Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Welcome in everybody, Fox Sports Radio, Fox Football Saturday Aerk Torres,
Jason Martin. We are broadcasting live from the Fox Sports
Radio studios. J mart you know, listen when it's July
twenty eighth and we're grinded through a show trying to find,
you know, three hours worth of content. We grind to
(00:27):
get Tonight's like tonight unbelievable day. We obviously have an
unbelievable Sunday coming up in the NFL. But we still
got a lot to decide in the world of college football.
As the sager just told you in overtime in Happy Valley,
Penn State has just taken the lead. They were down
(00:47):
seventeen to three. Ja Martin and I had all of
our James Franklin takes lined up, all the stats on
top ten teams. Whatever they rally tie the game. They
have taken a twenty four to seventeen lead. Oregon now
has the ball, obviously has a chance to tie or
potentially win. Then in Athens, Georgia, Alabama up twenty four
(01:12):
to twenty one with the ball third down, jaymar this
was one you and I both miss this, but earlier
in the fourth quarter, Georgia had the ball in the
red zone decided to go for it on fourth down.
It was a quick play. They tried to catch Alabama
caught off guard. They did not. They don't convert, so
(01:33):
Georgia had the chance to tie this up earlier in
the quarter. Now, to be fair, there is still two
twenty one left, third down, Georgia still has I believe,
two timeouts. My eyes are again I'm Jmart funny on yeah,
fun fact about Torres. My eyes are not as good
as they once were. But two timeouts plus a potential
(01:54):
two minute timeout, So Georgia looking for a stop here.
By the way, this might might just be back and
forth for the next like twenty five minutes. Here, Oregon
has picked up a first down, so they are very
much alive, trying to tie the game up in Happy Valley.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
But anyway, J Mart, how you doing, buddy? You doing good?
Speaker 4 (02:14):
Yeah? I mean this has been awesome, like all day,
and a lot of these games have lived up to
the billding in terms of being dramatic. I don't know
if like it's been the greatest football from an offensive
standpoint that we've seen from a lot of these teams,
but a lot of these have just been dogfight wars.
This one, this Alabama Georgian, you know, obviously in Penn
State had more hards in the fourth quarter than they
did in the first three. Down seventeen to three with
(02:36):
about twelve minutes left, come all the way back to tie,
and then score first in overtime. So obviously there's just
a ton going on. We've already seen number four go
down to a really good Old miss team. Like, there's
just so much to talk about. All you had to
do when you were, you know, putting together a script
for this show, all we had to do was just say, yeah,
we're gonna talk about the football. Yeah, and we're pretty
(02:57):
much done right there.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Yeah, if you're looking for NBA training camp opening conversation,
this is probably not gonna be the show for you.
By the way, Oregon in the red zone, Dante Moore
a fumbled handoff was recovered by Oregon, So yeah, second
and thirteen for the Oregon Ducks, and goodness, gracious, what
(03:19):
a Saturday of college football. By the way, worth noting
Colorado fourteen BYU three in the late game on ESPN.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
So there's a lot going on.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
I mean, I don't want to get too far off
subject here, Like you know, I do want to talk
about LSU. I just heard Martin and Monci talking about
USC falling earlier in the day. But I mean, we
got two just huge games here right now, coming down
to the wire. The Alabama Georgia game has hit the
two minute time out, Georgia trailing twenty four to twenty one.
(03:51):
Alabama does have the ball, and again we are in
overtime and Happy Valley, and I'll tell you this, j
mart It's gonna come down to essentially one play in
Happy Valley. It's gonna be fourth and one. Oregon just
completed a pass over the middle. It was third and eight.
Dan Lanning was calling for a helmet a hit to
(04:13):
the head from the helmet. It's not gonna be called.
So Oregon fourth and one on about the four yard line.
Obviously a first down would give them a new set
of downs. And it does look like they pay actually
review for targeting for helmet to helmet.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
Yeah, I I I was good.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
Yeah, I mean really, it's just good. Like we're obviously
going to be talking about it when it ends either way.
In real time, I didn't see any targeting there, but
I guess you need to see it again. I haven't
seen replay yet. I'm usually twenty seconds behind you guys,
at least on your feed here, so I'm just getting
a shot to look at the replay now. Well, yeah, me,
I was going down, but that was pretty clear.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
Yeah, for people who are obviously driving around. Again, we're
just trying to keep you updated in real time. Oregon
and Penn State. It was third and eight. It's overtime,
so to be clear, it's overtime. Penn State up twenty
four to seventeen. In overtime they have scored, so Oregon
needs a touchdown. Where this gets interesting. It was third
(05:16):
and eight. Oregon comes up short, but we have what
appears to be a very clear helmet to helmet, so
we're obviously going to keep you updated there. It does
look like the no, unless I'm mistaken, it doesn't look
like they called the targeting helmet to helmet.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
I don't know if.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
They hair according to Disager, I don't know if to
say if people could hear Disager, but apparently it was
not the crown of the helmet. Although whatever I mean,
I think we all kind of understand that no one
really knows what targeting is anymore.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
But it is fourth and one.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Oregon isn't on about the four yard line, so a
first They could in theory get the first down without
the touchdown and a new set of downs. But it
is certainly just a climactic ending to what has been
a wild, wild Saturday in college football. Oregon needs to
pick up at least one yard to keep this game going, and.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
They have so.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
We are not doing play by play FCC or anyone
else if if you're listening, but for people at home
in overtime, and by the way, Jmart jump in whenever
you want. I'm just trying to keep everybody updated in
real time. Oregon needed to pick up one yard to
get the first down they have. It's overtime, yeah, yeah,
so they're they're they're on the goal line, not quite
(06:35):
in yet, but a new set of downs. Oppishly, well,
Dan Lanning has been a great I mean, Dan Lanning
is a historically aggressive guy, and I think that will
probably be something that they do on the road. It's funny,
you know, Penn State scored late in the in the
fourth quarter, and obviously I think there was half a
second of thought as should you play.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
For the win?
Speaker 2 (06:57):
Oh my good, this game is Banana's okay, So Jamart,
I hate to ruin this for you because I know
you're a little bit behind us. But Oregon has scored
a touchdown. It was a shovel pass Dante Moore to
Jamari Johnson twenty four to twenty three. Dante Moore, Oregon's quarterback,
is walking off the field, So I.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
Think they're gonna go for one, but I don't know
if they will.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
By the way, looks like it easily could have been stopped.
The kid Jamari Johnson has a quick spin to get
into the end zone. Oregon is lining up for the
pat So my assumption here would be that they do
in fact kick the pat.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
That's interesting, honestly, because it seems like to me, just
based on the way the momentum of the game has
gone in the fourth quarter, and now the Penn State's
kind of cooking offensively, eventually, you're probably gonna have to
go for two if it keeps going. You certainly are,
But I don't know. I think I might have gone here,
But I guess, I mean, you're going to live to
(07:59):
play another their series, and I guess this time, you're
going to get the ball first. Maybe you can put
something on them, but I still I don't know the way,
Penn stay. I don't know if I want to hand
them back to football, is what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
Absolutely so, yes, Jmart. For people who are just joining
us in the studio, we lost briefly the Alabama Georgia game,
so we're gonna get that back on momentarily, but we
are headed to a second overtime Oregon, Penn State. This
game is in a second overtime Oregon. We'll start with
the ball. For people just joining us, Oregon was up
(08:34):
seventeen to three with just a couple minutes to.
Speaker 3 (08:37):
Go in this game, well twelve minutes, twelve minutes to go. Okay, yeah, sorry,
I'm just trying to keep this in real time.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
And and Oregon gets the Oregon was up seventeen to
three to that. By the way, like I said, we
had the Drew Aller takes ready to go. Drew Aller
with a beautiful deep ball.
Speaker 4 (08:55):
Literally about the only good throw he's made all night.
It is they it's a big one, but he was
not good at all prior to that, Prior to that drive, you.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
Know, and I'll say this too.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
Part of that probably has the play calling hasn't been
great either. It's like, I mean, you wonder where that
was all game, and part of it is on the
Oregon defense. Again, Oregon Penn State going into a second
overtime here. But yeah, as J Mark just told you,
twelve minutes to go, Oregon was up by up seventeen
to three. Penn State scores two touchdowns, including one excuse me,
(09:28):
in the final seconds with thirty seconds to go. I
actually I was talking to one of our producers, Brandon Deutsch,
in the back about Penn State potentially going for two.
I thought they should just kick the pat and play
for overtime because, as you said, they have all the
momentum by the way in Tusco or in Athens. Excuse me,
I'm all over the place. Third and five inside of
(09:50):
the two minute timeout, so Georgia is officially out of timeouts.
Alabama obviously a first down would essentially see the game.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
It's twenty four to twenty one.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
Alabama has the lead as as Yeah, by J Martin,
I'm so sorry, I'm just stealing everything right now, but
I'm just trying to keep people up. People updated in
real time. Well all right, J Mart, so here you go.
Here is the update for America. Oregon has scored on
the first play of double overtime to take a thirty
(10:24):
to twenty four lead. They will, I assume kick the pat.
Alabama has picked up a first down with under two
minutes to go. Georgia is out of timeouts and so
you never say never, but it feels like Alabama has
officially pulled off the upset.
Speaker 3 (10:43):
By the way, Georgia.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
Was on a nineteen game win streak coming into today
at home. They are going to lose this game. Ty
Simpson is taking any by the way, J Mart, here
you go, buddy.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
Oregon is going for two.
Speaker 2 (10:59):
This this is insanity right now. Oh my goodness. And
Dante Moore just threw a pick in overtime. We might
have to get to say. I don't even know what
the overtime rule. Oh my god, J Bart, I know
you're twenty seconds behind us, but I'm so sorry required
to go for two?
Speaker 4 (11:17):
Oh is it?
Speaker 5 (11:18):
I thought it was after the Saxon one made it
so strange on the Georgia Tech at wake Forest today
that was only the first overtime Wake went for two
and had the pass intercepted and lost, never got to
a second overtime.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
Awesome.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
So I will keep you updated here because there's so
much going on in real time.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
Alabama has taken a knee.
Speaker 4 (11:34):
That's gonna be that.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
Alabama has taken a second knee. It is official. Oregon
has scored in the second overtime. As de Sega just
told you, they were forced to go for two. So
now Penn State will get the ball back. A touchdown
obviously ties it. They cannot kick a field goal and
they would have to go for two to seal the win.
So Penn State has the ball. Alabama wins. Jmar Well,
(11:57):
we wait for this Penn State game to go final.
Let me ask you this. You know you were traveling
the weekend of Alabama Florida State. I had kind of
given up on Alabama, and not because they didn't have
the talent, but it was just.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
It was And we have a ballgame. J mart I'm
so sorry. At some point we'll let you talk.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
Jmart We have a ballgame in Happy Valley, and interception
an interception in double time.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
Everything's final now, Jmartin, you know what, all right, that's one.
Speaker 5 (12:32):
Thing Penn State hadn't done right, they had no just
go to.
Speaker 4 (12:34):
A break and come back and talk about all.
Speaker 5 (12:36):
No turnovers until that last play of the night. And
James Franklin at Penn State against top ten teams is
now four and twenty one.
Speaker 4 (12:43):
We're going to get to that st James Franklin did
not throw that interception, Okay, go ahead, put that out there.
I don't think this one falls on him, although they had.
Speaker 5 (12:52):
Zero offense until the last ten minutes.
Speaker 4 (12:54):
Yeah, I think you give the OC and Drew Aller
a lot of that and the offensive line as well.
Like I just I don't know. We'll talk about it
when we come back out of this, but man, some
heavyweight fights just came to an end there.
Speaker 3 (13:04):
They did.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
By the way, for the betting public, the over under
in the Oregon Penn State game was fifty two and
a half. It ends at fifty four, So shout out
to all the over betterers there. But we do have
a final in Happy Valley, double overtime, in interception in
double overtime for the Oregon Ducks has sealed a victory
(13:25):
for Oregon. As de Sega just told you. James Franklin
now four and twenty one, against top ten teams. I
actually have a stat that will dive deeper into that.
In Alabama, to their credit, they go to Georgia get
the win twenty four to twenty one. Kalin Deboor, whatever
he was feeling three or four weeks ago, has completely
(13:47):
flipped the script. Georgia's nineteen game home winning streak is
officially over. J Mart, you got in about three words,
and I just kept talking over you that entire first segment.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
So good, I apologize. We're gonna come fine.
