Speaker 2 (00:04):
Well, good morning, good morning, good morning.

Speaker 3 (00:06):
Welcome fellas with Jeff Schwartz on Anthony Gargano and uh
we kick off.

Speaker 4 (00:11):
A football weekend.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Some big college games, full NFL slate.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Oh yeah, lots of great stuff.

Speaker 3 (00:20):

(00:42):
Good morning, sir.

Speaker 4 (00:43):
Glad to be back with you. DraftKings and Fortune. Took
someone money last night on Rutgers plus three, but we'll
get it back today. It was a good start, a good, good,
good couple of nights watching ball and Jordi week four,
man of of the College of Wills. And it's funny. Look,
I'm on the East Coast. You're on the East Coast,
and these morning shows are fairly easy for us to do.

(01:04):
But you stay up at night. Sometimes for me it's like,
oh boy, and last night, you know, you go to bed,
game is tied. You wake up in the morning you
check the scores. Oh boy, here we go again. Right,
never easy, never easy, But we'll be back fireing today.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
Don't worry, you'll be fired some good stuff today, A
lot of good games is today just a quick menu.
Texas Tech and Utah is the big newon kickoff on Fox.
I love this Texas Tech team. They're a blest You
got Auburn in Oklahoma, Michigan at Nebraska. I do the

(01:42):
met Rule podcast, House Rules, and this is a big one.
I know, I know, Coach Rule is fired up over
this one. Florida, Miami, Illinois, Indiana. Some interesting games taking
you to eleven Eastern Uh back on Fox USC Michigan State.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
So we got.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
A full full day of college football before we turned
to page in the NFL. So let's dive into the
college football Jeff and kind of uh we I missed
you last week in a big way. Uh As you know,
we were looking at some of the some of the
big you know, some of the stuff that was happening
last week and arch mannic struggled and all kinds of

(02:28):
storylines from college football.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
I was at a game actually last Saturday. I went
to Northwestern Oregon in the Northwestern Temps Stadium. It was
the oddest thing I've ever done in ever game I've
ever been to in my life. There was a twelve
thousand seat stadium that they're you know, on the on
the lake there on campus. The soccer stay in they
turned to football stadium. It was but it was weird.

(02:51):
It was an odd environment. Oregon out with a win,
but uh it was uh, you know, at least I was.
I was at a game. So, uh, look is a
big weekend to sort of see some of where these
teams are, especially in the Big twelve, right with a
couple of big big twelve games, says some early as
you mentioned big ten actions.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
So, uh, where do you want to start? Who do
we start with today? Well, let's start.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
Let's start with last week just so you kind of
put a bet on you put it, put a bow
on yeah, last week because it's just not good?

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Is that? Where is that what we want to get
to right right away?

Speaker 5 (03:27):
Well?

Speaker 2 (03:27):
I well we're gonna go well, I mean not good yet.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
I mean I you know, Arnie was on me last
week about Arch and like you got to give the
kid time and you gotta get you just can't bury
the kid.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
This early.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
I mean, you know, and I know we struggle, and
I know the booze were out, but it's a big
story man.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
The young quarterbacks you know that come in and we
kind of take it for granted that they're going to
come in and not miss a beat and sometimes that
they need more growth.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
Yeah, you know. So the thing about Arcs that is
a little bit disappointed more anything else is the fundamentals
are not there right now. And for a guy who's
playing quarterback as long as he has, that's the biggest concern.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
The feeder bad. The feeder bad. There's no way around it.
The feeder bad right now.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
And you know, the the arm angles aren't great. No,
there are still throws he makes where he gets back
in the pocket, hits hits his drop, you know, nine
and a half yard, steps up and throws throws the ball.
There was some some play action passes and whatnot where
they sort of forced him to throw the ball quickly.
But it's just the problem for me is the mechanics

(04:38):
first and foremost, and a quarterback doesn't look very comfortable.
And while it is fair to say that he could
the switch could flip immediately and he becomes a good quarterback.
It's it's it could be that simple, right, like just
all of a sudden, like it, it just becomes better.
He locks in, he focuses in, his mechanics are bad,

(05:00):
it becomes good. But we we don't we just don't
see a history of this though. Like you, I'm not
saying you're great young, but there are flashes of wow.
Now there were a couple last year, right right, But

(05:21):
but you you sort of know early on if a guy,
in my opinion, if a guy has it in their
second year basically starting now, of course it's not a
second year started, but he starts some games last season,
so I will give him the grace that he's just
a new time starter. A lot of pressure on him.
But we sort of know if a guy, I think

(05:44):
if he's a superstar early or not once again past
their you know, their basically first year in college. I
don't really a true freshmen, I don't whatever. I don't
really care how you play. You're gonna play. You're gonna
have ups and downs, you know, but think about one
quarterback playing today really and that's and that's Price Underwood
right for for Michigan. You watch him play true freshman

(06:06):
eighteen years old, and you're like, oh, oh oh.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
He's got he's got whatever it is he hasn't you know?

Speaker 4 (06:12):
That's in this thing with art, just like I'm just
not seeing whenever that it is right now and again,
full I will grant you that he has only started
what now five games and think in his career. But
he's supposed to be special. That's what we were told,
right and I just don't see it right now now again.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
I have seen the tape, have you seen because I
haven't watched. I watched. I watched, Yah, I watched. I'll
give him shot. I like.

Speaker 4 (06:40):
I like JT. O. Sullivan a quarterback school. He does
a really good job of breaking down films. I learned
a lot from him about quarterback play. But you can
see them. You don't have to be a rocket scientist
to see the bad footwork.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
I mean, I'm well, no that that I that I
saw last week. I didn't see him last the two
weeks ago. I didn't see the game last week. I
know we struggled. It was even two weeks ago.

Speaker 4 (07:03):
So I had Texas against San Jose State. I took
them whatever my thirty five, and there was a four
minute stretch where they scored all their points. They scored
twenty eight points like four minutes because UTEP uh not
UTEP said that they couldn't stop turning the bowl over
and you thought, I found that game, Oh okay, like
it's going it's happening, and it just did. Now a

(07:26):
couple of caveats here. One is the offense line of
Texas not very good right now and for years it
had been a really a great part of the program.
Now that they have four new starters, but just it's
just not it's just not as good right now. And
when you watch them play, it's very glaring. I mean,
UTIP UTEP isn't good enough, but they they out played

(07:48):
Texas's Like if you took like UTEP's talent Texas talent,
you sort of just decided who had who played to
the best of their talent in that game. You tip
played pretty darn well on defense they put it and
that again, so it's all that's concerning because it didn't
only it should text off its line is not great
to have weapons Stark and guys are open, like Sark

(08:09):
can still call a game. I think that's that's a
you know, an offense struggles. We blame the play car.
Sometimes it's fine. It doesn't look like a look at
like a bad offense and does not be executed very well.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
Right now, Yeah, and I guess so I the footwork
makes perfect like that leaps off the screen to me.
And two weeks ago again I didn't see last week,
but two weeks ago you could see struggling. Right in
some of the highlights, I saw he was struggling. But
I do like to watch the tape just to see it,

(08:40):
you know, and see where he needs work. Now, I
you know, obviously he gets the best coaching, the whole thing.
I just can't bury the kid this soon into his career. Now, yeah,
I mean flashes and you know you're not wrong. You'll
see it with other freshmen. I saw it last year
with Dylan Reyola. Like you saw a couple of flights

(09:02):
he went out. Okay, Well this is the window into
what he's gonna look like in in a couple of years.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
So I don't I don't.

Speaker 4 (09:10):
Rola like against a good team today, take some more shots.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
Yeah, well they did. They did.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
They've done it now. They didn't play anybody the last
two weeks. Right the first week they didn't to me
that the first week. They just didn't. I was on
them in that game. I was on whatever it was
sex or whatever. They were fairbye.

Speaker 4 (09:27):
They just didn't like throw the ball downfield at all.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
I hope they throw the ball down field today. Yeah,
And they did it again.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
It wasn't against top flight opponents the last couple of weeks.
Then they won big both times. But they're working on
they were working on stuff and they did it. And
uh yeah, Dana Holgerson, Uh, I think will let him
loose a little bit, Okay, And I think you need
to against this Michigan team, you're gonna be you're gonna
need to make plays down the field because they're so

(09:54):
good up there, and they're so good up front.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
You're you're gonna have to try to make some plays
in the back.

Speaker 4 (09:59):
Oh yeah, So you know when I so when when
I watched Texas play again, I I just don't see
a confident offenses from from the from the personal perspective,
I think it's a confident offense. From the play caller perspective.
I see confident play calls from Sark. They're just not
being executed and the arches not taking shots he's turning

(10:23):
down opportunities like that. That to me is what I
see is the problem. So I'm curious to see is that.
You know, I think I think it's Georgia next week, right, buddy,
I think Georgia. I it's gonna be bad if at
Georgia too, I believe if I mean they're off this week, right,
I think, I believe I haven't seen anything about this week.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
I've met there. Off.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
They got to figure some things out what to do
with Georgia. Georgia a lot, a ton of points in Tennessee.
I get that they might not be as good on
defense they've been.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
The next week is Georgia Alabama. Georgie Alabama. I'm sorry,
Georgia Texas is two weeks.

Speaker 4 (10:56):
After that, I believe, right it's it's it's it's closer
in October. So but I am concerned about Texas concerning
the expectations we have on them for the season. Can
Ar should prove yes, But you know, your best your
fastball should be early in the season, right, Like, that's
when you've been the healthiest, you've been preparing all off

(11:17):
season for this. Did not have your fastball this early
as a player of these expectations. That's the concerning part,
you know. And so I I don't know if it's
gonna be fixed.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
I'm I don't know, man, I don't have high hopes.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
I can't I can't tell. I can't say that right now.
I'm sorry, I can't do it. Uh, next week the
right Florida.

Speaker 4 (11:41):
Florida, that's what it is. Okay, So dead program by
next week?

Speaker 2 (11:45):
Right Langway, my god, speaking of the struggles. Uh. And
then they got Oklahoma.

Speaker 4 (11:52):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
And that's the eleventh of October. That's the Red River rivalry.
That's gonna be. That's gonna be a tough game, man,
all of the sudden. Oklahoma's put it together.

Speaker 4 (12:03):
Oklahoma schedule, by the way, they their conference schedule, they
have nine eight conference games. Still they have eight right
opponents in a row. Yeah, which is insane.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Well, we'll learn about it.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
But look at Texas, man, you go at Florida home,
Oklahoma at Kentucky. Kentucky's a tough place to play. At
Mississippi State home against Vanderbilt. Then there's your Georgia game
on November fifteenth, what's that late?

Speaker 2 (12:33):
That late? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (12:34):
Home Arkansas and then home A and M dude, there's
a lot of ls there if this thing doesn't get
turned around.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
Yeah, but look, their defense is really good.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
It's like you said, this offense needs to get rolling
against that schedule and and you know, maybe they know
Florida again, So Florida Miami today.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
Florida just needs like a push off the cliff man.

Speaker 4 (12:58):
They're they're pretty close the folding up here, and so
you know it could happen pretty quickly, and you play
a dead Florida team, you know, and then I give
you opportunity to just to get get an easy win
there for for a team that's gonna find their coach
out of a job pretty soon. I think Mark Crystabal
today will help Ford to make an easy decision for themselves.
That's gonna be a rough one. And then look, you

(13:20):
start trying to stocking wins off a bye and you
try to make the best you can of it. But
I just want to see just better footwork. That's it.
Like I think Archie he's got the tools that they're
all there. You gotta start with just being comfortable in
the pocket.

Speaker 6 (13:34):
Man.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
It starts.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
It's that simple, yeah, yeah, yeah, And then a real
quick a couple of other things from late this week
was wild. I mean, how about the Texas A and M.
Notre Dame game was just incredible.

Speaker 4 (13:51):
It was a wonderful game. A and M had not
won a road game like that in ten years. Huge
win for them. You know the end of that game,
all see they dropped the pat. This is the holder
does poor kid? Was just shown on camera like fifty
times two.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
It's somebody, isn't somebody?

Speaker 4 (14:10):
In the NFL, they never show the kicker basically like
warming up. And then in college football just like in
everyone's face. He they day must have shown that that
that Tennessee kicker a thousand times before the actual kick
took place on TV at the cameras in his face.
And then look last play of the game. You think
you have them. It's it's fourth and fifteen, fourth and
goal like fifty yeah, and then and then they just

(14:32):
made a great play that the blocking tight end catches
the ball. Look throwed up, have to make a play.
Notre Dame zero to two. Now with a loss at
Miami by three points, a loss by one point to
A and M, their defense clearly struggling. Without Al Golden there,
Notre Dame hosting Prude is one of my best bets.

(14:53):
I think Notre Dame just takes out all their frustrations
on Produe, who's just not good enough honestly to compete
with Notre Dame over over sixty minutes. But the Irish
are It's fascinating to me because of the discussion now
about you know, they're gonna have ten straight games they
should win, and what happens at ten and two and

(15:14):
what do we do with Notre Dame.

Speaker 3 (15:16):
Well, right, if you're gonna, if you're gonna, if you
can get if you can reel off to ten straight,
you got they gotta make it.

Speaker 2 (15:22):
I think so too. Yeah, you know, because.

