Speaker 1 (00:00):
Please don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Welcome in everybody, Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Saturday Aer
Tords Jason Martin broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio studios.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
It's that amazing time of year.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Playoff football is in the air, and as de Seger
just told you, a late fourth quarter touchdown by the
Green Bay Packers has put them up twenty seven to sixteen.
It was a twenty one sixteen game with the Bears
scoring the first thirteen points of the second half. Bears
are driving, but they do trail by two possessions. Now

(00:42):
five thirty seven left, about five minutes closer to five
minutes left. Bears need two scores. Five minutes left. I
believe they have their timeouts. My eyes are getting old,
so I don't know anything anymore. But Jay Mart, what's
going on? Bears do, in fact have all three timeouts,
Trailing twenty seven sixteen, about five minutes left in the

(01:05):
fourth quarter, needing two scores.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
What's up?

Speaker 4 (01:07):
Jmart?

Speaker 3 (01:07):
How you doing, buddy?

Speaker 4 (01:08):
I'm doing pretty well, man. At least we got some
drama out of this game, even though I think it's
still gonna go the way it did when it was
twenty one to three. But both these games today, the
early game, I think a lot of people just didn't
anticipate being very good, and we actually ended up getting
something pretty fun out of that. And that was really
the only one all weekend that I wasn't looking forward
to watching necessarily. So I'm pretty excited because I feel

(01:31):
like we've gotten maybe we've gotten to dregs out of
the way, and it turned out not to be that bad,
and we are set up for an awesome Sunday and
an awesome Monday. Not to mention what's happening in college
football and everything sports is just everywhere right now.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Yeah, we'll get to the early game in a second,
but let's stick with this one right now. Twenty seven sixteen.
You know j Martin obviously, look, the story is what
Jordan Love is doing. Four touchdown passes, two hundred twenty
six yards and has the Packers in position. I think
what the other story is, and I think I think
you would probably feel the same way. Bears two of
six on third down that included a turnover on downs

(02:07):
late in the second half that led to a Packers score,
and then, oh, by the way, a Caleb Williams interception
on a fourth down in the red zone in the
second half. So we are talking about a lot of points.
Kind of flipping hands there for lack of a better term,
two of six on fourth down. By the way, the
Bears are officially in the red zone. They are driving,

(02:29):
trailing twenty seven to sixteen. Again, we'll keep you posted
on what happens going forward, but if the Bears don't
hold on, I think the fourth down stuff is probably
what will be the conversation the rest of the night
into tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
Yeah. I mean, you know, I understand being aggressive and
your defense has, you know, not really put you in
great positions a lot this year. But at the same time,
you gave Green Bay some short fields. But they've had
their moments. I just there are three times I saw
this statnos is kind of blown away that three times
against the Packers this year they had a fourth and
one and they didn't run the ball on any of

(03:04):
them in there, zero and three on those. By the way,
this game just got closer.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
Oh so now you're ahead of us, How dare you?

Speaker 4 (03:11):
Wow? My Amazon must be faster. It's my cable.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
That's not okay, Well, we'll call Jeff Bezos. But in fact,
Jason Martin just broke the news. A passing touchdown by
Caleb Williams has cut the lead to twenty seven to
twenty two, I would assume, and they are in fact
going to go for two here. It is a five

(03:36):
point game with four minutes to go. Bear still have
all three timeouts left plus the two minute warning. It
is twenty seven to twenty two, the two point attempt pending.
We'll see what happens here. But it is an interesting game,
and it certainly just got much more interesting with a
touchdown pass from Caleb Williams with four eighteen left to go.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
J Martin, Yeah, no, it is. Look these are division
game and now it's a field goal game. Oh darn it,
I just gonna spoil it for you. See this, I
just want you to experience. I want you to experience
what I deal with on a weekly basis with you.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
Yes, well, let's see here.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
We do, in fact have a two point attempt by
the Bears that we know is good thanks to Jason Martin.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
Colston Lovelin's having himself a night. Colston's like he's been
He's been like the guy all night for Kayleb Williams
like talk about a safety blanket at tight end. Colston
Loveland has been everywhere they needed him to be in
this game.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
Seven catches one hundred and twenty five yards for Colston Loveland,
including a.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Two point conversion.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
They keep showing the fans grating cheese every time the
Bears score. So, yeah, it's twenty seven to twenty four.
So to reset, we came on. As de Seger told you,
it was twenty one to three at the half. And
what's crazy about this game is it's twenty seven to
twenty four, and again to reset, the Bears have shot

(04:59):
themselves in the foot one time after the other after
the other, two of.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Six on third or on fourth down. Excuse me.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
In this game, Ben Johnson went for it late in
the first half, deep in his own territory. They did
not get it. It set up a touchdown from the
Green Bay Packers. And then in the second half, it
was interesting. They kicked a field goal early in the half,
then decided to go for it on fourth down. That
was when Caleb Williams threw an interception. And to your point,

(05:26):
j Mart, they chose to throw the ball rather than
win it.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
By the way, I don't mean to laugh.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
Caleb's doing the pump up speech on the sidelines.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
Yeah, tough to do that after some of the other
stuff you've seen him do in this game.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
Not only that, I'm just gonna say it, and if
I get canceled, I get canceled. His nails are glittering
in the light of the of Soldier field, and I'm
just saying, if I'm a three hundred and twenty pound
offensive line I don't know if again, if you, if
America wants to cancel me for.

Speaker 4 (05:55):
Saying it, I'm just as long as long as he
wants to identify as a quarterback up Yeah with it.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
He is identifying as a quarterback, and he is. It's
been up and down, but he is certainly having a
much better second half with that with that score right there,
three hundred and one yards passing, he does have the
two touchdowns. So I guess the best move for us
right now is to kind of keep you updated because
there's four to twelve left. The Bears have all three timeouts.

(06:20):
I would assume they're not going to necessarily use him
this second, but this game is coming down to the wire.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
No one else came out of the wire. How about
Rams Panthers.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
How about it? Wild game.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
We have the sound of the final play right, Just
give me a thumbs up when it's ready. I know
we asked for it before the show, but it was
a back and forth game.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
And here is how it sounded.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
Eighteen seconds left Rams trailing late in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
From the nineteen.

Speaker 5 (06:51):
Stafford has it helmet high, settles his feet, shoots right side,
leaping catch touchdown.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
La wow at the front pylon.

Speaker 5 (07:01):
Colby Parkinson gives the Rams the lead with thirty eight
seconds to go. And absolute dot from Stafford thirty three
thirty one and the try coming.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
That is courtesy a RAMS radio network. And you heard
all the details. A Matthew Stafford touchdown pass to Colby Parkinson.
Carolina had taken the lead late in the fourth quarter,
short field on a blocked punt. Everything was going against
the Rams, but they drive the length of the field
seventy one yards Matthew Stafford to Colby Parkinson. Rams survived.

(07:39):
Jmart raps we saw what just happened? Well, now I did.
We got a deep pass from Jordan Love. Is that
Romeo Dobbs.

Speaker 4 (07:50):
That's a one handed catch on the run. That's that's
pretty impressive from Romeo Dobs. But yeah, back to that
look and Panthers. Panthers played really hard, made some serious
mistakes early in the game, and really still had it
to win. And then Stafford had one drive in him
didn't play particularly well at all in the second half.
Maybe he was hurt, his hand had gotten injured, his

(08:13):
finger had gotten injured late in the first half, and
then his stats kind of tanked after that. But Carolina's
defense played really well. The receivers for Carolina, outside of
one play, really played exceptionally well. Bryce Young I thought
played well outside of a couple of plays. That game
was a I think that was the largest spread maybe
in playoff history.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
Uh, I don't think it was.

Speaker 4 (08:36):
It either was or it was. It was the biggest
in like decades. It was like a ten point deal,
and obviously the Panthers were able to cover that. But
it just you can't hang your head if you're the Panthers.
You make it in you're eight and nine in the
second quarter. I don't want to watch the Panthers. They
shouldn't have made it. We can't do this anymore. And
then they almost beat the Rams, and I think the
biggest thing the biggest takeaway here is the Rams still

(08:59):
got out of there with the win. You can certainly
call that an escape, There's no question about that. And
now you're watching this to see whether or not, you know,
am I going to go to Seattle or is there
going to be another alternative for the Rams? But if
the Rams play that way next week against whoever they play,
they will get beaten.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
Yeah, I think the big thing to me, Stafford said
after the game that the hand was fine, did not
look fine. By the way, another first down, another pass
to Matthew gold and Matthew Golden, by the way, in
this Packers Bears game, gave the Packers the lead twenty
seven at the time, twenty seven sixteen first touched out
of the entire season for the first rounder. He has

(09:41):
picked up another first round, a first down. Excuse me,
Packers are just about in the red zone again. They're
up twenty seven to twenty four. So we'll keep you
updated on this one.

Speaker 6 (09:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
With Stafford, you know, he said all the right things
after the game about the hand. It did not look right,
you know, it's the To me, I don't know what
else there is to say other than one to your point,
Panthers proved they belong. Panthers played better than certainly anybody
including Vegas expected. Again, I think they were about a
nine and a half ten point underdog in that game
at home. I would have some concerns about the Rams,

(10:14):
with the way that they played in the second half,
specifically with Matthew Stafford.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
Going forward. We'll see what happens.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
We don't even know, as you said, who they'll play,
but to me, I do think i'd be a little
bit worried about that hand and about how he looked
in the second half. Pukainakua, by the way, was awesome
in this game. A couple of touchdown passes, a couple
of touchdown receptions early, they did enough to get this win.

Speaker 4 (10:37):
He made the biggest play of the game. Look, he
had a touchdown drop that was just incredible, Like you
just you never see him make that play. That was
a wide up and touchdown. He dropped it in the
first half. But outside of that, he had a couple
of scores. But the biggest play of the game was
breaking up an interception that Stafford threw in the fourth
quarter where it was supposed to go to Puka, overshot

(11:00):
him and Pooka played dB after the ball was basically
in the hands of the defender and knocked it out
on the way down. That preserved what then ended up
being points for the Rams. And I think that was
probably the biggest The biggest thing that he did was
that he was smart enough to make that play to
save his team and to save Stafford, to give them

(11:22):
another chance at the down. So he did everything that
you would you would want a receiver to do, both
with the ball and sometimes not with the ball.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
Special team is still an issue with the Rams. Yes, yeah,
you have anything to add on that. The block punt
again setting up what was it the time the go
ahead score for Carolina before the Rams drove the length
of the FEA.

Speaker 4 (11:40):
No, I mean it's not. I mean what you said's right.
I mean they'vey've struggled on special teams all season long.
Not gonna be able to get away with that for
too much longer. Basically, I think this is probably it.
This was the they honestly, you really look at it,
they should have lost the game. The fact that they didn't,
you know, that was one of those who it was like, man,
you almost got the Rams out of this thing. This

(12:01):
team that a month ago people thought might be the
best team in the league almost got got by the
Carolina Panthers on the road they escape. Question is did
they just get that out of their system and now
they're going to be able to roll or is there
something that is now on tape, something different or something
that other teams are going to look to expose going forward.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
Again, Stafford twenty four of forty two, three touchdowns, one interception,
but two of those three passing touchdowns were in the
first half. Los Angeles Rams went thirty four to thirty one.
As we've said in the late game, Soldier Field, green
Bay up twenty seven to twenty four, three minutes to go,
trying to put themselves back up by well, they'd be

(12:44):
up ten. I guess if they were to score a
touchdown here. Obviously it is a one score game right now.
We have a flag as Jordan Love was dropping back
to pass on third down. So I'll tell you what
this is what we're gonna do. We do have a
penalty on the green Bay pay as they trail twenty
seven to twenty four.

Speaker 3 (13:02):
I take it by.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
Green Bay up twenty seven to twenty four, three minutes left.
Will keep you posted on this Green Bay obviously trying
to get a game ceiling touchdown, Bears trying to force
a field goal. Third and fifteen, three minutes to go,
and we got about two hours and forty six minutes
to go here.

Speaker 3 (13:20):
Aaron Torris, Jason Martin will.

Speaker 2 (13:22):

Speaker 4 (14:15):
Lie, No, that should have been caught what you're reacting to?

Speaker 3 (14:22):
Live?

Speaker 2 (14:22):
Yes, we are live. You know you don't hear that
on tape. You don't hear those kind of grunts on
air on tape to lay baby. We're live here at
eleven twenty two Eastern time, getting you updated Soldier Field.
When we left you, the Packers were lining up for
a field goal to go up six. They were up
twenty seven to twenty four. The field goal was missed.

(14:45):
Bears have the ball back under two minutes to go
third and four. Caleb Williams just hit a receiver right
in the hands over the middle. It was dropped, setting
up a third and four, but they have converted the
third down and they are now in Packers' territory. DeAndre
Swift with the catch out of the backfield.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
You know, I mean anything to add anything new.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
Since we last spoke Jmart, but we got ourselves a
heck of a game here at Soldier Field.

Speaker 4 (15:16):
Look, man, this is disaster if the Packers find a
way to lose this. Yep. I mean the Bears have
done this all season long, but this should not happen.
And just watched the football game for about twenty seconds
from now.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
Oh my goodness, huh oh, I'm gonna tell you what happened.
So for people just joining us, J Mart is ahead
of us for the first time ever. He's in Nashville,
so he's two full hours ahead. And Caleb, I was
gonna say, Caleb Wilson, that's a basketball player at North Carolina.
Caleb Williams with a touchdown pass to DJ Moore one

(15:50):
forty three left, Bears up thirty to twenty seven. They
win sixty six yards in six play, a minute eight.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
Off the clock.

Speaker 2 (16:02):
Now, J Mart, there will be a time and a
place to conversate about leaving a lot of time left
on the clock for the Green Bay Packers. Ah, you
had no choice, but yeah, exactly. After trailing twenty one
to three at the half, after multiple fourth down failures,
including one in the red zone in the third quarter
where they would have gotten points, you would think the

(16:26):
Bears have now taken a thirty one to twenty seven lead.
A Caleb Williams passed to DJ Moore with one forty
three left, Bears drive the length of the field, Bears
have the lead. Bears trying to overcome a twenty one
to three halftime deficit. We got a thriller in Chicago,

(16:50):
and the Packers get the ball back with one forty
three left, trying to seal the victory.

