Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Four games of this late window of Week one of
the twenty twenty twenty twenty five NFL regular season. Hit
him up and carry twenty five roads. You can find
me at Dan Byer on Fox. Mante Belanios is at
the news desk, going to be giving us all the
breaking news and all the happenings of what's going on.
Plus he's got fantasy numbers coming up at forty five
past the hour. Chris Purfetzer, technical producer and our executive
(00:27):
producer is Shay Mogar today and we have got a
lot to tackle, we really do, including a matchup of
NFC North contenders. We are on a snap count with
Micah Parsons seeing how much action he's getting for the
Packers today, a rock fight in Seattle between the Niners
and Seahawks, and another divisional showdown Texans and Rams playing
(00:49):
a low scoring affair right now in their matchup in
La And the sun is shining in Denver, but the
Broncos getting all they can handle from cam Ward and
the Titans making his debut here in the NFL in
this late window. Four games, plus the Jaguars and Panthers
wrapping things up from their delay earlier. It's great that
football's back. Dan, Oh my god.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
I don't get excited often, and it's one of the
things in my life that I'm actually seeking a little
bit of I guess fun or excitement or anticipation for
something I was really anticipating. This season, It's gonna be
a lot of fun. There's a lot of uncertainty. There
are teams that we think are above the cream of
(01:28):
the crop, but again, you don't know until the first
weeks start and people start to play and we get
to see how things play out. And so it's I'm
excited and I'm excited to be back with you in
our team.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Let's get it, man. I am curious to hear your
response on comments that Aaron Rodgers made following their win
over the Jets today as the Steelers get that thirty
four to thirty two victory. We're going to hear from
Aaron Rodgers here within the next twenty minutes or so,
because he did have some interesting comments to say, but
because this is our first show of twenty twenty five
(01:58):
Red Zone Radio, although I think we did have one
in Week eighteen of last season, that was in twenty
twenty five. But you know what I mean. Your Super
Bowl pick was for this year, for this season. The Ravens,
the Baltimore Raatemns. Okay, beating it doesn't matter, doesn't matter.
I think I had them beating the actually beating the Rams.
That's who I think they're who I had. Yes, you did,
(02:20):
And now that you say that, because I remember I
said to myself, Kerry is on this Rams. Kick again.
By the way, the Rams maybe knocking on the door,
getting down to about the six yard line, but there's
some laundry on the field. We'll see if the big
play is brought back and it is because of a
holding call. So the Texans holding on to that three
to nothing gate lead. Right now in LA, I've got
(02:42):
two teams that are playing right now in the Super Bowl. Yes,
two teams that are playing right now. You've got one
with the Rams. Uh huh, you have Let's see who's
playing right now, Yes, Titans, Broncos, Texans, Rams, Seahawks, forty
nine Ers, Lions, Packers. Okay, you've got you got the Packers.
I have the line in the NFC and I have
them losing to Denver. I like Denver. Wow. Yes, that
(03:05):
is the Super Bowl pick up. The only reason I
bring it up is because I think there's going to
be themes throughout this season on why teams are good
and why teams maybe aren't so good. And I know
I'm saying this to a former All Pro safety, but
it's upfront. I love teams that have success upfront, both
offensively offensive line defensive fronts. That's where I started. I
(03:31):
love what Denver has. I think the Lions have one
of the best offensive lines in the NFL. If Aiden
Hutchinson and crew are healthy in Detroit, I feel that
they are significant. Last year injuries just ravaged the defense
at the end, couldn't stop anything else. Needed me to
play for Detroit at one point. But that's what my
super Bowl pick was, and I picked Denver to top
(03:52):
the Lions in that Super Bowl. So I am keen on,
especially when these two teams to see how they start
out the season. Yeah, the Lions, I'm scared. I'm scared
for them.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
I think they obviously, if they are healthy, they can
score a lot of points and we know that they'll
be fun. They'll have a good record, But they lost
two coordinators. They got to learn learn some things over
and they may start a little slow in this season.
So just as far as where they'll end up, no
one knows, but I think they'll struggle out the gate here.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Is it struggling because the players are adapting to the
coordinators or it's because the coordinators are adapting to their
new roles in position.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Both because when you come in as a coordinator, you
have a style of play that you want to have
and you want those players to kind of assimilate to
that right and be on board with what you're doing.
But you got to be flexible throughout the season. You
also have to know your personnel and so you can
study all you want, but putting them in live game situations,
you won't know exactly what you have.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
And so that's why I think there's going to be
a little learning curve there. New coordinator in Seattle on
the offensive side of the ball, Clint Kubiak is in
and Sam Darnold right now for the Seahawks four of
six for forty four yards in his day. This is
what's tough, I think, And we saw it with a
couple of other matchups earlier today, specifically with the Browns
(05:07):
and Bengals and the Falcons and Buccaneers. I don't know
if you get a real sense of who you are
when you play a division opponent, and there hasn't been
like a complete overhaul of changes like things in Cleveland should.
There are maybe a few different faces here and there,
but things are the same. Bengals make a change at
defensive coordinator, but they're still the Bengals, so you kind
(05:29):
of get a sense. I think this Seahawks team with
Clint Kubiak is their offensive coordinator. He spends some time
with Kyle Shanahan. It's why he and Sam Donald are
teaming up in Seattle right now. It's tough to get
a sense, especially in week one, for who teams are,
let alone, when you play a division opponent, who I
feel knows so much about you already and now you're
(05:51):
trying to feel out all these kinks. I think it's
a tough spot for these teams playing division opponents early on. Yeah,
division opponents early on is tough.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
I mean, usually those games games you want to have
a few new wrinkles, but the season hasn't even started yet, right,
so you're kind of going to run your stuff in
a just end game, but again.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
They are tough.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
Usually the toughest team wins, and so that's why you
also see some of these scores being a little bit
lower than usual, like this Lion Packers game. The Lions
have zero points, it ten. Packers have ten, like you
expect the Lions to score. And so they know each
other so well. It's a team that's going to be
the most physical.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
He is carry Roads. I'm Dan Byer keeping you up
to date of what's happening. So far, no one's done
any damage. In fact, the Seahawks going to be punting
from their own end zone right now. In that seven
to seven ball game against San Francisco, I don't know
if it's the game of the day, but it was
a darn good one between the Jets and Steelers. Aaron
(06:46):
Rodgers in Pittsburgh going to New York, winning where he
spent the last two seasons thirty four to thirty two.
Let's just hear from the Jets. Excuse me Steelers, former Jets,
but still play Dan after beating the Jets in his
former team and what he was asked to the postgame,
here's Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 4 (07:06):
He spoke about the meeting with Alan Glenn, I'm not
a few months ago. Beating him is a significance in
that sense. He basically told you to your face that
he didn't think you were right for that team. Yes,
that's what he did, So there are significance in beating
him for you.
Speaker 5 (07:22):
I was happy to beat everybody associated with the Jets.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
Let's go Aaron Rodgers week one, say what's on your mind? Aaron?
Did you take that in a way where he was
being Obviously he was calling out the reporter saying, yes,
that happened, but you know that there's some underlying feelings. Yes.
Was he being politically correct at the end saying like,
I'm happy to beat all the Jets because we got
the win, or was he so mad at the Jets
(07:50):
because of the question that he just answered that he
wanted to beat all of the Jets because how he
felt they embarrassed him in that meeting. It's both.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
Obviously he's being politically correct, he sant thing there, you're
a Steeler. Everybody with the Jets is the enemy, right,
like you want that to be said. But also the
question right before that says was asked you know about
Aaron Glenn and Aaron Glenn made it very clear that
I don't think you're the right move for us moving forward,
and that can be layered as well. It's not an
(08:18):
indictment on him as a player. It's I have a
young team. I'm trying to mold the team in my
likeness and with you here that may be hard. And
I think that's the real part of this conversation, where
when you say I don't want you, you're not going
to not want a Hall of Fame players.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
But it's the other part of it. Rogers also was
mad though, that they did it in person, where he
flew out sense of California to New York Yeah, and
basically weren't going to listen to anything that he had
to say. So he felt like, you made me fly
six hours and three time zones just to tell me
that you don't want me anymore. And if that's really
how you felt, and you couldn't give me the respect
(08:55):
to as for not only of just what I've done
the life two years with the Jets, but really for
his entire career. I think that's what really ended up
burning him. And in the end, I think that he's trying.
He he's too smart with his words for it to
be just anything that is surface level one hundred percent.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
Yeah, we were talking about it off the air, but yeah,
that's exactly what I said as well.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
Dan.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
It's yes, it's it's a it's it's it's two shots
there right like it's yes, politically clearrect I'm going to
say the right thing, but also I'm going to take
a jab here. And that's just you know, that's part
of Aaron. He's really smart and he knows what he's saying.
When he says the words, listen to them. They mean
it's something there.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
It mean something. The Broncos had the football bo Nicks,
though fumbled recovered by Tennessee, so six forty nine to
go until halftime, still tied up at three apiece. But
the Titans are in Denver territory. This would this would
set a blaze some survivor pools this week for a
lot of stuff that has been status quo. Or remember
(09:56):
last year the first two or three weeks survivor pools
were just throwing in the trash, put on fire, uh,
thrown down the river however you want to put it.
Because of how many upsets there were, this would be
a big one today if Denver weren't able to pull
it off, and right now Tennessee is hanging as they've
got the ball in Denver territory. After that Bonnix turnover?
(10:18):
Did you have something to say about Bonix or the Broncos. Yeah,
I just think Tennessee's going to win this game. Ooh
there at market time? Mark that Shay Chris, Why would you?
Why would you say that with a guy who's making
his first you can let's put that on the board.
Speaker 3 (10:35):
Let me tell you why, Dan, Yes, because I'm not
you know this, we talked about it before, right. I'm
not a big believer in Sean Payton and what they
can do. I think Denver surprised a lot of people
last year. Bo Nicks played excellent down the stretch last year,
But that second year, people have film on you and
they understand what you want to do as a quarterback,
(10:55):
as a play caller, and so if a bow Knicks,
I kind of want to see how he's going to
operate in your first before I start to give them
the validation that they want.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
So when I told you that I had not only
the brock was in the super Bowl, but then beating
the Lions in the Super Bowl. What was going on
in your head? You're saying no way, Dan, or are
you looking at me like a wide receiver coming across
the middle and you're just about to light me up.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
I was just waiting for you to tee it up
for me, Dan. You teed it up right away. You
gave me the crossing route, and I had a bracket
on and I was coming down fool speed to knock
you out.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
This is where we are right now. Well, the Titans
are now inside the red zone and are going to
have a first and ten Tony Pollard running with some energy,
some physicality. So the Titans trying a new brand of
football with their first year quarterback. I do like Brian
Callahan in Tennessee. However, he's in a tough spot because
(11:48):
now you've put a new regime in the front office.
You've now got cam Ward as your quarterback. If it
doesn't work out well for this year, I'm sure the
front office is going on to find their guy to
make sure that cam Ward works. So a crucial start
to the season, honestly for the Tennessee Titans. And if
they were to go to Denver and win the game,
like Carry says, they would that would go a long,
long way for Brian Callahan. Lions are on the board
(12:11):
ten to three. Just kicked a field goal against the Packers,
nine to twenty seven left to go until halftime. There's
under four minutes to go until halftime. In Seattle, forty nine,
Ers and Seahawks still tied up at seven apiece. George
Kittle with the touchdown reception for San Francisco. The Seahawks
evened up on a Zach Charboney touchdown run, and then
the Rams and Texans three nothing right now Houston over
(12:35):
La in that contest with about eleven minutes to go
until halftime and the clock winding down between Jacksonville, that's
now a final. Jaguars top the Panthers twenty six to ten.
Hit carry out Bay Kerry twenty five roads. You can
find me at Dan Byer on Fox and just to
put a bow on Aaron Rodgers two hundred and forty
four yards today, four touchdown passes. Carry's gonna break down
(12:58):
one of the key plays in that Steelers Jets game.

End Zone Radio. He's carry Rhoads. I'm Dan Byer. This
is Fox Sports Radio. Four games going on in this
late window, but let's focus on one of the thrillers
that happened earlier today.
Speaker 6 (14:24):
No, it's time for the NFL on Fox Focus.
Speaker 2 (14:32):
Kenny Albert was on the call for Fox Sports as
the Buccaneers survived in Atlanta twenty three to twenty and
I guess, Kenny, I want to start out with the
new kid in town, Amecca Abuka. Two touchdown catches in
his debut. Very rarely do rookies live up to the hype.
How high was Tampa on their first round pick coming
into this game?
Speaker 8 (14:51):
Very high, guys. When we talked to players, coaches, everybody
had similar thoughts about him, just how hard he works.
He's in the building early every day. Great kid from
all accounts, and got off to a terrific start today
with the two touchdown receptions.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
Kenny, I want to talk about the Falcons.
Speaker 3 (15:08):
I'm pretty high on them, on them this year, and
I think for them to be the team they want
to be, they have to be really balanced.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
It seemed like the run kind of deserted them today.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
Is that part of their DNA moving forward, running the
ball and being balanced to win.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
Well?
Speaker 9 (15:24):
Certainly?
Speaker 8 (15:25):
And John Robinson get off to a good start today
with the fifty yard catch and run for the touchdown.
The rushing numbers were not what he would have expected.
They did get away from the run a little bit.
For Michael Pennix Junior, his fourth career start looked pretty good.
Let the eight team play drive which put the Falcons
on top. He scored the touchdown with his legs late
(15:46):
in the game, but then Tampa Bay drove downfield and
unfortunately for the Falcons who missed the forty four yard
field goal attempt that would have tied the game and
sent in it to overtime.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
And just on the heels of that, they had an
opportunity to try to tie because Tampa missed their extra
point on the touchdown that gave them the lead. Is
this first week stuff? Is this working out? Is this jitters?
Because it's divisional game? How do these miscues happen at
the end?
Speaker 8 (16:12):
Yeah, it was crazy, kind of wild and wacky with
the miss extra points and miss field goal and helped
to catch up with you guys later in the season,
but have to board the fight. They're about to close
the door, so thanks for having me on.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
Kenny is in Group A as he's about to fly out
of Atlanta. We knew that we only had a little
bit of time, and I guess what that's that's me.
I tried to steal one more. I tried to steal
one more and the gate agent says, we got to
get Kenny out of here. So he's out of town.
