Speaker 1 (00:00):
Valentine's Day is almost here, and you know what that means.
It's time done make her blush with fresh blooms and
gifts from pro Flowers this year. Go to pro flowers

percent off through February fourteen on all the best blooms
and gifts. See website for details. Mama, what does the
chicken fall draft draffe really? Giraffe? Giraffe? You're not gonna

(00:29):
get it all right. Just make sure you know the
big stuff, like making sure your kids are buckled correctly
in the right seat for their agent's eyes. Get it right.
Visits n h s A dot gov. Slash the right Seat,

and the AD Council. Look for your children's eyes and
you will discover the true magic of a forest. Find

(00:52):

Forest dot Org, brought to you by the United States
Forest Service and the AD Counts. You're listening to Fox
Sports and welcome in. It's week sixteen. If you're a
National Football League and we're already a quarter of the
way through the games, Yes, a trifecta. Smorg is born.

(01:14):
All the good terms you would love to use for
what was a full Saturday football. By the way, there
was a lot of college football too that just kind
of got lost in the noise when it's all said done.
But Mike Carmen Fox Football Sunday, alongside the All American
the fro my guy Lovar Arrington. I'm here, baby, sitting
in the studio. I got I got nothing, I got

(01:36):
an empty studio next to me. Man, you know you're
the man, though, I got a town. Well, you got
big wide shoulders. You gotta you gotta make the world
stand up for. How was Christmas? That was good? How
about yours? Nice and relaxing? You know, there were a
lot of stories that I wanted to get on Aaron
rant about. But you know, you're in sequestered, in days

(01:56):
off and sequestered just because you know it's that vacation
time of the year. But you see stuff hit the
Twitter time like like, no, I want to talk about that, No,
I want to yell at that guy. So I was
almost gonna become a caller and just start calling into
the different shows with random characters. Pretty funny. And then
I said nah, callers kill a show, So I'm done
with it. So it's here we are because that's what

(02:19):
I would have done. I would have taken over and
that would have been the end of it. LaVar, you
know how that goes. I do, I definitely do. But yeah,
the girls and I had had a good run. I
made some glug. Your bottle is sitting in front of me.
I promised I won't drink it while I'm on because
that could be you should have told me, man, no, Well,
we'll make sure we are expressing out. I just heard that.
You know, I was sitting in a fumigated situations. So

(02:42):
I just kind of said, you know what, let me
let me play. Let me play it cool. There's no
no problem with playing. You gotta play a cool place
at the holidays. Sometimes you just gotta play a cool
during the holiday season, like the Tim Tayson's you know,
oh nicely done. Yeah, especially when you're coming off of
well the madness that we saw yesterday in the National

(03:05):
Look at you going all deep. You want to get
a standard baseball guy, base guy over in the corner
for you there, Well that's what the Lions look like yesterday.
But we'll get to them in a minute. Did ever. Yeah,
I'm not even gonna bring our guy Chris pro Fett
on to talk about that game. He's got ag Knew

(03:25):
that he can raise a hand for. Because I want
to say this, I I you know, because you like
watching big play, especially special teams where you don't get
a lot of monster plays anymore, just the way the
kickoff and punt returns are. But Agnew has the punt
return for the touchdown, and on YouTube it's Agnew resurrects
Lions with seventy four yard punt returned t D. At

(03:47):
the time that that return happened, it was forty to nothing,
So I don't know what resurrecting was. They got him
off the proverbial snide, but that was a clinic, an
excellence and execute. You should when you're talking about being
down a number of coaches and just Tom Brady carving
it up and he made some throws. You know that

(04:09):
people gotta give credit. Even though the lines aren't what
they they're supposed to be. Tom Brady still made big
plays in the game and did things that people question
them for, which is bombing people like oh condoned Brady
pushed the ball down feel I've said it in weeks past.
I don't know why we don't pay attention to the
fact that Tom Brady pushes the ball down field at

(04:30):
times and does it effectively. He did it in this
game as well. Well, you have a couple of interceptions
against the Saints and suddenly you can't play football anymore.
That's the way that goes, right, But I did make
this argument for how good the Steelers um were at
one point, and they're skidding and I'm not sure that
they're gonna be able to stop the bleeding today. Yeah. Well,
we'll get into that game coming up in about fifteen

(04:52):
minutes from now. But as we start each and every
show on a Sunday morning, it's the Friday Saturday rewind.
Let's go all the way act a Friday when Minnesota's
defense didn't bother to get off the bus. And I
I say this with all respect to to the men
who put the uniforms on and play, and I think
most of them would agree with me. None of those

(05:15):
eleven guys that were lining up on Minnesota because people
were in my timeline and getting all up in their
fields as fans and wanting to list off injuries all
over the place. The guys that were still on the
field playing, they don't want to hear about the guys
that aren't. They still have to go make plays, and
they weren't good enough, and Mike Zimmer didn't scheme well enough.
And yes, I get it, there's a difference between your

(05:37):
your first unit and second unit ever at every position,
but those guys didn't look like they even wanted to
be on the field for much of that game. You know,
when your season is on the line and you you
had the opportunity to keep yourself alive, you would assume
that you have two choices. One is you give it

(06:00):
everything that you have and you live with the results
no matter what the outcome of the game is. Or two,
you just kind of, you know, hope for the best
and go out there and you're you're just you're just there.
And it seemed as though we had more of the
just there more so than you know, guys really really

(06:25):
putting it on the line to actually want to keep
their seasons alive. So, you know, we're getting down to
to to the end, and you would think that people
are going to certainly, um give it more effort than
what we saw in these slated games on the people
that were losing the games. Yeah, when we look at

(06:46):
the game on Friday, obviously the Alvin Kamara Fantasy Superstar game. Uh,
if you survived a championship week, congratulates Sorry Vince, because
I know Vince is getting worked by Alvin Kimaran company.
Although how you guys let Garrett assemble that roster that
he has in that league. You should all be fired anyway,
because I heard you getting new in your prop bets

(07:08):
earlier with with Andy and Brian Vince. No man should
have been allowed to amass that roster. You guys were complicit.
I don't know what to say. He's got no response.
You know it to be true, the fact that he's
running out Davante Adams, Tyreek Hill and Alvin Kamara. No
team should be There's no way you should be able

(07:29):
to have those three guys together. But enough about the
fantasy side of face. Uh, you know, Dalvin Cook. Look,
it was a thirt game after three quarters, and for
the most part, it just seemed like the Saints were
the proverbial cat playing with a ball of yarn, that
it was whatever they wanted to turn it up and
score they could and because it's a big burial, obviously

(07:53):
all the boo birds and everybody comes after Kirk Cousins
Uh Drew Brees for a day nineteen twenty three, eleven
two picks. So a little bit of handwringing, Doune, But
you got the run game in full effect between Camara
and Murray, and you didn't have Michael Thomas, who's on
I R until they get to the playoffs. And can

(08:14):
you blame the boo birds? I mean, let's be real
here when you're when you're looking at again the importance
of the game. They were eliminated from the playoffs after
this game, So of course you're gonna have boo birds
because you know that the season is coming to an
end for your team and you would like to see

(08:35):
like yeah, sure it was seemingly closer than than what
the final score would indicate. But make no mistake about it,
this has not been a year to remember for the
Minnesota Vikings. Know there's certainly some good things there, and
we we talked about the we we talked about the

(08:56):
number of injuries go all the way back to losing
Danil Hunter to start the season. You brought in Unique
and Gok way thinking, all right, we'll pair those two
guys up and you never get them to get unique.
Is how I've seen it pronounced repeatedly. We'll call him,
I know him pretty well. Is that how he says
his name? Okay, that's how I had said it. And

(09:19):
then the broadcasting profession add the ee to it. So
let's have a pre meeting with them just about Yannick.
There you go. But he wasn't much of a factor
while he was there, and a way they went and
then went yeah, and and quickly it goes but there
you go. I'll go back to Yannick because that's the way.
That's the way I knew it. And then went to

(09:39):
Friendship High School, attended Maryland. You know him since he
was a baby, since he was a baby, A we lads.
I coached him in the U A gay. See, now
we're going deep dive. I got history. I just give
y'all the deep dive as to why I know his
name is yan Nick not Unique. Hey, I'm I'm with it.
I'm with it. Yeah, that was not even a call out.

