guest tonight and I want to bring him right up now.
Form a reporter for the Las Vegas Son very popular
(03:55):
author has written among the books he's written, Phenom, The
Making of Bryce Harper and The Last Natural Gentlemen. Good
friend of mine by the name of Rob Misch resides
here in Las Vegas, and here's a great deal of
expertise on the subject we're going to talk about, and
that's the legalization of sports betting. See, we've just crossed
the first anniversary over the overturning of pasta. The Professional
(04:17):
Amateur Sports Protection Act of rob is states throw their
hat in the ring, talk a little about the national landscape. Well,
first of all, thanks for having me, Bernie. It's a
pleasure to be here. To date. Nevada is part of
about a dozen states that have some for form of
legal sports betting. Uh. It appears that a Tennessee bill
(04:38):
was waved through Friday without the governor's signature. New Hampshire
and Illinois might green light bills by the end of
next week, although Illinois is considered a long shot. As
you well know, Bernie, it is all very murky, very fluid.
There might be twenty two states by the end of
the year, and by the end of there could be
thirty states, so each one is different. To get a
(05:03):
lasso around this is just such a challenge. You really
have to stay up with it on a daily basis,
and uh it can give you some headaches. So, rob,
as we've crossed the first year anniversary, some states have
now dipped their tone in the water. But I understand
it's not necessarily been a panacea. Many states have not
necessarily met the revenue goals that match your projections. Right
(05:24):
New Jersey is doing very well, with a bit more
than eight percent of its business being done through apps.
People really love the mobile option, a lot of stuff
on that menu. However, Mississippi, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island,
those are among the states where the revenues have not
hit projected numbers. The bug eyed politicos believe many many
(05:48):
millions awaited them and guess what the politicals got something wrong. Um,
they failed to get the proper education or insights about
the true nature of the business. It's limb, marginal profit,
the appetite for gambling, and there's even been some disturbing
stuff that's happening right now, which uh is reason to pause.
(06:11):
In the Tennessee bill that went through the system yesterday,
Bob Ramsey, a Democrat representative in the state, attached an
official League data stipulation to the Volunteer States bill, saying
it existed elsewhere it does not. Since the quashing of PASPA,
(06:33):
there have been many assumptions that have made been made
that are patently false. They have gone unchecked. They are
just flat outlies. This is one of the most egregious
cases which others could use as precedent. That is what
worried people in the business, and that is what Illinois
put in its final bill, which at this moment is
(06:55):
going through channels for potential legalization by May thirty one.
But from what I read and here, a consensus is questionable.
That doesn't cloud or hide the fact that the Democratic
Representative Michael Zaluski included a mandate to use official league
(07:16):
data for in play wagers. That parrots the nonsense established
in Tennessee as president, which was based on a falsehood
with Rob mish las Vegas, author author of the book
phenomen The Making of Bryce Harper and The Last Natural
among other books. By the way, he does have a
project coming out in the fall. You will be hearing
(07:36):
about that. Stay tuned, and most likely we'll be having
robbed back in three or four weeks as sort of
a part B to this subject matter, which you're gonna
be hearing a lot more about this piggyback on what
you just referenced in the disturbing data issue there right
now is affecting Tennessee and Illinois on a go forward basis.
How does that become problematic? Well, it's going to be costly,
(08:01):
first of all. Um, probably not a big chunk of money.
But they're talking about a quarter percent of the gross. Now,
when you're talking about a lot of money, it sounds
pretty tame, doesn't it to the average person. However, what
these people also feel to fail to realize is that Nevada,
(08:21):
a good month, a good year for Nevada is making
three four percent, four percent, five percent is a very
good net for the Nevada Books. So let's just use
four percent as an example. If you're taking a quarter
percent of the gross, well, you're taking a quarter percent
of that four percent. So basically you're taking probably anywhere
(08:42):
from twelve to fifteen to eighteen percent of the profit
for the books, whose margin is slim to begin with.
It's an excellent point to make rob because, for instance,
they handle last year in the super Bowl here, I
don't know, like a hundred million something along those lines, right,
the books holds about three percent of that, But if
a quarter percent comes off the top, that's a much
bigger number than it sounds. While we're on that subject,
(09:05):
let's talk about folks out there across the country listening
on three sixty stations that like to bet are getting
there till wet. Perhaps they've been betting along far away places.