Speaker 4 (16:56):
Look, I mean, you can't get much better than this.
I mean, it's coming right down to the wire. Kylo's
made some plays. I don't know how Dj Moore got
that open touchdown playing baby. I guess there's a.

Speaker 3 (17:10):
Reason the Lions are looking for a new offensive coordinator.

Speaker 4 (17:12):
My man, it's a fair point, but I mean, there
have been some things you could criticize Ben Johnson for
earlier in this game. But boy, like right here, Matt
Lafleur is. I wonder if Matt lafleur is just like man,
if I don't get this is John Harball gonna be
wearing this color next fall.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
I'll tell you what, why don't we switch gears? Because
there's one forty three left and we can't do play
by play on air for people just joining us. The
Bears are up thirty one to twenty seven with one
forty three to go. We will obviously keep you posted.
Let's try to do a quick John Harball segment, although
I have a feeling we're going to be interrupting each
other with updates from this game.

Speaker 3 (17:48):
But that is the big news.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
Since obviously you and I have last been on air,
and I would just ask you, John Harball, let go.
He did an interview with Fox today during the pregame
show here for for the Carolina Rams game, where he
said he's really narrowed it down to about two or
three places looking to do interviews this week. I think
what's interesting and you kind of were joking about it,

(18:09):
but if certain teams were to lose this weekend, maybe
the Buffalo Bills, I guess, maybe.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
The Pittsburgh Steelers, but probably not.

Speaker 1 (18:19):
Probably not.

Speaker 2 (18:19):
Yeah, you know, there may be another job open or two.
But as we wait for and we wait in a
positive way for this Bears Packers game to go final,
Bears to get up thirty one to twenty seven, Packers
have the ball. What do you make of the news
this week and any early thoughts on where John Harbaugh
can or should end up.

Speaker 4 (18:39):
So we did that topic last week where we ran
through all the potential coaches that could be fired and
we kind of predicted would they and in most cases
we were right. We did pretty well there. Both of
us said that John Harball things seemed a little bit
much and then he got acts. Then they took a

(19:00):
little bit more time to do it, and then Mike
McDaniel got fired right afterwards, which seemed pretty transparent. Where
the only thing I can think of is this, I
don't think John Harball's going to Miami because I don't
think they have a quarterback that he wants to go
go deal with. I think that's that's probably their biggest thing.
But I think here's the thing. It looked to me

(19:20):
like the Giants were going after Stefanski, and the second
that Harball became available was like, oh, the Giants are
going to go after Harball, which means maybe Miami can
score Stefanski and that might be their plan. That might
be the idea, at least in their head, but there
are other jobs out there. The thing that kind of
surprised me. I texted you this earlier today. I am

(19:41):
surprised a little bit that we didn't see Cincinnati do
the same thing Miami did that.

Speaker 3 (19:49):
Once Harball became available.

Speaker 4 (19:52):
Yes, because seems like to me, Joe Burrow, Chase and
Higgins and even Brown the he ran the ball, but
just they have an offensive nucleus that you could work
with coming in now. They have some serious defense, uh
defensive deficiencies, and I think it all comes down to
Harball lost his job because he did not get the

(20:15):
seal of approval from Lamar Jackson. And I actually don't
think he got it from Derrick Henry either, based on
what I read, and I think that's that's why he
lost his job and Zach Taylor didn't. Zach Taylor got
the they pulled Joe Burrow and Jamar Chase. Those two particularly,
I would say into the office. I would think it

(20:35):
just said, hey, do you want Zach Beck And because
if they'd said no, I don't think there's a chance
in the world Zach Taylor would still be the coach
of the Bengals. So maybe that's why it didn't change.
But when I first saw it, I immediately thought, Okay, well,
Miami is probably going to do something here, but Cincinnati
not doing it just tells me that some of Joe

(20:56):
Burrow's kind of like, oh, is he unhappy? Does he
want to get out of sense? I don't know that
it's as that might be a little bit overblown because
it seems like he had an opportunity to get a
new head coach and do some different things, and they're
gonna run it back with exactly what they had even
though there's some pretty good candidates out there.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
Really quickly, I promise you, i'd be interrupting the Harbaugh conversation.
In Soldier Field. We are under a minute, Bears up
thirty one to twenty seven. However, the Packers did complete
a fourth and seven, so the Bears were essentially one
play away from sealing this win. Jordan Love all of
a sudden, Matthew Golden's his favorite receiver. A fourth and

(21:36):
seven conversion another play gets them across midfield. Packers fifty
five seconds to go, trailing thirty one to twenty seven.
Don't have to be great at matth to know that
they have to find the end zone. And we have
a drop right across midfield.

Speaker 3 (21:55):
As goodness gracious Jalen Reed ball hit him in his hands.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
I'm I mean that would have put him out a
probably about the twenty five yard line, maybe even inside
the red zone.

Speaker 3 (22:05):
Hit him into his hands.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
Against Chicago up thirty one to twenty seven, Packers have
the ball about midfield. It's now third and three. That
was a big one and if they lose this game,
you know that's gonna be one of many. By the way,
there was a drop pass on fourth down for Carolina
as well, which sealed them. But the tell you what,

(22:29):
the Packers have picked up a first down, they have
cross midfield, were under fifty seconds to go as they
move the chains. Crazy game, j Mart, crazy freaking game, crazy.

Speaker 4 (22:40):
Game, no doubt. And they just showed bing Manison's sidelines
who missed that kick as we went to commercial break.
And of course now it's a four point game, so
he's not gonna be able to help them at all.
So I don't know exactly why they showed him, except
maybe to shame him. It's on mute, so I'm not
exactly sure what the role there was. I have been, well,

(23:00):
you missed that kick and that's why we're in this
situation or whatever. But this game is not over, is
no question about that.

Speaker 3 (23:06):
No question about it.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
Forty four seconds left the Packers have converted a fourth down,
or if they've gotten a first down, I should say
forty four seconds left. They did just use their final
time out first and ten inside the fifty and they
need to get moving here to get the victory over
the Bears. Oh my goodness, jaywal we're not supposed to

(23:28):
be doing play by play, but they have completed a
pass to Jalen Reid.

Speaker 4 (23:33):
I've just yeah, I've just decided to let you see
it in real time and.

Speaker 3 (23:36):
Yeah, no, thank you. Well, I'll tell you what.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
We have an injury timeout, so if there's any time
like the present to get it over to the news
desk with Steve Desager to Sega and ask you what's trending.

Speaker 3 (23:47):
I'm not allowed to do play by play. If you
want to do play by play.

Speaker 4 (23:50):
He's furious because he can't just sit and watch right now, yes,
interrupting this incredible guys, do we realize that they've played
each other three times now, Packers and bail all in
about the last month, and they've all been this incredible
fourth quarter game each time.

Speaker 9 (24:06):
And the Chicago Bears were down at home twenty one
to three at the half to Chicago to Green Bay
tonight in this wild card playoff game, Chicago allowed Jordan
Love on the first three drives, three touchdown passes, and
yet Bears came back to get within twenty one sixteen
in the fourth And these last ten minutes have been incredible.
You mentioned the game that Colston Lovelin has had the

(24:27):
other tight end, Cole Comet no catches at all, and
Roman dunsa Is playing for Chicago, has two catches. But
Colston lovel is the first rookie tight end since the
merger in nineteen seventy to have three straight games now
with at least ninety receiving yards. They've targeted him fifteen
times tonight he has eight catches, one hundred and thirty

(24:49):
seven yards, and a great stat they put up on
the Amazon broadcast he's the first rookie tight end with
one hundred yard receiving game in the playoffs since Keith
Jackson nineteen eight. Wow, which means that would have been
the fog ball that Jackson's Eagles lost on this field
at Chicago way back when thirty one twenty seven Bears

(25:11):
holding on And you cannot overemphasize what you talked about
with the veteran kicker Brandon McManus. By the way, Love
as they resume, has just thrown incomplete at the goal line.
It's going to be second and ten under twenty seconds
to go. Packers down four, not only because of the
missed extra point in the second half, but also in

(25:31):
the fourth quarter about three minutes left, there was a
Green Bay delay of game penalty that took a third
and ten to a third and fifteen, and then after
they threw incomplete that made the field goal attempt longer,
and McManus missed wide right from forty four yards out.
And at the very end of the first half, when
the Packers had been rolling, McManus missed a fifty five

(25:55):
yard field goal wide left. So Green Bay is down
four and a false start penalty on the offense just
second and.

Speaker 2 (26:05):
Fifty'll tell you this, you know, j mart You and
I have been a little critical of Jordan Love.

Speaker 3 (26:09):
They lose tonight.

Speaker 2 (26:10):
He's hit in his receivers right in the hands, like
some of his guys got to make plays.

Speaker 3 (26:14):
Kristian Watson just had another one.

Speaker 2 (26:16):
It wasn't the easiest catch to make, but it hit
him in a spot where he should have been able
to catch.

Speaker 4 (26:21):
He's playing well enough that they should win the game.

Speaker 9 (26:24):
Agreed correct, Not just the kicker but others around him,
as you say. And Christian Watson had the touchdown catch
on their very first drive in the night. He has
only two receptions the rest of the night. Romeo Dobbs
has been targeted eleven times, has eight receptions, one hundred
and twenty four yards and a score. Josh Jacobs nineteen
carries just fifty five yards under three yards of carry

(26:47):
the Bears. It took them a very long time to
get going on the ground tonight, just over fifty yards
rushing for DeAndre Swift and a score. We have had
an incomplete from Jordan Loves. His arm was hit while
rowing the ball, so a third and fifteen is coming up.
They're inside the Chicago thirty again down four, which changes everything. Currently,

(27:09):
there is a discussion with Ben Johnson and the ref
on the sideline. They're showing two seconds, but it will
be third down for the Packers offense again. Packers were
up twenty one to three at the half. Earlier, the
Rams won on a touchdown pass in the final minute
at Carolina thirty four to thirty one. Matthew Stafford three
td passes three hundred and four yards through the air.

(27:31):
Despite a finger injury, Puchinakua had ten catches for one
to eleven and two total touchdowns. The final play of
the game, These last ten seconds or so, all the
time coming off the clock as Jordan Love stays in
the pocket and throws to the goal lining complete.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
That's it.

Speaker 9 (27:49):
The Chicago Bears have just won in an incredible playoff comeback.
They advance, the two seeds are somehow alive, and the
Packers season ends with five straight losses and in this case,
a blown lead of twenty one to three at.

Speaker 4 (28:06):
B the world was that last play he took?

Speaker 3 (28:08):
Forever?

Speaker 4 (28:11):
I know he fumbled the snat, but what on Earth.

Speaker 9 (28:14):
Doesn't mean you have to take the last what was it?
Seven to nine seconds?

Speaker 4 (28:18):
Wow?

Speaker 9 (28:19):
Thirty one twenty seven Chicago. So Caleb Williams, who had
two interceptions thrown winds up with two touchdown passes and
three hundred and sixty one yards on the air, And gentlemen,
we can update the stat The Chicago Bears now have
seven different victories when they trail with two minutes left
in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 4 (28:38):
That's just dumb.

Speaker 9 (28:39):
Last second victory seven two minutes left trailing with two
minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 4 (28:45):
Last season Sea.

Speaker 9 (28:46):
Last season they had five wins total. This year, seven
of their wins are like this, and it's this wasn't
a Bears type of game. They didn't win the turnover
margin like they usually, they didn't have the rushing game
going like they used, and yet still magic at the
end back to you.

Speaker 3 (29:05):
I was gonna say.

Speaker 2 (29:06):
In a related story, Matt Eberflus fired earlier this week,
so tells you unbelievable final score in Soldier Field. The
sager just told you thirty one to twenty seven. I
don't even know what to say again. Packers up twenty
one to three at the half. Bears two of six

(29:30):
on fourth down, including in the late in the third
quarter of Caleb Williams interception wasn't really his fault, but
you know DJ moorefell he threw it up.

Speaker 3 (29:41):
Whatever, wild game. Wow, I don't I don't like.

Speaker 2 (29:46):
I don't know what the takeaway is other than absolute insanity.
The Stata Seger just gave it, gave us, told tells
us all seven wins when trailing by trailing in the
final two minutes of a game.

Speaker 4 (30:01):
It's just dumb, like that's just that should never happen.

Speaker 3 (30:04):
Yes, that is insane.

Speaker 4 (30:06):
I don't know how they won the game. I really don't.
This is gonna be a hard one to swallow for
Packers fans. It really is. You're up twenty one to three.
They are falling all over themselves. Caleb Williams has some
of the worst body language you've ever seen. He's on
the sidelines, dropping f bombs, cursing all over the place,
and he's the one right now that's talking to Kaylee

(30:28):
on the field after whatever that fourth quarter was. That's
just crazy. They had twenty five points in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 3 (30:38):
Twenty five points in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 4 (30:41):
Yes, wow, So let's reset.

Speaker 2 (30:44):
This and we got another two and a half hours.
By the way, we might have to open up the
phone lines. Let some people call in share their thoughts.
The Green Bay Packers fall at Soldier Field, final score
thirty one to twenty seven. Bears go the length of
the field after a field goal missed by the Packers.
The two stats that I just have heard. The Bears

(31:06):
scored twenty five points in the fourth quarter per Jason Martin,
and the Bears have now won seven games win trailing in.

Speaker 3 (31:16):
The final two minutes this season. I'll tell you what.

Speaker 2 (31:18):
We just got to open up the phone lines one
eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox one eight seven
seven nine nine six six three six nine. Incredible win
for the Chicago Bears. Major meltdown for the Green Bay Packers.
What is the story to you? Chicago Bears trailed twenty

(31:38):
one to three at the half, rally to win thirty
one to twenty seven.

Speaker 3 (31:42):
Let us know your thoughts.

