Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports. Oh what's going on everybody?
Hope you're enjoying your Saturday evening. I gonna tell you,
big man, I almost didn't show up here tonight. My feet,
my feet are kind of annoying me, you know, and
I just sit out, not even show up, you know.
But I decided to gut it out in anti Antonio
Brown like fashion. What is the deal with this guy

(00:23):
over here? Huh? He's shown a propensity to be immature
and make terrible decisions. Yes, the ads to say the least.
You know, he has a He's a tremendous talent, one
of the top three receivers in the league, hands down.

(00:45):
But from Facebook Live in the locker room to the
antics coming to the air hot air balloon coming to camp,
to now being goofy enough not to wear the proper
footwear in a cryo chamber. That doesn't even make sense
to me. And anyone who does a cryo chamber knows

(01:08):
got to do it. You have to do it. It's
not even a I'm just gonna go in here barefoot?
What and the latest? Now, it's not just the frost
bitten feet that's the storyline right now, right his feet
got frost bite or because he wasn't wearing the proper
foot gear for the cryotherapy session. Now we get helmet
gate included here. That's just another goofball crazy, just wacky.

(01:35):
He's not allowed to wear the helmet that he prefers
because it's outdated. It's a safety issue. You might remember
this with Tom Brady where there was a grandfather period
where they're like, Okay, you're used to the old school helmet,
you can wear it another year, but you're gonna have
to switch over to this new technology. And so all

(01:56):
these other players they've had to do the same thing.
Antonio Brown is like, nah, not working for me, and
I might not ever again. Yeah, because he can't worry
his preferred to helmet. No one's walking away from thirty
million dollars. I know that Antonio Brown's it does some
crazy off the wall things. I don't think he's even
that crazy to walk away from thirty million, and he's
goofy man, and I just some of the decisions, some

(02:19):
of the things we just mentioned, it just doesn't make
sense to me. At some point, you're going to have
to grow up. You're going to have to grow up
You're going to have to be able to mature and
make decisions not only that benefit you and your health,
but your family. Like you can't do things like put

(02:42):
your body at risk. Right number one, with the cryo machine,
I do cry Oh at least two three times a month.
Get out of here? Really? Yeah? Still right now? Nice?
It's it helps a lot, big time. Uh. The second
thing is, you know with this helmet thing, that's like saying,
remember seat belts weren't legal. Remember that. Remember people balked

(03:06):
when you had to put what if? What if I
don't want to wear my seat belt? What if I
don't want my shirt wrinkled? Are my dress wrinkled? How
about not wanting your face to go through the windshield? Right?
How about we make it a law so we can
protect you from you? And a lot of times that's
what rules are in laws in in our society are

(03:29):
put in place for it to protect us from us.
If the helmet is outdated and it's not safe, why
would you fight to wear it? Yeah? Oh totally. He
says that he can't see the ball as well with
the new helmet. That's just according to him. But this
goes back to you can't put yourself above the team.

(03:53):
I remember, man, going back into the stone age. I
remember playing grade school football and there was a high
school team that actice nearby and they all wore shirts
that said Team I, and I'm like, Team I. What
the hell does that mean? It was team over yourself,
like team over an individual. And that's the weird thing

(04:13):
about Antonio Brown. As hard as he works and he grinds,
he will always choose himself over the team. And this
is just the latest installment of that. You're gonna let
a helmet, something as small as a helmet prevent you
from practicing and being there in your first year with
a brand new team. Come on, man, it's it's got
to be bigger than you. And he just doesn't look

(04:34):
at it like that. The helmet is discontinued, you know
what I mean. They don't make it anymore. You know
why they don't make it anymore because it's a bunch
of athletes walking around with bubble gum in their heads. Yeah,
it's unsafe, right, it's not safe. We had a movie,
We had a huge lawsuit because of concussions. The NFL

(04:57):
is trying to do what he can do to rectify
the situation, and bottom line is football is a contact sport.
Things are gonna happen, but they're investing a lot of
time and money in to the technology and equipment that
can help subside some of those collisions and concussions. They
have new concussion protocol all which I am a complete

(05:19):
fan of one thousand percent because I played in the
era where you didn't come out of a game because
of becussion got dinged. It wasn't called concussion then it
was like how you got dinged? You didn't come out
of a game for that. Now they take you out
of the game. You gotta go sit down. So we

(05:39):
can't do this. And the fact that he's balking at
it and and threatening air quotes to quit football if
he doesn't want If he if every other receiver in
the league can see out of the new help and
can see the ball, then and he can't, he's not
one of the top three receivers in the league, then yeah,
that's a good point. That's the bottom line. He's not

(05:59):
he's not one skilled as he is, and he shouldn't
be paid as one. Then if you can't see the
ball in a new helmet, I don't know what to
tell you can't pay you like the TOYP receiver. That's
just your kryptonite. Is new helmet. I can't do any
Is that how we stop you? Okay? Is that? How
is this? Is this how your career comes to an
in the new helmet? Unstoppable, cannot be guarded, can be guarded,

(06:21):
can't press him on the line, straight seasons, a hundred
plus catch, tremendous route runner, I'm I'm the extension to
the ball. Oh he can't see out of the helmet,
new helmet, powerless, You can't do it. Where we're at.
This was something on Hard Knocks that debut this week,
and it was tremendous, by the way. But John Gruden
had a brief conversation with Antonio Brown and there's a

(06:44):
part in it that it alludes to what we're talking
about here, big man, check this out. Can you do
a walk through without slow? Can't you just turn it up?
Mant only and let's give give the body a break
care and just get cool now that he's got no
where they got on the team, got break juice. Okay,
the last part, you know, I gotta let these guys
know what I bring to the team. Got to bring

(07:05):
some juice, you know. And this is the thing, man,
it's not just on the field. It's off the field.
It's not causing distractions, it's not creating drama. He thinks
it's if I put up numbers, boom, look at what
you got. It's not just that goes way beyond just
putting up numbers, you know. And and that's I think

(07:28):
that's I think that's the problem because and I don't
want to be like the old fogy like I'll just
say this generation ideals of leadership are different. Mhm. You
look at oh b J. If I perform on the field,
I'm a leader. That's not necessarily true. If you perform Carmelo,

(07:56):
Like if you look at some of these like um
um um Uncle Drew, m right, Kyrie Irving, I perform
on the court, I'm a leader. You No, you're not right.
Oh no, that's not such a horrible leader. So you
look at Antonio Brown, He's like I'm showing him what, like, yeah,

(08:18):
you got all the town in the world, got all
the town in the world on the field, Ezekiel Eli
all of these guys. Yeah, but you do goofy things
off the field and in the locker room. How can
someone leave you? Right? I can't follow that. And that's
the other part here is reportedly their media members are

(08:39):
saying that he's been late to meetings, he's unfocused in
the meetings, he's unreachable while being away from the team,
he's not there for practice. Part of it is the
frost bitten feet. Part of it is is reluctance to
embrace the new helmet, and they can't get ahold of
the guy is unreal. Antonio Brown is a sixth round

(09:01):
draft pick. Pittsburgh allowed him to grow into this what
we're seeing now, Right. You want to be humbled, you
come in at the end of the draft, you work
hard and get your I know right, Humility is huge, sure,
And if you've gone from being a humble, work hard,

(09:24):
show up every day, prove yourself on and off the
field to this guy, then you've gone unchecked. And I
said it last year, I said it the year before.
I blame the Pittsburgh organization when you let someone go
unchecked like that. This is the manifestation of that. Right, Well,

(09:47):
there's a lot of truth to it. You you would,
you know see this for sure? Being a parent yourself,
I'm not one, hopefully someday knock on wood. But if
you see a kid just really acting out, I'm not
talking a little kids stuff, their tired, the little sassy.
You know, we're talking completely acting a fool. You know

(10:07):
they've been allowed to do that repeatedly. And that's the
thought with Antonio Brown, like he is acting out to
such a degree they can't even get ahold of the
guy while he's skipping training camp. The funny thing is
my wife tells me all the time, baby, you can't
parent everyone's children. Yes the hell I can. I am

(10:29):
the community parent. If your son is at the park
pushing kids off the slides and throwing sand in people's
faces at five six years old, and you're not saying anything,
and my son is affected by that, guess who's going
to parent? Hey, uh, don't do that. We're not doing that.
We're not doing that. We don't do that. Here, put

(10:50):
that sand down? Right? Where are your parents over there
on the phone? Right it happened? Looked? I have a
eight in a five year old. I see this all
the time. I see it in class and my kids class.
My wife is is a is a room mom. She
goes and volunteers or times in these classrooms, and she
comes home like our sons are saints. Right, you always

(11:15):
as a parent, and I'm I'm gonna get you ready
for this because you will be a parent. You'll be
a good parents. You you think, okay, God, my kids
out of control, right, like, oh my god, they won't
do this, they won't do that, And and you're just like,
oh my, I hope they're not maniacs out in the world.

(11:35):
And then you get around other kids and you're like,
oh God, my kids are amazing. I promise you you're
going to have that moment unless you're the parent of
the kid who's out of control. You just let it happen. Right, Yeah,
that's where we're at with Antonio fun Factory from salam overall.

(11:58):
Pick Antonio Brown one hundred overall about that. But the
thing the thing with Antonio Brown is he's he's a
victim of his own resume, right, Like some people look
at are you familiar with who I am? I'm Mr.
One hundred catches six straight seasons. I'm putting the numbers

(12:18):
left and right. I'm seven time pro bowler, I'm this,
I'm that. And he's gotten into the mindset of he's arrived.
Michael Thomas. Yeah, look at the Saints. No, no, look
at Julio Jones. Do you think he acts like that?
Are we constantly going back and forth with about Julio Jones?

(12:40):
Michael Thomas, is this an ongoing thing? You would love this?
I read something today with True Brees. He was doing
an interview with The Athletic and he says, quote, by
no means have I arrived. I had a coach tell me,
as long as you're green, you will continue to grow.
But as sue and as you're ripe, you'll soon be rotten.

(13:03):
So as soon as you think you know it all
you are done, I am still green. I still got
things to learn. End quote. How about that? Look at
how accomplished Drew Brees is And He's like, I still
gotta learn. I gotta learn. I still gotta prove myself
that sort of thing. Antonio Brown's like, I'm maybe I've arrived.
All that talent. I see you see it all the time.
See guys with all this talent and they just don't

(13:23):
get it. Yeah, yeah, that's right. I'm Brian no easy
from Salam. We're coming to you live from the Getico
Fox Sports Radio Studios. Fifteen minutes could save you fifteen
percent or more on car insurance. Visit Geico dot com
for a free rate quote. All right, coming up next
from the Getico Studios. A lot of people could be
very wrong about this player. I'm Brian No Easy from Salam.

(13:47):
This is Fox Sports Radio, Brian No. He's he from
Salam here on Fox Sports Radio. We're coming to here
from the Geico studios. You know, I just received eve
fantastic news from Salam. I just was talking to our
guy Don Brown, technical producer on this show, and I

(14:09):
was like, what's going on, Don Brown? How's your week? Ben?
It's like, oh, good Man, same old, same old. And
I was thinking to myself, I was gonna be like,
do you have any elpoyo loco? And then I remembered,
I'm like, Don's never had it. We've had a conversation
about this on the air, and so I'm thinking, now
I'm not gonna ask him about that. Let's him about
Taco Bell. He's very fun about Taco Bell. Is gonna

(14:29):
ask the last time he made a run for the border? Right?
And before I started to ask him that he hits
me with I had some el poyo loco. He has
had it finally, he is now in the fraternity. How
was it down, Brown? Didn't blow your mind? You know,
it actually was a lot better, uh than I thought

(14:52):
it was being then I thought it would be. You know,
I was totally sleep totally sleeping on it. Yeah, I
mean that's just I got a chicken burrito. It was
pretty fire, you know, so shut nice. I just that
was the last thing I expected to hear this evening
from It warmed my heart to hear Don Brown say, hey,

(15:14):
I had some elo loco. It's like beautiful, that is awesome.
We're making strides on this program over here, by the way,
I uh, I sent a tweet out to you from
and a couple of others, Jonas Knox, David Gascon. They
were talking trash, all three of you were talking trash
about the greatness of long John Silver's last week, and
so I, out of spite, had some this week and

(15:38):
sent a picture to all you guys on Twitter. So
you know, I just had to how it was good.
It's very good. It doesn't look good, well, looks can
be this evening in life. I mean, it really doesn't
look it looks like the fish and the shrimp have
been fried in oil old that they use for the month. Well,

(16:07):
you know what I'm saying when I say that, right,
like I do. It looks very dark, just dark food,
right like normally chicken, like a chicken plank or like
fish like that. It's it's a little light light right.
It's not saturated in oil. And the reason is that
because the oil is dirty Number one, because they've fried
sixteen tons of fish and and and shrimp without changing it.

