Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports. Let's go, Arety, Let's go.
You should be happy. You should be happy. Your patriots are.
Your Patriots are back in the Super Bowl. Stop it.
It makes me sick, by the way, you know the
(00:21):
I I gotta tell you it is disgusting and breaking news.
I want to start off with this because on a
serious note, before we get into it and have fun,
um just being reported. Tom Brady is okay after that
vicious roughing the passer call where um, somebody's arm brushed him,
um on the shoulder. So he is okay. I I
(00:43):
know everybody was worried about that. He is. That's really
where you're gonna start is complaining about a roughing the
passer call. The game was over, the game was Are
you serious? We're second down play that was thrown down?
The roughing the pass a call? Oh, come on, Arnie,
that's not where you know what you know what I'm doing?
(01:05):
You think that was the difference in the game. You're
coming in one of the most magical fourth quarters in
overtimes we've seen between two teams. Were By the way,
Chief fans, you got a few breaks in there as
well too. You're gonna sit here and try to say, oh,
the roughing the pastor call was the difference in the game,
You're gonna die. It was. It was the bogus off sides,
(01:25):
lighting up off sides when you picked the ball off
bogus off sides. I'm glad you saw it my way.
Oh my gosh, Arnie, I I feel bad for people.
You're right, the officiating was just great today. Both games,
they were fantastic. I'm telling you that second game, the
Chief's got as many breaks as the Patriots did. I
mean half those passive affarets, calls that the Chief Scott
(01:48):
late were ridiculous. And listen, I'm not here to tell
you that anything was positive for officials today. But the
last thing Chief fans can complain about today is officiating.
They had every opportunity to win that game, and I
feel awful for him. And oh, by the way, it
was in Arrowhead too, it was on your home field.
And all I heard, real quick, go ahead, well, go ahead,
(02:10):
no no, I just just real quick. When you said
you had every opportunity to win the game, they had
every opportunity to win the game except it over time
when they never got the ball stop him. You had
three stop him? Are you really gonna defend that defense? Now?
They were in the same damn play on third and
long three times and they couldn't stop it. And you're
gonna sit here and goat call? Got no except greatness
(02:35):
take the l Now put me on with Chris Brussar
now that his partner Rob Parker is moving to Mexico.
I am ready I've cut my teeth enough here, Scott
on Sunday nights. Let's go Now, are you really that's
the hill you're gonna die on? That d Ford wasn't offside?
You're gonna go with with Tom Brady had nothing to
do with this? You're really that bitter that that bogus
(02:57):
roughing the pastor call was a big call there, Chris,
don't pretend like it was. And it goes from third
and ten. Uh to first intend that that was? I mean,
that was the difference maker there. That was one of
the worst calls I've ever seen in my life. He
he wouldn't even hit yet alone rough I I don't
know why these referees. I may let's let's say they
don't call it. What chiefs Defense done to prove to
(03:19):
you that they would have stopped him on third and law.
I think I think I'm gonna have to put in
my four month notice so I can becoming an NFL offish.
So I'm sorry, how long does it take you? About
a month and becoming the NFL and fish like I get,
assuming it's not heard of a job. I think I'm
gonna have to start doing that doesn't say that well,
but I've got something for Saints fan as well. To
boo hoo and about that bad poll. Let me tell
(03:42):
you the same thing that I got told to me
after the tuck rule call. And you gotta live with this,
Saints fan. You had every opportunity to stop the Rams
after that. You had every opportunity to stop him. And
guess what you didn't mean today? Well, it's just I
can't stand whenever people just can't embrace greatness. And Arnie,
(04:03):
it's time for you to pull off the mask. I
know what you're doing here. You're trying to pave the
way to pick what you're gonna call now probably your rams.
Let's go another super Bowl title for your Patriots and
let it happen thirty one, my Rams, I'm gonna be
the first to give their Super Bowl prediction. You know,
(04:24):
by the way, I just always the first to do it.
I saw this. Congratulations team Congenius. You absolutely nailed the
Rams Saints game. Rams win with a walk off field goal.
Did you say that? Yeah? You go? Okay, Now that'll
be the positive for tonight. The rest the rest of
our Twitter feed is kind of an s show at that,
(04:44):
and we'll get to it coming up. We want to
take calls or am I afraid it's gonna be all
Saint calls and all Kansas City calls? Well, I mean,
I can completely understand, but I just want you all
to remember all the great advice you gave to other
fan bases that have had bad calls. Go against them.
That's all I'm asking. No, disagregious Chris, come on, I'm
sorry to that in the game. Was that that would
(05:05):
that have ended the game? Was that the last play
of the game. No, you had an opportunity still to
go out there and stop them. And guess what the
Saints didn't do. They didn't You had some dope in
defort He's gonna make a lot of money this offseason,
not just lined off, lined up kind of off sides, Artie.
I mean, he looked down the line at the ball,
(05:26):
he looked down er he was off side. You can't
make mistakes like that and give Tom Brady more opportunities.
And by the way, I don't know if you caught
this or not any but the Patriots had everything in
their power to keep the Chiefs in this game. A
couple of turnovers, the fourth down conversion that didn't go
their way. I mean, the Chiefs should have won this
(05:49):
game going away with some of the opportunities that the
Patriots gave him, and they didn't wait Buckaroo. In the
first half. It was nothing but the Patriots. I mean,
at one time it was like what hundred and fifty
seven yards to minus five yards and what was the
score or seven nothing at that point, right exactly? Seven
zep seven zip. They didn't cash in. Whenever they had
(06:10):
the opportunity. At first in goal, Brady throws a pick
to some dude named Reggie Raglan who got cut by
the Bills. You know. I mean, there's just crazy things
that happened in this game to where I kept thinking,
all right, the Chiefs are gonna take advantage of these opportunities,
They're going to cash it in. And it just never happened.
And by the way, can I ask just one of
the question, I'll quit being the angry guy tonight and
let you take over your role. Why would the dudes
(06:33):
jump on the field and streak when the Chiefs had
just taken the lead for the first that? Yeah, I
guess that's what I'm assuming that's went on unless you
have a special TV that showed it. Right. No, no, no, no,
they cut it because you could hear the confusion from
Tony Romo, because they just stayed on the shot of
what I think a couple of Chiefs guys maybe his
Patriots guys on the sidelines and the Chiefs had just
(06:54):
taken the lead, and I was thinking to myself, why
would you get kicked out of a game where your
team just took the lead where they could be going
to the Super Bowl for I would guess, Arnie, the
first time in this dude's lifetime that's drawn around on
the field, it's called I don't know if you ever
had that, but I'm sure it was an excess for
that guy. All right, So what how do we how
(07:16):
do we compartmentalize today? Arnie? Obviously I know you, Uh,
it had nothing to do with Tom Brady's pinpoint accuracy.
It's all about the officials cheating for him and uh
and I guess basically, the Saints didn't have an opportunity
to stop the Rams. So where do we take over
from here on what happened today in the NFC and
af C Championship games? Because I don't even know where
you sorry, I'd love to take calls tonight at eight seven,
(07:37):
seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven six three
six nine, and I would imagine it would mostly be
either angry Saints fans and I understand it, it would
be angry Chief fans, and I completely get it. I'm
sure the Patriot fans would be overbearing tonight for you.
I do agree with you. All four teams, obviously, the
two winners and even the two losers had their opportunities
(07:58):
to win the game. I mean, as especially the Saints,
who should have put away the Rams. I did. I
thought that one was gonna actually be a blowout. The
way the Rams looked in the first and the way
the Patriots were man handling Kansas City, I thought for
a second it was gonna be another thirty seven game
at halftime. So, um, all four teams and the two
losers certainly other chances to win the game. All so
I agree with you on that. Well, I mean you
(08:20):
you turned off the Saints Rams game after the first quarter.
According to your Twitter feed, the Twitter bring you back
to that game? Is that what find you get back
once they got into it. I'm like, yeah, I better
go ahead and turn off one in order and get
back to the game. Now, well, we come to the
unit from the getic Fox Sports radio studios. Fifteen minutes
could save you fifteen or more on car insurance. Visit
guy quote dot com for a free rate quote. So
(08:42):
here here's kind of my question to you tonight Will
Will Tonight Show, And I guess maybe you say the
lasting memory of this weekend is it going to be
two incredible games and went down to the wire or
are we going to have kind of deflate gate slash
tuck rule feel to the next couple of weeks with
the way that maybe more specifically the Rams Saints game ended.
(09:03):
Does that dominate the conversation over the next couple of
weeks leading into the Super Bowl or do we reach
this point where we kind of move past it, or
is this the story that we talk about non stuff
I I don't sit on the fence, but I think
it's gonna be a little bit of both. I think
we're gonna say, yes, it was two incredible games, both
of them go into overtime to go to the super Bowl.
So we're gonna remember that. But when Sean Payton comes
(09:24):
out of the locker room and the first thing he
said is the NFL of Officiating called me and they
said they blew the call. I mean, that's what he's
talking about. So if if the losing coaches talking about that,
what do you think the media is gonna talk about?
What do you think the fans are gonna talk about
the players are gonna talk about. I mean, that's a
tough pill to swallow, that one call, uh, and all
of a sudden, you're not going to the the super Bowl.
(09:46):
You worked all hard all year for that, So of
course that's gonna be a factor. Also, if you're Sean Payton,
here here's and I kind of know how you would
handle this, Arenie, And I think I know how I
would handle it too. I think we would be on
every show possible. I think we'd be screaming from the
top of the rooftops and we got hose. The NFL
needs to fix it. This is pathetic. We should be
(10:06):
here because we don't want anyone to be happy whenever
we lose, right and we we want everyone to be miserable.
But if you're Sean Payton, do you handle this like this?
I mean, trust me, There's plenty of opportunities to jump
on radio, from Fox Sports Radio to UH podcasts out there,
to TV shows to Fox Sports One. We have a
(10:27):
lot of live programming. Do you do you go, say
Urban Meyer trying to campaign yourself into the four team
playoffs like we had to do a couple of years ago.
Do you get on every outlet you can to make
sure that it's known you don't feel like the right
team is there? Well? You mean it should? He not
be telling the truth? Is that? Is that? What you're
is that? What you're asking me? Well, tell the truth
(10:48):
sometimes can come across as a little bit of bitterness.
People will quickly turn on you if you're out crying
all the time. But that's what happened though the west
Ip taking his word for it, the NFL officiated called
him up and today we blew the call. Not only
was it pass interference on his helmet, the helmet. Were
not only blew it once, we blew and twice on
that thing. It should have been first down I could
(11:09):
have been you know, ninety would have made all the
difference in the world. Are you Are you saying he
should go on shows and say, um, we're on the
nine one. What do you wanted to say? Chris, shut up,
be quiet. That's easy for you to say you didn't lose. Yeah,
I wasn't a dope that was throwing the ball when
I could milk the clock down inside the red zone
(11:30):
with time winding down in the game, where I could
have the Rams suck away all their time outs by
maybe running Ingram. Or you're talking about the pass up
first down? Is that what you're talking about? Yeah, the
pass on first down. Hell to pass on second down?
Then they vote on second down too, But I'm not sure.
I wrote like three pages of notes and as as
I look over them and I sent them to you,
and they don't even make sense anymore. Well, no, they Well,
(11:51):
here's what happened is this morning was so crazy and
it was so wilder this you know, late afternoon, depending
on which times and that you're in that you early
get to decompress from that game and kind of have
a moment where you let your head clear, because we
go right into kicking off the second game, which I
love because I can't stand TV pregame shows anymore. So
(12:12):
unless I get of that to better off I am.
Unless it's j Glazer, I'm ready to move on. And
so when Fox's game was over, we legitimately went right
into the afternoon game, or the evening game, if you so,
there wasn't really an opportunity to truly make sense of
what had happened in that first game, and then by
what midway through the third quarter of the Chiefs Patriots
(12:33):
kame arty. You say, you look at your notes and
they don't make sense. That's because we had forgotten about
all the madness outside of say Saints fans and Rams
fan that had happened in that early game. Because everything
just seemed to be so insane with what was going
on in the afternoon. It was like that little light
and men and black. We just forgot everything from the
early game. Now we gotta go back and try to
make sense of it. I mean, there was so many
(12:53):
big plays we're talking about the ending. I didn't even
get to the did Edelman touch it? On the uh
on the kickoff? I'm like, there's no way they can
overturn that. No way impossible that there's not enough proof
they overturned that. But the karma happens that they get
the interception. I mean, this is this is a game
I'd like to watch all over again and and do
(13:14):
it and do it again, you know what I mean.
I'd almost you know, during the during the summer months,
if you know when when when we're doing the show,
we almost need to have a watch along on on
one night, maybe take one Sunday night whenever we're just
getting started in the baseball season and the draft is
over and we pop the a f C Championship game
in for a couple of an hour and a half
(13:34):
and because we could probably watch most football games in
about an hour and a half if you cut if
even that, maybe even an hour. Because I'm like you,
there's certain things that you bring up like the Edelman
did he or did he touch the ball? And following
Twitter at that moment, and how how sure we were that, oh,
they can't overturn it? And sure enough, whenever the headset
(13:54):
was taken off, you see the official look at Andy
Reid shake his head no, and you're like, oh my gosh,
they're going to return this uh from a couple of
the catches. And then to see just how clueless I
think we still are, and I say we the royal
we aren't when it comes to catch rules, because you
had the Chris Hogan catch, uh that that he had
made right across our Kevin Kevin anyway, that made the
(14:16):
catch right across the middle, and it looked like the
ball moved, but yet he had never lost possession. So
that's not an incompletion. Oh, it was just it was
crazy to truly see the insanity that the afternoon games
brought us. The evening game brought us because it made
us almost forget about the craziness we saw there a
witnessed during the morning. It's great, it was a great day. Well,
(14:37):
I mean both of the games. They should just replay
him instantly, forget about the nightly news on on Sunday night.