Speaker 3 (15:26):
Especially you're gonna have two losses by four points.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
I mean, you know, I if you win ten in
a row, you gotta make it. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (15:34):
I think it depends. It also depends I think obviously
in the rest of the of the country. You know,
like right now as we stand, you're looking at at
you know, the three big ten teams we know of
right are in You're you're probably gonna get in uh
four sec teams now, you know, so now you're at seven,
there's gonna be I'll tell you what I've been on

(15:56):
Nebraska to be a playoff team. Winning today would obviously
help that cause very much. So you know there'll be
a fourth pick. So eight eight of those right right
now you're looking at at Miami, uh, maybe Florida State
and the ACC and then one big twelve team like
no name is right there. Like there's just there's not
enough teams to be in. So I know people are

(16:18):
gonna like it, but that's the truth of it. And
it starts today. Look, they're gonna get probably range USC
in a couple of weeks, and it's ended up being
more like five weeks. You know, Arkansas if they win
today at Memphis that they're a good team, they play
them next week, like there's opportunities for them to play
some better teams.

Speaker 3 (16:35):
You're down, Well, that's the beauty of the playoff is
that you know you're not buried after even after losing
two heartbreaker games. I mean normally, normally you you would
in in yester world, our world of college football, you're done,
your season is over, and it's you know, if we
have the leagues haven't even turned yet, you know, I

(16:58):
mean that's so now these teams obviously have the opportunity
to continue to to to show what they can do
and build on that.

Speaker 2 (17:05):
I do think.

Speaker 4 (17:06):
I think our name today just just takes all the
frustrations out on Purdue. I mean that to open up
with you know, Miami and then A and m with
a new quarterback who cars played well obviously.

Speaker 2 (17:20):
Today it's gonna be like a blood.

Speaker 3 (17:22):
Well you can see it too, because your Freeman speeches
is an easy one. His messaging is an easy one.
Like listen, boys, all right now. It begins like this
is our journey. Our journey is to win ten in
a row. And you can't win ten in a row
in one week. Yes, it begins each week and we

(17:45):
have we are uber focused each week on our opponent
and doing everything we need to do. And it begins
with Purdue. I mean it's I mean, that's what you do.
It's very easy messages. But I also think it's gonna
be nice for them to just place the one they
could push around a little.

Speaker 2 (17:59):
Bit while they will be right, they will.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
The other game from last weekday we got to talk
about it was Georgia Tennessee, which was an awesome, unbelievable game,
My god, great game.

Speaker 6 (18:12):
So I ad this to me, is is a great
like heart of a champion game where Georgia gets down
early and you know, for years we've heard it's true, right,
Tennessee has heard for years like you can't score in Georgia.

Speaker 4 (18:26):
They can't score in Georgia, and they haven't been and
they come out they hit a home run after home
run after home run. Georgia's on the road with Gunnar
Stockton and they could just claw.

Speaker 3 (18:37):
Man.

Speaker 4 (18:37):
They clawed their way back and they make enough plays
and they do enough and they end up with an
overtime win. Obviously there was a missed field goal, but
that's that's part of the sport.

Speaker 2 (18:49):
Part's all part of the sport.

Speaker 4 (18:51):
And I the reason why I'll just tell you personally
why I liked this result is because Oregon goes to
Penn State next weekend, and I it penses off a buye.
Must be nice to have a to have a buye
and a home game while the visitor has to travel
three thousand miles. That's a really it's a really good

(19:11):
scheduling coirk that got there. Good for them, and uh, well,
I'm just anything. It's just honestly, like Organ's got to
travel all that way and they get to stay at home.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
You know, to have a top five.

Speaker 4 (19:23):
Matchup this weekend, it's just got to be great to
be Penn State in that situation. Ah, you are hope,
jef hope they don't lose. I'm just I mean, do
you agree, Like I would love if I was Organ,
I would love to have a buye before I host
a top five team.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
You can't cry about it. It would be awesome.

Speaker 4 (19:42):
I'm just jealous that we have our that's because we
have our weight, our dinner bet. Hopefully Franklin doesn't lose.
That'd be embarrassing and uh would be of all that
rest and time were prepared and you let a little
Organ come in to town and win.

Speaker 2 (20:00):
Saying black quack.

Speaker 4 (20:02):
But I do actually think that the same Penn State's
gonna come out and score early.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
Like put a pin in it because we got to
take a break. But I do want to just Georgia
vulnerable around the edges is interesting too, So there's lots
to go over. There's a lot of pros man. I knows,
I believe me. I'm in the land of the Philly Dogs.
I know where all the Georgia players come to the

(20:30):
Eagles which I love. Uh Where the Fellas, Jeff Schwartz,
Anthony Gargano, uh man A lot to get over a

Speaker 2 (22:31):
Shame.

Speaker 4 (22:32):
It would be a shame if you guys, if you
guys lost stuff off a pie like that at home, geez,
that it would be a little embarrassing.

Speaker 2 (22:39):
I know you got that tough argain.

Speaker 3 (22:41):
States, I'm not gonna I just I mean they stink, Yeah,
I mean, I don't know. I watched Penn State, you know,
struggle with Corgins Villanova. I hope we can just score
fifty two?

Speaker 2 (22:54):
Is hard?

Speaker 4 (22:56):
Uh? That game, by the way, so I had, I took,
I had State minus the forty.

Speaker 3 (23:03):
Game. Kid.

Speaker 4 (23:05):
It was unbelievable to watch the end of the game.
So you know, I again, I I don't mind taking
these big home favorites in these in these tune up
games essentially, like I just they cover a lot of them,
and James Franklin is a master covering these games like he.
If coaches tell you they don't know the number, they're lying.
James Franklin makes his makes his boosters a lot of
money that in these games. And it's fifty now. Pensley

(23:30):
had had a pick six, it's fifty two nothing, So
I got a little bit lucky there as the game
was winding down and uh, Villanova is driving the length
of the fields. Fourth and three now, final play the
game essentially at the three yard line, they get a
delay a game I think, or a fall start to move.

Speaker 2 (23:44):
It to fourth and eight. But now it's fourth and eight.

Speaker 4 (23:46):
Fourth and eight now, and they have the most backyard
football play as you can imagine quarterbacks running over the place.
He's running to his right, he's at the sideline. He
throws the ball back across his body. The Villanova player
makes a one handed catch. The catch was ridiculous, unbelievable.
And my favorite part too is I saw a video
of of of James Franklin on the sideline of the

(24:10):
final play the game. He was not happy about it.
That's great, but yeah, I had Penn State. You know,
I'm yeah, I'm Drew Allery looks really good this year,
so I'm a little concerned. Yeah he does. I mean, listen,
he's got receivers. They had the receivers last year. He's
got receivers and he's got backs. But let's see, they

(24:30):
didn't play anybody, so well, I like them too.

Speaker 2 (24:34):
You gotta see what they look like.

Speaker 4 (24:36):
They have a tough opponent this week and they have
the first release. Yeah, not to be fair, Oregon. I mean,
we played Oklahoma State, who lost to Tulsa last night,
so yeah, they stink. Mike Gundy is not long for
the shame man, Like you.

Speaker 3 (24:49):
Know, you want to talk about the the nil world
and not adapting. Man, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (24:58):
I just you know, it can be a really good
job there, it feels like, and he just spent all
off Senson fighting with his boosters. Didn't seem as engaged
as a coach needs to be for that job. I
think that's actually not a bad Big twelve job.

Speaker 2 (25:11):
I agree, I agree, it is a good gig.

Speaker 3 (25:15):
All right, let's look at today, my man, uh so,
again big new kickoff Texas Tech and yeah, great game
is a great game.

Speaker 2 (25:23):
I love this Texas Tech team.

Speaker 3 (25:25):
Man, I gotta tell you. I think they got speed.
I think their defense is good. Uh there there is
I like him a ton I liked quarterback.

Speaker 4 (25:39):
So they've also played nobody, right, It's important to note,
all right, they played Oregon State.

Speaker 2 (25:45):
Yeah who who?

Speaker 4 (25:46):
You don't get Oregon is a thirty five point favorite
against Oregon State today, So right there, tex Text not
but but they taking here of business offensive They've been
really good offensively. So here's a couple of things about
this game that I think important to note here. First
of all, Utah has not lost a game like this
at home in forever. The they it's a very nationally

(26:10):
underrated home atmosphere. It's a this is a very very
hard game for Texas. They're just just generally speaking right
like it is. It is a hard place to play.
The musk is loud now it is ten am local time.
But again, they're they're not a crowd that's liquored up anyways,
you know. So it's not like a crowd that needs
to need a night game to be into it, right,
And it's it's Utah, so they're gonna be into it.

(26:32):
Tex Tech obviously hasn't played this environment in a long time.
Their quarterback has not been as good on the road
is at home, which is a factor for a lot. Yeah,
Morton has not been as part of it spinning. He
has not been as always healthy. He's a little healthier
this season, right.

Speaker 2 (26:50):
I mean that that was that was his issue.

Speaker 4 (26:52):
Yeah, yeah, and so uh, those are things to consider
as we sort of talk about this game.

Speaker 2 (26:59):
Tech Tech offense sively.

Speaker 4 (27:02):
I I don't like the reliance all the time on
the deep shots. They hit hit a bunch of orgy,
hit a budgets everyone, but it does wear me a
little bit, Like I think you would want to have
a little bit more reliance and more of a balance offense,
especially when you play a team that is really good now.
But con certain for Utah is is this. I have
covered this team for years on Unpack Towel Radio. My

(27:24):
co host on that show is a Utah Ute. It's
like my second my second team. I've watched them for
years now. They still cannot generate explosive past places.

Speaker 2 (27:37):
It's a problem. And when you.

Speaker 4 (27:39):
Play Texas Tech, when you play a team that can
potentially score. You have to generate explosive plays in the
past game and Utah just doesn't do that yet.

Speaker 2 (27:51):
Now can they do it? Yes?

Speaker 4 (27:53):
Will they do it today? I don't know, but those
are my concerns.

Speaker 3 (27:57):
For boy, you got Dams here and again I like
dual threat, great athlete, but your your points right, like this,
this Texas Tech defense is not like before. It's good.
It's a good group, so they can get stops. It's

(28:18):
you know, it's gonna be about to me, it's all
about the Utah defense.

Speaker 4 (28:22):
And can they just because they're gonna have to clamp down?
I think I like, I mean, Utah's defense is always
was they're calling. I think they're gonna be fine defensively,
my Mike Mike Constra, but.

Speaker 2 (28:32):
My parties are gonna have to win it. No, yes,
and no.

Speaker 4 (28:37):
I mean, look, Utah with Dan Pierre is gonna bring
a dynamic run game that tex Tech hasn't seen yet.
And also I'm like this, No, it's a very important note.
Utah's offense lines one of the best in the country.
I don't think people pay attention to Utah football coin
like I do, and like like you do, like they
have two tackles going in the first round, Lomu and

(28:58):
and and fin like it's to legitimate offensive line. So
they'll always run the football this year. If you still
have to stop the run, obviously, can you tak take
advantage in the play actual pass game? Dan Pierre's ability
to run the football, we haven't. You know, Tech has
not seen a quarterback like that who can run the
football yet this season. So for both teams, you know,
and it's gonna be a different experience, you know, playing

(29:20):
a better team, which always I think can be a
shock early in the game. Who stands at the best.
But the road atmosphere in Utah is a concern for
me if you, if you're a Tech fan like you
just have to mitigate that early and not let them
get involved in the game.

Speaker 2 (29:35):
Agreed, Utah three and a half point favorite. I got
nothing for this one. Man, I'm staying far away. I don't.

Speaker 4 (29:43):
I just don't have a take, like a take on
who's going to cover this game, No idea. Man, it
could be a Utah touchdown win Tech Tech could implode
and playing on the road and it could be bad.
You talk a generate notes supposed to plays and Tech wins.
I don't, I don't have I got nothing.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
On this one.

Speaker 3 (30:04):
Then, all right, three thirty Auburn Oklahoma.

Speaker 2 (30:10):
Yeah, great game. It is a great game. Uh.

Speaker 3 (30:14):
You know we saw Oklahoma look dominant last week against Temple.
But you know, listen, I mean you know they're they've
been you know, they beat Michigan. Yeah, and it was
a it was a thorough win by Oklahoma.

Speaker 4 (30:31):
Is it still is? Number still seven? I haven't looked
this morning. I probably should six and a half. It
was Bauck six and a half.

Speaker 3 (30:37):
So yeah, I kind of like Alburn, I just think
the game is close game. I think it's a field
goal game.

Speaker 4 (30:41):
Yeah, I think at this number, you look, you look
toward Auburn. So a couple of things that I like
to look at is obviously the trenches, right and Oklahoma's
an an interior. You know, it just hasn't been as
good this year. And I worry about the matchup against Auburn.
Here with Auburn's defensive line. I worry that the offense

(31:04):
for Oklahoma is to John Mattier like or like like,
if John Mattier is not playing, if John Mattier doesn't
do everything for the offense, can they Can they score
points essentially, is what I'm saying, And you want a
little bit more help in my opinion when it comes to,
you know, to success on offense and so can they

(31:26):
get that from the run game? Can their defense force
Jackson Arnold some turnovers and some short and some short
field So I'm I'm That's why I think I slightly
Auburn plus the points here should be a fabulous game.
Obviously sort of a game for you know, Jackson Arnold,
like you knows as come back to Oklahoma. Like that
storyline is pretty fun to to think about here. So, uh,

(31:47):
what do you think about this game? I I I
think this game is probably close. It could go with
many different directions. But I do like Alburt to cover it,
at least.