But so the Buccaneers with a twenty three twenty victory
over the Falcons. Yeah, this one was a tough one
(16:42):
for Atlanta. You got to win these games.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
You're at home, You're playing a team that's minus a
couple of their their stud players, and so for them
to not win this one division obviously can play a
factor down down the line. But I mean Tampa Bay
found the way to win. They've been the team that's
been winning this division and they won won another close one.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
Let's be honest, this is a huge game. Yes, when
you look at what happened with the Panthers today and
getting run out of town against Jacksonville, when you look
at what we think the Saints are now, the Saints
put up a nice effort against Arizona, but let's be real,
this game is something that the Falcons had to hold
(17:21):
serve on. Yes, you needed to win this game because
it's on your home turf, and they were unable to
do so. Yung Waiku forty four yarder absolutely makeable now
in today's NFL plus, when you're inside in a climate
controlled setting on turf, that is a very very makeable kick.
(17:42):
And as I said to Kenny, they're allowed to be
in it because of a mixed missed pat afterwards. But
you got to make those kicks. And we sit there
and say, oh, it's only week one, sixteen more games
to go, seventeen more weeks in the season. However you
want to put it, Losing this one to your division rival,
who you are likely going to compete with in the
(18:03):
NFC South, is a really big deal, one hundred percent.
Speaker 3 (18:05):
It's going to come down to these two teams. These
two teams are going to a bount out for that
battle it out for that division. And so when you
lose these games at home, games that you're supposed to win,
they come back to bite you at the end.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
For sure. Now here's the deal. I'm gonna go to
Monzy a little bit earlier just because we couldn't give
you a score recap because we had Kenny again, as
you heard, waiting at the gate for his flight. So
we went to Kenny Albert right away. But there are
four games going on right now, one in Green Bay,
one in la one in Denver, and one in Seattle
(18:38):
where Jake Moody missed a twenty seven yard field goal
for the forty nine ers could have given them the lead.
That is not the case anymore. So let's go over
to the news desk with Mancy Belanyos giving us an
update of what is happening right now in this late
window in so much more. Moncey, what's happening, Dan?
Speaker 9 (18:55):
Welcome back?
Speaker 2 (18:57):
It's going to be back. Are you jealous that I
feel like? Like, is there like any jealousy that I'm
sitting next to carry right now? No?
Speaker 10 (19:03):
No, no, we said you cheated on us with Adam
Kaplan already.
Speaker 9 (19:07):
Weeks ago, so like you cheated on us. We're still here,
but welcome back.
Speaker 10 (19:13):
And no, you know what it is when you guys,
when you're in that chair, it's hard to watch the
games even in.
Speaker 9 (19:17):
That situation, at least here I get to, like, you.
Speaker 10 (19:19):
Know, keep tabs of the games a little bit more,
keep tabs on my fantasy football teams.
Speaker 9 (19:23):
And so I'm good. But welcome back Daniel. All Right, guys,
four games going on.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
That's she's right, she's angry. There's some history, but she's
getting me back from.
Speaker 9 (19:35):
Yeah. Yeah, let's not bringing that back up. Okay.
Speaker 10 (19:38):
The Packers have scored their second touchdown of the game.
Jordan Love I believe connected with Jayden Reid on that one.
Who's on my bench? Thank you so much. Packers up
on the line. Seventeen to three, four minutes to go
in the first half. The forty nine Ers scored first
Rock Party connected with George Kittle, but the Seahawks responded
with a Zach Zach Charbonay rushing touchdown. George Kittle has
been ruled out for the rest of the game from
(19:58):
San Francisco with a hamstring injury. Down to the final
ten seconds, they are tied at seven apiece headed into halftime.
The Titans are on top of the Broncos right now,
six to three, forty seconds to go in the first half.
Bon Nicks twelve of twenty one eighty three yards and
an interception for Denver, and the Texans have added another
field goal, so they're on top of the Rams right now,
six zero with less than five.
Speaker 9 (20:20):
Minutes to go.
Speaker 10 (20:21):
In the first half, the Jaguars and the Panthers were
on a long rain delay, so this one recently wrapped up.
It was all Jaguars. They defeated the Panthers twenty six
to ten. Travis at and sixteen carries for one hundred
and forty three yards. The Colts crushed the Dolphins thirty
three to eight. Colts win in Week one for the
first time since twenty thirteen. Daniel Jones two hundred and
(20:42):
seventy two yards and I'm Never there and two rushing touchdowns.
Speaker 9 (20:46):
The Bengals survived, Survive, survived, survived seventeen to sixteen against
the Browns.
Speaker 10 (20:52):
Steelers held on thirty four to thirty two against the Jets.
Total yards for New York three hundred and ninety four
yards for Pittsburgh two hundred and seventy one yards e
Rogers two hundred and forty four yards and four touchdowns
in the air.
Speaker 9 (21:03):
DK metcalf just to.
Speaker 10 (21:04):
Kis you're wondering how he did four catches for eighty
three yards. The Buccaneers also survived against the Falcons, who
had the opportunity to tie the game on a field goal,
but they win it twenty three to twenty. Commanders outscore
the Giants twenty one to six, Cardinals top the Saints
twenty to thirteen, and the Raiders defeated the Patriots twenty
to thirteen. Ashton Kerrey and his debut nineteen carries thirty
(21:24):
eight yards and a touchdown.
Speaker 9 (21:26):
A little baseball, do you care about baseball? Just a smitch,
Just a smitch. Cal Rawly hit his home r hit
his fifty third home run of the season.
Speaker 10 (21:32):
Earlier today as the Mariners crushed the Braves eighteen to two.
Sho Heo Tani two home runs. Today, Dodgers snapped the
losing streak. They beat the Oriels five to two, Brewers
over the Pirates ten to two, Yankees edge of the
Blue Jays four.
Speaker 9 (21:45):
To three, and the Reds beat the Mets three to two.
Going on right now, in tennis at the US.
Speaker 10 (21:50):
Open Men's Final, they split their first two sets, then
Carlos Alcaraz won the third set six games to one
against Yannick Center and right now, in the fourth set,
Carlos a karaszk up five games to four.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
Who all right, a lot? There's a lot lying.
Speaker 9 (22:05):
On a lot and I couldn't added more, but I'm
gonna sub there is Carri.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
Are you on the Ashton Gent train? Are you a
big Ashton Gent fan? I gotta wait and say, okay,
all right, you need to get into the end zone
today for the Raiders. As Moncey told you, I hit
her up at Moncey belangyas there is so much going on,
I have to go to this Dolphins Colts game. I
was writing my notes, just like, write some stuff down
(22:33):
that I find interesting, and I write, Colts jump out
to seventeen nothing lead. Then I gotta change it and write,
Colts jump out to twenty to nothing lead. And I
change it. Colts jump out to twenty three nothing. Colts
jump out to thirty nothing. Thirty three to eight was
the final today with Indianapolis. There are a couple of
things that stand out and why I think that this
game is interesting. It's Mike McDaniel had the shortest odds
(22:55):
of any head coach in the National Football League on
being the first head coach to be fired in the
nfls like two to one. Oh wow. Not that expectations
were high on the Dolphins side of things, but you
couldn't start out worse against a team that you had
probably just the same feelings about as many had about
(23:16):
Miami and Indianapolis and having questions, the questions about the quarterback. Now,
I do think that Indianapolis has better personnel than Miami does.
But to see the Dolphins come out and be down
thirty to nothing, to not be able to do anything
with their offense, if you're a Dolphins fan, like I
(23:38):
don't want to say the season is over in Week one,
but the season is over in Week one. There's there's
no coming back from this. Considering the road. This was
the winnable game that you get and you say, yeah,
guess what, we can maybe do some stuff. We did
some good things, Let's carry it on. They seem completely
out of sorts. The defense we had questions about. To
(23:58):
be down thirty to Hugh to the Daniel Jones, let
Indianapolis coach, you couldn't have started out a season worse
if you're a Dolphins fan.
Speaker 3 (24:06):
I mean, in the off season, Dan, we were debating
if it was going to be the Dolphins or the Saints,
as being the worst team. And right now the Dolphins
are winning in one game in right, So that's what
we are. They have no talent on the defense, they
have disgrunold playmakers on offense. Obviously, Tyreek k Mole is
a problem right now, and he is. He is demanding
(24:27):
under his breath to be traded. He's not saying it
out loud, but under his breath, I'm sure he's on
the sideline like tram traman like that has to.
Speaker 2 (24:34):
Be going on. It looks that way.
Speaker 3 (24:36):
And so when you look at this team, they're just gruntled,
they're disjoined, and I don't see any direction of them
getting better.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
Here's my favorite thing about that is we for years
had said Tyreek Kill is a problem, meaning it in
a good way. Ye, this is yeah. You just you
can't stop him. When he was in Kansas City Chiefs, heck,
when he was in his Dolphins uniform. In the first
couple of years, Tyreek Kill was always a problem. Now
for the last season or two, Tyreek Kill has been
(25:04):
a problem. That's what it is. And here's how bad
it was for Miami. Aside from me writing what I
did with down seventeen to nothing, down twenty nothing down,
twenty three nothing down, thirty nothing. They had the ball
for just over twenty one minutes, so the Colts completely dominated.
The Colts lost pieces via free agency on the offensive line, however,
(25:28):
it is a strength of their team. And Jonathan Taylor
are good running back and I have Danny Dimes another
guy that can run, so you kind of knew what
the Colts were going to be able to do. They
committed three turnovers today, So turned the ball over three times,
you're not gonna win a lot of games. Didn't force
any by the way. They were out gained four hundred
and eighteen to two hundred and eleven in Tua in
(25:48):
a game again where you were down a majority of
the game. Tua was fourteen of twenty three for one
hundred and fourteen yards, so fourteen completions and through for
under one hundred and twenty yards.
Speaker 3 (26:02):
Yeah, that's what that says to me is a couple
of things. So you got to be better on first
and second down because obviously they're not converting third downs
to keep drive together. That's what that That's what those
stats would say to me right away. But also you're
playing against you give up thirty three points to a
Daniel Jones lad offense. And I've been on the record,
you know, talking about Daniel Jones, and I mean, obviously
(26:24):
he's an NFL capable quarterback, he's in the league, but
I think he's one of the he's a he's a
bottom tier quarterback. And for him to go out and
play the way he did in Game one with the
Colts against Miami.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
That's just a bad sign. Yeah, And I don't think
that you're I don't think you're speaking out of turneah
in any it's we would agree, like if you had
a quarterback ranking you're not getting You're getting down to
twenty eight to twenty nine, putting Daniel Jones in.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
I actually called the guy Danny two Nickels, So you know,
I you like that, don't you. I called him Danny
two Nichols because I'm tired of the Danny Dallams.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
He's not that's not him. And I said it. Nazi's
jumping up the joke. Bad joke. Carrie says, it's it's
too cool for school. Oh cool, That's exactly what it is. Hey,

on in Denver. Bonix hey Courtland Sutton for a twenty
two yard touchdown extra point was good put Denver up
ten to six at that time on the Titans. However,
to Mary dka return to kick into Denver territory on
the ensuing kickoff with just seconds remaining, that allowed the
(27:42):
Titans to run on the field and kick a field goal.
It's now ten to nine just two seconds left in
the first half, so Tennessee getting some stealing some points
at the end of the half where it looked like
the Broncos may have had momentum on that Nix to
Courtland Sutton touchdown, Seahawks kicked a field goal. They are
up on the Niners at the half ten to seven
(28:02):
in Seattle. This again after Jake Moody missed a twenty
seven yard or for San Francisco that could have given
them eight ten to seven lead at the time. Whogun
Nakua is going to go into the injury tent to
get looked at. Rams facing a second in goal against
the Texans six nothing game right now in favor of Houston,
and it's been a slow start for Matthew Stafford and
(28:25):
the Rams at one point was just six of twelve
for thirty yards. It's got it up to eight or
fourteen for seventy three yards as the Rams try to
punch it here at a second and goal in the
two yard line.
Speaker 3 (28:35):
Yeah, the Rams got to pick it up. That's my
team to make it out out of the NFC. Obviously
depending on Matthew Stafford. If he plays that way, they won't.
But I'm sure he'll get it going here in a
second half.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
Are you high on them because of the young defense
or is it solely based on of Stafford's healthy You
now have Nicoua and Devanta Adams and you have these pieces.
Why do you like the Rams so much this year?
Speaker 3 (28:57):
It is the young defense. I think they found their
identity in the second half of the season last year.
Speaker 2 (29:02):
We talked about it.
Speaker 3 (29:03):
Last year a lot they got healthy, Matthew Stafford went
on a tear and they began to play defense and
play complimentary football, and now if you take that formula
moving forward, you add DeVante Adams to that mix, who
can be another weapon as well. Obviously the health is
going to matter. Phocas are already in the injury ten.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
But they just have more talent than they had last
year as well, and luckily they don't need them right
now because they're again in a goal the goal situation.
Karen Williams got them down to about the half yard line,
so it's a third and goal. Texan's leading the Rams
six nothing, and this is a spot where Stafford's health
has to make you wonder on what they can do
with him. And he tries a quarterback sneak and doesn't
(29:40):
get in. The initial spot was that he was short,
So now it looks like it's a fourth and goal scenario.
In this case, the Rams are obviously going to go
for it. But do you risk Stafford? Do you have
him do the reach over? Do you do the just
give it to Karen Williams and your quarterback sneaking.
Speaker 3 (29:56):
I mean, if he's out there playing, he's got to
be healthy enough to do that, so I know it
it's not ideal for that guy to do it, but
you're too close, you got a quarterback sneak it or
put those packages in where you have that guy most
in that tight end a lot of teams are doing
and he takes a snap and goes ahead, So they
could also do that as well.
Speaker 2 (30:12):
What'll be interesting here, the Rams have all three of
their timeouts with a minute ago before halftime. They're gonna
let the play clock wind down, and Sean McVay, not
only that, let the game clock get to it at
least under a minute. So if they are able to
score here, Houston would have less time. The interesting thing too,
is now if you have two timeouts, if you don't
(30:32):
get it here, Houston can't necessarily run out the clock.
So if you can, worst case scenario for the Rams
carry is if you get stuck here at the half
yard line, Texans gotta take over. They got to run
seventeen seconds of game time off of the clock with
their plays to be able to make it in a halftime.
(30:53):
Otherwise they're gonna be backed up and the Rams could
have an opportunity to maybe make a special teams play.
But here we are on a fourth and go, well,
I think we're gonna see the Drew brees like reach
over the top. That seems the quick stretch for Matthew Stafford.
Oh they did a toss He's in there. That was dangerous.
Speaker 3 (31:13):
They got it done though, but then he had a
great point about the timeouts and saving them for a
possible defensive scenario. There they scored, which we don't have
to go to that. But the other reason I picked
the Rams is to go back a little bit. It's
also because the NFC I'm undecided on who those top
teams are outside of Green Bay. In my opinion, I
think they are a little bit more talented than most,
and they have a quarterback that I think will be
(31:34):
in the MVP running. But outside of that, I mean
Washington has, you know, the second year quarterback.
