Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Really good Week sixteen of the National Football League season,
and we are focusing our eyes, our ears, and our
attention on these four late games, including a showdown in
Denver where they're Jaguars and Broncos, two teams likely destined
for the playoffs going head to head, the Lions and Steelers.
Obviously a lot to play for Steelers right now in

(00:26):
Lions right now out, Falcons and Cardinals out, let's just
move on from that. And the Texans one of the
hottest teams in the National Football League entertaining the Raiders,
who I'll just put it nicely, not one of the
hottest teams in the National Football League. It's what we've
got in this late window. But Jacksonville Denver so far
ten and four against twelve and two, Carrie living up

(00:49):
to the expectations in the seven to seven ball game.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
Yeah, this game I'm very interested in. I mean, you know,
we've talked about it. You've been high on Denver from
the beginning, and I've always been kind of a little
cost as to jump on that man because of the
nature of how they do things. But I mean, you
can't deny where they are top seed in the AFC
and they're playing well. I mean, we know they got
a defense that can win it all, and the offense
is starting to pick up as well. So with the

(01:12):
Jacksonville Jaguars, and they're ascension right now. I mean, we've
seen some a little bit of a resurgence from Trebor
Lawrence right and he's starting to play like the guy
that a lot of people picked him to be. So
I'm excited about that one.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
The acquisition of Jacobe Myers was a really big one
for them at the trade deadline and solidified their offense
because honestly, Brian Thomas Jr. Was not the player that
he was a year ago. He was second in the
AFCED receiving yards last year and just hasn't hasn't been
the weapon that they would have hoped for. But so far,
the Jaguars and Broncos hanging with each other. Bijohn Robinson

(01:45):
has just kind a touchdown pass for the Falcons coming
out of the flat from Kirk Cousins, so Atlanta pulls
a little closer in that game against the Cardinals. Here's
the funny thing about Denver and Jacksonville is right now,
in twenty twenty five, like it's a weird game, but
this was a rivalry in the NFL about thirty years ago,

(02:08):
and in fact, in Jacksonville's second year, they end up
knocking off John Elway and the Broncos and taking the
Broncos out of the playoff picture that Mark Bunel, Yes
it was, Yes, it was. And so from about I
would say ninety six to like, you know, two thousand
and two thousand and two, like these teams were battling

(02:30):
for supremacy in the AFC and would play some pretty
big games, pretty big playoff games. Now that hasn't happened
in a while. Denver's playoff drought last year finally ended,
but it was almost a decade. Super Bowl fifty prior
to last year was the last time Denver was actually
in the postseason. And we know, yeah, yeah, so they
won the Super Bowl, then they didn't make it until
they ended up getting in last year. As that I

(02:52):
believe they were the seventh seed in the AFC went
in Jacksonville. We know their struggles. We've known they got
to an AFC championship game when they went to England
and maybe could have won that game had the big
win against the Chargers with Trevor Lawrence to that comeback victory.
But it's been few and far between for Jacksonville when
it's come to the playoff history.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
Had Jacksonville game, they should have won that in that
playoff game up in Foxboro, right, Yes, yeah, what was
the quarterback that was?

Speaker 2 (03:19):
I'm on it today with the name Dan. I'm excited
Carrie's weekend. I don't mean to completely go over the
David Garrard era, but there were some good seasons with
Jacksonville then as well, but it just you didn't have
Jacksonville and Denver more of a matchup than you would think.
Let's jump over to Detroit. Steelers up three to nothing
on this Lions team right now, Steelers playing without TJ.

(03:42):
Watt and Lions just trying to survive in the NFC
playoff picture. I for what, I'm surprised right now that
it's a Steelers lead, especially for a team like Pittsburgh
that came off of the short week that they had.
They played on Monday night against the Dolphins and right
now at least having an edge on the Lions. Slow
going for Detroit. They had a fourth and goal situation

(04:02):
where again they went for it and carry rolls his eyes.
Not a fan, but Pittsburgh right now with the lead
on the Lions.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
Yeah, you know, Dan Campbell is the gambler and we
know that and we've talked about it.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Dan, you got to take points early.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
You can gamble in certain spots, but in these games
when they really count and you need every point to
win these games, you got to take those points early.
And for Detroit that's becoming the buggaboo.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
We know, we love Dan.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
Campbell for it early winning, gambled and got some success,
but at this point you got to do what's best
for the team and you got to come out of
that analytic mindset and start calling the game as it needs.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
To be called tuld, we start calling him the Cambler.
That's a good The Cambler may have more success than
certain gamblers. But the fourth down that they were unable
to convert still allows them to have the goose egg up.
Looks like they got deep into Pittsburgh territory, but there
is some laundry on the field. On a pass play

(04:58):
to Aman Ross Saint Brown, it's going to be defensive penalty.
So the Lions moving the football and now we'll have
it first and ten at around the twenty three yard block.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
Man, who's the seventh seed right now in the NFC,
it would be the Packers right now. Packers dropped the
seven right after the lost nine and what's and what's
Detroit record?

Speaker 4 (05:19):
Eight?

Speaker 2 (05:19):
Eight and six, eight and six.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
They cannot afford to lose this one, not at home either.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
They got to win this game. No, and the other
the other thing that you look at with the Lions
is again, this is Pittsburgh coming in on a short week,
and this is what tells me that Detroit maybe isn't
just like, this isn't the same We know it's not
the same Detroit team, but it's not just a switch
that you can turn on and off. Last week, for

(05:46):
the first half they had the Rams and then the
Rams just kind of took it from there and took
off and ended up getting the win. It's a tough
game to play, but this is a game that Detroit
needs to win. And with Pittsburgh being shorthanded without TJ. Watt,
I know it's one player, but it's a very important
player for them to be struggling in sort of this game.

(06:09):
I think in years past, Detroit would have just put
it on them, been up twenty one to nothing. Yeah,
and you know all gas, no breaks, and that's not
necessarily the case here. Yeah, no it's not.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
And we know you said this isn't the same team,
and injuries have kind of run its course with them,
just like a lot of teams.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
But again, Detroit has been in a lot of games
this year. They could have won as well.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
And so when you start losing o's and then you
started making the mistakes, and then the gambling doesn't pay
off and all the things started to add up, it
looks like very clearly that is not the same thing.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
Do you think that there's an AFC counterpart to the
Lions to the Lions?

Speaker 4 (06:41):
Can I tell you.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
I'll give you my reason, because I think over the
past couple of years and this year I put the
Lions in the Super Bowl. Last year I had the
Bills and Lions. Yeah, I thought that both of those
teams were They weren't parallels of each other, but they
were parallels in the path of people wanting the Bills
to get to the Super Bowl, people wanting the Lions
to get to the Super Bowl. Yes, very high powered offense.

(07:01):
Is that if you could get hot lookout. If your
defense forces some turnovers, then you're you're really in trouble.
And I just I look at when I'm looking at
the playoff picture now now, I think you have to
have a realistic expectation of who can do damage and
who cannot do damage. And the Bills today had all
they could handle from the Browns, and it may be

(07:23):
some of their own doing. Josh Allen didn't have a
great day in the air, but they were able to
take care of things, take care of business on the ground.
But I still think that the Bills scare people. I
don't know if the Lions do in the NFC anymore.
And I felt like that over the last couple of years,
like the Lions were just the team that maybe you were.
I mean that last year they were the number one

(07:44):
overall seed. But like, I don't see them going on
a tear of winning three straight games because I just
don't think that they're good enough to do that.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
Yeah, I agree, I don't think they are. And as
soon as we say that right now, they're going to
tear this game and keep going. But yeah, it's just
from what we've seen so far this year, this team
doesn't have that capability and they don't have the personnel.
Teams can get hot and teams can get streaky and
put on on, put on displays of really good football

(08:12):
for a couple of games. But if you don't have
you don't have the players and you don't have the personnel,
it won't carry over because at the end of the day,
the teams that win the big games, they have guys
and it doesn't matter. Like you can go back to
even to the olden days, right we talk about the
old school the Ravens or the old school Buccaneers and
those teams where it wasn't like flashy, it wasn't this

(08:34):
big onslaught points or whatever. They could stop, you get stops,
but they had guys. And you can look on that
roster and be like, oh, they got so and so,
they got Derek Brooks, they got you know, like they
have these jump you know, like they have guys, and
so even though you may not fear them, you got
to fear individuals. And if the individual wins that day,

(08:55):
they can wreck your game. And I don't see Detroit
having those guys.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
He's carry on. John dan Byer technical producer is Chris
Profat who covers the Lions. Would you is that is
that fair to say that? Actually, I don't want to
put words in your mouth again. Yeah, do you agree
that the Lions don't put fear into opponents as they
did in previous years.

Speaker 5 (09:16):
The offensive line, I think is what has really changed
the whole question, because I think all their skill positions
are the final that they really miss Sam Laporter right now,
like all there's still like nothing's changed with the golf,
nothing's changed with Gibbs. I think Gibbs still scares people.
Like the offensive line is the the I can say
the straw that stirs the drink. I always mix those
two things back. It's a very hard Yeah, I always

(09:38):
do that all the time. Yeah, that stirs the drink,
that stirs the straw.

Speaker 2 (09:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (09:44):
But like without without Frank Rag now and now they're
down like Graham Glasgow as I think is out for
this game too. Like their interior offensive line has been
really beat up, and I think that's kind of the
big part of this. And like, yeah, I mean this
is now the second year in a row you've seen
teams not really like realizing that their defense as much
as they have a wonderful weapon in Aiden Hutchinson, Like, yeah,

(10:06):
this defense is still going to give up points. DB's
are way. We were joking you might need to suit
up because of how the state of the dB room
is at. But like I think that's that's going to
be the lesson here is like they're going to have
to improve their defense if they want to be taken
seriously going into this this future, because this is now
the second year where it's like you need your offense
to be working almost perfect yep, to stop what you're

(10:27):
giving up on the defense. And without Frank ragnow, without
that O line, you can't be perfect on offense.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
And that's the thing, Chris, I mean when you say
when I talk about dudes or I talk about stars,
that can be on the line as well. And so
like that's a that's a great point with Detroit.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
With Detroit, like you're just basically hoping that Aiden Hutchinson
can get a sack and strip fumble, And I mean
that's truly what it is. And we've talked a lot
about working in concert and a lot of times defenses
on high powered offenses aren't going to stop people, but
they will get the the the big play. Yeah, they'll

(11:01):
be able to to end up getting a sack, to
get a turnover, to put the pressure on. The reason
I paused is because Craves CTN was on his way
to the end zone but was stopped short. But it's
going to be a first and goal for Jacksonville as
the Jaguars are in a seven to seven tie with
the Broncos. But Detroit hasn't had that. They haven't had
like a defense that's opportunistic, that can turn teams over,

(11:23):
it can get sacks and get after them.

Speaker 5 (11:25):
And they had a good amount of turnovers last year
with Kirby Joseph, but that was as you say, that's
so much that it is dependent on the pass rush.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
Yeah, then you joke about carry shooting up and they
wouldn't even him in the playoffs. They had no one
on the secondary last year, you know at the end
of the year.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
Now last last year, last year, that was Ardery across
the floor. If last year we asked this question, I
may have suited up Chris Hey one year removed.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
Now now just twenty.

Speaker 6 (11:55):
More.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
No, no, no, the the Jaguars is t jefe first
and goals situation, getting stuffed on the first carry. So
now it's going to be second in goal under five
minutes to go until halftime. There it's a ten to seven.
I misspoken said it was seven to seven. Ten to
seven Denver on top of Jacksonville. In that contest, the
Cardinals after that b Jhon Robinson touchdown got the football.

(12:17):
They are back in Falcons territory, first down and ten
at around the forty three and the Raiders are driving
carry roads. Yes, they are inside the red zone against
the Texans and the Raiders facing a big third down
in a seven to nothing game. Early in the second quarter,
we got a Jaguest touchdown yep, Trevor Lawrence to Breton

(12:38):
Strange touchdown pass from about three yards out. So Jacksonville
reclaims the lead in Denver. In that contest. Jacksonville has
a way where they could be the number one overall seed.
I know, I want to talk about them too. On
the other side, they're that's starting to pick it up
Dan the Raiders in the end zone. Rock Bowers touched
on reception from g Know Smith. As long as there's

(13:01):
no laundry on the field, that's gonna be good. So
the Raiders an extra point away from tying it up.
He is carry road. I'm Dan Byer, and the Steelers
and Lions. Lions settle for a field goal knotted up
at three apiece as they play midway through the second quarter.

Speaker 3 (13:15):
It got change those words now. I know you're under
doing the read, but don't say settle with three. They
got there, they got Zich and.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
Mister conservative over here, always take the points, Always take
the points. I got a question for you in overtime.
We're gonna get to that a little bit later on
in the program, but coming up next, we're gonna focus
on one of the big games today, as the Chargers
went to Dallas and we're able to get a victory
over the Cowboys. The Bolts, even with the banged of
Justin Herbert, finding ways to win football games. I'm sure

it's three three Steelers and Lions. Midway through the set quarter,
the Texans and Raiders in that seven to all ball

(14:04):
game I didn't see. Do the Raiders make the extra
point on that contest? Yes they did, so it is
tied up at seven, Thank you very much, Shay. Cardinals
up on the Falcons nearing the red zone in a
thirteen to ten ballgame in Arizona, and the Jaguars extra
point was good. They lead Denver fourteen to ten, about
four and a half to go until halftime. We'll go
to Big D for that Chargers Cowboys game next here

(14:24):
on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (14:27):

Jaguars at Broncos shotgun empty backfield for travor dropping looking
looking fires left side walk Breton Strange on the left.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
Side of the end up touchdown.

Speaker 8 (15:12):
Touchdown to Frendon Strange. What three yard touchdown pass? Jackson
vallagree taking the lady.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
That's a heck of a play by Briton Strange junior.

Speaker 8 (15:22):
Back to Dan Beyer and carry Rhodes.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
Highlight their courtesy of ten ten xl A ninety two
point five FM and the Jaguars Radio Network. They're up
on the Broncos fourteen to ten at the two minute warning.
In Denver, Cardinals settled for a field goal in the
trip to the Falcons red zone. So it's sixteen to
ten of Birds on top of the Birds, but it's
the Cardinals on top of the Falcons. In Arizona, four
fifty seven to go until halftime, the Lions and Steelers

(15:46):
still tied up at three a piece, six under six
minutes to go until halftime. Texans have kicked a field goal.
After that Raiders touchdown, it's ten to seven Houston on
top of Las Vegas. Let's head to Big D and
focus on Chargers. Cow No, it's time for the NFL
out the box focus. Christina Pink was there on the

(16:10):
sidelines as the Chargers got a thirty four to seventeen
win over the Cowboys today. Hello Christina'm merry Christmas, Happy holidays.
How are you hello?

Speaker 9 (16:18):
I'm great, Thank you, Merry Christmas and happy holidays. See
you guys as well.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
Let's get into this eleven and four Chargers team. How
is Justin Herbert doing this basically with one hand over
three hundred yards today and two touchdowns.

