Welcome to the biggest tailgate party in the Nation's Fox
Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff presented by betg App. Make
it legendary. We're setting you up with the information you
need to watch your team win.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Let's go.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
We're here to break it all down.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Yeah. God, this is Fox.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff, presented by matt emg App. No,
we're live from your tailgame. Here's Brian Nook, former Penn
State All American, Rich Hornberger, and FSR betting analyst Jared Smith.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
Oh, good morning, Good Saturday morning.

Speaker 4 (00:45):
My goodness. Do we have some stuff to get into today. Huh.
We've got some Big Toe previews and reviews right around
the corner. But let's talk about this first. This isn't
just a game.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
It's a once in a generation event, the Harlem Globe
Trotter one hundred Year Tour. Come be a part of
a legacy that never stops. Feed there when history is made,
the Harlem Globe Trotters one hundred Year Tour. Get your
tickets today at Harlem Globetrotters dot Com. All right, we're
gonna go Big Toe previews and reviews. Okay, we're just

(01:17):
taking our big toe in the water here.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
We have a million things to talk about real fast.
From last night. We had a couple of really good games.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
Yeah, three games last night, two of them were overtime games.
Number eight, Florida State goes down against Virginia. I'm sure
Seamus McGee is gonna be gindy today. We talk to
him next hour, big Virginia guy. But a great game
last night, double ot and Virginia outlasts Florida State. I
felt bad for the Florida State wide receiver who didn't

(01:47):
catch the final touchdown. What would have been a touchdown
was picked off, and there's just a tidal wave of
Virginia fans that has ran onto the field.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
Man like.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
There had to be a few bruises, a few contusions there,
you know, not getting that catch at the very end.
But great win for Virginia, tough loss for Florida State.
I will say this, I want to sing the praises
of the acc When you get a peek behind the
curtain with those reviews, right, they go to the monitor
and you get all those let's check camera sixth, camera six.

Speaker 5 (02:19):
It was awesome.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
It's so good for them to talk it through and
Is this a catch? Is it out of bounds? They
did that every time they went to review. It's so
much better when you hear the actual conversations.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
I agree.

Speaker 6 (02:32):
I think that anytime there is something that is a
point of contention, I think the more information we have,
the better off you are. The less information, that's when
conspiracy swirls. That's when people feel like something is being
hidden from them, like there is.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
A greater mission or you know, I don't.

Speaker 6 (02:57):
Know modus operandum behind what's happened. You know, But when
you pull the curtain and you say, hey, look, Oz,
isn't this giant voice booming from you know, the distance,
It's just this little guy wearing a weird green suit
and he's pulling some levers behind the curtain.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
You're like, okay, nothing to fear here.

Speaker 6 (03:17):
Well that's what we got a little bit of a
look at there with the review team, And like you, Brian,
I really did appreciate I thought it was. I think
it's a nice touch to the broadcast. And I think
in a time and an age where there's a lot
of people wagering on games now, the more information you
can provide for people, because there's a lot more invested

(03:39):
in these games than ever before. The better off, everybody's
going to be for it.

Speaker 5 (03:44):
The word you're looking for is transparency. We use this
in the gambling space all the time when people out
their records and yeah, they've gone six and oh in
their last six picks, but they failed to mention that
they lost their prior ten before that. You know, it's
just that opening up of the of the curtain and

(04:04):
to see what's going on behind the scenes. I have
a I'm feeling cantankerous this morning. Can we stop with
the field stormings before the losing team leaves the field?

Speaker 7 (04:15):
Please?

Speaker 5 (04:16):
Someone honestly could have died yesterday. It was a stampede.
It reminded me of the scene in The Lion King.
There's a stampede and the Gorge simbers down there like
the poor Florida State players, and then you've got people
on the field, drunk college kids. And then I saw
this one guy go viral like an adult flipping off

(04:37):
castianos and then recording himself flipping off a college student.
And he's gonna tell that story like he's a legend,
but in reality, he's just an idiot that's recording himself
flipping off a college student for internet cloud, Like, it's
just so weird where we are as a society, first
of all, but second of all, like that was dangerous.
How quickly they stampeded that field last night. So awesome

(04:58):
win for Virginia. Yeah, shame Is was on the field.
He was one of the field stormers last night. He
sent me a selfie of him on the field. I
just thought that was I thought that was like aggressive
for a field storm like that was. The game wasn't
even technically over yet and those kids were on the field.

(05:18):
But it was a very nice win for Virginia. I
think Florida State, we'll see if they can maintain what
they showed in that early game against Bama and then
the other one last night. I thought the Arizona State
game was very impactful for the Big twelve standings. Good
luck trying to predict the Big Twelve this year. I
have no idea. Honestly, I think there's probably five or

(05:38):
six teams that can probably win that conference. In TCU battle,
they just couldn't get a late touchdown. They had plenty
of goal line chances, so really really fun and in
Houston coming back and beating Oregon State, Like the Big
twelve is freaking wild man.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
Yeah, it was a wild night.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
Those are three really good games, Like, you know, two
of them decided by a field goal.

Speaker 4 (05:58):
The freaking beafs, Like, have they heard of what blocking
is on a field goal? There were three dudes who
got right through there. I'm like, what are they? What
are they doing?

Speaker 3 (06:12):
How do you let that many people get through on
what would have been a game winning field goal? That's
just insanity right there? Rich what you had to be
on the field goal unit before, right, Like, yep, yep.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
That's an embarrassment. Is it not that many people got
through to block a kick like that?

Speaker 2 (06:27):
Come on? Yeah? You got to look.

Speaker 6 (06:31):
I mean, the two things they teach you on field
goal protection and one of them was violated there is
you've got a hunker down for two hard seconds and
you've got to brace for impact.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
I like, there, look, it's I get it.

Speaker 6 (06:50):
It's tough, there's a tidal wave of bodies coming at you,
but it's two seconds. You've got to find a way.
I remember there was a coach.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Which team was it?

Speaker 6 (07:02):
It was either No, it was in it was in Arizona.
It was when I was at the Cardinals. It was
Russ Grimm and I remember we were doing some field
goal we were doing some field goal block extra point
block drills and he goes listen. He's like, I don't
care which of you it is. He's like, it's just
gonna be the toughest. He was like, and you know,

(07:24):
be prideful about it, and this will be your job
for the rest of the season. And so, you know,
they were like backup offensive linemen who cared who wanted
to be on the field goal block unit. Now obviously
starting offensive lineman, they're prideful too. The majority of the
field goal block extra point unit were starting offensive lineman,
but there were a couple of guys who would come

(07:44):
onto the field and replace tight ends and would be
part of that unit, you know, who were the additional
offensive lineman checking in telling the refs, hey, I'm an
eligible receiver even though I'm wearing number sixty four or
you know, seventy eight, because you need the baddest dudes
you possibly can have on the field. You can't get
pushed back like that, you can't get thrown around like that.

(08:05):
That is the most important moment of that game. And
if all Elevin do their job. You win it, and
if you don't, well you're literally, quite literally taking points
off the board.

Speaker 5 (08:17):
Russ Grimm, he's part of that. That name has so yeah,
it's a whole lot. I don't even know if I'm
allowed to say the team name anymore, but I'll just
say very a very decorated offensive lineman down there in
the DC area during the height of his career. That's
a great name drop there. And yeah, Richer, how's the
lodgings in De Kyle, Illinois treating you? You're yeah, yeah,

(08:40):
you see, we got him on the zoom. He's in
the random hotel. Where is rich today?

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Yeah, yeah, you got it right though.

Speaker 6 (08:47):
I'm hours away from kickoff a two thirty Central time
kickoff between the San Diego State Aztecs taking on the
Northern Illinois Huskies today. So you're college Football American the
Mid American Conference, the final year for n i U
and the Mid American before they make the switch to
the Mountain West.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
Are they a part of the Mountain or the West?

Speaker 6 (09:10):
I don't know. They're in the Midwest. There really aren't
any mountains in Illinois. I don't know what to tell you,
but either way, college football landscape is a shifting and
uh and and we're in the thick of it.

Speaker 4 (09:22):
I'll tell you what.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
As far as the Big Toe previews go, there's a
little game involving your alma mater over here. Rich you two, Jared,
you Penn State honks you big game hosting Oregon game
favored has a big sticking point.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
For you, Jared.

Speaker 3 (09:39):
You know they're normally the team with lesser tell you
can't say that this year.

Speaker 4 (09:43):
You know you can't say it this year.

Speaker 5 (09:44):
Well, this is the first time that James Franklin's ever
been favored against a top ten team. Ever, It's never
happened before until.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
Wow, I actually didn't know that.

Speaker 6 (09:52):
That's uh that is that is an interesting stat heading
into this one, Buddy, Yeah, and uh man.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
The QB Matt, huh we got Drew Aller. It is
go time, Drew Aller, It is freaking go time, man,
Come on right. And then Dante Moore, who's been fantastic
for Oregon. This is his biggest game. He's against a
really tough defense, one of the best in the country
in Penn State. It's gonna be a crazy atmosphere on
the road. So how does Dante Moore in particular handle it?

(10:20):
So the QB matchup is fascinating to me. I can't
wait for Oregon Penn State.

Speaker 6 (10:24):
Yeah yeah, people can shrink under the hot, bright white
lights of a Penn State white out. I was there
when this tradition got started at Penn State. My time
at Penn State was two thousand and four through the
two thousand and eight season. I played five seasons at
Penn State, a red shirt and then four additional and

(10:45):
it was like nothing I've ever been a part of
and have never been a part of anything like it.
Since I had my first fall football game, I had
been to a spring game or two since I left campus,
but my first ever fall football game back at Beaver
Stadium this season, I was on the field with the

(11:06):
two thousand and five Big Ten championship team. We were getting,
you know, honored, and it was a lot of fun.
That was ahead of the or during the Villanova game.
And there were one hundred and nine thousand people in
that stadium for a nooner, you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
This was a whatever.

Speaker 6 (11:21):
It was a three o'clock three thirty kickoff, and the
crowd was roaring and the ground was rumbling, and there
was seismic activity against Villanova. Just imagine how much more
intense that environment gets when you're an opposing offense on
the field, going into.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
A white wall of noise as you're trying to coordinate
your offense.

Speaker 6 (11:47):
It's intimidating, it's distracting, to say the very least. And
when you're young, your eyes widen. And what I mean
is you're taking in the whole display as as opposed
to being super focused, hyper focused on the task at hand. So,
I mean Penn State for many different reasons they're favored,
but home field advantage comes into this one in a

(12:10):
big way.

Speaker 5 (12:11):
Yeah, not to make us feel old rich by the
way I was at this, I was at Penn State.
For those listening, I mean rich and I know this,
but maybe for the listeners that haven't been with us
for the last three plus years. Rich and I attended
Penn State the same years we were obviously had very
two different experiences, but we were at that state during
that same exact two thousand and four. I'm the class

(12:32):
of eight, broadcast journalism major. One of my first games.
And not to make us feel really old rich, but
Drew Aller was six months old. That first white out in.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
Two thousand, oh my gosh, born in March of.

Speaker 5 (12:45):
Two thousand and four. That was a afternoon game against Purdue,
and Kyle Orton lit us up that day and it
was a white out student section only, and it was
kind of timid. It was kind of lame, frankly, and
they decided to up the annie the following year, and
that was when Michael Robinson took over his quarterback and

(13:05):
they got Derek Williams, you know, one of the top
recruits in the country, and all of a sudden there
was some buzz around the program again started off a
little bit shaky. The game against Northwestern. I remember we
needed a late comeback to get across the finish line,
but all of a sudden, they're five and oh Ohio
State's coming to town. And then they really the game
that kind of vaulted them into status that year was

(13:27):
when they shut down Maroney and Barbara on Minnesota because
Lusbie had a crazy tackle at the goal line. They
blasted Minnesota in that game, and then they had Ohio
State coming into town with Troy Smith, a really good
Ohio State team. Penn State was undefeated. Game day came
it was a night game, and then they said, hey,
let's up theanny with this whiteout thing. So two thousand
and five, in my opinion, is the first real legit

(13:47):
Penn State whiteout. So it has been twenty years since
that Ohio State win. Tomahali sack Troy Smith on the
last play. Penn State won seventeen to ten. I still
have the ticket hanging up on my mantle here. It
really is a I can't explain it. I know, it's like, oh,
they're just wearing white shirts. Who cares like? It's an energy,
it's a vibe. It's not what they're wearing, it's the

(14:10):
energy in the stadium. And now with Penn State again
being a favorite for the first time in this scenario,
they have always been the plucky underdog against the top teams.
We'll see how Drew Aller handles that. We'll see how
James Franklin handles that. Dante Moore, I don't really know
what to expect. Again, he played at Utah, he played

(14:30):
at Yeah, at Oregon State his freshman year UCLA, the
very different environments. So we'll see if the bright eyes,
you know, can handle this. And Drew Aller hasn't been
great in these spots. So I think both quarterbacks Brian
have big question marks.

Speaker 3 (14:43):
Man, I just had the sheiks for a second. I
hosted a show in Albany, New York years ago, shout
out to the five one eight, and there's this freaking
guy who always pranked the show and worked in, Lawrence Morony.

Speaker 4 (15:00):
Former Minnesota running back.

Speaker 2 (15:02):
Right.

Speaker 4 (15:03):
He just disguise his voice.

Speaker 3 (15:05):
He'd be like, Hey, hey, this is John just want
to talk about the Yankees or whatever. And he'd be
all right, we'll get you through. And then I'd be like,
all let's go on to whatever his name was. He'd
be like, yeah, you know I was. I was at
the Yankee game. You know I was next to Lawrence Maroney.

Speaker 4 (15:19):
I'm like he got us again.