Play them both back. I mean, they were very entertaining,
both of them are. It's a shame that when it
comes down to the very end, we're gonna be thinking
about the officiating in both cases. I don't know if
the officiating is gonna make that much of a difference
in the Kansas City Patriot game like it will like
(14:58):
everybody will talk about in the m Saints games, because
I promise you everybody's talking about it. Why that wasn't
called that pass interference? Well, when we come back to
the guy called Fox Sports Radio Studios, we'll dive into
some Twitter. We we got Todd Ferman coming up in
our final hour to give us some early looks in
the odds. The early line right now has the Rams
and the Patriots as a picking. We'll talk about it
(15:19):
next with Arnion Plank on Fox Sports Radio. From a
car landing on a roof to a car landing in
the pool, we've covered it. Talk to farmers, we know
a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
We are farmers under written my farmers truck fire insurance
exchanges and affiliates products unavailable in every state. Artian Plank
(15:41):
on Fox Sports Radio. Lines are jammed up. We'll get
you in just a second. By the way, shouts out
to Ramos, Sean Ramos, who has to come in tonight
despite going to celebrate the Rams making the Super Bowl.
I'm sorry, Ramos, okay and producing tonight. So Eric and
(16:01):
Bobo worked earlier today, so they get to enjoy the
evening off. But we're still full goal disagra on updates
coming up here in just a bit. And Tom Brady
is okay after that vicious roughing. He is going to
be okay. Thank goodness for that. I was so worried
about that career ending injury. Yeah, scary stuff. All right,
(16:23):
let's go to New Jersey, Tony. We'll kick it off
here on Fox Sports Radio tonight. Good evening, Tony. Hey, guys,
how are you love the shows? All right? First point
is regarding the Saints Rams game. If you take a
look to you know, on the first down play the
throw the incomplete to Michael Thomas right after the two
(16:45):
minute warning when they got the first down, they were
clearly supposed to run there, let them, let them call
the time out, put them on edge, and you've got
two good running backs. Com or can break free for
a first and any time and the game is over
right there. But what do they do. They throw an
incomplete pass and they end up picking the I'm out
after the two minute warnings. I mean that was just poor.
I mean, that's what we expected and you read to do.
(17:06):
But so that's the first point. So really that that's
really the part that I think that's where the Saints
lost day, And the Saints always put themselves in this position.
They let the Eagles hang on. They a lot of
people could say they got lucky letting the Eagles get
that close. If that wasn't an interception drop, we don't
know where the Saints would beat this week. So I
mean this this wasn't really that big of a surprise
if you look at their recent games, and that play
(17:27):
call on first done was just terrible. You gotta run
the ball. The next thing I want to just say
about the Chiefs Patriots game, this game ended exactly how
they played their entire season. They score points, and then
when they lose their games, they lose them all the
same way. They score and then the other team has
enough time to come back and score and win. There's
nothing to do with my homes, has nothing to do
with the offense. They just lost those chargers. They lost
(17:49):
to the Charges because the Charges came back and scored,
and they went for two because they knew they could
score on the defense. When they lost to the Patriots
this year, Mahomes tied the game forty up, and then
they gave some pretty enough time to go down and core.
If you had to tell me, the one thing I
didn't want to do this year with the Chiefs is
have to rely on their defense to stop the Hall
of Fame quarterback or the goat to go to the
(18:10):
super Bowl. That's actually it was the bad decition. I mean,
you just I listened. No matter what. I don't care
about the calls. I'm sorry. He's still good. They're too
good against that defense, and they have to add players.
Very's getting old and you know he's coming back from
healthy injuries he achilles and elsewhere. They got no good corners.
Fuller didn't look so good out there. I mean, nobody
looked good out there. The Houston disappeared, and that's what
(18:31):
good teams do. But they had no past rush inside
today two and that will be something else that will
be excited. But thanks, guys, I love I totally appreciate
the callow. He got a lot. We have to pay
him as our co host. Now, um, we wouldn't have.
You know, the Chiefs did play defense. That's when they
got the interception. When they blitzed Brady, and they got
the interception, but they called the off sides. That's when
(18:52):
they got at the third and ten. But they called
rough in the past or, So he can't blame it
all on the Kansas City defense. Plus there was what
two too left, I believe. So, No, the interception wasn't
on the The interception wasn't roughing the pass or the
off sides? Was the interception the sorry, yeah you said
the interception on the rough in the pastor call, which again,
(19:13):
we could debate all night, and you can make it
your focal point of the argument. But you basically missed
the most most of the game. If that's what you're
gonna complain about, Tony, you know you really, if that's
gonna be you're talking point tonight. Oh, I can't believe
that past interference call. I can't dog the Chiefs secondary
too terribly much. Wasn't the same play that beat him
over and over? Yes, but dudes were there, Arn'tie. I
(19:35):
thought guys were there to make plays. Brady just put
it in a spot where you couldn't make a play,
and and three guys he Tony on the head, Three
guys who had been dominating for the Chiefs defense in
in their win last week, and by the way, we
should go back in the way they played down the
stretch with Justin Houston, Chris Jones, and d Ford and
(19:58):
I felt like the only time we called of their
names tonight was when they were making mistakes. I don't
remember Houston's name being called at all. So again, just
a very unique evening if you haven't paid attention to
the Chiefs this season defensively. And you know what, here's
the other crazy part to me, how did the Patriots
really attack him early? They kept the ball away from him.
(20:20):
They they just decide, we're gonna pound the ball, We're
gonna keep the ball away from you. And that's exactly
what they tried to do in that football game. Every
time they hiked the ball. I'm talking about the Patriots,
I would keep my eye on Edelman and I'm like,
he's open again. And he was open, like right off
the line. It was like they didn't even they had
no answer for him. I go, you're gonna have to
double team him, You're gonna have to make him throw
it to somebody else. I can't think it anymore. He's
(20:43):
just picking you apart. And then you let Rob Gronkowski
chew you up also, and of course Gronkowski had that
big what was it, the third down catch alog somebody?
That was another crusher. You knew they were gonna go
ahead and punch it in in Kansas City. Was never
gonna get the ball back after the Patriots punched it in.
Another thing we're gonna have to deal with with overtime. Also, Okay, well,
(21:04):
let's let's table that. Let's let's get another Tony in
here real quick. Tony in California is next up on
Fox Sports, Righty, I do want to talk over time
with you though, Annie. What's going on? Tony? Welcome to
the show. Hey, the Rams are lucky that they didn't
called for that pass interference, but the Saints are lucky
that the defender wasn't paying attention and got the interception
or even a pick six right there. Because that pass
(21:27):
I'm not sure if Drew Brees were trying to throw
a touchdown or was he trying to get a pass
interference and hit the defender in the head, because there's
now away the receiver would have caught it. I think
he was trying to go for a penalty, and if
the receiver was paying attention, he would have seen it
and caught it, and you got to pick six. The
game would have been over for the Rams right there.
He played the die, not the ball. That's not a
(21:48):
touchdown pass that there's no way you can score a touchdown.
Drew Brees must have been trying to get a penalty
with that throw. It's like he would have hit the
defender in the back. The receiver was on the sideline,
and the the ball is in inside the numbers. It's like,
what is he doing? Who's he throwing it too? He's
trying to get a penalty, that's all. And he well, look,
(22:09):
I appreciate the call. I think what he was doing
for the you know that back shoulder pass, you know
that they like to do so much, But it was
so under throwne were he wasn't paying attention, so it
was either gonna get picked off or because me, it
was either gonna be caught or there was going to
be passed interference. They got neither of them. I kind
of agree with him to a certain point. I've watched
(22:29):
that play a bazillion times, because everyone who has a
Twitter feed that knows how to upload video has uploaded
video of that play, Arnie, So I've seen it every
person that I follow on Twitter. Um. With that said,
I kept wondering if it was a catchable ball after
watching it the first fifteen times, Then after watching it
the next fifteen times, I realized, Yeah, I think that
was a pretty catchable ball. I think you just have
(22:52):
you just have to accept it for what it was.
It was a missed p I it was probably a
missed helmet to helmet called to and Arnie, Tony in
California's right, if dude from New Orleans plays the ball
and looks up, he might pick it off because it
looked like it was gonna fall. Maybe just a scoach
is short, but he doesn't even look back for the football.
(23:15):
And trust me, Arnie, I covered a team whose cornerbacks
did not look back for the football all season long.
So I kind of have seen that a bazillion times.
But yeah, I just an egregious, egregious no call in
that game. Nicole Nicole Robie Coleman, who actually knocked out
Tommy Lee Lewis on that final play, two names that
we all had as our ex factors going into this
(23:36):
week's game. All right, listen, lines are jammed up, someone
drops off you jump. On eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox, We're reacting to an incredible day of championship
football action, from the just the wild finish between the
Rams and the Saints to the insane finished between the
Patriots and the Chiefs. Though we had all seen that
movie before in Kansas City with New England will dive
(23:57):
into a deeper coming up next year on Fox Sports Radio.
But first from the getic Fox Sports Radio studios, the
third member of our crew, Steve to Sagers in the house,
what's going on, Steve, Yeah, we had seen that movie before.
We mentioned with Arnie last night. The Kansas City's defense
allowed over four hundred yards per game this year, thirty
feet in the league and yards allowed next to last,
and twice I'm saying to the guys here in the
(24:18):
studio game, wait a minute. You have Tom Brady in
the last two minutes of a playoff game against the
next to last rag defense, and then the Patriots win
the coin toss and Patrick Mahomes never touches the ball.
Thirty one New England wins in overtime at Kansas City
to take yet another a f C championship. That final
drive was thirteen play seventy five yards. Meanwhile, the Rams
(24:41):
kicked a fifty seven yard field goal in overtime to
win the NFC title at New Orleans three. So in
a couple of weeks, guys in Atlanta, Super Bowl fifty
three has the Rams against New England exactly seventeen years
to the day since the Rams were upset by New
England on the minitary field goal. And it's gonna be
veteran Tom Brady against young Jared Goff as the starting quarterbacks.
(25:04):
Age difference of seventeen years between those two that will
be the largest age gap between opposing starting qbs in
Super Bowl history. So tonight, including all the coals, all
the back and forth, an incredible, incredible day of the NFL,
and there had never been a season where both conference
championship games went into overtime in the Super Bowl era.
(25:26):
You mentioned how Patrick Mahomes was kept off the field
in the first half. You know, the Patriots wound up
running ninety four plays in this game in the first half,
and it could have been twenty one nothing by halftime
pretty easily without that interception in the end zone. Statistically,
in the first half, each team had four drives, Chiefs
only three first downs. New England had sixteen first downs,
(25:48):
New England converting third downs all the way to the end.
It was in the first half forty two plays to
sixteen New England almost two fifty yards to thirty two.
Chuck Mahomes was sacked three times in the first half.
Time of possession was twenty one minutes to nine. And
still this game comes up with that incredible fourth quarter,
with five touchdowns scored in the fourth and the league
(26:11):
going back and forth. New England does finish not only
with the win, but over five hundred yards of offense
and thirty six first downs. And last week New England
had nearly five hundred yards of offense and thirty first
downs against the Chargers. Last week they scored points on
seven of the first nine drives. They weren't scoring here
and the chief stayed in the game. But now Ksey,
(26:31):
which was eight and one at home, their season is over.
And of course, speaking of success at home, Drew Brees
had been undefeated in New Orleans in his postseason career
six and oh until the Rams comeback win today. The
Rams were down thirteen nothing after the first quarter. Win
it in overtime. Online car shopping can be confusing, not anymore.

but the week after that, so stay tuned, guys. How
about this stat thanks a lot to Sager as we
come to live in the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios.
(27:57):
What does it mean when Geico says just fifteen minutes
could save or more on car insurance? Well, I mean
you probably should have gone to Geo dot com fifteen
minutes ago. Got this from Josh Dubois, who covers my world.
He covers the Raiders, but he's the associated press writer
for the NFL and the ap AP in the Bay Area.
Since the NFL changed it's over time rules and two
(28:18):
thousand and twelve, this is crazy. I thought this would
be more one sided. The team that starts first with
the football is sixty fifty one and seven after today.
Before change the rules, I think they were about like
for the team because the whole theory is and again
(28:41):
I know that I love the college football playoff. I'm sorry.
The college football over time well, I think it'd be great.
I wouldn't even mind if you did a soccer over
time rule where you put fifteen on the board and
let's go. But it's not really as one sided as
we always think. Now, will this institute some sort of
change change? I don't think so, But the NFL has
(29:02):
done small things here and there to try to improve it.
I don't know, Arnie. Do we point a finger at
an archaic overtime rule and change it here or do
we just accept that the NFL is always going to
be different. Nor we do have to change it a
little bit. We gotta get rid of the ten minute
thing and go back to fifteen minutes. I think that's
a that's a major major problem because then teams just
make walk and and we don't give a chance for
(29:25):
the other team to get the ball. So we have
to do that. And by the way, like you remember
the tuck rule which has bothered you for so many years. Dear,
what did you know what Sean Payton said after the
game today? You think I'm making a big deal about this.
I like the way you're hanging your hat on the officials,
You're hanging your hat. You're hanging your hat on the refing.
The pastor said it correct, Quinny misrepresenting what I'm calling
(29:48):
you out, And son Peyton said the Saints will never
get over the blown pass their interference call, meaning that
until they die, they'll never get over. There's certain calls
you'll always remember until you'll die, the tuck rule, this
non call on the past interference, the three times we
(30:10):
gave the Russians a chance to beat us in the
call that out. We always remember stuff like that when
we get cheated. This will be one of them and
the bogus has the bogus roughing the passer call. I've
got ten dollars right now that you couldn't even tell
me the receiver who was p ied alleged on the
on the on the what the Saints? Yeah, on the
(30:30):
Saints on the p I that you're talking about. That
will never forget because I was so in shocked that
I wasn't called. But we're never gonna forget it. What
kind of coaching is that? What kind of coaching will
never get over? They shut up, never get over it
ever you're dead, and well I guess not, especially if
(30:51):
you had money on the Los Angele the New Orleans Saints.
Let's go to Michigan. Greg is next up on Fox
Sports Radio at eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.