Speaker 9 (16:31):
I know, I mean, thankfully for him, it's the non
throwing him, but still, I mean, coming into this point,
he kind of admitted that he might be dealing with
some pain, but he said, look, when you know, when
you're playing in the game, you don't think about it.
You put it aside and just kind of go out
there and play ball. But they've been smart about it
during the week. He doesn't really take any snaps on
it thunder center because he doesn't want to, like saying

(16:51):
that hand, but you know, he's clearly does seem to
be bothered by it in the game. You know, at
times he takes hits, he runs out their extens and
it's out of his mind when he's out there. But
you know, it's something he's probably gonna have to deal with.
The healing the rest of the season. But it's definitely
gotten better and better each week. He tell us the
swellings down, he's getting the mobility back, So I think

(17:13):
it's just going to be a slow process for him.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
Listen, Christine, the next time you see him, tell him
please slide. Do not take any more here. I want
to see him in the playoffs, please. But I mean,
obviously he played a great game, but I think the
I think this team is going to go as far
as the other playmakers. I mean, they got Omario on
Hampton back last week. He got sixteen carries today and
play well. And I think Quinton Johnston is going to

(17:35):
be huge for this team. Can you talk about their
performance today?

Speaker 9 (17:39):
Yeah, you know, and that was big coming into this one,
getting Quinton Johnson back. You know, we obviously have playmakers.
Everybody talks about lad everybody talks about Keenan, and those
guys are consistent and productive. But Justin told us before
this one it's going to come down to the running game.
We need the running being to step up for us.
That you saw that a lot today, especially in that
first half. Get just getting the right game going really

(18:00):
kind of set the tone for them. Offensively, and that's
going to be important, especially they've had you know, he
didn't take any hits today, but they've had a lot
of offensive line issues this year with so many injuries.
So they need to find some consistency in the run game,
and you're right, that's what's going to be important for
them down the stretch.

Speaker 2 (18:16):
Christina Ping joining us here. She was on the sidelines
for Fox as the Chargers top the Cowboys thirty four
to seventeen. He's the All Pro Carrie Roads. I'm Dan
Byer here on Fox Sports Radio. So what's the mood
with the Cowboys? They weren't going to go to the postseason,
they knew that before kickoff? How did they approach this game?
What was their mood? How were they approaching the rest
of the season now that the postseason it isn't on

(18:37):
the horizon.

Speaker 9 (18:38):
Yeah, I mean, obviously it didn't become official until the
Eagles won last night, But coming into this one, obviously
they knew it was a slim chance of hope for
them to make the playoffs and then they were officially
eliminated last night. These guys have talked about the fact
that it's important for them to finish the season strong.
They got a first year head coach. They want to,
you know, kind of build some momentum as the season is,

(19:00):
especially going into his second year, and Dak specifically was like, listen,
this time last year, I was coming out of crutches,
you know, like I've been itsing to get back in
the fall the field, and it's been tough for him.
You know, this has been an up and down yere.
This is the first time since twenty nineteen that he's
healthy and not making the playoffs. But considering all the
injuries they have defensively, they kind of like, look, we

(19:21):
got to come out here, we got to play well
and kind of set the tone for how we want
to start next year.

Speaker 3 (19:25):
Yeah, Coucina to kind of piggyback off of Dan on
this question. I think this team is really close and
speaking about the Cowboys to being a threat again, and
I like the philosophy that Schottenheimer has kind of given
this group, and like I know, George Pickens, I know
they want to sign him back to Dallas.

Speaker 2 (19:43):
What are the signs there? Do you think he's going
to come back or he's going to test free agency?

Speaker 9 (19:48):
I am so sorry you cut out there. Three peches.

Speaker 3 (19:51):
Oh that's okay, no, no, no, I was just talking
about so I mean as far as Dallas there, I
think they're really close to competing and being a dangerous team.
And I said, you know, obviously George Pickens is going
to be a big question mark coming back. I know
they want to sign him, but what's the Is there
any kind of clarity around if he wants to be
back or has he talked about that at all yet.

Speaker 9 (20:09):
I will say I didn't specifically talk to him about
his future, and he's kind of addressed just publicly, you know,
with their local media that he focused on the next game,
the task at hand. But I will say I talked
to him coming into this one just at their Friday practice,
and he's happy, Like he is really happy with this
team in the city. He talks about being a guy

(20:30):
from the South and how much comfortable he feels here.
He loves his coach, you know, like CD's welcomed him in,
he loves Dak and he seems like a guy who's
just really obviously is having a career year. I know
he had a couple of bad games the last couple
of weeks. He broke out today, but he's really happy
with this offense, and it seems like a guy that's
hoping to return to this Cowboy team, because I can

(20:51):
tell you like they love him in the building and
saw the joy today and he's just even talking to
him coming into this one.

Speaker 2 (20:58):
In the losing effort, he had seven catches, hundred thirty
yards and a score, but not enough as the Chargers
get through in Christina, thanks so much for the time.
We love talking to you. Merry Christmas, and we'll talk
to you in the new year.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
Thanks so much, Thanks so much.

Speaker 9 (21:10):
I have a great week, guy.

Speaker 2 (21:11):
Too, Christina Pink. Watching the Chargers top the Cowboys today
thirty four to seventeen dance, he.

Speaker 3 (21:15):
Says something really really good. They're really poignant there. We
always give these guys when they're at whatever stop they're at,
and maybe they have a bad moment or you know,
a bad season, and you maybe do some stuff out
of character. Maybe that is his character, Maybe it's not
what we were trying to figure it out in Pittsburgh.
This guy was a guy that people were saying was
a bad apple, would never be the number one guy

(21:38):
because he doesn't do the things right all the time.
And now he goes to a new situation where he
has to prove himself. Obviously, a contract here, what's going
to be on your best behavior? But I'm I'm kind.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
Of intrigued about what his future holds. I think there's
two things about George Pickens to what you're saying is,
I think sometimes we overestimate Mike Tomlin and the Steelers
aura in that. Unfortunately for them, they've had issues with
wide receivers before Antonio Brown most famously, but so so

(22:11):
maybe that's not fit for everybody. We talk so much
about the Steelers and the culture and just them never
having losing seasons, but we talk more about them not
reaching the ultimate peak that they did with Super Bowls,
you know, fifteen twenty years ago. But I think that
sometimes guys just maybe don't fit in certain buildings. And

(22:31):
it's also, let's be honest, the Cowboys have a way
better offense than Pittsburgh does. Yeah, they're way better suited
to utilize George Pickens in his skills than they ever
were in Pittsburgh. So I think that ultimately would make
someone happy. And then if George Pickens wants to look
around the league, that's going to be the question. And
the Cowboys can have the ultimate say with the franchise take,

(22:53):
you know, to possibly place it on him, but that's
gonna be that's gonna be their decision, and I think
that they would like to keep him. And if you
could just put it together for one more year and
now with the assets that you acquired after trading Micah Parsons,
maybe see what you get in twenty twenty six, and
then you could make the real long term question about

(23:16):
George Pickens. Yeah, so have him in the building for
more than a calendar year. I think would probably be
the best way to look at it for Dallas. But again,
now six eight and one eliminated from the postseason, while
the Chargers, despite all of their injuries, eleven and four,
five and two away from home, and that doesn't even
count the win that they had in Week one when

(23:37):
the Chiefs were at full strength, that they won and
ended up winning in Brazil. He his carrier outs, I'm
Dan Byer. Let's get an update of what's happening in
this late window with Manci Belagios. Looks like the Jaguars
are trying to tack on some points and whatnot.

Speaker 3 (23:49):
They sure are?

Speaker 10 (23:51):
I am not a believer of the Jaguars, but I
think I'm supposed to be at this point, right. I
did take them to win because there's no way Denver
wins twelve in a row.

Speaker 11 (23:58):
Ye, that's like my only reason. There's just no way
you win twelve in a row. It's hard to win
a damn game. But I am not a believer of
the Jaguars, but maybe I should be. They are driving.

Speaker 10 (24:10):
They are at Denver's like twenty nine yard line, so
they're approaching the red zone. But we're coming down to
the final twelve seconds of the first half. The Jaguars
are up fourteen.

Speaker 11 (24:18):
To ten in this one.

Speaker 10 (24:20):
B Jon Robinson has three carries fifty eight yards and
a touchdown, but the Falcons are losing to the Cardinals.
The Cardinals on the road. Sixteen to ten is the
score final two minutes of the first half. Atlanta currently
has the ball at Arizona's twenty eight yard line, but
it is fourth and one, and just how we expect it.
Steelers and Lions tied at three late in the second
quarter in Detroit, just like we all expected it. That's

(24:42):
how that one's going. And Brock Bowers did get in
the end zone touchdown pass from Gino Smith. But the
Texans are up on the Raiders right now ten seven
Houston with the pick six.

Speaker 11 (24:52):
Ten seven is a score with about five minutes to
go in the first half.

Speaker 10 (24:56):
What happened earlier today, while the Panthers with a last
minute interception and top the Buccaneers twenty three to twenty,
so they do lead the.

Speaker 11 (25:04):
Division for now.

Speaker 10 (25:06):
Next week Carolina faces the Seahawks, Tampa Bay faces the Dolphins,
and then they see each other once again, so anything
can happen in that division. Still, it wasn't pretty, but
the Bills defeated the Browns twenty three to twenty. Also,
Cleveland running back quin Shawn Judkins suffered a dislocated ankle
and broken fibula. He has done will have surgery. Yes,
it was not pretty, don't look at the replay. Chargers

(25:27):
improved to eleven and four. You guys were talking about.
The Chargers outscored the Cowboys thirty four to seventeen. Justin
Herbert three for three hundred yards and two touchdowns. He
also had a rushing touchdown. The Bengals crushed the Dolphins
forty five to twenty one, where Chase Brown had twelve
carries sixty six yards and a touchdown, plus four catches
forty three yards and two touchdowns. All three of those
touchdowns came in the third quarter when yours for Miami

(25:49):
twenty of thirty two hundred and sixty yards and two interceptions.
The Vikings top the Giants sixteen to thirteen. Titans crushed
the Chiefs twenty six to nine. Also, Chiefs quarterback Gardner
minshe they feared that he actually tore his ACL So
Chris Ala duccan, I think that's his name. He do
dokin Yeah no from Samford, who was signed from the

(26:13):
practice squad literally this weekend came in. He ended eleven
of sixteen, four hundred and eleven yards for the Chiefs.
The Saints cruise passed the Jets twenty nine to six.
The Jets are the first team in NFL history to
not have an interception in fifteen consecutive games.

Speaker 2 (26:27):
Oh, they definitely need me then I can get it.

Speaker 10 (26:30):
Say get it in there, get in there where other
Just NFL news Real quick. Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter
and offensive tackle Lane Johnson are both expected to be back.

Speaker 11 (26:41):
In time next week for the Eagles, who face the bills.

Speaker 10 (26:44):
In baseball, the White Sox had a big signing today,
Munataka Murakami to a two year, thirty four million dollar deal.
He's twenty five years old and is the single season
home run champion in Japan. And he went to UH
Chicago and also in volleyball, Women's volleyball Texas A and
I won the national championship beating Kentucky in straight sets.

Speaker 11 (27:03):
It wasn't even close.

Speaker 8 (27:05):
It was so good.

Speaker 3 (27:06):
Back to you guys, Thank.

Speaker 2 (27:08):
You very much. Yeah, Monsey getting all of the bases covered,
and well, Monty was telling us what was going on
in the world of sports. DK Metcalf is fighting with fans. Yeah,
what's going on?

Speaker 4 (27:19):
You saw it?

Speaker 2 (27:19):
I didn't. I didn't. Carrie's pointing to the screen and
I was looking at a different game. But I'm me
and Shay we're sing in here is wow. So, so
what actually transpired with DK Metcalf. I see a tweet.
DK Metcalf's out here punching people wearing blue winds.

Speaker 4 (27:36):
I just saw.

Speaker 2 (27:36):
I just saw.

Speaker 3 (27:37):
I thought he was having a conversation, just like a
friendly conversation, uh, with the with the fan with the
blue wig. And I'm like, oh, that's kind of cute.
And then I saw him swaying. I was like, oh,
oh okay, this is this is a little much, and
so he actually swung at the fan. It wasn't one
of these, man, it wasn't.

Speaker 2 (27:50):
It was right.

Speaker 3 (27:51):
It was like a like a roundhouse upper cut underneath
because he was really low.

Speaker 2 (27:56):
It's like a hook. Yeah, it was like a hook.
Maybe that's what it was. I'm trying to see if
the replay and they were doing a report on CBS,
but they didn't necessarily. Oh here we go, I see
what's happening. Yeah. Yeah, some fan was talking trash on
the sidelines by the ways to be executed.

Speaker 5 (28:14):
For that right, it looks like he was like grabbing
this person by their blue wig as well, like holding
him down to like get closer too.

Speaker 2 (28:21):
So well, the Lions are in the end zone, so
that fan is happy right now. Isaac Tasla Tesla was cool,
but I think it's actually cooler cooler to say Tesla
Isaac Teslau with the touchdown reception on the pass from
Jared Goff, so the Lion's taking the lead near the

(28:42):
end of the first half. I don't know what you
can do if you're in official in that scenario. But
if you're the NFL and you see this like DK
Metcalf's not going to play in Week seventeen, I don't
know how you can do that with a fan.

Speaker 5 (28:57):
No, by the way, the game, That's what I'm saying, Like,
I'm is he still is he not has been thrown out?

Speaker 2 (29:04):
Is he just I'm still here?

Speaker 3 (29:06):
I don't think they saw it, But that's what I'm saying, Dan,
you think they could like I'm sorry, everybody's seeing it now,
like relay it and get him out the game?

Speaker 2 (29:13):
Now? Yeah, I don't think that. I don't think that
you can, Like the referee is not going to throw
a flag and say, you know, personal foul DK Metcalf. However,
the NFL, I would believe, would have the jurisdiction to
say the interaction during Week sixteen is going to cost
you Week seventeen. Ultimately, for the Steelers, depending on how
the Ravens fare in these couple of games, their season
is going to come down to till Week eighteen against

(29:35):
Baltimore really, no matter what happens with them, if Baltimore
continues to win, even if the Steelers would lose today
and losing Week seventeen, they would still have the opportunity
to win the AFC North. But like DK Metcalf, can't
be doing this in a game that your team was
actually tied with at the time and hanging in there.
I know you're frustrated, but it's not the first time

(29:56):
that a fan of said the player. And for DK
Metcalf to go over there and say something during the
during the game because it was on the sidelines, it's
like the seat it was about a fifty yard line
seat for the fan.

Speaker 3 (30:08):
And it makes no sense, Like you're in a three
three game. You used to be focused on doing everything
you can to win the game.

