Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Three games in this late window of Week eight. The
Titans are in Colts territory, while the Broncos have extended
their lead against the Cowboys. And an NFC South showdown
where your boy Jonathan Vilma is being fed right now
on Fox. Food in the booth. It is week eight
of the NFL season. Welcome in, Hit, carry out Bay,
carry twenty five roads. You can find me at Dan
(00:25):
Byer on Fox. No disrespect to the Colts and Titans.
Colts were a double two touchdown favorite over the Titans
today and the Buccaneers going in facing a one in
six Saints team. Game of the day for our window, Cowboys,
Broncos and after an early turnover, Denver's turned it on
against Dallas.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
Yeah, no, Denver's coming out. They've been having slow starts
for the past three weeks, and so for them to
come out and establish what this game was gonna look
like and feel like for the Cowboys with a big deal.
So for them to come out and be up fourteen
to three, have a good start, good things for the Broncos.
We'll taking a.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
Look at what's happening around these games. We will let
you know what's happening. I mentioned the Titans were in
Colts territory. Right now, Tennessee is facing a third and
six from the Colts forty two yard line, and Taja
Spears has got a first down and so much more
on a run. He's going to get down to about
the one yard line and possibly in the end zone
as they look at it. But that would be a huge,
(01:21):
chunky yardist for Tennessee on the third and six. So
they're making it a ballgame. He is out at the
one yard line. They're playing without Jeffrey Simmons today, the
star defensive alignman you heard Monte say Jonathan Taylor got
into the end zone.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
Could be a reason why.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
But that's a Titans team that has fallen on hard times.
They made a coaching change this year, have just the
one victory this year, and the Colts, who many think
are the best team in the NFL, Titans at least
trying to keep it close. Maybe is this a division
thing or is this just we need the Colts to
lean on Tennessee before they pull away.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
Yeah, it's a division thing. It's always going to be competitive,
doesn't matter what the what the records are, now. Eventually,
the better team usually wins and could pull away in
a situation, but Tennessee came out early with some fight.
The Colts are still looking great. Jonathan Taylor looks like
it looks like a new guy again, looks like the
old Jonathan Taylor.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
So it's fun to see Justin Fields look like the
old Justin Fields. I don't know if that's a good
bad thing. I don't know either. Breece Hall looked like
the old Breess Hall today. As your New York Jets,
and if you ever see any of our clips that
we put on social media or have Carrie's Fast Times,
we decorate our studio with helmets in today. We are
(02:31):
not that we are inundated with Jets stuff, but we
always have a Jets helmet on standby. For Carrie, we
have his bobblehead, but the Jets helmet front and center.
For a lot of reasons, we start with win number
one today in Cincinnati, comeback thirty nine, thirty eight victory
over the Bengals to get Numero Uno.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
What a day for the Jets, I mean for Justin
Fields to have taken the public backlash, the outcry from
the owner Woodie Johnson and all those words that were
coming out throughout the week for him to keep his composure,
keep his faith. He's a big faith guy, and come
out with without your number one receiver and Garret Wilson,
(03:13):
and to distribute the ball the way he did, and
to look confident the way he did. And even in
this game, this game was you know, seemed like it
was out of reach and seemed like it was going
to be a blowout. There were times where the Bengals
at complete control of the game, but they kept fighting.
Justin Fields is a fighter, and I think we could
all say that right now, and it just it always
(03:33):
comes to the point of when the chips are down,
what are you going to do when everything's against you,
when everybody's against you? Are you going to come out
and fight or lay down? This team came out and fought,
even in this game, like the battles within the game,
falling down by two touchdowns, to come back and score
and keep it relatively close and have a shot. The
outcome came out for the Jets where they finally were
(03:54):
on the winning end of that and now they you know,
now they can move forward and get that zero off
the board.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Just denote Titans Cammore to touchdown pass the Gunner Helm
from one yard, so Tennessee is pulled within three ten
seven colts in that contest. But you said it was
crazy week. I do want to reveal an exchange that
Carrie and I had because I just couldn't believe. I
couldn't believe what Hey Johnson said. But then I really
wasn't surprised, and I thought that Justin Fields would probably
(04:20):
take the high road, and he did. But what's surprise
to me was Aaron Glenn just not wanting to name
a starter publicly. With Torod Taylor having the knee issue.
He says that his team new And I said to you, Carrie,
I said, listen, I've stood by Aaron Glenn when I
think a lot of people have jumped ship. Very difficult
to stand by because I now felt that he was
(04:42):
trying to be coy in play games by not naming
a starter. I didn't think that it gave Cincinnati any advantage.
And you said, Dan, hold up, that's not what this
is about. What was it about Aaron Glenn and him
not naming a starter until basically they kicked off today
(05:03):
against Cincinnati.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
Yeah, it wasn't the competitive advantage. Those were words to
kind of kind of pacify the situation a little bit
and to control the situation. But this is solely Aaron
Glenn versus the media in New York. The New York
media is brutal when you're in this situation. The jets
are in and it isn't their fault for wanting answers,
(05:25):
but they don't allow you to not give them the
answer they want, so they come around in different ways.
They'll ask the question differently, and Aaron Glenn's like, I've
already answered this question. I've already told you this is
where I stand. And if that's where he stood, then
that's on him. And you know, people can have the
right to have whatever judgment they want to it. But
(05:45):
when you look at it me being there personally and
plan for the organization and plan for that city in
that state, to actually understand the depths of what's going on,
it takes more than just hearing a sound bite or
seeing a sound and kind of forming your opinion. Now
right or wrong doesn't matter. But Aaron Glenn wanted to
(06:06):
stand by that situation and combat with the media because
that was his only win up until this point in
his mind right to fight back and stand on what
he wanted to stand on.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
Well, I think it's an interesting point that you made,
because I didn't think that it would be a war
against the media at this point in that I thought
that it was Aaron Glenn maybe cracking under the pressure.
I don't think we are so quick to dismiss young quarterbacks,
and we're so quick to dismiss young head coaches in
(06:38):
the National Football League now, and we've talked about Aaron
Glenn's role with the Jets and what his plan is.
So I don't think that this is a one and
done situation. The only thing that would make me think
it would be a one and one is sometimes the
decisions made by ownership. But it really feels that there
is a relationship there with Aaron Glenn. So Glenn then
trying to play a game when there was a report
(07:01):
earlier of the week that said Trod Taylor was going
to start over justin fields and then Taylor ends up
with this knee issue, so that maybe gave Glenn some leeway.
But I never thought that it would be a battle
against the media in what Aaron Glenn is trying to
do I thought that he was just trying to be
coy and to me it felt like that maybe he
(07:21):
lost his marbles a little bit this week.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
Yeah, it could feel disingenuine, right, But for him, he's
handling so much, and you know, the head coach has
so many responsibilities and that's their job. But to have
some type of competitive advantage when you're owing six or seven,
doesn't that's not really going to be the play and
for him to give his team the chance to win,
(07:44):
you know, in that moment, he's only worried about that.
Speaker 4 (07:47):
Now.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
Is it seen as a competitive advantage from the outside
licking in or from even from the inside looking out? No,
because the team has been bad, so it doesn't matter, right,
But for him, I guess the temperature, the tenor of
the room. When it comes to the media, there's it's
like I said, it's always the answer needs to be
answered now, and they don't give you grace to, you know,
(08:10):
go through some of these bumps and bruises that you're
gonna have to go through as the head coach. Sure,
very fair point.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
You mentioned the comeback Jets scored twenty three points in
the fourth quarter today in Cincinnati. They were down thirty
one to sixteen entering the fourth quarter. Their fourth quarter
drive six plays sixty six yards in three seventeen made
it a thirty one to twenty four game. After Cincinnati
went down and scored five plays sixty yards, Jets touchdown
thirty eight thirty two Jets at that time. Defense then
(08:37):
got a three and out forcing the punt. Then nine
plays fifty eight yards, four minutes and fifty six seconds,
and then the last drive maybe the most important one
play minus one yard because that was victory formation. But
when you look at that fourth quarter, there was the
Bengals defense had nothing. They could not stop them, and
it was just a matter of if forty year old
(08:57):
Joe Flacco was going to be able to keep up
with the running game of the Jets. And there were
a couple of times where it was a play away.
There was a fourth couple of fourth down conversions by
Justin Fields, and Justin Fields didn't have those pinball games
that you sometimes have seen with him. Brice Hall was
the one who did, and that's the one who carried
the load today and just an amazing.
Speaker 3 (09:17):
Second half of the Jets to get that first win. Yeah,
Breece Hall is just it's it's such a mystery again,
I think trying to establish an identity in the league.
Obviously coming into the year, the Jets that they wanted
to run the ball, right, but I think everybody else
knows they want to run the ball as well. So
not being able to equip Justin Fields or Breze Hall
(09:38):
or whoever else is going to be in that backfield
to have some type of competitive advantage, That's why it's
very hard to blame Justin Fields in my opinions so far. Now,
he hasn't played great in some of these games, obviously,
but look at the positions he's been put in and asked,
you know, ask to overcome some of these things. And
(09:59):
so as a head coach, as an OC, that is
your job to put them in advantageous situations. And they's
never seem to have the advantage in any game to
go in when it comes to that. So when you
talk about being a head coach and being an overseer,
being a guy that's bringing the culture there, it starts
with hiring guys that you can trust to give you
that competitive advantage, and right now they don't have that.
(10:20):
But for this game in particular, it seems like they
took the kid gloves off and just you know, if
you're gonna fail, fail hard, don't fail with with stuff
still in the chamber. And it looked like they did
that in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
By the way, of all the games that the Bengals
could lose, this was not one of them. When you're
trying to get back in and hoping that Joe Burrow
can come back in mid December, not not going to
be good for Cincinnati's playoff hopes. Do you want to
keep you up to date of what happened in New Orleans?
There was a play where New Orleans fumbled. Rashid Shihid
lost the football into Wine Winfield Junior picked it up
(10:52):
right it back for a touchdown. They called it a turnover,
but after a review they called the play dead. So
Tampa Bay's got the ball right now, third and twelve,
just past midfield, up seven to nothing in that game
with the Saints. The Colts after that Titans touchdown are
driving and it looks like Michael Pittman Junior just made
a one handed touchdown. Catches got interfered with Colts likely
(11:14):
to add points, So it's sixteen to seven, extra point
Pending and Denver with that fourteen to three lead on
the Cowboys early in the second quarter. It was last
week in Denver that we saw the Broncos score thirty
three points in the fourth quarter in that magnificent comeback
and win over the New York Giants. And as we're
on air here we're talking about the honoring of the
(11:38):
Marius Thomas and putting him in the Ring of Honor,
the late de Marius Thomas. That day, we're saying, all right,
is that Carrie mentioned angels in the outfield just of
having that power look over the Broncos. It was quite
quite an emotional day for Denver. I know it's an
emotional day for you with the passing of Nick Mangueld,
(11:58):
your former teammate with the New York Jets. I thought
the same thing when the Jets came back to win today.
But I know that's been a very, very difficult day
for you and your former Jets teammates and anybody that
came across Nick mangled in their life.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
Yeah, yeah, it's been a hard one. Nick's a great guy,
one of those guys that you know, when you play
in that league for a long time, you get to
come across some really good guys. So outside of being
the Hall of Famer, which he will be, a really
great teammate, but just a really good friend. And so
(12:34):
for him and his family that are going through what
they're going through right now, it's tough, and so you know,
I don't want to harp too much on it. I mean,
I love the guy. He meant a lot to me.
I want to send love to his wife and his family.
And then for the Jets to be able to fight
and get this win and do it on the day
like this. Nick's forty five minutes from Cincinnati, so he's
(12:58):
in Ohio, gush or, which you know, and for them
to get done amazing. Big props of the Jets, and
love to all the Jets faithful for you know, showing
up in saluting Nick very well, said sen Zone Radio

Tight Ends and Colts Colts.
Speaker 3 (13:57):
Hear the red zone. Now out of the pistol. Actually
they're going to move Jonathan to the right of Jones.
Out of the gun.
Speaker 7 (14:01):
Now ball in the right hash shot couldn't snap for
Jones looking left, He's going to take a shot and throws.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
A laser towards the pylon and that is a catch
for Michael Pittman Junior.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
Pittman smart at touchdown.
Speaker 3 (14:12):
Has Pittman snared it in with one hand.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
On a twenty one yard absolute dart throve.
Speaker 5 (14:18):
By Daniel Jones to Michael pittmanc.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
Junior back to Dan Byer and carry Rhodes.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
Colts Radio Network on the call as Indianapolis is up
on Tennessee seventeen to seven. Also one of those points
in the game because Ken Wore just missed a wide
open receiver for a big play, ending up forcing Tennessee
to punt. The Colts have the ball in a ten
point game. When Tennessee was able to answer the Colts
(14:46):
score to make it a ten to seven game, you thought,
all right, we maybe have something here. But Colts get
good field position because of a decent return after the overthrow,
And now you wonder, all right, is this the time
where maybe the tied turns in that game and Indie
starts rolling downhill?
Speaker 3 (15:03):
I mean, yes, good point, Dan. I think with the
Colts right now, I don't think anybody's gonna stop them
all year, it seems like. And then you're playing a
wounded Tennessee team. Tennessee's coming out fighting obviously, like we
said in the first segment the Vision game, They're gonna
do all they can. But you can't miss those throws.
Like you just said with Cam Moore, Like in these
(15:24):
games when you're playing a team that you're overmatched by,
gotta take advantage of all the plays out there. You
can't leave any out there. And Tennessee's leaving plays out there.
So Tennessee, you'll have the football when they return to action.
Dallas has got the football right now in the Denver
red zone. It's fourteen to three Broncos on top of
the Cowboys. Bronco's wearing their orange crushed throwbacks today looking
(15:47):
so glocking prime.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
Yes, this is what it looked like in Super Bowl twelve.
That's what I've been telling people when the Broncos and
Cowboys played in Super Bowl twelve. This is what it
looked like. But right now, the Cowboys down eleven in
the red zone, but they're gonna be backed up after
an illegal formation penalty, so backed up to about the
sixteen yard line, so they're gonna have a second down
and eight in that contest. And then the other game going
on right now is at the half, we thought Tampa
(16:10):
had taken a lead of fourteen to nothing or thirteen
to nothing at least, but a defensive touchdown called back
Saints defense held in New Orleans kicks a field goal
at the end of the half, So it's seven to
three Tampa at halftime in that contest.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
Dan, how good was John Elway to you back in
that time? We don't talk about John Elway a lot,
but I'm looking at these orange crust jerseys and it
makes me think about him. Obviously, he was the to
me he was the standard.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
So at that era when I grew up, and there's
a reason why I think he was the standard. I
felt it was Montana with the Super Bowls, Marino with
the stats yea, and Marino just had this amazing athletic
ability just just a quarterback, quarterback he was and growing
(17:03):
up as a Seahawks fan, they were in the same
division as Denver was in the AFC West, So I
felt like I watched Denver maybe a little bit more
than maybe other quarterbacks, but he was he was cream
of the crop to me, even in losing those Super Bowls.