What's going On? Greg, Hey guys, Hey, I wanted to
talk about the overtime rule too. I just really don't
think it's very fair that someone uh wins the coin
toss and then they can go all the way down
(31:12):
for a touchdown and the other team doesn't even get
a shot at even touching the ball. I mean, the
defenses are tired. I understand that, but if Mahomes would
have got it, the Chiefs might have I mean, if
the Chiefs would have won the toss, Mahomes might have
won the game. I just don't like that rule particular
(31:32):
season or in the post. No. No, And I appreciate
the call I guess Christeli other answers give each team
do it like they do it in college, where you
get the ball at the thirty five, or maybe even
move it back five yards to like the forty and
figure it out that way that might be the best way,
or stop them, you know, I I know that that's
not the real popular Well, I just it's kind of funny.
(31:57):
It's we hate the New England Patriots so much that
whenever they taken and if the if the Chiefs would
have scored without the Patriots touching the football, what do
we have this outcry about the overtime rules. That's that's
by the way, Joshon Boy does does point this out.
So we had brought up the number here real quick
before we get back to the phones. At eight seven seven,
(32:18):
Fox had brought up the number about the team that
had the football first. Since the NFL changed its overtime
rules in two thousand and twelve, they've won sixty, they've
lost fifty one, and they've tied seven after today. But
the crazy stat four of the six playoff games that
have gone to overtime out of the new rules ended
with TVs on the first possession, So at least in
overtime right there there. Four and two. By the way,

right up against a break. Maybe get one more call in.
All right, let's go ahead, let's slide in one more,
let's go north of the border. Tony is in Vancouver
and he's next up on Fox Sports Radio. What's going on, Tony?
Are you going to hear a lot about Sean Payton
did this or he should have done that? I'm sorry, Yeah,
that that call, that that interference call was wide open.
(33:24):
There was no other players in the area. It was
wide open though it was there. I don't know what
the rent we were looking at. What it's horrible, non
caut horrible non call. No one's arguing that, I don't think.
I mean, yeah, they took the super but they affected
the outcome of that game. And you can say that,
you know rann Or did that. You know it would
(33:44):
have been the first down three needs in the field goal. Bravo, bravo.
Point there you go. How about that? Okay? Great? If
they didn't get it, then what are you gonna do?
Go into a hole and not just cry about it? Gas.
Their fans will never forget it, the players will never
forget it. Just like Sean Payton said, We'll never forget it. Hey, Arnie,
(34:06):
guess what Saints started the overtime with the football. Why
not just go down to score and in the damn thing?
I mean, I understand, yes, no one is arguing that
was a really bad call, but bottom line, they still
would have had to make the field goal, which look good.
I'm not arguing that be there would have been a
little bit of time left on the clock. You say,
(34:27):
three knees in a field goal with the Rams had
one time I left whenever that happens, there would have
been a scochie amount of time. But then see, even
after the bad call, you had every opportunity to stop
this team. They still had to drive down with the minute.
You're telling me the Rams didn't have to do anything
to force overtime, and that game, you tell me zor
Line didn't have to kick a forty eight yard field
goal and then bloom home. What about a ninety eight
yard field goal and overtime? Boo who buckaroos plaited a
(34:49):
bit I wanted on the sets that could you imagine
if I was an NFL official, I blew a call
where they got a field goal at the end of regulation,
the sendant overtime, and I went on said, yeah, I
blew the call, but hey, what the play day fens.
Come on now, don't let that define you, because it's
called coaching, Arny, it's called coaching. It's called doing your job.
(35:09):
Have you watched the NFL this year? What do you
bitch about every single night on this show that we
do it? Officiating is awful. I could be an official. Well,
you better be prepared then you're gonna have some bad
calls go against you. Yeah it was a bad call. Yeah,
may have costs in the game, but guess what, they
had multiple opportunities to go out and stop the Rams period.
End of discussion. Yeah you got hosed. Do something about it.
(35:31):
It's all I've heard for whatever. Long after the talk
rule game, we'll talk real bad call. But you had
all these opportunities to stop him. What do you do?
You go stop him? If you're a championship team. Teams
work so hard to get to this point and to
get hosed on a such a blatant call or non
call like that, Hey, that's a tough pill to swallow,
(35:53):
my friend. And the same thing goes for the Kansas
City Chiefs. When you have Brady and the Patriots on
the rope, it's bad enough trying to stop them yet
a loan some fogus roughing the passer call. Yeah, it
hurts a little bit. It hurts a lot of bit.
Aren't you keep bringing up a roughing the passer call
that was a second down play as if it just
changed the whole game. But I understand I'm not gonna
(36:15):
be able to talk to you out of it. There's
people that call Tom Brady lucky, all right, So I
can't do anything to change your mind, all right. When
we come back to the guy called Fox Sports Radio Studios,
we'll have much more of your call to Dight seven
seven ninety nine on Fox. Your tweets at Plank show
at stink ingenious one. As we're live from the guy
called Fox Sports Radio Studio Aarnie Plank on Fox. From
(36:36):

(36:58):
I like this, Yeah, I like this from sundown at
MP mail. The blatantly wrong call was also a morale
booster and the incredibly careless off side costs the Chiefs
the Super Bowl. Well, you're right on the latter moralebuster
what I say, booster booster buster sl slight difference between
those two, good catch. I don't disagree with either one
(37:21):
of your points. So on a lot of parts, who
you're pointing finger at then on the careless off sides
that's player on the first part. Uh yeah, we're pro
players here. This is the NFL. This isn't high school,
this isn't college. Mommy's not waiting for you to feedure
your orange slice. That's a twenty four million dollar quarterback,
that's a fourteen million dollar defensive end, and Cam Jordan's
(37:45):
you know, that's a five million dollar running back and
mark Ingram make a play. I'm not trying to deny
anything as far as the bad call. It's just I've
had already many years of fair repee over the tok
cruel game have got me to this point where you
have to accept that you had a chance to make
(38:06):
some plays. And yeah, it's gonna suck, Saint Fan, I
got nothing for you on that front. And you can
call and you can yell at me all you want tonight,
but you're going to have to accept it yourself that
you still had opportunities to win that game. And I
love this if you're on hole police hanging there, because
I want to give everyone plenty of time. Ed California,
Bill and Williamsburg, Georgie and Corey in South Dakota, Finch
(38:27):
and treport. We're gonna you want to apologize to be
real quick about Drew Breeze. Is that what you wanted
to do real quick? Why would I apologize about triple Okay,
got another loss. That was another good one there through
that interception. Way to go ahead and choke that one away? Yeah, Yeah,
he's still a Hall of Famer, Arnie. I don't think
the Hall of Favorite with another loss under his back. Hey,
I don't think you're going to yank his Hall of
(38:48):
Fame jacket because he lost in the NFC Championship Game.
But disagree with you on that front. Here here's the
thing that's that's going to be real interesting. It is
what you just said. What did you automatically go to
after that. Oh well, that Drew Breese legacy, that call,
you could argue has shifted legacy talk and Sean Payton
(39:11):
even talking. It does not. If you're a firm believer
that the Saints are so weak minded that they couldn't
hike their shorts up and make some place to stop
the rams, then you're going and you just did you
believe that team is so weak that they couldn't backbone
up and make a play. So now Sean Payton can't
get it done as a head coach again, Drew Breese,
(39:32):
Oh my gosh, she just loses the big game. And now,
I mean two years in a row. This is a
team that just is doomed to have a heartbreak, and
it's changed the way people view their legacies. I mean
even you, you just did it there with your breeze. Well,
I mean that's what everybody obviously, that's the first thing
that comes to my mind. I'm like, Okay, here's another
(39:52):
big loss. And then yeah, Sean Payton's crying about it.
They'll never get over something like that. That. Look, Chris
Edwin stings, you don't know few about teams out of
walls like that. Except for the thug roll, but they
stick with you like for your life, and you never
get over something like that. I've seen plays like that
in regular season and that where an official blows a
(40:13):
call that could have been in the game. This was
an NFC championship. How did these officials have jobs? They
say they get right. I don't believe that I had
a I had a I had a bone to pick
with the damn pool reporter that went in with the referee.
I don't know who it was. But when he says
I haven't seen the play yet, isn't that where you
(40:33):
yank out your phone and you go here. Because I'll
tell you what, I follow enough people on Twitter where
I could have taken care of that for you to
let him get away with saying the referee and I understand,
wasn't his side of the field. Might not have been
his responsibility. Oh no, But if he's trying to tell
you he hadn't seen the play, show him all right?
Your calls coming up next? Your tweets as well too.
(40:54):
It's the Rams, it's the Patriots in the Super Bowl.
We're breaking it down a Fox Sports Radio sta our too,
coming to you live from the guy who Fox Sports
Radio Studios where fifteen minutes could save you fift or
more on car insurance. Todd Furrman is coming up in
our next segment. Yes, all, I gotta point out something
(41:17):
on Twitter that I vehemently or as my daughter pronounces it,
vehemently disagree with. And I don't know, y' all can
call me crazy, but our buddy Bill checked in. Who
I think I think is a chief stand. He tweets
at us and says, the bogus focused boy, what's wrong
with my speaking tonight? The bogus casey offsides call changed
(41:37):
the game. The refs just needed the Patriots to be
in the super Bowl for the ratings. Baby, all right,
I call me crazy, but I think if I'm the NFL,
I'm not necessarily thinking the Patriots are the big ratings draw.
Am I crazy? Thinking the fresh blood of Mahomes and
the excitement of that offense and some of the playmakers
(41:59):
they have. Eric Berry's got an incredible story. There is
almost a part of me that if you're if you're
Roger Goodell and you're flipping the switch, it would make
a lot more sense to try to fix that Saints
Rams game than it would the Patriots Chiefs game, I
would almost won Kansas City. And by the way, I
get that's my one stupid question of the night, which
I'm sure there'll be more. Um, why if you're on
(42:20):
offense and you're a wide receiver you can ask the
official if you're lined up off sides, but you can
if you're defense. I don't understand. Maybe if you're the
defender you can, and they just haven't taken advantage of
you over the side, you can't. Jim asks a good
question on Twitter. He wants me to have you ever
seen worse clock management than the Saints, except from maybe
the Falcons in the Super Bowl versus the Patriots. Again,
(42:43):
I'm I am just a bitter Raiders fan. Okay, if
you know where that comes from. I've been told my
whole life. Now, Oh, get over the Chuck role. You
had a chance to stop him. We may be making
a little bit much over the throw on first down,
but still it's not the best idea. Whenever you have
a team that has one time out left, you've got
a good field goal kicker. One field goal ins it.
(43:06):
So I can understand where maybe you look at that
and it's a very egregious call. Whenever you decide to
run the not run the football and make him burn
some time outs there early on. Uh, go ahead. I
was gonna say, By the way, my wife was yelling
at me because of Clay Travis. You heard about that story,
right about Clay. I've got to get some clarity on that.
That was something so new to me. I didn't know
(43:27):
you could buy other people's tickets. They want to try
to cash in fifty seven thousand dollars on the Saints.
Uh yeah, him and uh what cousin sal bought. But
when it has on a ticket for the Saints to
win the Super Bowl, it was bought at eight thousand
dollars at twenty two one before the start of the season.
They paid fifties seven thousand dollars for the ticket, which
(43:50):
would have brought back like a hundred sixty eight thousand,
and of course this Saints lost. My wife is yelling
at me, like we lost the body. I'm like, that's Clay,
He's baked me. I'm not in on it. By the way,
I think their co host who had forty dollars in
on that, so let's make sure we give her credit
on that as well. And then uh one, I'm gonna
we'll last Todd Ferman about that coming up here, and yeah,
(44:11):
Fervan did go in on that for you know, Ferban's
getting left out of all the good stuff. He's like
the fifth stooge that nobody talks about. They always know
the three or four of him. You know that's because
he's always right and he doesn't get in on losing endeavors. Uh.
And then one more quick thought on this t J right, Arnie.
With the Patriots taking the overtime kickoff in for a
(44:32):
t D, the NFL will make changes to overtime next season.
There would be no change if the Chiefs had done it,
but the Patriots doing it won't be tolerated. Tolerated. This
is probably already a done deal. That's kind of been
my joke all along. If the Chiefs would have just
went down and scored, if they got the football, then
no one would be talking about it. How the Saint
had the ball first and overtime against the Rams. No,
(44:54):
but he was talking about it after that game. But
when the Patriots go and do it, it's just it's
whole so awful. They didn't get the ball back. I'll
be curious to see if that's something to I'm sure
it's being talked about already, along with officiating. Yeah, I
don't like the way it's done now. I didn't think
it was gonna be that big of a deal, the
moving from the fifteen to the ten minute mark, which
is what they've done except now in the playoffs and
(45:14):
stays at the fifteen minute mark. Um. I hate that
if you score a touchdown first, you win the game.
We're gonna have to adapt the college rules to make
it fair, to be honest, and I wouldn't mind looking
at some soccer rules either. Boys maybe have a fifteen
minute overtime period and that's it, and if you're still tied,
you have another one. I don't know what we could
go to for golden goal, but still I kind of
wouldn't mind looking at that idea either. Oh. Right, before

um so this may be breaking news. Even though he
had a good passer ratings, Mahomes did not play that well.
(45:56):
I don't know if this is like breaking news for you,
but sixteen a thirty one that's not going to cut
it against the Patriots when you're playing at home. I
know he had the three touchdowns no interceptions, but you
can't rely at the twenty four point fourth quarter. He
has to do a lot more. And I know the
Patriots did a great job with the time of possession,
so you know, put that on the defense. But Mahomes
(46:18):
did not have a great game. I won't agree with you,
and I think part of that is what the Patriots
didn't slowing down the running attack. They only ended up
running the football for uh you got the box with
there was like forty one yards today on twelve carries.
The Chiefs have done a good job even with Damian
Williams throughout the season after Cream hunt Gott suspended, they
used Tyreek Kill running the football. I mean, he'll only
had one catch and that was a big one, but
(46:40):
they can only target him three times, So credit Bill
Belichick and I don't know why they didn't hand him
the ball off. I can't even know what he was
doing all the you know motion and stuff. I'm like,
try it once, let's do something. People get him the
ball for crying out loud, and it's always crazy. I
think about teams like the Raiders or or many others
who talk about the need to we've got to get
(47:00):
better personnel, and here just guys that fit our system better.