(10:00):
That was just making sure that the professionals don't mess up.
You know that one person that I actually know well,
the fact that they can get in Gockway right is
at least a start. So the funny thing is that
I don't try to say his last name. I just
know his first Now see, they nicely done, all right.
The next game was the morning game, the Buccaneers and

(10:21):
the Lions. We don't need to spend much time. We
already talked about it. Tom Brady with a couple of
big throws, and again you can talk about the lack
of interest, the number of coaches missing, uh, the effort
not there in Matthew Stafford gets beat up once again. Uh,
so that game wasn't in doubt. You probably turned back
to a Christmas Story or whatever was on on your

(10:42):
Saturday morning. Did you watch Christmas Story this year? I
hate that movie so no, no, I'm done with it.
I'm done with it after twenty five years of it, LaVar.
It's one of those things if you keep force fooding me, eventually,
I don't want to come back to the trough. I
am not and you're not making fun one rod of me.

(11:03):
You gotta love Christmas Story. We watched it. I have
the street still going still last I was a kid.
You gotta gotta keep hope alive for me. I, um
that one, it's just one that all right, it's on again,
but now it takes up two channels, like what are
you doing? You're taking away? What are you doing? And
we ended up watching Criminal Minds. I don't know what that.

(11:26):
I tell you what, just hearing on every time that
that's the thing that they're into you. You got detectives
for I can't put anything over on these two. I
can tell you that you'll be proud one day. Proud
Now I'm I'm a bit scared. Yeah, I'm just a
little bit scared. Hey, how about the Iowa product getting
it done? Uh? And really putting the Arizona Cardinals on

(11:51):
the skits twenty to twelve year final George Kittle returns
to lead the forty Niners and receiving four catches ninety
two yards. We'll hear from him in a few minutes
because he had some well fun postgame comments that relate
to my world. But hundred eighty two yards three touchdowns
for Beathard Wilson with a hundred eighty three yards on

(12:11):
the on the ground and just uh, an opportunity for
the San Francisco defense and Robert sala. Uh. That is
a an audition for a head coaching job. Better there
was uh, Kyler Murray fifty to seven and an interception,
a little bit of help from uh Drake on the ground,
but eight teen carries forty five yards. That's barely fallen forward.

(12:34):
Murray had seventy five yards on the scampers himself. But
once again, DeAndre Hopkins eight catches forty eight yards, a
lot of short passes, no yak running up for DeAndre Hopkins,
and suddenly, uh, it puts the Bears in position to
quote control their own destiny the worst phrase that we
have in sports. But when and you're in um But

(12:56):
for Kyler Murray once again battered, beaten, bruised, and the
forty niners defense they give no quarter. You know. But
it was a good game, you know, I thought it
was a It was a competitive game, you know, going
into halftime it was seven six, you know, and and
then coming out of coming out of it, you know,

(13:17):
you're talking about seven six, and in the second half
it was thirteen to six. So it was it was
a well played game. But the only problem with it
being considered a well played game is that I believe
that the San Francisco forty Niners out out, planned, out

(13:37):
schemed the Arizona Cardinals, and Cliff Kingsbury has to know
that being a coach in the National Football League, this
is the time of the year where people are going,
as I mentioned in the last game, are either gonna
put their best foot forward or they're gonna lay down.

(13:59):
And if you're seeing a team put their best foot forward,
you have to go into the game being prepared to
be able to deal with them putting their best foot forward.
And yeah, I think Arizona right now, today or yesterday
should have been considered the better team. They have the
better record, and they seem to have a lot of

(14:20):
the elements that they need to be the better team
and win against San Francisco and allow San Francisco to
get a little bit of uh um, what what we
want to call it? A door prize, you know, a
parting gift, you know, And they have not had the
type of season that they would like to have, and
you let them off the hook, you know, you let them,

(14:42):
you let them get a feel good. At least we
were better than Arizona at the end of the year
in our division when people are talking about how how
hot and up and coming this this uh this new
quarterback and this team is uh it just you know
it didn't materialize that way for them. All right, we
got one more talk about letting a team off the hook,

(18:17):
Welcome back in It's Fox Football Sunday. Uh, the final
of our four early games. I e. The games ahead
of Sunday morning. Perhaps you're already h licking bills thinking
that you've won your fantasy title. Dramatic comebacks. I can't
wait to see some of the six start options I'll
have thrown my way today. LaVar desperation, whose team is

(18:40):
worse early so they have to do nothing but pass
late to get me some some fantasy points because they
all count just the same. We've got the reports that
Urban Meyer is being contacted by a number of teams
about NFL coaching jobs. That's well kept. Sandy didn't want
to coach. You know, it's so funny because Johnny Gruten

(19:06):
said for many years, I don't want to coach. You know,
he probably other than them a hundred million dollars, he
probably doesn't want to be on the end of a
lot of these games going right now. Well, I mean
think about it. You you get a job where you
have the ability to do it, do it well. People
love Chucky and they love the things that he created

(19:27):
in media. You know, I think urban Meyer, Um, he
does very well in media. I think it's less stressful.
For I know it's less stressful. I've had conversations with
him in the avocado room at FS one. We've drawn
up plays together not to flex on anybody and say
that you just kind of flexed on me about nine
times there. And I'm sorry. I didn't want to make

(19:49):
it about a flex. But what you know, I want
your flex, but I didn't want to flex. Um and
and and so the thing about it with urban Meyer,
from my um vantage point is it's interesting he enjoys
doing the big college at the big noon college show.
But I can tell by the way he moves he's

(20:13):
still a coach. That's just my takeaway from it. I
can tell he's still a coach. And if you're Urban Meyer,
and you've proven how good you are as a coach
for as long as he has, and his style is
definitely proven. Man, Look here he's going to continue to

(20:33):
have opportunities and when he believes the right opportunity has
presented itself, I believe we're going to see urban Meyer
coaching again. Yeah, I have no doubt. I don't think
he's done. Whether it's the NFL or back to the
college game. It's just a matter of if or when,
I should say, not if that happens, because he's a

(20:53):
young man still, it's still a lot of time left,
you know, to find a new challenge. And the desk
will always be there, right, That's the only it will
It will always be there. That's that, And that is
the thing about it. No matter how good a replacement
maybe that comes in once you've proven or at least

(21:15):
so it would appear for a few few different personalities
in the game, you are always going to have a
place in in media if you handle things the way
that guys like Gruten and urban Meyer have handled things.
People want the expert breakdowns and analysis of winners, and
both of them had you know, Gruten had enough success

(21:38):
coming off of his Tampa Bay days to go into
the booth with that that bubbly and charismatic way about
how he does things. And and then you know, that's
something that will continue to whold value. Urban Meyer is
a much more uh subdued, uh very calculated, very deliberate
and not not lie out or boisterous at all. Um.

(22:03):
But just just you know, I'll say this about urban Meyer.
I thought he was the biggest, you know, not the
greatest person that you could know from all of the
reports that I had read on him. I had did

(22:23):
so much extensive research on him because he was beating
my my, my school, and I got to know him
through the years through watching interviews and reading about him.
And one thing I can say, and I can honestly
say this with the most conviction, um that I can offer,

(22:45):
is when I met him when I started working at
FS one, I felt ashamed to myself that I had
I had actually did to him what so many people
had probably did to me based off of the way
I played football and based off of what they're perceived
notions of who I was as a person, um, based
off of my interviews. When I played, I knocked people out.

(23:07):
I played a valiant style of football, and people thought
that that was who I was and I couldn't be
the furthest thing from that. And urban Meyer is a
good dude. Man. That the point of the story without rambling,
because we've got games to get to. Urban Meyer is
as solid a dude as as you'll meet. And you know,

(23:28):
I told him if he went to USC, I certainly
would have no problem, um wanting to contribute to coaching
the other linebacker. You look at you finding yourself on
it at USC. I mean, how about that that would
be with Urban Meyer. I know that's job security. That
spells well, that's true. I can't take it with anybody. Yeah,

(23:50):
I think you're good though, with your expanding empire. Remember
up on game ten am to noon Pacific here on
here that yesterday, Holy smokes, I haven't had a chance
to Plexico brought the house down. Man. Unfortunate, untimely passing
of the kid from Utah, the freshman of the year.

