Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports. That's right, another Sunday edition
of The Quinn and Knock Show. And let me tell you,
I don't know how you guys feel able watching March
Madness the first second round. A lot of upsets, a
lot of crazy things happening in a crazy year, and
really what it's been, especially not having March Madness last year.
(00:22):
But looking at this tournament, I really thought we were
gonna find some of those Cinderella stories. But the big dogs,
the number one seed, some of the best teams in
college basketball, decided to put a lot of those dreams
to an end. We still got a bunch more basketball
left to play. We've got some teams who have emerged
and moved on to the to the Elite eight. But
tonight we've still got some good basketball going on. Alabama
(00:44):
U c l A taking one another on. Alabama getting
off to a pretty fast start, um and and you
know how the lead at one point, but U c
l A came racing back. So that's gonna be a
fun one to keep an eye on later on tonight,
USC and Oregon a battle in the Pack twelve, taking
on and taking each other on for a spot in
the Elite eight. That should be a fun one to
(01:05):
kind of round things out. And then obviously two more
days of basketball. But Jonas says, I continue to vamp
and so we can finally get you connected for the
second week in a row. How you doing, Jonas, what's
going on? You know that I was there the whole time.
Of course you were. I was there the whole time.
I just you know, I wanted to you know, this
was a test. We wanted to see how you would
(01:26):
do if we took away, you know, just some of
the peripherals here. And so there you go. And it's
always good to find out thirty seconds before the show starts.
You know. The other thing is it's good to know
when one of your friends has an issue with eating
too much bread, and sometimes that can impact their promptness
to be on time for something. If you know what
I'm getting that, Okay, well, that's out of line. I
(01:47):
don't think we need to bring up personal stuff here,
just because I didn't purchase a four dollar loaf of
soda bread, which is some Irish concoction of carbohydrates that somehow,
some ways and stores around the tree during the month
of March. Because of st Patty's Day, So I apologize
that it was it was Patrick's Day. It was a discount,
(02:07):
and you wouldn't buy I think there was mold on
it from the picture you showed. You still didn't buy
it for like two dollars. Absolutely not. I refused to
pay that much money for that. But here's what here's
what I would recommend you do, all right. I would
recommend you get involved with farmers all right, because we
are broadcasting live from the Farmers Insurance Fox Sports Radio studios.
Call one eight eight Farmers to switch and you could
(02:28):
save on your auto insurance. What else are you gonna
do with your phone for the next few minutes? Look
at pictures of food? Your friends eight again already did
that to Brady earlier this week, called one eight eight
farmers for a quote. We are farmers, pretty quinn. I
got a question for you, all right, I got a
question for you, And I feel like you're the one
who can show starts at eight p m Eastern Okay
(02:51):
or five pm Pacific, that that's when it starts. That
what you're gonna ask. It's it's great that we can
continue to harp on that so that the people that
are tuning in that had no idea that we had
technical difficulties. Are aware that we had technical difficulties in
the show. So I think that we could keep that
theme going throughout the entire show, just as a reminder
that there was some technical issues to start the show.
I think that's the way we want to do this.
(03:12):
All will Yeah, And again, I just want to apologize
for the question I asked you last week that was
out of line. That was because last week was again
was the time when which you were laid again for
the show. Okay, so let me let me just ask
you a question because I feel like you can answer
this one. What happened all these uh, you know, upsets?
And it's going to be the story of Cinderella and
(03:34):
the tournament and this is gonna be so unique. And
here we are. We got the Elite eight, which is
pretty much set barring the conclusion of one game, and
we got another one going on. But we've already got
three number one seeds that are going to end up
in the Elite eight right now. So this idea that
we were going to see nothing but Cinderella is what
happened all that. I'm just curious what happened all those stories. Yeah,
(03:55):
I think what happened was the cream rose to the top.
As some would say, you know, the the big dogs
came out to eat um. You know, let it swang,
as some others would say. But uh no, you're seeing
the best basketball team start to kind of settle in
and emerge as some of the top in the tournament.
Now we'll say this Alabama, they are down by eleven
(04:16):
points heading into half versus U c l A really
interesting game with the way it started. I'm not sure
if you saw the beginning of this game, but um,
the SEC player of the years that Herbert Jones I
believe it was for is his name, but found out ructions.
They found out I got two quick fouls in forty
one seconds, and you know, look, one of them I
thought was a foul. The other one kind of kind
(04:37):
of ticky tack. For the way they were calling it
early on completely changed the beginning of the game. You
sell A jumped out to a lead, then Alabama came
storming back, took a lead somewhat commanding. Then U c
l A responded. So it's been interesting to watch this
first half. However, Alabama is on the ropes right now.
We'll see what the Bruins have in store for them
(04:57):
the second half, but for the most part, the number
one Seeds have looked like number one seeds. Do you
ever get in foul trouble playing basketball like organized basketball? Not?
I mean, I can't think of because I did well,
I could see that being the case for you. You know,
I played one year of youth organized basketball and in
(05:19):
one game I picked up three fouls. You can only
have five. I picked up three fouls in the first
two minutes of play, just I couldn't. Now. The good
news is I didn't pick up a foul the rest
of the game, and that's also because I didn't play
very much. And then another time, we were leading a
team by three or no, we were leading a team
(05:39):
by four. They had one chance to tie the game,
and I fouled the guy shooting the three, and he
made it, but he missed the free throw, and while
he was trying to get the rebound and went for
a shot, I literally threw him on the ground. And
I'm shocked to this day they didn't call that a foul. Also,
that should have been a foul that was more egregious.
So I know what it's like to foul problems in
(06:00):
basketball games, man. Just you know, I can see you
being the guy that goes in there and they used
to like give some rough for like hard fouls to
set the town or trying to take out the best player.
Was that your role? Yeah? That was my Listen, you
find the guy that's the least athletic and least talented
and just say, hey, you're you're disposable. Just go out
there and pick up a bunch of fouls and and
(06:21):
do what you need to do out there to play
a little bit dirty. And that was my role, and
I wore that role proudly. You know, you need guys
like that in the locker room. I don't know if
you know that or not, man, but I played the game.
You need guys like that in the locker room, and
I was one of those guys. It's like, yeah, you
gotta have guys like that. Yeah, but you have to.
I yeah, I can't recall ever having too much issues
with foul trouble, but but it's it's it's been a
(06:43):
little time since I played um so who Obviously your
bracket is busted, My brackets gone. We talked about that
or no, is your bracket busted or you still need busted.
I look, I have Gonzaga beating Baylor in the national championship,
the other number one seed Michigan. I believe. I think
I think I had Alabama, Gonzaga and and Baylor in
(07:06):
the final four along with I have to go back
and look who who it was but alive. Well, sure
you're still alive, aren't you. Uh did we do it
this year? I don't think I even feel one out. Yeah, yeah,
I wasn't sure. I know we're tied as far as
points go, like neither of us have done I don't
know anyone, by the way, who did do well, but
(07:28):
we do have still have some teams alive, right, Um yeah,
I mean, you know, to be honest with you, I
just fill it out for fun. I don't really take
it all that seriously. So I didn't even know like
who's left remaining, I mean that they were. You don't
have Illinois winning at all? Did you that? There were
some rumblings that I might have had Illinois winning at all? Um?
I can't confirm nor deny that there was also some
rumblings I had Ohio State in the final four. Um.
(07:49):
By the way, I do like the little switcher rue
that you pulled on me. Let me tell you about
what a scam Brady Quinn is. This is a total
scam job switch your rue that he pulled on me
when it came to the n c A tournament. And
you don't think that I know that you did this,
But I know that you did this, and I'm gonna
call you out on it right now. You and I
were filling in for Clay Travis. Remember that we worked
a couple of days together during St. Patty's Day week
(08:11):
and we were discussing the n c A Tournament because
it was starting that week, and you said that you
liked Ohio State to go to the final four. All right,
So what did I do? I wanted to be a
loyal co host. I wanted to be a loyal friend,
and I said, you know what, man, just like in backdraft,
you go, we go. So what did I do? I
(08:31):
picked Ohio State to go to the final four. Then
I go and look at your bracket after it's submitted
and everything's closed down, and guess what. You didn't have
Ohio State in the final four. A full blown switcherrou
You don't think that. I noticed that. I noticed that
right away. What a pain in the ass. Yeah, you know.
You know what happened is I was trying to pick
between the two, and I said, you do Alabama drum.
(08:58):
It's literally such crap. That's the only reason I picked
Ohio State because I was, all right, Brady's got some
loyalty to Ohio State. Columbus Dublin there right next to
each Illinois. Um, well, okay, because I have family that
lives in Illinois, I bet okay. I picked Duke every year,
but Duke wasn't in it, and I said, okay, what's
(09:18):
the next best thing? I got family in Illinois. My
dad was an Illinois fan, and I said, you know what,
why don't I just roll with Illinois this year? I'll
just roll with Illinois. That's fine, I'll just roll with Illinois.
The guys from Champagne and they went out and they
decided to defecate in their hands and smear themselves with
it in the second round of the tournament. So it
was over because of them, and because of your little
(09:39):
SWITCHERU garbage scam that you pulled by telling me you
were gonna take Ohio State. I thought we were going
all in together, and then the door closes behind me
and I turned around and you're not there. It's the
gimp from pulp fiction Full blown switch a Rue by
Brady Quinn, and I'm fed up with it? Can we
get a bell? We we hit our our quota? So
far from pulp fiction tonight, we still have left the
(10:01):
backdraft and jaws. Hold on a second, Hold on, well,
I did you mention backdraft? You go? Wen? Did you? Yeah?
Already crossed? Yeah, there you go. So you're for two
so far? Yeah? So if you so. If you're wondering
what eighties and nineties bingo game card you need for
for the references here, those two are already taken off
the board. But seriously, why tell somebody you're gonna go
(10:23):
one way and then go the other just to screw
him over, just just to do them dirty like that.
I don't think I've done anything that kind of. That
wasn't my intent. It was. I was not thinking that
you were going to take my college basketball advice or
acumen and then put it to work. Okay, that was
not what I thought was gonna happen. I think you
(10:44):
watched Ohio State this year. I think you you thought
they were a team that could make a potential run,
as did many other people, not just Buckeye fans, and
you put him as part of your final four. Now me,
on the other hand, all right, I light Nate, Nate Oaks.
I like what he's done with this team. I like
a strategy someone had told me, um the way they
scrimmage or practice, they do something where and I could
(11:06):
be absolutely bashing this, but it's like they scrimmage and
it's a three's of three. I think it lay ups
like one point and then if you shoot anything else
in between, like any midrange shot, it's like negative one
or doesn't counter something like and well it's they're doing
it too, and to basically incentivize them to either hey,
(11:26):
drive to the whole, get a layup, get you know,
try to find an open paths to get a layup
or take a three. That's how the game is played
now in the NBA. It's kind of how it's played
in in uh in college basketball. If you've got some
shooters as well, and they have chucked up a lot
of threes this year, they've been really successful in doing it. However,
as we see in this game, you know at one point.
They were down with seven seven. No, they came back,
(11:48):
they built a double digit lead. Now they're packed down
by double digits. So it ebbs and flows throughout the
course of the game. And if you noticed, in in
the East college basketball games of the tournament, if a
team gets down by double digits, they don't come back
nearly as much as an NBA team does. Like this,
this could be curtains. This game could be over and
U c l A could be advancing because they're up
eleven and a half um here. And this is why
(12:10):
you and I have talked about this. You miss nineteen
nineties basketball, right, just the physical uh, just grueling sort
of nineteen nineties basketball. Correct, you're a big fan of that, right,
because we've talked about that before. Me too, I'm the
same way. This is why Zion Williamson is our only
hope because in a three point dominant league he doesn't
shoot him at all, and he's a top ten score
(12:32):
He's our only hope. He's our only hope to get
back what we need in the NBA and in basketball,
which is somebody saying, hey, you know what, maybe I
don't need to park twenty five ft behind the basket
just because three means more than two, and I can
make a move and I can get and get to
the rim and get baskets whenever I want. Zion Williamson
is our only hope if we want to get basketball
(12:53):
the way it should be run and not this gimmick
sport that it's turned into. I think the only thing
standing our way is well biscuits and gravy. You know,
him putting on way too much way there, Normans and
uh yeah, he's looking okay. And you know what, I've
never been to New Orleans, but I've heard that there's
a health food store on every single corner, all right,
So I think we're gonna be our Like the foods fantastic.
(13:15):
It's amazing down there. But you'll definitely put on some
that there's no doubt that is that is one of
the best cities for food. However, that's not necessarily the healthiest.
Let's put it that way, all right. Brady quinn Jonas
knocks here on Fox Sports Radio from the Farmers Insurance
Fox Sports Radio Studios. All Right, coming up next year
on fs are a blockbuster trade in the NFL. One
(13:39):
team is now on the clock. We'll tell you where

(14:00):
three times NFL All Pro Shawn Mari and I have
a new sports podcast called The lights Out Podcast with
Sean Marine. This podcast especial to me is I get
a chance to talk to some of the best we've
ever done it on the field or the track. So
whether it's talking to a Super Bowl champion for a
NASCAR Cup Series champion, the lights Out Podcast will bring
it to you the only way I know how to.
(14:21):
I'm giving you the best insight from the best we've
ever done it. Listen to lights Out with Shawn Marim
on the I Heart Radio app or wherever you get
your podcast. Yeah. I thought maybe we're playing some Little Nas.