Speaker 2 (31:39):
He's young.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
They may be good. The Vikings have Sam Darnold. We're
not sure about him. And so I think about the
Rams and where they left off and who has the
better quarterback or most I guess been in those situations quarterback,
and it will be Matthew Stafford for men.
Speaker 2 (31:51):
So Rams are into the end zone. Carry's Rams. We
called them that last year, we'll call them them this
year that this year as well. The extra is good
so now it's a seven to six lead for the
Rams on the Texans with fifty three seconds to go
until halftime. Here's what's happening in the other three games
he told you. Broncos up on the Titans ten nine
and a half, Seahawks and forty nine ers at the
(32:12):
half as well with Seattle with that ten to seven
lead you mentioned your MVP candidate, Jordan Love twelve of sixteen,
one hundred and sixty seven yards and two touchdowns so far,
no running game. Josh Jacobs only six carries for eight
yards for the Packers, but they've got the most important
stat up seventeen to three right now. On the Lions,
Jared Goff inefficient thirteen of sixteen but for just seventy
(32:34):
five yards. I also has thrown one interception. Jamiir Gibbs
yet to get going in the running game. It's actually
David Montgomery with eight carries and twenty four yards, Gibbs
with six and twenty two Right now. If you're loving
those fantasy stats, Monzie's gonna have some fantasy hits from
earlier in the show coming up in about ten minutes
or so. I know she's not gonna say Jonathan Taylor
(32:55):
touchdowns because Daniel Jones stole all of them today. Of
course he did. My goodness, My goodness is someone who
has Jonathan Taylor in fantasy the many of us who do.
He was a solid pick. You know, the Colts may
not be in every single game this year. Now, they're
in a division where I think they can be competitive
in a bunch of games. But this was the game
where you're like, Wow, Jonathan Taylor against the Dolphins. This
(33:17):
has this has one hundred and forty yards and two
touchdowns written all over. And if we think the Dolphins
are as bad as they are, right, well they are.
They are as bad as we thought, but didn't get
into the end zone. Daniel Jones two quarterbacks sneaks today,
Danny two Nichols stole two touchdowns. You see the two Nicholls.
Now we're gonna have to say a nickel and a
penny because he got in for six. All right, he's
carry roads. I'm Dan Byer give out a line. DraftKings Sportsbook,
(33:40):
an official sports betting partner of the NFL that brings
you this show today. Coming up, Monzie's got the numbers
and we're gonna dive into a little bit more of
what we could see tonight with the Ravens and Bills. Yes,
Plus there was a game earlier today where there is
a receiver quarterback connection that maybe wasn't on targe last
year that showed progress has been made and will be
(34:04):
something to watch for for the rest of this season.
He's carry roads. I'm Dan Byer. This is end Zone
Radio on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (34:11):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (34:14):
It's end Zone Radio on Fox Sports Radio. Packers up
on the lines at the half, seventeen to three. They're
underway in the third quarter in Seattle, Niners in Seahawks territory,
but down ten to seven, and it looks like brock
Perty was just picked off, so the Seahawks forcing a
turnover up three. In that NFC West showdown, the Texans
(34:36):
kicked a field goal to retake the lead against the Rams.
So it's nine to seven. Kami Fairbairn third field goal
of the game so far for the Houston Texans. As
they're up nine to seven, and we told you the
Titans kicked a field goal right before the half. They're
within one against Denver by a score of ten to nine.
Game on Carrie. Week one starts now. Every touchdown brings
(34:57):
you closer to a payout with DraftKings Sportsbook and official
's betting partner of the NFL, and Week one is
here and tonight. What better way to sit back and
watch Sunday night football than with the Ravens and Bills.
Not only is it an opportunity for us to watch
two of the best teams in the AFC, I'm also
(35:18):
looking at revenge. So when you're sitting there on the
DraftKings Sportsbook app and you see Mark Andrews as in
any time touchdown, I'm not telling you which way to
go on this, but you would have to hope that
someone like Mark Andrews could rewrite the wrongs that he
had in the divisional playoffs where he had that fumble
and then the dropped two point conversion against Buffalo.
Speaker 3 (35:41):
So well, Dan, I'm glad you're being optimistic about it,
but that was a bigger game that he had that
drop in last time. But again that's true, I do
want him to turn a new leaf and maybe make
that play today plus.
Speaker 2 (35:52):
One eighty five right now for Mark Andrews within anytime
touchdown in tonight's game, and the other thing about that,
the weather's going to be a lot better. It's not
going to be freezing cold in January. Something to watch
where both teams they put up fifty two points in
that game previously. We'll see if they get to that
total tonight. There you go, let's do it. Take a
look at the fantasy hits and misses with Manzi Blanios.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
Fantasy hits and missus.
Speaker 2 (36:19):
What do you got, Manzi hit?
Speaker 9 (36:21):
We're going to keep things positive positive.
Speaker 10 (36:24):
So obviously the three best quarterbacks today were obviously Aaron Rodgers,
Daniel Jones.
Speaker 9 (36:31):
And Justin Fields.
Speaker 10 (36:32):
So if you played any of those three, obviously we
all did, obviously they're not on your beck.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
One of the three was definitely on my band. I
think the two others are still available to be picked
up in leaves.
Speaker 9 (36:45):
They really are.
Speaker 10 (36:46):
Aaron Rodgers had four touchdown passes he actually thirty three
points today. Daniel Jones one touchdown pass in the air,
two rushing touchdowns as Dan mentioned, taking it away from
Jonathan Taylor who's on my fantasy thirty points. And Justin
Fields also had one touchdown in the air, two rushing
touchdowns thirty points. So those are the top three quarterbacks
for today running backs Jean Robinson, but he actually got
(37:09):
twenty four points.
Speaker 9 (37:10):
Because he had six catches and one hundred yards and
a touchdown. He had twelve.
Speaker 10 (37:14):
Carries for twenty four yards, but he ended up with
twenty four points. The highest scoring running back of the
day Travis Etn seventeen carries four or seventeen points fourteen carries,
one hundred and thirty seven yards. When it comes to
wide receivers, if you played Garrett Wilson, you got twenty
two points out of that seven catches, ninety seven yards
and a touchdown. Big draw monts, yes, but you know, yes, yes,
and amecga Abuka had twenty two points. Also the rookie,
(37:38):
the rookie wide receiver four catches, sixty seven yards and
two touchdowns. So those were solid choices if they were
on your fantasy team.
Speaker 2 (37:46):
Garrett Wilson got trucked by Day.
Speaker 9 (37:48):
Yes he did, Yes, he did.
Speaker 2 (37:51):
It wasn't just a blame draft that got tackle. It
was a good play.
Speaker 9 (37:55):
That was a good tackle.
Speaker 2 (37:56):
A great game to start off the season. Ultimately, in
that game, Chris Boswell's the hero with the long field
goal to put the Steelers up thirty four to thirty two.
When it was it didn't look like they were necessarily
in field goal range and that they wanted to get
a few more yards. But instead Boswell, I was going
to bring.
Speaker 3 (38:15):
It up to you, Dan, I was like, is that
going to change with that new kicking with the new
kicking ball rule, Like they're going to take these long
long field goal attempts?
Speaker 2 (38:22):
You think moving moving forward? I think that the transformation
of the kicker and now how it's so advantageous for
the kickers in this game where fifty five yarders and
they're not automatics. But that's why young woy Kuz missed today,
was it was only from forty four yards. Boswell goes
to New York in a stadium that is kind of
known to swirl, Yes, and it hits a sixty yarder
(38:44):
to break the backs of the Jets.
Speaker 3 (38:46):
That's exactly where I was thinking too, Dann. When he
kicked it, I was like, there's no ways making this
that those swirling winds in the middlelands and he drilled
it straight down the middle.
Speaker 2 (38:54):
Yes, you mentioned Garrett Wilson having a great day for
the Jets, a former Ohio State receiver now in Arizona
Marvin Harrison Junior five catches, seventy one yards and a touchdown.
Him and Kyler Murray seemed on the same page today.
The show is sponsored by Draft Kings. Stay tuned because you'll
hear more about Draft Kings and all it has to
offer throughout the show. DraftKings, the crown is yours, and yes,
I am high on Arizona again this year. I did
(39:16):
not pick them to win the NFC West Escape today. Hey,
a win is a win on the roady. But if
it's against the Saints, Saints had a chance at the
end of tie it, but couldn't get it done. But
Kyler Murray and Marvin Harrison seem to be more in
sync than they maybe were at times last season. Ye
have definitely been intentional with that connection. He's carry roads.
I'm Dan Byer. Will tell you who's not in sync,
The Giants. That's next. Look out now here, come to
(39:39):
the Tennessee Titans. Yes, the Titans right now with the
surprise outcome, I would say of this early window, Welcer,
late window, excuse me, Welcome to End Zone Radio is
The show is sponsored by Draft Kings. Stay tuned because
you'll hear more about Draft Kings and all it has
to offer. Throughout the show DraftKings, the crowd is yours.
That the the fact that the Seahawks Niners are in
(40:00):
a tight battle. Seahawks with the lead right now, but
the forty nine Ers again in Seattle territory. Last time,
brock perty threw an interception. Now facing a third and
two from the Seahawks thirty yard line, and Christian McCaffrey
is not going to get it, so it's going to
be a fourth down into Jake Moody missed a twenty
seven yard field goal earlier in this game. We'll see
(40:21):
what Kyle Shanahan does. But that outcome right now doesn't
surprise me. The Packers with the lead on the Lions,
as Monti told you, seventeen to six. Micah Parsons man
out of the stat line, but he's making a difference
that may not surprise you. The Texans and Rams in
an interesting affair where it's nine to seven. Maybe we
thought the Rams were the better team, but we had
I had questions about the Rams. Kerry didn't. But off
(40:43):
to a slow start. We had two quarterbacks that are
trying to kind of bounce back from the years that
they maybe wish they wouldn't have had last year in CJ.
Stroud and Matthew Stafford. But it's the Titans right now
on top of the Broncos twelve to ten in what was, gosh,
one of the biggest, if not the biggest spreads of
the week. And here's Tennessee early in the third quarter
(41:05):
showing the Broncos that they came to play.
Speaker 3 (41:07):
Yeah, I mean that was the biggest bread But yeah,
I mean I picked Tennessee to win this game just
early on. I think Tennessee is going to be a
more physical team. I don't think they're a more physical
team than Denver, but they're going to put their identity
on being physical, running the ball and making it easy
for cam Ward. And right now they're in a dogfight
twelve ten, right now, up leading.
Speaker 2 (41:26):
And right now the Niners got that first down. They
went for it on fourth and too, Luke Ferrell the
six yard reception. So now it's first and ten at
the Seahawks twenty six yard line. You're seeing Brian Robinson
get some action. Obviously, Christian McCaffrey was dealing with that
calf injury that popped up in practice on Thursday, but
is playing today. Another guy that is playing is Micah
(41:47):
Parsons for Green Bay. Stat Wise, you're going to look
for me. So I don't see any tackles here. Yeah,
but he's been on the field a bunch and he's
been wreaking some havoc in the Lions backfield today for
the green Bay Pack. So one game in, in a game,
you're up eleven out of division rival and maybe your
biggest competition in that division. So far, so good for
(42:08):
green Bay and the Michael Parsons acquisition.
Speaker 3 (42:10):
Yeah, green Bay is super talented. I think we all
know that if they put it all together, they can
be a dangerous team. And to start out right now
playing a team that's been, you know, in the forefront
of that division the last couple of years. To come
out and play the way they're playing right now and
leading the game is a good time. Michael Parsons is
always going to be a terror in backfields, I think
(42:31):
for him and I think for the Green Bay moving forward.
Jared Jones made something made a comment about him being
able to not stop the run. He's going to have
to stop the run in that division, and he's going
to have to be more of a player when it
comes to that part of it. But as far as him,
you know, reacin habit, that's what he does.
Speaker 2 (42:48):
Michael Parsons is worth the forty seven million or whatever
it is a year on certain teams. Yes, is that
where you are when you're telling me about you know
what Jared he did and what he didn't do with
Michaeh Parsons.
Speaker 3 (43:04):
Yeah, we had conversations about this, you know, this deal
or this trade or whatever whatever was in the works
with him in Dallas, and Jerry Jones came out with
the comments about him being able to stop the run
and they need to stop the run. That was Dallas's
biggest pet peeve the last couple of years. They couldno
stop and run. They couldn't get guys off the field.
And a lot of times with Michael Parsons, he can
make a sack of two in the game and that
(43:25):
changes the outlook of what his stats look at look
like at the end of the year. But as far
as being super consistent and being stout against the run
and actually making those plays when it counted, it just
wasn't there for me to think that you empty out
the piggy bank for a guy like that when you're
not as well suited to win.
Speaker 2 (43:43):
Right now, here's a news flash. Social media was not
being fair to Jerry Jones and not being kind on
Thursday night. Yep, because they it kept on being pointed
out very low hanging fruit. I don't think comics would
approve of these jokes, but boy the cowboy sure could
use someone to get after the quarterback. Yeah, of course
(44:04):
you knew that those Yeah, but there was a lot
of that, and actually for people that I respect, which
I was disappointed in because Dallas is in a different spot, Dallas.
If Michaeh. Parsons is on that field, maybe they still
end up losing that game. Who knows how effective he
would have been. Apparently it looks like he's been pretty
effective considering the league efforts that he's made so far
(44:28):
for green Bay. But you didn't necessarily know he had
three extra days to prepare. He had really done much
in training camp. But the point is is green Bay's
ability or excuse me, Dallas's ability to get something off
of Michael Parsons was not going to show up on
Thursday night, so they were obviously going to be shorthanded
without him, their payoff ends up coming when they have
those first round draft picks. I thought that they could
have gotten more for him. Yeah, But in the end, ultimately,
(44:52):
how you look at this and what you see how
the Cowboys Packers thing. The Packers are obviously going to
win this trade. If Michael Parsons ends up being healthy
throughout this season because he's available, the Cowboys won't have
anything to show for it. Yes, unless Kenny Clark becomes
all world.
Speaker 3 (45:09):
It's only this season, Dan, and that's the thing, and
you just you hit it on the head. They are like,
he's in a situation now where Michaeh Parsons. You look
at him and obviously I don't think he wanted to
leave the Cowboys. Loves he loved Dallas and he loves
a lot of a lot about that situation. But he's
in a win now situation where he can go out
and wreck havoc and be and be the player that
(45:30):
he wants, because I think Green Bay is going to
be in situations where they're leading a lot in games,
and for him as a pass rusher, this is ideal.