(24:13):
He accidentally uh discharged and shot himself and passed away.
And and man, just the the just the perspective that
Plexico gave, knowing his past and knowing what he had
to overcome, UM with something similar to that. Was it
just man? I had tears in my eyes listening to it. Man,

(24:35):
and and and it was it was a really strong show.
You can find that podcast up on Apple Podcast, the

Everybody going through a lot this year or so, wherever

(24:56):
we certainly encourage you to do it. So plexico talking
about everybody remembers the incident all those years ago, so
very unique perspective. Certainly they're uh he LaVar Arrington my
co host here of course, and t J. Houshman's at
a two hours every Saturday. All right, we got games
to get to and we gotta we still gotta take

(25:17):
Grouden across the colts because I gotta ask from your opinion,
was he right? But we'll get to that in the moment.
First to Times of Glow and Crowded. He's got with Trendy.
Good morning, Michael, Good morning, little We got tons of
NFL stuff just this morning, starting with Ian Rappaport and
Tom Pellisera reporting the NFL is indeed expected to go
to a seventeen game regular ses beginning next year. Ye. Well, yeah,

(25:42):
we thought it was gonna be eighteen wis keep adding
them all turned out. Tuesday Afternoon football Wednesday Afternoon Football.
Rapping Board also reports, speaking of Tuesday and Wednesday Afternoon football,
the NFL find the Ravens two hundred fifty thousand dollars
for COVID protocol violations that led to that out earlier
this season. But the way they look at it, hey,

(26:03):
Lisa didn't cost us a draft pick. We can find
two hundred fifty thousand dollars in our couch at Owings
Mills over there. The Cleveland Browns have ruled out left
tackle Jedrick Wills, downgrading him too out for today's game
against the Jets due to a non COVID related illness.
Wild Saturday night in the NFL Vegas Style, Raiders taking
a three lead over the Dolphins on a field goal

(26:25):
with nineteen seconds left, but then quarterback Mathusela Ryan Fitzpatrick
assumed as alter ego fits Magic Here are Jimmy Cephalo,
Joe Rose, and Jason Taylor on w q AM. Fitzpatrick
steps in the pockets, got hold open, steps out of bounds?
Are you kidding me? I thought it was the Yeah, No,

(26:52):
this might keep the Dolphins there chance to win this
football game. Pits. He got his face mask torn off
in field. It did. Here was Jason Sanders. With six
seconds left, it will be forty four yards and he
is ten of twelve of this distance this year. All
the sound kick is up and it's good. It's good.

(27:15):
Win this good. With one second left, it's Miami like
a little levard. I sense, I'd sense no good knowing
the two of you the way that I do. Perhaps
you would like an encore of that Jack butt baby
is good. All right, here we go. This will be

(27:36):
forty four yards and he is ten of twelve of
this distance this year. All the sound kick is up
and it's good. Good game. With one second left, it's
Miami twenty six the Raiders twenty five. So the Raiders
areliminated from the playoffs. Dolphins magic never to clinch the

(27:58):
final a f C playoff spot over the Ravens is
one earlier Sunday, forty Niners studying the Cardinals twenty to twelve.
C J. Bethard three T D passes in its first startsinen,
so Arizona no longer controls its own destiny in the
NFC playoff race. Michael who does control their destiny. Now

(28:19):
college football and something called the FBC Mortgage Cure Bowl.
Liberty knocked off twelve night Coastal Carolina and overtime thirty
seven to thirty four. And a great game in the
NBA on Saturday Night Trailblazers over the Rockets and overtime
one to one twenty six. C J McCollum scored forty four,

(28:39):
including the game winning three pointer with six point nine
left in overtime. James Harden forty four points and seventeen
assists in a losing cause. Michael and LaVar and the
big turnover that will be shown forever. Yeah at Isaac
Loewen crawl. You know the funniest thing about that, that
replay of that call, what's that is when they have

(29:03):
the marve Albert voice and they get so excited yes
and it counts. Yeah, that's really good. You notice how
you have to drop the base on the bottom of it,
like you like in there. You know, when you're when
you're excited, it's up here. It's like, oh my gosh,
it was good. Wait, I forgot I have to be professional.

(29:26):
It was good. Change change it around. Can't let him
know I'm excited, So I gotta go deeper down, all right,
So let's let's do that game really quickly and then
turn our attention to Sunday, because we got we still
got twelve games. We've got a lot of great conversation

(29:46):
here in the rear view, but a lot still the
preview and the obvious question. And I asked it live
and in living color, wondering aloud with the Raiders possession
when they wanted Jacobs to run up the middle, why
why don't you score to go up five? You're inside

(30:09):
a minute? It's it seems and obviously, look I did
this in the real time. My daughters can attest to it.
I'll have him signed affidavits that I was cursing, saying,
why why aren't you going up five points here? Knowing
how bad your defense is? Anything more than one tick
of the clock uh left against the Raiders was a
recipe for disaster. And sure enough at a ridiculous coverage

(30:33):
issue where Hollands gets out wide open even on a
lame duck floating duck pass from Fitzpatrick as he's being
fish hooked, that there's not a defender within fifteen yards
of that guy. Come on, here's why I'm going to say,
I can see both sides of it. Yes, I would
agree with you. I would have been aggressive and made

(30:55):
sure that you had to score a touchdown not a
field goal. But with that being said, if you think
about it, Mike, what one touchdown was thrown? Uh by
the well to two or two touchdowns? Right? Um, one
values quarterback. But when you when you think about the

(31:16):
amount of scoring, there was only one at what one
touchdown per what third fourth quarter? So you have field
goals in the first half, field goals all around. Right,
you have field goals from Miami in the first half,
and then in the second half you get a touchdown
in the third quarter that's it, and then you get

(31:38):
you know, a touchdown to field goals. That's it, right,
So I would say defense. Probably he probably was looking
at the trends of the game and felt as though, um,
there just wasn't gonna be enough time for them to
be able to pull it off. That would be so.

(32:00):
But that's the thing they if they needed a touchdown,
maybe they don't because you have to call plays differently.
Instead went with kickers in this day and age. If
you're yeah from the other side, So did you. I
really don't. So they deserve what they get. Jackpot baby
seven and eight. Alright, let's get a game in here.

(32:21):
Let's get it started, because this is one you've been
talking the last couple of weeks going. I don't know
if a win is ever gonna come again. Where them out?
Let's go all day. The Indianapolis Colts sitting at ten
and four, tied for the a f C South lead
alongside your Tennessee Titans. The Pittsburgh Steelers losers. Uh, just

(32:44):
weird to say that now because they were running so well,
but losers of three straight offense is broken. The forty
plus attempts per game from Ben Roethlisberger talked about it
and when it was working, it was all fine to
have the extension of the run game, be those short,
many intermediate passes. Problem is you're dropping a lot of
balls and the yacht isn't there anymore and the margin

(33:07):
for error has been lost. Here Pittsburgh a narrow two
point favorite at home over under, sitting at a smallish
forty three. Lamar this. This is not a great matchup
for a struggling offensive team. This coach team has allowed
three d and thirty four yards total per game this season.

(33:29):
That's the few US and since two thousand and eight
when they did. UM to see the struggles of this
Steelers team, I don't. I gotta say the pressure is
rattling Ben because Ben cannot escape like he once did.
It shows the cracks UM. I will say that they

(33:53):
have history on their side. A team that that starts
and this is pretty interesting tip, but a team starting
a leven wins and and no losses has never lost
four in a row. It's never happened. They lost their kicker.
They have history on their side, But I think that

(34:14):
they might make history today because I don't see them
winning against the way this defense is playing UM and
Philip Rivers is playing good enough football for them to
uh give Pittsburgh Steelers the blue. So I'm i'm I'm
gonna have to be forced to go with the Colts
on today's game. It's strange to just say we got

(34:36):
the battle of the Class of two thousand four going
on here, Philip Rivers playing good football, t Y Hilton
back in the mix. Jonathan Taylor is a man the
run defense for Pittsburgh, not nearly a stout, and as
we've talked about Ben. You know, we talked about Tom
Brady at the start start of the show being able
to push the ball downfield other than one past. Last week,

(34:57):
Ben Roethlisberger couldn't. He was one of third teen on
passes beyond ten yards had the dark to Deonte Johnson.
Otherwise a lot of air, not a lot of arm strength,
which has been the hallmark of Big Ben's career. You
could say all you want that it's only short passes
of three to five yards before or behind the line

(35:18):
of scrimmage. The fact of the matter is he's still
got to go through the motions, still has the arm
and elbow torque, and I have to wonder if that's
not playing games at this point late in the season.
Very true, Very true. That's it. I'm with you. I'm
on Indianapolis. Give me the road, upset, Let's do one
more where about let's go all day? Alright. I give

(35:40):
you this because the live line is still Brown's minus
seven over under sitting at forty three and a half.
The importance here no Jarvis Landry, no Richard Higgins, no
Donovan people Jones, high risk close contacts, and they're all
out uh for today's game against the Jets. As you
heard from Eyes and Isaac Lowen Crown a little bit earlier.