I'm not sure if you've seen what's going on with
him lately, Little Nas boy that's gotten weird. I'll just
put it that way. What is Little Nas? Yeah? Yeah,
(14:43):
I need to bring Bobo in for this one. But
isn't it just nas What is uh? What it's It's
it's Little nas Little nas X. Is that? Yeah? Bobo,
can you explain what the hell is going on with
Little naz X? Are you talking about the sneaker? Do
if you want to call it a sneaker deal? What
if you want to call that? So he's selling sneakers
(15:05):
with blood in them is apparently, but Nike's come out
and said that's not true. I mean, can I bean?
Is that a good look for anyone to be selling
shoes with real human blood? Its supposedly? Probably not. Yeah,
I actually have the name of it. After Jonas does
something that we need him to do. Yeah, well, listen,
look you guys, um, we're talking about just great products,
(15:26):
and we're talking about great things in the world of sports.
And although Brady Quinn is great, and although me Jonas knocks,
I'm just sort of average to mediocre, and I know
Bobo is great. Whatever we are, we're doing it all
live from the Farmers and Sharon's Fox Sports Radio Studios.
Call Farmers Today for a quote. Continue on with this
worthless conversation about some guys blood sneakers. Brady. The shoe
(15:50):
was called the Nike Airmax ninety seven Satan's Shoe by Mischief.
That's literally the name of the shoe. But Nike has
come out and said that it's not true. They said
that they don't have anything with it anything is he
advertising it? I mean, you've got even like players and
people are kind of coming out saying this is this
is a little bit off. It's a little bit weird,
and the whole thing is confusing. Little Nasax what is
(16:14):
that like a cold medicine and you come up with
that name? Come on now, he named itself after nas Okay, yeah,
there's that too. Hey, by the way, that's that's brought
to you by the King of Crenshaw. Yeah, listen, people know,
people know what I You know, I'm just setting you
guys up so you guys can take all the shine.
(16:34):
That's what I'm doing here. I'm just trying to be
trying and run pointing of this show, trying to James
telling me about it. Yeah, tell me um. Yeah, although
I don't have an autographed jersey up at a strip
club in Houston because I'm there so often. Yeah, so
so that's the only is there all the time? That's
(16:54):
such bs. I mean you have got that jersey from anywhere,
from anyone who knows where they got that jersey from. Okay,
so you're so where is your all right? Let me
ask all right? This is a really fun conversation. Have
you know you walk into some places and they've got
those autograph pictures of celebrities are up on the wall
to make you like, oh, they were there too. Where
can we find an autograph picture? You want to flats? Okay,
(17:18):
what do you want? There's for some reason, I don't
know if it's just want boarded one. There's one like
when I first moved to South Florida, sounds like my
in laws. Sounds like my in laws cover band, yeah,
or maybe your next cover band. Um. For whatever reason,
they asked me, They're like, hey, can you take a photo?
And son I was like yeah sure. Then they put
(17:38):
up on the up on this wall next to like
all these other people, and I was like, this is
not good. This is not good. But you can't see
that to take it down? What do you say, cease
and desist? I want you to post to my photo
of you and the manager or owner whoever it was
that day. And so I think it like a multiple
Tijuana flats locations and everyone everyone whoever, like who lives
(18:02):
down here that I know that goes to it. They
always take a picture and make fun of me about it.
I'm like, yeah, what do you want me to do?
Like I was trying to be nice to the guy,
and then next thing I know, they put me up,
you know, put me up in this wall, and I'm
stuck with all these other people who are like, that's
the one photo I wish I didn't take. What the
hell is t want a flat? Honestly, I've it's actually
(18:23):
pretty good Mexican like a cantina, like a Mexican restaurant.
Yeah yeah, I mean I wouldn't call a cantina. Um,
they do serve alcohol there, so clearly they'll be attractive
to you. But no that it's good. Food's good. Mr.
I gave up booze for lame, and now I'm gonna
stand on my on my o'duel soap box and let
everybody know how because Jonas likes to have a beer
(18:44):
to or tend from time to time that I'm gonna
give him a hard time here and bust his balls
on national radio. There's no bigger lightweights. I appreciate it.
There it is nothing, but it is like the world
stops spinning you lightweight, by the way, anybody that's interested
it and feeling really good about yourself only to feel
worse about yourself over a three hour span. You're welcome
(19:06):
to do a show with Brady Quinn anytime. This is
wonderful news from Brady Quinn as he continues to just
pile on and and treat me like crap and all
of this just because I got in the Winter Circle
last week on Headliner Live. That's all this is. It's
just bitterness, that's all this is right off the bat,
which we all right, very good, all right, So Brady
Quinn Jonas Knocks here on Fox Sports Radio. I did
(19:27):
look up Tijuana Flats locations in Florida, North Carolina, Indiana,
and Virginia. How about that? How about that, Brady Quinn.
So if you are near a Tijuana Flats in Florida
and you see a picture of Brady Quinn tweeted over
at the Jonas Knocks, I'd love to feast my eyes
on this fraudulent picture that's up there at a at
a restaurant that Brady Quinn didn't approve of I would
(19:47):
love to would love to see how that works. All right, So,
Brady Quinn, we have got several angles on this forty
niners blockbuster trade that we have got to get into.
I want to make sure we've got full time on this.
And the one thing about you and I? All right,
what do they call us on Sunday nights? All right?
What is the one thing that you and I do
better than anybody? And in fact, we've been given a name. Alright,
(20:08):
the initials are C G. What do they call us?
Brady Quinn? Come on, that could go a lot of
different directions. Clock guys, the clock guys. That's that's what
we are. That's what we are. Sorry, it's just it's
what we did. We're we're clock guys. Now, you gotta
be careful saying that. Um, you know, you could trip
(20:28):
up and say something different and then we you know,
we got to hear uh, you know from the bosses
and the powers of b But we are clock guys.
And so I want to make sure we've got full
time to dive into the forty niners angle of this
blockbuster trade and what it means towards the top of
the NFL Draft and We're gonna have that for you
next year on Fox Sports Radio. But for all the
latest from around the world of sports, ladies and gentlemen,

a second, first award from Farmers, Farmers and you could say,
when your auto insurance, what else are you gonna do
with your phone in the next few minutes? Look at
(23:00):
photos of things other people. Eight called one eight Farmers
to get a quote. We are Farmers written my FARMERSCU
Fine insurance changes on available every state. Jonas knocks Brady
Quinn here on Fox Sports Radio Company Alive from the
Farmers Insurance Fox Sports Radio Studios. Call one eight eight
Farmers to switch and you could save a bundle on
(23:21):
your auto insurance. Coming up here fifteen minutes from now
on Fox Sports Radio. A tweet has been sent live.
Bet Jesus has sent out the tweet. Apparently he's gonna
be showing up here at about fifteen minutes. Brady quin
to make people some money like he usually does. So
apparently that's gonna happen here, uh adio. We're already at
that point the show. We have to start time. I'll
(23:42):
live bed Jesus. I mean, we haven't even got into
the meat of this show so far. It's formattics. You
got to tease ahead like this is radio. I don't.
I don't think that's something we want to tease, like
teasing makes people want to listen. You mentioned line Bed Jesus.
I think there's an adverse reaction to that. Hold on,
hold on a second. You know you could sit here.
You can criticize live at Jesus all you want, but
(24:02):
I'll have you know. He is on the doorstep of
a thousand followers on Twitter, all right, he's got almost
a thousand followers on how many of those are fake?
Probably like nine. But that's not the point. The point
is it's all a numbers game. You know how this works,
and and it looks like he does have a loyal following.
They might be bots, they might be fake, there might
be both pull accounts. I don't know. I don't because
(24:23):
it is all a numbers game. You're right, and Alabama
is they're bringing the numbers now they're hitting some three
is on a seven oh run, it's close, it's now
you slay still with the lead. But Alabama, they're coming back,
the Crimson Tide's coming back. We need Alabama. This is
this has been my thing with Illinois gone and my
bracket busted. I want Alan I want Alabama to win
the national championship. And here's why. If Alabama wins it
(24:47):
in football and basketball. You know how much people eight
the SEC. You know how obnoxious SEC fans are. If
Alabama fans can not only claim the national championship in
football but can also do it in bass football in
the middle of a pandemic, they will be insufferable. And
I want to be here for it. I want Alabama
to win, and I want SEC fans, in particular Obama
(25:09):
blow hard, bloviating fans, to rub it in everybody's face.
That's when I'm into I want Alabama to win it.
I'm all in on Alabama. I don't know about their
gimmick practices, and you know all these all you get
four points for this, should get two for this mid
range Here is another three points. I don't know what
we're doing here. It's not a ski ball game at
some carnival somewhere in Tuscaloosa. All right, it's basketball practice, coach,
(25:31):
but the way I completely butchered that in the first segment,
So let me just reiterate what I was trying to say. So,
NATO's the head coach there. He this is how he
does it. So for a mid range point, when they're
scrimmaging a mid range shot, they get one point for that,
all right. At the rim they get two points, so layup, dunk,
that sort of thing. College three is still three. And
(25:53):
then if you're talking about like Steph Curry, range four
points for that shot when they scrimmage. And so so
that's the did you these implemented there? It's made them successful.
It's obviously where a lot of NBA teams are now
chucking up a bunch of threes. But that's what they've
tried to implement at Alabama, and so far it's working,
although it's they've been a little hot and cold. Tonight,
(26:13):
I'll be interested to see how this one ends. All right,
So I want you to do this. Let's everybody altogether,
everybody listening here on Fox Sports Radio. I want you
to make just the a gesture with your hands. Everybody
listening in the car, if your car is pulled over
to the side of the road, if you're listening on
the app, I want everybody to make a gesture with
your hands. Pretend like you're picking up a box of something.
All right, now, here's what I want you to do.
(26:33):
I want you to pick up that box and I
want you to move it over to the left or
the right, but get it out of the way. That
box is basketball talk. We will no longer be doing
basketball talk on this show for the rest of the
show because Brady Quinn, let's get to the task at hand. Here.
We've got a blockbuster trade in the NFL. The San
Francisco forty Niners have moved up to number three. It
(26:55):
was done, it was finished, It was completed on Friday.
But now the conversations have begun. What are they doing
with the pick of three? What does it mean for
Jimmy Garoppolo, all sorts of layers. You saw the trade
go down, initial reaction, and how has it changed forty
eight hours later? Yeah, I think the initial reactions though
they're going up to get a quarterback, right, The interesting
(27:18):
thing about what they gave up to move up to
number three, where you're behind potentially two teams that are
gonna be taking their pick at quarterback first. It's kind
of interesting. I mean, it really is when you think
about it. It's a big move. It's one that maybe signals, yeah,
there's a player they're targeting. But explain to me, how
(27:39):
can they have any any idea after one, Like I
think it's all assumed that Trevor Lawrence is going to
Jacksonville Jaguars. So for starters, that's probably everyone's first pick,
first quarterback. You know that they have rated right, and
so they're not getting that guy. Gave a lot to
not get that guy, and so they've identified some other quarterback,
(28:00):
if that is indeed what they're doing. Yet the Jets
still get a shot first and and and there's nothing
that says they couldn't work out of trade with the
Jets to get up the number two. But without they've
already given up. Something tells me unless they orchestrated maybe
a trade with the with the Jets with Jimmy Garoppolo
to get him there, which you think that the Jets
(28:22):
are moving on from Donald, but that's a whole another story.
But still none of this leads me to think that
you know, unless they know for sure who's gonna be
there three, they're gonna get the guy that they're looking for.
That that's the risky thing to all this. So I'm
not sure if it's so much maybe a playmaker that
they've moved up to get into the spot, which seems absurd,
(28:44):
but maybe it's something that they're willing to do they
love someone so much in this draft. I'm not sure
if it's just not to move up to potentially then again,
if someone's not there with it, they wanted three to
move back. Like this whole thing could be orchestrated and
done so far in advance of the draft so that
they know exactly when that pick comes. If Donald's you know,
(29:07):
not traded, and if the Jets go with Sam Donald
and they go with another player there, or they trade
out and someone else trades up, or they stay put
and take Pene Sewel for example, left tackle, if they
if they do something like that, they might stay. Well. Good,
Now we're gonna take the quarterback that we're looking at,
whether it's Zach Wilson at a B y U adjust
the fields that of Ohio State, maybe Mac Jones, you
(29:30):
know from Alabama. You know, it's hard. I think there's
so many different opinions amongst the next quarterback in this
year's draft class, it's hard to get a sense for
what they're looking at. But I don't know that they
did anything other than put themselves in a position to
when the draft comes, sees on the opportunity of taking
potentially the quarterback they want and if not, the best
(29:52):
player available that they've either identified, or an opportunity to
trade back out of that if someone else is targeting
a quarterba back in this draft class. This is what
I'll say to you is I don't think it works
where you've got five quarterbacks who are probably gonna go
in the first round of this draft class. I don't
think that they're sitting there saying to themselves, hey, we're
(30:13):
willing to settle for the third, fourth, or fifth. Totally agree.
I think they're making this move because they know there's
gonna be a guy there at three that they're going
to draft that's gonna be playing QB. Agree, because you
give up that amount and you don't even have a
discussion with the Jets reportedly to trade into the number
two spot either they got some sort of an indication
(30:36):
as to who the Jets are going to take from
Robert Sala who came from San Francisco or somehow, they
are absolutely positive that the guy that they are targeting
is going to be there at three like that it
has to be, And so people just assume that, because
they gave up all that they gave up, it's got
to be a quarterback. So if we're to believe that
(30:57):
Zack Wilson, I guess there's a couple of ways to
go about this. The Jets. Maybe they're not taking Zach Wilson.
