Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. You talk about a
wild conclusion to an even wilder season. We will get
into all of that coming up here in just a
couple of moments from now. That guy right over there's
Brady Quinn. I'm Jonas Knox. This is is Fox Sports Radio.
You can hang out with us. Is always on the
I Heart Radio app and on every single one of
(00:22):
our Fox Sports Radio affiliates. Wherever you are taking part
in the program, we appreciate you doing so. We will
take you all the way up until eleven pm Eastern time,
eight o'clock Pacific here on Fox Sports Radio. But never
mind all that, and never mind me make some noise
for the great Brady Quinn. Can I just say this,
(00:46):
I mean, Jonas, it's always a pleasure to do a
three hour show with you, let let alone maybe a
segment with you. Yeah, last night, what the hell happened? Man?
You were supposed to give me a call. I was
supposed to give you a live feed and feel for
what it's like to be at a BCS I should say,
excuse me a New Year's six game, and I never
(01:10):
got a text, never got a call from you. Happened
last night? Yea, So it kind of an an odd circumstance.
We got into the final hour, Bucky Brooks and myself,
and then we had some some things pop up. We
were getting on the show, had you know, a couple
of technical difficulties, and and then it just escaped me,
totally got away from me, to be honest with you,
and then I figured, you know, it was already so
(01:32):
close to kick off, and uh, yeah, it just uh
you just stopped giving a crap, is what you're saying. No,
that's not true. Yeah, you know it sounds a little
bit like that. It's just there's a lot of navigation
that goes on. You want to know why it actually
worked out for the better? Why is that? Because as
you would expect, and I know you know me, and
(01:53):
I know you know, I'm a guy who likes to
you know, I keep track of the clock. I like
to be on time. But I have but I had
my wife with me, Alicia, and as you would know,
and you and I have talked about this, probably not
on air, because lord knows, uh, there there might be
a bus driving by lem gonn get run over. But
(02:15):
we we weren't on time. We were late, okay, And
and most likely I would have not been able to
give you the live look, the live field that you're
looking for from the Orange Bowl in South Florida because
we were late getting to the game, because my wife
was late as you, as you can imagine, it took
a little extra longer to get ready than she anticipated. Yeah.
(02:35):
Uh and and I can just see the frustration, and
I can just tell that you were very frustrated at that.
Just just oh No, I wasn't frustrated at all by that.
I was more surprised that there was no call, no
text from my buddy Jonas Knocks, who I thought like
we talked Friday. I thought we talked Saturday. I thought
(02:55):
we I thought we do a show together Sunday. I
thought we could get three days in a row together.
When we didn't. The first thought of my head was,
he doesn't care anymore. He really doesn't. He wants he
wants the show all for himself. He wants Bucky Brooks
all for himself. He is not caring about the chemistry
that we've developed on Sunday nights here on Fox Sports Radio. Listen,
(03:17):
It's not you, it's me, Okay, I don't I don't
want you to I just I don't want you to
to look anything after the gift you got me for
the holidays. You think you think I could sit here
and just reject an opportunity to talk with you. It
just the show got wild. It was the final hour,
and um, you know, I apologize. I should have handled
(03:38):
it better, and I did for my gift to you
for Christmas. No, not bad, by the way they're delicious.
By the way they are delicious. It's not every day
somebody gets you a couple of chairs for Christmas, you
know what I mean. It's a couple more than a
couple that only a couple laugh, trust me, all right. So,
Brady Quinn, that being said, I was done when I
(04:01):
turned on the television earlier and I actually saw that
there were games being played in week seventeen. Because man,
I was told for the longest time we were never
going to get to this point. I was told forever
we were never gonna get to this point. No way
they're gonna get a season in. But here we are,
and a wild season coming to a close with one
(04:22):
game left to determine the winner of the NFC East.
But Brady Quinn, here we are and just a crazy,
crazy day of football with all sorts of playoffs scenarios
that played out for us. Biggest surprise for me today
was in the a f C S. I did not
think Buffalo would play their starters. Josh Allen played today
(04:42):
through three touchdown passes over two yards, passing two On
the other hand, through for a good number of yards. However,
three turnovers, three interceptions, and and you know you can
make whatever you want out of that. Uh, the reality
is he's a rookie, He's got room to grow. This
had nothing to do with the fact that they didn't
have Ryan Fitzpatrick. Okay, this is a really good Buffalo
(05:05):
Bills team, a better than the Miami Dolphins team. I'm
sorry for Dolphins fans. Do you think that they're a
playoff caliber team? Uh, you're not. I mean, clearly, the
way things played out today, you're not. You want double digits.
I'm not gonna say you were lucky too. But the
reality is, if you go back to the Las Vegas
(05:26):
Raiders game, the Ryan Fitzpatrick Hail Mary if you will,
that also added on with a penalty that gave you
a shot at a field goal. I just I can't
buy into what your story is you're not a playoff team.
Wait a minute, I thought I thought he saved the day.
I thought the move to Ryan Fitzpatrick saved the day.
What are you talking about? Do you mean you think
(05:47):
I would have saved today? Now use thirty. But no,
and and it didn't save it week. It didn't save
it the first time around. You and I've talked about this.
It didn't save it the first time around. Against Denver
they lost. And then the game against the Raiders, ardent
Key tried to tried to decapitate Ryan Fitzpatrick and they
had blown coverage. Ryan Fitzpatrick wasn't the reason they won
(06:08):
that try you dental work on Ryan Fitzpatrick, unfortunately, mask
and I can't, I, honest to god, can't believe how
people are looking at at the way that to has
been handled by Brian Flores and commending it by Hey man,
I love the approach. I love you, Oh you do,
Oh you love that approach. And then you get people
(06:30):
that are talking about man two looks a little shaky, yeah,
kind of like maybe he doesn't have confidence that he
would have had had he been able to work through
some of these games on the road, and some of
these difficulties without getting yanked by his head coach. I
think it was a disaster. I think this season's blood
is on Brian Flores hands. How about that for a
hot take? Run that on Twitter. I'm not willing to
(06:51):
go that far. I do. That's what I know here.
Trust me. I know you're you're willing to go deep.
I mean really deep. I mean you're willing to get
in there and then just you know, just turn it
up a notch. That was the case. I would have
been married long ago. Okay, I'm not gonna go that far.
(07:11):
I will say this though, Um I'm with you. I
think it stunted his growth to a degree. I don't
know that I played a factor in today's game. I
was just more surprised by the Buffalo Bills playing their starters.
I like it. No, I don't mind it. And that's
Sean McDermott. And maybe that's the culture he's trying to
create there, and and that's the president that he wants
to send. But I just I kind of look back
(07:34):
and think, if you would have gotten Josh Allen injured,
you're telling me he wouldn't have looked like an absolute
clown of course, it's way too big of a risk.
It didn't work out that way. Maybe they'll be the
team that Kansas City ends up being beaten by the playoffs.
I don't know, I just I kind of. I actually was.
It was shocked to see that they were gonna play
(07:56):
Josh Allen when they're not gonna get it by next week.
They're playing the wild are arounded by the way. Uh,
here's a little secret for you. They're playing what I
believe to be right now. Uh, the what looks to
be probably one of the scarier teams in the playoffs
in the Tennessee Titans. Okay, the reality is, if there's
one team that we saw last year in the playoffs
(08:18):
make a run based on their running back, of building
in Derrick Henry and Ryan Tinos, ability to make plays downfield,
it's the Tennessee Titans. So good luck to the Buffalo Bills.
You probably got one of the more difficult draws in
the playoffs this year. They're actually getting Indianapolis. So Indianapolis
because Tennessee beat Tennessee won the division. So Tennessee is
(08:40):
the four seed. They're getting the Baltimore Ravens, and so
Buffalo is getting Indianapolis. Hey, by the way, that doesn't
make any easier either because you still have the defense
Jonathan Taylor running the like either way, I guess I
would say this no matter what came out of the
ANFC South, it was gonna be a tough match um
(09:00):
for any team in the wild card run. And I
don't want to come off the wrong way, but the
truth of the matter is Philip Rivers has experienced in
the playoffs. This is Ryan Sannael. I'd rather play Tennessee
than Indianapolis, swear to God with that. With the defense,
Tennessee exactly exactly. I mean, they're not as complete of
a football team. I mean that's the biggest difference. If
(09:23):
there's anything that could get hot, and if there's any
team that doesn't care about what like whatever happens on
the road, it's probably the Colts because they've got a
veteran quarterback, they have a good defense, they have a
rushing attack Caustanzos al. But the reality is Velder came
in there Sidning this past week. He played well enough,
and there's not home field advantage for the Buffalo Bills
(09:44):
and what were gonna have like six thousand fans there Yeah,
that's not going to create a huge difference. Yeah, I
think seven all right, are high school games at Dublin
Kaufman Stadium there in doubl Ohio had ten thousand plots. Okay,
that's not going to create that big of a difference
in regards to crowd noise. I'm sorry. I hate to
(10:07):
pull out the high school football card. We've all got one,
a lot of You've got one. Lee's got one. Bobo
doesn't have one. He has a different card, so that
I am dB for some adult films. But the reality
is we all we all have we all have that
high school football card, and I'm playing it right now,
like ten thousand fans in Doublin Kaufman Stadium is more
(10:29):
so than what you're gonna see from the Buffalo Bills.
I'm sorry. By the way, you're gonna find Bobo's work.
Just search at Wesley Pipes. That's where you can find him.
You can do it. That's the way that you can Nay.
By the way, hey, by the way, I'm not saying
it's gonna happen, but you and I have been trying
(10:50):
to tell people, um knock, knock. Jonathan Taylor's at the door,
and he continues to play big games. He continues to
put up big numbers. I'm not saying he's because clearly
he's not gonna win Rookie of the Year, but at
some point he's got to be in the conversation top
three to five most impact for rookies this season. I'm sorry, man,
total game changer. The second day started giving him the
(11:12):
ball and he started running the way that he's been running.
I think Indianapolis has taken a step and that's exactly
why you pointed it out. You'd rather play Tennessee than
Indianapolis at this point. So if you're Buffalo, that's a
risky draft after deal with the first first playoff game
of the season, our first playoff game of the year.
I just I'm telling you, man, Indianapolis is a problem.
(11:34):
Let me put it this way. Okay, who in the
wild curd round, which quarterbacks do you trust the most? Okay,
I will say Ben Roethlisberger and immediately behind him is
Philip Rivers. That's fair. So if that's the case like that,
that's unfortunate for Buffalo. Like as good as they are
(11:55):
as a team, it's the playoffs. Any team can beat
any team on any Sunday said in a regular season,
but we can also say that in the postseason. And
that's the other team that I'm really concerned by. Now.
People might be saying, what about Lamar Jackson at the
Baltimore Ravens. They haven't won a playoff game, folks, I'm
sorry to break that to you. I'll tell you this
right now. I'm calling my shot Baltimore's beating Tennessee. I'll
(12:17):
call it right now. I will call that right now.
I'll call my shot Baltimore's beating Tennessee. There's gonna be
there's gonna be a lower seeded team that's gonna win
in the a f C, at least one. I'm telling you.
In in order of confidence, I'm gonna go Baltimore number
one over Tennessee. I'm gonna go uh, Indianapolis over Buffalo two,
and then I'll go Cleveland over Pittsburgh and third in
(12:38):
order of confidence, I have Baltimore's number one, followed by
indian Cleveland. Yeah, that would be if I had to,
if I had to stack them, which one I'm most
confident in because I think there's gonna be at least
one lower seeded team that's gonna advance in the a
f C Wild Card Round. Cleveland would be dead last,
Baltimore would be Baltimore would be first. I think they're
beating Tennessee. Are we not excited about the fact that
(13:01):
Cleveland and Pittsburgh stalls played two weeks in a round. Yes,
And let me tell you something, Man, if you're a
Browns fan, I don't know how you come away from
that game today going all right, man, we're off and running.
Brow Was Baker Mayfield that much better than Mason Rudolph?
Am I crazy? No? This is this was like Oklahoma,
oklhom this is like Bedlam back in college, and you're like,
all right, like both quarterbacks and slinging around a little bit,
(13:24):
like they're both capable. Like if you switch teams, I
don't know that you wouldn't have gotten the same result
in Mason Rudolph playing quarterback for the Browns then Baker
Mayfield playing quarterback for the Steelers. So to evenly Matt's teams. Clearly,
you know Pittsburgh has the advantage. But look again, third
time these these teams play, it's gonna be a ton
(13:45):
of fun to watch. The a f C is gonna
be way more fun to watch that think the NFC.
I agree. I I think it's completely wide open and
next weekend's gonna be a lot of fun. Brady Quinn
Jonas knocks here on Fox Sports Radio. I want to
let you know we are brought to you by Ford.
We're all in the fight against COVID nineteen and Ford
Motor Company is doing their part by manufacturing and donating
(14:07):
a hundred million masks to underserve communities, and Ford encourages
everyone to join the effort. We are so close to
winning this fight, and these next weeks are crucial. Let's
hold the line, continue to social distance, wear masks, and
look out for each other so we can get back
to where we were together. We can get it done.
Let's finish strong. A message from the Ford Motor Company.
(14:27):
All right, coming up next, there's a situation that is
playing out in the NFL that seemed absolutely impossible just
a few weeks back. Yet here we are. We'll tell
you what that is next year on fs are Oh yeah, yeah,
just here this reverberating through the hallways. Play like a champion,
(14:49):
you guys, hitting the sign on the way out to
the field. Oh yeah, And that little that little uh
honey bear that you had, you know, the honey that
you had to use before every game. Brady Quinn, that's
super really gonna you're really going to tell the secret?
