anything about me.
Speaker 4 (01:08):
He's crazier than a else.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
Wrapped that guy, Jonas Knocks, you heard me, the briend.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
Some darkness is lighting up your speakers to establish an
alibi for the day. No lie from the Fox Sports
Radio studios. Here's Jonas Knocks.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Okay, I'll report in this world.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
You know, it's starting to make me wonder that maybe
there's a little bit more motivation as to why some
people are approaching a storyline in the world of sports.
The way to the are. We'll get into that for
you coming up here in just a couple of moments
from now, Jonas Knox, Fox Sports Radio. You can listen
to this show as always on the iHeartRadio app. You
can find us on hundreds of affiliates all across the
(02:13):
country and wherever the hell you are making us a
part of your Saturday. We appreciate you doing so. We'll
be taking you all the way up until four pm
Eastern time, one o'clock Pacific. Here a good lot, and
you know it's a pretty damn good slate of games
here in college football. You got a lot of Top
twenty five matchups. You got some you got the Red
(02:33):
River rivalry, which is my least favorite game in college
football because I can't actually pronounce that correctly. It's three
hours in a row. It's difficult to do. You know,
it's just not fun for me. But you're looking around
the world of college football and it's like, all right, well,
teams are starting to separate themselves. Like you're starting to
see the good teams, the great teams, the not so
good teams, the overrated teams. And then you're starting to
(02:55):
see some of the teams that have gotten some of
the headlines for the wrong reason. And one of those
teams is North Carolina because going into the year, the
thought was, man, North Carolina has done some things. But
you know, if you're asking me when I think of
North Carolina football, I mean, personally, I think of Bucky Brooks. Okay,
(03:16):
but again, I'm low to the network here, right, Some
people are loyal, some people aren't. I'm loyal to the network,
so I think of Bucky Brooks, my guy, longtime radio
partner here. But most people looked at North Carolina it's like, well,
you know, it's more of a basketball school. And then
they hire Bill Belichick and he gets there and it's like,
man like, interesting, hire really interesting, unique approach. Did not
(03:39):
expect the hiring. But he gets the deal and almost immediately,
almost immediately, the conversation went from yeah, but how long
is he going to be there? What's his opt out?
What's the clause in his contract that's going to get
him away from North Carolina asap? I mean immediately before
he could even celebrate the fact that he's a North
(04:02):
Carolina head coach, people are already looking for the exit. Yeah,
but win's he leaving. This isn't gonna go well, anybody
know how the last few years of the Patriots went.
Can't do it without Tom Brady. Oh my god, look
at his smoke, show girl like all of the thing.
He's doing photo shoots and he's completely changed. And Pablo
Torre is doing a deep dive on where he was
(04:23):
when he was caught on the ring camera walking around
with his shirt off doing the walk of shit, I
mean immediately, And then this week comes around and you
got all this stuff kind of floating out there, all
this well, you know it's imminent, it could be within
the next two weeks. There's a recruiting violations and all
(04:44):
these other things going on. Ollie Connolly does a deep
dive on the whole thing and like breaks down how
you've got defensive assistants that are saying, we really screwed
these kids over and we were talking about it last week,
Like yet it is not gone well, Like they got
annihilated by Clemson. That is a get right game for Clemson.
This is bad. People are leaving in the second quarter
(05:06):
and all of this stuff is happening. And then Belichick
and North Carolina release a joint statement, a real brief
one saying we're committed to each other, so on and
so forth. You got the CBS interview the hidden camera,
wasn't the hidden camera? What do they have access to?
Asking all of this stuff is around and so then
(05:27):
Pete Fammeil is on ESPN this morning and he explains
exactly where things are at between North Carolina and Bill Belichick.
Speaker 5 (05:36):
What's real rease is that those statements signaled short term
commitment from both sides, from UNC and from Bill Belichick.
Talking to sources around the industry, the fact that they
needed to make statements five games into the Belichick era
is a signal flare that this is an inflection point
for Bill Belichick and North Carolina. Nothing is imminent with
Bill Belichick and North Carolina from talking to sources, but
(05:58):
appears at the end of this season there's going to
be a crossroads. Either there's significant changes at North Carolina
on the roster, on the staff, in the front office.
They brought in seventy new players. It simply hasn't worked out,
or there's some type of exit for Bill Belichick at
the end of the year.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
So it's all going to go down at the end
of the year, all right. So nothing's happened imminently, nothing's
happened within the next couple of weeks. Nothing's happened before
things go awry even more so all of this build up.
Oh and on top of that, by the way, on
top of that, not to be outdone, assistant coach Armand
(06:34):
Hopkins was suspended for providing extra benefits to players families
in the form of wait for it, sideline passes to games.
So I'll ask you this is that detail a story
at most places, Like if you found out that somebody
with Missouri or somebody with the USC or somebody else
(06:58):
got popped and suspended because they gave the family sideline passes,
would that be news? Would that be a story? Anywhere.
Probably not, But the Sharks are circling and they've been
circling since he signed on the dotted line, since the
rumors came, Hey, what's what's the opt out? When's he
(07:19):
gonna leave? Like, why don't we just call this what
it is? This is payback because Belichick was what not
nice to people in the media, like what did he do?
But he was short with his answers. I mean, he
didn't cut anybody off in traffic, he didn't have a
(07:42):
road rage incident. He didn't pull out a screwdriver and
threaten anybody he didn't like. There was no like, nothing
like that because he was short with the media because
he didn't give you great answers. And since then, since
his hiring at North Carolina, people have been way for
the exit. It's been doom and gloom. It's been this
(08:03):
to that he's going to be gone, and you know what,
he probably is going to be gone after the end
of this year. I mean, Diana Rassini's got a report
out that says, listen, they're committed to each other. They're
going to be committed to this whole thing for a while.
Don't worry about it. It would cost them a lot
to get out of this, but theyre you know, listen,
Mike Lombardi and Bill Belichick are serious about this. You
(08:23):
got Lombardi telling donors from last week A, we're focused
on the freshman. So it's like, so, what is this about. Yes,
it hasn't gone well, but what is the urgency to
want to get rid of him? To get him out
of the football world. Everybody made jokes about him when
he was standing at Chick fil A in between interviews
(08:44):
with the Falcons. Everybody loved the fact that the Falcons
told him no now, and we're not going to hire him.
People were mocking the fact that he didn't get another interview.
You know, people look at this A is lending credence
to the fact that it didn't work. You know that
it was all Tom Brady and not Bill Belichick. And
I'm looking around at all these reports, I'm thinking, when
(09:04):
is there been a week or two weeks that have
gone by where somebody hasn't taken a negative spin on
Bill Belichick's time with North Carolina. And I get it
they haven't produced on the field, But wouldn't you say
that if it was somebody else in their first year
taking over a program with this much change in this
much turnover, maybe you'd give them the grace of at
(09:28):
least a couple of years. I could understand if this
is a blue blood program. I can understand if this
is one of college football's great programs, to where a
guy takes over and they're like, we expect wins right away.
But let's be honest. When's the last time North Carolina
competed for a national championship? I mean, truthfully, like, when's
(09:49):
the last time that happened? So what he gets there
and you were like, Oh, I mean, where's our national title?
Why aren't we ranked in the top five. All this
tells me is people can't get over the fact that
Bill Belichick was mean to them. He was mean to us.
(10:09):
We asked him a question, he gave us a short
answer with no emotion. Yeah, So so how long you
get hold onto that for Like, Hey, he was mean
to me? All right, get over it. If you cover
the Patriots, you think Vrabel's gonna be any nicer? I mean,
(10:30):
at least Rabel. I'll give him credit. He's trying not
to laugh when he's being sarcastic with the media. Belichick's
just a better actor. But because of that, people are
waiting for the end. They can't. I mean, you tell
me shoveling dirt on the grave and Belichick's not even
in the casket yet. So no, he's probably not gonna
(10:51):
resign within the next two weeks. Sorry to bum you
guys out. No, he's probably not going to be fired
within the next two weeks, sorry to bum you guys out.
And yes, he's probably gonna be there for the remains
this season. Maybe he'll be gone after the year and
you'll have to wait to throw a party, But until then,
you got to get over it at some point. Yes,
the guy was short with you, Yes he did it differently,
(11:12):
but stop waiting for his demise and rooting for his
demise and putting stories out there that just don't add up.
At the Jonas Knocks on X at the Jonas Knocks
on X and by the way, you can follow us
on Instagram at Jonas Knox Show. I mentioned this last
week on the show that over the past couple of
years I've noticed something because a lot of people will
(11:32):
make the claim like, hey, what's the best playoff format?
