Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Let's go stinking, let's go, big boy, Let's go, Let's
go boy. Things really fell apart for your Miamied dolphinse
since Wow.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Listen, what do I have going for me right now?

Speaker 2 (00:16):
The Raiders an elegant tank today against the Texans and
Oklahoma blew a seventeen point lead. So it's not like
I've got a lot going for me right now.

Speaker 4 (00:24):
I have proof of Like people in the sports were
listening to our show all over the place. It's just incredible.
It's insane. Well, first of all, Luke, what's going on?
I mean, obviously, I've complained so much about Dua that
they decided to go ahead and bench him, which I'm
shocked about.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
To be honest with.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
You, you you never complained about him unless they lose.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
You argue with which is a lot. Though you argue.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
With me for what are we looking at Bree four five,
six weeks in a row, And I'm like, I don't
know if he's a guy, it's my quarterback. He sat
there and you did little Tarrell Owens impersonation. So now
now you're saying that everyone was listening to you.

Speaker 4 (01:06):
Well, also because of the quote from the quarterback from Alabama.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Did you see that? What did he say?

Speaker 3 (01:12):
Oh? They tried to write us off, but he screwed up.
He didn't even get right.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
I know that obviously. He just took that for me,
So it.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Was that's right, he took it from you. Congratulations.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
How are you feeling? Are you okay? Gris Blake? I
don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
Oh I'm not okay. I mean, geez, Louise, did you
see what happened on Friday night?

Speaker 1 (01:28):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:28):
First of all, I want to say this, it was
the greatest environment of any game I've ever been a
part of. It was incredible. I could not tip my
cap more to Sooner fans. If you are a Bama
fan and went, you know, it was amazing. Do the
show around the show. We do our pregame show on
a stage and there were people. I mean, it was

(01:50):
like a game day set. I felt like more people
were there with us and they were game day and
one of the guys would say something to someone in
the back and be like.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
That's right, that's right.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
You know.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
It was just it was It's a crazy pregame environment.
They shut they shut the city down, they closed the schools,
not granted it was gonna be the final day of
school before Christmas break anyway, Uh, it was just electric.
And to jump out to a seventeen zip lead like
Oklahoma did and lose, come on, man, it's uh it
was heartbreaking, but you know what, Uh it's a start

(02:20):
and I think they're gonna be better next year, which
sounds crazy to say right now, but I'm a Homer
and that's how you gotta feel after loss like that. Right,
wasn't that one of the seven stages of depression or
something you're couping with loss?

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Acceptance? Acceptance. I haven't accepted it yet.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
I could with that a seventeen nothing lead, I'm already thinking, Okay, who.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Are they going to play in the next right? You know,
where's he gonna go? What's the next game of the schedule?

Speaker 3 (02:45):
It would have been Pasadena.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
I would have been in the studios because I'm filling
in for Ben one night, and I would have been
in the studios for the show. Yeah stinks, but it
is is what it is.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
Man enough to look forward to is when you and
I call Oklahoma's.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
Softball that's right, which will never happen, But well, no, no,
we are to have a surprise for you.

Speaker 4 (03:08):
Arizona is playing Oklahoma, and I'm going to be calling
that game with you.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
That's awesome. You know where it's being played.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
In Palm Springs. No it's not, Damn, I was gold.
Am I closed?

Speaker 2 (03:19):
Am?

Speaker 1 (03:19):
I closed?

Speaker 3 (03:20):
You're not it's playing in Arizona.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
I was gonna say to So you caught me off already, acts.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
Like you would be able to surprise me with something
like that. That's my job. I run that. I'm the
first line of the fight. I didn't keep that by me.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
I think people want to hear it. Dude. I think
now that you know you're still in depression, think about
it for a while.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
I would rather I would rather have you take a
sharp needle and poke it in my ear than do
a softball.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Game with you.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
So Sports Talk Radio absolutely game with Yeah, I find
you a sharp stick and poke it in my ear.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
But you know, I thought overall. I thought overall.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Friday night said a great tone of the college football playoffs,
and then Saturday was a big old dud. But we
knew that so well. I'm sure that's in the Roman
numeral rundown. Your handwriting is getting terrible.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
I can't read any of even.

Speaker 4 (04:09):
Just like maybe a couple of them, but no, most
of them was pretty good. I don't know which one
you can't read out there?

Speaker 2 (04:14):
Well, I mean, I think I'm kind of in the
same spot with who was a big Greg and Iowa who, Like,
I don't even know what you're talking about in Roman numeral?

Speaker 3 (04:23):
What is that? Seven?

Speaker 4 (04:24):
Eighteen eighteen eighteen. That was just I had lunch with
my new hoop friends, new hoop friends. Yeah, it's fifty
and over guys. I don't know if you're saying pigture
on Twitter.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Guy, buddy, I've been in phone hell have I just
today got a phone back?

Speaker 4 (04:40):
So yeah, I was just amazed that, you know, how
old some of the guys really are that play And
I was like, I'm a little nervous about that. No,
it's a little scad. What guy looked like he was fifty?
I go, what are you like fifty? Because no, I'm seventy.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
I'm like, get out of here, man, what are you crazy?

Speaker 5 (05:00):
Jeez?

Speaker 1 (05:00):
And you're still playing ball.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
Fitness makes all the difference in the world. Now, listen,
you're skirting around this. But after like basically bludgeting us
for the better part of a month, and how that
the Dolphins are going to make the playoffs. And I
told you that they would have win the rest of
their games. They've now lost their last two, both in
pretty embarrassing fashion. They've pitched their quarterback and they don't
really have direction right now. So welcome to the world

(05:23):
of being a Raiders fan.

Speaker 4 (05:24):
Huh, Yeah, it's it's very concerning. There's no doubt about that. Look,
you know the definition of insanity, and that wasn't going
to happen. Bringing back both Tua and the chemistry tutor
was just not the right way to go. That's just
going to give you another year of something that wasn't
going to work out. It just wasn't going to happen. Now,

(05:45):
with that being said, Chris, I do want to say this, Okay,
go ahead, I think too.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
Real quick pouts just I'm sorry, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
You basically laid out the definition of insanity is to
do the same thing over and over and not learned
from it. Yeah, are you talking to yourself whenever you
say that, and you're talking about the Dolphins. I mean,
because you do the same thing, you do the same
thing over and over every single year and you never change.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Well, go ahead, it had look something had to go.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
And sometimes the grass is always greener, or is greener.
On the other side, it's not always not greener. Sometimes
you do win, you know, in a good situation.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
I think it's better for Tua, and I actually think
it's better for the Dolphins. I think TWOA is a
good quarterback.

Speaker 4 (06:26):
If I was gonna put a letter grade on it,
maybe I give a B minus. I don't know if
that means he's top ten or top twenty.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
I don't know where you want to put him on
the numbers. Can he take it to a super Bowl?

Speaker 4 (06:38):
Hey, there's been quarterbacks that have no business being around
the Super Bowl that have made Super Bowl. So yeah,
he's he's a good quarterback. But there were problems with
the Dolphins team. We know that they did have injuries,
and I'm not just talking this year, the year before,
you know, and some of the stuff that happened.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
Look, he'll go somewhere else. I sent you a store.

Speaker 4 (07:00):
Sorry, how there was a bunch of teams actually interested
into of.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Course, I mean Tyron Huntley's playing right now in playoff,
a potential playoff, but.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
That's a backup though that's a backup role.

Speaker 4 (07:12):
You're you know that he's not going to go to
a team in a backup situation.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
Does he really have a choice right now?

Speaker 4 (07:18):
Well, you're not going to take him in a backup
role because you're giving him too much money.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
Well, I mean you're you guys, You guys are going
to have to give up picks to get rid of him.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
Right Well, we're gonna have to do something about that,
the finances about that.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
And there's people smarter than me on that, Chris, I I.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
Oh, oh, what a big moment.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
In this business.

Speaker 4 (07:41):
And it's I know it's tough to believe, but look,
they're gonna have to work something out. But he's going
someplace where he can play or compete the play for
the starting job. He's not coming back in somewhere where
he's like, well, in case somebody goes down, we got
too is the backup?

Speaker 1 (07:56):
No, he he would.

Speaker 4 (07:57):
He would rather go to the Raiders or the Jet
before he'd be a backup someplace else. At least at
least I would. He's still considered starting quarterback in the NFL.
Like I said, Chris, I think he's a good quarterback.
Though maybe that's some of my dolphin blindness there.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
I don't know what do you think, did you?

Speaker 4 (08:14):
Would you not want to have him as your started
quarterback after well, sure, after what you've had over the
last couple of years.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
You died for somebody like to listen. You have to understand, Arnie.
I know you forget everything we talk about on shows. Yes,
but you have spent weeks calling us idiots and morons
and telling us about the greatness of Tua yes, only
to come on here literally six days after the last

(08:40):
show and say, yeah, I think it's.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
Time for you to move on.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
He's done. You know, you gotta go play for someone else.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
Chris, I want you to know what happened in the
last six days.

Speaker 4 (08:47):
I was at the market and I ran into a
ten and she said she'd like to go out with me.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
Well, so's your ten?

Speaker 1 (08:54):
The girl that she was a ten out of ten. Okay,
if you're making that in with the Dolphins, well, who's like,
who's going to replace two? Is that what you?

Speaker 4 (09:04):
Yeah, Well that's a good question, Chris, that's a very
good question.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
Okay, Well, so you're just now you have gone from
I just make this very clear for everyone that that
that checks in consistently on the X at Stinking Genius one, Chris.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
Sometimes I can't ask the ten out unless I'm single.

Speaker 4 (09:25):
Sometimes I gotta be single and ready to mingle. You
can't be married and ready to mingle. You gotta be
single and ready to mingle. That's why it rhymes together.
Not Hey, I'm married and ready to mingle. It doesn't
work that way. So I'm single and ready to mingle.

Speaker 2 (09:40):
But when you spend the better part of years and
years telling us how committed you are to your wife,
that nothing is ever going to tear you away from her,
right and that's you, that's your wife, man, yes, life,
and then all of a sudden you're now just done it.
It's kind of hard for everyone to sit here and
be like, yeah, this is some logical thinking going on
here by Arnie Spaniards.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
Well they're keeping the chemistry tutor. I can't. I can't
have both of them coming back. Is that is that
for sure? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (10:08):
I think that's for sure. I do think that's for sure.
And one at least got to go. I don't think
both would go. I think that's too much of an overhaul.
To be honest with you, I think they want some stability.
Who do you get I don't think they can even
get a young quarterback. I think they have to get
themselves and established veteran like your buddy Murray who you

(10:30):
didn't like, Kyle Murray, Kyler Murray, who you didn't like
at Arizona.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
I think I think that would be a good fit there.

Speaker 3 (10:37):
Making I didn't like Jalen Hurts. I loved Kyler.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
In fact, I'm sorry I got a mixed the fact.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
Just just I saw Kyler this weekend and did he Yeah,
because he was at the game on Friday night and
dabbed him up a little bit, and I said, Vegas bound,
baby Vegas and smiled and walked off.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
Why did you tell him? Domphin bound? What's wrong with you?

Speaker 2 (10:57):
I'm gonna say this, and I'm not trying to gaslight anyone.
And I know there is a lot of I know
there's a lot of Kyler haters out there, and that's understandable.
Kyler and Miami would be pretty nice. With Mike McDaniel,
I'm not even not even trying to blow smoke with that.
With what he wants to do offensively and having a
guy like that, I don't know dude, I think that'd

(11:21):
be pretty good, Chris.

Speaker 4 (11:22):
I think Kyler Murray is a lot like too, in
the sense that both are about B minus quarterbacks. Both
can probably benefit from the grassby and Green or somewhere
else and going ahead and starting afresh. I think both
are starting quarterbacks in the NFL. Also, and like you said,
there are a lot of positions that are open looking
at a lot of teams looking for starting quarterbacks, so I.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
Think they can find a place to land. Okay, so
here's some names you want. You want to do this
real quick?

Speaker 1 (11:49):
Sure?

Speaker 2 (11:49):
Yeah, we got some time since basically we've got so
many games to recap today. I mean, just what a
wild day in the National Football League. In fact, this
Sunday night football game is insane. The Patriots having out
fourth down and short, they trail at twenty four to
twenty one. I'm still at three zero two to go
in the game. I'm probably delayed on my feed. But
here are some potential names for you, right. You mentioned Kyler,

(12:10):
and these are quarterbacks for any team that could be.

Speaker 3 (12:11):
On the moon this offseason.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Okay, so fill in what you want, Geno Smith, Okay,
I couldn't even say it without laughing Justin Fields. Everyone
always feels like they can save Justin Fields, right and
bring him back. I mean, what's gonna happen with like
the Aaron Rodgers And Yeah.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
They said that Pittsburgh might be a place for two
or to end out there they potentially.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
Yeah, the problem with that is.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
He he's guaranteed fifty four million dollars next year. Man
is two, but again neither here nor there. Yeah, listen,
I kind of thought maybe a guy like Bryce Young
might be available, but Karl and the Panthers have kind
of turned it around.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
Maybe J. J.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
McCarthy if the Vikings are done, or Michael Wings with
the Falcons.

Speaker 1 (12:59):
Don't believe what about Cincinnati?

Speaker 4 (13:00):
And do you believe the story that the Dolphins offered
four first round picks for Joe Burrow?

Speaker 1 (13:05):
Did you where was that from? That was a legit source? Right?

Speaker 3 (13:09):
That wasn't you getting fooled by like NFL R mrs Right?

Speaker 1 (13:12):
I could have been fooled. I have no idea, but
I think I saw that.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
I saw it making the round, so I think it
was more than just getting fooled on something. But I
think this is gonna be a pretty Every offseason is
great and whenever your team is as bad as the
Dolphins and the Raiders, and for the Browns fans listening
out even though the Raiders in the Browns showed a
little fight today.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
Talk about elegant tanks.

Speaker 2 (13:33):
Yeah, but I think everyone starts thinking about what's going
to be a wild hot stove league, if you will,
a wild silly season, because there'll be quarterbacks on the move.

Speaker 3 (13:41):
There's gonna be coaches on the move.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
Can I give you one quarterback? Nobody's even thought of
it anymore? Daniel Jones, Deshaun Watson. It's a lot of money. Well, no,
you're not gonna have to touch that. No, no, no, no, you.

Speaker 4 (13:53):
Like you just got on me about Tua because the
Dolphins are gonna have to eat a lot of that
money for someone to take the same thing as DeShawn Watson.

Speaker 1 (14:02):
Even he's gonna have to eat that, and you're going to,
you know, get him on ten cents on the dollar.
You're not gonna be back. Is he any good anymore?

Speaker 4 (14:10):
Well?

Speaker 1 (14:10):
I don't have the answer to that. I would say
probably not, but I would.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
Know nine play, eighty nine yards, scoring drive, two minutes
and fifty five seconds.

Speaker 3 (14:19):
The Patriots have stormed back to take the lead over.

Speaker 2 (14:22):
The Ravens twenty seven twenty four, extra point pending. I'm
gonna assume it's good. We have a doozy going.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
On in trouble. Geez well, and.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
What's funny about it is, did you hear well? Desaga
is gonna have this in his update coming up at
the bottom of the hour. I'm sure, But how much
everyone needs the Colts to lose tomorrow?

Speaker 1 (14:42):
Yeah? I was laughed at, Like four or five teams
all needed the Colts to lose to go, Only one
team is clincher spot in the AFC playoffs, but four
more teams will clinch after if the Colts.

Speaker 2 (14:55):
It's crazy. Well, the Patriots have come back from out
of nowhere, back from the dead. If course, it's helped
a little bit that Lamar Jackson has been hurt in
this game. It's been a weird game to try to
figure out. It's almost as if the Ravens realized they
were in big trouble once they lost Lamar Jackson and
then Arnie, they just started emptying the bag of all
their fakes and all their tricks. And it worked a
few times. And the Patriots tried to fake pump. That

(15:16):
was terrible, But I mean this has been a fun one.
If you have no rooting interest. If you're a Ravens fan,
now it's heartburn. If you're a Patriots fan, it's kind
of what they've done all season long.

Speaker 4 (15:25):
Why do I feel like I've seen Huntley on like
five different teams.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
Commercial all the time.

Speaker 4 (15:31):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (15:31):
Is he the one teaching the kid about life? Is
that with it? That's right? They go to the backup.
That's a good one. Man.

Speaker 3 (15:36):
I say they're stuttering his standing around.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
It's like, okay, we're gonna go back up, all right,
we'll keep tabs on this game.

Speaker 3 (15:43):
What a comeback? The Oh how about this dad?

Speaker 2 (15:45):
The last win for the Patriots when trailing by eleven
or more points in the fourth quarter was the Super
Bowl against the Falcons.