He's going to be able to go out and try
to slack the quarterback, so it makes sense the Rams
are on the end zone. Travis Allen has got a
touchdown pass for Matthew Stafford, so LA is now up
on the Texans fourteen to nine, as the extra point
was good. In Seattle, more kicking troubles for the forty
(45:54):
nine ers. Jake Moody just had a thirty six yard
field goal blocks oh Man.
Speaker 2 (46:00):
Twenty five left to go in the third quarter, and
the Seahawks are holding on to a ten to seven lead.
If you're San Francisco here in this contest, you have
to say, oh, my goodness, are are we gonna give
this one away. They've got seventeen first downs to the
Seahawks nine. They've doubled them up in yardage, but they've
(46:20):
turned it over. They've completely dominated the clock. San Francisco's
had the ball for twenty nine of the forty two
minutes so far in this contest. Forty three minutes, San
Francisco is still down ten to seven because of the
bad party interception, the Jake Moody miss, and now the
blocked field goal off the foot of Moody. We'll see
(46:41):
if Sam Donald can get a drive for the Seahawks
to really put the Niners behind the eight ball, but
they were probably expecting a little bit more from than
what they're getting right now, down ten to seven and
having opportunity after opportunity in a game that they've dominated
in Seattle. The Packers continued to lead the Lions seventeen
to six, while the Broncos are in Titans territory just
(47:06):
inside the red zone, facing a third and one from
the Tennessee nineteen yard line, and bon Nicks in the
anti push push he just seemed to like dive under
the center's legs. They I think he got the first down. Yeah,
but it will be very very close for Denver, who's
down two to Tennessee right now, twelve to ten, was
(47:26):
six forty five left to go in the third quarter.
Speaker 3 (47:29):
Man, we just saw a traditional quarterback sneak. I didn't
think that existed anymore. That's a that's a news last.
Speaker 2 (47:36):
The Broncos had five guys or four guys to the
right of the center to make it look like it
was a power sort of run, and instead they just
take Bonnicks and put him up the middle and he
gets the first down. So Denver trying to down two
trying to get into the end zone instead of settling
just for a field goal. The Giants couldn't settle for
(47:57):
much today in a game against the Washington and Commanders.
I just have a feeling carry that we're going to
be talking a lot more about the Commanders this season
than we are the Giants. So I want to get
the Giants out of the way. Now. We'll talk about
the Giants once they transitioned to Jackson Dark. I was
about to say, that's the story, Dan, Yeah, we need
(48:19):
to put like on our show.
Speaker 3 (48:20):
We need to have like a meter, the Jackson Dart meter,
and we need to make a wager and see how
fact he's going to be the quarterback moving forward.
Speaker 2 (48:27):
I know you've already predicted that the Titans win this
game against the Broncos earlier in the show. I don't
know if you want to double up and go with
a Jackson Dart prediction on when he starts. But there's
going to come a point where that happens, and the
question is is Brian Dable going to be the head
coach or not? Considering how poorly today went lost twenty
one to six to the Commanders. And the Commanders, I'll
(48:50):
tell you what, for the questions that I had for them,
they did address their offensive line. Jeremy Tunzel was brought
in in the offseason. I did have questions about defense.
This game wasn't put away until the end. It was
a fourteen to six game. The Giants just really couldn't
couldn't do anything. And I think that's the deal with
Russell Wilson, who I know you weren't high on even
(49:12):
last year, but this is the worst type of team
for Russell Wilson to be on, because even when he
was on the Steelers last year, I couldn't make an
argument on why I felt that he was better for
the Steelers than Justin Fields was. The Giants, for as
great of some of the personnel that they have on defense,
(49:32):
just need a lot more from the offense because they
aren't overall a great team. And it goes back to
the quarterback and Russell Wilson doesn't fill any of those gaps,
doesn't fill any of the gaps at all. And I
think if you look at Pittsburgh today, where they couldn't
stop their old quarterback, Justin Fields, Aaron Rodgers filled some
of those gaps for them, and while the Jets maybe
weren't perfect and trying to close out Pittsburgh. Rogers still
(49:55):
doesn't throw an interception, throws four touchdowns. And so now
I think a lot of peop people who wanted Jackson
Dart to start in week one are gonna wonder why
he's not starting in week two or week three after
today's performance where it just seemed like the Giants, the
Giants that felt like they were playing with nine guys
on the field at times. Yeah, the Giants are.
Speaker 3 (50:15):
They're right in the mix with those those teams that
are gonna be battling for the worst records as well.
They're not dead talented offensively. And then you just said
it like you brought in a quarterback to start as
a stop gap to you know, possibly Jackson Jackson Dart,
not even possibly to Jackson Dart, and like there was
no reason he's starting, you know what I mean? Like
there's this team isn't good enough to win it, not
(50:36):
gonna be able to stop guys enough from scoring. They
only gave up twenty one points to the Commanders. That's
a game that's a winnable game for an offense, right,
But they cannot score and they don't have enough guys
that can you know, over overcome their shortcomings, and so
why not see if Jackson Dark can be that guy.
Because even if it was, in my opinion, like the
worst case scenario you need a stop gap guy, I'd
(50:57):
rather go with James Winston. At least it'll be it'll
be exciting, you know. I mean, Russell Wilson's going to
play it safe and not try to turn it over
and do those things.
Speaker 2 (51:04):
But Jamouth is going to try to win the game. Yeah,
there were opportunities where you just felt like the quarterback
needed to do something and he couldn't do that. And
again the commanders to Corey Krosky. Merritt scores in his debut,
ends up having eighty two yards on the ground. But
there's a lot of Jayden Daniels today. Brian Burns was
(51:25):
after Jayden Daniels throughout the day. So again, the Giants
have pieces on defense. I mean they do. They've got Burns,
they got Tibodeau, They've got you know, drafted Abduel Carter
first overall pick. So there are players on that defense
that can play.
Speaker 10 (51:39):
No.
Speaker 2 (51:39):
Andrew Thomas today, which does hurt the Giants. You don't
have your starting left tackle. But still even at the
times where it felt like Wilson had time to throw,
he wasn't able to do it. And so then you're
just kind of why are we delaying the inevitable here again?
I know we're gonna talk about the Commanders more and more.
We're going to be in the playoff hunt. But the
Giants stuff today was just it was a bit of
(52:00):
a head scratch.
Speaker 5 (52:01):
Dan.
Speaker 3 (52:01):
It's week one and Milik Neighbors are withy curse now
day Ball you know me like that, Yes, it's not good.
And day Ball tried to give him the hey, we
cleared it up. Let's you know, give me a high five,
and he really wasn't having it. No, And there were
shots to the sidelines of Milik Neighbors sitting on the
bench not being happy, and honestly, in some of those situations,
(52:22):
I feel that, Okay, maybe the wide receivers being a
little bit selfish here. I know, I think he speaks
for every Giants fan in watching that and why he
would be frustrated.
Speaker 2 (52:31):
So I get it. If I'm Elik Neighbors, he's carry roads.
I'm Dan Byer, He's the All Pro and started from
day one find him on ex at Carrie twenty five Roads.
You can find me at dan Byer on Fox. I
bet you Monzi didn't call you the starter from day
one throughout the summer summer, she did not. That that's
my that's my that's my own, my own nickname for
Carrie Rhoades. Don't worry. That's just a's a that's a
(52:52):
him and me thing. Manzi's gonna be with us at
the bottom of the hour, not only to give us
an update of what's happening in these games that I'm
about to tell you, but she it comes around in
thirty minutes to so to give us some fantasy numbers
those who missed today, and there were a lot of
misses in Week one of the NFL season. This is
where we stand, Rams on top of the Texans, fourteen
to nine, eight twenty eight left to go in the
(53:14):
third quarter in LA and there may be a turnover
where the Rams could be getting the football back. What
a cat. Broncos settle for a field goal. They're up
by the Titans thirteen to twelve in the third quarter.
Green Bay. They lead the Lions still seventeen to six,
while the Seahawks and Niners are now into the fourth
quarter in Seattle, Seahawks holding that ten to seven lead.
(53:34):
That is the game again has been dominated by the
San Francisco forty nine ers. He's carry Roads. I'm Dan Byer.
We'll talk about our NFL ins, Adam kaplan next here
on end Zone Radio. We've got some developments going on
in green Bay. He's Carrier Roads. I'm Dan Byer. This
is end Zone Radio on Fox Sports Radio. Packers lead
(53:55):
the Lions seventeen to six. Detroit just thought that they
had a joy and the Love interception returned back for
a touchdown. There were two defensive penalties called on Detroit.
One was an unnecessary roughness after the penalty, I believe,
but the first was a hold on the route that
allowed them to get the interception. So green Bay will
(54:15):
have the ball first and ten of seventeen to six.
Detroit's dominated this game time of possession wise, Jordan Love
almost threw back to back interceptions, had one almost picked off,
and then the second one was called back because of penalty.
But green Bay right now up seventeen to six late
in the third quarter of that contest in title Town.
Speaker 3 (54:35):
And that's always a scary thing with joined love. He's
so talented. He trust his arm in all these situations.
And those other guys are good too. He's got to
be safe with the ball.
Speaker 2 (54:43):
Ramsley the Texans fourteen to nine, Broncos up on the
Titans thirteen to twelve, two minutes to go in the
third quarter, and the Niners said, we're not going to
kick field goals anymore. We're going to just try to
keep Jake Moody off the field as much as we can.
On a fourth and two, Christian McCaffrey converts the fourth
down with the reception. Now it's a first and goal
situation at about the seven and a half yard line.
(55:04):
Right now, let's have our NFL insider you hear on
the Inside the Birds podcast and you can find on
x at Kaplan NFL Adam Kaplan bringing the Heat today
an end Zone Radio on Fox Sports Radio. Hello Adam, guys.
Speaker 11 (55:19):
Yeah, welcome to a week one of the National Football
League when there are some bizarre things going on.
Speaker 5 (55:24):
A lot of fun.
Speaker 2 (55:25):
As well, it is, and of course it's always fun
to talk about the negative. And Kerry and I were
just talking a little bit earlier about what happened in
the NFC East today with the Giants and the Commanders.
Is there any reason on why Jackson Dart isn't starting
for the Giants as well?
Speaker 11 (55:41):
They made this, They made the choice really to start
training to kick that Russell Wilson would begin the season starter.
Speaker 10 (55:47):
Now.
Speaker 11 (55:47):
I know there's a report about they put a package
of plays in for Dart. Well, you obviously it didn't happen.
But the bottom line is when they look at this,
it's just a matter of when not if. There's no
question Jackson Art will take over the starting job. Wilson
struggled today.
Speaker 5 (56:02):
I mean it was.
Speaker 11 (56:04):
You know, it's funny. I remember talking to the Steelers
about this. They felt really good about the way Russell
Wilson started the season. Last quarter or so of the
season was terrible. And that's when ironically, the guy that
they faced today, the Steelers did the Steelers really There's
some people with the Steelers wanted them to go to
Justin Fields, but Mike Tomlin said no. And my report
that I had in January is that Arthur Smith wanted
(56:27):
a bench Russell Wilson and.
Speaker 5 (56:28):
Put in Fields and he was told nope, not, We're
gonna stick with Wilson.
Speaker 3 (56:34):
I was mistake, Adam, It's grazy. I've been I said that.
He said, have stayed the started there the whole time
as well. But let's talk about that game. Let's talk
about the Steelers Jets. It was an exciting game on
me me, I did not see that carry and if
you check the over runners two it most most most
games go under week one.
Speaker 5 (56:51):
Yeah, I did not have it on my big O card.
Speaker 11 (56:53):
For sixty five sixty six points scored, I may see that.
Speaker 2 (56:56):
Let's talk about both of those guys.
Speaker 3 (56:58):
Though both guys switched, obviously, both guys played well for
their teams. Who were you most surprised about in that
game as far as the I guess the grasp of
the offense and the way that they were able to
score points both?
Speaker 11 (57:09):
I mean both because I know talking to Steelers three
quarters of training camp, Rogers was really off of timing
with metcalf firemouth, all the pass targets, and he was
so comfortable throwing dimes.
Speaker 5 (57:22):
There's no question about it.
Speaker 11 (57:23):
But what I want to talk about it with Justin
Fields is this is the best of Justin Fields, Like
if you study his career, very streaky, one good game,
free bad ones, two good ones, one bad with never
any consistency. He did all he could. Their defense collapsed.
Their defense very disappointing. Against the Steers. They had a
couple moments where they got to Rogers, but overall they
(57:44):
could not. When it mattered, Rogers brought them back. Really
just a this is a great game. Look week one
typically don't see a lot of offense. In fact, that
Jets had more first downs. Fields is good on third down,
his running was great, made some really big time throws
over the middle. Now again, because they ran the ball
so well with briset Hall, they didn't have to throw it.
(58:05):
I mean Fields only had to throw twenty two times,
but he was accurate. This this is the game of
the week. I mean, we'll see what happens tomorrow night.
And tonight's game obviously is huge with Baltimore Buffalo rematch.
Speaker 5 (58:16):
Of the playoff game. But this is a really good
NFL game.
Speaker 2 (58:19):
News just in Jake Moody made a field goal, so
the forty nine ers had to settle for a field
goal attempt after a penalty pushed them back in their
goal to goal situation. Jake Moody's field goal is good,
so they're tied up at ten in Seattle. Adam Kaplan
joining us here on End Zone Radio. He's the alpro.
Carrie Roads, I'm Dan Byer. You said most games go
under in week one? What about teams? Because the dolphinsure
(58:41):
seemed to go under. I know we didn't have high expectations.
I mentioned to Carrie earlier that what's that?
Speaker 11 (58:46):
That was a pathetic before that was embarrassing. Yeah, jug
with a friend of mine is like, all right, one,
two three, one is the watch going for Mike McDaniel
if it had not started already?
Speaker 2 (58:55):
I know, how does that happen? Like? Because I say
that with Mike McDaniel, well, having to probably know that
these sports books around the country would have him as
the shortest odds to be dismissed. How does the team
just come in? So I don't know. Flat they were
dominated in every facet to a numbers, unimpressive turnovers, yeah, yes, all.
Speaker 11 (59:18):
Right, so yeah two I had free turnovers. He got
a garbage touchdown late. They were down thirty to nothing
at one point. They were really not competitive today. I mean,
I'll just call it like it is. And their defense
was awful. They just got no pressure. Now the only
thing they did, respectively was stop the run.
