We signed this guy, we resigned that guy like good. Yeah,
it's like they should want Giannis to say I need
to go, but they don't. Their moves show you that
they don't feel that way.
Speaker 6 (01:38:07):
Interesting because like the way that I viewed the Turner move,
it was just like desperation, like not we're.
Speaker 4 (01:38:13):
Building a championship, but like we needed to add someone.
Speaker 6 (01:38:15):
So here you go, you know, like I thought, I
thought the Lillard move was the sign that they were
not interested in really winning a championship, because if you
really are interested in winning a championship, you keep Lillard
and you add Turner and then you say, hey Dame, listen,
or hey hey Yannis listen. Dame's gonna come back and
(01:38:36):
you have Miles Turner and then we're gonna build this
thing up. But when you pay Dame to not be
on the team anymore, that is the indicator of a
team that is rebuilding and that has no desire to
really compete this year. That's the way I viewed the
Dame move.
Speaker 2 (01:38:56):
I look at it differently. I look at it where
we can't get Turner unless we do this thing with Dame,
like we're hitting aprons. You know, there's all these implications
we can't do both. So this is the path we
had to take to get Turner and to do all
these other things.
Speaker 4 (01:39:13):
Is they're still paying Dame regardless, right.
Speaker 2 (01:39:16):
But it's at it's at a lower number and you
don't hit the same apron stuff, right, Like, you can't
do everything. You know, you're able to stretch this out
over five years paying.
Speaker 6 (01:39:27):
I understand the stretch, but there's no but you're not
replace You didn't replace him with anyone. You just cut
your point guard and there's no point guard to replace him. Like,
the way I viewed it is, if they really wanted
to compete this year, they would have signed a point
guard who can play Dame's position.
Speaker 4 (01:39:43):
That's why it was really confusing.
Speaker 3 (01:39:45):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I don't understand.
Speaker 6 (01:39:54):
You cut your I mean, I know the best player,
but you essentially cut your best backcourt player and you
replace him with nobody.
Speaker 2 (01:40:02):
Well, I think what it is like, we got to
do everything we can because Giannis could walk, Jannis could
ask for a trade, So they're doing everything they possibly can.
Speaker 4 (01:40:13):
Then why not deal with one year of the apron?
Speaker 2 (01:40:16):
Well that's you can't you can't deal with the second
the second or apron is a no go.
Speaker 4 (01:40:21):
It's just is it really that punit one?
Speaker 2 (01:40:24):
Yeah, it's so bad.
Speaker 4 (01:40:26):
You really have I don't know enough about it yet
to really make that opinion.
Speaker 6 (01:40:31):
It's like, yeah, it's real it's really that bad because
I would have dealt with it for one year.
Speaker 4 (01:40:35):
If a man keeping Giannis for another ten or five,
you know.
Speaker 2 (01:40:39):
It's pretty bad. We could get to it, you know.
I'll throw you a couple of things your way. Right
around the corner, We've got rich Oin Berger, Penn State

Apron talk.
Speaker 4 (01:41:13):
Yeah, that's exactly.
Speaker 6 (01:41:17):
So.
Speaker 2 (01:41:17):
There are a couple of quick facts, real quick, real fast.
And also, man, this player and the team he plays
for are a bad couple. We'll get to that as well.
It is Fox Sports Radios Countdown presented by bet MGM.
It is Fox Sports Radios Countdown presented by bet MGM,
and it is time for the tire rack play of
(01:41:39):
the day.
Speaker 1 (01:41:41):
High and deep to right.
Speaker 4 (01:41:45):
Over toward the line of coon you just got it.
Speaker 1 (01:41:48):
Tagging from second is be boss, whoam are you kidding me?
Speaker 4 (01:41:58):
A frozen rope?
Speaker 1 (01:42:00):
Febots cannot believe it?
Speaker 2 (01:42:04):
Yeah, just insanity. Ronald Cunya Junior with an insane throw.
That's complements of Braves TV. For over forty years, ty
Iraq has been helping customers find the right tires for how,
what and where they drive, ship fast and free back
by free road hazard protection with convenient installation options like
mobile tire installation tiraq dot com the way tire buying
(01:42:25):
should be. He had a Kunya junior. He threw the
ball three hundred and one feet on a frozen rope.
