Harmon household have always called the naptastrophe. You sit down
and it's not quite the I'm going to close my
eyes moment of years past, but you sit down to

(00:29):
watch a game and maybe you're only half invested, which
means at some point you miss, say the third quarter,
and you wake up going what's going on? Hopefully you
got a few of those along the way, as well
as sometime with some family and friends where honor to
be back with you here on a beautiful Sunday. Mark
and Brianna gonna make us sound so pretty, don't do
it myself. Mike Harment alongside my guy Greg Cosel forty

(00:50):
six years NFL Film the NFL Matchup Show on each
and every Thursday, one pm Eastern Time, fifteen to twenty
minutes of glorious film, breakdow Out with Colin Coward on
the Network, Catch that FS one, and of course here
Fox Sports Radio at Greg Cosell on Twitter the man,
the legend, the myth himself. Happy holiday, holiday holiday to you,

(01:11):
mister Cosel. How are you this morning?

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Mike? I got a question before we start? What is
in your coffee this morning? Man? You are fired up? Well?

Speaker 2 (01:19):
I got a couple of you know, very randomly, you
know it once in a while to take a couple
of days off. I mean, the Bears already won, So
my thingite, right part is already like that muscle has
already been flexed a little.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
I mean, I'm sure, I'm sure you had the Bears,
you know, with the record that they had on your
bingo card before the season started, right.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
Well, I thought they might get to this win total
when we were done in week seventeen? Wow, did you
really well? Fifteen? I should say?

Speaker 3 (01:43):
But I've won niner their last ten. I mean that's
pretty impressive.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Amazing run, certainly, and you'd hope to see stride. So
this wi'll start. We got the return of Joe Burrow,
the break of Lamar Jack. I mean, there's so many
story launch just from the four games already completed of
today's day. So were you in in your office? Did
they have to slide your food trade? Did you come
out for a bit. I mean, how does holidays work

(02:09):
in a man in a man's world where you're breaking
down film, Greg, like you do you? Well?

Speaker 3 (02:13):
Yeah, Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, I was actually I was in
the office at five thirty and worked till twelve thirty
and then we went to you know, the family event.
Friday was just a normal workday for me. I worked
from oh, I guess seven thirty to six thirty at night,
and yesterday I did a little work. And I'm always
in really early. I mean I'm on the East Coast obviously,

(02:35):
so it's eight o'clock for me. But I always get
in a Sunday morning around five point fifteen and watch
you know, Look, there were four games, so I needed to,
you know, because I know we're going to talk about them,
and you know me, Mike, I don't talk about these
games based on watching it on TV, because I learned
long ago that you know, TV lies, highlights really lie.
So I've got to see the coaching tape.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Yeah, the highlights certainly woolf fool you we watched. Yeah,
body of that, I mean, include whatever sports you want,
but certainly football based on the camera angle that gives
the best reaction shot is the one you're gonna see
one hundred times, not the full picture from the cheap
seats as it were. Are the high definition cameras nowadays

(03:17):
that give us a look at everything, Greg. So that
that's the beauty of what we get to do here
and blessed to do it with you at Greg Goseut
for all the latest. You see some of the video
accompaniment to what we're doing. Otherwise, he paints a beautiful picture.
You know, insert your favorite artists, maybe a little Susan maybe,
maybe maybe a little Pollock every once in a while

(03:38):
with what we have to do with some of these games, Greg,
But we start, you know, you mentioned as we do
the Bears with winners of nine to ten. You got
Ben Jonson run around with his shirt off in the
post game. Good, better, best and all of that. That's
starting to really take off there in Chicago and people
starting to believe. You know, we did a bitas Smith

(04:00):
and I before the holiday kind of talking about the
parallel lines between how the Chiefs had won last year
and it wasn't winning pretty, no, But you're making plays
when they count, executing as it matters, and that's a
lot of what you're seeing the same thing here. It's
the old eighty three White Sox winning ugly by any

(04:22):
means necessary late fourth quarter comebacks. But this one against Philadelphia,
I mean, this was, if we're gonna put it in
artist terms, this is the one you're hanging in the
front hallway, so everybody gets a look. Sie on the
way in. Two runners over one hundred yards Peyton and Suey.
I mean, we get to talk about that. Suey for

(04:42):
crying out loud on a morning. As Mark is a
Chicago guy, our technical producer, he is smiling for me
to hear because you get to hear that stat But
in terms of a complete effort, that was the Bears.
To me, that was their masterpiece through thirteen weeks.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
Well that's really the run game. I think that's set
the tone. No one would have expected that going in.
I mean, you had two backs that combined for forty
rushes for two hundred and fifty five yards. There's no
way going into that game you thought they'd get forty
rushes out of two backs. And they really focused almost exclusively,
not every play, but almost exclusively on the outside zone

(05:22):
run game, and boy, they just dominated with that and
the Eagles. In a sense, they played it exactly the
way you cannot play outside zone. They played it laterally.
It's because you know what outside zone is not a
complicated concept, because what you're trying to do with outside
zone is stretch the front side or the play side

(05:42):
and seal or cut off the backside. That's what outside
zone is. So if the defensive line is going to
play laterally, they're just playing right into what you want
to do. And that's the way the Eagles played it,
and there's no way they were taught to play it
that way. It was just one of those games where
it's snowballed and they never really got out of playing

(06:03):
it what is essentially the wrong way.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
Forty for two fifty five, two touchdowns between Montaguy and Swift,
Caleb Williams past for one hundred and fifty four five carries,
thirteen yards on the ground. Stats that just pop off
the page, and once again, like we're taking the glass
half full approach again, leaning into my Chicago dumb and

(06:28):
I don't know, Hey, maybe I watched kicking and screaming
with Ditka and Robert Duvall yelling at each other. Yeah,
you gempired for the week.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
You can gloat it a little bit. Hey, your bear's
one nine out of ten, you know, come on, you're allowed.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
Yeah, I'll take it because you know, in our business
a lot of folks disavow the their heritage and history. Hey,
I'm not a fan like no, you're just not showing
it out. There's a player you're allowed to roots four.
I'm not putting the big jade journalist. I'm not pretending.
I am a radio stye am a loud mouth, and

(07:01):
I come from the South side of Chicago. There you
got pain slogan right there.

Speaker 3 (07:05):
So you're allowed. You're allowed, you know. But it's funny.
Obviously there's been so much talk about the Eagles, but
to me, it's pretty interesting now. Obviously the Eagles on
offense are not executing at what you'd call a high level.
Obviously that's not a profound statement, but when it comes
to the passing game, in some ways, the passing game

(07:25):
is not really a whole lot different than it was
a year ago. The difference is is the run game
was the dominant feature, and Barkley was the most dominant
back in the league a year ago and one of
the most dominant running back seasons that we've ever seen,
quite frankly, and they're not getting that at all. So
the pass game, it's really, as I said, no different.

(07:49):
Keep this in mind, hurts. I think, including the playoffs
last year started eighteen games, I believe, or nineteen games,
maybe a few more. But theo is is nine or
ten of those games, Mike he didn't throw for two
hundred yards. He threw for less than two hundred yards.
But because of Barkley and the fact that he had

(08:09):
big explosive runs seemingly every single week, that's what their
offense was. They were not a passing offense a year ago.
So in terms of the passing offense, and again I
personally don't think that conceptually it's particularly good with what
they do from a route concept and combination perspective. But
on the other hand, in terms of production, it's not

(08:32):
meaningfully different than it was a year ago. The difference is,
is there a running football team that has been unable
to run the ball, and they got so many explosive
plays out of the run game a year ago, which
by the way, is fairly rare in the NFL. But
Barkley did it a year ago at a ridiculously high level.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
Yeah, you look at Barkley in a bit of a
seesaw kind of thing. I was liking it. And this
is where I wrap people of well, my age into things.
When we were coming into our age of love baseball
and all things sport. Brett Saber and famously in the
eighties had a run Cy Young, pretty good, Cy Young,
pretty good. That's sakwon Barkley the last four years. So

(09:12):
you go to twenty twenty two to thirteen hundred yards
four point four carry, ten touchdowns with the Giants, twenty
twenty three three point nine yards per carry, and six
touchdowns twenty twenty four with the Eagles five point eight
yards per carry. The thirteen touchdowns obviously still active in
the passing game goes over two thousand yards this year,
four touchdowns, three point seven yards per carry. Lane Johnson

(09:36):
missing is a big deal. But right now Patulo coming
under fire. But I couldn't help. I don't know how
many times or how much time you spend in the
social media sphere. Greg the decision by Jalen Hurts to
not even look in the direction of a wide open
Dallas Goddard, who could have been adding like a kid
through yeah field.

Speaker 3 (09:57):
That is let me tell you something. You obviously I've
been doing this a long time. That was an irrelevant
part of the play. And see the people that focus
on that. You know, to be honest with you don't
understand the play because what happened was the Bears rush six. Okay,
they essentially played a soft zero coverage on the back end.