Speaker 4 (13:59):
I was watching too.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
Okay, you're watching twenty seconds behind I. Yeah. Okay. By
the way, FCC, we were not doing play by play
at the record show. Well, come back when we do.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
We are gonna recap two wild finishes almost at an
exact same time again. Oregon thirty to twenty four win
in double overtime at Happy Valley and Alabama winning twenty
four to twenty one Ian Athens. Kirby Smart now one
and seven, one and eight excuse me against Alabama in
(14:29):
his career. A lot to discuss, and darn it, we
only got two hours and forty five minutes left to
discuss at all.
Speaker 3 (14:36):
It's all coming up next.
Speaker 4 (14:37):

Tell you what, Jamart. It all fell down for the
Penn State and Nitny Lions and the Georgia Bulldogs. I'm
gonna give you the floor.
Speaker 4 (16:31):
Which game are we?
Speaker 2 (16:32):
Since I talked the entire first segment, Just try to
get by the way, let me just reset for everybody.
Double overtime Oregon wins thirty to twenty four. They blew
a seventeen to three lead in the fourth quarter. Penn
State ties it up forces overtime. In double overtime, Oregon wins,
Alabama goes to Georgia, snaps Georgia's nineteen game home win streak.
(16:56):
Kirby Smart now one and eight against Alabama in his career.
Flores yours, J mart S. It's I talked the entire
first segment. I'm gonna let you start talking and sharing
some takes for whatever you want to talk about.
Speaker 4 (17:09):
Man, I don't even really know which game to start with.
We're gonna talk about both of them. I guess the
most reason when we saw the overtime win for Oregon
there with Penn State, the one that you really kind
of have pointed to for the last decade in the
sport was Alabama Georgia, and it lived up to the billing,
(17:30):
even though it was five versus seventeen this time, not
one versus two or something like that. This seventeenth ranked
Alabama team since the loss has looked very very good
on the field. The quarterback Ty Simpson has looked very
very good. And of course you get a healthy Ryan
Williams back. You go to Athens, that's a really difficult
(17:50):
place to play, obviously, and obviously I feel like all
the pressure is not really on Georgia there. It's more
on Alabama because the coaches, the coaches situation there and
trying to kind of turn all of that around. But
they had the talent. We already knew that. That's why
everybody had them picked into the playoff and a lot
of people had them picked to potentially win it. They
(18:12):
have a ton of skilled talent, They got a lot
of size in the trenches, and it's just is it
all going to jail? Is it all gonna coalesce? And
what you saw in this game was when it's hat
on a hat and when it's physical out there, Alabama
can still get the job done. And ty Simpson has
a lot of swats. Well, we saw that after he
ran that ball into the end zone before the first half,
(18:34):
he immediately did the quiet symbol to the crowd, and
it almost bit them because Georgia owned the second half
for the most part and owned that fourth quarter. And honestly,
that's very similar to what happened Georgia. The home team
kind of owned that quarter, got it back, got things closer,
even though it felt like it was going to Alabama's
way in the first half. Well, Oregon kind of was
doing the same thing. And then Penn State, the home team,
(18:56):
they decided to fight back and they take it to overtime.
But over just Alabama's talent shows why so many of
us were high on them going into the year. And
the one thing I think you can look at defensively
is I mean, Gunner Stockton was thirteen of twenty, didn't
even have one hundred and fifty yards. It's not like
he had a bad game, but he just wasn't much
of a factor in it. It was just too that
(19:19):
felt like a very old style SEC game in many ways,
but there was a lot of running for Georgia, there
was a lot of defense, a lot of hard hits
in the ball game. It was just it was one
of those kind of wars. But generally like it was
just good to be able to watch both those games
at the same time because you just don't get that
very much ever, and you had it obviously on two
(19:39):
separate networks, so you could watch them both simultaneously. That's
about as good as college football can get having both
of those going on at the exact same time. In
addition to the afternoon Slate, which was no slouch in
its own right, and we haven't even gotten a chance
to talk about that. So I definitely think the storyline
is less about Georgia and more about Alabama and just
maybe be kind of buying some equity for that coaching
(20:03):
staff that was really maligned pretty hard. And it does
look like Ryan Grubbs offense is starting to come alive
as well.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
So that yeah, so I actually agree with you one
hundred percent. Yes, there are conversations out about Georgia. By
the way, I stand corrected. I said nineteen game home
win streak for Georgia. It's actually a thirty three game
home win streak since twenty nineteen. By the way, Jamart,
fun little trivia question for you know the last team
and last coach to beat Kirby Smart and Georgia at Georgia.
Speaker 4 (20:33):
For some reason, I was gonna say it was Kentucky.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
It wasn't Kentucky.
Speaker 4 (20:37):
I cannot remember. It was somebody off the beat.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
Yeah, say you're barking up the right, totally mid team.
It was Will Muschamp and the South Carolina game Cox
in twenty nineteen. So that was the last So I
was wrong. It was twenty nineteen, a thirty three game
home win streak. For or snapped. But to your point,
(21:03):
I do agree with you. I think this is more
a story about Alabama because you know Georgia. Yes, there
is a story Kirby Smart now one in eight against Alabama.
This was, by the way, the first game they had
played in Athens against each other. In the Kirby Smart era,
I had played a bunch of the SEC championship game,
a bunch of the College Football Playoff. But I just
bring it up because if Alabama loses this game, I
(21:26):
don't think it's def Con five. But if they lost
this game and it was ugly, then I think there
were a lot of conversations to be had and so
they not only win, but they you know again, I
know what you said, but I could be wrong. I
think they actually had the lead the totality of the game. Like,
I don't think there was ever a moment where Georgia
actually had the lead. But I just bring it up
(21:48):
because it was that they won. It was the manner
that they won. And I'm with you. By the way,
you mentioned Ryan Grubb, you mentioned Ty Simpson. Listen in
this season where all these highly rated quarterbacks that everybody loves,
garrett Us Meyer sticks arch Maadic stinks.
Speaker 3 (22:07):
Drew Aller, who will Nick cape Club? Nick stinks?
Speaker 2 (22:10):
Garrett Nusbyer. I think I said him, but I'll say
him twice because he's so bad. He stinks. Ty Simpson, Man,
he was coming into today forty one of his last
forty six in the previous two games. He finishes tonight
twenty three of forty three. At one point he was
like six of six on third downs, just did what
(22:30):
he needed to do. I know the stats don't totally
show it, but twenty four of thirty eight. Excuse me,
I think I said, I'm looking at the wrong stats here.
Twenty four of thirty eight, two hundred and seventy six yards,
two touchdowns. And if we're gonna or not, we but
just we talk a lot about the disappointing quarterbacks in
college football. Ty Simpson has risen to the occasion. Alabama
(22:51):
gets the win and yeah, Dante Moore has two Dante
Moore has absolutely So I'll tell you what this is
what we'll do. We still got so much to talk about.
We'll talk a little bit about the Georgia perspective on
that game. We also will talk about, as you just said,
Dante more going to Happy Valley and well, I won't
spoil it, Steve Desagre, what happened in Happy Valley this week?
(23:12):
Why don't you go ahead and tell us what's trending
at this hour?
Speaker 5 (23:15):
Oh, a little bit happened tonight. I'm glad you just
brought that up about recruits, because they showed a list
today of the class of I think it was twenty
twenty four, and I'm looking at the list and it
just confirmed for me what I've felt for a long time.
All of you people that go nuts about hey, so
and so high school areas going to the you know,
and you make so much of it. Okay, So Dylan
(23:36):
RelA is at Nebraska and wow, dj lagways at Florida, and.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
Well, did you see so the twenty I guess it
would have been twenty twenty three. I think the top
four were arch Manning, Nico Iamaliava who went to OWN
four today, Jackson Arnold, who can't complete a forward pass.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
They're a mess.
Speaker 2 (23:56):
And I will say Dante Moore to Jay Mart's point
we're gonna talk about in a minute, and his second
school is fine, you know, and to his credit, by
the way, transferred and was willing to sit out a year,
which obviously in this ear it doesn't happen very often.
Speaker 3 (24:08):
But go ahead to disag. I'm just taking the floor here.
Speaker 5 (24:10):
It's just I'm not telling it. It's America, do what
you want. I'm just saying there is a an obvious
over emphasis on the rankings and being first, and I
know this eighteen year old is going to be great. Okay,
just can you just do you even look at your
own work? But two years later of what has come
of these players, let's just take the temperature down just
(24:34):
a little bit.
Speaker 3 (24:35):
But it's starting.
Speaker 4 (24:35):
It can't because to pay them.
Speaker 5 (24:37):
Yeah no, I mean like the hypeer recruits.
Speaker 4 (24:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (24:41):
Well, what's starting to become interesting is the guys that
now are finding success on the second spot. Carson Beck,
you know, Kyler.
Speaker 4 (24:50):
Murray Hicks did it.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
Yeah, Bone Knicks, you know, I.
Speaker 5 (24:53):
Know, Jackson Dart did it.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
Jackson Darker. I wonder if we'll talk about him before
the end of the show, so you will come up, Yes, Parfet.
Speaker 5 (25:00):
Let's get to the college football because we have three
late games. It's late first half at Colorado. Buffalo's ahead
of number twenty five BYU fourteen to three. Louisiana Techs
lead at UTEP is now ten to three with about
eleven minutes to go, and they're in overtime at Louisiana
and the Sunbelt opener for these two, Louisiana ahead of
Marshall forty eight to forty one. That is it. Those
(25:21):
three late games, and two of them are almost over.
Hawaii played on the road earlier, no late game there tonight.
Well college football did have the number one team Ohio
State in action at Washington. Buck guys were up fourteen
to six to start the fourth quarter twenty four to
six the final over the Huskies, who were sacked six times.
Number six Oregon wins at number three Penn State in
(25:42):
double overtime, thirty to twenty four. Dante Moore three touchdown passes.
Oregon led ten to three early in the fourth quarter.
Number thirteen Ole Miss at home defeated number four LSU
twenty four nineteen Trinidad Chambliss over three hundred yards passing.
Alabama has now won ten of the last seven matchups
against Georgia. They won at number five Georgia tonight twenty
(26:04):
four to twenty one. Ninth ranked Texas A and m
edged Auburn sixteen to ten. Eleventh ranked Indiana won at
Iowa twenty to fifteen on a touchdown pass with about
a minute a half to go. Hoosiers are off next week.
Oregon is off next week, and then it's the Indiana
Hoosiers at Oregon, Iowa State in Vanderbilt with wins Missouri
and notreed aime with victories. Tennessee won in overtime at
(26:27):
Mississippi State. Georgia Tech won in overtime at Wake Forest.
Illinois beat USC thirty four to thirty two on a
field goal on the final play. The Aligni had fumbled
on the one before halftime, had fumbled into the end
zone in the fourth quarter, had blown a late lead. Still,
Illinois gets the victory. In the ACC. Duke won at
Syracuse thirty eight three. Louisville's four and oh overall after
(26:51):
a victory at Pitt thirty four to twenty seven. Call
is four and one so far after a narrow win
at BC twenty eight twenty four, Virginia Tech one at
NC State twenty three to twenty one. Tonight, Stanford with
a late TD thirty to twenty nine winners against San
Jose State Jets quarterback Justin Fields is out of concussion protocol.
(27:11):
He'll start Monday night against Miami. If you haven't heard, yes,
the Giants will have a new starting quarterback going up
against the Chargers. It's Jackson Dart Tomorrow. Giants places kicker
Graham Ganot on injured reserve. Europe leads the US at
the Ryder Cup eleven and a half to four and
a half going into Sunday's final matches on Long Island.
And for Major League Baseball, the regular season ends this Sunday.
(27:34):
Detroit and Cleveland each one. They've each clinched at least
wildcard berths. They're in the postseason. They're still tied for
first in the AL Central going to the final day.
The Guardians hold the tiebreaker. Mets and Reds each one.
They're still tied for the final NL wildcard spot. The
Reds do hold the tiebreaker. Brewers, by the way, clinch
(27:55):
the number one overall seed thanks to a Philadelphia loss.
Cubs seven three winners against Saint Louis today. Cubs hit
four home runs. They clinch hosting next week's wildcard best
to three against the Padres, Toronto and the Yankees each one.
Those two still tied for first in the Al East.
Toronto holds the tiebreaker. That Yankee win, They're seventh in
(28:15):
a row, was six to one against Baltimore. Aaron Judge
with his fifty third homer. He's batting three thirty one.
His was a first inning shot. Aaron Judge this year
has hit twenty home runs just in first innings. That
is more than anyone else in any single inning in
any season in the history of the Major Leagues.
Speaker 3 (28:36):
Back to you, So that means he should win MVP
right now.
Speaker 5 (28:40):
And then there's a guy with sixty homers in a
go cloth on Seattle.
Speaker 2 (28:43):
I actually had to consult with Monsei between shows. I
was like, what am I missing on that. I know
Aeron Judge having a great year, but I know cal
Rawley doesn't have the best batting average.
