Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio. You know, I'm
not one to make excuses to the last thing I
want to do, But maybe somebody might have a little
bit of a gripe, Right, maybe somebody's got a little
bit of a gripe in the world of football. We'll
get into that for you coming up here in just
a couple of moments from now, Jonas Knox, Fox Sports Radio.
You can listen to this show as always on the
(00:22):
iHeartRadio app. You can always find us on hundreds of
affiliates all across the country, and we are going to
take you all the way up until four pm Eastern time,
one o'clock Pacific here on this Saturday, and we have
got college football to discuss, because you know, I'm not
(00:44):
one of these people that's going to make some excuses.
I'm not going to come on here and talk about, well,
you know, they were put in a bad spot or
they were put I'm just gonna kind of kick around
an idea, right, Maybe this is an idea as to
why something looks the way that it looks. If you
watched the pregame festivities on Big Noon kickoff and you
(01:05):
saw the fans in Utah in Salt Lake City, welcoming
in my buddy, Brady Quinn and the gang, the barstool guys,
all that entire crew. You saw the way that the
scene played out, even had class act Brady Quinn making
a soaking joke before the game. Real class act that
(01:27):
guy is. I don't know where he got that sort
of material from. But the point is, like you see
the way that they are presented. You see the fan base,
you see it is as wild of a pregame show
that's ever been on any network. They were getting after it.
And then the game starts and there are five turnovers
(01:49):
in the first half. A little bit of sloppy in
both directions, right, you got fumbles by Utah Texas Tech
has thrown interceptions, You've got you know, roughing the kicker
that led to a rec it just looks sloppy. And
I'm just throwing this out there, all right. The game
did kick off at ten o'clock local time in the morning.
(02:10):
I'm just pointing that out, all right. This is not
me being one of these Ohio State fans, these cry
babies who bitch you moan every time Ohio State's got
to play in the big noon window. Like, it's not fair.
We want night games. It's not fair. Why don't you
get your lazy ass up, have a couple of beers,
go enjoy the game, and you've got your entire day
(02:33):
ahead of afterwards. Okay, it's not all that bad. I
could do this for you. Ask anybody else that lives
on the West Coast what it's like to watch the
NFL on Sundays. It's awesome. Games kickoff at ten. Late
window games are at one o'clockish, and then you're good.
(02:55):
Imagine what it's like in Hawaii. Games kick off at seven.
Late games are a ten. You got the entire day
ahead of you. So I'm not gonna be one of
these Ohio State fans that cries and complaints because you're
taking away a night game and the advantage and all that.
I'm just pointing out this. If anybody's wondering while they're
(03:15):
watching the first half of the game to watch in
the early window of college football today, If anybody's wondering
exactly why Utah and exactly why you've got Texas Tech
looking the way they do, I'm just pointing it out.
(03:36):
Ten am local time kickoff. That's all all right? The
fan base is ready for it, the students are ready
for it. Utah Texas Tech maybe not so much. Just
pointing that out Jonas Knox he or Fox Sports Radio.
Now that being said, Dabo Switty earlier this week went
(03:56):
on a little bit of a rant, all right. He
went on a little bit of a rant it because
you know, he's heard a lot of the conversations about
Clemson and how they've looked. You know, there was preseason
buzz they lose early on to LSU at home. But
it's like, hey, listen, elius U's a good team. It's
week one. You know, we were on the air last
(04:19):
week they lost to Georgia Tech. We've just you've kind
of they just haven't looked the way that everybody expected
them to look. It just hasn't looked good, just pure
and simple, hasn't looked good. And so you're seeing you know,
Clemson struggle. You're seeing Kid klub Nick, who was a
dark horse, potential Heisman candidate. You've seen that sort of
(04:40):
go off the rails a little bit. And so people
are wondering, what's the problem, what is going on with Clemson?
And so Dabo Swinney spoke earlier this week about the
criticism he's received, and it sounded like this, if they.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
Tired of winning, they can send me only way because
that's all we've done is win. So if they tire winning,
we've had. We've won this league eight out of the last
ten years.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
Is that not good? I'm just asking is that good?
I don't know if that's good or not?
Speaker 2 (05:07):
To win your league eight out of ten years, To
go to the playoffs seven out of ten years, being
four national championships and went twice. Yeah, we little down right.
Now take your shots. But I got a long memory
in case y'all don't.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
Know, we'll be all right. We'll bounce back.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
This is a program built to last, always has been,
always will be.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
And I would just say, if you give up on.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
Us after if you don't believe on us, because we've
lost two games down to the last trade and we're wanting.
You didn't believe in us anyway, so it don't matter.
You wasn't all in anyway. If you all in, you
burn the ships.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
Man.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
You ain't no, there ain't no exit strategy like you're
freaking all in. And hey, listen, I mean Cumpson's tired
of winning. They send me on my way, but I'm
gonna go somewhere else, and coach, I ain't going to
the beach. Hell, I'm fifty five. I got a long
way to go. Y'all gonna have to deal with me
for a while. I had a long way to go.
I'm just getting going. I'm just now good enough to
be a head coach.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
That right, there is a motivated guy, and that right,
there's a motivated guy who's got a team who's no
doubt going to be motivated. You hear that earlier this week.
If you're in that Clemson locker room, you're like, you
know what, damn right, coach, damn right, And you know what,
We're gonna make an example out of the next opponent
we got. And that next opponent we got is Syracuse
and we're seventeen and a half point favorites, and we're
(06:20):
going to run it up on him. We're going to
run it up on him. That's motivation. Uh, Clemson's down
ten and a half to Syracuse at home. I mean,
you know, listen, and I'm not taking delight in this,
all right. I'm not trying to poke fun at Dabo
(06:41):
Sweaty forgiving that impassioned speech about all this good. Listen,
here's the reality, because there's a couple of realities. Everything
that he said is factual. I can remember being out
in South Carolina covering college football when Dabo Swy he
first got there. I can remember working out there. I
(07:03):
remember the discussions about Daboswiney. I remember, oh, here we go,
just same old, same old. I don't want to say
that Clemson was a laughing stock back then, but Clemson
really wasn't taking all that serious. You want to know
how I know? After they announced the firing of Tommy Bowden,
a guy called into a local news station in Clemson,
(07:26):
South Carolina, called into the news station because he wanted
to get on the air because they were taking calls
over the air on TV back then. And the guy
broke down sobbing that he didn't know what they were
going to do because they had just let go of
Tommy Bowden all right now. That guy was pulling a gag.
(07:49):
That was an act. Do you want to know how
I know that because I worked with that guy. He
was at the radio station with us. He doesn't even
know sports. Nobody took Clemson serious, like nobody like he
called in he sobbed. You can probably still find the
clip on YouTube. I know the guy, I'm friends with them,
I work to them. Guy knew nothing about sports. He
(08:11):
just saw it as an opportunity to bust somebody's balls
because nobody took him serious. Nobody cared. Dabo Swinny has
gotten there. It is the greatest era of Clemson football
that they've ever seen. They've won a national title before,
I get it, blah blah, and they've had great players before.
They've never had this level of success ever ever, So
(08:35):
you should probably cut Dabo Swinny a little bit more slack.
You should probably maybe a look, you know, if people
want him out of there, be careful what you wish for.
We've seen that before. I mean, ask Nebraska fans if
they still want bo Polini out of the building because
they couldn't wait to get rid of bo Polini. He
had to go, he had to leave. We got to
(08:56):
get rid of this guy. And then you look back,
you go, huh, tell me that wasn't all that bad.
And Matt Rule feels like there's some momentum there. It
feels like there's some optimism there. They got a game
against Michigan. It feels like Matt Rule's got him heading
in the right direction. But it is one of those things.
Be careful what you wish for, all right, that's reality
(09:18):
number one. Here's reality number two. You can only pull
that be careful what you wish for card so many
times before it kind of, you know, overstays it to
welcome a little bit, much like many people are saying
Daboswiney has. You can't go out and pull that card
(09:39):
already out of the gates and then have your team
go out and trail by ten at halftime to a
team that you were favored to beat by seventeen and
a half. I'm sorry. Oh and by the way, at home,
I'm sorry. You can only pull that card so many
times before. People are like, yeah, yeah, we've heard this before.