You know, like who's got the best playoffs? Then you
got people out there that'll push for you know, the NHL,
and you know playoff hockey's the best, and listen, man,
it's awesome. It's awesome. It's like a great album that
doesn't have a hit single. It's just a great album.
You could put on any playoff hockey game and just
(11:53):
let it roll, like the energy, the excitement, and if
it goes to overtime and it's a game like, it's awesome.
For my money, the Major League Baseball playoffs is the best,
and I don't think it's close. Love the NHL. It's awesome.
I'll take the Major League Baseball postseason and the MLB
(12:16):
playoffs over anything else. NFL included NBA cute WNBA, even
cuter MLB playoffs And therefore that game last night between
the Mariners and the Tigers that went fifteen innings was fantastic.
(12:39):
I don't have a rooting interest. I don't care it
Like whoever won that game didn't matter to me. I
don't care. What do I care? But I'm watching that game.
And my son's four years old and he loves baseball,
loved like wants to play every day. We're going to
play after the like he loves it, and we're watching
(12:59):
that and he's enthralled by it, like most four year
olds are watching blue or sitting on an iPad or
watching something they probably shouldn't be watching, or that's being
force fed to them by whatever the algorithm is. And
my son's enthralled with two teams he doesn't know their names,
he doesn't know where they're from, he doesn't know who
who's playing who, he doesn't really know any of the players.
(13:24):
Could not get enough. It is the best. And I
don't know if it's because they shorten the series and
it's not a big, drawn out seven game series all
the way around. And I realize hyping it up the
way I am is probably going to mean that there's
a letdown later on tonight in Milwaukee and that's the
game is going to be a wipeout. But what Major
League Baseball presented last night between the Mariners and the
(13:47):
Tigers is why it is the best postseason of the bunch.
And further on that Adam Amein maybe the best in
the business, maybe the best in the business, and that
it's not just you know, trying to fanboy up for
somebody at Fox or Fox Sports One or whichever network
he's calling a game for. On Fox, he's phenomenal. So
(14:11):
what Major League Baseball gave you last night is exactly why.
Over the past couple of years, I've realized it's the best,
and I don't think there's anything that close to it.

About ten minutes from now. We are going to hand
out an award on this show, and man oh man,
maybe the easiest one to hand out all year long,
but probably not what everybody expected when it comes to
one team in the NFL. We'll get into that for
you here on FSR when we hand that out. Coming
(15:43):

and even the ones you don't like. Just search Fox
Sports Radio on YouTube and subscribe. So I saw this
(16:06):
report from Pro Football Talk earlier today, and the reason
why this piqued my interest is that if you haven't
noticed the kicks in the NFL are absurd, Cam Little'
hitting a seventy yarder in the preseason Chase McLaughlin hit
(16:29):
a sixty five yarder. Brandon Aubrey is knocking sixty plus
yard vehicle field goals at a rate we've never seen before.
You saw earlier this year Chris Boswell hit a sixty
yarder against the Jets in weekway, like just you're seeing
it and you're going, well, like you know when when
Justin Tucker hit his long field goal of sixty six yards,
(16:55):
it bounced, it hit the upright, and it's like, you know, okay,
well that was that was really impressive, and he's a
great kicker. But you know, these guys are clearing the
crossbar with five ten yards and you're looking at that, going, oh,
that would have been good from sixty eight seventy. It's
like it's kind of crazy. And so I threw this
(17:16):
out as a joke earlier in the offseason and I
was like, man, I've noticed it. Kicks have gotten longer
by the year. And that was before this season started,
and I kind of threw it out there. They're like, well,
you know, maybe they're all on the gas. Maybe these
guys are on peds, maybe they're passing around something at
some of these kicking clinics, and they're taking it and
(17:36):
all of a sudden like ahha, you know, kind of
joking around about it. Well, this report from Pro Football
Talk comes out and it says the following the new
procedures for the k ball the kicking ball to get
it ready for games. The new procedures dramatically extend the
(17:57):
ability of teams to prepare kicking ball for use in games,
with the goal of making them less slick and expanding
the sweet spot. Previously, teams got new balls right out
of the box not long before kickoff that provided limited
time to prepare the kicking balls. One special teams coordinator
recently told Pro Football Talk that the revised procedures have
(18:20):
indeed helped adding roughly five to seven yards to a
kickers range. So basically, we're going to give you more
time to doctor the footballs so it's easier to make
longer field goals. Isn't that more egregious than peds? I'd
(18:43):
like to take that back. No, they're not on the gas.
This is worse. This is worse. Oh and by the way,
if you think that's hyperbole, let's listen to Eagles defensive
coordinator Vic Fangio discussing is a little over a week ago.
Speaker 7 (19:02):
These kicking balls that they changed this year have drastically
changed the kicking game field goals in particular. So it's
almost like they need an asterisk here, like it was
the live ball era, or the asterisks for those home
runs bonds and so Sim McGuire were hitting. You know,
the way they've changed the ball, the NFL, the kicking
(19:25):
ball has drastically changed the field goals different no, the
kicking balls, And you can ask Clay about it when
he gets in here. But in years past the officials
would rub him down or other people would rub him down,
and you play with him. Now the balls are in
house all week and they kick those balls that they've
(19:46):
had and nobody else touches them. And the guy in
Dallas is going to hit a seventy plus yarder this year,
you can just book it.
Speaker 3 (19:54):
So why is this not but why are people not
outraged by this like the NFL's taking like when Tom
Brady deflated footballs like it was a scandal of epic proportions.
The Patriots have never lived it down. Tom Brady let
air out of a football and there was an investigation
(20:15):
and the Colts ratted him out, and it was all
more cheating by the Patriots, and you had ball boys
and phones destroyed and all. I mean, it was a scandal.
The NFL is allowing teams to doctor footballs, and they'll
use like tricky language in the whole thing to where like, oh,
(20:35):
here's the one thing you can't do. You can't submerse
the ball in water. You can't like put the ball
underwater to get it ready, but you can use water
on the ball. It's like, oh, okay, you just can't
put it underwater. Okay. So what's the difference between a
bath and a shower, because that's what we're talking about here.
You can shower, you just can't take a bath.
Speaker 6 (20:58):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
It feels like I'm gonna get clean either, you know,
Like I don't know what to tell you. It's like,
we're what and look for the record, sweet, if that's
what we're doing, that's what we're doing. It's why I
never get outraged when a guy pisses hot guy tests
positive for something, Okay, whatever, but this is more egregious
(21:19):
than peds. Like when I threw that joke out in
the off season, like hey, maybe these guys are on
the gas, Like I this is more egregious than that.
You're literally doctoring, and you are allowed to doctor an
object used during play. If you take a ped, you're
increasing your chances of success, but there's no guarantees. There's like,
(21:43):
there's no guarantees if a guy goes out and gets
on the gas that he's gonna come in and hit
sixty five home runs. There was a lot of guys
that took peds back in the day. When Fangio is
talking about Sosa and Bonds and Maguire, like, there's a
lot of guys that took peds back in the day
who never got out of the minor leagues. They might
have gone up a level. Maybe you were an a
ball player. You got on the gas and you got
to double a and that was it. But there was
(22:05):
no guarantees. Wouldn't you have more of a chance of
success if you could actually get your hands on the
object and manipulate it the way you wanted it to.
I mean, that's what people told me when Brady got
bustled for to flay Gate, right, that's cheating. I mean
that was like he I mean he was read the
Riot Act. He was like that, that's cheating, correct, that's
(22:28):
what everyone told me. Belichick had to answer for it.
I'd be all sorts of stuff. Tom Brady's a cheater.
I love this and that. I mean, what didn't he
get popped four games for it, like all the even
though they went on to win a Super Bowl afterwards
and all that stuff, and they still won games. But
you know, the Colts ratted them out. The Colts, you know,
had to dime out the Patriots and get here we are,
(22:49):
and the NFL is like, man, how can we increase scoring? Ah,
let's adjust the kickoffs. Oh and I know what else
we can do? Give him more time with the footballs
to get him ready so they can bomb seventy yarders.
That's crazy, Eh, nobody's saying anything about it, like whatever.
