Speaker 1 (00:00):
Please, you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
You know the NFL. We're onto them, Carrie, We are
onto the National Football League. They can try to say, Hey, everybody,
enjoy Chiefs bills for Week nine. Everybody enjoy that game.
We're gonna hide Jaguars Raiders right underneath you. No, we
got you still covered. Jaguars fans, Raider fans, don't worry
about it. We got you covered. There's only three games
(00:25):
in this late window. Plus the craziness Montsie gave you
a glimpse of just a little bit of what happened
earlier today. Plus there's a trade deadline coming up in
the National Football League. A lot to hit on here
on end Zone Radio. How's your Week nine going, Carry Roads,
Which nine is going well?
Speaker 3 (00:40):
I mean, watching a couple of games here that were,
you know, I thought would be potential trap games for
certain people. We had the Panthers and the and the
Packers go. I didn't think the Panthers were going to win,
but I thought it'd be competitive. And then I knew
that Bears and Cincinnati game would be a good win
just because both defensive suck and so there will be
a lot of points.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
And they did not disappoint.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
Let's go a thousand points that game, so I think
it was pretty pretty exciting.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
They did not. In fact, you're going to break down
how in the world the Bengals allowed the Bears to
score that touchdown that gave Chicago not only the lead,
but allowed them to cover on the road in Cincinnati.
As Caleb Williams had himself a day as Manzi told you,
there's a lot to get to, yea, including this titanic
(01:26):
matchup with the Bills and Chiefs. So we're sitting here
right now, it's seven to seven, early in the second quarter,
the game is in Buffalo. Bills go down score right away.
Chiefs end up having an answer. But this is a
This is this is the Manning Brady that's been thrown
out there. This is the young Akman. However you want
(01:50):
to put it. This rivalry right now is a rivalry
because of how entertaining it is. So while the Chiefs
have had the upper hand, I have no problem calling
it a rivalry because the Bills have gone to Kansas City,
They've won a game. The playoffs have been their bugaboo.
But this is as good as it gets right now
in the National Football league with these two teams.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
Yeah, Bills and Chiefs is always competitive, and I think
we've been spoiled by two quarterbacks that come out and
know that they have to kind of outduele each other.
And you'll hear throughout the week and all the media
and all the press stuff that they give out as
players that they're not going against each other, they're going
against the opposite team.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
Right.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
That's kind of like the status quo thing to say.
But when you're coming into the season and you're looking
at schedules and you see the Chiefs if you're the Bills,
or the Bills if you're the Chiefs, and you see
that game, you know that the quarterback that plays the
best that game is probably going to win that game.
It's not like one of those things where it's the
old school Buccaneers and Trent Dilford is going to go
out there and he's going to just do what he
(02:50):
needs to get done and the team's going to win.
That doesn't happen between these two, and so I think
that's the most exciting part about it. A lot of
times in these games, Webber has the ball last, and
so that's what makes it makes it exciting.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
If I were to say to you, who's the good
guy and who's the bad guy in this rivalry? Yeah,
because I do you think that there is. I think
that there is a feeling. Who would you say, is
which oh the bad boys? The guy that always wins
and that's watching Home.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
Yeah, I agree, that's the feel right, Like it's always
you know, when you win enough in that league, you
get haters inherently, and so Chiefs and Mahomes have done that,
you know, in abundance, and so yeah, Mahomes saying, I
mean my home seems like doctor Evil and uh and whatever,
good guy superhero you want to think about? What with
(03:37):
the Alan Uh? You know that's what you give it
to you. Yeah, it was good.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
I was gonna called Josh Allen Superman, but I but
I the Superman comes out on the better end of it,
and they haven't. And so I think that to that point,
I agree as well. I think that there is, you know,
talking about just going to Buffalo for the first time
a month and a half ago and seeing seeing that
atmosphere really brought it home.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
But on.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
Bill's Mafia is a phrase that is used in a
way where it's kind of not funny but in a
playful sort of way, but there is something about it,
and they are just extremely extremely popular. And I am
one of those who have also kind of gotten bored
(04:24):
with the Chiefs, wanted some different blood. It's just the
same old, same old that feels with Kansas City, and
now that the Chiefs have kind of hit their stride,
they're kind of back to being that for a lot
of people. And so I think when you're sitting down
and watching this game, while there's a lot of implications
that can go a long ways, not only with these
teams and what's happening in their division, but overall with
(04:45):
the conference, but it's also an opportunity for the Bills
to try to knock off the Chiefs from that oh hoham,
here we go again.
Speaker 5 (04:53):
Role.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
Yeah, they're in a prime spot to do that.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
I think the Bills came out in this game obviously
prepared the script work. So they came out with the
script plays and went down and scored a touchdown. Now
it's going to come down to the end game adjustments,
and we know who is the better in game adjustment
guy here, and that's Andy Reid, right, So we'll see
how this game turns out. I mean when I look
at this, when I can look at this game coming
(05:17):
to Sunday, I thought the Chiefs wild win by round ten.
But the fact that Buffalo came out and executed so
well in their first drive.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
We'll see.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
But like I said, as it goes on, the Chiefs
are going to make adjustments, and right now they are humming.
He has all his weapons in place now and so
it's going to be scary for the rest of the league.
And both of these teams right now are in battles
to win that division. So this game is important.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
Yeah, Denver got a win today against Houston, which didn't
look like it was going to be the case until
the Texans completely let Denver steal that game in Houston.
We'll get to that later on in the show. Here's
the other thing with at least these squads, like specifically Buffalo.
So Buffalo loses that Oliver last week to tourn biceps injury,
it's going to be done for the regular season. The
reports were that he could come back from for the
(06:02):
playoffs and would be a wild card game, a divisional
game if the Bills are in that contest, but they
were already thin up the middle. Like if there was
a point on Buffalo's defense on the defensive line that
you liked, it was what they had at the edge
to maybe get after the quarterback. So you can I
think Buffalo can be had when you run the football
against them.
Speaker 4 (06:22):
Now.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
I thought there was an opportunity last week for the
Panthers to do that, and then they lost forty to nine,
and we see the Panthers bounce back this week with
a win against Green Bay something else we'll dive into.
My point carry is I look at the Chiefs and
while they seem to be hitting on all cylinders, there's
no Isaiah Pacheco this game. There's still a lack of
running game, but they're finding a way to use Rashi
Rice in red zone situations. Yep. Richard Smith's been a
(06:46):
name that's popped up. They continue to mask their lack
of running game, and it looks like the Chiefs are
the Chiefs of old. Even with somebody that could sit
there and get chunks and chunks of yards for them on.
Speaker 3 (06:58):
The ground, they're going to have to running back. I
know it's the trade deadline. I know there's been rumors
with the Chiefs and breathe Hall. If they get a
guy like that in there, in that system, with everything
else they have, they will be right there at the
top of the at the totem pole again to possibly
win it again. I mean it looks good right now again.
Patrick Mahomes is looking like the MVP of old. Yeah,
(07:20):
and I think that's what we haven't seen in the
last couple of years. But I still think for them
to win, they're going to have to have a guy
that they can rely on to.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
Run the ball. And I'm not gonna sugarcoat. I couldn't
stand on the Chiefs treated Rashi Rice his comeback in
a way and making him more of a martyr than
the actual true victims that were involved in the reason
why Rice got his six game suspension. With that being said,
the way that he's come back in two touchdowns in
his first game, had another one last week against the
Commanders and scored their lone touchdown today, he has benefactor
(07:52):
and that was something that I wasn't sure on how
he would transition because he got hurt early last year
and had a great start to last year before he
ended up getting injured, but then wasn't available to the
Chiefs for the rest of the way. So I had
some questions about Richie Rice, and he's been incorporated with
absolutely no hiccups whatsoever. As Harrison Bucker just kicks a
(08:13):
field goal to go up ten seven. But that's something
that they've worked through seamlessly so far.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
Yeah, I mean, even though he was suspended, I don't
know the details of if he couldn't be around the team,
and I would probably think that he could be around
the team. So if he was, he was already kind
of not forgotten. He was gone, but he wasn't forgotten,
and I'm sure he's been intertwined with what they've been doing,
and so adding him to the mix. A guy that
(08:37):
doesn't seem like he's even though he made I guess
he doesn't seem like a diva on the field. The
woman I watched him play, so I don't really know
him or know that situation. But when I watched him,
he looked like he's just part of the part of
the guys, and he's kind of you can just put
him in the mix and he's all over the field.
He's not like an X guy. Did you have to
get the ball to a thousand times? Because they are
creative getting him the ball, So I'm not really taken
(09:00):
the back, taking the back by how seamlessly he's been
put into that, into that offense, but it just opens
everything else up for everybody else, because everybody else goes
back to their regular possession.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
Matthew Stafford hit Pooka Nakua for a thirty nine yard
touchdown pass and catch extra point is good. Rams lead
the Saints by a score of twenty to three, and
the Saints just went three and out on the ensuing
possession and they've punted it back to the Rams. We
you know what point of the season we've reached. What
is it we've reached the Taysom Hill is taking snaps
(09:31):
at quarterback portion all the season with the New Orleans Saints.
They've made a change at quarterback, the older yet rookie
Tyler Shook comes in and gets his first start. But
trying to find answers with anything, Saints just don't have
him right now against the Rams.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
Yeah, I mean, putting Tyler suck as his first thought
against the Rams defense is probably not ideal for him
and not out not ideal for that offense in general.
But this is a game where the Rams instead have
come out and taken care of business. Right now, they
are twenty to three, and you know Taysom Hill is
just if they're going to that point, you know they're
in trouble. So yeah, because he's not the answer there either.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
There was gonna be a point that we knew this
change was going to be made last week against the Buccaneers.
Shook ended up replacing Spencer Ratler. Whether it was warranted
or not, because the Saints didn't do anything last week
against Tampa, you just knew this time was going to come,
Especially for a team that's going to be picking very
likely in the top five, maybe top three, maybe top
(10:29):
one of the NFL Draft. You're going to have to
make a decision on your quarterback. And I think that
the Tyler Shook this is I don't know if it
was worth taking a second round pick for the Saints,
who have so many holes to pick when you knew
it was going to be a quick fix. But since
he ended up using that selection on the quarterback, you
(10:51):
better at least give him a significant amount of time
to see how good and how good he isn't and
so he's going to go take some months. They've got
some games against Titans later on, we've got your Jets
coming up in the contest. That's a lost sense, that's
a lost science. But you're gonna have to get a
look at Tayler Schuck at some point. Yeah, one hundred percent.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
I mean, you dropped the guy in the second round
where you just took a quarterback in the draft before
with Spencer Rattler. He wasn't a high pick, but he's
a guy that's gotten planned time and was named your
starter coming into the season. So I guess they've seen
enough of him and now I got to see what
Tyler Suck has. But again, he's in a situation where
that team isn't good, and I think a lot of people,
include myself, thought they'd be the worst team in the NFL.
(11:30):
But you know they've got some competition for that spot
right now. Yes, but we'll see, but we'll see.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
How it goes. The Speaking of competition, it's a competitive
gaming to the Jaguars and Raiders scoreless as they have
reached just past the two minute warning. Raiders are in
Jacksonville territory. Trevor Lawrence through an interception in the end
zonees they were driving down the field, so Jaguars missed
an opportunity to score early, and no one's putting any
points on the board in Las Vegas. The Zeros look
(11:57):
like a lot of bank accounts that people have when
they go to Lot Vegas. So the scoreboard that you
have with the Raiders, he Bills have the football back there.
Nearing midfield, Chiefs kick the field, go buy Harrison Bucker
up ten seven with eight forty five to go until halftime.

know if any of them are gonna match the upset
that we saw earlier. Today, a double digit underdog went

into a storied facility and came out of victor. We'll
focus on that next tease. Carry Roads. I'm Dan Byer.

Center motion right to left. It's another handoff to throw
a hole head into the end zone and he throws
the ball into the stands and does a buffalo bounce
after a three yard touchdown run to retake the lead
for the Bills.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
Back to Dan Bier and carry Rhodes WGR five point
fifteen the Bills radio network with that highlight fourteen to ten,
Buffalo on top of Kansas City.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
Five minutes to go until halftime. In that contest, the
Raiders are in the end zone and just like the
Jaguars Raiders game would they missed the extra point. Brock
Powers though touchdown passer eight yards out from Geno Smith
Daniel Carlson missed the extra point, so it's six nothing
Raiders on top of Jaguars again. About twenty seconds to
go until halftime, and the Rams thought they got into
(14:47):
the end zone. However, a face mask penalty and offensive
face mask penalty keeps on them out of it. So
it's going to be a second down and fifteen from
the Ram or for the Rams from the Saints twenty
one yard line. But LA up twenty to three in
this contest with a minute nine to go until halftime.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
Man, it might be the second offensive face mask penny
I've ever seen. And so I'm actually happy, even though
I'm a ramp guy and I won the score, I'm like,
I'm excited that they called on the offense.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
Dereck Henry.
Speaker 4 (15:17):
No, I'm joking.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
I am not mister conspiracy theorist, but I will say
when they're up twenty to three, they're like, well, maybe
we can call one now, you know, maybe we can.
Speaker 4 (15:26):
Call one now.
Speaker 2 (15:27):
There was a huge upset in the NFL earlier today
with the Panthers taking on the Packers. Let's focus on that.
Speaker 1 (15:35):
Now it's time for the NFL on Fox Focus.
Speaker 2 (15:42):
The final from Lambeau was sixteen to thirteen in favor
of the Carolina Panthers, who improved the five and four
Green Bays now five to two and one after the
last second victory. The man on the call had him
Amen had it for Fox Sports. And I'll tell you what.
This Carolina team resilient after a rough seague last week, Adam,
how did they get it done today against Green Bay?
Speaker 8 (16:03):
Well, it certainly helps that Bryce youngback in the fold
at starting quarterback. That's point number one, point number two,
and we talked with Dave Canalis about this over the
course of the week. This game had to play out
a very specific way. It had to almost follow a
very specific script, because if it doesn't one or two
(16:24):
things go green Bay's way, this is probably a minimum
of field goal victory, maybe a touchdown victory for green Bay.
They survive, they get out of there ri five or
six to one and one, and the Panthers got to
limp back to Carolina at that point. It had to
follow a script to a t. It had to be
a very low possession game. NFL averages ten and a
half possessions per game, only seven possessions for green Bay's
(16:47):
offense in that game is one of the more high powered,
explosive offenses in the league. You had to make sure
that you made the right decision to make sure you
take an extra possession away. The coin puss suddenly becomes
more of a factor, believe that or not. The wind
was a factor today. So you have to push green
Bay into positions in the red zone where they're forced
to have to kick instead of go for the end zone.
(17:10):
And they did that a couple of times. Five red
zone trips for green Bay today. Only one touchdown, and
you had to possess the ball, which means you had
to run the ball effectively, and the big decision to
go back to ric o'dowdell, which despite what was clearly
a bothersome groin bother some lower half, the guy still
ran for one hundred and thirty yards and carry the
ball twenty plus times. Everything had to go to a
(17:33):
key and Green Bay still probably had a shot, and
it shot itself from the foot with a handful of
penalties today, so everything had to fall into place today,
and it was one of those games where it did.
