Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Welcome man, everybody, Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Saturday, Eric Towards,
Jason Martin. We are broadcasting live from the Fox Sports
Radio studios. It is eleven oh one Eastern time. As
the Saga just told you, a bunch of games just
went final, Texas A and M beating Florida at home,
USC with the very nice win over Michigan. And we

(00:27):
do have a couple other games still going on. Utah
in Salt Lake City leads twenty first ranks. Arizona State
by you and Arizona are playing in Tucson. Story right now,
jam Hart though, Georgia Auburn, and let me just say this,

(00:48):
this one should come with a with a TV rating
or something, because this is X rated as far as
how bad Auburn is getting screwed. Georgia up thirteen to
ten with about nine minutes to go. And I'll just
set this up, Jamark. It's been a debacle for the
refs all game long, but this game swung. Auburn was

(01:12):
up ten to nothing with about two minutes to go
in the first half on the goal line. First of all,
they get stopped at the one yard line, that was
even a little bit questionable. I'd have to go back
and really look at that. But at the time you think, oh,
it's actually a good thing because guess what ends up happening.
You get to run some more time off the clock

(01:33):
before you punch it in. Jackson Arnold, the Auburn quarterback,
dives across the goal line. Simultaneously, the ball gets knocked out. Georgia,
by the way, picks it up, returns it for a touchdown.
It's called a fumble on the field, and I you know,
real quick, I'll just say and I'll toss it over
to you depending. You know, if you're a Georgia fan,

(01:57):
do you think they got the call right? If you're
an Auburn fan, you think they got the call wrong.
They end up calling it a fumble on the field.
Georgia gets the ball back with under two minutes to go,
drives the length of the field, kicks a field goal.
They have now scored thirteen straight points. They're up thirteen
to ten. We'll see who wins, and we'll see who
loses that game. Jmar. But that was no doubt a

(02:21):
game changing and potentially season changing play. Frankly for both
Georgia and Auburn. If Georgia can hold on for this win.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
Yeah, so, I mean it's ten to three. That would
have made it seventeen to three. All the momentum was
going towards Auburn.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
It's ten nothing by the.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Way, ten nothing. Sorry, Yeah, And that completely changed the
tenor of everything. And I saw this. I saw a
couple of people mention this that basically both teams had
a touchdown taken off the boards.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
I saw that, yeah, on.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
The exact same play, and could realistically say that they
were screwed. I think he broke the plane first. It
was obviously very close. A lot of people would say,
whatever the call in the field is just kind of
have to stand there not confirm it, but there's not
enough evidence to overturn it. I personally think that Auburn
got short into the stick there, but it was close

(03:10):
enough that you're gonna be able to argue it probably
both ways. Either way. It took forever, that's the other thing.
It destroyed the momentum of the game. And then right
after that they did another official review on like one
of the next two or three plays and shut down
the game again. Hugh Freeze was irate going into the break.

(03:31):
When he was talking to Molly McGrath, he was just
kind of like listen, like even if even if that
thing wasn't uphild, he said, this is the longest half
of football ever, and it was like it was just
like interminably long for you can't do that, Like we
got to find a way to get it right faster
than that. I understand how important it is and all
of this, but we did not pay to see the officials.

(03:55):
We did not pay to hear ESPN's rules experts. We
didn't we didn't pay for any of this. Like, let's
get back to the football game. It took so long
to try and get this thing done, And really, I
don't think Auburn has looked anywhere near the same since
that play. They just haven't. The offense hasn't been clicking,
and it's not like they're a prolific offense anyway, but

(04:16):
it just seemed to take the wind out of the
sales of that entire stadium. Obviously, the game is not over,
but Auburn just hasn't been able to muster much of
anything offensively since.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
One hundred percent right. There were two separate after the
ball was given to Georgia one to your point, and
it was you know, I'm still actually a little bit
confused on this. Is you know, again, the ball was
picked up by Georgia and run back and they called
it Georgia down on the one yard line, which made

(04:47):
no sense. That's another part of it, by the way,
was that Albert actually called the time out after the
first play, hoping to get the ball back before the half.
But yeah, I don't even know what else there really
is to say, by the way, and then, oh, by
the way, the point I was gonna make bring up
is that on the ensuing drive, when Georgia did get

(05:08):
the ball back on the one yard line after they
picked up the first down, two separate penalties on Auburn
both deemed you know, both were reviewed. It was interesting,
to say the least. J mart I was supposed to
leave the house, so we're on air at eleven Eastern time.
I was set to leave it about nine oh five,
ended up leaving about I'm not even kidding about nine

(05:29):
to forty five Eastern time six forty five Pacific, because
it took that long to get through the final two
minutes of the first half. By the way, we have
sort of a seminal important moment here. Georgia is gonna
have about a fourth and fourth. It looks like they're
gonna go for it on fourth down at about midfield.
It's fourth and three, about five minutes left in this game.

(05:53):
Certainly Auburn has two timeouts, Georgia has two timeouts, and
Georgia has picked up a first down, they will be
able to continue to keep the clock moving. It's tough,
j Mart, because I think it's fair to say that
Auburn absolutely got screwed, and I think it's absolutely fair
to say, like you said, those plays took all the
momentum out of the stadium. Auburn has just not been

(06:17):
able to do anything in Georgia, to their credit, has
figured some things out. But they had twenty yards of
total offense. This is Georgia, twenty yards of total offense
before that crucial call right before the first half.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
Again, for people, they don't have a twelve place called,
they don't have like twelve offensive snaps. They could do
absolutely nothing. And we're talking about folks. We're not talking
about like ten minutes into the game. We're talking about
two minutes left in the first half, less than two
minutes left in the first half, they could do zero
against Auburn's defense, Like it was kind of amazing to watch.

(06:49):
It was.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
By the way, Brandon, I see you back there. You
should be make sure you monitor for Hugh Free's postgame
sound tonight because I think we'll get some fireworks out
of the Auburn Georgia post game. By the way, Kirby Smart,
you know, a couple of calls go you know, went
against him as well. But Georgia up thirteen to ten
Jmar And you know the other thing too, is when
it looked like Auburn was gonna go up seventeen to nothing,
you know, George's already got that loss to Alabama. They

(07:12):
play Ole Miss next week. They needed the miracle win
at Tennessee. It's like, you know, you know, we've been
told that we can't overreact to stuff in this twelve
team playoff era. But if Georgia were to lose this game,
and again it is thirteen to ten now under four
minutes to go in the fourth quarter, if they were
to lose this game, you know that would have been

(07:35):
a second loss by middle of October. Still have to
play Old Miss next week's to have a couple of
big games. I think they're gonna go hold on their
infield goal range. Is the clock ticks down to about
three minutes third and one. If they get the first
down here, they can basically essentially ice the game. Not totally, actually,

(07:55):
I guess, because there's still the two minute timeout. Plus
Auburn does have two timeouts. So we'll see. If Georgia
gets a first down here, it would be tough uphill sledding,
but we will see what happens. And surprise prize, there's
a penalty that is one thing to a lot of
penalties in this game. All right, So Fox Sports Radio
aeron tourist Jason Martin tell you what, j Mark, why

(08:17):
don't we come back? And why don't we talk about
just an insane day. We'll keep everybody updated. Georgia up
three third and one with about three minutes to go
in this game, up thirteen to ten, and as mentioned,
Texas A and M with the big win this evening
a couple other results that went final. USC actually a
pretty significant win. But man, oh man, j mart we

(08:38):
got a lot to talk about. Indiana top ten road
win at Oregon Penn State season's basically over. There's so
much to discuss, We're gonna discuss it all. Should mention.

Forgebecks college football, it's at least worth acknowledging we are
down to a final four Major League Baseball. The Milwaukee
Brewers win Game five of the NLDS in Milwaukee over
the Chicago Cubs three to one on Saturday night. They'll

(11:06):
face the Dodgers in Game one at home on Monday,
and of course, the Alcs kicks off fresh off the
fifteen inning thriller from the Seattle I was gonna say,
Seattle Seahawks the Seattle Mariners on Friday night. They will
travel to Toronto real quick. Any any big baseball takes
as we are down to four. Obviously, we had the

(11:27):
thriller on Friday night in Seattle and Milwaukee taking care
of business month on Saturday night.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
I mean no, I mean obviously the Friday night game
was just a great one. You and I caught it
before it ended.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
I'll let the cat out of the bag. Well, I'm
not watched every pitch, No, I'm kidding.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
Before it ended. Just means I tuned in in the
second Okay, Okay, no, not quite. But I imagine a lot
of people kind of found out about it through the
course of the night. Maybe we're following it along with some
other things that they were doing on a Friday night,
and then as it continued to go on, You're like, oh, okay,
I probably need to go to it and see this,
and it just kept on going and kept on going,
finally came to an end, and then a good atmosphere

(12:07):
in Milwaukee today. Three solo homers. I watched probably the
back half of that game. I had five screens simultaneously
because there was so much going on on this sports Saturday.
But I will say this, with my braves out of it,
I just like the fact that we might have some
new blood, like I speak for not you, I'm sure Aaron,
and probably not a lot of the people in that

(12:28):
studio out there, but outside of that studio, imagine a
lot of us are Brewers fans right now. Just the
Dodgers is just kind of like there's not really any
reason to hate their individual players. It's just kind of
the money involved and who they've been able to go
and get and all this other kind of stuff. It's

(12:48):
just Milwaukee doesn't get this opportunity too often, so that's
pretty cool. The Blue Jays have a really nice fan base.
They don't get that big opportunity that often either. Sometimes
they have great regular seasons, they can't put it together
in the post, so you like that. And then the Mariners.
Mariners just haven't really been much for such a long time.
I like the idea that we have whatever's coming out

(13:10):
of the AL is gonna be a little bit new,
It's gonna be a little bit fresh, and I like that.
Like the only like real heavy hitter is the Dodgers,
And yeah, that could be the representative from the NL.
We'll find out, but I think it portends maybe not
great for just overall ratings, but for my interest level,

(13:30):
I'm a little bit more interested, just because you know,
fan bases that haven't had that opportunity might have a
shot to celebrate a championship.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
Yeah, I live in LA did not grow up here.
Wife is a Dodgers fan. Obviously. You know, when you
live in a city, you kind of, I don't want
to say adopt a team, but you know, it's hard
not to get into it. The Dodgers right now are
kind of the city's team, certainly more so than the
than the Lakers, who you know, they're they're they're Hennessy spokesman.
This week certainly made some news. We'll probably save that

(13:59):
for another time, but it's hard not to get wrapped
up in it. But as I'll say this, Jay Martin
as a child of the nineties, you know, I was
thinking about this last night. One of my first Vivid
sports memories was Edgar Martinez, you know whatever. It ended
up being a double down the line, Ken Grify Junior
scoring from first jumping into Alex Rodriguez's arms. Obviously, growing

(14:20):
up as a kid, the Mariners were such a big
brand and such a cool brand, and so to see
them back on this stage for the first time since
two thousand and one is very cool. Blue Jays, obviously,
it speaks for itself what they mean to the entire
country of Canada. So we'll see what happens. Game one
of the ALCS is on Sunday night. Game two or

(14:42):
Game one of the NLCS is Monday night as well.
Should keep everybody updated on what's going on in Auburn, Alabama.
Georgia had a third and one Gunner Stockton runs in
for a touchdown. Georgia up twenty to ten with a
little under two minutes to go. It's now a two
score game. You know, Jamar, we got plenty of time
to react to this. But again, for people who are

(15:05):
just joining us, the story of the game. Auburn was
up ten to nothing on the goal line late in
the first half sketchy play, to say the least on
the goal line, depending depending on the football is fumbled,
but depending on what angle you look at, it certainly
looked like Auburn crossed the goal line. It was called

(15:26):
a fumble. Auburn has not scored a Touchdow has not
scored a point since Georgia on a twenty to nothing run.
And I'll say this, you know Auburn, of course, two
games ago, three weeks ago, they got the the we
screwed up email or the we screwed up statement from
the SEC after the after the Oklahoma game because there

(15:46):
was an illegal play call for a touchdown. They're probably
gonna get another one of those this week because two
or three very sketchy plays don't go their way. Auburn
trailing twenty to ten with under two minutes to go, let's.

Speaker 3 (15:59):
Some of those things are going to happen. I will
say this before we move on. Just the real difference
though in this game, just watching it, Jackson Arnold doesn't
make a bunch of big mistakes, right, Like he doesn't
lose you a lot of football games, but he also
just doesn't do enough to win you football games. Like
he's He's solid enough, right, but he's more of a
caretaker than anything else. Like he just he doesn't have

(16:22):
that quality where he's going to go out and make
the play that you have to have in the moment
to put you over the top. This Auburn defense is
phenomenal and they've got some great skill talent. Arnold's not
going to give you five turnovers or something like that,
but he's also not going to throw five touchdowns, where
on the other side, for Georgia Stockton can and has
made those plays when he's had to. That's the difference.