Fangio calls that out two weeks ago, and you know
the only thing we're hearing about, man, the Eagles are
(23:09):
a mess. What's happening on offense? Fangio's like, excuse me,
like we've got like sort of allowed cheating to be
taking place here. But okay, and for some like no, Ed,
just what I have nothing to see here? Have you
watched what's happened because of the new kickoffs? By the way,
and because of these new the ability to kick long
(23:32):
field goals, if you do get the ball at the
thirty five, all you need to do is pick up
twenty yards and you're within range. Like that's it. Hey,
just get us to the forty five. You get it
sixty two, right, cool like, And for some reason it's
(23:54):
not a big deal, like, okay, whatever, we're trying to
increase scoring, all right, well, and you know, like handout
Wiszonators like let everybody do whatever they want to do, Like,
let's just I mean, let's let's go. Let's go all
the way with this. If that's the game we're gonna play,
that's I mean, that's fine. Listen again, if that's what
we're doing, that's what we're doing. I just wanted to
(24:15):
be down the middle. As far as criticism goes on
both sides, Brady got buried alive for it back when
he was deflating footballs kickers. Nowadays, it's better for scoring
at the Jonas Knocks on x at Jonas Knock Show
on Instagram and you can hang out with us as
always on the iHeartRadio app. All right's coming up next
here we are going to hand out an award on
(24:36):
this show. That's what we like to do. We are
not always negative. We are nice on this show. So
we're going to hand out that award coming up for
you right here on FSR. But for all the latest
from around the world of sports. A man who's always nice,
he's Martin Wise. Let's go to college football. Jonahs, number
one team in the nation.
Speaker 1 (24:50):
Ohio State five and zero right now with a ten
point lead over Illinois. Illinois just punching it in on
their last drive, twenty to ten with eight thirty left
in the third quarter.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
During the end of the third quarter in Alabama.
Speaker 1 (25:03):
And Missouri, the Crimson Tide getting a field goal to
break a seventeen to seventeen tie. The eighth raining team
in the nation with a twenty to seventeen lead over
the fourteenth right Tigers. Twenty fifth rank Florida State leads
Pittsburgh twenty four to twenty one with five to five
minutes left in the third quarter. There you know, UCLA
turned flipped the switch, Jonas, because that's right. I mean,
(25:25):
what happened the last was the seven quarters of football
they've played have been the best seven quarters of football
they've played in like the last seven years.
Speaker 2 (25:34):
UCLA after the upset of Penn State.
Speaker 1 (25:36):
Right now with a thirty one point lead over Michigan
State thirty eight to seven. They actually just scored a
touchdown nico Io Maliava with three touchdowns one minute forty
five seconds left in the third quarter. There SMU with
the twenty four to seven lead over Stanford. Cincinnati started
the fourth quarter. Cincinnati at the start of the fourth
(25:56):
quarter as well, with a seventeen to three lead over UCF.
Houston piling along Oklahoma State and Army with a twenty
four to nothing lead over Charlotte. And In Major League Baseball,
Labor Torres, fresh off of that fifteen inning stunner instant
Classic last night, announced that he's gonna have to have
hernia surgery.
Speaker 2 (26:15):
He does sports hernia.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
That's been bothering him since September, but he wanted to
have his recovery be during the off season.
Speaker 2 (26:23):
Jonas back to you.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
Hey, Martin, you ever seen a hernia before.
Speaker 1 (26:26):
I've never seen a hernia. I watched I saw what
a hernia can do.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
Glabor Torres was zero for five.
Speaker 3 (26:32):
Yeah, it does have that effect. I was watched remember
the show. I think it's still on Deadliest Catch, Sure Discovery.
Those guys they go out and they get on crab
boats and they're in Alaska and they're just dealing with
freezing cold temperatures. They're loft at these heavy crates. A
dude went to go lift something up and got a
hernia and you could literally see it pop out of
his body. It looked like alien like. He lifted up
(26:54):
his shirt and there was a bulge popping out of
his body. It's wild. And these guys are out there
playing Major League Baseball with a hernia.
Speaker 2 (27:02):
Well, uh gon'ing ozer for five?
Speaker 3 (27:04):
Well kind of playing, I.
Speaker 1 (27:04):
Guess unlesson Llinois scores a touchdown and makes this game
more interesting.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
I know I'll be looking at on YouTube.
Speaker 3 (27:10):
Yeah, it's pretty. Uh it's I mean, it's gross, like
it did. I mean, it is gross. But you know
when you say hernie, I still go back to Deadliest
Catching the guy popping one on the show and he's
like pushing it. It's really you know, it's bizarre. Uh,
that's all I got on hernia's, Thankfully, I don't think
I've ever had one.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
I think it sounds like something you would know, I mean,
pops out like that.
Speaker 3 (27:30):
Yeah. I mean listen to the guy was like moving
it around and still look like a joystick. Yeah, but
hey is what it is, man, it's rough out there
on those waters. Thank you to Martin Weiss. He'll you
with us throughout the course of the show. Jonas Knox
with you here on Fox Sports Radio. By the way,
coming up, we are gonna have another edition of Do
You Care. That'll be yours here on FSR, and we
(27:51):
are brought to you by the original Louisiana Hot Sauce.
It's the perfect balance of peppers, vinegars, and salt, wings, nachos,
burger hit any tailgate food with the bold, handcrafted flavor
of the original Louisiana Hot Sauce. That's Louisiana Hot. Buy
you some, all right? So we are going to have
again Do You Care coming up here in about twelve
(28:13):
minutes from now. That's a tradition here on this show.
Another tradition on this show that probably could qualify for
Do You Care, especially this week, is when we hand
on an award. We call it our TGFG Game of
the Week, our thank God for Gambling Game of the Week,
because if it wasn't for the fact that you could
actually wager on this, you probably wouldn't watch it at
all unless you are a die hard fan of either team.
(28:36):
And even if you were a diehard fan of either team,
if something else came up, you probably go to that instead.
So that we present to you our TGFG game of
the week for this week and it goes to Titans
and Raiders. Tall boy, I'm sure this is a tough
(28:56):
ticket to get. Man, oh man, how many people you
think were Titans fans going We've got the number one
pick in the draft. Where do you guys want to go?
Let's take a road trip to go see a game, Like, oh,
let's go to Vegas. Man, It's like, yeah, sweet, let's
go to Vegas. We could gamble at Mandalay Bay, walk
across the street and go see the Titans play the Raiders.
(29:17):
Pete Carroll's back, Gino Smith is around. This could be awesome.
This could be a real vacation in the middle of autumn, Like,
what a vacation this could be? And then all of
a sudden, the first five weeks happened and both franchises
are like, uh oh, the Titans should not have a
win they won last week because the Arizona Cardinals gave
(29:39):
them a game and it cost their coach one hundred
thousand dollars from being pissed off about it. The Raiders
beat the Patriots in Week one, and I have no
idea how they are awful. Gino Smith is a turnover machine.
Pete Carroll looks like he's ready to go back to
teaching at USC. Derek Carr leaving inspirational videos to the
(30:02):
Raiders and Geno Smith on social media, and I'm thinking
to myself, why they ditched you and you left the
NFL for a reason. What do you care if the
Raiders struggle? And then what are the NFL scheduling gods
give us? They give us this at four h five
Eastern time on Fox in the middle of Sin City.
(30:23):
So our TGFG game of the Week, and maybe the
easiest award to end out all year long, goes to
the Titans and Raiders, because if not for gambling, who's
watching that crap? Anyways, you have many Titans fans, you know,
any Raiders fans. It's gonna be about like, you know,
three thirty local fime, three thirty local time, and you
(30:47):
got Raiders and Titans fans are gonna be hanging out
on the strip. They're gonna be at Mandalay Bay. They're like, oh, hey,
it's three thirty, man, we got like a little over
a half hour before kickoff, right, let's get over there.
They're like, Eh, I don't know, man, these penny slots
or hot I don't know. Yeah, I don't know. Actually,
you know, you guys want to roll over to Lux
Sword see Blue Man Group instead, we can go catch
(31:08):
it at halftime, like, this is an awful game, awful,
but if you got money on it, it still counts
the same at the Jonas Knox on X, at the
Jonas Knox on X, and you can hang out on
Instagram with us as well too at Jonas Knox show
up next though, we are going to have another tradition
on this show. This is where we like to tell
you that brutal truth about several storylines you've been force
(31:30):
fed throughout the course of the week. It's another edition
of do You Caring? It's yours here on FSR Jonas
Knox Fox Sports Radio coming up a little over we'll
call it fifteen minutes from now. We are going to
tell you about somebody in the world of football that
I find myself rooting for all right, and because he's
got to deal with a really unlikable fan base, that's why, okay,
(31:51):
And there's a lot of those. There's a lot of those,
So we'll get into that for you again. Coming up
here a little over fifteen minutes from now now, quick
update around college football. Ohio State with a twenty to
ten lead over Illinois four and a half minutes left
to go on the third quarter there, and Alabama's up
twenty to seventeen over Missouri on the road there in
(32:12):
Colombia with about eleven and a half minutes left to
go in the game there as well too, So Martin
wise will keep you updated on all those scores throughout
the course of this game or the course of this
show as well. But right now it is time for this.