(10:02):
And here's the thing. You've heard this before from Davoswiney.
He was one of the most outspoken coaches about NIL
and the new player era, and this is, you know,
this new player empowerment era. It's not like he was
one of the most vocal guys about all that. He
said things similar to this before about well, you know
(10:25):
I know that things have aluka, but here let me
remind you what we've He's now gone to the well
a lot of times. And the fact that he went
to the well again and they came out in the
first half and they're trailing by ten at home to
a team they were projected to beat by almost three touchdowns.
That's not great. That's not great. That tells me that
(10:49):
there's something else going on there. It was like Ben
Roethlisberger before he actually retired. Ben Roethlisberger like three four
times in the years leading up to his retire Iron
kind of hinted around like, I don't know, maybe I
should just retire. I mean, if I'm not good enough anymore,
maybe I should just retire. And it's like, okay, Well,
if you're already sort of projecting that and kind of
(11:11):
throwing that out there, that's not great. And so I'm
not saying Dabos Swinny should be fired. I'm not saying
he should leave. I'm not he shouldn't. He has enjoyed
the greatest era of football in the history of Clemson.
There's never been an era like this. And I'll tell
you this right now, if you were to walk away,
he would get gobbled up in a minute. And I'll
(11:33):
tell you exactly where he'd go. Alabama. Alabama. He's a
Crimson Tide. He played there, he won a national title
under Gene Stallings in the nineties. He played there. He's
an Alabama guy through and through. They would hire him
up in a heartbeat if they decided to move on
from Kaitlin de boor.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
So.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
I'm not saying any of that should happen, because I
do think you should appreciate the era of football the
Daboswitty has provided. You should. But when you start going
to the well this many times with the well, if
I'm not good enough, you should just move on, at
some point that's gonna overstay its welcome, and I'm just
wondering if it already has with them trailing at halftime
(12:14):
to Syracuse days after he made that impassioned speech at
the Jonas Knox on X. At the Jonas Knox on X,
by the way, you can follow along on Instagram as

speaking and be careful what you wish for. There are

hard way things are a little bit different than they expected.
Find out who they are right here on FSR.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
He's not that depressed, guys, get it together. Jonas knocks
here on Fox Sports Radio. Coming out here a little
over ten minutes from now, we are going to hand
out an award on this show. A lot of people
are really selfish in the world of sports media, not
us the official odd couple side piece. That's right, I'm
(13:56):
a little moist right now, all right, So we will
be handing out an award. I'm a little moist right now,
teach FG game of the Week will be yours here
again a little over ten minutes from now here on FSR. So,
so one of the uh, let's say, listen, that's accepted
these days, right, So I will not I will not
(14:17):
criticize anybody who got a tissue for me, definitely, all right.
So that being said, it is kind of interesting when
you see sort of how things have played out after
the fact, right, And I'm not this is not a
critique on either of these guys. This is not a
(14:37):
critique on so much their decision, because I think in
the career path that is being a head coach or
wanting to be a head coach in the NFL, you've
got to make choices, right. And so I'm watching kind
of what's going on around the NFL, and I'm looking
at the team that was purged of their assistant coaches
(14:59):
this recent offseason, and that team was the Detroit Lions,
and I'm looking at sort of that team and I'm going,
all right, So they lose their offensive coordinator and they
lose their defensive coordinator. They come out, they struggle against
Green Bay. They looked great last week, and I'm like,
(15:21):
all right, Well, you know, as opposed to focusing on
the Lions, which a lot of people want to do,
much like when Nick Sirianni lost his top assistance when
the Eagles lost that first Super Bowl of the Chiefs,
you know, his his offensive coordinator, his defensive coordinator left,
Stiching Gannon went elsewhere, Like you know, everyone wanted to
focus on what happens now with the Eagles, like what's
(15:44):
going to go on now with the Eagles? And it
I mean, we went down the road of Nick Sirianni
is he's on the hot seat, and there was potentially
he was going to get fired, and you know Bill
Belichick's available, they would make the move to Belichie. I mean,
that was a wild time and that time was not
that long ago, and a lot of the discussion was, well, yeah,
(16:06):
can he do it without his coordinators? Can he do so?
As opposed to taken that approach with Dan Campbell and
the Lions, let's go ahead and let's check in on
how things are going with the coordinators that did leave. Oops, man,
(16:26):
they suck. Ben Johnson is now the head coach of
the Chicago Bears. All right, now, we've got plenty on
that coming up later on. There's all sorts of stuff
that has come out of there that is apparently an issue.
But Ben Johnson is the head coach of the Chicago Bears.
Ben Johnson has learned early on, Yeah, there's issues here,
(16:48):
and they're not Caleb Williams, Okay, I know that everybody
wants to paint it as that. It's a lot easier.
You don't have to do a deep dive, you don't
have to add nuance to the discussion. Let's just focus
on the quarterback. No, no, there's problems. It's a clown show,
all right. The other clown show in the NFL happens
(17:09):
to be where Aaron Glenn decided to go coach, and
that would be the New York Jets. And this season
is already shaping up exactly what you would expect it
to be. With the New York Jets. They were really
competitive in Week one. You can argue should have won
that game against Pittsburgh, you can argue, man, that game
(17:30):
was in the bag. And furthermore, they did it with
the quarterback that the Steelers didn't want. They did it
with Justin Fields, ironically, the quarterback the Bears didn't even want.
(17:50):
And this is such a Jets season that what happened next?
They lost on a sixty yard field goal, They played
the Bills next week, got knifed, and then Justin Field's
got hurt. Now Tyrod Taylor starting at quarterback, they were
a sixty yard fieldal away from this season looking completely
(18:15):
different through the first couple of weeks, completely different. Even
if they went out and got blown out by Buffalo
last we could be like emotional letdown. They got really
worked up over the first game. But hey, new culture,
new time, new era. The Jets are back. Oh yeah,
they're back, and they look just like they always do.
Same with the Bears. And it does go to a
(18:36):
larger question that a lot of people didn't really want
to have at the time because they just wanted to
point to, ooh, what happens to the Lions, much like ooh,
what happens to the Eagles when they lose their coordinators?
How about this? How about when everybody's raving about the
hiring of Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn and everyone's talking
(18:57):
about how great they are, and oh my god, this
is what you know, what a what a successful hire.
And Aaron Glenn's a former Jet and he's gonna come
right in. And Ben Johnson's the bell of the ball,
so to speak, and he's the one that everybody wants
and you know, the Bear's got him and nobody else did.
Here was a question that I asked at the time.
(19:17):
Are they bringing the players with them? I'm just wondering, like,
if you're Aaron Glenn, are you gonna be able to
bring Aiden Hutchinson with you? You're you gonna be able
to bring some of those players? Can they come to
Oh they can't? Okay, Ben Johnson? Can he bring that
offensive line with him? Can he bring Pinney Suel and
(19:40):
those guys? Can he bring David Montgomery? Well, he actually
wouldn't have to bring David Montgomery because David Montgomery was
a Bear, But now they.
Speaker 4 (19:46):
Didn't need him.
Speaker 1 (19:47):
Why would they need him? Come on, what about Jamir Gibs,
what about Amara Saint Brown? What about are they bringing them?
Because if they're not, it kind of looks a little
bit different, and so this is not so much a well,
you know, Dan Campbell deserves all this credit, and it
was no, no, no, no like this. If you were one of
(20:09):
those people that believes it's all about the Jimmy's and
the Joe's, not the x's and the o's, this is
exhibit A as to why you point to that. This
is exhibit A because yes, Aaron Glenn, the Jets got
their guy. That's the guy they wanted. The problem is
(20:29):
Aaron Glenn didn't get his guys because they couldn't come
with him. Ben Johnson. Yes, the Bears got their guy.
That's the guy they wanted. That's the guy a lot
of teams wanted. The problem is he didn't get his guys.