(16:43):
Like Arnold just doesn't have that. It factored to me.
So I just kind of look at Auburn and just
think that's a very incomplete old style SEC team, Like
they feel like a team ripped out of twenty years
ago SEC where you didn't have to have a ton
of offense and you could win games almost in single
digits if you had that kind of defense, and that
that's only going to work to a point. Everything has

(17:05):
to go perfectly for that to go, and tonight it
just finally didn't. I mean, you look at Arnold's numbers,
there's just not enough there. There's just not enough offense.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
There the stat they showed on TV, Now this was
before this last drive, so the stats are a little
bit skewed. But before the fumble on the goal line,
Georgia twenty yards of total offense, Auburn two hundred and
thirty eight. After the fumble on the goal line, Georgia
two hundred and sixty one yards of total offense Auburn fourteen.

(17:37):
So yeah, I think they've added maybe another ten on
this last drive, but it is ugly Alburn about to
fall to zero to three in the SEC and yeah,
to your point, real QUI, because I want to get
some other stuff. The disappointing thing is that is a
National Championship caliber defense. I mean, yes, A and M
which has scored thirty plus points in the last two games.

(17:58):
They won thirty one fourteen or third went seventeen tonight,
had one touchdown. They won I think sixteen to ten
against Auburn, and they scored on the opening drive of
the game and then did not score the rest of
the way. So that kind of shows you where things are.
But I think it looks as though Georgia is going
to hold on. Let's get into some other stuff, J Mart.

(18:18):
I'll tell you this, The one game that I, frankly
just really had zero feel four coming into this this
afternoon was Indiana and Oregon. I have been, we all
have been, like not not, we all have been. But
a lot of people have enjoyed the Hoosiers ride. I
think there were some people that questioned whether they should
have been in the playoff last year based on the resume.

(18:41):
But I bring it up because you know, I did
like them in the preseason. I thought they had a
chance to be good. Did not think they were going
to Austin Stadium on Saturday and winning though Indiana with
the thirty to twenty win against Oregon. Oregon the last
time we saw them, they were winning at Penn State.
Penn State. It's another conversation we'll have in a minit
But Indiana holding Oregon under three hundred yards of total offense,

(19:04):
Fernando Mendoza, the quarterback who may be a first round
or twenty of thirty one passing one touchdown and Indiana
outrushing Oregon on the road. Awesome story, Just just an awesome, awesome,
awesome story. By the way, really quick turnover on downs
at Auburn, Georgia is officially taking a knee and they're
going to survive. Let's focus on Indiana for right now. Jmartin.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
Really that's the biggest story of the whole day, not
because Oregon lost, but because Indiana is the kind of
team that's supposed to go lose that game. Indiana, the
way that we have come to understand college football, is
a team that, oh, it's a very very nice story,
and then they go out there and they get bow

(19:47):
raced and they come back to earth. That's what Indiana's
supposed to do. And after the pick six, it felt like, okay,
all right, every Indiana team we've ever seen would lose
the game after this, After I mean, after that Mendoza mistake,
they're not coming back from this. The momentum just shifted.

(20:10):
And that's exactly what did not happen. I am, I
don't know how to. It's just incredible because they got
into the College Football Playoff last year, and they easily
could have been that team that got in that we
never hear from again. That's middle of the road. After that, obviously,
the program's in a better place than it was.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
But all right, well quick, real quick, SMU four and
two this year exactly, I haven't thought one second about SMU,
so go ahead and continue.

Speaker 3 (20:38):
But yeah, SMU was was a perfect example of the
same thing. I was thinking. Indiana is the new Wisconsin
right now, That's what I'll tell you what.

Speaker 2 (20:49):
Wisconsin might be the new Indiana too, because they they steak.
I don't mean to change the subject.

Speaker 3 (20:55):
That's terrible.

Speaker 2 (20:56):
I think they lost thirty seven nothing to Iowa. Iowa
hasn't scored thirty seven points in the last seven seasons combined.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
But seger get I was about to say to Sega
get on this. Have there been full seasons in Kirk
Farrence's time at Iowa in which thirty seven offensive points
were not scored by the Well you realized they held
or this is what was impressive to me, Like we
knew that they could score. We knew that Indiana had
an offense. But they've gotten nasty on defense. Yeah, they've
gotten really nasty on defense. They held Oregon to thirteen points.

(21:27):
Yes it was thirty to twenty, but that includes that
pick six. So thirteen offensive points at Oddson Stadium in
that crazy environment. Kurt Signetti, you asked this question about
a month ago. Maybe even it might have even been
two three weeks ago, and I said, I didn't think
it was a crazy question to ask, but I don't

(21:47):
think that I could quite get there. You said, it
is Kurt Signetti the best coach in the country. I'm
not so sure the answer isn't yes at this point
because I understand that we're in a different universe now.
Indiana is not supposed to do this. Aaron, I agree,
they're not supposed to do this. They can be in
the top fifteen, they can be a cool story, they

(22:08):
can inch their way into the college football playoffs. They're
not supposed to go to Oregon, a team that we've
already seen this year do some special things that's not
supposed to happen. Like I'm like getting tongue tied trying
to explain it. It was so impressive to watch. They

(22:29):
took it to Oregon. They took the ball away from
a quarterback who came in looking like he could be
a Heisman front runner, and ended basically saying, all right,
it is now Ty Simpsons to lose. That's what I
felt like after this day of football, is that that's
the guy right now. But this Indiana team is not

(22:50):
second tier. This Maybe Indiana is the New Penn State.
Like maybe it's not even Wisconsin. But I'm just looking
at it in terms of, you know, there's still going
to be a lot of football left play, But this
Indiana team could end the season with one loss. They
could easily end the season with one loss. As a
matter of fact, Like you look at their schedule. They

(23:11):
they may see Ohio State, but they're not going to
see them until the postseason. They don't play them in
the regular season. Are we really worried about Penn State
at this point? I'm not, Okay, I want to understand.
I want to play a fun game really quick. Yeah. Sure.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
Their final six Michigan State at home, Ucla at home,
at Maryland, at Penn State. By the way, it is
sad news. We can make fun of Penn State, but
Drew Aller is out for the year. Wisconsin at Purdue.
I'm gonna say something, covery. Is Ucla the toughest game
left on their schedule to get twelve?

Speaker 3 (23:42):
Number two? Yeah, but yeah, I think that's probably right.
I mean Michigan State because Ucla boat race them on Saturday.
It ain't Penn State without it's Penn State. We're going
to talk about that. We don't even have to add
that in right now, Purdue is not good at all.
That requires absolutely no exposition whatsoever. Like everything else on

(24:04):
that schedule is just not that difficult, like them going
to Oregon and doing this. It would take something catastrophic
for them not to make the playoff in a deserved
fashion where it's not like they don't deserve, like the
whole discussion last year that they didn't deserve to be
in and then when they played in the game against
Notre Dame, they proved they shouldn't know. Uh huh, absolutely
not not going to entertain that whatsoever. After the game

(24:26):
that I watched on Saturday, No, that's a super impressive win.
And I said when I was watching that, I was
just like, man, Penn State would love Kurt Signetti. Oh,
that's exactly the coach that they want, and it's exactly
the opposite of the coach that they have.

Speaker 2 (24:41):
Well, how about this stat we talked about two weeks, well,
three saturdays ago. Now, I don't know if you remember,
I dropped the Penn State four and twenty one in
top ten games under James Franklin, two of them coming
in twenty sixteen. So that means by default. Since twenty seventeen,
they've won two games against top ten opponents. Indiana's done

(25:04):
that in the last three weeks because they beat Wisconsin
or they beat Illinois. I know Illinois is no longer
ranked in the top ten, but they were at the time,
and they take care of business against Oregon really quick.
J Martin, anything to add on Indiana other than I'm
just and by the way, another thing too is I think,
you know, I think really quick. I think we're past

(25:24):
the point of a game happening and us just being like, well,
maybe that team isn't that good. Like I think if
this happens in week two, we're like, wow, maybe just
Oregon's not. No, Oregon's freaking good. Okay, this, by the way,
first loss of their Big ten. You know, they they
hadn't lost a Big ten game last year, So I
just bring it up because this isn't one that you

(25:44):
can chalk up to, well, how good.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
Is Oregon written?

Speaker 2 (25:47):
No, Oregon's really good. Indiana goes and dominates that game
thirty to twenty win, and the jay Marts point, I
think we're looking at a twelve to zero Indiana Hoosiers
playing for a Big ten championship. We'll see who it's against,
probably the Ohio State buck guys, who very well could
be twelve to zero as well. Those teams don't play
in the regular season this year, but Ohio State had

(26:08):
a nice impressive win on Saturday as well. Fox Sports
Radio Air Tours Jason Martin broadcasting live from the Fox
Sports Radio studios. We referenced team that did not have
an impressive win on Saturday, Penn State Knitney Lions season over.
Is James Franklin's time in State College over. We're gonna
discuss that next. Before we do, though, let's get it

(26:29):
over the news desk.

Speaker 3 (26:31):
De saga.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
We got. I don't know how you're gonna fit it
all into a two or three minute update here.

Speaker 7 (26:35):
We got three hours to get to everything. So the
floor is yours, my friend. You mentioned Penn State. They've
lost three in a row, lost at home to Northwestern,
a team that just a couple weeks ago beat UCLA
by the way twenty two to twenty one. And yes,
Penn State quarterback True Ler is out for the year
with a leg injury. You mentioned the Iowa win tonight.
In fact, Iowa has not allowed a point in a
third quarter. Yet this season they won at Wisconsin thirty

(26:58):
seven nothing tonight. The last time they had shut out
Wisconsin in Madison was nineteen twenty nine. Nineteen twenty nine people.

Speaker 2 (27:08):
I saw stat on the Fox FS one broadcast. It
was Wisconsin's first home shutout I believe against the Big
ten team since nineteen eighty that's forty five years.

Speaker 7 (27:19):
Iowa has not scored thirty seven in Madison ever until tonight.
We have others to mention, but there's good things that
are happening in Wisconsin, like the Brewers winning tonight in
Game five of the best of five NL Division series
and they beat the rival Cubs. You know how the
Cubs have their go Cubs co song, and we heard
that a lot those last couple of wins they had

(27:41):
at Wrigley to stay alive in this series, and they
bring out the flag, the white flag with the big
blue w on it. Well, as the Brewers celebrated on
the field and took a big team picture, someone broke
out a big white flag with a large blue l
on it as they just eminated the Chicago Cubs three

(28:02):
to one. The five lover the Cubbies. Tonight, Brewers hit
three home runs in this game and so far in
this postseason. If you out homer your opponent, pretty good
chance you're winning. Record of sixteen and four Cubs had
one homer that was part of an offense that went
four for thirty one tonight. So the NLCS begins Monday
night Dodgers at Brewers. That was the National League Championship

(28:23):
Series matchup in twenty eighteen and it went the full seven,
with the Dodgers taking Game seven in Milwaukee that year.
The ALCS starts Sunday night on Fox TV Seattle at Toronto.
You were talking about the history of the team still
alive Seattle and the Brewers have never won a World
Series title. Toronto hasn't won it all since nineteen ninety

(28:43):
two and ninety three. Detroit, by the way, still hasn't
won one since nineteen eighty four. Eliminated in so many
extra innings last night, Commander's wide receiver Deebo Samuel missed
another practice with the Bruce Heal. Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray
likely out with the spring foot tomorrow, according to NFL Network.
As for the college football that's in progress, there was

(29:04):
a lightning delay in Tucson after the first quarter of
over an hour, so right now they're late. In the
third Arizona leads number eighteen BYU seventeen to fourteen BYU
five and oh so far late game at Utah has
the utahead of number twenty one Arizona State fourteen to three.
Among the game's final yes, Indiana one at Oregon in

(29:24):
their Top twenty, Top ten matchup thirty to twenty and
at a top twenty matchup. Alabama wins at Missouri today
twenty seven to twenty four. Texas trailed number six Oklahoma
six to nothing late first half and beat the Sooners
twenty three to six. Victories for Texas A and M
and Old miss for number one Ohio State and Texas
Tech number ten. Georgia wins at Auburn twenty to ten.

(29:47):
LSU ranked eleventh, has secured a victory over South Carolina
twenty to ten. Victories for Tennessee and Georgia Tech. USC
at home beat number fifteen Michigan thirty one thirteen tonight
wins for Notre Dame for Colorado, which beat up Iowa
State twenty four to seventeen, and pitt won at number
twenty five Florida State thirty four to thirty one, the
seminoles oh and three in the acc back to you.

Speaker 2 (30:09):

Oh boy, Penn State loses? What does it mean for
James Franklin, Texas arch manning look kind of good today?
We'll discuss all that next Fox Sports.

Speaker 1 (30:51):
Ready, you're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (30:59):
Welcome Heck everybody, Fox Sports Radio Air towards Jason barn
broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio Studios. A lot
still to react to in college football just went final
in Auburn Alabama Georgia twenty Auburn ten. Questionable call late
in the first half takes seven points off the board
for Auburn. The Tigers were never the same. Georgia wins

(31:20):
that game. The late game, well, two late games in
the Big Twelve. Arizona up seventeen fourteen on Number eighteen
byu Utah up fourteen to three on the Arizona State
Sun Devils. Arizona State ranked twenty first in the country.
J Mart team that wasn't ranked coming into this week,
and they certainly won't be after this week.

Speaker 3 (31:41):
Oh no, let's do it.

