Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is Fox Sports Countdown.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
Countdown.
Speaker 1 (00:04):
Yeah, yeah, we're breaking down the sports weekend. Hey did
the three and looking ahead at your sports week You're
listening to Fox Sports Countdown, brought to you by bet MG.
The sports was born in Vegas. The Countdown starts now
(00:24):
now live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. Here's Brian No,
Jeff Schwartz and Bill Crack Krackenberger.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
Oh what is going on? Happy Sunday to you as
uh you guys, Crack, Jep Schwartz, Brian No with you.
You're again and the fellas, Good morning to you. Everything
good we got. It's a Hall of Fame, uh, the
Hall of Fame. Good morning to you if you will, right,
Hall of Fame weekend going on here in the NFL ape.
Who is all I should say?
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Right?
Speaker 4 (00:54):
It is wonderful to see you guys again. I talk
to you guys. And it's an other day to fade
the Chicago sky without Angel Reese. Brian as you know,
they have yet to cover a game when she has
been out in the last couple of weeks. Even the
other day they were winning for most of the game
and then scored about seven points in the fourth quarter
and did not cover against the Valkyries. So another day
(01:17):
to end and why the injuries is not playing for
whatever reason, and I will continue to make money on
said thing, Brian, So I have some more props during
this game. By the way, later got a full slate
at baseball, including that makeup game. I look, I felt
bad last night. I was up doing radio last night,
and you know the game was supposed to start seven
forty ish, right, pushed a nine to forty. This is
(01:40):
the NASCAR Speedway Series game in Bristol, Tennessee. A couple
of things went against them. One is that the weather
in the South in the summer, you just never know.
There could be no rain forecast and it rains four inches.
There could be tons of rain forecast. It never rains
at all. But part of it was they're playing on
this temporary field that has no drainage, and so it's
(02:01):
just raining on top of this diamond that doesn't have
any drainage, and it's puddling up. It looks terrible. I
thought bad for baseball. But they're going to play the
game today. Interesting gambling on this crack because the game
was suspended, not not postponed. So if you have a
wager on this game, you will continue to I think,
(02:25):
be able to play whatever that was. If you got
lucky enough to take like a Burns under the Reds pitcher,
you will cash. He will not pitch again today. And
so the Braves pulled Strider immediately after the two hour rain.
Deoway And if you have a wager on this game,
I think it still stands.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
What inning did it actually? Because I'm actually.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
The bottom bottom first inning.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
Okay, almost kind of box score right now.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
Bottom first inning its suspended at one nothing, two runners
on I believe one or two outs for the Reds.
And so they again they said the word suspended, So
I think that just means it resumes today at one
o'clock as is. Obviously, i'd imagine different pictures.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
You'd have to check with your sports book, because you
have to. Every book has different rules for different types
of vets. Obviously, if you bet the game with the
pitchers that started, it didn't go, you know, eight and
a half innings.
Speaker 4 (03:26):
Well crack, it didn't even go. The starting pitchers didn't pitch,
so that got avoided. Immediately. The starter got scratched. He
was going to pitch for the Braves. He warmed up
to start the game to our regularly, they scratched him.
So if you had that wager, that's already got that way.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Yeah, avoided. Yeah, okay, so as far as I'm full,
you know, full game wagers and stuff like that, and
a lot of times you have to check with the
sports book the rules, because certain sports books have okay,
if they continue the game within twenty four hours, and
others have you know, if they if they play the
game that that day, only that specific date only so.
(04:04):
But but I understand what you're saying here. This didn't
even go an inning.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
Show, dude. I will tell you that is that's the
cheapest way I think in sports betting for books to
get out of payments, which is, if you've got the
over for the game right like it's you take over
eight and a half whatever it is, and the score
is six to three in the bottom of the second inning,
(04:27):
and somehow it rains in the seventh and the game
is shortened and you don't hit your over. That is
the lanth. Can you think of anything lamer than that?
How does the over not hit even though it didn't
go the full distance? It doesn't need to be already.
Speaker 4 (04:42):
Over, already well, most books will pay. I think most
now pay the out the over if it's hit, don't they,
Because like when I, if I playing over, I get
paid out as soon as it goes over. I think
that still pays. I've actually been fortunate where I've had
a full game money line and game ends in seven
and I got refunded if I would have lost, which
(05:03):
is nice. I've had that. At least I've had that
fortunate thing happened for baseball, I will say a couple
a couple of months ago, there was a Yankees Mariners
game that had a lot of rain involved, and a
couple buddies we were texting each other and said, Hey,
just parlay all the pitching stats under best you can find.
(05:23):
So I did. I took like the two starting pitchers
under strikeouts I think, and I think under hits, expecting
them to not pitch very long after a rain delay.
We did get a rain delay, but actually didn't go
long enough. It was only forty five minutes and one
of the pictures came back out. I actually still hit
it anyways, but I should have done that last night. Like,
that's actually interesting way if you're if you're really dialed
in absolutely, they pay attention to the weather and you
(05:46):
and you think a game is going to be delayed
after it starts, by the way, it's gotta start, like
you can't just be delayed two hours. And but this
game last night did went through introductions, they had some
pitches and then got delayed a second time. So if
you if you pay at that, especially this time of
year when when thunderstorms pop up, you can get lucky
and put all these together into a parlay and hit
(06:08):
a monster parlay at pitchers get pulled pretty quickly.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Yeah, interesting, guys. I want to tell you, guys, I'm
reading I'm reading so wage one of how many views
I got on this So I tweeted something out two
tweets ago about a sportsbook not paying people because they're
betting together. Ninety four thousand views. So that's this is
the bad news for you guys. I probably can't give
(06:32):
you guys preseason games anymore because we can't bet them together.
If you guys both bet the same sportsbook, I'm betting,
we may not get paid.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
So, man, I've told you where I wager.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
And I tried to say this, I tried to say this,
what is serious? Face Brian, and I said, I'm gonna
be and I know Jeff's gonna jump right in. No,
but I'm being funny with you guys. But so some
of these sports books though, are saying if you bet,
by the way, it's not it's not bet ongm of course,
but if you bet in a telegram with a telegram
(07:09):
chat or a group of people the same play, we
have the right not to pay you. And and this
is unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
It's kind of funny, like they refund you every time,
right Greg, If you have this telegram chat and you're wrong,
they refund you right away, don't they. That's the fine
Brant is this also?
Speaker 4 (07:30):
Isn't this also because someone tweeted out like here's my
telegram play of the day, and then a sportsbook where
responded with like, well, we're gonna limit everyone who plays
this now that we know that this is your I mean,
it was it was silly for them to do that
for them.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
Very silly, very silly. So that's the Telegram group is
a loser long term. But I actually do I went
on one of my other shows and I talked about
this group that contacted me. I have no skin in
the game. By the way, and told me that, Hey,
you know, we were all betting. You know, there was
five of us. We were at a party at my house,
(08:04):
and this guy's a giant better by the way, literally
was down a couple hundred thousand, but now one back
one hundred and twenty five or one seventy five. I
think he's one twenty five, one back one hundred and
twenty five thousand, and his buddy's also won some pretty
big money, like, you know, fifty grand, and the sportsbook's
(08:25):
refusing to play to pay. Wow, saying you guys bet
the same thing at the same time we're refusing to pay.
So automatically I said, wow, I gotta tell Jeff Schwartz,
I know, no more games.
Speaker 4 (08:37):
I don't want you to the Trump season. I have
made this very clear about preseason wagers, where they end
up being made for this exact reason. I have made
one already on my own, by the way, for next week.
We can talk about that the game, but the next
Sunday something I said, yeah, the one, the one. Because
I'm curious if my line of thinking will also be
I'll just say it out loud. I've been the Lions
(09:00):
minus one eleven money line against the Falcons for the
Week one preseason game because the Lions were atrocious. Guys,
it's not about the final score, it's about the five
turnovers and the two special teams turnovers. Dan Campbell is
going to ride them and practice this week for those mistakes.
They're going to beg for that game to come fast
(09:23):
so they can play. And their coach, I've been in
the spot before. The wins and losses do not matter.
The sloppiness does. And that was a super sloppy team
that played the Hall of Fame game, and Campbell is
gonna be on them all week. They're gonna hit a
little bit extra this week like they're gonna be get
after it. They probably cannot wait to play. Remember last
year where he Morris on the Falcons didn't play Cousins
(09:43):
or Pennex in the preseason. He was over three years.
He does not care about preseason games. So I think
the Lions here, I think this number balloons up a
little bit. So I just got a good number on
the money line for the Lions against the Falcons. I
believe it's Saturday night.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
Percent of starters played, uh Lions? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (10:04):
Zero?
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Okay, So so those no no starters at all on
the offensive line. Then like, no, it's.
Speaker 4 (10:09):
Crazy because they have a rookie offensive lineman who didn't play,
which I think is is crazy that like set a
rookie offensive linman who needs reps to in a preseason game,
which is like the still guy just needs to play.
Uh No, they played, they played nobody.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
No, it's funny. Earlier in that day, I told Russ,
I said, Russ, listen, I think that you know my
prop guy actually before the game started, said there's some
value at bat MGM on the no for the Detroit
Lions to make the playoffs. No, plus one eighty five.
(10:44):
It's such a hard bet to make, though, Like, yeah,
plus one eighty five. No, it's such a hard bet
to make because the Lions are, you know, to stay
clearly a big favorite in their division alone, never mind playoffs.
So Lions not to make the playoffs. So it's kind
of kind of interesting bet. But you know, this kid's
(11:06):
an absolute genius. So and I guess the value was
taking the plus one eighty five on. But I tell
you what, though, I actually stayed away from it.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
Yeah, I know, their schedule is noxiously difficult.
Speaker 4 (11:19):
Problem. Their schedule was like it's like all their tough
games are on the road, right, it's a really really
tough schedule.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
You're live like you have a shot to cash that bet.
But man, I look, I'm with you, Crack where it's
like they were fifteen and two and they were the
walking wounded seas. I just can't expect them to have
the same bad injury luck. Again. By the way, our
technical producer extraordinary, Chris Burfett, he got in my ear
(11:46):
and said, I got something right here.
Speaker 5 (11:47):
Yeah, I think we've covered a lot of ground first off. Also,
Lions also like keep rotating their their backup quarterbacks, so
like it was Kyle Allen to start that Hall of
Fame game, who is just atrocious. And now I think
they're gonna have hen and Hooker for the next game.
So I think that goes more to your point, Jeff,
that this seems like it might be a better preseason
(12:09):
bet for game two. Also on the telegram, thing like
if this is gonna be the policy, do I have
to worry about stuff like you know, I'm in like
our friend Jared Smith's discord, I might have to worry
about that. I don't have to worry about anyone who
gives out a tout line in the air or something
like suddenly, suddenly, now this if this is a policy
that it's like anyone talking with anyone else about their bet.
Speaker 6 (12:30):
Do we have to worry about this radio show?
Speaker 2 (12:32):
Right?
Speaker 3 (12:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (12:34):
No, people out there do not listen to what we're
saying because we'll get your lose anyway.
Speaker 4 (12:39):
Yeah, yeah, it's right if you're just not greedy about it.
Speaker 3 (12:42):
It's so stupid, like that's.
Speaker 4 (12:44):
What it is, right, Like Crack mentioned the fifty thousand dollars,
Like if you just don't bet fifty thousand dollars right now,
I know, I understand that for some people it's their business,
it's their life. Like I get it's just Cracks, it's
your business. I get what you wage your on things.
But you're also smart about it, right, you have many
different hours else you make sure that you spread it around.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
Absolutely.
Speaker 4 (13:02):
I do the same thing. I also just don't wager
a ton of money, Like enough, I wager enough towards.
I sweated out given day and I don't like losing money.
But it's not I'm not gonna get flagged because I don't.
I just don't like if you're gonna bet a ton
of money on every game, and it happens to be
the same game that a sharp group gives out. The
books are going to notice that pretty quickly.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
Right right, this was more of a smaller market WNBA prop.
If we all bet the same prop together, That's that's
what their original problem was here. About a month ago,
they were betting props together on this discord chat, by
the way, had two hundred people in the chat. So
these people bet fifty bucks, one hundred bucks. But when
(13:45):
a sports book is getting getting hit by seventy five
people at one hundred dollars that you're talking, you know
this could run into the five figures. And it just happens.
They won a couple times in a row. But by
the way, everyone got paid. No one did not get paid.
It was just a clear warning that was out there. However,
(14:05):
this group that reached me in North Jersey, Northern New Jersey,
they're out a couple hundred thousand right now, a couple
hundred thousand not being paid. So they reached out to me,
showed me all his previous bets, losing literally thirty thousand
on the game twenty thousand on the game thirty that
now he won, like I said, one hundred and twenty
(14:27):
five thousand, and they're all not being paid all of it.
It's five different ras.
Speaker 3 (14:32):
That's crazy. I don't understand some of these sports books.
They just can't have people win. But the crazy thing
is they're winning handover fist long term. It drives me crazy.
We can't have people win. You are winning like crazy
over the long haul of white. Why are you acting
the numbers?
Speaker 2 (14:51):
The numbers came out June over June was ridiculous, fifty percent,
fifty increase June over June. I'm talking about just New Jersey.
You know, ninety million in profit just for June in
the sports betting arena. So you're you're right, Brian, money
making money hand over fist all over the country, all
(15:15):
over these legal jurisdictions. So but there is trying to
set examples for people, I guess, and trying to get
it out there. But I'm going I'm going to help
these guys. I'm going to help these guys get paid.
Speaker 3 (15:26):

(17:43):
is the theme right here. We got a couple of them.