And so if you want to look at gosh, well
what's with the struggle there? And maybe no, no, no, no,
(20:51):
this is not that surprising, not just because it's the
Bears and the Jets and this is what we're used to, like,
this is how this has looked, but because what made
those guys great, what helped make them great in their
roles with the Lions, was the fact that they had
really good players. Brad Holmes has done a really good
(21:13):
job building that roster. Dan Campbell's done a really good
job building a culture there. I'm not saying it's not
gonna work with Ben Johnson in Chicago. I'm not saying
it's not gonna work with Aaron Glenn in New York.
But it's gonna take time until they get their guys.
They didn't bring them with them, And if you take
(21:36):
a step back and then look at the situation, maybe
you start to feel a little bit differently about how
hyped everybody was about the additions of both. Again, not
saying they're not gonna work, I'm just saying there's a
lot of work to do, especially if you can't bring
those guys that help make them successful with them to
where they are now at the Jonas Knox on X

(22:21):
We are going to hand out an award coming up
next here on the show, but for all the latest
from around the world of sports, ladies and gentlemen. Speaking
of awards, this man's got so many you don't even
know where to put them. You don't even know where
to put them. That's actually true. I mean it's unbelievable.
Even in there, I got to put some in there.
I mean, it's just unbelievable the accomplishments that he has
(22:44):
come up with. He's like Jordan Addison with mini bottles. Nonetheless,
we turn it over to the one and only, the
magnificent Sir Isaac Low and Cross.
Speaker 3 (22:55):
Speaking of awards, it is award worthy the way that
you have your proverbial finger on the pulse of sports.
Because everything that you have talked about over the first
half hour of this award eligible radio program.
Speaker 1 (23:18):
Oh, that's insulting. It's not trigonometry. Way, that was rude,
you know what. That's just saying I'm eligible for one.
I'm just not gonna win one. That's rude, you know, accurate.
That just that just bypassed my brain completely. It went
I'm sorry, I just listen, I'm not I don't take
(23:38):
a fence.
Speaker 3 (23:39):
It went from my It went from my primal limbic
system directly past my brain and out the gullet. Anyway,
that being said, what I was trying to say before
my true feelings were exposed. Sorry, all right, So you've
talked about so far the Bears, the Jets, and Clemson,
and we have fresh details on all three of your
(24:01):
top stories. NFL Media reports the Bears placing cornerback Jalen
Johnson on injured reserve due to a groin injury, so
he'll miss at least the next four weeks. The New
York Jets ruled out safety Tony Adams for Sunday's game
at Tampa Bay due to a hip injury. Now, Jonas
onto Clemson football. They trail at home to Syracuse at
(24:23):
halftime twenty four to fourteen. It's the first time that
Clemson is trailed by double digits in three straight games
in thirteen years. Now, the latest development, they are in
a weather delay of a minimum of half an hour
because there is lightning within an eight mile radius of
(24:45):
the stadium.
Speaker 1 (24:46):
And Jonas, I know September football, September football. I love
light as long as somebody gets hit by it. I mean,
just get I mean, you know, just get close to one,
just so we have, you know, at least some singed
clothing kind of where we're going with this, because just
like you, Jonas, was that the hawk Tua girl? Sorry,
(25:06):
let's pub a woman, all right.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
Rob Parker getting a lot of exposure today. By the way,
he'll be done, he'll be downloading this podcast. I'll guarantee
you are.
Speaker 1 (25:20):
You saying Rob loves him some Rob Knack, I.
Speaker 3 (25:23):
Love I love myself some me. Uh so I wouldn't
doubt it. Hey, you know what a download is a download?
Speaker 1 (25:30):
Jonas?
Speaker 3 (25:30):
You know that, Yeah, I mean, it doesn't matter who's
downloading it, it doesn't matter why, just that they're downloading it.
Speaker 1 (25:36):
Period.
Speaker 3 (25:36):
But just like you, Jonas, Clemson has a faithful following
on social media. So in light of this weather delay,
here are some reactions from the Clemson faithful. At Prime
Noah twenty four posting quote even God doesn't want to
watch us play football at all? At no Bev one
(25:59):
two two seven posting mother nature is sickened by Clemson football.
And finally at Anthony Bially posting quote, move your college
somewhere lightning free unquote. Oh Anthony Bally with a healthful suggestion. However,
jonas the delay not distracting others from weighing in on
(26:22):
the state of Clemson's play on the field. At eighty
one Tiger s sixteen commenting, quote fire everyone, the entire staff,
down to the water boys. I didn't know the water
boys were responsible for what was going on the field,
but what ebbs, Yeah, what did they do wrong?
Speaker 4 (26:39):
I know?
Speaker 1 (26:40):
And then at Clemson fan three point twenty two commenting
again and I quote it not twenty nineteen anymore, Dabbo
is washed and isn't gonna bring us back to the
mountain tip unquote, not the mountain top, the mountain tip unquote.
Your thoughts, well, I mean, I think that's you know,
(27:01):
that's probably correct. I don't know how many people actually
want to stand on the tip of a mountain though.
That feels dangerous. It does feel dangerous. I mean I was.
I was looking at this though, because I thought, all right, well,
there's a weather delay there, Because again I lovet I
remember being at a South Carolina Georgia game where there
was a lightning delay of ninety minutes, so they just
made everybody stay in the parking lot before the game,
(27:22):
and people just got blistered as if they hadn't been already.
Oh god, it was. That was really really enjoyable. But
I was looking at Clemson to see whether or not
they sold alcohol at games now, and they did start
this year. And I've got a couple of issues with this.
First off, it says Clemson staff and vendors may not
(27:43):
serve beer, wine, or liquor to anyone under the age
of twenty one. How do you think that worked out? Yeah,
I mean, you know, that a little flawed, especially at
a college on a college campus. That feels a little flawed.
Speaker 3 (27:56):
Also, only people from southern California will know this, nolge.
Have you ever been to MacArthur Park?
Speaker 1 (28:03):
Uh? Yeah, that's the it's in l A, Right.
Speaker 3 (28:06):
Okay, what do you mean you you barely know what?
All right, we're gonna have.
Speaker 1 (28:10):
To have I know, I know it from the movie
Training Day, Okay, where they were he he stopped the
girl from being assaulted by the two homeless guys in MacArthur.
Speaker 3 (28:21):
P Well, for people around the country, mccoiler alert. MacArthur
Park is allegedly where people can procure illegitimate identification for tailiating.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
Person Oh no, No, that's that's Alvarado Street. Is that
near MacArthur Park? Yeah, it actually is, okay, yeah, no
Alvarado Street. Yeah. I've talked about it before. I had
a buddy who paid to get a fake I d
that was not me, but hey, who paid to get
a fake ID? And when you when you do that,
you just take what you get. And uh and and
(28:53):
I and I swear to God on this, I put
this on everything. I'm not embellishing this story. This is
one hundred percent true. The name on his idea that
he got back was Alfred Hitchcock. I swear to God.
So when he would try to get into bars, would
he say evening? No? So so the guy would He
(29:13):
told me a story a guy looked at his ID
and started laugh and shoot him away, And he said,
what's so funny? And he guilted the guy into letting
him in because he pointed to listen, Man, I don't know,
it's my parents. You know, I've had to deal with
this my entire life, blah blah blah. And I said,
all right, you know, I'll take your word. He's all,
do you think I'd choose to have this name? It
is what it is my friends don't call me that,
(29:35):
but it is on my ID. He's okay, that's fine,
I'll let you in. But yeah, like you know, bouncer
really had a soft heart. It fuck you know, but
I did notice this. I wonder if that bar had
a rear window in hin Clemson at their football games.
It also says no service will be permitted to anybody
who was visibly intoxicated. How do you think that's working out? Again?
(29:58):
Like you know what I mean? Like, I feel like
Clemson was really quick to jump on this with that
really being realistic about the rules of engagement when it
came to booze the stadium. Yeah, that's all. It's good
in theory.
Speaker 3 (30:10):
I don't think that you can find this sort of
analysis anywhere in the country in sports talk radio, and
I think it's it's important and effective for listeners out
there in their daily lives. Finally, I'll duck in some
more scores. The road teams are having great games so far.