You still had to execute a hard kick forty nine
yarder going in the direction you wanted to go in
but still facing the stip wind, and a rookie made
a forty nine yard field goal on the road in
(17:55):
a tough place to play, and everything fell in place
for Dave Cadallas to get at what I think is
probably the biggest Carolina win in something like five or
six years, and certainly his biggest win at the coach
of Carolina.
Speaker 3 (18:07):
Yeah, Adam, I'm excited about the Panthers and I think
they're team that's gonna contend all year. I mean for
a playoff spot in NFC in my opinion, But I
want to switch it to the Packers, because I'm really
perplexed about this team, right and their good moments, they
look like the best team in the league, and then
they come out and obviously they're supposed to win this game.
They were two touchdown favorite. What's the I mean, can
(18:29):
you tell me about the tenor of that team and
like what is their identity? Because I don't really know yet.
Speaker 8 (18:35):
So we think of them as an explosive pass game, right,
and we should also know like the injuries that took
place today were brutal, Like when Matthew Golden's not available
for a chunk of the fourth quarter, When Christian Watson,
who just came back last week, is in and out
of the lineup in that fourth quarter, whether it's for
medical purposes or whatever, he is in and out. The
Tuncker Craft injury, which kill Matt Lafoor said, does not
(18:59):
look good. You know, this is a burgeoning star at
the tight end position in the NFL Like that injury
obviously makes a huge impact, but that's where they make
their money. Jordan Love has leaned on guys for yards
after catch. He's leaned on guys for big catches in
double coverage. Those weren't there today, so they lean on
(19:19):
Josh Jacobs I thought actually had a very effective game
on the ground. Yeah, but you're just trying to generate
some kind of rhythm. And I want to believe that
this is going to continue to be, assuming they're healthy
or going forward, still an explosive passing team. But if
you don't have some of the weapons that they've been
leaning on, and you're going to shoot yourself in the
(19:39):
foot with all these penalties, they have to clean that up.
And this was about as poorly executed of a game
as I think we've seen. Matt LaCour was very conservative,
whether that the injuries played a factor, whether it was
the decision making early of Jordan Love that played a factor,
and you get credit to the Carolina defense for forcing
him into tough spots. They didn't play like what we're
(20:00):
used to seeing. Like the offense we saw seven nights
ago in Pittsburgh in a tough atmosphere against Aaron Rodgers
and that group where they're putting together big pass play
after big pass play. Love is playing with no fear.
We didn't see that today, And I'm with you. I
think identity carry is the word that I think all
of us are going to be looking at. And now
all of a sudden, I mean, you get, you get
(20:22):
the extra day because they're playing on Monday night next week,
but you're playing the playing the raining champs now, and
now this isn't I don't want to assume anything about
look ahead. That's for Matt Florida to figure out in
his own locker room. If guys were thinking about something
going forward, if he was being a little bit conservative
because they're thinking about next week, that's up to him
to answer. I didn't necessarily feel that. I just think
on a on a in a vacuum. Watching today, it
(20:45):
was very atypical of what I think we're used to
seeing from Green Bay's offense this year. A team that
leans on explosive, explosive plays in the past game.
Speaker 2 (20:54):
We just didn't see it today, Adam, I mean joining
us here on Fox Sports Radio, and I just I
want to piggyback off of that because Kerry mentioned it earlier.
I texted a buddy today and said the same thing.
I know you said that Matt Lafleur wasn't talking about
luc ahead, but it's short. It seemed to be a
trap game considering what they did last week, and we
were all about Rogers, Rogers Rogers against his former team,
(21:16):
and the way Green Bay played in the second half
shutin made it feel like they had they had something
to prove against Pittsburgh and the guy who led the
organization for a decade and a half plus. But could
trap game be a part of it? I know the
egos are on the horizon, but I just don't know
how they don't carry the momentum from last week into
this week.
Speaker 8 (21:36):
I think when we think about the phrase trap game,
it's an easy thing to put on. Well, you're playing
a not very good team relative to what you think
they are, and we've got a better team or a
really good team coming up. So that's where the phrase
trap game kind of falls into play. I think there
is more science to it. We're thinking about, all right,
what type of defense are they playing. They're playing a
banged up team. Yeah, they have a good defensive lineman
(21:59):
and Derek on a really good corner in JC Horn.
But you feel that you have advantages in multiple spots
offensively against Carolina's defense, So maybe you play or play
call a little bit more conservative conservatively, you don't think
about being as aggressive. That's maybe where the correlation can
take place, But that's the hard thing to assume. I
would have to hear it straight from Matt Lemore, him saying, well, yeah,
(22:22):
we were more conservative in our play calling because we
know we have to save something for Jail Carter and
Jordan Davis and a really good secondary. Like maybe that's
where that thinking comes into play, where you go, hey,
maybe we can save some because that is something that
NFL coaches absolutely do. Play callers absolutely save tricks in
(22:42):
the bag for big games.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
Right.
Speaker 8 (22:44):
We saw it with the Eagles earlier this year, just
thinking about Philadelphia. They saved a bunch of stuff for
really good defense in Tampa Bay and they busted out
these fake push pushes and did it multiple times. Like
coaches do, think about the big picture, and yeah, you
might run into a game like today where Airline plays
it perfectly down to the strip and that's maybe where
you start to think about conservative play calling and things
(23:06):
like that. But I would have to hear it directly
from him. That's where I think maybe the correlation comes in.
You're playing a defense that just gave up two hundred
rushing yards. They really leaned on Josh Jacobs, who, again
I think had a very efficient day in the rue game.
They're not typically explosive, but they're fairly efficient when they
run the ball, and I think Jacob's had a pretty
solid game. I wonder if maybe that's where you can
(23:28):
make the correlation, because I don't want to assume anything. Yeah,
I don't want to just a result in the correlation,
but I do think that is something that coaches absolutely
do across the NFL, where they go, all right, I'm
playing a really good defense. Next week, let's save some
things in the bag. We got to play Philadelphia.
Speaker 2 (23:44):
Well, I'll tell you what. The NFC North and now
has gotten really interesting that I look like the idiot.
Earlier this week, I said, the NFC playoff picks are
a set. The seven teams are there Carolina's Yeah, yeah, boy,
do I look like an idiot?
Speaker 8 (23:56):
All these all these years, dB, nine weeks that have
the season had eight weeks ago? You think, I mean,
come out, my boy?
Speaker 2 (24:04):
Three of the NFC West. The Eagles will win the East.
It'll be the Packers and Lions and who ever wins
in the South. Adams you got to know. Dan's very logical.
Speaker 9 (24:12):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
If it looks like a playoff team, it's a playoff team.
It's not. It's not. That's what it may shock you, guys,
but I've been wrong before. Adam. We appreciate it. Love
talking to you, Safe travels and can't wait to chat again. Man,
Thanks so.
Speaker 8 (24:25):
Much, Hey time, boys, appreciate you.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
All right, he's carry roads. I'm Dan Bayer. While we
were chopping it up with Adam, Aman, we've had some
history in the NFL, and we've got a team in
the end zone with that and so much more. Moncy
Belangios joins us in Monton.
Speaker 9 (24:42):
All Right, guys, history, yes, history was made not long ago.
Speaker 4 (24:47):
Sixty eight yards away.
Speaker 1 (24:48):
It's up there, it's up there, and it's good.
Speaker 2 (24:53):
It's good for sixty eight.
Speaker 5 (24:54):
How was Fox to be on the call as Cam
Little of the Jaguars hit a sixty eight.
Speaker 9 (25:00):
Yard field goal right before the half.
Speaker 5 (25:03):
An underwhelming game. Aside from that, Raiders are up six
to three at.
Speaker 9 (25:06):
The hat exactly.
Speaker 5 (25:10):
You never know what's gonna happen. Welcome back Brock Bowers.
He is the guy who caught the touchdown pass from
Geno Smith extra point no bueno, and that's how we
have the score of six three. Matthew Stafford is killing
it in the first half for the Rams against the Saints.
He's already thrown for two hundred and fifteen yards and
three touchdowns and they're just headed to halftime on top
of the Saints twenty to ten.
Speaker 9 (25:30):
Chiefs and Bills. We were all looking forward to this one.
Speaker 5 (25:32):
Bill's opening drive, they got in the end zone, Josh
Allen connected with Dalton kincaid, and then the Chiefs responded
Rashi Rice with a rushing touchdown. Bill's back in the
end zone again, a rushing touchdown this time, and now
they are up on the Chiefs fourteen to ten, two
minutes to go in the first half.
Speaker 9 (25:48):
We'll see how this one ends.
Speaker 5 (25:50):
What happened earlier today, You guys really did discuss already
the Bears and the Bengals. I can't, guys, after the
Dodgers last night, why am I still feeling.
Speaker 9 (25:58):
Nervous when you know what I mean.
Speaker 5 (26:00):
I wanted it to be an easy day, and then
Bears and Bengals kept me at the edge of my seat.
Chicago survived forty seven to forty two. The Bengals are
the first team since the nineteen sixties to score thirty
eight points or more in back to back games and
lose both games.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
Are you?
Speaker 9 (26:16):
I Am serious? They can't stop a nosebley.
Speaker 5 (26:18):
Oh, I think I could have tackled a little bit better.
They're at the ankle Loveland, Colston, Loveland.
Speaker 4 (26:23):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 9 (26:24):
I would have I was doing whatever.
Speaker 2 (26:26):
Yeah, I would know you have. I would have done whatever.
Speaker 9 (26:31):
The game's coming to the end. I'm doing whatever.
Speaker 2 (26:32):
What is the real I'm doing it.
Speaker 9 (26:34):
I'm doing it. You can't trip them. I'm tripping them.
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (26:38):
Like all the things, I'm stopping the play is what
I'm doing. Chargers defeated the Titans twenty seven to twenty
and the guys, we're cursed.
Speaker 9 (26:45):
I don't know what to tell you.
Speaker 5 (26:46):
Chargers left tackle Joe Olt left the game with the
high ankle sprain. NFL Network is reporting that they believe
this time, because he just suffered this against the Giants
not long ago, could require.
Speaker 9 (26:57):
A procedure to repair.
Speaker 5 (27:00):
He's gonna go on Mr Undergo an MRI on Monday
to confirm, but that is the initial belief.
Speaker 9 (27:04):
The NFL Network with the details there.
Speaker 5 (27:07):
Patriots survived twenty four to twenty three against the Falcons.
Welcome back Drake London who had three touchdowns in that one.
Speaker 9 (27:13):
Steelers with a twenty seven to twenty win over the Colts.
Speaker 5 (27:16):
The last two games. Steelers is given up what thirty
three plus points?
Speaker 9 (27:19):
Today?
Speaker 5 (27:20):
They had three interceptions against Daniel Jones. Vikings topped the
Lions in Detroit twenty seven to twenty four. JJ McCarthy
and looked too bad out there. He threw for two
touchdowns and had a rushing touchdown forty nine. Ers crews
passed the Giants thirty four to twenty four, and the
Broncos walked it off with the field goal to beat
the Texans eighteen to fifteen. And the big upset. You
guys were just talking about it. Panthers with a sixteen
(27:41):
to thirteen upset win over the Packers.
Speaker 9 (27:44):
Happy birthday, Jordan Love Oops, not so much so much.
Speaker 5 (27:48):
Delis Kumblano's college football Auburn has fart haad football coach
Hugh Freese.
Speaker 9 (27:52):
They lost last night to Kentucky touch to three.
Speaker 5 (27:54):
That's what happened to you, ten to three, ten to three,
and Nebraska quarterback Dylan Royola out for the year because
of a broken fibula he suffered Saturday night against USC.
Speaker 2 (28:04):
It's a weekly tradition for Monci to tell us a
college coach got fired. It is. It really is every
week every week now, right, it's Brian Kelly. Last week.
A couple of weeks ago, it was James Frank. Yes,
I'm a good luck Sean.
Speaker 9 (28:17):
What can I say?
Speaker 2 (28:19):
The Bills are knocking on the door. Brook took it
down to the one yard line. Maybe better that he
didn't get in now. He just kind of pushed Josh
Allen and if he can, although that didn't work for
the Bills against the Chiefs. The last time question is
was James Cook down by contact? The referee said that
he was at the one yard line, but Cook may
(28:39):
have been on top of a body, so something too
at least for the officials to look. The Chiefs took
a time out because there's a minute thirty five left
to go in the first half, and Carrie, I don't
think that James Cook was down.
Speaker 3 (28:55):
I think he's still up. It just depends on if
they stopped it though. If they bow a whistle for
progress and that's it. Yeah, it's we got to say forward,
forward progress.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
Remember last week in the two pushes, it was quite
the conversation it may have been. Yeah, if James Cook,
it did seem like it took him a while to
stretch the football out. Yeah, they are calling it short,
so there is no review. But second down and goal
and then we'll tell you about the record setter. It
is Josh Allen being pushed in and I'm not sure
he got in. I don't think so. And the initial
(29:26):
spot is just short. So now on third and goal,
Josh Allen may want to just do the quick put
the ball over the goal line. The sixty eight yard
field goal by Cam Little the now longest in NFL history,
breaking the sixty six yard the mark set by Justin
Tucker of the Ravens when Justin Tucker did it against
the Lions at Ford Field. You remember it was off
(29:49):
the crossbar and then ended up going over. Cam Little's
had some room to spare. Yes, it did. Could have
been good from seventy Chris Meyers the one on the
call with that with the record breaking kick, but I
mocked Raiders and Jaguars for not giving us any excitement,
and here we got a brock Bauers touchdown and now
a sixty eight yard field goal from camb Little.
Speaker 3 (30:10):
Don't want to sell it, Dan, it was a brock
Buyers one hand it touch down and then a sixty
eight yard field goal.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
And that's some that's a maccient in that game out
there in Vegas. And now after further review, Josh Allen
did get into the end zone. So it is a
touchdown run for the Bills and Allen he didn't get
it on the first push, but it was on the
second push that he ended up getting in. What's interesting
about this is a lot of times they say they
(30:35):
have to see the football. Well, Josh Allen securing it
with two arms, and the replay you don't see the football,
but the football is underneath his arms. So at least
letter of the letter of the law would say maybe
it shouldn't, but you know that the football's there, and
so he ended up crossing and so the touchdown is good.
As for the extra point that is also good. So
it's a twenty one to ten able to lean out
(30:56):
by the Bills against Kansas City. And now we'll put
the Chiefs in mode.
Speaker 3 (31:00):
Wow, I mean the Bills coming out and putting up
points that this is the one thing that I was
worried about coming to the game. Like I said, the
first scrypt, Fine, you go score seven points after you
scripted it up. But like the Bills are still making
it roll, and where the Chiefs defense has been pretty
dominant the past couple of years, there may be some
questions on that.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
Side of the ball as well. Yeah, I don't think
that the Chiefs the numbers come out and say that
the Chiefs defense has been better the last couple of weeks. Yeah,
when you face the Raiders and the Commanders without Jayden Daniels,
those things help as well, for sure. He has Carry
Roads on Dan Byer. It is end Zone Radio here
on Fox Sports Radio. Got a big thanks to Adam
(31:40):
Amen who joined us earlier. Hit Adam up at Adam Amin.
That's where you can also find him on Instagram aside
from x on next you can find Carry at Carrie
twenty five Roads and find me at dan Byer on Fox.
Manci Milanios has got to look at your fantasy numbers.
