Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listen sports. Oh, let's go, let's go, Let's go,
let's go. It seems so odd here on Knox Sports
Radio to not have Jonas on the air. But I
don't know, maybe a combination of Birthday week with seeing
that every time I turn it on he's on. My

(00:21):
man needed a break from the hot take, so I
get an opportunity to sit in for the next four hours.
We're here until six eastern. My back is drenched in sweat.
Somebody's got to figure it out five Central. I don't
blame him though, per fat. I don't blame him. I
mean I say it with love because I'm I'm a

(00:43):
Jonas fanboy, but holy smokes, can I be honestly I'm
a whore? Yeah, I am. At Fox Sports Radio. You
could save some for the rest of us. Now, Jonas
getting a much deserve to break, so we've got you
for the next four hours. And to be honest with you,
I mean, Jonas did me one hell of a solid

(01:03):
because from I don't know bo when did we first
exchange our text message? It was about uh what I
five this afternoon, maybe like four o'clock this afternoon Central time? Right, Yeah,
that sounds about right. Yeah, And we already had two
stories that basically were enough to carry four hours now.
Of course, one of those stories involved our team, the
Oklahoma Sooners and in Porter Moser, and the other story

(01:26):
involved the UH filing of charges against one Deshaun Watson
or as one of my coworkers continues to call him,
Dayshawn Watson. Um. But who knew? Who knew that we
had one other right hook that was still to come
from the sports topic gods here on Fox Sports Radio.

(01:48):
So so thank you, Thank you content providers today because
I mean, you couldn't ask in a early April sports setting.
And I don't try to get too carried away and
comparing everything to where we were last year. Oh, think
about where we were last year. Yeah, No, I try

(02:10):
not to think about where we were last year. It's
it's not a fun place to be. But I mean,
I put this list out on Twitter, and again it's
it's it's greedy, It's it's about content and being able
to do a four hours show. But in the span
well just I mean, I don't even know if we
have to go to the full twenty four hours gents,

(02:31):
span of like the last twelve hours, we've had charges
officially filed against the Shawn Watson, and I listen, I'm
not uh an attorney. I don't pretend to have knowledge
on the on the court system like could Clay Travis.

(02:51):
But I do know that I watched a lot of
Law and Order in a previous life, so I feel
like I kind of understand where we're going. I know
what the preponderance of evidence is. I've seen I've seen
all the attorney movies, but I still have a hard
time in understanding this. This is a good thing. This

(03:13):
is a good thing. Like what so well, we'll get
to that. Major League Baseball has taken I don't want
to say an unprecedented move in sports because you go
back to everything to me is just a couple of
years ago, and probably in reality it was like twenty
years ago. But when the NBA pulled the All Star

(03:36):
Game out of Carolina due to their the laws involving
what was it, bathrooms, I think was was the big
the big topic there, and they pulled the All Star
Game out of Charlotte. This isn't unprecedented, but in baseball,
in baseball, at least in my short memory, it seems

(03:57):
pretty unprecedent that an issue that is as convoluted as
anything that I've seen people fight about over Twitter in
the political world, this page document or I guess you
could say voters rights challenge. This out there again, Like
I said, I've tried to go through it and I

(04:19):
read two pages and I fell asleep. So I'm not
going to pretend to look at this from the legal
side again. Second story looking at it not from the
legal or the law side of things, but just an
incredible gut punch for the state of Georgia and more
specifically the city of Atlanta. We'll get to that. You
had Geno r. E Emma and the Yukon women's basketball

(04:40):
team get beat by Arizona. Now listen, I love Jason
Smith to death. I say it many times that he's
probably the one person on Fox Sports Radio that I
listened to the most, disagree with the most. But then
go back to that compliment sandwich, I listened to him
the most. I don't. I don't think this is the

(05:01):
crumbling of the Yukon era for a team that lost
two games and got beat in the hold on checks
Notes Final four, but it is quite fascinating whenever you
have an Arizona team who has hell bent on not
being included in the in the actual Final four prep video,
which again to me, is a product of of being

(05:22):
in the quote unquote bubble slash controlled environment, Because what
the hell else are you doing outside of watching the
stupid videos that that they put out from march Man?
Is that right? What else are you doing? You're sitting
in a hotel. But you had a major upset and
women's college basketball, so we'll get to that. Yukon knocks
off are knocked off by Arizona by ten, ending their

(05:43):
eighteen game winning stream in the NBA. If you're not
kind of knee deep in the back and forth between
suddenly relevant again Michael Rappaport, who I thought it was
a member of the whackpack on the Howard Stern Show.
I thought it was like Eric the actor Beetle Juice,
and then Michael Rappaport. I was shocked to find that
he was still still relevant. Beyond that, I was pretty

(06:05):
sure that Portnoy had ended him like a year ago. Regardless,
if you're not knee deep in the Katie the Rappaport
saga or this this never ending off the court drama
that seems to be plaguing the NBA. You got to
watch the next big thing, right Whenever Golden State came
together a couple of years ago, they were the unstoppable

(06:26):
machine no one was ever gonna be The Splash Brothers
were unstoppable, not granted, injuries kind of hurt it. And
then Kevin Durant went back to build another super team.
But Golden State lost by fifty three tonight fifty three.
Think about that for a minute. If favorite team, maybe
it's had a game where you get beat by double

(06:47):
digits and you feel pretty down. And we'll just make
this specific to the NBA. I'm a I mean I
I cover the Thunder. You know, I live in Oklahoma.
This this show comes to you. Yes we have power,
Yes we have running water. This show comes to you.
Live from beautiful, scenic Oklahoma neath the Western scott and

(07:08):
even the Oklahoma City Thunders who are trying to tank,
I think either that or they're trying to amass the
most draft picks ever in the history of mankind. And
I do mean ever, but I mean even even the
worst teams in the NBA don't get beat by fifty three.

(07:28):
Now you asked f Curry wasn't playing, and suddenly Draymond
Green's popping off about how they don't have there's no
motivation to play, to play in the play in game. Okay,
how dare you be motivated by success? But it is
what it is. They lost by fifty three tonight. Oh
and then then we get the story that we're working

(07:51):
on fans in the stands in Los Angeles. I mean,
I don't know if if, if everything is even opened
up yet in Los Angeles. Accout, I don't know if
you guys can go to bars or even go to
a restaurant, or if you decide to celebrate a church's
service in l A, if you can even go to
a to a church. But we're finalizing plans to have
fans and attendance at Lakers and Clippers games as early

(08:15):
as April fifteen for the Lakers when they take on
the Celtics in April eighteen for the Clippers, because somebody
needs to pay attention to the Timberwolves. Oh yeah, and
then one more story, which this one kind of kind
of shocked me that it came in so low on
my depth chart. The men's final four is tonight. I mean,

(08:38):
here we are. We just laid out six to seven
stories right that you know, on any given day, not
just to say an overnight show, but on any given day,
could fuel a an entire news cycle. I mean I was.
I was listening to Jason and Mike before this, and

(09:01):
as they're rolling through, I'm just thinking to myself, have
they talked about the All Star Game yet? Have we?
That's how much is going on, right. It's great because
even in the span of a four hour show, you wonder,
can we get to all of this? And oh, by
the way, the event that might be the most anticipated

(09:21):
event in all of college basketball has become almost a
backburner conversation. Of course in college towns like Waco. I
can't say Houston is a college town, but Spokane, Washington
on the u c l A camp is, they're pretty
fired up about it. By the way, kudos to Bruins
fans for going West Virginia on us last week. That

(09:43):
was awesome, burning couches, getting all fired up. You got
the final four. So we'll dive deep in these topics tonight.
I mean, we'll we'll go all in. Is always the
best way to get in touch with the show. Is
on Twitter on at Plank Show. That's just like the
piece of wood, Plank Plank Show. Everybody should follow us
at Fox Sports. But what happened? What I do? Then?

(10:08):
What I do? Did I break something? No? I got
in your ear about something and then I was like,
bo immediately correct me, So don't worry about it. Okay, noise,
It's okay. You gotta remember I'm getting old now perfect.
It's like shiny things back in the day. Uh, you
could yell at me during an entire show and say
what and I just keep rolling. Now anymore, it's like, oh,
shiny things. Well, I mean, as as we've learned, as

(10:31):
I've learned by some of the drops I have of
you in the system, I can count on you to
have some ron Burgundy qualities as well. Oh absolutely. And
if you say it in my ear, you know I'm
going to say it out loud, especially as I mentioned,
since if my attention goes to you, I'm throwing off
on everything. But you get us up on Twitter at
Plank Show. That's at Plank Show at Fox Sports Radio.

(10:52):
And of course you can do the the old fashioned
thing and we take coals on this show. Eight seven
seven ninety nine on Fox eight Evan seven six three
six nine. I wish, I wish that I could be Yeah,
I said, I wish you could be smart enough to
truly understand all of the inner workings of the law

(11:15):
and Georgia when it comes to voting. But I know
this is an incredibly greedy thing to say, but I've
I've never had to wait in line to vote. I
go to vote, and a vote and I'll leave. So
whenever I hear about voter reform and things like that,
I know it's a very selfish thing to say, because

(11:37):
I want to be an open minded person. I want
everyone to have the opportunity to vote. So I'm no
problem with absentee ballots. I'm not coming from it of
the women just shouldn't vote mindset. I mean, that's not it.
I just I'm pretty lucky because maybe it's by geography,

(11:58):
maybe it's by timing. Voting has just never really been
an issue, but I could imagine if it was, how
seeing something like this plan that has been put forward
would be incredibly enraging. So that's where I think I
want to start tonight, and not from the political side

(12:19):
of it, but I I want to obviously not from
the political side of it. I want to talk about
this from the why, you know, I why did Major
League Baseball decide to do this? Why did mob rob
Manfred step up and say all right enough? How was
he able to do it without talking with other Major
League Baseball owners? How was he able to do it

(12:42):
without even going in depth with the management council? And
how was he able to do it without the Major
League Baseball Players Association approval? And beyond the how, the
true in depth nature of the why, because I'm telling
you right now, they're our lack laws. In just about

(13:02):
every single state that's held a major sporting event, there's
laws that if you dig into it, you're like, what,
But what was it specifically about this that finally made
Major League Baseball say enough? Was it a true concern
over voting rights? Or was it what could have happened

(13:23):
as you got closer to the actual game itself. So,
as you can tell, we've got a busy night. So
when we come back, that's where I want to start
All Star Games out of Atlanta. If you're in the
Atlanta area, I'd love to hear from you. We have
affiliates six D affiliates deep obviously with I Heart Radio
your nationwide anyway, simply search fs are and of course

(13:46):
on Serious Sex seven, Channel Light three hit me up
eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. Is this a
move that you say, bravo? Is this a move where
you say absolutely incredibly well done Major League Baseball? Do
who sit back from the perspective that Astro's manager Dusty
Baker took today and said, Yeah, we were gonna celebrate

(14:06):
Henry Aaron and this was gonna be about his time
in his life. But we're celebrating Henry Aaron Moore by
making the move to pull the game from Atlanta over
this George avoiding law. We'll dive into that as story
number one of eight hundred stories that have fallen in
our laps Tonight, I'm Chris Blank, sitting in for Jonas
and Ox on a busy Friday into a Saturday right

(14:27):
here on Fox Sports Radio. Fox Sports Radio has the
best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of
our shows at Fox Sports Radio dot com and within
the I Heart Radio app search f s R to
listen live. Chris Blank, that's me and for Jonas and
Knox here on Fox Sports Radio thankfully the whole crew
is here tonight join me and saying, I guess I

(14:51):
needed to check to see if Figures was even in
the studio. Kevin Figgers, K fig Ah, good, good evening,
Ka fig How are you man so Chris? How you doing?
I'm good you and I I've carved out. See the
problem when Kevin Figgers and I do a show together
is and and prefect can be attitude. This on the
NFL side of things, but just with with Ka fig

(15:13):
and I, it can very much turn into Raiders radio.
I mean, and we need to have a Raiders radio
conversation because when last we talked, the Raiders actually had
an offensive line, and now we don't know what's going
on with you guys in that regard. I'm really blown
as as a O line is king kind of guy

(15:34):
like I'm blown away by the offseason the Raiders have
had US two. Yeah, us two. That's a good point,
very puzzling. I will say, it's fascinating to me whenever
you think of a guy not listen the trim Brown
thing go. You got good luck in in New England.
It's incredible waste of money by the Raiders. He had
a couple of good games, he couldn't stay on the field.

(15:55):
What's your best ability? Your availability? And Trim Brown wasn't
available and had cheaper options and aren't as good as Trent,
but they can get the job done. The the Rodney
Hudson and gave Jackson wants to meet k Fig just
blow me away. And I'm glad they got a draft
pick for him. But you got a draft pick for him,

(16:15):
Rodney Hudson might have been your best player period. I'm
very perplexed. Yeah. The and from the word is that
I guess he was not happy with the progress or
lack there of of the team. And is I guess
he'd been there for how long? But four years? Five
years he's been with the Rodney Hudson. I think he'd
been there six years. He's been there for a while,
and they had had not had the success. So he
wanted to go somewhere where the pastor was greener and

(16:37):
he had a better chance to be able to win,
at least that's what many people believe. So they were
able to acquiesce and trade him away, and then they
gave Jackson situation if I just feel like he valed
himself more than they did. It's like the old school.
You know, how much are you willing to pay a guard?
And unless he is a Steve Hutchinson Hall of Fame type,
maybe not that much. So I don't know if that
answers your question. And Chris Perfett is running the show tonight. Perfett,

(16:59):
but we'll had to go a little bit more in
depth than our three of the show tonight because I
don't know, I don't know, very confused by it. Definitely
not better for it. I'll say that. You know, it's
funny because I beat I was one of those guys
whenever the Raiders made the Cleil Mack trade who got
it right? And listen, Mac wanted a lot of money,

(17:20):
Raiders weren't gonna pay him. Go get a couple of
draft picks for him. But when those draft picks turn
out to be well, Josh Jacobs has worked out, okay,
but then damon Arnette and it's just I want clear
Mac back. Okay, Listen, Bears, you can have Barnett and Jacobs.
We'll we'll go with al Kenyan Drake and Cleil Mac. Deal.
Let's go. Yeah, I'm gladuated. I k fig I can't

(17:42):
wait to talk. Oh yeah, I'm I'm jazzed up for it.
I was. I was hoping that would get some Raiders
talk at some point tonight. So I'm for it. Here's
what we'll do is we'll go ahead and will not
pencil that in. It's March, March madness. Still, even though
it's April, we'll sharpe in our Raiders conversation to kick
off our number three here on Fox Sports Race so

(18:03):
over in black sharp, let's do it, do it. And
of course, as you heard, Chris Proffett is on the
wheels of steel tonight. Bo Benson are producer Bow and
I let's see. So if we've carved out Bow Raiders
talk in our three, are we gonna do some college
basketball Porter Moser talking our two or what? Yeah? I mean,
sure we can. We can carve out some time for that.

(18:26):
I don't I don't know what to think. And no,
it's it's funny. Like my first reaction was like, why
would you leave? Why would you leave? Loyal and Chiconoa, Oklahoma?
But I got that all day today. I got that
all day today. For those who don't know Bow, at
least he tells me he's an Oklahoma fan, but I
tend to believe that he's a die hard Oklahoma fan.

