Speaker 1 (00:00):
JNA one, two, three, four games of this late window
in Week twelve, and as Monci just told you, the
Eagles are in the end zone again. This time it's
on the legs of Jalen Hurt. Seven yard touchdown run,
extra point is good. It's a fourteen to nothing lead
for the Philadelphia Eagles. Welcome in. He is Carrie Rhodes,
the All Pro. Find him on Exit Carry twenty five roads.
(00:21):
He can find me at Dan Byer on Fox. When
you look at the coverage maps across the league, Carrie
four Week twelve, and I'm talking about what games are
on what TV sets across the country. There is a
very small portion of the country that is getting Browns
and Raiders. In fact, not even all of Nevada is
getting Browns Raiders today, not even all of Ohio is
(00:43):
getting Browns Raiders.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
But it is on our radar.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
And while much of the country is seeing the America's
Game of the Week on Fox featuring the Eagles and Cowboys,
we do have to start out with what's going on
in Las Vegas. As Shador Sanders is making his first
career start as an NFL quarterback. The Browns are up
fourteen to three, as Monti mentioned midway through the second quarter,
Shador right now is numbers four of seven seventy seven
(01:09):
yards has been picked off once they got on the
end zone, which is interesting. Maybe this is the place
to start. The Browns have scored both of their touchdowns
in wildcat situations where Shador has popped out of the
game in a goal to goal situation and Quinshaw Judkins
has taken the direct snap and has gone in. Gives
them a more physical look. You can have another blocker
(01:31):
in that scenario. But it also, I don't know, it
also allows them to not have their rookie quarterback be
in an uncomfortable situation and turn the ball over where
minimal points I think would be needed to win this game,
and they've cast in with two touchdowns in that wildcat formation.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
Yeah, just an interesting stat I had just saw on TV.
It was the US has had forty five presidents US
presidents since nineteen ninety four. The Cleveland Browns have had
forty five quarterbacks span. They've had forty five starting quarterbacks,
and so how many have had four year terms in Cleveland?
That's that's the question. I really don't think any exactly.
(02:08):
It's been hard pressed to find that guy, that stable
guy in Cleveland.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
But in this game, yeah, we figured that.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
I figured that this would be a prime opportunity for
Sdor to get his first starting you know, his first
starting nod, to have a week full of practice, getting
the number one reps and going into you know, Vegas,
and going into Vegas to play a team that you
know prime was prime to get beat.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
So this gotcha.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
This, this would be a great This would be a
great opportunity for him to come out and shine. And
so right now, the fact that you know he's playing decent,
he's just throw interception, but the Browns are capitalizing and
then getting points early is a is a good sign
for Cleveland. Carry up again, it carry twenty five roads.
You can find me at Dan Byer on Fox. So
much going on, including a huge win for the Detroit
(02:55):
Lions today in comeback fashion against the New York Giants.
Joining us alive from Motown right now, a part of
the team that's Squad Coast seven and oh it's going
to be a short week. Linebacker Derek Barnes joins us
here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Derek, congratulations on the win today.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
How are you.
Speaker 4 (03:12):
I'm good. I think you're playing come out with a win.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
I was I was gonna say it got a little
hairy of that situation. I want you to talk about
your teammate at first, Jamier Gibbs, what's it like going
up against this guy in practice each week? And what's
it like to have him on your side on Sundays?
Speaker 4 (03:27):
Now, I always say that first and fortant most. I
always say like, I'm glad that he's on our team.
And I mean, I mean just a dynamic goal we
had with him and David Man. They can do different things.
And then Jamire may need to let your guy. I mean,
like you just you put the ball in his hands.
I'll make things happen. Man, it was awesome to see.
I mean it always. He's still shocked me, even though
I go becat remember day and practice and you watch
(03:49):
him on Sundays and Saturdays, I mean out Saturdays, but
Thursday night, Monday nights. I mean, just the one we
guya go out there and do that. It's it's unbelievable, man,
It just I mean, I don't expect anything left out
of him, but he's awesome. I mean, I think the
best thing for our defensive is going against going against
him attactors each and every day. I mean, it makes
us better, h makes our got better, makes it easier
on Sundays.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
But no, man, he's phnomous Derek, this carry rose Man
a good game today.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
But I want, I want to talk about your team,
and I want to talk about this situation you guys
in obviously this all these games are meaningful. At this point,
you got to start to stack these wins and and
start getting the momentum going towards where you wanted to go.
But yeah, you got you got to struggle a little
bit against the Giants or did the Giants come out
and play? I want to talk about the game and
did you guys have any kind of a letdown in
this situation?
Speaker 4 (04:35):
No, I mean that we we knew coming in the game.
I mean if you go back and watch you know,
all their games like they've been in every game. I mean,
and it ribbed against any loss. They just you know,
it's who wants to more, who's gonna you know, penalty
wise like, but what team is going to go out
to execute? I think that we did that the last man.
I mean, we knew coming in here is gonna be
a dog five minutes as a great organization over there.
(04:55):
I mean it remsking me twenty twenty one, where you know,
finishing games, where you know, something that we struggled in
and then we found the way and that today that's
what we did. We just found a way to win.
Play comery football, deepense right there, get to stop baits
with a phenomenal kick and then offensive capitalize and then
defense out there again the offense capitalize on. I mean,
what more can you ask? So, I mean when you
(05:15):
when you off they pay to play together like that.
I mean, that's that's It's hard to win this league
than when you do. You have to appreciate those wins.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Yes, Sir, Derek Barnes joining us here on Fox Sports Radio.
Linebacker for the Lions as they get the thirty four
to twenty seven overtime win against the Giants. Jamis Winston
did not make it easy on you guys. What makes
it so difficult to defend a quarterback like Jamis?
Speaker 4 (05:35):
I mean, yeah, you can't. You can't. That's amazing. I
mean he's been in the league for a while. He
knows that he knows the game and now so it's
not one of those games you come in and you
think that you have a backup quarterback plan, you can
you know, you have to steal play through your standard.
Uh Man, he came out. You know, he did what
we thought he was going to do. I mean he
creative play, got the ball out super fast, found the
guys down the field. I mean it was a dolls fight,
(05:56):
and you know we just had to buffle up and
you know, I wouldn't say that it was a rising,
but you know, if you know things better clean up
at the defense for sure. But I mean when you
go up and get a better run like that, you
don't know what they expect, and you know he's ready
for everything.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
So yeah, So right, Derek, you guys got six more games.
You guys are seven and four. I know you guys
have big goals over there. I know. I you know
a lot of people picked you guys to to be
the team that could be possibly representing the NFC. And
so what do you guys have to do from this
point on to finish where you guys want to want
to go, want to get to.
Speaker 4 (06:25):
I would say to continue with the sac day, continue
to go back to the drawing board, and you know,
eliminate you know the small teams, I know for defense,
wanting the advertised they're supposed to plays. I think that's
what got us in trouble today, to make it make
the game of dog fight which you're supposed plays. I mean,
eliminate those and those guys the limit. I mean, we
became with a great plan. I just you know, everybody,
all the guys finishing and doing their job and executing
(06:47):
what you know, what our coach is putting place for
us throughout the week. I would just say that continue to,
you know, grow, continue to you know, eliminate to the state,
go back to the draw on board and pick the
small you know, the correct balls, and you know, and
treat every week like this, you know, like everything's on
the line, which it is for us and uh and
we know that, and there's no doubt in my mind
that we won't, you know, pick it up and going
(07:08):
around here. So that's who we're expecting out of, out
of all of us.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
So, Derek, it's not like you're going to be a
coach after this. I mean it sounds like you're taking
a lot of your own things. But is this a
lot of your head coach's influence and you guys. The
love that you guys have for.
Speaker 5 (07:21):
Him, no doubt.
Speaker 4 (07:22):
I think that you know, Dan has installed you know,
that grit inside of us. And that's true. I know
we said a lot, but it's true. I mean, I mean,
you go by, He's got us on the team. I mean,
everybody is the same, everybody wants the same thing, everybody
has the same goal. And we had a group of
guys like that. I mean, the guys that the limbit.
I mean, we we know going in you know it's
it's you know, we we never plan together. We get
any situations, uh, you know where we lose, and we
(07:44):
know how to get back to you know, have to
go back to the next week and you know, kind
of put that in the past and just move on
and continue to grow, continue to get better each and
every weekend. You know, that's something that damnased all of us.
And you know, he doesn't panding. We have a coach
that you know doesn't panding, you know, post compendence back
into the player and I let them get down. So yeah,
we you know, we got the rest of the season.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
We have to continue to just to get better each
and every week, all right, before we let you go
do you like playing on Thanksgiving with the short week
coming up, especially in such a key game against Green Bay?
Speaker 4 (08:13):
Of course, no doubt. I remember watching as a young
child and no dream to play on these days, and
luckily I get to do that. Super signing not to
be able to play on a holiday and relact with
the family out the worst. Now it's the game they
can look forward to.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
Well, get some rass big win today. We appreciate it
and we'll yeah, we'll be watching it on Thanksgiving. Thanks Derek.
Derek Lions linebacker Derek Barnes after the Lions were able
to survive today against the Giants, I think that's the
best way to put it. I mean, they came back,
got the win. We were able to pull even at
the end. Giants in a situation Carrie had a three
(08:46):
point lead and go for it on a goal to
go situation, don't get the points and the Lions are
able to drive down. They ultimately kicked the X excuse me,
kick the game tying field goal. In that scenario, then
you get the big touchdown run from Jamior Gibbs in
the first play from overtime. But Jamis Wonzerland. The Giants
(09:07):
did not make it easy on the Lions today.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
Jamons Winston is just a gamer man, and obviously we've
seen a lot of high lights with him in his career,
but you know, the thing about him is always those
low lights being infused into the conversation when he plays.
But man, when he plays, your team has a chance
to win, and he's going to be exciting.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
Yea. I don't even think his guys know what he's
going to do a lot of times in those games,
but you know they fought for him.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
He comes out and gets them motivated to play. Eton
had a touchdown catch where he looked a little fleet
of foot, which he's not known for. But it was
a good game for them, and the Giants have nothing
to lose, and so you know those games are always tricky.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
Were you surprised that the Giants won? For it up three,
there's three minutes to go, your fourth and goal at
the six yard line. Touchdown basically does put the game
away field goal.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
You're only up.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
Six, but Detroit does have to score. They've showed they
can move the ball. Did Mike Kafk and his team
make the right decision?
Speaker 3 (10:02):
I think Mike, Mike Kafka and those guys did the
right thing. You know, I'm an old school guy and
would like to take the points. But you know, up
by six against the Lion, yeah, they're gonna you know,
you're putting the ball in golf and that that high
octained offense's hands, and so you don't want.
Speaker 4 (10:16):
To do that.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
Yeah, if you get that play, maybe a score.
Speaker 6 (10:19):
Chris Purfett, I think that that's not really the coaching
the decision I really have an issue with. I think
it was going to overtime. I don't know if you
saw this, but the Giants won the coin toss and
they deferred.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
Yeah, that's what most teams are doing now. Is that
what they're doing now?
Speaker 1 (10:35):
Because and this so the right and score like Gibbs
does on the first play, then the Giants know what
they have to do.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
They know that they have to score a touchdown. Yep.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
So every play is obviously going to be fourth down
and you actually have an opportunity to win it and
go for two at the end. It's actually was happened
in Super Bowl fifty eight when the rule was the
postseason rule when both teams are getting possession. Yeah, it
came to fruition and even at that point, I was.
I was kind of like to Chris's point, I thought, man,
why is everybody making a big deal that Kansas City
(11:09):
ended up getting the ball second. The Niners took the
ball first in that scenario. Yeah, And that's just getting
my head around it.
Speaker 6 (11:14):
Still, it just feels like you'd rather, like, you know,
go down the field and if you hold them to
a you know, if you get a field goal first,
it's like, all right, well, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
It feels like you set the pace with the first
a look at it. Like the college game. Everybody wants
to defense first so they know what they have to
do on their possession. And that's the same thing in
this scenario. Even though it's a little bit it's a
timed format. You're not getting the ball at the twenty
five yard line, but that's the that's the thinking now.
The thinking is to defer and get the football second,
(11:48):
so then you know what to do in those situations.
There were some that thought that the game was over
when Jamior Gibbs scored on his touchdown or on it,
but no.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
We've got that.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
And and by the way, because it happened so quickly,
Giants had all the time in the world. What we've
seen a lot in these overtimes is a team gets
a first possession, takes four or five minutes off the clock,
maybe kicks a field goal, scores a touchdown. The other
team only has three or four minutes to do what
they have to do. Yeah, right, like immediately. So there's
a little bit of strategy built in in that scenario
(12:20):
as well, But that would be the reason in thinking
for it a lot more. We're seeing it a lot
more of these scenarios pop up. The one that is
becoming more and more popular is down fourteen, you score, to.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
Go down eight and then go for two.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
I think we saw that in the college game yesterday
as well, but we're seeing it more and more just
stat wise.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
You think that's the analytic stuff coming in to play
there more than coaching.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
That is one hundred percent, because it's a fifty to
fifty shot that they're saying you're going to get a
two point conversion. So if you don't get the first one,
you can get the second one, and if you do
get it the first time in that fifty to fifty scenario,
you then can kick the e xra point. Shaudor Sanders
had a wide open Jerry Judy. Judy, not realizing what
was happening behind him, kind of slowed up trying to
(13:08):
juke some Raiders defenders had the football knocked out from
his hands and the Raiders have now recovered. So a
Browns turnover. Jerry Judy just kind of lost his I
don't know whereabouts didn't realize Jeremy Chin was running up
behind him. So a big pass play from Shador to
the Browns that would have had them in Raiders territory
almost down to the twenty yard line instead turns into
(13:31):
a turnover. So the Raiders down eleven fourteen to three
with three point fifty to go intil the half now
get the football. It's the second Browns turnover of the game. Earlier,
Shador Sanders ended up having an interception, not one of
his better throws. But Shador's looked fine so far in
the first two quarters of this contest. Let's to thank
Shay our producers thinking right now, I think he's having
(13:55):
a good time to go to that. Miles Garrett Jersey,
I want to ask you this question. Mancie and I
were in earlier this week here on Fox Sports Radio.
If you were Shadoor and you're facing a gettable Raiders defense.
Is that better for him in the long run or
would you have rather face a more formidable foe if
you were Shador in your I know beggars can't be
(14:16):
choosers here, but it's I find this matchup interesting because
I really like the Browns to win this game today
because of how good their defense is. Yes, and Shador
has provided enough offense for them he and Quinn Shawn
Judkins to be able to have this eleven point lead.