Jonas Arkansas up thirty one to twenty at Memphis four
minutes left in the third quarter. Number seventeen Texas Tech
(30:33):
leading at sixteenth ranked Utah ten to three with five
minutes left. In the third quarter. Maryland has a twenty
to three lead at Wisconsin with four minutes left to
play in the third quarter. And again, as we said,
Syracuse and Clemson still in that rain blay at halftime
with Syracuse up twenty four to fourteen.
Speaker 1 (30:51):
I'll see it MacArthur park later. Jonas all right, thanks, Alfred.
It is Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports RADS. Do
you even get did you even get the rear window analogy? Uh?
Kind of? All right, that's fine, I'll take that, yeah,
kind of. I would like to say this. We are
a show here. We are going to have a do
You Care coming up in about ten minutes from now,
(31:12):
but we are a show here that doesn't like to
leave the quote unquote other ones out of the discussion.
There's a lot of people talking about these big time
matchups in the NFL this weekend, so we have something
on the show that we do called our TGFG Game
of the Week. It's sort of an ode to back
in the day when HD first came out. If you
watch the NFL Sunday Ticket, there was always one game
(31:35):
that didn't make it to HD. It was in Standard
DEF because nobody cared about it. So this is sort
of an ode to that, but a modern day ode
to that. It's called the TGFG Game of the Week,
and the TGFG Game of the Week this week goes too.
The Saints said Seahawks. Yeah see, I told you the
Saints and m Seahawks. Seattle a seven and a half
(31:58):
point favorite. This is a four to zero five pm
Eastern time kickoff, and you're probably looking at this going,
how could you put the Seattle Seahawks in this? They
just won a huge game at Pittsburgh last week. Let's
be honest. If not for a major air on kickoff
in which a guy just completely forgot the rules of kickoff,
then maybe that game looks a little bit different. And
(32:20):
if you're the New Orleans Saints, everybody knew that going
into the season you were gonna be awful. But I
kind of feel bad for Spencer Rattler, my South Carolina
game cock, Spencer Rattler, who hasn't been that bad and
has never won a game starting at quarterback in the
NFL in his career, and so he goes on the road,
He's got to take on Seattle. It's not like Sam
(32:42):
Darnold's light in the league. On fire. It's not like
Seattle's this dominating team. There's probably a reason they're sitting
at the four h five window. But congratulations. If you
thought anybody was forgetting about you Saints and Seahawks, we weren't.
There's gonna be a lot of throwback packages to when
the Saints went into Seattle and Marshawn Lynch had that
big run. There's gonna be a lot of throwbacks to
(33:03):
the good old days a decade ago. But those good
old days are long gone. Saints Seahawks. That is your
TGFG game of the Week, your thank God for gambling
game of the week because of not for gambling. Who's
watching this mess? By the way, speaking of games, this
isn't just a game. It's a once in a generation event,
(33:25):
the Harlem Globe Trotter's one hundred Year Tour. Come be
a part of a legacy that never stops. Be there
when history is made. The Harlem Globetrotters one hundred Year Tour.
Get your tickets today at Harlem globetrotters dot com. Coming
up next here on the show, we are going to
have another edition of Do You Care? And It's yours
right here on f SR Brian Finley is a porn star.
(33:50):
Here's the problem. I've got a bunch of hooligans on
the show or trying to try and force me into
saying something inappropriate. I will man that few. Jonas Knox here,
Fox Sports Radio, coming up top of X Tower, we
(34:10):
are going to check in. We are going to get
a live update, if you will, as to the mess
that came out of nowhere this year in the world
of football. That'll be yours here on FSR. We are
going to have that for you again coming up here
a little over ten minutes from now Again. You can
(34:31):
follow along on Instagram at Jonas Knox Show. You can
also tweet into the show at the Jonas Knox and look,
we'll let you know all the insulting innuendos that are
sent over. All of that will be either reposted on
X probably not because they're way too much, or they'll
be sent over on the Instagram page. So all that
can be yours there on Fox Sports Radio here throughout
(34:52):
the course of this two hour extravaganza. Right now, though,
it is time for something we do every single week,
and it's called this.
Speaker 4 (34:58):
There's so many story in the world of sports and
most of them are a complete waste of time.
Speaker 1 (35:04):
DMS reports.
Speaker 4 (35:06):
Let's get kinky. Here's some of the big stories from
the last week. But Jonas, the real question is do
you care?
Speaker 1 (35:14):
And for that we turn it over to our executive
producer Bo Benson to find out what the hell has
been going on. Bo. And by the way, but I
just want to point this out. I don't know what
it is, but for some reason this week, you're in
a much better mood. Oh, I don't know why that is.
Speaker 6 (35:26):
Hey, you know, just had a strong week here at
Fox Sports Radio and.
Speaker 1 (35:30):
Like you don't like to you know, like it's sunny out. Yeah,
the dark clouds, yeah.
Speaker 6 (35:34):
Yeah, crazy. The rain does not exist in my world.
One reason to be sad though, Clayton Kershaw took the
mound to Dodger Stadium last night for what's probably the
final time, Jonas, do you care?
Speaker 1 (35:49):
Not? Really? If I'm being honest with you, I will
say this. I mean that definitely wasn't a strike. But
he could have hit Raphael Devers and they would have
called it a strike. So I look at it and
I go, it was a nice send off. You know,
his wife very emotional and all that. But the bottom
(36:11):
line is right now, the bottom line is it's not
exactly like it's his last appearance. I mean, he's going
to be pitching again. He'll probably be pitching in the postseason,
and so we're going to get to see him and
then and then when he decides that that's it and
he's walking away, then I think everybody can sort of
take a step back and go, Wow, he was pretty fantastic,
spent his entire career here, one of the greats of
(36:32):
this era. There's a lot of people that are going
to point to the playoff failures and all that, whatever
the case, may be one of the all time greats.
He's going to be a Hall of Famer and a
hell of a run. So I didn't get too emotionally
invested because I know we're going to see him again next.
Speaker 6 (36:47):
A poll of twenty five NFL scouts and executives listed
South Carolina's Leonoris Sellers is the top quarterback in the
twenty twenty six NFL Draft, ahead of LSU's Garrett Nusmeyer.
Jonas do you care, No, I don't care.
Speaker 1 (36:59):
I don't care about it. Let me tell you why,
because I think last year and it was pointed out
by Pete Damil in the article he did that last
year after I think Week six. It might have been
even earlier than that that. If you ask the same
question to NFL scouts and general managers, they all had
Shid or Sanders ahead of cam Ward. So it's like, dude,
(37:20):
we got a lot of games left, We've got conference games,
we've got the biggest games on the biggest stages coming up,
and we've seen quarterbacks rocking up the charts because of
what they've done in those big moments in those big games.
So for me, this isn't a lot to do with
anything that's happening with these current quarterbacks is not a
critique on them. I'm just going to reserve the right
(37:41):
to wait, like I think most people should.
Speaker 6 (37:43):
Next, Italian rapper Fades, I'm not surying to say it.
He apologized for lyrics in a song that said tennis
star Yannick Center speaks with Adolf Hitler's accent, jonas, do
you care?
Speaker 1 (38:01):
Yeah? You know, like there's just some there's some names
and words that probably uh probably aren't a compliment when
they're uh when they're applied to you, you know, And
I would say that that Hitler is one of those names,
you know, like that's you know. I feel like some
people should say exactly what it is that they're thinking
(38:23):
out loud. But just say it to a close friend
before you say it in front of millions or billions
of people, and just see what your close friend says.
Can I be honest with you, I'm a whore. If
your close friend tells you, yeah, that's ill advised. You
shouldn't say it. If your friend says no, I think
you should compare him to Hitler. I think I think
that'll work out for you. They're not a close friend anymore.
(38:43):
You gotta move on.
Speaker 6 (38:45):
Next, The Indiana Fever Sands Caitlin Clark ended their playoff
series Drought with a win over The Dream to take
their first series since twenty fifteen. Jonas, do you care?
Speaker 1 (38:53):
Oh God, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no no. And as a matter of fact, if you
tuned in to get our thoughts, a breakdown and analysis
of the WNBA, you can tune right on out. That's
not happening on this show. Next.
Speaker 6 (39:09):
Jack in the Box has launched their Halloween themed offerings,
highlighted by a monster Taco which looks like a much
much larger version of their regular delicious tacos. They also
have a monster Mazirella stick. I think it's like six
inches long. Jon't As, do you care.