I don't think it was all on him at that point, right, Yeah,
(17:24):
he was because he could do everything. The the arm,
his mobility, it was stature. What's that statue like? Yeah, yeah,
he was in and I don't remember him playing in
college and coming into the NFL. I don't remember that time,
but when he played, and maybe the drive had something
to do with it in Cleveland, but yeah, he was.
(17:45):
He was probably the best quarterback that I thought there
was in the NFL when he played.
Speaker 3 (17:51):
Yeah, No, I mean John, Yeah, I mean when I
looked at when I looked at him just from a
you know, from a distance and starting to become a
fan of football. I mean the same thing you're like,
the ability to move, the ability to extend plays. He
was Brett Fahr before Brett farv On a little bit
like again like even like bigger, stronger, faster version of that. Yeah,
(18:12):
And I would, I would. I felt Lway more mobile.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
They both threw rocket balls, you know, like and break
your finger on on passes the cannon.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
Ye that that that he had.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
And I felt that those Denver teams were carried by Elway.
He had good receivers, but I think those receivers were
good because of John Elway, Mark Jackson, Dance Johnson, Yeah,
later on Rod Smith, Ed McCaffrey, Yeah, Ricky natiel was
an early wide receiver. But it was all it felt,
It was all Lway, and I think that nowadays we
(18:44):
don't think of him. I remember even a few years back,
having an argument with my cousin on social media because
he tried to public Yes, he tried to tell me
that he felt Ben Roethlisberger was the comp to Elway,
and I just said, you know, I said, no way,
not not not even can't happen. And because I fell
it was disrespectful to how good Elway was and what
(19:04):
Elway was. Yeah, so I know he was. He was
top of the line to me. The Denver defense, by
the way, just gave up a one year touchdown run
to Javonte Williams. So Dallas getting a little bit closer
in that contest. Speaking of close contest, the World Series
is tied up at a game apiece. M hm, Yoshinobu
y I'm a moto. Last night with the complete games,
the Dodgers even up the series at one apiece. Were
(19:27):
you like many who thought after Game one in the
Toronto outbursts that uh oh, Dodgers are in for something
or did you think LA would bounce back and get
that game too?
Speaker 3 (19:35):
No, no, I thought LA would bounce back and get
Game two. I do like the way the Blue Jays
came out and let everybody know this wasn't going to
be a sweep, which a lot of people thought what
would happen in this series? But the Blue Jays are
very explosive offensively. I mean they played Game two against
a pitcher that's that was dialed in and I'm a moto,
but and this series isn't going to be an easy
(19:56):
one for the Dodgers. Even though I think the Dodgers
are going to win it, it's not going to be easy.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
I just looked at the complete game last night, and
I know Dodger fans were saying, all right, just finish it,
let's not mess around. In Milwaukee, when they pulled Blake
Snow after eight innings, you know you got the pretty
crazy in Game one. Even though the Dodgers ended up winning,
I felt that all of all of maybe all of
America if they're not cheering for the Canadian Blue Jays,
(20:22):
but Dodger fans and so many more were just like,
all right, just finished the game. Just don't do anything
crazy with a bullpen. Just finish the game. And as
an old head, if we're talking about John Elway, just
to be able to see, just to be able to
see a guy throw a complete game in the postseason
and do so in Game two of the World Series
was pretty cool.
Speaker 3 (20:42):
It's insane. It's you got to cherist at the moments.
It's hard to do with hard to come by, especially
now nowadays. They're hitting so good. The pitchers don't usually
go long as long as they used to. But again,
the Blue Days are going to force the Dodgers to
go to the bullpen some and I think that's the
reason this series will be a little closer than people think.
Speaker 2 (21:00):

but you can find her at the news.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
Desk right now. Are there any plans to go to
either games three.
Speaker 4 (21:31):
Four, five?
Speaker 8 (21:32):
Yes, so I'll be I'll be working games two and
three for like the tour stuff, but I will be
COO three and four. Oh sorry, yes, three and four?
Speaker 3 (21:40):
Two and three here?
Speaker 8 (21:41):
Sorry gets confusing, right, especially when you work there time out.
Speaker 3 (21:43):
So it'll be games four and.
Speaker 8 (21:45):
Five then, yeah, I'm going to Game three as a fan. Okay,
we're tomorrow night, correct, tomorrow night, working games four and
five for the tours, but I'll be joining.
Speaker 3 (21:55):
They're all three nights, then, yes, they're all.
Speaker 8 (21:58):
They're all at five o'clock every single one of the games.
So it's I if they go to five games, which
they will.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
It's probably. I thought the Dodgers would.
Speaker 8 (22:08):
Lose Game one. I thought Toronto was on a high,
you know what I mean, excitement. You haven't been to
the World Series and so long, and they were playing
so well. So I thought Toronto would win Game one,
and I thought Dodgers, which they still can, would come
in a little gentleman's sweep on the way out.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
For gentlemen, sweep, Hello one for all your handicapped needs.
Speaker 4 (22:26):
Find her at.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
Season long.
Speaker 3 (22:29):
Imagine, I don't know she's got you through the World Series.
That's right, that's right.
Speaker 8 (22:34):
But let's go to the NFL right now, where the
Colts have extended their lead today over the Titans. Daniel
Jones with his first touchdown pass of the day, so
they're up seventeen to seven. This one went to Michael
Pittman Junior, and if you didn't see it, he literally
caught it on the bicep of the defender against him
like it was such a crazy catch. So seventeen to
(22:54):
seven late in the second quarter. At halftime, the Buccaneers
are up on the Saints seven to three. I don't
know what Aaker Mayfield is doing. My fantasy team is
not happy. The Broncos are up on the Cowboys. You
guys just talked about Dallas getting in the end zone.
Broncos are up fourteen to ten. Also halfway through the
second quarter. What happened earlier today, Well, the Jets got
their first win, holding on to defeat the Bengals.
Speaker 3 (23:14):
Thirty nine to thirty eight.
Speaker 8 (23:16):
Breese Hall he threw the go ahead touchdown pass to
Mason Taylor late in the fourth quarter. He also had
eighteen carries, one hundred and thirty three yards and two
touchdowns in today's win. The Bills blew out the Panthers
forty to nine was the final score. Josh Allen he
threw a touchdown pass. He also rushed for a touchdown.
And now that's forty six games with one of each
and which is the most in history, surpassing Cam Newton
(23:38):
who had forty five.
Speaker 1 (23:39):
But also James.
Speaker 3 (23:40):
Cook really stole the show.
Speaker 8 (23:41):
Nineteen carries, two hundred and sixteen yards too tough.
Speaker 3 (23:43):
Ikw Josh All had forty six touchdowns today the way
I mean waiting, the way they announced it.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
No, no, just like the way that Carolina played. Yeah, yes,
all in this game. Thanks the way that show yes, you're.
Speaker 4 (23:56):
You're right, You're right.
Speaker 8 (23:58):
Eagles outscored the Giant It's thirty eight to twenty. Saquon
Barkley also had fourteen carries one hundred and fifty.
Speaker 4 (24:04):
Yards one touchdown.
Speaker 8 (24:05):
He also caught a touchdown Saquon Barkley today, which you
don't see him do that a lot. But sad news
for Giants fans because running back camp Scataboo a gruesome injury.
Dislocated his ankle. Was taken to the local hospital for
further evaluation. But it can't be good.
Speaker 3 (24:21):
Patriots improved to six and two.
Speaker 8 (24:22):
They cruis passed them rounds thirty two to thirteen. Ravens
defeated the Bears thirty to sixteen. Derreck Henry in the
end zone twice. Dolphins crushed the Falcons thirty four to ten.
Didn't have that on my bingo card to a Togo
Violoa threw for two hundred and five yards and four
touchdowns and The Texans top the forty nine ers twenty
six to fifteen in the AP.
Speaker 1 (24:42):
College Football Poll. The top six didn't move.
Speaker 8 (24:45):
There's not a lot of movement.
Speaker 4 (24:46):
Well, what do you want to know?
Speaker 3 (24:47):
You know what I want to know?
Speaker 8 (24:48):
What about there are in it last week?
Speaker 9 (24:51):
No?
Speaker 1 (24:51):
Where are they now?
Speaker 3 (24:52):
Okayooo?
Speaker 1 (24:56):
Eight ls sixteen in sixteen. There you go.
Speaker 3 (24:59):
But no changes in the top six.
Speaker 8 (25:01):
The biggest change really is Vanderbilt coming in at number nine,
its highest ranking in the last eighty eight years. LSU
dropped out, South Florida dropped out, Illinois and Arizona State
all dropped out, and then ESPN reported not long ago
that LSU is in discussions about Brian Kelly's future that
includes outreach to Kelly about his potential departure. The situation
(25:23):
is in flux. Kelly is owed fifty four million in
buyout money.
Speaker 3 (25:28):
That is ridiculous.
Speaker 8 (25:29):
I get Carrie, get a job in college football, and
then get fired.
Speaker 3 (25:35):
You know what I'm saying, LSU.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
Is It may sound crazy this time, LSU is more
of a reason to get rid of Brian Kelly than
Penn State did to get YEHS.
Speaker 3 (25:44):
With that thought, but fifty four million reasons that he's
got to say, well, right, yeah, that don't matter.
Speaker 10 (25:53):
Those numbers, those are rookie numbers.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
Thank you guys, thank you Mom want winners. That isn't
why are you pandamas? I just don't get to goheada no, and.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
Especially too, I don't think the Notre Dame was sad
to see him leave when I ended up up believing.
There was a stat that was shown at the towards
the end of the Vandy Missouri game. And this is
something that I really think that people don't understand, maybe
because it's how college football is such a it's such
a local and regional sport because you're just so passionate
(26:29):
about your school and your area.
Speaker 3 (26:31):
But this graphic wasn't It was plainly simple.
Speaker 2 (26:34):
Whoever won that Vandy Missouri game, which was Vandy at
the end, their playoff chances were around fifty percent, and
if you lost that game, your playoff chances were down
to fifteen percent. That's very significant. And the only reason
I bring it up is because I think that college
football needs to promote those matchups more to say, like,
(26:58):
this is a playoff game. I remember last year Illinois
Nebraska played like a Friday night game on Fox. They
both started out, you know, three in all, I think
it was maybe it was an early Big ten game,
but that in assets is a playoff possible game. Now,
in the end, neither school ended up making the playoff.
(27:19):
But when you start hyping these games Carrie as playoff showdowns, yeah,
I think there's a wider reach for college football because
it could affect your team. And it's not to say
that we shouldn't watch Indiana against UCLA or we shouldn't
watch Alabama and South Carolina, even though Alabama had a
tough time. But I find like Vandy Missouri was like
truly like the game if you really want to find
(27:41):
what is the marquee game because it had so much
riding on it for possible playoff contention.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
I agree with that, and also the way that both
of those teams are doing it right. I mean, both
teams can score, both teams can play defense, and we
haven't seen this in eighty years from Vanderbilt. So so
promote that. Pump it out there. You got a god
that's open like lobbying openly for the Heisman in in Diego,
(28:06):
Pavia and so it says it could have been a bigger, bigger,
game that a lot of people would have tuned in
too if they promoted it the way you said. I've
got a perfect segue.
Speaker 2 (28:15):
But my last point on Vandy is this, Vandy changed
their logo within the last year or two where it's
now the V that you see on their helmet, but
it's an updated logo, and when they changed to the
new one, a lot of people were saying, oh gosh,
how awful, how planned, or you know, how plain it's
(28:40):
I get that it's a branding, but what is this
gold V now when you have a winning football team
associated with it, coolest darn thing in the world. And
it reminds me of the Broncos. Was we watch them
wear their throwbacks today. You and me, Carrie, remember the Broncos,
especially me, losing the Super with John Elway and Super
(29:01):
Bowl twenty one, losing it in Super Bowl twenty two,
losing in Super Bowl twenty four, and Elway can't win
the Big One. When they win, they do it in
the year where they change their uniforms, and so now
you're thinking, hey, it's this new look pony on their
helmet in Terrell Davis's success, and then you associate that
with the Buccaneers.
Speaker 3 (29:23):
We looked at Bucko.
Speaker 2 (29:24):
Bruce for so long as the loser ownership and even
said it when people were calling to wear the creamsicles again,
they'd said, well, that was attributed to a lot of losing.
This pewter color that we wear now is about winning football.
And so like Vanderbilt now with their new brand of
their their V, I think is now you look at
that and a lot of people like it more now
(29:45):
because guess what, you have a winning football team to
go with it.
Speaker 3 (29:47):
Yeah, now the V isn't for vander Bilt. It's a victory. Yeah,
very good.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
Denver, Denver trying to get a victory against the Cowboys
just got into the end zone with their two point
attempt failed. But there is a flag on the play.
It looks like it could be against Dallas at least
that's what bo Nix's is pointing to.
Speaker 3 (30:10):
R J.
Speaker 2 (30:10):
Harvey ended up scoring on a touchdown run, so there
is no flag there Dance.
Speaker 3 (30:15):
But on Denver. It was on Denver a legal man downfield.
Why why go for two here? I damn, what's wrong
with you?
Speaker 2 (30:26):
There was a penalty on Dallas, so they had half
the distance they had it from the one yard that's why. Yeah,
there was unnecessary roughness on the touchdown, so that allowed
them to get short. But yeah, I know you're the
chasing points, right. It kills me. Like, twenty one to ten,
it's still a toothcore game. It's a field goal plus
(30:46):
a touchdown and the two point conversion. I'm like, now,
it's just a field going the touchdown. It doesn't make
sense to me. I don't mind it going in that
spot and make them score two touchdowns that in that scenario,
because it's from a yard out. I just wouldn't have
ran the play that. You just got that part. Yeah,
if you're gonna get it down to the one yard line,
just run a push push or just run the football
and you need to get two extravagant all right, he's
(31:07):
carrier oats, I'm Dan Byer. We told you Denver's in
the end zone. Twenty to ten. After the failed two
point conversion, three forty seven left to go until halftime
against the Cowboys, the Colts are driving up seventeen to seven.
On the other side of the two minute warning. They're
in Tennessee territory again, up ten to take that back.
They're in their own territory. My eyes were playing tricks
(31:29):
on me. They're at their own thirty yard line. The
way the camera was, I thought it was further downfield
than when it was. The Buccaneers and Saints are just
underway in the second half. Buccaneers still holding on to
that seven to three lead, but I think they may
be knocking on the door. Kate out and get into
the end zone. Yes, he did so. Now Tampa Bay
(31:49):
extends their lead to thirteen to three with the extra
point coming up. Be sure to check out the Fox

(32:11):
We'll tell you if the Colts cash in before the
half and Montzi's got to look at some fantasy numbers
next year.
Speaker 3 (32:15):
On End Zone Radio on Fox Sports Radio, you're.
Speaker 5 (32:18):
Listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio, Cowboys and Bronco.
Speaker 3 (32:23):
Third down of goal Shotgus snapped RJ. Harvey.
Speaker 10 (32:25):
Harvey and the Wildcat takes it off right guard and
he's got his second touchdown of the game. Touchdown RJ.
Harvey and Denver once again. Here's Dan Byer and Carrie Rhodes.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
KOA eight fifty AM and ninety four point one FM
Broncos Radio with the highlight. It's been a fun game
in Denver. Field is looking good, uniforms look even better.
