Speaker 1 (00:01):
You don't listening to Fox Sports. Oh let's go, Arenie,
let's go, big boy, let's go. How have How was
it last night actuallying me get to do a Saturday
night show? Were you jealous? Will you jealous at all?
I'm like, it's a little weird. Did you know I did?

(00:21):
I heard you on the show. I heard you before me.
What do you mean I didn't even listen stopped then
I was listening to you and Brian. No, not no
offense against you guys. You didn't sound very good. So
I just want to right right, No, I completely understand
up to those levels you did not. But it was
fun last night because I realized that we may have

(00:42):
found one of the more intriguing storylines that's going to
carry us from now until the start of whenever we
get back after this thing, Arenie. And that is that
is wild different theories or analogies as a what might
happen to our seasons? Be where our seasons could be played?

(01:07):
And see what's next for our beloved sports. So that's
one of the that's that's not anything negative about anyone,
it's just we don't know as we come to you
alive from the guy go Fox sports radio studios. Fifteen
minutes could save you fifteen cent or more on car insurance.
All you have to do is visit guy dot com
for a free rate quote. Let me say this quick

(01:29):
out because forget about the show for a second. I
we heard the president April now is going to be
the day where they're gonna push the quarantine back. Everybody's
bummed out. My my son's like, I gotta go. I
gotta this and that I go. Look, everybody put on
their big boy pants on. I know it's gonna be
I know it's a little bit tough right now. April.

(01:50):
That's what he said. We'll get through it. We'll go
ahead and we'll hunker down. We'll get through the end
of April. It's gonna be a tough month, but we'll
do it. Now, I'm gonna have to figure out what
to do to the month of April. I think it
gonna I'm getting inspired, So I think I'm gonna do
like five hundred push ups, five hundred sit ups a
day and um and see if I could do that
through the month of April. Okay, well, great, good luck

(02:10):
with that. Do you think I could do more? You
think I do a thousand a day. I don't think
you can do a thousand a day, but I don't
doubt you, Arenie. I'm not a hater like you are.
A thousand push some thousand sit ups. I don't think
you can do a thousand push ups in a thousand
sit ups today. I don't think herschel Walker does a
thousand sit ups in he does like he does like two. Well,

(02:31):
I mean when I think elite athletes, I think Arnie Spaniers.
So go for it, man, go I think I could
do a thousand push ups five sit ups today. Okay,
what do you I mean? I'm sitting here. I don't
get Here's what I don't get about you. Sometimes we
we have this whole topic lined up and you interrupt

(02:52):
it to go down your own path to talk about
how many sit ups and push ups you can do.
That's where we're going on this show tonight, Arnie. What
do you You don't have to do the whole three
You know what why you had a big hurry is
did you want to talk about how Arizona be Kentucky
the national championship in ninety seven that I watched today
or or not? I thought it might have been cool

(03:13):
to say in the open instead of how many pushups
are sent ups you can do? How about some thumbs up, kudos,
high fives, hugs, if we could to those on the
front line for us right now. There's been a lot
of amazing shows of of gratitude and obviously sacrifice that
are out there right now. But man, we're we're gonna
lose this battle without them. So we appreciate those on

(03:35):
the front line. And there is no way on days
lean or if you could do a thousand pushups or
a thousand sit ups in a week, Arnie. So when
you say bobos in a week, maybe you got me inspired,
don't you were? You were just mocking me. I thought
you were believing in me. No, No, I've turned on
you right now. I've done the one I see. I've
been watching WrestleMania. So while you're watching seven games, I'm

(03:57):
watching guys take chair shot to the back. So am
I okay? And diving into the topic that seems like
now I'm gonna do five five hundred starting tomorrow. But
let's get into it. What's going on? Big boy, Arnie? Arnie?
I there needs to be documented proof. Though there has
to be document I'll document it all right, Um so,

(04:18):
anyway back to the original point, if we're sitting here
and we're not gonna have sports now for the foreseeable future,
and oh what about that over on May oneet would
have been if we would have been able to jump
in on that, right, Because I don't care what sport
you are right now, w n B, A, NASCAR, any

(04:38):
sport that might be trying to get a jump. I
mean I I listened this week to how everyone's telling
all of us how they're getting back to normal and
certain parts of of China, and then suddenly they started
their league back up and had to shutter it yet again.
So I don't think we're getting back to the field faster.
But Arnie, are are we really going to be playing games?

(04:59):
We add the college rumor about playing games in the summer,
which I'll get to a little bit later on in
the show, But how about the rumor that if the
NFL season were to proceed without fans in attendance, that
maybe the NFL would follow one of those rooms. And again,
I want to make this very clear, because this is

(05:20):
what happens in a time when we're content needing. This
is a theory that has been put so any of
the aggregators out there, this is nothing from the NFL,
This is nothing from Fox Sports Radio. This is a
theory that was posed from Mike Florio and Pro Football Talk.
Would be to play games literally in the middle of nowhere,
wherever that might be in some people's mind, and build

(05:41):
enough fields to play the various games on any given
Sunday and Saturday, and have enough rooms to house the players, coaches, trainers, broadcasters,
et cetera for seventeen weeks of football and four weeks
of the postseason. And another possibility would be to add
the football facility at Crane Bryer in West Virginia to

(06:02):
the mill. So, in other words, what we're just gonna
create a field of dreams out of nowhere to try
to play these games. Is is that what we come
to in Rumorville? Know you know what, Christmas, I'll make
myself perfectly clips. I know a lot of people are
on Herb Street about his his thoughts Van Gundy on
his thoughts. Um. I believe when it comes to the NFL,

(06:22):
we stay the course. I think things will be better
by then we'll be able to get back to full
speed ahead. By when September comes around, and I don't
think the NFL or even college football, Um, we'll have
to worry about playing in front of empty stadiums. If anything,
maybe maybe they restrict some attendance. But I don't even
think that's going to happen. Now. As to what's going
to happen in the NBA, the NHL, Major League Baseball,

(06:45):
I don't know. Straight to the playoffs, Major League Baseball
and eighty one game season. I'm here in thirty two
game season. People still want to get a hundred game
If it was up to Scott Bors, we'd be playing
Little Christmas. I don't know what's going to happen. I
don't think it's going to affect football. I'm hoping it
doesn't affect football. I'm trying to remain positive that by
the time it gets to then, we'll figure it out.

(07:06):
When the President says April is the day we're gonna
finish off quarantine, that's right now. If I'm the NBA,
if I'm the NHL, if i'm mad jor League Baseball,
I'm thinking, okay, when are we starting up the thirty
quarantine's done, I get back to work. If I'm the
NBA guys getting in shape starting May oneet Major League Baseball,

(07:27):
they better start their spring training, and let's go full
steam ahead late May, middle of May, late May for
the NBA, NHL, and let's get full steam ahead for
June one for Major League Baseball. Let's go. But again, Arny,
it sounds good, But this was supposed to be a
two week deal, and then prior to that or over
under was May one. I mean, how do we know

(07:47):
that it's gonna be? And I'm I'm playing Devil's advocate
to your optimism here, I'm playing guy in the mentions
whenever you try to say anything positive about someone recovering
from it. Um, what if we're still not in a
situation where anything is is set in and we start
seeing that curve flatten? What if there suddenly becomes a

(08:08):
concern about the rebirth of this whenever we hit the
winter months and maybe we're going back to school. Does
that factoring at all in any of your concern right now?
Are you just are you staying positive? No? No, no,
look of course, what if? I mean, I I can't
deal with that right now. I've got to I've got
to look at the facts that are front of me,
in front of me now, and that's April thirties. Now.

(08:28):
Of course, if they extended, then I've got to think. Okay, NBA,
maybe there's no more regular season and when you come
back and straight to the playoffs. Um, same thing with
the NHL, Major League Baseball. Maybe we're looking at the
when I say June one, maybe all Star break. Maybe
it is only an eighty one game season, and then
I have to start worrying about football and what I've
got to do there. But until they tell me that

(08:51):
or until I see that that's going to happen. Um,
I'm putting the thirty April is okay, Quarantine done. Um,
let's get into shape in May. Let's start the NBA
and NHL sometime from May. Let baseball get the extra
spring training and start June. First off, what else can
I do? Chris? Are you? Are you playing in front
of fans? Yeah, I'm gonna have to play in front

(09:14):
of France until they tell me it's unhealthy and not safe.
I've got to get back to normal. America's got to
get back to normal. So yeah, I'm playing in front
of fans. Let's see you. So you're gonna USh your
fans in with the possibility that once you do that,
it could trigger something else. I think we need to
look at ways that we're gonna be playing an empty arena. Well,
I shouldn't say empty arenas fanless arenas. That that's what

(09:36):
a short term. Look again, I'm not a doctor. That's
a possibility they think. You know, if I was at
a radio host, I was going to be a doctor. No,
I'm serious. I'm not kidding around about that. It's just
funny now to see how it's turned out. But could
you imagine, Arnie Span you're on the front lines right
now arguing with somebody about it and having changed his
opinion from three weeks ago. It would be fantastic. It

(09:58):
would be You'd be telling everyone, no, no, no, it's
still not going anywhere you did. But I think it
would have been like an emergency room doctor. Yeah, yeah,
not seriously, Why do you dock everything I say? I
can't do. I can't I can't be a doctor. Geez,
would you are you? What was were you? Premed? No?

(10:19):
Premed prey, Well, the same thing, but that was an
audible house I got, I got. Okay, Here's why I
think that the idea of just saying, all right, April Thirtie,
drop dead, let's go, We're getting back to it. I
think it's gonna be one of those situations where from
a UM crowd perspective, we'll have to ease back into it,

(10:40):
which is why when we're talking about these theories about
what could be that next step, Arnie, I absolutely love
what Clay Travis post tonight, and I'm still kind of
in the infancy of embracing it all and maybe we'll
have to dive into it a little bit deeper. But
if if you're going to pose that we're gonna magic
we create these fields of dreams for the National Football League,

(11:04):
guess where we don't have to magically create places to
play games in the NBA and and in a city
like Vegas. So here's just a quick snapshot of it.
We'll go more in depth a little bit later on
in the show, but the idea is, rather than play
around the country or pick a few neutral sites to
host games, rights Clay, the NBA should just relocate the

(11:26):
entire league to Vegas, put every team inside hotels the
league exclusively controls, and play out the remainder of the
season in Gym's there um Major League Baseball and mL
S and in the NHL. You know, those are a
little bit tougher obviously with baseball and and Major League
Soccer outdoors. But the NBA would have an incredible opportunity

(11:47):
to play play its games in Vegas, broadcasting them around
the world. And you would also have the hotels in
the Casunos, which I think would be jumping at the
opportunity to kick start their tourism that has been absolutely
imploded over the last couple of weeks. What are you
gonna put what are you gonna put one like one

(12:07):
one team in each hotel or something like that, or
put them on separate flours and you know, like the
Lakers are on four one, the Clippers are on four
to you know, stuff like that. I guess, so, I
guess so, I guess that's what you would eventually come to.
Rights Just why out there and stay out there for
two months or once you're eliminated you can finally leave.
It's not the way it's going to work. Sure, why

(12:28):
not have each player enter into a two week quarantine
in the team hotel. This is the rundown from Clay.
Once the players arrive in Vegas, past their quarantine, get
their temperatures taken every day, and they have practice. If
a player test positives, this is where it gets a
little bit weird. If a player test positive for the coronavirus,
the entire team in league doesn't have to shut down

(12:50):
because that one player will be able to head back
to his quarantine. I don't listen, there's a lot of potential,
uh speed bumps in this thing. My idea better of
just bringing it all back and and not worrying about
infectious diseases anymore and just playing ball. Either that or
I'll just find a cure. I'll work on That's and

(13:12):
that's where people got mad at at at kirk Kirksey.
Here's the bottom line and all of this what I
said in the open, this is going to be the
topic now from here to for at least for the
next few weeks. You get really smart people in the
media that start trying to come up with ways that
we can do this to where at the very least, Arenie,
if we're not gonna get to sit inside the arena

(13:33):
and watch games, we can still make some income off
the TV. Right steals for these leagues help them continue
to thrive and then it gives us something to watch
as fans. I mean, you think win win, lose lose
for season ticket holders, but I mean, at the very least,
it would give us a little bit of positivity in
the time in the sports world that for the future
of the sport. There doesn't seem to be too much

(13:54):
right now. I know, um and I look, I am
prepared to see games being played in front of empty crowd. Uh.
You would think that once we get back that things
are going to be safe. You don't know, though, I
don't know. So let's you know, if we have to
play in front of an empty crap you know, no fans,
then so be it. If we have to eliminate our
our you know kind of uh, reduced the number of

(14:16):
fans that have to be at the game so they
have to sit every other scene, then so be that also.
But we'll get through it. It isn't I don't think
it's gonna go ahead and carry on through football, are
through basketball, then baseball, hockey, and then carry into the NFL.
I just don't think that's gonna happen, all right. When
we come back to the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios again,
these are theories that are being posed. These are ideas

(14:39):
that are just being suggested. So there's still events that
we can talk about, like the NFL Draft and the
looming big names in free agency. And when we come back,
Artie's boy, he's become one of my favorites. Matt verde
Ram is gonna join us and we'll talk about what's
next for the National Football League in the draft process
and should gms be ma did Roger Goodell. We'll dig

(15:01):
into it next Fox Sports Radio. I want to hear
something amazing. Discover matches all the cash back you earn

limit to how much will match. Millions of people a
year are getting their cash back matched Discover cash Back Match.
What are you waiting for? Learn more at discover dot
com slash cash back Match. Yes, the NFL Draft is on.

