Speaker 1 (00:01):
You don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Well, that's right, you heard the man. It is that
time of week. My name is Bernie Frottle. We are
coming toy line from the Fox Sports Radio studios here
in Las Vegas. Absolute jam packed show tonight. We'll take
you up to three am Pacific, six am Eastern. We've
got my man, Steve Fesick at the Pheasant five coming
(00:26):
up in about twenty minutes. We'll do a rapid fire
lightning round game by game NFL break down. Get your
pens and pencils radio. Of course we're gonna get him
to shodoor Sanders. You think we won't come on. He's
making his debut here, well they called it a debut
last week. He's starting for the first time in the
(00:46):
NFL here in Las Vegas. Kicks off at about fourteen
hours and we have a very raucous midnight hour coming up.
Lots of NBA stuff for our guy Mark Madeen at
one am, including that one guy who's back. What's his name?
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (01:03):
He calls himself the King all smiles. The other night,
just one big happy fest against Utah. Got the fantasy,
We got everything. Everything that I will go over to
the NFL Playoff picture later contenders versus pretenders and much
much more.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
Speaking of pretenders, well, there is a famed actress. She's
pretty much done now. Her name is Lily Tomlin and
quite a career, and at the un of her curse,
she says, you know, I always wanted to be somebody.
I just wish I'd been more specific. And when I
hear that quote, it I think of it conjures up
(01:41):
subject matter like uh USC football, Lincoln Riley and when
he got to town four years ago. I mean, according
to Colin cawrd, you'd have thought this is a fat,
a complete undefeated every year, don't give up a point,
National championships. It's almost too easy, man, this is too easy.
And I you know, now it feels like the Water
(02:03):
Bowl move. Oh no, he suck again. Here we go
just a week ago. Lincoln Riley speaking of okay, who
wants to be somebody who? But they weren't specific. Who
is USC? Who is USC? I remember the great USC
teams and when they really were USC? And can they
ever get back to that? Yeah? Yeah, but I don't
(02:27):
think it's gonna happen in Lincoln Riley up all due respect.
He talked about last week's dramatic victory over Iowa in
the rainstorm as quote a culture win, a culture win.
Maybe he was talking about the Culture Club and boy
George for all I know, google it if you don't
know it, knuckleheads. It only tookhimout a week for all
(02:49):
that good vibe to fade. The Trojans repeatedly made mistakes
Saturday that cost them at Oregon. They were ten and
a half point underdog. Surely you just Oregon wouldn't win
by two score. Now they did. They actually won by
three scores. USC fans I don't really appreciate I can
imagine they don't really appreciate another punt return. Well, a
(03:13):
punt return. Elite Fence's eighty five yard run broke a
fourteen fourteen tie. And it's plays like that that just
change a game. And if it looked from there, deja
vu all over again, Yogi. It happened at Notre Dame
a few weeks back. It was a kickoff return earlier
in the season. They flipped the momentum, so out beend.
(03:35):
So two terrible road losses. USC would not be going
to the playoffs this year. Maybe they'll get a nice
fruit basket, go to the Peach Bowl and play two Lane.
Oh no, no, wait, you don't want you know they
lost to to Lane, which USC fans will never forget.
And that was in the Lincoln Rally air. By the way,
nothing against Jade Maavi's had a good year former unb transfer.
(03:56):
But a couple of interceptions today, multiple drive extending defensive
pass interferences later. Well, let's put it this way. USC
is not a championship caliber outfit. In case you haven't
noticed now, they should close the season at nine and three.
They beat UCLA next week. That's at this point. And
(04:16):
I told my buddy Steve Hart, and I was a
big UCLA fan back in the day, I don't know
what in the world's happened to that. That's school. But
beating UCLA let next week, that's like being what the
best hockey player in Argentina. But nine to three, which
is nothing really to boast about in my humble opinion,
I just told you about Lane Kiffin being ten and
one three years in a row. That would be Lincoln's
(04:39):
Ryley's best record since twenty twenty two, his first year
with the program. But Lincoln Riley wasn't brought to USC
to post nine to win seasons. They hired him to
win titles. Okay, expectations are a bitch, aren't they. Well.
By the way, speaking of expectations, maybe you can all
get off arch Manning's back right now. Now, there's something
(05:01):
about when Texas plays Arkansas. I would say this, If
arch Manning could play Arkansas every week, then Peyton Manning
and Eli Manning might be carrying his water instead of
the other way around. Now. I get that the overall
season has not matched what expectations were, and there were
(05:24):
massive expectations heaped upon him arch Manning, but he did
prove on Saturday that he has a tremendous ceiling. If
you didn't watch and the scouts all high on him,
it's not they're projecting what he can be someday. So
here's the key. He threw for four touchdowns, even caught
one on a trick play, and ran went in fifty
(05:46):
two to thirty seven blow out victory. By the way,
the last quarterback to throw a touchdown pass, run for
a touchdown, and catch a touchdown pass in the same
game I believe was Dak Prescott back at at Mississippi State.
How about Brenton Venables. You know, lying in the weeds
(06:07):
are the Oklahoma Sooners. They're the prettiest of teams, but
they don't care. They don't draw pictures in the scorebook.
He keeps it simple. They just line up and kick
your butt. They hold Missouri to six points, and Venables
set afterwards, set to himself quote, it's not pretty, but
this is not a beauty contest. But winning is not
(06:29):
ugly for any program. Just ask if you're looking for
a sure thing in college football. Oklahoma's defense is about
as close as it gets. And they've been missing one
of their best player in Mason Thomas, but they still
got four sacks. And I think Oklahoma is going to
be a problem in the playoffs. And we're in that era.
And remember, after next weekend. After next weekend, we're gonna
(06:51):
pretty much know what the twelfth team field is, and
you know whether you can make your plans to go
to the after Bluebonnet Bowl or the Minute Bowl or
wherever you like to go for a bull season. So
fairly nondescript day in college football. I wanted to point
out USC and I wanted to point out Oklahoma because
those kind of stuck out to me, and I wanted
(07:13):
to point out March Arch Manning, and like I said,
I promise you we are going to get to Shudor Sanders. Now,
I don't root against Shudor Sanders on a root for
him either. I route for the story. And the most
interesting story Sunday would be Shodoor Sanders throwing for three
(07:33):
hundred yards two or three touchdowns in leaguest team to
victory and silencing his doubters for one day. That would
be the most interesting story. But what's interesting is how
are you going to view Shodoor Sanders on Sunday? How
are you going to juxtapose your expectations on someone who, hey,
(07:54):
let's face it, he's just a fifth round draft pick.
Lots of fifth round draft picks have made a debut
in the National Football As a matter of fact, if
total of fifty three times fifty six times that's happened
a fifth round quarterback draft pick has made their debut,
They've only won nineteen times in those debuts, completed about
(08:16):
fifty percent of their passes passer passing about one hundred
and thirty five yards a game. That's what the average
has been thirty three touchdowns, seventy two interceptions and passed
the rating of fifty four point two. And I know
everybody wants to complain about the fact that Shudor had
no reps with the first team when he got on
(08:37):
the field against Baltimore last week. I continued that if
you had reps, he still holds a ball too long.
He doesn't process what he sees. He drifts back in
the back of the pocket, runs out of the back
of the pocket when he was pressure to be sacked twice,
including on his opening possession. You know, all the Ravens
players celebrated by mocking him with his wrist up celebration.
You know, hey, maybe the Ravens were set up. They
(08:58):
were preparing all week for for Dylan Gabriel. They weren't
able to prepare for the great Schodor Sanders. He did
call himself legendary. There's another guy who I always want
to be. Somebody wish I was more specific. Look, the
truth of the matter is, these are facts, These are
objective truths. And I will be the first to give well.
(09:19):
I will be the first, probably one of the people
to give shot or credit if he plays well Sunday,
that would be the real story. If he comes in
there and stinks it up in Las Vegas, so what,
That's just another story from the Naked City. We've seen
millions of those. But let's be honest. The only people
who seemed confident Sanders would be a top ten selection
in the draft were Sanders and his PR team, and
(09:41):
his agents and his posse. He had plenty of opportunities
the Shrine Bowl and the Combine to compete and prove
he was ready to lead an NFL team right away
next season, and he opted against both instead, claiming his
college tape and all NFL teams were all they needed
to see. He'd say, we know where we're going. Yeah, well,
well it wasn't. Frankly, his approach to the pre Daft
(10:02):
process should be a lesson in what not to do
for future quarterbacks. You simply cannot declare yourself something you
aren't and hope nobody checks you on it. The reality
here is Sanders is a good football player. He in
some eyes as a quality prospect and someone who could
eventually turn into a functional starter if you surround him
with the right talent. Those are all theoretical things and give
(10:24):
him a strong offensive line. But the scouts Hall told
me his arm, talent, his size, his pocket processing, his
general overconfidence were not necessarily things that were. They were
endeared to. And by the way, whether you like it
or not, this is an objective truth. I saw Baker
Mayfield come off the bench in the middle of Hell
when Cleveland was in the one and thirty one, did
just fine. Oh yeah, he was a first round draft pick. Yeah,
(10:47):
my point. And I saw Ered Rodgers do it in
two thousand and seven in Dallas. Seen lots of debuts
that were inopportune and not under pristine conditions, and I've
seen some stinkers, including last Sunday. The fact Sanders had
the most inefficient NFL debut in terms of EPA per
play since Ian Book back in twenty twenty one. By
(11:07):
the way, that was Book's only career start, is he legendary.
Sanders averaged the fewest yards per drop at one point
seven in an NFL debut since Ryan Linley from San
Diego State back in twenty twelve. Sanders averaged a few
st yards per attempt two point nine as an NFL
debut since Quincy Carter twenty five years ago, and at
(11:28):
the lowest completed rate twenty five percent in an NFL
debut since nineteen eighty four. Yeah, google it, Scott stan Cabbage.
The good news is Sanders gets to prove us all
wrong Sunday. He gets to prove us wrong. Don't tell me,
show me, and I'm gonna be watching. I want to
(11:49):
see what he can do. We'll give him his day
in court. But talk is cheap. Coming up, Well, this
guy's talk is not cheap. We are going to our guy,
Steve Fesswick. Get your pens and pencils ready. You will
be drinking through a fire hose. All kinds of information,
lots of really interesting game Sunday, Indianapolis at Kansas City's
(12:13):
got my attention. I have a strong opinion about that game.
Pittsburgh at the Bears. Eagles of Dallas used to name
a few Minnesota Green Bay were and cover them all.

Alrighty, we are back on the Bernie Frattle Show Fox
Sports Radio. Can you lie? From the Fox Sports Radio
studios here in Las Vegas. We are just getting started
with take It to three in Pacific six eight m Eastern.
Swelcome and a gentleman who's been a staple on this
show for eight years, fixture around the network, one of
the most respected handicappers in the universe. Let's just put
(14:37):
it this way, folks, it's time for the Physik five.
Speaker 8 (14:41):
The time it's the physic five. These are the five
things you need to hear about. Not with the only
back to back Hilton Super contest winner Steve Fessig.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
Here's Bernie Fratto, Yes, the only back to back two
time winner of the prestigious Hilton now Westgate Super Contest.
Say hello to Steve Phessix, Fast, good evening, how are you?
Speaker 9 (15:06):
I am excellent, Bernie? Thanksgiving fast approaches it is?
Speaker 2 (15:11):
It is all right. Of course I'll be eating and
drinking two with an inch of my life. But that's
a that's a story for a different day. Fast. Let's
go through some games. We're wrapping up with the two
Best Bets, which people love to hear about. They involve totals.
But I want to dive into some games I'm very
interested in. I want to start with Indianapolis at Kansas City,
(15:32):
Chiefs are you can now get threes or threes everywhere?
Chiefs laying three fast? How do you feel about transitive property?
Because last week the Chiefs were laying four in Denver?
In Denver, Denver was actually a favorite at the Colts
a while back, one and a half, and now the
Chiefs are laying three. If anything in the line feels
(15:55):
light to me, I know I've got my detractors. Because
the feature the NFL's leading passer and Russier, but hothouse
teams going into a cold environment like that. You see
what happened in Pittsburgh. And I'm not gonna use the
term must win because that never matters. But I think
and Andy Reid coming off a loss in this situation,
I feel like the Chiefs get right your thoughts.
Speaker 9 (16:17):
That's the only way I could look Bernie Ot. The
Colts haven't looked nearly as good precision timing team on
the road, and you know they struggled in the European
game also where they got bailed out with a couple
of long runs with Jonathan Taylor. Bottom line, the line,
the line on this game is three point twenty five.
What the heck does that mean? Well, there's three is
and there's three and a halves and this is boring.
(16:39):
Every time I come on I talk about it. Kansas
City minus three, I think really good wager Kansas City
minus three and a half, I think garbage. I've got
Kansas City two points better than Indy. Give them one
for home field. It makes the game three. But the
Chiefs need the game like blood. It's a better spot
for the Chiefs. So you can make a case because
of the spot. Absolutely you can get my three. I
(16:59):
would endorse the Kansas City.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
Yeah. I feel like listen, they're an eight and two
team disguise to the five and five team. I know,
fifts and bucks for candy and nuts. Kelsey drops that
pass and the end zone pops right into an eagle defender.
Terrible interception in the end zone against Jacksonville by Mahomes,
And you saw what happened last week, terrible interception on
the five yard line that flipped the game. Again. I
(17:22):
never used the term must win because thirty one of
the thirty two teams will lose the game they must
win this season, So I would just say this. The
Chiefs are allowing seventeen point nine points at home, and
Mahomes road home splits are quite different, so I think
he has a good game Sunday Minnesota at Green Bay.
(17:44):
Interestingly enough, is JJ McCarthy two and zero and his
only two career road starts. Jordan Love threw for a
career high three hundred and sixty nine yards the last
time they played the Vikings at home. But back to
JJ McCarthy, he's missing wide open receivers twenty two percent
of the time, and I think there's a lot of
internal strife in Green Bay on their offense. But I
(18:06):
don't want to lay the six and a half your thoughts.
Speaker 9 (18:08):
Yeah, I would bet Vikings plus seven. I don't want
plus six and a half for all the reasons that
you cited, other than the quarterback differential. Vikings would certainly
be the right side. I gotta feel JD. McCarthy they're
going to treat him with kid gloves this week. Be
real careful. The Packers play really slow and their missing weapons.
So on my best bet here one of my best
(18:29):
bets under forty one and a half.
Speaker 2 (18:31):
That might be a good play. That might be a
good play. Points might be a premium. It always concerned
me that the Packers consistently played down to their competition.
But you got Detroit Luby next week and Thanksgiving. They
better be buttoned up, all right. The game that's I
think is going to have a lot of people's attention
to Eagles at Dallas Eagles in their last two games,
(18:51):
of course, they've won, but only combined for twenty six
points in their last two games. Meanwhile, Dak Prescott four
touchdowns a one thirty eight pass erading against the Raiders
last week. Now does that count against the Raiders. Okay,
I'm kidding, but Dallas plus three is a trendy play.
Here your thoughts.
Speaker 9 (19:10):
Yeah again, I'm boring. The play was Dallas plus three
and a half, and I think that that had solid
value At plus three, I don't think it has any
value at all. How can that be just just just
a silly half point? Well, Burnie, ten percent of the time,
Philly is going to win this game by exactly three.
So think about that. If Dallas was a fifty five
percent play, play one hundred times and they cover plus
(19:32):
three and a half, you go fifty five and forty five.
You're styling, you're making lots of money, but you turned
ten of those wins into losses and now all of
a sudden you're losing. So that's the problem with not
getting the best of the number. I am going under
in this game. I think totally different scenario. Remember these
two teams scored forty four points in the first half
(19:53):
Week one, but the Dallas defense is much better than
it was and the Eagle offense is much worse. I'm
looking under. You still get at eight under forty.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
Eight says I want to jump to this Sunday night
game the Buccaneers and the Rams. Bucks, you're on a heater.
But this is going to be another transitive property question.
Let me start here. If Buffalo were to play Tampa
Bay on a neutral tomorrow, what do you make That
line says.
Speaker 9 (20:18):
Yeah, the Buffalo is power ratings of five and a half.
Tampa Bay is like a point five on a neutral,
five points, five points favorite.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
So here's what's interesting. Buffalo was laying five against the
Rams last week at home, got the late cover. The
Rams are laying seven against Tampa Bay Sunday. Is that
line too late?
Speaker 9 (20:41):
Well, I go back to my power ratings. I got
the Rams, my number one rated team right now, Bernie,
six points better than average team. I got Tampa half
a point better on a neutral five and a half.
Give the Rams one and a half for home field,
and get I get to seven. And that's what the
number is. But guess what. That's the problem. The power
ratings almost always match what the market is. Know why,
because it's not nineteen ninety eight anymore. When everyone was
(21:04):
who was good at this was making money hand over fists.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
So I didn't pull the trigger. I looked long and
hard and grabbing Tampa Bay plus to seven back to
back road games, though they were in Buffalo last week
and Todd Bowles defense has allowed eleven touchdowns of twenty
five or more yards this season. That's a lot. But
what's interesting the Rams out game last week by Seattle
(21:29):
by one hundred and seventy yards, had four picks and
Seattle was still lining up to kick a field goal
and win the game.
Speaker 9 (21:36):
He real important with this Bernie Sunday night football, public's
going to be betting the Rams, Circadian rhythms or whatever
it is. The West Coast teams do great on Sunday
night football. Where I'm going is the good story is
everyone's betting the Rams. You'll get plus seven and a
half on Tampa and I can endorse a plus seven
and a half right at Post.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
I think if we get seven and a half of Post,
I'll throw some pizza money on Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay
is just not healthy. I know they're getting a couple
guys back, but they're they're kind of regressing back to
the mean. Another team, Fez, that's a high wire act.
I can't lie. I grabbed the Steelers plus three. I
don't know if Aaron Rodgers is gonna play. There's no
(22:20):
way to know, at least I haven't heard. I've tried
he might or might not. I'd still be comfortable with
Mason Rudolph. But Rodgers is twelve and three at Soldier Field.
Here's what's interesting. I look at this Bears team, Fez,
I just feel like it's a higher wire actor doing
with the Merrors, and they're you know, they've got a
winning record even though they have a negative point differential.
(22:41):
What are your thoughts on the Bears Pittsburgh.
