Well, because it's funny that the word of the day
is nauseating, it is naseat. If I am an LSU
Tigers fan, I I know I'm sitting fourth in the
nation right now. One loss and I get it, as
we did on the on the maiden voyage of the
Moncia Martin Show. One loft does not eliminate you from
the college football playoffs.

The one one the biggest win in LSU season thus
far through five games.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
Clemson. Yikes.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Yikes, Okay, so just yikes flatly there.

I like that. So you have a team high expectations,
first round slated quarterback and Garrett Nusmeyer.

And here's the trick in college football.

As we're sitting here watching Oregon and Penn State play,
if you have a pretty good quarterback, you'll probably be
breaked pretty high. If you have a pretty good quarterback,
you're probably gonna have a pretty good shot at winning
a lot of these games.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
So LSU highly.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Favored in a lot of these games at all, a
team that had a ton of expectations going into the season. Now,
I don't think USC quite had the same level of expectation.

Speaker 4 (02:33):
I would say they did not, But.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Through the first four games watching their season play, I'm
all those I've seen national people in national way more
make way more money than me to talk about this stuff,
talk about how this is the best offensive and defensive
lunches to Pete Carroll Era, Oh you know what, Lincoln
Riley actually, actually, Jaden Mayava is a better fit than

(03:00):
the first overall picking Heisman Trophy finalists and winter Caleb Williams. Right,
Biava is a better fit. They can run the ball now.
They can run the ball now. And then they come
to Illinois, a team that lost by fifty literally fifty points.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
To a team that today beat IOWAO by.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
Five, and they got ran over, ran left, ran right,
and ran through.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
And the fact that it was a game walk off.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
Field goal doesn't help masks the ass whooping that USC
caught in the Midwest today.

So mant said, I ask you because again today none.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Of these teams flatley eliminated from the college football Playoff.
But let's learn our lesson from the first week that
we did this right. Clemson was not eliminated from the
College Football Playoff. But if you watch that team play,
you say, ain't no way, Ain't that, ain't no play,
Ain't no way in hell. And I'm not saying that
this far for either one of these teams, but I

think that both fan bases have feelings in their guts
that they don't feel good about MONSI who's got it worse?

Speaker 4 (04:13):
I have to say, I really do think the Tigers
have it worse. You set it up, and I agree
with you that it being a walk off field goal
the way the Trojans lost, you do kind of mask
the ass kicking that took place during the game. But
I did also see USC move the ball and put
themselves in a position where they could have pulled it off.
I did see them do that. When I was watching LSU.

(04:36):
I saw their defense turn over the ball and give
the ball back to their offense, and their offense could
do nothing, No smart could do nothing. It was not
pretty to watch. There were moments, at least if you're watching,
I'm sure and our producer there were moments where you
were like that. At least that drive made me feel good.
At least here we are at the end of the
game and we are in it at no point, even
though the score for that LSU game is so close.

(04:58):
At no points, I think ellis you had a legitimate
chance to win that game. The way they could not
move the ball.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Yeah, I would say I thought that a shot in
the game. Now, I will say this. I turned to
Ian in the middle of the third quarter and said,
I think LSU's gonna lose this game. I would say,
just in the nature of watching SEC football, you know,
you used to like you know, tip balls, interceptions, all
types of kick sixes, all types of crazy, drunk type

of stuff happens on your average Saturday afternoon. So the
fact that it was a one score game for like
in the late in the fourth quarter made me worried, like,
there's no.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
Way unless she's gonna get away with this, right, you
know what I'm.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Saying, Like, there's much the same way that when USC
took the lead in the fourth quarter, I said there's
no way, there's no US gonna get away with it.

Speaker 4 (05:46):
But you were saying there's no way because they were
doing it with LSU you were just like, there's no
way because your defense is somehow keeping you in this game.
It was different why you felt there's no way. With LS,
you were like, there's no way, there's there's no way
because how bad you looked.

Speaker 5 (06:00):
The thing with USC was they they had the ball
and I think it was under two minutes left. They
were driving and they were in the red zone, and
it was the fact that they took a shot to
the end zone, which mackay Lemon, their superstar receiver. He's incredible.
He caught it second touchdown of the day. But it
left you know, over a minute and like I think
it was like a minute forty nine seconds still left

on the clock. So it's just there's all these poor
coaching decisions football.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
I hear you. I get it, Okay, I get you
said take some time off the clock, and especially in
the game in which it ends with Zeros as the
ball as the scoring point, I mean as the winning
points of being.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
Scored the clock says zero.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
But some of it is just sack up and play ball. Yeah, okay,
Like like I'm not coming at you, I'm coming at
the concept of just we're.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
Just coming out, not at you directly. We're just keeping me.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
There's a minute and forty five seconds left. They have
how many timeouts? Two timeouts or three timeouts?

Speaker 3 (06:56):
Make a stop?

Speaker 5 (06:57):
Yeah, the defense looked absolutely terrible, but I'm I'm saying,
from Lincoln Riley's perspective, you need to see that your
defense is getting absolutely manhandled all day and take a
little more priority to bleed more time off the clock
so that they aren't left with almost two minutes on
the clock.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
This is why I say, this is why Monci I
say that I think I would rather be an LSU
fan today. This is why I said, if I had
to pick between being a Trojan fan and a Tiger fan,
I'm picking LSU because.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
I still got all types of offensive talent, right.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
I got off like there would be guys off this
offense that will be drafted in the first three rounds
of the NFL, including the quarterback.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
Right now, which is crazy.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
But you know what I'm saying, But I got guys
on the offensive side of the ball. We can maybe
put that together. That defense is a lot harder to
me to piece together. And the thing that I've seen throughout,
however many years, has been of Lincoln at USC. What
but six seven years the Lincoln at USC, It's there
is never going to be a defense like this is

supposed to be the defense. This is supposed to be
the year that they've turned over the offensive and defensive lines.
This is supposed to be the year that they went
from taking the California kids drinking green Jews to the
Midwest the steak of potatoes, right, this is supposed to
be the year that that happens. And to go in
and to see against an Illinois team which big up

front but again got we sat here and watched them
get mercy ruled right past the sticks.