Speaker 6 (15:53):
Oh, they trailed twenty twenty at night game.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
Well, going into the fourth quarter they trailed twenty.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
So now that was a stat And now they trailed
in this game and now they lead it twenty eight
twenty four.

Speaker 1 (16:04):
We'll keep you updated on it when we come back.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
Plus wild finishes in Detroit, inexplicable mistakes in that game,
and somehow the Lions find themselves on the outside looking
in and listen.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
We had some damn good games on Saturday.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
We'll dive into them all with already in playing right

The Patriots are gonna do it.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
New England's gonna come back and beat Baltimore tonight. Drake
May with a big scramble to basically seal it after
a gut wrenching fumble by Flowers that was recovered twenty
eight twenty four. Looks like that's gonna be the final
Tay Flowers fumble. I don't want to say it's a
difference in the game. Arnie Baltimore left them back in

(17:29):
the game, and now Geez Baltimore might be on the
outside looking in for the they are.

Speaker 4 (17:33):
On the outside looking and they're not kidding it. Just
like I told you, they wouldn't get in not.

Speaker 2 (17:37):
A lot of good races. I think you got to
stop with you. Just like I told you after I
guess about the Dolphins every single week. That kind of
overshadows everything you've tried to quote unquote.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
Tell us every single week on this show.

Speaker 1 (17:51):
Dolphins got a raw deal this show.

Speaker 3 (17:53):
Oh, here we go.

Speaker 2 (17:54):
They were supposed to have the easiest schedule ever. What
are you talking about.

Speaker 1 (17:58):
Well, we need a new quarterback, and you know Tyreek
Hill is gone too. Then we're gonna go ahead and
ship him off back to Kansas City.

Speaker 3 (18:06):
Oh, you're gonna ship him back to Kansas City.

Speaker 1 (18:08):
Yeah, that's what I think will happen to him.

Speaker 2 (18:11):
So we're just gonna give Tyreek Hill back to Kansas City.

Speaker 1 (18:14):
I'll take him a first round pick.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
If they like, you're not gonna get a first hume.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
Listen.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
One thing we haven't talked about is how crazy that
game between Pittsburgh and Detroit ended up. But nobody's talking
about the game. They're talking about DK Metcalf and the
punch he threw out a fan.

Speaker 1 (18:32):
What do you think of that?

Speaker 4 (18:34):
I saw where he was grabbing him by the shirt. Okay,
I didn't see the swing, Okay, I just saw him
grabbing him and holding him and then kind of giving
him a pushback a little bit, you know what I'm saying, right,
you know?

Speaker 3 (18:50):
With his I mean you do you have you not
seen the video?

Speaker 4 (18:54):
Yeah, I've seen the video. I just didn't I saw him,
you know, give a pushback. I think he's in big trouble.
But I'm not gonna say, you know, it's not the
worst thing I've ever seen in my life.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
But no, he's in Yeah, he's in big trouble. There's
no I would say.

Speaker 2 (19:09):
There is this point and because and maybe this is
part of me from being down the sidelines and living
in college football atmospheres and having people stormfields around you,
where it's almost as if fans feel like it's an
in like an invincibility shield that they have whenever they're
in a stadium, and no one's gonna do anything to them.

(19:29):
I'm not I think sometimes it's okay to punch a
fan in the face because they might deserve it. Yeah,
I mean, I'm just here. Look at some of these
NBA games what people say. I mean, there is some
things that people say that are unhinged at games.

Speaker 1 (19:42):
Now.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
I don't know what was said here. I don't know
what's set dk metcalf off.

Speaker 1 (19:45):
Does it make a difference what was said.

Speaker 3 (19:47):
Well, yes, it makes a difference what was said, don't
you think.

Speaker 4 (19:51):
I mean, if you think he's ever gonna not pay
a fine and not get in trouble and not get
suspended if it was something the fan I have said,
he's still gonna get in trouble.

Speaker 2 (20:01):
Oh he's got well, I mean, he'll still get in trouble.
You're absolutely right. But if you find out that he
drops some sort of racial bomb on him, right, I mean,
I would hope that everyone would say, Hey, I don't
have a problem with it.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
Now you're gonna get fine. But I just got to
tell you something.

Speaker 1 (20:14):
It's there. You guys know this because you've been to games.
Everybody that's listening.

Speaker 2 (20:18):
Right now, for the most part, has been to a
sporting of it, whether there's a jackass or there's you know,
I'm gonna be equal rights here a lady jackass. I
guess that's a fair way to say it, that you're like,
they need to be punched in the face, and it's
I think sometimes we need to check ourselves, lose your mind,
go crazy, cheer for your team. But man, Arnie, I'll
be curious to see what this guy said that set off.

(20:39):
DK Metcalf was in everyone that was like, oh, he
should have been kicked out of the game, he should
have been booted. I'm like, I don't know that I've
ever really seen anyone booted from a game unless they
go into.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
The stands after a fan, right.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
I mean we've seen we've seen players slapping fans and
kind of push him, but I've never seen anyone booted
from a game.

Speaker 1 (20:56):
Do you think he should have had to stick around
and answer questions about it? Uh?

Speaker 2 (21:01):
Well yeah, he just again, we do this every single
week with the guy or gal that doesn't answer questions
after a tough loss or after a tough moment.

Speaker 4 (21:11):
Well we do that, but I mean more, you know,
even you know, even the coach he's like he didn't
want to make a comment on it, you know, pretending
like he didn't see it, or he probably didn't see it.

Speaker 1 (21:21):
Well, I'm sure he did. He could have said he
could have said he didn't see it.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
If that's so, you're telling me that a scene behind
the injury tent, that you're gonna say that the coach
saw it, and it's just kind of making up that
he didn't see it.

Speaker 1 (21:33):
He didn't.

Speaker 4 (21:34):
He said that, he said no comment, right, he didn't
say he didn't see it.

Speaker 2 (21:38):
Right, But again, no comment could me that he hasn't
really truly seen it yet or anything. I mean, I'm
not sitting here trying to defend DK mattcalf or I'm
not sitting here trying to defend Mike Tomlin. But I mean,
there's gonna be a price to pay for this, right, Oh, absolutely,
there's no doubt. There doesn't make a difference.

Speaker 1 (21:53):
Woe was said. There's gonna be a price to pay.
He was, it's cool. You can't put your hands on
a fan, no matter what they said. You're right. Sometimes
maybe they deserve it. You just can't do it. Now,
he's gonna go ahead and pay the punishment. For it.

Speaker 2 (22:06):
Well, the crazy ending of that game too. I'm not
gonna lie. I kind of gave up on that game.

Speaker 3 (22:11):
We were getting it in our area.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
It was one of the main games, and I had
red zone on too, and I'd kind of started flipping around,
and then the next thing I know, it's like, wait, this.

Speaker 3 (22:19):
Is tight, this is close.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
Kudos to Pittsburgh for holding on, but I mean, wow,
what's what is going on in Detroit right now? Where
should that Sorry Mary Mac, we won't talk about it
too much, but where should that panic meter be right now?

Speaker 3 (22:31):
For them?

Speaker 4 (22:32):
First of all, does let me get this right they
called back to back offensive pass interference right? Is that
it was on both of them, even one where they
scored the touchdown, which I don't understand why it was
such a big discussion because you know, Mounster's offensive pass
interference game over and that's it, no matter if they

(22:52):
scored a touchdout or not.

Speaker 1 (22:53):
So I don't know why they had to have a
big discussion about that.

Speaker 2 (22:56):
Well, because it's the final play of the game and
you want to make sure you got it right. I
I think they got it right. I still can't believe
Detroit put themselves in position to come back and win
that game, which was pretty amazing. Dan Campbell didn't blame
the officials afterwards. Two touchdowns negated that would have completely

(23:16):
changed the outcome of the game. Two touchdowns in the
final thirty seconds of the game, both called back now.

Speaker 4 (23:21):
An offensive pass interference, which is you never see that ever,
first time I've ever seen it.

Speaker 3 (23:27):
You've never seen passing. Offensive pass interference called.

Speaker 4 (23:30):
Back to back on two the same on two back
to back plays. I don't think so offensive pass.

Speaker 2 (23:36):
I've seen offensive I think we've both seen offensive pass
interference because I don't know about them back to back plays.
But you make that same mistake twice and they're like, hey,
we're gonna ding you for it, and then you do
it again. I mean that's there's part of me where
the sympathy kind of goes out the window, knowing that
they're watching it closer.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
Right right, Well, I understand that.

Speaker 4 (23:55):
I just sometimes you don't at the end of the game,
you don't have the guts to call that one yet alone.

Speaker 2 (23:59):
Let's TWI it was, but I mean we're not talking
necessarily about a hail Mary though, either, right, I mean,
it was where were they at whenever they threw the pass.
I'm sitting here trying to look and pull up all myself.
Well listen, we'll get to yeah. See, so it's not like.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
It was like a hail Mary that they were thrown
in there.

Speaker 2 (24:15):
Well, anyway, Steve de Saga is rolling in because there
are major playoff implications and I think maybe shifted a
little bit based on this comeback by the Patriots tonight.
What's going on, Steve Hey?

Speaker 5 (24:25):
There, the Patriots did clinch a playoff berth with a
win at Baltimore, and by the way, that Pittsburgh win
at Detroit did clinch playoff spots for San Francisco and Chicago.
And it wasn't back to back plays late at Detroit
with the offensive pass interference in between there was a
false start and their plays run during the loss. It

(24:45):
was not. And the pool reporter did speak with the referee,
Carl Scheffer's afterwards in Detroit. He said, on the first one,
the member of my crew reported to me that receiver
Isaac Teslaw was flagged for interference because he picked one
of the defenders which created the opportunity for the catch
for his teammate. And that would be if it's beyond

(25:06):
the yard from the line of scrimmage a foul. And
then on the last one, yeah, Saint Brown Aman Ross
Saint Brown, final play of the game, as it turned out,
had that crazy catch and then lateral to the quarterback
who caught it and they thought scored, but that was
eliminated by Saint Brown's offensive pass interference. The official thought

(25:27):
that the receiver created separation and it certainly looked like
that with the two hand shove to the defender once
he was at the top of his route, and so
pass interference was called. The obvious next question is okay,
So why the long discussion at the end, he says,
because it was a complex play because first you had
to know because there was was it a fumble? Was

(25:49):
it a backwards pass? You can't advance some in the
last two minutes, we had to decide and rule on that.
And then the offensive pass interference being an offensive call
against Detroit, that negates any touchdown, and because if it's
it's an offensive f l they don't extend the second half.
The score is a no. Replaying the down is a no.

(26:10):
That's the way the ruler is written, he says, And
it's done. What as far as the lateral is concerned.
I think that's where I'm a little bit confused. Again,
it's it's not play, But wouldn't you have said as
forward progress was stopped or yet, Well, he didn't rule
it a touchdown, which is why the people went nuts.

Speaker 1 (26:30):
To the rest of the ex job explaining it he should.

Speaker 5 (26:37):
Okay, don't get excited. I have two things to say. One,
we did rule it a Detroit touchdown, but it's a
penalty on Saint Brown, so that negates the TD gotcha,
and time is expired, so that's the game.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
But again, just hypothetically speaking, if he if they wouldn't
have blown the whistle, then that and they would have
called p they would have given.

Speaker 3 (27:01):
Him the touchdown.

Speaker 2 (27:02):
Yes, yes, and as I thought, I thought they'd stopped
his forward progress anyway, just watching.

Speaker 5 (27:07):
It live, Yeah, and that was on literally the last play,
the last eight seconds in Detroit.

Speaker 2 (27:11):
Handed shove off the TP though, is pretty hilarious.

Speaker 5 (27:16):
So nullified, and Detroit plays on Christmas at Minnesota and
they're not mathematically eliminated, but let's be real, they're eliminated
at eight and seven. And we do have other playoff updates,
not just New England getting in the postseason tonight. What
you reference, The Colts are playing at home tomorrow night.
Jacksonville won today. If the Colts lose, Jags are in

(27:37):
Chargers one today. If the Colts lose, Chargers are in
Buffalo won today. If the Colts lose, Buffalo is in.
All of that could happen with an Indie loss, and
Indianapolis has lost a lot recently. If I didn't judge that,
I'm it's not that crazy. Patriots had a ten game
winning streak end last Sunday against Buffalo. They're still undefeated

(27:59):
on the road season, seven to zero. After getting the
two touchdowns at Baltimore in the last ten minutes for
this twenty eight to twenty four victory, Patriots twelve and
three overall. The Ravens falled to seven and eight. It's
not over yet. We just talked about the Pittsburgh victory.
Steelers are now two games ahead of the Ravens with
two games to go in the season, but they do
play each other as that final game.

Speaker 1 (28:21):
Could you imagine the flight? This game was won with
Tom Brady at quarterback. Oh, he's the best driver. Looking
at a.

Speaker 4 (28:28):
Miracle cover by They're gonna win another division.

Speaker 1 (28:32):
YadA, YadA, YadA. It make you sick to your stomach.

Speaker 5 (28:36):
Instead, it's the best game we've seen Drake may have
and he's had some decent ones. This was three hundred
and eighty yards passing and after the early pick, two
touchdown passes and a win. The news on the quarterback
side for the ravens Lamar Jackson left late first half
with a back injury. Did not return. Took a knee
to the side or the lower back. We're all away

(28:56):
to update perhaps on that one. Houston won at seventh
in a row, beating Las Vegas twenty three to twenty one,
Atlanta and Carolina with wins. Panthers beat Tampa Bay twenty
three twenty. Bucks have lost six of seven Chargers in Buffalo,
each one on the road. So did Jacksonville. Jags have
won six straight. Trevor Lawrence all.

Speaker 1 (29:13):
Four touchdowns that night.

Speaker 5 (29:15):
Plan We're not thirty four to twenty the final for
the Jaguars at Denver, ending the Broncos eleven game winning streak.
Minnesota won at the Giant sixteen thirteen, but Vikings quarterback
JJ McCarthy left with a right hand injury even Tennessee
beat Kansas City twenty six to nine. Chiefs quarterback today
Gardner Minshew left with a knee injury, possibly over for

(29:36):
the tourn acl Cincinnati and New Orleans each one and
by the way, this Saturday night, Green Bay hosts Baltimore.
Next Sunday night, Chicago's at San Francisco. In the NBA.
We had the highest scoring game in the league so
far this season. Chicago won at Atlanta one fifty two
to one fifty and at New York, Jalen Brunson scored

(29:58):
forty seven points in an win over Miami one thirty
two to one twenty five. There's one late game, Rockets
holding on in the third at Sacramento seventy eight seventy two.
Sacramento Kings are six and twenty two this year.

Speaker 2 (30:11):
Back to you, thanks, Steve. What were you just trying
to take credit for again? You called what how many.

Speaker 4 (30:17):
The Jacksonville Jaguars? Remember remember when you tried the brow
beat me going okay, yeah, are you right? Are you
put your drugs into them?

Speaker 3 (30:27):
Put trust in them they You put your.

Speaker 1 (30:28):
First into the my own. Remember when you said that
to me?

Speaker 3 (30:32):
Yes, And I sounded just like that when I did.

Speaker 1 (30:34):
It pretty close. Remember where I found you?

Speaker 3 (30:37):
Wheremember you were?

Speaker 1 (30:38):
Who who wants to Who I was? On tradio? Where
you're trading? I got, I got a cow.

Speaker 4 (30:44):
If I get eight sacamotatoes, we got a trade.

Speaker 1 (30:47):
Listen.

Speaker 2 (30:48):

Yes, I already turned mine in of course you did
I did. And you know, Shady Sean keeps like turn
over your pig segments to me. I'm a real good
First of all, I'm having the best year I've had
in a decade.

Speaker 1 (31:49):
So let's let's just throw that out there. But I
don't know if that can be verified, but go, but
doesn't make a difference.

Speaker 4 (31:55):
And two, if you if you want my pig segment,
why don't you do better than me in this in
this challenge and then I'll give you my pick segment.

Speaker 1 (32:02):
How about that?

Speaker 3 (32:04):
Okay, there it is.

Speaker 2 (32:05):
You can have Arnie's pick segment if you do better
than him in the college football Playoff.

Speaker 3 (32:09):
We will call you every Sunday night.

Speaker 2 (32:11):
Yeah, to get you on the air Shady Sean for
twenty See, you just never prove that you put any
money on anything. You just throw a bunch of picks
out there. But you know what, I like, prove that
you're actually gambling.

Speaker 1 (32:21):
You know what, I did a.

Speaker 4 (32:22):
Bet on this, which was absolutely crazy. I texted Brian
know before the start of the game, I you know,
I think now's a chance you could take advantage of
some of the games. I took this in these Saints
minus twenty against the Jets.

Speaker 3 (32:41):
You took the Saints minus twenty against the Jets.

