Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Well, that's right, you heard the man. Is that time
of week. My name is Bernie Friday. We are coming
toy line from the Fox Sports Radio studios here in
Las Vegas. Will take up to three am Pacific, six
am Eastern. This is our annual five hour extravaganza daylight
saving show in our Eastern time zone. The clocks just

(00:26):
flipped the two, which means they were turned back to one,
and in three hours here in the Pacific time zone
where I'm at, the clocks will magically turn from two
back to one and you'll get the extra hour. This
is the fourth year, I think at a row I
have done this and I am here for it. And
what a segue into tonight's show, you know. Perhaps former

(00:53):
Major League Baseball Commissioner A. Bart Giamatti said it best,
said quote, the game is designed to break your heart.
Somebody went home and their heart broken Saturday night, Sunday morning,
depending on where you live. And as you've heard me
say a thousand times, Sports, well they're the greatest reality

(01:14):
show and you can script everything but the ending.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
You know.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
I was fully prepared to begin tonight's monologue by talking
about why it's so hard to win back to back series.
The Blue Jays came home up three games to do,
but that's all water under the bridge. We are still
going to get to that. Because of all the major
American sports leagues, Major League Baseball represents the toughest league
to repeat his champion. And I'll explain why later. But

(01:43):
for the first time in twenty five years. By the way,
I bet you didn't know this. They call it the
Commissioner's Trophy. It's not going anywhere. It will stay in
Los Angeles at least one more year. As the Dodgers
came back to beat the Blue Jays in Game seven
at the Rogers Center Friday night, five to four and
eleven innings, they clinched the World Series Championship. It's their

(02:06):
second straight title, third in the last six years, baseball's
first repeat champions since the two thousand New York Yankees,
who actually won three in a row. Dodgers, who have
been in five to the last nine World Series, three
of the last six playoffs, nine years in a row,
and yes, the first team in back to back twenty

(02:26):
five years, and maybe they have not won but two Unicorns.
Because there are things I will remember about Game seven
that I'll never forget, much like the seventy five series
when Carlton Fisk hit that home run. Yes you remember that.
Maybe that was the greatest World Series. I don't know.
We might get into this in the midnight hour. You
could make a case this might have been the greatest
World series when McGill rohas Remember Dave Roberts made the

(02:49):
snap decision heading into Toronto just to switch things up,
decided to start mcgil rojas in the at second base
in Game six, hits a ninth inning solo home run
to tie the game. The Blue Jays were two outs
away from breaking Champagne his solo homer tied the game.
Then Will Smith's solo homer and the eleven dining gave

(03:12):
the Dodgers their first lead of the game. But what
will I remember most about the series and certainly Game seven?
Yoshinobi Yoshinobu Yamamoto became a legend at postseason legend forget it.
He comes out of the bullpen the day after starting

(03:32):
Game six, records the final eight outs to earn the win.
This is an incredibly legendary performance for any era won
for the Ages and oh by the way. The Blue
Jays failed in their quest to win their third World Series,
and they went back to back World Series in ninety
two to ninety three, so this was not an easy
thing to do. But what Yamamoto did in this World

(03:53):
Series is nothing short of remarkable. He threw a one
run complete game in Game two on the road, and
in Game three, Yamamoto warmed up in the eighteenth inning.
It was going to pitch the nineteenth had the game continued.
Yamamoto then threw six innings of a one run game

(04:14):
with the season on the line Friday night in the
Game six win. That right there put him on the
short list of World Series MVPs. But perhaps could it
be that Yamamoto saved his best for even when it
mattered even more? That's terrible, English saved his best for last.
Let's just say that one day. I've never seen this

(04:38):
one day. After throwing ninety five pitches in Game six,
Yamamoto comes out of the bullpen in Game seven, records
the final eight outs. He enters with runners on first
and second and one out in the ninth. He gets
out of that jam. Then he throws the scoreless tenth inning,
then throws the scoreless eleventh inning, thirty four pitches on

(04:58):
zero day's rest. Just incredible. Add it all up, what
a nine days it's been for Yoshinobu Yamamoto. His eira
accumulatively one point zero two. That's just two earned runs
and seventeen and two thirds innings across two starts and
one massive relief appearance. His seventeen and two thirds are

(05:20):
the most by any pitcher in any postseason round since
Madison Bumgar Garner through twenty one innings in the twenty
fourteen World Series. And yes, very deserving Yamamoto was named
the World Series MVP. But there are other things that
will also remember Dante Bishett, whose knee was so bad
he probably shouldn't have played. There's a chance that Game seven,

(05:46):
did I see Dante Bichet? That was his dad? Oh
my god, I haven't been drinking. I promise there's a chance,
though Bolbashett has played his final game as a Blue Jay.
I'm just saying there's a chance he's going to be
a free agent. But if, if, if he has played
his last game, he went out with a bang. He
went out with a very memorable swing, even if it
came in a loss. He opened up the scoring in

(06:06):
Game seven with a bomb, a three run bomb in
the third inning, and that gave Toronto a three to
zero league shohey Otani, Yes he actually is human, well
not every day, but some days. Actually hung a breaking
ball and Bolbashek, you know, deposited in the second deck.

(06:27):
That rally started with George Springer leadoff single, who also
came back from an injury. When he had that oblique
situation in Game five or checked that Game three, didn't
play in four or five, I thought he was done
for the series. These oblique things can last weeks. So
the Blue Jay has put the leadoff man on base
in each of the first three innings, and that continued

(06:48):
because Vladimir Gerril Junior had an intentional walk as part
of that. But sandwiched in between that, Nathan Lucas had
a sack button a wild pitch that moves spring of
the third and that's what happens. You walk a guy
to get to Bashett and he made them pay three
run Dinger. Give it up to Bolbaschett. He played through
a fairly serious knee injury, had to play at a position.

(07:11):
He suffered it in a collision at home plate about
a month and a half ago, and it was easy
to tell by the way he was running. There were
times Saturday night he couldn't score from second on a single,
He couldn't advance from second to third on a single.
It was it was rough to watch, but he swung
the bat six to nineteen, hit three sixteen, three walks,

(07:33):
then hits the three run dinger in Game seven. So
whatever happens to the rest of his career, he's etched
in you know, Blue Jays fandom for eternity. Now, this
is what I'm always also going to remember. Is it
possible the Dodgers went maybe to the well one too

(07:53):
many times with shoey Otani. He was pitching on two
days rest, and yes, he was touching ninety nine hundred,
one hundred and one. It was pretty evident right away
he didn't have the command he normally has. He was
not himself on the mound. He was all over the
place in the first and second innings, and he escaped
the second innings scoreless only because Bashett couldn't run with

(08:16):
his knee. Bashett couldn't score from second on Ernie Clement's
to watch single. Otani escaped the jam. No far be
it for me to bag on Otani any of these decisions.
These are just things I'll remember. So Otani took the
ball to start the game after two days rest, through
forty three pitches in the first two innings, wild took
a ton of time between innings, which I think the

(08:38):
Blue Jays objected to. But the rules allow the umpire
to give a pitcher extra warm up time if he
ends the previous inning on base or at the plate
or on deck, which actually Otani did in the first
and third innings. But Otani, if I'm being honest, looked
to take a little bit of advantage of the rule.
He spent a long, long time in the dugout between ings.

(08:58):
Do you blame the guy? I mean, my god. But
despite all these situations and roadblocks and red flags, Dave
Roberts sent Otani back out to the moth for the
third inning, and frankly, it backfired. He retired only one
of four batters he faced, and that one was on
a sacrifice bun. So, rather than take the two scoreless
innings and take it home and be happy to be

(09:22):
happy you got it, is it possible the Dodgers got
a little greedy went to the well one too many times,
tried to squeeze a third inning out of Otani. It
could have, it didn't. Fifths and butts were candy and nuts.
We're not going to go down there, but it could
have cost in the World Series. For the record, Otani
was charged with three runs on five minutes and two

(09:43):
walks and two and the third innings in Game seven,
and the Blue Jays tagged him for seven runs and
eight and the third innings in his two World Series starts.
But he showed a Otani and that Game three was
one for the ages. My god, the home runs, the
four for four, you get it, okay, and for you
trivia buffs and gave it up to Will Smith. The

(10:06):
Dodgers knew what they were doing last year. They they
locked him up to a ten year contract, one hundred
and one hundred and forty million, fourteen million year. It
seems like a tremendous bargain. Will Smith, such a clutch player,
such a selfless guy, caught all eighteen innings the other night.
He he had a huge part in the Dodgers winning

(10:28):
this World Series. And the funny line I was going
to get to it's not really funny, believe it or not.
This is the sixth straight World Series championship for someone
named will Smith. Will Smith, the catcher for the Dodgers
won the twenty twenty World Series. Then there's a lefty
reliever named Will Smith who won the twenty one, twenty two,

(10:49):
and twenty three World Series, and Will Smith the catcher
won twenty four and twenty five. But Will Smith the
catcher provided the game winning run with an eleventh inning
solo home were in Game seven on Friday. Look, the
bottom line is all I can say is this. I
will remember Yamamoto, I will remember Bashett, I will remember

(11:11):
Otani and everything he did, and of course I will
remember Will Smith. He caught every single inning of the
World Series, or were a total of seventy three, like
everybody else in the Dodgers. There were times he struggled
at the plate, but what it mattered most and they
needed a clutch hit or they needed contact. He rallied

(11:32):
late to make the impact and he'll forever go down.
You know, as part of this Dodger legend, he never
took an inning off behind the plate. In one Game
seven with an eleventh inning homer. You know what pitchers
and catchers don't report till February twenty fifth. I will
tell you get some rest, Will Smith. They're going to
need you and they're gonna be talking three pete And

(11:52):
why shouldn't they. This team checks every box, whether you're
a fan or not. Give them their due. Finally, you
don't see this often. I'll also remember this about the
World Series. In Game seven, just to add to all
the excitement and craziness, the bench is actually cleared during
Game seven. Specifically, Andre's hymnist. The shortstop for the Blue

(12:13):
Jays was jaw jacking it Justin Robleski, the lefty Dodger reliever,
after taking a fastball to the hand. And you know,
cooler heads prevailed. There's not going to be punches or
anything like that in the World Series. But again, these
are things you don't see. So up next the Dodgers
will have a parade and everybody else in the off
season will be scratching their heads and saying, all right,

(12:35):
what do we do to catch these guys. It's not
going to be easy. And by the way, just so
you know, Yamamoto took less money. Other organizations offered him
the same or more, but he wanted to be a
Dodger for those who complained that the Dodgers bought this
World Series. By the way, be sure to you subscribe

All right, back in the Bernie Frattle Show Fox Sports Radio,
coming live from the Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio Studios.
It's just time. That's welcome it to legend. Been on
my show many times, very popular here in Las Vegas
and nationally, highly respected handicapper and all around great guy.
Bill crack Man Crackenberg Bill, how are you, buddy?

Speaker 6 (14:43):
Hey, Bernie, thanks for having me on.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
Everydy is cool always and follow him by the way
at crack Wins. I have to start with the World Series.
I'm imagining the handle was pretty decent size. Do you
have any inkling and how the books did during the
World Series in total.

Speaker 6 (15:00):
H fine. You asked that because I actually was talking
to one of the bookmakers tonight in town, and I
was surprised at their results. I don't know. I just
guess say, you know, the margins have become so wide, Bernie.
In other words, I first started betting professionally thirty years ago.
Even when when I was a kid growing up back

(15:20):
in back East, you know you had ten ten baseball
lines minus one forty come back dollar thirty. That is
extinct here in Nevada. It's extinct in America in legalized
sports wagering. Actually the more norm now a dollar forty
come back a dollar twenty. They've widened the juice, taken
double out. So it's harder and harder to win, especially

(15:42):
an efficient sport, an efficient line like the World Series,
with so many eyeballs on it. So to hear that
a sports book that I know of that actually lost
money tonight pretty much surprised me. They lost money on
the futures book of the Dodge, couldn't get Toronto money
and actually lost to the game tonight, even which actually

(16:05):
surprised me. I was surprised to hear that a corporation
could lose to When you have a future's book that
is so geared towards a favorite like the Dodgers, you
would think you'd make it appetizing for the other side
unless you want to take a big side or a big,
a big risk, you know. So I was actually surprised
to hear that they that they lost to the game.

(16:28):
And I wouldn't be surprised if that is the same
feeling and not only feeling the same real numbers across
the board sports books across America. I'm thinking there's so
much volume by let's call it the square public that
vet's a team like the Dodgers, big favorite coming out

(16:49):
of winning last year's World Series. So I'm thinking the
books maybe, you know, I got a little bit other
head handed to them, a little bit just hearing that
this one company, like I said, lost to the game.
I'm thinking to myself, well, you know what, I bet
you A lot of people have bet the Dodgers, you know,
in volume I'm talking about you know, guys that are

(17:10):
betting one hundred and two hundred, three hundred and five
hundred dollars in the future. But there's so many people
that have bet that because they're the favorite, even though
they're not even in what they should be. In other words,
that they were, you know, plus four to one, there
were only plus three to one. And you know, the
Dodgers season wins were one hundred and four and a
half this year. Unbelievable a team ever like that. They

(17:33):
were about one oh two when I originally started seeing
one up to one hundred and four and a half wins,
an easy winner for the sports books that people that
bet the over of course lost on that, but the
people like betting the futures more than they like betting
regular season wins over under, So hearing the books got
hurt on the favorite of the Dodgers, you.

Speaker 2 (17:56):
Know, I'm wondering. I'm wondering if part of this was
in game because at one point, I know they have
these win percentage predictors that drive me nuts, But at
one point during the game, the Dodgers had just an
eight and a half percent chance of winning, and I
wonder if somebody jumped on that and got a nice
plus price. I didn't follow it that closed. I don't
do any in game betting. Could that have been possibly

(18:17):
part of the mix?

Speaker 6 (18:19):
It wasn't part of the mix yere because I actually
found out about this during the door in the game,
and that was like maybe the fifth or sixth inning.
But it's funny to say that because I was with
I was with John Orlando. I went and watched the
game with him tonight, and I was with him and
he kept on asking me every few minutes, not something
I normally would watch, but every few minutes, like when

(18:41):
the Dodgers were down with the line, with the line,
with the line, and I was constantly hell, no, no,
plus two and a half, the one, plus three and
a half, the one. And finally as they got late there,
when it was four to two, they were plus six
and a half, even six ninety. Let's it's called seven
to one. You could have took back on the dot.
And I'm sure that's only one way betting going on there.

(19:03):
The public's not laying, you know, eight, seven, eight, nine,
ten to one. They're only betting the Dodgers in that situation.
So I'm sure the live wagering, some of the Joe
public's got a hold of the Dodgers there, But there's
no one, you know, holding a collection bucket off of
the sports books when it comes to live wagering, the
live wagering platform is absolutely I don't want to say

(19:26):
unbeatable because that's that's not right, but it's it's double
hard to beat than it is the pre flop number
of minus one to ten both ways. When you're charging
double the juice on on live wagering, it's very hard
to beat. And most of the public is pretty fickle.

Speaker 7 (19:44):
You know.

Speaker 6 (19:45):
They see a touchdown by a team like Kansas City
at Buffalo or you know, one of the main team,
mainstream teams, and what didn't they say? And I knew
they were going to blow them away? I knew it.
Let me bet it live now, so you know now
of course they're they're going to pay a tax, and
not only in the way of double the juice, but
they're going to pay a tax in the way of
the book makers know which way the public's the public's betting.

(20:07):
So yeah, it's it's live wagering is a really, really
hard to beat, you know. Myself, I focus more on
proposition bets and team totals, maybe some totals and player props.
I stay away from a lot of NFL sides and
especially the NBA sides when you have so many different

(20:29):
factors involved and injuries and lineups and who's playing, and
it's just it's a very hard sport to beat. This
This sports betting is pretty hard to beat. And if
you could beat it, well, they're going to slow you
down and stop you. I've been thrown out of many
sports books. I'm not allowed to play many sports books
right here in Vegas just for doing one thing using

(20:49):
my brain. So I'm going to bet on smaller market
things like you know, w n B A and like
I said, player props and things that I can read,
the Beat Report and things that I can follow my
social social media and me and my team, that's what
we concentrate on. We there's so much information out there,
but it requires work. It requires doing the you know

(21:12):
your due dilligence checking, checking the you know the old
days to be checking the newspapers, but checking the sites
and now the local newspapers online, where the Beat reporters
are and what they're putting down, and make sure you
know which ones to follow and which ones not to
because some of them are bs too. So that takes
the years of doing it and working out the kinks.

Speaker 2 (21:33):
Of course. John Orlando our good buddy John Alndo, the
son of music legend Tony Orlando.

Speaker 8 (21:39):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
You mentioned favorites now last week in the NFL correct
ten favorites covered already Thursday night and eleventh favorite is covered.
Baltimore beat Miami on the road. There are eight roads
favorites this week. I want to go over a handful
of these NFL games with you to get your take. Okay,

(22:00):
I want to start out with a short road favorite.
The Colts lay in three and a half at Pittsburgh. Look, Indiana,
I believe is for real or in Indianapolis. They lead
the NFL in scrimmage yards, rush yards, touchdowns points. Five
of their wins will have come against losing teams. Meanwhile,

(22:20):
the Steelers have allowed the most passing yards in Pittsburgh's
thirtieth in the league in total defense, lasting past defense.
Your thoughts on Indianapolis? Do they keep it going at
Pittsburgh Sunday?

Speaker 6 (22:31):
Yeah? And you know what you said that about the
favorites winning. I didn't check this. I did in fact
check this. It's fairly easy to do, but I didn't.
I was told they went my if you bet favorite
and over last week you went twenty wins and two losses. Wow,
I mean the books had to get you literally, maybe
get their head handed to him for their first time.
But I didn't hear really nobody crying them. Maybe that

(22:54):
Cincinnati game, maybe some of the teasers didn't get there.
I don't know, just I didn't hear no one crying
around town. Usually the books will will cry a little
bit when that happens. But then again, they've been making
so much money throughout this year. But let's look at
this week. Indianapolis Pittsburgh opened up two, two and a
half and up to three and a half, which of

(23:15):
course crosses the key number of three. You said something
good there, Indianapolis. Boy. Every week I want to say,
are they for real? As I google, I'm pretty sure
there's seven and one, But yes, so there's seven. Not
only they seven and one, they lead to South the
jack Warser second place four and three, followed by the

(23:36):
Texans three and four, Titans one and seven. I mean,
are the Colts for real? They just maybe for real?
You know, it's just every week the public doubts them.
Finally they're they're a little bit now, they're they're favoring
on the road here and then they got some some
backing them up to minus three and a half. But
I can't lay down on the road. I'm not that

(23:58):
much of a Pittsburgh fan, and I actually had Pittsburgh
one of the rare sides I had last week. I
had a great line at a plus with three and
a half when the market was like two and a
half or three the most. I had three and a
half on Pittsburgh and they played a good first hast
let me down on the second half. First Green Bay.
I'm just never sold by this team. But you know,
with a three and a half points at home, probably

(24:21):
a good spot to look at Pittsburgh. But then again,
even though I say that, this Indianapolis team never ceases
to amaze me, amaze me. So I won't have a
play on this game, but if anything I forced to,
I would have a I would take the points.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
Yeah, I'm not involved in the game. Pittsburgh scares me though,
losing two in a row and their lasted total defense.
Talk about a line green Bay land thirteen and a half,
But this is a weird year Carolina. Bryce Young returns
Green Bay three and zero at Lambell Fielder averaging twenty
seven points a game, but Carolina is looking for their

(24:57):
best start since twenty nine, since twenty nineteen. When they
start five and four, how the hell do you lay
thirteen and a half there? But at the same time,
you know, you may look up and the damn game,
you know, maybe thirty to seven in the fourth quarter.
Your thoughts on that game.

Speaker 9 (25:15):
Yeah, don't.

Speaker 6 (25:16):
I don't get this Carolina team. I really don't even know.
They're four and four and having the best year that
I remember in a long time. They beat the Dolphins,
then they go and they beat the Cowboys next week,
to come out and beat the Jets and then get
destroyed by the Bills, which I guess they're supposed to
get destroyed by the Bills, but I mean, they really

(25:36):
got destroyed forty to nine. And you know, you look
at them this week and again you say, wow, it
just seems like a ton of points versus Green Bay,
who's probably in a position to maybe even overlook a
game like this when they're that big of a favorite.
This game opened up ten and a half, quickly went
up to twelve and a half, thirteen. There's even some

(25:57):
thirteen and a half on my screen here in front
of me. I can never lay double digits in the NFL.
I have never in my life ever ever laid double
digits in the NFL on a favorite, whether it's home, away,
anything like that. At all. Years ago, you would be
able to take a thirteen well excuse me, a twelve

(26:20):
and a half point favorite and have a ten point teaser,
which was decent odds and it was a big, big
money maker for the public. And they've since, of course,
jacked up the juice on these teasers. There's not a
place in this town that teasers are beatable now. As
a matter of fact, I'll even say the nation. There's
not a place in the nation or with the legal

(26:41):
sports book that teasers are beatable because the juice went
up so much on these three point seven and ten
point teasers, six point teasers. So I don't even look
at that in this game. I can't lay the points.
If anything, again, I would take the points there at Carolina,
but it just matters what team shows up, matters what
Carolina team is going to show up, and it matters

(27:03):
if Green Bay is going to overlook this game as
a simple w Again, never ever in my life, and
what I ever lay double digits with any NFL team.

Speaker 2 (27:16):
I couldn't agree more. All right, we're talking with Bill
Crackman and Krackenberger. Let's jump to a game that will
probably end up being the game of the day, at
least as being build as at the Chiefs are at
Buffalo lay in a short number. Since twenty twenty, the
Bills are four and one versus the Chiefs in the
regular season, but they struggle against him in the postseason.
Interestingly enough, these they are both perennial division champions, but

(27:38):
they enter Sunday's game with neither one in first place.
It looks like the Chiefs offense is rolling right now
because they got Recidi Rice sixteen receptions in the last
couple of games, three touchdowns, but Buffalo's tough at home.
Your thoughts on Buffalo Kansas City crack Well, now.