Speaker 9 (22:44):
It's the double Fugasey game of the week. We want
to bet against both these teams, so I guess whoever wins,
we fade them the rest of the year. The Bears,
they keep winning games twenty five, twenty four by miracles,
and they beat bad teams. They beat the Raiders by
like one point spurred it keeps getting their fair share
of big breaks. I think it nailed it. And again,
(23:05):
sorry to be a broken record. If I've been working
on many, many betting syndicates and this is the way
it works. People like there's this myth that people like, oh,
there's a right side and the wrong side. Total crap.
Not true. The right side is Pittsburgh plus three. You
bet Pittsburgh plus three, you make a lot of money
sports betting. If you bet Pittsburgh plus two, you lose.
(23:25):
That's the bottom line. And you know what I keep
looking at. It's getting close. There's like a plus three
miles one fifteen out there and betting exchanges.
Speaker 10 (23:34):
I'm holding out.
Speaker 9 (23:34):
For plus three. I may never get it, but that's
what I want.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
I was able to get plus three, and I would
say this, you look for stringth versus weakness in anticapping.
You and I go back fifteen years. I like to
talk about technical aspects and fundamental aspects. The technical aspect
is Mike Tomlin's been pretty damn good as a dog
in his career. Anybody can look that up. But I
look for a mismatch here, and I actually think Pittsburgh's
(23:59):
pass rush he's gonna wreak havoc on Caleb Williams, who
lets you run around like Ben It's queue up the
Benny Hill music. He lets you run around like a
whirling dervish, and he's he's been getting away with it.
And I just think tomorrow comes crashing or Sunday comes
crashing down. Do you factor that in at all. Mike
Tomlin in the defensive scheme, lots of stunts and a
pretty pretty robust pass rush, which is gonna put a
(24:23):
lot of pressure on Caleb Williams. Do you factor that
end at all? Oh?
Speaker 9 (24:27):
Sure, you know the bear? Curiously, the Bear's old line
is actually pretty good. But you're right Williams like he
feels pressure that is non existent. He sees ghosts. I
I don't like. I don't like Rogers, so I don't
mind if I if I get Rudolph at all. I
certainly don't like Kayleb Williams right now. So well, there's
(24:48):
lots of reasons to think they're headed to overtime, and
I don't know who's gonna win.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
All right. Another trendy play, but full disclosure, I am
not involved on this one. The pant catching seven at
the forty nine ers again. Another Monday night game. It's
a Monday night game. It's a standalone TV game. Bryce Jong,
who I always believe that come around and he's done another.
Dave Canalis through for a franchise record four hundred and
(25:13):
forty eight yards last week against Atlanta, And you know,
don't look now, but the Niners get their points to
Christian McCaffrey leads to the NFL with fourteen and thirty
nine yards from scammage. I can't find the side in
that game. I know that caroenlining has been a trendy play,
but it might turn into being over. Do you have
any thoughts on that game? Sider total?
Speaker 9 (25:35):
Yeah, you can talk me into the over. You can
talk me into the Niners team total over. Bryce Young
can't play on the road, so that's a problem. And
with a sky high total at fifty and both teams
are getting healthier. If you like the Niners, the best
advice I'd give is you can tease it right now
mina seven downward, or you can lay my seven. If
you like the Panthers, I'm very confident that you will
(25:56):
get plus seven and a half. Write at post. Personally,
I did the Niners in teasers. It's them with the Rems,
with Arizona and with Atlanta.
Speaker 2 (26:08):
Fez. Let's go to a game, and I know you're
gonna punch me through the phone, But I do this
maybe once a year, maybe once every two years, where
I will lay double digit. So earlier in the week
I laid the Lions minus ten and a half. But
you gotta know this about Dan. By the way, you
got the happless New York Giants and Jamis Winston come
to the town when it mattered most last week. What does
(26:28):
jameson Jamis Winston do. Throws it a pick in the
end zone and turns it over. So you got the
hapless Giants who mainly the season the happless Jameis Winston. Meanwhile,
Dan Campbell the last thirteen games he has lost, coming
off a loss thirteen to zero, straight up and against
the number by an average of eighteen points. Six points. Okay,
(26:49):
it doesn't exist anymore. The ten and a half. I
think it's up to thirteen and a half. But I
gotta tell you, Fez, it wouldn't surprise me if they
covered it. Do you have any thoughts on this game?
Speaker 9 (27:00):
Your handicap, it's consistent with mine. Let me ask you
who's who's the better quarterback Marx or Jameis Winston and
by how much?
Speaker 2 (27:08):
Well, remember we're talking about golf. You're a golfer. Oh,
I'm sorry, Marx.
Speaker 9 (27:14):
Dart Dart for the dark Jackson Dart.
Speaker 2 (27:16):
Oh Dart Dart all day and every day by two points,
by two and a half points.
Speaker 9 (27:22):
Where I'm going is that.
Speaker 2 (27:24):
I'd say, I'd say by more, I'd say I would
so go far as to safe. It's good, a good,
good conversation. Lastly, week before when Denver, I would say,
if he Jackson Dart would have started against Green Bay,
the Giants would have won. Yeah.
Speaker 9 (27:37):
Yeah, it's a great point because they absolutely that did
catch them to give that. That's your handicap if you
believe that lay the thirteen with the line oh no.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
No, no, I'm not laying it, no no, But I
laid the ten and a half. But I think there
are people out there laying the thirteen and a half
and with the scores thirty one to six in the
fourth quarter, and why didn't I see that coming? We
both know you can't lay double digit in the NFL.
But every now and then, you know, you get a
little man of from heaven and you're going up against
Jamis Winston and a mad Lions team, and these numbers
(28:05):
don't lie. As a matter of fact, I believe the
Detroit Lions have played fifty five games. In the last
fifty five games, they have not lost two in a row.
Speaker 9 (28:12):
I will give you a same game parlay four legs, Bernie,
I'll have played Detroit to the over. I'll play Gibbs
rush yards over. I'll play Montgomery rush yards over. Detroit
kills them. That's a fun play, pays about seven to one,
and I like it's consistent completely with your handicap, which
is logical.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
All right, let's finish up here, Fez in Las Vegas,
where we both live. The Cleveland Browns come to town.
This kid, Shadoor Sanders making his first career start under center. Now,
this is a tremendous mismatch on the interior Lions. I
believe Cleveland will pressure Gino Smith and hit them more
(28:53):
than a Rocky Balboa. And at the same time, I
believe they'll be able to product Shood or Sanders somewhat,
except for maybe Max Crosby having said that, do you
like Cleveland plus to four? Now down down to three
and a half or my favorite go ahead?
Speaker 9 (29:08):
My favorite line from Rocky the Original was ken Balbo
would go three rounds because Vegas says no. I agree
with the money on Cleveland plus four. I mean, the
Raiders are bad on offense and they're bad on defense.
The Browns are horrendous on offense and good on defense.
So from a simple handicap, the only like good group
(29:29):
out there is the Browns defense. So Sanders doesn't turn
it over again, we're head to overtime. If we head
to overtime, then the Browns should cover plus four.
Speaker 2 (29:38):
I think the Browns went out right, but I also
think Sanders are turning it over. They got a guy
by the name of Quinn Shawn Judkins. And we both
know I'm not a prop player. I stay in my lane,
but I gotta believe quin Shawn Judkins prop. What is
his yards prop tomorrow? Like sixty nine yards something like that,
you may know.
Speaker 9 (29:54):
That's why I'm sure he'd be low eighties. I would
much rather play him usage like over twenty carries and
to play his yardage.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
Oh okay, I think his yardage might be a good play.
I do.
Speaker 9 (30:06):
They're going to stack the box, he's he's not going
to be able to get the yardage, or if he does,
he's going to do it Bernie with twenty four carries.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
Yes, okay, okay, that's fair enough. And that's exactly why
I don't play props. And of course, one of our
favorite shows is the Super Bowl show. You play about
sixty props every year and you count your money in
The Brainstruck on the following Monday says, let's get to
your two best bets. They both involve totals. We talked
(30:34):
about the Minnesota Green Bay game earlier. Give the peeps
your thoughts.
Speaker 9 (30:38):
Yeah, so two unders. I'm gonna go Minnesota Green Bay
under forty one and a half where vike yous don't
trust the quarterback and the Packers play so slow and
they're missing their pieces. And Philly Dallas we've seen the
complete reversal of the Eagles have gone from a high
flying offense to a dead nut under team holding down
marquee teams but not being able to score in Dallas
(31:00):
third defense is very much improved. If you could get
Pittsburgh plus three, they would become a best bet as well.
Speaker 2 (31:08):
Okay, fair enough, So we have one more best bet
from the great Steve Phasick and the Physic five, and
once again it involves a total. Let's go back to
the Philly Dallas game. Your thoughts on that?
Speaker 9 (31:21):
Yeah, Like I just said, I see a completely different
first half from what we saw week one. I see
a very close to the best game and the Eagles
running clock, and that's what they're doing, Bernie, that's how
they They just won a game, you know, thirteen to six.
So I see more of the same game plan they
had against Detroit. We're going under Philly Dallas under forty eight.
Speaker 2 (31:44):
Okay, and you like the Minnesota Green beyonder as well?
You like both those unders?
Speaker 9 (31:48):
Absolutely?
Speaker 4 (31:49):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (31:50):
Now one last thing. This is kind of impromptu. Typically
you are one to recommend maybe one teaser play and
I actually have one in mind, and I like and
I run it by you, and this would be our
last question. I actually like Arizona catching the points at
home and Pittsburgh catching the points. Your thoughts on both
(32:11):
of those, So those are both teased through the key
numbers of three, four, six, and seven on the dog side.
Speaker 9 (32:16):
Absolutely, I'll endorse it, but I'm home, Like I said,
I'm hold now for Pittsburgh plus three. I'm not going
to go through all the maps. Pittsburgh plus three is
better than teasing Pittsburgh at plus two and a half.
But I may never get the plus three and if
I don't get it right before that game gigs off,
Bernie Boum, I will get involved with Pittsburgh Teasers and
Arizona and the forty nine ers are excellent candidates, as
is I like the Atlanta Falcons and the Teaser as well.
Speaker 2 (32:39):
Oh and Kirk Cousins, Wow, you like to live dangerously.
Speaker 9 (32:45):
No one's going to score in that game either.
Speaker 2 (32:48):
This this Atlanta team, man is a twenty car pile up.
To me, They're just They're a mess, Just a mess. Fez,
great stuff. Tell the folks where they can find your
great work.
Speaker 9 (32:57):
Yeah, I'm at says ex Sports on Twitter slash X
and good luck to everyone with your wagers and appreciate
you having the f on here late on a Saturday night.
Speaker 2 (33:07):
All right, as we'll talk soon, buddy, Thanks a lot,
that is Thank you. Fessik five the only two time

Super Contest. All right, coming up, we are going to
have another rock. It's midnight hour. It's the callers who
make the mennight hour. From where I sit, we are
twenty minutes away from midnight literally twelve midnight, but from
(33:30):
where you sit perhaps twelve midnight literally but certainly figuratively,
which means the midnight hour. You get the last word.
Warm up your fingers eight seven, seven, nine, ninety six,
six three sixty nine, eight seven, seven, nine and nine
on Fox. We will have three topics tonight. One of
them it might be Shdor Sanders. I'll tell you the
(33:50):
anul I'm coming from for the best pregame show every weekend,
be sure to tune into Fox Sports Radios Countdown to
Kickoff presented by Bet MGM every Saturday day and Sunday morning.
We will count you down to all the biggest games
for three hours right up until kickoff for all the
best plays in the up to the second injury News
tended to Countdown to Kickoff presented by Bett MGM every
(34:10):
Saturday and Sunday morning right here on Fox Sports Radio
and the iHeart Radio app. Coming up to midnight hour,
We're nineteen minutes away. Get your fingers ready to dial
in eight seven, seven, nine, nine sixty six, three seven
six nine, eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. I'll
set up the three topics on the table in just
a second. I'm Bernie Faddle or Keney Lyon from Las
(34:32):
Vegas Fox Sports Radio Studios. Keep it locked or listening
to the Bernie Frattle Show on Fox Sports.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
Radio don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
All right, back of the Bernie Frattle Show, Fox spor Radio.
We are twelve minutes away from the midnight hour. See
from where I sit here in Las Vegas, the clock
will strike midnight in twelve minutes from where you sit,
perhaps the same, but literally and figuratively all of us.
For all of us, it's the midnight hour, which means you,
(35:17):
as the callers, get the last word. Eight seven, seven,
nine nine sixty six three six nine ninety nine one.
Fox really look forward to hearing from there. All right,
we have three topics. Number one, the lovable, irrefutable, indefatigable
(35:37):
Draymond Green, He's always there. Had an incident this week
with a fan. Now, let's set this up. There was
an eight second sequence in a game where he missed
a lap, got his offensive rebound, missed the tip shot,
got an offensive rebound, missed another tip shot, got an
offensive rebound, missed another tip shot, got an offensive rebound,
and then missed a one foot tip shot. Yes, you
(35:58):
heard that correct, over a period of eight seconds. So
some fans started calling him Angel Reese. Now, according to
Draymond's version, the first time it was funny. He kind
of laughed it off, but the fan apparently repeated it.
I wasn't there, so my account's third hand, but that's
been what's been reported. So Draymond saunters over, the fan
(36:20):
gets face to face with him, and the fan stands
up and I don't know if the guy was standing
on a chair what, but he's as big as Draymon.
So they were looking at each other kind of silly,
and the fan puts his hands out. Now here's here's
the situation. Apparently, when reached for comment later, what really triggered,
you know, what really cranked his tractor, as you would
(36:42):
say in terms of the perspective from Draymond, was hey, man,
I'm married, I got three kids, four kids, and one
of the way, no one's calling me a woman. That's
what I believe. Draymond's quote was, you ain't gonna call
me a woman. That was what got him. But as
you all know, as I've said it a thought sometimes
I was there for the mouse at the palace, and
it's just a matter of time for one of these
(37:03):
happens again. I really believe it. I'm not wishing it,
I'm not predicting it. I just feel that it's it's
gonna It was such spontaneous combustion that night in November nineteen,
two thousand and four, we just we just had the
what the twenty first anniversary of it? So who but
who's sad? Are you on the fan pays his ticket?
He wasn't completely stupid online. It's not something I would
(37:25):
have said. But are you more mad at the fan?
Or are you more mad at Draymond? Because again, Draymond
has a body of work, you know that. So topic
number one, I want to know how you feel about
that situation. Are you on Draymond's side or the fans side?
It's like a thing. I want to take you back
to Monday night football. All right, if you saw the game,
(37:49):
Dallas beat the Raiders like a rented mule. They went
up and down and up and down, and it was
just forget it. Dallas looks very good on offense and
they're improving on defense, and this just is not the
Raiders year. Okay. I remember those great Raiders teams of
the of the eighties, and frankly, I think this team
(38:09):
could beat those teams. But then again, most of those
guys are seventy five years old. The bottom line is this,
we saw something with two minutes and forty seconds to
go that I don't think i've ever seen. Somebody told
me this might have happened in the Kansas City game too,
but I don't remember it. Here's what we saw. And
(38:30):
by the way, for those those betters who had the
over of forty nine points, they're probably still chewing nails
about what happened. So Brian Schottenheimer, well, I think he's
done a pretty good job. He's won me over. He
seems to have the comportment and the wherewithal to be
an NFL head coach, and I'm curious to see what
(38:51):
he can do if he gets a couple of three years,
at least three years. Well, with two minutes and forty
seconds to go and Dallas leading thirty three to sixteen,
he took a knee. He had two minutes and forty
seconds to go, and he'd gotten a two minute warning,
yet took fort knees. Then the Raiders get the damn
ball back with about forty seconds and they take a knee.
(39:13):
They go into the victory formation without claiming victory. Maybe
they were saying we had enough from the Raiders perspective,
let's not get anybody hurt. I don't know. I can't read.
It's against a lot of practice psychology. We got a license,
and it's tough to read minds. But when Brian Schotenheimer
did that, I wasn't sure to read it at the time.
Was it a sign of disrespect to Pete Carroll or
(39:37):
which I don't think it was, like, yeah, you know
what we were done toying with you guys. We're just
gonna let you off the hook like a mercy rule.
Or was it a sign of respect? Okay, look the
games decide, let's get out of here. We worked together
in Seattle few years ago, so I know when you
know the Chiefs did the ring around the Rosie a
while back, and there have been people that have disrespected
the Raiders in the last couple of years, right, going
(39:58):
for two points when they're up fifty, that kind of Look.
The bottom line is I wanted to give me your thoughts. Okay,
do you think it was a sign of disrespect or
a sign of respect that Dallas took a knee with
two minutes and forty seconds to go, So got the
Draymond Green versus the fan who sat are you on?
And was it disrespect or respect when Dallas, you know,
(40:18):
just took a knee with two minutes and forty seconds
to go. Right, let's get this Shador Sanders? Is it
possi He's got a golden opportunity Sunday, a golden opportunity.
I'm not going to ask you for a prediction on
how you think he does, or you can give one
if you want, But what I really want to hear
from you is how do you view Deon Sanders now? Because,
believe it or not, somehow the young guy who drove
(40:40):
a Bentley or a Rolex got speeding tickets. It's all
going away tomorrow, Okay, all the silliness, the biffing, the interviews.
Is he seen in as an underdog now? As his
poor little fifth round guy who's coming in? Is he
an underdog? Or how do you see Shodor? He's really
a first round and he's gonna prove it tomorrow. How
(41:01):
do you view Shoodor going into his first start? Forget predictions?
So we got Draymon versus the fan were at the
Raiders and the Cowboys victory formation. Was it a sign
of disrespect or respect? And Shudor Sanders. Is he an
underdog now? Eight seven, seven nine nine six six three
sixty nine. Time for the bed that hour and the
Bernie Fraddle Show. That's right, you heard the man. Bernie
(41:30):
Fraddle Show keeps rolling right along. My name is Bernie
Fraddlewick Company. Line from the Fox Sports Radio studios here
in Las Vegas. Take you up to three and Pacific
six a m easterward. The phone lines are packed, so
without further ado, well, yep, it's time. It's been that hour,
(41:56):
So the three topics real quickly. Draymond Green, in an
eight second span last week, missed a lab four tip
shots and got four of his own rebounds, prompting a
fan in the front row to call him Angel Reith.