Was that a secret? Yeah? Many people know that. I
mean you've told it on the air before. Yeah, a
(15:10):
little honey bear. It was like a little a little
pregame tradition there. Yeah, it was a pregame and post
game you usually I would leave it on the field
somewhere where we played. Where on the field would you
leave it? As I took a sip of coffee, I
thought you were going to talk a long the hate
when that happens a little, a little behind the radio.
(15:30):
I'm not like you. I don't grab a black hot
cup of coffee before every show. I love it where
I looked to sip on it like during the course
of that's all you, buddy, A coffee guy. That's just me.
That's just what I am. Um, careful with that, all right,
Brady Quinn. Jonas knocks here on Fox Sports Radio coming
up in we'll call it about ten minutes from now
(15:51):
here on fs ARE. I think this is a terrible loss.
I think it's a bad look for an entire team.
We will dive into what team that is coming up
ten minutes from now. On Fox WORTS Radio Sunday Night Football,
Brady Quinn is underway. They have just kicked off the
opening kickoff? And who's that wearing? Did Carson Wentz trade Jurord?
Is he wearing? Oh? That's right, he's a healthy scratch?
(16:12):
Sorry about that. I was just wondering what happened to
old Carson Wentz? There, Mr, Mr Healthy scratches. Jalen um.
I think it's pretty obvious what the plan is in
the off season now. Really, he's got to go just
saying why is he a healthy scratch? Come on, he's
making money? Why can't you play? I mean for starters.
(16:32):
I I don't know the extent of that. Maybe they
don't want anyone to turn to. Besides basically saying Jalen
hurt storry guy, I mean the fact that we're even
at this point with Carson Wentz. I think he had
his worst game as a starter this past week. So
why would this be the week that you say, Okay,
(16:54):
we're gonna put Carson Wentz as inactive because we feel
so good about Jalen Hurts he had is worst game
last week. I agree, but why That's what makes this
move a little bit more puzzling. Is this them trying
to keep him healthy so that they don't diminish his
trade value in the off seasons, get hurt meaningless snaps? Yeah, okay,
(17:15):
maybe because now they're out of the playoff hunt, whereas
last week it wasn't the case. So that is the
case now. So why would you make him active when
you're paying him all this money, you owe them all
this money, and then he gets hurt coming into relief
of Jalen Hurts and it's all for not because they're
not one of the postseasons. So that makes more sense
(17:36):
to me than I guess the scenario that you're throwing
out there. Okay, if if I threw this scenario at
you weeks or start of the season, and I said
week seventeen, more likely scenario that Alex Smith is going
to be the starting quarterback for Washington and they've got
(17:56):
an opportunity to win the division or Carson Why and
is going to be benched in favor of Jalen Hurts
and a healthy scratch, which one would be more believable
for you at the start of the season because that's
where we are, which is absolutely crazy to me. I look,
I agree, it is a bit crazy. Um, I think
(18:18):
something that has to do though, with a miraculous way
which alexis come back. Yes, I mean it has a
lot to do with that, and he's clearly the best
quarterback on the roster. It's not not even like they
look so much better with him out there, not that
he's been playing outstanding, but I just think there's a
stability when you watch him that you didn't get with
anybody else that they threw out there, and that you know,
(18:40):
whether it's Dwayne Haskins or Kyle Allen for the short
time that we saw him, it's obvious to me, Tyler Hennike,
all those it's obvious to me that Alex Smith is
the best quarterback on that roster and just to see
where he's come from. When at the start of the season,
you and I talked about it on the air and
we said, hey man, this is a great story the
fact that you know, you know he's back and quote
(19:01):
unquote with the team. But we really didn't expect that
this was going to go the way that it did,
especially after they made the trade for Kyle Allen, and
yet here we are, Man, they can win the division
because of Alex Smith, in large part because of his
stability at the quarterback position, which I think is one
of the most incredible things I've seen, Honest to god,
Well they looked the most incredible things to come back
(19:22):
seventeen surgeries, and now only does they come back to play,
he comes back to be the starter that's probably gonna
lead them to the NFC East title and hosting a
playoff game. Like for for everyone out there's like, oh, well,
he's coming back because the amount of money he's making
within his contract, he's earning some of that back in
them hosting a playoff game. Reanted. I don't believe they'll
(19:46):
be concessions or or are those sorts of sales. But
the reality is he's been worth every dollar they've paid
him to be the starting quarterback, to be a guy
that can, you know, provide them a chance at winning
the division, which no would have thought that was the
case a year ago. No, And so that's why this
whole just the way that this whole thing is transpired,
(20:06):
And now the situation is pretty clear because the Giants
beat the Cowboys, and whatever the hell you want to
call the conclusion to that game. I'm still trying to
figure out whether Wayne Gallman recover that fumble or whatever
the hell happened at the end of that game. But regardless, Yeah,
I personally didn't think it was a fumble. I'm a
little bit confused by just kneel the football. I don't
I I like I said, I can't fig And then
(20:28):
there was a review that that wasn't reviewed, there was
a challenge that wasn't used. It was very very bizarre
conclusion to an NFC East games, As a lot of
these games have been very bizarre all season long. But
as it stands right now, you've got, uh, the Giants
and Washington. Who are the two teams that can win
the division? If Washington loses in Philadelphia wins this game,
(20:48):
then the Giants are gonna are gonna win the NFC East.
And then if Washington wins out, obviously they win this game,
they control their destiny. They're gonna win the NFC East.
Who's the Who's the If you were a team having
to play one of these two, which one would you
preferably play? Um? I mean I had broad to play
the New York Giants. Yes, I agree. Bottom line is
(21:10):
their defensive front isn't as fierce is what you faced
on Washington football team. Alex Smith plays a winning style
of football. You know, he's not gonna turn the football over.
He's going to distribute the football where the ball should go.
And if not, Preservice writes to pun Um, They've got
enough pieces where I actually think they can you know,
you know, score enough points in a low scoring game
(21:32):
to be able to beat you. So, um, I guess
I'd say the Washington football team is the more dangerous
between the two. Yeah, and and so that's why I
think if that's the team to get in, that's the
one that I had that has the best most potential
to maybe win a game of the two. But nonetheless,
here we are Sunday night football, and we got Philly
and Washington. We got a team with no mascot. You've
(21:53):
got you know, Ron Rivera out there trying to coach
his team into the postseason. There's no fans and attendance. Uh,
Doug Peter are sending there's reports that Doug Peterson and
Carson Wentz his relationship is fractured. We got all sorts
of storylines here Brady quit. How about that in a
week seventeen that some people thought was never gonna get here? Huh?
How about some people might have been us? I listen,
(22:14):
I thought we were going to get here. I standard
I I my had faith in this season and the
direction of thought we could never get here. You know,
we both thought we'd get here. I just it's kind
of a climatic I mean, is is that? Is that
a good way of describing it? Yeah? I mean you're
just based on on what that you expected that we
were going to get this season pushed back? Are you
a little surprised? It took a bunch of weekday games,
(22:36):
but they kept everything on schedule for the most part.
I think we're, you know, right where they had planned
at the entire time. I mean, it's more the fact
that we didn't push the schedule back. Yeah, that's more
what I'm speaking to. Yeah. Um, And and there's also
some people that have thrown out the idea of, you know,
it's not too late, they should maybe consider a bubble
blah blah blah blah blah for the postseason. I saw
(22:57):
that rhetoric going around. It's not happening. It's on these
teams to figure out whether or not UH players can
can stay away or you know, keep out of the
COVID web or whatever you want to call it. We're
having a playoffs. We've got three wild card games next Saturday,
another three on Sunday. Here we are the extra playoff
(23:17):
team in. It's gonna be bananas next weekend. Man, I
can't wait, can't f and wait. Look, it'll be a
lot of fun. I can't wait to see what happens.
I think there's a greater chance for upsets in the
Is that fair to say? Yes? I totally agree, I
totally I think there's gonna be at least one UM
and then the NFC kind of has a mixed bag.
IF's not so great teams that are in. Just just
(23:38):
saying I'm not trying to call at the Bears specifically,
I'm just saying we can discuss that at some point
throughout the course of the show. All right, Brady Quinn
Jonas knocks here on Fox Sports Radio. Coming up next,
there's a team in the NFL that suffered a really,
really bad lass. I think it's probably worse than most
people do. But we will dive into that next here
on Fox Sports Radio for all the latest though from
(23:59):
around the world of the sports ladies and gentlemen. Stone
Cold Steve to say, we got about eleven minutes to go.
First quarter of the season finale for the NFL. Washington
with a six and nine record, scoreless early at Philadelphia.
Washington must win tonight to clinch the NFC East title.
If not, it'll go to the Giants, who defeated Dallas
twenty three to nineteen. Andy Dalton was sacked six times
(24:20):
and through a late interception in the end zone. This
division's winner will host Tampa Bay in the playoffs. Bucks
twenty seven winners against Atlanta and Tampa Bay, wide receiver
Mike Evans left with a knee injury. The report is
that Evans did not suffer ligament damage. Today, Tom Brady
had four touchdown passes three hundred nine nine yards crazy
(24:41):
finished for Tennessee to get a victory at Houston forty eight,
winning the a f C South on a thirty seven
yard field goal on the final play that hit the
upright and went through. It was set up by a
fifty two yard pass to A. J. Brown. The Texans
had just hit a fifty one yard field goal to tie,
they go down to defeat at home Tennessee. You will
host Baltimore next weekend in the postseason. For the Titans. Today,
(25:04):
Derrick Henry thirty four carries two hundred fifty yards and
two touchdowns. He went over two thousand yards rushing this season.
The Colts beat Jacksonville fourteen. Jonathan Taylor thirty carries two
hundred fifty three yards and two scores. Seattle and New
Orleans each one on the road. Green Bay did as well.
The Packers are in the one seed in the NFC
in the first round by winning at Chicago thirty five sixteen,
(25:26):
but the Bears make the playoffs because of the Cardinals loss.
It'll be Chicago at New Orleans next weekend. Arizona is
out eliminated after an eighteen to seven defeat in l
A against the Rams. Each team for about three quarters
was playing a backup quarterback, and it showed. Rams are
at Seattle next weekend in the playoffs. As for other games,
(25:47):
Miami's out lost fifty six twenty six at Buffalo, so
the Dolphins at ten and six are done. Meanwhile, the
Bills clinched the number two seed in the a f
C it will be the Colts at Buffalo next weekend.
Cleveland's in clinching a playoff spot for the first time
since two thousand to beat Pittsburgh twenty two. The Browns
will be at Pittsburgh in the postseason opener. Baltimore thirty
(26:08):
eight three winner at Cincinnati. The Ravens clinched the playoff spot.
Victories for Minnesota and New England. Also, Chargers and Raiders
got victories in the NBA. Boston a two point winner
at Detroit one twenty Jason Tatum the game winning jumper
with three seconds left Lakers or five and two. After
winning at Memphis Tonight one ninety four. In college hoops,
(26:29):
Minnesota beat Ohio State and currently it is number five.
Houston now up fifty one at s m U eleven
minutes to go, approaching mid first quarter in Philadelphia, Eagles
scoreless with Washington Back to you, thanks Steve Jonah Stocks.
Brady Quinn here on Fox Sports Radio coming up in
We'll call twelve minutes from now here on fs ARE,
I'm gonna ask Brady Quinn about a decision that a
(26:50):
team made, uh that I don't understand it. We're gonna
use his football expertise to try and uh, you know,
pinpoint what the issue is exactly with this that'll be
coming up twelve minutes from now here on Fox Sports Radio.
By the way, when Tom Brady sees j. D. Mckissic
for Washington, do you think he foams at the mouth
like drools thinking about what it would be like to
have that guy in his offense. Just being able to
(27:12):
have that guy to throw out throw it out out
of the backfield like that. It makes you think he
doesn't already have that who and who Leonard for Net
James White. No, but I'm saying moving forward, I'm saying,
do you think he sees j. D. Mckissic and goes man,
I don't. I don't care what his contract status is.
You guys got me Antonio Brown, who By the way,
(27:33):
it looked really good the past couple of weeks, Um,
go out and get me j D. Mckissic. I miss
that James White type. Rojo is supposed to fit that
mold Um. Look it's to at this point in time
to make like a bunch of drastic decisions on who
you're running back is and what type of player he's
going to be. Maybe the softest you can find a
(27:55):
guy like that. But I don't think he's focused or
thinking about any of that right now that Evans play.
Did you see the way his leg don't look good?
It doesn't like he tried to get up a couple
of times and fell back down, and then when he
was walking off it buckled again. Have you ever hyper
extended your knee. I've hyper extended my knee before. You
can't walk for like ten minutes. It's weird. It's just
(28:18):
all of a sudden says no, no no, no, no, no.
It went that way for a reason. It's going to
go that way again if you try and walk any further.