And I'm watching Kyle van Noy lead the Patriots and
sacks are lead lead him in tackles with with with
tin tackles in two sacks. I'm watching, you know, Trey
Flowers was a fairly high draft pick, go out there
and get a sack as well, to dudes like h
Roberts and guy making plays like, hey, the heck are
these guys? They always find people that are making plays
(47:22):
for them defensively And when did they make plays? AREN'TI
when they needed in the most? In the an f
C Championship, it's discussed Paul tweets and no one outside
of New England wants to see the paths in there.
Edelman catches another five yard pass on third and four.
Isn't moving the needle? What do we say the Patriots
are like the San Antonio Spurs when they want all
that time or what? And speaking of good tweets, are
(47:44):
probably right. Arnie Ernie the Great opine or wraps it
up on Twitter for this segment with Bill Belichick is
now sixty and one as a coach. When a running
back goes over a hundred yards regular season and playoffs
and again in tonight's are this evening's game? Sony Mitchelle
twenty nine carries a hundred thirteen yards. As a team,
(48:05):
they rushed for nearly two hundred yards. Forty eight carries
a hundred seventy six yards. They had the ball just
a ridiculous amount of time in time of possession. They
did an incredible job in keeping the ball away. Where
was that time of possession difference? Fifty or forty three?
Fifty nine for the Patriots twenty minutes and fifty three
seconds wow for the Chiefs. I mean, that's that's ridiculous.
(48:29):
So sometimes they say it's an overrated stat. Seems like
could really fit in what happened today. All right, Um,
let's let's get back by the way. You're not allowed
to get within five yards of Tom Brady. That's a
new rule that's been passed down for the Super Bowl.
I don't know if you think about this. Uh. Ed
is in California. He's next up on Fox Sports Radio.
What's going on? Ed? Uh? Hey, guys, great show. I'd
(48:51):
love to hear you guys on the radio. Yeah. Well,
you know, I'm calling about the past game. You know,
he started right off with the you know, the Ricky
dick um rough and the pat of call. That was
Rickey Dick. I gotta admit that, right, But but there
were no calls on the other side too. I mean,
groc was being grabbed a number of times. There was
(49:11):
a fourth quarter play where even Tony Wobo pointed it
out with you know where they call that a pick
play or whatever. So, I mean, you know, it's tough,
it's you know, but it was, you know, it's an
emotional Lower Coast. I don't know how to you know,
it was. It was intense watching the game to it.
I almost make it through. Yeah, no, And I appreciate
(49:32):
the call, you know, Chris, we always say we always
go to the one. That's the one at the end
of the game. I'm sure we can go back through
a whole bunch and say what about this? What about that?
What about this grab? What about this play? How come
and they didn't get this done? Um, there's a lot
of miscalls during the course of the game, I guess,
is what I'm saying. And I think it's kind of
crazy too, because the Chiefs were only whistled for four
(49:53):
penalties all day long. Four. Now, granted, maybe I should
rephrase that they only had four accepted penalties against them
for twenty eight yards. I think that's pretty clean. The
Patriots as a team had six penalties called on them
on the day. But it's crazy to think that between
two teams in an overtime game that you only had
tin total penalties. And yet it seemed as if even
(50:16):
in that game the officials were as much of a
conversation as they were because of the replace, because of
the touch on the punt, because of the uh catch
by Hogan, because of the non catch by Hogan, and overtime,
it just really seems like we spend a lot of
time talking about the officials, and think about this, now,
the officials hosed the Saints right oh their host. The
(50:37):
Saints had three penalties called on them all day long. Three.
Okay long, but yet it just I mean, maybe I'm crazy.
Beyond just flags being thrown, it seemed as if in
both games the officials were very much involved, more than
maybe the flag total would lead you to. It was
good to know that the Patriots got three in a
row in the fourth corridor, all overturned in their favor.
(50:59):
That boy, what just uh stroke of luck dot for
that to happen. Uh. Well, now you're going back and
saying that you think they might have had a little
horse shoe up the backside with the NFL. Which one
is it? Artie? All right, let's get let's get let's
get one more calling here. Let's say that was out
in California. Bill is in Williamsburg, and Bill is next
up on Fox Sports Radio. Good evening, Billy, Good even guys,
(51:21):
enjoy your show a lot. You and already are funny together.
What I wanted to say was they had the referees
from the first game, we kind of stuck in the
mind of the person when they're watching a second game,
and there were so many calls that had to be reviewed,
and we're so close, and oh can they have to
be queeriness and they overturn it or not. Uh. It
got to be a lot of the game got to
(51:41):
be UH calls, and you got to see the people
getting the best interference on calls. Where are hugging the
guy going down the hindus going down for a past
you can see you can see people hitting guys before
the ball. Guess there almost all the time. They got
their hands somewhere on their back or they're pushing them
or whatever. They're there there. There's so many, as you
guys say, just reasonably, there's so many I think, or
(52:02):
you just said, so many calls that are not called
and and and and I guess they just can't call
it that claiming. So you've got to just buckle down
like the like I guess Brady's mentally tough, and and
just say, hey, no matter what happens, we're gonna see
it through to the end. We don't care what the
calls there are called or not called. We're not gonna complain.
We're just gonna go all the way through to the end.
(52:22):
Because if you don't think that way, like to coach
on the on the Saints, if you, if you, if you,
if you're a moralistic kind of person, you say, oh
my gosh, we've been cheated. You can't even continue the
game because you think you've been cheated so badly, then
your team's gonna probably lose because mentally they're all gonna
be thinking that they're getting cheated and they they see
the coach falling apart. So that's interesting because that's things
(52:43):
for your called Bill that speaks to your point, aren'ty
that you've been talking about that. You keep getting on
me for that. I'm under selling the dramatic and the
emotional effect of that, because when you think you have
the game one and you're told we got to go
back out there and play because we didn't get that call,
it can be an emotional drink. And he's right. It's
funny if you go back to a majority of that
early game, and if you were to read most of
(53:04):
the tweets, everyone was I'm so happy that the officials
are swallowing their whistle and letting guys play. I mean,
it's just it was hilarious to kind of see the
massive twist in perspective as that game progressed. I'm surprised
with so many of the guys out there, and by
the way, you think I'm making too much of this
and when we started the show, and you like, because
this is what you're gonna hang out on. You don't
(53:24):
think this is gonna be the number one story tomorrow.
You don't think talk shows, uh it, Fox starting from
the very morning with Clay Travis is gonna hit up
on the officiating and how miserable it was. Why do
you think, by the way, why do you think the
head of officiating decided to call Sean Payton a S
A P. You called them before the media even out
a chance. There's not even a ten minute cooling down period.
(53:47):
It's like, give me the phone. I gotta talk to
Sean Payton. What was that all about? I mean, you
couldn't wait a little bit of what I think he
called them. So I'm not trying to beat semantic skuys here.
Somebody give me my phone. I need to make a
call about that. But I think the birth that you're
thinking about when your team's in the locker room, come on,
I think that's exactly what happened. Which on, Well, the
(54:09):
audio and will play coming up a little bit later on.
But yeah, and you know, here's what's gonna happen during
this week and try we already have a tweet about it,
which was fantastic. It might actually qualify for the tweet
of the night, but this was This was from Brent
who right as a Browns fan. The Saints just need
to sit down. We've got more apology letters from the
refs this year. We don't need toilet paper for years.
(54:32):
They're going to get it though. It's it's it's coming
because and it's not gonna matter much. You know what's
gonna happen. The NFL will admit that the non call
the end of regulation was an air um. The league
probably won't. They didn't say anything about it. I think
during the a f C Championship game that I can remember,
but it'll be interesting to see. Okay, what do you
do to avoid this? I think what the Canadian Football
(54:55):
League has where pass interference gonna be a reviewable call.
I don't know if we need to get to that
because is I think the previous scholars point was was
dead on. I think what Bill said was dead on.
I mean, there's some grabbing and clung on every single play,
But I don't know, man, there there needs to be
at some point at least addressing Arnie. What's next it
should be like a lifeline, you know how, Like the
(55:17):
coach gets like three challenges. The fans in the stand
should get one challenge. And if everybody goes, oh, look
at that, all the fans get the vote. If it
was a bad car or not, they get to overturn it.
I would that work out of that would be great.
I wouldn't love it, and we'd be watching games that
would last twelve hours. All right. When we come back,
Todd Ferman is going to join us from Vegas, we'll
(55:37):
get an early look at some wild props with our
man Todd Firm and that Arnian Plank on Fox Sports Radio.
From a car landing on a roof to a car
landing in the pool, we've covered it. Talk to farmers.
We know a thing or two. Because we've seen a
thing or two. We are farmers under written my farmers
(55:57):
truck fire insurance exchanges and affiliates products unavailable every state.
It's already in Plank on Fox Sports Radio eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox. If you're on hold, hanging there,
we'll get you coming up here. In mirror moments. I'm salty,
I can tell, but you know who probably is salty. Too.
I can tell your salty too. I can hear in
your voice. I'm salty about the crying that's going on.
(56:18):
Make a play. Todd firm and joins us right now.
You can see him on FS one lock it in
and he was the smart one that didn't buy into
the Saints ticket, big TV star Todd, can you okay,
because I'm an idiot, can you take me through this process?
And it is it? Is it a common thing to
where maybe people don't have a ton of confidence in
this this big ticket that they have that could have
(56:39):
a big payoff, and they try to sell it online.
I mean what Clay and cousins saladd is this? Is
this a common thing? And I'm just out of the loop.
It's a practice more akin to what we've seen in
European books, where typically they'll offer you a buyout if
you have a great futures price. It was well publicized
when Leicester City went through there and prob Will runs
the English Premier League crowned at five thousand and one.
(57:02):
Better is looking to try and just get a little
bit of money out of a potential long shot ticket.
This situation that unfolded a little bit different when Clay
and cousin Soo went and they're trying to back the Saints.
They were able to get that ticket and roughly two
to one odds, which was slightly better than what the
market was offering at nine to five. They saw an opportunity,
they took a shot. And who knows how that plays out.
(57:22):
If it was for a past interference that I probably
should have been called in the waiting stages of regulation.
Oh I I know how it would have played out.
But that that's beside the boy. How come you didn't
go in on partners with that one because he's smart? Artie,
I Artie, I am a man of my numbers, and
I actually leaned towards the Rams. Plus the point didn't
think there was enough opportunity. Was still very much rooting
(57:43):
for those gentlemen to be able to cash their ticket. Uh.
But unlike some folks, I mean, I just can't go
in with emotion to get swept up in it. So
I did feel bad that things played out the way
they did. I really thought the Saints were gonna punch
their ticket to a land and have a chance to
represent the NFC. Now with that said, uh, here's here's
well let's just go general. Since I started throwing the
(58:04):
crow ball off the top, Todd, we've missed you. Thanks
for coming on with us. I know it's a busy
day for you. Let's start with the early game. You
brought it up. You're kind of leaning towards the Rams anyway.
What stood out from you on the field about kind
of the way things played out between the Rams and
the Saints. Well, for me, the biggest thing was the
Rams were able to weather the adversity early on. Less
team really could have crumbled under the turnover on a
(58:25):
short field. The defense held though. When the Saints had
a chance to take that three nothing lead out to tent,
you see the Rams jump off sides on fourth and
shortened down thirteen nothing. The Rams can very easily could
have folded their tents, but instead they found a way
to make big plays. They chipped back, They get the
momentum changing touchdown drive at the end of the first half,
and you go, all right, Jared goffin company may finally
(58:47):
be able to get over the hump. And then ultimately
it was way Phillips and some of what that defense
did and much more line stop you need all season long.
That started to come into its own and getting a
keep to lead back in the fold. We've seen them
good against the on. We know what their run stuffers
and pass rush can amount to when they're clicking on
all cylinders. Uh. And ultimately C J. Anderson, who knew
(59:07):
he would be the rams m v P given some
of Todd Gurley's injury struggles over the last couple of weeks. Todd,
I'm assuming the books did great tonight, Uh, because the
Patriots ended up covering and a lot of people like
to take the chiefs or am I wrong on that? Well,
it wasn't. It was slated to be one of the
best scenarios that they could have asked for, Ernie should
Kansas City have ended up winning that game keeping it
(59:29):
under the total. The books that I spoke to leading
up to kickoff of both these games said all their
liability was only on these money line underdogs winning games
outright because the spread action was pretty much split down
the middle. The recreational betters, of course looking to go
over the total was all these high powered offenses. So
going into the fourth quarter, books thought they'd be sitting
pretty worst case scenario that have to pay out some
(59:50):
Patriots money line action. Never in their wildest dreams or
I don't think anybody watching that game would you believe
that that total was going to eclipse fifty six and
a half giving scoring if we saw throughout the fourth quarter.
But it's the it's the age we live in right
now at the National Football League. No game is ever
under until it's over. Yeah, And that was what was
(01:00:11):
crazy to me, is to see the kind of show
that we ended up getting down the stretch in that game.
I mean, you're you're in a halftime and you've got
the under. You might be feeling pretty good about things.
But then in just the final seven minutes and forty
five seconds of regulation, what five touchdowns, almost two hundred
and fifty total yards. I mean, I know when I
say this, there's probably a game last week like it,
(01:00:33):
but I don't know if I've seen anything like that
in a playoff slash championship performance between two teams offensively, Chris,
you've watched Oklahoma football for how many years? This last week?
Maybe I should say in the NFL, yeah, we suck
glimpses of but no, you're exactly right. It was the
highest scoring fourth quarter we've seen in a Championship game setting,
(01:00:56):
and I think it just goes to show the firepower
that was on display with those two teams. And was
texting some of my friends in the industry back and
forth throughout the late game situation. What was there any
doubt in your mind that New England was gonna have
a chance to march down the field and tie that
game or takes the lead and then Kansas City coming
right back and answering with their big play potential. And
(01:01:17):
I think it's what the NFL wants now. They want
that score in a hurry, that no game is ever
an insurmountable lead, Whereas years ago a team gets down
fourteen points, you could have written this game off and
New England got away from with from what was so
effective for them in the first half, establishing the ground game,
keeping Patrick Mahomes in company on the sideline, and it
(01:01:37):
was really game on once Kansas City went right down
the field on that sixty yard bomb the Sammy Watkins
to kick things off in the second half. Alright, Todd,
let's get right to the Super Bowl. I guess the
Sharps couldn't wait to get enough money, uh and put
it on the New England Patriots for the Super Bowl.