Speaker 2 (31:56):
I do too. I think Albert sneaky. I do. I
think they dull little. I think they're live man. I do.

Speaker 3 (32:06):
And it's I and I like Oklahoma, So it's not
like I don't like Alcahola. I like them. I thought
they they handled Michigan. I just look at this team.
I look at Auburn. I just think they're they're good.
I think they're on their way back. Yeah, they're good.

Speaker 4 (32:24):
But I just you know, again, Oklahoma's defense is as
legit as we know with with their coaching staff. And
so if Oklahoma offensively can run the football, non John
Mattia runs, so they their quarterback by the I don't.

Speaker 2 (32:36):
Know they could do that.

Speaker 4 (32:38):
You know again, they can't either, which is a problem
in this game. And look, I have a John. I
saw them last week. I caught them last week. They
played in Philly. They're at the Link last week. Yeah,
it was a trap game and they played really well.

Speaker 3 (32:51):
I thought, Yeah, I felt they I thought they played
well too.

Speaker 2 (32:54):
You went to you went to Temple Oklahoma or you
just watched on TV? No, I went to the game.

Speaker 4 (32:59):
I uh, I had a there's a football sicko. Aren't
you just gonna watch Temple home games?

Speaker 2 (33:04):
I love it?

Speaker 3 (33:04):
Well, no, you know, I mean it was just to
watch Oklahoma. I mean, I you know, when you get
a chance to see them. If I'm not on the
road right, I'll, you know, I get I look to
see teams live when I can, because I think you
learn more, Like obviously you're watching tape. If you could
just grind tape, you can learn as much as anything.

(33:25):
But I like to see a team live and then
you know, like I was at a game Lass high
school game last night. I try to I try to
hit as mess as. If it's in the area, I'll
try to do it. And Oklahoma never comes, never comes here.

Speaker 4 (33:39):
So there was a chance last time you see that happen.

Speaker 3 (33:42):
Probably, Yeah, so I kind of wanted to check it out. Uh,
lots to get to Man, it's flying already, so buckle
your seatbelts. We got lots to go over with college.
We got all kinds of NFL stories. Injuries abound, quarterbacks
going down.

Speaker 4 (34:00):
Eagles are cheating stiff. I can't believe it. Just stay
on sides.

Speaker 2 (34:03):
I don't kidding. I love the touch bush.

Speaker 3 (34:07):
I was going to ask you because the crime is ridiculous,
out of control. Oh wh touchbus flat.

Speaker 2 (34:18):
We're the Fellas right here.

my man, let's uh, let's keep it going and keep
it moving.

Speaker 2 (34:55):
There's so much to go over today.

Speaker 3 (34:58):
Uh. Get in Nebraska. I can't wait for it's. Uh,
it's a great kind of test for Nebraska. Here they are,
They're looking good, They're feeling really good. It's Matt Rule
year three. Uh, and this is their first big test.
They've didn't play, you know, didn't have a great competition

(35:20):
over the last couple of weeks, kind of working on
some things.

Speaker 2 (35:23):
And I know.

Speaker 3 (35:24):
Matt's pretty anxious to see how he looks against Michigan.

Speaker 2 (35:29):
So you said, you you listen to rules podcasts, You
you help him? I host it with him.

Speaker 3 (35:33):
Yeah, I call him the one o my house Rules
no idea. So here here's a you know, Nebraska is
the team that I've said this year is like my
my sleeper in the Big Ten, Like they're the Indiana
of last year. Now sleeper is maybe the wrong term
to use, but I think they're they were going to

(35:55):
be a playoff team. I better than being a playoff team.
Like I I think they're the fourth Big Ten team.
So today obviously would go a long way and making
me look either smart or stupid. Would that take obviously
the long season. But this is a game that they
they should win, right. I just want to see And again,
I watched this Satday game.

Speaker 2 (36:15):
It was Friday night.

Speaker 4 (36:16):
It was easy to watch, Like I just want I
want to see more from Roola right into year two.

Speaker 2 (36:22):
Now.

Speaker 4 (36:23):
I talked to a big tim media day. I like
what he how he talks about football, like his mindset.
I just want to see more. It's a he's great,
he's great. I just want to see more, and that
more might come from just a play calling, that might
come from a lot of different factors. I want to
see more from him in a game where I don't
think gonna run them, don't think to run the ball

(36:44):
very well, and so it's gonna Shoulders to be the guy.

Speaker 9 (36:48):
Now.

Speaker 4 (36:48):
On the other side, Bryce Underwood has been great, the
the true freshman quarterback. But this is another road game
man a tough environment, and he didn't east the Oklahoma game.
I thought that would I think we the last time
we were on, I think I was pretty heavy on
Oklahoma in that game. I was I was offosite of
the brain. Remember we had a little, a little disagreement

(37:10):
on that game. And is he coming on today?

Speaker 2 (37:12):
Yeah? Again, okay, good. I don't have much.

Speaker 4 (37:15):
I don't have to take much for this game, but
I think I would take the under u because I
Michigan's offensive line I don't love.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
I don't love Underwood on the road.

Speaker 4 (37:24):
Again, I still have questions about Nebraska's offensive efficiency. But
this is the biggest home game for Nebraska since Oregon
came I think in two thousand and twenty sixteen.

Speaker 3 (37:39):
It's due. Yeah, it's a big one. Are you kidding me?
Like they're ready in Lincoln. This is a this is
a circle game. This is they're going to show up
in droves. To me, it's also a proof of concept game.
It is for matt Arraiola and that program.

Speaker 2 (37:59):
You know.

Speaker 4 (37:59):
I mean, I gotta see I gotta see it from
its just I need to see a little bit more
from him and maybe look, it's totally fair. They've been
saving things, which we know coaches, do you know to
wait for the right moment to use them. The right
moments today today, today is the right moment, buddy, agreed.

Speaker 2 (38:15):
Yeah, you're you're right on.

Speaker 3 (38:18):
I think he's got the chops to be that guy.
You got a great o c and Holgerson, and I
think he unleashes. I think you gotta because I agree
with you. I don't think you're running on Michigan.

Speaker 4 (38:31):
I don't think you are either, and obviously that'll be
a the be I I just again, I want the
restrictor plate off rail in this game. That that's what
That's what I want to see from this offense. I
want to see the restrictor play off Roola and I
want to see him in full command of the offense
and taking shots and and doing some some more things offense.

(38:52):
And I thought it's Cincinnati, which again I have not
watched them play Houston Christian and whoever else they smoked
sainty game. Uh, to me, there wasn't enough trust in
what Realla can do offensively. And maybe that's because they
don't trust him. I think they do. I want to
see it today.

Speaker 3 (39:08):
Yeah, I think it was because of the the opener
in Cincinnati, So you know, I think that's kind of
what you're saying.

Speaker 2 (39:14):
But you're right, you got to you gotta see today.

Speaker 3 (39:17):
Meanwhile, flipside Michigan, you could see their own schedule. Uh,
they're going to be really really good next year. That
kid is the truth. You watch Underwood, you could see flee.
You talk about those flashes that we haven't seen from Arch.
You see it from from Bryce.

Speaker 2 (39:33):
There you do.

Speaker 4 (39:34):
And again though, no matter how well he plays a
home again Central Michigan, this is a different beast playing
on the road Nebraska. And I know they in Oklahoma.
You know, it's just funny you listen to people talk
about his game in Oklahoma. You know he he rose
to the moment. I'm like, there's nine of twenty four.
I don't, I don't. He didn't play terribly, didn't play great.

(39:58):
I think that's what you have to concern yourself with
if you're in Nebraska today is making sure it doesn't
play great again.

Speaker 2 (40:03):
Now.

Speaker 4 (40:04):
What Michigan has done is they've allowed him to run
the ball a little bit more. And that's the concern
if you're to me, if you're in Nebraska, it's not
the passing game, which which Michigan is not gonna have
against a lot of teams because they just don't have
the wide receivers. It's can you stop him from rushing
and scrambling?

Speaker 3 (40:21):
Yep, yep, you're right, all all right, fellas, be back,
they'll go anywhere.

Speaker 1 (40:26):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (41:24):
All right, Jeff so, Uh, it was funny.

Speaker 3 (41:27):
Colin Coward, I thought had a great take and I
completely agree with him. It's Jim Harball as the greatest
all time coach I and he is. I will we
can discuss it, but I love it. I think he's
that good. But to me, the most underrated coach going
in the NFL is Sean McDermott.

Speaker 4 (41:50):
Oh, I think Sean's good.

Speaker 2 (41:54):
I don't know, he's underrated.

Speaker 3 (41:56):
Yeah, nobody talks about McDermott other than any get the
other than he gets. Uh, he gets crushed for not
getting you know that, winning the not getting over the
hump to the Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (42:07):
He they're just good. He's really every year they're consistent.

Speaker 3 (42:12):
It's not listen, Josh Allen helps obviously, but I think
McDermott's a really good coach.

Speaker 2 (42:19):
He's a really good coach.

Speaker 4 (42:20):
The issue, of course, and nobody talks about him, is
that when you get the expectations of winning a championship,
there are the only goal, and when you can't do
that and you continue to lose the same team every
year in those games, sort of have questionable moments that
that feel like they're on coaching. I think that's why
McDermott gets ignored in this discussion of best coaches. And
so you just gotta beat the Chiefs. If you beat

(42:42):
the Chiefs, no one talks about anymore. Like then then
all of a sudden, now we're in that in in
that pantheon of great NFL coaches, and it just that
that's just what hasn't happened yet. You have to hear
has to be the Chiefs, has to be the Chiefs
in the in the playoffs or really they don't beat
you can't sit he beat anyone, just someone to get
to a super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (42:59):
He's gotta get the super Bowl. That I mean, it's
the point I get it. I'm just talking about from
an underrated standpoint. I think he's under rate And when
we talk about great culture.

Speaker 2 (43:08):
I think he's underrated.

Speaker 3 (43:10):
Like nobody brings him up like Andy rightly so, John Harbaugh,
rightly so, Jim, we just got done talking about rightly
So sorry about it's right, but you got you got
you know, you hear from all these Mike Tomlin and
you get all these guys. But McDermott's never part of
the conversation. I just think he's really good coach. Uh,

(43:32):
he's a great coach, and you know, I think.

Speaker 4 (43:37):
Obviously getting the most out of Alan, especially when he
started slow for his career, is wonderful. And I think
that he's done a really good job of navigating finding
the right offensive coordinator. It took a little bit of time,
but Joe Brady obviously has got this offense rolling. Uh,
They've done a really good job Brandon Bean as his
general manager of drafting, especially on the offensive line, on

(44:00):
fill in defensively when they can with pieces. Obviously guys
are getting hurt, which is not their fault, but that
obviously makes it, you know, makes a difference in how
you play defensively. And Josh Allen's incredible man like watching
him play, Uh, there's a lot of you know, obviously

(44:20):
he can make special plays, but I think the way
he plays under control and the way he just finds
the right guy, makes the right read, and he's not
a guy that has to use his legs even though
we you know, we know he can. There's all these
things about the way he plays that are really special
to watch. And I credit McDermott for forgetting the most
out of a player like that.

Speaker 3 (44:42):
Yeah, and you I'm just and obviously it's because of
Thursday night and the fact that they were just one
and you just go, they're good again, man.

Speaker 2 (44:51):
Oh yeah, they're just really and it's a matter of
getting the play.

Speaker 4 (44:57):
I thought that would be the one seed this year
if you look at sort of schedule in their division
and where Baltimore and where Kansas City are right now.
Now the nfceeds, mean, the AFC North looks a little
bit easier with Burrows injuries, so maybe the Ravens will well,
you know, we'll have that one seed competing with them
for that. I don't think Canacity would have the one seed.
I didn't think they'd be this bad. But I think
they have the one seed, So you know, makes sense

(45:18):
about where where Baltimore and where the Ravens are right
now at the moment. Yeah, I mean, look, Baltimore the
Bills and the Ravens. The Bills, I mean, they're they're
gonna probably win thirteen or fourteen games. I maybe fifteen games.
I just don't think man teams are being in this season.

Speaker 2 (45:36):
Nah.

Speaker 3 (45:36):
Now, And look, I thought my I mean played well.
Now obviously the two would throw.

Speaker 4 (45:40):
Was they played fine, I mean for who.

Speaker 3 (45:43):
They are because because I'm not I'm not a big fan.
I thought they played gutsy short week against that team.

Speaker 4 (45:53):
Absolutely, you're right, it was uh but to uh his
air yards per target was like one, it was it
was a it was an okay game from them. I
thought their offensive line didn't really walks around the injuries
they have against Buffalo like that to me is Buffalo
down downfalls. Like their defense just is just not good

(46:14):
enough sometimes, you know, and part of his injury absolutely
Mlana was out and when he plays, it's a.

Speaker 2 (46:20):
Much right, you're a different story to the background.

Speaker 4 (46:22):
But they're just they're not as good when they need
to be on defense over the end, and then the
old but dirt. Look, my thing has always been this,
if you have a specialty as a head coach, you
better be going that specialty to your offense defense guy.
And they just not just not as good over the
years defensively in moments where that they should be.