Speaker 6 (27:56):
Now you're in my wheelhouse. The only NFL game that
I bet a side on this week is the Kansas
City Chiefs. So I have bet the Chiefs. Look at
the money line here in town minus one twenty five
minus one thirty. It is the money line here in town.
And listen, Chiefs are five and three, but yet they're

(28:18):
they're you know, they have the charge They're in a
tough AFC West. The Chargers are five and three, the
Broncos are six and two. So that the Chiefs really,
even though they are rolling along now as we can see,
they handle handle the Commander is really good and shut
out the Raiders. I mean, the Lions victory was a
big one a couple of weeks back when they beat
the Lions pretty handily, because you know, for the previous

(28:40):
couple of weeks it's kind of a little bit scary
for them. Well, they only lost the one game to
the Jaguars, but they lost to Jacksonville. They lost the
Eagles early in the season. Chargers they opened up, they
losing their Chargers opening day, so they had a couple
of losses there. They had a rebound from they have.
They're really the probably the hottest team in the NFL
right now. Well i mean, of course maybe the Cults

(29:03):
are hotter, but I'm just saying the Chiefs really are
rolling along like we expected send them two all year.
And then you look on the other side of the
ball there you look at Buffalo, and of course Buffalo
is also you know, they're the teams that listen. There
was two teams this year the wise guys picked to
win the Super Bowl. Buffalo Bills was one of the
highest bets, one of the one of the bigger bets

(29:24):
in town. I know, if one of the syndicate groups
butt Buffalo, that group also bet the Ravens, which they're
kind of going to be out of that though. So
you know, this is another one of those games. Now.
You look, Buffalo just came off a big victory on
the road. I almost don't want to count that Carolina game.
But the week before that, I watched that game prime time.

(29:45):
The Soutains beat them by by by you know, ten points.
You know. The week before that, again, Buffalo lost that
home to the Patriots. So you don't know what team
is going to show up here. And it's just it's
you know, you see that big victory last week by
thirty one points, and you say, oh my god, Buffalo, Yeah,
we knew that. They're great. They're great. Well, I want

(30:06):
to tell you something, I don't think they're that super
Bowl team. Yes, they are very I love the quarterback,
love the team, but I just don't think they're going
to be that team that gets to the super Bowl
this year again. And I think Mahomes was rolling along here.
I bet them on the money line. It seems like
that kid is just he's a superstar man. He always
even though last year he did not look good in

(30:27):
the super Bowl versus Eagles, I think he has the experience.
And even though they are on the road here, I
just think that I think Kansas City gets the job
done and instead of laying the points, very rare that
I'll go to lay double the juice or triple the
juice on the money line, but I did lay the
dollar on a quarter on the money line. I just
think even though it's one or two, is not valuable

(30:50):
those points with analytics that come into the game and
teams that are going for two, and also teams that,
let's face it, a lot of times you're on the road,
you just want to get out with a victory. Sometimes
you'll actually kick, you know, instead of kicking the extra
point to tie the game once a while, you vote
for the victory and just take the victory. And if
they went by one, I don't want to be laying

(31:11):
too when I could have had the money line. So
I want to say Kansas City in this matchup. But
then again, Bernie, make sure that people know out there listening.
I'll have five times more money on it NFL player
proposition bet than I will even this Kansas City Chiefs, and.

Speaker 2 (31:27):
I surely know that. Crack. I appreciate you coming on.
I know you're signing on just in a few hours
here again with your Sunday morning countdown to kickoff show.
And at least you get an extra hour sleep tonight.

Get your phone, get your fingers ready. Eight seven seven
nine nine six six three six nine eight seven seven
ninety nine on Fox. We are twenty minutes away from

(32:51):
the midnight hour. From where I sit, it's actually twelve midnight,
literally on the clock, and from where you are, certainly
figuratively and perhaps literally figured ly meeting you get the
last word. Some good topics tonight. Yes, we're gonna get
into the World Series, so be ready to go. I'm
really looking forward to some thoughts that people have tonight.
As always, it's the callers that make the segment, and

(33:13):
it starts in about nineteen minutes the midnight hour. I'll
set up the topics next. I'm Bernie Fraddle. We're coming
to you live from Las Vegas, Fox Sports Radio Studios.
Don't go away. You're listening to the Bernie Frattle Show
on Fox Sports Radio. All right, back on the Bernie
Frattle Show, Fox Sports Radio, thirteen minutes away from the
midnight hour eight seven seven nine ninety six six three

(33:33):
six nine eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. I
want to hear from you three topics tonight. The World
Series just wrapped up a couple of hours ago, went
seven games. All right, hear me out. Could you make
a case this was the greatest World Series of all time?
And when you consider whether or not it's the greatest
World series, and of course it's subjective, but there has

(33:56):
to be overall serious competitiveness, which there was that in
my Dosa's year. Historical significance, this is the first time
the Dodgers a team is repeated in twenty five years.
Dodgers did it. And oh, by the way, there was
a lot of drama, a lot of drama. I know
that people might say the Cardinals Rangers, Rangers are one

(34:17):
strike away in twenty eleven. I believe that was the
greatest World Series. I don't know. You're always gonna hear
the nineteen seventy five World Series between the Big Red
Machine Reds and the Boston Red Sox, especially because of
Carlton Fisks legendary home runs in the movie Goodwill Hunting.

Speaker 6 (34:35):
It was.

Speaker 2 (34:36):
You know, we just had the fifty year anniversary of
that and the Reds came back in won Game seven,
that forced the game seven. So the seventy five series,
how about the eighty six series? The ball goes through
Buckner's legs. It looked like the Red Sox had its set.
By the way. The Dodgers seventy eight series with the
Yancas was also extremely memorable. And let's not forget the
legendary nineteen ninety one World Series between Minnesota and Atlanta.

(34:59):
It went seven games as well, high drama baseball. It's
frequently mentioned and listed because every game was closely contested
and you know, lots of high drama baseball. So could
you make a case that this was the greatest World Series? Yes?
Or no? But here's the other thing I want to add.

(35:20):
This is part B. You will not hear me say this,
but some people might say the Dodgers didn't win. By
the way, get the Dodgers' top credit. So for those
who listened selectively or faded it out. I'm giving the
Dodgers top credit for what they did, but there are
going to be those who believe maybe the Blue Jays

(35:40):
lost the series more than the Dodgers won the series.
Consider this, After winning Game one at home, they didn't
win a game at home the rest of the series.
They lost three of the four home games. Now, Game
three was epic, six hours and thirty nine minutes worth.
Game three, you had a situation where the Blue Jays

(36:00):
had five chances to win it, and oh, by the way,
including when Nathan Lukes, who's a terrific player, clearly swung
in ball four and Clayton Kershew came in through a
curveball that got away. It was very low and a
wait he grounded out. I know he didn't want to
get caught with a bat on his shoulders, but that
would have walked the time run in. It's likely the
blue Jays might have prevailed. They came back at one

(36:22):
the next two. By the way, the blue Jays left
forty one men on base Between the three losses Game three,
the eighteen inning game, and then Game six and seven.
The blue Jays left a total of twenty two men
on base, constantly getting the bases loaded. Situations you get
a man to third with nobody out, there's eleven ways

(36:43):
of scoring without getting hit. Blue Jays couldn't get it done.
Could you make a case that the Blue Jays lost
this series more than the Dodgers won it? Again, that's
not the case I make. But you might have noticed
on Twitter, our good buddy Rob Parker said the Dodgers
should be in the North Pool, not Downtown LA, since
the Blue Jays gave them an early Christmas present gift trap.

(37:05):
If you will, I'm not gonna be dismissive of that.
There's merit to what he's saying. Now the Dodgers, listen,
there's an old saying in life, be there at the
right place, at the right time. But I had a
comment of that, and do something about it. So you
have to get the Dodgers credit for do something about
doing something about it, which they repeatedly did in Games three, six,

(37:27):
and seven when they were a bit up against it.
But be that as they may. You can't tell the
whole story if we're gonna be honest without acknowledging that
the Blue Jays there were some contributory negligence on their part.
It's gonna be a long winner for them. When you're
two hours away at home and you've led the game
for basically most of the game, boy, you know it's

(37:49):
gonna be a long winner. So question one is this
possibly the greatest World Series of all time? And again,
I get it, it's subjective, all right, based on your thoughts,
and I've listened to some others A seventy five, the
eighty six series, the seventy eight series, ninety one Minnesota
Atlanta Course twenty eleven you had the Cardinals and the

(38:11):
Rangers as well. Part B, is it possible the Blue
Jays lost it more than the Dodgers winning it? Question
three is abute. I expect to hear some real comments
on this one. The NBA season is well underway, and
we'll be talking about this with Mark Medina at one
am Pacific time. You've got a situation where lebron seems

(38:37):
very conspicuously absent, very conspicuously absent, worzy. He got ripped
by Craig Carton, national radio host. Here's what he said.
Quote Lebron as allows the teammate he did not travel
to Minnesota to watch the Lakers without him and Luca Well,

(38:57):
he had no problem going to the Dodger game, and
that before because Big Show Bob. The reason Lebron is
not playing is because his feelings are hurt. Lebron does
not have siatica whoa. You will never hear me, nor
have I ever in my ears twenty what thirty years
in radio question an injury because I don't know, I
don't know paying thresholds and I don't know. You know,

(39:19):
you will never question that Satika is serious. So I'm
not gonna question that. This is what Krek Carton said.
But he went to the Dodger game, didn't look like
he had. Satika called him allows the teammate. Other very
reputable reporters have indicated that Lebron's situation with the Lakers
is uncertain and that it's been intimated that maybe he'll

(39:41):
look for the door as the season goes on if
it doesn't look like the Lakers are gonna contend. I
don't know what they're gonna do. I told Mark Ndie,
I think they're gonna be forty two and forty this year.
That's the way. That's just the way I see it.
They're competing, they play hard, but it just it doesn't
look like it's gonna It doesn't look good to me.
So I want to hear your thoughts on Lebron. Did
Craig Carton's comments have merritt? How do you feel about

(40:02):
what's going on with Lebron?

Speaker 9 (40:03):
So?

Speaker 2 (40:04):
Question one? Can you make a case this is the
greatest World Series of all time? Question two? Did the
Blue Jays blow to the Dodgers win it? Question three?
What's going on with Lebron? Is his situation with the
Lakers and future with the Lakers uncertain? Or do you
think he's running some kind of game? Why has he
been absent? If the feelings hurt? And Craig Carton said,
he's allows your teammate eight seven seven nine nine six

(40:26):
sixty three, sixth nine, it's the bed night hour, dial
him up. You're listening to the Bernie Frattle Show Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (40:33):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (40:37):
That's right, you heard the man. The Bernie Fraddle Show
rolls right along. Coming to your line from the Fox
Sports Radio studios here in Las Vegas are an annual
five hour daylight savings extravaganza. All right, look, we've got
a rocket spend that hour. I'm looking forward to this
full lines are lighting up. We're gonna get right to
you in about two seconds. Again, Topic one, could you

(41:01):
make a case this is the greatest World Series ever? Yes,
it's subjective, but based on the competitiveness, the high drama,
the historical significance, he had all those things. I mean,
you had a game seven, just go extra innings, Okay,
you saw everything to happen? Yes or no? Could you
make that case? Part B? Did the Blue Jays based
on all the reasons I gave you leaving forty one

(41:23):
men on base in the last three losses? You had
the situation with Addison Barker, you had the situation with
Nathan Luke swinging at Kershaw's ball.

Speaker 6 (41:30):
Four?

Speaker 2 (41:31):
Did they perhaps perhaps lose this series more than the
Dodgers won? And then finally, Lebron is he allows even
teammate like Kreik Carton says, and what's going on? He
seems very absent and according to reputable reporters, his future
with the Lakers is uncertain. Whatever that means. What's going
on with Lebron? It's time for the Minute Hour and

(41:54):
Carlin Vegas leads us off today welcome in, Kyle. What
do you got, buddy?

Speaker 10 (41:58):
Oh, I wasn't going on already, tired of seeing this
blue and white flags all flying around with these Dodgers
on it. I'm sorry. We live in Las Vegas, California.
Now all of a sudden, No to me, honestly, no,
I don't think that this is the most historical. They
do something that hasn't been done quite some time. Yes, repeating,

(42:20):
give them all the kudos in the world. The second
part of that question that you had is a little
kind of twenty fourteen Russell westbrookish, where did you guys
lose this series? Or did they win this? And it's like, what,
come on, man? They go out there and try to
play the game as far as they can at all,

(42:41):
at all levels.

Speaker 9 (42:41):
Of the sport.

Speaker 2 (42:42):
So well, you know the hold that thought, Kyle, because
it's not my position. I get the Dodgers credit top credit. Yeah,
then what you needed to do. But you know, there
are those folks out there, and I read one tweet
from a prominent guy who believes just the opposite. That's
why I think it's a conversation.

Speaker 10 (43:00):
Yeah, no, obviously, so you know, and it's a good question.
But the thing about it is the.

Speaker 3 (43:06):
Dodgers just had they just had that night.

Speaker 10 (43:09):
You know, the baseball gods they looked out for them.
They came through with a win. The most historical World Series,
in my personal opinion, which I'm biased, is the Chicago
Cubs twenty sixteen winning the World Series for one hundred years.

Speaker 2 (43:25):
Fair, you know, because it's significant. But I don't know
if it was the greatest World Series. I'm talking about
the greatest based on drama and all the things that
go along with it.

Speaker 10 (43:35):
You know, that's true. That is very true. And to
answer part two to your other question, same I heard
the same similar things, but it was when Lebron comes back,
how does the flow of the offense turn out. We
have Austin Reeves who's having a coming out party. Hey,
I want to show you guys that I can be

(43:57):
a dominant two, maybe even that better first option. Let
Luca come off the ball. When Lebron gets in the
game or gets back from whatever illness, injury cycle drama
that he likes to pull. Every year, it's something new,
whether it's during the beginning of the season, right around Christmas,

(44:17):
right around the trade deadline. He always has some foolery
that has to be said. So do I think he
allows a teammate. Yes, I think that the offense is
going to become stagnant once he comes back in.

Speaker 9 (44:29):
Yes.

Speaker 10 (44:29):
The real drama, though, is why is it taking so
long to get a real diagnosis. I get Yatika has
nothing to play with. I have it, and like you said,
you can't judge another man's illness based upon what reports say.
But until we get some type of real confirmation, no,
I don't buy it. I think he's just being very

(44:52):
I don't know if I'm allowed to say this from
the air, piss poor with the decision making that he's
coming out with lately, it's been really reg Caunless. You
got your son dropped at fifty five, got on the team.

Speaker 11 (45:03):
He's trash.

Speaker 10 (45:04):
You gave all.

Speaker 7 (45:05):
These good all these great players.

Speaker 10 (45:07):
Around you, and yet you can't seem to ever win.
Everything is always an excuse, Bernie, as always, brother, I
love the show. I want to hear the other callers
in their opinions as well. You guys have an awesome
night and go Cubs, go Bulls five and oh.

Speaker 2 (45:22):
How about that we'll talk to Mark Medina at one.
I am about that all right, Kyle starts us off strong. Steven,
Kansas City, Welcome in, Steve.

Speaker 6 (45:29):
Oh, Bernie.

Speaker 2 (45:31):
One a night.

Speaker 11 (45:32):
It's always a good night to dissect the Dodgers. Listen,
I think we can throw out the Cubs and the
Red Sox, you know, ending one hundred year drafts. I
think this is definitely the greatest series since in terms
of drama and and what the criteria the two identified

(45:52):
it since Rangers, yeah, and.

Speaker 2 (45:55):
Cardinals competitiveness and historical significance. You put you together, and
we had plenty of Yeah, go ahead, Well I.

Speaker 11 (46:02):
Would I would just make the point. I agree with
most of the panel on Baseball tonight in the post
game show that said the best team did not win
this World Series. The most talented team might have won,
and they're very they're they're very they're not very consistent. Uh,
the better team was the Blue Jays. And no one

(46:24):
can dispute that. No one with the brain can dispute
that the Toronto Blue Jays were outstanding. And it's it's
a shame there had to be a loser.

Speaker 6 (46:33):
But the this this series.

Speaker 11 (46:35):
Historically may be remembered for identifying the Dodgers the weaknesses
of the Dodgers. Normally, when the Chicago Bulls have a
or the Kansas City Chiefs have a dynasty, you know,
it's pretty it's pretty knowledge they're the best. This this
Dodgers team is winning in spite they have so much

(46:55):
money and so much talent and Dave Robert, in spite
of their manager, in spite of their bad hitting, in
spite of their bullpen. They're they're they're doing They're winning
world championships because because of the fact that they just
lay out so many guys, eventually somebody is.

Speaker 7 (47:14):
Going to do something.

Speaker 11 (47:15):
So that's what I find interesting that that most of
the baseball I mean, it's just shocking to see baseball media.

Speaker 6 (47:23):
After on a big on the biggest.

Speaker 11 (47:25):
Sports one of the biggest sports networks, Jessica Mendoza is
saying that the better team did not did not win tonight.
Everyone knows, all.

Speaker 2 (47:33):
Right, So you feel the you kind of answered part
B the question because I want to make sure I
get to all the callers. Part B. You feel the
Blue Jays may have lost it where the Dodgers wanted.
I want to put work at your mouth, but that's
what I'm feeling.

Speaker 11 (47:44):
Oh absolutely, And I think a lot of fans will
definitely agree that. I can respect the fact that the
Dodgers are are talented and that they have a lot
of money, but that doesn't mean we have to declare
them the greatest. I only believe that Toronto was the
essence of a like the Kansas City Royals in twenty fifteen,

(48:08):
or pick one of your recent champions who were a team.
And this issue about Carton and Lebron, I'm I'm a
you know, I'm not a I'm not a big Lebron guy,
but listen to Carton's Carton's off the reservation here. Lebron's
obviously has an injury. You know, He's not gonna help

(48:30):
anybody watching a game in Minnesota. So so so Lebron
gets a break on this one. I'm hard on Lebron,
but he let him watch a ballgame in peace without
without the Carton getting all over him. So God, God
bless the Blue Jays. They did great, they did it.
A shame someone had to lose. It was a fantastic

(48:52):
World Series and the Dodgers. The Dodgers. I can root
against them for many years to come.

Speaker 7 (48:58):
It'll be fun.

Speaker 2 (48:59):
Thank you, appreciated man John in California. You are up next.
What have you got Bernie good? Good sir? How are you?

Speaker 6 (49:08):
Oh?

Speaker 12 (49:08):
I'm doing right right. When I tuned in, the first
first thing I heard you say was did the Dodgers
winner of the Blue Jays loose?

Speaker 6 (49:16):
Did I You.

Speaker 12 (49:17):
Know, I think the Dodgers bought it.

Speaker 9 (49:21):
That's how I always feel about the Dodgers.

Speaker 12 (49:22):
They bought a world series for the money that they
put out for one thing. But you know, I find
it kind of ironic that that with all the money
that they spend, some little second baseman from nowhere that
nobody expected.

Speaker 6 (49:37):
You can call me the MVP.

Speaker 12 (49:38):
I mean, your Moto did everything he did, but I
mean for drying out loud without that kid from second base.
We're not talking right now about this.

Speaker 2 (49:46):
All right, what I'm getting at though? Fair enough? Do
you think this was the greatest World Series of all time?
And I know it's entirely subjective.

Speaker 12 (49:55):
You know, to watch, Yeah, in recent history, I've watched
a lot of world series, but yeah, one of the
most exciting I've ever watched. I'm a diehard Dodger hater,
and I was praying with everything I had that they
were gonna lose.

Speaker 9 (50:09):
But they pulled it off.

Speaker 12 (50:11):
But yeah, it was one of the most exciting I've
ever seen. And I mean it was only a half
inch away at home plate. You know when that kid
threw him out from second base from there.

Speaker 2 (50:20):
Was so many I mean, how about Game six where
a ground real double wedges in the wall. All let's
junsle Lebron. I got to get to all the callers.
John is Lebron a bad teammate like Craig Cark, Carton says,
and he's he you know, you got designs on getting
out of the out of l A.

Speaker 12 (50:36):
You know what Now, I'd say, yeah, back in the day,
see was you know, everybody was diving to be his teammate.

Speaker 6 (50:44):
So you can take that way.

Speaker 2 (50:47):
Yeah, yeah, all right, appreciate it. John, don't be a
stranger to our show. Bryce in Texas, welcome back. What
have you got?

Speaker 9 (50:56):
Man?

Speaker 7 (50:56):
This has to go down.

Speaker 13 (50:57):
This one of the top three World series. That's not
the only thing I could compare this to. I m
akin City Royals fans that twenty fourteen World Series reminded
me just as like this one. I felt like I
was really living it for just I mean, you made
the comparison earlier Yammoto did exactly what mess bum Narner
came out and did to us back in twenty fourteen.

Speaker 2 (51:17):
That's right.

Speaker 13 (51:18):
Yeah, the guy before me mentioned the Rojas hitting a
getting that bass hit or the home run that tied
the game, and yeah, he's right, like he deserves credit.
But nobody talks about Mike Morris hitting targetting Darby I
in Game seven to win the World Series for the Giants. Y'all,
Moamoto will go down as the one that won this game.

Speaker 2 (51:39):
All right? All right? Did Blue Jays lose it more
than the Dodgers won it? Again, not my deal, but
we've had people intimate.

Speaker 13 (51:45):
That absolutely not. Okay, the Dodgers played probably this Game
seven and the Game three that went eighteen innings like
that was swallless, swallless baseball. And every time the Dodgers
met stuff, Toronto took advantage of them. Every single time
Dodgers had to play probably the perfect game in order

(52:07):
to beat Toronto.