Speaker 2 (31:43):
One eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox One eight
seven to seven, nine nine, six six three six nine.

Speaker 3 (31:50):
We need a second to collect arbait a second.

Speaker 4 (31:52):
So this is funny, right, Chicago fan, and I want
to hear people from Wisconsin too, but Chicago are Packers
fans anywhere? But so the Bears won this game, and
in the course of what was happening in the late
third and early fourth quarter, the Cubs signed Alex Bragman.
Oh yeah, so Chicago sports fans are having having themselves
an evening.

Speaker 2 (32:11):
Yeah, that was Manzi and Martin when I when we
came into the studio today said you're leading with Alex Pragman.

Speaker 3 (32:20):
Right, No, we're not leading with Alex Pragman.

Speaker 4 (32:22):
That was pretty much all we'll say about it.

Speaker 3 (32:23):
But yes, incredible rally.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
Again, the Bears trailed twenty one to three at halftime,
they win thirty one to twenty seven. Give us your thoughts.
If you're in Wisconsin, we want to hear from you.
If you're in Chicago, if you're a Bears fan. One
eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox one eight, seven, seven, nine, nine, six,
six three sixty nine. Ertors Jason Martin full postgame coverage
until two am Eastern Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (32:51):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (32:54):
Welcome back, everybody, Fox Sports Radio Aertoris Jason Martin broadcasting
live from the five Sports Radio studios.

Speaker 3 (33:01):
Yes, we are live.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
It is eleven forty seven Eastern time, and the party
has not stopped at Soldier Field. On the Amazon broadcast,
it looks like a person has not left. The Bears
trailed twenty one to three at the half, They trailed
twenty seven sixteen in the fourth quarter, and they rallied

(33:26):
to win thirty one to twenty seven. A Packers field
goal miss late in the game gave Caleb Williams the
ball back with one forty three left. He drives the
length of the field. A twenty five yard touchdown pass
to DJ Moore seals the victory. The Bears have moved on.
The phone lines are jammed up. J mart any quick,

(33:49):
I mean, we got two hours more to talk about
this game, But any quick thoughts on this given that
you know, we want to get some calls here of
people that are listening.

Speaker 4 (33:59):
I'm trying not to be a knee jerk reactor.

Speaker 3 (34:02):
You wont Matt Laflor.

Speaker 4 (34:03):
I think Matt Lafluor is gonna be fired.

Speaker 3 (34:05):
Really, I think he might be.

Speaker 4 (34:07):
I'm serious, like, I think it's a better than fifty
to fifty shot that he is fired by Monday.

Speaker 2 (34:14):
Well, let's take a look here. This is for Matt Lafleur.
He got the job in twenty nineteen. Obviously that first
year makes the af NFC Championship game. Excuse me, then
he loses. I mean, listen, you and I were on
air right the year that they had the number one seed.

Speaker 4 (34:31):
That was the That was the night I went to
the Tennessee Cincinnati game in the cold where Burrow and
company knocked out the number one seed Titans, and on
the same night the Niners knocked out Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 2 (34:42):
Yes, so the last let's see here, one, two, three, four,
five seasons. So you loses the number one seed at
home to San Francisco, missed the playoffs. In Aaron Rodgers'
final year, you lose to San Francisco in the playoffs
in twenty three.

Speaker 3 (34:56):
Last year, you lose the playoff overmolished, got demolish.

Speaker 2 (35:00):
Now that was the year that they did beat the
Dallas Cowboys in Jerry World, so that is fair and
worth noting. Last year lost to the Eagles in the
wildcard weekend on wildcard weekend, I should say, and they
lose again on wildcard weekend. So the last four seasons,
three playoff appearances, one playoff win, a total meltdown at

(35:24):
least in my opinion, thirty one to twenty seven. And
I'll just say this too, And I do want to
get to some calls. You know, I have been very
critical of Jordan Love. Jordan Love was awesome in this game.
A bunch of touchdown passes late in the game. He
four touchdown passes three hundred and twenty three yards, and
there were two or three plays late in the game

(35:45):
where he hit his receivers square in the hands and
they dropped it. The Packers fall thirty one to twenty
seven at Soldier Field. I'll tell you what we got
Matt in Wisconsin joining us now? Is this Matt Lafleura.
Are you calling to hand in your resignator letter? Matt
in Wisconsin, you're on Fox Sports Radio. First of all,
are you a Packers fan? Because I know it's not
always I assume, But you know what they say about assuming?

Speaker 6 (36:10):
Yes?

Speaker 10 (36:11):
Can I just do a deep sigh and that will
answer your question?

Speaker 4 (36:14):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (36:14):
Go ahead.

Speaker 10 (36:16):
All I can say is wow, the way they started
in the second half, the three three and outs, whether
you were a Packer fan or a Bears fan, you
had to be saying, here we go again. Obviously one
for the good, one for the bad. But two questions
I have for you, guys, who can you put the

(36:37):
blame on it for tonight's loss, for tonight's total collapse?
And number two, can you realistically have an argument for
keeping laflor and half Lee?

Speaker 2 (36:52):
Well, I'll tell you what, Matt in Wisconsin, we appreciate
the call. J Mart, you seem to be more passionate
about Matt Lafleur his job. Now listen if it happens again.
The last four years one playoff win, missed the playoffs
with Aaron Rodgers. His final year blows a twenty one
to three halftime lead. As Matt in Wisconsin just told us,

(37:15):
three straight three and outs to start the second half
really kind of doomed him because the Bears removing the
ball the entire second half.

Speaker 4 (37:23):
What is so?

Speaker 2 (37:24):
What is your take? Is there I mean, you can
justify him coming back. I think it's also worth noting
this to j mart and I know you know, but
just for the audience. Lost four straight coming into coming
into the playoffs. Ironically, their last win was against the
Bears a few weeks ago, and even that game was
a game where they had to rally to win. So
is it the late season you know, collapse and there

(37:45):
were some injuries involved, but is it the late season collapses,
the collapse tonight? Is it the totality of everything? What
makes you say what you say about Matt Lafleur's future.

Speaker 4 (37:52):
I just I mean, he's been there for a very
long time, and I think he's been a very good coach.
But in an NFL where John Harwauugh can lose his job,
attlafora can lose his job, And I think that's I
think that's really it. And if they believe in the players,
if the front office, if the ownership of the team,

(38:12):
if they believe in the players on the field, then
who is the problem here? Like what would cause this?
And what he said about Halfley? What the caller said
about Halfley. Halfley is like odds on favorite for a
head coaching job in this cycle, and I imagine that's
probably not necessarily going to change because of this football game.
I just think, look, somebody's got to be scapegoated here.

(38:35):
And you already said Jordan Love played pretty well. He
didn't have a great third quarter, but he played better
more tonight than he didn't. So I look at that
and I'm just like, something, some shoe's gonna have to
drop here, and we've already gone through some of the
other shoes dropping in the past for this team. I
just think this is the end of the road. I
think he's gonna get another chance. And I'm not saying
he's a bad football coach. I'm just saying we've seen

(38:56):
a lot of talented guys lose gigs for less than this,
and I just think this is the kind of loss
where when you're up twenty one three and that team
looks like they're falling apart around you, and you find
a way to lose that. I just don't know what
you do in that case other than say, all right,
we got to go in a different direction. We don't
want to be the next Buffalo Bills.

Speaker 3 (39:16):
Yeah no, And I'll tell you what.

Speaker 2 (39:17):
We'll reset at the top of the next hour with
the Matt Lafleur conversation, we'll get to a couple more
calls really quick. Do you think we got to give
some credit to the Chicago Bears here again to your
point twenty five fourth quarter points. And we mentioned obviously
the night that Jordan Love had Caleb Williams three hundred
and sixty sixty one yards passing two touchdowns including one late,

(39:40):
two interceptions as well, but Bears win, Bears survive quick
thoughts obviously before we come back and reset this year
at the top of the hour.

Speaker 4 (39:49):
Yeah, I'm just that's just an impressive It's just been
a crazy season for Chicago. Like there have been moments
where you're just like, man, they're just not all there yet.
They're certainly not on defense. But in the third quarter,
I did think they got after green Bay. Green Bay
got a little conservative. And this is the kind of thing,
like Matt Lafuur was an offensive mind, he was an
offensive coordinator. I didn't think the play calling, especially in

(40:11):
that third quarter, was very good, and then in the
fourth quarter as it tightened up, even though Love was
making plays. You can't blame everything on him, certainly, I
just felt like Lafleur has had moments like this in
the playoffs where it just feels like it the moment
has been too big for him, And I think that's
your biggest problem.

Speaker 2 (40:28):
Green Bay Packers fall thirty one to twenty seven.

Speaker 3 (40:31):
Again.

Speaker 2 (40:32):
They were up twenty one to three in the going
into the half. Chicago Bears rally to win. We'll have
plenty more coverage, plenty more of your calls. Erratorris, Jason
Martin taking you till two am Eastern Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (40:45):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (40:48):
Welcome man, everybody, hour two towards Mark, Fox Sports Radio.
We are broadcasting live. Yes, we are live midnight Eastern
Fox Sports Radio from the Fox Sports Radio studios. Phone
line are jammed up, and it is because two playoff
games are complete. You can't ask for much of a
better day of NFL football.

Speaker 3 (41:08):
Now, I'll be transparent. First one was awesome Rams rally.

Speaker 2 (41:12):
Matthew Stafford touchdown pass to Kolbe Parkinson with thirty eight
seconds left, as the saga just told you against the
Rams the win game two, j Mark, we thought was
looking a little bit like Indiana Oregon last night, Like
maybe we just turned this one off and start getting
ready for Sunday. The Chicago Bears, down twenty one to three,

(41:36):
rally to win thirty one to twenty seven. They were
down thirty one sixteen by the way, late in the
fourth quarter. A Caleb Williams touchdown pass to DJ Moore
with a little over a minute to go gives them
the win. And I will note this as well seventh win.

(41:57):
As Disager told us earlier, seventh win by the Bears
trailing in the final two minutes. I think I said
it was about a minute ago when the DJ Moore
touchdown pass happened. It was a minute forty three left,
But the Bears win. If you want to talk Bears
for a second, that's fine, j Mart. But I do
think we do have to circle back to the Matt
Lafleur conversation. Ye, because with the Green Bay Packers losing,

(42:20):
they lose a bunch of games straight to end the year.
Let me make sure that I have this stat correctly.
They lost four straight even heading into the playoffs. They
lose on Saturday night. They have now won one playoff
game over the last four seasons. They lost, oh, by
the way, as the number one overall seed a couple

(42:41):
of years back.

Speaker 3 (42:42):
Last year they lose to the Eagles.

Speaker 2 (42:44):
This year they blow a twenty one to three halftime lead,
and it seems like a conversation worth having about the
future of Mattlin Floor in Green Bay.

Speaker 4 (42:52):
I just I think it's over, man, I'm gonna change.
I said better than fifty to fifty. I think he's done.
I think that's it. It's not that he's done a
bad job. It's just that it's like the ceiling keeps
getting hit year after year. You had it with Aaron Rodgers.
You couldn't finish that. You've got it with Jordan Love.
You can't finish this now. Look, they lost Tucker Craft.

(43:14):
It was a huge part of their offense early in
the season. You lose Michael Parsons after you get him,
and that obviously is going to harm your defense. All
those things are true, but every team is going through something,
every team is dealing with something similar, So you usually
don't get that benefit of the doubt unless it's your
quarterback that's down. And in this case, you know, Love

(43:36):
in this game is about as healthy as we've seen.
You had a healthy Josh Jacobs in this game for
the first time in weeks and you don't get the
job done. And I just feel like Packers fans have
watched now under lafleor the Lions surpassed them and then
the Bears surpassed them.

Speaker 2 (43:52):
By the way, the Vikings were one game away from
the number one seeds last year too.

Speaker 3 (43:56):
Don't forget that.

Speaker 4 (43:56):
Yes, that's true. So during his tenure, all all three
other teams in the division have at some point or
another supplanted this team, and I just I don't think
that can continue, Like, eventually, you have to do something different.
And I just feel like the fans are probably at
the end of their rope after this one, because this

(44:18):
is one where you find a way to lose this one.
It's like, okay, all right now, we're gonna need to
do something else now because this right here can't continue.

Speaker 2 (44:27):
Yeah, you know, I'll be honest, I don't think I
realized seventh year as a head coach. Yes, so obviously,
the first two years you make it to back to
back NFC championship games, okay, but then, as I referenced,
you'll lose as the number one seed overall seed in
the nfseed of the San Francisco forty nine ers in
twenty twenty one. I think that was our first year
doing shows together. J Mart twenty twenty two. That was

(44:49):
obviously Aaron Rodgers last year in Green Bay. You missed
the playoffs. You get the following year, you get in
as a wild card. You do beat Dallas in Dallas,
and then you get smoked by San Francisco. You lose
to the Eagles. Last year to open the playoffs, you
lose to the Bears. And I think here's the other
thing too, A couple things. One, as you said, you know,
you just get to a point where it does feel

(45:11):
like they've hit a ceiling. I would also say this
is that Jordan Love played about as well as you
could ask from him, and not only is it not enough,
but the it's it sounds like a weird, counterintuitive thing
of Jordan Love played well, but the offense stagnated in
the second half. And I think that's I think that's
where the frustration comes in. Right if you just lose

(45:32):
this game thirty one to twenty seven, and it's this
back and forth thing, you know, down to the wire,
you lose on the road. Those things happen. But when
you have a twenty one to three lead, you're in
complete control. And then to the point that our caler
Matt in the last hour said, is that you go
three straight three and outs to open the second half.

(45:55):
Chicago's moving the ball will I know you can't really
blame the kicker for the situation, but at the same time,
the kind of can that's I was gonna say, those
are little things in coaching that become big things when
things are going sideways.