Speaker 5 (59:35):
But although, of.
Speaker 11 (59:35):
Course Daniel Jones did score two touchdowns on the ground,
but I believe they scored on every drive points we're
talking about touchdowns or field goals. That's not competitive, that's embarrassing.
And look, the buzzards have been out for Mike McDaniel.
They just don't respond to him very well. Guys are
broyant offensive. Mind, there were questions around League Dan when
he got that job, how well could he connect could
(59:57):
he get his players to do what they're supposed to
the week in, week out, and that hasn't happened. I
know they've been in the playoffs. I get that, but
this team, who I'm sure most of us picked, that's
a non playoff team. I can't imagine anyone picked them
to be in the playoffs. I'm looking at my picks. No,
I had them, I had them finishing third and after
today and it's only one week, but I may have
to revise that.
Speaker 3 (01:00:17):
Adam, I told you we had that conversation. I said
they'll finish fourth in that division. They have mirrable, they
have no talent, but they also you said something and
Dan as well, Mike McDaniel came in really cool at first. Yeah,
but being cool doesn't win you the locker room. Winning
you do the locker room is the guy that's going
to demand certain things from you. You can also be cool,
but I don't see how they respect the guy. And
(01:00:38):
obviously I think the countdown is up, you know, up
in the air right now with how fast Tyreek Hill
is going to be dealt is. Is there any news
around that?
Speaker 5 (01:00:47):
No?
Speaker 11 (01:00:47):
I mean well, I mean, look, you've got he's got.
Speaker 5 (01:00:52):
An enormous contract.
Speaker 2 (01:00:53):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (01:00:53):
That's that's the challenge.
Speaker 11 (01:00:54):
She's aid. I don't know to say it's declining player.
He had injuries this week, had a lot of injuries
last year. You always wear about that. Trading for receivers
in their thirties. There are some teams, though, that are
certainly looking for receivers. The Chiefs now yep or down
Ratie Race. He's got to sit out.
Speaker 5 (01:01:08):
Five more games now worthy. He's got the bad shoulder.
He's weak to week.
Speaker 11 (01:01:14):
That's not good their pet boy. The Chiefs passed the game, guys,
I don't know if you saw. The game was terrible.
First half was abominable and the second half was better.
But overall, they don't look good again. It's only one week.
That's the thing about week one. I always say, it
can lie to you. You don't want to make any
definitive statements. The only team that I thought would be
bad looked really bad.
Speaker 5 (01:01:32):
Was the Dolphins.
Speaker 2 (01:01:33):
Yeah, I'll tell you a team that I thought looked
good today that I don't think people expected much from
the Las Vegas Raiders. In the second half against New England.
They were I don't want to say great, but they
played really good football. What can Pete Carroll do with
that team in year one after picking up that big
win today against New England.
Speaker 11 (01:01:52):
Yeah, he's calming things down. This guy's a winner. I've
had my issues in terms of the way that he
wants an offense run. But he brought in Chip Kelly
that you know what's coming. They're going to run the
football now. They I gave him credit. They were actually
pretty aggressive throwing it now. Part of is because Genty
just and Rashad Genty action. Genty scored today, but he didn't.
(01:02:12):
He didn't really do much, so they threw the football.
Bowers is huge boy the tight end. Myers had a
great Jacoby Mahers had a great game, but Michael Mayer had.
Speaker 5 (01:02:23):
A couple of big catches.
Speaker 11 (01:02:25):
I was surprised. You know, Bowers is always going to
do well. But yeah, I had admit I had the
Patriots winning this game.
Speaker 1 (01:02:31):
You know.
Speaker 11 (01:02:31):
It's funny though so many people like the over under
total over eight and a half.
Speaker 5 (01:02:35):
I did not for the Patriots.
Speaker 11 (01:02:37):
See, people were they were comparing it Dan to what
happened with Harball last year, and Mike Vrabel's going to
come in and turn things around. The roster's not very good.
I think this is what people missed with this Patriots team.
Speaker 2 (01:02:51):
There was a Drake May throwing it forty six times today?
Too much?
Speaker 5 (01:02:54):
Right, I could run it at all about it?
Speaker 3 (01:02:56):
Yeah, I mean you brought up you brought up Harball,
Adam and uh. Obviously they had a big win on
Friday against Kansas City and Herbert looked apart. I know
that there's been a lot of conversation about how good
he really is in the big opening game, a lot
of questions about can he be the guy to lead
his team to a super Bowl? Great statement win. What
(01:03:17):
do you think about that team moving forward? The Chargers, Yeah,
I was surprised.
Speaker 11 (01:03:22):
I have my issues with the chief secondary, particularly corner,
but he was on her composure, no doubt. Johnston, the
much molligne receiver, had a great game. Yes, he's a
big dude, could go get it. I give him credit.
They gave Mahomes some fits. I mean Mahomes. Look, the
bottom line is a good, good quarterback. They've got problems
(01:03:43):
at receiver, and we're talking to them. One of the
big points of emphasis for them Curry was to get
the ball down field. Well Worthy gets hurt in the
first quarter. Okay, he's got a bad shoulder. Not that
Rachie Rice is a downfield fordd He's intermediate, but they
don't have him in Hollywood.
Speaker 5 (01:03:59):
Brown.
Speaker 11 (01:03:59):
He had a great game, but under ten yards or catch.
He ten catcher for ninety nine that's not what they're
looking for. By the way, one of those catchers for
forty nine yards, right, So they got to get things
and Juju does all run very well. Jujus with Schusters,
I'm told. So you know Kelsey did. I mean, he
did have the big play. But it's only week one,
and I've seen Andy lose Week one before and turn
things around. It's only again, one game, but I was
(01:04:21):
kind of underwelling.
Speaker 5 (01:04:22):
To be honest with you.
Speaker 11 (01:04:23):
And let's face it, guys, when you look at the
way that Chase played, it was an uphill battle.
Speaker 5 (01:04:28):
They never led in the game, and that was surprising
to me.
Speaker 2 (01:04:30):
I got one looking ahead to tomorrow night, Ty Dunn's
takedown of the Bears, and he's great, done, great. Caleb
Williams was something else. How soon could it begin in
Chicago where we're hearing, especially with Ben Johnson now a
first year head coach. But how much time does Caleb
Williams have to show that he's worthy of that that?
Speaker 11 (01:04:54):
Let's you say, well, Agian's a really good backup and
case keenyams, yes, but they don't want Bajans to so
he did sign an extension. But look, this is what
I know about Ben Johnson. Someone who's worked with him
in the past told me, it's funny, Dani, you bring
this up. I said, what do you think you know?
After he got hired, he goes it will take four
months to know if it's going to work between Johnson
(01:05:14):
and actually his football team, not just the quarterback. Ben
Johnson is combustible. He coaches really hard. He coaches his
players and coaches hard. Now they from what I'm told privately,
the players will responding really well. It was hard coaching
because there was a major lack of discipline in Matti
Eberflus's staff. Eberflus had a fire coaches in season. There
(01:05:37):
there was an absolute nightmare last season. Now Caleb Williams Dan,
I think it's a wait and see. He's got enormous talent.
They've got to get him to play under control. There's
not there's he could.
Speaker 5 (01:05:48):
Pretty much do anything. That's that's how talent of the kids.
I know. People beat him up for the turnovers last.
Speaker 11 (01:05:52):
Year, which is fair, but there are also some games
where you go, wow, I mean, he's got incredible talent.
And by the way, their past target group is great.
They've free shaped their offensive line, They've threedom starters on
the interior. There's no reason why. It's all there. You
got to give you got to give their you got
to give their their front office, Ryan Poles and his
group credit.
Speaker 5 (01:06:12):
They've given him all the tools. He's just got to
play better.
Speaker 2 (01:06:14):
Yeah, And as part of that piece, maybe they've given
him too much power. Was part of what we you
could take from that piece done by Tye Dunn Anyway,
the reason I just bring it up to wrap it
up with Adam Kaplan is because it's my number one
storyline at this early part of the state is Caleb
Williams in the airs. And because if this doesn't work,
(01:06:35):
I mean in a week where we have been fired,
no no, no, absolutely not. And I don't think it's
a Ben Johnson thing. But in a week where we
are talking about generational talents, Okay, that's debatable. Remember with
the UH, I get it, But Caleb Williams was a
can't miss Lawrence, Yes, a can't miss, and it so
(01:06:56):
far seemed to have missed.
Speaker 5 (01:06:58):
But again the listen.
Speaker 11 (01:07:00):
I don't want to beat up coaches too bailely here,
but the coaching last year was terrible the Bears, I
I don't know, I know Carry, I know way too
much about what happened last year.
Speaker 5 (01:07:10):
I'm not going to keep it clean here.
Speaker 2 (01:07:11):
It was Carry.
Speaker 11 (01:07:13):
You know I as a player, okay, you got to
know how to do. You don't have to be friends
with your players. You could connect well. Nick Sirian and
Egles head coach's phenomenon in connecting. It's not friends with him.
You got to be able to reach your players, and
what happened last year in that building was an embarrassment
for football. Again, I I'm going to not tell you
what I know, and I just gave you a little hand.
It was terrible. So this is the kind of stuff
(01:07:37):
I find out. I've gotta always find I always find out.
When Dan, Dan, Dan and I have worked together here
on FSR for and I don't know four or five they.
Speaker 2 (01:07:45):
Got mad because they felt you cheated on That's right, did.
Speaker 11 (01:07:48):
This Karen and I've got to know each other when
I got when I'm when I know something, I want
you guys to know, and I want folks to understand
when you have bad coaching. And I'm not absolving Caleb Williams.
Some of it's on him. He didn't have a work hard.
He processed better. But you gotta make a hold of
guy captible for not doing the right thing.
Speaker 5 (01:08:09):
It's just just not.
Speaker 2 (01:08:09):
Good one hundred percent. Lest He's Adam Kapel on our
Fox Sports Radio NFL insider, joining us here on End
Zone Radio. Find him on Exit Kapelin NFL, see him
on the Inside of the Birds podcast, and hear him
in the same spot next week. Thanks Adam, we'll talk
to you then hard as guys, thank you, he's carry roads.
I'm Dan Byer. Let's go over to the aforementioned Manzy
Belanos keeping us up to date on what is happening
in this late window and so much more. Manzi take
(01:08:30):
it away.
Speaker 10 (01:08:31):
All right, guys, We've got four games going on, and
it seemed like the Packers are just gonna crush the Lions.
But it's been a tale of two different halves. They
just got going. In the fourth quarter. Packers are up
seventeen to six against the Lions and Green Bay has
the ball. They're in the red zone, but Lions have
had possession of the ball more than the Packers. The
third down efficiency Detroit is five of twelve, green Bay
(01:08:54):
four of eight. But like everything else, is so even.
And the score right now seventeen to six early in
the fourth. See what happens green Bay entering again the
red zone. The Rams are on top of the Texans
fourteen to nine. After three quarters Matthew Stafford fourteen of
twenty one hundred and fifty one yards and a touchdown.
Speaker 9 (01:09:10):
Seahawks and forty nine Ers are back to a tie.
Speaker 10 (01:09:13):
You know, San Francisco had that field goal blocked Seattle
and fumbled. San Francisco got the ball back. Jake Moody
made up for it actually making the next field goal.
So it's ten ten halfway through the fourth quarter, and
the Broncos are edging the Titans thirteen to twelve early
in the fourth as well, Bo Nicks twenty of thirty three,
one hundred and forty four yards a touchdown.
Speaker 9 (01:09:30):
He's also got an interception.
Speaker 10 (01:09:32):
What happened earlier today, Well, the Bengals survived seventeen to
sixteen against the Browns, and I mean survived. The Steelers
had a thirty four to thirty two win over the Jets. Yeah,
Aaron Rodgers with four touchdown passes two hundred and forty
four yards in the air. Buccaneers also survived twenty three
to twenty against the Falcons.
Speaker 9 (01:09:48):
Who had the opportunity to hit.
Speaker 10 (01:09:50):
A game time field goal missed, and then that's how
Tampa held on. In one, the Commanders outscore the Giants
twenty one to six. The Jaguars defeated the Panthers twenty
six to ten, holds all over the Dolphins thirty three
to eight. This was the first Week one win for
the colt since twenty thirteen, Kyler Murray through four hundred
and sixty three yards and two touchdowns as the Cardinals
top the Saints twenty to thirteen, and the Raiders they
(01:10:13):
get their first win for their coach, Pete Carroll, one
of the oldest coaches right now. I was like a
record today. He's eight days away from, I believe, turning
seventy four. Raiders defeated the Patriots twenty to thirteen in
that one.
Speaker 9 (01:10:25):
And Carlos alcraz did win the.
Speaker 10 (01:10:27):
US Open, defeating Yannick Center after I had spoke to
you guys earlier about an hour ago, his second US
Open title, and in his thank you speech when he
was telling everybody, he said to Janick Center, I see
you more than I see my family.
Speaker 9 (01:10:39):
And I think that's super accurate. It's such a great line.
I was. I told them earlier today that I saw
someone's tweet.
Speaker 10 (01:10:45):
It was a graphic of the final of the US Open,
and somebody tweeted was like, there has to be other
tennis players, and it's like there isn't.
Speaker 9 (01:10:52):
It's just these two. That is it. And that's all
I got for you guys. Back to you.
Speaker 2 (01:10:56):

have got four games that are gonna go down to
the wire here in this late window. Plus Monzi's got
(01:12:06):
her fantasy misses this time around, and maybe a big
turnover in Denver could carry Rhodes be no Stra Damis
find out next on end Zone Radio. Yeah, Fox Sports
End Zone Radio. He's carry Roads. I'm Dan Beyer. The
Denver Broncos if dodged one thirteen to twelve. Carrie earlier
(01:12:26):
in the show picked the Titans to upset the Broncos
in this game, and Denver muffed upunt recovered by Tennessee.
Cam Ward took a bad sack as they were in
Denver territory, and ultimately Denver gets the ball back and
now the Broncos big play. They're in Tennessee territory. Denver's
(01:12:49):
turned the ball over four times today, Yeah four times.
Speaker 3 (01:12:54):
You don't win many games like that, but there ahead
right now, and now they got the big run that
Changs flipped the field position and now I think they're
in field goal rans now, So rookie mistake by cam
and you can't take a second that situation, you gotta
get the points.
Speaker 2 (01:13:07):
So the Seahawks kicked a field goal. They had a
fourth and one at the about the twenty yard line.
The Niners have all three timeouts in a ten to
ten ball game. Mike McDonald decides to kick the field goal.