Draymond didn't like it, face to face, toe to toad.
Nothing happened, of course, But who's side are you?
Speaker 11 (42:16):
On?
Speaker 2 (42:17):
The fans? He's got a right to talk or Draymond?
Raymond's got a body work number two. Two minutes and
forty seconds to go Monday night, the Cowboys leading thirty
three to sixteen, they take a knee against the Raiders.
Was that a sign of respect to Pete Carroll? We
don't want to beat you up anymore? Or was it
a sign of disrespect? You know where I'm going with that.
(42:40):
And then the third thing, should Or Sanders? Shudor did
not look like an NFL starting quarterback for most of
his time last Sunday. He holds the ball too long,
he's not processing, he runs out of the back of
the pocket. Look, it's not been great for fifth rounders
as they start NFL games and make a debut. It's
happened fifty six times. He only went ninety. The numbers
are good. But how do you view shoot Or Sanders?
(43:04):
Is he morphed into an underdog, a simple fifth round guy.
The whole world's out to get him, all the conspiracy theorists.
Is that possible? Let's go to the phone lines, because
it's the callers that make the man out of our
so great Kyle here in Las Vegas, you are in
the leadoff spot tonight. You're Ricky Henderson and.
Speaker 12 (43:21):
That buddy, Oh my goodness, I'm I'm ecstatic. First off,
for I love this segment, Bernie. I'll wait every weekend
just to do this, just to do this, get the
talk sports with my main guy in Vegas holding it down.
So absolutely love it. First off, go Bears. Although that's
gonna be a joke of a game. That's out the way,
all right. Draymond can't be upset. Reason being is because
(43:46):
when those same fans are heckling Angel Reese calling her Draymond,
she doesn't turn around and get upset.
Speaker 2 (43:53):
Not what he did.
Speaker 12 (43:55):
So just taking a roll with it, buddy. It's guys
that are drinking. I'm not even gonna blame it on
the alcohol. The song says, don't blame it on the liquor,
So we ain't gonna blame it on that. The guy
got share with the mouse, He got reckless, he talked,
he said what he said, He stood on ground, he
stood on business. Even once Draymond came to his face.
Speaker 4 (44:14):
He called it.
Speaker 2 (44:15):
He said it to his face.
Speaker 12 (44:16):
So Raymond is a man. You can't be upset by
that because he didn't say it. And you know, like
the lady who yelled at Lebron James a few years ago,
and you have the security yelling, hey, watch your mouth, lady,
it wasn't something like that. The man said it straight
to your face, called you, Angel Reese. You can't be
upset with that.
Speaker 2 (44:34):
Number two extra points for the Jamie Fox but blame
it alcohol.
Speaker 12 (44:40):
Go ahead, keep going the second one, the victory formation,
with that two minutes left. Listen, we all know that
the unwritten mercy rules, right when when you see that
you're getting up there in points yards whatever, If you're
not about to break a game record or anything like that,
just call it a day, give it a ball.
Speaker 4 (45:00):
Uh.
Speaker 12 (45:00):
I mean, we've all played basketball football in the backyard
where somebody is just non stop winning and you can't
score a point and it's just bully ball. It's like
watching the guy plays street fighter and you just got
him in the corner doing the same move over and
over and over again. You know he's not gonna win,
so you give him a win.
Speaker 13 (45:17):
Right.
Speaker 2 (45:17):
So here's just a sign of respect because Bryan Schottenheimer.
Speaker 12 (45:21):
And it was more and good It was more in.
Speaker 2 (45:24):
Good faith, good faith. Okay, fair enough, and then.
Speaker 12 (45:29):
With your door listen, we know all like the kid.
I've said plenty of times on the show. The biggest
thing with Shador is are you coming in there with
JaMarcus Russell mindset? Are you coming in there with a
TV twelve mindset? If you come in there with a
TV twelve mindset, remember he was almost myster irrelevant, and
look look where he is now today. He went in
(45:52):
there with I'm gonna take this chance. I'm gonna take
my opportunities. I'm gonna make the best of him. Shardor
my guy buddy, stay in the pocket. Approach the game
and the mannerism that it should be approached in. Take
it serious. We don't need another We don't need another
James Winston out there. We already got one in the world.
We don't need another clown show playing quarterback. He's fun
(46:13):
to watch, is he Cam Newton?
Speaker 14 (46:16):
Is?
Speaker 12 (46:17):
I think he can be. He can be another Cam
Newton type of quarterback. But we gotta just focus on
one game at a time. Take today's game, take tomorrow's game,
and just go in that with TV twelve, not JaMarcus Russell,
Bernie as always, I love you, my brother, be safe
out here. You already know you do your thing on
(46:37):
the radio every weekend.
Speaker 2 (46:39):
I appreciate it, man, And by the way, not for nothing,
because Cam Newton deserves this. In his NFL debut, he
threw for four und and twenty two yards and two touchdowns,
completed sixty six percent of his passes, even ran for
a touchdown, just saying, so we're gonna be watching someday.
I'll keep it up in mind him in Massachusetts.
Speaker 13 (47:01):
Welcome in, Jim, Hey, what's going on? Bernie?
Speaker 4 (47:04):
Hey?
Speaker 13 (47:04):
The Draymond dream thing? When you mentioned that I was
driving the workoutse laugh and that was so funny. You
know what he should have done?
Speaker 15 (47:11):
You were, so, what do you mean saying, I'm angel reach.
Speaker 13 (47:15):
She's way better looking than me, right, And I would
have ran back up the court. I would have played
with it. But he, you know, he's just got issues,
you know, since probably yeah, yeah, and you just got
to let that go. You know, he doesn't know how
to let stuff roll off. That's the way I would
have dealt with it. But he's never been in that position.
(47:36):
So it's you know, he's in a quiet taste either
like him or you don't, you know, Uh, take him
the knee. Uh, I think that was okay. You know,
it's all part of the game and you know and
stuff like that. I can understand that to a degree.
I mean, you know, you got to let that ride.
As it is. That's an elite group to the NFL.
(47:58):
You know, there's only so many coaches and so many
players within that bora, so I think everybody liked that
that happened. Shakur Sanders. I think he's gonna have a
good game. I think he's gonna practice. He's gonna practice
all week with his starters. I mean, you gotta get rapport.
I mean, you know, I always have to get talked to.
But you can see it in the other ten guys
(48:20):
in the huddles, eyes and everything. You know, like where
would you? We got your back and we'll see what happened.
I think he's gonna be okay, just stay within the system,
don't get too crazy. Like you said, He's gonna read
a little bit faster more, but you got to play.
You can't have one without the other. So you know,
I'm pulling for him. Let's see what he does.
Speaker 2 (48:39):
Ernie fair enough. I think you thanks a lot. Jim
appreciate it. So both Coyl and Jim positive on you,
and I'm fine with that. I mean, it's again, it's
a don't tell me, show me situation, and I think
you'll see him hand the ball to Quinn Shawn Judkins
a lot. But they're gonna have to pass as well.
The Raiders are going to load the bay and we'll
(49:00):
see where it goes. Show us check that Stephen Kansasity,
how are you do you? Sorry about that? Man?
Speaker 15 (49:07):
Hey, Bernie, how's it going bout it? Enjoying enjoying the
weather and the racers out there.
Speaker 2 (49:13):
I'm actually enjoying a little rain here in Las Vegas. Yeah,
we don't. We don't get much of it, so it's
a nice change of pace. Yeah.
Speaker 14 (49:19):
I saw.
Speaker 15 (49:20):
I saw all the racers in their in their winter
gear tonight, so it must be must be cold out there. Well,
you know, I think Draymond should I thought it was
a pretty funny joke. I think he should take this
as instruction. I mean, Angel Reason is a good player.
Maybe he rebounded like Angel reas you know, you know
(49:41):
he wouldn't. He shouldn't take it.
Speaker 2 (49:44):
So well, look, it's one of those silly things. I
prefaced it by saying, look, I was at the mouice
at the Palace. We were doing a ready remote in
November nineteen, two thousand and four. I swear to God,
one of these days, it just takes the smallest spontane
his combustion, and and anytime someone in front had that
(50:05):
guy been liquored up and said, I, what the hell
you know this guy in Detroit named John Green became
a household name because you threw an empty cup. People
thought it was a full cup of beer. And I
have to land on ron our Test, who was laying
across the scores table. So these things can come out
of nowhere.
Speaker 15 (50:21):
I like I like old Shadu Sanders too.
Speaker 2 (50:24):
I think it.
Speaker 15 (50:27):
I I think he. I think he kind of got
off on the wrong clip, and there's a chance I'm rooting.
I'm rooting for him tomorrow. I know a lot of
people may may not be, but I think he wanted
he wanted to pull a Eli Manning and wanted to
kind of big time all the NFL franchises, and they
decided to freeze him out. And I think he's gonna
(50:47):
do quite quite well tomorrow. I'm not a fan of
the the Raiders or the Cowboys, so I certainly hope
he pounds the Raiders, uh, the Raiders tomorrow. If I
was the Boys in that ball game, I would have
pored on the port it on the Raiders for a
tiebreaker purposes. I don't think I mean Schottenheimer and Pete
(51:08):
Carroll kind of NFL lifers, so they were gonna they
were gonna go easy on each other, and I had
a I had a wild card topic too.
Speaker 2 (51:16):
I wanted to.
Speaker 15 (51:16):
Applaud the Hunt family for trashing the NFL halftime so
we gotta we got a uh, the first sign of
cracks and the NFL armor about their halftime show. So
maybe they can maybe they can replace it with something better,
or people will watch watch the other halftime show. So
you have a good week.
Speaker 2 (51:37):
But thanks, thanks Steve. By the way, three for three, Uh, Kyle,
Jim and Steve all rooting for I think a lot
of people are. I think in the last three months
he's more from this player of privilege, over hyped product
of his dad. Uh, who made a lot of missteps
in the last three months, has perceived someone's kind of
put his head down, got in line, and he's gonna
(52:00):
have a chance to start and as an NFL quarterback Sunday.
And yes he's a fifth rounder, but let's see what
he does. Listen, Uh, I just told you what Cam
Newton did. We saw with Baker mayfielder. I've seen lots
of guys have good debuts. I'm not sure how he's
gonna do. I'm not I think Cleveland's gonna win. But
that's why I'm watching. I want to see what happens.
(52:22):
Mike in Houston, Welcome into the Bernie Friddle Show.
Speaker 12 (52:25):
What's going on?
Speaker 2 (52:25):
Bernie? All right, sir, I'm gonna good.
Speaker 12 (52:28):
First thing, Traymond, let me tell you something my dad
told me a long time ago. He said, Finn, it's
not what they called you. What your answer to?
Speaker 2 (52:35):
Very nice? Very nice?
Speaker 12 (52:37):
And this is what hip crew by Draymond. I've watched
this man for years, all other men, the p where
be were, every feminis word that he can use, the rockety,
and then all of a sudden, you get offended because
a fan called you angel rees because you missed five
straight lay up, and you get in your feelings because
a man called you a player who actually actually a
(53:00):
double double, so that would be a compliment. You're you're
a triple fingle to after the double double, so she
looks better than you, and she actually after the double double.
So take it at the temperament. And what burns me, Bernie.
What I get with with these guys, man, my sirs,
they like to say, is I'm married, i got kids,
I'm a grown man. If you're really a grown man.
(53:21):
You have to reminder that you're a grown man. To
be a grown man.
Speaker 2 (53:25):
I gotta tell you, but before you get your second
point and you're gonna stand here here, don't go anywhere.
That was very nice. That's what you call frame it
hanging on the wall and the loop next to the
Mona Lisa because a lot of good pragmatic common sense
in there.
Speaker 12 (53:39):
Okay, you got the Flora pal oh appreciate preci hate it.
Speaker 4 (53:43):
Uh.
Speaker 12 (53:43):
With the Cowboys, I think it was a thing with
scheidenheim Er knowing tee terror. I think with a friendly
gesture to take the knee. I'm a Cowboy fan. Uh,
probably in the session because I still I just believe
it that Jerry Jones me maker, we're not gonna win
the super Bowl. But I think that was just a
friendly Justine. I understand why the Raiders new or you
need trying to get some more points, but I think
(54:05):
it's friendly justice. I thought that the same thing if
that was me. But give a take with the Doer
Sanders people, and honestly, Burnie outous with everybody who gets drafted.
I hope that the guys are all successful. Them guys
are doing something that most kids dreaming they could never
ever do. And I think, like you said, once he
realized and he got there that the NFL doesn't cowtown
(54:27):
a bow down the anyone. They will put you in line.
And I will hope this experience teach him, Hey, you're
not playing for your dad like you did in middle school,
high school, in college. You actually have to compete for
a position and we get the opportunity, make the best
of it. And you can't lead the NFL a quarterback
like you're a DBD all wide receiver. You have to
be a leader. So I hope this homele experience actually
(54:49):
helps propel him into being the best for he actually compete.
That's my take. Let us show me my first time
calling in.
Speaker 2 (54:55):
Oh, hey, I was about that, Mike. I don't believe
I got a good memory. Don't believe it hurt from
you before. But let me leave you with this stuff.
Don't be a stranger. That was outstanding, really appreciated, Mike.
It was Mike in Houston. Four great calls starts Joe,
Mike is the first timer, really really strong stuff. I'm
really liking this tonight. I like it every Saturday night.
(55:16):
Sparks Weed my man two weeks in a row to
what do we owe this pleasure?
Speaker 11 (55:21):
Well, I just felt like missing you for a week.
I needed to cement the experience this week. It's been terrific.
I hope the lunchibles were good.
Speaker 4 (55:30):
Unless you're want.
Speaker 2 (55:32):
To write something better, that's sure. My wife's a good cook.
She's a damn good cook.
Speaker 11 (55:35):
Yeah, go ahead, you said so. So Draymond, the injurly
thing is funny.
Speaker 4 (55:40):
It just is.
Speaker 11 (55:41):
I mean, he got so many me bounds that he
should trademark that and seem you can take it away
from her.
Speaker 2 (55:47):
So but okay, So whose side of you are on?
The fan? Who was a little over the top? But again, Draymond,
he's got a body of work, man. I mean he
gets technicals during one playoffs? Go ahead, well, I.
Speaker 11 (56:00):
Mean he is he is who he is and friend smart.
Speaker 2 (56:04):
He's smart.
Speaker 11 (56:04):
This is his brand and he's and he's leaning into it.
So he's got that Christmas commercial where you know, he
gets denied by Santa.
Speaker 3 (56:13):
Yeah that's you know.
Speaker 11 (56:16):
I don't know whose side I'm on. I think it
makes great theater. You know, again, Draymond is great at
rilling people up. I mean, grow up, dude. He's got
issues this, that and the other. But at the end
of the day, he is who he is and until
he gets until he gets spanked hard enough, and he's
never going to change.
Speaker 2 (56:34):
Fair enough. Let's go to topic too spot all right.
Speaker 11 (56:38):
I think I don't I don't really care if it
was a gesture of kindness or a gesture of offense.
Speaker 10 (56:46):
I believe that.
Speaker 12 (56:47):
I believe.
Speaker 11 (56:47):
Yeah, I believe that it was disservice to the fans.
They came to watch a game. All these millionaires are
out there to play their hardest every single play, and
it's a man's game, and uh, you know, I think
that everybody needs to do their best for for all
sixty minutes of the game. I can understand the you
(57:08):
know what, that it would be kind of the mercy rule.
But again, I think I think the fans lost out.
What if there's a really good play you got, you
got another touchdown maybe as the Raiders or the Cowboys
really stomped you, and I think the fans, the fans
lost a little bit out of that.
Speaker 2 (57:26):
Yeah, I was I didn't like it. I'm gonna be honest.
If you want to run guide plays into the tackle
with no intention of scoring, fine, we get all that,
but when you take a knee in a national football
game with two minutes and forty seconds to go, I
feel you're sending even if it's a subliminal message, dude,
we feel sorry for you. We'll stop. Yeah, okay, Mercy,
Yeah your thoughts, Sanders, Well, even if.
Speaker 11 (57:49):
It is the Raiders, you still should respect them anyway, now,
she door Sanders. I hope he does well, I really do. Uh,
it'd be like you said, it'd be a great story again.
He's he's playing the Raiders this time. Hopefully they don't
they don't get so so over the top with them
that they kneel against them also next week. But yeah,
(58:11):
Shadur has this this one chance, and it's gonna be Hey,
it was against the Raiders, you know, and he's gonna
have to be He's gonna have to be continuously better
in order to to rely capture the ring. But I
think he's got a really good shot, and I would
I would hope that that that he takes it. So anyway,
and now you need to ask me the usual question.
Speaker 2 (58:32):
Yeah, what are you drinking tonight?
Speaker 11 (58:34):
I am drinking Elision by frost Ale. It's a it's
a heavy winner Ale, but I'm heavy too, so that's
kind of the way it goes.
Speaker 2 (58:43):
Well. That sounds outstanding, Spox, so good stuff. We've covered
all the bases and appreciate you checking in. Alan Is St. Louis,
Greg and Dallas, Bryce in Texas, Martin and Orange, California.
I'm so glad you called in. Please sit tight. I
will get to all of you. Want to hear what
you got to say. We are off and running on
the midnight hour. I'm Bernie Frattle, come to your life

Speaker 2 (59:25):
All right, we are back at the Bernie Frattle Show.
The midnight hour is rocking and rolling. Alan, Greg, Bryce,
Martin and Nick. We're gonna take you in that order.
Let's keep the ball rolling. Alan and Saint Louis. Welcome
back in, Alan. How are you?
Speaker 10 (59:38):
Good morning, Bernie. There's nothing like lead love with what
the reason the vandellas.
Speaker 2 (59:42):
I love it that's right.
Speaker 10 (59:44):
B Yeah, I'm a DJ.
Speaker 2 (59:46):
So that's that's I love Hotown. That's all I play.
I'm from Detroit. It's timeless music and it's feel good music.
You got the floor.
Speaker 10 (59:53):
Allen Motown is great, you know. First of Drey mind,
this is one time I did have a problem that
the fan didn't get ejected.
Speaker 2 (01:00:03):
Did he? I? You know, you got me there and
I can look into that. I'll look into it, Alan,
go ahead.