Speaker 2 (30:16):
Yes, and by the way, if you're a fan and
you you get your rocks off by taunting players and
talking to them, yeah, you're a loser like you are,
like DK Metcalf, there's no excuse for it. But that
is like that is that ticket that you get, I
assume is probably a lot of money, fifty yard line
first row behind the Steelers bench, right, A lot of

(30:38):
money still doesn't give you the reason or the right
to to say something. And I'll say this, when DK
swung his hand, I don't think it was a punch punch,
The fan stood up and lifted both arms up like, yes,
I got him. Yeah yes, So so like that's that's

(31:00):
what tells me that I think that you're like you
can you can heckle, you can cheer, you can do
all that stuff. Yeah, But if your ultimate goal is
to get under someone's skin so much that they throw
a punch at you and you think you've won, I
think you're an idiot.

Speaker 3 (31:15):
Yeah he used to be banned as well. Yeah, one
hundred percent. No, I agree with that he should and
be having no seats again for sure. Sure, it's I mean,
who's who's got more to gain and more to lose
in that situation?

Speaker 2 (31:26):
Right? Right? So the DK Metcalf has got to be smarter.
But for the fan to think that you can do
something like that or feel that it was a win
that he was able to do something like that, is ridiculous.
Stand over over under What did the fan say to
get DK? I'll tell you what I probably Chris profess
exclusive audio.

Speaker 5 (31:47):
I don't I don't know what they said, but apparently
I've seen reports of this fan had a was holding
like a DK Metcalf shirt or jersey as well. So
like I'm going to imagine something related, like specifically targeting
him directly or something.

Speaker 2 (32:03):
It's interesting. He does have blue hair, and there is
a I'm looking at the replay has something yellow in
some sort of yellow. It's not a terrible towel. It's
not what it is. You'll see Steelers fans carry those
all over the place. By the way, DK Metcay just
dropped a pass. I would have gone for a first down.
That's when I'm second down and ten see Dan, That's
what I'm saying, Like now he's all bewildered and not
making plays.

Speaker 3 (32:23):
The thing that he said, I'm in an easy little
end route and cut here that he catches all the time,
right in his hands.

Speaker 2 (32:28):
He drops it, Like focus on the game. These Steelers
down ten to three in that contest, under two minutes
to go until halftime. We told you the Falcons. They
got into the end zone Kirk Cousins to Kyle Pitts. However,
the extra point deflected in no good. So we got
a pair of sixteen's on the board between Atlanta and Arizona,
sixteen all with thirteen seconds left to go. The Texans

(32:51):
got their defensive touchdown. They've only added a field goal
to that it's a ten to seven games. They leave
the Raiders. Texans have the football near midfield at the
two minute warning, but just a three point lead for Houston,
while at the half Jacksonville continuous lead the Broncos by
a score of seventeen to ten. Hey feeding off the

Speaker 2 (34:31):
Jared Lean's in.

Speaker 12 (34:32):
There's the snap Jared back looking looking throwing middle end zone.
E donn'd bebby Want to catch Isaac Tesla absorbing a
big shot and hanging on to the football twenty yards
on the strike Bryant into the end zone for the.

Speaker 6 (34:47):
First time today once again, here's Dan Byer and Carrie Rhodes.

Speaker 2 (34:53):
Ninety seven point one the ticking. The Lions Radio Network
extra point was good gave the Lions the lead. But
there's now a funky play, which is two seconds after
the first half in Detroit, a pass to Kenneth Gainwell
is being reviewed. Gainwell was on the ground crazy and
ended up catching a pass and I don't think the
ball hit the ground. He then got up and ran

(35:15):
without being touched by a Lions defender and went into
the end zone. They are now calling it a touchdown
for Pittsburgh. With two seconds left, Gainwell and Alex Azeloni
got their legs caught up with mixed up with each other.
Both fell to the ground. When Gainwell was on the ground,
the pass from Aaron Rodgers, Oh my goodness, hits Gainwell's arm,

(35:37):
falls into his lap and he gets up and runs
and it's going to be a touchdown for the Steelers
at the end of the half. This is an unbelievable
play by Kenneth Gainwell. The question is going to be
did Anzelone's foot touch Gainwell's foot as they were interlocked.
Manzi's giving me the no, and they're calling it a touchdown.

Speaker 3 (35:58):
I don't see the leg touch is there, and I
think I need clarification on this rule, right, So as
he was making the catch, he was touched by Azeloni,
but he didn't get touched down, touched by him as
after he caught the ball on the ground.

Speaker 2 (36:13):
Yeah, Angelone. The ass was the reason why he fell.
But he did not have possession of the football. Yeah, there,
so when he did have possion of the football, no
one was touching him. Man, when it actually caught and
when he caught it. And now Chris Boswell is on
to kick the extra point, and it's good. We got
a ten ball game in Detroit, seventeen ten Jags on
top of the Broncos underway in the second half, Texans
kicked the field go up. They're up thirteen to seven
on the Raiders and at the half sixteen all between

(36:35):
the Falcons and Cardinals. He is Cary Roads. I'm Dan
beyer Manci Blanio says our fantasy hits, Fantasy hits, and missus.

Speaker 10 (36:45):
All right, guys, we're gonna start with the quarterbacks. Your
top performing quarterback of the day is Joe Burrow. He
ended with thirty six Fantasy points, throwing for three hundred
and nine yards and four touchdowns. Not too far behind
you Burrow is justin Herbert who went with thirty four points.
He threw for three hundred yards, also in two touchdowns,

(37:06):
but he also had forty two yards and a touchdown
on the ground.

Speaker 11 (37:09):
So right now, those are your top quarterbacks of the day.

Speaker 10 (37:12):
When it comes to your wide receivers, Chris Olave is
the top wide receiver of the day today with thirty
six points. He had ten catches for one hundred and
forty eight yards and two touchdowns. No, I'm not upset
about it. I'm not playing him in Fantasy fine throwing
the ball today, it depends because one of them I
think was Tyler Sugar What Tesem Hill?

Speaker 11 (37:33):
Yeah, Carrie, Yeah, it was like it's a Tasum Hill.

Speaker 13 (37:37):
Was in there too.

Speaker 10 (37:39):
Your other wide receiver of the day George Pickens with
twenty six points, despite the loss for the Cowboys. He
had seven catches, one hundred and thirty yards and a touchdown.
When it comes to the running backs, the top running
back of the day is Chase.

Speaker 11 (37:52):
Brown thirty two points.

Speaker 10 (37:53):
Most most of this work happened in the third quarter
because the Bengals benched their players like for the fourth
quarter because they were just winning. But he had twelve
carries sixty six yards in a touchdown, plus four catches
for forty three yards and two touchdowns. The other running
back up there with him is James Cook. He had
twenty five points today in the Bills win. He had
sixteen carries for one hundred and seventeen yards and two touchdowns.

Speaker 11 (38:17):
Those are just some of your fantasy hits of the
day so far.

Speaker 2 (38:20):
Thank you very much, Monci. Maybe our j Harvey will
be a fantasy hit. He just scored for the Denver
Broncos on a run that covered about forty yards, so
Denver an extra point away from tying things up with Jacksonville.
This is a great week now. Next week is fantasy
championships for most everybody in Week seventeen. But it is

(38:41):
a very very exciting week. Actually, more teams still alive
because of the semi finals. It reminds me a little
bit of the conference championship week in college basketball. Then
you have the NCAA Tournament the next week. But a
great couple of weeks here in the NFL and fantasy
aside from all of the playoff implications coming down the stretch,
are you still alive in your league? I am, but

(39:04):
I am, I am. I'm just not going to talk
about this as much. I just don't think people care.
That's the only reason why. But well I can tell
you about it. No, I'm kidding. I'm absolutely kidding. The RJ.
Harvey one broke a few tackles and then it looked
like he was about to go out of bounds instead
kind of dough for the pylon and gets in. So

(39:25):
it's seventeen all between the Jaguars and Broncos. How about this.
We have seventeen seventeen Jacksonville and Denver, sixteen sixteen Falcons
and Cardinals in ten ten to in the Steelers and Lions. Yeah,
can't ask for more. In the Raiders, We're not gonna
leave the Raiders out. They're putting up a fight against
the Texans. Henly, in the Texans are wearing their battle

(39:45):
red uniforms, so it look very very sharp at the
Raiders playing a close game thirteen to seven in that contest.

Speaker 3 (39:52):
Yeah, no, we got a good slate of games. I mean,
obviously the Atlanta Arizona one. We probably didn't think that
would be one we pay attention to too often, but
they're both playing a competitive game and they're fighting. Obviously,
the Pittsburgh Yeah, the Pittsburgh Detroit game. We got our
eyes on in Jackson, Buvielle, Denver.

Speaker 2 (40:07):
But yeah, goods late, We're gonna take a look at
what happened earlier today in Week sixteen, because there was
a lot that happened. I want you to think about this,
who is the worst best franchise in the NFL? Or
maybe it's who's the best worst franchise? That may be
a better way to put it, because there's one franchise
that I think is up for a nomination. We'll get

(40:28):
to that. Plus what a day for Joe Burrow and
what exactly are the Dolphins doing after that affair against
the Bengals in South Florida. He's Carrier Roads. I'm Dan Byer.
It's Week sixteen here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (40:41):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (40:44):
Four games in this late window, and we got four
competitive contests underway in the second half of the Falcons
and Cardinals, plus the Jaguars and Broncos. As you heard
Monty say, how about the Lions and Steelers at the
half and that Kenneth Gainwell catch, Yeah, really amazing, and
it was all Kenneth Gainwell. I thought the ball accidentally
hit his arm and if you're driving in your car,

(41:05):
you'll probably see the replay tonight, you'll see it on
your phone. But an amazing catch by Kenneth Gainwell at
the end of the half to allow the Steelers to
pull even with the Lions. But it was him getting
his hand on the football, making sure that it didn't
hit the ground, and then getting up and having to
wherewith all the get up and get it to the
end zone because again there were just a few seconds
left on the clock. He goes in and.

Speaker 3 (41:24):
Scores, and now we got a tie ball game, tie
ball game on something like that. And that's the part
about football that makes it exciting. Right, Detroit seems like
they're in control. They go down and take a lead,
and with two seconds left, you throw up a prayer
up and somebody gets that prayer answer crazy.

Speaker 1 (41:40):
All right?

Speaker 2 (41:40):
Hit carry up at carry twenty five roads. You could
find me at dan Byer on Fox. I gave you
a little homework during the time out there. I said,
tell me who your best worst franchise is in the NFL.
And this is as a whole, like the best worst franchise.
And I thought the worst best franchise is another way
that you can put it. Maybe it's maybe it's the
same thing, but I'm just gonna say your best worst franchise,

(42:04):
well best worst, best best worst.

Speaker 3 (42:07):
You think they're the same, I don't think they're the same, okay,
And I think there's a difference. And I'll say it
this way because obviously this one's close to me and
it's one that has has brought me a lot of
grief over the years. But I've actually openly rooted for
a little bit this year because it was one of
those like cool picks for me. And it's going to
be the Patriots, Okay, I would say best worse, right,

(42:31):
And I would say in the sense of best. Obviously
they've had a lot of success, They've won Super Bowls
and we know about all that stuff. Even going further right,
they're a Patriot like everything about them seems like it
should be the best of all of us, the best
of the things. But when you really think about the
Patriots and you think about the best worst, the worst
is for me, number one, they're cheaters and they've been cheaters.

Speaker 2 (42:52):
For a few years. Interesting take on worse stuff, okay,
And they've.

Speaker 3 (42:55):
Been cheaters and they've had some success that was kind
of directly, you know, contribute it from that situation. But
also for me, I've had games where I could have
made the playoffs or in the playoffs, they've stolen something
from me. So for me it's personal and I call
it worse because they've taken from me.

Speaker 2 (43:14):
And that's why. That's that's that's fair enough. And your
worst the reasoning behind in our definition of was different
than mine. I'm glad you didn't do w W U
R S T. It's a whole different kind of worst.
My best worst franchise is the New York Giants, and
I'm using a different definition of worst than you have.

(43:37):
The Giants remind me kind of that's this sort ofmentary
too drastic. I was gonna say the Marlins. Oh, I know,
it's it's when we look at the Giants during their
best years, now, the Parcels years. There were a lot
of really good years. Yes, but as of late, if

(44:00):
Eli Manning wasn't pulling a rabbit out of his hat
with a great defensive front with the Giants, something was
going wrong, something was going awry, and they were missing
out of the playoffs. And maybe it was Eli throwing interceptions,
whatever the case may be. But this is a franchise
with four Super Bowl titles right in the mecca of America,

(44:20):
the media mecca, and the Jets are such a you know,
dumpster fire that it makes the Giants look better than
they are. But in a game today against the Minnesota Vikings,
and I know she just stepped out because she's talking
to the people on the other side of the class.

(44:41):
I knew this timing. But moncei Ata stat that Jackson
Dart didn't complete a pass until the end of the
first half. Really, it was an absolute awful day for
the Giants. And I get that they are they're a
team that has a lot of injuries. Camp Scataboo Elik neighbors.
But when you look at the history of like the

(45:01):
Giants and where they are and what they've tried to
do in finding a replacement for Tom Coughlin, Yeah, and
it gets it's been a mess. And I don't think
that anybody would say that the Giants are a bad franchise,
but of the best franchises, I think they're the worst
of them. And it's because of that hit or miss
and it's boy, are they really missing again? So I

(45:23):
think it's in the Giants loss to the Vikings today,
and the Vikings lost JJ McCarthy in the game where
Max Brosemure had to come in. So JJ McCarthy's dealing
with a hand injury and the Giants still can't get
a win. And I know that there may be brighter
days ahead, but everything of the Giants' history in the
past tells me that that's not necessarily a guarantee. Wow, right,

(45:44):
So there's no guarantee that Malik Neighbors comes back fully healthy.
There's no guarantee that Jackson Dart, for as great as
he is, can handle the full load and lead this
team to be a winning football team. The numbers that
he put up prior to today have been great, But
I just I wonder and when you look at that
franchise as a whole, what they've accomplished, there are some

(46:05):
great glory days and you cannot take away the four Lombardes. Yep. However,
in this instance, Jackson Dart threw for thirty three yards today,
So that's a good one. Dan, I wouldn't have thought
about that at all. I just I was in seeing
on how bad they are they and the Raiders depending
how the Raiders play next week, they play each other

(46:25):
in Las Vegas. They have the two worst records in
the National Football League, so whoever loses that is going
to have the inside track at the number of the
first overall pick. By the way, for those that are
wondering the tiebreaker, say that the Giants and Raiders were
to tie for the worst record, the winner of that
game wouldn't get the first overall pick. They still go

(46:46):
to strength of schedule in that scenario. Okay, So yeah,
so that's just something to look at it. But I
just wanted to bring it up because it was just
an absolute awful day for the Giants who fall to
two and thirteen. Jackson Art was seven to thirteen for
thirty three yards in an interception. Yeah, that sounds like
they're trying to lose Dan because that's bad because Jackson
hasn't played that bad at all. But I didn't. I

(47:06):
didn't get to see the game, so I don't know
how it went. Consider yourself lucky. I think I am
as well. But they know that that's a good that's
a good thing. That like the best worse, because.