Speaker 2 (31:43):
Penn State third straight loss. They lose at home to
Northwestern Now Drew Aller, as Desagred has told us minutes ago,
did suffer a season ending injury. You know, we can
make fun of Penn State and also feel bad for
him as his college career had officially come to an end,
But he played most of that game and doesn't really

(32:05):
end up mattering in the end. Penn State the twenty
two to twenty one loss. Now three straight losses for
Penn State. And I think the thing I'll say really quick.
I think we shared this stat last week, but James
Franklin had one loss to an unranked team. Like for
all the criticism about beating good teams, which he has
not done, I believe the stat was one loss to

(32:28):
a team that finished below five hundred. Since his first season,
so we're talking about ten seasons as a head coach.
He now has two losses to unranked opponents in two weeks.
Northwestern was three and two coming into this week. UCLA
was zero to four coming into last week. What does

(32:51):
Penn State do? J Mark this, And I'll just be
real quick. This was the year it was built for.

Speaker 3 (32:55):
This year.

Speaker 2 (32:56):
You brought back everybody. You added guys in the portal
and in a you.

Speaker 3 (33:01):
Brought back everybody outside of like Abdulla Carter of course.

Speaker 2 (33:04):
Yeah yeah, fair, But I mean relative to what Ohio
State had come back, Yeah you did.

Speaker 3 (33:08):
You did lose one pretty big piece. But at the
same time your point still stands.

Speaker 2 (33:14):
Yeah, what do you make? What is? What is?

Speaker 3 (33:16):
What do? Uh?

Speaker 2 (33:17):
What does Penn State do from here? Jam Martin? Can
they do anything from here? Maybe he's the better way to.

Speaker 3 (33:22):
No, I mean, yeah, they can go on to play
an the Alamobile maybe. I mean I don't know that
there I feel bad for Drew Aler. He's not gonna
have to finish this season, but you know, his eligibility
unless they change the rules is over. And he doesn't

(33:43):
look like an NFL already quarterback at all. He's becoming
off an injury and the last time that anybody saw
him play, the last handful of games that he played
that that reflection is not going to be very good.
But for James Franklin, I mean it's over. The question
is is over tomorrow? Is it over at the end

(34:05):
of the season. I think that if they wait until January,
there's a bit of a break on the buyout right
after the season ends, right after the regular season ends,
or even after the college football playoff and have to
double check for sure. But either way, this season's a
complete loss. There's not really any other way to say

(34:26):
say it than that not only is a loss, it's
just a disaster and Penn State fans and alumni are
deservedly upset. James Franklin is going to have to go.
There's I mean, the buyout is enormous, but they're going
to have to pay it. I mean, I saw that
there were tickets game day in State College for this

(34:50):
game in Happy Valley for nine dollars on stub Hub
the morning of the game. I understand that the price
is dropped the morning of the game, but there's no
interest in team, like all of the hope, all of
the entry, like everything's gone. Indiana is a team that
was supposed to drop off, not Penn State, and it
hasn't gone that way. And you look at you look

(35:11):
at the future, and you can't allow this to continue.
This is what James Franklin has done, and I just
I wonder when it's gonna happen. I don't know what
you get out of letting him go right now. I mean, obviously, yeah,
you can have a little bit of a boost from
an interim coach, but the season is a loss, Like
who wants to step in and try to finish this season?

(35:33):
You're not gonna get that job, Like there I do
not see the universe where there's a Sharon More that's
gonna get that job for example, Like this is gonna
be a job that they're gonna try to find a
big time guy to go filled. They're gonna go and
take some big swings and see what they can land.
I would think. So, I mean, do you just go
ahead and let him coach out the rest of this season.

(35:54):
It's a lame duck scenario. Anyway, he knows what his
buyout is, so he can smile based on that. He's
not going to walk voluntarily right now. I wouldn't think
so it's a mess. Like I don't know what the
fix is. It doesn't seem like you gain anything by
letting him go now, by firing him right now except

(36:14):
a standing ovation from Penn State fans that that I
think is probably I mean, what would you do well?

Speaker 2 (36:23):
First of all, it's horrible. It's horrible. First of all.
The thing that I will say, I don't know this
for sure, and it's easy to say this now. I
think the days of the crazy one hundred percent ode buyout.
I think they're coming to an end. And I understand
that the agents have leverage when the coach is doing well,
But there are so many teams right now. I know,

(36:43):
Clemson won a second straight game to improve to three
and three, uh Dabosweeney has that huge buyout, and you know,
we'll see where they are by the end of the year.
But I think that fan base is kind of I
think both sides could maybe be you know, both sides
could maybe use a fresh start at in You know,
Mark Stoops, that's an underrated one. Kentucky has Uh. I

(37:04):
think they're two and fifteen in their last seventeen SEC
games and that's run its course, and he's owed fifty
sixty million dollars guaranteed money. You know, Lincoln Riley and
Brian Kelly are both coaching really well right now. But
I just think that Era has to be done. I
don't know, and what I will say, it's gonna sound terrible.

(37:26):
I think the Alur injury kind of shields him a
little bit, right, like yes, yes, yeah, Like all expectations
are off, and now the conversation becomes a little bit
about Aler. Now one Aler played the whole game Saturday two.

Speaker 6 (37:43):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (37:44):
If you thought he was even good at all, he
regressed this year. So it's like there's no doubt this
is a colossal failure. I think it's interesting, and I
think what's kind of interesting to me is like I
mean again, it's almost like it's the weird thing of
because Aler's heard, it just changes everything. Like if they

(38:06):
go five and seven, they're three and three right now.
If they go five and seven, you could just use
the excuse of like, well, we were bad, but we
weren't that bad if drew out. So I don't know
what they do. I don't know what. I don't know
what the win loss record would have to be. But
even if they have a terrible win loss record, you
could say, well we you know, we lost our starting quarterback,
thirty year players, So I don't know, I don't know.

(38:29):
I don't know. Forty eight million is a lot of money.
That's what he would be owed after this season. Hey,
By the way, there's all this private equity talk and
I don't really understand what that's about and how that works.
Maybe that's what it goes to. I don't know it does.

Speaker 3 (38:42):
The private equity money is going to go to buy
him out.

Speaker 2 (38:45):
Yeah, I was gonna say it feels like it has
absolutely run its course and every loss that he has.
By the way, because we talked about this a little
bit after the UCLA game last week, of like, is
there a landing spot for him where somebody would say,
you know what, it didn't work at Penn State, but
we could do a lot worse. I mean, if you
go five and seven, if you go six and six,
nobody's gonna be excited to hire you away from Penn State.

(39:07):
It's just a wh Yeah.

Speaker 3 (39:08):
I think North Carolina would be oh, there you go,
Now there you go. I'm serious. I think I think
North Carolina would love to have a guy like James Franklin. Right,
they might like to have a bad lint Steve Franklin.
I don't even know who Steve Franklin is, but he's
probably better than Bill Belichick.

Speaker 2 (39:25):
I was gonna say, Steve Franklin or Steve Belichick, Steve
Franklin or Steve Belichick.

Speaker 3 (39:29):
Who you taking Steve Franklin.

Speaker 2 (39:31):
There you go. I don't even know Steve Franklin, an
accountant from US Scranton. You'll take him over US.

Speaker 3 (39:36):
I have no idea. And if you're out there and
your name is Steve Franklin, this is not This is
one of those deals where you have a disclaimer in
the movie that says all all possible things are coincidental.
This is a fictional coincidence here that we're saying. But yeah,
I when it, I mean, he's gonna find he's It's
not like he's a terrible football coach that should never
coach again. He's just worn out that welcome and he's

(39:58):
not right. He's not the guy for that job to
take that team any higher than he has. Look, he's
done some good things there. We I mean, you have
to admit that, but now you kind of get to
that spot where Okay, thanks for what you've done. Now
we need to move on so that we can take
the next step. There's the guy that gets you to
the guy and he's kind of the setup man at best.

(40:20):
He's not your starter and he's not your closer.

Speaker 2 (40:24):
Fox Sports Radio er towards Jason Martin, broadcasting live from
the Fox Sports Radio Studios. Two hours left. We're taking
it up till two am Eastern. When we come back.
We got to talk about speaking of bad times in Pennsylvania,
Philadelphia Eagles only one more dysfunctional in penn State. That's next.
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (40:42):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (40:46):
Welcome in everybody. Hour two towards Martin, Fox Sports Radio.
We are broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio Studios,
taking it up till two am Eastern time. Bernie fret
of The Bernie Frido Show will follow us. We got
a lot to get to. Still two ranked teams at

(41:06):
college football playing as de Sega just told you, Arizona
twenty four BYU eighteenth ranked team in the country fourteen.
Arizona has the lead there. Conversely, at halftime in Salt
Lake City, unranked Utah up twenty one to three on
the Arizona State Sun Devils. J Mart real quick before
we get to some NFL stuff, putting a bow on

(41:26):
college football. This one, I'll be honest. The result surprised me.
It was the RhD River shootout. Texas twenty three Oklahoma six.
Now I want to be fair on both sides. I
wouldn't call arch Manning, you know, Jaden Daniels from two

(41:52):
years ago, where Joe Burrow from twenty nineteen, but he
played well twenty one of twenty seven one hundred and
sixty six yards again, or I'm not ready to hand
him a heisman yet, or you know, slot them back
in the top of mock drafts at number one overall,
but he plays well. And Texas, which you know, we
kind of talked earlier about Georgia. If they had lost today,
are they essentially out of the playoff picture by mid October?

(42:16):
Texas certainly would have been at three and three. They
beat rival Oklahoma twenty three to six. By the way,
worth mentioning John Matteer, Oklahoma starting quarterback comes back twenty
of thirty eight passing, no touchdowns, three interceptions.

Speaker 3 (42:30):
Yeah, he shouldn't have come back. I think we saw
that fairly early. He threw the ball okay, but when
he had to move, when he had to run, the
knee wasn't responding particularly well. It just is just didn't
look right overall. And Texas definitely was ready and defensively,
I think they wanted to make a bit of a

(42:51):
statement in the game, and they certainly did. But I
would like to know. I don't have it in front
of me. I'm sure it's out there somewhere, the average
air yards and how many seconds the pauls in the
air for arts when he threw a lot of these passes,
because a whole lot of this was checkdowns, I mean
that's what he did. I would say eighty five percent

(43:11):
of the game was checkdowns and screenplays and things like that.
But to his credit, the few times where he had
to make something happen, he was able to find a guy.
Credit to his receivers for finding some spots as well.
But more than anything, like he was able to move,

(43:32):
he was able to climb the pocket and make the
throws that he needed to make in the game. He
didn't make the crucial mistakes. He wasn't overthrowing guys all game,
and he seemed a lot more poised. He took what
the defense gave him. I know, that's an old cliche
that isn't in my opinion, it's not used enough anymore
because it's accurate in a lot of these cases. Arch

(43:53):
wasn't going to go out there and throw for five
hundred yards in this game. That defense was not going
to allow for it. What he did was he managed
the game, but he wasn't really a game manager. He
just he ran the offense very capably and let Texas's
defense just harass John Mattier and the Oklahoma offense all

(44:15):
game long. And to their credit, they did it. But
you really can't say anything other than Arch played well.
Arch didn't play fantastically, but he did what was necessary
for his team to win. I don't know how much
credit he's going to get for that, because you know,
we were kind of texting before the game about how
this is going to be talked about, and I said

(44:36):
I was so interested to see this, because I feel
like a lot of the nation is ready and holding
dirt to pour on the grave of Arch Manning's career,
like they're just waiting for it. So you didn't feel
like he was going to get any benefit of the doubt,
despite how great Oklahoma's defense has been and just a
talent all across that side of the ball for Brent Vinables,

(44:59):
but Arts just kind of he sort of looked the
part of a guy that was not overwhelmed, and there
is something to be said for that. Considering the way
this season has gone so far and sort of how
the narrative has turned, it would be very easy for
him to have gone full deer in headlights in a
moment like this, and it felt like to me he

(45:21):
was more up for that challenge. I think there's hope
for Texas fans. There's still a lot of growth. Obviously
that's that's left. But he played better I think that
most people would have anticipated based on what we've seen
from him so far, one hundred percent.

Speaker 2 (45:35):
I don't really have anything to add there real quick,
because I want to talk aj Brown. I want to
talk what we saw Thursday night and some of the
conversations that came out of Friday. Anything else from college
football that we haven't hit on that really stands out to.

Speaker 3 (45:47):
You needs nothing huge. Ohio State had a nice win.

Speaker 2 (45:52):
Matt Patricia by the way, Like I know Ohio State
has good players. At some point we have to acknowledge,
like Matt Patricia might actually be like a legitimately really
good defensive coordinator, even if he's a train wreck as
a head coach.

Speaker 3 (46:03):
Yeah, well, and some people are that, right, yep, some
people they find that you find out, no, they're not
meant for the head job, but as a coordinator, you know,
there's a reason why they got an opportunity to be
a head coach in the first place. The Peter principle
takes place at some point and sometimes you have to
take that step back and move back into your role.

(46:23):
But at the same time, like, yeah, the defense has
been great for them all year long. But Ohio State
beating the Illinois team on the road that I don't
know how good Illinois is, but they're certainly formidable enough.
And Ohio State's just continuing to just kind of skate
right on through and do their thing. Miami was idle.
So there's not much to say. They're the only thing
we haven't talked about is Alabama and Missouri. I did

(46:48):
not realize that Missouri had played their entire season.