(36:02):
You're also looking at Jeddric Wills, left tackle is out.
You already got another alignment out. The injury list for
the Browns is lengthy, So it really comes down to
do you trust that Baker Mayfield can still get the
ball out to some of these backups that are going
to have to play today. A Marvin Hall and Derek

(36:23):
Willie's come on down you alongside Austin Hooper and Harrison Bryant. Oh,
and those running backs will be huge. I wonder how
many times they'll split Kareem Hunt wide today. Well, that's
what I was about to say, that they have a
superior backfield still even with not having Jarvis and just
having some key key injuries there. I think that the

(36:44):
running attack, um, the power of the Browns will be
too much for for the Jets. I think they'll cover
that seven points. I think they get to win. Well,
they have unlimited power, and the Jets had their for
Bowl last week's so I think that you know, I

(37:05):
made such a dismissive um call on them last week,
and and so I really gave analysis this week because
I certainly did not see them beating the rams. No no,
I I took the points because they were generous and
plentiful in our against the spread, but in terms of
an outright when Oh no, that's one of the great

(37:25):
choke jobs of recent memory. And don't worry, we'll get
to skewer the ramps. Here in a few minutes. Are
our buddy Eric Dickerson on l A Radio here. I
wish I could play off the entire five minute diet
tribe that I heard from him about Jarring Goff, but
we'll summarize it in a couple of minutes. We got

(37:45):
a lot of games still to get to uh, Falcons
and the Chiefs uh. And then while for my beloved
hometown team, a monster game with a new quarterback opposing them.

(39:58):
sixteen CHIP a CHIP week edition for your fantasy players,
and good luck in your fantasy lineups. Perhaps you're off
to a big lead. There are a lot of fantasy
points up on the board here over the last couple
of days. Four games already in the books. Uh, we're
going through the remainder of the schedule on my garment
alongside me the All American, the All Pro, my guy,

(40:21):
LaVar Arrington. Check out his show up on game uh
tend to noon every Saturday alongside t J. Hushman, Zata
plexco Burst, a lot of NFL college knowledge, life and experience,
a lot of mentorship. Uh, and good things to think
about as you go through your weeks. Everybody looking for
some positivity, trying to get through. And uh, look, just
because we were gonna turn the calendar this next week. Uh,

(40:44):
don't be snowed by people that are just saying I
can't wait till twenty is done. No, there's an extension.
As much as we'd love to say, a lot of
this stuff goes away as soon as you flip the calendar.
I don't know that there's any deals anybody's made, uh
with some supreme being that's gonna allow to be so.
So be smart, be safe, take care of each other's
but find the winds, find the positivity as you can.

(41:06):
And if you haven't reach out, reach out to your family.
You never know what your family friends are going through.
Everybody did it back in March and April. Uh, and
maybe because of the holidays you got back in touch.
And that's good. Just keep it going, keep some positive
energy going through. But if I am playing against one
of your players, uh in my fantasy title game, I

(41:27):
wish them nothing but drop passes and turf monsters to
to fell their efforts. That's the worst that you can
do I think I didn't wish him anything terrible. I mean,
I can't do that. I mean, that is somebody's career though. No,
that's well, but but it was okay, But I can

(41:49):
shoot talking about their fantasy. Hey, I'm also trying in
the prediction game here, LaVar, so being right, Mike, you
know what I mean, So go ahead and make you
could want them to drop the balls, but they don't
have to drop now. And that's like I said, with
Minnesota the other day or Detroit yesterday, you still got

(42:09):
guys that are trying to put on tape for future contracts,
and you know what, they put a lot of bad
tape out there as well as Uh, well, we already
made fun of the Vegas Raiders and their defense. So
let's move on to another team that had great promise,
great potential, one of the dark horses in the NFC. Uh,
and the lights never came on. What about let's go

(42:32):
all day gets that Chiefs. It's a great talent assembled there.
But unlike the Avengers, I mean, I guess it's the
end of civil war where they go their separate ways
and there's always a phone problem. Is nobody answered the
call here Julio Jones still out Dark Dark Quest, Dinard's
out with the quad, Alex mac off the line with
a concussion, James Carpenter with a groin. Other than that,

(42:54):
how how was your day for the Chiefs? No Clyde
Edwards Hilaire done for the year, So Leavy on fantasy
would be champions. Fire them up, Tyreek Hill and Frank
Clark will play chief Stead and a half point favorites
here they got you with the hook fifty three? Is
your over under? Uh? Do the Chiefs need to start

(43:15):
playing with some sense of urgency? Well? Yes, I think so,
and you're always going to get everybody's best shot. But
the one thing that I realized watching the Chiefs, they
find such a rhythm seemingly in every game, and maybe
we have only seen them maybe stumble and wobble wobble,

(43:38):
but only fall one time. Look at that. You you
wanted to talk about weevils? Yeah? Did you like that? Yeah?
I didn't throw weebel in there. But but now that
you're thinking about me, Weevil's wobble but they don't fall
down there you go, Uh, yeah, I think that the
Kansas City Chiefs um definitely will be playing with a
sense of urgency because they have so much They have

(44:02):
so much expectation on them at this point. And you
know what I realized watching them is it's on them.
That expectation that's on them, that high expectation is them
putting it on them. It's not the outside world. It's
not the media, it's them. It's Eric b Enemy, it's
the it's Patrick Mahomes. They find a way to dismantle

(44:23):
your team. And that's just what it is. And that's
not going to stop today. And and honestly, I'm not
going to bet against them anymore. I'm not going to
go against them anymore. That you said the line is
to take the Kansas City Chiefs to cover it. Yeah,
I'm I'm in the Uh. The hook gets me on
the other side. So I'll go with the Falcons begrudgingly.

(44:45):
Final game that we can get into this hour really quickly.
Out let's go all that Jaguars, So we'll we'll save
the George Kittle as a separate empty coming up uh
in about five five to seven minutes for him now, Uh,
Jaguars are gonna start. Mike Glennon, you remember him being

(45:07):
in camp with the Bears, back in seen Bears eight
and a half point favorites on the road, Mitchell Trobinsky
and Laser I have got things going forty six and
a half the over under Bears expecting to have Allen Robinson,
he's been on the injury list and a lot of
questionable tags, but all expected to play except for Buster

(45:28):
Screen and Jalen Johnson on that defense. Eight and a half.
They're winning the game. Do they cover? They'll win the game.
I don't think they cover. That's a lot of points
i'll take. I'll take the Jags. But now actually you
know they're gonna get Glenned to fire one up and
they'll run one back for six. I'll take the Bears

(45:49):
all day long. We continue the games of Week sixteen.
It's win a time in the National Football League. Don't
listening to Fox Sports for hey everybody, we our two
of the program week sixteen. If you're National Football League,
this is Fox Football Sunday Mike Harmen alongside the all

(46:11):
American the King of the Mammals himself, Love our Arrington.
Good morning everyone. Here we are each and every week
Sunday mornings, LaVar and I breaking down all the games
those that have transpired those yet to come, and obviously
offering some thoughts on what we expect to see in
the day ahead. And it's the chest match of the