Speaker 3 (47:16):
Yeah, you think about the Giants and you think, yeah,
there's no way, they're worse or whatever whatever the anybody
will say or bad or bad franchise because of the
Lombardi's right, But then you think about the last ten
years and they've been bad.

Speaker 2 (47:29):
Yeah, they've reached the pinnacle that so many teams would
love to and they've done it once, they've done it
four times, right, so it's been there for them. Happening
in Arizona. This is a feel that you played on
Kerry in your career. Walter Nolan, the Cardinals first round pick,
just went down with what appeared to be a non

(47:50):
contact injury on grass, and you know our path. Doug
Gottlieve on Fox Sports Radio said a week or two
ago one to point out that these non contact injuries
like and Michael Parsons happened on grass. Yeah, so maybe
it isn't always turf, but this playing surface in Arizona
is one of the oddities, right, It's one of the ones.

(48:10):
Hey it's indoor, right, this is this is what we want.
This is what we want with grass. But you played
a Super Bowl there are a couple of years ago.
The footing was awful. I've never heard great things about
that field. Is the is this the problem with the
conversation of everybody saying everything should be grass because this
grass field is definitely not one of the better ones

(48:33):
in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (48:33):
There are different variations of grass, right, Obviously, it's just
not as cut and dry as plan on grass. Right,
there's bermuda, there's different other variations of that type of
grass as well. And so the thing about Arizona though,
it is indoors, so the condensation actually they bring it in,
they will it in, they bring it, they restock it,

(48:53):
they resoid it, they do all these things to try
to keep it fresh. But once you bring it in,
that condensation from being in doors keeps it kind of
slick and so and even with that field as well,
there's no crown neither. So there's so many different things
about that field and even maybe the depth perception of
it could be an issue for for people as well.

Speaker 2 (49:11):
In the Raiders stadium, and the Raiders aren't playing at
home today, they're playing in in Houston. But the Raiders
have two surfaces. They have their grass for the NFL
and UNLV plays on an artificial artificial surface. Really, so yeah,
that is that is actually the grass I believe is
underneath and so the the artificial surfaces. Oh my goodness,
is put in higher. Yeah, it's crazy, but that's that's

(49:34):
the way that it works. But you're right, that field
in Arizona just has never ever been good. And it
continues this conversation. And Cardinal's down a couple of defenders today,
by the way, the Falcon's just converted on a fourth
and two, uh to set them up. And now Buddha
Baker's kind of slow to get up. A lot of
a lot of Cardinal carnage today. We saw Josh Sweatby

(49:54):
helped off earlier. Buddha Baker comes in carry flinches, so
you know it's a safety sort of shoulder. I don't
know if that's a stinger the type of hit that
he put on Kalpits, but tried to jaw the football
loose and was unable to do so. So the Falcons
now have it first and ten at the Arizona twenty
six yard line. Kirk Cousins two touchdown passes on the day,
but a key fourth down conversion is they play in

(50:16):
the third quarter.

Speaker 3 (50:17):
Yeah, Dan, this is the time of the year for
a lot of these guys, I mean, especially older guys
like a Buddha Baker or veteran guys where he's playing
in Arizona. He's three and eleven, there's two more games left,
you know, Like, I don't want to say he's shutting
it down. I mean, I know he's not. He's a
warring He's going out there to play. But it's people
are starting to plan for, you know, their off season things,

(50:37):
and you don't want.

Speaker 2 (50:38):
To be hurt in the off season either. Here's we've
got four quarterbacks in this Cardinals Falcons game. Now, Michael
Pennocks Junior is not available, and either is Kyler Murray.
But they're part of the conversation. Yeah, Pennick's cousins, Murray Brissett.
Who would you want as your starting quarterback in twenty

(50:58):
twenty six out of those four?

Speaker 3 (51:00):
Yes, Oh, it's definitely Michael Penix, definitely coming off of
a knee injury.

Speaker 2 (51:06):
Yeah, definitely Michael Penny better than those four. I who
you got, Jacoby Brissette. I don't know how you cannot
he can play, and and Kyler Murray is going to
be wanted somewhere. There's going to be something to think
that we come around and think that he can be
our guy. Or we could do something with him that's
looking for a quarterback, And honestly, when you see some
of the quarterback play around the league, no matter what

(51:28):
you think of Kyler Murray, Kyler Murray is going to
be an upgrade to those guys. But it's interesting. Like
Kirk Cousins, this is probably a nice last hurrah yep,
third and six by the way for the Falcons now
at the twenty one yard line. But I think it's
an interesting group of four players that you've got where
that the a guy like Jacoby Brissette. Would you put
Brissette too? Would you rather have because I know you're

(51:49):
not a Kyler Murray.

Speaker 3 (51:50):
Yeah, I probably will Putseett too, And obviously yeah, so yes,
it's it's closed. I think Panics just I just think
Panix has uh when I watch him play, he's a
little bit more and he has a Michael Pennock close.

Speaker 2 (52:03):
We're getting very close to be fine here.

Speaker 6 (52:06):
No, I know.

Speaker 2 (52:07):
That's why I said it twice too. I was like,
but yeah, it would be Bresette. Yes, just there you go,
Preset number two. He's carry roads. I'm Dan Beyer. The
Jaguars are into the end zone. Trevor Lawrence a touchdown
run from one yard out. Extra point is good. They're
six or three left in the third. The Jaguars have
taken a twenty four to seventeen lead. These Steelers are

(52:29):
knocking on the door facing a third and two on
the Lions about three and a half yard line, so
it's a short two. And the Steelers got the ball
to start the second half after scoring at the end
of the first half, and now they're knocking on the
door if they don't get this third and two here
where it looks like a play may be reviewed to

(52:50):
see if Darnell Washington fumbled the football we did on
the second down play. Detroit is challenging the ruling. Okay, well,
I want to even ask you the question. I was
just gonna say, should Pittsburgh kick it or go for it?
But we don't even know if they're gonna have the football,
so we'll push that aside. So a review coming up,
which would be devastating. We got to see if there's

(53:10):
a clear review. That's also the messaging in week sixteen,
considering what happened in Seattle on Thursday night, a clear
recovery of the fumble, but as it stands right now,
Detroit is challenging a play by Pittsburgh on a second
down where it appears that Darnell Washington has fumbled. Still
tied up at ten apiece again early in the third quarter,
the Falcons ended up settling for a field goal, So

(53:32):
it's nineteen to sixteen. Raiders have the football down six
just underway in the second half in Houston, Dan, I'm
proud of you.

Speaker 3 (53:38):
Actually, that's not about it. You had a big win
Thursday and you haven't said anything about it yet. I've
been saying still a lot of work to do, Still a.

Speaker 2 (53:46):
Lot of work to do for those Seattle Seahawks. He
is carried r owns. I'm Dan Byer. Maybe we'll throw
my Cardinals Falcons question up to Adam Kaplan, our NFL insider. Plus,
I think that the Dolphins completely threw two under the
bus this week. I don't think it was fair. I
think today was a blatant example of them tanking. You
can only tank so much when you have six wins.

(54:06):
You're not gonna get the first overall pick. We'll get
his thoughts on what Miami did in benching Tua and
where Tua could possibly go next and starting Quinn. Youwers
today in that loss to the Bengals, that and so
much more. He's carry Roads. I'm dan Byer. That's next
to here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 6 (54:20):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live. Raiders at Texans third.

Speaker 4 (54:34):
Down at six Geno in an empty set, Texans bring five.
He fires near.

Speaker 8 (54:38):
Sideline pitch Genty's.

Speaker 1 (54:39):
Try at to thirty.

Speaker 14 (54:41):
Down the sideline, fifteen broken tackle, Touchdowe do goodbite into
the hand zone, sixty yards.

Speaker 6 (54:51):
Touchsound Raiders back to dan Byer and carry Rhodes.

Speaker 2 (54:57):
Wow the Raiders. The Raiders in the lead. On Raider
Nation Radio. He's carry Roads. I'm dan Byer. Up fourteen
to thirteen on the Texans on that sixty yard passing
catch from Geno Smith to Ashton Genty. Not the only
game to have a score. Jaguars Travis etn getting into
the end zone. They're up fourteen on the Broncos three

(55:18):
thirty five and counting left in the third. And we
told you the Steelers were knocking on the door, but
they were reviewing a play that was a possible fumble
by Darnell Washington of the Steelers. It was rule of
fumble recovered by the Lions, but the Lions were backed
up and on a third and eight Jared Goff was
sacked in his own end zone. So the Steelers have
taken a twelve to ten lead on the Lions in Detroit, Pittsburgh,

(55:40):
with the football almost a big play but Aaron Rodgers
could not connect. So the Steelers though with a two
point edge on the Lions, and the Cardinals just missed
a field goal from forty four yards out. Falcons continued
to lead that contest nineteen to sixteen. So far, DK
Metcalfe's not thrown any punches in the second half towards
Fans leads the league right now this week with one

(56:03):
in the first half but zero in the second half.
A guy who pulls no punches is our NFL insider
Adam Kaplan joining us now of course on the inside
of the Birds Podcast Sports Grid and our Fox Sports
Radio NFL insider. Is dk metcalf Adam going to be
a candidate for a suspension after that interaction.

Speaker 13 (56:22):
Let me explain how this works. So the league will
get the video, they'll gather in the information, and they'll
decide what his punishment will be, whether it's just a
fine or suspension. Obviously at dot game check. So yeah,
I mean they can't just they don't. They're not on
social media reacting, you know, to fans and when a
guy thrown on all that's whatever the case may be,

(56:43):
they have to get the information first. I can't tell
you how many times I call the league obviously when
I said ESPN's the case of how's this going to work?
And they get They always get the video first and
they try to find out what happened and what was
he provoked, what did he do, you know, whatever the
case may be. But yeah, it's it's ugly. I mean,
you can't have that. But again, we got to get
the contact first.

Speaker 3 (57:02):
Yeah, no, Adam, I want to talk about this late
afternoon game between the Jaguars and the Broncos. I mean,
the Jacksonville Jaguars are pouring it on right now. And
I want to know one thing, Adam. Are they in
your circle of trust?

Speaker 2 (57:15):
Yet? They have to be?

Speaker 13 (57:16):
They were last week. I said, look, you can't. It
didn't look good for them early in the season, right,
Trevor Lawrence turning it over and then they're not like
a high volume passed team. But what they've done is
ways to explain to me, they've done a much better
job of getting the ball of Trevor Lawrence's hands, so
he's not overthinking that. That's really been his problem for

(57:37):
turning it over. Quarterbacks to turn it over, it sounds
like they decide they're going to throw the ball to
the other team. They're just they're not processing well. He's
processing extremely well. They haven't made a commitment to running
the ball. But the other big story is is Anthony Campinelli,
the rookie defensive coordinator for the Jaguars, who's done a
marvelous job, who should get some head of coaching consideration

(57:57):
after their seasons over. He's just done a great job.
That Jacobe Meyers trade has really worked out and they've
got a very young sheemt James Gladstone, who got the
job because of Liam Cohen who vouched for him. That's
why he's there. So it's working out. This has been
a great start considering there were Meyer situation.

Speaker 2 (58:14):
How that blew up.

Speaker 13 (58:15):
Doug Peterson comes on like the White Knight on the horse,
turns it around, then implodes and now it's only one season.
But this Liam Cone has done just a phenomenal job
to get Trevor Lawrence carried to play like he is
right now. Is hard to believe, but it's happening.

Speaker 2 (58:30):
Well, they just forced a Denver turnover as well, or
maybe it was unforced air by bo Nix in an
exchange situation, but Jacksonville recovered, so now they have the
football in Denver territory up fourteen in that contest. One
of the big headlines of the week, Adam was to
a tongue of Iloa being benched by the Miami Dolphins.
I know, when you have six wins, it doesn't appear
to be tanking, but I felt that it was. I

(58:57):
what was the thought process in now I'm not playing
to in going to Quinn yours instead of Zach Wilson.

Speaker 4 (59:04):
So that's an easy call.

Speaker 13 (59:05):
So for them, Zach Wilson was signed by the former
general manager Chris Greer. Yes, career drafted yours, but once
they knew they were eliminated from the playoff race, they
made a decision that let's take a look at yours,
who By the way, I'm tild they had a higher
grade than a seventh round pick on him. Seventh round grade,
so why not take a look at him? And I

(59:26):
could tell you though that why did they bench to him?
Like why he was the inactor third quarterback by the way,
which is even more insulting for considering their own fifty
six million next season that's fully guaranteed.

Speaker 4 (59:36):
So they were frustrated with him.

Speaker 13 (59:40):
Earlier in the season. It looked good, then he waned,
and then he got better when they turned the season around,
seemingly for like four games, but then the last few games,
it's just the mistakes. The thing with him, Dan is
he's really good in that offense, in the old school
West Coast offense. When he throws with a sense of timing,
when he holds onto the ball, that's when he gets hit.
We know about his injury, his oh, that had nothing

(01:00:01):
to do with this, so they owned the money next year.
My sense is they just got frustrated with him. And
I'll tell you what when this stuneby, when Mike McDaniel said,
when he was asked us to it, you're starting a
quarterback here for last week's loss, he said, we're looking
at everything and just the way he said, I was like, wow,
they're actually could have probably do this, and he did it,
and yeah, I mean it's look, they need a general manager.

(01:00:24):
They're kind of a train wreck and they've been cough
in purgatory for a while. They've been sort of stuck
in neutral for a number of years, and it's really
been a long time since they've been a really quality organizations.

Speaker 2 (01:00:35):
I thought this is my moone to pick is. I
just thought it was weird because once they got eliminated
from playoff competition, then they ended up making the change.
So if it truly was an indictment onto his play,
then you wouldn't have had him play the most important
game of the season where you still had playoff hopes and.

Speaker 13 (01:00:52):
I know it was a long shot. Well they don't
look at it that way though they look at it.
Let's before we're going to look at the kid, Let's
just know that we're not that it's over no pressure. Now,
you could say the opposite, but it's dan. If yours
was a second or first round pick completely different, then
you probably want him to be and at least have
some pressure. Yeah, quin yours is a major project who

(01:01:12):
had a significant jury history. That's why I dropped very far.
Who's with better mechanics as a chance to be at
least a quality backup? No, it was awful today and
Joe Burrow was simply magnificent.

Speaker 2 (01:01:24):
My boom is that I think that it's Tua is
such an easy target and it's something he's not without.

Speaker 13 (01:01:29):
Fault and not there won't be a big market. Form
could say no, no, and.

Speaker 2 (01:01:32):
It just seems like a piling on of like now's
the time. But obviously you felt good enough for him
to at least be your starter last week, you know
when I know it wasn't a pretty game in Pittsburgh
and a lot of the numbers at the end were
inflated because they were losing. But I just thought it
was an opportunity for them to do what most people do,
and that's pile on tula. And I think they did
not that opportunity.

Speaker 3 (01:01:53):
Yeah, no, no, they have for sure. But I want
to talk about a game that was a big game earlier.
And this team is so confusing to me. But right
now they lead the NFC South, the Carolina Panthers. Yeah,
they get a big win at home against the Buccaneers.
Is this a Buccaneers imploding.