Speaker 2 (46:51):
At unbelievable you know, I'll say this really quick. There's
some weird scheduling quirks in the SEC this year. I
don't know why. Let's see here, Missouri six straight road games.
You want a crazy stat We're just talking about Texas now.
Part of it is because the red River game is
in Dallas. They won't play a home SEC game until

(47:15):
November one of this year. Texas.

Speaker 3 (47:18):
So crazy.

Speaker 2 (47:19):
Yeah, so three road games plus the red River game.
So it's like there's just some weird scheduling course, But yeah,
Missouri six straight home games to start the regular season.

Speaker 3 (47:28):
And really, I mean they had a shot there at
the end of the game and Forbulah flat out overshot
his guy. He had his guy open and instead he
found the Alabama dB and that end of the game.
But more to the point, Missouri's got a really good defense.
But ty Simpson is just bawling out like Ty Simpson
is playing really good football, and Alabama has found itself

(47:52):
in a lot of ways, even with jam out of
the game, and the offense did stall a bit after
he left. Ty just made a couple like he's that
guy what I said Jackson Arnold was not earlier in
the show. Ty Simpson is like Ty Simpson is a
guy that when you need him to go make a play,
he's going to be there for you, especially in clutch moments.
He's done it multiple times this season. And I feel

(48:15):
like that third and twenty four, from third and twenty
four to fourth and eight, and he threw the perfect ball,
my god, absolutely perfect pass on the left sideline caught
to extend that drive and then they go put more
points on the board. That right there, There's a lot
of football left to be played. It's only October eleventh.

(48:38):
I get it that right there is a Heisman moment, folks.
It is especially in a season where a lot of
the guys that were supposed to be Heisman contenders are
already out of the mix. Like, we're not even paying
attention to a lot of these guys. Right now, ty
Simpson's got to be the leader in the clubhouse. And
that throw right there and just that two play sequence
for Alabama may have won them that game. But more

(49:00):
than anything else, it may have been that moment that
turned heads enough to where not only is he a
finalist in New York, but he's actually holding that trophy.

Speaker 1 (49:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (49:08):
All I really add is listen, I think you know,
top three in whatever order you want, Ohio State, Miami.
I think Indiana should be there as and by the way,
A and M improved to six and oh got to
give them credit. Ole Miss wasn't pretty. They improved to six,
and oh as Georgia as they get said to face
Georgia next week. I think Alabama has to be among

(49:28):
the top or I don't think among. I think they are,
in my opinion, the best one loss team. I get
that it was ugly against Florida State. Florida State is
another conversation. Unto themselves, they haven't.

Speaker 3 (49:39):
Won a conference game.

Speaker 2 (49:40):
It's unbelievab.

Speaker 3 (49:41):
I think they're owen. Are they owen eight in their
last eight conference games or something like something crazy like that.

Speaker 2 (49:47):
They went to and ten last year. Like I knew
it was bad, but after you know, you kind of
start one in four, one and five, whatever, you kind
of just stopped paying attention. I thought I thought they were
like four and eight, five and seven, they were two
and ten last year. It's bad they lost a third
straight ACC game to open league play really quickly. Since
you know we didn't, we got plenty of time to

(50:08):
get NFL one team. I will give credit to really quick.
Now it could very easily turn next week because they
have a big game next week as well. I think
we got to spend half a second. Give credit to
Lincoln Riley and USC five and one beat Michigan thirty
one to thirteen in that game. Now they do go
to Notre Dame next week, so you know, it could
quickly turn the other direction. But USC five and one,

(50:31):
and I'll say this, j Mart, you know we've had
this conversation for probably four or five years now. Is
also we've been on air. I wasn't somebody that was
necessarily in favor of the expansion of the playoff. I
just feel like by the end of the year you
get to usually about two three teams that are good
enough to win it. But like USC Michigan tonight and
USC Notre Dame next week, perfect example of game. More

(50:52):
games do matter. Later in the year, USC enters the
back half of the season in the playoff picture at
five and one again got to keep winning play Notre
Dame next week. But I got to give them a
little bit of credit as well.

Speaker 3 (51:05):
Oh yeah, for sure. There were definitely some impressive things
that took place on Saturday and and the Notre Dame
Notre Dame, that game was close for a little while
and then it was not close at all after that point.
So yeah, they're they're just doing what they have to do.
There's a couple teams where it's just it just felt
like just felt like a rep It's just like you
got to get through this one. I think Old miss

(51:25):
that's an example for them as well, like, yeah, that
was not pretty at all, but sometimes you got to
win those games. And I still think they're a really
good football team. I am continually impressed by A and M.

Speaker 2 (51:37):
Dude, dude, I have.

Speaker 3 (51:39):
Continually impressed by them. I really really am. Actually, I
had a friend who texted me after the Penn State
loss and said, man, Penn State's got a Jimbo Fisher problem. Oh,
James Franklin and I meet. We thought, you know who
doesn't have a Jimbo Fisher problem.

Speaker 2 (51:55):
Unbelievable, right, Texas.

Speaker 3 (51:56):
A and M and Mike Oko like those guys go
and close the d like they really do. Like Marcel Reid,
he's just like it's a given he's gonna drop two
touchdowns per game, and he had two plus a rushing
I think in this game. And that's a pretty good
team that that's a good defense out of Florida. And
they ended up just kind of taking that game by

(52:17):
the throat in the fourth quarter and finishing it off.
They're They're impressive, man, they really are. I don't know
what the full on ceiling is, but they just keep
winning games in a fashion where it's just they just
don't make a whole lot of mistakes. Dude like that.
That and they are all playing together for Elko, he

(52:38):
again just seems to be the exact opposite of the
culture of the coach that was before him.

Speaker 2 (52:42):
No, I actually had that exact same thought. They're just
business like. They just they just get in there, do
what they gotta do. It's not always like the flashiest,
but it's just there's just no drama Like Texas A
and m under Jimbo, you were just waiting for something
weird to happen, waiting for the other to drop, waiting
for the worst case scenario. And Elko is kind of

(53:03):
the opposite. There's just nothing flashy about them, but they
take care of business. By the way, we're talking about
weird scheduling quirks, this is the perfect example. Texas A
and M three straight sec home games to open league play.
Now they have three straight road games from here. It's like,
I don't ever remember weird stuff quite like that happening.

Speaker 3 (53:20):
Not a lopsided stuff, that's what I mean, Just like
these long stretches where I just that Missouri thing is
just baffling to me, Like they've just been at home
their entire season, and now they're just about to pack
up and basically like go on vacation for the rest
of the season. Like they're just not gonna be at home.
That's gonna be tough for them too, Like that loss

(53:40):
today and their schedule going forward, Like I want to
see what we're actually looking at with Missouri by the
end of this year, because they definitely have I'm not
saying that their opposition has been nothing, but they've had
it padded for them in that they've had it in
their own building, which, by the way, because they're doing
that construction weird. That is the ug thing to watch,

(54:01):
Like I was watching offense, I would want whatever offense
I was running, I would want to be going the
opposite direction of that, because it just feels like, I
don't know, it just feels like you're playing at an
at an untapped reservoir or something like that with like
a damn in it. It just seems like an industrial
park that we're also playing football in. That's not a

(54:22):
that's not a great environment. I would think they're actually
everywhere they go on the road is going to be
better than their home stadium.

Speaker 2 (54:29):
Yeah, I'll just be very very quick on that. I
don't I'm not listen, surprise, surprise. I'm not an engineer.
I've never worked on a construction site. If you've met me,
that is the least surprising news you've ever heard in
your life. I am not, you know, barely know how
to use a screwdriver. But the idea that like we
have these you know, one hundred million dollar projects that

(54:50):
are going on during football season. You know, this ain't like,
with due respect, it ain't Bowling Green. Like if Bowling
Green needed, you know, eighteen months to finish a stadium project,
it'd be one thing. We're talking about SEC football teams
here yeah, the Missouri thing is weird, by the way.
One last thing, since we're obviously just gonna keep talking
college football here for half a second, we mentioned A
and M. They of course beat Notre Dame, and I

(55:13):
think you and I both had the same thought on air.
Notre Dame loses to A and M to fall to
oh and two, you sit there and say, Okay, you know,
Notre Dame basically has to win out and even then
will the resume be enough? Well, oh and two the
loss at Miami by three, A and M at home
by one. Those two teams that they lost to where

(55:33):
A combined eleven and oh, Notre Dame four and oh.
Since then double figure wins in all four games. But again,
this game against USC all of a sudden, Like I said,
it's a sort of a playoff game. Now we'll see
USC has the much tougher back half of the schedule.
They still have Oregon at Nebraska, et cetera. But you know,
Notre Dame, like I think we all just were kind

(55:53):
of like, it's kind of an uphill battle. Those two
losses keep getting better and better, and you know, well,
a long way till we get to a twelve team bracket.
But if Notre Dame finishes ten and two and those
two teams keep playing the way that they do, I
think Notre Dame is gonna have a pretty strong case
to be in that college football playoffs.

Speaker 3 (56:12):
Yeah, I would agree with you. I mean, I don't
think there's any reason. They're a pretty good football team. Actually,
they're a good football team. I don't think they're the
team that they were last year. But I think that
the way their season started isn't reflective of where it's
gonna end. And it's not just because of the Notre
Dame bias of it all. I just think a lot

(56:32):
of these other teams are kind of weeding themselves out,
and Notre Dame is just kind of holding, holding, holding,
serve more thannything else. But they just kind of look
the part again to me, of just a team that
is handling business kind of quietly in the background.

Speaker 2 (56:47):
They play USC at home next Saturday, one of many
big games. Next Saturday, we have Old Miss facing We

upon us, including a very interesting result from MetLife Stadium
on Thursday night. We'll get to all that in a minute.
Before we do, though, let's get it over the news
desk to Sega. What's trending here. At twelve twenty six
Easter Time, the.

Speaker 7 (58:25):
Youths have scored again at Utah, the home team up
twenty eight three over number twenty one ranked Arizona State
early in the third quarter, just over a minute left
in the game. At Arizona, that one's still going because
there was a lightning delay after period one in two
so of over an hour. Arizona holding on against undefeated
BYU twenty four to seventeen. But the eighteenth rank Cougars

(58:46):
do have the ball and they've driven down to about
the twenty five of Arizona, down a touchdown going to
the fourth quarter. At Boise State, Broncos lead twenty to
seventeen against New Mexico and Boise is driving. San Diego
State led thirty five nothing at the half, still have
that score up big at Nevada early third quarter and
the late games underway. Hawaii with a three to nothing

(59:08):
early lead against Utah State, Number one Ohio State won
at Illinois today thirty four to sixteen. Indiana won its
top ten matchup at Oregon thirty to twenty. That game
was tied with under seven minutes left. Ole miss in
Texas A and m with wins Texas as well. The
Longhorns trailed number six Oklahoma six nothing late in the
first half and beat the Sooners twenty three to six.

(59:30):
Alabama ranked eighth this week one at number fourteen Missouri
twenty seven to twenty four. Victories for Texas Tech and
for number ten Georgia, which was down ten nothing at
Auburn late first half tonight but beat Auburn twenty to ten.
Wins for LSU and Tennessee. Wins for Georgia Tech and
Notre Dame. At usc tonight, the Trojans defeated number fifteen
Michigan thirty one thirteen. Colorado upset number twenty two Iowa

(59:54):
State twenty four to seventeen. Pitt won at number twenty
five Florida State thirty four thirty one. Washington Commander's wide
receiver Deebo Samuel missed another practice with a bruised heel.
Washington wide receivers Terry McLaurin and Noah Brown are each
out again. Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray likely out Sunday with
a spring foot. According to NFL Network, the AL Championship

(01:00:16):
Series starts Sunday night on Fox TV Seattle at Toronto,
with Game two in Toronto on Monday. Then Game three
will be Wednesday in Seattle. We now have the schedule
for the NLCS. It will start Monday night at top
seeded Milwaukee with the Brewers hosting the Dodgers. And by
the way, Milwaukee went six to zero against LA in July.
Milwaukee eliminated the Cubs tonight three to one, hitting three

(01:00:39):
homers in Game five of the best of five NL
Division series. The Dodgers had advanced Thursday with an eleven
inning win against Philadelphia. Dodgers have won twenty of their
last twenty six games, but for over a month now,
the relievers have been a major problem. They've had to
use starters in out of the bullpen. Dodgers for the
regular season as a whole, we'd number one in the

(01:01:01):
National League in run scored, Milwaukee was number two.

Speaker 2 (01:01:04):
Back to you, Thank you very much, Steve di Seger.
This is Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Saturday into Sunday
Aeron Tours. Jason Martin broadcasting live from the Fox Sports
Radio Studios, SEGA just told you that BYU is trailing
twenty four to seventeen at Arizona, completed pass maybe in
the end zone to tie it. They are reviewing it

(01:01:25):
right now. BYU does have the ball in the red
zone against Arizona. I don't think they're going to overturn
this call. It was called a non catch on the field.
Will keep you updated there. Arizona State twenty first of
the two country, trailing twenty eight to three at Utah.
Speaking of Arizona State, their star last year, Camp Scataboo
certainly had a night on Thursday. Ninety eight yards, three

(01:01:50):
rushing touchdowns. The New York Football Giants get to win
over the Eagles. Jmart I want to get to the Eagles.
How much credit do you want to give right now
to the New York Football Giants who have won two
of three since Jackson Dart has become the starting quarterback
and really just kind of took care of business in
this game start to finish, pulled away late, outscoring the

(01:02:13):
Eagles fourteen to nothing in the second half. Giants their
second win in three games with Jackson Dart as the
starting quarterback.