Speaker 4 (46:09):
You know, well, look, in this case, he missed two
field goals and an extra point. Okay, he missed two
field goals in the fourth quarter and an extra point.
I believe that would be the only saving grace. If
you're Green Bay and you want to talk yourself into
running all this back and not making some kind of
a big change, it would be well, look, Lafleura can't

(46:31):
make the kicks. It has to be something like that.
I just don't think that's gonna be enough. I think
Green Bay fans, which are unique because of the ownership
situation and all of that, I feel like they're gonna
want answers, and the only real answer is we need
a new voice. I think Lafuller gets another job and

(46:51):
probably does a nice job, but I think his time
in Green Bay. This one just feels again. If Harball
can lose his job, I feel like that sets the
press that you can move on from Mattless lad Well.

Speaker 2 (47:02):
And I think the other thing too, and you mentioned
it a minute ago. With the rest of the division.

Speaker 3 (47:06):
I know what people will say.

Speaker 2 (47:08):
The Bears seven wins, trailing in the final two minutes.
There's there will probably be some regression next year, maybe,
but I think Ben Johnson and Kayleb Williams are gonna
be around for a while.

Speaker 4 (47:19):
Detroit.

Speaker 2 (47:20):
I listen, we could talk Mike McDaniel at some point
before the end of the show.

Speaker 3 (47:23):
It looks like he's gonna be the OC.

Speaker 2 (47:25):
I think we probably get a better overall performance from
Detroit next year and Minnesota. Like for all of the
up and down stuff, they finished nine and eight, they
won five straight to end the year. Now we know
the quarterback situation is a little bit weird, but I
just bring it up because like, this is one of
those things that could have a carryover effect. This is

(47:46):
not the AFC South, Like this is a division where
you know, you start slow whatever, all of a sudden
you completely fall off the maps.

Speaker 3 (47:55):
I think that's the other variable.

Speaker 2 (47:56):
Two is the division is tough, and if you just
run it back and expect things to be different, I
think it's a tough ask.

Speaker 3 (48:05):
I think it's a tough ask.

Speaker 4 (48:06):
So yeah, again, I think I think you have the
excuse right now to say we need a new voice
in this room, and that that to be is going
to be enough for them to make this change. I don't.
I said by Monday. Maybe that's too soon. I don't know.
I just don't feel like they're gonna let this dangle
for very long, especially if they think they might have
a chance at Harball and they see him as an answer.

Speaker 3 (48:27):
I'll tell you what.

Speaker 2 (48:28):
We'll get some more John Harbaugh and a second more
coaching carousel.

Speaker 3 (48:31):
Ian, we got a bunch of calls. Yeah, let's run
through some calls. Let's run through some calls here, So
let's get to uh.

Speaker 2 (48:38):
Let me ask you this Ian is is uh?

Speaker 3 (48:42):
Jerome and Charleston still on he waiting patiently. I know
that's what I want to get.

Speaker 2 (48:47):
Jerome and Charleston, You're on Fox Sports Radio with Aeron
towards Jason Martin. What do you got on a thrilling
Bears win or depending on how you look at it,
a crushing packers loss.

Speaker 6 (48:56):
Look, he only got that job because he's a pretty
boy and he knows how to talk to talk. But
you know what, when when the when the rubber meets
the road, when the when it's time to bring the
bring the trophy home, he's less than desirable. Okay, he
definitely get fired. There ain't no way that whoever's running
the package front of that is going to try to

(49:19):
sell bringing him back. There ain't nobody gonna show it
to the people, agree bit, because they're not that dumb.
All right, there's no way he keeps this job. I'm
surprised you left at this long. I've awaitness what this
guy's he's sent us two twenty nineteen. Yep, man, he's
gotten a long these boy, but hey, his time's up.

(49:42):
He's a pretty boy. He just like that guy arguing
that damn landing guy, oh boy five or whatever. Oh
pretty hey man, pretty well gets your job again. You
got to prove yourself, and when you don't prove it,
even when you're pretty, you're gone. That's what's gonna happen.
They're definitely gonna fly him and Jordan love fulrad to

(50:03):
make way too much mind to play like this, twenty
one to Chuck one.

Speaker 3 (50:09):
One to six at the half.

Speaker 2 (50:11):
Jerome, thank you for the impassioned call Matt Lafleur too
pretty to be an NFL head coach. Now I think, listen,
I think there's a lot of points. And by the
way I keep saying one playoff win in the last
four years, it's really one playoff win in the last
five years, so that's worth noting as well. And I
do think to Jerome's point, I mean, you know, listen,
you're gifted Aaron Rodgers. Now, to his credit, let's give

(50:33):
him a little bit of credit, because you know, Aaron
Rodgers looked like he was on a decline and wins
back to back MVPs under Matt Lafleur's watch.

Speaker 3 (50:40):
But that thing ends. You get Jordan Love, you had,
you know, four years to develop them.

Speaker 11 (50:46):
You know.

Speaker 2 (50:46):
I actually I have been talked into Matt Lafleur probably
should not be back because thank you you and Jerome,
you just sold me on the facts. Jerome said he
was too pretty, and I agree with both of you.
So no, I don't know if I agree with your own,
but I do think there's something to the definition of
insanity is doing something over and over and expecting different results.

(51:08):
And listen, you keep mentioning John Harbaugh, this has been
in the conversation with Mike Tom. And obviously we think
Mike Tom was gonna survive whatever. But it's like, how
many times in a row do you do the same
exact thing over and over and get, you know, wiggle
room to keep coming back.

Speaker 3 (51:21):
And so you're talking about one.

Speaker 2 (51:23):
Playoff win in five years for the Green Bay Packers,
and you know, every every situation, every circumstance is a
little bit different, right is that? You know, I'm sure
there's plenty of organizations that would love to go to
the playoffs four to five years, but when you keep
getting there and not having success, and then the manner
in which they lost today, as Jerome just said, the
Packers trail twenty one to three. They were ahead twenty

(51:47):
one to three at a half, three straight three it
outs to start the second half. And here's the other
crazy part too. It's not like the Bears played lights
out and were perfect No. Two of six. On fourth down,
there was a Caleb William interception in the red zone.
You were gifted the ball deep in your own territory
by Ben Johnson. It's not like the Bears just played

(52:08):
the game of their careers. You know, we were waiting
on postgame sound leads in the back cutting it up.

Speaker 3 (52:13):
But I'm sure there's probably a piece of sou don't know.

Speaker 2 (52:15):
If Ben Johnson said we didn't play anywhere close to
our best game, the Bears still get to win.

Speaker 8 (52:20):
Now.

Speaker 4 (52:20):
Look, man, it felt to me like the Bears were
one touchdown away in the third quarter from packing it in.
It felt like it was I mean, it was just
completely in control for Green Bay. All they had to
do was closed the casket and they could not do it.
And a lot of that has to be on the

(52:42):
coaching and the play calling, and in that case, again,
I just I think Lafleur, I think the buck is
gonna have to stop with him this song.

Speaker 2 (52:51):
Green Bay Packers fall twenty seven to twenty one, or
excuse me, thirty one twenty seven. I'm getting my numbers
mixed up here, tell you what, Ian, Let's get to
one more call. Do we still have Kyle and Vegas
on with us? Yes, Sir Kyle and Vegas, You're on
Fox Sports Radio. Aeron towards Jason Martin. The Chicago Bears
rally to beat the Green Bay Packers thirty one to

(53:12):
twenty seven.

Speaker 3 (53:13):
Cal take it.

Speaker 12 (53:13):
Away, if I may, you go down baby and listen there. Honestly, guys,
there was five pivotal plays in that game that changed
the outcome. We'll say the mitsfield goal was won. The
time out by Lafloor on that thing series really changed.

(53:34):
That really changed the driving method. You had, the false
start which gave you.

Speaker 13 (53:39):
Back, or the DLA game that pushed you back into
that that position, the interception by Caleb. It was a
night where literally both both the football guys on each
side was like, Hey, we're gonna.

Speaker 14 (53:50):
Give this to you. Oh, you didn't do nothing with it.
Oh we're gonna give this to you. But you didn't
do nothing with it. The Bears didn't play a sound
defensive game. They went after, They went after Ky Regard
all night. They could not make that work. The Bears
found the way. They couldn't stop Lovelin on the other side.
So at the end of the game, I woked up
at the half life here we go again, twenty one

(54:12):
to three, and by the end of the game, first
off great broacout to Amazon. Great game finished off very well.
Lafoor is going to be out of there. I don't care,
cheese greater. Let's go Bears another season.

Speaker 10 (54:28):
You guys have a good night.

Speaker 4 (54:30):
That was Kyle and Vegas that he's feeling it.

Speaker 3 (54:33):
He's feeling I'll tell you what.

Speaker 2 (54:34):
We got one more caller on the line, Trey in
Texas here on Fox Sports Radio. Trey, you're in Texas
Bears fan, Packers fan or impartial and just enjoyed the game.

Speaker 6 (54:46):
I'm a Packers fan.

Speaker 3 (54:47):
Oh boy, sound Kyle the Bears fan. I'll be honest.

Speaker 11 (54:52):
No, I'm a Packers fan from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. But now
I'm really disappointed because, you know, for so many years
Green Bay has been the standard in the NFC North,
and for the game to be as it was, it's
very disappointing. But you know, it's funny because I've been
listening to the Odd couple earlier in the week, and

(55:15):
you know they were talking about, you know, coaches being
fired like Sean McDermot or even John Harball as far
as he's going to get fired in the playoffs or
after the playoffs. And you know, I was as crazy
to think that you know, Matt Lafour was even on
that chocolate block, but it's like not that I've seen it,
And you know, going back to the history and seeing

(55:35):
everything as far as how he's been playing in the
playoffs with the team he's had, it's like, you know what,
I do believe it is time to move on from
him because you know what, we're only going to get
as far as what we have gotten with him, and
I do believe he has underachieved, especially with the play calling.

(55:56):
And it's interesting because it almost seems to this it's
almost like a Mike McCarthy type of coaching. Man. It's like,
we would play good in the first half and it's like, awesome,
we can't play great in the second half. It's like
what's going on? And I just feel like, yeah, we

(56:16):
need a new voice in green Bay.

Speaker 2 (56:19):
Honestly, well that is Trey and Texas. And you know,
thank you for the call, Trey. So again, Jay Marty,
you've talked me into this. I think when you're talking
about the Green Bay Packers, the success that they have
had over the last basically thirty years, going back to
the Brett Favre era, when you're talking about one playoff
win in the last five seasons with a roster that

(56:40):
is now everybody's in their prime, right, because it was
the weird transition of you have Aaron Rodgers, but he's
on the back end, but you have these young receivers
and how does it all fit and Jordan Love's kind
of sitting waiting in the wings. These guys are in
the heart of their prime and for what to have
one playoff win in the last five years.

Speaker 3 (57:00):
I don't think that's the standard for Packers fans.

Speaker 4 (57:03):
Yeah, it's just not good enough. I mean, again, you
hate to call for somebody's job, and you don't want
to be a guy that has the rash take as
soon as something like this happens. But I just think
this is just this is going to be the last straw.
It's not like this is one thing this has been building.
It's like, eventually, man, eventually you've got to win one
of these and to lose this one this way to

(57:24):
another team in the division that is now you know,
largely kind of surpassed you. Eventually you're gonna have to
make some kind of a move there. And I just
I feel like it's just the end of the road
for him again. I think he will get another opportunity
because I think he can coach. But at the same time,
I think sometimes you just look at it and you say,
maybe we've gone about as far with this guy as

(57:45):
we can and some guys, some guys can get you
to the precipice, but they can't get you across the
finish line, which could be something we're talking about a
little bit later in regards to another head coach in
the league. But when you look at Matt Leafleur, it's
like he's done a lot of really good things there,
but he hasn't exactly ever coached a team that didn't
have a loaded roster or have something about it that

(58:08):
made it special. Like what is Matt Lafleur If he's
been in Cleveland the entire time, for example, I think
that's what it is. It's like, is he good or
has he been around good? And I think that eventually,
when you're around good and you continue to just not
get it done, that eventually makes the question more like, well,
he's not good enough even with this. So we got

(58:30):
to move on.

Speaker 2 (58:30):
Two quick thoughts to put a bow on this is
that one. I think there are two things that hurt
his cause as well. One four straight losses to close
the regular season. I understand the r injuries. I understand
you know, you played some pretty good competition, still no
momentum going into the playoffs, and then two. As I
said a second ago, it's not as though the bead

(58:52):
like in some ways, I think like twenty eight to
ten is better than third. Do you one to twenty
seven if the Bears were just lights out and everything
went right and tipped past it. But again, I hate
to keep reiterating the same stats, but two of six
on fourth down a Caleb Williams interception deep in their

(59:15):
own territory, an interception excuse me, in the red zone,
a fourth down attempt by the Bears deep in the
Packers territory, basically gifting them seven points. Yeah, no sympathy
for Matt lafor if this is in fact it, we'll
probably find out here soon because obviously the big candidates
are available, and the Packers, if they want to go

(59:36):
after those big candidates, will have to move quickly. The
story of the day, by the way, John Harbaugh saying
he only plans to interview with three to four teams
and make a decision from there. Fox Sports Radio ertors
Jason Martin, broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio Studios.
We will continue the conversation on Bears Packers, but we
also got to get to a busy couple nights in

(59:57):
the world of college football. College football semis are done,
Championship game is set, and we got plenty to react
to over the last two nights. Er towards Jay Smart,
Fox Sports Radio, Welcome back, everybody, Fox Sports Radio, Aer
towards j Smart, broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio Studios. Yes,

Speaker 3 (01:00:44):
Here to talk about it all.

Speaker 2 (01:00:45):
Let's get it over to Steve de Sager with what
is trending at twelve, twenty eight Eastern time.

Speaker 9 (01:00:51):
Ay truly incredible. Bears come back in Chicago to eliminate
Green Bay and their wild card playoff game thirty one
to twenty seven. So what is the win loss record
of a playoff team when they're up by fifteen or
more to start the fourth quarter. The answer is such
teams are now one seventy two and four. That includes
the Falcons blowing the big lead in the Super Bowl

(01:01:13):
to the Patriots and losing in overtime astoundingly. Coach Ben
Johnson of the Bears said during training camp this year,
he made sure to show his Chicago team the video
of that Super Bowl game.