(46:31):
final couple of weeks. Trying to figure out motivations, right,
So I'm looking at draft stock. We were talking about
the Bears and the Jaguars a few minutes ago LaVar
and well, the Jaguars currently are in possession of the
number one overall pick, and they bench Gardner Minshew once again.
Uh to put Mike Glennan in that would say to me,

(46:52):
we like Gardner Minshew. He gives us a better chance
to win. So we have to lose because we want
to keep the number one overall pick because we did
not expect the Jets to beat the Rams to give
it to us. Am I reading too much into I don't.
I don't think at this point it would be even
beyond the realm of a reason to say, why try

(47:14):
to lose? You're just not good, That's true, You're you're
bad as it is. How hard is it to play?
I mean, for those unaware, you know, just talking about
the end of an NFL season, I mean, obviously we
all have different parts two quarters, right, and whatever business
you're in, you can relate it to your own work lives. Uh,
there's always some big project that as you get to

(47:36):
the end. You know, they always wait for folks to
get sick, right, They always talk about bride's post wedding,
all the stress, all the planning, whatever else. Uh. Yeah,
they might enjoy the honeymoon and then immediately all the collapse,
all that energy takes them down. What's it like getting
to the end of an NFL season, especially if you
know you're not proceeding to the to the plenty of

(47:59):
those moments. Now, I wasn't I wasn't trying to get
to that. It was just you could pick from one
of them. Uh. But but I mean we've all had
them wherever. Five out of my six years in Washington,
we had to have that that reasoning um going into it.
It's it's not easy, Mike, especially if you're playing. I mean,

(48:24):
I guess I could imagine it being, you know, not
fun being in a very good weather area as well,
but it I can remember one year I jacked my
knee up against Arizona at home and it was driving
pouring ice rain. It was freezing cold, and neither one

(48:49):
of us was going to the playoffs, and this was
the last game. And to say the least, I still
think a lot of guys go into the game with pride.
I know I did. I went into the game with
a lot of pride um to continue to play. UM.
I was a pro bowler and and I just I

(49:10):
just tried to maintain the standard of how I played,
because in a team sport, if you play your tail off, UM,
you can only you can only handle and dictate what
you do. You can try to bring others with you,
but ultimately they have to make a decision that they
want to to be UM all that they can be

(49:31):
as well. So I can always recall I could recall
that game in particular more than any of the other ones,
UM because it was just so cold, and it just
seemed like it was colder than than any other game
that that I had played in that season, and it wasn't,

(49:53):
but it was. But it just sticks with you, know sure,
I mean, because you're seeing the end you in part
of you you, no matter how professionally trying to be,
because that's the other thing, right you guys, blood, sweat
and tears. From the beginning of O T A. S
All the way through. You know, you have to trust
the other guys, you know, in your you know, eleven
man unit to be able to do their job and

(50:15):
to carry it through the final whistle. Uh. Well, I'm
sure a couple of weeks. We did not have an
indoor facility my entire time in Washington, d C. And
I thought to me, I thought a lot of the
reason why our teams struggled so much down the stretch
is because we did not have an indoor facility. That's unconscionable.

(50:41):
It's interesting. Well, well we'll save that for a podcast. Yeah,
we'll say that for a podcast though, because you can
then knockers. Uh, but it's Sunday morning, fec compliancy and
all they that's all good. I don't I don't have
any hard feelings or ill will I do on your
behalf your career. But you know, it is what it is.

(51:02):
I was part of, I was a part of the way,
so you know, but it is what it is. It's
not fun to answer your question back to the original
um question, It's not fun being a loser at the
pro pro ranks. It's not fun. It was the first
time right there at the end, Well, it was the

(51:23):
first time in my life, I think about it's the
first time in my life when I got to the pros.
I was a winner in youth league. I was a
winner in high school. I was a winner in college,
not a not a national champion winner. But you don't
have to be winning a championship to be a winner.
I mean, I think and in my my high school career,

(51:43):
I started four years, and I think we we went.
I think I lost a total of six games in
four years. Um. In college, my freshman year, I didn't
play very much. But my my sophomore in junior year, UM,
I think I lost a total of five games. And

(52:06):
in college, so I had and I had never lost.
You know, we didn't win at all, but we just
I had never lost. I didn't know what losing felt
like until I got to Washington, d C. And that
earning to process that is a very hard thing. That's hard, man. Well,
I mean I could equate it for every everybody out there, right,

(52:28):
I mean, maybe you you hit a point academically wherever
you went to school, Like I went to college. I
blessed to go to Northwestern. But you had a lot
of people that were number one in their class from
every town USA. And then they came there and all
of a sudden, everybody's just as smart at you as
you are. Uh. And some folks handled that well, some folks, uh,

(52:49):
not so much. And my winner semester, you, they were
gone because they were not happy about that. But I'm
not either. But it's it's to that same same idea. Right.
At some point, you know, whether you're playing in an
athletic squad or academics whatever, you might hit that point

(53:09):
where the ceiling is finally reached. All right, let's get
back into the games of week six. Team. Sorry, LaVar,
I did not mean to you know, it was like
awkward silence after um you you did that, but you
know it's I know, I know you're intent. I had
nothing but love for you, buddy. All right, let's get

(53:29):
back to it. What about let's go all day Texas.
All right? When last week saw Ryan Finley, he was
beating the Pittsburgh Steelers. So now we have Bengals and Texans,
two teams that are uh, that's it. One game separates
them in the standings. Houston a seven point favorite, forty

(53:50):
four and a half year over under. Obviously, Houston decimated
in the wide receiving corps. We're looking a lot more
of UH Kuti h in company for the injury report
for for this one. UH No Duke Johnson H neck
injury for the Bengals. Tyler Boyd can cust last week
he is out UH and missing a couple of linebackers

(54:11):
Evans and Wilson. UH. For the Texans, it's QTI and
we're looking at Aikin's UH had a questionable tag on him,
so we'll keep an eye on that as the morning
goes on. But I have to believe Deshaun Watson greater
than Ryan Family. Yeah, I'm right with Desaun Watson today.
That's the one name I'm gonna hitch my wagon too

(54:32):
on this game. What's what's the points for seven? We
don't even get the hook in this one. I don't
think they cover. But now I'm gonna take Citcinnatti with
the points as well. Yeah, all right, next, well, am out,
let's go all day. Broncos at chur Chairs. Joey Bosa
out for this one. Philip Lindsay out for the Broncos.

(54:53):
Not expecting to see Keenan Allen last week, he told
fantasy owners to start him. There's a lot of would
be lawsuits. I think, uh coming again these guys knowing
that they're really not gonna play, or that they're going
full tilt when they start going on to social media,
uh and start getting all up in in people's information,
I think they're hitting a dangerous part giving the partnerships
with all the gambling and uh fantasy sites. But I'll

(55:17):
save that for a podcast another time. The Chargers three
point favorites justusin Herbert and company against Drew Lock, Austin
Ekeler obviously back and a force in the backfield for
the Chargers and trying to get some momentum here down
the stretch. You know, a little too late. This is
the Philip Now it's the old Philip Rivers thing like

(55:38):
we're gonna run up a bunch of wins at the
end of the season to fall just short. Well, I
think that that's what's going to happen. I look at
this team. It's interesting that the Chargers are trying to
figure out how to win. If you look at their
rankings and ratings total offense, their eleven just outside of
the ten defensive, they're in the top ten there in ninth,

(56:03):
passing their seventh situational football there thirty one, there are
and frown on. But there there are some real positives
about this team. I mean total offense. The Broncos are Um.
I just I think that the Chargers will have a

(56:24):
day today. Um. Although I like some of the things
that I see out of the Broncos, I'm I tend
to look at the the Chargers and and feel as
though they'll be able to win the game. Yeah, for
all of their their issues and losses, defensively, they've played
pretty well at time. They're like bad team in the league, right,
But that is the Chargers sex appeal with Justin Herbert,

(56:47):
no question about it. A lot of talk last night
as to a tongue of Voloa got benched for Ryan
Fitzpatrick for the second time, saying, yeah, they probably should
have drafted that guy. It was not He's nice, I'll
tell you that. But I don't think that they took
the wrong guy. I just think that Flora is is
just he's doing things his wife. I don't think that

(57:09):
benching toa is saying that you took the wrong guy.
I think benching toa is you still have culture to
build and in Miami and that's why you did it.
And for what it's worth, there's still culture that needs
to be built in in l A as well. Um,
even with how well um the young quarterback Herbert is playing. Yeah,