Perhaps they have wink wink not non you know, Uncle
Tony whoever, I don't care what you do, so I'm
not here to enforce, really to inform tutor the masses,
rob what don't they know? Give us some examples of
(09:27):
things you've heard rookie mistakes. Oh boy, Um, it's kind
of a long list, Ernie. I'll give you an example
that's really interesting. I was speaking with someone I know
in town. I can't name him, I won't name the company,
but he's a big wig and he's open four books
east of the Mississippi for this certain company. He during
the fall got a call from one of his books,
(09:51):
not a fan, not a patron, but from someone he
employs to write tickets when he employs. Yes, I believe
this is even a manager of some degree of this
certain sports book east of the Mississippi. This guy calls
and says, I'm gonna do a bad impersonation and forgive
me country. But the guy calls up and says, uh,
(10:13):
I don't Yeah, I don't have a handle on y'all's
new math. My friend said, um, well, what's what's the issue.
Maybe I can help you, and it was regarding teaser
parlay's as anybody who's placed to bet in Vegas knows,
you can make a parley bet and you're gonna get
four to one odds. If you twist that and do
a teaser bet, it's gonna be four four f o
(10:36):
R one odds. Six to one teaser is gonna be
six four one, which means if you make a parley
bet that's six to one. Let's say you bet ten bucks,
you're gonna get sixty bucks for winning. You're gonna get
your ten dollar principal back. You're gonna get seventy bucks back.
If you make a teaser bet that's six four one.
You are betting ten bucks to get sixty bucks. There's
(10:58):
no principle involved. You're not going to be getting that
ten bucks back. This is someone who my friend hired
to run this book, who's getting this call on a
Sunday morning. I'm wondering, what y'all Matthew using what is
six for one? He could not grasp the six for
one concept. Now, Bernie, that's a simple thing. That's one
(11:19):
small little issue that we're dealing with. In the world
of gambling. It's not that difficult to grasp. But if
people are having difficulty grasping that, what else are they
having a tough time getting a hold of? And Uh,
as far as betters are concerned, UM, I think you
alluded to it well. But I have a sports betting
book coming out in the fall. I dealt with two
(11:42):
people in particular who do this for a living. They
are bona fide professionals. They live off what they win
at the sports book. UM. I used one his name
and then this other person I used I had He's
the only person in the book I gave an alias
to uh. The aliases Van Smith. He lives on the
twenty three floor of a Strip high rise. Very smart.
(12:04):
He let me into all of his notebooks what he's
done for decades. Um. He told me that the biggest
problem he sees in the sports book is rubes coming
in with no plan. They have no idea. It's like
they have X amount to throw away and they throw
it away. There just is no concept of like you
and I were talking before the show, of of doing
(12:26):
this to make money. It's about making money. Van told
me that if you're out there, hopefully you're not betting money,
you're gonna lose that's a number one. If you're up
there with twenty bucks, and if you're going the gas tank,
you better get out of that line and put it
in the gas or groceries or what have you. You
(12:47):
better not be betting with money that you're gonna miss.
That being said, if you're going to try to do
this and make some money more often than you lose it,
have some sort of plan. And if that means going
into the book and studying numbers and studying the teams
for weeks and weeks and weeks before you make a bet,
then do it make educated bets. You make an overarching
(13:11):
point which is critical to me, and that is the
irony that the politicals who seek to take advantage and
perhaps capitalize off the market today actually despise. You alluded
to Bill Bradley talking about the degradation of our civilization
and betting on high school sports, which you can't bet
on kind of silly. It speaks to an out of
touch sort of mentality that the very people that want
(13:33):
to try to regulate this and profit from it, they
don't really understand how this game works. Being go Bernie,
and you brought up the biggest name of all because
Bill Bradley, the former hoopster. He penned the Bradley Bill,
and when it got quashed last May, he was the
one who was crying the most, and he said he
he alluded to something about how high school they're betting
(13:56):
on high school? What's next? The degradation of America? Like
you said. In fact, I talked to Jake Cornegan, the
head of the sports book of the Book of the
West k and I said, you know what, I know
the answer to this, but I want to double check
with you. Have you or do you know of any
Nevada book ever posting numbers on a high school event?