(15:24):
NFL News continues. Matt Verdam joins US Fans sided Stacking
the Box podcast. Great Twitter followers. I've learned as well too, Matt.
Do g ms or teams have a right or at
least a feeling to be a little bit perturbed by
the wording and Roger Goodell's memo this week or do
you think that's what you kind of have to lay
out there is hey quick grinching about it. It's happening. Yeah, Look,

(15:46):
I think it's a little bit of both, right. I
think the gms from some of these teams, especially maybe
some of the guys who you know, are younger in
this job who haven't had time to build up the experiences.
Maybe some of these older stands John Schneider for Exena.
I think they're gonna be perturbed because they're gonna feel
like they're at a bit of a disadvantage. And I

(16:08):
get that, and I'm sure Rocher also gets that. Yeah,
I think Youdell gotta kind of come down firm on.
It's just if that's the route they're gonna go. You
can't you wish you washed. You've gotten to say, look,
this is happening. We're gonna be going on as scheduled. Uh,
you know, here's the way we're gonna change things. And look,
I knew this was cast in the die a long
time ago. When they went with free agency on time,

(16:30):
I think they pretty much told everybody's draft coming on time.
I know there's been some talk about maybe the schedule
gets moved back in terms of the schedule release, you
can't confirm it, and I I I just think that
you know, at this point to the NFL, you might
as well go business as usual because other than O
t A, you're really not impacted by this until the
middle of a late part of summer. Matt, I totally agree.

(16:53):
I think the NFL has to move forward. It's just
the draft. People are saying, well, we don't want to
see people signing for millions of millions of dollars. Nobody's
getting a contract during the draft or just deciding what
order they go in. Um, nobody's offering any money that day.
I think the ratings are going to be through the roof.
I think it's gonna be a positive distraction. I'm glad
the NFL is going forward. Yeah, I don't have a

(17:15):
problem with it. You know, at this point, anyone who's
responsible been in quarantine if they if they can't be
obviously some people depending on their jobs can't. But um,
if you've been sitting inside like most of us have
here for two weeks, three weeks, and by the time
that draft rolls around a month and a half, you're
begging for the NFL Draft, Like if you're an NFL thing,

(17:36):
You're like, please, I don't want to take a month,
give me anything so I can take my mind off
this started with any other sports to watching in this time.
So I don't have a problem with it. I understand that,
you know, you've got to strike the right tone and
the right balance and and for sure, but I don't
have an issue with the NFL doing this like the

(17:56):
other alternatives. So if they were to push this off,
then when does it happen, Like, you don't know when
this whole thing is going to start, the break if
you want to do the term flat, the curve, whatever,
You don't know if it's gonna happen. So if I'm
the NFL, yeah, I'm going with it, and then you know,
we'll see what happens from there. Matt Um. Now, obviously,
as we dive into the draft, there's two big storylines

(18:18):
outside of it, and that is the m v P
from the season and what the number one overall pick
and when the twelve or eleven is unsigned, as is
the number one overall pick for the NFL draft. And
oh yeah, jenevon Clowney who was the number one pick
in the draft. A couple of years later is unsigned
are there? There's not gonna be a jackpot I think
for any three of these guys. But do you see

(18:39):
any of them getting signed before April? Yeah, I think
Clowney will I'd be surprised if he doesn't want I
think at this point, yeah, well, I ain't expossible. I
think it's more and more likely the chattels. I mean,
I don't think, Look, you wanted. For My understanding is
he wanted twenty million plus a year when he hit
the market, and that was true even a year ago

(19:02):
when he was in Houston and he was briefly on
the franchise tag. And I think teams just you know,
you to talk to some people in the world is look,
he's a really talented player, but is he von Millerish
Maybe not. He's probably on that second tier. And he's
got an injury history, so I think, you know, teams
are a little bit leary, and so you know, I
think that's one part of it, plus the coronavirus thing. Look,

(19:24):
it matters for guys who have an injury history because
nobody can really take a physical the way you normally would,
So that kind of throws a wrench into it. As
far as as far as Newton, another guy with an
injury history, always recently. Yeah, I think he and Winston.
I mean that might play out longer. Um, there's no
obvious starting role for these guys. And talked about New England,

(19:45):
but New England's go catch stage. You can talk about
the Charges the Chargers. Hes fine with Tyrod Taylor and
probably a rookie. And if you oliminate those two teams
made we go compete with Gardner Mintew. But there's not
an obvious Oh well, that team's gonna end up picking
up the tab. I don't know that that that exists.
I think the Raiders are somewhat fascinating in terms of

(20:08):
a quarterback. It's no secret that they're not over the
moon with Car and I know they signed Mariota, but
they could move Car in an interestant if they had to.
I'm curious kind of watching them over the next month
of that position. Matt, Are you all in on Stidham? Yeah?
Your nay on Stidham for the New England Patriots. What
are you thinking? I mean, nothing against Jared Stidham, but

(20:30):
nay right now. It's never a good sign. And I
said it's happen jas because he was a rookie who
was coming off the night's goal. But he came into
a game last year at Foxburg in the catch and
a blowout and threw a pick and looked bad and
immediately got taken out of the game. Uh, and they
had to put Brady back in. Look, I'm not knocking

(20:51):
Jared Stidham, but he's a mid round pick. I don't
think anybody thought when he got drafted, Oh, he's definitely
gonna be the guy. Now. Obviously, New England in the
history of taking the eye in mid to late rounds
and it works out. But that is a one a
million shot. Um. Look, I think eventually it's gonna be
Hoyer this year for them, and you know there, you know,
unless unless they find great value in the draft, you know,

(21:13):
somehow like Jordan's love to selling them or something and
they said, well, we're gonna go ahead and pull the
trigger on that. But I think it's probably Hoyer because
Belichick probably shyer and thinks I can win nine games
in Brian Hoyer ten games, I mean, whether or not
you can will see. But he won eleven games in
that castle, so it's not out of the wrong possibility.

(21:33):
He brought up the Raiders, and I'm triggered, what more
does Mike Mayock and John Gruden have to say to
kind of sell you that Cars their quarterback and Mariotte
is their backup. I mean, what more do you need
to hear from them? It's not so much what I
need to hear. I I actually, when I was at
the scouting combine that Mayock was doing this, just pressed
her up on the podium, actually asked him a question

(21:54):
about uh, two different players and you know, the quarterbacks
of course came up through the course the interviews, and
he said, you don't, look, we're happy with Derek Carr,
We're happy with where we're at, but we're always want
to upgrade any position. And look, I'm not trying to
read anymore into it than what it was. I think
he was being honest, and they always trying to get
better any position they can. Every tam would tell you that.
But I don't think it wasn't a shoe because that

(22:16):
last year when when they were drafting in the top five,
if they could have gotten caught the Murray take him.
I mean, I think that was bruten thought the world
of Murray, and look, I don't think they're they're desperate
to move off Car. But let's say they love to
us or they love Justin Herbert, and I don't know

(22:36):
that they do. But if they do, they have picks
twelve of the nineteme. They could package those picks and
get ahead of the Chargers and take a guy if
they wanted to. They're probably to get the four of
the Giants. They could do it if they really wanted to.
And I just think when you look at Car, you
have to ask yourself the Share Raiders fans, are they
winning that division ever? With Derek car against fashion proms.

(22:57):
The answer, if Mahomes is upright, is probably lean now.
So if that's the case, then you've got to go
find a guy who your least can go into a
season going, hey, you know what, we have a shot here.
I think the Raiders have improved that. I like their
signing of Littleton, But if you have their car, you're
always gonna have a shealing that is below what you

(23:18):
needed to be. In my thing, Matt, last thing for me,
I gotta know sometimes in the stock market that goes
up in down, you make money, you lose money. Same
thing in real estate. Why does Dak Prescott have to
be the highest paid quarterback just because his contracts up. Now,
why can't we say, you know, a good year to
be given big raises right now? Why can't he get
just like a thirty thirty five million dollar year contract.

(23:39):
How much is this guy gonna make? I don't know
that he's gonna end up being the highest paid quarterback.
But the problem the Cowboys have is that they had
taken care of him last year, and they should have
and I think privvately maybe even tell you they know
they should have. They would have been able to slot
him and probably right around one two, but then went

(24:00):
paid and then Goff got paid. And the key to that,
Goff was awful last year. So he's looking at this going, well,
I've got to make more Jared Goff. I'm better than
Jared Goff, which she is, I think an arguably he's
Barren Jared Goff. Now, I don't think he's Bearton Russell Wilson.
I don't think you shouldet paid more than Russell Wilson.
And there's gonna be an argument there. But if you're Prescott,
now you're sitting there saying, look, I'm happy to sit

(24:21):
here on the tag and wait, because Patrick Mahomes and
DeShawn Watson are off for contract extensions. Mahomes is gonna
get forty million a year if you want, it's gonna
slot in right behind him, probably thirty seven thirty eight.
I don't think Prescott is getting more than either one
of those guys, but I think you could slide in
near where Watson is if if the cards fall right now,

(24:42):
if if he doesn't want to wait, then I think
he's probably more right around Wilson. But it is partially look,
he's the next guy to get signed. And also part
of this is he has played well. He's coming off
his best statistical year, and I think he's looking at
this and going, hey, look you guys, maybe wait, he
may be playing I did that now, Now it's sign

(25:02):
to pay me typically, especially in that position, get paid.
We're running along, but real quick to uh or borrow.
Do you think there's gonna be any debate at all? No? No,
not at all. I just wrote a column at it
with bangs. No. I shocked it grows, not that I
want to roll back. All right, man, we appreciate it.
I know that you're you're staying busy Matt great follow

(25:22):
on Twitter and we'll have to catch up and do
this again soon. Hey, thanks thanks Matt. Matt verder Am
joining us so I would count. I would cut my
arm off if Derek Carr wasn't the quarterback to start
the season for the Raiders. It's fun to talk about,
it's fun to bring up. It ain't happening, just like
two is not going ahead, like Max not getting traded.

(25:44):
Um No, Yeah, that was one that I was wrong on,
but I didn't risk cutting my arm off. See, I
follow through on my bets. I'm like, I'm like Arnie,
how many times have you said you're gonna quit your
job before? Many? Many times? Not three? Not full? Yes, yes,

(26:05):
What quarterback do you look at in the a f
C West and say, yeah, they can duel with Patrick Mahomes.
What quarterback do you really look like? Look at in
the a f C. May like one or two, It's
it's just just a ridiculous take all right. Steve de
Seger come strolling into the Geico Fox Sports radio studios
after what was an impassioned evening of updates last night.

(26:26):
What's going On? Steve enjoyed having us co host for
one of the shows last night. Thank you, thank you?
Oh you two? Arenie High, Oh wow, what you're talking
to me? Does anyone usually talk to you? From place
to Visus says it's Olympic sponsorship will be extended to
next year, when the delayed Tokyo Games are due to

(26:48):
take place. This is the first major sponsor to continue
its support and since the Olympics were recently postponed. The
International Boxing Hall of Fame is canceled it's Hall of
Fame weekend in June because of the coronavirus pandemic. So oh.
They say tonight that this year's class will be honored
at the induction ceremony in June of one instead the Celtics.
Marcus Smart says he was cleared of the coronavirus a

(27:09):
couple of days ago. Two Cubs employees tested positive for
the virus this past week. One was hospitalized, the other
one was recovering at home. Former alfielder Jim Edmonds was
in the hospital yesterday and was tested for coronavirus. He
does have pneumonia. Former Washington Huskies football coach Jim Lambright
passed away at age seventy seven. He was their head
coach from the Detroit Lions will sign wide receiver Geronimo

(27:31):
Allison X of Green Bay a one year deal where
just over one million dollars. In four seasons with the Packers,
Allison had a total of about a thousand receiving yards
six touchdowns in forty six career games. Defensive Back Ronald
Darby agreed to a one year deal with the Redskins.
In his three seasons with Philadelphia, Darby missed twenty games,
including a torn a cl in ten and yes. Among

(27:53):
the free agents still available, quarterbacks Cam Newton and Jamis
Winston also pass wrestlers Jadeveon Clowney and Everson Griffin. The
most cap space in the league right now is reportedly
belonging to the Cleveland Browns, then Houston, the Jets in
Detroit on the list. The NFL Draft is scheduled to
start April. Jimmy Johnson says his Hall of Fame presenter

(28:13):
this year will be Troy Aikman and Terry Bradshaw will
put the jacket on him. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones still
hasn't put Johnson in the team's Ring of honor. Tom
Landry went in three years after going into the Hall
and the Madden Invitational aired on FS one tonight. It's
just starting again as a repeat. I will tell you
that Michael Vick, one of the eight competitors, does make

(28:33):
the final. I don't want to give away all of it,
but Chris Myers is co hosting this over two hour event.
Fox said had helped raise money for the CDC's Corona
virus response efforts with this. And I did see this
item that today, A towel Kobe Bryant used in his
final game with the Lakers was at auction, and uh,
the towel and two tickets from that game in it

(28:55):
sold for over thirty thousand dollars on an online auction.
I am looking at the page here, including buyer's premium
thirty three thousand and seventy seven and sixteen cents back
to you. Uh, good stuff to Sager as we come
to live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios. It's
easy to say fift or more on car insurance with Geico.

(29:16):
Go to Geico dot com or call eight hundred nine
four seven Auto. The only hard party is figuring out
which way is easier. Hey, um, Arnie, so you don't
I don't have a problem I don't make any I
lead a lot doesn't have a problem, BO, but doesn't
have a problem to say doesn't have a problem, we
don't have any issue. We don't have any issue with
the NFL going on with business as usual. A lot
of people must do. That's why the commissioner had to

(29:38):
come out and say, well, he was saying it to
the GMS. Well, I think that was more just trying
to silence some of the noise. And again I thought
it was a little bit of a little bit of
a shot, and and I guess it needed to be
right to just kind of say, hey, everybody calmed down
here a little bit, we're not moving the draft, it's
not pushed back, and quit saying things about it. Now.

(30:01):
Did he have a right to do that as the commissioner, Sure,
But did it come off a little bit short sided
in your opinion, or maybe even a little bit kind
of bush league you have to put that language in
there or now. No, I don't think it was bush
league or short sighted. Um. I just think a lot
of people are going through a lot of people are nervous,
people a little scared, and then when you come up
with that tone of voice saying and don't question my authority.