Speaker 3 (46:43):
Well, they they've they've missed, you know, again, they've missed
I think that elite pass rusher at times, well, they.

Speaker 4 (46:50):
Got Bosta there obviously, Noosa is not the same player
he was and all of m was.

Speaker 3 (46:54):
Out last Well I think that's why, right, like and
now all of a sudden, I think they're expecting to
be to get but in the past they've missed that pass.

Speaker 2 (47:03):
Rusher absolutely half.

Speaker 4 (47:05):
But you know, they drafted like they've tried, you know,
I mean, so it's fine, right, he's good, and Oliver
is fine. You know he's not again, he's they're not
like all pro type guys. But yeah, and they've tried
to supplement that with the von Millers over the years,
and the Joey Bosas just hasn't been quite as good.

Speaker 3 (47:24):
All right, let's get into this because quarterbacks falling all
over the place.

Speaker 2 (47:30):
Yeah, not great.

Speaker 3 (47:32):
This is uh back up week three in the in
the NFL. So obviously the Barrow news to the toe
and you know it's going to be three months.

Speaker 4 (47:44):
No, but he he's not playing. We will not see
him until next year. I know, just people saying otherwise,
I think, or not you saying otherwise, But I think
we're being very optimistic. Turf toe is the wrong name
for the injury. It's toe exploding and everything tearing is
maybe the one I was saying he ain't coming back

(48:06):
this year. I feel very strongly about that.

Speaker 2 (48:10):
Regardless.

Speaker 3 (48:11):
You look at Cincinnati and Minnesota this week and you
got JJ out, you got Burrow out, and it's Browning
v Wentz now in Minnesota. Story is fascinating, right because
I was talking to Baldy and yesterday and like, so

(48:34):
I know Went's really well. Like I've saw his whole
career trajectory and the downfall. This is actually a spot
for him. He could actually play really well in this spot.
He played well against Here go with Me a little
bit two years ago, and again it was at the

(48:57):
end with the Rams, but it was eighteen game, and
he played really well. Last year with the Chiefs, they
played Denver, can't see the Devin starters in and Denver
did never needed the game, so it was kind of
an unfair spot for him. He's big, he still has
an arm. This dude was on he was on target.

(49:21):
Now go back early in his career, he's with the Eagles.
He has a really good rookie year. He's very promising.
They then twenty seventeen, get out of the gate. They're
just like rolling and he's rolling. They have it late
that they have a December game against the Rams in LA.

Speaker 2 (49:44):
It's for the top spot in the NFC.

Speaker 3 (49:47):
He gets hurt, blows his knee out, scoring a touchdown.
He then has to watch his backup win a super
Bowl on a magical run. Nick Foles, who will always
be a godlike figure in Philadelphia, went on a run
of like it was out of the story book.

Speaker 2 (50:09):
It was blue Snow.

Speaker 4 (50:10):
It was these two best games of his entire life,
where the Chapship game the super Bowl, it's kind of
it's kind of wild like that ended up being.

Speaker 2 (50:17):
Like it's Brady. It was unbelievable. It was just no
way to explain foals of those two games. It's just
a bun and Wentz. It's drove Wentz crazy.

Speaker 3 (50:28):
It drove him to the point where it really affected him,
like he was uh negative with his teammates and DARRENS
Bowles talked about it. He tried to rush back after
the knee injury the following year, tried to win a
Super Bowl in September, winds up breaking bones of.

Speaker 2 (50:49):
His back and he was just never the same. He
went on a bad He just went bad. It drove
him nuts.

Speaker 3 (50:58):
The crowd like the crowd didn't like him. The people
went bananas over falls. They built statues on the backup
quarterback and it drove him crazy. And then what happens
is he loses his job to another backup quarterback and
Jalen hurts because Jalen was drafted under Wentz watch and

(51:24):
he couldn't handle having Jalen behind him.

Speaker 2 (51:27):
So it just kind of the whole thing was a
career wrecker.

Speaker 3 (51:31):
Does he have a second act in Minnesota?

Speaker 2 (51:36):
Baldy thinks he might. Well.

Speaker 4 (51:39):
Baldi's the most positive human ever, so I don't think
he would say anything bad of anybody though, to be fair, right,
I mean, he's such a positive person. I don't think
I'll be the bad guy. Know no, I'll be the
bad guy, know I don't Why now he's gonna play
two weeks? I mean he up he does quickly in
this offense, the ball is gonna be out now.

Speaker 2 (52:00):
He just doesn't do that.

Speaker 4 (52:02):
Yeah, but Ko is a great coach, I get it.
But Darnald threw the ball quickly like that was part
of the part of the deal. And right now to
the Vikings offensive line, super beat up. If Wentz is
playing but had a behind the bat offensive line I
don't like this for him as well. Right, the center's
out this week, the left tackle still out. I don't
like that matchup.

Speaker 3 (52:21):
Now.

Speaker 4 (52:21):
The Bengals defense line is not great. But I watched
Wentz and you can't say last year fine, nothing special.
I don't expect some grand career reawakening for Wentz. The
problem one of the problems to with Wentz and I look,
as you can older, get more mature, like he just
never took responsibility for anything that bad that happened anywhere

(52:41):
he went. You know, it was just it was never
his fault. It was so it was this was the
plan that you know that the higher power had for me.
It's buddy, just take responsibility, Just say it's my fault.
I'm sorry I didn't play as well, or take some
cound of accountability that it really frustrates players when don't
take accountability.

Speaker 2 (52:57):
Right, Like we all we all watch the same film.

Speaker 4 (52:59):
We all it's okay to just be like, you know,
to be like, it's sorry I didn't play as well.
He just never took responsibility or accountability for anything that
happened anywhere he went.

Speaker 2 (53:07):
So you know that obviously changes when you mature.

Speaker 4 (53:10):
A little bit but that's I think also partly why
he just kind of wore in in Philly as well,
and in Indiapolis, by the way, people did not like
what he left there, and you know, he put out
his little statement about, you know, his time in Indianapolis
again for a game.

Speaker 3 (53:25):
Or now, he's been a disaster, the whole thing. But
what you can't argue is that at one point there
was ability, Like he's big athletic and he's got a
big arm.

Speaker 4 (53:41):
So we're in twenty twenty five, that was he last
played well in twenty eighteen. It's not time he played well.
Twenty eighteen. That was when he rushed back. But he's
still that wasn't an rushed back. So he came back, well,
he played well. I mean it was one game, so
I can't say I can't you know, the last time

(54:01):
he played well over a significant paiod of time was
twenty eighteen.

Speaker 3 (54:04):
Yeah, well, I mean that was the last time he
really had I mean, he failed. He's been a backup
over the last couple of years, so you know, he
didn't have an opportunity to play. I'm just curious, I like,
I'm curious about it because and it's less about Wench
and more about the situation, because the situation is he's
got great weapons. He's got to give the coach that

(54:27):
can scheme if he just follows, they just following it, but.

Speaker 4 (54:35):
Just following it's been The problem is he hasn't just
followed like.

Speaker 2 (54:39):
You know, you know.

Speaker 3 (54:39):
But again, when you mature, you're older, you have a
different outlook on life.

Speaker 4 (54:46):
Absolutely, yeah, I'm just I'm dying to see him.

Speaker 3 (54:51):
I'm dying to see me because here's listen, here's the
truth of the matter. JJ's overwhelmed, dude. So whether he's
out two to four weeks, so whatever it is, that
job's up for grabs. So I maybe I'm just in
a butt. I don't know I could say, can I
can you say an ss on there? I don't know
what you could say on this show. But yeah, I

(55:13):
just I spelled just spelled that you can spell in
the show. But I'm just.

Speaker 2 (55:19):
Spelled certain words.

Speaker 4 (55:21):
I can't spell that one even on the show you can.
But I guess that one might might want one want
to not make the cut here. I uh, dude, I uh,
I'm just maybe I'm a mean person. I'm a mean person.
I just don't believe a lot of these redeptan stories.
We don't see him very often.

Speaker 2 (55:37):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (55:38):
I don't really terribly root for them, to be honest
with you, I don't really just don't care of course
it wentz or not. Just it's actually just like a
very positive person. I just I yeah, yeah, situation is great.

Speaker 4 (55:53):
But he's gonna play for a couple of weeks and
they gotta put McCarthy back in. He if he, if
he does exactly is the offensive designed. There will be
guys open. But again, the problem has.

Speaker 3 (56:04):
Been he has not done that over his career, right,
he has not taken it. I'm not telling you that
that he's a locked that to have a redemption. I'm
just saying it's there for him. It's there. The situation
is open for him. Now here's the truth. The truth is,
the job is.

Speaker 2 (56:22):
Up for grabs.

Speaker 4 (56:23):
I mean I don't. I don't think it is at all.
I do you you have to let McCarthy. You can't
go if you if this is the Anthony Richards to
thing all over again, If you start benching McCarthy too early,
you've wasted a draft pick.

Speaker 2 (56:40):
You you you.

Speaker 4 (56:41):
You drafted a player that you knew needs reps to
get better, and you have to give him those reps.
If you do not, and look, you might determine, you
might say this guy is not good for the NFL.
He just immediately we know he's not. He can't play.
But you drafted a quarterback. If it needs the reps,
you have to give him the reps or you have
wasted time and you've wasted that.

Speaker 2 (57:03):
I hear you, I hear you.

Speaker 3 (57:04):
My only issue is if another quarterback comes in for
I don't know, another quarterback comes in and is plays well,
like really well, I mean, how do you go back
to the.

Speaker 4 (57:18):
Kid because he's he's that's the NFL is your starting quarterback.
That's that's what it's that because Carson Wentz provides, you know,
long term upside whatsoever. And we saw last year with
Sam Darnold he was good till he wasn't, right like,
and that's the thing about backup quarterbacks, right, they're good
and then they're not, and it's like, oh, well that
was fun for a little bit of time. There's no

(57:39):
upside in Carson Wentz if he plays well for a
month and you decide to go with him as your
starting quarterback and then he has that three week stretch
where it's like, oh, this is the real Carson Wentz
going back to McArthur, You've already crushed that kid's dreams
and you've already crushed his spirit by by benching this
early in his career. That's what is gonna happen.

Speaker 3 (58:02):
Dude, if you can't handle a little adversity and then
once he came ouniversity. But I mean, you're fragile. The
point is is if I don't know Whence thirty two
somehow is revived and can have a year, I don't know.
I mean, hey, hey, JJ, I need to sit back
for a year.

Speaker 2 (58:21):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (58:22):
I'll tell you we've talked about this for three minutes.
It's not gonna Mattercress, Carson Wentz gonna play good enough
to keep that job. So no matter what argue about
I know you. I know you might be partially because
of what he did in Philly, but no, I'm not.

Speaker 2 (58:34):
I'm not partial. I'm just talking about to I like story.

Speaker 3 (58:37):
I don't to be honest with you, I thought I
thought he was adberant in Philadelphia. I hated his attitude
and quite quite frankly, I couldn't wait for him to
leave town. He was he was not right for Philip,
for my town. He was not a I loved him

(58:59):
coming out of school. I thought he had a great ability.
I thought he was big, strong, athletic. He could be
like Josh Allen Josh. He had that, he had the
great arm. But he was not He wasn't coachable. I mean,
I mean, he was a hard he was horrible. He
was frustrating. So to be honest with you, I don't
like him, but I like his story. And I always

(59:22):
like somebody that has second chance. I don't care if
I well, how I feel about him personally or whatever.
I always root for human uh second chances for human beings.
Like I think it's it's healthy. I like to see it,
and I think it's great. And the dude had the
dude had ability. Man, I don't care what anybody says.
The dude had ability. His problem was between years. Yeah,

(59:46):
I guess I'm just a mean person.

Speaker 2 (59:48):
I don't really, I don't really.

Speaker 4 (59:50):
I mean, I think he's had his He's had plenty
of chances, like he's had his chances and it and.

Speaker 2 (59:55):
I just think it's an interesting situation anyway.

Speaker 4 (59:58):
It is, and I will say, I have a little
bit of of buyas here because I'm I'm just the
first round pick. Thing like obviously wasn't a first round pick,
and the amount of chances these first round picks get.

Speaker 2 (01:00:10):
To continue their career that makes sense. Well, I also,
I don't think it's gonna happen, but that just yeah,
there's a little there's a little edge to you. I
get it.

Speaker 4 (01:00:24):
First round and chance must be nice, right to just
get like to get if he was a third round pick,
when he would he have a chance to play.

Speaker 2 (01:00:32):
No, he'd be out of the NFL by now.

Speaker 4 (01:00:35):
He would.

Speaker 3 (01:00:36):
I'm about argue with it, all right, Yeah, well quick,
we'll come right back. Uh we got it, told him that.
I mean, there's injuries everywhere. It's amazing. Tyrod Taylor's playing
this week, and uh, it looks like Jayden Daniels is
out this week.

Speaker 2 (01:00:56):
It looks he is.

Speaker 9 (01:00:57):
He is.

Speaker 2 (01:00:59):
Got three organ duck starting this weekend. How about that?
I know there's ducks everywhere.

Speaker 4 (01:01:04):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:01:05):
So we'll talk about it, and then Sunday Night football,
we got to talk about the Bears.