Speaker 3 (01:02:21):
Yeah, I mean they couldn't beat the Saints.

Speaker 2 (01:02:24):
Five turnovers in a row. Kind of do that to
a team.

Speaker 3 (01:02:26):
It's rough, But I mean you got to give him
plenty of credit. You got to get Dark credit. You
got to give Skataboo credit. Let's not forget that Malik
Neighbors is out for the season, so you're throwing the
wan Dale Robinson as your top wide receiving target and
he has answered every challenge that you have asked so far.

(01:02:49):
You got dable coaching for his job and for better
or worse for Dart because he's He's definitely putting Dart
in some tough situations. But so far.

Speaker 8 (01:03:00):
Sayings about the Philadelphia situation, no question about it, and
that probably becomes more of the story just because of
what their ceiling was supposed to be this season and
may still be.

Speaker 3 (01:03:15):
But this is the first time that Giants fans have
legitimate hope, at least in the short term, because I
don't even think that Daniel Jones season felt this way.
I don't think it had this same kind of electricity
to it the Giants have. I can't believe I'm saying
this become like must see television. That's kind of staggering

(01:03:39):
like that, there's no reason why anybody would have seen
that coming into this season. But as we've found, some
other teams kind of fall off and some that are
just almost unwatchably boring, the Giants are a real exciting
football team to watch, and like when you see them
on the schedule, it used to be oh man, not again,
and now it's the exact opposite. It's kind of similar

(01:04:00):
to what you're seeing in New England. I agree, at
least to a degree. There's still plenty there that they
need to work on offensively, but just in terms of
just kind of the flash and kind of the bizaz
of it all, the Giants are a lot of fun
right now.

Speaker 2 (01:04:15):
Well, you know who's not fun? Philadelphia ego. I mean,
it's fun to follow, but the results have not been fun.

Speaker 3 (01:04:22):
No, it's not fun to follow, not when they do
four toast bushes in a row. I sent you that
text message and said I stopped watching a game at
that point in time and had to come back a
little bit later on. I had to walk away from
the television like it was just like, we can't this
cannot abide. Like I can do almost anything else and

(01:04:44):
find it more entertaining than this. Like it was absolutely brutal,
but their offense as a whole has been pretty brutal.

Speaker 2 (01:04:50):
It has, and that's where I want to go with this.
Two straight losses. You lose the Broncos last week. Okay,
short week at the Giants, but I think obviously the
bigger story is coming out of that Broncos loss. We
heard all about this. You can't really call it a
player's only meeting, but a meeting of the minds between
Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, and AJ Brown.

Speaker 8 (01:05:12):
Well.

Speaker 2 (01:05:12):
AJ Brown was asked about it after the game on
Thursday said multiple times, quote, I don't recall a meeting.
I don't know what you're talking about. He followed it
up on Twitter on Friday by saying, quote this is
his from his personal Twitter page. Just to clear it up,
this that wasn't a meeting or a sit down. I said,
I don't recall because it was painted like there was

(01:05:35):
tension and Saquon had to step in. That's not true.
I was walking to my car, saw them and stop
to talk. Nothing more. Bring it up. Whatever the case
is Eagles, seems like there's a lot of tension on
the offensive side of the ball. I have some thoughts.
J mar Bow tossed it over to.

Speaker 3 (01:05:52):
You first, so I will say that. Diana Versini reported
that multiple sources inside the Eagles AJ Brown was right
that there was not a sit down meeting, that it
was indeed just a conversation that happened amidst other things
like probably out by the car, exactly like he said,
and all that. Now, I can understand that, and I
can envision that, and all that bigger thing is who cares?

(01:06:16):
Like the bigger issue there is, like we're explaining. AJ
Brown felt the need to go in and explain. Nope,
we didn't have a meeting. We didn't have any of
these things that you suggested. I need to clarify and
tell you what was going on. It's no, you really
don't just go play football, man, like, don't worry about
all of this. Like this is not a good look.
It's not good because I've said this to you multiple times.

(01:06:40):
But I covered the guy's entire career in Tennessee, and
when things started to go south, he was the last
person that you wanted around in terms of just the
organization as a whole. He was a dream to cover
at that point in time, just for the content and

(01:07:04):
the debate and the discussion and all the things that
were surrounding it. But he's a guy that's very much
in his emotions. He does and says some kind of
very cryptic, weird things on Twitter. I compared him a
little bit's Kevin Durant, just in terms of not being
able to get out of his own way from an
emotional standpoint. One of the stories that I recall vividly

(01:07:25):
about AJ Brown was from Mike Vrabel in a press
conference where Verbel actually took it to a place where
he said, hey, you know, we need to take people seriously.
He said, you know, he ran into Aj Brown like
in the facility an afternoon or two before that. He said, hey, Aj,
how you doing, brother? And AJ's like, you know what,

(01:07:45):
coach not very well? And Mike Rabel basically said, you know,
when you asked that question, you need to actually mean
it so that if the answer is legit, you can
actually stand there and listen to the person, like, don't
just ask and say, hey, man, how you doing without
actually caring about the answer to that question, and it
was a very good moment for Mike Vrabel and he

(01:08:08):
was able to sit there and listen to his wide
receiver about some things happening, maybe in his personal life
or maybe in his professional life. Didn't go into detail,
it didn't matter, but it was just another example of
AJ Brown's a very emotional football player, and he's a
guy that he can become very discontented. And I think
the bigger thing that you notice a little bit is

(01:08:29):
is he interested. Like if he disengages and starts to
look disinterested, then you might have a problem. I don't
know that I'm ready to say that. I mean, he
played pretty well, he made some big time plays, and
he's still just an all world talent, just absolutely incredible.
But he's a guy that when things are not going well,

(01:08:49):
he's not going to be the rallying cry that you need.
So you've got that, and you've got what is still
supposed to be a good relationship with jaywhen Hurtz and
I mean they were incredibly close for a time there.
Maybe that's soured just a little bit, but I mean,
what has changed from this season other than the offensive
line's been absolutely just crippled with injuries and that hasn't

(01:09:11):
helped anything. The offense is dull, boring, uninspired, uninteresting, and
they have a new coordinator.

Speaker 2 (01:09:19):
Well that's what I was going to say, is that
when I said, I have some thoughts on the situation,
but I'll give you the floor first. Listen, we talked
about the Peter principle with Matt Patricia that maybe he's
not a great offense a great head coach, but he
seems to be a heck of a defensive coordinator, you know,
throughout his career. But this year at Ohio State. I

(01:09:42):
bring it up because listen, this Kevin Petulo guy. I
get it, tough shoes to fill, whatever, but this is
his first That is the Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator, by
the way, first time calling plays. He's been with the
organization since twenty twenty one. I know he was the
past game coordinator, working hand in hand with Kirby kirb

(01:10:05):
Kirby Moore. Is it Kellen Moore? Kellen Moore? I was like,
why am I blanking on this name? Working with Kellen Moore?
Kellen Moore? Of course, is now the Philadelphia Eagles or
the I'm all over the place, the new Orleans Saints
head coach. He is gone.

Speaker 3 (01:10:17):
When you start talking about the Saints like your mind
kind of well favers.

Speaker 2 (01:10:21):
I mean, yeah, anyway, Kellen Moore, not Kirby Moore, by
the way, is a real person. He's the Missouri head OC.
That was why for some reason I tripped up. Plus
Kirby Smart's doing all kinds of crazy stuff. To anyway,
Kellen Moore was the OC. The offense hummed last year.
That to me is the thing is I get that

(01:10:43):
Jalen Hurts isn't your traditional quarterback. I get that there
is a balancing act with aj Brown. By the way,
update Intucson Arizona eighteenth rank BYU has scored and kicked
the pat at is tied at twenty four with twenty
four seconds left, potentially heading into overtime.

Speaker 7 (01:11:03):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:11:03):
I get that. I get there. There's a lot of variables,
and there's a lot of mouths to feed, and you
have this great all time running back coming off of
that kind of season. You also have a quarterback that
isn't the true There's something wrong and there's something that
feels weird and whatever however it is, I don't know,
you know, it's it's almost like what the Supreme Court say.

(01:11:26):
I'm going there, Jabar, what are the Supreme courts? Yes,
you know it when you see it. And I don't
know what made Kellen Moore good, and I don't know
what makes a lot of OC's good, but I know
when it's not good, and there is something not right
with the play calling. By the way, they went through
this two years ago when Shane Steiken left to become

(01:11:48):
the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts, brought and Brian
Johnson didn't work, fired and brought in Kirby Kellen Moore.
So I just bring it up. There's I don't know
this Kevin Batoola guy. I know he isn't the answer,
and it's weird and it's getting weirder by the week,
not better. That was a long winded way to get
to my point that I as bad as it is
with aj Brown, I think there's something up with this OC.

(01:12:11):
He might just be an overset.

Speaker 3 (01:12:13):
He may well be. I think that what makes a
good offensive coordinator is being able to work with the
with the personnel that you have. And you mentioned what
you said about Jayleen Hurts there, and I think it's valuable.
But I also think like, if he's the guy that
you picked to be eu OC, then he needs to
know how to maximize Jalen Hurts. He needs to know

(01:12:36):
how to utilize AJ Brown, utilize Devonte Smith. He seems
to be utilized in Dallas. Guard got her pretty well
since he came back from the injury. But I think
that maybe the biggest thing about the AJ Brown situation
is I don't know that he's wrong if he's actually
upset that he's not being used enough, because he is

(01:12:56):
a weapon that they need to be utilizing more. And
I don't think it's because AJ Brown isn't able to
get open that he's not getting the football, like this
scheme and this offense, the way that this offense is
being run is And here's the other thing. We haven't
even talked about Saquon Barkley.

Speaker 2 (01:13:12):
So I was just gonna say, now's Barkley.

Speaker 3 (01:13:15):
Was an absolute just he was. He was untouchable last year.
And that's what I mean pretty much all points. And
now it's not that it's the exact day, he's an afterthow.
He had like fifty three yards on Thursday night.

Speaker 2 (01:13:27):
Well, that's what I was trying to get to stumbling
over my words, in my names and my titles and
my roles and everything. Is that like, if Saquon is
going for a bucks seventy a night, then you can
forgive the AJ Brown thing. Or if AJ Brown is
just a dominant receiver taking over games and Saquon isn't
putting up the stats from last year, that's fine, but

(01:13:49):
it just feels like they this guy doesn't know how
to use all the pieces. By the way, Philadelphia twenty
ninth in total offense right now, only ahead of the Steelers, Titans,
and Bengals. So that's my point, is like, if Saquan
was ripping off one hundred and eighty yards a game,
none of this matters. But he's not. And it's one
of those where by trying to make one guy happy,

(01:14:10):
you're actually making nobody happy. And that's the big takeaway
that I have on this situation. Jamart, we got about
a minute left. Any less things to add on the
Philadelphia Eagle situation, no.

Speaker 3 (01:14:20):
Other than just I didn't think we were going to
be at this point in the season, and we were
going to say, you know what, Brian shot and Huimer's
down all right, and Dak Prescott's playing really good football.
Shott was pretty good. Yeah yeah, yeah, got yeah. And
and and the Giants. Man, they're actually a pretty entertaining
watch right now. They're they're exciting. They they got a
lot of hope there. And of course Washington is Washington.

(01:14:42):
The team that maybe you have the most questions about
right now is the Philadelphia Eagles. I don't think anybody
had that on the Bengo card for October eleventh.

Speaker 2 (01:14:51):
Not at all. Yeah. I think it's one hundred percent
true on the NFC East. By the way, for people
who didn't get the reference as somebody who made fun
of the Brian Schottenheimer situation from the day that it started,
I gotta eve them credit. At the very least, that
offense is humming. We'll see, you know what the Cowboys
can do going forward. Right now, the number one offense

(01:15:13):
in the NFL as they get set to face the
Panthers on Sunday, the Eagles d twenty ninth ranked offense
through six games. Fox Sports Radio ertors Jason Martin will
come back when we do Disaga with his extended Saturday

you didn't hear, Milwaukee did advance to face the Dodgers
in the NLCS that starts Monday night. Milwaukee is the

(01:16:43):
top overall seat ninety seven wins this year. They have
home field advantage. There are five late games in college
football because this game in Tucson had a lightning delay
of about an hour.

Speaker 2 (01:16:54):
After the first quarter.