Of course not, he laughed. All But the point is,
if Bill Bradley is going to say something so acidine
(14:17):
and outlandish, that's a guy who you would think would
know the business inside and out, but he doesn't, and
that that becomes the group think echo chamber, which leads
to my final question. We've got about a minute. But
Rob Las Vegas, there was a misnomer. Folks actually thought
that as a result of this legislation it would hurt
(14:37):
Las Vegas quite the opposite. Tell us why well, ultimately, sorry,
Judy Garland, but I think there will always be no
place like Vegas. Um in March, Vegas is not hundred
ninety seven. I'm sorry. Nevada's hundred nine seven sports books
took in five million dollars. That was a record monthly handle.
Four million of that was on pro and college hoops.
(15:00):
That was an increase for an eighth consecutive year. For
that month. Three hundred forty seven million dollars of that
money was waged on the n c A Hoops tournament.
That was up forty million from eighteen. Uh, it's getting
legalized elsewhere. It's not gonna hurt Vegas, and I don't
think it's gonna affect Vegas. The Super Bowl fifty three
handle was down from the recorden hall of a hundred
(15:23):
and fifty nine million. This past February it was a
hundred forty six million, But that was due to few
or seven digit wagers and I'll be at some new
gaming jurisdictions. But if that had been an exciting matchup
in game and in play, wagers would have gone up,
and people think that another record would have been made.
So the Silver State is not hurting. Twenty years ago,
(15:44):
people thought that, uh, the off shore books were really
going to decimate the Las Vegas books. That was smart
people who said that too. It didn't. They didn't withered away.
It hasn't withered away. I think it's only getting stronger.
I completely agree. If each month goes by, we continue
to hear about new handles, record betting handles being set,
and I think it's only gonna get bigger. He is
(16:04):
Rob Mish. We're gonna have him back in about three
or four weeks to pick up and get a little
more granular on this subject matter having to do with
the legalization of sports betting. Now that we have a
year under our belt and we'll see what the future
takes this. Thanks a lot, Rob appreciated. Now, Sleepy, the
unthinkable has happened and we could go. We thought Toronto
(16:25):
would maybe get swept. We didn't say that, but that
was the narrative when I look Canada, they can't win
a Stanley Cup, but they might win an NBA Championship,
will they. Well, we're gonna tell you what we think

have our NBA Final set next Thursday, Golden State. We'll
visit Toronto, and I think Golden State's gonna win, probably
in six games. But let's see what happens. Because we
(18:57):
sat here a week ago Saturday night in the landscape
looked much different, but basically thanks to one big adjustment
that Nick nurse made. I think it turned the series on.
It's here and in this cut we're about to introduce Cee.
R J and Brad talked about the matchup adjustment the
Raptors made and as a result, it significantly changed the
dynamic of the series and perhaps the outcome of the
(19:19):
season for both teams. Not perhaps it did. It went
from looking like a possible fear the Dear sweep to
Joannaston company being sent home earlier than a lot of
folks thought they would have been. Let's give it a listen, Hi, Brad,
You've also got some numbers with Milwaukee, specifically, how through
a seven game series. One of the keys is how
(19:41):
do the coaches adjust? Toronto made an interesting adjustment. Yeah,
and it looks like they have. The adjustment that Toronto
has made is to put Kauai on Janice in Games
one and two. Kauai only guarded Janice r J nineteen
times combined in those two games. In Games three and four,
remember I let off the show in a segments saying, hey, nice,
(20:01):
looks like he's been struggling last couple of games. Well,
it's probably because Kauai has been autumn. Last two games
Kauai has guarded Janice seventy five times combined, about five
times more than he was guarding him in games one
and two, so nineteen times the first two games, seventy
five the next two and lo and behold, Janice is
(20:22):
playing significantly worse. Game three, Janice had his worst shooting
percentage of any game in the playoffs the last three years. Look,
the fact that Kauai Leonard could have this kind of
effect is not surprising to me. I saw him courtside
when he was at San Diego State. Even then he
was an elite defender, and I want to share some
tidbits with you that will really gets your attention, all right. First,
(20:46):
although Kauai is six ft seven, he's got a seven
ft three inch wingspan, and that creates tremendous pressure on
the player's guarding. Kauai also has freakishly larger chance larger
than the average man and wider as well, roughly the
same size as Shaquille O'Neil. That's how big his hands are.