Speaker 6 (32:27):
There are so many stories in the world of sports,
and most of them are a complete waste of time.
Speaker 3 (32:32):
Dmzer reports. Let's get kinky.
Speaker 6 (32:35):
Here's some of the big stories from the last week.
But Jonas, the real question is do you care?
Speaker 3 (32:42):
And for that we turn it over to our executive
producer Bo Benson to find out what the hell people
have been talking about all week.
Speaker 8 (32:47):
Bo Shadora Sanders has been named quarterback two in Cleveland
after Joe Flacco was traded earlier this week to the Bengals. Jonas,
do you care?
Speaker 3 (32:56):
I do? I mean, let me rephrase that. I don't,
young cat, but I do, because I'm trying to figure
out why Shador Sanders being named the backup quarterback is news.
Like that's that's the part that I struggle with, Like
in it. Look, it's a credit to Dion Sanders. It's
(33:16):
a credit to the branding at Colorado. It's a credit
to what they've done. It's not to say that Shador
Sanders can't be a successful quarterback or can't be a
good court But like, have you has anybody heard from
Dylan Gabriel, the starter? Like has anybody has he talked?
Has anybody talked to Cam Wore, the guy who was
taking number one overall in the draft. And this has
(33:36):
been going on for months, And maybe mel Kiper was
onto something when he was outraged. I mean mel Kiper
acted like somebody shot his dog in broad daylight right
in front of him when shad Or Sanders dropped in
the draft. And maybe we all owe melon apology, Like
maybe he was onto something because This is a wild
(33:58):
way to cover somebody who was a fifth round pick
and just got moved up the depth chart because they
traded the number two quarterback who was the starter. It's
crazy and for some reason, this is the story. And
I can assure you, just like when it happened in
the preseason and we were on the air for it.
If Dylan Gabriel throws an interception, you watch watch if
(34:21):
Dylan Gabriel throws an interception in any game that he starts,
one of the first people they pan the camera over
to will be Shit or Sanders. Everybody feeds into it,
and it's been going on for months.
Speaker 8 (34:35):
Next well, speaking of Jonas, do you care that Joe
Flacco was traded to the Bengals.
Speaker 3 (34:40):
Yeah, I think it's awesome.
Speaker 2 (34:41):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (34:42):
I love Joe Flacco. I love the fact that Joe
Flacco is going to end up with He's not going
to be a Hall of Famer, but a really, really,
really good career, super Bowl winning quarterback and a guy
who just decided he was sitting on the couch one day.
Kevin Stefanski gave him accollum was like, hey, man, what
do you think? And you want to come play quarterback
a little bit and say, yeah, why not, I'm not
(35:03):
doing anything, goes in there, wins Comeback Player of the Year,
and next thing you know, he's bouncing around the NFL
and he's a viable option and an upgrade for a
Bengals team that's trying to get in contention so they
can get Joe Burrow back and make a run of
this thing. Let's go live to our I have a
thought on something inside of Christopher for the latest career.
Speaker 9 (35:19):
I have a thought on something, Jonas. Did you know
that Joe Flacco can only be the second quarterback to
beat the scene. He's gonna have a chance to beat
the Packers twice this season. He would only be the
second quarterback all time to ever pull that off if
he did that one Jack Kemp in nineteen sixty two.
Speaker 3 (35:36):
No kidding, By the way, I think if Joe Flacco
does that, he'll have more wins against the Packers than
any Bears quarterback in the last twenty five years. That
is also probably true. Yeah, that's so. There is that next.
Speaker 8 (35:48):
The Washington Commanders have once again ruled out wide receiver
Terry McLaurin for Monday's game against the Bears Jonas, do
you care.
Speaker 3 (35:56):
Not really listen. I mean, I hope Terry mclaurin's healthy
and he got you know, and and all that's awesome.
I do like how the NFL comes up with the schedule.
And remember it was Mike North, not to be mistaken
with the radio legend, my good buddy Mike North. Mike North,
who's like the VP of scheduling or whatever his title
is with the NFL. And he came out and they
were like, hey, you know, did you think that Aaron
(36:18):
Rodgers was going to sign with the Steelers and that's
why you put Steelers Jets week one. He's like, oh,
you know, we don't buy into those narratives and ah this,
and like, okay, so you mean to tell me Bears
Commanders after the Bears coming off a bye week just
happened to land on Monday Night football by accident, just
just an accident, just like you know, it had nothing
(36:41):
to do with the fact that last year the Bears
coming off of bye lost to the Commanders on a
Hail Mary. And it was this one of the storylines
of the NFL and led to the demise of but no, no, no, no, no, no, listen.
The NFL doesn't listen. They're not it's not about narratives.
They're just putting a schedule together. There's a lot of
things to be acted in. Blah blah blah blah blah. Look,
(37:02):
that's a bad loss for the Washington commanders. It feels
like they're a little banged up. Jayden Daniels is not
totally healthy. The Bears are starting to get healthy. But
everybody knows why this was featured on Primetime Next.
Speaker 8 (37:15):
Cowboys earner Jerry Jones was fine for giving Jets fans
the middle finger, although he claimed he meant to give
them a thumbs up. Jonas, do you care?
Speaker 3 (37:23):
Yeah, I do, just a little bit. Listen. I just
got to know how that happens unless you're Antonio Alfonseka
and you've got four hundred fingers on one hand. I
just don't know how that's possible. I don't know how
you lose track of which ones which and then it
comes out that Jerry's not going to appeal as fine, Well,
what's your argument? Honestly? Like I can understand if it
(37:45):
was like the forefinger the ring finger, but the pinky
and the thumb, like you got another one in between
before the math starts to get a little bit funny,
you know what I mean? Like it it just doesn't
it doesn't that up. And so Jerry Jones like, oh,
a total accident. You know, I was trying to give
a thumbs up, but I haven't. Man, Yeah, I hate
when that happens, you know, I hate when that happens.
Speaker 2 (38:05):
He should come out and visit my monkey.
Speaker 3 (38:08):
Well listen, or come visit his fingers. They got a
mind to their owne Jerry, I don't know what's on
your hand, man, I just want to know what's on
his hand? Well does that work?
Speaker 8 (38:24):
I think it was also double birds that he was giving,
so he did it twice, like so both hands misfired.
Speaker 3 (38:32):
So like, what what does he fire a gun with?
Don't answer that. I don't don't like listen, Like we
don't want to listen. We don't want to know what
Jerry's trigger finger is, Like we have like let's not
even go down there, like it's not even we don't
even want to go. But it just it doesn't. So
that's why when they're like, oh, he's not going to
appeel the fire, well, yeah, why would you? Like, like,
why would you do it. What's the argument. Next, I
(38:55):
won't make some glory Philly's reliever.
Speaker 8 (39:00):
He threw the Philly season away on a comeback or
to the mound. Earlier this week, Jonas, do you care?
Speaker 3 (39:07):
Yeah, Unfortunately, I love that. That's gonna be one of
those moments that you're gonna look at and it's just
gonna stay with that guy for the rest of his career.
And he had a really solid season, and you know,
he did his job, like he really did do his job.
You needed to throw a pitch to induce it out
(39:29):
in that moment with Paz at the plate, and he
did it was what a broken back, a broken bat,
back to the mound. It was all there and he
just panicked, and it was on one of the rare
times you could see in the moment a guy just
panic and forget what to do. It's unfortunate. It was
riveting television, but it was at the expense of a
(39:50):
guy who apparently all those players love.
Speaker 8 (39:53):
Next, the Las Vegas Ace has won their third WNBA
title in four years and a four games super the Mercury.
Speaker 3 (39:58):
Jonas, do you care, I'm here to tell you right now,
we don't care. Nope. Next, to.
Speaker 8 (40:05):
The new Jared Leto movie Tron Harris, opened to fourteen
million on Friday. Previous Leto vehicle, Morbi, has opened to
seventeen million. Jonas, do you care, No, there's too much
going on. No offense to Jared Leto thirty seconds to
Mars is a solid band that he's in with his brother.
Speaker 3 (40:21):
No offense. I think he's a very good actor. But
you know, listen, in its football season. I mean, it's
hard for me to get interested in anything else other
than football, postseason, baseball, The NHL's back, the NBA's rolling
around the corner. We got priorities here. You know, there's
a fan base out there that's got to get used
to the new normal. I'll tell you who they are
(40:44):
and why I'm rooting for one person in the world
of football coming up here in just a couple of
moments from now, Jonas Knox, Fox Sports Radio. You can
listen to this show as always on the iHeartRadio app.