Speaker 5 (28:50):
But no, for him, it's good. It's not two twenty.
It's more like two forty two to fifty.
Speaker 2 (28:55):
Sixty homers for catches pretty good. But I'll tell you
what we could discuss that we'll do our envy.
Speaker 5 (29:00):
It's the record for a catcher and the record for
a switch hitter more than Mickey Mantlehead.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
I'll tell you what we will do our MVP Baseball
takes an hour four but right now we got a
lot of football to get to. Fox Sports Radio rators
Jason Martin broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. Hey,
not just a game, it's a once in a generation event,

of a legacy that never stops. Be there when history
(29:26):
is made. The Harlem globe Chrotter is one hundred year Tour.
Get your tickets today at Harlem Globetrotters dot com. All right, so,
jmart we talked a little bit about you know what,
real quick, we'll save some We'll do this quick and
then we'll do Penn State organ On the other side,
Kirby Smart one in eight against Alabama? Is this just
a mental block? What do you think this is? How
(29:47):
do you explain this? Because it's unbelievable. I mean, I
don't know what the stats are against everybody else, but
it's pretty darn good.
Speaker 3 (29:53):
One in eight against Alabama.
Speaker 4 (29:55):
Yeah, I mean I don't know. I mean it must
at some point, you like, you can't just be a coincidence.
There's got to be some kind of like you said,
a psychological, there's something that just happens there. But I
also just think Alabama gets up for Georgia too. I
think both those things can be true, and it could
potentially just be a bad string. You know. Those are
(30:17):
the two programs that have come to kind of signify
dominance in the SEC for so many years now, and
of course you're seeing some other teams step into that
into that mix on a regular side. But I don't
think it's that Kirby can't beat them, you know. I
mean a lot of these games have been close. A
lot of them they've had to come back. We had
the Carson back comeback game last year for example. Like
(30:38):
there's there's been there have been circumstances where it looks
like Georgia could have won the games and hasn't. I
don't know that I really can say, well, Kirby smart
can't beat them. I don't know, Like maybe there's a
little bit of the Ryan Day Michigan thing, just just
a slight bit of it, because I think that several
times that Alabama has beaten Georgia during this this run
(31:01):
that you're talking about, Georgia was probably the better team
and still managed not to win the game. It's not
a death now obviously for them. Both of them have
one loss. We could still be seeing them in the
conference championship. We could still be seeing them, certainly in
the College Football Playoff. I think we probably will based
on this with a lot of football left to play.
But I don't know that there's really like an obvious
(31:22):
conclusion to draw where it relates to Kirby Smart and Alabama.
I think it's just those are two really good teams
and for whatever reason, Alabama's just had their number.
Speaker 2 (31:32):
Yeah, Kirby Smart was actually asked about it earlier this
week and he said, you know, what is everybody else's
record against Alabama? But yeah, with that said, if my
math is correct here, he is one oh eight and
twenty as a head coach. Take out year one, where
he went eight and five means he's one hundred and fifteen.
(31:52):
More than half of those losses have come against Bama.
Taken out year one, more than half of his losses
have come against Alabama. Alabama wins twenty four to twenty one.
But I'll tell you what, Jamart, we gotta come back.
We got to talk about the other big game. Double overtime.
Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks get a victory. We'll
(32:12):
come back discuss that next unbelievable win for Oregon another
crushing loss for Penn State.
Speaker 3 (32:17):
This is Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (32:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

in the Countdown to Kickoff presented by BEDMGM every Saturday
and Sunday morning, right here on Fox Sports Radio and
the iHeartRadio app. All right, j mart We've spent a
lot of time talking about everything that happened throughout a
busy day in college football. But I feel like we're
just starting to scratch the surface on everything that happened
on Saturday. But you know, in addition to the Alabama win,
(33:14):
Alabama wins twenty four to twenty one, there was of course,
another Top ten matchup in Happy Valley, Pennsylvania, Oregon at
Penn State. This game was wild. Oregon was up seventeen
to three with twelve minutes left. Penn State rallies to
tie it up and force it into overtime. In double overtime,
(33:35):
Oregon scores they have to go for two. Don't get it,
but in interception seals the win in double overtime. We'll
get to some reaction in a second, but first, here
was Dan Lanning after the game.
Speaker 3 (33:48):
Gonna be about a thousand cuts. Every cup matters, every
cup matters.
Speaker 4 (33:52):
Eventually hit the chucular. That was it right.
Speaker 8 (33:55):
There, unbelieva.
Speaker 1 (33:56):
We'll focus our quarterback. This is an episode of the
All Star Our Team.
Speaker 4 (34:02):
Special.
Speaker 2 (34:03):
I know the audio doesn't do it full justice, but
Dan Lanning holding back tears talking about his team. I'll
ask you, you know we talked about Alabama Georgia. Was
it more about Alabama or Georgia? I think I know
where you're gonna go with this one. But Oregon winning
in double overtime at Penn State more about Oregon or
is it more.
Speaker 3 (34:23):
About Penn State?
Speaker 4 (34:25):
It's more about Penn State.
Speaker 2 (34:26):
I think it is too you know, by the way,
for any Oregon fans listening, we're not trying to be negative,
but go ahead.
Speaker 4 (34:31):
It's good for Oregon. Like I mean, look, Dante Dante
Moore made every play that you would have asked him
to in this game. I saw that comment made after
the game, and I agreed with a million percent. Drew
Aller did the opposite. He made one play you needed
him too, but outside of that, you couldn't really count
on him. But the story going in was Penn State
coming out as Penn State because Penn State, look, it's
(34:52):
pretty much championship or bust this year for them based
on what they did last year, based on Aler supposedly
being Round one talent. Even last year, according to some
you brought both your running backs back. You bought so
much of that talent that made that deep run last
year back, And the problem was coming in there were
(35:14):
kind of the jokes being made about when is your
season going to start because you hadn't played anybody, and
it really looked like to me it took them three
quarters to actually figure out the season had begun because
they hadn't seen anything like what they saw against Oregon. Now,
originally the FIU game that they played would have been
Texas A and M. But they had to reschedule it,
(35:35):
do the hurricane, and do some other things like that,
so they lost the potential really good matchup they would
have already had against a good A and M team,
but they just weren't tested coming into this, but because
of the expectations placed on them and the pressure placed
on them, and it was that you want to hear
crazy stat. I saw this stat and it blew my mind.
(35:57):
So they the white out, which James Franklin's this is
the best environment in college football, and at night it's beautiful,
like it's hard to be it really is. It's fantastic
to watch. It's a great thing to watch on TV.
Speaker 9 (36:07):
All that.
Speaker 4 (36:08):
Do you know what Penn State's record is in white
out games?
Speaker 2 (36:11):
I don't know what it is, but I'll be quick
when I say that many years it's not the biggest
home game of the year because of course Fox has
big noon and the whiteout is a night game. But
go ahead and take it where you want to take it.
Thirteen and ten, not just under James Franklin though, No,
like period. Yeah, it's still they're white out, their white
out record.
Speaker 4 (36:30):
Is not great.
Speaker 3 (36:31):
That's interest you think it would be, right, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (36:33):
It's because it's such a special thing. But they don't
win a lot of those games during those white out situations,
so that's neither here nor there. I just thought it
was fascinating to look at. But I think it's more
about Penn State, just because this is the first time
you got to look at them and say what are they?
And I think coming out of this game, you're still
kind of saying what are they? Because it's hard to
(36:55):
lump he's twenty one years old, but because he's getting
a lot of money, he's got his American Eagle deal,
and he's got all these other things that he's doing,
and he's being touted as a draft prospect and all
this stuff. He's got to be better than this. And
the last couple of times we've seen him against really
top flight opponents in the college football playoff game that
(37:16):
they lost and then certainly here, he just hadn't look
very good. And to this point this year, if you
look at his numbers overall, hasn't looked very good. And
then the one comparison I don't like is the quarterback
that wasn't chosen that went to Missouri and bauld out
tonight against you, mass I'm not going to listen to that, like, yes,
he's going to be good, and Missouri is a pretty
(37:38):
good football team. We get all this. I'm not going
to dog out drew Aller to that degree, but I
will say I am rather unimpressed this year. You know,
four games into this this year, this has got to
be the year where you start to show a little
bit more growth, and I just have not seen that
at all from him.
Speaker 2 (37:56):
So I agree with everything you said. I'll throw another
stead at you. By the way, the thirteen and ten
is pretty shocking. And by the way, again that records
kind of skewed in a positive direction because again they
haven't played their best games in the court of their
best opponents. In quote unquote the whiteout game. You just
go back to last year the white out game was Illinois.
They played Ohio State at home, but because it was
(38:18):
big noon, it wasn't technically called the white out game.
The stat that I saw, so I looked it up
before the game or before the show. So James Franklin
now four and twenty one against top ten opponents. Okay,
that's not good. Here's where it gets more interesting. Two
of those wins came in the magical twenty sixteen season.
That was the only year he beat Ohio State. The
(38:41):
other two top ten wins since twenty sixteen, Jmart It
was Utah in a Rose Bowl in which Cam Rising
got hurt.
Speaker 3 (38:51):
I was at that game. It was a terrible game.
Speaker 2 (38:54):
And also Boise in the College Football Playoff last year
on a neutral field. Those are are there two wins
against top ten opponents since twenty sixteen, so essentially the
last nine seasons. And if that doesn't tell you kind
of the state of Penn State football under James Franklin,
I don't know what does.
Speaker 4 (39:11):
Yeah, And look, it's just going to continue to be
that way. And the question then is like, well, Penn
State's not supposed to be Ohio State, Like this is
about as good as they can be. I just don't
think their fans believe that, and I don't believe that
that's necessarily what it should be like if they've got
money coming into the program. It's not that James Franklin
has done a bad job. It's just is James Franklin
(39:31):
the guy that's gonna win the big game for you
because he's proven he's not. And Dan Lanning, you know,
he's had some moments where he hasn't been able to
win big games, but he's also been able to win
some of them. And this one was huge to get
this when all the momentum is going against them and
you blow that two touchdown lead, but you still end
up winning the football game. That's that's still pretty impressive. Now,
(39:52):
Drew Aller helped you by throwing into triple coverage on
that interception, but even with that, notwithstanding, like that win
that Lanning had is to kind of win that James
Franklin seems never to have in a longer tenure at
Penn State, and that the school that James Franklin used
to coach is undefeated right now.
Speaker 2 (40:12):
Well, Vanderbilt, And I'll just put a bow on this
by saying what you said is right. It's national championship
or bust. And I think it's not only a national
championship or bust, it's how you got there.
Speaker 3 (40:22):
If you go ten and two.
Speaker 2 (40:23):
And you lose to Oregon, and you lose to Ohio
State in a couple weeks and you sneak into the
playoff and all of a sudden, it's not the same,
Like at some point you have to win games that
matter and beating everybody who doesn't isn't good enough. And
so this feels like a crossroads moment. You got all
your players back veteran team. This game you were at home.
(40:43):
Oregon ends up getting the win in double overtime. Congrats
to Oregon. We want to give them credit, but this
is also a lot about Penn State losing again. Fox
Sports Radio eritors Jason Martin, broadcasting live from the Fox
Sports Radio Studios, will come back when we do put
a bow on college football for now, and then we
gotta talk some NFL.
Speaker 3 (41:01):
You think college football was good, wait till Sunday. Fox
Sports are.
Speaker 1 (41:03):
Now you're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio Home.
Speaker 2 (41:08):
Welcome man, everybody, Fox Sports Radio. It is our two
tours and Martin, we are broadcasting live from the Fox
Sports Radio studios. Yes, we are live at midnight Eastern
eleven pm Central. And boy, oh boy, what a busy
day of college football do we have if you missed it.
(41:30):
In our one, we basically had two games go final,
one after the other. Penn State in double overtime losing
at home to Oregon Oregon was up seventeen to three
with twelve minutes to go. Penn State rallies, they force overtime.
They end up losing in a second overtime. But there
(41:51):
was another Top twenty matchup that certainly caught America's attention. Alabama,
three weeks after everybody left them for dead, they go
to Athens. They win twenty four to twenty one. Kirby Smart,
I've been saying one in eight, he's now one in
seven as the head.
Speaker 3 (42:07):
Coach of the Georgia Bulldogs.
Speaker 2 (42:10):
We don't have the full audio yet, but I am
seeing on social media somebody asking Kirby Smart about his
record against Alabama. He said, quote, I mean, what's everybody
else's record against him? You got it? Well, we don't
know what everybody else's record is. We do know Kirby
Smart now one in seven. And I'll tell you what, Jamart,
(42:31):
we have a first ever instance in the history of
tourres and Martin, a regular guest has demanded airtime on
our show.