The lines already changed dramatically. What's going on there, Well,
I'm not really sure many that's ultimately going to be
(01:01:57):
the side of the professional betters. You're right though, that
the number did start to move. Look Ahead point spreads
had the Rams a one point favorite. But as we
know this time a year, public perception and what the
recreational better has seen last and change things at a
moment's notice. So some books did actually open up the
Rams at one point favored. Immediately you saw support from
the Patriots, with the number getting out as far as
(01:02:17):
two and a half at some shops. Here we saw
a bet online dot a G in the offshore world
get to two as well. Before there was a little
bit of resistance. I think what's gonna be very interesting
is that betters were reluctant to back to Patriots both
last week against the Chargers and this week against Kansas City.
That narrative may get flipped on its head over the
next two weeks when people go Howard, Tom Brady and
Bill Belichick possibly gonna lose another Super Bowl with a
(01:02:40):
chance to cement their legacy. But this almost has a
fairy kale type storyline for the Rams who are fortunate
to be here, that maybe it's their time with a
young head coach and the next great quarterback, potentially in
Jared Goff seventeen years to the day after New England
took care of the Greatest Show on turflining that game
out right as a double digit dog, it's gonna be
I don't know, do you see one fan base being
(01:03:02):
able to make a little bit more noise than the other.
And I'm not saying that you're gonna have a home
field advantage in the Super Bowl by any stretch of
the imagination, But whenever you touch down in Atlanta, do
you expect to see one fan base maybe a little
bit more active than the others. I think by the
fall you may see more Patriot fans down in that
neck of the woods, although you have to wonder what
they have left for share of wallet given the fact
(01:03:23):
that they'll be playing the Super Bowl for the third
for the third straight years Rams fan base, I mean,
given some of the reactions and before turnout that they
had against Dallas two weeks ago, I don't think this
is a fan base that elicits those visceral reactions where
people are going to travel across the country, it'll probably
feel more like a corporate atmosphere than we've grown accustomed to.
Nothing nearly as raucous as the environment that Eagles fans
(01:03:45):
tried to create as they sought their Super Bowl crown
that had eluded them for so many years. You know, Todd,
before we let you go, I'm still thinking about buying
that New Orleans Saints tickets from clay Um. You guys laugh,
But I mean, I'm sure you've heard about Rural seventeen,
section to article three, where the commissioner has the power
(01:04:06):
to overturn a call because of something extraordinarily unfair over
a miscall. I'm hoping that happens this week and that
I can catch that taking. What do you think, Arnie,
I'm sure you'll be able to buy that ticket off
those gentlemen for pennies on the dollar. But being a
but being a big CFL fan you are, it begs
the question will the Competition Committee begin to review what
(01:04:29):
the league up north does where you can challenge just
about any penalty call, including past interference, and I think
it would have had a very different dynamic to the
outcome of that game. Unfortunate the way it worked out,
because I really believe the Rams are going to be
a fixture in the NFC for years to come. But
Father Time may not smile upon the Saints for much
much longer. We gotta get because we have an update.
But before we do. As you start thinking about exotics, Todd,
(01:04:52):
I know that you it's kind of one of the
wildest times of the year for you. Are there any
other games or anything that you're keeping an eye on
here early on as you start to kind of dot
your eyes and cross your teas on some exotic bets
for next for two weeks from today, for me, I
think you're going to see the game start off relatively slow.
Everyone's gonna want to talk about the high flying offenses
and the big play potential, but New England has historically
(01:05:13):
been a slow starter in the Super Bowl, I can
see making a strong case to go under the total.
And if there are any nerves for the Rams, the
best way to get those out is to establish the
ground game, simplify things for Jared Goff and make New
England drive the link this field. What other profits that
you're gonna want to keep tabs? And I know Arnie
won't play it because he hates the lay prices. Will
there be a fourth down attempt at any point during
the game. I think you're gonna see books open that
(01:05:35):
right around one to five, substantially higher than what we've
grown accustomed to. In the word, man great stuff is
always watch him lock it on on FS one and
of course at Todd Firm and on Twitter. Thanks Todd.
Always a pleasure. Jens sure come to live in the
Geico Fox Sports Radio studio. When shopping for car insurance,
consider this guy Coo has been saving people money on
car insurance for over seventy five years. So if you're
(01:05:57):
serious about savings, it's simple go to guy cooed Colm
after seventy five years, they know how to save money.
Steve the Seger, what's going on? Steve? You know what's
gonna be really long odds by the time we get
the game time. Is something bad happening in the kicking game?
To one of these two teams because they have been
quietly very success although the rams not so quiet After today,
(01:06:18):
Greg's Airline kicks a fifty seven yard field goal in
overtime to win the NFC Championship twenty three at New Orleans,
New England took the a f C title game in
overtime thirty seven thirty one at Kansas City. So there's
your matchup for Super Bowl fifty three and a couple
of weeks in Atlanta. But neither of these two teams,
Patriots or Rams, has had a field goal attempt blocked
this whole season, including playoffs. That's eighty four combined field
(01:06:41):
goal attempts and making it from inside the forty almost automatic.
New England twenty three for twenty three, Rams thirty thirty
one on field goals inside the forty. So if they're
lining up and it's inside the forty, we've seen the
distance that these guys can get. And granted the Rams
were kicking indoors, but they've each been quite successful in
that department. New England did win the coin toss to
(01:07:03):
start overtime at k C, drove for the winning TV
thirteen play seventy five yards the key, three third and
ten conversions against the Kansas City defense that ranked thirty
one in the league, next to last in yards allowed.
Tom Brady now with twelve game winning drives in his
postseason history. Obviously, that's the best in the Super Bowl era.
(01:07:24):
Roughly the last fifty years, but Brady with twelve game
winning drives in a playoff game. John Elway is second
with six half that number. And of course you had
a fourth quarter comeback in this one with the Seesaw
fourth quarter. And there was a great stat just starting
the fourth quarter of this a f C title game tonight,
NFL research sent out that in the history of the
(01:07:46):
conference title game, whether it's NFC or a f C,
if a team's up by ten starting the fourth quarter
of the conference championship, they're undefeated. And the Patriots were
up ten starting the fourth quarter. It went back and
forth in the fourth and then the Patriots won the
coin toss and drove down in one. So it's fifty
and oh and the Super Bowl era. If you have
a ten point lead in the conference title games starting
(01:08:07):
the fourth quarter, the Rams win. By the way, they're
winning drives set up by an interception caused by a
hit on Drew Brees by Dante Fowler. Yet another defensive
acquisition where this team was all in short contracts and
they make it to the Super Bowl, and you know
the Rams new stadium. He talked about the Rams maybe
being in on contention for years to come. The Rams
(01:08:28):
new stadium, which opens in will be hosting the Super
Bowl three years from now. The l A area had
hosted seven of the first twenty seven Super Bowls that
included the only other l A Rams appearance. It was
at the Rose Bowl January of nine eighty. They actually
led the great Pittsburgh Steelers team going to the fourth
quarter and then lost, and that was Pittsburgh's fourth Super
(01:08:48):
Bowl win in six years. As I recall, NBA wins
tonight for the Clippers, Minnesota and Indiana will be back
to the show in ten seconds. But first still word
from farmers. From a dog accidentally flooding a living room
to a dog taking a joy ride, we've covered it.
Talk to farmers. We know a thing or two. Because
we've seen a thing or two. We are farmers under
(01:09:09):
written my Farmers truck fire insurance exchanges and affiliates products
unavailable in every state. Serena Williams plays her fourth round
match late tonight our time at the Australian Open against
number one Samona Ellips. Williams has seated sixteen Thorny span
your Chris playing back to you, thanks a lot, Steve
to Seger, of course, We are live on the I
Heart Radio app series x M Channel three, and of
course at Fox sports radio dot com slash listen. If
(01:09:33):
you missed any of the show tonight, I highly suggest
you check out Fox sports radio dot com tomorrow morning
on our podcast page or immediately after this show and
download the podcast. Breaking news, Breaking news, my friend, Oh
that nobody else has had so far. I got it
right here in front of me. Go for it. What
is How long do you think it's gonna take? Gladys Night?
The signing national anthem? Over under one minute and forty
(01:09:56):
five seconds. Oh, I'm going over on bad boy now.
It's very early in the week, very early in the week,
but I'm thinking over right now, I'd be wearing a skirt,
dress or gown. Yes, is minus one? Will she omit
or forget a word from the anthem? Of course she's
(01:10:17):
going to that's plus three d that's three to one. Okay,
I'll take some of that. Will any player take a
knee during the anthem? Four to one? Odds? Plus four
to one? Is that good or bad? Help me out there?
That's that's that's some good odds are because you know
we'll Donald Trump send over six tweets on Super Bowl Sunday.
(01:10:37):
That's even money, is there? You can bet on the
gatorade color. You could bet on if the President will
attend the game. Will a fan run on into the
field during the game? Nine nine? The one odds is
he yes out there like this one. Will a non
quarterback throw a touchdown? Yes? It is three and a
half to one. That's not that's not good odds for that, though.
(01:10:59):
You gotta get that that probably is based on the
trickeration that we've seen from Sean McVeigh. How about the
Patriots rounding the flee flicker at one point that came, Yeah, well,
Tom Brady made a smart player. It could have been
picked anything else that caught your eye before Mercedes Bend
(01:11:19):
Stadium be open for kickoff. That's an actual problem. Yeah.
Minus one eight is yes, will there be a flee
flicker attempted in the game? Will there be a penalty
for roughing the passer? Of course there is, Tom Brady,
of course there's gonna be. I'm gonna get rich. Can
I borrow some money so I could bet that there's
(01:11:40):
gonna be roughing the passer? That's a done deal already.
I mean, come on now, Hey, we come to alive
in the Geico Faxi video studio. What does it mean
aren't you when Geik says just fifteen minutes could save
you or more on car insurance? I mean you probably
should have gone to Geico dot comte minutes ago. By
the way, which commercial will appere first? The Turkish Airlines.
Big favorites on that Turkish Airlines who I had never
(01:12:04):
heard of before. Last Weather Tech and they give you
a commercial verse commercial expensive I versus Turbo tax Avocados
from Mexico versus Planters is even money. Dorrito's against Pringles
is even money. Uh, you know, Autie against Kia. Audi
is a slight favorite. There Han a big favorite over
(01:12:26):
Mercedes Benz. I love prop beds. Give me give me
some money. I love this stuff. By the way, I
like this from U C. L A Dodger Frank who
tweets hats. When I was asking about the fans, because
that's one thing that stood out from last year was
that the Eagle fans and the impact that they made,
Frank writes, the Rams fans aren't going to Atlanta, guys.
They're all headed to Vegas for the Super Bowl, which
(01:12:47):
might be the best place to watch the Super Bowl.
Let's let's go to l A. George is next up
at eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven
seven six nine. What's going on, George. We're doing well man,
thanks for calling. Yeah, listen, um, I think the Rams.
You probably think I'm crazy, but I think the Rams
(01:13:08):
team had there was a tremendous vindication for Jared Goff. Today.
They're down thirteen nothing in the first quarter fifteen yards.
Saint said all the opportunity world to put their you know,
put the Rams out, and they couldn't do it. Rams
stayed with their game plan. Jared Goff at the end
of that over time, the drives twice and he's almost sick.
He kept throwing the ball. I mean, he's beendication for
(01:13:29):
this young quarterback. Everybodysdication from what been the medication from
what well, go back to the first couple of years.
You'll go ahead. I'm sorry, yeah, sorry, Ernie, you mean
a rep view. But anyway, Jared Goff has been picked
on constantly. So he's the worst back in the last
four of this left Shore. I don't think so at all.
He's still a young man. I mean, his first year
(01:13:50):
with Fisher, he had no opportunity. This is really like
a second year officially, like they you know, he's still learning.
And I think the Rams are going to beat the
New England a reason. I think you're gonna see there's
your change of the tide right there. That's my prediction. Well,
I look, I appreciate the car. I hope you're right.
Vindication from what though we were. There was no pressure
on Jared Goff. I mean, yeah, Fisher. Once you switch
(01:14:13):
over from Fisher, it all started fresh. He had a
great year this year. Goff. What was all the pressure about.
I don't get this, you know. I think if you
go back to his rookie season, Arnie and you listen
to some of our shows back then, it was this
guy is awful. Why was he ever taken? He stinks
blah blah blah. And then last year when they lost
in the in the playoffs to the Eagles, it was,
oh my got he can't get it done in the playoffs.
(01:14:33):
This team is sold. So I think that might be
if I can kind of read between the lines there
where George might have been going with that, That's that's
what I can come up. But he doesn't need it now,
does not need it at all? All right, if you're
on hold, hanging there, we'll get right to you. Eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox. When we come back to
Saga will slide and we have some crazy numbers, some
crazy stats from today with Aunty playing that we'll get
(01:14:55):
into next from the guy called Fox Sports Radio Studios.
Here on Fox Arenian Plant coming to you Alive and
the guy go Fox Sports Radio Studio. Rams fans celebrating
like crazy in the studio Ramos Tom Brady sound after
the game. Huh can we play? We like our jobs.
We can't. Yeah, we can't. You can't, he said a
(01:15:17):
word you can't play on the radio. Are you? Are
you gonna be? Okay? Are you offended by it? I mean,
I I really if you're not offended by it? You're
not offended? The play it, big boy? I can't. If
you just want to go ahead and okay, I'll do
it because I'm really not Are you? Are you? Are
you that? Steve the Sager Joints? Is are you really that?
(01:15:37):
I can't say what I want to say, but I
have to break it up in success? Well, okay, great,
he said it. He's pretty happy. Are you gonna be okay?
Have you ever heard that word before? I can talk
you through it if if you're really not hurt by it,
I haven't heard it. I'm shocked. I mean, I'm going
through terrible times now, all right, Di Sager? What else
have we missed out from the championship games onto? Well?