Broncos do that twenty to ten lead on Dallas two
minute warning. Denver's got the football in their own territory.
Colts and Titans now going to halftime, seventeen to seven,
fifty eight yard field go by Joey Sly missed it
(33:00):
right our left, he missed it to his right, So
the Titans had a chance to get within seven, but
they go to halftime ten and could have been a
lot closer. As you pointed out cam Ward with the
missthrow earlier as well, that could have gone for a
big play.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
Yeah, we talk about it, the margin for error for
the Titans. I don't think you can even measure it
on the if you had like a magnifying glass, you
wouldn't see it like it's that small. Not even it's
thinner than razor fin That is what you're saying exactly.
So when you missed the big throw of potential touchdown
and you miss a field goal, mean game that can
(33:36):
be seventeen seventeen. It's seventeen seven and the field's totally different.
Speaker 2 (33:40):
I'm gonna ask you a question about the Titans after
I just fill Buccaneers and Saints fans in on what
happened in New Orleans. Kate Otten was actually ruled down
at the one yard line. So when we left you,
we had thought the Buccaneers got into the end zone.
After review, he was down at the one. Sean Tucker
ends up getting the one yard touchdown run for Tampa.
(34:00):
Extra point is good. So Buccaneers up on the Saints
fourteen to three in the third quarter. Do you think
that the Jets are better than the Titans? I'll both
one win teams. Do you think the Jets are better
than the Titans? Oh Man, Dan, Why if they were
to play right now nine going in the next week,
(34:25):
Jets Titans to the games in New Jersey, would you
pick the Titans or the Jets to win that game?
Speaker 3 (34:31):
I'd picked the Jets to win against Okay, I'm glad
that you said that.
Speaker 2 (34:35):
I may have tried to feed you and direct you
a certain way for a certain answer.
Speaker 3 (34:39):
Huh.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
The point is this, and you made it in talking
about this razor thin margin of air. Yeah, but it's
also tells you so much about the NFL, where we
have the Indianapolis Colts, who some think are the best
team in the National Football League right now facing the
Tennessee Titans, who, sorry, are one of the worst. If
(35:01):
you don't think they are worst, there, one of the worst, yep.
And you have two plays that Tennessee could have had. Now,
not that a fifty eight yardfield goal is given, but
we've seen teams settle for fifty eight yarfield goals before,
right Dallas. Yes, So that's how close things can be
in the National Football League week in and week out
matchups how it is, but you see outcomes that you
(35:25):
don't expect. But I think that's a perfect representation of
what the NFL not only is in twenty twenty five,
but I just think overall on how close the margins are.
Speaker 3 (35:35):
That's why they're all even. You know, in the betting game,
which obviously we know that's there's a lot of controversy
going around the bed and stuff. But that's why those
all those games are one one score on one scores, like,
because it's that's what the NFL is, right. So you
go into a game, you go into the game and
you you try to you know, you try to put
(35:56):
your best foot forward, but you get in these tight
situations and the team that is more together, the team
that is well schooled, is a team that's gonna win
because they're all athletic, they're all gonna make plays. But
that's why the head coaching and the coaching matters so much,
because it's not just the players dropping the ball. Yeah,
it happens, but if you don't have the competitive advantage
or the tacticianal advantage, then you're going to be in
(36:18):
these situations where if you missed one of those plays
and you fall behind.
Speaker 2 (36:21):
Next thing, you know, you lose by twenty. It's crazy. Yeah,
just like that, he's carried out John Dan Pyre. Let's
get some fantasy numbers for Manci Bilangos.
Speaker 1 (36:30):
Fantasy hits.
Speaker 3 (36:32):
And the miss All right, Mancy, we got some hits. Yeah,
we got a lot of hits.
Speaker 8 (36:38):
Actually today, Jalen Hurts is your leading quarterback of the day.
He dropped thirty three points today for you. One hundred
and seventy nine yards in the air and four touchdowns
in the air. Not a single toush push, believe it
or not for Jalen Hurts today, but thirty three points.
Speaker 3 (36:55):
There was a toush push not in the end zone.
Speaker 4 (36:57):
That's coach correct.
Speaker 3 (36:58):
Controversy, Yes, yes, wasn't it. I got what you're saying.
Speaker 8 (37:01):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, But it's just surprisingly that he didn't
get any of them. Drake May and to a togo
Iloa thirty two points today, so right below Jalen Hurts.
May through for two hundred and eighty two yards, three touchdowns,
he had an interception. Well, togo Iloa threw for two
hundred and five yards and four touchdowns. So those are
your best quarterbacks of the day so far. It's not
what the game's going on right now. When it comes
(37:23):
to the running backs, Brice Hall is your top running
back today, thirty four points. He had eighteen carries, one
hundred and thirty three yards, two touchdowns. He also had
a touchdown pass. He gives you one more point than
Saquon Barkley and James Cook. They both had thirty three
points today. Saquon Barkley fourteen carries one hundred and fifty
(37:44):
yards a touchdown plus four catches twenty four yards and
a touchdown.
Speaker 1 (37:48):
James Cook nineteen carries.
Speaker 8 (37:50):
Two hundred and sixteen yards and two touchdowns. When it
comes to the wide receivers, your top wide receiver is
Jamar Chase today twenty one points, twelve catches ninety one yards,
coming in tied with twenty points. Khalil Shakir and Jalen Wattle.
Shakiir had six catches eighty yards and a touchdown. Wattle
had five catches ninety nine yards and a tuddymm Breethe breeze.
Speaker 3 (38:14):
Breeze got every slightly and that touchdown path was the
best throw today.
Speaker 4 (38:19):
It was.
Speaker 3 (38:20):
It was an awful throat.
Speaker 4 (38:22):
It was exciting.
Speaker 3 (38:23):
You're gonna break it down in fast times. You're gonna
break it down.
Speaker 8 (38:27):
Exciting can be awful.
Speaker 2 (38:29):
Yeah, it was something, as they say, it was something.
All right, Monsy's gonna gonna duck out like the Panthers
did today. In the sure first half of our show,
they were like, I'm done, So Monty have a great weekend.
Speaker 3 (38:45):
In Jordan. First perfet who's our technical producer, is.
Speaker 2 (38:49):
Gonna jump over to the news desks and be with
us the rest of the show. So we say, Chris
Lines are on by You're not, Yeah, you're working a
lot more.
Speaker 3 (39:00):
That just means I am less distracted. Well you got.
Speaker 2 (39:04):
We don't put a positive being on it, but thank
you very much. Mancia at FUN came to talk to
you again. In week nine, the Broncos are on the
scoreboard again. What a dime from bow Nicks. They're had
Bryant a sixteen yard touchdown pass and catch, actually twenty
four yards excuse me, twenty four yard pass and catch
extra point is good? Tenver now up twenty seven to
ten on Dallas, thirty nine seconds to go until halftime.
Speaker 3 (39:26):
Yeah, I mean Dallas is at a disadvantage for sure
at this game. They got six of their top DB's
out for this game, and the Broncos are not giving
them any any grace in this game.
Speaker 2 (39:37):
I think we look back at what the Broncos did
last week and say, man, everything had to go right
for them. Yeah, you talk about turning points in the season,
and again you're talking to a guy that in myself
that did pick Denver to win.
Speaker 3 (39:51):
The Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (39:52):
That's all right, but I mean to be able to
have that performance and now continue it this way, I
think bodes well.
Speaker 3 (40:00):
By the way they're showing Super Bowl twelve.
Speaker 2 (40:01):
Dude, is this is exactly how it looks They're doing
it on CBS Sports. I'm surprised they didn't go into
later in the game when maybe this was a blowout
and show some of these highlights. But I feel that
maybe Denver could get a boost from last Well, I.
Speaker 3 (40:12):
Think they already think it's a blowout, Dan, so they're
going to it early. They're cashing in all of their chips.
All right.
Speaker 2 (40:19):
He's carry Roads. Hit them up at Carrie twenty five roads.
You can find me at Dan Byer on Fox. Bucks
lead the Saints fourteen to three.
Speaker 4 (40:27):
Third quarter.
Speaker 2 (40:27):
We told you Denver's up on Dallas twenty seven to ten.
Dallas trying to add points. They do have two timeouts left,
and at the half, Jonathan Taylor and the Colts lead
the Titans seventeen to seven. Taylor with this eleventh rushing
touchdown so far of the season. That's the best in
the NFL. All Right, The NBA had quite the week.
The NFL may have its own conspiracy theories. I'm going
to give you some as well that have nothing to
(40:48):
do with gambling. He's carry I'm dan.
Speaker 3 (40:50):
That's next.
Speaker 2 (40:52):
We got three games of this late window, one well
into the third quarter as the Buccaneers they're going to
try to add more to their eleven point lead again
and the Saints just underwear. Are the Titans and Colts
in that AFC South showdown, And as Chris Perfecchius told
you up, it's been all Broncos today over the Cowboys.
Welcome in. It is end Zone Radio. Our insider Adam Kaplan.
(41:13):
We'll be joining us, saying about twenty minutes or so
plus we respond to all the action in the NFL,
including what happened earlier today Week eight, a week where
we have six teams on buy. So you wondered on
how exciting could things be? Oh, just the Jets getting
win number one with a monstrous fourth quarter the top
(41:34):
Joe Flacco of the Cincinnati Bengals headlining our stories of
the day.
Speaker 3 (41:37):
Yeah, I don't think it ever disappoints. Right, we can
always find a couple of games that peaks our attention.
Some unknown things happened some while and wacky things happen
to be down two scores in the fourth quarter and
come back and find a way to win, get to
two point conversions and a running back throw a touchdown.
That's pretty exciting.
Speaker 2 (41:55):
It was a thirty nine to thirty eight win over
the Cincinnati Bengals for the Jets today. Not the highest
scoring team of the day. That would be the Buffalo Bills,
a forty to nine win over the Carolina Panthers. I'm
pointing this out not because of James Cook's performance today
nineteen carries, two hundred and sixteen yards and two touchdowns.
(42:16):
I'm pointing it out because of James Cook's performance the
last time the Bills played. If we remember the last
time we saw the Buffalo Bills, it was on Monday
night against the Atlanta Falcons. My how things changed as
span of two weeks, But it was at that point
that the Buffalo Bills, I don't know, they were trying
to find themselves again on offense, but it just didn't
(42:38):
seem like they were using James Cook how they should
have that there was more and more being put on
the shoulders of Josh Allen and so in that loss
to the Falcons, James Cook had seventeen carries for eighty
seven yards, and on the surface, doesn't look like that
would be anything different from the nineteen he got this week,
or the fifteen that he got the week prior, the
twenty two that he got prior. In watching that game,
(43:01):
watching what Bjehn Robinson was doing, what others were doing,
it just didn't seem like the Bills committed to James
Cook had a bye week, sure seemed to commit to
him today as he was over the two hundred yard mark.
Speaker 3 (43:14):
One hundred percent agree. I mean, we know that they are,
I think devoid of the big, the big super weapons,
and to go downfield and have the number one guy
be a guy that you can just throw the ball
to and get those major plays, and so you have
to center it all around Josh Allen and Cook. Cook
(43:36):
is a running back that I could see having similar
stats and similar numbers as a b Jhon Robinson, as
a Jonathan Taylor. I mean, he's in that mix. I
mean he's I mean, those guys are a little bit
more I mean, Jonathan Taylor's a little bit more proven
than those guys, but those both of those guys are
right there, and you can utilize him that way, get
him to give him the ball in the past game
as well, get him some screens, get him some some
(43:56):
touches as a receiver as well, And so for them
to come out and do it that way after a
crushing loss on Monday night, it was positive sign for
the Bills because they can't win just relying on Josh Allen.
Does a bye week do you that much good? Like?
Speaker 2 (44:10):
Does Buffalo sit there and they take Week seven off
after that that lost to Atlanta? Does that allow you
to recalibrate for the rest of the season. I remember
we saw that happen with the Buccaneers when they had
a late buy and Tom Brady was there and they
ended up going on the run and ultimately winning the
Super Bowl. It seemed like it altered them. Is that
a real thing of recalibrating on a bye Yes.
Speaker 3 (44:32):
If you have the right guys that are the leaders
of that team meaning I'm gonna go I'm ana quote
to here, I meaning everybody, the management, they head coach, like,
all of those guys have to be locked locking step Dan.
So right, Like, if you have those guys that really
take that time to dive into the things we do
(44:52):
well the things we don't do well and actually be
able to address that in that week. Yes, and then
it also you a chance to sit back and watch
other people play football. And I think that's the other key,
besides fixing the things that you do right or wrong.
You get to see b John Robinson get all the touches.
You get to see Jonathan Taylor get all the touches.
And so you have a guy that's just like that
(45:14):
or close, so you paid this offseason and train him
the ball. Yes, I think that it was. Some teams
may need a buy week ten, some need a week twelve.
I think that the Bills needed a buy week seven,
and we look at them as a whole. Don't worry.
Speaker 2 (45:28):
I'll give you credit for your pick of New England
against Buffalo on Monday Night in week five, but Buffalo
in the start of the year. When you step back
and look at what the Bills have done and what
they didn't do, we remember Week one where they make
the crazy comeback and they top Baltimore forty one to forty.
(45:49):
There are warts when your defense gives up forty points. Yes,
the next week, sorry, they face your Jets and completely
dominate New York. Yeah, there's not a lot there to
go on because you're just a better football team than
the Jets were. Ye Week three, the game that I
was at in Buffalo, they play the Dolphins on Thursday
Night football, and the Dolphins kind of hang around, but
(46:11):
it's a win. You know, he'sa a short week division opponent.
You know, those things happen. The Saints then come to
town the next week and they win by about twelve,
but it wasn't a dominant performance. Saints kind of hung around.
But guess what, the Bills are four to zero. Everybody
else is losing in the AFC. Something we've talked about.
The first month of the year was magnificent for Buffalo.
The Chiefs were losing, the Ravens were out of it.
(46:33):
It was an opportunity for Buffalo to seize control. They
then lose on Monday Night and against the Falcons it
seemed to be the Josh Allen show. And so now
you're all those first four wins came very easy, but
I didn't think they were great in those wins, and
so this allowed them to at least refresh. And I'm
not saying a win against Carolina as something to write
(46:55):
home about but if you look at what they did
in their previous games, this is the first time they
kick the crap out of somebody since Week two. And
coming out of a bye and having James Cook have
the day that he did, I felt was a pretty
big deal.
Speaker 3 (47:07):
It's a huge deal. And yes, the first four games
there were four O. But me, like you, I didn't
think they were that good yet. I didn't. I just
thought they took advantage of what was put in front
of them, right. So if you think about we talked
about it earlier, like this league is a league that
at the end of the day, it's going to be close,
and they had Josh Allen, right, and so they were
(47:28):
able to win those four games. The first one in
all actuality, they probably shouldn't have won, right, but they did.
And so you go with what you have. They are
four O. Then they get a you know, a rude
awakening by a team in the Falcons that needed to
win in the worst way, and they came out and
got to win. And that's what this league is about. Dan.
(47:48):
Teams come into certain situations super desperate and in need
of a win or a big moment, and then when
you get in that moment and you have a team
that's four and no thinking, you know, their stuff doesn't think,
and you get that rude awakening and you lose and
you go to four and one. It's the perfect time
to go into the Bay and exactly what you're saying.