Speaker 1 (32:43):
Yeah, the line was six and a half, but I
laid twenty. I still don't believe you. I don't know
it's true, Brian, no convert. But you know what the
problem is, Brian, I verified that you made the bet.

Speaker 4 (32:54):
I parlayed it to the Dolphins to win straight off to.

Speaker 3 (32:59):
The minus ten. Well, congrats on your loss.

Speaker 1 (33:04):
Then, yeah, I would have.

Speaker 4 (33:05):
But if I would have just taken straight up the
Saints minus the twenty, that would have won.

Speaker 2 (33:11):
I would think it would have made that bet. I
want to see visual proof of it.

Speaker 4 (33:15):
Okay, but it was plus four seventy, so it was
almost five to one on just that one piece.

Speaker 2 (33:21):
Hey, Bree, your Saints are actually kind of looking pretty good,
aren't they. You gotta believe right now you've got yourself, Well,
I think you've got yourself a quarterback Tyler through for
three oh eight. But again, it's the Jets too. I mean,
that's like beating the Raiders. Does it really count? Saints
approved five and ten? I'm gonna ask Todd. I'm not
kidding around. That may be the way to to gamble.
You find the game that you think is gonna be

(33:42):
a blowout and say, forget lay in six. I'll just
lay like twenty and start taking the I'm serious. That
sounded pretty good.

Speaker 1 (33:49):
And they won by twenty four.

Speaker 3 (33:51):
Look at you all right?

Speaker 2 (33:52):
When we come back, we'll get you your tweets next
right here on Fox Sports Radio. All right, welcome back
into the show. It's already in Plaank on Fox Sports Radio.
The best way to get in with the program is
on X at Stinking Genius one at Plank Show. Everybody
follow us at Fox Sports Radio. I don't really know.
I don't really know if I can take too much

(34:13):
Raider Talk tonight. But mister nobody writes, isn't Gino tied
to Pete Carroll? Obviously Gino needs to go? But will
Pete realize he's washed and retired and get and Gino
get cut? Because if Mark Davis lets Pete come back,
I don't see Gino going away unfortunately.

Speaker 4 (34:30):
Yeah, it's one of those things where if you bring
both back, it's it's like the definition of insanity. So
why would you go ahead and do that too? First
of all, I thought we're gonna pull off that win?
And did you did? I send you a story about uh,
Pete Carroll being gone, and that's.

Speaker 3 (34:48):
Anything that you have sent me. I have not received.

Speaker 1 (34:50):
My phone died at some point and it's just now
come back.

Speaker 2 (34:55):
To life today. Okay, So anything you've sent me since
last week. I had to reach out to the boss
and say, hey, can you email me if there's anything
going on. I mean, that's how bad it's been for
me technology wise.

Speaker 1 (35:07):
Okay, Well on there.

Speaker 4 (35:08):
You know the Twitter account NFL rumors, Yes, okay, so
you I mean that's a legitimate website though, is it
mat or what?

Speaker 1 (35:18):
Oh so it's a bogus report.

Speaker 2 (35:19):
And all of the NFL rumor, nfl r U MS,
nfl RT they're all attempts and aggregators and then they'll
just make stuff up.

Speaker 4 (35:31):
Oh so where it says her Raiders expected the part
ways with Pete Carroll at the end of the season.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
I think anyone could say that right now and feel
smart about it. I mean, I at Plank Show has
has sent that out right now to let you know.

Speaker 3 (35:44):
How he feels about where the Raiders are going. I am.

Speaker 2 (35:48):
I am intrigued though, because I don't know, Like, look
at Gino Smith's career arc it's one of the wildest
things ever right where he was just a backup for
like seven years. Then suddenly he goes to Seattle kind
of catches lightning in the bottle, and she Yawks are
ready to move on from him. Pete Carroll's like, oh,
I'll give you a third round pick for him, and

(36:09):
he sucked. I mean, I can't think of any other
way to put He's been terrible so well, see, I
don't know why anyone else would want to bring him in.
But then I'm also watching the Jets continue to well,
they tried it out Brady Cook today, but when the
season started, try to trot back out, you know, justin
fields and tell you that he's going to be their starter.
And everyone's now going to try to find their Sam

(36:30):
Darnold to be able to do what he's done in
Seattle or what he had done.

Speaker 3 (36:33):
I guess last year too.

Speaker 1 (36:35):
Obviously you're gonna have to go somewhere.

Speaker 4 (36:36):
I don't know if you want to start with a
rookie and start all over and try to look into
the draft.

Speaker 1 (36:41):
I don't know if that's the way.

Speaker 2 (36:42):
That's the way for the Raiders, unfortunately, because they might
be picking in the top five and listen as it
stands right in a hole.

Speaker 3 (36:48):
Let me check tankthon real quick.

Speaker 1 (36:50):
If yeah, but if you don't have what number one
or number two, you're not gonna get either one of
those quarters or no. Yeah, either one of the quarterbacks
or no. Why wouldn't you.

Speaker 2 (36:57):
The Giants right now have the top pick and the draft,
and the Raiders are sitting at number two, followed by
the Browns at three, the Jets at four, and the
Arizona Cardinals at five.

Speaker 3 (37:05):
I do, but Times have won a couple of games.

Speaker 4 (37:08):
I just assumed that anybody who's picking in number one
would probably trade that pick if.

Speaker 1 (37:12):
They're not taking a quarterback. But then that doesn't really
have to happen. Who's who would move up? It's a
fair question. Who would you think would be willing to
move up? I mean the Raiders would be a team
that might move up. Yeah, your Raiders would be one,
there's no doubt. But right now, why would they have
to they're sitting at two. Well, yeah, they wouldn't have to.

Speaker 2 (37:32):
At that point, you would get your pick of either
Dante more or from Fernando Mendoza or you know, there's
there's a couple of I mean Ty Simpson. If the
Alabama Crimson tied go on a run and Simpson plays
like he did against Oklahoma. I mean, this was a
guy that was being talked about as potential top five
pick just a few weeks ago.

Speaker 1 (37:50):
And you don't like the Vandy quarterback. Huh?

Speaker 2 (37:52):
Well, I mean I do win like the sixth round.
I don't think you want to. He's trying to get
back to college. Anytime you have someone that is draft
eligible and all you hear about them is they're trying
to get another year of eligibility at college. I know
that sounds very short sighted on my part, but on you,
that tells me all I need to know. It's like,
if you don't feel confident in that you're draft eligible

(38:15):
and what you're trying to do is get back into college.

Speaker 3 (38:19):
Come on, man, wouldn't you.

Speaker 2 (38:20):
Think that if you're going to the first, second, or
third round and you're a quarterback, that you're you're off
to the NFL?

Speaker 1 (38:25):
Yeah? But you know what it is.

Speaker 4 (38:26):
It's when he wins and wins a big game and
it's coming from Vanderbilt, it just seems so much, so
much larger, you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (38:34):
You feel like because he did it at a school
that hasn't had any Yeah, well, then you're obviously over
the moon. Whenever Fernando Mendez it does what he does, right, Well,
that's that's the losing his program in college football history.

Speaker 4 (38:46):
No, you're one hundred percent right on that. Also, I
love him. I think he's going to be a good
quarterback in the NFL.

Speaker 1 (38:53):
I'm not so sure that he's going to come in
right away and just knock him dead, but I think
he will be a good quarterback.

Speaker 2 (39:00):
Rights, the Lion's Super Bowl window closed faster than Arnie's
basketball career January twenty twenty four to December twenty twenty five.

Speaker 3 (39:08):
Hell of a run for the Lions.

Speaker 4 (39:10):
Yeah, I'm afraid he's right about that. It's closed. I
don't think it's going to come back. I think they're
in trouble.

Speaker 2 (39:15):
I could Jared goloffby a guy that's gonna be out
there or do you think they're pretty sent It sounds crazy, right,
a guy has maybe one bad season and all of
a sudden, right, well, he's got to go. I mean,
we're listening to a promo where Colin Coward is basically
just burying Patrick Mahomes in favor of Josh Allen. So,
I mean, I guess you have one bad season or
your team doesn't perform well, then suddenly everyone starts looking around.

Speaker 4 (39:38):
Right, He's like, let's go to when you know when
you will get the rage too. That's got to be
a factor. And yeah, I think they are ready to
move on for Did I bring that up too, Griz?

Speaker 1 (39:45):
I'm not getting around. I'm like, hey, they may want
to move on, Arnie. You brought it up.

Speaker 2 (39:49):
You brought up everyone that's having a bad game to
potentially be traded or moved on from ya.

Speaker 1 (39:54):
But I do think he's gonna get moved on. I
think they'll move on from him.

Speaker 2 (39:58):
Won this season again. Another guy though that that's a
big contract situation there. I mean, you're not gonna he
might be more valuable if they decide to go move
on from him. But who you're gonna get, you got
to do. Signed through twenty twenty seven, and it's a
fifty mill or more cap hit in each of the
next in two of the next three seasons, so it'll
be interesting. It'll be a lot of quarterback moving this

(40:18):
offseason in the NFL. All Right, when we come back.
We'll go game by game and what stood out here
on Fox Sports Radio. Stick around, you're listening to Fox
Sports Radio Radio. Here we go hour two and a
pretty massive game. It looks like coming up on Monday
Night football as far as playoff positioning is concerned, as
Indy with a loss opens a door for a lot

(40:42):
of goodness for everyone else.

Speaker 1 (40:43):
Niners are in.

Speaker 2 (40:45):
But I don't know if we've ever had this much
on the line on a Monday night football game this
late in the season. It's pretty wild thinking about Week
seventeen and what's at stake.

Speaker 4 (40:53):
Yeah, but it also takes away from the races I
was looking at this. Once that's done, you're not gonna
have any With two weeks left, pretty much one wildcard
spot remains for each division after that game. If the
Colts lose, it's it's not a lot of great races
going on. Some good divisional races, but overall not great

(41:15):
races for the wild card.

Speaker 3 (41:18):
Well, but do you need that?

Speaker 4 (41:20):
I do why you don't like to have good wildcard races?
I mean, look right now, Detroit's behind the Packers and
still for them to catch the Packers, they'd have to
win two and the Packers that have to lose too,
so that doesn't seem very likely. And then in the AFC,
I think it's just Baltimore and the colt With the
Baltimore losing today, I think it's just the Colts and

(41:42):
the Texans, and the Colts.

Speaker 1 (41:44):
Are like two games behind or something like that.

Speaker 2 (41:46):
Yeah, I mean again, there's I mean, you told us
before the season that four division all eight divisions were
pretty much decided, So I just should not come as
any surprise to you, right, especially since are any of
the teams that you said we're gonna win the division
actually gonna win the division in the preseason.

Speaker 4 (42:02):
I think I had well, I didn't have the Patriots
winning the divisions.

Speaker 2 (42:05):
You didn't have the Patriots, Jaguars, Steelers, or the Broncos
winning their division.

Speaker 1 (42:08):
I didn't have the Jaguars winning the division.

Speaker 2 (42:10):
No, No, you were all over the Texans. You didn't
have the Seahawks, Bears. Maybe, oh you had the Eagles.
There you go, you got the Eagles.

Speaker 4 (42:18):
But that's a good one though, the first time they've
had back to back division winners.

Speaker 3 (42:22):
Can I ask a favor?

Speaker 5 (42:24):
Then?

Speaker 1 (42:25):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (42:25):
Can we bury you bringing that up every single year?
What that that six of the eight divisions are decided.

Speaker 1 (42:31):
I don't bring that up every year the last.

Speaker 2 (42:33):
Two years, every year years, even watching the NFL, all
the divisions are decided. I mean, come on, now, we
got we don't have a lot of great division race.

Speaker 1 (42:42):
Well, I guess we got a few that are still tight,
but it's different rams and San Francisco is a good race.

Speaker 3 (42:48):
Here's my question.

Speaker 2 (42:50):
You are somebody that always gets mad whenever it's the
same teams, and then get mad whenever it's not blue
bloods or teams that everybody knows. So do you like
having I heard Mark Wieller talking about it, and I
thought it was a great point. Do you like having
a little different blood? I mean, the Seahawks are right
now the one seed in. The Broncos are right now
the one seed.

Speaker 1 (43:08):
You mean, different blood on top.

Speaker 2 (43:10):
Of the in general, I mean, listen, do I have
to really explain this. The Jaguars are in the playoffs
right now and rolling in. The Panthers are in the
playoffs right now. I mean, the Chiefs aren't going to
be there. The Bills aren't like a one or two seed.

Speaker 4 (43:23):
I'm not against those guys being in, but there's still
something missing. There's no blue blood's at top. I don't
consider Seattle or Chicago or any of those teams of
blue blood. I certainly don't consider Denver and the Patriots
without Tom Brady at blue blood anymore. So I don't
you know, That's what I feel is missing. But we
really don't have none any anymore.

Speaker 1 (43:43):
I'm guessing.

Speaker 2 (43:44):
Well, but I would say you're talking about individuals. Fine, fair,
I buy it. But look at, say, for instance, Pittsburgh.
I mean, Pittsburgh is, if you want to use the
term blue blood in the NFL, more of a college phrase.
I'm just kind of using it as an example. Pittsburgh
is the bluest blue blood US and they're nine and
six right now, and they're probably on their way to
the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (44:05):
But you don't get too hyped about them, do you.

Speaker 2 (44:07):
No.

Speaker 1 (44:07):
I mean, they're a number four seed. Maybe if they
were a number one.

Speaker 4 (44:10):
Seed, I'd say, hey, look they they're finally going to
make some noise. All that being above five hundred every year,
that that's finally going to have its advantage and this
could be the final, finally that Tomlin is going to
get back to the Super Bowl and win this and
maybe i'd have some excitement for them then. But I
told you this last week I'd rather right now take five,

(44:34):
six and seven.

Speaker 1 (44:36):
Than one, two and three in the AFC right.

Speaker 2 (44:38):
Now, So that wouldn't mean that Arnie Spaniard charge five
to six and seven would look well, the Chargers moved
up to No. No, that's right, they're five because they
can't win the division with the Broncos, or at least
for now. I don't know aye to say, have the
Broncos clinched that division now or the Chargers still have hope.

Speaker 3 (44:54):
I don't know if the Chargers still have hope or
not in.

Speaker 5 (44:56):
That yes, because the last games against Denver.

Speaker 2 (44:58):
Oh, that's right, that's right, and the only difference between
the two teams is one game, that's.

Speaker 5 (45:02):
Right, and they've already dead.

Speaker 3 (45:06):
Aren't you informed that there was no good races going on?

Speaker 2 (45:08):
So I just assumed, ouch, ouch, I mean, there's a
good chase right now in the AFC. As great as
things have been for Jacksonville, they've only got a game
lead right now over Houston.

Speaker 5 (45:19):
Chase last playoff spot in the NFC. I know Detroit's
pretty much out of it, not mathematically yet though, so
as the Packers have fallen to nine to five and
one after last night. Keep in mind there was a
concussion for their quarterback Jordan Love last night and the
backup quarterback Malik Willis has a very sore shoulder after

(45:40):
the Lake sack when they didn't take a knee at
the end of regulation.

Speaker 3 (45:43):
It's very weird.

Speaker 4 (45:43):
They're going to bring back Brett Favre Brett's gonna come back?
How great would that be? Would that be awesome? That
shatter records if they brought it back.

Speaker 2 (45:52):
But I think he's like my he's older than me.
I think he's like five right now, isn't he? I mean, no,
he can't be that being facetious, but I.

Speaker 5 (46:01):
Will wind Dicky don Nakowski.

Speaker 2 (46:04):
I think we need to normalize football players retiring it
before they hit forty? Do you know who the leading
receiver of You probably know this to Sega. Let me
ask you, because Artie, you think everyone's going to play
until they're fifty. Do you know who the all time
leader is in receiving yards after the age of forty?
Do you know the all time leader? Is a pretty
pretty simple answer, right, Jerry Rice? Okay, So from forty

(46:26):
years old on. No one has more receiving yards than
Jerry Rice. Do you know who's second and third on
that list?

Speaker 3 (46:35):
Do you know? Don't you?

Speaker 1 (46:36):
No?

Speaker 5 (46:36):
I can't know because all the guys, I'm thinking of, Wow,
he's thirty six, this is really old.

Speaker 4 (46:41):
I'm gonna say my guess would be Steve Largin. I
don't know, that's a great guess.

Speaker 2 (46:46):
Tom Brady is actually number two, and Mercedes Lewis is
on that list too.

Speaker 5 (46:51):
He's even got a few of his own passes.