(01:16:00):
First off, it was the first time ever in the
Super Bowl era. And again when you hear that phrase,
that means roughly the last fifty years, this is gonna
be Super Bowl fifty three coming up in a couple
of weeks in Atlanta. But in the Super Bowl era,
we've had an overtime game in a conference championship eight times.
The road team has won six of the eight, including
both of them today. New England and the Rams, each
(01:16:21):
one on the road in overtime to advance to Super Bowl.
Remember the Falcons amazingly twenty years ago with the win
at Minnesota after the Vikings great year. They mentioned in
a graphic tonight about John Elways Broncos with the overtime
conference title win at Cleveland, the Giants had done it
a couple of times. So the road teams king in
that department, and I must mention the great starts that
(01:16:43):
New England has been getting this postseason, these first halfs.
It was just unbelievably dominant this first half at Kansas
City tonight and last week when they were up thirty
eight seven by third quarter against the Chargers. Last week,
remember the graphic it said Chargers have twenty three plays,
Patriots have twenty four first downs. I mean, at one
(01:17:05):
point tonight, Chiefs had sixteen plays, Patriots had sixteen first downs.
It should have been twenty ones hit by halftime the
Chiefs of the New Chicago Cups, I've I've decided dead
early for that. No, it isn't. The homes is just
starting the career here. By the way, Tom Brady with
that interception thrown first half into the end zone or
(01:17:25):
else it probably would have been hip at halftime. But
also the same for the Patriots the last couple of weeks.
Brady was not sacked last week against the Chargers through
for over three forty yards, not sacked tonight at Kansas
City through for over three forty yards. Well, you got
a ball off quickly against the pass rushing team last week.
And how about Rob Gronkowski showing up last week against
(01:17:49):
the Chargers he was only targeted one time, had one catch. Wow.
Six catches tonight seventy nine yards. Julian Edelman seven catches
for ninety six yards. Someone want to cover that guy
or what? Well in the overtime three third and ten conversions.
I mean, you can't complain about calls all you want,
but as a caller has said, we have seen this
(01:18:09):
all season long from the Kansas City defense and it's
only fitting that their season comes down to just having
to stop maybe force a field goal attempt, something, stop
an eighty yard or seventy five yard drive at the end,
pass bogus or something at the book ends of this
game in k C. Because it was the seventy five
yard winning drive at the end. Remember how they started
(01:18:31):
fifteen plays eighty yards for a touchdown on the first drive.
That was the longest opening drive of any Belichick playoff
game with New England and an eight minute drive to
begin a playoff game that had never happened with New England.
And they've had a few playoff games. Remember this was
the just in conference title games. This was the eighth
straight year they were in the a f C Championship
(01:18:52):
and so now and thirteen time out of eighteen, and
so now they're in the Super Bowl. For in the
eighteen years of this coaching quarterback, nine times in eighteen
years there in the Super Bowl. The Patriots record five
and three in the Big Game from two thousand two
through last year, and my Dophins can't even make it
to the playoffs. I'm'll get five every year. Uh yeah,
(01:19:13):
we could get another conversation about the opponents in that division,
but we'll move on. We already knew it was guaranteed
that our Super Bowl matchup this season for a sixth
straight season, would have two teams that got first round buys.
That would have been my pick if I didn't have
my if I didn't pick Green Bay and Pittsburgh, it
would have been the Rams and the Patriots. That was
your second choice. That was my second choice, you know, Chris,
(01:19:36):
even listen, it's if. What was surprising that was we
had the top four scoring teams in the league as
our final four this season. That's the first in the
Super Bowl era. The difference is other teams could actually
play some defense. In Kansas City, as I mentioned, was
literally next to last in yards allowed over They played
defense against the Chargers last week did they not. Kansas
(01:19:59):
City played the Chargers last week. Yes, in the snow.
By the way, no snow. Unlike last weekend in Kansas City,
tamp was about twenty degrees to start. Of course, it
will probably be indoors in Atlanta next week. New Orleans
had the indoor game where Drew Brees was six and
oh and his playoff career at home and the Rams
(01:20:20):
came back to beat him. Brandon Cooks X of New
Orleans had seven catches a hundred seven yards so Breeze
with the late interception set up the game winning drive,
Greg's urline, Greg the leg with a forty eight yard
field goal for the Rams to tie it late in regulation,
and the fifty seven yard field goal to win it.
You know New Orleans and its first three drives. It
(01:20:40):
was exact opposite of what we saw in New Orleans
one week ago, where Philly was great early and then
could do nothing. New Orleans was great early and then
not so good. First three drives for the Saints hundred
thirty yards of offense, thirteen nothing lead, the last nine
drives only a hundred sixty yards total, and that included
that long TD drive to start the second half. Complete opposite. Yeah,
(01:21:02):
they thought it was real loud there. I didn't hear
it real loud after the RAMS one you can hear
it then after that interception. Alright, great stuff to Sega.
When we come back to the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios,
some incredible numbers we still have to share from the day,
lines jammed up at eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox,
and some really good tweets to get to as well.
(01:21:24):
So hit us up at Stinking Genius one. I'm at
Plank Show. Pick up the phone called eight seven seven
ninety nine on Fox. It's already in Plank on a
championship Sunday. Right here, let's go final hour from the
Getico Fox Sports Radio Studios. Fifteen minutes could save you
fifteen percent or more on car insurance. Visit Geico dot
(01:21:45):
com for a free rate quote today. Uh, lines are
jammed out, We'll get to the phones coming up here,
Santa Clara, like they put the College of Football off.
Why don't they strangle us there for crying out loud? Uh?
Is Santa Is? It? Didn't it get a Super Bowl?
Or am I losing my mind? Has the Super Bowl
been in San Francisco yet? Or in my I'm not sure,
(01:22:07):
but it would have been better for this year for
Ram fans out there, that's for damn sure. What's the
Broncos Carolina? Thank you very much? Right, Actually were there
a couple of years ago. And I might add Arnie
that we have future future super Bowl sites coming up.
Obviously you've got l A in a couple of years,
whenever they get things finally you think, so, I was
(01:22:29):
kind of think in New Orleans every single year, maybe
Tampa every single year. Uh here's a good piece of trivia.
If we have in New Orleans every year, at least
there won't be any home field advantage, then that'd be
good thing. Which two cities are currently tied for hosting
the Super Bowl the most, Miami ding ding ding and
(01:22:51):
and New Orleans. There you go. And by the way,
Miami is hosting again in which I was just there
earlier this month. Stadiums awesome, it's really cool. And the
New Orleans is hosting again in l A will get
it in twenty twenty two, so uh yeah, we got
We've got some pretty cool places getting the super Bowl
(01:23:13):
over the next few years. And of course Atlanta coming
up in two weeks from tonight where it will be
the New England Patriots in the Los Angeles Rams before
we get back to the phones, before I thought some
numbers out there, Arnie, we have buried the lead on
the show tonight. We have not talked about the biggest
story of the day. It wasn't the non past interference call.
It wasn't the roughing the pass or call. It wasn't
(01:23:36):
the incredible UH special Teams display that the Rams put
on thanks to Legatron booming field goals that would have
been good from seventy. Nor was it Tom Brady. Arnie.
Tony Romo once again found another level as an analyst,
and I mean he wasn't just good. And I don't
know if some people haven't paid attention, but y'all know
(01:23:57):
he's been doing this for the better part of the
two years that he's been calling games. And I don't
know if it's just maybe CBS using him. UH. In
the championship game, whatever it was, he couldn't Recogriz too bad,
he couldn't recognize the defense is when he played that
about as love and blow as you could come up
with that, Joe, come on, I will say I listened
(01:24:21):
a lot too I've I've covered both games from every angle.
Today I listened to both radio broadcast from Westwood One
and some of the local channels for a while. Are
the local broadcast, I watched the TV side of things.
Romo was fantastic today, And you're kind of at first,
I think people felt like jim nance was getting a
little tired of him when they first started. But I
(01:24:42):
can sense they're really digging doing games together and he
is everything that a lot of former players aren't when
they get into the booth. And is he goofy? Does
he yelled too much? Sure? But I love it? Man.
You ever seen that? I don't know if it's a
TV show or movie. And then you have like three
robots making commentary during the movie. We should have a
(01:25:02):
chat where people are watching the game and then someone
like you and I just comment. We don't do the
play by play, but we just, you know, go off
crazy something like that. You know, Ramos hit it on
the head just like the old Mystery Science Theater. Do
you remember that? That's That's what I was talking about. Yere,
you go, that's what we need, Mystery Science Theater. And
all right, where are we on during the Super Bowl?
(01:25:24):
Again this year or one. I'm waiting for the text.
I'm waiting for the call. I know this, I know
this much. I want you to be in a better mood.
If we're on during the Super Bowl and the Patriots
are playing, you always seem to be mad. You always
seem to be a little bit salty. I'll ship you
up some bourbon or some beard to get you a
better mood. Arnie, I can't have you being old. I mean,
(01:25:45):
I get it that you're gonna have to deal with
this BS for the next two weeks from Patriot fan
because you're in the area host locally as a Patriot fan,
and he discussed me. I get it, I understand it.
But this is uh, this is what we wait for
all year long. And I know some are gonna be
tired of the Patriots, but I can't really argue with
how they were able to come through the ranks this year,
(01:26:07):
and speaking is so great that they almost didn't go
to the games. I almost had to move the team
to Hartford or something like that. Oh my god, you're
going back to like the eighties now. Then I gotta
go ahead and make my feels myself feel better. Somehow,
we even had a name for him. I think they
were gonna be the St. Louis Stallions if I remember
my childhood correctly. Tom Brady is now seventy two and
one as a starting quarterback when he has a halftime
(01:26:30):
lead of fourteen or more points. That includes let's make
it seventy two and two. I was so close. Fifty
one straight wins entering today and now fifty two straight wins.
The only time he lost the two thousand and six
a f C Championship game in Indianapolis against the Colts,
(01:26:50):
and uh, there was one other stat from that game. Today,
Sony Michelle has five rushing touchdowns in the postseason. This
blew me away. I know we usually think of somebody,
but that's the most by any rookie in a single
post season in NFL history. The last player with five
(01:27:12):
rushing touchdowns in a single postseason was Terrell Davis in
It's the most by rookie in a single season. That's
pretty incredible. Kudos to Sony Michelle. All right, anything else
you want to add before we get back to the phones, AREN'TI? Um?
Just again? You know I'm The officiating has just been
putrid for both games, not just for the UH miscall
(01:27:34):
in the Saints Rams game. And I feel for the
actually Saints fans because the way they had to go
ahead and swallow this one. This is this as Sean
Payton said, this one's going to last forever. They'll never
forget it. They'll never get over something like that. You
know what I mean. It's like your wife breaking up
with you and she marries somebody really rich while you're
(01:27:54):
poor for the rest of your life and something like that. Well,
here's the only positive I think I can give Saints
fans after after the tuck rule game, the Raiders did
go to the Super Bowl the next year, so that
was when their gut was truly ripped out. And I
put I think it was it was either Ernie or
or Charlie or somebody on on Twitter had hit me
(01:28:15):
up with an incredible point as that game wrapped up
between the Saints and the UH The Saints of the
Rams earlier today, I mean, oh, it was Eddie. Eddie said,
Has there been a worse run of back to back
in the ends of seasons than the rates the Saints
have had the last two years? Think about it. They
lose on the crazy play by Stefon Diggs that advanced
(01:28:38):
the the Vikings to the NFC Championship Game last year,
and of course they have the just gut wrenching at
home NFC Championship game loss to the Rams. Today, one
of my buddies, the voice of the Golden Hurricane, UH
Bruce Howard, said, how about the Browns who in nineteen
eighties six had the overtime loss to Denver in the
drive and then the nineteen eighties seven when Ernest Biner
(01:29:01):
was running into the end zone fumbled at the two
back to back a FC title games. So that's about
as gut wrenching as it comes. But that's gonna be
if if a coach is up there saying we'll have
a hard time recovering from this, and how narratives have changed.
Arnie hard time recovered. They'll never recovered from that. Never
forget that, They'll never forget what happened to them. All right.
(01:29:24):
I believe he's fighting through some weather to check in.
So at eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox, let's
head up to South Dakota. Well, Corey will kick things
off this hour. What's going on, Corey? Not much? Is
there anybody there? When they got the Chiefs got down
into you know, inside the five or whatever it was
there that was thinking. The Patriots were thinking, what he
(01:29:45):
want us to do with an other thirty seconds? They're
going to score. We all knew this, and I could
have done something that, maybe run some clock out there. Yeah,
they had three time outs, but you come back down
and in tight seconds you run the field yet second
down with eleven seconds to go. And then one of
the best quotes ever. You play to win the game
you're playing the Patriots is this guy has any Reid
(01:30:07):
not watched the NFL for the last twenty years? The Patriots.
You don't play to play them in overtime, you will lose.
You play to win the game. You don't You got
at least one is not two throws to the end
zone or you mean at the end of the game
before they went ahead. Wait, and we appreciate the call, Chris.
They threw what in the end zone? There was eighteen
seconds left. They threw our twelve seconds left, they threw
(01:30:28):
what in the end zone? Uh, at least I brought
it down to eleven. They're like, we can't chance it again.
They had no time out, So what did you want
them to do. I don't see what the problem is though,
Yeah I was, I was thinking this. I completely want
to agree with you, absolutely, but you gotta you gotta
get the ball in the endzone. Now. If if we
want to go back our excuse, you gotta get the
(01:30:48):
ball to the uprights and gets overtime. If you want
to go back to first in goal from the two
yard line and maybe try to milk a little clock
there before you took the what would that be at
that point lead, then we may be able to have
that conversation. But the Patriots do have three timeouts as well.
At that point, you know they're they're still have their
(01:31:10):
full compliments of time out. So if you're gonna take
your time and you're gonna try to and the two
minute warning, I think they kickoff wash. You're right. There
was two or three left whenever Damian Williams scored their touchdown.