Speaker 13 (01:02:09):
Thing or what it was embarrassing. They can't they cannot
claim injuries. Okay, they have three starters and I are
every other player is available for this game. Now, the
craziness of it is that as long as the Panthers
lose next week, you would think they would Seattle will
need that game. They're trying to win the division.

Speaker 2 (01:02:30):
Yep.

Speaker 13 (01:02:31):
Remember that the Bucks host the Panthers in week eighteen,
so they still have a very good, better than the
better than fifty percent chance to win the division. But yeah,
this is crazy that they've lost six out of seven.
I if that's not an emplosion, I don't know what is.
And they have a losing record at home.

Speaker 4 (01:02:47):
This is another one.

Speaker 13 (01:02:48):
This has been a very odd season. The teams that
we kind of like, by the way, the Bucks for
the Bucks for five and one at one point, wow,
carry one and look they had that great win at Seattle,
which is phenomenal. Then they beat the Niners the next week.
Uh now, now they the bad loss at Detroit. They
had a number of plots when Mike Evans broke his

(01:03:10):
collar bone, but then the loss, the loss with New
England really controlled that game and they got they got
smoked at Buffalo, their defense gave it forty four and
the RAM. Then they got their clocks clean at the Rams.
So after that, it's been absolutely downhill. They don't really
if they make it, they don't deserve it. But look,
I'm telling you, I've been telling you this since week one.
If you get in, you can make a run. Any

(01:03:31):
team is capable. I'm talking any team that makes the
playoffs is capable winning at least a couple of games,
and you never know, it's just completely wide open.

Speaker 2 (01:03:40):
I just wondered if the attrition of their offensive coordinators,
like you know, with losing them. Yeah, yeah, well you
know what you say that you say that, I know
exactly what you're going on. Some weeks it was really
really good.

Speaker 13 (01:03:53):
And then I don't. But their defense, I'm just gonna
say their defense is collapse and how. And then when
Todd went off in his press covers Todd. I know
Todd a little bit. He's airly, very mild manner. Yes, yeah,
I was shocked two weeks ago when he pointed the
fingers to the players. He's a former player. I couldn't
put no, he went wrong. Players carry you know, the

(01:04:13):
players sometimes have to do their job. Yep, but this
is a terrible imploture. Ok, you called it right there,
absolutely imploded.

Speaker 1 (01:04:18):
Here.

Speaker 2 (01:04:19):
Adam Kaplan, our NFL insider, joining us here on end
Zone Radio on Fox Sports Radio. Just to give you
a quick heads up. Jaguars have a second in goal
up fourteen on the Broncos, the Falcons up three in
the Cardinals first and goal in Arizona early in the fourth,
and the Steelers a first in goal up to on
the Lions at the Detroit eight yard line. While the
Raiders still have that one point lead over the Texans.

(01:04:42):
Montal have an update on all of those situations when
we go to her in about five minutes or so.
All right, let's get to some of the other happenings
of the NFL. I just posed this question to carry
about this Falcons Cardinals game. You take these four quarterbacks?
Did you hear me ask the question?

Speaker 10 (01:04:57):
No?

Speaker 4 (01:04:57):
No, no, But I'm interested? I said, who crazy game?

Speaker 2 (01:05:00):
Yeah? Who would you want to start a game for
you at quarterback next year? Jacoby Brissett, Kyler, Murray Kirk
Cousins or Michael Pennox Like of those four, who would
you want to be your starting quarterback. Oh, let's see.

Speaker 13 (01:05:11):
Well, if I'm trying to win next year, it wouldn't
be Penicks. He's come up to an a CEO. Okay,
car has four major injuries. By the way, carry he
said both ACL's two major shoulder issues. No, I I
but Jacoby Brissette is absolutely the best backup back. But
I'm going with Kirk Cousins.

Speaker 3 (01:05:27):
Oh wow, that's three different ones then h yeah, and
by the way, the better and better.

Speaker 2 (01:05:34):
Yeah, I went with Carrie, went with Pennix. Yah, we
all got three differcent.

Speaker 13 (01:05:38):
That's aggressive as hell. Man I've talked to he's one
of the all time great guys. Really smart, coachable. Yeah,
he's got that very odd throwing motion. He throws it
a little bit too hard. He's trouble taking something off
of it. But he's a he's a kind of guy.
If he wants to play in the league fifteen years,
trust me, he can, like Josh Johnson who's been in
the league eighteen years. Unfortunately didn't work out so well
aginst Philly.

Speaker 2 (01:05:57):
But anyway, all right, I got a final one before
we let you go. Sure I've saved this one. Uh oh,
this is on the heels of what happened Thursday night. Now,
what do we have in the NFL? The the new
overtime rules that have carried over, but now with the ten,
do you think teams may consider going for two if
they get the ball first?

Speaker 13 (01:06:19):
Well, it depends on it. Just well if you're talk
about playoffs, are you talking about it?

Speaker 2 (01:06:24):
I'm just a regular season like in the Because the
Rams score in, there's no.

Speaker 4 (01:06:28):
Question why they did it.

Speaker 13 (01:06:29):
There's no question why did it because they they knew
that because they already lost to the Rams, they had
to do it. Now a coach, it's funny, I'm I
don't think he knew that.

Speaker 2 (01:06:37):
I don't.

Speaker 13 (01:06:37):
I was texting with a coach in the game and
I really didn't want to stay up with this guy
kept texting me and I was like this, g.

Speaker 4 (01:06:45):
No, but he goes, there's he goes, it's crazy that they're.

Speaker 2 (01:06:47):
Going for it.

Speaker 13 (01:06:48):
I'm like, yeah, but I don't think you realize that
the Seahawks already lost to the Rams and Darnold turned
through four picks. If not, there's no way they're going
for it because there was over three minutes left. Because
they knew a tiz not can help them, they ready
a lot against Yes, yeah, the Ramps, so that.

Speaker 4 (01:07:01):
They did the right thing. Uh, it's situational depends.

Speaker 2 (01:07:05):
What just about the like in the Rams in this situation,
like they go down and score, they're keeping the possibility
of losing the game in the balance. You know, a team,
if they got to score a touchdown, is going to
go for it on fourth down anyway. So like so
my whole point is is that you kind of knew
the Seahawks were probably going to go for two. Yes, right,

(01:07:27):
and I think that now the advantages obviously is to kick,
but it's different than college football than starting at the
twenty five.

Speaker 13 (01:07:34):
Oho.

Speaker 2 (01:07:35):
My point is that if you're Sean mcvain the Rams
and you score a touchdown and you're up six, if
you kick a field goal, you're keeping a loss in
the equation.

Speaker 13 (01:07:42):
Well, I had not even thought at that point neither.
That's really interesting thing. So you're saying it what McVeigh
probably should have gone tried.

Speaker 2 (01:07:49):
If they go for to and get it, sure, then
there then you're not if you had to get it
you But if you feel confident enough in your offense,
which I think he probably does with Matthew Stafford, yes
you are at least taking a loss out of the
equation at that point a point.

Speaker 13 (01:08:04):
Oh, because they read it, because they already know they've
been Seahawks are ready, so they have that.

Speaker 4 (01:08:09):
Yes, yes, that's a great I'm not even fan. Want
to look. You wouldn't know.

Speaker 13 (01:08:13):
If I look at Dan, he's pretty fine.

Speaker 4 (01:08:15):
I mean, but you never know, not as far as
you know.

Speaker 2 (01:08:20):
I just I just thought about it, just be watching it, like, well.

Speaker 13 (01:08:22):
It's marvelous, dude.

Speaker 4 (01:08:24):
Why's no one ever come up with that before?

Speaker 2 (01:08:26):
Well they will and they'll get all the credit for it.
That's what's gonna end up happening. But I just think like, well,
and I think the argument is, well, I'd rather try
to stop someone in going for for two in a situation,
and that's a situation.

Speaker 13 (01:08:41):
That's what I meant about.

Speaker 2 (01:08:42):
And the other things where you're at.

Speaker 3 (01:08:43):
And the other thing about that, Adam and Dan. What
you're saying, Dan is you still got to kick extra
point and it's not a gimmey. So even if they
kicked that, you know.

Speaker 13 (01:08:51):
Well it also now okay on Carrie's point, Yes, so
you have to look at situation. What's the weather like
if you're playing out doors this game obviously, since at
all you don't know about rain. But I've seen so
many win games, windy games and cold out east. You
got to look at it. Then you get your phillies.
Kicker's been really strake, elliot, it's been struggling like crazy. Yep,

(01:09:11):
you got to look at that. So yeah, it's good stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:09:13):
Guys.

Speaker 13 (01:09:13):
There there's a lot to think about with these overtime roles.

Speaker 2 (01:09:17):
And I think, yeah, thirty seven, you know you're scoring
thirty points a game, you're more likely to do it
as opposed to a thirteen all sort of game. But
in that scenario when you know the other team's probably
going to go down and be able to score, like
I just I wonder if Sean McVay would and others
may think of that way I thought of situation. I.

Speaker 13 (01:09:37):
I have to listen if it comes up on sports
gre tomorrow, I will credit you. See you credit that.

Speaker 2 (01:09:40):
Thank you very much. And that one they responded to
like he's an idiot.

Speaker 4 (01:09:44):
No again, not as far as you know.

Speaker 2 (01:09:48):
So good Adam, thanks so much. We'll talk you. He's
Adam Kaplan, our NFL insider. All right, we've got some scores,
Manzie keeping track. I know there's still stuff to figure
out in Detroit, but we got points in Denver and
the Glendale, Arizona Manzi, what is happening?

Speaker 11 (01:10:04):
Yeah, you got that right.

Speaker 10 (01:10:05):
I feel like it's been the Steelers knocking on the
door to score for the last twenty minutes and no
so dk Metcalf was wide open in the end zone
and they called offensive pass interference, and so that's what happened.
But it's been twenty minutes and we're still in the
same spot. Steelers lead the Lines twelve to ten.

Speaker 11 (01:10:23):
They are knocking on the door.

Speaker 10 (01:10:24):
It's fourth and goal at the Trois five yard line.
They're about to start the fourth quarter. Kirk Cousins with
the little push tush rushing touchdown, and now the Falcons
are up on the Cardinals twenty six to sixteen. Also
early in the fourth quarter, the Texas have taken the lead.
They are now on top of the Raiders at home,
sixteen to fourteen with two minutes to go in the third.
And Trevor Lawrence, I apologize for all the things I

(01:10:46):
said about you, because apparently you don't just play well
against the Chargers.

Speaker 11 (01:10:50):
Apparently you play well all just all of a sudden,
and he is not. He has not skipped a be
in today's game.

Speaker 10 (01:10:56):
He's thrown for two hundred and seventy nine yards seventy
nine yards, three touchdowns. He has a rushing touchdown. The
Jaguars just got a field goal, so they've extended their
lead over the Broncos thirty four to seventeen. Is the
score still early in the fourth quarter. We've seen the
Broncos have these comeback wins, so it's not over. But
Jacksonville is up right now, thirty four to seventeen. Some
of the games that wrapped up earlier today, like the Chargers,

(01:11:18):
they are now eleven and four. They outscored the Cowboys
thirty four to seventeen. The Bills also improved to eleven
and four. It wasn't pretty, but they defeated the Browns
twenty three to twenty. Panthers with the last minute interception,
top the Buccaneers twenty three to twenty, so they're at
the top of the Division four and now next week
Carolina faces the Seahawks, while Tampa Bay faces the Dolphins,
and then they'll see each other once again. In men's

(01:11:40):
college hoops, there are some teams that are still undefeated,
like number four Iowa State undefeated and right now they're
on top of Long Beach State forty eight to thirteen
late in the first half, and Vanderbilt is still undefeated
at twelve to zero. They took down wake Forest thirteenth
rank Vanderbilt ninety eight to sixty seven and number two
Michigan also stays undefeated in men's college hoops eleven and zero.

(01:12:02):
They crush lassal is that what I heard about Salah?
That says las saye, It says last sa yea. It
was only a famous explorer, that is okay, But the
way and reads it's a lasa.

Speaker 11 (01:12:14):
Yet one of two to fifty is the final score.

Speaker 4 (01:12:17):
There.

Speaker 11 (01:12:18):
There are some NBA games going on. The Bulls.

Speaker 10 (01:12:21):
They survived against the Hawks one fifty two to one fifty.
Nobody played defense the heat on top of the next
forty one thirty six still early in the second quarter,
just like the Raptors and the Nets where the nets
are up twenty four to twenty one.

Speaker 11 (01:12:34):
And to add more insult to injury with my clippers,
I beats.

Speaker 10 (01:12:38):
Zubats will miss several weeks due to a Grade two
left ankle sprain.

Speaker 11 (01:12:42):
But we beat the Lakers. Yeah, yeah, seven wins, Baby,
let's go back to you.

Speaker 3 (01:12:48):
That's ridiculous. It's so is that right, man, it's so
funny when she said it wasn't pretty. That's that's the
I think that's the Bill's new name. It's not Buffalo Bills.
It's just it wasn't pretty.

Speaker 2 (01:13:00):
But they keep winning. But they won, they keep winning.
I'll tell you what. Our producer Shay brought up a
question that both Kerry and I blatantly dismissed a couple
of weeks ago. All right, and it was a question
of who's the who's the better Buffalo Bill? Was that
the question? Share? Or was it who's the most the
best player on the Bills? Yeah, who's the best player

(01:13:22):
on the Bills. And there's only two candidates. There's only
two candidates. Sorry at Oliver, Sorry sorry Dalton Kin cad
or anybody else. It was Josh Allen or James Cook.
And today in a game against Cleveland, the James Cook faction,
who was not Carrie and High had a lot more
ammunition to that conversation. Interesting, did it change your mind

(01:13:45):
at all?

Speaker 3 (01:13:45):
It didn't change my mind as far as who's the
best player on that team. But it also shows that
you can have two people that are very important to
a team and they could take turns right, Like today
wasn't Josh Allen's day, it was Cook's day today. Josh
Allen didn't have a lot of yards passing today, didn't
make a lot of impact plays. He has some impact plays.

(01:14:07):
He's always going to have that. But Cook was the
guy today. And so when you bring up that question
in this season, we know how important Cookie is going
to be to them.

Speaker 2 (01:14:17):
Being able to win. Yes, and so it's it's a
fair question when you think of it that way. In
my mind, there's just so much value on the quarterback position,
and when you have someone with the extreme talents of
Josh Allen. Many people feel that Matthew Stafford won the
MVP on Thursday night in a loss, kind of wrapped
it up. Josh Allen today didn't counter with an argument.

(01:14:37):
But I mean, they they got all they could handle
from the Browns today, but they got the win and
for the for the Buffalo's most important, but they are
most dangerous when it's James Cook running a football scale from.

Speaker 3 (01:14:50):
One to one hundred, one hundred being the most valuable.
How would you equate those two. Well, James Cook can't
do what he does without without Josh Allen Underson because
he is such a threat. Like you think that goes
both ways though, Yes, but I think.