Speaker 1 (39:23):
I'm not touching that, like legitimately and literally, I'm not
touching that. I'll see emphasize d I don't. I don't
think I've ever had jack in a box sober like,
now that I'm thinking about it, I don't think I've
once ever had jack in a box sober. So I
have no idea whether or not their food's good. I
swear to God, I have no recollection. You know, if
(39:44):
you're looking around, there are some things to be concerned about,
and then there's some things you probably shouldn't concern yourself
with in the world of football, because that's just kind
of how this goes. We'll explain what that is coming
up here in just a couple of moments from now,
Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio. You can hang out with
us as always on the iHeartRadio app. You can find
(40:06):
us on hundreds of affiliates all across the country, and
we are going to take you all the way up
until the end of this hour here on this Saturday afternoon.
We have got all things college football going on. You
got the game of the early window, which is Texas
Tech and a thirteen to three lead over Utah fourth quarter,
under eleven minutes left to go there, and look, it's
(40:27):
been a sloppy game, right, I was making the point earlier.
I don't know. Maybe it is the early kick you know,
maybe the ten am kickoff might have affected these teams
because everybody's turning the ball over. They had five turnovers
between the two of them before halftime. It just, you know,
kind of sloppy. But I also think that you're these
(40:48):
teams and you're not as spoiled as maybe somebody like
an Ohio State is to where Ohio State and the
fan base looks at big noon kickoff is more of
an obstacle than an actual opportunity, to where they complain
about the start time, we want night games, we want this,
it's not fair, etc. And it's like, dude, like you're
(41:09):
being featured in a window in which the competition is slim.
And one of the things I think college football has
not done a great job of in recent years. And
we talked about all the different places you've got to
go to watch games in college football. That is one
of the things I don't like about college football that
I think I think there are opportunities to do a
better job of is when you have two big time
(41:32):
games later on in the evening on at the same time.
Because I know that you can put the four boxes
up on YouTube TV. I know you can go to
a sports bar and get all the games. It is
kind of nice to see a game featured in a
quote unquote standalone format and be able to give that
game equal attention as the other game, Like it's fun
(41:56):
to go back and forth. But if you want more eyeball, like,
get yourself a standalone opportunity, get yourself a window, like
a big noon kickoff like Texas Tech and Utah are
getting today. And even though it looks a little bit sloppy,
a lot of people are getting to watch it because
it's either that or you can watch Clemson disappoint their
fans again. But they're in a delay anyway, so who cares.
(42:19):
And so you see the way that the fan base
there in Salt Lake City welcomed in the entire Fox
crew the way they welcomed in like that, right there,
as somebody who goes, No, No, this is a brilliant opportunity.
We don't care that it's a ten am start, Like,
we don't care that we've got to kick off at
ten o'clock am local time, which we normally never do.
(42:41):
Their fans were up at four in the morning raging
because they saw it as a great opportunity. So it
is nice to see these schools get featured the way
that they are in some of these other platforms and
not complain about the opportunity like you've seen Ohio state it.
But that's the problem here. This is what happens when
people get spoiled, like this is how this goes. People
(43:04):
get spoiled. And when you get spoiled, you don't truly
remember or appreciate how things were before things got great.
You don't have the recall to look back and go,
you know what, before we were this, there was an
alternate universe. There was something else that existed that we
weren't too fond of. One of those teams in the
(43:27):
world of football is the Kansas City Chiefs. And I'm
not saying that the Chiefs are a spoiled fan base, Okay,
I don't want to go that far. I think they've
always supported their team. I think they've had good football teams.
I think Alex Smith deserves a lot of credit for
helping to turn around the Chiefs organization. He sort of
(43:48):
handed the baton to Patrick Mahomes, and Patrick Mahomes got
him through the finish line. But I look at the
Kansas City Chiefs and there's some concern. You know, people
are concerned about what's happening in Kansas City. And if
you were just to dissect what has happened early on
in the season for the Kansas City Chiefs, who, by
the way, will be featured on Sunday Night Football against
(44:10):
the New York Giants. Programming note, if you are listening
to this show and you are in the LA area
or you're in southern California, you can turn on Channel
four KNBC afterwards and you can watch you can watch
me on television on the Challenge. All right, So take
a look at that, all right. You can see what
sort of a slappy I am on the radio as
(44:31):
compared on TV. You can just look at that live
from Citywalkie Universal Studios. So there's something for you. There's
a programming note, But another programming note before that, you're
going to see the Chiefs and you're going to see
the Giants, And a lot of people are looking at
this as they must win for the Kansas City Chiefs,
and I would tend to agree. You don't want to
(44:51):
go zero to three. You're a touchdown favorite on the
road for a reason. The expectation is you should win
this game. Then if you go back and look at
the first couple of games of the Kansas City chief season,
you saw what happened in Brazil against the Chargers. You
saw what happened last week against the Eagles. They could
have won that game in Brazil. They could have won
(45:11):
the game last week against Philly. The Travis Kelcey dropped
pass that resulted in a turnover, the false star penalties,
all of that, all of that is fair, and all
of that is real. Here's what else is real. If
this is the end of the Chiefs dynasty, which has
been thrown out there that hey, you know, this is
(45:33):
the beginning of the end. If this is the end, yeah,
looks about right. It looks about right like this is
normally how this goes like. It normally goes this way.
This is usually how dynasties end. People were expecting when
(45:53):
Patrick Mahomes And that's why when Patrick Mahomes won his
third Super Bowl, when people were talking about, hey, hey,
do they have a chance to catch the Patriots? Does
Patrick Mahomes have a chance to catch Tom Brady? Well? Sure, sure,
I've also got a chance of flying if I jump
(46:14):
off the parking structure at Fox Sports Radio. Yeah, there's
a small chance. Guess what, until I hit the pavement,
then it's over, you know, like like and knowing my luck,
I'll probably catch my kneecap off the Alpoyle loco and survive.
But again, like there's a chance. So yeah, there's a
chance that we're going to catch Tom Brady and the Patriots.
(46:36):
The reality is and the probability was, No, they won't,
and they won't because this is how dynasties go. This
is usually how they go. They've run rough shot over
the NFL for the better part of a decade. What
happened in New England with Tom Brady and the Patriots
(46:58):
is exactly what happened, and it was happening with the
Kansas City Chiefs. The Patriots won a bunch of Super
Bowls early and then they lost a couple and then
guess what happened. It was about a decade before they
won another one. Like everyone talks about, oh my god,
the twenty year run and the twenty plus year run,
(47:18):
hey man, there were a lot of years they weren't
in a Super Bowl. And whether you want to put
that as well, they got older, the roster changed, or
they traded away players, or Peyton Manning was involved in
all these Yeah, they weren't a part of those Super bowls.
There was a large portion of a time in between
(47:39):
their last super Bowl of the early bunch and their
next one. They weren't there. They didn't participate. That's the norm.
What separated New England from everybody else is they had
two dynasties. They had the first one and then they
had the second one. That's the difference. That's what made
(48:03):
that one so much greater than what we've seen before,
is because while you put them all together as a
twenty year successful run, the fact of the matter is
there were two of them. They were split. What you're
seeing in Kansas City as everyone talks about a must
win game and they've lost to the Chargers and they
lost to the Eagles, and they've got to go beat
(48:24):
the Giants, and maybe they'll struggle on who knows, maybe
the Giants will pull off an upset. I don't know.
But what you're seeing is the norm. The Patriots were
the exception, the Chiefs are the rule. This is how
this stuff goes. By and large, They've had a hell
(48:45):
of a run. But if we're being truthful about Patrick
Mahomes and the Chiefs and the offense and Andy Reid,
what's been the best part of that football team for
a little while now, it's been their defense. Like we
all talk, I mean, Patrick Mahomes is still great, he's
still phenomenal. He's you know, leading and rushing and all that.
(49:08):
I mean, he's still great, no doubt about it. But
that offense is not anywhere close to where the defense is.
That's the truth. And it's been like that for a while.