Speaker 4 (42:43):
I bet I know who that is.
Speaker 3 (42:44):
Well, I will.
Speaker 2 (42:45):
Defend Ryan Fowler because we only call him when Alabama loses.
And by the way, when you were traveling on labor
day weekend. Arnie Spanier insisted that we get him on,
So we gotta get him on, you know, program defining
winning some ways. I know they beat Georgia last year.
(43:05):
But Ryan Fowler are Fox Sports radio affiliate in TUSCALUSID
tied one hundred point nine hosts four hours a day,
two to six central Monday through Friday. Ryan Fowler, can
I get a roll tide? What's going on? Buddy?
Speaker 3 (43:21):
How you doing?
Speaker 10 (43:22):
You know, as we say in Tuscaloosa, rt R role
Tor has run to be on with you. You and
Jason Martin and you talked.
Speaker 9 (43:30):
About the last couple of weeks.
Speaker 10 (43:31):
You know, for people that know me, my wife is
truly a licensed therapist, a doctor in this area.
Speaker 9 (43:38):
I'm not.
Speaker 10 (43:39):
I've played a therapist for the last three weeks of
trying to talk people off the cliff, to try to
calm them down a little bit, try to make sure
everything's okay. This is good for my mental health in
Tuscalusive because if Alabama would have dropped this away is
that they played in that first half, it would have
been a tough fob or six days for me. So
(44:00):
feeling a little better just from my mental health standpoint
in Tessa lous So, let me let.
Speaker 2 (44:04):
Me ask you this first of all, and we'll get
to tonight's game. But for our audience that doesn't maybe
follow the day to day of Alabama, take us to
your first show after the Florida State loss, and let
me even take it a step further. Was anyone convinced
that things were different based on wins over a bad
(44:25):
ul Monroe team and what we now know is a
bad Wisconsin team?
Speaker 3 (44:29):
Like did those wins actually move the needle at all?
Speaker 2 (44:32):
Or was it a everything is riding on what happens
Saturday night in Athens, George.
Speaker 10 (44:38):
You know, listen, you couldn't convince the Alabama the majority.
There was a few that said, Okay, the ULM is progress.
You know, it's a step in the right direction. Wisconsin,
you feel a little bit better. But no, no, and
and really I kept referencing this because most Alabama fans
conceded on al in in the month of September. Where
(45:01):
was it going to be? Well, I don't think many
had it was going to be Florida State. I think
many thought it was going to be this game. And
so now you come out of this. But to answer
your original question is no, no, no, no, it was
all about this game. And you made a comment as
we were coming on there right there when you said
program defining win.
Speaker 9 (45:22):
Because I just can't tell you what this.
Speaker 10 (45:24):
Does for this fan base and confidence in kinglin of Borer.
I think those who know ball can see that he's
building some areas, He's taking some steps, you know, in
the right direction. But Alabama fans are having to recalibrate
because this is the new college football. Okay, they just
had the hardest fall, right because they've kind of been
(45:46):
you know, we always say.
Speaker 9 (45:47):
Regrets to the mean.
Speaker 10 (45:48):
Well, they've had to regress to the means where everybody
else is. But Alabama fans just don't like it. But
to answer your question, no, no, ulm seventy points n
it didn't matter wiscon. So no, it didn't matter. It
was all about this game, and you know, they found
a way to win. And I think you saw a
team grow up to night in Athams.
Speaker 4 (46:09):
So Torres asked this question, Ryan, and I didn't really
exactly know how to answer it. But Kirby Smart and
his Alabama problem, how do you assess that? I mean, look,
these are two really, really good football teams like beyond
good football teams. So obviously somebody has to lose. But
it does tend to favor Alabama almost every time when
(46:31):
they play one another. Is there any explanation? I didn't
have any brilliant, brilliant response to that question. I was
curious if you did.
Speaker 10 (46:40):
No, And you know, Toras and I have talked about
this for weeks. Really, Torres comes home with us every week,
and I think we even made it to comment on
Wednesday that in a lot of ways, I'd love to do.
Speaker 9 (46:53):
Sports talk radio.
Speaker 10 (46:54):
And I think the question was and tourists can correct
me if I'm wrong, but I asked him, I think
who has some pressure?
Speaker 9 (47:01):
Is it Kaylen the Bull or Kirby Smart?
Speaker 10 (47:03):
Because Kirby Smart, No, not only has a Nick Saban problem,
an Alabama problem, he now has a cabin a boar
problem because Calen the buller you know, has beat him there,
beat him last year, in the first year. I mean,
if you're a Georgia fan, I mean, for those out
there listening right now.
Speaker 11 (47:19):
You got to put yourself in their shoes just for
a minute. It's almost like that heel that you can't
find you're an elite program. You're the best of the
best right now. You're probably one of the standards out
there when you look at the voice of college football,
the way that he you know, he builds his program,
but it's like the Alabama problem that you can't get
(47:40):
out of your head.
Speaker 10 (47:41):
And at this point, I think that impacted the game
because when you go to that locker room and you
look at now, listen the way they respond to the
mental toughness.
Speaker 9 (47:48):
You got to give credit because he.
Speaker 10 (47:50):
Coaches a very tough team. But the same thing that
I look at with Kirby, he makes mistakes that always
finds a way to come back. I mean you go
back to you know, whether it's justin fields and the
fake fun and I mean you go back to many
different situations. He just coaches different against Alabama.
Speaker 2 (48:09):
So Ryan, let me jump in on that. I was
preparing for the show and I missed the fourth down
that would have tied the game. That feels like, again
I didn't Jabranhall, Okay, so go ahead.
Speaker 3 (48:23):
I mean, you're a radio host. You can set it up.
Speaker 2 (48:25):
But what was it about fin six minutes to go,
five minutes to go, go, go ahead?
Speaker 10 (48:29):
And they yeah, I mean it was like three minutes
to go maybe three point thirty, and then he burned
a time out when he had three in the bank,
and even you know, the announcers were going.
Speaker 9 (48:40):
What did what did he do? But he went up
Temple on.
Speaker 10 (48:43):
Fourth down rather than trying to tie the game, he
literally went forward, you know, in thought the you know,
twenty yard line. I mean it was you know, pretty
much an automatic kick from their kicker, and you're sitting
there going, what did she just do? I know what
he was trying to do, but the analytics don't tell
you to do that. I mean, I mean, you know,
(49:04):
so it's one of those SOPs that you've got to
credit Alabama because Alabama had not and they didn't have
two fourth cores stops, but I mean they had ran
through Alabama Liny Butter. I mean it was just I mean,
Alabama could not stop them. I don't have the SATs
right in front of me, but I mean it was
two thirty five I think was about six minutes ago,
so they probably ended up over twohundred and fifty yards rushing.
(49:24):
But it was another one of those blunders and you're
just trying to figure out, why does he make these mistakes?
You understand the Nick Saban situation because it was somebody
that he highly respects making these mistakes against Nick Saban.
But now it's like those are continual and that players
in that locker room you mentioned.
Speaker 9 (49:46):
The SATs, they got to be into their head going
you know this, doubt starts creeping.
Speaker 10 (49:52):
Anything negative, anything negative has to come back in your mind.
You start losing tought this and I think anytime they
play it, Remember schedule came out on Tuesday. George's gonna
come right back to just to lose it next year.
So it's it's like this keel that they just cannot
seem to clomb. And it's a lot of it if
you go back and I don't have all of the
(50:13):
games right in front of me, but a lot of
them have just been crucial mistakes from Robby Smart from
a coaching perspective, in my opinion.
Speaker 4 (50:21):
Also, I would also add to that Georgia probably should
have lost at Tennessee a couple of weeks ago. Also,
like if you're really looking at this SEC, it's a
lot more open now, Ryan, Like it's not just Georgia
and Bama, as crazy as that is. I mean A
and M is going to have something to say about it.
Ole Miss I think was getting undervalued all week improved that. So,
(50:41):
I mean, like this this conference is a little bit
different than it used to be. Either one of these
two teams is going to have to really earn it
to get there.
Speaker 11 (50:50):
Yeah, and think about it.
Speaker 10 (50:51):
If you you know, if you're Alabama, you lose this game,
you have no margin of era, right, Georgia has some
margin of era. I mean, this is not taking away
from the potential of this team, but it does take
away that Alabama or puts that Alabama problem right back
in them anytime they play Alabama. But if you you know,
from an Alabama standpoint, you got to go, Okay, well
(51:12):
you got the l against Florida States. But there's nobody
going to run through this league undefeated. I mean, I
don't care you know who it is. I mean, this
is a league that you know.
Speaker 9 (51:22):
I have to give.
Speaker 10 (51:22):
Credit back to Kirby Smart. Two years ago he said it.
I was on the front row of spring meetings in
Sandestin in May and he said, the undefeated seasons are
no longer going to happen to SEC.
Speaker 9 (51:32):
And I'm like, is he conceeding?
Speaker 10 (51:34):
Well, now, you know he had the foresight to look
ahead and to think about, yes, it is here, but
you look at the SEC if this Alabama team, and
to think about where Alabama's at from a mental standpoint
after Florida State, if they can improve their.
Speaker 9 (51:49):
Defense just a little bit. We saw an.
Speaker 10 (51:52):
Elite play caller and Ryan Brubb take an elite play
caller on the defensive side of the football and in
that first half because he made him look silly and
it was almost like they were just a step ahead
at everything Georgia was countering. And in that defense, there
was an old phrase that we used it in Tough
to Loosen when Kirby was here for those nine years.
(52:14):
We always called it third and Kirby, and that was
a sarcastic term because first and second.
Speaker 11 (52:19):
Down he would give up, you know, nothing like I.
Speaker 10 (52:23):
Mean, it would be third and nine. But here goes
a first down. And that seems to be back in
this style of team. You saw it, you know, creep
against other inferior competition. Yeah, you saw it against to
the Sea, but definitely tonight, I think Califatma was eleven
for fifteen on third downs against Kirby's fart. That is
(52:44):
that's a problem, and I think Alifama expose the back
end of that secondary that now you're going to see
other teams. I like that because there's a weakness on
this Georgia team. And I almost wonder sometimes when I
look at Kirby they've been retired because his system was
not going to work in this new college football.
Speaker 11 (53:05):
Is Sperb going to.
Speaker 10 (53:07):
Change and adapt or is he going to get it
get left behind? And I know those fan base, you
know in Athens. I mean I was reading some of
the comments a couple of minutes ago from Georgia fans.
They're upset because you know, they've obviously invested a lot
of money in this program, and fans have a rot
to me a little bit irritated right now at Turkey Smart,
let me.
Speaker 2 (53:26):
Ask you a question Ryan and Jamr. I don't know
how much more you have for Ryan, but I will
ask you. You know, there's there's a pseudo hit. I
don't want to be negative on a big night like tonight,
but you know, you know, it's great you beat Georgia,
but you know who's coming up on the schedule next week?
Speaker 3 (53:43):
Andy Baby, Yeah, the Vanderbilt Combodores are fine.
Speaker 4 (53:46):
I realized They had signs today in Nashville, right here
where I live that said we want Bama, Bring on Bama.
I was like, last time you did that, they beat
you fifty nine to nothing. So I would probably not
go that direction. But they're they're out here calling out.
They're calling Bama out in Nashville, like, bring them on.
Speaker 3 (54:03):
You're not about to get pavied again, are you?
Speaker 4 (54:05):
Ryan?
Speaker 10 (54:06):
Well, you know it's all about a young team and
Alabama is going to be tested this week against Georgia.
They passed that test. Can you get them back down
to ground earth and refocused because this is a different
Vanderbilt team. As you guys just pointed out, Diego Pavia
is one of those guys that's just been a kryptonite.
Speaker 9 (54:25):
That style in Alabama. You know, you gotta also remember,
just keep this in mind.
Speaker 10 (54:30):
James Smith got targeted a targeting call on the fourth quarter,
which will make him it was in the third or
fourth court, second half, regardless, he'll miss the first half.
Keith that in mind, you're sad at defensive front and
to be able to stop a quarterback like him.
Speaker 9 (54:45):
So we're gonna see this team. Are they grounded enough?
Speaker 11 (54:49):
Are they able to rekindle this fire.
Speaker 10 (54:51):
You think it's a revenge game. That's hard to even say,
but it is a tough time. I mean literally, I
kid you not. I've already got five text messages for
tickets for Vanderbilt and usually what those are we call
them Sunday school teacher tickets Sunday school because you can't
get Vanderbilt tickets away.
Speaker 9 (55:10):
Now we got people asking for Vanderbilt and Alabama tickets.
That's a rare occurrence in tel Skill BLSA.
Speaker 3 (55:16):
Jason Martin, I don't know if you have anything else
to ask Ryan, but uh, Ryan's just amazing. Yeah, I mean, listen,
we might have to have you on next week.