(10:19):
They actually blew the coverage, but they essentially were playing
a soft zero coverage and they rushed six and they
had a spy, so that means they only had four
in coverage and it was an empty formation, so they
were five receivers that were split. So my assumption is
that Jalen Hurts knew that. So when you know that,

(10:40):
you speed up everything you do, and when you take
the snap, you look to one side. You're not reading
the full field because they're bringing more people than you
can block. So he looked to his left. He did
not look to his right. He looked to his left,
and by the way, DeVonta Smith was wide open. He
didn't make the wrong he didn't make the wrong decision.

(11:04):
You know, this was the you know, when I saw
the play on tape, because I obviously knew that this
was a play that on social media people just railing
about as a big issue. But Goddard opened down the
scene was not relevant to the play whatsoever, because that's
not where Hurtz was looking versus major zero pressure. And

(11:25):
if he had stuck the ball right on Smith, Smith
may have scored and we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
Goddard straight into the end zone, right.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
He just made a bad throw. But the Goddard opened
down the scene was not relevant to the play.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
It's kind of like a player being off sides in soccer.
Is he relevant to the play? Maybe? Maybe not, so
you don't call it.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
But I don't know nothing about soccer, so I'll leave
that to you.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
I was just giving a wink at a nod to
those folks that watch their their kids games and go, wait,
what how is that? Okay, they weren't part of the play,
so there wasn't there.

Speaker 3 (11:59):
A great album title and something like a nod is
as good as a wink, or a wink is as
good as a nod to a blind horse. I think
that was an album title.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
I don't know if there's a blind horse involved. Seems
like one that would have found yeah.

Speaker 3 (12:11):
It might have been. It might have been a Rod
Stewart album. We're gonna we're gonna check that well while
we're chatting.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
Absolutely, we'll make sure we get that in. But right
he went to suicide, he had both guys split it
with aj Brown and DeVante Smith there and just hits them.
If he hits them in stride coming back across the middle,
it's an easy, huge gain at a minimum. Instead it's
behind him and falls hard.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
So yeah, so I mean that's you know, when I
see stuff like that, and and and then when I
saw the tape, you know, I knew immediately the whole
Goddard thing is just that's because they're struggling and they've
been easy to rip because of their offense. And believe me,
I have talked about the fact that their their past
game from a concept standpoint and a route combination standpoint,
is fairly elementary and remedial. There's no question about that.

(12:58):
That's what the tape tells you. So yeah, so that
becomes an easy mark, but that was not really relevant
to the play.

Speaker 2 (13:06):
Yeah, I think this is also, you know, just going
the offense overalls for sake. On Barkley, we've talked about
what a difficult season it's been. If there was ever
a get right kind of situation, right, the Bears still
missing all their linebackers. Yeah, in the last three weeks,
they'd been giving up an average one hundred and sixty
yards per game on the ground, and there was no

(13:26):
traction at all from the Yeah, the Eagles run game
once again.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
No, no, I mean, and you know, it's funny. It
was an odd game because it was the Eagles had
that ninety two yard drive in the third quarter to
make a ten to nine that ended with the Brown
thirty three yard touchdown catch where it was simply one
on one he ran the out and go versus Nishan Wright,
who's actually played very well at corner for them. But
you know that's what Brown does, those one on ones

(13:52):
on the outside. And then they got the ball back
an excellent field position, and you know, watching the game,
you probably felt, oh, this is kind of like an
Eagles game right now. You know, they don't score a lot,
but you know, things start to happen and then they're
gonna go ahead. I'm sure you watched it and at
that point you probably felt, you know, hey, this is
not looking great. For the Bears. Right now, the Eagles
are sort of on there, you know, they're kind of

(14:14):
playing Eagles football. And then, of course you had the
Toush push fumble, and that seemed to change everything because
then the Bears went you know, scored on that drive
to make it seventeen to nine, and it seemed like
everything went back in the Bears favor. But up to
that point, the game was as poor as the Eagles
were in the first half, and they ran seventeen plays Mike,

(14:35):
in the first half. That's unheard of. I mean, that's
the Bears had forty four offensive plays to the Eagles
seventeen in the first half. That is truly unheard.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
Of, nearly twenty two minutes time of possession. Yeah, obviously,
the Elliott no good pat after that thirty three yard
touchdown pass, they get the ball back after a pick,
and then the Toush push fumble. That becomes one of
the great debated plays of all time, right because of
so much ink and verbiage having been slung on this topic.

(15:09):
I love the fact that, all right, if you're not
gonna call forward progress and you don't have the blocker
on the left side come in and go peanut, punch
it and do whatever you can and jam away until
someone stops you.

Speaker 3 (15:20):
Yeah, so that changed the game a bit, But I
just thought that that, you know, the biggest question, the
thing that was probably most surprising in the game overall
was the Eagles run defense, because no one would have
had that as oh, that's the way this game was
going to play out, that the Bears are going to
run with two backs running forty times for two hundred

(15:42):
and fifty five yards.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
And even as they've run the ball well because they're
at the top of the NFL in terms of yards
per game as a as a tandem ad Caleb Wore
was rushing in. But this is one of those rubber
meets the road, big home stand canceled the noise and
instead you get run on that way. So a big
effort of in for the Bears, and we'll see what

(16:06):
the this schedule holds for them. Obviously the Green Bay
was of huge interest in Green Bay this week. So
another big test. And as we continue here, it's Fox
Football Sunday, Fox Sports Radio. Enough about uh me and

(18:09):

We appreciate you giving us a few minutes of your
times on the highways and byways. Be safe out there,
be smart, check in on your people, all of those
fun things. As we get ready for a big week

(18:31):
Week thirteen, National Football League, most of the interesting matchups
from at least where I sit, Greg, I mean we
got a lot of like one side for a lot
of these matchups later on, highly intriguing. But the games
as a whole, I think the four that we've already
seen were probably the most interesting.

Speaker 3 (18:51):
Assolate right, Oh, they were fascinating games, I mean, and
certainly the first two on Thanksgiving Day turned out to
be great games. And obviously the one because of Burrow,
you know, it was very very compelling.

Speaker 2 (19:03):
Well, let's start right there. Let's hear little Joe Burrow
shotgun staff. Joe under pressure, flings it down the middle
of the flow Yo see Bosh leaves it.

Speaker 3 (19:12):
The three hence takes it into the end zone.

Speaker 5 (19:15):
A twenty eight yard touchdown to Andre Yo Si Bosh
and the Bengals lead is back to eleven with a
pat coming.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
Up, say it loud and probably shivash his only catch
of the game of twenty nine yards on that touchdown
reception thirty two fourteen your final as Joe Burrow makes
us return twenty four of forty six, two sixty one
and two. We've been watching the Ravens for the last
couple of weeks, Greg going all right, when's the step
up in class? Uh? And then we got while he

(19:46):
loves the batmobile. Bought one of those for three million bucks.
We'll see if he ever actually gets it. But while
Warner Brothers trying to you know, raise your one.

Speaker 3 (19:55):
Yeah, you're a fountain of information this morning, Mike.

Speaker 2 (19:57):
Well you know what, the caffeine starts flowing and just
the random details that live in stories past. Get to
come back to fruition here to color the paint. Because
he put his cape on, putting down a cowl and
got after it.

Speaker 3 (20:11):
That dome is indeed swollen this morning.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
Thanks buddy. So Joe Burrow twenty four to forty six,
happy returns taking advantage of the opportunity. Chase Brown another
one hundred yard total yard game from him on his
twenty two touches. No t Higgins out with the concussion,
but jempor Chase seven for one ten on his fourteen targets.
Spread the ball around. And for Joe Burrow, a guy

(20:36):
that we questioned whether he'd be back at all. I mean,
we know the competitor, we know that he's played through
injury and pain before, but this one on a big
primetime game, in a division game, to maybe give them
a little bit of love and hope for the stretch run,
but certainly also to dash a little bit of the
feel good that is Baltimore.

Speaker 3 (20:58):
You know, it's we were talking in my matchup room.
Actually a couple of guys came in on Friday as well,
so we were just talking that. Imagine if they went
out now, they've got some tough games coming up. Obviously
they're gonna play Buffalo, They're gonna have a rematch with
Baltimore coming up. But you know that Yoshovash touchdown, which
we heard the radio call. I'm not gonna go into

(21:19):
detail on it because there's about ten beautiful elements to
that play. That play was just a great snapshot of
the chess match at work and how Burrow just sees
all and process everything so quickly. But the thing I've
always loved about Burrow, and we saw it in this
game as well. And you know, obviously he doesn't get
a completion every time, but he's always had an aggressive mindset.

Speaker 2 (21:42):
Mike.

Speaker 3 (21:43):
He throws to the one on ones outside the numbers,
and yes he has Chase and obviously he did not
have Higgins in this game. And there's certainly no question
that that helps here, helps the play become more positive
than if you didn't have great receivers. But he is
an aggressive thrower of the football and I've always believed
that you have to be that in the NFL. And

(22:03):
the thing is is he's been able to channel that,
so he doesn't you know, he process this thing so
well that he doesn't really force the ball very much
at all. But he will throw vertically outside the numbers.
We saw that when he hit Chased for forty three
yards in this game. But you know, that's something that
I think really helps them.

Speaker 2 (22:22):
Yeah, we look at their schedule down the stretch. You
do have that game against Buffalo, as you mentioned Baltimore.
Then you got Cleveland, Arizona and Miami. Miami winners of
three of four. We'll talk about them a little bit
next hour. Just a little bit of a surge even
if the offense passing wise isn't explosive. A little bit
of a chin. Yeah, and they seem to be playing
with a little bit of resolve for their coach right now.