Speaker 2 (48:07):
And it was also a team that had four home
games in their first five weeks. Did they Yeah, and
I know that the game was in New Jersey, Yes,
but then they didn't leave New York for the first
month of the season, like New York State. Yeah, you know,
like that's except to go to New Jersey, right, Like
exactly what did they take the bus? Which was again
(48:28):
they didn't have to go into the city, So hey,
it worked out. Maybe it was, but they that's what
fell in line for the Bills, and you could start
to you know, read your own headlines and do that
sort of thing, but it didn't. It didn't happen with
the Bills at least in week eighth, and they came
out with a huge win over Carolina Jonathan Taylor's added
again eighty yard touchdown run. So after the Titans got
(48:51):
the ball, got it in Colt's territory but couldn't convert
to third and three, they punted it on fourth and four,
went to the end zone. Colts started on the twenty
yard line. The drive one play, eighty hards Jonathan Taylor
eighty yard touchdown run.
Speaker 3 (49:08):
Colts up twenty four to seven. And we just talked
about it, Dan, you miss those opportunities in the first
half to keep this game relatively close or even tied
at this moment. And now instead of it being even
if he broke that long run, it's twenty four seventeen
twenty four. It's a different game. And you see the
good teams and teams like the Coats now that are
as sending to be a great team to come out
(49:29):
and take advantage. The team doesn't want to, you know,
do their part. Let's go do our part, and they
come out and do it right right away.
Speaker 2 (49:35):
There's also like Cincinnati today, I felt like at times
Cincinnati was scoring too quickly, putting your defense back out
on the field. If you're the Titans, you just just
hang in there. It means the Colts defense here got
two minutes of rest on the sidelines.
Speaker 3 (49:50):
Yes, right, So.
Speaker 2 (49:51):
Like so if you are get a field goal, if
even if it's twenty four to ten to use your scenario.
After this touchdown, the Colts defense now has to go
back out on the field. Maybe they're a little bit tired,
maybe Tennessee. Then you go down an answer and then
you make it that sort of ball game. But yeah,
those missed opportunities by the Titans of frustrating to say
the least if you're a Titans fan. All right, this
(50:13):
is what we've got going on right now in New Orleans.
After the Colts took that twenty four to seven lead
on the Titans in Indianapolis, a pass towards midfield Rashid Shiheed,
who fumbled earlier, may have just fumbled again. In a
similar scenario, the Buccaneers had a touchdown taken off the
(50:34):
board earlier in the contest, and now this could be
another turnover for the Saints. They're going to say that
he that Rai Schiheed did not catch the football in
that scenario, so it's going to remain Saints football. That
would have been a very very tough turnover to overcome. Now,
with just a minute fifty seven left to go, two
(50:55):
minutes to go on the third quarter, fourteen point deficit
for the Saints, that they give the ball back to
the Buccaneers at midfield.
Speaker 3 (51:01):
By the way Tyler Shook his into the.
Speaker 2 (51:02):
Game, Louis for Spencer Rattler. This seems to be a
coach's decision, as Rattler is on the sidelines with a
baseball cap on, not being attended.
Speaker 3 (51:13):
By any medical staff.
Speaker 2 (51:14):
So right now, Tyler Shook has replaced Spencer Rattler as
the Saints are down fourteen to Tampa Bay late in
the third quarter. The other game just underway second half,
Broncos up on the Cowboys by a score off twenty
seven to ten. Coming up next hour, I'm going to
give you my conspiracy theories for week eight. I was
going to do it here, but I do want to
talk about baseball on what's going on tomorrow night World
(51:37):
Series shifts to Los Angeles and you're starting to get
that familiar feel I always remember growing up in watching
let's just say growing up because it's in the nineteen nineties,
those cold Yankee playoff games that you get now with
the Dodgers seemingly in the playoffs advancing every year, it's
the cool California Knights feel. The scene ship to La
(52:00):
with the Dodgers evening up the series at a game apiece.
Should be some fun baseball coming up over the next
three days.
Speaker 3 (52:06):
Yeah, I think so. I know a lot of people
didn't have the Blue Jays being a real factor in
his world series that I that I've been reading up on.
But I think these Blue Jays are hit to fight,
and they got some guys that can keep this thing close.
Speaker 2 (52:19):
So I'm excited to see what happens. I'll tell you
a story You've may have heard it. We know a
lot about vlad Guro Junior and the headlines where I'm
from in north central Wisconsin. That's where Dalton var Show's
originally from. He's from a town about an hour away
from where I live. In our area, there there were
a couple of big name athletes talk about my love
(52:42):
of the Seahawks, and Dave Craig came from the area.
Hall of Fame Center, the late Mike Webster, the Pittsburgh
Steelers from our area, but there weren't a lot of
of pro athletes. Jim Otto Hall of Famer from that
area as well for the for the Raiders. But when
we would go and play Marshfield High School, they had
a display case with Gary Varshow's jersey from the Pittsburgh Pirates,
(53:06):
So like, oh wow, they had a high school. You know,
there's some of that went to high school, went and
played in the Big League. And it's meant no disrespect
to Gary Varshow, but it wasn't like a household name,
but still it was a really really big deal. So
and Dalton Varshow has been on a couple of teams,
played in Arizona, but now with the Blue Jays. So
there's a little bit of I like to see Dalton
(53:26):
Varshow do well because of the ties back to the
hometown and the home run that he had in Game
one really set the tone and then the and then
Toronto started running away with it. But if I am
going to have a dog in the fight, that would
maybe be a reason why pull for Toronto.
Speaker 3 (53:40):
Well, you better watch out. You're in Dodger town right now.
I am fully aware.
Speaker 2 (53:44):
From all of the I'm trust you, and I'm gonna jump
by any bandwagons right now.
Speaker 3 (53:50):
I'm just saying.

are in Denver territory early in the third quarter and
the Buccaneers continue to lead the Saints by that seven
to three seventeen to three count. Coming up next trade
deadlines on the horizon. Who could be moved prior to
the trade deadline a week from Tuesday last That to

on Fox. Denver was up twenty seven to ten. At
that point, Cowboys have just answered Jamonte Williams a one
(55:07):
yard touchdown run, so he is cash Jenn extra point
is good. We got a ball game in the Mile
High City, twenty seven to seventeen, eight minutes to go
in the third quarter, eight minutes to go in Indianapolis
in the third quarter, Colts driving against the Titans twenty
four to seven. Indie up with the Colts facing a
third and three, and the Buccaneers have just added to
(55:28):
their lead twenty to three on top of the Saints
early in the fourth quarter, where the Saints have made
a quarterback Chaine Spencer Rattler out. Tyler Shook into the
game as Kerrie wants you to know the Louisville.
Speaker 3 (55:40):
I was gonna say it again, Dan, Louisville. No, these
the Buccaneers of the Tenland business. I mean, they're playing
against the team that's I think many people thought would
be the worst team in the league. But they're not.
They've been They've actually been competitive and played some really
good football, and in my opinion, with what they have
over there with the Saints, and so for the Buccaneers,
this is one of those games you want to come
(56:00):
out and be workming, like, get to get the job done,
and right now they're doing that.
Speaker 2 (56:03):
The Colts, I misspoke. Colts were near midfield. They weren't
in Tennessee territory. They just converted on a third and
three butt laundry on the field, flag on the play
holding on Indianapolis. So they're going to be facing a
third and thirteen around their own forty three yard line,
but up seventeen on the Titans. Joining us now, as
he does every week. You can find him on Exit
(56:25):
Kaplan NFL or Fox Sports Radio NFL insider Adam Kaplan,
who you can also hear on the Inside the Birds podcast,
joins us as he does at this.
Speaker 3 (56:32):
Time every week. Hello, Adam, how are you?
Speaker 4 (56:34):
Gods I'm good, Yeah, Ano, They're exciting Sunday to National Footballer.
Speaker 2 (56:38):
Let's start out in the week that was for the
New York Jets. My goodness ends with a win today
against the Cincinnati Bengals, but not without drama all week long.
What were you hearing about Aaron Glenn's decision with the quarterbacks?
And Carrie made a great point saying that Aaron Glenn
was talking to the media not to anybody else when
he wouldn't name a starter. But what do you know
(56:59):
about the Jet quarterback situation leading up to today's win.
Speaker 4 (57:02):
Yeah, look, it was going to be Tyrod Taylor and
Tyro Taylor got hurt as a knee injury and they
got stuck with Justin Fields. I say stuck, I mean
Woody Johnson saying at they fall meeting this week, but
we need a quarterback to complete, to pass. I mean,
that's just that's not right. You can't do.
Speaker 3 (57:15):
It's it's stupid.
Speaker 4 (57:17):
You know, it's crazy. So a team source told me
in the spring, like behind the scenes, wood he pledged
to be a better owner, more supportive, not be out there.
But you know, he's a guy who's very into social
media all over to He's he knows what the fans
are saying. He sometimes reacts to it, and he just
sometimes can't help himself. Just when you think it's going
(57:37):
to be quiet, he does that. But you know, Dan,
somehow they found a way to when they were getting
beat up pretty badly. They were down on a fourteen
to fifteen a number of times, and they came back
and Joe Flacko could only do so much. The defense
is just horrendous. They you know, they fired. It's really funny,
and I don't I'm not saying they made a mistake.
Lou Aniroumo the defensive times talking to teams that play
(57:58):
the Bengals was not competitive, so he could only understand
why he's fired. Now. Lou Ada Roumo was about to
go seven to one with the Colts and the Bengals
defense collapse today. So it's funny how things work.
Speaker 3 (58:07):
Adam must stay with the Jets, and let's let's let's
let's talk about Breeze Hall a little bit here. I mean, yeah,
he's been in the trade rumors and you know, people
talking about go away. Yeah, and he comes out and
has a performance like this. Does this change the narrative
around him staying there or going to where else? It doesn't.
Speaker 4 (58:22):
Okay, No, he's on the finevers deal. My my understanding
has been for months that they have no plans this
the staff that inherited him, the front office that extend
his contract unless they change their mind, they're not going
to extend it. And uh, a team like the Chargers.
See the reason why they're they're they're that people talk
about the Chargers potentially is because the Chargers know that
Omaron Hampton will be back this season. Najie Harris will not,
(58:45):
but Hampton will be back sometime in December, if not
before that. They just need a back that could compliment
Amaron Hampton. They who's they don't need to worry about
next for Hampton's in the future, he's going to be
the guy. He's the first round pick. So getting Breese
Hall in the fire never's rookie deal. And remember it's
it's over four million in cash, but it's pro rated,
so it it's just a matter of one of the
(59:06):
Jets willing to accept. They've got Isaac Davis who had
a good game today at a fifty yard run. They
lost the other kid, unfortunately. But the bottom line is
the Jets are playing for nothing right now. They're what
it is is you have a brand new front office
and heard of this roster and they're they're what we
call evaluation modives of the term. But yeah, it makes
no sense for them to keep resalling. By the way,
(59:26):
the trade deadline, guys, is a week from this coming Tuesday, Tuesday,
the first Tuesday November at four pm.
Speaker 2 (59:33):
Yeah, and we've already seen it started. Adam kaplan our
NFL inside are joining us. Uh, everybody is not going anywhere,
which I always think is leverage from teams of guess
what we have every intention?
Speaker 3 (59:43):
We have no?
Speaker 4 (59:44):
Yeah, you know Rix Bielman. By the way, Rix bielmana
came with that. I actually asked ricked about that. It's
funny he choose when Rick about not trading eighty. I
had actually had a report. It was true. They denied it,
but I know for a fact it was true that
they were listening for when Adrian Peterson was having his
off the field stuff. Sure, at the beginning of it
(01:00:05):
in Minnesota, You're right, teams are telling me that he
was available and that actually sold for the Fightings called
me and yelled at me, and I said, well, wait
a minute, is he available or not? He goes that's
the guy said that you're not but you're not right
what you were reporting. But you didn't tell you didn't
deny that he was that he was available. The guy
wouldn't answer the question. Who called me and yelled at me?
He wasn't Rick, But I asked Rick years later, I said,
by the way, where did you come up with it?
(01:00:27):
Is our not our intention to trade him he goes
or whoever the player was and Rick because he used
the language, so they left them in opening, not the
intention to that's the point.
Speaker 2 (01:00:36):
Dan, Yes, it's it's crazy to see this pop up
and I'm like, oh, that's the season it is. No
one is really open to anything and that it changes. Yes,
it's just one thing though, Dan, real quick. So what
happens is because the trade deadline has been moved back
a month since when I first started coming.
Speaker 4 (01:00:52):
Used to be in early October. Now it's early in
November because teams asked the competition committee, look, we need
more time to us whether they're buyers, sellers, or we're
gonna hold pat And because it's so wide open this year,
like the Giants now two and six, and Scatterbow is
loft for the season with the right ankle dislocation, and
it could be worse than that when they get the
testing back, full testing back. The Giants could be sellers
(01:01:14):
at the deadline here, like the Bengals now if they
lose next week, they could they could trade Trey Henderson. Again,
it depends what happens over the next couple of weeks.
Speaker 2 (01:01:24):
Adam Kaplan joining us here on Fox Sports radio. So
how did the Ravens get in this mess? Did they
try to pull a fast one over everyone.
Speaker 4 (01:01:30):
By let me let me right, let me explain that
that the uh and I don't know if Kerry is
a player remembers like the I'm gonna say with them.
In the last ten to twelve years, the NFL changed
your injury reports. They took away the probable designation, they
made a questionable doubt for out and then what happens is, Dan,
I know what you're referring to. So basically, if you're
(01:01:53):
a starter and you lose any reps, like if the
backup gets reps, you have to be listed as limited.
If the starter takes all of his reps. Although let's
say typical practice, Dan is if Lamar Jackson his typical
practice is thirty reps, but he takes all thirty with
(01:02:15):
the backups or the scout team, which is more than
third team, you have to list that as limited. Now,
if they would have listed Lamar as limited instead of
full Friday, the Bears could have prepared by the way.
They could have prepared the right way, like if they
saw that he was limited, then they knew he might
not start. Whereas when he took full means that that's
(01:02:35):
with the first team offense, which it wasn't. That was
that was that was mislisted by the Bear the Ravens.
Now what I expect to happen at a minimum, I'd
be shocked if they're not fine. Knowing the way these
things are, I would bet the house. I mean, you
want to know what's funny to me about all of this?
And they have to be fine for this is a
bad mistake.
Speaker 2 (01:02:52):
It is because he was limited on Wednesday and Thursday,
but the line was still.
Speaker 3 (01:02:58):
Raven six and a half six.
Speaker 4 (01:02:59):
And a half, so they dropped the two and a
half bet, in which book is correct.
Speaker 3 (01:03:02):
So Vegas is thinking Lamar Jackson is going to play, and.
Speaker 4 (01:03:06):
I did Friday, I'll be honest with you, I was like, wow,
he's well. The reporting on Monday, Dan, just so you know,
that said he was expected to play, and by the way,
he was not Friday, like he just didn't feel right.
In fact, it was after Thursday's practice that he and
that's why they backed off. So yeah, they kept it.
(01:03:27):
This is not going to be good. I'll be by
the way, it's his right hamstring, just so you know,
it's his right hamstring.
