Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports. Let's go, stinking genius, Let's go.
Let's go at least have the guts to show up.
Let's go again. I know this is your favorite thing,
and I love it about you. I still have yet
to find anyone that calls off a show on fire.
Maybe we need to ask the boss man, Scott Shapiro.

(00:22):
Has anyone ever called off a show because their team lost?
Maybe been there Isn't Ben notorious for that or no,
bet Ben Mallor does that all the time. He does
it all the time. If my Nicks losing the championship
to the Lakers, I'll call off the next step, and
I just want you to know. And then if my
Arizona loses in the national championship in football or basketball,

(00:42):
I'm gonna call off the next day. Also, by the way,
did you find yourself getting all in on the women's tournament?
I watched the whole game. It was It was a
lot of fun. Best thing that ever happened to the
women's tournament was that at least the game was close.
You didn't want it to be a blow. You wanted
one new team, especially because you know we always make
fun of the scores like you're thirty five the fifty. Uh,

(01:03):
and Arizona was one of those teams that would score
fifty about four years ago they were like a four
win team. So it shows that the women's game is
is closed the gap a little bit. I'm proud of you, Arenie.
I'm proud of you. That's all. Shut up. You are tight?
Why why shut up? You're expanding your horizons. You're like
Title nine, Arenie. Now you're gonna be Title nine, Aren'tie.

(01:24):
Suddenly you have something to to wrap your arms around.
You've got women's You don't have much in Arizona right now.
I mean, let's just be just Ivy League education and
uh and basketball. That's it. Baseball, baseball and softball too.
Don't forget about That's what I was said about, ready
to say. You need to start embracing softball. You need
to plan on coming down here to Oklahoma City in
late May, early June, and uh, then you have baseball

(01:47):
whenever the baseball season wraps up, sometimes in late June
early July. So embracing man, embracing. Hey, we got a
lot to get to on the show tonight. We got
an incredible Final four game that I know you were
on the air tearing last night. I haven't had a
chance to hear yet. We're gonna we're gonna have to
pull your call of that, but we'll get to it.
Todd Ferman is going to join us from Vegas an
hour two and I'm sorry, but we gotta we got

(02:08):
a championship game to preview. But Artie, I also think
we have a lot going on in the National Football
League that we need to take some time diving into tonight.
The next step is it is it closer than we think?
In that Shawn Watson saga? Is there drama about what
actually might happen at number two? Do we know who
the Niners are going after? And is there another one

(02:29):
or two big quarterback moves to come? And you know me,
you know me, if we start rolling down the NFL path,
you've got to rein me back. No, that's okay, because
Shawn already tweeted in waste three plus hours repeating yourself
going over and over with the same story headline like
last night's the buckle of the shows? What do you do?
What happened last night? We were talking about the u

(02:51):
c aganza and what do you do? You think we're
gonna do it. We would be mad about that. I
don't know. I mean, it was only one of the
most exciting plays in sports. And it happened twenty minutes
into the show. Twenty five minutes into the show. When
what do you think we're gonna start hitting out the
you know, hockey. I'm not sure what they wanted to hear.
You know, Actually that would have cracked me up. If

(03:12):
if if suddenly after the game, it's like, oh my gosh,
Jalen Sugs just hit a half court shot. Gonzag is
going to the championship game. All rights getting update on
that Sabers night, let's talk about that. Yeah, there you
go started Major League Baseball. Let's a breakdown all the
divisions and the games from the weekend. Oh man, what

(03:33):
a game though, right, I mean, when you think about
it's funny because you wasn't. Wasn't I'm just run up
the beat? Was it that great of a game? More?
Is it that we were starving because we didn't have
a tournament last year? I think it was a great game.
I really and that now again, I'm not ready to
die on that hill. I'm not sitting here. And if
you want to if you guys want to come at
me and go, no, it was a banked in shot
that then I'm not well skip Skip Bayless right in

(03:56):
Fox Sports own skip Bayless. And I'm gonna be a
great game if it was won by a lucky shot.
So I just want to throw that out there, Okay, Um,
I mean it's it's kind of funny. We always talk
about embrace debate and all these types of things, but
there's just sometimes you're like you, you you don't believe
that there's that outside of you on Twitter about that

(04:17):
comment I wanted outside of u c l A fans,
you you just can't believe that. Here's let me just
and I've already got my list that I'll go through
to the night of the top five greatest buzzer beaters
in n C double A tournament history. Will roll through those, Arnie.
But here's here's why I thought it was a great game,
and I wanted Have you heard the u c l