(22:45):
But we look at you know, Cleveland, we know their defense.
Arizona's defense has been strong in spots and Jacoby Brissett
one of the kind of more curious second half fins
here as we see him in relief. So he'll he'll
play a little bit later on as they've got a
big game against Tampa, a team kind of reeling and

(23:06):
trying to find its legs right now. But for the
other side of this match, if you look at the
Baltimore Ravens, you score fourteen points against what was the
league's worst defense. Yeah, coming into the game, and once
again Lamar Jackson six carries twenty seven yards, can't really
get to the edge. We watched that a week ago
against the Jets. See more of it here, seventeen of

(23:28):
thirty two to forty six for the third straight week.
No touchdown. Now, Isaiah likely fumbled at the one, So
let's all. You know, you know, put up great change.

Speaker 3 (23:38):
The game, still change the game, yep. But I would
say this, I thought Jackson was just off with his
ballplacement of times in this game, missing throws that again
not scattershot where you go, oh my god, but just
not as precise as he normally is. He's normally a
very accurate throw to the football, and I thought he
missed some throws that were there that you know, just

(23:59):
just was not as precise as he normally is. And
I think we've noticed that a bit since he's come back.
We've also noticed that he's not been quite as explosive
as a runner. So just the two meaningful parts of
his game are just not quite at the level that
we've seen throughout the years. Is that going to come
back as he plays more and ideally gets healthier. We

(24:21):
can't answer that question, but it certainly has not been
at the same level. And I know Derrick Henry had
that touchdown run, but I'm not sure he's quite the same,
which you know, at some point father time does catch
up to everybody.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
Ten gary, sixty yards and a touchdown. The fact that
you only have ten carries, that's the thing. Yeah, it
stands out to me. And we've watched teams be judicious
with their runners throughout the year, right, a little mix
and match, trying to make sure, especially if you're a contender,
that you've got some legs under you for the stretch run.
But for the Ravens, for Derrick Henry, we haven't seen

(24:58):
a ton of like the fact that it was twenty
eight yard touchdown run. Man, that you hang that one
in the museum, because we don't see many of those anymore.
Seven No. Seven play, sixty nine yard drive. It looked easy.
Seven to three lead, all right, all right, the Ravens
offense for at least a series taking care of business against,
as we said, a team that week to week without Hendrickson,

(25:20):
without much of a push on the defensive side. It's like, okay,
this normalizes at least for the moment, and really the
rest of the game was just such a slog for them.
In Burrow's return.

Speaker 3 (25:33):
Yeah, it was. It'll be interesting with Joe Burrow because
he's really really good, and you know, you just start
to fantasize, Gee, what happens if they went out, which again,
who knows. I bet their defense going forward there, as
you said, they're missing people. They're playing the rookie linebackers
with Barrett Carter and Demetrius Knight, and they're actually playing
pretty well. The secondary has been kind of a struggle

(25:54):
all throughout the season, so you never know what their
defense will be on a week to week basis. But Burrow,
as they say, gives them a puncher's chance every week.

Speaker 2 (26:03):
That's just it and one of the fun guys to watch,
and certainly fantasy owners that were wishing, wanting, hoping that
he'd be available for the stretch run if you're still
alive in your guillotine leagues, fighting for a playoff spot
or potentially playing spoiler. Welcome back Joe Cool, who said
everything that you could want as well, Right, how much
you've playing football, how much you know it's a kid's game,

(26:24):
and I'm blessed to do like everything you want to
put on that holiday card to talk about the greatness
of the game and love of the game. He put
it on display.

Speaker 3 (26:34):
You No, let me tell you something, Mike. I've done
this a long time, as most people listening probably know,
and for years and years and years, I did a
ton of interviews with players. I mean, I can't count
the number of inviews I've done with present players and
past players. It's probably well over a thousand in my career.
And Burrow stated that articulated beautifully. But I would say

(26:57):
ninety nine point nine percent of the players that I've
talked to over the years feel exactly the same way.
They just don't need to articulate it, because you know,
this is what they do. They play football, you know,
and none of us know what goes on behind the
scenes because we're not there. But you know these guys,
even the guys that I've talked to that maybe you know,
struggle to get to bed in the morning when they're
fifty and you know, those guys say they wouldn't have

(27:19):
traded it for anything. So what Burrow said he articulated beautifully.
But I think that's the way pretty much every player feels.

Speaker 2 (27:26):
There you go. Eventually we'll get you out of the
film room and we'll break down those thousand interviews and
stiff naha creating the book series from Greg Gosell.

Speaker 3 (27:35):
Hey, there was a time, just you know, there was
a time and this was a long time ago. Because
now the work we do with films is so amazing
and we do so much, But there was a time
when I was the only one in the company that
had interviewed both Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.

Speaker 2 (27:50):
How about that, see, and that was a long time ago.
Now Peyton will tell you anything you eat you while
Eli makes fun of him.

Speaker 3 (27:57):
Well, I would tell you the Peyton Manning story, but
it would take too long. But maybe another time.

Speaker 2 (28:00):
Oh well, we've got plenty of weeks and as you
get to the playoffs, fewer games story time. With Greg Kosel,
there you go there, you go to it. Yeah, it'll
be like a Saturday morning cartoon show. Get your cheerios.
And that's right, that's right on thirty nine minutes of
possession time. Also for the Bengals in that game, just
to wait that. Yeah, that was fit.

Speaker 3 (28:23):
Yeah, that's a great point too. I mean, and they
and Burrow was phenomenal on third down. He was ten
for fifteen and seven of the ten completions resulted in
first downs. That's the critical stat The issue that they'll
want to deal with is they were only one for
six in the red zone in terms of TD efficiency.
I guarantee they're working on that, you know, all this

(28:43):
coming week as they prepare for their next game, because
you know, I'm not saying anything profound here, but when
you get down there, you want to score touchdowns.

Speaker 2 (28:51):
Yeah, I think that the thing just to pump put
the finishing bow on the Burrow thing. In terms of
articulating the return to football was just the cacophony of
voices talking about operations shutdown. Yeah right, well you should
he play, should he not play? Whatever? So you know,
the statement helped you. And by the way, just you know,

(29:13):
hammered down a nail in that call.

Speaker 3 (29:15):
There's a player on the other side of the ball
in this game, on the Ravens defense that I guarantee
he's never had to articulate it. But I guarantee he
would feel exactly the same way, and he won't it
into the Hall of Fame. But I bet everybody who
plays the game has unbelievable respect for him. And that's
Kyle van Neyt.

Speaker 2 (29:31):
Absolutely Yeah, long decorated career, certainly battling here these final
couple of weeks. Curious to see how the division plays out,
Ravens with one of the hardest schedules remaining in the
National Football League. All right, let's go to another one
of those beautiful Thanksgiving Day games into an extra treat
Third and ten and Prescott back to throw another good

(29:53):
block from Thomas going to the end zone?

Speaker 5 (29:55):
Why up backing in Bake to catch tumbles over touched.

Speaker 2 (30:00):
CD Lamb thirty one, twenty eight year final Cowboys. Prescott,
Lamb and Pickens combined for thirteen catches over two one
hundred yards, with a touchdown to Lamb their fifty one yards.
He said he needed to make good for the drops
the week before. All the noise circling around and certainly
George Pickens as folks start to clamor for what's his

(30:23):
contract look like? But Dak Prescott deep ball throwing, getting
it done once again in a huge spot against the
Chiefs who fall to six and six.

Speaker 3 (30:32):
Yeah, I think that was the part of the game
that really stood out was the Cowboys offense and certainly
their pass game. I mean they gained four hundred and
fifty seven yards of total offense. Prescott had thirty nine dropbacks.
He was not sacked. That's a surprise when you play
the Chiefs. They were nine for sixteen on third down.
Prescott was ridiculously good on third down, make eleven for

(30:54):
fifteen for one forty six two touchdowns. Now, we had
that early interception where they blame and they got him
and it was beautifully done. But after that he was
dominant against the blitz and you know, I said he
completed eleven for fifteen on third down. As I mentioned
a moment ago. The key point there is think about this,
Nine of the eleven completions on third down resulted in

(31:16):
first downs. That's really the key static. You know, a
lot of guys can complete balls on third down if
it's third nine. They throw a four yard pass. It's
a completion, but it doesn't get a first down and
you punt. But you know that was the thing. And
then Pickens, he's just such a hardcover on those slant routes.
His quickness, his size, his length. I mean, he just
beat Watson. Because what was interesting in the game is,

(31:38):
for the most part, and again not every play, but
for the most part, the Steve Spagnolo decided to put
McDuffie on Lamb and Watson, who's bigger than McDuffie on Pickens,
because Pickens is about six three in a quarter, but
he's so good off the line of scrimmage on those
slant routes, and that turned out to be a major
factor in the game.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
Big boy is six different with a catch of at
least eleven yards. Ferguson goes five for thirty six. He
did have the touchdown wiped out. I know fantasy owners
were salty about that one. You know, all of those
would it could have should as along the way. So
for the Cowboys, suddenly six' five and. One, Yeah harry
taking some victory. Laps the fact that he went to

(32:19):
the media with a turkey leg in his hand might
have been my favorite. MOMENT i, MEAN i, look other
guys are doing things with TURKEYS i can't even talk
about on A sunday. Morning but you, know you Got
Jerry jones answering questions and shaking a turkey leg like
it's a scepter as he's in his post game victory.