But if you were going up against did you want
to see the real deal or do you kind of
like this soft launch against this suspect Raiders defense.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
Oh, give me the cotton candy game. Let me go
in there and get four hundred yards pass and then
looked like I'm good for a week.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
Mon Monzie and I were different, or like start blow,
don't set expectations too high, and then come out after
that and then blow everybody away for the next couple
of weeks.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
No, Dan, I wanted to come out and throw for
nine hundred year and put the boom boom box on
the shoulders.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
That's what I want.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
Well, Hey, Deon's at the game today.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
He's up in the box watching and so far is
so good for the Browns and shud Or Sanders as
they're up fourteen to three and the Raiders they were
able to force the turnover, did nothing with it three
and out, so they'll punt it back to Cleveland.
Speaker 7 (15:18):
Now.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
Will be interesting to see what the Browns do with
the football with two thirty and two timeouts up to
go before the half and maybe put Shador in two
minute mode. Eagles continue to lead the Cowboys fourteen to nothing.
That's early in the second quarter. Bam Night a touchdown
run for the Cardinals. They're up on the Jaguars fourteen
to ten, about four minutes to go until halftime and
that contest and Kirk Cousins is throwing a touchdown pass
(15:40):
to David Sills. Falcons lead the Saints by a score
of ten to nothing that game. Also in the second quarter,
he's carry roads.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
I'm Dan Byer.
Speaker 1 (15:48):

he sneaks here, touchdown Eagles, second touchdown for Jayalen Hurts.
Speaker 7 (17:38):
On the day.
Speaker 10 (17:38):
Back to Dan Byer and Carry Rhoades.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
All Eagles right now.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
Ninety four WYP and the Eagles Radio Network up twenty
one to nothing on the Cowboys in Dallas, so they
just converted a third and three so they get into
Eagles territory, but down three scores. We mentioned that Shador
and the Browns were up on the Raiders, and when
we took a time out, the Raiders were punting the
ball back to Cleveland. The Browns able to do nothing
(18:05):
on that drive. They punted it right back, So there's
thirty five seconds left. Raiders have the football, but it's
the Browns up fourteen to three with thirty five seconds
left to go until halftime. The Raiders right now have
the football nearing midfield, so there could be an opportunity
for them to get some points here at the end
(18:25):
of the half. They don't have any timeouts, so they're
gonna have to be smart with how they possess the
football here the Falcons and Saints. The Falcons were driving
and now we've got a turnover in New Orleans that
has turned into points for the Saints. So justin Reid,
(18:46):
is this a fumble or an interception? Can we get
Brie was that interception pick six six? So kirk Cousins,
who through the touchdown pass earlier, now has the turnover
and the Saints back in their content.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
Yeah, he giveth and he taketh.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
That's what Kirk Cousins does right now in his career.
He's going to make a couple of plays, but he's
also going to give it back to the other team
and Justin Reed made a great play. But Dan, I
got a question for you right now, in this current season,
if you could build the perfect defense and the perfect
offense and put them together, what units from what teams
would you choose to be the perfect team right now?
(19:23):
I'm just saying that because I'm watching Cleveland right now,
and if they had any kind of offense throughout this year,
they'd be a really good team.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
What two units would you put together?
Speaker 1 (19:33):
There's that's a really good question, And I'm not stalling here,
but I am stalling in a way like there's a
way that almost says like Bengals offense right like you
get Joe Burrow back because they're just dumping down the field.
Dallas's offense doesn't right now, they're not scoring against Philadelphia,
(19:53):
doesn't help. I would take the Rams offense, and honest sleep,
I'd probably take the Seahawks defense, even though the Titans
ended up making it a game against them. I really
think that when push comes to show, like Cleveland, to
your point, would be one of those Christopher want.
Speaker 4 (20:15):
In on this.
Speaker 6 (20:15):
Yeah, I was gonna say, whole control room here thought
you were going to go Texans.
Speaker 1 (20:19):
Oh, that's a good one. Yeah, that's recency bias and
watching dominate Josh Allen as a whole.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
I still would. I would, Yeah, I would take Seattle.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
That's interesting when you watch it because it's like this
season has been so tricky and so like we talk
about parody, but I think it's been a combination of
parody and bad football as well. But when you watch
certain teams, the fact that they have such a divide,
a big gap of what the offense of the defense
can do, it's it's it's crazy, it's a problem.
Speaker 1 (20:51):
I think in the National Football League, it's why the
Chiefs are are who they are. I think it's why
every team is who they are. You have to make
certain decision in certain spots and live with those decisions
on what you're investing in and how you're investing in
where that money is going. And I don't know if
(21:11):
it's if it's because of the of salary cap. I
don't know if it's quarterback salaries, but there is the reason.
I mean, the salary cap would be the first point
of it. But you and I have talked about as well,
is I don't like how this game has been so
dominated by quarterbacks. And I don't know if that's because
(21:32):
of the of the salary situations, because quarterbacks can cover
up so many blemishes that you may have on your team,
or if it's because of rule changes in the National
Football League where everything has become offensive Leyden Now teams
are more willing to pass than ever thinking about establishing
the run, I don't have those answers, And honestly, Carrie,
(21:56):
it's something that I've thought about a lot. It's kind
of a chicken in the egg scenario. And I'm glad
that you asked asked me the question because I have
wondered the reason why I picked the Rams to be
the best team in the National Football League. And I
don't want to make this sound like it's a Homer caveat,
but if Sam Darnold doesn't turn the ball over four
times and they know punted at the half yard line,
(22:17):
they're probably not winning last week. But I think that
the Rams have the best concoction of offensive and defensive
unity together. Talent wise, it's probably the Philadelphia Eagles in
both cases offense and defense. They just haven't been able
to put it together on both sides of the football
until maybe today. But it looks like the Cowboys are
knocking out of the door here. They got a first
(22:39):
and goal situation at the two yard line, they got
it down to about the one. But I think that's
actually a reason why we have so much parody in
the league. To your point, is because we don't know
no team can be magnificent on offense and defense.
Speaker 3 (22:51):
Yeah you talk about yeah, you talk about talent. Yes,
the Eagles have a lot of names and a lot
of talent for sure. And offensively they're I mean, you
would just think they're going to have to figure it out.
They got too many weapons, right, But it seems like
their defense of taking it taking a big step right
now as well. I mean, we knew that they lost
a lot of players in the off season, so I
think they did start off a little slow, But the
(23:11):
last couple of games they've been dominating. But even with
this game right now, the way the Cowboys can score,
I don't think it's over yet. Obviously it's twenty one nothing,
but yeah, this game still can be interesting as we as.
Speaker 1 (23:22):
We move forward. There's we don't see it as much,
but there is a could be a Super Bowl hangover,
even for a champion. Sure, sometimes there's motivation there's the
we've made it to the top of the mountain, do
you really have the desire to succeed the next year?
And I think that those things do play in. I mean,
Kansas City gets a huge, huge win today, but I
(23:42):
just don't know how you can watch Kansas City and
think that how they play is sustainable. And over the
last couple of years we've seen them seemingly take a
step back offensively, but it's their defense that has stepped up,
and the defense right now stepping up for the Philadelphia Eagles.
They just picked off Dak Prescott in the end zone.
Oh no, did they? Yes?
Speaker 7 (24:01):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (24:01):
Man?
Speaker 1 (24:02):
After a false start for Dallas backed them up to
the six yard line. I hold Dak Prescott just through
an interception in the end zone, so the Eagles will
take over first and ten of they're twenty. The Cowboys
unable to get points. But I got fortunate there. That
was a whole by the ego dB, but I didn't
call it. So it's a big play. And I was
(24:22):
about to say something that song. Do you agree with
my thinking that I shouldn't say agree because I can't
figure it out. What do you think is the reason
why we don't see an offensive and defensive dominant team
in the National Football League. For as great as the
Cowboys were with Troy Emmett and Michael Irvan in their
offensive line, they also were really good defensively. The forty
(24:45):
nine er teams of the eighties and nineties, Montana, Rice
Craig Young, you know, however you want to put it,
also had really really good defensive teams.
Speaker 2 (24:56):
We don't have those anymore.
Speaker 3 (24:58):
I'll give you the answer, and I think it's obviously
we have to we have to really do some check,
some fact checking to get into it. Those teams were
built to be sustainable offensively and defensively. Right, So we
have weapons, we can score ninety two points. If we
want to talk about the forty nine ers that of
the nineties, right, we know they can score a lot.
(25:20):
Their defensive construction was geared and constructed towards the offense. Right,
So if we're gonna score points, that means that teams
are gonna be in situations that they're gonna have to
pass the ball, They're gonna have to do certain like
when you think about how you construct the team, like
it has to be complementary. If we're gonna score ninety
points and we're gonna score we need to have edge rushers,
we need to have really good dbs. On those forty
(25:42):
nine er teams, they had both, and so even if
they had a game where it was kind of tough
and they had to run the ball, they could do that.
Garrison Hurst or you know, even Ricky Ward or Rickie
Warners at certain times like they were built to do both.
They're built obviously offensive offensive line, defensive line is huge,
and they had both of those as well. But it
has to be complimentary. Nowadays in the game, it's so
(26:05):
much about scoring points and teams are trying to score
points to win that they're neglecting the roster build up.
You can have talents of people all you want on
teams if it's not constructed the right way. You can
have Trey Hendrilson for the Cincinnati Bengals who can rush
the passer, but if you can't stop anything else and
you're not built fundamentally sound in those other positions.
Speaker 2 (26:25):
It doesn't matter. So which is why Jerry Jones didn't
pay Micah Parsons. That's what he says.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
He ultimately did have an offer, then they backed off,
But that's his that's been his argument, and that's it.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
I mean, when you think about the teams you just named,
they're built that way. Dan See.
Speaker 1 (26:40):
I think the reason why I tend to lean that's
it's more offense and it's more about the quarterback is
because and it actually has to do with the Cowboys
and forty nine Ers. When you look at what the
Cowboys were during the Jimmy Johnson and then the very
Switzer Super Bowl win, it was Troy a man, it
was Emmett Smith, it was their great Nate Newton offensive line.
(27:05):
You know all of their throughout the years. But it
started with Emmett. It started with running of football. The
forty nine ers with Joe Montana, Bill Walsh for a while,
Mike Congren then Mike Hongren goes to the Packers West
Coast offense. Those passes out to the backfield, out of
(27:27):
the backfield were in place of runs. Yes, right to
hit a Roger Craig to hit, Ricky Waters to hit
in Green Bay, Dorsey Levens. For those short passes. Those
replaced running plays. So now we're putting more onus on
the quarterback. Now you're having more stuff advantageous for the quarterback.
To answer your question about today, I think you could
(27:48):
make a really good argument that if Sam Donald doesn't
turn the ball over as much as he does, the
Seahawks would be that team in the NFL where offensively
and defensively they together. And that's a team that really
doesn't focus on running the football, right, So it's more
and that's been the argument that Greg Olsen has made
(28:08):
over the last couple of weeks is teams now aren't
running the pass. They're using the pass game to set
up holes if they want to run the football. So
the Seahawks today have a lead against the Titans, which
is a perfect example. They can't just hand it off
to Kenneth Walker the third and Zach Charbaday and Milk
six minutes off the clock. So like that's not every
team is perfect, but I think it's because so much
(28:30):
is being put on offense and how you're going to
succeed in that way.
Speaker 3 (28:34):
And Dan, think about this this one more caveat before
we get whore we go to time out here, But
the if you do what you just said, if you're
able to run the ball and you're actually able to
consume time of possessing.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
Who does that help as well. The defense.
Speaker 3 (28:47):
The defense is gonna be fresh, They're gonna come around,
flying around. You scored and want to play with a
big play with Jamar Chase. The defense is back on
the field. Like those things have to be complimented. I'm
not saying don't score those big plays, but you can't
live that way or for holes and expect your defense
to be good playing the amount of snaps they play.
Speaker 1 (29:03):
Did you have an answer in your head? I who
you thought the best offense and defense when you asked them.
I appreciate that they thought Texans, But yeah, I think
that the Seahawks defense is really good and honestly with
what Cleveland does. I mean, if you could put Miles
Garrett as part of that conversation, right, like, they are
(29:25):
really really good defense, really really good. Yeah, and I
would just I would just take the Rams in all
the different weapons they've gotten, the in the veteran quarterback, and.
Speaker 2 (29:32):
The Rams won the ball well too. Yes, you know,
like it's such a balance. Same. Yeah, he's carried roads.
I'm dan Byer.
Speaker 1 (29:38):
Let's go over to Manzi. Blaanios is giving us the
latest of what's happening in these late games. Wasted opportunity
by the Cowboys as they take on the Eagles.
Speaker 5 (29:45):
Monzi, It's true, It's true, and maybe I'm crazy. Yesterday
I text my co hosts Martin. I was like, Martin,
these cowboys are making us sound real dumb because we
both like the Cowboys to possibly pull off an upset.
You know, the way Dak Prescott has played in Diovisi
games at home, he's usually pretty good. No, they have
scored big, fat zero points. The Eagles are up twenty
(30:07):
one zero in this one. Late in the second quarter,
Jalen Hurts has rushed for two touchdowns. He has thrown
a touchdown to AJ Brown. He is thirteen of nineteen
for one hundred and sixty four yards. Also, coming down
to the final two minutes, where the Falcons are leading
Breeze Saints ten to seven, is the score there. Kirk
Cousins already with the pick six, but he also has
a touchdown, so there's that. At the half, the Cardinals
(30:29):
are leading the Jaguars fourteen to ten, and the Browns
are on top of the Raiders in Las Vegas fourteen
to three. Shadoor Sanders in his first NFL official start.
He is seven of eleven, one hundred and twenty seven
yards and an interception so far in this one. What
happened earlier today, Well, the Patriots won. They won nine
in a row for the first time since twenty fifteen.
They defeated the Bengals twenty six to twenty. But hey,
(30:51):
the Bengals were letting you score thirty seven points for
like every week. They kept him to twenty six. So
Bengals are trying.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
They're improving, They're trying.
Speaker 2 (30:59):
Patriots are doing everything to not to score there literally.
Speaker 5 (31:02):
Yes, no, yeah, so but yeah, Chiefs walked it off.
You guys just discussed it. It wasn't pretty, but the
Chiefs walked it off with the field goal to defeat
the Colts in overtime twenty three to twenty. Seahawks outscored
the Titans thirty to twenty set to twenty four. Excuse me,
Jackson Smith and Jigba. He had eight catches, one hundred
and sixty seven yards and two touchdowns. He's the first
wide receiver in NFL history to have seventy five or
(31:24):
more receiving yards in each of his team's first eleven
games of the season. He has the most receiving yards
in a single season in Seahawks franchise history. He is
at three hundred and thirteen eleven games.
Speaker 1 (31:35):
Right, This is my argument of what we're talking about
an MVP. Right, Like this is if Sam Donald is
only throwing the Jackson Smith in Jigbo, how are Sam
Donald's odds shorter than what JSN should be?