Speaker 3 (15:20):
Like anyway, but man, some great games today, lsu ole
Miss Bama Georgia. How about Bama Georgia on at the
same time as Oregon, Penn State. Higher up the tablet,
the TV, you get the multi screen going. You got
to have everything here. But we'll preview all of the
big games here today. Very excited about that. We've got

got USC going on the road to face Illinois.

Speaker 2 (18:15):
Illinois.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
Last week, man, that's about as bad as it can get.
They got absolutely punked by Indiana.

Speaker 4 (18:21):
Sixty three to ten, sixty three to ten, my lord.
But they're at home today.

Speaker 3 (18:27):
They're taking on USC weird body clock spot, you know,
early kickoff time for a West Coast team, and the
Trojans here and it's ticked up. Illinois is now a
seven point home underdog.

Speaker 4 (18:41):
As listen.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
I hate to say this as a Notre Dame honk,
but USC has the best music in college football.

Speaker 2 (18:47):
It is good.

Speaker 5 (18:48):
It's the best, really good.

Speaker 6 (18:50):
Yeah, especially since your your Notre Dame fighting Irish and
USC have one of the best and biggest rivalries going
back forever. Now it is it is good of you
to be able to at least give them credit there,
you know, ahead of the breakdown of this game, I
kind of want to get your guys take on Lincoln Riley,

(19:12):
who is not pleased with the conference officials for how
they went about scheduling this one, citing the fact that
USC had the latest possible kickoff time last week, now
has to go on the road in the Big Ten
and have the earliest possible kickoff time. Well, ready or not,
here comes a coach. It's what it is. You know,

(19:35):
the weather is going to be what it is, the
kickoff time is what it is. Football is going to
be played. But do you think he has a fair gripe?

Speaker 5 (19:43):
Sure? I think the kickoff times in general it's absurd
how they move them up and down constantly. Now Fox
is the culprit this week because of the big noons stuff,
and you could make the case whether that's good or
bad for college football to have that, you know, national
window usually the noon games, and maybe I'm just you know,

(20:04):
I don't remember, because it's We've had a lot of
college football games over the years. But I don't recall
there ever being until Fox did the big noon stuff.
They're being like this big noon game. It was always
the later afternoon games.

Speaker 2 (20:17):
That's right.

Speaker 5 (20:17):
The three thirty Eastern SEC game was always the big
one and then they'd have the night games. But they
wanted to get that you know, big matchup in the
noon window. And it's kind of you know, moved around
some of the times. I think USC and I think
it was one of the futures bets we gave out
in August over seven and a half wins. I mean,
they they're a legit team, guys, and we'll see if

(20:40):
the travel impacts them. Right, they play at Illinois this week,
then they go home for a bye, then they play
Michigan at home, then they're at Notre Dame, then another
by then they're at Nebraska. So this late October early
November window for them is gonna involve a lot of travel.
And this is where the West Coast Big ten stuff
can get a little bit funky. But Jead the original point, Rich.

(21:01):
I think it's strange that they keep moving these games around,
but that's just kind of the TV windows that were
kind of dealt.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
Yeah, listen, he's certainly got a point, Lincoln Riley, But
it's hard to sound cool.

Speaker 4 (21:10):
And tough while whining about that, you know what I mean?

Speaker 3 (21:13):
Like agreed, Dan Campbell would have a hard time sounding cool,
you know, like we wouldn't you mention it? He wouldn't, right,
Dan Campbell would be like, we'll bite your kneecaps and
whatever window you put us in here.

Speaker 4 (21:25):
But Lincoln Riley's gonna be like, like, you know, we
had the latest kick and now we got the earliest case.

Speaker 3 (21:31):
He's just gonna sound whiny, and you know it's not
gonna sound like impression. I love that, but hey man,
the body clock thing is real, you know, to get
up for a nine a m. Kicktime that that's what
it is, Pacific time. That's a tough deal man. So,
and they play very well against Purdue when they traveled

(21:51):
to the Midwest earlier this year. They've been a fish
out of freaking water as a favorite outside of California.
So they got a couple of demons to shake over here,
these Trojans. But man, Illinois, it starts up front. Rich,
a former offensive lineman. Their offensive line play was beyond
atrocious against I you last week, so can't be worse.

(22:14):
Got to be a whole lot better against USC because
USC is going to score them some points here.

Speaker 6 (22:18):
Yeah, they caught a real thrashing against Indiana. Who look,
you know, you give credit where credits due that head
coach Signetti. He's man, he's he's a smart guy running
a really really good system because he constantly puts opponents
in places where they can't be He's attacking the weakest

(22:40):
link on the field at all times, and he's putting
you in binds offensively or I should say defensively from
his offensive perspective. Through that system that forces you to
make a choice on every single play, and both of
the choices you have are bad choices for you, So
credit to them. But yeah, getting to Illinois.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
Pass protection huge issue last week.

Speaker 6 (23:03):
Trojans need to wake up and get off the bus
and play some football. They need a fast start. Road games,
travel games were big problem for the Trojans last year,
so they need to improve there. Not only do I
think Lincoln Riley was sounding the alarm to the conference
saying like, hey, you need to look at this last year,
and he's using a bully pulpit to get the attention

(23:25):
of the conference officials.

Speaker 2 (23:26):
Will it work? Will it not? I don't know.

Speaker 6 (23:28):
But he's also getting the message across to his team like, hey,
you guys need to understand, I'm aware of how this
looks for us. I'm aware that it's an early body
clock for us, and that sucks.

Speaker 2 (23:41):
You better wake up and play football.

Speaker 6 (23:44):
So from the standpoint of how they win, speaking from
the USC side of the coin, they got to dial
up some pressure. Danton Lynn defensive coordinator, I think, really
talented guy. He runs a pretty complex scheme. He's gotta
get into the quarterback's kitchen early in this game, an

(24:05):
attack where Illinois is weak, which is up front on
the offensive line protecting their QB.

Speaker 5 (24:11):
Yeah, I think Illinois and we were talking about this.
This was another one. Like I think coming into the year,
I had two pretty strong takes about the Big Ten.
One was that some of these West Coast teams are undervalue,
Washington being one, We'll get to them a little later
and USC being the other. I bet both of them
to the over. And then the other take was I
don't trust Illinois. I just I don't buy that they're

(24:33):
just gonna cake walk and they're this other like there
this year everyone's something there this year's Indiana, and I'm like,
I don't know, but there is an advantage. I do
think USC has struggled at times to stop the run.
That's what the numbers tell me, and that's what Illinois
likes to do. Like right now, USC's defense outside the

(24:54):
top one hundred and rushing efficiency. So if you want
to a some kind of stratug a script for then
I to get back on track today, run the ball,
keep it away from USC, who's, by the way, got
like a top ten offense. My Alba looks fantastic. I mean,
he looks like a fricking player, man. And you just
try to control the trenches like you just play bullyball.

(25:16):
This is a classic Brett Beilam a bullyball game where
last week it just snowballed so quickly against Indiana you
had no chance to play your style against them. You
gotta figure out a way to slow this game down.
Maybe it's the body clock, maybe it's the fact that
USC struggles against the run, but that really is the
only hope for the ALIGNI I think in this game, all.

Speaker 3 (25:38):
Right, we're gonna get to one guy is out for
a month while another guy is out forever. That's around
the corner here on Fox Sports Radios. Countdown to Kickoff,
presented by BETTMGM. This isn't just a game, It's a
once in a generation event, the Harlem Globe Trotters one
hundred Year Tour. Come be a part of a legacy
that never stops. Be there when history is made. The
Harlem Globe Trotters one hundred Year Tour. Get your gets

(26:00):
today at Harlem Globetrotters dot com. All right, so we
got Oklahoma quarterback John Mattier. He's out for probably about
a month. Broke a bone in his throwing hand last
week against Auburn. That happened in the first quarter. He
underwent surgery this week, and make sure you're sitting down
for this. It was successful. I know it never happens.

(26:24):
When's the last time there was a sports surgery? And
the surgeon was just like, I don't know what the
hell happened. I operated on the wrong thumb, was something
just like I thought it would go a little smoother.

Speaker 4 (26:36):
Everything, Oh, tremendous. Couldn't have gone better.

Speaker 3 (26:39):
But he's gonna be My tear's gonna be out for
roughly a month. They're off this week Oklahoma is then
they get Kent State, Texas and at South Carolina. Even
if it's just those three games, that's not awesome for Oklahoma.
You think back to last year their offense, total offense.
They ranked one one hundred and thirteenth in total offense

(27:02):
last year. John Mattier has been really really good. Look
at his numbers so far this year. He's now sixth
nationally in passing yards and he's ranked second among Power
four quarterbacks with five rushing touchdowns.

Speaker 4 (27:15):
He's been really good.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
Yeah, he turned the ball over here and there, that's
not ideal, but overall he's been really really good for Oklahoma.
Legitimate Heisman candidate and he's on the shelf for the
next month or so.

Speaker 6 (27:26):
Yeah, And Michael Hawkins Junior looks like the next man
up at the quarterback position. He'll be getting the start,
most likely against Kent State unless something major changes over
the bye week ahead of that game. And you know,
coach Venables he said something also quite predictable to the
media about his backup quarterback. They've got all the confidence

(27:49):
in the world that he can handle the situation. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
an another canned answer, because much like the successful surgery.
When's the last time you heard to coach go Yeah,
I mean pretty much, that's our season. You can flush
this one scro Yeah. Yeah, the guy who we just
lost with the hand. Yeah, we're gonna need that hand,

(28:09):
as it turns out, because the backup can't play.

Speaker 2 (28:12):
Worth a squad.

Speaker 6 (28:13):
You know that ain't happening. So we'll see, you know,
I mean, we'll see. They're college football, like we were
just talking about. When you're young, you're inexperienced, you're thrown
into a big spot. Sometimes you can play with house money.
And I know one of us on this show.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
Hates that expression, but my god.

Speaker 6 (28:33):
But be no bear with me here. When you when
you are up at a casino, you get a little
looser with the chips. You can have that feeling of
freedom and a little, maybe false sense of confidence. When
when you have a little extra dough in your pocket
that you didn't bring with you, that all of a
sudden you've been awarded for whatever reason, the gambling god

(28:56):
said yes to you that day at the rule at
table or at the craps table, and all.

Speaker 2 (29:00):
Of a sudden you got you got a stack.

Speaker 6 (29:02):
You know, you get a little looser, you you play
with a little bit more zeal and, zest and fun,
and you could see that happening with a backup quarterback
getting sort of the keys to the candy store for
the first time. Uh, you know, speaking uh speaking of
course metaphorically. When it is your job, though, there are

(29:23):
times where guys they feel the weight and the pressure
and it's and it's crushing and they're not ready for it.
And so I'm very curious what we see out of
Oklahoma moving forward. I'm also very curious how much of
the playbook is still in there. That's going to be
a big a measuring stick to how well they've prepared
their backup throughout the season and the preseason.

Speaker 5 (29:45):
Frankly, I wish your coach would say what he's really thinking,
Like I would respect that, Oh yeah, I would respect
that a lot. If old Brent Brant Venables would get
up there and be like, hey, listen, we're in trouble here, guys,
we need some We're gonna need a miracle against Texas
if if we don't have Matier. I mean, listen, they
get a bye to get this kid up to speed,

(30:07):
and then they play Kent State, which is basically I
mean that. I can't think of a better team for
you to face if you're trying to get a backup
quarterback right for a big game against Texas the following week.
We watched Hawkins junior last year. It was not pretty.
He's a runner first, he's a passer second. He had
that game. He's had some moments, right Like, I think

(30:31):
that's where you rally around a kid like this and
the defense is gonna have to be elite. But you
saw the market just completely respond the Heisman market. Matier
was the favorite, and I think he was gonna win
it or at least be in the mix, because the
thing about Oklahoma schedule is in late October, it's Ole Miss, Tennessee, Bama, Mizoo,
LSU those last five games, and then that South Carolina

(30:53):
as well, which I know they're not as they've had
some setbacks, but they're still a very good team with
another Heisman candidate on their side the ball. It felt
like this is kind of like the shot across the
bow that Oklahoma was probably going to give some of
this early wins back, but now they're really up against it.
I think unfortunately the season not the season's over, but

(31:16):
you know, any Heisman hopes and any national championship hopes
I think are dashed now.

Speaker 3 (31:21):
Well, the good news for Oklahoma Matier will be back.
You know, if you go on the other side of
the street, Oklahoma State, Mike Gundy will not be back.
He's gone forever, at least at Oklahoma State. He was
fired earlier this week. He was there for twenty one
years as the head coach. There was a streak of
eleven straight losses to FBS opponents, so it got dicey

(31:44):
down the stretch for sure, and losing to Tosa at
home was that it didn't happen since the like the
fifties or something like that, So that.

Speaker 4 (31:50):
Was the final straw.

Speaker 3 (31:52):
I was thinking of the Mike Gundy situation like this, Like, Jared,
you can relate to this. You're dating again, right, I try.

Speaker 5 (31:59):
It's hard out here in Vegas, but I'm trying.

Speaker 3 (32:01):
That's what I'm saying. Like, see, Rich is married. He
doesn't know how rough it is in these dating streets.

Speaker 4 (32:06):
You know, it's rough, but this happens.

Speaker 3 (32:09):
This happens a lot in the dating world. And it's
gonna sound a little callous, but it's true. There are
girls that are not pretty enough to be super high
maintenance guy. It's just the truth, right.

Speaker 4 (32:20):
It's like, listen, you're not a La nine like some.

Speaker 3 (32:24):
Strikingly beautiful You're more like a Tulsa five, you know
what I mean.

Speaker 4 (32:28):
You're more like a des Moin four. You know, you
should be cool and easy to get along.

Speaker 3 (32:34):
I would actually apply that to Oklahoma State. You're not Bama,
You're not Ohio State. You're Oklahoma State. And for what
you are, Mike Gundy was really good for you. I
know it got bad at the end, but Mike Gundy
overall for twenty one years. You could do a whole
lot worse at that school than what he did, and

(32:54):
they ran him.