Speaker 2 (55:25):
I mean, all of a sudden, Georgia takes you know,
backseat to Vanderbilt. So, uh real quick, last thing, just
how do you handicap the SEC? I mean, you know,
Kirby Smart says, by the way, I should mention Ryan
followed tied one hundred point nine. He hosts two to
six Central Monday through Friday on our Fox Sports radio affiliate.
Speaker 3 (55:42):
My last question, then we'll let you go.
Speaker 4 (55:44):
Ryan.
Speaker 3 (55:45):
Just you know, you still have Oklahoma on the schedule.
Speaker 2 (55:48):
John Mattier is going to be back eventually LSU, who
we kind of saw what they are and maybe are
not today. You don't play Old Miss, you don't play Texas,
Like who are the teams that as we look forward to,
you know, the heart of league play. Do you think
you're going to be there in the end, because obviously
we have to assume Alabama is going to be after
what we saw tonight in Athens.
Speaker 10 (56:08):
You know, at this point, I wouldn't bet on anything
because I think it's a big old, jumbled up mess.
When you look at the SEC and I don't know,
you know, from an injury saying point, everybody's so thin
in college football, you know, you could have a couple
of injuries. You know, Georgia had a big injury to
one of their offensive linemen going into this earnest screen.
Speaker 9 (56:29):
It's that little bit of a difference.
Speaker 10 (56:32):
The parody in college football is there.
Speaker 9 (56:35):
I don't know if you know, you.
Speaker 10 (56:37):
Look at the handicapper and you say, was Alabama the favorite?
Speaker 9 (56:40):
I don't know if anybody is the favorite. I mean,
you know you mentioned Oklahoma.
Speaker 10 (56:43):
Could they be able to survive those injuries? You know,
is Texas able to re energize Texas? A and M
is another team I mean think about we don't we
don't ever bring that up. But Texas A and M
defensively the team that looks I mean, I mean, guys,
we just talked about Vanderbilt. Who knows, don't I don't
have Vanderbilt schedule right here in front of me.
Speaker 9 (57:04):
But what I mean is is that a team that
can do some.
Speaker 10 (57:06):
Damage as we travel throughout the month of October November.
Absolutely they can. You know, Florida's out of it, Kentucky's
out of me. You can really you know, it's gonna
see Missippi safe. That was a I mean, no pun intended.
That was a dog fight in overtime over in sarth Vegas.
So it's just a big, jumbled up mess. And you know,
(57:27):
Grex Thankee has built a solid league, but this playoff
nine game conference thing, it may be too much to handle,
because really eight games is too much to handle. You
almost wonder if he's made in the stake trying to
go to non conference games, because it looks like at
this point it's just a survival, you know, and really
(57:47):
think about the scholarship limitations. You know, the SEC doesn't
have the scholarships where they can go beyond the eighty
five because there's some other conferences that are going beyond
the eighty five and Greg Sankie did not allow that.
Speaker 9 (58:00):
To happen in this league.
Speaker 10 (58:02):
Keep that in mind as you travel throughout the month
of October November, with these injuries really begin to show
up in the SEC.
Speaker 2 (58:09):
I'll tell you what last last last thought, We'll let
you go. I'm looking at Vanderbilt schedule. There is a
pathway to ten and two. I'm just telling you right now.
It starts next week with Alabama. That's tough, but you
have at I'll give you the home games. In the
road games at Alabama, at Texas, at Tennessee, those are
obviously three tough games, but I'll be I don't think
Texas is unbeatable. I don't think Tennessee is unbeatable. The
(58:30):
home games LSU, no offense, Missouri still hasn't played anybody yet,
Auburn and Kentucky. So again at Bama, at Texas, at Tennessee. Auburn, Kentucky,
Missouri and LSU. I'm not saying they get to the playoff,
but I don't think it's like impossible. As they're now
five and zero with five pretty dominant wins. So I'll
(58:51):
tell you what, Ryan, go enjoy the evening. Ryan Fowler
tied one hundred point nine. That is our Fox Sports
radio affiliate down in Tuscaloosa. You can hear him two
to six Central Time, and the calls and the conversation
will be a lot more fun this coming Monday than
they were three weeks ago. Congrats on the win, Ryan,
Good luck with Vandy next week. Never thought i'd have
(59:13):
to say that, But enjoy. We'll have you on again
and hopefully it'll be to celebrate another big victory.
Speaker 3 (59:19):
Thank you, Ryan. We appreciate your time.
Speaker 9 (59:21):
Hy You guys have a great rust of your evening.
Speaker 10 (59:23):
Thank you, Jason, appreciate Stres That.
Speaker 2 (59:26):
Is Ryan Fowler tied one hundred point nine. Make sure
to follow you man. Well, yeah, I mean I can't.
I mean I can't even imagine, because you know, I
you know, I was one and I don't know if
we talked about any of this the last two or
three weeks, but I made zero of the ul Monroe
(59:46):
Wisconsin stuff, and I was very much you know, there's
still problems and what about this and what about that?
I mean, I don't know how many real doubters there
genuinely were, but I one of those people that needed
to see it to believe it, and uh, we saw
it tonight at Alabama with twenty four to twenty one win.
(01:00:06):
And I think to the point that Ryan brought up,
which is very interesting, the Kirby smart stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:00:11):
You know, you forget about some of just the the the.
Speaker 2 (01:00:15):
Manner in which he's lost some of those games to George.
I mean, there was, uh, you know the famous year
where what was it the it was a fake punt
with Justin Fields they lined him up as an upback,
and it's like even tonight, you know, I have to
go back and look at that series where they decided
to go for it on fourth down when they could
(01:00:36):
have easily tied the game.
Speaker 3 (01:00:38):
Just absolutely bizarre.
Speaker 4 (01:00:40):
But Alabama just seem like, I don't know what that
was like, I really like, I don't know what. You
Sometimes football is just simpler than you make it, and
it just felt like that was one of those moments
where you just outthought yourself and it's just there's no
reason to do that in that situation, and still that
was the decision that was made out that was baffling.
I'm serious, that's crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:01:01):
Yeah, I mean for to take it inside, you know,
inside whatever I texted you, I was like, what did
I miss? You see fourth and one on the screen.
You see a twenty four to twenty one game, and
obviously there's no guarantee that the field goal is good,
but they don't end up kicking and the rest is history.
So Fox Sports Radio erin tors Jason Martin, broadcasting live
(01:01:22):
from the Fox Sports Radio Studios, will come back, maybe
switch gears for half a second to you think the
college football slate was good on Saturday, wait until we
got it. Wait until we see what is in store
on Sunday where we'll discuss all that next busy Week
four in the National Football League.
Speaker 3 (01:01:39):
This is Fox Sports Radio. Welcome back, everybody.

(01:02:07):
over to Saga in a minute. I just saw one
more Bama Georgia stat. That's insane. So we mentioned that
Georgia was on a thirty three game home win streak
coming into this game, according to Cole Cubliic ESPN, one
of the best in the business. Alabama snapped a seventy
two game win streak or seventy two game streak excuse me,
(01:02:28):
in which Georgia never led at any point in the game.
So seventy two games since Georgia has gone start to
finish without leading. Alabama against the twenty four to twenty
one win. And now that I've stolen Steve Disager's thunder
here Disaga, the floor is yours.
Speaker 3 (01:02:47):
It's an up date.
Speaker 5 (01:02:48):
And Georgia, I'll point out, did fumble at about its
own ten in the second quarter, led to an Alabama
field goal, and Georgia loses by three at home Bama
twenty four to twenty one the final at all the
Bama points came in the first half. Cole with another
stat by the way that coach Kayln de Boor against
top ten opponents as a head coach seven and one.
Speaker 4 (01:03:07):
Thank you.
Speaker 5 (01:03:08):
Oregon won its top ten matchup at Penn State in
double overtime thirty to twenty four. Ole Miss upset number
four LSU twenty four nineteen wins for Ohio State, Texas
A and M and number eleven Indiana, which won on
a touchdown pass with about a minute and a half
left twenty to fifteen at Iowa. There's literally only one
game still going on in FBS college football. Colorado's at
(01:03:31):
home and in the third quarter leading fourteen to ten
still against twenty fifth rank BYU both touchdowns for CU
in the first quarter. Stanford got a late TD to
win thirty to twenty nine against San Jose State. Louisiana
late tonight won its Sunbelt opener in double overtime fifty
four to fifty one against Marshall, and Louisiana Tech won
(01:03:53):
thirty to eleven at UTAP. Louisiana Tech was up ten
to nothing going to the fourth. Cincinnati won its Big
twelve opener thirty seven thirty four at Kansas today. Kansas
State was one and three this season, but got a
home win against UCF thirty four to twenty. Oklahoma State's
now one and three after losing at home forty five
twenty seven to Baylor. Utah won today forty eight fourteen
(01:04:16):
at West Virginia. Memphis is five and oh after a
win at Florida Atlantic. In fact, thirty one points in
the fourth quarter for the Memphis Tigers. So fifty five
twenty six was the final. North Texas five and oh
after beating South Alabama Navy four and oh. After defeating
Rice UCLA oh and four, it was down at Northwestern
seventeen three at the half, seventeen to fourteen Northwestern the final.
(01:04:39):
Minnesota won at home thirty one twenty eight over Rutgers.
Among the many other games, the one that started the day,
Illinois beating USC thirty four to thirty two on a
field goal on the final play. Sc had taken the
lead with two fourth quarter tds. Overtime win for Tennessee
at Mississippi State, overtime win for Jorian Tech at Wake Forest.
(01:05:01):
In the NFL, Jets quarterback Justin Fields is out of
concussion protocol. He'll start Monday night against Miami. He practiced
fully all week. Miami tight end Darren Waller is gonna
make his team debut. Bengals tight end Noah Fant is
out with a concussion Monday against Denver Broncos Titan Evan
Ingram will play after a bad back. The Giants place
kicker Graham Cano on injury reserve. Giants running back Tyrone
(01:05:24):
Tracy could miss multiple games with a dislocated shoulder. The
Ravens plays Pro Bowl defensive tackle Nondi Matabike on ir
with a neck injury. Forty nine Ers quarterback Brock Purty
will be returning to play Sunday after the tow injury.
San Francisco's backup quarterback Mac Jones is cleared to play
after a knee injury. Washington QB Jaden Daniels is still
(01:05:44):
out tomorrow with the spring knee, and wide receiver Terry
McLaurin out with a quad injury. Minnesota QB JJ McCarthy
still out with the bad ankle. The Minnesota Vikings are
playing in Dublin early tomorrow morning against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Vikings will be playing in London the next Sunday
morning against the Browns. Yes, they're just staying in Europe.
(01:06:05):
Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy return Sunday after the dislocated shoulder.
Rams wide receiver DeVante Adams is listed as questionable with
a bad hamstring, but his coach was confident Adams can play. Sunday.
Bears running back DeAndre Swift questionable with a hip injury.
He was limited in practice again this week. Dallas wide
receiver cd Lamb out with the high ankle sprain. And
(01:06:26):
in case you didn't hear yesterday, Rio dejan Earra will
host an NFL game starting next year. The contract is
for at least three games over the next five seasons.
There the league played in South Paulo, Brazil this year
and last year. Melbourne, Australia is going to have an
NFL regular season game next year.
Speaker 3 (01:06:41):
Back to you, Thank you very much, Steve Sager.
Speaker 2 (01:06:44):
This is Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Saturday into Sunday
air towards Jason Martin broadcasting live from the Fox Sports
Radio studios. Segall be back in a minute. He just
mentioned there is one game still going on BYU has
just taken a lead in the third quarter seventy to
fourteen in Boulder over Dion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes.
(01:07:05):
Should mention, by the way, not just a game once
in a generation of at the Harlem Globetrotters are celebrating
their one hundred year tour. Come be part of a
legacy that never stops. Be there when history is made.
The Harlem Globetrotters one hundred Year Tour. Get your tickets
today at Harlem Globetrotters dot com. Jmart, we talk so
much college football, you know, we don't have a ton
(01:07:26):
of time to talk NFL here, so let's just hit
on a few things and we'll spend most of hour
three on the NFL.
Speaker 3 (01:07:33):
We can talk all the big games in hour three.
Speaker 2 (01:07:35):
But you know one game that I wouldn't describe necessarily
as big, but probably relatively significant, New York Giants hosting
the Los Angeles Chargers a one pm Eastern start time.
It is also the debut of Jackson Dart. Fun fact,
you go back to two weeks ago, I asked you,
(01:07:55):
I said, Jamhart over under on Russell Wilson career starts
going forward. The number I gave you was three and
a half. He got to two before he was benched
by the New York Giants. Not to say that he
won't or can't start any more games going forward, but
his career probably done, at least as a mainstream starter.
