Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're listening to Fox Sports.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Well, that's right, you heard the man. It is that
time of week. My name is Bernie Froddle. We are
coming you live from the Fox Sports Radio studios here
in Las Vegas, and we will be taking you up
to three Pacific six am Eastern. We're just seven and
a half hours away from an NFL game, and Ireland
will get.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
To that in a bit jam pack show.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
We got a lot of things to get to, great guests,
lots of topics, phenomenal midnight hour. But I guess you
could safely say now that college football season is officially here.
Ye up on Saturday three at the top five go
down just like that Number three Penn State bam, James
Franklin dow four and twenty one versus top ten teams.

(00:50):
Number four LSU bam, and that Brian Kelly offense, you
know the one he got all pissed off and defensive
about last week. Still they couldn't score on Women's prison
with a fist full of fifties. Number five Georgia Bam,
Kirby Smart now one in five first Bamah see what

(01:10):
I did there, by the way, sixty three and three
against everybody else. Oh how about Kayla Debor remember the
guy you wanted to hang an effigy about four weeks ago.
He's actually seven to one now against top ten teams.
But I digress. Did I mention Penn State? Sure as

(01:30):
the sun rises in the east, Penn State does what
Penn State does.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
You know, I'll give him credit.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
You never hear about Penn State losing to the Appalachian
States of the world or the Northern Illinois. Not that
there's a great shame in that, but you never hear
about that, do you? They never They never blow the game.
They're supposed to win quote unquote cupcake, but they never
seem to manage to win the game. Everybody wonders if

(01:59):
they'll Yeah, I know, you can tell me. They got
to the playoff semi finals last year. They beat SMU
and they beat Boise State. All due respect to those squads,
they were severely overmatched. But the twoth of the matter
is Penn State does what Penn State does. And I'm
here for I mean, I texted my good buddy Joe Gibbs,
you heard him on the show last week or NFL
rough guy, I'm now for the game. Grab the Oregon

(02:22):
plus four. I said, Penn State is built to lose
this game, just I don't know, you don't know how.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
You just know they will.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
It's in their DNA. And what's interesting is you got
to overtime, and just when it look like Drew Aller
would maybe finally get that signature win and silence his critics,
he throws a pick and double overtime. That ended things
just like that and once again left the Penn State

(02:50):
faithful with more questions than answers. And it's the same thing.
It just regurgitates the same broken record of conservative play calling,
questionable decision making, spotty receiver play. What happened to the
three great receiver transfers? And by the way, for most

(03:12):
of the sixty minutes, that's where they were headed. They
had just sixty two passing yards through three quarters, but
somehow they managed to send it to overtime. Now I
get it, Penn State is very still much alive as
a playoff contender and a top twelve team in the country. However,
for James Franklin and the Nittney Allions, easy for me

(03:33):
to say Nittany Lions to get some national respect, they
got to be top top competition and Drew Aller. I
don't dislike Drew Aller. There's something missing there. They need
to maybe turn him loose and give him sixty minutes
of wide open play because he's yet to show that
availability or ability. Even in the playoff win against Boise State,

(03:54):
he threw fo one hundred and seventy one yards. Against SMU,
he threw for one hundred and twenty seven yards. See
where I'm going at. So, by the way, let's let's
not dis Oregon. They were the team on the other
side of the ball that went into that white out
and took charge. Now, Dante Moore is a kid out
of Detroit, a very familiar with went to Martin Luther

(04:16):
King High School. That's Oregon's quarterback, and he committed to
Oregon and then changed when the coat there was a
coaching change, and then went to UCLA. You saw that
worked out. So he decided to transfer back to Oregon.
But he did something kind of smart and very mature.
He says, all right, I'm not in a hurry. It's
not in a hurry to get there the quickest. It's
a quest to be there the longest. And so he said,

(04:38):
I'll sit behind Dylan Gabriel a year and learn and
and Dylan Gabriel sat behind bow Nicks. And by the way,
both those guys finished third in their husband voting in
their respective ten years, and they're now both in the NFL.
And Dante Moore says, yeah, I want some of that,
and he showed Saturday they's arguably the nation's top passer.
One hundred thousand people in a white out atmosphere that

(05:00):
might cause issues for somebody with lesser experience, but More
looked like he was playing seven on seven summer passingly
with the boys at the local YMCA, a lot of
pitch and catch. He completed seventy five percent of his
passes two hundred and forty eight yards and three scores,
added another thirty five yards on the ground, and helped
Oregon go five for seven on fourth down attempts, including

(05:24):
that crucial conversion in the first overtime. Don't go to
sleep on the Ducks. They brought back a bunch of
players from the team that won the Big Ten last year.
The biggest question was Dante More. He answered questions Saturday,
He's a dude. Drewe Aller take notes. Nothing against Due Aller,
take notes, James Franklin, take notes. This is just getting

(05:47):
so predictable. All right now, I was going to lead
with this new year, say the USC, why do they
keep trying to shove it up our TuS that this
team is different? You really thought USC had changed. Maybe
they have different faces year to year. But once again

(06:07):
the Trojans defense simply couldn't secure the victory and hold on.
This time they lost ALLLLNOI a team fresh off they're
sixty three to ten neil bider against Indiana the week before,
the allian and I ran over five hundred yards of
total offense and the Trojans before they finally kicked that

(06:29):
game winning field goal. By the way, the allian I
had two yards rushing against Indiana last week. They had
one hundred and seventy one against the Trojans Saturday. It
doesn't get much easier. They got Michigan coming up, they
got Notre Dame coming up. Forget the schedule. I got
nothing against Lincoln Riley. You know, I think Colin Carr

(06:51):
wants to have his baby. He just won't give up
with this guy. And you step off the bus, you're
gonna go. You're Lincoln Riley, You're gonn get two hundred
and fifty yards passing touchdowns? You know he could, he
could start, He could start Chad Power as a quarterback.
In his latest quarterback Jade Mayava took advantage of By
the way, did I mention that the ALIGNI had two
injuries and their secondary Mayava took advantage of at the

(07:15):
ULV transfer three hundred and sixty four yards through the year,
but it didn't matter. And by the way, you gotta
love this makayle Lemon kids, he's a literal cheat code
eleven catches one hundred and fifty one yards. He's like
the Trojans version of Puka Nakua. But Luke Attmeyer, who
had a terrible game the Illinois quarterback against Indiana. He
threw for three twenty eight. They couldn't stop him. The

(07:38):
Trojans couldn't stop him. That was never more evident than
on the final drive, as he allowed fifty five yards
in the last minute, fifty one to set up the
winning kick. Okay, the Trojans, they're going to score plenty
of points this season with Mayav and Lemon to stud players. However,
as long as the defense remains a liability. That's the
only hardware they're going to have a shot at. You know,

(08:00):
I think college football is better when se is good
and they're just not good. You want them to be.
You're telling me they're going to be, but you got
to prove it on the field. To this day, for
all the years I've loved and enjoyed and watched and
covered on an official capacity college football, the best.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
College football team I ever saw.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
And I mean it's not close with the nineteen seventy
eight USC Trojans. They crushed Alabama in Alabama that September.
We're leading twenty four to seven. Late Obama got an
excuse me touchdown.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
Won the Rose Bowl.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
All twenty two starters on that USC team played in
the NFL. All at all, the entire roster, forty two
players wore an NFL jersey. At one point, they had
two Heisman Trophy winners in the backfield. Marcus Sander was
the blocking back for Charles White. That team was the
best college team I've ever saw. I know, the Miami

(08:56):
people are nationally in their teeth right now, and Michigan, who, however,
whatever great city you're in, you said, yeah right now,
if they were you didn't see him. Actually think Lincoln
Riley's team could beat that team. Of course, then again,
most of those guys are almost seventy years old now,
so work with me. By the way, with all due

(09:17):
respect to Kirby Smart, it looks like Alabama still owns
your buddy, and Nick Saban isn't even standing on the
opposing sideline. But it's clear Kirby Smart has some kind
of Alabama problem. Smart now one in seven versus his
former employer, a hard fought three point wins Saturday, Bama
or Georgia could have won, to drop the touchdown pass whatever,

(09:40):
what does it matter? So what's the problem? I think
it often boils down to major struggles in the secondary,
and of course they can't slow down Bama's passing attack.
By the way, Georgia sends tons of defensive.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
Backs to the NFL.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
But when you've got Jalen Milroll throwing for three seventy
four against you last year, you got a problem. This
time it was Ty simpsons turn, first year starter. He
completely lit up Georgia like a Christmas tree in the
first half, two hundred and seventy six yards, passing two touchdowns.
Once again, somehow The Bulldogs looked unprepared for the jump,
had lost to home game since twenty nineteen. They're not

(10:18):
going to be sleeping a lot tonight in Athens, Georgia,
just the way it is Notre Dame.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
We'll see if they're back through.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
The first non SEC team to score fifty six points
versus an SCC team since Clemson beat South Carolina in
a similar score eight years ago.

Speaker 3 (10:37):
Ohio State.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
They just keep trucking again. It was a terrific college
football Saturday. It feels like college football is here. You know,
you got to trudge through those those first few weeks
where you got we hear how great USC is because
they're playing Missouri State and Georgia Tech or excuse me,
Georgia State or whoever the hell Harvey Thoris school of trucking.

(11:01):
Our sisters have uncontrollable flatults.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
And boh Bay.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
They look good. I look good. Then you put them
on the field with the big ten team who's expected
to contend, and you see what happens. You know what
bugs me to is because there was a time when
when the PAC ten was the PAC ten. Forget the
Pac twelve, The PAC ten was the PAC ten. They
played Big ten teams. The Big tens teams could not

(11:23):
match their skill, but the Pac ten teams absolutely matched
the Big ten's physicality never had a problem. I don't
know what happened. All the good kids and sol Kel
are leaving the state. Now the Big ten not only
matches their skill, they still continue to own the line
of scrimmage. All right, enough's enough. I'll take a deep

(11:46):
breath and soak my head. Now coming up. You know him,
you love and you can't leave without him. He's back
Steve Fenzick and the Physick five. So get your pens
and pencils ready. You're gonna be drinking through a fire hose.

(14:08):

Speaker 5 (14:11):
The time is not it's the Phasick five. These are
the five things you need to hear about them.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
Not with the only back to back Hilton Super Contest
winner Steve Feszig.

Speaker 5 (14:25):
Here's Bernie Frado.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
Well fas we get to talk offline, of course, but
it's great to have you back on the show. And
obviously with the response for getting People have been waiting
for this moment, So without further ado, let's do our
usual rapid fire, staccato lightning round will hit as many
games as we can because people love to hear your opinions.
We'll start out with a six thirty am kickoff the

(14:49):
Vikings and Pittsburgh will tee it up in Ireland, Minnesota
l in two and a half. They're getting Jordan Addison
back from his suspension. Meanwhile, I got ask you, Ifez,
you see what I'm seeing. Aaron Rodgers does look diminished
and the Steelers defense looks wildly your thoughts.

Speaker 7 (15:07):
No doubt. So Rodgers is only supposed to throw for
two oh four today, so very low number. Frankly, if
you would have talked to me on Monday, Bernie, I
would have said, I like the Vikings. I bet the
Vikings plus one. Well, now it's Saturday night and the
Vikings are linking two and a half, and you know
this could go to three. I made the game Vikings
mis two. So at the current number of two and

(15:27):
a half, I think it's fine to tease Pittsburgh upward.
Maybe we'll get a plus three. By the way, Pittsburgh
has a buy upcoming. That's been a very positive situation
for teams having upcoming buys. Four teams qualify. Pittsburgh, Green Bay, Atlanta,
and Chicago have their buy next week.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
And those are all excellent points. And I know that
Mike Tomlin has been sensational as an underdog in his career,
But when I compare the two rosters side by side,
Pittsburgh scares the heck out of me. I just I
grabbed the send off line and you know, probably closer
to a pick them. So we'll see what happens. I
feel like it's the Vikings game to win, one of

(16:06):
the games people are talking about a lot because no
one predicted that the Colts would be undefeated. They visit
Los Angeles, where the Rams are three and a half
point favorites. Interestingly enough, Indianapolis fez the first team in
NFL history to score on their first ten possessions of
the season. Meanwhile, the Rams pass rush well alive and
well they lead the NFL with twelve sacks. Your thoughts

(16:28):
on this game?

Speaker 7 (16:29):
So I played it over forty nine and a half.
It says my square ball as play of the week,
and I've got opposition. People are playing under on it.
So it's still at forty nine and a half. And
here was my handicap. It's not just that Indy, as
you mentioned, it's been so good and scoring so many points,
but both they and the Rams have played a scheduled
chock full of lower scoring teams and yet they're still

(16:49):
putting up really big production. So because of that, I
would expect a shootout here to occur. So I am
on the over forty nine and a half.

Speaker 2 (16:59):
I feel like there is going to be points in
that game, and you have nice weather conditions and all
those things as well, So you know, a non divisional game.
I don't think you're off on that one at all.
The Commandos visit Atlanta. Atlanta does feature the number one
ranked past defense in the NFL, coming off sparkling thirty
to nothing lost to Carolina. Meanwhile, Washington has the NFL

(17:24):
best five point seven yards per play and they're catching
a point and a half at Atlanta. If you don't
like the Commanders, might that be a teaser spot your thoughts?

Speaker 7 (17:35):
No, because Atlanta's gonna blast them.

Speaker 5 (17:37):
And here's whoa Okay, okay, here's why.

Speaker 7 (17:39):
So Washington isn't playing today flash tomorrow the backups are playing,
and so a good move and not playing your quarterback
scary Terry's not playing a wide receiver. And Atlanta qualifies
in a confluence of good trends. Not only do they
have a buye next week, they just lost, as you mentioned,
by thirty plus points. And it turns out when an

(18:00):
NFL team loses by thirty plus points they do very
well in a bounce back role the next week, and
especially with their buy upcoming, I expect a fully focused
effort from Atlanta. By the way, Cincinnati and New Orleans,
or the other two NFL teams that qualify and that
lose by thirty, they should bring it this week. Atlanta
just fired their wide receivers coach. Whenever coach gets fired,

(18:22):
I always like that, it's sending a message to all
the staff and the players. It's time to put up
or shut up. Atlanta by ten, we're not going to
tease Washington.

Speaker 3 (18:31):
Sounds good.

Speaker 2 (18:32):
I'm not involved in that game in the least, I'll
be rooting for you on the sidelines. I just can't
back Atlanta for any reason, honest to god, I just
there's something about that team. They put the moloica on me.
Every time I bet them. I'll tell you the team
I did bet I grabbing him for half a unit,
the Browns catching nine and a half against Detroit. I
got it when it was ten. Okay, Brown's feature the

(18:55):
number one rush defense only allowing fifty seven yards per game.
By the way, have the fourth range rushing offense at
a buck forty nine per game. However, I really do
like this Cleveland defense and Detroit coming off that sensational
Monday night trouncing of Baltimore. They own that game physically,
and I think they come home, you win, get in,

(19:16):
get out, get nobody here.

Speaker 3 (19:17):
I think this game's tight. Your thoughts.

Speaker 7 (19:19):
I think you can play unders in this game, like
Cleveland is a great defense, bad offense, and I do
think Detroit will be happy to just get the win.
I would have played Cleveland. But there's a trend out
there that makes sense if you win as a big
underdog and then you wheel right back as a big
underdog again. Human nature, you're looking at that two game
stretch and you're like, boy, I really want to win

(19:40):
one of these games. And Cleveland managed to do it
against Green Bay, so they might get blasted here. I
don't think it'll be high scoring. I'm going to look
at individual players to go under in this game, especially
the running backs because of the good rush defenses.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
Well, that's another excellent point if you went out right
as an underdog. They beat Green Bay out right last week.
But I feel like that's baked into the cake. This
is a pretty heavy duty line. But you know your
points well taken. I just think the Browns are better
than people realize. They had Cincinnati beat week one and

(20:14):
just pissed it away completely, so interesting. I only got
half a unit on it, all right, A game that
was going to catch a lot of attention because one
of these teams is going to be one and three
and if you're asking me, who's well, there's no such
thing as a must win on September twenty ninth, or
whatever the hell it is. But Baltimore that line up
to two and a half at Kansas City. I think
Baltimore needs it more than Kansas City. Here's a team

(20:36):
that scored one hundred and eleven points to their first
three games, which is an NFL record with teams with
the losing record. By the way, Kansas City, you have
to find their rushing attack only three rushing touchdowns this season,
and two are by Patrick Mahomes. But there's no way
in hell I'm going against Mahomes and Kansas City, especially
when they're getting points at Arrowhead, which I still call Arrowhead.

Speaker 7 (20:58):
Your thoughts on that game, yes, spot on, Hey, Kansas
City as a rush game, it's called Patrick maholtons. They've
got to tucket and run and do it in a
desperation mode. We go back to the movie Wall Street
in the nineteen eighties and Blue Star Airline is free
falling until the stock hits a certain price, and then
simultaneously everybody who's buying for the other corporate raiders says

(21:20):
says by say buy it at sixty. Well, the buy
number on Kansas City is three. We are all waiting
for plus three minus one ten to appear, at which
point bye bye bye. You know we'll we'll go ahead
and invest in casey in a game that should be
very close. Find if tease Kansas City in this game.
Also if the three never appears.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
Well, and as you know, says Pator, Mahomes kind of
owns Lamar Jackson.

Speaker 3 (21:47):
He's five and one against him career head to head.

Speaker 2 (21:49):
Jackson nine touchdowns, seven interceptions, mahomes fifteen touchdowns, three interceptions.
I can go up and down the line with the stats,
but it's like the old Casey Stegle line. Teams can't
beat the Yankees because it gets stuck staring at the
Penn stripes. I think. I think this Baltimore team, By
the way, if you go back to last year, they're
already one in three. This could make them one and four.
I think they're sinking under the weight of their own expectations,

(22:11):
and I don't think they're comfortable. Any final thoughts on
that game, because I don't think the number is going
to matter. I think case he wins out.

Speaker 7 (22:17):
Right, Yeah, I got But Birdie likes Cleveland doesn't like Baltimore.
Go back and look at that Week two box score.
Even though Baltimore won by twenty four, Cleveland actually won
the stats to some crazy turnovers, etc. So Baltimore's overvalued,
Cleveland is undervalued.

Speaker 3 (22:31):
Good point, excellent point.

Speaker 2 (22:33):
All right, another team, another game featuring a team I'm
very high on also getting points at home, the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers and Baker Mayfield catching three and a half
at home. Now the Bucks are undefeated, They're not overwhelming
anybody three wins by a total of six points. Meanwhile,
the Eagles eighteen point comeback versus the Rams last week

(22:55):
their largest in thirty seven years. I don't think that's
a positive. I feel it's a negative. I feel like
Tampa Bay wins this game. Outright, your thoughts.