Some of the hits from the early games is the
second half is underway in Las Vegas with the holding
that six to three lead on the Jaguars. Yeah, the
(32:02):
Saints got on the end zone at the end of
the first half against the Rams. This was a face
mask penalty away from being a twenty seven to three game. Yep,
And now it's twenty to ten. So the Rams had
a touchdown taken away and they missed the field goal.
Saints countered and got their own score. So we got
a ballgame in La between the Rams and Saints, which
was once a division rivalry. Who did that touchdown? Dan? Tyler?
(32:25):
Shook from where you played? An eight different schools carry
and one of them was Louisville? Or again, who else
is there? Texas Tag? How do say all that?
Speaker 1 (32:34):
Dan?
Speaker 2 (32:34):
You know what I was getting at Again? He replaced
Spencer Rattler, and Shoo's older than Rattler. But shucks the rookie.
That's today's NFL. He's carry. I'm Dan. It's end zone
radio on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (32:48):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (32:52):
Saints having shucked to throw, they need six shuck throws hot,
but Jawan Johnson who takes it in for the touch, zum.
Speaker 10 (33:01):
Juwan Johnson's This changes the whole complexion.
Speaker 4 (33:05):
Of this football game.
Speaker 10 (33:06):
With seven seconds caught it about the four, took it.
Speaker 1 (33:09):
In for the touchdown once again. Here's Dan Beyer and Carrie.
Speaker 2 (33:16):
Rhodes WWL and the Saints radio network with that highlights.
They're about to start the second half in La Rams
up on the Saints by that twenty to ten score.
Cam Little's just kicked a thirty three yard field goal,
not even half of what he kicked earlier, an NFL
record sixty eight yard are At the end of the half,
the Jaguars have pulled even with the Raiders six apiece.
(33:37):
Playing in the third in Las Vegas, and the Chiefs
have pulled within eight of the Bills a nineteen yard
field goal. Kansas City gets all the way down to
the one yard line, but three unsuccessful attempts to get
in the end zone. They end up kicking a field
goal with just six seconds left in the first half.
So it's twenty one to thirteen in favor of Buffalo
on top of Kansas City.
Speaker 3 (33:56):
I'm impressed with the way Buffalo Bills the defense is
playing right now. We've had questions about them their secondary
and then you said it losing it Oliver last week.
I mean for them to come out and put this
performance together, It's been pretty clutch bit time performance so far.
Speaker 2 (34:11):
You know, we saw you know, we'll dive into the
Bears and Bengals coming up after the top of the
hour in Monts. You'll have a bunch of numbers from
that game in our fantasy hits and misses. I'm sure.
But if you look around the National Football League and
you see like what the Bills did last week to
a Panthers team, when you get James cook cooking, yeah,
the lack of the big name wide receiver in Buffalo,
(34:32):
it's never a conversation. But when you don't have the
running game, and you don't and you have Josh Allen
trying to do everything, then we start talking about Josh Allen,
the turnovers and the big name wide receiver. But they
have proved, and this isn't anything that's profound, but they
have proved that they can be the best offense in
(34:52):
the National Football League. It's just sometimes a matter of
if they want to be, and today they're showing it
against Kansas City. Stick to your formula.
Speaker 3 (35:00):
I know a lot of times you want to go
out and you know, make the impressive shot plays and
the exciting football that you know, we cover and we
like to see clips of on social media. Right, But
to be a good team, good football team, you got
to be balanced. They're definitely balanced. And we've seen in
the past where teams can win without the dynamic number
one receiver, the divo receiver, and so for them they're
(35:23):
from seems pretty simple.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
Let cook cook, and I agree with you. These carry roads.
I'm Dan Byer, Iowa. Sam's hanging out, as is Shay Morgan,
guard or executive producer. Let's jump to the news desk, Monty.
Here are some fantasy numbers. Fantasy and missing the multiple
Halloween costume mons.
Speaker 9 (35:45):
You know, I went from making bad calls to taking balls.
So that's what I did. Did you see my first costume?
That's why I which one I was?
Speaker 2 (35:58):
I was a referee, Yes, I did.
Speaker 9 (36:00):
I was a referee, So I was out there making
bad calls.
Speaker 2 (36:03):
You know about referees, Like referees have a jersey number.
Yeah right, yeah, take one gues So what Manzi's jersey number?
Speaker 4 (36:10):
First of all, first one guest.
Speaker 11 (36:12):
First of all, Oh, you know what it is. It's
not sixty seven, but there I know you said, you're
very warm, yeah, very.
Speaker 5 (36:23):
Warm, you know It's funny because when I this, I
wore this costume in high school and I pulled it
out and I was like, I cannot believe I wore
this in high school with that number.
Speaker 9 (36:34):
But here I am, I.
Speaker 2 (36:34):
Don't know appropriate for teens. That's what I'm said.
Speaker 9 (36:37):
I didn't realize it when I was in high school anyhow.
Any who, and then my other one, Ah, okay, it
doesn't matter. Fantasy is let's go there.
Speaker 5 (36:45):
We can talk about Holliway costumes for the rest of
the show if we need to.
Speaker 9 (36:49):
Caleb Williams is your top quarterback of the day. Forty
four points is what he gave you.
Speaker 5 (36:55):
He threw for two hundred and eighty yards three touchdowns.
Speaker 9 (36:58):
He also caught a touchdown pass.
Speaker 5 (37:01):
As Ben Johnson likes to bring out those trick plays,
and he did that.
Speaker 9 (37:04):
Today for the Bears. Who survived? Who did they survive
against the Bengals.
Speaker 5 (37:09):
So Joe Flacco is actually your second top quarterback of
the day thirty eight points.
Speaker 9 (37:14):
He threw for.
Speaker 5 (37:14):
Four one hundred and seventy yards career high who were touchdowns,
and he had an interception.
Speaker 9 (37:19):
But those two guys top quarterbacks so far. Maybe Matthew
Stafford will be there later today.
Speaker 5 (37:25):
When it comes to your running backs, Christian McCaffrey thirty
three points. He had twenty eight carries for one hundred
and six yards and a touchdown. He also had five
catches for sixty seven yards.
Speaker 9 (37:36):
The next guy, Frekal dowt All the Panthers.
Speaker 5 (37:38):
Say, we're gonna give you the green light to Barber,
You're gonna come in second. Twenty eight points for Dowdle
twenty five carries, one hundred and thirty yards and two touchdowns.
Speaker 9 (37:47):
Just an honorable mention.
Speaker 5 (37:48):
And I don't even know how to say this guy's name,
but I'm sure Dan will running back for Kyle Monanga
and I mini, that's not it it that's.
Speaker 9 (37:59):
Not a non guy Monan Guy, Anan guy.
Speaker 2 (38:01):
He's the guy.
Speaker 9 (38:02):
He's the guy.
Speaker 2 (38:03):
I mean, a lot easier to say without these interruptions.
Speaker 9 (38:06):
Really, he's actually coming in at number three. This is
a rookie twenty two points. He had twenty six carries
for one hundred and seventy six yards. Not too shabby.
Speaker 5 (38:14):
When it comes to the wide receivers, welcome back. Drake
London for the Falcons thirty eight points today. He had
nine catches one hundred and eighteen yards and a hat trick,
three touchdowns. T Higgins and that lost thirty three points
for the Bengals. Seven catches, one hundred and twenty one
yards and two touchdowns. Those are some of your fantasy
hits for the day.
Speaker 2 (38:34):
You fantasy is hiding it from us. Here's it, Ben,
it's Mahogany.
Speaker 9 (38:46):
No, that's not it.
Speaker 2 (38:47):
I know it's not that the Raiders are hocking on
the door. Brock Bauers getting a reception down to about
the three yard line. So just so we're clear, a
first and goal situation. If Ashton gent is able to
get into the end zone, that would mean the three
players that I traded away a week and a half
ago and the worst fantasy trade ever have all scored
(39:09):
in this late window. So there's that going for you
knocking on the door. But the Raiders a welcome site
with brock Bauers. You mentioned the one handed catch that
he had for the touchdown earlier. Now get some knocking
on the door. Been out for a while, Raiders really
really needing him back to spark their offense. They could
also be a team that could be trading pieces ahead
(39:30):
of the trade deadline. Jacobe Myers has been out for
a while, but getting Bowers back is huge. Oh yeah.
Speaker 3 (39:34):
I mean we saw any did week one when he
was healthy. He's been injured since then and so he's
been limited. But now he's healthy and you know he's
doing Brock Bowers things.
Speaker 2 (39:44):
The other game has the Rams on top of the Saints.
We told you twenty to ten Rams right now, out
gaining the Saints three hundred and three to one hundred
and twenty three, statistically dominating the Saints right now, but
just a ten point game. And I hate to say
that this is the NFL, but when we talk about
that face mask play earlier that wiped points off the
(40:07):
board for the Rams and then they missed the field
goal and have the Saints to go down and score,
that's the NFL. We've talked about how fickle it is.
Speaker 3 (40:14):
When you got a team down, you gotta put them away,
and if you don't and give them a little light,
you know, anything can happen in that league.
Speaker 2 (40:20):
And finally, with the Chiefs facing a fourth and goal,
carry Roads got his way and Andy ended up kicking
the nineteen yard field goal. Oh school coach, That's all
I'll say. And he was right. Take the points because
field position is not going to matter. At the end
of the first half, Andy Reid did the right thing
and his Chiefs are down eight to Buffalo in the
game of this late window. He is carry Rhods. I'm
Dan Byer. The crazy scene in Cincinnati on how and
(40:43):
how one NFL team let victory slip away? That's next
week nine is here and the Rams are knocking on
the door again. They're up ten on the Saints, as
MONSI told you, Yeah, they're at the half in Buffalo
and the Jaguars and Raiders. It's pretty in its own way.
Carry Rhoads. We'll come in.
Speaker 8 (41:00):
Hit.
Speaker 2 (41:00):
Carry out at Hit, Carry up at Carrie twenty five Roads.
You can find me at dan Byer on Fox. Our
NFL insider Adam Kaplan's gonna join us in about twenty
minutes or so. Give us the latest Sun what's happening
trade deadline wise? A firing in the NFL parting of
ways is how they called it in Miami with Chris
Career and the Dolphins. But Mike McDaniel apparently gonna stay on.
(41:22):
We'll talk about that and so much more again. That
comes up in twenty minutes, Rams are knocking on the door.
DeVante Adams appeared to have a catch but may have
lost control of it. Would get him down to about
the ten yard line, reels it in, but then it's
knocked out. That's going to be an incomplete pass carry.
So the Rams sitting there facing a third down scenario,
(41:44):
third and nine now from the Saints' fifteen yard line,
and the Rams getting blake Korum into the into the
mix today, they're coming off of a bye. You're seeing
a lot more of blake Korum than you thought that
you would. But I just I hope the Rams aren't
sitting there playing with their food because of what we
saw today. Earlier. I don't think the Packers took the
(42:05):
Panthers lightly.
Speaker 12 (42:06):
No.
Speaker 2 (42:06):
I think that the Packers felt that they accomplished something
last week, and we're ready to accomplish something next week.
And that's why they call it a trap game. And
they weren't necessarily ready for what the Panthers had bringing
them succeptive. Maybe against the run, Green Bay is and
ric o'donald took advantage, but the Rams here can't be
can't be foolish with the Saints. Yeah, it's the NFL.
Speaker 3 (42:29):
You have to take every opportunity and put it in
the same basket, and it's hard. I mean, obviously, complacency
in human nature is you've just had a big win
Sunday night, and you come back and you play a
team that you don't think is that on that same
level or the same threat to you, and you come
out and then I think human nature there is, you know,
just that human element of a letdown that's always right
(42:53):
there in front of your face, being in that same
boat as being a team that steps down on the
neck of the opponent. So for Green Bay to come
out and struggle, so to speak, and also be find
himself in the competitive game was probably not what they
were looking.
Speaker 2 (43:08):
For coming into this week. By the way, I will
say that the Rams, at least to their credit, this
is the opening drive of the second half, and there's
already five twenty five and counting left in the third quarter,
so they've held the ball for ten minutes on this
opening drive, trying to take any momentum that the Saints
may have had going into going into the locker room.
And now DeVante Adams has cut a touchdown pass from
(43:28):
Matthew Stafford. Again, I was the one that traded Davonte
Adams because you know what you do when he scores
three touchdowns in a game, what you do if you
sell high, that is what you do here on end
Zone Radio on Fox Sports Radio. So extra point coming up.
But the Rams looking to extend their lead to seventeen.
Jaguars have the football in Raiders' territory. But it's Las
Vegas with the nine to six lead, and they're just
(43:49):
getting underway in the second half in Buffalo with the
Bills up on the Chiefs twenty one to thirteen. I'm
going to just throw a number out there. Thirty two
teams in the National Football League. How many teams do
you think through this point of the season, at this
minute have given up two hundred or more points in
(44:12):
three week nine? Now, they may not have played nine
games because maybe they had to buy earlier. But of
the thirty two teams, how many do you think have
given up two hundred or more points? Out of the
the decent amount of points I the thirty two teams,
I would say twenty two. Okay, so twenty two have
(44:34):
not allowed or have not allowed they've allowed less than
two hundred, So about ten would have more than two
hundred points. Yes, yes, you're very close to nine nine.
How many have given up three hundred points? One? One? Yeah,
(44:54):
this Cincinnati Bankers given up three hundred points this year.
That's insane. I know how you play like this? Like
we knew that the Bengals had issues, they made a
change with their defensive coordinator last year. The topic of
conversation this offseason, what do you do with Trey Hendrickson,
who's now back being a member of the trade conversations
(45:14):
And again we'll ask Adam Kaplan about his status in
a little bit. But this is when you don't have
anybody else like this. This is why it just it
would never make sense to pay Trey Hendrickson because the
defense is so bad to begin with. I don't know
how you can operate as a football team when you've
given up thirty nine points to the Jets in one
(45:35):
week and then answer back giving up forty seven to
the Chicago Bears, who, by the way, to them, they're
starting running back for this game.
Speaker 3 (45:43):
They're bad, Dan, and I don't think anybody is surprised
at how bad they're playing. Obviously you fire Lou Amar
was his name. Lou Andmo and you think that you
bring in somebody else that has to deal with the
same players and the same guys in that room, and
you think they.
Speaker 2 (46:02):
Can fix him.
Speaker 3 (46:03):
Not when they're there, when they're historically bad, it's hard
to do. And even if if you know, if their
main quarterback was there Burrow right now, I mean, Flaco's
putting up the same numbers that he would be.
Speaker 2 (46:14):
Protected right now.
Speaker 3 (46:15):
So it's a lost cause. It's it's such a bad,
such a bad way for Cincinnati.
Speaker 2 (46:19):
Man. They lose forty seven to forty two. In fact,
the Coaston Loveland touchdown, which I actually want you to
break down in fast times later on in the show,
it probably wasn't the worst thing for the Bengals in
that scenario because they're sitting there with a one point
lead on Chicago forty two to forty one. Yeah, and
(46:41):
where Coaston Loveland ends up cat catching the ball before
he breaks the tackles and sprints another thirty five yards
to the end zone. But that's that's field goal range.
That's what the Bears were looking for in that scenario.