Speaker 1 (46:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (46:54):
Fox brought that up a couple of weeks ago, and
it's just kind of stayed with me to show you
that funny we didn't normalize people. They're like, hey, it's
okay to retire in your mid thirties or or in
your in your late thirties. It's you don't have to
play till you're fifty. I know you're being facetious on
Brett Farv, but I mean, I was just thinking about
that watching Aaron Rodgers today, who looked pretty good at times,
but then there's other times. And they showed the highlight

(47:16):
during the Lions Steelers game when Aaron Rodgers was with
Green Bay and through the hail Mary remember that, and
then you're watching him throw down It's like, it's just it.
I get it. Father time is undefeated. But still it's
a little bit sad whenever you're like, oh, this is
the best that we can get out here right now.

Speaker 1 (47:37):
And don't get me wrong, he was slinging it.

Speaker 2 (47:39):
It's just it's it's different, right you for a lot
of the season developed.

Speaker 5 (47:43):
Quarterbacks, You're exactly correct, because they have to get the
ball out quick, they have to throw short or else
they're just not moving the ball, and until recently Pittsburgh
had a lot of games where they weren't moving the
ball very well. By the way your Brady reference, there
was an NFL stat tonight this Patriots. I'm back when
tonight is the franchisees first when they were down by

(48:03):
eleven points or more in the fourth quarter. Since Brady's
Super Bowl comeback against the Falcons.

Speaker 3 (48:09):
That's wild act.

Speaker 1 (48:10):
Absolutely, He's a fifty six years old Brett Fahre. I
told you, yeah, told you's older than me.

Speaker 4 (48:17):
You know, I was kidding around of like, oh, why
did just bring back Eipe? But Eli's younger than Rivers? No, sure,
you had forty four. I think i'd rather have for you,
Eidan Rivers.

Speaker 2 (48:27):
Well, the one thing we do know is there's some
good division battles that are up for grabs. But I
want to run through the schedule here real quick from
today and see what caught your eye.

Speaker 1 (48:34):
First. I I feel.

Speaker 2 (48:37):
For Cleveland fans, and I'm saying this is a very
hard core and hurt Raiders fan. But man, even when
they get a quarterback that seems like he might be okay,
you get the disaster with Deshaun Watson, right, and so
you got to move on from that. And then everyone's
like bullying you in to try to play Shador Sanders
and telling you how amazing he was, and he plays
and you're like, my god, she's awful, but.

Speaker 1 (48:59):
Yeah, was off? Well, I disagree. I thought he played
above average.

Speaker 2 (49:03):
Listen, dude, I don't know what Justina Anderson tweet you're
reading right now, but he played awful right now.

Speaker 3 (49:09):
You cannot take that sack that he took late.

Speaker 1 (49:11):
In the game.

Speaker 2 (49:11):
And I get, oh, yeah, but I'm a fan of his, right,
But that game's not about Shadoor Sanders. That game is
more about Buffalo having a fight for their lives in
that game. That's crazy Why was that game so.

Speaker 1 (49:24):
Tight, especially when Cook ran for over one hundred yards
on just sixteen carries. Buffalo seems so and I hate
to say this, they played to the level they're oppoted.
It seems like when they're on though. I agree, you
saw what was it to come from behind against the
Ravens or they're putting up points after points when their
offenses going, they're just so stopping them. I don't know
what happened today.

Speaker 4 (49:45):
I mean it maybe it was like one of those
perfect storms. Everybody was betting the Bills and lay in ten.
You knew to Mighty as well.

Speaker 1 (49:52):
Take the other side is everybody was going to be wrong,
and Brown's came up with a strong game. Defensively, Gosh,
Josh Allen was horrible. Was he not well?

Speaker 2 (50:00):
And then you had you had a touchdown pass dropped
in the end zone which would have given a little
bit more separation on the score.

Speaker 3 (50:09):
Yeah, but he was not very good today.

Speaker 2 (50:12):
Chargers, I mean, listen, they kicked the snot out of
the Dallas Cowboys today. Man, And I get it that
it's a it's a team that is probably still I'm
perplexed by their loss with the Jaguars a couple of
weeks ago. Well, I say a couple weeks ago. That
was like five games ago. But now, I mean they're

(50:32):
on fire. That's their fourth straight win. They've won seven
of their last eight games. I want to see him
in the playoffs right now, Arnie, would you make of
saying of the Chargers today?

Speaker 4 (50:43):
Yeah, I can't remember who, but there's a there's somebody,
Uh damn, I can't remember. Somebody at Fox actually covers
the Chargers and goes to the games, and he said
on our show that, oh, look at all their injuries.

Speaker 1 (50:58):
Man, they're done.

Speaker 2 (50:59):
They're does every impersonation have some sort of hicic accent.

Speaker 1 (51:04):
I was doing accent.

Speaker 3 (51:06):
I don't think that sounds anything like Steve, but go it.

Speaker 5 (51:08):
Don't sound like I never said the words they're done.

Speaker 4 (51:11):
Oh you'd look at the offensive line, ardy, look at
the offensive line.

Speaker 5 (51:15):
Still the case. Justin Herbert has been hit more than
any quarterback in the NFL this year.

Speaker 1 (51:20):
Gosh, well they looking pretty good.

Speaker 5 (51:21):
Now you're gonna quote you are wildly off in well,
stop it, stop it.

Speaker 2 (51:27):
There is nobody that can miss quote something you said
better than Arnie Spaniels.

Speaker 5 (51:31):
You can miss quote himself. At this point in fact,
does on a weekly basis.

Speaker 4 (51:35):
You knew you're saying, well that offensive line injuries, man,
they're just.

Speaker 2 (51:39):
Gonnaugh May losing Joe Alt's been tough, but holy smokes man,
they look good.

Speaker 1 (51:43):
What you listen.

Speaker 2 (51:44):
I don't know if you want to go in depth
on Chiefs Titans. I'm really worried about this Raiders game
against the Chiefs in a couple of weeks, that the
Raiders might win it and ruin their draft positioning because
Titans just dropped a few spots or Dolphins. I mean,
anything you want to add from forty five to twenty one.

Speaker 1 (51:58):
Well, just just one thing other on the Chiefs and
the Titans.

Speaker 4 (52:01):
First of all, it goes to show you just how
fall just how deep the Chiefs have fallen, and how
that they're in serious, serious trouble even when they get
Mahomes back, how long that's ever gonna be. Travis Kelsey's
no longer going to help them at all. They're in big,
big trouble.

Speaker 1 (52:19):
Man.

Speaker 4 (52:20):
They're talking, you know, everybody's talking about the window of
opportunity closing on the Lions.

Speaker 1 (52:24):
How about his closing on the.

Speaker 4 (52:25):
Kansas City Chiefs faster than you could blink. And that's
with a healthy Mahomes. With a hurt Mahomes. Now, who
knows if they're ever going to make it back. Now
they might be done permanently.

Speaker 2 (52:36):
Well, I again, they're dead this year. I just I
have this feeling that they're going to bounce back. Every
single time I hear about ACL injuries. Everything I read
and everything everyone tells me is it's a full year
before you get back to one percent. And yet everything
that people are trying to say about Patrick Mahomes is, oh,

(52:59):
he'll be ready for this art of the season.

Speaker 3 (53:00):
And I don't know about you, aren'y. I don't think
you want to rush that back.

Speaker 2 (53:03):
I think you want to make sure that you get
to one hunder.

Speaker 4 (53:07):
I felt for a bogus report. I felt the other
block that the Twitter side was a fall and for
all kinds of crap. One of them was Patrick Mahomes
says he's jogging ready. I was like, I'm like, damn, man,
what have we got Superman out there?

Speaker 1 (53:22):
What's going on? Yeah, he's it's gonna be. It's gonna be.
What like, it's not gonna take a full year, though,
is it? They're saying what like nine to ten months.

Speaker 2 (53:30):
Well, so, I mean there's twelve months in a year.
I'm just saying there's.

Speaker 1 (53:34):
Well though it makes a difference to make it back
before the year or not.

Speaker 5 (53:38):
But bring it up just hearing be injuries. By the way,
the Ravens do say postgame that it's a bruised back
for Lamar Jackson tonight when he took that knee to
basically the kidney that.

Speaker 3 (53:49):
Looked like that looked painful, painful.

Speaker 1 (53:52):
I'll just say.

Speaker 2 (53:54):
My experience in covering college guys is if you get
an a cl in usually it's a full year before
you're back to one hundred percent. Patrick Holmbs may have
that Adrian Peterson acl and it might be a different
world for him, But I would just be someone that's like, hey, man,
take your time.

Speaker 3 (54:12):
You don't need to rush things back. But who knows.

Speaker 2 (54:15):
I mean again, he might be in this whole world
of want to prove everyone wrong and that he can
get back.

Speaker 5 (54:20):
No, but you're right, because what's mahomes If he doesn't
have the escapability right off and the scrambling. That's what
makes him special.

Speaker 2 (54:27):
Absolutely absolutely, We're rolling through all the games from the
day and skip by a few.

Speaker 3 (54:31):
I mean, do we have to talk about the Vikings Giants?

Speaker 5 (54:33):
That was gross one injury there, JJ McCarthy and.

Speaker 2 (54:38):
Again, bring anything you want. Ad on your Saints improving
to five and ten this year?

Speaker 1 (54:42):
What's that?

Speaker 3 (54:43):
Three in a row?

Speaker 7 (54:44):
It is?

Speaker 8 (54:45):
And actually I'm just really excited for Chris o'lave like.
I think that story. You know, he was thinking about
retirement and he's on. I saw that one, so that's
kind of good. And you know they've been doing good.
Oudric estimate from Notre Dame. I liked him in college, so.

Speaker 1 (54:58):
I'm not Yeah, it doesn't look.

Speaker 2 (55:00):
Two back, not too gloomy. At least you're not a
Raiders or a Cardinals fan right now.

Speaker 5 (55:04):
For Chris Olavey has found a quarterback that will target
him sixteen times.

Speaker 2 (55:08):
Yeah, right, Okay, Derek Carr hate all the Derek Carr hates.
If you had Derek Carr, if you had Derek Carr
this year, you'd be ten and five and not five
and ten. Panthers are in the playoffs right now. They
beat the Buccaneers today. I don't think the story, though, guys,
is on the Panthers here. I think it's more about
what's happening to the Buccaneers because after they beat the

(55:30):
Saints twenty three to three, they have now lost six
of their last seven games. The only winning there was
what a win over Arizona, and some of them have
been pretty bad. I mean, they got destroyed by the Bills,
they got destroyed by the Rams. Baker went from being
an MVP candidate to now Buccaneer fans are like, what's
going on?

Speaker 3 (55:50):
You're going They're playing Miami next week, so we know
that's a loss, right on.

Speaker 5 (55:53):
Carolina is hosting Seattle next time.

Speaker 4 (55:55):
Right But they've had a slew of injuries. First, we'll
start with Bucky Errvery. That guy missed how many games?

Speaker 9 (56:00):
Was it?

Speaker 1 (56:01):
Six? Seven, eight? Eight? Games? He was the he was
their young stud back out there.

Speaker 4 (56:05):
He was going to carry the load this year, and
he's just been non existed at least for the better
part of the year.

Speaker 5 (56:11):
Beca Luca was invisible in this game today until the
one long pass.

Speaker 4 (56:15):
Ye and then and then Baker's been hurt also, Chris,
you know that guys, he's been dealing with injuries for
seems like the better part of a month or two. So,
I mean, you could chalk that up for a little bit. Also,
it's just okay, it's just been horrible for them. I'm
not going to say they're taking a step backwards for Baker,
but he's just had a really a lot of injuries
to deal with.

Speaker 2 (56:35):
Let's roll through the rest of the schedule when we
come back, because Todd Furman is on deck with Arnie
and Plank right here on Fox Sports Radio stick Around.

Speaker 7 (56:43):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live.

Speaker 2 (56:55):
Now, let's welcome in the man, the myth, the legend,
Todd Furman, who spent the week in Norman, Oklahoma watching
I don't know, Todd, what'd you think of the show?
What do you think of the environment of the game?
Broke my heart? But what a great environment?

Speaker 9 (57:07):
Huh oh, there's no doubt about it. I mean that
building was absolutely electric. In my first opportunity to see
a game at one of the iconic venues in college football,
and at seventeen nothing, it looked like the Sooners We're
destined to move on to the quarterfinals. You give up
one drive, a drop deep ball that should have ended
up in the end zone a drop punt and lo
and behold at seventeen seventeen at the half. But the

(57:28):
one thing I will say about the Sooner Faithful that
came out early in the day. Those folks partied into
wee hours of the morning as well. It was kill
an electric environment about one thirty two o'clock in the
morning in Norman last call. It did make it a
little tough for me Playing to get on my flight
at six fifteen Saturday morning.

Speaker 1 (57:42):
I head back to me, you should feel honored.

Speaker 4 (57:45):
I've been doing the show with Playing for twelve years,
never invited to be down to Oklahoma to see a game.

Speaker 1 (57:50):
Never my friend, Well.

Speaker 9 (57:51):
Look, I mean there is a caveat to all this, arn'tie.
I happened to run into Plank and happenstance, made sure
I met him, I greeted him. I was in as
a guest by one of Chris Playing's colleagues, and I
can understand what you've never been invited to. Typically don't
let you leave the state of Vermont. More often than not.

Speaker 3 (58:08):
Yeah, hey, and shout out to our buddy Mark Rodgers.

Speaker 2 (58:11):
He works on one of my competing stations, but he's
been a great friend of mine for a long time,
and we just, I mean literally, we just happened to
cross paths.

Speaker 3 (58:19):
It was amazing. It made my day, Todd.

Speaker 2 (58:22):
But overall, since we've started here on the college football playoffs,
what was your takeaway from the underdogs winning the first
two games in A and M Miami and obviously Alabama,
and then to see what we expected in the other
two with Oregon just destroying James Madison and watching what
I mean, my good Tulane got smoked by Old miss

(58:42):
as well.

Speaker 3 (58:43):
It's just pretty gross. After those first two games.

Speaker 9 (58:45):
I have more questions that need to be answered about
the SEC at large. I don't think we learned a
whole heck of a lot about old myths and their
dismantling of Tulane. The credit to Peak Golding and his staff.
They were ready to go and a team that played
with the chip on their shoulder. We'll see exactly how
Alabama measures up against the number one team in the
country is a full touchdown nerdog in the Rose Bowl.
And I think we have the eight best teams at

(59:06):
least that are still playing out the stretch that are
probably the most balanced, with the one exception being noted
Amey we know didn't get a seat at the table,
but it should set up for some phenomenal games. And
the one that I'm probably most intrigued is the Oregon
Texas Tech Showdown because you have a contrast and styles
a Red Raiders team who dominated Big twelve Hoots for
the most part when Baron Morton was healthy. But we
don't know exactly how that league as a whole stacks

(59:28):
up with the rest of the country, and I think
we're going to find out pretty quickly. Come that quarterfinal
game against the Ducks team that showed a tremendous amount
of balance. Unfortunately, though for all their backers weren't able
to play a full sixty as JMU came barnstorming back
to sneak in the back door as a twenty one
point underdog.

Speaker 1 (59:45):
Well that's the definition of a backdoor cover.

Speaker 4 (59:47):
I was just about to tell you that one stung
for everybody that had Oregon minus twenty and a half
when they started putting in their eighth string and stuff
like that in there.

Speaker 1 (59:56):
It was painful there, Dodd.

Speaker 9 (59:59):
It definitely looked like everybody for Oregon that happened to
have a jersey on, got some reps, and you go
from being up forty eight to thirteen in that game
when Dante more throw was an interception to failing to cover.
But I do have to give jam you a ton
of credit. They signed up for sixty minutes, and they
fought their behinds off, including in that final two minutes,
to be able to sneak in the back door and
potentially rewarded some of their boosters and fans that I'm

(01:00:21):
sure had a little bit of skin in the game
back in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Speaker 2 (01:00:25):
All Right, Todd, let's talk a little bit about the
NFL today. What'd you make of the finish in that
Lions game? By the way, could I thought the Steelers
looked good, they had him on the ropes. I thought
the Lions were going to pull it off there in
the end. But what'd you make of the crazy finish?

Speaker 9 (01:00:40):
Ah that I love my wife, but I'm thankful that
she was two thousand miles away, because I'm not sure
I would have been able to handle all that nervous
energy with her beloved Steelers doing everything they could and
then some to try and give that game away. Talk
about a unique circumstance, to say the least, with the
offensive pass interference, the lateral, the Jared goff and just
when you think you've seen everything in the NFL has

(01:01:00):
to offer, you get a finish like that kind of
book ended with the finish that we saw on Thursday
Night football, or with a two point conversion of sorts
that allowed the Seattle Seahawks to get back in that game.
So the NFL this season, maybe more that I can
remember in recent memory, has an awful lot of parody,
and I think it'll boil down the matchups more so
than identifying a clear cut best team in the league

(01:01:20):
as we try and figure out what fourteen teams will
get an opportunity to play in the postseason. Picture got
a little bit clearer today, and of course, the New
England Patriots putting a proverbial nail potentially in that Baltimore
ravens coffin.

