Speaker 1 (00:05):
This is Straight Fire with Jason McIntyre. What is up
Straight Fiream, It's me Jason MacIntyre. Straight Foyer for Friday,
August the eighth. Oh it boos out. It was a
bustling night on the sports scene.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Holy key. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
NFL games. And here's the thing. I don't know if
you guys noticed NFL preseason. It's hitting different this year
because starting quarterbacks are actually playing. Now that's a good thing.
I'm sorry, I let you amend that starting quarterbacks are
playing for teams that have question marks.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Okay, Lamar Jackson did not play.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
We don't expect him to play, doesn't need to play,
got nothing to prove, right, I you know, Saturday night,
I don't expect Jordan Love to be taking snaps. He might,
but I just don't know that there's value there. Jared Goff,
I don't.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
I don't know that.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
You know, these are established guys, but you get a
guy like a I don't know, Anthony Richardson and you
kind of got.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
To see what he's got. Right.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
This is your former top five pick. He's had a
couple of years here. Shane Stikeen trying to whip him
into shape.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
And it's like.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
First quarter Anthony Richardson with two starting backup tackles. Okay,
I think backups all along the offensive line. But the
tackles are the reason I bring it up because you
know there was motion. One tackle misses the free runner
Ojabo I believe is his name. I think he went
to Michigan, and then the running back out of the

(01:36):
backfield just runs right by him. Richardson, the quarterback sees
none of this, gets buried initially.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Slow to get up.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Oh Jesus, his shoulders, his arm turns out dislocated.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
Pinky.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
They just popped it back in NBD. But he did
not go back on the field. And folks, listen, I
know it's just preseason. I really want to give this
guy chance, but man, ar my guy, Yeah, I'm just yeah,
I mean, how many chances.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Are you gonna get?

Speaker 3 (02:08):
Like this is exactly the opportunity Anthony Richardson wants, right,
he is picked by his coach.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
We're giving you the shot.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
Daniel Jones has to has to take you down, has
to win the job. We're giving you the first crack.
And like that's your first impression this year. It's like,
are you seeing growth? I didn't see it on that
play in question.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Is it fair to put him out there with backups?
You could argue not, but.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
I mean we're talking about a preseason game, you know,
like it's not the end of the world. Like Shadure
Sanders is gonna play tonight. He hasn't played with the ones.
I don't think once in camp. I think he's played
with twos and threes.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
I think.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
Chadour's gonna be out there with all backups. I don't
expect much tonight. But Chador is also a fifth round rookie.
Anthony Richardson was a top five picked.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
This is his I think his third year in the league.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
We're still waiting for Anthony Richardson to pop, And it's like,
you get this opportunity, I'll never forget.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
So you guys know, I got to FS one. I
started on.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
This show Speak for Yourself, and it was Cowherd, this
guy is Gey, this insufferable guy named Jason Whitlock, and
then me and then after like you know, for me,
I thought it was kind of easy. Yeah, just doing
TV talking about sports.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
This is what I do.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
You know, come on, it's not that hard talking sports.
I can do it.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
I'm a talker cow heard all of a sudden is
out for three days ill and so they had me
host the show with the other guy, and for me,
I thought it went smooth. I was like, oh, this
is easy, this is cake, and there weren't a lot
of mistakes.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
The producers after where we're like, dude, you just got
thrust in there. You kicked ass. That's great.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Ready on the spot. You know, I've felt great. The
next week, I get in the elevator with an executive
who no longer with the company, by the way, and
I'm like, hey, so you know that was fun, man,
thanks forgiving me the opportunity. And he looks me dead
in the eye and goes, well, you weren't my first choice,
but yeah, I thought you did all right. And I

(04:13):
was like, like, I got wounded.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
I was like, what I did? Okay?