So I know this is all hindsight, and this is
really easy to look back and say, oh, I don't
leave any time, But not only did it? Was there
enough time for Brady to go down and score and
(01:31:30):
give New England the lead, But ARENI there was still
enough time for Kansas City, who started on their own
thirty one to drive it to the twenty one yard
line and get a field goal to tie the game
and force over. It's easy for you guys to get
on the Chiefs defense. But they got not one but
two stops. They got the interception, but they got called
for the off sides. They got the Brady and it
would have been third and ten, but they called for
(01:31:51):
rough in the past or both times. Um, well, one
would have been the gate, would have been game over.
The other one was a game changer. And let's give
them a little bit of credit defensively. What what what
did the Chiefs do on third down that would believe
lead you to believe that they would have stopped the
Patriots on nine? It was on second down. You keep it.
(01:32:13):
I want to keep moving those downs along, Chris. I
understand the Patriots were thirteen of nineteen on third down,
thirteen of nineteen, and they had three huge conversions in overtime.
All right, let me get one morning. Let's go to Shreveport.
Finch is next up. He's been very patient tonight. What's
going on? Finch? Hey, what's up? I gotta talk to
(01:32:34):
lay over here? W I R P U, Man, it's
so true. What does that mean? Who is Roger Foeller for? Man?
Like we've gone? Yeah, you know, he's pulling for the Patriots.
You know, even though he gave Radio four games to speenchion.
You know, he's happy about that. I think I think
(01:32:57):
he gets I think he gets along with Grass and
he's like, what can I do to make it look
like I ain't pulling for the Patriots every single year. Man,
he's been pulling him for. It was in two thousand
and eight, two thousands, three, two dozen, to come on,
he's been pulling for for the past twenty years. He
wants the Patriots to be in there. What was shocking
to me was out was out. They just screwed over
(01:33:21):
the Saints so that they could get their wonder boy
Sean mcveighan there. That was just insane to me. I
wish man, and you know I read this on Jason
McIntyre's website. Yeah, the Commissioner does have the authority to
overturn a final game because of an egregious error and
(01:33:44):
either picking up from that point of the egregious error
or just overturned the score. He could do that himself.
I would love to see that happen, just to see
the outrage that would take play. Great would that be?
You know it's happened. I want to say two to
three different I think three different times in the NBA
where they've made massive mistakes and they've had to replay
(01:34:04):
the game from the point of where the mistakes were. Well,
um Jacques, they felt check out of of a game
when he didn't really file they had to pick it
back up with like three or four minutes left in
overtime or something like that. Well, I almost regular season
NBA games. We're talking about the a f C and
NFC championship games. Arnie. I hate to go very probably
(01:34:26):
against the grain here, but I actually kind of am
happy that New Orleans lost because that dude whistle in
the whole game. Long. Uh, that's there, you go. That's
the reason why it's you're not going anywhere, the fact
that and then here's the best part, was like, oh,
that's whistling Ronnie. He's in every single game or whatever
(01:34:46):
this dope's name is and has a whistle on his head.
And then they show a guy that's dressed like Sean
Payton that has a whistle in his mouth that he's
blowing while the game is going on. Now, I guess
I don't know. I'm not here to try to be
overly outrage dude, but I guess they couldn't hear it
on the field. But the Fox microphones suress Hack. We're
(01:35:07):
picking that bad boy up all game long. It was
driving me crazy. And then I took the Twitter and
I saw that Colin put it out and a lot
of our other constituents put it out, and I'm like, yeah,
it's bothering me more than ever. It's kind of like
that soccer uh thing that they blow that makes you crazy,
you know what I'm talking about? That noise. It was
(01:35:28):
just it was getting out of hand, and I'm like, yeah, whatever, Yeah,
somebody that I go, They've got to go ahead and
go up into the stands and get these guys out
that are doing this. It's it's gonna get somebody hurt. Zela. Yeah,
that's it, Yes, all right, let's get a break in
here and then we'll get back to the phones. Eight
seven seven nine Fox, by the way, uh kudos or
my man Fitch. Whenever he started putting those letters together,
(01:35:50):
I was really worried what they were trying to represent.
But who is Roger pulling for? I completely disagree with you, guys.
I don't think he's pull up the Patriots. I think
the Chiefs would have been a much better story for
ratings and for eyeballs than saying the Patriots going back
once again. But we can debate it. Next from the guy,
go Fox Sports Radio Studios. It's Arnie and Plank on
a championship Sunday for a car landing on a roof
(01:36:13):

of Nickel Robie Coleman, and I mean that would drive
me crazy if I was a Saints fan. Robert Klemtco
(01:36:54):
asked him if he committed pias. Yep, got there earlier.
I was beat and I was not gonna I love.
You want them to lie about it or what? Uh? Well, yeah,
I mean come on and say, oh no, I was
trying to make a play. Uh, he continued. He said
the rest told him that the ball was tipped, so
he was free to blast the receiver. It would have
been p I if the ball was not tipped. So
(01:37:17):
I've got some repruder film because sorry, that's my bad,
because I still have not seen that ball being tipped.
It was handed. I'm gonna try to watch one more time,
but I don't think that ball was tipped at all. Yeah,
unless you had minute bowl. May he rest in peace
(01:37:40):
on the line of scrimmage. That ball was not tipped
by anybody. And I love to looking back to pause
after the after the hit on the receiver. All right,
no flag, let's celebrate high fives all over the place.
Oh my god. You know, I wanted the officials to
allow them to play, but you can't just let agregious
(01:38:02):
terras like that. You know happened? And then who was
a Jeene Sterritory that said, yeah, that's a good note call,
though you know he probably got there a little bit early.
I'm like, oh, you guys make up the rules now,
whether you know, you know what enforce that, you just
make it up, whether it's a good call or not.
I see how it works. I think that because Mike
Pereira was on the Fox game, so he would be
involved in that call. Sterritory was on the Afternoon game.
(01:38:24):
I'll tell you what you know. But but I thought
they so for many years you just had Mike Pereira,
and Mike's the goat. He's the absolute best when it
comes to breaking things down. I thought Jane Sterritory was
pretty good today as well too. I thought they gave
us some good perspective. I thought that, Uh, I felt
like I learned a lot watching all the I mean,
I'm not I'm not one of these guys that pretends
(01:38:45):
like he knows it all. I know some of you
out there on Twitter absolutely do. But I learned a
lot today from him as far as the way games
are called and listen, we saw some really really big
mistakes by the officials today, but it might have come
from not being as sensitive as they typically we're during
the season. So I don't know. I mean, do do
(01:39:06):
we want him over calling p I? Do we want
him under calling it? Do we want pass interferes to
be an instant replay issue? Now? I don't know. Annie.
I don't think I wanted getting to instant replay for
past interference, but I do think that's something they're gonna
have to talk about. You know, I once at Ed
Hockey on one of my local shows. You know, he's
from the Phoenix area. I go ed, what's what's a
(01:39:27):
makeup call? I don't know what that means? What's a
makeup call? And he just starts laughing. He goes, He goes,
you really think that if I miss a call the
first time, that the next thing I want to do
is miss another call. You think that's what really we
want to do. So that's how he explained it to me.
All right, let's get a couple of calls in here.
Tweets are great, they're coming up after the bottom of
(01:39:47):
the hour. Corey in Minnesota has been patient. He's next
up on Fox Sports Radio. What's going on? Corey? What much? Man?
Just listen to you guys and join the night, Well,
what's left for the night? Hey, but those are some
very entertaining games night. Um, I think they. I think
they even said that as history historic for the NFL
for to be two overtime games in the same night,
(01:40:09):
never happened before. But you know, I have a solution
to this whole overtime thing, especially helping do the wave
of the ties. So everyone says defense wins championships and everything, right,
So my idea is this, how about we go ahead,
your your faith is gonna be let's up to the coin,
(01:40:30):
and we're gonna have a one possession overtime. Often scores
you win the game. Do you kick it, feel goal,
you win the game. However, if defense stops you, but
there'd be an inception, um, fumble recovery, um uh, turnover
on downs anything like that. Defense gets that one point
(01:40:52):
for the team, and that team wins that game for you.
That's mine. I think we're overthinking, and I appreciate the
calver star and overthinking now, Chris, It's worked so well
in college football. I don't know why we can't adopt
the rule there. I don't understand why this is gonna
be so hard to do. I think we're starting overthinking now, yeah,
I mean, this isn't really that hard there. Either you
(01:41:13):
keep it as at the status quo, which, by the way,
nobody was complaining about how overtime is set up after
the Ram Saints game. It was just after the Patriots won.
So either you keep it like that. I kind of
liked your idea. Aren't even though they minimize the time
and overtime during the regular season, maybe they re evaluate that.
Or you either adopt college rules and say, all right,
(01:41:36):
we'll start from what was your idea of midfield or
maybe the forty and both ways so everyone gets a possession,
or we just make it it's a fifteen minute overtime
or ten minute overtime and we're gonna play to the
clock runs out. Period. There's no first score wins, there's
no first touchdown wins. Unless you possess the ball for
nine and a half minutes in one of the overtimes
(01:41:58):
when we played ten minutes or thirteen and a half
of we play fifteen, then both teams are going to
get an opportunity to score. By the way, there was
a clock malfunction that nobody in the world picked up
other than me. Uh in the Rams Saints games when
the Rams picked kicked their first field goal and make
it three nothing. Um, excuse me. The Saints kicked their
first field goal to uh take a three nothing lead.
(01:42:19):
The the game clock stopped at nine seconds left, and
then by the time they kicked it, um, time would
have run out. That it took him at you like,
twelve thirteen seconds of kicking and nobody picked up on that.
I'm like, and I stopped it, looked back at it
on my TV, and that's exactly what happened. I can't
believe I've knowing what in the world that noticed that there, Chris.
But you gotta remember sometimes the TV clock can be
(01:42:41):
off in the actual game clock. That's the only thing
that I would say could have been an issue there.
But look, you have always found out random little time
mistakes in games. And I remember you were all hot
about it like five years ago because the Cowboys, Yeah
about a Cowboys game and waited a second quarter. But
go look it up. Go see if the if the
(01:43:02):
game if the game clock or you know, the uh
the you know, the the game clock doesn't stop, not
the game clock, the yeah, that clock for if it's
stopped at nine seconds before they kicked the field goal,
and go look it up, go see, go see for yourself. Up,
let's let's get one more calling before the Sager jumps
in here PAULI is in Boston. I imagine he's on
(01:43:25):
cloud nine. What's going on, Polly? Hey? Are you guys
doing tonight? Hey? First point I want to make. I
was listening to the game on the radio, and what
that guy your co host just said about the clock thing?
I saw that while I was listening to game. Yeah,
there you go, there you go. Um. Actually, I just
want to let the rest of the counts you know, Um,
(01:43:48):
there are two kinds of people in the world from
Boston and knows that wish they were I was starting
to like this guy to Paul two hours in, aren't
he before? You see? Ease? Now? Thank you the greatness
week guy. Most teams don't even sniff a championship. We
just smoked the Dodges in the World Series. We got
(01:44:08):
the Rams coming up in what Tuber Bowl in a
week or so, and maybe if the Berlin can get
crept together, we can get all four championships this year.
How would I want to come down to your house
to watch the Super Bowl with you, so I could
be right next to you. I want to be right
(01:44:30):
next to you when the Patriots lose, right next to
you on the couch. Can we work that out? Can
I come down and watch the Super Bowl with you? Actually,
you can't do that because I don't like to winter.
So I'm in California right now, living out of my
van for the winter. All right, I appreciate the thank you.
All right? Why would you want to just in all seriousness,
(01:44:52):
why would you want to risk that because you know,
you know the Patriots are gonna win, just to ruin
that for you, you know they would. I can't what happened?
Why would you subject yourself to that? All right? Tweets
coming up next, But first ruling into the guy called
Fox Sports Radio Studio Steve Disager. With everything else going
on in the world of sports, including the Super Bowl
is set. What's going on? So after that last call,
(01:45:13):
you say, the rest of the country is rooting against
the Patriots. Pretty good, pretty good opinion up there nine
percent now, by the way, and as the show before
you said, there's we could have said this years ago.
No denying the Patriots and Brady's greatness and all of
that it needs to be repeated. How it's another layer
(01:45:34):
of how stunning all this is for Boston sports in general.
Is three of the greatest figures they'll ever have in sports.
In New England. Belichick, Brady, and David Ortiz were all
complete accidents that they came to their teams. Brady was
passed on by the Patriots for five rounds and the
rest of the league if they knew what they had,
they would have drafted him. Brady, David Ortiz, and Larry
(01:45:55):
Bird are the three most unathletic superstars I've ever seen
in my life. David Ortiz was cut in an off
season and nobody, including the Red Sox signed him for
a few weeks, throwing Babe Ruth, the former Red Sock
that you got all four there, there you go. By
the way, Rams and Patriots have only met once since.
On next season schedule, it's no Rams versus Patriots, but
(01:46:17):
there is New England hosting Kansas City again next season,
and New England will be hosting Dallas and hosting Pittsburgh
next season. On the Rams schedule, There'll be hosting New
Orleans next season and the Rams will be hosting Chicago.
There will be a playoff rematch with Rams at Dallas
next season and Rams at Pittsburgh. So to keep in mind,
by the way, as far as Super Bowl ratings, which
(01:46:37):
you talked about earlier, the last three Patriots entries into
the super Bowl, And keep in mind this decade, every
Super Bowl has gotten over a hundred million viewers, all
of them this decade. When it was the came down
to the wire against Seattle, that was a hundred fourteen
million viewers. The overtime against Atlanta was a hundred eleven mill.
Last year's lost a hundred three mill. And this far
(01:47:00):
super Bowl ratings, the eight most watched TV programs in
United States history are all super Bowls, And you're getting
incredible numbers in viewership now which you didn't used to get.
Remember Joe Montana's first Super Bowl early eighties, and it
wasn't that great a game when they beat the Bengals.