He got any thoughts on Jackson Dark going into a
(01:08:17):
game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday afternoon.
Speaker 4 (01:08:21):
Well, I mean, measure your expectations. But at the same time,
you know, Dabile probably wanted to do this a week
or two ago, but it's the only way he's going
to be able to maintain his job. And if Dart's
not good, I don't know what you do there. But
what were you getting out of Russell Wilson? He was
(01:08:41):
a stopgap to begin with, and then that performance that
we saw against Kansas City was about as bad as
you could see, Like, it was unwatchably bad that offense.
I mean, Malik Neighbors didn't even get the ball thrown
his way. I don't think until the fourth quarter. I
know that because he was on my fantasy team. He
did not have a particularly standout night. And it takes
(01:09:04):
effort to make it so that that guy is basically
not able to do anything for your offense. You have
some things, you have some dynamic talent there. You've got
Scattabo that might be able to do a little bit
for you as well. But there's no reason not to
make this move now because you're not getting anything out
of Russell Wilson. It's not like you're gonna get a
guy that's going to take you into the playoffs, take
(01:09:25):
you give you a chance to win a Super Bowl.
And if that's not the case, then go ahead and
put in Jackson Dart and let's get him. Ready. If
you're a Giants fan, you're already ready to see him.
And you know, the only thing I would say is
just the expectations have to be measured. There's going to
be some good, there's gonna be some not so good
most likely as well. But this is your best chance
(01:09:46):
for the future, and you might as well go ahead
and turn that page now, because all you're doing is
basically putting your entire franchise into a malaise, into a
holding pattern of sorts, and that's just not a good
place to be. And if you're Brian David, you can't
afford to do that.
Speaker 2 (01:10:02):
Yeah, you know you and I have talked about it
with a producer ian through the weeks. I wonder I
think Brian Dab will probably want to do this, maybe
even a week or two before it actually happened.
Speaker 4 (01:10:10):
Probably. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:10:11):
Yeah, I don't really have a ton to add. I
don't know what to expect. I just know that it
can't get worse. And I think listen, you know, we
talk about this all the time with rookie quarterbacks. I
think it's creeping into college football now with nil. You know,
if Jackson Dart's not ready, you know, that's kind of
on him, like like, you know, you're drafted in the
first round and the expectation is in twenty twenty five
(01:10:32):
that you're ready to go, and so it can't be worse.
Speaker 3 (01:10:35):
I'm excited to see, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:10:37):
The one thing I will say, like all the training
camp stuff, and I know it's a completely different deal,
you know, once the season starts, but all the training
camp stuff, you know, Brian Dable raved about him. You know,
something that is worth noting. They do play the Saints
next week, so it may have made more sense to
wait one more week. To counter to that is that
(01:10:58):
game is on the road, so of course instead he'll
at least get a home start to open his career.
So yeah, I have no nothing else really to add
to that. I just think it's kind of an intriguing,
intriguing subplot. Really quickly, and we'll preview the big games
in hour three. We're on until two am Eastern time,
(01:11:18):
Thursday Night Football one let me ask you this, are
the Seattle Seahawks good and I don't And here's here's
I think they're good, and I've been a critic of
Sam Darnold. The counter to that is their wins are
at Pittsburgh Saints, Cardinals, Cardinals. Two wins are Saints and Panthers,
(01:11:40):
So I don't know how good they are. Are you
a believer at all in Seattle or is this just
a soft schedule to start the season.
Speaker 4 (01:11:48):
If it depends on what you mean by a believer.
I'm not saying that I don't believe in them at all,
but I think there's a ceiling to that belief just
because not because I don't think it's possible, just because
there's no real evidence to back it up. Yet. You're right,
the opponents do have something to do with it, but
it's hard to win in the NFL. And Donald, to
(01:12:12):
his credit, has played well and you know they found something.
Jackson Smith and Jigg has been good for them as well,
and they've run the ball pretty effectively. A defense has
been decent. So I mean there's a lot that you
can kind of look at and say, yes, there's some
likable stuff. The Rams, the Niners are battered and beaten,
so that's trouble. The Rams are not any kind of juggernaut.
(01:12:34):
Even you know, they found a way to lose a game.
I can't believe they found a way to lose last week,
even though it was against the Eagles, and then Arizona's
just Arizona. So do I think they could sneak it
into the playoffs even potentially compete for that division? Sure,
I just need to see it. That's like Donald has
played well, but I need to see him play well
at the end of the season. He hasn't really had
(01:12:56):
many opportunities to prove that yet, but in a lot
of those circumstances, he has kind of floundered, to say
the least. That's why he's not still in Minnesota, one
would think, because he would have still given you a
better chance there and you found a way to go
ahead and turn the page. Anyway, He's I think he
has already outperformed what some might have thought there, But
(01:13:18):
I don't know that the pressure is on him yet.
Like now, I think he's got some weapons. They might
have a decent coaching staff for him as well there,
So you know, that's a similar circumstance to what they
had in Minnesota. Maybe not quite as dynamic, but in
a division, I think that might be much more winnable,
especially considering all that we have seen as it relates
(01:13:39):
to the injuries in San Francisco and just kind of
I still don't trust the Rams because I don't trust
the health of Matthew Safford.
Speaker 2 (01:13:48):
Real quick, we got about a minute here before we
get back to the Sager. I asked you about an
hour ago, can you explain why Kirby Smart just has
an Alabama problem? And I don't know that you had
an answer, because I don't know that anybody has an answer.
So I'll ask you another question that has no answer.
Marvin Harrison Junior.
Speaker 4 (01:14:07):
Yeah, I don't know, man.
Speaker 2 (01:14:09):
Yeah, he was better in the second half of that game.
But something's not quite right there.
Speaker 4 (01:14:13):
D I don't know if it's I don't know if
it's a connection with Kyler. I don't know if it's
an organization. I don't know if that, I don't know
what it is. Like that dude seemed effortless, effortless at
Ohio State, and I understand college is different than the pros,
but he's just not translating to be much of anything,
not anything consistent. You're right, he did come alive there,
(01:14:35):
but like I'm waiting to see him play like a full,
complete four quarters where he's a real threat. Like I've
seen him drop a lot of balls. I've seen him
just not kind of fight for balls. I mean, he
fought for everything at Ohio State. I don't know what
it is, but something is clearly not not what you
would inspec not what you would expect at this point.
Speaker 2 (01:14:54):
Absolutely agree, the Seattle Seahawks get to win on Thursday
Night football to open a busy week four in the NFL.
We'll come back, We'll get to Disager, He'll get you
ready for Week four. And then we still got till
two am Eastern to recap an insane night of college football.
And oh, by the way, look ahead to Case Baltimore,
Green Bay, Dallas and much much more. But Disaga is

(01:15:58):
he did not share in his last update to sagre
Go ahead, The floor's yours.
Speaker 5 (01:16:02):
My friend did get a lot of NFL notes at
the bottom of the hour, but one other thing. There
is a matchup and most of the country gets this.
For Fox TV in the early window on Sunday, it's
Philadelphia three and oh at Tampa Bay three and oh amazingly,
coach Nick Sirianni of the Eagles is one in three
in Tampa Bay in his career, and it's due to
(01:16:23):
be about ninety degrees there for this game. In fact,
quarterback Jalen Hurts, including playoffs one in four against the Buccaneers.
But that's the Fox game in the early window on Sunday.
As for the college football an astounding stat from Associated
Press on the West Coast because we had today USC
lowse and UCLA lose, and Washington lose, and Oregon was
(01:16:46):
this close to losing. Amazingly, those four schools have not
all lost on the same day since nineteen fifty six. Still,
that is crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:16:57):
Yeah, I was gonna say, because if it was like
a smaller window, I would have said, well, they naturally
played each other a lot through the years, so.
Speaker 5 (01:17:05):
But they would be playing on the same day almost
throughout every season all of these decades.
Speaker 4 (01:17:11):
Six.
Speaker 5 (01:17:11):
Yeah, and Oregon of course was you know, it was
a double overtime win at Penn State tonight thirty to
twenty four. Even more amazing is they were all four
playing conference games. These four schools, Oregon, Washington, Uscucla, they've
all been in whatever conference together since the nineteen twenties.
There's only been one day when all four of from
(01:17:31):
lost conference games on the same day, and that was
nineteen thirty seven. They were all playing conference games today.
But yes, Oregon did win in double overtime at the
team that was ranked number three this week, Penn State.
So updating another James Franklin State to stat the coach
in home matchups involving a couple of top ten teams
is still winless, zero to four, the most losses for
(01:17:53):
any coach in such top ten matchups since at least
two thousand. The late games going to the fourth core
where Colorado is leading twenty one seventeen against twenty fifth
rank BYU. We had a double overtime game Louisiana winning
at sun Belt Opener fifty four to fifty one. Late
tonight against Marshall. There was an SEC contest tonight South
(01:18:13):
Carolina at home thirty five thirteen over Kentucky with most
of the scoring in the first half. The Yukon Huskies
kicked a late field goal to win at Buffalo twenty
to seventeen attendance twelve thousand. The Buffalo Bulls had just
tied the game with about a minute to go, but
a win for Connecticut San Diego State. I heard the
end of this with Rich Hornberger on the radio. They
(01:18:36):
kicked a field goal in the final seconds to win six'
three At Northern, Illinois New mexico Beat New Mexico. State
liberty is one and four after losing At Old Dominion
Western kentucky four and one after a win At Missouri.
State hawaii does not have a late game tonight because
they're not at.
Speaker 9 (01:18:52):
Home.
Speaker 3 (01:18:52):
Hawaii you want to.
Speaker 5 (01:18:53):
Shootout at Air force today forty four to thirty, five
Air force zero to. Three in The Mountain, West Washington
state won twenty to three At Colorado, state and that
was the halftime. Score stanford scored late to Beat San Jose.
State if you didn't hear late last, Night houston came
back for an overtime win At Oregon. State Oregon state
is zero to five this. Season The Major League baseball
(01:19:16):
regular season ends On, sunday and there is no one
game playoff. Anymore all the playoff tiebreakers for a few
years now have been determined, mathematically so if there's a
tie for a division, title or just for postseason birth
or for, seeding it all comes down first to head
to head record between those teams during the. Year so,
today for, Example tigers won clinched at least a playoff,
(01:19:38):
Spot guardians won to clinch a playoff. Spot those two
still tied for first in The Al. Central that division
is going to be decided tomorrow on the final. Day
The guardians hold the tiebreaker because they won the season
series Against. Detroit this is A cleveland team that is
now nineteen and seven this. Month it's A cleveland team
that Starting september was down ten and a half games
(01:20:00):
in the. Standings the magic continued. Tonight this was one
of The FOX tv. Games cleveland one on a basis
loaded hit batter in the bottom of the ninth three
to two Over, Texas toronto and The yankees each. One
those two tied for first in The Al. East toronto
holds the. Tiebreaker and is it possible, that just Like
houston got eliminated tonight with a big, payroll that The
(01:20:22):
mets get eliminated tomorrow with a big. Payroll are The
mets not going to the? Playoffs they're tied with The
reds for the LAST nl, wildcard but The reds do
hold the.
Speaker 2 (01:20:31):

(01:21:19):
a crazy, day Crazy saturday in the world of college,
football and of course and potentially even Crazier week four
of THE. Nfl we're gonna Preview week four in just.
Moments Kansas city hosting The Baltimore. Ravens of, Course Micah
parsons and faces off with his former, team The Dallas.
(01:21:40):
Cowboys as De sega just mentioned at the bottom of last,
Hour tampa is hosting The Philadelphia. Eagles let's start with college, football,
though J, mart just one of Those saturdays that you,
know when you're sitting there on A saturday In, july you,
know Watching Cubs reds because.
Speaker 3 (01:21:59):
You just need some that on THE tv in the.
Speaker 2 (01:22:01):
Background you hope for saturdays like, this and, man oh,
man did we get?
Speaker 3 (01:22:05):
IT i guess let's. Start let's start a happy.
Speaker 2 (01:22:11):
Valley we'll start In Happy, valley a game that went
final as we went on, air one of the craziest
games that you. KNOW i, know we say this every
time there's a great, game but one of the crazier
games THAT i can ever, remember as far as you,
know we know what was at. Stake top ten. Matchup
Penn state has struggled in these big time showdown. Games
(01:22:33):
oregon up seventeen to, Thirteen Penn state rallies all the
way back to tie the game up at seventeen a,
piece heads to, Overtime we get to double. Overtime oregon,
scores misses the two point conversion fast, Forward Penn state
throws an, Interception Drew aller throws an. Interception oregon gets
(01:22:56):
the win In Happy. Valley thirty to twelve four is
the final. Score oregon five and o two and oh
in The big.