(18:47):
I live in just outside of Norman, just by the
o U campus. So when when the Porter Moser news
broke today, there was a part of me that thought, Wow,
that's a pretty good get for a guy that's been
to the Sweet sixteen, in the Final four and to
the last three years at Loyal of Chicago. But then
I thought, Loyal of Chicago, you know you you're gonna

(19:10):
you got Sister Jean, You're going to heaven, you've been
there forever. Why not. He's a He's a Chicago guy too,
So it's Chicago, kay, Yeah, I was. I was talking
to someone though, and it's it's like Oklahoma is on
that second tier of like major college basketball programs, because
I mean, they've had a run where they've had you know,
national players of a year, but uh, never really got

(19:32):
over that hump. So it's interesting. But yeah, I don't.
My My initial reaction was just why would you leave
a place like Loyal of Chicago for for Oklahoma? But
I was. I was on a station in Vegas. I
believe it's our affiliate in Vegas, and I was on
with Jonathan von Tobele who I think it's a stud
j abt And that was legitimately Like the second or

(19:55):
third question is like, it's that a better job? Of
course you naturally say yes. Then you stop me like wait,
so bow and I will talk a little. Am I
the only one on the island here? This is a
Big twelve, major job? I mean, Oklahoma has been a
good program. They were in the Final four what five
years ago? I mean was a good Cinderella story. But
I mean, come on, I I will tell you I

(20:17):
I defended the Crimson and cream um. But there's I
can completely I can completely see where people were asking
that question. I feel like the Big Twelve in general
for basketball is in a bit of a shake up too,
because you're you're kind of burying with the Oklahoma the
rival of Texas getting Chris Beard from Texas Tech, which
I don't know if I mean it's a major job,

(20:38):
but given the massive amount of turnover that seems to
happen with all Texas sports, I don't know if you
really want because he had a good thing going at
Texas Tech, and uh, I've got some friends in Lubbock.
I've got some friends in Lubbock, and they sent me
this picture from a restaurant here, sigh, and it's like
a you know, it's a chalkboard. It's chalkboard and kind
of restaurant. They're telling you what's available, and it's got

(20:59):
everything that's available. And then they've got a small little
sign to the side that's has sold out to tell
you what they don't have right underneath beneath it Chris Beard.
So they're very bitter, very bitter, and it kind of
kills their program really like they had a lot of trajectory.
And again, I don't know if it's it's a great

(21:19):
job going to Texas, but as we've seen with a
lot of guys like Shaka Smart, not a lot of
security for you it the people of Texas get very
very they're very impatient. Go ahead, figure, I'm gonna say.
It's just it's a high pressure job, you know. I
mean that that's just that's what comes with And I
think if you're a coach and you're at this level,
you want to challenge yourself and go to the best
job possible. So yes, Loyala Chicago. The last few years

(21:42):
have been great stories. They've made solid runs into the
n C Double A tournament. But now you find yourself
going to a major program where you can get better recruits.
Albeit you're not gonna get North Carolina duke type recruits,
but you'll get better recruits that you're gonna get it
loyal Chicago and have a chance to continue your success.
It's an easy It's an easy decision for me. If
you have someone would have offered me that job and
I was in Lower Chicago head coach, I would have

(22:03):
taken it gone a heartbeat. God and then of course
prefect to your point, I mean, I don't I don't
know if it's Chris Beard's a dream job or what.
But he never gave Tech an opportunity to counter the
offer that was given to him. He I haven't seen
figures yet, but he's gonna make more than the football

(22:23):
coach at Texas, which is vacating. I just feel like
for Texas this applies to football too. When it comes
to Texas. There's been a lot of scub about these
jobs at the University of Texas, and I feel at
some point there is that they are Yes, they are
high pressure jobs. Yes they are very they're very covetous jobs.
They have a lot of prestige if you do well,

(22:44):
But how many bodies have to be kind of left?
There are all around you of people who have failed
or have decided to go somewhere else to try to
have success before you realize maybe it's not Maybe I
can't have success here. Maybe the situation is just too toxic,
where it's too stressful, or the expectations are too high.
There's no realistic way that I'm going to survive here

(23:07):
for very long. I I say, you show me that
coach and he'll be the first one that I've ever
met that doesn't think he can go win anywhere. I'm
the guy that can turn it around. I think for
any other college out there, I would agree with you
with But I mean, I've just seen too many bodies
with taxas. That's all it is. Well, it's uh, it's over,

(23:29):
It's done. Chris Beards their guy, Porter Moser's the guy
in Oklahoma. Bill's self gets a lifetime contract in Indiana.
Hired Mike Woodson Bravo Indiana. But Joan Howard do you
want No, this isn't Jowan how Ward. You hired? You
hired to do that? Got canned at two NBA stops.
All right. Uh so there's the crew tonight. As you

(23:51):
might tell, we're all fired up and ready to go.
Didn't really get into the All Star Game getting moved.
That's our topic next, you guys checking in on Twitter.
I love at eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox
eight seven seven six three six nine. But here he is.
You heard him, you know him, you love him. He's
got you an update on everything going on in the
world of sports. Here's Kevin Tigers. Yes, the All Star
Games still a few months away, but we're in the

(24:12):
second full day or half the second full day of
Major League Baseball action. On Friday. You at the Dodgers
beating Colorado eleven to six and Trevor Bauer pitching a
no hitter through six innings in his Dodger debut. He
did pick up the victory, jose A. Bray you with
a grand Slam, leading the White Sox over the Angels
twelve to eight. Giants with a six to three victory
over Seattle, Alex Bregman's second home running as many days

(24:34):
as Houston beat Oakland, Baltimore, and Tampa Bay with victories
as well as San Diego. Blake Snell making his debut
for the Padres, got a no decision, struck out eight.
Padres did nach four to two victory over Arizona NBA
Janaka forty seven points, leading Milwaukee over Portland Phoenix, all
over Oklahoma City one one oh three Utah winning their

(24:54):
eighth game in a row. They defeated Chicago, wins for
the Hornets, Grizzlies, and the Lakers, who got thirty point
from Kyle Kuzma, and they blow out victory over Sacramento
Toronto led by as minty as sixty one points. They
have to settle for a fifty three point victory over
the Golden State Warriors one thirty to seventy seven and
Ladies Kyle that shop's top rank Yukon failed to Arizona
and their final four matchup, while Stanford hilld ont to

(25:16):
beat South Carolina and all Pack twelve National Championship game
coming up on Sunday. Back to Chris Plank, Oh, I
like it, that's right, and even think about that Stanford
in Arizona, Stanford's two and oh against him this season.
That will be Sunday at six Eastern. Alright, the cruise
here tonight. I'm Chris Plank sitting in for Jonas knocks
for hot water, then never runs out. Go tankless with

(25:38):
Navy and Navy and Tankless water Heaters provide endless hot
water for spolight comfort. Visit Tankless made Simple dot Com
and save hundreds with local rebates Tankless made Simple dot Com.
I think that's my new favorite sponsor. Alright, so big
story today, Major League Baseball has pulled the All Star
Game out of Atlanta. One of many big stories that

(26:01):
took place, as you just heard from Kevin Figures throughout
the day. This one struck me as a little bit
odd because I I'm not gonna pretend to have read
all ninety eight pages of the new voting laws, or
at least the new rules slash. I guess you could

(26:22):
say laws that are being pushed in the state of Georgia,
because I'm not in Georgia. I'm in Oklahoma. But I
completely can understand if you have a faction of people
that are frustrated with some of the different caveats to this. Now,
depending on I guess what side of the aisle you're on,
you might look at and say they're asking you to

(26:43):
present an I D I have to present an ID
to buy my beer whenever I'm inside. It's no longer
Fulton County Stadium. Right, I'm kidding Atlanta fan, but you
have to show your idea to get beer. You gotta
show your ready to pick up your tickets. Some might
say that how crazy is it to get mad over
being forced to show an ID. Then there's the other

(27:04):
part of it that kind of truly questions the challenges
that this this law bill, I guess I should say,
has for absentee ballots. So there's a lot of different
angles from a political side to look at and either
be outrage that they pull the All Star Game out

(27:26):
of Atlanta because people are trying to over dramatize a
bill that basically is just trying to strengthen the sanctity
of voting, or or on the other side you look
at it is suppression and trying to make it harder
for people to vote. Again, I'm here to talk about
the All Star Game with that in mind. Why make

(27:48):
this move? Is this is this major League Baseball, as
Clay likes to say, going woke? Is this is this
our sports world getting political again? Or is this Rob
Manfred whom judging by our commercial break conversations. I'll say

(28:09):
that Bo Binson and Chris Perfette are not big fans
of You could probably few me in that category. Is
this Rob Manfred trying to cut something off of the past.
Let me explain, because the last thing you want in
a major event is your All Star players not playing. Now,
it happens all the time, right, I think a majority,

(28:31):
I think the thing that most and maybe Baseball is
the best example the example of this on anyone. And
it stinks because when I was growing up, man, there
was nothing I loved more than the All Star Game.
I as a little kid, I love the All Star Game.
I loved everything about it. I loved seeing my Dodger
players getting an opportunity to line up with players from

(28:53):
the Cardinals and the Reds and the Mets. And you know,
you didn't always have like all Star uniforms. Guys would
wear their own uniforms and it was cool. And I
love the All Star Game. I still love the All
Star Game after it ended in a tie. The Major
League Baseball All Star Game is one of those few
sports it seems to be right around the true midpoint

(29:15):
of the season and it's still a celebrated event. Right,
it's it's a big time. But as much as players
want to be All Stars, I don't know how many
players truly want to play in the game anymore. I
think they like the idea of getting whatever contractual kind
of advantage, and I mean that in a a bonus
or whatever they have to make the All Star team.

(29:37):
I think most players would rather have the time off.
But if you're able to say I'm not going to
go to a game because of a political reason, well
that puts baseball in a big time buying So one
reason why Rob Manfred did this is very simple because
players could boycott the All Star Game if it remained

(29:57):
in Georgia, which could be an absolute disaster there for
the sport. That's one thing to have a guy say, oh,
i've got planner for sitis or fasciitis, I can't play.
Oh i've got an elbow strain, I can't go that.
That's one thing. But for and I'll just I mean,
I'll use Mookie as an example, because to me, Mookie's
the he's the he's the guy baseball. I mean, he's

(30:17):
he's your poster child. If Mookie Betts says I'm not
I'm not going to the All Star Game because I
disagree with the George voting law, and I'm I'm making
a stand. Well, if you're your baseball you've got a
big issue. Oh no, Mookie's not coming. Well, then that
that could expand from there. The next thing you know,

(30:38):
Mickey Cabrera is not there, next thing you know, none
of your stars are there. I think the second one
is the major corporate sponsorship too. In the athletic pointing
this out beautifully, you could have an issue where major
corporate sponsors are hesitant to support the game if they
remain in Atlanta. Coca Cola and Delta are both major

(30:58):
Atlanta based companies, partners of the Braves, and they've openly
criticized the law. So I do think that there is
an esthetics reason behind this. And then up a dollars
and centuriason. You're Rob Manfred, you don't want to lose
any more sponsors. But I asked this during the break
and prefet I'll throw to you because I was kind
of shocked that we haven't had a pressor or anything

(31:21):
more than just a statement from Rob Manfred. But maybe
with his history and in pressors and different events like this,
okay to sit this one out right. For okay, to
send your statement out. This is what we're doing. Looks
like we're gonna try to move to Colorado. I'm sure
that'll bring up the antiweed people at some point. But
I mean, good on Rob Manfred to just give his

(31:41):
statement and sit this out right, because it would end
up being a hot mess. If he did, you know,
he would, he would screw it up in some way,
shape or form. Now, this one caveat to the report
from the Athletic really stood out to me. People close
to Manfred acknowledged that he communicated with sponsors, but emphasized

(32:02):
the input he gathered from players above all. Parsing Manfred's
motivations can lead to a debate over how much credit
he actually deserves for the choice. He would never ignore
business impacts in the process, but how heavily they weighed
in comparison to other factors was not unanimous. There's a

(32:25):
part of me that this kind of pisces me off
because I wanted to celebrate the career of Henry Aaron.
I like the ballpark in Atlanta, and I've been to
Atlanta several times and it's it's an incredibly diverse city,
and I just I find it at least in my experiences.

(32:46):
I'm sure someone that might live there regularly might say
hold on, But in my experiences, I mean, there were
people of every of every race, people of every every background.
I mean, it was it was cool. I was walking
around Olympic Park, went to the College Football Hall of Fame.
I mean, it's it's a great city, and uh, have

(33:07):
its state's law on voting rights be a reason why
you're pulling the All Star Game out of it? For me,
it's like, ah, well, that sucks. I wanted to see
Atlanta gets celebrated, But I can understand the concern and
the frustration. Is it a knee jerk reaction? Time will tell.
Is it something now that braves players, major League Baseball owners,

(33:33):
other players applaud? I think we're still kind of in
the what would you say, guys, the releasing of statements process?
Right here? Atlanta didn't seem too happy about it. The
Braves didn't seem too happy, And I think I think
you can hold an event in a state and at
the same time not necessarily agree with a handful of

(33:54):
the laws that they have. Now. Is this a hot
topic right now absolutely. Is this one of those that
really seems to spice up the old social media conversation?
You bet, but I get I guess I don't understand.
It's funny because in every show that I've listened to,
there's been another angle of this to where someone who's

(34:15):
upset kind of like I am. I mean a good
playing in Colorado. The home run Derby's gonna be epic.
It's gonna be unlike anything we've ever seen. Fine, I
don't care. I hate it for Atlanta, but everyone seems
to have a different issue as to why this is
such a bad law in Georgia. It's That's what's funny
to me, is that everyone seems to have something different
that why it's not that big of a deal. It

(34:35):
obviously is very, very divisive. But Atlanta, I'm sorry the stinks.
This is absolutely the worst. But we'll see if it's
something that works for baseball that generates a little bit
more buzz, or if it's something that absolutely completely blows

(34:57):
up in their face. I tend to think it's going
to be the former more than the ladder. So the
All Star Game is out of it land. You guys
are checking in already, we'll hit your tweets. Coming up next.
I'm at Plank Show. That's at Plank Show. Everybody should
be following us at Fox Sports Radio. When we come
back Instant Reaction plus plus we finally have at least
some movement in the Deshaun Watson case. We'll talk about

(35:18):
it next. Chris planket for Jonas Knocks on Fox Sports Radio. Well,
having quite the political conversation during the break here on
Fox Sports Radio. Why because I'm not an overly political person.
I'm the worst. I'm the absolute worst. My wife hates it.
You're not upset by this? No, because I got a
game I want to watch. How dare you not be

(35:40):
in touch with this? To that? I know? I'm sorry,
I'm the worst. Can I can I go back to
watching the Women's Final four? That's is I'm a horrible
person because I care about sports. But with that in mind,
I do understand and appreciate the time whenever the sports
and the political world intersect. And as some buddy who

(36:00):
whenever he was in fourth grade, his claim to fame
was that he could name all the presidents in order
of the United States and their vice presidents. By God,
that makes me a political expert. But no, I I
understand whenever the sports world in politics intersect. Some of
you do not. Uh. Mr nice Guy points out, I
think this is a good point I brought up in
our first segment. It's not unprecedented to have an event

(36:25):
pulled out of a state due to a law or
something that has triggered any type of reaction that is
negative or could have blowback. We had the but I
keep saying the bathroom laws. That's just that's how I
remember it in Charlotte, in North Carolina, when they pulled
the All Star Game, the NBA All Star Game out
of Charlotte. Mr nice Guy points out that at one point,

(36:50):
the NFL had pulled the Super Bowl out of Arizona
because the state didn't recognize Martin Luther King Jr. There
are there are times when you can use your power
for good? Is this one of those? Some of you
think so? My Man lou Riley writes at lou Riley writer,

(37:11):
I think Georgia passed some biased towards republic voting laws
because Georgia cost them control of Congress. Somehow, two rookie
Democrats barely beat two Republicans in a runoff and George's
Republicans lost control and wanted to be sure they never
lost another important election, so they obviously changed some of
the voting laws to make it harder's for dims to

(37:33):
ever win big again. Is that is simple of man
splaining as you guys can do on this law. For me,
what what Lou just brought up? Because, like I said,
I'm very blessed. I I live in a state, and
I've always lived in a state for my time, in
Illinois to Missouri to Oklahoma to where I've I've kind
of been lucky in that the longest I think I've
waited in the line of vote is like five minutes.

(37:55):
But Chris, you were saying, there's and we saw it
this year. You know, hours upon hours of hours people
waiting in line to be able to vote. So is
that what Lou laid out? Is that about as good
of a of an explanation as I could get about
what the whole crux of this is. I think it
fits with patterns we've seen in certain certain other states.