In the NFL. We've got Cowboys star pass rusher Micah
Parsons a detailed trade request on X you know, lots
of words going on. I'm done with the Cowboys. You know,
I'm over this. I'm paraphrasing, of course, but it is
war and peace in terms of the length of his
(18:03):
trade request. And then also Terry mcclurein the Washington Commander's
wide receiver he has put in his trade request as well.
It's funny too because after this detailed trade request by
Michael Parsons, this was Jerry Jones at Cowboys camp yesterday
and he's like, don't even worry about this. Basically, here's
(18:24):
Jerry Jones. Check this out.
Speaker 1 (18:25):
Jerry, are you considering trading Michael Parsons, I'm not.
Speaker 9 (18:28):
As always in any relationships or different moods at different
times of your relationship.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
That's what it is.
Speaker 9 (18:36):
Yeah, don't lose in sleepover, so JD BBS so one
thing I would say to our fan, don't lose in sleepover.
Speaker 3 (18:43):
I think that right there is sort of interesting where
if you compare trade requests in the NFL compared to
trade requests in the NBA, they are polar opposites. If
you've got a well known player in the NBA that
requests a trade, the team is basically like, okay, to
move them. We have no other choice but to move them.
The NFL, especially if it's a star, how many trade
(19:06):
requests are out there and the team is like, we're
not trading this guy at all. I don't know why
NBA teams don't do the same thing, but completely different worlds.
And then we get to the actual nuts and bolts.
Neither one of these guys is getting traded. I mean,
it's like it's soap opera city. It's the scenic route
(19:28):
to eventual contract extensions. And I mean, we can get
into the weeds with it. But it's just with the
Cowboys to see another team give up that amount of
draft capital and then pay Micah Parsons huge money. The Cowboys,
this is what they do. Man they just drag it
out unnecessarily and end up signing the guy with the
(19:49):
Commanders the success of Jaden Daniels. Terry McLaurin had thirteen
touchdown catches last season. They've already lost a couple of
wide receivers in free agency. They're not trade Terry McLaurin.
They haven't done a whole lot in terms of surrounding
him with talent. They're not gonna deal their number one
wide receiver this late in the game. Neither one of
these guys is going anywhere.
Speaker 4 (20:11):
Okay, So the McLaurin one is simple. They're gonna find
the middle ground and it's gonna be fine. And it's
kind of boring to talk about because you know he
wants more money. I mean, so we all want more money.
I have not put in, by the way trade request
for this show. I think I'm good for now unless
the preseason picks don't come in, and then we're then
we're trading. Crack On, He's out. No, I'm kidding. If
(20:33):
he is a deal. About the Cowboys thing, the Jerry
Jones quote was so telling yesterday, because the Cowboys don't
have to do business this way. Guys, they don't have
to do it this way. They don't have to wait
till their best player is so angry he wants to
leave the franchise. They don't have to do that. They
(20:54):
can sign him early, get the deal done, and move
it along, like the Eagles, like the Chiefs do, like
the Bills do, like all the best teams in the NFL.
Do you draft a guy like Michael Parsons? Since he
has stepped on the field, the Cowboys defense is number
one in EPA When he is on the field, they're
thirty one. When he's off the field. You know, in
(21:15):
about a thousand steps he's missed. He is that important.
Out brunt use is something that I actually disagree with. I
think plenty of teams would trade for him. The Cowboys
just aren't gonna do it. Like if you think I
think you throw, oh, here's two first round picks, sure,
because here's the thing too, Like, if you are a
team who's a contender who could use Michael Parsons, are
you going to draft someone at twenty four or twenty
(21:38):
eight who's Michael parts is the next two years? I
don't know, you know, you're not. Like I think players
would do it. The Cowboys are not giving him up,
and it's just it's really it's first of all, it's
bad business, right, they cost on so much money. The
other part of this from a player perspective, that is
really scumming to me. So Michael Parsons said he went
(21:58):
to talk to Jerry Jones about Leader in March, and
the backstory on that seems to be that, like he
has this podcast, he says a lot of things. I've
talked about it before. I think I'm not a fan
of a young player having a podcast, but I get
it in this whe we're at in social media and
sort of everyone trying to build their own brand. I
think it's best to wait to do a podcast till
(22:18):
you're the Kelsey's. You know, you're just like Max Crosby, right,
you're multiple years in pro all these things. And so
the things he says in the podcast rub people the
wrong way and doesn't come off much as being a leader.
And so he went to jer to talk about Leadership.
During that, Jerry Jones brought up his contract. They talked
about it for a little bit and then apparently Jerry
(22:38):
Jones thought the deal was done and Mike ha said, Okay, now,
talk to my agent, and now he will not talk
to his agent. And the audacity of Jones to think
Parsons was dumb enough to not include his agent in this,
to me is pretty scummy, right, Like he thought parts
would be like yo, oh sure, oh we talked about
it one time, done deal, And Mike's like, no, I'm
(23:00):
talking my agent. It's his job. His job is to
negotiating by conr they won't talk to his agent, and
so the longer they wait, the more expensive it becomes.
Like what do you do? Not pay him and just
have him walked after your franchise attack them two years
in a row and pay thirty million a year to
franchise attack them crack. It's just it's bad business. And
the thing about it too is I think the Cowboys
(23:20):
go over seven and a half. I think it's not
a bad football team. But if Michael Partson is not
gonna play for a couple of weeks or he's gonna
be eight real season, I don't want the Cowboys as much.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
This is the first year that I can remember in
maybe four not betting under Cowboys season wins.
Speaker 4 (23:39):
So seven and a half, right, yeah?
Speaker 2 (23:42):
I think last year did I bet under ten and
a half.
Speaker 4 (23:45):
Probably it's nine. You always pay that Cowboys tax, right,
it's like nine and a half every year, ten and
a half every year.
Speaker 2 (23:50):
Yeah. Yeah. It seems like a lot of these trade
requests are just good negotiating tools to get contract extensions.
I think Parsons saw at Myles Garrett that this offseason
and figured he'd give it a try. You know, if
you all remember Garrett requested a trade after the season
ended and then got like, what did he get? Forty million?
Speaker 4 (24:11):
Expression, I think you think you got about four because
what got forty one a year? Jared got about forty
a year?
Speaker 2 (24:17):
Yeah, yeah, forty milis So these elite pass rushers have
you know, gotten the extensions they wanted lately, and Parson
just wants to join the group. I mean, Garrett got
his four years one hundred and sixty million. I'm looking
at it now. Crosby got three years one hundred and
six million.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
T J.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
Watt got three years one hundred and twenty three million.
So this soap opera kind of stuff. Jerry Jones, he
just lives for this kind of thing. And as he
spent twenty minutes with the media after Friday's practice, answering
questions about Parsons. I don't think Parsons gets traded, and
I think there will be some sort you know, some
sort of negotiation and extension by the end of next week.
(24:54):
Even so, that's.
Speaker 3 (24:56):
Part of That's part of the funny part too, is
Jerry Jones just throwing bs out there, yes where he's like,
he even talked about guaranteeing someone almost two hundred million dollars.
You just rattled off those numbers.
Speaker 2 (25:09):
Crack.
Speaker 3 (25:10):
Why in the world when Jerry Jones guarantee almost two
hundred million dollars, when Micah, when Miles Garrett got a
four year deal for one sixty that's bad business. And
we all know Jerry knows that. Yet he's still throwing
it out there, Like you guys, you don't know the
offer that I've thrown out there, that's the part you
don't know. And he's he's trying to allude to it.
(25:31):
He always thrown out this godfather request, our offer, and Michaeh.
Parsons is the one that's not It's like, come on, dude,
we're not dumb here. And that's the thing. Also, if
you go back to the compensation, maybe I worded it wrong,
but that's why it's not going to get done. There
might be teams that are project to make deep playoff runs.
The Cowboys are not making a trade for Micah Parsons
(25:53):
when they're getting a couple of first rounders back, most
likely in the twenties. Correct doesn't appeal to them.
Speaker 4 (26:00):
Tell you the one The one outlier team I've thought
for Parsons would be the Falcons. They spend a lot
of now, but they don't have a first round pick
next season, so figure out on that. Like like, there's
there's always a team in these discussions that we just
don't know about that's sort of like hanging out that's
waiting to pounce. But the Falcons can't be one of
because they traded one for James Pierce Junior, which at
(26:22):
the time we thought was insane. And so I don't
know who that surprise team is. I really don't. I'm
kind of curious if we end up hearing a team
pop up. The one team that people have said is
the Commanders, but they're and they're not training them to
Washington because so so I'm kind of curious he's going nowhere.
(26:42):
We know that, But again, everyone knows this and they
still have to go through this process. Right, It's just
it's bad process. It makes you know you have ceedee
lamb out here saying like pay the do you want
your best players angry? You're not paying everyone? No, Like
it's it's such unforced errors by Dallas every single time.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
Yeah it is. It's really unnecessary. But they this is
what they do, like well, all their big extensions. It's
this long drawn out, obnoxious process and then they pay
the guy. It's like, well, then, what was all this
anyway about? You're still gonna pay. It's just stupid someone
who's not stupid whatsoever. By the way, we need to
get some you know, some deep thought into this show,
(27:22):
some high level thinking. We go to Isaclo in front
for that every time. I low with the latest what's
going on?
Speaker 10 (27:28):
But a beautiful introduction, as always, Brian, Thank you. Things however,
were not beautiful last night at the Speedway Classic at
Tennessee's Bristol Motor Speedway between the Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Rads.
After all the build up, it was suspended to the
first sitting due to rain, with the Reds leading one nothing.
They hope to resume it today at one pm Eastern. However,
(27:51):
several of the fans at Bristol Motor Speedway last night
not pleased with the proceedings. A sample from a fan
at Lester Tait, who posted, and I quote, the Bristol
game was the MLB version of fire Fest. Awful logistics,
no food except bundless hot dogs and cheeseless nachos, multiple
(28:17):
shuttles to even get in the stadium, and completely unprepared
for rain. Hashtag filed of nightmares, hashtag speedway tragic. Now
they did run out of hot dog buns before the
rescheduled first pitch last night, and this picture of the
guys bunless hot dogs and cheeseless nachos are going viral,
(28:41):
many fans commenting, wait a minute, you knew the hot
dogs were bunless and the nachos were cheeseless, yet you
bought them anyway. So controversy swirling around the bundless hot
dogs and cheeseless nachos at the Speedway Classic. Elsewhere on
Saturday night, three White Sox pitchers come on a one
hitch shutout in a one nothing victory over the Angels
(29:03):
in Anaheim, as the White Sox surpassed last season's win
total on the second of August forty one and one
twenty one last year forty two and sixty nine. This year,
Cardinals one at San Diego a five, breaking the Padre
six game winning streak, and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the
Athletics seven to two to break a six game losing streak. Finally, today, guys,
(29:27):
it's an opportunity to celebrate the one hundredth birthday of
a Pro Football Hall of Fame head coach. This guy
a meeting right here, that's right, Happy one hundredth.
Speaker 6 (29:43):
Birthday today, Marv Levy. Back to you guys.
Speaker 3 (29:47):
Good stuff, Marv Levy. Yeah, it's funny. I'll tell you
guys real quickly. Here in a second. It is Fox
Sports Radio's Countdown, presented by bet MGM. For be sure
to check out the Fox Sports Radio YouTube channel. Just
search Fox Sports Radio on un YouTube and you'll see
a whole bunch of video highlights from our shows. Be
sure to subscribe to you always have instant access to
our Fox Sports Radio videos on YouTube. I always think
(30:09):
of Marv Levy because of the old NFL films footage
they'd show him on the sideline and one of the
times he said this to an official where he's like
you over officious, jerk. I don't know why that sticks
with me, but he just the way they filmed him,
he seemed like kind of like your nice grandfather. You know,
(30:31):
he's fun, you know, he's not that dude had one
of the most foul mouths in NFL history, like F bombs,
MF bombs galore, And the way he was portrayed initially
was not the reality. Whats So he's like Andrew Dice
Clay on the sidelines over that Marv Levy.
Speaker 4 (30:51):
That's what it seems as well. I will say, man,
the NFL Hall of Fame, I think, does it so well? Yes,
it was a Hall of Fame ceremony. It's not on
a game day baseball. You know, it's a pro football
Hall of Fame. So it's not like the Basketball Hall
of Fame. Knock in the basketball Hall of Fame. But
you know, the basketball Fame obviously is more than just
(31:11):
you know, pro you know MBA. It's they don't allow
in a ton of players every year, so it feels
very four players like, it feels very special. And I thought,
you know, the Sterling Sharp speech about his brother, and
I just I thought it was just really well done yesterday.
I always think it's well done. They limited the speech time,
which I think is important, but they you know, the
speeches sometimes were like super long, and they're like, no, nah,
(31:33):
we're not doing that anymore. Five minutes. Just to talk
for five minutes and you're done. I think it's awesome.
I like the Jackets again, it's their own day. They
have their own day to do this, which I think
is the appropriate way to do it. Un like Baseball
again that played a full slate of baseball games on
the day of their Hall of Fame.
Speaker 6 (31:51):
Hey, guys, I got I got the Marv Levy thing
you were talking about. Want to hear it? Yeah, okay,
it also has kind of a twist.
Speaker 3 (31:57):
But listen to college.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
I went to college.
Speaker 9 (32:01):
Huh you all precious jerk?
Speaker 1 (32:07):
Wow, he went to college with them.
Speaker 6 (32:09):
Can you believe that?
Speaker 4 (32:10):
That's great?
Speaker 1 (32:11):
Wow?