You can find us on hundreds of affiliates all across
the country. Wherever you are making us a part of
your Saturday, we appreciate you doing so as we take
(41:05):
you all the way up until the end of this
hour four pm Eastern time, one o'clock Pacific. So we
were talking about this earlier that just some of the
reporting that's been out on Bill Belichick in North Carolina.
You know, probably a rough day for some people out
there because they were expecting Belichick to be gone within
the next two weeks. I mean, those were the stories
(41:25):
that were out earlier this week. The Belichick was going
to be gone. It was only a matter of time
within the next two weeks. It's a dysfunction and chaos
and they're bad and like all these stories, but listen,
people have been writing the demise of Belichick at North
Carolina since before he took the job, and so Diana
Rassini Lee has a report earlier today in which he says, look,
(41:47):
I mean like Mike Lombardi and Belichick are going to
be there, like they plan on being there, Like it's
this isn't happening. Pete Thamill says, this is nothing that's
going to happen imminently. There's going to be maybe some
changes at the end of the year, but it's not
going to be anything to happen in season. But yet,
like all the stories earlier this week where it's over,
it's done, this hasn't worked, and it's Belichick and this
(42:09):
is a bad look for him, and it's like, dude,
like you've even got a story that made the rounds
this week in which there was an assistant coach who
got suspended because you know, he was like, you know,
like giving extras to you know, some of the players
and like maybe he was doing something he shouldn't have done.
And it turns out no, he was given family members
(42:29):
of players some sideline passes like literally like not quote
unquote legal, but also not that big of a deal.
Yet that was a news story that was something we
talked about and I'm pretty sure at just about every
single program around college football if that story came out,
it wouldn't be a big deal. But the problem is
(42:50):
it's Belichick and people cannot get over the fact that
Belichick maybe was mean to them in the media, which
is that's what it feels like to me, Like, that's
what it feels like. It feels like he wasn't as
accessible as maybe we liked him to be, and so
therefore we're going to come after him. It's just the
whole thing's odd. And so Belichick finds himself in the
(43:13):
middle of a season. It's struggling. They're struggling. It hasn't
been working. They brought in a bunch of players. You've
got a group of five head coach that we talked
about last week, telling Bruce Feldman like, I don't know
why they're recruiting the same players as us. They're a
power force score like, all of this, all this stuff
is going on. But then the report comes out earlier
today that yeah, this is not going to happen during
(43:34):
the season. There's gonna be some stuff discussed afterwards and
then we'll go from there. Like, dude, so then what
was this whole week about? What was that.
Speaker 6 (43:45):
Like?
Speaker 3 (43:45):
And then North Carolina and Belichick release a joint statement
and people come out and go, huh, well, the fact
that they had to do that five weeks in means
it's a bad sign. Okay, But what about the fact
that there was a report that said it was over
about that? Like, what about that one that you've got
all these you know, there's leaks in the program. It's like,
(44:07):
come on, dude, like, at some point you got to
get over it. You just got to get over it.
And I say all that to say this. At some point,
Alabama fans got to get over it too. You got
to get over the fact that Nick Saban is no
longer your head coach. You just have to. I know
(44:28):
you don't want to, and I don't blame you. You
had the greatest of all time listened, I get it,
and he left, and you're bummed. The expectations were at
a level that you know, the program maybe hadn't seen
in decades, and so I listened. I totally get it.
I totally get it. But it is funny when you
(44:51):
tell that to Alabama fans because if you remember earlier
this year when they lost to Florida State, who, as
it turns out, you know, maybe a little bit better
than people expected, you know, maybe a little bit better
team than people expected. Earlier this year when they lost
to Florida State. I mean, people in Alabama were outraged.
You remember this one. This was Susie Connery of Guntersville, Alabama.
(45:15):
This was courtesy of w h NT. This was her
talking about how she felt about the direction of the program,
just to I don't know, about a month or.
Speaker 10 (45:23):
So ago, I tell you exactly what I'd do with
the first seventy million I'd pay off Kaitlin to Boor
and get him the heck out of the University of Alabama,
and then I'd take whatever else it took to get
rid of the AD. I'd give them a church money.
I don't know how much of what i'd have, you know,
after paying my taxes, but I'm sure i'd have plenty
with this this kind of deal. But I know I'm
(45:44):
not gonna win. I just hope I win some scratch offs.
Speaker 2 (45:47):
I just do it for the fun.
Speaker 3 (45:49):
So we got people talking about what are you going
to do with the money if you win the lotto,
and it's like, oh, I'd get rid of Kaylen to Boor,
I'd get you know, seventy million. All that's a drop
in the bucket for me. They got to be gone,
all right, So let's go ahead and take a look
at that since then, all right, so let's see when
(46:09):
when when at Georgia beat Vanderbilt ranked team currently at
Missouri fourteenth in the country, And let's see what have
we got here. Let's see, I'm just doing the math here,
just seeing. Oh, they just scored again. So they're up
(46:30):
ten at Missouri, who was undefeated coming into this week
with three minutes and change left to go. Okay, yes,
so here's here's where we are. Saban's not coming back.
Your new normal is a pretty good new normal. You
(46:50):
just got to get used to it now. Okay, you
got to get used to it now. You're going to
be a good team. You are a good team if
this lead holds. You've now beaten several good teams. You
lost to Florida State in week one, as we found
out some things that happen in week one. Eh, you know,
you look back on you go, oh whatever like this.
(47:15):
But this is the problem is that most fan bases
and most programs are teams. And this isn't just college football.
I mean, look at what happened to the Eagles. The
Eagles lost on Thursday night, and people are now whispering
is has Siriani lost control of the team. It's literally
(47:37):
the first time the Eagles have lost back to back
games since the end of the twenty twenty three season.
Before last week against Denver, Philly hadn't lost a game
in like three hundred days. And yet the story when
it comes to the Eagles is home. Oh boy, don't
(48:00):
know about this? Hey, oh boy? You know aj Brown's pissed.
I don't know, guys, I don't know about this. We
got problems here. If you're an Alabama fan, if you're
an Eagles fan, if you're some of these fan bases
around here, like at some point you do have to
(48:20):
sort of take a step back and go, man, you
know what, it could be a lot worse, because it
really could. And I got news for you. Most of
the time. It is like if you're an Eagles fan
Friday morning waking up and you had to wake up
to the fact that not only did the Eagles lose,
but you know, the Phillies defecated down their leg in
(48:42):
the NLDS with an opportunity to force a Game five.
But if I had to ask you, like, hey, would
you rather be an Eagles fan or a Giants fan?
Would what would your answer be?
Speaker 2 (48:51):
Like?
Speaker 3 (48:51):
Would you say, like, well, you know what? Would it be.
Speaker 2 (48:56):
Like?
Speaker 3 (48:56):
You know, like, think about it. If I were to
ask you if you're an Alabama fan, like the morning
after Alabama Florida State, Like who would you rather be?
Would you rather be Alabama? You'd rather be Florida State?
You'd probably say, you know what in that moment, if
you're irrational I'd rather be a Florida State fan. They
look like they got the goods and we got a
guy that we want to buy out with our a
lot of winnings. And then you wait a little while
(49:19):
and you just kind of watch how things progress and
the college football season, and you realize that Florida State
is holding on to a top twenty five ranking by
a thread and are currently tied with Pitt in the
fourth quarter. Like your new normal ain't that bad? Like
(49:40):
it is way worse in a lot of other places
around the world of sports. So I find myself rooting
for Kayland Boor because Kaylan de Boer represents the fact that, yeah,
the great days may be over, but the good days
are still here. You may not win a national championship
(50:00):
this year, but Ty Simpson looks pretty good. Like you
may not be a team that's in the final four
of the College Football Playoff this year, but Alabama's pretty
good and they've got some pretty good wins. And if
this one holds up at Missouri, that's not bad. A
win at Georgia, a team who's been one of the
(50:21):
more dominant teams in college football over the past several years.
You beat Vandy and they've got a quarterback in Diego
Pavia who's celebrating, you know, the game ending, taking knee
and wind the clock down before the game, running his mouth.
You lost to him last year, you won that game.
And now you're at Columbia against Missouri and you're up
(50:41):
by ten with two minutes left, like you got Tennessee
next week. You got like there's like there's signs of like, hey,
this is a pretty good team, like a pretty good program.
As it turns out, Kaylen Boord not a bad coach.
