Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Well, well, good morning, e buddy, Happy Abby Abby Abbey
Fox Football Saturday. What a glorious football Saturday. It is
great sports Saturday period Ryder Cup Day two MLB, the

(00:26):
last two days is coming down to the wire for
the playoffs at a great boat of great college football
Illinois USC Big noon kickoff Irish at Arkansas Buckeyes in
Washington three thirty Eastern, twelve thirty Pacific, LSU and OL

(00:47):
Miss Tennessee, Mississippi State.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
Tonight under the lights.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Alabama and Georgia and of course and happy you've had
Alley Pennsylvania number five, number six, Oregon goes into the
white out penn State. Yes, let me hear that roar

(01:15):
one more time. Resident Duck. Jeff Schwartz, good morning.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
It's like a very tame uh team tame wildcat there.
I don't know that's what you're gonna rip the wildcat.
It feels like a very pretty quack quack a very
that's a very tame wildcat. That's what you're going I
got the afflet duck over the argon duck. How about that?

(01:45):
What song is that come on? Rather than the fight song?
Penn Sate fight song. Hopefully we won't hear it very
much today. I'll tell you that it's gonna be Uh. Look, man,
we've we've talked about this game obviously all week, and
we waited for it for it's finally here and we
get a chance to watch it. So I'm looking forward
to it. I know you are. I'm tired of talking

(02:07):
about it for it for it to happen. And look,
it's uh, it's it's all on Penn State. Man, it's
the pressure is all squarely on Penn State. And James
really James Franklin me there. He he has to win
this game like there is no other He can't not

(02:27):
win this game. And so uh that that is resonating
with me all week, and that the fact that everything
possible to prepare for this game, any wrinkle, anything, they've
been saving to run for years, they're all doing it today.
It's all happening in this game. I listen. I don't
disagree with you.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
And by the way, let it be known that the
fellas Jeff Schwartz is drinking out of an Oregon Duck mug.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
It's a good mug this morning. Yeah, I bring it
out special occasions.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
He's got too big orgon duck mug. He had sent
me a picture of Listen, you're not wrong when it
comes to this, this game and the pressure to win.
The Under James Franklin, Penn State has been a very good,
very good team, right, Like he's a great recruiter, gets

(03:22):
terrific players. I mean, you can look around the NFL
and it's littered with Penn State players. I mean, you know,
he's he's had a lot of success, won a lot
of games. He hasn't won the big one, and he
hasn't won against elite opponents. And each time against elite opponents,

(03:44):
the games are close. He doesn't get blown out, but
he has not had the signature wins. And now that
you have a national championship caliber team and Penn State
does alert quarterback, you got Singleton and Allen in that backfield,

(04:05):
you got a terrific defense, you got receivers. Now, I mean,
they're loaded and they have enough talent to win a
national championship. But the question is can they win a
big game and can they beat an elite opponent?

Speaker 3 (04:20):
And tonight's their first test.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
And truthfully, you know what, Jeff, everything's in their favor
they had a bye week coming in. It's at home,
it's at night, a white out. That place is amazing
during a white out. I covered college football for a
long time, and there's nothing better than like LSU Death

(04:42):
Valley at knight is amazing. Clemson at night, you know,
I mean obviously Michigan, Ohio State, but Penn State one
hundred and ten thousand people to build the stadium shakes,
it's a white out. It's this small town that just
overflows with people. It's an amazing environment, and it's a

(05:06):
very difficult environment for an opponent. So they have every advantage, Jeff.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
They do. I mean the other first person who said this,
I agree. I've said this for a week now. You know.
The but getting to buy and then getting a host
to white out and it's the top six opponent is
wild to me. First of all, that would have been nice,
you know, to have to have that Penn State and
Ohio State play later this season and they both get
a buy before the game. Yeah, Oregon, you know, we

(05:33):
put Oregon State. You know, they're not very good. We
did have a rivalry game last weekend, and now we're
going to play, you know, a get on the road
in this environment after Penn State gets a little time off.
But yeah, that that's football. It happens right every now
and then. And look, I don't know where you want
to begin here, but I want to begin with what

(05:53):
I was most surprised about watching film and sort of
preparing for this game, and that is the lack of
juice I saw in Penn State's offense through three games,
and it was actually it was a lot. I was
very surprised watching their film. I know they had I
know that I watched some of their games. I had

(06:13):
a bet on them to against uh Villing over the lost.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
I mean, you know better than anybody that you're not
You didn't play anyone, so you're not putting anything on film?

Speaker 3 (06:25):
Yeah, I disagree with that. What do you mean? What
do I mean? I I we see plenty of teams
that play no one or can put entire offense on
film every single game. I don't. I don't just I
don't agree with that idea that you can't show anything.
Dullard just wasn't good. He's not been good. There's no
he's just not. I don't.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
I did separate conversation with you're going to get getting
I don't know that if he's not good, But go ahead, I'm.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
Getting there because I think a lot of it comes
down to the quarterback can't make certain throws that kills
the offense, and they just can't run everything. I think
that they would like to run because he he alan
can't throw what throws he he does not throw the
ball well when a receiver is running away from him.

(07:13):
He's actually he's really good on curls. He's really good
on comebacks. He's really good on on out routes when
guys are coming back to him. But anything where swing routes,
anything that he has to throw, you're talking about touch.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
He's got strength, and he's got he's got a gun
of an arm. But I would agree with you that
is weakness. The one throw he struggles with is a
touch drow. Yeah, And so see the reason I disagree,
The reason I owe, like I don't you have to
work on things. It gets bad opponents to be ready

(07:47):
to do them. Like you just can't go into this
game today with a brand new offense. You haven't practiced
any of that stuff yet in a game like it matters,
you also want to put stuff on film to let
the opponent see like rinkles. That's all Organ's done. Organ
side four different game plans are four games now. They
put so much on film.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
And said, all right, Penn State, prepare for all this
that we got for you. And I think it's and
even the run game.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
Like, if you watch Penn State's film, then you'll see
they haven't done anything like that. I agree with you
that Oregon has done it, done it differently, But if
you look at what Penn State's run, it's very basic.

Speaker 3 (08:23):
So okay, so here's the question. Okay, but also too,
you can you can run basic stuff and also have
a little bit of juice on film. I just saw.
I text a buddy who used to play there. I
was like, where's the energy, Like, where's like offensively not
defensively offensively And I just that's my takeaway from watching

(08:45):
the offensive film is they just like, I don't know,
kind of looks slow. I was surprised. The running backs
are great, obviously, Uh, Singletary started a little bit slower
than than but the report out there is he just
hasn't started as fast as they wanted, right, that's kind
of the report out of there. But Alan's been great.

(09:06):
Even the offensive line. I mean, this is supposed to
be one of the better units in the country. I
didn't see that on a film, So I'm they're going
to have a different juice. Obviously, it's a it's a
it's a different environment today for the game. But I
was surprised at what I saw. I didn't expect that
sort of to pop up on film. You watch enough

(09:27):
football altra football. We both see teams that play nobody's
and there's like there's pops of energy, pops of juice.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
Like, yeah, this is not well. The fi game was flat,
was completely flat. Now I saw some pops of juice
against Nevada, and then I don't know how to read Villanova.
I mean there was a there was a slow start,
and then they had a couple of a couple of
moments albeit brief of juice. It was really the FIU

(09:56):
game where they didn't you know, really they looked flat
to me.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
But you can but you know, like you can look flat.
I think it's still throwaball down the field with some success.
I mean, it's just it's just not there. And again
here's the question too, I have is you know, the
wide receivers that left the Portal are all all one
elsewhere and are killing it in other schools. And look again,

(10:22):
they could come out today. I'm sure they'll have some
stuff for Organ. Organ hasn't seen yet. Now. They did
play them obviously in a big thing championship game when
they had a full offense, and of course right, so
like they know what they're capable of, and y'all stop
the run. Men. It's like that simple. If you put
this game, if Dreweller beats us, you just you just
give him a hat tip man, just like congrats, men,

(10:43):
like good for you. I think you just can't let
Duella beat you in this game. And I'm looking forward
to watching that. That's why I take away from watching
their offensive film is I was very surprised at what
I didn't see and what I thought I would see.
And it just again, I think you're exaggerating a little bit.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
I think they're There have been moments for sure, uh
where they have been flat. I mean, and I do
agree with you that that Aller's biggest issue is down
the field and touch and timing. And you know he's
worked with an entire new group of receivers, so uh,

(11:27):
you know, like I see the same thing.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
Your your son's quarter is a quarterback, correct, Yeah? Okay,
So if I if I if you were playing nobody
for three weeks the big game of week four, wouldn't
you what'd you tell them? Hey, man? Like fill the
ball deep a couple of times to work on it.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
But yeah, that's my point, Like, I mean at all,
you know, because you could do it all day long
in practice, but it's different in game environment.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
So I agree with you, you know, And they're just
not They're just not. They have have not done it
yet to that extent that I thought they would. And
of course today they come out and make me look
like a fool and do all right. Certainly possible, but
I just haven't seen it yet. And that I'm saying,
I was surprised that was it. That's my watching the film.
I was surprised that we hadn't seen it quite the

(12:17):
level that I thought we would early in the season.
And it doesn't mean they can't do it, of course,
but that's really.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
Not who they are. Offensively. It should be part of
their it should be part of a part of it.
But you know, they're gonna grind you out and then
he's going to make all those intermediate throat, like the
one thing I mean, the kids got to he's got
a big arm.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
I mean it's a strong arm.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
You talked about his outs, like he'll get you the
ball from the other hash and that's not a worry.
But you know who they are is they're gonna run
and then they're gonna run and then they're gonna play action. Yeah,
and that's and that's that's that's kind of what And
you know what's funny about that, Jeff who they've always been.

(13:02):
The one thing about that about that program is they've
been the same. It's the same offense going back to
Todd Blackledge.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
Yeah, I mean it's offense that's pretty reliable, right if
you can if you can run the ball and play
action pass you you you allow yourself a lot of
options quite honestly, as as an offense. And you when
you are physical, it travels every week, you know, and
that's important to have to to know you can run

(13:34):
the ball and you have to That's what I said.
The Oregon has to stop the run. I know. The
the pushback is well, they allowed two hundred three undred
yards rushing and stuff. One the big detention game. I
don't if we got three yards rushing. Today, I feel
pretty comfortable not winning this game. So you know, it's
about stopping the run and making Alor beat you with

(13:54):
his arm. Again, if he does, you just tip your
hat and you say a great job, and that's that's
I think the focus for Oregon in this game defensively
is that exact thing.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
So let's talk about where Oregon is and you know
the strengths of this team, right obviously, you know more
Dante Moore looks dynamic. Uh, He's everything that you kind
of want to be through the first four games of
the season, what do you do they have. Let's look

(14:31):
offense first and can they run the ball on Penn State?
Because de Penn State does have a very good defensive front.
They're going to get after Dante. How do you kind
of see that the Oregon Oh yeah, so this is
a look.

Speaker 3 (14:46):
It's a inexperienced group as far as in this environment.
You know, only I think only eight starters on the
on the team are played in the Rose Bowl last season.
But it's not a team that's void of of any
experience because Dante Moore was a starter obviously, right. Isaiah World,

(15:07):
the left tackle started Nevada for a year and a
half and and the left guard start at USC for
a couple of years. I mean, they just haven't done
it this sort of altogether in this environment, right, but
they have certainly played, you know, bigger games. The offense
is is balanced. Man, they run the ball, they passed
the ball. And the difference in this year's team compared

(15:31):
offensively compared to basically any other year, especially under the
Dan Landing years, is they have a quarterback and a
wide receiver wide receivers really that can that can complete
and basically execute one on ones on the outside that

(15:54):
they have not had before. And people will point to it, well,
they hit some deep tiss Ohio State last year. They
certainly did. Those are just go routes. I'm talking about
contested passes, back shoulder fades, high pointing balls like they
have dudes this year that can do that. And Dante Mormon,
a man can sling the rock, buddy. He can make

(16:15):
any throw you ever ask of him. Dude as a baller,
and of course different is not playing this environment since
he was a true freshman. Went to Utah as a
true freshman Top ten Utah very hard plays to play
hasn't done it here, but last week they basically just
worked on back shoulder throws. It's all he did all game.
Let's throw back shoulder throws, I think to get ready
to play today, and he's very dynamic. Our tight ends

(16:38):
the best in the country. Is kind of funny playing
Penn State after Tyler Warren Torch just last year, and
our tight end is the best. If you don't know
Kenyon Sadik, you will after this game. It has nine
catches this year, which is kind of wild when you
think about his production. I think it's like five touchdowns.
But dude, also like pancakes every defensive any play, Dude
is he's a stud man. He's a really, really good

(17:01):
He's gonna see it go one. Yeah. And so that's
where we sort of are offectively.