Speaker 3 (04:17):
Everybody on the staff, Jay Mac, what what a great
job they made this video for me with my highlights
like it was. I had a great three days. That
was my opportunity to fill in, and I thought I
crushed it. Anthony Richardson got his opportunity here in preseason
one to easily distance himself from Daniel Jones. Now Stichen's
giving both of them a chance. And it's like Richardson

(04:39):
showed ain't a damn thing in his opportunity. So now
Daniel Jones has all this runway. He's like, I'm playing
with house money. I'm just trying to elongate my career.
I had my chance in New York, I got to
a playoff game, I won one in Minnesota.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
I like to do more.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
And I don't know you just again, first impressions matter.
And Anthony Richardson did not make a good one rob
on Thursday Night.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
I mean, has he made one at all entering his
NFL career. I don't want to pile on the guy.
I don't want to pile on the guy. But you
know that's saying like the NBA, get ready to learn Chinese, buddy,
Nathey Richardson, get ready to learn Canadian football, buddy, because
you're gonna be out of the league here relatively quickly.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
Should he get his Canadian passport.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
He might have to. He might have to. He might
learn to start pronouncing Trudeau correct wow. Because that play
where he got injured with his finger, which he'll be fine,
be sore for a couple of days, but he'd be fine.
Was some of the most basic, rudimentary, nowadays high school
level quarterbacking that you'll ever see. We slide protection one way.

(05:48):
We know there's gonna be a free rusher. That means, hey,
there's a running back out of the backfield, flip it
to him. If not, there's a receiver who deliberately cuts
his route short, flip it to him instead. He's looking
the complete wrong He's looking in the direction where his
protection is, which is the opposite of what you're supposed
to do. And then he gets destroyed. And this has been,

(06:10):
as you mentioned, an ongoing problem for him. All Right,
he has appeared in fifteen games now as an NFL quarterback.
In fifteen games, my guy has already accounted for what
is this de debt debt, seventeen turnovers in fifteen games.
Nine times he's completed less than fifty percent of his passes.

(06:34):
Anthony Richardson is that rare guy where if you look
at him and you just see his traits and as measurables,
you think you were looking at an Adonis, that you
were looking at not only the best quarterback but arguably
the greatest football player who ever lived. He's six y five,
he's two fifty. He can throw the ball eighty yards,
he runs a four to four forty, he can jump

(06:55):
over a house. He has everything you look for in
an athlete. The problem is he has no idea what's
a ride to play quarterback, and the fact that Daniel
Jones Danny Dives aka Danny Pennies is leaps and bounds
better than him as a quarterback, speaks volumes about him.

(07:17):
Anthy Richardson, I'm glad he's healthy. I'm sure he's gonna
be fine here in a couple of days. As I mentioned,
that's the most important thing. But he's not an NFL quarterback.
He's one of that weird situation where it's clear, and
it's been clear now for about a year that he's
in this weird space where he's clearly not good enough

(07:39):
to play in the NFL. The problem is he won't
get any better unless he actually plays. So like I said,
get ready to learn Canadian.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
That seems a little excessive, but you might be onto something.
I mean at some point, Stichen's got to be like, listen, man,
I push for us to draft this guy right because
I had Jalen, I thought it could Brook Magic and
now here we are three years and I got nothing
to show for it. So Danny Dimes, can you get me?

Speaker 2 (08:06):
I don't know?

Speaker 3 (08:06):
Nine ten wins and we had ta on the podcast,
I went through his Colt's preview. I did not realize
this rob last year. So the Colts were eight and nine,
but according to all the metrics, they were much worse
than their record. They were in thirteen one score games
in a bad division. Three of their wins came against

(08:27):
backup quarterbacks. They went eight and five in those one
score games. The receivers can't catch a cold. The offensive
line other than the Star of Nelson was hurt, banged up. Essentially,
they kind of smoke and mirrrored their way to eight wins.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
Can Daniel Jones do that? When Tennessee clearly got better?