(04:38):
A call yet, Josh Lewin um playing. I'm sure we
heard I'm gonna a little I gotta dig in, I
gotta dig, I gotta dig for it a little bit.
I'm sure you've heard the Gonzaga call with Adam. We've
heard it. Yeah, it's incredible. The U c l A call.
It breaks your heart. Here's why, because everything about u
c l A would se a to you that they

(05:00):
had no business being in this position. They lost their
last four games of the season. They were eleven seed
in the playing game. Uh, you know, we can go
back to the story, best player had decided, well perceived
best player had decided not even to come to college.
Then another guy that that either what opted out of
got hurt. I'm I'm sure to Sagred could correct me
on that, but already, by god, they come from the

(05:21):
playing game. They knock off one seed. They're a blue
blood who was playing as an underdog here. And be
quite honest, there's not really a hateable guy on that team.
There's not a Don McLean or a Toby Bailey like
they had been in the past. Juice is a lovable dude.
We have the guy on last week Tigers, and I mean,
they're just a fun team. And then they go up

(05:41):
against thank you, thank you. Then they go up against Listen,
you can we can have a debate all night long
about how hateable Timmy is because he's pretty hateable, to
be honest with you, but he really is. He really is.
But you know, here's Jalen Sugs, a guy who could
have played quarterback at Georgia or Ohio State. He had
to beg Gonzaga to look at him because Mark was like, bro,

(06:05):
you're you're a blue blood guy. You're not You're not
coming here. We don't have one and duns at Gonzaga.
And sure enough he goes there. He's a great kid.
He makes the game winning shot and a game that
we all kind of expected from a u c l
A angle to be played in like the fifties. They
were at fifty a halftime almost so I thought it
was a great game, one of And you're right, Arn'tie,

(06:26):
there is a certain part of this that is we
didn't have the n C Double A tournament last year.
You make that, you made the analogy a lot of times.
You give a starve in person a Ham sandwich, they're
gonna tight it the greatest meal they've ever had in
their life, even if it's I don't know, uh not
named brand Ham and White Brad whatever. So there is
I think part of that, and there's a recency bias. Man.

(06:46):
You lived the closer than anyone. I loved everything about
last night, you know, and I can't wait for the
championship games. You know. After the game, obviously we were
watching the game and the ending was on when we
were live on the air, and then I'm looking at
the box score and I tell Torres, I will check
this out. No body h a new cel A shot
under fifty percent. A matter of fact, the only person
is Gonzaga. Um. I think they had one guy four

(07:08):
of nine, one, six or thirteen. Kisburgh was six and thirteen.
Other than that, I was like the worst shooting percentage.
All ten guys, all ten starters, all played great, are
all played very well, um, and some played great. So
there was no lack of anything, um to point the
finger and say, oh, this is what cost him the game,
unless you're gonna look at File shooting both teams and

(07:29):
shoot the File shots very well fourteen one in twelve
and twenties. So um. You know, anyone who whoever lost
was gonna look back at that. But it was a
fun game to watch. So I have a I have
a question for you from your perspective, what was it like?
I mean, were you in a commercial break were you
guys in the middle of a segment? We were we
we had gone to the uh if I remember correctly,

(07:51):
we had gone to the break, and when we came back,
it was already deep in the overtime or was in overtime? Uh?
And you know, I don't want to do the play
by play. We're not allowed to do the play by play.
We're getting serious trouble now, can we can we quickly
have a moment here on this, just just real quick,
just lead. You've been with us on the Super Bowl
broadcast quite a bit too, and I think that there's

(08:11):
a certain degree of play by play that you can
do if you're sitting here and going I watched the
Angels bottom of the six. There's two outrunners at second
Angels up four to three. They're given a stand. Now,
that's something that I don't think you can do. What
I've come to find out, Lee, is that Arnie's been
yelled at before by a former boss about doing play
by play on TV. So that is another host everyone

(08:37):
on the show, No, no, but but from that's funny, Lee,
that's funny because they're talking about him ruining it and
his feet. So you're your gun shy because your feeds ahead.
But your other gun shy is because back in the
day of what was that one on one sports or something,
a host yelled at Arnie and said, you can't do
play by play like that. So now it's like made

(08:57):
Arnie gun shy to even barely mention what's going on
on TV. So I I just wanted to point that out.
It was. It was a good bonding moment for me
and Arnie today when we were going back and I'm like, Artie,
I think it's okay to say, oh, my gosh, sucks
is putting up a half court shot? You were even
afraid to mention that. I'm just I'm just more cognizant.