Speaker 2 (17:05):
We rotate let's paycakes to eat well.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
We rotate like six running backs, a couple of true
freshmen in that mix as well. I actually think our
best running back is is actually a true freshman. You know,
he's not going to get the bulk of the carries today.
I think that second best running back because Woodingham has
not played the last couple weeks for injury. He should
play today. Uh so you know we again, our offense

(17:31):
is very, very multiple. A ton of formations are r O. C.
Will Stein is a West Coast offense. Guy man. Uh,
they're running pro concepts. Uh, they're gonna, you know, give
Dante more that trongo man read the triangle right, guy,
defender goes here, you throw here, defender goes there. You
throw here. Again. We have one on one guys to

(17:52):
go on the outside. We've run the ball well so
far this year. Our tackles in pass pro do worry
me in this game. So just staying at third and long,
I think, actually think that's a game for both teams.
I mean, both teams don't want to be in third
and along with their tackles, your pass rush is probably
a little more dynamic than ours. We have Tail who's
who's incredible. He lived the big tenant sacks last year.
He's not he's a bigger defensive end. But he also

(18:13):
gets home a lot. So I think offensively, just staying
out of those third and longs it's gonna be super important. Listen,
I'm with you.

Speaker 2 (18:22):
We got lots to go over all right, there's a
ton of I mean, it's a great football day.

x Twitter X is all ducked up, he said, I

(21:51):
truly expect a belt ask game by the Ducks, even
in a white out and not so happy valley.

Speaker 3 (22:01):
I don't, I don't that feels a legal I think
I have all things to see in this game. A
blow up by organ is probably the fourth option. If
we're like talking about close organ to win, close Penn
State win, well, no, I think.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
He's saying it'll I don't think he's thinking blowout, but
I think he's thinking a tough a tough you know outing.

Speaker 3 (22:20):
I will say I perform. I people are going with,
you know, like James Franklin can't win this game type
of like that's yeah, and I don't. I think that's
like each individual game is its own thing, right, Like,
I think it's hard just to just to come out
and say, like, well, he hasn't won this game in
the past, he won't win it now. I get the sentiments,

(22:43):
I absolutely do, but I don't think it's fair just
to always fall back on that in these games as
a preview. Right Oftentimes, in these games, he's playing someone
better than him, right Ohio State Michigan, Like, you know,
it's not like he's they're playing someone who he should

(23:03):
you know, It's like he's a fifteen point favorite and loses.
Right often is an under touchdown favorite. It's like underdog,
and these are games that are hard to win. It's
that's the nature of the game. But the issue is
that in these games sometimes there are clock management. There
are play calling. You know, it was a hugures and
they ran fourth and one just or rad the ball
right up someone's butt. Like it's not good play calling

(23:25):
at times. So like that, that's where it becomes an issue.
But again, if they're up ten points most of the
game and all this is moot, it's not gonna matter,
right like the game management, it's gonna win the game.
So you know, I don't know if it's fair just
to fall back on that when it comes to how
we talk about this game. It's it's fair to note
that it's true, but I do think it's kind of

(23:46):
lazy is the wrong word. But it's very easy just
to be like, oh, he didn't win these games. I
I that to me has not entered my mind at
all previewing this game. To be honest with you, I
don't really how to quantify that. I watched the film,
I look at matchups. I'm not good. Yeah, you can't.

Speaker 2 (24:01):
You can't quantity you can't quantify, Hey, that that that
you know James Franklin hasn't won a big game. I mean,
where where does that kind of fit in every game?

Speaker 3 (24:11):
And way?

Speaker 2 (24:12):
I agree with you, even though it's a big talking point,
like it's a huge talking point in in our in
p A.

Speaker 3 (24:18):
And why get why it's effort. I get why it
is for you guys, because your expectations are so high
this season and this is a game that you have
sort of gotten your heart's broken over the years, you know,
So I get why Penn State fans are talking about it.
It makes sense, you know. But again, Landing hasn't won
a big road game. He's only put a couple of them.
And he did win Neutral Site last year aainst Penn State.

(24:40):
You know, they lost by three to Washington a few
years ago, right in Washington, in the same spot. So
it's not like Oregon had doesn't have as blemish as either.
So I just want to note that, I I get it,
he hasn't won this game. That's why I think off
of by. I mean, this is like if you've had
that trick play in the playbook, man, like this is
the time to run it. It's like all that stuff.
I think it's is very appropriate to think about in

(25:02):
this game because quite frankly, Penn State and they don't
win this game, they lose Ohio State, You're you're ten
and two with no Sennature wins. That's not great.

Speaker 2 (25:13):
Well, and listen, I still think they make the playoffs,
but I so, But to your point, what kind of
confidence are you going into the playoffs that you that
you lost your only two big games like that, that's
a huge deal. That's why this game is so important
for them. Uh, they got to feel good. You got

(25:34):
to win, right, Like, that's been the issue. It's amazing
to me, right like, go back through his entire tenure,
but that's been the issue that these big games. Penn
State just doesn't win. And it's become a thing. And
now you have every advantage. So god forbid what you

(25:57):
said to start the show. I agree with that all
the pressure is on Penn State because you have a buye.

Speaker 3 (26:04):
It's a white out. I mean, truthfully, it should be.

Speaker 2 (26:09):
I mean, the Oregon's good so it don't get me wrong,
but you know better than anybody there spot weekends and
spy and bad spots for teams.

Speaker 3 (26:18):
This is a bad spot for Oregon.

Speaker 2 (26:19):
Right if they lost by ten today, it doesn't mean
they would lose by ten double digits in a playoff scenario.

Speaker 3 (26:28):
It's just a tough spot.

Speaker 2 (26:30):
Like you're coming into a tough spot tonight, and truthfully,
Penn State should win, like everything's there for him to win,
and if they don't, I don't know. I don't know
how to feel about this team because do you have
enough metal to go up to go out to Ohio
State win? And if you don't win the end, you're

(26:51):
you're you're in a bad spot going in the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (26:55):
Yeah, no, it's all true. You know. I think a
lot of the game hinges on on Dante Moore and
what you know, Yeah, he's he hasn't played in this
atmosphere in a while. He hasn't done this, He hasn't
played this atmosphere, you know, with this team, and he
has been outstanding, dude. I don't know how much you've

(27:16):
actually watched. He has been so good so far this season.
He can make every throw. He's a little touch sometimes,
but dude can sling the rock. And so, you know,
how do we get him comfortable, you know, early in
the game, how do we make sure the noise is
organ Like most offenses, a lot of check would meet
the line of scrimmage. Where they get a line of scrimmage,

(27:40):
they get set, they dommy Cadence and then they look
to the sidelines. Well, kind of hard to do that
with the noise at Penn State. So how do you
you know, how do you you know, function offensively doing
a little different today. So these are all like things
that I think ye are tough to look the noise,
it's it's it's just it's about not being able to

(28:02):
hear yourself think and not being able to obviously make adjustments,
and and it takes a veteran group. And Organ again
together is not a veteran group. They're a veteran group.
Like they've played football. Again, a lot of the guys
have played football themselves, right, But like again, the veteranness

(28:23):
of this group is really not there together. And that's
I think, you know, you gotta start, probably start fast,
and I don't think we will. I think the script,
I think the script for this game is very much
like Georgia Tennessee. If Organ wants to win, I don't
think we'll see that many points. But Tennessee came out,
they heard, they heard it all week. Tennessee can't throw

(28:43):
deep on Georgia. Can't you know, you can't do this,
can't do that, I can't do that. And they came
out of just start a bombing the ball right and
Georgia stuck with it.

Speaker 2 (28:50):
They attacked with it perimeter, which which I thought they
got the speed to attack the perimeter. Let's transition here
because I'm fascinating. The only thing it sucks is you
got both these games all at the same time. So
you got pet State Oregon and then you got Georgia
Alabama all at the same time.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
I don't know that Alabama.

Speaker 2 (29:13):
Is going to have the same success on the edges
that Tennessee did.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
Well. I mean, Ryan Williams can obviously had that success well,
but they don't.

Speaker 2 (29:26):
He says down the field, he's an elite player. I'm
talking about Simpson.

Speaker 3 (29:30):
Yeah, so Simpson's interesting here. The thing about Simpson is
that he's obviously played much better than this week one.
The thing that I it makes me kind of question
just him in general, is like he stayed four years
and waited for this moment. That's not not what collegorable
is it anymore? If Simpson was that good, he would
have either played already for Bama or transferred out. We

(29:52):
don't see fifth year guys getting their first opportunity to
start in year five and that's concerning for me because
I thinking these games you do need, you know, some
of the uber talented individuals to step up, and I'm
don't know how uber talented he is. And if you're
on the road, Georgia's won i think thirty three straight

(30:12):
home games. Now it's so funny and some of the
talking points i've I've heard, like Georgia just doesn't lose
at home, Like, yeah, they're the best team in the country,
they shouldn't lose at home, like right, right, How they
built such a great home for the atmosphere, I don't
know that having the best players of the country certainly, right, yeah, yeah,
that really helps teams play well. And so but it

(30:34):
is again a hard place to play. It should be
a great game. So I think that's a lot of
points Duke that scored in this. I think both secondaries,
there's some concern there and some worry offensive line wise.
You know, Alabama supposed to have one of the best
of the country, Canaan Proctor's left tackle might be the
first tackle in the draft. It hasn't quite been I
think what they hoped as far as consistency upfront. So

(30:57):
we're very curious to see how that group I was
able to sort of get some consistency in a game
we're in. It's gonna rely a lot on their ability
to keep Simpson clean. And yeah, same time as organ
I probably won't. It will be on a television I
don't know how much I'll bet attention. I'm watching Oregon
Penn State. You know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (31:17):
Can the lack of a running game? This is what
scares me about Mama. There's two things. One, I know
it's weak. One, but man, I can't. I can't shake
that Florida State game. And you know, especially after watching
virginia 's, like, oh, put down the field on them, right,
And do they have enough running game of a run

(31:38):
game to to to make sure that you're you're balanced
enough against Georgia.

Speaker 3 (31:46):
Well, that's the thing is that you know, yet I
think that they their offensive line has just not been
as productive as I thought they would. And and it's
interesting about the you know that is like Klin to
board Washington. Man, they want to Joe Moore. Right, that's
an award I'm very proudly a member of voting a
committee for the Best Offense Line of the Country award essentially,

(32:06):
and that's what it is the best of all the
essentially is what it is. And you know, Washington won
when when Canto bor was at Washington, and so to
see the offensive line just not sort of play up
to the standard that we thought they would this year
is a little bit surprising to me. But again, like
they you know, it's a good opportunity today they're both

(32:28):
off buys. Georgia and Alabamas have had time to rest
to recover, so it's not a problem you know, in
this game at all. But again, I was I hope
to see their offense line play a little better for
for for Bambton, Georgia, I think it's one hundred and
fifteenth country and sacks they have zero sacks one sack
this year from the defensive line.