Speaker 6 (52:07):
They didn't lose.

Speaker 3 (52:09):
Barn didn't lose this.

Speaker 6 (52:11):
Dodgers definitely wanted.

Speaker 2 (52:12):
That, all right. Finally, Lebron James, reputable reporters have intimated
he might be looking for the exit. I don't know
if that's true. Danny Creig cart And called him a
lousy teammate. Whe are you wighing on Lebron.

Speaker 13 (52:26):
I think he really does have a paint invite, but
I don't think it's Byantica. I think it's called Autin
Reeves and Luca Donnage like from to sit behind those
two guys, and.

Speaker 6 (52:37):
What's so bad?

Speaker 2 (52:38):
That's what Carton said, all right, as always, strong stuff. Bryce,
appreciate you, all right, folks, Tony in Miami, John and Georgia,
Jim in Massachusetts, Alan Saint Louis, Danny and Toronto, good Toronto.

All right back on the Bernie Frattles Show. The mid
that hour continues, we go out to Miami, Tony, welcome
back in. How are you? What do you got Bud, Bernie?

Speaker 3 (53:33):
What's happening? Man? It was an exciting night.

Speaker 14 (53:36):
And this is somebody I'm just telling you right now, I.

Speaker 3 (53:39):
Have not watched a baseball game, and well over I
mean since COVID you're talking about for four or five years,
like from beginning to end, and this game, which bizarre
is it are exciting? Was it came from the from
all the corruption and the nonsense of termining, the rigging

(54:02):
of possible football games, and the manipulation of basketball games.
And one thing that was cool about watching baseball for
a change was it's I was thpeaking about the gambling scandals,
and I'm like, I don't know if you've it's betting
on this. This just seems really pure right now this moment.
And I took to go back to the history. I

(54:23):
don't I'm not going to pretend and I don't know
the history of the great games. But it was a refreshing, exciting,
you know, way to break out break into November.

Speaker 2 (54:36):
Do you feel like the blue Jays gave it away
more than the Dodgers won it? Again, not my premise,
but it's a conversation people are having.

Speaker 15 (54:44):
No.

Speaker 3 (54:45):
I think the blue Jays had the chance to close,
to wrap it up.

Speaker 14 (54:50):
But I definitely like if if the blue Jays were
up seven runs, eight runs, then you could say.

Speaker 2 (54:56):
Yeah, I got okay, it's the excellent point. What are
your thoughts some Lebron Tony.

Speaker 3 (55:01):
I bet my thought Lebron, as you would always say,
our athletes and entertainers are kings and queens. One thing
I will never do, and I'm sure you won't either,
his bow down to whatever that is, and he he
I'm pretty sure if he does, I'll gladly defend you.
I don't think he's talking about you, but Bernie, and

(55:24):
I'm saying this with the utmost respect, I don't think
Lebron James is worth one more breath of air from
your lungs.

Speaker 2 (55:31):
Brother, Well, I respect that. I mean, I know, I
know people can get Lebron fatigue, but this is a
story because it's the Lakers. He's not there, there's this injury,
and you've got this situation now where a national media
guy called him allows you teammates. So he's there in
the end of his career. Anyway, you get the last word,

(55:52):
you get the last word. I have to respond to
these things. Go ahead, Do you get the last time?

Speaker 3 (55:56):
I mean, he's he's allow the I don't know him, I.

Speaker 14 (56:01):
Don't need to know him, but I can bet pretty
well I can make take an assumption that he's not
he's he's Allowsy everything. But I honestly, I think his
last relevance, and I may have told you this in
the past, was this last year in Cleveland. I mean,
what's wild and I'll wrap it.

Speaker 3 (56:20):
Up here is he's sitting in a city and we're watching.

Speaker 14 (56:24):
The Dodgers, and the Dodgers.

Speaker 3 (56:26):
Are doing everything that Lebron forget la Lebron's never done
in any of it stops. So I want to I
want to ask you this and I'll get off.

Speaker 14 (56:35):
I'm curious to know in the twenty first century, the
last twenty twenty five years, you got you got Brady,
you got Tiger Woods.

Speaker 3 (56:44):
And right now I'm looking at Otani and what he's done,
not just in l agis in the dominant of sports.
Do you look at him in higher regard than whatever
the hell Lebron's done. I'll let you go.

Speaker 2 (56:55):
I want to wait till he gets the end of
his career, but I would say the short answer is yes,
because he's in. No one's done what Otani's done, and
then includes Babe Ruth. Baby Ruth was three and zero
in the World Series and had a microscopic yahrab it
was one for ten at the plate, but he also
hit more home runs than anybody else. He was hitting
sixty home runs when teams are hitting ten. So yeah,
I would look at Otani in a much higher regard

(57:16):
than I look at Lebron because of the way he
carries himself. But you can't. As much as I don't
care for Lebron, I don't want to be dismissive of
his impact that he did did help teams lead, you know,
get three championships. Thanks again, Tony, John and Georgia, thanks
to your patience. You're up next, sir. Do we have
John and Georgia? Yeah, you're on the Airpow.

Speaker 9 (57:40):
Can you hear me?

Speaker 2 (57:41):
I can hear you? Just fine? Go ahead?

Speaker 9 (57:43):
Yeah, you know, this series was really interesting when you
look at the dynamics of everybody. The thing that people
don't realize. I'm a retired military guy, and uh, I

(58:04):
spent a lot of time in Asia, and I've watched
a lot of the Japanese and Korean baseball players, and
I'm telling you there's a way that's going to come
with these guys.

Speaker 6 (58:20):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (58:21):
I think it's already here. Actually I really do.

Speaker 9 (58:23):
Yeah, and it's it's going to continue to come.

Speaker 2 (58:29):
But uh, was this the greatest work series you ever saw?

Speaker 9 (58:34):
I believe? So? Yeah.

Speaker 2 (58:36):
All right, so let me ask you this. Let me
ask you this, John, Uh, do you believe the Dodgers
won far and square? Obviously? Of course he did? Or
was it more the Blue Jays kind of giving it
away a little bit?

Speaker 9 (58:48):
I believe the Blue Jays failed on a lot of uh,
you know, they could have been better on the hitting.
But the fact is Jampo when he comes in, it's like, uh,
what do you do? You know?

Speaker 2 (59:09):
No, that's for that's for sure that what he did
was incredible back to back knights or right finally real quickly, Lebron,
is he a bad team in like Krik Carton says?
And is he angling to get out of La?

Speaker 9 (59:21):
No? I don't believe. So, I think Lebron is Lebron
is a I'm not I'm a big fan of him.
But the reality is is that this guy's a the
great and you can't take away of what he's given

(59:45):
to that fair. That's fair, and and and the biggest
thing is that you know the legacy that he leaves behind.
That is you know what who comes behind Lebron?

Speaker 2 (01:00:04):
Yeah, well yeah, maybe maybe SGA. But all right, thanks
a lot for checking in tonight, John, appreciate you. And yeah,
we can hold two thoughts concurrently. Uh, whether or not
Lebron is overstate is welcome, whether you like him or not. Uh,
he has been a part of championship for three different teams,
So you have to hold those thoughts concurrently. Jim in Massachusetts,

(01:00:28):
we got to you and Diana here what you gotta say.

Speaker 7 (01:00:31):
Hey, right, as far as the Dodges and the Blue
Jays go, that was that was a really good World Series.

Speaker 9 (01:00:39):
It was entertaining.

Speaker 7 (01:00:41):
Uh, you know, you had an eighteen inning game and
you had an over a fixtra inning game for the
for the game seven. But I don't know who won
the MVP, but they should have given it to that Yamamoto.
I mean he did.

Speaker 2 (01:00:54):
Yamamoto did win the MVP. There was no Okay, Greg,
by the way, do you think this series superseded seventy
five were just a week removed?

Speaker 15 (01:01:01):
Now?

Speaker 7 (01:01:01):
No, no, no, it was entertained, not no, no, nothing
seventy five, you know. And the big thing about feeling five,
the big thing about seventy five World Series was is
Jim Rice wasn't playing the best fastball hitter of his time.

Speaker 2 (01:01:17):
During that you had the big red machine and and
the thing people seem to forget is that, you know,
Carlton Fisk's home run just got them to Game seven,
which they lost. So I think people but fair enough.
I had a feeling maybe given where you're at, you
might feel the same. And I understand that. Uh, all right,
did the Blue Jays give it away? Or did the
Dodgers win it? Jim?

Speaker 7 (01:01:39):
Uh, that's a tough one, Brunie. I'm going to stay
in order to be in order to be the best,
you got to beat the best, all right. How's that
for a line? You know? I mean, you can't enough,
you can't you can't throw you know, kerosene on a fire.
It was just a great world The greatest one in
recent time. You know, it might help baseball going forward,
you know, people tuning in and everything and stuff like that.

Speaker 9 (01:02:04):
But it's not one of the greatest of all time, but.

Speaker 7 (01:02:06):
It was definitely one of the entertaining World Series of
all real quickly.

Speaker 2 (01:02:10):
On Lebron, Jim, you heard my thoughts.

Speaker 7 (01:02:13):
Yeah, you know Lebron. You know he's in a quiet taste,
I think now that I think about it. I mean
I was never a fan of his. Uh, I knew
how he was when he was playing aau ball and everything.

Speaker 9 (01:02:25):
He was always that big.

Speaker 7 (01:02:26):
I mean, he never had anybody put him in his place, So,
you know, he did a lot of good things and
great things and stuff with basketball. But yeah, I.

Speaker 2 (01:02:38):
Was onto something. Man, he's he was mirroring Craig Carton,
who's basically he's his feelings are hurt. He's just he's
not the guy. They don't want him. They didn't want
to re up him. First time he's been told no,
you got the last word, Jim real quickly.

Speaker 7 (01:02:52):
Yeah, Well, you know what, Bernie, he should have left
five five years ago A right.

Speaker 2 (01:02:56):
Probably probably. I think I think he could be here
five years now. I'm not I'm not kidding. You never
get rid of this guy. Jim always appreciates your thoughts.
Candidates to sync Alan and Saint Louis sainks for your patients.
You are up next, my friend.

Speaker 16 (01:03:09):
Well, good morning, Bernie.

Speaker 2 (01:03:10):
How are you good?

Speaker 16 (01:03:12):
I tell you one thing I'll say, out of all
the World Series I've seen, this has been the greatest
because you're talking about drama from anyone to any eighteen
to the to the K and I heard a previous
earliest period. I kind of disagree with the previous call.

(01:03:32):
He's talking about the team about Toronto was a better team.
If you look at the Dodgers, what the non superstar
players did. They made more big plays.

Speaker 2 (01:03:46):
That's a great observation. They put in Andy Pajas in
center field for defensive purposes and he makes one of
the toughest catches I can remember in the World Series.
That game's over and he'd be just about bowl over
the left fielder.

Speaker 9 (01:03:58):
Go ahead, you know.

Speaker 16 (01:03:59):
And you know we always criticize the manager when he
took Tommy Edmond out. You think Edward would have made
that play at second base?

Speaker 2 (01:04:08):
Well never know, but they seemed like Dave. He put
in Miguel Rojas going into Game six, he turned the levers.
He had the guts to do some unpreventional you know,
uh uh, some unconventional things, and it worked out. Dave Roberts.

Speaker 16 (01:04:21):
Course, of course, the Dodgers have a large payroll, but
the players that won't help win this series they were
they were not high payroll players.

Speaker 3 (01:04:30):
And that's what a team is, actually having.

Speaker 16 (01:04:33):
The other players step up when because let's face it,
the top four hitters average wise, they didn't do they
didn't do the greatest, but the other players pulled them up.
And that's why I loved it, because I just loved
the drama. You know, with the players at the play.
How many players of the.

Speaker 6 (01:04:49):
Play have you seen that?

Speaker 9 (01:04:51):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (01:04:51):
Yes, all right, Finally, your thoughts on Lebron if you
have any.

Speaker 16 (01:04:55):
Yeah, okay, First of all, I didn't date Toronto lost
it too.

Speaker 2 (01:04:58):
I just think, oh, yes, that's fair.

Speaker 9 (01:04:59):
Yeah, okay.

Speaker 16 (01:05:01):
As far as Lebron's turn, I'm going to use it
in three words, Lebron can't win. Now, people say Lebron
is silent. If Lebron was around the media and everything
answering questions, they would say he's trying to steal the spotlight.
And you know, maybe this could he's being quiet and
he's not going to be with the team all the time.

(01:05:22):
He can't travel with him because he has atoica. Anybody
with a bad back and gets on an airplane will
know what happens when that cabin pressure drops. So you know,
I don't know everything that's going on, but I think
this is one time Lebron being silent. Maybe that's not
his choice. Maybe the team is telling him, you know,

(01:05:42):
as for you know, Craig Carton out, I gotta get
there with a whole other story. But there's always somebody
out there who says, I think this is a.

Speaker 2 (01:05:51):
Very measured, pragmatic response on tip of the cap to you,
we don't know the whole story. And you're right. This
is one of those cases is where perhaps Lebron is
damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. Last word
Allen and I got it too. The next one ahead.

Speaker 16 (01:06:06):
Since we get an extra hour? Do we get an
extra hour of the power hour?

Speaker 2 (01:06:11):
What's what's the power hour?

Speaker 16 (01:06:13):
I not the power hour? I'm thinking about something. Hell,
but what's going on now?

Speaker 9 (01:06:18):
What?

Speaker 16 (01:06:18):
You don't lose my trainer's all. But I could listen
to these callers all day because.

Speaker 2 (01:06:23):
Well, you know what, maybe maybe the I have a
guest from Ohio State the final hour of the show.
Uh but maybe I maybe I will open up the
phone lines and if yeah, maybe I will. We'll see.
I got so much to get to I may not
get to it all. I got five hours. Thanks a lot.
Alan really appreciates, really measured thoughts. Man Well and Guardina. Yes, sir,
ladies and gentlemen.

Speaker 15 (01:06:44):
I just won't to celebrate because Elie just win back
to bag World Series champions. Baby.

Speaker 2 (01:06:56):
No one can take it away from him, give it you.
It's very hard too.

Speaker 15 (01:07:02):
What a series, Bernie, right, I mean, like the caller earlier,
I'm not going to go as far as saying it's
the greatest ever. Seventy five was pretty up there, sixteen
was pretty unbelievable. Yeah, but what a series? I mean,
Michel fing Rojas, Yoshinobu fing Yamamoto, Daves fing Roberts. What

(01:07:28):
you said, man, to have the Gonad to not only
pull Tommy Edman, to put in Pohis, to put in Rojas,
pull all those levers and have them come. You know,
it could have been xxx Instead it was Cherry Cherry
Cherry and the jack pot hid. I mean, this team

(01:07:49):
man play one back to back in this run, especially
this World Series run, despite their own self. Man, at
times they look like a damn littleby teams, you know,
running themselves out of innings playing that defense. But they
showed the heart of the champion two outs away and

(01:08:10):
absolutely not. It would be disrespect to say Toronto lost
that game. The Dodgers showed the heart of the champion
and they took that game, Bernie, in more ways than one,
in all kinds of plays late innings. That's what champions do.

Speaker 2 (01:08:29):
Outstanding thoughts on Lebron Miguel Sorry.

Speaker 15 (01:08:34):
You know, man, I'm not a big Lebron fan either.
I think he is starting to get selfish. He never
was really, but now, I mean, his ego precedes him.
His ego is bigger than the mansion that he lives in.
And like you said, he can't take no for an answer.
And when the Lakers said, hey, he's a big fella,

(01:08:55):
this is not your party anymore. We're going with the
fat Euro, he didn't like that, man. So uh, you know,
he's got to find his role. That's what good champion
players do. But I don't think is he going to
allow him to? And I think he will be around
five years. Like you said, Bernie, love the show.

Speaker 2 (01:09:15):
Thanks so much. Manuel James in Australia, welcome in.

Speaker 8 (01:09:19):
Good to hear from you, Bernie. How you got Mike?

Speaker 2 (01:09:24):
Good? Thank you, sir, you.

Speaker 8 (01:09:27):
Very good. Now I'm gonna say that that was the
most epic guy, the most epic advice boat that I've
ever seen. And it's a world series. Well, let's call
on the world series Japan. I Clay break Canada, didn't.

Speaker 17 (01:09:43):
I in that?

Speaker 2 (01:09:46):
That's why I love this segment so much. Callers come
up with such great angles. Yeah, you're not wrong, rookie
y Yamamoto sani.

Speaker 8 (01:09:56):
Right, that's right.

Speaker 4 (01:09:57):
He was a doc.

Speaker 15 (01:09:58):
He's a doc.

Speaker 8 (01:10:00):
Tame me on the second Guide and there was the
second Weapon.

Speaker 2 (01:10:04):
Well, listen, that's an interesting take. And I it's you know,
whether or not it was the greatest world series as subjective,
but you can make that case based on the criteria
I lay it out.

Speaker 9 (01:10:15):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:10:15):
I have to ask this because it's a conversation point.
It's a talking point. You think the Blue Jays gave
it away a little bit more than the Dodgers actually won. It.

Speaker 9 (01:10:26):
Well, I.

Speaker 8 (01:10:28):
Didn't want to sign this because a lot of the
Australians were going to Canada. But I think I think
there was a few dodgy tactics with the Bloy Giants
and I'll just flavored of that.

Speaker 2 (01:10:43):
By the way, down in the great country of Australia,
have you ever heard of Lebron James down there?

Speaker 8 (01:10:50):
We definitely have ye.

Speaker 2 (01:10:52):
Yes, So your thoughts on Lebron James and he's heading
into uh because I listen, we had some great calls.
Alan Lewis says, we don't really know. Maybe he's not
allowed to travel and he's dan if he does, dan
if he does not. On the other hand, Man Well
pointed out, listen, Lebron likes to be front and center,
and it'd be he wouldn't be human if it wasn't
bothering him. That Luca's really kind of aced him out. Thoughts.

Speaker 8 (01:11:17):
Oh, look, Lebron's the I's gonna be a gun, gonna
be a legend in that books. I mean, yeah, you
look at his look at his look at his repertoire,
look at his history. Right hey, yeah, every everyone, everyone
wants to be the villain. But like you know, that's

(01:11:38):
all right, that's all.

Speaker 2 (01:11:39):
Rot, all right, thanks for checking in. James really appreciate it.

Speaker 7 (01:11:43):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:11:44):
We had Danny in Toronto holding on and he jumped offline.
It's a bummer. I really wanted to hear from Danny
in Toronto because someone in Toronto. I've been to that
stadium many times, been to that city many times. Young Street,
Sean Green, he was a very good friend of mine.
We'd visit him when I lived in Detroit when he
was playing for the Blue Jays. What a hell of

(01:12:06):
a baseball town that people don't realize what a great
baseball town that is. So I'm sure Danny, if you're
still listening, take a minute to call back in, because
I do. I really did want to hear what you
had to say. Eight seven seven nine nine six sixty
three sixty nine eight seven seven, nine to nine On Fox.
We're having a terrific midnight hour as always because of

(01:12:26):
the callers, very interesting, disparate opinions and thoughts. We're talking
about is just the greatest world series of all time.
And I listed other ones seventy five, eighty six, ninety
one right on down the line, twenty eleven, twenty sixteen,
Look it's subjective, I get it. But there was drama,
there was historical moments, it was very competitive, and then

(01:12:46):
you know the Blue Jays. They left forty one men
on base the last three losses and there were just
things they did. There were mental mistakes that that really
cost him. And then finally Lebron according to reports from some,
he may be have a he may have a very
uncertain future in Los Angeles. What that means, I don't know.

(01:13:07):
I don't know. Will he look for the door halfway
through the year. Could there be I know, their trade rumors.
I don't know about any of that. We're gonna talk
to Mark Medina later, but it's it's part of the mix.
So eight seven, seven, nine nine sixty six three six nine.
That's here for him and especially I really wanted to
hear from Danny in Toronto. With the iHeart Radio app,

Speaker 6 (01:13:49):
Coming up.

Speaker 2 (01:13:49):
The Midnight Hour continues with your calls eight seven seven
nine nine six six three six nine eight seven seven.
Men on Fox. I'm Bernie Fridday. We are comingy alive
for the Las Vegas Fox Radio Studios. Yes, it is
our annual five hour Daylight Savings Extravaganza. Now, if you
live back East, or even if you live in the

(01:14:11):
Midwest or the Mountain time zone, you've already turned the
clock back with two am. Rolled around here. We're hour
and eighteen minutes from two am in the Pacific time zone,
and it'll turn back to one. Voilah. We take you
up to three am, but to really be four am.
But it's three am, and you get an extra hour

(01:14:34):
who come to your line from Las Vegas Fox Sports
Radio Studios. Keep it locked. You're listening to the Bernie
Frattle Show on Fox Sports Radio. All right back on
the Bernie Fraddles Show, wrapping up on the Midnight Hour.
Eight seven seven nine, ninety six, six three six nine.
Some thoughts and the reason I threw it out there
as to why we going to have a conversation. Yes,

(01:14:56):
it's subjective that this may have been the greatest World
Series of all time. We'll consay when you're at the
water cooler on Monday, just think about it. These are
some of the things we saw during this World Series.
He's last nine days, an eighteen inning game in Game three.
You see that every day, No, and over seven hundred
World Series games, only five made it past inning twelve.