When's the last time you talked about the Chiefs and like, man,
that high powered offense really ran rough shot? No, no, no, no,
it's the defense, Steve Spagnolo, and that defense has been
(49:30):
fantastic for a long time now. And whether it's Travis
Kelsey's age, whether it's them losing pieces and not having
enough weapons for Patrick Mahomes, whatever the case is. Yeah,
you're starting to see the end stages of a dynasty,
and it's okay. A lot of people thought the Golden
(49:51):
State Warriors dynasty was over, and then years later they
ended up winning another title. They'd beat Boston a couple
of years ago, and you looked differently at that because
you're like, wow, after all those years, they went back
and did it again. Same thing with the Patriots. You
look differently at the entirety of it all because if
you would have just stopped, if you would have stopped
(50:12):
it twenty eleven and said that's it, they made another
Super Bowl, they lost to the Giants end of the road,
you'd look back on it and go, that was a
hell of a run and really successful. What made them
the exception is what happened next. They went on another run.
So if this is the end of the Kansas City Chiefs,
and you know, maybe Chiefs fans will get salty about
(50:34):
this or get offended by it. I don't look at
it as oh my god, what are we seeing from
the Chiefs. I look at it is no, this is
to be expected. The unexpected was New England. What's happening
in Kansas City. We've seen this time and time again
before at the Jonas Knocks on X at Jonas Knox
Show on Instagram, and you can always hang out with
us as always on the iHeartRadio app. All right, so
(50:57):
coming up next here on the show, we are going
to tell you about somebody who is calling it like
it is. And if you've listened to this show for
long enough, I've been telling you there is a problem
with an NFL team. It's not just a player, it's
the entire thing. We'll get into that for you here
on FSR. I'm the friend that's already into math. I'm
(51:18):
a little moisture right now. No, you ain't. By the way,
that's the phrase I've never heard before, Jonas Knox here
Fox Sports Radio. Somebody trying to pile drive or water moccasin. Yes, man.
(51:41):
You know, when when you talk a lot for a living,
the subtle reminders of things you did actually say are disturbing,
and that is That's one of the great things about
Alex ty Shirt having a slummet with us on a
Saturday is that he goes in opens up the coffin
(52:03):
of career killing quotes that I have and just pulls
out a gem every fifteen seconds. Hands down the greatest
cracker of all time. Hey, Rob Parker did say next
to cheese, it's ritz and saltine that I was on
the cracker Mount Rushmore? Did I knew that somebody should
(52:26):
send that to Antonio Brown? So he knows that I'm
like up for the award of these days. I need
a cole shower, all right, coming up in a little
over ten minutes from now, there's a lot of people
who waited way too long to bitch, way too long
to bitch and complain about stories in the NFL. We'll
(52:48):
get into that for you again. That'll be yours a
little over ten minutes from now. We want to keep
a classy here on this show, though we're not. We're
tired of swimming in the gutter. It's not going to
happen on this show. Rob writes in we're getting a
major bleep earlier today, imagining yourself bleeping Pat McAfee's luscious
bleep when he was in his speedo. Envisioning yourself ravaging
(53:10):
by his bleep, You bleep. If you're paying me twenty
million dollars a year, you can rip my ass. Jason
writes in Judas the Dodgers d sucking Kershaw stand can
stay in your onesie with your half o tawny Kershaw gear,
(53:31):
crying like the bleep you are. We're winning one for
my kershaw this year to honor my legend, you cheerleading
Dodgers bleep. By the way, if Tony Roma gets ten
million dollars a year, I'm getting a sex change. I
was talking about his third contract. Okay for the record,
(53:52):
So at the Jonas Knox Is where he can send
all those words of wisdom on X I will put
those over on the Instagram stories at Jonas Knox Show
on Instagram so that you can see the unedited versions
of all of those if you'd like. All right, So
(54:15):
one of the one of the things we discussed earlier
that I do think is important to point out, along
with the fact that with the iHeartRadio app, you can
stream us wherever you have but to visa catch us
in all of our Fox Sports Radio shows live twenty
four to seven and the new and improved iHeartRadio app.
Search Fox Sports Radio in the app to stream us
live all day every day. Be sure to select Fox
(54:36):
Sports Radio is one of your presets in the iHeart
apps will always pop up at the top of your screen,
and if you were listening on the iHeartRadio app earlier,
I was pointing out that it is kind of interesting
that the team that got purged of their offensive and
defensive coordinators this past offseason was the Detroit Lions. And
what's interesting about it is the fact that if you
(54:57):
check in on those coordinators that left, you go, well,
oh oh, yeah, so they didn't get to bring the
players with them. So maybe the thought of the expectation
being high and them making a run and turning around
the organ maybe we've got to go ahead and slow
it down a little bit. Maybe we've got to slow
(55:18):
down the expectations on those guys and Ben Johnson and
Aaron Glenn based on what we've seen and what the
early results are in Chicago, New York. And I've been
saying this for the longest time because it's easy for
everybody to just point to what's happening in Chicago specifically,
and we'll just focus in on Chicago now because with
(55:40):
the Jets, I mean, I think everybody understands Justin Field
has given a two year deal. You know, Tyrod Taylor
is starting tomorrow. If it doesn't work with justin Fields,
they'll go into the draft and trying to find their
next guy. Everybody kind of understands that. But the expectation,
since we're on that topic of Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson,
were way at a whack and it's easy for everybody
(56:02):
to point to whether or not Ben Johnson has success,
with whether or not Caleb Williams has success, that's all
anybody wants to point to. The Bears could win four
games this year. They're looking at Caleb williams completion percentage,
his touchdowns as interceptions, is this is that, And the
fact of the matter is Caleb Williams wasn't bad last year.
(56:24):
He wasn't he like he was the least of their problems.
And the reality is in game two as opposed to
Game one, he did get a lot better this year.
Like that's true, but there's a bigger issue there, And
the bigger issue there is the fact that Ben Johnson
isn't just there to fix Caleb Williams. Ben Johnson's there
(56:47):
because he's got to fix the entire thing because they're
a mess and they've been a mess for a long time.
Ben Johnson pointed out one of the issues in Chicago
earlier this week.
Speaker 7 (56:59):
I think or crack these habits are yet to reflect
the championship caliber team we should be going to the
football finishing hard. We talk about it all the time
with the offensive players that our fundamentals are finished and
our technique they need to show up and walk through.
They need to show up on the practice field. That's
how it shows up on game day. Simple things of
(57:19):
how do we properly block, how do we catch the ball,
how do we block after the catch? Ball security, and
things like that. It's the little things that you learn
in youth league football that even at this level, they
make a huge difference.
Speaker 1 (57:33):
I mean, this isn't just a Caleb Williams thing. I
know everybody wants to point to that. I know everybody
wants to sit there and talk about whether or not
what's his development? Like he's got painted nails. Yeah, hey,
it's a little weird. I got it. I got it.
But who am I to judge? I had a Lebrett
piercing underneath my bottom lip. Okay, I got two dumb tattoos.
(57:55):
Who am I to judge? Look, I get it. It's
a little weird, but everybody wants it's a point to
you while you know it's Caleb Williams, it's you know,
Caleb Williams is this city. It's okay, Where were you
January sixteenth, twenty eleven? I just want to know, like,
(58:15):
where were you January sixteenth, twenty eleven? Right, I believe
that was my matthis correct, fourteen going on fifteen years ago.
Caleb Williams might have been nine I think then, maybe
nine years old. And I asked that question because that
was the last time the Bears want a playoff game, Like,
(58:36):
you get it, it's a long time. It's a long
time that they've been sort of less than par in
the NFL. If you want to go back any further
than that, if you just want to a quick, little
fun discussion to have, what's the one thing that they're
doing this year in Chicago. You know what they're doing.
(58:57):
They're celebrating the eighty five Super Bowl, one of the
greatatest teams of all time, one of the greatest teams
in the history of the NFL, you could argue, one
of the greatest teams in the history of professional sports.
And it's the forty year anniversary of the eighty five Bears,
and so they brought them out on Monday Night football.
They had all the players that were still with us
(59:19):
out there. They were celebrating the eighty five Bears forty
year anniversary, one of the great teams of all time.
Of course they let that game get away. Why wouldn't
they please? But why wouldn't they? Of course it would.