I don't know. Every you look at the betting odds,
everything says Zach Wilson is going to be there. So
where to believe that that Zach Wilson is going to
be off the board? We know Trevor Lawrence is off
the board. Who if if you had to guess, who's
the quarterback that you think they fell in love with.
(31:19):
If it is a quarterback that you think they fell
in love with so much so that they were assured
he's going to be there and they made the move
to go ahead and trade up to get him, there's
there's well, there's two guys that I think that you know,
people aren't necessarily talking about that spot. And that's Mac
Jones out of Alabama and Trey Lance out of North
(31:39):
Dakota State. So I think it's going to be a
surprise maybe either of one of those guys, only because
I think you can see the natural raw ability of
what Trey Lance brings. Um. You know, his size, his athleticism,
his arm strength. You know, he's got good fundamentals already
for the most part, not a lot of experience, and
(32:00):
sometimes there's some inconsistent accuracies, but there's a lot to
work with. And then you've got Mac Jones, who I think,
next to Trevor Lawrence, maybe the second most ready to
play at the NFL level. I know everyone's you know,
getting up on the hype train with Zach Wilson, and
he's got a lot of good tools and ability to
but people are really like limiting what Mac Jones I
(32:21):
think did this year, and they're using the excuse of, well,
look who he's throwing too. And the only thing I'd say,
you know, in in in you know a rebuttal to
that is if you want to hype up Zach Wilson,
that's fine. He makes some ridiculous throws, he's got good athleticism.
I get all that, But his best years were versus
a bunch of group of five talent teams. It wasn't
(32:44):
a very tough schedule. And so when if you're gonna
sit there and say, well, who mac Jones was throwing
two is better than any of everyone else they went
up against. I then say to you, well, someone who
was Zach Wilson was throwing too. Like everyone he was
throwing too, even his offensive line. Everyone they were playing
was better than who they were going up against. So
it's it's it's kind of an apples to apples comparison
(33:05):
that regard because of the week's schedule that b while
you played in Zack Wilson's best year. So um, I
just I think when you look at what mac Jones
is as a quarterback, he checks off all the boxes.
The only thing that you're looking on saying yourself is
he's not a dynamic runner, even though I think he
showed his forty yard dash. He's fast enough, and I
(33:28):
think outside he's not going to create a son off
of if things break down, and and do you need
to have that is at a prerequisite for this NFL?
It seems like it is more often than not. But
then you see Tom Brady win a Super Bowl and
you say, yeah, but he's forty two and he's not
running around either. So that's where I wonder if Kyle
Shanahan saying, we feel like the Jets aren't gonna take
(33:49):
him at two. They they're looking at Zack Wilson, they're
looking at Justin Fields. They're not gonna touch Mac Jones.
You know, They're not gonna touch Trey Lance. And so
those are the two players that I like they have
to have a really high opinion on in order to
make this sort of move. It has to be one
of those two guys. Brady Quinn, Jonas knocks here on
Fox Sports Radio. You can hang out with us, is
(34:10):
always on the I Heart Radio app. All right, coming
up next, there's another aspect of this trade. Alright, another
player that could be available, and there are mixed reviews
as to what we are actually seeing. We'll have that
for you next plus live Bet Jesus is gonna be
here to try and make you some money. All of that.
Next Here on fs are He's Brady Quinn, I'm Jonas Knox.
This is Fox Sports Radio. You can hang out with
(34:32):
us as always on the I Heart Radio app. And
we are broadcasting here live from the Farmers Insurance Fox
Sports Radio Studios called one eight eight eight Farmers and
you could save a whole lot of something on auto insurance.
Coming up top of next hour, little over ten minutes
from now here on FS are the NFL is going
to look very very It's gonna look very different, Brady Quinn,
(34:56):
very different the NFL coming up here, uh, ten minutes
from a little over ten minutes from now on Fox
Sports Radio. So we have at the very very different
that's right, big guest, and yeah, and so we will
discuss that here top of next hour. We do have
a good one, Brady Quinn. We've got ourselves a good
one in the Sweet sixteen U c l A and
Alabama for the right to go to the Elite eight
(35:19):
right now. U c l A holding onto a slim lead,
but your Alabama Crimson Tide have clawed back into this game,
uh and are only trailing by a five here with
a little over eleven minutes to go in the game.
So a roll tie, Brady Quinn, roll damn Tide. Yeah,
I mean you're excited about it. Chuck who happens to
being an Auburn alum. Charles Barkley, he's excited about it.
(35:42):
It's kind of been funny to watch some of the
pre game and halftime stuff they're doing with that. But
USA is playing it tough. Man. I'm telling you that
the Bruins are not going away. The Pack twelve representing strong,
uh so far in this year's tournament. Oregon State already
a part of the Elite eight u c l A
right now, the five point lead over Alabama. Uh, they're
(36:03):
on their way. And then and look, they're definitely gonna
get one in between USC and Oregon. Just depends upon
which one will be able to make it in. But
bottom line is this, Uh, this Pack twelve this year,
they've been legit. They've been every bit as much as promised.
So the from the Pack twelve to the Big Ten
we go, not in basketball but in football. And here's
the question I have for you, because you were talking
(36:25):
about the potential scenarios at the top of the draft
for the forty Niners who would be there at three,
and there are there have been the rumblings about Mac Jones. Uh.
There's obviously the Trey Lance interests has been real. Why
not Justin Fields? What? Why is Justin Fields completely out?
Because I've also heard some people say that that just
based on his toughness, what he showed in the National
(36:47):
Championship semifinal game against Clemson, that that really was an
eye opener for a lot of people. You are you
not as high on Justin Fields ending up in San
Francisco with the number three pick as some others are. Well, Look,
if I was to rank the quarterbacks in this year's class,
he would be the second quarterback that I've had ranked.
And and the reason is is because I think there's
you know, when you're looking at your formula for how
(37:08):
you want to grade these guys or look at them
as NFL prospects, which is really what this is about.
Is I'm looking at, you know, what his capabilities are,
what I've seen on film, and what you're projecting him
to be, what he's gonna need to do at the
next level. Justin Fields has all of those prerequisites that
you're looking for as far as you know the football
i Q, the athleticism, the arm strength, the accuracy. Now
(37:32):
he still could use more experience. He was a guy
that I said this during the season. We talked about it,
you know, after the Big Ten championship game versus Northwestern,
after Indiana, which was the other toughest team they faced
this year during the course of Big Ten play, he
didn't look very good. You know. Bottom line is, he
didn't look very good. And I thought he has a
hard time sometimes processing after the snap of the football.
(37:55):
And so if you're gonna sit there and say, Okay,
you know who's film, like, whose tape looks the best
this year, what's probably Mac Jones. I mean, if you
want to pick one, it's probably Zach Wilson, Trevor Lawrence
before justin fields. Now the semifinal game vers Clempson, he
looked phenomenal. That was his best game of his career
as an Ohio State buck eye, and I think that
(38:17):
showed you the ceiling of what he is capable of doing. Now.
The hard thing, the hard part is, you know you
don't see that consistently enough. And I think that's that
that's gonna be. The difficulty is NFL teams, you know,
they love consistent you know, consistency, they love knowing you're
gonna be the same guy day and day out. Personality, performance,
(38:40):
all of that, and I think that so so the
upside is gonna be enticing, but the inconsistency at times,
I think that's what's gonna be a concern for some
NFL teams. But I've got him the second rated quarterback
as far as how I see this quarterback draft class,
and it's it does seem like Pete teams have been
quiet about him, and I do find that a little
(39:01):
bit interesting, only because usual, and that's the case, someone
that there's something going on, or someone's not sent as
much because they don't want to show their hand, they
don't want to show that they're potentially looking at this guy. God,
I can't wait for your top ten mock draft when
we do our top and bottom ten mock drafts. I
can't wait to see what direction you go. The crazy
thing is we've already got trades. Like when whenever we
(39:22):
do it usually you know you and I like that phone.
We put them maybe a trade or two, and we've
already got some action. Man, we got two trades already
the top ten that just occurred this past week. It's amazing,
it's amazing, absolutely amazing. Oh my gosh, get that unbelievable,
Like you. I mean you're talking about the top ten.
(39:43):
I mean the top of the Top live bet Jesus.
Just jumping into the program here and now. The lights
are completely out in the studio, and it's got nothing
to do with the fact that we have technical difficulties.
To start the show. A piece of paper is falling
down onto the desk. I'm just listen, Brady. I want
you to know we're on the up and up here.
I'm not playing any shenanigans, but a piece of paper
is falling down onto the desk here at Fox Sports Radio.
(40:15):
It is tonight, on the twenty eighth of March twenty
one that I I bet Jesus proclaimed the picked to
be Alabama minus one and a half. How about that, Brady?
So you knew we were due for a good one, right,
Brady Quinn? I mean it had to happen at some point.
(40:36):
There's been some blowouts, there's been some routes. We jinx
U c L a earlier. We'll get into that here
coming up in just a couple of moments from now.
But that guy right over there is Brady Quinn. I'm
Jonas Knox. This is Fox Sports Radio. You can hang
out with us on the I Heart Radio app and
on every single one of our Fox Sports radio affiliates.
Wherever you are taking part in the program, we appreciate
(40:57):
you spending some time on a sun Day evening and
all live from the Farmers Insurance Fox Sports Radio studios.
When you switch to Farmers Insurance, you could save a bundle.
All you gotta do is call one eight eight Farmers
and get a quote. Today we are Farmers and Brady
quinn um so earlier in the program, I will take
(41:19):
claim to this. I will take responsibility for this. U
c l A was up on Alabama, I think by
by eleven and a halftime, and I said, have you
noticed that when teams get down big in the tournament,
they're not coming back like they are in the n
B A and uh here we are in Alabama's retaken
the lead, so back and forth. Yeah, that is, that's
(41:43):
good for it's good for the viewership. Though, is because
I mean, you didn't touch on something that I think
it's been kind of common and once once. I mean,
we're not to that point yet in the game. But
typically if if there's been like a seven, eight, nine,
ten point you know lead, you know, teams have not
been able to close that gap, and it's only gotten
worse of the final few minutes. This has not been
that I mean, there's six minutes left in this game,
(42:04):
Alabama's up by one. It's been back and forth the
whole time. This has been one of the more entertaining
games of the entire March Madness so far. It really
has been a great game with some ebbs and flows
and drama, especially around the gate. So, uh, we'll kind
of stay tuned into this one. It's gonna be distracting,
but we've got some other good stuff to talk about.
Why do you think, let me just ask you this,
(42:25):
if you had to put a theory as to why
teams in the n c A tournament aren't able to
come back trailing when we see teams do it in
the NBA all the time, what would you what would
if you had to pick a theorist to why that's happening. Well,
the three point shooting is not quite as good as
it is in the n b A. You know, I
think that's kind of primarily it. You know, they're trying
to trade essentially, you know, fouling sending to the team
(42:47):
to the to the free throw line to shoot free
throws in exchange for you know, getting three points, and
usually they don't convert that over and over and over
again enough times to be able to you know, keep
it close, because not as going to a shooting team
as most NBA players are NBA teams are that That
would be my initial thought or guests on it. Um.
And by the way, there's been times too where you've
(43:09):
seen teams just kind of hot and cold. Uh you know,
some games that have been on fire and then the
next you know, next game have been completely cold. So um,
you know that that's that's played a factor into two.
I do wonder how much just this year's format of
the tournament has played as a benefit to some teams
or disadvantage to others. It is kind of interesting to
(43:30):
see if that's been you know, part of part of
the issue with some teams excelling or some teams struggling.
Let me throw this theory at you. You tell me
what you think, and if it sucks, all right. And
I know you're shy about this stuff because you always
want to be nice to me on the air, So
just let me have it. If you think this this
theory sucks, I'm just gonna throw this at you, all right.
I think part of the reason why teams don't come
(43:51):
back from big deficits as much in college basketball as
they do the n b A is because of the
two half system. In the NBA, you have a break
four times during a game, or three times during the game,
after the first at halftime and after the third to
where you can kind of recharge, regroup, come up with something.
The game is also longer in college basketball. You go
(44:13):
to the half and then you've got another half, and
I think it's hard for teams that are trailing to
sort of calm down, catch their breath and regroup. That
coinciding with the fact that the shooting is not as
good and the players just aren't as good, and these
games are eight minutes less than they are a normal
NBA game, I think that's why you don't see as
many comebacks in college basketball as you do in the NBA.
(44:35):
How about that one? How about that? Yeah, I mean,
I'm not sure if there's any validity to that would
be interesting study to do. You steal that if you want.
I mean, you could steal it if you want. I
don't mind. No, No, I'm definitely not gonna steal it.