Speaker 7 (23:03):
It's the Phony Bowl, two teams that have three and
zero records, but both teams could have lost not just one,
but several games. Someone mentioned, I think it was Bill Simmons, said, oh,
you know, the Eagles, maybe they were a little fortunate
last week. Yet think so. I'm still with a Ram
hangover from last week. I'll tell you this with Tampa.

(23:23):
Tampa had won the deepest receiver corps in the country
to start the year, and now look what's happened. Then
when Mike Evans is out, God, when comes back, he's
not going to be one hundred percent. Their rookie wide
receiver has been great, but he's been nicked up. Their
fourth wide receivers still hurt. So they've gotten from a
point of strength to an absolute point of weakness. Baker
is doing it with smoke and mirrors, Bernie, Someone's going

(23:45):
to win this game. Whoever wins we're going to bet
against next week.

Speaker 2 (23:50):
You mentioned the Rams game and it's a bad memory.
I was sorry to crack Man yesterday. And so you know,
you're you're you're covering by a point. We've been better off.
They just missed the field goal, right, But the guy's
got a blucket. Why does you run for a testdown?
Why doesn't it you just fall down like a good
American citizen and win the damn game.

Speaker 3 (24:09):
But what you trying to do here.

Speaker 2 (24:11):
You talk about it is that maybe the worst beat
you've seen in recent times.

Speaker 7 (24:16):
Well, going back to the Belk Bowl. You can look that.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
Oh yeah, I know I know about that. That was
back in like twenty thirteen or twenty four. But fez,
the Rams were always they're leading like twenty three to
six at some point whatever.

Speaker 7 (24:30):
You never you know, there was the Bahamas Bowl where
Western Michigan I believe, trail like forty nine to thirteen
and and wound up covering or vice versa. So if
he gets right up there though, way why I can't.

Speaker 2 (24:42):
Deal with comebacks. But the way that happened at the
end like that, my goodness.

Speaker 7 (24:48):
Thanks for bringing that up. That was my one weak
that last week.

Speaker 2 (24:50):
Yeah, well, but you're not alone. You're in good company
the books. The book's got new chandeliers this week because
of that game. Maybe it was a public dog, the
old public dog warning. All right, Cincinnati visits Denver. This
is sort of a referendum game for both teams because
the Bengals are coming off their largest loss by thirty

(25:14):
eight points in franchise history. They're last in the NFL
in total offense, only averaging two hundred and twenty yards
per game. Meanwhile, the Broncos have scored eight touchdowns and
only given a four. But yet they have a losing record.
But they're laying a pretty heavy number on Monday night
eight and a half. Your thoughts on Denver Cincinnati?

Speaker 7 (25:34):
Yeah, so, since he has a great running back, Chase Brown,
he can't get more than two yards per carry. The
old line is in shamble for the Bengals. I cannot
invest in them, but the spot is so good that
they will off the thirty plus point loss. I would
be remiss not to mention you said this is the
worst loss in Bengal history. One of the greatest wins
in Bengal history. They once beat the Houston Oilers sixty
one to ten. Sam Whites kicked the field goal with

(25:56):
eight seconds to play.

Speaker 8 (25:57):
They asked him.

Speaker 7 (25:58):
Why he did it. He hated the Oilers. He responded,
I didn't think we had enough time to get the
ball in the end zone.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
It's right, say Munch, who also famously grabbed the microphone
and said, stop throwing snowballs. This isn't Cleveland at Cincinnati.
It's right, the great Sam Whites, all right. I don't
know what kind of game this is going to be.
Sunday night, the pack Green Bay Packers with Michael Parsons

(26:25):
coming home, the homecoming lay in six and a half.
Jerry Jones famously said, this week, I'll recall us winning
a Super Bowl with Michael Parsons. Here's what's interesting, Faiz
about this game, and I couldn't wait to talk to
you about it. Eighty two percent of the bets are
on Green Bay, but fifty seven percent of the bets
a handle, excuse me, are on the Cowboys. And there

(26:46):
were some sevens out there. Would you do you dare
grab Dallas plus seven?

Speaker 9 (26:51):
No?

Speaker 7 (26:52):
You know, I bet green Bay right after the Parsons
trade came down, actually laid to it up. But I
still would lean Green Bay miles six and a half.
But here the lesson on this game. On prop bets,
I would bet Parsons to get a sack. And I
think one thing you can do, and if you like
betting on the NBA, this applies to every sport. Burning
If you get a player that is unhappy with how

(27:13):
the organization treat them and he goes to a new organization,
that becomes his game of the year. He hasn't focused.
And so in either the NBA or the NFL, et cetera,
when you have a situation like this, you want to
bet on that player and proposition bets.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
All right, I want to talk about a couple other
games quickly. Here the Niners three and zhe nine ers
laying a short number against I think a pretty good
Jacksonville Jaguar team, even though Travis Hunters yet to show
the great stardom He's okay, but he haven't. But the
Niners surprisingly right. They lead the league in passing yards
per game. They're in every offensive category with the exception

(27:50):
of rushing. They're doing pretty well defensively. Their status are
pretty good. Kind of a short number here, though, Do
you have a thought on the Niners Jaguar.

Speaker 7 (28:01):
You know it's where I make it, but you might
mention Travis Hunter. I've gotta feel Bernie that eventually they're
going to figure this out Jacksonville. They're going to say,
just play defense. It's just too hard in the NFL
right to play both on offense and defense. So I'm
gonna I think when that starts happening, there's going to
be a window opportunity to play him under for pass
reception yards. I think I'm going to do it this week.

Speaker 2 (28:22):
All right, let's come home to Vegas here where the
Raiders host the Chicago Bears. This feels like a coin
flip game. I don't like either team. I realized that
Caleb Williams had a coming out party last week.

Speaker 3 (28:35):
Great, you did it once.

Speaker 2 (28:37):
I can't. I just can't buy into the Raiders with
all the holes they have. Do you even waste your
time on this game? Or are you seeing something that
I'm missing?

Speaker 7 (28:46):
You're not missing anything because you just told me how
to wager on this game. Whenever there's a game that's
pick him, and you said, I don't really know who
should be favored, right, I will let the odds maker
dictate who I'm going to wager on because who. It's
not that big of a deal zero versus two on
a point spread, But when you're teasing the game and
are getting another six points, it makes all the difference

(29:07):
in the world. Look at Arizona. I know Arizona's not
the game we're talking about. Two weeks ago, Arizona against
San Francisco, both teams were favored throughout the week, very
close game, one point game. Then the next week Arizona
against Seattle, who should be fair, I don't know who
should be favored. Game winds up going to overtime. Here's
the point, it's going to be a really close game.
I would have been perfectly happy teasing the Raiders from

(29:29):
plus one and a half up to plus seven a half.
But now the Raiders are laying one and a half
to two points.

Speaker 5 (29:34):
Fine, Now I'll.

Speaker 7 (29:35):
Tease the Bears with some other partners, including the Pittsburgh
Steelers in the game that's going to kick off in
six hours.

Speaker 3 (29:42):
I thought of that as well.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
And would you think about teasing Denver down below a
field goal? Because Denver is better than they've shown, and
I think Jake Browning is his services will quarterback. But
you've got to bake that into the cake too. If
Joe Burrow was starting, I think this line would be four,
not eight and a half.

Speaker 7 (29:58):
Is that fair three and a half?

Speaker 10 (30:00):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (30:00):
Absolutely so.

Speaker 11 (30:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (30:01):
Denver is a very good teaser homework. Go get Stanford
Wong Sharp Sports Betting. He'll play exactly how to bet
the teaser. There's an entire chapter on teasers. Do not
pay more than six point teaser NFL. The maximum you
can pay, however, is minus one twenty five, and that's
already steep. You really have to get them at minus
one twenty.

Speaker 2 (30:20):
If you can get it. There's usually I see minus
one thirties out there, So.

Speaker 5 (30:24):
Not like they used to have them anymore.

Speaker 2 (30:26):
No more. Yeah, not like it used to be. And
it was minus one ten. But the books got smart,
as they always do. Has any final thoughts about NFL
Week four?

Speaker 7 (30:36):
Oh my gosh, I we get the book. He's mad.
The books don't get smart.

Speaker 12 (30:39):
They do.

Speaker 7 (30:39):
The books get beats, and then they then they realize
how dumb they were, and they make adjustments. As far
as you normally have a great best bet, et cetera.
I would play the teasers this week. I think it'll
be teasers are doing great, Bernie. I would keep playing
all these Wong teasers. Get Stanford Wong's book.

Speaker 2 (30:54):
He'll explain it all, which we both have, Sez, great stuff.

Speaker 3 (30:59):
We'll get you.

Speaker 2 (31:00):
I know we don't do this every week like we
used to, but which you get you on again before
too long because people love hearing your stuff.

Speaker 7 (31:05):
So we're gonna We're gonna wheel the Bears, the Pittsburgh
Steelers and the Denver Broncos in two team teasers, three combinations.

Speaker 2 (31:12):
Thank you, Bernie, Thanks Fez. That's Steve Fsik Phasik five,
the only two time back to back winner of the
prestigious Hilton now Westgate Super Contest. By the way, for

time zone, perhaps the same for you. But it is
literally the midnight hour, no matter where you may be
calling from, whether it's London, Tokyo, which we've had calls from,
or all around.

Speaker 3 (32:12):
The United States.

Speaker 2 (32:14):
It is figuraedly the madnight hours means you get the
last word eight seven seven nine nine six six three
six nine eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.

Speaker 3 (32:23):
I'll set the topics coming up next.

Speaker 2 (32:26):
I'm Bernie Fradderwick Comedy Line from Las Vegas, Fox Sports
Radio Studios. Keep it locked. You're listening to the Bernie
Frattle Show on Fox Sports Radio. How We're back at
the Bernie Fradtle Show Fox Sports Radio. In fourteen minutes,
the clock will strike midnight and we'll be taking your calls.
Eight seven, seven, nine nine six there's threet six nine

(32:48):
eight seven, seven nine to nine on Fox. And the
callers are what make this men in Hour segment so great.
We've been doing it for just under two years and
it's been terrific because of the callers. So let's set
the topics up. The first one, I want to talk
about this new kickoff rule in the NFL. I've been
meeting to bring it up, and I hate it. I'm

(33:12):
just telling you my opinion. I hated and if you're
an Arizona Cardinal fan, you're gonna hate it too, because
I think it costs you the game on Thursday night.
And here's why. First of all, you know they implemented
this for safety. It's stupid. You got to stand. The
players all stand there. The kick still originates from the

(33:32):
thirty five yard line, but the players line up at
the receiving team's four yard line. The receiving team has
nine players on a setup zone, and both neither group
of players can move until the ball hits the ground
or a player in the landing zone or the end zone,
or they receive it. And here's where this gets crazy, okay,
And this is what costs Arizona if you kick off.

(33:56):
And first of all, the landing zone in quotes is
the area between the goal line and the twenty yard line.
So if you kick off and the ball lands short
of the landing zone, the receiving team takes possession of
throwing forty yard line. That's what happened Thursday night. Arizona
had that game. A normal kickoff. You kick it off,

(34:17):
you cover the kick, you get your ass down the field.
They used to call it the suicide squad. They don't
do this in high school. They don't do this in college.
The NFL say they're worried about safety, but they want
eighteen games a season, all right, So I hate it.
I wanted to go back to the old kickoff. So
a kick landing short of the landing zone results in
the receiving team taking the possession of throwing forty yard line.

(34:37):
So if you're the opponent, if you're Seattle, you say, okay, great,
we only got to go twenty five yards. We kick
a field goal. Goodbye. Where they might have covered that
kick and burred Seattle on their own five. A kick
landing in the landing zone must be returned, but if
a kick lands in the landing zone and bounces into
the end zone, it can be returned or down for
a touch back of the twenty yard line. Then, if

(34:58):
a kick lands in the end zone instead and bounds
or goes out of the back of the end zone.
Then the team receiving the kickoff gets the ball at
the thirty five yard line.

Speaker 13 (35:09):
So you.

Speaker 2 (35:11):
Know, you'll remember what the old kickoff look like. Suicide
squad screaming down the field. I want to go back
to that. I don't like it. By the way, fair
catches are prohibitive on kickoffs, and an on side kick
must be declared to the officials. It can be attempted
at any point in the game only if you're trailing.
Only if you're trailing. Now, the new rules aim to

(35:35):
increase kickoff returns and excitement while quote improving player safety. Okay,
there may be a few more kickoff returns. I don't
see the excitement, and I don't know if the player
safety is panning out. So I really want to get
your thoughts on the kickoff. I guess it's not totally due.
We had it a little bit now, but it's new,
kind of new. If you get my drift, I hate it.

(35:55):
Eight seven seven, nine to nine on Fox number two.

Speaker 3 (35:58):
All right, here we go.

Speaker 2 (36:00):
Bots are coming to Major League Baseball next year. Get
ready for it.

Speaker 3 (36:04):
All right.

Speaker 2 (36:05):
It's called the ABS, the Automatic Ball Strike Challenge System.
It was approved a week ago by the Competition Committee
and every team will get two challenges plus one and
extra innings if they've used their challenges all right, Now,
what does that mean means if you think it's a
ball and it was a strike or vice versa, a
hater can challenge it. I'll pay trick can challenge it,

(36:26):
and a catcher can challenge it and believe it. They've
been hashing this out in the minor leagues for years
and they think they've got got it down to a science,
no pun intended. And they're not worried about baseball going
to a slower pace after all the changes they've made
to speed up the pace, because they claim, well, during
spring training, the average spring training challenge only took thirteen

(36:48):
point eight seconds. So if both teams use all their challenges,
that's fifty seven seconds per game average. That's going to
link in the game. Well, I don't know any delay
I hate, but I guess you could live with it.
I don't know what it does to pitch for amy,
which catchers are taught to do. The truth of the
matter is it was challenged a lot in spring training.

(37:12):
And I hate to say it, but half the time
every time a catcher challenged it, the call got overturned
fifty six percent of the time. Every time a pitcher
challenged it, the call was overturned forty one percent of
the time. Hitters basically fifty to fifty. Now a catchers
expert at judging the strike zone, they're going to have

(37:33):
a competitive edge. No more judgment calls because if you
challenge it, you go to the robot system and the
fans are going to be able to watch these on
the scoreboard.

Speaker 5 (37:43):
So baseball thinks thinks.

Speaker 2 (37:46):
This is going to be fan engagement. It's going to
be fun. You can find out the same time as
the players, was a striker a ball? What do the
umpires think about this? Well, they knew it was coming. Okay.
Umpiring is improving because umpires are trained with the help
of technology, but they want to get it right. Most
of the time they do, and it's just one of

(38:07):
those situations where every time, again on average, yumps got
it right every time it was challenged forty eight percent
of the time, which means they got it wrong about
half the time. So if your help bat, I'm everything
being perfect, well, then I guess you'll like the robot
ABS system. So for the first time, and what one

(38:27):
hundred and forty nine years. The umpire is no longer
the judge, jury and executioner when it comes to balls
and strikes. They're no longer the final word. The ABS
challenge system is here. It's coming. It's been done in
the minor leagues. It was done in spring training. Get
used to it. It's inevitable. They think it's a good
thing for baseball. It's been tested in spring training and

(38:48):
it's been done in the minors. I don't like it. Again,
maybe you do. So you got the new NFL kickoff rule,
which I hate. I explained how I think it costs
Arizona gain. I like it. When you blast the ball,
you make them return it, you try to bury them.
You can cover these kicks, the balls in the air
and they're all standing around. It just dands counterintuitive to

(39:09):
anybody who's ever worn a football uniform. Number two robot
umps abs the challenge. Okay, it's here. Do you like it?
And I just explain how it's going to work, and
they say, you know, each team is going to get
two challenges and then one each extra innings. And the
challenges in spring training only took fourteen seconds.

Speaker 3 (39:29):
If that continues.

Speaker 2 (39:31):
That means, okay, still waiting around an extra fourteen seconds,
but if it's four times a game, it's going to
only link in the game less than a minute. So
just saying, okay, fans, we can handle that right. Sip
on your beer. The third topic, we had something interesting
happen when cal Raley hit his sixtyth home run the
other day. You know, if you've ever been to a
ball game and a file ball flies into the stands,

(39:53):
people rush around and clankheads and they look like a
bunch of whirling dervishes over a stupid baseball. They want
that ball, but imagine a signature ball like Mark McGuire's
home run ball or Barry Bond whatever. The fan who
caught cal Raley's sixtieth home run ball last Wednesday night
pulled an incredibly classy move after doing so, all right,

(40:15):
and this is a big this is a ball because
Riley became just a seventh player in history to hit
sixty home runs, first ever catcher to do it, and
the first ever switch hitter to do it. Meanwhile, the
fan reached over and handed it to a young child. Amazing.
He got a standing loud ovation. Have you ever caught
a ball. Would you give a signature ball like that

(40:36):
to somebody or would you drive a hard bargain? We
saw what happen with the O Tani home run ball
a couple years ago. That turned into a mess. So
there you have it. Those are your midnight hour topics
eight seven, seven, nine to nine on Fox.

Speaker 3 (40:47):
Let's hear it from you.

Speaker 2 (40:48):
It's the Bernie Fraddle Show on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (40:52):
You don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (40:55):
That's right, you heard the man. Bernie Fraddle Show keeps
rolling right along. My name is Bernie Fraddle. We are
coming to your line from the Fox Sports Radio studios
here in Las Vegas. Just kidd the starter. Taking up
to three m Pacific sixty eight Eastern, six and a
half hours away from NFL resumption Week four from Ireland,
we set up the Benet Hour topics.

Speaker 3 (41:15):
I hate the new kickoff rule. They get costs.

Speaker 2 (41:18):
He Arizona Cardinals a game Thursday night thanks to this
goofy landing zone. Robot ops are coming to Major League Baseball.
Get ready for ABS and the Challenge system. I explain
how that all works. At a very classy move by
a Fantasy Seattle after catching the sixtieth home run ball
by Cayl Rowley, the first ever switch hitterdy hit sixty,
the first ever catcher eight at sixty.

Speaker 3 (41:38):
Gave it to young fan.

Speaker 2 (41:40):
No fighting, no teeth dashing, no holding him up for
half a million dollars.

Speaker 3 (41:44):
Well, the phone lines.

Speaker 2 (41:46):
Are jams, so we're gonna get to you. Yep, it's
time for the Bennett Hour eight seven seven nine to
nine one fox eight seven seven nine nine six six
three six nine. That's here from you. We begin with
Steve in Los Angeles. Steve, thanks for checking in tonight
the Bernie Fraddle Show. What have you got for us?

Speaker 11 (42:01):
Good morning, Bernie?

Speaker 5 (42:03):
How are you doing well?

Speaker 2 (42:05):
Thank you?