But they're celebrating the fortieth anniversary of the Bear of
the super Bowl team. It's tremendous, man, it's awesome. Yeah.
(59:39):
Since that Super Bowl they've got six playoff wins. This
isn't a Caleb Williams thing. Okay, it's not. It's not
a Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams thing. It's a Chicago
Bears thing. Been bad. Majority of the time. They were
(01:00:04):
a good team in the early two thousands, the mid
two thousands. They had great players. You had Hall of
famers on that team. You had your Devin Hesters and
your Brian R. Lackers and your olden cruises and like
you had great players. You had Lovey Smith. There was
an actual it's Jerry Angelo the GM like there wasn't
(01:00:25):
like it felt like hey, listen man. Even though there's
like the quarterback situation is up and down. They were
in a Super Bowl, they were like, at least she
had some sort of a semblance of an organization. You
had a plan, it felt like something. Since then you don't.
And it's the organization who doesn't even really know what
(01:00:46):
success looks like. They don't really know, if you think
about it. Because Love Smith was fired, he won ten games,
they fired him. Matt Naggi had a winning record. Say
what you will, he had a winning record. Mitch Trubisky
look at his numbers, man Like, I'm not And again
(01:01:06):
I'm not saying they shouldn't have moved on from either guy.
They had their reasons to move on from like whatever
you want to call it. But I just don't know
if Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams can overcome Chicago. It's
not whether or not Ben Johnson can groom Caleb Williams
into being a great quarterback. I think he can. He's
(01:01:27):
got all the all the talent in the world. You've
seen he'll make throws. You're like, all right, there's three
guys on the planet that can make that throw. But
this isn't And I've been saying this for months. It's
not Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams. It's them. Like there's
been a lot of people that have come through the
building there it hasn't worked. Like if you're if you're
(01:01:54):
inserting a different coach or quarterback or this and that,
and it's still the same problem. Don't you start to
look around and go, hey, maybe it's this place. Like,
maybe it's this place that's the issue. It's why you
don't think Giants ownership is taking a close look over
what's happening with Daniel Jones. The Indianapolis Colts haven't punted
(01:02:16):
yet this year. Like that's true, they haven't punted yet.
And this is the year after with Daniel Jones at
quarterback in Indianapolis, this is the year after Saquon Barkley
went to Philly and ran for two thousand yards. You
don't think the Giants brass there is looking at this going, hey,
(01:02:37):
they were here, what happened? What's going on? Why is
this not? Like maybe there's something going on here that's
the issue. And you got to look at Ben Johnson
and Caleb Williams and everyone wants to point to you, well,
it's that relationship, It's that dynamic. No, no, no, no, it's
the whole thing. For example, to get a stadium built,
(01:03:01):
all right, they've been trying to figure out whether we
want to do it at Arlington Heights or they want
to keep it at Soldier Field on the Lakefront and
all these other like they put together these renderings, they
draw like this stadium, this is what it's going to
look like. They didn't include parking, you know, like I'll mean, hey, listen,
maybe there's like a you know, secret underground portals that
(01:03:24):
like just pop you into your seats. I don't know,
but there's like, you know, they didn't include parking when
they did fix this stadium the last time they butchered it.
The design was terrible. When you drive by Lakeshore, you
see the stadium on the right. When you get when
(01:03:45):
you're leaving the airport, you look over to the right
on Lake Michigan. You yo, what is that? No, that's
not a flying saucer. That's actually their stadium. They just like,
you know, put it right in between the call. It's like,
this isn't a Caleb Williams saying it's not a Johnson thing.
They got problems, they've had problems there for years. Then
until that gets fixed, I don't know who's gonna have
(01:04:06):
success at the Jonas Knocks on x at Jonas Knox
Show on Instagram that you can hang out with us
is always on the iHeart Radio app. All right, it's
coming up next here. There's a lot of people that
waited way too long to complain about something in the NFL.
We'll get into that for you here on FSR. But
for all the latest from around the world of sports,
no complaints for the one and only the luxurious Isaac Lohnko, Well,
(01:04:30):
luxurious is right.
Speaker 3 (01:04:31):
Sadly, however, I do have a complaint, and the complaint
is directed at you.
Speaker 1 (01:04:38):
What did I do wrong?
Speaker 3 (01:04:39):
You buried the lead? What I had never heard of
a Labrette piercing, And now not only do I learn
about a new thing, but I learned that you have
a Labrett piercing. All your devoted fans on social media
want to know more so, le Brett piercing is a
(01:05:02):
piercing beneath the lower lip and above the chin. And
apparently you can get them horizontally or vertically. So what's
the story of yours?
Speaker 1 (01:05:11):
I got it the ball horizontally, not the not the hoop,
all right, not the the hoop around the lip. I
got the ball. I believe that's just you know, it's
just like the little ball that on the edge of
a needle that comes out of your lip. Look, it was,
I mean, just awful. I mean, but I was young.
I thought it looked cool. I decided to go with it.
(01:05:36):
There were some people that were big fans of it.
You know, I'll just take your word for it. I'm
afraid the ladies enjoyed it. And then again, I'll just
take your word for it. Well, I'm just I'm just
I'm not. I don't mean like that. I don't mean
like that. It just all that looks good. And it's
one of those things that you look back on and
you go, no, it didn't that was a lie, like
they like, I wasn't in on the joke. I was
(01:05:58):
the joke and I didn't realize it at the time
that that's how it felt to me after the fens.
Speaker 3 (01:06:02):
Just have a couple of brief follow up questions before
I get to some NFL injury news. A. Was this
before or after you went into sports talk radio, and
did it affect your speech on the air in anyway?
Speaker 1 (01:06:16):
No, I don't think so okay good. In fact, I
was so good at my job they called me Lebrette Musburger.
Speaker 3 (01:06:24):
I well good today, well done, well done, and timely
too because they're honoring the NFL today tomorrow. And my
final question, before I moved to the NFL.
Speaker 1 (01:06:33):
By the way, that's a lie, I was a busboy
TJF Fridays. Okay, all right, type casting? Did it hurt
the save the monitors do? My final question on this,
did it hurt when you sneezed? No, I would have
heard what I sneezed. Okay. I only found out what
el Brett Pierson was five minutes ago, so I might
be a little off of my Now you know, the
(01:06:55):
problem was they this is a true story, So there's
a they you have to get age it. So when
you get a piercing, you'll start with the standard gauge,
which is the small one. And then as you have
your piercings in, if you want to get them bigger,
you have to get a bigger piercing and you have
to just kind of you have to go up in
size if that's what you want to do. And so
(01:07:18):
what happening was what ended up happening was I had
the original piercing in I started working at TGI Fridays.
They said, you have to take it out while you're
on shift, but the hole kept closing up during that
eight hours, so every time I would have to repunch
the hole to put the piercing through myself. So after
(01:07:41):
every shift I had blood coming down my chin because
I didn't think it through, like, hey, maybe you should
get a temporary And then by the time I got
a temporary one, the gauge on the temporary one that
was plastic and see through was bigger than the other one,
so whenever I would have to punch it through, I
would bleed again. Was terrible. It's I mean, it's just
(01:08:02):
the whole lot, just an awful idea through and through.
You know what, you know that you're an ideal employee
when you literally make sacrifices, including blood, just to clock
in a shift at TGI Friday. I needed impressive.
Speaker 4 (01:08:18):
You know.
Speaker 1 (01:08:18):
I didn't grow rich like a lot of your your
fellow co workers a Fox Sports Radio. I need, I need.
I need to earn earn my key business.
Speaker 3 (01:08:24):
So social media do with all that what you will.
Here are the latest NFL injury headlines. The Denver Broncos
are placing linebacker Drake Greenlaw on injured reserve now because
of his quad injury, while NFL media reported that the
Chicago Bears replacing cornerback Jalen Johnson on IR because of
a groin injury. That Ougland Patriots just ruled out cornerback
(01:08:48):
Christian Gonzales for Sunday's game against the Steelers due to
a hamstring injury. At the Dallas Cowboys have just added
cornerback tray Von Diggs to their injury report with a
knee injury. He's now listed as questionable for Tomorrow's game
at Chicago. In college football, Texas Tech has just come
through with a thirty four to ten victory at Utah.