Speaker 1 (01:01:31):
You know, Tod, I think I may have stumbled upon
something really good here.

Speaker 4 (01:01:34):
And I'm not kidding around. I was telling everybody before
the game. I was even texting Brian though, I say, hey,
I think the Saints are just going to punish the Jets,
which a lot of people did. I laid twenty, but
unfortunately I parlayed them to the Dolphins and to the
Bills minus ten. But why don't you take out those
especially at the end of the year, Like you're saying,

(01:01:56):
maybe the Patriots next week are going to blow out
the chests, so instead of in twelve, you want to
late twenty or something because you know the Patriots are
gonna win by three touchdowns.

Speaker 9 (01:02:04):
Well, I mean, there's always an opportunity if you want
to dabble with alternate spreads. Should you have strong convictions.
We do say that the NFL is the most efficient
market that's out there, and so oftentimes it can be
a little bit of fools gold. But look, every situation
isn't created equally, and there are no doubts and teams
that the betting market hasn't caught up to. I mean,
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers right now are the definition of
futility at the betting window. I believe after today at

(01:02:25):
seven straight games that they failed to cover, and we
talk about these teams finding rock bottom. Fortunately for Tampa,
they played the much malign Miami Dolphins next week in
South Florida, so that should be the perfect You're all
for them as well.

Speaker 2 (01:02:38):
I have so many questions about a couple of things,
like what's going on in Tampa? Do you guys get
into it? But I can't stop thinking about that Bears
game on Saturday and what Caleb Williams has developed into.
Though again, everyone remembers a big pass play and that's
what matters.

Speaker 3 (01:02:55):
He had a few tough moments here in the game.

Speaker 1 (01:02:56):
But are you buying in the Chicago right now?

Speaker 9 (01:03:00):
I think the Bears have shown me a ton It
was a team I was reluctant to buy into, one
that I do think flirts a little bit too much
with disaster and has lived on the right side of
variance in these one score games that we know it
goes up, sometimes it can come back down, and whether
it happened in a sixty minute sample size or Bears
have to pay the piper next season, eventually it's going
to come back to haunt them a little bit. But

(01:03:21):
at the same time, it's a young quarterback learning how
to win, and you see a change in the culture
watching them for sixty minutes, knowing that they're never out
of a game, whether it requires a funky bounce on
an on sidekick that binged off Romeo Dobbs' hands to
allow them to get back in the game, or you know,
finding a guy from the practice squad in the back
of the end zone for Kleb Williams being able to
complete that pass and then parlaying it into a perfect

(01:03:44):
throw that you could have dropped into a trash can
to djmore in overtime. So like what I've seen from
this Ben Johnson offense, and the more you watch the Lions,
you begin to wonder, did we give Ben Jonson enough
credit for everything he meant to Detroit offensively? Is that
the injuries they're dealing with, but clearly the loss has
been the Bears game and reason to believe that this
is a team that is going to be a thorn

(01:04:04):
in everyone's side going forward, and Caleb Williams will be
an MVP cannont maybe as early as next season.

Speaker 4 (01:04:09):
Todd, you're not giving me any value when it comes
to be betting which teams are going to go to
the Super Bowl and win the Super Bowl. Usually when
you have seeds five, six seven, you're giving me twenty
five thirty five, fifty to one odds. You're not going
to give me that with the Buffalo Bills, or the Chargers,
or the Green Bay Packers or San Francisco or even
the Rams.

Speaker 9 (01:04:30):
There's a lot more parody in the market than you've seen.
But of course, when you don't have a clear cut favorite,
you're not going to have long shots, So it kind
of cuts both ways. The last couple of seasons, I mean,
the Chiefs has taken up so much win equity in
the AFC that if you wanted to make a case
for the other six teams in the playoff Picchu, you're
not naming the Buffalo Bills. You were going to find
some of those long shot prices. But right now, as
you look at the odds to win the AFC, I mean,

(01:04:51):
you have three teams all with odds shorter than four
to one, and the Broncos, Patriots and Bills. And then
you have that second tier, so to speak, with the Texans,
Jaguars and Chargers. And should you believe that the Pittsburgh
Steelers or the Ravens can pull a rabbit out of
their hat. I mean that's where you find a little
bit more opportunity and upside. It's a little bit more
top heavy in the NFC, where it's the Rams, Seahawks

(01:05:11):
and Eagles, and then you drop off a bit to
the Packers, Bears and forty nine Ers. But no, you're
not going to find a true Cinderella story because I
think you know, when you look at it, you know
maybe ten, eight, nine, ten of these teams are the
fourteen that'll make the playoffs if things were to break
the right way, have a legitimate shot to get to
Santa Clara. And then that's all you want is if
one sixty minute sample size to play a game that
you can remember forever.

Speaker 2 (01:05:30):
Hey, I know we're showing on time, Todd, but where
should the panic level be for Bronco fans right now?

Speaker 3 (01:05:35):
After today?

Speaker 9 (01:05:36):
I don't think there's any reason to panic. I think
sometimes these losses late in the season can be a
blessing in disguise. You know, you've run so well for
the Broncos, and they've kind of been the AFC's version
of the Bears, winning a lot of these one score games,
you know, playing extremely well in the fourth quarter, but
rarely putting together complete sixty minutes. And I think it's
said a little bit more about the Jaguars. I mean,
that was arguably the best We've seen Trevor Lawrence look

(01:05:58):
in a hostile environment, always just with his decisions, and
clearly has shown a ton of maturation and progress under
just you know, fourteen games of Liam Cohen at the Helm.
So said more in my opinion about the Jags. I
had questions about the Broncos coming in, But if there
is one takeaway over the last couple of weeks, I
think this is a Broncos defense that right now is
getting buy more on reputation than what we've seen on

(01:06:19):
the football field.

Speaker 4 (01:06:20):
You know, Todd, You're the only reason I'm not as
rich as Klay Travis. Why did you tell me the
better Anthony Joshua against Jake Paul.

Speaker 1 (01:06:26):
I could have made some dough on that one, huh.

Speaker 9 (01:06:28):
Because that would have been the first time in your
life that you ever put up ten dollars to make
a dollar. You're always looking for a long shot instead
of trying. So it was there was no chance that
you were ever considering betting the favorite in that particular fight.

Speaker 1 (01:06:41):
Aren't he Was it that big of a fit? Ten
to one? Is that won the test?

Speaker 9 (01:06:44):
He was one to ten. There was a lot of
money that came in on Jake Paul closer to post time,
and I believe Anthony Joshua went off at one to seven,
but you watched that fight, he probably should have been
one to seventy. And it's rare to see that kind
of lopsided results. But look, people have questions all the
time about some of those YouTube fighters and how they
were staged. But credit to Jake Paul for stepping into
the ring with a heavyweight and Anthony josh were taking

(01:07:07):
it seriously and taking a little bit of his foot
off the accelerator because he probably could have ended Jake
Paul's life right there in the ring.

Speaker 2 (01:07:15):
I's gonna say, is that gonna finally end the Jake
Paul boxing whenever we see what happens when he goes
up against a real fighter or no, will this continue?

Speaker 8 (01:07:25):
No?

Speaker 9 (01:07:25):
I think it changes a lot of the dynamic there,
and you wonder if that was of course by design
to you know, try and test your metal against somebody
that is very decorated as a true boxer instead of
a UFC fighter where the striking is a little bit different.
And while we can say what we want about the spectacle,
it takes guts to get into the ring and go
toe to toe with a heavyweight champion who has held

(01:07:45):
the belt in the past and clearly took a belt
to mister Paul when he's given the opportunity on Friday night.

Speaker 2 (01:07:51):
Love it, Love it all right, Tod, have a great
week men. It was great to see you, so glad
you got to experience a game day. Let's do it
again where we can actually hang more next year.

Speaker 9 (01:07:58):
And we'll look forward to it and make sure playing
we we're there. We send an arny picture and we'll
be sure not again.

Speaker 3 (01:08:03):
This first thing I did when with you, all right,
that's Todd Firman.

Speaker 1 (01:08:06):
He's awesome.

Speaker 2 (01:08:07):
Yeah, I was. I was doing my pregame show. I
was getting set up for my pre pregame show, and
all of a sudden I look and him like, that
looks like Todd Furman, and by god, it was. And
the first person I texted was you never would have known.

Speaker 1 (01:08:20):
What he looked like. Never, never, never, top He's.

Speaker 3 (01:08:24):
On TV all the time.

Speaker 2 (01:08:26):
Steve de Segert comes rolling into the Fox Sports radio studios.

Speaker 5 (01:08:29):
What's going on, Steve's guys, Arnie's a company man. He
never watched FS one.

Speaker 1 (01:08:33):
That's right, that's right.

Speaker 5 (01:08:35):
New England Patriots clinched to playoff birth. Pats were winners
at Baltimore tonight, twenty eight, twenty four, with two touchdowns
in the last ten minutes and updated stats from Associated Press.
John Harbow has had a long coaching career in the league,
but regular season in playoffs. This is now twenty times.
John Harbaugh has blown a double digit lead to lose

(01:08:57):
from second half double digit lead more than any other
coach in the last thirty plus years, and eight of
those losses have come in the last four seasons, including
tonight and Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson left late first half
with a bruise back took a knee to the side.
Derrick Henry two touchdown runs one hundred and twenty eight
yards rushing and early fumble. New England running back Trevion

(01:09:19):
Henderson left with a concussion. Pittsburgh won today at Detroit
twenty nine, twenty four. The Lions lost clinch playoff spots
for San Francisco and Chicago. You mentioned the interaction with
the Detroit fan in the first row and DK Metcalf
of the Steelers. The Detroit Free Press was able to
go and interview the fan. They got his name it

(01:09:41):
took some doing, got his name, said he's a Michigan native.
He said, my words don't matter because it was on camera,
and then more than once he made sure to mention
the name of Decaylon Zekirius metcalf which apparently is DK
Metcalfe's full name. Quote, he doesn't like his government name.
I called him that, and then he grabbed me and
ripped my shirt. I'm a little shocked the NFL I

(01:10:02):
still say. He said he just ripped his shirt. I
thought he threw a punch. That makes me feel a
little better. Yeah, we're throwing the shirt back at him.
But it did look like a missed punch, like very close.
More than one person said if DK metcalf connected, the
fan would not still be standing. The NFL said in
a statement it cannot intervene to kick out the player
because there was no flag on the field, but they

(01:10:25):
can weigh in regarding other things, and in fact, Jean's
sterotre on the broadcast said, yeah, this will be delivered
to compliance as he put it, so potential suspension or
fine for DK metcalf It was Tracy Wolfson, who was
the sideline reporter there today in Detroit he said, Metcalf
came over because the fan in the stands was holding

(01:10:45):
a number four Pittsburgh jersey. So Metcalf went over and
the fans said something to him, and you saw the
swipe in response. Now Pittsburgh is nine and six, Baltimore
falls to seven and eight, meaning the Ravens are two
games beat Pittsburgh in the division with only two games left.
Houston won at seventh straight beating Las Vegas twenty three

(01:11:08):
to twenty one. Jacksonville won at sixth in a row
win at Denver thirty four to twenty and the Jacksonville
Jaguars in all eight games since their bye week have
scored at least twenty five points. They are red hot.
I saw a stat. Oh, just the last four games
Trevor Lawrence has. Thank you, Florida.

Speaker 1 (01:11:28):
You just get it every it's going to be.

Speaker 5 (01:11:32):
You have a list of the whole league, right, you're
just coming down the list everyone. You want to curse
everyone one by one. But anyway, it's not only no turnovers,
as he's piling up all the touchdowns the last four weeks.
Four more touchdowns for Trevor Lawrence here Chargers in Buffalo,
each one on the road Atlanta and Carolina with victory.
But these Jaguars, who did beat the Chargers head to
head by the way convincingly right before the Chargers finally

(01:11:54):
get a buy Jaguars franchise has won at least eleven
games in a season for the first time two thousand
and seven Monday Nights, it's going to be San Francisco
at Indianapolis, and we'll maybe next segment get again to
how many teams will be watching intently to that game.
In the NBA, it's not everything is final. There's an
overtime game going on at Sacramento. It's ten seconds left

(01:12:18):
in overtime. Houston's at the line now up one twenty four,
one twenty two over a Kings team that is six
and twenty two for Sacramento. Russell Westbrook with the tying
three Layton regulation at New York, Jalen Brunson with forty
seven points, eight assists, no turnovers the next record now
twenty and eight. After beating Miami, Chicago woned Atlanta one

(01:12:39):
fifty two to one fifty. That's the highest scoring game
in the league so far this season, and the Bulls
play in Atlanta again on Tuesday. They're just staying in town.
The Bulls halftime lead today was eighty three seventy three,
and by the end on three pointers. In that game,
Chicago was twenty of forty two. Atlanta went twenty three

(01:12:59):
of forty Wow.

Speaker 1 (01:13:02):
Wow.

Speaker 5 (01:13:02):
Spurs won their sixth straight a win at Washington. Wizards
are five and twenty two Minnesota and Brooklyn with wins.
Clippers center of eats a Zoobos will miss several weeks
with a sprained ankle. The Red Sox acquired first baseman
Wilson Contraras from Saint Louis. Japanese slugger Munataka Murakami will
sign with the White Sox on a two year deal.

Speaker 4 (01:13:21):
Back to you, hey, I'm sorry, by the way, a
little problem in the Bill's Browns game.

Speaker 1 (01:13:26):
Huh.

Speaker 4 (01:13:27):
Nobody's brought that up, right, not even anybody brings up tomorrow.
But they got a little problem on what happened. I
don't think anybody's really tuned in on what happened. But
Shador Sanders got sacked into one yard line right. They
went to a commercial, they looked at the replay. They said, no, no, nope,
that's a safety. Two points actually put the two points

(01:13:50):
up on the ESPN site and the Fox word out
a twenty five to twenty and then for some reason
somebody at the New York office said, let's look at
it again.

Speaker 1 (01:14:02):
I don't think so, and.

Speaker 4 (01:14:03):
They said, you know what, we're gonna overturn the overturned.

Speaker 1 (01:14:08):
We're gonna overturn the camera and not say it was
a safety. And then they took the two points away.
First time they've over overturned the camera. I've never heard
that before.

Speaker 2 (01:14:18):
It's crazy. I did not realize that happened. But in
the end Bill still won the game.

Speaker 1 (01:14:22):
Can we come by?

Speaker 5 (01:14:23):
Josh Allen, by the way, avoided the safety by reaching
all over the gold h one y yes while he
was in the end.

Speaker 2 (01:14:31):
Ze all right, when we come back the segment right
here on Fox Sports Radio, Oh Mary spinning the Christmas tunes.
Welcome back to Arnie and Plank on Fox Sports Radio,
and say hello to Steve de Seger.

Speaker 3 (01:14:43):
What's going on, Steve?

Speaker 5 (01:14:44):
Everything's final Now the late NBA game has done Sacramento
in overtime Beach Houston one twenty five, one twenty four
Kevin Durant miss lash Hut. Sacramento got a late three
in regulation from Russell Westbrook a late three final seconds
of overtime. I'm from Dennis Shrewder and a Kings team
that was six and twenty two gets the victory. Now,

(01:15:05):
a lot of NFL to discuss because we're seeing teams
that weren't great last year be fine enough to make
the playoffs this year. Now, the Eagles currently are the
only team that won a division last year that is
currently leading its division, and in fact, they clinched the
NFC East with yesterday's win. First time we've had back
to back winners in that division since the Eagles over

(01:15:25):
twenty years ago. They realigned the divisions to how they
are currently over twenty years ago. Only once in all
that time have we only had one repeat division winner,
and that was over a decade ago, So that's something
that's on the line. Wow, yet again, we're getting teams
that weren't in the playoffs last year. Ian I mentioned
that Chicago and San Francisco clinched playoff spots today when

(01:15:46):
Detroit lost and Seattle clinched a playoff spot, they're back
in the postseason after the Thursday comeback win. The amazing
streak to me and I hear this stat every year,
and it's still true. In the NFL since nineteen at
least four teams every season qualified for the playoffs after
failing to make the postseason the year before. Thirty five

(01:16:08):
straight years. It's not just like one team. At least
four every year are new to the postseason thirty five
years in a row, and we've just named three standing
by for the fourth maybe next weekend. But we did
have a Buffalo win at Cleveland in that another victory
for the career of Josh Allen. He's getting close to
Patrick Mahomes record most wins in your first eight seasons

(01:16:31):
in the league. Mahomes had eighty nine regular season wins.
Allen now with eighty seven and two weeks left in
this season. In the loss for Cleveland at home against Buffalo,
Miles Garrett was credited with half a sack. He's up
to twenty two sacks this year.

Speaker 1 (01:16:46):
How was a gift by the way to half a sack.