Speaker 3 (32:11):
A college guy. Yeah, like college buddies maybe back in
the day, but yeah, no. I love the Pro Football
Hall of Fame induction ceremonies and all that stuff is
really good. It's funny crack how they they pick and choose,
because for a lot of these guys, they're like all
right time limit. But if Brett farv wants to tell
a story about whatever, they're like, just go, just go ahead.
(32:32):
You know, the Oscars music isn't playing him off the
stage after five minutes, you know.
Speaker 4 (32:37):
I think the time limit is new because of the COVID.
Year after COVID, they had like twenty they inducted like
a whole bunch of backlog veterans kimmittye stuff. So I
think the it's relatively new that they gave guys time
limits again. That started when that happened. So I don't
know that because you know, the guys again like you're right,
(32:57):
like thirty minutes speeches are like oh, like all right,
like we we again. You can make arguments their hall
of Fame. They could talk as long as they want.
But I liked it. They kind of make it, you know,
to make them move along a little bit. Now.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
I always think of whenever I hear like hall of
Fame speeches. I don't uh, maybe because of the situation
with the cancer and him dying young. But I always
thick of Aalvano. I always thick of Avalvano saying, ah,
you got this guy's in the background saying I have
a time limit. I have two results throughout my body. Yeah,
I mean, give me a break, guy, And you know,
just that that Italian attitude and uh boy, what a
(33:34):
great it's still I watch it at least once a year.
Valvano's speech uh there on stage where literally I believe
he passed like six weeks later.
Speaker 4 (33:46):
That was his last in public, like that was his last.
Speaker 2 (33:48):
Public thing, and Dicky v was right there with him.
I had Dick Fi talent on my podcast and uh
we talked about that, and and he he thought he
wasn't even getting up state. He thought he wasn't even
kind of make it onto the stage. That's that's how
bad he was. So it was really but I always
think of that great speech. You couldn't even hardly walk
up there and him were giving that speech, and then
(34:11):
the network saying, all right, giving him like the cutoff sign,
that's it, that's enough, and him saying that's not enough. Guy,
I got a couple of weeks to live here, you
know what I mean?
Speaker 4 (34:20):
Like, no, yeah, it was.
Speaker 2 (34:21):
Great, It really was.
Speaker 3 (34:23):
That was one of the best speeches of all time.
But that is like, I know exactly what you're talking about.
Crack where He's like, I got a guy saying thirty seconds, yeah, tumors.
Speaker 2 (34:34):
All at it, but he hads and he had his
hands up like the Italian like, what are you gonna
do with that blue? Right back? Then? Aples fantastic right stuff?
Speaker 1 (34:45):
All right.
Speaker 3 (34:45):
We got Bill Krackenberger, professional sports handicapper. Jeff Schwartz, eight

Speaker 1 (35:48):
Check this out our late letter.
Speaker 3 (35:51):
Yes, it is the platter. We each have one selection,
we pool it together for a greater payout.
Speaker 2 (35:56):
Crack.
Speaker 3 (35:57):
We start with you, what.
Speaker 2 (35:58):
Do you like? Okay? Because it is a parlay and
we do this every week on the show, I will
put the Padres in there at home today Padres versure
of Cardinals. Sorry no, all leads to the Cardinals there.
So my end of the parlay is going to be
the Padres.
Speaker 4 (36:14):
Right, so you wouldn't take a minus one ad on
the row, I'm just talking on the parlay, no, all right,
So I'm taking the Mets here on the money line
minus for sixty five. A couple of reasons. One, the
Giant stink. They've won three games since the All Star break,
and they're my favorite team. They're terrible, They're absolutely terrible,
(36:36):
and they're starting a pitcher never heard of in my life.
Kind of makes sense to fade them today that yesterday
they were awful because they don't have a bullpen. They
trade away their two best bullpen arms, and the other
guys they have are young or just can't throw more
than one or two days in a row, and to
get away day. I think the Mets just win this game.
(36:56):
So Mets moneyline here.
Speaker 3 (36:58):
Okay, I'll go to the WNBA. You tell me what
you think about this. Jeff also YouTube crack. But I know,
Jeff Rudder, It's amazing how much we text about the WNBA.
I'd say a good ninety percent of our text messages are.
Speaker 4 (37:13):
Just complaining about league, complaining about how the league is
just uncontrollably mad.
Speaker 3 (37:19):
Dame, it is it very much is. I'm gonna look
to this Indiana Fever Seattle Storm game. I just think
that it's gonna get off to a slower start. I'm
gonna play under forty two and a half points in
the first quarter. Seattle has been this weird hrky jerky team.
They play pretty good defense and their offense has been
(37:40):
sporadic at best. And I just think Indiana on the
road against the good defense. No, Caitlin Clark, I could
see it getting off to a bit of a rocky start.
So I'll take under forty two and a half in
the first quarter. It's always tricky right to time it
out exactly the way you want it. Sometimes you look
full game, sometimes you look first half. At times, there
(38:02):
is value on a first quarter play and that's what
I like most. So I'll go under forty two and
a half. A little bit of a slow start in
this point.
Speaker 4 (38:12):
No defense.
Speaker 3 (38:13):
Yeah, that's that's the tricky part, right, you gotta have
if you get any sort of pace, it's like, oh gosh,
we're kind of screwed right here. But I just think
Seattle doesn't want to run and gun immediately, and even
if they do try to go up tempo. They've just
been so bad offensively lately. And I mean, you just
(38:34):
saw this the last game. They're at home against the
Dallas Wings. Dallas Wings play no defense, they run and gun,
and there was hardly any points in the first quarter,
first half, and then it went over. It's just crazy
second half. So sometimes these games get off to a
rocky start.
Speaker 4 (38:51):
The opposite of crack. How about this. I got five
and a half points of CLV. I took an over
one seventy and a fever who they played with the
fever wings.
Speaker 3 (39:03):
Brian was fever Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (39:06):
It closed one seventy five and a half.
Speaker 2 (39:09):
Wow. Wow. And for people at home listening, clv's closing
line value. So he got close to going over right and.
Speaker 3 (39:18):
It was completely on track.
Speaker 4 (39:19):
It was ninety ninety points in the first half and
it was ten points short they made. They made two
threes in the last thirty seconds to make it and
it was a ten board game. Didn't matter even close
to going over one seventy. That's why this is a
very frustrating sport. The way you're on the officiating is atrocious.
It is the we talked about many times. Team just won.
(39:41):
I'm looking at the games on Friday. These are the
amount of points teams scored in the fourth quarter. Okay,
eleven seven, twelve. Wow, So three teams scored less than
twelve points in a fourth quarter in a incompetitive basketball
games yesterday to a sist that doesn't count in nine
(40:02):
points yesterday in the fourth quarter. Gay, just like another fact.
Nine points. I feel like some some WWA props we
were will go over during propping up of excitement.
Speaker 2 (40:16):
Very nice.
Speaker 3 (40:16):
I'm excited for that. By the way, our three leg
parlay plus three sixty one not.
Speaker 4 (40:21):
Bad, and then a win is a win if we
can get it, absolutely get it.
Speaker 2 (40:25):
Yeah, that's right.
Speaker 3 (40:27):
It will dive into the props a little bit more
next hour. But while it's you know, on the brain
right now, Alyssa Thomas has been fantastic for the Phoenix,
for the Mercury. Over there, Phoenix, Mercury already in pocket, buddy.
It's a tricky spot today, Jeff.
Speaker 4 (40:42):
And correct, you're going to play the fourth quarter?
Speaker 3 (40:44):
I know it right like against the Chicago sky, the
Mercury could be blowing the doors off of them. And
if you're on this whatever, you're on over eight and
a half rebounds and it's like cool, we're at eight
and she's done for the game, Like you can get
really screwed that.
Speaker 4 (41:00):
Here's what I did. I took over assistant red down
seventeen and a half. And the reason I took it
was I think without injured recental lineup, she'll have twelve
readounts of three quarters and then Mercury did not shoot
well last game. I think they'll shoot much better today.
I think I just I'm hoping in three quarters she
gets about like right there, because I think it's gonna happen.
(41:23):
I think she'll have ten and ten. Yeah, it's the
type of.
Speaker 2 (41:27):
Game she might.
Speaker 3 (41:29):
She's been fantastic this season. Stat stuffer over there, So yeah,
those combined props really really been good this year for
Alica Thomas aka at. I love to throwing out at
over there all right, coming up next NFL preseason slash
training Camp. Any takeaways thus far and a change? Are
(41:50):
you a fan of a big change? Welcome in Happy
Sunday to you. Any major takeaways thus far that in
a couple of seconds, Hey, be sure to check out
the Fox Sports Radio YouTube channel. Just search Fox Sports
Radio on YouTube and you'll see a whole bunch of
video highlights from our shows. And be sure to subscribe
to you always have instant access to our Fox Sports
(42:12):
Radio videos on YouTube. By the way, Fellas Oreo, the
neighborhood cat is hanging out during the show today and
she's out of control. I just sent you a picture.
She's climbing cabinets and doing all sorts of circu de
sole a stuff right now. So she's happy to be
partying with us thus far. Okay, so we got our
(42:35):
first glimpse of the NFL preseason Lions took it on
the chin against the Chargers. Any takeaways from that game
that can be applied to the regular season. There weren't
a whole lot of starters who played. I'll say one
of mine is Omari and Hampton. You got a couple
of carries and the Chargers running back. He's got some juice,
(42:55):
I know. And this is the disclaimer. A lot of
people fall for this every single pre season, so we
got to put the disclaimer out there. It depends who
you're playing against. Right, They weren't starters galore for the
Lions out there, so you take that into account. But
you saw his career at North Carolina. The guy is
an absolute teamaker. They're raving about him, Jeff, I know
(43:17):
you like him in the offensive Rookie of the Year Yeah,
market there, but you can tell me he absolutely has
juice on the NFL level, no doubt about it.
Speaker 4 (43:26):
First of all, tiny bit of baseball news, miserrause. He
got put on the fifteen day ilow for basis scratch.
He's scratched today, which actually opens up the NL Rookie
of the Year market. I don't know who's gonna win it,
but I don't know if he's gonna win it now,
which is funny because in the AL the Oakland A's
kid is like minus eight thousand, which is insane. Also
(43:46):
quickly on the future market, the FISA Collier went down
to minus three hundred for MVP of the WNBA after
a spring your ankle last night. If you have extra
money laying around, she's not out that long. It's a
sprain ankle, right, and she's the best player on the
bed team like it was like it was like eight
hundred yesterday. Just put it out there, surprise. I'm crack party,
(44:07):
will send that out later. It's ad insane to drop
that that that much after one little sprain ankle. Here's
my preseason disclaimer. Guys. Okay, it's very simple, Brian, you
mentioned it. I want to expand on it. Does the
player look like they belong with the talent they have? Okay,
(44:28):
so it's very simple. Right, if you have a first
round pick, second round pick, when you watch them play
against backups, are they better than the backups? Hampton looked
better than the backups.
Speaker 11 (44:39):
Right.
Speaker 4 (44:40):
Everyone's making a big deal of Trey Lance. Trey Lance
was the third pick overall. He should kind of look
good against guys are going to be backing groceries in
a couple of weeks. No offensive bag grocery baggers. But
you get my point, right.
Speaker 3 (44:52):
There was a big like whoa, look at Trey Lance.
Speaker 4 (44:55):
It was it was it was ridiculous, Okay, it was wild.
So does it look like it should? This is why again,
I my takeaway for the Lions is like it was
a really slow It shouldn't. That's not Lions football. Even
though it's backups playing, it's not Lions football. Five turnovers
plus especially, so when you watch these guys play the
(45:17):
next couple of weeks, do it look like it If
it doesn't look like it should. We see these videos
from from Caleb Williams at Bears training camp. You're like, oh,
I look like it should. It's a problem, right, it's
a problem. So that's that's how I look at the
preseas a lot of eye test. I get it crack,
but I look at the preseason results on the field
(45:42):
like that, does it look like it should?
Speaker 2 (45:44):
That's why I asked you, guys, Well, like I said,
I was out at the time, but if the game
was in the background, so I didn't know anything and
That's why I asked you how many guys were playing
too on by the way, both sides of the ball.
Brian just messed someone on the Chargers. Uh was there
uh starters on that side of the ball?
Speaker 4 (46:04):
There was? Okay, Yeah, so like Zion Johnson played, I
believe it's center. Who's their center. Hampton played a little bit.
I think some of their young linebackers played a tiny bit,
I believe. But ye know what, Herbert didn't play. You know,
Slayer did like like like some of like the big
dogs didn't really play. But enough guys, you know, there
were some starters out there for Harbaugh, like very very minimum.
(46:27):
I mean again, Hampton's a rookie, like Najia Harris might
be the starter. Hampton's a rookie. That's why he should play. Again,
I think it's crazy to be that rookies don't play
in the precison games. That's I just I get it.
You want to cut people's reps. Fine starters reps, but rookies,
I mean, come on, guys. So that's yeah, so very
few select starters did play crack And I.
Speaker 2 (46:49):
Said, I think I sent you guys, nothing nothing crazy
but a small play on Uh, Chargers, like a week
ago when the line where or maybe yeah, yeah, okay,
so it was Tuesday. It's pet MGM. By the way
I'm reading my text, bet MGM had the only one
and a half on the Chargers. I think I told
our guy bet MGM on air last week that you
(47:10):
guys had the only one and a half. However, game
time there was TUESDA, so it went the other way.