Speaker 2 (01:01:11):
And the Caleb problem in Chicago. We will. We're the fellas.

Now it's time for the Tyraq Play of the Day.

Speaker 3 (01:02:05):
Earlier in the day, he came out Clayton Kershaw, gonna
call the career after this year. He then takes the mound,
could be for the last time at Dodger Stadium against
the Dodgers.

Speaker 5 (01:02:19):
Here he is Dave Roberts takes the long, slow walkout
from the third base dugout. He's just now approached the
mound Kershawn wanting to handle the baseball. Dave says, no,
you keep it. They are hugging on the side of
the mound. Kershaw walks off the mound. As a starter

(01:02:42):
of the regular season.

Speaker 3 (01:02:43):
For the final time, great story, great career, Clayton Kershaw.
Great moment that's courtesy of AM five seventy LA. What
a great moment for Kershaw. Jeff Uh, I love Clay
Kershaw gamer on an all time great pictures and it's

(01:03:05):
probably his last moment on a mound at Dodger Stadium.

Speaker 2 (01:03:09):
Just a bum bum up picture.

Speaker 6 (01:03:13):
No, he uh, you are a big guy his career'll
I'm been a bad guy.

Speaker 4 (01:03:19):
I'm a Giants fan his uh, his career.

Speaker 2 (01:03:23):
You like to you're a San Francisco Giants fan? Yes?

Speaker 4 (01:03:28):
Uh? Why do you care? What is your Why do
you hate the Giants?

Speaker 2 (01:03:33):
What are we gonna have? Always hated it?

Speaker 4 (01:03:35):
Because Cody Ross? Ye holidays? Yes sixteen years ago? Man, Yeah,
you know, like you've cached win a world series on
Cody Ross?

Speaker 2 (01:03:49):
And who was your utter failure?

Speaker 3 (01:03:52):
So good for the Phillies a twenty eleven Yeah, goes
to San Francisco, becomes clutching mister he was so good.

Speaker 4 (01:04:01):
He was so bad in Philly and we got Aaron
Rowan from you guys. He's stunk, right, so then we
gotta trade dude, he Kershaw. I actually forgot this in
the tweetut last night I was I went to sleep.

Speaker 2 (01:04:16):
I forgot.

Speaker 4 (01:04:16):
I was just sending out like he if Kershaw needed
to allow like forty hits and walks in the first
inning to get his whip up to one against the Giants.
He he is facing the Giants heading into that game
like he's faced I think fifteen hundred batters his career
walks hits per an whip is less than one. He
has shut against us for eighteen years in a row now,

(01:04:39):
and it's one of those things where I want to
hate the guy because I'm a giant, you know, But dude,
he has been so good. He has been so much
fun to watch. Obviously, it's you know, the evolution of
adding in that slider now, but that big kurveball has
always been this thing, and you know, his longevity obviously,

(01:05:01):
sort of getting over the hurdle in the postseason is
a big storyline for his career.

Speaker 2 (01:05:05):
You know, for a while there.

Speaker 4 (01:05:06):
It wasn't as good in the postseason as it needs
to be, But it got obviously much better the last
couple of trips the postseason. Dude, it's just been he's
been a pleasure to watch. Again, I've rooted against him
for years, but you have to you have to respect
obviously the results that we've seen, you know, and just look,

(01:05:27):
it seems like a good person too, which is important,
I think. And eighteen years on one team. I got
a discussion with someone the other day, like, I who's
the best Dodger pitcher ever? I think he's better than Cofax.
But that's just the longevity of his career. People, it's
gonna take it.

Speaker 2 (01:05:45):
I mean, I can't. I can't say that. I don't.

Speaker 3 (01:05:47):
I don't really, you know, dude, dude, I mean, first
of all, I wasn't alive, so I mean either, but
I know, But but co facts you told to anybody cofacts.
Eventually someone's better than some of those guys.

Speaker 4 (01:06:03):
It's never gonna be I mean, Kershaw, I mean you can't.
I mean there's so many stats about him, like this
is win loss record is you know, to have as
many win as he had with less than.

Speaker 3 (01:06:13):
A problems with Clayton, he's always been the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (01:06:16):
Yeah, but eventually he's he had he has figured that out.
He that he has gotten that did follow him, and
his thing was always that just the third time through
the order was always the hard part for him. And
once he got you know, once he got through that,
you know that was always been an issue for him
in those moments. So nonetheless, though, incredible career and uh,

(01:06:37):
you know, I'm as someone who is who has dominated
the Giants for for so many years, sad to see
him go.

Speaker 2 (01:06:45):
It would be a great October though.

Speaker 3 (01:06:49):
For what this October is gonna be fun base Oh,
it's gonna be fantastic. I uh I, I wonder what
the numbers are this morning. I should bet it earlier.
But I think Count Rawley should be the AL MVP.
By the way, it's not a.

Speaker 2 (01:07:04):
Hot take, but yeah, of course, but but he's not.
But I think Judge is still a favorite. Yeah, I
would take I would go rally.

Speaker 4 (01:07:11):
Judges minus four to twenty five.

Speaker 2 (01:07:14):
Still, is he really DraftKings?

Speaker 4 (01:07:17):
The Mariners are in first place, they've won letting ten
or last eleven games? Have you not give the big
dumper the MVP? We know I agree with you, Listen,
I'm with you. I'm a big believer in that. Like
I used to vote for it when I was covering
baseball back in the day, and I.

Speaker 2 (01:07:33):
Would vote for all those awards.

Speaker 3 (01:07:35):
I would always go with a team that you know,
you look at the what Seattle's done.

Speaker 2 (01:07:42):
I would I would go Rally over Judge. I agree.

Speaker 3 (01:07:45):
Now, I granted, the Yankees are nothing without Judge and
Rally's got a better lineup around them.

Speaker 2 (01:07:54):
Well yeah, but.

Speaker 4 (01:07:55):
He also plays a tougher position to hit, which is
great catchers. That's why we don't see a ton of
catchers that that it's hard to hit, to put that
wear and tear in your body plate and then and
then obviously come and hit.

Speaker 2 (01:08:08):
Yeah, I agree, I mean.

Speaker 3 (01:08:09):
I again, ultimately, I would go Rally because of what
they're doing, and I think they're better than the Yankees,
and I love kind.

Speaker 2 (01:08:19):
Of where they're at.

Speaker 3 (01:08:21):
So, you know, but you take Judge off the Yankee,
the Yankee lineup steaks. I mean, I like Ballinger, but
they got we're bopping down the lineup, I mean, without
without the Judge. You mean staying and Chishem's all right,
But I didn't know you hate the Giants so much. Disappointed. Yeah,

(01:08:44):
I'm sorry, buddy. I do love I did love.

Speaker 4 (01:08:48):
The Giants to this year, so that's part of it.
I also hate them this year too because we can't
we can't win any games, and it was open.

Speaker 3 (01:08:55):
It's wide open before you make the playoffs, that's free fall.

Speaker 4 (01:08:59):
We're now we're just it's not gonna happen. Now, we
can't win games anymore. So I don't like your lineup. Dude,
who Giants? Yeah, we stink. It's it's not it's not
a fun dude, the Giants. That's on this tweet three
days ago. Over the last thousand games, Giants are five
hundred and five hundred. It's the most boring team to
root for. They're just completely boring. They I've said this

(01:09:21):
for years, like if you're gonna be like, either be
really bad or be fun, like do something other than
being the most boring team of all time.

Speaker 2 (01:09:30):
And they're just the most boring team of all time.

Speaker 4 (01:09:31):
And it's just not a fun team to root for
for that reason because they just they just will have
seven games stretches where they score eleven runs over seven
games and you're.

Speaker 2 (01:09:46):
Like what what what?

Speaker 7 (01:09:47):
What?

Speaker 2 (01:09:48):
How is that possible?

Speaker 4 (01:09:50):
And they're just always always boring.

Speaker 2 (01:09:53):
Man, have you did you got a candlestick when you
were young? No?

Speaker 4 (01:09:59):
So I I did not go to candles. I've been
to at and T a billion times. If I've not
been a Candlestick. No, So my dad grew up in
the Bay Area, so that's why I ended up being
a Giants Niners fan as a kid. But my dad
didn't really have a bud. I think his basketball team
was like just anti Lakers, so he was a Celtles
fan essentially. But then we had we when I was young,

(01:10:23):
my parents had season tickets or my dad essentially had
any tickets to the form that he him and two
other friends split so we got the other calendar. You know,
you went to twelve games a year whatever, it was
fifteen games a year cool, and the form was the
greatest thing ever.

Speaker 2 (01:10:37):
It was incredible.

Speaker 4 (01:10:37):
So my dad just, I guess essentially let me become
a Lakers fan. He didn't really care. So I grew
up Lakers, Giants, Niners. Now for football, I immam Niners
fan anymore, but yeah, I've been look, Giants had their
three championships and it's probably all seen a lifetime and
I'll be very happy that we won those championships.

Speaker 3 (01:10:56):
So I was when I was covered baseball back in
the day, So it was like the end of Candlestick
and then the beginning of at and T right. So,
but the greatest concession food. Ever can I stick? Yeah, dude,
I trust me when it comes to food, especially Italian food.

(01:11:20):
Like I you know, I don't play right. So a
friend of mine from New York. I was working in
New York and a friend of mine says to me, Hey,
did you try the pasta at the concession? I went, no,
I'm not eating bowing not somebody eat ballpark pasta?

Speaker 2 (01:11:39):
What are eating? Crazy? He went, dude, you gotta trust me.
I go do it.

Speaker 3 (01:11:44):
I'm not eating ballpark pasta. Okay, I'm not doing it.
He's like, just I'll pay for it. So if I did,
it was this RIGATONI dish. If I told you, I
was like what it was like fresh basil depasta was
done out that day. It was a little moosa and

(01:12:07):
it like it was it was. It was unbelievable. I
couldn't believe the quality. It was such an amalfall, like,
where the hell? How the hell it was actually delicious?

Speaker 2 (01:12:20):
I can't believe it.

Speaker 4 (01:12:21):
My favorite thing about what I've heard about Candlestick is basically,
you know the Mark Twain comment right that the cold
whichever spent was the summer in San Francisco. Yes, it
that My Daddy's told me the time, like July, bringing
like a full like Parka with him to dude, I
still love it because very often right, but like even
when I like when I go to AT and T
and it's been a long time, I haven't. I only

(01:12:42):
have been since A twenty fourteen World Series. Yeah, it uh,
it's freezing, like you're it's like you have to bring
a jacket with you. It's freezing.

Speaker 2 (01:12:53):
But yeah, it's cool. It's cold.

Speaker 4 (01:12:55):
It's cold for the for the summer when it's one
hundred and seven and Charlotte and you're going.

Speaker 3 (01:12:59):
Right, But it's a great it's a great feel like
it's a great break. I still love my camp. I
still love going to Candlestick in the middle of the summer.

Speaker 4 (01:13:09):
I like going to Att Park whatever it's called now,
who knows what it's.

Speaker 3 (01:13:12):
Well whatever, I love going to att when when I
love going to San Francisco in the summer, it was
always great, like it was like break.

Speaker 4 (01:13:18):
I used to so I would when I was training,
when I was training in La in the off seasons,
I would fly.

Speaker 2 (01:13:24):
I would take a one day trip.

Speaker 4 (01:13:25):
I'd fly up on Southwest in the morning from La
San Francisco. I would take the Bart to uh To
I think it's Market Street and get off and you
walk a couple of miles to the game because the
Giants always play when they have the Giants that have
a series at home, either Wednesday or Thursday, is a
day game every every week. It's always a day game. Yeah,
and so I go the day game, you know, twelve thirty,

(01:13:47):
first pitch, and that would take the Bart to Fisherman's Wharf,
get a sour dough bread, bull climb chowder, and then
go to the airport and go home.

Speaker 2 (01:13:55):
That was my routine. Everything a great day. I did
it once. Oh and it ain right at t is
Chinatown too, which is always they got correctly like there
was so it was the best.

Speaker 4 (01:14:04):
Like again seven am, fly up, lotter than that, but
you know, fly up, go to the game, have a
seven o'clock flight.

Speaker 3 (01:14:13):
Yeah, I'm with you, all right, let's get back to football.
Uh where the fellas Jeff Schwartz Anthony Gargan on hanging
out on a Fox football Saturday. Hey, this isn't just
a game, It's a once in a generation event. The
Harlem Globetrotters one hundred year Tour come to be a

(01:14:35):
part of a legacy that will never stop. Be there
when history is made. The Harlem Globetrotters one of your
year tour. Get your tickets today at Harlem Globetrotters dot com.
All right, my man, uh Caleb Williams Sunday Night football

(01:14:55):
going up against Maddieberflus and the Cowboys. Not something like
it's for twenty five chiefs. Big Fox care or yeah,
big Fox came. All eyes will be watching, right, it's Brady,
It'll be fascinating. So far it looks like the same old,

(01:15:19):
same old, with Caleb all over the place, mechanics a mess,
and you know, you know it's got to be a
source of giant sorts of frustration for Ben Johnson. How
long until you start to worry?