Speaker 2 (01:03:32):
Which, by the way, on the heels of what happened
in the NBA this week, So of course I know crazy,
but he was listed as questionable. We've seen brock Perdy
throughout this season at times get limited practices in and
still not play, be held out by the forty nine ers,
so I didn't think it was a given that Lamar
was going to play. The only thing that made me
think was never about questionable and never about the full practice.
(01:03:55):
It was all about how Vegas looked at it. And
that's the funny thing to me, that Vegas their information
was not good because to Adam's point, it dropped four points, right,
it did.
Speaker 3 (01:04:05):
It was bad.
Speaker 4 (01:04:06):
Yeah, it was bad, and it's they're gonna get fine.
If they're not, then I've I've thrown my hands up
that the league clearly doesn't get it. Because I could
tell you if I'm dealing with you know, I used
to own a football you still have a website called
Football injuries dot com Jake Laser and another partner, and
I could tell you that dealing with the league and
knowing how they try to keep this thing clean, you
(01:04:27):
know it's a shame though, you know you know of all,
I don't know if you wear this, Dan, I know
you are enough carriers. So the NBA puts out injury
port where they'd started doing this when gambling was in
twenty eighteen, when gambling was, you know, in most states
became legal sports sports betting. They put an injury report
out every night. And not only is it seven days
a week, they put out like twelve updates a day.
Speaker 3 (01:04:48):
Every hour.
Speaker 2 (01:04:48):
Every body right, crazy.
Speaker 4 (01:04:54):
Yeah, so look, I'm very I you know, you know
it's funny not your bringing this up. And I didn't
go to the fall The fall meeting is usually very boring.
But when I go to the spring meeting, I cannot
wait to talk to the league about this. This This
is to me, it's going to be on my raidar
because they do not let you know how many reps
that the players get with the first team offensive defense.
(01:05:16):
But I wish they would do that and clearless up
so it's something to talk about.
Speaker 3 (01:05:19):
Gut Wow, that's that's insane. You guys are giving me
a tutorial on howit.
Speaker 4 (01:05:27):
A minute, But Kerry, when you got hurt? Okay, so
were you aware as a player how you were listed?
Speaker 3 (01:05:33):
I mean yeah, I mean about what No I know, Adam,
I would be lying.
Speaker 4 (01:05:39):
But here's the thing, like, for instance, now now I
don't know if Kerry started, Dan, you may not even
know this, but this is how far back I go,
so the inactives when I started coming to the league
in the early two thousands. This is a true story.
It's ridiculous as it sounded. The clubs would have to
release the inactive report Friday after practice. Dan, if you
even knew that this is, I couldn't up. And the humility,
(01:06:03):
it's just humiliating for players to find out that they
wouldn't be playing after Friday's practice and they thought they
could play.
Speaker 3 (01:06:08):
Yeah, it was bad. Oh yeah that would suck. All right,
let's let's move on from the injury report and talk
about the team that playing right now. But let's let's
talk about the game. This late game tonight, we got
the the Aaron Rodgers Bowl, heading back, heading back, heading back. Well,
he's not hitting back, they're coming to him. But playing
his first team, he has a chance to beat every
(01:06:30):
team in the NFL if he wins against the Green
Bay Packers today. Do you think it happens today?
Speaker 4 (01:06:35):
I'm picking the Steelers. You're talking to Steelers. I think
what happened last week right, because it was the Steelers
losing last week to Joe Flack within the Bengals right
on a short week. Ye they played in Cincinnati, and
this happened to them against Cleveland one year on a Thursday.
Like they just it's just one of these things. They
(01:06:55):
played a lesser team mentally, they weren't quite up for it,
and they had a lot of defensive bus. They really
bad communication bus in the secondary. Now the feeling is
they've straightened this out. We're gonna see because Christian Watson's
gonna play for the Packers tonight. He was activated off
of ire on Saturday. Jade reads out, but Christian Watson
(01:07:15):
could run. He's the best deep threat. Matthew Golden's been
clear to play. It's a big game. Yes, it's it's
the revenge ball if you will for Aaron Rodgers. But
the Steelers here, that was a big guys, that was
a big loss last week. Let's call as it is now.
I know that the end of the rate. We talked
about this last week. The Ravens are still waves away.
They're two and five, but the Steelers are the clear favorite.
(01:07:36):
Look if the Steelers lose tonight, Yep. This isn't major
league baseball, folks.
Speaker 1 (01:07:40):
This means a lot.
Speaker 4 (01:07:41):
That's that brings the division a little tighter.
Speaker 2 (01:07:43):
Not to not to look ahead and look past. But
it's a short week. Ravens Dolphins on Thursday. Yeah, that's
it's brutal. Not often enough, both teams coming out on
winning streaks. Let's look at it that.
Speaker 4 (01:07:54):
Hey, Miami, Mimy looked great to play with Atlanta.
Speaker 2 (01:07:57):
That was gonna be my question, Mike McDaniel say his
job for this season with that win today?
Speaker 4 (01:08:02):
No, no, it's.
Speaker 3 (01:08:04):
Not not after the end.
Speaker 4 (01:08:05):
We're not firing him now. But this look, I know
that Steve Ross is kind of given him the dreadic
vota confident. It's more dreaded than anything when they when
owners do this. Uh, it's just a mess there, Dan,
I wish Mike well, I hope he keeps his job. Look,
there are the defenses is now today they were good
with Kirk. They had to face Kirk Cousins though on
a short week for him, Kirk, but the bottom line
(01:08:28):
is they're not very competitive. Dolphins' is a great win
for them, no doubt. Against the boy you know what
what the Falcons. They're on my underachieving team. I'm very
disappointed with and I know Raheem a little bit personally.
Rahim Marsh, I root for him, but I root for coaches.
But I'm surprised because their defense now today they weren't good,
but their defense actually has been carrying them. Their offense
(01:08:50):
has been inconsistent in terms of the past game. Man,
today they were horrendous and they are three and four
guys under five hundred.
Speaker 2 (01:08:56):
Right, well, yeah, we'll buckle up for that one on Thursday.
Speaker 4 (01:09:01):
Okay, heyn Broker's night off.
Speaker 3 (01:09:03):
You mind it.
Speaker 4 (01:09:04):
It better be who the hell would want to watch?
Speaker 3 (01:09:05):
I'll tell you what.
Speaker 2 (01:09:06):
That's the perfect night to say, honey, let's do dinner, right,
let's go on almost the game.
Speaker 4 (01:09:10):
For you it anyway, because you know what, I watch it.
I'll watch it. It's on TV, but it's like for
the fans though.
Speaker 3 (01:09:17):
It's rated NC seventeen. Oh that's how bad it is?
Speaker 11 (01:09:20):
Bad?
Speaker 1 (01:09:21):
Good luck.
Speaker 4 (01:09:21):
I'm still that.
Speaker 3 (01:09:22):
One sports radio Adam. We appreciate it. Came back to
talk to you a week now. Thanks out see it
all right, find him at Kaplan NFL. He's carry Roads.
I'm dan Byer.
Speaker 2 (01:09:32):
We got some scores around, almost a turnover in Denver,
but Dallas holds out too the football. Let's go to
the news desk Chris Purfett giving us the latest of
what's happening in week eight.
Speaker 3 (01:09:40):
What's going on, Chris, Right, Dallas looks to be holding
onto the ball for right now. Thirty to seventeen, Dallas
with four minutes left in the fourth quarter, trying to
make a game of this right now, Buccaneers Saints not
much of a game to all out there, and so
much that I was going to mention something about Spencer Rattler,
but the only thing I really mention is he's benched. Yeah,
(01:10:02):
Tyler Shuck is in. It's uh getting late early there
for Knowlan's well, yeah, at some point you had to
get a look at him.
Speaker 2 (01:10:11):
I don't know if this is the game to do
it in this situation, but I would assume that there
would be a change a passing of the torch when
I Shook will get the get the reps in practice
and maybe be that first team quarterback.
Speaker 9 (01:10:23):
Well, right now, Tyler Shuck is four of nine for
twenty eight yards and one interception.
Speaker 2 (01:10:29):
So the twenty three to three lead by the Buccaneers
is actually worse than what appears because of how bad
the Saints have been exactly.
Speaker 9 (01:10:35):
Yeah, this is this is not probably not the defense
you wanted to start someone like Tyler Schuck against, especially
when big men like Antoine Winfield Junior and Vida ve
are staring you down, looking at you like lunch.
Speaker 3 (01:10:45):
And they know you have to pass the ball. Yeah,
not against right, Yeah, you're not gonna run it right.
Speaker 9 (01:10:50):
Also not competitive coltson Titans. I don't think that's much
of a shocker though. Thirty one seven with about three
minutes ago in the third quarter in this game, Jonathan
Taylor if one hundred and forty nine yards two touchdowns.
Speaker 3 (01:11:03):
So very good so far.
Speaker 9 (01:11:05):
By the way, earlier speaking of running backs, Derrick Henry
moving into fifth place in rushing touchdowns all alone over Walter.
Speaker 1 (01:11:12):
Payton all time.
Speaker 3 (01:11:13):
Sweetness.
Speaker 9 (01:11:15):
Yeah, as the Ravens pick up that win against the
Bears thirty to sixteen.
Speaker 3 (01:11:21):
Earlier in the day.
Speaker 9 (01:11:22):
Now, there's been some interesting news being developed right now
on the situation of one Brian Kelly, head coach of
the LSU Tigers. We previously talked about how it looks
like they're moving towards maybe departing and paying him fifty
four million dollars. Ross Dellinger is also throwing in this
tasty little detail is that while there's no resolution going on,
(01:11:45):
the conversations that are ongoing involves the state governor of
Louisiana involved in this.
Speaker 12 (01:11:51):
Sure.
Speaker 9 (01:11:52):
I mean it is a state school, yes, but still
it's very high level discussions are happening right now about
Brian Kelly and his future on the BIO.
Speaker 3 (01:12:03):
Tough day, in a tough day in Louisiana. What happened
in the early games today?
Speaker 9 (01:12:05):
Chris all Right, Jets, Well, we mentioned the Ravens game
Jets held on thirty nine, thirty eight against the Bengals
to get their first win in the season, justin Fields
after some remarks from Woody the owner Woody Johnson. This
week went twenty one to thirty two, two hundred and
forty four yards, one touchdown. Eagles outscored the Giants thirty
eight to twenty. However, Cam Scataboo, running back for the Giants,
(01:12:27):
that seems to be where a lot of the pain
is coming from a very gruesome injury.
Speaker 3 (01:12:32):
He was taken.
Speaker 9 (01:12:33):
He's at a hospital right now in the Philadelphia area.
But from all looks and amateur opinions, it looks like
his season will probably be done, but we will wait
to see the final result. Patriots Cruz passed the Browns
thirty two to thirteen, and the Texans smacked down the
forty nine Ers twenty six to fifteen. And very quiet
(01:12:54):
day for a lot of tight ends on National tight
End Day, unless your name is Dallas.
Speaker 2 (01:12:58):
GODDARDSS Goddard at it. Yes he did, Thank you very much, Chris. Yes,
it is end Zone Radio on Fox Sports Radio. He's
Carry Roads. I'm Dan Byer. We'll have a look at
some fantasy numbers plus fast times. The carry Roads will
hit close to home for Carrie as we take a
play from today's Jets victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. All right,
(01:13:19):
the Titans are facing a fourth and three. They're in
Colts territory, Carrie, but at the Colts forty five yard
line down thirty one to seven. We'll see what We'll
see what Mike McCoy cam Ward in the Titans cookup
on this fourth down play. Yeah, locking the Forest Buckner
would be a good a good plan. They did not
do so, and I'll turnover on downs that I was
(01:13:42):
trying to build.
Speaker 3 (01:13:43):
It up in the thing, and I know, Dan, I
couldn't wait. I couldn't. I couldn't wait too much longer.
It was just a debacle from the first nap.
Speaker 2 (01:13:49):
I am not blaming you. I'm blaming the Titans. I'm
not giving up their end of the deal. Just cam
Ward didn't have a chance. The Titans really haven't had
a chance much today. Denver's got the football, as Chris
told you, down thirteen or up thirteen on the Cowboys
thirty to seventeen near the end of the third quarter,
and the Saints he as bad as it is. They
are on Buccaneers territory with the first in ten at
(01:14:10):
the forty six yard line, but down twenty playing in
the Superdome. He's carried roads. I'm Dan byer a look
at your fantasy numbers. Next tier on end Zone Radio.
We got three games of this late window, one well
into the third quarter as the Buccaneers are going to
try to add more to their eleven point lead against
the Saints. Just underwear the Titans and Colts in that
AFC South showdown, And as Chris Perfecius told you, up
(01:14:32):
it's been all Broncos today over the Cowboys. Welcome in.
It is end Zone Radio, our insider Adam Kaplan. We'll
be joining us, saying about twenty minutes or so, plus
we respond to all the action in the NFL, including
what happened earlier today. Week eight, a week where we
have six teams on buy. So you wondered on how
(01:14:54):
exciting could things be? Oh, just the Jets getting win
number one with a monstrous fourth ordered a top Joe
Flacco of the Cincinnati Bengals headlining our stories of the day.
Speaker 3 (01:15:04):
Yeah, I don't think it ever disappoints. Right, we can
always find a couple of games that peaks our attention.
Some unknown things happened some while and wacky things happened.
To be down two scores in the fourth quarter and
come back and find a way to win, get two
point conversions and a running back throw a touchdown. That's
pretty exciting. It was a.
Speaker 2 (01:15:22):
Thirty nine to thirty eight win over the Cincinnati Bengals
for the Jets today. Not the highest scoring team of
the day. That would be the Buffalo Bills, a forty
to nine win over the Carolina Panthers. I'm pointing this
out not because of James Cook's performance today nineteen carries,
two hundred and sixteen yards and two touchdowns. I'm pointing
(01:15:43):
it out because of James Cook's performance the last time
the Bill's played.
Speaker 3 (01:15:47):
If we remember the last time we saw.
Speaker 2 (01:15:49):
The Buffalo Bills, it was on Monday night against the
Atlanta Falcons. My how things changed in a span of
two weeks, but it was at that point that the
Buffalo Bills, I don't know, they're trying to find themselves
again on offense, but it just didn't seem like they
were using James Cook how they should have that there
was more and more being put on the shoulders of
(01:16:10):
Josh Allen and so in that loss to Lee Falcons,
James Cook had seventeen carries for eighty seven yards, and
on the surface, doesn't look like that would be anything
different from the nineteen he got this week, or the
fifteen that he got the week prior, the twenty two
that he got prior. But in watching that game, watching
what Bejon Robinson was doing, what others were doing, it
(01:16:32):
just didn't seem like the Bills committed to James Cook
had a bye week, sure seemed to commit to him
today as he was over the two hundred yard mark.