Speaker 11 (42:06):
Hey. I'm going to be uncontroversial on your first two issues.
I'm dinner with you. On the uh the football issue,
the kicking issue, I would go back to the old method,
and same with the second issue. It's the third issue

(42:35):
that I have that it touches my heart and it
harkens back to just an older time and what I
guess I'd like to think a little more sentimental and
compassionate time. The clouds are so often trying to rip

(42:59):
balls away from children, and so this really is the
kind of thing that you live for, and the whole
sportsmanship and the way the game should be and the
way people should be. More often, my issue is that

(43:21):
I'm ready to drown myself over Lincoln Riley.

Speaker 2 (43:26):
I just can't bear You're a USC guy, You're your backer, right.

Speaker 11 (43:31):
I'm a USC guys.

Speaker 2 (43:33):
I don't believe you, man, Jesus go ahead.

Speaker 11 (43:36):
I can't bear this guy's he reminds me of the
guy's name slips my mind, but he was at one
time uh Houston Rockets and and was with the Lakers
for a while, but him and his brother just were offense, offense, offense,
and got nothing of defense that I can't call the guy's.

Speaker 2 (43:58):
Name thanks to my producer, Mike D'Antoni producer credit.

Speaker 11 (44:04):
So you know, I'm aware of Riley since Oklahoma, and
he brought nothing of defense then and just almost you know,
trying to boat race everybody. And he was fairly good
at that. But I don't know whether he's as good
at the USC. And USC has just lost so much
pret seeds over all of their eras. They've had some

(44:28):
down times, but I have no idea how to how
to bring them back. I don't know who could bring them.

Speaker 2 (44:35):
It's all about recruiting Steve and getting all three phases.
I appreciate the call, thanks so much. On's here for
me again. I would just say this, what hurts now
most se fans is that there were genuine expectations. Didn't
fooled me. I got to you know, don't tell me,
show me. But but you bring up some excellent points.

(44:56):
It's all about expectations now. And you still got the
likes of Notre Dame Michigan. I looked at their schedule.
It's it's not easy. Jim in Massachusetts. What are your
thoughts on our topics tonight?

Speaker 14 (45:06):
Hey, how you doing?

Speaker 13 (45:07):
Bernnie jen Off? The kickoff? I'm with you. I mean,
just to leave the game the way it is. The
more they change it, the more they ruin it. So
I'm with you on the kickoff to keep things simple.
You know, I hate that just looks weird.

Speaker 2 (45:21):
The balls in the air and standing around.

Speaker 13 (45:24):
I know it's that's stupid. As far as the mechanical
balls are strikes.

Speaker 12 (45:29):
You know what, we.

Speaker 7 (45:30):
Don't need that.

Speaker 13 (45:31):
We got to keep the regular umpires human era. All
that it adds to the game, the drama, all the
different things that happen in the World Series and playoffs
and games throughout the years that are still being talked
about because of the human error factor and stuff like that.

Speaker 12 (45:46):
But what happens if the power goes.

Speaker 13 (45:47):
Out and they can't get the mechanical balls and starting
thing to keep working.

Speaker 2 (45:51):
Yeah, listen, I like what idea well and the human
factor listen, uh. I played monor League baseball as a catcher.
Other players.

Speaker 3 (46:00):
They have different tendencies. They line up differently.

Speaker 2 (46:03):
They see somebody obvious see the low pitch better, some
see the away pitch better. Some mumps are fat, some
mumps are skinny, some are tall or short. I think
you factor that and if you do your homework, but
continue on.

Speaker 13 (46:13):
Yeah, that's true. Just two more things on the ball
to the kid. You know what? The world? The world
needs more human kindness.

Speaker 2 (46:21):
Love it really loved it.

Speaker 13 (46:23):
Things ever happened.

Speaker 2 (46:25):
Especially now, it's stay on the line. Especially when you
saw the Karen in Philadelphia four weeks ago. Rip the
ball from the kid and get that guy's face, and
the guys say, here, take the damn ball.

Speaker 3 (46:36):
This is the opposite of that.

Speaker 2 (46:37):
I was going to have that as a minute our topic,
because they'd screw it, but continue. I didn't mean to
interrupt you.

Speaker 14 (46:42):
No, No, that was good.

Speaker 13 (46:43):
That's what the world needs, is human kindness. But I
just want to go off the rails just the last time.
Did you watch the last Detroit.

Speaker 3 (46:50):
Game the Tigers?

Speaker 13 (46:52):
Yeah, I know, the Lions.

Speaker 3 (46:54):
Oh absolutely, Hey.

Speaker 13 (46:57):
I feel so good for that kid, Hutchinson kid that back.

Speaker 3 (47:00):
Yes, if you watch him.

Speaker 13 (47:02):
Does he have a metal rod in his leg from
the break?

Speaker 3 (47:05):
He won't say, but I believe it's yes.

Speaker 2 (47:07):
And when he punched that ball loose from Derrick Henry,
that was like that was like a real feel good
moment for him.

Speaker 13 (47:13):
Right, he has a metal rod and it's like my
broker or leg playing soccer that way and they had
to put in a metal rod. But I watched him.
He has his power rush, he can pivot. I mean,
it didn't look like, you know, there's any problem. And
he like he's twenty four years old, right, twenty three,
twenty four leg?

Speaker 2 (47:32):
Yeah?

Speaker 13 (47:32):
Yeah, yeah, God bless him that he's back and he's
you know, and knock on wood that he stays healthy.
Because I felt so good for him because when I
was watching that, I was thinking about my daughter broke
a leg. He's got a rod in there and he's
out there playing and hasn't lost of stuff. I just
you know, thank thank goodness for him.

Speaker 12 (47:51):
Michigan.

Speaker 13 (47:52):
Right, he played at Michigan.

Speaker 2 (47:53):
Right, Yes he did, Yes, he was championship.

Speaker 13 (47:57):
We'll go get him.

Speaker 12 (47:58):
Bernie good good.

Speaker 2 (47:59):
Stuff is always him. And of course you remember Jim.
Former Red Sox manager Don Zimmer had a rod plate
in his head and they asked him about it once.
He said he on a good night.

Speaker 3 (48:08):
I get the radio station in Pittsburgh.

Speaker 2 (48:09):
I love Don Zimmer. Face to looked like a block punt,
but what a great manager. Ron and Rochester Joint. Just
welcome in, Ron, How are you hey there?

Speaker 15 (48:17):
Hey, I got a picture of me and Pedro Martinez.
Best picture ever in Mimi Bek.

Speaker 2 (48:22):
Yeah, Pedro grabbed him by the head, threw him around
his body, took a bad hop and they say that
Pedro called him the next day to apologize.

Speaker 12 (48:31):
Ron.

Speaker 7 (48:32):
I met him.

Speaker 15 (48:33):
He was the nicest man ever. He's head to his
boat and I was heading my buddy's boat.

Speaker 14 (48:38):
Took a picture with me.

Speaker 15 (48:39):
He was the coolest guy ever. And I could be
the best picture ever. Also, Hey, listen, and I told
you I'm the man to save sports radio. I got
to give you a minute to tell you how I
saved sports radio.

Speaker 14 (48:49):
About the box.

Speaker 15 (48:50):
Don't know, don't care at all about the classic move
by that guy getting the ball, but I don't think
you know how much that ball was worth. But you
know it was a classic.

Speaker 3 (49:01):
Listen.

Speaker 15 (49:01):
In high school, I was a fast kid on my
football team, but I was one hundred and fifty pounds
in five to ten. I'm six two to ten now,
and I was a strawy. The coach who wanted me
to return kicks, and I was like shaking my head
like Jerry Seinfel refusing pie because I was scared shit
with the guys running fust speed and hit me. And

(49:22):
I have no problem with the new kickoff thing because
you can't have guys running full speed and killing each other.

Speaker 14 (49:29):
It's bad.

Speaker 15 (49:29):
And there's still a little bit excitement. And these guys
are all hitting seventy yard kicks. If they can't land
it in the in between a little twenty and the
goal line, I mean, give me.

Speaker 3 (49:39):
A break, That's all right, right, I accept that.

Speaker 2 (49:42):
I accept that ron because kicking is a skilled position,
and the kicking the special teams phase can win and
lose a game, and maybe it's just on that kicker.
He should be practicing it all day. I appreciate the
alternative opinion.

Speaker 5 (49:56):
Anything else, Yeah, so I listen.

Speaker 15 (50:00):
Nineteen eighty eight, I just graduated in Syracuse and I moved.
I was working for an advertising agent. Think funny thing
was I knew I was an economics major. So one
of my accounsels McDonald's New York City, And just before
I got there, we had bought WFAN a whole bunch
of radio spots, and they were about to cancel it.
And in my whole department, eight women and me, and

(50:20):
I'm like, we can't cancel it. So for like week,
two weeks, two weeks, I campaign to keep it, and
I kept the buye with McDonald's. And I'm the one.
I gotta find that Doug and tell him I saved it,
because you know the early days of radio station Madduck
didn't think this last. In two weeks, if I would
have canceled McDonald's, they would have been done. I saved
sports radio and you and everybody else the shot told me.

Speaker 2 (50:44):
Well, thank you, appreciate it. Ron, We're still here. Have
a good evening, Poppy and San Diego.

Speaker 9 (50:49):
What's up, buddy, Heyboddy, I'm just excited, you know, talk
sports buddy. I'm hopefully you're doing good. And look on
the first one, man, I just think Roger Goodell, he
he copied the XFL. You should have just sticked to
the form. And I don't know why you're a copycat, like, oh,
it worked on the XFL, Why are you putting it

(51:09):
on the NFL? Like no, Like these kickers work hard
for the strengths. And I don't know why I did that,
but I guess it's a coffeecat league. And then I
felt not surprised about that. On the second one, on
the on the baseball, I mean technology, I mean, I guess,
like I said, copycat league, like the team like it's
like that is now when you can see the replay
and everything like that. Yeah, I mean, I guess that'll

(51:31):
be cool to watch your game engagement. But I mean,
I guess robbers are taking over, you know with play sports,
yeah sports, and the and the third one, I guess
they's the best for last in my opinion. Look, he
caught the ball and he kept it to the kid,
which is nice not considered like the turn and fighting

(51:52):
for it. I think that only happens in like Seattle.
And then actually he actually met the player and got
some silver, some a slag from a bat sign and
everything like that, which was a nice chester. But if
you ask me, Bernie, hey, what would I do, I'll
tell you what I would do. Bernie, I'm at the
right place, right time, to be honest with you, I
got it. I was at the right place that's most

(52:14):
like a lot of money, where you could buy a house,
you could see a doubt pinion, and I would honestly
hold on to that bar and and and negotiate, or
if I have to get an agent, if I had
to hire you, Bernie, I'll hire you and you tell
me what do you think I should do it? Because
that ball has a lot of value and you can
make a lot of money. So that's what I would
personally have done. I would have hold on to the

(52:34):
ball and and not not given it away. And I guess,
uh talking about sports, But tomorrow, I'm just excited for
the NFL, uh, Bernie, and what you're going to talk
about it and the games. But my favorite games that
I'm excited at, Bernie, I guess the Packers against Jerry Jones.
Well it's like a soapbox, but like is Michael Parson's

(52:55):
gonna good revenge on Jerry Johnson.

Speaker 2 (52:57):
He's gonna try. He's been talking about.

Speaker 9 (52:59):
It, so I'm really excited about that one. You know,
I personally think that he'll get RiVax.

Speaker 2 (53:07):
But we'll see what happened, all right, Poppy, and good
luck to your potters. I think they visit the Cubs
in the wild card round. Tyler and Seattle joined us next.
Welcome in, Tyler, Thanks Bernie.

Speaker 16 (53:18):
So yeah, the NFL has like, out of all pro sports,
they have.

Speaker 14 (53:21):
The dumbest ideas.

Speaker 13 (53:23):
So the kickoff is the worst.

Speaker 16 (53:26):
Like it's just ridiculous because I.

Speaker 17 (53:29):
Mean I used to take kickoff and JV I don't care.

Speaker 16 (53:32):
They run as fasts they want.

Speaker 12 (53:33):
I'm trying to score touchdowns.

Speaker 16 (53:34):
So that's always so much fun.

Speaker 2 (53:36):
You know what funny real quickly, I'm sure you remember this,
Terrell Davis owes his career to covering a kickoff in Japan.
He was ready to quit the team. They thought they
were gonna caught him. He goes rushing down the field
in an exhibition game and blows the guy up, and
they said, who is that, And he ended up making
the team, and I realized it's dangerous. Football inherently is dangerous.

(53:57):
It's just that if you're not doing it in high school,
and they're not doing it in college, and it's supposed
to stop injuries, and it's supposed to create more kickoffs
and excitement, I've not seen the excitement. I'm seeing people
standing around. Go ahead, you continue on.

Speaker 16 (54:09):
Yeah, No, they don't want to get lit up. You
don't call a fair catch right otherwise it's this game on.

Speaker 2 (54:13):
Yeah, that's yeah. You have to be within a certain
area though, to hold the fair catch right most yeh, yeah,
I mean if you, if you, if you, if you,
if you, if you, if you catch it in the
landing zone, you gotta run. You can't continue on.

Speaker 16 (54:28):
Yeah, you got to buy it.

Speaker 17 (54:28):
So number two with the AI MLD, I mean I
like it a little bit, but it takes the art
of framing away from the game.

Speaker 2 (54:35):
That's part of it. That's part of it. Yes, catchers
learn the frame.

Speaker 3 (54:38):
Yep.

Speaker 17 (54:38):
That's always interesting, you know, you know catchers stealing strikes
and stuff.

Speaker 16 (54:41):
So I mean you like that when it's your team
that's getting them.

Speaker 2 (54:44):
Although people will say could you only have two challenges
a game. You frame as much as you can to
get away with it, but eventually you figure one or
two of them are going to get challenged.

Speaker 13 (54:53):
Been doing a super job attack you know, got in
this season, yep.

Speaker 16 (54:57):
And you know number three on the Cow home.

Speaker 17 (55:00):
I mean, shoot, if the ball's coming to me, the
balls coming to me, and that's actually.

Speaker 16 (55:03):
Cal's ball, So I'm gonna try to give it back
to him.

Speaker 12 (55:06):
But I've been to negotiating for like some sweet tickets
you get.

Speaker 2 (55:09):
Yeah, you know, probably would get.

Speaker 16 (55:11):
I'll talk a little man if he's right there, and
if he's all sad.

Speaker 17 (55:14):
You know, I'm like, okay, well let's get you a
signball because you know whatever, give me your number.

Speaker 2 (55:17):
Oh yeah, that's not a bad idea. You're a little
guy too, man.

Speaker 16 (55:21):
Yeah, but it's no, I'm not going to just give up.

Speaker 17 (55:24):
Maybe that's the last one of the season, and you
know Cow's gonna want that, so, I mean, I don't
I'm not going to hold it out for like four
point five million, right, but but let's talk to the
team and let's let me get some sign here from everybody, right,
you know, give me.

Speaker 12 (55:38):
Some bride woof stuff that guy.

Speaker 16 (55:40):
He's the heater this year, so all all right, buddy.
And lastly, I'm just so proud of you know, Duke.

Speaker 12 (55:46):
They showed up against Syracuse, big win, Notre.

Speaker 17 (55:52):
Dame, went to Arkansas and just smashed those Razorbacks and
I was not expecting that. So I mean, pass off
to those guys and then laught they ole miss Let's
go sec Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 3 (56:00):
All right, thanks a lot, tyler. We are off and running.

Speaker 2 (56:03):
Charles and Texas, Stephen Kansas City, Jeff in Denver, and
Bryce in Texas. Hanging there you are up next, I'm
going to get to all of you very much. Look
forward what you got to say. By the way, be
sure to check out DraftKings Sportsbook, an official sports betting
partner of the NFL. Right now, use the promo code

We're back of the Bernie Frattle Show Fox Sports Radio,
come to you live from the La Vegas Fox Sports
Radio Studios. The midnight hour is well underway. We're talking
about the new kickoff R. I think it sucks. Had
a couple of callers bring up a good point, maybe
an alternative opinion. Robot umps are coming. ABS look forward
coming to a city near you. The umpire will no

(57:10):
longer have the last word, at least a couple.

Speaker 3 (57:12):
Times a game.

Speaker 2 (57:12):
Each team has two challenges and a very classy move
by a Seattle fan who caught cal Rally's sixtieth home
run ball Back out to the phones were joined by
Charles in Texas. Charles, thanks for hanging on.

Speaker 3 (57:24):
Welcome in.

Speaker 8 (57:25):
Well, I haven't been listening to show very long, but
I like it a lot what you said about that.

Speaker 7 (57:29):
In the MNGE.

Speaker 13 (57:31):
Thank you anyway.

Speaker 8 (57:34):
I never was a Cowboy fan until Jimmy Johnson came
to town, and my favorite games in the eighties when
Dwight Clark in Montana putting Nae Flanzy Snake. The next
best game when the Bears came in in eighty five
and beat the Cowboys in their studient.

Speaker 12 (57:51):
I remember.

Speaker 8 (57:53):
So I'm not a Cowboys fan, but I'm hoping they
get stomped tonight. A lot to see it, Nason Wide,
that's gonna get joy too.

Speaker 2 (58:02):
Well, the the likelihood is it probably about a seventy
percent chance it's gonna happen, but we'll see yep, go ahead.

Speaker 8 (58:08):
Well, I didn't see the Netflix show. But no, Curry's
taking all the credit for the.

Speaker 7 (58:12):
The herschel Walker trade.

Speaker 14 (58:14):
So it wasn't a piper.

Speaker 8 (58:15):
Jimmy assistant coaching for jogging, and that's where he got
the idea. And I guess Jerry sound yeah, you know, yeah,
I have not.

Speaker 3 (58:24):
My wife and I were going to watch it. We
just haven't watched it. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (58:27):
I don't dislike Jerry, but you know, he screwed that
Jimmy Johnson thing up so bad. Charles back in ninety four,
I gotta believe if they'd kept Jimmy, they'd have won
at least two or three more Super Bowls.

Speaker 3 (58:37):
They won one with Barry Switzer.

Speaker 18 (58:38):
With Jimmy's players, well, I don't think there was every
one one with that Jimmy, I agree, he built the
ground up.

Speaker 2 (58:46):
And and and then Jerry Jones at that banquet, you know,
the following winner says, oh, fifty guys get to coach
that team.

Speaker 3 (58:52):
When that got back to Jimmy Johnson is that it's
not gonna work.

Speaker 8 (58:55):
So Charles down here is second Super Bowl giving and
his coaches were having a little private deal some club
out there there. Comes to Jarry. You know, I knocked
out a few drinks and he wanted to join the party,
and they said, I don't know how they told him,
but they said, this is our party. And then Jerry
was ranking somewhere else. He said, I can get one
hundred and fifty coaches to coach this team.