Speaker 4 (01:15:38):
So I look, it takes eight to twelve weeks for
a new offense and a new coaching quarterback to get
on the same page and figure out what's good and
what's bad and what they need to do better and
what plays work and whatnot like those are those are

(01:15:59):
very That's the timeline of what it takes. But you know,
pack this di quession. But we have with college quarterbacks,
you sort of can feel if they have that in
factor or not. And the issues with Kayleb Williams continued
to be the same, and I thought last week was
a tad better, even though obviously they got they got
beaten by thirty, it looked a little bit better at times.

(01:16:21):
And for me, you want to see that incremental improvement
every week. There are going to be weeks when it's
not as good. But if you continue to just get
better from week one every quarter, right week one to
week four, five to eight, obviously it's extra week there
and somewhere because it's seventeen weeks now, but that to
me is what I need to see from Williams. And

(01:16:42):
the plays are there to be made. Just make the
plays that are there to be made. But I think
it's fair to say, let's reevaluate at the end of October.
If it's not better, then we have huge concerns in
my opinion about Williams. But clearly trying to figure out
their identity on offense. They're trying to figure out the

(01:17:04):
best way to use Williams and find success in this offense.
The Cowboys play no defense. They've allowed thirty seven to
the Giants and twenty fourth Eagles before their reign delay.
So if the Bears don't score this weekend at home,
Dome team outside Cowboys play no defense, have no pass rush.
I mean since Parsons left, they have no pass rush.
So if they can't do it this weekend, it looks

(01:17:28):
a little bit better. I'm gonna start working. I'm not
worrying yet. I'm not worrying yet. Still still time to
get better. But this is a weekend where we should
see the Bears put up multiple touchdowns.

Speaker 2 (01:17:39):
I could see it. You know.

Speaker 3 (01:17:42):
It's funny because I went from faking you know, this
is a perfect kind of bounce back week for the Bears.

Speaker 2 (01:17:49):
You know, back at home.

Speaker 3 (01:17:51):
The Cowboys defense can be legally leaky, just like you said.
But and then the buddy of mine goes, dude, he's
got the answers to the test, trust me. Ibra Flues
already has the answers. It was kind of interesting, you know,
to kind of think about that perspective.

Speaker 2 (01:18:12):
Because because he coached him last year. Yeah, I I okay,
what is it? It's a different offense. How does he
know that? I know? But he like he knows the player.
This guy.

Speaker 3 (01:18:27):
Sure, he's like he knows the player inside it out,
and he's a player that he's a player that can
be defended.

Speaker 4 (01:18:35):
He's got weaknesses right now. Yeah, I think the weakness
is he just doesn't get rid of the ball. So
if you take away the first read, what does he
do next?

Speaker 2 (01:18:46):
Right and like that?

Speaker 4 (01:18:49):
Yeah, sure, I get I get that idea. But the
ad lib stuff is good at times with Williams and
Ben Johnson can't scheme up success. And the Cowboys defense
stinks to just to think they have them, Like they
allowed Russell Wilson to throw for four hundred and fifty yards.

Speaker 2 (01:19:07):
I can't. I can't figure that.

Speaker 3 (01:19:10):
I can't figure that out because the Cowboys defense, that
was interesting.

Speaker 2 (01:19:16):
They like the Eagles, scored the first game.

Speaker 3 (01:19:18):
Eagles scored the first three drives, went down the field, yeah, boom,
boom boom.

Speaker 2 (01:19:23):
And then they got shut down. And then now part
of it I think was the delay. Like the delay
everyone that there were only punts after the delay.

Speaker 3 (01:19:30):
No one scored exactly, so I think that and they did,
but they did shut them down in this entire second half.

Speaker 4 (01:19:38):
I don't we have seen so far this season when
there have been rain delays in college or NFL. There's
just no offense after the rain delays, so I don't
put much soccer to that.

Speaker 3 (01:19:47):
Yeah, yeah, anyway, it'll be interesting to kind of see
where where he's at, you know, coming up, I want
to get in to the Chiefs, and I want you
to kind of put your head. I want you because
you like the Chiefs and I'm curious to see where
you stand right now. All right, where the fella is,

(01:20:11):
Big hour, the brain's going to join us right here

Speaker 1 (01:20:16):

Breeing Mighty Mark Fine production team behind the scenes. Jeff,
what's the old chap today?

Speaker 2 (01:21:08):
Jeff? We got college football big day.

Speaker 4 (01:21:11):
Oh yeah, so you're gonna be fired in Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:21:15):
My kids are out of town again this weekend.

Speaker 4 (01:21:17):
My wife and her cousin have this obsession, obsession with
going to Savannah Banha games like it's it's a it's aggressive,
and so they're going again to another they went, they
went to they went to New York last weekend. They're
going to seat. They're in Seattle this weekend. My wife
gets obsessed without so I don't know. They just got
they got the tickets this year in the water. I
don't know how they did it. So they're like using

(01:21:38):
these opportunities to go visit. They're going. I'll give my
wife credit. She's she is way more fun as a
parent than I am. Like she's the fun parent. She
booked a salmon fishing thing for the kids tomorrow. They
love to fish. They're gonna go salmon fishing the Puget Sound.
So I didn't have a fun weekend.

Speaker 2 (01:21:56):
But that's awesome.

Speaker 4 (01:21:57):
Yeah, you don't want to go, I work, buddy, I
I can't. I took off last weekend with you. I'm
not gonna wait at two thirty Pacific to work to
do the show. I mean, Scott, get your studio, not that,
not at that time of day. I don't think right

(01:22:17):
The point is I'm not there. It doesn't matter. I'm
not going. I'm watching football today. I'm actually right now.
You're loving it right now?

Speaker 2 (01:22:25):
Who you're lying? You're going, I got the family?

Speaker 4 (01:22:28):
Well, so I actual deal football all day. I'm actually
looking up right now and during the break there's an
air National grocery store like five miles from me, and
I want to buy some stuff today that I'm going
to make. I make food at home that I that
my kids aren't gonna eat, you know, when they're gone. Sure,
so I'm looking up recipes. That's always doing the break,
I have a grocery list going right here at my

(01:22:50):
desk about what I'm gonna do after the show, Like
what grocer.

Speaker 2 (01:22:53):
Now, what do you what do you okay? So mak okay.

Speaker 4 (01:22:57):
So a couple of days so when I I like
to order Chinese food, and I decided I'm just gonna
start making it myself. So I have just started making
my own Chinese food at home and I want to
try this noodle dish today called the beef Chop Fun.

Speaker 2 (01:23:13):
And I need things I need.

Speaker 4 (01:23:15):
I need to get the actual like fresh like thick
rice noodles, and they don't sell them anywhere except I
think there's again we have like an international grocery store
that sells them. So I will probably just drive there
this morning and get just like brows. I'll do that
for lunch to I don't know what. I don't know
what else I'm gonna do with heat. They got some

(01:23:36):
good actually, they'll have good meat there.

Speaker 3 (01:23:39):
Yeah, I get some heat, some good like pepper, like
the pepper oil.

Speaker 4 (01:23:48):
Everything that you can make your own pepper oil though,
like you can make that's I do that. Yeah, So
I am. Uh, That's what I'm gonna do today. So
I'm making a I don't know what to do.

Speaker 2 (01:23:57):
That sounds good, a little beef fun. I'm gonna be over, buddy,
I come over. Watch.

Speaker 4 (01:24:05):
I love to cook. So it's like I put like
I need oyster sauce on the minute. That's on the
list right now. So yeah, man, that's what I'm doing today.
I'm gonna cook some food. Watch them watch them ball.
I might do a little gym, a little little mid
afternoon gym before working game possibly as well. Uh, we'll see,
we'll see what my day goes.

Speaker 2 (01:24:24):
You know, just whatever whatever I fancy. It's a good day.
Hang out with the day, you know, live in the dream.

Speaker 3 (01:24:30):
We got our first game today, youth. Well are at
four fifteen.

Speaker 4 (01:24:38):
Yeah, we don't. We don't start to fight football till
next Saturday. So we have we have baseball and softball
happening too.

Speaker 2 (01:24:46):
You'll want to be in camp since July, dude.

Speaker 4 (01:24:49):
You'll, you'll you'll enjoy this as a as a parent
of sports youth sports parents.

Speaker 2 (01:24:53):
So my daughter is catching now.

Speaker 4 (01:24:56):
She's playing ten y sootball. It's our first it's our
first time at ten you she just turn nine in
the summer, so it's playing ten year right now. And
so she can't pitch yet because the other girls are
better than her essentially at the moment. So I was like,
So they asked her she wanted to catch. I was like, yeah,
she can catch really well, Like, let's go do that.
So her second dating catching was last game and she

(01:25:18):
was she was a little bit late throwing, but she
can throw from home to third on a line already,
and she almost threw a girl out who was stealing.
She just didn't throw the ball fast. Yeah, and such
a form is not even great. Her form is not
even great yet as a but I'm like, been looking
up catchers gear for youth. I just don't know, like

(01:25:41):
you get this as a sports parent, Like, I just
I don't know if it's time for catchers gear yet.
I'm like, ah, she could use the shared catcher's gear
for the fall, and I'll buy her something in the spring.

Speaker 2 (01:25:49):
She could go for it.

Speaker 4 (01:25:53):
But he's the thing. The price is not the problem, buddy.
The problem is is the waste. Like if she decides
I don't I don't really want to catch anymore. I
don't really want to catch anymore. And you're like, I
just spent.

Speaker 2 (01:26:08):
It's a part of it.

Speaker 4 (01:26:10):
I just sell this money on gear. And look, there
are some there's some awesome gear, Like, there are some
good looks. You got to go for it to home,
go for it. I'm gonna I'm gonna talk to their coach,
her coach again on Tuesday and see, like what what
what she really thinks.

Speaker 3 (01:26:23):
Here's why you go for it, because if you get
her the gear, it's going to be the driving impetus
for to work at it and stay with it.

Speaker 4 (01:26:35):
Yeah, I think she likes it because she's in on
every play. She's actually good that age, and it's hard
to find kids that want to catch Yeah, she's she's
like her old man. She's tough, she's she's a trench,
she's a trench warrior. She's doing a great job so far. Look, man,

(01:26:58):
I set very simple things for my kids. All I
want them to do is give their best effort. That's
I tell them that all the time. I don't care how.
I don't care the result of the play. I don't
even at school, like just do you do your homework,
You give your best effort. If you get a bad grade,
we'll figure it out. We'll figure And so with her,
I just told her like just I want you to hustle.

(01:27:18):
And she's doing it. Man, it's all asked her. Who
was the hustle? And so you know, ball gets by her.
She's running and getting after it and learning where to
throw the ball and learning how to play. And so
that's all I care about. So, yeah, Catcher's gear, I
don't I don't know, man, we'll see, we'll.

Speaker 2 (01:27:34):
See get the gear.

Speaker 3 (01:27:36):
I'm just get it, all right, just come on.

Speaker 2 (01:27:43):
Just get it.

Speaker 4 (01:27:43):
I'm well, we'll see. I might have it by next Saturday.
Not buying it today, but by next Houray.

Speaker 2 (01:27:51):
We'll tell you.

Speaker 3 (01:27:51):
Relax and all I we got a game that our
first David came since the end of July, all right,
the first playing today. We've had two preseason games, like
they take it real. It's like, why live in South Jersey,
which is right aroun to Bridge from Philly, and it's
you know, it's youth football.

Speaker 2 (01:28:10):
It's like a big, big deal.

Speaker 3 (01:28:13):
I was at a high school game last night. It's
just ridiculous. I mean there was fifteen thousand people there
last night.

Speaker 4 (01:28:20):
Oh by the way, we my my high school played
a team from Philly two weeks ago.

Speaker 3 (01:28:28):
Uh, who do we play? They beat him by like one.
I was kind of surprised. We got a good high school.
They played a team for Philly. They came down to
Charlotte to play.

Speaker 2 (01:28:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (01:28:39):
Was it was U Roman Conference? Oh yeah sure, yeah, yeah,
they came down that great. We want we Our team won.

Speaker 4 (01:28:49):
By one that we didn't play terribly well.

Speaker 2 (01:28:52):
And since then we're five, we're five and our team
is really good. Yeah. But yeah, they won. Our team won,
so uh, yeah, we have good football right here. We
have Yeah, that's that's good. That's good stuff.

Speaker 3 (01:29:09):
My Massimo tweaked his hamstring like two weeks ago. He
had like one of those weekends where we had a
preseason football game and four baseball games over a weekend.

Speaker 2 (01:29:20):
Yeah. The baseball's it's a lot of baseball. And I
was it Saw.

Speaker 3 (01:29:24):
I'm like, dude, so we've been I've been taking it
easy with him, and but today, like, dude, you need
they need you today. You gotta go here, you go play.
He's a quarterback, so it's like he's fine, he's young.
This is hanfur Hols survive.

Speaker 2 (01:29:45):
I know.

Speaker 3 (01:29:46):
All right, the Chiefs. Let's get back to business. The Chiefs.
What's your concern level? Okay with Kansas City. Uh, I'm
fairly concerned. And let me explain explain why here. So
I have been one for years who has.

Speaker 4 (01:30:04):
Thought, well, I'll start with this first of all. Okay,
So the problem with the Chiefs, and I'll get to
my point. The problem with the Chiefs.

Speaker 2 (01:30:13):
Is that.