(38:15):
We've seen on the political front. I mean, I I
read up on politics like you, I'm not really political.
I keep getting accused of being one part of your
another when I'm really my parent, my my moli. Political
beliefs are not shared by any party in this country,
but I I have. We we've seen this pattern in

(38:35):
North Carolina in Wisconsin where one party as they lose power,
they kind of change, They try to change some of
the rules to make it harder for them to then
uh well it. They make it easy for them to
regain power and harder to ever lose it again afterwards.
But I think when it comes to baseball too, as
you said, there's been as nice guys said, there's been

(38:57):
some preston we've talked about that the super Bowl almost
being pulled out Arizona got them to change the law
there to have Martin Luther King Day. They that actually
had an impact and they actually pulled a super Bowl
from Arizona. Yeah, they ended up getting one, but they
actually moved Toto l A. Yes, and look at the

(39:18):
it's a capital it's it's a capitalist society. And the
capitalist taste now is that people want to be want
a conscientious, ethical approach to things like their politics and
not being around bad faith politics, and they want they
I mean, and that's I think what MLB is reacting

(39:39):
to a couple of other tweets, Joe right, screw the
woke Major League Baseball. Been a fan since the nineteen fifties.
They can go to hell. Sounds like he's triggered. I
think you guys want to trigger the lives. Now your trigger.
The one sport that you cannot woke is baseball. Seriously,
By the way, I do have a take that coming

(40:00):
up a little bit later on uh LaMarcus right. Glad
to hear you tonight. With MLB moving the All Star Game,
what bothered than the most was you had to show
I D because lots of places require I D. Or
you have to get up and get your own damn
water because lots of states have this law is what
bothered them. Again, I don't know. Evan Brandon writes, I

(40:24):
think the Georgia voting law is not what I heard
today on the Odd Couple they called the law voter suppression.
In reality, some aspects of voting were loosened. I also
know that states like Delaware, New York will still have
more stringent voting rights. We'll talk about it more as
we roll on on a busy Friday night into a
Saturday on Fox Sports Radio. Stick around. Oh, let's go

(40:45):
into our number two. Jonas is out tonight enjoying a
rare weekend off. So I get a chance to fill
in on Pumped Up, not just because I get to
hang with you, but because I get to hang out
with Chris Perfett, Bo Benson, Kevin Figgures and I are
talking Raiders football and exactly one hour from now, So

(41:10):
thanks ranging out with us. I've always I say this
a lot. I'm such a I'm such a sports moron,
maybe in a a in a bad way, and I'm
very picky about what I watch. Now. In fact, that
opening day, so I'm watching baseball all day yesterday, right,
everyone is. And it comes today and you're like, i't

(41:31):
watch Trevor Bauer. But exactly, we have like that great
scene in major leagues. We got a hundred and sixty
more of these rock So I'm just like, okay. And
then you know, baseball is such a fascinating sport because
it is truly a marathon. And you watched the first
couple days, maybe even the first couple of weeks of games,

(41:52):
and you can't really need jerk in baseball, right, and
that and that's the staple of sports talk radio is
needs jerk. I mean, I think some people like to
be smart Elix and oh, Dodgers are done. They lost
their opener. Kerr Shaws finished. We're on like seven years
of saying Kerrshaws finished. But I just I'm I'm I'm

(42:13):
very much odd because I'll see baseball is on in
it's Game two, and I want to watch Bauer Page.
I man watch a little bit of the Cardinals, but
then I'll flip on the NFL network and like a
shiny object, they were replaying a Week eight game between
the Bengals and the Browns, and oh, I remember watching this.
I'm very much um, I'm very much over the moon

(42:36):
for football. So when we get a major football story
like we did today that involves a major off the
field story that we've been talking about for a majority
of this offseason and a couple of different waves than boom,
I'm all in. Yeah, I know. We spent a majority
of our first hour kind kind of getting political, kind
of kind of with the All Star Game being pulled

(42:57):
out of Atlanta, kind of looking at the history of
sports leagues making an impact politically. Martin Luther King Junior
Day was not observed in Arizona, the NFL pulled a
Super Bowl. Guess what started to be observed in the
state of Arizona. Martin Luther King Junior Day should have been. Anyway,
Charlotte had some interesting laws when it came to bathrooms,

(43:20):
and the NBA said, yeah, no, we're not down with that.
We're not putting our All Star Game in your state.
So guess what happened That law changed and Charlotte ended
up I think eventually what hosting an All Star Game now? Atlanta,
the year that we lost the Great Henry Aaron has
a unique slant ninety eight page New Georgia voting law

(43:44):
that Major League Baseball, and I think Joe Biden spoke
out against this a couple of days ago. Major League
Baseball said, you know what, we don't want to risk
players pulling out, sponsors pulling out, you lose the All
Star Game Atlanta. We hate this for Henry Aaron, we
hate this for his well, his legacy and his family.
But we're doing it. And there you go. So I

(44:06):
I feel like that we're all in agreement that this
is gonna This is gonna make for some fun social
media conversations over the next few days. But as we
segue to what became my biggest story, what do you
do of your Houston right now? What do you do

(44:26):
if you're the Houston Texans Because the wave of news
with the Shawn Watson this offseason has been unlike anything
I think we've ever seen. Now, to be clear, quick disclaimer,
star players have asked for trades before. So when I
say unlike we've ever seen, I'm talking more about what's

(44:47):
happened over the last few weeks and how that kind
of intertwines with a dude that once out, Ah, were
you talking about players asked for trades all the time?
They say? So, I just want to make sure I
clarify that before you send your angry tweet to me.
We're all pods it if tonight, y'all all positive? So
with that said, tonight we learned I guess earlier today

(45:09):
that indeed charges I maybe I should back up a
little bit more because I don't want to get in
legal trouble here. The last thing I need to do
is say someone's like white charges are not being filed.
The Houston Police Department will open an investigation into the
Shawn Watson because someone filed charges against him. Now to

(45:33):
give you the backstory here on the charges being filed.
Rusty Harden, who is much smarter and legal issues than
I am, had this to say, and I quote, we
welcome this long overdue development. And then I thought, okay,
I mean, like I said, I've watched a lot of
law and order, never went to law school or anything

(45:54):
like that, but you wanted charges file. He added, Now
we will learn the identity of at least one accuser.
We will fully cooperate with the Houston Police Department. I
gotta be honest with you. When I saw that line,
I thought, oh, that that sounds concerning. We will know
the identity of the person not And again, there's so

(46:15):
many sides to this. There's been false accusations made before
you know you you want in issues like this, I
think they want to be able to put a face
with it, especially when you're talking about twenty one civil
lawsuits out there. It's like DeShawn, which one of your mssus,
our massage therapist is this. But the implication here is

(46:36):
that Watson has agreed to be interviewed by police without
invoking his right against self incrimination. So for the first
time we may get something from the Shawn Watson in
this saga because right now everyone's been left to twist
in the wind, especially Houston, which, by the way, has

(47:00):
had to deal with one of the more amazingly atrocious
offseasons that you can have for an NFL team. Right
your franchise quarterback says he wants out. You hire a
dude who's what sixties seven and has never been a
head coach, where in the process you interviewed and talked

(47:20):
to a dude that was a backup quarterback in the
league last year, and Josh McCowen to be her coach.
And some think that this higher is more about grooming
Josh McCown than it is winning. Now, you don't have
a first round pick because you traded it away to
get Learnmie Tunzil and the Miami Dolphins are turning that
trade into I don't know, one of the biggest draft

(47:40):
halls we've ever seen. And then in the midst of
your star quarterback winning out, he ends up getting caught
up in one of the more lucid and and just
odd situations involving massage therapist. So how do you handle this?
Nick kiss Sarrio earlier this week, he finally commented on

(48:02):
the DeShawn Watson legal situation. We're certainly cognizant aware. We
made a statement at the beginning um about where the
organization stood. I would say the league, it's it's a
legal situation. It's a legal process, So we're certainly respectful
of that. We certainly take them very seriously. Uh, the
allegations UM or what's been discussed or certainly troubling UM

(48:24):
and organizationally, that's not something that that we can condone
that we we condone those types of actions. But again,
we'll let the legal process take care of itself and
however it's gonna unfold, will certainly comply and do we
can to help and facilitate a resolution for everybody. Then meanwhile,
on the other side of it, you know, there is
no one that is more pro pet player we think

(48:45):
than the NFL Players Association and Dmouri Smith was asked
about it this week as well. We monitor these cases.
If it results in an investigation by the league with
respect to the Personal Conduct Policy, will become involved in that.
Other than that, you know, historically I don't comment on
open cases, but we certainly are continuing to monitor it

(49:07):
as it might impact this young man in the personal
conduct policy. M So, where do you go from here?
I mean, according to everything that's out there, he is
open and embracing this investigation. Uh, this is one of
those situations where if I was in class, I'd be
raising my hand in the back of Oh, Mr Harden,

(49:29):
Mr Harden, I understand that you want to understand, I
think who these accusers are. But it's still a criminal
charge against your client, and in that it starts the
clock on any NFL discipline. You know, Bo and I

(49:49):
were talking about this earlier. We went from finding fits
for to Shaun Watson in New York, in Miami, maybe
even went a little bit deeper in thought, maybe Philadelphia.
But what if? What if the Raiders make a move
for him? Now now you have to wonder, is this
dude even gonna play in the league this year? Some

(50:11):
people get triggered by that. I'm not I'm not trying
to say anything that's not out there, but oh yeah, Chicago,
he can play, But Chicagly go here is he is
he gonna be, under the league's policy even eligible to play?
And I know that. Here's my other question that I
have in all of this is his trade request still

(50:33):
out there. And if you're a team like say Philadelphia, who,
by the way, the fact that we're I love Jalen Hurts.
The fact that a story about him changing Jersey numbers
is making as much of a headline as it is
should show you about how great the off season is

(50:53):
going for Philly. Anyway, I digress, But isn't this is
I care about these victims, Okay. I don't want anyone
to have to be subjected to sexual harassment or any
of these other accusations against Deshaun Watson. So Chris Perfett,
you can kind of be my moral high ground here.

(51:15):
Is it bad of me that I'm thinking? And if
I'm Philly, pick up the phone and say, hey, you
guys want this mess off your hands, give you our
first round pick. You've got three next year, right, um,
we'll give you our first round pick. And then that way.
For if you're Houston, you could wash your hands, clean
up any of this, and you can kind of start
a new and it's a it's worth the risk in

(51:38):
a place like Philly. Now Houston might step back and
continue to say no, we're standing behind this, and maybe
maybe they look at it as a situation to where
they could curry favor again with DeShawn Watson by saying, Hey, Darren,
your toughest time, we were right here standing behind you. Now,
we couldn't publicly support you, but behind the scenes, we
were doing everything we can to help you. I know, Chris,

(52:02):
do you maybe sneakily start fielding a few offers and
if you're another team in the NFL, are you still
willing to risk making a move for DeShawn Watson? Is
that is that horrible of me that my mind starts
thinking that way. No, I because I think the unfortunate reality,
uh is, regardless of what happens. We've seen enough in

(52:23):
the NFL to know that, regardless of what happens, unless
unless he's like fully behind bars, Deshaun Watson is going
to play yes, like I'm sorry. It's it's just the
way the NFL's worked. They didn't stop for Jamis Winston's case.
They didn't stop for Ben Roethlisberger's case. They kept going.
They totally kept They just barreled right through it. You're

(52:43):
already seeing people defending you know, Micah Parsons as a
draft pick with all of the disgusting things he's been
accused of that. Nothing, Nothing will stop the NFL in
that regard. However, if you are a team that's going
to invest resources in a DeShawn On Watson, be it
in trade value for draft capital. I think even if

(53:05):
the Texans do pick up the phone and talk to you,
which is still a big if, because last we talked
with the Texans, they still believe they can hold on
to Shaun Watson, and I'm going to hold them at
their word just because until further notice, just because they
seem rather insistent about it. As much as we liked
everyone talking about Watson going places, they seem to be

(53:27):
the irrational actor in the room. Not every actor in
the room is rational, and the Texans seem irrational when
cames to Deshaun Watson. However, let's say they changed their
mind to that. Let's say they come to reason and
they try to fit and they realized Watson before all
this wasn't gonna play for them, and they try to
pick up the phone call someone. Well, the problem is,
if you're a Philadelphia is that volatility is the whole

(53:51):
volatility of We have no clue what's going on with
this situation right now, but the thing, the thing. I
would say, you have a safety net and phil because
I don't think you know, I'm not trying to put
the cart before the horse here. Do we do any
of us think Deshaun Watson is never playing football again?

(54:13):
What do you think, Chris? Do you think he plays again?
I the the odds point to yes. However, I would say,
like when you say safety net in Philadelphia, I don't know.
I don't. I don't. Well, yeah, Jalen, But that's my point.
I I don't. I think. I think if you're the
front office, you're already kind of on pins and needles
when it comes to just how badly everything's been mucked up.

(54:34):
Oh sure, sure, and and not just in the in
the situation with with Deshaun Watson, but in your in
your own house, right, I mean, it's it's been a
mess in Philly. What do you bo Are you will
believer that Deshaun Watson plays again in the NFL? I
I would lean yes, but it really all depends on
what actually happens. Isn't this crazy that we're having this conversation.

(54:56):
What do you think figures? What do you think? I
think a thousand percent? Yeah, still be playing in the NFL.
That's little doubt in my mind, but it's it's crazy
that in both smart sports Guy a lot of people
on Twitter, you have to pause for a moment before
you fire off. You're like, why, of course he's gonna
play what he was. You're like, wait a minute, there's
twenty one accusations out there. And again, I'm not trying

(55:18):
to rumor monger on this, but you hear reports that
it could go upwards of thirty to thirty five to
forty if you start getting those kind of numbers. I
mean that's and by the way, I'm not a professional athlete,
but y'all really need like forty different massage therapists. Did
you see the story earlier this week, I think Pro
Football Tall Cadet where they had all the people who

(55:40):
came out to vouch for him. The massage therapist there
was like twenty one massage therapist says no, I had
a great experience with him. It's like, how many how
many massage therapists have you seen? Right? Like, that's wrong
with you? Talk to any professional athlete, Chris. I know
you've spoken to many, as if I. Most of the
time you find a guy or a girl or two
who you are, your guys that you go to that
you feel comfortable with. They know how to you know

(56:01):
to to work the way that you like them to.
It's very odd for somebody at this point in time
if you look at the accusers that he's had, on
top of the people that have corroborated stories saying that
he's a good guy and he had these aren't issues.
That's already forty massus massus is that he has seen.
That's ridiculous to me. I'd like to ask him, why
did you have to see someoney massage therapists? I raised
eyebrow just based on that. That was a weird defense too,

(56:22):
just because they're treating it like it's a zero sum
that if it's like, okay, well negative over here, we've
got positive over here. Somehow we we even them out.
Everything's gravy. No. I just kind of, as as he said,
it kind of makes it all weirder because we're just
adding to the number of massage therapists that we think,
right and if even if he was inappropriate with even one,
one is too many. You could have had a million

(56:44):
great experiences and one bad one, and that's enough to volume.
The volume in what scares me a little bit too,
because like, Okay, I could understand if you want to
make the case in saying like you know, one person,
maybe two is making it up. But we've got again
how many twenty and you got always I mean, it's
all alleged. To this point, we don't really know the
truth on anything, but we've got twenty plus and climbing,

(57:07):
Like at some point, I think, I think everyone can
make their own judgments on what's going on here. Well,
the thing that gave a lot of people pause is
that all of these were civil issues. That nobody had
any carminal charges against him, And it's like, if if
it was that agreed, is why didn't you take him
to a criminal court? Wise? Everything civil, which leads his
lawyer and him to say, like, oh, this is just
a money grab from a bunch of people. I think

(57:27):
there's good reasons to take it to civil. But I
I'm that that would that would require a much longer
legal conversation about why we're hit in the legal world
the political world. Tonight, let's go. Jonas has never let
me fill in again, but but it's it's necessary, it's
necessary tonight There was a rather lengthy statement that was

(57:47):
released by Tony Buzzby. He um his concerns have been interesting.
I I know we got a break and maybe we'll
continue this. Well, we'll continue next. But Tony Buzzby's platform
had always been concerning to me and and for those
Tony Busby is the attorney for those who are filing
the complaints against Deshaun Watson. I just I was always

(58:10):
kind of looking at him as an Instagram lawyer. But
he brought up an interesting point as to why he's
concerned about bringing some of these issues to the Houston
p D. And we'll dive into it next. I still
have that question, and I think it's a fair one
to ask. Have we started to reach that point if
we question the future in the NFL of Deshaun Watson

(58:32):
And if we haven't yet, what will it take? A
wild story? For sure, We're talking to Shaun Watson next
on Fox Sports Radio. You guys are on fire on Twitter.
I'm loving it. Keep him coming at Plank Show. That's
the best way to stay in touch Tonight at Plank Show.

(58:54):
Uh and everyone should be following us at Fox Sports Radio.
A much deserved night off for Jonas A Knox. My
name is Chris plank City and Chris Perfect running the show,
Bob Benson on the Wheels of Steel. Wait hold on,
Chris is on the Wheels of Steel, Bob Benson on
the phones, and Kevin figures We've got Raiders Stock coming
up an hour three. I'm so excited about it. In

(59:15):
the meantime, I let me get a couple of tweets
I was talking with bo. I was pretty I was
pretty anti Tony Buzzby when this first thing started. Tony
Buzby is the attorney for the accusers. Now, I want
to make this very clear. I wasn't anti Tony Buzzby
because he was filing these charges against Deshaun Watson. I

(59:39):
was anti Buzzby because I thought he was an Instagram lawyer.
I mean, I felt like everything in this case was
being played out on an Instagram story. And usually I mean,
what I've noticed is Instagram stories are kind of related
for like, are are kind of necessary for I don't know,

(59:59):
like like needy people. I want to show you how
pretty they are, not usually for legal issues. But I'll
tell you what. In the statement that he put out
today and in the way that he's handled this, he's
he's sold me. Now, I'm not telling you that everything
against Deshaun Watson is true. But we're not talking about

(01:00:22):
one or two people that are coming out after. We're
talking about, as his statement said today, the twenty second
case they filed, and he added this before I get
to your tweets, sorry, I would remind everyone, Tony Buzzby
said in his statement, I would remind everyone following this
story and what is in play here is more than

(01:00:45):
the future record of a football team or a star quarterback.
I would remind these so called talking heads who do
nothing but talk for a living, that the issues raised
here are extremely serious, involving SERI is a misconduct against women.
Now again, I I last segment, I'm very much guilty

(01:01:07):
of of looking at it from a perspective that would
make Tony Buzzby very angry because I right away thought, oh,
I got a trade for Deshaun Watson. Now again, I
understand the rules. Goodell could put him on the commissioner's
example list and then he's not going anywhere. But Buzzby added,
we are dealing with physical health, mental health, safety and

(01:01:29):
well being of courageous people who had the fortitude to
step forward although powerless against the powerful, and Tony Buzby
claimed what when he had run for office, that he
thought the police were against him. So he's kind of
anti going to the police on anything, which we're dynamic
for an attorney. But here we are. Here we are
criminal charges filed against DeShawn Watson. A couple of quick

(01:01:53):
tweets that we'll get an update. And I understand that
Cowboys corner is right around the corner, So Cowboy hanging
their buddy, immit rights blind Seahawks fans. It's weird how
many massage therapists he had. But I do think he
will play. The NFL, as Christoph Fette said, did not
suspend Big Ben. Also, he could get a suspension of

(01:02:15):
chargers are officials. And I don't think the Eagles are
gonna trade for the Sean. I don't either. I just
threw that out as a hypothetical. I mean, if he's
put on the commissioner's list, then there's no deal. He's
in his current situation and we'll wait and see if
he even plays this season. And if you're Texans, you
started getting Tyrod Taylor to start the year. Um, if

(01:02:35):
he's not suspended, and this kind of plays out where
you know it. It's handled civilly and they don't file
criminal cases. I don't know what you do from there.
If you're the NFL, I guess you conduct your own investigation.
But I mean, I'm again I look at this sometimes
in the very wrong way from the sports side of things,
and I think, what the hell do you do if

(01:02:56):
you're the Texans. I mean, this is as you've tried
to say, even though he wants out your guy, are
you trying to curry favor by standing behind him or no?
Uh PDJ writes today, Watson's attorney is saying they're looking
forward to a Houston p D or d A investigation
so that they can learn the identity of his accusers.