(16:33):
So that's why it looks like that. That's what you cut,
that's what you're putting in your body. Deep fried, you know,
deep fried. I think they put it up extra ease
in that when it comes to the LJ has deep frying.
I think that's how they get down. You know, have
you ever had it long? John? Yes? When's the last time?
How long ago? I was probably thirty years. You know what,

(17:01):
this has got to be our next pet. It's gotta
be one of the stipulations. If I win, you have
an LJS meal. Yeah, maybe we'll look at some over
unders team wise, right NFL season is too far away,
maybe some preseason right now? How about Patrick Mahomes playing

(17:22):
the entire first quarter tonight for the chiefs Andy Reid says, oh, yeah,
fifty touchdown passes. That's nice, but this is this year,
so get out there. That I was. I was a
bit shock that players like Kyler Murray and doing has
because these guys aren't playing more in the first preseason games.
Murray one series. I'm like, wait a second, Yeah, what

(17:45):
part of the game is that? That's right? Look at
Daniel Jones of the Giants. Yeah, like that, where are
we going with that? Like, what's the point of That's
what preseason is for. Yeah, especially for those guys. Yeah,
if those guys are going to be your guy. And
Daniels looks great and that small sample size very small,

(18:06):
very small, but look good, accurate, decisive, that's the thing
you could look at it like, you gotta look at
who they're playing against. This is the UCF rule, right,
You got to consider the competition. If you're going right
down the field against second string guys, you take that
into account. But it's if you thread the needle and
it's against the second string guy. That touchdown pass was

(18:30):
right on the money. That was tight coverage, threaded the needles,
threatened the needle making, the throw the reeds right, the
the making, the timing, all of those things. No matter
who you're planning against, those things need to be there
right and and not exposing these guys who are gonna
come out opening week, especially for Kyler Murray and be

(18:52):
your guy. You need to put him in every sitter,
single situation, two minute everything. You can sit back and say, okay,
we got three more uh preseason games, but you don't
know what. He maybe sprays his thumb or something and
he has to miss the next two. You can't let
these opportunities go. Like practices is. As as much as

(19:17):
veteran guys don't like preseason, it's the only way you
can really evaluate talent. That's the only way you can
evaluate talent because guys, I've seen it, guys are all
world in practice. I'm talking about, Oh, get to the quarterback,
dude this and get to the game. You're like, wait,
wait a second, uh huh, well yeah, And especially for

(19:37):
a guy like Daniel Jones, where these rookie quarterbacks, Dwayne Haskins,
Kyler Murray, it's about reps, reps, reps, reps, and if
you could get some live in game action and more reps.
I don't know why you're getting your next guy ready?
Why why are you playing the third string guy for
the second half? Wasn't wanna play like five quarterbacks? I'm like,

(19:58):
what are they looking for? What? Why is this happened?
Like I just didn't understand what that was about, you
know what I mean? And now now not having the guys,
the older guys who've been in this league and who
are established play at all in the first preseason game,
I get that. Nobody. You don't need that. Two Breez

(20:19):
doesn't need to be out there. Teddy Bridgewater needs those reps. Yeah,
even Leo Jones, he's not playing in the preze. We
don't need that sense. We don't need to see that
from you. But a guy who's been in the league
for two months, one series. I'll tell you what a

(20:42):
lot of people are gonna be wrong about Daniel Jones.
If he turns out to be a good quarterback for
the game, it will be wrong. I know it was
a reach. Sixth. Overall, there's hardly anybody saying, hey, let's
slow it down here, Daniel Jones could be a good quarterback.
Then there's hardly anybody on that bandwagon. No, because we

(21:06):
didn't know first of all know, but I saw him
play at Duke. Hey, I took the over in Duke
versus Pittsburgh. But you probably didn't even watch the watch.
I watched it very closely, and it was a score fest.
I remember thinking he was fantastic in that game. It
was just it was a It was an offensive shootout,
big man. There was no defense being played. The glorious thing.

(21:29):
If you bet the over, I hope you know the
kid looks like he had. We just didn't get a
chance to see enough of Yeah. Right, I think you
should every preseason game. You should force him to do
two minute right. It's all situational right, shortyard if we're
gonna run, okay, there's four four minute offense, two minute offense,

(21:50):
no huddle offense. You know, all of these situations you
need going against someone other than yourselves, no doubt about it.
There's no doubt about the thing experience. It's weird, though,
it's I can understand if you're not gonna play the
first or second string offensive line. You know, like you

(22:11):
got back up, backup dudes in there, and you don't
want to get your young rook hurt okay, but Arizona's
offensive line was the worst offensive line in the league
last year. All those guys are some of those guys
are most of those guys are new Yeah, well, Kyler Murray,
he's playing against mostly backup Chargers defenders mostly, right, there

(22:32):
was some guys out there, but he got sacked on
that first drive, and both edge rushers just beat the tackles,
just beat them both. By the way, Patrick Mahomes scampering
goes down to the decision right there, Yes, a business decision,
and that lets you know how much further along in

(22:52):
his third year now, uh than a lot of quarterbacks,
because they would have been like goal line, goal line,
I'm gonna get that ball in there. He saw that
linebacker coming. He was like, preseason, I'm good. Season, Ye,
I'm good. He's in regular season. I think he might
do the same thing. Absolutely. I think in regular season
he makes that guy miss and gets an end zone.

(23:13):
Oh yeah, but right now he's like, no, let's just
put it on the runner bed. Let's see what we
got here. Yeah. I just love that Patrick Mahomes played
this whole drive. He had one throw to Travis Kelsey
for beautiful. The game just on the money. That guy
is special. You know someone else who's special, big man.
Wait a minute, who that would be? Steve Elijah the Seger,

(23:34):
same middle name as Cowboys running back Ezekiel, Elijah, Elliott
and Elijah. That's right, very old testament, old testament. We
have two games in progress their exhibitions, but it's NFL.
We'll get to it. It's seven seven Bengals at Chiefs
now Andy Dalton with a fourteen play eighty five yard

(23:56):
scoring drive and the Chiefs have answered to make it
seven seven late in the quarter. Yes, Patrick Mahomes is
playing for casey four or four passing sixty six yards.
At Oakland, the Raiders lead the Rams and Blake Bortles
seven nothing about eight minutes left in the first quarter.
Mike Glennon with a scoring drive three ft three passing
fifty six yards through the air for the Raiders two.

(24:17):
Major League Baseball looks like Houston will have the best
overall record after tonight. The Yankees lost today five four
at Toronto, and at the end of only four innings,
Houston leads nine one at Baltimore. Meanwhile, the worst team
in the Majors, Detroit, is getting shut out at home
by Kansas City five nothing in the bottom of the
eighth Jorge Solaire is thirty third homer for the Royals.

(24:37):
The Braves were up three nothing, a great start for
Mike Siroka seven scoreless innings. He's ten and two this year.
The Braves lead now three to two at Miami with
two outs, two on in the bottom of the eighth inning.
There's a rain delay at the start of the Al
Central showdown between the Indians and the Twins, those who
are tied for first now. The Indians had trailed Minnesota

(24:58):
by eleven and a half games in the standing in
early June. Since then, Cleveland has been on fire, including
these four wins in a row. They are due to
play tonight, but still in a rain delay. Today, the
Angels ended an eight game losing streak, winning twelve four
at Boston. San Francisco beat Philadelphia three one, back to
the show in ten seconds. But first, a word from
Farmers that Farmers Insurance. We know a roof can withstand

(25:18):
a lot, one exception being an airborne car. I've seen it,
covered it. Dr Farmers, we are Farmers underwritten my Farmers
Truck Fire Insurance Exchange. Then affiliates products unavailable in every state.
No one's along back to you. Thank you, Steve to Seger.
We're coming to see you live from the Geico Fox
Sports radio studios. It's easy to say fift center. More

(25:39):
on car insurance with Geico, go to Geico dot com
or call eight hundred nine four seven Auto. The only
hard part figuring out which way is easier. You want
to hear something nauseating from I don't want to make
you ill tonight, but this is it is somewhat funny here. Now,
this is a great story with Damon she He Giuseppe.

(26:01):
This was a guy with blazing speed. He was like
a four three eight forty the great story, and he
was passed over, wasn't invited to the combine. He was
sleeping outside a twenty four hour fitness got to work
out with the Browns, spend his last money to get
on there, and then has blazing speed. It's invited to camp,

(26:24):
has a touchdown on a punt return, and the entire team,
well most of the team joins him in the end
zone celebrating. Just a really really cool story. And it's
not even he wasn't even a football player. He was
a basketball player. He had aspirations and dreams of going
to the NBA and went to junior college, tried out

(26:44):
for the basketball team, didn't make it. Uh, didn't make
the football team at one point, then got invited back
in start returning kicks, then got no offers to go
to any schools. Tried to walk on to the school,
didn't work, and he just said okay, forget school and

(27:06):
tried out for the Arena Football League. Didn't make that.
Driving around the country going to these different tryouts, CFL tryout,
didn't make that. And he was with some guys who
were talking about their friend who had was going to
the Cleveland Browns tryout in Florida, and he begged those

(27:27):
guys to get to get the information and the address.
They gave it to him. He drove down there or
flew down there and researched who was running it, and
when he went to check in, they were like, uh,
your name is not on the list. He was like, oh, uh,
such and such, um, you know you know him? I

(27:48):
always like yeah. He was like yeah, I'm he invited me.
They sent him right in. He seeks out, the guy
talks to him, gets learned that you know, like, hey,
I'm I'm here. He lets him participate. He runs four
three eight returning kicks. I mean, he was a Juico
All American and returning kicks. And so he was carrying

(28:11):
around his tape trying to show people. And after that workout,
he just leave. He don't know what he's gonna do. Now,
in thirty minutes, he gets a call, you get to
come to training camp. That's awesome, and he's made the
most of that. The punt returned for a touchdown against
the Redskins, and it was so cool to see the
team's reaction because they understand the grind, they understand the struggle,

(28:31):
they know what he's been through, and you know what
that's This is a great topic when you talk about perseverance.
I tell young kids all the time right town on
this talent. Once you get to the next level. Everybody
has talent. Now, if you have talent, you don't have drive, motivation,
and you're easily deterred, then you just get to be

(28:53):
like everybody else. Like this kid on hard Knocks Um
from that from Chance from Last Chance. You. Yeah, he's
got an achilles issue going on. He's not even seeing
the trainer and j Gruon's like, get him out of here. Now.
The problem with Ronald Ali as we all saw what
he brought to the table and last chance you when

(29:16):
we were like, damn, this kid doesn't he got all
the talent in the world. He doesn't even care. Late
for this, late for that, and they they babied and
pacified him. So I guess he figured that's what was
gonna happen, and we got to see live on national television.
The NFL coaches don't care nothing about that. I'm talking

(29:36):
about one. He was just cut right, and that's his fault,
the fact that he took himself out of a drill
and then didn't show up the treatment, right, I know it.
And you thought started thinking about some of the better
players in NFL history. Think of a guy like James Harrison.
He was unbelievable for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He got released

(29:58):
left and right at the beginning of his career. He
could have easily said forget this, I'm done with this,
and he ended up being one of the better sack
artists in the history of the game. I've given up
a sack to him. Yeah, you could, well, you could
tell the story like that guy was nasty beast. Do
you wanna talk about low man wins? Right? Leveridge all

(30:22):
day I was like, oh my god, I'm in the
air and he isn't slowing down. I was like, oh,
this isn't what all right? Let me recenter myself here, right,
And I just think that Ronald Holly, you hear that story,
and you're like, this guy is an idiot. This guy

(30:45):
isn't He doesn't get it, and he's probably sitting somewhere
thing and he's gonna get another chance. Guess what, man,
the NFL doesn't need you, Ronald back home washing cars
or something like that. This was your one shot. Yeah right,
It's hard to latch on with another team for the
reasons that got him released, right, that's exactly right. Like

(31:08):
he towards a c l Hey, he got hurt, He
was giving full affortgot hurt, things went south. Another team
says we're gonna give you a shot. It was for
essentially lack of effort, lack of professionalism. It would take
care of his body better if he would have blew
his achilles out totally way better, given it all he had.
It would have been better if he would have ruptured

(31:29):
his Achilles. Then you do what he did. Hey, can
you tell him I can't go? Wait? What? Right? Buckner?
The uh the d line coach, He was talking to
him one on one. He was like, dude, you gotta
see the trainer and get your treatment. Weren't you a treatment? No?