Speaker 15 (01:01:28):
We had shown the film of the Atlanta and New
England game and the Super Bowl from was that twenty sixteen?
I can't remember what year that was, but we have
two players on our roster that were part of both
those teams. You know, Grady was with Atlanta and Joe
Toney was with New England, and it was just great
to get perspective from both of those players.

Speaker 9 (01:01:49):
Referring to Tooney and Grady Jarrett and now his Chicago
team this season, including tonight, has seven wins after trailing
in the last two minutes of the fourth quarter. The
Bears team before him last year only had five wins
total for the whole season. So Caleb Williams with these

(01:02:09):
seven fourth quarter comebacks, including tonight, that's the most in
any season by a quarterback under the age of twenty
five in the history of the NFL, and the Chicago
Bears have to say the least, a very long history.
Going back to the first ever NFL postseason in the
nineteen thirty the Chicago Bears had never won a playoff
game when trailing by double digits at any point, according

(01:02:31):
to Associated Press, until tonight's game. They were down to
the Packers twenty one to three at the half, down
twenty one to six early in the fourth quarter, and
then scored twenty five points in the final quarter to
eliminate Green Bay thirty one to twenty seven. Caleb Williams
two touchdown passes, two interceptions, three hundred and sixty one.

Speaker 3 (01:02:52):
Yards through the air.

Speaker 9 (01:02:53):
Earlier, the Rams opened the postseason with a narrow win
at Carolina thanks to a touchdown pass in the final
minute thirty four thirty one at that final score and yes,
three more games coming up Sunday, including on Fox TV
Philadelphia hosting the forty nine Ers. After a lot of
rain in Philly today, no rain in the forecast there
for Sunday, but due to be very windy more than

(01:03:14):
Chicago was tonight about forty degrees in Philadelphia.

Speaker 4 (01:03:17):
Tomorrow there is a.

Speaker 9 (01:03:18):
Monday night game. The Texans, who won nine straight, will
be at Pittsburgh. By the way, Matthew Stafford was voted
the All Pro quarterback ahead of Drake May.

Speaker 4 (01:03:26):
Today.

Speaker 3 (01:03:27):
In the NBA's late.

Speaker 9 (01:03:28):
Game, Charlotte won one fifty to ninety five at Utah.
The Hornets were up forty five twelve late in the
first quarter and late second quarter Charlotte led seventy four
to twenty eight. Clippers won at Detroit seventy eight seventy two.
Spurs won at Boston one hundred to ninety five. College
hoops number nine BYU has won at Utah eighty nine

(01:03:49):
eighty four. Wisconsin today pulled off the upset at number
two Michigan ninety one eighty eight. Texas got to win
tonight at number thirteen Alabama ninety two eighty eight. NHL
Boston will on ten to two over the Rangers. Tampa
Bay a seven to winner at Philadelphia, and the Cubs
are signing third baseman Alex Bragman five years, one hundred
and seventy five million dollars and no opt outs in

(01:04:11):
the contract.

Speaker 2 (01:04:12):
Back to you, thank you very much, Steve Saga, Fox
Sports Radio, Fox Sports Saturday An towards Jayson Martin, broadcasting
live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. We will revisit
the Thriller in Chicago in just a few minutes, but
jaymart want to spend half a second. I'm talking about
the two college football playoffs semi finals. We obviously, uh
you know, we're basically the show of record in college football.

(01:04:34):
So much going on on these Saturday nights, and we
do have a national championship game, just as we all
predicted in the preseason. It will be Indiana versus Miami.
Miami the thirty one twenty seven win on Thursday night,
obviously coming down to the final play Trinidad Chambliss incomplete pass,

(01:04:56):
semi controversial call. I was fine with them holding the FLA.
You can share your thoughts there. And then Indiana just
doing pure Indiana things on Friday night, fifty six to
twenty two is the final score, Jamart, I know you're
not on social media. Indiana is now so good that
basically there was just essentially a rumor floating around social

(01:05:16):
media today that they must be pulling a Connor Stallions
and stealing signs because nobody.

Speaker 3 (01:05:21):
Can be this good.

Speaker 2 (01:05:23):
Uh, But Indiana and Miami are playing for a national
championship game. I think there's a couple of very interesting
stories out of these semi finals. But I'm gonna give
you the floor to take it wherever you want. After
the two semi finals, the last two nights.

Speaker 4 (01:05:34):
I mean, I don't even know what to say other
than they're just it's not that they're winning, it's how
they're winning, right, It's just they're demoralizing teams. I've got this.
I'm gonna have to bring it up in my phone
because I saw this and it just absolutely blew my mind. Okay,
I think it's nope, all right, okay, looking forward either way,
Indiana just they demoralize and just mall teams in a

(01:05:54):
way that you just shouldn't, right, Like this is not
something they okay here it is all right. In twenty
twenty four, last year's Indiana team, they won games by
seventy four, thirty eight, thirty seven, forty nine, and sixty
six points. This year, they won regular season games by

(01:06:15):
forty seven, seventy three, fifty three, fifty forty five, and
fifty three points. That fifty three point win was against
an Illinois team that was ranked in the top ten
when they played them and finished nine to four. They're
not just beating teams, they're smoking them in a way
that you don't see outside of women's basketball. Like it

(01:06:37):
is amazing watching that Oregon game. Now, look, Dante Moore
had one of the most unlucky and just nasty knights
a quarterback can possibly have. First play is a pick six,
Then he has the fumble where he's trying to throw
the ball and he hits his own guy with his

(01:06:59):
arm while he's trying to follow through. And then on
the third when somebody just takes his head off and
he loses it. They give Mendoza in company short fields
make it easy. Mendoza has five touchdowns, but he doesn't
throw for two hundred yards and his completion percentage I
think is over one hundred percent at this point, Like
it's it's absolutely preposterous what he is doing. He has
I think twice as many touchdowns as or At one

(01:07:21):
point in the fourth quarter, he had twice as many
touchdowns in a college football playoff as he did in completions.
The Connor Stallions thing should just be a feather in
the cap for Kurt Signetti, because this is one of
the most impressive and dominant football teams that I have
ever watched on both sides of the ball. They're so
well coached, they never stop coming, they do everything right,

(01:07:45):
and I mean Oregon didn't even have a chance Dan
Lanning win. All of his losses since he's been at
Oregon have gone to either a team that reached the
National Championship Game or won the National Championship Game. Last year,
they got bludgeon by Ohio State. And as bad as
that was, Aaron, this was worse. This was disgusting. I

(01:08:08):
think I even sit that to you in a text.
I think this is one of the grossest things I've
ever watched. And it was like it was just from
word go, you knew who was gonna win this game.
I wanted to see a kickoff, and after watching for
about five minutes, You're like, oh, okay, well, we may
not have to watch this one to the end because
they're they're literally just taking teams out so early that

(01:08:30):
the second half is just not even worse. Seeing.

Speaker 2 (01:08:33):
Yeah, they're They're unbelievable. They're one of the most complete
teams that I've ever seen. I mean, I think and
I'm sure that we've talked about this throughout the season.
One stands out to me like, I don't even know
how you beat them, because they don't beat themselves. That's
the crazy part is that you know, great on offense,
great on defense, great against the run, great against the pass,
great running the football, great against the football.

Speaker 3 (01:08:56):
But they don't turn the ball over.

Speaker 2 (01:08:57):
Ever, as you said, for Nanda Indosa, seventeen of twenty
passing in that game, basically one of three passes what
for a touchdown because he threw five touchdowns in that game.
They don't turn the ball over. They force among the
most turnovers in college football. Now that's a little deceptive
because they've played fifteen games. Nobody for the most part,

(01:09:18):
has played that close. And they don't commit penalties. And
so you don't commit penalties, you don't turn the ball over.
You have the Heisman Trophy winner at quarterback, you have
just an excellent fundamental defense. I don't know how you
beat him real quick, because again, this is probably a
twenty minute conversation that we're gonna have to sneak into
five because of whatever. My big takeaway from from the

(01:09:41):
Miami Old Miss game. Listen, you and I were on
air filling in for Jason Smith and Mike Harmon the
night of the Old Miss Georgia game. Unbelievable finish. I
didn't know if Ole Miss could continue the momentum, But
I do think the big story out of that game
to me Miami physically dominating Old Miss Miami. You know, listen,
and Old Mist, to their credit, was still in the
game late, but Miami was just clearly the physically superior

(01:10:04):
team and basically bullied Old Miss the way that no
SEC team did all year. This is a thing that
has been coming for a while. I think it's official
the SEC, and you know, there's a couple of reasons
why that feel pretty obvious, the NIL stuff whatever. This
ain't your This ain't your older brother's SEC. As for
the third straight year, no SEC team will be playing

(01:10:25):
for a national championship after Old Miss was eliminated by
Miami on Thursday night.

Speaker 4 (01:10:31):
Yeah, so the SEC is still a really good conference,
and some are going to overstate that it's now just
a failure and it's over and all this it's not over,
but the way that it was is over. We're just
not going to see that anymore the SEC. Now, this
is the difference I think. I think going forward, you

(01:10:52):
cannot make the argument, or if you do, I think
you got to push back on this. If somebody makes
this argument to you, yeah, man, but look at they're
doing it in the SEC. No, that doesn't work anymore.
Like this whole we played an SEC schedule, so we're
so much better than no, no, no, no, no no, Like
we can't go there anymore. We just can't. They are
a very good conference, just like the Big Ten, and

(01:11:15):
just like other conferences. This like added sort of padding
that you give them because they play in the Southeastern Conference. Aaron,
I think that's done. I think it's over. I don't
think that that argument holds the water that it once did.
This is not the death of the SEC, but this
is the death of the SEC the way that we

(01:11:35):
have come to understand and watch it. And I do
think Danil and the transfer portal and all that plays
a role, but in a big role. Either way, it
doesn't matter. It just means that the SEC and the
playing field and everything else, everything has shifted, and it
has not shifted necessarily in their favor.

Speaker 3 (01:11:53):
Yeah, you know, the one thing.

Speaker 2 (01:11:54):
I don't think we ever talked about it during the year,
but I even pushed back a little bit because for
years it was just the SEC is undisputed best conference,
no doubt, whatever, and then for the last you know,
year or so, it's been Okay, you know, Michigan won
a title, then Ohio State won a title.

Speaker 3 (01:12:10):
Well, you know, the Big.

Speaker 2 (01:12:11):
Ten has caught the SEC at the top, but the
middle in the bottom, the week to week is so tough.
And I remember saying in the middle of the year,
I was like, wait a second, now, Florida is freaking terrible.
South Carolina is terrible, Arkansas is terrible, Kentucky is terrible.

Speaker 3 (01:12:26):
And I didn't under I even thought.

Speaker 2 (01:12:29):
This year that narrative of well, I mean, but it's
still clearly better in the middle in the bottom, it's like, no,
it really wasn't. And as a matter of fact, and listen,
I'm not gonna sit here and say with revisionist history
that teams that made the playoffs shouldn't have been in.
They won the games on the schedule, But you can
go back and look at who Texas A and M

(01:12:49):
beat and say, you know, maybe they weren't as good.
They quite literally got virtually every team in the bottom
half of the standings, and again, the bottom of the
SEC was bad.

Speaker 3 (01:13:00):
This year.

Speaker 2 (01:13:01):
Old Miss took advantage of that too, not quite as much.
I don't want to take away from Old Miss, which
did win at Oklahoma. They got a win that justified
them being in. So I'm not saying with revisionous history,
these teams shouldn't have been in.

Speaker 4 (01:13:12):
You mean at Georgia. Oh you mean you're talking about
the regular season.

Speaker 2 (01:13:15):
Yeah, in the regular season. And all I'm saying is
I'm not gonna sit here with revisionist history and say
they shouldn't have been in. I didn't say it the
night before the playoff bracket was announced, But what I
will say is we can now acknowledge that some of
those teams beat up on some pretty crappy competition at
the bottom of the league. And you know, we could

(01:13:36):
put a ball on this. But to your point, I
just think we can't go into next year and just
put you know, nine SEC teams in the top twenty
and then when they all beat you to all that
means that no. So we'll see what happens going forward,
but we can put a ball on this. But I
just it's not what that you.

Speaker 4 (01:13:54):
Used to give them extra credit on the test because
they played in the SEC. I just think that's over.
I think that I even think the committee going forward
is not going to see it the same way. You're
just not going to get that extra benefit that you
have and it maybe deservedly so for many of these years, right,
but you just can't make the argument anymore. Doesn't mean

(01:14:15):
there's not some juggernauts and some great teams in the SEC.
It does mean that the entirety of that league and
some of this narrative and the aura surrounding it, it's
taken a hit, and I don't know that it's ever
recovering to the it's certainly never going to recover. I
don't think to the degree that we at one time
kind of view the SEC when it was out its.

Speaker 2 (01:14:35):
Apex Indiana Miami will play for a national championship. They
don't play until a week from Monday.

Speaker 4 (01:14:41):
Yeah, that stinks.

Speaker 3 (01:14:42):
It stinks if you're looking for glasses half full.

Speaker 2 (01:14:45):
We got plenty of time next week to preview that
game Indiana Miami Indiana. By the way opening it is
like a night and a half BOYD favorite showing you
just how good they've been this year. Fox Sports Radio

every week around this time. Let's get it over to
the news desk to Sager give us everything we miss
today and plenty more on the two thrilling NFL games.

Speaker 9 (01:15:45):
Well, we'll start with the thriller of a fourth quarter
in Chicago. Bears advance over rival Green Bay thirty one
twenty seven in a wild card game tonight. A lot
of emotions shown after the win by the new head
coach of the Bears, Ben Johnson.

Speaker 16 (01:15:58):
He spoke afterwards, there's probably a little more noise coming
out of there and building up north to start the week,
which we heard long and clear, players and coaches alike.

Speaker 15 (01:16:09):
So this one meant something to us.