One hundred percent agree. I mean we know that they
are I think devoid of the big super weapons to
go downfield and have the number one guy be a
(01:16:52):
guy that you can just throw the ball to and
get those major plays, and so you have to center
it all around and Cook. Cook is a running back
that I could see having similar stats and similar numbers
as a b John Robinson, as a Jonathan Taylor. I
mean he's in that mix. I mean he's I mean
those guys are a little bit more I mean, Jonathan
(01:17:13):
Taylor's a little bit more proven than those guys. But
those both of those guys are right there, and you
can utilize him that way. Get him to give him
the ball in the past game as well, get him
some screens, get him some some touches as a receiver
as well. And so for them to come out and
do it that way after a crushing loss on Monday night,
it was positive sign for the Bills because they can't
win just relying on Josh Allen.
Speaker 3 (01:17:33):
Does a bye week do you that much good? Like?
Speaker 2 (01:17:37):
Does Buffalo sit there and they take Week seven off
after that that lost to Atlanta? Does that allow you
to recalibrate for the rest of the season. I remember
we saw that happen with the Buccaneers when they had
a late buy and Tom Brady was there and they
ended up going on the run and ultimately winning the
Super Bowl. It seemed like it altered them. Is that
a real thing of recalibrating on a buye?
Speaker 3 (01:17:58):
Yes, if you have the right guy that are the
leaders of that team meaning I'm gonna go I'm a
quote twa here, I meaning everybody, the management, the head coach, like,
all those guys have to be locked lock and step
Dan sol right, Like, if you have those guys that
really take that time to dive into the things we
(01:18:19):
do well, the things we don't do well, and actually
be able to address that in that week. Yes, and
then it also gives you a chance to sit back
and watch other people play football. And I think that's
the other key besides fixing the things that you do
right or wrong. You get to see b John Robinson
get all the touches. You get to see Jonathan Taylor
get all the touches. And so you have a guy
(01:18:39):
that's just like that or close. So you paid this
offseason and try yes, I think that it was. Some
teams may need a buy week ten, some needed week twelve.
I think that the Bills needed a buy week seven. Yeah,
and we look at them as a whole. Don't worry.
Speaker 2 (01:18:54):
I'll give you credit for your pick of New England
against Buffalo on Monday night in Week five, but Buffalo
in the start of the year. When you step back
and look at what the Bills have done and what
they didn't do. We remember Week one where they make
the crazy comeback and they top Baltimore forty one to forty.
(01:19:15):
There are warts when your defense gives up forty points. Yes,
the next week, sorry, they face your Jets and completely
dominate New York. There's not a lot there to go
on because you're just a better football team than the
Jets were. Week three, the game that I was at
in Buffalo, they play the Dolphins on Thursday Night football,
(01:19:36):
and the Dolphins kind of hang around, but it's a win.
You know, you' say, a short week division opponent, you know,
those things happen. The Saints then come to town the
next week and they win by about twelve, but it
wasn't a dominant performance. Saints kind of hung around, but
guess what. The Bills are four and zero. Everybody else
is losing in the AFC. Something we've talked about. The
first month of the year was magnificent for Buffalo. The
(01:19:57):
Chiefs were losing, the Ravens were out of it. It
was an opportunity for Buffalo to seize control. They then
lose on Monday night and against the Falcons it seemed
to be the Josh Allen show. And so now you're
all those first four wins came very easy, but I
didn't think they were great in those wins, and so
this allowed them to at least refresh. And I'm not
(01:20:19):
seeing a win against Carolina as something to write home about.
But if you look at what they did in their
previous games, this is the first time they kicked the
crap out of somebody since Week two. And coming out
of a bye and having James Cook have the day
that he did, I felt was a pretty big deal.
Speaker 3 (01:20:33):
It's a huge deal. And yes, the first four games
there were four no, but me, like you, I didn't
think they were that good yet. I didn't. I just
thought they took advantage of what was put in front
of them. Right, So if you think about we talked
about it earlier, like, this league is a league that
at the end of the day, it's going to be close.
And they had Josh Allen, right, and so they were
(01:20:54):
able to win those four games. The first one in
all actuality, they probably shouldn't have won, right, but they did,
And so you you go with what you have. Therefore, no,
then they get a you know, a rude awakening by
a team in the Falcons that needed to win in
the worst way, and they came out and got to win.
And that's what this league is about. Dan Teams come
(01:21:15):
into certain situations super desperate and in need of a
win or a big moment. And then when you get
in that moment, you have a team that's four and
no thinking, you know, their stuff doesn't think, and you
get that rude awakening and you lose and you go
to four and one. It's the perfect time to go
into the by and exactly what you're saying.
Speaker 2 (01:21:33):
And it was also a team that had four home
games in their first five weeks, did they It was yeah,
and I know that the game was in New Jersey, yes,
But then they didn't leave New York for the first
month of the season, like New York State. Yeah, you know,
that's except to go to New Jersey, right, Like exactly
what did they take the bus, which was again they
(01:21:54):
didn't have to go into the city.
Speaker 3 (01:21:55):
So hey, it worked out.
Speaker 2 (01:21:56):
Maybe it was, but they that's what fell in line
for the Bills, and you could start to you know,
read your own headlines and do that sort of thing,
but it didn't. It didn't happen with the Bills at
least in week eights, and they came out with a
huge win over Carolina. Jonathan Taylor's added again, oh, eighty
yard touchdown run. So after the Titans got the ball,
(01:22:18):
got it in Colt's territory, but couldn't convert to third
and three, they punted it on fourth and four, went
to the end zone.
Speaker 3 (01:22:27):
Colt started on the twenty yard line. The drive one.
Speaker 2 (01:22:29):
Play, eighty hards Jonathan Taylor eighty yard touchdown run.
Speaker 3 (01:22:34):
Colt's up twenty four to seven, And we just talked
about it, Dan, you missed those opportunities in the first
half to keep this game relatively close or even tied
at this moment, and now instead of it being even
if he broke that long run, it's twenty four seventeen
twenty four. It's a different game. And you see the
good teams and teams like the Coats now that are
sending to be a great team come out and take advantage.
(01:22:56):
The team doesn't want to, you know, do their part.
Let's go do our and they come out and do
it right right away. There's also like Cincinnati today. I
felt like at times Cincinnati was scoring too quickly, putting
your defense back out on the field. If you're the Titans,
you just just hang in there. It means the Colts
defense here got two minutes of rest on the sidelines. Yes, right,
(01:23:17):
So if you are get a field, go even if
it's twenty four to ten, to use your scenario, after
this touchdown, the Colts defense now has to go back
out onto the field. Maybe they're a little bit tired,
maybe Tennessee. Then you go down an answer and then
you make it that sort of ball game. But yeah,
those missed opportunities by the Titans of frustrating to say
the least if you're a Titans fan. All right, this
(01:23:40):
is what we've got going on right now in New Orleans.
After the Colts took that twenty four to seven lead
on the Titans in Indianapolis a pass towards midfield, Rashid Shihed,
who fumbled earlier, may have just fumbled again. In a
similar scenario, the Buccaneers had a touchdown taken off the
(01:24:00):
board earlier in the contest, and now this could be
another turnover for the Saints. They're going to say that
he that Shihei did not catch the football in that scenario,
so it's going to remain Saints football. That would have
been a very, very tough turnover to overcome. Now, with
just a minute fifty seven left to go, two minutes
(01:24:21):
to go in the third quarter, fourteen point deficit for
the Saints, that they give the ball back to the
Buccaneers at midfield. By the way, Tyler Shook his into
the game Oh Louisville for Spencer Rattler. This seems to
be a coach's decision.
Speaker 2 (01:24:35):
As Rattler is on the sidelines with a baseball cap on,
not being attended by any medical staff. So right now,
Tyler Shook has replaced Spencer Rattler as the Saints are
down fourteen to Tampa Bay late in the third quarter.
The other game, just underway second half, Broncos up on
the Cowboys by a score off twenty seven to ten.
Coming up next hour, I'm going to give you my
(01:24:55):
conspiracy theories for Week eight. I was going to do
it here, but I do want to talk about baseball
on what's going on tomorrow night. World Series shifts to
Los Angeles and you're starting to get that familiar feel
I always remember growing up in the in watching I
should say growing up because it's in the nineteen nineties,
those cold Yankee playoff games that you get now. With
(01:25:18):
the Dodgers seemingly in the playoffs advancing every year, it's
the cool California Knights feel. The scene shifts to La
with the Dodgers evening up the series at a game apiece.
Should be some fun baseball coming up over the next
three days.
Speaker 3 (01:25:33):
Yeah, I think so. I know a lot of people
didn't have the Blue Jays being a real factor in
as World Series that I've been reading up on, but
I think these Blue Jays are hit a fight, and
they got some guys that can keep this thing close.
Speaker 2 (01:25:46):
So I'm excited to see what happens. I'll tell you
a story you've may have heard it. We know a
lot about Vla Gurero Junior and the headlines where I'm
from in north central Wisconsin. That's where Dalton var Show's
originally from. He's from a town an hour away from
where I live. In our area, there was there were
there were a couple of big name athletes. Talk about
(01:26:08):
my love of the Seahawks and Dave Craig came from
the area. Hall of Fame Center, the late Mike Webster
of the Pittsburgh Steelers from our area, but there weren't
a lot of of of pro athletes Jim Otto Hall
of Famer from that area as well for the for
the Raiders. But when we would go and play Marshfield
High School, they had a display case with Gary Varshow's
(01:26:30):
jersey from the Pittsburgh Pirates. So like, oh wow, they
had they had a high school. You know, there's somebody
went to high school, went and play in the Big League.
And it's meant no disrespect to Gary Varshow, but it
wasn't like a household name, but still it was a
really really big deal. So, and Dalton Varsha has been
on a couple of teams played in Arizona, but now
with with the Blue Jays, So there's a little bit
(01:26:51):
of of I like to see Dalton varshow do well
because of the ties back to the hometown and the
home run that he had in in Game one really
set the tone and then the and then Toronto started
running away with it. But if I am going to
have a dog in the fight, that would maybe be
a reason why I pull for Toronto. Well, you better
watch out. You're in Dodgertown right now. I am fully
aware from all of the I'm trust you. I'm not
(01:27:14):
gonna jump by any bandwagons right now. I'm just saying
during the MLB post season, Strauss Made History is the
first brand ever on the helmets work where built to
perform smart pocket design, real comfort and durability from grit
to glory. Gear up today at Strauss dot com st
ra u Ss dot com. He's carry roads. I'm dan byer.
(01:27:34):
Titans are gonna have to punt it back to the Colts.
Down seventeen, Cowboys down seventeen to the Broncos, but they
are in Denver territory early in the third quarter, and
the Buccaneers continue to lead the Saints by that seven
to three, seventeen to three count coming up next trade
deadlines on the horizon, who could be moved prior to
the trade deadline a week from Tuesday last That to
our insider next here on End Zone Radio, I wish
(01:27:57):
we had close games.
Speaker 4 (01:27:59):
We don't.
Speaker 2 (01:27:59):
We have one that it's about to end in New Orleans,
Tampa putting the finishing touches. As you heard Chris Purfetts
say on the Saints twenty three to three. It's been
all Buccaneers, even a quarterback change in New Orleans. Get
your thoughts on that. I got some conspiracy theories to
tell you about. Dak Prescott's just thrown an interception in
the red zone. So as the Cowboys are trying to
get back into their game against the Broncos, it's not
(01:28:21):
going to happen thirty seven to seventeen. The interception brought
back near midfield. Speaking of interceptions, not that it matters,
but kem wod just threw on in the end zone.
Oh turnover. It was on fourth and goal, Carrol, So
it actually probably hurt the Colts, to be honest with you,
because they were back. The Titans were backed up. Anyway,
they'll get it at the twenty yard line. Six fifty
four to go. Indye, all over Tennessee. Thirty eight to seven,
(01:28:44):
as you heard Chris say.
Speaker 3 (01:28:45):
And that's the crazy part about if you don't actually
watch games, right you look at this game, it's a
thirty one point blowout. Obviously the Colts thaught a better team.
But we talked about like the details of the game, right,
like there are so many plays in this game where
this outcome would be different, and you could say with
a competitive game, and then you look at it, just
(01:29:05):
look at the score, it's like, oh, they got blown
out and it was never close at all. But that's
not true. But when you see it, the final outcome, it.
Speaker 2 (01:29:13):
Is the Tennessee Titans truly carry. I don't want to
say that they were a play away because that's not.
But the point is we thought that there were a
couple of plays that they didn't make that could have
made this game a little bit more competitive. But I
think it's fair to say that this team has played
one quarter of good foot two quarters of good football
(01:29:35):
this year. They played the quarter against Arizona where they
came back and got their win. They also played a
good first quarter against the Patriots. Now, the Titans were
coming off of a bye and coming out and playing
the Colts, today. There really wasn't a good quarter today.
But I would say of the season so far, it's been. Yeah,
(01:29:58):
it's been. They weren't coming off of a bio. It's
my mistake. They have a buy in Week ten. But
it's been two quarters of good football for Tennessee so
far this season.
Speaker 3 (01:30:05):
I was just about to say, well, I guess the
bye week wasn't beneficial for the Titans. I was going
to go there. But I'm glad you clarify things really quickly, Dan,
in the reason I was thinking because of the coaching change.
Speaker 2 (01:30:15):
Yeah, I was thinking of the coaching change and Brian
Callahan being dismissed, but not much has changed to it
with Mike McCoy there Again, Titans were missing Jeffrey Simmons.
But for as great as Jeffrey Simmons is, he's not
thirty one point difference in their game against the Colts.
I'll tell you a difference maker in the NFL today
that we likely lost for the season. Giants running back
Cam Scataboo suffered a gruesome injury. One are those injuries
(01:30:37):
where they aren't replaying it. They're talking about the injury.
They'll show you Skataboo being carted off the field. But
they're not going to replay the gruesomeness of the injury.
I know Shay, our producer, was at the in front
of the screen when it happened, and he gave out
a scream, and he likes that stuff. Yeah, I should
say likes that stuff, but doesn't get queasy about that stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:30:57):
That's what I should say.
Speaker 2 (01:30:59):
But severe injury. And so the Giants lose today, which
isn't a surprise. I like the Egos, especially when they
lost to the Giants the last time. Yeah, so the
Philadelphia Egos without aj Brown today, we're able to get
a big win against the Giants. But what a cost
to the Giants in losing their star running back. This
is what Jackson Dart and Giants head coach Brian Dabole
(01:31:22):
had to say after the game about losing their young
rookie running back to that gruesome injury.
Speaker 11 (01:31:27):
Feel absolutely terrible for the young man, obviously he saw
it look bad. Feel for anybody on your team that
goes down and has a really bad injury. And I
feel and I know the players feel the same way
about Scott.
Speaker 3 (01:31:41):
Yeah, I was devastated. It's my boy man.
Speaker 11 (01:31:44):
So seeing him go down and obviously like reacting to
what happened, and I just that sucks.
Speaker 4 (01:31:51):
It's the worst part of this camp.
Speaker 2 (01:31:54):
And the reports are it's a dislocated ankle. Yeah, which
wouldn't be surprising if you saw the injury. But for
the Giant season that seemed to have so many ups
and downs, but there was hope, there was excitement, and
you have a player in Cam Scatterby that's really liked
by New York and really liked around the NFL. A
tough blow to lose him to the to the injury today.
Speaker 3 (01:32:15):
Man crazy. Two weeks a two week span, we were
saying the Giants got a little momentium, little steam, a
team that now they beat the Eagles. Now we're like, oh,
maybe this team could do something. Even if they didn't
do anything this year, the future looked bright in New
York with Cam's Gotta Moon, Jackson, Dart Malik Neighbors coming back.