That says a lot in His hands are always active
(21:08):
and the off the lead do turnover opportunities, which Kauai
takes full advantage of. Additionally, Kawhi Leonard has a forty
inch vertical leap, and it gives him the versatility to
guard much larger players. But wait, there's more. Kauai's defensive
fundamentals are tremendous. He has a classic defensive stance, his
arms are apart. He's always looking to disrupt the rhythm
of the ball handler when his opponent puts the ball
(21:30):
on the floor, and because his anticipation skills are so elite,
he's already in the head of his enemy. He'll strip
the ball, pick you clean and distracted to the point
of losing your composure. He can also block shots or
catch it from behind him. To top it all off,
his footwork is so good. He pressures the ball incredibly
well without ever filling In fact, Kauai went four and
(21:51):
twenty win games without filling out. There's no doubt there
is a causal effect by which Kauai, guarding the honest
completely flipped a series. And if you don't believe me,
remember Milwaukee had never lost three games in a row
this season. Now they lost four games in a row.
Kauai took matters into his own hands, and you saw
(22:13):
what happened. Sleepy before we get to the fact that
the Warriors are a one point favorite Thursday in Toronto
and Golden State is minus two fifty to win the series.
You've got a theory on why Toronto really took care
of business and basically swept Milwaukee fourth straight after losing
the first two. Yes, some crazy results, Burnie. You just
(22:33):
talked about the four losses in a row for Milwaukee.
In those four losses, Bernie, the Bucks scored three hundred points. Bernie.
If you go back to Game one, in the game
in which the Raptors lost, hundred eighty five shots in
that game combined Game two, one seventy nine, Game three four,
if you take out o t game six, let's just
go through this quickly. Hundred forty nine shot attempts. What
(22:56):
the Raptors did. They slowed the pace down. They they
really took probably about twenty or thirty shots away from
the Bucks as the game started to go on. They
slowed the pace down. They put Kauai on Jannese and
then when Kauai wasn't on, your honestly double teamed in
with Gasal. This was a coaching clinic. Yes it was
from Nick Nurse. Yes it wasn't holder. He looked lost
after game two and they couldn't figure it out. And
(23:17):
the odds said, even when it was to to Bernie
that the Raptors were still a massive underdog. It Will
opened up at what to eight minus two eighty for
the Bucks after it was too too was still too eighty,
Bernie at the markets. Everybody had this wrong. Everybody had
it wrong. We sat here last Saturday night. We didn't
make any bold predictions, but we didn't know this that
(23:38):
in the history of the NBA and its current playoff format,
when teams go up to own a series their fifty
six and five to close it out. We already mentioned
Milwaukee had not lost three games in a row all year.
In fact, they only lost two in a row once.
By the way, even after uh Toronto one Game three,
the group think echo Chamber narrative was well, that okay,
(23:58):
so they got their token win in Milwaukee win the
next two. Why did they say that will? At that
time Milwaukee was twenty two and one after a lost
nineteen and four against the number. Everything favored Milwaukee, everything
in terms of the past. But we now know that
the Bucks proved they are not yet ready for prime time.
(24:20):
In the second half tonight, UH asleepy there were three
of eighteen from behind the yark. Meanwhile, Fred van Vleet,
if he has another baby between now and UH Thursday,
who knows what he's gonna do. Iss the eleven three
pointers in the last two games. By the way, I'm
really watching games one or two very intently. I'll tell
you why this this this series does have my attention
(24:41):
because Golden State has managed to win twenty two straight
UH games on the road at least one road win.
Let me try that to get in English. And the
last twenty two playoff series that Golden State has engaged in,
they've won at least one road game. So it's presumed
that Golden State would at least get a split Thursday
(25:04):
and or Saturday. But how do we know this is
gonna be a little weird because and again you throw
out the regular season. We know that it's not as
significant as we'd like it to be. But the Raptors
were the only team the Warriors didn't beat this year.
As a matter of fact, sleep they played each other twice.
Toronto averaged two points in those games, won by an
average margin of twelve. Now, Durant played both of those games.
(25:27):
Quiently played one one game kau I played, he scored
thirty seven points. Durant scored forty points in those two games.