It wasn't anything crazy from me. I even said, not
an official go go go play, but I hate when
the lines go against me. And but that was clearly,
(47:30):
you know, easily the right side. Even the second half
when we had the Lions for a little bit, it
was based on some players. It wasn't right. I mean,
the Chargers were clearly the right play. Detroit obviously had
no interest in this game whatsoever. You guys can both
tell me if I'm correct on that.
Speaker 4 (47:52):
Well yeah, no, Well I think they played hard. They
just didn't play well. Right, You can play harder not
play well. That's what happened. They just didn't play well.
They play plenty hard. Your second half play made sense
because Hayden Hooker was playing and like he's in theory,
the better quarterback of the bunch, but you can't help
when they muff a punt, like you know, that's not
in the handy.
Speaker 2 (48:12):
Right the first series, right right right, And I was like,
that's we're losing. That's yeah.
Speaker 4 (48:20):
I'm just like, all right, well, oh for one small play,
it's okay, that's what happens.
Speaker 3 (48:26):
Just a couple of two quick comments for me, like
preseason stuff. It's interesting to me where you have to
take into account who's on the field, right, Are you
playing against ones? Are you playing against backups? That matters.
But I think that some things will translate to the
regular season. Some things won't. For example, if you're a
quarterback playing against backups and you're throwing to just wide
(48:49):
open receivers, that's not going to translate to the regular season, right,
That's something you have to take into account. If it's
Amari and Hampton and you only got two carries and
it's mostly against back but the carry where he scored
it through for about ten yards roughly, like, that's something
that will translate to the regular season. Like that wasn't
all these are backups and they're not where they're supposed
(49:12):
to be. That was just Amari and Hampton running with
some juice, finding some daylight, like that's going to translate
to the regular season. So I don't think it's as
easy as like all the backups are in there, nothing matters.
It's like not necessarily, some of that stuff still will
translate to the regular season.
Speaker 4 (49:26):
It's a good point. Again, it was a pretty it
was a good run like it looked like it should
which again to my point, it keeps saying like that's
what it should look like at times, and that's what
I take away from these games.
Speaker 3 (49:40):
I will say too, Jeff, that like you could speak
to this better than anyone on this show. But it's
funny to me how a lot of teams, especially with rookies,
with what you're saying, how they're like, nope, nope, no
preseason reps. But they don't treat joint practices like that. Right,
you're in a joint practice with another team, you get
reps to your rookies all day long. I don't I
don't know why they treat preseason games like it's completely
(50:02):
foreign to joint practices. It's weird to me.
Speaker 4 (50:05):
Well, I think I think they just assume the injury factor.
But but I will say, like injuries was there one
guy injured boken. I don't think one guy that game
was injured on on I mean I don't. I don't
remember one guy getting card off. I mean there's of
course there's you know, guy can have a shoulder injury
to play through. But there wasn't like a ton of
injuries in this game.
Speaker 3 (50:23):
Yeah, And coaches are.
Speaker 4 (50:24):
Just terrifying of injuries that don't happen in preseason games.
They really don't. And you know, I go back to
the idea that like you know, Andy Reid plays the
starters in the preseason, like he will play the I
don't not typically Game two is when it happens, but
like they'll the Chiefs. I bet the Chiefs most often
in game two of the preseason because they played their starters.
Even though I have a strong theory on this, and
(50:45):
I'm right based only numbers, defensive coaches are the ones
back in the preseason. McDermott, Pete, Carroll, and Harribum is
not an offensive coach. Go look at the at against
spread records for all these offensive guys atrocious because they
don't care about the end result. They have an I
set idea of how they want to enter the game.
Defensive coaches, man, they're like, fight till the death tack.
(51:10):
The offensive guys are like whatever, man, like, we have
a plan, let's just do our plan.
Speaker 3 (51:14):
Let's just not get injured.
Speaker 4 (51:15):
Correct. It's a very different philosophy in the preseasons.
Speaker 2 (51:18):
So, Jeff, we're not going to be on till next Sunday.
What your Saturday? They're playing the Kansas City Arizona, Kansas City.
Speaker 4 (51:25):
I don't know. I don't know if the Stars are
playing yet.
Speaker 2 (51:26):
All right, that's my question I wanted to win. Your
opinion was.
Speaker 4 (51:30):
I don't think the game two they treat like a
regular season game as far as game planning. That's why
that typically is. But the thing that's tough about that
is if they have basically two drives that are good,
they'll pull Mahomes. And to be fair, if they have
one like nine play drive and the ones offense scores
in a touchdown, they might pull Mahomes two. Now, now,
(51:51):
what the Chiefs do as well, by the way, is
they leave the starting offense in with the backup quarterback
for a couple of drives. It's very unique because they
want the backup quarterback. Gardner Minshaw I believe in this case,
to have a couple of drives with the starters, to
feel comfortable with those guys in case anything happens. So
Chiefs first half is typically how I play those games
for that reason, and the Chiefs offense sputters. He'll keep
(52:15):
Mahomes in there. Tell you if I get a good
drive goal, he will play the starters in the preseason.
Speaker 3 (52:19):
By the way, Crack, I have to say, I think
you're synonymous with a couple of athletes where I always
think of you with Paulo Bankiro because you want a
bunch of money betting him to be the first overall pick.
I always think of you with Gardner Minshew also because
because last year, how many times it's one eighty and
a half? Is his passing yard under under hammer? The
(52:42):
under I think with Minshew media all the time.
Speaker 2 (52:46):
He didn't beat us many times we had, he really did.
That was very successful.
Speaker 4 (52:50):
We talk about a lot. I I love those unders
of quarterbacks like one seventy and a half, give me
the under man. There's the reason why it's one seventy
and a.
Speaker 3 (52:57):
Half a lot of times and cash is by the way, wait,
can we pour one out for the chain gang? We
got our first taste of the new virtual measurement system
in that Hall of Fame game. Yeah, do you like it?
You like the new virtual measuring system?
Speaker 4 (53:12):
It's fine. The chicking is still there, but.
Speaker 3 (53:15):
They're just not used. They're just hanging out doing nothing.
Speaker 4 (53:18):
By the way, gets used like twenty times a season.
It doesn't get used a lot. We think it does.
What the NFL has done in recent years is they
move the ball to the nearest yard line. So let's
say it's the first down to twenty five yard line
you're going in, so twenty four, twenty three two, it's
a first down to twenty five and you fall forward
and you're the twenty four and a half. They just
(53:40):
put the ball in the twenty four. Huh Like yeah,
they even got over the game.
Speaker 2 (53:47):
I don't know, so interesting. Okay, yeah, so it does
even out though in the end, yeah, I.
Speaker 4 (53:52):
Mean half a yard. But like if it balls on
like the if it's just over the twenty five, they're
not moving in a full yard crack forward, right, But
if it's like they're just to put it on the
this way, you don't get as many reviews or change
come out, right, And the question I have too about
the system is that it's not actually checking if the
runner was called correctly down at the right point. Right,
(54:13):
It's just checking based on where the referee spot the ball.
Speaker 3 (54:17):
Correct Yeah right, it's just yeah, is it a first
down or not? You know it just show the graphic
upside right.
Speaker 4 (54:24):
But but but it's not it's not making sure the spot
is correct. It's just making sure that it's not I'm
trying to. It's not making sure the referees mark it correctly, right,
It's just measuring where they marked it at if it's
the first down or nock right, two things.
Speaker 3 (54:38):
The virtual measurement, right, it's not for the virtual measurement,
but they spotted correctly, yeah, right?
Speaker 2 (54:47):
And why do I have to be so crazy and
sick sick human?
Speaker 4 (54:50):
I am?
Speaker 2 (54:51):
I didn't know. I didn't know you were talking about
first But when you Brian comes right on and says
about the chain Gang, my mind resorts to mafia movies,
prison movies. I'm like, what's he talking about? Chain gang? No,
it's it's crazy. I'm so I'm poisoned by these movies.
I'm like, Wow, we're going on top.
Speaker 4 (55:07):
Like another another future. As we were talking, I will
say well, every every win I have the last week
anything just straight to futures. So like if the Mercury
win by a lot of points, just right right to
NFL feed, I think I'm done. I think I've reached
like my limit of futures. I have a lot more
(55:28):
in college football than I do in the NFL. But
I'm I think I have one more week one. I
wrote that, one more week one bet I want to
make for college football before the number of moves I think,
and I think two more futures I want to make.
So I'm close to the end of my list.
Speaker 3 (55:44):
By the way, talking about future wagers, now you got
my mind working. How many chain gang measurements there were
in the NFL last season? Yeah, I mean you could
you spin it forward to how many virtual measurements will
there be over the course of an entire NFL season?
Speaker 4 (56:00):
What do you have?
Speaker 3 (56:01):
I don't know, Like I thought there'd be way more.
Do you think there have been twenty measurements?
Speaker 4 (56:06):
It's not, it's not. It's not. I'm a little bit,
a little bit under selling it, but there's actually not
a lot of measurements in a year. I was talking
to Sam Schwartzey about this works for Amazon Prime now
former OFFENSI alignment. He does a lot of the stats
and there, and he was telling me it's not it's
not as big of a deal as we think it is.
Uh and uh, how often do NFL games have measurements?
(56:29):
I guess it's like, right, yeah, so you know the
thing is I'm looking for, Like what is that? Like
the these articles that announce the new technology must have
a number in there? Right? Like how often this happens?
Speaker 3 (56:43):
Something?
Speaker 4 (56:44):
But it doesn't happen very much. It really doesn't. It's
it's not a thing that I think about it. How
often have you? Really doesn't it doesn't really happen.
Speaker 3 (56:53):
I think that's the interesting twist to me. I think
the virtual measurements might lead to even more conspiracy theories
because this is all the technology has been doctored with,
is you know, all the stupid stuff you hear this
is goodell pick up the red phone and say it's
not a first you know that sort of thing. I
don't know this is going to eliminate any controversy whatsoever.
(57:15):
I think it might add to it even more.
Speaker 4 (57:17):
Well, that's again, this is it's not changing if the
ball is spotted correctly, right, right, spot, yeah, right, So
I'm looking at I'm trying to read some articles now
like too, yeah, it's not it's not a ton, but
they're still going to keep the chain gang there for
(57:37):
backup in case of something something happens. But also to
like there's one thing too that it's actually not talked
about it this is article and reading these chain gang
guys get get pretty beat up. Guys were into them.
They can't move out of the way, they break their legs,
they break a hip. Wow, it's actually a real thing.
Speaker 3 (57:57):
By the way, if there's a chain gang measurement, you know,
something happens with the version, the whole crowd is gonna
go ballistic. You realize this, right, Like they come out
on the field again. It's like, I pray that happens
this year. I really do hope that happens. All right,

Speaker 11 (59:25):
Ah.
Speaker 3 (59:25):
Yes, we welcome in our good friend, Christian Sippolini, Bet
MGM trading manager joining us here on countdown. Good morning
to you, Christian. There was a shout out to Peter.
He tweeted in this morning a question I thought I'd
throw it your way and he said, why do books
offer WNBA player awards only sporadically? And I think if
(59:46):
you expand that to you could say why do like BETMGM,
or you can speak to BETMGM, But just sort of
like the market with the WNBA, some stuff is offered sporadically.
Maybe it's a season win total and it's there for
a minute, then it's gone. You know, it's an award,
maybe it's a player prop like it's here there, but
(01:00:07):
it's not constant. Is there a reason why it is
so sporadic like that?
Speaker 12 (01:00:13):
Yeah, that's a That's a good question too, because sometimes
depending on the sport or whatever is going on, there
can be different answers. But typically with the w n
B A, you know, if it does come into awards,
awards for the sportsbook are the one of our worst
performing markets typically, you know, not just Thatt MGM, other
ones too, typically are going to perform, you know a
(01:00:34):
lot of times losing markets, sometimes just barely breaking even
typically they're not huge winning markets. So for us, if
we're not so sure about exactly which way things might go,
if we're going to protect ourselves, we'll just take it down.
And for the w NBA, a lot of times there
isn't the same amount of information that we may be
able to get out of something like NFL or NBA
(01:00:56):
to really try to figure out which way the voters
are going a lot of time from the NBNBA we
might not have that amount of information, So something like
six Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, sometimes
those are markets that might be a little bit more
difficult for us to kind of figure out what's going
to happen. So sometimes if we're just unsure, we'll just
protect ourselves and take it down.
Speaker 4 (01:01:17):
Speaking about awards markets, I feel like some of the
injuries in baseball are kind of fundamentally changing these markets.
We talked a little bit about NL MVP, but I
bet NL Rookie of the Year, Miss Rouse, he gets
scratched today, he goes on, IL, what does that market
look like now? I feel like they're sort of you
just throw a dart and a bunch of these rookies,
who do you guys? Need to win. Who do you
(01:01:39):
hope and loses? What are your thoughts on the NL
Rookie of the Year markets?
Speaker 12 (01:01:44):
Yeah, it's funny you brought that up just before I
got on this call, you know, a few minutes before
we ended up just pulling that NL Rookie of the
Year market down. And Rookie the Year, especially in baseball,
sometimes can be a little bit of a difficult market
for us to price right now, Zerowski involved win are
the two favorites losing mollcoms for both of us here.
(01:02:06):
Sometimes a baseball because the player gets called up in
the middle of the season, you know, it can be
tough to figure out is this player can eventually play?
What's gonna happen? So that could be tough on the
other side, you know, AL Brookie of the Year Nick
Kurtz seems to be running away with this, especially after
his performance from last week. Also a losing outcome for us,
and actually the top four in the AL is a
(01:02:28):
losing outcome for the book. So, as I said, those
awards a lot of times are tricky.