So ultimately, if you're you know, if you're Cincinnati and
you have forty seconds left, on the clock. Maybe it
was better that he ended up scoring in that scenario
(47:02):
and you would allow Joe Flack on that offense to
get out there. But I just I can't remember a
team that has just been historically this bad. And I
think it's because their offense is that good. Because I'll
just take a Saints team right here, and there's been
no disrespect to the Saints, but we know members of
the Saints defense, to Mario Davis, Cam Jordan, there are
(47:25):
names that we know, but we don't know how bad
they possibly could be because the offense isn't getting in
any shootouts with other squads. And that's what I think
is just so glaring with Cincinnati is these these two
entities have to work in concert with each other. They're
just say they're not doing so.
Speaker 3 (47:40):
And we've talked about that before, Dan, like, you can
just look at numbers, and sometimes numbers lie. And so
if you have an offense that plays ball control and
you're able to steal put up the points that you're
putting up, it obviously limits the other possessions the other
team has, right And so either you know that coming
into the season, you know we got a bad defense
(48:02):
and Obviously, you paid a lot of money to your
offensive weapons, so you want them to sign and do
their thing. But as a head coach, when you go
into that situation knowing how bad your defense is, you
have to devise the game planning this game based.
Speaker 2 (48:15):
Off of that. Right.
Speaker 3 (48:16):
So it's hard to like say, don't go score every time,
or don't score so quickly every time, but like you
have to call the game in a way that gives
you some type of schematic advantage, and they don't do that.
Speaker 2 (48:28):
They just try to go score points. Yeah, it's not working.
It's crazy. But the the Bengals have been fantasy success
when you're throwing to the likes of T Higgins and
Jamar Chase. But fantasy football wise, it's great for regular
football wise. In Cincinnati, was thought to be an opportunity
to get Joe Burrow back later on in the season.
(48:49):
You know, I have two back to back home games
that you lost, and the Bears were favored coming in,
and I felt the Bears were the better team. Yeah, however,
you have an opportunity to steal a victory and a
back fashion and then you're unable to capitalize on that.
That's got to be extremely disappointed.
Speaker 3 (49:05):
And they could be five and three easily, you know
what I mean, Like from three to five to five
and three, it's such a big, such a big difference.
And obviously, like you said, at five and three, with
the you know, with possibly Joe Burrow coming.
Speaker 2 (49:18):
Back in that kind of illumin in the background.
Speaker 3 (49:20):
You feel pretty good about yourself. But right now you're
three and five and your defense thinks so I don't
think you.
Speaker 2 (49:25):
Feel good about it well, and the Bengals can't feel
good that they've now been passed in the standings technically
by the Ravens. They're coming are three and five. The
Bengals are now three and six, so they're a half
game ahead of them. But this was, in fact, I
saw a graphic it may have been on the NFL
network earlier in the week where they were comparing the
slates of Pittsburgh and Baltimore. And it's something that we've
(49:45):
talked about as well of why Baltimore wasn't out of it.
But they even may mention that, like, we're not even
gonna put the Bengals up here because we don't believe
that they're the actual contender. Yeah, and they proved them right. Today.
Speaker 3 (49:56):
Then I think I saw that same graphic and it
had like at two and five Baltimore they played Miami
and they were like fifty three percent to win the division,
higher than the Pittsburgh Steelers at that point right now.
Speaker 2 (50:06):
The Pittsburgh Steelers today win, came out and took care
of the Indianapolis Colts. In fact, the game was the
scorers a lot closer than what the game indicated because
the Pittsburgh defense gave Daniel Jones fits. He was sacked
five times through three interceptions, a couple of batter balls
tip balls ended up being picked off, there was another
stripsack fumble. They kept Jonathan Taylor in check. So Pittsburgh,
(50:28):
a week after letting Green Bay dominate them in the
second half, comes back and gets a win against the
Colts team that some people thought would just go into
Pittsburgh and continue to roll.
Speaker 3 (50:37):
Yeah, that was I knew that was going to be
a tough spot for the Colts. I mean, I didn't
know if they would win or lose. I didn't know
that at all, but it wouldn't be in a dominating fashion.
That has been the last couple of weeks for them.
So for Pittsburgh, to bounce back and get a big win.
This is a huge win for them because we've talked
about it. Baltimore is looming and now their schedule is
(50:58):
you know, it's pretty softaboard then get a chance again
going to run.
Speaker 2 (51:01):
So for Pittsburgh it's a huge one. Josh Allen a
third and two run for a first down from their
own twenty five yard line, so they've got it up
to about the thirty five yard line after the run
by Allen as the Bills have the football here early
in the second half of their lead over the Kansas
City Chiefs. Right now, twenty one to thirteen is the contest.
(51:22):
I was just impressed by offensively, Pittsburgh is what they are. Yeah,
there's only so much that Aaron Rodgers can do. I
hate to say it, but I think that you're getting
an idea of why Seattle was willing to let go
of DK Metcalf today. He just had two receptions for
six yards. He's not the dominant number one that you
(51:44):
would would have hoped physically an amazing specimen, but he's
just not that guy. But Pittsburgh was still able to
get it done, and they got it done with their defense,
which has been under fire so much so I also
thought the Colts would have a little difficult time because
you're not playing on a fast track of turfing. They've
had a lot of controlled conditions, playing indoors at a
bunch of home games to start the season. Now here
(52:05):
we are early November, you're playing in some elements. It's
kind of Pittsburgh Steeler weather. I know it sounds very cliche,
but I don't think aside from a game in Tennessee
in Week three, the Colts had been playing on astro
turf and basically indoors the whole time.
Speaker 3 (52:19):
You know, it's crazy. I'll go back. I'll go to
that in a minute. But I think the thing with
Pittsburgh and DK metcalf, in my opinion, he would be
a better slot, even maybe even a tight end if
he wanted to. He's such a big guy, crafty inside.
He can't really get separation on the outside unless he's
more physical than the corner. And so even though he's fast,
it's like his route running isn't as crisp, and so
(52:40):
for him, I think he would have more success inside.
I don't know if that's part of their plan moving forward.
But also Pittsburgh has so many tight ends, it's kind
of hard to put him in that mix. It's interesting
to see. I don't think he's I've never thought he
was a number one guy.
Speaker 2 (52:53):
No, he's such a physical specimen, but I don't think
you would call him a physical receiver at all. Really. Yeah,
there's there's you know, there were guys who used their
body a lot better and more fit in a in
a physical nature than he would. Even though that he's
so overpowering, you know, imposing towards everybody. Yeah, that just
(53:16):
hasn't necessarily worked out. But they were to piece together
today with the defense and they still uh still have
that lead in the division. And that's what we talked
about that too as well.
Speaker 3 (53:23):
Dan like, Pittsburgh defense isn't going to be as bad
as they've been all year going down to stretch. I
believe they're going to get tighter and better there. I mean,
they got a lot of new acquisitions on that side
and the ball, so kind of marrying that together with
the offense. I think they've done a good job of that.
And we talked about Cincinnati doing a poor job of it.
I think the Steelers have done a good job of actually,
you know, ball controlling it, letting Aaron Rodgers picking, you know,
(53:46):
pick them apart here gradually down the field, no real
big plays, and that's also helping the defense after as
they move forward.
Speaker 2 (53:52):
There's one other game I want to touch on that
happened earlier today, and it have been in Houston where
the Broncos. A lot of people looked at the line
and said, how are the Texans favored in this game?
Well they were, but Denver leaves with an eighteen to
fifteen contest. CJ. Stroud ends up getting knocked out in
the first half, so Davis Mills had to come in.
Texans settled for field goals throughout the game. Here's here's
(54:14):
my issue with what happened with Houston, Carrie. There was
a minute and fourteen left to go in regulation, Texans
had the ball first and ten at their own thirteen
yard line, and Denver had two timeouts. To think that
Davis Mills, whether Patrick's or Tanna's playing or not, was
(54:35):
going to drive Houston down sixty yards in a minute
and ten seconds and you were going to kick a
game winning field goal against the Broncos. I just I
don't think that that was realistic, and the Texans threw
the ball, first pass incomplete, second pass completed for four yards,
(54:55):
a receiver goes out of bounds, and then the third
pass incomplet and now you're punting back to Denver at
your own seventeen yard line in a tie ball game
where you know Will Lats has a strong enough leg
and he can kick a significant field goal, but also
where you're giving the football back to Denver in that time,
I think the Texans completely let one slip away. Now
(55:18):
they may not have won it in overtime, and maybe Denver,
in the twenty five seconds they would have left on
the clock, would have been able to do something to
get into field goal range. But to put your backup
quarterback in your offense that doesn't have really any weapons
in the backfield, it's one of the worst platoons we've
seen of running backs in the NFL in a long time,
(55:38):
I don't know. And it's meant to not disrespect Nick Chubb,
who's I mean, running on one leg considering the injury
that he suffered a couple of years ago. Woody Marx
is not there yet. When it comes to the NFL
style of running back, you basically have Nicocollins and a
couple of rookies and hopefully Dalton Schultz can make some play.
So to think that you were going to do that
(56:00):
without c J. Stroud just didn't make much sense. Then
we ended up getting decent field position through a couple
of passes and what do you know, kick the game
winner to leave Houston with a victory. Yeah, coach is important.
I'm not gonna get on my boyd Demico. Ryan's here
right now. I'm gonna let that go.
Speaker 3 (56:14):
But yeah, I mean when you're in a position to
try to go win the game, I think a lot
of you know, the new age coaching, and we talked
about it, like those guys are super aggressive and try
to go score instead of you know, like you just said,
like doing the smart thing right, Like we don't have
our main guy in let's let's go in overtime and
let's test it there.
Speaker 2 (56:32):
A lot of guys try to go score now, and
that's kind of this the new NFL. I get the
confidence you have in your players, but no one knows
your players more than you do. Yeah, for sure, and
you have to know what their limitations are. He's carry roads.
I'm Dan Byer Trevor Lawrence is in the end zone
touchdown run for the Jaguars. They have taken the lead
on the Raiders right now. Score in Las Vegas is
(56:52):
twelve to nine. That's not scoring GAMI, but we don't
get a lot of twelve nine games in the National
Football League. Extra point it was good. Now it's thirteen
to nine early in the fourth quarter, so the Jaguars
have taken the lead. There. Rams are driving again up
on the Saints twenty seven to ten, nearing the red zone.
La as the football entering the fourth and the Chiefs
(57:13):
have got the football back, forcing a buffalo punt. It's
first and ten for Kansas City at their own eleven,
but they're down eight to the Bills twenty one to
thirteen with eight thirty eight left to go in the
third quarter. He's carry roads. I'm Dan Byer, what big
name could be dealt before Tuesday's deadline. We'll tell you
next year on Fox Sports.
Speaker 1 (57:29):
Radio, chief said Bills Allen under center motion right to left.
Speaker 7 (57:34):
It's another hand off to Johnson.
Speaker 4 (57:36):
He's throw a hole head into.
Speaker 7 (57:38):
The end zone and he throws the ball into the
stands and does a buffalo bounce after a three yard
touchdown run to retake.
Speaker 1 (57:48):
The lead for the Bills, back to Dan Byer and
Carry Rhoads.
Speaker 2 (57:53):
It is end zone radio and that's WGR five point
fifty in the Bills radio network with the call and
the Bills defense and stepping up too, getting a sack
of Patrick Mahomes on a third down as they play
with five point forty eight left to go on the
third quarter, Kansas City's got to punt it back to
the Bills who have an eight point lead twenty one
to thirteen. Jaguars a four point lead on the Raiders
ten twenty six to go in that contest right now,
(58:15):
though the Raiders have the ball in Jacksonville territory, a
hand off to Brock Bauers healthy healthy gets them in
the red zone down to the fifteen yard line. Of
that's a four point game. And if you missed it,
Cam Little set an NFL record with a sixty eight
yard field goal for the Jaguars in this contest. In
the Rams added to their lead against the Saints, Kiraen
Williams a touchdown run. It's thirty four to ten LA
(58:37):
on top of New Orleans NFL trade deadline comes up
on Tuesdays, some big time injuries happening in the NFL. Today,
we welcome our NFL insider Adam Kaplan to the show
once again. Hello Adam, How are.
Speaker 4 (58:48):
You gots it good?
Speaker 13 (58:49):
Yeah, Look, there are definitely some injuries unfortunately, a couple
of probable season enders with Michael Williams and by the way,
Putkinnakool got hurt that did not look good on the
inside handoff with pectorial or shoulder. We don't know exactly
what it is. They say chess, but when they say chess,
that sometimes meets pectoral.
Speaker 4 (59:06):
Yeah, but they look like his shoulder. But anyway, he was.
Speaker 13 (59:11):
Holding his arm up so that that does worry me.
But yeah, and then you've got the trade deadline where
it could be fascinating on Tuesday because there's so many
teams still in it, which you don't really expect to slate.
But that's one of the reasons why Dan and they
moved the trade deadline back many years ago, about three
or four weeks.
Speaker 2 (59:26):
And just update the audience because they care about my
fantasy team. Ashton Genty completes the hat trick Adam of
players that traded a week and a half ago. They've
all scored touchdowns today, So I hate when that happened. Yes, yes, yes,
it is the season for the NHL. It's the season
Raiders going for the extra point on a pass from
Gino Smith to go up sixteen to thirteen on the Jaguars.
(59:47):
I want to ask you before we get to all
of the ins and outs, what happened with Chris Greer
in Miami? Why does he go? Why does Mike McDaniel
stay with the Dolphins?
Speaker 13 (59:57):
So basically, you know, when i'd be asked here on
FSR or Sports Grade or anyone else I work with
or work for, people would ask him about Mike McDaniel.
I'm like, why are you asking about Chris career. Chris
Career is the one who's put this roster together. I'm
not trying to protect Mike mcdanel. I mean, he's it's
been a struggle for him, but never built Danny quality
offensive line. It's been a problem for him. He just
(01:00:19):
never got it right there. Now, look, you can't blame
him for losing Tyreek Kill for the season. It probably
won't ever play for them again. With a major knee injury,
multiple ligament injury, a terrible injury, defensively, just the secondary
and shambles. Look, they've had injuries there, but they never
got it really right. Uh reacquire micka Fitzpatrick, which was
(01:00:40):
bizarre because he didn't play well for the Steelers.
Speaker 4 (01:00:43):
It just was a missmash. It just was not really
well done.
Speaker 2 (01:00:46):
There was also starting to enter up with John O.
Smith had said like.
Speaker 4 (01:00:50):
Hey, that's another bad one.
Speaker 2 (01:00:52):
I'd like to stick around in Miami at a great
year last Yeah, but that.
Speaker 13 (01:00:56):
Was you know, that was a bad trade, by the way, No,
that that here's the thing, so d I was at
Rosenaud's agent made it pretty clear they went extension for
his great year. They didn't want to extend it, so
they traded him, which was a mistake. So what was
his answer, Let's get Darren Waller out of retirement. That's
as bad. And again I'm not Look, my job is
to tell the truth our report and I evaluate and
(01:01:16):
it was just not a good job by Chris career
and it's uh. He had he had monica of success,
a couple of playoff appearances, but they haven't won anything.
And you know, a long time Steve Ross, I'll say
this about him, the owner guys, he will spend money.
You can never say he's not willing to do it.
It's just he doesn't know anything about the game because
he's you know, he has a business Backghun. He didn't
know football and he just hasn't got it right. And
(01:01:39):
they're just a they're just a mass and new tuas
and consistency, to say the least, not taking Justin Herbert
over him, which you know, still paying some people a
lot of mistakes.