The problem is so many fans don't want to accept
the new normal. The Eagles are still a good I
got news for you. Maybe they're not the dominant team
(51:03):
they were when they hadn't lost for three hundred days,
but they're still pretty good. The issue is irrational fans
who just expect that that's going to be the way
things are at all times moving forward. And I can
tell you look around the sport, whatever sport it is,
most of the time, it's not at the Jonas Knox
on X at the Jonas Knox on X and you
can hang out with us as always on Instagram at
(51:24):
Jonas Knox Show coming up next here, we are going
to tell you about a team in the NFL that
they're looking for answers. Yet the problem is they're only
getting the same answer that everybody else has gotten for
the past couple of decades. Find out who it is
right here on FSR Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio. Quick
(51:49):
update around the world of college football. Ohio State up
thirty four to ten on Illinois, nine minutes left to
go in the fourth quarter. There Alabama leading Missouri now
twenty seven four a minute forty left to go there,
Missouri just scored, And so for the sake of my
take from about ten minutes ago, I gotta sweat that
(52:09):
one out and hope Alabama wins. Otherwise that one's gonna
age poorly. And you've got a Florida State trailing pit
right now with four minutes left to go there in
Tallahassee twenty seven to twenty four. So a plenty of
interesting tidbits. A near turnover just now by Pitt approaching
the red zone of Florida State. But Martin wis I
(52:31):
have you covered on all the details of those games
as they go. Final coming up here bottom of the hour.
By the way, a lot of positive feedback coming in
here on the show. People really really excited.
Speaker 2 (52:42):
We are.
Speaker 3 (52:43):
A minute or an hour and change into the show,
Jason says, I need to be shanked because I'm a
board op bleep, bleep boom. Rites In says, hey, Joe Nads,
(53:03):
listening to you talking about kickers and footballs make me
wish Brandon Aubrey would kick you in the nuts. Unfortunately,
for all your dozens of listeners, you'd have to grow
a pair first. Well, I mean, listen, you know, with
what they're doing with the k balls now in the NFL,
who knows. I mean, Brandon Aubrey could be kicking from
(53:24):
Dallas and probably hit me in the nuts based on
how they're they're allowing people to manipulate the footballs now,
if you missed that report earlier. By the way, that's
a that's a fun one. There's these new k ball
procedures where you can kind of mess with the balls.
They give you more time to mess with the kicking
balls before games and you can do, you know, do
(53:47):
certain things with the ball to get them ready to kick.
And a special teams coordinator told Pro Football Talk that
the revised procedures have helped adding roughly five to seven
yards to a kicker's range. Yeah you think you think
something's up. I mean, boy, wonder what it is they're
hitting seventy yarders in Jacksonville in preseason games. Okay, I mean,
(54:12):
if anything, give Lane Kiffin a tip of the cap.
By the way, Ole miss struggling right now for some reason.
But give Lane Kiffin a tip of the cap. You know,
like Lane Kiffin sent Sebastian Janikowski out to try like
a seventy six yard field goal years ago, and everybody
laughed at the guy. I mean it was you know,
(54:35):
the old Raiders, the the O dot Co, the Coliseum,
the world's largest urinal, and he sends him out there
to kick off dirt. Because that's when the A's and
the Raiders are still sharing a stadium. It was nowhere closed.
He had no shot in hell of making it, but
everyone laughed at Lane Keivin said, oh, he's not fit
to be an NFL head coach. And all these years
later he was just like letting the NFL know, like, hey, man,
(54:56):
why don't you doctor the k balls? And ultimately a
plus later here we are, Hey, do whatever you want
for the football. That's fine, but Tom Brady, you better
not to flate them because that's a big deal. That's
an investigation. But this not out on that. And then
to see here, we're fine, everybody's fine. Okay, pick and shoes.
Pick and shoes. By the way, Rob writes in nothing
(55:20):
gets this flamer Jonas bleep more than hunky beefcakes as
you lather your bleep and baby oil fantasizing about being
ravaged by the duo of your new boy toy on
the Giants scat Bleep and fits f For those of
you wondering who scat d and fits f are, that's
(55:44):
Cam Skataboo and Ryan Fitzpatrick who went shirtless after Thursday
Night Football. So and I would like to say this
for people out there, like now, the NFL is investigating
the concussion protocol because of the way Brian Dayball handled it.
And look, yeah, not a great look. It's not ideal.
That's you know, not exactly the optics you want. You know,
if you're trying to improve the safety of the game
(56:06):
and you got concussion lawsuits and all that, you know,
Brian Dayball is out there yelling at the team position
and he's to you know, I get it. The optics
not ideal, Okay, not ideal for what you're trying to
present in the NFL. What you've worked really hard based
on all the concussion research that has come out. I
get all that. But at the same time, listen, the
(56:26):
guy's trying to save his job. Okay, like he's trying
to save his job, all right, And if you want
Brian Dayball to act accordingly and not stress out about
whether or not Jackson Dart can come back into the game,
maybe you shouldn't be calling for his job after he struggles. Okay,
just saying I get it. But I also get the
Brian Daballs looking around, hearing the whispers about whether or
(56:49):
not he's gonna have a job as a head coach,
you know, much longer with the Giant. So he's trying
to get his best players out there, and right now,
Jackson Dart at least gives him a little bit of
juice and he'd like to see him in the game.
So could it defend Brian Daboll in that regard?
Speaker 2 (57:04):
All right?
Speaker 3 (57:04):

(57:26):
so we'll always pop up at the top of your screen.
So I'm going to give you a guarantee coming up
here in about ten minutes from now. This is going
to be a guarantee of something that's going to happen
in the NFL this weekend. A guarantee, all right, So
that'll be yours hear in about ten minutes from now.
But I mentioned this as I teased it on the
way out of last break, that there's a team in
the NFL that's trying something. The problem is it's happened
(57:50):
seemingly a couple of times already this year. And the
issue is you're trying to solve a problem that's been
in existence for like over twenty years. All right, So
the New York Jets are also a bad football team.
Now you can f eight that and you can use
that clip for the next five years, at least on
(58:14):
this show. It'll save my voice. Who needs AI, I'll
give it to you here. The New York Jets are
a bad football team. Everybody knows that. Everybody gets it.
So the Jets are trying everything. And according to Rich
Sominia of ESPN, before the Jets take off to New England,
and before they took off on Friday, the Jets held
(58:37):
a player's only meeting on defense. You know, want to
get together and like, hey, let's all get together and
talk about things, because we've got to be better than
how we've been. All Right, So what's interesting about this
it's not the first time we've ever heard of this before.
It's also not the first time we've ever heard of
this this season from the Jets. Remember things after Week
(58:58):
one or Week two, I think it was week two,
there was that story that came out where the Jets
had some sort of a secret practice, you know, like
Aaron Glenn was out there, but there were no assistant
coaches allowed, and you had all the players out there.
There was like a secret practice.
Speaker 2 (59:11):
And so.
Speaker 3 (59:15):
What we are being told here is that five games
into the season, we've got a secret practice and a
player's only meeting. And we've got a defensive minded head
coach who's got the only team in the NFL without
a turnover this season. And I don't mean like the
only team without like having a turnover. I mean the
(59:38):
only team without a takeaway causing a turnover, Like they
have not taken the ball away from anybody. They're the
only team in the league. Think about how many bad
football teams they are that you would argue the Jets
are probably better. Then they hire a defensive minded head
coach and they can't get takeaways. It's like historic. And
(59:59):
so now we're a on our second unique practice slash
meeting of the season and it's week six. And that's
why when people push back when I was questioning at
the time, like who are the Jets to tell Aaron
Rodgers they don't need his business, Like who are the
Jets to tell him that they're they're going in a
(01:00:21):
different direction and they're which is what happened? I mean
that that is what happened, Like people can say it
didn't that that is what happened.
Speaker 4 (01:00:30):
Like.
Speaker 3 (01:00:30):
That's why at the time when that story came out,
I was critical because I'm thinking, like, who are the Jets? Like,
why are the Jets telling anybody anything? And the example
I gave it the time was that's like, you know
a homeless guy, you know, sitting on a corner and
being like, you're really gonna wear that out in public?
It's like, well, who are you? You got a pair
(01:00:54):
of dickies that you pulled out of a fire that
you started, and two different pairs of shoes on sleeping
on a pizza box that you didn't even buy. Why
are you judging the way I look? And the Jets
are telling Aaron Rodgers, we're good here, we listen, we
don't need this. And this isn't a knock on Justin
(01:01:15):
Fields per se, but it's just the Jets organization in general.
Like it's all these different things that they do to
try and show that they're like, oh, well, you know,
we got a secret practice and a player's only meet
a meeting, you know, before we get on the plane
to go to New England. And you know, Woody Johnson
(01:01:35):
wants this and he demands this and to his sons
are doing Madden scouting reports. It's like all these stories
that come out and you go, dude, nobody's fixing that.