And now they're saying, as Steve mentioned in the update,
there's they don't think there's any tendon issues. But I
can't imagine he's gonna be anywhere close to next week
for the playoffs. Look, it feels loose, it feels a
little bit tender. I mean usually the next few days afterwards,
(28:39):
you don't try to mess with it too much. You
try to stay off it. You try to try to
get the swelling go down your body. Naturally, when it
gets bent in a certain way, it shouldn't. It swells up,
it kind of reacts to it freaks out, and then
over time it starts to kind of colmbat down and
feel closer to normal. So that that's most likely what
you're gonna see. I've hyper extended it. I've torn a
(28:59):
pc of I've torn away some meniscus. I mean, you
name it. I've kind of been there, outside of tearing
an a c L which I've been very lucky not
to have done that. Um. Alright, so two years in,
all right, we're now two years into the Kyler Murray
Cliff Kingsbury experiment. All Right, I can't imagine people feel
(29:20):
real great about things. All right, I'm I'm just saying, man,
I know Kyler Murray was banged up, but that's a
bad loss. They lost to John Wolford. The guy looks
like Gary Oldman. Alright. First of all, uh, out of
nowhere opportunity to win the game with a little bit
of help and get into the playoffs, and you lose
in consecutive weeks to a backup quarterback. I think it's
(29:41):
a terrible loss for Arizona. I think outside of that,
the Hail Murray play, which it went on to lose
three straight games after that I think year two has
been really, really troublesome. If I'm an Arizona Cardinal fan,
it's been improvement upon last year. I'm not gonna buy
into this conversation, Okay, I mean, first, Murray didn't play
as much as Streveler. They put Streveler in for a
(30:03):
reason that that wasn't because of like anything other than
the fact that cala Muri wasn't healthy. So this game
probably would have been different had Calumari been a hundred
percent he was Kyler Murray got benched for a guy
with armed tattoos. For the record, I'm just saying, for
the record, he got bench for a guy with an
arm sleeve. Yeah, that that's not what took place. He
wasn't healthy, and it was a tough spot to be
(30:24):
in versus a defense that's played really well this year
for them. Give them credit for what they were able
to do against the divisional opponent. And I will say
this again, it was a good stepping stone for where
I think the Cardinals need to get to know we
We tended to like buy into the idea that the
Cardinals were going to be one of those teams that
kind of took off for Calumary became that. Then that
(30:46):
the other quarterback in the second year to win the
m v P. It's hard to do that. Uh, that
wasn't gonna replicate itself, and this team wasn't quite ready
for it. With Chandler Jones, all right, maybe you give
him a shot, but that just wasn't the case versus
this team. The way they played this year, eight wins
is good. It's not good enough, I think for what
(31:06):
they wanted, but it is a step in the right direction.
Um well, it's let me tell you exactly why this
whole Kyler Murray m VP stuff started because lazy media,
That's exactly why. Because Patrick Mahomes year to one m
v P, Lamar Jackson year to one m v P.
And so when we were looking around for stuff to
talk about because everybody finished Tiger King in like a
(31:29):
day and a half, all of a sudden we started
making up these stories like Russell Wilson's never gotten an
m v P vote, Kyler Murray, is this the year
dark horse m v P? Look at the previous two quarterbacks.
That was simply a copy and paste job of previous
takes from the from the other two years between Mahomes
and Lamar Jackson and that's why that happened. And you're
welcome for me pointing that out to hear on Fox
(31:50):
Sports Radio. Are you claiming the media is lazy? I'm
just saying that it's one of those ladies answer the question, Yes,
is the media lazy? Yes, there's no There's no why
anybody would think just because it happened with Patrick Mahomes
and Lamar Jackson that it was gonna automatically happen with
Kyler Murray. What are we doing here? Like we gotta
(32:11):
we gotta stop jumping the gun with this stuff. You
remember the whole talk about how Russell Wilson's the m
v P five weeks in and it's his award to lose.
I don't know about you, but he hasn't looked that
hot the past couple of weeks. If I if I
were a Seattle Seahawk fan, I think dealing with the
Rams next week could be a little bit problematic. Whether
they got Gary Oldman at quarterback, at Gary Oldman stunt
(32:32):
double or not. I'm just saying, tell me that guy
didn't look like Gary Oldman. Tell me John Walford doesn't
look like Gary Oldman, No, I'm not gonna speaking to
that speak to this point. You know, Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes,
Josh Allen, Derrick Henry. You could start to rattle off
some names before you get to Russell. Russell is probably fifth,
and maybe that's fair to say, but but the truth
(32:55):
of the matter is, you're right, he's dropped off since then.
I have no idea of why are the media the
national there's that spaceship again. You really get buzzed up that,
but there's there's no reason why the national media needs
to crowd or annoint an m v P after five
or six weeks. They they do it all the time.
(33:15):
It's at a lack of creativity, a lack of want
to talk about what's actually happening on a week to
week basis. And that's what we did with Russell, Wilson
and Stattle Seahawks. And look, the truth is, he played phenomenal.
He's kind of in the conversation, but but that largely
came from how bad their defense was and the fact
that that's what they had to do in order to
(33:36):
win football games. And once it didn't work, they said, Okay,
we need to change our strategy and what we're doing
if we want to try to win, and we're gonna
have to help kind of protect our defense and run
the football, and it's actually been better off for them
moving forward. Yeah. I just you've you've talked about this before.
Having to play a team three times, you know what
that's like. Like, it's real difficult to beat a team
(33:58):
three times, and when you're playing at the vision opponent
and you get him a third time in the postseason.
So you've got Cleveland and Pittsburgh, which you're going to
face off in the opening round of the wild Card,
and then you've got the Rams and the Seahawks, who
are also going to face off for a third time.
You gotta pick one to pull off the wind, all right?
What one unders one lower seed to pull off the wind?
(34:20):
Are you going with the Rams? Are you going with
the Cleveland Browns? Oh? Gosh, I would take the Rams.
I'm taking the Rams. I think the Rams can be Seattle.
I do. Especially Gary Oldman's plan. I don't know, you
don't see it. The guy who was an immortal belove,
he played Beethoven and immortal beloved. He just beat the
(34:42):
Cardinals to go to the playoffs. We're just gonna miss this.
I would also take the Rams though, for this reason,
in part because they've had the number of Russell Wills
Seahawks since he's been there, so that's a little bit
to do with it. They've got arguably two of the
best defensive play in Donald and Jalen Ramsey, and and
(35:03):
I do think Jared Goff will be back and and
he'll be able to be somewhat effective. So I tend
to think that that's going to be more of the
case that I think what we see from Cleveland is
that fair? Yeah, No, I I think if you're a
Cleveland Brown fan, I would be concerned. I'd be really concerned,
as a matter of fact, and I would come away
from that game today going I don't know if I
(35:24):
liked what I saw, because that was a little bit
too dicey, especially towards the end. All Right, Brady Quinn
Jonas knocks here on Fox Sports Radio. You can hang
out with us as always on the I Heart Radio app.
Coming up next, I'm gonna we're gonna pick the brain
here of Brady Quinn because the team did something earlier today.
I don't understand. I don't know why there's not a
default go to move in this situation. We'll dive into
(35:46):
that next here on Fox Sports Radio. That guy's Brady Quinn.
I'm Jonas Knox. This is is Fox Sports Radio. You can
hang out with us as always on the I Heart
Radio app. Top of next hour. A little over ten
minutes from now he you're on fs are. Uh. Somebody
got shut up in a hurry. Weird. Somebody in the
world of football got shut up in a real hurry
(36:08):
this past week. We will dive into that here coming
up in about ten minutes from now here on Fox
Sports Radio, Brady Quinn, We've got Sunday night football for
all the marbles for the NFC East between Washington and Philadelphia.
There was a turnover by the Philadelphia Eagles, and now
(36:29):
Washington has the football yet again, already up seven nothing
in the first quarter, looking to try and attack on
more points as they win. Uh, the NFC East, and
we get to see that that defensive line in the postseason.
I was just gonna say, I mean, it's it's it's
kind of the team that I want to see in
the postseason because they run the football. Okay, they have
(36:51):
a good defense, they have a quarterback that's not gonna
put them in a bad spot in Alex Smith. I
think they give the NFC East the best chance of
actually win get game. The wild car right, and my
nuts for saying that. No, I totally agree. I just
I And also you just you feel, especially with the
season and Ron Rivera and all that he's gone through,
(37:12):
and all that Alex Smith has gone to gone through,
it feels like that's the team that you're pulling for. Um,
all those people that thought, man, if the Dallas Cowboys
get in without Dak Prescott, what does this do to
him moving forward? I think we can go ahead and
keep quiet on all that. I didn't feel like Dallas
deserved it. The Giants are a good story, but there's
just nothing there for me to want to sink my
(37:33):
teeth into. I didn't want to see the Giants in
the postseason without Sae Kwon Barkley. I just looked at
this and I go, all right, get Washington in there
and see if that defense can make some noise. And
it's funny, how remember the first week of the season,
these teams met up and you and I told everybody
and we we were ball washing the Washington defensive front
for the longest time, saying hey man, this could be
(37:55):
a problem. This could be a dicey game for Philadelphia.
And they gave Carson Wentz and that old line absolute nightmares.
I mean from the get go they were in issue.
So to see it come all these weeks later and
then an opportunity up ten nothing now towards the end
of the first quarter there at the link or the vet,
whatever the hell they call that in Philadelphia. Here we
go Washington Football. Brady no mascot, who cares onto onto
(38:18):
the playoffs. I'm calling it. This game is over. By
the way, this game is over. Is that a prerequisite
for a team to have a mascot in order to
win him from I don't know, just it's a little funny,
you know. It's like like the first team without a
mascot to ever go to the postseason. I'm gonna call
that here. I didn't. I don't even need to fact
check that. I'll just call it here on the air.
Is Chase Young the definitive defensive rookie of the year
to you? Yeah? Yeah, he is to me too, even
(38:42):
though the stats aren't as I mean, like Josh Allen
had ten sacks the thing his rookie you know, Chase
Young isn't close to that, but he said as big
of an impact, I kind of feel like there was
a bulls out his back the second he got in
the league, where teams were chipping him and sliding to
him and all that stuff, then it really hard for
him to be able to have the production that you're
(39:02):
soving for some I remember somebody saying this about Julius
Peppers that people that know football knew, above and beyond
all the stats, he caused problems for everybody on that front,
to where even if he didn't end up with the
sack or he didn't end up with the big play
at that time, and he had a ton of him
in his career, obviously, but Julius Peppers was a guy
(39:24):
that if you knew football and you paid enough attention
to what was actually going on, you looked at it
and you said, oh, that guy's like he's causing problems
for the entire defensive line. And maybe that's what a
little bit of this is. When it comes to Chase Young,
who you've been all over, I gotta give you credit.
You you were talking about this back at Ohio State
he said he should get some love for the Heisman,
and uh, and here we are, he's about ready to
(39:45):
get his team into the playoffs because this game, I
would have said last year, Joe Burrow definitively won it.
I mean, no if ans or butts about it. Chase
Young was the next player that I would throw in
the category of best player in college football, and he
was dominant. Had he not missed what is a couple
of games I think you had to miss. Yeah, um,
he would have had even more eye popping stats. But
(40:07):
Burrow ran away with it. And and and there's no
you know, there's no debate about that. But Chasing was
right there. And I think he's gonna be the guy
that helps this Washington football team, you know, moving forward,
whether it's Alex Smith or whoever the quarterback is in
the future. Brady quinn Jonas knocks here on Fox Sports Radio.
All right, coming up next, somebody learned a valuable lessons.
Somebody shot their mouth off. They had a big mouth,
(40:29):
and they were taught a lesson in the world of football.
We'll get into that next here on FSR. Yeah, we
got a little bit of humble pie being served there.
Brady Quinn, humble pie in the world of football. We
will dive into that coming up in just a couple
of moments from now. That guy is Brady Quinn. I'm
Jonas Knox. This is Fox Sports Radio. You can hang
out with us as always on the I Heart Radio
(40:50):
app and on every single one of our Fox Sports
Radio affiliates. Wherever you are taking part in the program,
we appreciate you doing so we're gonna take you all
the way up until eleven PM Eastern time, eight o'clock Pacific,
right here on Fox Sports Radio. A crazy busy weekend
in the world of football. We got the NFC East
up for grabs, still there playing right now in Philadelphia,
(41:14):
Washington in Philly, so we've got to all sorts of
things that are happening. And Brady Quinn, for the first
time in one you and I are hosting a show together.
How about that? We made it another year, babe, another
year you and me. How about that we haven't been
(41:35):
fired yet. It is only January three, so I mean
we should get ahead of ourselves right now. It is yeah,
but this is uh, this is the fun time. Obviously.
Now it's not gonna be a fun time because I
haven't seen any official firings. Um, we've been on the
air before. We've been doing this a while now, Yeah, okay, yeah,
(41:58):
you want me, you want me to go through what
I know? Okay, okay, well we we can. We can
dive into I want to I want to say the
negativity for later. I would like to be today. I'm
just I would like to point out that you and
I have been on the air when it's been it
was it last year it was or the last year
was Freddy Kitchens, Yeah, yeah, and then and then it
(42:18):
was Chip Kelly one year he got let go in
San Francisco and you were actually you called the game
for Fox the game and was San Francisco. Yeah, And
so we have not seen any of that as of yet.
But the expectation is there's gonna be some moves being made.
Doug Morone, there's some Urban Meyer rumors out there. I
don't know if you're familiar with Urban Myers work, Brady Quinn,
(42:41):
but there's some rumblings out there. Um, you know, and
then he obviously college football with the you know, uh,
Steve Sarkisian. I was told he was the air parent
in Alabama, but never mind um so, so here's the thing. Um,
I tried to tell you this a week ago, all right,
Brady Quinn. I tried to tell you a week ago.
I said, listen, man, Dabo swine he's a blowhard. Okay,
(43:03):
guy's a blowhard and he's been shooting his mouth awful lot.
All right. I even I even told you him and J. J.
Watt are the biggest blowhards in football, right. I tried.