Speaker 2 (01:02:35):
Hey, hey, Christian, sorry about that. I wanted to know
about this first preseason game. What did you guys have
I'm guessing you had a lot more volume than maybe
you even thought because maybe it was a Detroit game,
or also thinking that you guys did well in that game.
Speaker 12 (01:02:55):
Yeah, I was trying to go back to look at
other Hall of Fame games because typically it is our
least bet preseason game game. This one was a lot
a bit more than ones in previous games, and I
do think a lot of that was situational. There was
only three three or four baseball games on that day
and one w NBA game on so it was a
really really small slate, so we assumed in that case.
(01:03:15):
You know, I was pretty well aware that this preseason
game was going to be our most bet on game
of the day, and it definitely was not a great
outcome for the book that as a very high scoring game.
I think the Chargers went over by themselves in that one.
So in general, preseason obviously is going to take a
lot less action than normal. But as we start kind
(01:03:38):
of ramping up, you know, football is king and it
is it is going to take a good amount of action.
Speaker 3 (01:03:43):
I'm curious about NFL season win totals, Christian, where if
you look team by team, if you get a bunch
of money on one side or the other. You could
just move the line a bit. So are you ever
at great exposure for a particular team like man we
really need them to go under U because I would
(01:04:04):
imagine there are a time or two where you just
can't print any tickets on one side or the other.
Does that ever happen or is it happening right now
going into the season.
Speaker 12 (01:04:14):
That definitely happens. There is a lot of times that
certain season wins will just only take money on one side.
You know, the Saints is a pretty good example this year.
You know, we're struggling to get people that want to
take that over bet is most people project them to
be a bad team. A lot of that. Sometimes I'll
just think of some of these futures as more of
a season long thing than Okay, well we're not going
(01:04:37):
to write many faiths under or faith over tickets, but
if they win a couple of games throughout the season,
you know, maybe that's how we kind of get a
little bit back through there. So the other thing too,
that's what we do now with the season wins is
we we list basically every single number. So you know,
in the past you used to just be able to
kind of tweak the one number. But if you're gonna
speak one number now, you're gonna have to sweak them all.
(01:04:58):
So sometimes with these we kind of let it rude.
Speaker 4 (01:05:02):
I'm curious about the college football market when it comes
to Champion because I follow college football obviously just close.
I do the NFL. I've made no wagers on Champion.
I just not doing Penn State arch Man. I don't know.
I think there's a lot of unnes Where are you
seeing a lot of money come down for just overall
champion right now? For college football?
Speaker 12 (01:05:23):
And so the most bet team that we have is Texas,
and I assume that that's going to continue for most
of the season barring you know, they drop a couple
of games early. You know, with arch manning there and
that that name recognition, that's gonna that's gonna take a
lot of bets, especially throughout the season. And then but
being the favorite also that's going to be there too.
So there're our most bet team by it looks like
(01:05:44):
about double the next team that's been bet the most,
which is Ohio State, and then Penn State's kind of
right up there too. So those three teams are the
top ones and really not great outcomes for us if
either of those win. And then I'll say one that's
a little bit on the outside looking in. That's taken
a lot of bets. Our biggest liability is Florida this year.
Speaker 2 (01:06:02):
That's funny.
Speaker 4 (01:06:02):
They might don't have to worry about Florida. Don't worry sportsbooks.
Speaker 2 (01:06:08):
That was that was my question for the NFL. I
was wondering, who do you have any now here? We
are a month away from this Dallas Philadelphia opening regular
season game Thursday, September fourth, so I know within the
next month people get more excited and we'll bet these futures.
But as of right now, any exposure on any NFL
(01:06:28):
one or two teams that you wouldn't want to see
have a really good season.
Speaker 12 (01:06:34):
Yeah, we're getting so close now we got preseason games.
Comed in football is getting closer and closer. So as
you said, you'se bet to start.
Speaker 2 (01:06:41):
Boring and more.
Speaker 12 (01:06:42):
But right now we're one of our most pedal teams,
the top three most metal teams, and our highest liability
as the Lions. You did kind of mention that we
have a decent presence in Michigan and over the past
couple of years. Those Lions fans have made sure to
put some bests on their team. They don't want to
miss they do when they first championship, So that's a
(01:07:02):
losing outcome for us. The Bills are another one that
would be no good. And the Eagles have been our
most bet on team since since we listened to the
market right after the Super Bowl, so I expect that
to continue as well. For longer shot teams, the Broncos,
we have some liability on the vikings and then every
year we end up with some Steven's liability. It's happening
(01:07:23):
again this year.
Speaker 2 (01:07:24):
Yeah, that's the big talk about out here amongst I'm
gonna say, amongst the previews, Pros and Joe's. Amongst the pros,
Pros like Buffalo this year and the Joe's definitely like
Denver this year. So that that's the two teams here
in Vegas at tracks.
Speaker 12 (01:07:40):
I can see that for my numbers.
Speaker 3 (01:07:42):
Yep, very nice, all right, Christian, always tear it up, man,
appreciate your time. Hope you have a great day. We'll
catch you soon.
Speaker 12 (01:07:50):
Yeah, I have to know everybody.
Speaker 3 (01:07:51):
Yeah you too. There is Christian Cippolini bet MGM Trading manager,
great stuff. And uh, you know we go on most
bet on teams to the most to bet on update
anchor do you realize this? The money is just pouring
in on Isaac lowenkron puplicates spoken. Yeah, not a surprise.
I low with the latest.
Speaker 10 (01:08:09):
Yeah, I'm a heavy favorite. Not to mispronounce any names,
Kettle Marty of the Arizona Dimes. Sorry, sorry, Vegas, I
like that. Major League Baseball had to do a little
bit of apologizing last night because the Speedway Classic on
Saturday evening at Tennessee's Bristol Motor Speedway between the Atlanta

Braves and Cincinnati Reds was suspended in the first inning
due to rain, with the Reds leading one nothing buttonless
hot Dogs get your buttonless hot dogs here anyway. They
hope to resume it today at one pm Eastern. And
they actually opened the doors at Bristol Motor Speedway just
a short time ago.
Speaker 6 (01:08:51):
And guys, I'm not making this up.
Speaker 10 (01:08:53):
As we speak, someone who goes by the handle at

Hopefully we'll get this in today.
Speaker 6 (01:09:16):
We'll see so there you go.
Speaker 10 (01:09:18):
That a live stream as we speak, and the skies
look only partly cloudy, so not threatening at all at
this point, and hopefully that will boost at Sir Boy
Wonder five thirteen's view count, which is currently at twenty
four for his live stream.

Speaker 10 (01:09:37):
On Saturday night, three White Sox pitchers combined on a
one hitch shutout in a one nothing victory over the
Angels in Anaheim, as the White Sox surpassed last season's
win total forty one last year against one hundred and
twenty one losses forty two wins this year. The Saint
Louis Cardinals won at San Diego eight to five to
break the Padres six game winning streak and the Arizona

Diamondbacks six game losing streak.

signed a contract extension with the Lakers. And that's the
That's what we got going on in the sports world.
Mainly it's you know, trade requests or it's contract extensions,
a lot of contract stuff right now. But Luca he
signs a three year, one hundred and sixty five million
dollar deal. It's got a player option in twenty twenty eight.
(01:10:49):
And the news with Luca he's slimmed down a lot.
In the offseason cover of Men's Health magazine and he
had a press conference yesterday after the contract extension. He
looks good, he's in shape right now. The question is
do you believe that he's actually turned the corner this
offseason and going forward with his conditioning and diet. Are
you completely buying in to the s felt Luka Doncic.
Speaker 4 (01:11:13):
Over here, Yes, I I thought this was the dumbest
thing about the trade, that he was out of shape
and wouldn't get in shape. Essentially, this is what La
does better than anything else. How many people go to
Los Angeles as celebrities and six months later, a year later,
it looked a little different. It's the city where changes
happened to your bud. Now, some of that it's cosmetic, okay,
(01:11:35):
But the idea that a Laker superstar wouldn't be committed
to being good. Look at the history of the Lakers.
They've always had these guys. Yeah, Shack got a little
heavy after three championships. They're like, you know, like it
blew my mind, Brian, that this was a thing that
people thought was going to hold back Luca. It was
(01:11:59):
never going to be the case. Luca was always gonna
get in shape in my opinion, which he did, and
I think they're points for a big year.
Speaker 11 (01:12:09):
Now.
Speaker 4 (01:12:09):
Look they're still I don't know if DeAndre aiden you
want to trust him for like the reason why you're
good or not in a given season. But the fact
is he was always going to get in shape. This
was really a dumb storyline for the reason why the
Mavericks want to get rid of him.
Speaker 2 (01:12:25):
Yeah, I was not surprised at all by this extension
this is what the Lakers wanted to do by trading
trading for him Lebron in his last year. Even if
it's not official, we all know this is it for him.
So the Lakers are all in on Luca, making him
the poster boy for LA these next few years. I
think Luca will be much better shape and that much
(01:12:46):
more motivation moving forward. But this next year he will
you know, still be sharing a spotlight with Lebron as
the Lakers have put together a lineup that they think,
can you know, win it all come in this season,
so I'm not really surprised by Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:13:00):
We'll see. And this is another thing too, No one's
ever turned down being the superstar of the Lakers, just
you just don't do it. Like the idea that he
might not sign with the Lakers.
Speaker 3 (01:13:11):
Right right, that was crazy, Come on, you.
Speaker 4 (01:13:14):
Don't turn that down. So interesting here for Lakers, right
it's crackspoint like they're trying to win it, but they're
also trying to set themselves up to make this Lucas
team in the future. And I'm curious how they sort
of weave that road this season.
Speaker 3 (01:13:26):
Yeah, trying to do both. Some of it is they
can this pretty much all they can do. You know,
there's not some you know, huge exception that they have
access to where they can make a big splash or
like this. Pretty much where they're they're going, they're going
to make any huge splashes right now. I know that
you think about the trade deadline and maybe you do
(01:13:47):
something like that, but I think the Lakers are relatively
as is for the time being. Probably yeah, yeah, so right,
they're trying to win right now, but they're really looking
toward the future, which is not great for Lebron timetable.
But I'm a little bit different than you guys, right,
I gotta see more from Luca. He's got provided all
the motivation in the world to get in shape. This
(01:14:10):
was this like his brand, you know what I mean.
Like one of the main reasons that Dallas didn't re
up with him is because he was out of shape
and not dedicated, and so he's got extra motivation to
prove those people wrong. And I'm sure that went into
why he's looking a lot better right now this offseason.
But i mean, listen, it's been years where Luca has
(01:14:30):
not been committed to being in peak shape. So one
off season and I'm just buying in this is the
way it is for the next five years. I'm not there.
I gotta see more consistency from him to truly buy
in like this is his whole mindset and approach, Like
he just hasn't had that approach yet. I hope he
does going forward, because he's a special player and if
he commits himself that way, he can be even better.
Speaker 4 (01:14:53):
I think the reason why I trust this to be
what it is is because I imagine Lakers have put
people in places to me make sure that he continues
with a diet and one thing about losing weight. And
I've you know, I've had problems of to you know,
too heavy, I've lost some weight. It's like you feel
really good and it sort of motivates you to continue
to do it right, Like he's gonna his body will
probably feel great this season if he stays healthy, and
(01:15:15):
I imagine that that feeling of like, oh oh wait,
it feels a little nicer on my knees, yeah, but
my joints like that feeling will want will make him
do this and want to continue with this path of
of weight loss or at least be you know, as
healthy as possible.
Speaker 3 (01:15:33):
It's a great point. And I'll say that's part of
the reason Zion has never gotten quite on track is
because he has gotten banged up consistently right where there
are times where you're like, wow, Zion Williamson, he looks
like he's in better shape right now, and then he'll
get banged up and then it sort of resets the
bad clock all over again. But I hear you on Luca,
(01:15:54):
if he can trust a healthy yeah, if he can
be healthy, then yeah, this might be the new the
new brand of Luka Doncic going forward. Interesting stuff, all right,
We've got Bill Krackenberger, professional sports handicapper, Jeff Schwartz, eight
year NFL veteran. I'm Brian Nell coming up next. Prop
it up. That is right early Christmas presence for you.
(01:16:15):
Crack the prop betting market. You hone in on that,
you love it. It's like your figurative pillow you squeeze
at night. We'll get to the prop bets right around
the corner. It is Fox Sports Radios Countdown presented by BETMGM.
It is Fox Sports Radios Countdown presented by bet MGM.
You can stream the show and all of our Fox

(01:16:58):
All right, let's do this.
Speaker 1 (01:17:01):
Prop it up pot player plays.
Speaker 3 (01:17:05):
Yes, the prop betting market. You love this, you live
for it.
Speaker 2 (01:17:09):
Crack.
Speaker 4 (01:17:09):
I know you.
Speaker 3 (01:17:10):
You woke up today and you're like, ah, prop bets.
Speaker 2 (01:17:12):
Go roll, Let's go.
Speaker 3 (01:17:13):
What do you have for us to start us off?
Speaker 2 (01:17:16):
Let's start a software. Just want to make sure it
seem to sit in the right line here. Okay, Carson
wasn't on San fran Giants over fourteen and a half
pitching ouch. One of the best prospects of the pitchers
this year, pitch five innings in his first career start
last week. He's up against the Mets today, who're really
even struggling with the plate recently. He's a round ball
(01:17:38):
pitcher and I think you should be able to go
five plus innings today, which is key for this type
of a prop over fourteen and a half ouch.