(09:17):
Or we're doing the Super Bowl broadcast, or we're doing
like the semifinals, and if it's just a regular baseball game,
nobody's ever gonna question, um, you're doing play by play,
But when it's a semifinal, more years on there, right, right,
So anyway, I'm sorry, didn't need TORP take me through
what it was like. And you know what, again, I
don't want to do the play by play, and I

(09:38):
am about seven I think I was about seven seconds
ahead of everybody in l a maybe seven to ten seconds.
I don't know how that always works out, but it does. Um,
and they had not uh jus Hang has missed the
shot but had got the rebound and put it back
up with about three seconds left, and Torres was talking
and I go, well, Aaron, the game's tied up now,

(09:58):
so it looks like they head in the double over time.
And I didn't describe exactly what Denzaga was doing because
I figured not that, but I'm also I'm also for
you know, I figured he's just gonna shoot it from
half court? Is that gonna be good? Good? I'm gonna say, okay,
we're going to double overtime. And as I'm waiting for
the last week seconds to take off, he shoots it.
I'm like, oh my good. I couldn't believe it. And

(10:19):
I wasn't sure if it counted, because um, you know
you're doing the show you're talking the angle eye had
on TV. I I couldn't see if the um the
light on the on the backboard lit up or not UM,
and certainly looked like a Ziga thought it was good
from the very beginning. I I wasn't sure, but when
they showed it again there was no doubt, so I
I was screaming. I didn't anybody know what happened? He read,

(10:41):
Oh my goodness, oh my goodness, you always always, but
what you're the kiss of death? And the funny thing
is right. And by the way, Boba was out tonight,
Ryan's running the show Leadal l app Our producer and
Steve de Sager coming up here in moments with an
update about twenty minutes from now. And by the way,
only Todd firming tonight on guest List. Everyone kind of

(11:01):
bailed out on us because of Eastern That's fine, Arnie
and I love to show almost cussed to shoot the
breeze whenever you get an opportunity. But the funny part is,
and I don't know, I don't know how this works.
I don't know what it is. But Arnie's TV feed
is always what you say, Nie, six seconds second, six
to seven seconds ahead of all of us, And I

(11:21):
don't know how it is. Either I don't know if
you've got bunny ears or or or are how you're
getting your feed. But the typical play by play call
is we're sitting, we'll be setting something up or and
again I don't want to say, play by plagues. I
don't want to get mad, but doing a watch along
while we're on the air is usually all right. So
it's second and to Falcons have the one all sud

(11:42):
I'll be like, oh no, and then that's all he'll say.
I'm like what, oh no, like what happens? And then
we get it seven seconds later, so yeah, really you've
lived that happened to? Oh yeah. In fact, last night
I was producing the show before Arnie, and you know,
the game went to overtime right as we were going
off the air and leading into Arnie, and so I
was watching overtime in the kitchen, which is twenty seconds delayed,

(12:03):
and Arnie, to his credit, was even able to spoil
it for me in the kitchen right as I'm watching it.
I hear Arnie reacting live on air. It's hilarious. Now,
so let's let's do this. Then I I hunted it down.
I want you to hear it. Both calls were incredible
from the hometown radio networks. They really were. And again

(12:26):
I don't know, I don't think you guys care about
this kind of inside baseball stuff. But Westwood One, whom
we have a great relationship with and they would tell
you this. They own the n C Double A tournament.
So usually with radio rights, you don't hear hometown calls.
You're they're streaming rules. There's there's all kinds of things
that are in place in the n C Double and
Westwood one of that's fine, and and and they make
all the cuts available to us, and it's great. But

(12:48):
a moment like this requires hearing from the hometown radio network. Right,
So before you get the thrill of victory, how about
Josh Lewin Tracy Murray and the agony of defeat? Sounded
like this? Maybe maybe maybe line Drive No gets his
own rebound stores off the glass. Three point three to

(13:10):
go here suggs at mid court to one a thirty
two footer. Oh my goodness, he baked it in. Gonzaga
has won the game. Wow, trying on your pillow. Unbelievable.
Sugs hit a runner bank shot going home. The Bruins