Speaker 1 (01:23:04):
Ten.
Speaker 2 (01:23:05):
Oh by the, Way Penn, state which was coming off
of the, buy falls to three and one and of
Course oho to one In big ten play.
Speaker 4 (01:23:14):
All credit To. Oregon that's a tough environment to go,
into And Dan lanning even, said you, know it became
a non. Factor as great as the environment, was he,
said it was. Incredible it just wasn't a factor because
they were able to take them out and, uh you,
Know Penn state's offense just could not get anything going
until that last ten minutes or so less twelve minutes
than there they scored quickly and then they had a
(01:23:36):
six minute drive and held onto the ball to score
late so that they could take that thing into. Overtime
and it just it turned out to be an incredibly dramatic.
Game but the one thing about it, was you, know
for a long time there it was three to, three
and then it became ten to. Three then you look
up at seventeen to, three and because of the way
the game was playing, out it felt, like, okay well
(01:23:58):
this thing's. Over and Then Penn state kind of woke
up and they had all the momentum and it's in
their building going into. Overtime For oregon to, win that
is a big time accomplishment and For Penn state it
is a big time issue because this is What Penn
state does. There you, know it used to be called.
(01:24:18):
Clemsoning now it's, well that's the Most Penn state thing
that could have. Happened thrown into triple coverage after coming
all the way back and you see people, saying, yeah
just why don't you just go ahead and lose seventeen
to three as opposed to ripping our heart out like. That,
look both these teams are. Good both these teams are
likely to be playing in a college football playoff at
the end of. Everything but the difference in this, game
(01:24:41):
if you wanted to just take one, position it was. Quarterback,
Look Drew aller had a lot more hype Than Dante,
moore But Dante, Moore Dan lanning said after the, Game
Dante moore is the best college quarterback in the country right.
Now he may be right because a lot of the
guys that we that got all the press and all
the pub before the, season it just hasn't worked out
in their favor thus. Far And Dante moore just continues
(01:25:04):
to show up make all the plays that his team
needs him. To And, Oregon, like if you were trying
to rank teams right, NOW i, mean it's. FUNNY i
assume one and two Is Ohio state And. Oregon, yeah
then you move from.
Speaker 2 (01:25:16):
There, NO i was gonna, say, listen and we haven't
talked About Ohio. State that was a low, key very impressive. Win,
yeah it was to go up To, seattle you Beat.
Washington it was never a game where it felt like
you were going to lose that. Game BUT i think
there's a compelling case on the. Road you, know five
and oh they already have two road wins in The
(01:25:38):
big Ten, oregon like you, said at, worst probably number
two coming out of the week coming into next, week excuse,
me probably Behind Ohio. State but just an unbelievable win to.
Me you, know it always sucks when you don't give
credit or maybe not enough credit to the team that
goes into the tough environment and. Wins BUT i think
(01:26:00):
a theme of our show tonight has been the story
Of Penn, state And Penn state now falls to four
and twenty one against top ten teams Under James. FRANKLIN
i dropped this stat In hour. One of the four
wins against top ten, teams two came in the twenty sixteen.
SEASON i, mean we're trying twenty. Sixteen the other two
(01:26:20):
were in A Rose bowl a couple of years ago
in which they Played utah and the starting quarterback For
utah got hurt in that. Game and Then boise last
year in The College Football. Playoff it's just it is
what it. Is but it also we have to it's
a great win For, oregon but it's a devastating loss
(01:26:41):
For Penn. State and, listen if they go on to
win the national, championship it's obviously a blip on the,
radar but, like what makes us think they're going to
do that at this?
Speaker 4 (01:26:50):
Point you?
Speaker 3 (01:26:51):
Know and SO i.
Speaker 2 (01:26:53):
Said it in our one is THAT i don't think
it's just you have. TO i don't think it's just
like it's nowational title or Bus, LIKE i think there's
a world where you can get into the college Football
playoff not win and it's still a successful, season not
by very, much BUT i think there is a. Scenario
but now you got to go To Ohio state in
(01:27:13):
a few, weeks and it's, like if you have this
season where you, go let's just, say let's say you
lose To Ohio, state you win every other, game you
go ten and, two you lose To oregon at, home
you lose To Ohio state at. Home you, know you
get into the playoff as a nine, seed and even
say you win a game and then you, lose like
that is a failure of a. Season, yeah given everything
(01:27:37):
that you brought, back all the conversation you, know because
remember coming into the season AND i know you, know
but for the, audience.
Speaker 3 (01:27:43):
You know, What Ohio state couldn't quite get over the.
Speaker 2 (01:27:46):
Hump they brought back everybody thanks to nil win a national.
Championship michigan two years ago got to the playoff but
couldn't get over that hump win a national championship in
twenty twenty. Three that was the narrative For Penn. State
and again just at some point you have to win
one of these games that. Matter James franklin, again four
(01:28:07):
and twenty one now against top ten teams just a total.
Speaker 3 (01:28:10):
Disaster so, YEAH i.
Speaker 4 (01:28:12):
Mean, look you said it. Perfectly it is a failure
if that's how the season plays, out because the expectations
are not that you're gonna lose every game of, importance,
yep and you're gonna win everything. Else there's a lot
of coaches that can go Into Penn state and do.
That there, are AND i understand That franklin has won
a lot of games, there but four and twenty one
(01:28:34):
against those, opponents it's gonna. Stick it's gonna continue to.
Stick and that's why the storyline coming out is that
because that's the narrative About Penn. State that's always the
talk before a big game, is, well are they gonna
get this? One because they don't get these very. Often
have they finally turned a corner getting to The College
Football playoff last, year winning a, game you, know and
(01:28:56):
then bringing everybody, back are they gonna be there? Again
and here's another opportunity and they have it in their
building in prime time with everybody watching on one screen
while they've Got georgia And alabama on the other. Screen
and what do you? Do? Well you? Lost you lost
at home to a, confidence a good. One it's not
a shameful loss ever to lose to A Dan Lanning oregon.
(01:29:19):
Team don't get me, wrong but this is What Penn state.
Does they lose these. Games they show, up you, know
they have, talent and then they. Lose and then when
you look at the schedule that they've had up to this,
point that doesn't give you much to hang your hat.
On it adds more fuel to the fire that they
(01:29:41):
were overrated to start, with that they're overrated, again that
they lucked, out you, know all of those kinds of.
Things some of that may be, unfair but you cannot
change the. Story if if everything that's written comes, true
like you have to be able to erase the original
narrative in order to create a new, one and over
(01:30:02):
and over and over and, Again Penn state just writes it,
again the exact same. Thing the next chapter is the
same as the last. Chapter and that's unfortunate for a
lot of talented guys that have played At Penn. State
but going into the, GAME i Thought oregon was gonna.
Win and the reason why is Because Penn state loses these,
games especially Under James. Franklin we've been on record about
(01:30:24):
this in the. PAST i try to give them credit
BECAUSE i, understand you, know they work really hard there
and they do a lot of things, right but they
don't win these. Games and that's gonna continue to happen
because there's no reason you talk about The Ohio state. Thing,
yeah they could Be Ohio. STATE i won't be predicting.
It when they get into college football playoff and they're
(01:30:46):
playing against somebody that's fairly equal to, THEM i won't
be predicting that they win because usually when they're evenly
matched or, outmatched they're gonna lose every.
Speaker 2 (01:30:54):
Time, Well i'll tell you what a team that isn't
outmatch very, often but seems to have a little bit
of a bugaboo with the opponent they faced On. Saturday George,
Bulldogs Georgia bulldogs host the, host the host The Alabama Crimson.
Tide alabama with the twenty four to twenty one. Win
(01:31:19):
this one does feel a little bit. Different as crippling
and as crushing as it is For, georgia which falls
to one and eight Against alabama Under Kirby, smart the
opposite is true as, well which is If alabama had
lost this, game and certainly the manner. Mattered you, know
we Had Ryan follower on an hour. Two if anybody missed,
(01:31:40):
it go back and check out the. Podcast But Ryan foller, said,
Listen alabama fans are basically as realistic as you can
be in this this this new. Era in other, words they,
knew probably you're not getting Through september, undefeated but they
probably they assumed that The, georgia That georgia would be.
Speaker 3 (01:31:57):
The game that was.
Speaker 2 (01:31:57):
LOST i bring it all up to very simply say
they lose In week one To Florida, state but they
go To georgia get the win twenty four to twenty. One,
CERTAINLY i know they Beat georgia last. Year but to,
me this is unquestionably the biggest winn of the Kailnd boor.
Era they look like the team that we all thought
in the. Preseason Ty simpson was. Phenomenal but then the
(01:32:20):
other side is we got to talk About, georgia which
again is now one in eight under Against alabama Under Kirby,
smart and there's just a lot of narratives on both
sides in this.
Speaker 4 (01:32:32):
Game, yeah there. IS i, MEAN i do think it
is this. One you could almost fifty to. Fifty BUT
i think because of just The kaitlin De bor factor
and getting one of these on your side after the
way this season, STARTED i think it's a little bit
more about. Them but if you do want to look
at The georgia, side AND i made this point With
(01:32:53):
Ryan fowler when he joined us earlier in the, Program,
look they should have lost To. TENNESSEE i mean the
way that that game they got incredibly lucky with What
hypel tried to pull, off which just flat out didn't
work in the last minute to where they missed that
kick and then you go into overtime And georgia finds
a way to escape that. Game there have been a
couple of opportunities where they could have gotten got and
(01:33:15):
of course they finally did get got here Against. Alabama
they're both really. Good we could still see them in
a conference title. Game we could certainly still see them
both in the. Playoffs but this is a huge win
For alabama one BECAUSE i think this was the moment
where Ty simpson became a name that we're going to,
remember because other than The Florida state, game you look
(01:33:39):
at everything else That bama had done after that, point
nobody was paying attention to it because of the. Opposition
this was the moment where everybody was watching in prime
time and he stepped up to the plate and played
a very complete, football came and played within, himself had three,
touchdowns was careful with the, football had some swag out
there as. Well all of that played to it just
(01:34:02):
played to a really good night For alabama football where
it's just, like, hey you know, what the Evil empire
is not done for here quite. Yet, like if you're
not An alabama, fan their demise may have been exaggerated
just a little bit by a lot of people in sports,
media including, us because we weren't feeling particularly good after
(01:34:23):
That Florida state game. Either but This alabama, team we
all knew what kind of talent they, had AND i
think you were able to see. That going on the
road and winning Against. Georgia it's just not something a
whole lot of teams in the country can claim to have.
Done based on your stat. Earlier people hadn't done it
in nearly half a decade or more Until alabama pulled
(01:34:45):
it off On. Saturday so just a huge win for.
Them And Kirby smart's got to be just at, Home
like he may, say you, know everybody Loses tobama, Two
like you know it, happens BUT i bet you it
drives him, insane and he if he goes back and
watches the, film he's gonna need to explain to himself
why he decided not to kick the football late in
(01:35:09):
that game and trying to Catch alabama on their back,
feet trying to, quick you, know quick snap, them and
that thing went disastrously and then they.
Speaker 2 (01:35:18):
Lost really quick to button this, up because we do
have so MUCH nfl to squeeze into the last couple
segments of the, show we were it's an exciting win For,
bama but we were obviously on air for an equally
exciting win Against georgia last, year they end up losing
a week later To. Vandy not necessarily Just, vandy but bigger.
(01:35:41):
Picture you, know the issue For debor hasn't as weird
as it sounds been these big games against these really elite.
Opponents it's been the unranked. TEAMS i think four losses
to unranked teams over the course of the first twelve
thirteen games of his, career dating back to last year At.
Alabama do you think this is a a corner turning.
(01:36:01):
Win not from the perspective of they never lose a
game the rest of the, year the schedule's, tough, whatever
they still HAVE, Lsu, Tennessee, oklahoma on and. On but
more from the perspective of they have turned a corner
of they're just not gonna lose these weird games that
they're not supposed. TO i, know it's kind of, a you,
know a weird question to ask because there's not you,
(01:36:23):
know there's so much context that probably. Matters but, like you,
know we know the teams that win the games they're
supposed to. Do we know the teams that lose the
games that they're that that they're not supposed to. Do
you think they're now one of those teams that it's, Like,
okay they've gotten those weird performances out of their system
and game to game they're gonna be pretty.