He will not play a Thursday or Saturday. Bernie, Here's
what I kind of think, and I don't know if
you agree with me. If you take any other team
in the NBA that is close to the Warriors, you
have to agree with me. It's got to beat the Bucks.
(25:48):
The Raptors just shut them down. So I think that
that makes this upcoming series a lot more interesting because
a lot of people aren't gonna give Toronto any credit
that's saying that they can't beat this Warrior's team. Well,
guess what. They just did it of the Bucks, and
they figured out how to slow them down. They did.
I wonder if they take that same game plan into
the Warrior thing and maybe it has success, and it's
like maybe you start rethinking. Maybe Toronto figure it out
(26:10):
how to slow down a fast pace. This series has
my attention, and when you looked at going into tonight's game,
it's pretty even. The Raptors defense is really a clicking.
They affected Milwaukee's offensive flow tremendously. They forced turnovers they
made the Greek freak very uncomfortable. And if you don't
believe me, the Milwaukee turned the ball over eleven times
(26:30):
both games, and they was led to points for Toronto,
they took full advantage. Now, I'm a little tired of
hearing about whether or not that the Warriors are better
or not without Durant. It's a crazy argument. It doesn't
really matter. They're highly successful whether he plays or not.
But I want to take a minute and tell you, folks,
(26:51):
let's not act like this is the first time this
has ever happened, meaning a star goes down, but a
team still goes on and wins the champion chip. I'm
gonna give you several examples, but first let's go to
the irrepressible Brian family with the latest. Hey, thank you
so much, Bernie. The Bucks went two games from the
NBA Finals to Taxidermy. Yeah, Milwaukee lost four in a
(27:15):
row as the Raptors knocked them out after Saturday's one
ninety four victory. Quiet Leonard led the way with twenty
seven points and seventeen rebounds as Toronto ripped off a
game changing three run in the second half. Leonard's selflessness
coming through in the postgame press conference. I just want
to win. I don't care about being best player. I
(27:36):
want to be the best team. Always said that, And
just before the season when we made the trade, Messiah
felt that way about me. He told me how he
felt and why he made the trade, and um, you
know it's turning out. It's turning out well now. I mean,
we're in the finals and we're not done yet. No,
they are not, and Drake is not done yet. Apparently
giving out courtside massages. He gave Nick Nurse a shoulder
(27:58):
rub after Toronto clinched their first trip to the NBA Finals,
and they'll host the Warriors on Thursday, the last game
to finish in Major League Baseball. On Saturday, the Angels
scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth to
nix the Rangers three tube. Jared Walsh had the game
winning RBI single. Hey, Online car shopping can be confusing,

Bramblett is infamous for his call of the kick six
when the Tigers miraculously won the Iron Bull Factor, Bernie
Fratto when the Geico Fox Sports Studios Brian it's a
distant memory now, But in this NBA tournament, the Raptors
one trailed the Orlando Magic. Are they a team of destiny?
(29:03):
I agree? I think they are burning. Why I say that,
oh you what, You're picking the Raptors to win. I
am picking them to win. And here's why the Drake
curse no longer exists. It has been lifted because the
Raptors have made the finals. And I will say that
Toronto certainly has a better chance than the Bucks to
beat the Warriors. And I think a lot of NBA
(29:24):
fans they want to see Golden State look vulnerable. You know,
dynasty's they can be all inspiring, but they're also boring.
The key guys, Marc Asol, he plays his best defense,
he hits threes. It's gonna be a nightmare matchup wise
for the Warriors, and I think anyone, I don't think
anyone is more deserving of an NBA final shot than Marcosol.
(29:45):
Well maybe kauaiin because you had the situations one Josh
and Petulia. But by the way, I'll tell you, Brian,
you gotta get to Vegas in because Toronto's plus two
or five now before they tip off Thursday. Ryan bur Shinger,
do you have any thoughts on this? Is Toronto possible
a team of destiny? I'm not quite as bold as
Brian Finley. I I do not think that Toronto as
(30:07):
the chosen ones to slay the Warriors. Nice word play there,
my friend. Yeah, I'm kind of with you. Look, I'm
intrigued by this series. I'm gonna watch it, of course
I'm gonna watch it, but with not a John just die.