Speaker 6 (32:55):
Man.

Speaker 4 (32:55):
Now some people would apply that to Mike Gundy.

Speaker 3 (32:58):
They would say, Hey, you're the guy that lost sixty
nine to three against Oregon. You've lost eleven straight FBS games, and.

Speaker 4 (33:05):
You're like, I'm not going anywhere.

Speaker 5 (33:06):
You know.

Speaker 4 (33:07):
It's like, who the hell are you? You know, so
you could apply I don't know.

Speaker 3 (33:10):
I haven't had a deal with Mike Gundy for the
last twenty one years. Maybe he's high maintenance too, I
don't know, but i'd apply that more to Oklahoma State.
Where you're not an upper echelon school for what you are.
I thought Mike Gundy was really good for them.

Speaker 6 (33:23):
Yeah, yeah, I don't disagree. You know, I will compare
it to a relationship that I'm more familiar with. You know,
I've been married a decade. I've been with the same
person for twenty years basically, and so you're right, I
don't know what dating looks like, but I do know
what a marriage looks like. And that's really what Oklahoma

(33:44):
State and Mike Gundy looked like.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
To me.

Speaker 6 (33:47):
It looked like a marriage that from the outside looking in,
you might say, well, yeah, they make sense together, like like,
that's a good couple. You know, Mike Gundy seems like
the right man with the right tone for that job.
And then all of a sudden you start hearing, yeah
you hear they're not doing so well.

Speaker 2 (34:07):
Oh what's going on?

Speaker 6 (34:08):
Well, you know, I mean, there are a couple of things,
and I don't know, all of a sudden, it sounds
like it sounds like they're not living together anymore. And
you're like, whoa Oklahoma State and my gunny?

Speaker 2 (34:17):
Really?

Speaker 6 (34:18):
And then next thing you next thing you hear it's
a divorce. And and you know, you could say, well,
you know, gosh, I mean, it really looked like the perfect,
the perfect pairing. But sometimes either, you know, a relationship
could be built under you know, on a poor foundation,

(34:39):
or sometimes there could be rot because you're not taking
care of the things, putting in the required work to
get to the right place in your relationship. As relationships
evolve and people evolve, you have this situation where Oklahoma
State and the nil error and their donors and their boosters,
they're on this path and maybe Mike Gundhy is on

(35:01):
this path and they can't connect anymore. And that's a
big problem. It's a problem in relationships. It's a problem
when you have a business pairing. And that's what this is.
It's a business and it's become a bigger business over.

Speaker 2 (35:15):
The last half decade.

Speaker 6 (35:16):
And there are a couple of coaches there, yeah, and
I'm talking about college football who have dug their heels
in and they said, I'm gonna do it my way
because my way works. You watch and unfortunately, if your
way doesn't work and your argument doesn't lend credence to
winning and success, then unfortunately, even the best of marriages

(35:38):
have to end and that's what it really felt like
with Oklahoma State and Mike Gundhy.

Speaker 5 (35:44):
I agree, nothing more to add. Whether they're dating sucks
in Vegas.

Speaker 4 (35:50):
That's really all it needs to be. You know, it
makes sense there.

Speaker 3 (35:54):
But my Gandhy ends as record at Oklahoma State one
seventy and ninety.

Speaker 2 (35:58):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (35:59):
I mean again, if you start comparing it to this
coach and that coach, it's so interesting because you can
make an argument on either side. You can make the hey,
it was time time to move on, left some to
be desired, and you could make the argument that we've
stated where it's like you can do a whole lot worse.
You can be a whole lot worse than Mike Gundy
at that particular school, and it's not like steeped in

(36:20):
rich football tradition, you know, So keep that in mind.
We've got a rich Ornberger, Penn State All American Jared
Smith FSR betting analyst, I'm Brian No.

All right, let's do this.

Speaker 1 (37:27):
Check this out our late letter.

Speaker 3 (37:31):
All right, you've got one selection for you. We pull
it together for a greater payout. Jared, we start with
you with something you like.

Speaker 5 (37:38):
Let's go to the SEC game of the night in
this conference. Maybe not in the nation, but certainly in
this conference. It's Bama at Georgia, and I'm gonna give
you Bama on the money line plus one. Twenty Kirby
Smartest struggled in this matchup one and six lifetime against
the Alabama Crimson bag. Georgia very young, very talented, but

(37:58):
I think Bama has just as much talent, if not.

Speaker 2 (38:00):
More, especially a quarterback.

Speaker 5 (38:02):
Gunner Stockton's a gamer, I love him, very gritty, but
I think Tye Simpsons is a legit Heisman candidate, and
if Alabama wins this game, he might even be the
favorite called Monday. This Tide offense is starting to remind
me a lot of twenty twenty three Washington Pistol play action.
They're not running quarterback power at the goal line with
Jalen Milroe anymore. It's a very different vibe. And all

(38:22):
good streaks must come to an end. Georgia's won thirty
three consecutive home games at Sanford Stadium. That ends tonight.
Roll Tide, Baby Bam on the money line.

Speaker 2 (38:30):
Okay, I like this.

Speaker 6 (38:32):
Indiana Iowa over forty seven and a half. Right now,
Indiana poses an extreme threat to Iowa. Against Rutgers, Iowa
couldn't sustain any drives. I mean Indiana is a punishing
offensive onslaught.

Speaker 2 (38:49):
There will be no breaks from explosive plays.

Speaker 6 (38:52):
I look at it this way. Indiana is going to
power through this one. They may score forty eight points
on their own. Iowa could get some give me points
up there on the board and will only help my argument.
Give me the over Indiana Iowa today kickoff two thirty.

Speaker 2 (39:07):
I'll take the over forty seven and a half.

Speaker 5 (39:10):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (39:11):
I just think of Hayden Fry shaking his head in
you know, disagreement on the.

Speaker 4 (39:18):
We're giving up forty a you kidding me?

Speaker 2 (39:20):
Or murder.

Speaker 4 (39:22):
I'm gonna give you an over as well.

Speaker 3 (39:23):
Let me go to this Ohio State Washington contest over
fifty two and a half. A few simple reasons, like
Washington's defense is so banged up. Start cornerback to Carrio Davis.
He's doubtful for this one. They already have a nickel out,
They've got a linebacker out. Not ideal when you're going
up against the buck eyes a right, like our star

(39:44):
corner is out.

Speaker 4 (39:45):
Oh who do we have to guard?

Speaker 5 (39:46):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (39:47):
Just Jeremiah Smith?

Speaker 5 (39:48):
Is that guy?

Speaker 4 (39:49):
We got Cartnel Tate?

Speaker 2 (39:51):
Just that guy?

Speaker 3 (39:51):
Also, that's not that's not great first road start for
Julian saying, but I think the buck guys score a
good amount of points and Washington's offense is tough to
deal with. We respect Ohio State's defense, but man Devin
Williams Junior is a dual threat play maker, and it's
as a tough place to play at Washington. I think

(40:13):
the Huskies are gonna score a decent amount of points.
I like the over fifty two and a half in
now one.

Speaker 2 (40:18):
I like this.

Speaker 5 (40:20):
So we haven't talked a lot about Ohio States offense
because they kind of know showed in Week one against
Texas they didn't have to do much and then they
played the Sisters of the Poor since but I'll be honest,
the Heisman Trophy is up for grabs. If Jeremiah Smith
goes bananas today, maybe he's the favorite come Monday.

Speaker 2 (40:38):
Right.

Speaker 4 (40:39):
That was my guy before the season kicking off. He's
just lurking right now for gra.

Speaker 5 (40:45):
Okay, it's up for grabs, Julians saying, first road game
scares me a little bit, but I agree. I mean,
both these teams like the pressure, Brian, and you're going
one on one against Kate Smith and Ennis out there
on the outside. If you're bringing pressure for Washington, I
don't know.

Speaker 2 (40:58):
Yeah, might be a disaster.

Speaker 4 (41:00):
We'll kind of payout. O. We're looking at here.

Speaker 2 (41:02):
Pretty good.

Speaker 5 (41:03):
It was six to one before the boost. But listen,
bet MGM always sucks us up with a nice little
sweet boost today twenty five percent boost plus eight fifty six.
I like it. Get Bam on the money line plus
money and then the two overs. I think this is
a good one, guys to.

Speaker 4 (41:19):
One, all right, I like it very nice right there?
All right, come it up next.

Speaker 3 (41:24):
Arguably the game of the day, certainly the game of
the day on this show.

Speaker 5 (41:29):
We'll explain.

Speaker 4 (41:30):
Oh, good morning, happy Saturday to you.

Speaker 3 (41:32):
We are two hours away from kickoff, and man, it
is a loaded slate of college football action today. Can't
wait for it. Hey, this isn't just a game, It's
a once in a generation event. The Harlem Globe Trotter
is one hundred year tour. Come be a part of
a legacy that never stops. Be there when history is made.
The Harlem Globe Trotters one hundred year Tour. Get your

(41:53):
tickets today at Harlem Globetrotters dot Com. I did mention
that the game of the day, at least on this show. Yeah,
it's gonna be Oregon at Penn State. Close second would
be Notre Dame at Arkansas. Close second.

Speaker 5 (42:09):
You in alignment with us today? Are you admitting that
the game of the day isn't happy thout it is.

Speaker 4 (42:14):
It's the matchup of the day.

Speaker 3 (42:16):
You know, we'll see if it's the game of the day,
but it's certainly like if you've got a marquee, that's
the game that's at the top, right, And then the
biggest letters is Oregon at Penn State because number six
against number three, and it's the James Franklin. The James
Franklin thing, right is it's gonna be small game James
yet again? Is he gonna shake off some of the

(42:37):
demons there? I think one of the biggest questions for
this game is how much will Drew Aller need.

Speaker 4 (42:44):
To do right?

Speaker 3 (42:45):
It's a legitimate question. The Penn State quarterback, he has
not been good so far.

Speaker 5 (42:49):
Listen to this.

Speaker 3 (42:50):
He ranks one hundred and eleventh in QBR this season,
and that's against Billy Bob Tech and McGillicuddy State and
these bums that they've these first three games they played nobody,
and he's thrown four touchdown passes in three games. So
that's that's the first question is how much is he
going to need to do? The more that Penn State's
defense does, the more that their running game does, the

(43:12):
less Alur is going to need to do. And it's
not to say he can't do it, it's just a
question of how much is he going to need to do?
And then we go from there. So that's that's I
think the biggest question for.

Speaker 4 (43:24):
Penn State in this one. How much is he going
to need to do?

Speaker 6 (43:27):
Yeah, in games like this, You're absolutely right, Brian, you
need to start fast if you're the Penn State offense
because where they're really lacking is explosives in the passing game.

Speaker 2 (43:38):
And when do you need those.

Speaker 6 (43:40):
Well, when you need him is when you're trailing, you're
trailing late in the half, you want to make sure
that you bracket the half with points, that you win
that middle eight minutes of the game that's really integral,
or when it's the end of the game and you
need to make something happen the fourth quarter. Explosive passes
isn't something that a lot of teams are rate at

(44:00):
generating anyways, but certain teams have a habit of it.
Penn State does not. Drew Aler has looked pretty vanilla
over the course of some ease into the season type
games that they've scheduled to start this one out. This
is the first real test, and it is a real
test against a very significant Oregon secondary. We can get

(44:22):
into that a little bit more, but focusing on where
Penn State can.

Speaker 2 (44:25):
Win this game.

Speaker 6 (44:27):
They got to lean on their run game, Allen and
Singleton out of the backfield. Allen so far having the
better season. They need to score early. They need to
play bully ball with that great defense they have. Get
Oregon off the field, long sustained drives, lean on the clock,
shorten the game, make this a war of attrition. Use
the home field advantage so that you're never quieting this statement.

(44:51):
You're only fueling the fire with Coles. That's how you
win this game. And so essentially answer your question, going
back to the Drew Owler question, you win this game
by not making it a Drew Owler game.

Speaker 5 (45:07):
Yeah, let's get into this, because honestly, this was page
one of the notes of all the film studies this week.
Watch a lot of Oregon tape on defense. Watch a
lot of Penn State offense, not from this year, more
from years past. Drew Aller though on twenty plus yard
throws downfield this year, two for eight, two touchdowns, one
turnover worthy play. Well, from what I'm told, he has

(45:28):
coached to underthrow the deep balls to give his team
a chance to make the play. That can't. You can't
do that in this game. You just can't. You've got
to put these throws on the money. Oregon Secondary, let's
get into it rich. They've got three new starters from
last year's team. Dylan Thineman's the Purdue transfer. He's at
free safety. And you got two corners that are new
Jaden Kennedy, ole Miss transfer, and a true freshman Drew

(45:50):
Finney junior, who actually Penn State targeted in the recruiting process.
These are the guys you want to exploit. Why I
think Oregon is going to have to stacked the box
to stop the run. They couldn't stop the run against
Penn State last year when a Penn State had no receivers,
and B Derek Carmon was your nose tackle, who is
a first rounder. Harmon's gone, and I think you've got

(46:12):
some softness in the middle. They're not soft, but they're
softer than last year for sure. I do think they
can get after you with the pass rush. Matteo Ujung Lalay,
the brother of Dju, he's their best pass rusher. He's
a little bulky six five two seventy five, but he's
got some nice moves off the edge. And they've got
this other kid, Tiedem Tuati, who is more of a

(46:35):
Havoc guy, smaller, a little bit shorter frame sixty three
two sixty five. I think those are the guys off
the edge that you have to look out for. I
don't love what I've seen from the Penn State tackles
this year. Shelton and Ruccie have kind of been a
little bit again soft on the edge. The one thing
I love about this offensive line is the middle. They
are fantastic guard center guard, and I think that's where

(46:56):
Penn State can win here because again, Oregon's d tackles
are not as strong as last year, and Penn State
has a couple of all Americans in the middle at
garden center. So I think the strategy is very simple.
You run it up the gut until Oregon stacks the box,
and then once they do, you're gonna have one on
one matchups with that young secondary on the outside against

(47:16):
receivers that Penn State played paid a lot of money
for in the portal Hudson Panion Ross go earn your money, guys.
You get one on one matchups with a true freshman
corner on the outside, you got to win. And I
think that's the kind of game within the game I
see for the Nitney Lions offense in this one.