(57:32):
it's still a lot of building. Will see uh probable
coaching change on the horizon here in Los Angeles, will
see what what becomes of that from Miami. Remember they
still have all of those picks from Houston coming up
as well, uh as having tongue LA. They just decided, Hey,
we can win now, and we've got a shot. We've
got the ultimate closure to come in from the bullpen

(57:54):
with a h He's got no conscience right because he's
at the end of his run. He knows where is
fl career is, so he just goes out and starts
winging it, and even with a guy on his face mask.
But enough about the Dolphins. Let's get one more in.
Turn him out, let's go all day. Oh, here we go,

(58:14):
U Jared Goff. Just when we start to love him, uh,
he takes away from you once again. The Seattle Seahawks offensively,
it's been a long long time since we saw that
as a machine. And I'm not counting the Jets game.
That doesn't count. Uh, Seattle and narrow one point favorite
here forty seven and a half is you're over under

(58:34):
in this one. D J Dallas out, that's not moving
the needle, Mike Ia Patti, Uh, the guard is doubtful
for this one. And Cam Akers, the running back who
came on the scene for the Rams, the rookie, he
is out with an ankle injury. That means you're going
back to a split backfield there for the Rams. Uh.

(58:56):
Just when I started to praise, I'm LaVar, I get
back to je and golf not being able to make throws?
Is it because Sean McVeigh doesn't trust him to make it? Mike,
I'm gonna put this in the way that a top
chateau would would put it. Me not trust none of them,
rude boys play. I don't trust either one of these teams, man,

(59:19):
I don't trust them. I look at it, it's the
perfect matchup game because neither one of them are trustworthy
to me. Um and and so if I got to
look at the inconsistencies of what both teams have brought
to the table, I got it. What's the numbers, what's

(59:39):
the number of at home. I think Seattle. I think
Seattle will win. I'm gonna take Seattle. But when I
tell you guys out there listening, I don't trust any
of them. I don't trust them not one bit. They're
too inconsistent and like you said, when you want to

(01:00:01):
be positive about them, like I was really getting to
a point of where I got comfortable with saying that
the Rams were where this team that you know goes
out and loses to the Jets last week, and Seattle
has has not lived up to what they've needed to
live up to as well. But I'm gonna give dangerous

(01:00:23):
rust the benefit of the doubt in this game. Um
and I think that he's the difference in the game.
So I'm gonna go with Seattle. Yeah, I'll take Seattle.
Uh And I think it's the defensive front that gets
it done against Jared Goff. That's what I'm banking here.
And keep in mind, they did play and and the

(01:00:43):
Rams did win the first the first meeting here at
so FIEW. The return about what's curious to me Seattle
offensively outside of that Jets game, right, they win forty three,
They've won three of their last four, uh two in
one against the NFC East that we made so much

(01:01:04):
fun of. Uh. They beat the Eagles seventeen, lost to
the Giant seventeen twelve, and then a narrow escape against
Washington and Dwayne Haskins twenty to fifteen. Uh, last week.
So there there you have it. To put it in
its basis terms. He's Lavara Rington, I'm Mike Carmen. This
is Fox Football Sunday Company Alive from the guy. Go

(01:01:25):
Fox Sports Radio Studios. Easy to say a fift or
more on your car insurance with Geico, So go to
Geico dot com get yourself a free rate quote. Coming
up next, we'll get into Dwayne Haskins in the week
that was uh and the week that is here. No
Christian McCaffrey again. Uh, no fantasy Uh, post traumatic stress
disorder for me at all. He's Lavara Rington on Mike

(01:01:46):
Carmen and this is Fox. Don't listening, no Fox Sports Rado.
Got my gloves sticks out. It's Fox Football Sunday, getting
to work out in on a Sunday morning, verbally preaching
nollee uh and getting you ready for the games of
Week sixteen. If you're on the roads, be be safe,
be uh be good to your your fellow drivers out there.

(01:02:08):
I know a lot of folks hit the roads. Uh,
and we're traveling Grandma's house, right. I give you a
couple of pointers on how to be nice to your
fellow drivers. Well, part of it is just get off
the road. I think we're a team at all out
there as fellow drivers. I don't like any of you know.
Well there's that too. Uh. Yeah, I'm just a you know,

(01:02:32):
actually use your signals if you want. I hate if
you don't use your signals. I just don't like drivers, man,
I don't. I just don't. Well that's us living here
in southern California is not going to help that. Let's
just move on from it because it is Sunday and
I don't want to get into Yeah, okay, just thanking
folks for being being part of the family in their

(01:02:54):
cars on the I Heart radio app serious XM Channel
A D three are four D plus affiliates nationwide. Thank
you to the program directors who have us on and
let us be part of your lives on a Sunday morning,
whether you're making breakfast, walking the dog, getting the kids, uh,
when fixing the next thing that you bought them that
requires some assembly. Good luck to you. I remember those days.

(01:03:16):
I don't do that anymore, which is good. You may
still be doing a little of that. I'm out. I
I opted out of those. Like you're old enough, you
can fix figure it out yourself. Here's a screwdriver. Is
that does that too much? That? I mean, that's all right.
You learn, you live and you learn. No, that's just
it right, independent work, independent thought, independent learning. I mean,

(01:03:41):
it's just good trying to make them independent and resourceful
young women. That that's my daughter made me. Speaking of
independent and resourceful, yeah, my daughter mate. She was hungry
and made a snack last night. She's like, Dad, I'm
going to make breakfast sandwiches. Do you guys want one?
And I was like yeah, So I'm just thinking now,

(01:04:03):
I'm going to get this simple you know bread with
some you know bacon, and maybe if we're good, I'll
get an egg and Mike she brought out like a creation. Yeah,
I've been learning from dad. Then it was amazing. It
had turkey on it, it had it had the bacon,

(01:04:26):
the bread, the way she made the bridge, it was
almost like a like a French toast. But it wasn't
it didn't taste like French toast. It tasted like almost
like egg. May well see, because that would have gotten
your egg in right making some bread shoast. You're right

(01:04:46):
because there was no different watching you, and that's better
than the old p s A that we we watched
growing up that talked about what you were learning from
mom and dad and watching. Wow, you just got me there.
You're right. She put the egg in the bridge in
the bread man, so it was there, but this way
it wasn't all runny, so it wasn't messy she was
thinking it was. It was one of the more enjoyable

(01:05:10):
breakfast sandwiches that I've had. We'll always remember that it's
gonna taste that much better when you didn't have to
make it. You may have had to buy the agreement ingredients,
but your time was never really hungry after I cook. Well, no,
that's just the thing. Uh and and dealing type two diabetic.
I've I've talked about it a little bit. My sense
of smell has been compromised by that for going on

(01:05:33):
eighteen months. So it's got nothing to do with the
you know, the recent uh pandemic or any of that stuff.
But one of the things that I was actually telling
my daughters was, Uh, usually when you smell something as
long as you do, you don't want to eat it.
When you're done, you've had it. Whereas now I don't
smell it. So uh, I'm at the trough. Every chance

(01:05:55):
I get, bad job by me. All right, let's get
back into the games going coming up, come out, let's
go all day Washington, like I said, a big one
coming up now. Uh. Look, we're we're still in a
position here. The the NFC East is what it is.
We've had a fun time with it. Washington still sits

(01:06:16):
the top at six and eight. So an opportunity for
Dwayne Haskins, that's right, an opportunity here. No, Terry McLaren. Uh,
the ankle injury, you're gonna keep it out. Thomas Davis
out with a knee. Uh, expecting Antonio Gibson back. So
that's a win on the Washington side of things. I
mentioned a few minutes ago. Uh, No, Christian McCaffrey, go figure.