Speaker 2 (32:47):
Not Georgia. That mean, listen, I watched I watched the
Georgia defense with the Eagles, right, well, yeah, you know
they're all Georgia kids, and this is not a Georgia defen.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
Well it's it's definitely. Look, it's like fair to say,
like like there is a brain dump, talent dump like
that that happens, right, Like Georgia for so many years,
had all these guys go to the NFL, no matter
how well you recruit, you're going to have a lull.
Like you just can't. It's impossible to have three, four,

(33:21):
five straight years of Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter type players,
you know, and Nolan Smith type players like it's it's
it's impossible. It's impossible. And so I think we're seeing
that from Georgia. We have such high expectation of the defense,
as we should, but they're just not as talent as
they've been in the past. It's nothing that I'm not
saying that they're not good, they're just not as good
as they've been. They've had so many players go to

(33:42):
the NFL over the years that it's impossible to just
keep up with having the same amount of talent.

Speaker 2 (33:50):
Yeah, now, I I feel you. All right, let's take
a quick too. Maybe we have so much to cover.
It's just great, man.

Speaker 3 (33:59):
I love.

Speaker 2 (34:02):
Jeff Schwartz, Anthony Garganto. Big day of College NFL we have.
The International Series begins tomorrow morning from Dublin as the
NFL goes to Ireland, where the Fellas hang it out
right here on Fox Sports Radio, Welcome Back, Fellas. Jeff

presented by bet MGM, every Saturday and Sunday morning. We're
going to count you down to all the biggest games
for three hours right up until kickoff. For all the

(34:44):
Countdown to Kickoff, presented by bet MGM, every Saturday and
Sunday morning right here on Fox Sports Radio in the
iHeartRadio app. Have have you played abroad? Have you been
part of the lunch Now?

Speaker 6 (34:56):
No?

Speaker 3 (34:56):
So you know what's funny, So a lot of my career,
uh you know, we we that wasn't what we we did,
but was pretty funny is in twenty sixteen, the Giants
were going to go play the Rams in LA that
was on the schedule, but that ended up being a
National Series game, so that would have been in London.

(35:16):
Now I was now the Giants. I was released by
the Giants before I could play that game. But the
funny part about that is that my parents lived like
ten miles from the coliseum in Los Angeles. They would
have had to fly to London to see me play yea, yeah,
which would have been obviously a huge bummer for them

(35:37):
to have to make that trip instead of just driving
to experienced fun. Yeah. So I've not played in the
National Series. I think it would be a lot of fun.
And you know, this game is the Vikings are staying right,
They're going to be there for for for ten days
because they played one more game there after. Obviously it's

(35:59):
a little early for body clock maybe purposes at times,
but I don't really think it's gonna be that big
of it of a deal. They fly over what's today Sat,
So they got there yesterday and they'll be They'll be fine.
The games tend to be a little bit weird, whether
weird turf. Sometimes I never bet on these games. This

(36:19):
game never sees a single dollar of mine, buddy, And
it is a weird game to bet on, a weird game,
to watch them times, and I like it though. Look,
the game is spreading, right. You got game in Dublin.
We you mentioned it, you teased earlier, We're geting announced
went they're gonna be games in Rio de Janeiro. Now
there's gonna be there games in Germany and and and

(36:40):
so I heard the future too. I like the spreading
of a football around. ID it's great and let's uh look,
I do kind of kick off as you mentioned Sunday morning,
we'll have a game on to watch during the show,
which is kind of nice and I like it. I
don't mind it.

Speaker 2 (36:59):
Yeah, I like it to I'd be curious to see
how they kind of do it once they add the
eighteen game everybody plays an international piece, how they kind
of you know, working into the schedule will be interesting
with all these destinations, but uh, I'd like, Yeah, to me,
it's just another more football game, more football to watch,

(37:22):
you know. I love like waking up now. You know,
people on the West Coast get that right, like, you
know that's part of the deal. But now if you
got football on from eight am through you know, Sunday
night football which ends close to midnight on the East
Coast eleven thirty, I mean, that's a that's a great day.

Speaker 3 (37:41):
Oh buddy, The West Coast football watching is so good.
People don't realize that. It's so funny. The pushback I
always hear is like, what about tailgating When you're play
in the West Coast the game's locally at one o'clock.
You're playing Town of Tailgate. That's the best part is
the game started at ten am. In the NFL. I
still call it the morning afternoon window because when I
up that's what was on ten am and one o'clock

(38:01):
and then But the night game, it's it's just like
so nice to be done, you know, with with THEE.

Speaker 2 (38:07):
I don't get that. That's the one piece I don't
want that. You just said like it's nice to be done.
Like I don't want to be done at night. I
enjoyed the night football. Some of us like to sleep. Yeah,
you're not going to bed, come on like you know,
something like football and then and just what eleven thirty.

Speaker 3 (38:28):
Yeah, I will promise. I'll promise you this, Okay, Uh,
I stay up Thursday night to watch a game. Last
night I didn't stay up watching any football, even though
I was. I had a bet on Houston didn't win. Tonight.
I'll stay with obviously, watch Oregon Penn State play tomorrow night.
I'll stay awake Monday this week. The Monday is slate.
I ain't stayed away for that. Which do you normally

(38:50):
go to bed?

Speaker 7 (38:51):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (38:51):
If there's no football on ten thirty ten ten thirty. Yeah,
I let to sleep six thirty. You know, I'm a
I'm a I like to slumber where impossible. I don't
nap those I'm just I only sleep, and I just
sleep at nights. I'm a big napping person. Who's time
for nap? Well, time for nap? Yeah, I mean there's

(39:12):
a rare date.

Speaker 7 (39:12):
Now.

Speaker 2 (39:12):
I'm up at five point thirty five point fifteen every
day and I am in night out, and if I
have in my schedule, I have a lull usually around
I get home around three ish and I got until
five for practice, so I may two days a week

(39:36):
I'll grab a nap like you know, forty five minutes
and I feel great.

Speaker 3 (39:40):
Yeah yeah, So I would love. I would love to
get Now I can't do it. So I love West
Coast football. It's you know, I just don't like to
like I love when I find myself.

Speaker 2 (39:52):
That's my biggest problem is during when hockey and basketball
starts during the week, you know, I'll watch West Coast games.

Speaker 3 (40:03):
So the toughest part as someone who's raising kids, so
are you, is that when I was growing up in
the West Coast, there was always sports on during dinner
time every day of the week. That's not the same
case on these coast time zone, like there is right
there and that your kids just watched less sports in
these coast because of the time that's it. Huh yeah,

(40:26):
I could see that. I could see that. All right.

Speaker 2 (40:30):
Coming up, we got to talk about what's going on
in the NFL. I want to talk about Thursday night's game.
I want to talk about Jackson Dart. I want to
talk about possible Russell Wilson to the Bengals, because there's
a lot of steam for that. We'll get back to
the entire college football slate. But we got lots of stuff,

(40:50):
and this is a great weekend, man, that's going on.
Jeff Schwartz, Anthony Garganta, where the fella is right here
on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (41:00):
Listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (41:03):

Speaker 2 (42:03):
All right, I got one thing, one order of business, yeah,
and then and then I want to get to the
NFL stuff.

Speaker 3 (42:11):
Uh So, Arnie Spaniard, our good friend, Arnie.

Speaker 2 (42:15):
He and I go back and forth because it rankles
me that he wants to abolish Monday night football and
Thursday night for that matter. Why he doesn't like it.
He wants to ban it. He wants to abol he
doesn't like Monday night football, and he drives me insane.

(42:38):
So he misconstrued you going to bed as a victory
for him. He's like, you don't say anything, Juyce, Well,
Jeff didn't mean it like that. Now, for the record,
you don't want to ban Monday night football, correct, you
don't want to abolish it.

Speaker 3 (42:57):
I look, first of all, correct, I watch a lot
of football, stay awake a lot of nights. All right.
I'm not staying awake to watch the Jets and Dolphins play, okay,
or of the Broncos and the Bengals. Like, that's not
because I don't. I don't. I just don't want to
watch those teams play. I'd rather get an extra two

(43:18):
hours of sleep than from not. I'm not sleeping at
all during the week on the weekend, and like that's
the reason why I'm just gonna fall asleep. I'm just
I'm not gonna like plan it. I'm just gonna not.
I will fall asleep watching football. I just will. That's
what's gonna happen. I want football every night of the week.
Tuesday and Wednesday, I'm like, where's the ball at We're

(43:40):
a few weeks I have to watch like my wife's
show with her, Like tonight I'm gonna watch like some
show I don't care about. No, give me a football,
give me the football. So take that, Arnie, Take that, Arnie.
I want football every night of the week. I will
say after the Super Bowl, I'm okay taking a break
from football. Like by that, I've kind of reached my
limit with football because I super Bowl week. You know
this like is a lot is a lot happening if

(44:02):
you go to like to raid the row. But that's
the only time of year. I'm like, okay, enough football.
Otherwise I won all the football.

Speaker 2 (44:09):
Yeah, yeah, I'm with you, brother, I'm completely with you.
I decided to get that for the record for Arnie
because Arnie, uh, you don't give you give Jeff a
hard time. And my point was, Jeff didn't say abolish
Monday night football.

Speaker 3 (44:27):
I don't football.

Speaker 2 (44:28):
Only you, Arnie Kook that you are lovable cook, but none.

Speaker 3 (44:33):
Nevertheless, a Kook would want to ban Monday night football.
What's the reason why? What is dude?

Speaker 2 (44:39):
He's out of his mind. He's out of his mind.
He's first of all, he's a Dolphins fan. So that's
all you need to know, all right, So he just
doesn't want to watch Dolphins. Jeff from New York, he's
a Dolphins to grow up in the Bronx and he's
a Dolphins fan. I don't understand it. You grew up
in Miami, you're a Dophins fan. You grow up in
New York, you're a Giants fan. That's where Jets fan

(45:01):
that channel a big Speaking of the Giants, Jackson Dart
finally gets to start now. And I talked about this
during the during the preseason, and it was clear that
Jackson Dart has got a shot like he's got a
shot like you used to look at him, and he
looks like he's got a legitimate shot to make it.

Speaker 3 (45:23):
He's gonna play.

Speaker 2 (45:25):
He is a kid that comes from Lane Kiffin's offense
that understands playing in the SEC. I didn't even understand
why you messed around with Russ at all, knowing that
Russ right now is cooked, especially for that team.

Speaker 3 (45:44):
So Russell has been the same player for years. To
your point, I don't get it either. You know exactly
what you're getting. You got exactly what you what you
signed up for. I think more than anything else, and
I play for the Giants. You know the Giants well.
I think this move was made for two reasons. One

(46:04):
is obviously a kick any worse than it's been right,
Like that set of plays in the red zone to
end the game against the Chiefs were so embarrassed. The
first play, no one's opened. Now, to be fair, the
play calling was atrocious. Okay, it is what it is.
But there weren't great play calls. But the fact is

(46:24):
it was. It was bad. It was bad. Russell Wilson
throws the ball up the tunnel. I still think that's
one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life.
He is nowhere to throw the ball, throws the ball
thirty five yards up the tunnel. Intentional grounding. Next play,
you know, they again like the quarterback draw goes nowhere,
then again checked out, another grounding by the way he
throws the ball out the back of the end zone,

(46:45):
and then he throws a ball to the crossbar and fourth
down like a ball knock remotely close to any wide receiver.
And so it was time, like he was uninspiring, it
was time to go. It was time for him to
get Yeah, they're and bring someone else in. So you
want to do that, obviously, because you don't want to
lose the locker room. Like the players know, we know

(47:06):
who's good who's not. We know who's inspiring and who's not.
We know who can give us a little bit of
energy and who doesn't, and Jackson Dart brings them that
energy that Russell Wilson is just not going to bring.
But I think more important to the discussion is, you know,
the Giants owners are obviously prideful, right they would have been.
They would have had their stadium on Sunday against the

(47:30):
Chargers be filled with the loudest booze imaginable the second
Russell Wilson walked in that field. Oh yeah, yeah, and
and and and and La mar family just isn't going
to have that in their stadium now. And this, I
think a big driving factor in this was that idea
that we're not gonna get booed on Sunday with playing Dart.

(47:53):
And it's a tough game anyways. I don't buy Look, man,
I don't buy this idea that you save him for
the Saints next week. He has to play good teams
all season, the Eagles, right, the Commanders, it's the NFL.