Speaker 4 (47:30):
No, that makes sense.

Speaker 3 (47:31):
I like that breakdown, and I like they're not soft,
but they have soft tendencies basically right. But that one
to two combo what Penn State brings in the running
game right where it starts with those running backs k
Tron Allen Nicholas Singleton. How much can Oregon do to
limit their effectiveness? Because you're right, it's it's like, if

(47:54):
they're able to run the ball effectively and Aler has
to do less, that's advantage Penn State. And if you
can work Aller into that you know, functioning running game,
you know, tastefully done, that's exactly what Penn State wants
to do. If you're Oregon, you want to force them
to use Aller more than they want to use him.
And you're gonna have all these NFL scouts there, a

(48:16):
bunch of teams gonna be there to scout Drew Aller
huge game, and that to me, if you look at
the other side and Oregon, you guys are basically alluding
to this, it's how do you handle the stage. This
is a mammoth stage you're facing, you know, the number
three team in the country on the road in that atmosphere.
Dante More has been fantastic so far, but this is

(48:36):
the biggest game of his career. And you mentioned all
these new starters for Oregon all over the place. How
do they communicate, how do they just handle their assignments,
how do they handle the whole situation. That's that's a
mammoth test for Oregon as well. And I think starting
off well is a big deal. You want to settle
in a little bit, right. You don't want to get

(48:57):
off to a rocky star Metge of Penn's date gets
the opening kickoff and March is right down the field,
hot knife through butter. How are you gonna settle in?
If you're the Ducks, it makes it way tougher. So
I think a fast start a good start. I think
it's more important for Oregon in this one.

Speaker 2 (49:13):
Yeah, I don't disagree.

Speaker 6 (49:14):
I think, really, whoever scores first and and you know,
hopefully for them often is going to win this game.
I don't I don't expect necessarily to see a wire
to wire win. But it wouldn't shock me. It would
not shock me because momentum is going to be a
hell of a thing in this game. And so watch

(49:37):
for whoever scores first having a great chance to finish
this game.

Speaker 2 (49:40):
And I mean that, and not.

Speaker 6 (49:42):
Many games are decided in the first quarter, but this
is this is gonna be a heavyweight bout between two
Big ten teams who have real chances to win a
national championship.

Speaker 2 (49:52):
Oregon's a squad. Penn State will.

Speaker 6 (49:55):
Batter you if if they let you. Here's how Oregon
can win this one.

Speaker 2 (49:59):
They have to win on the outside.

Speaker 6 (50:01):
Okay, so their quarterback Dante Moore really good job connecting
with his explosive receivers. But Joseph and Dixon on the outside,
the Penn State corners are lockdown guys. But if you
can get the ball outside on this defense, get this
defense running sideline to sideline, break some tackles not easy

(50:21):
against Penn State. You can start to tire out a
squad that creates a lot of havoc. Now, defensively, what
they got to stop is the outside zone, and they
haven't been able to do it, especially if you turn
on that Oregon Oregon State film. When I talk about
the outside zone for anybody who doesn't know like football terminology, basically,

(50:42):
it's a stretch play to one side or the other
where you see the running back running.

Speaker 2 (50:47):
The whole offensive.

Speaker 6 (50:48):
Line is like a tidal wave going toward the sideline
and it's up to the running back to this side.
Am I gonna keep this run side or am I
gonna cut it back? Everybody's in their gaps or has
a hard time stopping this. Teams against them have something
like a sixty plus success.

Speaker 2 (51:05):
Rate using the outside zone.

Speaker 6 (51:07):
It's not good enough, especially when you tag an RPO,
which is a pass option off of this style of
run play, which is something that's up in the Penn
State playbook.

Speaker 2 (51:17):
So they've got to prove they.

Speaker 6 (51:18):
Can stop that against the stiffest competition they're going to
see on the ground. With Singleton and Allen out of
that Penn State backfield, If they can do that, if
they can throw the ball to the outside, you know
it's going to be a good day for the Ducks.
If they can stop the outside zone that Penn State
is most likely likely going to be running because they
saw the same film I saw. And so if I'm

(51:41):
offensive coordinator at an opponent's school looking at where Oregon
struggles on defense, I'm running the stuff they struggle against.
So if they can prove they can stop the outside
zone for the first time this season, I think it
could be a w fororgan.

Speaker 2 (51:56):
It's a tall task. It is a tall task in
a loud environment.

Speaker 5 (52:00):
I'm gonna go on on a limb and say, you're
not going to find any Penn State organ breakdowns better
than what you're getting on this show. Right here. I'll
just say that right here, Dante More, I don't know
what you're gonna get. I mean, he's looked great. He's
looked like a frickin rock star, you know, and this
is just one of those environments where we'll see how
he handles it. I admire the fact that he set

(52:22):
like this is a five star recruit like picture in
the college prooble environment we're in where it's just money grab,
money grab, money grab. This is a five star recruit,
went do you see late to start his career starter
as a true freshman at UCLA, Struggle transferred to Oregon,
sat behind Dylan Gabriel for a year and learn the
will Stein system. That is admirable for a five star

(52:42):
kid these days. That does not happen very often anymore.
I think it's paid off, but again, he has not
played in an environment like this. The top weapon for
organ to Coreyan Moore is the guy that really scares me.
Track speed. Not a one trick pony either. He's a
polished route runner. They're gonna move him around. You're gonna
see a lot of motion every play. You need to
identify where is number one? Where is he on the field.

(53:05):
The jet motion is a staple of their offense. You've
got to respect it. The linebackers are going to be very,
very impactful in this in figuring out if the jet
motion is getting the ball or if he's going out
for a route. The other guys that more will throw
to Malik Benson, Gary Bryant Junior. I think they're more speedsters.
But Rich nailed it and Brian you alluded to it. Too,

(53:26):
Tracy Harris Collins. Those are the Penn State corners, their upperclassmen.
That's the matchup to watch. Can they shut down more
on the jet motion and can they turn it back
inside and allow those linebackers to eat Kenyan Sadik scares
me even more though. This guy is a freak nasty
run blocker, relentless through the whistle. He will try to
get under your skin and draw penalties, and in this

(53:47):
environment you have to keep your cool. I don't think
Dante Moore is a runner by trade. He reminds me
a lot of Gabriel, actually elusive in the pocket. But
you don't need to spy him, so keep him contained
and if he breaks contain, that's where his legs can
hurt you. But I don't think they're gonna call a
lot of design quarterback runs. The offensive line for Oregon
is gettable at tackle. Alex Harkey is soft on the

(54:07):
right side. I've seen a lot of bend around him
this year, and on the left side, Isaiah World again
doesn't have the strongest set. I think bowl rushing with
Sutton and Durant are going to be very effective in
this game. This is why you pay Jim knowles millions
of dollars to come coach your defense, to figure out
a way to get pressure on the quarterback. Go watch
the Big Ten title film from last year. Dylan Gabriel

(54:29):
was chilling back there picking apart this team. It was
really tough to watch. Getting pressure on Dante more and
heating him up is the key to winning this game.
I think they can do it because I think Oregon's
offensive line is gettable, and I think Denied Dena Sutton's
the first round talent. But it's got to be exotic blitzes.
It's got to be interesting twists and stunts. Get Zane
Durant going from the inside to the outside, Sutton bending

(54:51):
around the edge. I think that's guys. The key to
this game is Penn State's defensive line making life miserable
for Dante Moore.

Speaker 2 (55:00):
Yep. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (55:01):
And I like Sadek in the passing game too. The
Oregon's tight end. He's good, he's a weapon, and you
mentioned all these wide receiver weapons that Oregon has.

Speaker 4 (55:10):
I kind of like it in this matchup.

Speaker 3 (55:12):
They always say styles make fights in football, right, Like, well,
we use it in football.

Speaker 4 (55:16):
It's obviously a boxing thing, but.

Speaker 3 (55:18):
Styles make fights where you talk about the lockdown corners
that Penn State has. I kind of like for Oregon,
like you have Dante mar he spreads it out all
over the place. You've got Benson and Dakarion Moore and
Brian Junior and McLellan and Sadek and you got all
these weapons all over Any of them can get involved today,
and I like that. I like the threat for Oregon

(55:38):
to have all these different guys that can get into
the mix. As far as Oregon's defense goes, I do
everything I possibly can to limit the effectiveness of the
running game Easier said than done. I want to make
Drew Aller beat us, you know what I'm saying. Like
for Oregon, it's like make Aller beat us.

Speaker 4 (55:57):
And that sounds weird.

Speaker 3 (55:58):
Where a lot of people were talking about him being
the number one overall pick. I really do think it
comes down to that because he's not the strength of
the offense.

Speaker 4 (56:05):
The strength is the running game.

Speaker 3 (56:07):
He's a guy that's had weird footwork and bad decisions
at times and throwing costly interceptions. And even though he's
a first round talent and a prospect, I think their
running game is way better than he is. So if
I'm Oregon, I do everything I can to put it
on Aler's shoulders.

Speaker 2 (56:23):
I completely agree.

Speaker 6 (56:25):
I completely agree, And you know what, it isn't ridiculous
because let's think about Let's think about some other great
teams who had great quarterbacks, college quarterbacks who had legitimate
Heisman buzz where you would say the same thing, like
how many times has Alabama had a phenomenal offense over

(56:45):
the Nick Saban years? And they had a quarterback who
is game managing basically, but he was a threat because
he could get it to his receivers on time if
he gave him the windows too. But they were leaning
on the run game with the hoard of unbelievable running
backs they had over the time that Nick Saban was
the head coach of that team. But like, okay, AJ mccaron,

(57:09):
you know.

Speaker 2 (57:09):
What I mean.

Speaker 6 (57:09):
Like if you went down to Tuscaloosa and you know
they were popping off and you know, rushing for one
hundred and fifty yards a game and having explosive plays
in the pass game based off their play action passes,
you would say, Hey, let's make this game about AJ
mccaron beating us. Let's shut down the run let's sell
out to shut down the run and have him try

(57:31):
It's the same thing. It's just twenty years later.

Speaker 2 (57:35):
I guess.

Speaker 6 (57:35):
Twelve years later, you have Drew Aller, Who's a guy
running an offense. Now, can anybody run that offense? No,
not necessarily. Is he a talented quarterback, Yes, of course
he is, but he is managing this offense. So if
you can put this guy in a position where he's
got to go, put it all on his back and
win it. I trust that formula a lot more than

(57:58):
I say, Hey, let them meet up front and get
gobble up all the ground game yards and let's just
play cover three shell against Penn State. No, no, no, no,
because you are going to get Nickel and dime to death.
You will lose that game and you will die the
slow death. You need to stop the run, force the
game into Drew Howler's hand, force him to make a
mistake that turns the tide for you.

Speaker 2 (58:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (58:19):
I totally agree. Again, in the Big Ten championship game
last year, Singleton and Allen combined for two twenty nine,
and that was without a Penn State having any receiving help.
Remember the Notre Dame game a few weeks later, they
couldn't even complete a pass to a receiver a one.
Brian and I had as many receptions that night as

(58:40):
the Penn State receivers did. Now they have three legit
game breakers on the outside that all do different things. Again,
I mentioned him earlier, Hudson Paynen rolls. They all signed
big nil deals transfer in the offseason. That earn your money, guys.
And Oregon's defensive lines kind of exotic. They're kind of
actually reminding me of their form styles. Tony Lupoi is

(59:03):
he likes to mix up the blitzes. He likes to
mix up the fronts. They'll run three, four and five
down lineman stunts or fronts excuse me. And then another
thing they do that I noticed on tape is right
at the last second, they will shift. So the communication
upfront is essential for the offensive line because if you're
getting a three right and rich I'm not I don't
want to get two in the weeds. But if you're

(59:23):
showing something and then all of a sudden they'll move
at the last second, that interior of the offensive line,
the communication is huge. I love the Penn State interior.
I think Dawkins and Ione Vega. I can't never pronounce
his first his last name.

Speaker 2 (59:36):
He is.

Speaker 5 (59:37):
He's an Outland Trophy guy. So guard center guard for
Penn State is about as good as it gets. And
I think that is to me. If you're gonna run
these weird stunts and twists up front and o're gonna
bring the double mug. We heard Eli Manning talk about
that all the time on the Manning cast. Right, they
bring those two linebackers right in the A gap. You

(59:57):
have to be good guard center guard. And I think again,
if Oregon is going to force Penn State to throw it,
you have one on one matchups with true freshmen and
replacement corners, and you've got star nil transfer receivers. One
on one, go win, guys, go win. That's what you're

(01:00:20):
being paid to do. If you're giving me Hudson and
pay you one on one on the outside with a
true freshman Drew Finnie Junr, you gotta win that matchup
or else you're not a top ten team period end
of year.

Speaker 6 (01:00:31):
And just to jump in here, real, Brian, I know
we got a scram but that point you made about
Oregon's defensive front is absolutely right.

Speaker 2 (01:00:39):
Look, they're they're.