Speaker 10 (31:49):
Right?
Speaker 5 (31:50):
That makes no sense. That makes no sense. Packers rolled
past the Vikings twenty three to six. Ravens top the
Jets twenty three to ten. Bears defense held on to
beat the Steelers thirty one tow Caleb Williams nineteen of
thirty five, two hundred and thirty nine yards and three touchdowns.
And the Lions and the Giants. That was a fun game.
You got a flea flicker, you got Jameis Winston putting
on a show. But the Lions defense Aiden Hutchinson specifically
(32:13):
sacking Jameis Winston fourth and whatever it was in overtime.
So Lions win it in overtime, thirty four to twenty seven.
Jamior Gibson this one fifteen carries tw hundred and nineteen yards,
two touchdowns. He also caught a touchdown pass. Thank you.
My fantasy team is happy about that. Also, Giants are
the first team eliminated from playoff contention. Whoa, yess no,
(32:35):
the Giants lost today with that loss, I know they yes, thirty,
that's still apparently. Oh wow, they're the first team according
to the bleacher report that they tweet it.
Speaker 1 (32:45):
Yep, right here, Yeah, NFL playoff picture.
Speaker 7 (32:49):
Well there you go.
Speaker 5 (32:50):
Yeah, out the New York Giants. Lastly, here guys, there's
a trade in baseball that just went down. ESPN reporting
the Mets and the Rangers have finalized the trade that
is sending second Marcus Simeon to the Mets and outfielder
Brandon Nimmel is headed to the Rangers.
Speaker 2 (33:06):
Yeah that's pretty big.
Speaker 5 (33:07):
Yeah, back to you.
Speaker 1 (33:07):
Guys, Thank you very much. Man it is end Zone
Radio on Fox Sports Radio. You could find Manzi at
Manci Milanos. You can find Carry at Carrie twenty five Roads.
You can find me at Dan Byer on Fox. Just
to put just an end to this question that you
pose when the other side of the glass, Brianna muro
our executive producer, and Chris Purfett, or technical producer, are
(33:29):
saying Texans is the defense. I think it's I think
the Texans are absolutely would be a nominee for the
best defense right now in the National Football League. And
for as bad as things were for the Buffalo Bills
on Thursday, they run a trick play on fourth and
long converted and still are in Houston territory with an
opportunity to win the game. And so like these the
(33:53):
dominant defenses that you know, even the best defenses are
doing it maybe one way or another. Maybe they're sacking
the quarter back, they're forcing turnovers in a certain way.
But I just don't think you're seeing the dominant defenses.
And no one's ever going to be the eighty five Bears,
but I would even say that it's the defenses maybe
right now aren't even up to what we saw a
decade ago with Legion of Boom or what the Ravens
(34:15):
would put together. I just think it's a different way
to play defense. Defense is now sometimes like, yeah, we're
going to give up a touchdown. You know we're going
to give up a driving You would know better than
anybody else. I don't know if that mindset was there
in the National Football League, But now, unless you're facing
a really offensively an inept offense, to like go to
a game, thinking you're not going to give up a
(34:36):
touchdown or two. I think now is rare when back
then that was the ultimate goal, just keep them out
of the end zone. And now you're like, well, then
we scored twice on us, they only scored ten, Like
that's a win.
Speaker 3 (34:45):
Oh no, no, no, you're completely correct. My last year
in New York, we were number one defense in the league,
and we went to every game saying, no, they're not
scoring at all, right, and.
Speaker 1 (34:54):
We would accomplish that sometimes.
Speaker 3 (34:56):
But yeah, I don't see any defense right now that
can compare it to even our twenty ten defense. And
you talk about the Legion, the Boom and all those guys,
they were great, but right now you said, like there's
some there's just weaknesses all across the board when it
comes to having a complete unit anywhere. And we talk
about the Rams, We talked about them being a really
good defense, but their corner situation is not ideal either.
(35:17):
And so when you think about it, it's just you know,
you're gonna have to have you're gonna have to play
complimentary football to win.
Speaker 1 (35:22):
Yeah, So Eagles up on the Cowboys twenty one or nothing.
Dallas just got a big play from Cavante Turpin. So
they're in Ego's territory again down near the red zone.
He's carry Roads. I'm Dan Byer, look at fantasy numbers.
Next on end zone radio.
Speaker 10 (35:35):
Browns a Raiders first and ten for Cleveland and Shoulders
Sanders on his own twenty eight back to throw.
Speaker 1 (35:40):
He rolls out to his right eyes down field.
Speaker 10 (35:42):
Pressure coming settle stop open man? Oh man?
Speaker 7 (35:45):
Is he open? Inside the forty shootings? The ball holked out.
Speaker 10 (35:49):
HiT's on the turf with the twenty four Raiders outs
on it once again. Here's Dan Bayer and carry Rhodes.
Speaker 2 (35:57):
Raider Nation Radio with the call.
Speaker 1 (35:59):
One of the few things that it's gone right for
the Raiders today is they're getting beaten by Shadoor Sanders
and the Browns fourteen to three. Playing in the third quarter.
The Cowboys just got into the end zone. Dak Press
got a touchdown pass to George Pickens from a couple
of yards out. It's twenty one to seven and Trebor
Lawrence just to interception in the red zone.
Speaker 2 (36:18):
Oh not good.
Speaker 1 (36:20):
May have been tipped, but the Cardinals continue to hold
on to that fourteen to ten lead, keeping the Jags
out of the end zone and the Falcons have a
thirteen to seven lead on the Saints. And just quickly,
as part of our discussion about what is what is
the reason maybe while we're not seeing the dominant teams,
the salary cap is a big reason why at nineteen
ninety four that comes into play. So there is obviously
(36:43):
a limit. But the question is how can teams are
you paying your quarterback? Is it a necessity to play
a pay a quarterback? And now with how the game
has showed tilted offensively, you think like, well, we got
to make sure that we have our quarterback. Now, I
think we're starting to see a bit of a turn
towards the other way of maybe not paying guys. You know,
Russell Wilson didn't necessarily work out. The Raiders ended up
(37:05):
trading for Gino Smith. That's not working out. I'm sure
the Dolphins regret their too a signing. So those are
things that, you know, all come into play when we're
talking about why we haven't seen those dominant teams. I'll
tell you who is dominant. Moncey Blanios. And she's got
some fantasy numbers.
Speaker 10 (37:22):
Fantasy heads.
Speaker 1 (37:24):
And I've always said Manzi leads Fox Sports Radio in
people that want to talk to her. She's like the
most popular person. I mean, everybody loves to talk to Manzi.
She's here with some fantasy Ye thanks, guys.
Speaker 5 (37:37):
I do have an open tour. I have an open
door policy, Yes I do. Okay, let's start here with
the quarterbacks, because I'm sure everyone had this guy at
the top of their list going into Sunday's games. Jamis Winston.
That's right, that's right. He is the top quarterback of
the day so far. So far, he's got thirty five
points because he threw for three hundred and sixty six
(37:58):
yards and two touchdowns. He had an inner eption, but
then he also caught a touchdown pass. He was doing
it all. It was so much fun to watch that
Giants and Lions game. The next quarterback would be Caleb Williams.
He gave you about twenty seven points. He threw for
two hundred and thirty nine yards, three touchdowns, no picks.
A clean game for Caleb Williams. Honorable mention because I've
never set this guy's name coming at number three. Cam
(38:18):
Ward Yeah, card the welcome to the party, twenty five guys,
I think exactly right, right, he threw for two hundred
and fifty six yards and a touchdown. He also had
a touchdown on the ground, so cam Ward is top
three in quarterbacks so far for the day. When it
comes to running backs, I don't think anyone's going to
catch up to what Jamiir Gibbs did today, giving you
(38:41):
about fifty four points fifteen carries, two hundred and nineteen yards,
two touchdowns plus eleven catches for forty five yards and
a touchdown. Fifty four points for the top one, coming
to a number two second place, Emmanuel Wilson with twenty
five points. He had twenty eight carries, one hundred and
seven yards and two touchdowns. When it comes to the
wide receiver, I think we all know it is Jackson
(39:01):
Smith and Jigba thirty six points today, eight catches, one
hundred and sixty seven yards and two touchdowns. But not
too bad after Jackson Smith and Jigba, jan Dale Robinson
thirty points, nine catches, one hundred and fifty six yards
and a touchdown. Those are some of your fantasy hits
of the day.
Speaker 1 (39:19):
They has some giant performances literally literally literally for our
hits today, the Browns on the third and twelve, unable
to pick up the first down, but get maybe in
the area of go for it territory. But again when
you've got their defense just punted away right, Yes, old
school football, Dan, it's coming back. Maybe it's coming back.
(39:41):
The Browns are gonna punt it from the Raiders about
forty two yard line. So try to pin the Raiders
back deep in that fourteen to three game. So he
told you carry, pointing out the interception for the Cardinals
in the end zone. But Arizona's got the football facing
a third and four again early in the third with
the ball at the twenty six yard line. They're on
twenty six yard line. Just a couple of minutes gone
(40:03):
by in the second half. He is carry roads, finding mit,
carry twenty five roads. You can find me at Dan
Byer on Fox. If the Browns put twenty points on
the board, twenty one, this game is over. Oh it's
a wrap. There's no way Geno Smith and that offense
is going to score enough points.
Speaker 2 (40:19):
No, it's it's not gonna happen.
Speaker 1 (40:21):
So you have the Raiders on a short week and
the Cowboys they got a unique schedule. They played Monday,
play today and then they're gonna have to play Thursday, Yeah,
on Thanksgiving Day. So yeah against the Chiefs. That's gonna
be a tough one. A Chiefs team coming off that
big win against the Colts today. You got a chiropractor
number for those guys. Then I too, Actually I do.
I'm gonna get to the historic nature of Shador Sanders start.
(40:43):
That's coming up next here on End Zone Radio in
week twelve on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 10 (40:49):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 1 (40:52):
We turned the page to hour two here on Fox
Sports Radio, and the Jaguars are in the end zone
coming back from that awful turnover. Jacoby Myers, the newly
acquired Jacoby Myers catch you at touchdown pass from Trevor
Lawrence extra point.
Speaker 2 (41:07):
We await that.
Speaker 1 (41:08):
But at sixteen fourteen Jaguars midway through the third quarter
in Arizona against the Cardinals, he is Kerry Rhodes the
All Pro final mat Carrie twenty five roads. You could
find me at dan Byer on Fox. So despite the turnover,
the Cardinals couldn't do anything with the football, giving Jacksonville
a good field position and they finally do cash it
in the.
Speaker 3 (41:27):
Jaguars that are in a situation where they cannot lose.
They cannot lose with the Cardinals. It doesn't matter where
they are playing. So the bounce back after the tipped interception,
deflected interception and get Indians on a third down too
big play with a big big boots for the Jaguars
right now.
Speaker 1 (41:44):
I had a category that I used to do on
Fox Sports Radio where there was one game a week
that would pit an AFC or NFC team. Sometimes you know,
we gave team. We don't have that, but I call
it will never be a super Bowl. You will never
see these two teams play each other in a Super Bowl.
It would be Jacksonville Arizona would be you're not gonna
(42:06):
see Welcome to Super Bowl seventy eight. Arizona comes in
fourteen and four because we're going on an eighteen game
schedule and the Jaguars are sixteen and two. Welcome into
Wembley Stadium here in London, Like, You're never going to
see that. Like in the future, the Jaguars and Cardinals,
the football gods just wouldn't allow it.
Speaker 3 (42:25):
I'm calling it, Dan twenty thirty six, the Cardinals versus
the Jaguars, and the Jaguars are going to win the
Super Bowl in twenty thirty six.
Speaker 1 (42:33):
Will never will never be a super Bowl. And when
you go through the history of super Bowls now, it's
easy to say because the Jaguars have never been there
and the Cardinals have only been to the one super Bowl.
But when you go through the history of the Super Bowl,
there are a few ones that you're just like, huh,
(42:54):
and I felt despite the Rams recent success with Sean
McVeigh and their two Super Bowl appearances, but it felt
like the Rams Titans won with Kurt Warner. Oh, that
was kind of a that was a weird, yeah super Bowl.
The Ravens have have stamped their approval, so even the
Ravens Giants one and the Giants with their history them
going to Super Bowl wasn't as crazy. But when you
(43:16):
look out through history, you'll kind of say, huh, I
didn't never thought that that would actually be a super Bowl.
They're random, random ones, but that's the ones that stands
out for me, and that was one of the better
super Bowls that we've had. Yeah, that Ram Titans won.
Speaker 3 (43:28):
Definitely, When you think about it now, it's like, oh, okay, yeah,
that that seems a little weird. And at the time though,
if you think about it, both of the quarterbacks and
that situation are really really, really really good quarterbacks.
Speaker 2 (43:39):
Yeah, great quarterbacks, right, and so you.
Speaker 1 (43:40):
Know you could see them. And it took the miracle
for the Titans to make it, Yes, the miracle in
what was it called the Yeah, the Music City Marriage.
Thank you there you go. Couldn't get that get then?
And of course the Titans beat the Jaguars in the
AFC Championship game. That's right to go to that super
is that Mark Brunel and those guys, Yes, yes, yes,
after they destroyed the Dolphins who beat the Seahawks, and yes,
(44:05):
as to them when the Seahawks were still in the AFC,
the Seahawks' final playoff appearance in the AFS.
Speaker 2 (44:10):
Well, the Dolphins ever make it again.
Speaker 1 (44:13):
It's a really good question because growing up, I remember
the Dolphins being in the Super Bowl multiple times, and
those that are older than me remember them winning Super
Bowls and that just has not happened.
Speaker 2 (44:25):
It's going to be a while.
Speaker 1 (44:26):
I'm just going to say that. With Miami Cleveland fans
are like, yeah, what about us, what about us? They
haven't haven't been there. By the way, Dion Sanders hanging
out with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson the All the
Smoke podcasts, Dion watching Shador right now. Browns haven't been
to a super Bowl. This is the historic significance of
Shador Sanders. I saw this stat actually I saw it
(44:49):
via Reddit and I'm not sure if it was bet
MGM or who put this together, but since twenty fifteen,
Shador is the twelfth fifth round or worst quarterback to
start a game in the NFL. So this occurrence of
what we are seeing is not that common.
Speaker 4 (45:10):
Now.
Speaker 1 (45:10):
We saw Spencer Rattler start a game last season in
twenty twenty three. It was the Browns and starting Dorian
Thompson Robinson in a contest. Clayton Soon started a game
for the Cardinals that year, and also Jaren Hall for
the Vikings got two separate starts. Jaren Hall is a
part of my argument of why the Vikings didn't want
(45:32):
Kirk Cousins back in Minnesota because they were starting Jaron
Hall hoping maybe he would be able to do something
with the starting job and he never did.