Speaker 3 (01:42:33):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:42:34):
He caught the ball near the warning track, deep and
right field and threw the ball on the fly to
the third baseman, tagged out the Yankees base runner. That
was a sensational play by a Kunya junior and no
crow hop, just flat footage and just like just set
that ball soaring. That was crazy man crazy. One of
(01:42:55):
the better plays you'll see, let me throw a ball
in here and we'll get to the an apron. But
you know, second apron is, you know, almost like legal Leese.
Speaker 4 (01:43:03):
At this point, I.
Speaker 2 (01:43:04):
Feel like I'm starting to scratch my neck. You know,
I need a ball fix over here. You know, I
need some football. Did you see this story with Colts
quarterback Anthony Richardson? So at Adam Schefter tweeted this out
that Anthony Richardson is believed to have recovered from his
recent right shoulder setback as the team prepares to report
(01:43:26):
for training camp next week. And Uh, look, man, uh
maybe Anthony Richardson, maybe he turns a corner, Maybe he's
blessed with better health. Maybe he starts performing better passing
wise than he has. His completion percentage was under forty
eight percent last season, under forty eight percent in today's NFL.
(01:43:48):
It is a bad situation. I think the Colts have
completely mishandled him. Man, he needed to he needed to
not start right away. He barely played in college, and
they threw him in right away as a rookie quarterback
and it has not gone well ever since. I think
that they were eager to a fault and I don't
(01:44:09):
want to make it sound like if you sit a
guy a year or two years, that he's destined for stardom.
That's not what I'm saying. But I can tell you
if you throw a guy in there before he's ready
to be thrown in, you can wreck him. And I
think Anthony Richardson is wrecked. I mean, it's great, his
shoulder seems to be better, but I'm not expecting anything
this season, and I don't know if we're ever going
(01:44:31):
to see anything from him in his NFL career. It
might be too late already.
Speaker 5 (01:44:36):
Chronic injury concerns. That's a huge red flag. The inaccuracy
and inconsistent mechanics. Whenever you go on to one of
those YouTube pages where former quarterback is breaking down Anthony
Richardson and his throwing motion and his footwork when he's
trying to place the ball, they'll cite poor mechanics. Plus
(01:44:59):
the bench competition, all of a sudden bringing in Danny Dimes. Yeah,
kind of a fresh look for the offensive huddle. Look,
that's whatever you want to say about Daniel Jones and
his history in the NFL. The reality of the situation
is he's a veteran knows how to handle himself in
a lot of different situations. And so when you have
(01:45:22):
a guy who's threatening for a starting job, who knows
how to speak to his teammates, commands the huddle, and
is looking for a fresh start in many different ways,
that can be an unbelievably uncomfortable situation for a starting
quarterback who hasn't had as bumpy a tenure as Anthony Richardson.
(01:45:46):
And then you know some of the mental preparation red flags.
He tapped out during a game. Yeah, are you kidding me? Yeah,
I mean I've never heard of it. I mean, I
simply have never heard of it. If I have, I've
deleted it from my memory banks. He's one of the
very few in the history of sports where they kind
(01:46:09):
of I mean Roberto Duran, his entire career is summed
up with two words, and they're in Espanol.
Speaker 3 (01:46:16):
No moss, no moss.
Speaker 5 (01:46:18):
Yeah, I mean, Roberto Duran had literally granite for fi.
The guy could punch through stone. He was an unbelievable boxer.
But because he quit during a fight, he is defined
by two words, no moss.
Speaker 3 (01:46:35):
You can't do it. It's a terrible, terrible albatross.
Speaker 5 (01:46:41):
To be hanging around Anthony Richardson's neck, and I look,
I mean, it is what it is. The cults are
a little bit stuck here. They drafted him what third overall,
so you kind of have to see this thing through.
But my goodness, don't stay too.
Speaker 3 (01:46:58):
Late at that party.
Speaker 5 (01:46:59):
The Arizona Cardinals made a mistake drafting Rosen, and they
quickly tore the band aid off and they drafted Yeah,
you're right right away, and that organization obviously pivoted quickly
and they reaped the benefits of playoff visits as a
result of that. I obviously the Colts haven't responded as quickly,
(01:47:21):
they haven't done anything as urgent as all that, but
it feels like they probably should move on at this point.