(30:23):
Don't bring it up or you could be punished. Makes
the rest of us start thinking, what's going on here?
That's what we're all about. I mean, that's what we do.
And I know he wasn't talking to us in the media,
but look, what difference does it make to you, um commissioner.
I mean, we're behind you. A lot of people are
behind you. So what if a few baby gms want
to complain? And I think that's ridiculous because the fact

(30:45):
they say they're gonna be at a disadvantage. How are
you at a disadvantage if every team is going to
be doing it like that. I'm not I'm not following.
And sure, you've been doing your homework now for how
many months? Four, five, six, seven, eight months? Now? I
mean you should be ready to go there, Chris, come
on and and you have a built in excuse to
come on, and well, I didn't have a chance to

(31:06):
work with him. They do a crappy job when they
bring them in anyway, So maybe this will help you
a little bit. And maybe it's better off you don't
see the kids face to face. The team that has
the two teams that actually have the biggest advantages or
what maybe Detroit and Cincinnati since they got to coach
the Senior Bowl. So maybe there's your two teams that
have an advantage. Maybe a couple of guys on with

(31:28):
programs that we're able to still have pro days like
Jalen Hurd's getting to throw at the Oklahoma Pro Day.
What I think, Uh, there's about five or six other
schools that had pro days as well to maybe that
number is higher, But yeah, I mean what you have
all the information. I don't know who it helps. I
don't know who it hurts. It hurts as far as
players are concerned. I'm sure it hurts the injured guys.
So all we have from TUA is what like a

(31:49):
one minute Instagram video that everyone's gonna lose their mind about.
But I'm gonna be very you know, we're learning a lot.
We're learning a lot about how things may change. I'm
willing to bet once we get act to kind of
business as usual, Arnie, I ain't travel is gonna diminish
in businesses because this zoom and and Skype and whichever
way you want to handle your business pretty easy, right,

(32:10):
cut down that travel expence quite a bit. So With
that in mind, I can't help, but wonder if maybe
the way we start doing business in the NFL with
the draft and maybe pulling back a little bit. I'm
a believer that you can. You can't analyze enough for
the NFL draft, But I wonder if things go well,
if you pull back, how you scout and evaluate from uh,

(32:30):
from the point the off season starts? Also, well, how
to scout evaluate? What? Why don't you just watch some games?
For crying out loud, why don't you watch some college football?
Why don't you hire a couple of people on your
stuff saying I'm Saturdays, you're gonna be watching some college
football and uh and get back to us, take notes
and and be prepared like you and I do like
you know you you watch all I mean, you're the

(32:51):
college football king, Torres that I do the college football show.
I'm a home all days Saturday. Why don't you talk
to people that are sitting home all day Saturday watching
college football for the last three four years. Then make
a judgment on these kids, not what they could run
in the forty and how high they can jump at
the combine? Well, I mean, you do know they have
scouts and go to games. Know what it means, Well,
these scouts must be sitting around having a hot dogs

(33:13):
and beer. They're not doing a very good job. You
act like they miss on every single draft pick that's
out there. Just about Hey, isn't isn't half the NFL
like undrafted rookie free agents out there or what? Yeah,
but there's more opportunities to be a one undrafted NFL
free agent. There's only seven rounds in the draft, so
it's people that that might set where there's more three

(33:34):
star and two star players. That's right, because there's only
a handful of five stars that are given out. They
do a lousy job with the I think the NFL
does the worst job with the draft. I don't know
if it's as bad as basketball. But they Why you
you were futing that you think they do a good job.
I think they do a pretty damn good job of
evaluating town wake up doing the n m is call

(33:56):
and I don't know what plan of you're living on. Yeah. See,
I I can just sit here and laugh when you
say that, because you'll change your opinion in two weeks
and you'll be telling me how amazing they are. So
I mean, they hit more than they I can't say
that they hit more than they miss, but I don't
think that's the case with anyone. I don't think you
can truly gauge what's gonna happen with certain guys when
you give him ten to fifteen million dollars as opposed

(34:17):
the other way. So yeah, I think they do a
pretty damn good job. And you know what's funny is
this year they might actually do their best job because
they don't try to over analyze everything. Like maybe that's
a good thing for them for once, you know, maybe
they won't overthink it. I do like this from Madam
right hey, thank you for the great Bengals news hashtag gooday. Yeah,
think about Cincinnati and Detroit got to coach of the

(34:38):
Senior Bowl, so they might have the biggest advantage over
anyone heading into this draft. Now, again, I think Cincinnati's
got a pretty slam dunk what's going on at number
one with Joe Burrow. But Arnie, when we start getting
into those areas in the third and fourth round where
you kind of think everyone sucks at their job, then
maybe there's an opportunity for them to have a little
bit of a leg up. We'll see. Yeah, I can't

(34:58):
wait till the buster to start rolling on in when
you see that, like the number one to the number one,
pick the number two? And why did they do this?
And he turned out to be a bus Yeah, I
can't believe you're gonna live on that hill. Go ahead,
you'd stick up? Hey, Arnie, what what what do you
think about the Sam Donald whenever he was coming out
of the draft. What do you think because James, because

(35:19):
I was wrong doesn't mean neural out to be wrong,
not for sure. Gosh, I'm gonna I'm gonna blow my
brains completely out before the show is over one of
these days, all right, when we kind of I say
that in jest. When we come back to the Geico
Fox Sports Radio studios, let's go in on some of
those arguments about who should go where, what players should
go ahead of the other. That's next with Arnie and
Plank right here on Fox Sports Radio. It's Arni in

(35:43):
Plank on Fox Sports Radio eight seven seven ninety nine
on Fox eight seven seven six three six nine. If
you want to jump in on Twitter, he's at stinking genius.
Want him at Plank Show. We'll get to those coming
up in just a bit, and of course great job
by the crew pushing through tonight, staying socially distant and

(36:03):
also bringing you all the news. Bobo on the Wheels
of Steel, great tunes tonight, lead a lap, producing the show,
getting us Matt Verderram and of course Steve Sager on updates.
All right, um, are you buying any of this buzz
that some people are starting to build that you would
take two over Joe Burrow right now? Well, the Dolphins

(36:24):
wanted to trade up allegedly with Cincinnati to get that
number one pick. I I didn't wasn't necessarily sold that
it was gonna be for Joe Burrow. I thought it
was gonna be for Tua, because you know, maybe he
has more upside. And obviously people are starting the question
Joe Burrow, So, um, nothing puts it past me that
they wouldn't take two over over Joe Burrow while you

(36:45):
convinced the other way around. Now, I heard something earlier
this week on on Colins Show, and it really kind
of caught my attention, and it's what it's what we're doing.
Let me give you a for instance. I'm obviously very
all in on the Derek Carr is at as the
Raiders quarterback debate, right, what's that? Don't be so all in?
But go ahead? Why not? Because I think Marian is

(37:08):
gonna start by the time you guys gon start one
in three. But that's beside the point when when what's
their schedule look like? So who they played in week one?
And we three? Right exactly? You make a lot of
sense right now. But anyway, I'm all in on this
because I think people look at it and here a
few things. You go, oh, the Raiders want to move on. Well,
they don't realize that John grew in the last time
he drafted a quarterback in the first round was hold on,

(37:29):
let me never. And it's just it's ridiculous to talk about.
So I think sometimes it becomes very negative at all.
He sucks, he stinks, look at this percentage and and
and and blah blah, and everyone finds a way to
beat someone down except saying, uh, maybe it's gonna work
out okay for both sides. For instance, whenever we get
into these debates about two of versus Burrow Arnie, it's

(37:52):
suddenly become very detrimental to one. So I mean you
even said it, what what are you starting to hear
right now people doubting Burrow out, which is fine. I
don't think there's a flawless candidate out there for for all,
a flawless prospect if I can speak out there. But
it happens right people start bashing one side, it's not
I guess what they'll say as well, the guy had

(38:13):
so many receivers they were top not She had plenty
of time. He didn't have to throw the ball accurately
deep down field. He just had to get it near
the receiver and they were going to catch it, unlike Two,
who probably has a lot more touch and accuracy. So
I mean that's that's one way of spinning. And if
if you're a to a fan, do you realize that
two is going to have two of his receivers go

(38:35):
in the first round too, And he also had a
first round running back two years ago, And it just
seemed like I thought that LSU was more loaded offensively.
Well I'm wrong about that. You're telling me Henry Ruggs
and Jerry G. Maunt of fact, they'll be probably taking
ahead of the LSU wide receiver exactly. So I guess
my point is you don't have to beat one side

(38:58):
down you can stop and say, hey, both the both
pretty good's gonna be good quarterback. So with that in mind,
I heard this on on Colin show this week. He
had Ryan Rissilo on the Ryan Rissilo Podcast, and here's
what he had to say. Because it really aren't in
the most eloquent way possible, it's spoke to me. I'm
afraid that on your path to to a acceptance in campaigning,

(39:18):
you've decided to trash the opponent. Here's a weird concept.
I think you can like both guys, but I don't
think you need to downgrade Burrow to upgrade to because
if they were both healthy, I'd agree I take to
A but Burrow the completion percentage, which is chucks down
the field. Yeah, and so are. I think that's where

(39:40):
we get. Bottom line here is that you find a
situation where I don't know, um maybe maybe just maybe
someone is so all in on wanting to A to
be the guy that they start destroying Joe Burrow or
vice versa. They can both end up having really nice
and a fell careers. One doesn't have to be over

(40:03):
the top excited over one and then cut down the
other one. I mean, they can both have really good,
great NFL careers if necessary, And the only thing I mean,
if you you don't have to look far for negatives
for tour. You just look at all the injuries and
that that's enough red flags for a lot of people
out there. I think the health is the biggest red
flag period right for TWA, there's there's the number one

(40:27):
and then the red flag for Joe Burrow. How many
years did he do it in college? One? So he
had an okay junior year, but he blew up a
senior year and he did it in Joe Brady's offense.
How different will that be? You can beat him down
either way, but they could both still end up being
very good. I still think Burrow goes number one. We'll
talk about them more next hour with Arni and Plank
right here on Fox Sports Radio Our two from the

(40:50):
Guy Go Fox Sports Radio Studios. Fifteen minutes could save
you fifteen percent or more on car insurance. All you
have to do is visit Guy coo dot com for
a re rate quote. Yeah, we understand tonight has been
a pretty heavy night with the extension. What what are
we now? And may for the A. Thanks Arnie, it's yes.

(41:12):
It's going to be into about May because there's only
what thirty days half September, April, June, and November. That's
the other way, remember the calendar, so until about May.
But we're gonna have some fun tonight. We know there's
bigger issues, but we're gonna talk NFL Draft, We're gonna
talk how the seasons may play out, talk a little baseball,
and obviously and everything we do Aarnie, we're grateful and

(41:32):
thankful for those in the front line fighting this at
our hospitals, our emergency rooms, in our community, at our
food banks. This is obviously time where we can bring
out the absolute best in people, and I think we'll
continue to do so, don't you amen to that? Absolutely,
especially the first responders, the doctors, Like you said, the nurses,
I don't know where it would be without them going
to work every day and just helping out the sick

(41:54):
and just helping us all out. So um, amen to you,
no doubt about that. Real quick before we get into
a little bit more on the NFL draft and tweet
tweet the tweets have been really good tonight. Are you
watching any of the eye racing that they're doing on
Fox have you caught any of this. I've I've always
cooked very very little, and I know they had the Uh,

(42:18):
what is it the what do you call the video
game one where um Vick is playing and stuff like that.
Is that what you're talking You're talking about the car.
I'm talking about the car racing ipilotized, not the Madden.
Not the Madden. Not the Madden. Yeah, I'm trying to
catch a little bit of it. Um. I And I
was watching Arizona earlier today played replayed the Kentucky game.
But I'm not getting into all of that stuff, just

(42:40):
a little bit here and there. Why did you get
into it? Yes, yes, I got into that, and I
got into the Madden today as well too. I will
say the way in which they're broadcasting these uh, it's
just it's fantastic, Arnie. I mean from the play by
play in the NASCAR. Honestly, no fince to the Fox side,
because I thought it was cool what Fox did with

(43:01):
the like the in home camera watching Matt Leinert celebrate things.
You know, it's truly as if you're sitting at home
playing the game. It's really well done. But the NASCAR
legit it looked if you just flipped by the channel
and you weren't necessarily a die hard NASCAR fan, I
think I would have a hard time convincing you that
it's not real. That's how amazing the graphics are and

(43:23):
how all in they are right now with the broadcast
of it. So while we don't have oh can you
are you sure about that? I have the lines. I'm
gonna be giving you a couple of picks when my
pick segments, well, you know what it's. It's kind of
wild because it might actually be the future, because it
could end up being safer on it. Like I'm taking

(43:44):
the Boston Celtics plus eighteen and a half points against
Brooklyn in the NBA two K League. That's out there.
That's exactly what it is. That's exactly what it is.
I like it. And they have they have handball in Belarus.
You can bet on two. I got some picks there
handball in Belarus. Have you got to the Japanese baseball

(44:06):
league that I saw where they're wearing masks? Yet I
got the basketball simulation. I've got some Belarus soccer I
believe it is, and um some other soccer I don't
even know what country that's from. All right, let's hit
some tweets and shall we at Ralph is the man
who I think. I think we got a little Twitter
beef going on because I think Shady Shawn feels like

(44:28):
Ralph is the man. Is Steve de Sager's burner at
I brought that up yesterday straight outset. It wasn't him,
but I don't know if I believe him. Okay, all right, Well,
Ralph asks a very fair question based on our first segment, says,
you guys like the idea of bringing back sports in
one city like Vegas. Of course we talked about Clay
Traviss theory. I don't think it would work for any

(44:49):
other sport than the NBA, would it? And I don't
even know if it would work facility facility wise there,
But I love the idea. I love at least that
we can have a conversation. You just want to do
it too. If that's if they play in front of
no fans, to have it invantage absolutely absolutely, Yeah, if
we get to the point to where this works. And

(45:09):
on April, where as you've and I love it, glass
half full of said, all right, we're fine. Maybe we
have to have fans it every other seat maybe we
have to kind of change the way in which the
arenas are are engineered from a traffic perspective. And I
don't mean in grass or egress, I mean actually inside
the arena. I don't know, but if we're going fan lists,

(45:32):
that might be an interesting way to work. Look at it,
and it's a great read that that Clay put up
an out kicked the coverage. By the way, am I
overstating this the first NBA game back? Let's just assume
it's the NBA. Pick a team, Lakers and whoever, say
it's Boston. No, say Lakers and Golden State. Doesn't make
a difference. Um, does that become the most watched game

(45:53):
on television and NBA history? Don't be the ratings through
the roof for something like that or or what. I
don't know absolutely what you think especially better than the
NBA Finals playoffs. I don't know if it'll go that far,
but it'll be pretty I wonder what the promotion would
be like, I mean, if you I mean think about it,

(46:15):
I mean how much time will you have to promote it?
I mean, is it? It's gonna be a while, right,
because I guess these guys are gonna I guess they're
sitting around doing the same thing I am, which is
going to the snack chow or every single five seconds
to see if anything is moved. Because the way people
are acting is if once they start playing and get
their their legs are just gonna start breaking in, their
arms are gonna fall off. I mean, you would think

(46:35):
that these guys are just lazing around during their break.
But okay, so I guess we're gonna need some time
to have a mini training camp before we get going.
But aren't the build up to it would be pretty
fantastic in our over analyzation of it and then debating
whether or not they've got the playoff system right. Yeah. Man,
there's gonna be some sick numbers whenever that comes out.
TV wise, there's a good point by Eric from Cincinnati.