Speaker 3 (08:44):
When I believe Jacksonville got better and they'll have a
healthy Trevor Lawrence Houston, I don't think got better, but
they're still much better than the Colts. So the Colts
are looking at last place in that division. I don't know,
strike it could be on the hot seat. Robbie is
just like, I think that's the way I'm talking myself
into it now. It's like, all right, man, you've had
three years. Have you seen progress?

Speaker 4 (09:04):
That's totally fair. Well, I won't say it's fair, but
it's reasonable to expect that because he is supposed to
be the quarterback whisper, and they missed him the quarterbackquisition,
point blank period. And we've seen guys get fired for
less and in a scenario where we assume, in this situation,
Indianapolis is going to be picking him relatively high. I'm
assuming somewhere in the top five, if not number one.

(09:28):
You know, maybe if the Colts get number one, Archie
Manning changes his tune and says, arch go ahead and
go pro. We're gonna want to let you go this time,
go play where Peyton played, then maybe that changes the calculus.
But I wouldn't be surprised if we're this time next
year talking about a new coach, new quarterback in Indy.
Not at all.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
I mean that that was the big takeaway from last night, Skames,
I thought, and Rob I actually found myself watching preseason
football very rare, very rare. By the way, in that game,
the Baltimore Ravens quarterbacks Devin Leary I think he was
NC State and Cooper rush former Cowboys guy. They were
combined five of sixteen passing for forty nine yards and

(10:06):
they won the football game. I mean they rushed for
a buck. Seventy seven Colts put up no resistance. But
Riley Leonard, by the way, looked basically like he just
not not built for the NFL. Checked down Charlie twenty
four pass attempts from ninety two yards like bro, jeez.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
Yeah a culture. They're down bad, as the kids like
to say.

Speaker 4 (10:38):
Quickly, before we move on, we're talking about the AFC South.
We didn't even talk about this focus Star recording. I
was speaking to somebody close to the Jacksonville Jaguars organization
yesterday in a conversation with a couple of people, and
I say it on my hey, between you and me,
I know you'll never say it publicly, but what's the
deal with Trevor Lawrence? I know you love Trevor Lawrence.

(10:58):
I wanted to ask on your half about Trevor Lawrence.
I'm like, why does he keep getting shot after shot
after shot, and he goes, well, you know, he just
got paid, so that's why he's gonna keep getting a shot.
I'm like, well, didn't he get paid off of you know, potential.
He's like, yeah, pretty much, he kind of got paid
off of like eight games. And then the other person
I'm with him, and then you know, he got drafted
in the NFL based off one good season at Clemson,

(11:22):
and then someone else says, well, actually he got the
one good season at Clemson was really just the one
win over Nick Saban. And so if so facto, if
we're going to do deductive reasoning, your guy, Trevor Lawrence
generational prospect has been living now for almost a decade
off of one good win against Nick Saban.

Speaker 3 (11:41):
Right, hold, I just wanted to a twenty second time.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
I'm gonna. I don't know why I continue to defend
Trevor Lawrence. But he started for he started for three.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
Years at Clemson. Yes, you know he as a freshman
through thirty touchdowns, a second year through thirty six hundred yards,
like he was finished second in the heightsman finished sventh.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
Like he had a great college career. Let's not not
one year. I mean he did. The one win over Nick.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
Saban was incredible. I think they did. They not get
to another title game. Let me just check.

Speaker 4 (12:11):
I think they got to a semi final.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
When they smashed Alabama forty four to sixteen, lost to
the Joe Burrow justin Jefferson team forty two to twenty
five in the right Oh no, no, wait a second,
was that.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
The Joe Burrow team in that forty two twenty five?

Speaker 4 (12:27):
They had to have been Joe Burrow, wasn't it?

Speaker 3 (12:29):
But I thought they went, Yes, that was Jamar Chase
Joe Burrow. Yeah, yeah, oh that's right. They scored like
seventy in the semifinal.

Speaker 4 (12:35):
Right, that's right, right, right?