I tried to tell you this, and I told you
that back before Dabbo Swinney got all of a sudden,
Mr Cool guy doing his TikTok videos and his blob
(43:24):
and his crap. That is rhetoric, is there? Eleventh, you
don't play nine games. You're not allowed to be a
part of my college football playoff. Back before all that blowhardiness,
he was getting choked out by Steve Spurrier every year
in the Palmetto Bowl between South Carolina and Clemson. And
yet here we are, Brady, busy weekend in college football.
(43:45):
Texas has got a brand new coach, Clemson is going home,
and the Ohio State Buck guys move on to take
on Alabama. And might I add your team Notre Dame,
which I believe just based on the betting line, exceed
expectations in their college football playoff. Just saying exceeded expectations
(44:05):
five definition, they exceeded expectations. Well, they covered thing. That's
that's what they cover. There was it was the biggest
spread in the history of the college football playoff and
they did cover it. So there's some many seven's for that.
By the way, they got a touchdown take it away
from them on third down to Michael Mayer. They called
(44:25):
it a legal shift. They went back and showed the replay.
I was like, what, like, where was the illegal shift?
They put a guy on motion, But just because he's
emotion doesn't mean he actually has to like set up
and get set unless there was someone else who wasn't
set long enough. It looked like everyone else got set
the player went in motion. I have no idea what
(44:46):
they called a legal shift. Bottom line is, if you
look in the second half of that game, Alabama scored
ten points in their name seven really fourteen. If you
if you look at that touchdown they got taken away,
it wasn't like they blew the door is off the team.
Now look at if Alabama fans want to say Nick
Saban took his foot off the accelerator. There's probably maybe
(45:07):
some of that, right, I mean, you didn't get it
on side kicked. There's some of the things that played
a factor. But the reality is maybe it could have
been worse. Although I do feel like the officials let
that game go and the Naja Harris that was such
a great highlight of him high you know, hurling over
Nick McLeod the cornerback. Guess what, they missed a hold
on the edge of that entire play that even started it.
(45:29):
So for every Alabama fan that wants to brag and
boast and sec s a c like, I get it,
You're really good this year, here's the reality. The officials
let them play. It played the advantage of Alabama. They
were the better team. You know, nine times eight towns
out of ten, they're gonna beat Notre Dame. Notre Dame
didn't play the game they needed to play. But the
(45:51):
biggest shock wasn't that Alabama one and the fashion in
which they did it, was the fact that Clemson got
blown out right more than Notre Dame did. That was
probably the biggest surprise of the entire weekend. When you
looked at both those two football games, damn right, and
you know what you know. And by the way, round
of applause for Brady Quinn not only defending his guys
(46:12):
but also taking a shot at the SEC right there.
That's what I'm talking about. Round of applause from our
studio audience. I'm standing up right now, Brady Quinn. I'm
standing up giving you a standing ovation here because that's
how it's done. Throw a little shade, hit him with
some miscalls and then talk about how you didn't really
play up to your standards and that Notre Dame did
(46:34):
cover the spread. So I think I think we batted
to all fields there. We covered the degenerate gamblers, the officiating, uh,
some of the SEC blowhardiness that we that we've talked
about before. But the reason why Brian Kelly is not
gonna catch heat for what happened, and why he didn't
catch heat is because he didn't run his mouth before
the game about Alabama. Yeah, that they see how easy
(46:55):
that is. Just don't run your mouth and shoot your
mouth off and double down and triple down like dab
Bo Swinney did, only to come out and get curb
stomped by by Ohio State in that game, which, by
the way, in the second half of that game, it
was obvious who was the better teamingmating. I take back
(47:16):
what I said. I mean, honestly, the thing that was
most surprised was the way Ohio stayed dominated both sides
of the line of scrimmage defensively, offensively, the battle upfront,
and then for Fields, who you know, last year versus Clemson,
this year versus Indiana Northwestern had poor performances to have
(47:36):
his best game at the biggest possible opportunity in time
to do so. I mean, it was he was outstanding.
He was absolutely outstanding. I'm not gonna say he's better
than Trevor Lawrence though, like the people out there right
now and ESPN, who obviously they love to blow viate
about this and it's absolutely absurd, but they create this
(47:57):
narrative like, oh no, now that Xonville Jaguars because of
the play of Justin Fields in one game, are trying
to decide between Trevor Lawrences just Fields. No, they're not. No,
they're not nim rods. Okay, it's still Trevor Lawrence. He
is the best prospect, regardless of what you think from
that singular game, and then it's probably justin fields even
(48:20):
though that was his best game of his entire college career,
his best game as a Buckeye this season, and if
you put his film up against Zack Wilson, they're not
that far apart. But look, everyone's far apart from where
Trevor Lawrence is. So I just I get I rate
when I listened to TV channels, in particularly ESPN try
(48:41):
to create this narrative to try to create buzz around
the NFL Draft because we get it, you're hosting it
and everyone wants to tune in to see the number
one overall pick. Is what's today January three? Trevor Lawrence
is the number one overall pick. Okay, sorry to ruin
the surprise for everyone who's watching the draft in April.
It's gonna be Trevor Lawrence. I'm sorry to rule win
that four months surprise. Oh my god, this is some
(49:03):
of your best work. I gotta be honest with you.
That is uh, there's nothing like a good old fashioned nimrod,
like just just throw that in there, just just to
just to drop that on America. Does it not infuriate
you to see them be like, oh now, Jacksonville's thinking
about which quarterback they're gonna take based off one game. Hey,
Ian Rappaport, who is tweeting that? Stop trying to get clicks, bro, Like, like, look,
(49:28):
you're reputable as it is, Like, just let let's look
at the field. Let's look at the tire story. It's
still the cow mine. There's still plenty of thing that's
gonna take place. Relax, dude, Like, look at the other
thirty five games that Trevor Lawrence has played. Do you
really think that stacks up the same to Justin Fields.
The problem I have with it is that it's it's
now made me avoid going on social media during games
(49:53):
like that because I know that's what's gonna happen. And
I knew that's what was gonna happen. I knew just
the way that he was playing. Uh, you know, he
goes into the blue he gets a little blue tent
tile at all, and he comes out, and I knew
two things are gonna happen. Somebody was gonna say that
that's not the way you should treat kids. Uh, and
that's there's something dangerous about whatever they gave him in
the tent to make him come out and play, well,
he's that you're damaging his future. And then I knew
(50:15):
this whole conversation of well, you know, maybe Justin Fields
has now closed the gap and maybe he's the guy
in some scouts eyes. I knew that was gonna happen.
Those two things are gonna happen, and it pisces me off,
pisses me off that my mind was even going there.
By the way, Um, we will pick up this conversation
here momentarily, but we do have some breaking news in
the NFL. Let's go to Steve Sager. Breaking news from
(50:38):
Fox Sports. It is official from the New York Jets
statement from chairman and CEO Christopher Johnson. He says, this evening,
I informed Adam Gaze he will no longer serve as
the head coach and the Jets. He later says, to
our fans, it is obvious we have not been good enough. Meanwhile,
Washington's up ten seven at Philadelphia now about nine minutes
to go in the second quarter, and guys Russell Wilson
(50:59):
has just conferred something in the locker room after Seattle's win. Now,
San Francisco scored late in that game to get within three,
but once Seattle recovered the on site kick. They were
just going to take a knee twice and be done
with it. Russell Wilson overruled that. He called a short
pass to get David Moore, his teammate, a contract incentive.
(51:19):
He needed one more catch this evening this season, and
he got it this evening, a five yard reception, and
then they took in the that's a one hundred thousand
dollar contract bonus thanks to his teammate, Russell Wilson. Thank you.
That's awesome. And you know the great thing about Russell
Wilson will be the first guy to tell people about
that too. That's great about him. You're such a what
(51:41):
what what? I'll probably do it like a Twitter video
about it. Remember when he gave all his teammates Alaska
Airline plane tickets for Christmas. Dude, you didn't pay for him.
That was your sponsorship. I mean, come on, man, somebody's
got to tell the truth. First off, he wouldn't be
the first quarterback to do so. Okay, he would not
be the first quarterback to give something that was given
(52:04):
to him for essentially free and make it look like
he was doing them a favor. I'll just put it
that way. It's still a nice gesture, and I think
he even speaks more to his ability in those moments
to be able to help out his teammates. You get
a six figure bonus, it's a pretty big deal. I
feel like someone else actually got that today, that too,
(52:26):
there's no another player got that. Okay, here's don't you
feel don't you feel like? But let's go live to
our I know who got a bonus, which is a
miracle because he was so fixated on the Packers game
that he refused to do over unders or send me
over the rundown in time lead to laugh for the
latest lead that would actually be both Emmanuel Sanders and
Antonio Brown's right there. Tom Brady completed three shovel passes
(52:51):
to Antonio Brown in the final two minutes today to
give him eleven catch in the day and forty five
in the season. Why is that significant? He owned a
core of a million dollars in his bonus for hitting
fort receptions. Well, I mean, you know, because he you
know that. Uh, never mind, I'm gonna say it. I'd
love him to leave it alone. Like I'm not gonna
(53:11):
be negative. You don't want me to be negative? I'm
not gonna be negative. I'm not gonna say it. I'll
just okay. Um. You don't think though, that the Seattle
Seahawks would have figured out a way to get David
Moore that money regardless he finishes a catch shy, don't
don't Some teams still kind of, you know, annie up
and say hey man, you know we know you were
a catch shy. I don't worry about it. Here's your hunter.
Grand You don't feel like that would happen. I feel
(53:32):
like that would happened. I'd be like, I'm not gonna
say what teams on. I had a player towards the
end of the season that had a bonus out there
in front of him. He came up short and he
did over the past like four games, stopped getting the
football as much. I thought that was surprising, and I
was like, okay, okay, and uh yeah, so I'll kind
(53:53):
of leave it at that. And we had a losing seasons,
so you know sometimes that happens, just saying um, all right,
So uh, Brady Quinn Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports Radio.
All right, So the big news it just came out
outside of Russell Wilson making sure everybody knew that he got.
David Moore's bonus is the New York Jets have made
a change. The New York Jets have made a major change.
(54:14):
We will dive into what that means moving forward and
who could be taking over there for the Jets. We'll
get into that next year. On Fox Sports Radio, song sucks,
Jonas knocks Brady Quinn here on Fox Sports Radio, all right,
coming up in ten minutes from now here on FS
are Um, I I gotta know, is somebody just allergic
(54:37):
to one of the easiest plays in all of football?
I gotta know. We will dive into that here coming
up in about ten minutes from now here on Fox Sports.
It just it is brutal. It just it does. It's
well played by Bobo. He does a tremendous job every
week with our songs. You're a negative person, You're thank
(55:01):
you appreciate. That's fine. You know you call me negative
all you want, That's fine. I'm just if somebody's got
to tell the truth around here, all right, none of this,
none of this fanboy crap, no this ball washing. Somebody's
got to tell the brutal truth around here. If and
I gotta be the guy. I gotta be the guy,
Brady Quinn new year knew me. I flipped a calendar.
I don't know about your New Year's resolution. I'm off
to a hot start. Uh. All right. By the way,
(55:25):
we are brought to you by Ford. We are all
in the fight against COVID nineteen and Ford Motor Company
is doing their part by manufacturing and donating a hundred
million masks to underserve communities, and Ford encourages everyone to
join the effort. We are so close to winning this fight,
and these next weeks are crucial. Let's hold the line,
continue to social distance, wear masks, and look out for
each other so we can get back to where we
(55:46):
were together. We can get it done. Let's finish strong.
A message from the Ford Motor Company. All right, Brady Quinn, Um,
the decision has been made. The Jets have moved on
from Adam Gaze right now? At what point before the
end of the show, Because I think it will happen
before the end of the show. At what point did
not tonight? Do we also see a rumor that urban
(56:08):
Meyer is interested in the Jets job that happening. Look,
I don't know that. I don't know that that's about
Urban Meyer being interested in the Jets job versus the
Jets being interested in Nerd Meyer. Right, two kind of
different sides of the spectrum. Like I think most NFL teams,
if they're looking for a head coach, should try to
(56:30):
talk to coach Meyer. I don't care if that's college
or NFL. That's what you do. You try to find
and go get the best. And he's obviously one of
the best. Now he hasn't coached at the NFL level.
But I think when you look at Matt Rule and
Cliff Kingsbury, which you know, disappointing loss today, However, you
know Murray didn't play the entire game, and I mean
(56:51):
the reality is it's an improvement from what they were
a year ago. Okay, Pete Carroll's come back to the
NFL and has had a lot of success. So for
that reason, I think you have to kick the tires
on every potential candidate or prospect if you will that
you can. He's obviously one um. But I think if
you're looking at the job of the New York Jets
(57:14):
in comparison to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the irony is
they go one and two in the draft. The Jaguars
looks to me to be a better job. They have
more cap space, they have two first round picks to
go on with a lot of other high draft picks.
I think they have more pieces to build upon, you know,
when you look at their defense and Josh Allen Henderson
(57:35):
at cornerback, the wide receivers, shark channel, James Robinson, I
think they have more to build around in Jacksonville then
Quinnin Williams and kind of you know, Becked in a
tackle and whoever else would have thrown in that conversation,
like Frank Gore and you know you're such a true
(57:57):
Well what I'm just saying the building block here, I'm
gonna build think blocks, Brady, What do you want for me?