(46:58):
Eric writes, if you're a g him, you get a
get out of jail free card on injury issues because
you can say, hey, our doctors never knew anything that
the running back was missing his big toes. I mean
that we were mentioning earlier about how the NFL is saying, listen,
the draft is going on April quick, complaining about it.
It's happening and then lo and behold. If if you

(47:19):
miss on a draft pick because of an injury, I
wonder will the NFL will they have him make good
for you when you get a compensatory pick. If there
was something that maybe you find later in their medical
I don't know, but give out the other way we do,
not giving your medical tests before they're getting drafted anyway,
So whatever does it make are you being serious right now? Well?

(47:41):
What what do you if they come in afterwards you're
making the pick anyway, they're gonna come on in. What
are you gonna say, Well, we found out that uh
he's uh, you know, had the broken like you can
see the charts. But it's not like keep bringing ten guys.
We want to start giving him physical as. You can't
do that, Yeah, you do. That's exactly what you do.
Whenever they come in for their individual meetings, they went
through the ring. If you have a first round pick,

(48:03):
how many guys? How many guys did you think you
were bringing in for crying out lout giving physicals too,
especially in the second round, third round, fourth round. What's
what's wrong with you guys out there? You're you're not
giving physicals to everybody out there that you're bringing on in, Arenie,
are you being serious right now? Yeah? But absolutely what
happens the first picks, but you're not doing it for

(48:24):
rounds two, three, four or five, six seven. Don't give
them in out just because then what are you gonna
throw another doctor under the buff saying, wow, the other
doctor told us he was okay, So the other doctor
must be a moron? Right, is that what you're telling me? Well,
everyone has their own team doctors. And for instance, like,
are you being serious right now? You're not being totally

(48:44):
being serious? You have it out because another doctor says
he's healthy and then he goes, well, look at is
he had two broken legs? The other doctor didn't pick up?
Don't be that's crazy? Yeah? Why then why doesn't Then
why isn't there just one universal doctor, Arnie? Why don't
teams just every team have their own doctor? Then are
you listening to it would be not one doctor be

(49:05):
pretty busy talking, talking and doing physicals on a lot
of people. Then aren't he every every time you go
visit a team, they put you through the ring or
injury wise? I mean, and I know that a lot
of don't make me bring out the bell of stupidity
for you like I did for Torres last night. Well,
I think you need to kind of break out the
mirror and look at it for this one. I mean,

(49:28):
hold on, wait, Paul, wait, where in the why do
you have a cat bill? It stuck stupella stupidity. I'm
thinking about bringing it back. But what don't please because
this is on the radio and it doesn't sound good.
That sounds very high pitch, and that's hurting my ears.
I'm gonna come to Vermont and hurt you. But why

(49:49):
do you have that? But like and what it was?
It was? I used to do something called the Bell
of stupidity and whenever somebody would call in and say
something stupid or a cold would say something stupid or
like a pretty its are like you, I just ring
the bell like that and just let him keep going.
How about we have like the lies of something like

(50:10):
what we know you are? We know you're gonna tell
a lot, so let me just pose this to you.
Aren't go ahead? When when the Raider I got to
go back to the Raiders with Roger. We can use
Michael Brocker's Okay, when Michael Brocker's signed with the Ravens,
they avoided the deal and then he ended up resigning
with the Rams. So does that mean the the Ravens

(50:32):
doctor is dumber than the Rams doctor or or what
I mean? Do you do you not understand that every
team has the own doctors and put the guys. I
understand that, but I mean, look, I don't know we're
giving one case here. You're gonna tell me that, Okay,
we took to uh, but we didn't know he was
hurt that bad, and this team doctor says he wasn't
hurt that bad. You've done your due diligence on this.
There's already files on this, don't. I mean you've also

(50:55):
seen what he looks like after he's come back from
the injury. You have taken where didn't Instagram video? You
got draft a guy based on a one minute Instagram
video and you're gonna dog these guys for the way
they do their job. You're gonna you're gonna draft the
guy on a one minute Instagram video. Arnie, I think
I'm gonna have to quit my job and go become
a scout for the NFL. I have if they get

(51:16):
do their jobs, I guess they do need me, so
wait again, my head is going to explode. You're willing
to go ahead? Oh? Yeah, two is fine? He can play.
I saw it on instage looking pretty good. You didn't
think so? Yeah the thirties, I could look like I'm
moving pretty good in an edited video for you and
show you highlight my gosh ring the bell for Arnie.

(51:38):
This is I'm I'm embarrassed for you. All right, Let's
say a couple of the other tweets you get at
stinking Genius one is the best way to get in
touch with us or at playing show or at Fox
Sports Radio. This is a good one from Robert, who writes, personally,
I don't trust the media or the so called experts
when it comes to quarterbacks in general. These are the
same people who said Lamar Jackson couldn't make it? Are

(51:59):
Mitchell Abiski was rated right where Deshaun Watson was and
under evaluated Mahomes but loved Josh Rosen. Yeah, how could
you agree? Arnie? I agree with him what he's bringing
up absolutely, But you you were one of those that
thought Josh Rosen was going to be a superstar. Well
I got that one wrong, Yes I did. Did you

(52:21):
all know that Mahomes was that great? No, I don't
think anybody knew there's Oh wait, hold on, we I'm
sure we can find the one guy on Twitter because
draft guys love to tell you how high they had
someone rated whenever they hit. So yeah, I'm sure someone
out there did. Um, this is good at all. Right,
there has to be documented proof of Arnie attempting to

(52:42):
do five hundred sit ups. It will be the most uh,
it will be the medical report when he's rushed to
the hospital. Now I get I don't think that it
would be that bad. Arnie actually crushes it in our
workouts and orange theory from what I've understood. Now, you
can still actually go to the gym. Your gyms are
still open. Our gyms are not open. So we'll have
to do this like a prison workout like I used
to do. So stuff like that. Okay, I wanted to

(53:05):
you know, youlaid stuff. Get like a bar and like
a couple of drugs of water to weigh it down,
and you know, do some Rocky gonna be out running
around him hit hit some meat, you know, stuff like that. Um,
and then what one more here real quick? And this
is from I Jedi, who is just very anti two.
Who writes what is it with t A, he's not

(53:26):
that good. He didn't play anyone in college a bunch
of D two schools. That's a man. Yeah, that's a
that's a man after my own heart whenever comes to
crush the SEC. But come on, bro, I mean he
did play in the in the SEC. He played in
the best conference in college football period. Um. With that said,

(53:48):
if you want a dog to a I wouldn't dog
him saying, oh, he hasn't played anyone, I would dog
him saying what he can't stay healthy. He's been hurt
in two of the seasons in which he was the
full time starter. Right. He came in as a freshman
in what the second half of the Clemson game, and
as he started the next year, he ends up getting
hurt in the national or in the SEC championship game.

(54:08):
Now again, he had a great season, a Heisman Trophy
season until that point, but has has the ankle injury
and then he I mean ran rough shot over my Sooners,
but you could tell he wasn't a hundred percent. He
gets Clemson and they made him look foolish, and he
gets dinged up during his uh third year as a
starter quote unquote, So Arnie, I think if you want
a dog to uh, you can't dog him based on
who he played or where he played. I think you

(54:30):
dog and based on the injury report more than anything else. Right,
And you know what those injuries does that make him
injury prone? Maybe there were just some good shots. It's
not like it's every little touch on this guy and
he's going down. He took some pretty good shots. I
think still think he's a pretty tough guy. I just
think he's a little bit unlucky. Well, when we come
back to the guy, go Fox Sports Radio Studios. Let's

(54:50):
reset where we might end up seeing some of the
biggest names still on the free agent market end up.
And oh, by the way, just how angry our general
managers that the NFL Draft will still happen. Will give
you the low down next with Arnie and Plank on
Fox Sports Radio. I'll defend Arnie in moments Geico, Fox

(55:12):
Sports Radio Studios. But first, one of your something amazing
discover matches all the cash back you earn at the
end of your first year automatically with no limit to
how much, will match millions of people a year getting
their cash back matched, Discover cash back match. What are
you waiting for? Learn more discover dot com slash cash
back match. Uh. I was reading during the break in

(55:33):
Peter King's Football Morning in America, which I'm reading at
eleven o'clock at night, which is awesome. But to your point,
he writes, the first two or three rounds shouldn't be
upset all that much because of the scouting changes. The
top one hundred players were poked and prodded normally for
seven months of the college preseason, regular season, bowl season,

(55:55):
and combine season before everything shut down. But my point,
the later rounds that could see teams trying to hit
the safe singles instead of the risky triples and bite
the way. That's where the Patriots have succeeded throughout the years.
So to your point to where it shouldn't affect too

(56:16):
terribly much because you already know most about these guys. Hey,
when we're talking about the first three rounds, aren't your
dead on from that perspective? Why why are they gonna
go for singles and not the triple at the later rounds?
How is that going to affect that? Why would they
do that? Maybe if it was a guy that had
had a couple of character issues. Maybe if it was
someone to where I don't know, maybe one of their
scouts saw a bad game, maybe he's had an injury past. Uh,

(56:41):
maybe he played it. For instance, there's the kid, I
think it's Jeremy Chin, the safety out of Southern Illinois.
Maybe they're worried about the level of competition he played
and we didn't get a chance to sit and talk
to him. So I think instead of maybe where you
might take it on a guy that appears to have
a higher ceiling, you might go ahead and just try
to lay down that bunt and advanced the runner, as

(57:02):
opposed to go ahead and try to swing and move
him over without risking the devil play. I mean, I
don't know about that, but if if that happens, there'll
be some pretty good talent dropping out in the draft
and somebody's going to scoop them up. Yeah. Hey, you know,
shady Sewan brings up a good point because I'm curious.
Sean writes, Arnie's going to be an NFL referee and

(57:24):
a scout and a general manager. So are you just
basically going to do like every single job on a
Sunday and Monday night. You know why. I was seriously,
why would it hurt um then to call somebody like
you or somebody like me and say, hey, I noticed
you watch every game from dawn to dusk. Can we
talk to you about a few things? I mean, my goodness,
what's wrong with that? I mean, you watch just about

(57:45):
every game? You think? You know? You think there's scouts
are sitting them all day Saturday from the beginning to
end watching every game? Are they going to one particular
game to scout one or two guys? You know what
I'm saying? Well, I mean we we all understand how
deep the scout outing roster is for each team, right,
I mean they've got a lot of guys all over
the place, and so yeah, they I don't think that

(58:08):
they get out to as many Carbondale, Illinois state games
as they might want to, Um, but I think they
see all the big games. I think they see many
of the same matchups. Are they watching everything? It's almost impossible,
isn't it to watch every single game anymore? You have opportunities,
but it's almost impossible. You have to be in your
home and flipping around the channels and watching tape and

(58:29):
re going over games and and stuff like that, and
you know, you know, trying to find the exact player
you want and then rewatching that game and see what
that player does. Typical NFL team has about, uh, what's
this number here? Twelve scouts and then they have a
handful of NFL scouts as well too, So in other words,
you have the college scouts and then you have the

(58:49):
NFL scouts. NFL scouts are looking around thinking, Okay, what
free agents can we go get or what guy might
we want to trade for? So it's a it's got
to be a challenge, right to all the things that
you want. Are these these twelve scoults you're talking about
on the team plus the other twelve that's all these
twenty scoults you're talking about. Are they the same ones
that said, yo, yeah, JaMarcus Russell, you've got to take

(59:10):
him number one? Yeah? Yeah, oh yeah, yeahs then give
me some JaMarcus. Is that the same one you're talking about? Yeah?
I just want to make sure, just want to make sure.
So do you just want to make sure? Do you
want to live in a world where all we do
is point out your mistakes and your faults all the time.
We look at that world now, I just wonder that's

(59:31):
the world I live in. Why, I mean, why would
you not say that they did a pretty good job
on X or Y player. Why you gotta go back
to JaMarcus And by the way, you can go a
lot more recent on a fun pick that failed besides
JaMarcus Russell if you want as well, do it number
one overall. But I just I've never it's it's not
an easy gig, and we try to sit here and

(59:52):
because obviously it's our job, we get to sit here
in second guess and question it. But I mean, I'd
love to have seen the Raiders pull the trigger on
Calvin john To that year than jam Marcus ruscal But hey,
guess what it didn't happen, I would have I'd be
curious to know, now, aren'tie? Given the information that we
have on heck, I don't even know what what the
date is today, But given the information we have on

(01:00:13):
March twenty nine of two thousand and twenty, if I
were to go back and the two thousand and fifteen
NFL draft right and someone would have passed on either
Jamis Winston or Marcus Mariota in the first two picks,
how dumb we would have called them, and how ridiculous

(01:00:35):
that they would have been viewed in the media. But
if you would have ended up taking say, I don't know,
maybe in a Marii Cooper who's had an okay career.
Maybe uh, how I don't want to go too deep here,
but maybe Byron Jones who just signed a big deal.
If you would have taken the number one, we would
have laughed them out of the room. But they both
have ended up having better careers right now than Jamis
or Marcus have had. So it's such a it's such

(01:00:57):
an in exact science. Anyway, I don't know why anyone's
can anything about not having as much time as you
typically do to truly scout everyone. Or if you took
Todd Gurley, what are you thinking that right? Exactly exactly
you look at that top ten overall Mariota Fowler, I mean,
my goodness, But it's just at that time though, at