(01:06:38):
Russell o'coun with the calf injury is doubtful for this one.
A couple on the questionable side of defense, Burns Larkin
and Roy for the Panthers Washington a narrow one point favorite.
Dwayne Haskins in the news a ton uh for well,
he had his captaincy stripped. Decision making has been problematics

(01:07:00):
at least. But if you're a fantasy participant, you've got
Logan Thomas, you're feeling good because the targets are still
flowing for him ten thirteen for one oh one last week,
So you've got opportunity there. Pathers, we know you've got
a lot of offensive buyer power along alongside Teddy Bridgewater,
but their defense is suspect. That's why I'll take Haskins,

(01:07:22):
even with reservations of his decision making on a large scale,
I'll take him to win the game forty one and
a half as your over under. I kind of throw
out a lot of the things that would would lead
you towards picking the Washington football team and logic, because

(01:07:42):
if you know the history between UH Carolina and Washington,
you know this is going to be a truly hard
fought game. It's a mixing and a messing of fan bases,
and it's almost like, if you know the history of it,
the Carolina Panthers are almost like the nephew of sorts

(01:08:08):
to the Washington football team. It's like, we're the real team.
You're a newcomer, You're you're who. I don't want to say,
you're as and weed, but they are um considered to
be just you know, you came in and you're in
Carolina and you're there. But that's our still our fan base,

(01:08:28):
that's still Washington's fan base. So this is gonna be
a hard fought game. And I gotta be honest with you,
I really want to say that Carolina this is a
trap game for Washington. But but with that being said,
if they win this game, they get into the playoffs

(01:08:49):
after a tumultuous start of a season for for the
Washington football team. And I'm still want to continue to
lean on the fact that even though the wayne aired
on on poor judgment, that defensive front is is just
their terrors, and I don't think that Carolina is good

(01:09:12):
enough to handle what those guys are going to bring
their way. So I almost look at it as it's
a foregone conclusion that even with the confusion that's taken
place with the quarterback, the defense will be good enough
to carry them through. So I'll take them and the points.
I will back that analysis, Alex Smith. The calfe injury

(01:09:34):
doesn't look like it's gonna be good enough for him
to get on the field. He'll test it out pregame,
but all expectations for Haskins and look, you want to
talk about a pressure pack situation. Uh. The fortunate thing
for him, he's got another Ohio state guy that could
help lead the way. As you mentioned on that front,
Young is a man, youngest youngest dude in franchise history

(01:09:56):
to make the Pro Bowl. Congratulations baby boy. Yeah, we
can talk talk about it from the organization as a whole,
and you and I do in bits and pieces of
how they operate. But Jason Wright and the football side
of things, and they're pushing in the right direction, and
certainly the defense is a formidable uh force here as
we're closing out the regular season, I will take them

(01:10:19):
minus the point just winning the game out right. Now,
it's time to go over to Isaac Looan Crown. We
still have four games to roll through here at Fox
Sports Radio Fox Football Sunday. The first our guy at
Isaac Lowancron is gonna give you the lowdown on what's
going on. Michael LaVar It is a sweet seventeen for
NFL fans, I and Rappaport and Tom Pellisera reporting the
NFL indeed expected to go to a seventeen game regular

(01:10:41):
season beginning next year. Rapp report also reporting the NFL's
find the Baltimore Ravens two D fifty grand for COVID
protocol violations that led to their outbreak earlier this season.
Cleveland Brown's left tackle Jedrick Wills downgraded to out for
their game today against the Jets because of a non
COVID related illness on the field. Saturday night, the Raiders

(01:11:01):
took a late twenty three lead over the Dolphins on
a field goal, so the Raiders defense needed to hold
Miami's offense and backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick for am easily
nineteen seconds. And the one thing, man, this is the
flesh shot right here. You know what I'm saying. And
you're either gonna explode onto the scene or you're just
gonna be like am deals. You know what I'm saying. Fitzpatrick,

(01:11:26):
stepisode the pocket got hold on open steps out of bounds.
Are you kidding me? I thought it was they pulled. Yeah, No,
this might give the Dolphins their chance to win this
football game. Pits. He got his face mask torn off
range Jimmy Cefalo, Joe Rose, and Jason Taylor the call

(01:11:52):
on w q A m with a cameo by John Gruden.
That's set up Jason Sanders of the Dolphins with six
seconds up, so we'll be forty four yards and he
is ten of twelve from this distance this year. All
the style kick is up and it's good. I'm gonna
win this game with one second left. It's Miami. It's

(01:12:19):
goods Wait, no, do you do? You want to see
if I can find uh Brent's call? Yeah, we'll find Brent.
All right, Yeah, there's your assignment. Well, can we have
the LaVar re enactment though of that? It's good, it's good,
it's good, nicely done. So you you equate that to

(01:12:43):
a Marv Albert related calls that well, because Marv always
make sure he puts that in there, like there, like that.
All right, you want to hear you want to hear
the Brent Musberger. Brent Musburger. Real quick, here we go
with our beloved colleague, Thinking Kennedy alongside him in the booth.
This will be a forty four yarder for the win

(01:13:06):
for the wind. Snap is good, hold is good, is good.
And somehow the Dolphins and they're celebrating on the field
smooth ones a fan ones a pro. I mean, I
ain't trying to take a shout out the other guy,

(01:13:26):
but one was just smooth, Like Brick is just smooth.
You know he's He's called plenty of LaVar Arrington games
and he's just smooth in college and the pros, I
would imagine. But I will say this, well more so college.
I will say this, he definitely loved me like I
definitely did things that got him to come out of
the smooth voice. And I mean now, and you know

(01:13:49):
who else I really loved, um God rest his soul,
Keith Jackson, that big horse LaVar Arrington world boar the
Nitta Lions. Yes, now that was nicely done, and that
shots out to him, respect to him, I mean godly
talk about a voice of college football. Yeah, no question

(01:14:12):
on a Saturday afternoon. Whoa boy by the way, well,
I mean bretent Musburger would have been yelling jackpot like
like a jackass if they'd won. So don't give me
the smooth professional that was the Oh, you just kicked
me in the nether region. So I'm gonna talk really low. Oh.
I sense a little tension now developing between you and LaVar,

(01:14:33):
Like I just say, on the winning side, guys are
all excited, and then he was, you know, low key. Uh,
by the way, it's here, is here, is here. We
have games to get all right. Let me just throw
on this one ten all right. So you know that
famous picture of Joe Namath by the pool before Super
Bowl three, yes on a lounge chair right next to

(01:14:54):
him one of the media interviewing him, a young Brent Musburger. Absolutely,
So I'll duck in forty Niners out of the Cardinals
twenty to twelve Yesterday, College football FBC Mortgage, Cura Bowle,
Liberty over twelve four night Coastal Caroline and overtime thirty
seven thirty four NBA Blazers over the Rockets and overtime
one one six C. J McCollum forty four, the game

(01:15:16):
winning three with six point nine to play. James Harden
forty four points, seventeen assists in a losing cosfells back
to you, Thank you, Isaac. Follow Isaac on Twitter at
Isaac lowan crown, rapid fire. We got a few games
we gotta finish up. Let's go barrow ab out. Let's
go all day, Bill Patriots Hills minus seven on the
road at New England over under. The New England Patriots

(01:15:38):
will not be in the playoffs this year, finally vanquished
by the Buffalo Bills, who have clinched with their eleven
and three record a playoff birth Josh Allen, Uh, finally
getting some some love that wasn't there, and certainly his
game took off to a whole other level. New England's
defense still stingy at time, but offensively they're a mess. Uh.