Speaker 2 (45:41):
Here are the other names before your name?
Speaker 1 (45:43):
One?
Speaker 2 (45:43):
Dan, I think one does pop in my head is
Max Hall on.
Speaker 1 (45:47):
That list, No, but he probably would have been maybe
it would have been later, Yes, in a rookie season,
Sam Howell did with the Commanders, Skyler Thompson with the Dolphins.
Also in twenty twenty too was Brock Purdy YEP seventh
round pick, Jake Luton, Ben Denucci, Gardner Minshew in twenty nineteen,
(46:08):
and we all remember Nathan Peterman and the Bills in
the five interception game. So I think that Peterman is
a perfect example of this though, like at that point
we all were like, why in the world is Nathan
Peterman starting a football game for the Buffalo Bills and
then he goes and throws five interceptions, said, well, the guy,
the guy isn't ready. No fifth round pick is truly
(46:32):
ready for this situation. So when we see Chador and
what Shador is supposed to do, just history of him
actually being able to start a game, I think it's
more representative carry on how the Browns have managed their
quarterback or quarterback room or mismanaged maybe the way to go.
But the fact that Shador is even starting tells you
(46:53):
how many things that have actually had to go wrong
for Cleveland for him to get into this contest. Considering
the name that we saw on this list one hundred percent.
Speaker 3 (47:01):
I mean obviously, going into the season, they had three
guys that were supposedly, uh fighting for that starting position,
and he wasn't one of them. When you when you
think about it from that perspective, right, Evean is the
fifth round guy. Even though you know he had a
lot of clout coming in with his name, he wasn't
even in the mix. And so then you go through
the season and now Flocko's gone, the other one was injured.
Speaker 2 (47:24):
I can't think of Dylan Gabriel.
Speaker 3 (47:25):
No, not Yes, he's traded Yes he was, so he was,
he got traded away, and then obviously the third quarterback
or in that situation, second quarterback is gone, Dylan Gabriel
and now he's got a chance. And so right now
he's got a chance to win a game. To how
many of those guys that started those games one, I
don't have that. We'll talk about that.
Speaker 1 (47:44):
Later, but I would like to know they diminished how
great my stat was, No one, Thank you very much.
Carry Ruggs. As the conversation goes, it goes, you know, well,
I would say this, I think the name we know
Brock Purty and what Brock Purty has become as a
seventh round pick. Sam Howell, at one point was thought
to be a first round pick, fell all the way
into the draft. That doesn't sound unfamiliar to what Shador
(48:06):
has done. Sam Howell has not been able to find
his footing as a starting quarterback in the National Football League,
and even at difficulty as times as a backup. However,
there were a few games with the Washington Commanders that
he put up numbers. So there's so much more to
the Chador conversation. I don't think we're ever going to
get a real target area. But the point is of
(48:29):
Schador just even starting is historic in the fact, because
the Browns have just mismanaged their quarterback situation so much
that he's becoming like it's averaging out to about one
a season, and the Browns have done it so poorly
that they happened to be the one this season to
have to have to play their fifth round quarterback.
Speaker 3 (48:48):
Yeah, for sure, I mean it is a great stat Dan,
And I think the other part about you're talking about
with Cleveland is they probably hit on one and they
weren't patient enough to let that guy be the guy.
Speaker 2 (49:01):
And I think we all know that is right, yeah,
Baker Mayfield.
Speaker 3 (49:03):
And so we talk about having the right culture, the
right coaching staff around the right GM to make those picks,
because obviously when you talk about, you know, a guy
like having Baker Mayfield in that in the fold, they
had some success and then after you know, some lean
or not so productive moments, they choose the part ways
(49:25):
and then you got to go back down to carousel
again of trying to pick guys and find guys later
in the draft that.
Speaker 1 (49:29):
You know, like you said, they're not ready to play, yeah,
or just making an awful deal for Deshaun Watson like that,
and Deshaun Watson has made the trip for the Cleveland
Browns here too. At least Man helps should or deal
with what he may see on the field. I just
I think that the situation was unfair to Dylan Gabriel.
(49:52):
But I don't think that Dylan Gabriel should ever have
been a third round pick, no, you know, like in
that in that sort of in that sort of of raalm.
I hope I'm not talking out of both sides of
my mouth. And Shadoor probably shouldn't have been a fifth
round pick. The issues with shadoor If I said, were
distractions for the way on how his narrative can take
(50:15):
over a team and a locker room and a conversation.
And I think it's a perfect example. He's he was
more of a conversation than this Eagles Cowboys game was right.
Speaker 3 (50:27):
But it's the perspective of the Cleveland Browns going into
the season that really manufactures all this noise because they
thought Joe Flacco wasn't good enough to make the offense
competent with the defense that they had. So if you
think about that way, bringing in the Shedue Sanders in
that situation is a destruction because everybody's.
Speaker 1 (50:45):
Going to want him to play.
Speaker 3 (50:46):
And so when Flaco has any stale moment of not
being good enough with that offense or what they think
is good enough, they're gonna be called for him. You
saw last week when he got in the game, the
crowd went crazy, and so Dylan Gabriel and that shot
has no shot to be the guy, you know.
Speaker 1 (51:01):
So it's a tough position. Do you think that Flacco's
success in his short stint with the Bengals has reflected
poorly on the Browns Like the Baker Mayfield.
Speaker 3 (51:12):
No, because Wlakov was still going to be a short,
a short I guess hold in for that position. He
wasn't gonna he didn't have the possibility of being the
future the future guy.
Speaker 1 (51:22):
So I mean, I mean, did they come off on fast?
Speaker 3 (51:25):
Who knows, But I think in the long run, the
Baker Mayfield thing was way more of a blown thing
as far as that situation goes.
Speaker 2 (51:33):
He's carry roads. I'm dan Byer.
Speaker 1 (51:35):
So this is what's happening right now in this late window.
Speaking of the Browns, they continue to lead the Raiders
fourteen to three, three point thirty five left to go
in the third quarter as they play in Las Vegas.
The extra point for Jacksonville was good, So they're up
on the Cardinals seventeen to fourteen, five minutes to go
on the third quarter. Just getting underway in the second half.
Saints have the football and Falcons territory. They're converting on
(51:57):
a third and two. They're down to about the forty
four yard line. But it's Atlanta with Kirk Cousins starting
today sixteen to seven over the Saints in a battle
of NFC South rivals, one of the better rivalries that
we've got in the National Football League is Atlanta and
New Orleans and the game that you can see on
Fox for most of the country. The Eagles right now
on top of Dallas twenty one to seven. They are
(52:18):
early in the second half. Cowboys have the football. It'll
be first and ten inside their own ten yard line.
Coming up next, we'll get a review on shoud or
start so far, Plus Jamis Winston grabbing the headlines even
in a loss for the New York Giants.
Speaker 2 (52:33):
Today.
Speaker 1 (52:34):
Our NFL insider Adam Kaplan will join us to talk
about those games and so much more in week twelve.
Speaker 2 (52:39):
He's carry Roads. I'm Dan Byer. That's next on Fox.
Speaker 10 (52:42):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live back to Dan Byer and Carry Rhodes.
Speaker 1 (52:57):
Its end zone radio on Fox Sports Radio. Jacoby Brissette
had to leave the game for the Arizona Cardinals. Keaton
Slovas coming in for Arizona. Something to watch as Jacksonville
is up seventeen to fourteen in that contest. Browns have
the football and Quinn John Judkins has just ran a
near midfield, up fourteen to three on the Raiders.
Speaker 2 (53:16):
Nearing the end of the third quarter.
Speaker 1 (53:17):
Falcons continue to leave the Saints sixteen to seven in
New Orleans and the third quarter and it's the Eagles
on top of the Cowboys twenty one to seven. He
is carry roads on Dan byer Our NFL insider Adam
Kaplan joins us here final met Kaplan NFL listen to
him on the Inside the Birds podcast, and Adam, let's
just let's start out with Shador Sanders and just quickly
(53:39):
with the Browns and what they're doing today. Up fourteen
to three, doing what he's done, I would say, so far,
so good in his first career.
Speaker 2 (53:46):
Start, what do you have?
Speaker 12 (53:47):
He has to pick, but he has the pick. But
that fifty two yard past Isaia Bona's big time. That's
a big time throw, not easy, rolled out to his
right and dug his back heel and threw it downfield.
De Bono could could who could fly? So it's good. Look,
it's I like the Browns to win this game. Coming in,
I felt pretty good about it. I thought they'd rally
around Shador. They've done a good job. They're ready to
(54:10):
have a great defense. That's not been the problem. The
problem has been a quarterback. So he'll be the start
of the rest of the way unless he just completely implodes.
That's what they from what I understand, that's what they
like to do. Uh, and they'll just go from there.
But look, it's good. They need a shot in the arm,
you know, that's it's just what they need. And you
got to feel good. I don't care where the game is.
It's kind of cool that it's on the road that
(54:30):
he's playing well, but you know they got to come
home next week and play the Niners.
Speaker 7 (54:34):
But so far, so good for Shudor.
Speaker 1 (54:36):
Yeah, I want to I want to pivot.
Speaker 4 (54:38):
I know that.
Speaker 3 (54:38):
I mean, everybody wants to talk about Shador and I
think that's I think this is what's a prime game
for him to come out and play a really good,
solid game. And sure, I think he's doing that. But
I want to talk about something we talked about maybe
five weeks ago the Steelers lost to Day.
Speaker 7 (54:52):
Yeah, I knew you were going to go there. Yeah, yeah,
I'm gonna I'm gonna eat this one. Yeah, I'm gonna
eat this one. I'm telling you.
Speaker 1 (54:58):
The Ravens of six and five up there ruling all
five in the row? What's going on?
Speaker 4 (55:02):
Now?
Speaker 1 (55:02):
What do you think?
Speaker 2 (55:02):
Adam?
Speaker 10 (55:04):
Right?
Speaker 4 (55:04):
Right?
Speaker 12 (55:05):
But remember the Ravens have not played the Steelers yet.
But no, it's it's crazy the Steelers. The reality is,
I give basically we're off a ton of credit today.
You know, look at the Steelers team. First, he did
a good job on our tough circumstances. But the timing
issues on on offense though. You know, when you have
thirty one attempts that have less than two hundred yards,
that's not good. But they ran the ball. That's what
(55:28):
they want to be as a running team. Talking to
the Steelers this season, it always starts with a run
with them. They did some good things in the run game.
But in the end, you know their defense, which has
been up and down again, they had problems in the secondary.
They're giving up too many big plays the season. It's
and by the way, one thing I do want to
mention this, the Bears were down five defensive starters. Oh wow,
(55:48):
and they still cannot Yeah, they still cannot muster enough offense.
Speaker 7 (55:53):
So that's that's a bad sign. And now they're tied.
I'm shocked.
Speaker 12 (55:56):
I mean again, since thirty five years, only four teams
have made the playoff starting one to five.
Speaker 1 (56:02):
Yeah, Adam Kaplan r NFL is that are joining us
today on Fox Sports Radio as he always does at
this time. The Giants lose, but Jameis Winston is Jameis
Winston again, so the second straight week he's got his
team in the think of it. They lose to a
better team. But for you talking about big plays, I
think they had ten plays over twenty yards today. Why
(56:22):
was it Jamis starting earlier in the season when Russell
Wilson was getting those starts. Good cluestion.
Speaker 7 (56:28):
Yeah, and they probably should have done that.
Speaker 12 (56:29):
They made Russell promise that he would start the season
other than a game against Dallas. While everyone does well
against Dallas, but sure other in the game against Dallas,
Wilson did not play well. And I give Jamis credit
and Mike Kafka talking to the coaches, he loves the
trick plays. The trick play with the Gunnarschevski to Winston
for the touchdown was an awesome call, great execution. Kafka,
(56:53):
the interim head coach who is their play caller this year,
he loves this stuff. But once again they choked him,
and it's it's hard to believe they outplay the Lions completely.
The Lions have so many injuries on defense. Guys, it's
I give him credit for coming back. Jamir Gibbs. Everybody's
talking about Jonathan Taylor being the offensive player of the year.
We got start talk about Jamiir Gibbs. He was unbelievable today.
Speaker 1 (57:14):
I was a quick follow up though on Kafka because
I felt that he has a chance to keep this
job full time. Is that in the possibility for the Giants.
Speaker 12 (57:22):
He'll definitely get an interview. They're gonna want someone, obviously
to develop Dart. Obviously he's worked closely with them, and
that's a big deal. And the Giants claim they're not
they have no list yet you know they're not. They're
not really working on it hard. I mean, I tend
to understand how these things go when clubs tell that
left reporters know that someone in the building has got
(57:45):
a list. But it's all going to be about offense.
There's no question about yes. And Kafak will have a chance.
He's got to be a little the dan on my
Kafka talking to people work with him. He's got to
be a little bit more out there, a little bit
more outgoing and a little bit more connective.
Speaker 7 (58:01):
That's that's going to be the challenge for him.
Speaker 3 (58:03):
Adam, I want to I want to switch this to
a big game that was earlier today, the Chiefs and
the Colts, right, and so yeah, this is a this
is a chance for the Colts to really bury the Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (58:12):
I mean this game was I mean prime for the
Coats to win.
Speaker 3 (58:16):
I think when it really comes down to it, when
you when I watched this game earlier, it was more
about the Colts not being able to finish. And you know,
the Colts had three possessions down the stretch where they
could have put this game away in overtime as well,
and they went three three and outs, And so I
think it really just kind of puts puts the on
this back on Danny Diames. Can he win these games
(58:37):
and be the deciding factor for the Colts being not
just a good team but a great team.
Speaker 12 (58:42):
Well, carry a couple of things. The Colts never trailed
until they lost the game time, So on your point,
they had the ball, but you got to give the
Chiefs credit. Steves Bagnolo has come under fire They're a
great defensive coordinator. So I've been a great year for Spags.
But the run defense shut down Taylor. That that surprised me. Now,
I know some people are going to bring you know,
it's the Colts. They're out there, you know, indoor team.
(59:04):
They haven't been so great.
Speaker 7 (59:06):
On the road.
Speaker 12 (59:06):
Now they are actually two and three on the road.
They're undefeated at home. That matters when we get to
the playoffs. Guys like that, that to me is a
an issue when we get to the playoffs. But I'm
disappointed that the Colts blew this game. They should have
won it. But now the Chiefs, by the way, if
you think about this, guys, they had thirty three first downs, okay,
(59:29):
thirty three first downs. They dominated time possession by over
seventeen minutes. How many times are going to they're going
to move the ball down their kickfield goals?
Speaker 7 (59:36):
But that was that was the thing. It wasn't that.