(01:03:18):
So naive and acid, I he knew before the story broke.
Come on, Plank, I guess your Law and Order watching
taught you nothing? Probably, so man, it probably did. Maybe
I should need to go back and watch a couple
of old episodes. Is this a situation where there's just
there's so many times by the numbers that we see
where if Rusty Harden was to go to DeShawn Watson

(01:03:42):
and say Hey, who do you who do you think
this could be? I mean, can you can you come
up with a couple of different names? So, I mean
he did try to bribe a few on Instagram, so
he knows a few. How crazy is it, uh p
G that r P d J. Excuse me that we
might even be in a situation where there are so
many that as Deshaun Watson starts to throw out those

(01:04:05):
Instagram requests for some sort of payment for silence, it's like, oh, oh,
we had a good experience. Okay, my bad, my bad,
I'm sorry. I'll talk to again soon. I mean, how
many mistakes did he make? Obviously quite a few more
tweets rolling and we'll get to him there great tonight.
I do want to try to focus on another quarterback situation,

(01:04:25):
because as we sit here on a Saturday night on
Fox Sports Radio, there is there's a story involving an
NFL team that I think is going crazy X on us.
I'll explain in ninety seconds, But first Kevin Figgers comes
rolling in to make sure we're up to date on everything.
We need to know what's going on. KI alright, Cryst

(01:04:47):
will start in the NBA, the reigning m v P
with a big performance on Friday Night, Yeah It's the
Kompo eighteen of his one field goal of Sampson scored
forty seven points in a one seven to one on
nine Milwaukee victory over Portland' Phoenix has won eight of
their last nine and five straight games. They had to
blow out victory over Oklahoma City as Devin Booker score
thirty two Kyle Kuzma thirty points for the Lakers, who

(01:05:08):
are still without Anthony Davis and Lebron James. They hammered
the Kings and Sacramento twenty six points for Donovan Mitchell
as Utah beat Chicago Toronto with a fifty three point
victory over Golden State Charlotte Dallas in Boston with victories
as well. In Major League Baseball, Buster Posey and Evla
Gooria both with home runs for the Giants as they
defeated Seattle Blake's now with eight strikeouts but got the

(01:05:29):
no decision in his Padre's debut. San Diego did beat
Arizona four to two. Dodgers got three rbi from Justin Turner.
Trevor Bauer picks up his first win as a Dodger
eleven to six, to final score in favor of Los
Angeles over Colorado, Houston beating Oakland nine to five, Tampa
Bay in Baltimore with wins, and the women's final four
Arizona with an upset victory over top seeded Yukon Stanford

(01:05:50):
holding on for a sixty six to sixty five victory
over South Carolina. Back to Chris Plank, I was just
sitting here doing a whole segment with my Mike Me.
Sorry about that. Bow tell Cowboy that I'm gonna get
to the next segment. You guys, I don't know if
you realize this, I'm gonna go old school on you.
I and if I bring this up every time I

(01:06:11):
come on, I'm sorry because I hate people to do this.
But here we go. I used to do the Overnight
show about Gosh, I say, a couple of years ago,
back in two thousand and seven, I hosted the Third
Shift weekend one to five am Central Time every Friday
and Saturday. It was great. It was great. UM had

(01:06:31):
a blast doing it, and Cowboys Corner was a staple.
Now cowboys call him a little earlier than he used
to back in the day. But we'll get to Cowboy
and wins are coming up in our next segment. Gods,
that's a long time ago. After a couple of years ago,
back in two thousand and thirteen, that's like what our
two thousand and seven, that's like thirteen fourteen years ago.

(01:06:53):
I mean, you look at that. I always compare things
in terms of whenever I was a kid, for instance,
whenever I was a youngster. I'm a nineties kid, so
I would think about things in the seventies and it
seems so long ago when I tell, oh, yeah, I
used to do this, like fourteen years ago. If I
looked at in the nineties, that's thinking of something in
the seventies. Anyway. Always, I always think about it when

(01:07:16):
it comes in terms of you know these kids nowadays, Well,
I was born in two thousand and two. I'm like, damn,
I vividly know where I was in two thousand and two.
That's the way I look at it. I can remember things,
You can remember things, which is why it's always a
couple of years ago. It's always a couple of years ago.
By the way, tweeted the night already to Brian right
screw to Shawn Watson. Houston fans are more bummed about

(01:07:37):
losing James Harden, who was dominating and playing like the
m v P of the league in Brooklyn hatchtag fear
of the Beard. You know this week it was in
Big twelve country check on your Texas Tech friends because
of Chris Beard leaving. I feel like k Fig, it's
kind of been a consistent check on your Houston sports
fans that are your friends right big time? I'm add

(01:08:00):
a good stretch. No, not in the least bit. I
saw that Granky the other days say like, well, maybe
people will start cheering for us once we start winning games.
I don't think it works that way. Is that? So
that's not gonna happen. James Harten leaves and the Rockets
hit the tank and now Deshaun Watson they didn't want
to trade beforehand now might not have any trade value
to begin with. So it's it's probably the worst possible
time to be a Houston sports fan right now, to

(01:08:21):
be honest. Yeah, you know what, you know what the
easiest solution to that problem is, what's that bow? Just
don't be friends with Houston sports fans makes sense to me.
For for Granky, I think, uh, I've sa I think
there's a genuine misunderstanding of why people are booing yeah,
big time. Absolutely, come on, man, I got I got
one of my buddies that I used to work with

(01:08:43):
here at o you that's down there. I mean, I
gotta at least like one Houston person, which, by the way,
funny story when the Dodgers, because I I am a
bit of a Dodger honk. When the Dodgers play the
Astros in the World Series, I realized that I had
unfollowed and like blocked all of my Houston friends because
I used to think Cubs fans were real neat I

(01:09:04):
mean Astro fans, Holy smokes. And then of course the
bottom fell out. So I unblocked him and followed them
all back. It's been fun, something tells. And when you
follow them all back there are probably very silent. It's
it's not as loud as it was. Shocking, you know what.
It's really loud though, um the noise out of Chicago.
I'm very confused by this. I'm glad Jason Smith had

(01:09:24):
on this earlier because I've been wanting to talk about this.
I obviously, as I kind of mentioned, I'm in my forties,
so I didn't grow up with the opportunity to go
to Facebook or Twitter or Instagram or Snapchat or whatever
social media platform you use linked in and kind of
show everyone how happy I was after a breakup. Right.

(01:09:47):
I get a kick out of it because I'm at
that age now where friends get divorced and you see
that they're either with a new gal or a new
or a new guy, and every picture is like the
happiest picture that you could ever maagine anyone taking. Suddenly
it went from being in this awful relationship two flowers

(01:10:08):
and roses and motivational little comments about I don't know,
the stars just seem brighter when I look at them
with you, and it's it's ridiculous, right, it's really and
it's and it's really. I'm not making this up. Guys.
Go on Facebook. You'll see it. There'll be some young
woman with some young man and it'll be everything was

(01:10:29):
cloudy until I found you. Meanwhile, the X is like,
what what is this? I kind of feel like that's
what's going on right now. With the Chicago Bears, it's
almost as if they're going out of their way to
tell you that Andy Dalton is better than anything they've had,
or maybe more specifically, Andy Dalton's their guy. I don't

(01:10:52):
get it. Now, let me rewind just a little bit.
I don't have a problem with signing Andy Dalton, I
really don't. He did okay in Dallas. He took the
Bengals to the playoffs. He's not an awful quarterback. I
think what's weird to me is this incessant cramming down

(01:11:13):
our throats that he's QB one. I mean, listen to
listen to Matt n Aggie talk about it during the
Bears Zoom earlier today. We bring a new quarterback into
into play with with Andy as the starter, and Nick
understands that. And so the process that we go about
through this isn't just like a one day process. There's

(01:11:35):
a lot that goes into it. And we feel like
this is the best for us as an organization right now.
And things are always fluid every year, and this is
where we're at right now. We're we're excited about it,
and Nick understands where we're at. Andy understands where we're at.
I mean, and I know Jonas is a Bears guy,
and I know every Bears fan can say, Scoreboard, you

(01:11:58):
traded this mac. You've been in the playoffs, you haven't
fair enough. I'm fine, that's okay. I'd still take Derek
Carr years before I take Andy Dalton. But Andy Dalton
might have a better overall record that Derek Carr. But
I guess my point is, I mean, why do you
think that's suddenly opinions are going to change on Andy

(01:12:21):
Dalton because you put a social media post out that
said QB one. I mean even even Ryan Pace. I mean,
I I would love if you had like a light
detector hooked up to this guy while he was saying this.
We're always looking to add to every position and get
better everywhere, and there's no more important position than quarterback.
And we feel like we've done that, we feel like
we've gotten better than Andy. With Andy, we're excited to

(01:12:43):
add him. He wasn't done. That's how we see Andy
Dalton as a starting quarterback and we're excited to have him.
And again that one into the evaluation process. Has been
a starter in the league for a long time and
and produced at at a high level for a long time.
So again that's all of us collectively in the building,
coaches and scouts them to that conclusion. As we went
through the free agency process, and yeah, he's our starting

(01:13:04):
quarterback as we head into this season. Hmm. Now again,
things could change. He could get hurt, Nick Foles could
look like Super Bowl Nick Foles again, I guess, or
I don't know. One of these. Now suddenly superstar quarterbacks
can fall to you in the draft. But it's just
it's almost as if Chicago and its ownership, well, maybe

(01:13:27):
I should downgrade that a bit. It's general manager and
it's coach. It's almost as if they're going out of
their way to let you know how happy they are
with what they've done with Andy Dalton. I don't get it.
Andy Dalton is a starting quarterback in this league in
the eyes of one team, and that's the Chicago Bears.
But as one great man once told me, it only

(01:13:51):
takes one. It only takes in in any draftable situation
and any contractual situation. You need to find one person,
one team, one entity that believes in you. And my God,
are the Bears selling you that they are happier with
their new boyfriend, They're happier with their new toy, and
they are going to be better with Andy Dalton as

(01:14:13):
their quarterback. I would go out on a limb and
say that most Bears fans wouldn't agree with that. I
would also say that I find it fascinating that Pace
sells it as a year to year thing. Well, you
don't want to get a franchise quarterback, you don't think
you don't think you'd be in a much better spot
if you ended up taking Patrick Mahomes now to Shaun Watson.
That's a conversation for another time, But I mean the

(01:14:37):
quarterback that you drafted ahead of those guys just signed,
like a million dollar free agent deal with the Bears,
and a million dollars for a quarterback in the NFL
is not much. So. I don't know what's going on
in Chicago right now, but it's getting uncomfortable with how
many different ways they're trying to tell us that Andy's
their guy. Are we gonna get a motivational quote with
a picture of Andy Dalton like with outward guy next

(01:14:59):
to it? Next time? Time? Come on Chicago, be better
when we come back. Cowboys Corner and getting ready for
Raiders talk really good tweets, including a conspiracy theorist that
says we're getting played? Are we We'll talk about the
next on Fox Sports Radio probably not doing my job
right unless I start sprinkling in a few highlights from tonight,

(01:15:24):
including solid performance from the Los Angeles Dodgers, who get
on track with their first win of the seasons. A
liner in the right center field, a diving stab by
black Men he can't get it, gets past him, rolls
to the wall, Owings picks it up throw coming in

(01:15:44):
too late in the score is Smith. Luxx arrives at
third and Dodgers lead eight to nothing. Dodgers knockoff Colorado
eleven to six. Trevor Bauer made his debut how to
No Note What heading into the seventh, six and a
third loud, three hits, struck out, ten walked to. David
Price was in relief, and the Dodgers get win number

(01:16:08):
one on the season. Well sprinkling some baseball scores as
we roll along. But let's get to the phones and
anytime Cowboy and Windsor checks in and we can have
a version of Cowboys Corner to wrap up our two
on Fox Sports Radio. Let's do it. Good morning, Cowboy,
what's going on? Chris? And Happy thirty six birthday to

(01:16:29):
my nephew Michael Back. Happy sixtieth birthday to Eddie Murphy.
Happy birthday the former heavyweight champion James Smiths three months
and three days older than nine to Chris Bossio, the
former Big league pitcher and pitching coaches eight but he's
a bigot whom the Tigers fired his pitching coach three
years ago after calling a black employee a monkey, and

(01:16:52):
see fifty nine years ago today Benny kid Perette UH
died of brain injury suffered from losing the welterweight title
um my twelfth round kale to Emel Griffiths. That was
March nineteen sixty two, with a fight my father and
I watched on accommalcative boxing. I was eight. Then thirty
eight years ago today Danny rapped from the UH. Danny

(01:17:16):
and the juniors blew out his brains and see Telegraph
of Ventnor. Samuel Morris passed away April second, eighteen seventy two,
And exactly a century later, Mets manager and former Boys
of Summer Dodgers first baseman Gil Hodges had a fatal
heart attack two days before his forty eighth birthday. And

(01:17:38):
happy Easter everybody in UH. Fifty three years ago to
Marrow Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Was assassinated at Memphis
Lorraine Motel three days after the final episode of The
Andy Griffiths Show, which I used to watch as a boy,
and twenty years ago today that Pistons Jerry Stacko scored
fifty seven points against the Wolves, which is still the

(01:17:59):
team single game scoring record. And as I mentioned before,
I have a good to have a happy Christmas, Happy Easter,
Chris and everybody else there. Uh, maybe speak to people
next week. Black Cowboys and Bucks and blonds matter by
for now. You know, I've always wondered if Cowboys scripts

(01:18:19):
those out or if it's just top of mine I
gotta be scripted, or no, I've talked with him on
the phone. That is off the top of his head. Impressive.
I mean, listen, I go mostly off the top of
the head on everything. But that's that's really impressive. They
used to You're much kinder to him. He used to
start playing. Ben played all the sound effects in the background,

(01:18:39):
and he just stayed focused. Oh I still I still
do that on Ben show here here on here on
the weekends. We're kinder oh Man. All right, So thanks
Cowboy for checking in. Always a good episode. Whenever you
get a Cowboys corner. Right, I've I've got a tweet
here from Tampa Bay Beat One that plays into what

(01:19:04):
I think was one of my biggest questions when this
whole Deshaun Watson saga started, because I couldn't help, but
wonder where where's this coming from? At Tampa Bay Beat
One rites you and the members of the moron media

(01:19:26):
are being played by Busby and the Texans. Their amateurish
attempt at a smear campaign will be laid bare. You
will be embarrassed. I mean, I don't know, man, I've
I've had some takes and I'm pretty embarrassed uff. I mean,
I thought J. J. Watt was going to be a bust. Now,

(01:19:47):
I thought the clear Mack trade was a good trade.
And I still thought that Johnny Menzel was a solid
NFL potential quarterback. So I've had some embarrassing takes out there.
I mean, I don't understand what you're getting at. And
unless we're going back to the black Helicopter conspiracy theory

(01:20:08):
that in some way, shape or form, this was all
created by the Texans in conjunction with Tony Busby, who
has done anything but work with the Texans. And now
you wanna claim that he's coming up with this as
a way to keep Deshaun Watson in Houston. I won't

(01:20:29):
lie to you, man. I love conspiracy theories. If there's
a conspiracy theory podcast out there, I listened to it.
I don't know if there's people that live in the
center of the Earth or not. I wonder if there's aliens.
But I just I can't buy into that. This is
this is too intense, This has gone too far. If

(01:20:51):
this was an attempt to keep DeShawn in Houston, are
an intentional smear campaign by Texans employees leaking this information
shan to Tony Buzby, I just I can't allow myself
to go there because the team would be sold tomorrow
if that was the case, and you'd have some major
issues in the NFL. Alright, when we come back, it's
time to go all in on the Raiders. Raiders talk

(01:21:15):
with Ka Fig and I here on Fox Sports Radio.
Oh our three or four, let's go. We're talking Raiders
here in moments with Ka Fig. My name is Chris Plank,
I live on Twitter. Hit me up at Plank Show.
We've touched on a lot of topics tonight, a lot
of topics, and I feel like we've just started to

(01:21:36):
scratch the surface. So to recap quickly. Major League Baseball
has pulled the All Star Game out of Atlanta. One
of the likely landing spots appears to be Colorado, But
as Jason wrote on Twitter, the Brewers should host the
All Star Game to have Major League Baseball honor Hammer

(01:21:58):
and Hank Aaron. I mean, it is the city who
made him famous. Then again, three months before the game,
they do have the hotel rooms needed, you know that.
By the way, that's a great sidebar to this. Where
are you going to put people up in that short
amount of time? Now we're still we're still at a
situation with COVID protocols and people that aren't fully vaccinated

(01:22:22):
yet and trying to be as smartness safe as we can.
So maybe all the hotel rooms aren't purchased up in
that time in both Denver, Colorado and potentially in Milwaukee.
But yeah, I like that idea. I like that idea,
Jane Jason. And then our man PDJ hits us up
again and writes, as we were talking about the NBA

(01:22:43):
and the unfortunate performance tonight of the Golden State Warriors,
if you missed it. Golden State struggled just a bit
tonight in falling by the unfathomable sum of wait for it,
wait for it. They lost by h fifty three fifty three.