Speaker 4 (01:17:47):
Well, I mean I bet against the Giants, but I
hope they play well. So that's one of those things
were I guess that brokeline world against my team. It's
not great. I got two I like you. One is
go Sky under seventy five and a half points against
the Mercury today for a couple of weeks. One is
the Sky Stink. Two is without Angel Reeves. They've scored
(01:18:11):
forty nine sixty eight fifty seven seventy eight against the Fever,
and the Fever played no defense in sixty six against
the Valkyries the other day. The Mercury are better on
defense than the Fever. They rebound well, they don't allow
points in to paint either, so you're relying on Keia
Nurse and Bans them to make a bunch of threes. Alan,
I've sucked out on that. The other one here, the
(01:18:35):
Liberty have been scuffling that. They have not been good, Brian,
you know this. They lost the Sun last game, which
is like my sixteen or eighteen like that. I have
Sabrina I and Nescu. You over thirty three and a
half point three bounds and is today. I just think
she's gonna have to have a game, like a twenty
five ten and ten game for them, like they've been
(01:18:57):
playing so bad, they lost three in a row. I
think it will blow out of bunch they playing the
Sun again today. I think Sabrina has a big game today.
I think she has to for the team to get
back on track.
Speaker 3 (01:19:08):
I could see it. You know, it's funny. I'll tell
you a real quick story. I was at one of
the local casinos in Vegas and they posted Jeff that
latest game right where the Liberty lost to the Suns
to the Sun, Sorry no s at the end, Yeah
the Sun, but yeah, it was the wrong line was posted,
(01:19:28):
Oh the Liberty. They were favored by about ten and
a half ish or whatever. And I was at one
of these casinos watching the Hall of Fame game and
I just glanced up at the bets on the board
and it only had the Liberty favored by one. And
I'm like, what, Like, it was just a mistake, a
clear mistake. The money line was, you know, their minus
(01:19:49):
six hundred or something crazy whatever, So the point spread
was just dead wrong and I was gonna go to
the I'm like, what are the chances that if I
try to just get that point spread that they would
give it to me. And I'm like, they'd probably catch it.
So I never went to the window and tried to
bet it, but it would have been dead wrong. They
got blown out basically the last game, So good thing
(01:20:11):
I didn't try to get a bad line. It wouldn't
have worked anyway. As far as my prop bet, I'm
looking at the Yankees here, John Carlos Stanton. All I
has to do is get a hit, one hit. He's
hit safely in twelve of the last thirteen games on
the road against his former team, comfortable in Miami, obviously
(01:20:32):
facing Edward Brera. I think he's good for a hit.
The juice isn't crazy. Minus a dollar forty five to
get us one hit, I think it's good value. I'll
go with Stanton And a couple of fun facts. I
was just looking at his bet Baseball reference page. Apparently
one of his nicknames is Bigfoot. Didn't know that, John
(01:20:53):
Carlos Stanton. And how about in the Fox Sports Radio
stopping grounds he went to high school in Sherman Oaks, California.
Speaker 4 (01:21:00):
Either, yeah, Germans kid, Yeah, there's a couple of first pitches.
Soon Boston plays in like thirty minutes. Dodgers and Rays
played about an hour. How about that Tampa Bay outside
in a minor league stadium at high noon. Good luck
for those guys playing that game. That's gonna be a
sweltering heap fest.
Speaker 3 (01:21:19):
Yeah, no doubt. By the way, you could get some
some betting in during the show. You like the astros
of the Red Sox. We got Valdez against Giolito.
Speaker 4 (01:21:29):
Probably the first three under if I'm looking for anything
of that game, is what I would talk.
Speaker 2 (01:21:33):
The old first three under.
Speaker 3 (01:21:35):
Like, that's good, I leg it? All right? Coming up next,
the deadline is coming gone. What are the big takeaways?
What are the teams that are poised to make a run.
We'll get to that. Oh, what is going on? We
got deadline deals to discuss. That comes your way in
(01:21:57):
just a couple of seconds. Hey, use code countdown at
betmgs and receive up to fifteen hundred dollars back in
bonus bets if you don't win your first bet. When
you're registered with bet MGM, you'll get instant access to
a variety of parlay selection features, live betting options. Signature
bets and the best daily promotions in the business. Again,
use code countdown and you'll get up to fifteen hundred
dollars back in bonus bets if you don't win your
(01:22:19):
first bet Okay, So deadline deals they came and went
in MLB. Anybody right now of the contenders, right if
you're looking at the contenders, anybody that you think, based
on the deals they made, puts themselves in a much
better position than they were in before the deadline. You
got anybody on your list, Jeff.
Speaker 4 (01:22:40):
So, the three of us plus Russ went to dinner
in Las Vegas. So we're sitting at dinner, lovely dinner.
I don't even talked about last lovely dinner. Thank you
guys for taking me out there my first time in Lugers.
It was great. I just sat there, everyone ordered. It
was fantastic. We're in the middle of dinner and Crack goes. Hey, guys, listen,
(01:23:03):
Mariners are thirty to one to win the World Series.
Get on it now. And it was right. I think
they had just made the Nailor trade and I looked
at my apps and it was like, I can only
get like twenty four, twenty to twenty something like that,
and I was like, I'm gonna, I'm gonna pass on it.
The Marinors are not doing anything. I'm gonna I'm not
gonna wager on this. And then they get Suarez and
(01:23:25):
they go like twelve to one to win the World Series.
So Crack has a great number. It's not surprising great
number there. Look the Mariners, I'll tell you what the
things I think you need the postseason, starting pitching, bullpen,
guys that get hit home runs in the clutch. They
got it. They got all of them. They have to
get in the postseason first, right, their first fierce battle
(01:23:46):
with the Rangers. I like what the Phillies did. The
Dodgers oddly sort of sat by and didn't do very much.
But I think the Mariners, right, Brian, did the most
of any contender, I think to make themselves prime for
I guess the Padres. They trade away their entire farm system.
Both Padres and Mariners I think did the most here.
Speaker 2 (01:24:07):
M Yeah, No, I think you're right. I like what
the Padres did for sure.
Speaker 9 (01:24:13):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:24:13):
They got the pitching help they needed from the A's
with Sears and Miller. They also got d H. Ryan
Ryan O'Hearn from the Orioles. I think the Dodgers recent
struggles also motivated the Padres to make these moves too.
Of this season as la, you know, they don't look
unbeatable anymore. So, you know, I just remember early when
(01:24:36):
we were doing our shows before the season started, even
the first week, we were talking about the one oh
four and a half, which was their season wins. It
went from one O two and a half to one
O four and a half, and it was just like,
come on, man, but you still thought the Dodgers were
this miracle team and people were still going over even
(01:24:56):
though I mean I didn't play either way. I'm just
saying it. Just now you look back at it, it's
so easy to second guess yourself as a ah man.
We all talked about that crazy season win number. But anyway,
going back to these on the trade deadline. Yeah, like
I said, I like what the Padres did, and probably
some of it's motivated by the Dodgers.
Speaker 3 (01:25:16):
Oh yeah, absolutely. I think it's always interesting where I
think I was watching the Padres game. Oh I know,
I was watching it yesterday against my Cardinals, and that
might have been where they mentioned it. I'm not sure, No,
it definitely wasn't that. It might have been Sports Center.
I don't know who it was, but because they talked
about the Padres being the little brother to the Dodgers,
(01:25:37):
they certainly wouldn't have talked about that on the Padres podcast.
So it's somewhere else. Yeah, but it's true and they
are have been. But they're making moves like literally trying
to dethrone them, and they've got some decent firepower. Yeah,
they've got some legit firepower to possibly do it.
Speaker 4 (01:25:57):
I'll just say this, I despise a dog. This is
no way endorsement of the Dodgers in general, but there
is something to the idea of them just coasting the
regular season knowing they have a World Series and know
and know what it takes to win the conf advantage
to me is nothing in baseball. It just matters be
who your pictures as your advantage for the game. The
(01:26:20):
Dodgers have been hurt at pitcher. They've they've been hurt
at you know, Bets came back but hasn't really been
the same. They're actually taking him off of today. They're
putting Attawny back at leadoff spot for their game today.
Months he's been out like they have injuries, and they
can get to the postseason. I do worry about their
bullpen though, that that does wear me. Briuh. That's why
I thought they would show up the bullpen a little
(01:26:41):
bit there. Yankees made some moves, but I mean, I'll
tell you, as a watcher of Duval for the last
five years, good luck with that in New York. We
saw it in Game one already They're a bullpen. How
about the game the other day seventeen sixteen Rockies pirates.
(01:27:02):
I had a buddy that was there, Is texted me
he didn't stay the whole game. I was surprised. But
what was the number you think on the Rockies at
that down nine to nothing in the first end, I mean,
down seven runs in the in the seventh inning. So
I like a lot of these teams did the Yankees
To me, I'm I just I'm not out on. But
I'm not. I'm just not in on. I just don't
really not playing the best baseball right now. I don't.
(01:27:25):
I don't know if I could trust they're started pitching
the postseason as well.
Speaker 3 (01:27:29):
I like a couple of the moves the Mets made. Yeah,
and to get the Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley to pair
with Edwin Diaz, and you're just trying to shorten games.
You know, you can get to your bullpen, and you
got it, basically a couple of closers to shorten the game.
I love that for the Mets. So we'll see what
kind of noise they make come postseason time. But I
(01:27:50):
think that's a solid move by them. And with you guys,
the stat you mentioning the Mariners and some of the
moves they made, this stat was pretty wild. So this
this was entering August. You've got the Mariners. They had
au Henny O Suarez and cal Raley. They both had
thirty five plus home runs entering August. It's only the
second time in MLB history a team has had that.
(01:28:13):
It's only the sixty one Yankees with Roger Maris and
Mickey Mantle where a team has had two thirty five
plus home run guys entering August. That's what the Mariners
have right now.
Speaker 4 (01:28:24):
They look they can you know, the postseason to me
is not about getting eight, nine, ten hits. It's about
the big hit, right, Can you get the big hit?
Speaker 2 (01:28:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:28:33):
And they got dozing all like even Crawford had the
game winner last night or two nights ago, I should
say that, by the way, we haven't. You know, well,
I like a first three under that game today. Most
likely it's been a very low scoring SERI. We talked
a lot about Brian the Rangers, and they've been better lately,
but it's been a low scoring series so far. De
(01:28:55):
grom store and didn't pitch terribly well against the Angels
last time out. That feels like a spot to sort
of get get right against the Mariners today. So a
lot of a lot of gambling angles here too.
Speaker 3 (01:29:06):
There you go the old three inning under right. Crack, Yeah, the.
Speaker 2 (01:29:11):
Old three I like it.
Speaker 4 (01:29:13):
I like it. I mean it plays well in some
of these matchups. BENMGM doesn't offer the individual team like,
for example, I think like Mariners under half a run
for the first three innings, it's more appealing to me
than like under one and a half for the first
three innings, for example. But you know, some of those
I don't think are bad. Get it right through the
(01:29:34):
lineup one time, you mow them down and you move
on from there.
Speaker 2 (01:29:37):
Yeah. Think I'm just looking at the baseball standings. You
know nothing, I shouldn't say no one really stands out,
but like the Tigers and Blue Jays pretty well, we're
five and five in the last ten games, but there's
sixty five and forty seven, both of them leading their
AL East and AL Central. But looking at across the board,
by the way, I still like the best record in
(01:29:58):
baseball in the Brewers. There's not really a standout team
this year. I'm looking at every single division Rodgers, Padres, three, Brewers,
Cubs battling there, Mets, Phillies battling, Astros, Mariners, yes, battling.
The Tigers are a runaway, up by eight games, and
I guess the Blue Jays up by four on the
(01:30:18):
Red Sox and Yanks. I mean it just but no
team is like, bang, look at this record, look how
great they are. And conversely the other way too, the
White Sox, who were you know, were picked to be
real bad forty two and sixty nine. I mean, of
course we can and the Athletics also forty nine and
sixty four. Of course we can go pick on the
(01:30:40):
Rockies thirty and eighty. But at one time the Rockies
looked like they were there are season as matter of fact,
it's a fact their season wins was like twenty six
and a half or twenty nine and a half at
the beginning when they were terrible. So not really any
team that really and Rockies won the last two games,
by the way, but no real standout teams either way.
(01:31:01):
And it just goes to show you when you go
to bet, people say, oh my god, I of course
I love the Dodgers over I'll use the Rockies over
the Rockies. But you have to lay. You're paying that tax,
laying three to one of it, and the Rockies are
beating that plus three to one being thirty and eighty
right now. So baseball not easy, not easy.
Speaker 3 (01:31:22):
How about this too? To your point, Crack where it
is it's wide open right now. What do you think
about a couple of teams, the Brewers, like you just said, Crack,
best record in baseball, do nothing at the deadline. The Cubs,
they got a better record than the Dodgers right now.
Cubs have they're sixty four and forty six. That's one
of the best records in baseball. They do nothing. What
do you think about a couple of teams like the
(01:31:44):
Brewers and Cubs that just you know, sit on their
hands at the deadline when all these other teams are
making moves trying to make a run for it.
Speaker 2 (01:31:51):
Yeah, they're not America's teams either. Let me just tell
you as well. I shouldn't say the Cubs automatically. Here
in Vegas, people love to bet the Chicago teams. Of course,
the Bears, they're big bet on teams. But like I
look at a team like the Brewers and like people
laugh at the Brewers. Yeah, yeah, it's just some flunky
that who's who's on the team. They don't even know what.
(01:32:15):
I can't aim a guy on the team, Like, yeah,
they're gonna folter, But you never know, you might get
some value at some of the books that are getting
big bets on the Dodgers and still the Yankees and
stuff by taking a Brewers flyer. So it's kind of interesting.