Speaker 6 (01:00:40):
Trying to out sexy themselves. It's like they're dumping sex
panther cologne on themselves to cover up some of some
of the problems they have. Yeah, you can get real
unique with your line shifts and your stunts and things
like that, but against a strong run game, that's why
a lot of teams go to the outside zone because
when you're shifting and you're stunting, if I'm just run

(01:01:00):
to a gap, I can gobble up all that stuff
on the run. If I'm running gap scheme, which means
like your classic power or duo or ISO, you know
where everybody's got a run blocking assignment and it's like
I am responsible for this down lineman to that linebacker.
Well could get awfully confusing. Whereas when you're running a
zone scheme, everybody's just moving to a gap. Whoever shows

(01:01:23):
up in that gap, that's who I'm blocking. And that's
the reason why the Ducks have had a hard time
stopping the outside zone with the RPO off of it,
because they get caught with their pants down. You can
open some caverns, some huge gaps in your defensive front
when you're trying to stunt on the run against the
zone concept, and so that's a key watch that early

(01:01:45):
in this game and see if Oregon gets away from
it because Penn State schemes them out of it.

Speaker 5 (01:01:50):
That's exactly what I rise that the other side of this,
the late movement upfront can sometimes open massive holes and
block correctly.

Speaker 2 (01:01:55):
Yep.

Speaker 5 (01:01:55):
So Oregon sometimes runs themselves out of good defensive situations
because they like to get a little too cute, and
you have to get cute when I think you're out. Man.
I tried to be as objective as possible with the
sandicap because I know that we're doing this for on
national radio and for money, and I don't want to
just be a homer. The edge in the narrative in

(01:02:16):
this game is not James Franklin or Dreweller. The edge
in this game for Penn State. They have a top
five O line and a top five D line and
Oregon is not as tough in the trenches as they
were last year. That is the part of this game
where I think Penn State really can and should win.

Speaker 3 (01:02:33):
All Right, we've got a thirty second interview with Seamus

Ah.

Speaker 3 (01:04:11):
Yes, our good friend Seamus McGee, team lead of Sports
Trading at BETMGM.

Speaker 4 (01:04:15):
He joins us here. Good morning to you, Seamus.

Speaker 3 (01:04:18):
Okay, props to your Virginia squad over there taking down
Florida State. You had boots on the ground. You gotta
walk us through it. I know you're too high brow
to flip off Castellanos. So did you trample the poor
Florida State receiver on that final play?

Speaker 4 (01:04:33):
And again what happened?

Speaker 3 (01:04:34):
I want to know the blow by blow of your
experience on the field.

Speaker 5 (01:04:37):
Dear Shamus.

Speaker 9 (01:04:39):
Wow, I come in biggest win, second biggest uva win
of my lifetime. And we're talking about the player safety
of field storming only only the football everywhere else. No,
no one got hurt, but this is what we're talking about.

(01:04:59):
It was absolutely electric last night.

Speaker 5 (01:05:02):
I mean, the.

Speaker 9 (01:05:03):
Crowd is great. I won a game of football too,
like just from a you know, a nonbus perspective. Just
a great game to be at. But yeah, it was
just insanity last night, amazing to be at.

Speaker 5 (01:05:17):
I'm just glad you still made it on to your
to your slot this morning with us.

Speaker 9 (01:05:22):
I mean, there was if they lost it over time.
Let's be honest.

Speaker 2 (01:05:28):
I was worried.

Speaker 5 (01:05:31):
I got a text from Seamus and it was late
for me. I was up late, you know, doing some
research for the show and I got a text some Shamus.
So it must have been really late on the East
coast and he's on the field. Take it selfies, No,
we we appreciate you hopping on with us this morning, Shamus.
It seems like Oregon is a very trendy dog today
based off of the splits that John Ewing and the
bet MGM folks sent me last night. Is that still

(01:05:53):
the case? Do the public betters believe that Oregon is
going to march into Happy Valley tonight and get a win.

Speaker 9 (01:06:00):
Yeah, Oregon definitely seems to be a bit trending today
in a white out at benn State. It's a little
it's kind of a first for everything, you know what
I mean. But it'll be interesting to see. Stak's not
necessarily a need right now. I think if anything we
need anything in the game is going to be under
a lot of money coming in on the over in
that game. So right now, hope for a lower scoring game,

(01:06:21):
which that kind of thing may happen.

Speaker 6 (01:06:24):
Yeah, that's interesting because I could see that being the
most bet game. But is that the most bet or
either of those two teams the most bet team today
at bet MGM.

Speaker 9 (01:06:35):
Ohio State is taking a lot of uns today, which
is interesting because that's it's looking to be a little
Bos versus Jones in that game at Washington. Washington seems
to be a sharp side here and Public is really
hitting Ohio State.

Speaker 3 (01:06:49):
Today, I guess building off of that, you know, I
could see you being a contrarian. You are a contrarian
on my first question, how dare you seam as Vigie
Bett a good contrarian play right. Where are you looking
at the Huskies? You looking somewhere else today?

Speaker 9 (01:07:05):
I personally love Washington today. I think Demand Williams is
a name a lot of people in this country are
going to get familiar with today. I think he's a
really good quarterback that he's merely getting a lot of
shine from a lot of the national media. So I'd
think Washington is personally my favorite contrarian play today.

Speaker 5 (01:07:22):
I love it. And Jonah Coleman too. We talked about
a lot of him last year. And it's going to
be funny when Washington scored significantly more points against this
Ohio State defense than arch Malanning did a few weeks ago.
I think that's going to continue the arch descent into madness.
Georgia Obama. Another fascinating game tonight. It's kind of flipped here,
right the dog. The public loves the dog in the

(01:07:43):
other big game Oregon and Penn State. It kind of
seems like the favorite catching some love here with Georgia.

Speaker 9 (01:07:50):
Another pros versus Joe's looking like game. A lot of
money coming in on George. A lot of bets on
Georgia today. But the sharp side is vam wide open
four and a half of bet MGM and it's down
to two and a half now, so it's gonna be
interesting to see when that one goes. But similar to
Penn Sted Oregon State, it's gonna be Penn State Oregon.
Excuse me, we're gonna need the under there just as

(01:08:12):
much as we need to under in Oregon. Penn State.
A lot of love for me over in that game,
you know what.

Speaker 6 (01:08:17):
That's so funny, So you mentioned the over. A lot
of love there, Penn State Oregon. The over on Georgia
Bama a game that I figured people would love the
over four and we have yet to talk about it
here on the show today, but I know we will.

Speaker 2 (01:08:30):
Is Notre Dame Arkansas. I'm even leaning toward the over.

Speaker 9 (01:08:36):
Yeah, it's funny like before the season this, you wouldn't
even think this line is closed as sixty three and
a half. And I don't know if the number is
low enough. I don't know if the Nubs high enough right now.
Hasn't played very good defense. I think Tablin Green is
one of the best quarterbacks in the SCC this year,

(01:08:56):
but it is sharp the under sharp Wine did open
sixty four and a half. Now we're sitting at sixty
three and a half.

Speaker 4 (01:09:02):
You know, real fast before your Seamus special.

Speaker 3 (01:09:05):
When we do this pros versus Joe's thing, Seamus, I,
there has to be at some point that you're on
the quote unquote Joe's side, you know what I mean,
You're on the square side, but you think it's the
right side when you find yourself on like actually I
do like the over in the Notre Dame game, or
actually I do like the buck. Guys, will you stick

(01:09:26):
with that or will you kind of shy off of
that because it's supposedly the square side?

Speaker 4 (01:09:30):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 9 (01:09:32):
I'm of the opinion that, you know, every every line
has a certain breaking point. You know, sometimes I think
lines move too much, and I think it's totally fine
to take you know, the opposite side of the shark betters.
But you know you're not exactly fading the sharp better
because they got a way better line on you than
you know, three days out. So I don't have a

(01:09:55):
problem taking you know, the not sharp side just because
I think it personally moved too much in some cases.

Speaker 4 (01:10:01):
Yeah, no doubt.

Speaker 2 (01:10:02):
Fair enough.

Speaker 4 (01:10:03):
Okay, what's your shame of special today?

Speaker 2 (01:10:04):
Buddy?

Speaker 9 (01:10:07):
It's gotta be the Long Island Sharks laying four and
a half on the road at stone Hill obviously, gosh.

Speaker 2 (01:10:14):
It has to be Long Island.

Speaker 4 (01:10:17):
What are they laying four and a half?

Speaker 2 (01:10:19):
You said, l a U.

Speaker 9 (01:10:21):
You can find four and a half out there, so
I would grab that.

Speaker 2 (01:10:25):
Well you can, Okay, all over it.

Speaker 3 (01:10:27):
Somebody tweeted me last week it was like, what was
seamuses play?

Speaker 4 (01:10:31):
And then yeah it was.

Speaker 9 (01:10:33):
It was it was the worst thick of my life.

Speaker 2 (01:10:41):
Who Harvard play?

Speaker 5 (01:10:45):
Oh Stetson?

Speaker 3 (01:10:47):
Yeah I don't get the result, but I'm literally typing
out Stetson. Yeah, that's that's what he went with here today.
You know, I'm not trying to bring up bad memories.
I was just it was a funny tweet to.

Speaker 2 (01:10:57):
Have to everybody.

Speaker 5 (01:10:59):
Everybody knows Stetson always.

Speaker 2 (01:11:02):
Plays the Crimsons, so tough.

(01:11:36):
four hundred yards of offense per game and they're facing
Arkansas and that Bobby Petrino offense and all the problems
that they Taylor Green is just they's just drooling looking
at that defense.

Speaker 2 (01:11:50):
Right now.

Speaker 4 (01:11:51):
The Irish can score to like freaking perdue score thirty.

All right, let's do this right.

Speaker 3 (01:13:19):
Prop it up player plays, Okay, so many prop betting opportunities.

Speaker 4 (01:13:26):
Jared, We start with you with something you like and.

Speaker 5 (01:13:28):
We talked about it in the last segment. Guys, Kalen
Green over two hundred and seventy three and a half
passing yards. This feels like a bet today against this
Notre Dame secondary. Green top ten in yards and exposed
to pass right. This Notre Dame secondary really prone to
giving up the explosives. Marshall Reid went off for three
six the produce Ryan Brown average twelve yards for completion.

(01:13:50):
It's been wrong. Christian Gray has been getting toasted up
like my past all season. Twenty one targets, three receptions
or thirteen receptions, three penalties, and then you got the
three others allowing over seventeen yards per catch. Hobb Zachary Golden.
Leonard Moore is a serviceable corner, but he's injured right
now and he's questionable to play in this game. Arkansas
is not the offense you want to face when your

(01:14:11):
secondary is not playing well. Omega Blake, that's the guy
to watch. The receiver for Arkansas. I think might have
a big game six foot two, big body x fifth
year senior transfer, thirty five targets in four games. I
think Notre Dame will have the lead as well, so
this could be a positive game script for Tyln Dream
to get some passing yards over two seventy three and
a half for the Arkansas Keepeas.

Speaker 6 (01:14:30):
All right, give me Mike Matthews Tennessee Volunteers wide receiver.
He's averaging over fifteen yards per catch. He's got sixteen
receptions on the season. Here's why the Tennessee Volunteers are
taking on the Mississippi State Bulldogs, who don't have much
of a pass rush to speak of, and they've played
against a bunch of nobody's in ASU and they can't

(01:14:53):
generate a pass rush.

Speaker 2 (01:14:54):
So I think that Tennessee is going to have a
field day.

Speaker 6 (01:14:58):
Their quarterback is going to have to I'm I think
Mike Matthews going over forty two and a half is
an all day pick for me. So that's my that's
my prop for you guys. Mike Matthews. Get to know him.
He's a burner.

Speaker 3 (01:15:11):
Okay, I'm gonna go back to this Notre Dame Arkansas game.
I'm going with Malachai fields, Notre Dame wide receiver. Give
me over fifty four and a half receiving yards. Big body,
six foot four. Former Virginia cav Right came over to
Notre Dame and he's been really, really good.

Speaker 4 (01:15:28):
He's had a good chemistry with CJ.

Speaker 2 (01:15:30):
Carr.

Speaker 3 (01:15:30):
That Arkansas defense can be exploited early often throughout.

Speaker 4 (01:15:35):
I like Malachai Fields.

Speaker 3 (01:15:36):
He is a fifty receiving yard metronome over there seemed
a little bit better than fifty. Give me over fifty
four and a half for elite for Malachai Fields, I like. Look, man,
even if it stays under in that game, it's not
gonna be my much. It's gonna be a lot of
yards and good amount of points in that Arkansas Notre
Dame game, for sure.

Speaker 4 (01:15:56):
So I would be targeting many player prop unders.

Speaker 5 (01:16:00):
In that one.

Speaker 4 (01:16:00):
I'll put it that way.

Speaker 3 (01:16:02):
Yeah, some of them are gonna cash, right, but there
are a lot of them that I think there are
more that to the over that will catch than the under.

Speaker 2 (01:16:08):
There's a lot of overs that look good. Today. We
talked about the Ohio State game.

Speaker 6 (01:16:13):
We talked about the Alabama game, This Mississippi State Tennessee game.
Not a lot of defense is gonna be played three
and one balls against the four and oh Bulldogs. Both
of these teams have pretty high powered offenses. Not much
to speak up defensively. Yeah, so I mean Oregon Penn State.
That's another game where the overs in play. We're gonna

(01:16:34):
see offense today. I think we're gonna see a lot
of offense.

Speaker 5 (01:16:37):
I don't got it at Mississippi State game too.

Speaker 3 (01:16:39):
Go ahead, Bright, Yeah, I'm just gonna say I've got
an underspot, and I agree with you Rich. There's one
game where Auburn at Texas A and M. Now, I'm
not expecting, you know, like ten to six or something
like that, but Auburn's rush defense is unbelievable, like Oklahoma
could do nothing, and Oklahoma's run game is just Okay.

(01:17:00):
A and M is better, But I kind of like
the Le'Veon Moss under sixty seven and a half rushing
yards against that. Auburn has one of the best rush
defenses in the country, So I could see under sixty
seven and a half hitting. You know, A and M
can throw it around. You know, they've got a good
passing game with Marcel Reid. So that's one that I've
got my eye on. Lavion Moss under sixty seven and a half.