I think this this could be a contin a competitive series.
I still think Golden State will probably win in six.
(30:27):
That's just my off the cuff opinion. Before we get
too deep into this. When we sign on next Saturday night,
they'll be two games that have been played. And I
gotta say this like a tool. Larne Spaniard Chris Plank
about an hour ago. You had to figure sleepy. There
was just a matter of time before Jeremy Lytton led
team got to the NBA Finals re member, he said,
he's had twenty six quality minutes in the playoffs. So
let's not poop poo Jeremy Lennon. By the way, this
(30:50):
has to be bitter sweet for the country of Canada,
a wonderful country, because they cannot want a freaking Stanley Cup.
They haven't won one since ninety three. But now they're
not king on the door of an NBA championship. By
the way, the last time they won the Stanley Cup
was in Montreal beat the l A Kings and the
Marti me Surly Curvestick fiasco. Barry Mulrose was the coach
(31:10):
of the Kings. O. By the way, the Toronto Blue
Jays also one of the world series that are but
I digress. One of the storylines I'm getting tired about
hearing is whether or not they're better without Durant and
what's gonna happen, And really it's taken on a life
of its own. It's a conversation I'm not interested in having.
I would say this, though, don't act like this whole
(31:31):
situation hasn't happened before, meaning that when a star player
goes down, a team can't still continue on to bring
its fan base to the Promised Land. We have plenty
of great examples, not the least of which where the
nineteen seventy two Miami Dolphins. Remember they went seventeen oh
or oh, you know all about it, Mercury Morris, don Shula.
(31:55):
Look in week but what if I told you take
a walk down memory Land with me real quick? In
Week five against the Chargers. They were the San Diego Chargers.
Then Hall of Fame quarterback Bob Greacey, the starting quarterback
for the Dolphins, broke his ankle. He goes down Week five.
A thirty eight year old journeyman quarterback by the name
(32:15):
of Earl Moral for Michigan State. By the way, he
was on his sixth NFL team. He stepped in and
got the undefeated Dolphins to the Promised Land, winning Super
Bowl six over the Redskins. How about the Lakers. I
was there, I was an intern of the Forum. In
Game five versus Philadelphia in the NBA Finals, Cream Abdul
(32:36):
Jabbar injured his ankle didn't even make the trip to
Philadelphia for Game six. Now, I remember it like yesterday
because pundit said this was the opening that Julius Irving
and company needed to topple the upstart Lakers. That's until
some kid named Magic Johnson jump center, played all five positions,
scored forty two points, and he led the Lakers to
the title in his rookie season. Look Drew bledso went
(32:59):
down with the New England Patriots in two thousand one.
You know what happened? Tom Brady came in still playing
the usually Devils, had a situation with Marty Brodur, their
goalie back in OH nine. They ended up getting beat
in the playoffs, but people thought their season was over.
It was And how about lets up the college rinks.
In two thousand and fourteen, Ohio States starting quarterback Braxton
(33:22):
Miller a two time Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year,
he suffered a shoulder injury in preseason camp had to
take a medical red shirt. What happened? JT. Barrett steps
in as a red shirt freshman, grows up overnight. He
leads the buck Eyes to the Big Ten title, and
what happens? He breaks his leg in the season finaleganst Michigan,
a third stringer by the name of card L Jones
(33:43):
steps in behind Barrett. He leads Urban Myer's team to
wins over Wisconsin, Alabama, and Oregon to win the House
States first national championship since two thousand two. There are
plenty of other examples. You get my point now, I
would say that US. I also think the Golden State
(34:03):
Warriors have a pretty significant coaching edge sleepy in Steve Kerr.
I you know, we've talked about the fact that the
Warriors don't really get enough credit with their defense and
their defensive chemistry, the way they pitch trap hedge. They're
phenomenal defensively. You don't get to this, you don't get
to the NBA finals. What is this five in a
row without doing that? Right? I love Steve Kerr, always have.
(34:27):
I remember we needed at the University of Arizona, smart player,
great shooter, very successful under lud Olson. Let's not forget
he played with the Chicago Bulls and a guy by
the name of Michael Jordan's for Phil Jackson thinks those
those are pretty good influences. Then he goes to San
Antonio Spurs and who does he learned under Gregg Popovich.