Speaker 1 (48:08):
Man.

Speaker 3 (48:08):
Good luck buddy, like beginning charge, good luck buddy. Yeah.
I don't believe that you save him for for Also, too,
you can make the case the Giants want to beat
the Saints. They should be the same. Saints are really bad,
They're fifteen point under Douars in Buffalo right now, and
that if you play him this week and get him
a little bit of action, should be ready to play

(48:31):
New Orleans right like you should be to feel more comfortable.
It won't be his first game action. So I like
this move. Look to Russell Wilson discussion. It's been the
same guy for years. I don't know why they thought
he'd be any different, And it is really fascinating to me,
how uh, you know, people seem in the industry seem

(48:52):
okay just bashing him where they don't other quarterbacks, Like
they're openly we played the clip and you know and
during during the breaks about like Tony Gonzalez what he
said and and whatnot and what other player are said
about it will So they seem very open to just
saying Russell Wilson is not very good, and they don't
you know a lot of former players, you know. I mean,

(49:12):
she doesn't like well Sherman doesn't like him, clearly we
know that. But I'm just saying in general, they they
seem very open to just rip in the guy. And
there's got to be a personality thing there right where
his personality just does not mess with with teammates and
I and when you're and when you're winning, it doesn't
matter when you're winning all that stuff, it doesn't matter whatsoever.

(49:35):
When you lose and you don't play as well, then
the personalities and you know the way, it ends up
being an issue moving forward. So uh, I know guys
have played with them in Denver. They said, it's kind
of just like has an on off switch. He is
on and then he's off, and it's kind of weird
when he's off, and then when he's on and and

(49:56):
I think he's corny. I just from watching him, you know,
preparing to like run out the tunnel, if you remember
that whole thing where he was like, it's just it's
too much, I think, And I think this is the
problem with well, I think that's the problem with with
Wilson as a player is you of course have to prepare.

(50:17):
That's part of sports. We know that. But there are
a lot of times where you have to make plays
in sports that are not on the paper as drawn
up right. That's that's what sports is. And Russell Wilson,
to me, is a guy who has become so robotic
that when his first read is not open, he cannot
figure out what to do after that, and so you
end up in a situation where and that's the way

(50:39):
he plays, right, one read pulled the ball down. That's it, right,
and that's I think what we see what he's he
over prepares, right, so in these big moments, he he
kind of tenses up, doesn't know what to do with
the ball because he's over prepared. And Jackson darr is

(51:00):
I mean, I don't know underprepared the right word, but
he's just he's a rookie, like he's gonna just run around,
make plays, try to do fun things with the ball,
and you might when you might lose, I don't know,
but you're gonna, at least, I think, enjoy the Jackson
are experience a little bit more, and you'll be more
prepared for him for next season when it really matters.
And look, lastly, Brian Dables, if trying to save his job,
you know that that's you know, he's got to do

(51:21):
that by by obviously playing Jackson Dart.

Speaker 2 (51:25):
So I think one of the issues of Russ, why
Russ is cooked is Russ lost his legs, right like
Russ's game because he's so small. Russ's game was all
about his legs. It was all about, you know, moving
to find windows. And it worked. Like you know, he

(51:49):
had great legs. He was able to move, he was
able to get windows to throw, he was able to
find throwing lanes. He moved to throw and it worked
and he was good. But the minute his legs went,
that's it. I mean, you could see it. He doesn't
have quickness or bursts like he had. And now he

(52:10):
has no throwing lanes, which is why you have to
rely on the moon ball, because you can't see. He
can't look at those windows. And therein lies why I floont.
He was cooked two years ago when he lost his legs,
and I was shocked. The Giants even went through the
process of having him start. Mike Garrafalo was a friend

(52:34):
of mine, was we were debating yesterday from the NFL network,
and we were debating yesterday the whole thing. He said, well,
you know, Russell Wilson could win games. You're the Giants.
What are you winning. You're not winning anything, right. There's
the whole idea of Dable is to keep his job,

(52:55):
to develop dart so that you can really have a
good to have some young talent there that you could
certainly you're building and you could say something if you
if you have Dark and develop him next year, you
could be you could be looking to win, you know,
it could be for the division.

Speaker 3 (53:13):
Yeah, I think, I oh, the best path with a
young quarterback is to let them sit. I think if
you were to choose the best path forward, you would
always choose sitting. Right, you'd always choose let him sit
for any amount of time, one game, two games of
the entire season, like they That would always be your choice, right,

(53:34):
that would always be your choice. But it didn't work
out this way. Russell Wilson wasn't giving you what you needed.
Russell Wilson wasn't giving you consistent offensive play. It didn't
look like they were ever in a rhythm offensively looks
they scored six points against the Commanders, thirty seven against
the Bun Cowboys, and then nine against the Chiefs. That's

(53:56):
not it's not good enough. It's not good enough. And
so I get I disagree with you on one thing.
What there are certain kids that need to sit and
certain kids that need to play. Anphobe Richardson is a
kid who needed to sit. Jackson Dart is a kid
who can play right away and he needs to get reps.

(54:19):
I'm not saying that that that they're not players that
are not ready to play immediately. I think, all things
being considered, if you had to choose, Okay, I can
win games with a quote unquote backup or a veteran
and let my young guy sit and not rush him
into playing, that would always be the preferred way over

(54:40):
rushing a rookie in. I'm not saying that no one's
ready to play. I'm not saying that like Jack's Dart
is not cable of playing or shouldn't be playing. I'm
saying if you had the ideal way to do it.

Speaker 2 (54:50):
Yeah, and you're you're you're not talking about rookie contracts either, right,
like you're just talking about development. Yeah, I mean, listen,
the more time that you are able to be in
a good quarterback room.

Speaker 3 (55:01):
It also depends on who's the room, who's the O C.

Speaker 2 (55:05):
There's all those other external factors at play as well.
But yeah, normally, you know, I could see it. I'm
just talking about this situation with the Giants. Dart has
to play, has to play, and he needs to play
from the start.

Speaker 3 (55:19):
I'm well, I agree, I agree with you and sometimes, look,
you have a plan and your plan gets derailed because
of because your your quarterback stinks. You got to play
dark early. And so I think it's probably a rough
game this weekend for him. The Chargers are looking to
go four, and oh, I think it's very possible that happens,

(55:40):
and like that's that's that's the NFL and you go
to and you hope you win. In New Orleans. I
made some wagers that I love. I took like Giants
to win zero or one games for the first five
games of the season, and so I'm gonna hit one
of them. They're both plus money, so I'll make money here,
I think. And look, unless they win this weekend, I
think it's unlikely that when the way the way the
Chargers play the Chargers, the charge are not a team

(56:02):
that ever has like down games because it's just impossible.
It's just impossible to like not show up for a game.
And so it's the thing about playing New York too,
it's it's now MetLife Stadium is very boring, Like it's
just a boring stadium and there's not it's not as
much energy is like you know the link, Like it's
like we're play in Philly. It's like a different environments

(56:24):
or the Commanders or even the Cowboys. But it's the Giants,
man Like, you're up to play New York. You're going
to very rarely find teams like not showing up to
play in MetLife Stadium. It's New York City, man like,
you're the like I know, I know it's not in
New York City. Don't come at me. But you know,
people get up to play the Giants, you know. So
I think charge will be very rare to play this game,

(56:45):
and I think it'll be tough for the Giants. But again,
guys that you have in Dart and getting ready to
play in New Orleans game, you should win.

Speaker 2 (56:52):
Yeah. Now let me ask you this. Let's let's now
talk flip side of Russ. And if you're the Bengals,
I mean, obviously Brownie can't play. I mean, he can't
play an entire season. Would you take a flyer? I

(57:13):
mean I would go Cousins first. If I'm looking to
trade for somebody, would you take a flyer on Russ?
Now having those receivers, would you take a flyer?

Speaker 7 (57:26):
No?

Speaker 3 (57:26):
Because Russell Wilson, No, he's I know, I wouldn't you
talk about his lack of mobility now compared to what
he wants in the past with that offensive line. He's cooked, man,
I agree, he's gonna drop the ball. He's gonna drop
his eyes immediately and and that's the end of it.
I would be hard passed on Russell Wilson in my
in my mind, so I would, I know, I no,

(57:52):
and you just I actually think that there's an opportunity
maybe mid season to some trades. And I would not
be surprised if if Hendrickson, you know, got a call
from you know, the forty nine ers, Hey, man, like
we need to d end you know, Boso's hurt. Can

(58:12):
can we pick up Hendrickson? Like, I think there's opportunities
for the Bengals to offload some guys rather than take
on Russell Wilson. Try to win something now. Now, if
they win their money, which I think is very hard
to do, there could be two up on the on
the Ravens off the Ravens lose to the Chiefs this weekend,
So there's the idea. I think the it's probably a
false hope that you win this weekend. The Ravens lose,

(58:35):
Like we're in it. You're not in it. You're you're
not winning the division, right, So don't have the false
hope might make him do some some silly things. I
will say, you know, if the Ravens lose this weekend,
there is no better time to be wait them to
win the division than after this weekend. I'll tell you that.
I'm actually if you wage, you now, what is it
to win the division? I'm looking right now. Actually, well, no,

(58:55):
you'll get it better. It depends on who you think
is gonna win, by the way, I beleive Baltimore, Beachkins City. Okay,
so if you if you think that, then then do
it now. Uh it's still it's heavy minus three three fifty,
so I would, but you could. You could put that
together with like the Links, who are down to one
in the series to Phoenix, which is I didn't think

(59:17):
it was gonna happen, Minnesota, Lynx. You can. You can
mix these wagers together, like put the Links to win winks. Yeah, no,
you parlay this together. So like the Links, like you
make to make you're gonna lay it fifty. I can't
watch I don't I don't see I used to watch it.
I'm saying you you put them together so you can
get a better payout. Like that's how you do something

(59:37):
like do you want to pay minus three fifty in
the future?

Speaker 2 (59:39):
No, you I would, I wouldn't do it. I but
I but I don't know why anything about the links.
I don't know anything about the w n B A,
So I can't you know, I wouldn't intelligently, I couldn't
do that.

Speaker 3 (59:51):
Well, that's how you should listen to me and sometimes
trying to Well, now you listen, you are you are
the man, do it or do this or you you're stuff. Okay,
here's the deal here, what do you do? You do
the Ravens at minus three fifty to the division and
then you just you can add on like even something
like uh even just like start doing money lines. I

(01:00:13):
think the Lions to win this weekend and you have
to wait a little bit. I got or to do.
Who everything's going to win the World Series, which is
who knows at it should be a figure out, you know,
who wins the MVP, even we have no idea when's MVP.
Conroll is slight favorite feels like right Andrew the better player?

Speaker 2 (01:00:31):
Though yeah, no, no, it's yeah, it's a great. We
got to about a little baseball too, But it's a
fascinating thing. What do you do? And I want you
to think about this, what what do you do if
your because it's wild? What's going on Minnesota? Because I
want to go kind of look at all the quarterback

(01:00:51):
situations Minnesota has now again it was a defensive, you
know game, but Wentz played well, right, So what's that situation?
Like what happened to the Falcons last week? We got
to discuss that. So there's issues that we got to
discuss all.

Speaker 3 (01:01:11):
Over the league. We'll do that coming up.

Speaker 2 (01:01:14):
My only fear about the Ravens this week is man,
no matabeak way and when you're missing that line is
tough man because their defense lost its teeth a little bit,
and we saw that the lines were great and what
a game by the lines.

Speaker 3 (01:01:32):
We have to talk about that one as well. So
much to go over.

Speaker 2 (01:01:37):

Speaker 1 (01:02:31):
Shot onto again, breaking ball, hitting the air, left field
pretty deep, going back to the wall and looking up
outfit that is gone and the Godo Sosa has homeward again.

Speaker 8 (01:02:42):
There's eleventh home run of the season and the Phillies
now lead it two to nothing.

Speaker 3 (01:02:48):
And there it is.

Speaker 2 (01:02:49):
That's courtesy of Phillies, Radio, Phillies and Brewers.