Speaker 4 (01:36:42):
Consistent, No i'm not sure. YET i think one of
the biggest things is when you Play, alabama you're giving
them your best shot because you want to Beat alabama
because of what they've been in the sport Since Nick
saban took, over and you want to further try to
end that and Make Calyn devor's life. Miserable SO i
(01:37:02):
think That alabama is getting team's best shots the Way
georgia gets everybody's best. Shot you, know all of those
kinds of. Things SO i don't know. YET i think
we're going to need to see a larger sample size
BEFORE i feel that, way because it's a whole lot
easier to get up For georgia on the road than
it is you, know some of these opponents that you're
going to see in certain. Weeks the advantage to a
(01:37:23):
game Like vanderbilt is you can't take them lightly because
they will beat. You not only did they do it last,
year BUT i Mean Diego pabi had five touchdowns and
one rushing On. Saturday that's an undefeated football team that
is putting up big time points and it's going to
come in there with with some confidence and wanting to
(01:37:44):
wanting to prove themselves in a major. Way SO i
Mean alabama is going to have to pack a lunch next.
WEEK i think they will. WIN i, do and probably
convincingly because they have the talent to do. So but,
YEAH i don't know that it's fair yet to, say, oh,
yeah they've gotten all the weird stuff out of the.
WAY i don't think we're there. YET i think that's.

On it does feature a top twenty five TEAM byu
up twenty four to twenty. One we're under two minutes At,
colorado SO byu At, Colorado colorado has the ball inside
their own ten yard.
Speaker 3 (01:39:41):
Line we'll have to go to the length of the.
Speaker 2 (01:39:43):
Field to either tie it or obviously a score could
potentially win the. Game one forty nine, Left colorado has two.
Timeouts we'll keep you updated on that. One tell you, What,
jmart you, know it's been a busy day of college
football when we've barely touched on what is going to
be the best weekend of THE nfl season so.
Speaker 3 (01:40:03):
Far as we.
Speaker 2 (01:40:04):
Enter week, Four mary give us some music And ian
start us. OFF i THINK i know where we're probably gonna,
start BUT i will let you take us wherever you'd, like, Producer,
ian it's a safe.
Speaker 12 (01:40:14):
BET i think we are going to be starting with
The Baltimore ravens going To arrowhead to take on The
Kansas City. Chiefs baltimore's favored by two and a half.
Points who you, Got Jason.
Speaker 4 (01:40:26):
Man And i've got The. Ravens, HONESTLY i JUST i
feel like they have to. Win they've lost a couple
of close, ones and Just i've had some weird situations,
WHERE i, Mean Derrick henry is not somebody that fumbles the.
FOOTBALL i covered his entire career here In. Nashville that
dude did not fumble the ball much at. All and
he's fumbled in three straight. Games eventually that's going to
(01:40:47):
come to a. Close i'm still not sold at all
on What Kansas city is. DOING i just that game
we gets The giants with some unwatchable football On Sunday night.
Football So i'm very low right now On Kansas. City
SO i do Like. Baltimore the one Narrative i'll push
back on is the idea That baltimore's the loser of
this game is. OUT i don't think that's true in either,
(01:41:07):
case BUT i definitely don't think it's true In baltimore's,
case BECAUSE i, mean who is stepping in The steelers
that look mid at, best The browns who are not very,
good and The bengals Without Joe burrow for the entire.
SEASON i still feel Like baltimore is going to win that,
division which is going to put them in the postseason
no matter, what and they're still going to have their.
Speaker 2 (01:41:25):
Opportunity so BEFORE i get to my, PICK i will,
say on top of everything else you, SAID i think
tomorrow's a pretty important game For, casey not just because
of two and two versus one and, three but it
feels like a disproportional amount of will figure it out
is Like, WOW i mean don't forget Like Savior worthy's
heard and this and, that it's Like Savior worthy's. BACK
(01:41:48):
i know it's the first. GAME i know the season
won't be defined by, it but like he is kind
of what they are, missing and it is kind of,
like you, know if he doesn't provide what they are,
missing then there is no. Solution So i'm gonna say at,
Home Kansas city gets to Win. Baltimore of course on
(01:42:10):
a short. WEEK i know that they did play at
home On monday, night so it's not like a crazy travel,
schedule but you gotta go to kse The casey's credit
easily could have Beaten philly at home two weeks. Ago
i'm gonna give him the benefit of the. Doubt but
if the offense doesn't look, better more, explosive however you
want to describe, it With Xavier worthy back, THEN i
(01:42:32):
find it hard to find a world where this thing
gets turned around this year for The Kansas City.
Speaker 3 (01:42:37):
Chiefs by the, way that's, Fair, yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:42:41):
By the way WAY i, MEAN i would add real
quickly THAT i think the difference there Is Kansas city
has The chargers to worry. About, Yep at the very,
LEAST i don't think there is anybody For baltimore to
worry about in that division With Joe burrow injured and
that defense and just A steelers team THAT i JUST
i see them sputtering at some point pretty.
Speaker 2 (01:43:03):
Soon really quickly before we get back to. It ian
last college football game is about to go FINAL. BYU
i don't know how they got the ball, back but
they're up twenty four to twenty, one taking a. Knee
twenty fifth ranked team in the country goes To colorado
and gets the twenty four to twenty one. Win, ian go,
ahead what's the next game on the.
Speaker 3 (01:43:20):
Schedule let's go to.
Speaker 12 (01:43:21):
The sunday night Game Green Bay packers And Micah. Parsons you,
know it's his. Homecoming he's going back To dallas to
face The. Cowboys Green bay is favored by six and
a half. Points what do you, Think, Aaron.
Speaker 3 (01:43:31):
Yeah you know it was.
Speaker 2 (01:43:32):
Funny as we prep for tonight's, SHOW i was trying
to think, of, like what is the angle? HERE i
know that Green bay is obviously coming off a loss To.
Cleveland we Know cleveland has a pretty special. DEFENSE i
mean the angle is Obviously, micah but, like what is
the angle behind the, angle, LIKE i think Green bay
is a significantly better. Team dallas's defense is a train.
(01:43:53):
WRECK i don't think even though it's another road, game
Green bay is gonna drop two in a. ROW i,
MEAN i guess you know home, field you Know dallas
sometimes when they're, back they've had moments where just when
you're ready to give up on, them they have you,
know big. VICTORY i JUST i don't see. It dallas
is not, good especially on. Defense i'm not particularly worried
(01:44:17):
because The packers struggled offensively last week Against. CLEVELAND i
think Green bay. WINS i think they win pretty, convincingly
AND i, think you, know they're right back to, being
if not the favorite to win The Super, bowl one
of the top, two three four after what we See
sunday night In.
Speaker 4 (01:44:31):
DALLAS i, MEAN i Think dallas will show up in.
PRIMETIME i Think dak has played pretty well this. SEASON
i anticipate he will do that again and it will
not be. Enough mainly for the point that you made
about the. Defense The cowboys defense is JUST i, mean
it's a rusty gait at this. Point it's an, open stable.
Door it's easy to run through that. Thing AND i
(01:44:51):
do think That Green bay will be able to get
themselves right in, primetime mainly because they're just going to
be able to. SCORE i wouldn't know, That i'd say at,
will but fairly close to. ATWILL i, mean when you
look at what The bears did last, WEEK i Mean
Matt lafleur in that. Offense you know they have that take,
too and they have more talent there than the opposition
(01:45:14):
does to try and stop. Them SO i feel real
good about them covering and winning that game. Easily, HOWEVER
i do Think dak will play, well very.
Speaker 2 (01:45:22):
GOOD i let's keep it. Going we'll get to the
saga here in a few. Minutes what do you got
here for the next? One In, yeah let's go to this.
Speaker 12 (01:45:28):
One we got The Philadelphia eagles going To Tampa bay
to take on The. Bucks both teams are three and oh,
Here philly is favored by three and a half.
Speaker 3 (01:45:35):
Points, though what do you Think.
Speaker 4 (01:45:36):
Jmark short week For Tampa bay tough win Over. Houston
baker was banged. Up he was a warrior in that.
GAME i think they're going to Have Chris godwin, back
but you don't Have Mike evans for the next few.
Weeks as, Well igbuka is showing up and doing good
things for. YOU i just don't like this particular matchup
(01:45:57):
this week on the short week Against. PHILADELPHIA i Think
philadelphia kind of they finally got Aj brown involved in
the second half last, week SO i kind of think
they're gonna show up and roll in this. Game this
one just feels like the wrong time and a quarterback
In Baker mayfield that left everything on the field On,
monday And i'm not sure he's going to be one
hundred percent godwin his first game. BACK i just even
(01:46:20):
THOUGH i Like Tampa, BAY i really. DO i think
they're a good football. TEAM i just think this is
a tough, Ass so give Me philadelphia on the. Road.
Speaker 2 (01:46:27):
YEAH i don't really have any super amazing takes on
this one either or not. Either but you, know outside
of what you, said J, mart you, KNOW i just
look at it from a lot of the same perspectives you.
Did you, know, listen a lot of, people you, know
a lot of people have referenced, this But tampa with
essentially three last second, wins you, know you just at
(01:46:50):
some point he catches up with, you especially when you're
facing a team Of philadelphia's. Capabilities, philadelphia of, course just
so good defensively and and in my, OPINION i Think
philadelphia wins on the road In.
Speaker 3 (01:47:03):
Tampa yeah we.
Speaker 2 (01:47:04):
GOT i know those are the mar Keuy. Ones but
let's get to one more before we get to To. Sega,
Now i'd say this one's still A. Marquie you Got
Indianapolis colts AT La. Rams who would have said? THAT
i know you're, right you're, right but who would have said? It,
Yeah Danny dimes Led colts the three and oh. Cults
but they're, going LIKE i, said they're coming To Los.
Angeles rams are favored by three and a half.
Speaker 1 (01:47:23):
Points what do you guys?
Speaker 4 (01:47:24):
Think i'm not buying, it, Man i'm not buying The
Daniel jones is all of a sudden the answer from
The Danna. Jones, Look i'm not saying that he's not
a decent, quarterback, right BUT i don't think anybody ever
said that he was a. Scrub they just said he wasn't.
Elite AND i still think that's the. CASE i think
the difference right now Is Jonathan taylor is playing out
(01:47:45):
of his, mind and you know The colts, Are they're playing,
Smart they're not turning the ball over all that, much
and they're making some critical successful both decisions on the
sideline and execution on the late in these, games and they're.
Winning but Like I'm i'm gonna slow down The Daniel
(01:48:05):
jones FOR mvp bandwagon right, Now like let's let's back,
it let's back it, off let's. Wait we're at the
quarter pole of the, season not even quite. There as
a matter of, fact The rams lost one they shouldn't
have lost last. Week they could be reeling from. THAT
i tend to think that The colts magic is going
to end a bit and give me The rams in this.
(01:48:27):
Game i'm not like trying to throw all the cold
water On Daniel. Jones i'm just, saying let's slow down
before we put him In canton from three weeks as
The colts.
Speaker 3 (01:48:36):
Quarterback SO i think two things can be.
Speaker 2 (01:48:39):
TRUE i Think indie can rightfully be the favorite going
forward in THE Afc.
Speaker 4 (01:48:44):
North you AN Afc, south and yes they.
Speaker 2 (01:48:48):
Can, Yes and you, know there's there's an analogy to
make about being the tallest guy among short. WHATEVER Afc,
SOUTH Afc, south, yes is not very. Good BUT i
think you also look at it their. Wins of, Course
miami's a, Mess tennessee is a huge, mess and The
denver win was kind of. Fluky and so now you've
(01:49:10):
got to travel cross, country you, Know, rams like you,
said J, mark coming off that loss where they were
in complete control for virtually the entire, GAME i Think
indiana Or, indianapolis excuse, me goes on the, road AND
i do think it could get.
Speaker 3 (01:49:23):
Ugly all, Right i'll tell you. What we still got.
Speaker 2 (01:49:27):
One segment left to talk a little MORE nfl and
just a, busy Busy saturday in college. Football we'll get
to wrapping the show in half a, second but before we,
do final time this, Evening Steve, disaeger we got to
go ahead and see what is.
Speaker 5 (01:49:39):
TRENDING i believe what you're saying about THE Afc south
is that in the land of the, blind the one
eyed man is. Yes, okay, yes, yes Yes indy at The, Rams,
Yes colts Quarterback Daniel jones has only been sacked twice this.
Year The rams as a, team, though have twelve. Sacks
also at the same, time It's jacksonville At San francisco
And Trevor lawrence will not have to deal With Nick
(01:50:00):
boso's out for the. Year after the knee, injury And
Detroit's great offense is Hosting Cleveland's great defense On. Sunday in,
fact The browns have the number one defense in the
league so, far allowing only about two hundred total yards per.
Game there, are believe it or, not two games coming
Up monday, Night JETS oh and three At MIAMI oh
(01:50:20):
and three set THE. Dvr Justin fields is out of
concussion protocol and he'll start for The. Jets miami tight