Speaker 3 (32:39):
Lap hey and and any team With Hunter lepk at,
fullback you gotta like.

Speaker 2 (32:44):
That, well anytime we get to talk about full, backs you.

Speaker 3 (32:46):
Know but they're they're an interesting team because their. Defense you,
know it was The Savann revel played his first. GAME
i think he's now played three. Games and after he
played the first, GAME i sort of said to, MYSELF
i probably said on some other shows that this kid's
gonna play more and. More so the second game he,
played he played a lot, more and then this past

(33:07):
week he literally played almost every snap he's gonna. Play
he's a much better corner than what they.

Speaker 4 (33:12):
Have.

Speaker 3 (33:12):
Uh their their front seven is getting better and better
obviously getting you know with that that three man d
tackle rotation is now really really good With, williams With,
clark with O'deighie. Zua the linebackers now have more. Speed you,
Know i'm not sitting here suggesting they're going to be
a top five defense in the, league but it's clearly
an improved defense than what it was through the first

(33:33):
half of the.

Speaker 2 (33:34):
Season definitely a different look And eber plus making the
most of the. Changes you, know whenever you take out,
uh you, know we we've got the the, ace, RIGHT
i go back to the soccer Ted lasso. Thing we
got two. Aces well that you traded your ace a
week before the. Season, hey go figure out how to
make this. Work and eventually they made other moves to

(33:56):
where they're on a three game win. Streak we'll take
a look at the other side of the match of
The Kansas City, chiefs because we gotta throw some superlatives the.
Way I'm Patrick. Mahomes but the next opponent for The
cowboys they played On thanksgiving, too The Detroit. Live, yeah
a big matchup Against Green. Bay we'll get to all
of that as we continue. Here It's Fox Football sunday

(34:39):
as we, continue It's Fox Football. Sunday He's greg Go
sell At greg Go sell where you find. Him find
me over At Swollen. Dome I'm Mike. Harmon this Is
Fox Sports. Radio welcome back into The Fox Sports radio,
Studios Fox Football. Sunday watching a replay Of Cowboys chiefs
as we, speak a little action on the pitch already
in The Premier league and the eighty seventh, minute man

(35:01):
you Over Crystal palace to One for those keeping a
broad you, know the action across the. Pond maybe you
got up early to watch that and listen to. Us
we welcome you back. In mike har mcgreg cosel with
you as we. Go greg thirty one to twenty eight
was that final of The Cowboys? Chiefs? Yeah But Patrick
mahomes twenty three of thirty four two sixty one four,

(35:23):
TOUCHDOWNS a couple of the big scramble plays and throws
downfield or She rice had eight for ninety two and
two a couple of big plays To Xavier worthy as.
Well Travis kelcey found the end. Zone so they they
ate a little, bit just not enough to take down The.
Cowboys but For, mahomes it's been a fantastic year overall for.

Speaker 3 (35:45):
Him, yeah he played well in this. Game you know
he is And i've talked about this over the. Years
he is one of the most intriguing. Quarterbacks And i've
been you, know evaluating quarterbacks for a long time and
had the opportunity in my career to really learned from
a lot of coaches who really know the position AND
i study it in. Detail he is so interesting because

(36:07):
you probably wouldn't teach anyone to play the position like he.
Does he's truly the kind of quarterback where you kind
of say he just makes plays and he seems to
do it all the. Time Now i'm not suggesting he
can't play from the, pocket SO i don't want people
to think, that but there's such a plane making dimension
to his, game WHICH i think if you you, know

(36:28):
on a, scale on a, spectrum that's probably a little
more than he is a refined pocket, technician but he
just seems to make plays and he does it seemingly every.
Week and we saw that in this game for. Sure
and you know the thing is when you're watching The chiefs,
play no matter what the, score you never feel like

(36:50):
they're out of a. Game With mahomes six and.

Speaker 2 (36:53):
Six now with the five games, remaining we're looking at The, Broncos,
chargers And. Texans on the plus side of, things still
games against The titans And raiders to close out the.

Speaker 3 (37:05):
Year, yeah a couple of, three three tough, ones we'll.
See you, know it would appear that they would need
to win. Out you never, know there's still a lot
of football to. Go you. Know one of the things
that's been interesting is he's now in his second. Season
But Xavier, worthy you, know despite his his forty time
at The, combine AND i was there AND i remember
seeing it and how excited everybody, got and we knew
he was, fast you, know we didn't we didn't need

(37:27):
the forty. Time we didn't need the forty time to
know he was. Fast but he really hasn't been a
big vertical dimension in their offense since he's been. There
AND i keep waiting for, That, mike because you know
that's the. Thing he's, fast and you, know and he
hasn't really been used and deployed in that, way and you,
Know i'm just curious to. See you, know, again we're

(37:48):
not in their, meetings we don't know what they, do
but it just he just hasn't really been deployed that
way since he's been.

Speaker 2 (37:54):
There, yeah curiosity as we watch him go four out
of six sixty one yards the forty two yard pop,
there just thirty five catches on the, year in and
out of the lineup as he's, been but still waiting
for that big, explosive just one, touchdown averaging eleven to
five per catch on the season thus. Far, greg all,
right let's go to the last holiday holiday holiday tilt

(38:18):
on The Green bay side.

Speaker 1 (38:20):
On second and, ten back to their love hast time
Initially green who deep down the right side.

Speaker 2 (38:26):
And he's Got.

Speaker 3 (38:29):
Green Bay.

Speaker 5 (38:30):
Packers Christian watson close the top off The lions, defense
beating me robertson.

Speaker 2 (38:38):
Big throw down the right, sideline the great voice Of Wayne,
larvie the, ANALYST WHOA i love. That sixteen to thirty
four touchdowns in this, one including that big throw To Christian,
watson who adds that. Element they're Getting Jaden reid, back
so suddenly getting back towards full strength as we get
towards the stretcher On. Greg, yeah AND i.

Speaker 3 (38:58):
Don't think people have probably appreciate enough What Jordan love has.
Done he's sort, of you, know it's only his third
year as a, Starter, mike AND i think there's probably
a sense that he's played for a long time because
his first three years in the league he obviously was
not the, Starter AND i think he's just becoming a
fairly efficient. Player he doesn't turn it. Over you, know
early on in his, CAREER i think people viewed him
as a little bit of a turnover. Machine and certainly

(39:21):
his first year as a, starter through the first seven eight,
weeks as he was kind of getting his feed wet
and the game was a little fast for, him he
had that sense that he's not seeing it the right.
Way but you, know he's now kind of a pretty, controlled,
efficient calculated player who still has the kind of traits
and throwing ability to make those throws like we just

(39:42):
heard With watson that deep ball where he dropped it
right in the bucket.

Speaker 2 (39:45):
Completion percentage is at a career best sixty seven percent right.
Now seven point seven yards per, attempt nineteen, touchdowns just
three giveas that's the.

Speaker 3 (39:55):
Thing, yeah he does not turn it over very much at.

Speaker 2 (39:58):
All, yeah we've seen and just seventeen sacks allowed from
This packers offensive line last year fourteen and fifteen games
For love Gets rid of The ball is quarterback rating
up over one hundred on the. Season as we continue,
Here It's Fox Football, Sunday Fox Sports radio from The
Fox Sports radio studios At Greg, gosell where you Find

(40:20):
GREG nfl, films The Matchup show everything he. Does find

greatest the Lane kiffin saga, CONTINUES i did a mini
rant over on TikTok one minute at harmon rants to.
Suffice if you leave a, job you're. Gone you don't

(41:05):

i'm leaving for a new radio, job they will throw
me out of the, studio deactivate my key, card and
someone will depose me in a matter of thirty. Seconds
it might be the Aforementioned Isaac. LOHANCARD i don't. Know
crazy things happen around. Here isaac's already ready to take.
Over he threw his headphones on as fast as he.

(41:28):
Could greg kosel.

Speaker 6 (41:29):
That plan's already in place in riding somewhere in a file.

Speaker 2 (41:31):
Cabinet, okay there you. GO i knew it was, there so.

Speaker 3 (41:35):
There I'm i'm just surprised to Hear mike that you
actually went on a. Rant you never do, that do, You.

Speaker 2 (41:39):
No not at, all especially if the you, know the
coffee's not not.

Speaker 3 (41:44):
FLOWING i think you probably need another. Cup you're calming
down a little too, much you.

Speaker 2 (41:48):
KNOW i did just grab another one during the commercial,
Break so While isaac was, TALKING i took the first
glorious sip of the latest round from our beautiful little
curing machine in the.

Speaker 3 (42:00):
Back good for, You good for. YOU i think you needed.

Speaker 2 (42:03):
It, well you, know you gotta gotta keep the hype
machine going as we get ready for another glorious run
OF nfl games here a little bit later on, today
but we got we got a little more, business uh
left back On Thanksgiving. Day when we talk about That
packers And lions, GAME i think of, WELL. Michaeh parsons
might as well have been the king of the jungle.