Speaker 9 (01:16:11):
So there two touchdown passes for Caleb Williams after his
two interceptions three hundred and sixty one yards in the air.
Astounding because the Bears franchise has been around about one
hundred years. If Caleb Williams throws two more touchdown passes
at any point in his Chicago career in the playoffs,
he will tie for second all time in Bear's history

(01:16:33):
with those four touchdown passes.

Speaker 4 (01:16:35):
I don't know if that's insane.

Speaker 9 (01:16:37):
Jim McMahon as a Bear had four in the playoffs.
Rex Grossman had four. Sid Luckman seven is at the
top of the long list of Bears quarterbacks throwing touchdown
passes at the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (01:16:49):
So if he gets six more between now in retirement,
he will be the Bears all time.

Speaker 9 (01:16:55):
Yeah, exactly, So if they make a run and he
throws two in each standing by and the NFL writer
Ari Murrov makes a good point that with the Packers loss,
their first round selection in April will be at number
twenty overall, and it's not their selection because the Micah
Parsons trade, So the Dallas Cowboys will be selecting twelve

(01:17:16):
and twenty in the first round at the moment. But
the Bears are twelve and six at home, they're seven
and two, and they win yet another close game again
after trailing in the last two minutes of the fourth quarter.
They've won seven different times and the in division games
this year they were two and four, and that includes
the two Thrillers late season against the Packers. Packers finished

(01:17:39):
nine eight and one and finished with a losing record
on the road. They lost their last five games played
to end this season, and they lost this game despite
being up twenty one to six at Chicago early in
the fourth quarter. Kicker Brandon McManus miss two field goal
attempts and an extra point. The way the Bears usually
win is not just being good late. It's by running

(01:18:02):
the ball, and they really didn't get off the ground
for most of this game on the ground, pardon. Number
one rushing team in the NFC are the Chicago Bears,
and they dominate the turnover the best in the league
at turnover margin plus twenty two coming in and yet
they had the early two turnovers in this one. Green
Bay no turnovers, and still it's the Bears advancing. However,

(01:18:23):
linebacker TJ. Edwards did leave with an ankle injury. Bears
went three for three on field goals, never punted, only
had two penalties for five yards. Young tight end Colston
Lovelin was targeted fifteen times. He had eight catches one
hundred and thirty seven yards. The Rams star wide receiver
Puka Nakua was targeted eighteen times. He had ten catches

(01:18:44):
at Carolina one hundred and eleven yards, two total touchdowns.
Rams wanted on a TD pass in the final minute
thirty four to thirty one. The Panthers finished eight to ten.
Carolinas Jalen Coker did have a career game nine catches
one hundred thirty four yards in a score. But the
Rams are now thirteen and five. But yet again, we
see problems in road games. Specifically, this is a team

(01:19:06):
that overall averages thirty points a game, best in the NFL,
and they got thirty four today. They averaged close to
four hundred total yards a game, best in the NFL.
They had over four hundred today. But they blew the
early season road game at Philadelphia, blew the late season
road game at Seattle, blew the division title, blew the
one seed. They're gonna have to continue on the road,

(01:19:29):
maybe in Chicago in the near future. We'll see. There
are still games to be played Tomorrow. That was a
game at Carolina with four lead changes in the fourth quarter,
Rams win by three. There are three games on the
Sunday schedule. One pm Eastern time, Jacksonville, which has won
eight in a row, host a Buffalo team that has
the top rushing offense in the league and James Cook

(01:19:52):
had sixteen hundred yards on the ground this year. Then
on Fox TV Philadelphia at four to thirty Eastern time,
host San Francisco. By the way, the forty nine Ers
had sax or interceptions on just four percent of opponents
pass attempts. They don't get pressure. They've had a ton
of injuries, of course as well, and their turnover margin
is the worst among any of the playoff teams, a

(01:20:13):
minus six for the season. So will the Niners be
able to stay alive in the postseason?

Speaker 4 (01:20:19):
Tomorrow?

Speaker 9 (01:20:19):
Chargers at Patriots on Sunday night. Thank you to Seger,
appreciate you. This is Fox Sports Radio Errators, Jason Martin.
It is nearly one am Eastern time. We are taking
you up till two am Eastern and we still got
plenty more to get to. More on that Packers Bears thriller,
plus a look ahead to those Sunday and Monday games.

(01:20:42):
One hour left air tours, Jason Martin. This is Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (01:20:48):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (01:20:51):
Welcome in everybody, hour three tours mart Fox Sports Radio.
We are broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio studios,
taking the up till two am Eastern. Bernie Fratto of
The Bernie Frado Show follows us.

Speaker 3 (01:21:06):
Cannot wait.

Speaker 2 (01:21:07):
Bernie, as mister NFC North spent years in Detroit, so
you know he'll have very good stuff on what was
an awesome day of NFL football. De Seger just told you.
In the early game, the Rams rally to win thirty
four to thirty one. A touchdown pass from Matt Stafford
to Colby Parkinson with thirty eight seconds left gets the victory.

(01:21:32):
And then there was the late one, which we certainly
have to talk about. Final score in Chicago thirty one
to twenty seven. Listen, we'll we'll give you a little
bit of a setup here, but the bottom line is
one of the wildest playoff games that you will ever see.
Bears trailed twenty one to three at the half. They

(01:21:53):
really kind of kept shooting themselves in the foot for
about the first forty five minutes of this game. Two
of six sound third down in the first half. They
went for a deep in their own territory on fourth down,
did not convert, set up a Packers touchdown score. In
the second half, there was a play in the red

(01:22:13):
zone on fourth down that was not that was actually intercepted.
So it wasn't as though the Bears were lights out
all night, but they rallied in the fourth quarter under
two minutes to go. They were at the time trailing
twenty seven to twenty four. And this is what it
sounded like.

Speaker 17 (01:22:31):
Caleb and a gun swipped to his left, snap back
four man rush Caleb with a double moolf drundown half
sounded like DJ bards one the five pen zones touchdown
touchdown Bears, They've taken the lead on the Packers FO
one forty three to go twenty five yards, the same
connection week sixteen walk off.

Speaker 3 (01:22:52):
When this connection huh three pointly Wow, that was courtesy
the Bears radio network.

Speaker 2 (01:22:58):
A twenty five yard touchdown as from DJ Moore from
two DJ Moore from Caleb Williams gives the Bears a
thirty one to twenty seven lead. As you said earlier,
J mart I could not believe it when he told
me this in hour one, twenty five points in the
fourth quarter. Disager gave us the stat earlier in the show,

(01:23:20):
the seventh win by the Bears this season. Trailing in
the final two minutes, the Bears win, the Bears advance.
Unbelievable game, unbelievable finish, of course, unless you're a Packers fan.

Speaker 4 (01:23:36):
Yeah. I saw a comment on a forum after the
game has said, Hey, good news Packers fans is when
you wake up tomorrow, it's gonna be worse. Yeah, that's tough.
Matt Lafleur is seventy six forty Well, he was entering
the game seventy six to forty and one. Now he's
seventy six forty one and one. Ian Rappaport of the

(01:23:59):
NF Network this morning, well, I guess now. Saturday morning
put out a report around nine am somewhere in that
neighborhood that basically said that whenever Green Bay season ended,
which they hoped would be later rather than sooner, everyone
involved was going to meet, we sit down, and they
were going to hammer out an extension for Matt Lafor's contract.

(01:24:22):
Oh wow, I found that during the last commercial break.
Can a loss changed that? And my answer is yes,
I said this earlier. If you missed any part of
what we did, and of course we weren't doing live
play by play, but it's kind of hard to host
the live show with all that was going on, so
we were keeping everybody up to date. Try not to
be too rash in the judgment, but I just think

(01:24:44):
this is he's been there as long as he as
he has, and they have not had the success in
the postseason, and they're coming off losing all these games
in a row to end the season, losing four and
then now of course they lose this one and it's
too a division rival. I I feel like he's done.
I think he's coached his last game. And so you

(01:25:06):
go from Ian Rappaport saying everybody involved can't wait to
get this extension in his contract done too. I truly
believe that they're gonna not only are they not going
to extend it, I think they're going to extend a
pink slip and say thank you, best of look in
your future endeavors. This is the kind of game that
gets you fired. And McManus goes out there, he misses

(01:25:29):
two field goals and he misses an extra point. You
end up losing this game by obviously, if you make
those kicks, that changes a lot in the game. But
one thing I saw because I went to some Green
Bay fan sites just to see what their reaction was,
is like it was Matt Lafleur who didn't go away
from McManus despite the fact he's been having issues all

(01:25:50):
season long. It was Lafleur responsible for some of the
special teams guys that were there and all this, like
it just everybody's coming after Lafleur, which is exact exactly
what I thought was going to happen. And I just
think that I think that the ownership is gonna have
a hard time even selling this to themselves. But I
think it's interesting that you got that report about extending

(01:26:13):
his contract in this being mutual, and it's just like,
I don't think so, man. I think this is the
game that gets you fired.

Speaker 3 (01:26:20):
So two things on that one.

Speaker 2 (01:26:21):
Obviously, look, you know, stuff changes, And for people who
don't have the context, Lafleur has actually been there since
twenty nineteen, which sounds crazy. Obviously opened his run with
back to back NFC Championship Game appearances, but in the
last five seasons.

Speaker 3 (01:26:36):
One playoff win.

Speaker 2 (01:26:38):
It was that Wildcard weekend game in Dallas, which you
considering where Dallas has been, it feels like a million
years ago. That was the only one that they have
during this stretch. And to me, why I do think
it needs to be considered is two things. Is One,
it is the manner in which you lost the game tonight.
It's not just that you lost to a division rival.

(01:27:00):
You're on the road, I get it. Whatever, if you
just lose to a division rival on the road, whatever,
a lower seated team, whatever, the issue becomes the fact
that you were up twenty one to three. You're supposed
to be this offensive genius. You go three and out

(01:27:21):
on three straight possessions to start the second half, and
then everything else, everywhere else goes wrong. Twenty five points
allowed in the fourth quarter, two missfield goals, a miss pat.
I mean, at some point it does have to fall
on somebody. And that's where I said this an hour
two and it sounds weird, but I think in some ways,

(01:27:44):
if you lost twenty one to twenty one to ten
or twenty eight to ten and it wasn't even close
and the Bears just but the manner in which you lost,
I don't know how anyone could feel good coming back.
And then the other part that you brought up to
or that we both brought up, j Mart, is that
lousing those four straight going into the playoffs. Like if
you had rallied, if you hit your lull at October

(01:28:07):
and all of a sudden you were red hot going
in the playoffs and you had a raw, you know,
a bad game on Saturday night in Chicago, that's a
lot different than losing five straight games to end the
year quite literally well over a month since they last
celebrated a win. I think that's gonna be a tough
pill to swallow.

Speaker 3 (01:28:25):
I know it's.

Speaker 2 (01:28:25):
Complicated there with ownership and who's actually making the calls
and whatever. I do think it would be tough to
justify bringing him back five straight wins to end the
regular to end the season, excuse me, including the postseason
lost to Chicago on Saturday night and again one postseason
win in the last five years.

Speaker 4 (01:28:45):
So he was asked after the game in his press
conference about his future. I just found this quote. He said,
with all due respect to your question, and I guess
the guy's name was Pete that asked the question, with
all due respect to your question, Pete, Now's not the
time for that. I'm just hurting for these guys. I
can only think about what just happened, and there will
be time for that.

Speaker 2 (01:29:04):
Well, I'll tell you what Jamark producer Lee in the
back Actual, we have producer Ian, but Lee in the
Back did get us that sound. Let's hear Matt Lafleur
being asked that exact question.

Speaker 18 (01:29:15):
Hey, Mat, you got a year left on your contract
and policy has said he doesn't like plane duck seasons.
Do you expect me back next season? Have you guys
already started negotiating that.

Speaker 19 (01:29:26):
Deal or Yeah, with all due respect to your question, Pete,
now's not the time for that. I mean, I'm just
hurting for these guys, you know. I can only think
about just what just happened, and there will be time
for that.

Speaker 8 (01:29:42):
Do you think your team has a confidence that the
leadership of this organization can.

Speaker 10 (01:29:47):
Can get more than one to go?

Speaker 19 (01:29:48):
Yeah, again, with all due respect, Pete, definitely, now's not
the time.

Speaker 3 (01:29:54):
That was Matt Lafleur after the games.

Speaker 4 (01:29:58):
Yeah, that does not sound like a guy that's about
to hammer out a mutual extension. Sure, I understand, like
I understand what he's saying too, like this is not
really the time to talk about my future. But he
also knew that question was going to be asked. But
that response that does not reflect the tenor of Ian
Rappaport's story, which I think was accurate right up until

(01:30:20):
that loss. Because of the way that that went down,
I think that changed everything for Lafleur's future in Green Bay.

Speaker 3 (01:30:28):
No, I think there's no doubt about it.

Speaker 2 (01:30:30):
And I listen, if they decide to stay, then they
if you decide, if they decide to keep them, they
decide to keep them. But I do think there is
something to the conversation has to be had because of
how the season ended, because of the manner in which
it did, we should probably give a little bit of
credit to the Bears here. Chicago bears twenty five points

(01:30:53):
in the fourth quarter. Again, like I keep saying, the
twenty one to six, they trailed twenty one to six
at the half.

Speaker 3 (01:31:00):
They trailed twenty seven to sixteen. With under seven minutes.

Speaker 2 (01:31:05):
To go, Matthew Golded a twenty three yard touchdown catch
was actually his first catch of the first touchdown catch
of his rookie season, put the Packers up by two
scores with six minutes to go. Again, Chicago drives the
length of the field, gets a touchdown with four eighteen left,
They get the stop, and then the Dj Moore touchdown
pass caps a six play, sixty six yard drive in

(01:31:28):
a minute eight Unbelievable team, unbelievable season, Ben Johnson, they're
showing the stat on TV right now as an assistant
at a head coach. Now seven to two against the
Green Bay Packers. But man, oh Man, oh Man, obviously
we got to figure out some things tomorrow before we
figure out who they're playing and all that, but what

(01:31:51):
a team, what a season.