(01:01:18):
that time leading into the fifteen draft, we thought which
and Mariota one to slam dunk? You have your franchise quarterback.
And it wasn't just a couple of scouts sitting in
a room. It was everywhere next season, you can't go
wrong with either golf or wins. Remember the Rams, I
think what the Eagles moved up to number two, and
then the Rams went with the overall the top grip

(01:01:38):
to go up to number one, and they're like, whichever
one we get, we'll be happy with. They end up
getting Carson Wentz because golf goes number one. I mean,
we we could do this all day long, but it's
just we see teams that make mistakes when we all
thought they were slam dunks heading into the draft, aren'ty.
It happens, make mistakes, but costing a millions and millions
of dollars and put him in behind me, Paul. If

(01:02:00):
they make the wrong pick, that's for sure. But I
don't think we can sit here and act like that
we didn't think it was a good pick at the time,
or we didn't think they were dumb, all right, We
didn't think that it was a brilliant pick at the time.
Did you think it was ridiculous to take win Center
Mariota one or two? No, none of us did at
the time, And I can now absolutely you can, because
I don't think there's any tape left of that shouldn't

(01:02:20):
take a Joey posta uh sooner, Mike, right, the NFL
players never negotiated the power of the commissioner. Statements like
Goodell made don't challenge excuse me. Statements like Goodell made
don't challenge him shows what a trash human being he is.
The owner should hypothetically clip his um man area. So,

(01:02:43):
in other words, what Mike saying is, you've got a
commissioner that's a little drunk on power right now and
has too much power in order to try to put
a gag order right He's like, listen, quick complaining about this.
This is a damn gag order right now. We're not
gonna do this in the media right now. I think
that I think the commissioners should have just said the
draft goes on and then let the team owners worry

(01:03:04):
about their own general managers. It's like, hey, pipe down
and do the best you could do. Stop complaining. Everybody's
in the same situation, so just get at it instead
of complaining. Watch more tape and figure out who you're
gonna take for crying out loud. Um And let's see,
there was one more here that I wanted to get to.
This question is one that's interesting. Johnny be Good asks, Okay,

(01:03:25):
here's a good here's a good one. Who would you
rather have as your quarterback? Arn'tie? You have one year
of Kyler Murray that you can look at, or the
unknown of a twa Tongua volo? Which way would you
want to go with your starting quarterback? Right now? To? Uh?
You think you being serious? Right now? Of course? What
do you think I'm joking? Dude? Was rock Lain? Again?
I know Robert Griffin the third one rookie of the year,

(01:03:47):
but in one Rookie of the year last year, I mean,
he looked like he was pretty good quarterback and did
a pretty nice job in a acclimating himself to the NFL,
and by the way, has never really had an injury history.
So will take the over that tool, will take the
Dolphins to the super Bowl in his first five years?
All right? When we come back to the guy will

(01:04:10):
be drug tested from there. I like the comfience, though,
I like the confidence. He's not gonna be there at five,
So they're gonna have to move up and get him,
aren't they. Someone's gonna trade in front of him to
go get him. Are you sure about that? Do you
think you getting him dropping to five. You don't think
anyone's gonna try to make him move in front of
him to go get him. You think they might have
to move up to number two, and I think the

(01:04:30):
Dolphins will move up just to make sure. But I
think the Dolphins are gonna get him anyway possible, number five,
number three, or wherever. But I don't think everybody's gonna
swoop up and get him. I can't wait until like
week six whenever you want him benched and cut because
he can't. He can't stay on the field. It's horrible.
I think he's I think he's gonna be a great
NFL player. It's just he's gotta stay healthy. He's got

(01:04:53):
to be able to stay on the field. So when
we come back to the guy who Fox Sports Radio studios,
let me pay this off. How are some general managers
feeling about the draft continuing? And oh yeah, we've got
to dive into what the NBA season might look like.
We'll do it next with Arnie and Plank on Fox
Sports Radio. But first, Steve to sake with everything that's
kind of trying to go on in the world of sports. Well,
a couple of things on items you said earlier this hour,

(01:05:15):
and then two updates from last night. First off about
I agree with you, the ratings should be big once
we get actual sports, maybe this summer or whatever. And
I looked up after nine eleven, Remember that was only
about a one week hiatus. But when baseball returned, it
said it was a Monday night and the cable ratings
for baseball were up that night, and the attendance was
down the first few days as things returned. But as

(01:05:38):
far as TV, which is what you were talking about
up and uh, as far as the pictures this weekend
of Asian baseball players at the plate wearing the medical masks,
those were in the Korean Baseball Association scrimmages that are
going on this weekend. There's another one going on right
now and it will be live streamed, and I bet
they get some sort of rating in Korea for that

(01:05:58):
as well. Yeah, Hiwan's baseball league they say, is going
to start next month, but we're a long ways off
from Major League Baseball starting here. As far as the
updates last night, we mentioned on Artie Show that Larry
David of Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm Fame has started
a go fund me page for the caddies that are
out of work now at Riviera country Club in l A,
which is the same country club located down Sunset Boulevard

(01:06:21):
from Artie's alma mater, his high school. Uh not that.
Were you a caddy at Riviera? Certainly not a member
at Riviera? No? No, sure, yeah, you're better than everyone
else anyway. The goal was to raise a hundred fifty
thousand dollars for the group. Do you go. Fund me
page has been up eight days. They've raised nearly a

(01:06:42):
hundred twenty five thousand dollars on only a hundred forty donors,
So congratulations so far. Also, as far as the l
A RAMS new stadium, the s I report last night
that an iron worker tested positive for COVID nineteen. Today's
update is that construction continues and that here she is
said to be receiving care in recovering. The workers area
was outside the building, assisting with pre assembly of materials.

(01:07:05):
The company overseeing the RAMS projects. As the worker in
question never entered the new building or any common spaces.
Stricter work rules had been in place on paper. The
stadium in Inglewood due to open in late July. The
Chargers will be sharing this SOFI stadium with the Rams.
Construction work is exempt from stay at home orders. The
Rams new place reportedly will still host the Super Bowl
after one season. Dodger Stadiums hundred million dollar renovations in

(01:07:29):
the outfield are also continuing. A worker at the construction
side of the Raiders new stadium tested positive this week
for COVID nineteen. The report was no others there have
felt ill. Finishing work continues in Las Vegas, with over
a thousand workers on site, according to Fox five in Vegas.
Former Washington Huskies football coach Jim Lambright passed away at
the age of seventy seven. He was a national title

(01:07:50):
assistance in and as head coach, shared a Pac Ten
title in The Detroit Lions will sign wide receiver Geronimo
Allison X of Green Bay. Allison back in and twenty
receptions in just five games, but missed most of that
season due to injuries. Defensive back Ronald Darby agreed to
a one year deal with the Redskins. He was the

(01:08:10):
second rounder of the Bills in Among the many free
agents still available in the NFL, running back Davante Freeman,
tight end de Laney Walker tackle, Jason Peters still out there,
pass rushers Jadeveon Clowney and Everson Griffin as well, and
finally they are right now on FS one repeating tonight's
Madden Invitational. It aired with Chris Myers as the co

(01:08:31):
host of the over two hour event. Among the guys
playing the game, where Matt Leinert a'm on Green who
was out early, Juju Smith, Schuster, t J houshman Zada,
and Tonio Crimarti Orlando Scandrick all competing against each other
in Madden the Video Game remotely. I will say again
as I mentioned last hour, not to give anything away,
but Michael Vick does make the final of the Madden

(01:08:53):
Invitational tonight, guys, back to you. Oh no, the Sager
spoiler alert next time. I'm kidding, I've been. I will say,
I think my favorite part so far and just watching
this is that they tried to start one game and
the internet disconnected on one of the games, so they
just had the little spinning thing waiting for the game

(01:09:14):
to start. So well done by the way on the
broadcast crew, uh In in covering all the virtual races
that we've done today and the virtual coverage of the
Madden lead. Play you Pong on the air. People can
watch that. Let's do it. Do you still have anything
that we could play pong on? Probably I used to
be the king of television. That was the best in television.

(01:09:35):
You realize we're going back almost forty years. Well, he's
probably he's probably still got his vhs of the metal.
So you can just play it on that as we
come to you live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios.
It is easy to say or more on car insurance
with Geico. You can go to Geico dot com or
call seven Otto. The only hard part is figuring out

(01:09:55):
which way is easier. So you watch seven Arizona to
Kentucky today, CBS Sports Network on that or was, yeah,
well I just watched the overtime. I was like, let's
just get to the good part. We didn't even have
a field goal in overtime. We saw it. We I
don't remember us shooting so many more foul shots than Kentucky.
If it was the other way around, I'd be complaining

(01:10:16):
to this day. Oh, the revs gave it to him.
The revs gave it to him. But but I'll take it.
There's only two shots made in the whole overtime period.
But we dominated. We deserved that one. I'll never forget.
I'll never forget that was. That was a crazy final
four that year because Minnesota went to the Final four
that season and they ended up having to kind of

(01:10:39):
play the old Yeah, you know, we weren't really there
because they got into trouble. But the final four was
North Carolina, Arizona and then Minnesota and Kentucky in the
final four. I was out there. I had a good time.
I did really when we went to the finals. I
made my wife come down from Chicago so she could
watch the game with me. We could be there when
they won. I thought she was gonna jig people. We

(01:11:00):
did it, we would it was. I'll never forget. It
was a great time. Was that your last national championship?
H Yeah, we beat Duke Um. Yeah, that nineties seven.
But I'll tell you why I'm kind of stuck on
this Minnesota team. But that Minnesota team, if I'm not mistaken,
that ninety seven Minnesota had Sam Jacobson. Yeah he was young,

(01:11:24):
but that team was loaded and I got a chance
to see them play, aren'tie Because I was covering Tulsa
at the time, and they played their first round games
in Kansas City. Shows you how long ago it was.
They played in Kemper Arena. Tulsa was the five seed,
and they played a team called Boston You in the
first round, and everybody was talking about this guy from

(01:11:45):
Boston University called Tunji Awa Jobi. And I don't know why.
That's what now thirty years ago and for some reason,
it's still stuck in my mind, this dude from Boston
you who finished with like five points and they lost
by twenty nine. Stupid March Madden is being stuck in
my head for some random player some thirty years later.
What what region did you guys come out of the West?

(01:12:07):
Now that was Kentucky. Yeah, we were we we had
to beat three number one seeds. So I don't remember
what what region we had to come out of. Oh,
you came out of the Southeast region. Okay, you were
the four seed. Do you remember the path? Okay? Did
we wait? Wait? Did we did? We beat South Alabama
very good in we were we were down by seven

(01:12:28):
or nine lait in that game. We almost saw us
in the first round of that game, I remember, But
in the second round number the second Okay, College of
Charleston upset in Maryland, then you guys beat them by four,
and then in the regional semifinals you knocked off Kansas
before beating Providence. Was that Was that a Rick Pattino

(01:12:48):
Providence team in nineties seven or was that a little
later than that? Anyway, you beat Providence in the Elite
eight to go to the final. Coach of Kentucky. Oh yeah, no, kid, right,
he was an Tucky. That wasn't the So that wasn't
his Billy Donovan Delray Brooks team of the early nineties
that ended up making their run. Yeah, congratulations on. Did
you celebrate it again? Or was it? I was still

(01:13:10):
nervous we were gonna lose it, so like I had
to turn it off. You see Brady's tweet today, Brady
was Brady was watching the three game the Fox put
Big Fox put it on today and He's like, I'm
nervous watching this right now. I'll never forget the glee
you had midway through the third quarter of that game
when it looked to be O V E. R over

(01:13:31):
and then out of nowhere came the Patriots and they
botched a couple two point plays as well. Too, when
they didn't even have to go for two. I was
blown away by that. Now, to wrap this segment up,
when we're not waxing nostalgically about the time when college
basketball was here and we loved it from the Geico
Fox Sports radio studios aren't and playing how mad Our

(01:13:52):
general managers right now? Well, Peter King, uh final Time
All References article tonight said that Roger Goodell has to
realize and know how angry football team personnels are with
him right now. Some were unhappy about the draft. Some
were unhappy about Goodell's words. The quote public discussions of
issues related to the draft serves no useful purposes, YadA, YadA, YadA.

(01:14:17):
But um, apparently one prominent general manager one problem. Maybe
I should rephrase that. One prominent NFL person, Peter King
texted and said, why on earth would you ever threaten
an opinion? The NFL person responded with, and I quote,
whatever happened to freedom of speech? Arnie? Whenever you have

(01:14:42):
that kind of response from an NFL person. I mean,
this isn't a dictatorship right now, but I think there's
gonna be some really angry people over the next few
days that are gonna find ways through sources or in
some way, shape or form to kind of undercut an
undermine this threat by Roger Goodell. Don't you well, I
think it's ridiculous. First of all, if if the all

(01:15:02):
the owners wanted to push back the draft, do you
not think the draft would be pushed back? Who do
you think Goodell works for? So when when Goodell says no,
there's not going to be any pushback, normal, that's because
that's what the owners want. So if a GM has
a problem, you really should have a problem with your owner,
because if the owners said, if they all got together
and said we need to push this back, it would

(01:15:23):
be pushed back. And they don't want to push back.
That's all. I wonder if you'll get more general managers
that reach out to their owners and say, hey, we
need help here. You need to stand up against this.
That's I know, right. And Goodell can't go out and
change it because then he would look weak in his
whole mindset, in this whole perspective. So just a wild
couple of days whenever it comes to figuring out exactly

(01:15:46):
what is and what isn't going to be the NFL schedule,
and Goodell puts his foot down to uh the disappointment
of many in the scouting world, and says the draft
will go on, speaking our show will go on, and
we'll talk to Steven Sager next with Arnie and Plank
on Fox Sports Radio. It's Arnian Plank on Fox Sports Radio.