(01:32:36):
And in just two weeks they blow a fourth quarterly
where the Denver Broncos scored thirty three points unanswered, and
they come back and win that game, and the next
week you lose your star running back, the one that's
starting to you know, generate some buzz for not only
your team, but you know, for that offense in particularly
where now you have key pieces to move forward with
(01:32:59):
and now he goes with a big, gruesome injury. It's
the life of an NFL player, Dan, It's so up
and down. It's so like you really got to take
advantage of the moment because the moment is really not guaranteed,
and so to see somebody go down like that the
way he did it sucks. And you can see and
hear from the head coach and the players how much
they care about them.
Speaker 2 (01:33:18):
This is the difficulty then of the decision that you're
going to have to make for the Giants moving forward.
This is on the heels of Malague Neighbors being lost
for the season, and now when you're trying to make
a decision on what you do with the front office
with Joe Shane as general manager. What I find interesting
are some of the clips that have come out of
(01:33:41):
Joe Shane. I don't know who puts these clips out
of their Giants fans, but it was the point that
there was the video of the draft day and Joe
Shane making it be known that this was kind of
Brian Daboles pick. Brian Dabele wanted to take Jackson Dart
in the first round, so that would be great for Dabole,
not as much for the general manager.
Speaker 3 (01:34:03):
But they are both kind of tied to the hip, right.
Of course, he was trying to take care of himself
in that situation, wasn't he.
Speaker 2 (01:34:10):
Yes, So now Carrie, you have a scenario where you've
got the Giants without their star wide receiver and star
running back. I also, I think that this is a
part of it. John Marra also announced earlier this year
that he's battling cancer, the co owner of the Giants,
And so there's just a lot going on with New York,
(01:34:32):
and there's been a lot going on in the first
eight weeks of the season. But I don't know how
you can dismiss day Ball at this point, considering the
momentum that you just talked about. If they want to
point to that's the reason why they ended up losing
to Denver last week and I end up making a change,
that's fine, But I guess I think I'd be a
(01:34:52):
bit surprised if they moved off of day Boll for
next season.
Speaker 3 (01:34:57):
I would as well, just by having the key pieces
that they have in place, and seeing that he can
coach them and put them in advantageous situations to succeed.
And so, I mean, they've had so much bad luck
to have bad luck with injuries obviously, kicker kicking bad
bad luck with kickers and missing field goals and all
(01:35:18):
that stuff. But I'm gonna cat I'm gonna throw caution
out there for all Giant fans and for the Giants
organization right now. They have to take care of Jackson Dark.
You're missing your two top standout players on offense at
the receiver position and at the running back position. You
(01:35:39):
have to make sure he doesn't start playing bad football
and not winning football trying to make plays. You have
to stay within whatever you're trying to do. And for him,
I would tell Jackson Dart, do not try to be
superman right now. Right now, get through the season, play well,
do what you have to do. But don't think he
has to go out here and win all these games
by himself, because that would be the recipe for disaster
(01:35:59):
for him and his moving forward. He's carry roads. I'm
dan Byer.
Speaker 2 (01:36:03):
Saints end up falling to the Buccaneers twenty three to three.
That's a final. The Broncos are up twenty on the Cowboys,
and Denver was able to draw a pass interference penalty
against Dallas, so they have it first in goal. Actually
it's now second in goal for Denver at the seven
yard line again, a twenty point lead, seven eighteen to go.
Dallas has two timeouts, not that it matters down twenty,
(01:36:26):
but Sean Payton's throwed the throwing the football on first
and goal and did it again on second ago where
a field goal, by the way puts him up forty
to seventeen. And I know that they scored thirty three unanswered,
yeah or not unanswered, but in the fourth quarter last week,
so there would be reason to maybe still want.
Speaker 3 (01:36:43):
To uh to the board.
Speaker 2 (01:36:47):
But just hand the ball off, take a minute twenty
off the clock, kick a field goal, and go up
twenty three.
Speaker 3 (01:36:51):
That's the sound Peyton thing. I'm telling you. He needs
to He just got a He's a good coach, but
he's just I don't know, it's something about him in
close games I don't really trust. But I was laughing
Dan watching this game. I saw Elam come across the
screen and it just shows my age. I played with
his dad. You're so, you know, I'm old chunk.
Speaker 4 (01:37:18):
I don't know you're.
Speaker 3 (01:37:19):
Laughing at I'll tell you. I'll tell you why we were.
Speaker 2 (01:37:23):
Laughing, because we did a whole We did a whole
show talking about six seven and that.
Speaker 3 (01:37:27):
Is such a it is.
Speaker 2 (01:37:30):
I think we did it, Mary, I think we did
like six seven days ago. I think we did that
shows now. Oh no, So so that's what listen. I'm uncle,
I'm older than all of you. I don't don't get
it twisted. I understand my spot wholeheartedly. Denver continues to
throw and they've thrown a touchdown.
Speaker 11 (01:37:50):
R J.
Speaker 2 (01:37:50):
Harvey from Bonnix. The Titans have the football four minutes
to go. They are driving, but again down thirty one
to the Colts with four minutes to go in Indy.
You want to hear some conspiracy theories, you know. I
want to hear the conspiracy. It's been a crazy week
in the NFL. All right, I've got a few out there.
I'm curious on what you think of, right you ready? Yeah,
here are my NFL conspiracy theories. Yeah, trust me. We
(01:38:16):
just got done talking about the Giants falling to the
Eagles today thirty eight to twenty was the final Yep.
Speaker 3 (01:38:22):
AJ Brown didn't play for Philadelphia. Very ominous.
Speaker 2 (01:38:26):
It was kept out all week and the Eagles now
have a bye and then the trade deadline comes a
week from Tuesday. Do you think the Eagles wanted to
see how they would fare without AJ Brown to determine
if they need him for the stretch run. I think
(01:38:47):
the Eagles kept him out to see how well they
would play today and now we'll shop him leading up to.
Speaker 3 (01:38:53):
The trade deadline. That's a really good one day. I
don't know his what was his stat is this week?
Was he just he didn't practice at all this week?
What was the injury? I think it was a I
think it was.
Speaker 2 (01:39:07):
A knee injury. I'm gonna I'm gonna double check, because
that would be that would be a great last week.
Remember at one hundred over one hundred yards against Minnesota.
Speaker 3 (01:39:17):
Yeah, that would be a great conspiracy, Dan, and I
think there are I think there's some legs to that,
only because I've been seeing reports about teams that are
in the market for a receiver and the number one
guy and if you're not seeing eye with their quarterback
on the team that's winning a thousand games, then you
probably should get shipped out anyway. So I might be
(01:39:38):
on board with the hamstring injury.
Speaker 2 (01:39:40):
He ran, he had one hundred and twenty four yards,
had a hamstring injury.
Speaker 3 (01:39:44):
Dan, I might be on board with you on that one.
And you know what, all right, I love the conspiracy theories.
I like that you're thinking really deeply about something that
could alter the league. So I'm down with that. I
got another one fourth and three.
Speaker 2 (01:39:55):
By the way, Taj Spears gets into the end zone
for the Titans. Thirty six left to go, So that'll
help someone's fantasy team. The a lot of Falcons today
fell at home to the Miami Dolphins thirty four to ten.
Speaker 3 (01:40:07):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (01:40:09):
Michael Pennis Junior didn't play, yep, because of a knee issue.
I had heard earlier on the week that he was
dealing with a foot thing. Now it ears a knee thing.
My conspiracy theories, the Falcons wanted to showcase Kirk Cousins
prior to the trade deadline.
Speaker 3 (01:40:26):
And it backfired today.
Speaker 2 (01:40:29):
Keep Pennix out, Uh huh, showcase Kirk Cousins or do
you think about that?
Speaker 3 (01:40:33):
Conspiracy?
Speaker 2 (01:40:34):
Absolutely freaking not, Dan. The Falcons are teams wanting a quarterback.
Look at what Joe Flacco has done.
Speaker 3 (01:40:42):
Goodness, and now they put all their chips in the
in the basket and put it Cliston in front of
everybody and say he's Kirk Cousins. Here's mid for you
all day. And he came out and played mid. Not
just the Falcons need to win and they're in a
division where now they lost his game. Now there are
two games back. Now, Nah, I don't think. I don't
(01:41:03):
believe that. I'm not on board with that one, Dan.
Speaker 2 (01:41:05):
The Carolina Panthers sat Bryce Young so they could showcase
Andy Dalton prior to the trade deadline. Okay, I actually
don't believe that one. I just needed another one since
you shot down there. I just throwing.
Speaker 3 (01:41:21):
It out there.
Speaker 2 (01:41:21):
No.
Speaker 3 (01:41:21):
I liked them though. It's you're a deep thinker like me, Dan,
So I appreciate the nudge of something that I have
to like really buckle down and think about a little bit.
So thank you the A. J. Brown one to me. Yeah,
it was just like, hmm, all.
Speaker 2 (01:41:36):
Right, doesn't practice all week they have a bye in
week nine.
Speaker 3 (01:41:39):
Sure you don't want to risk anything.
Speaker 2 (01:41:41):
Yeah, but the trade deadline coming up again a week
from Tuesday, Election Day, the trade deadline food for thought.
Thank you very much for that. Thanks to Shaye and
Ricky we put our music bed together just saying.
Speaker 3 (01:41:54):
Very ominous, almost x foul ex foul ish. That might
be what we were doing for.
Speaker 2 (01:42:02):
Joe Milton is into the game for the Dallas Cowboys?
Speaker 3 (01:42:05):
Is their conspiracy here too?
Speaker 2 (01:42:06):
Dan, Well, for those that wanted Dak Prescott to get
any garbage points, there you go, they're not going to
get in.
Speaker 3 (01:42:12):
There you go. Thank you me. I appreciate that, Dan,
What about the Cowboys?
Speaker 2 (01:42:17):
This is the the only highlights I've seen of Joe
Milton is him throwing fastballs to delivery drivers and barstool employees.
Speaker 3 (01:42:24):
Have you seen those? Uhh yeah, there was one? Did
you see the delivery driver one?
Speaker 2 (01:42:29):
Share the barstool one where Joe Milton was somebody tried
to catch a pass from him?
Speaker 3 (01:42:34):
Bad idea.
Speaker 2 (01:42:35):
Okay, yes, By the way, Carry's gonna have fast times
with Carry Rhoads coming up after the break where he
breaks down a play that I don't think should ever
have happened. Harry thinks it's absolute genius. Are the Dodgers
absolutely genius for keeping Yoshinobu Yamamoto in for the entire
game on on Saturday nights, forgetting what day of the
(01:42:59):
week it is in Game two or is that just baseball?
Is Dave Roberts a genius for making that decision? Is
John Schneider non genius? For the Blue Jays for all
the bats didn't wake up? No, none of that is true.
They made the right decision in having Yemamoto can get
the complete game. I thought Gosmin was rolling for a
(01:43:22):
while for the J's. I flipped over to college football.
Flip back and Will Smith's running the bases. Max months,
He's running the bases and it was over last night.
But I think we've now got ourselves a series. I
thought it was funny and how many people jumped off
the Dodger bandwagon after Game one. You shouldn't do that,
especially if you watch the Blue Jays during the ALCS.
(01:43:43):
But for as dominant as LA was, I know that
was a foreg insight to see. So you thought they
were seeing this unstoppable force. The question is does the
series get back to Toronto? Kerry Rhodes, Yes, the series
makes it back to Toronto. Toronto will win one of these
three games? Sure, and give themselves a chance to see
another game and out out the country. Yes, Games three,
(01:44:07):
four and five in LA Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. That would
be a travel day for Thursday, and then games six
and seven scheduled for Friday and Saturday. If you've been
watching the playoffs and the World Series, you've seen that
red Ostrich logo on MLB postseason helmets. That's Strauss trusted
by pros worldwide. Pants bilt like tools, durable, comfortable and
engineered to perform from grit to glory. Gear up at
(01:44:27):
Strauss dot com st r Auss dot com. We told
you Joe Milton's in the game. The Cowboys are in
Broncos territory, but down forty four to seventeen while they're
at the two minute warning in Indianapolis. All cults today
over the Titans thirty eight to fourteen. Carry Rhodes breaks
down the play of Week eight next year on end
Zone Radio on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (01:44:47):
Back to Dan Byer and Carrie Rhoads.
Speaker 2 (01:44:50):
It's end Zone Radio on Fox Sports Radio. He is
the All Pro Final Make Kerrie twenty five roads. You
can find me at Dan Byer on Fox if you're
looking for us X the honeymoon is over. Carry Roads.
Do you want to know what I mean by that?
What's going on?
Speaker 3 (01:45:05):
Dan?
Speaker 2 (01:45:06):
The reason the honeymoon is over is because I feel
that when the NFL comes along, the first month is magnificent.
It's just football is back. The weather is still nice.
Now we're in week eight and the newness of the
NFL is off. It's more of your normal routine weather.
(01:45:27):
It started to turn in some places. And while people
do love that, and some people will love next week
when we change clocks, when by some I mean Carry Roads,
everybody else hates it. But the honeymoon is over. I
feel with what we got in this late window. We're
on a sixteen bye week. We had three games of
this late window. We've seen five starting quarterbacks not finished
(01:45:52):
the game because either they were up by so much
or they were down by so much. The only quarterback
who played the entire game Cam Woard of the tight
but Riley Leonard replaced Daniel Jones because the Colts were
winning by so much. Joe Milton has replaced Dak Prescott
because they've been losing. Garrett Stidham's now in as Denver
has that forty four to twenty four lead at the
two minute warning. It's been yeah, it hasn't been good.
(01:46:16):
Tyler Shook replaces Spencer Rattler for the Saints. Baker Mayfield
was on the sidelines at the end. The Buccaneers didn't
throw any pass. But cam Ward was the only quarterback
that I think played the whole game of these six
teams of this late window.
Speaker 3 (01:46:28):
And cam Moore needed to play every snap that he
can get. All right, now, they're bad and he needs
all the practice he can get on the field, So
I'm glad he did finish. And we had other than that,
we had ninety two touchdowns, so that was pretty pretty
impressive as well.
Speaker 2 (01:46:44):
Well, Woody Johnson didn't want to see his quarterback throw
any passes. Earlier this week, the Jets owner making those
comments about Justin Fields. Then Toad Taylor's got the knee injury,
and what do you know, the Jets surprise and come
out victorious, which leads us to carry.
Speaker 3 (01:47:00):
It wasn't easy.
Speaker 2 (01:47:01):
Jets were down by a couple of scores entering the
fourth quarter, yeah, only to claw all the way back.
And here is what it sounded like late in the
game in Cincinnati on Q one, a four point three
and the Jets radio network.
Speaker 7 (01:47:19):
Two minutes to go in the fourth quarter, first and goal,
Jets at the four yard line of Cincinnati. They need
a touchdown to take the lead, down by six. I
formation and now Ruckert motion's right the lone set back
Brice Hall toss sweep to the right.
Speaker 1 (01:47:36):
Brice Hall, He's gonna throw the ball.