But between the draft picks, the cap space and what
they already have and and I guess the assumption that
they're gonna get Trevor Lawrence, which I'll be shocked that
they didn't. Um, I thought about Justin Fields had closed
the gap. Brady, What what what are you talking about? No,
(58:18):
not unless you're listening to some hot take. Uh you
know some hot take artists that we like to talk
about sometimes. Oh man, Um, Yeah, I just if, okay,
Adam Gaze and it didn't work. Obviously, he you know,
didn't work in Miami. They parted ways. He goes to
the Jets, they parted ways. Um, I still and Bill
(58:39):
Belichick made comment of this, and I don't think Bill
Belichick was just blowing smoke that he said that. You know,
Adam Gaze is still a good coach. I want Adam
Gaze to be a head coach in the NFL again,
because I think it pisses people off, and that's all
that I'm interested in. I want whatever is gonna bother
more people. And if that means Adam Gates gets another
job somewhere, I think it's a long shot. But if
that were the case, why not. I mean to be
(59:00):
more entertaining. I think it'd be a lot of fun
to have Adam Gaze back in the NFL. I love
what he's done. Well, he's gonna be back in the NFL.
Contrary to what a lot of people believe. He has
a good offensive mind. He's a good offensive coach. He's
good quarterback coach. I've experienced that firsthand. He you know,
he has all those quoties you're looking for and and
I know things didn't work out with the Jets, um,
(59:22):
but but here's a news flash for Jets fans. When
has it okay? Like, like it's in all seriousness, when
has your organization actually worked out for you? Are you
gonna go back to the Rex Ryan years when you
guys made it to the the NVC championship game got balanced?
Like cool? All right? That worked for a moment. You
haven't been anywhere close since. Like, I'm sorry to break
(59:42):
it to you. Uh, this team needs a lot of time,
a lot of patients if you wanted to be a
contender in the a f C East or in the
a f C in general. So I mean tell me
if I'm crazy, But like, in all seriousness, as much
as you want to be like, oh yeah, I know
the next guy I hope you'll do, will he Like
if it isn't a four or five years with the Jets,
(01:00:03):
what's he gonna be able to build in two or
three years? You can't do crap in the NFL right now.
But are as much competition as there is considering that
the Dolphins are a ten win team right now, they're
not making the playoffs. The Bills won the division, then
the second best team in the a f C. And
then and then on top of that, okay, on top
of that, you have a new England team that last
(01:00:24):
time I checked is still coached by Bill Belichick. Okay,
and there's still gonna be a good football team, and
who knows what they'll get a quarterback, but they're still
gonna be in the mix somewhere. So if you're the Jets,
I don't care who you get as a head coach,
you're at the bottom of the barrel man and then
one of the and the and the reality is you're
(01:00:45):
not gonna be able to get on top of that
division unless you preach patients. You have someone who can
completely come and change the culture there in florm Park.
By the way, the NFL playoffs schedule is out all
right now. I don't know if you've had a chance
to see this yet, but the playoff schedule is out.
Brady Quinn. A wild Card Weekend sets up like this, Uh,
(01:01:06):
Indianapolis at Buffalo. That's the first game of wild Card Weekend.
That's Saturday one oh five Eastern Time, followed by the
Rams at the Seahawks. UH. It'll be the Great quarterback Duel. UH.
If Jared Goff can't come back and take over for
the Rams. It'll be Russell Wilson versus Gary Oldman, uh,
the Rams and Seahawks. That's the four forty Eastern time
(01:01:28):
kick off there uh in the NFC. And then that
the nightcap on Saturday will be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
That either the Washington Football team or the New York Giants,
um depending on you know, how this game shakes out.
And right now Philadelphia has got a lead, I would
think that Tom Brady would rather see the Giants personally.
(01:01:49):
I just think maybe get a little bit of revenge,
a little revenge off the two Super Bowls, but also
he didn't have to deal with that defensive front that
we've talked about. That to me would feel like Tom
Brady would be rooting for Philadelphia to win this game. Yes,
I mean either way, I think it's a favorable matchup.
But if you're looking at the lesser of the two teams,
(01:02:10):
I mean, the Giants defense is not going to give
you issues. The only issue you're really gonna have with
with the Giants offense is Daniel Jones. He can throw
the ball, and he's healthy, and he can take off
and run. That's that's the biggest thing you're gonna have
an issue with with with the Giants team in general,
So I would think that's what they're aiming for. And
then uh, Sunday kicks off with Baltimore and Tennessee. Calling
(01:02:33):
it right now, Baltimore is gonna win that game. That's
the first game one oh five Eastern Time, followed by
the Bears and the Saints. You can catch that one
on Nickelodeon. My God. And then you've got the Browns
and the Steelers, which will be on the air next
Sunday night while you and I are on the air.
It'll be Brown Steelers, So that will be a lot
of fun to watch. I just it's now Here's where
(01:02:54):
the Bear Saints game gets interesting because Alvin Kamara, if
they were worried if that game was late on Saturday,
he would not be available for that game. But because
it's moved to Sunday, it increases the chances of Alvin
Kamara being cleared off COVID the COVID protocols to be
able to make that game and be available for the
New Orleans Saints when they beat the Bears by seventy
(01:03:14):
In that game when they when they wipe them out
by seventy which you and you can, by the way,
catch that game on Nickelodeon. So great. You can get
that in between reruns of Double Dare and Salute Your
Shorts is where you can watch the Chicago Bears playoff
run in a playoff team because the Cardinals lost. I'm
(01:03:37):
just saying, the Bears get the playoffs spot and there
the team that gets Nickelodeon. I mean, come on, man,
what are we talking about here? You know what they
get what they deserve. You made the move to go
to Nick Foles. This is what you get. The offense
is looked thirty times better with Mitch Robiski. You get
what you deserve. You get to be on the same
channel that has what would You Do? And uh and
(01:04:00):
and a bunch of other crumby Pete and Pete and
a bunch of other crumby Nickelodeon shows that you get
to watch in between halftime performances there between the Bears
and the Saints. Are you gonna watch though? Yeah? Why not?
There's nothing else going on? What else am I gonna do?
Watch the NBA? Have you seen that vombit bomb that
they've rolled out early in the season. NBA sucks. Every
(01:04:23):
every game is a blowout. Guys aren't ready to play.
But not my problem. Now you're seeing how difficult things
are when you don't have a bubble to send people to.
All right, Uh, Jonas knocks Brady Quinn here on Fox
Sports Radio. Coming up next, Um, we gotta get to
the bottom of a questionable decision that I that I
do not understand why this is continuing to happen. We
will dive into that next year in the NFL on
(01:04:45):
Fox Sports Radio. But for all the latest from around
the world of sports ladies and gentlemen, Stone Cold Steve
to say, Washington must win tonight to clinch the NFC
East title. If not, it'll go to the Giants, who
beat Dallas today. This is the game going on right
now at Philadelphia that ends the NFL regular season. Minute
and a half to go till halftime. Philly now up
fourteen ten after trailing ten nothing early, but Jalen Hurts
(01:05:07):
with a couple of six yard touchdown runs. The Rams
eliminated Arizona eighteen to seven, Green Bay one at Chicago
thirty five sixteen. The Packers are in the number one
seed in the NFC in the first round by the
Bears make the playoffs because of the cardinal loss. Seattle
and New Orleans each one on the road, Indianapolis one
at home, and Tennessee in spectacular fashion won its game
(01:05:28):
at Houston forty eight, taking the a f C South
Crown on a thirty seven yard field goal on the
final play and hit the upright and win through Chargers
and Vegas each one. Buffalo rip Miami fifty six twenty six.
The Dolphins at ten and six are out. The Bills
clinched the two seed in the a f C. Cleveland
and Baltimore each one to clinch playoffs spot wins for Minnesota,
(01:05:50):
New England and Tampa Bay Bucks wide receiver Mike Evans
left with a knee injury. The Jets did fire their
head coach Adam Gaze tonight. In the NBA, Boston's ja
Sin Tatum with a game winning jumper with three seconds
left to win at Detroit one twenty. Lakers now five
and two after winning at Memphis one and Washington was
one in five, but got a victory at Brooklyn tonight
(01:06:11):
one two as Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant each miss
shots in the final seconds. College hoops Minnesota over Ohio
State and again. The NFL has released the wild card
weekend schedule. We don't know if it's Washington is the
division champ, but whoever wins the NFC East, we'll be
hosting a Saturday night playoff game eight fifteen Eastern against
(01:06:33):
Tampa Bay. As you mentioned, it's next Sunday night, Cleveland
at Pittsburgh. Back to you, thank you, Steve. By the way, um, Steve,
do you know do we have confirmation? Is um one
of the ways to get extra points? You can go
for a two point conversion next week in that Bears
Saints game, or you can slide down a chocolate slide
and grab a flag out of a giant nose at
(01:06:53):
the end. Do we know that? Or is there like
what sort of obstacle course we're going to have? Is
there a chance at the coin toss, Steve, that someone's
gonna get slimed? If there's there a chance of that,
what a disaster. I'm just I'm just sing, Steve, Is
there a chance of that? There's no jokes about Amazon
Prime they're carrying let me days something I don't even know,
(01:07:17):
why why do I want to watch a game on
a shopping app? What do we do any In all seriousness, Steve,
my only question in that regard would be like or
a bunch of players be like delivered like packages on
the side, like like much like my dilemma around Christmas
time and the holidays, are they gonna be like fretting
about all the cardboard boxes slines? Yeah, by the way,
(01:07:41):
I just you know, my favorite part about it is
when you could tell they're running behind because they don't
even stop to drop the package off on the doorstep.
They flip it. It doesn't matter what's inside of it.
And then the picture they take to document it, it's
so it's so I mean, it's just I'm not gonna
say what it is, but it's very lackluster. Okay, I'll
(01:08:05):
put it that way. It's unbelievable. But I can't wait
to watch that bear stains. Here's what I do appreciate
boy Amazon. Though there was a pocket that was delivered
and I literally said to him, I'm like, hey, uh,
they said the factors was delivered. They gave me the time,
they didn't include a photo, and I went outside. It
was not delivered. And I said, so, what do you
want to do about this? They're like, refund, beep money
(01:08:28):
back in my account. Okay, I can't complain about it.
I'd rather have the product. But okay, you gave me
a refund. Uh, clearly you didn't trust in your delivery
service or your driver that they actually placed the place
where it should have been. I'm not even kidding you.
I'd rather get I would have rather have gotten screwed
over just so we could talk about it on the air,
(01:08:49):
Like I I'm willing to take the loss just so
we would have a topic on the air like that.
What's the most recent package you received? Um, remember when
the Bills are playing the Patriots a couple of years ago,
and somebody threw this thing on the field And uh,
(01:09:14):
well no, I wasn't no, now, that's all I'm saying.
I'm just you know, it was similar to you know,
somebody sort of threw a package onto my front door
like that, almost like they were just throwing something there. Um,
but as it definitely was, Yeah, it definitely was. I mean,
at some point we're just gonna have to tell people
what it is. So the longer we just continue to
beat around the Bush, no pun intended. The longer this
(01:09:37):
is going to go on and on for We'll just
put it that way. You're a real class act, a
real class act, and and a giant horse's ass at
the same time that Brady quinnies, So I got to
play some golf today. Yeah, the the country club that
I played at that you'll appreciate this. They actually have
a trophy that is a horse's ass quick they awards,
(01:10:02):
they award someone with that trophy. Oh man, I just
it's gonna be really something to watching that Bear Saints
game when Mark Summers does the honorary coin flip before
the game, the host of Doubledare that'll be a lot
of fun as we watch that. By the way, it's
just what are we doing? Like, like what are we
(01:10:27):
what are we doing here? Like what's next? What are
we doing? Next? Year? Is the first wild card game
in the NFC, the two seven matchup. We're gonna put
that on Food Network, uh and and and the host
of Carnival Eites is gonna is gonna be doing play
by play, like what are we doing? Like I just
I don't get it. I never mind all that, alright,
So Brady Quinn um, live at Jesus is sent a tweet.
All right, I'm just I'm just like you know, he's
(01:10:49):
been red hot, absolutely red hot on fire. Uh, that
is a good point. That is not true, but nonetheless
a live bet. Jesus has sent a tweet which means
he will be making a pick here coming up in
about ten minutes from now here on Fox Sports Radio. Um,
here's what I have a Just you tell me if
if there's anything to this. Do certain quarterbacks that you've
(01:11:11):
known throughout the course of your time, whether it be
you know, Pop Warner, high school, college, the NFL, talking
to coaches, covering the game, analysts, work play by play,
whatever like, whatever you've done, are there certain quarterbacks that
just don't want to do the quarterback sneak? They're just
not a fan of it, Like on fourth and inches
less than a yard. Have you met quarterbacks who just say, yeah,
(01:11:34):
I'd prefer not to do a QB sneak? Do those exist?
I have never met a quarterback that has ever said that. Okay,
because I was trying to figure out what the Bears
are doing when they had multiple fourth and inches against
the Green Bay Packers on the same drive they had
like four fourth and less than a yards and only
twice they did a QB sneak. Another time they threw it,
(01:11:56):
another time they threw it again and it was incomplete,
turned the ball over on downs? What am I missing
when it's fourth and less than a yard? Why is
quarterback sneak not the automatic go to at that point?
I don't get it. I don't understand it. I'll never
understand it doesn't make any sense to me. I think
there's the thought that there's potential risk for the quarterback,
and you'd rather pay the running back, or you'd rather
(01:12:19):
look at that being the potential avenue for actually getting
the first down, Like like those guys get paid to
those guys are quote unquote on scholarships, So hand them off,
give them opportunity to do what they do. There is
that thought when you get in those short yard situations. Okay,
have you how many fourth and less than a yard's
quarterback sneak attempts did you have in your college an
(01:12:41):
NFL career? Like a lot more than I can count
on two hands. Okay, how many times did you get stopped?