I'm definitely not gonna steal your material because I don't
know how well thought out any of it. Ever. It
is that being said most because you know, this particular
(45:00):
year that has not been the case. But I do
feel like in other years we've seen some comebacks and
some kind of epic or thrilling games. So maybe maybe
it's actually helped them be able to call time out,
kind of get into a rhythm to flow and actually
be able to come back because they don't have that break,
you know. But my goodness, uh, there's just a nice
value to a U c l A player. I'm not
(45:21):
sure who that was, but yeah, this has been a
fantastic game. I really do wish we can almost you know,
get everyone to view it. But nonetheless, we keep trying
to get to talk to what we try to plan
on the show talking about, and we still haven't gotten
to it yet. Can I give you a little piece
of advice, broadcaster's advice, somebody who's been in radio a
long time. If you don't trust me, I know where
(45:42):
you're going with this one. Here's some other advice. Try
connecting a little earlier that don't help you. Thank you,
very because that's my fault. Yeah, definitely, that is. That
is a hunder percent my fault that that we had
technical difficulties there. And I'm here, I'm not here to
point fingers or place blame. I'll just say that whoever
was responsible for their name rhymes with hobo. All right,
(46:02):
That's all I'm gonna say. And and again I'm not
here to point fingers or place blame. I'm just saying
that's how it goes. But the hold on, I mean,
especially how pick a card any car and come on, man, like,
what are we talking about here? Okay, that is not
I'm okay. Here's what I'll tell you. Next time you
(46:23):
find yourself not knowing the name of a player when
you're when you're trying to rattle off what is happening
in a game on the radio, just make up a
former player and interject them into said situation. So next
time U c l A does something, to say, man,
that was a great pass by Taias Edney, just like
roll with it, like whoever you can think of U
c l A Players from the past, man ed O'Bannon,
(46:44):
what an alley oop? All right? Just roll with it.
And then that's how you see whether or not people
are actually listening. But again, we need to get back
to what we teased here on Fox Sports Radio. I'm
more of a tease guy. I want to pay off
the tease, Brady Quinn. I know you like to kind of,
you know, swerve in and out of traffic. That's not me.
I like to use my blinkers and I'd like to
have respect for the other drivers. Seventeen game NFL schedule,
(47:05):
it appears it's going to happen. After all this pushback
and all this discussion and all this conversation, Reportedly the
seventeen game NFL schedule is going to happen, and it
should be announced this upcoming week that according to several
reports that are out there. So here we go, Brady Quinn.
We love the NFL. Not only do we get an
(47:26):
extra playoff team in, but apparently we're gonna get an
extra game on everybody's schedule all the way through. Uh
and obviously this has an effect in a number of ways. Okay, um,
you know it's more of a toll on players bodies,
and don't and spare me the whole well to get
one less preseason game because now it's gonna be three
preseason games and seventeen, so it's still equates to a
(47:47):
total of twenty. The starters aren't really playing in the
preseason anyway, so this is more of a toll on
their body. I think it's gonna make it even harder
for some teams to be able to survive, you know,
through the course of the regular season, whether it's what
they're starting quarterback or just really exposing if they don't
have much depth, you know, And and they gotta get lucky,
they gotta be able to hopefully stay healthy and be
able to make it through. So all those things are
(48:09):
kind of you know, on the forefront to me. And
I know this is something that like I feel like
people sometimes don't like talking about, but it's the reality
of what's taking place between the owners and the union.
And what I never get is it it's relatable to everyone.
Like everyone's got for the most part, everyone's got a job,
Like everyone's got a company they work for, a boss
(48:30):
and employer and all that. And I think because NFL
players make hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars, somehow
they get What gets lost in the shuffle is people
don't feel like they can identify them because of how
much they make or they're star athlete and all that,
when in reality, like I I get it, they're pay
grades different, but they're in a very similar position as
(48:52):
you are in regards to look. They're getting paid by someone,
they're working for someone, and the owners are the ones
that continually, I'm in time again, absolutely wipe the floor
with the players Union every time when these negotiations, Like
every single time you're you and your company, your employees
(49:12):
come back up talking your boss about something, or you're
trying to get a raise, you're trying to get a promotion. Uh,
I mean they're giving you the stiff arm like that.
That's essentially what's happened every single time the players have
negotiated with the owners and then players Union or to
excuse me, in the collective bargaining agreement. I mean they
got an extra playoff game, they get an extra regular
(49:34):
season game, and then they literally took that and they
went to the TV networks and they said, here's your inventory.
Here you go that this is all the real estate
you can buy. And now each team is gonna be
making about what three or million dollars per year more
over a ten year period, because that's how long this
deal is. I mean, my gosh, Like, at what point
(49:56):
did the players find a way of carving some stuff back,
Like what they get out of this deal? Oh great, now,
now now they get a condensed off season, virtual off season.
Cool that there's a big git for you. I mean,
there's so many things that I think they could push for,
they could fight for, they could argue for, and at
the end of the day, you know they're they're kind
of helpless, and in part because it's bad leadership. But
(50:19):
the other part is I just don't know that they
want to truly go that long and hard route of
potentially striking upsetting the fan base. And and really the
thing I don't get is their most relatable to the
fan base. Like as much as NFL players make and
as much as that you view them as a star,
(50:39):
you are closer to them as a fan than you
are an owner. You think you're close to an owner
that owns a billion dollar franchise and runs an NFL team,
Like it's no where kles apples to oranges, And so
for whatever reason, they're so scared to do so because
they're concerned of the public perception or the NFL always
does a better job of of pushing out different narratives
(51:02):
to the masses and makes the players look like bad
guys or makes the fans, you know, like turning back
on the players for being greedy. And meanwhile, what have
we seen this offseason? How many teams have asked their
players to take a pay cut? How many teams have
have literally released guys veteran players because they can't afford
to pay them under this year's salary cap. It happens
(51:25):
every offseason. Yet somehow fans feel they're more close to
an owner and only see it from their perspective in
the players Union. Yet every single time, this is just
another example of the owners wiping the floor with the
NFL p A. It's almost like the Dak Prescott contract
negotiations with Dallas to where Dak ended up getting every
(51:45):
single aspect of the deal in his favor. And it's
like this happens every time with with the players Union
and the owners. And first of all, I didn't After all,
I've heard about safety and concussions and see E. T. E.
And all these other things and preseason games and and
you know, getting rid of the you know, trying to
(52:07):
U kickoffs, making it harder to for teams to return
a kickoff at all of this that has been done
for player safety, and then a couple of years later
they roll at an extra game like what are we
doing here? And an extra playoff? But that's here's here's
the reality. Here's the reality. If you thought the NFL
p A, if you thought they cared, like what, don't
(52:29):
you think they would push back on it and they'd
be like, hey, isn't this like, weren't we concerned about
CT weren't we concerned about all these things post you know,
for the post career for players, Like, but we want
to have an additional game, Like like, that's what you want?
Don't want to expand the roster or don't we want
to figure out a way of maybe limiting how many
hits these players take? No, none of that. None of that.
(52:50):
I mean, even the overtime rule that they're looking at,
just going back to what it was, because they're like, well,
we really didn't like having a shorter overtime. It really
didn't net us, you know, the the conclusion the games
that we're looking for. It's like, I mean, at what
point does any of it matter? Money matters. That's the
only thing that matters. And the unfortunate reality is every
single time they go to the negotiation table, the NFL
(53:14):
owners are doing a better job of carving out more
money and getting more upside as this revenue continues to
grow up the league than the nflp A can figure
out how to do it. Were you ever a team rep?
Were you an alternate? Alternate? Look, I've never been. I'm
never a pro union guy. Um, you know, we used
to joke about our ten thousand dollar T shirt because
(53:35):
that was our union news. I think when I initially
got there, and you know, usually get a T shirt
out of it, and then they'll get me wrong. There's
post career player benefits that are beneficial. Um, some players
don't even use them, which is sad, or or don't
you know, access them as much as they should be.
You know, there's a there's a match on your four
oh one k up to a certain amount. You know,
they'll do two to one, which is fantastic. So there's
(53:56):
been a lot of ground that's been been made since then.
But I don't know that the players collectively understand their
power and understand the ability they have to press for
some of these issues. And if the owners really care
about players safety and health, they wouldn't add on an
additional game, they wouldn't put them through that, But they
(54:18):
are because it's not important enough, you know, in comparison
to their bank account. So how do you so if
you were advising the players, I mean, you just got
somebody's got to take a hard line stand. But are
our players good enough with their money financially to be
able to actually sit out? Yeah, and that's the problem.
(54:39):
But but what you could do to force the issue,
and this would be something drastic, and it's been floating
around before, but you know, you have to wait until
the league gets back to a really, really healthy point,
and then you just gotta strike when the owners aren't
aren't aware. Like you've got to literally do it, like
across the entire league, get every player on board, and
(55:01):
then literally in the in the middle of the season,
be like, yeah, we're done. We're not gonna play until
you meet our demands. And then then and then you
literally have your message out. You throw out the stats
of the player's safety and wellness, You have all the
social initiatives you want to you know, push forward to
whether it's you know, things off of the field, or
you know, more diversity amongst head coaches, assistant coaches, more
(55:26):
opportunities in that realm for coaches as well, because that's
the thing is the coach is gonna get left in
the wayside because they're in the middle here. But you know,
you start pushing for all these different initiatives, and you
do it when you think the league couldn't be at
a better point. You do it right in the middle
of the season, and then you cause the owners to
panic because the one thing that they've always had at
(55:47):
their disposal is time and money. And so even though
it hurts you as players to be able to do that,
it's hard to do collectively. If you can catch them
off guard, if you can hit them with a haymaker
when are not expecting it and you've still got two
and a half minutes in the round, guess what they
got to figure out how to get out of the round.
(56:07):
And that's the toughest thing to do, is a boxer
and be the toughest thing for them to do in
that scenario. So that's the only way I would see,
like at this point, if they want to press any
of these issues that's the only strategy I see is
this thing working, you know, working moving forward, because because otherwise,
I mean, and at that point, I think the owners
would have a really really hard time, you know, dealing
(56:28):
with the fact that right there they'd be losing out
on all sorts of revenue, as would the players, right,
but at least they've made Let's say you did eight
weeks in the season, You've already made half your game checks,
and so you'd be sitting there waiting on your other
eight you know, your other half. But you know, you'd
be saying to the owners, like, let's figure this out.
You know, if you want this that, let's let's figure
this out right now. We can we can do this
in a week's time. They did it for COVID, did
(56:50):
they did? They not totally agree? Britton Quinn Jonas knocks
here on Fox Sports Radio from the Farmers in Sharonce
Fox Sports Radio Studios. You can check out this show
on the I Heart Radio app. Coming up next, one
team has identified on who their quarterback of the future
will be. But are they telling the truth. We'll get
to that next year on Fox Sports Radio. He's Brady Quinn,
(57:13):
I'm Jonas Knox. This is Fox Sports Radio. You can
hang out with us as always on the I Heart
Radio app. We will be playing another edition of Headline
or Lie coming up here in a little over five
minutes from now on Fox Sports Radio. If you want
to be a part of it eight seven seven nine
on Fox is the phone number eight seven seven six
(57:36):
six three six nine. We are looking for two participants
who want to be a part of the number one
game show anywhere on the radio on a Sunday night,
Headliner Lie Here coming up in a little over five
minutes from now. And Brady, you just have one request
right when anybody wants to call in and play correct.
Uh yeah. I just make make sure you have a
couple couple of beverages where you know, you gotta show
(57:58):
your idea to get them. You know what I'm saying.
You gotta p over one. You gotta make sure that
you crack at least one or too open and just
enjoy a little Headline or Lie with us, having an
adult beverage responsibly hopefully sitting down and you can be
standing up if you want to. Heck. Some guys, you know,
they like to take a knee just like they used
to do back in the old day when the coach
and bring it up, you know, but they like to
(58:18):
have a beer doing that. But however, you like to
have it join us for headline or line up, you know,
and bring that bring that adult beverage along. Yeah, so
again eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox if you
want to be a part of it, headline or lie.
A little over five minutes from now here on fs ARE,
we've also got a developing situation at the n c
A Tournament. Brady Quinn Alabama holding on to a one
(58:40):
point lead over u c l A right now with
under thirty seconds left in the game for the right
to advance to the Elite eighth. We will have all
these specifics on how that game turns out from Steve
to Seger. Come it up here with our bottom of
the hour update here on fs ARE. So a good game,
a lot of blows so far in the Round of sixteen,
(59:02):
but at least we've got a good one here with
our Crimson Tide. These are our Alabama Crimson Tide. Brady
Quinn right basketball. So far about the game, it's been fantastic. Uh.
I don't want to give it away, but someone just
took the lead um and there's still just fourteen seconds left. However,
the officiating has been awful, uh and and it has
(59:22):
been slanted in a way. There was a play towards
the basket and somehow Alabama did not get a foul
call even though the U s A defender I believe
it was Riley was nowhere close to the ball. And
then you come back down on the other end, U
c l A gets a ticky tack foul call that
helped them at least tie the game up. Now, granted
that was a little bit earlier. But the officiating and
(59:44):
this one has been heavily slanted, in my opinion, towards
U c l A. Now sure a lot of Bruins
Vans wanna you know, object to that. It started right
from the get go at the beginning of the game
where they basically took out Alabama's best player in the
first forty one seconds, Herbert Jones, who was the SEC
Player of the year. One foul is legitimate. Dale was
(01:00:04):
a little ticky tack, But right away it seems like
u c l A has been having the favor of
the refs in this one. Well, to come to the
defense of the officials. UM, I can understand why these
mistakes are being made because it's so loud and there
with all the fans and attendance that sometimes it's hard
to think and really focus on your job. So I
think that's part of the problem here for these officiating groups.
I've actually heard that most officials are they feel much
(01:00:27):
better about this wark environment, like officiating has kind of yeah,
like like they're excited about because not have to deal
with the pressure of being in front of home crowds, right, yeah,
because nobody wants to be you know, walking into the
tunnel after you know, said team loses and gets a
thirty two ounces Sam Adams thrown in their face. Yeah,
(01:00:47):
nobody wants to deal with that. So listen, Yeah, this
is this is the perfect environment for a lot of officials.