Speaker 6 (01:47:31):
Yeah, I mean, the numbers are not pretty and then
you mentioned tapping out. The only defense I have is
he's twenty three years old, and you know, he's very young,
and they obviously drafted him young right like he was,
didn't have as much experience coming out of college, didn't
have as many reps. And you just hope that he
matures and learns from it, because, let's be honest, the
(01:47:53):
rest of this Colts team is ready to roll.
Speaker 3 (01:47:55):
Man.
Speaker 6 (01:47:56):
They just drafted Tyler Warren. We love Pittman, we love Downs,
we love Pierce. They are coming off really good years
despite the fact that the quarterback situation wasn't good. We
love Jonathan Taylor, I certainly love Shane Steiken. I really
love lou Ana Roumo, their new defensive coordinator who got
cast off from Cincinnati after I don't know what happened
(01:48:17):
with the Bengals, but he was like one of the brightest.
Speaker 4 (01:48:19):
Minds in the sport.
Speaker 6 (01:48:20):
He was the only defensive coordinator that could go into
Kansas City and shut down Patrick Mahomes who.
Speaker 4 (01:48:25):
Win an NFC championship.
Speaker 6 (01:48:27):
So if they can figure out the quarterback situation in Indy,
the rest of that team feels like they're ready to roll.
Speaker 4 (01:48:35):
Like I like what they did in free agency.
Speaker 6 (01:48:37):
They added buying them, added a couple of defensive pieces again,
drafted Warren, drafted j T Tuamalo, the kid from Ohio
State who I think is going to be a rock star.
Traver's Wards the other corner that they signed in free agency.
I mean, man, if you can fig and maybe it
is Daniel Jones, but if Stiking can figure out a
(01:48:57):
way to push the right buttons with either one of
these guys, the rest of this Colts team feels like
they are primed to win the AFC South because I'll
be honest, that division feels like it's up for grabs.
Houston did not look good down the stretch. Jacksonville is
working in a new head coach, and obviously the Titans
have a rookie quarterback, So I there's a lot of
(01:49:19):
upside not only in this division, but with this situation
if either Richardson or Jones can exercise the demons. For
Richardson it's obviously the accuracy and just his overall mentality.
And for Daniel Jones, it's getting a new lease on
life in with a second chance with a new team
(01:49:40):
with a quarterbright like Brian Dable was able to get
enough out of Daniel Jones to bring the Giants to
the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (01:49:46):
Why can't chance they can do that?
Speaker 9 (01:49:49):
Man?
Speaker 2 (01:49:49):
It's uh, I mean, you've got what they the a
rich Danny Dimes combo platter, you know, It's that's one
of the reasons you might not be able to do it.
That's you're not exactly working with upper echelon quarterback talent.
Speaker 3 (01:50:05):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:50:06):
That's the first part of this, and that's where I
think it's not just Anthony Richardson has been bad for
the Colts. The Colts have been bad bad for Anthony Richardson. Right,
it works. It's I'm sure you've had friends throughout the
years where your buddy has a girlfriend and you'll see
them just arguing constantly and you're like, man, you guys
are not good for each other. That's how I feel.
Not that the Colts are arguing with Anthony Richardson, but
(01:50:29):
they're just not a good mix. They're not good for
each other. Anthony Richardson's numbers two years in rival Tim
Tebow's NFL quarterback numbers. That is not where you want
to be. He is neck and neck. You're like side
by side with Tim Tebow. They're in the same could
a sack, you know what I mean? A rich goes
to get the mail, Hey Tim, oh hey, hey rich
(01:50:50):
Like they're neck and neck. That's not where you want
to be. And then if you look at the Colts,
this is what blows my mind. One of you guys
mentioned Patrick Mahomes just second ago. If you look at
Anthony Richardson and Patrick Mahomes in college, the reps, you get,
the passing attempts that you have, they all matter. Anthony
(01:51:11):
Richardson had under four hundred passing attempts at Florida. That's nothing.
He didn't have experience. Mahomes had almost a thousand more
passing attempts at Texas Tech. And then you had Mahomes
sit almost his entire rookie season. He played one game.