Speaker 10 (01:00:10):
I don't think he did. And if you, let's face it,
we've seen Draymond enough to know when he's really hot
and when he out of control. He came up. Now,
it may have been bad judgment to go to a
fan's face, you know, because sometimes, like you said earlier,
you know, things can happen. But they talked. The guy
(01:00:31):
threw his hands out and they either had kind of
a laugh if you noticed that.
Speaker 2 (01:00:36):
So here's the thing. Here's the thing, Alan, stay right there,
and you know he was not ejected. He was given
a warning. But I covered the mount of the palace
around our test was laying all by his once him
on the scores table. Then all of a sudden, the
empty cup comes out of nowhere and the rest is history. Yeah,
so you're continue on he's spontaneous combustion aspect of this
(01:00:57):
one of these days, continue on, Alan, Yeah.
Speaker 10 (01:01:00):
And that's the only thing, you know, you never know
what's gonna happen. But even at the press conference, Draymond
mentioned that he had they have they didn't have words,
they had an exchange and if that makes sense, and
he even laughed at the press conference, you know, so
he wasn't the normal Draymond that we've seen when he
(01:01:20):
when he gets upset, because that normal. And you notice
nobody really grabbed Draymond when he went out there after
they started talking. So this is one time I'm glad
didn't anything happen. But like you said, it's just bad
judgment to go on a fans face, whether you joke
or not. Now, as far as the kneels your served,
you know, I don't have a problem with it, Joe.
(01:01:42):
I understand the fans wanted to see, let's face it,
in the last two minutes of a blowout game. I mean,
how much excitement are you going to see? How many
people were left there? He even left in the stadium,
So you know, out a problem with it. I look
back and even though it could be anybody. I look
back at what happened to Jaden Daniels with you know,
with the tap game, with the game being out of
(01:02:05):
hand fair enough, it doesn't have to be a story.
It could be anybody. So and it's facing you. Either
coach had to have a problem with it. I don't
think the players had a problem with it. You know,
if if I'm upset about what happened in the two
last two minutes of a Blowog game as a fan,
you know, that may be me problem out of their problem.
Speaker 2 (01:02:26):
Okay, that continue on, don't you know?
Speaker 10 (01:02:30):
But like I say that, that's that's that's the word.
We all have opinions that they're great. As far as
the door is concerned. Of course, I'm pulling for him
that that's facing now it's the first game. But you know,
he doesn't have an excuses this time. You know, he
he's worked with them all week. It's his cadence and everything. Now,
I don't expect him to go out there and do
(01:02:52):
a Cam Newton. But one thing Shador has in as favor,
his teammates like him. And from all reports, his teammates
like him and they want to play for him. So
I think that may you know, mentally, that may work
out of his favor. It doesn't make any difference when
I think what you know, the top shows or the
(01:03:12):
weak thing, you know, go out there, play field team
and let the chips fall where they may. So I
hope he does well. But you know, I think the
biggest thing I think is if to Door's favor, his
dad has been quiet about this whole situation, and I
think that helps him because he doesn't have any outside distractions.
I'm pulling for him. I hope he plays well. And
(01:03:35):
let's face it, I'd rather have him play the Raiders
defense than play the Texas defense. That's going to help
him all. So take care of Bertie.
Speaker 2 (01:03:42):
Fair enough, all right, good good stuff. And just to
set the record straight on the Draymond thing, it's my understanding.
He told a reporter what triggered him was. He said, Look,
he called me injuries. He said, I got four kids
in one on the way. You're not going to call
me a woman. But I think Alan's statements were met
and accurate. So for the most part, Onward and Upward
(01:04:03):
both were issued a warning. Greg and Dallas walking into
the Bernie Frownshew are you how's it.
Speaker 4 (01:04:08):
Going, man? Okay? Well, Draymond, I think was very entertaining.
I mean, the guy just pointed out a fact. I mean,
what comps are there other than Angel Reese when he
comes to that segment that it just it was what
it was.
Speaker 16 (01:04:28):
And there are.
Speaker 4 (01:04:29):
No no NBA comps to that that I can remember,
other than maybe most of Mullan back in the seventies
and eighties or whatever. But anyway, I think for him
to take it that step farther that he was attacking
his manhood or whatever. Come on, man, it was just
it was it was okay, it's all right with was
(01:04:52):
you know, we'll.
Speaker 2 (01:04:56):
And then the Raiders to the Cowboys took a knee
with two minutes and forty seconds to go. At first,
I thought it was a sign of disrespect, but I
think the callers have kind of been more measured. Your
thoughts on.
Speaker 4 (01:05:05):
That, Yeah, you know, I'm Dallas, Dallas guy, I'm sixty
six years old, have been watching them for sixty years.
The one thing i'ven't heard here is that the Cowboys
and Raiders scrimmage each other every training camp. It's a
to me, that's a very important consideration because I thought
(01:05:26):
it was a sign of respect. I've never seen them
try to disrespect anybody, but Buddy Ryan was still around
maybe game on, but other than that, no, I think
that's a nothing fair.
Speaker 2 (01:05:40):
Enough, fair enough. That's why we do this segment to
get things straight. And then finally Shador on Sunday, your thoughts.
Speaker 4 (01:05:48):
I'm rooting for him. I'm afraid he's left out on
the island. He's got no real running game. He's going
to have the Jokuho's going to be quadruple teams, is
going to have Crosby just licking his lips before Thanksgiving.
We'll see as well as he can step up in
the pocket and not move back in the pocket, which.
Speaker 2 (01:06:10):
That's a big issue. That's an issue.
Speaker 4 (01:06:12):
I think he'll be okay. But if they can't keep
it to a field goal or two field goals, they
can win breakout game. Well, you know that's what they say.
We'll just play the game and see how it goes.
Speaker 2 (01:06:27):
Thanks a lot. I appreciate it, man, I do think
Cleveland's gonna win. There's a big mismatch on the offensive
defensive lines for Cleveland. Quin Shawn Zudcoms can be okay
and Gino likes to throw the ball to the other team.
The issue for Shador don't hold the ball too long.
Process what you see and you know, maneuver in the pocket,
don't drift backward. It's easy for me to say, Bryce
(01:06:48):
in Texas, welcome in, Hi, Bryce. Oh, it's my going,
Bernie good Man, thanks.
Speaker 17 (01:06:55):
Good so real quick start off with doubt cowboys kneeling.
I thought it was weird when I first saw it too,
And then right after app and they started talking about
the Marshawn Neeland guy who you know, took his life.
I'm wondering if there was some sort of communication of like, hey,
can we like hay respect to this dude somehow, because
(01:07:17):
afterwards Hee Carolyn Schottenheimer had like a really cordial painshaking something.
Speaker 2 (01:07:24):
They worked together in Seattle. You know that's did they
work together in Seattle back in the.
Speaker 12 (01:07:28):
Day, right right?
Speaker 17 (01:07:30):
And I know Schottenheimer is a big player coach. Yeah,
I don't know if I have anything to do with
that or not. Just get my guys out of there,
let's go home.
Speaker 2 (01:07:38):
That is probably Yet the other caller brought up a
great point about Jayden Daniels. Maybe it was our let's
just get out of here. I just hadn't seen it
with two minutes and forty seconds ago. So, uh, you
have any thoughts on Draymond and the fan.
Speaker 17 (01:07:52):
I think if you look up the word gas flight
in the dictionary, Draymond Green state that's right there. Because
every time this dude gets in trouble, you know, he's
the guy that's like, I'm not the angry black person
while he's screaming at you and then wants to blame
you for your perception of who he is. I think
he I think this is just who he is. As
(01:08:15):
far as the fan goes. He didn't say anything that
you can't say, like he's not cussing the guy out
he's got cussing him out or making threats to him.
I don't see anything wrong with what the fan did.
I think that Draymond just when he gets frustrated, he
gat bites people.
Speaker 2 (01:08:32):
All right, fair enough, Shodoor Sanders. He's scarped into a
bit of an underdog when when you consider the the
you know, the sort of the overriding opinion heading into
the game standing and I'm glad to see people rooting
for him. Go ahead, your thoughts well.
Speaker 17 (01:08:48):
I'm a Bronze fan and we had to talk months
ago when he got drafted. I said, you know, if
he ever gets to play, I think the true measure
is if he could stay on the field for ten games,
if he could stay on the building Pete for ten games,
I think it's a success. I'm worried that we're going
to see a crime scene in this game when Max
Probby Max Crosby gets a hold of him. I don't
(01:09:11):
know if he makes it through the game.
Speaker 2 (01:09:12):
So I think you know, I've been highly critical bryce
of shod Or even in Colorado, but I think he's tough.
He got to hit more than Rocky ball ball at Colorado.
I do think he's a competitor. But I'm not saying
you're wrong. And I don't think Max Krosby is a
dirty player. But St. Gohadan finished your point. I didn't
want to step on your point. I just wanted to
(01:09:32):
get that on the record that I do think Shudor
is tough.
Speaker 17 (01:09:36):
No, I do too, I just I mean, I've heard
the other callers say step up into the pocket. There's
no pocket for him to step up into, Like I don't.
I feel like he's going to be a sitting duck.
I think that if he can, you know, I think
the fans he's going to draw up like a lot
of screenplays or not to keep it safe for him.
But other than that, like if he could stay alive
on the field and not turn the ball over, that
(01:09:57):
to me is a success for the kid.
Speaker 2 (01:09:59):
I believe you. Well, all right, thanks a lot that, Bryce.
And there are things they can do Max protect three
step drops. Uh you know, you know, short routes. There
are things they can do. He's still got to be
showing ability to process and not hold the ball. Martin
in Orange, California, Welcome back in Martin.
Speaker 18 (01:10:18):
How are you, hey, Bernie? How's it going tonight?
Speaker 2 (01:10:21):
Good man?
Speaker 19 (01:10:23):
Hey sho door.
Speaker 18 (01:10:26):
I'm not a I'm not a shoud Dore fan, But
what I want him to do is I want him
to do well. The NFL needs, you know, quarterback like that,
who has the lineage, who has the name. Remember he
had the number one selling jersey the first week of
the NFL week, So I wish him the best. Let's
not hold onto the ball so long, Let's make our
(01:10:49):
reads and let's try to get a wh.
Speaker 2 (01:10:53):
Yeah, that'd be the story. That's what That's what I
said my opening commentary. The real story would be for
him to come out light it up a little bit.
I mean, if he fails, so yeah, you know, that's
just that just joins the other stories from the Naked City.
That's the story.
Speaker 8 (01:11:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 18 (01:11:08):
Yeah, if he fails, everyone can say, hey, I told you,
I told you. The better story is him succeeding.
Speaker 2 (01:11:15):
Right, it's game, Yeah, go ahead taking the knee.
Speaker 18 (01:11:22):
You know, it's just a sign of like, and I
completely forgot about the passing, And if that's why they
did it, I understand, you know, it's but if that
was the case, maybe they shouldn't have played the game
at all because those last two minutes. I know it's like, hey,
the game's in hand, but there are like third stringers
who do put their time out there, and that would
(01:11:43):
be nice for them to get some type of play.
Speaker 12 (01:11:46):
But I can't be mad at it.
Speaker 16 (01:11:47):
If I was a fan at.
Speaker 18 (01:11:48):
The game, I haven't understanding of what was going on,
and I'd get it. Dreamond this guy is one of
my favorite players. Burning Up called in the past and
talked about him, and it's like nothing he does really
bug me. I know how he gets but it's like
it's much time. I'm at the Laker game, Bernie, and
(01:12:09):
this guy's here. I'm gonna serenade him, Bernie.
Speaker 16 (01:12:12):
I'm gonna get I'm gonna hit him with this one.
Speaker 18 (01:12:14):
Bernie. I'm gonna be like girl, you'll be the old
woman shoo.
Speaker 12 (01:12:22):
And then I want to see if he's gonna I
love you much, kids, get all the way with the
godfo you girls, and RISK want to say.
Speaker 18 (01:12:30):
I'm not your guys.
Speaker 12 (01:12:32):
I'm sorry, Bernie, thank you for letting me up that
little fucking moment. I love you, Bye bye it.
Speaker 2 (01:12:38):
So why would do the midnight hour folks? It's a
It's a beautiful thing because it's unscripted, it's extemporaneous, and
it's entertaining. Are you not entertaining? Nick from Berkeley? You
are up next, my friend.
Speaker 16 (01:12:52):
Welcome in, Hey, Bernie, I'm very entertained, man.
Speaker 14 (01:12:56):
I love the stories.
Speaker 20 (01:12:57):
Hey, check it out. So I'm a Diehardnner fan and
Warrior fan. And let me tell you something, I'm a
Giant Giants fan too. In one game in June of
eighty eight, going way back, I was heckling Mike.
Speaker 16 (01:13:07):
Marshall in right field. He starts patting his glove and
I'm like, oh you hear me, you rabbit, and I'm
just all over just ripping him like this, shredding him.
So he looked at me and as he runs in
that there was a third out, I.
Speaker 14 (01:13:19):
Kid you not.
Speaker 16 (01:13:20):
This man gets up and points his bat to right field,
and my boy looks at me. He says, you could
never talk smack if he hits a home run right here,
and it was the air was kind of still. The
twin night doubleheader against the Dodgers, Marshall smokes one to
right field. The ball is going to leave the park
and the Giants godly wins coming to last second and
(01:13:42):
push it down and hits the base of the fence
and he could have leg got a tripple, but he
cruises in the second looking at me and I just
said and so when he came out.
Speaker 14 (01:13:49):
To the right field, I was like, I'm not worthy.
Speaker 16 (01:13:51):
I just gave him the game and his promps. But
you know, Draymond man, have no respect for him.
Speaker 4 (01:13:55):
Man.
Speaker 16 (01:13:56):
He caught the Warriors the title. He punched the college
kid out of Delia in Michigan because he said because
the college kids said something to him.
Speaker 17 (01:14:02):
Like what is wrong with you?
Speaker 2 (01:14:03):
Bro?
Speaker 16 (01:14:04):
You're gonna walk up on a fan like like like
like you're Bruce Lee or something.
Speaker 18 (01:14:07):
Bro.
Speaker 16 (01:14:08):
You're getting paid millions of dollars to play a game. Bro,
check yourself. You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 12 (01:14:13):
You're a grown man.
Speaker 16 (01:14:15):
What happened to the example to your kids? You were
talking about? In all this, Draymond is just selfish and
he really needs to get some help and control his
emotions because you know, you wouldn't want that to blow
up in and get him suspended or get him kicked
out in the league.
Speaker 2 (01:14:26):
Man, real quickly, nick, I love the story that Mike
Marshall story had to been what around nineteen eighty eight
was Is that fair? About what that?
Speaker 12 (01:14:36):
What was?
Speaker 16 (01:14:37):
Yes, dude, in June of eighty eight, like the middle
of June. You can check it out in the San
Francisco papers, And it was mayhem because the first game
went like fourteen innings, went to pass like twelve thirty.
The second game started about twelve forty five and fights
started breaking out about in the sixth inning of the
second game, around two am. And this is before they
(01:14:57):
had the liquor law and you could buy alcohol away
till like six.
Speaker 18 (01:15:01):
In the mornings.
Speaker 2 (01:15:02):
Basically, Well, I went to the old candlestick many times
my friend and you had to be hooked up to
a blender to get through that night. It was cold, Nick,
I wish I had more time. Don't be a stranger.
I want to hear from you again. I appreciate it.
The Men That Hour continue, will be wrapping it up.
Ryan in Minnesota will be next. Excellent, really interesting stuff tonight,
(01:15:24):
including a lot of opinions. I was wrying. I'll wrap
it up my thoughts coming up, ruyand you're next. I'm
Bernie Fradderwick coming to line from Las Vegas. Fox Sports
Radio Studios. Keep it locked. You're listening to the Bernie
Fradle Show.
Speaker 1 (01:15:36):
You don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (01:15:43):
All right, We're back on the Bernie Fraddle Show. Fox
Sports Radio. Wrap it up on the Menn Hour. We
go out to the great state of Minnesota. Minnesota. Nice.
We wrap it up with Ryan in Minnesota. Ryan, you
got the last word tonight on the Men That Hour.
Thanks for your patience.
Speaker 14 (01:16:00):
Yea, Minneapolis, I'm here. My parents would bevery gated community,
just loving it. I'm a little excited about the game tomorrow.
But I'll talk about your subjects if you want. And
first of all, go ahead, well go ahead.
Speaker 2 (01:16:17):
If you got another rant, that's fine too, But to
go ahead with the subjects, okay, I'll go to the subjects.
Speaker 14 (01:16:21):
So I would say about your I'm rooting for him
because everyone's root against him. That's just my thing. Everyone
wants the guy to fail. I want him to win.
Second thing. Kneel it down, man, the game's going on.
Speaker 15 (01:16:34):
You won the game.
Speaker 14 (01:16:36):
Let them let them lose gracefully.
Speaker 2 (01:16:37):
We'll win gracefully. Fair enough.
Speaker 14 (01:16:41):
As far as as far as Raymond goes, I've been
in the crowd. I used to say, big dog, big dog.
Leadon Robinson. I was right behind the bench right before
I was.
Speaker 2 (01:16:50):
I was annoying.
Speaker 14 (01:16:51):
I was annoying. Uh K, you know KG more than
more than the big dog anyway.
Speaker 2 (01:16:57):
So you were. So you were at a Timberwolves game
and KG he felt he wasn't getting their respect because
you were big dog Glenn Robinson from Purdue, and KG
took advent, took an umbrage to that.
Speaker 14 (01:17:09):
He didn't love it. I can say that I can
see he had a little.
Speaker 2 (01:17:13):
You. You or you were not you were not rude
in any way.
Speaker 14 (01:17:16):
We had a few drinks at that night. But here's
the thing I want to say about my quarterback, JJ McCarthy.
Speaker 12 (01:17:22):
I see a little bit of magic.
Speaker 14 (01:17:24):
Okay. I know he's had a lot of failure and
a lot of bad pros and a lot of drama,
and I'm just gonna say it right now. I believe
in the kid, and I think we've got to give
him a chance, and even if it loses all season,
I want to roll with him. We've never developed a
quarterback here, We've always had rentals. This is our own product.
Speaker 13 (01:17:44):
We're going to go through it.
Speaker 14 (01:17:45):
Hopefully this season is the season, and I have a
belief that he might just show a little magic tomorrow.
That's all I gotta say.