Brady Quinn. How about the Miami Dolphins. How about them
throwing a little bit of support behind to a tug
of Biloa? How about the commitment to two Uh about
damn time? You know, I mean they won't commit to
them when they're trailing on the road in a game.
But you know what, man, how about that commitment to
to a tug offloa trading out of the number three
(01:01:09):
pick like that, huh too, are finally getting some love
trading out of it, but only then to you know,
trade back up, right. That was the interesting thing of
all of it is, Like again, I don't know if
Miami has done anything other than put themselves in a
position to do two things this year. If the right
players there at six, meaning quarterback, take the potential shot
(01:01:33):
at drafting him. However, I don't know that that's going
to be the case. I think there's a much better
chance that they're going to say we're getting a playmaker.
Maybe it's a number one wide receiver, maybe it's a
tackle whoever happens to be there after this run on quarterbacks.
But I think Miami traded back and then back up
because they wanted to put themselves in the position to
(01:01:55):
be able to take what they feel like is a
a you know, game changing type player. However, with with
what they got in compensation for the trade, they've set
themselves up wards, two is not the guy. After this year,
they'll be able to have the draft capa go get
him in future years because they've got a ton of
picks that they're gonna have at their disposal. Brady Quinn
(01:02:15):
Jonas knocks here on Fox Sports Radio. You can check
out the show on the I Heart Radio app. I
want to let you know we are broadcasting here live
from the Farmers Insurance Fox Sports Radio Studios called one
eight Farmers to switch and you could save a bundle
on your auto insurance. Up next Headliner lie here on
Fox Sports Radio. If you want to be a part
of it. Uh, it is yours next here two participants.
(01:02:37):
Anybody with the balls, if you've got the guts, you
can be a part of headliner. Line next here. But
for all the latest from around the world of sports, specifically,
what is happening in the Sweet six team between u
c l A and Alabama. It's Steve to Singer. U
c l A has the late lead against the two
seed in the East Region, Alabama, because Herbert Jones and
the tide has been fould a couple of times in
(01:02:58):
the final minute, He's made only one of the four
free throws. U c l A has just been fouled
and tacked on a couple more so. Sixty five sixty
two Bruins leading four point two seconds left, Obama after
the time out will inbound down by three in such
a close game. Alabama as a team at the free
throw line is under fifty percent tonight, eleven of twenty
(01:03:21):
three on free throws. U c l as normally top
score Johnny Jus fouled out with a couple of minutes
to go. He had thirteen points. Tonight again, U c
l A now up sixty five sixty two over Alabama
four point two seconds to go. This is a u
c l A team that lost four games in a
row to finish the season, blowing leads in all four.
(01:03:44):
As it turned out, it was to four tournament teams,
and the Pack twelve has done surprisingly well in this tourney.
U c l A could be headed to a regional
final in a couple of nights. The winner of this
game faces top seed in the East, Michigan. Next Michigan
eliminated Florida State seventy six fifty eight. Top seed overall,
Gonzaga will be in the West Region final on Tuesday night,
zas twenty nine and oh after ripping crateon eight three
(01:04:06):
sixty five, Gonzaga will face the winner of the late
game that starts up in about fifteen twenty minutes. U
s C versus Oregon. Indiana's new head coaches Mike Woodson.
Memphis won the n I T title over Mississippi State.
The women's Sweet sixteen started yesterday and victories today for
Stanford and others. Alabama has just hit a three pointer
at the buzzer to tie it. They're going overtime against
(01:04:29):
u C l A. Sixty five, sixty guys. This is
one of the great games of this year's tournament. Sixty
five all end of regulation. Obama, with a twenty six
and six record, is still alive. It's official from the
Lakers Center. Andre Drummond has signed with them. He cleared
(01:04:49):
waivers today. He goes to l A after finally being
bought out by Cleveland on Friday. Lakers have the late
game in the NBA tonight, hosting Orlando. In about a
half hour. US men's soccer failed to qualit five for
this Summer's Olympics, losing on FS one tonight two to
one to Honduras. NASCAR was postponed to tomorrow at four
pm Eastern on Fox TV. Back to you, thanks, Steve Jonas, Knox,
(01:05:11):
Brady Quinn. Here on Fox Sports Radio, you can hang
out with us as always on the I Heart Radio
app as we bring it to you live here from
the Farmers Insurance Fox Sports Radio Studios called one eight
eight Farmers and you could save a whole lot of
something on auto insurance. Coming up here fifteen minutes from
now here on fs ARE We're going to have a
little bit of a pow wow here on the show. Uh.
(01:05:33):
Somebody has got a real problem. They've got an issue,
they've got a social media I don't know if you
call it a fetish uh. And it will be discussed
here on the air. They don't know that we're going
to discuss this, but it will be discussed here on
the air. And that'll happen fifteen minutes from now on
Fox Sports Radio. So you know, got to happen, man.
You know, sometimes interventions are needed in certain situations. So
(01:05:56):
let's do this. Yeah, And and an update on on
this fi old game between Alabama and u c l
A at the n c A Tournament. All right, right now, though,
it is time for something we do every single week here,
It's time for this turn loose in the headline arts
in a lie. Let's go to the news desks. Look,
(01:06:16):
here's Jonas Knox and Brady Quinn and here we go
headline or live Fox Sports Radio. We go around the
country and see who wants to team up with either
Brady Quinn or myself and be a part of the
hottest game show anywhere on sports radio every single Sunday night,
and we will get it started. We will explain the rules.
If you are a new listener to the program, we
will explain these rules here after we meet our participants.
(01:06:39):
And let's first start out in one of Brady Quinn's
old stomping grounds, Kansas City, where Sonny is listening here
on Fox Sports Radio. Sonny, what's happening? What's going on?
Jonas knocks? What's up? Brady Quinn? Happy Sunday Fellas, Happy
March Madness today. I love good energy. Hey, so what
are you drinking there? You've got like a thirty two
(01:06:59):
hour to steal reserve or what's going on there? I
touched the little I p a s. I'm actually in
ro oute. I'm very shafe, only had one, but I'm
in route to a Miller s Miller light, a little
bit of tequila and some Madden oh eight on the
PlayStation two. So I'm gonna rock with Brady Quinnon. Knight
on the mad No WAGTA two, Bro, Yes, that's awesome.
(01:07:20):
So what console is that? Even? Force it like a
PS two or something? Yeah? Absolutely? PS two? Man? PS two?
Did you say that? Sorry? Sorry, I'm distracted right now.
I'm I'm trying to see if all was ele to
pull this thing out? Brady, Brady, Brady, how dare you
not know what current game consoles are out there? I
was full disclosure. I was never into video games like
(01:07:41):
at any point time. My parents didn't really let me
have them. Um, so very different from Bobo's upbringing, who
played a lot of video games. No idea, what's going on?
You throw in my face? So al right, here we go,
Here we go. So, Sonny, who do you want to
team up? We want to team up with Brady Quinner myself, Joe.
(01:08:01):
Let's do it, Bro, me and you we're gonna my man,
all right. So you get Brady in the video game,
you get me in headline or lie here. So that's
how it works. So now let's go to another one.
I mean, this feels like Brady Quinn stopping grounds all
over the place. Another one Seattle where Joe is listening
here on Fox Sports Radio. Joe what's happening, dude? What's up?
(01:08:23):
What do we drinking? Man? Hey? Hey, happy happy Happy
March Madness Sunday. I'm I'm watching the Oregon basketball The
Blazer is about to drop off and the Ducks coming
through dropping off us. See what's happening? I like it
cares about all that. What are you drinking? What's your
elbow bender of choice here on a Sunday? Then I
am about twelve Niccolo ultra deep very good, very good,
(01:08:46):
the one beer that tricks you into thinking you're losing
weight as you drink it. I mean, I don't know
what it is. I always feel like I need to
work out after what I drink. Isn't their advertisements feel
like them? I don't. Oh, it's very bizarre. All right,
So Joe, you're gonna team up with Brady Quinn guys,
and and here's how this works. We are going to
read our headlines to each other's partner, all right, and
(01:09:09):
you guys are gonna tell us whether or not it's
an actual headline or to lie. If we're tied at
the end of this list, we have a tiebreaker question.
So if you guys are ready to go, let's get
as started here on Fox Sports Radio. Good talk, all
right to Joe in Seattle. You were first up, Brady
Quinn's partner here on FSR Joe and Seattle. Headline or Lie.
(01:09:29):
A thirty four year old woman was arrested after she
showed up to her daughter's school wearing a boxing glove
and fought another child. Headline, Yeah that's crazy, were well gone?
That that's aggressive. I mean, look, I got three girls.
I'm not sure I'd let my wife go to their
school and try to fight a child. By the way,
(01:09:51):
I do like how she wore one boxing glove just
in case she had to grapple. You know, she wanted
a freehand to be believe. That's great? All right? Here,
here we go Sunny headline or Lie, Fox sports radio
show host seeing wearing a men's skirt on going rogan
as a new fashion trend. So that's a lie, all right,
(01:10:16):
all very good? It's interesting. Class act? What a class act?
All right? There we go headline or Lie to Joe,
Brady Quinn's partner here. Headliner Lie, a radio producer and personality,
posted a picture of his shoes on Instagram and use
seventeen hashtags. I don't know if Jonas is cheating on
(01:10:40):
this one, I'm gonna say, lie down. I mean, it's
just it's it's I look, I'll put it this way, Joe,
I don't even want to get into it with the
Shenanigans with Jonas. All right, social media, that's that's crap.
That's not I know. I trust you, I'm with you,
because there's no title that says they use seventeen hashtags.
(01:11:01):
He's just making that up. All right. Here we go, Sunny,
I'm you know, I'm sorry. I'm I'm calling how I
see it? Headline or lie Man buys tank on eBay
finds treasure inside. That's a lie. That's a lie. Oh man. Yeah,
(01:11:21):
I believe if the story was correct, he got it
somewhere in the Middle East that it had like some
gold bars or something in it. Final way, you imagine that.
What else is it? His search history at eBay, he's
he's a collector of like all sorts of all sorts
of these type of vehicles, so it was obviously a
dude is loaded with money. By the way. Alright, So
(01:11:42):
here we go, headline or lie. We are tied up
one apiece here next to Joe Brady's partner here on
Fox Sports Radio headline or lie. Designers are betting on
men's skirts as an emerging fashion trend. The headline well
done men skirt and thumb ring. I mean, what do
we do? I'll kiss my ass? Kiss my ass? Was
(01:12:05):
that a direct shot of by the way you can
it's sold by fashion on you one. It's not a skirt,
it's a kilt. Okay? Taken up with my Scottish background?
Oh man, all right, here we go, Sonny A headline
or Live California man rushed to hospital after having excessive
amounts of soda bread? Did you say soda bread? Yes, sir,
(01:12:29):
I said soda bread. Let's go aheadline every week every week. Hey,
what would happen if you had too much soda bread? Uh?
You'd have to roll me down the street to the
hospital like I would. I'm like, I'm like a I'm
like a seagull that eats an alca selzer. I just explode,
(01:12:53):
like it's just it. I don't know. Bread doesn't work
for me, just does not operate well with me. All right,
here we go Joe in CD Brady Quinn's partner holding
onto a one point lead headline or Lie a Fort
Lauderdale couple stormed out of a hotel pool over the
weekend after a cannonball jumped from a nearby child got
their light up shoes wet. Joe is on fire right now.
(01:13:20):
I'm going to damn I hate you. All right, Here
we go, studdy headline or Lie. Video emerges of Johnny
Manziel doing blow and then saying he was blown away
by Zack Wilson's pro day. So that's why, oh man,
(01:13:44):
all right, So here we go headline or Lie. So
if Joe gets this, the game is over correct. If
I'm understated, Yeah, so Joe, if you get this correct,
it is over with and you and Brady Quinn are
the winners here this week on Headliner Lie Joe Headliner Lie.
A health store in Chicago had a message up on
their marquee that read quote try our Ginger Tonic. It's
way better than our new Ginger quarterback. Lie. Sit down.
(01:14:12):
There's nowhere that's Swear to God, that's a true story.
I told you. I'm I'm You've you've talked to I
think Andy Dalton has been bullied for three weeks now,
and I'm on the Andy Dalton train. I'm all on
and I look, I look, I hope all right, here
we go. All right, Sonny, you've got to get this
in order to prolong the game and going over time. Okay,
(01:14:33):
I got you, man, we got it. Let's roll. Here
we go headline or Lie Florida man seen barbecuing iguanas.
Oh that's a. That's a. That's the headline. If I've
ever heard one man for everything, just because I said,
(01:14:55):
all right, that is a brilliant When you hear a
Florida man, calumn usually is tagged along with an arrest
to keep that wow. So well, Joe and Brady are
the winners here on five. I feel like you know
it's the Panthers offensive coordinator Joe Brady just one here
(01:15:16):
on headliner Lie here on Fox Sports Radio. So congratulations
to all involved here. A job well done by Brady Quinn. Sonny,
you're a hell of a sport. Keep drinking, drive safe
and uh after you drink, after you drive, of course,
and enjoy the rest of the evening. So there it is,
Brady Quinn back in the wind column here on headliner Lie.
(01:15:36):
That's the Florida man always gets them. That's a brilliant strategy.
That really is barbecuing iguanas you're about Bobo. Well, it's
funny you should ask. Brady Quinn here from the Farmer's
Insurance Fox Sports Radio Studios because coming up next an intervention,
a show intervention, because somebody has got a major issue
(01:16:00):
and we will uncover it all before your very years
next year on fs ARE you can light me on
fire with no hose. Yeah, these are This is what
do they call it? An air force seventeens. That's the
never of hashtag somebody uses. We will get into that here.