(01:23:12):
Now I'm sorry, I understand there was one tweet earlier
g dB a run. I'm not a Warriors fan, but
in case you forgot, Houston lost by forty nine and
the Clippers by fifty one this year. It's fair enough.
But this is the Warriors, man, this was supposed to
be the ultimate franchise in the history of ever. Apparently
I made I made my man PDJ a little bit,

(01:23:34):
Mattie writes before the next five minutes a little qui
are monologue that passively aggressively details the Warriors demise. Fox
Sports Radio needs to invoke a new rule for you, Plank.
You should be required to make a disclaimer that you
cover the Thunder in r an Okey. I do you
want me to really confuse you? I cover the Thunder.
I live in Oklahoma and I'm a Lakers fan, So

(01:23:57):
try to figure that one out. And a team that's
trying to tank in the Thunder are only two and
a half games behind the Warriors in the standings. Why
does that make sense, dude, I'm I'm not picking on
the Golden State Warriors. There's no need to. They've They've
gone from being the greatest story in the NBA to

(01:24:18):
who irrelevant And the only times we're talking about them
is when they lose by fifty plus. If if the
owner GM wouldn't have spent so much time about telling
us how they're changing the game and how it's a
new era and the Warriors are taking over the league,
then I don't know if they would be as despised
as they are. I got no problem with them. I mean,

(01:24:39):
it was a cute story while it lasted. Now just
enjoy staph playing for the Lakers. I can't, I can't PTG.
Don't get you. Don't you get mad at me? War
if it I'm playing, simply playing. And then, of course,
the other big stories were following tonight, beyond the tough
loss for the Warriors, beyond the baseball also our game

(01:25:00):
getting pulled out of Atlanta is that it looks like
we've reached the next level in the Deshaun Watson saga.
Charges have been filed against him. Had a huge upset
in the final four. You heard k fig break it up.
Yukon gets eliminated by Arizona. So on All Pac twelve
Women's Final Four. I've got a complete preview of the
men's Final four matchups coming up to kick off our

(01:25:21):
number four, and we gotta get into fans in the
stands in l A. But right now, put all notes aside,
kick my feet back, pull the microphone a little bit,
and say hello to our update guy co hosting night,
Kevin Figures, because it's time for some Raiders talk now,
k Fig, you and I talked about trying to do
this every single show we do together for some reason,

(01:25:44):
either A we get too angry or B I get
too mad and start throwing things, but noted members of
the Raider nation. He's Kevin Figgures. I'm Chris Plank. Let's
quickly touch on the one thing that is the most
polarizing topic in Raiders fan lore right now, and that
is Derek Carr. Are you surprised that we're going into
what are we? Season eight with Derek carrs the starting

(01:26:06):
quarterback for the Raiders. And I'll tell you what, I'm
even more surprised because I had all the experts tell
me he was never even going to start when they
got to Vegas, and that John Gruden wouldn't like him,
And it kind of seems like he's excelling a bit
undergroud he is. His numbers have gone up last year.
It was great. I think, you know, it's his familiarity
with think Gruten system. The problem is, and I think
Gruden kind of brought it on himself. You know, he

(01:26:28):
falls in love with every quarterback prospect he sees. They
say that his favorite quarterback is the one he doesn't have.
Is the always is always the popular saying with John Gruten.
But Derek Carr is showing some growth. I don't He's
not perfect. Obviously, he's not a top five player. But
I think we agree that if he has enough talent
around him, there's no reason why he can be a
good enough quarterback to get you to the postseason and
make you have you make a run. Look what he

(01:26:49):
did in twent He's sixteen before his legs snap against Indianapolis.
He was on a front runner for m v P
at that time before he got hurt on Christmas Eve.
So it's not like he's not an effective player. My
old thing with him is that he just needed to
have viable weapons around him, and you saw when he
has weapons around him, it could be a very good
starting quarterback. So I do believe that Mike Mayack and
John Gruden are always looking to try an upgrade. And

(01:27:11):
if you have a chance to get Tom Brady, or
if you have a chance to get another a great
player Deshaun Watson or Russell Wilson, you would be foolish
to not look into doing that. But I don't this
belief that they were gonna cut get rid of Derek
Carr for no reason whatsoever. I never bought into that theory.
I thought that a big reason why John Grewten took
the job was because he thought Derek Carr could be
a viable starting quarterback in the NFL. So I was

(01:27:33):
never on that train that John grewd never wanted Derek
Carr from the start. I do find it fascinating that
it's just it's a story that continues to come up
every single year, and I don't know. I obviously, Derek
Carr's record kind of speaks for itself as a starting quarterback,
and we have to go back, you know, two thousand
and sixteen. You think about two thousand and sixteen. Cam

(01:27:54):
Newton was the m v P of the league right uh,
coming off his two thousand sixteen season. But mean, I
digress because the topic that has really heated things up
isn't necessarily about car anymore. Even though it's a very
polarizing topic. It's not even about offensive depth. I think
people feel pretty good about the weapons. It's about the
offensive line. And I gotta be honest with you, with

(01:28:16):
the money they had invested in it before. I guess
this is planned Plan C, right. Plan A was to
try to win a title. I know Vic Tafer wrote
this while back. Plan A was to try to win
a title before you left Oakland with Clil McK and
Amari Cooper, and it just didn't work out. So you
go to Plan B, which was built around the most
expensive offensive line you can have. That didn't work. Now

(01:28:37):
they're off the Plan C, which I guess. I don't
know what Plans C is, k fig. I have no
idea what Plans C is right now for this franchise.
It seems like they're a bargain basement shopping for the
offensive line, and I think that that goes right in
line with the history of Tom Cable who's our offensive
line coach he's thought of. I know for a while
he was thought of as one of the worst offensive
line coaches in the league. But he has had let

(01:29:00):
levels of success at different points in his career as
an offensive line coach. So I do think the belief
with him is like, they have this Andre James kid
who they like at center, who started one game, and
they got rid of Rodney Hudson under the belief that
he can, you know, be a viable starter. John Simpson
is a guy that they like who they dropped out
of Clemson last year. I think their belief is as
much money as we invested into the offensive line. Yes,

(01:29:21):
our offense was good, but we were never dominant upfront,
so maybe they felt felt they weren't getting the return
of the investment. And if that's the case, why not
use that money and allocated to other places like your
Yann King got Ways or your John Brown's, your skill
position type players on the offensive side, and maybe the
defensive line, and try to reshoffle the offensive line a
little bit and see if you can get at least

(01:29:42):
comparable or decent production. You know, incognitos back, which I
think is a huge resigning. He missed most of last
year with an injury, and maybe they won't be as
good up front on the offensive line, but maybe they
feel like they won't take a gigantic step back and
their hope is the defense will be a little bit better.
That's my guess. That's all I can think of. Your
guess is right. But the numbers are fascinating. I mean,

(01:30:02):
I know, Prefect, you get into team building like I do. Bo.
I know you're a fan as well, but the Raiders
had sunk fifty seven million dollars into their offensive line,
which was eight million more then the team that was
second according to spot rack. Whenever we're talking about money
invested in the offensive line. So you feel good about

(01:30:23):
Colton millerwich, by the way, is a great draft story
because when Colton Miller was drafted by the Raiders in
the first round out of U C. L A. It
was mocked. It was lab Mike McGlinchey was the only guy.
And now I mean not not trying to tell you
that he's a rock star, but he's been a rock
for the Raiders. Um as you mentioned with incog Needle,
you've got John Simpson out of Clempson they like Andrew

(01:30:44):
Andre James a lot, and we'll see if they dropped
the offensive lineman in the first round. I think the
key here they've they've invested big time in the defensive line,
at least in numbers. I don't necessarily know in true
difference makers outside of maybe in gock Way. Gus Bradley
is gonna have a new system now. I think a
lot of that focus with depth on the D line,
linebackers galore. Gotta fix the secondary and the drafting and

(01:31:07):
maybe even in a in a in a move like
a Richard Sherman or someone right, are they going to
address it? You'd have to bring in some sort of
veteran to help out the defensive backfield, because the veteran
that they had was La Marcus Joiner, and for salary
cap purposes, they had to cut him loose. So now
you're looking at being a young across the board from
your defensive backs with no viable experience. I guess there's
still it seems like there's a bit of a depressed

(01:31:28):
market when it comes to free safeties, and that's a
bit of a hole for them as well. So if
that if the number drops on some guys who are
still available, like ray Sean Jenkins, a former charge Will
played for Gross Bradley. Maybe someone like that can come in,
but even he is not an impact player. But yeah,
you're right. The biggest glaring hole for them and it
has been for a while. We know this. Outside of
the defensive line has been their secondary and they just

(01:31:48):
have a lot a lot of young guys without much experience.
Now granted, because Bradley is a defensive backs coach by trade,
that is his specialty, and maybe they're banking on that.
They're banking on your Trayvon Mullins and you're a meek
rob since we didn't play that much last year on
taking giant leaps. I'm growing in right there with that, Chris,
trust me, But I really don't fully understand what the

(01:32:09):
what the plan is when it comes to the defensive
backfield because they just don't have a lot of a
lot of experience back there right now, which is what
you need in this passing league and agree and the
division they play, Yeah, with justin Herbert Patrick Mahomes, I mean,
I I don't know, Chris, and my crazy if I
still think that Drew Lock can be a good quarterback,
maybe think there there's a there's an outside chance at

(01:32:31):
this point, but it is dimming, it is demming. I
think I've seen enough in the NFL. I'm not going
to completely discounted, but clearly the Lebroncos see something there
to at least tried to develop. I just don't I
think those chances are dimming. Maybe they make a move,
May they end up moving up in the draft to
get so My point is they've got weapons there. They

(01:32:52):
now they they haven't necessarily been healthy, but they have
weapons there. So you're right in that division you need
a good secondary. But I'll tell you what I'm I'm
kind of all in on two things right now with
the Raiders. Okay, I'm all in, and that I think
they're gonna be better now. Eight and eight. The NFL
is set up for every team to go eight and
eight assnion, but there were at least three games. I

(01:33:15):
don't think you look back on last year and maybe
this is just me as a as a Raiders fans
slash someone who covers them. You know, there were times
in Cecil last year would be twenty. I hate when
I do this and try to figure it out. There
were times in twenty nineteen where they won two or
three games, and I'm like, they had no business winning
that game, you know, sixteen you could say that I
didn't look back last year and thought they won a

(01:33:37):
game that they didn't didn't have any business winning. I
thought they lost a couple. Well maybe the Jets, maybe
that's game. Absolutely just called myself one. That's the one.
And if you want to say that was even doubt
by the Miami game that they had no business So
those games even themselves out. But then, okay, if those
two are a washed, like in other words, if we're
going with the uh, ignore the highest. Are you eliminate

(01:34:01):
the highest, eliminate the lowest? Those two watch each other.
But there is at least three games in there that
they could have won and should have won. Maybe, so
I have an incredible positive feeling about this offense. But dude,
I am just I am so concerned as to whether
or not this Gruden way is still the way to go.
And and let me explain this guy, whom I am

(01:34:22):
impassionately a fan of beyond just being the Raiders coach.
I love them as a broadcaster, I loved them as
a as an assistant. I love John Gruten, but something's
amiss around the nine game mark are ten game mark.
I went back and looked everything his his Tampa Bay
Bucks teams. It didn't end well for him, But in

(01:34:43):
every single one of those seasons, he's like six and one,
seven and two, and I think in one year they
were even eight and two and when ohen six to
finish the season. Trader's team this year was six and three, right,
and they finished eight and eighty the year before six
and four. Go back to his last year in Oakland
and two thousand and one, that's uck rural year. Probably
they started that year eight and two and they finished

(01:35:03):
ten and six. And then you know, if they don't,
if they win one of those final games they're hosting
New England, they're not going to New England, that might
be a different ballgame. There seems to be a trend
of his team's hitting the skids in the second half
of the season for whatever reason. That's the thing to
me that is the hardest thing to figure out. And
and again for a coach, you know, John Gruen's not
some thirty year old dude that looks at it said, man,

(01:35:25):
maybe I should do this differently. He's pretty set in
his ways, and I know that that he's changed a
lot since the fired Football Coaches Association that he put
together and had some fun with it. We turned into
the Raiders. But that to meet ka fig is the
big kind of hill to climb and figure out. Okay,
where can this team get better in the latter part
of the season. Yeah, that that that's a big question.

(01:35:47):
I mean, red zone offense has been an issue since
he's been back. That's been a major thing for some reason.
I honestly think defensively, they just have to be decent.
Even with their skids in the second half of the season.
You know, they were scoring still, you know, points a
game late in the year, which is good enough for
should be good enough to win football games. Their defense
has been atrocious and that's been the biggest issue that

(01:36:07):
he has been unable to fix yet the Paul Gunner
experiment which didn't work. Now he brings in Gus Bradley,
which a lot of pundits were not the biggest fan
of bringing him in either, saying that his defense is
a little archaic in the way that it's that that
it plays. If you don't have actual talent, that defense
isn't really that good so well that that remains to
be seen how he's going to be able to evolve
the way that he calls plays. But ultimately, for me,

(01:36:27):
it's just it's the way that they run the defense.
How is that defense gonna gonna turn the corner? They
need to be decent. They don't have to be spectacular.
They just need to be good enough, because I do
think offensively, John Ruten has given the team a shot
in the arm with the weapons they've drafted. Josh Jacobs
has been amazing. I think Kenyan Drake is a huge
offseason signing. He's kind of a swing if you want

(01:36:48):
to go back to life, that Charlie Garner type, someone
he had when he was in Oakland before. Can catch
passes out of the backfield, can make an impact on
special teams, can run the ball out of the backfield. Offensively,
from the skill level standpoint, I think they're fine. They
just gotta be find a way to improve defensively. We
need to update the Ice Cubes song and have it.
You ain't ready for the Vegas Raiders. H it's you

(01:37:08):
ain't ready for this football. I can sing this soul
song if you want so. There's our Raider talk here
on a Saturday night into a Sunday morning. Anything that
I that we left out. We hit car talked about
the defense, concerns about late season meltdowns. How about this,
what do you do at seventeen. You're sitting at seventeen.
You got eighty six third round draft picks again this year.

(01:37:30):
But what do you do if you're sitting at seventeen
right now, Well, seventeen, I'm looking at right tackle big time,
or I'm looking at the defensive backfield yet again, if
you can find an impact safety, those are the two
glaring holes for me. Or quite honestly, you can never
have enough good pass rushers, trust me. The Raiders know this.
So you sign young con Way, it wouldn't hurt to
find somebody else to give him a little bit of

(01:37:51):
a tag team partner, because I think we're finding out
cleanland fare All. Ain't that guy. He's a solid player,
he's a he's a good player. You can move them
inside on passports situations, can do a little bit here
and there. But I think most of us can agree
that he's clearly didn't warrant the fourth overall pick of
what he was a couple of years ago. He's a good,
solid NFL defensive end, but nowhere near the talent that

(01:38:11):
they thought he would be. They need someone who can
rush the passer, and Yanni Cantway can't do it all
by himself. Good stuff, k Fake, Good stuff, by the way,
best available NFL free agents still out there, Jadeveon Clown.
He doesn't have a team interesting right, which blows my mind.
Uh too, good offensive lineman and Mitchell Schwartz and Eric
Rider are available. We talked about Richard Sherman and I'm

(01:38:33):
just preparing um Chris Perfette for Antonio Brown to the
Detroit Lions. Make it happen, all right. I think all
the starters are coming back in Tampa Bay. I think
we're good. They might be. They might maybe they decide, Uh,
we can move on from this Antonio Brown headache now? Alright?
Good stuff, thanks K Fake. I feel better about things
like we got a Raiders talk out. We're able to
talk it through, spend of the time on the couch.