Speaker 5 (01:16:49):
Not as much as the Strayhan won at the end,
but that's another story. Straighthan with twenty two and a
half back in two thousand and one. TJ. Watt tied
that mark with twenty two and a half four years ago.
Mike Tomlin, at age fifty three, already gets career win
number two hundred today with that close victory at Detroit.
That includes playoffs, by the way, and it also means

(01:17:09):
yet again a non losing season for the franchise of
the Steelers. This is twenty two straight years with a
five hundred record or better. That's now the all.

Speaker 1 (01:17:19):
Time NFL ramzing amazing.

Speaker 5 (01:17:21):
Dallas Cowboys through nineteen eighty five had gone twenty one
straight seasons without a losing record. It is amazing. Well,
we did have a Jacksonville win at Denver that was
a little amazing because the Broncos had won eleven in
a row. Bownicks threw for over three hundred and fifty
yards one touchdown. He also had one interception, one fumble,

(01:17:41):
and the Broncos, who were seven and zero at home,
were beaten by the Jaguars thirty four to twenty. Trevor
Lawrence all four tds, two hundred and seventy nine yards passing.
The Jaguars run defense is number one in the league.
They allow under ninety yards rushing per game two teams.
It was only about one hundred yards rushing for Denver today.
Now the Broncos by far lead the league in sacks. Again,

(01:18:04):
they're over sixty sacks as a team. This was a
seventeen all tie game in the third quarter. Jacksonville wins
at Parker, Washington, six catches, one hundred and forty five
yards and a TD. Chargers are eleven and four, same
as Jacksonville after a win at Dallas thirty four to seventeen,
and the Chargers trailed late in the first half seventeen
to fourteen. Justin Herbert had three hundred yards passing twenty

(01:18:26):
three of twenty nine three total touchdowns. The quarterback had
eight carries for forty two yards, and the Chargers, as
you mentioned earlier, have won seven of eight. They've been
great since they finally got the rest. That one loss
in this long stretch was when they got slaughtered at Jacksonville.
Omarion Hampton's back into the lineup recently. The first round
running back had sixteen carries, eighty five yards and a score. Today.

(01:18:49):
Dallas had been officially eliminated yesterday with the Philadelphia victory.
The Cowboys season. It's pretty easy to parse out. They
average twenty nine points game, but they allow thirty points
a game, which is worse in the NFC. Chargers scored
more than that today. In fact, Chargers had over four
hundred and fifty yards. The Buffalo win at Cleveland was

(01:19:11):
twenty three to twenty. It was a twenty three to
ten lead late third quarter, and next Sunday, Buffalo host Philadelphia.
Josh Allen played through a foot injury only one hundred
thirty yards passing, but the Bills do have the best
rush offense in the league, about one hundred and sixty
yards a game. On the ground, Cook's been on fire.
James Cook alone had one seventeen on only sixteen carries

(01:19:32):
and a couple of touchdowns. Jeez Brown's running back quin
Shawn Judkins was carted off with.

Speaker 1 (01:19:37):
What his coach said, terrible what happened now.

Speaker 5 (01:19:39):
A broken leg and a dislocated ankle shout Shador Sanders
one touchdown, two interceptions. He did have four carries forty
nine yards and the Bucks have lost six of seven.
Lost twenty three to twenty at Carolina Baker Mayfield with
one touchdown, one late interception and.

Speaker 3 (01:19:55):
It was a backbreaker too.

Speaker 2 (01:19:56):

not as cool as you. Well, I'm doing Christmas. I
always do Christmas. So I'm sitting there with Harmon on Christmas,
and I'm just doing the day after Christmas on Thursday
and Friday. So that's a lot. That's two shows.

Speaker 4 (01:21:13):
What about next week we're doing the show together. Oh
I can't wake after that.

Speaker 2 (01:21:17):
Yeah, twenty ninth, and then I got bin on the thirtieth,
so it'll be fun week. I'm excited about it. I
was during the break. During the break, I was doing
some work for my local show, so I was listening
to something from the game on Friday night, and it
just kicked me back into this stage of grief where
I know mustang mania. I know you want to make

(01:21:38):
fun of me because Texas, Texas, and it's amazing, big game.
What are you guys in, like the pulling Weed Eater Bowl,
the Pop Top Bowl or something you guys all celebrating. Now,
it's fine, but I was a part of something pretty
amazing on Friday night, aren't even It sucks and my
team couldn't pull it out. But I'm now in this
mode of I hate everything, So yeah, forgets you for

(01:22:00):
having a fill in when I don't. You're taking food
off my daughter's playing. I hate you right now. Arnie
Spaniel couple.

Speaker 4 (01:22:07):
Yeah, we're doing We're doing the Monday, the twenty ninth.
Uh so we're doing after that and that's that's a Monday. Yeah,
we're feeling it on. Usually I don't do back to
back shows, that's right, No, right.

Speaker 1 (01:22:18):
You can't.

Speaker 2 (01:22:18):
You have such a busy week, you can't do back
to back shows. When what else do you have going on?

Speaker 4 (01:22:24):
The father we gotta do Monday, Wednesday, Friday. I won't
do back to back.

Speaker 1 (01:22:27):
Shows, all right.

Speaker 2 (01:22:28):
I want to hit some of these tweets on the
NFL week that was. But it's your choice tweets first,
or do you want to get to what we know
after the we What do we three weeks? So we
got two more weeks left in the season. So what
your choice? You want to go with the tweets or
what we.

Speaker 1 (01:22:43):
Go with the tweets first? Let's let's start with that.
Let's see what all right?

Speaker 2 (01:22:45):
Colin like literally just sent this in and I think
it's a great point. Here writes, it's time to say
enough is enough with the taunting penalty. The NFL is
turning into polite old man baseball when you can't do
anything fun or show off. I agree with that, and
now I know, Colin, we'd like a specific example.

Speaker 3 (01:23:03):
But are we getting carried away with the tawny penalies?
I think, so, what do you think?

Speaker 4 (01:23:07):
I don't I don't think it's that big of a deal.
I don't even know how many we've gotten called over
the course of the year. I think for the most part,
we're letting it go. Chris, Remember, I mean, we can
take this thing back. What twenty twenty five years, Oh
my goodness, you couldn't get away with squat.

Speaker 1 (01:23:22):
They'd be throwing the flag on you know.

Speaker 4 (01:23:24):
Remember it was like the No Fun League we used
to call it, but you'd get penal life for just
about anything.

Speaker 1 (01:23:29):
So I think we've certainly, you know, make it it
a little better. Yeah, I got a lot better, a lot.

Speaker 2 (01:23:34):
What was it that the Washington at the time Redskins
would do, were they with the fun bunch? The fun Bunch, right,
They'd get in their little circle and they do their
celebration and they'd banned it. So the nf SO Sports
Illustrated had a headline that said, NFL No fund League.

Speaker 3 (01:23:50):
We've come a little bit away from that way.

Speaker 1 (01:23:52):
What the first celebration? Guy? You know who that was?
I think?

Speaker 3 (01:23:56):
Who do you think it was?

Speaker 4 (01:23:57):
Billy White Shoos Johnson probably you know he's trying touchdown.

Speaker 2 (01:24:01):
And I was gonna guess Mark Gastono, but I think
you're right. I think Billy Wes Houston Johnson was it.

Speaker 1 (01:24:08):
Josh.

Speaker 2 (01:24:09):
Josh writes, thinking back to your statement last week about
how bad the QB progression with the Colts has been
in bringing back rivers, today seemed to have a lot
of bad QB play across the league. Again, I where
where's the disconnect, Where's what's happening in the league where
our quarterback play is so bad?

Speaker 1 (01:24:28):
It is?

Speaker 4 (01:24:28):
And I even put this one in quarter Roman number
number twenty of my course. Some of these quarterbacks like
who is who is the guy from South Dakota State
playing today.

Speaker 3 (01:24:38):
For the Vikings?

Speaker 8 (01:24:40):
Guy?

Speaker 1 (01:24:40):
Oh, the guy for Kansas City? Yeah, the guy kind
of google him? Yeah? The guy for Minnesota was what
Max brahmser?

Speaker 2 (01:24:47):
Yeah, he played a couple of times before he ended
up finishing his career at Minnesota.

Speaker 1 (01:24:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:24:52):
Uh, what's funny is the guy's Gardner Minshew quarterbacking the
Kansas City Chiefs and probably a allowing the Raiders to
beat them in a couple of weeks. It's gonna be
the ultimate punch in my face for we so we
can't get Dante more or our Mendoza. But I was
I don't know how I ended up watching some of
the Chiefs game today, but I was doing an actual

(01:25:14):
Google search on and I'm right, Chris Ola Docin.

Speaker 1 (01:25:18):
I had no idea who that guy was quarterback? Yeah,
I had no idea.

Speaker 4 (01:25:22):
That's why came up with the Roman numeral, like who
are some of these guys that are playing quarterback out there?

Speaker 2 (01:25:27):
He was a seventh round draft pick of the Pittsburgh
Steelers in twenty twenty two. I mean, and again, I'm
not dogging on the Chiefs man, when you get to
your third quarterback, I'm not expecting to see you roll out.
I don't know Tom Brady or anything, but whenever we're
watching in a game, a guy that has basically been fighting.

(01:25:47):
He played at three colleges. He was at South Florida,
he was at Samford, who was at South Dakota State.
He was a part of the Steelers practice squad for
one year and then it was basically a Chiefs emergency choice.
Dude was in college for like six years. It reminds
me of Tommy Boy. A lot of people go to
college for seven years. Yeah, they're called doctors. You know.
It's just that's what college football is right now with

(01:26:09):
the quarterback class. But why, I mean, why are these
guys that I thought were pretty good in college. Why
are we not seeing them being able to elevate their
game and become more consistent contributors in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (01:26:23):
It just doesn't make a lot of sense.

Speaker 4 (01:26:24):
So you can start with yours, who was pretty good
at Texas. It's not gonna work out for you, so
you should think about selling insurance or that.

Speaker 2 (01:26:32):
I never I never saw anything from that game outside
of Joe Burrow touchdowns.

Speaker 3 (01:26:36):
That's all the red zone had.

Speaker 4 (01:26:38):
It was like another two out there, except for he
was right handed. I don't know, it just it didn't
make a difference. I was like, oh, now we've found
their quarterback. We're really sitting good for Were you hoping
for that?

Speaker 1 (01:26:50):
Yeah? I was. I know. I'm like this because we did.
I put Quinn yours of my preseason Hall of Fame.
I don't know if you remember that.

Speaker 3 (01:26:57):
Yeah, he was on fire in the preseason.

Speaker 1 (01:26:59):
It was a great game.

Speaker 2 (01:27:00):
Speaking of that, James right, Chiefs fan paging Uncle Rico.
We need a quarterback to finish the season. No, you
don't just just stay with the guys you got because well, no,
they're gonna be another quarterback, Holy smokes, because Minshew's done.
Yeahs is done. The dude we never heard of. I mean, Chris,
what I say, Ola Dakin? I mean is that your guy? Now?

Speaker 1 (01:27:21):
Is Carson Wentz still out there and available?

Speaker 3 (01:27:23):
Wasn't?

Speaker 1 (01:27:23):
I think they're gonna sign one Dawson. That's the rumor.

Speaker 4 (01:27:27):
Alright, p Arnie Away, I'm sorry, I'm pretty hold on
a second, I know it.

Speaker 3 (01:27:34):
Yeah, he passed away in twenty twenty two.

Speaker 4 (01:27:36):
Okay, Elvis Skirback is he He's still alive, so we
can bring.

Speaker 1 (01:27:39):
Back Gosh, Elvis Skirback is dead too, dude, No he's not.
Stop it. I'm kidding.

Speaker 2 (01:27:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:27:46):
A couple of tweets to get to here, this one.

Speaker 3 (01:27:50):
I was thinking to Ryan Mallett.

Speaker 2 (01:27:51):
Johnny writes, do you think Arthur Smith from Pittsburgh might
be up for some head coaches jobs this year? Head
coaching positions this year? He failed as a head coach
in Atlanta. He's done a nice job with Aaron Rodgers
at Pittsburgh, but I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:28:09):
The retread kind of path.

Speaker 2 (01:28:11):
Do you think that's gonna be the way we see
some teams go, Like the Giants need a new coach,
the Titans are gonna need a new coach. I think
Tennessee could be interesting for Arthur Smith, But I don't
know what do you think?

Speaker 4 (01:28:22):
Well, again, if I'm not falling for one of those
fogus reports, NFL rumors put out that the Browns wanted
to reach out to Bill Belichick once they get rid
of Stefanski. I'm not sure I would do both. If
he ho with you, I'm I'm not sure i'd get
rid of Stefanski. And if I did, I'm not sure
if I'm going to be reaching out to Bill Belichick.

Speaker 1 (01:28:41):
Do you know what?

Speaker 2 (01:28:42):
I'll make this prediction right now. I think Arthur Smith
is going to be the next head coach of the Titans.
I think that that would be a good fit. That's
where he had his most success, where he kind of developed,
you know, and it kind of grew his brand right,
and then he went to and Land. Know, I didn't
think he was I mean, he went seven, he went

(01:29:04):
seven and ten. I think every year he was at Atlanta.
But I think I think Arthur Smith would be a
good fit in Tennessee. That wouldn't surprise me at all.

Speaker 1 (01:29:12):
There was some rumors about the Kansas City O see
Matt Naggy.

Speaker 3 (01:29:16):
Would you want him? I mean, what has he done
this year?

Speaker 2 (01:29:19):
Yeah, I'm just saying overall, he did an okay job
with the Bears. But I guess he declined an offer
to stay with the Chiefs, so I don't know what
that means. Maybe he was gonna be up for other jobs.
But listen, if the Raiders hire Matt Naggy, Arnie, I am,

(01:29:40):
You're gonna need to come see me because I'm gonna
need help.

Speaker 1 (01:29:43):
It's I thought it was for the Yeah about thinking
more for the Titans is what I was hearing. But
oh good, okay, keep it. Yeah. I would not would
be for your Raiders if he was.

Speaker 2 (01:29:51):
I'm not even I'm named ken you right now. I'm
trying to keep my my my head, my wits about me.
But if that was something that was being rumored in
in Vegas, I would not be in a good place.
But who's the big name out there this offseason? Is
it Bill Belichick? To try to get him to come
back to the NFL. Things went well at North Carolina. No,
but that doesn't mean anything. I mean, look what he's

(01:30:12):
accomplished in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (01:30:14):
Brady or no, Brady would all those Super Bowls are
You'd be crazy not to take a flyer on him
if you're one of those down enfranchises.

Speaker 2 (01:30:21):
Oh gosh, I can't wait for some Bill Belichick rumors
this offseason.

Speaker 1 (01:30:26):
By the way, I have a rumor to ask you.

Speaker 4 (01:30:27):
I forgot to ask you when we were talking college football,
so I wanted to ask you the rumor about what
Nick Saban is drue about how he's complaining that the
the the people down there are Texas A and M
pipe in crowd noise and you're not allowed to do it,
and he doesn't give it damn what they say.

Speaker 1 (01:30:47):
He knows they're doing it.

Speaker 2 (01:30:48):
So I just was curious, you really piping in crowd
noise at Kyle Field.

Speaker 1 (01:30:54):
That sounds sarcastic. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I
don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:30:57):
I've never been to Kyle Field. I've never been there. Yeah,
so I don't know. That seems to be a pretty
huge claim. Saban's been very opinionated recently. He wants a
group of five out of the playoffs, so do I
But I mean it's just it seems pretty Did they
find NFL teams for that didn't like the Saints or.

Speaker 1 (01:31:19):
At least no notes against the rule.

Speaker 2 (01:31:23):
I'm gonna tell you right now from what I've been told,
if you've been to Kyle Field, if they're piping in
crowd noise, then you would not be able to hear
for the next three weeks because what they do with
their fans, and they're insane fan base probably tops any
other crowd that's out there. So Saban can say that
all he wants, but I don't think it's true. I

(01:31:44):
got your back on this one, Aggie fans. I know
you're you're going through it like we are right now.
But at least we scored a few touchs.

Speaker 8 (01:31:49):
No.

Speaker 4 (01:31:49):
But by the way, no, no offense to the AGI
fans out there. That's the one college against why every
year and what Arizona State too, because I dated a
girl in college after college that went to Texas A
and M and then she.

Speaker 1 (01:32:07):
Broke up with me.

Speaker 3 (01:32:09):
So I mean, you ended up with Bath, wasn't it.

Speaker 1 (01:32:11):
I did. That was a good thing, but you know
I did.

Speaker 4 (01:32:13):
She had a little bit of an attitude, and it
was always about how great her school was. And I
remember making an Aggie joke once and she started to cry.

Speaker 1 (01:32:22):
I mean she took it so seriously.