(31:52):
Nobody told me. Okay, guess what this is not? Uh?
Where where's that school? This is not Juco right East
Mississippi or something like that. This is not there. This
is not college. Two is ninety people out here trying

(32:12):
to make a fifty three man roster. They cut him
in one day. Somebody else had his jersey on and
one day, same number and the same number, same locker,
one day. And it was pieced together so well by
hard knocks, because life, that is exactly what it is.

(32:34):
If you're not taking care of your business. They especially
as an undrafted guy, goo ball right, it was just
trying to make a squad and you aren't taking care
of your business. You think they're gonna have patience with you,
They're gonna be like, um, you gotta get out of
here on the first thing, smoking, and we're gonna give
this other dude your number by c don't contact us.

(32:56):
We won't contact you. That's life and love to here
his interpretation of it, well, I don't even get a chance, man,
you know what I mean? Let me. It happens all
the time. Get it all the time. You know it
was tripping man, no brother, no, no, Keelees was acting
up and man, they I just try to get my
my stuff right, man, John Gruden said, it will. I

(33:20):
mean he's been here, he hadn't done anything, and then
he's just that practicing. So we gotta move on. Yeah, yeah,
that's what has to happen, all right. Coming up next
from the Getic studios, we will get you the nauseating audio.
And also I love the comments from a former player.
Something tells me that the big man will not We

(33:42):
will lock horns around the corner. I'm Brian, No, he's
he from Salamis his Fox Sports Radio. I'm Bribaban, No,
he's he from salam Here on Fox Sports Radio. We're
coming here from the Geico studios. All right. So we
talked about the awesome, awesome story of sheh He Giuseppi
with the Cleveland Browns, had a punt return for a touchdown.

(34:03):
Had this long path as an undrafted free agent to
even get a look by an NFL team, and he
made most of it with that touchdown and the team
celebrated in the end zone. This is the only portion
I think he from that is nauseating about this awesome story.
It would be the play by play call from the
Browns radio network. Just listen to this Ted five touchdown.

(34:29):
Dave she he just shipping and the entire props team
brace its down into the end zone. This is how
it will be when we win the NFC seen just
like that. Really, it's a huge leap. Could be just

(34:50):
like when we win the a f C. Huh, how
about that huge leap? Big leap, big leap. I'm telling
you what, man, I'm staying about this sea from Tell
me if you if you sign off on this, if
you coach, sign I think the twenty nineteen Browns are
going to be the teen Steelers. A lot of talent,

(35:11):
high expectations, but due to their own drama, they get
in their own way a lot and they don't have
the success that they could have. You know what, I
don't think no, I don't think so. No. I think
the success that they had last year, right, which was

(35:34):
tremendous given what they come from on a Brown scale. Yeah,
I mean in December we were talking about them in
the playoff hunt. When's the last time that's happened, right,
And that's two years removed from six exactly, So I'm sorry,
one year on year removed. Yet the things that they've
done on both sides of the ball, the belief in

(35:59):
the coaching staff, now, I just think that they're ready
to take the next step. Whether that next step is
winning the division, are making it to the playoffs. We
don't know which one it'll be. Of course, if they
win a division, they take two jump, two giant steps.

(36:19):
But even if they don't win a division and they
make it into the playoffs, I think that's the trajectory
that they're on right now because they got a young
a lot of young, hungry guys. Baker may feel with
all the criticism about him from someone he came in
some guy. He came in and he was stability for

(36:43):
this team, and that's what you want from your quarterback position,
as you want stability, and then you can build around that.
As long as that foundation is solid, you can build
around that. And the problem with the Browns over the
last two and a half decades was that foundation has
never been solid, so anything you've tried to do around it,

(37:06):
it just didn't matter. Yeah. Well, I look at Baker
Mayfield and when you throw the most touchdown passes in
the history of the NFL as a rookie, that means something.
So he definitely has talent, there's no doubt about that.
But I think that Baker Mayfield is in the the
Kyrie Irving mold, so to speak, where Kyrie Irving is

(37:27):
an insane talent, but from a leadership standpoint, he leaves
a lot to be desired. And that's where Baker Mayfield
is right now going into year two. Case in point,
calling out Duke Johnson, who has to be traded because
he was on the trading block, and Baker Mayfields like
the trains moving forward, you're there on it or you're off,

(37:47):
and he's got teammates coming up to him like dude,
what are you doing right now? It's that type of
stuff where he's learning as he goes to be a
better leader. And that's not the guy that decreases drama.
He adds to it. He creates a lot of drama.
You can't have that as a quarterback. And the head coach.
We talk all about this in the off season. We're

(38:09):
just calling out Odell Beckham Jr. Or yelling at him
in practice, and Odell is like, I like that kind
of stuff. It's fine now, but talk to me in
week nine and tell me if you really love that
from Baker Mayfield. That's the sort of stuff I'm talking about.
The leadership standpoint, that's where he needs to grow. Yeah,
and and he and he has time for that. You know,
he's fiery guy. We've seen that. We know his past,

(38:33):
and we know what he brings to the table. It's
all about maturing, growing and you know, putting veteran presences
around him it's going to help that. And a coaching
staff that is willing to check that type of behavior.
That's very important. Yeah, keeping him on the on the

(38:56):
on the straight and narrow. This is a funny part
to Duke Johnson. He got traded to the Texans. That's
a good deal for the Browns. They got a fourth
round pick, might be a third round pick if Duke
Johnson is active for ten games with the Texans. You
tried Duke Johnson for a third rounder, that you take
that as a win. Yeah, you got Nick Chubb, and
you're gonna have Kareem Hunt after the Yate game suspension,

(39:18):
so you deal him for a fourth rounder, could be
a third All day long, this is listen to Baker Mayfield,
listened to the comments he made about Duke Johnson being traded.
That's obviously not my call. You know, we talked about it.
We had one of people that are gonna be there,
and Duke was there. Unfortunately got hurt and then you know,
decision is made to trade him away. But Duke was
obviously a huge part of our office last year. Okay,

(39:40):
so the last part, Duke Johnson is a huge part
of it was a huge part of our offense. That
the guy had eighty seven touches last year. He from
eighty seven touches and so this is like, I'm not
gonna crush Baker. He's trying. He's trying to be positive,
he's trying to be a leader. He just doesn't know
how to do it yet. It's like a huge part

(40:01):
of our offense. Yeah, really, the guy with eighty seven
touchdowns huge part. Huh, he's trying. Give him credit for trying.
He's just not there yet. He's trying to figure it out.
And he's going off the quarterback playbook, right, the media handbook.
That's what you do. You just compliment, compliment, compliment. Yeah,
he's learning all right. Up next from the guy goes

(40:22):
studios from an eye but heads baby, you know, from
Salam there's a It's like it's not even a vending
machine here the studio in Portland. I heart studios. It's
a little mini like you know, you put the quarter in,
you crank it and give you a handful of something.
I don't know what you call those things. It's like

(40:43):
a mini vending machine, you know I'm talking about. They've
got Reese's pieces. Reese's pieces. I try to say it right.
I have a bad habit of saying it wrong. Reese's pieces.
I got a handful earlier, but it's the only quarter
I had, so everybout time I walked by, like man,
I wish I had another quarter in, another handful of
Reese's pieces over here. You know, do you sign off
on Reci's pieces? You fances too huge fan. We're gonna

(41:09):
get to a couple of tweets here. They are typical tweets.
You know, Twitter basically is uh. It stands for negative
always not always, not always, but there's a there's a
healthy portion of negativity on Twitter over here. Well, yeah,

(41:32):
when you give the majority of people a voice, you
realize how many idiots there in the world. That's just
how it goes. Before it was the same amount of idiots.
You just couldn't hear from them. Yeah, well we're gonna
hear from a couple of them in just a few
minutes here. But I want to start with this. So
the Cowboys, they're getting ready to tee it up against

(41:54):
the forty Niners and be live on NFL Network. You
gonna see Dak Prescott start the game for the Cowboys.
And who how about this former NFL quarterback Antonio Crimarti
had a good career as a corner in the NFL,
and he went on FS once Undisputed and had this

(42:15):
to say about Dak Prescott. Check it out. This is
where that Prescott is. That Prescott is in the in
the round of Jason Campbell. He finishes in the top
six team, right Jason Campbell finish around in that area
right now too. Every single year and guess what, he
had a different coordinator every single year. Having the coordinator

(42:35):
as that had, he still finishes around in the area.
This is where we lock horns been. You are much
more complimentary. You're the anti Twitter when it comes to
Dak Prescott. Right, very positive, glass half full. I am
not negative, like complete full blown negativity mode, which is

(42:56):
what you typically get on Twitter. I just see the
whole in his game. I'm not, by any means saying
he's a bad quarterback. I think he's a good quarterback.
But I think that's where the ceiling is. And I'm
reluctant to play to pay elite money to a guy
whose ceiling is good. Well, you don't want to pay
any money to him? Trying to give him seven million
dollars a year or something like that. No, no, no, no, no.