(01:38:55):
You're talking about a little bit. You feel better. Still
very angry about last year's Tampa Bay Buccaneers game. Have
like a third and sixteen and they converted it on
a dump off to a running back and the Raiders
got destroyed after that awful all right, anger activated when
we come back, There's more NFL stories to get to,
including I feel like I'm the only sane person when

(01:39:19):
it comes to this quarterback in the NFL draft. And
we'll get into the next on Fox Sports Radio, a
couple of notes from games earlier tonight or I guess now.
As we roll towards one thirty on the West coast,
San Diego proves to two and oh as they knock

(01:39:41):
off the Arizona Diamondbacks. Here was the final call on
the Padres Radio network ground in the right side. Quarter
Worth too is right, he's got it. Throw the first
base in time. That is the ball game, That is
a winner, and the Podreys start the season two and
oh four to wit over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Sorry, Profet
was still having the audio down from trying to smooth

(01:40:04):
the Raiders nation bed and under k Fig And of course,
on the NBA side, tonight, fantastic finish between the Raptors
and the Warriors. The Toronto Raptors win this ball game
by fifty three points, one thirty seventy seven is the final.
I'm not lying. If I was the play by play

(01:40:26):
guy and I looked up and it was one thirty
seventy seven, it would take me quite a bit of
time to actually do the math and be like, all right,
so if you get into three, that makes eighty fifty one.
It would take me I would need a calculator to
figure that out. But again, um, it's a situation where
I give Draymond Green credit and at least he's he's

(01:40:47):
been honest about motivation right now for the Golden State Warriors,
thinking like, man, we need to win the games, so
I want to win it. But I'll be one of
answer with fighting for a playing spot does not motivated
where and what? Fighting for a playoffs spot doesn't motivate me? Like,

(01:41:08):
I don't go into these games thinking at all, like hey,
right there on the fridge, we need to win these games.
When he's playing spot, No, I want to win every
game by playing because I hate Lucy. So that's what
motivates me, not fight for some players. But I don't
really give a damn about the playing spot, to be
honest with you, I want to win every time my stuff. Look,
So that's that's what motivates me. It's one of those

(01:41:31):
that's one of those quotes that you kind of need
to hear before drawing a conclusion about it. Ah, Draymond
Green doesn't care about the playoffs. Not Draymond Green does
does care about the playoffs because winnings a result of
the playoffs, but he doesn't necessarily care for the stupid
conversation surrounding a playing game. All right, let me uh,

(01:41:53):
let me hit a little NFL draft talk. This is
my passion. This is for some stupid reason. Whenever I
was a little kid, I fell in love with the
NFL draft process. I would call sports radio shows and
ask the late great Joel Bush bomb questions and be like,
shut up, kid, Bill Musgrave's not going to be an

(01:42:13):
NFL quarterback. Disagree, but I'm always fascinated in today's era
where perfect how many mock drafts do you think are
out there right now? I mean, everyone pretty much has
a mock draft, right. We're gonna be talking in the
hundreds here. I I almost wonder sometimes if we're talking
and like the trillions, But everyone has a mock draft, right,

(01:42:37):
and there is one universal thought and every single mock
draft out there Trevor Lawrence is going number one to
the Jaguars. Right, everyone agrees that's happening. I agree. I
think it's a slam dunk. There's a second universal thought
that everyone seems to agree on. Zach Wilson is going

(01:42:58):
number two to the Jets. I ain't buying it. I'm
not buying it. I'm not buying it because I don't
even know if the Jets truly know what they want
to do right now. And I'll be damned if I'm
going to get suckered into another guy who throws the
ball a long way off one leg like I did
in JaMarcus Russell. But side note on this, these aren't

(01:43:21):
the first Pro Days that have ever happened. We can
quit losing our minds every time a guy throws one
that hits a receiver who was uncovered and stride while
he's not pressured by a defender. I think we've kind
of law I think not having the combine made us
a little crazy, because I remember everyone's saying before we
got to the Pro Days, we careful what you see

(01:43:42):
at Pro Days. Oh Pro Days. We know from years
and years he was Pro Days. They're they're set up
to make these guys look better than they are. They're
set up to have ideal conditions and and then not
having the combine. I think it's made everyone go crazy
and it's like we need, we need, we're gonna lose
our minds to the pro days. Okay, they are and
they are. You're right by the way, just trivia. Do

(01:44:03):
you know the last time, just just because we're we're
we're looking at like quarterbacks constantly the top of the draft?
You remember, do you know what? The only there's only
only happened one time in the NFL, in NFL history,
The only one year where we went one to three
quarterback was all three picks at the top of the draft.
I do because I just saw this the other day,

(01:44:25):
but I've completely forgot. So is that is that hedging?
My bet? Here? What year was it? It was NFL Draft?
You want me to tell you who those quarterbacks went?
Just to show you just just an illustrated point on
how hard it is to hit on these things. Go ahead.
Number one was Tim Couch to the Cleveland Browns. Number
two was Donovan McNabb to the Philadelphia Eagles, and then

(01:44:48):
Achilles Smith to the Cincinnati Bengals. You know who else
went as a quarterback in the first round that year,
because I just had to look at was oh Man?
Was it the first round on that year? I think
it was the only three in that round. No, there
were five quarterbacks that win in the first round. Yea
Couch went one, McNabb went to Achille Smith went three.

(01:45:09):
Unless Wikipedia is lying to me, because this has Dante
Colepepper going eleventh overall to the Vikings and one of
my all time favorite it was Culpepper and Cade McKay
to make it down and that U C. L A.
Brewin who got d X crotch chopped while he was
walking off the field after the loss to Miami. I'm

(01:45:31):
still heartbroken by it. So it's a good refresher right
to remind everyone, Hey, y'all, we also thought that a
mere five years ago that Jamis Winston and Marcus Mariotta
were coming in to change the league, and both are backup,
So I guess we could debate whether or not Jamis

(01:45:52):
is fighting for that Saints starting job right now. It's
a great point, Chris, just because it's perceived to be
a slam dunk at quarter backs are going one to
three they're in all home runs. And let's tell you
it's kind of need to at the top two. We've
talked about this league being starved. But sorry, now I'll
get off the air. No, no, no, no, you know
what me If we start talking draft, I can't stop.

(01:46:12):
So it's fine by me. But you're right, it's it's need.
Everyone wants to be in a position where they don't
feel like they miss on Patrick Mahomes again, Right, that's
where everyone is. They don't want to miss on another
Mahomes and they're willing to take a risk. And I'll
tell you why. I think Zach Wilson is a big
time risk coming up in moments. But first gonna get

(01:46:33):
us caught up on everything that's gone on in sports tonight.
What's going on? Kevin all Right? In the NBA, you
had Jonson to the coupo, scoring forty seven points. He
also grabbed twelve rebounds as the Milwaukee Bucks the feet
at the Portland trail Blazers. Devin Book were at thirty
or two points for the Phoenix Suns as they got
a victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder for their fifth
consecutive victory. Atlanta with a victory, as well as the

(01:46:54):
Memphis Grizzlies Toronto with a blowout win over Golden State,
as we mentioned one thirty to seventies seven, Ascalcacom scoring
thirty six points on his twenty seventh birthday. As a
matter of fact, Boston with the victory over Houston, Luca
dodging twenty six points for Dallas as they defeated the
New York Knicks, Lakers, Jazz, and Hornets, all with wins
as well. In college basketball women's college basketball, that is,

(01:47:16):
of course, we got the player of the Year Page
Beckers for Yukon, but they were dominated by Arizona. Fifty
nine to win for the Wildcats. As they go to
the national championship game on Sunday, they will take on
their Pack twelve. I guess not. Brother and Sister in
Stanford held on to beat South Carolina in sixty six
to sixty five, So the Pack twelve till for the

(01:47:36):
national title taking place Sunday at six Eastern. And some
baseball action, Trevor bauerd ten strikeouts and just over six
innings of work as a Dodgers beat Colorado eleven to six.
Alex Bregman at three run home run Houston beating Oakland
nine to five, Padres holding on to beat Arizona four
to two. Back to Chris Plank, heybuddy, that's Kevin Figgers,
Chris perfect running the show along with Bo Benson. I'm

(01:47:58):
Chris Plank into night for Jonas knocks Jonas. I'm sure
we'll be back on his eight hundred shows mon coming
up next week. In the meantime, I am infactuated with
this draft talk that we're in the mid stuff. And
here's first of all, I'm not sold that the Jets
are going quarterback at two. And part of the reason

(01:48:19):
was in a report that came out today from Ralph
Viciano Vacciano. I believe from S and Y that there
is a faction that in the in the Jets camp. Now,
he should be very clear. The Jets have a pretty
entrenched GM who they gave a lot of money in

(01:48:40):
a contract, big contract too, who made the higher Robert Sale,
who was an offensive minded head coach, and they've basically
given Salah and you know, the front office the opportunity
to build this franchise as they want. But according to
this report from S and Y, some high powered personnel

(01:49:01):
within the Gents front office remain very pro Sam Donald.
Now perfect you were bringing it up on need Zack
Wilson was everything that they told us Sam Donald was,
And what would that be now seventeen eighteen whenever he
came out in the draft. I mean, hell, there were people,
there were people when Sam Donald finally got to start

(01:49:23):
with USC that we're having Andrew luck type comparisons to
Donald while he was still in college. So haven't we
gone down this road? Well? What am I talking about?
Its quarterbacks? We got on this road every single year
in the NFL draft. So, according to this report, there's
a faction that think that Sam Donald is still the

(01:49:43):
way to go and the guy to build around. Meanwhile,
there's a peer, there is apparently another group in the
organization that looks at themselves at more of as more
of a kind of a Wilson centric future for the team,
one that would give the Jets at least three years
to build around another rookie contract. Wilson's value laps Donald

(01:50:08):
at this point, and the S and Y report adds
that some around the league wonder if the Jets could
even fetch a second round pick for Sam Donald. Some
teams that would have made since as Donald suitors have
already moved on the Bears, the Colts, and really right now,

(01:50:29):
I think everyone kind of looks at what the Broncos
as the landing spot for any quarterback. The Jets were
connected to a trade of Donald or a trade of
the number two picks, but that kind of has subsided.
Trade inquiries have been made, but no one's really followed

(01:50:50):
through aut them. You could end up very much with
a Drew Brees Philip Rivers type situation from back in
the Chargers day. But let me pose this to you
real quick, prefect, because I did my my him study
thanks to Teddy Win Ted Winn of the Athletic if
you're into really trying to understand and not just look
at a guy and go, yeah, he's awesome. I saw
him throw off one foot. You see him throw off
one foot. It's amazing. But ted Win did a great

(01:51:13):
film break. I don't know why everyone that analyzes the
draft has a Hick accent, but just go with me
and when in depth. And something that he brought up
was Zach Wilson, a ratic ball placement played with a
dominant old line against a very easy schedule this year
for b y U and in two thousand and nineteen
against the more challenging schedule eleven touchdowns, nine interceptions and

(01:51:39):
nearly lost his job. And you're talking about the number
two pick in the draft. That's a project. You have
two of them in him and Trey Lance. I mean,
no one wants to miss on the next Mahomes. But
am I am I crazy and wanting to hit pause
a little bit here, per Fect on the Zach Wilson hype,
I'm not buying it. I mean, I think there's some

(01:52:02):
risks to him. I wouldn't say it's because I usually
see people kind of point out the level of competition
he played. I I don't buy into that. I don't
think that's legitimate, a legitimate concern, just because it's about
what you have as your fundamentals, is about how you
play that position, um going beyond like. But the problem

(01:52:25):
is once you go past Zack Wilson, I think there's
bigger questions for the other guys that come up. Mac
Jones has suddenly seen a lot of attention suddenly thrown
his way, But at the same time, mac Jones is
going to be a old style of quarterback. He's not
gonna be the dynamic. He's gonna stand in the pocket.
But that's I don't consider that disqualifying for mac Jones

(01:52:47):
as some of my other buddies think, just because like, yeah,
we see enough NFL teams succeed with with statues in
the pocket. On the other hand, uh, I I have
some questions about tray Lands and how much he's played
and then but Justin Fields is actually shot back up
and I think he's getting the right attention. I think

(01:53:08):
actually Justin Fields might be where they might go instead
of Zach Wilson's. If you truly believe the hype, or
unless you're somehow following along with a former Lions quarterback
who seems to really be muddying the water, it comes
you don't have a problem with the level of competition
that Zach Wilson played, right, And I agree. Do you

(01:53:28):
have a problem with the level of competition tray Lance played? No, um, no,
I have more of a compet I have more of
a question of just how much we've seen him play
that I can really go off of. But I mean,
the guy's got a hell of an arm. It just
needs to there's a little bit of development that he
probably needs to do. But that's that's what you're gonna
have with any kind of quarterback. The ideal situation for
any quarterback isn't getting thrown to the fire right away.

(01:53:50):
Not a lot of guys come out immediately pro rady.
Let's not get it twisted. I believe that the biggest,
one of the biggest keys to the success Patrick Mahomes
had was that he got to sit a year with
the Kansas City Chiefs. I wasn't just immediately thrown to
the wolves that and whenever he got out there, he
had Tyreek Kill and Sammy wat Travis Kelsey and a

(01:54:11):
good online, a good system around you, rather versus something
like Joe Burrow who just gets immediately thrown into the
fire with not a great offensive line around him. Like this,
this stuff matters, This stuff really matters coming into a
good position. I just don't know what you can really
do if you're the Jets except quarterback that would make

(01:54:32):
sense for number two. Now. I know Philadelphia thought they
could trade up, and clear apparently they just couldn't get
up there to number two. So I don't think they're
gonna trade the pick. And I guess the question is
that the right value. Then, given how starved, there are
teams like bron like the Broncos or anyone who wants
to jump uh San Francisco or real quick, I'm gonna

(01:54:54):
get back to Zach Well, I don't We'll talk about
the moves here in a second, but I wanna talk
about Zack Wilson. This is this is what fascinating me.
You don't care about where he played, I don't care
about the level competition. I'm with you on that skill set.
Where is he likely going New York? Do you worry
about the fact that the guy has been in Utah
is alive? And suddenly then you go from a fairly

(01:55:15):
sheltered existed at Corner Canyon High School and Draper, Utah
to kind of obscurity for at least the first two
years as the starting quarterback at b y U, nearly
transferring after your eight teen season. Now suddenly you're gonna
go from from b y U living all twenty one
years of your life and Utah to the Big Apple.
Is that a concern of yours at all? With him?
Let let me tell you. Let me tell you why

(01:55:36):
by by giving you one example that combines all of
this along with fighting against the idea of the levels competition.
Brett Farve came out of Southern Mississippi. This is true.
That's that's all I really need to do here. That
that's all I really need to do. Like you think,
one example is just blanket for all of them. I
I but I just I don't. I don't buy into that.

(01:55:57):
I don't buy into going to the big gapple. Like
the Jets are a circus, yes, but it's a circus
that if you're gonna be a quarterback, you need to
be good at quarterbacks. Well, but keep this in mind
with far Off two, he did come out of Southern
Mississippi and almost lost his gig in Atlanta because of
some issues that he had. Sure, So again, this is

(01:56:17):
one of my favorite debates to get into. Right now
is Zack Wilson And then of course that leads into
what happens at number two and you hit on the
fascinating conversation with that, which I want to get into next.
If not Zack Wilson, who And if you get it
out there that you're not gonna take Wilson it too,
then what is that? I'll tell you what. If I'm
the Jets and I've that torn and I'm thinking about

(01:56:40):
maybe sticking with Darnald. I kind of put it out
there that hey, we're open for business and we're not
gonna take Zach Wilson. I bet that the Carolina Panthers
would break the bank to get up there to two
to get the quarterback day won. But let's get into
that next, because I think you hit on a fascinating
topic when it comes to what could possibly happen at
two if the Jets aren't sold on Zack Wilson, alsoudn't

(01:57:02):
pick for you that could maybe that that is not
a quarterback, probably the best player available that's not a quarterback. Oh,
I like this. That's what you call a tease in
the business. Right here on Fox Sports Radio, it is
lying season in the NFL, L Y I n G
not l I owen lying season. So we have the
report last segment from S and Y that says the

(01:57:24):
Jets are split. One faction wants to continue to build
around Sam Donald, one is ready for the Zach Wilson
are well. Noted Jets insider Steve Young went on K
and B R in the Bay Area and said the
Jets have committed to Zach and they recruited the family.