Speaker 7 (01:16:55):
It's been a long night and it goes overtime with
a late BYU score late fourth quarter. So now Arizona
has settled for a field goal on its overtime possession
BYU at five and oher has taken over ranked eighteenth,
They're down for the moment twenty seven to twenty four
at Arizona in the ot BYU's playing a stretch where
these four games in a row the overtime right now

(01:17:17):
at Arizona. They're facing rival Utah next Saturday night on
Fox TV, and then it's BYU at Iowa State and
at a top ten Texas Tech team. By the way,
Arizona State is visiting Utah tonight and twenty first ranked
ASU has been down seemingly all night. Twenty eight ten.
Utah leads late in the third. The late games at Hawaii,

(01:17:38):
they've just ended the first quarter. Hawaii leads Utah State
ten to three. Among the other games that haven't gotten
much notice, UNLV is six and oh with Dan mulland
come back win today at home fifty one forty eight
over Air Force. You reference the name Bowling Green early.
Eddie George is the coach of Bowling Green and they

(01:17:58):
had a big comeback today down town twenty one nothing
before halftime and beat Toledo twenty eight to twenty three.
In that MAC Conference is the University of Massachusetts, which
yes is still still fielding a football program, but my goodness,
oh and six so far this year. They were at
Kent State, which was one and four. UMass was down
forty two to six in the third quarter and that

(01:18:19):
wound up being the final. Oregon State is oh and
seven after losing it home to Wake Forest thirty nine fourteen.
SMU won again thirty four to ten against Stanford Cincinnati
Bearcats five and one, three to zero in the Big
twelve so far after beating UCF, Houston is five and
one after a win at Oklahoma State thirty nine seventeen. Boy,
the Cowboys gone south again one in five for Oklahoma State.

(01:18:43):
TCU was four and one but lost today. Kansas State
beat TCU forty one to twenty eight. We had a
ut San Antonio win tonight against Rice of sixty one thirteen.
Navy won thirty two thirty one at Temple. And remember
when North Carolina's Belichick's team each Charlotte early season. Hey,
it's a win for the tar Charlotte is awful. They're

(01:19:04):
one and five right now and they were trailing at
Army twenty four to nothing in the third quarter today
twenty four to seven the final. Meanwhile, UCLA, with its
new head coach, new coordinators, coming off the win over
Penn State, dominated at Michigan State today it was thirty
eight to seven in the third quarter. Bruins won at

(01:19:24):
thirty eight to thirteen, and Penn State lost at home
to Northwestern twenty two to twenty one. As we mentioned earlier,
not only has Penn State lost three in a row,
Penn State quarterback Drew Allar, who is a senior, is
out for the year with a lower leg injury. Nebraska
won at Maryland thirty four to thirty one with ten
points in the fourth quarter. Iowa, with the shutout victory

(01:19:46):
at Wisconsin thirty eight nothing and Minnesota won with two
touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Tonight twenty seven to twenty
against Purdue James Madison five and one after beating Louisiana.
Update BYU has kicked a fel goal, so we're going
to a second overtime. Twenty seven all of Cougars at Arizona.

Speaker 2 (01:20:05):
My favorite tweet from last week with UCLA Penn State
was a Penn State fan saying, we're getting out coached
by a team with no coaches. So that is again
down a interim head coach, intermocye intern DC. UCLA now
two and zero with those guys in place. Fox Sports
Radio aer toards Jason Martin will come back, a lot

(01:20:26):
of college football to reset and a lot of NFL
look forward to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (01:20:31):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (01:20:34):
Welcome back everybody, our three towards Martin, Fox Sports Radio.
We are broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. Yes,
we are live at one oh one Eastern Time on
a Sunday morning, midnight Central, and of course it is
still Saturday in the Mountain and Pacific time zones. Busy

(01:20:55):
day of college football, speaking of the Mountain time zones.
Two games coming down to the wires and Sega just
told you BYU eighteenth ranked and undefeated, up thirty three
to twenty seven in a second overtime over Arizona. Arizona
has the ball, we will see if they can score.
They would have to go for two and Utah in

(01:21:16):
control against the Arizona State Sun Devils. Jaymar Let's get
through a busy Saturday in college football recap for everybody
who's been driving around working, missed the games, whatever you know. Listen,
there's a couple stories of note I do think to me,
I still think listen. I know some would criticize me

(01:21:38):
for saying this. I still think the biggest story is
what happened in Auburn, Alabama. Georgia wins twenty to twenty
to ten. But the story in this game. Auburn was
driving late in the first half, up ten nothing. They
are on the goal line Jackson Arnold. Their quarterback dives

(01:21:59):
for the end zone, for the goal line. It appears
to cross the goal line. It is called a fumble.
The ball is knocked out, but it's called a fumble
on the field. They go to replay replay actually feels
like it should have confirmed it. It does not. The
ball is given to Georgia. They kick a field goal

(01:22:20):
before the half and then score seventeen unanswered in the
second half to win twenty to ten. I want your
taking half a second, jmr. But Hugh Freeze was asked
about the officiating. Also worth noting very weird play late
in the game. Kirby Smart was seen motioning for a
timeout as the clock was set to expire. The refs

(01:22:42):
give him the timeout. He claims that he was just clapping.
They do not call the time out. Georgia gets to
keep the timeout, but the clock stops. So a lot
of stuff going against the Auburn Tigers at home. They
lose twenty to ten. Hugh Freeze asked about the officiating
after the game.

Speaker 3 (01:22:58):
Once the season, the secs are had to release the
statement to say how they messed up. I mean, when
when does Auburn step up and try to make a
change for plays that clearly were incorrect. It didn't go
your way.

Speaker 9 (01:23:09):
I have no clue. It's not the Auburn part I'm
worried about. I know, I know who our president and
administration and ad are and how they feel and sure,
sure it feels like we're not getting any breaks and
it's difficult to take for sure, even on the I'll
never I mean, there's a lot of things, but you know,
it felt like we broke the plane. All you have

(01:23:31):
to do is the ball, just the nose of the
ball just has to break the plane. And I thought
that was had a pretty good shot of that.

Speaker 2 (01:23:36):
On the That was Hugh Freeze after the game. He
did continue for a little while. It was a bit
of a bit of a longer clip, so I wanted
Marry to cut it off right there. He and to
be clear, he did say throughout the press conference, we
have to close. We were in position. But that game,
that play did feel like it completely altered the game.
Auburn driving to go up seventeen nothing instead it is

(01:23:59):
called a fumble recovery by Georgia. Georgia scores twenty unanswered
by that point and went twenty to ten.

Speaker 3 (01:24:06):
J Mark, Yeah, I mean Auburn was not the same afterwards,
and they had everything going their way the momentum, the
crowd was rocking, their defense was doing what it's done
for the majority of this season, which is be dominant.
I'm not saying that Georgia doesn't come back and win
the game even if it's seventeen to nothing. I think

(01:24:27):
george is a better football team overall. But yeah, I mean,
it's gotta be tough to take, and it's gotta be
tough to take for Hugh Freeze knowing those could have
gone a different way, and if they go up seventeen nothing,
you feel pretty good about your chances, I think, considering
it was that close to halftime. But you know, you
do have to remember they did play an entire second

(01:24:50):
half after that, and Auburn was unable to do anything
in that second half. I do think it was deflating
and it felt like Georgia was in danger of losing
touch with that football game, and the officials, maybe not
maybe definitely gave him second life. And it's difficult for Auburn.
But again I said this earlier, Jackson Arnold is the

(01:25:14):
kind of quarterback that is not going to go win
you a game. He's just going to be serviceable. He's
not going to make the big mistake and throw eighteen
interceptions and lose you a football game. But he's probably
not the guy that's going to win you the football
game based on something that he does. And on the
other side, Georgia has a guy that can do that

(01:25:35):
and has been tasked to do it a couple of
different times already this season, and he's answered that call.
I think that's just the biggest difference is Jackson Arnold
is He's fine, but he's not it. He's not going
to be that, And I think that's going to be
the holding pattern for Auburn going forward. Now that they're

(01:25:56):
sitting basically at five hundred. They're an exception defensive team
that basically has to pitch a shutout in order to
beat anybody good. And that's just that's just too big
an ask of anybody.

Speaker 2 (01:26:09):
Yeah, there are three losses. At Oklahoma twenty four to seventeen.
You heard in the comment the reference about the SEC
already having to send one note about, you know, screwing
up a call that was in the Oklahoma game. There
was a touchdown that should not have stood that did.
They lose by seven at Oklahoma, six at Texas A
and M. They lose by ten on Saturday night. And

(01:26:29):
if you think it gets any easier in the SEC,
Auburn host Missouri on next Saturday. So it does not
get easier. The stat on Hugh Freeze now two and
eleven in games decided by ten points or less. Under
Hugh Freeze, the quote that we did not get to
We find ways to not win football games, and that
has to change. By the way, we do have a

(01:26:51):
final in Tucson, Arizona BYU was five and zero coming
into today, ranked eighteenth in the country. They trailed by
double figures in the second half. They rally to win
in double overtime thirty three twenty seven. They get a
victory first fourth quarter double digit comeback since twenty fifteen.

(01:27:12):
They trail twenty four to fourteen in the fourth quarter.
BYU survives a couple of late games. Will keep you
updated on how much.

Speaker 3 (01:27:19):
Different would this be if Arnie was still in this
time slot.

Speaker 2 (01:27:23):
Oh, it's a great point. Great point. Arizona up ten
with you know the ghost of Arnie Spaniard is still
very much alive in the late late, late time slot. Yeah,
Arizona was up twenty four to fourteen in the fourth quarter.
BYU loses. Arnie having some trouble in Connecticut. By the way,
he just moved to Connecticut. He was tweeting about cops

(01:27:45):
pulling him over something. I I don't know what's going
on with that guy. Let's see here. I'll find the
tweet really quick. As Arizona does lose BYU survives, Let's
see if I can find it really quick. Arnie Spaniard, Arnie,
if you're listening, you could go ahead and just call in.
I'm not gonna I don't know, just move to This
is tweet from October ninth. I just moved here. Monday,

(01:28:08):
three police cars walked up to us to talk about
walking the dog near this business. They said, it's been
a problem. I just moved here exclamation point, took my license,
ran it, asked for my phone number, and where Beth worked?
Really question mark. So, on top of Arizona blowing a
ten point fourth quarter lead, apparently Arnie span here is

(01:28:30):
on the radar of all the police in rural Connecticut
where he lives here.

Speaker 10 (01:28:34):
Also, he also tweeted today though that he's on his
third TV since moving there. The first one there was
a cracked screen, the second one was apparently kept freezing.
So he's on his third TV. Now it'll be just
one because he just threw this one up there.

Speaker 3 (01:28:46):
This this this finish I'm sure has destroyed whatever.

Speaker 10 (01:28:49):
This one was cracked two now for a different reason.
Remember a great line from a movie Once upon a Time. Ah, yeah,
I hurt my back old football injury. Oh did you play?
No Jets blew a twenty point lead? I threw my
TV out the windows. So familiar with that one.

Speaker 2 (01:29:04):
Yeah, I think it's out to see if I remember correctly,
Walter Mathow that was the line from that movie. So anyway,
BYU does beat Arizona thirty three to twenty seven in
double overtime. All right, j mart let's keep the conversation going. Yeah,
you know, choose, choose, You choose your poison, I mean,
not poison. But you want to talk Arch. You want
to talk James Franklin. By the way, Billy Napier and

(01:29:26):
the Florida Gators fell to oh and fourteen under Billy
Napier against ranked teams outside of the Swamp. All the
goodwill with the Texas win is gone as they lose
to Texas A and M. What intrigues you most from
Saturday is it Arch is at Penn State losing another
game as they entered the season ranked number two in
the country and are now three and three, zero and

(01:29:46):
three in the Big Ten. What is the most intriguing
thing to you?

Speaker 3 (01:29:51):
I mean Indiana, That's that's the biggest takeaway from me
for the day. But James Franklin is in Penn State.
Just I'm not seen a team. Maybe I'm forgetting something
a team with this level of hype entering this season,
have it go this sour.

Speaker 1 (01:30:11):
This is actually where I.

Speaker 3 (01:30:13):
Was thinking about this when we were talking about the
Cowboys earlier. This reminds me of the Cowboys when Dak
Prescott got hurt last year, where it had already fallen apart.
It was already it just it wasn't working very well anyway,
and then Dak got hurt and he was done for
the rest of the year. It was like, well, what
do you expect Dak got hurt. They weren't good before

(01:30:35):
Dak got hurt. That's kind of what we're seeing right
now with this team. This team that you know went
overtime and lost to Oregon and then UCLA basically got
a I don't know what that was, but I wasn't
expecting to get right game for the UCLA football program

(01:30:56):
to be Penn State. But it turned out day did
you see the story by the way, that why did
I forget the name of the interim heead coach Tim Skipper? Yeah, Skipper?
Did you see that? He had put notes in the
seat of everybody on the airplane on the way to
Michigan for the Michigan State game that said, are you
a one hit wonder? Like just just saying, hey, there's

(01:31:18):
more to do, Like, yeah, that was cool and all,
but let's not you know, let's get some more done.
And of course they did throttle Michigan State. But and
then Northwestern, I mean, come on, this is it's stunning.
I mean, it's going to lead, right, I mean, obviously
the NFL is going to lead after tomorrow. But this
James Franklin story, there's nothing bigger in college football than this.