Speaker 2 (01:17:52):
Bernie, all right, that's excellent, appreciate it. And from what
I know in my connection to Michigan football, I think
in time JJ McCarthy is going to be fine. I
said the same thing about Bryce Young three years ago.
You either got it, you don't take some guys longer
in the situations. I think a lot of Kevin O'Connell.
I think the problem, the challenge is the Vikings, who
(01:18:12):
are ready to win now and JJ McCarthy might not
be able to make that leap when you see what
Sam Donald is doing in Seattle, maybe Michigan, or check
that Minnesota, the Minnesota faithful our second guessing a little bit.
Might we have been better off to hang in there
with Sam Donald and run him for another year or
(01:18:34):
two while JJ McCarthy was developed. Now on this day
and age of Terrasey, right, they're bringing a guy and
start up. Steve Young sat around for five years before
you ever started in the NFL. I know it's a
different era. Same with Aaron Rodgers. Jordan Love just did
the same thing in Green Bay. Didn't start right away.
Be that as it may. They made their decision. But
interesting observations on JJ McCarthy there. Ryan and I share
(01:18:59):
a lot of the sentiments, you know, but patience is
a kind of a foregone commodity in our society. We're
in a fast food society. And it was very refreshing
to see that people are in fact rooting for Shador
Sanders because I'll tell you why. I think the guy
has morphed into an underdog. You go back three months,
(01:19:19):
four months, he was the ultimate overdog. Now he's become
sort of this hey kind of likable underdog. People are
going to be rooting for him because they were prevailing perceptions.
That says Sanders may not have been treated fairly. Maybe
if the NFL scounce should have give and at least
his second round grade. I never thought he was a
first round guy, and I broke down why and nerd fashion,
(01:19:41):
but maybe a second round guy. And if they wanted
to send a draft day message about humility, I think
that's stupid. If that really happened. I don't think the
Browns coaching staff has invested a hell of a lot
of time of energy in him because I don't think
they wanted him. I think the owner wanted him. So
you put aside all the debate about first team reps
in practice and whether Sanders should have gotten more, whether
(01:20:03):
he should have been elevated from second during the third strength,
you get all the Michigan goths that surrounded him. Okay,
at the end of the day, he's starting Sunday in
the National Football League. So look, he threw thirty seven
touchdowns in four thousand yards of Colorado, completed seventy four
percent of his passes. I didn't see that one superpower
(01:20:25):
that you want in a first round draft choice. But look,
don't tell me, show me he's got a golden, golden opportunity.

thank the callers that tonight was exceptional. We yuck it up,
we have little fun. You never know where it's gonna go.
Some really thoughtful calls, some first time callers, and I
(01:21:07):
just think the variant of opinion, and I give it
to the callers. I think I overrated the Raiders, the
Cowboys taking a knee, I do, And I think I
underrated how many people are really rooting for Shure Centers
all good and Draymond good stuff there as well. Coming up,
Mark Medina, Medina Magics, talk some NBA. It's the Bernie
Fraddle Show on Fox. That's right, you heard the man.
(01:21:31):
Bernie Fraddle Show keeps rolling right along. My name is
Bernie Fraddle. We are Kenedy lyon from the Fox Sports
Radio studios here in Las Vegas. Will take up to
three in Pacific, six am Eastern. We've covered a lot tonight,
but we got a lot more to get to and
with the NBA season underway, no better guy to go
to than our guy. Three simple words. It's that time,
(01:21:55):
Mark Medina, Medina Magic, our Fox Sports Radio NBA grew Mark.
I know there's always a bounce in your step during
NBA Cup season? Is it still? Are you still fired
up about the NBA Cup?
Speaker 12 (01:22:12):
Now?
Speaker 3 (01:22:12):
I'm more fired about up with belt Lebron James's return.
It's probably the second most anticipated return behind you know,
your return to the studio this tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:22:22):
Thanks, thanks a lot. I appreciate that. I thought I
thought I was like at least number seven behind the
mcribs sandwich returning to McDonald's or something.
Speaker 3 (01:22:30):
But anyway, no, no, clearly the code of returns are yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:22:34):
You got hey, By the way, we are going to
get to that. And you wrote a really good article
this week, and I would just say this before I do.
I didn't get a chance to talk to you last week,
and I would have certainly wanted to about the situation
regarding Nico Harrison going bye bye and what triggered it
and why didn't they wait till the end of the season.
(01:22:54):
I know, no Mark Cuban sort of back in power,
and there's even rumors are going to try Anthony Davis,
and Markhuman denies that. So take all that where you
want to go with it. Of course, I'm referring to
the article you had in the EES Sports News, So
take that where you want to take it, because there's
a lot of meat on the bone there.
Speaker 4 (01:23:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:23:13):
I think the simple answer is, you know, they made
Nico Harrison the fall guy because you know, not just
the Luka Dots trade clearly not working out in their favor,
but they got off to a rough start, and you know,
Kyrie Irving being out with the ACL injury was expected,
but it was thought that Anthony Davis would be more available,
(01:23:34):
Cooper Flag wouldn't have as many up and down rookie
adversity moments, and Klay Thompson would adjust better to his
role now that he's further removed from his injuries, Drew
Russ would be a better fit. So I think you know,
no one should cry river for Nico Harrison. He made
the worst trade in NBA history. It's not it's it's
(01:23:55):
bad enough that you traded a franchise player with Luca Dodgers,
but not getting enough of a haul back in return.
That's number one, but number two. It also makes him
the convenient fall guy. It camouflageses the reality that Patrick
Dumont rubber stamps the steal and was on the record
saying that a Nico we trust and so in slight
(01:24:18):
slight fairness to Nico, they didn't have the full roster
entering the season to really see what this would look like.
But I think you could also counteract, well, this is
what happens when you trade Luka Docch for a player
that has a lot of injuries on his resume and
Anthony Davis and you know, falling into getting Cooper Flag
(01:24:40):
and the number one pick isn't a strategy that was luck.
So you know, again, Nico has a resume, he put
together a good roster to get them to the finals
in twenty twenty four, but you know that blotch of
trade Luka doocch. I wouldn't say it for a sack
of marbles, but pretty close to it. You can't escape him.
Speaker 2 (01:25:02):
Thought of Mark Medena or Fox Sports Radio and be
a gurued reader for essentially sports. Yeah, we'll move on
from that. There's no question he's got a lot of baggage.
It just felt like the fans were chaining fire nicos,
so they just did it. I would have thought they
would have at least given him a season. But let's
move on because the Lakers season took an interesting turn.
(01:25:22):
And I know it was all smiles this week against Utah,
and I was wrong on two counts. One. I didn't
think he'd be back till December. First, he came back
twelve days earlier than that. But I gotta tell you,
you know, let's get beneath the surface here and get
a little bit into the weeds. Let's say this is sustainable,
(01:25:42):
this new Lebron man. I'm going to get twelve assists
a game. I don't need to be on ball. You've
got him Lebron, Luca and Austin Reeves on the floor.
That is not a good defensive team that should have
any designs on making a run for a championship. So
I feel there's a law but ten of consequences here.
You sew what happened Tuesday eight, Oh, how convenient they
(01:26:04):
play Utah Agains Sunday. Let's be honest, is this really sustainable?
Speaker 3 (01:26:10):
It's late and see I have a lot of skepticism
for the same reasons you outline. They had the starting
lineup as you mentioned, with Austin Reeves and Luka Doncic
really at Chamora, Lebron James and Dean Drayton, and they
trailed sixteen to six, and you know, they called time out.
Lebron went to the bench because he's on a min's
restriction anyway, and when Marcus Smart came back, they suddenly
(01:26:33):
became a more defensive oriented team. So I think the
starting lineup it's subject to change. I think, you know,
JJ's trying to stagger minutes and also just figure things
out of cost benefit of you know, wanting to have
good offensive spacing and shooting, and you can make up
four defensively later in the game. But yeah, I agree
(01:26:55):
with you that it is fair to wonder just because
Lebron bought into his role and saying I'm a basketball player,
I know how to fit in. Does that mean that
he can do that long term? And that's the paradox
with Lebron James when you're looking at his exes and
o's now he plays the game. He backs up those
words with actions. He is a pass first player. He
(01:27:17):
doesn't worry about hunting his shots. But at the same time,
he wants to be the guy that's directing everything. He
wants to be the person that is in control of
the Lakers, and that's obviously a much different dynamic because
his player named Luca Dongic is on the team now.
I think, in fairness to Lebron, we've seen in past
(01:27:37):
seasons that he's been reluctant to let go of the
wheel for a few reasons. You see Russell Westbrook make
terrible decisions, misopen shots, D'Angel Russell feasts er fam and
sometimes he looks like the greatest shooter behind Stephen Curry
and the other night. So he can't throw the ball
in the ocean, and he's terrible on defense. So you
(01:27:57):
can understand at some point he's going to say, you
know what, I'm directing the show here with When he
was with Anthony Davis, he would often talk about hey,
he's the number one option. I think that his success
outshine much more than his shortcomings. But from an availability
and aggressive inness standpoint, a d wasn't always there. But
(01:28:19):
I think when you're looking at Luca Doc he's on
a much different stress here. He's one of the best
scores in the NBA. He's in much better shape now.
You know, he can still improve as a playmaker, still
can improve as a defender, but he is showing progress
in that. I think you have to give Lebron some
grace and benefit the doubt that he will at least
(01:28:40):
a conceit a little bit because it is Luca. But
there's still going to be some push pool not just
with that, but the idea of once he's fully caught
up with his condition and being on board with any
kind of minutes restriction. I mean, that is just not
part of his DNA, and when the Lakers have tried
to do that in past seasons, it only lasts a
(01:29:02):
few games.
Speaker 2 (01:29:04):
All Right. You said a lot of good mouthful there.
I listened to every word. I would say this. I
think you get you grant him the grace now he's
been in the league twenty three years. But I feel
there's going to be a snowball effect as you get
into February, March, April and closer to the playoffs, where
some of these things are going to start to rear
their head because to be truly effective, Lebron still have
(01:29:24):
to have the ball and so does Luca and Frankly
Sotas Austin Reeeds.
Speaker 3 (01:29:29):
Yeah, great point. And I talked with an opposing team
assistant coach before Lebron's return, and he pointed out, you know,
using last season as a reference point post for a
deadline with Luca, they said apples and Orange was because
that wasn't a lot of time be the different supporting
cast players, right. But to see, and this is the
(01:29:49):
biggest part is this is now the final year of
his contract. We saw how the extension hopes didn't play
out in Lebron and how Lebron wanted and and so
essentially he might be playing as if trying to prove, hey,
I'm worthy of playing pass beyond this season, and so
that could be the outfit in the room. And that
(01:30:09):
assistant coach also pointed out, you know, for the first
time in his career, he's no longer the player that
has the power over the franchise that belongs now to
Luka Doncic, So how does he deal with that?
Speaker 10 (01:30:21):
Now?
Speaker 3 (01:30:22):
Lebron's very self aware, very calculates. I want to be surprised,
you know, when he's been making comments, like when I
asked him, how will he compare his role to the
last season, He's saying, you know, I'm a ballplayer. I
can fit in anywhere. He's I think, trying to say
these things and play the way he did in his
(01:30:43):
return to placate all that. But again, it's still your
larger point. It's one thing to do that one game,
but how about through the course of an entire season?
And with that, we've always seen that that takes a
life of its own because it's such a long season,
and that could yield your shrewe collars through the ups
(01:31:03):
and downs of it.
Speaker 2 (01:31:05):
So what's interesting is you kind of stole my thunder there.
I was going to go down this road. I feel
like Lebron is not only auditioning to prove he'll play
another year in the NBA, which he's going to. You're
not getting rid of this guy for a while, and
he wants a full blown farewell tour. He wants to
I think Mark play another year with the Lakers. I
think he's trying to finagle his way into getting a
(01:31:28):
contract to return with the Lakers. The problem is, and
I'll try to make this quick, Lebron is not the
cure for what ails the Lakers. At this point. We
know his best scale is on ball dominance, even when
he was a team player in Miami with d Wade
and he was always the number one option. And frankly,
he's not as athletic. He's become more of a perimeter
(01:31:49):
shooter now and he's a liability on defense, and that's
where the Lakers really need help on defense. So I
think things can go wrong as the season goes on.
Forget the offensive end, the physical conditioning, the ball handling,
his age, his defensive impact, which are all issues. He's
going to want that contract to come back to the
Lakers next year. Am I wrong about that? Your thoughts?
Speaker 9 (01:32:13):
No, I think you're right.
Speaker 3 (01:32:14):
But I think the other thing that we have to
see is that all the circumstances of this season is
really going to provide clarity for both parties on what
Lebron's future is. Because I think with the Lakers, I
don't think they're against having them come back next season,
but it has to be under pretty specific conditions. It's
not max contract now it's not minimum either, but it's
(01:32:37):
a contract that would be less than Luca Doctis and
even less than Austin Reeves because he's going to be
eligible for a big payday next summer. And I think
that the Lakers they want to keep them, and Austin
Reeves wants to stay, but he also wants.
Speaker 13 (01:32:51):
To get paid.
Speaker 3 (01:32:52):
But I think the other thing with Lebron, he's made
it very clear he doesn't want to prolong his career
as a pedestrian player. He's not going to fight the
Vince Carter route. So I think if he sees the
rate on the wall that this is, you know, for
him to stay, whether with the Lakers or another team's
going to require him to continue making pay cuts, he's
(01:33:13):
just going to announce he decided his retirement. But I
think because of the health being such a huge X factor,
given where he is at his age forty years old,
going to be forty one December thirtieth, and he's his
twenty third season, I think for better and for worse,
he's going to feel his aches and pains. I think
that that will provide further clarity that this could be
(01:33:37):
his last year, and as a result of that, he'll
announce before the season's over this is his last season.
So at least he gets that farewell toward Truman. But
here's I think, Bernie, as you're probably listening as the
listeners you're listening here, what we're gaining at is there's
so many variables that with this that's going to be
a very compelling and shoose your own adventure book with
(01:34:00):
this season. So there's just a lot of different moving
parts with it that make it very complicated, but very
compelling and very unpredictable. We know what the factors are
going to be, but we don't know exactly how each
factor will ultimately be in the whole percentage pie that
determines how these things play out for its future.
Speaker 2 (01:34:22):
Final thought, We're going to move on off this subject
because I have other things from where I sit. If
the Lakers truly have designs and I want to do
at least make the Conference finals, they need to address
their lack of athleticism. They need more two way players.
There's no question they have star power and they have
Marquee Power and Luca and the you know, continuing career
(01:34:43):
of Lebron. But they lack athleticism, they lack the two
way players that can be more reliable on the defensive end,
and they have too many specialists. Okay, they don't have
the versatility and they don't have the depth. But this
is going to be a continuing conversation all year. It's
going to be a fun season, not the least in
which the new NBA All Star format. Mark tell the
(01:35:05):
people about the new NBA All Star format.
Speaker 3 (01:35:09):
Yeah, it's Americans versus international stars. Now, so you know,
the NBA, they've been spinning the rolette wheel. How on
earth do we get guys actually give a you know
what about the All Star teams. So now they're doing
the international route and thinking, you know what, maybe this
can be a mini Olympics kind of scenario where American
pride on the line and the international stars will want
(01:35:31):
to represent their country. Look, Bernie, I mean they don't
need to play Game seven intensity and play forty eight
minutes just put on a fun show. I think they
need to go back to their real format and just
thrill it in the players. You know what, if you
don't come to compete. This will affect contracts, So I
(01:35:52):
think in the short term there'll be a buy in
because it's new, but it'll fizzle out, possibly in the
second half, or fizzle out when they try to do it.
Speaker 4 (01:36:00):
The next year.
Speaker 3 (01:36:01):
I mean, it's just they just need to go back
to the traditional format East West and there's thrilled to
the guys. Hey, you get paid a lot of money
to entertain fans, so even if we're you don't we
don't want to sacrifice your body for the second half
of season. At least put on an entertaining show and
act like you care.
Speaker 2 (01:36:21):
I think this is doomed to fail, and I'll tell
you why because when I first heard International versus US,
oh great. Then I looked into it. It's a three
team round robin tournament with two US teams and one
international world team. And they're going to play for twelve
minute games a twelve minute game, and you know they'll
vote on the players I guess, between coaches and fans,
but it's not going to be based on anything other
(01:36:43):
than the vote regardless of the position. Yeah, I agree,
it's just too gimmicky. It's gimmicky.
Speaker 3 (01:36:49):
I agree. One hundred percent. I mean, if fans that
are going to be intrigued with international basketball, there's this
very old sporting event that comes out every Warriors. It's
called the Olympics. So yeah, you can't replace or replicate that.
So yeah, I'm with you one hundred percent. It's gimmicky.
The NBA keeps trying to spin its own wheels and
(01:37:13):
they're not going to ever get rid of the All
Star Game. It's a teenpole event. It's a marketing thing.
But they got to find a way, and I think
it really comes down to negotiating the CBA and adding
these incentives here that'll affect contracts. And now I think
in the player's defense, they are being overloaded every year,
both team imposed, league imposed, and themselves imposed with all
(01:37:37):
these you know, with all these appearances, with you know,
endorsements and promoters, et cetera, that by the time Sunday hits,
they're kind of wiped out. They got to reduce that.
But you know, other than that, I think everyone needs
to be aware. Look, these tempole events exist because it's
(01:37:58):
the fans, So give them the respect that they deserve
and put on a show a.
Speaker 2 (01:38:03):
Couple more quick things. But these are important topics. Mark,
I always wish we had more time. It's out of
the open now. The NBA has a severe tanking problem.
What is Adam Silver going to do about it?
Speaker 3 (01:38:16):
Yeah, well, he's already tried to do things like have
the NBA Playans Tournament that's at least created more competition
the last month of the season, and it's improved the
tanking problem, but it hasn't eliminated the extreme tinking where
if a team knows it's going to be bad, it
now becomes really really bad. And the weighted lottery system,
(01:38:41):
they've tried to do that so that it's not guaranteed
you'll get a number one pick just because you're bad.
And ironically that did play out last season when the
Dallas Maverick's got the number one pick even though they
had like less than two percent odds to get it.
But it hasn't eliminated it completely. You know, I think
it's got to the point Adam Silver's got to consider
(01:39:02):
what uh, you know, the premier leagues and other international
leagues have done with relegation, and I know that that's
the whole got worm got you got to collectively bargain it.