Speaker 2 (01:17:21):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (01:17:22):
The other quarterback that just missed my list today was
Sellers South Carolina. Yeah, Kentucky's really like Kentucky's now because
Missippi State really good. By the way, that's an upset
game potentially in Mississippi State at home more cowboll maybe, but
we'll get to that later. Lenar Sellers two thirty and
a half pretty low number for a Heisman candidate, and

(01:17:43):
right he's coming off the injury against MISSOUI didn't have
a great game. Now he gets Kentucky, who is the
They are the bottom feeder in the SEC. I think
they're the only team in the SEC where you look
at them and you say, Okay, we're gonna have a
week off against Kentucky because they're not very good. This
could be the game where Leonoris inserts himself back into
Heisman contention. Probably not gonna win it, but it feels like,

(01:18:07):
to Rich's point that you've got some sleeping giants in
the college football world because we haven't had the big
conference games, we haven't had the spotlight games yet. I
think Jeremiah Smith is won. I definitely think Leonora Sells
is another. These were Heisman favorites, heisland front runners heading
end of the year that just haven't shown it yet.
I think Sellers has a really tasty matchup against KSUMPI today.

Speaker 2 (01:18:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:18:30):
Yeah, he hasn't had his coming out party yet this season.
I'll give you one more since we're I mean, this
is fun actually, just yeah, I love spaghetti at the.

Speaker 2 (01:18:41):
Little extra time.

Speaker 6 (01:18:42):
How about Ryan Williams Crimson Tide wide receiver. Again, if
the over's in play, somebody's got to have a day.
Ryan Williams over sixty two and a half receiving yards
feels like a hit there.

Speaker 2 (01:18:56):
This is just where we're at in college football.

Speaker 6 (01:19:00):
I mean, the at a certain point in the season,
you're going to see matchups that really benefit you if
you study the film, the box scores, and and you
look at the defenses these offenses are preparing for. I
think the Georgia defense is still finding itself obviously, the

(01:19:22):
Bors offense, that's what he's known for. That this this,
this is a good matchup for them in the passing game.
I like, I like Ryan Williams in this one. Yeah,
I'm not saying you're wrong. I like Jeremy Bernard.

Speaker 2 (01:19:36):
Yeah, I like both of these guys.

Speaker 5 (01:19:37):
Okay, yeah, yeah, he's been favorite. Come Monday, Ty Simpson
after Bama beats Georgia.

Speaker 3 (01:19:45):
Okay, on a on a you know, a personal note,
on a show note, if you will.

Speaker 4 (01:19:51):
His funny story.

Speaker 3 (01:19:52):
So I was talking to Chris Burfett, our trusted technical
technical producer a couple of minutes ago off the air,
and he's talking about his fantasy team and you know,
YadA YadA, and uh he's talking about a bet payoffs
from last year that was not paid off, right Burges
brind Bridges burned right there and and I was It's like,

(01:20:14):
I'm like, let me guess it was Mayo in coffee?

Speaker 2 (01:20:18):
Is that that would?

Speaker 3 (01:20:20):
No, I haven't been told yet what it was, but
my guess, dude to rich O over, I still waiting
for bets to be paid off here, rich.

Speaker 2 (01:20:28):
Oh, I still have to cash in on that. I
completely forgot about that. Oh no, you just you've ruined
my day.

Speaker 5 (01:20:38):
I heard the Mayo and Bob Illinois is much tastier though. Yeah,
there you go, much thicker, so much more egg, much
more pleasing.

Speaker 4 (01:20:48):
Oh no, experience in the Midwest.

Speaker 2 (01:20:51):
All right.

Speaker 4 (01:20:51):
Coming up next, we got one.

Speaker 3 (01:20:52):
Of the biggest games of the day. Can this guy
get the monkey off of his back?

Speaker 2 (01:20:58):
Big test?

Speaker 5 (01:20:59):
Did this today?

Speaker 2 (01:21:01):
Ah?

Speaker 3 (01:21:01):
Yes, welcome in Happy Saturday to you. We are one
hour away from kickoff. Of course, Notre Dame featured in
that early window, so technically we're one hour away from
Notre Dame kickoff. A lot of Arkansas love, a lot
of Arkansas love. Oh yeah, it might might be the
right side.

Speaker 2 (01:21:18):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:21:22):
We'll get to one of the biggest games of the
day and man, one head coach trying to get the
monkey off his back in a big time way. This
isn't just a game, It's a once in a generation event.
The Harlem Globetrotters one hundred Year Tour. Come be a
part of a legacy that never stops. Be there when
history is made. The Harlem Globetrotters one hundred Year Tour.

(01:21:42):
Get your tickets today at Harlem Globetrotters dot com. All Right,
Kirby smart Well, I think is the best head coach
in college football. He's facing Alabama. His record against the
Tide one and six since taking over as George's head coach.

Speaker 4 (01:21:58):
Now, a lot of that is.

Speaker 3 (01:21:59):
Against Nick Say but today at home, favored at home
against Kaylin Debor's Alabama squad. It's a gots to have
it moment here because you know as well as I do.
What's the streak up to thirty three straight home wins.

Speaker 5 (01:22:15):
Longest home winning streak in the country.

Speaker 3 (01:22:17):
If that ends because he lost Tobama again to fall
to one in seven against the Crimson Tide.

Speaker 4 (01:22:26):
I mean, everyone's gonna be like that. It's gonna be like.

Speaker 3 (01:22:29):
The small game James thing for Kirby Smart against Alabama specifically,
you know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (01:22:35):
That's what's on the line here is we.

Speaker 3 (01:22:37):
Always talk about you have more wiggle room for error
when it comes to the playoff, you don't have any
wiggle room for reputation. And this is a reputation game
for Georgia tonight, make no mistake about it.

Speaker 2 (01:22:50):
Oh yeah, oh yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:22:51):
I you know, Look, there's so much on the line
when certain teams face each other. This game obviously comes to.

Speaker 2 (01:22:59):
The top of the list.

Speaker 6 (01:23:02):
And frankly, it's it's really circling around the fact that
these are traditional SEC powers, but also there's so much overlap.
It's like when family members fight. You know, you know,
Kirby was off the Sabing coaching tree and you know,

(01:23:23):
now there's a new era at BAMA and everybody's trying.

Speaker 2 (01:23:27):
To get behind it.

Speaker 6 (01:23:28):
But with you know, kind of tepid slow roll optimism,
you got this opportunity for Caleen de Bor to have
truly one of those statement wins on his record he
desperately needs. Ye, Kirby Smart, I think, like you said,
just with the margin of era we're talking about.

Speaker 2 (01:23:49):
While it's not.

Speaker 6 (01:23:49):
As crucial to get these ws, I think this is
going to be a w for this Bulldogs team that
cements them firmly in the national conversation as one of
the teams that everybody's gonna have to deal with in
the postseason.

Speaker 2 (01:24:04):
It's it's gonna be a problem for the rest of you.
I agree with you.

Speaker 6 (01:24:08):
Reputations, legacies, you know, the it's not just a game
about Hey, what's the seeding gonna look like come the postseason?

Speaker 2 (01:24:19):
There's so much more to it.

Speaker 5 (01:24:22):
Which roster do you think is better?

Speaker 2 (01:24:24):
Guys?

Speaker 5 (01:24:25):
I agree Brian with your take about Kirby Smart being
if not the best one of in the country. But
which roster do we think is better?

Speaker 3 (01:24:33):
It's tough because top to bottom, you know, I go
Georgia here, Georgia Tech's this box, but man, their past
defense and their secondary yikes, right.

Speaker 4 (01:24:42):
So that's the thing.

Speaker 3 (01:24:44):
If you go top to bottom, I would probably say
Georgia has the better rockter.

Speaker 4 (01:24:49):
But it's close.

Speaker 3 (01:24:50):
I think you're going with Bama. I think you're on
Team Bama on that one.

Speaker 6 (01:24:53):
I here, here's where I love Bama, and I think
it's one of those things that it's gonna help them
win some ugly games in some tough spots. Alabama is
one of the best offenses at catching contested contested balls.
So I'm gonna get into the minutia, you know, like

(01:25:13):
when when I look at two teams that are physically
stature wise and then also talent profile wise so close,
I start to look at little factors that push them
over the edge. I love the way that this team
fights for and scraps for those opportunities. I have Bama
by the slimmest of margins.

Speaker 5 (01:25:34):
Yeah, I think. I think Georgia next year will have
the more talented roster. I think Georgia a lot of freshmen,
sophomore is a lot of underclassmen, a lot of projected talent.
I think Bama's actual talent, like we talk about this,
and like the projected stats, the expected goals. I think
Georgia's expected talent projects better next year. But I think

(01:25:57):
this year Alabama's roster is slightly better, especially defense. I
think that's really the key to this game, guys. I
think it's Alabama's defense getting back nose tackle Tim Keenan,
who will make his season debut today after the tightrope
surgery on his ankle. I don't know how healthy he is.
I'm just glad he's back. That is a big get
back for Bama. Why Georgia forget about Zachariah Branch and

(01:26:21):
all these great weapons they have on the outside, they're great.
Georgia wants to slam it down your throat. That's what
Georgia's offense is. They want to counter you, they want
to wide zone you, they want to slam it right
down the middle. You get Tim Keenan back at nose tackle.
Maybe that nullifies that a little bit. And I think
Bama's got the two best edge rushers in this game.

(01:26:44):
I honestly do, at least in terms of their pedigree.
Lt Overton, we've heard that name before. He will run
right through your face on the outside. They've got another guy,
Kway Russo, who you might not have heard of yet.
I think he's actually their best pure pass rusher. The
problem is Kane plays a lot of zone coverage and
sometimes he gets kind of drawn back into like this

(01:27:04):
weird hook curl defender spot. But when he rushes the
passer great bend, he can win right off the edge.
And I think that's where Bama can have an edge
in this game, is those two guys coming off the
edge and creating pressure on Gunner Stockton and Tim Keenan
being a freaking man child in the middle, because when
he is playing well at nose tackle, Bama is much

(01:27:28):
less counterable, if that makes sense. Yeah, and that's really
what Georgia wants to do. So I think that's where,
right we talked about the Penn State Oregon game where
we're gonna talk about offense and weapons and shiny toys
on the outside. But these games, typically, especially in the SEC,
are one at the line of scrimmage. Yeah, and I
think Bama's got just the slightest edge up front defensively

(01:27:49):
going up against this Georgia owe.

Speaker 2 (01:27:50):
Man.

Speaker 5 (01:27:51):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:27:51):
That's the funny thing when we talk about talent. I
was just thinking about that, is that I think a
lot of times we immediately go outside the trenches when
you say who has more talent, it's like, well, you know,
look at the wide receivers. Ryan Williams Jeremy Bernard, that's
pretty good right there. That's better than what Georgia has.
But maybe that Florida State game tainted me a little bit,

(01:28:12):
but I can't get that out of my head. Florida
State dominated Alabama in the trenches on both sides of
the ball, and that's just not gonna happen with Georgia.
You're not gonna just run the ball down Georgia's throat.
We could talk about their past defense all we want,
and it leaves a lot to be desired, but you
are not just lining up and saying here, it comes

(01:28:33):
to fastball and we're running it right down the middle,
and Georgia's like, we don't have an answer for that.
Georgia always has an answer for that, and Florida State
had no answers the crazy What blew my mind the
most was Alabama's offensive line.

Speaker 4 (01:28:47):
They didn't have jam.

Speaker 3 (01:28:48):
Miller in that game, but they could not run the
ball on Florida State at all, not even a little bit.
And I think Georgia in the trenches is just better.
I think they're better than al Obama. I know they
wouldn't get punked the way that Bama did in that
Florida State game. They is not gonna happen with Georgia.

Speaker 6 (01:29:06):
I look at Georgia as having can such a step
back from their national championship winning teams, especially defensively.

Speaker 2 (01:29:15):
Now, I do.

Speaker 6 (01:29:17):
Agree with what Jared said about the potential talent on
this roster. I think that they're going to be secured
for years to come. However, I okay, So from a
secondary standpoint, they let up explosives against the likes of
Austin p Like. I mean, it wasn't just the potent
Tennessee volunteers offense who they struggled with in the defensive

(01:29:40):
secondary when they were into their cupcake schedule. They were
struggling with some of their secondary issues. They have three corners,
all of them don't stand a chance of covering the
likes of Ryan Williams on the outside, or really any
of the receivers the Crimson Tide has to offer.

Speaker 2 (01:29:56):
They cerate no pass rush.

Speaker 6 (01:29:59):
Passive iciency against Georgia is as high as we've seen
in years a decade. I mean, you know, name it,
you know. But that's spotlighting Georgia's problems. Alabama's got problems too.
Here's where I kind of handicap this game. I'm having
a hard time with the spread or aside. I like,

(01:30:23):
that's why the over is in play for me, because
I look at Alabama's defense and I see problems too.
I look at both of these teams offenses. I'm more
of a believer of what they do on that side
of the ball, and so I don't know, I like
a lot of points. I don't know who's gonna score.

Speaker 2 (01:30:41):
All of them.

Speaker 6 (01:30:42):
I don't know who who's gonna score the most of them.
But I like a whole lot of points in this game.

Speaker 5 (01:30:47):
I've got an obsession with handicapping offensive lines these days.
I think it's because Rich has rubbed off on me
a little bit. I really like both offensive lines in
this game. I do. I think I like Bama's a
little more from a scheme perspective. I like Georgia's a
little more from just a brute force perspective. I'll direct

(01:31:08):
you to the center for Alabama. Parker Brailsford might probably
the best center in the country. Yeah, very few centers
are reaching three techs like being able to get around
a three technique and move them so where you can
run the ball outside of them. That is hard to do,
and he is getting up there and just really doing
good stuff at the center position. The left tackle Kaden Proctor,

(01:31:28):
good footwork, a little overweight, he's listed at six seven,
three sixty Yeah, I think he plays closer to three seventy.