(01:15:18):
He had to pinch it Grand Slam by Addison Barger
Toronto Blue Jays. He had a walk off, another walk
off home run by well, Freddie Freeman. Of course, that's
what he does the World Series. I remember, I'm old
enough to remember he did that last year in game
won against the Yankees. That World Series wasn't anywhere near
as dramatic as this one, but Freddy did it again

(01:15:39):
in his walkoff was dramatic, ending the six hour and
thirty nine minute game on Monday night, which led it
to Tuesday morning. How often you see this game? Five
back to back home runs by Schneider and Vladimir Guerrero
Schneider was in for George Springer, who we didn't think

(01:16:05):
would be in the rest of the series. He leads
off the game of the home run. First pitch, all right,
n Vladdie hits it off, and all of a sudden,
it's two nothing in game five, and well, you know
what happened. You don't see complete games ever anywhere, but
you saw a complete game by Yamamoto. And then he
comes back and does what he does, three road wins.

(01:16:26):
How about a twelve strikeout game. Okay, you don't really
ever see twelve strikeout games in the World Series, But
how about a guy that had only been in the
big leagues for forty seven days? Treya Savage? What the
guy's got a release point of over seven feet high.
It's talking about a buddy Larry Sorenson about this. I've
never seen an arm slot like that. But here's the kicker.

(01:16:48):
So I was in Florida my wife in early May
went to a minor league game Dunedin against Saint Pete Phillies. Well, you, Savage.
Treya Savage was playing for Dneed in Single A in May,
and he's in the big leagues in the World Series.
Half at a time, He was almost a World series eero.

(01:17:09):
He was a World Series eero. They didn't win, but
he was. You think you seen this kind of stuff
in every world series, No, you don't. Only one other
world series in history featured a walkoff homer, a pinchhit homer,
back to back homers, and a complete game. And it's
the one I was talking to Jim from Massachusetts about.
That was the classic nineteen seventy five Cincinnati Reds Big

(01:17:33):
Red Machine Red Sox World Series, which had Carlton Fisk's
twelfth inning walkoff homer which forced Game seven, two Bernie
Carbo pinchhate home runs, two Louis t On, complete games,
and by the way, the Reds and the Big Red
Machine hit back to back home runs in Game three.
That's the only other world series in history that featured

(01:17:53):
some of the things that this world series did. Oh.
By the way, only one other world series in history
matches this one for a slightly different set of accomplishments,
the nineteen sixty four Cardinal the Yankees World Series. That
one had a Mickey Mantle walkoff homer, an extra inning game,
two grand slams, a complete game, and a double digit

(01:18:16):
strackout game. From the legendary Hall of Famer Bob Gibson.
But what's interesting is that's not all you talk to historians.
And by the way, how about show Heo Tani got
on base nine times in the Intonadian game? Nine times

(01:18:37):
in one game? How many of these balls, bats, uniforms
are gonna end up in the Hall of Fame? And
in game seven? Have we ever really seen anything like
a Game seven like we saw? Because there were things
you don't look. I said at the top of the show,
baseball or sports are the greatest reality show. You could
script everything, but the ending, well, there's an old thing.

(01:18:59):
Just when you think you've seen it all, you see
something new. That's baseball. This was the one hundred and
fiftieth season of Major League baseball. There have been one
hundred and twenty two years of postseason baseball. This was
the seven hundred and sixth World Series game ever played.
It was also the one eight hundred and seventy seventh
postseason game ever played. Now, why don't you give you

(01:19:21):
all those numbers on the radio? You followed them? Don't
like to do that, but there's a reason. Okay, there
have been more than seven hundred World Series games none
had ever ined on a double play like the one
that ended on Game six on Friday Night, a lion
drive to leftfielder, who then doubled up the runner on
second base, seven to four. If you're scoring at all,
there have been eighteen hundred postseason games, none of them.

(01:19:43):
And think of how the inning started. Hit a walk,
and then and then Barger hits a ground ruld double. Well,
if it's an inch fire, the Blue Jays probably scored
two runs, but it lands in the wedge. Justin Dean
raises his hands a ground ruld double. The very next hitter,
Amens lines out to left field, Barder gets double off second,

(01:20:04):
and ninety seconds he went from what might have been
a hero to a goat. Oh man, I could go
on and on and on and on, and maybe we
will later in the show, because I do want to
talk about why it's so hard to repeat, and oh,
by the way, and we'll get to the money stuff
later as well, but we got to get to the
NBA coming up top of the hour mark madeIn and
Medina managers will keep it locked. You're listening to the

(01:20:25):
Bernie Frattle Show on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (01:20:28):
Don't listening to Fox Sports radio radio.

Speaker 2 (01:20:31):
That's right, you heard the man Bernie Frattle Show keeps
rolling right along. We're coming to you live from the
Fox Sports Radio studios here in Las Vegas. Our annual
five hour daylight Saving show continues rolling right along, and
we're gonna switch gears right now because there's so much
to talk about with the brand new NBA season and

(01:20:52):
NBA Cup and all sorts of commentary and rumors flying
three simple words, it's that time. Medina Magic, our Fox
Sports Radio NBA guru, also a writer for Essentially Sports,
Mark Bedina joins us. Mark, let's dive right in some
fairly inflammatory comments about Lebron Jame from Craig Carton and oh,

(01:21:15):
by the way, from repudoy reporters who have implied somewhat
perhaps that Lebron's silence and lack of presence, as it were,
might he be at some point this season angling to
move on? The quote was his future is uncertain? What
that means? Mark, there's three or four questions here taken away.

Speaker 18 (01:21:38):
Yeah, well, look, anything can happen with Lebron James. But
I'm on record, and I know it doesn't sound sexy, sallacious,
but he might be dissatisfied with things with the Lakers,
or not making enough even more aggressive moves, or not
giving him an extension this summer. But practically speaking, he

(01:21:59):
is not leaving the Lakers. He's not going to negotiate
a buyout. It's making fifty two million dollars this season.
And I think, also in fairness to Lebron, there's a
lot of insinuation al he's faking this injury all that.
I talked with some other doctors this week about sky Attica,
Like it's a real injury, it's very painful. So I
would very much doubted that he's, you know, just faking

(01:22:22):
this as some sort of political protests or something against
the Lakers.

Speaker 2 (01:22:26):
No, I'm in agreement with that. I've never questioned a
player's injury in any sport.

Speaker 17 (01:22:32):
Ever.

Speaker 2 (01:22:32):
You don't know the threshold, the pain threshold they have,
and it's I don't think it's fair to do that.
But it's been implied by you know, Craig Carton, who's
pretty out there in terms of his you know, commentary
every now and then. I know you know who Craig is.
So you believe there's really no merit to that whatsoever

(01:22:54):
at all.

Speaker 18 (01:22:56):
No, but at the same time, that doesn't mean that,
you know, Lebron James and the Lakers front office are
you know, locked to the hip and everything. But I
do think that, you know, there's a lot of interpretation
his for the season opener on his very stolic body language,
and you know, I think that's a tone you like
to have the leader of the team, you know, celebrate

(01:23:18):
and clap. But you know, the next game, when Luca
Dodgers was going off, he was he was celebrating. So
there is kind of that fine line of reading too much.
But that's not to say he's blameless. I think a
key thing with this injury that I do want to
point out is, while nothing is definitive, I did ask
the question because there's all this speculation from Laker fans,

(01:23:39):
I had Lebron James get injured. Welp golfing and you
know the Lake Lebron's folks will say it happened in
a workout, but a lot of the doctors I talked
to said, you know, I can't definitively say that was
the factor, but golfing is something that can perpetuate that
injury because of the twisting torquing motion. And all that,

(01:24:00):
And that's something that they were surprised he would indulge in,
given you know where he's at in his career at
four years old.

Speaker 2 (01:24:07):
Well, I think Creig Carton was nonplus by the fact
he didn't travel to Minnesota either when he made a
point to beat the Dodger game the night before. But
let's let's move off that. I've watched the Lakers a
lot this year. They're foreign two. I'm on record as
saying I think they're going to be forty to and forty.
I could be eating crow A come March, but we'll see.
But here's here's the thing. Sure, Austin Reeves goes on,

(01:24:30):
goes off when he's got the ball. He's ball dependent.
Luca's ball dependent, So Lebron is ball dependent. Let's not
kid ourselves. So when all three of them are on
the floor and they all are ball dependent in order
to be at the ceiling that the Lakers want them
to be, isn't this a conflict? Isn't this sort of
heading toward a collision course in your view?

Speaker 18 (01:24:48):
Well, there's certainly a lot of sacrifices that Luca, Dongregen Lawson,
Reeves are going to make They're not going to get
the amount of shots because Lebron's there. But you know,
when I'm looking at last season and kind of the shortcomings,
I don't think that it was X's and O's conflict
with Lebron and Luca. I think till Lebron's credit, he
embraced the defensive role, embraced playing off ball. I think

(01:25:12):
Luca sometimes played too much one on one basketball, not
enough ball movement, but that I think has improved so
far in his return here. And I think a bigger
thing is they've upgreated their roster. It's not blockbuster home
run moves, but again, deandreid and you have an actual center,
you have a pick and roll lob Thread. You have
some wing defenders like Marcus Smart, Gabe Vincent. He's out

(01:25:36):
with the injury, but pre injury, he was hitting shots,
defending well. So I think those reinforcements can make a
difference now. Big picture, look the Thunder undefeated for a reason,
even with some of their own injury issues with Jalen Williams.
The San Antonio Spurs like they've shown that they are
the real deal. Victorwebanyama is not only in the defensive

(01:25:58):
player of the Year conversation, but he could very well
be in the MVP conversation. So I think the general
thing when Lebron comes back, the fit will be well.
But you know, the ceiling is they're the second among
the second tier of Western Conference playoff teams and they're
probably not getting past the second round because Oklahoma City

(01:26:19):
and Denver and maybe even San Antonio are that much
more dominant.

Speaker 2 (01:26:23):
Taman Mark Medina Medina Magic Are Fox Sports Radio NBA
guru writer for Essentially Sports. Yeah, you're not wrong about
san Antonio. Not only the five and oh there point
differential is almost fifteen points per game. So we'll continue
to watch that as we will with the Chicago Bulls,
the only undefeated team in the Eastern Conference. Didn't see
that coming, Mark, What do you make of the Chicago

(01:26:45):
Bulls and five to zero?

Speaker 18 (01:26:46):
I did not have that online big old Bengo card either.
I mean, part of it is, yes, the Eastern Conference
is wide open, but I thought this would be a
Chicago Bulls team that's just on empty calories. Yeah, they
have Josh Kitty Nikolovusovich, but they don't have a lot
of cohesion. They broke up, you know, their team for
financial reasons and also just accepting the fact that their

(01:27:08):
ceiling was just playing tournament in a quick out and
so it is early in the season, but I think
the fact that they have a lot of balance on
offense or hustling really well. And the Eastern Conference is
wide open with you know, Boston clearly showing this is
a gap year with al Jason Tatum, and you know,
the business decisions with trading Drew Holliday and of course

(01:27:30):
out for zingis in separate deals in Indiana because tyres
Halburn is not healthy with his achilles injury. But you know, look,
momentum can be a thing in the NBA and when
he get off to a good start, sometimes that can
be a snowball effect.

Speaker 2 (01:27:46):
Yeah, very true, and it's it's very early. But oh,
by the way, that deafening silence we hear out there
is all the use about the NBA Cup. Do people
realize the NBA Cup is.

Speaker 18 (01:27:57):
Start Mark, here's why people realize. The courts are so
bright you need to wear sunglasses if you're watching it
both live or on TV.

Speaker 2 (01:28:09):
Fair fair enough, and hopefully you haven't been imbibing too
much and staring.

Speaker 18 (01:28:15):
Hey, Bernie when you tell a hell of a joke,
I tell the audience to tip. The audience tip the
servers well tonight. So you know, I'm not saying the reciprocate,
but I'm saying the reciprocate.

Speaker 2 (01:28:27):
All right, all right, don't forget to tip those waiters
and waitresses. Two shows, Mark, Meadena opened up for Shecky.
I believe you're opening up for Shacky Green and the
Cats Skills next week. I have to check my schedule,
but good sections available. Mark, you never I we don't
we hear any of this, and you're you're spot on
with uh all of your off the hip on knowledge.
All right, let's shift gears. Speaking of injury, could it

(01:28:50):
be Anthony Davis three games into the season is already
heard again?

Speaker 18 (01:28:54):
I mean, look, we've seen his injury history, so uh,
you know, he excited Mavericks fans at least a little
bit the first half of his first game after the
Leucadogics trade went down them and he had a severe
injury that sidelined him not for the entire season, but
for a good chunk.

Speaker 6 (01:29:13):
You know.

Speaker 18 (01:29:14):
I know his injury history is what it is, but
I thought when the Dallas Mavericks goot Anthony Davis. He
would show that he was more durable than people thought.
Here's why, when you're looking at the timeline from January
twenty third to when the Lakers actually trade him, he

(01:29:35):
didn't have a major injury. I mean, he wasn't mister Ironman.
No one's calling him the air to ac Green. But
the amount of games he missed were just a handful
here or there. So you know, right now it's very
short term. They're just saying first two games because of
a calf strain, But calf strains are no joke, even
if it's low grade. That's what THEMRI revealed. Those are

(01:29:57):
very sensitive injuries. And so the other thing is caps
trains historically can lead to Achilles injuries exactly, does not
managed correctly and the player rushes back. So yeah, there's
always been a lot of problems with the Dallas and Avericks.
First training for Luka Dontrich, even though you got some
good players in return with Andy Davis and Max Chirsty

(01:30:20):
first round pick not good enough for generational talent, the
NAD getting hurt, Kyrie Irving having the ACL injury to
shut him out for the rest of the season, he's
probably not coming back from midway this season. Cooper flags
rookie struggles, which I think will turn around, But now
Anthony Davis having injuries, it just seems like, already very

(01:30:40):
early in the season, the Dallas and Mavericks are in
a deep pole.

Speaker 2 (01:30:44):
Well, it is early in the season, and two years
ago at this point, I think when the Lakers started
like eight and fourteen or something, you end up in
the conference finals. So we shall have to wait and see.
Speaking of early in the season, is it true the
Pelicans already considering firing their coach Willie Green one weekend
of the season.

Speaker 18 (01:31:01):
I have in sense that, you know, I caught up
with the Pelicans when they're in LA against the Clippers.
You know, you never know in today's NBA. And you
also have to keep in mind that you du Mars
took over the front office, so it is a reasonable
thing to monitor because a lot of times when there's
a new person in front office, they want to have
someone that they hired. But you know, it's too early

(01:31:24):
in the season to know. I think that they've been
very encouraged with how aggressive Zion Williamson has been on
both ends of the floor. More consistent of score actually
being a pretty good defender. They are missing Kevon Looney,
who was a you know, it's not a game changer,
but he's a valued role player with the Warriors as
a championship equity. He's expected to come back, possibly as

(01:31:46):
early as today against Yoklahoma City Thunder. So too early
to see, but yeah, the Pelicans have been riding this
kind of road for the last two seasons where they
have an intriguing young roster. But now it's about pipeline
up to their potential. That starts with Zion, but you know,

(01:32:07):
in fairness, it's also about Trey Murphy the third. Can
Jeremiah fears Be have a good rookie season? Is that
Derek Queen rookie draft pick something that they'll regret or
can he blossom into something? But so far they haven't
learned how to win close games. Three of those losses
have been by single digits. They almost beat the Clippers

(01:32:28):
the other night before Kawhi Leonard hit a step back
jumper over them. So yeah, too early to see, but
they got to turn this around pretty quickly or else
this will be a conversation I will probably have in
future segments.

Speaker 2 (01:32:40):
So One of the other ominous headlines in this early
NBA season is the league, I think collectively and the
pulland Drail Blazers trying to reconcile this situation with Chauncey Billups.
I think people are in shock the situation, and I
understand that his pay and Terry Rosier's pay are being withheld,

(01:33:04):
but the union is fighting that. Can you tell us
about how that's progressing.

Speaker 18 (01:33:09):
Yeah, Well, the union, I think, philosophically, are always going
to fight for their players because that's what they represent.
But it's also just about ensuring that there's due process.
Everyone takes these allegations seriously, but they have to go
through the court of law to determine the severity of
it and guilty not guilty, but if guilty, what's true

(01:33:30):
what isn't.

Speaker 19 (01:33:32):
So that's what it is.

Speaker 18 (01:33:34):
I think we have to temper expectations on how long
this is going to happen. I mean, they made an arrest,
but now it's about going through the court process and
all that. So I would expect that this is a
season long investigation with the FBI, and so you know,
they put the Portland Trailblazers put Shauncey Billups on leave.

(01:33:57):
They can't actually say he's fired because you know, from
a appeals process, that could get them into hot water.
But you put them on on pay leave, it'll kind
of sort out. So even though Tiago's Splitter is technically
the interim head coach, he's the head coach the rest
of the year and likely onward, and you know, to

(01:34:17):
a man from this purely a basketball lens, he's handled
the job really well. I've been really impressed while with
how well they're competing talking to some of the guys
with the Blazers, Drew Holliday and most notably as you know,
being an established all star veter on the team. They've
really sung Thiago Splitter's praises by how resilient he's deal

(01:34:40):
with the group, talking to them about the situation as
a group individually and really having them have tunnel vision
on just trying to you know, focus on basketball. Because
even though all the players you know on this team
had relationships with Chauncey and to a man through the
basketball lane, they have a lot of respect for him
and they hope this can sort out as best as

(01:35:02):
possible for them. They're also, you know, very much stressing
that this has nothing to do with them, and so
they have to focus, you know, forward on strictly the
basketball lens. Let everything else take care of itself.

Speaker 6 (01:35:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:35:17):
Of course poor Lands is foreign too, and they won
one three in earl. Moving along, I understand how the
refs are going to be wearing headsets, which will help
expedite their communication with the replay center. Is that true?
Is that happening or is that not happening?

Speaker 18 (01:35:33):
Yeah, I mean that's true. Now is that going to
expedite the replay center?

Speaker 3 (01:35:37):
Who knows?

Speaker 18 (01:35:38):
I mean, we've made the often recycled joke, and look,
we can reuse the material because it was great. We've
often joked during these replays that we've decided to watch
Oppenheimer while they're deciding to wait if the call is
right or not. So I guess anything that can help
mitigate it, but I'm going to wait and see. There's

(01:35:58):
been so many time times that they've been disrupting the
flow of the game because they're obsessed with getting the
call right. And I get it, you want to be accurate,
But I think that the biggest criteria that referee should
be held to is are they ensuring a good flow
to the game, and are they being consistent. I think

(01:36:21):
those two things are arguably actually more important than if
it's a right or wrong call. Because everyone's human, You're
going to make mistakes. That by that constant stopping and
the constant inconsistency, I think frustrates both teams and certainly
the fans.

Speaker 2 (01:36:38):
Wrapping up with Marvinina a couple of other quick things, Mark,
I understand Memphis has suspend a job Moran for conduct
detrimental to the team. Do we have what you like,
take up two parking spots or what would happen would be?
What did he do?

Speaker 18 (01:36:53):
No, he didn't take up too smart parking spots. In
all seriousness, It's not like the incidents that we saw
in recent seasons involving the gun episodes on social media. No,
I think this is pretty simple. He was showing a
lot of poor attitude and the Grizzlies loss against the
Lakers on Friday. You know, he didn't play well season

(01:37:13):
low eight points three or fourteen from the field. He
made a lot of crypto comments post him when he
was being asked about his struggles, and he kiss just
kept repeatedly saying you know, you know, asked the coaching
staff about this, so you know, I don't think it
sat well with them. And when you're looking at their
you know, new head coach to Moss, he's Allo, He's

(01:37:34):
a European coach. You know, he has a lot of
years coaching Germany and France, and I think when you're
looking at the cultural differences, you know they come from
the school of you know, they can be that you know, commanding,
do what I say type head coach, and that's much
different than the conventional NBA coach had always adheres to
the superstar and they don't want to ruffle feathers. European

(01:37:57):
coaches aren't afraid to call guys out, So you know,
I know it's out there for ESPN that that there
was uh, you know, some shooing out in the locker
room in front of the team, and John Moran may
not have taken kinway to it, but look, when you're
the leader of the franchise, you're making a lot of money.
You got to perform, and so you know, you can
be frustrated about that, but use that frustration the right way.

(01:38:20):
And clearly the Memphis Grizzy sent the message that are
not going to tolerate that behavior.

Speaker 2 (01:38:27):
All the talent in the world. But I'll tell you
what I don't. I don't know what this dude's problem is.
Which said, what would you have say something else?

Speaker 6 (01:38:35):
Yeah?

Speaker 18 (01:38:35):
I was just say and it's sad. Here's why his
teammates love him. I've talked to him, you know, even
during it after the gun episode and recently they've always said, Hey,
he's matured. He's a great locker room guy. He's very positive.
We feed off his energy, love his work ethic. But
when he has episodes like this, it underminds that cause
I think secondly, you know, Taylor Jenkins was fired last season,

(01:38:57):
and part of it was because I think there's frustration
with the new offensive system where there weren't a lot
of play calls for him, and it was a lot
of you know, fast paced that wasn't pick and rolls.

Speaker 9 (01:39:09):
You know.

Speaker 18 (01:39:09):
Uh, He's alloh, his whole coaching philosophy is more pick
and roll sets for John Moran to ron so that
that's all about play cain to him, but he also
wants John to actually try. So he's been frustrated with
season low minutes, but he's going to reward him if
he actually gives effort.

Speaker 2 (01:39:29):
Mark, I got to run that last minute was going
to be for Brownie Kwantie Patty Brode. So so seriously
save it for next week. I really yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:39:37):
Lets you go to Radio Two's.