That still has the record for the highest rating for
a Super Bowl, but certainly not the highest total number
(01:47:23):
of viewers. New England won on the road in overtime
to take the a f C. Rams one on the
road in overtime to take the NFC. The Rams were
down at New Orleans thirteen nothing after the first quarter,
down twenty to ten late in the third, but got
field goals on the last three drives and they're headed
to the super Bowl. The winning drive was set up
by an interception caused by hit on Drew Brees by
(01:47:43):
Dante Fowler, and the Rams win on a fifty seven
yard field goal by Greg Zerline. It is the longest
game winning field goal in NFL postseason history. Zer Line,
Gregg the Leg, as he's known, also made a forty
eight yard or to tie it late in regulation. He
was four for four kicking in this game, so the
Rams advance. Even though Todd Gurley, who did have a
(01:48:04):
touchdown run just before halftime aside from that, had three
carries and four yards today. That was pretty good. Someone
gonna find out exactly what's going on there and a
couple more drops. He only had one catch, a three
yard catch, and the Rams are in Super Bowl fifty three.
And a couple of weeks in Atlanta against New England,
which won the coin toss of overtime drove for the
winning TV against that Chief's defense thirteen play seventy five
(01:48:27):
yards the key, three third and ten conversions, and against
a KSE team that was eight and one at home.
New England beat him thirty seven thirty one in overtime.
Sammy Watkins four catches a hundred fourteen yards. Can I
mention a name that didn't come up? Tyreek Hill had
one catch in this game? One people he had? Didn't
(01:48:48):
he have three touchdowns the first game? Again, I don't know.
I don't understand that. I mean, he tried to get
a touch on that return that went negative, but he
had one touch on offense in this game. The Patriots
were in the a f C Championship for the eighth
straight year, Brady and Belichick in it for the thirteenth
time in eighteen years. We'll be back to the show
(01:49:08):
in ten seconds. But first a word from farmers. I'm
a dog accidentally flooding a living room to a dog
taking a joy ride. We've covered it. Talk to farmers.
We know a thing or two. Because we've seen a
thing or two. We are farmers under written. My farmers
struck fire insurance exchanges and affiliates products unavailable in every state.
Adam Long one golfs Desert Classic beating Phil Mickelson by
(01:49:28):
one stroke, and the Baseball Writers Hall of Fame voting
results come up Tuesday. First time candidates include Mariano Rivera
and Roy Halliday, both likely to get in. Back to you,
It's thanks a lot. Steve de Seger has the show.
Rolls on Arnie's picks are coming up in our final
Edeman touched the ball too. I wish you would just
admit it and fess up to it. You know, I
(01:49:49):
can't believe they overturned that. I really can't. There was
not even enough proof on that. That's the look. If
he didn't touch it, fine, but you can't overturn that
there was. You couldn't tell and the replay that he'd
touch it. We now have reached this point to where, uh, indisputable, irrefutable,
whatever term you want to use evidence. I mean, I
guess there's a slimmer margin for that. Then I could
(01:50:12):
have ever imagined aren'tie? Because again I just I base
a lot of things on Twitter because I'm a dope.
But still, I mean, Twitter couldn't even come up with
whether or not he had touched it or hadn't touched it. Oh,
I saw it glance off his thumb, and then she said, oh,
you're an idiot. Never touched anything, it is left arm
and then you're in his left arm from that angle.
So in my mind, all this stuff that we're doing
(01:50:34):
on social media, you would have to think these officials,
because it's the dumbest thing in the world that you
have a thousand foot jumbo tron right behind these guys.
Did they get a little iPad who kinda watch things
and see how what they think about the replaying you.
I know that in New York they have the big
monsters set up, but this official and the replay officials
(01:50:54):
aren'te have to be having this exact same kind of conversation, right,
I think I see him touch it there. I don't
know what do you guys call on the field? Well,
we said he touched it, all right, I can't see
anything clear, I don't. I just don't know how that
was overturned. Now karma kind of kicked in and they
had to turn over what two plays later, But still
that just that really seemed like a very odd overturn
(01:51:15):
based on what appeared to be something that didn't just
absolutely blow away what we'd seen on the field. Shocked
that they did it. There was nothing that I saw,
uh that was one way or the other. So I
don't know how you could overturn that, which is I'm shocked.
Paul Tech said, I thank God every day. I'm not
from Boston or Vermont, so I don't know how we
threw Vermont in there. I don't know why you have
(01:51:35):
the want us in with them. I don't know how
that figured out. Well, you're part of the area, Arnie,
and I all I see is it's your wife. Four
hours you know, or three hours? Well, you're making your
wife shovel snow. So I wouldn't want to be in
that area either. Go on shovel snow. We got two
feet of snow. What do you think I was gonna
go out there? That's the winemaker? Now, I do you
(01:51:56):
think I want a heart attack? Get out of here.
It'll make so since your wife, what does it mean
when Geico says just fifteen minutes could save you fifteen
or more on car insurance means you probably should have
gone to get dot Com fifteen minutes ago. I want
to add this at one not done. Mr Wonderful says
people have been complaining about the o T rules since
Falcons Patriots last year in the Super Bowl. Stop acting
like it just came up after today's game. Yeah, Mr Wonderful.
(01:52:18):
People were losing their minds after the opening game between
the Rams and the Saints as to how the overtime
rules truly affected the game. Now, I don't dispute that
something needs to be done and that we complain about
it when it's convenient, But I saw it absolutely positively.
No person complaining about the overtime rules after the Saints
Rams game this morning. We didn't care about the Super
Bowl last year because the Atlanta Falcons are two years ago.
(01:52:42):
Because the Falcons went ahead and blew a big Gleeds,
So we're like, oh, they deserved it that. Yeah, yeah,
you take that. That's what you get. All right, Two
quick calls and then we'll get your picks and we'll
wrap up some tweets. Jeff in Minnesota, you're up. What's
going on? Jeff? Thanks or real quick. The first thing
(01:53:02):
is adding past their appearance to the replay doesn't take
any any thought. You only get to two red plants
a third if you do if you do good on
the first two, why would you not do this? Because
that play is more screwed up than most of the
stuff that people challenge, Like half a yard spot or
(01:53:24):
something like that. Because it's subjective, you can't you can't
do it. So there's no way to overturn that. But
so here's why I'm calling. Saints fans are gonna hate this,
but I'm from Minnesota and there is karma. I mean,
when Sean Payte takes the time to do the skull
chance in front of our fans in our stadium and
(01:53:45):
then gets burnt up on the Minneapolis Miracle and then
this happens, I can't do nothing but platform because of
our head coach did the Lambeau leap in Green Bay,
we would deserve the same thing. Appreciate the all karma
strikes again, Chris Karma. I have a friend that just
does not believe in karma, and I'll give all these
(01:54:05):
little nope, nope, it just it doesn't exist. We've seen
several examples today now and what Jeff brought up would
be an interesting one to add to it as well.
And let's wrap it up on the phones for a
very busy show tonight at eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox with Tim in Pennsylvania. Tim, what's going on man?
Not much? Guys. First off, I gotta give a big
shout out to the kids at death. Once again, you
(01:54:27):
did not fail to deliver. So thank you, thank you.
I appreciate, appreciate that. But listen, as a lifelong Patriot fan,
I gotta sit back and just enjoy this, because let
me ask you something. What do people remember about the
nineteen eighties Pittsburgh Steelers or the nineteen nineties forty Niners
or the two thousands of Dallas Cowboys. You see the
(01:54:50):
trend up going with that, It's that is the decade
after the dynasty. We have never seen back to back
decades of a single dynasty which we are experiencing right now,
and I just I think we should all marvel at
it because something tells me Sunday, February three, which ironically enough,
seventeen years ago, mark the start of the dynasty against
(01:55:10):
the same team, this could very well be the last
ride for Brady and Belichick. From your lips to God's ears,
we can only hold the call. You can well, and
I will say this much. It does seem like they're
really enjoying playing this underdog role. And I don't know
if that's something that would motivate Tom to want to
(01:55:31):
come back, or if gizl is like, you are done,
it's over, We're moving on. But they really seem to
dig on you playing this underdog role during this past
week heading into the sea. Tom Brady retire if he
wins the Super Bowl? I mean, really, should you continue
to be selfish when you could win a Super Bowl,
go to three straight, walk out on top while you
(01:55:52):
can still walk and you're not limping away from the game,
and you don't have massive concussions, and you're in your
forties and you're gonna be forty two and if your
window world, there's why shouldn't you walk away? Are super Bowl?
I'm with you, I'm right there with you. You win it,
you go home. You enjoy life being very, very rich
and with an amazing family, and you can walk and
(01:56:14):
you can move around and and by the way, for
all this, how great Belichick is. You know a lot
of the other coaches would be great too if third
quarterbacks left about sixty million dollars on the table like
Tom Brady has had, so they could spend money on
other free agents. Okay, so you know piped out a
little bit too on that. When we come back to
the guy who Fox Sports Radio Studios, we wrap it
(01:56:35):
up the only way we know how with the stinkin
geniuses picks. That's next. With already in playing from Fox
Sports Radio. From a hot of the loot landing on
a car to a load of concrete falling on one,
we've covered it. Talk to farmers. We know a thing
or two because we've seen a thing or two. We
are farmers under written my Farmers truck fire insureance, exchanges
(01:56:56):
and affiliates products unavailable in every state. I just saw
that Eddie Garcia is taking the night off. I can't
imagine that Mallor is taking the night off. He can't
be with the Rams going to the Super Bowl, right,
Big Ben is coming up next? Stop stop it this,
Big Ben. He rooted for a different team every year
(01:57:16):
for the last twenty years. Stop that. You root for
a different team every week, and you and you want
to try to claim the Dolphins when they're good. Come on.
He wavered on the Rams, never wavered on the Rams
when they were in l A. So he gets to celebrate.
By the way, thanks to Ramos for coming in tonight
and working with this, even though he should be on
(01:57:38):
a bender after the Rams went to the Super Bowl.
Thanks to Ryan Burr singer as well too. I believe
I said that right, Ryan, And of course to Seger
and the host of editors back putting together sound including
I'm sure Arnie's very upset that to Tom Brady dropped
an F bomb, So they're trying to make sure they
edit out over and over and over. Are you even
(01:58:00):
gonna be happy to watch the Super Bowl? You're so
over the top anti Patriots even though you're really a fan.
How can you even enjoy yourself? I can't. I can't
even go to work this week. I'm gonna tell them
that I got snowed in. I can't make it to work.
You can't make it to work. We got two feet
of snow out. You didn't even ask me about that. Well, yes,
we asked you about it. You were busy on Twitter
(01:58:21):
talking about how you made your wife clean it all up.
So I don't really have too much sympathy for you.
If you have your poor wife out shoveling snow, are
not anything for it? All? Right? Well, listen, before we
wrap things up with some tweets, let's do this. It's
time for Arnie's Picks to take us into a pre
super Bowl week so Arnie Spaniard taken away. I'm not
(01:58:44):
I'm not gonna make your way. Two weeks, I got
the Rams beating the Patriots one. It's gonna be a
close game. I'm hoping they could pull away. I'm hoping
that Ram defense can slow down the Patriots. So far,
no luck in the playoffs, anybody's slowing down the Patriots.
But I'm still thinking the Rams have enough offense to
put on the board where the Patriots k keep up
with them in the ReBs have a better defense than
(01:59:06):
obviously Kansas City, uh and and whoever else the Patriots
and the Charges, whoever. The Patriots have the fight through.
So I'm gonna go with Rams thirty four thirty one
over the Patriots, maybe a little bit more depending on
game time. So I am gonna maybe at just the
score and take the over one minute and forty five seconds.
I'm Gladys Night singing the national anthem. She's She's gonna
(01:59:28):
take her time. That's all I have. That's it, that's
all you have. Well, I'm not gonna give away all
the props right now. There's so many good ones. I'm
gonna study them for the week and and figure out
which ones. I want to bet. There's a lot of
good ones out there, you know, I mean there there's
I mean no college basketball, I mean no NBA from
this week, nothing, I mean no predictions on whether or
(01:59:50):
not we'll ever see a Major League Baseball free agent
sign again. You're just that down on you just had
down on the Patriots making the Super Bowl. You're just done.
I'll give you all my off next week. By the way,
I like, will there be an on side kick attempt
in the game? Yes? His minus one seventy. A lot
of good stuff here off Twitter than to take us home,
James writes, when it comes to the Chiefs Pats game,
(02:00:11):
the most experienced team one wasn't dirty like that manure
of a game with the Saints and the Races. Hey,
I mean, come on, stop it. You guys are making
excuses for a mentally weak team. Let's they had several
opportunities stop the Rams and couldn't. U c L Dodger
Frank writes. Other prop bets for Sunday, What will there
(02:00:35):
be more of Arnie Wows on the air or completions
by Jared Goff Arnie w Arnie Wiles, no doubt about it,
will Arnie mentioned Steve Kurd during the radio show. Yes,
his minus one Edie nos plus one fifth. Absolutely absolutely,
And what will be higher the temperature in Vermont or
(02:00:55):
Tom brady rush yards. I'm gonna say the temperature in
Vermont will be in the single digits. So I don't
think Tom Brady's gonna have too many rushing yards, Mike, right, Sorry,
guys that are roughing the passer prop bat has already happened.
They let the Patriots when the coin toss in the
first play, they called roughing the pass or because the
(02:01:15):
Rams looked at Brady first sent for the h Eddie.
Eddie tweeted in and it kind of stood up for
a point that was brought up that you kind of
dumped all over. But I understand why after the last
couple of years here, I get what your caller meant
about golf. You couldn't trade Jared golf for a rule
of toilet paper after his first year with the Rams.
I think he's still salty about that. Uh. And then
(02:01:37):
one more, the so called this from the so called
m v P had the ball in his hands to
finish the Rams and ot and throws a pick in
his own house stop with the crying about the p I.
I think he can still. I think you can still
complain about there being a bad call and yet still
understand that that the Saints had their chance just I
(02:02:00):
think both of those can equally happen. But in the end,
it's obviously a major game changing play that wins the
Rams away. All right, Arnie, can't wait to hear all
the prop bets next week. Man, have an exciting week
counted down the Super Bowl. I know you're so excited.
The Patriots in the super Bowl again. Big Ben's coming
up next for Artie up Plank. We'll see you next
(02:02:21):
week on