(13:31):
are going home. That little last the Bruins are going home. Wow.
Doesn't that just absolutely break your heart? It does it.
I've worked with Josh too in Dallas, so uh. He
did a show a couple of ships before me. We
worked for the same station. He's a great guy. I
love his play by play did the Rangers. But um, yeah,

(13:52):
that does break your heart. That's a harsh one. That
hurts it all right. Now, let's you want to do
the joy Uh let's see that's the agony of defeat.
Here is the thrill of victory. Gonzagas i MG Radio
Network broadcast Tommy Hudson and Adam Morrison. Yes that Adam
Morrison on the call of the rash leans in the runner,
comes up short to saying the rebounds and puts an

(14:14):
atward time at ninety three seconds. Leapt here sucks the
other way, pull up three for the wind, said the
championship game. They from forty of the buzzsgs wow, way
for a national championship. How they're just supposed to be objective.

(14:38):
I'm just no, no, no, that's the Gonzaga Radio Network
goes out the door. How about that? How about the
Sorry that was a little bit loud, Ryan off the top.
I didn't realize that it was going to be at
the hiks now death. Yeah, apologize everyone who can't hear
anymore than it was my call? Where was my call?
When we come back? When we come back? Does anyone

(15:00):
hold a candle to Arnie span yours final call when
this shot went down. Also, Arnie, there's as we mentioned,
there's a lot of non hoops topics that we need
to get into tonight. The All Star Game has been
pulled out of Atlanta. I got a funny story from
filling in for Jonas on Friday Night that I gotta
share about that. And and we're watching along for the

(15:22):
first time in on Arnie and Plank Sunday Night Baseball.
There on the top of the seventh the Angels lead
the White Sox and Otani put on his show We'll
get it all to you next on a busy Sunday
Night with Arnie and Plank on Fox Sports Radio. Fox

I forgot one thing. I forgot the most important thing
right off the top of the show. Aren't you Happy birthday? Dude?

(16:26):
Did you have it? Thank you very much? Birthday celebration yesterday,
eight years old. I'm getting up there. I'm going. I know,
you gotta start watching yourself. Ryan reminded me, WHOA, I
gotta be honest with it. I usually it's the only
reason I'm on Facebook is because they send you like
the birthday emails and I got I guess I didn't
get it, and so I completely forgot yesterday with your birthday.

(16:48):
I'm sorry. That's all right, that's all right. Happy belated
thirty eight man. That's great. I'm happy for you. That
means that you were doing one on one sports seven
seven seven to nine o seven when you were like
what twelve uh six six? Yeah, So I started early.
I did. I started early, alright, So so we played

(17:09):
the hometown calls, even though I blew Ryan's ear out.
We played u c l A. We played Gainzaga. But Arnie,
do you want to set the table for your call
last night with Aaron here on Fox Sports Radio where
we pick it up. But I think it's before Jus
gets the rebound and puts it back up in torres um.
I'm not sure what Torres says. Something he's talking about

(17:31):
that they're down by two, and I interrupt him to
let him go. Well, U c l A Is all
tied up with Gonzaga, and I don't want to say
how they tied it up. And I think I mentioned
three seconds left and and then I go ballistic after that,
give us a ten second delay? Here he worked so
far behind you. I'll tell you this. It's tied at
ninety with three seconds left. So it's gonna be is

(17:51):
that like, Oh my goodness, Oh my goodness. I don't
know if the game is over not. They're gonna have
to look at this again. Oh my goodness. Wait till
you guys catch up to me out of the room
before you Was that good? Did that count? I think
it did? Though, they'll have to take a look at

(18:12):
it again. Gonzaga between half court and and the three
point line through one up with time running out, it
went in. It looks like it's good a count. They'll
obviously have to look at this one again. Get Zaga
wins ninety, but they'll have to take a look at it.
Just do a double and triple check out this one.
Had they even seen it yet by that point? No,

(18:32):
though they had seen it. Um. When you hear Torres
about ten seconds, I think that's I think that's what
he's just picking it up there. Uh yeah, that's great.
I should be. Could you imagine somebody did play by
playing shell? Oh my good I didn't say what happened?
Oh my goodness, And you're what what would happen? You
big dope? You tell us what happened? I love it

(18:53):
as love. Oh my goodness. Well did you see I
intercept the pass and may go way up? Did they
get found a shot? What happened? Moron? Your professional play
by play guy? I mean you out a role with that, man,
Kudos to you. How could have send that in as
an audition? You know? You know me? I want to
be the voice of the Vegas Raiders some day. I