Speaker 3 (01:02:53):
Interesting.

Speaker 2 (01:02:53):
Brewers need one win or a Phillies loss to clinch
the top spot and home field throughout.

Speaker 3 (01:03:01):
Phillies will get the two seed.

Speaker 2 (01:03:04):
Uh, they'll play, they'll both be off in the wildcard round.
Dodgers will likely play the Mets, but Mets lose, Reds win,
that's tied, so we still got business.

Speaker 3 (01:03:20):
Astros lose a tough one.

Speaker 2 (01:03:21):
They're up free nothing last night and lose four to
three to the Angels.

Speaker 3 (01:03:27):
It's it's going down in the last weekend, Jeff, it is,
but that's I mean, you play that many games, it's
bound to come down to the last weekend. I think
the most interesting storyline, you know, is just who is
the favorite right now to win the championship. I probably
the Dodgers again because of their depth, and you just
need that up. I mean, people talk about, oh, their bullpen.
They're gonna just put two of their starters in the
bullpen like it's gonna it's not gonna be a problem.

Speaker 2 (01:03:50):
But interestingly, to your point, then Emma Shean thrown in yesterday. Yeah,
so he's their young tat rookie starter who's really good,
who will pitch out of the pen.

Speaker 3 (01:04:03):
So I think they're.

Speaker 2 (01:04:03):
Giving him a taste, and they gave him one inning
last night and then shut him down.

Speaker 3 (01:04:08):
I like uh, I like the Mariner's story. I think
that they the way they play and their play style
certainly is championship material. So I think, you know, you
have to be able to do a couple of things
to win the World Series, and one of them is
just have big hits. I don't think you can sort
of nickel and dime your way, you know, a bunt,
a single, a double, Like, you have to just hit

(01:04:29):
massive home runs in the postseason. And they do that.
They have pitching as well. They're they're a lot of fun.
Uh And you know, I think the al Central the
Tigers blowing that lead is like and then last night
they blew the three run lead to the head socks
a chance to go up by a game there. So
that that to me, like, it's it's fun, man, baseball,

(01:04:52):
this is like October. Baseball is a ton of fun.
I think baseball is the most stressful sport to watch
the postseason if you have rooting, rooting interest in it.
And it's because every pitch feels like the most important
pitch of the game for nine innings. And it's just
it's it's stressful to watch. Well, well, playoff baseball and

(01:05:14):
playoff hockey. Right, you get hockey, you get I feel
like you get a little bit of lull when they're
you know, when they're rotating guys out, when they're doing
line chips, like you get a tiny bit of a
break at times. You know, the balls you know it
the puckets between the blue lines. You're like, you're fine
baseball though, I just just every pitch man feels like

(01:05:35):
it is just heavy. And so my team stinks we
will not be the postseason. But I I love you Giants,
all right, right right, I forgot you. We're perfectly average,
Like we're as average as it comes, which is I
don't know. I mean fine, it's been everyone else. Well,
he got a little hot late, like the last month.

(01:05:58):
He's starting to hit. I think you put it in
a coby cove the other night, so he started hit
a little better.

Speaker 2 (01:06:05):
Yeah, I mean listen, I mean they'll be all right,
they'll get still tweet all you need to tweak de
some you got some decent there's some decent talent there.

Speaker 3 (01:06:15):
Yeah, but more pitch the Dodgers. Yeah, well, uh it is.

Speaker 2 (01:06:23):
You're right about the stress of baseball is so interesting, man.
Every pitch matters because you never know could be it.
It's it's got that. And I'll ask you this, and
then we'll get to the quarterbacks. Would you, if you
were the commissioner and you could get it by you know, everyone,

(01:06:46):
would you tweak the regular season? Shorten it and then
make the last two months playoffs.

Speaker 3 (01:06:55):
What do youanboy? The last two months playoffs?

Speaker 2 (01:06:57):
So in other words, you like, what I would do
is I would end the season right after Labor Day, okay,
and then move up the playoffs and I would have
and then I would expand the first round.

Speaker 3 (01:07:11):
I would make it seven games, seven games, seven games.

Speaker 2 (01:07:15):
Like having a Like you play one sixty two and
then think about it. This division series is crazy. It's
so short. Like if something happens weird and say it's
the Mets again and they get in, they could beat
the Dodgers and the Dodgers would be out in three games. Now,
I mean, you know, a five game series in the

(01:07:37):
division round, it doesn't seem equitable to play after you
play one sixty two.

Speaker 3 (01:07:44):
I get that. I'm not sure that it's the first
rounding seven games, but understand look it's the more games
in a series, the more it favors the better team.
And that's the reward of obviously having a better record, right,
is being able to have more games, And you're to
your point is very well taken us again, like that's
the goal is to have the better teams, in my opinion,
with a leg up and you do that by making

(01:08:06):
this series longer. So I'm with you. I don't think
the first the posting is so convoluted. To me, so
they you know, two teams get it by and they
have wildcard round. To me, it just needs to be
simplified as well. It's too complicated. You should know exactly
how it goes. I have no idea how it goes now.

Speaker 2 (01:08:26):
It's even got to pick a lane, right, Either you're
gonna go one st two and then have you know,
a just a playout like I have two divisions like
they used to have it and then have them play
in an NLCS ALCS and World Series and had that,

(01:08:46):
or you got to sell out to the playoff idea.
But the way you have it now, I don't think
it's fair. It's either you go the NBA NHL route
or you just go back to what it was, which
is which they'll never do.

Speaker 3 (01:09:01):
But at least it's more the regular season matters. Yeah,
I mean the rest of it doesn't matter because it seems,
you know, those buys are important. We've seen actually the
teams they have the buy struggle off the buy right,
So that's something I'm actually curious about too. Do we
see that again this year where the teams with the
long wayoff struggle again. Does Baseball change things around so
that those teams don't have that long of a wayoff?

(01:09:23):
That that, to me is a pretty important thing. We've
seen teams with the buye man they struggle, They struggle
to compete ely those series.

Speaker 2 (01:09:31):
All right, Uh, let me get you back to football
and let me ask because we talked a little bit
about the Dublin game. So tomorrow morning it's Vikings and
Steelers from Dublin. Carson Wentz quarterback for Minnesota. Now, listen,
I thought he would play well, but really it was

(01:09:53):
their defense, like their d they create turnovers. I mean
it was out of a lie, it was out of
hand early. But he did look good. And I'm curious
against Pittsburgh does the Wentz thing Now, if he starts
to play well, at what point do you have a

(01:10:13):
decision or do you just not have a decision.

Speaker 3 (01:10:17):
Well, so, so it's I think it's kind of simple.
If you think McCarthy is never gonna be your franchise quarterback,
then don't play him. It's that simple that you wasted
a draft pick. This is this is an interesting over again, right,
a quarterback that we know needs time to develop, and
are you gonna give him the time to develop? Are
you gonna go right to Carson Wentz? And that that's

(01:10:38):
the thing too though it's also Carson Wentz man, like
we've seen enough Carson Wentz, like we know exactly how
this is going to actually end up in the end.
So they've been very clear about McCarthy coming back in
which I think is the absolute right call. It's great
you can have a backup to do that. But again
your point, like they they allowed ten points, I mean,
the defense was incredible, Like you may have to do
very much. I'm terrified if if Carson Wentz is actually

(01:11:01):
doing anything in a game, what's going to happen? So
I am in favor of what they're doing. Right. You
play Wentz as a backup as long as you need to,
and McCarthy at least right now gets the ball back
when it's his CERTN.

Speaker 2 (01:11:15):
And you don't you don't milk it a week just
to see No, I think you I think when McCarthy's
health you put him back because look, again, you want
to be in the postseason, right like you you're a
team that aspires.

Speaker 9 (01:11:24):
To make a puston. You have to play. He's got
to play. He's gotta You're right, he's got to play.
And I feel you on Wentz. I'm just curious the
last two stops.

Speaker 2 (01:11:39):
Right, you're with Shanahan Naxa, you're at McVeigh and you're
with Andy amy Reid. So you were two really good coaches,
kind of rehab, kind of understand the position better. And
now you're with koc who I love, I think is

(01:11:59):
really good coach, and you got those weapons, Like if
he was ever going to get that talent and it
was ever going to come together, it would be now
having been in those other quarterback rooms of those other coaches,
and now with Kevin O'Connell.

Speaker 3 (01:12:18):
Right, I think I think though able to get the
most out of him. But we've seen what that looks
like though. I don't. I just I just don't think
we're going to have some some spiritual talent awakening in Minnesota.

Speaker 2 (01:12:33):
So you don't think that there's anything more like here.
Here's the thing about the guy. I always thought he
had raw ability, like he had athleticism, a big arm.
Now he had a tencent head and was not coachable.
My only my only belief is, well, if he's around

(01:12:55):
good coaches and matures, Kenny actually be better than he was.

Speaker 3 (01:13:04):
That's my question. I vote no. I just vote no.
I don't really I don't really know wo be any
different over a set Again, the difference between being a
spot starter for two weeks and actually getting the job
full time. I think getting a job full time, we're
not gonna We do not see a quarterback who's down, So.

Speaker 2 (01:13:24):
You don't believe that anyone can be rehad to that
level Baker did.

Speaker 3 (01:13:30):
But I think Baker is just always better, you know,
he's just he found Yeah, Baker was more Cleveland. It
was more Cleveland Caroline and him. Yes, So I just
don't expect whence to, I don't expect to be that
much different if he gets an actual starting job. And
again it is all because mister McCarthy's job. Anyways. Yeah,

(01:13:52):
all right, quick t o.

Speaker 2 (01:13:54):
We come back and continue our foray around football back
to college early next hour, and then we get the
brain joining us to go over your weekend's card from
a betting standpoint. Lot's to cover where the fellas right
here on Fox Sports Radio, Fellas Jeff and it hanging

(01:14:17):
this morning has a it's a great, great weekend, great

All right, Uh, Jeff, Before we get back to cops,
because I do want to get us back to college
in a minute.

Speaker 3 (01:15:17):
What do you see from Arizona?

Speaker 2 (01:15:20):
Because I see it just feels like the same Kyle
of Merry. Like while Marvin Marvin, Marvin, it's still Merry.

Speaker 3 (01:15:30):
He just isn't good enough. I mean it very simple,
he just is not good enough. It's it's that simple.
We don't have to be a complicated buddy. He's just
not good enough. It's been that level of franchise. He's
a franchise quarterback, but a franchise winning quarterback, like you know,

(01:15:55):
like a difference maker to where you're winning playoff games,
you're winning super Bowl. He's just fine. He's fine. And
that's what I see when I watch him play. I
think you're right.

Speaker 2 (01:16:08):
I think you're I think you're you're right on, right
on with that, and I think that's that's your biggest issue.

Speaker 3 (01:16:15):
Now. Meanwhile, Seattle's good.

Speaker 2 (01:16:19):
Look I'm not telling you Donald is is you know,
an elite, but I mean he just like you did
last year.

Speaker 3 (01:16:28):
Now, there could be another issue, but he fits like
at Smith and Jigbit. It's what a plot like. We
knew he was good coming out of Ohio State.

Speaker 2 (01:16:36):
He's such a great play he's such a great blocker
on the edge in the run game like Seattle's and
the Seattle's young.

Speaker 3 (01:16:45):
That's a good team. Yeah, I thought, I'm sounds interesting
to me. I don't know how they're fine. I don't
know how good they are, but they're also I mean
the three one they've done a good jobs so far
the season. I just uh, I think the takeaway is
Arizona and Colin Murray are just just men man Like

(01:17:09):
there's like all right, I mean they you know Murray
is he come and go as Murray and he gets
some bath throwser like. Look, mar Merrison Junior is not
helping out. He can't catch a football. He finally obviously
caught one at the end, but a touchdown. But he's
not played well. Just it hasn't looked like it should
offensively with a with a quarterback like that. I like Seattle, listen.

Speaker 2 (01:17:32):
I think the Rams in the class in that division easily,
but I'll take Seattle over the over the Niners, especially
this banged up Niners team.