Speaker 2 (01:31:35):
He's a big boy.

Speaker 5 (01:31:36):
Yeah, that's a big boy. And I think if he
dropped down or fifteen pounds he'd be much more mobile, agile, hostile.
But he is again a big body that is protecting
the blind side for Ty Simpson and Brian. You said
the magic word when we started this segment, Jan Miller,
who apparently from what I've read, is practicing like a
man possessed this week, who is going to return and

(01:31:59):
provide a little bit of punch on offense. I think
it really does come down to can Kirby smart figure
out a way to make Kayln de Bor's play calling uncomfortable.
That's the one thing I've noticed over the last couple
of weeks is Kaylen de Bor looks very comfortable calling plays.
This offense looks very much like twenty twenty three Washington
and last year he was kind of handed Jalen Milroe

(01:32:22):
and didn't really know what to do with it. It's like
when you know the old guy gets given a sports
car but he doesn't really like to drive fast. What
do I do here? Do I just leave it in
the garage? Do I take it out for a spin
and go drive to the supermarket? Like I don't know
what to do with this Maserati. Now you've got someone
who is a little more in tune to the style
of offense you want to run with Ty Simpson. I
think it comes down to two things. Can can Georgia

(01:32:45):
create explosives on the outside and force Bama to back
off the line of scrimmage. I think key on sob
strong safety, free safety, Bray Hulpard, keep an eye on
number eighteen for Bama. I don't know what color uniform
they're wearing, but whatever color Bama is in tonight, watch
out for number eighteen. He is like a bat out
of hell. You're gonna see number eighteen fly into the
picture and stuff the run on multiple occasions in this game.

(01:33:08):
I love the way Bray Hubbard plays. He is angry
and he will go right through your screws. So I
think Bama has some dudes in the back that can
figure out this Georgia offense. It's all about Keenan, the
nose tackle and that pass rush. Can they stop the
Georgia base running scheme and allow that zone defense?

Speaker 9 (01:33:26):
Right?

Speaker 5 (01:33:26):
We talk a lot about Kane Wamack. He's mixing up
his coverages really well. You see a lot of cover two.
Can they keep those bodies in the back and not
have to commit the extra man in the box to
stop the run. I think that, to me is the
game within the game for Bama's defense against the Georgia offense.

Speaker 4 (01:33:41):
Tonight, man in the box. Great song, great.

Speaker 5 (01:33:45):
Song, that's a something out of your heavy metal.

Speaker 4 (01:33:51):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, there you go.

Speaker 3 (01:33:53):
You know a couple of things here. One, this Bama
running game. You know, you get jam Miller back most
likely and that could help.

Speaker 4 (01:34:01):
But man, you think about.

Speaker 3 (01:34:03):
Against Wisconsin, Bama running backs carried fifteen times for forty
five yards. Yeah, and that's what the passing game. Doing
everything they wanted against Wisconsin, Ty Simpson was fantastic that game.
Still nothing with the running game. The Dogs their tenth
in rushing success rate allowed. They're really good against the rush.
Bama can't run it. Bama couldn't run against Florida State.

(01:34:25):
I'd be surprised if they have a really good running
game tonight, I'd be shocked if they did. And another
thing is we go back. We're talking about the Penn
State atmosphere, and certainly it is one, but man going
into Sanford Stadium and winning a game like they haven't.
They haven't lost in thirty three straight. Like, I don't

(01:34:45):
think that can just be overlooked. And I'm not saying
you guys or anyone is overlooking that. I just think
to really think about.

Speaker 4 (01:34:52):
I don't know why.

Speaker 3 (01:34:53):
It's funny how sometimes these I guess Georgia's pass defense.
We saw them against Tennessee and we're like, whoa, yikes,
We're I used to seeing this at all, And all
of a sudden, Kaylin de Bors Alabama team that we
were clowning in week one, now all of a sudden,
it's like, hey, man, look out for the Tide.

Speaker 4 (01:35:10):
I'm like, okay, I'm looking out for him.

Speaker 3 (01:35:13):
You know, Gunner Stockton was magnificent against Tennessee, and I
know Ty Simpsons looked really good the last couple of
games against nobody, but even against Georgia's secondary, that's that's
a step up in weight class compared to who he's
played the last two weeks in you know, Louisiana Monroe
in Wisconsin. So I don't know, man, I think there

(01:35:33):
are a lot of reasons to like Georgia as well,
but we'll see Bama's very talented as well. I just
think it's funny that Debor and Bama all of a sudden,
it's like we've forgotten everything that we thought a couple
of weeks ago about them. Yeah, that's what happens in football.

Speaker 2 (01:35:46):
Sometimes.

Speaker 6 (01:35:46):
It's like the I think I know, I think I
know what I think I know conversation. When you first
see a team and then when you start looking at
the film you see them against other competition, you start
thinking about, you know, the talent they have. Look, there
are problems. Alabama's pass rush stinks. Getting Keenan back on
that defensive line inarguably the best piece to their twenty

(01:36:10):
twenty four defensive line coming back the seniors going to
help them four to five things up front.

Speaker 2 (01:36:14):
But their pass rush stinks.

Speaker 6 (01:36:17):
On offense, though, if you look at what ty Simpson
has done and you take out some of the problems
they had with their receivers against Florida State, which is
hard to do. I know, that because we're not operating
in a perfect world in a vacuum.

Speaker 2 (01:36:32):
But there were four drops against the Seminoles.

Speaker 6 (01:36:36):
Ty Simpson's corrected completion percentage when you take away drops
from his receiver is eighty two percent on the season,
and he has yet to throw a turnover worthy ball.
I mean, he's careful with the football and he's effective
with the football. So yeah, I agree with what you're saying, Brian, Like,
this is the same team we were talking about after

(01:36:58):
Game one, thinking like.

Speaker 2 (01:37:00):
Bama, who But you know Bama. I mean it's Bama.
I know they're still doing Bama things.

Speaker 6 (01:37:08):
And then that offensive line, good jams back, they create
a lot of air in the run game.

Speaker 2 (01:37:12):
That's only gonna help Ty Simpson in this one. So
they're a real threat. They are a real.

Speaker 5 (01:37:18):
Threat, massive threat. We're gonna, honestly, here's my hot take
of the day. We're gonna it's not even a hot take,
here's my crazy take of the day. We're gonna look
back on the twenty twenty five college football season and
we're gonna say, how the heck did Florida State beat
Bama by two scores?

Speaker 2 (01:37:33):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:37:33):
Because and listen, Week one can be weird. It was
a rainstorm, they had a delay.

Speaker 2 (01:37:39):
You gave the.

Speaker 5 (01:37:40):
Gus bus six months to prepare for Bama's defense, and
as Rich mentioned, there were some drop seas oopsies in
that game. I think when we look back on this season,
we're gonna be like, Wow, Bama's really good. How did
they lose to Florida State by two scores? Here is
the plus for what Georgia can do. I think to
kind of negate some of this Bama momentum. Wisconsin. They're

(01:38:04):
not a great offense. They're okay on defense, not a
great offense. When I watched the film from the Bama
game a couple weeks ago, and we gave you Bama
in that game, by the way, I saw one thing
I really liked that. I think Georgia can take advantage of,
especially at home. Wisconsin really challenged Bama with tempo and
the one thing about the Cane Womack defense, it's a
lot of shifting, it's a lot of movement, it's a

(01:38:24):
lot of schematics. I noticed multiple plays where Bama was
like looking to the line of scrimmage as the ball
is being snacked because Wisconsin is challenging them with tempo.
If you don't think if I'm noticing that twelve year
old coach Jared Smith, don't you think Kirby Smart and
his coaching staff has figured that out as well. I
think you're gonna see a lot of tempo in this game.

(01:38:45):
And I think that's going to challenge Bama defensively, and
that's where the explosives and the whoopsie daisy's in the
back end can happen. So keep an eye on that tonight,
keep an eye on how quickly Bama can get up
to the line of scrimmage and get their signals called,
and if Georgia can challenge them with tempo.

Speaker 4 (01:39:03):
Yeah, we were not that far removed from remember.

Speaker 2 (01:39:06):
That, lady.

Speaker 3 (01:39:07):
That's like I'd use my power ball to get rid
of the boor, like I'd use all seventy million to
get rid of that bum, you know. And now it's like, well, yeah, Kirby,
he struggles with Bama.

Speaker 4 (01:39:17):
It's like, well, Kaylin de Bor struggles with a lot, right.

Speaker 5 (01:39:21):
Isn't a market telling you something that I thought? Like, Georgia,
you get three points, you're being at home, right, the
line's two and a half.

Speaker 2 (01:39:28):
Don't get a take over there?

Speaker 5 (01:39:30):
You go there you go.

Speaker 4 (01:39:33):
Hey, listen, I hear you, rich So I hear you.
It's like yeah, side eh total.

Speaker 3 (01:39:38):
Maybe the total is the way we look here, but yeah, man,
we'll see all the proof will be laid out tonight.

Speaker 4 (01:39:44):
It's uh. And I was at the National Championship Game.

Speaker 3 (01:39:48):
I was there when when Kirby Smart and Georgia beat
Alabama to win it all. So it hasn't all been
dooming gloom, right. Like we talk about the six losses,
there's one very important win in and that was in
the Nick saban era.

Speaker 4 (01:40:02):
So I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:40:03):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:40:04):
We'll find out tonight. We've got rich oron Berger, Penn
State All American Jared Smith FSR betting analyst.

Speaker 4 (01:40:10):
I'm Brian No.

buying should be. All right, we move it ahead to
LSU at Old Miss. It's your three thirty, you know,
mid afternoon Eastern time window there. And how about this
a little side story to this one.

Speaker 2 (01:42:13):
This is great.

Speaker 3 (01:42:13):
This is like college football defined. So Lane Kiffin's daughter Landry, Yeah,
she is dating the LSU star linebacker with weeks. So
like Lane Kiffin, Ole Miss head coach, his daughter is
dating the star linebacker at LSU who they're playing today.

(01:42:34):
So they hard launched their relationship. I don't know what
what that's like, what is the backstory there? Well, the
daughter is like, yeah, this is the week to hard
launch this, like we got it thirty for thirty in
the works over here with just that. But man, that
is a little subplot that is is pretty fun peak
college football right there.

Speaker 2 (01:42:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:42:53):
I look, I mean, like father, like daughter, let's let's
be very honest with each other.

Speaker 2 (01:42:59):
I think when you.

Speaker 6 (01:43:01):
Are raised in a household with certain influential characters, you're
going to you're just going to naturally by mere emission
you're going to catch some of that, And there's no
doubt in my mind. I don't know Landry. I barely
know Lane. I've spoken to him, I think twice in

(01:43:21):
my life. But I think by virtue of living together,
she's caught of some of what Lane has been guilty
of for a long time, which is understanding the moment
to strike and whether this was just a friendly family
troll or you know, or this is something that has

(01:43:45):
been you know, I don't know, incubating for a while.
To me, it's funny first and foremost. And I think
Lane Kiffen, if we know anything about him, he does
have a sense of humor, and so I think this
has created, like you said, a fun subplot to really
when we were talking about the Alabama game and the

(01:44:05):
Georgia game and legacy and statement wins like Ole miss
needs this win, they need this win.

Speaker 2 (01:44:12):
Lank Kiffen needs this win. I mean he needs it
like blood.

Speaker 6 (01:44:16):
He he he quote tweeted his daughter Landry's picture and
he wrote, take the over.

Speaker 5 (01:44:28):
The underhit gets rigged.

Speaker 2 (01:44:31):
It's rigged, rigg.

Speaker 6 (01:44:32):
I mean it just feels like it just feels like
to you know, to to the point that you're making
This has become almost more than just about the game,
but the game itself is so important.

Speaker 2 (01:44:45):
Lank Kiffen needs this win. It's a legitimacy win.

Speaker 6 (01:44:49):
If he topples LSU here and they advance and they
will into a top ten team this season, it means
that this program that he's taken over has arrived and
they're going to be I mean, they are about it.
Then the rest of the country, well, they'll have to
know that they got to be about it when you
play against the rebels, and that's what he wants. He

(01:45:10):
wants it so bad. We'll get into the x's and
o's here, but that's sort of the the overarching theme
in my mind of this one.

Speaker 5 (01:45:19):
Yeah, some thirty mind games at play here, But the
question is which side right right? Like is it is
it Lane's you know, master plan, like hey, hey, Landry, hey,
let's get let's get you to hard launch this relationship
this week? So wit Weeks, who's like one of the
best linebackers in the country, spends less time focusing on
playing linebacker and more time on being a new boyfriend.

(01:45:42):
Or is it the other side? Is it wit Weeks
trying to screw with Lane's head because I mean, I
don't have daughters, rich you do, like, you know, if
you're dating someone's daughter like that, I think would be
a relationship that you should keep an eye on. So
it's weird. I don't know where the mind games are going.
I'm not trying to break down the romantic life of
two college kids. Good luck with that. I will tell

(01:46:03):
you that Trinidad Chamblis from Farris State University looks freaking amazing. Yeah,
another four hundred yard game last week against Tulane, who's
a really good group of five program, And I like
Tulane in that spot because of the look ahead angle
with ole Miss worrying about this LSU spot. But Chambliss
was dangerous and he looks really good with the football.