Speaker 4 (01:01:48):
That's the thing, Dan, to answer.
Speaker 3 (01:01:49):
Your question, talk about not winning a long time, We
got a team that's starting to figure it out in Carolina,
the Carolina Panthers.
Speaker 2 (01:01:55):
Yeah, what arazy? Give and five and four, big win
in Green Bay.
Speaker 3 (01:01:59):
And you know, this is one of my teams coming
into the season where I wanted to see where the
next step would be for Bryce Young and that team.
He played well down the stretch last year and now
it seems like they're figuring out a formula of how
to put him in the most successful position. Obviously the
running game has been great, But talk about the Panthers
and then what they can do moving forward, Well.
Speaker 4 (01:02:17):
Kerry actually nailed it.
Speaker 13 (01:02:18):
So talking to Song with the Panthers about a week ago,
we were just talking about the season and kind of
what their plans were at the trade deadline and what
they could be and he said, look, gier Rivero, Thegiro,
this is the way he pronounce it. He's done a
phenomenal job with their defense here. Last year they were
not very good. They've turned things around. They had a
good free agency, good draft, and it's built around the
(01:02:38):
run game. They do not want Bryce Young dropping back
a lot today. Look, he didn't have to. They dominated
the game. They made the Packers throw the ball to
come back.
Speaker 4 (01:02:49):
They couldn't.
Speaker 13 (01:02:49):
They did a great job against Jordan Love I'm in
Love did not throw a touchdown pass, which is surprising.
And Rico Dawbald's been this unbelievable story. He was miscast
last year as a starter for the Cowboys. But you
know Dan for fantasy, he's been phenomenal. They had to
make that choice. Look, Truba Hubbard had signed on a
big extension, but your job is as a coach, you
(01:03:10):
can't worry about that. You don't control contracts. You got
to do the best thing for your football team. And
they've done it again. So yeah, they I'm surprised because
it's sound like Bryceon's doing a lot, but their defense
is so efficient it's hard to score against them.
Speaker 4 (01:03:22):
And the running game has been lights out. Now with
Rego Dabble of all people.
Speaker 2 (01:03:25):
Dan complimentary football, Dan, yes it, How does does does
Green Bay look to do something now? With Tucker Craft's injury?
Speaker 13 (01:03:33):
Seem Oh yeah, yeah, because he's one of them that
we're not expecting him to be back possible a c
l injury.
Speaker 4 (01:03:40):
Look, it's really interesting with Tucker Craft.
Speaker 13 (01:03:42):
I don't know if you know this, Dan, When both
were drafted, mus Gray was the one that everybody talked
about like he was just through that guy. He gets hurt,
Craft has to play, and then he took off and
he's a really big time athlete running after the catch.
Let's not forget Jane read out until sometime December with
multiple injuries and then uh Don Tavian Wix is out
with a calf injury. Now you look at this injury,
(01:04:05):
this absolutely impacting their offense. They yeah, they just they
struggled today. I was stunning. I obviously think most people
thought they get blown out. I mean, they blow out
the Panthers, but this is this was surprise Sunday. This
is a very wild Sunday. No better than that that
Bear Bengals game. The defense was optional, clearly.
Speaker 2 (01:04:26):
Adam kaplet Our, Fox Sports Radio, NFL and SID are
joining us. I'm watching Rashid Shaheed right now, being the
focus of the Saints drive. I'm thinking it's a showcase
for him to maybe be dealt. Who could we see
be traded. We've heard Jalen Waddle's name pop up, but
maybe report saying that's not real or some of the beginnings.
Speaker 13 (01:04:46):
It is real in terms of tough teams wanting them,
but they went way too much. First pick right, Yeah,
that that minunderstanding is it would be least a first
round pick. Look, here's why Tyrkill almost certain not to
play for them again with it. He's got a rmer's
salary going forward, terrible injuries, well to his thirties. They
don't have anyone behind those two, literally, anyone who could start,
(01:05:08):
so it's a problem.
Speaker 4 (01:05:10):
They don't want to do that now. I would bet.
Speaker 13 (01:05:14):
Very strongly they're going to move an edge rusher by Tuesday,
whether it's Bradley Chubb, whether it's Jalen Phillips.
Speaker 4 (01:05:22):
Phillips is the guy with the upside Chubbs, the guy
that you know is ready to go.
Speaker 13 (01:05:25):
They do not want to trade a fresh round pick
from last season, the edge rusher Chop Robinson. I know
that for a fact they don't. They'd like to keep him.
So yeah, mine is kind of the epicenter. And one
personal executive told me he thinks like anyone would be available.
That was his opinion talking to various members of the
front office. Now, I think quagmires guys now with Champ Kelly,
(01:05:47):
the two time interim GM. He was with the Raiders
when Dave Ziggler was let go as the GM of
the with the Raiders, who's now with the Titans and
the Champ now is for interim bases going to oversee personnel.
Uh my understanding is the teams feel like he could
do what he needs to do, but he's going to
need to run the big decisions with Stephen Ross is
(01:06:08):
you know the thing is you if you're going to
bring a new GM in, you don't want to really
completely gut the team. That that's the problem. And one
thing Dan I want to talk about, like Mike McDaniel
is a different guy. He's not for everybody and most
gms when they come in are going to want their
own head coach. It's not an easy sell. Steve Ross,
(01:06:28):
the owner, now that he's got to deal with, it's
not gonna be someone will take it. Look, every someone's
gonna want that GM job. Here's only one to thirty two.
But it's not an ideal job. To be honest with you,
from what.
Speaker 3 (01:06:38):
I understand, Adam, who's the best team in AFC right now? Oh,
I had to put you in front.
Speaker 8 (01:06:44):
Of what.
Speaker 4 (01:06:47):
I would say.
Speaker 13 (01:06:48):
Still the Colts, Look, they lost a tough game, got
up early, look good, then they kind of collapsed. And
they've had a pretty good schedule. But that they've played
really well. They typically don't beat themselves. Daniel Jones do
not played well again today, Let's call it like it.
If he didn't play well, I give the end credit
finding a way to win. Yet again, they're another team.
It's just it's this is what's been great about it.
(01:07:09):
Dever barely won. I mean they don't really impress me,
but they win. Look if this, if this Buffalo game,
guys goes the way it's going to go and then
they're up fifteen. Now, I mean they got to be
in it. And but Buffalo's their front. I mean, they
don't have a great pass rusher. They're bringing it today
and they're really light a t tackle. They got three
(01:07:31):
guys out.
Speaker 2 (01:07:31):
Secondary is not good either, No, it's not.
Speaker 13 (01:07:33):
I mean, Harry the quarnerback group, but they win coaching
matters Dermot's they play all ZO and pretty much own.
They're usually amongst the leaders in z own defense. But yeah,
it surprised me. See here's the thing though, guys, it's
not carry. It's not just the AFC, it's completely the
whole thirty both conference.
Speaker 4 (01:07:51):
They're wide open. Anyone. If you could get in, you
could win it this year. It's very rare. It's like that.
Speaker 13 (01:07:55):
But this is what the NFL wants. They don't call parody,
as they've told me. They call it competitive balance.
Speaker 2 (01:08:02):
Something like that. All right.
Speaker 4 (01:08:04):
The Lake Deal brand told me that many times.
Speaker 2 (01:08:06):
The last one before we let you go, sure quarterback
move because of the trade deadline, could be some teams
maybe looking what backups are available, if any.
Speaker 4 (01:08:15):
Joe Flacco, why don't you go?
Speaker 13 (01:08:16):
I mean they're done so, I mean the fact that
the Browns trade in the division is I mean, look,
Trey Henderson could certainly go by Tuesday. Now today, look,
they got they got to get real here. Their defense
is non competitive. It's funny they were not competitive last season.
They fired h they fired the yeah Lou out of room,
(01:08:37):
and now.
Speaker 4 (01:08:37):
He's doing a great job of the Colts. It's funny
how that works out.
Speaker 13 (01:08:40):
But yeah, yeah, I mean, look, there will be some
teams that are struggling at quarterback that will look certainly
to do that. But look, Carrie mentioned it, though. I
gotta give you credit when you've warned me a couple
of weeks. Agobut the Ravens. I know they're only three
and five, but I'm sick about that. Today I was like, man,
looking at their schedule, I don't know how this worked
(01:09:02):
out other than we didn't know the schedule beat so easy.
Now the Steelers they got lucky today. Yeah, I get
correct that they came back and won the game yet
pretty handily. But I don't trust the Steelers at all.
They're not in my circle trust.
Speaker 2 (01:09:14):
I agree with that. I agree with that. I think
the Ravens are, you know, in the think of it, Yes,
but they're not the same Ravens teams that we're not.
Speaker 4 (01:09:22):
Good enough to.
Speaker 13 (01:09:23):
I mean, no, they beat up a bat Dolphins team. Yes, yeah,
I mean, let's let's suck great exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:09:28):
Yeah, all right, Adam, thanks so much. Can't we detuction
in week ten?
Speaker 4 (01:09:30):
So that's good.
Speaker 2 (01:09:31):
Thank he's carrier OWDs. I'm dan Byer. Adam told you
the Bills extended the lead to fifteen. How did they
do it? Well, Monty Bellanos is here to tell us
how it happened in Buffalo. What's going on? Ref sixty seven?
Give her her music?
Speaker 9 (01:09:47):
Well, come on six seven, Josh, Josh.
Speaker 2 (01:09:49):
By the way, most of us got an extra hour
of sleep last night. Mary Mack got an extra hour
at the club.
Speaker 5 (01:09:54):
Nice.
Speaker 9 (01:09:55):
Nice, Yeah, I wasnt supposed to say that on.
Speaker 2 (01:09:57):
Air, so actually it wasn't a club. It was an
event that was supposed to be brought up on air.
Speaker 5 (01:10:03):
And I did not get an extra hour of sleep
because I was in earlier, so I also missed out
on the hour of sleep.
Speaker 9 (01:10:09):
But it doesn't matter. Great day in football.
Speaker 5 (01:10:12):
Josh Allen got in the end zone for the Bills
with the little help from his friends as they shoved
him in. Bills are up twenty eight to thirteen against
the Chiefs ninety seconds ished to go in the third
quarter and looks like.
Speaker 9 (01:10:25):
It may be a turnover. It may be a turnover
by Kansas City, and I'm sure they're going to review that.
Rams are all over the Saints.
Speaker 5 (01:10:34):
Thirty four to ten is the score with seven minutes
to go in this one, Matthew Stafford has thrown for
two hundred and eighty one yards and four touchdowns touchdowns
which Tyler Shook Rookie Tyler Shook did throw his first
touchdown passes in this game. It went to Juwan Johnson
the Raiders in the end zone as Gino Smith connected
with Ashton Genty. I laughed because of what unfortunately is
happening to you, Dan, So I looked right at Danasy scored.
(01:10:57):
I was like, so the Raiders are up right now
on the Jaguars sixteen to thirteen with about six and
a half minutes to go in the game. And the
Jaguars Zoe are knocking on the door to score, so
they may take the lead here. Other games that happened
earlier today, like the Chargers who defeated the Titans twenty
seven to twenty, they may loserir left tackle Joe Alt
once again he suffered another high ankle Sprank gonna have
(01:11:19):
an MRI on Monday to confirm the diagnosis. The Panthers
with the sixteen to thirteen upset win over the Packers,
which the NFL Network is reporting that the fear is
that tight end Tucker Craft tore his ACL.
Speaker 9 (01:11:32):
That is the fear he left the game with an injury.
There's no confirmed update on that just yet.
Speaker 5 (01:11:38):
Vikings stopped the lines in Detroit twenty seven to twenty four.
Broncos walked it off with the field goal to beat
the Texans eighteen to fifteen and still to come by
the way Seahawks and Commanders Jayden Daniels and Deebo Samuel
are both back for Washington, but the NFL Network reports
that wide receiver Terry McLaurin he's out this week, he's
likely out next week, and that he's probably gonna miss
a Dolphins game in Madrid as well. So no scary
(01:12:01):
Terry for what it looks like a hot second. In
college football, Nebraska quarterback Dylan Royola out for the year
with a broken fibula, and Auburn has fired head football
coach he Freese. When it comes to the ap college
football Powl, there actually wasn't a lot of changes, big ones,
not big ones, like the top seven stayed the same. Okay,
he's celebrating because Louisville moved up two spots.
Speaker 9 (01:12:24):
That's what they did. They're in at fourteen.
Speaker 5 (01:12:26):
Texas did move up seven spots, they're now thirteen. Oklahoma
moved up seven spots they're now eleven. And Washington came
into the top twenty five.
Speaker 9 (01:12:35):
They were not ranked. They are now twenty four.
Speaker 2 (01:12:38):
Do you know how to spell Louisville Louisville, it's l
l V L l L. That is not correct in L.
Speaker 9 (01:12:47):
Think you missed an L. Actually I was told back
to you guys.
Speaker 2 (01:12:51):
All right, thanks MONSI. Yes, it is end zone radio
on Fox Sports Radio where everyone was in bed last
night getting their extra hour of sleep. Not everybody changes
the clocks in the United States. Arizona likes to keep
it real. They just like to keep it, keep it
status quo as it is. Jaguars are in the end
zone one yard touchdown a run from Mishelle Touton and
(01:13:14):
after Travis Etn had a couple of cracks at it, uh,
they give it to Tutin and he gets into the
end zone. So now Jacksonville has retaking the lead, time
for Gino Smith to do his thing.
Speaker 3 (01:13:23):
Dah, you might be the best at the naming of
all these players, Like you know all the names and
you know how to pronounce them all all well.
Speaker 2 (01:13:30):
And it's it's a gift. Dan. I'm gonna give you
some credit on that because the name and I may
have and I may have gotten it wrong. Still, I
can't get the emphasis on Shay's name, So I just
got to do the Shay Morgan guard. I tried to
do it the other way, but I could never quite
get that guard part of it. He's carry roads. I'm
(01:13:51):
Dan Byer. It is end Zone Radio here on Fox
Sports Radio. We'll see if Gino Smith has any heroics.
The Rams are trying to close it out on the Saints,
and can the Chiefs come back from their double digit
deficit against the Bills. All that more, Next tier on
end Zone Radio on Fox Sports.
Speaker 4 (01:14:07):
Radio, Jaguars and Raiders.
Speaker 2 (01:14:11):
Third and doll from the one they running with Tutan,
he is touchdown.
Speaker 4 (01:14:16):
In the end zone.
Speaker 10 (01:14:17):
Touchdown, a one yard touchdown run by.
Speaker 4 (01:14:21):
Bassell Tutan and the Jacks everry taking the lead here
in Las Vegas. Back to Dan Byer and carry Rhoads.
Speaker 2 (01:14:29):
Ten ten xl AT ninety two point five FM and
the Jaguars Radio network, So it did give Jacksonville a
four point lead. On that highlight, however, the Raiders are
driving two minute warning in Las Vegas. Raiders down by four.
They are in Jacksonville territory. Do or die? Play for
(01:14:49):
the Chiefs right now? Feels like I get down fifteen
on a fourth and seventeen. There was a whistle on
the field, but it looked like Patrick Mahomes threw one
up for grabs. I don't know why you're going for
it on four fourth th and seventeen, down fifteen. No,
the game's not over yet. Punt it, pin them deep,
get a stop, get the ball back and test it there.