Speaker 2 (01:39:40):
It's a radio teas and people will be waiting with
baby breath for one more week. Great stuff. Mark, We'll

(01:41:44):

o'clock's going to become one o'clock and we still have
two more hours of the show after that. This slays me.
Brian Kelly, the erstwhile coach at LSU, who has had
quite a career. Okay, it's given to give their manage due.
He's done some good things, but it bombed at LSU,

(01:42:06):
bomb and paid him fifty three million bucks to go away,
you know, the starting with the fake Southern accent, all
that kind of stuff. I mean, here's a guy from Worcester, Massachusetts.
It didn't fit in the South. He was not a fit.
We're hearing now. I didn't even know all the players' names.
He becomes such an unpopular figure. I mean, we're now
finding out that his issues went beyond football. But what's

(01:42:27):
interesting is is that reportedly Brian Kelly worked with an
image consultant. The guy allegedly worked you heard me with
an image consultant. Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna have to go
and disagree with it. There, Bill Lumberg, I would just
say this like I wonder if he get money back

(01:42:47):
with all due respect, or maybe the image consultant gave
him good advice and he didn't folp. Who knows. But
of all the jobs that are opening right now, Florida
Penn State, LSU is getting the run man terms of
you should see the list of candidates to possibly replace
Brian Kelly. We'll go over that a little bit later
in the show. But get your pens and pencils ready.

(01:43:10):
Time to drink through a fire. Host. Fantasy football is
big in his country. My son's in first place in
his league. So it's time for the Fantasy Files.

Speaker 4 (01:43:22):
Fantasy Files with Brandon Deutsch, your go to fantasy football segment.

Speaker 6 (01:43:28):
At one gone.

Speaker 17 (01:43:30):
Welcome to Fantasy Files. I'm Brandon Deutsch, and here we are.
We are going to win our matchups this weekend and
start Tetoa McMillan against the Green Bay Packers. He's a
must start at this point. I really like what he's
been doing. Believe, nine catches last week, ninety plus yards,
two touchdowns. With Bryce Young a few weeks ago, he

(01:43:52):
is the top target in this offense. Now, Jalen Coker
is going to get some targets. But remember Green Bay
can be exploited in their secondary. That's their big weakness.
Their defensive line is great, but you gotta think Green
Bays can be ahead the entire game, which means who's
going to be passing the ball the entire game, Carolina,
which means who's gonna get targets? Teteroa McMillan. I really
like him in that matchup, and I actually speaking to

(01:44:15):
that matchup, would sit Matthew Golden. I just don't haven't
seen enough. They have five different receivers that they utilize
on a weekly basis. I just don't love that they're
not targeted in him, and at this point you can't
trust him. I faded him preseason. I made a lot
of Fantasy football content about that, telling people Matthew Golden
was not a good draft pick in fantasy because simply
they have they utilize too many different guys. Now they

(01:44:36):
have an elite tight end, right, so I don't think
that he's going to ball out at all this season. Next,
I would star Kendrick Bourne against the New York Giants.
Kendrick Bourne has a great matchup. Ricky Piersoll still out,
rock Perty is still out. I like what he can
do this week, and this will be his final big game,
because remember he had those two big games and then
he hasn't done anything but Cardio the last few weeks.

(01:44:56):
At Jones can really really take advantage of this bad secondary.
The last two games they were playing good second theary.
That's why he didn't get the targets, That's why he
didn't get the fantasy points.

Speaker 9 (01:45:05):
Right.

Speaker 17 (01:45:05):
Yes Kittle will be involved, Yes Christian McCaffrey will be involved,
but you have to think that Kendrick bourn is going
to have at least a ten target game and probably
six or seven catches for one hundred plus yards. Make
sure to start Kareem Hunt against Buffalo. This is the
best game of the weekend. Kareem Hunt is coming off
of two touchdowns. He's had a bazillion touchdowns all year long,
so you can rely on him. I Piccheco's banged up now,

(01:45:26):
Brichhard Smith. I'm not saying that he's not going to
get some usage, and I'm not saying Kareem Hunt is
going to just all of a sudden dominate this game.
But I would not be shocked if he gets two
or three touchdowns again in a game that I think
is going to be high scoring. Make sure to sit
what he marks against Denver Wood. He marks his only
play for upside and for fantasy points in this game
is past catching. If they're down the entire game, which

(01:45:47):
I actually do not think they will be. I think
Houston's gonna play very well and this will be a
close game. They can't run the football on that Denver
d line. But remember Hat Sertan is out, he's not playing,
and that was the guy that was shadowing all of
the receivers. So Nico Collins is probably due for a
big game in every all the pass catchers are due
for a big game, but the run game will be
almost non existent, especially with that offensive line against the

(01:46:08):
really elite defensive line. Make sure to start Khalil Shakir
against Kansas City's coming off of a fifty five plus
yard touchdown great game last week. I think he has
another big game, and remember he's played well against Kansas
City in the past, so I think this is an
easy start. A sit Courtland Sun against Houston. So I
would sit Courtland Sun, and I would sit Troy Franklin
against Houston. That might be unpopular because Troy Franklin's been

(01:46:29):
awesome in the last few weeks and Courtland Sun is
a one, so it's hard to sit a wide receiver one.
But Houston's secondary is top five against the pass. They're insane.
They have the healthiest defense of the elite ones right now.
Right Kansas City Buffalo has a pretty good pass defense,
Denver Patzer Tangas got hurt, and it's Houston right Houston
is probably the toughest matchup right now for any opposing

(01:46:51):
wide receiver. So I would firmly confidently sit Courtland Sun,
Troy Franklin, and Bone Nicks because I don't think they'll
be able to run the FOOTBA we forget Usays defensive
line is great too, and they needed to win last week.
I was not shocked they beat San Francisco. This is
another desperate game for the Broncos, don't need to win.
Houston does make sure to start Marvin Harrison Junior against Dallas.

(01:47:11):
Dallas's thirty first ranked pass defense. Obviously they're abysmal, right,
Marvin Harrison Junior should have another big game, regardless of
who's playing quarterback. I mean, it doesn't really matter. With
Jacoby Brissett. He's gotten targets, less targets than with Kyler Murray,
but he's still gotten targets. He should ball out against
Dallas regardless of who is playing quarterback. Josh Downs versus

(01:47:32):
Pittsburgh is a must start Pittman two. I mean, these
are must starts. Pittsburgh has the thirty second ranked pass
defense in the National Football League, behind Dallas. That's how
bad they are. I mean, they're giving up thirty plus
points every single week. We know that the Colts are
going to try to run, and if they can establish
even some form of run game, it'll open up the
passing game so much and they'll throw for Dane Jones

(01:47:53):
with throw for like three hundred and fifty yards in
this game. Make sure to sit Trey Tucker against Jacksonville.
Jacksonville's defense is still very good even without Trap Hunter.
Their secondary is pretty good, their d line's obviously good,
and their linebackers are fantastic. So I have a really
hard time believing that Trey Tucker will have those explosive
plays against Jacksonville, though I do think that they'll be
down in this game, so there is a possibility that

(01:48:14):
he'll get targets in the second half once they're down.
Make sure to start Kamani Vidal against the Tennessee Titans.
My favorite start of the week. This guy's going to
have two or three touchdowns. They'll be ahead the entire game.
Against Tennessee.

Speaker 2 (01:48:24):
I really like what he can do.

Speaker 17 (01:48:26):
To make sure to sit Rico Dawdle against green Bay
chewba Hubbard's back, taking away some snaps in green Bay's
run defense is incredible. And finally, start Chase Brown against
the Chicago Bears. Elite matchup, Elite play. Chase Brown is
going to dominate this week. Thank you for listening to
Fantasy Files. Let's all win our matchups in Week nine.
Back to the Bernie Fratto Show.

Speaker 2 (01:48:45):
Yeah, of all the games mentioned, the Texans Broncos has
as my attention more than any You've got two very
good defenses against two offenses that are up and coming,
are starting to come into their own. But the key
that was mentioned here, and it's important, Patrick's Ertan is

(01:49:06):
out for Denver. He takes away half the field. Houston
has a very heavy pass They have a pass heavy offense.
Their fifteenth and passing player percentage in twelfth and passing
first down rate, and they get Nico Collins back because
there's certain's injury. I have a feeling Houston is going
to win this game. And the Texans have played much
better at home. They're two and one straight up against

(01:49:28):
the number at NRG Stadium, and the Broncos just two
and two on the road and then struggle actually against
much better defenses. They got healthy against Dallas, but you know,
little sisters of the poor could move on that defense right.
The pass rest for the Broncos against Houston suspect offensive
line is going to be interesting to watch here. But

(01:49:49):
I just get a feeling that Houston, Houston gets their
way on Sundays. That's a game I've I've really got
got my eye on. By the way, not for nothing,
this has come up more than once. I can't really
say that Dodgers have bought the World Series. Yes, they
got the highest payroll between you know, Otani, Betts and Yamamoto.

(01:50:13):
But you know what's interesting is the five highest payrolls
in the league. Two of those teams didn't make the playoffs.
And the reason that's significant to me is because what
that guarantees use in this man's Major League Baseball money
can't buy a title, but at what it does. It
buys regular season success, which leads to more butts and seats,

(01:50:34):
which leads to increased revenues. That's a fact. Okay, So
the Dodgers drew for four million fans this year, but
their payroll didn't guarantee them a title. Like the earlier
callers said, I think it was Allen from Saint Louis.
It was there. It was their lesser paid players. Andy
pie has coming up with a huge catch, Miguel Rojas
injecting life into the team. Tommy Edmund right on down

(01:50:55):
the line. Those role players filled their role. Well, the
pottery has do three pointing three million fans. Why people
come to see Machado and Tatis and Xander Bulgertz. And
by the way of all the things these top five
payrolls have in common, all five have at least two
players with three hundred million dollar contracts. Remember the Mets,

(01:51:15):
they got Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor. They do three
point two million fans. Did you see them in the playoffs.
The Phillies do three point two million fans. They got
Tredy Turner and Bryce Harper, the Yankees. How about those Yankees?
Aaron Judge, Garrett cole Gen, Carlos Stanton. So it's a
little lazy, with all due respect, and I'm not defending

(01:51:36):
the Dodgers. I just I'm spewing facts. Money cannot buy
you a World Series. It buys you regular seed and success,
with which more butts in the seats coming up. I
want to just revisit, ever so quickly, why it's so
hard to win a World Series, why it's so hard
to repeat in a World Series, and why Baseball, of

(01:51:58):
all the major leagues, of all the sports leagues, is
the most difficult to repeat as champion. I'm Bernie Frattlew're
comany a line from the Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio Studios.
Keep it locked. You're listening to the Bernie Frattle Show
on Fox Sports Radio. All right, back at the Bernie
Frattle Show, Fox Sports Radio Comedy live from the Las
Vegas Fox Sports Radio Studios, our annual five hour turn

(01:52:25):
back the Clock Daylight Savings Extravaganza. You've already done it
back East, You've already done it in the Central time Zone,
and fourteen minutes will be doing it here in the
Pacific time zone. In case you missed it, you've been
on Mars or maybe an elongated nap. Dodgers became the
first team twenty five years to repeat as World Series champions,

(01:52:46):
and what could be argued based on the competitive nature,
the drama, the historical perspective, one of the greatest World
Series of all time? A bar Giamati said it best.
The games designed to break your heart. And you know,
in Toronto there's a lot of broken hearts, and it
could have been here, very easily happened in Los Angeles.
And as I've said a thousand times, sports are the

(01:53:07):
greatest reality show. You can script everything but the ending.
So why is it so hard to win back to
back World Series? The belief of all the major American
sports leagues, major League Baseball represents the toughest league in
which to repeat is champion and there are lots of
reasons for this. First of all, baseball is really not

(01:53:27):
a game designed for a short playoff series. It's a marathon.
It's a long way. You play one hundred and sixty
two games for a reason that allows for more randomness
in the postseason, not just simply a fact you've had
people that I did not see this or witnesses had colors.
Tell me. Someone on ESPN said the best team didn't win. Okay,

(01:53:49):
the last repeat champion in two thousand. Since that happened
with the Yankees, Major League Baseball has expanded the playoffs twice.
The latest change came, you know, in this ever of
playoff format see for Until nineteen sixty eight, Major League
Baseball playoffs consisted of the World Series. That was it.

(01:54:09):
You won the American League or you won the National League.
I think they were about twenty teams in league. Then
each of the league's winner would just faced the other.
That's it. Then in nineteen sixty nine Baseball Major League
Baseball added the American League Championship Series and the Nation
League Championship Series, which was essentially a four team playoff

(01:54:30):
that lasted for twenty four years. And then nineteen ninety
three things really changed. Nineteen ninety five, Major League Baseball
added the wildcard team in each league, and in doing so,
they also realigned both leagues to include three divisions, which
resulted in eight playoff teams overall. Then Major League Baseball

(01:54:50):
added a new playoff team in each league with the
introduction of the wildcard games in twenty twelve, before adding
two more playoff teams and instituting what we I now
know as the wild Card Round in twenty twenty two.
Before that, you have to win one game. Now it's
best to three, but the better team, that team with
the better regular season record, gets all three games at home.

(01:55:12):
So therefore, just on the merits to that alone, teams
simply have to beat more opponents to win the World
Series than before. Once again, baseball is a sport that's
not designed for a short playoff series. This allows for
more randomness. You got to beat more teams, more randomness,
more chances for backs to go cold, or you get

(01:55:35):
it now. Baseball is a streaky sport, which you also know,
which means teams can enter a cold stretch or at
the wrong time, have a strong regular season, get a
few days off, and all of a sudden where the
offense go. Baseball is a game predicated on failure. There's
failure every fifteen seconds. Pitcher fails to throw a strike,

(01:55:56):
hitter fails to make contact, fielder fails to make a
play a hit, or fails to reach base, and it
repeats for three hours. How you respond from that? Determines
your success. Look how well the Blue Jays responded from
that eighteen winning, gut wrenching loss, eighteen inning, gut wrenching
loss Monday Night, came back and won the next two. Well,

(01:56:18):
look how the Dodgers responded from that, having to go
on the road and win two straight in a pretty
tough environment. Now, look, it's difficult to rebeat in Major
League Baseball. Again, I think largely because of the randomness
and the increased number of playoff rounds and the general
unpredictability of not just the playoffs, which I've spent most

(01:56:41):
of the time talking about, because the expanded postseason means
a team has to beat more opponents, which increases the
chances of going in a cold streak at the wrong
time or a lesser opponent on a hot streak. A
baseball got a streaky nature in and of itself. When
there's more, there's an incredibly high level of competition across
the board major League Baseball, and that makes it harder

(01:57:02):
for a single team to maintain peak performance for two
consecutive seasons. If you even get to the playoffs, you
still got to navigate the unpredictability of a one hundred
and sixty two game season, the long season, This is
another part of it is a grind. It's a tremendous grind,
and it's difficult to maintain a consistently high level of

(01:57:24):
performance for the regular season and hopefully you get into
the postseason. A team can have an incredible season but
run into a hot team in the playoffs, or simply
have a slump at the wrong time. How many times
have we seen teams are the best record in the
major leagues don't win the World Series? Happen again this year,
it happens almost every year team. By the way, teams

(01:57:45):
that win over one hundred games almost never win the
World Series. And again you talk about the randomness and
the grind of a regular season. All right, So I
was in Los Angeles in May. My wife and I
went to a Dodger game. We saw the Arizona Diamondbacks
weep the Dodgers in May, and all we heard were panic, panic,
is a time for the Dodgers to panic. Then they're

(01:58:06):
talking about there were ten games over five hundred. Then
you got to September, there were fifteen twenty games over
five hundred. Panic, panic, panic, Well, that also adds to
the equation the pressure to repeat success. You have to
remember the quality of teams in Major League Baseball is
higher than ever, especially with the increased parody ever since

(01:58:29):
the had been a free agency. This means a team
you have to overcome much more talented and well matched opponents,
day in day out, over six months, an entire season.
And I got to tell you, baseball is a game
that you play every day and fatigue sets in and

(01:58:50):
that creates a medical check that a mental and physical toll.
Really unlike any other sport. If you're going to repeat
as a champion, that all requires an exceptional amical Why
can't I say the word mental? There's no such word
as menical. Put up with me. You have to have
a through the roof level of mental and physical endurance

(01:59:11):
to keep playing at a high level after the emotional
and physical demands of an entire season. And then you
get to the playoffs, and then you have an eighteen
inning game that takes six hours and thirty nine minutes.
You think you were getting fatigued sitting on the couch
watching that game. How about the players? Freddie Freeman coming
up in the eighteenth inning to hit another walkoff, so

(01:59:33):
because of the randomness, the expanded playoffs along one hundred
and sixty two game season, the fact that the level
of competition, there's more parody than ever because of free agency,
the mental and physical tool and the fact you have
to navigate a long season and stay healthy only to
get to a short season and a cold streak could

(01:59:53):
end it. That's what makes baseball the toughest sport to repeat.
But the Dodgers did it, Hats off, and what was
an incredible and entertaining World Series of the likes. Well,
hopefully we see one like that next year. Coming up,
let's talk about what happened in college football Saturday. This
is the Bernie Frattle Show on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (02:00:15):
You don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (02:00:18):
That's shrud. You heard the man. Bernie Fraddle Show keeps
rolling right along. My name is Bernie fraddlew or Kenedy
Lyon from the Fox Sports Radio studios here in Las Vegas.
Just like that, here on the left coast, the clocks
went from two o'clock AM back to one o'clock. We
are in the midst of our annual five hour extravagance,

(02:00:40):
a daylight saving show. By the way, an hour from now,
our Ohio State insider Don Gessick will join us from Columbus.
Had him on before the season we followed, have him
back on after the Penn State game we saw what
happened wasn't much of a game. Ohio State probably could
have named their score. And that leads me to the

(02:01:03):
subject matter that we usually cover much earlier in the show.
But with such an intense world series, such an historic
world series, in my view, we college football took a
little bit of a backseat, but not too much because Tuesday,
by the way, we'll see the first iteration of what
the twelve team playoff will look like this year. It
is going to be changed. But what were some of

(02:01:24):
the takeaways from Saturday's college football action. Let's start with
Nieland Stadium in Tennessee. Now back and forth. I remember
when I covered Michigan football the big House in ann Arbor.
You know, they'd see one hundred and three thousand, and
Kneeland Stadium would add a few more and they'd go
to one hundred and five. Then ann Arbery would go
to one oh seven, and I think right now I

(02:01:46):
Narburg's like one ten, one eleven. Kneeland might be one
twelve when they sell out one hundred and twelve thousand,
one of the toughest places to play in college football.
But they see defense travels, and apparently the Oklahoma defense travels,
and these Sooners, as evidenced by their game against Michigan,

(02:02:07):
have a very ferocious front seven, and they sacked Tennessee
quarterback Joey Aguilar four times, eight tackles for loss, and
all of a sudden, Oklahoma, I don't know. I can't
say that I'm predicting they're going to win it all,
but on any given day, they're going to be a
problem for people. They picked off Joey Aguilar three times,

(02:02:31):
and he clearly was spooked by Tennessee's pass rush. And
this is the guy who's had real successful he's had time. Well,
he didn't have time against Oklahoma. And the Oklahoma Sooners
get it by next week and they'll lick their wounds
if they have any. In week twelve, they have a
massive blockbuster matchup at Alabama and we'll see how that

(02:02:56):
defensive front does against Ty Simpson and the Crimson tied
with that passing attack. But for now, Oklahoma looks to
me like to be the very real deal, but not undefeated.
But by the way, it's so brutal in the in
the in the SEC we're gonna we're gonna get to
Brian Kelly and the candidates maybe to replace him. And
again half these candidates aren't even interested. But these are

(02:03:17):
the people that are listed for the fodder.

Speaker 18 (02:03:21):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (02:03:22):
Hugh Freeze in his chance for redemption at Auburn isn't
working out so well. Uh. They dropped to one in
five in SEC play and they lose to Kentucky. And
you might, I think you might, You don't. You never called.
I don't. I've never called for anybody's job on the

(02:03:43):
radio or no if I had ever predicted. But it
didn't look good for U Freeze. It just doesn't. The
offense is non existent. And this has been a common
theme all season at Auburn, even though ironically Hugh Freeze
is he has consistently been considered an offensive You know,
I'm not gonna use the word guru, but certainly, you know,

(02:04:04):
his offensive prowess has been his stock in trade in
all those years of coaching. He's got five star receivers
and he's got you know, a quarterback that should have
been good, but the truth of the matter is they
haven't performed. And you know, the good news is Freeze
His buiout is very modest by today's standards. We've already

(02:04:26):
talked about one hundred and sixty nine million dollars of
buyout so far. And look, Auburn fired Gus Melzan a
couple years ago. They're not afraid to pull the trigger.
So it's I don't know. Last Saturday, at this time,
I got a text that they were looking into Brian
Kelly's buyout at LSU that I predicted to be fired
the next day. No, I didn't, but he was. So

(02:04:48):
this is we are in different times. And I laid
out why. Okay, it all started with the transfer portal,
add the nil to that, and now you've got effectively
free agency in college sports. So the collectives and the
donors pulling up the money and as they do, and
we're talking we're not talking chump chains, We're talking millions
of dollars. And so therefore they their belief is we're

(02:05:12):
de facto owners now and we have say we will
give you thirty two million dollars to stack your roster.
But oh, by the way, we don't want that coach here,
you're gonna fire. So moving on ls or USC and
Lincoln O'Reilly had an interesting test in Nebraska. Yeah, the
were six point favorites. For the narrative was you can't

(02:05:33):
lose the Nebraska and your fourth year if you are
Lincoln O'Reilly at USC. And a common theme since USC
made the move to the Big Ten was that quote
the Trojans were simply not physical enough to compete in
the conference, especially if they had to travel east in
the month of November. Well, I would say that Lincoln

(02:05:53):
Riley's team actually and we don't know how far this is,
how long this goes, and how far this goes, but
I would say they're flipping that narrator. They pushed Michigan
around two or three weeks ago and they grinded out
a twenty one to seventeen road win in Nebraska. Why
because they ran the ball and that's what Big Ten
football is, basically running the ball. Not not like it
used to be, but let's face it, it's a staple

(02:06:15):
of their offenses. And if you remove the sacks taken
by Jade Mayava, that's cea average over six yards per
carry on the ground. They ran for two hundred and
two yards on the ground with two scores. Don't look now,
let's see, looks like a Big Ten team. Maybe now.
Their passing attack USS has been one of the best
in the country, even though they don't want a hell

(02:06:36):
of a lot of games or beat ranked opponents, although
that's starting to change. But Mayava completed only nine passes
against Nebraska. In almost every previous Big Ten game, that
would have been curtains for USC, but that wasn't the
case Saturday, Big takeaway. The Trojans ran the ball, only
completed nine passes but one on the road, and that
victory actually keeps the Trojans alive in the playoff race

(02:07:00):
and they got some big games coming up in November
to prove their metal. You know what's interesting is Matt Ruhle,
who was mentioned as part of the you know, one
of the candidates to take over for James Franklin at
Penn State. He played linebacker there and he's a favorite
son there.