(34:48):
What gives Kerr such a great coaching edge simple experience.
You cannot substitute the experience and finals experience that Kerr has.
I think they have a significant coaching edge. And by
the way you pointed it out in the B block,
uh the A block. What a great job Nick Nurse
did out coaching Milwaukee. But Kerr has a certain awareness
(35:09):
and because he's been here so many times, he really
understands the dynamic of the NBA playoffs and four straight
seven games series. He understands this is a war of attrition.
He's already lost Cousins durant Iguadala filed out one game,
he was hurt, Green filed out versus Houston Draymond doesn't matter.
Kurr knows how to delegate roles. He knows how to
(35:30):
move all the chess pieces. He understands the gauntlet nature
the playoffs season and the toll it takes on players
mentally and physically. Steve Kerr has an incredible intuitive feel
to put players in position for success. And even if
it's a quick adjustment with seven seconds left in the
quarter to get one key stop, He's not afraid to
go to the end of the bench and pull somebody
who almost never plays if he feels he season angle sleepy.
(35:54):
We haven't gotten your prediction. You care to give one?
He do you need more time to research? I want
to see what happens in game one because I feel
that the Raptors, uh, you know, the way that they
took care of the Bucks in four games straight. I
think that I'm gonna get a better picture when these
two teams meet up in the finals. Alright, fair enough, Uh,
one thing we haven't talked about. The Warriors will have
had an eleven game, eleven day layoff rust. For it's
(36:17):
the old argument rest versus rust. How does that affect
the Warriors if at all? I don't think it affects
them at all. I think what it does is it's
going to give them more time to get a little
bit more cohesive because now Duran's not there, now Cousins
isn't there, and now they're playing, you know, a little
bit more pressurized basketball being that they're going through the
playoffs now, I think the rest will help them a
little bit. Bernie, all right, well, it's gonna be fun
(36:39):
to watch. I think the Kauai Leonard factor is it's
something to it's it's a dynamic that wouldn't have existed
and we never really saw this coming. On the other side,
we've got best bets and we want to talk a
bit Draymond Green and Frankly how he's almost growing up
(37:00):
in the last month and how that could affect the
finals as the Golden State Warriors go for three p

I want to thank my broadcast team back in Los Angeles,

an outstanding job. Could not do the show without your
Ryan Burr, singer, Brian Finley, Chris Perffett and Bull Benson
joined us tonight as he's learning the ropes, and of
course my onset engineer, Sleepy J. You'll hear his best bet.
He's got two tonight in just a minute. But we
(39:52):
have to give a quick O. Monster Draymond Green like
him or hate him. In the last month, he's had
a metamorphosis. And in this cut, r J and Physic
explain how Draymond Green Frankly, he's really benefited by the
absence of Kevin Durant, but moreover, he's hit a maturity
level that's really enabled him to be at the top
of his game thanks to some matters he took upon
himself to become a more well rounded player. Let's give
(40:14):
it a listen. It's the style of play of Golden
State is more like the old style play pre Durant,
and I think that specifically suits Draymond and his skill set. Yeah,
and Draymond, he was having a terrible year. Frankly, he
was averaging only seven points seven rebounds. That's such a
down year for him. And we talked about here straight
(40:35):
out of Vegas earlier in the year. He's not worth
hardly anything. While now Draymond he's gotten serious. He's lost
some weight, he had a toe injury, he's recovered from that.
He's playing his best basketball the year. He's getting almost
twice the points in the playoffs. R J, as he
got during the regular season, admitted that when Durant went
down he felt he needed to take a more effective
leadership rule and as Durant s wall him and he
(40:57):
just averaging thirt or four points a game, among other things.
Is it's not gonna be easy to replace. But Steve
Kers noticed it, his teammates have noticed it, his opponents've
noticed it. In fact, Damian Lillard complimented Draymond Green highly
after the Portland series, and Draymond Granny credits his fiance,
his mother, and even the influence of his two year
old son, Draymond Jr. Force transformations. In the end, people
(41:21):
are still gonna hate on Draymond Green, but even if
you don't want him on your team, you still don't
want to have to play against him. Sleepy, we've come
to that time in the show. It's everybody's favorite time
best bets, and uh, we've been doing pretty well on these,
and I understand you've got two best bets tonight. Yeah, Bernie,
(41:42):
let's jump ahead a couple of weeks because I think
we may lose some value here on tiger Woods US Open.