They make it. They're up thirteen to ten in a
game that's been dominated by the forty nine ers in
pretty much every facet except turnovers. Feels like the Seahawks
(01:13:31):
settling for three was a bit surprising to me in
that scenario. I thought maybe they would go for it,
try to work more clock, but they do. They didn't
make the three. So now Seattle's up three on the
Niners with three minutes to go.
Speaker 3 (01:13:42):
Yeah, I think that situational coaching. I mean inside of
this game. It's coaching in the game, coaching inside of
the game, right where San Francisco's had kicking trouble. So
to take the points there and go up by three
and play defense, trust your defense and see if Perdy
can go down and beat you, or even at worse,
Moody has to attempt another field goal. So I mean,
I understand it. In that moment, the.
Speaker 2 (01:14:02):
Rams lead the Texans fourteen to nine eleven minutes to
go in that contest, Josh Jacobs into the end zone
for the Packers. They've extended their lead against the Lions
to twenty four to six. Now as we see Brock
Perty hit Ricky Piersoll for a big gainer up the sideline,
so they're going to be in Seattle territory. We throw
it over to Manzi Bolanos with some fantasy hits and missus.
Speaker 1 (01:14:25):
Fantasy hits and the missus o I.
Speaker 2 (01:14:30):
When it's six forty nine Eastern time, you know those
are going to be missus Manzi.
Speaker 10 (01:14:34):
And I felt some of those misses in my fantasy
football team. Stan. We'll start with Joe Burrow. Not only
did he get sacked three times, and one of them
I wasn't sure if he was going to get up.
He was fourteen to twenty three for one hundred and
thirteen yards.
Speaker 9 (01:14:46):
He had a touchdown. Ten points.
Speaker 10 (01:14:49):
That is not what I was expecting for Joe Burrow
on my fantasy football team. So, no, did you play
Towatago bay LOA no bueno either. If you played any
Miami players, probably was no bueno. But we'll talk about
my law six points fourteen of twenty three four one
hundred and fourteen yards, one touchdown, and he also had
two innerceptionhits.
Speaker 2 (01:15:06):
How many interceptions?
Speaker 9 (01:15:08):
Dos?
Speaker 1 (01:15:10):
Oh?
Speaker 9 (01:15:10):
Nice?
Speaker 4 (01:15:10):
I like that? Nice?
Speaker 9 (01:15:12):
That was funny, Dan, I'll give me that one. I'll
give you that one.
Speaker 2 (01:15:15):
Bad joke, but it was good.
Speaker 9 (01:15:17):
Some of them are so funny. That's a bit more so.
That was a funny one.
Speaker 3 (01:15:20):
Oh.
Speaker 9 (01:15:20):
Great.
Speaker 10 (01:15:21):
Join running backs running backs, Maybe you played Austin Eckler
since they had a healthy scratch on their running back
committee earlier this morning. Austin Eckler six carries twenty six yards.
He also had three catches for thirty one yards, but
just gave you eight points if you had him. If
you played Tyrone Tracy of New York, he had five points,
just ten carries and twenty four yards. When it comes
to the wide receivers, did I mentioned Joe Burrow, Well, yeah,
(01:15:42):
Joe Burrow did not want to throw, apparently to Jamar Chase.
Four points if you played Jamar Chase two catches for
twenty six yards. I also did not play Terry McLaurin,
and if you played him, I feel bad for you.
Four points, two catches, twenty seven yards.
Speaker 2 (01:16:02):
Man knows Ony Quinton to those numbers they got in
their podcast.
Speaker 9 (01:16:05):
Oh not at all, not at all.
Speaker 10 (01:16:07):
And those were some of the fantasy misses from the
earlier window.
Speaker 9 (01:16:11):
There's probably gonna be some from this afternoon window. I'll
tak the window.
Speaker 2 (01:16:16):
I'll say this is speaking of missus number one. I
think that Mike McDonald made the wrong call, Like you
have to go for it. I know it's a high game,
but the forty nine ers have basically been the ones
to kick themselves, you know, shoot themselves in their own
(01:16:37):
foot throughout this game. So to think that you were
going to be able to hold them in check, yeah,
I just that wasn't gonna happen. They see, should have
gone for it and tried to score a touchdown. And
if you didn't do it, you're still trusting your defense.
So if you don't get it, you're still trusting them
in that same situation. So now the forty nine ers
have it at the two minute warning in Seattle Territory.
We'll keep you up to date of what's happening in
(01:16:57):
that thirteen to ten game. But in this thirteen twelve
game with the Broncos in Titans, there's eight minutes to go.
This is the turnover that we had talked about with
the Titans and the fumble on the muffed punt. The
Titans got the ball at the Broncos twenty four yard
(01:17:17):
line carry and ended up punting first and ten on
the twenty four You're right, cam Ward takes a sack
of sixteen yards on second and eight, so they game
two yards on the first play, and then on the
second play he was sacked for eleven yards, making it
a fourth and thirty five from the Denver forty nine.
(01:17:38):
And even though you're in Denver, you still have to punt.
Went into the end zone. Denver gets a big play
and now JK. Dobbins is into the end zone. By
the way, Denver right now should go for two. I agree,
it's a nineteen twelve ball game. Go for two right now.
If you do, you're up two scores in that scenario,
and that would be very difficult for the Titans to
(01:17:59):
come back. But the Titans messed up there with cam
wod taking the two sacks. Happens with a rookie. I
think those are some of the growing pains. Denver is
able to capitalize with their big play. Now Dobbins into
the end zone. I think they're gonna kick the extra point.
Look like Boonix was going to the sideline, so Will
Wats is on for the pat. It is good. So
Tennessee is still within one score, but seven thirty seven
(01:18:21):
left to go.
Speaker 3 (01:18:21):
In that context, yeah, those moments, you gotta you know,
it is rookie rookie mistakes and it happens and he'll
be better from it. But again, yeah, you gotta get
points out of that situation. You're down one, you get
a month punt and you're on a twenty something yard
line and you get no points, not even the field
goal attempt.
Speaker 2 (01:18:38):
That's not a good thing. This show is sponsored by DraftKings.
Stay tuned because you'll hear more about DraftKings and all
that has to offer throughout the show. DraftKings, The Crown
is yours. Now, the Niners have gotten down to about
the Seahawks ten and a half yard line. There appeared
to be some laundry on the field, but I think
they picked it up where maybe they thought it was
something else. The flag draftic graphic appeared on the screen.
(01:18:59):
So it's thirteen to But the Niners now with a
first and ten at about the Seahawks ten and a
half yard line, cx all three of their timeouts, but
the forty nine Ers technically still could get a first
down in this situation. Bronco's up twenty to twelve on
the Titans. Rams continue to leave the Texans by that
fourteen to nine score, and the Packers now up twenty
seven to six on the Lions with four minutes left
(01:19:20):
to go in Green Bay. Carry Rhodes breaks down the
play of Week one next on end Zone Radio. All Right,
we think the Packers are gonna win, but the other
three games right now still kind of hanging in the balance,
especially in Seattle. Monty told you the Niners just scored
with under two minutes to go in Seattle. Jake Tanjas
(01:19:43):
with the touchdown reception for the forty nine Ers is
brock Perdy kept a play on third and three alive,
alive and alive, threw one up for grabs in the
end zone and cashes in the Seahawks, who really haven't
been able to do anything. This game has been dominated
by the forty nine Ers. Throw out a big play
from Sam Donald to Jackson Smith and Jigba Donald by
the way top one hundred yards passing on this drive,
(01:20:07):
so it had been four quarters. There are three quarters
and almost a fourth for Donald to get up to
one hundred yards. But now the Seahawks are in the
red zone and Donald may have just been stripped of
the ball and that could do it, and that appears
to be nick Bosa is the one who has the football.
(01:20:27):
But the forty nine Ers just went into Seattle and
were able to stop a Seahawks drive on a turnover
in The forty nine Ers are going to be one
to zero to start this season if this play holds,
which I think it, I think that it will at first.
Speaker 3 (01:20:45):
Glance, Oh, yeah it does. It's an empty hand rule there.
Speaker 2 (01:20:49):
And in fact, Sam Donald actually hit the back of
Abe Lucas his right tackles back as Nick Bosa was
giving the pressure in this game. This game was dominated
by San Francisco. Threw out yeah. And if there was
an outcome that wasn't the forty nine Ers winning. I
don't think that would tell the tale of this. But
(01:21:10):
if you're a Seahawks fan, you had your opportunities. I
thought they should have gone for it on fourth and one.
They kicked the field goal and then Tarik Willen was
out of position on the ton just touchdown where it
was a heck of a play by brock Party to
keep it alive. I don't know if the throw was
great carry, but it was a heck of a play
to keep that play alive. And the Niners are gonna
(01:21:31):
leave Seattle one to Oh yeah, brock Party just threw
up hill Mary.
Speaker 3 (01:21:35):
I mean that wasn't some I mean he gave this
receiver a chance, and that's what you want as a
as a receiver to make that play. So I'm sure
he's saying, great throw. You put it in the only only,
the only place that I can make the catch. You
threw it too. But the flip side of that, the
dB was in position. He should have knocked it down
or at least intercept intercepted it, at least knocked it down.
But again, the forty nine ers made the plays they
(01:21:58):
needed to win. They left the lot of players out there.
But you know, it's Week one, seventeen thirteen. Tough loss
for Seattle.
Speaker 2 (01:22:04):
And I figured there would be somewhere in this, in
this neighborhood, this sort of game where it was a
rock fight between these two squads. It absolutely was, but
it just felt that the forty nine ers were throwing
more rocks at the Seahawks in this contest, and ultimately
San Francisco deserves to win this game and gets the
victory seventeen to thirteen. Rams and Texans are in a
tight one fourteen nine to nine right now, Houston trailing
(01:22:28):
by five, but the Texans do have the football. They're
in their own territory, but there's three thirty five to go.
Both teams have all of their timeouts. Five point game
for a Rams team that you have high expectations for
this Texans team, I think people were kind of curious
about for the simple fact he didn't have a great
offensive line last year. You end up moving Laramie Tonzel out.
(01:22:50):
How well can you protect CJ. Stroud Joe Mixon status
for this season is still up in the air, so
there were some questions. Texans haven't been great today, but
they've been hanging in with la.
Speaker 3 (01:23:00):
Yeah, both teams are, you know, a little rusty to start.
I mean there was a slow start for the Rams
as well in Stafford. He picked it up a little
bit at the end of the second quarter, second half,
but yeah, this is one of those games where I
could see a lot of rust on both teams right now.
Speaker 2 (01:23:15):
And now the Broncos and Titans are playing with five
minutes to go on the fourth quarter. Denver's got a
fourth and one on their own forty six yard line.
Make it the forty Yeah, it was the forty six
and a half yard line. I think he's short, Dan,
and they went for it. They're trying to keep my
Titans alive. You're Dan, They're trying to do Karrien. Interesting.
(01:23:36):
Carrie picked the Titans to win this game. We started
out the show and Tennessee was maybe out to a
three to nothing lead at the time. This was also
in the same breath where I told Kerry, I have
the Broncos winning the Super Bowl this year, and I
am shocked that they went for it here on fourth
down when you have cam Ward making his first career start.
(01:23:59):
I don't care if your number one overall pick whatever
to go eighty yards worst case scenario in a case
for the Broncos against their defense when you're up eight,
that's how you win a football game. I'm shocked that
the Broncos ended up going for it. We see our
new measurement and bo Nicks is short by ten inches.
Speaker 3 (01:24:24):
Dan, that's your coach, that's Sean Payton. You know he's
greedy man. You know he's gonna try to you, don't.
You did not go for that right there with what
you just said. You got a rookie quarterback who's obviously
had his struggles in this game. You gotta pass rush.
You got a defense that's really good. I know you
trust them, but make him go to distance, not over midfield.
Speaker 2 (01:24:45):
I thought they were lining up to try to draw
them off side of me too. Yeah, and I thought
that that was the case, and maybe maybe they were
trying to give that look. But now cam Ward is
just forty six yards forty seven yards to go, and
there were two point conversion away with by the way
carry five oh seven left to go a lot of time.
So this is the scenario that that decision just put
(01:25:08):
the Broncos in. The Other game going on right now
is the packers and lines. The lines are driving mc
green Bays up by twenty one. This is why this
decision Sean Payton is going to be questioned for multiple reasons.
But here's another reason why. Because if the Titans don't
score here, but let's just say they get ten yards
there's gonna be three and a half minutes left, maybe
(01:25:31):
in this contest, maybe three minutes left, and if the
Titans kick a field goal, they could get the football
back and then try to score again. So like they
could have an opportunity if you punt it away and
you're up eight with five minutes to go, more than
likely it's gonna be Tennessee's last opportunity with the football
or one of the last, and if they're going to
(01:25:53):
try to do anything with it, they're gonna have to
go a significant way because if they were to drive
down the field, I just don't think that they're going
to do it in a quick fashion. So you're taking
up a lot of time by going for it. You
also gave the opportunity that the Titans may get another possession,
and even if they don't get it here, even if
they don't get a first down here, Carrie, they could
punt it away with four minutes left, and then you
(01:26:15):
make Denver have to do something offensively. Just doesn't make
a lot of sense. Yeah, that wasn't that. That's not
a good call at all.
Speaker 3 (01:26:21):
And obviously, you when you get these fourth and one,
fourth and anti situations with an offensive coach. You know,
he wants to try to get the first down. You
know that's part of the DNA, But yeah, he's got
to be smart.
Speaker 2 (01:26:31):
So cam warred on a third down airmails Calvin Ridley.
It was close, were you saying? Were you screaming because
the safety was about to take his head off or
because you thought that the pass was going to be complete? No,
he missed him.
Speaker 3 (01:26:44):
If it was a good ball there, he had a
chance to get a big play there. So it was
a little bit hot, a little bit hard, and it
looks like that's kind of what cam has been doing
right now. He's a little bit he's trying to force
it in. He's pressing a little bit, but it's got
to calm down.
Speaker 2 (01:26:58):
You're amped up, yeah, right, And you also are like,
I don't want to leave Kevin Ridley hung out to
dry with that safety there, So you want to get
it there quick enough. And if you took anything off
of it, maybe you feel that safety comes over and
makes that play. Threading the needle, i think is the
term that we would all use that cam Ward tried
to do and just got too far out ahead of it.
(01:27:18):
So the Titans are gonna punt. Denver's going to start
now first, Intend at their own six yard line, up
eight four h nine to go. In that contest, the
Lions are there is a review going on right now
for a possible touchdown catch. But again they were down
twenty seven to six in this contest against Green Bay.