Speaker 3 (01:17:42):
With the banged ub Niners. That party is back this weekend.
But Nick Bosa is a big one. I'm not a
big party guy, so that's That's never been a big
party guy. So I but he's I think he in
the offense, he's obviously good. I'm not saying that he's
like the best quarter I mean, I think Shanahan's a
great coach, right, but Party makes the plays in the
offense though, I mean, you have to give him credit

(01:18:03):
for that, but the Niners just win a ton of
games with the caveat that Bosa. I wonder if theners
go find trying to find themselves a uh, you know,
Cam Jordan, Trey Hendrickson, like someone in the deadline. If
if they're getting to the point where okay, like we're

(01:18:24):
gonna be good if you're guys, well, not too But
I'm talking about defensively, if they need another pass rusher. Now,
Mikay Williams played well so far as a rookie. Maybe
he takes the spot of Bosa, but then Iers defense
and it's no surprise the numbers are worse when Bosa's
not on the field. Again, not surprise, I'm breaking We're
not breaking any any new news here. But I do
wonder if guess the point where they want to trade

(01:18:45):
for someone?

Speaker 2 (01:18:48):
Yeah, I don't, I don't. I'm not in love with
that team, I know. But three and oh that to me,
it's been smoking mirrors a three and oh piece. I'm
I'm unimpressed. You know who impresses me?

Speaker 3 (01:19:01):
The line that Lions game the other night was so
impressive with Dan Campbell has done losing both coordinators.

Speaker 2 (01:19:11):
How about the Saint Brown The pitch to Saint Brown,
pitched to Gibbs play on fourth down.

Speaker 3 (01:19:23):
I so, do we give Dan Campbell enough credit for
the offense because they switched over to a new corner,
they're running the same we don't. Your short answer, yeah right,
I think, and I think that as good as Ben
Johnson is, as good as Mordan could be, as oc
it's Dan Campbell, man, it's Dan Campbell. He's the reason

(01:19:44):
why it all works out. It all looks creative, it
all looks fun. The Lions came in there and pounded
the raven. They had a ninety eight yard with ninety
eight yards right, ninety eight yard drive and just like
just it look the lines, offensive line, great offensive line
coach in Hank Frayley. But you know, they had some changes,

(01:20:06):
they have some rookies, like these guys are playing well,
they're building confidence. Their defense will probably be a prom
this season. But man, I was so impress after they
started a week one.

Speaker 2 (01:20:16):
Dude, I'm with you. I well, I'm sewing you heard
me say. Like, first of all, I love their offense.
I love Gibbs and Montgomery having those two backs and
everything goes well for that. So all right, we got
a Big Hour ahead, so don't go anywhere. It's the
fellows on a big Fox Football Weekend.

Speaker 3 (01:20:40):

our fine production team.

Speaker 3 (01:21:21):
We appreciate them, we love them. Big Hour.

Speaker 2 (01:21:25):
We go back to college football, joining us in about
twenty minutes. Twenty five minutes. We'll talk to the brain
and go through the card from a betting standpoint. I
know where that's Jeff's head's at right now, but let's
look at today's top twenty five action. It's an awesome
day of football, all right, Jeff getting it started.

Speaker 3 (01:21:47):
Big noon kickoff on Fox.

Speaker 2 (01:21:50):
USC Illinois ILLINOI coming off the droming to Indiana.

Speaker 3 (01:21:56):
Indiana laid them a beaten. Yeah. Quick note, as we
get into the schedule today, there are eight ranked teams
on the road against against unranked teams. Eight of them.
Did you count last night Florida Yeah, yeah, and TCU
on the road to Arizona State, and those ranked teams

(01:22:17):
are owing to Florida State lost. TCU lost, So worth
noting today, guys, could be a day of chaos within
college football. Worth again worth noting that that's that's quite
a possibility, and a couple of those options before getting
into this game. Notre Dame, Notre Dame. I actually, No

(01:22:40):
Dame loses, so nonetheless, wow, yeah, I think they lose.
Ohio States in that state, it's gonna win. But again, nonetheless,
let's get to the game you mentioned. So a couple
of things to note here. I went to Oregon at
north Western. It was a minion kickoff game. It was

(01:23:02):
a West Coast school coming out east to play that
noon Pacific noon easter kickoff with the nine am bodyclock
game for the West Coast team. And as much as
Oregon said to me, to everyone, it wasn't going to matter.
We've done that, We've done what we had to do
to get the guys who are ready to play nine
o'clock in the morning. They look like they were playing

(01:23:24):
nine o'clock in the morning. No matter what you do, man,
And so I think Illinois has the opportunity early in
this game off that embarrassment last week took to start
fast against USC. The problem is they're not going to
finish fast in this game. Luke Altmeyer has been bad
against good teams the last couple of years. They are

(01:23:46):
so injured right now on the secondary, their best secondary
players out. I think their middle linebackers out for the
first half for targeting. And which is the dumbest rule.
Why are we ejecting players for targeting? And do you know?
I do you know? If you get okay, if you
if you get a targeting penalty on the final play
of the first half, okay, you missed the second half, right, Yes,

(01:24:09):
that's it. If you've got a targeting on the first
play of the second half, you missed the entire second
half and the entire first half the next week. Does
that make sense to you? I know, I know it
makes no sense. So it makes no sense targeting. It doesn't.
No one's thinking to themselves. I don't want to hit
someone the head because I'm gonna be ejected. They just

(01:24:29):
don't want the penalty, you know, like and a lot
of times it's unavoidable, right because the way the bodies
are flying and moving around, like it just happens. Man.
So I think an Anthony today. Illinois early in the game, prideful,
like we're gonna start fast, We're gonna make amends. But
over the course of sixteen minutes, and USC this year
has been really, really good in the fourth quarter of games.

(01:24:51):
It's sort a ton of points this season. I think
USC wins the game. I actually think they cover the
full game eventually, but early on if the Illinois is
a little bit of an edge.

Speaker 2 (01:25:01):
Yeah, I can see that. Yeah, yeah, I can see that.
All right, let's keep going. You say Notre Dame loses
at Arkansas today?

Speaker 3 (01:25:10):
Yeah? So arkotsal last week embarrassing, right, good for Ryan
so Fu in Memphis. They're a twenty eight ten and
they they lose that. It's not great. Their offense is
really good. Green's a lot of fun at quarterback. The
Irish defensively are just bad, man, They're bad. But we

(01:25:32):
can't stop anyone. Now. Part of that is they're young
in the secondary at some places, and they're just their
defense lines are small. It's not a big defensive line.
I think Arkansas today makes amends for we saw last
week and gets the upset, and then Notre Dame's out
of the playoffs. They're out of the playoff.

Speaker 2 (01:25:49):
Yeah, it's why. I mean, I think the games will
be close. I don't think. I don't think they lose.
I mean, you're on the listen. I think Arkansas is fun.
I think Notre Names offense is also. Notre Names offense
will score. I don't see him going down, you know,

(01:26:13):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (01:26:16):
I Well, Arkansas made my contest card today. Really Okay,
Well listen, you're you know, you're the pro. So did
Houston and that didn't work out last night. So we'll
see how well you're the pro.

Speaker 2 (01:26:30):
Show Ohio State Washington. Can Washington give them a scare?

Speaker 3 (01:26:38):
Yes? I'm actually looking at it's interested in the tweet
right now from Jonathan vent Tobe who works at Visen
and they do a college super contest right where they
that's what I'm part of the College Super Contest And
the consensus number two pick is Washington plus eight and
for the season that the top seven consensuspit set you

(01:27:00):
picked seven games against the spread. I think I'm sixteen
twelve heading into this week, so good start. And so
the top seven entries, number two is Washington plus eight
on the season. The top seven entries are nine eighteen
and one against the spread. So just telling you, like
you don't want to be on the public side the

(01:27:21):
Oregon's third which terrifies me. Nonetheless, the thing about this game,
so Washington's quarterback DeMont Williams is really a fantastic athlete.
He's not a great passer of the ball when he's
in the actual pocket, and ohios that can keep him
in the pocket, whether that's Caleb downspy someone spy him.

(01:27:41):
They got a chance to make this a big, a
big win for them if they let DeMont Williams start
using his legs and start being active like they're award
will hurt. Washington has one great wide receiver Boston first
round picked six', four big kid Like Jeremiah, smith but
not as, good, right just a big wide. Right Jenah coleman's.
Good but it's worth Noting washington tied at twenty one

(01:28:05):
Against Colorado state in the third. Quarter they got interception
colleor sate fail and a couple downs one thirty eight twenty.
One last week Against Washington, state it's thirty one to twenty.
Four in the fourth quarter they get a pick six
a fumble that can out of. Hand the father spars
fifty nine to twenty. Four it was thirty one to twenty.
Four SO i just want to like The washington. Is

(01:28:26):
they've played closer games in the final. Score this game
also comes down To Julian sayin's first road. Game how
do they mitigate the noise In? Washington so really hard
plays the play haven't lost on five years at. HOME
i actually Think ohisse covers it might be Mercy Jricky.
EARLY i don't know how to, say just much.

Speaker 2 (01:28:45):
BETTER Lsu Old miss is a great, one all, Right
Old miss a.

Speaker 3 (01:28:54):
Favorite now this will be a true test of THE lsu.
Defense it will be like if it's to take the, over,
right that's what He's that's what he said on social.
Media that's so we take the. Over, yeah, LOOK i
THINK lsu is probably better. OVERALL i know they're waiting

(01:29:14):
for Nuss, meyer who's been a little bit beat, up
to sort of take the next step of the defense
has been it's been. FANTASTIC i, MEAN i just should
just take the, over just take the. OVER i don't
this game IS i don't, know, DUDE i don't. KNOW
i don't have a GREAT i don't have any tough.
GAME i actually LIKE l S. U i think be

(01:29:36):
played where it's an Old.

Speaker 2 (01:29:37):
Miss, okay yeah, no and that's Why Old miss is
a favorite and there's a lot of heat On Old.

Speaker 3 (01:29:44):
MISS i don't. KNOW i believe in THE l S u. Defense,
OKAY i got. NOTHING i, Know i've got nothing on this. One,
Man i'm. RAGER i got. No some of these, games
you just you don't have to have a wager every. Game.
EVERYBODY i, KNOW i, KNOW i know it's. Crazy we're
just talking at the. Game that's a crazy. THING i
don't really. KNOW i don't really. Know, UH i don't

(01:30:07):
know who wins that. Game it's a toss up to.
Me it's, good it's it's it's good.

Speaker 2 (01:30:11):
FOOTBALL a AND M. Auburn that's another three thirty. Eastern
uh that looks like a go.

Speaker 3 (01:30:19):
One? Uh All, burn how do you how do you
bounce back man mentally after that game last week where
you not only lost but you, lost and the referees
came out an hour. Later we're, like, sorry we screwed
up a, lot just mentally coming back and. Playing that's
gonna be, TOUGH i feel, like you, know and so

(01:30:41):
we'll see what they. Do, obviously if you want to
be the team that they want to, be you have
to you have to do. That and and, Uh i'm,
curious you, know to watch, that watch that. Happen i'll
BE i got flag football till like three thirty. DAYS
i want to missing these early games kind of a.
Bummer oh do you Really, yeah, yeah two. O'clock it's raining,
today but you're playing the. Rain my son's so. Funny
yesterday we're, like we played baseball last night in the.

(01:31:02):
Drizzle for most of the. Game it rained like the whole,
game but it was. Fine and he was, like you
know tomorrow like, football like you're gonna's supposed to. Rain
you have to play in the. Rain and he, said he's, like,
oh we're a. Sweatshirt like go, buddy it's eighty agrees
that just be, Wet just be a, boy just like get.
Wet it's. Okay it's like to get get dirty and
wet and and have fun being uh being a being a.
Kid he's so he's he's very like a very like prepared.

(01:31:24):
Child god. Bless. YEAH i MEAN i was rolling in the.
Mud you, know there's no we got turf. Field now
there's no you, know no one plays.

Speaker 4 (01:31:33):
It.