(01:57:47):
I just don't know how that gets undone. But you know,
look a lot can happen. Boy, that's really hedge in
your bed right. They're drafting Zack Wilson in unless they don't.
But I don't know, you know how that happen, pens
Thanks Steve and the little Caveat the reason why this
was making headlines is because Young said, and I quote,

(01:58:09):
there's no question in my mind if the forty Niners
can figure out how to get Zack, that's their number
one first choice. I just don't know how they get
it done. Now, remember before perfect pays off his tease
as to which player non quarterback couldn't maybe get a

(01:58:29):
phone call at number two. The constant buzz i hear
is about how tight the Niners and the Jets truly
are solid spending all that time with Kyle Shanahan. The
Jets offensive coordinator has been with Shanahan for like a decade.
So if anybody knows what the Jets are gonna do,
it's the San Francisco forty Niners. I don't know how

(01:58:50):
much I listen. I love you guys, I really do,
but if I'm in a situation to where we're competing
against each other. I'm probably not going to tell you
what I'm going to do now. You might speculate, and
you could be right, but I'm not going to give
you any hints. So I guess in this situation, the
thought is that maybe the forty Niners are playing a
pretty good hunch. But Chris Perfett left us with a

(01:59:12):
nice tease before the break. Chris, if they don't go
quarterback at number two, which is a possibility but not likely,
there is a couple of players are at least one
that has caught your eye that you think would be
a logical choice at number two. Who is it? So
to be clear on this, I totally believe they are

(01:59:33):
kind of a quarterback, saying I've sold myself on it too.
And three, however, and as much as I love Piney
Sewell and I think he is probably the best tackle
in this draft by far, I have to give the
edge to like best non quarterback available to Kyle Pitts.
And I say that no for in honor of my

(01:59:58):
friend Ryan Matthews has been trying to conve into me
for the last three weeks that Kyle Pitts is not
just a tight end, but a wide receiver in a
tight ends body, just a Swiss army knife of a
receiver that can do anything and is genuinely probably the best,
just the best offensive threat you can ask for outside

(02:00:19):
of a quarterback right now, like just just to play,
to play anywhere on the inside. I don't know. I
don't know if I believe in his planning to kick
him outside to a wide out. But I mean, Kyle
Pitts is the real deal in drift. He he is God.
I I'll tell you what. That's exactly what I would think.
I've talked about this a lot. The crazy thing is

(02:00:40):
we get so caught up in quarterback conversation. Yes, I'm
going draft talk before the Final four preview next hour.
And I know the history Johnny Mitchell, Kyle Brady, Anthony Beck,
Dustin Keller, I get it. But you have generational talent
at a lot of positions tied ends. Last receiver you

(02:01:02):
got Kyle Pitts, you got Jamar Chase. I think a
lot of people are forgetting how good Chase and pin
a Seoul is on the offensive line because they opted
out last year. Michael Parsons is a plug and play guy.
From day one. At the linebacker spot. You've got a
group of really good rush edges. I just if you
just say you got two running backs, it will go
on the first round. I'll be later, but they'll go

(02:01:23):
on the first round. My point is, if you do
decide that, hey, we're gonna wait on quarterback, it's not
the craziest decision you can make, because there's guys that
you can draft, that you can plug and play from
day one that can be difference makers at need positions.
All right, when we come back, one of the biggest
events in sports takes place today and I haven't even
talked about it. A Final Four preview kicks off Our

(02:01:44):
four next on Fox Sports Radio Final Hour. Good morning
on the East coast, be saved driving home on the
West coast after a fun night out in the Central
time zone. I don't know what to tell you, probably
still asleep, but we've got an action packed tower. I'm
gonna focus here in the first segment on something that

(02:02:04):
we haven't talked about very much, which is the Final
Four is this afternoon and this evening. On the min's side,
last night, you have the upset and the women's bracket,
where Yukon is done. Stanford is moving on to a
title game showdown with Arizona Wildcats making their first ever
championship game appearance, an All PAC twelve title game. Well,

(02:02:27):
the Pac twelve get a team. And on the men's side,
we'll talk mccronin coming up here in just a bit,
but real quick, haven't talked much NBA. Two quick scores
to recap from last night. The Lakers rolled over the
Sacramento Kings. Kyle Kuzma looked pretty good, especially in the
third quarter for Cuss. Gonna give it right to alex
Okay it again one fine four as the Lakers light

(02:02:53):
get to win. Uh Kuzma big night thirty points, five rebounds,
three is ist And speaking of Roland, oh my, the
Phoenix Suns absolutely destroyed my Oklahoma City Thunder campaign. Over
on the right side, Pagne gets it out to Johnson.
Johnson starts to drive, feats Javon Carter fakes the three

(02:03:15):
back out. It comes to Cam Johnson, history Putter. The
Thunder were so bad at tanking that they shut down
Al Horford and now Shay Gilgis Alexander has that always
pesky planner fasciitis right isn't that the joke that every
single time, even though, by the way, planet Fasciitis sucks,

(02:03:35):
but every time that somebody misses time with the planet Fasciatus,
everyone's like, oh, oh, let's see what's wrong. Really anyway,
the Sons won that game one oh three. Of course,
most of the buzz around the NBA from the big
loss by the and I hate to keep bringing it
up because I don't want to make our friends in
the Bay Area madous. But the fifty three point loss

(02:03:56):
last night by the Golden State war ears, so uh.
I won't rub it into much more, but it's not good. Meanwhile,
the All Star Game has been moved out of Atlanta
due to concerns over the new voting laws. And I
wanted to play this. I've been hunting down all night long.

(02:04:18):
But a lot of people have said, boy, what what
about the tributes that we're supposed to be taking place
to Henry Aaron. Kind of seems a little bit wrong
that you would lose that, that opportunity to pay tribute
to a hero like that in a place where I mean,
let's face in with the braves. He made his mark.
But Dusty Baker had this to say, as it pertains

(02:04:40):
to how Hank Karon would feel about the All Star
Game being moved out of Atlanta. I think it's great
that they're gonna, um that the lead's gonna properly, Uh,
honor Hank Karen. You know, no matter of word, you
know where the game has played. Uh, I don't even
thought about possibly it might be Milwaukee since I was
hanks first and last stop. But you know, nobody said

(02:05:03):
anything about it yet. But you know, you know, my
opinion is is that you know, it's a positive move, uh,
you know by Major League Baseball, you know, you know,
to support uh, you know, voting rights. I mean that
was a pretty big and and and bold moved by Baseball.
And uh, you know, I'm proud of the fact that

(02:05:26):
they that they stood by by the voting rights of people.
Three reasons why go ahead? Um, even though it's in
his town, you know, like he always had the rights
of the people, um for in the forefront of his
mind and in his heart. I kind of trampled over
Dusty's best point in all of that, which was, you know,

(02:05:47):
for hey, Garon, he was very much about change, and
as we've talked about on this show, tonight. Sports leagues
have been influential in instituting change, and you can bag
on Rob Man for it all you want. You can
question if the motivation is more about sponsored dollars or

(02:06:08):
being woke, or or whichever way you want to look
at it. But they they made a statement as a league.
Now what will the owners have to say beyond the
frustration from Atlanta? I think this is gonna be an
interesting story to follow over the next but big, big
bulld move by Major League Baseball to pull the All
Star Game out of Atlanta? All right tonight, I guess

(02:06:30):
in the West Coast this afternoon, the Final Four takes
center stage in a season that was unique, to say
the least in college basketball. You know, typically we get
to a Final four and it wouldn't be surprising to
see a U c l A there, maybe even again Zaga.
But Baylor and Houston are very much not Duke in Kentucky.

(02:06:53):
They're definitely not Michigan State. So let's start with getting
to know that to fourteen Pacific I fourteen Eastern tip
between Houston and Baylor, and Baylor right now is a
five point favorite, that over under is a one thirty
four and a half. I'm not a gambling guy, nor
when I was a gambling guy, was I ever good

(02:07:14):
at it. But that hasn't stopped my partner on Sunday Night,
Arnie Spaniard, from making his pick. So here we go
take the under. In fact, living by the under has
been the right way to go in the n C
Double A Tournament. Oh side note, and I can't believe
we haven't heard from this guy yet. We got a
regular Texter tweeter I guess on the Sunday Night Show

(02:07:35):
that said, if you go Blue State over Red State
in the n C Double A Tournament, that you'd be
banking right now that it's almost at a sev win clip.
So I don't know what you would do in the
Houston Baylor game, Nor do I know what you would
do in that u C l A Gonzaga game. Maybe
you have to hold onto that to the National Championship game.

(02:07:57):
But Houston and Baylor, all right, Let's take you through
the week of press conferences, starting with Houston head coach
Kelvin Sampson and the optimism around this team right now.
They believe, as we teach our kids, the difference between
play and hard versus competing, and we hold him accountable
to that. If we work on rebounding, then you know,
we're not just going through ten minutes and practice. We're

(02:08:17):
ten minutes is getting better at rebounding. And our kids
believe in that. They believe in the work they've put in,
they believe in the results, and when we get in
tight moments, they believe that those results and that work
will come through for him. Houston is an interesting story
because Kelvin Sampson was basically in basketball purgatory right he

(02:08:39):
He did a great job let Oklahoma to championship games,
final four's, then it ended a little bit dicey. He
had some issues with abusing phone privileges, which is kind
of funny to look back on now, as that was
something you've got in trouble for what you were texting
too much like it's unlimited texting now. Meanwhile, he went
off to Indiana. I mean, on the court, his teams

(02:09:00):
were really good, but again ran into some of the
same issues whenever it came to text messages in recruiting violations,
and basically was out of college basketball for quite a while.
He went to the NBA. At one point some felt
like Sampson could be a candidate to be the head
coach of the Houston UH Rockets. And I think, if

(02:09:23):
I'm not mistaken, Kelvin Sampson was was even a finalist
whenever Utah hired Quinn Snyder. But this dude, I mean,
I'm a big fan of his. He was, he was
a two thousand and six, he leaves Oklahoma for Indiana
after two seasons. He's done. I mean, it's it's over,

(02:09:46):
and it's unlikely that he's ever gonna end up coaching
college ball again. Spends time, and it was Milwaukee, actually
not Utah, Milwaukee where they thought he was gonna get
the job because he spent three years as an assistant
with the Bucks and spent three years in a as
in a euston with the Rockets, and then in two
thousand and fourteen, like why not, let's see we can
get back into the college game. And after all of

(02:10:09):
the issues had been behind him, and you know, he
he's learned from it and we've seen that it's it's
I mean, Bruce Pearl, do you remember the name Todd Boseman.
Among those who ended up getting hit with similar type penalties,
Kelvin Sampson gets back into the coaching game, and by god,
his teams are good. And this isn't a flash in
the pan. Houston was a Sweet sixteen team in two

(02:10:31):
thousand and nineteen, they were gonna be a relatively high
seat in twenty before the tournament got shut down. And
now their final four team and Quentin Grimes, you're gonna
play in the NBA. He is e special. Started his
career at Kansas, transferred to Houston, averages eighteen per game.
He is solid. But in their opponent, the Baylor Bears,

(02:10:57):
Houston might be running up against the most complete team
in this NC Double A tournament. And yes, I say
that knowing that Gonzaga has two lottery picks, three first
round picks, and four overall draft picks. But let me
tell you about Baylor after Scott Drew braggs on Houston.
As far as Houston's backcourt, very similar to ours, very athletic,

(02:11:18):
they can all score, they can all create for others. Defensively,
they have a great toughness about them. You can see
why they've been so successful this year when you watch
him play. They just don't give up many easy buckets
or many easy shots. Everything is contested, everything is earned,
and three guys Jared Butler, who, by the way, Jared

(02:11:40):
Butler is their best player. He's been awful in the
n C Double A Tournament, and that role of best
player leading score has been handed off to davey On Mitchell.
I mean, you watch Davean Mitchell play and you can't
help but think about him in your favorite N eight
teams gear. He's fun and he's been really good in

(02:12:03):
the n C Double A Tournament. Got into a little
bit of foul trouble the last time out against Arkansas,
but still finished with twelve points at fourteen points against
Nova sixteen in the second round game against Wisconsin. He's
been great. But I mentioned depth in in Butler, Tige Mitchell.

(02:12:24):
They've got Matt Meyer who has the sweet flowing mullet,
and Mark Vital. They've got dudes that can do a
little bit of everything, and all of them can shoot.
So I've covered Baylor very close this year because they're
in the Big twelve and that's my beat. And this
has been one of those teams that when you watch them,

(02:12:45):
you're like, Holy, they're they're good. I know that sounds
very amateurish and not the most professional thing to say.
You drop your jaw in how impressive they are. But
that's what happens when you watch Baylor. I don't know
if they've stepped on the court the year, even in
the games they lost where they haven't been the best
team period, and they've they've dealt with quite a bit.

(02:13:07):
You know, they were undefeated and then shut down for
two weeks for COVID. I mean, that's a long time
to not play basketball. They beat Texas eighty three to
sixty nine on February two. They didn't then step on
the court again after beating Texas for two weeks, and

(02:13:31):
it they really seemed to lose a lot of their
their momentum. They they played Iowa State in a game
then on February and they didn't look like the same team.
They struggled most of that game and nearly lost. And
then they turned around and they got smoked by Kansas

(02:13:53):
in Fallallan field House. But they went on the road
and beat a very good West Virginia team and suddenly
got their eggs back underneath them. Despite getting eliminated by
Kate Cunningham in Oklahoma State in the Big Twelve Tournament,
Scott Drew found the right formula and they have rolled
in the n c Double A tournament so far. I mean,
I know that the final spread in the Arkansas game

(02:14:15):
was only nine, but they dominated Arkansas so early game
Baylor Houston to fourteen tip. I'm excited about it. I'm
also excited about U c l A being in the
final four. Now this really sucks for me. Let me
tell you why, because let's see what you're what's too

(02:14:35):
young to say that you probably started filling out brackets.
If I said I started filling out brackets at like ten,
does that make me sound like I'm trying to be
cool because I feel like I've been filling out brackets
my whole life, maybe like fifth grade, so whatever age
you are, in fifth grade, twelve, thirteen, whatever. Anyway, I
grew up a U c l A fan, and I

(02:14:55):
don't know if there was ever a time that I
didn't advance U c l A to the NASH Final
Championship game, or at least the final four. So this
sucks that I tried to put logic into this and
didn't bet with my heart or pick with my heart,
because I would have had U c l A in
the final four and I've been laughing at all y'all.
But I'll tell you what. Mc cronin has been a
fun follow not just in his dad becoming a superstar,

(02:15:18):
but in the way that he's coached this U c
l A team this year, which it still seems odd
to call a cinderella if we win those last four
of the regular season or not a cinderella. And we
could have won all those games. Uh, we had some
really bad breaks down the stretch against really good teams.
So it's you know, that put you down on the
seed line and it makes you a cinderella story. And

(02:15:41):
think about this. Here's what I've told a lot of
people about U c l A. Beyond like their personnel.
Imagine fifteen years from now, we're watching college football and
everyone's talking about a cinderella Alabama getting set to play
in the four team play off. I mean, that's maybe

(02:16:02):
we have to go back a little bit more than
twenty years, but that's how dominant U c l A
had been. I mean, they're just it's a good program.
And mc cronin's right, you know, I I see that
with a lot of the eight nine seats l S
U Oklahoma among others, Wisconsin, North Carolina. You win a
couple of games that maybe you're supposed to down the
stretch and you're not an eight, nine, ten or eleven.

(02:16:25):
But it worked out for U c l A. Got
some matchups that favored them. Johnny Jusang has been fantastic,
and here they are sitting with an opportunity to slay
the beast in Gonzaga. Largest points spread ever in the
final four game ever, fourteen and a half. Actually most

(02:16:47):
recent is fourteen. And you know, I I heard Adam Morrison.
I think it was today. One wasn't the herd. Yeah,
I heard at it and it was great because when
you think about Gonzaga, you know a lot of times
the lasting memory is is Adam Morrison and falling apart
late against U c l A and the Bruins moving on.

(02:17:07):
But this isn't about Adam Morrison. This is about a
team that's more than just the Gonzaga. The Gonzaga away
a bunch of underachievers, diamonds in the rough. These die.
These dudes are stunts. We've got two lottery picks. They've
got three guys who could go in the first round.
You've got four guys and you're starting five that are
gonna play in the NBA. This might be the best

(02:17:30):
team that Mark Few has ever had. Before we wrap
up this very elongated Final Four preview, everyone in college
basketball has been wanting to see Gonzagon Baylor play. I mean,
think about how we talk about Alabama and Clemson every
single year in college football. All Right, I can't wait
to see my homes in the super Bowl. I mean,
this is this is how people have talked about Gonzagon

(02:17:51):
Baylor this year. They're supposed to play earlier. Earlier this
season he got shut down because of COVID. Now it
looks like we may finally have that opportunity. But I'm
not gonna put anything past U. C l A. It's
just I know Gonzaga is the better team, but there's
just something about the way this team has played. Michigan's
got talent on par with Gonzaga. They got good players,

(02:18:13):
and U. C l a went toe for toe with
him and knocked him out. If you get a couple
of guys, you get hot from three lookout. Same thing
for I mean, if Clinton Grimes gets hot, we'll have
a good game there. But I think everyone in college
basketball is rooting for that ultimate matchup. This tournament has
had it all. You've had Cinderella stories, You've had underdogs
from out of nowhere. You haven't had a lot of
last second shots. And think we've had what one or two?

(02:18:35):
Alabama hit a last second shot to force overtime. A
Smith's missed the last second three to potentially win the
game for Oh, are you over Arkansas? You don't. You
haven't had a lot of drama, but but you might
get the matchup that everyone's wanted all season long. So
five fourteen Eastern Houston and Baylor. Eight thirty four Eastern
u c l A Gonzaga Final four tonight, Lucas Oil Stadium.

(02:18:58):
All right, we'll put a bow in our conversation about
college basketball. And when we come back, I want to
jump back to the NFL. And here's why, because there's
a story that seems to pop up every other month.
I don't know why, but it's reared. It's ugly head again.
We'll talk about it next on Fox Sports Radio. Elma

(02:19:20):
Scarce Rights on Twitter. You should do a show mocking
the mock drafts. I mean, I feel like that's what
we're doing, right And uh, then Justin and Cincinnati writes
you need a final hour mock draft. Huh huh. I
could do that, though, I will say I feel like

(02:19:43):
that it was a stretch to try to go as
in depth on my Final Four preview. I mean, I
gotta tell you guys something. I might be the only
person in Fox Sports Radio that's truly all in right
now on the Final Four outside of like Aaron torres
Our college basketball Gever. I love these two matchups, and
I love the potential championship game on Monday. But I

(02:20:05):
will say hearing Adam Morrison today got me thinking of
of years gone by, and you know, obviously it's different
this year, but I mean college basketball. Maybe I'm waxing
nostalgically because it was my first ever beat and I
can remember covering, you know, Tubby Smith whenever he was

(02:20:28):
at Tulsa and Bill self, yeah, I'm old whenever he
made his run at Tulsa. I mean it was it
was awesome. So there's there's a part of me that
it's just, well, it's awesome. College basketball. March madness is back,
and I think what adds to it is it's the
one event we really didn't have last year. We still
have the Super Bowl, saw the World Series, still had

(02:20:50):
college football, but the final four, the n C Double
A Tournament got taken from us. So enjoy today. But
as we segue to the NFL, Yeah, I'm going to
throw out a couple of thoughts on some picks just
in here in a bit. But I don't know how
this happens. We on my local show here in Oklahoma
joked a lot with my co host Josh about it

(02:21:13):
seems as if there's a story, like, for example, the
seventeen game schedule that comes out and everyone talks about it,
and then it kind of goes away for a week,
and then like a week later, all of a sudden,
it's like, hey, seventeen game schedules official. Like wait, we
just we just spend like three days talking about it.