(42:24):
Himself the king of the mammals is my Buddy LeVar
arrington here on the network calls. Himself he maybe have
passed that down To Michael parsons for this one because
he was full on apex predator going After Jared goff
in this game in a Huge Green bay.

Speaker 3 (42:41):
Win, WELL i think the main deal to me AS
i AS i watched that, GAME i think they do
such a good job defending the run mike that The packers,
do and and you know obviously that sets up longer yard. Situations,
Clearly Jamior gibbs has sort of become the found, back
the feature back for The. Lions YET i think twenty

(43:03):
carries in this. Game but he never really broke one
in this. Game and THAT'S i don't want to say
it's foundational to their. Offense you can't necessarily go into
a game, saying, Oh gibbs is going to, run you,
know for a sixty yard touchdown every. Week but they
kept him under. Control he never you, know it was
the kind of game where when he had a nine
yard run that seemed like a big run in the
context of that. Game and you, know they do such

(43:26):
a good job up. FRONT i really like What Jeff
hafley does too in his past. Defense he's so good
at changing the picture pre snap to post, snap which
works against any quarterback to some, degree even veteran quarterbacks
Like Jared. Goff and he's just a master at. That
and he's done. THAT i noticed that right From game

(43:46):
one this. Year and you, know they are a defense
that not a lot of people other than the fact
that they Have Michael, parsons it's not a defense talked
about a whole.

Speaker 2 (43:54):
Lot BUT i.

Speaker 3 (43:55):
Think they have two really good. Safeties xavier McKinney people,
know But Evan, williams WHO i think was a fourth
round pick out Of. Oregon he's a really good player as.

Speaker 2 (44:04):
Well, yeah as you look at that, game you had
a an eighteen yard run From gibbs at the twelve
to twenty eight mark of the second. Quarter greg for
the rest of the, game nineteen carries for fifty.

Speaker 3 (44:15):
Yards, yeah SO i mean other than that eighteen, yard
which obviously, counts but still there was no sense you,
know he didn't break anything really long that changed the
feel of the.

Speaker 2 (44:24):
Game biggest run of the game twenty four yards From Jared.
Goff that's.

Speaker 3 (44:29):
RIGHT i remember that play absolutely.

Speaker 2 (44:31):
Things you never thought you'd see because his run for
rushing yards is usually like one and a.

Speaker 3 (44:37):
Half and you know, what the defense will live with.
That you, know they're not gonna, go oh my, god
we're gonna we better worry about.

Speaker 2 (44:43):
That you just live with that because he hain't. Run
he is not out running yet to that no Where
Jamiir gibbs gets second, level he's.

Speaker 3 (44:50):
Gone but and, yeah and of course they lost On
Monrest Saint brown in the first, half and that's a
big deal because he's really a good, player and certainly
in the context of that off and he's a tremendous,
player so you, know you never know how that Changes you,
know it's always easy to, say, oh it changes. Things
it probably, does but we don't know specifically How Dan
campbell changes what he. Calls you just don't know.

Speaker 2 (45:12):
That, yeah we saw some explosives From Jamison. Williams we've
been waiting on that all season. Long so maybe On
cork a little of that. In we'll see how Long
Saint brown is. Out you look at their remaining strength of,
schedule still games against The Brian flores, defense even if
the offense will get.

Speaker 3 (45:30):
Into The Cowboys thursday, night So Saint brown doesn't get
the extra few. Days you, know they said it's a low,
ankle not a high, ankle which again we don't. Know
but if that's the, case he may have a chance
to play On thursday.

Speaker 2 (45:42):
Night, yeah that's. It let's get him in The hyperbaris.
Chambers we get at our best while we're sitting here
breaking it Down thursday. Night Jason smith AND i live
here seven to Eleven pacific every weeknight Here Fox Sports
Radio Rams bears And, steelers the other games remaining for
The Detroit. Lions where we look at strength of the
schedule remaining for the, tankathon good, Folks packers have the

(46:04):
toughest schedule. Remaining Vikings ravens are the quote easy, ones
and then you Have denver and two against The, Bears
indianapolis all their games against plus opponents to, remain and
Then detroit is.

Speaker 3 (46:17):
Third, yeah we're getting to be that time where we
look at the. Schedule but you, know you AND i
both know from doing this for years that strange things
happen down the. Stretch you, know it doesn't always go by. Chalk,
now you know things things are a little crazy down the, stretch.

Speaker 2 (46:31):
And that's the beauty of it and why we continue
To we've always called it the best reality show that you,
possibly oh you can get especially you know the old
rule of. Thumb even if it's not a game that
might be on your radar as an a, lister if
it's close and, late you're finding a television.

Speaker 3 (46:46):
TANK i, mean you know, what you don't watch all
those reality, Shows, mike like you, know like The Golden,
bachelor that's not you, know a big big on your
on your.

Speaker 2 (46:53):
Plate i'll tell you what IF i could figure out
a way to monetize. It, yeah we talk about here
a lot like IF i was Because i'm on air
from seven to Eleven pacific, times so by TIME i
actually would get to watch, it all the post show
blogs and, recaps they've already had their first. Craft that's,
right that's, Right so by TIME i would get at,

(47:14):
it i'd really need to bring up, well USUALLY i
have a lot of coffee coursing through my veins at eleven.
O'clock why, not let's figure that. Up there you, go
you want to join me for that never view of
The Golden.

Speaker 3 (47:26):
BATCHELOR i was never a reality show, guy SO i
can't speak to any of this. Stuff you, know to,
me sports is the best reality.

Speaker 2 (47:32):
Show yeah we. Did early, On The Amazing race And
survival were things THAT i watched a lot friends and.
Family but once you got to like season ten of
those and we're visiting the same, place, like, YEAH i
remember that merchant from last. Time you must have been, Right,
Yeah i'm.

Speaker 3 (47:49):
OUT i don't Think i've ever Seen survivor Or The Amazing,
race So i'm, probably you, know one of the, few
But i've never seen either one of those.

Speaker 2 (47:56):
Shows AND i love to, cook SO i love the food.
ONES i was gotten little, insights AND i MEAN i
made a Full thanksgiving, dinner the whole nine. Yards, wow
going in and Watching Micah parsons Terrorize Jared.

Speaker 3 (48:10):
Goff good for, you that's.

Speaker 2 (48:12):
AWESOME i had. Value, well my grandmother once once, said,
uh and if my brothers are, listening they're gonna. Laugh
it's like cooking is a great hobby for a man to.
Have take from that what you.

Speaker 3 (48:24):
Will i'm usually not allowed in the, kitchen so you
know that's that's the way it.

Speaker 2 (48:28):
Goes, well my mom wouldn't let us operate heavy, machine
so it goes both. Ways you, know she needed the lawn.
Pristine but then if we took a football out and
absolutely tore at each other and the lawn up, somehow
that was. OKAY i never quite understood. THAT i didn't
edge it. Properly so you can't go out and use
the machines to do. That but then you can go
and absolutely decimate it by running around like a couple of.

in the red. Zone now eleven of twenty two oh.
NINE i would normally play the. TOUCHDOWN i thought this
was a bigger play for him in terms of his
development than the swing.

Speaker 3 (49:54):
Pass if you And, samson, YEAH i, mean, look this
play was a tremendous. PLAY i, MEAN i think we
have to understand that he was forced out of out
of the pocket to us, right and The raiders went zero,
coverage so they went all out pressure and they played
man across the board on the back, end and he
was forced out of the pocket to his right and
he threw a To bond who ran the deep sail.

(50:16):
Route that ball traveled about sixty yards in the, air
and that was a, great great. Throw for the most,
part they didn't ask him to do very much at.
ALL i mean even The samson touchdown that was a swing.
Screen so, YEAH i, mean so the game played out
where they didn't have to ask him to do very.

Speaker 2 (50:33):
Much, judkins he can. Play, Yeah, no he's very.

Speaker 3 (50:37):
Good and that's kind of the WAY i would imagine
from WHAT i. UNDERSTAND i don't didn't look at the weather,
report BUT i understand whether it might be a factor
In cleveland today when they played The. Niners so we'll
see what that means for the passing game for both.
Teams but you, know he threw the interception last, week
AND i understood what he. Saw you. Know it's. Funny
i've always Believed, mike And i'm Sure i've mentioned this
before that interceptions and sack you have to look at

(51:00):
each one as an individual. Play you can't just look
on a stat sheet and, go, oh he threw a.
Pick you, know you don't know what it is until
you see. It AND i understood why he threw, it
which doesn't excuse the. Throw i'm not saying that makes it,
okay But i'm not going to break it down because
people can't see. It BUT i understood WHEN i looked
at the play a number of times why he made the.

Speaker 2 (51:22):
Throw, yeah and we've talked about it a, lot, right
the tip, balls the the receiver not getting their hands up,
fast and, like there's a million things that.

Speaker 3 (51:31):
There's, yeah there's so, Many, yeah there's, yeah there's so many,
reasons and and you know that's, Why LIKE i, Said
i'm not a believer in looking at a stat sheet
and seeing what the.

Speaker 2 (51:40):
Number but, overall, look.