(01:16:06):
Could we not wait? Is that proper English? Is there
a chance we might have a shortened or canceled football season?
We'll tell you what one of the biggest names in
college football had to say to kick off next hour.
But right now Arnie and Plank on Fox Sports Radio.
Steve to Seger comes, and as far as I'm concerned,

(01:16:26):
we can't repeat enough what one Chris Plank said on
last Sunday Night show. Marketing campaign, take this social distancing seriously,
or else you're risking our football season. Stay at home now,
be staying at home in September is what I think
we should go with from here to four. You know,
I looked it up. The number of coronavirus cases in
the US. When we mentioned it to Sunday Nights ago,

(01:16:48):
it was three thousand, five hundred. Last Sunday Night it
was thirty five thousand, and tonight it's over a hundred
thirty five thousand. It's gone for three thousand, five hundred
to a hundred almost a hundred forty thousand. Now it
is testing more. But yeah, these are also only the
known cases, so it's hardly like testing is complete. So

(01:17:09):
just take stuff seriously. As we keep saying every Sunday night,
it is not the end of humanity, but it's a
new virus without a vaccine, and it spreads far easier
than the flu. I don't have it in front of me.
I just read it a little while ago. Metal World
Peace said, let me know. If somebody's not taking this seriously,
or or going outside not doing the social distancing, I'll go.

(01:17:31):
I'll go talk to them like I played defense in
the NBA. See that New York something, Yeah, something to
that effect. Of course. Stephon Marbury, in New York Native
was in the news today saying he's made arrangements for
a Chinese supplier to sell millions of medical mass to
New York cheaply. According to the New York Post, he's
the former Knicks guard who became a legend playing in

(01:17:51):
China after thirteen seasons in the NBA. I looked it up,
average nineteen points a game. Here, but the former star
Point guard has a home in Beijing still and talk
to the as in the Brooklyn Borough where he's from.
The Brooklyn Borough says the contact in China has more
mass than they need, so they would deliver two million
per week over a five week span. This is at
least possible. Meanwhile, I see a quote this weekend from

(01:18:14):
a doctor at a Long Island hospital as far as
supplies quote, there's not enough of anything. That pretty much
says it. They you're talking about reusing protective equipment that's
meant for single use, that they had no more ventilators
at their place, that they were using anesthesia machines as ventilators.
They're trying to keep people from congregating. That's the new

(01:18:34):
even at the White House press conference, what you guys
were talking about until at least April. Let's be realistic
when we get back to normal, when we let all
the fans back in the first game, should have nothing
but like nurses, doctors, first bother just packeted them. One
great idea from our She keeps saying that everywhere, by
the way to fet people from congregating. And uh, let's

(01:18:57):
just say that some states are doing better than Florida
as a state. Some some cities have actually put in
their own rules, while the state of Florida is not necessarily,
but New York City to keep people out of the
public parks, they are removing the basketball rims at the
public courts, either even at Rutger Park in Harlem, or
they put wood over. Chicago has done that, but New

(01:19:20):
York City, the government officials have removed over seventeen hundred
basketball rims at public parks. And here in southern California,
I saw a picture at Long Beach at one of
those skate parks with all the cement. They have just
loaded it up with dirts so nobody can use the
skate park. Nothing like a New York outdoor basket with
the chain net. When you make it, it's a good sound.

(01:19:41):
It is. Well. The Madden Invitational aired on FS one tonight.
They're finishing up the re air right now, I can
tell you. In this events co hosted by Chris Myers,
and he was calling play by play, it was Derwin
James and the Chargers against Michael Vick in the final.
Derwin James with the early twenty one nothing lead the
final s or was eighty to sixteen for crying out

(01:20:03):
loud players competing against each other remotely. Yes, eighty to sixteen.
And right now, yeah, it's going to continue. I'm just
telling you that right now. And FS one did carry
virtual NASCAR racing again today. As you mentioned earlier, you're
not the only one who could say to someone else
walking by the TV, hey, they're racing NASCAR, and they

(01:20:25):
would think, oh, I guess everything. Back to because it
looks good. It looks great. In fact, it looks like
the real thing, even to the point where the sun
reflection on the cars as they passed the turns. It's
really incredible. Timmy Hill was today's winner, passing William Byron.
Late Denny Hamlin took last weekends inaugural event, and again
that was watched by over nine hundred thousand people on

(01:20:46):
FS one, the highest rated E sports program in history.
Back to you, thanks a lot to say, you're good stuff, man. Yeah.
And I don't think it's the future. I really don't,
but I do think it's gonna be interesting whenever we
realize just how fun it can be. Whenever every I
mean del Jr. Is racing for goodness sakes, all right, No,
more eye racing talk tonight when we come back to

(01:21:08):
the Guy Go Fox Sports Radio Studios, Let's talk about
the future of college football, the future of the NFL,
and an incredible idea brought up bar Guy Clay Travis
that will go in depth on could one city host
the rest of the NBA season and could that city
be Las Vegas? Plus your tweets calls in a reaction.
Next with Arnie and Plank on Fox Sports Radio. Our

(01:21:29):
two in the books, Our three, Let's go. It's Arnie
and Plank on Fox Sports Radio and Arnie, I made
a egregious air. I made a and I'll be the
first one to go, I'm I have no problem saying
I'm wrong. But when we were, when we were shouting
out the front line workers, I failed to mention our backbone,

(01:21:52):
the truck drivers who are still driving board at a
border coast to coast, guys like our man's or Mike,
So thank you. We appreciate your toilet paper, stay safe.
Did I meation that? Did I meation that we come
to you live from the geticoed Fox Sports Radio Studios
where fifteen minutes could save you. Arnie span your fiftent

(01:22:16):
or more on car insurance. Visit Geico dot com for
a free quote. By the way, I had to do
my homework for my local show. When we watch a
movie that we haven't watched, or we watch it and
then we talked about it. On Monday. The movie was
The sand Lot, which I've not seen all the way through,
so it's the first time I've seen it from beginning
to end. You're killing me smalls. Actually, I did so

(01:22:39):
many people that say that it almost ruined the movie
for me, but um, I remember bits and pieces of
it when I watched it a long time ago. Probably
give it an a minus. Well, I liked it a lot, obviously,
and um I love the whole setting about it. Nineteen
sixty two. Uh, just a different time back then. You
and I are so much alike. When you have enough
people tell you something is great, eventually you just want

(01:23:01):
to turn on and be like, yeah, I didn't think
it was all that good. That's not going to watch
The Tiger King because I don't buy into the garbage
you're selling me on that it's well again, I I'm
not buying into all this garbage right now because when
I make this analogy, Arnie, I don't know if it
will resonate with you. But like those indie bands, those
bands and nobody's ever heard of, then all of a

(01:23:22):
sudden they get famous and everyone's talking about all their
great music. It's kind of I feel like with Joe Exotic.
You know, we we knew Joe Exotic for years. This
is nothing new to us. Everyone acting all surprised by
it and shocked by It's like, Okay, well, welcome to
what we've been talking about for at the very least
last ten years. It seems like Oklahoma. But I would
urge you to at least watch one episode. Aren't what

(01:23:45):
episode they keep up with the people, Yeah, just to
kind of get an idea of the characters that are there,
so you can understand how much of a jam I
saw a tiger truly is um. You know it's not.
He's not the only Joe. We not only have Joe
Exotic in Oklahoma. You know, we have Safari Joe too,
So we've got a lot of different We got an

(01:24:05):
Eskimo Joe, we got Oklahoma Joe's Barbecue, so a lot
of Joe's here that. But so you finally saw the
sand lots, Sam only saw it from beginning to ends.
Crossed that off my list? What's what's next? You know
you need to have Berly go on that list? Another classic.
My millennial co host has never seen slap Shot, so

(01:24:26):
I I may force him to watch that. Wait, you
gotta be careful with that. If he's a millennial, he
might be offended with some Well, yeah, I'm sure he
will be offended. I want to go old school, like
The Fish at Safe Pittsburgh or Fast Break with Gabe Kaplan.
You want to go old school. Slap Shots pretty old school? Yeah,
that's true, But I don't know if you ever saw

(01:24:48):
the Fish at Safe Pittsburgh or or Fast Break. Those
are classics too. I have not, have not but wow, well,
I mean I haven't seen him all the way through
because they're just horrible. But the uh are you? Slapshots
a horrible movie too, But it's fav'sanom Ever. You call
the owner and you tell them to trade you right now,

(01:25:09):
you would trade me right now. Everything everything about that
movie is from the Coaches Show. That all right? Listen,
If I start start talking slap Shot, we're never gonna
get through. So let me hit a couple of tweets here,
real quick, you hit us up at stinking Genius one.
I'm at Plank Show. Paul writes, there's going to be
an NFL season. There are owners whose entire income depends

(01:25:33):
on the team they own. They'll have games if it
means seven on seven. Well, actually, Paul, I think there's
only like three, and one of them, unfortunately, is my owner,
Mark Davis. So please let's get to football. But yeah,
I you you hit a great point last segment, Arnie,
he really did. Or and maybe it was at the
bottom of last hour. If the owners really wanted the

(01:25:56):
draft pushed back, and if they really wanted more time
for their teams, they would get it. This. I mean,
Roger Candell works for the owners. He's not gonna get
combative with the owners. So well, g and and I'm
pretty sure that Jerry Jones or someone would say, hey,
we put it in there, we can shut the bleep up,

(01:26:17):
you know, I mean, just I am guarantee this isn't
Roger Goodell going rogue. I don't think he's not calling
the shots. Roger Goodell is not calling the shots. He's
not saying, hey, we're sticking to the draft that I'm
telling you that's the way, it's got to be Jerry's
calling the shots. And Jerry gets his his posse around
and says, okay, let's keep it the same. And why

(01:26:38):
wouldn't they keep it the same? Of course they would.
They'll get tremendous ratings. It's a good distraction. There's no
reason to go ahead and and move it back. And
you're just gonna have to do it remotely, so you're
not gonna see the kid come down, shake the hand,
put on the hat, all the bologny. Maybe we could
pass on that this year. We don't get to see
the face of the of the guy of the kid

(01:26:58):
from the New York Jets. I go, what big are
you doing? Pretend like he's all disgusted, you know what
I mean. So we won't get any of that. But
well we'll still have a good time. Oh absolutely we will.
And it's gonna be I don't know, Arnie, it's gonna
be different. But I in in what we've seen so far,
I think it's been pretty fine. Now it's nothing about

(01:27:21):
this is fun. I want to make this very clear,
but I think it's been pretty interesting, maybe um entertaining
to see how those within our sports world have found
ways to try to keep things relevant. I mean, Disagers
talked about it tonight. I'm watching Mike Vick played Derwin
James and Madden right now. We we talked about eye racing.

(01:27:42):
I've dug being able to watch some of these old games, though,
My goodness, how can we have footage from that looks
worse than footage from the late eighties when the world
is going on here. But I've I've kind of enjoyed it.
Now we might get very tired of it and want
to get back to your regular games here in a
couple of days. But as it stands right now, I

(01:28:04):
think we've done a pretty good job of trying to
fill the sports boyd during a time when I mean,
let's face it, I've I felt for Aaron Torres last night.
My gosh, I mean, this would be a weekend when
we're talking about teams going to the final four. Alreadie
Sean Miller would be sweating his way to the final four.
So that stinks. But again, I think the creativity that

(01:28:24):
has been implemented, I think it's been pretty incredible to
see what the sports world has adapted. And believe it
or not, we've had a lot of news the last
we had I've lost track of time, to be honest
with I don't even know how it's been two weeks,
three weeks. I mean, with the Bradys signing and the
free agent moves and all the NFL stuff out there,
um and and the stuff with the rumors with the

(01:28:46):
NBA and the NHL, We've had some news going forward.
I'm curious to see what news will get in the
month of April. But we still get a little bit
of here, a little bit of there to keep us going.
We're getting you know, it's kind of wild. We're getting
enough news to where it is what we would have
been talking about, probably for the most part, even with

(01:29:07):
games right now, we'd be sprinkling in some Sweet sixteen
and Elite eight talk. But Arnie, a majority of our
talk show over the last two weeks would have been
Tom Brady going to Tampa Bay. Well, I would have
proud beat you because Arizona would have beaten Oklahoma in
the first round, so I would have you forget that.
I'd be hammering you for a last years on that. Yeah,

(01:29:29):
and it's I mean, I would just be distraught losing
an eight nine game. But no, you're you're not right
that you would have been in a position where Arizona
would have won, but you're right that we would have
been having fun and talking about the matchups. So bottom
line to me, I just I think that it's been interesting.

(01:29:51):
It's been entertaining to see through all of these challenges
in these frustrations, and Anthony writes, yes, those in the
retail industry that are still busting, those on the truckers,
those on the front lines were expected so much, and
in our little fun world, they found a way to
keep us entertained. I'm gonna press with us so far.
I think when we do get everything back, there's gonna
be a few changes, obviously, but one of them I

(01:30:13):
think that a lot of people haven't realized we're probably
gonna have baseball, NBA, and NHL all going on at
the same time in full swing and and and it
usually does, but I think it's gonna be more intense
because we're gonna move back to the NBA and NHL
a little bit. I think baseball is gonna have to
have a lot of day games, especially since they won't
get started the June because they're not gonna want to

(01:30:34):
go up against playoff UM NBA and playoff NHL. Like
take the Red Sox for example. You'll want to be
playing during the day, But do you want to go
up against the Celtics playing at night or the Bruins
playing at home at night or maybe both of them
are playing one at home and went on the way. Um,
you just you don't want to have to deal with
that when it comes to TV ratings. But are you?