(02:21:34):
Is this is this like those situations where someone reports
a story and then eighties six other people say, I
can confirm the report that was thrown out there by
Chris Perfett. Yeah, it's Bob Benson confirming the report of
the confirmation of Chris Perfett story. I mean, I just
feel like sometimes the new cycle feels like we're very forgetful,

(02:21:57):
like we just talked about this what are you doing
case in point, a story that seems to pop up
every every month, I mean maybe almost to a certain degree,
like every other week. Is the future of Aaron Rodgers.
I mean, I so today I'm going through a cut

(02:22:18):
sheet and I guess he was doing an interview with
Kenny Maine and the question I'm talking about Jeopardy came
around to what Aaron Rodgers future. Like I said last year,
you know, there's things are just out of my control.
The team has obviously the power to do what they
what they want. My job is just to play as

(02:22:39):
well as I can. Um. I think there may have been,
you know, ideas about what certain things meant in the
last year. I just focused on my play when I played,
played really well when m VP, and you know, I've
been having an ele of an off season, so that's
kind of what what's been going on with me. I mean,
I just I don't nothing has changed in what he said. Now,

(02:23:00):
you were in a profession where we're always over analyzing
what's said. So I'm sure there's a faction that says, oh,
I heard Aaron Rodgers and he dropped that he won
the m v P so obviously flexing on the Packers
there a little bit. What why because they took Jordan's

(02:23:20):
love in the first round last year? I mean, are
we still doing that? He's flexing on a team that
hold on, let me let me double check real quick.
Oh yeah, that's going to pay him one of the
richest contracts in the NFL. That that that team that
he's flexing on. I mean, he's he's only due to

(02:23:44):
make He's only due to make uh what twenty three
mill this year? And then I mean, I guess that's
that's not enough. But we've got to go even a
little bit deeper on this, right, You're gonna end up
finishing your career in Green Bay. Yeah, so far, it's

(02:24:04):
definitely been my team, I said, I said last year,
I didn't know if that was actually possible to be
able to finish there. I still feel like that's kind
of where we're at. I mean, I don't know that
a lot of that's in my hands, but I guess
we'll just what kind of see as we go. So
here we go. Aaron Rodgers makes a comment, no offense
to any bloggers out there, This isn't a knock, but uh,

(02:24:26):
the team blogs are the fan affiliated team blogs. Pick
it up, guys like for fatting myself talk about a
NonStop on our podcast, and then get into it on
Fox Sports Radio and boom, it's a full fledged five
alarm fire of a conversation about Aaron Rodgers future, which oh,
by the way, we just did two weeks ago and

(02:24:50):
two weeks before that. I call me crazy. I've I
think Aaron Rodgers is going to go the path of
just about every other quarterback late in his career. You'll
end up somewhere else. Is that after this season, well,
there's a potential out in his contract. I've started to

(02:25:11):
realize and tell you guys that I don't think the
salary cap truly exists. I think it's just a figment
of our imagination because somehow, all of these incredibly insane
contracts that somehow, some way can't fit under the cap
always magically do. But I want to watch Aaron Rogers play,
and I'm pretty sure it's gonna be with Davante Adams

(02:25:32):
and Aaron Jones and Green Bay this year. I don't
feel like we need to go back and have this
conversation over and over and over again. It's just comes tired,
but not as tired as lying season, which is completely
out of control. We'll explain coming up in ninety seconds,
but first, for the final time with me tonight, Kevin

(02:25:53):
Figgers comes rolling in to get this caught up on
everything going on in the world of sports. What's up?
K fig alright, Christ, we'll talk some NBA here. You
at the Lakers, still without Lebron James and Anthony Davies.
They get thirty points from Kyle Kuzman in a one
fifteen to ninety four victory over the Sacramento Kings. Milwaukee
Bucks yanness it to the kumpo eighteen of twenty one
from the field forties, seven points, twelve boards, three block shots.

(02:26:14):
One seven to one O nine was the final score
as Milwaukee defeated Portland's Chris Paul's seventeen points twelve assists,
leading the Sons over the thunder. Utah Jazz get twenty
six from Donovan Mitchell and the one thirteen to one
oh six victory over Chicago. That the twenty first straight
home victory for Utah and eight in a row overall Hawks.
With the victory over the Pelicans, Grizzlies and Hornets with

(02:26:34):
victories Luca dont twenty six points leading the MAVs over
the Knicks, Raptors all over the Warriors one thirty to
seventy seven, and it wasn't even that close to Major
League Baseball. Evlon Goria buster Posey both with home runs,
leading the Giants over the Mariner six to three, Padres
with the four to two victory over Arizona, White Sox
all over the Angels at Anaheim twelve to eight, as
jose A bra You hit a grand Slam Dodgers with

(02:26:57):
eleven to six victory over the Rockies, as Trevor Hour
pitched into into the seventh inning with a no hitter,
did have ten strikeouts in his first victory as a Dodger,
and the women's final four college basketball Arizona with the
surprising sixty nine to fifty nine victory over Yukon, while
Stanford notched a sixty six to sixty five victory over
South Carolina. Back to Chris Plank, thanks, ka fig have

(02:27:19):
a great week, but he always enjoy working with you.
Um One one quarterback that's kind of been left out
of our conversation tonight is Jimmy Garoppolo. I think Chris
you referred to him a little bit earlier. But according
to Michael Giardi of the NFL Network, the asking price
for Jimmy g has been a first round pick. So
the Patriots have been linked because I don't know if

(02:27:41):
you guys know this, but the Patriots actually drafted him
out of Eastern Illinois. But I think you you set
the asking price high because you you actually are probably
comfortable keeping Jimmy on the roster next year. I mean,
if if the Niners end up getting Trey Lance, that's
a developmental situation. I mean, this is a dude that

(02:28:03):
will need a Patrick Mahomes season. You put Trey Lance
in a situation where he needs to play right away.
I don't think it's gonna end well for him, But
if he has a year to sit and then maybe
it works. Meanwhile, lying season is always my favorite. We
talked about it last hour with the Jets, but now

(02:28:24):
it's a little bit out of control with Justin Fields. Now,
before I go any further, perfect give me your take
on former Lions legend dan Orlovsky. So I don't think
that I think I think he's got enough blow back
on what he did with I'm assuming we're talking about

(02:28:44):
you know, he went on the Pat McAfee show. I'm
gonna play the audio, but just in general, just in general,
your thoughts on Dan Orlovsky as an analyst, um as
an analyst. Sure, I try not to think of guys
too much as an analyst, to be honest, I just Dano.
Dano is Dano. We remember him finally for running out
of the back of the end zone intrigo. Meanwhile, he's

(02:29:07):
also become a draft insider. This was on the Pat
McAfee show. Again. Pat's got a unique fun approach to
his show, and guys are loose, guys are comfortable there,
maybe sometimes too comfortable. I have heard that he is
a last guy in, first guy out type of quarterback,

(02:29:28):
like not the maniacal work ethic. I've even heard it
compared to Justin Herbert where it was like dude, when
Justin Herbert showed up, it was like a psychopath. When
it came to working to get ready for the draft,
or even at school, like give me more, I want
to work NonStop. And I've heard that there are some
questions with Justin Field's work ethic. Now again again, oh

(02:29:50):
Dano not necessarily saying that he feels out, but he
heard it. But I think Chris in that situation, the
toothpaste is out of the tube, right. And I got
into a little bit of a dispute with one of
my friends. It's like, well, or lask, he's not saying that,
he's saying what someone else said it liked did the
words come out of his mouth? Did he say it
on a popular talk shows Boys talk show? Yeah, listen.

(02:30:13):
If you're gonna throw stuff out like there, you've got
to realize, Like, I don't know if someone was actually
telling this to Dan Orlovsky or not. If they were,
that's that's one thing. If it's if he's just kind
of using as a shield, I don't know. But like,
even if you're legitimately getting this from somewhere, you've got
to understand what you're doing to a guy when you
when you come out and just randomly say very these

(02:30:37):
very generic things about work ethic because we hear it
all the time with guys, and I just I'm not
sure what it really hopes to accomplish other than what
is basically character smearing. Some guys just approach work different
ways just because they're not the quote unquote Jim rat
or that they're the first guy in, last guy out

(02:31:00):
is not should never be a slight on their character.
The only thing that matters at the end of the
day is are you a good teammate and are you
able to produce on the field. If you are just
kind of nitpicking on a guy's work ethic, I feel
like that's just red meat for for certain types of people.
And it just it creates chum in the water, and
it does make it harder than to identify guys who

(02:31:22):
actually have real character issues, like at least one player
in this draft does it. It muddies the water. It
makes it hard to talk about these things because now
I'm starting to see it with other quarterbacks too. Suddenly
everyone's kind of taking the Dan Roulovski approach where they're
just like they're taking these these opinions, which can come
from anywhere. I don't know if they're scouts and every

(02:31:42):
and scouts aren't infallible. They have their own biases where
they might be coming from agents. Who knows, but either way,
they just throw them out against a wall and see
and see what sticks. And I just don't know what
these really hope to accomplish other than just just genuinely
assassinating a character over over what And if you, if
you're a fan that that says. Because I'm like this,

(02:32:05):
I'll also I'm saying, does it really matter what Dan
Orlovsky says? Does it really matter? And no offense to
Dan Orlovsky, I mean his opinion is fine, and I
have no problem with Dan, but yeah, it does this year.
And here's why. Teams haven't been in buildings, teams haven't

(02:32:26):
been to schools, teams haven't had a lot of one
on ones. Everything is still to a certain extent over zoom.
When you went to a pro day, you're only allowed
to have three guys from your team go. And let's
say you've got both a quarterback and defensive back that
you might be interested in. Well, you're gonna either send

(02:32:47):
that EB coach the quarterback coach, you know, to have
that conversation with the prospect. Now again, they're bigger investimating quarterbacks,
so you'll probably send your your head coach or maybe
even your GM for that conversation. But my point is
the in rermation is much more speculative, I think, in
one than it's ever been before because you're counting on
you know, zooms with college coaches or assistance that a

(02:33:11):
lot of people are involved in, and you've really got
a grind to get that true one on one field.
You've got to reach out to coaches, you've got to
reach out to assist in the people assistant and people
that you trust. So with that in mind, or Lasky
took the blowback and then came out I want to say,
even less than twenty four hours later with this, I

(02:33:32):
have heard those things from teams, um, and they might
feel that way, and UM, this is also a season
where teams are trying to say things to potentially get
a guy to drop to them. And so I've just
wanted to clarify and put it out there that, like,
listen over the last twenty four hours and more digging
that it seems or it sounds like Justin Fields's work

(02:33:53):
ethic is fantastic. And that's coming from two people who
have who have worked directly close to him. You know,
I've I've reached out before whenever I've heard reports about
guys that I've covered, and I've reached out to people
and I've said things like I think you're wrong. In fact,
I know you're wrong when you say. I mean, I'll

(02:34:13):
tell you I was adamant about it with Kyler Murray
because Charlie castle So I don't know Charlie Castley, after
his rant about how Kyler Murray wasn't a he wasn't
a hard worker, he wasn't good on the board. I mean,
I reached out to every person I knew that worked
at the NFL network and said, that's just not true.

(02:34:35):
I appreciate that certain guys have sources and people they trust,
but what I say, we're in the midst of in
the midst of lying season, and more than anything else,
you're trying to find any edge in a what you
know about a guy, or be kind of what Dan
Rolovsky hit on there, trying to get a QB's stock

(02:34:57):
to drop just a bit. So it's fascinating because while
everyone thinks quarterbacks are going one, two, and three, we
don't really know and maybe even four for that matter,
we don't really know what two, three and four are
gonna look like. And maybe there is an attempt by

(02:35:19):
I'm just gonna say, because they're sitting in three San Francisco,
to kind of get it out there that oh no, no, no,
things aren't smooth with Justin Fields and maybe covertly they're
throwing information out there about him that that obviously is
is meant to try to hurt his stock a bit
so he falls to them. I mean really, I mean,
I don't know, can anyone really hurt their stock that much?

(02:35:39):
I mean outside of Laramie Tunzil and having the smoke
mask on on draft night, I don't know. But there's
certain ways to do it. But I just I have
to harp on this again, Chris um I I just
hate the work ethic thing. I hate it because you
just you with just I mean, like, if you've been

(02:36:01):
to college, you know that there is not one single
or all purpose way that there's not one overruling way
that all people study. Some people have to be in
the library for for hours and hours on end. Other
people just have that didetic memory where they're able to
just get it done to get in and out. Some
people have different ways of studying, some people have different

(02:36:22):
ways of working. All that should matter at the end
of the day is the end result. I just when
I hear guys talk constantly talk on and on about
work ethic, I just want to know, Hey, what are
you talking about and be are you sure you're not
just chasing a phantom here, because maybe they just work
maybe justin fields. Yeah, maybe he I'm sure he works hard.

(02:36:44):
Maybe he just works hard in a different way than
some other people are used to. And they're not they're
not willing to admit that it's a different peg that
goes in a different hole. They just keep trying to
jam it into the square hole. They don't understand that
he just maybe work differently. It's it's it's it's I
and I and again everyone's wired a little bit differently.

(02:37:06):
I always remember who wasn't mel Kiper blew up because
people try to levy the same kind of thing at
Myles Garrett. It's like, oh, does Miles Garrett really care
so much about football? And mel Keeper went on an
extended to rate about you know, it's good to be
multifaceted and guess what, mel Kiper is right and Myles

(02:37:26):
Garrett is fantastic. I think too, the traditional ways and
I think you're kind of hitting on this of how
you study, how you prepare, how you prepare your body
are so different then some of the maybe older scouts
and the older mindset is used to rest is important.

(02:37:48):
You can do a lot of things from home. Now,
you don't have to be sitting in the film room.
You could have it on your iPad. You know. It's
just it's everything is and sometimes that can be perceived
at least I'm maybe some guys, maybe some guys work
in long spurts. Maybe some guys prefer to take you know,
plenty of breaks in between because it helps them mentally recharge.

(02:38:08):
Is just I think the thing that makes me matter
about it than anything else is that people now suddenly
justin field stinks because they had to run the ball
in the Big Tin Championship game. That's that's my favorite.
Oh well, did you see the Big Tin Championship game? Yeah?
And then I saw the four team playoff game against
Clemson that happened right after it. Yeah. I think the
worst thing I saw was someone was like put his
picture of his throwing motion next to Cardale Jones and

(02:38:31):
it's like, this is the problem right here. It's like what, Like,
I'm sure we could go find a hundred other quarterbacks
who in a single still frame looks like they have
the same motion with their arms. Like, when we come back,
we'll wrap things up because the fellows are hanging out. Next,
I'll give you my thoughts and what I think that
top ten is gonna look like. And we'll also get
you ready for a busy day including the final four.

(02:38:52):
Will have you covered right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Enjoy Spot, I Comfort and save big on your water

tankless made a simple dot com. I um was playing

(02:39:13):
around during the break with a mock draft that didn't
necessarily have quarterbacks going into places where they're projected. I mean,
San Francisco is drafting a quarterback. It's just a question
of which one. You don't move up to three without
wanting a quarterback. I mean, I'm captain obvious. Seemed like

(02:39:33):
crazy here, but I think you get the point. So
let's say hypothetically that faction in the Jets front office
wins and they want to keep Sam Donald, and Robert
Sala says, you know, I think we can build around
Sam Donald. He's he's still young, and I think, hold on,
it isn't Donald like only twenty three years old. He

(02:39:55):
might even be younger than that. He's twenty three. And
all these things that we're saying about Zack Wilson and McCorkle,
is that Joan mac jones and Justin Fields you're not
so much trade lance because I think we had higher

(02:40:15):
expectations for Donald than we did for Lands. I mean,
we're saying about Sam Donald, and there was a debate
up until draft date if it was gonna be Donald
or Mayfield. So what did the Jets say, Let's continue
to build our offensive line? Got McKay Beckton on one side,
and they dropped pen a Sewell, well, the forty Niners
get Zack Wilson like they want. Then Atlanta has its

(02:40:37):
choice of either Pitts or Jamaar Chase, and Cincinnati isn't
necessarily in that enviable position to get the best line
offensive linemen of the best playmaker in the draft. A
lot of things could still happen. Here's the great thing
I know. We are never right this early in our
mock drafts unless there's a slam dunk number one pick

(02:40:58):
like there is this year, which Trevor Lawrence. There is
so much that is wrong in the top ten right now.
Don't take it as the gospel you know you can