Speaker 2 (01:15:06):
That Josh Allen. If Josh Allen didn't play, the Bills
have no chance to win. James Cook doesn't play, the
Bill still have a chance to win. That's how it.
Can you doze it? Yes, this year, you think that's
the case. You know how much I love James Ye, yeah,
for sure, Yes, but I think that that is the case.
It's also a comment on the quarterback position in the

(01:15:27):
National Football League and just how much it means. Yeah,
I mean just you're not gonna like Josh Allen is
such a such a threat in so many different ways
that he's just he's always got the attention. Anyway, As
we move on, Jacoby Brissett just sacked on a thirty six,
so the Falcons are having a good time up ten.
The Steelers kicked the field goal, so it's fifteen to ten.

(01:15:48):
Raiders have the football trying to get cross midfield, trailing
those Texans by two, and the Broncos settle for a
field goal, so it's thirty four. To twenty Jacksonville on
top of Denver, and Detroit's got the ball down five
in the fourth quarter to the Steelers. He's carry Roads.
I'm Dan Byer. I look at your fantasy missus. Next
on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (01:16:07):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 8 (01:16:12):
Falcons and Cardinals.

Speaker 1 (01:16:13):
Here's Cousins trying to sneak for it into the stock.

Speaker 8 (01:16:16):
He goes, now, we got to bring a man, make
call for the touchdown.

Speaker 1 (01:16:20):
Hurt Cousin's a rushing score.

Speaker 2 (01:16:23):
Dang, you know who things this? On Dan Fish the
cuffs On the twelfth day of Christmas, Dan and Kerry
came to blows. There's just one Carrie would knock me
out cold that it would just there wouldn't be multiple,
there would just be one. Don't tell yourself sort of
and you might guess me. You might cass me said,
I've never gotten a fight before in my life. Knock

(01:16:46):
on wood and if I did, I definitely would lose it.
I would not win the physical altercation. At ninety two
point nine of the game Falcons Radio network, it is
end Zone Radio here on Fox Sports Radio, he is
carry Roads. I'm Dan Byer. Falcons up ten to go
for it against the Cardinals fourth and one, at least
it appears that way now they're going to just punt
it away. It looks like the Falcons playing it safe.

(01:17:08):
They could go. The Cardinals are bagged up a bunch
of guys in and out of the lineup today. But
Atlanta's gonna punt it away that game, maybe not in
the balance. Different story with the Texans up on the
Raiders sixteen to fourteen and Pittsburgh holding on to that
fifteen to ten lead in Detroit two minutes gone by
in the second quarter, the Jaguars, well, they're up thirty

(01:17:29):
four to twenty, but Denver's got the football right now, Yes,
the eight thirty in counting. Denver's got it with a
second and two and they're already in the hurry up offense.
And just as you and Manzi were talking about, you
can't count out Denver for what they've done in the past.
And the Jaguars have blown some leads. They blew an
off a lead against the Texans earlier in the year.
The graphic came up fourth quarter scoring Denver second to

(01:17:50):
the NFL this year, up plus fifty four the Jaguars
plus fifty four point differential Jaguars minus twenty seven. That's
twenty fifth in the NFL. So Denver getting it done
in the fourth quarter, and the Jaguars have been unable
to close some of these games out.

Speaker 3 (01:18:04):
So you're telling me Denver has Jacksonville right what they
want them. That's kind of what we're talking about right now.
They kick the field goal, they got the quick stop,
and now on the move again.

Speaker 2 (01:18:14):
So exactly. Jalen Warrens in the end zone, big touchdown
run for the Steelers. Let's go over to Manza Belanials
for some fantasy misses. Sorry, Manzi, I took up some
of your time when you got our missus, you're good.

Speaker 11 (01:18:29):
I'm going to start with the quarterback that was a
huge miss for me.

Speaker 10 (01:18:32):
Josh Allen today. Six Does he not know it's fantasy playoffs?

Speaker 2 (01:18:36):
Right?

Speaker 6 (01:18:36):
Does he?

Speaker 11 (01:18:36):
Is he unaware?

Speaker 13 (01:18:38):
Not?

Speaker 11 (01:18:38):
Six points? Six points? He threw for one hundred and
thirty yards.

Speaker 10 (01:18:42):
You know we also got six points rookie Quinn yours,
So no bueno, Josh Allen.

Speaker 11 (01:18:45):
Also no bueno Jackson Dart. He either gave you zero
or maybe minus because he threw for thirty three yards
in an interception and with Sacriphion.

Speaker 1 (01:18:53):
The whole time out.

Speaker 2 (01:18:53):
He only threw thirty three yards.

Speaker 3 (01:18:55):
Yes, yes, yeah, I thinks that's seven completions, and the.

Speaker 10 (01:18:58):
First completion came with one to go in the first half.
It was not good, and then he was sacked five times.
So like you lose points like that, you could end
up with zero or you ended up with minus. Wide
receivers Xavier Worthy did not have a good time today.
Six points, just two catches for forty one yards. Also
a Mecca Buca five points, one catch for forty yards.

(01:19:18):
If you played any running back that was on the
Tampa Bay roster, you had a rough night, all three
of them. Bucky Irving seven points, nineteen carries seventy one yards,
Rashawan White seven points, five carries forty five yards, Sean
Tucker six points, four carries.

Speaker 11 (01:19:32):
For three yards and a touchdown. No, those are just
some of the fantasy misses of the day.

Speaker 2 (01:19:38):
Back to you, the lines have been missing throughout the
entire game. The defense just missed Jalen Warren forty five
yard touchdown run extra point. The Steelers, Yeah, made the
extra point, so it's dowently two to ten in that contest.

Speaker 3 (01:19:54):
Bow Knicks just the an interception in that Jacksonville Dember game. Yeah,
we said Dember was on the move trying to go
down and make this game closer. And bo Nix says,
do a big pick, And I know the Falcons Cardinals
game is basically over. But it's not now because the Falcons.
Remember I told you they're trying to get the Cardinals
to jump off sides.

Speaker 2 (01:20:14):
Yeah, well they called time out and then they went
for it, and then kirk Cousins it wasn't entirely his fault.
There was miscommunication. He ends up fumbling the football on
an attempted handoff to Tyler Aljeer. The ball doesn't matter.
Kirk Cousins would have to recover it if he fumbled
it anyway and get the first down because it was
a fourth down. But the Cardinals are going to take

(01:20:34):
over at midfield now in a ten point game, just
punt it away if you're Atlanta, right, oh man, right
in that scenario. And so now the yeah, so the Falcons.
So it's not over yet. There is life for the
red Birds against the Blackbirds in Arizona. Here's Carrier Roads.
I'm Dan Byer. It is end Zone Radio. We'll bring
you the conclusion of these four games, plus a wacky

(01:20:56):
trade that never happened in the NFL and maybe it
should have. That's next year on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (01:21:03):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (01:21:06):
All right, we're getting down to the nitty gritty here
in Week sixteen. Four games going on, some separation taking
place in Houston, it appears their separation in Detroit, but
the Lions are trying to get back in it down
against these Steelers Cardinals. You heard Monty just say, mane
it a one score game with the Falcons twenty six, nineteen,

(01:21:27):
And yeah, it looks like that winning streak that we've
talked about throughout the show and Moncik new was gonna
come to an end today is about three minutes away
from doing so. Jacksonville about to get a huge win
in Denver. You look at Jacksonville's resume and what they've
done this season. The win against the Chiefs on Monday
Night Football earlier in the year. Maybe not as impressive
considering what happened with Kansas City, but still it's a

(01:21:51):
win against the Chiefs when we thought and expected a
lot from them, and win against the Chargers. They've had
like Jacksonville has had some solid, solid wins. Seattle went
to Jacksonville ended up getting a win earlier this season,
and Rams kind of took it to the Jaguars. But
they've had they've had the good quality of This was
an NCAA tournament committee. You look at the Jaguars Jaguars

(01:22:14):
resume and say like, all right, yeah, this is these
are all good wins. These are quad one wins for
Jacksonville exactly. That's a good point.

Speaker 3 (01:22:21):
No, Jacksonville is one of those teams that a lot
of people are you know, still on the fence about.
Even Monsie talked about it earlier, right, like, you know,
didn't think don't didn't think too highly of them or
this is a question Dan, So like, out of all
these teams, I think all of us will say there
are certain things about them that we don't trust, right.

(01:22:42):
I think that's probably safe they say about every team, yes,
But with Jacksonville, the crazy part about them in their
scenario is the person that we didn't trust the most
is playing the best for them right now, and that's
Trevor Lawrence. You know, we always put emphasis on the
quarterback play with all these teams, but with Lawrence, and
you know the lore that he had coming out of

(01:23:03):
college and come into the league. People thought he was
the next whoever, whoever the best quarterback would be or
could be. And he's had some good moments, but a
lot of down moments. But right now he's in one
of those trends where he looks like he's really good
and I'm starting to trust this team.

Speaker 2 (01:23:17):
Still, home field advantage for the Jaguars throughout the AFC
playoffs is not out of the question. The other thing
with Jacksonville, they're going to be redoing their stadium in
I think it's over the next I think it starts
after this season, so they're gonna end up I believe
playing games in Orlando for their home game at Disney
World at the Camping at the Camping Worlds State that

(01:23:41):
they have in Orlando over to the Citrus Ball I
believe that's the sponsor name to it. But because they're building,
they're upgrading the stadium, basically redoing the whole thing on
the site, so they need to look for a new home.
This may be like their best opportunity and considering in
the next couple of years, where you're now going to
be at a market that isn't even your home market,

(01:24:03):
and this may be the time to cash in, you know,
strike while the iron's hot, is the old saying. And
it's also the point of when you look at windows
of teams, the window is always a year earlier than
you thought. And I always go back to my Seahawks
and looking at where the Seahawks were when they won
Super Bowl forty eight and then lost the next year
to the Patriots. The next year they ended up losing

(01:24:26):
a game to the Carolina Panthers where Carolina went to
Super Bowl fifty in that great season, and while the
Seahawks were dominated in the first half, they came back
and made a game of it. It was the year
prior when they lost so the Falcons who ended up
going to the NFC Championship Game and losing to the Niners.
But that was Russell Wilson's rookie year, and you looked
at that year as like, oh, this is the start

(01:24:48):
of things to come. And it was, but you didn't
look at it as part of your window. And that
window right now is now and it's always now. So
if you're Jacksonville and you have an opportunity to do it,
especially for a franchise it's never been to a super Bowl.
Considering what's ahead, it's probably not going to be easy
the next couple of years. So hopefully for them they

(01:25:08):
can cash in on their success this year. Yeah, no,
I mean this this team has been We've said it, right.

Speaker 3 (01:25:13):
They had a moment, like a flash in the pan
moment with Doug Peterson at the helm, and you know
they had to success and went to the playoffs and
obviously didn't get it done. But then you said it,
like the window is opened then, right, But then the
next couple of years that thing falls off really quickly,
and then then that coach is fired, then a new
coach and starts a new window in that Right now,

(01:25:34):
I mean this is year one. The window is wide
open and similar to your Seahawks, nobody expected them to
probably be in this exact position.

Speaker 2 (01:25:42):
But here they are. The lines are in the end zone.
Jared Goff has just hit Kliffe Raymond for a touchdown
on a fourth and two. So now we've got we've
got a whole new ball game. Twenty seven yard touchdown
pass and catch for Golf to Raymond. So it's going
to make it a twenty two to sixteen game and
Detroit going on to kick the extra point to make
it a five point contest. There's still eight thirty nine

(01:26:04):
left to go in the game. And what are you
pointing out? The Raiders scored again. The Raiders are in
the end zone twenty three to twenty one. Oh my goodness,
and I'm watching the Falcons trying to work the clock
here against Arizona. The Raiders get into the end zone
courtesy of Ashton genty fifty one yard touchdown rush. So
he's got a touchdown reception and a touchdown run from

(01:26:27):
significant distance. The touchdown catch was from sixty yards out.
So Ashton Genty having to day cashing in today against
the defense that you never would have expected I would
be giving up those sort of plays right well, and
this one and the Broncos won as well with Zaza Bill.
I mean, that's a lot of points given up by
Denver's defense as well. The Texans have a short week,
They've got the Chargers coming. They go to face the

(01:26:49):
Chargers on Saturday, and then they have the Colts at
the end of the season. But this is not the
game that you want to play with your food and
right now, he just failed and CJ. Strouds, Yeah, I
got a tough time. I'll tell you maybe what we
can do because the Broncos just turned it over on down.
So there's only two minutes left. Yeah, if we could
put Texans Raiders where Broncos Jaguars is because that one's

(01:27:11):
basically over. Denver does have all three of their timeouts,
but it's a fourteen point deficit to twelve left to go,
So we'll keep our eye on what's happening in Houston.
And now the Texans are facing a second down in
twenty one after a fumbled snap that CJ. Stroud was
able to recover. Could have been much worse for Houston
in that scenario.

Speaker 3 (01:27:29):
Yeah, these are the games. And obviously I don't like
to say I don't like that. Where the trap game?
I think we talk about it quite a bit, but
I mean this is a prime one right here. You
plan the worst team in football and then you got
a big Thursday night show down with the talks coming up.

Speaker 2 (01:27:44):
That's the definition of it right there. The Falcons and
Cardinals aren't going anywhere, and the Falcons syst didn't go
anywhere on a fourth and one, So two h five
left to go fourth and one from the thirty nine
yard line. Instead of kicking a long field goal or
even punting it, they decided to hand it off to
Tyler l Gear And now up seven, Arizona's gonna get

(01:28:05):
the football at around their own forty yard line, so
sixty yards to go, and the Cardinals have some life.
And so we've got the Lions within five, the Cardinals
with the football within seven, and the Raiders trying to
get a stop within two against the Texans.

Speaker 3 (01:28:21):
Man we end up getting blessed all the time over here.
We always think somebody these games are going to just
be like, ah, a little just kind of blah, But
then these games end up being really.

Speaker 2 (01:28:30):
Tight down the stretch. So it's crazy. What I love
about this, and we're going to get this on the
Christmas Day schedule is leaving a lot to be desired
in the National Football League. The games coming up on
Christmas Day just did not rise to the occasion that
the NFL would have hoped. You have the Cowboys at
the Commander's Lions at the Vikings in Denvers at Kansas City.