Speaker 4 (01:32:29):
The Bever is interesting, you know, the Miserowski injury, I
think you're off of them now. But also I don't
know if I trust like a rookie in the playoffs
like that, like they were relying him a lot in
the playoffs. I think a lot of people just have
the issue of like not having done now. Baseball is
a sport where you don't. You can sort of have
not done it before and do it in the postseason.
(01:32:50):
It happened all the time, to be honest, But I
think people look at at the Brewers and think to themselves,
just the collective team is probably not as good as
the other teams as well as they're playing now, not
as good as the other teams in the NL. Like
I don't think they as good as Philly or the
Dodgers or the Cubs. Again, they're playing good baseball. I'm
not saying they're not playing good ball, guys, but when
(01:33:11):
you look when you compare them to their team, I
just don't see the same the same team. I think
those teams are better than the Brews. The Brews right
now have the better record.
Speaker 2 (01:33:19):
But that's why you're paying those that tax, That's right.
You know, the Dodgers are two and a half to
one to win the World Series. Come on, I am
not I am not taking two and a half to
one of the Dodgers. But guess what, you know what's next?
I'm reading bet mgm odds you go all the way
to eight to one and nine to one, Phillies, Yankees Tigers,
Mets ten to one. I mean the Brewers are up
(01:33:41):
there at sixteen to one. I seem twenty to one yesterday.
So you're paying tax for betting none of those marquee
teams like the Dodgers, and I guess, I guess I
can even say that about the Phillies and the Yankees.
At eight and a half to one. You're paying some
kind of tax compared to betting teams at the best
record in baseball. But, like you said, not that experience.
It's go line up to line up, looking down at
(01:34:02):
the lineup. Just because they're one game better, it doesn't
mean anything if you look at the whole the whole
team itself, the whole rosters. I understand why the Phillies
are more likely to get to the World Series than
the Brewers, even the Blue Jays. Blue Jays are like
the eighth No. Ninth team right now odds wise to
win the World Series. Wow, Wow, playing such good ball.
Speaker 3 (01:34:26):
Yeah, just not buying it right, market people just don't
buy it. Yeah, that's gonna be the frustrating thing. I'll
just use the Brewers as an example. If you're a
diehard Milwaukee Brewers fan, you've got the best record in baseball,
and the organization does nothing at the trade deadline. Think
how many teams if they're in the same position. There's
(01:34:47):
no way they wouldn't make a move. And they absolutely would.
And it's not saying it's going to turn to gold,
but they're gonna do something that could possibly be an
asset could help them and Milwaukee's best record. Yeah, just
nothing really came to fruition. Really, what's happening right now?
How do you not go out there and make something happen?
Speaker 2 (01:35:10):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (01:35:11):
I mean did they have the prospects to do it?
I mean that's part of the question, Like you have
to be able to to trade the prospects to the
teams for the players that you want. I don't know
their you know their organizational structure terribly well, but that
I mean, that's also part of it. You could have
probably gotten some help in some form. Uh. Just the
way that the trade deadline ended up working out where
(01:35:33):
everyone sort of was able to get what they needed,
I think. But again, to be fair, I don't know
what the Brewers have as far as trade assets.
Speaker 2 (01:35:43):
And you don't know the payroll. I mean, I would
guarantee their payroll has got to be like half of
the Yankees, or it is just it's let's see. Uh well, yeah,
the Dodgers three hundred and Dodgers and the Yankees are
both three hundred and forty million total payroll. I'm sorry,
(01:36:07):
let's let's correct that that's the Mets. The Mets is
three hundred and forty million with the Dodgers. The Yanks
are two hundred and ninety seven million. Uh and by
the way, boy, go down to the Brewers. They're twenty
third in the league. They're one less than one third
of that one hundred and twelve million. Jesus, that's just
(01:36:28):
unbelievable looking at I see. I'm the guy that roots for,
you know, the Davy versus Goliath. I'm always rooting for
the underdog there, just me seeing that. It reminds me
of like Moneyball, when he would go in and say
I need and then Steve no, can't do it, can't
do it yet?
Speaker 3 (01:36:44):
Right right? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:36:45):
You know, like I'm rooting for those teams that are
the low pay rolls there to try in. Tampa Bay's
only eighty six million, are you kidding? Crazy?
Speaker 4 (01:36:56):
Playing? So how do you compete with these may don't?
It's why Tampa Bay never wins to do. That's why
they're good in season, but it's not good enough to
really the depth that you need from Jesus.
Speaker 2 (01:37:06):
Wow. Wow, there you go.
Speaker 3 (01:37:08):
It is wild, the disparity and payrolls. It's crazy in MLB.
It's wild.
Speaker 2 (01:37:13):
All right.
Speaker 3 (01:37:13):
We've got Bill Krackenberger, professional sports handicapper, Jeff Schwartz, eight
year NFL veteran. I'm Brian Nell coming up next. One
of the great things about sports radio is you never
know what topics might be discussed, and this next one
is definitely a curveball, so we'll throw out your way.
Coming up. It is Fox Sports Radio's Countdown presented by
(01:37:33):
Bet MGM. It is Fox Sports Radios Countdown presented by
Bett MGM, and it is time for the tire rack
play of the day.
Speaker 4 (01:37:43):
Once you pitch swinging a drive in the air and
let's center next deep and Hicks said in and it's
on my way and.
Speaker 11 (01:37:50):
It has gone for a hundred number two fifty for
pen Alonzo po Hickson way over the great wallet flushing
beyond a three set mark.
Speaker 2 (01:38:00):
He gives the.
Speaker 1 (01:38:01):
Mets a three and uh and lead hearing the first kidning.
Speaker 2 (01:38:05):
There you go.
Speaker 3 (01:38:06):
The Polar Bear Pete Alonzo going yard that's complements of
the Mets radio network. For over forty years, ty Iraq
has been helping customers find the right tires for how,
what and where they drive ships fast and free back
by free road hazard protection with convenient installation options like
mobile tire installation ti iraq dot com. The way tire
buying should be okay. For the curveball story, that would
(01:38:30):
be sex toys being thrown.
Speaker 12 (01:38:32):
On the court.
Speaker 4 (01:38:32):
I was hoping you're getting to this.
Speaker 3 (01:38:34):
These WNBA games. It's happened twice this week. So the
first time it happened was on Tuesday. It was the
Valkyries at the Atlanta Dream And the new news is
that they arrested the guy has to be a guy,
no chance it's a woman throwing a sex toy on
the court. But they arrested the individual who threw the
(01:38:55):
sex toy onto the court at this Atlanta Dream game
earlier in the week. He's been thrown in the clink,
right for a second. At least been arrested, and they say, hey,
you face ejection and at least a one year ban
if you're caught doing this throwing any objects on the
court and It happened again on Friday in the Chicago
Sky game, same team Valkyries. Valkyrie is involved in both games.
(01:39:17):
I don't know if there's a coincidence with that, but
it was involving both Golden State Valkyries games. And look,
one thing that caught my attention there was a tweet
sent out by Liberty forward Isabelle Harrison. Okay, she went
on X and she wrote, Arena security, Hello, please do better.
(01:39:40):
It's not funny, never was funny. Throwing anything on the
court is so dangerous. So I totally agree with the
last part. It is dangerous. But this idea, you'll get
this all the time, like security, Hello, what's going on?
Do a better job. It's like, what do you want
security to do? Unless they're sitting court side with jet
packs and they sky in the air to intercept a
(01:40:01):
sex toy being thrown on the court, that's where it's
gonna end up. The only thing you can do is
do a better search when these fans enter the game.
But if they sneak this in, it's getting thrown on
the court. That's what's gonna happen.
Speaker 4 (01:40:15):
What's interesting to me about the WNBA. First of all,
there's so much drama now, but in general, like they're
so far behind other sports when it comes to things
that happen to the lead that cause overreactions. Like remember
in a Bill's game a couple of years of the
female you know toy was thrown and everyone just giggled
(01:40:38):
to themselves like, l look at this funny thing, right
Bill Field, I don't know, yeah, is it dangerous? Yes?
Should you not? Is it a problem if you chuck
it on the court and someone trips over it? Absolutely?
But in the other sports just lol Lol, they fished
it on the court. Lol, that's kind of funny. WNBA.
It's like this huge thing. It's like they're so far
(01:41:01):
behind other sports when it comes down to these things.
The other one that caught my eye this week Brian
was de Wanna Bonner went back to Indiana and got booed.
Of course, she got booed. It's sports. She signed with
the with the team, she asked to leave after two weeks,
excited no reason why, had cryptic social media messages, and
(01:41:22):
then came back in a booter. Of course they did, sure,
And yet there was this huge discussion about like it
wasn't you know there are teammates. It wasn't fair, and
anybody it's their mean to her. The WNBA is so
far behind other sports when it comes to sort of
his discourse. They haven't had to go through it before.
(01:41:43):
No one was throwing female sex toys on the court.
Two years ago there was they'd never get it. No
one watching it now, they're watching it now. There is
a there is a far away sports book that put
up odds for what the color will be next time,
like a game it will be thrown. I should ask
Christian about this. I'm kind of bummed that in but
(01:42:05):
you know, like crack, I think it again taking out
the fact that it could in fact hurt someone if
it makes it on the court someone trips over it.
But again that's probably pretty rare. I mean, if it's
someone's gonna get it immediately when it gets in the courts,
I don't know, is it great. I don't think it's
that big of a deal.
Speaker 2 (01:42:24):
You know that that was Uh, you stole my thunder there.
Everyone knows. I've had major success in my lifetime betting
on gator Rade color in the Super Bowl. Had some
good information about four or five years ago. Both years
in a row, I want to find a spot here,
let's say Christian would have been great where I can
bet on the color of this toy.
Speaker 4 (01:42:46):
Yeah it's been green both times, so okay. It also
seems like I am not in this market, so maybe
I gotta do some research. But I don't want to
look on a computer. I don't even know what, like
what they cost. I feel like an expensive proposition to
keep throwing them on the courts, I think, I don't.
I wouldn't.
Speaker 2 (01:43:03):
You know, here in Vegas you have these places on
every corner, so I mean literally, they're they're they're everywhere,
just like one block off the strip, even on the strip.
So I'm sure they can get one for about ten
bucks probably here late.
Speaker 4 (01:43:17):
Night specials getting are getting one thrown up there today.
Speaker 2 (01:43:20):
Yeah, so ten bucks.
Speaker 4 (01:43:22):
So it's cracked. And for the aces today, you know
it's cracked.
Speaker 3 (01:43:27):
Yeah, you could actually affect the market crack like you
get it right, tweet, you know, like I don't know
how to say it, like just half of it almost
looks it resembles like it's in your coat pocket or something,
and you know you see like yeah, just a little
glimpse of it looks blue, looks like maybe that's the
way to go.
Speaker 2 (01:43:47):
You wonder though, what kind of security measures I haven't
been to a w NBA game you go through. I
don't know if you go through anything like that. I'm
sure you don't.
Speaker 4 (01:43:57):
But they're not like you have it in your hands.
Speaker 2 (01:44:00):
They're not metal r.
Speaker 3 (01:44:01):
Yeah, that's the whole thing, right, Yeah, I've got a
couple of times, and you know they have either a
no bag policy or it has to right clear.
Speaker 4 (01:44:09):
It's probably an NBA game is so different than that, they're.
Speaker 3 (01:44:11):
Not, right, yeah, right, yeah, right, But that's the funny
thing is the flip side is if they're doing like
extensive frisks in an effort to you know, get rid
of the sex toys, man, the court people would freak
out about that too.
Speaker 2 (01:44:26):
They would, they would.
Speaker 4 (01:44:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:44:28):
So, and you know, we're fooling around just people listening here.
No one wants to see that happens. It could be
very dangerous throwing anything on the court. So we're joking
around before anyone says, oh, you guys are promoting throwing
these things on that court.
Speaker 3 (01:44:42):
No, no, But Jeff's right, if this was if this
happened in two NBA games in a week, right, you're
not having all these serious messages. Guys, this is so dangerous.
They they'd be like, I don't know what's going on
with that man, and they would move on and it would.
Speaker 2 (01:44:57):
Star didn't happen. If Jeff said that it happened I
Bill's game, would you say it happened football game? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:45:02):
Yeah, seven years ago someone through a minor football game
might even during the COVID year.
Speaker 3 (01:45:07):
Gets there like big right right in the middle of
the play craft like, wow.
Speaker 4 (01:45:19):
Wow, you probably google it, you privacy a feature on
your Google know they yeah, everyone just like, oh, well,
that's kind of funny, Like what a dummy for doing that?
Like and now it's it's just just like this huge thing.
Now it's kind of it's you know, it's kind of
and and again.
Speaker 2 (01:45:35):
What's a huge thing?
Speaker 4 (01:45:37):
Like the way this has become something I don't think
I see where you went.
Speaker 3 (01:45:43):
But it's true, Like Jeff, it's true. The more that
you talk about it, focus on it, the more the
light bulb goes on. In the next Nimrod to say,
this is what I need to do. I need to
be the next installment of throwing this onto the court
in the next game. Correct, They get smarter to just
downplay it, let it go away. Yeah, definitely, that's not
(01:46:04):
what they're doing. All right. We've got Isaac Loewen Prawn
Lowen Crawn. He does not downplay things, right. He shines
a bright light on the things that need to be
under the spotlight. He's going to do it again right now.
I low with the latest. What's going on, buddy.
Speaker 10 (01:46:19):
Sorry to interrupt that high brow, intellectual, sophisticated sports conversation.