Speaker 3 (01:31:33):
Mundy. Yeah now we have we have a, like we
have a game. Today well we play at one. Thirty,
yeah we're Too, yeah so all my phone on. Me
i'll be watching uh my son and watching some of
these early games on THE uh on. Telephone.

Speaker 2 (01:31:49):
HERE i got a tough, weekend, man of Now i'm
free to like to Watch Penn state Beat, oregon BUT
I i got a Tough we have a game at one,
thirty SO i help, coach, right so we'll you, Know
i'll be there at a quarter after, Twelve and it's
our first home game of the, year so it's like

(01:32:11):
a big deal like the you, know concessions and parents
like it'll be it's always a good crab. Like so
we'll have all four divisions of our youth league. There nice,
play so it's a fun you, know and the field
we had a lot of rain, yesterday so the feel
will be pretty. Muddy and but you, know, listen it's

(01:32:33):
and we. Play we're pretty. Good we play a team
that won it last, year so it's a pretty big
game for.

Speaker 3 (01:32:40):
Us, nice so that'll be.

Speaker 2 (01:32:42):
Fun and then we got baseball, tomorrow, Right And i'm, like,
DUDE i we had baseball like, today but.

Speaker 3 (01:32:50):
We have to.

Speaker 2 (01:32:50):
Play it's football, season, right so playing. FALLBALL i make him,
go you, know you play whatever season's. In that's your,
primary and you could play the. Secondary that's the WAY
i look at it, Too, yes, yeah, Right and so
my my AND i help coach. Baseball so the baseball
coach good, dude and he's like he knows. It but
we'll have a tournament, today we'll figure out where we,

(01:33:13):
stand and then he'll play. Tomorrow And i'm, like it's
going to BE i know it's going to be during
The Eagles buccaneers, game and that's going to kill.

Speaker 4 (01:33:23):
Me.

Speaker 3 (01:33:25):
Yeah, yeah That's it's part of REASON i don't do
The sunday travel ball stuff is for that, Reason like
we just like we need to just being home On
sundays and relax and be with friends and family and
not it's not time yet for. That there'll be a
time for, that not now school. Too, yeah, yeah you're.
Listen it's good that you know mine's, older so there'll

(01:33:49):
be there'll be a time and point to do. That
but it has to be after He, hids after The
Hebrew school, too so you, know until the. Thirteen so
it's Just sundays are difficult to do anything. ELSE i,
know two years from Bar. Mitsva, man it's crazy for my, sons,
Really god bless. Him, man it's. Crazy they give us
a date three years. Out partially we have. TO i
think it's just our. Plane we're two years out, now

(01:34:10):
two years from less than two Years august twenty. Seven, wow,
yeah it's. Crazy, ah it's. Good first start saving some money, now, Man, yeah, Buddy,
yeah you're gonna go for a little bit. There all,
right back to. It back to. Today So Indiana.

Speaker 2 (01:34:33):
Iowa indiana coming off the monster blowout win Against. Illinois
it's a spot Against iowa If iowa could actually.

Speaker 3 (01:34:42):
Score here's the. QUESTION i Think indiana Routes. IOWA i
don't Think indiana has the personality of a team that
has letdown. SPOTS i just Think sinnety's not gonna let that. Happen.
Now they are they are college, kids and they're emotional
and and, uh there is the possibility that just the

(01:35:08):
emotions of young people right make the game closer. Early but,
DUDE i love What indiana. PLAYS i Love. SIGNETTI i
THINK i told YOU i Had indiana last. WEEK i
think they went sixty three zero to tell you like,
them like. THEM i JUST i don't Think iowa it's
not eight and a half, Now oh, boy she's uh

(01:35:35):
the spot the thing like you know, What it's like
one of those things where you bet On iowa right
plus eight and a, half and When india wins like
thirty five, seventeen you're, like, oh, YEAH i KNEW i
was the wrong, side.

Speaker 4 (01:35:47):
Right you.

Speaker 2 (01:35:48):
Have the problem is you're gonna lay. Out if you're
gonna take points At. Iowa it's a killer because if
you're down, early you know they can't come, back correct
because of their, offense and it's. Frustrating they're a frustrating
team to play on because of that when you're when
you're not offensively.

Speaker 3 (01:36:06):
Challenged.

Speaker 2 (01:36:07):
CORRECT i, Agree all, right let's go to the Night
Alabama georgia and Can simpson have the same success That
agular did Against George so MY i just this number

(01:36:30):
for the, game just gambling, wise, quickly is is so?
Low you're, like what AM i missing?

Speaker 3 (01:36:35):
Here? Right AND i think That alabama Obviously week one
was was a tough. Loss they played really well since.
Then Calen debork and coaches butt Off georgia's, Defense roosevelta
And tennessee. Offensively you, Know stockton is good above avert not,
GREAT i, think, right and maybe band can get him

(01:36:55):
in right, Issues BUT i just go back to the idea,
like IS kirmi smart Gonna georgia is gonna lose this.
GAME i know that they can't Beat. Bama that's been
an issue for them over the years in the regular,
SEASON i should, Say AND i JUST i would rather
Buy georgia than Buy alabama in this. Spot, YEAH i would.

Speaker 2 (01:37:15):
TOO i don't trust, like did that Is alabama back
because they Beat wisconsin last?

Speaker 3 (01:37:22):
Week? No BUT i think you're this is not a
Good wisconsin. TEAM a good buddy of mine says this
all the, time AND i think that's a Worthwhile he, says,
like you're never we should never judge a team at
their worst and at their, best, Right like that was
the Worst bama probably will be this season In week,
one and they've gotten better since. That doesn't mean they're

(01:37:42):
going to be great or that they're gonna be, some
but they're they're pretty much a you, know even money
right now to be a playoff, team and that you
know that would obviously include having to win this. Game,
well you got, listen you've got to win this. Game
you're gonna be a playoff, team you gotta win this. Game,
correct cost Watching castellanos do what he did to, THEM

(01:38:05):
i can't shake. IT i get.

Speaker 2 (01:38:07):
It you, know it's hard to it's hard to. To you,
know week one you Shouldn't week one could be an.
Outliar it's glorified preseason, accounts like we get all, that but,
dude like two. Things, one The Florida state defense that
gave up a busheld points last night In virginia had

(01:38:29):
their way With alabata's.

Speaker 3 (01:38:30):
Offense And costellanos had a lot of. Success, yeah, yeah
that came last. Night god, dude it's got to catch
up all jeez. Man, YEAH i MEAN i could not
have been a better throw about Cast so that fourth
down throw is wild college, football, dude it's so it's

(01:38:51):
just so different than THE Fl it's it's you're just
not going to see very often a. Team, basically you,
know go back where it's the first three down and
they had a, penalty, right it went backwards fourth and
fifteen or fourth and goal from the, fifteen quarterback runs
left and then just find the guy that's open enough to.
Care it's just not gonna happen in THE. Nfl it's

(01:39:12):
a perfect college. Football we saw twice this. Year we saw.
IT a AND m did it To Notre dame right
end of that. Game they went backwards there at the.
End you're, like there's just no. Way guys like wide,
open just like it's just the way wild. Man, yeah
it's just college. Football it's why we love college.

Speaker 2 (01:39:27):
Football, yeah it's it's a it's great all, right coming
up the brain will join us to go through the

(01:42:48):
where are you? Staying?

Speaker 7 (01:42:49):
Interesting it's a tough game for, Me. ANTHONY i know
you're you're a lot more confident in this one THAN i.
Am you, know it's looked to, Me daunte More agan
this is his first real, game, RIGHT i, mean they
Beat Oklahoma, state and the time we thought maybe that
was a semiactive one by seventy to seven or whatever it,
was give me a little bit more credit than maybe they.

(01:43:11):
Deserved now it looks like That Oklahoma state game was
like playing A division four, team forget Even division. Three
so to, me it wasn't quite as the win that
we thought it. WAS i will say this tower rankings, Perspective,
ANTHONY i have definitely Raised oregon for. Sure WHEN i
left the road before the, Year i've raised them about

(01:43:31):
three and a half. Points my ranks, say at least
they have in these games won at a very high.
LEVEL i mean they've killed the teams that they, played
even though they weren't great. Opponents Penn, state they'd beaten
everyone they have to. Beat they paid no. Competition but
it seemed like the games were a little more close
for a while than you would. THINK a tough game for, Me,

(01:43:53):
anthony PERSON i Think Penn state does get it. DONE
i think this line, again has played before the season,
started would have been closer to. Seven now we're getting
it down a three and a. HALF i Think tennessee
does win the white, Out, Anthony But i'm not as
confident as, you BUT i do think they get it.
Done not a Game i'm personally.

Speaker 3 (01:44:09):
Betting, Guys, Well, JEFF i tell and listen to your.

Speaker 2 (01:44:13):
Point jeff made the point all, day and he's right
That Penn stay better win because all the pressure is
On Penn stay absolutely to get that signature victory on Their, Franklin, well.

Speaker 7 (01:44:26):
Look we know, That, Franklin. Anthony it's just until, listen
until it, changes, right and then it's just it's he's
going to get that criticism forever until they. Win but,
look here's the. Thing in, reality if he gets by this,
game then it's just going to switch To, okay well
he's never done it in the, playoffs and so For, franklin,
unfortunately this is part one of what will become part,

(01:44:47):
two and he's going to have to not only win this,
game he's gonna have to you, know actually have success
in the college football playoff and not blow games like
they blew last. Year you, know was it The Notre dame? Game,
yeah they absolutely Like and, look we don't need this
About Penn. State we know what they've, had their lastic
success in some of these big.

Speaker 3 (01:45:07):
Games but no.

Speaker 7 (01:45:08):
Excuses, right they're at. Home you, know top five, team
have the this is a game they got to. WIN
i think they do win, It, antony but again not
as confidence here because to, me Again i'm not going
to bow down To oregon Because oregon is Beaten Podunk
state and you, know look good doing. It so for
me lean Here Penn. State BUT.

Speaker 3 (01:45:32):
I JUST i.

Speaker 7 (01:45:32):
CAN'T i can't actually get to the.

Speaker 3 (01:45:34):
Window And, BETTY i was.

Speaker 7 (01:45:35):
Tempted when it was, three but three and a, half
it's not even. Them i'm not Even i'm not going
to do.

Speaker 3 (01:45:40):
It an interesting big ten, game just from a sort
of a gambling, perspective Is Ohio state And. Washington this
number open to or got slammed down to almost. Eight
there were some seven and a. Half yesterday someone blasted
it back to nine and a. Half it's back to
eight and a half. TODAY i Lean Ohio. State i'm

(01:46:01):
actually hoping to get them live at some point about
a touchdown. HERE i understand that so far right teams
on the road this, week oh in. Too Florida state,
lost you. Lost it's a tough spot For Ohio state.
OFFENSIVELY i just don't Think washington is as good as
the final scores have. Been do you have any action
on this, game BECAUSE i think it's fascinating how you
know different groups have sort of taken, ten hit eight

(01:46:24):
and a half and just sort of where this is
at right?

Speaker 7 (01:46:27):
Now, Yeah, jeff great. Question not on the side the
side to, ME i thought this line should have come
in right where the line. Is BUT i, Actually, JEFF
i actually like the. OVER i actually think This washington
team will be able to score some On Ohio. State,
okay and it look they're getting a lot of respect

(01:46:47):
because this totals in the low, fifties BUT i think
that they will be able to score SOME i really.
Do now DO i trust That washington's defense to slow
Down Ohio? State, NO i really. Don't BUT i think
this game will go over the. Total that's HOW i
looked at this. GAME i thought this sort has been,
closer like more in the mid, fifties maybe like fifty
six area and it's about four points lower than. That

(01:47:10):
and that's HOW i looked at this.

Speaker 3 (01:47:12):
Game.

Speaker 7 (01:47:12):
Sidewise, AGAIN i thought it should have been. COME i
thought the line should have been right in this eight
and a half area IS i think it was a fair.
Number BUT i think, AGAIN i think This washington offense
actually like, it AND i don't Again Ohio states, DEFENSIVELY
i look That texas game again kind of like it
doesn't seem like kind of like in a way different.