But maybe that all incentivize teams that are really bad
not to be completely wetting in the bed real quickly.
Speaker 2 (01:39:20):
Look, it's more pronounced this year. In my humble opinion,
there are four teams that lot that won two games
are less than their first thirteen games of the season.
That hadn't happened in twenty seven years. So something weird
is going on. By the way, Wemby is hurt, how
soon he comes.
Speaker 3 (01:39:37):
Back, Spurs haven't given a timetable on that. These are
calf injuries, so these are very dicey because they can
often lead to Achilles injuries. Sneak preview, I talked with
some Mount sign medical doctors about just this influx of injuries,
what they make of it. And then when I ask
some point blank, even given the caveya, you're not working
(01:39:58):
with the team, you don't have their medical files, which
player concerns you the most of their injury? A few
of them mentioned Victor one Binyama, because the calf injuries
are always sensitive. If you come back too soon, you
can get an achilles injury. But the other thing I
mentioned is just Victor one Benyama's makeup. He's a he's
a you know, dominant big man with point guard skills
(01:40:20):
and when you're being asked to, you know, stretch the floor,
defend the perimeter, be a point guard and also be
a rint protector. You're asking a lot out of a
player's workload, especially given his body makeup, So no timetable.
But there's a reason why the Spurs are doing that,
and you know, really handling them with care because I
(01:40:41):
don't want to take any chances.
Speaker 2 (01:40:43):
Mark only got about a minute, but this is important.
I had the good fortune to visit with doctor Jerry
Buss more than once during my three year tenure at
the Forum. What would father Buss say about his sons
Joey and Jesse being fired? Because that was their comment.
I wonder what Dad would have to say about this.
You got the last word.
Speaker 3 (01:41:00):
Yeah, it's really hard, but I mean I think ideally
doctor Buss would have if it was up to him,
all his siblings would still be part of, you know,
the operation here. But since his passing twenty thirteen, so
many circumstances have changed. That's almost an unfair question to
ask because Jeanie, Jim, Joey, Jesse, they're all going to
(01:41:22):
have different versions on what they think their dad would
have wanted, so, you know, I don't think he ever
would have thought the Lakers would have ever sold it
to anyone, and neither did Genian fairness. I remember asking
her over the years and she would make it clear, hey,
Lakers aren't for sale. The times have changed, you know,
as far as just the expense to run an operation,
(01:41:43):
as well as the amount of money that very rich
investors and ownership groups can pay for. So it got
to the point where money talked a lot, and they
gave too good of an offer to say no.
Speaker 2 (01:41:55):
Well, and the bus is still maintaining a twenty percent
ownership stake, and Joey and Jesse their stakes and it
was more of a ton and key question because that's
what they said. Barren, Yeah, Mark, I think.
Speaker 3 (01:42:07):
There's also frustration. I mean, as much as you might
roll your eyes, they're going to be fine. And if
you know against the sale, what do you expect. I
think there was also a feeling of hey, like, Jeanie,
let us out to dry here and we're all in
the family, and they were on good terms with Genie.
I mean, I remember talking to Jeanie two years ago
and she was singing Joey and Jesse Buss's praises for
(01:42:29):
how Jesse evaluated talent. He was really credited for getting
guys like Austin Reeves and Kyle Kuzma. You know, Joey
Bust did a really good job overseeing their G League team,
overseeing development. Among all the criticisms in the front office
got over the years, that was one of the few
positives that they were very good in the scouting department
(01:42:50):
and player development. A lot of that went to Joey
and Jesse, and Jennie was very well aware of that.
So I think that in that context, that's partly why
Jossey was so public about his misgivings.
Speaker 2 (01:43:02):
Mark, great stuff. I'm already looking forward to next week.
Speaker 3 (01:43:05):
Thanks pal, I appreciate you man.
Speaker 2 (01:43:07):

the second injury news. Tuned into Countdown to Kickoff, presented
by bet MGM every Saturday and Sunday morning, right here

son's team is in first place, but he lost. Tucker
(01:44:29):
Craft did pick up Luke Musgrave. Not sure if he's
starting on Sunday. He might start in for Kyle Pitts.
I'm curious to see how Luke Musgrave fairs. He was
actually drafted ahead of Tucker Craft a couple of years ago.
Tucker Craft won the job and he's been a star performed,
but he's gone for the rest of the year. Well
that's exactly why we do this. Next segment, it's time
(01:44:52):
for the Fantasy Files.
Speaker 8 (01:44:54):
Fantasy Files with Brandon Deutsch, your go to fantasy foot
ball segment on win.
Speaker 19 (01:45:03):
Welcome to Fantasy Files on the Bernie Fratto Show. I
am Brandon Deutsch, and it is getting to the time
we need to win to make the playoffs in a
lot of leagues, and it is It's almost there. The
playoffs are a few weeks away. This is where it matters.
This is where the sits starts really materialize. And I
apologize for my voice getting recovering from some lerringitis still,
(01:45:27):
but you know what, that doesn't stop us because we
gotta win our matchups. Let's start with quin Shawn Judkins
against the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders are not good.
The Browns run defense is fourteenth, right, their defense is good,
their past defense is top fifteen, but points wise, they
have a top five defense and I do think they'll
be ahead the entire game. I don't think the Raiders
(01:45:48):
will be able to do anything against this Browns team.
So that's why I think Quinnjown Judkins is a must start.
I think they're gonna have the ball time of possession,
and they're gonna run the football because they have a
quarterback that is new. It's his first week in the
system in Shador Sanders. I don't think he'll be passing
the football at a high level. I would make sure
to start him, and I would sit Alvin Kamar against Atlanta.
(01:46:08):
He's battling an injury right now, and it's been a
bad year for Alvin Kamara fantasy owners. He's had one
decent game, I think one game where he scored a touchdown.
All year, he might not even have scored a touchdown
this year. He might have to fact check me on that.
I think he has zero or one touchdown all year
all year, maybe two max max. That's how bad he's been.
(01:46:29):
Atlanta's great against the pass, a little more a little
worse against the run. I still would sit Alvin Kamara.
You would have to literally pay me to play Alvin
Kamara at this point in fantasy. I'm not kidding. Sit
Neil too. I don't trust any Saints except Chris Olave.
I do trust Chris Olave. Make sure to start him.
He's a lock in the lineup. Lock the target share
(01:46:49):
has been top five in the league all season long.
Tyler Shuck being at quarterback does not change that he
was getting targets with Ratler. He was getting targets with
Tyler Shuck. Make sure to lock him into your lineup
and start Jameison Williams as well. Bounce back game for
Detroit against the New York Giants. That's great. Lock it in.
I mean he's a big play guy. I mean half
the games. I mean flip a coin. It's either twenty
(01:47:11):
fantasy points or zero for Jamison Williams. This is a
twenty fantasy point game. Make sure to sit Chewan Jennings
against Carolina on Monday Night Football. This is a Ricky
Piersall game. Why Kyl Shanaan's gonna orchestrate getting Ricky piers
All the ball because they didn't get him the ball
last week? And now there's questions the ayyuk situation. Right, Oh,
who's your wide receiver one?
Speaker 2 (01:47:32):
Now?
Speaker 19 (01:47:32):
Is it Jennings you don't want to pay or Ricky Pearsall.
Who's guaranteed to be in your roster next season? Oh
it's Ricky Pearsall. Oh, let's show them so we have
less questions about basically who their wide receiver was, and
one is going to be going in the next season.
That's how coaches work. I just know how that works.
He's gonna have a massive game, and that means Jennings
will get the short end of the stick. Kit will
(01:47:53):
have a big game. But obviously he's a locking in start.
Let's stay on the tight ends. I love Colston Lovelan
locking in start against Pittsburgh. He's been a little bit
of cryptocurrency with his production in the last few weeks,
but I think you can trust him against Pittsburg, who's
a very susceptible defense bottom five in the league against
the pass, and we know those seam routes they've given
up to tight ends all year. I mean, Colston Lovelin's
gonna have a huge game. I would also make sure
(01:48:16):
to start Alec Pierce. We'll go back to wide receivers
against Kansas City. Alec Pierce is the wide receiver one
right now. If we're just looking at production in the
last few weeks, Alec Pierce is the wide receiver one.
There is no doubt about it. Michael Pittman's good. Josh
Jowns is good. Pierce has got in the most yards,
the most touchdowns, and the most targets. Andy is the highest
prompt sixty one and a half receiving yards. That's the
highest of any receiver on the team, even Tyler Warren,
(01:48:36):
if you consider him. Tyler Warren's obviously a lot of it
didn't start. But we're not evening to get into that
because we got to sit tray Talker against Cleveland. I
am out on every raider. I don't care. Pete Carroll
does not play his best guys, Jack Besh. Thornton probably
has two best receivers, but let's throw it to thirty
eight year old Tyler Lockett. He's not thirty eight and
I you know, great player, but my goodness, Pete Carroll
(01:48:58):
never plays rookies. And it's a really in the constant
team because Trey Tucker has a drop problem. He is fast,
he does get open, but he's also about five foot
four on a good day and he's like five to ten,
but he's not a vertical threat who thrown a two downfield.
If you don't play Thornton, where you don't play Besh
exactly exactly, make sure, said Zavi, you're worthy too. He
hasn't been good all year and with her, she writes
(01:49:18):
coming back, he has put up dud after dead after dud.
He is the lineup lock on the bench. If we
have lineup locks, this is a bench lock. That's who
he is. Same with Parker Washington. Jacobey Myers was great
last week. He's going up against Arizona not a great defense.
They have some good dbs though. I think Parker Washington
is an easy set. And like I mentioned, Freaky Pears's
a start. Sit Josh Downs because I mentioned Alec Pearce
(01:49:41):
is a start. Josh Downs is not gonna play well.
He was good for a few weeks and then they
figured out, okay, we need to target Alec Pears. He's
been that good. He catches everything. So make sure to
sit Josh Downs. Start tetor Rod McMillan against San Francisco.
San Francisco's given up three hundred and two passing yards
alone per game over their last three games. How bad
is that. That's got to be the worst in the league.
Speaker 2 (01:49:59):
And it is.
Speaker 19 (01:50:00):
And Tenero McMillan and Jalen Cocher are both starts. They're
gonna cook the forty nine ers defense on Monday Night Football. Finally,
let's get into some sis. Start running backs. Start Trevion
Henderson against the Cincinnati Bengals. Love what he can bring
off their big game. I know Ramondroe Stevenson is probably back.
I'd start both. Cincinnati's got the worst run defense in
the league, thirty second Sit Ban Night against Jacksonville's second
(01:50:22):
best run defense and all football and Star Travy CTN
against Arizon Mccardinals. He should have a big game in
sit Chase Brown. I know that's a crazy hot take
sid Chase Brown against the New England Patriots. Thank you
guys so much for listening to fantasy files. You can
find me at PSD takes on Ax, Brandon s stowtch on,
TikTok and Instagram. Back to the Bernie Frado Show. Let's
win our matchups.
Speaker 2 (01:50:40):
All right, dude, you have a lot of ground covered
in case you were wondering. Yeah, Album Kamara not a
banner year. He's actually only scored. We're with Thanksgiving. Let's
face Thanksgiving is next week. He scored one. He could
score one touchdown all year. He's averaging three point six
year outs of Cary. He's only run for four and
sixty yards all year. That does not make for a
Fantasy championship. These next three weeks are critical. You want
(01:51:03):
to make your playoffs, you want to even get a
buye if you can. And then after that that's where
the big money starts, when the playoffs come and you
want to score your points. And so this is where
it gets interesting. You know, Josh Jacobs is probably out Sunday.
I think they're gonna save him for Thanksgiving. I know
they're gonna have a pregame workout as it were, and
see how strong he is if he can go. But
(01:51:23):
I just think that they're probably better off saving him
for the Lions Thursday. That's going to be an important
game for Green Bay. So anyway, there you have it.
Fantasy Files. Coming up, we ask the eternal question that
people seem to want to know. Is the Kansas City
Chiefs mystique gone for good? I'll give you my thoughts
(01:51:46):
coming up, and here's the tease. No, but we're gonna
talk about some inconvenient truths. If you are a Chiefs
Kingdom fan, I do believe they beat the Colts Sunday.
I really believe they beat the Colts Sunday. I'm Bernie Friddle,
comes to you live from the Las Vegas Fox Sports
Radio Studios. Keep it locked. You're listening to the Bernie
(01:52:07):
Fraddle Show on five. All right back at the Bernie
Frautle Show Fox Sports Radio. There have been people waiting
to bury the Chiefs for a long time, and I
get it. They've had enough. There's Chiefs fatigue. But I'm
not so sure. Do I think they're gonna win the
Super Bowl this year? No? Do I think they'll be
(01:52:29):
in the Super Bowl. You can't count of out just yet.
Heading into Sunday's game, Patrick Mahomes has never lost three
consecutive regular season games, and the Chiefs haven't been below
five hundred through eleven games in fourteen years. Now. Technically,
both of those streaks are risk on Sunday, when the
(01:52:50):
Chiefs host the Colts in a pretty crucial game after
two straight losses. Well, now you know, the Chiefs are
five and five this season. If the season were to
end today, the Chiefs would be on the outside looking
in in the playoff picture. But I think coming home
is going to be with the doctor order in case
he's four and won a home this season. For some
(01:53:12):
they're only one in four on the road. I get
it's going to be a difficult test for Kansas City.
I get it. The Colts are eight and two, they're
coming off of bye, Jonathan Taylor leaves the league in rushing.
They're for real. But I've said it many times. You
put a hothouse team out in the cold in November
on regular grass, are not quite the same dynamic. The
(01:53:35):
Chiefs defense is going to have their handful, but those
good the Colts. I mean, there's some critical matchup issues here.
And by the way, Mahomes could be facing a replenished
Colts secondary.
Speaker 4 (01:53:46):
Right.
Speaker 2 (01:53:47):
He's throwing fourteen touchdowns three interceptions at home this season
compared to four touchdowns and three interceptions on the road,
So you've got a good home road split favoring Mahomes.
And Daniel Jones has come back to earth a little
bit after after a strong start. He was a real
feel good story. He's a good player, right, And the
Colts have a tough stretch. They're eight and two. They
deserve the record, but they've faced a somewhat lighter schedule
(01:54:10):
so far. Starting Sunday, they're gonna have seven straight opponents
that are above five hundred. I like the Chiefs to
win this game, but I haven't addressed the elephant in
the room. Is the Chiefs mystique gone? Is it gone
for good? Is it gone this season? You know there's
no old saying Casey Stengel had back in the fifties
within the New York Yankees win like nine World Series
(01:54:33):
in eleven years. He said teams can't beat the Yankees
because they get stuck staring at the pinstripes, the moral
they could win on the reputation they intimidated teams. I
think the Chiefs used to do that. They don't anymore, okay,
And the claim that the chief dominance is potentially over
is frankly supported by most of the recent performance struggles,
(01:54:56):
particularly the fact they're zero to five this year in
one score game and last year or were they something
crazy like eleven and zero in one score games. Be
that as it may, things have a way to regress
back to the mean. But if you look at this
objectively and honestly, the Chiefs I think are kind of
like an eight and two team disguised as a five
(01:55:17):
and five team. Remember when Travis Kelcey dropped that pass
in the end zone and went right to a Philadelphia Eagle. Okay,
that's part of the game. And the fifths and butts
were candy and nuts who have a merry Christmas. But
it happened. These things didn't happen in the past. Mahomes
subsequent to that through a terrible interception in a critical
moment against Jacksonville in the end zone, and you saw
(01:55:39):
what happened last week. Mahomes was very un mahomes like.
So his play has diminished on the road, that's undeniable.
Where he was once making those Houdini pull a rabbit
out of the hat place to win games, now the
opposite is happening. He frankly made some plays that cost
his team games. But there's a long way to go
in this season, okay. And when you consider these factors, yes,
(01:56:04):
that are contributing to their inconsistencies on both offense and defense,
a challenging schedule, and you've got the emergence of strong
divisional arrivals like Denver. So Kansas City finds itself, frankly
in an unfamiliar situation. They won the division nine years
in a row. They're not going to win the division
this year. They need to get into the playoffs. They
need to get in the tournament, and they need to
(01:56:25):
start winning consistently to secure that playoff spot. But they're
no longer going to be able to coast into the
playoffs on a dominant reputation. These are their issues. These
are facts. There are objective truths, and there are personal feelings.
These are objective truths. The Chiefs have struggled in close games.
The Chiefs offense has been able to consistently win one
(01:56:48):
score games, a trend that's the exact opposite of previous seasons. Objectively,
the Chiefs have offensive line issues. Their offensive line has
been very inconsistent. That hasn't helped Patrick Mahomes, and as such,
the offense has been less effective in converting opportunities into wins.
They've also had defensive consistency. The Chiefs defense has not
(01:57:12):
been as dominant as in past championship runs, and their
defensive front is failing to generate the same level of disruption.
Not at home, they're better. They already have, allowing seventeen
point nine points a game at home. But also they've
had health issues. The Chiefs injuries, particularly athletes coming off surgeries.
You get it. They're not the same. Now there are
(01:57:36):
other things out of their control somewhat, it's a much
stronger division. The AFC WESH is a much tougher division.
Teams like the Broncos and Chargers are formidable opponents. They've
lost to both this year the Chiefs. The Chiefs have
a challenging schedule. The remaining schedule does not offer much relief.
You've got games against playoff contenders like the Cowboys and
Texans still d as well. Oh yeah, you got the
(01:57:59):
Colts on Sunday. Now what needs to change. The Chiefs
have to regain and refined if that's such a word. Refined,
I don't know, an offensive rhythm. They need to get
consistency on offense. They need to generate more explosive players
in the run game. And they're down a running back.
I don't think they get up Isaia Pacheco back until
(01:58:21):
Thanksgiving weekend. Big week for the Chiefs coming up. You've
got two big games in a span of four or
five days here. The Chiefs also need to re establish
their defensive dominance. They got to play at a higher level.
You've got to be much more complimentary football. And again
I mentioned it before, Patrick Mahomes he noted himself, the
(01:58:42):
team needs to be more consistent in all three phases,
not what's interesting and why you cannot go to sleep
on the Chiefs. Whenever the Chiefs have faced challenges in
this particular season, you can't say they're unprecedented. Well they
are for this iteration of the Chiefs. Then there have
(01:59:02):
been five and five after ten games under Patrick Mahomes.