(43:18):
How much are you willing to part with for Dak
Prescott to be the quarterback of your team? In ye? Right,
considering this day in age of what quarterbacks get paid,
you have to do that in this day and age,
I can go to sleep at night and not be
tossing and turning, waking up in cold sweats. If I'm

(43:42):
paying Dak Prescott twenty five million a year, I can
do that. If we're talking thirty thirty two, I'm waking
up in cold sweats, I got leg cramps, I got
Charlie horses, I got everything. Because that is just way
too much much money to pay for a guy who
gives you good production, but from elite. Okay, so you said,
what twenty two a year, I can go to bed

(44:04):
at night and sleep finally a year. I'm okay with that.
I'm okay with that number. Oh we're gonna put this
on the list. No, I'm that that number is a
reasonable number. Right. You were making it seem like, oh,
you can't pay him. I was like from Salona, I
was like, well wait, because at twenty five million, that

(44:29):
puts him in the top five, right, which is fine,
that's what the that's that's pretty much what the market
bears at the position. I can part with twenty five
because that's a less than going rate for quarterbacks these days, right,
I mean, Derek Carr makes five million dollars here, Joe

(44:50):
Flacco makes million dollars a year. Kirk Cousins twenty five
million dollars a year, right, Like, h okay, yeah, you
put him in there, right, because it's just going up
and up and up and up. If you're giving Dak
Prescott on average twenty five million a year. I mean
that's gonna be low very soon, very soon. Yeah, so

(45:13):
I can do that. I'm fine with that. I don't
have an issue with that. That would put him if
you gave if you gave him twenty five million year,
that would put him let's see two four or six eight.
He'd been in the pecking order like Andrew luck Is
the eleventh. He makes twenty four point five per year
on average, exactly right, So you put him there outside

(45:37):
right at top ten months. Given his success and his youth,
that is the perfect slot for him. Totally fine with that,
no issue with it. It's when you start talking thirty
thirty two million. No, too rich from my blood. Okay,
So we're not locking horns at all. This has never

(45:58):
been the issue. The issue. It was always You're like,
I'm not paying him, and I'm like, wait a minute,
how do you not pay the quarterback? I'm not paying him?
But that's what you that's you would just come out
and you know, you'd be like, I'm not paying him,
And I was like, well, Brian, you have to pay
him because you guys don't have a quart. You you

(46:18):
said I would from from big band. I've said I'm
not gonna pay him elite money. Now I throw myself
on the mercy of the court over here. I should
have specified what I deemed elite year. Yeah, I should
have specified. So that's on me. I just smacked my hand,

(46:39):
you know, shame on me. I should have specified elite money.
But I did say elite money. Well, you were like,
our franchise, tag him and get rid of him. I'm like, what, Yeah,
if it's between doc will not budge you give me
thirty mill or we don't have a deal. It's like, okay,
but I guess we don't have a deal. You're gonna
play the if your contract, we might franchise you if

(47:02):
we can't get a rookie in here, and we're just
gonna pass the torch to him. But you know, yeah,
if that's if that's the argument, if that's what the
agents are doing, then they're doing him a disservice. Right,
you get this young man four years, hundred million dollar deal.
You okay, let's make it happen. Let's ride. Let's right, sure,

(47:25):
because I don't put him young enough too. If he progresses,
progresses like I'm sure he thinks he will, and Dallas
Nation wants him to. Then he gets to go for
another fifty a hundred and sixty whatever it will be
at the end of four years or at three years,
because it'll just be it. You know, they're renegotiating the

(47:48):
last year. Yeah, so where we go. You know what,
this is a matter of communication. You know, I should
have given you the herms of what I deemed elete
money because why wouldn't you pay him in the quarter point?
I'm twenty five million year is not elite money the quarterback,

(48:09):
but I'm not. But that's market value though, bad like
bad quarterbacks are getting paid that type of money. And
I'm like, so you wouldn't pay him like any of
these other quarterbacks. They're all making quality money. And you
were just like, no, nope, nope, nope, nope. Getting to it.
I'm like Derek Carr, right, Derek Carr makes twenty five

(48:30):
million year. Guy like Alex Smith twenty three five, Flacco
makes twenty two, Nick Fools makes twenty two, you know,
And I was like, none of I can deal with five.
Pay five. I'm right with that. Marcus Mariota, come on, man,
Oh Mariota is down there he's down nine. Well he's

(48:55):
at the end of his rookie he's at the end
of his rookie deal. Yeah, so he's making it was
James this year, Yeah, James making like six point three.
They're on rookie deals. No, the last year their deal
they get, this number shoots up to like twenty something.
That's why you read they want to renegotiate. So if
they're on the roster, then they get that twenty million
this season. What changes because a guy like Kyler Murray.

(49:18):
Kyler Murray makes more this year than Tom Brady does
on average. He gets that all up front, right, he
gets a bulk of it all up front. Well, his
whole contract is guaranteed. Yeah right, like yeah, like those
guys slotted, Yeah, guaranteed. Those We're coming to you live
from the Getico Fox Sports Radio studios. Fifteen minutes could

guy dot com for a free rate. Quote. I'm Brian, No,
he's he from salam I'll tell you what's cool to
see Jason Witten. Jason Witten back on the football field
for the Dallas Cowboys, and that's a big deal for
Dak Prescott. It's been all about money and what they
should get paid and this and that. But if you

(50:00):
look at Dak Prescott, he's had some good weapons over
the years. When you look at Dez Bryant, who still
put up some decent numbers for a couple of years
when Dak Prescott was the QB, Jason Witten, who of
course was retired last year, called Beasley Ezekiel Elli like
you had a lot to work with in this time
and getting a Marie Cooper last year. He's he's had

(50:20):
more than chump change around him. There's no doubt. Yeah
he has. And you got money on tonight's preseason No, no, no, no,
I just you know, if I see an open receiver,
I'm like, look the other way. Um, well you're gonna
you're gonna get a lot of that with Dak Prescott.
You know, I'm glad that Jason Witten is out of

(50:40):
the booth and back on the field because ouch that Yeah.
But boog a McFarland cheer take advantage of the opportunity.
Man book went from the what do you call it
the motorized cart on the sideline. He's in the booth
and good for him, Man it was great man. He
did a fantastic job. Fantastic job. Now we have seen

(51:04):
tonight how Dak Prescott can get. He can be more
productive this year. He just caught his own pass, you know,
right like completion percentage gonna shoot up if he can
be elusive once he catches the ball, you know, the
receiving yardage. Just go down, go down when you catch
it in that crowd, just go down. Just save yourself. Hey,

(51:28):
great news. There's a quick and easy way you could
save money. Switch the Guy go It only takes fifteen
minutes to see if you could say or more on
your car insurance. Go to Geico dot com and see
how much you could save. All right up next from
the Guy Studios. One instance where I don't care about
the numbers. We'll see what he fram has to say.
I'm Brian, No easy from salam. This is Fox Sports Radio.

(51:53):
Oh easy from Salam Here on Fox Sports Radio. We're
coming to here. From the Guy Goes Studios. Good Paul
by Don Brown, some Danzig, Glenn Danzig and your musical
um I don't know album reminds me of the Doors.
That's a good call by you. Yeah, Little Jim Morrison Morrison,

(52:18):
I have some you didn't know. It's a great you
don't know. I could jump on in there like that,
right hey, man, I love music. Man the Door is
one of my favorite bands of all time. I had
no idea. Did you see the movie's Uncanning Uncanny how

(52:43):
much Val Kilmer looked like Jim Morrison. Man, I was
just like, yo, this is nuts. By the way, for
the people out there who love Glenn Danzig's random YouTube
video from years and years ago, someone impersonating Glenn dan
Zig going to the supermarket buying random items and it's

(53:05):
just right on point. Listen to a couple of these
lead a bottle of mouth that sounds exactly like this
is my favorite one right here, This is a good one.
Here you go, rude a bag off. By the way,
I got a tweet here from Brandon So he tweets

(53:25):
the Big Man he from salam and he says, no doubt,
Brian and Antonio Brown would be perfect boys too self centered,
selfish me first, divas that do what they want whenever
they want. Your thoughts on that, Big Man, I don't know,

(53:50):
because I don't know if I could do a show
with Antonio Brown, I could do a show with you
and we Antonio don't know, we don't see eye on
not only on only just life issues. Uh huh, yeah,
you and I may disagree on sports issues and I

(54:13):
may have to chin check you a little bit. Now
we're now we're getting crazy. We're okay. I take that,
bat At take that, but I just I wouldn't be
able to put up with the the antics and the
immaturity could okay. So for Brandon calling me self centered,
selfish and me first diva, maybe he knows you better

(54:37):
than I do. I don't know. Maybe what the school
with you. I have no idea who this person is.
But based on your interactions with me, would you say
that's on point or a little bit off? A little
bit off? What do you think? It's the timey bit off?
Maybe unbelievable? How about this real fast Brian check sin

(55:00):
and just puts Long John Silver's is complete trash, just
like Chipotle. Now he messed it up. He just put
Long John Silver. Of course, any veteran knows it's Silver's right.
But I digress. He goes with this Top five chain
eating places in order number five, Fat Burger number four
or five Guys Number three water Burger, number two in

(55:22):
and out, number one Chick fil A. You got had
it right with Chick fil A. Definitely had right with
Chick fil A in and out. I was never a
water Burger fan. I wasn't. That was just like huge
in Texas in that area. This is water Burger, water Burger.
And I was like, oh I can, let me try
to check this water Burger. And I was like, have
you guys ever had an in and out Burger? Because
this is not doing that. This water burger is not it.

(55:46):
Five guys is good. It's just so many calories. It's
if you reable amount of calories. Look at the calorie
list at five guys before you go in there. You
won't eat anything. I went to five guys within the
last couple of months and I'm standing there and I'm looking,
just like you said, at the calories and I'm like,

(56:06):
oh my gosh. I'm like, why don't I just get
a b LT love me some BLT s. I got it.
It was smaller than a slider. It was barely bigger
than a silver dollar. And I'm like, this is a
six hundred calories for this? You serious? You get five
guys burger a double burger with cheese and that trough

(56:29):
of fries did they give you? That's five thousand calories, right,
Like if you more than two thousand a milkshake, you're
going to Acoma. That's right. If you get that, you
can't eat for the next three days. That's that's six
d calories and one meal. All right. So I was

(56:52):
mentioned in this. I don't care about the numbers. Now,
this has something directly to do with Dwayne Haskins, Washington
Redskins quarterback. He did not play well against the Cleveland
Browns before we dived head first in this e from
Let's Hear from Dwayne Haskins based on the two interceptions
that he threw against Cleveland over the top of the

(57:13):
back shoulder back throw. Uh second pick, it was all
gos covered three corn mid pointed and did a great
job jam and planning on then on the scene cut
try to anticipate it in there. I wasn't looking for me.
Require made points that pick. Stuff happens. Yeah, not a
great debut. Now, this this first preseason action. So this
isn't like a death sentence in terms of him being

(57:35):
a productive NFL quarterback. It was a bad debut. Here's
my thing. He from Dwayne Haskins. He was talked about
like you could have had Dwayne Haskins. He was so
propped up. He was put on a pedestal, mainly because
Daniel Jones went sixth overall to the giant side of Duke,
and it turned into you could have had Dwayne Haskins.

(57:57):
He had fifty touchdown passes in college. I don't care
how many touchdowns he threw for in college. He had
two wide receivers drafted. Paris Campbell went in the second
round to the Colts. Terry McLaurin went in the third
round to his same team, the Redskins. He had a
second and a third round guy to throw to. You

(58:17):
know who Daniel Jones had that was drafted off his roster, No, buddy,
he was the only guy. So I want those all
that stuff, fifty touchdown passes, You know how many guys.
Tim Tebow was amazing in college. He did nothing in
the NFL. Timmy Chang was amazing in college. He did
nothing in the NFL. Coult McCoy, on and on and on, Like,

(58:39):
spare me these college passing numbers that don't automatically translate
to the NFL. It was just completely overdone with me
and it doesn't um and you and guys figure that out,
and they find that out the hard way. And now
the thing that I want to see from this young
man is next week a type of resilience in presidence

(59:02):
he has coming out. Uh in the next game, he'll
probably play a lot more and it's tape out there,
so they probably put a little bit more of defensive
pressure on him to force him to make another mistake
and see if he if they can get some balls
thrown there where as well, what he has to do
is he has to learn from it and grow. Now

(59:22):
this will be telling because whenever you have success, are
struggles early on at the quarterback position. Everybody wants to
see what's gonna happen next. Remember when Dak Prescott it
was just annihilating preseason and everybody was just like, oh
this preseason, Tony Woman went down and it was all

(59:44):
Dak Prescott and he was just killing And I was like, look,
this kid doesn't know that this preseason. All he knows
is he's preparing in the NFL for the opponent. That's
all he knows. And what happened he rolled right in
him the preseason and right into a phenomenal rookie year,
making very few mistakes. I think he only had two

(01:00:06):
or three picks his rookie year, didn't and didn't throw
a pick till week nine or ten or something like that.
But this is where you get to see the type
of quarterback you can have. That's why I was upset
with the limited amount of time that Kyler Murray had
because I'm like, wait, wait, what, give him some more rests?