Speaker 3 (59:16):
Yeah he did.

Speaker 8 (59:18):
I mean there is a business man, you know. That's
what he did.

Speaker 2 (59:24):
That's why else tonight, Charles, huh anything else tonight?

Speaker 8 (59:30):
Well, that's why I want to tell you. That's why
I'm not Jerry Johnson the Hall of Time.

Speaker 12 (59:34):
He went into the businessman.

Speaker 8 (59:36):
They were reading negotiating the TV.

Speaker 2 (59:37):
Contracts, you know, just to be fair and maintain my objectivity.
He's actually quite popular among the NFL owners and he's
made the money the league a lot of money he
really has.

Speaker 8 (59:47):
Well that's why thank you in the Hall of Time,
because he negotiated that contract where they were talking about
one hundreds of millions and they started talking about baying
you know from the he you know.

Speaker 2 (59:57):
The men that he got hired and he fired Tom
Landry and I hate to say, if probably overdue, what
would land and then when one in fifteen and then yeah,
I mean it's it's.

Speaker 3 (01:00:05):
A very complex story.

Speaker 2 (01:00:07):
It's it's a very complex story.

Speaker 8 (01:00:09):
Well Hendry right out, no doubt about that.

Speaker 3 (01:00:12):
No doubt about it. And a good player in the
NFL as well.

Speaker 2 (01:00:15):
All right, the Charles, I appreciate you checking in buddy,
thanks so much and calling each time.

Speaker 3 (01:00:20):
I love to hear from you again.

Speaker 2 (01:00:22):
Uh Stephen, Kansas City, what do you got force today?

Speaker 8 (01:00:24):
Man?

Speaker 2 (01:00:25):
No?

Speaker 19 (01:00:26):
Right, all right, all right. I think I think Jerry
is probably a personal Hall of Famer too. I would
have to agree with her.

Speaker 13 (01:00:31):
With our old guy Texas.

Speaker 2 (01:00:33):
I appreciate Charles Candor. I know. I love it when
he says I hope cowboys can stomp the whole country.
I love it when people have strong opinions.

Speaker 3 (01:00:40):
I really do.

Speaker 2 (01:00:41):
That's good.

Speaker 19 (01:00:42):
Oh yeah, okay, Well then then I'm probably your favorite colors.
Let's just go on on the on the NFL. Roger
Ganell hasn't done anything right to TV contracts. See what
he wants to have a Dell in the super Bowl
instead of or Swift. So I would I would propose

(01:01:03):
fixing the kickoff by having like a practice squad, like
a suicide squad, like twelve guys who are only eligible
for kickoffs, and then we could reinstate the whole kickoff.
You know, let it be like the Texas A and
M twelve man.

Speaker 2 (01:01:19):
Right, that's a fair comparison.

Speaker 3 (01:01:22):
Yeah, why can't they just go back to the way
it was.

Speaker 2 (01:01:24):
The NFL existed for what twelve years under the old kickoff,
and they make this change steve under the guys of
players safety and increased excitement.

Speaker 19 (01:01:36):
Oh, I know, we we got too many fifty million
dollars contracts. They're never going to go back to getting
getting guys hurt again.

Speaker 7 (01:01:43):
Apparently about this about.

Speaker 19 (01:01:45):
The Major League Baseball, this new fangled computer, you know,
these guys are going to be cheating. You know they're
going to be cheating. I mean, they're going to have
people in the outfield have been oulars. The problem with
this rule is there's unlimited challenges if you succeed, So

(01:02:06):
if you can tip somebody off in the outfield, you
know there's going to be so many holes with it.
There's going to be so many people.

Speaker 2 (01:02:14):
Well, my concerned look the robot. They've been testing this, Okay,
so it's precise in terms of you see it on TV.

Speaker 5 (01:02:21):
My concern is theoretically.

Speaker 2 (01:02:24):
It's only supposed to slow down the game, right, thirteen
seconds per challenge. That's what it did in spring training.
But when reality rules around, I don't want any delays
continue on.

Speaker 19 (01:02:36):
Well, these guys are the greatest in the world at
sports and at cheating, so you don't think that somebody
is going to devise a way to signal to that
guy for unlimited challenges and win.

Speaker 2 (01:02:49):
I mean, I'm just you only get to you only
get two for nine innings then and then one of
my actually right, but.

Speaker 19 (01:02:55):
If you the way I understood the rule, if you succeed,
you don't lose your talent, No, you lose your you.

Speaker 2 (01:03:00):
Get too okay, you get to each that's Iteah, wow.

Speaker 11 (01:03:04):
Good with that.

Speaker 19 (01:03:05):
The powerball thing. I grew up in Chicago and we
threw the pow ball.

Speaker 2 (01:03:09):
I mean the bleacher bums. Maybe they threw it back, yeah,
but would you have thrown back through the sixtieth home
run ball?

Speaker 19 (01:03:17):
Exactly?

Speaker 8 (01:03:18):
No one.

Speaker 15 (01:03:18):
No one was going to keep a ball.

Speaker 13 (01:03:20):
It was from an.

Speaker 3 (01:03:21):
Opposing hell man.

Speaker 2 (01:03:22):
Those people have been hooked up to hutelpol Beers nine
in the morning.

Speaker 19 (01:03:27):
And my wild card tonight is is the Rider Cup?
Is the is? Why don't we have why we're getting
We're getting absolutely trounched at the at the Rider Cup.
Scottie Scheffler is going to play Rory McElroy if you
get If anyone wants to wants to wager today, now,
why can't we have six wild card spots or live golfers.

(01:03:50):
We're fighting with one hand side tied behind our back.
I don't know what we're doing. You know, the PGA
wants to keep it their little their little club. We
have got to start competing where we're gonna get absolutely
I mean arring a miracle. We're going down in flames today.
I would love to see Scotty Clouds crowd Rory, but

(01:04:12):
I don't. I don't think it's gonna happen.

Speaker 2 (01:04:15):
This was a fight there stopped it. This was a
fight that as always, as always great good stuff. Man,
enjoy your have a little Kansas City barbecue on Siday.
Back out to Texas. We're joined by Bryce in Texas.
Good evening, Good morning, Bryce.

Speaker 13 (01:04:31):
Good evening.

Speaker 12 (01:04:32):
It's in the wall.

Speaker 8 (01:04:33):
I talk to you.

Speaker 2 (01:04:35):
Thank you, go ahead?

Speaker 3 (01:04:36):
Yes, what's that? Yes, sir, go ahead, I am thank you.

Speaker 16 (01:04:40):
Oh well, I was just gonna say, starting off with
the guy who caught the ball in Seattle, like that's
that's a feel good story that I think everybody needs
to see. I don't mind that. I mean, everybody's talking
about how you kind of got ripped off, and I
know that, Oh was it. Jason and Mike were talking
about how that balls worth like one hundred thousand, and

(01:05:00):
all I got was like a T shirt and got
to meet the player in some seats or whatever. But
sometimes it's just good to do something or see somebody
do something, not for anything, I agree.

Speaker 2 (01:05:12):
Not every human being is worships the dollar. And we
don't know that guy's financial situation. And you know that's
what made this his story, because it's because most people
would not have done that. Continue on.

Speaker 16 (01:05:26):
The second thing, as far as the NFL kickoff, I'm
not sure what my thoughts are. It's been six stays
since I've watched NFL football, so I'm sure the rules
have changed in the last six days.

Speaker 3 (01:05:36):
Literally, I do agree with you.

Speaker 16 (01:05:38):
I wish you would go back to like the early
two thousands. I think football fans are missing the old
Dante Hall returns.

Speaker 2 (01:05:45):
And there's Kansas City Chiefs reference.

Speaker 16 (01:05:47):
Yeah, oh right, I mean it's just I mean I
remember watching those and think that that was the most
exciting playing football is watching a guy run a ball
back after a kickoff returns. And then the last thing.
As far as the ABS system for baseball, I thought
the same thing as Class Collars. I thought they got
to keep their challenge, that they got it right, which

(01:06:08):
means it's you could get too wrong and then one.
But apparently, according to you, there's only two per game.
Tennett's implemented this exact same thing with Hawkeye. I agree
with having the two challenges. It was super quick and tennis.

Speaker 13 (01:06:23):
I think it will be good.

Speaker 2 (01:06:24):
Here my fear on this, Okay, I need to correct
myself and thank you for bringing it up. Thank you
for bringing it up, because I had the rules written down. Apparently,
a team retains its challenge if they're successful. So I
was wrong, but I don't want to get hung up
on that. But thanks for bringing that up. Bright's continue on.

Speaker 16 (01:06:40):
Well for tennis, it works brilliantly. It was just a
tip of the fingers and they showed it real quick.
I don't think there was that much of a delay.
I think this is going to be about the same
amount of delay as you're going to have with a
player drawing out of umpire, because this is all going
to be done on like a ball.

Speaker 12 (01:06:56):
Four or strike three.

Speaker 16 (01:06:58):
I don't see anybody challenging a ball on a two
to one count.

Speaker 2 (01:07:01):
Well, it's going to depend who challenges, whether it's the
hit or the pitcher or the catcher. So you've got
three and they're only right about half the time, So
go ahead.

Speaker 16 (01:07:10):
But my fear with this is that it will end
up being Tennis moved it to where all games and
like ATP one, thousands and grandsons are now all hawkey.
I would not like to see that at all. But
I do think that, Hey, if you're trying to limit
the amount of drawling between players and umpires, and you're
trying to like limit the amount of objections, I don't

(01:07:31):
mind this too much. I just went to stay here
and not progress to where every single ball and strike
is called moving forward, and I feel like that's where
we're going to end up in the next five to
ten years.

Speaker 2 (01:07:41):
Well, do you bring up an extra point? Thanks for
checking in. There could be a slippery slope and that's
in the back of my mind as well. We stay
in Texas, Greg Joints, Just welcome in, Greg.

Speaker 3 (01:07:51):
What's going on doing well?

Speaker 2 (01:07:53):
Thank you.

Speaker 12 (01:07:55):
Actually, I'm going to try to make this short. The
football rule, the Arizona Cardinals situation was was bound to happen.
It's going to happen to somebody, and just got to them. Sure,
But the biggest downfall that is just the element surprise
with the on side kick. It's that's a fabric of

(01:08:16):
the game and they just wipe that out. You know,
you start the game with an on side kick, it
changes the whole common don't you love that?

Speaker 2 (01:08:25):
And you know what the and the new rule you
can only do an onside kick if you're trailing.

Speaker 3 (01:08:29):
You can't do it.

Speaker 12 (01:08:31):
Yeah, yeah, it just doesn't make sense. But that's their situation,
so all let it go at that. On the Major
League Baseball umpires it really doesn't slow things down that much.
H I think we're only going to see usage of
it at late innings or critical games. Whatever. It's just

(01:08:56):
it'll be there for egregious calls. I'm okay with that.
On the baseball thing, man, I'm sixty six years old.
I don't I need a baseball like I need a
football helmet. I'm just I don't need that, and it
means so much more to the player than it does

(01:09:18):
to me. So at my age and even when I
was younger, I'd be all for get rid of it.
It doesn't mean anything to you. Maybe it does. Look
in my baseball I got it, you know, it's just
not it's not important fair enough. So I just want
to cover that and get off the air. But I

(01:09:41):
appreciate you fielding my call.

Speaker 2 (01:09:44):
All right, thanks so much, Thanks so much. I appreciate
you checking in when the midnight hour continues. Have got
Mane Well and Guardina. He'll be a next, followed by
Nick and Main.

Speaker 3 (01:09:55):
So hang tight.

Speaker 2 (01:09:56):
We're gonna get you.

Speaker 3 (01:09:57):
By the way.

listening to the Bernie Fratle Show on Fox Sports Radio.
How right back of the Bernie Fradle Show Fox Sports Radio.
The midnight hour continues eight seven, seven, nine, nine, six
six three sixty nine. You know the three topics. Let's
go out to the phone lines. We're joined by the
legend Manuel and Guardiana.

Speaker 3 (01:10:38):
Manuel, how you doing?

Speaker 2 (01:10:39):
My man?

Speaker 20 (01:10:41):
Just won't to sell prey because I'll wait to the
midnight our Bernie.

Speaker 7 (01:10:50):
My man, Hey, I'm gonna be in your town in November.

Speaker 9 (01:10:54):
So maybe once we get done with the topics, you
can drop aw spots where I could take the LaDue.
It would be much appreciated.

Speaker 20 (01:11:05):
So I think we're talking to umpires right with these
Uh what exactly?

Speaker 9 (01:11:10):
Because I came in late.

Speaker 2 (01:11:12):
Well, basically, baseball is implementing this ABS system whereby robots
are going to you know, chart every ball and strike,
and teams are going to be able to challenge them.
You're an umpire, or check that a catcher, a pitcher,
or a hit or can challenge it. And uh and
and and that's essentially what's happening. The umpire is no
longer the final word.

Speaker 13 (01:11:32):
Yeah, I don't like it.

Speaker 9 (01:11:33):
It's baseball is one hundred and fifty years old.

Speaker 7 (01:11:36):
Uh, it's been doing just.

Speaker 20 (01:11:38):
Fine without these robots getting involved. The problem is, Burnie,
We've seen it time and again, not only in the MLB,
but in the NFL. The originator of Weekly they still
get too many damn calls wrong. They watch them, they
look at them, we all see it, and then they

(01:11:58):
still call it wrong. So yeah, I don't need it myself.

Speaker 9 (01:12:04):
What else are we talking about tonight, Bernie.

Speaker 3 (01:12:07):
Well, we had the situation this NFL kickoff rule.

Speaker 2 (01:12:12):
I think I've had enough of where everybody stands around
and they could cost the Ears on the Cardinals game.
I want him to go back to the old kickoff.
I don't like this as you're putting the landing zone
and if you don't eat forty yard line, YadA, YadA ya.

Speaker 20 (01:12:23):
No, absolutely, Bernie, that's another thing with football this time.
You know, that's part of the backbone of the NFL
that you and I grew up loving, falling in love
with those kicks, you know, like when it's a return,
when you guys got guys like Hamsters, like Hall, like

(01:12:43):
the guy from up Baltimore in two thousand, that are
just threats.

Speaker 9 (01:12:49):
Every time they touched the ball, whether it's a plunt
or a.

Speaker 7 (01:12:51):
Kid, it could flip the game.

Speaker 20 (01:12:54):
And seeing some of the greatest hits man, I mean,
I know that's part of the reason why they took
it out, but they policed it a little better to
where the blind side shots weren't coming in, the crack.

Speaker 9 (01:13:07):
Bats and all that.

Speaker 20 (01:13:08):
But no, man, it's un American having Robot and having
this barce of a kick off. I mean, come on, right,
I mean, what the hell with New Rockney and Kacey
Stangleton scene right now?

Speaker 2 (01:13:22):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:13:23):
All right, man, man, I appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (01:13:25):
Manuel, And we have three thousand eating establishments here in
Las Vegas. I'm not sure where you're staying. My wife
and I love Flemings. We go there on our anniversary
there every year. That's that's that's a national chain. But
it's phenomenal. But I don't care what you want. It's here.

Speaker 3 (01:13:41):
You just it's like picking your favorite new little play.

Speaker 2 (01:13:44):
This Spaget you love Bootleggers on Las Vegas Buller at
a classic Italian place. They have entertainment and there it's
just we'll be here all night, but you'll find you'll
find what you're looking for, know what their preferences are.

Speaker 3 (01:13:55):
And work off of that. Nicko and Maine joins us. Yeah,
welcome in, Nick, How you doing? But good?

Speaker 2 (01:14:04):
Welcome in?

Speaker 15 (01:14:06):
All right, First of all, it's Nick m I c
k okay, thank you projecting Nick.

Speaker 19 (01:14:11):
Yeah, Well, Nick's a guy who'll throw up in your car.

Speaker 15 (01:14:13):
And I'll tell you about it. I'm not Nick Sol
but anyway that.

Speaker 5 (01:14:19):
I have to move all Sorry.

Speaker 21 (01:14:22):
The kickoff rule I think I think is good and
I'll tell you why it gives. If you put it
in the zone and the returner takes it as he
gets up to that line now, which is thirty yards,
he can start to see lanes and and and potentially

(01:14:43):
take it all away. And you have enough people in
the NFL return wise who can do that. My question
now is does it become imperative to have your kicker
now be your last line of defense and have to tackle.
And then do you now teach kickers to tackle? Do

(01:15:05):
they become I know the legs are getting bigger and
stronger in the field goal and and I get.

Speaker 2 (01:15:10):
All that that actually hasn't been the case. Interestingly enough,
make you saw that more of the old the old way.
As a matter of fact, you know, I saw one
of the college kickers today, make make it make a tackle.
I forget which game it was. It might have been
the Ohose State game against Washington the kicker, but go ahead,
so do me now?

Speaker 21 (01:15:29):
And at the NFL and it's strip away all the
onion layers is a teaching game. Why aren't you teaching
kickers to tackle?

Speaker 2 (01:15:42):
Or well, they don't want them getting hurt. There's a
specific reason for that, bick. You don't want your kicker
making physical contact. As a matter of fact, if they're
on the sideline, you're top to just push them out
of bounce.

Speaker 15 (01:15:52):
Go ahead, right, so but still, if the guy's coming,
you know you have to sacker, you know, as a kicker,
and you don't want to get hurt. And I give
all that, do you do you now? Just do the
away tackle or do you now have to have a
confident backup picker take a roster spot because of that?

(01:16:14):
So thinks I appreciate your take on that.

Speaker 3 (01:16:19):
All right, thanks a lot, Mick, it is. Thanks for
checking in, buddy.

Speaker 2 (01:16:23):
Josh, and New York wraps things up for us tonight
on the minute hour.

Speaker 3 (01:16:27):
Welcome in, Josh, thanks.

Speaker 14 (01:16:29):
For taking my call.

Speaker 22 (01:16:30):
And I think there's no better place for restaurants and
deli's and fool places than New York, especially the New
York City area, even the outskirts of West that's where
I am. Some great places to eat.

Speaker 2 (01:16:42):
I mean, tell you, my friend, you're not no argument there.
I've been to the city a thousand times and I
still love John's Pizza on Bleaker Street. I stayed. You know,
I can name them all too. But we have what
you have, believe it or not, we actually do. And
I wouldn't you have to live here to know that.
But but continue on, you need one with our topics.

Speaker 14 (01:17:02):
Great, all right, we could talk about pizza all night.

Speaker 22 (01:17:05):
But the thing is Brian dave Ball I call him
Brian the bonehead. Him and him and him and Seamus.
I mean they should have been fired like last year
and now they're gonna put you know, they're gonna put
Jackson Dart out there. I just hope the offensive line
is getting a good night's sleep and everything. And let's
not make this first thought. Let's make a good memorable one,

(01:17:27):
because the Giant offensive line is a horror show. Only
shamous and and Bonehead would bring in.