He started one game his rookie year. Anthony Richardson started
(01:51:33):
right away, it was like Week four, whatever it was.
He's starting games. And if anybody needed to be arrested
for that season, it was Anthony Richardson. But they threw
him right in. He wasn't ready. That's why I think
they're both bad for each other. It's just not and
it might be too far gone. It really might be,
but we'll see. I promised you some second Apron facts
(01:51:56):
real quick. I want to throw them your way quickly here, Jared.
First off, think about the Boston Celtics. They were in
like second Apron territory and they're like, all right, trade Porzingis,
trade Drew Holiday, get out of the second You do
what you gotta do, Just get out of the second
Apron right, these are some of the penalties you get
hit with. You get all the first Apron penalties, and
(01:52:19):
that's a bunch of stuff like signing trades or not
permitted this and that and all these other things. So
you get all the first Apron penalties and the second
Apron stuff. On top of that, you cannot have access
to your mid level exception in free agency. You don't
even have it. You can't trade first round picks for
seven years out. From seven years out, you can't trade
(01:52:41):
first rounders. Think how many first round picks are involved
in trades?
Speaker 3 (01:52:45):
You know?
Speaker 2 (01:52:46):
You can't use trade exceptions from previous years. You can't
use cash and trades. This is my favorite one. Wow,
your first round pick move straight to the end of
the first round if you stay in the second apron
for three or five years.
Speaker 4 (01:53:02):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (01:53:03):
So have you that that number, that number fourteen pick
that you had, Yeah, it's number thirty. Dad's unbelievable, right
that that number nine pick you had you had top
to that's number thirty. Now you've been in the second
apron for too long.
Speaker 3 (01:53:15):
So there you go.
Speaker 5 (01:53:18):
Yeah, it's it's pretty punitive. Look, I mean it, it
stands to reason that the only way for the Bucks
to move forward is if they trade Giannis. And it
kind of feels like one of those you know scenes
in a movie where it's like it's a it's a
(01:53:40):
romantic lead saying to the other like you know, like
you know this this relation can, relationship can end, and
everybody in the audience is going why why it must
like I can't.
Speaker 3 (01:53:54):
Quit you like you gotta you gotta walk away.
Speaker 5 (01:53:58):
Like it, I mean, this is this unfortunately, I mean,
could it have worked? I mean technically it did. I
mean it netted that city a chance.
Speaker 4 (01:54:09):
They want a championship.
Speaker 3 (01:54:10):
Yeah, yeah, you know you kind of want.
Speaker 5 (01:54:14):
You want what's best for all parties involved, And for
the Bucks to have any path forward, they're going to
have to move on from Jannis. And for Yiannis, I mean,
the reality for him is I mean, if if the
Bucks make the decision, he'll look prettier for it. But
(01:54:34):
that that's probably not going to be the case. That's
just probably he's going to probably have the force issue
for this.
Speaker 2 (01:54:40):
But by the way, you know what, it's a lot
like it's like a supersized version of Dame in Portland
the first time. Yeah, you know, he's there he's the guy,
he's the made man. He's had all the success individually,
they made it to Western Conference finals, but uh, you know,
he wants to compete for a championship and now he's
gotta be the bad guy that requests the trade because
(01:55:03):
the Blazers they don't want to be the bad guy
to just trade them, you know. And Giannis is a superstar,
two time MVP on a grander scale wana title there.
So it's a greater version of what you saw with
Damon Portland, really is We've got.
Speaker 4 (01:55:20):
Does Giannis get traded before the season starts?
Speaker 2 (01:55:23):
Yes, No, only if he wants to. I'm gonna say,
I'm gonna say yes, I'm gonna say it needs to happen.
Speaker 3 (01:55:32):
Yeah, it needs to happen. We'll see.
Speaker 2 (01:55:35):

social media. Very nicely done. I saw a man there
was some riff raff on X today. Huh, some guy
coming after us or talking about the former executive director
Rich very mature.
Speaker 4 (01:57:04):
You know, Rich was much nicer than me with my bunch.
Speaker 2 (01:57:07):
Nicer I'm like, I'll let Rich handle this. I'll let
Rich handle this because you know, once I get involved,
it's just just not good.