I can tell you the one time I did U
c l A my senior year. I think we we
we tried it like five times, we tried quarterback sneaks
and finally they stopped us. And I was just like, well, yeah,
(01:13:03):
like eventually that was gonna happen, Like eventually you can't
keep trying to sneak the football and shortyard situations and
expect to be able to get a first down. So
uh we we actually ended up not getting it. Um.
I remember seeing their disappointment on Charlie Charlie Weis's eyes
when I ran over, and I'm like, what do you expect?
(01:13:23):
It could be something else to do, but uh, most
teams have and and like a Notre Dame or even
when we got in the NFL, we'd called dog dog
and that essentially told everyone whatever the play call was,
it could be a full back dive. I think it'd
be an inside zone run. Um we were we were
checking to a quarterback sneak and the line was gonna
(01:13:43):
pinch down and fire off the ball on the next call,
So it's gonna be on a quick count. And we'd
say dog Dog Blue Go and literally like when no
matter what the call was, it could it could be
on one like a white eighty white eighties said, hut,
you know, and we run a fullback dive. But as
soon as I got up the line of scrimmage and
I had an open a gap, mean I could I
(01:14:04):
can you go the right or left of the center
because they didn't have both both sides covered. I would
literally just say, dog Dog Blue, go and we fire
off and we'd go, try to get that first down,
and it's it's stealing. It's the easiest thing ever. I
may have gotten a concussion my soft me or from
doing that. I don't know, because I don't remember. To
be quite honest with you, I played. I played the
(01:14:25):
entire second half against Stanford my sophomore year. Uh, completely
can cuss like I woke up in the hospital. Have
no idea what the hell? Who smoked you? Who hit you?
I mean, I trust me if if I can remember.
But I tell you, okay, watching that film was as
trippy as it gets. It would be like taking LSD
because you're like, wait that happened? Like it was like
it was like I took a qualud at halftime because
(01:14:48):
I came back and I watched on like I don't
remember any of this, Like none of this jog my memory.
So um, that and I think it. I think it
came via a quarterback sneak. But the reality is, again
every team hasn't in the repertoire like somewhere in as
far as an adjustment or within the short yardage package.
It just comes down to whether or not the quarterbacks slash.
(01:15:10):
You know, coach Phils comfortable doing that. I just I'm
watching the game and I'm seeing Trabiskie and shotgun at
fourth and a and a half yard and I'm like,
what am I what? Like? Why not? Like it's right there?
Just snap it and and converted. They did it twice
and it worked. Like at what why? Why? Why the
(01:15:30):
the shotgun for? I don't know, I just I don't know. Man,
maybe I'm old school. But again, that's just me breaking
down the all twenty twos, uh, you know, kind of
crunching that stuff together and figure it out post game,
Brady Quinn and you know, we'll address that. I'll go
over that stuff tomorrow, you know, as I as I
take a gander through all the all twenty twos in
the NFL. But that's just what I do. You know,
that's just that's just yeah, well I know, I see,
(01:15:53):
but I was making sure that well. But but I
I get a a special All twenty two. Um, I
get a special All twenty two that comes out before
everybody else because they like to, you know, pretty it up.
I don't like the pretty version. I like the rough cuts.
That's the way I operate. But you know again, I
just play the game, all right. Brady Quinn Jonas Knocks
here on Fox Sports Radio. Coming up next year on
(01:16:14):
fs ARE, Live Bet Jesus is here to start your
one off on the right foot. He's gonna try and
make you some money on Sunday Night Football. That's next
year on fs ARE. He's Brady Quinn. I'm Jonas Knocks
is his Fox Sports Radio you can listen to this
show is always on the I Heart Radio app. Brady Quinn.
(01:16:34):
Uh is really really excited to hear from Live Bet
Jesus coming up here momentarily on Fox Sports Radio. Ready
to start off one by picking winners, Brady Quinn. That's
all he does is pick winners. He hasn't lost since
last year, Live Bet Jesus. I know you're fired up
about it. Boy. It's January three, so he hasn't made
a bet this year. Yeah, but technically speaking, I can
(01:16:58):
say that, and it's a true statement, which I'm all
about the truth here. Do a lot for the sky.
I mean the way his bets go. He's sub five
hundred and in his betting prowess. Yeah, I would constantly back.
You know, there's no there's no defense. He's sub five hundred.
(01:17:19):
He's awful of what he does, but you like to
bring him in into our show every single week and
it's awful, It's just absolutely awful. Yeah. I I would
dispute the below five hundred comment. I would like to
dispute that on the record. Get and then if you're
not gonna take my word for it, Lion Bobo is
(01:17:39):
live bit Jesus, not sub five hundred. Um. By the way,
that's Bobo for people wondering, Yes, that's a good answer. Yeah, Lee, Lee,
you any thoughts on this? Yeah, I would definitely say
he's under But you know, we get Steve Sager. Steve Sager,
(01:18:02):
this is a trust. If there's anyone who keeps trad
can we bring in Steve to say, I don't remember
winning streaks of more than two or three, so therefore
probably unders that's a trusted source. Steve to say here
somebody else on the winning streaks of more than two
or if there is one trust it is Steve, and
(01:18:23):
then it's Bobo and Lee tied for second. I have
a four third place. Cannot be trusty, first of all,
for people just tuning into the show live. But Jesus
started showing up a couple of years ago and making picks,
we we have no It's like it's like a magic show.
We have no idea who the person around for half
a decade is awful, all right, he's got he's got
a Twitter account, he's got and and he shows up
(01:18:46):
and he's the verified Twitter account, the only frequent guest
that we get here on Pandemic or No Pandemic Live.
That Jesus has been here every single week except for
the weeks that Brady's not here and I'm not trying
to make any accusations is a little odd. The timing
of that is a lot. And uh and Steve to Saker,
for whatever reason, has had it out for this guy.
(01:19:07):
I just also a fact is he's non union. He
keeps showing up, He's coming. I mean, it's just you know,
it's just he's correct. Hey wait a minute, I'm fall
in that category. You know, I get you. Yuck it
(01:19:28):
up everybody. Yeah, all funny games. Everybody laughing, get laughing
hysterically at our only loyal, loyal guest here on the show.
Unbelievable cats. He absolutely this is a question question. Is
he a guess that he's never said anything? It's just
a piece of paper, that's true. Yeah, that's how impactfully
is It's not very good Dubbo's point. It's bat on radio. No,
(01:19:52):
I actually disagree. I disagree, but disagree. No one can
see him, like see the paper, can't see can't hear
it's radio. You can't see anything anyways. Why do you
think I tell people I'm Jamaican but cares but you
can hear us. So they know Bobbo, they know Jonas,
they know by. So for people who don't know, and
(01:20:18):
I don't know how they don't know by Now you
you villain from Superman, you just do you just step
aside here, unbelievable bad radio. My ask, oh my god,
piece by the way, piece of paper now falling down
on in the desk here radio, this is it. It's
(01:20:39):
going to get I can't tell paper, and who knows
what it is? Tonight on the third day of January
one that I live bet Jesus proclaimed they picked to
me Washington minus six and a half. How about that
(01:21:00):
Brady show with the Washington football team. A yeah, I
mean this is why he absolutely stinks he might have
he might have read the screen wrong. I think maybe
or the paper, whichever one. So was a major move
in the world of football. But is it that much
of a surprise. We will dive into that here coming
(01:21:20):
up in just a couple of moments from now. That
guy is Brady Quinn. I'm Jonas Knox. This is Fox
Sports Radio. You can hang out with us as always
on the I Heart Radio app and wherever you are
taking part in the program. Welcome in tow one our
first show of one, and we'll take you all the
way up until eleven pm Eastern time, eight o'clock Pacific,
(01:21:42):
right here on Fox Sports Radio. Ladies and gentlemen, my
man Brady Quinn Jonas one hour left. We have so
much to talk about. We we we haven't hit on
certain subjects that you keep kind of trying to screw it.
I'm not sure if that's because you don't want to
get into it. Maybe maybe you don't feel comfortable talking
about it, and I'm not exactly I don't know what
(01:22:03):
what this topic You're just you're mentioning there. I don't
know what you mean. I mean, is it Are there
certain things that are off the table here that we
can't discuss, like coaching rumors or things like that. An
open book, I will give you my honest assessment of
everything that's going on. If you have questions, you can
ask all we can talk about some of the stuff
that's already happened so far this weekend. Well, I mean,
(01:22:25):
I was just here, here's the part. I'm having a
hard time figure it out. I was wondering, maybe you
can help me out with this, because you're a good guy, right,
You're always here to help. I had heard that um
Steve Sarkesian was the heir apparent in Alabama that did yeah,
that his job, uh, that the head coaching job after
(01:22:46):
Saban left was going to be Steve Sarkesian's. So that's
why I was a little bit floored when I saw
that he was named head coach of Texas. I just
I was trying to figure like, what, like, what do
you think happened? There? Was there just maybe like a
miscommunication or like, what do you think of of that
whole situation there? Well, I guess I would say this
for any defensive coordinator, offensive coordinator that has this like
(01:23:10):
head coach and winning title. Okay, Um, it's irrelevant until
they actually become head coach. Right, So let's just take
Steve Sarkasian for example. He's the offensive coordinator at Alabama,
he said Stint says, the head coach at USC as
well as Washington, and he had some off the field
(01:23:31):
stuff that you know, he really turned his life around,
and he's put himself in a position where you know,
he took that Alabama offense and he's taken it to
greater heights. Stuff are you talking about? Well, I don't.
I don't want to get into his personal life. But again,
the truth is he has improved as a coach and
he's improved as a person. So he's warranted the interest
(01:23:53):
that's there from Texas, which is where he's now the
head coach. Now, there's this idea that he was gonna
stay at Alabama because he'd be the coach and waiting.
And I would tell anyone who thought that, you don't
know how this game works. Okay, because here's what I know.
He's the head coach at Texas right now, and I
didn't see the figures of the contract that he's signed.
(01:24:15):
I would imagine he's getting paid a boatload of money. Okay,
but that doesn't exclude him from going back and taking
the Alabama head coaching job when Nick Saban leaves. Like
the people who bought into the idea that he was
the coaching waiting and he's not gonna leave take another
head coaching job are foolish if they thought that he
wouldn't take the opportunity to be the head coach of
(01:24:38):
a program that is as easy of a turnaround as
it gets. There is no program that makes them generates
more revenue a year. Texas was number one in all
of college football at generating revenue this year over a
hundred fifty million dollars even with COVID over a hundred
and fifty million dollars this year. Okay. They have a
(01:25:00):
talent rich state that they can recruit locally, and they
have a conference that outside of Oklahoma. I mean, you
could say Iowa stayed out a nice year this year.
Texas should be able to beat both Iowa State and
Oklahoma if it recruits and develops the way it should.
And so it is the easiest turnaround, the best paying,
(01:25:22):
and the most I don't know um revenue generated profitable
school there is in the state of Texas in the
Big Twelve. It is an easy turnaround and one in
which it should leave to Steve Sarkasian having success, wanting
a conference championship, getting to a college football playoff, and
being right where he would have been only with head
(01:25:42):
coaching experience for the Alabama head coaching job if and
when Nick Saban steps down. I didn't hear any rumors
of Steve Sarkasian to Texas before it happened, did you?
And and you're more obviously more connected than me. I'm
just looking at stuff that that is being reported publicly,
because you and I don't talk about this stuff off
the year, mostly Crank Church I had heard. I had
(01:26:03):
heard four different names. Obviously everyone heard about coach Meyer. Uh.
He turned that down a few weeks ago. And once
he turned that down, the interesting thing, The most interesting
name I heard was Dan Mullen at Florida. What you
think like he's already head coach. He's at an SEC school,
a good one in Florida. They played in the SEC
(01:26:23):
championship game, and you think he'd be happy with where
he's at, But I have heard that he's not happy.
The administration is not happy with him there, and that
he's kind of worn his welcome thin in what way,
that they're just a little too loosey goosey and kinda
you know, you know, throw a shoe. Makes some comments. Yeah,
(01:26:47):
good thing he set out the bowl game because like, so,
what what was so? What is the the Dan Mullin
stuff that Florida It's I mean, is it like what
what what do you make of that? Is it just
that it they're not happy with just sort of the
vibe of the program or what? Because I I did
that would have surprised me that Dan moll would have left.
It's it's not the vibe of the program. It's just
(01:27:08):
that it takes a lot to be able to win.
You had a number of players sit out their bowl game,
which was absolutely absurd. Okay, you know Pitts and Tony
you understand, I mean, Tony carried that team throughout the
the you know, majority of the year while Pitts was
out heard. Pitts is a rare talent like I get
those two Trayvon Grimes, Are you kidding me? Dude playing
(01:27:31):
the Bowl game? You haven't done enough to go sit
out like your Bowl game to be able to, you know,
not be the highlighted guy, that the previewed guy to
showcase to all the scoutson talent. Like I'm sorry, stop
listening to whatever agents talking to you. Okay, you know
Copeland would have played if he didn't have COVID, and
I was looking forward to seeing both Grimes and Copeland play.
(01:27:52):
But you know that that that's kind of the reality.
But back to the initial case, Like that's kind of
the culture right now in Florida is all these kids,
I think that they're good enough and they don't need
to plan these quote unquote exhibition games because the risk
of injury which is a one very low b you
can take out an insurance policy with which almost costs nothing.
(01:28:13):
And they listen to all these you know, these agents
out there who are worth a crap, who are going
to make a difference one way or another. Like I'm
sorry to you know, I'm sorry to say it that way,
but it's it's the reality. They've getting bad advice from
these guys. So you know, why would he want to leave.