(01:00:28):
That is enough. I know that the game has changed
a lot, and especially preseason, how much these these guys
play in the preseason and all of that, But you
go back to Russell Wilson and that wasn't the stone age.
We're talking about the early tens, if you will, right,
and he went in there. You remember this, it was

(01:00:50):
um who was the guy Matt Flynn. They gave Matt Flynn, Yeah,
and they had Russell Wilson. I never forget. He played
against the Chiefs and he looked smooth. He looked poised, accurate, decisive,
And I'm like, man, this kid, he looks like he's
got something over here. And that's the thing, man, is
I understand these quarterbacks they're gonna take their lumps, but

(01:01:12):
you'd much rather that Dwayne Haskins takes these lumps in
the preseason, that not giving him those opportunities to get
out there and learn by making mistakes. Yeah, he needs
to make all the mistakes now, right. That's why for
him this is gonna be more valuable than if you
would have came out and was on fire, because now
he really gets to look at it. They can break

(01:01:34):
it down, he can study it, and he can learn
from his mistakes. Right. He can sit in the room
with the coach and the receiver and the offensive coordinator
and they can be like, Okay, look, we have to
be on the same page. He's expecting you to do this.
You did that. Look at the coverage over the top.
Can't be fooled by the safety He's sitting there, He's
reading your eyes all of those things. Right, So now

(01:01:54):
he actually has valuable film to correct his mistakes. That's
why this next game is gonna be so important for
him because if he can correct his mistakes, that bowls
well for him and the Washington Redskins. If he can't,
then you know, maybe this isn't for you. Yeah, but

(01:02:17):
he's through fifty touchdown passes in college and those days
that those days stop that. I mean, that's that's nothing.
It doesn't mean all that college superstardom stuff. I've I
was in the league long enough to see those guys
come in and oh my god, this guy is this
and that, and I'm like, yo, this is he's not
gonna make it right. Yeah, some of that stuff just

(01:02:39):
doesn't translate. Look at some of the teams that they
beat up on in the Big Ten. Not everybody is
a great team. It's not exactly a gauntlet weekend and
week out. And even a team that's supposed to be
one of the better teams in that league, Michigan, remember
that game was nine whatever it turned out to be.
He's throwing crossing patterns in Michigan. It's like, this is radicle,

(01:03:00):
What is this crossing patterns over here? This is not
gonna work in the NFL. Man. That's the same degree ridiculous, unbelievable.
All right, um, before we throw it to uh you

who I was alluding to. That is one Steve Wayne Disagre,
same middle name as Cowboys team owner Jerry Wayne Jones Wayne. Okay, yeah,

(01:03:43):
we will get to them. Cowboys and three exhibitions going
on right now. But the Atlanta Braves closer situation is
astoundingly bad. They have just given up four runs in
the bottom of the ninth at Miami. It's six six
going to the tent. The game would be over, but
the Braves through outer runner at the plate barely. The
Atlanta Braves are first place team. They were in the

(01:04:04):
playoffs last year. They're sixty nine and forty nine this season.
They got a great start from Mike Saraka seven scoreless tonight,
sirocas ten and two. This year. They named a new
closer today, Mark Mulansony allowed four straight singles in the ninth.
He was taking over from the Tigers all star closer.
Atlanta recently got in trade Shane Green. He came in
and didn't do much better game going to the tenth,

(01:04:26):
tied six all at the Marlins. Meanwhile, the Yankees lost
today five for at Toronto. Houston's up twenty one at
Baltimore in the top of the seventh inning, So Houston's
gonna have the best record in the Majors at seventy
seven and forty and they're finally underway with the a
L Central lead on the line. The two teams tied
for first in the division. It's Indians at twins, scoreless

(01:04:48):
in the top of the second after about a two
hour raindelay at the start. The Mets have tied it
up against the Nationals three three, bottom of the eighth.
The Mets have won fourteen of the last fifteen games.
Now to the games in progress, it's the Cowboys three
nothing leaders at San Francisco, about four minutes to go
in the first quarter. Deck Prescott already out after he

(01:05:09):
went four for four twenty three yards passing, and they
settled for a field goal final seconds of the second quarter.
At Oakland, Raiders have a seven three lead over the Rams.
It's Mike Glennon at quarterback. In the first half for Oakland.
He's thrown two interceptions, including one near the goal line
and final seconds before halftime. At Kansas City Chiefs fourteen
seven Leaders against Cincinnati Patrick Mahomes on his one drive

(01:05:32):
four for four sixty six yards. The guys are back
in ten seconds. But first a word from Farmers at
Farmers Insurance. We know a roof can withstand a lot.
One exception being an airborne car. I've seen it, covered it.
Dr Farmers, we are Farmers underwritten my Farmers Truck Fire
Insurance exchange that affiliates products unavailable in every state. Arizona

(01:05:52):
Cardinals defensive end Darius final On, the former charger, was
arrested yesterday. Back to No and Salon. Thank you, Steve
Wayne to Seger. Appreciate that we're coming to you alive
from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios. It's easy to
say fIF or more on cur insurance with the Geico
go to Geico dot com or call eight hundred nine
seven Auto. The only hard part figuring out which way
is easier. I was trying to think he from If

(01:06:16):
you look at Daniel Jones, right quarterback of the Giants,
a good debut, nice drive led to a touchdown. And
we said this earlier in the program. If he turns
out to be a good quarterback, there's a lot of
people are gonna be wrong a lot of people, And
so I started thinking about the bigger mainstream swings and

(01:06:37):
misses by the media and by fans, you know what
I mean, where either we were essentially on the same
way of thinking, where it was either a player, Oh,
this guy is gonna be legit and he turned out
to not be anything even close to that, or we're like,
this guy stinks like Daniel Jones, Right, that was the

(01:06:57):
popular way of thinking, and he turns out to how
of massive success. And I couldn't come up with too
many examples of it. I know there are more then
I've been able to think of. Like in another sport, basketball,
think about port zingis that's a great example, the one
that propped right into my mind. Oh gosh, everybody was

(01:07:19):
like port zingis Latvia, what are they doing fourth overall?
And he turned out to be a really, really good
player for the Knicks. So I don't know. It's were
we virtually on the same page about r G three
in his rookie season, that he was gonna have a
phenomenal career. You think that's one, right, I think a
lot of people are on board with that. He was

(01:07:40):
electric his rookie and I just you want to talk
about you turn man. Yeah, it just it really can
get too big sometimes, and just because you have the

(01:08:03):
talent and the hype doesn't always pay dividends for you
in your career. Sure, that's one of the things that
I think people really take for granted. And I've all
I've often said this that one of the toughest things

(01:08:26):
for young talented players is early success because it shifts
the narrative of how much you should work, because you
get us a false sense I I've arrived. It's it's
difficult across any professional sport. Yeah, you get this thought

(01:08:48):
of well I belong here, I'm the man. It happened
to me. I'm speaking from experience. I'll be the first
to tell you my second year wasn't even close to
being as great as my my rookie year because I
felt vindicated being a seventh round draft pick and making

(01:09:09):
the All Rookie team and being one of the top
offensive linemen in league and going to the Super Bowl,
and so I was just like, yeah, look at me. Yeah,
it messes with a lot of young players. And also
the competition is so good where if you have a
short sample size, take a guy like r G. Three.

(01:09:32):
If you would have told me, based on what we
saw from him as a rookie, and even knowing he
tore his a c L and you said to me,
all right, project the rest of his career, There's no
way I would have projected what has turned out to be.
And that isn't just r G three thinking I belong here,
I'm the man. You know, I don't need to work hard.

(01:09:53):
It's just really really hard to excel in the NFL.
And although he was electric his rookie year, that didn't
mean that was gonna be the bulk of his career
going forward. You know, now the NFL is is is
a tough league. It's not only extremely difficult to stick

(01:10:14):
and stay and be productive every year, you gotta get
better and there's always somebody coming in to take your
position every year. Yeah, it's rough. Another one of the
bigger swings and misses that most of the media and
fans were on board with. How about the Texans not

(01:10:37):
taking Reggie Bush, That was just you don't pass on Superman?
What are you thinking? This was the dumbest move ever.
It turned out to be a good draft pick. With
Mary O Williams over there, it was decision that Charlie
Castandly made that decision before he you know, was relieved
of his duties and not taking Reggie Bush our Vince Young.

(01:11:02):
Remember the top three picks and Vince went three. Yeah,
that was the best thing that they could have done
because number one, Reggie Bush wasn't the every down back
that people thought he was gonna be. And Reggie Bush
was good and I'm not taking anything away from his
talents and his ability, and going to the Saints was

(01:11:23):
perfect for him because he got to be you utilized
in a lot of different ways. But you in that
offense that we had, we were I mean, that was
a zone running down and he probably would have been
pretty good in that type of offense, but he couldn't
take that pounding like that. We were gonna handle the
ball thirty times a game. Crazy was the noise at

(01:11:47):
that time when they passed on Reggie. Everybody thought was
there were crazy? Right. Mario Williams went on to go
to four Pro Bowls in his five years, had a
really good career, had a really good career. It was
an all time sack leader in the Texas history. Once
had red eyes, right, Remember those weird, weird contacts, you know,

(01:12:10):
Mario Williams, and he could have been better. Mario could
have been better. I remember that rookie year. Gary Kubia
came to me and say, hey, look from you gotta.
I know you're on one of days because at that
point in my career I wasn't practicing twice a day
and training camp. I'm not doing that, he said, but
I need you in the morning, and I need you

(01:12:31):
to give this kid everything you got. We need him
ready for the season, So give it all to him.
And I did. Every day. Mario and me, one on
one we went at it and I had him confused,
I had him frustrated. I had the coaches cussing at him.

(01:12:52):
Were you trash talker? No, no, no, not even trash talking.
Talked trash, but didn't us not. I didn't have the
trash talk the whole. The biggest thing with with young
players is knowledge of the game. I can line up
and make him think run when it's passed, and vice versa. Right,

(01:13:13):
so if I can dictate what he's going to do,
he can never beat me. And I gave him every
look he was ever gonna get from an offensive lineman,
every look upstands, downstands, heavy hands, light, feel like all
of it. And he just couldn't figure it out because
he didn't know. But what I did was I got

(01:13:35):
him ready for the things that he was gonna see
throughout the season, so he could start noticing and recognizing things.
Work with him after practice all of this stuff. He's
number one picking the draft. It was me and him
when he got mad, though. I remember he picked me

(01:13:56):
up off my feet one time. I said, good, look,
do that. Do that every time. But the thing was,
Mario was a nice guy. He was a kid. He
was goofy, and he didn't just have that type of
mean streak where every down he was gonna try to
push your chin through the back of your head, right,

(01:14:18):
he had the ability to do that. Once he got mad,
it's you couldn't stop him. You couldn't. You couldn't stop me.
I mean, he would just run you over. He was
so big and so strong. You know. He had a
phenomenal career, made a bunch of money, you know, but
he could have been so much more. Yeah, in my opinion,

(01:14:40):
right now, you make a lot of sense with that,
you know what building off that coming up next from
the guy goes to the EOS. I from talking about
crazy training camp stories. This one is gonna be tough
to top. That's on the other side. I'm Brian No
He's he from salamis his Fox Sports Radio. I'm Bribably
no oh easy from salam here on Fox Sports Radio.