Speaker 14 (01:17:34):
To me, Russell Wilson was watched up.

Speaker 22 (01:17:37):
Okay, I mean and bringing in Winston, what was that
ful for the defensive backs to get practiced in in practice?
You know, the hilltow interceptions and they can get a
good workout, and they listen, folks that they didn't like
Tommy DeBrito, no matter why anybody said they.

Speaker 15 (01:17:53):
Did not like Tommy Debato.

Speaker 14 (01:17:54):
That's why they released him.

Speaker 22 (01:17:55):
You would bring in two guys in their thirties and
millions of dollars. One guy throws in deceptions. One guy
throws a ball. Russell Wilson throws the ball up in
the air.

Speaker 3 (01:18:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 14 (01:18:05):
I was just waiting for.

Speaker 11 (01:18:07):
Yeah, I was waiting.

Speaker 14 (01:18:09):
I mean, he got away.

Speaker 22 (01:18:09):
Within the playoffs ten years ago, but still then I
was waiting for, like a defensive back to punch the
ball when it was coming down, like send it into
the up deck or something like these guys by de
Bow the bonehead. But they got listen, they got beats,
and Butt had vamboozled. John Mara and Tish, the owners
of the Giants, they have these guys vamboozled.

Speaker 14 (01:18:31):
That's why if you haven't owned it. Who owns the team.

Speaker 22 (01:18:34):
Obviously inherited from his grandfather, you could get away with
the guy doesn't no football, you know, safety with House
Steinn Manner with the Yankees doesn't no baseball. That's why
he turns it out for cashraight for the last twenty
five years. And you know people two months ago they
wanted to fire Aaron Boone for what the.

Speaker 14 (01:18:51):
Yankees ain't firing. No manager's got years on his contract.
All is the bottom line, guy. The Yankees did what
they were supposed to do.

Speaker 22 (01:18:58):
For the last month and a half, beat up on
bad teams.

Speaker 14 (01:19:01):
That's what they were supposed to do.

Speaker 22 (01:19:03):
That's the formula to get into the playoffs and then
helped you get lucky. But last year was a horror show.
Do you want to know something about the World Series?

Speaker 2 (01:19:09):
Last year?

Speaker 22 (01:19:10):
I wanted because I'm a Yankee, fa I wanted the
Yankees to lead off Judge in bat Soto. Second, I
had to watch the Dodgers leadoff with Tani in that
World Series.

Speaker 14 (01:19:20):
The Dodger runners came in as ty cop. Let's face it.

Speaker 22 (01:19:23):
Some of those miscues and bad players were caused by
the defensive players getting anxious because the runners are over
anxious and regressive Dodgers, I mean judges, fly Boy took
his eye off the ball.

Speaker 15 (01:19:37):
Both look, that was brutal.

Speaker 2 (01:19:39):
That was brutal, and Josh, forgive me. We're up against it,
so I have to let you go, but please don't
be a stranger. And I'm all eyes around the Yankees
this year. The playoffs start Tuesday, and listen.

Speaker 3 (01:19:54):
No one's moon more.

Speaker 2 (01:19:56):
The game was invented in New York, and no one
has won more World Series championship. And I believe the
Yanks are twenty nine in counting, so anything sure of that.
It's a disappointment once again. Thanks to all the callers
at the mid that hour, excellent. You know, varying viewpoints
on the ABS system and on the kickoff rule. Mostly
a lot of people are an agreement, though on the

(01:20:16):
gesture by the Mariners fan, all right, we switch gears.
Coming up Medina Magic, talk a little NBA. It's on
the corner. Keep it locked for Bernie Frattle Show on
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (01:20:26):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (01:20:29):
That's right, you heard the man. The Bernie Frattle Show
keeps rolling right along. My name is Bernie Frattle. We
are comedy line from the Fox Sports Radio studios here
in Las Vegas. Takeap to three at Pacific six am Eastern,
just five and a half hours away from the resumption
of NFL Week four, and here we are. And by
the way, don't look now. The NBA season is literally

(01:20:51):
days away. Camps are getting ready to open, So no
better time to bring on our guy three simple words.
It's that time, Mark Medina, Medina Magic, our Fox Sports
Radio NBA guru and Mark as per usual. Things are
happening worth talking about.

Speaker 3 (01:21:10):
I want to start with JJ Reddick.

Speaker 2 (01:21:13):
The Lakers extended JJ Reddick, and so they've taken care
of Luca and they've taken care of JJ Reddick.

Speaker 3 (01:21:21):
It feels like it's symbolic.

Speaker 2 (01:21:24):
And there was a lot of pablems surrounding Lebron and
Rob Pelinka's comments this week.

Speaker 3 (01:21:29):
Do you care to comment on any of that?

Speaker 10 (01:21:32):
Yeah, of course, I mean, that's what I'm here for, right. Yeah,
I was surprised that they announced that they extended JJ Reddick.
I know that they were high on how he did
his first year, even though you know, first round playoffects,
that they felt like he would continue to just get
better after being a first year head coach. But it's
very unconventional to give a coach an extension literally after

(01:21:53):
one season. But Rob Linkas said, Hey, it's their confidence
and belief in him. They think he's a special coach,
he'll continue to better. I think it's very much in
line in symbolic whether you said that they saw Luka
Doncic to an extension. So this is about the future
and obviously Lebron James that's a complete unknown, you know,
for what it's worth. Rob Palinka did say that the

(01:22:16):
Lakers would love if Lebron's story would be if he
retired as a Laker, But that doesn't necessarily mean that
it's guaranteed that he'll retire as a Laker this season
or next season, because there's a lot of variables unpack
that I'm sure you'd want me to expound on here.

Speaker 2 (01:22:34):
Well, they would love it so much, they decided to
make them a Laye duck for the first time in
his supportment.

Speaker 10 (01:22:41):
Well, I think that in fairness, there's both. I think
both parties want to have their options open. I mean, obviously,
if the Lakers were willing to give max money to Lebron,
he would have accepted a multi year deal. But I
don't think that anyone can fault him for that because
they want to have enough to fill ross around Lebron

(01:23:05):
and Luca. And you know, even though Lebron is playing
at all Star caliber level, he's going to turn forty
one December thirty. At some point the wheels can fall off.
And so I think where the Lakers are staying as
they want to see how he plays. They want to
be able to continue to make moves that puts them
in championship contention this season in future seasons, if Lebron

(01:23:26):
is still playing at a high level, they would still
love to have him back. They would try to see,
you know, what number would be appropriate. Look, it's not
like he either're going to ask him and take the
minimum or VET or mid levels type money, but you know,
can he shave off some of that MAX contract. Same
thing with Lebron he wants to see if he can
still play at a high level. He's made it clear

(01:23:48):
he has no interest in prolonging his career if he's
not still playing at all star caliber level. So if
he's doing that, he wants to see how competitive is
this team with him and Luca and the supporting cast
changes they've made, and then go from there. So I
think it can make for an awkward season, but there's

(01:24:09):
I think reasons for both sides why it's best to
keep these options open.

Speaker 2 (01:24:14):
I'm of the belief Lebron will prolong his career for
a very prolonged, protracted time because that's what Lebron wants
to do.

Speaker 3 (01:24:22):
I'm going to get on and off this real quickly.
I understand.

Speaker 2 (01:24:25):
There was an informal survey this past week. Twenty teams
or twenty somebody's too took participation in and one of
the questions was where will Lebron James be at the
start of the twenty six twenty seven season, And of
the twenty votes, seven were Lakers, five retired forward, Cavaliers,

(01:24:45):
two Golden State, one Dallas one Miami. If you had
you know, if you were pressed for an answer, what
do you think he is the start of next season
twenty six, twenty seven.

Speaker 10 (01:24:56):
Yeah, that's that's our question. I don't know where he's
going to be next season, but I don't think he's
going to I think he's going to ride out the
rest of this season with the Lakers. I don't think
he's going to request the trade. What I think will
happen is after the trade deadline happens. I think that's
when he will announce whether this is his last year

(01:25:19):
or not, because at that point it'll be very clear
if the Lakers are in championship contention. He'll see what
trade deadline moves happen. If he keeps it open ended
and still says he doesn't know, that means that he
will be entertaining the possibility of leaving the Lakers for
next season. But if I guess, I think that he

(01:25:43):
waits till the trade deadline, he decides this is my
final year, and he'll announce accordingly, and then he'll get
a little bit of a farewell tour treatment while still
having a chance, not as favorites, but still to be
on a viable respective playoff team that could make a
case to make it the bush.

Speaker 3 (01:26:01):
Yeah, the farewell tour is the operative word here.

Speaker 2 (01:26:04):
That's why I think he's going to give plenty of
notice and he'll announce it to as many people as
he can find, find ways to wedge his way and photobomb,
do anything he can. He's gonna want a full year
of a farewell tour, just like Jabbar Head or d Wade.
We'll see. Let's move on.

Speaker 7 (01:26:20):
Let me ask you this.

Speaker 10 (01:26:20):
You think he'll make news Monday. I mean, is when
he announces what's going to happen, if this is his
final year or.

Speaker 2 (01:26:26):
Not, whatever Lebron. If Lebron gets before a microphone Monday
and says it's going to be eighty and Sonny, I'm
going to buy three top coats, it doesn't matter what
he says. And I mean, so I want to move
on because you've got some good other topics and we'll
have plenty of Lebron and Bronni stuff throughout the year.
You brought up some good stuff and your reprotage on
Steph Curry and what's interesting. Mark is part of this

(01:26:50):
twenty participant survey which I don't know who it was,
various teams and writers with.

Speaker 10 (01:26:56):
Different coaches, executives and scouts. I think about twenty of
them total.

Speaker 12 (01:27:01):
You got it.

Speaker 2 (01:27:02):
They still were fairly well unanimous that Steph Curry, even
at his age, is still the best American player in
the NBA. Your thoughts on Steph Curry and your thoughts
and your repertise you can share with us.

Speaker 10 (01:27:16):
Yeah, I mean, he's still playing a high level what's
fast things When he talked to the Warriors, they've been
saying that he is at his physical and skill peak.
But they've been saying that for the last seven years,
so I'm not saying that he hasn't lost a step.
He did have a little bit of an injury twenty
nineteen twenty season with his thumb, but I think it's

(01:27:37):
very telling. When I talked to his trainer, Brandon Payne
for a piece for RG dot org, he would say
that he's gotten physically stronger this past offseason and that
he doesn't want to say surprise because he's to seeing
Steph Curry do at all. But what was very encouraging
is that he felt like this offseason he got even
better with his explosiveness as well as reacting faster with

(01:28:00):
decision makings. The ironic part with this is it was
a huge priority this offseason for Brandon pain and his
work with Steph Curry to really focus on reading and
reacting and not having these set drills. And the thought
process was, well, if he has a season where he
loses some athleticism athleticism because he's thirty seven, this can

(01:28:24):
offset that. The second part is this is about adapting
to Jimmy Butler. They had a lot of great chemistry
after the trade deadline last season. They want to build
off of that. And building off of that has to
do with the fact that Steph Curry is going to
be playing on and off the ball, So it's about
making those reads in real time very quickly. And so

(01:28:44):
you mentioned that that poll that people said that Steph
Curry is the best American player. Brandon Payin would agree
with that, but he did takeption when I was telling
him that he's not in the running for MVP. He
found that comical because of Steph Curry. Right now, I
think in fairness, guys like Nicole Jokic, Luka, Dodgers, the
Anas Hototokumpo, they should be, you know, garnering some MVP consideration.

(01:29:09):
But to according to him, he fails like Steph should
be in that conversation because he hasn't really missed a
step here from his you know, production standpoint.

Speaker 2 (01:29:20):
Well, let's not forget say Guilty's on that list too.

Speaker 10 (01:29:22):
Yeah, they go to the course the raining MVP, so
good stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:29:27):
Talking with Mark Medina Medina Magic Are Fox Sports Radio
NBA guru. All Right, Adam Silver was behind the microphone
recently and he said something I found interesting. He intimated
that they're getting ready to create or form some sort
of NBA branded professional league based in Europe. What can

(01:29:48):
you tell us about that?

Speaker 10 (01:29:49):
Yeah, Well, to be clear here, this is all fluid
because expansion isn't going to happen just yet. But he
has been talking about how he wants to have some
NBA teams in Europe, and whenever that happens, it would
be part of the whole league. Now, I don't know
if this is going to happen. I think the very

(01:30:11):
low hanging fruit is to have an involvement with euro League,
to have an NBA stamp on it. But there might
be some push back from that because the European Basketball
League is very popular, it has a lot of history there,
So we'll wait and see. But the bottom line is
the NBA is global, they're trying to continue to have

(01:30:34):
new revenue streams, and Adam Silver is exploring all opportunities
with a yeah, I think I.

Speaker 2 (01:30:41):
Agree that with that a lot. They're taking a page
out of the Roger goodot in NFL book and just
growing the game internationally, which they've done a pretty darn
good job of doing over the years.

Speaker 3 (01:30:52):
By the way, back to this survey, which is really
kind of interesting, and the.

Speaker 2 (01:30:56):
Most vocal afterward of the participants were unnamed NBA scouts
who once said that, you know, Steph Cray may not
be an MVP candidate, but he's still the guy you
fear most on that team, and he could, you know.

Speaker 3 (01:31:11):
Put the fear of God in you.

Speaker 2 (01:31:14):
One of the interesting questions was what was the best
move of the offseason, and the scouts almost unanimously agreed
that it was the Rockets trading for Kevin Durant because
they believed that the deficiency the Rockets had in the
playoffs last year was not having a go to guy
to score when he needed it, and now they have
Kevin Durant, which I think makes the Rockets legitimate contender.

Speaker 10 (01:31:34):
Your thoughts, Yeah, I mean Kevin Durant as a walking
buck as he's still efficient even though you know he's
not going to win the Ironman Award. Ever, since he
tore his achilles in twenty nineteen and went on the court,
his numbers are as productive and efficient as it has
been his entire career. Now, the Rockets did experience some

(01:31:55):
step back in this past week with learning that Fred
Van Vliet was going to be out there season because
of an abl injury. He is a great locker room guy,
great defender, great playmaker, but it starts with Kevin Durant.
They do have a lot of good pieces around them
with Albert Singun, He's not the best center in the
NBA yet because that owner belongs to Nikole Jokajen. If

(01:32:18):
Joe Allenbi can ever get healthy, and that's a whole
other conversation, but Albertson gun has become a more developed
two way player. Aman Thompson great wing, very athletic, very fast,
great perimeter defender. So they are going to be a
team that can make a deep playoff push, perhaps challenge

(01:32:40):
the Oklahoma City's under in the Western Conference finals. And
that has to do with Kevin Durant. But we can't
discount this Freadvy Vleet injury. He is that significant to
their playoff fortunes because of his veteran locker room leadership,
his productivity in managing the offense, and the fact that
he is a really feisty defender.

Speaker 2 (01:33:00):
Things, and they were very much on display when the
Toronto Raptors, if you can believe it has been six
years now since they won that championship back in twenty nineteen.
But one of the other moves of the offseason that
was lauded among these scouts was a Magic trading for
Desmond Ban. Now you talk to Desmond Bean, who believes

(01:33:20):
the Orlando Magic are legit contender.

Speaker 3 (01:33:22):
Now, I don't know that I feel that, but it
seems like it's wide open.

Speaker 2 (01:33:25):
In the East this year.

Speaker 10 (01:33:26):
Yeah, Desmond Bin was talking to me, you know, for
a sports Kida interview, and he was saying that, look,
when you look at the roster top to bottom, whether
it's Powell, Ben Caro and Jalen Suggs himself, they have
a lot of versatility. They have a lot of different
ball handlers. You've thrown the Wagner brothers. Those are great
scoring threats.

Speaker 8 (01:33:47):
You know.

Speaker 10 (01:33:47):
Franz most especially as a point guard, but they have
a lot of different options on how fast of a
pace they play at. Who runs the offense. Desmond Ban
himself is a huge addition because he's a great defender,
gray locker room guy. He's a very consistent three point shooter,
and that is something that the Magic was lacking last season.

(01:34:07):
They do have some good shooters on paper, but they
were inconsistent. So whether or not those guys improve those numbers,
they always have Desmond Ban, who is very steady and
he rides the shooting streaks of the occasional slumps with
a pretty steady attitude about it. And he's a guy
that puts in the work. He's very methodical with how

(01:34:30):
he shoots, with you know, being very intentional with his
drills and replicating game situations where he's a playmaker. He's
catching off you know, catching off the balance as an
off ball shooter. So he is going to be a
huge addition. Now does that mean they're a championship contending team?
You know, I would still put the edge two teams

(01:34:52):
like the Cleveland Cavaliers and the New York and next
to look the Indiana Pacers, Boston Celtics. They have notable
injuries with Jason Tate with the Celtics, with Tyres Halburn
with the Pacers, that the East could be wide open.
Now des in Vain didn't really count that as a factor.
It's more about himself and the rest of the team.
But you know, they are a team that has shown

(01:35:14):
that they have a lot of depth, and they're trying
to be a team that's not just a good playoff team,
but can actually make a deep push. And at this
point everything was pretty possible.

Speaker 3 (01:35:24):
Anything's possible.

Speaker 2 (01:35:25):
I think they'll have an uphill battle climbing over the
knickser Calves and maybe even the Bucks or Hawks, and
we shall see the West not so much. And final
question I have for you mark one of the survey questions,
in which eighteen of the twenty respondents responded pretty vehemently.
They believe that the Oklahoma City Thunder and we haven't
had a repeat champion a long time. But this is

(01:35:48):
a team and only two players over twenty seven years old.
Now they got a belt under their you know, they
got a notch on their belt. Do you expect the
Oklahoma City Thunder to repeat?

Speaker 10 (01:35:58):
I do expect them to repeat. I mean, you can't
ever discount injuries, and that can very well happen, but
everyone's in their prime or not even scratching the surface.
They have a lot of continuity. You have the reigning MVP.
I think shag Gilgess. Alexander is the favor to repeat
there because he's continuing to get better as a score,
gets the freezer aligned better passer. But think of guys

(01:36:21):
like Jowen Williams and Lou Dorr. They've improved his three
point shooters. They're great perimeter defenders. Ched Holgern and Isaiah Hartenstein.
They're a great one to two punch inside. Ched Holmgren's
to become one of the best defenders in the league,
and he's also healthier. So I think that they're just
getting started here. But the West is very competitive. The

(01:36:44):
Denver Nuggets, they have Nikola Yokichi's still in his prime,
Jamal Murray's healthy. They added some better depth this season
with getting Cam Johnson. He's a much better two way
player than Michael Porter Junior could have ever been. And
you know, they really like David Phiz as a head coach,
so they're right back in the mix. We talked about
the Houston Rockets. You know, they did hit that down

(01:37:06):
with the Van Fleet injury, but everything is up in
the air, I think with those three teams. And then
you know, you look at teams like the Warriors the Lakers.
They can catch light in a bottle because the Warriors
of Steph Curry. The Lakers have Luca Dongerson Lebron James.
But everything has to go right for them. And because
it's thunder, have so much reinforcement, talent and depth, I

(01:37:27):
think it's going to be tough to knock them all.