I'd rather go and build a build a culture somewhere
else where. That's not going to be the case with
(01:28:34):
my players when it comes to an exhibition game like
a bowl game like that, which unfortunately you know wasn't
the case for the Floor of this year or Dan
Mullen for that matter. Okay, So the four names that
you had heard Urban Meyer, Dan Mullen, and then what
were the other two? Stark was one of us. Stark
was one of them, okay, and then the fourth was
can you say it or is it not? Is it
(01:28:57):
not republican something? For the fourth one, I'm not gonna say. Uh. Plus,
I don't think it was realistic, so it was kind
of irrelevant anyway. In all honesty, I'm just surprised that
Belichick would be interested in that. That's right. There's there's
always like a few names we're like, okay, why like
why are we talking about this right now? Um? Honestly,
(01:29:18):
the name I heard was Brian Kelly, and in her name,
and and the and the person who told me that
had reached down and was trying to talk to me
like I had the Scott's Inside Scoop butter and I
just replied to him, like, you're talking about a coach
that's two or three wins away from from beating Newton Rockney,
Like the all time winning is coach not here name history.
Do you think he wants to go down at this
(01:29:40):
point in time in his career to Texas? Like, look
what he's built a Notre Dame. You know, in ten games,
the best four year four years to go to the
college football Playoff? Why would he want to go to
Texas at this point? So, and I would argue that
Notre Dame's one of those jobs that I'd rather have
than Texas. Like there's a handful of job that I
(01:30:00):
think are better jobs in Texas. I think Notre Dame
is one of the man and what he's done there,
it may not result in the national championship. I'm not
leaving that for Texas. But that that's the funny thing
to me, right, So, Like this past weekend was that
opportunity for like all those blue bloods to come out
so well, Notre Dame doesn't belong all right, they don't belong. Well,
(01:30:22):
here here's here's the reality. Okay, I'm not going to
defend the performance of what happened out there. Okay, here's
here's some stats for you. In the past twelve national championships.
All right, Alabama is going forwards sixth Okay, yeah, they're there.
They have won fifty percent of the national championships or
(01:30:44):
they could be this year, including this year, in the
past twelve years. Think about that first. Okay, So for
all you blue bloods out there who were sitting there
thinking to yourselves, like no Texas or Michigan or usc um,
here's the truth. Okay, you haven't sniffed. You haven't sniffed
(01:31:05):
a national championship in the past decade. Okay, not sniffed one. Okay,
you haven't been there. You haven't done anything to give
yourself a chance. Okay, you haven't sniffed one. Notre Dame
has at least been to the playoff twice and it's
been to a national championship two thousand twelve. All right,
that's three opportunities. So for all the people want to
(01:31:26):
bash on Notre Dame because of the result of the game,
the reality is they're they're they're they're actually able to
get to the point where they're there, and one of
these times they're gonna win one, like one of these times,
it's actually gonna happen. And for all those other blue bloods,
they want to complain or talk trash, and look, I
work with a lot of USC alums. Okay, that they
(01:31:48):
bashed Notre Dame? Where there where the hell's USC been
since you stop paying players? You haven't been anywhere. So
the reality is like you could say what you want.
You know we're close, and so you could bash Notre Dame.
But like I went and went and watched the Orange Bowl.
I watched Texas and m the team that everyone was
clamoring for in the SEC to slide in that number
(01:32:09):
four spot. UNC, without their top two running backs and
one of their top receivers, gave them all they could handle.
It took them down to the final three minutes before
they scored a touchdown to go ahead, and then they
ended up getting a touchdown late on a on a
long run to cover the spread. But the reality was
that game was literally seven about three minutes left in
(01:32:33):
the fourth quarter. Stay for the whole thing. Watched it.
I'm sorry, Tech, San m fans, SEC fans, you didn't
deserve to have that team in there. We watched that
Alabama Notre Dame. Excuse me, the Alabama and n M game,
you lost my three scores, Like, I'm sorry to hear that.
Like the reality is Alabama is the best team in
the country. They're gonna show in the national championship game.
(01:32:55):
And Notre Dame just having to be the team that
they played the semifinal game. And look they lost my
margin of victory that was a lot less than you
know what Clemson lost to Ohio State did so well.
And here here's the other thing. If you were to
just say, going into the college football playoff, what are
the best two wins on the resume of anybody in
college football, in either order however you want to put it,
(01:33:18):
I would say Notre Dames went over Clemson and Clemsons
went over Notre Dame. By default, those two teams are
in I'm sorry, like those you can't find Texas A
and M doesn't have a win that competes. Neither did Cincinnati,
Coastal Carolina, Iowa State, Oakland. Like there was people then
after the fact going, you see, this is Oklahoma is
the team that really should have got home. We're gonna
(01:33:40):
reward ok Are we just gonna forget about the early
portion of the season, Like we're just gonna forget about
all that now that like like everyone's everyone's sitting. Look,
look how much they beat Florida by Florida was without
their top four receivers. They're just the three of their
best defending players. And you want to use that as
an example. Are we serious right now? Give me a break.
(01:34:01):
Like the entire college football you know, bowl season is
completely out of whack and it's all about hot sakes
and how people feel in the moment. Again, Expand the
playoffs so we at least have the opportunity to see
all these teams playoff. Hopefully more kids won't sit out.
But it's just it's it's absolutely bonkers to me when
(01:34:23):
people try to make the case for for Oklahoma like
you said, and we're just supposed to get rid of
their two lost don't worry about those anymore. I forget that, Like,
forget who they lost to and when they lost to him, right,
because it was early the season. They were a different
team now, right, Ah, you feel better, You gotta got
that off your chest. You feel better? Not not really,
(01:34:44):
not really, I mean to be honest with you, Like
it's it's a bit absurd. We have to deal with
this every single year, and talking about the college football playoff.
That's why I've been all four expansion because I look,
invite more teams to the party, you know, invite more
teams to see what they're capable of. You know, Then
we get to see what it looks like in the
eight or sixteen team playoff and we don't even have
(01:35:06):
to have these philosophical debates. We can sit there and
watch and we don't have to watch your six games
without the best players, because those New Year's six games
would now be a part of the eight or sixteen
you know, playoff games that we're seeing, and we get
to see the best players play. Brady Quinn Jonas Knox
here on Fox Sports Radio. Coming up next year on
fs ARE there's a team that is on their way
(01:35:29):
to the playoffs. But should they be concerned about what
we saw earlier. We'll dive into that next year on
Fox Sports Radio. Speaking of bad songs, He's Brady Quinn,
I'm Jonas Knocks. This is Fox Sports Radio. You can
hang out with us as always on the I Heart
Radio app. I'm sorry, this is a what did you say?
(01:35:51):
This is a classic songs bet in your radio career, Jonas,
that's actually I'm not going to disagree with that. Wow,
that's nice. You're not gonna sit here in disrespect this
song or every song that I play. Bro Like, at
some point in time, you have to acknowledge that some
of these songs are actually classics that I'm playing one
of them. Yeah, but I didn't. I didn't know that
I my entire radio career needed to be insulted like that.
(01:36:14):
I didn't know that on my music selection need to
be insulted every time I come to work. Ever, did
you did you write that song Balla? No? But I
play it for the listeners. Okay, you play it? Well.
I I use a certain you know, gas pump when
I go pump gas? Like, do I get offended when
somebody criticizes it? No, I'm just pumping gas. Well, I'm
offended because this is my hard work. All right? You
(01:36:34):
go to the full service? One that he does go
to the full service? Does he pays the premium for
he sits in his car and let someone else fill
up his gas. It's a little insulted. I just did.
My entire career was going to be insulted like that
I think someone else. I thought we were better than that.
I thought we were above all that. But apparently all right,
that's how it works. But Brady Quinn Jonas knocks here
(01:36:59):
on sports Trading. Hey, I'm gonna try and get my
radio career back on track here. I need I just
need to get my radio career back on track. Live
bet Jesus needs some points to get back on track,
because right now it is not looking good. Washington minus
six and a half was the pick. Brady Quinn um
needless to say. I don't know live bet Jesus, but
if I did know Live bet Jesus, I would say
(01:37:21):
he shouldn't feel confident about where they're at right now.
Just saying because Washington doesn't look all that great right now.
Brady very inspired performance by the Carson Wentz lists Philadelphia
Eagles just made. That is not a good bet. Okay,
just because doesn't make it a good bet at the time. Yeah,
(01:37:44):
I um, yeah, it's not looking hot. We have an
interception on the field. It appears to be an interception.
J D. Mckissic, the guy that Tom Brady will demand
a trade four in the off season. I'm calling my
shot already Uh, there's an interception on the field. Philadelphia
has the ball deep inside Washington territory. You know what
pisces me off about the Washington not having a team name.
(01:38:07):
I feel weird saying Washington Eagles, so I I in
turn have to then call the Eagles Philadelphia because it
just feels more natural. Because Washington Eagles game doesn't feel
all that good. That's why they could have at least
just come up with something temporarily, not this Washington football
team crap. We like, I tried to get Washington's nice yeah,
(01:38:31):
because you can't say Eagles after you say Washington. It
doesn't feel right right, And I'm crazy. I mean you
are crazy because no one would say, oh, Cleveland Steelers. Yeah,
say Cleveland versus Pittsburgh. Yeah. But it just it bothers me.
I'm not overthinking this. I think this is a mental
block for you. Is that you, over the course of
the next break, need to figure out on your own
(01:38:52):
it is. Um, here's our listeners into this, all right,
I'm just here's what I'll say. By the way, coming
up a little over five minutes from now here on
Fox Sports Radio, we are going to have another edition
of Over Unders here on FSR, Brady Quinn and I
are going to tell you what is going to happen
in the days ahead in the world of football and beyond.
That's coming up five minutes from now here on Fox
(01:39:13):
Sports Radio. Uh. You are a former Cleveland Brown. You
grew up a Cleveland Brown fan, all right. You've seen
them back when they were the original Cleveland Browns. Then
they moved to Baltimore, like you, so you know how
important them getting to the playoffs is. So just for starters,
you gotta feel happy being a former Brown somebody who
(01:39:34):
grew up a fan. You've got to feel happy for
the organization. And I want to give you an opportunity
just to talk about how special that is for the
organization and that fan base to finally have their team
back in the postseason before. I don't know that anyone
truly understands like what this UH fan base has been through.
I mean and in all seriousness, when when they left
(01:39:56):
to go to Baltimore back in the nineties, it was crushing.
And the reason why I say that is you have
to take into account this look at the Cleveland Indians
during that time, or Cleveland baseball team. They are changing
the name at some point. I don't know what so,
but but look at the Indians during that time. What
would they lose three back to back to back World
(01:40:18):
Series to the Braves. I think the Marlins, I'm not mistaken.
And so you think about the heartbreak there was that
jose Mason on the mound. Was he the guy on
the mound that that coughed it up? I think I
think it was. I think, I think you're right. I
can't quite recall. The other thing is think about the
Cleveland Cavaliers. They could never get out from underneath Michael
(01:40:41):
Jordan and the Chicago Bowls like that was always a
battle for them. So this is an or, this is
a city, this is a state that Look, I grew
up in central Ohio. When you grow up in central Ohio,
you gotta pick one or the other. And when you
were you know, I was on the I was on
Northwest Suburb. So I'm in Cleveland, and every single time
(01:41:02):
you were met with heartbreak. So for them to be
able to get back to the playoffs, and granted, look
that the Calves have won a championship. Lebron brought that
to them and a much more successful team at that
and so they have that to be thankful for. But
the truth is is Ohio is a football state. Cleveland's
a football town, Columbus is a football town. They live
(01:41:24):
and die by Ohio State in the Cleveland Browns and
the Bengals down in Cincinnati. So as great as it
was for Lebron to bring a championship to Cleveland, I'm
sorry this Brown's team. If they were to bring a
Super Bowl to Cleveland, it would be tenfold to what
the Calves did and what Lebron did. So there's there's
(01:41:45):
just a chance to get into the postseason and have
a shot. Is absolutely huge, and especially when you consider
the young talent that they have and a first year
head coach in Kevin Stefanski. Yeah, I mean no, it's
just a wonder full thing. That being said, Um, they're
gonna lose next week, right, so I think, you know,
(01:42:06):
maybe we need to start and you and I are
gonna be on the air because the Browns are gonna
get the Steelers. That's the late game on Sunday. Um,
it will be on the air for it. And I
just I wanted you to have a feel good moment
because I don't want to be the bear of bad news.
They're gonna lose next week. Okay, And your guy Baker Mayfield,
who's spending time on Twitter criticizing former Oklahoma coaches during
(01:42:30):
what does see? Why why? Why? What? If? You? I
have no idea, I actually thought in the past few
weeks even so good with handling the media, handling the questions, handling,
you know, with where they're at, taking accountability for his
play versus the Jets. And then they don't have practice
because they've been dealing with COVID and and really before
(01:42:51):
the biggest game, you can make the case the biggest
games is football career. He's tweeting or commenting on some
assistant that the Texas from Oklahoma, Like what jesus, I mean,
who cares, dude? It just like right when you think
(01:43:16):
Jason Whitlow gave him the nickname little Smokey and because
he said he always wants the smoke, He's always he's
got to have something to say. And it felt like, man,
he'd really taken a turn. And then that happens, and
I think I see, but the tweets were protected that
the coach shot back at him, because from my understanding,
so the coach is a former Oklahoma assistant who went
(01:43:39):
to Texas and and that was sort of the back
and forth like or or or he let a rook
he let the recruit go to Ohio State. But the
point being you've got a playoff game, a win and
get in scenario against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Who gives a
craft what's happening at Oklahoma? I mean, no offense. But
when when you're an NFL quarterback and you're trying to,
(01:44:01):
you know, win games for the Cleveland Browns, are you
even focused as to what the recruiting battle is and
who's losing the recruiting battle and notre dame when you're playing.