(01:15:03):
We're coming see here from the Geico studios. He from
you were talking about training camp stories and I read
something today about Jaguars training camp back in This is
what Tom Coughlin expansion franchise, and Tom Coughlin is all
about establishing toughness. And so they were trying to get

(01:15:26):
everything worked out with their practice facility in Florida, but
it wasn't quite ready, so they headed to Wisconsin. They
went to Stephen's Point, Wisconsin, and it was just ungodly
hot and some of the numbers, here's some of the figures.
It's insane. What was happening. They said that the Chicago

(01:15:47):
Tribune they estimated that the heat killed seven hundred and
eighteen people in ten states, including eighty five in Wisconsin,
just the heat alone. And they said on July four,
eight hundred and fifty cows in Wisconsin dairy herds died
like that's how crazy hot it was. And these guys

(01:16:08):
are out there for five hours a day with two
days full gear, just beating the holy quote unquote crap
out of each other. That's what all the fame tackle
Tony Boselli was saying about training camp. It is night
and day now compared to them. Not even that was
the That's what people thought the recipe was to being

(01:16:30):
successful in football was right. We're gonna put you in
the worst situations physically and get you mentally physically exhausted,
and see how you perform very few water breaks, all
of those things things that we now know are detriment
to your ability to not your cognitive ability, your your

(01:16:53):
ability to recover. Think about that, Think about the advantage
we've made in medical science now about the body and
recover ability and things of that nature. And it was
completely opposite back then. And you know, it started to
change when Corey Stringer died got rest his soul from

(01:17:14):
the Minnesota Vikings offensive lineman and he passed away from
heat exhaustion. Then people started to be like, oh, wait,
wait a minute, what, Oh wait, wait a second. And
I remember that because we were in training camp and
we used to have our training camp and firm in
South Carolina, and it was awful up there. It was.

(01:17:38):
It was, it was, it was terrible. It would wait
wait what it was we used to It was just
it was awful, okay. And it was two days, full pads,
every day, hit hit, hit it very few breaks. When

(01:18:02):
that happened. When Corey passed away, then we started, oh,
you guys get more. Now, you guys hydrate, make sure
you hydrate. And then later on in my career, we
you know, nutritionists came in. It was checking people's uh
you know, heat and index there, their weight before and
after practice. They started really looking at things, uh, to determine,

(01:18:27):
you know, how much weight does a guy losing the practice,
What does he need to do? What type of food
to need? All of that came later, but beforehand, it
was just like lineup, go out there, bang heads, and
you know, come in, get something to eat, and let's
go out and do it again. I know. That's the
way it was. And the conditions it wasn't just the hit.
It's the conditions. Whenever you go ahead, go ahead, all right, um.

(01:18:52):
The National Weather Service this was a three day stretch
in Iowa, right, So we were talking Midwest here the
jaguars were in Wisconsin, but in Iowa. Listen to all
the live scott livestock that was dying due to the heat. Iowa.
It was approaching six million dollars and what they lost
It included four thousand head of cattle, three and seventy hogs,

(01:19:15):
one point to five million chickens, and a quarter of
a million turkeys. They're just dropping dead due to the heat.
And you got guys in full gear banging heads for
five hours. It's insane what it used to be. Whenever
you we get out, get up, and then then the
news will be on. It be like I got a
heat in decks warning out there. If you got any
pets out there, let's let's get them inside. This is uh.

(01:19:38):
You don't want to have your pets outside for an
extended a matter of fact, if you know, don't take
them for a walk, if you let wait till the evening.
And it was just all of this stuff they did,
Please be careful of the animals, And I was just thinking, man,
they don't give a damn about us. Dan. I hope
the poodle, hope the poodle was saved. But you want
to put fifteen pounds of pads and add another twenty

(01:20:00):
five degrees of heat on my body and then had
me do gassers and sprints. Man, Yeah, it was crazy.
People asked me, do you got you miss it? No,
I don't because I had training camp in Atlanta, basically
South Carolina, had training camp in Houston, had training camp

(01:20:23):
in Florida in the middle of the summer. No, I
don't miss it. No I I don't blame you, not
as far as that goes. Coming up next to the
Geico Studios leadership is far more than just production. I'm Brian. No,
he's from Salim. Keep it locked. Yes, welcome in Hope.
You're having a fantastic Saturday. I'll tell you what are

(01:20:45):
you from? You know me? I cannot wait for regular
season ball to get here. We just have two more
weeks and we're gonna see Miami taken on Florida. We'll
have an actual real college football game in two weeks,
and uh, the NFL season is not too far from us.
I'll tell you this though. Man. In the meantime, he
had some really good MLB storylines right now. The Mets

(01:21:09):
going crazy winning games left and right, the wild card chases,
it's interesting if you're not watching games, you know, daily
and things like that, but just catching up on it
the highlight shows and seeing who's doing what, trying to
make the postseason. We got some fun stuff going on
right now in MLB. We're gonna start. Let's start to hour,

(01:21:30):
I'll talk about Major League Baseball. I thought I'm not
getting into like the Mets rotation, and then it sounds
like you want to jump on into it if you
if you want to jump on into the MLB, when
we can jump into the MLB. I'm just saying, my cards,
they took the lead in the NL Central and then
they're like, yeah, you know what, screw it, let's lose

(01:21:51):
to some good teams. Let's give it back. Yeah, and
now they're trying to get into the postseason wild card
or winning the division. But I'm just saying there's some
good storylines going on. If it's not your cup of tea,
I get it just in general, not necessarily you personally,
from just people listening. It might not be your cup
of tea, but there are some really interesting races heating up.
There's no doubt it is, and most people really start

(01:22:15):
tuning in in October you know, when uh, the game's
actually really count because playing a hundred and sixty games,
it's hard to really be invested that long. For long haul.
It's definitely a long haul Wednesday one tip off. It's

(01:22:38):
kind of I mean, it's it's it's really hard to
capture the essence of that when you're coming back from
lunch at work. Yeah, well that's true when you have
your all Star weekend on the weekdays. I saw this.

(01:22:58):
I should get to this a little bit later in
the hour, but I thought of Steve de Seger because
Steve Disager is a big baseball fan, which is great,
you know. And I was reading this about the Atlantic
League and they're using the Atlantic League for MLB rules experiments,
and so they're just trying these things out and some

(01:23:20):
of them are random where like the size of the bases.
I thought this was interesting. Right now, they're fifteen inches
square and they're thinking about making them eighteen inches square
because it's a safety thing. You think there's a bang
bang play at first base, the base is bigger, you know,
run the risk of stepping on the first baseman's foot
or there being a collision or things like that. And

(01:23:42):
also it's an offensive thing where you can steal you
you know, have a better chance to reach second base
and so forth and so on. That was one of
the more interesting ones right there. And I guess you
can steal first in the Atlantic League if there's any
pitch that's a past ball, regardless of the count, you
can race the base. Even if you make a move
toward first. Um, they could throw you out there, but

(01:24:04):
you can actually steal first base in the Atlantic League.
Crazy stuff going on that, Yeah, if you had that
in the MLB. Yeah, right, Like, let's say it's a
one one count and there's a past ball and you
have a decision to make. Do you break for first
or are you sitting there saying, you know what, it's
a two one count. I'm gonna stay here, try to

(01:24:26):
get on base or hit a home run. Go for
more than just being on first pitch, even even off
the pitch, you can go. Or does it have to
be a wild pitch or something like that? Off the
pitch you can just steal first. No, it has to
be and I'm glad you asked this. It has to
be any ball that isn't caught okay by the catcher.

(01:24:47):
Are anybody just by catch by the catcher, right, okay, yeah,
got you? Yeah it pitch pretty much basically, batters may
steal first base on any pitch not caught in eight.
The batter can be thrown out if he attempts to run.
I liked that he starts to break towards first base.

(01:25:07):
He's like, oh, shoot, I don't think I'm gonna make it,
and it's like, well, too late, too late, you already
broke the way you explained at the first it was
just like the pictures winding up the throw and you
just take off run you're running the first base, but
just you have you just take off. You can throw
that in marriage? Would exciting? Would that be? Though? You

(01:25:29):
might implement that. Oh that's funny stuff. All right, We
are coming to you Alive from the Getico Fox Sports
Radio Studios. Fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or
more on car insurance. Visit Geico dot com for a
free rate quote. I'm Brian, No, he's he from salam
We started off the show talking about Antonio Brown and
this dude what he's pulling right now. He deserves to

(01:25:51):
be talked about again in the same show. This guy
he is not participating in training camp, partially because he's
believed to have frost bitten feet. There's a cryotherapy session.
He didn't wear the proper footwear, got frost bitten feet.
His feet just looked straight up nasty. He's missing sections

(01:26:12):
of those feet over there. That's not it. Reportedly, he's
staying away because he can't wear his preferred helmet. It
doesn't meet safety specifications. It's essentially out with the old,
in with the new helmets. You gotta wear this new,
upgraded helmet. Antonio Brown says, now hurts my vision. I

(01:26:33):
might just retire. I might not play football ever again.
And for the people that are counting on this guy,
Eve from you go down the list of obviously it's
the whole teams, the whole organization, it's one of the
better players in the entire NFL. But you start going
down with the individuals. Derek Carr, if he doesn't have
a good season, he could be out of a gig

(01:26:53):
with the Oakland Raiders. You think he's feeling a certain
way about Antonio Brown not being a training camp and
on top of that, not even being reachable. They're reaching
out to this guy, calling him, not even picking up
look at Jon Gruden, all the scrutiny, all the pressure
that he's facing. Mike Mayock's his first year as the
GM is a major move. Getting Antonio Brown. You just

(01:27:16):
go down the list, and all these dudes are all
feeling a certain way about Antonio Brown, what he's pulling
right now. Yeah, they're not. They're not feeling it, right,
They're not feeling they know his talent and all of that,
but they're not feeling the fact that it doesn't seem
important to him. And that's one thing the players can't
deal with, right, Like, you can't be that much of

(01:27:39):
a disruptive force. And when you're in training camp and
you're going through what these guys are going through now,
young and old, that's a bond. It creates a brotherhood,
a sense of unity because you all are tied unity.
You guys all are tired, your sore, your head hurts,

(01:28:03):
your hands hurt, you're exhausted, right, You're tired of meetings,
you're going through the grind of it. You're hot, and
you're sleepy, you all of this stuff, right, So when
the season starts, you guys are battle tested. You guys
are worn down together and you guys have risen and
come together to do something great. Right beginning of the season.
Everybody starts zero and zero. Everybody has a chance to

(01:28:26):
go to the super Bowl. If you take a piece
out of that and then try to jam it back
in a new piece, right, this is a new team
for him, new environment, knew everything. This piece has never
been in this puzzle. Yeah. Right, And so if you
if you try to jam that in after you've built

(01:28:47):
this beautiful mosaic in this puzzle and it doesn't quite
fit with some of the antics are the lack of responsibility,
then that's that's gonna that's gonna tear up the whole puzzle. Yeah.
And you know what's funny is it just hit me
we were given a b a lot of credit when

(01:29:11):
remember we were doing a comparison. Odell Beckham Jr. Wasn't
there at O. T A. S. And we were like, dude,
what are you doing? This is a brand new team.
Why wouldn't you be there. You're supposed to be a leader.
You're supposed to lead by example instead of training and
being off doing your own thing. And we both said,
look at Antonio Brown. Antonio Brown is there with the Raiders,

(01:29:33):
highly accomplished, one of the better receivers in the history
of the game. And he's busting his butt out there
running routes galore. We're giving him praise, and he's all
taken that and done a one eight. He's undone all
of the good he initially did by pulling this stuff
with the helmet and the frost bitten feet. And I

(01:29:56):
understand stuff happens, but you've gotta be accountable. You gotta
be there at the team's headquarters. You at least have
to be reachable. You gotta be a professional. It's not
just game day. That's what Antonio Brown thinks. He thinks
I'm a beast in this league because of what I
do on game day. It's not just about production. Leadership
is far more than just what you do on Sundays. Yeah,

(01:30:19):
you get when you play team sports and and a
and a sport like football, you gotta really really honed in.
You gotta focus in, and you gotta be there right
That connection between receiver and quarterback is like nothing else