But it's important to note with Mahomes and Andy Reid,
they're not only still dangerous, this is a team that's
faced adversity before and frankly have passed his prologue. They
overcome it. Well, that starts Sunday again. I repeat, Patrick
Mahomes has never lost three consecutive regular season starts. The
(01:59:26):
Chiefs have never been below five hundred through eleven games
since twenty twelve. And yes, both streaks are on the
line Sunday. The Chiefs are five and five. They're outside
looking in on the playoff AFC playoff picture, and we'll
see what happens Sunday. I think the Chiefs will win. Still,
it's going to be a very difficult test for a
(01:59:46):
Chiefs team that's played just two teams currently below five hundred.
Speaker 11 (01:59:49):
This season.
Speaker 2 (01:59:50):
The Colts are eight and two coming off of buye.
Jonathan Taylor leaves the NFL in rushing and rushing touchdowns,
and he's been an absolute superstart every since of the
world word. As a matter of fact, against Week ten
against the Falcons, this was in Berlin. Even though the
Colts struggled on offense, Taylor saved the day, ran for
two hundred and forty four yards, including an eighty three
(02:00:11):
hour touchdown run of the fourth order to really put
the game in Indianapolis favor, and ran for an eight
year touchdown in overtime. So the Chiefs defense is going
to have their hands full, all right, So this game
likely I believe Hinji's on two key factors. One can
(02:00:32):
the Chiefs slow down and somewhat contain Jonathan Taylor? And
can the Colts slow down Patrick Mahomes. Now, Kansas City
has been very good against the run lately, allowing the
third fewest yards per carrying the bat and the league
since Week five. But Indy they're an entirely different animal,
and if their running game gets going well, that's going
(02:00:53):
to open up passing lanes for Daniel Jones. He's an
excellent play action passer. Still, the Chiefs are at home.
This is where Mahomes excels. They have their back against
the wall. Do I think they're going to come through
as they start to make their postseason push? I say yes. Now.
Mahomes is also thrown for at least three touchdowns in
(02:01:15):
four straight games. Rashee, Rice, Travis, Kelcey, Hollywood Brown xaper' worthy.
They gotta get busy Sunday. So there you have it.
We'll see what happens. The Bernie Frales Show continues. You're
listening to the Bernie Fraddlesh That's right, you heard the man,
the Bernie Fradles Show. Game's rolling right along. My name
is Bernie Fradderwick kemedy lyon from the Fox Sports Radio
(02:01:36):
studios here in Las Vegas. Take you up to three
and Pacific six am Eastern. A lot of stuff to
get to. You heard my thoughts on the Chiefs. It's
an interesting NFL season. From this standpoint. We have seven
weeks remaining in the twenty twenty five NFL season, and
(02:01:57):
believe it or not, nineteen teams are either any playoff
spot or win a game of eight playoff spot. And
when it boils down to it. If you're four and
six or better, you are in it, you're not out
of it. That would include Minnesota and Dallas who are
(02:02:17):
touched for their back but remain in the picture at
four and six and four or five to one, respectively.
So that's twenty one potential contenders or pretenders. Now, how
do I define contender getting to the super Bowl? To
contend for a Super Bowl, you have to be in
the Super Bowl, So I'm not talking about playoffs or
you're might make some noise in the platin you to
(02:02:38):
get there, you don't. So I'm gonna rapid fire go
through these teams. And if I say they're pretender, doesn't
mean I don't think they're good. Doesn't mean I don't
think they've had a successful season. It means I don't
think they are going to get to the super Bowl.
I want to start with the New England Patriots. They've
been outstanding this year, but their wins have come against
quote unquote lesser opponents, and they have a roster to
(02:03:01):
lax talent compared to other contenders. But for a rebuild year,
the Pats, they're a year away. Now they can change
my mind if they beat both the Bills in the
Ravens next month. But for now, I said I thought
the Patriots and the Arizona would be very good this year.
I was half right. And the truth of the matter is,
(02:03:22):
I think Drake made is an MVP favorite, and I
do think they are very good and will make the
playoffs and the probably win their division. Do I think
they're going to the super Bowl?
Speaker 9 (02:03:31):
No?
Speaker 2 (02:03:31):
I told that makes them a pretender. The Buffalo Bills.
This may shock you. I still think they're a contender.
They're a tat off. So are the Chiefs and the Ravens.
Chiefs are five and five, and you know what the
Ravens are. They lost at home to the Patriots, but
they're gonna get a chance to beat them in Foxborough
next month, and they can still win the division. Now,
only Buffalo, and when Buffalo gets to the playoffs, because
(02:03:52):
they have a talent and they have experience and a quarterback,
only the Chiefs or Ravens could beat them in the playoffs.
And they're not. They're not locked down either right now,
so I consider Buffalo a contender. You got a reigning
MVP quarterback. Okay, they've had their blips. They had one
Thursday night. They're a contender Pittsburgh Steelers. Good story, pretender,
(02:04:15):
Tell me why this team is any more of a
threat than the teams that field to win playoff games
in each of the last eight seasons. They're two and
three in their last five and they got Chicago, Buffalo,
and Baltimore coming up. I do think they beat Chicago Sunday,
but they're a pretender. Pittsburgh's not going to the super Bowl.
Baltimore Ravens. I say this speak grudgingly, but I will
put the contender moniker on them because they get hot
(02:04:39):
in the playoffs. Can they beat Buffalo yet? Can they
be Kansas City? Yeah? But they still have to do it.
They started one in five for a reason. They have
no margin of error, and they're gonna have to win
road playoff games to get to a super Bowl that
has them in their formula in the past. Having said that,
the list is short, so I'll give them a contender
with an asterisk. Okay, I'm not sold on Baltimore. They
(02:05:00):
do something. Something happens when they get in the playoffs,
and I know it was very fashionable for them to
for a lot of people to pick them to win
the Super Bowl. This year. I'm not one of them,
but I'll give them the contender notion. Now, the Colts,
all right, I think it's been a great story, but
I gotta call them a pretender. Why they got some
tough road matchups next month, well, starting today the Chiefs.
(02:05:25):
Then you got to go to Jacksonville and to Seattle.
I think they could still win the division, and I
think they can win a playoff game. But do I
think the Colts are actually gonna go to the super Bowl?
Even though they have Daniel Jones who's better, and people
giving credit for Jonathan Taylor in a good defense, they're
under the red arm. They're six and zero at home. Look,
the bottom line is this. I will say that they
(02:05:47):
are pretenders, but had a damn good year. Colts aren't
going to Super Bowl. Jacksonville Jaguars, A come on, they're
a pretender. They're kind of a jeck On High team.
You can't do that in January. And I don't dislike
Trevor Lawrence, but I don't have a lot of confidence
in them either. That's just face it. They'll be surprised
if Arizona upsets Jacksonville Sunday. As two and a half
(02:06:09):
point home Dogs, Houston Texans. Sorry, they're pretenders, top ranked
scoring defense. I love CJ. Strive when he's healthy. He
hasn't been on his game this year, and they've dug
themselves a bit of a hole. They're now six and
five right and I don't know. They have an upcoming
stretch again against the coltson Chiefs, and I would say
(02:06:31):
they're just short. Could they be a playoff team? Yeah,
but again contender versus pretender meaning you're a contender. I mean,
you can get to the super Bowl. I don't see it.
How about the Denver Broncos, Yes, they're a contender. They're
technically the top seed in the NFL right now at
nine to two following a big statement, you know, Week
eleven victory over Kansas City. You gotta give him credit.
(02:06:51):
That's crossing a major rubicon for Denver Broncos fans. Their
defense is elite. Bow Knicks had times has been stellar.
I guess they've been a you know, a erratic and inconsistent,
but they and they're not you know, they're prone to turnovers.
But last year they got there, and they got there
year early and they weren't quite ready. Sean Payton has
(02:07:14):
taken his team to new heights. If the offense can
iron some things out, the Broncos have it in their
DNA to get to the Super Bowl. I'm gonna call
them a contender. We'll see the Chargers pretender. Come on, man,
they got the Eagles, Chiefs, Cowboys, Broncos coming up. They
got slaughtered by the Jaguars last week. I think they
(02:07:36):
peaked too early. They've had too many injuries. Justin Herbert
is behind an offensive line that's that's horrible. And the
Chargers have benefited, frankly from a lesser than scheduled You'll
never hear me called an NFL schedule week. You just
don't do that. They're all it's a gauntlet. Some teams
are better than others. But you know, look, hard Ball's
(02:07:57):
got a track record in college and lead quarterback and
a strong defense. Mindum never won the big one in
the NFL. They're not going to this year. They're pretenders
the Chiefs. How can you not call them a contender?
You still got to knock out the champ. They've been
the champ third best scoring margin plus minus seventy three
in the conference, and they rank in the top ten
and scoring and offense and defense. And the truth of
(02:08:19):
the matter is, yeah, they're five and five down, but
they'll be surprised that they go six and one down
to stretch, maybe run the table. They've got the DNA,
They've proven they can do it. They got to do
it again. We'll see. Nothing's guaranteed, but the Chiefs are
not pretenders. Here's what cracks me up about the Philadelphia Eagles.
(02:08:40):
I am baffled.
Speaker 11 (02:08:41):
I get.
Speaker 2 (02:08:43):
That their offense hasn't been as pretty as some people
wanted to. They're bitching about their quarterback. They're frustrated with
the quarterback situation. What the hell? What in the wide
wide world of sports is going on here? Jalen Hurst
is twenty two to three in his last two seasons,
fifty fifty eight touchdowns, three interceptions and a passer rating
a one to ten. And he was twelve to three
(02:09:05):
last year, went to a Super Bowl. He's eight and
two this year, completion percentage sixty seven percent this year,
sixteen touchdowns, one interception. He's passing for six more yards
a game now last than he did last year, and
it's passer rating is higher than it was last year. Well,
Philly is a contender. Repeating ain't easy, but there's no
question Philadelphia is going to be in the picture deep
(02:09:28):
into January. They're starting to surge at the perfect time.
I'm curious how they do against Dallas Sunday. Could there
be an upset, Yeah, but I don't expect it. Look
at the end of the year in the NFL, they
don't ask Kyle just how many, and the Eagles will
seem like they're on their way to win fourteen games again,
if not more so. Yes, I get the offense lacks consistency,
(02:09:50):
but I just told you what the quarterback's doing. So
Philly is very much on the contender side, you know.
And I'm actually kind of finding myself enjoying this Cowboys story.
Wasn't a Mike McCarthy guy. I do like Brian Schottenheimer,
I do. I love the way Dakas really stepped up
this year. They've added on defense, but they're still a pretender.
They just can't get to the Super Bowl this year.
(02:10:12):
I don't think they've only won eleven of the last
twenty eight games.
Speaker 11 (02:10:17):
They have a.
Speaker 2 (02:10:17):
Negative scoring margin. They got the Eagles, Chiefs and Lions
and consecutive weeks. It's not an easy path, not an
easy path. They have contender talent, and I hope they
get to the playoffs. I think it'd be an interesting story.
I really do Bears big time pretender. They're strong, they're
on the right track. Too many live high wire escape
(02:10:38):
acts they've had this year. All Right, we'll see if
the Bears survived the Steelers Sunday. Then we'll see if
they survived the pack the Packers twice, the forty nine Ers,
and the Lions and Eagles between now and the end
of the season. Are you serious? The schedule is about
to get real. The Bears were easily put away by
the Ravens last month, and they almost choked it down
(02:10:59):
against Minnesota in Week eleven. I'm not buying it. Kodles
to what Ben Johnson has done. Not way over with
a feather if you'd have told me there had been
seven to three heading into Thanksgiving. Green Bay Packers. Actually,
I'm very slightly gonna give them a contender, but I
don't think they're gonna do it. They get an asterisk
(02:11:21):
like the Ravens. Okay, they're up and down. I like
Jordan Love, but he's inconsistent. They're not dominant at all. Okay,
he started out two and oh they're four to three
and one. I believe had Jackson Dart started last Sunday,
the New York Giants would have beat him. Detroit Lions contender.
I expect them to be in the super Bowl. Something
isn't clicking. Defensive injuries are factoring in, but they're still
(02:11:44):
right there in the NFC North. I think they'll they're
going to handle their business big time Sunday later today
against Jameis Winston and the Giants. That game, to me
feels like it's got thirty seven to six written all over.
We'll see, uh you got the hackers on Thanksgiving. The
Bears are more flawed, less talented. Listen, the Lions are
(02:12:05):
back in that for Mayor spot. They're No one's expecting
them to do anything this year. They blew the lead
two years ago at San Francisco in the fourth court.
They or other way to the super Bowl, and then
they started out top of the hill last year, and
then after Thanksgiving they were a complete match unit. They
had thirteen players on iron defense who played at one
started at one time or another. And that's what happened. Okay,
(02:12:26):
fifteen and two last year the most talented squa out
in the NFL. Check Dan Campbell after a loss. Last
thirteen losses when of the next game covered a spread
and every one of them. Okay, Detroit, it's very much
a contender. Brings me to the aforementioned Minnesota Vikings. It's interesting.
(02:12:47):
They have a similar core to the team to win
fourteen to three last year, except they don't have Sam Darnold.
It mean stuck in neutral for much of the season.
Injuries are a part of it, and I like JJ
McCarthy and I think in time they take him two
three years, just like a David Bryce Young. I always
believed in him. J J. McCarthy struggled and the defense
(02:13:07):
seems to have lost a lot of its edge this season,
and I don't know why. So I got to call
him a pretender. Maybe they weren't as good as their
fourteen and three record last year and now they don't
have Sam Darnold, and I don't know if this is
just a situation where that they're not a fourteen and
(02:13:29):
three roster and then regresses to the mean i'd be
And frankly, I don't think that not only a pretender.
I don't think the Vikers will make the playoffs. I
do like Kevin O'Connell a lot, though, and I think
they're poised to be in the hunt, you know, for
the next two or three years, if they get the
quarterback situation. Look, I really love what they're doing in
Tampa Bay, and I like Baker Mayfield. And despite the
(02:13:52):
fact they've had a ton of injuries and they started
six and two, they had a commanding lead in the
NFC South, but they've come out of their buy with
back to back tough losses and now they had the
Los Angeles play the Rams Sunday. All Right, they got
a half a game lead over Carolina. The defense is vulnerable,
and Baker Mayfield is outstanding, but still a bit of
a wildcard. Okay, the Tampa Bay Bucks have a somewhat
(02:14:15):
I say this in air quotes, a somewhat generous schedule
the rest of the way. I think they'll hold on
to win the division, be the fifth year to row.
But when push comes to shove, they have some weak
spots in the roster and their dynamic when they bring
their best, but they don't always bring their best. I
have to put them in the pretender to not have
(02:14:35):
to put Tampa Bay in the pretender category for one
suple reason. They're not going to the Super Bowl. Okay,
you're a contender. You have to be in the super
Bowl to win it. That's my definition. So in all
of these grades I'm giving, as it were, for lack
of a better term, that's where I'm drawing the line
contender versus pretender. All Right, Carolina, Man, they're five and
(02:15:02):
two in their last seven. They're catching a touchdown against
the Niners Sunday night. That'd be a huge win on
the road. They're five and two in their last seven.
They got a shot at actually winning division and a wildcard.
The problem is their offense goes on a walk about
too often. I like Bryce Young, he's still nowhere near
the ceiling. The defense has. You know, they have limited
(02:15:25):
talent on defense, and basically they've won with a lesser
than tough schedule. But you know, the Panthers, I think
realize their fans realize this. They're making progress and they've
you know, Dave Canalis who did Wonders with Baker Mayfield
in Tampa Bay, and he did Wonders with Russell Wilson
(02:15:45):
back in the day, and Seattle he's doing wonders with
Bryce Young, So I think they can make a wildcard game.
I don't even know if they win a wildcard game.
But progress is progress, and you're seeing it in Carolina,
and she's not gonna be this year. So Caroline's a
pretender to Los Angeles Rams. I will put them in
contender status. The Rams rank in the top six in
terms of scoring, offense, and defense, and Matthew Stafford is
(02:16:09):
by far having the best season of his career. Why
I don't say contender with a great deal of confidence.
You don't have Aaron Donald anymore. You don't have that
one dominant presidence on defense. Yeah, they picked off Sam
Donald fork times last week, and I have a trouble believing. Honestly,
people think I'm a Stafford hater. Far from it, not
(02:16:32):
even close. But I'll tell you this. I saw many
years in Detroit where Stafford had talent around him. The
twenty fourteen lines is one example. They were twelve and four.
He had Calvin Johnson and Dominican Sue and the number
three ranked defense. He went into Dallas in the playoffs
and would have won the game. Stafford through turned the
(02:16:52):
ball over twice in consecutive in consecutive possessions in the
fourth quarter. I can't get that out of my mind.
He was owing three in the playoffs against Detroit, lost
so Seattle, New Orleans, and Dallas in er for seven
in playoff contention games. And I know they call them
King comeback, but a lot of times those comebacks were
in the fourth quarter after he'd done things to put
his team into deficit. That's not happening this year. But
(02:17:13):
I can't unsee that. Okay, and I'm not saying it's
going to happen, but I can unsee that. The Rams reloaded.
Sean mcvayh is the real deal. He's gonna be a
Hall of Fame coach. The Rams have reloaded, and they've
they've done it looking good. They dump They dumped a
bunch of high paid veterans after they won the twenty
twenty one Super Bowl. They're well coached, Matt Staffords having
(02:17:36):
the year of his life, and I would say the
defense is good enough to win a Super Bowl. They're
not the Steve Curtin and Pittsburgh, they're not the eighty
five Bears, they're not New England, but they're good enough
to play complimentary football. We'll see where they go from here.
I'll put them on contender. The Rams could get to
the super Bowl, but they're not my prediction to get
(02:17:57):
to the super Bowl. How about those Seattle Seahawks very
much similar to the Rams. They rank on the top
six on both sides of the ball. Sam Donald also
a superb season throw out last week flush it and
believe it or not. Before last week, the Seahawks were
(02:18:18):
awesome on the road. And what I can't also get
out of my mind is how the hell do you
pick Sam Donald off four times and yet they're lining up.