Speaker 7 (02:07:19):
I get it.

Speaker 2 (02:07:20):
Matt Reel's a good coach. He just got a new
contract this week. They said, now I don't don't go anywhere, Well,
we'll give you a new contract next week with a
seventy one million dollar buyout. Now, what was James Franklin's
achilles heel couldn't beat ranked teams? What if I told you,
with all the respect Matt Rule, he's two and twenty

(02:07:40):
four versus top twenty five teams in his career, oh
to eight. When Nebraska, now you might get you might
give them a hall past Saturday because his quarterback Dylan
Riola was injured. He left in the third quarter. He
injured his leg, didn't return. The corn Huskers went completely
staggering after that, and USC outscored by two over in
the second half and won the game. Nebraska had controlled

(02:08:03):
the game, they led fourteen to six for most of
the game. But even in spite of that, two and
twenty four against top twenty five ranked teams. We'll see
how the SEC bandwagon keeps going. Now, how about the
antithesis of that and the guy who just finds ways
to win? He said at many times, Kirby Smart, you're

(02:08:25):
gonna have to get us down and kill us. There
may be some truth to that. This is a program
you could trust, is it? But the truth of the
matter is are we overrating Georgia? Okay, another late comeback
over a three and five of three and five Florida
team that just fired as coach. It's clear that Georgia

(02:08:46):
is a good team, but I don't think a great team,
certainly not an elite team the kind that Kirby Smart
used to have on every layer. Well, guess what the
ni L and Transfer portal, let's change that it's created.
They can't stockpile like they used to. Really, what's interesting
is the Gators are going nowhere this year and I
realized it's a classic SEC matchup and it's the world's

(02:09:12):
largest cocktail party, one of the most noteworthy college football
games on the schedule every year. But Florida and Georgia
looked incredibly even through the vast majority of the game,
and Georgia needed some magic in the final quarter to
turn a loss into a victory and still remain in
the race for the conference title games. If you're scoring
at home, that's now three SEC games that Georgia needed

(02:09:34):
late history onics and dramatics to win. After previously needing
a touchdown in the last three minutes to force overtime
at Tennessee and a seventeen oh runn of the fourth
quarter to beat Old Miss. Now give the Bulldogs credit.
They find ways to win. They're resilient. But at a
certain point you have to question whether or not this

(02:09:54):
is sustainable because this is not a team like in
past teams that has he in a build the has
the ability to separate from their opponents. Part of the
reason is it comes down to a defensive line that
gets no pressure on the quarterback. Boy, what a change Georgia.
You wouldn't recognize them. They make one hundred and twenty
seventh nationally in sacks and one hundred and thirty third

(02:10:18):
out of one hundred and thirty six FBS programs and
tackles for loss. That seems impossible when you consider the
history of defensive line freaks that Kirby Smart seems to
always send to the NFL. But those numbers don't lie,
and eventually that may be Georgia's undoing. Now, Texas, A

(02:10:39):
and M in Alabama they are the class of the
conference at this point. Georgia and Old Miss just right
below them. All four, though, could make the college football
playoff field if everything breaks right. However, what's Georgia gonna
do when they get to the playoffs? If they dance
around and play with their food like they have been,

(02:10:59):
they may not long for the playoffs when they get
to the playoffs. If you've followed all that, how about
the ACC? I mean again, this is a weird year.
Clempson loses again Saturday, where they three and six. Now
at the end of November there will be two teams
headed to play in the ACC title game. If you
can tell me that you're smarter than I am, I

(02:11:21):
get it, Big ten. You got Indiana, Ohio State the SEC.
You got Texas A and M in Alabama. Who the
hell is it in the ACC? Somehow? Georgia Tech's a
very good football team, very good and what's been there not?
You know? Haines King the stud running back, great coach.
Then they lose to NC State on Saturday, their first

(02:11:41):
conference loss. Guess who now stands as the only unbeaten
team in league play, even though they also lost to
n C State. It's Virginia and Virginia struggled I think
against Cal Saturday. Cal's not a bad looking club. The
a SEC is better than people think. But who is
going to be in that ACC championship game. Georgia Tech

(02:12:04):
sits tied for second with one loss, but there are
four other teams. Miami, which looked like at least three
weeks ago, the most talented team in the league, is
beginning their annual November crash out. I saw stat Saturday
that Mario Christobal is what four and ten in November

(02:12:27):
in the last two years, four to ten in November
December in the last two years. A lot of chaos
in the AEC. And don't look now, remember all your
knuckleheads were making fun of Texas and arch Manning a
month and a half ago because he wasn't throwing for
eight touchdowns a game. And I get it, I'm not
an idiot. He didn't look good. Something was off. He
should have hit his cutoff. Man he's doing balls and bolency.

(02:12:49):
He did not look good. I contend he had some
sort of physical malady which they weren't reporting or whatever.
I don't have any proof, but something didn't look right
and he was not living up anywhere to the billing
of all world won and done NFL.

Speaker 6 (02:13:03):
I'm out.

Speaker 2 (02:13:04):
What was his third year Heisman Trophy? Okay, he didn't
ask for any of that, but I'll say right now,
if you're a Texas fan, it's been like Sybil up
and down the last ten year or the last few weeks.
But once again, Texas supplied one of the more dramatic
finishes of the week. They had Vanderbilt down and they

(02:13:25):
were trying to step on their neck. Vanderbilt comes back
with a furious twenty one point rilly of their own
to keep their playoff hopes alive Texas. Texas escapes Vanderbilt
with a three point victory at home, and that comes
on the heels of back to back overtime victories against
Kentucky and Mississippi State. The good news, arch Manning looked solid,

(02:13:50):
very good throughout the entire game, three hundred and twenty
eight yards passing three touchdowns. Remember it's only his first
year starting. He had only eight incompletions on the day.
The offense looked yes it has all season versus someone
in a power conference game. Now maybe for the first
time this season, Manning finally got some good protection from
his offensive lineup front. Vanderbilt didn't get a singales sack.

(02:14:14):
But I'm not implying that. Okay, See, I told you
he was a number one pick. Never said that, and
I'm not saying it now. But it's a long way
He's come a long way from he's only getting attention
because of his last name. All right, But it's a
four quarter game. It's always a big butt beewee, it's
a fourth quarter. It's a four quarter game. Vanderbilt out

(02:14:37):
gained Texas two hundred and thirty eight to forty over
the final fifteen minutes on eleven yards per play. Texas
has a good defense. What happened now? They always say
they always remember what you did in November. Well, when
they write the history books, you'll have to remember at

(02:14:59):
Texas won the game, but they didn't finish great. They
hung on. That's gonna have to be addressed again. Texas
has a bye this week before coming up with a
three game stretch at Georgia, Arkansas not so much but
still still the SEC, and then Texas A and M.

(02:15:22):
Those games I will assume. We can't assume anything, but
for purposes of this radio show, we'll assume that Texas
handles Arkansas, but they got to go to Georgia and
then they play Texas A and M. Those two games
will determine whether or not Texas returns to the College

(02:15:45):
Football Playoff this year. Coming up, we're gonna tell you
what happened in Miami, predictable Ohio State? And how about
that kid Fernando, And I don't know what's going on
in Clemson, but it ain't good. These are all stories
you can't ignore.

Speaker 7 (02:16:02):
And what was it?

Speaker 2 (02:17:02):
Right back at the Bernie Frattle Show, Fox Sports Radio
Company Live from the Fox Sports Radio studios here in
Las Vegas, will take up to three am Pacific, six
am Eastern. All Right, what happened to the Miami Hurricanes?
It looks so good, but the annual Miami crashout is here?
You know, it seems like, you know, the fall rolls around,

(02:17:25):
the leaves change colors, you turn the clocks back, daylight
saving time, you get Halloween, you get Thanksgiving, and then
you got Miami losing as a large favorite down the stretch. Inevitably,
they do it every year. Sometimes it takes longer till
late November. But the Hurricanes said, why wait around this year?
You lose as a twelve point road favorite at SMU,

(02:17:49):
the first time SMU is at a home win over
a top ten team in fifty one years. Now, I'm
picking on the Hurricanes. I'm just dating facts. I honestly
thought this team was very much on the short list
to get to the not to just get to the playoffs, well,
maybe get to the final four of the championship game.
Now explain this one to me. Okay. By the way,

(02:18:12):
it's the second setback of the season for Miami, and
I gotta tell you this one really hurt their playoff chances.
The Hurricanes are now an incredulous four and twelve once
the calendar hits November. During Mario Christoval's tenure, Miami's had
great early season results the past few seasons. They show
a playoff caliber team that should be able to compete
with anybody in the country. They got Carson Beck transferring

(02:18:35):
over from Georgia. They got athletes on both sides of
the ball, but they had a bit of an October
swoon and they just simply, for whatever reason, Miami consistently
underperforms this crunch time rolls its head rears its head.
Last year it was a leaky defense they let down
cam Ward. They had the nation's top offense. This time

(02:18:57):
it's Carson Beck's interceptions. He has thrown six interceptions and
they're two losses this season. So I don't know where
the projections will be Tuesday. Maybe we can take a
look at that in a minute here When the first
pass Tuesday twelve team playoff is November fourth, As to

(02:19:19):
what theoretically it'll look like when the playoffs actually start
in late December. But the truth of the matter is
we all know that the you know, it never looks
like that when it starts anyway, right, everything changes by
the way, Ohio State is We're going to have Ohio
State guy on here top of the next hour. I

(02:19:43):
really liked Julian saying, and I didn't know this until
a few days ago. They actually started his career at
Alabama and Nick Saban had him on the scout team
and end of transferred to Ohio State. He is the goods.
And when you have wide receivers like Jeremiah Smith, who
I think should be mentioned in high trophy, I'll ask
Don about that coming up. You had Jeremiah Smith and

(02:20:04):
Carlel Tate as their top wide receivers. Ohio State just
blows people out for fun. They haven't lost the game
since they lost the Michigan last year. They won twelve
in a row, and they're killing everybody all right, Julian
saying what he is doing in his first season as
the starting quarterback is remarkable. Absolutely torched penm State on

(02:20:25):
Saturday through for three hundred and sixteen yards, four touchdowns
twenty of twenty three, and let's face it, he had
more touchdowns and incomplete passes four touchdowns, three incomplete passes.
You knew that Smith and Tate would be the top
receiver due in the nation, but Julian saying was a
bit of a question mark because the first time snarata

(02:20:45):
only because you just don't know, you hadn't seen them.
You heard great things. He had to win the job.
He won the job. What you didn't know might there
be growing pains. You step right out of basically high school,
go to you know, go to the horseshoe, defending national championships. Man,

(02:21:09):
He's had three games where we've completed eighty five percent
of his past is that's the most in FBS this year.
And I haven't seen the growing page. Not only is
he getting the job done for as a first year starter,
he is a star as a first year starter, Julian
sand and he's arguably playing the best of any quarterback
in college football across the board. Although this gentleman from

(02:21:33):
Indiana might have something to say about that. You know,
the moniker I'm about to apply to this gentleman's name,
Fernando Mendoza Heisman contender, possible first overall pick. That was
what they were calling arch Manning. This is what Fernando
Mendoza has done. By the way, he's also got He's

(02:21:55):
a good big brother to his younger brother, Alberta, who's
a freshman backup, and just for fun, he needs to
come up. You see. One of the benefits of watching
your older brother, you know, blow the doors off every
single opponent on the schedule, is that as a younger brother,
you get to get in the game too. In the
fourth quarter and Alberta Mendoza got some action Saturday, Indiana.
You know, oh, just what the hell? Forty eight to ten?

(02:22:16):
They ended up winning fifty five to ten. Albert Mendoza
comes into the game, throws his first touchdown of the season,
and then just for fun, he takes off on a
fifty three yard run. All right, In the last two weeks,
Indiana has outscored their opponents one eleven to sixteen. It's
by ninety five points. I listen, eventually this is going

(02:22:41):
to have to be decided on the field, right, But
I don't know, man, you put Indiana on the field
with Ohio State. We'll talk to Don about that. I
remember last year he was saying they had their eye
on Indiana. Last guar Ohio State did. Now, Indiana was good.
They got to the playoff. You know, the last two

(02:23:04):
long the only two loss is Kurt Signetty has had
at Indiana or to Notre Dame in Ohio State, who
happened to be last year's finalists. And this Indiana team
is better. They showed it at Oregon. They've upgraded a quarterback,
they have two NFL wide receivers, two lockdown corners. They
said they went up to autstin stadium. No one does this.
They set the edges, they were physical, they were violent

(02:23:26):
on defense, and they beat up. They beat up Oregon.
They beat him up. They beat him by ten. They
were seven point underdog. That's what they told us Clemson
might do this year. Look, I would say I feel
bad for Dabble Swiney, but I just I don't. His

(02:23:47):
legacy is secure. But watching him just melt down in
front of the lineman today and the defense on National
TV and God and everybody, I'm like, you know, he's
not dealing with this. Well, remember he.

Speaker 3 (02:24:02):
Had that.

Speaker 2 (02:24:04):
You know that that press conference about four weeks ago.
If you're all sick of losing. You know, I can
go somewhere else, you know, blah blah blah. Well, I
don't know. Are sick of winning? He said, you're all
sick of winning. Yeah, I'm a little speechless about that.

(02:24:25):
But I never bought that Clemson was going to be
a Final four team this year. Duke Duke had their
way with Clemson.

Speaker 9 (02:24:32):
Today.

Speaker 2 (02:24:32):
I think I thought Clemson's down three and six. They've
turned Death Valley into Happy Valley when you go there.
They're two and three at home since as I said
five weeks ago, when Clem when Dapolos Winny said, quote
if Tempson, if Clemson's tired of winning, they can send
me on my way. Well, I don't think they're going
to send him on his way. But Clemson has now

(02:24:54):
lost six straight home games to Power Conference teams for
the first time in fifty five years. They're one and
four at home with two games left, They're going to
have a losing home record for the first time in
twenty seven years. Two and four also their worst ACC
start in twenty seven years. You might want to dial

(02:25:15):
it back, dabble win some games, win some games, and
you were in a society of what you've done for
me lately. So that's kind of what happened in college
football Saturday. We look ahead to Tuesday. Okay, now we
don't know what the committee's going to say. It's a mystery,

(02:25:36):
but I feel secure in the belief that these four
teams will be the top four teams as you project
the twelve. The top twelve, which you don't know is
how far does Miami fall. They've lost twice and lost
to LSU and Notre Dame also has two losses. But
can they rise? Mike, Texas Tech make their debut in

(02:25:59):
the College football Top twenty five. Okay, Vanderbilts had their
day in the sun, but after they lost in Texas,
does that rain on their parade? I believe Ohio State
they're defending CHAMPI. They should be number one. They've been
one of the most consistently complete teams and that season
opening win against Texas. At this point, it's starting to
look better all the time. They also beat the Texas

(02:26:23):
and Texas by which I mentioned in minut Ago beat
Vanderbilt on Saturday, so it helps their playoff hops and
it helps Ohio State's resume. Okay, the only way the
committee might have them at number two. Is you could
say Indiana has the better best win by double digits
at Oregon, and they're statistically comparable. The Hoosiers are number
two and total efficiency ranked in the top six both

(02:26:46):
offensive and defensive efficiencies. That's seeing a lot the Buckey's
toughest remaining game. You all know it. In four weeks
at Michigan. They're trying to avoid a fifth straight loss
to their rivals. In the interim. I think, talk to
down I think they've got Rutgers.

Speaker 4 (02:27:02):
And.

Speaker 2 (02:27:04):
You know, I expect the Ohio State to be undefeated,
and I expect them when they play Michigan, and I
expect them to also be number one of the pole.
I expect Indiana to be number two. Their third road
win of the season on Saturday at Maryland. Indiana has
been one of the most dominant teams in the country.
Regardless of who they play, they kill them. I mean,

(02:27:24):
they're only second to Ohio State, I think, the only
one of the best wins in the country. They beat
Oregon thirty to twenty on October eleventh. That shocked a
lot of people. All Right, if the Hoosiers run the table,
then just simply play for the Big Ten Championship. They're
a lock to be in the College Football Playoff. Even
if they lose in the Big Ten title game, they'll
keep them in contention for a top four finish in
a first round. By there's always that chance they're toughras

(02:27:47):
remaining game. There really isn't one. They play Indiana Place,
Penn State, Wisconsinantin, Purdue, and they all have five losses,
and if you're an analytics wonk, they have a seventy percent,
seventy seven percent chance to win each of those games.
All right, The Alabama Crimson tied. Forget that Florida State game.

(02:28:10):
You can flush it. If Georgia is a top five
team on Tuesday Night, Notre Dame behind him Alabama's best
win with Trump, Texas A and M's top win against
the Irish. The difference is though, tied Calin de Bor
and his team. They've beaten Vanderbilt, Miszoo, and Tennessee and

(02:28:31):
they're all going to probably be top twenty five teams
on Tuesday night. Bama has four consecutive wins, and these
are against teams that the Committee will hold in high regard,
including two key ones on the road. All right. The
difference between a number three seed, which I think Alabama's
going to be in the number four seed. The three
seed faces the winner of eleven versus six. The four

(02:28:54):
seed has the winner of the five to twelve, the
toughest remaining game. When I talked about it a few
minutes ago, they host Oklahoma on November fifteenth. It's likely
That'll be the last top twenty five team BAMA faces
during the regular season. Number four. Give it up to
Texas A and M. There eight, No, they have one
of the best non conference wins in the country. They

(02:29:16):
beat Notre Dame forty one to forty on September thirteenth,
and I realized the win against LSU is not as
glossy as it might have looked. But at the time
you stroll into Baton Rouge and score forty nine points
after scoring forty one at Notre Dame before that, well
you're gonna get people's attention.

Speaker 6 (02:29:34):
All right.

Speaker 2 (02:29:35):
I think Texas A and M is very deserving, gonna
be in fourth the committee. It's gonna be predicated on
how the committee views LSU. That's gonna be a factor
in how they judge A and M's resume because, in
addition to Notre Dame, Texas A and M's wins came
against LSU when they reversed when they were above five
hundred and Mississippi State. So Texas A and M and

(02:29:59):
Alabama ha three road wins each, but Bamas were better.
They came against Georgia Missouri. Those are ranked teams. That's
why I have Bama third and Texas A and M fourth.
Their toughest game and this, believe me, and it's the
same weekend that Michigan plays Ohio State. I believe it's
a Friday game this year, I have to double check

(02:30:20):
Texas A and M visits Texas. Who's going to be
number five? Well, I think it's going to be the
Georgia Bulldogs. Yes, Florida wasn't great, They're not great, but
they were feisty and it's a tough place to play
in Jacksonville, the world's largest cocktail party. Georgia's only lost
three points at home to Alabama. It's No. Number twenty seventh.

(02:30:40):
Their best win October eighteenth against a very good Old
miss team. All right over the overtime win at Tennessee,
Will I think helped separate Georgia from other one loss contenders.
There have been lots of questions about Georgia's defense, but
Florida was only two to thirteen on third down Saturday,

(02:31:01):
toughest remaining game Again, Georgia hosts Texas on November fifteenth.
Ole Miss give it out to Lane Kiffin and by
the way, I wonder if he'll be there next year.
We'll see. We're gonna get to that a little later
about candidates to replace Brian Kelly. Ole Miss really struggled
to contain Lenorth Sellers in South Carolina, at least in

(02:31:23):
the first half of the game. But in the fourth
quarter that defense woke up. They swarm Sellers, Old Miss
pulled away. They will probably be the Committee's top one
loss team. They're gonna be ranked behind Georgia because of
their head to head loss to Georgia on October eighteenth.
And you don't know how the Committee will treat BYU.
They're undefeated the inner week ten, ranked ninth and total efficiency.

(02:31:46):
Ole missus twenty first BYU, fifth in strength to record
slid edge over old Miss, number seven in strength the record.
By the way, Texas, A and M. I believe he's
number one in strength to record. Who is Old Miss's
tough toughest game, Well, that's easy, number twenty eighth. The
toughest remaining game twenty eight at Mississippi State the egg Bowl.