I had no idea to this day, to this day,
no idea about you know, the recruiting battle or what.
I have no idea and didn't have any idea why
I was playing and and really could care less, like
(01:44:25):
you know, that's up to the coaches that are there there,
the recruiting coordinator there, you know, all the people involved
who do all that, like that's their prerogative. And so
it was shocking to think that, like, why would you
be so catty even if you fell Trace Sermon, who's
been great for Ohio State got shunned during his time
in Oklahoma and is why he left to go to
(01:44:46):
Ohio State. Why would you feel it's necessary to yes,
very very very bizarre and then comes out and didn't
look all that great. I just that's what we talked
about this earlier. If I were a Browns fan, I'm
happy you got in, like be thrilled that you got in,
and the season starts over. I don't know how you're
(01:45:08):
feeling confident, confident going into next week's game. I really
don't like that. As much as you won that game,
you know, if they hit on that two point conversion,
and if the Browns you know, don't recover that on
site kitch with which they nearly didn't, the ball you know,
bounced a little bit and was on the ground there
for the taking that, I think it's a completely different
(01:45:28):
ball game and we're maybe a different conversation now. I
just I don't know, man, I don't know how you
feel confident if you're a Browns fan after what I
saw earlier. I'm just saying closer victory than I think
the the experts would say was the line ten. I'm
not really into gambling. It's not really my thing. So yeah,
it's not really you have no inside Infoever, it might
(01:45:51):
have been ten, you know, it might have been around
ten ten points. Uh so, yeah, much closer than I'm
looking at William Hill. Okay. Yeah, And they had it
opening a seven and then going to tend and that
was as soon as Ben Roethlisbergers analysis sitting out this game.
And so the Browns one by two did not cover.
(01:46:11):
And and that's a little bit surprising considering the Steelers
set as many stars as they could and then the
Browns obviously still were impacted by COVID. But but you'd
think though, they still should be able to beat up,
beat beat some backups by a sizeable margin. Yeah, at
home with it with a definitive home field advantage. There,
I heard it. I mean they were they were really
(01:46:32):
pumping in the crowd noise at that game. Today. I
don't know if you noticed that or not, but if
you just turned from that game to another game, there
was a clear difference in the volume. That wasn't the fans,
that was some piped in noise. So they did as
much as they could there in the dog Pound, the
old dog Pound there in Cleveland, all right, Um. By
the way, did you ever regret choosing the Browns over
the Bengals growing up? At any point during your time?
(01:46:52):
Did you ever think why did I do? Never? I
was a Bernie Kozar fan, Eric Metcalf, Kevin mc all
those guys. I love Kevin. The biggest shoulder pads in
the history of Webster slaughter. Oh God, what a name.
We should have been a professional wrestleman. Municipal stadium. I
(01:47:14):
remember we had tickets. My my grandfather told me we
went to a game, my uncle, my dad and um
and my grandfather and I will never forget sitting a
municipal stadium and they're being this gigantic support pole beam
right in the vision of the field, so like for
about I would say, maybe five like five yards. You're
(01:47:37):
you're ducking and weaving in around this pole to see
what the hell is going on in the field. At
the old at the old municipal stadium, it was. It
was a great experience. Tail that was great. It's same
thing at Wrigley. If you sit far enough back behind
home plate or on the first or third third base line,
you've got a duck down to see what the score
(01:47:58):
is because you can't see the word, but it's awesome,
all right. Brady Quinn Jonas knocks here on Fox Sports

and goal at the four and proceeded to throw three
straight in completions. They did not attempt the field goal,
and Washington is still leading by three so far in
this game. Jalen Hurts with one interception, two touchdown runs.
(01:49:00):
Alex Smith one interception, two touchdown passes. If Washington wins,
it'll take the East crown. If not, it'll go to
the Giants, who beat Dallas today. This division's winner will

did Green Bay. The Packers won at Chicago thirty five sixteen,
so Green Bay or and it's the one seed in

the Championship a week from Monday, Alabama against Ohio State
in Miami. Meanwhile, right now in the NBA, Steph Curry

Steve Jonas knocks Brady Quinn here on Fox Sports Radio.
Coming up in we'll call it twelve minutes from now
(01:51:07):
here on fs are we are going to get the truth.
There's there's some strategies that a few teams used earlier
in the NFL. We're gonna find out whether or not
that's actually true. I feel like I'm being lied to.
That will be coming up twelve minutes from now. Right now,
it's time for something we do on the show called
this time to put your money where your mouth is.
(01:51:27):
You know, you're life, it's over under And for that
we turn it over to our executive producer, lead to
laugh to find out what the hell we got in
store for this weekly all right, you guys, Black Monday tomorrow.
Number of head coaches fired between now and the end
of Black Monday. So this excludes Adam Gaze three and
(01:51:48):
a half, you guys, jesus okay, So so when is
the alright, so between now and when, bub, what would
you like us to call it? I don't know, something Monday. No,
thanks for the solution. There's a problem you at least
you feel like there's a problem. Thanks for providing the
(01:52:08):
solution that you think a second about end of the segment.
I have a solution, Okay, all right, I'll take the
under What was the number three and a half? Uh gosh,
I mean most of the most of the damage has
been done, right, I'll that's one. Who else we got an?
(01:52:28):
I think Zach Taylor is safe? Um Peterson safe, big
Fangio safe. I mean that, Naggy, because they're probably going
of the playoffs, right, Oh yeah, they are the Nickelodeon playoffs. Yeah. Right.
You have three interim coaches with Raheem Mostart, Romeo Cornell
(01:52:51):
and Ricky Morris. Hold didn't I Morris? Sorry? Hold on, Lee, Yeah,
interim counting those guys the interim coaches being fired? Are
you kidding me? I would taking the under taking the
under Okay, hold on, Joe, No, I'm including the interim
(01:53:16):
under but they will hire them as full time head coaches.
You count that as a firing by the end of Monday.
Oh Jesus, Jonas, do you understand what you're saying. He's saying, Lee,
They've already made the firing, so alright, fine, no, no,
interim under just that easy, see Lee, you know what
you get from me? Lee? Straight into the point, quick
(01:53:38):
and easy. Bang bang you know what like my love life?
Bang bang right there, quick and easy, just like that.
One minute, many real quick a minute? Why you rounding up?
Can we all agree? Though? Like Lee wanted to try
to count interim head coaches? Did he did? Yeah? Very
naked kidding me. I moving on Wild Card weekend. You guys,
(01:54:02):
Colts Bills, Philip Rivers passing touchdowns one and a half
over Oh man. I'm not an agist like Jonas, so
I'm not going to hold it against Philips like Jonas.
I'm not. I just here's what I'm gonna take the under.
(01:54:24):
I think that they're going to try and run the
ball and keep the ball out of the hands of
Josh Allen in that offense. And I think we're going
to see a heavy dosage of our guy, Jonathan's I'm
just saying heavy dose of our guy Jonathan Taylor, and
I believe that it's gonna be under one and a
half touch announce for Philip Rivers. That's what I believe. Lee,
(01:54:45):
all right, Ramsay, Rams and Seahawks, we expect Jared got
to be back. But will there be a snap for
John Wolford at a half? Oh? The Gary Oldman stunt double,
the guy who was the pimp off true romance u
um before Okay, hold on a second, how how's golf
(01:55:11):
gonna come back? What's he gonna use Roy Munson's rubber hand?
Like the guy broke his thumb all of a sudden
a week later, he's gonna be able to grip a football.
I'm not buying it. Give me the overly. I'll take
John Walford and the overly. Alright, Ravens at Titans, the
two best rushing offenses in the league. Total rushing yards
between both teams three hundred and thirty eight yards. That's
(01:55:34):
a lot of it, but but I mean that's what
they do. I'm gonna take the over because I want
the over. Three what three? Wow? Um? This is tough.
This is tough because because here's the thing is, like,
whichever team wins, they gonna run for a craps is
(01:55:57):
they're planning, so um over, I'm gonna take the under.
Just just the differ with Jonas on this. Lastly, you
guys a number of lower seeds that win in the
wild card round one and a half. Over, hold on,
hold on, hold on, okay, you already said no, no, no,
(01:56:17):
hold on, hold let me take this trail. I mean,
did I did I miss something? He said, I'll take
the over, take the over all right, I'll take the under? Hey, Lee,
real quick? Yes, why don't you tell us toone last week?
That's a good question, Brady. Let's go back to it.
Last week we had Monday night football between Buffalo and
New England. Why did we do that? Josh Allen passing
(01:56:39):
touchdowns in that game? We had it at one and
a half. Jonas took the under, but he had way
over at four. And then we also had Cam Newton
rushing yards. He only he did rushing for a touchdown,
but he did hit the under under thirty eight and
a half. He only rushed for twenty four. That was
for Brady for that was a sweet Brady, you got it?
But all right? Very good? Uh? We done? Plea? I mean,
(01:57:00):
do you think he plays for the Packers? You gotta
wash his balls like that? Go back to the back.
You want to include internet. Can I put a lot
of thought into that about who was going to be
fired by the end of Lee? Can I get Lee,
can I get let me tell you something. Can I
call my shots specifically on the last one we did
the never lower seats to win wild Card weekend? Tampa
(01:57:21):
Bay is a lower seed, They're gonna beat whoever they
play from the NFC East, And then I think Baltimore
is beat in Tennessee. Calling my shot that you can
be double points and that you cancel out one of
Brady's no, no, no, it's you made your pick. Brady,
Yeah I did. I'll go ahead and take it. Because
Jonas lost well pretty much every week. I still want
to go back to the head coach. Do you want
(01:57:44):
to talk about it next Okay, all right, we will
get to the bottom of what the hell Lee to
laugh was just saying on the air, and we'll have
it for you next year on Fox Sports Radio. I'm
a woman. Careful whatever you do, Brady, don't criticize the music.
You'll get your career poked fun of right here on
live radio. Gotta be careful. You sound like the more
(01:58:05):
sensitive one in this whole debate. Gotta be careful here, Brady,
gonna get your career thrown under the bus by a
quote unquote friend on live radio. By the way, Brady
Quinn Jonas knocks here Fox Sports Radio coming up ten
minutes from now here on fs ARE we will hear
from Chris Plank and Arnie Spaniard. We will be taking
(01:58:26):
over the airwaves here ten minutes from now here on
Fox Sports Radio as we get more child sounds from
the adult that plays video games. All right, so Brady Quinn,
let's uh, let's get into what is happening on Sunday
Night football because we have to have our little turn interceptions.
(01:58:48):
We've got Nate Sudfield coming in for Jalen Hurts. We've
got a lot going on. Okay, why is Nate Sudfield
in the game. Well, I mean, you know, Doug Peterson,
they can't make the playoffs, and you know what we do.
I have no idea. Okay, I really don't at this point.
Just make Greg Ward the quarterback. What the other thing
is I would say is why would you why would
(01:59:08):
you give any head coach before they play the final
game a vote of confidence? Not not that one game
should make or break your decision on that head coach,
but I just I kind of feel like there's no
reason that to say, like, ay, Doug Peterson safe or
to create that report that's what came out before today's game. Yeah,
I just I don't know, man, I'm I'm struggling to
(01:59:31):
figure out what the what's happening here? Nate Sudfield comes in,
throws an interception, Alex Smith gets the ball. Uh, he
throws an interception. So now Philadelphia down seventeen fourteen, has
the football under ten minutes to go in the game
here on Washington and now and now um and now
(01:59:53):
we've got another turnover. This is uh. I mean, if
there was one way to to describe, what's the one
one thing, if you were to, if you were to,
just you want me to give you the description of
what's happened in the past two plays. Yeah, do you
have circus music? Give me some circus music. And then
imagine a dumpster. Okay, imagine that dumpster filled with a
(02:00:15):
bunch of trash, and then you go ahead and just
douse that with gasoline. Go ahead and light that match.
Toss it in there. Baby, This is a dumpster fire.
This is the NFC East, This is what it is.
This is what you look for. And Chase Young, you
almost pick up that fumble, ran back for a touchdown.
We've seen that before. Uh, then this case, he's able
(02:00:36):
to get the fumble, he's able to return it. He's
he's a shoeing for Defensive Rookie of the Year. But now, really,
what's key about this Jonas is he puts the Washington
football team on the fringe and the chance of covering
was a six and a half six half light at
Jesus tried to tell you, man alive and well Washington
(02:00:56):
minus six and a half, That's what he tried to
tell you. Hey, let me ask you this, Brady quinn Um.
When they tell you when teams say that, oh, we're
not watching scoreboards, We're not scoreboard watching in week seventeen
when you need help in order to get into the postseason,
that's a lie, right, Like like they're lying correct. I mean, obviously,
(02:01:18):
in the case of the New York Giants, there's nothing
they can do because this game was played tonight, right,
so they won. They needed watching to lose, so they're
just watching the game. But it's a lie. What some
organizations will do though, They won't post the score because
they don't want the team to actually see it and
think about it. So some organizations will literally have the
(02:01:40):
guy controlling it, not post it. Yeah, let me tell
you something. Post this, all right, You just go ahead
and post this. Brady Quinn