It wasn't the Cults defense, which is the problem. Yeah,
it was their offense.
Speaker 12 (59:42):
And you mentioned carried Danny times, he didn't turn it over,
but lack of explosive plays.
Speaker 7 (59:47):
I give Spags his defense credit.
Speaker 12 (59:49):
They have not had a good year they've got had
problems in the secondary, don't tackle all that well, but
they got the job.
Speaker 7 (59:54):
Now that's a great that to me, I'm gonna just
call it this. This one saved their season, all.
Speaker 1 (59:59):
Right, last one for Adam Kaplan joining us here at
Fox Sports Radio. Why did the Bengals ultimately not played
Joe Burrow this weekend?
Speaker 12 (01:00:07):
Their whole my understanding was that this is never their
plan to play him. And then what happened was, you know,
Flacco has the shoulder injury, the left shoulder sprain, ac
joint sprain, and they did not want him taking a
ton of reps because they did. But again it's his
left but for whatever reason, this is the way as
I understand what they've been doing it. But yet, as
(01:00:30):
you saw it, Burrow, I don't know if it's out there,
but I know for a fact, Burrow took majority of
the ones this week. It's really odd, but they made
a decision Saturday after their walk through that they want
to give Joe another another chance here getting a little
bit more work.
Speaker 7 (01:00:43):
Oh and look, Flaco didn't play well.
Speaker 12 (01:00:45):
I'll give I'll give him credit for bringing the team back,
but yet another team, guys, as we close this, I
can't just I just cannot believe the Patriots. You could
say which one about the schedule this is, I'd have
to think back. I'd have to go back and really
think about this. Of the last twenty years of my career,
this is top three biggest surprises. This is because I
talked to Patriots this past week. It's not that they
(01:01:09):
don't think they have a good roster. They just think
that players buying in the variable guy and carry. You know,
as a player, when you buy in whatever the coach wants,
you just you're gonna you're gonna be better than you
think they were, probably than you should be.
Speaker 7 (01:01:21):
But this guy's is ridiculous with what they're doing. It's correct.
Speaker 2 (01:01:24):
I mean, yeah, I thought there would be a playoff team,
but not nine in a row.
Speaker 7 (01:01:27):
Patriots.
Speaker 2 (01:01:27):
Remember I told you, I told you the.
Speaker 1 (01:01:31):
Things.
Speaker 7 (01:01:32):
You might have been the one.
Speaker 4 (01:01:33):
You know what?
Speaker 7 (01:01:33):
All right? You were the one.
Speaker 4 (01:01:34):
I know.
Speaker 7 (01:01:35):
It's funny because I knew so excited.
Speaker 1 (01:01:36):
To me, they'll be giving nobody who credit at them.
Speaker 2 (01:01:39):
I also had in the playoffs, Yes, yes I did.
I just won't tell you the other teams that I
also put in the playoffs.
Speaker 12 (01:01:45):
I'd see out in the playoffs, and I've been on
record three places on that one. I didn't pick them
to win the division though, admitute, well, they were a
ten win team last year.
Speaker 2 (01:01:52):
I mean they should make I.
Speaker 12 (01:01:53):
Know, but I didn't honestly with Sam Darnold because you
never know, with him imploding seven turnovers the previous two weeks.
But but no, it's it's been a great year, guys,
and it's really been fascinating. I want to see what
happens when the Ravens though, when their schedule gets a
little bit harder. Now the first Ravens Steelers game is
in two weeks and week fourteen. Then they also have
(01:02:15):
to play those Patriots they will host in week sixteen.
Speaker 1 (01:02:18):
By the way, the final word on the Patriots, they
are a roller coaster. When they get inside the five.
Speaker 10 (01:02:24):
You have no idea.
Speaker 2 (01:02:25):
It is so amazing.
Speaker 1 (01:02:26):
They may turn it over, they may get a penalty,
they may score, but you look at all the times
today it was an adventure. Remember against the Buccaneers, they
had crazy situation fumbled against the Steelers in a loss
earlier this year. Anyway, Adam, I know you gotta run.
We're gonna let you go and we'll talk to in
week thirteen. Half hear you?
Speaker 7 (01:02:43):
All right?
Speaker 1 (01:02:44):
He's Adam Kaplan, our NFL insider. Let's jump over to
the news desk. Monzie milanial Sinner Clippers City Edition sweatshirt.
It's kind of like the throwback to.
Speaker 5 (01:02:54):
The old Yeah, yeah, I don't know this Brandama me this.
Speaker 1 (01:03:00):
I don't know what's the deal here.
Speaker 5 (01:03:05):
It's called friendship. I think this has to do. I
don't know if they're back to this slogo. It was
like an in between, like when they were moving right
to like into it and like everything was changing. I
feel like this is when they came out.
Speaker 2 (01:03:19):
This was a recent purchase.
Speaker 5 (01:03:20):
Pree right, this was actually last Christmas.
Speaker 2 (01:03:23):
Was last Christmas.
Speaker 5 (01:03:24):
I gave her my heart also, and the next day
she gave it away.
Speaker 2 (01:03:26):
Sure, oh wow, Wow, she's singing last Christmas.
Speaker 5 (01:03:33):
She is singing last but day. You know.
Speaker 10 (01:03:35):
Yeah. A J.
Speaker 5 (01:03:36):
Brown was just saying, sa Quon Barkley, it's the same thing.
It's the same thing. Dylan Samson got the Browns in
almost into the red zone. They're just there. Even Jerry
Judy was out there blocking for him. The Browns are
up on the Raiders fourteen to three. Yes, and.
Speaker 1 (01:03:52):
Simpson's in because of Quinchawn Judkins being knocked.
Speaker 5 (01:03:56):
Out correct correct earlier in the game, correct correct, but yeah,
he Browns up fourteen three. It's still early in the
fourth quarter here in Las Vegas. Also early in the
fourth quarter in Arizona, where Jacoby Brissett was also out
of the game taking a hard hit. Jaguars are upright
now seventeen fourteen. Halfway through the third quarter, the Eagles
still leading the Cowboys twenty one to seven, and late
(01:04:17):
in the third quarter, the Falcons are on top of
the Saints sixteen to six. Saints have the ball, they're
trying to get down to the other side, but they're
around midfield. Some of the games that happened earlier today,
like the Seahawks. They outscored the Titans thirty to twenty four,
and Jackson Smith and Jigba now has the most receiving
yards in a single season in Seahawks franchise history. The
Chiefs walked it off with the field goal to defeat
the Colts in overtime twenty three to twenty. The Patriots
(01:04:40):
won their ninth straight game, taking down the Bengals twenty
six to twenty. The Bears defense was the reason they
held on to defeat the Steelers thirty one to twenty eight. TJ.
Watt has one hundred and fifteen career sacks, by the way,
surpassing his brother who ended with one hundred and fourteen
point five. So right there, just right there. Yeah, Lions
are now seven and four. They defeated the Giant. It's
in overtime thirty four to twenty seven. R Jim year
(01:05:03):
Gibbs had fifteen carries two hundred and nineteen yards two touchdowns.
He also caught eight touch down past. The Giants are
the first team eliminated from playoff contention. In base one
case you missed it, the Mets and the Rangers finalized
a trade that is sending second baseman Marcus Simeon to
the Mets and outfielder Brandon nimo Is headed to the Rangers.
In the NBA, Kawhi Leonard his backboard to Clippers. That's right,
(01:05:23):
I don't care. It's James Harden who I care about.
He's got eight points and the Clippers are right now
up on the Calves twenty two to eighteen. Late in
the first quarter, Celtics over the Magic twenty seven to
twenty late in the first quarter. Back to you guys, Thank.
Speaker 2 (01:05:36):
You very much.
Speaker 1 (01:05:37):
Moncey Belgios finder at Moncy Bloonials. Moncey'll be with us
with some fantasy misses coming up in about twelve minutes
or so. Cowboys are driving Carrie with that fourteen point
deficit to the Eagles. But you said this game was
not over when Philadelphia was up twenty one nothing, Yes,
not over.
Speaker 3 (01:05:53):
I mean the Cowboys has an explosive offense that just
missed one. Though he had the tight ends streaking down
the sideline could have been a touchdown. He overthrew them
just a little bit. But they're right here. If they
can score a touchdown and make it a one possessing game,
then you know, maybe we'll be tuned in a little
bit more.
Speaker 1 (01:06:08):
Dan, let's move on. Jacoby Brissett. Looked like he was
okay on the bench, so we'll monitor his status with
the Cardinals. There is Manzi told to they're down three
in that game. As we mentioned, quin Shawn Judkins came out.
Dylan Sampson in for the Browns carrying some of that
rushing load. Here's the thought process. As Dak just threw
(01:06:31):
a bad interception. But I think we've got some laundry
on the field, which is the reason I think he
threw the ball knowing that there wasn't going to be
a play. Twelve men on the field, I hope, So
it was terrible they got him with twelve men on
the field. According to Bill Vinovich, the referee, they're doing
(01:06:52):
the counting right now on Fox to make sure that
everybody is there one trying to write race off. Yes,
and that is twelve. So Dak with a bit of
a free play. They're set up at the Eagles thirty
three yard line, so it's gonna give him five extra yards,
so they'll move down to the twenty eight yard line.
But it's gonna be third and four for Dallas now
(01:07:12):
in that situation. The point I wanted to make about
the Browns as they kicked a field goal to go
up seventeen to three with twelve o eight to.
Speaker 2 (01:07:20):
Go, this is the question is going to be.
Speaker 1 (01:07:27):
We're analyzing every throw and I know that Adam Kaplan
didn't mean to do it. Maybe he did mean to
do it, but when he started out asking about when
I asked about Shudor's performance so far, the first thing
he said, was has the interception, and I think that's
what you're gonna hear from people. But I just want
(01:07:48):
him to drive the car, just keep it in the
lane and if we can, if we can make up
some time with a big play here and there. He
doesn't have to set the world on fire. He just
needs to be capable and maybe add a dimension that
they didn't have before. But I in a real world, Carrie,
(01:08:09):
the bar is should be very low for what should
or Sanders has to do with that defense that we
speak so highly of. Yeah, no, I think that's I
think that's the issue. And we just had Brandy Aubrey
miss a fifty one yard a field goal temp which
is a chip shot for him. But I mean Dallas
is doing everything they can to not win this game.
But sorry Dan, but yeah, it's going back to Shador though.
(01:08:31):
I think just the outside noise of who he is
and what he represents, right like having an opportunity to
go out and be the man now, to be the starter.
I think from your perspective of what you're saying, I
agree with it. I think there is there should be
tempered expectations for what he can do. I mean, we
can see that Cleveland offense, whoever has been at the
(01:08:52):
helm has not done a good job. So for him
to come out and just be steady Eddy with the
way that defense is and like you said, occasionally make
some plays like he did today with the deep pass
over the top almost four testsdown got him to the
yard line. That'll be for me. That'd be a really
good performance. This is the crazy thing. I think that
Shador took a giant step today. Maybe Dylan Gabriel and
(01:09:14):
the Browns win this game, but I think that he
took a giant step in just that the Browns are
going to get a win. But what you're going to
hear from the Shoudour, the people who love Shador is see,
this is why you were idiots. This is what the
guy could do all along. He never ever, ever, in
(01:09:37):
our whole entire life, should never, ever, ever have fell
to the fifth round. And in the same performance today
going ten of eighteen for one hundred and forty three
yards in an interception, he's been sacked once. He really
hasn't run the football. You're gonna hear people say, well,
he turned the ball over. They use the wildcat to
(01:09:59):
score or two touchdowns and took him off the field
and he only threw for one hundred and forty three yards.
That's so no matter what happens, the narrative is not
going to change after this game, and that's what's unfortunate.
And I bring up the point carry that this game
on the game on Fox right now is Eagles Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (01:10:21):
That is the main game.
Speaker 1 (01:10:22):
That's where Kevin Burkhart and Tom Brady are, that is
being shown to a significant amount of the country. There
are markets throughout the United States that right now only
have one football game on and that is the Eagles
and the Cowboys. The Raiders Browns game is being shown
in Toledo, in Cleveland, in Las Vegas, and Reno I
(01:10:44):
mentioned it earlier that it's not even cleared in all
parts of Nevada. There were parts of Nevada that got
the Colts and Chiefs earlier today on CBS. So my
point is you're going to get so many takes on
this game and what Shador did and people didn't even
watch what he did today.
Speaker 2 (01:11:05):
A great point, Dan, and that's your spot on.
Speaker 3 (01:11:09):
People are gonna look at the numbers and call it
for what they think it is without even watching the game.
And the numbers aren't that impressive, but they're just kind
of pedestrian. And if you really watch the game and
saw and see how he's heling this moment, and you
know on time, he's not holding the ball along, he's
taking what the defense gives him. And he's you know,
he had the one one sack and the one turnover.
(01:11:31):
But he's a rookie. And so if you put that
and put that into perspective, you'd be like, oh, this
is a good showing from him in game one.
Speaker 1 (01:11:39):
Yes, yes, this is this is an undoubt, this is
a no brainer. This is a huge, huge success story
for shoud Or Sanders and the Browns today. Is if
it's stays seventeen to three, I wouldn't doubt if the
Browns don't throw another past this game, right, they're just
(01:12:00):
got to stop. They're going to force the Raiders to
punt nine thirty three in counting. The Raiders do have
all three of their timeouts. But whether quin Shawn Judkins
is in the game, or Dylan Samson's in the game,
or Jerome Ford's in the game, those are going to
be the names that you're gonna hear with the football.
There was no reason for Shador Sanders to do anything
with a football for the rest of the way. And
I would say that would be a win for Shador
(01:12:22):
in the Cleveland Browns. And that's what's got to be
our biggest takeaway in all of this. There will be
indictments on the Browns front office. There will be indictments
on Kevin Stefanski. There's been enough gone wrong. You brought
up just the fact of this team quitting on Baker
Mayfield after he helped them to the playoffs and a
playoff victory, right Like, there's enough blame to go around.
But today if we could just take what it's worth,
(01:12:43):
and that is it's a win for the Browns and
a win for Shador Sanders in his first career start
for a guy who was drafted in a spot that
we just laid out. There have only been twelve quarterbacks
in the last ten seasons that have been a fifth
rounder or worse that have started in an NFL game
they year, and he's not one of the twelve. Yeah, No,
he'll be one and no under the Shaduur regame, and
(01:13:05):
then we'll get.
Speaker 3 (01:13:06):
To we can critique. We'll have time to critique him
right now. This will be a big win for Cleveland,
the big win for him as well.
Speaker 1 (01:13:13):
Critique him next week against the Niners. They have the
Titans coming up in a couple of weeks that should
be a winnable game for them. Critique them against the
Bears and against the Bills and against the Steelers that
they're gonna play later on. Those will be opportunities. Today
it's an unquestioned victory and a win for Shador Sanders
and the Browns, and something catastrophic would have to happen,
And honestly, their defense would have to give up seventeen
(01:13:35):
points fifteen points.