Speaker 5 (08:24):
I will say that's part of it. Indiana, that's part
of it too. Though you think they don't come out
with obviously no excuses made for USC here, But I
think that's more of an indicte like I mean, that's
the wrong word. I think it's more they deserve more
grace because their opponent just got blown out by that much.
Their opponent is not like Illinois is not as bad
as they showed they were against Indiana.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
I'm not saying that Illinois is as bad as they
were against it, but that's the point.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
Going to come out with their hair on.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
Offense is nowhere near as good as what we saw today.

Speaker 5 (08:54):
Yeah. Yeah, that's all we've been saying is the USC
defense looked terrible.

So it but it's all it's always the defense.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
Yeah, Brian Kelly had a Heisman Trophy winner at quarterback.
At least at that time the defense was bad. At
least this defense is good. Right Daydon Daniels couldn't They
couldn't get a stop. Who was winning against fifty five
to forty nine?

Speaker 3 (09:15):
Right? You can't get a stop? Now you can get it.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
I least we are improving somewhere along the line. I
got an NFL level quarterback at USC.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
What is the change?

Speaker 4 (09:24):
I mean, that's a fair question. But even even with
everything you just said, ellis to watch your team not
be able to get in any offensive rhythm. If you
have to face a team like Oregon, what are you
gonna do? Or you're gonna Okay, they're gonna score twenty two,
but what are you gonna score six?

Speaker 3 (09:43):
I hear you.

Speaker 4 (09:44):
It looks so bad.

Speaker 5 (09:46):
It's it's painful when your offense can't do.

Speaker 4 (09:49):
It and not and especially with your the defense took
fifty snaps in the first half, Like you've got to
help your defense out, and I don't. I thought maybe
the second half they could an interception, they get a fumble,
they do all of that, and what do they get?

So this this boils down to this.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
Then would you rather being a fan of a team
that can't stop a four yard run? Or would you
rather be a fan of a team that can't get
a four yard run?

Speaker 5 (10:18):
I yeah, definitely the friend. If you can't get a
four yard run, it's not watchable football.

That's kind of what I watch.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
I don't know if it's just because I grew up
in SEC country, I'm from Louisiana or whatever, but you
can win a game three to nothing.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
I hear you.

Sure, I watched it. I know the rest of the
country thought it was boring when Alabama and LSU rematches
the National Championship game because.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
The field goal fast.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
I said, boy, those bags are hitting.

That's what I said.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
You know, I don't mind.

Speaker 4 (10:48):
It, but that's not what you saw here. That's not
what and I totally I love a defensive game. I
love that, but that's not what this was. This was
LSU's offense struggling from beginning to end.

And they have talent supposedly supposed supposed to.

I want to have a conversation with some of these
people making these claims because I'm not one of them,
you know what I mean, I'm not one of them.
You know, maybe it's not my you know, I guess
it could be my job.

Theoretically. I think of myself more of a general opinion
this than.

A college football guy. But Garrett Nussmeyer, Drew Aller, who
I'm unfamiliar with what he I think he's they haven't
really played anybody. This is gonna be his biggest moment tonight.
Drew Aller and Arts Manning were three of the top
five Heisman Trophy odds.

I just wonder. I think when you're going at systematic advantage,
that ole Miss offense seems to have trouble running through
SEC defenses as the season progresses.

aggressively that I turned to this stranger and I said,
you don't want to see Jackson Dark play? Like, what's

Said, I want to see him play, but I want
to see him start.

Kids, He's not MASSI first down, read option, get some yards,
sacking down, another quarterback run, get some more yards. Third down,

get the same guy, same exact guy who twenty minutes,
I'm sorry, two plays ago was holding his ears like
they were was just like Dart would have got the

first down. So that guy and the rest of New
York you get what you asked for Jackson Dart. Congratulations,
welcome to what I think is the best defense in football,
the Los Angeles Chargers.

Why not? You know, I think that that's that's how
I would approach it if I was Brian Dable and
the Giants. I agree with you. I think that Jackson
Dart is going to see a top defense in the Chargers,
So why not, you know, throw him out there against
a tough team and see what he can do. Because
if you go out there and you're playing like a
team that you know, a team that is not expecting

to do much, and you perform well, I don't know
how to digest that. I don't know how to analyze that.
Now you go out there and you do okay against
a tough defensive team, then I know what I've got
to work with. So I actually think this is the
way to do it. If you want to see what
Jackson Dart is capable of, this is a way to
do it. Don't ease him into it. What is that doing?

just two. It's a couple of players out there, but

So they started last year with a defense that was
mediocre and you thought they figured it out by the

to see them now against where your your defense is

struggling to put a stop on any bleed and Lamar
Jackson could only do so much. And in the last
game against the Lions, Lamar looked out of sorts in
the sense that he was sacked seven times he could.
It was like, are you trying to make the hero
play every time right now? Because you're you're in a

don't see him do a lot of that. He you
know what I mean, He's not one to hold onto
the ball like that and take the sack. But it's like,