Speaker 3 (51:42):
They didn't they didn't really do much with, him and
they didn't have, to so you, know you didn't, REALLY
i will say, this you did not get any meaningful
feel in his first start How sanders would play from
the pocket in a drop back pass game where he
had to read coverage and work Through. Russians that really
wasn't part of this particular. Game so now we have another,

(52:05):
week and every week is it's a learning process for
a young. Quarterback there's no definitive judgments to be made
when a guy plays one or two or three. Weeks
sometimes there's no definitive judgments to be made after a
guy plays a.

Speaker 2 (52:17):
Year you, know it takes, Time, Greg greg hot take.
Nonsense come, on it's, SPORTS i. Know come, On you're
supposed to be un hinged at the nine.

Speaker 3 (52:27):
Incompletion, Yeah i'm supposed to make both controversial, statements, right you?

Speaker 2 (52:30):
Know, yeah twenty miles an, hour a win out of
The southwest, today definite snow game, time temperature hitting in
the low.

Speaker 3 (52:38):
Thirties oh so it's supposed to snow during the.

Speaker 2 (52:40):
Game, yeah as we look at The, BROWNS i mean
we saw. IT i don't know if you saw any
of the shots From champagne Or banas The Western wildcats
and fighting a LINE i tried to get after. It it's,
like can you tell what's the twenty year or the? Fifty? No,
well no.

Speaker 3 (52:55):
Idea and so you know, what we could be talking
more about McCaffrey And judkins in this.

Speaker 2 (52:58):
Game, yeah we got we got. Snow we got elements
across the league that we'll talk about as we continue this,
hour looking ahead to these. Games let's go To San.
Francisco the other side coming in there a six point,
favorite forty and a half is your. Total so expecting
the wins and these defenses to have a big say
in what goes. Down but certainly Brock purty a lot

(53:20):
of chestiness and a lot of megaphones pulled out after
the three interception first half against The Carolina. Panthers, yeah
AND i understand.

Speaker 3 (53:28):
THAT i, mean he was late with a couple of.
Throws you know What purdy, is and the sample size
is large enough in the league that we can say
this pretty. Unequivocally he's an elite post snap. Processor that's
What purdy's game, is and being able to do that
allows him to throw with tremendous anticipation because the two go,
together and that's to find his game in THE, nfl

(53:51):
because we all know he doesn't have a big. Arm
so in the two games that he's been, BACK i,
mean certainly in the game Against carolina the other, night
he just didn't show that the way he's shown it
through basically all of his, career that sort of elite
post snap operation where he sees it right away then
gets the ball. OUT i don't think it's cause for

(54:12):
concern because we have a large enough body of work
mic that we know he can do. This you, know
it's not as if he's only done one. Time this
is who he's been in HIS nfl, career and he's
had success doing. It now, today if the weather is
snow and thirty degrees and twenty mile an hour, wins
this is not going to be a barometer by which
to make any meaningful judgment About Brock.

Speaker 2 (54:34):
Purdy gonna be an awful lot Of christian McCaffrey And
Brian robinson would be my. Guess, yeah swing passes were
already have McCaffrey at eighty one catches on the, year
if he doesn't end here remarkable at. Ninety but he's
at two hundred and ninety eight touches. Already it's.

Speaker 3 (54:50):
CRAZY i, mean he's going to get a thousand and a,
thousand which will be the second, time the only player
in history to do. That and he's you, know obviously
there a line has up and down this, year but you,
know over the last number of weeks it seems like
things are coming together a little bit. More they've been
rotating at the left guard, position so you, know you
never want to have to do, that but you, know,

(55:11):
hey they obviously feel that's the best way to Go
we'll see if they continue to do. That but he,
McCaffrey he's just a. Guy you know what we talked
about What Joe burrow said watching, McCaffrey you almost feel
like he plays like. That he's just all football.

Speaker 2 (55:25):
Player that's. It every down he's fun to watch as
there is, yep going back to entering the, league what
was it twenty. Seventeen when he's on the, field he's
electried both. Sides last, week got that victory over his old.
Squad The panthers now an opportunity here Against. Cleveland be
remiss if we didn't at least acknowledge the greatness that
Is Miles garrett in the. Season oh my, god Brock

(55:48):
perty will have to navigate that and some of the
swing passes can't wait to see what kind of arc
he's got going As. Garrett, YEAH i think they to close.

Speaker 3 (55:55):
OUT i Think garrett's on track for one hundred, sacks
isn't hething about?

Speaker 5 (55:58):
It?

Speaker 2 (55:58):
Yeah, yeah but, YEAH i think you.

Speaker 3 (56:01):
Yeah it's it's it's the. Guys you. Know the crazy
thing to me about him is how big he, is you,
know because sometimes we you, know these these edge pass,
rushers we see guys that are more like The Micah parsons,
types you, know the guys that are two forty, five
two fifty with sort of, explosiveness and we, go oh my,
god look how. EXPLOSIVE i, mean you're dealing with a
guy In garrett that's you, know two seventy five to,

(56:22):
eighty and, man he is just so hard to.

Speaker 2 (56:25):
Block it's.

Speaker 3 (56:26):
CRAZY i, mean he in in a sport of tremendous,
athletes And i've been doing this a long time AND
i love, it as you, Know but he's just a.
FREAK i, mean there's no other way to describe the.

Speaker 2 (56:36):
Guy, yeah it's if some folks misconstrued SOMETHING i said
a week ago talking About MaTx crosby And Miles. Garrett
nobody's saying that they're asking, for you, know you, know
any any kind of sympathy or whatever for staying in
those respective. Squads it's the collective media. Going you'd like
them to be playing for meaningful stakes right right on

(56:58):
a weekly. Basis So i'll appreciate. HIM i don't care
what the decal is on the side of the. Helmet
great play is great. Play oh he's.

Speaker 3 (57:07):
UNBELIEVABLE i, MEAN i happen to Hear Joe thomas talk
about trying to block, him and you, know because he
point against him in practice for years and years and
it was really interesting to Hear joe talk about. It
but obviously he's a very difficult guy to.

Speaker 2 (57:21):
Block, yeah no question about. It that'll get you ready For,
sunday no question about. It At Great Coat sell where
you find, HIM nfl, films The Matchup, show and of

the end Of Friday Night lights name plate goes into
the trash next man. On you're all twenty, Two. Greg
that's the way it. Works that's the way it, works all.
Right Houston indianapolis one of the big games of the.

Speaker 3 (59:31):
DAY.

Speaker 2 (59:32):
Cj stroud ready to make his, Return Daniel jones playing
with a cracked bone in his leg minus four and
a half home favorites here forty four and a. Half
we've talked a lot about That houston. DEFENSE i have
no idea what to expect FROM. Cj, stroud But indianapolis
defense four to five a little. Bit but The Daniel

(59:53):
jones injury something that really curious to see how that's
gonna play out here in we.

Speaker 3 (59:58):
Thirteen, Yeah i'm very anxiously that. Place that's how it affects.
Him you know that it doesn't seem like a minor.
Thing but obviously he's going to, play so you, Know,
LOOK i learned a long time ago From Ryan jowarski
actually taught. Me that's WHEN i started working with him Back,
OH i don't know nineteen ninety that if you're, playing
the rest doesn't. Matter you, know no one walks into
a locker room after the game and, says, GUYS i

(01:00:20):
would have played, better but my leg. Hurt you, know
you can't do that in THE. Nfl it doesn't work.

Speaker 2 (01:00:24):
RIGHT i got tried explaining that to my daughter with
her soccer stuff the other.

Speaker 3 (01:00:27):
Day, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:00:28):
You, know in the, end whatever you put on tape
is on. Tape there's no caveat of giant, bruise, bone
bruise anchor braying. Whatever it's. Like people that watch it
will get, That but people that, don't they're going to
see a box score or they're going to get a
highlight where you look bad or a player looks, bad
and that's what all you're gonna get from.

Speaker 3 (01:00:47):
It that's. Right and so to, Me i'm going to
be fascinating to see what the balance is With Shane
stikeen on first, down in particular Because Daniel jones still
has the most first down passing yardage of any quarterback
in the. End but Yet i'm sure most people, think,
oh it's got to Be Jonathan. Taylor Jonathan, taylor and
don't forget last time against The chiefs last, Week, taylor

(01:01:08):
they really stopped him on first. Down so the question
what's the balance here against a really really good defense
that has outstanding players at all three. Levels and you
know the thing about throwing on first, down most coaches
will tell you that's the best down to throw on
because more often than, not the game is about probability and.

(01:01:28):
Tendency you tend to get a little more predictability in
the defensive fronts and the defensive coverages on first. DOWN
i will say this, though WHEN i watched That texans,
defense AND i know people are probably aware of him
because of what he did On thursday, night you, know
a few weeks. Ago but to, Me Kaitlin bullock this
season is the best post safety in The National Football.

(01:01:51):
League and that's what he. Is that's what he was
coming out OF. Usc he predominantly plays post, safety although
they've expanded his role a little, bit but he is
such a good pure post.

Speaker 2 (01:02:01):
Safety as we get ready for this, One greg very
interesting to watch The houston. Offense they got. By, Yeah Davis,
mills congratulations on a job. Done to steal from really well,
Done Willian, world really well. Done, Yeah, no he did the.
Job were they, Explosive, no but you played winning football.