(01:16:01):
This will be an interesting game for a few different reasons.
But I think the Bills get it in a close one.
So the minus seven, um, yeah, I think that that's
that's Uh, the Bills win and take the points. There

(01:16:21):
you go, Patriots defense. I think it's good enough to
uh to hang around. I'm in a green and it's
a pride thing, and it's a Bill Belichick saying, hey,
we're not that far off. They've given up three points
on the season. Buffalo, by way of contrast, next them out,

(01:16:42):
Let's go all day Giants and Ravens. All right, Ravens
are ten and a half point favorite, still trying to
get into the playoffs. Things got a little messier with
that uh Miami win yesterday. That was one of these
side effects here, LaVar of that's their tenth win of
the season, and now you got a little bit of
a squeeze. Cleveland at ten wins, and we talked about

(01:17:02):
them earlier. Even with all of those UH COVID related
and illness related players missing today, they've still got the
jets here. You've got the Giants that we know defensively
can hang for a while. But I gotta think the
run game and the fact that you've got your full
complimented receivers back Andrews down the seam that uh you

(01:17:23):
take care of business. Just a question of whether the
ten and the hook is too much. I don't. I
don't trust the Giants offense against this, this Ravens defense,
and I think that that's going to be the difference.
I think that the Giants defense will do some good
things today, but I just don't think that this offense
gives enough hope in the scenario where they can pull

(01:17:45):
the upset. So UM, I don't I don't what's the
points ten and a half? That's high. I don't. I
don't know that they will beat them by more than
ten and a half. Um, I would say they don't cover. Yeah,
this was a tough one because you're you're just looking

(01:18:06):
at one play and Golden tates out, but still wondering
if Daniel Jones is gonna make an appearance here or
is it Colt McCoy. We know in the backfield you've
got Wayne Goldman. Uh and the receiving corps is is
not world beating Baltimore defense perhaps just a bit too much,
not the turnover machine that they once were, But I

(01:18:28):
think good enough to get it here and to cover
the number going away. I think you just get an
extra mistake, regardless of the quarterback. All Right, we have
two more games that we've got to get to. We've
got the Mammals of the Week and the Fantasy Ninja's
left to go. Uh a lot in the final twenty
minutes of the show. Stay with us here on Fox
Sports Radio. He's the LaVar rngine on my garment, and

(01:18:49):
this is Fox Football Sunday. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Great Eggs, Welcome back. In it's week sixteen. If your
National Football League Fox Football Sunday Mike Harmen alongside the
all American lave oar Arrington. Uh. If you missed any
of today's show, that it'll be up on Apple Podcasts,

(01:19:09):
the I Heart Radio app, Grab that Grab the Eye
Watcher Flex Fantasy podcast that Dan Buyer and I do,
and of course grab up on Game Yesterday's show. LaVar
Arrington are esteemed, uh colleague here on Sunday mornings. My
guy on the other end of this line, t J Houshmnzata,
Plaxco Burrus Uh, some deep dives, some stories uh and

(01:19:32):
you know personal uh messages you know, to kind of
relate to the stories of the day, perhaps in a
different way than you've heard, trying to change how things
work here a little bit in the radio and media space,
with a different perspective than you might have heard elsewhere.
So check it out two hours each and every Saturday,

(01:19:53):
ten am to noon Pacific time, and then the podcast
goes up there anything else you want to plug out
that well done? Well you got you gotta flex, I gotta,
I gotta get back to the gym. Oh wait, I'm
in California. There are no gyms. I gotta I gotta
build my own. So bit by bit, I'm finding more
and more materials to work with. So that's it. Strength

(01:20:14):
and well, that's the thing I gotta be. No, I
gotta stepper sitting next to my TV. Now, TV is
not going on unless I'm just riding that thing. Uh,
Quadzilla will return, all right. We got a couple more
games to finish up, uh, including some heavyweights about let's
go all the this is this is gonna be a

(01:20:36):
fun one. Packers had eleven and three. Uh, they've got
their playoff berth clinch trying still for the number one
overall seed. Remember, only the number one overall seed gets
a buy uh this year. And you got Tennessee on
the other side at ten and four still battling for
the a f C South. We know Derrick Henry, Ryan
Tannehill and company will be on their game. I would

(01:20:57):
expect a lot of Derrick Henry and this one as
the Green Bay ground defense that has its issues. LaVar
set up the play action. Maybe take some shots down
field fifty four. You're over under the Packers favored by three. Yeah.
I think this one's a straight up I think that
when you look at this game, they're so well matched.

(01:21:22):
This will probably be the funniest game to watch um
this week, this slate of games. But I just I'm
just not sure. Like first off, you have two contrasting
styles of running backs in Aaron Jones and Derrick Henry.
I love this matchup. I'm going to enjoy watching it. Um.

(01:21:47):
I just think that the Packers are a more complete team.
But I think that the Titans are a more physical team.
I think the physicality wins out today. So I'm gonna
take Tennessee straight up. Who I love it, upset minded
on the road against the Packers. Uh. Let's see, I

(01:22:07):
don't want to pick the Packers, right obviously given my
NFC North uh robbery Bears Packers Week seventeen. Already, I'll
take the Packers to win a narrow one last second
field goal gets it done. One more game. What about
let's go all day Eagles and Cowboys? All right, you
got the Eagles. Jalen Hurts running amuck and I mean that,

(01:22:31):
uh in in the truest sense of the word. The
run game with he and Miles Sanders. Suddenly on point,
DeShawn Jackson will be available today. Can you believe that.
I think he was jealous that Nelson Aguilar was making
big plays for the Raiders and decided, you need to
get back on the field for the Cowboys that are
expected to have Ezekiel Elliott back in just to cloud
things up for fantasy owners. Sorry, guys, you're not getting

(01:22:52):
the easy walk with Tony Pollard today because well, Zeke's
gonna be there just enough to mess it up. Philly
three point road favorites fifty year over under LaVar. I
think I'm gonna go straight up and I think that
I'm going to take the Cowboys in this one. I
think I think Jalen Hurts has done an excellent job

(01:23:15):
of showing and giving hope, showing that he can get
the job done. But I don't think this is a
good Eagles team. I love Miles Sanders, of course I
love Sanders. He's one of my favorites too, wink wink,
right from where I'm from and went to the same
college as me as well. But uh, I just think

(01:23:37):
that Dallas is going to figure out a way to
win this game, and it's going to be interesting because
I don't know if Washington is going to take the
division by the throat today or not. UM. I picked
them to win, but I'm not sure that they're gonna
take it by the throat. They could lose the game. UM,

(01:23:59):
so it'll be inter thing if they both lose. I
think I think if Dallas lose loses um or excuse me,
I think if if Philly loses, I think Washington still
clinches um a playoff birth. I could be wrong with
the math there, So here we go. We got Washington
at six and eight, Dallas five nine, Giants five and nine,

(01:24:20):
Philly's sitting at four, nine and one. I'm taking the
Eagles to win this one. I'm cutting through it. U
Jalen Hurts uh superstar running the ball, and your guy
Miles Sanders Dallas is gonna get this one. I like it,
and we want to make things interesting. Well you know
what me? I I like chaos in between the White Lions.
All right, your mammals of the week, Yeah, I'm gonna

(01:24:42):
I'm gonna go with Justin Herbert. He's gonna rock out
as a mammal. And I'm gonna go with Deshaun Watson.
I'm gonna stake quarterback quarterback heavy on my mammals this week.
I think both of them are geared primed to have
mammal mammal moments this this weekend. I dig those selections.
Deshaun Watson still playing, playing hard and putting up numbers.

(01:25:05):
That's a team that hasn't quit, which you gotta respect
that given the number of injuries and issues they've had,
the coaching change, etcetera. All right, from my ninja on
the weight going a little bit uh deeper as we flow,
I am going to look to the running back position.
I got Antonio Gibson coming back against Carolina a bad

(01:25:26):
run defense, and will take a shot there. We've got
the wonderful world of Deonte Johnson going up against the Colts. Why,
stories of redemption, LaVar, stories of excitement and grand adventures.
And then I gotta go back to the quarterback position.
But I'm gonna let George Kittle set it up. I
will say this, I did grow up a Bears fan,

(01:25:48):
and the fact that we helped the Bears a little
bit this makes me a little happier. So Bears. But
thanks guys. There you go. Mitchell Trabisky, everybody against your
Jacksonville Jaguars. He comes in as a Q me one
for fantasy purposes. This week, he is my Geico Fantasy
play of the day. Hey, do you own a rent

(01:26:10):
your home? Sure you do. Unfortunately, Geico makes it easy
to bundle your home and car insurance. That's a good
thing too, because having a home is hard work. So
you can go to Geico dot com get a quote,
see how much you could save Geico dot com. It's easy.
So one of the games we just previewed, I think
it's probably the one that you want to sit and watch,
get yourself a nice frosty beverage and and hang out watching.

(01:26:32):
Derrick Henry and Aaron Jones helped lead their squads. Aaron Jones,
it's gonna be fun, man, I'm gonna enjoy that one.
I remember getting mocked last year trying to call him
a top ten back. Nobody wanted to die on board that.
Oh how it changes in a year. You've been He's
LaVar Arrington. I'm my car man. This is Fox Football Sunday.