Speaker 3 (12:38):
And then in his final year, they lost to Ohio
State in the semifinal forty nine to twenty eight.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
Did Ohio State win.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
The Natty that year? That was No, There's no way
Ohio State won the ninety that year? Did they twenty
twenty one?

Speaker 4 (12:54):
I don't think so.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
No, they lost to Alabama.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
They okay, so they to the Alabama team with Mac
Jones and like those receivers, who the hell were the
Holy cal Mac Jones had some monster numbers.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
Anyways, so yeah.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
Trevor Lawrence Allison, I'll continue to defend him.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
I think he had an unbelievable college career. Uh.

Speaker 3 (13:17):
And yeah, he's he's not going anywhere. Even if he
flames out the next He's gonna get at least three
more years.

Speaker 4 (13:23):
Yeah, because they paid him, He's gonna keep getting the
benefit of the doubt. And I can't And I just
want to say this like a full circle moment with
Atthew interested, Like, the reason why he keeps getting reps
is because they drafted him forth overall. Yeah, and and
and the reason why, in my warp line of thinking,
that Trevor Lawrence keeps getting action is because he's been
living off potential for about a decade.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
Damn, bro, Lawren's gonna shut you the hell up. You
just watch this.

Speaker 3 (13:47):
Not as huge of a deal, but Joe Burrow played.
They looked super crisp. Uh. If you're into preseason drives,
Burrow and company get the football, ten plays, seventy one yards,
Tuddy get the football, eight plays, sixty five yards, touchdown.
And then they pulled Burrow in company and the Bengals

(14:09):
offense kind of fell apart. But what's interesting is despite
the Bengals looking incredible offensively, the defense was absolute trash.
They made Tanner McKee, the immortal Tanner McKee basically look
like Joe Montana in the pocket twenty of twenty five,
two fifty two two touchdowns. Listen, and he's throwing to Yeah,

(14:35):
no start well, Johan Dotson, I guess, is angling for
a starting spot. But he's throwing to someone named Darius Cooper,
Johnny Wilson, Taylor Morin. These are not household things, guys,
and the Bengals could not stop them. So at some
point this season, if Joe Burrow's defenses continues to let
him down, He's gonna lose his mind in one of

(14:57):
these press conferences about this defense, because he was doing
it last year. I'll remember a game, I don't remember
which game, but he it was like a Sunday night
or Monday night.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
He like left, you know, they lose.

Speaker 3 (15:06):
He's walking down the tunnel and he goes I guess
into wherever the GM and the owner are, and then
the coach came afterward, and by my many accounts, that
was when Burrow was.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
Like this, this crap cannot continue to happen.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
I'm putting my life on the line. I'm crushing it.
I'm doing my job. The offense is doing their job.
What the hell's going on? And I think if this
continues again, Tanner Tanner McKee like, I don't know exactly
what his NFL future is, but I will go ahead
and guess in his career r NFL regular season under ten.

Speaker 4 (15:40):
Career touchdout passes.

Speaker 2 (15:42):
Okay, so, and he's carving up the Bengals.

Speaker 5 (15:45):
Now.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
I haven't looked to see how many Bengals defenders played,
but if the backups.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
Are getting shredded this badly, that ain't great news. It
could be a long season for Burrow and company.

Speaker 3 (15:56):
Buddy, I don't know if you're with me Rob on that,
but I just I'm the vibe are not great.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
No, I'm totally with you.

Speaker 4 (16:01):
And there's conflicting reports about who played last night for
the Bengals defense. There were some of the saying a
lot of starters played. I mean, I don't full disclosure.
I don't know they're full too deep right now, I
haven't really gone into that much of my research yet.
It's still early in August. But I believe them when
they say that a lot of their rotational guys played,
and this is like an ongoing problem. I mean, just
look at last season. There's some of my favorite stats

(16:22):
about the Bengals defense because their offense was historically great, right,
I mean to put into context, Joe Burrow had two
games against the Ravens where he combined I believe, nine
touchdowns one pick, and he lost both of those games. So, like,
I don't know how that happens, But here we go.
Quick snapshot of the Bengals defense from last year. During
a critical five game stretch in the mid season, the

(16:45):
Bengals defense allowed an average of thirty five points per
game that led to them going one to four. The
Bengals last season tied for the most losses in a
season this century. Went scoring at least twenty five points
in a game they went five, And historically in the NFL,
when a team scores at least twenty five points, they
win eighty one percent of the time.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
Okay, wow.