Speaker 3 (01:02:20):
And he didn't turn it. Over he didn't turn it,
over and he made throws when he needed to make.

Speaker 2 (01:02:25):
Throws that's it for folks watching this. One obviously For,
indianapolis if we watched The Daniel jones, mobility certainly against
that defensive front going to be. Tested Riley leonard is
second on your depth chart for those keeping.

Speaker 3 (01:02:41):
Interesting you, know the other interesting thing to me in
this game is The colts offensive. TACKLES i don't think
they're great in one on one pass Pro that's what
the film tells.

Speaker 2 (01:02:50):
Me you.

Speaker 3 (01:02:51):
KNOW i hope people understand when they say these, things
it's all based on, film and it'll be very interesting
when they get into those pure past situations or third and,
long for, instance What Shane stiken decides to do from
a protection, Standpoint Because Will, ANDERSON i, mean he is
as good a speed to power pass rusher as there
is in the. League hunter is a little more, flexible

(01:03:12):
a little more gumby, ish but those guys are really
a low and they're good inside, Too that's the. Thing
it's not just the edge. Guys So i'm very curious
to see when he gets into these these you, know
pure past type, situations how he chooses to go about
with his protection.

Speaker 2 (01:03:29):
Plans there you. Go december, sixth there's a screening at
something called Vidiots here In Los, angeles you can watch
A gumby.

Speaker 3 (01:03:35):
Marathon only you would know, that only you would know.

Speaker 2 (01:03:39):
That, well it's a cool play. Subscription they still rent,
videotapes but they do a lot of screenings and little
meet and greets with, artists actors and directors coming in
to talk about. Stuff it's part owned by some some
some Famous hollywood, types so you get a little of.
That AND i saw an ad for The Gummy thing
because you, Know gumby And pokey really big part of

(01:04:00):
my background in my morning television getting, Ready AND.

Speaker 3 (01:04:03):
I know you hang out with a lot of the
Big hollywood.

Speaker 2 (01:04:05):
Types you know that's, me you, Know, yeah not That
i'm a hermit sitting in a. Studio that's, Right that's right,
deep and then going back and watching games a second,
time so y'all don't have To greg AND i to
handle that heavy lifting for. You one of the TEAMS
i want to talk, about just because the playoff in
THE Afc south got really interesting last. Week we'll talk

(01:04:27):
about that in a, second but first let's kick it
over To isaac Lowen kron At Isaac lowancrod where you
find them part of The chargers cover ch ANGEL. Cityfc
he's got all out there At Isaac Lohan kron but
he's got some news and notes for. Us what's our?

Speaker 6 (01:04:39):
Buddy good morning, Fellas and, yes we continue to, wait
but it looks like we're not gonna have to wait much,
longer we. Think no official resolution to The Lane kiffen
slash saga slash. Situation multiple outlets Support he is expected
to go to Lsu ole Miss as a team meeting
scheduled for the time of the.

Speaker 2 (01:05:00):
Hour Now mike And greg are.

Speaker 6 (01:05:01):
Outstanding Fox Sports Radio audio department has used the most
cutting edge technology available to put together a simulation of
what That Lane kevin team meeting might sound like at
the top of the.

Speaker 2 (01:05:15):
Hour let me just get something out of my. Car
simpsons did. It simpsons did.

Speaker 6 (01:05:29):
It kudos to. Her Fox Sports Radio audio. Department on
the field On saturday, Night number Ted alabama won An
auburn twenty seven to. Twenty so that'll Be alabama Against
georgia in THE Sec Championship.

Speaker 2 (01:05:41):
Game number.

Speaker 6 (01:05:42):
Eighteen virginia Beat Virginia tech twenty seven to seven to
clincher birth in THE acc title, game cal Upset number
twenty ONE smu thirty eight to thirty five that Sent
duke to THE Acc championship game Against. VIRGINIA Nfl media
reports To Pittsburgh steelers Quarterback Aaron rodgers is playing through
not just one fracture in his left, wrist but at

(01:06:03):
least three fractures in his left. Wrist AT Fl media
also Reporting Tampa Bay buccaneers Quarterback Baker mayfield is expected
to play today against The Arizona cardinals despite his left shoulder.
Injury mike And, GREG i left something in my.

Speaker 2 (01:06:18):
Car i'll be right. Back, Thanks halo At isaac loeh
and con where you find. Him leaving no stone unturned
on this. THING i remind, folks if you have the
opportunity to go to an historically great money spending juggernaut
of a, school apply this to whatever job you have

(01:06:40):
and you can make more money there and the path
towards winning might be a little. Easier you're probably walking
across the street to do that job as. Well so
you want to blame the cycle of how this coaching
stuff has to come, together put it on a referendum
And i'll sign my name to. It but until that day,

(01:07:01):
Comes Lane kiffin's this is not the ideal scenario for a.
Guy you're winning and jobs that normally don't come open
are subtly out there in the, offing and based on
the timetable that has to be, navigated you're made to
be the bad. Guy it's a tough, proposition BUT i.

Speaker 3 (01:07:22):
Think you know, what he'll probably end up. Okay though
wherever he, GOES i think it'll be. OKAY i don't
know we have to worry about Link.

Speaker 2 (01:07:27):
Kiffin, no it's it's really just been the meltdowns that
people are. Having, yeah some of the. DISINGENUOUS i, mean
you might as well just hire a couple of violin
players behind. You the schools should allow him to play.
Coach it out was, like, no if he, leaves he, leaves.

Speaker 3 (01:07:42):
That's not gonna.

Speaker 2 (01:07:43):
Happen, hey, guys, sorry just to chime in here real. Quick.

Speaker 6 (01:07:46):
YEAH espn just reported that the team meeting has been
moved until a later time in the. Day done.

Speaker 2 (01:07:55):
Breakfast burritos weren't Ready apparently not they didn't get the
the omelet station, together or we're still going back and
forth on. TERMS i love the report from last. Night.
Greg the last note on this before we get back
to THE nfl was the you, know, well he wants to,
play you, know coach, there and he's offering as long

(01:08:19):
as he won't poach coaches or. Players you, know after
this month would be, over like really BECAUSE lsu Or
florida or the, again the man in The, moon whatever
job he would end up, taking they'd be okay with him,
saying you know, what we're not gonna go after the
best players or potential staff because you want to coach

(01:08:39):
for them instead of getting to work for. Us, yeah
this makes a lot of. Sense it's one of the
more asinine sequences in some of the standing and lunacy
of our media. Brethren just makes me slap my. Oversize i've, head.

Speaker 3 (01:08:55):
Is It tuesday in two days from now when we
find out about the football?

Speaker 2 (01:09:00):
Playoff that's it this?

Speaker 3 (01:09:01):
Week?

Speaker 2 (01:09:01):
Yeah, yeah, Yeah so we'll get our rankings and then
we'll have the big. REVEAL i want to know how
many slots he's. Worth, Remember Jordan travis was great to
get and get them eliminated from the. Playoffs so how
much will Blatant giffin be?

Speaker 3 (01:09:16):
Worth, yeah my guess is not as much As Jordan.

Speaker 2 (01:09:20):
Travis how about? That all of a, sudden you just
dropped to the to the land of no. Playoffs if
your coach, leaves it's potentially a really chaotic, situation And
i'm here for. It in between the white, Lines we'll
have all your Coverage isaac and the team here as we.

backs of this performance last.

Speaker 5 (01:10:07):
Week first and goal from the nine yard, LINE Yea
trail twenty one. Seventeen trevor under, CENTER etm the running
back Play Thank trevor steps, up fires for the back
of the end, zone diving a tap.

Speaker 3 (01:10:18):
The ball top for the.

Speaker 4 (01:10:20):
Touchdown porker was he did a nine yard.

Speaker 2 (01:10:23):
Touchdown Ben jacksonvillasree taking the l three touchdowns three picks
in that overtime win Over, arizona suddenly winners of three of,
four and The jaguars find themselves back in the. Mix
can we believe In Trevor lawrence down the stretch, run
greg from what you've seen on? Tape is it getting any?

Speaker 3 (01:10:41):
BETTER i would say it'd be difficult to truly. BELIEVE
i think he's a very uneven player in fact last,
week you. Know AND i don't know if this is
the way they want to, play Because Liam cohen's job
is to win football. Games they've got two really explosive
backs And tooton and atn they really don't. ASK i
think by, Choice Trevor lawrence to throw a lot relative

(01:11:05):
to OTHER nfl. Quarterbacks he still has Plays mike quite,
frankly and this is based purely on film where he
just doesn't see it the right. Way he throws some,
interceptions you, know and AGAIN i, say you got to see,
them AND i, do where you just wonder what he's
seeing AND i don't know the answer to. That he
would have to tell. Me so you, KNOW i don't
think that they really want to put the ball in

(01:11:27):
his hands unless the game dictates that that has to.