Fourth and seventeen. We know he got Patrick Mahomes, but yeah,
(01:15:13):
I don't know about this call. I'm with you, Dan.
There was a timeout on the field that was called
by Buffalo, so the Bills took time out. There's forty
seconds gone by in the fourth quarter. Right If you
punt it and you get a stop, then you score,
maybe go for two, maybe kick the extra point. However
it is, but it's a one score game, and fourth
(01:15:35):
and seventeen, basically says to Buffalo, all right, you get
the football here as they're at the right now, they're
at the about the Buffalo thirty forty yard line, forty
yard line, So we'll let you know how they do.
On the fourth and seventeen. Manzi Blano standing by with
some fantasy hits and misses. All right, Manzi chiefs right
(01:16:00):
now on the fourth and seventeen. Uh, Patrick Mahomes just
trying to find some daylight.
Speaker 9 (01:16:06):
And he found it.
Speaker 2 (01:16:07):
He did, Rice, That's why I went right down all
and brock Bowers is.
Speaker 9 (01:16:14):
Did he get in the end zone?
Speaker 4 (01:16:15):
He did?
Speaker 2 (01:16:16):
Brock Bowers just corn Welcome back, brock Bower exactly. Not
if you're Dan Bayer though, not if you're Daing.
Speaker 4 (01:16:23):
Oh yeah yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:16:24):
And the eleven point lead. Who cares? Who cares about
my stupid fantasy team?
Speaker 4 (01:16:28):
We care?
Speaker 2 (01:16:29):
Fantasy numbers?
Speaker 9 (01:16:30):
We care.
Speaker 2 (01:16:30):
I can tell you brock Bowers has eight catches for
eighty three yards in a touchdown.
Speaker 8 (01:16:35):
Nice.
Speaker 2 (01:16:35):
Nice, that's what he's got.
Speaker 9 (01:16:37):
That's what he's got. All right, some of the misses
for today, We'll start with the quarterbacks. I mean, I'm
assuming many.
Speaker 5 (01:16:45):
People played Jordan Love I would have too. Against the Panthers.
No boy, eight points says around what he gave you today.
He threw for two hundred and seventy three yards, that's it.
No touchdowns. He had an interception as well. No no
for Jordan Love. He probably also played CJ.
Speaker 9 (01:17:01):
Strout. Unfortunately he left the game in the second quarter
with the concussion.
Speaker 1 (01:17:05):
So c J.
Speaker 5 (01:17:05):
Strout ended with four points on the night. He just
threw for seventy nine yards, but injury was part of that.
But sieges Strout probably somebody you were playing. When it
came to running backs, I played Jamior Gibbs.
Speaker 9 (01:17:16):
Why would an I have five points? Really, nine carries
for twenty five yards, that is it. Maybe you played
Jonathan Taylor.
Speaker 5 (01:17:27):
I did seven points, fourteen carries for forty five yards.
When it comes to the wide receivers, DK metcald metcalf
had two catches for six yards, so two points. Steelers
still won, though, Lad McConkie nine points today four catches
for fifty six yards charge or so one back to
(01:17:49):
you guys, your missus.
Speaker 2 (01:17:51):
Rock Bouer's updated numbers nine catches and ten yards and
two touchdowns. That was pretty good man, Yes, yeah.
Speaker 9 (01:17:57):
And you got rid of him.
Speaker 2 (01:17:58):
No, it's a whole other story. I'm playing against him.
The only way I could lose is if brock Bowers
has an amazing game. And right now brock Bowers is
having an amazing game. Yeah he did, he did. The
Chiefs have a third and one at the Kansas at
the Buffalo two yard line, and Kareem Hunt got about
a foot if that, So it's going to be fourth
(01:18:20):
and one as the Chiefs unable to cash in now
they will go forward on fourth down. I have to
at this point. Yes, So we'll see what Kansas City does.
This is what Trevor Lawrence has to deal with. He's
got two timeouts left. The Raiders kicked the extra point,
so it's twenty three or twenty in that contest in
Las Vegas. So Trevor Lawrence, all right, let's see what
(01:18:41):
you got here. We were crapping on this game earlier.
Speaker 3 (01:18:42):
This is a good game, Dan, twenty three to twenty
with Trevor Lawrence with a minute and forty two time
outs to go win the game?
Speaker 4 (01:18:48):
What more can you ask for?
Speaker 3 (01:18:50):
Dan?
Speaker 4 (01:18:50):
Right?
Speaker 2 (01:18:51):
It serves me right for downplaying this contest. We got
some good football. Considering the Rams are taking a knee
against the Saints. That's going to be over Shawn Fay
walking across to say, what's up to Kellen Moore? Thirty
four to ten is the final Kareem Hunt gets into
the end zone on the fourth down. He didn't get
it on the third down, but gets in on the
fourth down. So Kansas City now twenty eight to nineteen.
(01:19:13):
The decision now go for two or go for one?
I go for two in the situation. Yeah, they're going
to go for two, yes, yeah, but because if you
don't then you know it's a nine point game. But
if you get the two point conversion, if you score again,
you have a possibility to win the contest. YEP. I
know some people at home a saying crazy, you're crazy,
make it a one score game right now. But I
(01:19:33):
do think that the right play is to go for
two in this scenario, especially with how this game is
played out. Kansas City really hasn't had any momentum. I
think the last thing they'd want to do is go
to overtime. So if you do have an opportunity to
win it, maybe in regulation, then they would do that.
They did get the two point conversion. Patrick Mahomes to
Travis Kelce got a ball game, coach. So it's twenty
eight to twenty one, a lot of time still left
(01:19:55):
in Buffalo in that contest. And you just jumped out
of your chair because Travis CTN broke a couple of tackles.
Speaker 3 (01:20:00):
Yeah, he does some nipty run in there to get
Jacksonville the first down and keep the chain's moving. And
now we got fifty five seconds Leftlet's see I Lawrence
can make it happen.
Speaker 2 (01:20:08):
And I hate to say it, but Cam Little has
already made a sixty eight yard er. They're practically in
field goal range as they get to the Raiders logo
at midfield. That's true. At this point they had to
kick it right now, it'd be what Little did earlier
in this contest, and again there was there was a
lot more distance on that kick when he ended up
setting the NFL record earlier in the contest sixty eight yards.
(01:20:29):
At some point there's going to be a seventy yard
field goal in the NFL, which is crazy to think
of on how the kicking game is just and this
is I know it's indoors carry and it's on a
flat surface. There's not a real crown here, but it's
still on grass, still real grass. Yeah, absolutely, all right,
Carrie's got his fast times. He'll break down one of
the key plays from week nine, and we'll tell you
(01:20:49):
if the Jags and Chiefs could come back. Oh boy,
we got a.
Speaker 4 (01:20:54):
Ball game in Buffalo.
Speaker 2 (01:20:56):
Carrie Rhoades is laughing to himself, and we've got overtime
in Las Vegas. Welcome in. It is end Zone Radio
on Fox Sports Radio. Josh Allen just sacked on a
third and long, so Buffalo's gonna have to punt it
away from their own forty six yard line in a
twenty eight to twenty one ball game.
Speaker 3 (01:21:16):
No, we were talking about why are they going fourth
on fourth and seventeen. I guess this is the reason
they got Pat Mahomes and everybody else doesn't. So he
makes the play, gets them back in the game, and
now a defense gets a stop on Josh Allen and
the Bills. I thought the Bills were a little bit
too conservative in that situation. Josh Allen's been efficient with
(01:21:36):
the ball in the passing game. Obviously they wanted to
get cooked the ball and run some clock here. But
I thought they were a little conservative.
Speaker 2 (01:21:44):
The Chiefs will get the football after the punt inside
their own fifteen yard line, and as MONSI told you,
Cam Little with the kick for the Jaguars to tie
things up in Las Vegas. Raiders did get the football
back with a few seconds left. Smith was sacked. They
said let's just run out the clock. So now they're
going into overtime twenty three to twenty three Jaguars and Raiders.
(01:22:07):
And I would assume whoever wins the toss will the first,
so they can get on defense first and understand what
they have to do once they get the football.
Speaker 3 (01:22:16):
Yeah, that's the new thing with the new overtime rules
to you know, give them give the opposition the ball
first to see what can see what you need to
do on offense. And so yes, I'm pretty sure it'd
be probably status quo here with that.
Speaker 2 (01:22:28):
You know, it's funny and how I don't want to
call it new wave NFL. But it was Super Bowl
fifty eight with the forty nine Ers in Chiefs when
the game went into overtime in Las Vegas, yep. And
the forty nine Ers won the toss and elected to
take the football, which is something that we were so
(01:22:48):
accustomed to carry so for so long. And I'll admit
that even during that game and after the game, a
game where the forty nine Ers kicked the field goal
and the Chiefs went down and scored the touchdown, I
was asked about it. There's you know, people on social
media were saying, you know, why didn't the forty nine
ers do this and that? And now it's plainly obvious
(01:23:11):
of what you're doing over time with the rules with
both teams getting at least one possession now in the
regular season, but in the in the playoff scenario of it,
and in that moment of Super Bowl fifty eight, it
didn't dawn on me that the forty nine Ers and
Brock Purty and Kyle Shanahan should have deferred or should
have ended up kicking the ball to the Chiefs in
(01:23:32):
that situation.
Speaker 3 (01:23:33):
Yeah, I was sitting in the house full of people
asking me because I'm the football guy, and I'm like, man,
I don't know. So I felt back that I couldn't
give them the right right so right answer, I didn't
even I didn't know that was the thing, Danzel.
Speaker 2 (01:23:44):
And even if the forty nine ers, who they had
to settle for a field goal, they would have scored
in that scenario, then it would have been up to
the Chiefs. There could have been a missed extra point
even if the forty nine ers make it. If the
Chiefs wanted to go for two in that scenario, they
would have been able to do so. So just as yes,
now it's the norm, but I would just say that
it was less than two years ago that some of
(01:24:05):
us were saying, why in the world would you do that?
Back that's what you get with the NFL rules. So
the Chiefs will take over first and ten on the
thirteen yard line, their own thirteen yard line, eighty seven
yards to go, six forty six left on the clock
in that game in Buffalo, while they are headed to
overtime between the Jaguars and Raiders. This gives me a
little opportunity. I want to play about a minute of
(01:24:28):
audio because I feel that it's very important on a
daylight today, Carrie, you spent a career in the NFL
for eight years, grew up watching football on TV. But
I'm older than you, And so there is a duo.
We all know about Summer All and Madden. We all
(01:24:48):
know of the history and we can go through the
great pairings Monday Night Football, Al Michaels, Frank Gifford, Dan Dierdorf,
before that, Howard Cosell. A lot of great names, Don Meredith,
a lot of great names. But what makes the NFL
great are the other voices that you hear, maybe not
the mainstream voices that you hear. We had Adam Amin.
(01:25:09):
He's one of the top Fox broadcasters who was on
the call of the Packers Panthers game today, a game
where Carolina Adam does a magnificent job. And way back
when there was a duo on NBC that I think
a lot of people my age I'm in my late
forties would recognize and it always had a unique sound
to it. Here's the taste of what it was like
(01:25:29):
on NBC back in the mid nineteen eighties.
Speaker 4 (01:25:31):
Big Game Day in Miami, the Orange Bawl sold.
Speaker 14 (01:25:34):
Out again as the Dolphins come into this playoff game
with Cleveland with seven straight wins. Good afternoon, everyone, Don
Ricky with Bob Trumpiana perfect day in South Florida, warm
and sunny, just like the Dolphins like it. As you know,
beating Miami and the Orange Bowl takes.
Speaker 4 (01:25:50):
An exceptional effort. The Chicago Bears couldn't do it.
Speaker 14 (01:25:53):
No team has this season, and Trump, the ads makers
don't think the Browns.
Speaker 4 (01:25:57):
Had much of a shot.
Speaker 12 (01:25:58):
Well, Don, most people when they play the mind Dolphins field.
To beat the Dolphins, you got to keep the ball
away from Dan Marino. Cleveland has that opportunity with a
set of great running backs. These two just the third
set to combine for a thousand yards each in a season.
Speaker 2 (01:26:11):
Now, the reason I play that sound bite is not
to give audio evidence that the Browns and Dolphins did
make the playoffs. At one point, Shay, our resident Browns fan, says,
looking at it to me and that they were successful
teams back then. That was the broadcast team of Don
Keroky and Bob Trumpy. Bob Trump, he passed away today
at the age of eighty played was an original member
(01:26:31):
of the Cincinnati Bengals, but one of those players who
made a name for himself. Even more so after the game,
Bob Trumpy ended up at one point moving to the
top booth of NBC. He called Golfer NBC. But that
deep voice of Bob Trumpy. And there's so many football
fans like myself remember the pairing of Don Kirkie and
(01:26:52):
Bob Trumpy because Don Creaky kind of had that high
voice as you heard there, and then you'd go with
Bob Trumpy in this deep voice. But Bob Trumpy passed
away at the age of eighty and just sad news.
But I wanted to bring at least a little bit
of the taste of the childhood and the youth of
what we grew up with. And we know some are
all in mad and we know Dick Enberg, but I
know people know Bob Trumpy and him pairing up with
(01:27:15):
Don Quirky.
Speaker 3 (01:27:15):
Ya sent in love to him, and it's family as well.
I mean, obviously I don't I actually don't know him.
Speaker 4 (01:27:20):
Man.
Speaker 2 (01:27:20):
Yeah, I had never heard a little bit older than yes, but.
Speaker 3 (01:27:23):
Yeah, no, it's always cool to hear the cool voices
up of the past.
Speaker 2 (01:27:27):
So here's where we are in Week nine of the
NFL season, the two games remaining in this late window.
The Jaguars got the football first, so they have driven down.
They are in Raiders territory, so an opportunity to put
some points on the board. Trevor Lawrence and Crewe getting
down to about the Raiders thirty three yard line where
they've got a first and ten Kansas City facing a
(01:27:48):
second and ten from their own twenty three that a
penalty that kind of backed them up, And now a
second and ten from the twenty three yard line, and
they've got all three other timeouts, but time is going
to are to become of the essence as well. So
four point thirty two here, you could see a scenario
where Kansas City, if they were to go on a
scoring drive, would take up a majority of this clock
(01:28:10):
if it happens, Carrie, and then that puts in the
scenario of them being able to go for two and
maybe going and stealing a win in Buffalo.
Speaker 3 (01:28:17):
Yeah, no, you can tell that's what they're doing right now.
They're slow playing its clock. And we've talked about like
good coaching and understanding the full complexity and the full
tenor of a game. Right they've had not a lot
of success in this game, and now they've picked up
a little momentum here in the fourth quarter. They've had
problems stop in Buffalo all game. They get a big
stop in the fourth quarter. Now they're going to try
(01:28:37):
to matriculate the ball down the field and waste as
much time as they can.
Speaker 2 (01:28:41):
We talked about it before this game. Comes down to
those two quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (01:28:45):
And so right now Patrick Mahomes has the ball with
a chance to finish it last and how hopefully that
would be the recipe for the Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (01:28:52):
If you're a Chief fan, I know this is probably
the markeee game of the regular season, and I understand
these two brands are enormous. I did not think that
the outcome of this game was going to have a huge,
huge play on how the season rest of this season
played out. I felt that it would be a bit
of a boost for Kansas City to continue their winning ways.