Coming up in just a couple of moments, Jonas Knox,
Brady Quinn here, Fox Sports Radio from the Farmers Insurance
(01:16:23):
Fox Sports Radio Studios called Farmers Today for a quote. Uh,
it is the coffin is closing on the Alabama Crimson tide,
Brady Quinn, It's close the nails now, Yeah, it is,
uh pack of the dirt in u c L a
double digit lead in overtime underfair seconds left. That but
(01:16:44):
by the way, is a game that goes into overtime.
But as you pointed out, it got out of hand
early in the first couple of minutes of overtime and
Alabama Obviously they kind of live and die by the three,
and they did not shoot well in overtime, but it
will end up being a double digit win when it's
all said and done. But like, it's just it's hard
for teams for whatever reason this tournament to be able
to kind of come back or make these things close.
(01:17:06):
I mean, it's good to see the Pac twelve is
good at something though, you know, it's nice about time.
What's saying about time? And I'm not touching that. It
is good to see that there is, you know, especially
for a conference that you know got a late starting football.
They're coming around in basketball, Yeah, they're they're coming around,
all right. So let's let's address the batter at hand.
(01:17:27):
A little show pow wow here. When I remember the
of the show has an issue, right, we like to
take it to the audience, right. We want people to
be able to listen and hear and understand what the
issue is and this issue and this might come as
a surprise. Um based on the teas involves Aaron bobo Ar.
Now he is our technical producer here at Fox Sports Radio,
(01:17:50):
a beloved member of the Fox Sports Radio family. Um,
you know, except for what he tries to fight other
members of Fox Sports Radio. But never mind all that.
We're not talking about a week old news. We're talking
about the fact that this is a man who posted
a picture of his sneakers, brand new sneakers, probably two
pair of sneakers, in the middle of of a financial
crisis around the country. He's bloviating and bragging about a
(01:18:13):
two pair of sneakers financial crisis. What do you mean,
cris But I'm laying it. I'm laying it on thick,
all right. This is this is the overhype. This is
what I do. All right, this is why this is
my presentation. The guy used seventeen hashtags for one picture
of some shoes. All right, I think it's a problem, Brady,
(01:18:36):
you think it's a problem. Bobo. Uh, please address the
courtroom and state your cases to why you had seventeen
hashtags for one picture of a pair of shoes. Yeah,
you will give us an explanation. We will find you
in serious, serious question. And I have another comment when
you're done, Brady, go for it. I mean, there were
a lot of hashtags. Okay, do you think of them
(01:18:59):
or do you like do they automatically come up? How
does that work? They're like trending hashtags. Pretty much, most
sneaker heads use around the same hashtags. If you click them,
you'll see like thousands of thousands. Did you get to
a point where you're like this is enough or are
you like no, I need to get at least um.
I just stopped, like once I do all the ones
that I think pertained to my sneakers or whatever I'm wearing,
(01:19:22):
and that's it. Yeah, Like, that's pretty much it. And
first of all, those shoes weren't two hundred dollars. Got
them on sale four I think fifty five bucks. I
thought you're gonna say free I have. I will say this,
I have gotten a pair of shoes free for my
social media post. Yeah, well listen that. But but here
(01:19:44):
was exactly way is that? Going back to your last comment,
is that because of all the hashtags, like could you
could you increase? Would that help you? Yes? Know, if
what happens is the more people like it, the more
eyes it gets on it, the more hashtags you have,
more chances that more eyes get on it. Why is
this really hashtags of the key? Like you need as
many hashtags you can think of. Yeah, well, let me
(01:20:05):
let me tell you something, bobo. Um. Next time, what
I would recommend, just for your sake, use half as
many hashtags. So is there a quarterback in the NFL
on the move? We will investigate here coming up in
just a couple of moments from now. That guy right
over there is Brady Quinn. I'm Jonas Knox. This is
(01:20:28):
Fox Sports Radio. You can hang out with us as
always on the I Heart Radio app and on all
of our Fox Sports Radio affiliates, hundreds of those all
across the country. We appreciate you hanging out with us
here on a beautiful Sunday evening, and we do it
all live from the Farmers Insurance Fox Sports Radio Studios.
Call one eight Farmers to switch and you could save
(01:20:50):
an average of four hundred seventy dollars on auto insurance.
That's a lot of money for a quick phone call,
don't you think average nationwide annual savings survey data July
to December twenty money. We are and ladies and gentlemen,
this is a man who has already got one win
in the books. Earlier this evening. He won on headline
(01:21:11):
or lie. He is the pride of Dublin, Ohio. He
is a man who you see on Fox Fox Sports
one and you hear him here on Fox Sports grad Dio.
He's none other than the great, the powerful, the wonderful,
My man, Brady Quinn. You know now I understand the
beginning of the show, you know, kurf fluffle or whatever
you wanna call it, um because I've asked you not
(01:21:35):
to do these elaborate intros. I'm not sure why you
think I like them. I do appreciate you putting the effort,
but I now think it's so we just avoid that
topic all together. Is that is that kind of the
brilliance behind the whole situation, avoiding the topic? What by
having text just doing these elaborate intros to to start
off our hour? Well, I just I want people to
(01:21:56):
know who they're listening to listen. If I if I
had your resume, i'd read that off too. I pay
you to read that off. I don't you do. Therefore,
I want to hype you up. I'm your hype man man,
Like who does want to What about a resume of
someone who's dated point stars? All right, that's been a
point of super Bowl winning teams. Very good point. That
(01:22:16):
is very good point. Super Bowl winning teams also been
to another Super Bowl, but apparently Brady Quinn, Uh, this
certain somebody is on his way out, and that would
be Jimmy Garoppolo. Jimmy g a man who was criticized
for going out to dinner with a porn star. I mean,
it's not like they actually filmed an adult movie. He
(01:22:36):
just happened to be out on a dinner date with one,
and therefore criticism their injury prone. All of that. San
Francisco moves up to the three spot in the draft,
and I think everybody assumes that the clock is ticking
on Jimmy Garoppolo's time in San fran I think it's
for a number of reasons to write. When you look
at his contract, they don't owe him much. Now I
(01:22:59):
kind of look at it, think, well, that makes him
more of of you know, for trade conversation. That makes
him more likely because he's very tradeable. He's not overly
expensive as a quarterback, given what he's scheduled to make
this year, I believe about twenty five million. Um. You know,
they can get rid of him after this year if
they'd like to. He doesn't count much against the Caps,
(01:23:20):
so UM, I would look at it more as I
don't think they're gonna cut him. I don't think they
can take that risk they want to do something like that.
I can't see that being in the case. So I
think it's more likely that he's either playing in San Francisco,
maybe with some competition, or he gets traded elsewhere because
of that contract. But I'm not I don't really understand
(01:23:42):
the narrative behind people giving up on this guy. You know,
for example, do you know he's twenty four and eight
as a starter in his career, He's I mean, he's
twenty two and eight. During his time with the San
Francisco forty, he completes about sixty of his passes to touchdowns.
The one interception ratio, which will you know, put you
(01:24:03):
up there amongst the best in the NFL. His quarterback
rating for his career is almost nine. It's almost a hundred.
It's nine point nine. I mean he is when he
is healthy, he has been everything that I think a
team would want in their quarterback. And really his only
season where he is healthy for sixteen games, they want
(01:24:23):
to the NFC. They went to the Super Bowl. Yet
for some reason, we keep getting this thought that, yeah,
we don't. You know, we just don't think and maybe
he can't be healthy enough or he's not capable. He's
very capable. He's capable of being the guy. I'm just
not sure why we have this love affair. We're thinking
that they want to move on from him so fast,
(01:24:43):
and you know that they don't believe that he's their guy.
So I know this could be a crucial year for him,
improven things. But still he's cheap. He's a good player
when he's healthy. And if you're concerned, is you know,
his you know, his ability to stay healthy. That's legitimate,
Like I get that, but don't make it about performance,
because when he's healthy, he's played well. You know, he's
(01:25:06):
every bit of you know what Matt Stafford has been
when he's been healthy, or you know, Kirk Cousins or
any of these other quarterbacks. You when you want to,
you know, compare him to he's been that as a
starting quarterback. You know, it's always something with him, though,
like if it's not the injuries, and look, the health
concern is a real concern when he was brought in,
when when Tom Brady got you know, suspended the four
games for deflate Gate, Jimmy Garoppolo came in and I
(01:25:29):
think what he separated shoulder. I think that was the
injury that time. That's when Jacoby Bursette came in. So
he got injured there. Obviously we know about you know,
the torn up knee, um, you know against the Chiefs
when he was with San Francisco, then the two high
ankle sprain. So yeah, the health and durability, all of
that is totally fair. But it does feel like it's
always something with the guy. There's always some sort of
(01:25:50):
gripe or some complaint and somebody's got an issue. And
he got paid early. I guess maybe there's a little
bit of, you know, the bitterness over the fact that
he got a contractor lee. But yeah, man, when he's healthy,
he plays well. And let's not forget in that Super Bowl,
everybody wants to pinpoint the missed throw down the field
to Emmanuel Sanders, and that is fair, all right. He
(01:26:12):
missed the throw down the field and that would have,
you know, put them ahead late in that game, and
so he missed it. It It was there on the table
for him. Brady was six minutes left in that game.
He was out playing Patrick Mahomes, like, we're just we're
we're we you just forget about the first you know,
uh not of of the book. We just want to
(01:26:33):
focus on the last couple of chapters. He was out
playing Mahomes. So I agree, I don't understand if he's healthy,
how you wouldn't want him as your starting quarterback if
it's not in San France, somewhere else in the league.
And the interesting thing becomes the ripple effect of, you know,
if San Francisco wants to which Look, I'm not trying
to make the case by any means that Kyle Shanahan
(01:26:55):
and John Lynch are are on a hot seat, but
I do wonder if this move move has something to
do with the fact of, you know, what this team
has been and where they are and just you know,
when they took When they took over, it seemed a
little bit dicey early in regards to what this team
was going to be able to be. UM. You know,
(01:27:16):
they were what six and ten with Shanahan's first year.
If I'm not mistaken, I believe it was in two
thousand and seventeen, and they end up being six and
ten UM, and that was where did they get grapple
at the end of that season. It was Halloween. I
remember it was around Halloween they got him. I remember him,
but they didn't want to play him until the very end, right,
And then the following year, you know, they end up
(01:27:38):
going four and twelve, and um, you know. Then then
it was the two thousand nine seed nineteen season where
they get Nick Bosa. They put it all together, they
win the NFC, they go to the Super Bowl, they lose,
but as you said, you know, Grappolin and I played
well that season, by the way, but you know, and
everyone made such a big deal about how I can
I can't recall which playoff game it was, Um, it
(01:27:58):
was probably the Divisional round. But you know that he
didn't have to do much right the first Minnesota. Yeah,
and so everyone and that was where the whole narrative started.
And then you look at how he played in the
Super Bowl and you're like, yeah, he didn't necessarily play.
You know, he missed a throw there at the end,
But what about the defense that supposed to let him there.
They couldn't get off the field, It couldn't get a
stop and let you know, Patrick Mahomes take a ninth
(01:28:20):
step drop out of shotgun and heave the ball downfield
at Tyreek Kill to get the whole thing started the
wasp play. So you know, you go back to, you know,
some of the years before that the forty Niners struggled
and Garoppolo's only healthy year he helps lead them to
a super Bowl. And then last year obviously again you know,
Garoppolo not being able to to really be healthy with
(01:28:40):
the exception of you know what six games it was
five hundred, but I didn't necessarily play bad during that
span of time. It's just you end up getting hurt
and nambient six six and ten teams. So the truth
of the matters. I wonder how much of this has
to do with if there's any impatience whatsoever by Jed
York and they're either just saying, hey, this is our personality.
(01:29:02):
We want to be aggressive when we see players that
we identify as potentially the guy, a quarterback or anywhere else,
we want to go get them. Or I wonder if
they feel a little bit of pressure, if they're looking
into saying, hey, when when Garoppolo basically wasn't healthy, we
haven't been a very good football team, and maybe that's
maybe it's exposes them a little bit, or maybe it's
(01:29:25):
it highlights some other weaknesses they've had. Um, I don't
necessarily know if that's the case. I'm speculating here, but
I am looking at it thinking. I'm not saying it's
out of desperation, but I do wonder if they're starting
to feel some of the pressure of what they need
to be and what they need to be able to accomplish. Well.
I mean look at the division. I mean, like Arizona
is going out and making moves. They got your guy
(01:29:47):
at J. J. Watt. I know he's an inspiration to
you and everybody on social media with with some of
the stuff that he posts. Uh, the Rams go out
and they get you know, Matt Stafford, They're they're going
for it this season. Um. You know Seattle holds onto
Russell well and so maybe they look at this and go,
you know, I mean, do we have the worst quarterback
in the division? I mean is that or do we
have the quarterback with the biggest injury concern in the division?
(01:30:10):
And if so, I I understand all of that, I
would just ask the question this if he's healthy, and
this is a big if, because he's that's been a
problem throughout the course of his career. But if he's healthy,
is mac Jones an upgrade over Jimmy Garoppolo. So you know,
that question is so hard to answer. Like someone asked
(01:30:31):
me to the day about Sam Donald, like, well, would
you rather have Sam Donald or Zach Wilson. Here's the problem.