And it's not necessarily a knock on Aaron Glenn who
bought into it because he was a part of it
when he played. But nobody's fixing that. So we're six
(01:01:57):
weeks in and the Jets have had a secret practice
and a player's only meeting, Like what is next, Like
what's the next thing? Because I mean, listen, I know
the buy is coming up. But you're owing six or
own five. You're bad. You can't create a turnover, and
it feels like your best chance at winning a game
(01:02:20):
was earlier this year, except Chris Boswell stepped in and
kicked a sixty yarder and that was week one at
the Jonas Knocks on X at Jonas Knox Show on
Instagram and again you can hang out with us as
always on the iHeartRadio app. Right, it's coming up next here,
gonna call my shot. I'm gonna guarantee something in the
NFL that will take place or will not take place
this weekend. That'll be yours here on Fox Sports Radio.
(01:02:43):
But for all the latest from around the world of sports,
ladies and gentlemen, I present to you with the one
and only Martin Wise.
Speaker 1 (01:02:49):
Jonas I just want to ask you right now, with
a minute, all right, about fifty two seconds left in
the fourth quarter, Alabama up three, Missouri with the ball
first and ten on their like forty seven yard line.
How do you that lady with a lot of ticket
is feeling.
Speaker 3 (01:03:03):
Oh, she's probably got like a cart and of cigarettes
next to her. I don't want to be judgmental, but
she sounded like a smoker. Sure, probably got like a
cart and of cigarettes next to her. Ashtray is like
spilling over, and she's just she's looking around wallpaper on
the on the walls, peeling a TV dinner in front
of her, and she's just thinking to herself. I knew it.
(01:03:26):
I knew it. But again, for the sake of the take,
I really need Elevates to win this game, right, I
really do. Otherwise we're gonna have to do a lot
of editing of this podcast, more so than we normally
do this. This is not aging well what I said earlier.
Speaker 1 (01:03:41):
I mean, yeah, well, third and ten coming up right now,
forty three seconds left. Missouri does have the ball, but
trailing Alabama trying to take this home, you know, get
a home win here.
Speaker 2 (01:03:53):
We'll see what happens in that. We'll keep you updated there.
Speaker 1 (01:03:55):
Four or fifteen left in the fourth quarter, Ohio State
thirty four seventeenoy with sixteen. Illinois hasn't scored twice in
a single quarter of this game.
Speaker 2 (01:04:05):
Pittsburgh and Florida State.
Speaker 1 (01:04:07):
Florida State giving up thirteen on answers in the fourth
quarter to give Pittsburgh a thirty four to twenty four lead,
but just under two minutes left, Florida State does have
the ball.
Speaker 2 (01:04:17):
One of the plays, the wildest plays you'll see.
Speaker 1 (01:04:19):
Floriday had forced a fumble, popped right back up to
a Pittsburgh player.
Speaker 3 (01:04:23):
There you go, Jonas, all right, oh, we got all right.
Speaker 1 (01:04:27):
We had an Alabama interception and Crimson Tide survive. Jonas
knocked your Tate lives, Yeah, Gate lives.
Speaker 3 (01:04:37):
Hat Susy, put that in your pipe and smoke it.
I'm talking about.
Speaker 1 (01:04:41):
And for everybody who was over there shaking their fist
at Mike Norvel, guess what Tommy Castalano's fifty eight yards
for a touchdown as we speak for forty five left
in the fourth quarter, thirty four to thirty Florida State
trailing extra point pending now old miss in Washington State.
This one has been a back fourth game Washington States.
(01:05:01):
He already lost two games Old Miss, the fourth orrightth
team in the nation. They lead seventeen to fourteen with
seven minutes left on that SEC network.
Speaker 2 (01:05:09):
Where else we have here?
Speaker 1 (01:05:12):
And then let's see in Major League Baseball, Glabor Torres
is going to have surgery on a sports hernia. He
suffered this hernia in September. Obviously, Tigers just got knocked
out of the playoffs yesterday. In that game that I
am still tired from Old Miss hurd me Trinidad Chamberlain's
thirty five yard touchdown pass to Kaden Lee twenty three
(01:05:33):
to fourteen Old Miss over Washington State extra point pending
six point fifty one left in the game.
Speaker 2 (01:05:40):
Back to you, Jonas Martin.
Speaker 3 (01:05:42):
If I were to tell you, let's say, let me well,
if I were to tell you a week ago at
this time, okay, hey, hey, by the way, Penn State
is going to be UCLA's get right game, you'd probably
like either have me arrested, or you'd call Scott Shapiro
and be like, this guy's a drug addict. He's got
to get off the air. And as it turns out,
(01:06:02):
UCLA is back. Listen, here they are back thirty eight
thirteen on the road and East Lansing early kick. Come on.
Speaker 1 (01:06:12):
I think last week the story was okay, Penn State
lost to Oregon twice. This week Ucla what? And you
know what, Jonas in a perfect place. We have Steve
Hartman about to grace the airways.
Speaker 3 (01:06:26):
I oh, Martin, the Ruins, Jerry new Heidel. Let me
tell you a story about Jerry Newheisel's dad when I
was in Westwood one time. Listen. Steve Hartman is one
of the all time greats, and this has got to
be one of the all time great back to back
performances by UCLA football. And we're talking about a guy
(01:06:48):
in Steve Hartman who walks around with a cade McNown
wind up doll in his car at all times. And
he's looking at the Bruins getting right and going on
the road in the Big ten and doing it again
against Michigan State. It's like Michigan State, it's going to
be off and running, you know after you know, with
winning national titles. But damn, that's impressive man.
Speaker 1 (01:07:08):
And finally I should say this, John mattiir warming up.
He looks like he's gonna be a full go Oklahoma, Texas.
Speaker 2 (01:07:15):
Ten minutes from kickoff.
Speaker 3 (01:07:16):
Brevan Venables is saying this week of I don't know.
I don't know anything about an injury. I have no idea, right,
I don't know what you're talking about. I'm unfamiliar with
this injury storyline. And here's the other thing. I really
hope that people nationally have an understanding of something like
the lack of interest in UCLA football is not overblown
like that wrote these. Those really are actual images of
(01:07:39):
the Rose Bowl and whatever numbers they're telling you the
final attendance is like that is inflated.
Speaker 1 (01:07:46):
They count the janitors and the hot dog vendors, and
they count those guys.
Speaker 3 (01:07:53):
Yeah, anybody that's driving around on the streets of Glendale nearby,
they count at the Rose Bowl like that. They're looking
very any to try and boost those numbers up. But
good for UCLA, good for Jerry Neweis, I mean, the
story's awesome. Last week was awesome against Penn State. What
they did on the road in an early kick. The
week after against Michigan State fantastic thirty eight thirteen, and
(01:08:15):
the Bruins are now two to one in the Big ten.
That's awesome. Thank you, Martin Jonas. Knox here on Fox
Sports Radio, by the way, brought to you by the
original Louisiana Hot Sauce. It's the perfect balance of peppers,
vinegar and salt, wings, nachos, burgers, hit any tailgate food
with the bold, handcrafted flavor of the original Louisiana Hot Sauce.
(01:08:36):
That's Louisiana Hot. Buy you some. So we are going
to have our Knox Locks coming up here in about
ten minutes from now, and look some positive momentum when
it comes to Knox Locks. I'll tell you that three
consecutive weeks we've gone two in one. The problem is
we were so bad the first two weeks that we're
still under five hundred, but we got some momentum. We're
(01:08:57):
trying to keep that momentum. We're trying to get back
to at least five hundred. And that'll be yours here
again coming up here about ten minutes from now. One
of the things I can guarantee that I probably should
make as part of my Knox Locks, but it's not
an actual betting line. You can't actually bet on this.
I don't think I don't think you can go to
DraftKings and bet on this. But one of the things
I would like to guarantee is something that will not
(01:09:19):
take place in the Cardinals and Colts game, which is
a one pm Eastern time kickoff on Fox.
Speaker 2 (01:09:26):
All right.
Speaker 3 (01:09:26):
One of the things that is not going to take
place in the Cardinals Colts game is that I can
guarantee you right now, this is a Knox lock in itself.
I can guarantee you right now, nobody on either team
is going to drop the ball before they cross the
goal line. Okay, I can tell you that right now.
All right, you could book that. All right, Call up
(01:09:47):
whoever you got to call. If you're in Vegas right
now and you happen to be there for the Titans
Raiders awful game that's coming up tomorrow, Like whatever you
need to do, call up somebody, be like, hey, can
I get a wager on that? Because I can assure
you that's not going to happen, all right. A. D
Mitchell was supposed to be the example, all right. A.