(02:32:09):
That is never a gimmey, never a gimmy in Mississippi State.
It's about five hundred now and the games played at
Mississippi State. Why that's important to will Miss because if
they have designs on advancing in the playoffs, well, if
they lose the Egg Bowl, they're gonna probably go on
the road in their first round of the playoffs insteading

(02:32:30):
instead of playing a home game, or or they run
the risk of being bumped out of the bracket entirely.
All right, coming up, we are going to preview seven
through twelve, And make no mistake, this is a guess
how to HALLOWEENO? How HALLOWEENO? But their educated guess is
based on track records and what the committee is likely

(02:32:51):
to do based on strength the records, schedule and all
the good things like that. By the way, if you

Might be some surprises the playoff the first run Playoff Pass,
First Pass Playoff Run rankings Tuesday night on that other network.
I'm Bernie Frattle, her comedy line from the Las Vegas

(02:33:29):
Fox Sports Radio Studios. Keep it locked and listening to
the Bernie Frattle Show, Fox Sports Radio. All right back
at the Bernie Fradile Show Fox Sports rated the five
hour Extravagans a daylight savings sixtravagans that continues keeps for
rolling right along. Who is the number seventeam? We are
guessing that will be as part of the first Projection

(02:33:53):
twelve team playoff on Tuesday's show, The BYU Cougars or eight. No,
they had a bye week this last week, but I
think they're the well, first of all, they're the lone
undefeated Big twelve team to consider. I mean BYU is
back to back wins against Utah and Iowa State collectively
better than really anything Georgia Tech has done on its resume,
and heading into Saturday, b YU was ranked five and

(02:34:16):
in ESP and strength Strength of record measure. All right, now,
BYU and Texas Tech are the most likely matchup in
the Big twelve title game, but they will first have
to play each other, believe it or not and love
it next week? So b why you will travel to
Texas Tech? And if BYU reaches the Big twelve title

(02:34:36):
game undefeated, they will almost certainly get in that large bit.
I don't see how they wouldn't. They got a week,
they had a week to prepare. The Red Raiders are
coming off a road win against Kansas State next Saturday.
We'll talk about it when I sign on b YU
at Texas Tech. But again we're talking about Tuesday's projection.
This Tuesday, the much anticipated show that is the first

(02:34:59):
pass of you know what the projected twelve team playoff
field might look like come December? And oh yeah, it
never ends up being that, but why not have a
little fun with it. Number eight the Oregon Ducks. Okay,
they're going to be one of the Committee's most interesting
teams to ponder because they've played well, but wait for it,

(02:35:22):
their best win was at Northwestern back in early September,
and that it turns out that's the only team Oregon's
beaten with a winning record. Now, it's not an indictment
against Oregon. They don't make their own schedule, but Oregon's
opponents had a winning percentage of forty seven percent. That
ranks one to one in the country. They also have

(02:35:42):
an FCS win against Montana State. That doesn't mean Oregon
can't get a deep playoff run, but we want to
see how the committee looks at it. Might Now I
got a number eight. Remember they lost to Indiana. That's
the best team they played. They played at home, lost
by double digits. Again, these are facts. Now, Oregon has
many more chances to impress the selection committee. In November.

(02:36:04):
You get to play Iowa, you have to play USC
and they travel to Washington. All those teams have winning
records and likely will be in the CFP Top twenty five.
But the committee doesn't project ahead all right, So wherever
Oregon is on Tuesday, which I believe will be eight,
they'll be only judged by the resume they've had so far.

(02:36:27):
All Right, their toughest game, I'd have to say it's
at Washington November twenty ninth, same day Michigan plays at
Ohio State Washington six and two. They've only lost to
Ohio State and on the road against Michigan, so be
a tough game. All right. We just mentioned BYU in
Texas Tech. Texas Tech we have checking in at ninth
or eight and one very talented team, big and ile

(02:36:49):
money spent this year. They may well be better than
BYU even though E E BYU is undefeated and Texas
Tech has a loss at Arizona State and that's going
to prevent them from being any higher than ninth in
this initial ranking on Tuesday, and they don't really have
a major win to sort of offset that loss at

(02:37:10):
Arizona State. They did have a pretty impressive win at
Utah thirty four to ten back on September twentieth, and
they did beat win at Kansas State Saturday, and that
was Texas Tech's third Big twelve road win. But they
had like a lousy, lousy, lousy non conference schedule. They

(02:37:35):
played Arkansas, Pine Bluff, Kent State, and Oregon State. None
of those teams have a winning record, and so their
strength of record is number sixty. So look, actually it's fourteen.
Excuse me, their strength to schedule is sixty. So the
game against BYU next Saturday at home is looming large

(02:37:57):
for Texas Tech because if they lose but still win
the Big Twelve, then they can be a lock to
go to the playoffs. The problem is, if Texas Tech
loses a second conference game, then they're gonna need help
to reach the Big Twelve championship, So lost to BYU
could really severely damage Texas Tech conference and college football

(02:38:18):
playoff hopes. All right, but if Texas Tech beats b
YU next Saturday, but then they turn around and lose
to BYU in the Big twelve championship game, well let's
still have a chance of that large bid and they'd
be able to claim and win over the eventual Big
Twelve champs. That would help. But again it's going to
determine other games against BYU. All right, Texas Tech ends

(02:38:39):
the scheduled against UC after only four and four in
West Virginia. At only three and six, we have Texas Tech.
But again this is for Tuesday. We're projecting, not looking
beyond that. We got Texas Tech checking in at ninth,
number ten. The Notre Dame fighting Irish we think they'll
check in at ten. They're six and two. They started
out zero and two, which hurt, but they've won six

(02:39:03):
straight and now they're making a case to be that
tenth team. It helps when Miami loses, Georgia Tech loses,
and Vanderbilt loses. That helps Notre Dame a lot. They're
head to head, lost to Miami, and the season opener
is going to be a talking point. It's one of
several tiebreakers. And if the committee, though, feels that Notre

(02:39:26):
Dame is now the better team whether then they have
the autonomy to rank them that way. Notre Dame I
thought was very unimpressive against Boston College. They won twenty
five to ten, but they were playing with their food.
They pulled away. Boston College is one an eight team
and they're typically a very good program, but they're one
in eight this year. Notre Dame's best wins against USC

(02:39:48):
and it could have another ranked opponent on their schedule.
If Pitt somehow becomes a top twenty five team on Tuesday,
remember the Tuesday Show. They don't just project the top
twelve and the playoffs. They do the TULL Top twenty five.
Notre Dame will travel the Pit on November fifteenth. And

(02:40:08):
let's face it, Notre Dame's defense is improving. They have
a very strong running game. Jeremiah Love one of the
best backs in the country. And you know, if you
believe in these statistics, sometimes that are supplerfluests. Notre Dame
has about seventy five percent chance to win the rest
of their games. Toughest game November fifteenth, that Pit, Okay.

(02:40:30):
Pit's an ACC team, a tough team, a tough home team.
They have a bye week, you prepare for it, and
they've won five straight ACC games. Number eleven. The Texas
Long Horns, well, they beat Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech's loss
to NC State. Texas is back in the conversation. They
don't have two wins in what should be top twenty

(02:40:52):
five teams in Oklahoma and Vanderbilt, and they season opening
loss at Ohio State is not going to hurt the
Long Horns in the eyes of the committee. Now, the
loss Florida October fourth is bad, but unlike Georgia Tech,
the Longhorns, well, they have statement wins to help offset it.
And meanwhile, Texas has now won four straight games since
they lost to Florida and they have the rival win

(02:41:14):
again head to head against Oklahoma and the Red River shootout.
That win is looking better every day, especially since the
Sinners beat Tennessee on the road Saturday. So the selection
committee will likely drop Georgia Tech or Miami. They could
ed Virginity to the mix, but I think Texas long.
The Texas Longhorns sneak in and they open up the

(02:41:36):
fray at eleven, their toughest game. We talked about this earlier.
November twenty eighth, they host Texas A and M. It
is not going to be easy to win at Georgia
November fifteenth, but Texas will have a bye week to
prepare for that. So you got a top four rival
on a Friday night in the regular season finale November

(02:41:57):
twenty eighth versus Texas A and M. That'll be this
second best opponent of Texas faces all season, the lone exception,
of course, being their seats season opener against Ohio State.
Finally rounding out the top twelve in the playoffs. This
is all the guests, but it's an educated guess. The
Oklahoma Sooners. The Sooners again, they look very good at
Tennessee Saturday. Their two losses were the Texas and Old

(02:42:18):
miss They're respectable losses. I'll never call them good losses.
No such singers. A good loss in any sport not
buying it good loss. It's like a good kidney Stone.
Not good with their Week two win at Michigan, or
check that it was home against Michigan. He's one of
the nation's better non conference wins, and they really pushed
Michigan around, by the way. The Wolverine's now seven to two,

(02:42:40):
three straight wins. Oklahoma also entered Saturday ranked twenty second
in strength to schedule and number sixteen in total efficiency.
They had to have loss, though, well, that's going to
help keep them behind their rival Texas. That's why I've
got them twelfth in Texas eleventh. If the playoffs were
to start today, they're not. There's a chance Oklahoma would

(02:43:02):
be bumped to make room for the fifth highest conference champion,
which is guaranteed a spot on the twelve team field.
Right now, that team is actually Memphis, but they'd be
ranked outside the top twelve. The toughest remaining game and
this is a tough one week from next Saturday at
Alabama again, the Sooners have a bye week to prepare.
But it's going to be a must win situation for

(02:43:23):
Oklahoma in Tuscaloosis. So we see Ohio State, Indiana, Alabama,
and Texas A and M getting buys. If it started today,
Memphis would visit Georgia, Virginia at Old Miss Notre Dame
at BYU in Texas Tech at Oregon. That rounds out
your top twelve to start the whole festivities again, this
is a guess. It is a educated guests coming up.

(02:43:47):
We take you out to Columbus, Ohio. Don gessik our
Ohio State Insider joints us. We say we have them
after the Penn State game. Well that's come and gone.
Let's tuck Ohio State football. Keep it locked. You're listening
to the Bernie Frattle Show on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (02:44:02):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (02:44:05):
That's right, you heard the man. Bernie Foerls Show keeps
rolling right along our five hour annual Daylight Savings Time
Turn back the Clock Extravaganza. We're come to line from
the Fox Sports Radio studios here and Las Vegas. Would
take at to three am Pacific, six am Eastern. Let's
continue on with college football. Let's go to the epicenter
of the college football universe. They've won twelve games in

(02:44:27):
a row. Look good doing it.

Speaker 6 (02:44:29):
Now.

Speaker 2 (02:44:29):
We had this gentleman on last year. All his predictions
were right. We had them on. At the beginning of
this year. We said, well, have you on after the
Penn State game. That'll be a good point of demarcation
and inflection. Say hello to our Ohio State insider from Columbus,
Don gessig Don. Thanks for getting up early as always.

Speaker 19 (02:44:48):
Thanks Bertie, it's always nice talking to you.

Speaker 6 (02:44:50):
Thanks for having me on.

Speaker 2 (02:44:51):
I was looking forward to this conversation because when we
talked last August, Look, we didn't know what Julian Sane
would be, We didn't know what would happen after the
Penn State game. All those things. Now we fast forward
ten weeks and I want to start with Julian saying,
because Ryan Day said he should be included in Heisman

(02:45:13):
Trophy talks, well, believe it or not, here in Las Vegas,
he's right now the winner or checked out. He's the
favorite alongside of Fernanda Mendoz of Indiana right about two
to one? How is it? Julian saying, is this good?
This fast?

Speaker 19 (02:45:29):
He well a Day has done a wonderful job. He's
been very slow, very meticulous. He started him out against
the Texas game with a very basic game plan, and
then as the games have gone along, he's added more
wrinkles to the offense and allowed him to open up
a little bit. He's really brought him along. And of course,
you know with Hardline as their offensive coordinator, you know

(02:45:52):
he's done a magnificent job too. So he's he's growing
right into the role and he's looked very good, very
very good.

Speaker 2 (02:46:00):
Yeah, no doubt about it. By the way, I don't
mean you don't go down a rabbit hole here. I'm
hearing that Brian Hartline is one of the names mentioned
in the Penn State job opening. You know, if if
you were to handicapped this, what are the chances you
think Brian Hartline might might might strongly consider that if offered.

Speaker 19 (02:46:22):
You know, we're hearing it here in Ohio to that,
you know that he's being entertained not only by Penn State,
but he's had other colleges kicking the tires on him,
and even this time last year he had colleges talking
to him. And you know that's one of the reasons
why they moved him up to offensive coordinator. He had
to do something with him to keep him on board.

Speaker 6 (02:46:43):
He got a nice pay raise.

Speaker 19 (02:46:46):
You know, it's entirely possible that, you know, the TENN
State's going to make a real run at it. I
have to imagine if Penn State actually does secure him
or whoever it is, that Heartline could be the highest
paid coach of a major college football team that has
no head coaching experience whatsoever when he lands.

Speaker 2 (02:47:04):
So I know a little bit about his background, but
I didn't. I didn't does he have any Penn State
ties at all?

Speaker 19 (02:47:11):
We're not aware of any Penn State ties. He obviously
he went to Ohio State and so forth, and you
know he's grown up through the ranks and uh, you know,
we're not aware of any of that. But you know,
the the positive is that you know, not only would
Penn State get him as their head coach, but he
he would be he would be crippling Ohio State's program,
you know, by taking their offensive coordinator. He's a wonderful recruiter.

(02:47:34):
I mean, you could see the types of wide receivers
he's bringing on board, and it's entirely possible, you know,
with the way the college football is these days, if
indeed he goes to Penn State or wherever he may go,
that you know that he could take a couple of
these wide receivers. They have some five star guys, so
there are wide receivers coming in for next year as well.
So you know, if Herdline would go, then he obviously

(02:47:56):
could take some of these some of these recruits with it.

Speaker 2 (02:48:00):
And of course Brian Hartline was a great wide receiver
in his own right. And speaking of great wide receivers,
I saw Jeremiah Smith's one had to catch today. This
guy's constantly open. They're going to need to find a
higher league for him soon. That's called the NFL. But
don he's also forty to one to win the Heisman Trophy.
Why can't a wide receiver, especially if it's Jeremiah Smith

(02:48:23):
win the Heisman Trophy? Is Ohio State doing anything to
promote Jeremiah Smith as an Heisman Trophy candidate?

Speaker 19 (02:48:30):
Well, the good problem that Ohio State has is they've
got multiple candidates that could qualify for that. You've got
downs who's a defensive back who Patricia loves. Now, you've
got saying who you've discussed earlier. That is plan outstanding.
You've got Smith and every play if you follow him
or watch any of the patterns and so forth, he's

(02:48:51):
being at least double teamed on every single play. That's
one of the reasons why Tate is having such a
great year because they're double and sometimes triple team and Smith,
so they can only single cover State and you're seeing that,
so they have multiple candidates.

Speaker 6 (02:49:05):
It's a good problem to have.

Speaker 2 (02:49:07):
Talk with Don Gessick, our Ohio State insider. We had
him on last year heading into the playoffs and Ohio
State won. It had him on the beginning of this year,
and so far down they haven't lost a game since
we've had Yon. We had Young after the Michigan game.
By the way, Marcot calendar, because four weeks from today
we want to have you on after the Michigan game.
We'll get to that in just a minute. I'm glad

(02:49:28):
you brought up Matt Patricia. Clearly, Matt Patricia made his
bones under Bill Belichick as a defensive coordinator with the
pencil in his ear all those years as part of
multiple Super Bowl championship teams went to the Lions. Not
so much bounced around little, but you had a pretty
darn good defense last year with Jim Knowles. He moves

(02:49:51):
on to Penn State, Matt Patricia comes in and his
schemes and his personnel groupings and the way he's able
to confuse oppose teams. He I have to give it
up to him. Matt Patricia has elevated Ohio State's defense
to an entirely different level. Talk about the impact Matt
Patricia has had at Ohio State.

Speaker 19 (02:50:13):
You know, we're hearing that the players love him, and
he apparently really loves Columbus and the whole college environment
and so forth. It's kind of interesting, even at the
press conferences and after the game yesterday and after multiple
grime just you can just tell by looking at a
person when they're happy. He's got a smile and he
says he's having a good time. You know, he's he's

(02:50:34):
he's just having a great time. And and you know
what we were here in too, and you kind of
expect it is that, you know, Knowles didn't leave on
exactly the best of terms from Ohio State from day's perspective,
even though they're not saying anything unprofessional about it, and
he didn't live he didn't leave on the best of terms,
you know, but apparently Patricia's system is much easier, much

(02:50:56):
more flowing. You know, the players just kind of gravitate
into it. But you know he's got to you know,
he's got Downs as basically a coach on the field
helping him and so forth. And you know, he's got
other defensive players and so forth that are doing a
great job. And so you know that the kids are
really enjoying playing for him. He's really enjoying planning for

(02:51:19):
High State and you know it's been it's been a
good flow. But how could you not enjoy coaching at
Ohio State when you've got a corner kopeia of great
players out there.

Speaker 2 (02:51:28):
You know, it feels like, in addition to Caleb Downs
and other potential NFL players of ho State has in
all Americans, he's brought NFL concepts and the way he's
able to disguise looks. Can you speak to that in
terms of the style of play that Matt Patricia is
bought to Ohio State that even elevated what Jim Knowles had.

Speaker 19 (02:51:47):
Well, He's again, it's a more flowing system where the
players he adapts as they go along. He tends to. Yesterday,
for example, the first half was kind of a basic
first half and so forth. And you know, as many
people say, you know, a good coach makes changes from
week to week. He makes his changes at the half,
and so he adjusted at halftime. Penn State scored that

(02:52:08):
touchdown at the tail end of the first half, and
he adjusted. So he makes great adjustments, and so forth
started blitzing a little bit in the second half. And
you know, of course, when Penn State has to pass
on every single down, that's not good.

Speaker 6 (02:52:21):
So you know, he's been adjusting a lot more.

Speaker 19 (02:52:24):
He's given down some latitude to make some changes on
the field, and it's it's it's gonna It's worked out
great for them, obviously.

Speaker 2 (02:52:32):
So your next three opponents are for Due, UCLA and Rutgers.
They all have under five hundred records, and you don't
you don't take anything for granted. But looming large is
Michigan on November twenty ninth. As you know, it's connected
that program for many years. This still beat their chest heavily,
and Dave Portnoy beats his chest heavily. They're right in

(02:52:54):
the wave. I get it. What's the narrative inside the
Avery towert Ohio State about Michigan in the upcoming game
that none of us perhaps here. What is Ohio States
position on that this year is the game will be
played in an arbor. I believe Ohio State will be
a pretty big favorite.

Speaker 19 (02:53:11):
You know, it's interesting too that obviously Ohio State wants
this game, and because of the new playoff format and
so forth, it's not the game that it used to
be back in the day when they had to win
that game to go onto the playoffs for the championship.
If they win it, they certainly want it. They certainly
absolutely want it. You know, Day wants it, even though

(02:53:32):
this year, unlike last year, he won't be under the
gun to win the game or start hearing about to
need and to terminate him or anything like that. But
they absolutely positively want that game. It's at Michigan, obviously.
And the follow up to that is that the following week,
assuming that they win, that they would play in the
Big Ten championship game, which would be in Indiana. Lucas

(02:53:54):
Oil and Indiana would be presumably their opponent there, so
they'd basically playing back to back away games in very
hostile environments.

Speaker 2 (02:54:03):
Well, there's an interesting angle this year too, So Michigan
has a buy coming up. Then they go to Northwestern
and Maryland, both road games to complete their schedule. Now
we don't know what's going to happen in those games,
but for purposes of this conversation, Michigan's five and one
in conference play, they would be seven to one. If
Ohio State runs the table, there'll be eight to no.

(02:54:26):
That means a Michigan Ohio State game would feature an
eight zero conference team Ohio State in a seven to
one Michigan team. If Michigan were hypothetically to win that game,
Michigan would actually advance to the Big Ten championship game.
I believe Ohiose State will still certainly make the playoffs,
but Michigan would advance if that were to happen. Has

(02:54:46):
any of that been talked about? It all?

Speaker 19 (02:54:49):
Very little has been talked about that. On a negative side,
It's been mostly positive. You know, let's beat them, let's
get on and frankly, even if that situation were to happen,
wouldn't be good in the Ohio State size, having basically
a buye going into the playoffs if they don't make
the Big Ten championship game would be very similar to

(02:55:12):
previous years.

Speaker 2 (02:55:13):
Well, and that was your I'll give you credit. That
was your point last year because after the Michigan game,
in spite of the fact that it's a devastating loss,
believe me, I covered ten of those, it's worse than
death because they have to live with it for a year.
The bottom line is this. You aptly pointed out that
still all the rest of Ohio State's goals were against him,

(02:55:34):
and they proceeded to trunce through the playoffs. One of
the things you also pointed out last year ahead of
the curve was Ohio State very much had their eye
in Indiana.

Speaker 9 (02:55:43):
Now.

Speaker 2 (02:55:43):
They handled Indiana last year, and Indiana's only two losses
under Kurtzignetti were two Ohio State and two Notre Dame,
the two teams who played for the National championship. Don
I want to run a couple of things by and
tell me if you do your disagree. I think this
Indiana team is way better. They've upgraded a quarterback, You've
got two NFL wide receivers in Sarratt and Omar Cooper.

(02:56:05):
You got two NFL lockdown cornerbacks, and they just get
after it the way they set the edges and more
violent against Oregon. What kind of challenges does Kurt Signetti
and Indiana present for Ohio State. Because I go on
a limb, I believe Ohio State will be Michigan and
it will be Indiana and Ohio State in the Big
Ten Conference championship game. Talk about your view of Indiana

(02:56:30):
from the isle of the Ohio State prism.

Speaker 19 (02:56:33):
Well, it certainly would be a challenge for Ohio State.
They are able to pass, they are able to put
up points, and it will certainly be a unique situation
the opponents at Ohio State has had up to this
point this year that have not been able to put
up a lot of points. So well, First and foremost
is the fact that a lot of State's defense is
very very good. But the fact that Indiana has the

(02:56:54):
ability to pass. They have stud receivers as you've just discussed,
and you know they'll be able to put up some
point so uh, you know, Ohio State, it'll put up
their normal thirty five. Uh, but it'll it'll be a
real challenge. It'll be more of an offensive game. I'm
sure Patricia would be looking forward to uh scheming against
the A offense at you know, there'll be winging the ball.