(01:31:41):
Because Penn State was the favorite, right it was. Penn
State and Texas were probably the two biggest favorites entering
this season. Penn State had Drew Aller coming back, who
the story was, maybe he should just you know, he's
pro ready last year and everything else, and they're right
there in the College Football Playoff and here comes khn
Allen and Singleton, like everybody is coming back outside of

(01:32:04):
Abdul Carter who went to the draft, and like they're
gonna be good. They've even gotten some receivers now out
of the portal, like they're gonna be a much better
football team. They're a disaster. They've lost three in a row.
I saw this stat I'm sure you saw it too.
That to lose by twenty or more in back to

(01:32:25):
back games, or not lose lose when you were favored
by twenty or more in back to back games hasn't
been done in thirty years.

Speaker 2 (01:32:34):
I actually did not see that. I'm not surprised, but
I had not, and.

Speaker 3 (01:32:37):
Penn State has. Yeah, I mean, it doesn't seem like
it's something that would happen very often, but it has
not happened in thirty years, and Penn State has managed
to pull that off. Like that's that's good stuff. It
really is, and I just want to see. I wish,
actually I could listen to like radio in and around

(01:32:58):
Penn State on Monday, like when they're doing their daily shows,
and I would love to hear the call ins because
you're not going to get that on like fine Baum
or national shows and things like that. I want to
hear exactly what those people say after a loss like this,
like Northwestern beat you at home. I didn't see the game.

(01:33:22):
I wasn't able to tune in because I was watching
other games basically at that point. But I have to
imagine the scene at the end of that game was
not particularly good.

Speaker 2 (01:33:33):
They were before the game. I you know, I'd be
lying if I said I watched, you know, a significant
chunks of it. But what I did see was that
before the game they're doing First of all, you reference
this in hour one tickets were what six seven bucks
nine dollars?

Speaker 3 (01:33:48):
Yeah, get in that might be with step up feeds though.

Speaker 2 (01:33:52):
With the feest, so it is like, yeah, seventy two cents.

Speaker 3 (01:33:55):
Pre feest, so yeah, all in pricing.

Speaker 2 (01:33:57):
Yeah. So but they know, they introduced the players and
even Drew Aller got nice cheers whatever, and one you
could just see the empty seats that were there, and
then two when they introduced James Franklin, he did get booeds.
So you know, listen, I think your point earlier is
the most important one to me is that, you know,
I think that now it's just kind of I just

(01:34:18):
think there's going to be disinterest. I think there's gonna
be a lot of cheap tickets available for the remainder
of those home games. But I don't think I don't
think it will absolve James Franklin. I don't think it
should now it will absolve him if they go. You know,
they're three and three right now. If they go four
and eight, it'll be like, well, I mean, they wouldn't
have been four and eight without Drew Aller, but well,

(01:34:39):
they're probably.

Speaker 3 (01:34:39):
Gonna lose their next three at least, right, let's see
what the next clear Iowa, Indiana and Ohio State.

Speaker 2 (01:34:47):
No days off in the big ten. It just needs though, baby,
Yeah at Ohio State or at Iowa at Ohio State.
In Indiana, Yeah, they're losing their next three. Wow, I
didn't even realize that. So they're gonna have two top
ten teams. I mean, I guess in theory, if Indiana
were to lose next week to whoever they're playing, they're playing.

(01:35:07):
Let's see here, Indiana's playing Michigan State. Yeah, they're not
losing that game. I mean, Signetty never loses to bad teams,
so you know whatever. Yeah, I mean, I think oh
to three is absolutely in play. You know, I listen.
I'm not an advocate of players. Shutting it down midseason.
But like if you're those running backs, you know, Kate

(01:35:27):
Tryn Allen Nick Singleton, like maybe there's some nil offset
money that you know you don't get paid whatever. It's like, dude,
i'd be shutting that that thing, or.

Speaker 3 (01:35:37):
Penn State would. Would Penn State fans be that upset?
I don't think so. I think they'd all understand.

Speaker 2 (01:35:43):
Yeah, No, I think so too. I think it's you know,
I feel bad for the players, but the coaching staff
did them no favors, didn't put them in position to
have any level of success. And yeah, I think to
your point, like it's gonna be easy to just write
it off as hun I mean, once Drew Aller gets hurt, No,

(01:36:03):
he played the entire game today. They were in position
to lose prior to his injury. They went zero to
three in his final three games. And not to say
that he was the only reason that they lost. But
they stink. And I don't know what they do with
James Frank.

Speaker 3 (01:36:16):
I just can't believe they stink. Is a thing that
you can say that there's no pushback on, Like, there's
no there's nothing to say other than yep, that's pretty
much it. Yeah, like that's incredible.

Speaker 2 (01:36:25):
No, and I just you know, I'm not smart enough
to know how it all works. And again for people
who are just joining us after the season, the buyout
quote unquote drops to about forty six million, So I
don't know if it's all due within a certain amount
of time. You know, some of these contracts that can
be paid out over years. Some of them, like Mark

(01:36:45):
Stoops at Kentucky, we found out this week he would
be owed everything within sixty days. So the point I'm
trying to make is, you know, we'd have to see
is James Franklin owed all of it in you know,
the first whatever. And the crazy part is too really
quick on James Franklin. I want to you know, talk
NFL here in a minute. But crazy thing on James
Franklin is it's run its course. But he's not a

(01:37:11):
terrible coach. That's the crazy part is like you could
justify up until this year of like well you know,
he just but he doesn't lose the bad teams. He
takes care of business against everybody he's supposed to. Now
he's losing a bad teams and just transparently, I just
think in this era that we live in. I don't
think it's hyperbole to say this is probably the best
team that he's ever going to have. And this was

(01:37:33):
supposed to be the year after Ohio State lost everybody,
after Oregon lost everybody, Michigan's got a freshman quarterback. It's
just whatever. I could go on and on, but it's
just such a disaster.

Speaker 3 (01:37:45):
So yeah, I mean, it's just a complete nothing burger
of a season where all the hope in the world
was they might actually be able to pull this off
this year, and instead it's actually gotten worse. To your point,
the narrative was always he wins the games he's supposed
to win. We've heard that from a million different people,
including you and me many times on this show. And

(01:38:06):
now that narrative is shattered. Now he doesn't even beat
those teams. So what exactly do you hold your hat on?
And the answer is nothing, And it just feels like
both the parties have kind of reached that point of
no return where it's we just need to go our
separate ways. James Franklin can still coach, and you'll probably
have another opportunity to prove that. Matter of fact, I

(01:38:27):
know he will, but I don't think it can be
at Penn State. I don't think there is a tenable
fix to this relationship at all. The only thing keeping
it together right now is money.

Speaker 2 (01:38:37):
Yeah, I'll just put them all on this segment by saying,
we talked about it earlier in the show. By the way,
you can always download the podcast after, but talked about
it earlier in the show. Is I have to imagine
the days of these crazy buyouts in the NIL era,
when you're paying the players so much money. I just
I find it hard to imagine that any coach is

(01:38:57):
going to have these thirty forty fifty sixty million, four
guaranteed buyouts. It just hampers the school so much. We're
seeing it at Clemson where Dabos Sweeney is three and three.
We're seeing it at Penn State. We're seeing it Kentucky
with Mark Stoops. You know, Brian Kelly and Lincoln Riley
have kind of coached themselves out of it, but I
know that's been a question with them as well. Crazy

(01:39:17):
World of College Sports, Crazy World of College Sports. Fox
Sports Radio Erin Torres and Jason Martin, broadcasting live from
the Fox Sports Radio studios, come back speaking of crazy
Week six of the NFL is on the way, several
big games Detroit, Kansas City, Washington, Chicago, and much much more.

(01:39:37):
We'll discuss it next. Fox Sports Ratio Welcome back, everybody.
Fox Sports Radio erin Torris, Jason Martin broadcasting live from
the Fox Sports Radio Studios Game one ALCS on Sunday
night on Fox. Speaking of which, during the baseball postseas Heavy,

(01:39:59):
you know noticed, Strauss made history as the first brand
ever on Helmet's family owns since nineteen forty eight. Strauss
makes workwear built to perform smart pocket design, real comfort
and durability you could trust from grit to glory. Gear
up today at Strauss dot com. That's Strauss st Russ
dot com. All right, I'll tell you what. We got

(01:40:22):
a monster Week six of the NFL getting underway on
Sunday morning. We did it technically got underway Thursday with
that Giants win. But I'll tell you what, Mary, give
us some freaking music. Ian, give us a bunch of
great games to preview. The floor is yours, producer, Ian.

Speaker 10 (01:40:40):
Yeah, guys, all right, let's start with this CBS game
in the afternoon one twenty five Pacific time, forty nine
Ers are traveling to Tampa Bay to take on the Buccaneers.
Tampa Bay's favored by three and a half points in
that game. I just want to know those guys before
you actually tell me your picks for the games. Baker
Mayfield's been playing an MVP level this season to this point.

(01:41:01):
What do you guys think could he end up winning
the award?

Speaker 3 (01:41:04):
No, but I do agree that he's playing out of
his mind. I just and I'm not even saying he's
going to come back down to our earth. I just
think somebody's gonna end up supplanning him. He could have,
he could keep up much of this pace. I don't
think that he will end up putting up MVP numbers.
But nothing but love for Baker Mayfield again, making me

(01:41:25):
seem like I knew what I was talking about when
I said he shouldn't have come back from that injury
in Cleveland.

Speaker 2 (01:41:31):
By the way, I hope your ACLS are okay because
you pivoted off your Lions to the Super Bowl pick
pretty early. I mean you were like, you know.

Speaker 3 (01:41:40):
Arias back, I'm back on that. I'm back on that.

Speaker 2 (01:41:44):
Yeah, there you go, buddy. We will talk about who
both of us had winning. Yeah yeah, but you did
have the Lions of the Super Bowl, and like everybody
and by the way, I include myself on that, I
you know, after week one, it was the overreaction that
everybody had of just like oh yeah, like they stink.
Oh no, they're actually awesome. Dan Campbell's awesome. By the way,

(01:42:06):
I cut you off, j Mart I'll say this, I
feel like I'm a little bit more on I think
Baker could be there in the end. I think Listen
Lamar's obviously out of the conversation. I think completely Josh
Allen is incredible. But are they gonna give it to
him back to back years mahomes, you know whatever, Like

(01:42:27):
I mean, I don't know. I think I actually do
think he's gonna be there till the end. And here's
the crazy part about the Bucks as well. The schedule
actually starts to get a little bit easier. They obviously
have San Francisco this weekend, at the Lions next weekend,
but still got two games against the Saints, still got
two games against the Panthers. They also have the Dolphins,

(01:42:49):
So I'm kind of thinking that he stays into the
conversation till the end. I cut you off, what do
you think of the game Sunday? By the way, I'm
curious for your perspective.

Speaker 3 (01:42:58):
I like them to win. I think that's a that's
a tough one for the forty nine ers to come
all the way across the country to play a red
hot Tampa Bay team where I don't you know, they
haven't had Mike Evans in a couple of weeks, and
Chris Godwin's coming back from the injury and that hasn't
really kind of geled all that well. And Bucky Irving

(01:43:19):
is out, but Rashad White's filling in admirably. And then
Mecca Ibuka is winning people's fantasy leagues right now. He's
just been outstanding as a rookie for them, stepped right
in already has five touchdowns. I like the Bucks to
keep on rolling. I like the defense, obviously the Todd
Bowles is putting out there, but I think the offense
is humming. I don't see, you know, no, Nick Bosa.

(01:43:42):
I don't think the pass rush is going to be
anything the Baker can't handle in this game. And it
just seems like even if the Niners are able to
do something offensively, and you know, Seemac will do his
thing and Mac Jones will probably play. Okay. I just
think Tampa Bay is a pretty solid football team, and
I think they're better right now.

Speaker 2 (01:44:01):
All right, so I have Tampa Bay winning. To you
mentioned a Mecca Abuka. We got to give a shout
out to our Fox Sports radio colleague, a Mecca. Rob
Gronkowski talking about Amcca Buka after last weekend's game, Mary, go.

Speaker 11 (01:44:15):
Ahead, Amika Big Boo.

Speaker 2 (01:44:18):
That's it he does, there's not the whole club.

Speaker 3 (01:44:20):
Is that a joke?

Speaker 2 (01:44:21):
That was really Rob Gronkowski on Fox trying to say that,
or you know what was crazy? He actually sort of
got it right the second time. Is everyone on set
absolutely made fun of him. But that was one hundred
percent Rob Gronkowski trying to say a Mecca Abuka. Uh,
you know, just play it one more time, Mary, if
you have it in Freddie Mary, Mary says she has it.

Speaker 11 (01:44:45):
Mary said, give a credit to this rookie Sensation wide
receiver out of Ohios Datemika big Boo going for over
one hundred dollars.

Speaker 3 (01:44:53):
Aka, Amka at Buka.

Speaker 11 (01:44:56):
I'm getting confused, are going lights out? Once again?

Speaker 3 (01:45:00):
Mika was closer.

Speaker 2 (01:45:04):
I saw that late Sunday. It was unbelievable. That was
after the Bucks thriller against the Seattle Seahawks. I'll take
the Bucks to win as well. Mary, keep the music going, Ian,
I guess we got to preview some other stuff. Although
I think the show just peaked right there. What's the
next game we're talking about? Yeah, we can just end
it with the Amika big booth thing. I think that works. Yeah,
see you next week, guys. All right, no, but let's

(01:45:26):
go to the Sunday night game. The Detroit Lions going
to Arrowhead to take on the Chiefs. Chiefs are actually favored.