And I actually think it's funny because you've got some
people who chime in on social media about Zach Wilson's
pro day, and you know a bunch of people after
you know, he makes this throw where you know, he
drops back, he scrambles to his left, then he kind
(01:30:52):
of just turns his body and flips the football down
the field of the wide receivers almost run in the
opposite direction. And I'm just always laughing to myself, thinking
these things, whole things have become such a dog and
pony show and just have gotten ridiculous, right, and and
so then you compare it to some film out there,
Sam Donald, He's doing the exact same throw. The difference
(01:31:16):
is he's doing it in the actual game, Okay, like
he's doing it versus an actual opponent. He's a voting
a defender. He's he's literally shaking off a defensive tackle
running for his life to his left, turning, flipping his
body and throwing down field for a touchdown. Now, Grant
and I think it was, Um is it? What was
(01:31:36):
the fast wide receivers? And Robbie Anderson? I think it
was a robby answer been a couple of years ago
it was Wayne Corbett. I'm gonna go with Wayne Carbett. Yeah,
that might have predated what Sam Donald was born, but um,
the point is is he's doing in an actual game,
and so as cool as it is a sale as
Zach Wilson can make that throw, yeah, he can make
that throw when he's in a T shirt and shorts,
(01:31:58):
not when he actually has to go up against the
defense to do it in a live game scenario. We've
already seen Sam Donald do that, no different than we've
already seen Jimmy Garoppolo win an NFC championship game and
play a team through a thirteen in three season, like
we've seen him in those moments. So I personally hate
the conversation about, well, well, is you an upgrader? He's
(01:32:19):
either how could you know? Like if you think that
you can take a college player and say he's gonna
definitively be an upgrade over guy's already in the NFL.
I think you're kind of an idiot because I don't
know then what you think the year or two years,
three or whatever it's been. I don't know you how
you can't think that there's not value in that then
(01:32:39):
that that guy day one is gonna walk into mini
camp or training camp or into a game and be
more confident and comfortable running a system than a guy
has never done it before as a rookie. Now, could
he be better in the future, Yeah, sure, I mean
given the right you know, situation circumstance around him. Yeah,
but you're not gonna see that right away. You would
(01:33:01):
always give the edge to a veteran. It's why these
teams signed veteran players and veteran quarterbacks, because they get
it right away. They understand how to be a pro.
They understand how to prepare what you're trying to accomplish
in any given offense or system. You know, there's players
in college they're still trying to learn how to do that. So, um,
you know, as far as whether it's Sam Donald or
(01:33:22):
Jimmy Garoppolo, Well, if your intend is to win and
win right now, it would be, you know, keep the
veteran guy you got and then build out around them
because that that gives you the best chance to win
right now. It is funny though, because you ask a scout,
or you ask anybody, hey, what do you put more
value in what a guy does? It is at pro
Day or what a guy does in actual games? And
eleven out of ten guys will tell you actual games,
I mean pro days are scripted all of that stuff. Well,
(01:33:45):
here's an example Sam Donald did in an actual game.
Zach Wilson did it at a Pro Day. But we're
not going to talk about that. No, it's not gonna be.
We're just gonna focus on on on the wow factor
of of Zack Wilson doing it at a Pro Day.
And by the way, pro days jumped the shark when
Johnny Manziel did his and shoulder pads and had to
rap music playing in the background, Well, let's not forget too,
he's been attacked by a broom that also played a
(01:34:07):
role in that one. Yes, I forgot about that kind
of reminded. Did that kind of remind you of like
Karate Kid? It was almost like a like a Mr
Biaggi type thing, you know, like that when they'd be
like washing the car like wax on, wax off. But
then it later actually played a role in how you
defend yourself. Like I was like thinking to myself, is
this is this kind of some Karate Kids type stuff
(01:34:29):
we're doing at a prote right now? By the way,
have you and the wife and kids, have you guys
taken a dive or a look at Cobra Kai? Yes?
And I absolutely love it and think that I almost
hate Danny LaRusso in that, Like I like absolutely can't
stand him, and I like the Karate Kid, but I
hate Danny Larusso's or Ralph Macchio's character in it. I
(01:34:51):
would much rather side with is it? Yeah, I would
much rather. I think he's getting the run into the deal.
This whole thing. I did too. And here's the thing,
let's just be fair about it though, because we watched,
my wife and I watched every single episode. The acting
is atrocious. I mean it's yes, it's so bad that
(01:35:15):
you can't help but watch the next episode because all
of a sudden, the credits start rolling and they do
the countdown on Netflix, and you're like, all right, I
guess We're in for another half hour, and you just
continue on and continue on, and you burn through them.
But what makes Johnny Lawrence great? Every single episode you
notice he's drinking Corps original every single episode. He's got, Yes,
(01:35:36):
the banquet they call yellow jackets. Those are yellow jackets.
That little that little banquet beer. Yeah, it's called a
yellow jacket. It's called banke beer. But I'm gonna go
with the yellow jacket. But again you think I'm making
that up. It's called the yellow j always selling wolf tickets.
All right, let me tell you something. A man who's
(01:35:57):
never said no to booze leader Lap, you need to
get on that during the break. A research that is
the banquet beer from Corps Original called a yellow jacket,
will have the answer for you there. Plus, one coach
said something about his team in the NFL that I
just don't it doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
We will address all of that next year. Brady Quinn
Jonas knocks right here on Fox Sports Radio. All right,
(01:36:23):
he's Brady Quinn, I'm Jonas Knox. This is Fox Sports Radio.
You can hang out with us as always on the
I Heart Radio app. Uh coming up in well later
on in the hour. Here it is another edition of
over Unders here on Fox Sports Radio or Brady Quinn
and I will tell you what is going to happen
in the days ahead in the world of sports and beyond.
(01:36:44):
That will be coming up here later on in the
hour on Fox Sports Radio. We do have a very
important discussion to get to here from the Farmers Insurance
Fox Sports Radio Studios called Farmers today for a quote.
First one, I'll let you know that USC is up
ear Lee on Oregon as they approached the end of
the first half. The Trojans with a lead, looking to
(01:37:06):
do what they're cross town rivals U C. L A
did a short time ago. They took care of Alabama
and overtime they are onto the elite a USC trying
to do the same. Keep it here on Fox Sports
Radio for updates on that game. Throughout the course of
the evening, Brady Quinn, we were talking about the show.
Cobra Kai Johnny Lawrence was always drinking those banquet beers.
(01:37:28):
I have been told that those are referred to as
yellow jackets. I believe I'm the authority on this because
you don't drink right, It's just not what you do
so so lead to Lap is our executive producer, a
man who's never said no to booze leader Lap. Do
we have an update on the yellow Jacket name for
(01:37:49):
the cores Banquet beer and the status of that question
that was asked? The update I do have is a
couple of yellow jacket beers. I have the River Hawk Brewing,
which is a yellow jacket, A beer named the Yellow Jacket,
which is a honey beer. I have the Yellow Jacket
Pale Ale out of Skaggitt River Brewery. You have a
yellow jacket, I p a. But what I do not
see is a yellow jacket, for course. But I do see, though,
(01:38:09):
is a yellow belly, the commonly known yellow belly commemorative.
Did you did you get what I said that to
Google search specifically because it will show up there like
I found it. Did anybody did? I did, in fact do?
Then I found a whole history lesson on on the
cores Banquet beer. Okay, And I saw something on yellow belly.
(01:38:30):
I did not see anything about a yellow jacket. I'm
seen here yellow stone. That's what it is? Full of crap,
all right? You haven't used the squatty full of crap.
It's wolf tickets, folks anything. Jonas says, you gotta be
a little suspect about hold on, hold on a second
yellow Stone season three, they referred to those as yellow jackets.
(01:38:52):
All right, that is what I'm seeing here, And I
have a buddy of mine who refers to him as
yellow jackets, and so I'm gonna trust my buddy Romero.
It doesn't count right now, it's not it's not him.
He's not a big drinker. He's got got other issues
on his hands. But all right, listen, you just call
it what you want. But you know, I'm not going
to be referred to as as Jonas Smilllett anymore on
the show. I tell the truth here. I'm an honest guy,
(01:39:13):
and I don't need this kind of criticism. We'll be
careful about that because when you started bringing up, you know,
smolette or shoes, apparently people on Twitter, I think that's racist.
That was the audio of legal laughter in the break.
All right, so here we go on Fox Sports Radio.
(01:39:37):
We tell no lies here on Fox Sports Radio, Brady
quid Bruce Arians. Did you see Bruce Arians, the defending
Super Bowl champion? Bruce Arians quote, I am going to
beat the bleep out of our guys at camp. All right,
so everybody's coming back from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I
don't think they've lost anybody outside of Antonio Brown. But
(01:39:58):
he is talking about a ruling just a really hard
nosed training camp, which makes me wonder, when's the last
time we've seen one of those. Based on all the
modifications that have had to be done about training camp
and the two days and whatnot as we head into
the season, a couple of things. Well, and Bruce arians
say it sure Tom Brady's gonna let them have anything
(01:40:20):
other than that. I mean, the way he continually motivates them,
that's the first thing I'd say. And then as you
had said, I mean, look, the nfl p as only
recourse at this point in everything that they've gotten pulled
over their eyes is to say, all right, we want
to reduce stop season. And so nowadays, you know, those
tough you know two days he's talking about, they just
(01:40:42):
don't exist. They don't exist anymore. Ye have one practice
a day, you know, You've you've got to have an
off day during the course of any seven day you
know period. You know, all these things are built in
now so these guys are hitting as much and everything
else comes along with it. So the days of the
old tough two days and just trying to get through, No,
that that doesn't exist anymore. So they can talk a
(01:41:05):
lot about it. They could be in pads a lot
and condition them and all that good stuff. It can
sound good as motivation. The reality is it definitely won't
be anywhere close to what Tom Brady first experience when
he got in the league or when Bruce arians first
started coaching in the league. Um, it might be tough
for current standards of the NFL, but it just it
(01:41:25):
sounds all good right now, you know, And that's what Look,
that's what you want to be saying. When you're the
defending champ. The hardest thing isn't necessarily getting there, at
staying there. That's why you have so few teams that
are able to repeat. And that's what they're trying to
do with the same group of guys they've signed back
with the with the exception of Antonian Brown, but he's
still a free agent, so they could sign him back.
But yeah, that that sort of rhetoric is typically what
(01:41:48):
you hear when a team is trying to do it.
Two years in a row and largely has the same
exact team they had last year. When you were playing
high school football, they referred to it as whole week.
Is that what they called it? Getting ready for for
the for this We had three of days back when
I was in high school. So we would go to
a Division three school called Ohio Wesleyan University, and we
(01:42:09):
would go there for a week and have three of
days in the middle of summer, and it would be
as hot as you can imagine, the fields where as
hard as could be because we were probably in a
drought or hadn't had much water. And I'll tell you
this much, man, those days, looking back on them, you
were just dog tired, like you were on a college
campus in high school. And lord knows a lot of us,
(01:42:31):
you know, at that age, especially you're going to your
junior senior year driving and like people drove, like we
could try to go around town, you know, do whatever,
try to get in trouble. The guys were just too
tired to do so, so that stuff never ended up happening.
But yeah, those are those are back in the good
old days. And when three days existing, how does that
even three? So what do you start? What does practice
the first practice is six am, then another one like
(01:42:53):
like we'd probably be starting around like seven thirty, and
so you go for a couple of hours. Then so
about nine thirty we'd be we'd end up, you know,
going back having launch, having meetings, start back up again.
Around twelve thirty, you go for another couple of hours
and we'd have like a night practice. It would be
like probably starting a five thirty, but go ton we scrimmage,
and so sometimes we bring in other teams that were
(01:43:15):
nearby to come by and scrimmage. Um. The last one
wouldn't always be padded, like it might be like a
seven on seven or something like that. But man, they
were long days, I'll say you that much. Yeah, that's uh.
I remember Hell Week was always the most dreaded because
it was a two week stretch. We didn't do three days.
That's insane. But but again that's why, you know, you
guys had a much better team, had much better players.
(01:43:37):
But I just remember it was dreaded by everybody because
the morning practice wasn't bad, but it was the one
later on to where the heat like and then just
the the heat coming off the field the field wasn't great.
You're in full uniform, full pads. Then you got to
do the conditioning drills. You get guys that are throwing
up because you know, they didn't want to get in
shape for the season. They just figured out all just
(01:43:58):
get in shape, you know, the first couple of first
week of a hell week. Uh, and it was just miserable.
And and I remember I was talking to a former
NFL player and he said, so, man, he's on nowadays
you go to an NFL training camp practice, it's like
club men, he goes, It's not even not even in
the same stratosphere as what we had to deal with,
not even close to what we think about this. You know,
(01:44:19):
back when you know, we used to have like kind
of even the two day, one day schedule, like when
I used to be and we used to have like
two padded practices, it was different. I mean that's only
fourteen years ago. But not only did you have actual
padded practices and back to back days and all that
good stuff, but you actually had starters playing preseason games.
Like the whole trend of starters not playing in preseason games.
(01:44:41):
It's started to become kind of more of more the norm. Now.
It wasn't the case back, and then you know you
would at least play in two and a half games
as a starter. You know, probably you're you know, adding
up the time probably full way through, and the rest
of guys weren't plying as much because you're still trying
to get tuned up for the season. So that that's
one of the bigger changes to is you were actually
(01:45:01):
playing a little bit of preseason games to go along
with that grueling camp that you're going through. I remember,
I think it was Michael Strahan his last season when
they won the Super Bowl, they beat the undefeated Patriots.