And as for the Texans and Rams, that contest is
(01:27:41):
at the two minute warning. Texans down five, fourteen to nine,
but they have the football right now at the Rams
forty one yard line. That's where we stand. With the

presets in the iHeart app, so it will always pop
up at the top of your screen. So the Lions
review continues. Fifty five seconds left in that game, twenty
seven to six. Packers on top of Detroit. The Titans,
in that eight point deficit that they have in Denver
(01:28:24):
have two timeouts, so Denver, you get a couple of
first downs, you're in decent in a decent shape. However, JK.
Dobbins just got a first down on the first play
to give him a little breathing room. But maybe it
would be better to be second and one and then
you have more plays. I'll tell you who's great at that.
(01:28:45):
It's the Kansas City Chiefs. They're not gonna get eleven,
they're gonna get nine, so then they can run more
time off the clock in another play. Then they'll get
the first down in a short yardage play and be
able to convert. But Denver did get at least out
of the shadows of their own goalposts and now have
a little bit more room after first down play. From
Bo Knicks to JK. Dobbins, you liked Tennessee just because
(01:29:06):
you didn't like Denver, And as a decision like that
from Sean Payton, one of the reasons why you don't
like Denver's and that's it.
Speaker 3 (01:29:13):
Don't I don't trust I don't trust Sean Payton in
those moments. For me, he's won games. Obviously, he's a
good coach. I'm not taking away. Yeah, but the team
he had in those prime years with Drew Brees and
the Saints. I thought they should have won more. I
think his decision making as an offensive coordinator and the
head coach together combined influences influences.
Speaker 2 (01:29:34):
His decisions a lot.
Speaker 3 (01:29:35):
And so you see the situation like that where he
just did it right now, where it's fourth and one.
You know, as an offense, you want to keep the
drive going, but as a team, what's better for our team?
I think sometimes those situations come into play for him,
and also with Bo Knicks. I mean that defense is great,
that passports is great. I think they're going to be
obviously big, big time all year for them, but I
(01:29:56):
have to see some more from Bo Nicks. And right
now he's what twenty two for thirty six, four hundred
and fifty yard the two interceptions. That's against the Titans,
where you know, most people thought that they would come
in and blow this tame out.
Speaker 2 (01:30:05):
So it's this questions for me.
Speaker 6 (01:30:07):
Now.
Speaker 2 (01:30:07):
A big play just happened in Los Angeles. The Rams
were on top of the Texans, fourteen to nine of
the Texans were driving.
Speaker 5 (01:30:12):
Dara A.
Speaker 2 (01:30:13):
Gumbalwale actually caught a pass from CJ. Stroud to take
him deeper into Rams territory. Texans needing a touchdown, but
they had a first and ten at the twenty five
yard line. However, on the next play, Stroud hits a
goombalwalle and the ball was punched out and the Rams
have recovered the fumble. So now the Rams will take
(01:30:35):
over in their own territory inside the twenty yard line.
But a great punch of the football by the Rams
defense they forced the turnover. Houston does have all three timeouts,
so the Rams will need to get a first down
otherwise they'll punt it back to Houston. However, Houston in
a five point game carry needs to score a touchdown.
Speaker 3 (01:30:53):
A field goal does them no good. That's a great
play by the defender knocking the ball out. Obviously, big
time play.
Speaker 2 (01:30:59):
He had a chance to punch it out a lot
of times.
Speaker 3 (01:31:02):
You got to wrap that guy up, but he was
already in confines and you try to knock it out,
punch it out, which they which they did, and Rams
get a first down.
Speaker 2 (01:31:10):
This game would be over. The touchdown in Detroit was good.
So it's now a twenty seven to thirteen lead by
the Packers on top of Detroit in a game that
has been dominated by Green Bay pretty much from start
to finish. This has been all in it entirely packers
slanted contest, and even when Jordan Love tried to give
(01:31:31):
it away with a couple of turnovers, Yeah, the Lions
couldn't even get that right with penalties that ended up
giving the ball back to Green Bay in those situations.
Speaker 3 (01:31:41):
Yeah, the Lions I'm scared for. You know, I've said
it already in the show. I just it's gonna take
a little time for them to I think jail and
with play caller new play callers on both sides, it's
gonna take some time.
Speaker 2 (01:31:52):
Isaac Tesla, the big name preseason wide receiver for the Lions,
ended up catching that touch down from Jared Goff in
that contest. I know the fantasy fans, I don't know
who scored for Detroit and it was not I'm underus
Saint bron or Samba Porta or Jamison Williams who got
that new deal. Now the Rams got a penalty, ten
(01:32:13):
yard holding penalty backs them up. So it's first and
twenty now, and so this changes things obviously, because he
can't just hand the ball off to Karen Williams every
time and get the first down they did on the
first time around. At any point, if you are Sean mcvagh,
do you put it in Matthew Stafford's hands if you
have a third and reasonable or do you just make
(01:32:35):
the Texans use their timeout and play defense? A great question.
I was just getting on one and hit coach. That's
an offensive guy for being aggressive. But Matthew Stafford has
been proven to be able to make the play. So
if it's third and three, four, I could see them
taking a chance with him passing the ball to try
(01:32:56):
to get the first down. I think that they would
as well. Yeah, here's the reason why I think that
they would. Time isn't of the essence. Necessarily, the Texans
have to score a touchdown. They haven't done that today.
They're nine points our courtesy of three Creamy fairbairn Field goals.
(01:33:16):
So even if you're Sean mcvah and on that side,
you'd love for the Texans to have all their timeouts
and the clock to run out. But I think there's
enough confidence in your defense to say, all right, if
we want to run a play here, which is now
third and eight, here we go. Yeah, third and eight.
I wouldn't doubt you throw the ball, you get the
first down, you win. It's a momentum getter. If you
(01:33:37):
don't do it. Yeah, they have one time out, but
it isn't necessarily about the Texans getting into the end zone,
something that they haven't been able to do all year.
I think it's more about just the Rams ending up
getting that stop on defense.
Speaker 3 (01:33:50):
I think they'll definitely pass here. I mean also doesn't
mean you have to get the first down either. You
can pass and throw a safe pass and keep the
clock running as well. So I would see them being aggressive,
but it looked like a run information here.
Speaker 2 (01:34:02):
Well, I think they're gonna throw it to Pooka Nakula.
That's just my guess. There you go. And for those
wondering how the Pooka Nakula DeVante Adams scenario is going
to play out today, Poka Nakula with a huge third
down and eight catch. I and Demiko Ryans has no hair,
(01:34:22):
but he'd be pulling it out if he if he did,
is just oh my goodness, little play action boot and Dan,
did you see that design?
Speaker 3 (01:34:31):
He motioned Pooka in to go inside like he's gonna
block the running back the linebacker there. That's just a mismatch.
That's that's game that's game plan stuff right there.
Speaker 2 (01:34:40):
Well, I'm curious to speaking if it's anything similar to
what the Steelers did today in their contest against the Jets,
Aaron Rodgers throwing four touchdowns in a play to my
amateur eye and his professional eye, that looked somewhat similar,
maybe not necessarily exact. We'll get a breakdown of that.
So the Rams are gonna put that one on ice.
Converting the third down pass from Matthew Stafford to Pooka
(01:35:02):
and Tokua. And now it's only with the Broncos and Titans,
and now we've got a penalty. It was third down
stop to Dan against the Titans. This you don't hate
Sean Payton. This is nothing parsonal to Sean Payton. It's
just that Carrie maybe doesn't like some of the decisions
that Peyton makes as a head coach, and that the
(01:35:25):
Titans have had these errors when Carrie picked him two
and a half hours ago here on the show.
Speaker 3 (01:35:31):
They're just trying to lose it, Dan, I mean to
get the third down stop here, third and long. They
tackle him in bounds and instead of just stopping with
the whistle, the guy takes him down and slammed him
into the ground.
Speaker 2 (01:35:42):
Like it's just you can't do that, And that's a veteran.
Is Jeffrey Simmons, who's the leader of your defensive line shoving?
He shoved his own teammate and that therefore made the
Broncos player fall to the ground. And now the Titans
don't have any timeouts Denver can't run the lot, but
they can take a lot of time off of the
(01:36:03):
clock here and plus they're going to have it in
their own territory. Kirk Martin was the one that ended
up stopping making the play, but then Simmons pushed Martin
and that ended up causing the personal foul. So the
Rams get the fourteen to nine win over the Texans,
we told you, The Niners get that big turnover at
the end to stop Seattle seventeen to thirteen, and the
(01:36:24):
Packers victorious today over the Detroit Lions. Final score from
Green Bay twenty seven to thirteen, Packers one to oh
Lions zero to one. In Micah Parson's debut, all that's
left to decide is what happens in Denver with the
Titans having no more timeouts in down eight in Denver
with the football. He is Kerry Roads. I'm Dan Byer.
This is End Zone Radio. Here on Fox Sports Radio,
(01:36:46):
Wellever Week one MVP is coming up at the end
of the show. But next Carrie breaks down Aaron Rodgers'
day and specifically what makes Rogers so special and why
he did it when they needed it the most. That's
next here on Foxports Radio. Ends on radio on Fox
Sports Radio. He's the all Pro Carry Roads. I'm Dan Byer,
(01:37:07):
and the Broncos have made another head scratching decision on
a fourth and eight. On a fourth and eight, after
with five minutes to go going forward on fourth and
one on their own forty six yard line, they went
forth on the Tennessee thirty six yard line. You would
have been in range for Will Lutts, but instead of
(01:37:30):
kicking the field goal or even punting it, which I
wouldn't have hated. I would have hated that, Carrie Denver
decides to go for it and then Bo Nix ends
up throwing throwing a ball up for grabs on a
post route and post corner. It looked like or something,
(01:37:52):
I don't know. The ball was up in the air
for about ten seconds and the receiver could not run
under it. It was overthrown. And now the Titans take
over the ball with fifty nine seconds left, no timeouts,
but at their own thirty six yard line, down eight.
Speaker 3 (01:38:05):
And those those are the two reasons why I don't
think Denver is the team that a lot of people
think they are. Sean Payton's decisions, and again we gotta
wait and see who bo Nix is in year two.
In that situation, the press is on, they run, They
run two costs and routes by the two receivers. They
both calls the one that's open, he doesn't throw too
he throws it up to the other guy that's covered.
(01:38:27):
And now you give, you know, Tennessee another chance, even
though this game's probably over, Nick, still you have a chance.
Speaker 2 (01:38:32):
Now, threw it up to Marvin Mims on that on
that play, and Mims could not run under it. So
now Tennessee's got the football. It's second down and ten
Calvin Eardley with a drop on what would have given
them the football in Denver territory. So now it's third
down and ten fifty one seconds left to go, as
(01:38:54):
Cam Wored just continues to throw it up the seams
on that left side, and I think was looking for
a kwon whoa on that and it falls in complete.
So now it's fourth down and ten. They may live
to see another day, but I don't am just the
long run, Dan, the last run. It does not look
(01:39:15):
pretty here. It is fourth and ten. This could be
the game. And if it's the game, we're gonna go
to Manzi. Mancy's gonna tell us all the scores and
everything that happened, and then Carrie's gonna give us fast
times at Carry Rhodes. If they get the first down,
We're gonna keep following this Titans drive as it's the
only game left in the ballpark. It and now and
(01:39:38):
now it looked like some thought the play was dead.
It ends up being dead. Cam Ward is pressured, the
ball falls incomplete, and Sean Payton in the Broncos ro
winner twenty to twelve. If Bonnicks takes the knee, who knows.
They may throw it three times even up eight to
(01:39:59):
Tennessee having no but they they survive. I'm telling you
they trust their defense. But you can't make these decisions
no like this against you can't do it against teams
like this. I don't mind, like if you're like, hey,
we're in Kansas City, we're gonna you know, we're not
holding anything back, but don't play with your food. When
it comes to these contests.
Speaker 3 (01:40:21):
Teams like this, you're supposed to win your favorite, you're
supposed to win these games, and the fact that you
have to resort to some of these things is just
shouldn't happen?
Speaker 2 (01:40:30):
Oh, shouldn't happen? In this game of Choose your Own Adventure?
We have now chosen because the Broncos end up getting
the twenty to twelve win. We now turn the page
fourteen and go to Monzy Belanios at the news desk, Manci,
are you old enough to remember Choose your Own Adventure books?
Speaker 9 (01:40:45):
Yes? Oh yes, Oh.
Speaker 10 (01:40:48):
Those were fun. Yes, those were a good time. I
think goosebumps at one point turned to that. It didn't
start that way, but then it was like, oh, which
way do you want to go?
Speaker 9 (01:40:56):
And then you would go to the page.
Speaker 2 (01:40:57):
Yes, so much to the room, turn to page twenty six.
If car go to Baits twenty.
Speaker 10 (01:41:04):
Two, then would you go to twenty eight just to
see You're like, no, I actually want to go to
twenty page twenty two, But I want to see what
happens to you page twenty eight.
Speaker 2 (01:41:11):
Yes, absolutely, the honor system was violated by many. Oh
all the.
Speaker 9 (01:41:14):
Time, all the time. Oh, now I want to read
a book like that.
Speaker 10 (01:41:17):
Okay, guys, The final game of the afternoon, not the
late window, but the middle window, let's say, is over,
as you guys just mentioned, the Broncos and the Titans.
Speaker 9 (01:41:25):
Broncos win at twenty to twelve.
Speaker 10 (01:41:27):
Cam Ward his first NFL game of the regular season
twelve to twenty eight, one hundred and twelve yards, was
sacked six times.
Speaker 9 (01:41:34):
That's rough.
Speaker 10 (01:41:35):
Bo Nicks twenty five forty four one hundred and seventy
six yards, one touchdown in two interceptions in this one. Obviously,
the big game of the night will be kicking off
in a little under an hour. Ravens and Bill's kickoff
is at eight twenty Eastern time.
Speaker 9 (01:41:49):
All the other games that have wrapped up.
Speaker 10 (01:41:50):
The Packers cruise passed the Lions twenty seven to thirteen.
Speaker 9 (01:41:54):
Really easy for them from the very beginning.
Speaker 10 (01:41:56):
Michael Parsons did get his first sack as a Packer,
and it was reported earlier today by Jay Glazer that
the Eagles offered at least two first round picks, a
third round pick, a fifth round pick, among other things
to the Cowboys for Michael Parsons.
Speaker 2 (01:42:11):
Well, I'm glad they didn't give.
Speaker 9 (01:42:12):
It to them, and they didn't give it to them.
Speaker 2 (01:42:14):
They just it was just one Super Bowl.