(01:28:52):
Oh my god. So the Chiefs on a third string
quarterback with the Gardner Minshew injury today and the season
over for both the Cowboys and Commanders, that game doesn't
bring a whole lot of interest. If the Lions don't
pull this out and they're really climbing uphill to have

(01:29:13):
any hope of the of the postseason, they would need
everything to go their way to be able to make it.
And like, that's that's what we would get on a
Christmas Day game still will probably outrate the NBA because
of the popularity of the National Football League, but yeah,
that would They won't have my eyeballs, Dan, No, they won't.
You are in No, No, he'll be on the He'll
be on the hoop. Yeah, that's that's for sure. But

(01:29:35):
these games it's great. It's great to see the Falcons
and Cardinals going at it because, again, I know the
Dolphins situation. I don't mean to harp on this so much.
It seems pretty basic on the outside of let's just
turn it over to Quinn yours. But Jack Wilson was
kind of like, yeah, I'm kind of questioning what this
is all about. I was been the backup all year

(01:29:56):
and you obviously want to move on from two up.
But I just felt that they piled onto the narrative
of Tua being the problem, and when they needed to
win a game on Monday night, Tua was their starting quarterback.
Then when they were eliminated from the postseason, obviously you're
moving on to the next year. That all makes sense,
but it felt like it was conveniently done at to
his expense, that Tua was the problem with it. And

(01:30:18):
so you have teams that, you know, Dolphins got run
off the field by the Bengals today, and it's to
be expected. Very few seventh round picks can come in
and perform like Brock Berdy did, right, and so so
in a game like where Cincinnati's defense is one of
the worst, still you have some troubles against the defense
like that in Cincinnati's offense is you know, really good

(01:30:40):
despite their struggles, and you just end up having this
sort of day that they had today. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:30:43):
No, this definitely was expected at this point once they
were eliminated the other day and they made that change.
I would have put all my money if I was
a real betting man on Cincinnati to win this game.

Speaker 2 (01:30:56):
Sure, yeah, and then they came through big time. So
what's happening now? The Techs just got a first down,
there's two twenty seven left to go. Raiders have two
timeouts left, so they'll be able to stop it at
the two minute warning and also with their two timeouts
as the Texans are near midfield. Gino Smith returning this
game with a sort of blank stare on his face.

(01:31:19):
Eight Gays, we all have been there, right, You just
kind of stare off. You're locked in on something, you're daydreaming.
It happens the Cardinals with a football now facing a
second and five at the two minute warning. They've got
one timeout down seven to Atlanta. The Jaguars just trying
to work the clock Denver again with all three timeouts,
but it is a scenario where the Jaguars are up

(01:31:41):
thirty four to twenty with a minute fifty four to go.
And this is the situation in Detroit, Steelers on top
of the lines twenty two to seventeen. Pittsburgh backed up
ten yards after a penalty, so it's first and twenty
from their own thirty five yard line again in a
five point game with seven thirty two left to go,
Steelers certainly have one time out left in this one.

(01:32:02):
Lions end up having two, so Pittsburgh just connecting with
DK Metcalf Aaron Rodgers did on a pass for about
twenty yards. Looked like you got to the stick. So
it'll be first and ten for the Steelers as they
move down the field.

Speaker 3 (01:32:15):
Yeah, Aaron just threw a beautiful backshoder ball to a
DK for the first down here in this game. This
game's I mean, they're going to have to be aggressliven
try to end this game. They can't sit back and
try and run it or waiteclock or do any of that.
They got to go be aggresslive and try to win
this game. If I'm the Steelers.

Speaker 2 (01:32:30):

Jalen Warren has just broken free and he's on his
way to the end zone. Wow, that was quick. That

(01:32:53):
was very quick. The Steelers have extended their lead back
up on the Detroit Lions twenty eight to seventeen. Extra
point coming up Jalen Warren's second big play, So Detroit
now gonna need a lot more to get and the
Cardinals just converted on a third and long, Dan, I
know what you're gonna say.

Speaker 3 (01:33:12):
I'm gonna throw it out there anyway, though, when Arizona
score is it's tests down and McBride catches it, do
they go for two?

Speaker 4 (01:33:18):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (01:33:19):
They have to, right, this game is meaningless except oh my,
except Jacoby Brissett. And they have just thrown a game
ending interception a chink stuff that's the jinks.

Speaker 3 (01:33:30):
Oh my goodness, that that is the didn't even see it.

Speaker 2 (01:33:34):
I Jacoby Brissett, after one play of getting a first
down on a third and long ends up turning it over.
So it looks like the Falcons will fly out of Arizona.
Cardinals to have just one time out left, Kirk Cousin
can Kirk Cousins can take a knee, and Atlanta looks
like they're gonna get a victory. As for what's happening
in Houston, we won't leave until we tell you what

(01:33:55):
is going on there. Two minute warning, twenty three to
twenty one. Raiders are out of timeout. Texans are going
to be facing a third and eight, and there's an
injury on the field. So we'll tell you how the
Texans come out of it. On the backside, that interception,
it's in question. It is being reviewed. It's just a
matter of if the player was in bounds when they

(01:34:16):
caught the interception. We'll tell you what the review says.
Plus Carry has a breakdown from possibly the biggest play
of Week sixteen. Will let you be the judge. He's
Carry Rhodes. I'm Dan Byer. That's all next year on
end Zone Radio.

Speaker 6 (01:34:28):
Steelers and Lions Jayalen Warren who gets the handoff left side,
cuts back to the right, now cuts back to the
left again, gets to.

Speaker 14 (01:34:34):
The edge of the forty the thirty the twenty, the
ten touchdown jel and.

Speaker 8 (01:34:39):
Warren another forty five.

Speaker 4 (01:34:42):
Yard touchdown for a Pittsburgh Steelers score.

Speaker 8 (01:34:45):
Back to Dan Byer and Carry Rhoades.

Speaker 2 (01:34:48):
At the time, it gave Pittsburgh an ice cushion of
twenty nine is seventeen after the extra point was made.
That cushion not as soft right now. That's because the
Lions have just scored Jamiir Gibbs a four yard touchdown
reception on the pass from Jared Goff. Extra point is good,
So it's twenty nine to twenty four with four to
eleven left to go in Detroit, Steelers on top of

(01:35:09):
the Lions. Lions do have two timeouts remaining in this contest,
but it's really gonna be up on the shoulders of
Aaron Rodgers to be able to get a couple of
first downs, move the chains and have these Steelers end
up getting a victory here.

Speaker 3 (01:35:23):
Yeah, I mean, the Lions won't go away, but as
we've seen in this second half here, Detroy's defense has been,
you know, pretty much non existing. So for them to
get a stop here, it's going to take everything they
have and somebody's gonna have to make a big play.

Speaker 2 (01:35:37):
So the games in Houston and Arizona are over with
the Texans beat the Raiders twenty three to twenty one.
Houston able to convert on a third and eight with
the pass play to Nico Collins. There was some question
on whether he was inbounds or out of bounds, whether
he made the catch he did. Raiders didn't have any
more timeouts after using them on the previous plays. So

(01:36:00):
the Texans took a knee and left with a two
point victory. What just happened in Denver is not going
to matter on the scoreboard, but it was a scary
situation as Patrick Bryant of the Broncos was just carted
off the field after a significant hit. There's just twenty
seconds in counting, and in fact, the clock is going
to continue to run as the coaches are now going

(01:36:22):
across the field to shake hands. But yeah, Pat Bryant
needed to be carted off after it was a clean hit. Carry.
It's just you know, it's better than anybody just in
garbage time, a ball that maybe got a little bit
too high came across and needed to be helped off
via stretcher. So that would ended up delaying the end

(01:36:43):
of the game. But the Jaguars just got a thirty
four to twenty win against the Broncos.

Speaker 3 (01:36:46):
Yeah, hate those situations obviously. You know you played to
the last west, so to the final play, that whole
deal it does. That does resonate with me, it always has.
But that game's over. It's new down fourteen. You said,
twenty seconds left. Man, take a knee and get out
of there Man.

Speaker 2 (01:37:01):
Yeah. Absolutely. And then that Falcons Cardinals game, the interception
we told you about from CJ. Henderson was reviewed and
Henderson was wearing a Guardian cap, and you wondered if
he got the interception before the enormous helmet touched out
of bounds. After review, they said that the interception was good,
so the Falcons could take a knee, But the big
Guardian hat may have been a reason on why that

(01:37:24):
could have been overturned.

Speaker 3 (01:37:26):
Yeah, Like the Guardian cap. I mean the thing, it's
so big, it kind of it blocked out. It shaded
out the sidelines so we couldn't see exactly where it was.

Speaker 2 (01:37:36):
So they got a good angle, Dan, they got a
good angle. I gave you a theory. Jalen Petrie of
the Texans also wears the cap. Yeah, And not to
make light of the issue, I just think that it
may give Jalen Petree more confidence to make physical hits
in that scenario. As someone who's played that position. You're
not a fan of the Guardian cap as it is,

(01:37:58):
and I'll let you say the reasons why, but I
just I wonder if it gave him some added confidence
to be able to make plays because there is that. Actually,
we've seen Jalen Petrie with some big plays in the
hit game this year.

Speaker 3 (01:38:13):
Yeah, I think Petrie's probably already had that in them.
But you're right, Dan, like, if somebody feels confident about something,
they're gonna go a little bit harder, a little bit faster,
a little bit quick like. So for him in that instance,
you might be, you might be onto something. But my
mind tells me that that's not protecting much. And I
think with the league saying, you know, this thing is

(01:38:34):
a little bit safer, we don't know what that percentage
is that we talked about it off air, right, it
can be zero point one percent, but that point one
percent makes it safer. So if he feels that way, yeah,
But for me, I definitely wouldn't wear it because I'm
a little vain. So I wouldn't wear it for that sure,
for that reason, because you got to look good to
play good. That's been the whole thing that does not
look good at all. So he's the outlier, Dan, He's

(01:38:58):
looking bad but playing good.

Speaker 2 (01:38:59):
So you vain carry ROAs Okay. The Steelers got a
first down on a run from John ou Smith. Their
tight end John Neu Smith stayed in bounds, which allowed
the clock to run to take it down to about
three twenty or so. Detroit did not use the time out.
Pittsburgh on the next play used a little boot action
with Aaron Rodgers, who at Darnell Washington. The problem with

(01:39:22):
Washington's play he was short of the sticks. If you
just would have went down and ben and bounds, it
would have been about a second down and four. He
tried to fight for a first down, which put him
closer and closer to the sidelines where he was ultimately
pushed out of bounds. And that doesn't do a whole
lot for the Steelers except on that particular play it
maybe took about ten seconds off the clock. But now

(01:39:44):
they've got it a little bit closer. So if you
do kick a field goal, it would be an eight
point game. But ultimately Pittsburgh here I think just wants
to figure out a way to get a couple of
first downs and run out the clock. I don't think
that they want to kick a field goal and have
to put their defense back out on the correct dan
right now, I'm not worried about points at this moment.
You want to milk out these last three minutes and

(01:40:06):
get a couple of first downs and take a knee.
That would be the best, the best, the best bet.
And now there's a penalty and John Neu Smith went
out of bounds on about a nine yard run, so
they're making this interesting and it's going to be a
hold on the defense. Wow, you don't see that a
lot on running plays. Why why is he getting so

(01:40:26):
many carries right now? Is Warren just took a six
fifty yard touchdowns in hell? Didn't. You don't see a
lot of Harold fannin for the Browns scored a touchdown
on a run today. You usually don't see the head
and used in the running game. But John Smith has
been a bit of a Swiss Army knife throughout his
career and getting the opportunities. Not only have Geleen Warren,
you al said Kenneth Gainwell with the big catch earlier

(01:40:48):
today exactly, but the Steelers going going a different route,
so it'll be a first and ten the lines though
if not had to use any of their timeouts in
this situation, and in fact, if I'm the Lions, I'm
probably committing more penalties so you can get the football back,
because then Pittsburgh wouldn't be able to run out the clock.
They got it first down and ten at the twenty

(01:41:09):
yard line here, and now Kenneth Gainwell, who we just
talked about getting into the game, ends up getting stuffed
for no game.

Speaker 3 (01:41:18):
I should have gave to John WI Smith that time, right,
having success, have success, why you go away from the
tight end.

Speaker 2 (01:41:26):
On the running game. But this is this is true
if you're Detroit here, and I mean this.

Speaker 8 (01:41:32):
If this.

Speaker 2 (01:41:34):
So, Detroit is not using their timeouts, and it's so
they're gonna let the clock run. It's second down to eleven.
They have two timeouts left and the two minute warning.
Pittsburgh here does not want to get a first down
on this play. They want to bring it up to
at least third down and then get their first down.
They ran a play to Kenneth Gainwell and he got

(01:41:55):
about three yards. So now it's going to be third
and seven and it's going to be up to the Lions,
and the Lions do use their timeout, yes at that situation.
So now, but this is what this does carry. So now,
if you're Pittsburgh in this situation, you can have Aaron
Rodgers throw the football. Yes, because it's third down and seven,

(01:42:16):
Detroit's got a timeout and there's the two minute warning,
so running the ball here would only take fifteen minutes
at the most off the clock, you might as well
try to get the first down with the arm of
Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 3 (01:42:27):
Fifteen seconds, Dan, But yeah, you're you're one hundred percent right,
I think I I question. I don't know if I
questioned it or not. I think it's it's up to
the coach and what their decision on time is. But
taking that time, taking that time out earlier after that
first time, what do you feel about that? That the
use of time out here? So when so they took

(01:42:47):
it at because it was like three minutes left still
and it just kept running down.

Speaker 2 (01:42:50):
Yeah, Yeah, I'd like to use it at the full
forty like so so if it's if it's under two
minutes and forty seconds, I would rather just let it
run down to the two minute warning. You will, yeah,
because but other players do it a different way. And
on the third down and eight, Rogers just throws one
up and after getting pressured and throws it out of

(01:43:12):
the side of the end zone. There was a receiver,
so there wouldn't be any grounding. But Chris Boswell is
going to come on for a field goal attempt, and
if he makes it, it's an eight point game, and
Jared Goff and the lines will get the football with
a chance to possibly tie this game up. Yep, Detroit
got a mixed I mean they got to stop. They
need it.

Speaker 3 (01:43:31):
They were actually able to even save a time out here,
so they're in good shape.

Speaker 2 (01:43:36):
We'll let you know what Chris Boswell does after I
tell you. If you missed any of today's show, you

(01:43:58):
in Detroit, which is playing the Boswell kick, So we're
going to go right to the news desk. Manzi Blanial
is giving us an update of all the other action
that's going on in the NFL and other places on
this Sunday.

Speaker 10 (01:44:09):
Hello Monzi, Hi, guys, Yeah, who would have thought that
this game in Detroit was gonna look like this by
the end of it, with the Steelers up twenty nine
to twenty four and the Lions trying to come back
and make something out of the final two minutes. But
if the Steelers do get a kick and they do
make it, they would extend their lead to eight. So
the Lions, it's not gonna be an easy task. But

(01:44:29):
there's about two minutes and fifteen seconds to go. The
latest touchdown for Detroit was a Junior Gibbs touchdown. That's
his forty eighth career touchdown, which broke a tie with
Barry Sanders for the most in NFL history by a
player before turning twenty four.

Speaker 11 (01:44:44):
Wow, he's a baby, He's a baby.

Speaker 2 (01:44:46):
He's not even twenty four yet.

Speaker 11 (01:44:48):
Yeah, not even twenty four year.

Speaker 2 (01:44:49):
Oswell, just missed the kick. He missed the kick. No really,
wow there oh.

Speaker 11 (01:44:57):
One, that's just yeah. You just are giving it to Detroit.
How at that point?

Speaker 2 (01:45:01):
How many yards was that?

Speaker 11 (01:45:03):
Thirty seven?