(01:29:15):
To go to Buffalo, obviously a road win would be
a big deal. But now to have it play out
the way that it has, for Buffalo to have the
lead that they had, if they were to not win
this game, that would be that would be a tough one.
They'd be five and three. The Patriots are sitting there
atop the division. Yeah, you know right now a seven
(01:29:35):
seven win team. So yeah, I didn't think at the
beginning of this game, but now to see how it's
played out and how the Bills had a lead in
this contest and Bigness maybe could be giving back. Oh,
we got to turn over carry, we got interception. Yeah,
Buffalo made a good play.
Speaker 3 (01:29:50):
Jos Patrick Mahomes is just throwing the ball up and
in this game, if you've seen, i mean it's before
this previous drive they scored on. He was twelve to
twenty six heading to the fourth quarter. So Buffalo's done
a good job. I mean, we've talked about them not
having really great DB's or great defense, but their scheme
and the way they've attacked Patrick Mahomes today has been
pretty masterful.
Speaker 2 (01:30:10):
Yeah. Well he did throw it up. He threw up
for Savior worthy of double coverage and there was nobody
around it. He was getting some pressure. There's some pressure
from Joey Bosa on the.
Speaker 3 (01:30:18):
Well, it's almost like a punt they were gonna if
he didn't get it was gonna be a punt anyway.
So this white threw a deep but still, I mean,
it's just it hasn't looked pretty for the Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (01:30:26):
That's a that was but that was a second down play.
It was it third down? Okay, yeah, all right, my
bad on that. So there's a first and goal play
for the Jaguars who got it down to about the
Raiders two yard line. You hand it off, do you
run a little play action here, Kerry. They're going to
run it here. There you go. It didn't work, but
(01:30:48):
it wasn't run Yeah yeah. Max Crosby's been in the
backfield for the Raiders so far this afternoon. Yeah no,
I mean yeah, you run it there obviously. Right now.
Speaker 3 (01:30:56):
The thing about overtime is, yes, the other team gets
a chance to score, but you want to leave them
with as little time as you can as well. So
we're running the clock here a little bit as well,
give them a little bit of an advantage.
Speaker 2 (01:31:07):
Trevor Travis ETN ended up getting it down to about
the one yard line, but base shall Tuton, who cashed
in earlier when ETN couldn't cash in from the one,
was the ball carrier on that one. Now here's the scenarios.
This is this is what will be interesting, Carrie. So
the Bills are going to take over. They've got it
second and eight now at the thirty five yard line.
(01:31:28):
Kansas City has all three other timeouts and they give
to Travis Etn. If you don't make it on third down,
ETN is just short. Are you kicking the field goal
or are you going for it here? I'm going for
it yeah, I agree, Yeah, No, I got at this
point for sure. The reason being is there's already down
to about four and a half minutes left in this overtime.
(01:31:51):
And while we've seen a long field goal there today,
I don't know on what I would rather go for
it and have them pinned back and have a limited
playbook in that scenario. Heck, you could went out of safety,
you know. I mean in that scenario if if you're Jacksonville,
so on a third down here, we'll see on what
(01:32:12):
Jacksonville does. And there's now it's four minutes in counting.
They try to sneak with uh with Trevor Lawrence, there
is no signal and I didn't think he got much progress.
And he is parallel with the goal line. He might
be the sea's underneath. He wasn't. He didn't move it all.
It's because he had eight guys on top of him.
(01:32:33):
Part of the problem as well.
Speaker 3 (01:32:34):
They're talking about it, Dan, like, I think what we
talked about right here, like do you kick the field
goal here? You're on the one foot line.
Speaker 2 (01:32:40):
You got to go for it.
Speaker 3 (01:32:41):
And again if you don't get it, they have to
drive to left it the field to score even if
it's a field goal, it's still a lot of yardists
to go.
Speaker 2 (01:32:47):
Yes, there's there's no reason, and the Jaguars have taken
six and a half minutes off the clock exactly. This
is also why the ten minute overtime is silly in
this scenario. In the in the Super Bowl, it goes
to fifteen minute quarters, you don't play ten minute quarters.
I understand you're trying to get the game done here,
but you've got Jacksonville who's just taken the first six
(01:33:09):
and a half minutes off the clock. And what's the
true advantage of that. If you would have more of
a you would have more of the fair competition instead
of now having to a hurry up situation. By the way,
that's what I would want. I would want Gino Smith
in that scenario. Who's been the Raiders been known to
turn the football over right for them to feel rushed.
(01:33:30):
It's not like if they if they aren't rushed, then
they're just handing it off to Ashton genty and trying
to figure away out of their own end zone. But
now you got to the Raiders may end up having
to play for a tie in the scenario.
Speaker 3 (01:33:42):
Yeah, no, you definitely go for it. And the crazy
part about it, Dan, do you go forward and you
go for two as well? Like really put press on them?
What do you think about that? I would kick the
I would kick the extra point. Why because I wouldn't
want to lose on them scoring a touchdown. But they
still have to kick the extra point. Oh yeah, still,
(01:34:04):
you know, like just in the in the in the
spirit of what we're talking about here. Yeah, if the Raiders,
you know, in all the scenarios here. So it's fourth
and goal, So the Jaguars are going for it. Yeah,
they're absolutely making the correct call. He yes, Jacksonville took
a time out to discuss it. But the Bills, by
the way, a third and three, they've huge forced Kansas
City to use two of their timeouts. There's two thirty
(01:34:26):
nine left, they're at midfield. So that's what's going on
in Buffalo. With the Bills up seven even big at
the first are down, I'm still going to have to
get another first down to in this game though. They
still have two stopages with one time out.
Speaker 2 (01:34:37):
Left with the Chiefs and Trevor Lawrence just did the
I'm going to stick the ball over Allah Drew Brees,
I think he's the one who kind of made that famous.
And Jacksonville is in the end zone, so it's twenty
nine to twenty three, and now I assume that they
go and kick the extra point here, So Gino Smith
and the Raiders he barely got that in. We'll have
(01:34:58):
will have three and a half minutes to try to
try to even that's the interest. The reason why Carrie
is jumping is because Trevor Lawrence almost had the ball
knocked from his hand when he just tried to reach
it out over the line, and if it doesn't cross
the goal line, that could be fumble scenario. The Bills
were able to convert on their third down play pass
out to James Cook. He then slides in bounds. So
(01:35:20):
to your point, the stoppage of clocks for Kansas City
happens on that one, and the Bills now can work
even more clock Honestly, not that they would. Kansas City's
now out of timeouts with two thirty one left to go,
so Buffalo would need to get another first down to
really salt away this game. But you're also in somewhat
scoring position if you wanted to, if you wanted to
(01:35:42):
at least try to kick a field goal. This is
what we're gonna do. The Jaguars are up seven thirty
to twenty three. Raiders are getting the football two minute
warning in Buffalo with the approaching here on this first
down play, We're gonna just keep it here for a second,
just to play it out for what Buffalo does up
to the two minute warning, and then we will let
(01:36:04):
you know how that set of downs, even if and
James Cook ends up getting kind of stuffed at the line,
so it was first intend at the thirty eight yard line,
got about a yard so up to the thirty seven
yard line, but that will take it to the two
minute warning. The Bills can run about eighty more seconds
of clock, so the Chiefs would have about forty seconds left,
(01:36:26):
maybe even just less than that in this scenario getting
the football back if Buffalo doesn't end up getting the
first down.
Speaker 3 (01:36:33):
Yeah, if I'm Buffalo here, Dan, I got is this
game with Josh Allen having the ball. We talked about it.
You thually, who ever has the ball last in these games,
they win the game. Do not give Patrick Mahomes the
ball again. So whatever you need to do here, I
don't care if it's even passing no third down, really win,
go win the game. I would run, I would run
the football. I would run a boot with Josh Allen.
(01:36:54):
I would try to take off more time. I know
that thirteen seconds probably sticks in the head of Bills fans. However,
in this scenario from the divisional playoff game, Kansas City
just needed three points to tie, the Chiefs would need
a touchdown to win.
Speaker 2 (01:37:12):
That would be the difference. And you said, oh my,
because the Raiders have taken the opening the ensuing kickoff
after the Jaguar touchdown, and they're in Jacksonville territory right now.
So they just crossed the fifty yard line. So time
shouldn't be of the essence where he mostert great running back,
great years with the forty nine Ers and Dolphins taking
(01:37:34):
that kickoff all the way down to the Jacksonville forty
five yard line. So Gino Smith and the Raiders, with
three sixteen left in overtime down seven, have the football
already in Jacksonville territory. He is Carrier Oads, I'm Dan Byer.
It's end Zone Radio. We'll tell you how these games
wrap up. We got to take a time out. I
know that we do. Actually, you know what Shay, I
(01:37:54):
want to just I want to share.
Speaker 4 (01:37:55):
Are we good?
Speaker 2 (01:37:56):
Could we keep it here for a little while? What
do we want to do with it? We can keep
it there for a lot all right, let's just do
that because the thing that we don't want to do
is step away. Have the Bills get a first down
on the game end and the Raiders end up scoring
along the way, So we will keep it here. So
the Raiders now second and five. Short pass to brock
Bowers gets them down to about the forty yard line.
(01:38:16):
Both teams awarded two timeouts in overtime. Raiders have both
of theirs. The Jaguars have one of their timeouts.
Speaker 3 (01:38:22):
Man, they are going to brock Bowers again. Dan, I'm
sorry for you. This is getting to be scared as
far as your fantasy team goes. I'm not I mean
talking about the game anymore. I'm just concerned about my
fellow mate, and it's and it's fantasy game.
Speaker 2 (01:38:36):
I'll tell you well, they didn't go to brock Bowers
that time, as Tino Smith ended up getting sacked. So
it's gonna be third and ten, But I guarantee you
end up looking for him in this situation. Here's the
other thing of getting the ball second. Not only do
you know what you have to do points wise, you've
got four plays to do it. You're never gonna have
to worry about punting the football unless the other team
(01:38:56):
didn't score. So the Jaguars defense ends up coming up big,
and then they hit the two minute warning with the
timeout in Las Vegas, so a big third and ten
coming up with the Raiders again down seven to Jacksonville,
thirty to twenty three in that contest, and the Bills here,
I will keep it because of the time situation, it's
(01:39:17):
gonna be second down to nine. If you just took
Josh Allen and ran a boot leg and ran five
seconds off the clock on both plays, you could get
this down to about twenty seconds or so or thirty seconds,
and when Kansas City would get the football back.
Speaker 3 (01:39:31):
They just set it up. Dan, you might be onto
something there. So on that hand off, Josh Allen did
like a boot accent, just like he was checking to
see what was going on. Let's see if the call
comes this.
Speaker 2 (01:39:41):
Next play, they handed it off to James Cook and
unfortunately for the Chiefs, Cooke didn't go down. So it
was a massive humanity but that took on an extra
five seconds. Yeah, the only thing that we're looking at
here is time. So on third and seven, the Bills
are gonna have the football. The Chiefs cannot stop the clock.
This is gonna go down to about a minute ten.
(01:40:01):
Buffalo's got a timeout, Yep, they can use it if
they want to. Honestly, they could take the delay of game.
It wouldn't It wouldn't matter as much for what Buffalo
I think really wants to accomplish in this situation.
Speaker 3 (01:40:16):
But Dan, I'm they're gonna They're gonna put Joss Allen
in the run pass option. You might be right with
the bootleg, but I'm telling you he's gonna have an
opportunity to pass his ball to but they he cannot
throw it in completion though.
Speaker 2 (01:40:26):
Yeah, I can't do that, No, absolutely not. Yeah, I
would be shocked if it leaves his hand, to be
honest with you. So, and now the Raiders get a
play to Trey Tucker. So that is gonna go for
a first down. That's why Carrie said, Oh, Tucker almost
broke it. And so now it's a first down and
ten for the Raiders in Jacksonville Territory. The third and
(01:40:49):
ten gets him down to inside the twenty five yard line,
down to about the twenty three yard line again. Now
they're on the other side of the two minute warning.
But time shouldn't be a factor for the Raiders, who
have both timeouts. In fact, if they wanted to kick
the extra point, depending on how it goes, they could
just continue to let this clock run down. So we've
(01:41:09):
got two scenarios. Bill's on a third and seven trying
to work clock in Buffalo. Trey Tucker just ended up
dropping a pass on first and ten, so a minute seventeen,
it'll be second and ten for the Raiders. There was
no boot action. So now James Cook goes down and
the play clock starts, and this will be about the
(01:41:29):
Buffalo will take it all the way and it'll be
about twenty five seconds. What do you do here, Danny
punt it? I punt it. I punt it to Niagara Falls.
If I am Buffalo, that is what I do. I
don't care how far it goes out of the end zone.
Just make them go. They got to score a touchdown.
It's not like it was previously. As for the Raiders
in the second down scenario, Gino Smith is able to
(01:41:52):
scramble and use his legs to get a few more yards,
but the Raiders again have all their timeouts. Wow, hold on,
that's what I would think. Matt Crater is on for
a field goal, and he made it. But that's what
I was. Oh no, he didn't. He didn't make it.
It hit the upright, that is that is and that's
why I brought it up, Dan, I was. I was
(01:42:14):
so confident that the Bills were gonna punt the football
that I focused on what was happening with the Raiders.
That is an awful decision by Sean McDermott. An awful
decision that is. That is, I just I don't understand it.
And Brock Bauers gets them a first down on a
third and seven, gets out of bounds thirty five seconds left,
(01:42:35):
So now the Raiders are going to have an opportunity. Yeah,
I don't know. That's why. Why would you give Why
would you give them? You just gave them twenty five
yards a field position. Kansas City has twenty one yards.
Kansas City has at first down in ten at the
forty one yard line of Kansas City. There's twenty two
seconds left. That's just that's that's a bad job by
(01:42:56):
by Sean McDermott. You're just completely playing with fire in
that scenario, they're already at the forty Daan, after that completion,
you make a decision like that, carry you deserve to
lose a football game. It may not come back and
bite them. The Raiders are first and goal and Gino
Smith is running for his life. Again. Time is really
not an essence, but you couldn't take a sack in
(01:43:17):
that scenario. Oh and he throws it and we may
have a pass interference call Trey Tucker I thought maybe
caught it at first too. So it's Jacksonville up seven,
but the Raiders are gonna have it first in goal
and now Kansas City on the first down pass to
Worthy gets them down to the bills forty yard line,
and if the Raiders score here, they go for two
(01:43:37):
to try to win it. Here, Dan, this is yeah,
I would, yeah, I would as well. Yeah, you're two
and five, what's you know? What's what's the rest?
Speaker 3 (01:43:45):
This is?
Speaker 2 (01:43:47):
I'm sorry, that's just an awful call by Sean McDermott.
And we are going to have to take a time
out in a second here, but we'll tell you what.
The the Raiders pass was incomplete second down and ten
for the eaves in Buffalo. We've got both games going
on here, Carrie. Were you as confident as I whether
they were gonna punt it or did you know? That's
(01:44:07):
why I ask, And it's not about kicking it or anything.