Speaker 3 (01:37:29):
Yeah, well said.

Speaker 2 (01:37:30):
And not only that, they're the best blend of youth
and experience I've seen in the NBA in a long
time and maturity.

Speaker 3 (01:37:37):
And they did it last year.

Speaker 2 (01:37:39):
Frankly, if you go back and look at it revisionally,
they did it in such convincing fashion. You know, I
mean they really, they really, they got they matched teams
under their foot.

Speaker 10 (01:37:50):
Yeah, I mean, we got to keep in mind they
weren't challenged in the NBA playoffs and the Nuggets challenged
them seven games. Same thing with the Pacers. And you
know in Game seven, Tyres albert Or injured of achilles.
He was dealing with injuries during this series earlier so
it's not like they're invincible. But I think the good

(01:38:10):
thing is is that they're continuing to get better. They
have the continuity, they have the youth. You know, Chun
Holmgren is probably the only player that you wonder, okay,
can he stay healthy on a consistent basis. Everyone else
is pretty durable. They're well coached, So I don't think
it's the same kind of conversation we had when Kevin
Durant was with the Golden State Warriors, and you felt

(01:38:32):
like it's inevitable the words you're going to win the championship.
But they are the heavy favorite, and while there are
some outside contenders here, they don't have the same kind
of depth and talent and continuity at the thunderheav And.

Speaker 2 (01:38:45):
We'll never know what happened, what happened if Tyree Salabert
hadn't got hurt in Game seven. But I just felt like,
when you break down the game in bite sized pieces,
whenever they needed to get a stop man, they got it.
Whenever they need to need a rebound, they got it.
When they needed to get a bucket, they got it.
They were just so well buttoned up in situational basketball.

Speaker 3 (01:39:02):
That's the thing I.

Speaker 10 (01:39:03):
Notice most Yeah, that's a very good point. You know,
even if a lot of Pacer fans will say, oh,
if Tyres Halburn was healthy, a little bit different a
you know, that's not the reality of sports. No one
is ever fully healthy, especially in the playoffs. But number two,
that point that you made that the Thunder always found
a way to win. That was one of their biggest
calling cards that even in the regular even though in

(01:39:25):
the regular season they weren't necessarily challenged because they were
so dominant in the playoffs, they came through in the clutch.
They made defensive stops, they played well as a team,
they kept the composure, and Shay Gilgess Alexander always made
clutch plays when it mattered.

Speaker 7 (01:39:44):
So that those are really good.

Speaker 10 (01:39:46):
Ingredients that you need in a championship team how to
win close games.

Speaker 2 (01:39:52):
Mark, good stuff. Look forward to next week. Teams will
already be in camp and we'll even have an exhibition game.
We'll see then, Buddy.

Speaker 10 (01:39:58):
Yep, and I'll share my observation as well.

Speaker 3 (01:40:01):
Look forward to it.

Speaker 2 (01:40:02):

Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app. We had
a caller earlier I think was Josh from New York.
His comments on Russell Wilson we're really that far off.
I mean, is he was just benched after knowing three
start and now the call of fame debate is there.
He's been in to the Super Bowls and Runland one,

(01:41:25):
and you know, his first half of his career is
pretty good. His last day games not so much. Oh
to eight in his last eight starts, his completion percentage
right around sixty one percent, passing only two hundred and
eighteen yards per game in this man's NFL. They ain't
gonna cut it. That's that's kind of like Penn State

(01:41:47):
against the top ten opponent. Don't cut it. His passer
rating only eighty four point six. So perhaps the benching
of Russell Wilson and the criticism of Russell Wilson is warranted.
I mean, he had the four h and fifty yard game,
but he throws these goofy lollipop hierarching moon balls, as

(01:42:08):
they say, and sometimes they land and sometimes they don't.
And you know what, we're gonna analyze some quarterbacks a
little more later on the show. I want to talk
about Kayleb Williams and his record on the road. They're
here in Las Vegas. In about twelve hours. They kick
off and Lamar Jackson visits Kansas City and Patrick Mahomes

(01:42:29):
and this has been very one sided, especially when you've
got quarterback versus quarterback.

Speaker 3 (01:42:35):
We'll get to that in a bit.

Speaker 2 (01:42:39):
It's time. Most folks love to play fantasy football. It's
big business in this world. That's why we feature every time,
at every week, excuse me, at this time, Fantasy Finals.

Speaker 1 (01:42:54):
Fantasy Files with Brandon Deutsch, your go to fantasy football segment.

Speaker 11 (01:43:00):
Got one God when Welcome to.

Speaker 5 (01:43:03):
The Fantasy Files with Brandon Deutsch.

Speaker 6 (01:43:05):
And we're gonna go into some sid star suggestions as
always today, and we're gonna start with a wide receiver
that we've been high on for a long time that
I've told you to start the last three weeks. And
no it's not Tedro McMillan, even though I love Tedro McMillan.
He's going up against Christian Gonzalez this week. There could
be some trouble for him. Gonzo hasn't been healthy all year,
but should be healthy, and he is healthy and he

(01:43:25):
should lock up Ted at least half the game regardless.
It is Ricky Piersol. Ricky Piersoll against Jacksonville. Juwan Jennings
is still questionable, so is Piersoll, But it sounded like
Kyle Shanahan was alluding to the fact that he's more
confident that Piersoll will play than Jennings. Now they can
both play. I don't think it's gonna matter because we
saw in Seattle Week one how much Brock looked for

(01:43:48):
Ricky Piersoll downfield. I mean, he that is his security
blanket without Kittle, It's him and McCaffrey are the two
guys in the passing game that Brock's gonna look for
and sins against the Jacksonville defense that's pretty good. Actually,
the secondary been pretty good this season. The D line
obviously has some great players with Josh Heinz Allen, Trayvon Walker,
you know you got other guys. You got a Lua

(01:44:09):
Kan the linebacker there. I mean, they got guys right,
So it's not an easy matchup by any means. But
at the end of the day, this is still a
guy who had eight catches for one hundred and eighteen
yards last week. You gotta go off of production in
target share, and he has both. If we're speaking of
target share, I want to go to a guy that's
actually leading the NFL and targets, and no, it's not

(01:44:29):
Ricky Piersoll, it's not Jackson Smith and Jigba. It's Chris Olave.
Thirty seven targets, leads the league through three weeks. Three games.
This guy has been unreal and now he hasn't gotten
the touchdown yet, but he's a lot of it. In
start against the Buffalo team that's probably going to wipe
the floor with them, meaning they're going to be down
and they're going to be passing the football. Highest target
share in the league at wide receivers Chris o'lave, believe

(01:44:50):
it or not. Now he's looking like the christ O
Labby of a few years ago when he was a
second round pick in fantasy. So if he took him
in round seven or eight, this is looking like you're
it's pan dividends right now. I mean, he's that good.
In that same game, I'd sit Keon Coleman. You know,
he's been so hit or missed. It seems like Khalil
Shakiir and daltonkin Cad are the only two guys you
can rely upon in that passing game right now. Josh

(01:45:11):
has so many guys that he looks doing. Of course,
James Cooks will lock it in start, but we never
have to talk about him. He's a touchdown every single week.
But the passing game and the receivers like Josh, uses
so many different ones. I just don't love the way
that they're utilized. Keon Coleman against other teams, not naming
the Ravens like he doesn't have many fantasy points since

(01:45:32):
that first week. I think he's safe on the bench,
especially against the New Orleans team where they'll be able
to run down their run against them. New Orleans does
not have a good run defense. Next, I would start JK.
Dobbins going up against the Cincinnati Bengals. Cincinnati's got one
of the worst teams in the league when they don't
have Joe Burrow playing, and that was evident when they
lost forty eight to ten against the Minnesota Vikings last week.

(01:45:54):
I don't love this game for anybody on Cincinnati side really,
and Chase Brown might struggle because they'll be down, but
Denver's one and two. They're gonna want to show that
they have a dominant defense and that they have a
good team. I think RJ. Harvey is a sneaky flex option.
I think both running backs get ten plus fantasy points
in this game, so I think they're both solid, solid

(01:46:16):
plays this week. I think this might be an RJ.
Harvey breakout and a Dobbins touchdown game. And of course,
if Dobbins ever goes down, Harvey becomes an immediate top
fifteen running back in a week to week basis because
Denver is one of the best offensive lines in football.
And if we're staying on running backs, I want to
go to a sit here that a lot of people
probably won't be fond of, but it's Javonte Williams going
up against the green Bay Packers, one of the best
run defenses in all of football. Javonta Williams hasn't looked

(01:46:39):
like himself last week against the Bears. It wasn't that good.
He did well the first two weeks, but you got
to remember they haven't played a run defense like this
quite yet. This is going to be a game where
green Bay controls the clock. They've done a good job
of doing that. Even against Cleveland it was a thirteen
to ten game. They did a good job of controlling
the clock in that one too. They just played an
elite run defense. I think that green Bay win the

(01:46:59):
game they'll be ahead the entire game. I just don't
see a ton that Javonte will be able to do
unless he catches passes at a high level, which I
don't think that's going to happen. This week. We've seen
Ferguson get all those chuckdowns from Dak Prescott when they're behind.
Not the running back position. Make sure to start Matthew
Golden going up against Dallas. Dallas as one of the

(01:47:21):
worst defenses in football, especially in the secondary. I know
they got some guys banged up, but this is the
Golden breakout game. Tucker Crafts banged up, Jayden Reid's out,
Jordan Love is going to sling it downfield, so you
know Golden's going to have a big game. He had
almost had that seventy yard touch and against Commanders a
few weeks ago, but he dropped it. I think this
is the breakout, Golden game. And I'd also start Shordan
Mason against the Pittsburgh Seelers. At Pittsburgh Steelers, they paid

(01:47:43):
a lot of money on that defensive line. They can't
seem to stop anything. He can't start a park car
right now. Jordan Mason one hundred and sixte yards two
touchdowns last week. Minnesota should be ahead, but even if
they're not, I'm confident Mason gets a touchdown or two
and gets one hundred yards rushing again. And I'd also
start Trevion Henderson against the Carolina Panthers from Modern Stevenson,
I'd sit in that same game because he's a serial fumbler.
We thought last year's six fumbles last season, he already

(01:48:06):
has a fumble last week that cost him the game.
Pretty much. I would trust Antonio Gibson at this point
more than Rimandree Stevenson, which sounds crazy to say, but
it's true. I would say Jerry Judy against the Lions.
I know the Lions give up fantasy points to receivers,
but this Browns team, they haven't been utilizing Jerry Judy.
It's been their tight ends a lot of the times,
and Cedric Tillman actually has been the wide receiver they've

(01:48:27):
gone to the most so far this season. Now, maybe
defenses are keen in on Jerry Judy a little bit
because of what he did last season, what a good
year he had despite Cleveland's lack of success. But I'd
feel pretty confident sitting Jerry Judy in that game again,
it is Brandon Deutsch. You can find me at Brandon
estoutsch on TikTok BSD takes on X back to the
Bernie Fratto Show.

Speaker 5 (01:48:46):
Appreciate you, guys.

Speaker 6 (01:48:47):
Let's win our matchups all.

Speaker 2 (01:48:49):
Right, Fantasy finals every Sunday morning, one am Pacific time
on The Bernie Fratto Show. Hopefully this helps you win
your fantasy league, or at least week to week fantasy.
I no longer participate in fantasy. It's been years.

Speaker 3 (01:49:04):
I did have a.

Speaker 2 (01:49:05):
Gentleman on Twitter monkey Biz, Doug wanted my opinion, and
his thoughts are starting Baker Mayfield over Josh Allen. Now,
normally you would start Josh Allen over Baker Mayfield. He's
got a significantly higher ceiling when it comes to fantasy points,
and he's a been more consistent in production, and he's
a lead quarterback. I like Baker Mayfield a lot. He's
having a very good season. He's solid, He's facing a

(01:49:28):
little tougher defense in Philadelphia. The reason I didn't come
up with a specific decision couple things. First of all,
Josh Allen is projected by these charts to like eighteen
point six points in Baker Mayfield at sixteen, So it's negligible, okay,
but anything can happen. The one concern, and you don't
want to overthink it. You don't want to create problems
that don't exist yet and try to solve them. But

(01:49:49):
what if Buffalo has a big lead, big big lead,
they get out and they are stomping the Saints. Right,
I'm just saying Alan won't have to do as much.
Maybe start running the ball, maybe he you know, even
since the series or so if they run up a score,
you don't know, it's all speculative. This is the NFL.

Speaker 3 (01:50:10):
Saints could go up there and win and given Sunday
is real, but just a thought. It's a tough one.

Speaker 2 (01:50:15):
But you know, I think just as a general rule,
you would almost always start Josh Allen and that's over
Baker Mayfield.

Speaker 3 (01:50:22):
But that's not slighting may Mayfield. Mayfield can play.

Speaker 2 (01:50:26):
Alan brings in the running component, the running component, and
I know I believe Mayfield has been a little banged up.
You've got Tristan Wirff back Sunday, so we'll see what happens.

Speaker 3 (01:50:39):
Well, there you have it.

Speaker 2 (01:50:40):
With fantasy files coming up, we dive into a couple
of quarterback tidbits that are pertaining to Sunday's games, which
are upon us now just a few hours away. And
there are six winless teams. One of the most surprising
ones the Houston Texans, who had a win total of

(01:51:03):
nine and a half. They're all in three. They're all
in three versus a spread. And I'm going to give
you a very specific reason why Houston has underachieved so
badly this year and why that actually may continue. I'm
Bernie Friddle or Kenny Lyne from the Las Vegas Fox
Sports Radio Studios. Keep it locked right here. You're listening
to the Bernie Fradle Show on Fox Sports Radio. I

(01:51:26):
were back on the Bernie Frautle Show Fox Sports Radio,
coming live from the Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio Studios.
We're in about eleven hours and what fifteen minutes the
Raiders are going to host the Chicago Bears. Now, this
feels like a get right game for the Raiders, which

(01:51:47):
would jump them to tune in two, partly because Caleb
Williams on the road. He's one and eight as a starter,
completing about fifty eight percent of his passes, barely throws
for two hundred yards of a game, eleven touchdowns, nine
interceptions is passer rating is only eighty one. So there's
your quarterback stat for Caleb Williams. But it's worse than that.

(01:52:09):
The Chicago's Bears defense is bad. They're ninth worst in
total DVOA. They're bad against the pass, they're bad against
the run. They lost their top corner and Jalen Johnson
to injury this week. Under defensive end Grady Jarrett, it
has been ruled out for Somenday's contest. If the Raiders
and the Raiders are passing game, it's not exactly stellar.

Speaker 9 (01:52:30):
But.

Speaker 2 (01:52:32):
It's This seems like a terrible matchup for Chicago. They've
allowed their opponents to convert in the attempts of over
twenty yards five of eight. That's the fourth worst completion
percentage on deep balls. So listen, I expect the Raiders
and if they get the ball, if the Raiders are
able to move the ball through the air, that's only

(01:52:54):
going to open up running lanes for action genty where
they're waiting to break out. So this is a bad
matchup for the Bears, even though again I don't exactly
see the Raiders is world beaters. If you look at
the line, they've got basically a fifty six percent chance
of winning. But tell me how the Bears are going
to stop brock Bowers and we'll see. But again, you

(01:53:17):
never know, you never know, you never know. Another quarterback
commentary is involving the Chiefs and the and the visiting
Baltimore Ravens and people are you know, been going back
and forth and on who needs to win this game?
More For me, it's not close. It's Baltimore. Baltimore is

(01:53:39):
never even this group. This iteration of the of the
of the Ravens, not the Joe Flacco iteration. I'm talking
about the Lamar Jackson hasn't even been to a super Bowl,
much less one one, and the Chiefs are a fixture
in the Super Bowl and they've won three.

Speaker 3 (01:53:55):
So look, I think a lot of there's gonna be a.

Speaker 2 (01:53:58):
Lot of self impost pressure on Baltimore and to make
matters worse head to head including the playoffs. And by
the way, the Ravens are two and a half point
favorites on the road in Kansas City. But Lamar Jackson
is one and five against Patrick Mahomes. He's only completing
fifty seven percent of his passes in those matchups versus

(01:54:18):
seventy two percent for Mahomes. They're only managing two hundred
ninety five yards a game the Ravens are in those
contests against the Chiefs, where the Chiefs are just under
three hundred and fifty. Every measurable statistic yards per pass,
the touchdown to interception ratio. Mahomes fifteen touchdowns, three interceptions,

(01:54:39):
Lamar nine touchdowns, seven interceptions. Mahomes has a sparkling one
to fourteen passer rating against Lamar Jackson's eighty passer rating.

Speaker 3 (01:54:52):
There's no way I have going.

Speaker 2 (01:54:53):
Against the Chiefs at home with underdogs. I haven't done
anything yet. It did two and a half. It makes
for a nice You can tease the Chiefs up and
find another partner as long as you go through the
key numbers of three, four, six.

Speaker 3 (01:55:06):
And seven.

Speaker 2 (01:55:07):
Quarterbacks position. It's the most important position in all of sports,
and it's the thinnest position in all of sports. The
success ratio among quarterbacks is slight, and I mean even veterans.
I mean, you can lose your touch overnight. But I
want to talk ever so quickly about right now, heading

(01:55:28):
into Week four, there are six teams who haven't won yet.
The Texans, Dolphins, Saints, Giants, and Jets, and the Tennessee
Titans combined zero to eighteen, and two of them at
least are going to be owing four when you wake
up Monday morning, because the Texans host the Titans on
Sunday and they're both winless, and the Dolphins host the

(01:55:48):
Jets on Monday. And when you look at the preseason totals,
some of these aren't really surprising, but when you look
like the Houston Texans into it, it was nine and
a half, and they're only the second team in twenty
six years to start zero to three without allowing more
than twenty points in any game. They allowed fourteen to

(01:56:11):
the Rams and lost lost to Tampa Bay by one.
Twenty nineteen lost to Jacksonville. But guess what, they're not
scoring points. The Texans are the only team that won
a playoff game last season and they're starting zer to
three and all their ownership talked about was taking the
next step. But if you look at the moves that
Houston made, they don't seem to be helping, at least

(01:56:32):
not yet. All right, they're bringing a new offensive coordinator
by the name of Nick Kyley. He'd never even been
an NFL play caller, much less than offensive coordinator, so
he's learning on the job. Remember when Laramie Tunsel had
that gas mask on and he was smoking pot the
draft about eight nine years ago. He's turned out to
be a hell of an NFL player. They traded him.