There, defuse that situation.

Yeah, Bomb, that was impressive, very well done. It's like,
I appreciate your turn this morning.
Speaker 3 (01:57:29):
Very nice.
Speaker 2 (01:57:30):
Top of the hour up on game LeVar Arrington, t J. Huschman, Zada,
Plexico Buris. In less than nine minutes, they've got you
covered here on Fox Sports Radio. Don't move a muscle,
all right, We've got some picks to make. Let's do it.
Speaker 4 (01:57:46):
Rapid fire.
Speaker 2 (01:57:49):
All right, Jared, we start with you.
Speaker 3 (01:57:50):
What do you like?
Speaker 4 (01:57:51):
All right, let's go under eight in the Blue Jays
Giants game. This was a very low scoring game yesterday
the Giants did not score a run despite having eleven hits.
Today they get Logan Web on.
Speaker 6 (01:58:04):
The mound, who we love fantastic, having an awesome year
and Eric Lauer for Toronto sneaky good numbers and eight
starts just a two point seven eight era. So I
think another low scoring game between the Giants and the
Blue Jays is in order, and I'll give you a
couple of money lines. I'll bounce back with the Yankees
on the Braves against the Braves today. Excuse me, they
lost yesterday high scoring game. Braves had the better pitching
(01:58:24):
match up. Yesterday they had Spencer Strider against Ian Hamilton.
Today it's Will Warren, who's looked really good for the
Yanks in his outings this year, against Joey Wetz making
his first start of the year. He's a bullpen guy
with an ERA over six. So the Yankees have the
advantage on the mound today, and I'll give you the
Mariners on the money line against the Astros.
Speaker 4 (01:58:40):
This als is getting tight.
Speaker 6 (01:58:42):
Mariners with a win yesterday. They have Logan Evans on
the mound today, who's been kind of up and down
against Lance McCullers, who's also been up and down. But
I'll take the home cooking in Seattle. I think the
Mariners get the win over at the Astros and continue
their series win.
Speaker 5 (01:58:57):
Okay, give me Saint Louis Cardinals pitcher Sonny Gray over
five and a half strikeouts today against the d Backs.
He's elite ten point nine to eight k's per nine
kind of ranks among the best in Major League Baseball
d Backs striking out about twenty point five percent of
the time against right handers. And you know, Grease swinging
(01:59:18):
this stuff is award winning, so I think this bodes
well for him going over the five and a half
strikeout mark. Reds Mets. Give me the Reds as the
team to score first. A strong reason to back the
Reds is the fact that they lead Major League Baseball
on first inning runs. They're super aggressive offensively in the
first inning in terms of their plate discipline. And then
(01:59:40):
the Giants on the money line. All the reasons. Jared
just mentioned Logan web on the mound. He's been great,
they're bullpens great. I like the Giants today.
Speaker 2 (01:59:49):
Okay, you know, Jared, we think alike. I had Giants.
I almost said Raptors a Giant Blue Jays under eight
circled as well.
Speaker 3 (01:59:59):
I like that by you.
Speaker 2 (02:00:00):
Yeah, I'm gonna go with a different Toronto team. Let
me go to the Summer League Toronto Raptors. Now it's
ticked up a little bit, it's minus three and a
half now, but they have played suffocating defense all Summer
league long. I like them today against the Kings. I
actually like the Raptors to win Summer League. It's down
to the final four basically, so they're point differential. They're
(02:00:24):
almost plus sixteen, not like collectively over four games. On average,
over four games, they've won by an average about sixteen points.
This Raptors team is really good.
Speaker 3 (02:00:35):
I like them today.
Speaker 2 (02:00:36):
I'll lay the three and a half. I'll also lay
the three and a half. Not to sound the square
city here, but Portland the Blazers. They're three and one,
but their point differential is among the best in Summer League.
They're going up against Phoenix. Phoenix point differential sucks. I
like the Blazers to cover the three and a half,
and I would like to get my guy Adrian Hauser
into rapid fire the White Sox pitcher. But I'm gonna
go with Sabrina Yanescu. Give me the twenty plus points
(02:01:00):
U NBA All Star Game. We got a four point
shot and automatic free throws.
Speaker 3 (02:01:03):
I'm in