I'm gonna go ahead. I'm gonna play Tiger Woods to
win that tournament. Right now, you can get him attend
to one Bernie, you know, the closer we get to
the US Open, Tigers would odds are gonna end up dropping.
I wanna, by the way, I want to give you
a top credit. You love Tiger. Before the Masters, you
pulled a ticket at fourteen to one, and you came
back on Brooks KPCA at ten to one at the
(42:05):
p G A continue. I want to make sure that
the folks knew you got your props there. Hopefully I
I hit the trifecta here. Let's jump to my second
best bet, real easy here, Bernie, NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.
I'm gonna go ahead. I'm gonna play the Boston Bruins
minus one seventy the series. I'm very much with you
on that. And before I get to my best bet,
I want to share with the folks. And I was
(42:25):
on with Arnie and Chris Plank about an hour and
a half ago. Chris had asked a good question about
is there any exposure in the NHL playoffs because in
terms of the books, because let's face it, the NFL playoffs,
they don't get a lot of run, right, and they
haven't played a game, and what a week now, it's
gonna be so it all starts Monday, and the answer
(42:47):
is yes, We've got sort of an interesting story developing
here in Las Vegas because between Caesar's William Hill Sports
Books and the South Point, they've got over a million
dollars in exposure. If the St. Louis Blues captured the
Stanley Cup, let me explain. See back on January three,
when St. Louis had the worst record in the NHL,
you could have got the Blues plus four hundred to
(43:10):
win the Stanley Cup. They then went on an eleven
game winning streak. The herron interim coach by the name
of Craig Burruby, a tough guy back in the day,
played when when these journeymen NFL NHL players, And over
the next six weeks between January three February, a ton
of money came in on St. Louis. Not all sent,
you know, large amounts, but anywhere from two d fifty
(43:33):
dollars to two thousand, and that drove the line from
four hundred to plus three hundred plus two hund all
the way down to about eighteen to one. So if
the St. Louis Blues win the Stanley Cup, Caesar's South Point,
William Hill they're exposed to the tune of north of
(43:53):
a million dollars. Now, I like your Boston pick, Sleepy,
because I think overall Boston has a better power play
and that can matter. They've also got a triffic goaliean
to ca Ask. But St. Louis also has a hot
young goalie who has really made a name for himself
this year, by the name of Jordan Bennington. Between the
(44:14):
two of them, they've been on fire. Bennington hasn't allowed
more than two goals in the game and his last
nine starts and in the playoffs. Benning Jordan Bennington St.
Louis's goalie, He's twelve and seven with a two point
three seven goals against average. Meanwhile, Boston's two Carask He's
twelve and five in the playoffs with a one point
eight four goals against average. And like a lot of
(44:36):
heavyweight fights, I expect this to start slow and build
this series. I'm gonna get to my best bet in
a second for Monday. But so you folks know, as
Sleepy said, for the series, if you bet the Bruins
their minus one seventy. If you bet St. Louis coming back,
their plus one fifty for Monday's game, Boston is and
(45:00):
it's won fifty and St. Louis is plus one thirty
six soul. There you have it, Boston St. Louis. St.
Louis has it one since nineteen seventy. No, they they've
never won. They were an expansion team and they got
to the Stanley Cup their first three years. They haven't
been to the Stanley Cup since nineteen seventy. So I
(45:22):
think this Boston Brewing team Sleepy, is ready to do
some damage. And I think they're the tougher of the
two teams. I think that the series will probably go six.
Well my suit well, although you as you know, that
doesn't seem to matter in the NHL playoffs. But what
I just referenced was like most heavyweight fights, I expect
this to start slow, with a lot of four checking
(45:43):
and a lot of bodies in the neutral zone. I
think they're gonna create speed momps for both offenses, both defenses.
So my best bet for Monday, I like the under
a five and a half goals for your Memorial Day
best bet. By the way, these teams were on your
teams throughout the season. If you just blindly bet the
(46:03):
under in the Blues and the Bruins every game this season,
you'd have been eighty eight and sixty eight. That's a
cool fifty. That's not bad under all right, that's gonna
do it for this week's edition is straight out of Vegas.