(01:09:09):
The story there the performance of Red Raider backup quarterback
Will Hammond in for the injured Baron Morton. All Hammond
did after coming in, he completed thirteen of sixteen passes
for one hundred and sixty nine yards and two touchdowns.
He also had eight carries for sixty one yards, including
a thirty two yard run. Elsewhere, Syracuse up twenty four
(01:09:33):
to fourteen at Clemson, but that game is still in
a weather delay because of lightning in the area. At
halftime number six, Oregon and Oregon State tied at seven,
with a minute and forty one seconds remaining in the
first quarter. Elsewhere, a couple of other final scorers to
pass along while we have the chance. Memphis has just
(01:09:54):
pulled off a thirty two to thirty one victory over Arkansas,
and it's a final in Madison, Maryland wins at Wisconsin
twenty seven to ten, and Jonason. Wisconsin fans on social
media have some helpful suggestions for their beloved Badgers. At
(01:10:15):
Scotty P. Sixty five post end quote, replace Luke Fickle
with a cardboard cutout standing up on the sidelines and
attach it to AI to call offensive and defensive plays. Meanwhile,
at F zero G three, L three to four post
(01:10:37):
quote too late to join the weak Now The Weak,
for those uninitiated, is a Division three conference. The Wisconsin
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and all of its teams are all
branches of the University of Wisconsin and Eau Claire, Lacrosse, Oshkosh, Platteville,
River Falls, Stevens Point, Stout, and Whitewater.
Speaker 1 (01:11:01):
I'm looking for a Badger.
Speaker 3 (01:11:06):
Can I get a Can I get a can I
get a volleyball call?
Speaker 1 (01:11:11):
From ash Gosh. Hello, I'll tell you what.
Speaker 3 (01:11:16):
In the last couple of minutes, we have covered everything
from the Wisconsin University system to Lebrett Piercing's You're Welcome
America back.
Speaker 4 (01:11:26):
To you hey.
Speaker 1 (01:11:27):
I mean, if anybody wants to ship that Marconi Award,
does let us know we are you are eligible by
the way, I mean, there is the chance it won't
make it to the studio, but you know, knowing this
place based on the mail room. All right. With that
being said, this isn't just a game, It's a once
in a generation event. The Harlem Globe Trotter is one

Harlem Globe Trotters One underd to your Tour. Get your
tickets today at Harlem Globetrotters dot com. We are going
to have the week three edition of Notlocks coming up
here in less than ten minutes from now. I did
want to mention this here. I did get a kick
this week out of the Tom Brady paranoia and also
(01:12:11):
the tush push bitching and like You've got all these
people talking to Yeah, this is a bad look. Brady's
in the booth? Is he talking to Chip Kelly? Is
in an advantage? He's got a conflict of interest, et cetera,
et cetera. You got the tush push, the fallse starts. Yeah,
it's not fair. It's that all of this could have
been addressed in the off season, like all of it, Like,
(01:12:32):
you could have voted against it. If you're somebody in
the NFL complaining about it, you could have gotten rid
of it. If you didn't like Tom Brady's conflict of interest,
you could have done something about it at the time.
Don't retroactively bitch and moan when you had an opportunity
in real time to do something about it. Stop just stop.
(01:12:53):
Like the tush push is gone after this year. Let's
just call it what it is. They're going to figure
out a way. They've already started their landing the siege.
It's going to be gone. We move on. And on
the Tom Brady front, do you think Tom Brady needs
to get in the ear of the Raiders to help
them beat the Bears next week? Really, everybody just relaxed,
(01:13:17):
and if you really were concerned about it. You should
have done something about it in the moment months ago
at the Jonas Knox on X at Jonas Knox Show
on Instagram. Up next, though, it is the week three
edition of Knox Locks, and it's yours here an FSR.
I'd rather have jumper cables attached to my nipples, two
pros and a cup of Joe. No, it's not. It's
Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports Radio. Sorry, that's a
(01:13:42):
Brady Quinn thought it would be funny to have this
as his intro song for a little while. You know
how to find me homie as bees right here's lols.
Ty Shirt is not a very good person. I just
want to point that out. It's not a nice guy.
But coming up a little over ten minutes from now,

on the Instagram as well too. At Jonas Knox Show.
I'm also going to put up the insulting tweets that
have been sent in as well too. That'll go in
(01:14:47):
the ig story shortly after we go off the air.
So if you want to follow along there, you can
do so at Jonas Knox Show. But right now it
is time to take our medicine, so to speak, with
a little something we do called this lock it, let's
it and knocks locks. Look, I mean it's not great.
(01:15:10):
I'll just put it that way. We are two weeks
into the season and we are one in five. That's
not ideal, you know, is that it's not a good
way to go about things. But the Jaguars and the
Bengals was the bright shiny star in a sky full
of clouds because you had the the Jaguars and the Bengals,
(01:15:35):
and you had Jake Browning leading that long drive. At
the end, we had Sincy minus three and a half
and we covered to pick up a win, and I'm thinking, Okay,
things are looking good. And then I decided, you know what,
how about Chiefs plus one and a half? And that
didn't work out close. Probably was on the right side
of that, Travis Kelcey's drop, false starts, etc. I could
(01:15:55):
sit here and complain, but I'm more of an adult
than that. I'm not gonna do that. And then you
had the Buccaneers and the Texans, and apparently Houston just decided,
you know what, We're just gonna olay Baker Mayfield on
a fourth down, let him scramble pick up a first down,
and then just not get a stop on the key
drive to close out the game. So we had Houston
minus two and a half. So a one in two
performance last week. Again, one in five on the year,
(01:16:19):
not ideal, but we're also not giving up yet. It's
time for this week. Broncos in Chargers. I'm taking the bolts.
Give me the La Chargers. Oh Finley at home. And
I know, listen, everybody wants to make all the jokes
they want about SOFI Stadium Live. I'm with you. I'm
with you. It costs a lot. It cost a lot
(01:16:40):
to park there, and it's a pain to get out
of But the Chargers have gone on the road twice
and went to Brazil in week one, they went to
Las Vegas in week two. They overcame temptation in a
big way. And the LA Chargers are sitting here two
and oh with an opportunity to go three to zero
against the division. They're a two and a half point favorite.
I think they get it done. I'm not as high
(01:17:02):
on Denver this year as a lot of people are.
I think there's some real flaws there. I don't know
if this is a comeback to reality year for Bo
Nixon Company. But I look at LA and I look
at the Chargers. What I've seen through the first couple
of weeks, they're for real. It continues. I like the
Bolts minus two and a half, Cowboys and Bears. I'll
take the Bears getting a point and a half at home.
(01:17:23):
And here's why, you're never as bad as you were
the week before, and you're never as good as you were.
The Cowboys were lucky to win that game. I don't
want to say lucky. They were fortunate to win that game.
They were fortunate to win that game. Brandon Aubrey is
an absolute stud. He's basically justin Tucker, but he's not
a weirdo. And he's hitting sixty plus yard field goals
(01:17:44):
at a clip we've never seen before. But I mean,
the Giants were in control, let that game get away.
And the Bears aren't nearly as bad as they were
last week when they ran into a juggernaut that was
the Lions, who also aren't as good as they were
last week. I think Chicago figures it out. I think
they bounce back on defense. The injuries are concerning, but
I think they bounce back. They come up with something,
(01:18:07):
and I think Caleb Williams against that defense, who, by
the way, a defensive coordinator they know very well in
Matt Eberflus, I think it's going to be a shootout.
I like the Bears getting a point and a half
at home, Lions at a Ravens All. Speaking of the Lions,
you weren't buying last week, were you? Cause I got
Baltimore minus four and a half at home in primetime.
Lamar Jackson has been phenomenal on Monday Night football. I
(01:18:30):
think it continues give me the Ravens minus the four
and a half against the Lions team that's completely being
overhyped based on last week's performance. This has been a
fun one. Thanks to Alex ty Shirt, thanks to Bo Benson,
thanks to Ilo, thanks for hanging out with us here,
everybody on Fox Sports Radio, and again, if you missed