(19:14):
think you just over the top. Grip to me there
just hoping the Dodgers let me do a game or
two this year, so we'll see what happened, and Charlie
would be great. I think before we get Steve to
saying you're in here, let's ask one question about Monday Night.
I mean, this, there's what Baylor has done. I could
I could go from the historical perspective of where Baylor

(19:37):
was when Scott Drew took over. I think I even
surprised you last year whenever you realize that the dude
is one of the longest tenured coaches, not just in
the Big Twelve, but in college basketball period. I mean
he's been His first year at Baylor was two thousand
and three, so he's and in that first year they
were mess because of the disaster. It took place into

(19:57):
the eight Blisz era. Anyway, with all that said, there's
no doubt that there's more pressure on Gonzaga, right. I mean,
this is this is the team that has been number one,
that has been to this hill before, up this mountain before,
and have just fallen short. This might be the most
talented team. I mean if we're gonna play the game,
who's got more on their back? Who's got more pressure?

(20:19):
I mean it's Gonzaga, right, absolutely, and well with with
Gonzaga have more pressure. If they had one loss, UM,
then maybe it'd be even Um would they have more
pressure if they would have played Baylor earlier and had
they won or had they lost, But none of that happened.
So yeah, they got more pressure because they're undefeated. But
I mentioned this last night. If I'm Baylor UM coach Drew,

(20:41):
I'm getting my players together. I'm like, hey, uh, We're
going right at them the first minute of the game.
We're driving the ball down their throat. We're going to
see if they're emotionally ready to take us on um
because we're not wasting one second or forty minutes. They
better be ready from the tip off. Are they still
gonna be emotionally spent from the u c l A game.
Let's go find out. We're driving it right down the throat.

(21:02):
How does Gonzaga react of being pushed? You know, this
was this was one of the most incredible games that
we've seen in the Okay, I'll be a prisoner of
the moment in the history of college basketball, right, I mean,
who wants to fight about that tonight after last night?
But it was also it was also the first time

(21:23):
for Gonzaga that they played a game in which they
hadn't won by more than double digits since December second
Arnie of last year, obviously, So you know, how do
they handle being pushed? You know, there's a lot of
games where and maybe not necessarily in the tournament, but
there's a lot of games in the second half where

(21:43):
you know, they're stars are able to kind of watch
from the end of the bench and share on the
walk off, so go get a bucket. So I'm not
trying to I'm not trying to say it's gonna be
more difficult for them because it was a close game,
But they just haven't been in those situations a lot.
That's the reality of it. I'll tell you what if
you're we want to be critical. They had a seven
point lead um in the second half, and I thought

(22:05):
they were going to run away with that, and then
they had five lead I think we listed a minute
left and they went, uh was a juice that hit
the three pointer to bring so really should have maybe
ended the game and not and not got to the
point nature boys like you won't believe what happened? What
you catch up to be? That has to be the
best line this year. I'm not even sure what they

(22:26):
caught it. I don't Why is my TV seven to
ten seconds ahead of everybody else? I have no idea
why why it's like that. It's it's that. Uh, it's
it's the satellites, it's the East Coast by they give you, guys,
everything that's right right there, taking care of everyone on
the East Coast. All right, Well, we've got a lot
more to get you on the n C Double A
Tournament and obviously the National Championship Game tomorrow night. ARTI's

(22:49):
Arizona Wildcats were taken down by one. What the sager?
We're gonna go no updates for the whole show today,
but it's no updates Sunday, Steve. Steve's gonna have an
update on that. It's it's Masters week. We've got an
update on show. Ohtani who went out after a scary
looking slide, And yeah, I mean, it's it's a Sunday night,

(23:13):
and we're counting down the days in the NFL Draft,
so you bet we're gonna have some NFL Draft content
coming up, So hit us up at Plank show. That's
me on Twitter. Arnie is at Stinking Genius one. It's
his birthday show, if you will, his post birthday show.
So Annie's nurse and a hangover. Uh. And of course
everybody should be following us at Fox Sports Radio, and

(23:35):
everybody should be following Steve the Saga. He doesn't have Twitter.
He does. I'm gonna help the Sea do this update.
Oh gosh, I don't think the Saga wants your help?
Is yeah, he needs my help on this one. What's
going on? Steve? Steve and Arnie? You give the first score.
Stanford beat Arizona, but Arizona played dark, guts out. It
was one of the Arizona's America's team. What a great game.