Granted it was a sixty yard field goal to win
the game with a field goal. If you turn into
NFL team over three times in a game, that team
the chances for that team that turned the ball over
(02:18:38):
three times to win the game is nine percent. All right? Well, Unfortunately,
now Sam Donald has turned the ball over nine times
his last four games to a league high fourteen. And
as much as I like the Seahawks, they've lost close
games to the forty nine Ers, Buccaneers, and now Rams.
That makes them a pretender. I'm not going to accuse
(02:19:01):
Sam Darnold of fading when it matters most, but it
happened last year in Minnesota, and I don't know if
it's gonna happen this year. I like the Seahawks. I
think they pull acts Tennessee Sunday as a double digit favorite.
The question is do the Seahawks really have the talent
to go through a postseason playoff gauntlet and actually get
(02:19:23):
to the super Bowl. I have to call him pretender.
Leaves us with one team left, the forty nine Ers.
Despite being badly damaged by injuries, they're still seven to
four in the rank decently on both sides of the ball.
Brock Purty is back, Mac Jones did great. The injuries
are going to be too hard to overcome. I think
they haven't won a back to back game since September.
I'm talking about the forty nin ers. No Fred Warner, right,
(02:19:47):
you know what, I don't need to go through the litany.
They have a manageable schedule that's going to get him
to the playoffs. But I have to call him pretenders.
I like brock Purty, but he's got to have a
full surrounding cast, and the defensive suffer too much loss.
So there you have it. If you followed all that
you're you're a better man than me. Coming up, we
will have the world of soccer and we have much more.
(02:20:09):
I want to get to the playoff picture what it
actually looks like as we head into the stretch. Run

Nothing had a gentleman inquire do you still do what
(02:21:33):
my Name? And I said, well, this is my answer.
After a strong four year run of brand New Fool
and What my Name, we're taking a little break. I
may bring it back, I'm not sure, but they had
a good four year run. We are in the throes
of a pretty interesting NFL and COLL season and now
what's becoming and even more interesting. I'm talking about football
(02:21:56):
NBA season with stories. Typically, Yeah, I do four hours
every week. I used to do seven. I'm not even
to even get to this stuff I want to get to.
So it's a good slappy segment. I get it. We
kind of have to bend that hour for that now,
and I'm not ruling it out bring it out in
the future, but I want to let it air out
for a while. But I appreciate that people would ask
(02:22:17):
and people remember because we had a lot of fun
with that. But after doing about two hundred of them,
it's not that they get redundant, it's just that, you know,
we want to we want to keep things fresh. So
I'm not I'm not going to rule it out that
i'd ever not that i'd ever bring it back. But
but for now, in the you know, foreseeable future, what
my name and brand Newfool are are going to sit
(02:22:40):
on the on the sidelines for a bit. A little
later in the show, I want to talk a little
bit about the NFL playoff picture. I got to tell you,
and I hate this saying, well, I didn't have them
mingo KRD. Okay, Well, if you had the Patriots leading
(02:23:00):
the division Thanksgiving on your Bengo card, or the Colt's
leading the division on your Bingo card, and you had
the Chiefs, Steelers, Texans on the outside looking in, not
even in the playoffs as we head into Thanksgiving, sure,
Dial one eight. None of us had that. None of
(02:23:22):
us said that, And that's what makes makes this interesting.
All right. By the way, it's not too soon to
start looking ahead. Can you believe it? It looks like
right now the season where to end the Titans will
have the number one overall pick again, followed by the
Jets no surprise, then the New York Giants and Narrators,
followed by the Browns and Saints to any of the
(02:23:44):
midnight callers if you're still listening, hope you are sure
you are just an incredible job tonight in the range
of quality, thoughtful opinions on the Draymon versus the fan
situation when he he called the fan called a mangel
Reese in an eight second span and Draymond had a
mislay up four miss putbacks and four rebounds or me
(02:24:08):
bounds as they were, and then the fan called him
angel Reese and he got in his face and right.
Good comments on that. Excellent comments on the Cowboys taking
a knee with two minutes and forty seconds to go,
where the disrespecting the Arraiders or respecting the Raiders? Excellent
comments on that. Then, of course you Sanders will have
some thoughts on that as we wrap up the show
(02:24:28):
coming up, but you know we do cover it all
on the show, including the other football spelled futbol. And oh,
by the way, yes, we are two hundred days away
from World Cup soccer here in North America. And on
that note, it's time for the world or for the
world of soccer.
Speaker 8 (02:24:50):
The greatest goals the thrilling finishes national drum him him,
it's all here in this report from the World of Soccer.
Speaker 6 (02:25:09):
We begin the world of soccer with the raising of
a trophy.
Speaker 21 (02:25:13):
NWSL, Yes, the women's side of American soccer played their
final on Saturday, November twenty second, between the Washington Spirit
featuring Trinity Rodman of Team USA and Gotham FC that
had Rose Levelle, also of the.
Speaker 6 (02:25:29):
US women's team.
Speaker 21 (02:25:30):
This is one of the reasons that NWSL is interesting.
If you like to keep up with the United States
women's team, a lot of their players can be found here.
And indeed Gotham FC here the New York team on
the verge of lifting their second championship in three seasons.
And it was indeed the aforementioned Rose Levelle in front
of a crowd of eighteen thousand at PayPal Park in
(02:25:53):
San Jose, California, who hit the eightieth minute goal, breaking
the deadlock and bringing home that trophy to Gotham FC.
Speaker 6 (02:26:03):
Trinity Robin was a big story.
Speaker 2 (02:26:05):
In this for the Spirit.
Speaker 21 (02:26:06):
She had been dealing with an MCL sprain and a
right knee for about a month. Coaches before the game
had said this would come down to the quote unquote
main characters, and indeed that's really what we got here
at the end of the day, so not a lot
of scoring in spades, but either way, a hard fought,
scrappy match. We await, of course the MLS Cup final
(02:26:27):
participants that should be coming down here in just a
few days. Now over to Europe where we've talked a
lot about teams in the Premier League who have been
in a spot of trouble and really had some woes
about them.
Speaker 6 (02:26:40):
We haven't really talked much about Liverpool.
Speaker 21 (02:26:42):
Being one of those teams, the reigning champion of the
Premier League who Arnslought's takeover of the club last year
was something of a miracle, as I thought at the
time it was the last hurrah of Liverpool's main core.
They managed to keep a lot of those guys together.
You know, you still see Mohammed Salah, Cody Gacbo going
out there. But a stunning three nihl defeat at home
(02:27:06):
to Nottingham Forest, who is not the Nottingham Forest of
about a year or so ago, really just not has
left Liverpool with six wins and six losses. So that
is a five hundred record, but it's not the most
respectable one, especially when you get points for draws and
has left Liverpool somewhere around eleventh currently as of Saturday
(02:27:29):
evening on the EPL table, a good eight points behind
leader Arsenal, and has left a lot of questions to
be answered in these stunned reactions because we're just not
used to seeing this, and yet Liverpool has kind of had.
Speaker 6 (02:27:46):
This issue for a while.
Speaker 21 (02:27:47):
They had a three nil loss in the Carabell Cup
to Crystal Palace. I think we had talked about that
in a little bit of the past. Then they went
on a bit of a tear. They got their Champions
League win over Real Madrid. They came back and gave
a three nail game to man City, but like, that's
Man City.
Speaker 6 (02:28:03):
You kind of expect something like that.
Speaker 21 (02:28:05):
But Nottingham sits just a point or so above the
relegation zone right now. This is not what we're used
to seeing out of Liverpool and I don't know if
part of this is maybe last year was it Maybe
that was the height of what we would get with
this Liverpool corp.
Speaker 6 (02:28:24):
I will say it's probably too early to panic.
Speaker 21 (02:28:28):
I know at least one veteran of Liverpool X midfielder
Jamie Redknapp, did tell media that he kind of expected
this to happen last year, and that right now is
a time for patients, and that the sac of the
manager panic is not warranted here. And of course, because
when we like to listen to former players talk, do
(02:28:50):
we agree with them?
Speaker 6 (02:28:51):
Do we not agree with them? I kind of agree
with him here at this point.
Speaker 21 (02:28:55):
I know it's in favor across it seems Europe to
set the manager when something's gone wrong. But I think
Arnslought really has made a miracle work with what they've
had there. This has been a rough start for Liverpool,
to say the least. Now there is some context we
should probably start here. First off, Nottingham for us, this
(02:29:16):
is the second time they've come into anfield and whooped
on Liverpool.
Speaker 6 (02:29:20):
It might just be they've got their number.
Speaker 21 (02:29:23):
I will say from watching some of the game itself,
there was some movement that really confused Liverpool on the pitch.
There was disorganized defending from the corners that really let
a couple set pieces really tear Liverpool apart, which have
become more and more of something that is becoming a
(02:29:44):
real study in European soccer. We got to get to
is set pieces, and but the tough thing for me
is just a little bit of their sheer bad luck
when it's come to it, six losses is really tough
to swallow. Man City has four, but everyone else in
front of Liverpool on the table right now only really
has about three. They've now taken two losses at home
(02:30:08):
that are is really tough to process, I think, and
a lot of their wins have been very close Margins.
This is not a Liverpool that's really running away with
things right now.
Speaker 6 (02:30:19):
Either way.
Speaker 21 (02:30:20):
The calendar is about to change December and for Liverpool
they're going to have to really dig deep, have some
meetings and try to figure out what exactly is going wrong.
Because while Arnslott I think is safer right now come
to calendar change to twenty twenty six, that might change
very quickly. This is a nasty business that's going to
do it for us.
Speaker 2 (02:30:38):
Bernie.
Speaker 21 (02:30:38):
Next time on the World of Soccer, MLS announced a
change that is really, really, really significant. We're going to
dive deep into that next time you have with the
World of Soccer.
Speaker 2 (02:30:49):
We began this feature during World Cup twenty twenty two.
It's started late that year in November. If you recall
the day after Thanksgiving, all the anticipation US versus England,
there was a tie and same old, same old. Well,
the World Cup is going to be played in North
American soil this year at games in Los Angeles as well.
Two hundred days away from today the World Cup starts.
(02:31:13):
We covered all on The Bernie Freddle Show, including the
football spelled futbl coming up. We wrap up the show
of some final thoughts. As Shudorf Sanders is now only
about ten hours and twenty two minutes away for making
his debut as a starter, I'll share some quick thoughts.
(02:31:36):
I'm Bernie Fraddle. We are company line from the Las
Vegas Fox Sports Radio Studios. Keep it locked. You're listening

Speaker 2 (02:32:00):
All right, we are wrapping it up on The Bernie
Frattles Show, and I want to thank my producers Mark
and Brandon for other efforts tonight. Really appreciate all the
hard work, tight hitting, all the brakes, everything good, keeping
the plane in the air and keeping us on the air.
For another segment of The Bernie Frattle Show, and yes
(02:32:21):
I will be back next week, already looking forward to it.
I said throughout the show tonight, this is a very
unique NFL season, and it's not trite phraseology. I don't
say things for effect. Case in point, you had three
AFC teams that entered this season as Juggernaut's favorites, behemoths
(02:32:43):
right elite quarterbacks. They're going to rule the roost instead.
And of course the three teams I'm referring to it
I've talked a lot about tonight, the Chiefs, Ravens, and Bills. Well,
they're all on a very similar trajectory in the sense
that you can't count them up, but then they're kind
of fighting for their lives. And it only further emphasizes
how unique in Chiatock the season has been so far.
(02:33:07):
Chiefs the defending AFC champ they lost last week twenty
two to nineteen. Is the clock in zero in Denver.
They are now five and five, the Broncos are nine
and two. They leave the AFC West. The Chiefs still
have a fifty seven percent chance to make the postseason,
but and I will never call this a must win
game on Sunday, because it doesn't work that way. There's
(02:33:28):
stiff many more games after Sunday, and oh, by the way,
thirty one of the thirty two teams will lose the
game they must win, So never make that as your
motivation to bet somebody. I don't think the Chiefs are
going to win the division. That's going to end the
nine year streak. Mahlomes has already taken the blame. They'll
cut them out in the playoffs and I think they'll
be there. But you didn't have them five and five.
(02:33:52):
Baltimore is also five and five. They have won four straight.
They got Lamar Jackson back. They beat the Browns last
week twenty three to sixteen, but very unimpressive. They're only
one game back in Pittsburgh in the ANFC North Soul.
We will see where Baltimore finishes. Buffalo was feeling a
(02:34:13):
little bit better last Sunday at seven and three. They
beat Tampa Bay forty four to thirty two, and I
think their fans will relieved for a minute. Josh Allen
accounted for six touchdowns. They got Gabe Davis wide receiver back,
and then boom they run into Houston on Thursday night.
You saw what happened. That was a very iffy showing.
And they've had more than one if he showing. And
(02:34:35):
interestingly enough, they are not winning their division. New England
is so Buffalo fans are not feeling like they haven't
made just yet. It's an interesting season, not the least
of which we are just hours away from Shudor Sanders
making his NFL debut as a starter in the NFL
(02:35:00):
department redundancy department. He got in for six possessions last week.
And I know everybody wants to make all kinds of excuses.
It is what it is, Okay, no one cares you
got your shot or hard his first first, by the way,
just relaxed. I'm not burying shoot or Sanders here at all,
(02:35:22):
hear me out. But we looked to last week. His
first possession, sack, fumble, punt, second possession through a pick,
third possession, one first down, then sacked in punt, secon
fourth possession, got a first down, then punted, fifth possession
at a grounding penalty and they punted then on the
sixth possession, two first downs and a turnover on downs. Okay,
(02:35:45):
not the end of the world. It's not easy for
a fifth round quarterback, and that's what he is. In
the history of the National Football League, there have been
fifty six occasions where a fifth round quarterback has gotten
a chance to start in the n FILL. All of
those fifty six games, they've won nineteen average passing per
(02:36:06):
game one hundred and thirty five yards, thirty three touchdown,
seventy two interceptions, with a passer rating of fifty four
point two. Well, by the way, now, cam Ward is
not a fifth round quarterback. But a few weeks back,
the Raiders who who Shoodor will start against on Sunday?
In a few hours here in Las Vegas, they hailed
cam Ward out two one hundred and sixty yards passing.
(02:36:29):
He had a QB rating of twelve and a passer
rating of eighty one in a loss, and Shoodoor against
the Raiders Sunday. Here's what's interesting and again why this
makes this a unique season. Remember, Shudor kind of started
out as someone who's seen as a player of privilege
(02:36:49):
and overhyped product of the fact that he's Deon sanders Son.
You know, had a situation where he told everybody he's
going to be a first round pick and frankly he
didn't look like first round pick last week, didn't look
like an NFL quarterback last week. You can talk about
the situation that he didn't have first team wraps, but
he still holds the ball too long, he's in process
(02:37:09):
of what he's seeing, runs out of the back of
the pocket when he's pressured. Those things are on display.
But I got to say it, Chador's got supporters and things.
Man morphed and I had one of the more interesting
midnight Hour segments. We took probably fifteen sixteen calls. It's
per usual lot of support for Shudor, and I get
it because it right before our eyes. Schudor has morphed
(02:37:32):
from this overhyped overdog into an unlikely underdog who now
seemingly has the opportunity of a lifetime right before his eyes.
And it's interesting because I think he Shodor is in
a win win situation. First of all, I actually think
the Browns are gonna win. They're going to beat the
Raiders Sunday. The Browns have a superb defensive front seven,
(02:37:57):
which is going to wreak havoc on Gino's Smith and
Company and the Raiders and Asking genty and all that
kind of st. They had trouble moving the ball against
the Cowboys last week. They don't move the ball against anybody.
The Raiders have really struggled offensively and not so great
(02:38:17):
defensively either, So I actually think Cleveland's the better football team.
I expect Cleveland to actually win the game. Now that
doesn't necessarily mean Shedor is gonna light it up. I
expected to hand the ball to Quinn Shawn Judkins a lot,
but I also expect the Raiders to pack the box
and make it difficult for Shoodoor Sanders. And this is
(02:38:39):
what now I think makes him an underdog. I really
think I'm seeing that because the truth of the matter is,
and I talked to plenty of NFL personnel on scouts,
no one I know said he was going to be
a first rounder. In fact, the only people who seemed
confident that my Shootoor Sanders would be a top ten
(02:39:03):
selection in the draft word Welsh Sanders and his agent,
his PR team and team Sanders, his dad, maybe his brothers,
I don't know some of his friends. He had opportunities
at the Shrine Bowl and the Combine to compete and
to prove he was ready to lead an NFL team
he opted against both. He'd said he claimed his college
tape was all NFL team needed to see. It wasn't,
(02:39:25):
and frankly, his approach to the pre draft process should
be a lesson of what not to do for future quarterbacks.
You don't simply declare yourself something you are and hope
nobody checks you on it. The reality here is that
Sanders is a good football player, a prospect and as
a chance to turn into a functional starter someday as
long as he's got talent around him and a good
(02:39:45):
offensive line. Okay, he's not a first rounder. He didn't
have the arm talent, the size, the pocket presence, the
pocket processing, and he kind of put off people with
his overconfidence and maybe driving a Bentley and Warner rolex.
But some it's a different day. This is where the
perception versus reality meets head on on the field in
(02:40:07):
a game. And then don't tell me, show me situation,
and this starts to work in Shador sanders favor. Okay,
Cleveland Brown's if your name's not Bernie Costar is a
place where quarterbacks go to die. I don't mean die literally.
Even Baker Mayfield took over a team one and thirty
one got out to the playoffs. He's not there anymore.
(02:40:28):
We're going to find out. Maybe we're NFL scouts a
little hard on him. Maybe he's not a first rounder,
but maybe he should have got a second round. Grave
people really wanted to send a draft day message about
him and humility. What for you're trying to win football games.
Maybe the Browns coaching staff hasn't invested that much in
him because maybe they really didn't want him. But tomorrow, today,
excuse me, it's Shadoor Sanders Day, to prove him all wrong.
(02:40:50):
He has got the opportunity of a lifetime, a perfect
opportunity now to show the world what he's been telling
people he really was and is. And it's only one game.
He'll get other opportunities as well. But we're all going
to be watching. I can't wait, and I know you
the same. It's going to do for the Bernie Frattle Show.
And yes, I will be back next week at this
time eleven PM with a jam packed show and lots
(02:41:13):
to talk about. Keep it locked up next to the
great Andy Furman. Fox