(01:56:54):
He was a very good left tackle, and they turned
over eighty percent of their starting offensive line. So you know,
this new offensive line is going to need time to gel.
I know, by the way, uh, you know, the receiver
the receivers that they brought in, Jalen Nolan, Jayde Niggins

(01:57:14):
haven't shown out yet.

Speaker 3 (01:57:16):
Maybe they're not fully developed.

Speaker 2 (01:57:18):
So Houston is.

Speaker 3 (01:57:21):
Very challenged on offense.

Speaker 2 (01:57:22):
And they don't have Joe Mixon, so they don't have
the kind of explosive running back that they've had in
the past. All right, but by the way, for what
it's worth, Houston's defense offense has never been that's stellar
of that league. But when you rank thirtieth on offense,
that's going to answer a lot of questions, why you
are you know, uh oh and three and two of

(01:57:45):
the you know, two of the three teams they played
were playoff teams. Now, the Dolphins had a win total
of actually seven and a half. They're one and two
against the number, but they're oh and three. They have
the opposite problem. The Dolphins ranked thirty second on defense,
and you know two hasn't been very good. Let's be honest.

Speaker 3 (01:58:04):
He's had diminishing.

Speaker 2 (01:58:05):
Returns on offense, the fifty three million dollar contract. He's
not paid dividends. But the defense has really has really
been bad. The Dolphins, their defense has let him down.
They played Buffalo and an improved Indie offense. Now maybe
that explained some of their regression. But against New England
with Drake May in Week two, the Dolphins became the

(01:58:26):
first defense in four years to allow more than twenty
five points to a Patriots team. So listen, they lost
a lot of bodies. Jalen Ramsey, Jordan Poyer, Jevon Holland,
Emmanuel Ogbuck, Klay's Campbell right on down the line, and
they've had other guys not playing because of injury. That's

(01:58:46):
a massive amount of turnover. So Dolphins also have an
old defense combined by first rounders and young three fifth
round choices that are starting. They've got growing paints. The
Jets somebody thought Aaron Glenn and Justin Fields.

Speaker 3 (01:59:01):
I never bought that.

Speaker 2 (01:59:02):
They're twenty fifth on offense and twenty seventh do on defense.
They stink on both sides of the ball, even though somehow,
you know, they managed to score thirty two points against
Pittsburgh while losing in twenty seven against Tampa Bay. Now,
the Jets are the only team to face three twenty
twenty four playoff teams in the first three weeks, and
Tyrod Taylor, I thought, like better they're saying Justin Fields

(01:59:23):
is back Monday night. I don't know if that's a
good thing. He's fourteen and thirty two as a starter.
He's default mechanism is still to run, and he was
in concussion protocol because that's his style. The Jets rank
bottom ten on both sides of the ball from an
EPA for play standpoint, and I would say that at

(01:59:43):
this point Justin Fields is a stopgap.

Speaker 3 (01:59:46):
He's not their long term quarterback.

Speaker 5 (01:59:48):
You may not want to hear that.

Speaker 2 (01:59:49):
I don't dislike Justin Fields, but he's not a major
league quarterback. So we'll get to the other winless team's
coming up. And oh, by the way, what are the
key matchups to really pay closest attention to coming up
Sunday and Monday. We'll tell you keep it locked. You're
listening to the Bernie Fraddle Show on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (02:00:07):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (02:00:10):
Yep, that's right.

Speaker 3 (02:00:11):
You heard the man.

Speaker 2 (02:00:12):
Bernie Frattle Show keeps rolling right along.

Speaker 3 (02:00:14):
My name is Bernie Frattle.

Speaker 2 (02:00:15):
We are coming to you live from the Fox Sports
Radio studios here in Las Vegas. Take up to three
am Pacific, six a m Eastern, four and a half
hours away from NFL kickoff from Ireland. Your Vikings and
Steelers as the NFL resumption Week four continues. And by
the way, you heard on the update that Justin Fields

(02:00:40):
is out of concussion protocol. I'm actually looking forward to
watching them play Monday night. I may be one of
the few people on the planet feels like Miami wins
that game. There are Mets right now, but they're still
a short favorite. Look, if there's ever a guy that
you would want to model in terms of professionalism, dignity,

(02:01:01):
carrying himself with a high, respectable manner. He was phenomenal
in college, it's Justin Fields. He has not translated the
professional game. He's fourteen and thirty two as a starter,
he said, plenty of opportunity, and they keep sticking with him.
And I don't want to hear this complain about how
the NFL doesn't develop quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (02:01:20):
But they do develop quarterbacks.

Speaker 2 (02:01:23):
What they can't do is transform athletes in their quotes,
athletes who don't grasp reality. Quarterback is a position you
play with your eyes. NFL offenses are designed by very
smart men. They are intricate, they're very complicated, and they're diversified.
Recognition is number one. You play the position with your eyes.

(02:01:44):
You have to have a base level of talent, arm talent,
like all that. But you receive the ball, you make
mental snapshots, and you have to execute within about two
seconds or you're not going to be long in this league.
He's got forty six starts. You simply can't take off
and run because it worked in college. That's my two
second synopsis, which you've probably heard me say a thousand times.

(02:02:07):
So it's a matchup I'll watch Monday night, But I'm
not as intrigued as much about that matchup, nor should
you be, as the one I'm gonna mention starting with
Sunday night. It's come up a couple of times on
the show, had a good caller from Dallas because Michael
Parsons was not signed by the Cowboys, and there's some

(02:02:28):
bitterness there. And if you peel back the onion, Look,
I have a degree in journalism, and I would say
this as a journalist. If somebody tells me it's raining
and the other side it says it's sunny, it's not
my job to argue. It's my job to look outside

(02:02:49):
the window and do my own research. Now that's my understanding.
And Jerry Jones handle is in a very clunky fashion.
Not going to defend Jerry Jones, but it takes two
to tango, Okay. I understand that Parsons was offered forty
one million dollars, which would have made him the highest
paid non quarterback. I mean his agent didn't like that. Well,
they got forty six million and they're in Green Bay

(02:03:11):
and they should be happy. But this keeps getting referred
back to. Now, if you're if you have any monkable
business sense, had they signed Michael Parsons for forty six million,
they'd had three players out of their entire roster take
out fifty percent of their salary cap. Does that make
any sense? Maybe Michael Parsons would give Dallas the best

(02:03:33):
chance of going eight to nine or but not winning
the Super Bowl. But nonetheless, this is the beauty of
these games, are the storylines behind them and the significance.

Speaker 3 (02:03:45):
So the Packers are winning this argument.

Speaker 2 (02:03:47):
The Packers are winning this deal obviously, all right, how
valuable is the superstar pass rusher? And I said forty six? Man,
I guess he got forty seven.

Speaker 22 (02:03:55):
May in.

Speaker 2 (02:03:57):
In the case of Michael Parsons, the value is all
already showing since losing him just before the season. The Cowboys,
who are one and two, their defense allows about six
and a half yards per play, which ranks thirty first,
quite a bit worse than last year when they allowed
five point eight.

Speaker 3 (02:04:14):
That's almost a yard per play.

Speaker 2 (02:04:16):
They also allowed to combine sixty eight points to the
Giants in Bears, that's ranking thirty first, and opposing quarterbacks
time to throw they're getting over three seconds and thirty
first in completions allowed out of twenty plus yards. What
does that say that the Cowboys defense couldn't stop a parade?
As for the two to one Packers, now with Michael

(02:04:38):
Parsons in the lineup facts as facts.

Speaker 3 (02:04:42):
They've allowed a historically low.

Speaker 2 (02:04:44):
Three point seven yards per play, the league's best mart
and twelve in opposing quarterbacks time to throw two point
eight seconds. All right, they're also green Bay is also
allowing the feuse completions of twenty plus yards. All right,
But actually, believe it or not, the Cowboys run defense, well,

(02:05:05):
they think it improved a little bit. But let's not
dwell too much on the math. Parkins excuse me Parsons
talking about Micah Parsons, not Danny Parkins. I expect that
they're going to be far more cheers and almost no

(02:05:26):
booze when he returns to Dallas on Sunday night. I
expect if Jerry Jones is shown, he's gonna get booed.
But here's again, let's try to look at this objectively.
Set your feelings aside. Is it fair to react this
harshly against the Cowboys to executives? Do people who understand
the potential of first round picks and forty seven million

(02:05:48):
per year thing differently? No? I guess when you asked
twelve of the league's decision makers, they said kind of.
The twelve said, no, you make that deal for Parsons
and I can't with that you make that do for
Parsons two set of depends. Well, again, you can't tie
up your half of your salary cap in three players.

(02:06:11):
But back to the matchup you're a during Fantasy files.
The name Matthew Golden. He's a receiver for the Packers,
and he is fast, very fast, And one of the
matchups to watch Sunday night is Matthew Golden versus the
Cowboys cornerbacks. Matthew Golden ran the fastest forty yard dash

(02:06:35):
at this year's Combine, four zero point twenty nine seconds,
and he finished as the second highest wide receiver on
many scouts draft boards. Now, Golden has not done much
in three games. He's caught six balls for sixty eight
yards and by the way, Jordan Loves missed him on
a couple of game changing plays. This may really be

(02:06:59):
the week to watch Matthew Golden flash if there's any
opportunity for him. But remember he played his college football
at Texas. He's a former Longhorn, so he wants to
live up to his first round draft capitol pick in
his return to Texas. And again, the Cowboys ranch just

(02:07:20):
thirty first to Pro football focuses coverage grades and although
they get Deron Bland their best corner, Golden most likely
is going to line up outside or he'll put probably
matchup against Trevon Diggs, who Matthew Goldi can beat again
these advanced metrics, Travon Diggs has allowed the most touchdowns

(02:07:42):
in coverage or Premier elim who's allowed the most yards.
That's a key matchup to watch. It's going to be
a fun game anyway, is slice it? Okay? This is entertainment.
We don't have royalty in this country. Our athletes, there
are entertainers, there are royalty. I hope it's not a blowout.
I don't think it'll be a blow out. I think

(02:08:03):
you're gonna get max effort out of the Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (02:08:06):
They're really not that bad. They just they got holes everywhere.

Speaker 2 (02:08:09):
But they're gonna compete and they're gonna have a little
extra motivation too. But as you're at Steve Esiks earlier
as well, whenever a player that you know goes back
against this old team, oftentimes he has the game of
his life. So again I think advantage Packers. But that's
the key matchup to watch. While Matthew Golden does so

(02:08:31):
in about four hours and twenty one minutes, you'll get
to start to watch this matchup and hopefully you've got your.

Speaker 3 (02:08:40):
Fantasy lineup set.

Speaker 2 (02:08:42):
We have, you know, the season's very first international game,
and interestingly enough, the Vikings are facing the Steelers. The
Vikings are two and a half point favorites. If Minnesota
wins this game, they'll be five to zero historically when
playing game outside the US. By the way, Aaron Rodgers,

(02:09:05):
he gets his first shot at the team that turned
him down. I think Kevin O'Connell was quite candid about
how he really wanted to develop JJ McCarthy. They brought
in Carson Wentz, and sure enough, McCarthy gets hurt right away.

Speaker 3 (02:09:24):
So and I think Rogers says something to prove.

Speaker 2 (02:09:29):
But if you've watched him, and I got nothing against Rogers,
but he man, he's lost more than a yard off
his fastball. He's he's diminished. And by the way, the
Pittsburgh defense looks very wobbly. But Rodgers hasn't done yet.
He recently passed Brett Favre on the NFL touchdown passes list.
He's throwing ten touchdown passes. He only needs thirty more

(02:09:52):
this season to pass Peyton Manning for third behind Tom
Brady and Drew Brees. So he's going into the Hall
of fame. Okay, Alma will pick him up to go
into the Hall of Fame, but it's not not necessarily
ending well, which leads to my matchup. Key matchup Aaron
Rodgers versus Brian Flores defense. The Rodgers has struggled against

(02:10:12):
the Florist defense just last season, a matchup that also
happened overseas for what's that?

Speaker 3 (02:10:19):
For what that is worth?

Speaker 2 (02:10:22):
And you know they intercepted Rogers three times, twice in
the first quarter. And now he's forty one. He took
three sacks and nine hits against the New York Jets
last week, even though they won twenty three to seventeen.
If Pittsburgh doesn't get the same kind of defensive push
against Carson Wentz, I think it's a long day for Pittsburgh.

(02:10:44):
I really feel strong in Minnesota wins this game. And
it's a nice light line. Yeah, it's a neutral field,
but it's a nice light line. Another key matchup, which
we've referenced earlier in the show, the Eagles at Bucks.
Eagles laying three and a half. A lot of good
football this Sunday, but only one game tops this matchup,
and that's between undefeated NFC front runners Tampa Bay. Frankly,

(02:11:09):
they have the Eagle's number of the past few years. Actually,
people have probably forgotten. Tampa Bay beat Philly last year
their Super Bowl year, by seventeen points. They beat him
thirty three to sixteen. And now you got Baker Mayfield
at home. He's a little banged up. They get Tristan
Worf's back. And the Bucks have beaten the Eagles four

(02:11:30):
of their past five meetings, and they get him at home.
Bucks get him at home. A couple of key matchups
Tampa's receivers versus the Eagles secondary. Now, I know Mike
Evans is out with a hamstring injury, but if Chris
Godwin returns, he'll pair with Amika Igbuka against the secondary.
That's been very much exposed already this season. We told

(02:11:54):
you before the season started the Eagles were replacing six
guys on defense more Darius Slay and their cornerbacks are
young and new. Puka Nakua caught eleven balls for one
hundred and twelve yards against the Eagles just last week
and Ceedee Lamb seven receptions one hundred and ten yards,

(02:12:14):
even though he had more than one brutal drop in
Week one, which may have cost Dallas the game. I
don't know, We'll never know, but there's no reason Baker
Mayfield can't continue to exploit that secondary. So keep an
eye on the Bucks receivers versus the Eagle secondary. Meanwhile,
you got Saquon Barkley versus the Bucks run defense.

Speaker 3 (02:12:35):
Now, Barkley, for.

Speaker 2 (02:12:35):
Whatever reason, has struggled a little this year, particularly on
first downs, only averaging two point nine yards per rush,
tied for the fourth fewest among leagues the NFL starting
running backs. Now, he hasn't been much better in downs
two and three eater or down four, averaging four yards
on second and third down. And now he's facing a

(02:12:58):
defense led by Vidavea, who you talk about a defense
that maintains gap integrity. They allow the sixth fewest rushing
yards per game. So maybe Philly employs a different strategy
on first down that Barkley could be better than you think.
Even though he's rarely broken big runs against the Bucks,
Barkley's averaged five point one yards per carry in those matchups. Now,

(02:13:21):
the Eagles I think are in for their first loss.
I do the Bucks are underdogs. I think they have
a much better chance of going to four to ZHO,
thanks in part to the return of their left tackle
Tristan ORFs, who's obviously Baker Mayfield's blindside protection, and Chris
Godwin as well. But watch those Bucks receivers against the

(02:13:45):
Eagle secondary. That's key, and we'll see if the Bucks
defense run defense specifically can keep Sake one Barkley under check.

Speaker 3 (02:13:52):
The Eagles again.

Speaker 2 (02:13:53):
They overcame a big deficit last week against the Rams,
and in their first two games, even though they won both,
Jalen Hurst didn't throw a touchdown pass.

Speaker 3 (02:14:02):
But you know what a win is.

Speaker 2 (02:14:03):
A win is a win. And they're three and ozero
and they're defending champs and they still got the touch push. Finally,
if there's only one game, I could watch you a
weekend and I'm glad that's not the case. How would
it not be the one in two Ravens laying two
and a half points at the one and two Chiefs.
I know it's only Week four, but is this a

(02:14:23):
must win for both teams? No, it's not a must
win for either team. You still got plenty. What do
you do. It's Week four, you got thirteen games left.
Take No, it's not a must win stop with that,
but I think the Ravens needed a lot more.

Speaker 3 (02:14:37):
I really do.

Speaker 2 (02:14:38):
A loss puts either at one and three, which would
be their worst start to a season in ten years.
It's also likely, remember this because Buffalo's hot, and Buffalo's
got the Saints on Sunday. No guarantees, but you did
presume they'll win. It's likely that a one in three
start puts your three full games behind the Bills for
first place in the ANFC and behind the re Inspective

(02:15:00):
Division leaders. And then if you go one in three,
you start to run the risk of whether or not
you're a playoff contender. Because remember now, Baltimore would love
to have the AFC Championship game at home, even though
it didn't work two years ago, and the Chiefs would
love to have the AFC Championship game at home.

Speaker 3 (02:15:18):
Right now, it looks like it's Buffaloes to lose.

Speaker 2 (02:15:20):
You'd rather not travel if you don't have to, but
one of these teams one of the things that's going
to happen.

Speaker 3 (02:15:26):
This is what it feels like a really high stakes game.

Speaker 2 (02:15:29):
One of these teams, the Ravens or the Chiefs, is
going to have its worst start to a season in
ten years now. Basically, it's been pretty good sailing over
the past few years, since both the Ravens and the
Chiefs will be able to hitch their wagon to probably
future Hall of Fame quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (02:15:47):
But Monday night, one of these guys is gonna.

Speaker 2 (02:15:50):
Wake up Monday morning, excuse me, after having the start
of the season one and three for the first time
in their career. So it's a little bit different of
a tail of two cities. Kansas City, their two losses
are two undefeated teams in the Chargers and Eagles, and

(02:16:13):
you can still wonder if Travis Kelsey hasn't dropped that
pass on the goal line and pops into an Eagle defender,
what might have happened. And Baltimore they lost to the Lions,
who obviously are going to be very good again this year.
They got their defensive players back, and the Bills were
three to zero. Both lost their two games by a
total of nine points. But of the two, the Ravens

(02:16:36):
looked a little prettier, if we can say that, they
look a little more potent on offense, with a lot
more potent. They scored one hundred and eleven points in
their first three games, and their Chiefs have only scored sixty.
It's clear this version of the Chiefs roster is seen
its better day. But they're not dead yet. Don't bury
him yet, I will say, though, they're gonna need to

(02:16:58):
give Patrick Mahomes some help. Their running game has not
been it's been non existent. They've rushed for total three
touchdowns and Mahomes has two of them. All right, So
the Ravens and Bills have waited to be the lead
dog in the AFC for years, but now that it's
you know, it's time. Baltimore can't let Buffalo get a

(02:17:18):
full lap ahead. That's as simple as that, all right.
So I would just say this though, again I'm paid
to have opinions, and this is my opinion. I can't
see the Chiefs losing this game at home. I just can't.