I was just run the clock all the way down
and what you just say, like go for it at
that point and maybe gonna kick the field goal. Then
it doesn't make any sense. Yes, yeah, I agree, And
Patrick Mahms has throwing it into the end zone and
almost a deflective ball ended up in Hollywood Brown's hands.
It did not. It did not. So it's third and
(01:44:29):
ten and there's three seconds left in Las Vegas. The
Raiders on a first and goal did not get in
on an Ashton Genty run. So the Raiders used one
of their remaining timeouts. And I'll tell you, if there's
anything that I know about Pete Carroll, They're gonna throw
the football here on second down, no matter.
Speaker 4 (01:44:48):
All this.
Speaker 2 (01:44:49):
There's a reason and it goes exactly with that. He
wants as many opportunities to get it into the end
zone and he feels if they run it here he
may not have that opportunity. That's just my guess. Has
they gotten wiser with old age? As you better learn
your lesson? And the Kansas City Chiefs throw a hail
Mary that ends up getting batted down. It didn't even
(01:45:11):
make it to the end zone, so even if it
was caught, the Bills survive. Wow. Shouldn't have been that way.
Shouldn't even have been that way. Now, as for the
Raiders who have a second and goal from the two
yard line, I told you they were going to pass it.
There was no doubt they were going to pass it.
And he finds block Bowers in the back of the
end zone for a touchdown and they will go for two.
(01:45:32):
We will take a timeout after the Raiders go for two.
Trust me, Shay. This has been a crazy, crazy segment
here on Fox Sports Radio. But the Chiefs could not
come back against the Bills, and the Raiders come all
the way back and now have an opportunity to go
for the game winner. As soon as we see what
the Raiders do on this two point conversion, I promise
you we will take our time out. But the Raiders
(01:45:54):
now pull within one thirty to twenty nine, and you
saw Geno Smith right away hold up the two fingers
that they are going for the two point conversion. There's
only sixteen seconds left in overtime, so if you were
kicking the extra point, you're basically just wanting to play
for a tie. The Raiders are gonna go for it here.
What do you do, Boot Action? You just try to
figure out something for Brock Bowers.
Speaker 3 (01:46:14):
Oh you know it's Block Bowers in his play, and
I think everybody else knows it as well. So maybe
you can sneak a sneak something to the flat here
in a bunch situation to try to get confused.
Speaker 2 (01:46:23):
The Raiders, according to the Fox graphic, are one for
two on two point conversions so far this season. Gino
Smith just threw his fourth touchdown pass, and of course
the Jaguars are gonna take a timeout and call that
kode act Dan. My goodness, my goodness. All right, here's
here's what we have to do. So is let me
(01:46:48):
see here. So there's sixteen seconds left. Yep, the Jaguars
have used their final timeout. Raiders have their timeout. We've
got it. We can't leave you hanging. We're gonna let
you know if you're a Raiders. Jaguars fan, We're not
gonna leave at this point. I will not do that
to you. I will not. This is the type of
show where sometimes rules are made to be broken. We
(01:47:11):
got a Raidar fan praying we can't leave them dwn No,
absolutely not. The Raiders, by the way, have a time
out of their own if they needed it. But here's
this two point conversion attempt for Gino Smith and the
Raiders to try to get a win against Jacksonville. It's
going to Bowers, right, it has to. So you come
to a bunch situation. Back to the flat. Like I said,
(01:47:34):
always wide open. He was wide opening the back and
ends on ad. The ball was batted down and the
Jaguars survived. Game over, Oh my game over. Jaguars beat
the Raiders thirty to twenty nine. He's carry Roads. I'm
Dan Byer. It's end Zone Radio on Fox Sports Radio.
End Zone Radio on Fox Sports Radio. He's the all
(01:47:54):
pro Carry Roads. I'm Dan Bayer. Our MVP is coming
up in just a bit, but we gotta go to
the news desk. Mansi Blago is filling us in and
all the latest of what happened in week nine and
a crazy crazy ending. We weren't expecting much from this
late window outside of the Chiefs and Bills, but boy,
they sure delivered in Las Vegas and in Buffalo.
Speaker 9 (01:48:15):
They really did. I also thought you were saying I
was the MVP, and I was like, oh, but that's
not what you meant.
Speaker 3 (01:48:20):
Got it?
Speaker 2 (01:48:22):
You are in r RS Monty.
Speaker 9 (01:48:25):
Oh no, he's talking about their.
Speaker 5 (01:48:26):
Ill got it the MVPs that Ricky puts together go
as Simons, all right, yeah, no, what a what a game?
That turned out to be a game because the first
half of the Jaguars Raiders game boring, underwhelming, and it
turned into something even in overtime.
Speaker 2 (01:48:40):
Janos ft drops looks, looks, looks, pup, fake fun, look down.
Speaker 10 (01:48:46):
Look down, Come on Heaven and knocked it down. It's
so good to Jaguars with it, to Jeff Ward's with it?
Speaker 2 (01:48:54):
How good is that?
Speaker 4 (01:48:56):
What a play them on?
Speaker 10 (01:48:57):
Hen did he knocked it down? At the line of
scrimmage Jacksonville hold on?
Speaker 2 (01:49:03):
Apparently the ball was knocked down.
Speaker 9 (01:49:04):
Apparently the ball was knocked down. This was an overtime.
Speaker 5 (01:49:07):
The Raiders got in the end zone and went for
a two point conversion to try and win it.
Speaker 9 (01:49:11):
It was knocked down. Did you get it? It was
knocked down to knocked out. It was knocked out. The
Jaguars radio network on the call.
Speaker 5 (01:49:17):
So they win it thirty to twenty nine against the
Raiders in Las Vegas.
Speaker 9 (01:49:21):
Also, history was made into this game, or at the
start of the game kind of.
Speaker 5 (01:49:25):
Cam Little drilled a sixty eight yard field goal, which
is the longest in NFL history.
Speaker 9 (01:49:30):
Crazy.
Speaker 5 (01:49:30):
Also, the Jags had six points going into the fourth
quarter and this is how the game ended.
Speaker 2 (01:49:35):
They only had six point six points. Wow, it was
nine to six.
Speaker 9 (01:49:40):
Yeah, and then here we are, here we are.
Speaker 5 (01:49:44):
The Bills survived twenty eight to twenty one against the Chiefs.
Josh Allen twenty three of twenty six. They missed three
throws two hundred and seventy three yards one touchdown. He
also had two rushing touchdowns. Patrick Mahomes fifteen of thirty
four two hundred and fifty yards and an interception forty
What is.
Speaker 2 (01:50:03):
That forty three percent? Forty four?
Speaker 1 (01:50:05):
What is that?
Speaker 2 (01:50:06):
Manti like in completion completion percentage?
Speaker 9 (01:50:08):
Yeah, not that fifteen out of.
Speaker 2 (01:50:10):
Thirty enough, Bloody didn't ask me.
Speaker 5 (01:50:14):
Yeah, this sounds about right, because it's definitely it's less
than fifty.
Speaker 9 (01:50:17):
So yes, yes, whatever you say. The Rams crushed the
Saints thirty four to ten.
Speaker 5 (01:50:23):
Matthew Stafford through for two hundred and eighty one yards
and four touchdowns in the win. The games that happened
earlier today, well, the Panthers were the upset of the day.
They defeated the Packers sixteen to thirteen. Happy Birthday, Jordan Love.
Chargers defeated the Tiants twenty seven to twenty. Bear survived
forty seven to forty two against the Bengals.
Speaker 9 (01:50:41):
This one went down to the wire.
Speaker 5 (01:50:42):
Joe Flacco threw for four hundred and seventy yards that's
a career high. He also had four touchdowns and an interception.
Bengals were the first team since the nineteen sixties to
score thirty eight points or more in back to back
games and lose both of them.
Speaker 2 (01:50:56):
I thought, I thought that was Texas, tex Texas Tech
and Hawaii maybe alays Go. Yeah, yeah, Texas defense.
Speaker 1 (01:51:02):
Now they do.
Speaker 2 (01:51:03):
How about this A yeah?
Speaker 9 (01:51:05):
But no defense today by the Bengals whatsoever.
Speaker 5 (01:51:08):
The Patriots also survived twenty four to twenty three against
the Falcons. Drake London Steelers went back to their Roots
defense three interceptions. Today they beat the Colts twenty seven
to twenty. The Colts fall to seven and two. Steelers
improved five and three. Vikings stopped the Lions in Detroit
twenty seven to twenty four. Bardy nine Ers CRUs passed
the Giants thirty four to twenty four.
Speaker 9 (01:51:30):
Christian McCaffrey one hundred and six yards on the ground
and a touchdown.
Speaker 5 (01:51:33):
He also caught a touchdown pass from Mac Jones and
the Broncos walked it off with the field goal to
defeat the Texans eighteen to fifteen.
Speaker 4 (01:51:41):
C J.
Speaker 5 (01:51:41):
Stroud did leave the game in the second quarter with
a concussion, so he didn't finish it out for Houston.
Still to come Seahawks and Commanders. That's going to kick
off at a twenty eastern time. And if you care
about the NBA, the Nets, who have not won a
game yet, are losing right now to the seventy six
Ers eighty to sixty four halfway through the third order
Cavaliers over the Hawks sixty six to sixty three. Halfway
(01:52:03):
through the third Nicks on top of the Bulls after
the first quarter thirty four to twenty four. Jalen Brunson
in the first quarter. Nineteen points. Back to you guys.
Speaker 2 (01:52:12):
The classic uniform game tonight. It's wound repping the throwback
Seahawks sweatshirt the Super Bowl era for the Commanders. They're
going to be wearing those should look great on NBC.
I don't know, Manzi, did you did you hear the
move the Bengal Yeah, the Bengals they've signed to improve
their defense. They've signed Dodger second baseman Miguel Rojas, So
she would have tackled at the end. There's a defense
(01:52:33):
that they would need. Yes, my goodness, Cincinnati. Yeah, just
as it was happening today. Yeah, it can't happen again.
Oh it happened again, Dan, I you know how I
feel about going out and playing football. I can't do
it right now. I can help the Bengals for sure. Yeah, absolutely,
no question, no question. He's carry Roads. I'm Dan Byer.

I know the Bills won, but still just a bad
decision by Sean McDermott to try to kick a field
goal in that scenario. And it's crazy.
Speaker 3 (01:53:30):
That's why I bought it up, Dan, because I know
they were in field that fringe field goal range, and
obviously two scores ends the game. But we've seen Kansas
City in no situation block kicks and it's just a
dangerous play.
Speaker 2 (01:53:41):
It's a dangerous play. They needed Patrick Mahomes to go
fourteen to thirty five for today, or fifteen to thirty four,
whatever the Matthew equation you dropped on us. It was
fifteen to thirty four. They needed that. All right, here's
carry Roads. I'm Dan Byer our MVPs plus a look
ahead Tuesday night Seahawks Commanders matchup from DC. That's on
en Zone Radio on Fox Sports Radio. End Zone Radio
(01:54:03):
on Fox Sports Radio. He's the all Pro Kerry Roads.
I'm Dan Byer. Week Nine's got the Commanders and Seahawks
tonight from DC than tomorrow night Arizona and Jacoby Brissett
taking on the Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott and Crew again.
Another matchup in the NFL that was once a division
matchup that people don't realize. Cardinals in the NFC East.
(01:54:28):
That's right. They got the Cowboys in Arlington tomorrow night.
One of the bigger upsets. We talked about the Panthers
going to Green Band winning today. I don't know how
many people have the Vikings going to Detroit and taking
down the Lions, especially in the return of JJ McCarthy. Yep,
this is all I'll say about McCarthy. He's much more
(01:54:49):
of a weapon with his legs yep right now than
his arms. A great win for them today, but I
think it's also what their defense did. Sacked yard Golf
five times, kept Jim Gibbs pretty much in check. Gibbs
only had nine carries twenty five yards, so Minnesota found
a recipe, found a way to get it done, and
McCarthy ends up getting in the end zone. They're gonna
(01:55:11):
touch some pass to Justin Jefferson early, but also running
one in himself. I mixed reviews on McCarthy's actual play.
I think he missed a couple of opportunities, but you
can't argue with a win in Detroit, huge win from Minnesota.
Speaker 3 (01:55:25):
I was ready to count this team out, to be honest,
I still am, but you are, But you know that
was I thought it was over at this point. But
for them to go in and get a win against
Detroit the way Detroit has been rolling, and you know,
I feel really high about the chances of Detroit, you know,
being one of the teams that could be one of
the last ones standing. And so for them to allow
(01:55:46):
Minnesota to get a win in this situation to get
back in the race, it was disappointing. I was more
disappointed in Detroit than I was impressed by Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (01:55:55):
Though, yeah, I would go along with that. Yeah, JJ
McCarthy was through a couple of balls, be behind the
receivers where it needed to be. Maybe it was a
little late on the decisions, but I'm not gonna nitpick
in that scenario, considering Minnesota did something that how many
people thought they would do, and let's go to Detroit
and get a win. Yes, he's carry Roads. I'm dan
byer time now for our Week nine MVPs.
Speaker 13 (01:56:17):

Speaker 2 (01:59:46):
You know, ultimately carry the Raiders game came down to
a batted ball on a two point conversion, Jacksonville getting
the stomp on defense with that two point conversion. But
we saw a bunch of battle footballs today. Daniel Jones
had a couple that ended up turning in to turnovers,
and I will say it was one of the first
times this season that Danny Dimes did look like Danny two. Nicholas,
(02:00:07):
You're absolutely right about that.
Speaker 1 (02:00:09):
He did.
Speaker 3 (02:00:09):
He did, and you know what we're taught as defenders.
We got to catch all the tips and overthrow. So
there's a lot of that being happening and today's slave
the games.
Speaker 2 (02:00:18):
So the Ravens ended up winning on Thursday night against
the Dolphins, and you're maybe looking at that Colt Steelers
game being like, ah, things are going to get tight
in the AFC. North Steelers got the win today, so
they keep a little breathing room where the NFC North
Green Bay loses. We just talked about the Vikings going
to Detroit and beating the Lions, and then the Bears
end up surviving the way that they do. There is
(02:00:39):
a log jam five two and one Green Bay, Minnesota's
four and four, Bears are five and three, Lions are
five and three, so that division is up for GREST
and AFC right now.
Speaker 3 (02:00:48):
If the playoffs started today, the Chiefs and the Ravens
wouldn't be in the playoffs. So that's where we stand
right now.
Speaker 4 (02:00:53):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (02:00:53):
I love that there was a point where they would
do the in the hunt, but they would do this
in like week five. Yes, well you have fourteen teams.
There's sixteen teams in a conference, you know, like of course,
everybody's still in the hunt right now. Today completely wiped
out my point that I thought earlier this week that
the seven teams in the NFC. I still think that way.
(02:01:13):
I still think the Eagles win the NFC East, and
I'll take the Packers and Lions from the NFC North
despite the losses. I was taking the Buccaneers. Here come
the Panthers. We'll take the Bucks to win the South.
And then I think the NFC West gets three teams
with the Rams, Niners, and Seahawks. Will see if the
Seahawks can win like the Rams and Niners did today. Yeah,
they need to win tonight. It'll be maybe a revenge
(02:01:34):
game for Dan Quinn, who is the once defensive coordinator
in Seattle. We shall see four carry roads. I'm Dan byer.
We'll talk to you in week ten.