Speaker 3 (01:31:52):
Just unbelievable.

Speaker 4 (01:31:54):
Yeah, I mean, it really is. I mean, I don't
think to the point that that we've made earlier in
other are making You're not going to be doing this
for years and years and years and years. This is
not something that you can replicate throughout your entire coaching
tenure or if you're Kaylea Williams, you know, as long
as you play and all this other stuff, but you
don't have to. You just got to do it this year.

(01:32:15):
If you win a chip this year, it doesn't matter.
So you know, you know, there's the idea of hard
to kill. Georgia was hard to kill, Oklahoma was hard
to kill. The Bears are pretty hard to kill. Sure,
they are pretty hard to kill because the stuff that
they are pulling off and just if you look at
the stats and things like that, like these are just

(01:32:37):
things that don't happen. The record with teams that had
the advantage that the Packers did, and just the fourth
quarter comebacks and the fact that in the last two
minutes they've done this multiple times. It's just it's it's astonishing.
But again because of how it went down, the drama
and just how unprecedented it was to see this. That

(01:33:03):
to me, again, that's actually the worst possible reality for
Matt Lafleur, which you've already made that point. It's exactly right.
It just this was a game that you should have won,
that you had in hand, and you could not finish,
and that to me is just deathnell material.

Speaker 2 (01:33:19):
Before we start previewing the Sunday and Monday games, any
quick takeaways or extended takeaways on the Rams winning thirty
four to thirty one in Carolina. Again, Matthew Stafford touchdown
pass with thirty eight seconds left to Colby Parkinson seals
the victory. By the way, Puka Nakua ten catches one

(01:33:40):
hundred and eleven yards and a touchdown. The Rams survive
in Carolina thirty four to thirty one. Again, we don't
yet know who the Rams will play in the second
round in the Divisional round of the NFL Playoffs.

Speaker 4 (01:33:54):
Look, I mean they had to go on the road
and win, and they did. It wasn't a particularly oppressive
game overall for them. Their defense was leaking oil. They
were able to get some pressure on that last drive
on Bryce Young. Yeah, yeah, exactly right. Like special teams
is not good in a game either, but all you
got to do is win in the playoffs, and they're

(01:34:15):
still an incredibly dangerous team potentially with the MVP and
Matthew Stafford at quarterback. Anybody that had the opportunity was
ready and hoping to play Carolina and now you have
to deal with the Rams, and this is just look good.
Teams find a way, and I think you can give
a lot of credit to Carolina. They proved that they belonged.

(01:34:36):
They showed up, they played out. It's really good to
watch Bryce Young just kind of come into his own
a little bit. He's never gonna win League MVP, but
it's very clear that his team believes in him and
they're doing everything they can to help him succeed. And
I like seeing that for him. But uh, you know,
eventually you're going to run into some kind of adversity,

(01:34:58):
and the Rams did it. They try to shoot themselves
in the foot and get themselves beat and they were
still able to pull this thing out and that's a
credit to them. And they're still going to be a
really tough out in this postseason.

Speaker 2 (01:35:12):
With the Rams win, they now wait for the result
of the San Francisco Philly game on Sunday. If San
Francisco wins, the Rams will play in Chicago. If Philadelphia wins,
the Rams will play the Seahawks. Fox Sports Radio aertors
Jason Martin, broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio studio.
Speaking of San Francisco Philly, one of three games on Sunday.

(01:35:36):
One of four remaining games on Wild Card weekend. We're

(01:36:18):
you out of here a little bit early this evening,
final time, this evening. What what do you gotta get us?
Updated on here at one twenty four Eastern Time.

Speaker 9 (01:36:27):
Well after these two wild wild card playoff games to
start the postseason, we had a day in the NFL
playoffs that we haven't had in over twenty years, because
on the same day we had two teams overcome deficits
with a touchdown in the last two minutes of regulation
to win a playoff game. First, the Rams won on
a TD pass in the final minute for a victory

(01:36:48):
at Carolina thirty four to thirty one. Then the Bears,
with the big comeback three touchdowns in about the last
ten minutes, including a late score, beat the Packers thirty
one to twenty seven. And yes, Green Bay kicker Brandon
McManus missed two field goal attempts and an extra point.
Bears were down twenty one to six early in the
fourth quarter and then scored twenty five points in the

(01:37:10):
final period. The Bears had gone two to four in
division games during the regular season, but they advance and
the Packers, who lost five straight, do not nine eight
and one Green Bays overall record. The Bears get their
first playoff win since twenty ten. The Rams three point
win came after Carolina had actually scored, taking the lead

(01:37:32):
with under three minutes left. Panthers did have two turnovers
in this home loss. Panthers finished eight to ten on
the season they were hosting because they were a division champ.
The Rams as a team twenty nine carries, one hundred
and sixteen yards rushing. LA led fourteen to nothing in
the first half. Carolina on fourth down conversions today oh
for three. There were four lead changes in the fourth quarter.

(01:37:54):
Another struggle on the road. The Rams only went five
to four on the road in the regular season. They
had lost a Carolina in late November in a close game.
They could be back at Seattle after losing a close
game there recently. We'll see what happens in the Sunday games.
Three playoff games coming up on Sunday. But the Rams
with the late TD pass win. Matthew Stafford had three

(01:38:16):
touchdown passes in that game, three hundred and four yards
despite a finger injury, and today Matthew Stafford was voted
the All Pro quarterback for twenty twenty five, ahead of
Drake May thirty one votes to eighteen. The Patriots and
May have the Sunday night game hosting the Chargers. Temperature
and the thirties for that the Pats fourteen and three
with the top ranked offense in the AFC and twenty

(01:38:39):
nine points per game. San Francisco will be at Philadelphia
before that on Fox TV four to thirty pm Eastern time.
The forty nine Ers allowed more touchdown passes than the
defense had sacks and interceptions combined. This year the Niners
might be twelve and five. That was something. I mean,
we're talking about Bears magic. That was a bit of

(01:38:59):
magic considering all the injuries the Niners had this season. Again,
no rain in the forecast for Sunday in Philadelphia after
all the rain they had today, tarp was on the field.
Very windy conditions expected in Philly tomorrow though, in about
forty degrees.

Speaker 3 (01:39:13):
Jaguars have won eight in a row.

Speaker 9 (01:39:15):
They'll be starting the three game schedule on Sunday one
pm Eastern hosting the Buffalo Bills, who had the number
one pass defense in the league. That's the good news.
The bad news the Bills run defense bottom five in
the league, and there is a Monday night game for
wild Card weekend. The Texans, who have won nine in
a row, will play at Pittsburgh. Wide receiver dk Metcalf

(01:39:36):
back from the two game suspension for the Steelers, Pittsburgh's
franchise at home on Monday night. Football has won twenty
three straight games. Temperature will be in the thirties. Houston
did go ten and two in conference games this year
on a bye this weekend. The AFC's number one seed
Denver and the NFC's number one seed Seattle, which has

(01:39:57):
won seven in a row and clinch the one seed
with a winn at San Francisco. Buffalo placed wide receiver
Joshua Palmer on injury reserve with a bad ankle. The
Falcons named former quarterback Matt Ryan as their new President
of football, new position for them. He'll lead the search
for a new head coach and a new general manager.
Atlanta hasn't had a winning season since twenty seventeen. They

(01:40:18):
finished with either seven or eight wins most years since then.
Former Ravens head coach John Harbass says he'll narrow his
list to three or four teams before interviewing for a
new job. The Chicago Cubs are signing third baseman Alex
Bregman to a five year deal. The Rockies acquired outfielder
Jake McCarthy from the Diamondbacks NHL Boston, a ten to
two winner over the Rangers. Tampa Bay won seven to

(01:40:41):
two at Philadelphia. Overtime victories for the Islanders in San
Jose and College Hoops. Wisconsin won at number two Michigan
ninety one eighty eight. Texas won tonight at number thirteen
Alabama byu edged Utah Vanderbilt one again beating LSU. Auburn
defeated number fifteen Arkansas. NBA sacer I knows Dennis Shruder
was suspended three games for a postgame confrontation. Clippers won

(01:41:04):
a close one in Detroit. San Antonio won at Boston,
and Charlotte took the late game one fifty to ninety
five at Utah. There is your final, Chicago. It's still amazing.
They won this thing thirty one to twenty seven winners
against Green Bay so ap reports at Matt and Lafour's
playoff record is three and six. There are only three

(01:41:27):
other coaches with that many games coached in the postseason
to have a worse winning percentage, and one of those
is a name that I thought of when you started
talking about coaches that can only take you so far,
Marty Schottenheimer.

Speaker 3 (01:41:40):
On that list, back to you, not a.

Speaker 2 (01:41:43):
Good name to be in a conversation with when we're
talking about playoff records. So all right to Segrea, have
a great evening. We'll see you tomorrow. Chargers are not
playing it so far, so Disaga. We'll be in with
the fellas Mark Willerney from salam and Arnie Spanier and
Chris Plank. Speaking of the Chargers, they are one of
six teams playing on Sunday, four games overall between Sunday

(01:42:07):
and Monday. So I'll tell you what, Mary, give us
a little football music, Ian, give us let's preview some
Sunday and Monday NFL playoff action.

Speaker 20 (01:42:20):
Yeah, we'll get to that Chargers one in just a
few minutes, but let's start with the Bills at Jaguars
game one pm Eastern Time tomorrow. Jacksonville's favored by a
point and a half in this one as the home team. Jmart,
who you got in this one?

Speaker 4 (01:42:33):
Will start with you, man, Honestly, I got the Bills.
I just I can't imagine that they're gonna go lose
this game. I understand. It's been an awesome coaching job
this year by Liam Cohen, and the Jags have been
really good. I think I just think this is too much,
too soon. I think this is the Josh Allen game.
I don't know how I feel about the Bills all

(01:42:54):
the way through, but I said before, I didn't care
about their regular season. I didn't care if they went
so seventeen to zero as long as they made the playoffs.
It was all about what they did in January. The
fact that they are not favored if they lose, McDermott
is out, I just cannot see them bring him back again.
I do not think they're going to lose this game, though.

(01:43:15):
I think that they are going to show up and
just overwhelm the Jacksonville Jaguars and win this game.

Speaker 2 (01:43:20):
Well, I'll tell you what, Jamart. We talked a lot
about Matt Lafleur's playoff record. How about this, Sean McDermott
has yet to win a road playoff.

Speaker 3 (01:43:29):
Game as the Buffalo Bills head coach.

Speaker 4 (01:43:32):
That's terrible.

Speaker 3 (01:43:33):
It's terrible. I'll tell you you know, Listen, I'm not
rooting for it.

Speaker 2 (01:43:36):
I love Josh Allen, you know, quite positive, maybe the
most gifted football player I've ever seen, at least the quarterback.

Speaker 4 (01:43:41):
Position on the short list.

Speaker 2 (01:43:43):
Yeah, I'm not rooting against it. I want to see
great players reach greatness on the field. I worry it's
not just going on the road. The Jacksonville Jaguars have
a great run defense. James Cook has been so important
to what they do. I've been talking about this for weeks.
The vibe, the vibes on I feel weird. They're a
team that's been up and down. I know they've been

(01:44:03):
good down the stretch here. Three of their last four.
The only loss was to that to Philly in that
game where they had a chance to win it on
the final play. I think I said three of the
last four. I meant to say five out of the
last six. But I bring it up to say I'm
getting weird vibes here. I'm gonna pick up. Yeah, I'm
gonna take Jacksonville to win. And I am with you

(01:44:24):
if you lose this game and you do not pull
the plug on Sean McDermott first thing Monday, especially with
John Harbord available, and I'll be really quick because we
got three more games to preview.

Speaker 3 (01:44:35):
We didn't get a chance to really.

Speaker 2 (01:44:37):
Talk John Harbon hour one because there was so much
going on. He told Fox today he plans on.

Speaker 3 (01:44:42):
Doing three to four interviews.

Speaker 2 (01:44:44):
So John Harbaugh knows he's the bell of the ball
and he is not gonna be rushed into anything. And
I think you're out of your mind if you lose
this game, and before the flight even lands in Buffalo,
somebody needs to be on the phone with John Harbaugh.

Speaker 3 (01:45:01):
If you lose, I'm taking Jacksonville to win, all right.

Speaker 20 (01:45:04):
Next up, four to thirty Eastern time on Fox, the
forty nine Ers are traveling to Philadelphia to take on
the Eagles. The Eagles, as the home team, are favored
by six points in this one. We'll start with you,
Aaron in this one.

Speaker 4 (01:45:14):
Who you got?

Speaker 3 (01:45:15):
Yeah, I've been back and forth on this one quite
a bit. You know.

Speaker 2 (01:45:19):
Philly's another one. They've just been up and down all
year long. Obviously had a chance to get the two
seed last week, rested most of their starters.

Speaker 3 (01:45:27):
Being at home. Given that the forty nine ers.

Speaker 2 (01:45:32):
Themselves are so banged up, and given that the defense
has really never you know, failed at Philadelphia. I know,
statistically they had a couple weeks there in the middle
where they weren't great. The defense always shows up. San
Francisco is so banged up. I just I do think
Philly gets to win. I think there's a ceiling to
what they can do this year. The offense has been

(01:45:53):
so inconsistent. I don't think they're going back to back,
but I will take them to win this game in Philly.

Speaker 4 (01:45:59):
Yes, so we agree on this one even though and
I've had a difficult time with this one too, But
here's what it comes down to for me. Yes, the
Whome field advantage makes a huge deal. But I feel
like Jalen Hurts plays his best in the postseason. Sure,
I think he has had some mediocre regular seasons, not

(01:46:20):
just this year, but we've seen this before. But he's
a real gamer and he seems to show up in
these moments. And I think Barkley he's been pretty disappointing
this year. I think he's kind of made more for
this moment also. But the other thing that we have
seen is the Eagles defense gets really nasty in the postseason.