Speaker 10 (01:45:32):
In this game by two and a half points, but
they are backed into a corner here at two and three.
If they lose this game, is the season over for
Kansas City. You know, I was just gonna ask jan
Mark that same question. Thank you, Ian, because you know
we keep and and by the way, I include myself.
After they beat the Ravens to win that second straight
go to two and two, I said, maybe they're gonna
be fine.

Speaker 2 (01:45:51):
Maybe we overreacted, Like at some point, you just you
can't keep dropping these games. And even Jacksonville is a
little bit better. You've dropped this game to fall to
two and four. I know the Chargers are struggling in
the division. Denver got off to a slow start. You
still got Buffalo, you still got Washington. I don't like,
at some point we have to acknowledge that this just

(01:46:13):
isn't last season or any of the seasons under Andy
Reid with Patrick Mahomes. I'm not there yet. And I
love the Lions in all seriousness. I think they're awesome.
You lose this game to fall to two and four, though,
It's kind of like, at some point we got to acknowledge, like,
we can't just keep making excuses and assume it gets
turned around, especially if you fall to two and four

(01:46:35):
Saturday with what would be a second home loss of
the third second home loss of the season.

Speaker 3 (01:46:40):
Yeah. I mean, Detroit's the team that's going in the
right direction. The Chiefs seem to be I don't know, average,
like from week to week, they're not particularly trustworthy. This
game's at home. When they played Baltimore at home, we
know how that went. I just don't see it going

(01:47:01):
their way though. I just I'm not sure why I would.
There's just there's something absent there like that the it
factor doesn't seem to exist with them this year as
a football team. It's kind of hard to keep fading
them or to keep picking against them. I just don't
see Detroit going in there and not beating them. So
I've got Detroit winning that game. I'm not sure why

(01:47:23):
Kansas City's favored either. Quite frankly, yeah, I.

Speaker 2 (01:47:25):
Have Detroit winning as well. And I'm with you as
I just at some point, like we have to acknowledge,
like you can't just keep taking losses and assume that
they'll eventually figure it out because they have in the past. Well,
let's do one more game, because obviously we have to
get an update with our man to Sega. Here in
just a minute, go ahead of you.

Speaker 10 (01:47:41):
Yeah, one more, the second of the Monday night doubleheader.
Let's do a Chicago Bears going to Washington to take
on the Commanders. Commanders are favored by four and a
half points. Here, who you got dream mark man.

Speaker 3 (01:47:51):
This is gonna be a rough night for Caleb Williams
because this is Caleb v. Jaden Daniels and Washington's just
flat better. I mean, right now, you've got Ben Johnson
apologizing for being rude during halftime interviews. With a D
D kinkabwala on CBS. It just it's not quite there yet,

(01:48:13):
is it in Chicago? This just doesn't seem like a
road trip that's gonna go particularly well for them whatsoever.
And I think it's the scene of the crime, is
it not? Oh yeah, it's the team or the crime
at the very yeah, the big time like yeah, that
he's never gonna forget. And he says he's still like
sleepless a lot of nights thinking about that. I just

(01:48:34):
think Jayden Daniels and that offense right now are just
they're in a much better position in Chicago. So I
actually don't think this game. This game has a possibility
to be not very close and not watchable pretty quickly.

Speaker 2 (01:48:47):
So I actually happen to agree Jadan Daniels healthy. I
think the other thing too. One the Bear survived the Raiders. Okay,
congratulations the Raiders stink. Sounds weird, but young quarterback young
off I think when you're hot as hot as they were,
they weren't great against Vegas, but they were good enough
to win. I actually, weirdly don't think the bye week

(01:49:08):
helps at that particular moment, Like it's almost like a
hot baseball team, like you don't want a bunch of
time off between games or series or whatever. And I
think it's the bye coming early. Maybe wasn't the best
thing for them. I'll go ahead and take the Commanders
to win on Monday night, all right, I'll tell you what.
Jmart will come back wrap the show before we do

(01:49:29):
though final time this evening, Steve de seger my Man.
What is trendy?

Speaker 7 (01:49:33):
And with all the running backs, Washington has gone through
number one rushing team in the league so far, averaging
over one hundred and fifty yards a game on the ground,
They're not gonna have much in the air as far
as wide receiver telling Deebo Samuel missed another practice Saturday
for the Commander's bruise toal so we'll see the Washington
wide receivers. Terry McLaurin and Noah Brown are each out again.

(01:49:54):
Falcons wide receiver Darnell Moody out Monday with a bad
hamsterring Cardinals quarterback Kyler mur very likely out with the
spring foot according to NFL Network. If you didn't hear
ravens QB Lamar Jackson missing a second straight game with
the bad hamstring, forty nine Ers quarterback Rock Purty will
miss a second straight game with his toe injury. Tight
End Brock Bowers of the Raiders out again this weekend

(01:50:15):
with the bad knee. They go up against Tennessee Titans.
Kicker matthew Wright was elevated from the practice squad, Joey
Slye out this weekend with a calf injury, and Green
Bay sine kicker Lucas Haversik to the active roster with
Brandon McManus questionable with a quad injury. The nl Division
Series ended tonight in Milwaukee, game five of the best
of five, to the top seeded Brewers three to one,

(01:50:36):
eliminating the Cubs. Cubs offense went four for thirty one,
Brewers hit three home runs, and the NLCS begins Monday night.
Dodgers at Brewers. Milwaukee went six to zero against LA
in July. The Brewers and Seattle have never won a
World Series title. Seattle's at Toronto starting Sunday night on
Fox TV, and the AL Championship Series Game two there

(01:50:58):
in Toronto will be on Monday. In the NHL sixteen games,
every team in action tonight, including Anaheim, with an overtime
comeback seven to six win at San Jose. Major League
Soccer Miami won four nothing against Atlanta, two goals for
Lionel Messi. Now to college football, we had a few
late games, including BYU staying undefeated, comeback double overtime win

(01:51:19):
at Arizona thirty three twenty seven. There was a lightning
delay in Tucson after the first quarter of over an
hour so long night there. Utah at home is closing
out final seconds ticking off, closing out a win forty
two to ten over twenty first ranked Arizona State, which
was missing its injured starting quarterback. San Diego State is
romping at Nevada. It's forty four to ten with under

(01:51:41):
two minutes left late first half of the late game.
Utah State has come back to lead at Hawaii twenty
to seventeen. Ohio State, ranked number one, wanted Illinois to
start the day thirty four to sixteen. Buck Geys were
up ten to nothing late first half. Defense had four
sacks in the game. Illinois two and two in conference
off next week, and then at walked Washington top ten
matchup to Indiana at Oregon thirty to twenty. That game

(01:52:04):
was tied with under seven minutes left Hoosiers had gone,
believe it or not, oh and forty six in road
games against top five teams in the history of the program.

Speaker 2 (01:52:15):
At Kertzignetti set after game. That's a heck of a
stat I believe was the quote. Absolutely it is.

Speaker 7 (01:52:20):
In fact, all time, they had been one and seventy
two overall against home more road against the top five team.
Turns out, the one win was against Purdue after Bob
Greasy was there in the late sixties, so congrats to
the Hoosiers. Oregon's defense had tied this game early fourth
on a pick six key for a lot of the
first three quarters. Indiana had kicked a fifty eight yard

(01:52:42):
field goal at the end of the first half, but
Oregon's quarterback Dante Moore one touchdown, two interceptions, sacks six times.
The Oregon offense on twelve drives, only had fourteen first
downs and so a big win for Indiana and the
Hoosiers do not play another ranked team on their schedule
the rest of the regged season. Ole miss in Texas,
A and m each one. Texas beat number six Oklahoma

(01:53:05):
twenty three to six. Longhorns were down six nothing late
in the first half. John Matteir did play. He threw
three interceptions in the loss was sacked five times. After
last month's broken hand, Alabama won its top twenty matchup
at Missouri twenty seven to twenty four. Ty Simpson three
touchdown passes, Texas Tech and Georgia Tech each with wins.
Victories for Georgia, LSU and Tennessee. The tenth ranked Georgia

(01:53:28):
Bulldogs won twenty to ten at Auburn tonight despite trailing
ten nothing late first half. On the ground, Bulldogs as
a team thirty one carries just seventy nine yards rushing.
USC at home beat number fifteen Michigan thirty one thirteen
that was a seven to seven game late in the
first half. Notre Dame and BYU with wins. Cougars the
double overtime win at Arizona, Colorado upseid Iowa State pitt

(01:53:51):
one at Florida State thirty four to thirty one. Seminoles
zho to three in the ACC and Penn State, losers
of three straight, lost at home to Northwestern twenty two
to twenty one, and Penn State quarterback Drew alar is
out for the year with a leg entry back to.

Adam Osland following US J mart Game one ALCS Mariners
coming off of a fifty. By the way, I was
talking to Manci and Martin about this during the break.

(01:55:52):
Last night was awesome. Friday night was awesome Game five
of the Alds and it was awesome because the ghost
Runner wasn't there. And I'm sorry. The ghost Runner is stupid.
I will always believe that it's stupid. I've told this
story on air, maybe not with you, but I was
at the longest game in Angels history and it was awesome,

(01:56:14):
and when seventeen games. It was during the regular season,
but there was a lot of tension. It was a
fun game to be at. It was a cool game
to be at, so anyway, at the very least, I'm
glad that the ghost Runner doesn't exist in the playoffs.
But Seattle, obviously coming off that thrilling win, now has
to go to Toronto, which is obviously well rested after
taking care of the Yankees in six any strong opinions

(01:56:36):
on either Game one or this series Toronto, of course,
with ninety four wins in the regular season.

Speaker 3 (01:56:42):
I'm with you on the ghost Runner. It just feels
like it's like a cheap way to get to an ending,
and it's just there's no need to gimmick it up
like that. Like I think the excitement of a fifteen
inning game that is hard fought, competed to the end,
know that we need to be fixing that as if

(01:57:03):
that's a flaw. I can understand really interminably long regular
season games and things like that, but thankfully that's not
happening in the playoffs. Like if those games go twenty innings,
we're gonna watch playoff games. That's just the way that
that goes. I don't have a strong feeling one way
or the other. I like, I think I'll be pulling

(01:57:24):
for Seattle, and I think maybe the reason why is
similar to a lot of other reasons, a lot of
other people's reasons why, which would just be, you know,
the Griffy and Jay Buhner and those teams back in
the day, the Randy Johnson teams, like they never got there,
and that Marinders fan base has not had a whole
lot a lot to cheer for since that point in time,

(01:57:47):
since that era, so to see them get back there,
I mean, at least the Blue Jays won a couple
in the nineties because they ran into My Braves, and
My Braves were not great in World Series until ninety
five and then we returned to being good until a
long time after that. But I just think Seattle's a
good story. I think I'd really like to see Seattle

(01:58:08):
in Milwaukee, just because I'd like to see one of
them actually win it, even though Dodgers is what MLB
is going to be praying for in terms of the
ratings get and all that kind of stuff. So I
don't know who I pick. That would be My only
thought on is like, I'm not sure who I favor
in this. I think they're both fairly evenly matched. You

(01:58:28):
come off fifteen innings. You're gonna be worn out. Are
you're gonna be fired up? I'm not so sure you're
not fired up at that point. So I think I'll
pick Seattle to win the series.

Speaker 2 (01:58:37):
Oh, I love it. I think it would be very cool.
You know, I mentioned earlier in the show Childs of
the Nineties, as you mentioned those Edgar Martinez, J Bunior,
Camaffy Junior, Randy Johnson teams like, would be very cool
to see them make the World Series Toronto. Obviously, it's
been a while since they've won one. So yeah, no,

(01:58:58):
I probably take take uh, probably take Toronto, just because
of home field advantage and because of the quick turnaround
for Seattle to win the series. But I don't feel
great about that. Dodgers traveling to Milwaukee Game one on
Monday night, Dodgers coming off that wild win over the Phillies.

(01:59:18):
I'll say this real quick. I think you can I
think you can look at it one of two ways
Dodgers won that series where they really didn't play well,
it can only get better. Or you can sit there
and say, shoey Otani is officially struggling in the postseason.
Most of their best hitters were in that series. What
do you make of the Dodgers traveling to Milwaukee for

(01:59:40):
Game one?

Speaker 3 (01:59:40):
Yeah, I mean the flaws have shown and they're gonna
have to pitch really strongly, and a lot of the
heart of their lineup just has not been particularly good
as of late. They're gonna need to be better than
that to beat Milwaukee. I'll be pulling for Milwaukee, as
I think most of the country probably will, but I
wouldn't be shocked to see the Dodgers get it back
on track. I'm actually gonna pick against them tho, I'm

(02:00:01):
gonna pick Milwaukee to actually beat them.

Speaker 2 (02:00:03):
All Right, we gotta get out of here. We want
to thank the crew. Mary Mack awesome job on the board,
Producer Ian awesome job producing. Steve de Sager, awesome job
as always from my partner Jason Martin, I Meritorus. Make
sure to download the podcast coming up next Adam Oslin
he filling it for Bernie Frado. That's X Foxel for you.