Speaker 10 (01:42:15):
Yeah, exactly, exactly, but that was reported by Jay Laser
earlier today. Jordan Love one hundred and eighty eight yards
and two touchdowns in the air forty nine ers top
the Seahawks seventeen thirteen. Brock Party twenty six of thirty five,
two hundred and seventy seven yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions.
Christian McCaffrey obviously, injuries are a big part of it,
(01:42:36):
but he had twenty two carries sixty nine yards. He
also had nine catches and seventy three yards. So that's
what Christian McCaffrey did out there today. Rams with the
fourteen to nine win over the Texans, Jaguars defeated the
Panthers twenty six to ten. Colts crushed the Dolphins thirty
three to eight. Colts first Week one win since twenty thirteen.
Daniel Jones did it all a touchdown in the air,
(01:42:57):
two rushing touchdowns. Bengal survived seventeen sixteen against the Browns.
Joe Flacco definitely outplayed Joe Burrow. You could argue thirty
one and forty five two hundred and ninety yards, one touchdown,
two interceptions in that one Joe Flacco fourteen of twenty
three just one hundred and thirteen yards and a touchdown.
Steelers held on thirty four to thirty two against the Jets.
Buccaneers survived twenty three to twenty against the Falcons. Atlanta
(01:43:18):
had a chance to tie the game with the field goal,
missed it. That's how Tampa wins it. Commanders outscored the
Giants twenty one to six. Russell Wilson for.
Speaker 9 (01:43:26):
New York seventeen of thirty seven one hundred and sixty
eight yards.
Speaker 10 (01:43:28):
By the way, ESPN has a story that they asked
Brian Dable after the game if he was, you know,
committing on Russell Wilson being the starting quarterback for week two.
Speaker 9 (01:43:36):
He was non committal about that, that they're going to
go look at tape and see what they needed to do.
Speaker 10 (01:43:40):
Cardinals top the Saints twenty to thirteen. Raiders defeated the
Patriots twenty Is that right? Both of them were twenty
to thirteen, Yes they were.
Speaker 9 (01:43:47):
Did I have a typo?
Speaker 8 (01:43:48):
No?
Speaker 9 (01:43:48):
Was I think twenty to thirteen?
Speaker 10 (01:43:49):
Sometimes you wonder if you write a typo. Baseball Scores
Mariners crushed the Braves eighteen to two. Cal Rawly with
his fifty third home run of the season. Dodgers snapped
their five game losing streak five to two over the
or over the Oriels, Red's top the Mets three to two.
Yankees beat the Blue Jays four to three. New York
is now two games back of Toronto for the Division.
Rangers over the Astros four two. Texas is one and
(01:44:10):
a half games back of the Mariners for the final
Waldcart spot in the Al. Padres outscored the Rockies eight
to one, so both La and San Diego won today.
Giants and Reds are four games back of the final
Waldcart spot in the National League behind the Mets. And lastly,
Carlos Alkraz won his second US Open title today defeating
Yannick Center.
Speaker 2 (01:44:28):
Did the Savannah Bananas win last night?
Speaker 10 (01:44:30):
Or they did because Trevor Hoffman came out And that's right,
carry you should look confused, exactly, that is correct. Yes,
it was awesome. Savanna bananas at Petco Park. I've never
seen it. I recommend it for everybody. But they were
down ninth inning and they're like, oh, bananas are bringing
out their closer, and here comes Trevor Hoffman jogging out,
(01:44:52):
throws a couple of you know, forty miles per hour pitches.
Speaker 9 (01:44:55):
Hey, and they win it.
Speaker 10 (01:44:57):
It was a lot of fun. Highly recommend. I don't
know if I need to do it again, but it
was a lot of fun, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:45:02):
Manzi points out. And some people may not know. It's
not like they play a nine inning game. It's done
in a two hour windows.
Speaker 9 (01:45:07):
They do a timer.
Speaker 10 (01:45:08):
Literally, they say okay, let's start the timer, and then
you see the timer two hours.
Speaker 9 (01:45:12):
That is it, whether it's nine innings or it ends
in six innings.
Speaker 10 (01:45:14):
Wow, it is a two hour timer. And they keep
doing all kinds of crazy things. They did, like a
blindfolded pillow fight with these four guys and each guy
represented a city. Uh huh, so the blindfolded there was
La San Diego, Sacramento, and San Francisco. And when the
things started, the San Diego guy took his blindfold off
and they all started beating the guy with the La
and then the chant was beat la oh. And this
(01:45:39):
is still happening while the game's going on, by the way,
Like it's not like they stopped the game and did this. No, No,
the game is still going on, and then they're doing
this on the side.
Speaker 2 (01:45:46):
They're catering to the home fans exactly.
Speaker 9 (01:45:48):
They really were, they really were.
Speaker 2 (01:45:50):
That would make me visibly sick.
Speaker 10 (01:45:52):
Oh no, you would have been sick carry the minute
you sit down. It's like all of the karaoke music
and like piano bar music. Imagine for two hours and
everyone's singing.
Speaker 2 (01:46:02):
I'll tell you what you may and you may have
enjoyed what I did last night. Kerrie Hoke right there, Sam,
Sam and from Mary MC. I was at the Rose
Bowl for Oasis last night and it was two hours. Jealous,
that was two plus hours of just banger after. It
was great. It was it was it was. It was
(01:46:23):
so awesome, Like I wanted to go again tonight. When
I find out the tour dates, I'm like, it's opening
weekend in the NFL Sunday Night football. We got to
make sure to go to the Saturday show. So we
went to the Saturday show and it was yeah, so
you're doing that night's good two two and a half
hour window. Things work out well, yeah, absolutely, and then
mine flew by just like, oh my gosh, we're done
(01:46:44):
all right? Please play more, Please play more. Hit Manzi
up at Manzi Belanos find carry at Carrie twenty five roads.
You can find me at dan Byer on Fox. Shay
Mogan Guard is our executive producer. Iowa Sam a technical producer.
Now is the time for Carrie Yes to get in
the film room break it down. It's time four Kay.
Speaker 6 (01:47:06):
Huge hit carry row last times when Carrie rods all right?
Speaker 2 (01:47:10):
This was the situation as carry breaks down, one of
the key plays each week in the NFL. Here's how
it sounded on the Steelers radio network. With Pittsburgh down
twenty six to twenty four to the Jets. Second down
and seven, They've got the ball on the Jets nineteen
yard line early in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 8 (01:47:27):
Rogers under center play action pass rolling to his right,
fires off the.
Speaker 7 (01:47:31):
Back foot town In Austin, touchdown.
Speaker 1 (01:47:33):
Pittsburgh Steelers.
Speaker 5 (01:47:35):
The play action pass, he gets Austin.
Speaker 12 (01:47:38):
In the right portion of the end zone for the
touchdown pass fourth of the day for Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 2 (01:47:44):
Now it wasn't ultimately the go ahead score because the
Jets came back and scored again, and it was Chris
Boswell's sixty yard deal goal that won it for Pittsburgh. However,
touchdown pass number four, as you just heard, how did
Aaron Rodgers get this done today against the Jets?
Speaker 3 (01:47:59):
It's crazy, man. All they did was they brought Austin
down and reduced splits here. They motioned them down to
check and see if the Jets were in man and
man coverage. They see that, they see that the guy
that was goding Austin comes down, so yes, they're in
man and man coverage. So it should be everything should
be taken in the count right like they should have
their man's and eyes should be focused on their work.
Speaker 2 (01:48:20):
And for the Jets, eyes weren't focused on the work.
Speaker 3 (01:48:24):
You had Brendan Stevens come down to take his man,
but instead of keeping his eyes on the man, he
looks back in the backfield he can trying to see
if he can steal one. Let his man run right
by him. Austin went over the top. Aaron Rodgers got
a little time with the playfake and threw it over
the top for an easy touchdown for the Steelers to
take the lead here up from the Jets and big,
(01:48:44):
big momentum thing, big momentum play for the Steelers here.
Speaker 2 (01:48:47):
Now, is this a play that the Steelers set up
throughout the game? Is just that sort of play where
Stevens would think that they were going short? Why did
he bite on that sort of move?
Speaker 3 (01:48:57):
Yeah, it's this bad technique by Brendan Stevens. I mean,
I don't know if they ran that play earlier, but
that is a good possibility that they came down to
check and see what the defense would be in. But
again this should be taken into account. That's his man.
He goes in the backfield. A lot of ocs now
are bringing those receivers in those reduced splits to try
to get matchups on linebackers. The Jets were in the
(01:49:19):
best possible situation here with the corner on the receiver
with emotion eyes in the backfield. Bad technique and Brendan
Stevens had a bad game all game kind of you know,
adds on to a bad day here for Brendan Stevens.
Speaker 2 (01:49:31):
He also probably should have been called for another pass
interference later in that game and call it on him.
Here's the other thing on this play from my amateur eye,
and I'm curious on your point. And I'm able to
pause this video. And I know this is an audio medium,
but the point is is Rogers hasn't even completed his
playfake to Jalen Warren, and Brandon Stevens already realizes that
(01:49:54):
he's toast and he's eight yards away from Austin on
this like Austin has just crossed the line of scrimmage,
and Stevens, you can see, is putting on the brakes, saying, oh,
I'm gonna get beaten. This is even before Rogers has
handed the football off.
Speaker 3 (01:50:09):
And it's it's bad football, it's bad technique. All Brendan
Stevens has to do is look at his man. He's
not even like a safety here where you have a
tight end that's in the box that you have to
read your keys and look through him. He literally has
his man in motion. He goes down. You stay there
second and seven. If he runs a little choice route,
that's fine, but you can't get beat over the top.
Speaker 2 (01:50:31):
So and I will also say this that while this
may not have been all Aaron Rodgers, Rogers was feeling
pressure on the boot and immediately new to throw it.
Throw it to Austin. Does it look like the underneath
guy was covered? But he didn't have a lot of
time to make that decision. And then he ends up
throwing his at the dime for his fourth touchdown of
(01:50:51):
the year. Yeah, bad football by the Jets.
Speaker 3 (01:50:53):
There after an overall really good day of defense, and
it's just team play by the Jets. But in that situation,
Brandon Stevens did not focus have his eyes focus on
the work. Always remember that as a player, keep your
eyes on your work and keep your responsibilities of responsibility
and don't try to make out the plays he tried
to got beat over the top for the winning touchdown, well,
the go ahead touchdown in this case, bad loss for
(01:51:15):
the Jets, even though they played well.
Speaker 2 (01:51:17):
Good win for the Steelers. Here Fast Times at Carry

here in the States. They played Chicago one night, played
in New York Planet MeTL Life Stadium for two nights,
(01:52:01):
and then they were at the Rose Bowl last night,
which I went to, and there there again tonight and
then there Yeah, did they sound like the records? Then? Yeah, sound, Yes,
That's that's what it's all about. It's all about the
songs and it's all about the sound. Yep. I was
just you know, telling you and Monci during the break.
For those that don't know, Liam just stands behind the
mic and sings. He's not running around the stage and
(01:52:21):
it's his thing. And Noel stands there and plays the
guitar and it's just awesome. Eighty thousand people singing along
to the songs in Champagne Supernova. But you wouldn't hear
on the podcast, but you heard here is the finale
of the finale. It's the finale of the encore and
fireworks are going off and it's a yeah, it's a
it's a great show. And two hours and fifteen minutes,
(01:52:44):
boom boom boom boom boom boom boom does hit out
the hit. Yeah. I'm sure they could have played for
three There were you know, a bunch of songs that
they didn't play that you're like, oh, I wish they
would have. But they've had a set set list throughout
the tour. But it was just great. Yeah, great times
last night. Tonight should be great times because the Race
and Bills are playing on Sunday Night Football. Before we
get to our Week one MVPs put together by the
(01:53:06):
one and only Ricky Herrera. Does this season seem to
you that if the NFL had a team to pick
to win the Super Bowl, they'd want it to be
the Buffalo Bills.
Speaker 3 (01:53:16):
It does seem that way. It does, And you know,
I'm not I'm a big fan. I do like the Bills.
I like what they're about, I like how they how
they play, in their style of play, and their coach
I love. I love their coach, which we've talked about before.
It seems that way, but I'm gonna say hold up,
because my pick is obviously, we talked about it.
Speaker 2 (01:53:34):
The Ray Ravens. Yes, tonight's game should be should be
a great contest between two teams who played a great
game last year in the divisional playoffs, and when they
do seem to meet up, it's it's usually pretty entertaining.
And tonight we'll see the reigning MVP going up against
the two time MVP as Josh Allen takes on Lamar Jackson.
(01:53:56):
I got that sense with hard knocks and just done
how soft hard knocks us and the Bills being the
team because there previously was a criteria of the NFL
setting up who would get hard knocks because nobody wanted it,
and they were like, okay, well you fell into you
have to be it for them to give it to
the Bills. I'm sure there had to be some stipulations
to say this isn't included, that isn't included? Is it
(01:54:18):
really really soft hard knocks? And that's why I get
the sense as well, got it.
Speaker 3 (01:54:22):
Yeah, I didn't hear much about it at all, so
so it must have been really soft.
Speaker 2 (01:54:26):
You know what you're gonna hear right now? I think
I do. Are Week one MVPs. You know, what common is.

Broncos Radio Network. The most valuable play you for everybody
is Fox Football Sunday.
Speaker 2 (01:58:02):
Week one wasn't as shocking as it was a year ago,
but there were still some things that surprise you, and
I guess the thing that just quickly surprised me is
that the Bengals again are having a tough time getting
out of the starting blocks. They won in Cleveland today,
but Andre Schmid missed two kicks for the Browns extra
point and a field goal that could have essentially tied
(01:58:23):
the game or put them ahead, and Joe Burrow off
and Jamar Chase. So even when they play in the preseason,
the Bengals aren't getting off on the right foot.
Speaker 3 (01:58:30):
I think the biggest surprise for me, The biggest takeaway
is that Steelers debts games. Obviously I'm not a homer here,
I'm just and the way that both teams operated offensively.
I thought it would be a lower scoring game. I
thought defenses would be the main factor in his game.
But both offenses came out and put up points. And
I think we can see a little bit more of
that moving forward.
Speaker 2 (01:58:48):
Right when I thought the Steelers were maybe now too
old on defense, Cam Hayward got digged up a little.
He got the money that he wanted, and who knows,
TJ Watt got this new contract. You're wondering how the
age is going to be. Like, you know, Jayleen Ramsey's
got some miles on him. Jalen Ramsey makes the play
to end the game in jarring the breakup pass of
Garrett Wilson that could have helped the Jets. So Steelers
(01:59:10):
want to know Aaron Rodgers four touchdown, four Kerry Roads.