D Mitchell was supposed to be the example. He did
(01:10:08):
it at Sofi Stadium. He did it against the Rams
with the Colts in a game they probably should have
won their only loss of the season, probably should have
won that one too. A d Mitchell did it, and
then the very next week. De Mercado did it for
the Cardinals last week, and Jonathan Gannon got fined one
hundred thousand dollars by the team because he put his
hands on him afterwards. Okay, those two teams meet up.
(01:10:32):
If somebody from either team does that this game, I
don't want to hear anything like if Jonathan. If somebody
from the Cardinals does it again and Jonathan Gannon tases
a player, he should be given a two year extension, Like,
I don't want to hear anything from anybody because the
way Albert Breer told us the story this week on
Two Pros and a Cup of Joe, is that part
(01:10:55):
of the reason why Jonathan Gannon was so pissed off
about Mari Mercado dropping the ball before he crossed the
goal line, which you know, I mean, it did look
like he technically did cross the goal line, but still
the fact that it was close, you know, ty goes
to the bat to the poor decision. But one of
the things that Albert Breir told us is that why
Jonathan Gannon was so enraged by it is because they literally,
(01:11:19):
in a team meeting put the ad Mitchell play on
in front of the team as a friendly reminder, a
teaching moment. Hey, just a reminder, not that you guys
would do this. Don't do what this guy did from
the Colts. It's dumb. It cost them and they lost
the game. And like what, seventy two hours later, he's
(01:11:40):
got a guy in his team do the exact same thing,
and the Cardinals crapped themselves and lost that game against
the title. Like, so, if it happens again, Jonathan Gannon
deserves no criticism. In fact, he deserves to be rewarded
if he acts out. But I can almost assure you
(01:12:01):
nobody's doing that again because the fact that these two
teams are facing off and squaring off against each other
and they're the two that did it the past two weeks,
that's somebody the football gods or somebody telling you, hey,
hopefully everybody learned their lesson here, and if they didn't,
that head coach shouldn't be held accountable. At the Jonas
Knocks on X at Jonas knock Show on Instagram and
(01:12:23):
you can hang out with us as always on the
iHeartRadio app up next, we're going to close up shop
on this Saturday with another edition of Knox Locks and
it's yours here on FSR Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio.
By the way, coming up about fifteen minutes from now,
top of next hour, make sure you stick around. It'll
be Carmen Vitally and the great Steve Hartman that'll be
(01:12:46):
joining you. They're going to class the joint up, so
make sure you stick around. Listen to Carmen and Steve
coming up here again top of the hour. Just a
warning to Carmen, Steve Hartman is going to be UCLA
heavy in the show. It's going to happen. It's going
to happen on the air, It's going to happen during
the breaks. It's just going to happen. Also probably going
to break down the fact that Penn State, who UCLA
(01:13:08):
just beat, just went down and drew Aller through an
interception in the end zone against Northwestern. So all sorts
of stuff going on in the world of college football.
And you've got the Red River rivalry. Have fun saying that.
That'll be updates on that throughout the course of the show.
So again, Karmen Vitalie Steve Hartman will be taken over
here top of the hour. If you've missed any of
(01:13:30):
this show, though, you can catch the podcast. Just search
Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your podcasts. Right after
the show, today's pot will be posted. Be sure to
follow it, rate it five stars. You can even provide
a review. Again. Just search Fox Sports Radio wherever you
get your podcast. You'll find today's full show posted right
after we get off the air. I'm also going to
tweet out a link to that as well too, at
(01:13:52):
the Jonas Knox on X on Instagram. I will put
the link up in the ig stories at Jonas Knox Show.
And I'll also include the insulting tweets that were sent
earlier in the show as well too, well, the ones
that I can repost, because some of them were not
very nice to you know, to certain coworkers here, so
(01:14:12):
I'm not going to post those. I'm just not going
to do it. You're allowed to insult me, you're not
not allowed to insult other people at the network here.
You know, that's the way this works. So I will
not be handing out that negativity. I will keep it
all to myself and you can see all of that
for you at the Jonas Knox Show on Instagrams, where
we'll post that stuff. Right now, though, it is time
for the week six edition of this Lock It.
Speaker 4 (01:14:36):
Let's lock it and no knocks loucks.
Speaker 3 (01:14:40):
All right, so let's take a look back. Okay, Now
I mentioned this three straight weeks at two and one,
we're seven and eight on the year. We're below five hundred.
But while we're sitting here feeling good about ourselves because
we've had winning weeks three times in a row, it's
the first two weeks that really got away from us.
So that's why we're trying to make up ground. We're
making progress and do so. But if we look back
(01:15:01):
at last week, you know, we had the Saints minus
one and a half against the Giants. I didn't have
a real reason to pick the Saints here other than
the fact that somebody must have known something because New
Orleans hadn't won a game, the Giants were feeling good
about themselves, and then all of a sudden, New Orleans
wins that game. But it's like, all right, well, I'll
take it. I didn't really do anything, but I'll take it.
We also had the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the Seahawks.
(01:15:24):
Tampa Bay goes on the road, they take care of business.
They went it on a field goal. It was a shootout.
You had the Ohio state wide receivers going back and forth.
It was awesome. We had Tampa Bay in that game.
And then we had the Bengals getting ten and a
half points against the Lions. Look, I didn't think Cincinnati
was going to win that game. I just thought they
could at least keep it close. And they got near
(01:15:45):
the number late and then there was a safety and
it just you know, that's exactly why they traded for
Joe Flacco like that, Like that last week's game was
exactly why. So with that set again, two and one
last week, seven and eight over, and it's time for this.
I'm gonna take the Pittsburgh Steelers minus five and a half.
(01:16:08):
So check this out. A little fun fact for you
all right now, this is this is not great. This
is not great if you're the Cleveland Browns. So the
Cleveland Browns are coming off an international game and they
get a team coming off a bye in the Steelers. Now,
this has happened one time before the Dolphins were hosting
the Falcons, back in twenty twenty one. But the reason
(01:16:29):
why this one's even worse is because the Dolphins didn't
have to go on the road. Cleveland just played internationally.
Now they're playing a team on the road who just
came off a bye. Oh and by the way, it's
Dylan Gabriel's second start against Mike Tomlin and the Steelers,
who historically have been great against rookie quarterbacks. Because of that,
(01:16:51):
I like Pittsburgh. I'm not crazy about Pittsburgh's offense and
what it's been, but they're rested, they've got the rookie,
they've got the scheduling quirk, all of that stuff. Can
the Steelers minus five and a half? Look, Baltimore just
needs to get to the bye week, like that's what
this is all about. Like everyone's like, look at it, man,
when's Lamar gonna come back? He'll come back after the bye.
(01:17:12):
And the good news is after the bye, the Ravens
have two more buys because they've got the Bears and
the Dolphins. So that's the good news for Baltimore. But
as it stands right now, this is a terrible matchup
for the Ravens. You've got Sean McVeigh who just got
clowned the last time out on a standalone game on
Thursday night by Mac Jones, whose body was going through
(01:17:34):
riga mortis with cramps the entire time. He too himself
reportedly saw a dead body out in front of the
hotel did mac Jones before the game, So that was
going on, and Sean McVay calls an obvious play that
gets shut down and ends the game in overtime at
home in front of all their forty nine er fans
(01:17:57):
who visit so Fi every time they're in town. Like,
Sean mcvay's pissed. He was pissed. Afterwards. People were yelling
like it, like this is so you get to now
go on the road with a little bit extra rest.
I know it's an early kickoff. I get all that,
but listen, you haven't played in over a week. He's
gotta be living with that this entire time. He's one
of the better play callers in the league, and he's
(01:18:17):
got to be living with the fact that he got
beaten by mac Jones and a bunch of backups. Because
of how many injuries the Niners have, the Baltimore Ravens
defense has been awful. Sean McVay is gonna have tons
of stuff dialed up, and I think the Rams go
in there and I think they put it on the Ravens.
Give me La minus the six and a half. You know,
(01:18:40):
one of these days I'm gonna pick against the Lions
and it's gonna work. One of these days, I'm telling
you it's gonna work. It hasn't worked yet. Hey, Kawhi,
you butt out. You got bigger issues to worry about,
all right, buddy, where's the other twenty million? But one
of these days I'm gonna get it right. And let
me tell you when that day is. That day Sunday,
(01:19:00):
Give me the Kansas City Chiefs minus two and a half.
At home, we're talking about Chris Jones dealing with hustling concerns.
He's not hustling to the ball, and he's getting off
social media. Patrick Mahomes feels like he's playing well and
then he throws an interception. If you look at the
Detroit Lions wins, it's against a lot of bad football teams.