Speaker 4 (17:07):
The Bengals were bottom seven in points per game and
yards per game, bottom six and sacks percentage, bottom ten
and third down defense, bottom ten and penalties, and thirtieth
in red zone defense, which is why I said, at
least on this podcast, when they extended those receivers. This
doesn't change the calculus for me. We saw what this

(17:30):
story looks like. Joe Burrow can be awesome. I think
Joe Burrow's great. I think Joe Burrow has a case
to be you know, maybe the best quarterback in football.
Jamar Chase is in the conversation, the best wide receiver
in football. T Higgins is on the short list of
the best number two wide receivers in football. Chase Brown
was a revelation last year. But their defense sucks. That

(17:52):
defense is just as bad at stopping people as Anthony
Richardson is at Hittees' receivers. So unless they can get
that shoring up. I know they got a new defensive coordinator.
We'll see maybe come Halloween they got it turned around.
But I'm seriously considering in my preseason picks having Cincinnati
missed the playoffs again, and I would never thought I

(18:16):
would say this considering. I am a huge believer in
Joe Burrow in that offense, but that defense is I'm
not gonna say historically bad, but it's right on track
to being historically bad. It's all terrible in Cincinnati.

Speaker 3 (18:28):
I was looking at Ta's preview, And the weirdest part
is the defense did not make that many changes to
the starting line oft year, like starting defense. Essentially they
lost a linebacker, a defensive end, and their nickelback and
a cornerback.

Speaker 2 (18:47):
That's it historically bad and all you do is change
for guys I don't know, man.

Speaker 4 (18:52):
And that's with a guy who had seventeen and a
half sacks, was second and Defensive Player of the Year voting.

Speaker 2 (18:56):
Oh, Hendrickson, now on your team, and you were still
that bad. So it's interesting.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
The range of outcomes for the Bengals is like I
can see him going to the super Bowl. I can
also see them going three and eight, and then Zach
Taylor's fired and it's like.

Speaker 2 (19:11):
Oh, we got a lot of stuff to figure out.

Speaker 3 (19:13):
Like, I don't really know what to expect from the Bengals,
but according to point spreads, they will be favored again
in Cleveland and a home against Jacksonville to start that
should that needs to be too. And oh because after
that at the Vikings, at the Broncos, Lions, Packers, those
are all really good teams. And I don't know, I
like a good tire fire. I'm sure you do as well.

(19:35):
So I wouldn't mind it if the Bengals struggled and
Zach Taylor got fired. I would feel some come up
And for that guy who who somehow is still living
off going to the Super Bowl, as if that was
all him.

Speaker 4 (19:46):
You know, this is freaking crazy.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
I do want to one other thing I want to
touch on before we get out of here.

Speaker 5 (19:54):

Speaker 3 (20:07):
Texas Monthly, a pretty well regarded outlet in Texas did
this huge story on Arch Manning, very lengthy. I highly
suggest reading it.

Speaker 2 (20:18):
I took notes.

Speaker 3 (20:19):
And the big take the biggest takeaway from everything besides
he's like a normal dude and he's cool and people
like him, blah blah blah, The biggest takeaway was very deep.

Speaker 2 (20:30):
I'm talking like second to last page. Last page.