Speaker 2 (01:13:37):
To the to the Raiders to lose this game, and
I just don't see that happening.
Speaker 1 (01:13:41):
And they're gonna They're gonna have more sacks than the
Raiders to have points.
Speaker 2 (01:13:44):
In this game.
Speaker 1 (01:13:45):
That's so, you know, probably right they have eight sacks
right now, Dan, they got three points. That is gonna
that's gonna end up. That's a guarantee. He's carrying out

In Arizona, Jay Jaguar is still leading the Cardinals seventeen
to fourteen in the fourth quarter of that contest, ten
minutes to go. We told you the Browns up on
the Raiders seventeen to three with nine minutes left in
that contest. In Dallas, it's Philadelphia up on the Cowboys
(01:14:29):
twenty one to seven, four minutes to go on the
third and the Saints knocking on the door, but down
sixteen to seven right now early in the fourth quarter
to Atlanta.
Speaker 2 (01:14:37):
He's carry Roads. I'm Dan Bayer. Look at your fantasy numbers.
Speaker 1 (01:14:40):
Next on end Zone Radio on Fox Sports Radio, Browns
d Raiders.
Speaker 13 (01:14:44):
Shador on third down, throws at Sampson to the flat
Sampson thirty five, Sampson forty.
Speaker 14 (01:14:48):
Samson first down. He's had the raid of thirty five.
It's a foot race and he's gone.
Speaker 15 (01:14:53):
Dylan Sampson touchdown and that is a loungust play of
the year for your Cleveland brown sixty six yards and
for Shador Sanders, the first passing touchdown of his young
NFL career. And just like that, he's thrown for more
than two hundred yards and the Browns have put the.
Speaker 7 (01:15:15):
Nail in the coffin.
Speaker 10 (01:15:16):
Back to Dan Beyer and carry.
Speaker 1 (01:15:18):
Rhodes Browns Radio Network with the call I was wrong.
They let Shadoor throw, They dumped one out in the
flat and Dylan Samson took the care of the rest
Browns extending their lead. As you heard, twenty four to three,
one of four games going on right now in this
late window. Trevor Lawrence who's been picked off again his
eleventh interception this season, second of this game, and it's
(01:15:41):
set up a touchdown pass from Jacoby Brissett to Greg
Dortch's presets back into the game. Arizona's up twenty one
to seventeen, four takeaways in all today for the Cardinals
against Jacksonville. There is six thirty left to go. Jacksonville
does have the football in Arizona territory. Cards up four
in that game. The Saints got it down to the one,
(01:16:01):
but settled for a field goal. So they're down to
the Falcons sixteen to ten with twelve thirteen to go.
Brandon Aubrey has just kicked an extra point. Cowboys getting
into the end zone. Dak Press got a touchdown pass,
so it's twenty one to fourteen. Late in the third quarter,
Carrie Saiven when it was twenty one nothing, this game
was not over. It is not, as Dallas is now
(01:16:22):
within seven.
Speaker 3 (01:16:24):
Yeah, no, they finally decided to cash in on one.
They left ten points out there, but got a big
catch by CD and the penalty to get down there
and Dak made a touchdown pass to cut it the seven.
Now we got a ball game. And also in that
Saints game, the Saints got down to the one yard line.
I forgot how to play football. Yeah, so that's what
happens when you when you're a really bad football I always.
Speaker 1 (01:16:43):
Judge Saints seasons by when Taysom Hill starts to take snaps,
because it's like the Taysom Hill portion of the season. Yeah,
and there was a snap that went flying over his head.
Again while you're in shotgun at the one yard line
drives people crazy. But they ended up settling for three.
So all these games except really, what's happening in the
Vegas still hanging in the balance. Brevn span Ford with
a touchdown reception from Dak Prescott in that Cowboys game.
(01:17:07):
Let's go over to the news desk, Monty Belanio says
some fantasy numbers for us.
Speaker 5 (01:17:10):
All Right, I feel like there's a lot of misses today,
you guys, I'm gonna only give you a few, and
we'll start with the quarterbacks here. If you played JJ McCarthy,
my first question is why why big fat zero? If
not maybe minus, but you probably didn't play him, so
some that you may have played JJ McCarthy.
Speaker 1 (01:17:27):
Oh you mean nine nine, big fat zero.
Speaker 5 (01:17:31):
Okay, that's that's where his quarterback rating. That's why I
don't even know if that's that's too high, that's way
too high. Lamar Jackson gave you seven points today. He
threw for one hundred and fifty two yards. Jordan Love
six points today. He threw for one hundred and thirty
nine yards. When it comes to the running backs, well,
if you play Jonathan Taylor like I did, and so
did Dan, he gave a seven points ish, Yeah, sixteen
(01:17:52):
carries for fifty eight yards. Also, David Montgomery five points
five carries for eight you.
Speaker 2 (01:18:00):
Had five carries.
Speaker 1 (01:18:01):
You only had five car Gibbs's running laughs.
Speaker 5 (01:18:04):
On the balance, right, it's a balance, right, all right.
Wide receivers real quick, Jamison Williams and Jordan Addison, big
fat zero, they were just doing cardio. Justin Jefferson eight points,
four catches, forty eight yards. T Higgins he did leave
with the concussional eight points five catches thirty one yards
when you probably thought he would do better without Jamar Chase. Absolutely,
(01:18:24):
it did not work out like that. And he did
leave in the middle of I think the third quarter
with the concussion. So those were some of the misses
and there were more for today.
Speaker 3 (01:18:33):
So you guys got to correlate the Jamar I mean
Jamar Chase stuff too. You know, there's a bad quarterback
play there as well.
Speaker 5 (01:18:39):
It did sure, yeah, yeah, yeah, no, of course it was.
It was messy. It was messy.
Speaker 1 (01:18:43):
Yeah, a rough day for a lot of the names
that were also in my starting life. Oh so this
this is a personal attack at you, Dan, I don't
know why.
Speaker 5 (01:18:55):
I have Jonathan Tavis, Yes, I have T Higgins.
Speaker 1 (01:18:59):
He did too, yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:19:00):
I was like Dede Higgins get in there. No, Jamar Chase,
get in there.
Speaker 2 (01:19:04):
No, uh oh oh.
Speaker 1 (01:19:05):
John Robinson a big play on a second and twenty
four picked up more than twenty four, So it'll be
a first down for the Falcons, moving the chains and
moving the clock as they're up six.
Speaker 2 (01:19:15):
In that contest.
Speaker 1 (01:19:16):
It happens. Sometimes you have those weeks. Sometimes you don't.
Trevor Lawrence, I misspoke. He's been picked off three times today.
Nice was not picked off. Just hit Parker Washington for
a touchdown. So the Jaguars have just retaken the lead
against Arizona twenty three twenty one with three forty seven
left to go in that contest in the Desert Man,
who's the.
Speaker 2 (01:19:36):
Real Trevor Lawrence?
Speaker 4 (01:19:37):
Dan?
Speaker 1 (01:19:37):
Can we talk about that in next segment?
Speaker 2 (01:19:39):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (01:19:39):
Absolutely, I think we're seeing the real Trevor Lawrence, is
my goodness.
Speaker 3 (01:19:45):
And to your point, really quick before we got of here,
the quarterbacks that MONSI just named, all those you know,
the names Lamar Jackson, the guys that to expect to
put up big points, they're not doing that week in
the week out.
Speaker 2 (01:19:55):
So well, she had Emanuel.
Speaker 1 (01:19:57):
Wilson on her for the for the hits for the
running backs, and know Josh Jacobs today for Green Bay,
he filled admirably. Honestly, I know Jordan Love hasn't been
great this season, but if JJ McCarthy is doing or
not doing what he's been doing, there's no reason.
Speaker 2 (01:20:15):
For Jordan Love to have to do that.
Speaker 1 (01:20:17):
Green Bay can actually win that game by just handing
the football off and not doing anything crazy. The Falcons
have gotten into the end zone. Darnell Mooney's just caught
a touchdown pass from Kirk Cousins, so Atlanta now has
extended their lead. They were up six, up twenty two
to ten, likely to go for two in this scenario.
As their midway through the fourth quarter and about actually
(01:20:37):
eleven minutes left to go in that contest, the Raiders
are driving me again. Down twenty four to three to
the Browns. Getting down to about the five yard line.
Was Gino Smith on a scramble. Jacksonville ends up getting
the lead with the extra point, extending it to three.
Now twenty four to twenty one, and it's a twenty
twenty one fourteen game. Eagles on top of the Cowboys
at the end of the third He's carry Rhodes. I'm Dan,
(01:20:57):
that's next on Fox.
Speaker 10 (01:21:00):
Do're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio?
Speaker 1 (01:21:03):
Carrie is obsessed that the Browns sacked you know, Smith
more times than the Raiders have points ten nine ballgame
right now in that one, that's the only thing that's
competitive in Las Vegas is the Browns are up twenty
four to ten.
Speaker 2 (01:21:16):
As you heard Monci say, we're going to.
Speaker 1 (01:21:18):
Keep you updated of what's happening in these games that
are expected to go down to the wire, including the
Cowboys just down seven. Jake elliotts on though to attempt
a fifty six yard field goal for Philadelphia after Brandon
Aubrey missed a fifty one yard er earlier. This would
give the egos a little bit more cushion, and it's
(01:21:40):
no good going to give them that cushion. Alright, seven
point game and Dak and the Boys will take over
near midfield. Jacksonville has got the football. The Cardinals had
to punt it away and now Arizona, who has all
three of their timeouts, will need to get a stop
here a quick turnover on down, Cardinals thought that they
(01:22:02):
had something going getting a third down conversion. However, a
penalty was called an Arizona backing them up. So with
a fourth and long, Arizona just ends up chucking one
nextually that was earlier in the contest. The Arizona ends
up punting it to Jacksonville. So Jacksonville taking over first
and ten Cardinals right now with two timeouts left Jacksonville
(01:22:25):
facing a second and seven. So you got to get
the stop if you're Arizona to have any life. And
if Jacksonville were to win this contest, carry strengthening their bid,
and if this was college football, let's say college basketball,
because that committee looks at resumes, I think more than
the current college football playoff crew does. But Jacksonville getting
(01:22:49):
a road win, they have a win in San Francisco,
They've got to win over the Chiefs. Like we may
not believe in Jacksonville, but they are picking up wins
where you think that they wouldn't and in the thick
of the AFC picture. And that's what makes it so
difficult for teams like the Steelers, like the Chiefs, like
the Texans, is because Jacksonville just keeps on winning games
(01:23:10):
and people don't think that they should win.
Speaker 3 (01:23:13):
Yes, and they're only there will be one game out
of the division lead, like this game, this game is
so important for Jacksonville and what you just said, though,
this team is I mean, doctor Jucko, mister High, They're
they're all, They're all the things, right, like you said.
They play well against really stiff opponents, and then they
(01:23:33):
come out and play a Cardinals team who's you know,
playing their backup quarterback in a situation where this team is,
you know, in a combustible season for them, and so
I don't know, I don't know who they are, Dan,
Do you do you think this team is a team
that can win a playoff game right now Jacksonville?
Speaker 1 (01:23:49):
Yeah, I don't. I don't know why not, right, I
don't know why not. They've beaten the Chargers five, five
to six. By the way, the it's a fourth and one,
so Jacksonville ends up I know, your chair. I'm gonna
get to that in a while. Don't worry about Carrie Roles.
(01:24:09):
We gotta focus on what's happening in Arizona. Happened Jacksonville
has got it, it's fourth and one. They could kick
a field goal. That's what ended up happening is the
Cardinals ended up turning it over on downs and so
now Jacksonville has the decision. It's fourth and they're saying
(01:24:30):
it's fourth and one. It's a long one, it's fourth
and two. You could make it a six point lead
if you kick the field goal with a minute forty
four left to go, or you could go for it
and end the game if you get the first down,
but it's then just a three point lead. Jacksonville is
going for it in this situation. Yeah, No, we just
talked about it earlier.
Speaker 10 (01:24:51):
Dan.
Speaker 1 (01:24:52):
Oh, it's gonna be it's gonna be tough, and it's
Trevor Lawrence throwing it into the end zone and it's incomplete. Ooh,
we were just talked about earlier, Dan. What was the
game we talked about where.
Speaker 2 (01:25:01):
The Giants and Lions.
Speaker 3 (01:25:02):
Yes, for the they went for it, didn't get it,
and the Lions came back, went down and kicked the
field goal to come back overtime and win the game.
We could possibly have the same situation here, but I
think it's the right decision.
Speaker 1 (01:25:14):
Again. I mean, you know, they go up six here.
Speaker 3 (01:25:17):
The Cardinals have shown with Brissett that they can move
the ball and they can score a touchdown, So I mean, yeah,
I would go for the juggiller in.
Speaker 2 (01:25:24):
This situation, you would have gone for it.
Speaker 1 (01:25:25):
And there were two penalties, by the way on Jacksonville,
so even if they would have converted them in the
legal man downfield and in an illegal formation, the Cowboys
are now knocking on the doors Dad Prescott to hit
George Pickens for a big reception down to the Philadelphia
eleven yard line. So that's a twenty one to fourteen
ball game here with twelve minutes to go in the
(01:25:46):
fourth quarter. Dallas is obviously gonna want to score a
touchdown here. Yeah, but the short field position on the
field goal miss helps them. I think you just got
to get points and try to extend this game as
much as possible there at least now after a Javonte
Williams carry down inside the ten. This is what I'm
going to ask just the crew I know this is
(01:26:08):
can we switch Browns. I'm talking to.
Speaker 2 (01:26:12):
Brie and Mary.
Speaker 1 (01:26:14):
We need the Cardinals game up there because Arizona now
is the football second and ten and they are down
three to Jacksonville. So this is just a little housekeeping
for us. So we're gonna move the game. And now
Dak Prescott has just gotten into the end zone for
the Dallas Cowboys on a touchdown run.
Speaker 2 (01:26:34):
As we were making our own.
Speaker 1 (01:26:36):
Switch with the with the game in Arizona, this look
like Jacksonville was gonna put this one on ice. Yep,
they are unable to do it, and now Arizona just
needs to get at least to midfield. You need about
thirty five yards if you're in field goal range. But
now they're facing a third and ten. Well, the Cowboys
are coming on for an extra point to tie the game. Man,
(01:26:57):
the Cowboys have found themselves back in this game. They
played tough offensively. We talked about it earlier.
Speaker 3 (01:27:04):
They're not out of it in any game, so for
them to be able to fight, and I think what's
been understated in this comeback is the defense. They've been
able to stiffen up a little bit and get some
stops on the Eagles. And now we have a ball
game and with the Cardinals, it looks like did they
get a first down or dead or.