Speaker 8 (01:45:04):
Oh?

Speaker 11 (01:45:04):
Thirty seven and it hit the right.

Speaker 3 (01:45:06):
Upright and indoors too, not even no, no, no, no, no, no,
no no no.

Speaker 10 (01:45:11):
The Falcons did top the Cardinals already twenty six to nineteen,
where Kirk Cousins threw for one hundred and ninety seven
yards two touchdowns.

Speaker 11 (01:45:18):
He had an interception, but also a rushing touchdown. And
it's been Trevor.

Speaker 10 (01:45:22):
Lawrence really the past four weeks. I think he's had
fourteen touchdowns zero interceptions. In today's game, he threw for
two hundred and seventy nine yards three touchdowns. He also
had a rushing touchdown. More importantly, the Jaguars improved to
eleven and four, snapping the Broncos eleven game winning streak.
Coming out on top thirty four to twenty, Jacksonville has
a path to be the number one seed after this.

Speaker 11 (01:45:45):
Other things have to happen, yes, but there is a
path for them. Who would have thought? Who would have thought?
Did I say, Trevor Lawrence? I'm sorry, I'm say it
again summertime? I thought you only played well against the Chargers?

Speaker 3 (01:45:55):
My bad, my bad?

Speaker 11 (01:45:56):
What happened earlier?

Speaker 4 (01:45:57):
Today?

Speaker 11 (01:45:57):
Will the sains Cruise passed the Jets twenty nine to six.

Speaker 10 (01:46:00):
Sub Jets of the first team in NFL history to
not have an interception in fifteen consecutive games. So Carrie
Rhodes is gonna suit up for them next week. The
Titans crushed the Chiefs twenty six to nine. They believe
Gardner Minshew tore his acl in today's game, so not
another situation for the Chiefs. Vikings top the Giants sixteenth
to thirteen. The Bengals crushed the Dolphins forty five to

(01:46:21):
twenty one, and Joe Burrow said that that was fun.
Just in case you're wondering, the Chargers outscored the Cowboys
thirty four to seventeen. Justin Herbert threw for three hundred
yards and two touchdowns. The Bills improved to eleven and four,
And we said it earlier, but it really was not pretty,
and they still beat the Browns twenty three to twenty.
Quinshawn Judkins, the rookie for Cleveland, suffered a dislocated ankle

(01:46:42):
and broken fibula.

Speaker 11 (01:46:43):
He will have surgery. He has done for the year.

Speaker 10 (01:46:45):
The Panthers, with the last minute interception, top the Buccaneers
twenty three to twenty.

Speaker 11 (01:46:50):
So right now Carolina is at the top of their division.

Speaker 10 (01:46:53):
But it's not you know for sure yet, because next
week they face the Seahawks, Tampa Bay faces the Dolphins,
and then they'll see each other again in the final
week of the season. Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter and
offensive tackle Lane Johnson are both expected to be back
next week for Philadelphia, just in time to play the Bills.

Speaker 11 (01:47:11):
And in the NBA, we've got some games going on.
The Knicks right now do lead the he eighty two
to seventy six.

Speaker 10 (01:47:16):
Halfway through the third quarter and still early in the first,
but the Wizards are on top of the Spurs twenty
two to twenty.

Speaker 2 (01:47:22):
Back to you guys, thank you very much, Yes, MONSI
it is end Zone Radio on Fox Sports Radio. A
week sixteen, two minute warning. Jamiir Gibbs got to carry
on the other side of it, was dropped for a
loss by Jalen Ramsey. So it'll be second down at
about thirteen for the Lions, but touchdown wins it for him.

(01:47:43):
The Steelers kind of botched that whole scenario. I don't
think that they ever wanted to kick a field goal.
I think that Darnold Washington going out of bounds, they
got a first down, they move the ball too quickly
into in the Lion's territory. Nice to have the field goal,
maybe as a little bit of insurance, but I think
ultimately they would have just wanted to take the four
minutes off the clock on a drive and leave and

(01:48:04):
never have to kick a field goal or give the
ball back. Yep, but those are some of the mistakes
that a guy like darn Old Washington has got to
learn to just stay in bounce. Ultimately, it wouldn't have
made the difference. However, you could have ran a couple
more plays, make them use timeouts. Things could have panned
out differently.

Speaker 3 (01:48:21):
Dan, it does make the difference. It's and you said,
like Darnield Washington goes out of bounce, but not just him,
Donald Smith does it the next play. Sure, So like
we work on that and they work on those scenarios
throughout the week every week. You never go out of bounds,
you don't fight for the extra yards, no situations. You
stay in bounced the clock is more valuable. And then

(01:48:42):
we said, you asked me the question, like moving the
ball down the field and running the clock out, getting
first downs and taking the knee at the ideal scenario,
you don't want to even have to attempt that kick,
and we talked about it. But then you see that
situation it's a short kick, you kick the kick and
you up by eight and you can't lose theory. But
now Detroit has the hands when you miss the kick

(01:49:03):
and don't execute incomplete pass from Jared Goff across the middle.
So now it's going to be a third down and thirteen.
So we told you after that Jamier Gibbs that lost
three yards an the Steelers playing today without TJ. Watt
again because of the lung issue that occurred during a treatment,

(01:49:23):
and so Steelers have been getting after Jared Goff. But
do they have enough in the tank over these final
two minutes and the Lions are going to get about
eleven of those thirteen yards back. They do have one
time out left, and honestly, in a situation carry like this,
this is your most important play. This is the time
to use it.

Speaker 2 (01:49:43):
Yeah, I mean you would use it right here to
get the best play. Did they use it? Yeah? Good
call it, Dan. Just the point being is you need
to get this.

Speaker 10 (01:49:54):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (01:49:54):
Actually, actually we saw Jared Goff going to the sideline.
This maybe a booth review on if the pass was
actually caught. Looks like it, but I thought Shane Zilstra
was the one who caught the ball. But I think
they're also taking a look on did it hit the
ground as he was trying to gather it and bring

(01:50:16):
it in. It's very very close. If it's incomplete, it's
fourth and thirteen. But the ruling on the field is
fourth and two and it's complete. Well, they're going to
take a look at it, and it allows us an
opportunity to bring back listen. There were some great highlights
on Thursday night, yes, okay, but none really could top
the dramatics of a storied NFL rivalry coming to an

(01:50:41):
end in overtime like it did in Chicago on Saturday night.
It's time now for fast times, all right, Kerrie overtime
Packers Bears, after the Bears were able to force that
overtime first in ten for Chicago in Packers territory at
their forty six yard line midway through overtime in the
Windy City. Yeah, snap, oh, let's hear it on the

(01:51:02):
Bears radio network.

Speaker 13 (01:51:03):
Snap Caleb playfake, looking to throw, searching for DJ more
over the shoulder.

Speaker 2 (01:51:09):
Catch me touchdown, Bess HiT's over at Soldier Field.

Speaker 4 (01:51:15):
The iceman cometh. The iceman take it a forty.

Speaker 3 (01:51:19):
Six yard spiral to the end zone.

Speaker 4 (01:51:22):
To DJ Moore twenty two sixteen Bears.

Speaker 2 (01:51:27):
How did the Bears get it down and get that
twenty two to sixteen overtime win. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:51:31):
Dan, when you are a good running team like Chicago,
wiz what they did here on this play. First and
ten you get over on across the opponent's fifty yard line,
so you're in plus territory. Everything on this play shows
that the Bears are going to run the ball. They
come up in heavy personnel, twenty two personnel. This is
the play they worked on all week. Can tell they

(01:51:51):
do a hard playfake. They give Caleb a little roll
to the right there to get the defenders to overrun,
and it's pretty much a two man route, really a
one man route, and he's taking the shot for Dj
more up top. He played flakes, play fakes, it throws
it deep and one of the best throws you'll see
all year. And also on top of that, Dj Moore
makes a remarkable catch big Cats to put Chicago ahead

(01:52:15):
for the go ahead touch down to win the game.
And even on that play, the Packers they knew it.
They came up to try to stop the run. They
were in good covers, but the pass was even better
and the Cats was even better even with the defender
being all over him in the pass and the passing
afferance situation as well, Bears get the big win.

Speaker 8 (01:52:32):
Yes, they do go fast times with Carrie Rhodes.

Speaker 2 (01:52:37):
Back to Detroit where the Lions are facing a fourth
and two and a pass over the middle falls incomplete
intended for Jamison Williams. However, Carrie flags on the play.
They called Pittsburgh for pass interference and Detroit will have
it first and ten at the fifty yard line.

Speaker 3 (01:52:56):
Yeah, he was there early, Dan, you said the arm
wrapped around pulled them Aroun. I think a lot of
times you get away with it if you don't get
that tug.

Speaker 2 (01:53:03):
But the tug came in. You can see his body move.

Speaker 4 (01:53:05):
Well.

Speaker 2 (01:53:05):
I can tell you if the Lions were the Seahawks
playing in that stadium like Super Bowl forty, this game
would be over and the Steelers would be celebrating because
they got every call twenty years ago in that Super Bowl.
But here in front of the home fans, even though
there were eighty five percent Steeler fans, Hecker's probably ninety
percent Steeler fans. The fact of the matter is the
Seahawks had a Super Bowl stolen from them. That was

(01:53:26):
twenty years ago. We'll fast forward to now where the Lions.
Now we'll have it first and ten, not at midfield,
but at their own forty nine yard block. Yeah, no,
this isn't This is it's intense time. Now. This is when,
oh oh, we're going to get a tripping call. We
are going to get an inavertent tripping call. And I
don't think that the Steelers defender realized that Jared Goff

(01:53:50):
was about to trip on his leg. That is, Jared
Goff was sacked on a tripping call. But so now
the Lions have new life they do. Let's see this
is oh yeah, definitely, Actually no, he knew exactly what
he was doing. I'd take that back. I think he
was the because he's getting held too though. He saw that, yes,

(01:54:11):
and also knew Goff was trying to elude the pressure
and so you stuck out your leg. In that scenario,
Alex Heighsmith was the one who was nailed for the penalty.
There were there were There was probably about three other
holdings on that play as well. But the Lions now
getting a fresh set of downs on the tripping call.
Fifteen yards on the tripping call should set them up,

(01:54:36):
but still they have to score a touchdowns and they
have that one time out still because the previous play
was a review and not a Lion's timeout on the
fourth down, so the Lions got the benefit the call
was upheld by replay on the third down and thirteen
catch would allow them to convert on the fourth and
two after the replay.

Speaker 3 (01:54:54):
Yeah, no, this is like I said, I mean, these
games are so important. Right now, every play, every yard,
every penalty is going to be magnified. And right now
the Lions still have a chance and Pittsburgh obviously needs
every win.

Speaker 2 (01:55:05):
And so yeah, this is this is crazy. What we're
gonna do is we're gonna stay here till as long
as we can. So for the Steelers Lions game, we
don't get to the MVPs today. It's blaming on the
Steelers and Lions. But it's second and ten for Detroit
with their playoff hopes on the line and a pass
to Aman Russ, he's out a little screenplay. It's gonna

(01:55:27):
take them all the way down to about the eleven
yard line. And now, now if you're Detroit, Pittsburgh doesn't
have any timeouts, so down you can run the ball here,
Yes you can. You got a time out for sure, yes,
absolutely so. Now Detroit in the advantage. It's not like
they're going to score that they that is still the objective,
but it's gonna be first down in thirteen and golf

(01:55:49):
airmails one of the back of the end zone with
forty five seconds left, so he got down to the
twelve yard line. This is where you can use the
middle of the field though, carry here in this situation.
Maybe when I said you could run the ball, I
thought they were a little bit closer. That's not in
the equation right now. You still have the one time out,
but you can at least use all of the field
in trying to get something done.

Speaker 3 (01:56:11):
If you're Detroit, oh yeah, everything's wide open, your best plays,
anything you have inside any any shovel pa. I mean,
you know they're the Lions. They got something up the sleeve.
So if they have one of those plays right now,
it would be the time to bring it out. So
it's second down and ten for Detroit again. This Lions
team needing everything that they can to even try to
get a chance at making it into the postseason.

Speaker 2 (01:56:35):
Even it's down to taste Lae, right, how did you
say it, Tesla. He gets a first down. So now
the clock continues to tick its first in goal. I
like this, don't call the time out. Yeah, I'd hand
it off to Jamior Gibbs in this situation. Now, Oh,
they've got Saint Brown touchdown, Lions thirty to twenty nine,

(01:56:58):
twenty two seconds left on the clock. Lines are going
to go for two. Yes, we gotta take a time out.
We'll tell you if they get it on the other
side next year on end Zone Radio on Fox Sports Radio.
End Zone Radio on Fox Sports Radio. And when we
left you, the Lions had gotten into the end zone
that was wiped out because of an offensive pass interference play.

(01:57:22):
What we have going on now is the Steelers up
twenty nine to twenty four, and on a play where
we have called pass interference on the Lions, the Steelers
are going to survive. Twenty nine to twenty four. Wow,

(01:57:45):
the Steelers survive. There is no touchdown. What ended up
happening on the Lions' final play from scrimmage a'mnross. Saint
Brown was at the goal line, flags were thrown out,
he caught the pass was pushed back. He then lateraled
the ball to Jared Goff who went into the end
zone and scored, but nobody knew whether Amra was down

(01:58:05):
who the penalty was against. It was a fourth down play.
Ultimately the Steelers because of the offensive pass interference that
was called. I believe on Amanra for pushing Jalen Ramsey
on the initial break at the goal line. Kerry, Yep,
that's gonna do Detroit in. So two offensive pass interference

(01:58:26):
plays for Detroit end up costing them the game against
the Steelers.

Speaker 3 (01:58:31):
Yeah, the second one blatant. That's that's the correct call.
The first one, that's that's that's debatable. It was one
of those ones when a defensive back had his hands
on the receiver as he's running that route. It is
a pick route, but I don't think the receiver was
going to pick him intentionally. I mean as far as sure.

Speaker 2 (01:58:47):
You know what I mean. This is one way more
egregious than the first one. So if the Lions have
a bone to pick, it's likely with the first one,
considering what we saw on Sunday night or Thursday night,
with the two point conversion that was picked up after
everybody thought the play was dead. It was an incomplete pass.
You have no idea on what's going to happen. So
when we left you, the Lions were in the end
zone and then a late flag came in. The Lions

(01:59:10):
did not win. Steelers survived twenty nine to twenty four.
Another crazy game for Aaron Rodgers at Ford Field. Wow.

Speaker 3 (01:59:17):
Yes, I mean yeah, I mean we've seen the hail
Mary stuff. We saw all that stuff, but we just
saw even in this game right before halftime, two seconds
he throws a deep ball that it wasn't the hail Mary,
hail Mary per se, but it was a hail Mary
as well. And then you have this crazy finish where
the officials are all together for saying like an hour,
it's it's insane.

Speaker 2 (01:59:36):
And the Lions have likely knocked themselves out. They need
everything to go their way if they want to make
the postseason this year. Feeding off the success of our
college basketball Bracket Challenge each March, we decided to do