Speaker 4 (01:30:16):
It's an offense that is built around mahomes, as it
should be, by the way, but it's an offense that
when you build around the passing game, first, you need
to have guys available to play, right, So like Ray Sheet,
Rice and Worthy, all those guys not playing is obviously
killing them, right. And I think if you take away
number one and two wide receivers for any quarterback, you're

(01:30:37):
going to see problems. And the offense is just so
built around that concept that when they're not there, it's
going to be different. Okay, so let's start with that now.
I think that we can say that when they come
back it should be better. We don't know, but I
would imagine it does look better and the passing game
should be fine. The problem for me right now is

(01:30:57):
the run game, which was I have can play this
one get into. Complained about the run game for years.
It has been boring and stale, and I don't understand
all the shotgun runs. It doesn't make sense. They do
a ton of r pos with no quarterback. Who's the
who's the who's the the r L You don't run
the ball, so you have to you have to change
your run game. And for years it hasn't been a problem,

(01:31:18):
right because the pass game has been what they do
correct and when you're passing the ball well, your run
game opens up a little bit. But now when the
pass game is not there, you can't run the football
like you need to have a supplement, right like you
have a balance offense. They can't do that right now
because they're not a good rushing team, but it's it's
masked when they're a good passing team. And they're neither

(01:31:40):
of those things right now, and so it's a huge
concern for me. And part of the you know, the
concern is is the scheme again. I think it's kind
of boring and stale. And then they're running backs. Buddy,
I think me and you could break more tackles right
now than Kareem Hunt and Isaiah pa Chiko.

Speaker 2 (01:31:56):
Can't think they have. I complained about this draft is there.

Speaker 4 (01:32:00):
It was a great running back year and they just
spent a seventh round pick on a running back. They
should have spent more on a back to get more
explosive from that position.

Speaker 2 (01:32:08):
It was.

Speaker 4 (01:32:08):
It was so needed they didn't do it, And so
you have all these concerns right now with the offense.
It will get alleviated whinning Xavier Worthy, who was questionable
by the way for Sunday, gets back on the field.
If he's back on the field, and I'd imagine it
looks a little bit better if it doesn't. More concerns,
more problems, but it's easily fixable. I like to hear

(01:32:31):
Andy Reid took responsibility the other day for that loss.
I thought the game plan again, the offense is, you know,
offense has evolved, and Andy Reid's offense has just gotten
stale again. I will give it time because of the
wide receiver injuries, but I'm glad you took responsibility for that.

(01:32:53):
That fourth down play call was utterly atrocious. I just
can't I just don't.

Speaker 3 (01:32:57):
Know why they form a dead play takes too long
to developed, way too long, and you're allow on that
penetration Eagles front, the Eagles defective front is good, and
you front.

Speaker 4 (01:33:08):
Pulling in the sweat, and you have Creem Hunt, who
from the from the other side of the formation is
supposed to just it's you know, he's so there's just
a lot of problems. I think again, I trust Andy Reid,
the homes, I trust I trust all these guys to
figure it out. The Giants defensive lines are really good,
so I'm really curious, sort of to see this game
obviously must win game for Kansas City. Is they need

(01:33:31):
to get back on the right track here.

Speaker 2 (01:33:35):
I was, you know, I was surprised that they didn't
try to use like Smith.

Speaker 4 (01:33:40):
And they never really used him at all, which I'm like,
maybe he's not right now. Again, he was a wide
receiver turn running back, So maybe they're just not ready
yet for that full time responsibility.

Speaker 3 (01:33:51):
They need that, like they need they need some someone excited.

Speaker 4 (01:33:55):
I've argued this for years. Their screen team that was
Andy's calling card for years and years just want to
because they don't have a running back can break tackles
and make explosive runs and so all these things. And
I think it's again it's worth mentioning, like the team
is not as talented has been in the past.

Speaker 3 (01:34:14):
But real quick, what's wrong with Mahomes Because listen, he's
had Thornton a half dozen times in two weeks.

Speaker 4 (01:34:22):
He's missed them five Like, why don't.

Speaker 2 (01:34:24):
You hit him? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:34:26):
Well so here, So here's I think, you know, I
think the problem is this, right, Like, so eventually he
hit him at the end of the game, eventually, right,
he got there eventually, Yeah, but he's missed him badly.
Wide open yeah. Yeah, So all of training camp he
had Xavier Worthy and Rachi Rice, right, and now you've

(01:34:48):
taken those guys out of the lineup. So that means
Hollywood Brown goes from one you know to three, from
three to one as a wide receiver, right, Ford goes
from wide receiver four to wide receiver two. Like, those
are not guys he's worked with before, right, And I
think it does matter and he figured out at the

(01:35:10):
end of the game eventually, but he just hasn't end
up connection with these guys. He's just didn't work with
them like this entire offseason.

Speaker 3 (01:35:17):
And again that it's fair and I get, But however,
when you're that wide open, just put samar on to
the ball like he just didn't flat.

Speaker 4 (01:35:27):
Yeah, And I think, well, I don't think, I know,
Like the offensive line is fine, but you watch like
Josh Allen to play, he just sits back there all day.
He has a lot of time. So there's a little
bit of that for me. I think Josh Shmman's actually
playing really well the rookie for you know, Kings, He's
getting better. So like they're they're going to be fine.

(01:35:49):
The question is what does fine look like this season?
It's probably not good enough to beat Buffalo and the
blessing that now obviously, and shame on me if they
to be Buffalo, you know in the postseason. I don't
I don't think it is. I don't think it is.
But obviously, you know, you got to prove that, you know,

(01:36:09):
Buffalo comes.

Speaker 3 (01:36:10):
I mean, you look at your own division, though, because
I think the Chargers had surpassed them.

Speaker 4 (01:36:16):
I think I think, I don't think I think we're
I think you're right month And what the Charger you
have done that I think is really really impressive is
that Jim Harbaugh said this this offseason but they're actually
doing it right now, is that they have made this
offense Justin Herbert. And we always sort of thought a

(01:36:39):
harbag Greg Roman offense was going to be was going
to be basically a run first offense, and what they've
done is made into a pass first offense. And they've
let Justin Herbert showcase his physical abilities and they've made
the offense Justin Herbert offense, and it makes a world difference.
Right they started the Raiders game with seven straight passes,

(01:37:01):
seven straight coal passes. Herbert ran one of them and
then ooka They don't even have great weapons like yet,
like they just they don't. Quinn Johns, Well, yeah, so okay,
so I'm well you mentioned what makes a good offensive coordinator,
right is putting guys.

Speaker 2 (01:37:18):
In the right roles in offense.

Speaker 4 (01:37:21):
And right now, the role for Quinn Johnson is you're fast,
you go deep, and the role for Ladi mconukey is
you're a great route. You're the intermediate guy. Right and
giving those assigned roles really makes life easier for all
your guys, right, Like Quentin Johnson knows, Man, I'm gonna
run fast. I'm not gonna be asked to do a

(01:37:42):
bunch of crazy routes. And I just got to catch
the football. He's catching the football. And I think just
defining his role for him and not asking him to
do too much is allowed him to play a little faster,
a little freer, and those are that's important, right. You
have to it's a coach figure out where your players
are best at and a lot of coaches don't figure

(01:38:03):
that out. And they've just showne a great job of
figuring that out. And I think I think it's really
paid off with the success so far this season. And
you have to give that staff credit for getting to
that point where they can say, look, man, you do this,
you do this, you do this, and they're playing really
good football.

Speaker 2 (01:38:20):
There's no doubt about it.

Speaker 4 (01:38:21):
Hardball is great. I think the Broncos might win this
weekend though. It's a perfect spot for this. It's a
perfect NFL spot for the two and zero team was
super hot to lose, the team that just lost a
bad game.

Speaker 2 (01:38:32):
But that's the NFL.

Speaker 4 (01:38:32):
The NFL obviously is this different sport than college football.
But I I'm another Chargers man. I look, I'm a
Herbert guy, Oregon guy. I'm glad her Well. Yeah, but
I think the best thing they've done is they have
essentially said, justin Herbert, you're the guy, go be the
best player in the football field.

Speaker 2 (01:38:54):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (01:38:55):
Yeah, well, and that was missing right now. They they
needed to develop him to that point too much, too soon,
and then her and then hardball comes in very conservative
and slowly brings this into into the equation. I think
it's really smart. It's why he's such a great coach.

(01:39:15):
I mean, Stanford, the Niners.

Speaker 4 (01:39:19):
Well, Michiago first, San Diego first, or that was a
he hate to win in San Diego, not not not
the Aztecs, this University of the Toros, University of Diego.

Speaker 2 (01:39:30):
The I remember, dude, I was. I think I was
uh u c A. I was.

Speaker 4 (01:39:39):
I was on a buy in two thousand and seven.
I had come home. I think UCLA might have been
playing Notre Dame. I went to Rose Bowl with my
dad with so season tickets and that's when USC beat
Stanford as a is A is a forty one point
underdogw which was like I remember because the buzz in
the crowd was was crazy that year and like people

(01:40:06):
were like, you know, this is before you know you
know what? You weren't watching games on your phone, right
and it was just like this buzz, Yeah, I was.

Speaker 2 (01:40:13):
It was Notre Dame.

Speaker 4 (01:40:13):
I was at the Notre Dame game Notre Dame UCLA
the same weekend. I was at the Rose bull for
so I had to buy that weekend. I don't know
why I decided to go to another football game as
a organ football player, but that was the weekend that
Stanford won, and it was the buzz going around the
stadium was like, ho hold what what just happened?

Speaker 2 (01:40:31):
Again?

Speaker 4 (01:40:32):
Stanford was a forty one point underdog on the road
to the Coliseum to a USC team that was getting.
You know, they were on the downslope of Carol's run,
exacerbated by us being them a couple of weeks later
in Eugene. But that was I remember that distinctly. I
was at the Rose Bowl, like everyone's buzz. I can't

(01:40:53):
believe Stanford won that game.

Speaker 3 (01:40:55):
Yeah, that's awesome. That that's that's that's a great game
to be at. Let's say quick too, we'll come back.
Have your number two pencils out. Brain's coming. We're gonna

Speaker 9 (01:42:14):
Brain, good morning. Here are you my friends?

Speaker 3 (01:42:17):
Good buddy, good good good. All right, let's get right
to it. I don't want to waste any time. Jeff
and I will take some turns. We'll start with the
college and they go to the NFL Great college card
Today Texas Tech and Utah the big Nude kickoff on
Fox gets started.

Speaker 9 (01:42:39):
Yeah, great game, Anthony. You know these are I think
the two best teams in the conference. Look, here's the thing.
The line sitting at three and a half. To me,
that's the key. I got the funds you a little
bit closer to two and a half. Three, Anthony, obviously,
being king in college or pro any football, three such
a big number. I like Texas sets here. I think
Texas at covers US a really good chance to win

(01:43:01):
the game. They obviously had such an amazing off season
transfer portal. They put a lot of money into this team.
It makes me a great game. I can't wait to
watch it. Arguably the best game of the day. Back
to Soberfieldal I only could look texta stack.

Speaker 4 (01:43:15):
Another game in the in the Big ten, there's a
couple that are that are big ones. I want to
talk about the night game first here Indiana Illinois. It's
almost got six and a half. Now, I got Indiana
four and four and a half. I just I'm kind
of surprised to see so much on Indiana. What are
your thoughts on this game?

Speaker 9 (01:43:34):
Yeah, yeah, it's so funny to say that, because that's
exactly it was exactly my thoughts. I was really hoping
this line was going to clean a lot lower than
it did because just again, why everyone has numbers and
you go by your numbers. I totally get that respect
that I do as much as anyone. There's also an
element to this where you just have a feel for
what you think each team is, and my feel for

(01:43:56):
this game is that Indiana is just really the better team.
But I was hoping that they were maybe gonna be
there kind of lumped in. Yeah, I think they're gonna
be kind of like lumped much closer than that. But
this line really hashot up if You're absolutely right. It's
up to six and a half, and it opened a
lot lower than that. You know, it opened basically four
and a half in most spots. I still like the

(01:44:18):
Indiana side, though, I just think they are the better team.
I don't think this is going to go back down
the sixth anyone likes it the Indiana side. I would
get in now because I think it's going to go
to seven. In fact, I'm looking on the board a
lot of places already at seven, but I'm on the
Indiana side lane six and a half.

Speaker 2 (01:44:33):
So it's Miami and Florida today.

Speaker 3 (01:44:38):
What a great game tonight Miami rolls South forard. You
and I both like the Canes against South Florida laye twenty,
and now they're playing a Florida team that's desperate that's
on the basically death's door.

Speaker 9 (01:44:55):
They are, Anthony, You're right, but I think they're going
to be arriving at that door.

Speaker 2 (01:45:00):
I too.

Speaker 9 (01:45:01):
Yeah, I hate to say it, but I look, last
week was interesting that to me was the really game
that all right, listen, this has been all hands on
that kind of game.

Speaker 7 (01:45:10):
Man.

Speaker 9 (01:45:10):
Lagwaly just was just really bad. Five interceptions, which was crazy. Yeah,
the LSU was really kind of like completely impotent, and
they still got a very fortunate cover. Here's the thing
with me. For me in this game, it's it's it's
Miami or Pass. I cannot back Florida at all.

Speaker 2 (01:45:28):
Right.