Speaker 2 (01:27:20):
The momentum is going to be the question.
Speaker 1 (01:27:22):
They needed to get to the thirty yard line and
the receiver caught the ball at about the thirty one,
but the full momentum took him back to the other
side of the thirty. So the Cardinals, who don't have
a timeout, now face a fourth and one and they
are able to get it on the run with.
Speaker 2 (01:27:40):
Up the middle.
Speaker 1 (01:27:40):
I'm not sure if that was Bam Knight or whoever,
if it was Michael Carter on the run, but Arizona
did get the first down. But the clock is ticking.
You may want to spike it in this situation. You
got a fresh set of downs. But they're going to
run a play and Jacoby Brissette is going to get
a pass to Michael Wilson out of a're getting closer
(01:28:01):
and closer to midfield. So Arizona, with forty two seconds
left and no timeouts, now flag on the play and
it's looks like it's penalty against Jacksonville. Yeah, twelve men
on the field as the Jaguars tried to make a substitution,
and they will get a first and five. They will
take the penalty and get five more yards down the field.
(01:28:23):
But again they're gonna need to get about twenty five
yards in the field goal range for Arizona if they
want to tie this thing up.
Speaker 3 (01:28:30):
Yeah, this is a I mean, this is a doable
situation for the Cardinals. I mean, obviously Brissett can get
them down there, but you know, getting getting into the
field goal range indoors In Arizona, it's also indoors as well,
so you know, you don't need you don't need too
many more yardists to attempt the field goal.
Speaker 1 (01:28:46):
Here, they've gotten to the forty two yard line of
their own forty two yard line.
Speaker 7 (01:28:50):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (01:28:50):
Greg Dortch has just caught a pass.
Speaker 1 (01:28:52):
He's gonna move up and now he's They're in Jacksonville
territory with thirty five seconds left to go, So more
makeable scenario for Arizona with plenty of time where you
can still use the middle of the field.
Speaker 2 (01:29:05):
Carry if you want to get in that field goal range.
Speaker 3 (01:29:06):
Absolutely, I mean even right now they're in long, long
field goal range. I mean obviously you want to get closer,
but yeah, I mean right now, Like I said, this
is a ton of time. Thirty five seconds, even with
no timeouts, you can use any part of the field.
Right now, the Browns are up twenty four to ten
on the Raiders. They're basically just running out the clock.
Raiders have no more timeouts. It's a second and seven
for Cleveland and why they can't run it out. They
(01:29:26):
can take off a significant portion of it. Oh, Kobe
Brissett's looking deep and he's got Michael Wilson inside the
ten yard line. Instead of spinning the ball like Wilson does,
he's now got to run and hand it to the referee.
I know it's usually DB's I'm criticizing for some ns. Yeah, Dan,
if I'm I would spike the ball here if I'm Arizona.
(01:29:47):
They're running a play because Jacksonville may just be gassed,
but Arizona's gonna run out of the top if you
don't watch out. And now they look to the back
of the end zone or corner of the end zone
and Michael Wilson it's incomplete.
Speaker 1 (01:29:57):
Yeah, I don't like that. Go Dan going to say,
I think they're thinking everything is chaotic, let's try to
catch him. But I think everybody on Arizona is also gassed. Yeah,
there's no way. You don't you spike the ball there.
Speaker 3 (01:30:08):
You save as much time as you can, You don't
you want to give yourself more opportunity to opportunity to.
Speaker 1 (01:30:13):
Score a touchdown there, Yes, not a field goal. You're
trying to win the game and Chad Ryland is going
to come on to the field to kick. CBS Sports
doing him dirty, saying he's all of one today and
it's missed two of his last three. But I guess
that gives the situation its proper context. It's going to
be a thirty yard field goal. So for Arizona to
(01:30:34):
tie it here at twenty four a piece, you sort
of than an extra point and it's good. So there's
three seconds left Arizona Liam Cohen saying we.
Speaker 2 (01:30:44):
Should have kicked the field goal.
Speaker 3 (01:30:46):
Yeah, and kick the field goal. Now you got to
try to win it with a touchdown. There one more opportunity.
But we just talked about it. It's the same situation
as the Lions and the Giants game. Yes, you don't
take the three. You give the opportunity for the Lion
and in this case the Cardinals to go down and
tie the game. And both were successful at it. And
here's here's where I look at it a little differently.
(01:31:09):
So the Giants aren't the better team, yeah, so I
have no problem. Plus they were inside the ten yard line,
so Detroit would be backed up into their own end
zone in that scenario, I don't mind them going for it.
I think Jacksonville is the better team than Arizona, and
so let's just try to secure victory and let's kick
(01:31:33):
the field goal and make them go as far as
as they can to try to score a touchdown against US. Well,
I'll disagree on you with that one, Dan, and say
the Cardinals are just as talented as the Jacksonville Jaguars.
By the record they are, they have, they're the better team.
But I mean, as you can see, this game has
been evenly matched all day and even you, I think
you picked the Cardinals. I think you said they were
(01:31:57):
plus or whatever. So I don't know if they're the
better team here Jackson Bill. I mean the mortar gain, Yes,
I'll take that for sure.
Speaker 1 (01:32:06):
And so that's that's where where I look at it
is if you kick the if you kick the field
goal in that situation, you go up six. Arizona's exhausted
their timeout, so they're going to be in scramble mode anyway.
And if you kick it deep Arizona took the ball
over at their own twenty yard line, you could figure
out a way to kick it correctly. A kickoff in
(01:32:28):
the in the zone would take time off the clock.
If you wanted to kick it out of the end zone.
You're giving up fifteen yards, but still you would have
to get a lot further to actually score the touchdown
than just settling for a field goal. So, by the way,
I love what the Browns are doing right now. They're
punting from the raiders twenty nine yard line. They just
punted from the Raiders' twenty nine yard line.
Speaker 2 (01:32:50):
More teams need to do this.
Speaker 7 (01:32:53):
You don't have to go for it.
Speaker 1 (01:32:54):
You don't have to try a long field goal and
give them better field position. Just pin them back inside
the ten.
Speaker 3 (01:33:00):
I love it, Dan, old school football baby buddy Ryan
would be We'll be happy right now.
Speaker 1 (01:33:06):
Maybe Jacksonville should have done that instead of going forward
on fourth and two at the twenty two yard line,
they should have punted. That would have been a bit extreme,
But Cleveland up fourteen. They've now got ten sacks there,
one away from a franchise record eleven and the Raiders
are in what looks like we're gonna throw it mode
(01:33:27):
with no time left back at their own ten yard line.
Speaker 3 (01:33:30):
Yea, and they got one more opportunity here to get
this sack and win this game. Have more sacks than
points I'd be so excited. That's what Kerry cares about.
Speaker 2 (01:33:38):
Right now.
Speaker 1 (01:33:39):
It's a ten to ten ball game, Raiders points versus
brown Sacks. No Miles Garrett in the game for Cleveland,
he is done for the day. But Shador Sanders is
about to get a w in his first career start
as an NFL quarterback.
Speaker 3 (01:33:53):
Yeah, it's a big, big day for the Sanders family
for sure to get a win, and especially in game one,
it doesn't matter who you plan pels hard, so to
get a win it's a big deal.
Speaker 1 (01:34:02):
So in the discussions as always of who wins the
toss and who doesn't win the toss, I think Jacksonville
won the toss and took the football, and so then
Arizona got to choose which they want, which way they
wanted to go. So Jacksonville is going to get the
football first in overtime of that twenty four to twenty
four ball game.
Speaker 2 (01:34:21):
And it is over.
Speaker 1 (01:34:22):
Shador Sanders one to zero as a starter in his career.
It snaps a seventeen game losing streak for a quarterback
making their first career start in a Brown's uniform. Sador
Sanders winning percentage perfect right now, one point zero zero,
one hundred percent. Brown's gonna win over the Raiders today
twenty four to ten. Now, the two other games, we
(01:34:43):
didn't ignore what was happening in Dallas, but it's still
a twenty one all ball game. Eight minutes to go
in that contest, while the Falcons lead the Saints twenty
four to ten in New Orleans, Atlanta with the football
as well as they near the end of that contest
in the Big Easy he is Kerrie Rhodes.
Speaker 2 (01:34:58):
I'm Dan Beyer.
Speaker 1 (01:34:59):
Who gonna win in the NFC E showdown and overtime
in the desert. It's all next to your on Endzone
Radio on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 10 (01:35:06):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in

Speaker 11 (01:35:21):
Prescott on second down back and runs up out of
the pocket, runs to his left to the town to.
Speaker 16 (01:35:26):
The five touch to his life, summer shot life, tup down, touchdown,
Fuck hap them, touchdown, push down, You're.
Speaker 10 (01:35:35):
Through all the summer folk and eight yards.
Speaker 5 (01:35:38):
Scramble on there.
Speaker 10 (01:35:39):
And extra point away from coming all the way back
back to Dan Byer and Carry Rhoades.
Speaker 1 (01:35:45):
Then on the Dallas Cowboys Radio networking, the Cowboys just
got a Philadelphia turnover. They're set up in a Golden
Gold situation.
Speaker 7 (01:35:52):
It is end Zone Radio.
Speaker 1 (01:35:54):
While we're in overtime in Arizona, the Cardinals are facing
a third and four down to the Jags twenty seven
to twenty four. Jacksonville kicked a field goal on their
opening possession of overtime, so the Cardinals need a field
goal to tie a score. Would a touchdown would win
it for Arizona. If Jacksonville can get the stop, they
(01:36:14):
will be at seven and four. It is end Zone Radio.
The other game going on right now, pretty much a
foregone conclusion that the Falcons are going to get a
victory today over the Saints. It's twenty four to ten
in favor of Atlanta. But the play that caused this fumble,
Marquise Bell of the Cowboys ended up making the hit
(01:36:38):
on Tayshawn Gibson. I believe that's what it was. Actually
Elijah Clark who actually did. Yeah, that play Bell was
in mc Clark had the bigger hit. Bell was in
on the play as well, and that sets the Cowboys
up first in goal at the eight yard line.
Speaker 3 (01:36:56):
Dan, that clock play is something you've showed to every
special team that's trying to make a team. I mean,
obviously the offense and defense gets all the credit a
lot of times, but it takes all three phases to
win games. Clark was pretty much bullied on that plan,
knocked down as a gunner getting down, but the effort
to get back up, get back and make a play
was huge in that moment.
Speaker 1 (01:37:15):
So there's under five minutes to go. Cowboys is second
in goal, clock is ticking. They're tied up at twenty
one with Philadelphia. You watch Dallas. I'm gonna tell you
what's happening in Arizona right now. Jacoby Brissett just scrambled
for a first down. So it's first and ten for
Arizona at their own thirty eight yard line. They got
a fresh set of downs, and now Trey McBride has
caught a pass to get into Jacksonville territory. It'll be
(01:37:35):
first and ten at the Jaguar forty eight yard line.
Speaker 3 (01:37:38):
Back on the second down play, tried to run the
neked bootleg to get to the corner, got to the corner,
got pushed out around the one yard line. So it's
third down here in the Dallas in Philly game.
Speaker 1 (01:37:47):
If you're Dallas and you get into this situation, you
just take the points if you're unable to convert a
third and goal here.
Speaker 3 (01:37:56):
This will go against everything that I've always talked about
with you, Dan, I always say take the point, yes,
but yeah, I'll probably take the points.
Speaker 1 (01:38:02):
Dan, I still will take the take the two yard line.
Speaker 6 (01:38:05):
I know.
Speaker 1 (01:38:05):
I know the Cardinals getting closer and closer to field
goal range, but again, they've got all the decisions that
they need to make in the world that can go
for the victory. Again, a field goal would tie it
if it ends up being in that situation for Arizona.
So it's a second and five for them and Dallas
unable to convert on their third down play.
Speaker 3 (01:38:24):
Oh man, I mean ceedee. Lamb's complaining about a ball here.
He just catch the ball. He was telling the quarterback
to throw them what's at the corner. But CD has
had a couple of drops this game.
Speaker 1 (01:38:34):
Hit him in the bread baskets. Yeah, went right, and
he was complaining into the quarterback. Those wide receivers. That's
fourth and goal. Dallas has made the decision that they're
going for it. Yeah, the Cardinals has gotten some big
plays from Greg Dortz. Just tried to run a little
wide receiver screen on second and five, couldn't get it.
Speaker 2 (01:38:52):
So now now it's decision time for Arizona for what
you're going to call.
Speaker 1 (01:38:56):
Aside from the Cowboys goal to goal situation from the two,
I agree. Actually, I think that going for it here is.
Speaker 2 (01:39:02):
The right play.
Speaker 1 (01:39:03):
Philadelphia hasn't done anything in the second half. They've turned
the ball over a couple of times, they moved the ball,
but three point thirty eight left to go.
Speaker 2 (01:39:11):
Your defense is playing well. I think Dallas made the
right call, and.
Speaker 1 (01:39:14):
That's the point though.
Speaker 3 (01:39:15):
I mean, you've had some turnovers here, but I don't
know if they completely stopped him you know here. But again,
I mean, Dallas made a decision to go for it.
We'll see if it bites him in the butt here,
because all I mean, Philly only needs three points to
win this game, so we'll see.
Speaker 1 (01:39:29):
Now, Jacoby Brissett has just thrown an incomplete pass batted
down on a third and four, So it's it's ballgame
time in jack in Arizona. With Jacksonville up on the
Cardinals twenty seven to twenty four. It's a fourth and
for Arizona at the Jacksonville forty two yard line. You
just you can't kick a sixty one yard field goal
(01:39:51):
right now, And we mentioned Chad Ryland's had some issues kicking.
He made the one at the end of regulation. But
I actually agree with it Arizona. I think that they
have to go for it. In this scenario, I would
call a timeout. You have two of them. This is
the most important play of the ball game here on
a fourth and fourth. They may try to draw Jacksonville
(01:40:13):
off sides and then call their time out to be
quite honest, and get a play that they want. But
if you don't call the timeout, then Jacksonville I think
that that could be a possibility. But instead the Cardinals
are going to end up running a play and Jacoby
Brissett is going for it all and it is incomplete,
and the Jaguars are going to escape the desert with
(01:40:34):
a twenty seven to twenty four victory. An interesting call
in that scenario because it ends up throwing it into
double coverage carry. You're a safety. You see that sort
of play, it looks like you have one on one
but that wasn't the case. No, no, no, that's safety
is back there deep. The quarterback has to throw that
ball down the numbers there. He threw it right down
(01:40:56):
the middle of the field. You can't take that guy
and lead them straight to the middlefield safety. And it
wasn't to Greg Dortch or Michael Wilson or to try McBride.