I think I have this correct. I remember he wasn't
sure whether or not he was going to come back
for his final season. And then coincidentally enough, Brady, right
(01:45:22):
after training camp was over, he decided he was ready
to play. He said, you know what, I think I
want to come back for another year. I mean that
the timing of that, of all of that to be
able to just come back right after training camp and
and there he goes, he wins a super Bowl. Now
he's a Hall of Famer. So good strategy by Michael Strayhead.
All right, Brady Quinn Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio
coming up, we are going to have another edition of
(01:45:44):
over unders here what will happen in the days ahead
in the world of sports. Will have that for a year.
For all the latest though from around the world of sports,
including a busy day in college hoops at the tournament,
it's Steve to say here you bet you four games
to finish up the Sweet sixteen tonight, and a programming
note for Fox TV. NASCAR's Tomorrow is postponed to tomorrow
four pm Eastern after this weekend's rain and flooding at Bristol.
(01:46:06):
The Truck's race will now be on FS one tomorrow
noon Eastern. Right now in college hoops, about a minute
left in the first half, usc leads Oregon thirty nine
to twenty six, Trojan shooting fifty seven percent from the floor,
Oregon just ten of thirty one, shooting just over. The
winner will face number one Gonzaga in the West Regional
final Tuesday night. Zags or twenty nine and oh After
(01:46:28):
ripping Craten eight three sixty five top seed in the
East Region, Michigan advanced over Florida State seventy eight. Michigan
will go against twelve. It was the u c l
A Alabama winner, and that game was decided tonight, not
on this shot, but it was an incredible shot for
Bama final seconds of regulation, trying to tie to rease,
(01:46:49):
He'll take a deep three time to keep it at
the buzzer on Westwood One. That senate to overtime, but
U C. L A dominated the OT and a limit
aided the two seed Crimson tide. Seventy eight Bruins shot
thirty nine percent for the floor but only had eight turnovers. Steve,
if you, if you had money on Alabama or you're
(01:47:10):
an Alabama fan, wouldn't you rather he just missed that
and not have to go through overtime? But a waste,
A waste to what are you referring? Well, I'm just saying,
you know, like I'd rather just miss that than than
have to get blown out and overtime just wasted. Live
bet loser had Alabama minus a point and a half.
I thought, no, no, no, I thought he had about that. Hey,
(01:47:30):
I thought he had him plus ten and a half,
didn't he He's never seen over closed to that. That's
that's a fair point. Absolutely. In other words, you needed
overtime for him to somehow win this wager. Because the
tie game. Of course, you don't win at minus one
and a half. Correct me if I'm wrong. Okay, yes,
very very that's that's correct. But here's the thing. What
(01:47:53):
a tease like if you're gonna if you're gonna lose,
I'd rather like, if I'm an Alabama fan, I'm sitting
there going I did I sit through overtime? Like? Why
did he we make that shot? For what you waste?
Easy to say. What decided the game? Bama on free
throws eleven of twenty five U c l A. Oh
my god. As my opponent once walked a half court
(01:48:15):
and said to me, you better hit your floes. He
said that's in me one time when I was young,
and I still him. I said five. Well, no, we
were probably I don't know. It was like an AU League,
so I would have been like eleven or twelve at
that point. He said, better hit your throws, no froze.
It's like a four of us. And I was just like,
kind of like a challenge accepted. Interesting, I thought, live
(01:48:39):
bet loser, and that's a well earned nickname, by the way.
I thought he was gonna go with. Mexico is playing
a soccer game, a winner take all on FS one.
Right now, winner goes to the Olympics. This if he
was a company man to Sagrey would but he fancies
himself a Mexico fan, like he fancies himself, you know,
King of Crenchaw or some such thing. You know what, Steve,
(01:49:01):
we don't need to I have nothing to do with
live bait. Hey sus okay, live bet hey, sus can
bet on whoever he wants this and listen and if
he let me tell you some if live bet hey
SEUs wants to walk into Tijuana Flats or whatever it's
called and see Brady Quinn's picture. He can see it
there too. He calls the shots here. I mean, I
have no idea where you're talking about now, f y
(01:49:23):
Mexico with back to back goals. They're up to nothing
on Canada. Seventy two minute on FS one. Yeah, and
NBA the late game with the Lakers Orlando's Underway and
Center under a Drummond signed with the Lakers. It is
halftime in the USC game, leading Oregon at the break
back to you, thanks, Steve Jonahs knocks Brady Quinn here
Fox Sports Radio from the Farmers Insurance Fox Sports Radio
(01:49:45):
studios called one eight eight farmers to switch and you
could save a bundle on your auto insurance over unders
or be coming up here in about ten minutes from
now on fs are we're gonna tell you what will
happen in the days ahead in the world of sports
and beyond. But let's address something that is going going
to happen in the days ahead. For one, Brady Quinn,
you have done the impossible. You have given up booze
(01:50:07):
for lent, and that comes to a crashing halt on
Easter Sunday, does it not? It does? That is correct.
I get to reintroduce alcohol back into my, uh my
diet at some point in time. It's been a long
season of lent. But yeah, how much how much weight
(01:50:28):
have you lost? You had to have lost weight? Um,
not really, I mean I really didn't drink that much
to begin with. So thanks for categorizing me as basically alcoholic. Well,
I mean you were. You were a case of night guy.
I don't think that makes you an alcoholic. I mean,
I don't want to think I was even a case
of a month guy. I really didn't. I don't really
don't drink that much. But it was just one of
(01:50:48):
those things where you know, if you want to, like
a nightcap or something, you just trying to trying to
give it up for lent. So what is your first
drink you're gonna have? Because there's a there's a correct
answer here. I just want to know if you know
the correct The correct answer is and and this is
where you, as a married man, should realize, this is
probably large going be dictated by my wife. Right, So,
(01:51:09):
if if we were at a dinner or something together,
or we're having you know, it's probably gonna be wine
because that's what she's gonna want to drink. Now, if
I had my druthers, it's probably gonna be a nice,
ice cold beer, especially on a hot day, I would
say between one of those two. But if if again,
if I end up cracking something open where I'm by
(01:51:29):
myself or have the chance to, it'll be a beer.
If not, it'll probably my wife's choice. That'll be wine.
All right, here's the correct answer. It has to be
an Irish beverage. All right. If you want to go Jamison,
you want to go proper twelve Uh, you want to
do a Guinness, you want to go an Irish car bomb?
Whatever the case may be, it's got to be an
Irish beverage because you didn't celebrate St. Patty's Day. You
(01:51:50):
didn't celebrate it the way that many people expect you
to celebrate, and I celebrate. What was I doing on
Sant Patrick's Day? Uh? You you decided that you didn't.
You thought working with me was more important than your heritage.
And I appreciate it. Yeah, I I appreciate it. I'm
just saying, man, you've got you've got things to make
(01:52:11):
up for, so you can have wine later on in
the night. But if your first beverage isn't something Irish
when you decide to start sipping and ripping on it
started right away, right away. In fact, that's right after
you brush your teeth. Skip the scope and go straight
to Jamison and let's just start rocking and rolling and
(01:52:31):
see what happens. You owe it to You owe it
to your family, all right, You owe it to him. Okay,
I'm convinced that I don't even here anymore. There it
is Brady Quinn Jonas knocks here on Fox Sports Radio
from the Farmers in Sharance, Fox Sports Radio Studios. Coming
up next, it is another edition of Over Unders we
will tell you what will happen in the days ahead
in the world of sports and beyond. There yours next
(01:52:54):
year on fs are this sucks stinks. He's Brady Quinn.
I'm Jonas Knox. This is Fox Sports Radio. You can
listen to. The show is always on the I Heart
Radio app. Coming up top the next hour here on
Fox Sports Radio, about fifteen minutes from now, you're going
to hear one of the greatest scams ever pulled on
(01:53:17):
the air. I'm already calling my shot because it'll be
Chris Plank and Arnie Spanier. Arnie Spanier, who is in Arizona,
alum is going to go on the air and claim
U c l A just because he played pick up
hoops there one time. I promise you that's how he's
gonna do it. I promise you. He's going to claim
that u c l A is his team because he
(01:53:39):
lived nearby u c l A. That'll happen in about
fifteen minutes from now here on Fox Sports Radio. Just
a total scamp. Shoes be any different though than what
the SEC does, which, for example, if it's football, they
cling onto Alabama. You know, once once Alabama is determined
as the best team in the SEC, which it has
(01:53:59):
been for so many years now that this this decade
or since the start of New millennium, everyone else in
the SEC has that dumb chance where they just go
sec s easy. That's always how it happens. And then
if you look at the basketball history in the SEC,
it's Kentucky and everyone else, and usually they're carrying that
banner and rooting for Kentucky, even though really I guess
(01:54:22):
outside of Kentucky probably winning the last national championship for
the SEC, it was what Florida and back to back
years in the early two thousand's. So so why should
it be any different? Why why can't the PAC twelve
do the same thing that you know the SEC, for example,
is always done. Well, I don't know, I just wanted
to bust Arnis balls, that's all, like, I mean, that's
there was really no I mean, it's I mean, it's
(01:54:42):
okay to do. By the way, A Guya writes in
here at Jeremiah and he says those cores banquet beers
up in the Northeast, they call him Bronson's like after
Charles Bronson. I like that because they actually look they
look closer to that than a yellow jacket like and
I know you're trying to be cool, but they look
closer to a bronx in the middle. They do a
(01:55:03):
yellow jacket. All right, whatever you say, pal. By the way,
we are broadcasting here live for the Farmers insurance. Fox
Sports Radio Studios called one eight eight Farmers that you
could save a whole lot of something on auto insurance.
Right now, it is time for this time to put
your money where your mouth is. Your life it's over
(01:55:26):
under and for that we turn it over to our
executive producer, Lead the Laugh to find out how we
did last week and what the hell is going on
this weekly. Last week it was a close one, you guys.
You guys were both correct that the Steep and Francis
and Gunway fight would be under a round and a half.
So congrats on that, both of you guys. What a
fight could call? Jonas's Francis and Ghanu has dump has
(01:55:48):
dump trucks, dump trucks. Yeah yeah, yeah, absolute dump trucks.
Like he he murders you as soon as his his
fist touches your face. Yeah, it's it's him and on
Bones Jones gonna get the fight. They are they next up, Well,
John Bones Jones wants a grip of cash. He wants
a ton of money the UFC. Why shouldn't look. I
(01:56:10):
know you and him bonded at an airport one time. Yeah,
but we were sticking a baggage claimed together. He's a
really good dude. Yeah, But the problem is I think
the UFC has an issue relying on him and investing
as much as they have because I don't know if
you've heard, but he's kind of burned him a couple
of times with I understand, I understand, but but he's great, great.
I want to see it. I'd pay top to off
(01:56:31):
of that. It's a great fight. You probably score it
two and live scored on Twitter. But maybe you know,
if if there was enough of a demand, and I
know you're a big fan of it, maybe I would.
Maybe I don't want to see any part of it. Yeah,
I would not say to waste your time doing that
with me. I'm gonna tag you and everyone that I do.
Please do tagged me on any any other posts on
Twitter tonight where someone is trying to make little nas
(01:56:53):
X's shoes with blood in them that are like Satan's
shoes somehow about race. Like to tag me in that too.
Wrapping up the week, you guys, Happy Easter, everybody. Wrapping
up last week. We had to push you guys, Brady,
you had the over that the Lakers would get a
win without Lebron in a d They did beat the
Calves last night. This is not positive. And Jonas was
(01:57:17):
correct and positive that the Packers would sign a free agent.
It didn't happen to be anyone from another team. It
was their old cornerback, Kevin King. But that did create
a push last week. It does. He was an unrestricted
free agent, So all right, I would have preferred something else.
But that's okay, alright, alright, you guys, you would prefer
something else. I know exactly what that is. Too. Onto
(01:57:42):
this week, you guys. Number of upsets in the Elite
eight and a half. Oh over, hold on, let me
think we're saying based off seating your point spreads? Seating
um not zo got not Baylor, Oregon States, not beating
(01:58:03):
Houston Arkansas might know. I don't think Baylor's losing. I'm
gonna say over under, give me the under, all right,
you guys. Number of preseason games the NFL owners agree
on season two and a half over ba, there we go. Yeah, three,
it's gonna be three. It's gonna be three. Yeah. According
(01:58:23):
to a couple of sources I reached out to on
the matter, they said, oh yeah, reached out and reached under.
How that one? I mean, if you're there, we killed
two birds of one stone. You know what I mean?
You need your shoes tied. Two. Back to the Lakers,
you guys, a number of wins that get this week
they're playing versus the Bucks. Uh, and then at at
(01:58:44):
the Kings and then at the Clippers. So at a
half over? Give me over that stinks, what Jonah says?
And then give me the over? Yeah, alright, alright you guys.
Number of burgers or sandwiches Bobo eats this week? He
ends is a diet on Saturday, one and a half over.
Oh my god, wait wait wait wait eats this week.
(01:59:07):
That is correct, he ends his diet on Saturday. I
have it on good authority that he is a burger
in mind over. But he's gonna eat too in order
to hit it right, correct, he will over m hmm.
I think he does one. I don't know if he
does too. Bobo, I mean, are you craving pretty bad
right now. I haven't had a cooked meal in over
(01:59:30):
a week. I'm scared he's gonna eat meat. That drop
please say that is a drop. Please. Lastly, you guys,
number of beers Brady has before the show next week.
I a half. I'm uncomfortable. I'm gonna take the under.
I'm gonna take the under two because I'm actually off
next week. Damn, I got it at first.