Speaker 12 (01:47:38):
Pump Swans throws back at the ends on it's caught
Liason to the option pass right by Brice.
Speaker 7 (01:47:45):
Hall for a touchdown and the Jets.
Speaker 1 (01:47:48):
Are a point after away from the lead.
Speaker 3 (01:47:51):
Is that with Susan? That is Bob was shoes so good.
He's called a lot of my games from college to
the pro with I know that boys very well.
Speaker 2 (01:47:59):
And that's maybe the extra point got to stop on
defense they needed and get their first win of the year.
Speaker 3 (01:48:05):
How do this game win? He touchdown happen? Man, We
talked about it, and I've talked about it quite lengthy.
When it comes to the Jets, they're never put in
a advantageous situation. This play design actually gave them that
because Cincinnati defense has bad eyes. But as you roll
it there in twelve personnel, snug personnel, they pitch it
(01:48:26):
to the running back on the tall sweep. Everything shows run.
The line doesn't. The line doesn't go downfield, but they don't.
They don't back up in the past pro look either,
so they're selling them run at the zone. Look look there,
the wide receiver slow plays it a little bit, gets
behind the receiver behind the dB. There, Breeze Hall catches
(01:48:46):
the pitch. He puts the pressure on the defense by
running towards the line of scrim is not running with with,
so it looks like he's coming downhill. He holds it
and actually throws the best ball of the day. Dan
He throws a back shoulder to make and Taylor put
a touchdown in the back of the end zone. Jets
get the big score to tie the game up and
kicked the extra point to win the game. Big play,
(01:49:07):
big play for the New York Jets. I argued with
the I argued with the crew because I did. I
thought this throw was atrocious. I thought it was an
awful throw.
Speaker 2 (01:49:15):
It reminds me of what brock Perty did against the
Seahawks in Week one when he threw one up for
grabs in Drigue. Wollen's back was two party and the
Niners scored the game winner. That's exactly what this was.
I mean, Briest Hall faked, pump, faked. No one bought it.
And the reason, one of the reasons is because the
guy didn't turn around.
Speaker 3 (01:49:35):
He was in trail positioned day.
Speaker 2 (01:49:37):
This was an atrocious throw that was bailed out by luck.
Speaker 1 (01:49:44):
You call it.
Speaker 3 (01:49:44):
Look man, look that's a that's a back show in
the throw. Now. The first the thing you said about
the pump is ridiculous, like the fact that he pumped
it and still was able to complete it. It's almost
one of those things where you're like, no, no, no, no, no,
no no yea yea yea yea yea yeah after he
catches it. That's kind of what happens here for Breeze
Hall and Mason Taylor. The extra point was good and
the rest was history. That's Fast Times for Week eight.
Speaker 1 (01:50:06):
That's Fast Time Fast Times with Carrie Rhodes.
Speaker 2 (01:50:10):
Okay, Shay's impartial here. That was that was an atrocious
choice of throwing the football by Breece Hall.
Speaker 3 (01:50:18):
And that's say what's you think? Say? I?
Speaker 13 (01:50:21):
Okay, So I was watching it during it. I was
very surprised that it was even a play call. First off,
second off. I kind of understood it because I guess fields,
I don't know, like what's he gonna do?
Speaker 4 (01:50:32):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (01:50:33):
Like push like Woody Johnson on.
Speaker 13 (01:50:38):
A whatdy Johnson's take it over for I was like
Breece was the hot guy, and Breece was the guy
that was I literally said, Breese won this game for
the Jets. No, it wasn't the defense, it wasn't justin fields,
it wasn't the coach. It was Breece Hall. So I
understood it from that point of view. But it was
like if that, if that didn't become a touchdown, we
(01:50:59):
would right now be talking about that. Yep, it's the
reason they lost the game. Horrible play calling. This isn't
just an issue a quarterback. This is an issue a
coach play calling. So it is something that kind of
worked out for them.
Speaker 3 (01:51:09):
But and you just said something though, it was a
Breeze Hall game, right, so to run the tall sweep
all eyes on Breeze Hall. I didn't even get to
the point where Cincinnati's defense and what they were. They
were in man and man coverage. The guy who had
the guy who caught the ball was looking at Briezel Hall. Yeah,
and left his work for the touchdown, So you know
(01:51:29):
it was a good game plan.
Speaker 2 (01:51:31):
Thing about a test there the breech hall. It's first
in goal at the four yard line. The reason why
I think he threw it was because I can't take
a loss on this because there was pressure coming to him,
Like honestly, he had a lead blocker if if he
wanted to, he maybe could have run, but it was
(01:51:52):
never never designed for him to run. So when he
makes the decision to pass, he's at the ten yard
line and he pumped fake and I think at that
point he realizes, well, we can't be second and goal
from the ten. We can't be doing that, so I
gotta throw this football, which is not the.
Speaker 3 (01:52:09):
Way to think you're gonna throw it. Throw it to
the moon.
Speaker 2 (01:52:13):
You're saying it's a good pass because he back shouldered him.
Speaker 3 (01:52:18):
It's not back shoulder.
Speaker 2 (01:52:19):
In the way that we normally think of a guy
streaking down the field and thinking it's a go route
and you hit him on the back shoulder. It was
a back shoulder out because the defensive back was completely
turned around, so it was his back shoulder, not actually
Mason Taylor's back shoulder, who was standing and was able
to catch the football man.
Speaker 3 (01:52:37):
It could have been a disaster dam but we don't
live and could have then should have hypotheticals. He threw
it a game winning touchdown. They trusted Breathe Hall to
make the play. He made the play crazy and if
he runs, he gets destroyed. So glad something happened there.
Speaker 2 (01:52:51):
Possible and in that scenario, honestly, with a six point game,
what was lost was on the previous possession the Jets
had scored to make it thirty eight to thirty, and
Justin Fields made a heck of a play to try
to get off a pass for the two point conversion.
It was originally ruled short of the end zone. Replay
(01:53:15):
reviewed it said, you know, at the tip of the
football was caught before the player ended up diving into
the field to play from the end zone, so it
was a two point conversion. Then getting that two point
conversion in that scenario allowed them to be within six.
If they don't get it at that point, it's thirty
eight to thirty. The reason I'm bringing it up was
(01:53:37):
not only because of how close it wasn't how this
led to be, but the Jets down thirty eight to
twenty four. Carry are thinking to themselves, how do we
win this game? And so they go for two on
the previous possession to make it the six point game,
to which is we're seeing more and more in the NFL.
(01:53:57):
And even though the review, the review went their way,
which allowed it to be a six point game, where
if they did score again and Cincinnati was not stopping
anybody in the second half, that it allowed the Jets
to have to just kick the extra point to take
the lead. I actually thought there was also too much
time for Joe Flacco on the on the play because
all they needed was a field goal on a fifty seven.
And kudos to the Jets defense for getting two key
(01:54:19):
stops in that fourth quarter because for a while they
were just trading points. So the Jets, for as bad
as I think this throw was, the Jets did a
lot of good things in that fourth quarter to let
them get that first win of the year.
Speaker 3 (01:54:31):
All right, big play, and you just you really said
something there. As far as we talk about it, Dan,
obviously so much emphasis and you know so much I
guess up when it comes to the critical part of
the game happens right here in this situation. But the
stuff that led up to this moment was the stuff
that really won this game. The Jets being down two
(01:54:52):
touchdowns and being not quitting, being able to put points
on the board to kick themselves afloat, or even having
a chance to do that at the end. It was
so much more that happened, So I'm glad you touched
on that.
Speaker 2 (01:55:04):
Yeah, they were down thirty one sixteen entering the fourth
quarter after the Bengals scored early in the fourth quarter.
At one point it was thirty eight to twenty four
with ten minutes to go, and the Jets answered, and
that's when they forced the two Bengals stops to end
up preserving the victory.
Speaker 3 (01:55:19):
He is Carrie Rhodes. I'm Dan Byer.
Speaker 2 (01:55:21):
It's the biggest takeaway that I think we've got from
Week eight, considering how crazy things have been in New
York with the Jets this week. Let's go to the
news desk with more on what happened with New York's
other team and what the heck happened in this late window.
Chris Perfett here giving us the latest. What's going on, Chris, Yes, we.
Speaker 9 (01:55:36):
Got a lot to catch up to before the Packer
the Packers take the field against what looks to be
the Munich Munchausenes. I've never seen these uniforms before. I'm
not familiar.
Speaker 3 (01:55:47):
I thought they went to medieval times. Like this is awful.
They are bad.
Speaker 9 (01:55:51):
Yes, they have like some as you're saying, Dan, the
medieval times. They've got like some sort of like noble
crest on their shoulder as well.
Speaker 3 (01:55:58):
Yes they do. Is that a cat thrown? Right?
Speaker 9 (01:56:02):
Okay, this is kind of a dragon is getting a
lot more literal. It's not just a term for a
deep pass in the NFL? All right, Yes, let's start
with the late as we go back through all of
the NFL action. Joe Milton had a touchdown pass for
the Dallas Cowboys. Dak Prescott did not forty four to
twenty four your final score between the Broncos and the Cowboys.
The Broncos improve to five and two, while Dallas is
(01:56:25):
still a perfect five hundred at three three and one. Yeah,
I love the I love one. We can now now
the three four and one, yeah, three four one. Excuse me,
I have that record. Okay, I'm adequate there and screwed
up that record. Excuse me on that. That's what we're
here for we got to get to the uh yeah.
So Buccaneers cruise passed the Saints twenty three to three.
(01:56:48):
Spencer Rattler replaced by Tyler Schuck in that game, so
we got the wrapping off of another rookie quarterback there.
Colts improved to seven and one over the Titans thirty
eight to four. Seen Jonathan Taylor three touchdowns in this game,
one in receiving two on the ground earlier in the day.
The Jets pick up their first victory of the day
(01:57:09):
thirty nine thirty eight over the Cincinnati Bengals, justin fieldness
game two hundred and forty four yards, one touchdown. The
Dolphins improved to two and six after taking care of
the Falcons thirty four to ten. The Patriots go past
the Browns thirty two to thirteen. The Giants eat some
humble pie against the Eagles thirty eight to twenty, and
(01:57:33):
Cam Scataboo at a Philadelphia hospital waiting for an update
on his status. Bills put a forty burger forty to
nine against the Panthers. Some NBA action as we get around,
some more news out there, just just real quick, why
not a little round ball because Victor Wendniama another huge
day with thirty one points, fourteen rebounds, six blocks as
(01:57:54):
the Spurs beat the Nets one to eighteen to one
oh seven and a forty point game four or Jalen Brown.
In a losing effort for the Boston Celtics, they fall
to the Detroit Pistons one nineteen to one thirteen. Finally,
some sad news for the day, A couple of deaths
out there. Former Jets seven time Pro Bowl center Nick
(01:58:15):
Mangold passed away Saturday night due to complications from kidney disease.
Mangold was forty one years old, and also farewell to
Carol Davis, the first lady of Raider Nation, the former
wife of former owner Al Davis pet who had received
the team after Al's death. She passes away at the age.
Speaker 3 (01:58:35):
Of ninety three.
Speaker 2 (01:58:36):
Oh sad news. Thank you very thank you guys for
that information. Chris, and obviously Nick Mangold was Carrie's teammate
in New York. I encourage people to check out your
Instagram post because you and Nick, back in your playing days,
had a little little throwing contest.
Speaker 3 (01:58:51):
You shared some of that video with me. What was
that all about? We were doing so the matt and
ratings would come out, you know, and all players, we
all wait to have a gripe with it, like they're
never accurate, right if you played defense, just because he
played defense, you can't play offense on the game. So
I played quarterback my whole life. So the whole bit
was how is Nick Mango's accuracy and power better than mine?
(01:59:14):
And so it was fun. It was a funny bit.
And so you know, we had you know, me throwing
the ball really far, him throwing it really short, like
we exaggerated the idea. And even with the accuracy, we
had the little things, the little pockets that you throw through,
and you see me throwing it through the first one.
He's throwing it way on on the on the I
forget the highway, but on a New Jersey turnpike where
I'm throwing it right down the middle. So it was fun.
(01:59:36):
He was game. Obviously he was better, but as far
as what he could do there, but yeah, that was
just at the epitome of him just being game.
Speaker 2 (01:59:44):
And so it was a fun thing. Where can they
find you on Instagram at carry Road? Just carry Carry
Road k e r R Y from those that are

It's ed Zone Radio on Fox Sports Radio. Waiting on
the Packers and Steelers talking about the uniforms.
Speaker 3 (02:00:26):
It's been making all the headlines.
Speaker 2 (02:00:28):
Packers are wearing their whites, not even close to the traditionals,
and the Steelers honoring the nineteen thirty three Steelers or
something like that. Yeah, brown pants, Yeah, the whole deal.
We got our mvpiece from Ricky Herrera. Week eight coming
up here in a little bit. There was some controversy
today in Philadelphia, and while the Egos got a dominating
went over the Giants and the Giants losing running back
(02:00:50):
camp scataboo, the tush push. Yeah, that is back to us,
Mary Mac, back to us.
Speaker 3 (02:00:58):
We're back. Don't worry, we're back.
Speaker 2 (02:01:01):
We're here present the Eagles at a fourth and one
at the Giants ten and a half yard line, and
Philadelphia didn't. They got the first down, but the Giants
were able to force a turnover and it was ruled
that Jalen Hurts his forward progress was stopped when Brian
(02:01:23):
Burns stripped the ball from his grasp. So you're watching
this play, Actually it was Keevon Thibodeau that ended up
stripping him. This is the stuff that makes people mad. Yes,
And so when you're talking about trying to police the
tush push, now, not only are you not calling off sides,
(02:01:44):
you're determining when the play actually ends. And if the
concern is over safety, then whistles will be blown a
lot quicker, right, because you don't want all that action,
which again now again benefits the Philadelphia Eagles. So a
call like this today that went the Eagles way, I
just wonder ultimately next year, if this is discussed again,
(02:02:06):
that this is a play that maybe sways the minds
of other owners in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (02:02:10):
Yeah, I think you have to get I think you
have to eliminate that play this. I know that teams
have to try to find a way to stop it,
but obviously there is no way to stop it when
when you're giving the offense, if it's you can operate
offensively such so Differently, if you have this play and
(02:02:31):
you know you have two downs to get the first down,
it's just it's not cool. And then, like you said,
like right here in this play, if he keeps pushing
them and he's going forward, they're going to allow the
play to keep going. So if that's the case, that's
a strip, that's a turn.
Speaker 2 (02:02:46):
And if Jalen Hurts was short of the line, if
he reached out to try to get the line, I
don't know if they're calling forward progress right, I think
initially maybe they thought. I actually I don't think initially
he got the first down, and I think that's why
the rapt blew the whistle.
Speaker 3 (02:03:01):
I think it's a bad call by the off It's
a back hall.
Speaker 2 (02:03:03):
All right, Let's get some good calls from some of
the best play by play voices in all of the NFL.

in their win over the forty nine ers. Today impossible
to see names in numbers. It was because it's Navy
and it's red and it's blue. With all of the
great calls that we had. I know it's not easy
when you're making those play by play calls when you
can't see the actual numbers on some of the jerseys.
(02:07:02):
Plus the Texans were kind of banged up. There's no