Speaker 3 (20:33):
Arch's grandfather, Archie Manning, who played for the Saints, says
that Arch is going to stay at Texas. He's not
leaving early for the NFL. Okay, he's saying this in
an article. Presumably he gave the quote in June or July,
you know. Then the article goes to print whatever whatever
month it was, and I just I know, it's a

(20:57):
fun back and forth. Nobody knows the answer. I don't
care what he's saying. Okay, no, he knows what's gonna happen.
I mean again, we just talked range of outcomes for Bengals.
Rob let me give you this. Arch Manning goes to
the Horseshoe, beats Ohio State in the opener, They go
undefeated and win the national championship. Is Arch Manning going

(21:18):
back to school and he wins the Heisman? Hell no, what,
there's nothing left to prove. Don't give me this back
to back nonsense.

Speaker 4 (21:24):
It's dumb.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
That's a college football.

Speaker 5 (21:26):
That's dumb.

Speaker 2 (21:27):
But then il is not happening. Okay, so.

Speaker 3 (21:32):
The offensive line has here's the next one. The offensive
line has four new guys. Feldman said that when he
was on here a couple of weeks ago, they lose
to Ohous Day badly. Arch you know, rebounds against some
crap teams, but it's not an amazing season, and they
win eight games. Arch is kind of beat up behind
this offensive line. No injuries, but he's kind of beat
up and you know they win. Let's just say they

(21:54):
win eight to ten games, they don't make the playoff.
Does Arch return rob Ooh maybe I've got unfinished business.
But oh my gosh, right back my knee. But he's
getting his ass kick back there.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
I don't know. Now you hit me with this one.

Speaker 3 (22:10):
I was gonna say, let's say the Cowboys get the
number one pick and everybody loves Arch. I mean, he
wants to play for the Cowboys. He played for the Cowboys.
But you just said something fascinating. What if the Colts
are so bad they get the number one pick. There's
a world where Arch doesn't get to pick his head coach.
But hey, we're gonna blow out Stiching and we get

(22:33):
to hand pick whoever the hell we want you who
wants to work with Arch Manny who's respected?

Speaker 2 (22:37):
Nick Saban.

Speaker 3 (22:38):
I don't think that would happen, but basically, the best
of the best come on down. Does he go to
the NFL there, I don't care what the stats were
or whatever, but everybody agrees Arch he's gonna go number
one based on trades and family blah blah blah.

Speaker 4 (22:54):
Yeah, I mean I think that as much as their
season is going to dictate a lot of this and
what happens in again still picking them at upset Ohio
State even though it's what is it? They're ranked number one?
So is that taking an upset? I don't know. But
so much of this decision, if not most of it,
is going to depend on who's piggy number one. Yeah,
because if like the popular name that was leaked out

(23:17):
over the last few weeks and maybe last month or
so was the Saints. Everyone's expecting the Saints to be terrible.

Speaker 2 (23:22):
They're bad.

Speaker 4 (23:23):
I don't know if you've seen that the Tyler Shook reports. No,
that's not good. I mean they're they're calling him easily
what third string behind the immortal Spencer Rattler and a
player to be named later, Like that's how bad.

Speaker 5 (23:37):
He hold on?

Speaker 2 (23:37):
What's like?

Speaker 3 (23:38):
You, So Tyler Shook is the guy who's like twenty six,
twenty seven years old? Right?

Speaker 4 (23:42):
Correct?

Speaker 2 (23:42):
Okay, so you know that.

Speaker 3 (23:44):
This is gonna sound so nerdy, rob you you read
the Peyton Sean Payton story with Seth Wickersham, right, Yes? Okay,
So Peyton talks about a formula of negative plays that
comes up with the score for these college quarterbacks and
bow Knicks had the low WOR score than anybody. So
for fun, I kind of tinkered with chat GPT and

(24:06):
kept putting formulas in until I matched the numbers that
were in the article. So I got the formula, but
I put in Tyler Shook just to see. I put
in the quarterbacks that were in this past draft. The
lowest was Jackson Dart. I'm talking high quarterble Jackson Dart
eight point eight, which is actually better than Caleb Williams

(24:26):
score from that article. Then came cam Ward at ten
point seven, then Shadoor Sanders at eleven, and Tyler Shook
at fourteen. So to your point, if Tyler Shook is
the third stringer stinks it up, they blow, they're gonna
be in the mix of the number because we've seen
Spencer Raller, he's.