I know our listeners are certainly sorry about it. We
do have some fresh NFL news on this Sunday. Speaking
of the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott
telling reporters today that receiver Khalil Shakir is week to
(01:46:41):
week with a high ankle sprain. The Philadelphia Eagles today
held receiver Aj Brown out of practice due to a
hamstring injury. Baseball today, the Milwaukee Brewers plays right hander
Jacob Misearowski on the fifteen day injured list with a
left tibia contusion. Speedway Classic on Saturday evening at Bristol
Motor Speedway in Tennessee between the Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati
(01:47:03):
Reds was suspended in the first inning due to rain
with the Reds leading one nothing. They hope to resume
it today at one pm Eastern. So far, so good,
as far as the weather today at the Bristol Motor Speedway. Now, guys,
we got a little pop quiz for you. The Braves
were called a pitcher from Triple A to start today's game.
And in my opinion, he has a name that sounds
like he's a NASCAR driver appropriately enough. So I'm gonna
(01:47:26):
give you three names, two of them I made up.
One of them is the actual brave starting pitcher today,
And you're gonna guess which one is the real starting pitcher?
Choice A Earnhardt's Bartlefield, Choice B, Hurston Waldrip, and Choice
C Cole Petty Grew. Who is the real brave starting
(01:47:51):
pitcher today with a NASCAR sounding name Earnhardt, Bartlefield, Hurston,
Waldrip or cold Pettigrew?
Speaker 6 (01:47:58):
Who's gonna start?
Speaker 1 (01:47:59):
Guess first?
Speaker 6 (01:48:00):
Go see Okay, Jeff.
Speaker 2 (01:48:02):
Go C.
Speaker 3 (01:48:03):
There's no way it's a I'll go choice B.
Speaker 6 (01:48:07):
Okay, Brian says B.
Speaker 4 (01:48:09):
It's not a that I feel good about you.
Speaker 10 (01:48:12):
I'll go I'll go with A give me a okay,
and our winner is Brian No, it is Birston Waldraft,
who was.
Speaker 4 (01:48:24):
A great NASCAR name.
Speaker 3 (01:48:25):
Yeah, absolutely is a NASCAR.
Speaker 4 (01:48:28):
If they call him up for today or he was
already like you just called him up for today. Wow,
that's a that's a neat call up. Hey, buddy, go
pitching this awkward stadium. Yeah, for your first major league start.
Speaker 3 (01:48:40):
But I think this is a cool idea. Are you
are you up for this? Like the MLB Speedway Classic,
I think it's cool. It's different. Is that a NASCAR track?
Speaker 2 (01:48:50):
You know?
Speaker 3 (01:48:50):
They sold a ton of tickets. Eighty five thousand tickets
sold up for it.
Speaker 4 (01:48:55):
Did you watch it all last night? It looked like I.
Speaker 3 (01:48:57):
Watched I watched hours of rain the lay coverage because
it's different. It's not like break up the monotony. We're
playing one hundred and sixty two games. Do something that's different.
I love this side.
Speaker 4 (01:49:09):
So I thought the Cornfield game just looked better on TV.
Speaker 3 (01:49:13):
Absolutely.
Speaker 4 (01:49:14):
Like the thing about last night was that it looked
like you were playing on a high school baseball field.
The lights were super dim, the field, the dimensions, it
just looked it didn't look like a major league environment.
The Cornfield game looks like you're playing on a big
league field. Like I think that that game just didn't
look visually pleasing last night. It'll probably look better today.
(01:49:34):
It's during the day, right and it won't be raining
and whatnot. But yeah, I think those are fine to
make it to break up the monominal this season. I
think the Cornfield game, though, is really cool and they.
Speaker 3 (01:49:48):
Should do that every year. Right, How do they do
that every year?
Speaker 4 (01:49:51):
Correct? I don't know why, I don't know, but they
should do that. But I feel bad for Fox, I mean,
to have to like to go there, set this all
up and then basically what they did yesterday was like
sports talk radio, Hey man, that's right, it's better now
Dodgers or Padres Poppy. What do you think? It's a
bunch of like NASCAR baseball montages. I mean they' obviously
(01:50:15):
not prepared for, you know, for this having to I
mean they were prepared, I should should say, but like
to do two hours of this was probably not what
they thought they were gonna have to do on.
Speaker 3 (01:50:25):
Saturday, no doubt. And that's the thing too, is you
mentioned this from a betting standpoint. Chase Burns, by the way,
sounds like a NASCAR driver as well. But they're showing
the doppler during the game, and it was funny. They'd
show it and it's just like nothing. It's a sea
of green, meaning weather is going to be hitting that area,
(01:50:45):
and then there'd be like a pocket that was good
for maybe like twenty minutes, and here comes another like
huge sea of green, meaning they're not getting this game in.
And if you're betting on unders for Chase Burns, strike out,
hits given up, what have you thinking, Hey, this game
is not going to be played in its entirety. It's
(01:51:06):
a really sharp play if you could get in in on.
Speaker 4 (01:51:09):
I missed I missed on it.
Speaker 2 (01:51:12):
I know it. It was right there.
Speaker 4 (01:51:13):
It was, it was there. It was obvious to see.
I'm I'm shocked to even like took the tarp off
to try to play a second time.
Speaker 3 (01:51:21):
There was a base hit to left field and the
poor third baseman for the Braves just dives into this puddle.
It just kind of sits there, like, oh man, that
infield was wrecked. So unfortunate timing. But hey, one thing
I wanted to throw at you guys with the Pro
Football Hall of Fame induction ceremonies yesterday, so we had
(01:51:43):
Eric Allen, Jared Allen, Antonio Gates, and Sterling Sharp. And
I'm just curious, there's no wrong answer here, which player
did you enjoy watching the most over the years? Which
one of those four guys would you go with?
Speaker 4 (01:51:55):
Oh, I mean probably Gay, I would imagine, yeah, And
I'd played with Jared Allen for a year. I mean
he was an incredible football player. I mean, obviously from
my position, it wasn't great to have to try to
play against him, right, But probably probably Gates out of those.
You know, I'm I'm not too young for Stirling Sharp,
(01:52:16):
but he got hurt in the early nineties, correct, so
not you know in my in my I guess formative
watching years, but it was not a Packers fan, don't
remember much of him. I'm actually watching him play, So
probably Gates.
Speaker 2 (01:52:30):
Yeah, I think it's an easy answer here. Gates for me.
I've met him a couple of times. What a friendly,
what a nice guy, just a really nice guy. Him
and Tony Gonzalez for really the two tight ends that
changed the position. Gates was top notch. Would probably I
mean he could probably play. Maybe he's a little bit
(01:52:50):
too big, but he could probably have played wide receiver
if he wanted to. I mean, people forget he actually
played basketball in college. He was one of the best
basketball players I Kent State that they ever had. I mean,
he was one of the first elite, elite pass catching
tight ends, and it was a matchup issue for every
team he played against. I mean, Gates paved the way
for like Gronk Kelsey. It's nice to see him being
(01:53:12):
honored in the Hall of Fame. And like I said,
I got to meet him twice. He was really nice guy.
Speaker 4 (01:53:17):
Crack. I promise you no one forgot he played basketball, buddy,
that has that has been said one million and a
half times. All right, Well, it's funny, like we always
joke about. You know, Hey, did you know Clayon, Kershaw
and Stafford played high school baseball together?
Speaker 3 (01:53:36):
Like, do you guys know that that which the high school?
Speaker 4 (01:53:39):
Yeah, shocking, right, it is funny. I mean, Gates also
played the position. It's easiest to watch. I mean, how
many are watching Eric Allen play cornerback?
Speaker 3 (01:53:48):
I would imagine, And he was so smooth.
Speaker 4 (01:53:51):
Yeah, sure, watch cornerbacks play like that unless you're a
fan of the of the team. So I think just
in general, it makes sense that Gates was probably the one,
you know, the answer.
Speaker 3 (01:54:02):
For this, Yeah, I'd put Gates at the top of
the list. Kind of what you were saying there. Jeff
too is just the position, scoring a bunch of touchdowns,
not playing college football. He's the only Pro Football Hall
of Famer that didn't play college football. That's amazing that
he's in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Sterling Sharp,
It's funny. I always think of Sterling Sharp this famous play.
(01:54:23):
He caught a bomb in a snow game against the Lions.
They're playing at Lambeau. Brett Favre throw him a deep
ball and it was so snowy on the field he
didn't know where he was, so he stopped right before
the goal line, got tackled, fumbled, grabbed the ball, and
then scored a touch but he didn't know where he
was on the field.
Speaker 4 (01:54:41):
That's awesome, So.
Speaker 3 (01:54:43):
That play I always say, I always think of two.
He had these neck issues Sterling Sharp. Yeah, and kind
of like you know, your chin strap, like a player's
chin strap on their helmet. That's kind of what he
had on the back of his helmet. He kind of
just had like this chin strap that went down to
his shoulder pads to try to help his neck out.
Just random things I remember with Sterling, sharp but really
(01:55:05):
good player Jared Allen just bring in the style, really
to being a great sack artist on top of it.
But he was just himself man with the mullet and
the calf roping sack dance. You know, Like I love
Jared Allen too. I can only imagine what was like
to try to block that guy. You had to do
that sort of on a daily basis there, Jeff.
Speaker 4 (01:55:26):
No, I mean I was playing guard by then, but
still it's still not fun I mean to have to.
We played the Vikings a couple of times. I mean,
it's preparing for him was never funny, even if you
weren't specifically blocking him.
Speaker 3 (01:55:37):
Yeah, no doubt. Good stuff right there. All we got
Jeff Schwartz, eight year NFL veteran. Bill Krackenberger professional sports handicapper.

Speaker 4 (01:57:23):
Rapid fire.
Speaker 3 (01:57:25):
Okay, Crack, we start with you with something you like.
Speaker 2 (01:57:28):
All right, I asked you if I gave this out today.
I want to make sure because the line is still there.
So let's go. Week one, Sunday, September seventh, Miami's playing
Indianapolis in Indy. MGM has plus one and a half.
So plus one and a half minus fifteen Indianapolis. I
do not see that the case. By the time this
game kicks off Week one, we have a player ready
(01:57:49):
Indianapolis plus one and a half. First Miami Dolphins.
Speaker 3 (01:57:53):
Brian betting against me, Bet against my Cardinals, bet against
the Dolphins.
Speaker 2 (01:57:56):
What is it with crack?
Speaker 3 (01:57:57):
My gosh I.
Speaker 4 (01:58:01):
Young, the pitcher for the Orioles today under fifteen and
a half outs, is a nine star of the season.
He's only been over five innings twice this year. The
Cubs have not hit terribly well in the series. They
look to I think Avenge, they're poor. Lost yesterday. Early
in this game. I think Young does not make it
out of the fifth ending.
Speaker 3 (01:58:17):
Here, Okay, I'm gonna look to the WNBA. Here, I'm
gonna take the Golden State Valterries. Their team total over
seventy three and a half points. Of many reasons, I
won't give you all seventy five of them, but I don't.
Speaker 4 (01:58:30):
Like a couple of out there. Well because the doc
Reas were so bad the.
Speaker 3 (01:58:34):
Other night, they're bad the other night, and think the
Aces defense is a wreck. They're so bad, and it's
the second day of a back to back. It's been
a recent trend in the WNBA where the team playing
a second day of a back to back or second night,
they do give up a good amount of points and
they oftentimes don't fare too well. I might look at
(01:58:55):
plus seven and a half as well, but I like
the team total over. Also look at the average. Just
the Valkyries, who don't light it up offensively, they're still
averaging seventy eight points per night. Yeah, and the Aces
give up eighty three points per game. We got to
get to over seventy three and a half. That's more
than doable. I'll take that for the Valkyries today.
Speaker 4 (01:59:17):
Right, we look at it. We also have to play
your girl Ezsie over points. Who hits the fever? I
forgot about that.
Speaker 3 (01:59:23):
You know, you either go Zsie or you go Necka,
you know against the What do you.
Speaker 4 (01:59:28):
Think you which one? I mean, who's gonna get more
touches in the paint.
Speaker 3 (01:59:35):
That's the thing is like mag Ba Gore doesn't get
a ton of opportunities offensively, and Mekka she'll she's a
perimeter player, but she can score down low as well.
I would guess it's probably more Neka, uh, you know,
like in the paint and closer to the rim.
Speaker 4 (01:59:54):
For those who aren't aware, we take the center against
the fever every game.
Speaker 3 (01:59:57):
Yeah, this is this is Jeff's angle man in any
centers cashes.
Speaker 4 (02:00:02):
Were they played the first time, as he only had
nine points, she's over eight and a half. It was
eight and a half right now and Neka had sixteen.
Speaker 3 (02:00:09):
Yeah, I like Neka, you go Ezzie. I think either
way you get a fighting.
Speaker 4 (02:00:14):
I have an hour and a half. I have three
hours to figure it out. I'll have an answer figure,
I'll text you.
Speaker 3 (02:00:18):
Okay, fair enough, we got Cracks play of the day.
Let's do this.
Speaker 1 (02:00:24):
This is the best play of the day as.
Speaker 4 (02:00:29):
Well.
Speaker 3 (02:00:29):
Crack, you have successfully faded my Cardinals, faded you know,
my Dolphins. You want to fade the Notre Dame fighting Irish.
It's coming.
Speaker 2 (02:00:36):
I'll come on the Irish. Actually, okay, good, I found
some value there. But now we're going to go to
bed MGMs where you could scroll down to the Rams
regular season wins. I didn't tell either of these guys
also this point one season wins. So now they have
from four and a half to fourteen and a half.
And like I said, I don't know any other sportsbook
(02:00:57):
that does this. Of course you're gonna pay for those