Speaker 4 (01:32:23):
It's like everything was so much about Texas A and
m is and gig him that and Texas A and
m that.

Speaker 1 (01:32:29):
And gig HIMNZ.

Speaker 3 (01:32:30):
Don't you want that?

Speaker 1 (01:32:31):
Come on, it's not like she went to Arizona.

Speaker 2 (01:32:35):
Every single time someone brings up Arizona and you haven't
had half the success at A and m has had.

Speaker 1 (01:32:40):
Oh stop it, come on.

Speaker 2 (01:32:42):
Let's see what else do we have next? You cla Dodger, Frank.
If there was ever anyone that had all my allegiances
in one name, it's Frank.

Speaker 3 (01:32:50):
He writes.

Speaker 2 (01:32:51):
You just know Tua is going to sign with the
Jets in the offseason and beat the Dolphins twice next season. Yeah,
the Jets might might go two and fifteen anyway, but
the games against the Dolphins will be to a super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (01:33:03):
Oh jeez, you know what.

Speaker 2 (01:33:04):
To be clear, he's not a free agent. They've got
to trade him, just to be clear.

Speaker 4 (01:33:08):
But they are going to trade him, and they have
to trade him this year because I think it's the
least amount of money, Chris, I mean, you're better at
that stuff than I think he is.

Speaker 1 (01:33:16):
My my capologist, pre yes, that's true. I think I
think you're a six million or something like that. I
think the two teams right now the top landing spot
for TUA would be the Raiders and would be the
Jets at least at least I think.

Speaker 2 (01:33:30):
So, I would guess that the Raiders are going to
draft a quarterback. I don't think they're going to go
get to a I think that they're going to be
a top Now.

Speaker 3 (01:33:41):
It sucks because the Jets.

Speaker 2 (01:33:43):
I would never have imagined that the final two games
on the Raiders' schedule, the Giants and the Chiefs, I
would look at and say they should win those games.
But here I am sitting here right now saying they
should win those games. And I loved today's Raiders Texans game, Arnie.
I watched all four quarters.

Speaker 4 (01:34:02):
We're going to pull it out. I'm like, good, they're
playing a tough game right now.

Speaker 1 (01:34:05):
As did I. As did I.

Speaker 2 (01:34:08):
But I found myself late in that game having this conversation.
There are so many times in your life where you've
sat around this same time of the year with a
team that sucks, but you want him to win and
they win a game when you're so happy. They win
a game and you feel good about things, and then
you know what happens the next year they suck again.
It's time to go ahead and realize you need your

(01:34:30):
quarterback for the feature.

Speaker 1 (01:34:31):
You want Mendoza. Oh shucks, you want men to come.

Speaker 2 (01:34:35):
I tell you what, Dante Moore look pretty damn good.
I'm I'm not out on him yet. Does he look
pretty good?

Speaker 1 (01:34:40):
Doesn't he come off a little hokey?

Speaker 2 (01:34:43):
But I'm in Vegas, baby, I can't have anyone that's
too cool.

Speaker 1 (01:34:46):
Man, You're too in Vegas.

Speaker 2 (01:34:48):
He is, so he is, he is, But he'll be
out early because Alabama's gonna beat him in a couple
of weeks. Here's what you must uh real quick before
you get the Mustang mania. This is what Brendan said.
The Raiders had a moral victory today.

Speaker 1 (01:35:02):
He's right.

Speaker 2 (01:35:03):
One little problem. They don't exist in the NFL. They
have two games left to show the NFL they belong there.
They get the New York Giants and the Kansas City Chiefs,
both easily winnable games. If they don't win one or
more than the NFL should investigate them.

Speaker 1 (01:35:20):
WHI should put them in the Big twelve that they
might work, might win. Go five hundred.

Speaker 2 (01:35:25):
You haven't watched the Raiders. I want them in like
the America all right, put them down another level. Speaking
of that, Ty writes, at this point, I'm waiting to
see which of the four Dolphins Arizona, Oh you are
the Raiders win a playoff game. First, I don't think
any of them have won a playoff game since Arnie
and Playing teamed up. They are cursing each other. Well,

(01:35:47):
that's true, that's true.

Speaker 4 (01:35:48):
I haven't Dolphins have not had a playoff win since
we've done the show.

Speaker 1 (01:35:51):
No, that's true.

Speaker 3 (01:35:52):
Raiders made the playoffs one year, but that was about it.

Speaker 2 (01:35:54):
Two made the playoffs one year, and two years Raiders
have made it. OU's made the playoffs four or five times.
It's kind of weird. It's funny. My wife, uh my
wife today said I think they're spreading fake news on Facebook,
and I was like why, She goes, well, oh, use
won a national championship, right, I'm like, yeah, they won
seven of them, she goes, And why do people keep

(01:36:15):
saying that they haven't won a playoff game? And It
was literally a moment where I felt like my heart
has been stabbed.

Speaker 1 (01:36:20):
I was like, oh see.

Speaker 2 (01:36:23):
They the stay called the playoffs now before it was
the BCS, the A people that figured it out. And
you realize and by the way, Arnie, in the expanded playoffs,
your Wildcats would have been in this year.

Speaker 1 (01:36:34):
You know that if there was twenty four.

Speaker 3 (01:36:37):
Well now I think sixteen they would have been in there.

Speaker 4 (01:36:39):
I'm not sure about that because we were I think
like fourth in the Big twelve though.

Speaker 1 (01:36:44):
It was by rankings though right that was by rankings
looking a final rankings.

Speaker 2 (01:36:48):
Yeah, so I and I think we're going to sixteen.
I think we're going to sixteen, and I think we're
booting out the group of five. I think they're gonna
say that they'll have a group of five. This is
my prediction. No for reporting or anything behind it, just prediction.
They'll say if a group of five team is in
the top ten, then they're eligible to make the playoffs

(01:37:09):
and that'll be the only way you can get in.

Speaker 4 (01:37:10):
Overall, were you're okay with JMU and Tulane when days
over and no in they're not at all? But not
that that you thought they were gonna win, but at
least being in there. But they deserved the chance. And
I said this before, Chris, the best sport we have
is March madness, or the best you know, time we
have is March madness. And what you're taking off the

(01:37:30):
one thing we love about March madness is the sixteen
seeds in the upset. And you're taking that away from
us in football, saying you don't like that when we
love it in basketball?

Speaker 1 (01:37:42):
Yeah, did you watch those two games? Well? Now, but
how long did it go before sixteen seed finally beat
the number one seed?

Speaker 2 (01:37:49):
Though?

Speaker 1 (01:37:49):
Okay, well did you watch you you may? Yes, I
did watch boys? Okay, did you watch Boise State last year? No?

Speaker 2 (01:37:57):
Probably not? Yeah, they got smoked. I mean, it's just
it's you're comparing apples and oranges. There's five guys on
the court in basketball. There's eleven on the field in football,
and you have a roster that's like eighty plus people. Yeah,
it's never gonna be equal, not gonna happen. You don't
think you'll ever get the other. No, unless Arizona plays
the first round game.

Speaker 1 (01:38:18):
You had to get that. Well, when they you know,
it's funny when they do expand the twenty four. They're
not gonna expand it twenty four. I don't think.

Speaker 3 (01:38:25):
So you go, if you feel that way, go for it.

Speaker 2 (01:38:28):
I think they're going they're gonna go sixteen tops, and
I think they might expand a fourteen for next year if.

Speaker 4 (01:38:35):
We ever go to if we ever go to twenty four,
whatever it is. We got to get rid of these
ball games. I know you they won't do that.

Speaker 3 (01:38:40):
But here's my plan.

Speaker 2 (01:38:42):
All right, you pretty much have anyway, but you take
because you used to have the New Year's Day six,
and I know we got a break breath. I'm sorry,
but you have the New Year's Day six and now
those are all part of the college football playoffs.

Speaker 1 (01:38:53):
Well let's separate it.

Speaker 2 (01:38:55):
Then you have a group of five playoffs, and then
you can have your LA Bowl and you're pulling Weed
Eater Bowl and all of them be first round games
for those matchupsing.

Speaker 1 (01:39:04):
I was watching one of the games, I forget which one.

Speaker 4 (01:39:07):
There was three people there me watching the I might
as well have been there, though it might have been four.

Speaker 1 (01:39:12):
It was. It was embarrassing.

Speaker 4 (01:39:14):
Seriously, I'm not kidding the right It was embarrassing into
the lack of people.

Speaker 1 (01:39:18):
Go into these.

Speaker 2 (01:39:18):
Whenever I was in college, my alma mater, the University
of Tulsen, made a bowl game, and it was the
greatest celebration ever. Now it's like, if you don't make
a bowl game, it's the most embarrassing thing that can
happen to your football program.

Speaker 1 (01:39:30):
That's crazy.

Speaker 2 (01:39:30):
All right, when we come back, what we learned after
a wild week in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (01:39:35):
Next right here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (01:39:50):
By the way, I just Mary Mac, did you think
the Lions had won the game on that last play?

Speaker 3 (01:39:54):
I waited two hours.

Speaker 2 (01:39:56):
In twenty seven minutes to ask, did you think they
had won the game?

Speaker 1 (01:40:00):
Hell? Yeah, Yeah, I did too.

Speaker 10 (01:40:02):
I was very I screamed when uh the first touchdown,
and then when they had to like run it back,
I was like all right, and I kind of got
like anxious with every like first and goal, second goal.

Speaker 2 (01:40:12):
And then and then yeah, I'm surprised they got back
in that game.

Speaker 1 (01:40:16):
To be honest with you, we're the Lions.

Speaker 4 (01:40:20):
Yeah, I liked that the fans were cheering when they
didn't realize that it wasn't a touchdout even after the
rev said no, no touchdown, and then they're like, yeah,
it is a touchdown.

Speaker 1 (01:40:29):
We win what it was.

Speaker 10 (01:40:30):
But then like cause you could hear the booze at first,
and then like he still kept talking and I was like, okay,
like you said touchdown and then they're like, however, I
was like.

Speaker 2 (01:40:39):
However, however, when they hit it, However, I thought that
there were past interference Someone tweeted earlier about tawning penalties.
We did have a serious conversation about past interference. When
did we just do away with the uncatchable rule? I
was watching again, like I said, the Raiders lost. It

(01:41:01):
is a weird thing right now written for a tank.
But there was literally a ball that was thrown out
of bounds, ten yards out of bounds, and they called
They didn't call holding, they call pass interference.

Speaker 1 (01:41:11):
Well, jeez, so is that not a rule anymore? Did
they change it? Was it is?

Speaker 4 (01:41:15):
But they'll play around with it and say, uh, you know,
holding and do it like that. If it's a twoly
or not a catchuble pass, they'll change the word hey.

Speaker 2 (01:41:24):
But by the way, again, now we're two hours and
twenty nine minutes into the show. I can't believe we
haven't talked at all about your knicks. I mean, you
should be on cloud nine right now, right, you guys
won the NBA Cup. Everything's good.

Speaker 1 (01:41:37):
Won the NBA Cup, No big deal, we're just are
you can hang a banner. We're just stalling until we
go ahead and you know, win the whole thing. This
is our year.

Speaker 4 (01:41:46):
Look good by Arizona Wildcats are doing What are you
talking about there?

Speaker 1 (01:41:51):
I told you who's the first to tell you that
they weren't going to lose a game all year? Uh?
Well again?

Speaker 2 (01:41:56):
You you have until, like you know, but two weeks
for the end of the year. So I think you're
gonna be good because you're playing like what Northern Arizona
and someone this week. So you gotta win two market
this year.

Speaker 1 (01:42:07):
We won't losing the Big twelve either. You will lose
in the Big twelve. No, we're not. We're not gonna
who's going to beat us? Kansas? Kansas? Stop? But they
did no good this year, right, everyone's terrible. Arnie.

Speaker 3 (01:42:18):
I will I will bet you my job, and you
want to put yours on the line.

Speaker 4 (01:42:24):
If Arizona goes undefeated, I get the call it Oklahoma
val Oklahoma a softball game with you?

Speaker 3 (01:42:30):
Okay, great?

Speaker 2 (01:42:31):
Yeah, absolutely anyone you want, and you can think anyone
you want.

Speaker 1 (01:42:36):
Why you hear you would be real nervous. I gave
that to thee.

Speaker 2 (01:42:40):
I'm not nervous at all, because you're not going to
go undefeated in the Big Twelve.

Speaker 3 (01:42:43):
Teams will go in to feed.

Speaker 2 (01:42:45):
I know you want to clown on the Big Twelve
in all because you don't know anything about other guys.

Speaker 3 (01:42:49):
Very it's it's the best league in basketball.

Speaker 1 (01:42:52):
It is now.

Speaker 2 (01:42:53):
If you go undefeed it, then you might be the
number one, number one seed, and you might do what
Indiana did in what's seventy two, seventy three?

Speaker 1 (01:42:59):
Yeah, they lost. They didn't win the whole theme that year?
Did they? Indiana went undefeated? That went undefeated? Yeah, Isaiah Thomas?
Was that what I was gonna say, Ken Benson? But
that wasn't him, was it? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:43:10):
Yeah, you're right?

Speaker 1 (01:43:11):
Was it him? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:43:12):
It's the last college basketball team to ever go undefeated,
and it was hold on, he double checked my seventy five,
seventy six I was close.

Speaker 3 (01:43:21):
I was close.

Speaker 2 (01:43:21):
Nineteen seventy five, seventy six. Quinn Buckner was on that team.

Speaker 1 (01:43:25):
Yes, yes, I knew that.

Speaker 2 (01:43:26):
Thirty two and oh yeah they went that season. Ken
Benson was there.

Speaker 3 (01:43:30):
I was wrong.

Speaker 2 (01:43:30):
Isaiah Thomas was not on that team, but I was close.
You know their head coach was Bobby Knight.

Speaker 4 (01:43:35):
Yeah, Kareem Abdul Jabbar punched Benson in the face.

Speaker 1 (01:43:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:43:41):
I watched that video every now and then when I
need to feel better about my lot in line. All right, hey,
listen one final time tonight, Steve, the saga is in
with what's trending?

Speaker 1 (01:43:48):
So Steve, get us caught up on everything in the
world of sports.

Speaker 3 (01:43:51):
What's going on?

Speaker 1 (01:43:52):
Hello?

Speaker 5 (01:43:52):
And I just read that the Kansas Jayhawks of two
thousand and two are still the only Big twelve team
to finish an undefeated regular season at sixteen and zero
in that league.

Speaker 3 (01:44:04):
That was before Baylor got good.

Speaker 5 (01:44:06):
It has been a while, of.

Speaker 1 (01:44:08):
Course, we should have no problem with that league now.

Speaker 5 (01:44:10):
Now, Houston's been fairly good in recent years in that company. Yeah,
you know, the whole final.

Speaker 1 (01:44:17):
Fourth Benship game.

Speaker 5 (01:44:21):
We repeated this once or twice early in the show
for those who weren't with us. What's coming up in
the NFL Tomorrow night is Indianapolis losers of five of six,
hosting San Francisco. Jacksonville clinches a playoff spot tomorrow with
an Indie loss. Jaguars won today. Chargers clinch a playoff
spot tomorrow with an Indie loss. Chargers one today. Buffalo

(01:44:43):
will clinch a playoff spot tomorrow with an Indianapolis loss.
Buffalo one today, and Yes, New England won tonight to
clinch a playoff birth. They're up to twelve and three,
still undefeated on the road. They wonted Baltimore twenty eight
twenty four with two touchdowns in the last ten minutes.
Ravens scored. Lamar Jackson left late first half with a
bruised back after taking a hit. New England running back

(01:45:06):
Traveon Henderson left with a concussion. The Pats had won
ten in a row until last Sunday's loss against Buffalo.
Drake May three hundred eighty yards passing tonight, two touchdowns,
two turnovers, and Stefan Diggs had nine receptions in the win,
one hundred thirty eight yards, Dereck Henry and early fumble.
He had two touchdown runs and defeat eighteen carries one
hundred and twenty eight yards, But the Ravens are now

(01:45:28):
two games behind Pittsburgh in the division with two games
left in the season, including the finale at Pittsburgh. We'll
see if it means something. The Steelers could clinch next weekend,
depending on how things go. Pittsburgh was the winner in
that close game of Detroit twenty nine to twenty four.
The Lions' loss clinch playoff spots for San Francisco and Chicago.