They actually looked to double tray McBride in that scenario.
So the ball falls incomplete in Jacksonville seven and four.
The rest of the AFC were fans of the Arizona Cardinals,
(01:41:17):
but they could not get it done. Xavier Weaver was
the intended receiver. He is one catch for nine yards
on the game and then the most important play. I
don't know if that's the I just I don't think
that that's the throw that you want to make if
you're Arizona, I have four minutes to go.
Speaker 3 (01:41:33):
I'm sure there was better plays, but you gave the
guy a chance to make a play. Jacksonville was better
on the play. I would have called the time out again.
Speaker 1 (01:41:40):
I would have figured out there's got to be something
where you're like in a short yardage situation when we
are must need that time wasn't of the factor.
Speaker 2 (01:41:50):
Time wasn't an issue. You had four minutes left in
the game.
Speaker 1 (01:41:52):
You have to figure out a way where you're going
to get a field goal, and chucking one down the
field just doesn't make a lot of sense. Cardinals are
three and eight, Jaguars seven and four with that win, again,
another impressive win. There may not be a lot of
difference between those two teams. But Jacksonville right now, is
you mentioned it now in the thick of things in
the AFC South because of the Colts loss earlier today?
(01:42:14):
That's right?
Speaker 3 (01:42:14):
I mean, as crazy as it sounds, I mean those
two teams coming into this year, I don't think anybody
had two I mean high hope some one we thought
that Houston would win that division, right, So now we
got a three way abouttle. Houston's goting to pick up
steam as well, so that the division's going to be
interesting as the season moves on.
Speaker 1 (01:42:30):
The Eagles and Cowboys. So the only show left going
is Atlanta has closed out the Saints twenty four to
ten in that contest. Is the Falcons snap a five
game losing streak in the NFC South, Kirk Cousins, You're
winning quarterback today and oh what could have been for
Dallas at the two minute warning? Ceedee lamb let one go,
(01:42:51):
as you mentioned, and he still talking about it's the quarterback,
Faul Dan Well, it is is running doubt. Blame Dak. Yeah, right,
that's the motto. He's carry rods on Dan byer it's
end zone radio. Let's go to the news desk. Monci Belanos,
get us caught up to date with everything as we're
at the two minute warning in Dallas and the rest
of the action is complete.
Speaker 2 (01:43:10):
What's going on, Manzi?
Speaker 5 (01:43:10):
What a game in Dallas? Eagles we're up twenty one zero, right, yes, right,
it was twenty one zero, right, and then I know
the Cowboys got in the end zone right before the half,
and so it was twenty one and to seven, but
erased twenty one points and we have a tie game
in Dallas. So we'll keep you updated on that. But
Browns beat the Raiders twenty four to ten. Shador Sanders
(01:43:31):
the anticipated start. He was eleven of twenty for two
hundred and nine yards, one touchdown and one interception. Sanders
became the first Browns quarterback since Eric zier Yes nineteen
ninety five. To win his first career NFL start, snapping
a seventeen game losing streak with every single time that
they had a Brown new quarterback. So way to go, Shador,
Way to go. Jaguars survived twenty seven to twenty four
(01:43:55):
and overtime against the Cardinals, so Jacksonville is now seven
and four Falcons. They just topped the Saints twenty four
to ten, So Falcons improve improved to four and seven.
Saints fall to two and nine would happen earlier today
while the Lions took down the Giants in overtime. It
was a fun game. If you missed it and you
have it recorded, go watch it. It was finn Lions
won at thirty four to twenty seven. It had a
(01:44:15):
little bit of everything. But the Giants are the first
team officially eliminated from playoff contention. The Bears win another one.
Their defense held on to defeat the Steelers thirty one
to twenty eight. Caleb Williams threw for two hundred and
thirty nine yards and three touchdowns. Ravens also won another one.
They took down the Jets twenty three to ten. Derrick
Henry with two rushing touchdowns. The Packers improved to seven
to three and one as they rolled past the Vikings
(01:44:38):
twenty three to six. Earlier, also the Seahawks taking down
the Titans thirty to twenty four with Jackson, Smith and
Jigba had eight catches, one hundred and sixty seven yards
and two touchdowns. The Chiefs improved to six and five,
keeping their playoff hopes alive. They walked it off with
the field goal to defeat the Colts in overtime twenty
three to twenty. Patrick Mahomes threw an interception on his
(01:45:00):
opening drive. It did not look good for the Chiefs
right from the beginning, and they managed to win it.
The Patriots, they won nine in a row. They defeated
the Bengals twenty six to twenty. It's the first time
they won nine in a row since twenty fifteen. Drake
May threw for two hundred and ninety four yards, one
touchdown and one interception that was a pick six. In
college football, if you care, Florida State announced that Mike
(01:45:20):
Norvel is going to stay as their head football coach.
They made that announcement earlier today. When it comes to
the NBA Nuggets, Ford Aaron Gordon suffered a great two
hamstring strain. He's going to be reevaluated in four to
six weeks. Also, Rocket star Kevin Durant he's not going
to play Monday in Phoenix or Wednesday against Golden State
as he's tending to a family matter right now. In
the NBA, the Clippers are losing to the Cavaliers seventy
(01:45:41):
one to sixty one, Visa Zubots fourteen points and twelve rebounds,
four La Celtics over the Magic eighty seven to sixty three.
Both of these are still early in the third quarter,
and the Hornets and the Hawks, if you care, are
tied at seventy five late in the third quarter. Back
to you guys, thank.
Speaker 1 (01:45:56):
You very much, Moncie. The Cowboys just give a huge
sack on third and two. So now Jalen Hurt's unable
to get rid of the football carry and they lose
significant yardage on the play. So Dak Prescott and crew
with all three timeouts with Brandon Aubrey as your kicker,
now we'll have an opportunity to maybe put this game
(01:46:18):
in their favor.
Speaker 17 (01:46:19):
In this twenty one twenty one deadlock. Wow, yeah, I
mean it's a huge play. About a Dallas Cowboys defense.
If you called it, Dan, you said they've been stopping
Philly all second half and come up and get a
big stop here, So maybe the going four on fourth
down will be validated that they can get a score here.
Speaker 2 (01:46:35):
I want to mention something.
Speaker 1 (01:46:37):
First of all, Kerry and I will be in for
Doug Gottlieb tomorrow here on Fox Sports Radio. That's because
Doug's Green Bay Phoenix ended up beating you Mass yesterday.
So they will play at the Paradise Jam and the
Virgin Islands during showtime. So it's gonna be you and me,
and we'll be recapping everything that we've seen in week
twelve and probably talking a lot about what's happening in
Dallas right now. We'll also be talking about what happened
(01:47:00):
in Kansas City, and Monzi mentioned it. The game statistically
by the Chiefs was dominated by Kansas City. They had
the ball in the overtime contest for forty two minutes
compared to twenty five minutes of what Indianapolis had. They
had thirty three first downs compared to ten first downs
by Indianapolis today totally yardage wise, almost doubled them up
(01:47:21):
four ninety four to two fifty five and rushing the
football and shutting down Jonathan Taylor like they did. Kansas
City got one hundred and four yards from Kareem Hunt
did it on thirty carries, but they had one hundred
and forty eight yards on the ground as a team.
They did all of that and needed over time to
beat the Indianapolis Colts, and I get a win as
(01:47:44):
a win. This this is part of what we're seeing,
this equation with Kansas City where they just completely are
in control and dominant in the game and they don't
lead until the end. Now, the early turnover that Monsie
talks about, the turn that they had on the first possession,
setting up the Colts in great position to get their
(01:48:05):
first touchdown of the game. That stuff happens, but that
also lends to the stats that Indianapolis was able to
score with not doing much. My point being in all
of this is when we look at the construction of
Kansas City, and it goes back to a point earlier
today when we were talking about how we look at
teams offensively and defensively and who's strong and who's not strong.
(01:48:27):
I just think that Kansas City today is a perfect
example in a win on why they probably aren't the
threat outside of what the name says on the scoreboard,
because I just don't think that there's enough personnel around
to do anything that is dangerous or makes teams afraid.
(01:48:48):
The only thing that they're afraid of is Patrick Mahomes.
So that's just where we look at things with Kansas City.
Speaker 3 (01:48:55):
Yeah, no, that they're a team that's very much flaw
like most teams are. But they were making a good
point on during the broadcast of that game. I think
it was Romo and those guys, they do everything inside
the numbers right, and so the margin of era is
very small there. They don't have anybody on the outside
that consistently wins as far as their route runners go.
(01:49:17):
And so you know, Rashid Rice is great, but he's
still like an in between guy. He's a guy that
you know, they do a lot of stuff, even like
wildcat stuff. He's like in between. He's a middle guy.
Speaker 2 (01:49:26):
Word.
Speaker 3 (01:49:26):
He's a speed guy, but he's not like a great
route runner. So Patrick Mahomes doesn't have a guy that
can he can depend on the win one on one,
like if I need an out route on the outside,
this guy is gonna get it. It just doesn't doesn't
have that. So a lot of stuff that when you
watch them, it's a lot of junk stuff. And Patrick
Mahomes makes a lot of plays happen in the middle there.
Speaker 1 (01:49:44):
Cowboys taking over first and ten after I think a
pun hit the scoreboarder hit a cable at to redo it.
Jake Ferguson caught the first down pass fumbled it out
of bounds, so the Cowboys will get it second two.
Speaker 2 (01:49:55):
But that was almost disaster for Dallas. Stots an area
that would have been for sure. Here we go again.
Speaker 1 (01:50:01):
They just need to get into field goal range. But
Dallas on a second in three running a handoff to
Javonte Williams.
Speaker 2 (01:50:08):
Here's also a scenario.
Speaker 1 (01:50:09):
If you're the Cowboys, you obviously want to get a
first down, but knowing that Philadelphia has all three of
their timeouts, you would maybe make them want to use it,
and they didn't Dallas. Dallas used their own timeout in
that scenario. Dallas just called the time. I don't know
why you would do that. In a third and short
(01:50:31):
carry with a minute to go, Philadelphia's got all three
you need. You need about twenty five yards to get
into Brandon Aubrey field goal range. So I would just
let the clock go as much as you can, and
if you have to punt it away because you don't
get it on third down, make Philadelphia use the timeout.
(01:50:52):
Time is not of a factor for the Cowboys. They
have it first third and two at their thirty five
yard line.
Speaker 3 (01:50:58):
I mean, even that minimum, if you're going to all
the time out, wait till one second left, sure you
know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (01:51:03):
Like, if that's the case, yeah, I would not want
to give the football back to just to Philadelphia with
any time in this scenario, and you're able to control
the time, and honestly, keeping that timeout is much more valuable.
Speaker 2 (01:51:15):
They're able to hook up dak Is with.
Speaker 1 (01:51:19):
Jake Ferguson on a first down to about the Philadelphia
forty five yard line. So now if you're Dallas in
that scenario, he stays in bounds, the clock keeps on ticking,
Brandon Aubrey's on the sideline. Dallas just used their final timeout.
Why why did they call the time out? There? I
(01:51:42):
you need Here's what you can do in this situation
is you still have a majority of the field, but
to work with you can you don't have to work
on the sidelines. What Dallas is going to need to
do is you just if you are throwing to the
middle of the field, You're gonna have to make a
(01:52:02):
decision in that moment. Do you run and snap it.
Do you let the clock run down and wait to
spike it? Do you force Philadelphia to use a time
out in that situation? And maybe Philadelphia will, but Dallas
is gonna end up having to to make a decision
one way or another now that they don't have any timeouts.
It's actually down at the forty six yard line, so
(01:52:25):
Philadelphia forty six yard line, you'll need a couple of
more yards.
Speaker 2 (01:52:28):
Again, Brandon Aubrey.
Speaker 1 (01:52:29):
Missed a fifty one yard or earlier, but that length
is no problem for the Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (01:52:34):
And in all actuality here, if you know, if Dallas
doesn't get the first down, Philly is going to call
all the time out as well. So it's still they're
gonna get some stoppages here to make sure they run
what they want to run as well.
Speaker 1 (01:52:44):
Yes, but Dallas needs yards like they still need to
They still need to like get a I understand that
Brandon Aubrey's got a strong leg yeah, yeah, And if
you want him to kick a sixty four yard or
for the win, that's fine. But because of the time
situation and when you use your timeouts, there's still going
(01:53:05):
to be time on the clock. So if you kick
a sixty four yard or that he doesn't make, Philadelphia
can go out there whether there's eighteen seconds still on
the clock, and they could get an opportunity to end
up trying to kick their own game winning field goal
if you decide to kick it from that distance. I
just that's that's the part where I disagree on what
(01:53:28):
how they oh, no, on the same page with how
they handled it. I don't especially the last one. The
first one, maybe third and two.
Speaker 3 (01:53:35):
They want to get their best play, understand that, But
that second time out was I didn't like that one
at all.
Speaker 1 (01:53:40):
So here's a second and ten and I think you
have to throw the ball here. I don't think you
just hand it off to Javonte Williams. I don't know
why you would, Right, well, you gotta get yards there
you go, And so they do to George Pickens, who
may be on his way. He bet hold on bit
what yeah he did? I actually think George Pickens could
have scored. Yeah, I think so too, Dan, And I
almost want to if he just cooled his jets a
(01:54:01):
little bit to allow him to stay in bounds. But
I think he could have scored in that scenario if
he really wanted to. But he's going to be tackled
down at the twenty yard line. So now all is
good for Dallas in that scenario because now Philadelphia doesn't
have a way to get the football back and Dallas
can kick their field goal. Is now Philadelphia is just
(01:54:22):
down to their one timeout.
Speaker 3 (01:54:25):
Yeah, Pickens is fortunate there to not have the ball strip.
We've seen it just thought earlier with Sakwan right from behind.
These guys got to pay attention to know that these
guys are hustling from behind and get the ball out.
Speaker 1 (01:54:35):
Could have scored. Oh, he would have scored if he
would not have eased up. And I think that he
thought that he was going to be hit from the
front and he ended up being hit from behind them.
There's a different, different injury on the field that is
causing the delay. So the Cowboys are set up for
(01:54:56):
a possible game winning field goal. Philadelphia has got the
just one time out left, so Dallas is going to
be in prime position to steal a win at twenty
four to twenty one if Brandon Aubrey can get that lead.
This is this scenario here, thirty five seconds left on
(01:55:16):
the clock. Are they still tending to the injury on
the field because we may have to take a timeout
because of the situation, we are going to do so.
Cowboys in prime position to win this one. Philadelphia really
nothing that they can do except stop to clock. Once

Aubrey ends up being the hero for the Dallas Cowboys,
kicking a field goal with no time left. Dallas wins

going go on to run and make it interesting for
that last wild card spot. That makes by the way,