Speaker 2 (01:11:30):
Happen, yeah you talked ABOUT etn And touton absolutely obliterated
The chargers a couple of weeks. Ago we watched them
run all, over final score thirty five to, six and
that One lawrence only had to throw twenty two times
one hundred and fifty three. Yards chargers back on the
field after the bye week nine and a half point
favorites against The, raiders expecting them still don't Have, hampton

(01:11:53):
but it's more of The raiders, Side Chip, kelly just
are we just going to slough off pieces of the
coaching staff a bit? Bout or what.

Speaker 3 (01:12:01):
The stories you heard about?

Speaker 2 (01:12:03):
That?

Speaker 3 (01:12:03):
Again you, know you assume they're. True that's just what you.
Know journalists, do they investigate those. Things that's that's really.
TERRIBLE i, mean if what's been reported is, true it's really.

Speaker 2 (01:12:13):
Terrible, yeah it is certainly a meltdown of epic proportions
more more. Scuttle But i'm sure as the week, flows all,
right it's still a number of games on the board
to look. At ilo brought up the fact That Aaron,
rodgers now with that's a big, game three three risked
bone breaks, There buffalo four point, favorites but a team

(01:12:34):
that's sputtering a bit of laid, Here, Greg, yeah and.

Speaker 3 (01:12:39):
Decimated both starting tactics will not, play which changes the
way you have to play when you're FACING. Tj watt
at left defensive you know end and High smith on
the other, side a team that rushes the. Quarterback, WELL i,
know their defense from a numbers perspective has has been
not very good and the back end has been a definite.

(01:12:59):
Issue when you watch their tape when they Play Zone,
boy there's way too many. VOIDS i, mean it's something's
not right on their own coverage on the back. End
but now you get into the protection. Issue are they
going to rely On Josh allen to in a sense
defeat the pressure or do they have to start changing
their protection concepts having people stay, in maybe only sending,

(01:13:20):
out you, know four receivers as opposed to. Five when
it gets to be those pure pass, situations it really
gets into sort of a tactical element to How buffalo plays.
Here and you, know the bottom line, is AND i
think this has been true for, Years, MIKE i don't
Think buffalo is a high talent. Team you, know we
always look at them Because Josh allen can be so

(01:13:42):
special and in some, ways Like, mahomes he's more special
more often than. Not but it's very hard to live that.
Way and you, know we saw what happened Against houston
when they were just overmatched up front in that. Game
this is a very intriguing. Game it's a huge game
For buffalo.

Speaker 2 (01:13:59):
Twelve quarterback in that. One and you look At, pittsburgh
which is, curiosity. Right you run numbers and like all things,
not you're not equal in game to game and. Flow
but they're tenth in the, league averaging nearly twenty five
points per.

Speaker 3 (01:14:13):
Game which is odd because their offense is Not i'm being,
honest it's not a fun offense to. Watch, oh they
don't really work the middle of the field in the
passing game hardly at. All you, know they play a
lot with big, people two tight, ends three tight. Ends
washington is in some ways the tight, end who definitely
weighs over three hundred, pounds has become a sort of

(01:14:35):
a critical piece even as a receiver at that. Size
it's a very odd. Offense there's not a lot of big,
plays but yet it's pretty fascinating that that's what they
average per. Game and you, know we'll see what's the
weather supposed to be In.

Speaker 2 (01:14:50):
Pittsburgh let's pull up our weather report as we look
at the games of the. Day we got fifteen mile
an hour wins out of the southwest right, now just
showing most, cloudy but the wins will be in, effect
maybe knocking down a little bit of the.

Speaker 3 (01:15:04):
Deep, well, NO i Imagine Josh. ALLEN i think he can
probably cut his, wall probably cuts through the, wind, YEAH
i would.

Speaker 2 (01:15:10):
Imagine SO i wonder if he's got to put the cape,
on you, know coming into this, game just twenty three
more rushing yards Than Patrick. Mahomes, yeah take that for
what it.

Speaker 3 (01:15:18):
Is and it's hard to do that every, week as
you will, know to ask your quarterback to be. Superman
now they've run the ball, well but again now they're
missing their, tackle so we don't know what their offensive
line is going to look. Like and they were pretty
secretive about who's going to play the tackle. Position and
again they don't have to make a public, announcement so
that's it doesn't matter to. Me we'll find out when
the game. Starts but, yeah but they clearly held that

(01:15:42):
close to the.

Speaker 2 (01:15:42):
Vest, yeah and hopefully in a big, situation he can
cut down whomever they rely on to slide in that they're.
NOT i, Mean Deon dawkins has seven fallse star, penalties
including a huge one the last. Time we were right,
Right so hopefully they can clean up some of that resnap.
Stuff all, Right, yeah we take a quick. Break we've
got a couple more games we want to knock out

(01:16:04):
here in the lightning. Rounds seattle And minnesota a nice.
Reunion we'll do that one next At greg Co sell
where you Find greg find me over at Swollen. Own
this Is Fox Football, sunday jacked up final couple minutes

Carmen greg Co sell cought. Up in ten, minutes you
got countdown to kick, off presented by BET. Mgm sure

(01:16:28):
some thoughts On Lane kiffin full slate of college, football
the playoff rankings to, come and of course getting you
set for all the ins and, outs, props sides and
everything else of YOUR nfl. Slate so ten minutes from,
now be remiss if we didn't take a Over seattle
ten and a half point. Favorites maybe the game doesn't excite,

(01:16:50):
you but we've Got Sam darnold against his old squad
and a new quarterback on the other.

Speaker 5 (01:16:54):
Side second down in three at The tennessee thirteen, Again
ibacks play, fake this time To Walker.

Speaker 2 (01:16:59):
Sam throw got to be on the back of.

Speaker 5 (01:17:01):
The other's caught Touchdown Shay.

Speaker 2 (01:17:04):
Hawks what's?

Speaker 5 (01:17:05):
That three PLAYS jsn makes the catch in the back
of the End zoe from thirteen.

Speaker 2 (01:17:11):
Out, yeah THE Jsn show, continues averaging nearly thirty points per.
Game are The seahawks on the? Year going Against Brian.
Flores he knows a little bit About Sam, darnold But
Max brosburg getting the start. Here he's a biomedical science, guy.
Kinesiology he might be the Really fitzpatrick.

Speaker 3 (01:17:31):
Guy is that what he majored?

Speaker 2 (01:17:32):
In, yeah where we start talking about how smart he?

Speaker 3 (01:17:34):
Is, WELL i actually studied him coming out Of, minnesota
and you know it's. Funny they'll be COM i don't
know how he'll do, today BUT i would imagine they'll
be comparisons to someone Like Brock purdy because he's kind
of a pocket. Quarterback he would probably best be viewed
as having average arm strength BY nfl. Standards he would
have to you, know he's gonna have to play with

(01:17:56):
consistently high level timing in, rhythm precise ball, location and
be really good pre snap into post. Snap So i'm
curious to see him. PLAY I seattle's got a very good,
defense by the, way and it's not an easy defense
to play.

Speaker 2 (01:18:09):
Against, no that'll be a tough to, ask no. QUESTION
i watched a nice Vignette i'll post it up At
Swollen dome ON. X it was a nice little thing
tracking when he was At New hampshire And New. Hampshire,
yeah pretty good. Bit all, Right we've got a couple
more games left on the. Board we've Got Breeze New
orleans squad And shuck going up against the Resurgent miami.

(01:18:30):
Squad Arizona Tampa. BAY i think that's probably of the
remaining games we haven't touched.

Speaker 3 (01:18:35):
Yet games For Tampa. Bay, Yeah Tampa BAY'S i, mean,
obviously over the last month their offense has not been as.
Good baker has not been quite as, sharp they don't have.
People it'll be very interesting to see because they're still
a good, team but they've not played particularly. Well you,
know it's funny when you watch tape and you see
an offense and you can just see and maybe it's

(01:18:57):
just Because i've been doing this for so. Long when
an offense does not have a rhythm to it at,
all and The bucks offense just does not seem to
have a rhythm over this last. MONTH i don't. Know
i'm not a, Coach. MIKE i don't know how you
get that. Back but you can see when it's there
and you can see when it's not.

Speaker 2 (01:19:12):
There, yeah we had the big players From abuca early
in the. Season he's er than sixty receiving yards for
the last. Five Bucky irving is back in some capacity.
Today big be, big he could be Big godwin as.
Well so perhaps two things that will help them. Along
and we've Watched Jacobe brissett on the other. Side any

(01:19:32):
of these other games where there's a side or a
player that you want to spotlight in the final, minute
we've got.

Speaker 3 (01:19:38):
Here what are the other?

Speaker 2 (01:19:39):
Games, well we Got la In, Carolina, Denver.

Speaker 3 (01:19:42):
Washington, WELL i, MEAN i think what The rams do
is fascinating and What sean mcvagh. Does, look they Lost Tyler,
higbee so they played out of thirteen personnel so, much
and then the last game they only play six snaps
out of it because he's not. There they do have
three other tight, ends but just Watching stafford, play Watching
Devontae adams and his releases off the line of scrimmage versus.

(01:20:05):
Press is there anybody better in the league Than Devnte
adams doing?

Speaker 2 (01:20:09):
That i'm not. Sure, yeah he's been, ridiculous a touchdown
every four catches on the. YEAR i had great. Gosel
where you find him for all the latest find me
At Swollen. Dome enjoy countdown to kick offf presented by BET.