Speaker 5 (02:17:34):
Why.

Speaker 2 (02:17:35):
Okay, look, I realized again, I said it a minute ago.
Baltimore has looked more dangerous. They' scored one hundred and
eleven points to Kansas City sixty in their first three games.
All Right, the Chiefs look like they're getting older, they're
getting a little longer under tooth, and they're banged up.
Although Piers have Xavier Worthy back, how effectively the VB
three weeks from a separated shoulder. He's not going to

(02:17:56):
have one hundred percent catch radius. Can he take a hit?

Speaker 3 (02:17:58):
You don't know.

Speaker 2 (02:17:59):
But the chief have that DNA and tangible. I just
don't think the Ravens do. They do want paper, but
in these big games, wins. The last time Baltimore really
won the game they needed to win. They've never been
to a super Bowl and they know it. And if
I had to nickel for every talking head to predict
that the Ravens would win the Super Bowl this season. Translation,
they want the Ravens to win a super Bowl. They're
rooting for the Ravens to win the Super Bowl. They

(02:18:21):
have this vested interest in Lamar Jackson winning the Super Bowl. Okay,
maybe they will, but don't tell me, show me. It
starts Sunday in Kansas City. This game is a referendum.
You don't want to start one to three and be
chasing buffalo and chasing your tail the rest of the season.
I think there'll be a lot of teeth gnashing in
Baltimore if they lose that game. By the way, if

the Bernie Frautle Show continues, and oh, by the way,
we'll talk about what's sailing the Titans? Why are they?
Oh in three? What's sailing the New York Giants? Well,
that might be a little easier one. Why are they
really owing three? And we'll do the same with a
saying six teams own three and at least two are

(02:19:25):
going to be owned four come Monday because they face
each other. I'm Bernie Frattle. We're coming to your line
from the Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio Studios.

Speaker 2 (02:19:51):
All right back of the Bernie Frattle Show, Fox Sports Radio,
coming to you live from the La Vegas studios of
Fox Sports rel Video. The Tennessee Titans. Another team zero
to three, one and two against the spread. There's Vegas
win total before the season went six and a half.

Speaker 3 (02:20:08):
Well, they have real problems.

Speaker 2 (02:20:10):
They rank thirty second on offense and twenty eighth on
defense through three game yardage total of six to sixty
seven is the lowest in their entire franchise, going back
fifty two years when they were called the Houston Oilers
and they fired their coach after five games. But I
got to say the loss to Indianapolis had to be

(02:20:31):
really a sign of something maybe that's happening above the
playing field. They were trailing seventeen to six with about
forty seconds in the second quarter. They had fourth to
one from the colts thirty nine yard line. Indy calls
a timeout. Tennessee leaves it's offense on the field, but
the play clock continued to look. Then Tennessee calls a timeout.

(02:20:56):
The Titans and their kicking team on the field with
twenty three seconds on the play clock. Then they apparently
realize a send one of their specially conditioned k balls
that's what's used for kicking plays onto the field, and
what happens the play clock expires amid the confusion that
can't happen in the National Football League. Then the delay
penalty turned a fifty seven yard try into a sixty

(02:21:17):
two yarder, which the Colts blocked, and Indie scored its
own field goal before halftime, and they go in leading
twenty to six instead of seventeen to nine. This came
one possession after their coach, Brian Callahan called for a
sixty four yard attempt which sealed wide rate and two
weeks after Callah had admitted he did not know that
getting one elbow down in bounds is sufficient for a

(02:21:39):
completed pass. These are the type of mistakes that make
losing coaches vulnerable right within their own buildings. And so
unless they all get on the same page in Tennessee,
I gotta say no one has changed more GMS coaches
or what in the last three years. It's incredible. They

(02:22:03):
fired one, two, three, four GMS and three head coaches
and now this week Brian Callahan said he'll give up
his play calling. Total disorganization. Look the New York Giants. Look,
they have more red zone drives, inning and downs than
touchdowns and inconsistent offense. The defense is even ranked lower.

(02:22:24):
You heard the New York caller Brian Dables betting on
Jackson Dart to save his job. We'll see what happens. Finally,
the Saints. I just think the Saints are in a
rebuild and they're playing hard. They're actually being competitive. I mean,
they got smoked by Seattle last week, but they really
hung in there. With San Francisco and Arizona, I think
they're just in a rebuild. So those are your winless teams,

(02:22:46):
and there's still plenty of time. Hope springs Eturnal we
covered all on the Bernie Frattle Show. So in addition
to football, which is American football, even though he played
overseas and kicks off in about four hours here Vikings
in Steel, we also cover the football spelled futbol that
we refer to as soccer in the United States. It's

(02:23:08):
time Christ prophets world of soccer.

Speaker 1 (02:23:11):
The greatest goals, the thrilling finishes, the international drama.

Speaker 5 (02:23:27):
It's all here in this report. From the world of soccer.

Speaker 18 (02:23:31):
Some interesting things going on in the world of soccer
burning Let's start with a couple quick notes. Liverpool suffered
their first loss of the Premier League season, a two
to one to Crystal Palace. As Crystal Palace picks up
that win at home, Manchester City keeps rolling well, Manchester
United keeps falling further and further into more despair. They

(02:23:53):
give up a three to one loss to Brentford. Still
only seven points on the year for the Red Devils
as they sit at a comfortable fourteenth on the table
right now. Not quite not quite in relegation territory this early,
but certainly one there to keep in mind. Crystal Palace
we mentioned earlier, by the way, second on the table

(02:24:14):
right now. Interesting to see if they'll keep it together.
I've long been a fan of Crystal Palace and how
they have been building their roster. But I do want
to take the world of soccer state side. We have
not talked about MLS much this year, owing to the
fact that this European calendar has been incredibly busy. The
international breaks have really caught up to us, and the
Club World Cup really gummed up a lot of things,

(02:24:37):
so there really wasn't a lot of time for MLS
to make its mark, and now we are sitting here
at I believe three more weekends to go after this
current one is all that's left before MLS starts going
to the MLS Cup playoffs.

Speaker 5 (02:24:53):
And the Supporters Shield is a big deal.

Speaker 18 (02:24:56):
And the Supporter Shield, for those who don't know, is
usually how other leagues around the world determine their domestic
champion by points by the points leader at the end
of the season. Soccer is a marathon, not a sprint
for many many people out there, so the Supporter Shield
is incredibly important, almost as important as the MLS Cup

(02:25:16):
itself in the annals of MLS. The current reigning title
for that Supporter Shield is Intero Miami and a real
critical draw on Saturday might have denied them a chance
to go back to back and unfortunately it's some frustration

(02:25:37):
for one Lionel Messi, who has been enjoying as a
decent season for him. He's played thirty nine games, thirty.

Speaker 5 (02:25:46):
Two goals, sixteen assists so far.

Speaker 18 (02:25:49):
On the twenty twenty five tally board there but did
not get in against Toronto FC despite having four shots
on goal in this matchup one to one the final
score there. And like I said, there's only a few
more weeks. Inter Miami's got only four more matches to

(02:26:09):
play to make up ground. They sit at fifty six points,
sitting them in the in the standings for the Supporter Shield,
behind San Diego FC at fifty seven, behind Philadelphia Union
at sixty and FC Cincinnati at fifty eight.

Speaker 5 (02:26:28):
Now all of those clubs have played one more match
that Inter Miami has.

Speaker 18 (02:26:33):
But at the same time, it's not really looking pretty,
especially when Philadelphia Union in San Diego FC are both
really looking to be also clinching those number ones, trying
to really battle to make sure they have those number
one seeds for the MLS Cup playoffs as well, and
of course Cincinnati will be in the hunt against Philadelphia.

(02:26:55):
This is to say nothing about the other teams that
are actually bucking up here. Vancouver White Cap also thirty games,
played fifty six points with another outside chance looking in
on the Supporters Shield. It's actually the most competitive I
think we've seen the end of the year for MLS here.
Usually there's been a runaway team that usually picks up

(02:27:16):
the Supporters Shield and sometimes also the Cups more often
than not, usually not because playoff formats are inherently less
about determining the best team through volume as much as
it is getting an exciting result for television at the
end of the day. But with supporter shield, the chances

(02:27:36):
fading for inter Miami, who have clinched a playoff spot,
I think there is a good question as to what
do they really want to focus on right now. Obviously
like keep going, but let's say that Philadelphia Union goes
out and has two more wins and just really buries
you deep. I think at that point you just got

(02:27:56):
to just throw up your hands and start preparing for
the Mlscup itself, because the worst thing to happen inter
Miami would be Lionelle Messi taking some sort of injury
and not being available for these late autumn games into
the winter that MLS plays for its championship. And one

(02:28:16):
more note before we get out of here, Bernie Harry
Kane back to Europe on Friday a four nil destruction
of Bremen by Bayern Munich, and in there Harry Kane
scored his one hundredth goal for Bayern Munich.

Speaker 5 (02:28:32):
He's had a lot more throughout his.

Speaker 18 (02:28:34):
Career, but to really continue to cement the greatness of
Harry Kane, He's sent benchmark. He actually out passed Earling
Holland and Cristiano Ronaldo as being the fastest man to
hit one hundred goals for a club in Europe. He
did it in just one hundred and four matches. Holland

(02:28:58):
and Ronaldo did it in one hundred and five. And
we must also emphasize that Harry Kane at this point
is thirty two. I know he plays in the Dundesliga.
I know that's not the premier league, but right now
it's safe to say Harry Kane still even in this
in his thirties, one of the best players in the

(02:29:18):
world period and it doesn't look like he's stopping anytime soon.
That'll do it for us, Bernie, We'll see you next
time in the world of soccer.

Speaker 2 (02:29:25):
You know, I actually saw Harry Kane. True story may
have twenty twenty four is with my wife in London.
We got the tour of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. It was
right before he departed onto bigger and better things coming up.
We wrap up the show and believe it or not,
today is the last day of the regular season in

(02:29:47):
Major League Baseball, and there were some very interesting, notable,
not necessarily events, but notable observations that took place in
a twenty twenty five season. I want to share with
you a little off the grid. And by the way,
I know Dodgers fans and we broadcast in five to
seventy in Los Angeles are worried. But they've been worried

(02:30:09):
since May when they were ten games over five hundred.
They're worried about their bullpen.

Speaker 3 (02:30:12):
I get it.

Speaker 2 (02:30:13):
I'm telling the October baseball is different. I'm really not
that worried about this Dodgers team. And I said the
same thing last year. And I just want to leave
you with this thought in case you missed it. Saturday night,
the Dodgers' bullpen, who's been much maligned, ended the game
against a very powerful Seattle lineup that included Cal Raley
sixty home runs, Eugenio Suarez who forty nine Diggers, and

(02:30:34):
Julio Rodriguez thirty two home runs. The Dodgers finished their
bullpen checked out. Their bullpen wrapped up the game Saturday
against Seattle with nine straight strikeouts trying and gave up
a hit. The three k's in a row, Vessia three
more and Henriquez three straight in the bottom of the ninth.
His last pitcher was one hundred and two miles an hour. Yeah,

(02:30:56):
I know you didn't see that coming. It might be
an understatement, but I got nine in a row, your
bullpen against the first place team with all their starters playing.
And oh, by the way, well Tany had the day off.
Don't go to sleep on this Dodgers team. And I
mean that. Coming up, we wrap up the show, and again,
in light of a heavy football Sunday, which we've covered

(02:31:19):
a lot tonight, we have to recognize some notable observations
from the twenty twenty five Major League Baseball season. I
think you'd get a kick out of some of these. Hi,
Bernie Fradder would company line from the Las Vegas Fox
Sports Radio Studios don't go away or listening to the
Bernie Fraddle Show in Fox Sports Radio. All right, wrap
it up on the Bernie Frattle Show. Thanks to my producers,

(02:31:41):
Mark and Brienna, appreciate it. Coming up in a few minutes,
you'll be joined by the great Andy Furman. He'll put
a smile on your face. Coming up in about three
hours and forty five minutes. We got the NFL, and
this is also the last Sunday of Major League Baseball.
By the way, I don't want to forget. Be sure
to check out the Draft King Sportsbook, an official sports

(02:32:02):
betting partner of the NFL. Right now, use the promo
code Fox Game. That's Fox Game to claim you're special.
Offer DraftKings, DraftKings the Crown of yours. Don't forget, that's
promo code Fox Game. If the season were to end today,
the Tigers and Guardians would be your wild card entrance,

(02:32:29):
as well as Baltimore, Boston, New York for the right
to play Toronto and Seattle, the National League Dodgers and
Cincinnati for the right to play Philadelphia, the Patterys and
Cubs the right to play the Brewers. But we're going
to get into some season clinching scenarios because that can
change Sunday, the last day has to be played. But
before I get to that, as I mentioned earlier, I
think there were some fairly amazing notables that we you

(02:32:54):
can truly you know, put in the category of takeaways.
Key takeaways from the twenty twenty five season. Now we
know money alone can buy a title. But you know what,
we're finding out a can buy regular season success, and
with regular season success that leads to more butts and seats,
which leads to increased revenues. Just consider this. The teams

(02:33:16):
with the highest attendance through yesterday where the Dodgers, the Potteries,
the Yankees, the Phillies and the Mets, which coincide that
all five are the five highest payrolls dodgors through four
million fans this year. It's incredible. The Pottery is three

(02:33:36):
point three million, the Yankees three point two million, the
Phillies three point two million, and the Mets also just
under three point two million. One of the things these
teams have in common. All five of these teams have
at least two players who are three hundred million dollar contracts.
The New York Mets have Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor.

(02:33:57):
The Phillies have Bryce Harper and tren The Yankees have
Aaron Judge, Garrett Cole Stanton, Gan Carlos Stanton. The Potteries
have mashadow to Teas and Bogarts to Andr Bogart's, and
the Doctors have three o'tani Bets and Yamamoto, even though
ya Momoto hasn't panned out. But when you consider you

(02:34:18):
spend money on these players, you typically win more regular
season games and you put more butts in seats, which
leads to lots more revenues. Not only one of those
five teams or maybe none of them will can can
win all are in the postseason. Aaron Judge continues to
make history, and he seems like he's doing it somewhat

(02:34:38):
under the radar now. The Yankees, in their history twenty
seven World championships, have had their share of boppers, right
Joe Demaggio, Lou Garrett, Mickey Manno, Babe Ruth. Aaron Judge
is moving up that list now. This season, and this
is only Aaron Judge's eighth season in the major leagues,

(02:35:00):
he passed Luke Gerrigg and Joe DiMaggio for the most
multi home run games. He has forty six. He's tied
Mickey Mantle. It took Mantle sixteen seasons to do it.
Babe Ruth had sixty eight multiple home run games in
fourteen seasons, but Aaron Judge is averaging about six per season,

(02:35:21):
so in six more seasons he's going to pass Babe
Ruth Judge will also join after this season. Mickey Mannlin
Jimmy Fox is the only players to win the batting
title and in fifty home runs in the same season,
only the fourth player in history to have four seasons
of fifty home runs or more in the second in

(02:35:43):
the Yankees history. You know, alongside Babe Ruth so Aaron
Judge making tremendous history.

Speaker 3 (02:35:49):
Who else made history this year? Cal Raley?

Speaker 2 (02:35:52):
I just mentioned him. How about that cal Raley sixty
home runs, the most ever by a switch hitter and
the most ever by a catcher. And what's interesting is
go back and google a headlines. Everybody said that Seattle
overpaid cal Rally when they extended him. What happened was
they agreed to a five point six million dollars salary

(02:36:13):
in January to avoid arbitration, but then they extended him
for five more years in ninety nine million, which gave
Hi one hundred and five million for six years. He's
paid for that contract in five months, even AI agrees.
Quote reports on analysis of September twenty five conclude that
cal Raley's six year, one hundred and five million dollar

(02:36:34):
extension has already paid for itself and everybody criticized it.
Another guy toiling in relative obscurity is Paul Skeens, the
Pitchburg Pirate stud who was just a couple of years
removed from winning a national championship for LSU. Paul Skeens
must have done under the radar, because I don't hear

(02:36:54):
anybody talking about it. Finished the twenty twenty five Major
League Baseball season with a one point nine to seven
ERA and became the first qualified pitcher in Major League
Baseball history to do this. In his first two seasons,
he recorded back to back seasons with an ERA of

(02:37:15):
under two. Now to qualify for that, you have to
have had at least one hundred innings pitched. He's also
averaging ten strikeouts per nine innings. Paul Skeen's career ERA,
he's had fifty five starts as a major Leaguer's not
a small sample to decent size is one point nine
to six. That is the lowest mark in Major League

(02:37:37):
Baseball in one hundred and five years. And he's doing
it for the Pittsburgh Pirates. By the way, you keep
hearing about this Cleveland. The Cleveland Guardians are on the
verge of making up the largest deficit. They trailed the
Tigers by fifteen and a half games in major League history,
but it's not really major league history because the Yankees

(02:38:00):
Boston trail the Yankees by more than that in seventy
But here's where I'm going with that. And by the way,
it's kind of anim climactic now because both the Tigers
and the Guardians have clinched their punchter ticket to the playoffs.
What you have to watch for, though, is the Guardians
can clinch the AL Central with a win over the
Rangers or a Tiger's loss to the Red Sox. Now,
if both the Tigers and the Guardians win later today,

(02:38:23):
the Guardians will win the AL Central by virtue of
the fact they owned the tiebreaker. The only way that
Tigers can clinch the AL Central is with a win
and a Guardian's loss.

Speaker 3 (02:38:33):
So there's that. The Toronto Blue Jays.

Speaker 2 (02:38:37):
Can clinch the AL East with a win over the
Rays or a Yankees lost to the Orioles, so the
AL East last day of the season is still not decided.
The Reds the Cincinnati redge can clinch an NL wild
card spot with a win over the Brewers or a

(02:39:00):
Mets lost to the Marlins, and I know that I
know some Mets fans that are just living and dying
on every pitch, probably including our good buddy Jason Smith.
I'm sure this will determine his mood on Monday night.
Come on, you can't tell me that baseball postseason isn't
better with both the Mets and the Yankees in it,
whether you like him or hate him. Right again, the Yankees,

(02:39:21):
they're still alive. They can clinch the Al East with
a win and a Blue Jays loss. And again repeating myself,
but now the Mets, they can clinch it in a
wild card spot if they win and the Reds lose.

Speaker 3 (02:39:34):
So a lot has to happen. So in addition to a.

Speaker 2 (02:39:37):
Great NFL Sunday, we've got a pretty busy baseball Sunday
as well. By this time tomorrow night, the playoffs and
the brackets will be decided, will be rare and to
go on Tuesday. It's gonna do it for the Bernie
Frattles Show. Keep it locked up next the great Andy
Furman right here on Fox Sports Radio

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