Speaker 6 (01:46:38):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (01:46:39):
And I think brock Pardy is going to feel like
Jordan Love did last year, where he just nothing went
right for them. I just I think they're walking into
a buzzsaw. I think this is a it's a very
talented san Francisco team. But to your point, if they
can't get pressure on Hurts, he's going to pick them apart.
I feel like on it with his legs. We saw

(01:47:00):
it with Carson Beck in the College Football Playoff semi final.
I think Hurts is Hurts will will run the ball
more than we've seen him run it all season long,
and they're just not going to have an answer for that.
I think I think Philadelphia will win this game.

Speaker 3 (01:47:14):
All right?

Speaker 4 (01:47:15):
Ian?

Speaker 3 (01:47:15):
What do you got?

Speaker 2 (01:47:16):
So we agree on Philly over San Francisco. I took Jacksonville.
You took Buffalo in the first game, third game of
the evening.

Speaker 6 (01:47:23):
All right?

Speaker 20 (01:47:23):
How about the night game? We got the Chargers going
to Foxborough to take on the Patriots. Patriots as the
home team, are favored by three and a half.

Speaker 3 (01:47:31):
In this one.

Speaker 4 (01:47:31):
What do you think? Jmard?

Speaker 1 (01:47:32):
Who you got?

Speaker 11 (01:47:33):
So?

Speaker 4 (01:47:33):
This one's tough too, because it feels like everybody is
acting like the Patriots are or a foregone conclusion here.
I don't know. I mean Vrabel has lost as a
one seed before I've seen it. I was in the
building for it, as a matter of fact, covering the
Titans that year. Drake May is only in his second year.

(01:47:54):
This is a new environment for him. They've had some
off the field stuff to deal with over the last
couple of weeks as well. And then you got Justin
Herbert who's trying to prove things, Jim Harbaugh, who's always
trying to prove things. And the games that you think
the Chargers aren't going to show up in are the
ones that they tend to show up in. So I've
been torn on this one for days. I'm really looking

(01:48:16):
forward to watching this as a result of that, I
don't know. I don't think I can pick the upset, though.
I don't think that they're going to go on the
road and beat them in a cold Foxborough. I do
think the Patriots will win, but I think that the
Chargers have deserved more respect than I've heard them get
this week.

Speaker 2 (01:48:36):
I actually agree on basically everything. I myself have been
torn on this. I do think it's fair to question,
you know, not the fourteen to three record from the Patriots,
but who they beat along the way. Division was bad,
you know, split with Buffalo obviously the most recent game
they were up.

Speaker 3 (01:48:52):
Big, fell apart. Whatever.

Speaker 2 (01:48:54):
I just bring it up to very simply say, sometimes
it's just not your year, man. And with the Charger
it started in training camp with Rashaun Slater injury after injury,
Herbert's playing with the hand injury. It just it just
feels like there's certain years there's just a ceiling to
what you're capable of. You know, you just made the

(01:49:14):
college football parallel of like, so I was gonnaallel, Yeah, yeah, yeah,
Like I'm just trying to think of there was a
college football team I was thinking of.

Speaker 3 (01:49:24):
It doesn't really matter the point I'm trying to make.

Speaker 4 (01:49:26):
I sometimes you're just snake bit man.

Speaker 3 (01:49:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:49:28):
Sometimes it's just not your gear.

Speaker 2 (01:49:30):
And that's what I was gonna say. It feels like
this is just not Los Angeles' time. I hope we
see them healthy with boat tackles in twenty twenty six.
And when I say that, I obviously mean the season
the fall of twenty twenty six. Give me New England
to win at home. H But again, I'm with you,
if the upset does happen, I won't be shocked. As

(01:49:51):
you said, second year quarterback questionable wins when you actually
break it down. But I'm gonna go ahead and take
the Los Angeles Chargers in a close loss. So the
Patriots in a close win in that Sunday night game,
all right, last one we got the Monday night football game.
It's the Houston Texans going to Pittsburgh to take on

(01:50:11):
the Steelers. Houston's favored by three points.

Speaker 3 (01:50:14):
In this one. A field goal on the road. What
do you guys think? Tough one here?

Speaker 4 (01:50:18):
Start with you.

Speaker 3 (01:50:20):
Yeah, it's a tough one. Listen.

Speaker 2 (01:50:22):
You know, weirdly, I'm happy for Aaron Rodgers. Like I've
enjoyed the Aaron Rodgers Pittsburgh experience more than I thought
I would.

Speaker 4 (01:50:33):
Really hadn't heard much from him. He's just gone out
and played football.

Speaker 3 (01:50:35):
I said this to Dan Byer the other day.

Speaker 2 (01:50:37):
I don't know if like I don't think he was
on McAfee this year, right, So, I don't know if
that was a Mike Tomlin thing or a respect to
Mike Tomlin thing. If I'm not gonna make noise. It's
just been way quieter than I thought. And then for
him to be able to get the win last week.
And I know missfield goals all that, but you know,
without DK Metcalf, I also know that DK metcalf is back.

(01:51:00):
To know this Texans defense is insane, nasty, yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:51:03):
Nasty defense. Nine straight wins.

Speaker 2 (01:51:08):
Listen, I think, and you know, I think over the
next couple of weeks, J Mart, at some point we
go back and revisit our preseason predictions. But both of
us were not excited about Pittsburgh. Both of us did
not think they would be in in this position. And
to the point that I just made, you just made
on the Chargers, it feels like the ceiling to this
Pittsburgh team was about ten and seven, was finding a

(01:51:32):
way into the playoffs and was losing in Round one.
And so I know Pittsburgh hasn't won a playoff game
and basically a decade at this point, I don't think
that changes Monday Night in Pittsburgh.

Speaker 4 (01:51:42):
Man I defense usually travels and Houston's defense is large.
It's the best of the four units on the field
in terms of offense defense with the Steelers and the Texans.
I'm not as sure about the Texans offense right now.
I'm not sure how they move it running the ball,
but they're not playing against a great run defense. TJ.

(01:52:05):
Wat's gonna be playing with his hair on fire. There's
no question about that. Aaron Rodgers has not had a
ton of postseason success in many years, quite frankly dating
back through his last several years in Green Bay. I
want to pick Pittsburgh, I really do, them being at home,
it being an outdoor game. Boswell is a clutch kicker,

(01:52:26):
like I want to pick them, but I'm not gonna
do it because I'm gonna pick the better defense. I
think that will be the difference. I think that Houston's
just going to be too tough for Pittsburgh to move
the ball on. But I'm here to tell you I
don't feel great about this because I do think the
Steelers can win this game.

Speaker 2 (01:52:43):
So we both have Houston meeting Pittsburgh on Monday night.
We both have the Patriots beating the Chargers on Sunday night.
We both have the Eagles beating the forty nine Ers
on Sunday afternoon the Big Fox Game. And I will
take Jacksonville in the opener the first game of the day.
Jason has Buffalo, by.

Speaker 4 (01:53:05):
The way, what a what a slate man? Yeah's great
football over the next couple of days and all like
the drama. Both the games on Saturday came down to
the final minute, so you know, can't ask for too
much more we've already gotten. But this Sunday in particular,
it's just loaded with great football.

Speaker 2 (01:53:26):
Three great games on Sunday and then again the Monday
night game. Pittsburgh hosting the Houston Texans. We're hosting Fox
Sports Radio until two am Eastern Time. Will come back
wrap the show. One segment left Fox Sports.

Speaker 10 (01:53:38):
Are you.

Speaker 2 (01:53:43):
Mary bringing us in with some smooth jazz to and
the show Fox Sports Radio er towards Jason Martin. We
are live here in the Fox Sports Radio studios. Yes,
we are live one forty eight Eastern Time. Twelve minutes
from now. Bernie Fratto will follow us. Bernie again spent
the bulk of his career in NFC North Country in Detroit.

(01:54:04):
He's gonna have plenty on the Bears thrilling come from
behind win thirty one to twenty seven final score. Bears
were down twenty seven sixteen with under seven minutes to
go rally to win. If you missed any of today's show,
you know what you gotta do. Go ahead, just download

(01:54:26):
the podcast. It's gonna be available shortly after we get
off air. If you want to do us a favor,
can leave five star rating and review all you gotta do.
Just search Fox Sports Radio weekends wherever you get your podcast,
you'll find today's show right after we get off air. So,
Jay Mart, we kind of, you know, we've danced around
the John Harbaugh topic over the last couple hours. We

(01:54:49):
were interrupted by a thriller in the first the first
hour when we were talking about it. John Horbaugh did
tell the Fox Sports pregame show today that his plan
to interview with three to four teams. We know, according
to Adam Schefter, seven teams reached out to his agent
as soon as he was fired. At the time, there
were only six openings. Obviously Miami was one. Mike McDonald

(01:55:12):
was fired shortly thereafter. Do you think that Jim nut Jim,
I think Jim Harball will have a job by the
time we're on air next week.

Speaker 3 (01:55:23):
Do you think John Harball will have a job by
the time we're on air next week.

Speaker 4 (01:55:26):
You know, I'm not sure because I don't know that
he has to make that decision so fast. I think
that he's kind of in that spot where people are
going to wait until he makes his decision for all
the other dominoes to fall. He doesn't have to wait
for something else to happen first. By the end of
the weekend, he's gonna see some playoff teams lose and

(01:55:47):
potentially some jobs open there the Packers that may be
wide open right now, the bills could be open, you know,
fifteen sixteen hours from right now. There could be some
of those things still to come, and maybe he had
some Maybe he has his eyes on that. We've heard
that he likes Jackson Dark quite a bit. So the
Giants are probably certainly in the mix there some of

(01:56:08):
the jobs. You're not surprised he's probably not interested there Miami.
I don't think their quarterback situation is what you want.
But I think that's more it. It's just he has
the luxury to take his time because teams will wait
for him, at least the teams that are interested in him.
Where he's saying, Hey, you know you guys, I might
want to come there. I don't think anybody is going
to move on too quickly to hire somebody else, so

(01:56:32):
I would say no, I don't think he's going to
have a job yet. I think he's gonna interview, but
I think we're probably still a couple of weeks away
from that, just because I think he has the luxury
to kind of sit back and really make a conscious decision. Now,
if let's say Green Bay fires Matt Lafleur on Monday,
maybe he's ready for that because there's one of those jobs.

(01:56:55):
Or if it's Josh, I'm gonna go coach Josh Allen,
I don't need to think about that. I'll go ahead
and do that. But barring that opportunity, the one that
he just can't turn down immediately, I think he'll take it. Song.

Speaker 2 (01:57:07):
You know, this is kind of random, but I mentioned
Mike McDaniel being fired from the Miami Dolphins. So their
early reports I heard that he could be the new
offensive coordinator with the Detroit Lions, and I was thinking
about this. I get it because he's obviously a great
play caller all that. I also do think that Dan

(01:57:28):
Campbell mister testosterone and Mike McDaniel, who wears jeorts like
I just I get.

Speaker 4 (01:57:36):
It different mix.

Speaker 2 (01:57:37):
That's what I'm saying, Like, I get it, but it
does sort of feel weird to me.

Speaker 4 (01:57:41):
No, yeah, it does. Winning cures all. McDaniel's apparently really
likable guy and people really like being around him. Both
of them actually will have been failed Miami coaches.

Speaker 3 (01:57:54):
That's true.

Speaker 4 (01:57:54):
Yeah, so there's that tie in and you never know
what else, uh, what else is going on there? But
he doesn't. He's not a guy that tends to bristle
many people, at least from He has a pretty good
reputation in terms of being able to work with guys
and stuff. So I don't know that he's gonna be
some headstrong dude that's gonna be hard. It's definitely not
like the that synergy fit where these two guys are

(01:58:18):
built the same way. But maybe that's okay. Maybe somebody,
maybe they need somebody that's a little different from Dan
Campbell to kind of, you know, curb his impulses a bit,
and then McDaniel needs somebody it's a little bit tougher
in a few moments. Maybe they're the perfect mixture because
they they kind of fulfill the other's weaknesses.

Speaker 3 (01:58:38):
Interesting thought.

Speaker 2 (01:58:39):
Anyone anywhere else on the coaching carousel that intrigues you,
I mean a lot of open jobs. I'll say this
really quick. To get back to Harball for a second.
I don't think it's gonna happen. I'd like to see
him go to Vegas first. Overall, Pickano, like I want
Fernando Mendoza to be put in a position to succeed,
No different than Kaylee Williams with Ben Johnson, no different

(01:59:01):
than Justin Herbert.

Speaker 3 (01:59:02):
Would Jim Harbaugh.

Speaker 2 (01:59:04):
I don't think it'll happen, in large part because one,
there's going to be some good jobs available, including the
ones that are already available. I also don't know that
John would be super excited to be in the same
division as his brother, but that one's intriguing to me.
Anything else stand out on the cares.

Speaker 4 (01:59:20):
Only thing I'll say about the Raiders. I saw this
take a couple of different times this week on a
couple of different programs, that the Raiders need to just
back up the truck whatever it takes to get signetti.

Speaker 3 (01:59:30):
Please stop, thank you, please please stop.

Speaker 4 (01:59:34):
I understand what you're doing right. You're gonna get Mendoza.
Go ahead and get his coach. Let coach Sig stay
at Indiana, like, we don't need to do this. Let
do go ahead and win his national championship first. If
that's what's gonna happen, no disrespect to Miami. I think
that's what's gonna happen. We'll see, we'll predict it next week.
We got time because the game's not played until like March. Yeah,

(01:59:54):
but don't don't do this, man like Raiders, go go
do what you gotta do. But these takes are are
This stuff is tired, this is washed. Don't do this.

Speaker 2 (02:00:03):
I'll tell you what you know, what's not watch this show.
We got an awesome crew in the back. Thank you
to Mary Mack. Thank you to producer Ian who was
monitoring calls all night. Thank you to Lee in the
back for cutting up sound. Thank you for Steve de Sager,
Jason Martin. I'm Aaron Torres. Make sure to download the podcast.
A lot of ground covered, some great calls. Bernie Fratto

(02:00:24):
coming up next. Make sure to stay plugged in Fox