(01:47:32):
Level when they shut Out texas or shut them, down
that looked like the greatest performance. Ever And i'm not
thinking there wasn't a really good. Performance it certainly, was
But texas, offensively it looks like we potentially overrated what they.
Were so to, me you, know you can get this
fifty two and a. HALF i, THINK i think both
these teams will be able to. Score AND i like the.

Speaker 2 (01:47:53):
OVER i Brain, Alabama. GEORGIA i can't Shake Alabama Florida.
State and then you, Know i'm Watching Florida state last
night and you called over in that game And virginia
had its.

Speaker 7 (01:48:11):
Way a lot more than this than the than The Ohio.
State that ONE i actually really. LIKED i actually thought.
BOTH i thought that was gonna be exactly the kind
of ant. Was BUT i know what you're saying about
about That alabama game against Against Florida, state like The Florida.
State now you see like they're not any great shakes.
Here but Again georgia has Been. Anthony as we, Know
georgia has not look that good, either really. Haven't Uh

(01:48:34):
so it's, me it's funny AND I. ANTHONY i gotta
ask you And jeff your guys opinion just on a
on a. TANGENT i feel Like i'm saying this the
last couple of years and it's just been more, pronounced
maybe since the whole nil era and. Whatnot and this
is in telling that you guys agreed the LEAST i,
MEAN i, mean by, far like the least dominant situation

(01:48:54):
of any. Team there's no team, like oh my, god
this is.

Speaker 3 (01:48:57):
A really good.

Speaker 7 (01:48:57):
Team it's like some of these teams that they, played
one of These Nick saban teams would be ten point, underdogs,
right some of the Good Nick Saban alabama teams or
The Joe BURROW lsu. TEAM i don't think there's any
team you're, like Oh, wow this team's really really. GOOD
i feel like the twenty eight team to beat the
first team easily and again a given. WEEK i just
feel like there's there's more parody than there's ever been

(01:49:18):
in college. Football i'm not sure if you guys agree
with that or.

Speaker 3 (01:49:21):
Not, yeah, totally. TOTALLY i think with portal we've had
a lot of movement and it's allowed different roster. Makeups it's. Interesting,
YES i think you're right on.

Speaker 7 (01:49:32):
That, Yeah but this The Alabama georgia. Game that being,
SAID i do Think georgia gets it. DONE i do,
AGAIN i can't That alabama game against the PARTISAN i
just can't erase it from my, memory so to. Speak
And georgia's obviously had horrible success Versus bama that one

(01:49:52):
to nine in the last TEN i mean horrible. Success
but you, know Look. Georgia, listen say what you want to.
Say they did you, know they did Be, tennessee which
was a quality. Win i'm gonna lean, Here. GEORGIA i
Think georgia gets it.

Speaker 3 (01:50:05):
Done the New kakoff game On fox, Today ILLINOIS. Usc,
YEAH i Took illinois first half plus three and a. Half, Jeff,
oh there we. GO i THINK usc actually covers the full.
Game if you want to do a fun, parlay you
can maybe put those. Together but, SO i guess we're

(01:50:26):
on the same page. HERE i early start FOR Usc illinois,
pride BUT i think the secondary injuries For illinois just
too much overcome for sixty. Minutes, Oh i'm.

Speaker 7 (01:50:35):
Start, Well, NO I i misspoke Of i'm. Sorry we do.
AGREE i BET illinoi in the first. TIME i did not.
Bet i'm SORRY i did not BET usc in the. Game,
LOOK i see what you're. Saying Look, Illinois, jeff we
talked last week that game they had Against. INDIANA i
really wanted to Bet indiana, there AND i was, like Oh,
god this line just came in higher THAN i wanted

(01:50:56):
BECAUSE i really thought that the two teams were in different.
Classes but here's the. Thing, NOW i think it's a
little bit of an. OVERREACTION. USC i gotta be, honest
us see. Defensively oh, MAN I i don't like them at.
ALL i really. Don't i've watched a few of their,
games AND i feel like they're very get gett a

(01:51:16):
ball on the defensive side of the, ball And illinois
at home again they. Listen you know that's SAYING i
was badger last game and not as good you last.
Game we know. THAT i think they. CAN i think
they're live. HERE i think they will.

Speaker 3 (01:51:28):
See this game.

Speaker 7 (01:51:28):
Competitive i'm not as quite as high AS usc is
maybe the. MARKET i actually Like illinois to cover this.
Game you can still get. Seven i'm on the on my.

Speaker 3 (01:51:35):
Side I'LL i go onlier this game. Too uh old
miss l S. U where you, live that's a great
football game Where.

Speaker 7 (01:51:46):
Yeah you know it's. Funny IF i just keeps creeping, up,
guys it's up to two and a, Half i'm gonna
TAKE l S. U i you, know it's. Funny LIKE
i think Coach, KELLY i just have a feeling with
him this year that he actually it's a very talented.

Speaker 3 (01:52:02):
Roster.

Speaker 7 (01:52:02):
Jeff i'm not sure if you how high you Have
lashue ranking your power. RANKINGS i THINK lsu has the
horses this year to actually keep.

Speaker 3 (01:52:10):
Doing it and Doing, SORRY i Told jet the same.
THING i Like dlishu.

Speaker 7 (01:52:13):
Today, YEAH i THINK i was LIKE i was do
with the money money probably like at the our twenty
twenty five AND I i THINK i who finds a
way to win a close? GAME i just think you're
just a more talented. Team So i'll take the more
talented team getting.

Speaker 3 (01:52:26):
ODDS i appreciate you thinking THAT i have my own power.
Rankings that's a very big. PLUS i very. MUCH i
appreciate that the power rankings are in my head and
on the, film AND i appreciate you thinking THAT i Have,
Look i've my. Content you know. What so did you
play the college contest this? Year the ONE i offered
with The. Westgate? YEAH i did. Not, okay SO i played.

Speaker 7 (01:52:51):
It are aware of.

Speaker 3 (01:52:51):
IT i played, it And i'm doing. Fine i'm like
fifty eight, percent but like through five weeks the guy
leading is like it's seventy five. Percent it's just, like it's,
crazy how.

Speaker 7 (01:53:05):
You have no.

Speaker 3 (01:53:05):
CHANCE i got knew entering IF I i had no
chance to, Win, LIKE i just zero. CHANCE i want
to do it, anyways five hundred, dollars MAYBE i get.
LUCKY i have an incredible year THAT i you, know
but it's crazy these, contests, man even even super, contents
like the winners are like seventy. Percent how is that?

Speaker 7 (01:53:20):
Possible, well because if you have to just think about like,
This i'll tell you exactly it's. Possible just when there's
a certain amount of. People it's like IF i were
to tell you you go to a rolette table and
how many times it comes up black and like thirty
spins versus, red And i'm giving you a thousand roulette,
tables there's gonna be a few of those rolette tables
where it comes up like twenty four out of thirty

(01:53:40):
black or, red just a few out of a, thout.
Right but it's it's just that's just what happens when
there's uncertain amount quantity in. Something someone's going to get
lucky because the person who wins. That i'm not saying
that not any caapp in the games, will but they're
obviously they're just getting during the right side of. Transs
just come out of.

Speaker 2 (01:53:56):
That all, right let's do, This let's take a, break
and then we're going to come, back AND i want
to go head to head like we do every week
where we pick EVERY nfl game either you like it
OR i, mean you, know and you can have your,
past but pick. Aside just way you, go you go
up against each. Other anything else in college before we

(01:54:20):
turned over to THE nfl.

Speaker 3 (01:54:21):
That you, like.

Speaker 5 (01:54:23):
You know?

Speaker 7 (01:54:24):
Anything this? Was this was. AGAIN i didn't have a
ton of the actual ton of debts this. WEEK i really,
THINK i MEAN i did most of the ones THAT
i believe that we we.

Speaker 3 (01:54:34):
Did we touched on and, OKAY i you know that's.

Speaker 7 (01:54:38):
GOOD i think we're.

Speaker 3 (01:54:38):
Good QUICKLY i TOOK U. C L a And stanford

it's the number's, gone so hi though you can't take
BY u now though it's like, seven it was like
three and a, half.

Now it's Bre rain a day. Today brady actually sent
us a. Story today's a five year. ANNIVERSARY i know
there's been a lot of fake it till you make
it's going on Like Rey gun in The. Olympics well
do you remember when THAT asl translator was live on
television translating a man getting like his final. Charges turns

(01:56:58):
out she was actually sign languaging jingle bells up there
on the.

Speaker 3 (01:57:02):
Stage oh, wow WHAT i?

Speaker 1 (01:57:04):
Mean?

Speaker 3 (01:57:04):
Look, yeah.

Speaker 8 (01:57:08):
Hey it looked.

Speaker 3 (01:57:10):
GOOD i wouldn't. KNOW i wouldn't know one way or the. Other.

Speaker 10 (01:57:15):
Yeah so the only way that it was found out
was because an ACTUAL asl interpreter was watching and they,
called how.

Speaker 11 (01:57:20):
Do we know if she's telling the?

Speaker 3 (01:57:22):
Truth how? Good how do we?

Speaker 11 (01:57:23):
Not how do we not figure? Out later that she
was sitting there making the joke of people like.

Speaker 6 (01:57:31):
The story with you is the gentleman who's supposed to
like bring these sorts of people, to you, know for
for these sorts of, events to have someone to be
a translator. Interpreter the woman walked up to, Him it's, like,
hey do you need, someone and he was, like, oh, yeah,
sure and so he never really went through the full

(01:57:53):
background check of whether or not she could or.

Speaker 3 (01:57:55):
Couldn't he just brought her right in and she started,
saying but here's.

Speaker 11 (01:58:00):
My, thing here's my. Thing how you going to sign?
Language jingle? Bells you must know how to sign languge were.

Speaker 10 (01:58:09):
Shaking your wrists jingle, bells jingle.

Speaker 3 (01:58:11):
Bells it wasn't actually jingle. Bells that was just what they.
Said it looked, like, yeah, right.

Speaker 10 (01:58:19):
We're just shaking her hands in.

Speaker 8 (01:58:20):
There there's been issues where they've had a they've had
an there's there's been stuff where they've had an interpreter
in a ring after a fight try and interpret, something
and people after the fact have, said that's not what
the guys what he, said like like interpreters have just
either made stuff up or just kind of put their own.

Speaker 3 (01:58:39):
Spin they have to add live it because they'd be
talking so.

Speaker 10 (01:58:42):
Fast my favorite interpreters are the ones at, concerts the
ones who do it to like.

Speaker 3 (01:58:47):
Music we do.

Speaker 8 (01:58:49):
Fun we can address What lebar just.

Speaker 3 (01:58:51):
Said IF i said That.

Speaker 8 (01:58:55):
I'd be escorted out here in, handcuffs why because the
in laws would have me.

Speaker 3 (01:59:00):
Arrested we'll hold on.

Speaker 11 (01:59:02):
Now oh, Wow see this is where you go. Wrong
SEE i was thinking about An african fighter at one
point in, time and you want to make it about
A mexican. Fighter see where you went? Wrong you went
Wrong jonas me MY i would be, arrested, like get
out of. Here The mexicans do be talking?

Speaker 3 (01:59:23):
QUICK us is going? There what? Here? Boys all?

Speaker 6 (01:59:27):
Right three of the matches were. Down doesn't look like
we're coming back in two of, them and we're tired
and we're actually up in.

Speaker 3 (01:59:32):
Another but it's not looking good for THE us here
you bet On. Europe, Huh, well that's looking like it
been smart so. Far what else we got?

Speaker 5 (01:59:42):
Right you?

Speaker 10 (01:59:43):
Know i'm From oregon and this game this weekend is
kind of. EXCITING i don't know if you, saw but
The ducks are premiering a new uniform and they're going
to be like mummies and it blows in the.

Speaker 1 (01:59:53):

Speaker 11 (01:59:55):
That, yes, yeah you KNOW i Love Penn state because
we don't need. Gimmicks we just go play.