(01:30:55):
Are you gonna have an option? I mean, now you
you just you go with a lot of day games.
I don't don't the teams set the times or why
would that's major League Baseball right right? I just know
that's not true. That's not true. It's not true that
major league because like the White so actually start three
games at oh seven or seven eleven or something, so
it's a sale with seven eleven. Um, you know some

(01:31:17):
people are like five after the hour. People make thrown
start times. I believe. Um, let's well, I'll dig into
it a little bit. I don't necessarily know if that's right. Ka.
But but but I'm not gonna sit here and die
on this hill right now because I don't know for sure.
With that in mind, though, I don't think you can
worry about that. I mean, I know you probably want to.
But we're gonna be in a situation, aren't you, where

(01:31:39):
you're gonna be trying to do everything you can to
get every game in right, So can you really worry
about when it's gonna be played. You gotta get it played, period.
You gotta get a play. That's why I said, if
there's gonna be a lot of doubleheaders in Major League Baseball,
I think we're gonna go with the seven inning doubleheader games. Um,
not like nine innies first game, seven and he's the
second game. I think it's gonna be seven and seven.
You get more teen nigs in Um, you've got to

(01:32:02):
do something to shorten it. If there's gonna be a
bunch of doubleheaders. All right, now, speaking of things that
could change, could football as we know it changed completely? Okay,
I'm getting a little bit over dramatic, but could it
not happen earlier this week? Well? Actually, my days are
all messed up. Late last weekend, Kirk curb Street had

(01:32:23):
this to say whenever he was asked about the potential
of football being affected, and not just college football, but
the National Football League as well. I'll be shocked if
we have NFL football this fall, if we have college football,
be so surprised if if that happens, just because, uh,
from everything I understand people that I listened to your

(01:32:47):
twelve eighteen months away from a vaccine. Until you have
a vaccine, I don't know how you can let these
guys go into locker rooms and let stadiums be filled
up to how you can play ball. I just don't
know how you can do with the optics of it. Now. Again,
we're looking very much in the future on that front,
and I don't even know if that's a conversation truly

(01:33:09):
worth having right now. But when a guy that's one
of the bigger names in college football speculates that we're
gonna talk about it, we're gonna go in depth on it.
But I everyone's entitled to their opinion, and maybe this
this helps wake people up a little bit out serious
this is. But I'm not at that level yet. Worst
case scenario, and I don't even know if this is
possible because I've not studied the schedule. But most of

(01:33:32):
the teams, some of them, I mean not all, I
know that, but usually the first three games or the
out of conference games conferences. I mean, if worst comes
to worse, worst case scenario, I can see maybe canceling
the out of conference games and maybe just going with
conference games for whatever reason. I'm not sure why we
would have to do that unless we want to cut

(01:33:53):
that on travel. Um, the virus is still going around.
We need a few extra weeks. But then again, like
I said, not there's some conference games in the first
couple of weeks, um, depending on the conference you're looking at.
But if we can figure that out, maybe that's a
that's a different Maybe that's a scenario that could happen,
But that to me is like the worst case scenario.
Here here, so here is something that I brought up

(01:34:13):
that I was thinking about today. Would Arnie span your
go ahead and just punt on the twenty twenty football season,
both college and pro if it meant his Arizona Wildcats
would win the national championship in oh in two seconds.
Knowing that it could cost us our jobs because there

(01:34:36):
would be a year without football and that revenue, Well,
we'll find other jobs that you know. I'll become an actor.
I really always wanted to be an actor. I've done
some TV and movies. I'll just go be an actor.
I always wanted to be a re enactment actor. You
ever used You know those guys all right, because I
see you locked up abroad and they always look at
some guy and he has to pretend um that he's
robbing things and stuff like that. I'd be a great

(01:34:58):
re enactment actor. Do that. I love that. So Hardy
would punt on the whole season cause many people. But
if Ariz don't want the national Championship to following year
to be worth it, absolutely, let's through it. Oh play
Buyer Sell Match. It's aardi in playing from Fox Sports Radio.
It's already in playing on Fox Sports Radio. I want

(01:35:19):

had one of our locally, we had one of our

(01:35:40):
bits get destroyed because we were like, okay, we only
have like nineteen more days of being quarantined, so we
would do like famous people that were number nineteen and
go down the list. It now we're back up the
thirty two, so kind of go back to famous people
that were thirty two. Trying to stay positive. I will
stay positive. The only thing I can't stay potv on

(01:36:00):
is Michael Vick's chances of coming back against Derwin James
right now, Yeah, seventy three to sixteen, the Seahawks leader
Ravens right now. Okay, So a couple of clarifications here
because I didn't like I said. I didn't disagree, I
just didn't open it was right. Uh, the home team
does set the start time unless it's Sunday night baseball. Yeah.
I was about to say Sunday night Baseball. They could

(01:36:22):
move you for that something, you know, for the late game.
U Bow's rights for MLB have games at the Field
of Dreams, the Field of dream Stadium, not a bad
idea for recently retired players at test negative like the
Big Three in the NBA. I thought we were having
a game there, are we? I don't know I'd being serious.
I thought there was gonna be one game there at

(01:36:44):
the Field of Dreams. Google that you're probably right, I thought, Yeah,
I'll have to double check. That hold hold on. Whenever
Lee talks to me, it mutes everything that you said.
There you go, thanks, Bobo, All right, there you go. Look,
you know, that would be a bucket list thing. I
would love to go to a game like that and

(01:37:05):
sit back and enjoy something like that. That could be
a lot of their building a temporary ballpark for this thing.
Eight thousand seats and it will be the White Sox
in Iowa. I think it would be a Sunday night game.
Not bad, of course, that is up in the air now. Yeah,
White Sox and the Yankees, that's right. Yeah, but with
the White Sox playing in eight thousand seats? Can they
sell it out? Correction, it would have been a Fox game.

(01:37:29):
I am already speaking past tense. I apologize. Uh. Paul
writes why is Kirk curb Street the leading analysts in
college football? His career stats at Ohio State two thousand,
four hundred and seventy yards, five touchdowns, and eleven interceptions.
It shows you what good looks can do for you. Yes,
those eyes. I mean, come on, guys. We have talked

(01:37:51):
before about how bad an analyst Joe Montana was, and
at the time he was the best quarterback. Ever, your
stats had nothing to do. But he was off some
in tattle tales. He was very good at that. You
know you've mentioned March Madness earlier. Do you remember when
John Thompson, longtime Georgetown coach, was criticizing a long time

(01:38:13):
analyst because he hadn't had a good record as a coach.
You know that's ridiculous. Can he be an analyst and
not have your record as a coach? I don't think
had a good record as coach? He did not. He
did not, So again, yeah, I can see where when
you hear someone trying to question whether or not we're
gonna play ball, that suddenly he just sucked as a player.

(01:38:35):
I understand where that comes from. But yeah, it's irrelevant
whenever we get to that point. A couple of other
quick ones. If Annie was a g M and a
scout and a coach, his team would be the next dynasty.
Just ask him. Absolutely, of course it would be. And
you gotta you gotta wonder that you can take the

(01:38:56):
greatest quarterback in the history of the football game. Um
in the sixth round. A lot of people, Oh yeah,
because we got twenty people out every staff that know
what they're doing. So, let's Tom Brady fall to the
sixth round. It's funny you cause one guy, Carell Davis
to the sixth round. Good a second one thirty years ago,

(01:39:19):
I'm working work with me. All of a sudden, everyone
that scouts or drafts Mars Russell, they suck at their job. Unreal.
Um here's a couple of other quick ones. My prediction
is the first live sporting event we will see will
be a matchplay event between Phil and Tiger within a
month or two, test them and their caddies for the virus.

(01:39:40):
Played for ten million and donate half to charity. The
ratings would be huge. Didn't we try to do that
at one point and it didn't work out so well?
Or no, I think Phil play in the middle of
the football season and it didn't work out so well.
I think that was in thousand Hawks and they're gonna
get miked up? Is that what you said they'll be.
I would love to hear what Tigers got to say.
He's you know, he's lets it roll roll right off

(01:40:02):
the tongue. I would love to hear some of his comments. Yeah,
we'll need to delay on that, or to go ahead
and put it on on an outlet where we would
be able to use colorful language. And then here's Pam
who rides, Look what tom Brady? Look what round tom
Brady was drafted in. But keep in mind, had it
not been for an injury, you would have never stepped
on the field. He's played for one team for twenty years,

(01:40:23):
which gets me to one thought. Arnie and back all
gave him his whole career the stupid tuck rule game.
And by the way, my favorite thing about the tuck
rules how everyone be goes, oh, yeah, don't you know
that's rule shot up? Nobody even heard of it before
it happened on that play. And if it would have
benefited the Raiders and it helped out rich gannon Patriot

(01:40:45):
fans would still be crying more than Raider fans are,
even though we cried quite a bit over it. Um,
here's the thought for you. What if Jared stid him
is Tom Brady two point oh and we just don't
know yet? Why not did you have Tom Brady playing
for two of years and winning six Super Bowls after
his first year in the NFL? Pretty much? Of course

(01:41:05):
I did not see. That's what I'm saying. How do
we not know. I mean, did you have Kurt Warner
coming in when Trent Greene got hurt and setting the
NFL on fire. If you're gonna use two examples of
guys who k from late rounds to show how dumb
NFL personnel people are, Arnie, why not? And because here's why.
Daniel Jeremiah, who you might know from the NFL Network,

(01:41:25):
had this to say about what the what the Patriots
were going to do at the quarterback position in the draft.
When I talked to folks that have good buddies in
that organization, they say that Jared's Didham is going to
be their quarterbacks. They like Jarretts did him, They like
Jearts did him. They compare them to this group of
quarterbacks they feel good about Jarretts Didham. So I don't
think they're going to take a quarterback in the first

(01:41:46):
round until they get a chance to really evaluate Didham
and with a chance to be the starter. So I
don't see them going quarterback in By the way, Colin,
because I've listened to a show more than ever, is
a big reaction guy. If you listen to a closely,
you'll get a lot of oh oh, just something to
look forward to this week. Guys. Um, yeah, I I

(01:42:07):
don't want to buy it, right, We don't want to
buy based on what we saw in college with him
at Baylor and Auburn. Who knows I was gonna say.
I didn't think stud was gonna get the chance because
I feel what you've got to replace the Tom Brady.
You've got to make a big splash, or at least
get a big name in there. You would have brought
in like a Jamis or a cam or somebody to that,
or you would have gotten the Teddy Bridgewater, or you
would have made a move for one of those other

(01:42:29):
quarterbacks like a Mariota's somebody that people know. You don't
replace Tom Brady with Stidham unless you feel really, really good, UM,
that this guy is the real deal. I'm talking to
Jason Campbell tomorrow, remember him, the former Auburn quarterback. Also, Um,
we'll see what he's got to say about Stidham. And
I know there's a lot of high praise about this
guy from the quarterback whisperers out there. I just don't

(01:42:52):
know if he's I mean, really, you can't. You can't
find anybody replaced Tom Brady. But Stidham wouldn't have been
one of the top ten names I would have thought of. No,
not at all. But when when you when you talked
to Jason Campbell, will you ask him why he dove
head first and broke his collar bone in weeks six
of the Raiders two thousand what was at ten season?

(01:43:12):
Because it pretty much ruined a chance for that team
to win the Super Bowl. With that said, tom Brady's
first year, I mean he only played in one game
and went one for three. It was six yards. And
I'm old enough to remember. And Arnie you did this
as well too when we were doing sports talk radio
and two thousand and one, whenever Tom Brady took over,
the question wasn't right away, oh my gosh, here's the

(01:43:32):
next great quarterback. The question was, all right, wins Drew
bledsoe gonna get back. And then after a couple of games,
it became will Drew bledsoe get his job back once
he gets healthy. So and and even Tom Brady didn't
set the world on fire right away, and there was
even thoughts, hey, you gotta get it back quickly, gotta
get it back quickly. And then when he got healthy,

(01:43:53):
they didn't bring it back as the starter. So again,
I'm not trying to tell you that jared'stid him is
Tom Brady, but it follows that path of what we
always want to do with guys that are drafted. Right,
you want to arrest a guy here, you want to
give him a ma homes, a McNair a year to
where they don't have to do too much. So if
they're high on them, Arty, what are you hearing in Boston?

(01:44:14):
Because maybe he can be that buffer because nobody wants
to replace a legend, right, nobody wants to but he
but he's going to. Yes, absolutely, there's no doubt about it.
He is gonna be the air apparent. A matter of fact,
they felt like they looked into getting Hoyer back, um
to go ahead and teach them along the way. I
know Belichick is very fond of a lawyer. I still

(01:44:34):
think Howyer is gonna come on in. But um, they're
gonna gives to him all the chance he needs. I
think Belichick thinks he could win um ten games with
Tod him. Well, good luck to you if you think
you can. Gosh, what if he does, Oh, you're gonna
be so missing your course. You're a closet Patriots fan,
you're gonna love it. I don't probably have a chance to.
I think the Patriots could finish in the last place

(01:44:55):
in that division, do you? Yeah? Okay, I don't. Don't
you gonna read the pella stupidity on that one or what? Well?
I mean again, we we don't have a schedule to
look at yet, so it's kind of hard to break
that down a bit. And we haven't even had the
draft yet, so I mean we could hypothetically say that
for any team exception to the city right now. Yes,

(01:45:17):
the show is today when we come back to the
getic Fox Sports Radio studios. Yes, yes, it's time to
play Buyer Cell. But first, one final time. Tonight Steve
to Seger comes strolling into the gut Go Fox Sports
Radio Studios. What's going on, Steve? So, I guess Chris
you're saying you could ask him about his college injury,
same as you could ask Jimmy Garoppolo a couple of
years ago. Why didn't you just step out of bounds?