(01:46:25):
I think the offensive line, though again it just goes back.
It's always the offensive line Ole Miss. So when I
watch ole Miss on tape, I'm like, man, this offensive
line stinks. Ole Miss's offensive numbers must be really bad.
They're really good. And that's because Lane Kiffin's probably the
most gifted play caller in the country, So he can
make a bad offensive line not really that bad based

(01:46:47):
off the stats and the numbers and the output that
ole missus is scoring because Lane can kind of scheme
it up. LSU's offensive lines also really struggle to protect Nelsemeyer. Right,
you saw Florida really handle this LSU offense a couple
weeks ago when what was a much tighter game than
a lot of people expected. If you take away those
five interceptions in the pick six from Lagway, I mean,

(01:47:09):
who knows Florida might have won that game. Ole miss
has two elite receivers here, and I think that's the key.
Caden Lee Duce, Alexander the wait Transfer. These guys are
elite route runners. They're kind of an extension of the
run game. They'll just throw it out to them in
the flats and in space and then they'll kind of
do their thing. And that's kind of another way to
avoid a bad offensive line. Right, if our offensive line stinks,
we can't run it down your throat, let's just throw

(01:47:30):
it wide to these guys and let them do their thing.
Ole Miss doesn't get after you too much with the
pass rush. Like this could be the shootout of the day,
This could be the fifty two to forty five game.
We've seen these teams play some wild games before. I
feel like Ole misses the right side because of how
well their offense plays at home. But Brian Kelly silenced

(01:47:50):
a lot of critics this year with some of those
games and some of the wins that maybe last year,
in the years past, he would have lost. So really
interesting just match I think in this one, guys.

Speaker 4 (01:47:58):
Yeah, I like the matchup in you can we see
more offense?

Speaker 5 (01:48:01):
Can we?

Speaker 4 (01:48:02):
Can we see a little bit more offense?

Speaker 9 (01:48:03):
Now?

Speaker 3 (01:48:03):
Their running game has been freaking brutal, and Caden Durham,
their running back, is considered doubtful, so you might not
have Durham in this one. LSU's offensive line hasn't been good.
Garrett Nussmeyer, the quarterback who we thought highly of heading
into this year, his numbers are just like what is
he doing right now? He doesn't take many chances. It's
a dink and dunk offense with no running game. So

(01:48:26):
Ole miss there are holes to exploit on that defensive
end for them. But can LSU do it right because
we haven't seen this offense even come close to breaking out.
And then on the other side, you know LSU their
defense is fantastic. They allow fewer than ten points per game.
Ole Mis scores nearly forty five points per game, so
when ole Miss has the ball, that's gonna be a great,

(01:48:46):
great matchup as well. All right, guys, let's go no
huddle previews here real fast. We'll go as quickly as
we can with numerous games. I you at Iowa, Indiana
money is pouring in. They're eight and a half point favorites.
It's gonna have to be real ugly for Iowa to hang.
But what do you think real fast about Indiana? I
think their defense is overlooked quite a bit.

Speaker 4 (01:49:08):
You know I do too.

Speaker 6 (01:49:10):
I think I will Really they couldn't even I was
talking about this earlier. They couldn't even really sustain drives
against Rutgers, So how the hell are they going to
stand in there with Indiana and that defense which doesn't
get any love because meanwhile, back at the farm, their
offense is great. But yeah, I feel like Indiana is
going to pile up some points against Iowa. I'm all

(01:49:32):
over Indiana and if I was scores the overs in play,
I'm not saying they're getting shut out, but.

Speaker 2 (01:49:40):
It's not going to be a good day for Iowa.

Speaker 5 (01:49:43):
This is a game that if Signetti's the real deal,
and this Indiana team is for real. They hammer Iowa.
But I don't know yet. I don't know yet because
I was really down on Illinois and karmas a you
know what, and I thought they really ran that one
up last week. Yeah, and listen, weird things riche you
know this. I know this. Weird things happen in Iowa City.
Weird stuff happens in Iowa City for Big ten teams

(01:50:06):
that are expected to win. Go ask that two thousand
and eight Pence eight team with Daryl Clark.

Speaker 3 (01:50:10):
By the way, how about this last week? The IU
quarterback Fernando Mendoza five touchdown passes against Illinois, two win completions.

Speaker 5 (01:50:19):
Don't bet him to win the Heisman. Guys. It's a
fun story, but he's not winning the Hide.

Speaker 3 (01:50:24):
You're right, I mean that what a performance? Yes, awesome,
Liah and I good lord.

Speaker 5 (01:50:29):
They're gonna go to Oregon and Penn State and get
hammered in a few weeks.

Speaker 3 (01:50:31):
Yeah, we've got Notre Dame at Arkansas. Notre Dame a
four and a half point road favorite. Right now, totals
at sixty four and a half. You guys have to
say something nice about Notre Dame. I've hardly heard anything
nice about Notre Dame all week. You guys have contractually
not not backhanded, like something legitimately nice about the Irish here.

Speaker 2 (01:50:50):
I love their run game, Yeah, I really do. I
love love, I love love, and I really.

Speaker 6 (01:50:57):
Think I really think they'll honestly do enough offensively to
win this game.

Speaker 2 (01:51:03):
It's their defense.

Speaker 6 (01:51:04):
Can their defense do enough to slow down Tailing Green?
Arkansas has got a potent offense. It's built around their
dual threat quarterback. I got to watch him in person
last season. He's a super talented guy. He's only getting better,
only becoming more confident expect points. I'm doing the rain
dance here. I know I've been talking about overs all
day long, but I really do think this could be

(01:51:26):
a high scoring affair for the Irish and the Razorbacks.

Speaker 5 (01:51:30):
All right, here's something nice. So Notre Dame is so
I go to Whole Foods every Tuesday because they discount
their their bread, and Notre Dame is the discounted bread
right now. You don't know one hundred percent sure if
it's fresh and delicious, but it's on sale. Because this
line was twelve and a half over the summer and
now it's four. Ok you're getting a discount on the

(01:51:52):
sour dough at Horfoods today when you're batting Notre game.

Speaker 4 (01:51:58):
Is this a complimentary?

Speaker 5 (01:52:00):
I don't know. I tried my best.

Speaker 4 (01:52:02):
I tried, I really Okay.

Speaker 2 (01:52:04):
Notre Dame is crusty bread. It's like Irish soda bread.

Speaker 5 (01:52:08):
It still tastes good. I've eaten it almost every week.
You get two for one half lobs at Whole Foods
here in Summerland. It's a delicious deal. And Whole Foods
is still solid quality. I think that's quality ingredients, but
it's a little older, well counted.

Speaker 4 (01:52:23):
Yeah, okay, all right, that's the compliment for the Irish.
That's the best we could come.

Speaker 5 (01:52:27):
Get them on sale this week.

Speaker 3 (01:52:28):
All right, all right, let's work one more in here.
We got Tennessee at Mississippi State. You mentioned the cow
bell over there, Jared. You know Mississippi State, the Bulldogs.
They took down Arizona State earlier this year. Can they
do it again against ut Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:52:44):
Tennessee. That is a potent offense.

Speaker 6 (01:52:47):
That is, that is a group that can really play
on that side of the ball.

Speaker 2 (01:52:51):
Again.

Speaker 6 (01:52:51):
Another game, I feel like I'm banging the drum. But
another game where the defense is going to be kind
of left on the sideline and it's gonna be like
a seven on seven passing scrim It's it's really it's
really going to be who's who's got the ball last
in this game. That's that's what it feels like, Dogs Valls,

(01:53:15):
Whoever has the final possession is gonna win this one.

Speaker 5 (01:53:19):
Chaos versus cow Bell. I love this game. I love
this game. Valls run the third fastest temple in the country.
They run a play every twenty seconds. If you go,
if you blink, you missed it. And how about this
Mississippi State. If you bet the over on their win
total before the season started, you already won. It was
three and a half. They're four. And oh how about that?

(01:53:40):
How about that the whole season? You don't have to
worry about it anymore. Yet, It's awesome. This is so
Here's why I love this game. The coaching staffs are
very familiar with each other. Jeff Levy was the quarterback
coach under Hypel at UCF, and he was also the
OC for a year. I love when it's like the
game within the game with the coaching staffs. I always
think that's fascinating. Joey Aguilar has been great first road

(01:54:02):
start though in the SEC, so we'll keep an eye
on that. And Blake Shapin's been really good also for
Mississippi State. This has under the radar upset potential. If
you're not doing anything in this afternoon window, keep an
eye on Stark Vegas because Tennessee might be upset prone.

Speaker 3 (01:54:20):
That's an interesting one right there, because some of me
is like, were they that off on Mississippi State before
the season?

Speaker 5 (01:54:28):
Aye?

Speaker 3 (01:54:29):
Do you just box up all this info and just
you know, light it on fire when it comes to
the Bulldogs with what was expected and what has occurred
so far, are you like there's some shred of truth
to maybe it shows up tonight and they don't hang
with Tennessee right or else they were completely wrong and
before the season started as possible as well. All right,

(01:54:51):
we've got rich oron Berger Penn State, All American, Jared
Smith FSR, betting analyst.

Speaker 4 (01:54:56):
I'm Brian. No, this isn't just a game. It's a
once in a generation of event.

I think how about that.

Speaker 4 (01:55:28):

All right, we got some picks to make. Let's do it.

Speaker 2 (01:56:07):
Rapid Fire.

Speaker 4 (01:56:09):
By the way, I'm a mom. I didn't even give
a shout out to the crew. What am I doing?
Shout out to Pope Benson, the.

Speaker 3 (01:56:14):
Dodger Zone pod technical producer extraordinary Chris Burffett.

Speaker 4 (01:56:19):
Shout out to our.

Speaker 2 (01:56:19):
You know what it is? You know what it is
since you brought in me.

Speaker 3 (01:56:23):
I think I just lost track of time and I
didn't play I serious usually serious here, and that's probably
what threw you off.

Speaker 1 (01:56:29):
That's on me.

Speaker 3 (01:56:31):
Shout out to our guys, Sauger as well posting our
clips on social media. Give Fox Sports Radio a follow
on X Top of the Hour, LeVar Arrington, DJ Hushman's
out Flexico Burst. They've got you covered up on game
keep it locked right here on Fox Sports Radio. All right,
now we can get into rapid fire, Jared, what do
you like, Buddy.

Speaker 5 (01:56:48):
Let's start with the appetizer. I'll take cal plus six
at Boston College. That cal was a big disappointment last week.
Bounce back game now for the Golden Bears. They were
bit by the turnover bug against Rich's Aztecs. They opened
the game by driving seventy five yards and then failed
on fourth and goal at the two yard line. Songa
Pateelly or ssues me soa polo Telly? I want to
get his name right. Jaron keave songa polo, Telly Jks

(01:57:12):
two picks in the first half. I think he bounces back.
They played better this week against the VC defense that
allowed seventy two combined points the last weeks against Michigan
State and Stanford Wolf. So I'll take Colt plus six.
We like Colt much better in the dog role than
the favorite role. And now the main event, I'll take
Bama plus two and a half at Georgia. This is
Ties time, Simpson. I think the more talented quarterback. I

(01:57:33):
think the Tied are better on defense. We've mentioned Kirby
Smart one and six in his career against Bama. The
Dogs go down between the hedges, snapping that nation's longest
losing streak. But I'll take the longest winning streak. But
I'll take the two and a half points in my
back pocket. And of course, come on, guys, you think
I'm not laying three and a half at Pen State tonight.
James Franklin two and seventeen against top ten teams at

(01:57:54):
Penn State. But here's the context that they don't tell you.
He was an underdog in all nineteen of those games,
including the two wins. This is the first time James
Franklin has ever been favored against a top ten team,
and I think there's a reason why his rosters better.
Defenn State has an edge in the trenches, and as
long as Drowaler avoids TSS tight Spiner syndrome I defense,
they gets a big win tonight at home against Organ.

Speaker 6 (01:58:16):
I've been broadcasting live from a bedroom here in Naperville, Illinois.
It happens to be a Marriott, and on the station area,
I've written the word over. I've been doing the rain
dance here in Naperville before I make the short trip
over to Dekab, Illinois to call the Northern Illinois game
here and the team names that are rode on here.

Speaker 2 (01:58:38):
Mississippi State Tennessee sixty two and a half. Give me
the over.

Speaker 6 (01:58:42):
There's not gonna be a lot of defense. Both high
powered offenses. I would take that number if we were
higher Indiana, Iowa, Iowa my name only plays good defense,
not this season.

Speaker 2 (01:58:54):
Indiana is really really high powered offense.

Speaker 6 (01:58:57):
If Iowa scores any points whatsoever, forty seven and a
half will cover. I'm taking the over. Penn State Oregon
couldn't choose a side I'm gutted. I can't choose the side.
I won't choose a side the spread. It's not my
play today, but I will choose the over again.

Speaker 2 (01:59:15):
I think there's gonna.

Speaker 6 (01:59:16):
Be points all across America today, but especially at Beaver Stadium.

Speaker 2 (01:59:20):
Fifty two and a half. I think it's an easy over.

Speaker 6 (01:59:22):
I think both offenses are good enough to score against
both defenses.

Speaker 2 (01:59:27):
That's where I'm at with our rapid fire today.

Speaker 3 (01:59:29):
Okay, I'm gonna start off with the Tide. Give me
Jeremy Bernard over fifty seven and a half receiving yards.
That dogs defense the past defense not good, not good.
I like what I'm seeing from Ty Simpson. He's been,
he's been, you know, steadily targeting Bernard. So I like
over fifty seven and a half receiving yards. Give me

(01:59:49):
a first half line, give me the a lion I
to bounce back plus three and a half first half
against USC It's a weird body clock, early start time
for sc We've got pride, we've got the power of
embarrassment for the Ali and I getting just shell ACKed
last week against Indiana. I like him in the first half,
and then for my final act, I will fade both

(02:00:12):
of you. I want to fade both at the same time,
but I can't. I'm gonna go with give me Oregon
Penn State under ten and a half in the first quarter.

Speaker 2 (02:00:20):
Oh, it's the.

Speaker 4 (02:00:22):
Batting cages philosophy.

Speaker 3 (02:00:24):
You ever go to the batting cages and put it
on like seventy miles per hour and you're like, I
can pump it up to ninety, and you're like, holy cow,
it takes a little bit to adjust. I think that's
what's gonna happen with these offenses, adjusting to the defenses.

Speaker 4 (02:00:37):
I like the first quarter under