(02:57:15):
So it'll be it'll be very exciting for the fans,
and it'll be uh, it'll be a great experience, and
it will certainly be interesting to see how Indiana adjusts
to the pressure of you know, last year, they kind
of got in as an afterthought if you want. It's
kind of a cruel term to say, but they kind
of got in. It was a nice exciting thingle this year,

(02:57:35):
there's gonna have expectations attached to them being in the playoffs,
and so that brings a significant additional pressure that they
may or may not be prepared for, you know, whereas
Ohio State has been in this many times and you know,
so it it certainly will be an exciting game, and
I'm sure that Ohio State will be looking forward to that,

(02:57:55):
especially after the Michigan game, and assuming your thoughts are
correct as our Ohio State thoughts that they would beat Michigan,
you know, hopefully they wouldn't have a little mini letdown
after that game and after finally beating Michigan having a
letdown to put the Indiana game. But it'll be a
very exciting game.

Speaker 2 (02:58:11):
So just to wrap it, up. Your premise is duly noted.
Ohio State lives here. They've been in this moment, I mean,
going back fifty years. This is all really new to Indiana.
As good as they are, as talented as they are.
When you put them on the big stage, we'll see
what happens. Ohio State's been there. Not that Indiana can't
run the race, but they're going to have to prove

(02:58:32):
it like Ohio State did, and I think to your point,
it probably will be a shootout. Indiana's put up some
big numbers this year, so we shall see. So Don,
great stuff again. Mark your calendar four weeks from now,
as we sit here, four weeks from now, we'll have
the it will have the final result of the twenty

(02:58:53):
twenty five iteration of the Ohio State Michigan War as
it were, and we'll have to break it down that Sunday.

Speaker 19 (02:58:59):
Okay, Don Bernie, it's always great talking to you. Thanks
again for having me.

Speaker 2 (02:59:03):
Thank you appreciate it. Don Gessick from Columbus, Ohio, our
Ohio State insider. I remember him last year after they
lost to Michigan, people were saying they were going to
fire Ryan Day. He said, no, that ain't gonna happen.
If you do that, you'd you'd lose a bunch of
recruits and then blow the program up. It would not
it would not be good. Of course it didn't happen,
And he also pointed out that Ohio State still had

(02:59:27):
their goals in front of them, and they certainly did
and they went on to win the national championship in
fine style. He also pointed out that he thought Indiana
was a tremendous up and becoming team in lo and
behold when you know it, it looks like it. You look.
I'm not. I'm not dis Michigan in the least. Do

(02:59:47):
I think they'll beat Ohio State this year in the
Big House? Unlikely. If they don't, it's going to be Michigan.
It's going to be Ohio State in Indiana. And that's
going to be the matchup that Donald was looking at you,
so we'll know for we Now coming up, we got
to get to this. There's a bunch of candidates that
allegedly are listed to potentially replace Brian Kelly. Now I

(03:00:11):
mean a bunch lsu is a very sought after job
and you get the governor involved. Now, they just fired
the athletic director. Could it be any more of a
mess there? But it is a hell of a job
for the right person. I mean, but you got to
be the right person. The last three at Orgonon, less Miles,
and well, the last three coaches won a national championship

(03:00:35):
in their fourth year. Actually the last three national champions
it was Nick Saban at Orgeron and less Miles. The
point of the matter is this, this was Brian Kelly's
fourth year and it didn't happen. So whoever gets there
is going to have those expectations. And with all these openings.
Florida Penn State Man, oh Man. If you miss any

Back of the Bernie Fratle Show. Fox Sports Radios. The
five hour Daylight Savings Time, Turn back the Clock and
Stravaganza continues. We do this every year. I think it's
my fourth year doing this and no better appropriate bumper.
Then that's exactly what happened to Brian Kelly. Hit the road,
jack and take your fifty three million. As LSU looks

(03:02:05):
for a new coach, and believe it, there's no shortage
of candidates that have been mentioned. Top of the list
Lane Kiffin. He's going to be the top target mostly
for all the marquee openings because he's a longtime head coach,
knows what it takes to compete in the SEC. He
understands how to develop a quarterback, and he has a
personality that kind of fits the narrative right. He's unabashed,

(03:02:29):
He'll stir the pot. He'll probably be a top choice
at Florida as well. The question is he's kind of
got a maid there, he's kind of got made there
in Oxford, Mississippi. I think he really wants to go.
I don't know, man, you can't improve unhappy. I think
he's happy there. He's comfortable there. And oh, by the way,
he's got to be very comfortable. Who's doing the hiring.

(03:02:49):
Who's doing the hiring at LSU. I know that they
got rid of their ad, and they've they've named another
gentleman who's been a former player there, etc. The governor
is involved, and all right, you get the picture at
the end of the day. I'm if I don't do
I think it's gonna be Lany Kiff or no, neither
do I think it will be Dan Lanning, who's also mentioned. Okay,
they fired their ad Woodward. He would target a big name,

(03:03:15):
and Lanning is the big name I think he would
have targeted. But Woodward's no longer there. And again there's
questions why would Dan Lanning leave Eugene, Oregon for a
job like LSU. He's got a massive buyout and and
you know it's I think Dan Lanning's staying. And from
what I'm here and he may have told people he's
going nowhere as well. Now this third name you may

(03:03:37):
not jump at you immediately, but if you stop and
think about it for a minute, you'll remember the name.
He's currently the Buffalo Bill's offensive coordinator. It's Joe Brady. Now,
I'm guessing the LSU boosters are going to be maybe
ruffling some feathers to try to get this guy to
yes return to LSU. He was part of one of

(03:03:58):
the greatest college football teams of all time. That's the
Joel Burrow team with those great wide receivers. National Championship,
no question. Joe Brady's a bright offensive mind. He's been
up for several gigs in the NFL in many years
recent years, and it'll be a top candidate I think
in the NFL this year. Would he consider a move
back to college Ala Jim Harbaugh. Now, it's possible. I

(03:04:23):
think LSU will inquire, but I don't think the school
will get him, no matter how much money they throw
at him, because I just don't think he's going back
there again. These are guesses now. Jeff brom the Louisville
head coach, he's royalty in Louisville. He has his entire family,
tide of the university. He's on the list of potential candidates.

(03:04:46):
But again, would he give up everything he has to
coach in the SEC at a place that could, you know,
maybe give him a national title. Louisville's an excellent football program,
They're not going to win a national title. Would Brohm
consider it? I think he'd consider it, all right, So
that's a maybe. I think Brady's no Landing's no Kiffings. No.

(03:05:09):
How about ht Lashley at SMU fresh office solid win
at home against Miami Saturday, is a twelve point home underdog.
He's a tremendous twenty five and foreign conference play. He
lost his first ACC game just a couple of weeks ago.
He already has one College Football Playoff appearance. He knows

(03:05:29):
how to recruit the state of Texas, and he knows
how to recruit the Deep South. And he has previous
experience as an assistant at Auburn. Now, if Auburn moves
on from Hugh Freeze, and there's no guarantee they will,
I gotta believe lastly will be a top choice at Auburn.
Arkansas is his alma mater, But things are set up

(03:05:53):
much better to win at LSU, would lashly go. He's
very comfortable though in Texas, but this could be one
of the few jobs that's once in a lifetime that
turns his head. So he listens and realizes it potentially
gives him the best chance to win a national championship.
But see, that's the fatal trap that Brian Kelly felt
and fell into. He got to the championship game twice

(03:06:15):
at Notre Dame. He said, boy, when get the LSU,
with those resources and those athletes in the South, I
can finish what I started at Notre Dame. Didn't work?
Did it didn't work? Now here's another terrific coach. He's
at Missouri, Eli Drinkwitz. I would say, right now, if
he would be off for the job, I just check that.
I don't know if anybody's gonna be off for the job,

(03:06:36):
but I would say he'd be a choice after Lane Kiffin.
If Kiffen decides he doesn't want to go there, okay,
so he'd be a second choice. But he's not only
built Missouri up into a quality top twenty five contender,
but he's really been ahead of the curve on nil
and he manages the transfer, portable portal, as good as
you can, as good as anybody, and he knows how

(03:06:57):
to develop quarterbacks. He's also quite a bit different than
Brian Kelly, and he is a type of guy who's
got the opposite of Kelly's personality. We're talking inside the
building with players and outside the building in the community.
So that's something that might resonate well with the faithful
there at LSU. Can't rule that out. But you just

(03:07:21):
don't know Willie Fritz. He is, you know, almost seventy
years old, but he's been a winner everywhere he goes,
and he you know, his first year at Houston not
so much, but Houston's done well. His second year he
made two lane relevant, he took the school to the
Cotton Bowl in his first powerful job. He proved he

(03:07:44):
could recruit with anybody. And he's got one of the
top quarterbacks in the country next year committing to go
to Houston. So I don't Willie Fritz. I think would
be crazy to go down to LSU in the middle
of that mess. And I think he's got some good
stuff with Houston. But I really think, though, again, if
you heard what that governor said, our goal is to

(03:08:06):
get I forget what the name of the representative was
the former player there. He said, our goal is for
LSU to be in the College Football Playoff every year.
There's twelve teams that get in. Now we want LSU
in there every year. Well, I think with Wullie Fritz
as their coach and his offensive innovativeness innovation, I think

(03:08:28):
they would be Do we dare mention Dabbos Sweeney? What's
the old sitting. If you can't beat him, join him.
Dablos Sweeney is just one of three active coaches with
a national championship, and he would check actually a number
of the boxes that LSU is looking for in terms
of their foundations and building and rebuilding a national championship

(03:08:50):
caliber football program. Now, I think Dablosweeney would have a
little bit more convincing to do at LSU than some
of the other candidates I've mentioned. And he'd also have
to relinquish some power and bring in a strong general manager,
which is the new rage now in college football to
help build his roster. He'd have to be a lot
more willing to utilize the transfer portal than he does currently.

(03:09:14):
He's been kind of dragged into that kicking and screaming
I need to bloom is off the rose right now
with Dapolsweeney. But at the same time, again, he's got
national championship resume. That speaks a lot. Okay, a young guy. Now,
if I had my choice of any of these guys,
this might be the guy I would select. And it's

(03:09:37):
Kenny Dillingham out of Arizona State. And you saw what
they did last year in the playoff. No one took
him seriously and yeah he had camp scattible. They took
Texas to task, could have easily beaten Texas. See Kenny
Dillingham is the prototype of what it's like to be
a head coach in this current era of college football.

(03:10:00):
He is genuinely passionate about fostering and building relationships and
bonds and relating to his players and his community and
the faculty in staff. He understand what it takes to win.
He's done tremendously well on the field, turning around to
Arizona State and making Arizona State into a genuine national power.

(03:10:20):
Look that got to the playoffs last year. Okay they
had they could have easily beaten Texas. I already said that.

Speaker 6 (03:10:26):
Now.

Speaker 2 (03:10:27):
The one drawback though, is if you're LSU and you
want Kenny Dillingham. He grew up in the Phoenix area
and he went to school of Arizona State. However, to me,
he seems like enough of a go getter that a
job like LSU might only tap you on the shoulder
once in a lifetime and he might think hard about it.

(03:10:47):
I don't know, but I gotta tell you, I think
that's a guy who wouldn't who wouldn't and I say
this ever so carefully piss everybody off, like Brian Kelly
ostensively did not even knowing all the players' names. It
just at the end of the day they said it
just wasn't a fit. Period. Now the list gets a

(03:11:08):
little wacky here because somehow Lincoln Riley is on the list.
See before LSU hired Brian Kelly, Lincoln Riley, who I
believe was still at Oklahoma at the time, he was
one of the people LSU had their sights set on. Okay,
do they take a second bite at the apple and

(03:11:28):
try to maybe take a run at Lincoln Riley even
though he's just now seemingly extensively trying to figure out
and navigate these big ten waters be he went to Nebraska.
We'll see how they finished their season. You got a
waste to go right and no by no stretches is

(03:11:50):
USC a lot to make the playoffs. So we'll see. Look,
there's no denying Lincoln Riley is a great play caller.
He would probably bring the offense that excites LSU people.
But defensively, what's been there. Bugaboo. Defense is a little
better at USC this year than the past years, but
it was a low bar and that's always been his achilles.

(03:12:11):
Now here's a couple of names under the radar, really
under the radar. The head coach of Tulane, a guy
by the name of John Thumral. All Right, I would
say there will be some candidates that eliminate themselves for
various reasons, or perhaps there is a There are schools

(03:12:33):
that would be averse to hiring a coach from Tulane
to take over a big time gig. But from people
who know John Sumral, they say he is ready for
a big time SEC gig. He has a reputation as
a tremendous recruiter or a relentless recruiter. He knows the
southern region and remember Tulane's right there in New Orleans.

(03:12:54):
He's already down there, and he has recruited and coached
and presided over the hard nosed teams that would frankly
represent LSU.

Speaker 6 (03:13:05):
Well.

Speaker 2 (03:13:07):
He's a native of Alabama, and one thing he has
that I think LSU needs is he's a defensive minded coach.
I mean ulics. He just gave up forty nine points.
Let you know, the other day to Texas Saint It
just didn't go well, did it. So don't don't go
to sleep on someone under the radar like a John

(03:13:28):
Sumral who's done well Tulane, great recruiter, knows the region,
you know, develops hard nosed teams. He's a defensive minded coach,
and he's already there in New Orleans. Finally, I don't
know about this one, but Dugan nuss Meyer, who's currently
the Saints' offensive coordinator, has been around the program quite

(03:13:50):
a bit. He's the father of if that name sounds
for mayor, of course it does. He's the father of
the current LSU starting quarterback Garrett Knutsmeyer. And I think
Doug Messmeyer has a good intuitive feel for what works
and what doesn't work at LSU. In the bat Rouge, area.
He's won a Super Bowl, and he's won a BCIs
title as an assistant, and he's bounced around between college

(03:14:12):
and the NFL. But he's no stranger to the SEC,
and he could view this as one of the spots
where he would entertain to go as a head coach.
Not At the end of the day, I've really, honestly
no idea if every one of these names I just mentioned,
and there's two, four, six, eight, ten, thirteen names, have

(03:14:33):
no idea if any of them actually end up getting
hired at LSQ. How many even get interviewed. How many
are even interested. I can tell you right now two
or three are interested at all. But this is a
big time job. When you got the governor involved, all right,
all right, this is going to get fun to watch.
College football is so crazy now. I don't know whoever
could have predicted this. No one predicted this, But we're

(03:14:55):
just in an era now where ten coaches are fired
before October at one hundred and sixty nine million in
buyout clauses, just because it's frankly insanity. I don't know
how you build continuity. Guys come and go so fast.
It's a revolving door. You know there'll be another twelve
hundred players under the transfer portal this this January coming up.

(03:15:16):
We wrap up the show and I want to go
back to the NFL. I'm calling this segment before you
fire away.

Speaker 9 (03:15:22):
I got seven or.

Speaker 2 (03:15:23):
Eight matchups that I want to share with you some
tidbits before you fire away and bet on these games
which now kick off in about seven hours and twenty minutes,
well not all of them, Summer Sunday night and one
a month Onn's Monday. I'm Bernie Friddle, will come to
your line from Las Vegas, Fox Sports Radio Studios. Keep
it locked. You're listening to the Bernie Friddle Show on
Fox Sports Radio. We're wrapping it up on the Bernie

(03:15:44):
Frattle Show Special. Thanks to my producers Mark and Brianna
keeping us glued together and on the air these past
five hours for the fourth year in a row. Now
I've completed another five year turn back the Clock Daylight
Say extravaganza, and I didn't get to all my topics.
There's some WNBA negotiation stuff and they just extended their

(03:16:08):
deadline another thirty days and we'll see how that goes.
I don't know what's gonna go on I bet I
did research it. It turns out the WNBA, from the
best I can see, to not make a profit again
in twenty twenty five. But they want more money. Maybe
they work something out where start this as a baseline
and if you grow from here, the players go along
with it. Remember if they lost a billion dollars in

(03:16:30):
twenty eight years, They've never made a dime, so I'd
be very careful. Although things they say are looking up,
that's what they say. By the way, the NFL just
had their full meetings. I'll get to that next week.
They talked about the Pro Bowl games, an eighteen game season,
the Tush Push TV viewership, you know, bad money, all
kinds of stuff I didn't get to. I had a

(03:16:52):
small update on the NBA gambling probe update I didn't
get too. But we'll get to all this stuff in
future shows and we'll keep you post it. One of
the things I do want to get to because we
have another exciting NFL slate kicking off here in about
seven hours, in twelve minutes, and I'm calling this segment
before you fire away.

Speaker 6 (03:17:14):
Be aware.

Speaker 2 (03:17:15):
So the Colts are at Pittsburgh, and the Colts are
a short favorite leave three and a half. And it's
interesting because every week people want to say, are the
Colts for reel or the Coats for real? Are the
Colts for real? Well, you tell me. They lead the
NFL and scrimmage yards, rush yards, touchdowns points. But detractors

(03:17:39):
is always big butt. Detractors want to say that, well,
but five of their wins have come against losing teams. Meanwhile,
the Steelers have all but been terrible on defense. They
have allowed the most passing yards, they're thirtieth and total
defense and lasting past defense. There's no acting back to
Steelers here. But I don't know that. I want to

(03:18:01):
lay three and a half on the road and watch.
I'll look up, it'll be halftime and the Colts will
be at twenty one to six. Again, the Colts are
for real. People don't want to give them their props.
But they aren't for real, I think. But Noitherord. You
dress them up as a road favorite in Pittsburgh. That's
a horse of a different color. By the way, it's
getting a little cold there, and they're a hothouse team.
Remember there are a dome team going outside in Pittsburgh, Carolina.

(03:18:23):
At Green Bay, the Packers thirteen and a half point favorites.
I would never lay thirteen and a half in an
NFL game ever. Now, Brusshong returns for Carolina, Green Bay
maybe three and oer at lambeau Field, and they're averaging
twenty seven points per game at home. But meanwhile, a
Carolina win would give them the best start of their

(03:18:45):
franchise since twenty nineteen. They'd be five and four and
Josh Jacobs has scored touchdowns now in fifteen of his
last sixteen games. Atlanta at New New England. Well, the
real Falcons, please stand up, Drake May. It appears to

(03:19:07):
me is absolutely the real deal. Now, I'm not gonna
call him Josh Allen or I'm not gonna yeah, I'm
gonna compare him to Josh Allen. That's what I'm gonna do, Okay,
because with all due respect, I know he hasn't been
in league nearly as long. But what can he do
that Josh Allen does? And New England's a four and

(03:19:28):
a half point favorite home, and Mike Rabel has completely
changed the culture that franchise. I said before the season,
I said, watch out for New England. They're gonna be
for real and watch out for Arizona. I think they're
gonna be make some noise. I was half right by
the way Kyler Murray's out. Arizona's let me down. They
look very weird to me. And they're not a game
I'm talking about on the on this list, Okay, they

(03:19:53):
they just you really don't know what you're gonna get
with Arizona, and so there's no point in in. Really
I ignore them when it comes to handicapping because they're
at Dallas on Monday night and Dallas can score forty
points against anybody, but they're only laying three and a
half against Arizona, So go figure. And I don't think
Kyler Murray's gonna play. But believe it or not, Ue
Jacobe Brisset looks better. But why am I talking about Arizona.

(03:20:17):
I'm talking about Drake May and New England. He's got
a one to weight passer rating in seven straight games.
The New England Patriots have won five in a row.

Speaker 6 (03:20:28):
Now.

Speaker 2 (03:20:29):
Michael Pennix, I believe is slated to return for Atlanta.
But Atlanta is the beacon of inconsistency. They've scored ten
or fewer points three times this season, and you better
hope Kirk Cousins doesn't come in the game, because you
talk about ninety million dollars, they might as well lit
it on fire. At least it would have kept him warm.

(03:20:49):
So Atlanta, I don't know really what to make of
that game. They could surprise you at New England. It's
kind of a debt number four and a half. You
land in that five range there about. Again, it's not
a game I am involved in.

Speaker 3 (03:21:07):
Now.

Speaker 2 (03:21:07):
Kansas City Buffalo, this should be one of the more
intriguing games of the day. Kansas City all of a
sudden now look like And by the way, them and
the Lions are the two odds on favorites to win
the Super Bowl. And it's not front running because Kansas
City got Rashid Rice back and he's in two games,

(03:21:30):
sixteen receptions and three touchdowns since returning. Since twenty twenty,
the Bills are four and one versus the Chiefs and
regular season games, but not so much in the playoffs.
Now they're both perennial division champions, but ironically neither one
is in first place right now. Both teams really kind
of need this game. Will it change their fate in
the poleseason?

Speaker 17 (03:21:49):
No?

Speaker 2 (03:21:49):
They're just gonna have to win games on the road
to go to the Super Bowl. Minnesota at Detroit. I
think this is a bawout. Now, you don't make a
lot of money by laying lots of points in the NFL,
but I think the Lions can win this game by
double digits. JJ McCarthy will return to the field and
make his third career start. The Lions have won their
last five meetings versus the Vikings and are averaging thirty

(03:22:09):
nine points a game at home. I think the Lions
are loaded for Bear in this game, and I think
they romp. Speaking of Bears, the Bears visited Cincinnati. Both
teams or check that the Bears. Actually, the Bears lead
the league and their two and a half point favorites
on the row. Can you imagine it. They lead the
league in takeaways, but none last week versus Baltimore. Meanwhile,

(03:22:31):
the Bengals blew a fifteen point lead versus the Jets
last week, and Cincinnati could be without Joe Flacco and
Trey Henderson. Now, the Bears stink in the red zone
and they commit way too many turnovers, but Cincinnati's given
up at least twenty seven points in five straight games.
I don't want anything to do with that game. Finally,
Seattle is three to zero on the road and Seattle

(03:22:55):
is at Washington. The Commanders or Land two and a half.
They rank seven defensively, and they're coming off a buie.
The question is can Jadeen Daniels resume his prowess on
the ground and get him running again. We shall see
a tough card this week in the NFL. There's some
things you might want to know before you fire. It's
gonna do it for our five hour extravaganza Daylight Savings,

(03:23:18):
Turn Back the Clock Show. We'll see you next week,
back my regular time. Up next, the Great Andy Furman