(01:45:38):
You were already on the sideline ending. By the way,
the Madden Invitational re air has ended on FS one
with the Chargers Derwin James taking the final, dominating Michael
Vick eighty to sixteen. And FS one did carry virtual
NASCAR racing again today, and don't forget you mentioned Patriots
Falcons was on today. Fox TV will air different Super

(01:46:00):
Bowl every Sunday afternoon three pm Eastern Time. Next Sunday
it will be Green Bay Pittsburgh. Also, through the month
of April, FS one will carry Classic NFL postseason games
on Thursday and Friday nights, starting with Minnesota New Orleans
this week. I assume that's the Electric Finish from a
couple of years ago. In fact, a week from Thursday,
it will be a playoff game Giants Eagles, and on

(01:46:21):
a Thursday night in mid April, FS one will be
showing a Cowboys Packers playoff game from three years ago.
Speaking of Dallas, Jimmy Johnson says his Hall of Fame
presenter this year will be Troy Aikman and from Fox
Terry Bradshaw. We'll be putting the jacket on him. He's
just a regular fan. Do it like people sending in
their names and just draw a fan. What if Jerry

(01:46:42):
Jones puts in his name? The Detroit Lions will sign
wide receiver Geronimo Allison exit. Green Bay running back Ronald
Darby agreed to a one year deal with the Redskins.
Former Washington Huskies football coach Jim Lambright passed away at
the age of seventy seven. Lambright was the team's defensive
coordinator from nineteen seventy eight to ninety two, then took

(01:47:05):
over as head coach when Don James retired. Lambright was
born and raised in the Seattle area, played on Washington's
nineteen sixty three Rose Bowl team, and joined their coaching
staff in nineteen sixty nine. Bleacher Report says former star
lineman with Jacksonville Tony Basselli was initially an intensive care
recently hospitalized due to coronavirus, that he's doing better now

(01:47:25):
but still receiving treatment. Basselli was a Pro Bowl tackle
for five straight years through two thousand. The Celtics Marcus
Smart says he was cleared of coronavirus a couple of
days ago, and an update on ex golfer Casey Martin
I read this weekend. He's trying to save his leg,
which still hasn't healed after breaking in almost six months ago.
He's now Oregon's golf coach. He was big in the

(01:47:45):
news years ago, suffering from a debilitating condition since first
and he sued the PGA Tour and won the right
to use a golf cart in tournaments. And now with
this broken leg, he's not only still on crutches, hasn't
been able to take a step without crutches for six months.
It's a congenital circulatory disorder and that's president preventing Casey
Martin's fracture from healing. He could have a prosthetic amputation

(01:48:11):
and maybe pain free after that, but he says that's
even more perilous in his case because if I lose
my leg, it would be an above the knee deal.
Pretty risky for my situation anyway, I'd rather not if
I could save it because of the risk. So in
the coming weeks, Casey Martin will travel up to the
state of Washington and get fitted for an expensive carbon
fiber leg support brace not covered by insurance, which could

(01:48:33):
help redirect a weight and allow for the fracture to
finally heal. He says, hopefully it can give me some relief,
but it's certainly been a big struggle. The update on
former golfer Casey Martin back to you. Thanks Steve have
a great week, but he can't wait till next weekend.
As we come to you live from the Geico Fox
Sports Radio studios. It's easy to say or more on

(01:48:54):
car insurance, just use Geico. You can go to Geico
dot com or call seven Auto. The only hard part
figuring out which way is easier. Alright, tweets coming up,
Artie speaks, coming up. Let's play a quick game of
buy or sell here before we wrap up this segment
our final hour and make way for Big Ben Mallard. Right,

(01:49:15):
Arnie buyer sell. Jamis Winston will be a starter in
the NFL Week one next season with the Los Angeles Chargers. No,
I'm gonna sell that. I I think he'll sign somewhere.
I don't know if he'll be a starter week one.
If you're gonna say he's gonna start somewhere in the
first like eight weeks, I'd say there's a good chance

(01:49:36):
for that. I'm selling that right now. I mean there's
still a chance that could happen. I'm saying mathematically probably not.
Uh me'll probably want to sign where he has the
best chance of maybe sneaking in or you know, starting
or someplace that maybe not gonna work out for the
starter like the Titans did with Tannehill and Mariota. But no,
I don't think he's gonna be starting from week one on. Alright,
So Adam Kaplan was on Fox Sports Radio earlier today

(01:49:59):
with Dan Buyer. This buy her sell has to do
with Cam Newton. But before we get to it, Arnie,
I want you to hear what Adam had to say
about Cam Newton's fit the different offense. They're going to
completely change it with Tyrod Taylor being the starter for now.
It's not gonna be the drop back off and so
we saw that's gonna be more of a run based
movement offense. I think Cam would fit really well with
the Chargers. So buy yoursell. Since we brought up Jamis

(01:50:21):
Winston potentially being with the Charger the Chargers and being
their starting quarterback, and you kind of poo poo that, Arnie,
buy her sell. Cam Newton will be on the Chargers
roster sooner rather than later. I could see that happening.
Sooner than later. I would buy into that one. I
don't think they're just gonna go ahead and go with
ty Taylor and say we're good. Obviously, they'll try to

(01:50:41):
think if they'll draft a quarterback, and I don't know
what will be falling to them also, but I would
I would probably buy that one. I think that'd be
a good addition obviously that when you're gonna have to
pay a guy that type of money, you may want
to see him on the field, so he may get
his way into the starting lineup. But yeah, I can
see that happy. I'm to buy that. You know what's
interesting is he could find himself in a situation very

(01:51:05):
similar Tyrod Taylor, that is to the one that he
was in in Cleveland, to where he's the starting quarterback
coming out of the camp and then by three or
four weeks in, if it's to Uh or if it's
Joe Burrow or if it's Jordan's Love, that rookie could
be starting Buffalo. I say, San Diego, Well, yeah, same
thing Buffalo with with Josh Allen and what happened to
him there as well. Poor dude, man, he keeps winning jobs,

(01:51:28):
getting contracts and then he gets beat out. Yeah he was,
Actually they were. I think they had done okay with
him as the starter in Buffalo before they made they
made the playoffs with him as their starting quarterback. And
remember that atrocious game they had against the Jaguars where
Nathan Peterman had to come in and through the pick six.
So yeah, not good by the way, Nathan Peter Nathan Peterman,

(01:51:50):
Las Vegas Radar right now, look out all right, Arnie
buy or sell Mark Cuban's idea on possible adjustments to
the schedule. What I got into the league, I mean,
I was like, why are we doing this? No one
wants you know, football dominates prior to Christmas. Why don't
we start Christmas Day and then go into the summer. Historically,
the number of homes that are watching television during the

(01:52:12):
summer declined significantly. But now with Cord Cunting, we're in
a different universe. Now with the Corona world, we're in
a different universe. And so depending on how long this
goes and what happens and when we come back, if
we come back, the viewership habits will be completely different.
That creates opportunity for us to take chances and try
different things. In my perfect world, you know, maybe we're

(01:52:35):
playing quote unquote summer League in in August, September, in October,
and then going right into the start of the season,
So Arnie, buy or sell. That's a lot of months
in time there, Glad, Yes, yeah, and is. But in
other words, they're off season. These the summer league games
are when you would typically start this season, so buy
or sell. This could be an opportunity for the NBA

(01:52:56):
to change its overall schedule and start a little later
where it's not bumping up against Are you talking permanently
or just for this year permanently? Not just this year term? Here?
That's what did you not listen about? Mark said, yeah,
but I when he was saying that, I I, you know,
for for the start a Christmas permanently. But then he
said the viewing habits are not there in the summer,

(01:53:18):
which is if you started in Christmas time, you would
you wouldn't get that viewership in the summer. But then
again he goes people cutting the cord and the coronavirus
viewership aside. I think would probably be a good idea.
I don't know if I would wait till Christmas? Can
I maybe started in December? Is that too earlier? Do
I gotta wait through the whole month of December and

(01:53:39):
then started on Christmas? People do say? And me and
UNSTARTTI Christmas. But I can see where Mark is coming
in on that one. Um, is there gonna be enough
time to get it done through this summer? I mean
the way it drags on now, it goes until almost
late June, So I mean, what are we gonna to
play until July and August? Play more condensed to scare,

(01:54:00):
play fewer games. Maybe that's never gonna happen. Um, yeah,
I can see starting it on Christmas. Though now again
I should probably be clear because he did say December,
so you're right, so maybe I'm just assuming I say
to said, oh, December Christmas, so maybe they would look
a little earlier. But it just seems as if some
sports leagues could use this as an opportunity to adjust

(01:54:21):
the things schedule wise just a bit. And by the way,
one final Buyer Sell, Arnie buy or Sell the first
and we've I feel like we've changed this every week.
We could be rich right now if we would have
taken that over May one. Then we had Todd Firm
and on a couple of weeks ago to talk about.
But Arnie Buy or Sell the first professional sports league

(01:54:42):
that will play a game not necessarily in fun in
front of fans, but we'll play a regular season game,
will be the n b A buying buying that, my friends,
I think it's um easier to get that going than
let's say, the nh L. I mean, I don't know
about sock or tennis or anything like that, if that's
what you're gonna bring up. But yeah, I'm going to

(01:55:04):
agree with you on that one. In the NBA. Um,
now that we know April is the end of the
supposed to be the end of the quarantine, I'm surprised
if they're not working on when they want to start
and um, you know what's their tentative go date. I
would think it's like halfway through May. So uh, let's go,
let's get this done. When we come back to the
Geico Fox Sports Radio studios, that final line, that's how

(01:55:26):
I feel about this show. Let's go, let's get this done.
Arnie's picks are next to take us home and get
you ready for big Ben Mallard on Fox Sports Radio.
I think Bobo plays is just because he wants to
hear me try to figure the words out as it
rolls on my favorite song in the world. Oh it's
one of my favorite songs. Oh gosh, so what's his name.

(01:55:53):
That's Bobo on the Wheels of Steel. He's awesome. Great
job tonight, and we didn't we didn't talk too much Doc.
We didn't talk Doc at all. It's on me next week.
Something tells me we'll have plenty of time next week.
Trying to squeeze that in next week. Great job, Lee
lead a lap on the producer's side of things. I
got to hang out lead back to back night. It
was rather pleasant. I enjoyed it. So good to Hangley

(01:56:14):
and also Steve to say, you're on updates. Hey, the
great Big BN Mallard is coming up next to on
Fox Sports Radio to start your week off on an
angry tone and an angry tent, So get ready for that.
And I think there's only one way to wrap this
bad boy up. Hell, are you gonna pick Arnie's picks?
But what are you picking? Oh wait till you here,

(01:56:35):
give me a little music. Put me in the mood,
because tomorrow we got the NBA two K simulation games
going on, and we start right off at eleven thirty
Eastern where the Spurs computer is a eight and a
half point favorite over the Chicago Bulls. You've got to
take the Spurs in late eight and a half. You know,
why don't you? Why is that? Arn'tie? I don't know,

(01:56:59):
but I like this person roster or is it? I
don't know if it has to do it? I guess
it depends on a lot. Yeah, it's the current roster.
So I'll lay the eight and a half. Um, give
me the Utah Jazz minus six and a half against
the Minnesota Timberwolves. I love the Clippers laying seventeen and
a half against the Suns. And you gotta give me

(01:57:22):
Brooke excuse me, Boston plus eighteen and a half points
against the Brooklyn Nets. That's the late game. That's that's
the five thirty game tomorrow. By the way, can't you
want to watch him? Uh? There's a game Thursday l
s U in Villanova and college basketball. I'm gonna pass
on that one. That one's too tough to call for
me right now. Is this still two K? Or is

(01:57:44):
this a classic broadcasts? That's still two k? That's still
too k now? Uh. The Belarus Premier League. I love
FC gore Rida Ya. The over two and a quarter
goals in that one. I think it's soccer. Yeah, the
over two and the sports. The over two and a

(01:58:06):
quarter goals, by the way, two at a quarter. I've
never seen a one like that, so I'll take the
over two and a quarter. I also like FC Dynamo
Minsk for whatever reason. Please tell me you know what
FC stands for? Football club. There you go, So I'm
gonna take them because I think they're the favorite in

(01:58:27):
that one, and we go to I think it's Nick Roagua.
That's easy for me to say, good luck give me
and I picked this out real Real Madrid's in that one.
So there you have my picks two of the measure.
Please remember they're no longer strictly for entertainment purposes only.

(01:58:50):
I wish that you were as big of a degenerate
gambler as your picks would lay you out. In my mind,
I really wish that you were looking for as that
you could gamble on these games, Bruce handball. You could
bet on that. I didn't get the pick there. I'm
surprised you that was it highlight. I can't. I can't
used to be big, you can't. But I don't think

(01:59:10):
you'd bet it anymore. You can't. I'm not sure. I'm
not sure. Well a fascinating job by you tonight and
still finding a way to find a lot of picks there.
Remember I like the Celtics plus eighteen and a half
that's way too many points. That must be a mis line.
They should be favorite in that one. Yeah? Absolutely, I mean,
who's eighteen and half point mistake? Who's who's playing them? Like?

(01:59:32):
Who's controlling them? Do you know? Or is it just
it's the computer? I think their computers. Okay, if it
comes to this and we're legitimately showing highlights of something
beyond eye racing. If if I turn on Fox Sports
one or ESPN and my highlight shows are showing highlights
of a two K game, that's a simulation. I think

(01:59:55):
I might have to start reading some books, aren't I
think that might have to be it From that Lakers,
are I need to have point favorite over the Hornets tomorrow?
I forgot about that. That's the seven game. Too many,
way too many points, way too many points. Is this
like the casino in Vegas vacation where they can play
rock paper scissors in order to end up winning his
money back? Is that where you found these lines? Hey,

(02:00:18):
tale of two real lines? This was like one of
those illegal websites or something. One of the websites. These
are real. They were on one of those illegal websites,
a real website. Okay, okay, okay, I got you. Uh
two worlds too good tweets To wrap it up, thinking
about my man u C. L A Dodger Frank, who
hits us up on Twitter and rights. I work at

(02:00:38):
a theme part MLS Stadium and the new l A Stadium,
so needless to say, all of my sources of income
are in limbo at the time being. One of the
few things that's keeping my sanity is the ability to
listen to sports talk shows like yours. Thank god, thanks guys,
thank you, ul A Dodger, Frank, thank you. And then
there's my man Brendan. I'm handling the situation well, I

(02:01:02):
just play sports games on my PS four and watch
old real games on TV. Translation. Everybody obey the authorities.
The sooner real live sports are back, the happier we
all will be. I agree, I agree, um. And then
Paul points out, hey, guys, people are still going to
the beach in Florida and Virginia. Arenie your April countdown?

(02:01:25):
You might have go You might as well go ahead
and stretch that out. And Fred Fred wants to add
to your anger tonight. Arizona should have wanted two thousand
and one versus Duke before, but Michael Dickerson was hurt
and the refs were pro Blue Devil absolutely absolutely, of course, sorry,

(02:01:46):
I'm glad that you're over that. I'm glad that you
haven't made that as angry as I have over the
stupid Tuck Roule game. We'll already have a great week, man, hopefully,
hopefully we'll be closer to a little bit of NFL
draft talks, So we'll bring on some of our draft
experts next Sunday, a night to go more in depth
kind of looking maybe some potential moves as well too.
And yeah, Bubbo, we'll be here, so we'll talk a

(02:02:06):
lot about Dak Prescott for the crew. He's already Spaniard.
I'm Chris big Biness next on Fox Sports Radio.