(01:30:41):
on that football field, nothing else. The slightest step or misstep,
slowness out of a route, it's all anticipation. If you
don't know the guy you're throwing too. Don't matter how
good he is or how it you are, then it's

(01:31:03):
not going to work like you wanted to. This thing
that Antonio Brown, what happened with him with his feet,
It's his fault. It is this whole silliness about the helmet.
It's his fault, and he's making it worse. He's making
it so not being able to be contacted and reached

(01:31:24):
by the team during all of this. It's his fault.
It is right. So when as a player looking at
something like that, I'm like, yo, man, he does don't care. Yeah,
you lose respect for dudes like that. I don't care
what anybody says. You can't look at that and be like, oh,

(01:31:45):
it's all good. I completely respect that guy. But the
funny thing is the craziest thing about especially support is
he comes out and he gets better, and he's there
opening day and he leaves the league and receiving it,
it all goes away. Other thing about this is if
Antonio Brown practices or plays in the helmet he prefers

(01:32:07):
that's outdated, can't use it. He loses that week's game
check and it is eight hundred and sixty thousand dollars.
That's what really stands out to me is it's funny
because he's guaranteed thirty million. I hear figures like that
all the time as you do to e from and
I'm like, thirty million, all right. It's kind of like
in one ear out the other. But when you break

(01:32:29):
it down weekly, he faces losing eight hundred and sixty
thousand dollars if he's like, no, don't want to embrace
the new helmet. I'm just gonna wear my old helmet. Right. Wow,
you talk about a chunk of change right there, and listen,
don't take this the wrong way. He's earned it. If

(01:32:50):
you can use like Antonio Brown, he's got unbelievable talent,
great work, ethic, and he produces Like if you can
do the same thing, that's going right, that's what you're
gonna So I'm not looking at it like that, like
this is way too much money for him to to
get paid. No, he deserves it. It's like you're gonna
leave that on the table. This is an unnecessary distraction.

(01:33:11):
It's a bunch of hot air. There's no way he's
walking away from thirty million dollars because of his outdated helmet.
It's just an extra layer of drama that doesn't need
to take place. It doesn't need to be happening. And
that's the part. All of these things that don't need
to be happening, it's him creating them. Yeah, that's the

(01:33:33):
just a crazy part about it. We have at what
point do we grow up? I know? Man, It's like
that's the thing. And people can relate to this if
you've had drama in your life, at work, in a relationship, whatever,
it's just drama. It is draining, it's exhausting. We're talking
about training camp here. It's exhausting itself. Like, you don't

(01:33:58):
need extra layers of rama just dragging you down. And
that's what Antonio Brown does. Man, he's a great talent,
but he is a drama creator. He's a distraction. There's
no other way to put it. Hey, we're brought to

season wind totals for NFL teams. I'm gonna see if
he from and I disagree, If I can sucker him
into having to eat a meal at Long John Silver's,

(01:34:41):
We'll see if we can make this happen. I'm Brian No,
he'sy from Salam. This is Fox Sports Radio. I'm Brian No,
He's he from Salam. Here on Fox Sports Radio. We're
coming to here from the Geico studios before we get
to the season win totals for a couple of NFL
teams over here, big Man, I saw this story about

(01:35:03):
Andrew Luck. He says he's quote not comfortable with the
pain in his calf, so he hasn't been practicing. He's
expected to misspractice the next three days. And so this
has been a common trend here in the offseason. Andrew
Luck hasn't been there. And and to me, I look
at Andrew Luck and he's got this calf injury, and

(01:35:25):
he says that he's not gonna be he's gonna be
hurting the team, he's not gonna be himself, he's not
gonna be fully productive in all of those things. But
I think that he's trying to find the middle ground
between Hey, am I pushing it to a fault? Or
should I be pushing it? Because he's had some serious
injuries and he's missed some significant time. So I think

(01:35:46):
he's he's worried about going right back to being injured
and being on the sideline for extensive time. That's gotta
be a weird feeling for the guy. Yeah, it is.
And he's really putting himself in the agory of injury.
Bro Oh yeah, I mean we we can't keep waiting
and holding on and waiting for him to feel comfortable. Sure, absolutely,

(01:36:10):
Like that's the thing, Like one. I mean, they have
to because they've invested him. He's their guy. They've invested
the franchise in him. But at some point you're like, Okay,
whoa mm hmm. We don't ever get to have you. Yeah,
practice camp O t a s we we don't. We

(01:36:33):
don't get Andrew Luck. We may get him for sixteen games,
we may not. I know it. It's so valuable when
you see some of those quarterbacks. Philip Rivers, he started
two hundred and eight straight games. You just look at
Philip Rivers year by year games started, sixteen, sixteen, sixteen, sixteen,
sixt right that's how it is. But there are guys

(01:36:56):
like Andrew Luck, as talented as he is, as productive
as he's been, especially considering before Chris Ballard bulked up
the roster with talent, they had some lean, lean rosters,
especially offensive line. You look at Andrew Luck and it's
start off grade sixteen, sixteen sixteen followed by seven fifteen sixteen.

(01:37:17):
You know, missing an entire season in twenty seventeen, so
there's been a lot a lot of games missed he missed.
If you do the math, let's see nine ten. He
missed twenty six games in a three year period because
he missed the entire seventeen season, that's a ton of

(01:37:38):
games of games. Man, that's a lot of games. Yeah,
when he's on and he's good and he's healthy, he's great.
But when do we get to have that I know,
And even if he plays all of the games, or
at least the bulk of the games this year, he's
still missing a lot of time in camp. And when

(01:37:59):
you've got young receivers Paris Campbell is a rookie, you
gotta have that connection. Man. Yeah, you just got uh
some other talent on the team. Right when you start
looking around and and you see these new faces over
there with the the wide receiver from Carolina, Devin Funchius
who comes over. You know, like it's not just you

(01:38:21):
and t Y Hilton. They've been together for a number
of years. But you've got new faces on the squad.
You've got to develop a connection. And it's tough because
and I'll tell you this training camp for quarterbacks is
not taxing. It's not it's not physical at all. It's

(01:38:47):
just about Yeah, it's a it's mental more than anything.
Mental in getting your rhythm, rhythmic, rhythmic mental time. Mean yeah, right,
not a lot of physicality to it. Right, they're not banging,

(01:39:11):
you know what I mean, Like you can't touch them. Ever,
you hit a quarterback, you get fired. They fire you.
That's what happens. So not having a guy available when
there's no contact or know, that's gotta drive a coach crazy.

(01:39:36):
Like all we want you to do is drive back,
go through your progressions, hit the target. If you you
can't do it, I know it. And you mentioned the
key phrase right there, injury prone, and this before we
get to the season. Win totals will do that in
a minute. There was something that John Lynch said the
GM with forty forty Niners playing the Cowboys right now

(01:39:58):
on NFL Network. But John Lynch was a guest on
k n b R and he was talking about the
number two overall pick. There's the defensive end, Nick Bosa,
and Nick Bosa is out for the entire preseason because
of the treaded high ankle sprain. And so this is
what John Lynch said to k n b R. We
don't feel he is injury prone. I mean, he had

(01:40:19):
a core core muscle deal in his last year at college,
and he took that that year and decided to get healthy.
You know, yesterday he had a big human being fall
on his leg while he was engaged with someone else.
So some of those things you just can't that's football.
But we're thrilled with with what we have in Nick Bosa.
We're gonna get him right and he'll be a great
player for a long time in this league. Okay, he

(01:40:41):
tried to say, oh no, no no, he's not injury prone.
I think a lot of people they think of the
word injury prone meaning weak, you know, like those guys weak.
He said it right there, is Well, he had a
big individual fall in his leg. What's the guy gonna do? Like,
there are a lot of things with Andrew Luck. Andrew
Luck had a bad offensive line. He's getting beaten up
over there. Doesn't mean he's weak, just meany prone means

(01:41:04):
he's injury prone. He suffers a lot of injury. Right,
another guy could have someone fall on there and it
won't bother, It won't happen, It won't hurt them as
much as it's hurt hurting, you know, Bosa, Like, that's
what that all means. Right, Some guys can spray the

(01:41:25):
mc L and continue to go. Some guys cannot. Right,
that's just it. If you're always, if it's something always, Yeah.
The funny thing is he took off the whole college
year and then gets hurt like it's just that's just

(01:41:48):
you know, man, it's this game, and that has a
lot to do with people's longevity in this league. Can
you stay healthy? There's an old saying that they say
every year in in in training camp. You cannot make
the club in the tub. That's right. Can't help him either,
you know you got that can't make the club in

(01:42:09):
the tub. That's it. That's the bottom line. The Colts
are one of the teams that we gotta look at
season win total, because that's a tough one. What do
you say right now with Andrew luck in the calfe
injury and how many games are you gonna play? A
lot of uncertainty. So that's one of the teams we're
gonna look at. Here were brought to you by Discover.

we throw it to the Great Steve Levon the Seger,
same middle name as Chiefs quarterback Patrick Lavon Mahomes. Well

(01:42:50):
kept Toll Mahomes in a moment, by the way, a
GM John Lynch did on the forty Niners telecast tonight
say his wide receiver Trent Taylor had foot surgery and
it's out indefinitely. The Niners right now, with about a
minute to go till halftime, lead seven six over Dallas,
which kicked two field goals. Started Dak Prescott four or
four passing just twenty three yards. Tonight, the game of
Kansas City's late third quarter lead for the Chiefs over Cincinnati.

(01:43:14):
Patrick Mahomes on his one drive four for four sixty
six yards and they're starting the fourth quarter in Oakland.
Raiders fourteen three leaders against the Rams, who started Blake Bortles. Tonight,
the Raiders started Mike Glennon. He threw for two hundred
yards but two interceptions as well. The battle for the
lead in the a L Central is underway. Twins and
Indians are tied for first. There was about a two

(01:43:35):
hour rain delay at the start. They're going to the
fifth Twins up to nothing. Houston won it's eighth straight
game twenty three to two at Baltimore Tonight. Houston hit
six home runs, three by your Don Alvarez. He had
seven rb i s. He's batting over three fifty. The
Cubs have lost again at Cincinnati ten one reads the
final first thus first place Cubs in the NL Central

(01:43:59):
just a game and a f up on Milwaukee, which
won it's fifth straight three two over Texas, just two
games over St. Louis, which be Pittsburgh again three to one.
Adam Wainwright got the win six innings, eight strikeouts, three
one over the Pirates, who have lost seven straight and
the Mets. Mets won their eighth straight game. They've won
fifteen of sixteen. The final against Washington Noah synder Guards

(01:44:23):
seven innings and no decision. The loss to the Nationals
Fernando rodney O n five. Mets got two in the
bottom of the eighth to take it. And not only
eight straight wins for the Mets, eight straight wins for Houston.
The Angels had lost eighth straight, but they wanted Boston
today twelve to four. Houston, by the way, with the
best overall record now because they won and the Yankees
lost today five four at Toronto. Wins for Kansas City,

(01:44:45):
San Francisco and Miami won in ten innings, quite a
comeback over Atlanta seven six. The Miami Marlins had four
runs in the bottom of the ninth to tie that game.
There's baseball on FS one right now. The Rockies Nolan
Eronado hit a long home run to field his twenty six.
But in San Diego, the Padres do lead five three
over the Rockies. In the bottom of the six. White

(01:45:06):
Sox have just edged the A's three to the late
game underway raise at Mariners scoreless in the second and
the Dodgers lead to nothing against the d Backs bottom
of the fourth. Max Monse his homer guys are back
in ten seconds. But first a word from Farmers Farmers Insurance.
We know a roof can withstand a lot, one exception
being an airborne car. I've seen it, covered it. Dr Farmers,

(01:45:28):
we are Farmers underwritten my Farmers Truck Fire Insurance Exchange
and affiliates products unavailable in every state. No one's along
back to you. Great stuff, Steve. We're coming to you
live from the Geico Fox Sports radio studios. It's easy
to say, fift center. More on car insurance with Geico,
go to Geico dot com or call eight hundred nine
seven Auto. The only hard part figuring out which way

(01:45:49):
is easier. All right, big man, season win totals in
the NFL. If you look at the Colts right now,
they are at nine and a half winds. Would you
take the over or the under? There? What are you
thinking here? See? Now, this is a tough one because
it's all predicated on the health of one Andrew Luck.