Speaker 4 (24:45):
No good, right. Yeah. So again, if it's New Orleans,
I know that the romantic thing is Archie Manning played there,
But that franchise is in a really awkward re building
phase because of their cap situation and because of their
coaching situation, like they're they might be in the least

(25:06):
desirable spot when you factor in what their current roster
is and their ability to be flexible moving forward. So
I don't think that would be the team. Jimmy Haslam
mentioned that, hey, I think arch is coming back after
two years because you know the link between the Haslms
and the Mannings with the Browns and all that stuff.
If Cleveland's picking number one, I don't think he comes out. Well, okay,

(25:26):
just because it's Cleveland. I mean, historically Cleveland does not
do a good job with quarterbacks. And then you keep
moving down the list and you're like, well, I mean,
the Giants already got their quarterback. You know, the Bears
already got their quarterback, the Falcons got their quarterback. I
don't think Carolina is a sexy enough team, And to me,

(25:46):
it really comes down to two teams. Then at that point,
one of them who I think and we agree is
going to be bad, which is Indianapolis Colts. The other
one is a team that we think is going to
be very good, but their quarterback situation has been murky
for the last two years. There seems to be some
bad blood there between the quarterback and the front office.

(26:08):
Not to mention your quarterback's thirty seven years old, Not
to mention he has a herniated disk in his back
and he hasn't practiced all off season. Who's to say?
The La Rams playing in the NFC West, and everyone
seems to love Arizona Cardinals. Everyone agrees the forty nine
has got a slaf schedule. Maybe they take a step
back because Stafford's hurt and they got to play Stetson
Bennett or whoever. And they limp their way to four

(26:32):
and thirteen, five and twelve and they got that second
first round pick. Do you think that then the Mannings say, hey,
if you can find a way to move up from
number four to number one or whatever it's gonna take,
we would love this. End Arch to La with Sean McVay.

Speaker 3 (26:48):
I just find a hard time somebody handing McVeigh arch Manning.
But it is interesting. I have a note here on
what you said. So you said if the Browns are
picking number one, he doesn't want to go there. So
this was interesting. You don't remember it because it was COVID,
But the arch Manning recruitment, it came down to Texas,
which he went to. But the other two were Alabama

(27:10):
and Georgia. I'm almost certain those are two from the article.
So you've got basically the two teams battling it out
for best in the country for several years and then Texas.
Arch's family made a strong note he committed to Texas
when they were five and seven. They were not some
juggernaut that he was stacked going to. They were an
under five hundred team when Arch committed. So does that

(27:33):
rob change the idea of he ain't going to some
dumpster fire in Cleveland. Well, wait a minute, he went
to Texas when they were in disarray. Why why not
he could be the hero, the savior to Cleveland.

Speaker 4 (27:46):
I think the reason why you wouldn't see that that
is a very good point. The reason why you wouldn't
see that happened is because we've already seen the Manning
families steer them their guys away from franchise that they
believe are not capable of molding quarterbacks?

Speaker 2 (27:58):
Was that Elion Chargers?

Speaker 4 (28:00):
Yes, sir? Interesting?

Speaker 2 (28:03):
All right? Listen. The Archimandy stuff is going to be
interesting all year.

Speaker 3 (28:06):
I would assume it will peak at some point during
the Ohio State game, and based on that result, it's
either going to go in a hyperspace or just take
a step back for a couple couple of months until
their next big game and he hopefully performs well. Anyways,
that's it for the week, a lot of NFL this weekend.
Rob be safe out there in these LA straight starting

(28:26):
to warm up out here in LA and as somebody
who doesn't have air conditioning, don't love that.

Speaker 2 (28:31):
See you Monday,