(01:45:50):
Jalen Warren on only fourteen carries, had one hundred forty
three yards and two scores. The Lions apparent td on
the final play was nullified by the offensive passater fear
Detroit will play on Christmas at Minnesota. You mentioned Justin
Jefferson earlier in the show. The star wide receiver of
Minnesota had six more catches today eighty five yards in
the close win at the Giants. Since he entered the

(01:46:13):
league this is six seasons now, he has five hundred
and sixty seven catches. Wow, the most by any player
in his first six seasons in the league, and Ceedee
Lamb is close to that number. Minnesota's win was against
a Giants team that's now lost nine in a row.
Jefferson not only starred, but Aaron Jones had eighty five
yards rushing. Each team with eleven penalties. Here, linebacker Blake

(01:46:36):
Cashman of the Vikings sixteen tackles. Quarterback JJ McCarthy left
with a right hand injury at one TD run, one interception,
one fumble. The Vikings are worst in the NFC in
turnover margin, it's now a minus fourteen, but they were
playing the Giants, so it was a low scoring victory
and they'll take it. Jackson Dart had thirty three yards

(01:46:56):
passing for the game, seven of thirteen one inn The
Giants only TD was on a fumble return. They only
had one hundred and forty one total yards. Sacked five
times Atlanta one at Arizona twenty six nineteen. Cardinals have
lost seven in a row. On field goals, the Cards
were four for six. Michael Wilson only two catches, one

(01:47:16):
for touchdown, Marvin Harrison Junior one reception, Kirk Cousins three
total tds, two turnovers. Falcons had trailed thirteen to three
in the first app but did win on the road.
Bijon Robinson one hundred and sixty eight total yards in
a score, including seven receptions. Houston won at seventh straight
edging Los Vegas twenty three to twenty one. Vegas has
lost nine in a row. Like the Giants, They're facing

(01:47:38):
each other in Vegas next weekend. Aston genty was superb
today one hundred and twenty eight yards rushing in a
touchdown plus a sixty yard TD catch. See what happens
when he doesn't get hit in the backfield right after
the handout.

Speaker 1 (01:47:51):
Welcome to the NFL.

Speaker 5 (01:47:52):
How about that Gino Smith through an early pick six
and the Raiders lose by two. Raiders offense eleven drives,
twelve first out Las Vegas had nine penalties seven punts
as well. Raiders have the worst offense in the NFL
fourteen points a game. Tennessee the second worst offense in
the league, and they won against whatever's left of the
Chiefs twenty six to nine. Of course, quarterback Patrick Mahomes

(01:48:15):
of Case is out with torn knee ligaments. Quarterback today
Gardner Minshew left with a knee injury. They fear it's
a torn acl. Kansas City's offense ten drives, nine first downs,
only one hundred and thirty three yards, ten penalties for
the Chiefs, twelve for Tennessee the winning team. Also today,
Jacksonville won its sixth straight a win at Denver thirty

(01:48:38):
four to twenty Trevor Lawrence with four touchdowns nearly two
hundred eighty yards passing. The Broncos had been seven to
zero at home. Next Sunday, Jacksonville at Indy. And by
the way, the red zone defense for Denver, we talked
about the defense before, that alone makes them a playoff contender.
It's the best red zone defense in the league. Under
forty percent touchdowns against them, and yet today the red

(01:49:00):
hot Jags four to five on touchdowns once they got
that deep. Also on the weekend schedule, let's not forget
Texans play at the LA Chargers this Saturday. That was
a game that was flexed off of the Sunday schedule.
Buffalo's eleven and four after holding on twenty three to
twenty at Cleveland, it had been twenty three to ten
late in the third quarter. Carolina edged Tampa Bay twenty

(01:49:21):
three to twenty. New Orleans and Cincinnati with wins as well.
The NBA late game went to Sacramento in overtime by
a point over Houston at New York, Jalen Brunson forty
seven points in a win against Miami. Chicago won one
fifty two to one fifty at Atlanta College Hoops number seven,
Gonzaga beat Oregon in Portland, Purdue Fort Wayne won at

(01:49:42):
Notre Dame, and Pitt beat up Penn State. Michigan football
assistant Chip Lindsay left to become offensive coordinator at Missouri
Women's basketball Iowa State now thirteen and OH won at
the buzzer against Kansas. Texas Tech fourteen and OH won
by a point against Baylor with a couple of late
free throws. DA Women's Volleyball title to Texas A and
m n HL victories for Colorado and Dallas.

Speaker 1 (01:50:05):
Back to you, thanks, Steve, have a great week, buddy.
Merry Christmas to you, my friend to you as well. Well, Arnie,
doesn't do you celebrate Christmas still? Or no? No, I'm
working on Christmas. I'm guessing.

Speaker 2 (01:50:17):
So you gave the Saga the night off, so you're
on Friday or Thursday and Friday night?

Speaker 1 (01:50:23):
Yes? Yes?

Speaker 3 (01:50:24):
Who you with?

Speaker 1 (01:50:25):
I am with Mike Harmon. Oh, Harmon's gonna work on Christmas?
I asked, him. I'm like, are you sure you want
to be working Christmas? But what he heard it was.

Speaker 2 (01:50:33):
Going to be me right, I'm sure that's whenever he
just jumped and said, I gotta do this.

Speaker 1 (01:50:37):
I can't have Christmas with the family. I gotta be
with you.

Speaker 2 (01:50:40):
Listen, when you have a nice car and you finally
get a chance to drive, maybe you take every opportunity
you can get, right, I mean nine one A is
a nice car. So when you get a chance to
drive it and you don't have to worry about your
your your buddy drive and it's like, I'll drive that
car of a chance I get, even if your passenger
is arny.

Speaker 1 (01:51:00):
You're right, you know.

Speaker 5 (01:51:01):
There are three NFL games on Christmas.

Speaker 1 (01:51:04):
All focus ones, all both and they're.

Speaker 5 (01:51:06):
All streaming unless your whole market team is playing. But yeah, bogus,
the NBA must be doing backflips because they thought they
were going to get crushed again this Christmas. Dallas Washington
is the first game. Eliminated teams Detroit all but eliminated
at Minnesota, and then Denver at Kansas City.

Speaker 1 (01:51:24):
What do you mean all streaming?

Speaker 5 (01:51:25):
Like on it is not any regular channels for any
of the three on Thursday, correct, and Netflix played a
boatload for their Christmas games. And then the Saturday night
game that's coming up Baltimore Green Bay. That's Peacock only
this Saturday night. Again, unless you're in those two cities
in your market.

Speaker 2 (01:51:44):
But I will add, I think the NFL is the
only sport where if your team is eliminated from the playoffs,
you'll still watch your stupid team that couldn't make the playoffs. Absolutely,
and it will still do bonkers numbers over the way.

Speaker 1 (01:51:59):
I think.

Speaker 4 (01:51:59):
So, Hey, how many people have signed up for Netflix
that they could put the NFL on something like that?

Speaker 1 (01:52:05):
I mean, the readings have got it would be get crushed.
I guess. Well. I mean, it's not like the first
year we've done this, Arnie, we did it last year.

Speaker 5 (01:52:12):
I know.

Speaker 1 (01:52:12):
But it just they have to get a lower ratings
than Prime and all the other places, don't they? Or no,
I guess money talks everything else walks.

Speaker 2 (01:52:20):
Hey, man, we got WWE raw on Netflix. Now you
got big time broadcast on there, so you have to
Jake pawfight on their last night. You're doing huge numbers
on Netflix right now.

Speaker 1 (01:52:30):
Geez, I guess.

Speaker 2 (01:52:31):
I guess so We'll get some of your tweets when
we come back, because I want to make sure Arnie
has plenty of time for his picks, which apparently he
said has been unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (01:52:40):
It's been we don't have too many games.

Speaker 4 (01:52:42):
I'm not doing any college right because they're not till
the week after That's.

Speaker 2 (01:52:46):
Right, we got a week off for college. Yeah, but
what did you make of this tweet? This is from
at Happy for Life seven, who, by the way, seems
very happy for life, very negative in.

Speaker 1 (01:52:55):
Most of his tweets.

Speaker 2 (01:52:56):
I've noticed you you're happy for life, but he seems
to be kind of a little bit cynical. I feel you, though, Bro,
Why don't the Rams trade for Tua back to the
West Coast? Good backup for Stafford and will be done
soon anyway, And look for that. Look for what that
move did for Baker Mayfield. Yeah, Baker went to LA

(01:53:16):
and it kind of re energized his career.

Speaker 3 (01:53:19):
Did he's become the dude?

Speaker 7 (01:53:20):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:53:20):
The Rams don't need I mean, and he's not going
to be a backup anyway.

Speaker 3 (01:53:23):
Stafford's only got one more year left on his deal.

Speaker 1 (01:53:26):
That is true.

Speaker 4 (01:53:26):
I mean, I don't think Stafford's got much more time after.
He's not gonna play after that. Right, It's gonna be done.

Speaker 1 (01:53:31):
And that's it. I think.

Speaker 2 (01:53:33):
So I thought Stafford might be done. You tell me
all the time that he's done. I played off your
cues on this one.

Speaker 1 (01:53:41):
Right, I thought he would.

Speaker 4 (01:53:42):
I didn't think he'd even come back this year because
of that contract problem that he was having. But you
know what, they got it done. Good for him. Maybe
one more year, as you said, and that's it. He
certainly deserves it. I don't think he's gonna go any
longer than that. But two is not the answer. He's
not the air apparent there.

Speaker 2 (01:54:00):
How I think the Seger said they didn't feel like
it was too severe with the injury for Lamar Jackson.
But I mean, do we start asking You've always been
asking questions about Lamar Jackson, But where do the Ravens go?
I mean, do they say we got to run it
back again? Like there's gonna be some teams that have
big decisions to make this offseason.

Speaker 1 (01:54:20):
Detroit, what can you do with Baltimore Tampa?

Speaker 4 (01:54:23):
I mean, if they said, okay, we're putting them up
there to the highest bidder, how many.

Speaker 2 (01:54:28):
Teams you would have thirty teams that won them. No, no, yes,
absolutely no. If you put Lamar Jackson on the market,
everyone outside of Kansas City and Buffalo, well, I guess
what you've seen so far in Jacksonville. Maybe with Trevor
Lawrence this year, he would be You don't think teams
would want to go say Lamar Jackson.

Speaker 1 (01:54:47):
Seven teams would actually can really go after him.

Speaker 3 (01:54:51):
Do you want to do this game right now?

Speaker 2 (01:54:53):
I just do you want to go up and down
the list of who you Hey, Arnie, who would you
rather have Tua or Lamar Jackson?

Speaker 1 (01:54:59):
It's not about do you think the Jets would either
have Lamar Jackson?

Speaker 3 (01:55:03):
You think all right?

Speaker 2 (01:55:04):
You think the Steelers going forward in the future, do
you think didn't rather have Lamar Jackson?

Speaker 1 (01:55:08):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:55:09):
But I mean he comes okay with Cleveland Browns, how
about the Indianapolis Colts, how about the Tennessee Titans, how
about the Raiders.

Speaker 1 (01:55:15):
I mean that's seven teams right there, and we're just
in the AFC. Okay, maybe more than.

Speaker 3 (01:55:21):
All right?

Speaker 1 (01:55:22):
When we come back, Arnie's picks will take us home.

Speaker 2 (01:55:23):
On Fox Sports Radio, it is that time where we
put a rap on the program and say thank you
to Mary Mack, always fighting through pain whenever her lions
do what they did to her today thanks to uh Brie.

Speaker 1 (01:55:40):
I think do we still say sitting in bree or
is this officialized?

Speaker 8 (01:55:44):
Do you think we're still sitting in for now?

Speaker 2 (01:55:45):
Okay, sitting in for now? My vote is for you.
I don't know if you if you want to shift absolutely,
do you want to deal with Arnie?

Speaker 1 (01:55:52):
I mean of course she does.

Speaker 2 (01:55:54):
Uh the Seger always crushing it on updates and the
millions and millions of editors behind the scenes putting together
all the great sound that we never got to.

Speaker 3 (01:56:04):
So take it away, stinking genius.

Speaker 2 (01:56:06):
What do your picks look like on this pre Christmas
pick edition of Arnie's Picks?

Speaker 4 (01:56:10):
Yeah, we're only gonna go with four picks. We'll start
with the game tomorrow. I mean, what am I gonna do?
I gotta take San Francisco and lay the five and
a half against Indy.

Speaker 1 (01:56:19):
I just can't go with the Colts with the way
they look recently.

Speaker 4 (01:56:22):
So give me San Francisco and lay the five and
a half that brings us to the Thanksgiving, that brings us.

Speaker 1 (01:56:28):
To the Christmas Day games. I wich all, yeah, they're
all bogus games.

Speaker 4 (01:56:32):
I mean, but ratings shouldn't take a big hit, to
be honest with you, because people still love their football.
I'm gonna take Dallas though, lay the five and a
half on the road against Washington. Boy, it's so tough
for me to call that one was Washington at home,
but they look horrible, So I'll take the Cowboys in
this one. Gonna jump on the Lions minus six against Minnesota.

(01:56:55):
Don't know the availability of the quarterback situation in Minnesota
with McCarthy. Give me the Lions in that one, and
the Chiefs just looked awful. Chris Terre, I mean, do
you know what the line is for the Denver Kansas
City game? By the way, twelve twelve and a half? Oh,
when the last time the Kansas City Chiefs were an
underdog by twelve and a half points at home? At home?

(01:57:20):
But I'm gonna take the Broncos. I'm gonna weigh the
points because Kansas City can't get out of their ways.
So there you have my picks. Do with them if
you please.

Speaker 1 (01:57:29):
No longer strictly for entertainment purposes only.

Speaker 2 (01:57:32):
Just ignoring the NBA, just ignoring college basketball, just nothing else.

Speaker 1 (01:57:36):
For you. Yeah, that's I.

Speaker 4 (01:57:37):
Mean, look, my Arizona Wildcats keep winning and we have
two easy games until the Big twelve.

Speaker 2 (01:57:43):
All right, well fair enough, then, well let's give it
to you guys the rest of the way. Here at
Stinking Genius One at playing Show, Colin brings up a
good point. We were talking about coaching carousel moves and.

Speaker 1 (01:57:54):
Who could be headed.

Speaker 2 (01:57:56):
You brought up Matt Nagge as a candidate for Tennessee,
and I thought Arthur Smith would be a good fit there.

Speaker 3 (01:58:01):
Colin brings up a great point.

Speaker 2 (01:58:02):
He writes, Matt Naggy got Mitch Trubisky to the playoffs
twice and was a double joint away from winning a
playoff game. I think he's earned another shot as a
head coach. You know what, Colin, I don't turn that easily.
I think you just changed my mind.

Speaker 4 (01:58:19):
It would be the worst tire if that's you know,
if that's what you're thinking, he may get that chot
that chance again, No doubt.

Speaker 2 (01:58:26):
I think it might be too. This is from Vincent.
Vincent might be right here, He says. Everyone's saying the
Group of five conferences don't belong in the playoffs. After
what happened on Saturday to JAMIU and Tulane. Then we
should get rid of all the teams as well because
they get whooped too. Blowouts happen. These idiots need to
keep that energy for everyone just saying well, you're right.

(01:58:49):
But I think we had a thing here in Oklahoma,
and I think this is other states too, where in
the high school world there were schools that were getting
too big and they were blown out of the other teams.
So they separated the big schools in the middle schools
and they put like a six A one and a
six A two. I don't think there's much love loss.

(01:59:09):
If they came out and said, hey, we're going to
have a separate playoff for the group of five, I
think it'd be awesome, and I think ESPN or Fox
would be in on spending money to promote it, make
it a big deal. I don't see where the problem
would be if you went ahead and separated it.

Speaker 4 (01:59:22):
You know, at first I used to think that was
absolutely crazy, and then the people compared it to like
the nit and stuff like that. But now I'm thinking about,
you know, it might not be that bad of an idea.
You're right in ESPN could sell it, and I think
people would have interested it.

Speaker 1 (01:59:37):
I agree with you there.

Speaker 2 (01:59:38):
I think they would be all about it. And then
there was one more here Paul writes the Patriots are
the biggest frauds in sports. They have the seventh easiest
schedule of the Super Bowl era, and now that they're
playing okay teams, they're proving to be average at best.
They are definitely going to be one and done in
the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (01:59:58):
The easiest schedule out of all the teams in the
NFL this year.

Speaker 3 (02:00:04):
I didn't realize it was that deep with the ease
of their schedule.

Speaker 1 (02:00:07):
It is. It's horrible. It's so easy to see.

Speaker 2 (02:00:10):
Well, it helps when you play in a division with
a bunch of schleps like the Dolphins and the Jets.
I mean that makes things a lot easier. Yes, it does,
really the easy since wow, well you know what, you
might have changed my opinion on them. They pulled one
out of the fire tonight, and in fact, coming up
big Ben Mallor is going to be all about it.

Speaker 1 (02:00:28):
Arnie, you have a great holiday with you of my
friend Mary Mack.

Speaker 2 (02:00:31):
Have a blast, Brie, have a blast for Steve de Seger,
for Arnie for the crew I'm playing Arnie will be
back on the twenty sixth.

Speaker 3 (02:00:38):
We'll see you next Sunday night on Fox Sports Radio