(01:46:13):
That's right, So I guess I'll do it both ways, Okay,
over Andrew Austin Luck by the Andrew Austin Luck. Yeah,
looking at their schedule, I say, um, I'll take the under.

(01:46:35):
You're going under, I'm going under. You know it is.
It's one of the toughest calls in the NFL. I
am going to agree with you. I'm going to take
the under as well. It's not an easy division. They
play the a f C West, some tough teams. At
the top of it, you've got the NFC South, which

(01:46:56):
top to bottom is one of the best divisions in football.
And what the un certainty of Andrew Luck nine and
a half wins, that's still a good season. That nine
and seven is not too shabby. So yeah, I'm gonna
take the under. By the way, how about this for
the gamblers out there, the over is greatly favored. For
the over, it's minus one sixty the under is plus

(01:47:19):
one thirty. So without getting crazy in depth there, you
have to lay a lot more money to win if
you take the over, where you don't have to lay
nearly as much on the under, and if it hits
you get a better payout. So it's an interesting disparity
right now. Apparently Vegas, according to that they're not too

(01:47:40):
concerned about these injury issues with Andrew Luck. All right,
well you would know I can turn out the dead
wrong though spreadsheet. All right, how about the Bears. I'm
trying to I'm trying to disagree with you on something,
so hopefully we can broke her. Let you disagree with me, bear, Okay,

(01:48:01):
the Bears reret nine and a half? Also nine and
a half? Yeah, m hm mm hmm nine and a half.

(01:48:25):
I love how much you're not just saying I'm I'm not.
I'm really I'm studying. Yeah, I'll say I'll say over
good because I love the under. Love the under. On
the Bears. I'll give you a couple of reasons why

(01:48:47):
they led the league in total takeaways last season with
thirty six. They averaged over two takeaways a game. I
don't see them producing that many takeaways this season. And
if your defense isn't forcing as many turnovers, and there
were seven games they the opponents didn't reach seventeen points.

(01:49:10):
Think about that seven games. So if you don't have
the same defense, if you aren't producing the same turnovers,
and you need more from the offense. And Mitchell Trabinsky,
I just don't see them being a double digit win team.
I got him undernine and a half. Did their defense
get worse? Their defense but to produce same amount of
takeaway it is? It's very high, very high, right, But yeah,

(01:49:33):
they still have playmakers, they'll still have a very good defense.
Not like they lost some of their key guys left
and right. But I just don't see them being that productive. Like,
let me ask you this, Patrick Mahomes, Do you see
him throwing fifty touchdown passes again this year? I don't either,
Like he didn't get worse. It's just it's tough to
live up to a number that high. I see the

(01:49:55):
same thing with the Bears defense. So now here's the question.
Are we putting long John Silver's on this? Bet? Okay,
let's let's look at the other ones first. A right,
you just we just don't go on the first disagreement, alright, gosh,
right now, fine, fine, we'll go with some other stuff here.

(01:50:16):
How about how about the Atlanta Falcons eight and a
half winds, that's where their line is on the season.
Eight Okay, eight and a half winds, eight and a half.
I'm going over. I love the over from they were

(01:50:41):
so banged up defensively. I just I can't imagine they're
going to be hit with the injury bug the same way,
and in and in that division. We don't know what
Tampa is gonna do, and we don't know who Caroline
is gonna be. That's right, they're crazy. How about another team, name, name,
some team that you're kind of interested in. Team total? Y, Oh,
here's a good one. I'm looking at one right here.

(01:51:02):
You want to go with this one? Jacksonville Jaguars. What
is it eight? Oh, that's a pretty good number. That's
good number. That's a good number. I mean, they do
have the one and only Nick Foles there, Nick Fools

(01:51:23):
over by the way. They might be missing Cam Robinson
starting tackle and markis Lee, starting wide receiver in week one,
both have knee and but it's okay, it's all right.
They got Nick Fools to lead him to the promised Land.
They'll be just fine. I estimate they could lose, give
or take seven eight other starters offensively and defensively combined,

(01:51:46):
they'll be just fine, totally, just fine. Difference with this
one the difference maker over there, Nick Fools, What do
you have over under eight? They might hit that right
on the nose. I think that's an even Yeah, if
you got a lean one way or the other. Do
you see nine and seven or seven and nine more vividly?
I see nine and seven. Guys see seven and nine?

(01:52:09):
Not surprisingly right? What was the team you wanted to
go with I from? I was gonna say green Bay,
Green Bay? All right, let's see about green Bank green
Bay nine and a half. Yeah, you gotta go under
on that. Going under on that we don't have to.
But I'm going to lee Robert to lap the fourth
big time Packers fan? What do you have nine and
a half over or under for the Packers? I like

(01:52:32):
their schedule. I'm gonna go over. Of course, if you
didn't like the schedule, would you go over? I'd put
it at I'd put it at nine. If I didn't
like the schedule. How about this one? The Dolphins four
and a half winds? I might go under that one.
I gotta go under. All yeah, I'm gonna go under.

(01:52:56):
That's gonna be a long year, long year. So is
there a disagreement that you feel strongly enough where you
would put ljs on the line. The Cleveland Browns they
are at nine. I'll go just for the bed, I'll

(01:53:18):
go over. But that's I You could they could go
they could win ten games. That's outlanding. I thought you
would take the under for sure. I mean, I'm gonna
take the under because I see eight and Nate more
clearly than ten and six. But would it shock me

(01:53:43):
if they went ten and six. No, they got a
ton of talent. I'm gonna take the under. Okay, So
we're putting LJS now long John Silver's. We talked about
this earlier in the show. You said that you haven't
had it for three decades. It's been a long time
in three decades, all right. So, um, if the Browns
don't reach double digit winds, you eat an LJS meal.

(01:54:08):
So what do I have to do if they reached
ten wins? What is something that you don't necessarily like? Uh? Okay,
how about this? We're spitballing. What about Arby's. I'm okay
with Arby's, and I don't even know how that's even possible.
Why you're against Arby's. Arby's is awful. We've got the meats.

(01:54:36):
Nobody eats at Arby's. Don Brown, Do you disagree with that?
With that buzzer, I totally disagree. I do not eat
Arby's like that anymore. Just because of whatever reason. But
I grew up on arby so I can't runt on it.
See you used to have roast beef sandwiches at Arby's
like a mug bro with that onion roll. For sure,
for sure, the whole family. Lee, did you use? Did

(01:54:59):
you eat an arb? Never? Ever? Never, I'm never pulled
into Army's like, oh, it's time. I walked into one
once they were giving sandwiches away. He lift five for
two dollars or something like that. It's like, no, I'm
cool too. It was great eating. Leave walked into an
Arby's and walked out for the road trip. I was starving.

(01:55:22):
I walked in there like no, I'm good, Like, yeah,
that's not for me. You're against the ham sandwich. What's
wrong with the ham sandwich? Not there ham sandwich? Wow?
Man haters in the house. Goodness, all right, let's do this.
Let's brainstorm over the next couple of minutes. We'll reconvene

(01:55:45):
here and try to iron out this bet. And also
from the guy goes Studios. The biggest reason why you
aren't seeing a big name in action tonight, I'm Brian. No,
he's he from salam This is Fox Sports Radio. I'm
Brian No, he's he for salam here on Fox Sports Radio,
coming to you from the Geico Studios. It's bitter sweet, right,

(01:56:05):
bitter sweet when we get the awesome walk off song
by a guy Don Brown. Yeah, but I love that
memory though. Just keep it, you know, I smile. I
do too. It's great little nipsey hustle at the end
of a show. It's great and it's it's sad. That's
why I say it's bitter sea the end of the show.
We have so much more to talk about, but that's it.

(01:56:26):
We've gotta make way for Arnie Spaniard and Aaron Torres.
We're just like we're running the four by one hundred
over here, you know, pass him the batton. That's right.
Would Arnie be running the final lake or would it
be Aeron Torres? Who is faster? Who's faster than who?
I'm gonna go with Aaron Torres by just a smidge.

(01:56:47):
We're talking photo finish over there, alright, you from so
let's get to the business first and then we'll let
our hair down before we get out of here. Stephen
Jones there with the Cowboys made of very interesting statement
on one oh five three the fan about Ezekiel Elliot's
hold out, and of course, Ezekiel Elliott one of the

(01:57:08):
biggest names in football. He of course is still holding out,
so he's not there tonight when the Cowboys are taken
on the forty Niners. Dak Prescott still looking for a
contract extension, but he was on the field tonight started
the game. No Zeke, But listen to Stephen Jones. He says,
a couple of things are really interesting, the Cowboys perspective
on how much money they should be paying Ezekiel Elliott.

(01:57:31):
Check this out. I still think that's within realm. At
the same time, I think the market reached out with Levian,
you know, I think you see what happens with Gurley,
how tenuous it is, and then you get a great
player like Levian who's every bit as well thought of
as as Girly, and he had unfettered free agency, had
thirty two teams with no draft picks attached, and the

(01:57:52):
market was thirteen point five less than Girle. So at
the end of the day, business changes, and uh, we
certainly pay attention to that as well. How about that
they're citing girl's injury concerns with potential having an arthritic knee,
So like, well, you see how tenuous it is when
you're paying these running backs, like a little reluctant to

(01:58:13):
do that. And then they say the market reset with
Levan's Bell with Lebans deal. So they're like, don't come
talk to us about girly what he got. They're doing
a Denzel from training day. They're like, that day is
dead dog. We don't roll like that no more. They're like,
the market reset with Levy. I find that to be

(01:58:34):
really really interesting, and it seems like this holdout is
gonna last a little while longer for sure. And they're right,
the market did reset. You can't go off what the
last year deals. You can't google, you can't go off
what the market was last year. Yeah, you have to
go off what the current market is. And Levian Bell
was the biggest running back free agent on the market.

(01:58:56):
You saw what he got. That's what the going it is. Yea,
look at any other position. Look at what Michael Thomas
got Saints wide receiver. It's not like the Falcons can
go to Julio Jones and say, well you should be
getting less. They're like, oh no, no, no, No, like
this is where the market is right now. So it
works the same way in reverse for running backs. So

(01:59:18):
I agree with the Cowboys from their standpoint. But I
don't think that is Zekiel is gonna agree with him. No,
he's not gonna agree with him because he's you know,
players hate comparing themselves with other players. So I'm better
than him. I should get more. Yeah, alrighty from so
I've got uh, I'm gonna throw something out there. We're
brokering a deal here. We're using the Browns their season

(01:59:42):
win total of nine. You have the over. I'm taking
the under. If they do not reach ten wins, you
gotta eat some long John Silver's. If they do reach
ten wins, I freaking eat sushih. This is true. I

(02:00:03):
hate it. I've had it one time in my life,
the only other time because I lost a bet and
I hated it. So I would present that to you
if you find that to be suitable. Okay. By the way,
I found out in the Break that our guy Lee
Robert to Lap, the fourth our trusted producer, he has
never had a blizzard from dairy Queen. What Yeah, I

(02:00:25):
did just have my first Dairy Queen did not have
a blizzard. Wrong, buddy, He had a Hamburger DA. He's
never had a blizzard E from Salam. That's just disrespectful.
I'm sorry. He's never had red lobster either. That's not
nearly as great of an offense is not having a blizzard.

(02:00:49):
Just come on, man, get get peanut butter cups, get something,
get anything. Late goodness,