Speaker 9 (01:45:29):
I wish this line was a little lower. Again, if
this line had gone below a touch and I probably
would have bit on Miami seven and a half. So
I'm not going to, but I just I cannot back
this Florida team. I don't like what I see in Miami.
Look there looks to me like this is a team
that's definitely gonna make the playoffs, favorite to win the conference.
To me, it's Miami or Pass.

Speaker 4 (01:45:50):
I want to sneak in under the radar game quickly
before we get to like Nebraska Michigan. So Arkansas is
on the road at Memphis. Kickoff is at twelve o'clock.
Very weird spot for Arkansas. An SEC team on the road.
A group of five team Nordam comes call next week
for Arkansas. They obviously just lost Old Miss on the road.
I like Memphis plus seven and a half? Here, am

(01:46:11):
I crazy?

Speaker 9 (01:46:13):
Well? No, I mean, listen, here's the thing. Arkansas. They
played pretty well last week. I mean, they had a
real chance to win that game. Memphis. The question is
you say to yourself, all right, like schedule wise, like
do you trust what they are? As you said, Anthony,
I mean, Jeff top spot right for Arkansas with like

(01:46:33):
just the scheduling part of it, Lean here to Memphis
for me, Jeff, I agree with your side.

Speaker 4 (01:46:38):
Lean here.

Speaker 9 (01:46:39):
Memphis hasn't bet it because again, for me to bet
this game, I would need personally more than what it's
at right now. On the line is seven. If it
went to seven and a half, maybe, but right now
it's just a lean Memphis. I'm looking forward to watching
that game though, because I agree in Memphis has been
a team that's been this book pretty good.

Speaker 2 (01:47:00):
So far, all right, I can't wait for this one.

Speaker 3 (01:47:04):
And the Brain is a Michigan alum, and so nobody
knows Michigan football like the Brain.

Speaker 2 (01:47:11):
I'm basketball like the Brain.

Speaker 3 (01:47:14):
And now it's Michigan going to Lincoln coach Matt Ruhle
and the Huskers year three of rule three and zero
obviously list two weeks Jach Frond and Houston Christian. So
you know, the step up in competition is pretty obvious here.

(01:47:34):
It is Tilon Rayola. All right, battle the young quarterbacks.
I ballyhoot quarterbacks. Gonna be a good game, buddy.

Speaker 1 (01:47:44):
Who you got?

Speaker 9 (01:47:45):
Yeah, I couldn't agree with you more. It's gonna be
the game. Anthey, the line was sitting at two and
a half and I was on my hands and knees. Three.
Give me a three because I think this gemes to
me very very close. It has gone down the other way.
It's basically sitting at one or one and a half,
which is again I thought the fine should have come
in around a pick. I lean here in Nebraska. I
think the best was the final way to win this game. Look,

(01:48:06):
I back to Michigan against Oklahoma. Wasn't again just watching
the way Michigan their offensive play calling, the lack of receivers.
I just I don't know. I've been very unimpressed with
Michigan on the offensive side of the ball. It's gonna
be a tough game. I expect this game to come
down to the end. If I hadn't gotten three, I
would have loved it. Lean here in Nebraska. I think

(01:48:28):
Michigan Nebraska probably wins a very very close game. I
will predict this game is to side by four points
or less either way.

Speaker 4 (01:48:34):
Auburn Oklahoma three thirty as well. I think those number
is just if you can so fine seven on Alburn.
I'd love to take seven to Auburn.

Speaker 9 (01:48:44):
Yeah, Jeff, once again, I agree with you again here.
You know it's interesting, Jeff, like I took five and a.
I think it was Michigan against Oklahoma, and obviously I
didn't get there. I definitely think this in my opinion,
I think Auburn is better than Michigan. Say Michigan cover
that game, but Arnold, to me, it's looks really solid.

(01:49:05):
And I just you know Oklahoma and I know they vnimals.
There's the only great job as defensive coordinator. They now
have believated that the Heisman trumpsy, you know, leader in
the team, which I just don't personally agree with, but whatever.
I think Alburn has a real chance to win this
game out right, and this game will be very, very tight,
And there are some sevens out there, Jeff, I did

(01:49:27):
bet them plus seven. I think Alburn has a real
good chance to not only keep this game close, but
to win it. I like Auburn getting summary and it
definitely married a play.

Speaker 2 (01:49:37):
Yeah, I did too thought pay closer to four. Yeah,
I'm with you.

Speaker 3 (01:49:43):
I agree, Uh, Missouri against Sellers and the game Cocks,
Missouri laying nine and a half.

Speaker 2 (01:49:54):
I like him.

Speaker 9 (01:49:55):
I mean, it's it's exactly what you said as me
about like Leonora's cellars. Look, you know what's interesting like
if he now like he's listened as probable. Yeah, he's
listened as probable, which is obviously a huge, a huge
thing for this team. But here's the thing in my
opinion so far, watching South Carolina and Jeff and I'm

(01:50:17):
not sure if you agree, they've been one of the
teams I've been most disappointed on. Yeah, watching him if
they've been like absolutely again just extremely blah. I can
I have no interest in back in Top Carolina here.
I just don't like. I haven't seen anything from them

(01:50:37):
that I've liked. Quite frankly, I really haven't. Not cheap,
not cheap at all. But I just have not been
impressed with this team. Minds me nine and a half again,
I would make sure it's not and a half. You
don't full a ten, but to me would be Missouri
or pass. I just don't don't like the South Tonda team.

Speaker 4 (01:50:55):
I don't either the team. For me, by the way,
it's Clemson. I was very high in class. I actually,
you know, I don't know if we have time for
this right now quickly though, I am. I am recalibrating
myself heading in the next season on the returning production
and offense because we have a production a lot as

(01:51:15):
a as a means to like preview obviously, and Clemson
Illinois's offensive line has been bad. They returned all five.
That was a big talking point this year. Remember last
year Oklahoma had the oldest offense, like they were Oklahoma
State oldes. They obviously the Gundy's probably gone at some
point today that coach like I need to recount. I
think we need to to really dive deep into what

(01:51:37):
that actually means, because look, you look at team like Organ.
I was an Organ Duck fan. New quote quote new quarterback,
new left tackle, new left guard, new wide receivers. To me,
it's it's not really about returning production. It's about the
talent on the team. And I got I got bamboozo
by Clemson. I thought the returning production would make this
team better the exact same offense they've been for now

(01:51:58):
for multiple.

Speaker 2 (01:51:58):
Years in a row.

Speaker 9 (01:52:00):
Yeah, Yeah, you make, you make all the simpsonmaras. They're interesting.
My biggest investment, Jeff, before the year in terms of winning,
and I only bet my one team to win national championship.
It was them. I bet, I got in crazy numbers
and I got him plus two fifty to win the ACC.
They closed it like minus one pointy. I bet big
over nine and a half was my biggest over under bet.
But you know what I always say, we choose to

(01:52:22):
be right, we choose to be consistent, and in our world, Jeff,
if you don't choose to be right, you're gonna get
your butt kicked. Before they played Georgia Tech, I bet
under nine and a half. It's very, very big for
their season win. Bet basically was a leasegate. We get
out of at that because I recognized that this was
not the team that I thought they were gonna be.
And you make a very interesting point about their returning starters.
Maybe that shouldn't be the end all be all, because

(01:52:42):
it's talent's more important than who came back, especially if
the team wasn't that great last year.

Speaker 2 (01:52:47):
Yeah, all right, we got to take quick too.

Speaker 4 (01:52:49):
Come back.

Speaker 2 (01:52:50):
M alf ol.

Speaker 3 (01:52:52):
All right, your selections for tomorrow and we'll go We'll
go quick. All right, we got to go quick each game.
We're gonna roll through it. You V Brain, Jeff V Brain.
Next right here, Fellas Fox. All right, welcome back, Fellas.
I'm Anthony, Guard Gad Jeff Schwartz. We are the Fellas

(01:53:14):
every week on Fox Sports Radio, joining us the Brain
as we go through our betting card for the weekend.
NFL time. All right, boys, we're gonna have about six minutes. Okay,
I'm wanna get through every game, so it's gonna be quick.
I'm gonna go to both of you, guys. You're gonna
give me your selections. We start off with the game

(01:53:37):
I love. I like the Vikings delay in two and
a half against Cincinnati.

Speaker 2 (01:53:43):
Jeff does not. Jeff, you are you on sin to that?

Speaker 4 (01:53:46):
I have no play in this game. I have not
made a wager in this game. I'm kno gonna wager
on two backup quarterbacks playing.

Speaker 9 (01:53:54):
All right, uh, Brain, Yeah, Anthony, I agree with you.
It's hard to find those two and a half s
and now, Anthony, gun's basically gone up mostly painted three.
You can get two and a half. I do like
the Vikings. I think kick they have a better roster
and the quarterbacks. Even if I call it even I'm
at home, I've just launched it in closer to three
and a half.

Speaker 2 (01:54:13):
Yeah, I'm with you, all right. Steelers Patriots.

Speaker 3 (01:54:17):
The Steelers are two and a half point favorite on
the road.

Speaker 4 (01:54:23):
I like the Patriots getting two and a half here,
Mike Toman as a road favorite as the least profitable waitcher,
and their defense is atrocious right now. I'm not sure
that the Patriots offense is great at the moment, but
I'm to be able to run the ball on the
Steelers here. I like the Patriots getting two and a
half brain.

Speaker 9 (01:54:41):
Yeah, Jeff, I agree with what you said. It's like
like the Steelers defense. Again, we have to adjust on
what we think versus what is. Who the heck could
the Steelers be laying two points in this game? I don't.
I don't understand that. I thought the Patriot should have
been tiny favorite.

Speaker 4 (01:54:52):
I think.

Speaker 2 (01:54:54):
Yeah. I think Patriots win the game.

Speaker 9 (01:54:57):
Like the Patriots and Cheezers quite a bit.

Speaker 2 (01:54:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:55:00):
Colts Tennessee, Danny Dimes, I love Tennessee in the game, though,
I'll tell you right.

Speaker 4 (01:55:06):
I have wagered on Tennessee plus four and a half.
So I was like a cloud NFL class and NFL
spot here right, two and oh team, Yeah, all the
hype against it, but now that the Titans though kind
of stinked Brad, But I like the Titans. This is
a great NFL spot.

Speaker 2 (01:55:21):
I love Cam. I'm a camp faan.

Speaker 9 (01:55:23):
I root for Himyah, I bet I bet this Jeff
as well, plus four and a half. Everything that you said, everyone,
you know, the Colts have looked so good. I get it,
But I think, actually, I think the Titans win the game.
Straight up. I thought the Flying should have been closer
to three personally in my ratings, So I like, I
think any just get a little bit too much respect here.

Speaker 3 (01:55:42):
Yep, Jaggs laying one and a half to the Texans.

Speaker 2 (01:55:46):
Tough game.

Speaker 4 (01:55:47):
Houston plus I had plus two is my best bet
of the weekend. I oh and two team like desperate
for a winner. If they lose this game and the
Colts win their three back at three weeks in division,
I need to say kitchen sink game for Houston. I
just don't trust Trevor Lawrence either, So I got Houston
plus two.

Speaker 9 (01:56:07):
Yeah. For me, it's I lean Jacksonville, but not a
game I'm betting. Uh, I think Jacksonville is actually the
better team. I can't. I just Houston's offense to MESSI
to pass.

Speaker 2 (01:56:16):
I would lean Jacksonville too.

Speaker 3 (01:56:19):
Atlanta lay in five and a half on the road
to Carolina. I think Carolina just stinks and I like Atlanta,
but I'm not anxious to lay the points.

Speaker 4 (01:56:31):
I can only bet one ugly dog of the week.
I took the Titans, so I would take the Panthers probably,
But I have yeahs on this one.

Speaker 9 (01:56:39):
All right, Yeah, this is this is one of these games.
To me, I wouldn't bet this with with my biggest enemies.
Money just to me is exactly where iBOT. To me,
it's the game that's passed.

Speaker 3 (01:56:48):
Eagles Rams a rematch of the playoffs last year. Great matchup,
Eagles laying three and a half.

Speaker 4 (01:56:55):
Jeff Yeah, every Joe Schmoe, who I think it's terrible
at gambling is on the Rams, and so I think
I have to take the Eagles.

Speaker 9 (01:57:04):
I have.

Speaker 4 (01:57:05):
I mean, I took the Eagles in my contest. I
just it's more of just a fate of every single
person saying the Rams. Do you know the Rams almost
won this game?

Speaker 2 (01:57:12):
A year ago. So I have the Eagles minus three
and a half.

Speaker 9 (01:57:17):
Yeah, Joe, I'm gonna I'm Jeff, I'm gonna go the
other way. I'm gonna be one of those Joish Mosen. Actually,
but I will see this And I know you know
a lot of the people in this industry, Jeff, A
lot of people who I do respect. You know more
someone line you'll but four four and a half, but
are on the rams. I thought this line should have
been a stone cold three. To me, it's rams are passed.

Speaker 3 (01:57:35):
Take aj Brown over catches, over reactions. They're going They're
going to heavy to a J Brown.

Speaker 4 (01:57:45):
Every person I fade is on the rams, though. Oh
it worries me. Man, Jeff, go aj go aj Brown.
Trust me, he did last week. I love a bunch
of catches. No yards though, but a bunch of cats,
no listen. And Manuel Forbes all right, he will torch
are Manuel four. The Eagles pass game is under scrutiny.