(23:57):
Way to go ahead and have air zonas by one
on the last second shot the Stanford close That is,
Arizona missed the last second shot and lost fifty three
to Stanford. Did you see that defense on the last possession?
Though essentially triple teamed at one point, You should just

(24:20):
play back when Ernie said last night during those last
three seconds, that was almost the same. I mean, that
was not far off that was almost the same if
that had dropped for Arizona Wildcats shot from the floor.
Stanford is your national champion on the ladies side. This
was the first women's championship for the PAC twelve since
Stanford with this coach won the title. In fact, the

(24:43):
last time a team for the PAC twelve was even
in the title game, which just over a decade ago,
when Stanford lost a Yukon. Tonight's game was at the
Alamo Dome. Side of every game in this tournament from
the sweet sixteen through tonight, the entire women's n c
A tournament was played in the San Antonio area because
of the COVID ninet pandemic, just like the men's have
been playing all in Indiana, and the men's title game

(25:04):
is tomorrow night, number one ranking Zaga thirty one and
oh against Baylor, which dominated Houston in its semifinal last night.
We'll get to the NBA in a moment, but the
update on show Hey Otani as the Angels do lead
for three over the White Sox bottom of the seventh.
Otani was removed because of his pitching, not due to injury.
He is sore. He'll be checked out again tomorrow but

(25:25):
he was in a collision covering home and came out
in the fifth inning. Now he was batting second as
well as being the starting pitcher for the Halos tonight.
Otani in the top of the first through a hundred
one miles per hour. In fact, he had nine hundred
mile per hour pictures in this game. And then bottom
of the first he homer's and it goes about four
hundred fifty feet. It went a hundred fifteen miles per

(25:47):
hour off the bat. So in this very early baseball season,
he has the hardest pitches and the hardest hits, as
time by step. First time a picture's homeward in the
first inning, since uh, they came out with what a play? Okay,
now hold on, what are you talking about? Diving catch

(26:07):
in the White Sox game. I'm sorry, I just had
to give you a little arnie to make sure that
you far behind, are you? I'm in the bottom of
the seventh, I'm I'm watching on delay. The bottom of
the seventh. Mike trouts at first, Angels up four to three?
Had they sung the anthem? Yet it's four to three
and the seven. I'm not that far behind, I too,
I do remember sitting next to a guy in the

(26:29):
Dodger press box once while the Stanley Cup Final was
going and he had a bad connection on his laptop
and he was he was watching the streaming. By the
end of the game, he was he was literally like
eight to ten minutes behind anybody else in the press
box watching the game. It's like, don't tell me, it's
you know when the junior high when you kind of
cover your ears start singing your own song. It was

(26:51):
kind of like that. Love it anyway. Houston Astros are
now four and oh as they dominated Oakland again nine
to the final. The Astros first four and O start
in the last twenty years. In fact, they're the first
team in the Majors in almost twenty years since the
Yankees of two thousand three. Two In their first four
games of the season, score at least eight runs each time.
Nine too was the final, and this one Julie Gariel

(27:14):
three hits, including a two run double, Dodgers one again,
Arizona beat San Diego three to one, Phillies in Baltimore
each one again three and oh records for them, and
the update on the Nationals Tomorrow's game against the Braves
postponed due to COVID, but Washington season will start on Tuesday.
No new positives in their most recent round of testing.
The NAT's opening series against the Mets had been postponed.

(27:37):
In the late NBA game, it's Denver hosting and losing
to the Orlando Magic. It's eighty to sixty nine Magic
against Aaron Gordon, who's now with the Nuggets and has
twenty two points. Might be in a losing effort. Five
minutes to go in the third, New Orleans did not
have Zi and Williamson and Brandon Ingram again due to injuries.
So Lonzo Ball from three point range was eight a

(27:59):
f teen at seven points, and they wanted Houston to
one fifteen. Milwaukee gave Drew Holiday a four year extension
Jordan's speech when the Texas opened by two strokes. NASCAR
was off for Easter weekend. The next race is Saturday
night on FS one. Back to you, thanks a lot, Steve.
I decided that I'm not watching this baseball game anymore.

(28:19):
I don't even know where my feed is. Arnie, You're
You're in charge of updates from here on out. The
funniest part of Arnie's feed being so far ahead of
us is that. You know, there's a simple fix, right,
Everyone who's anyone has the ability to pause live TV.
They have these incredible creations called you know, trek TV.

(28:40):
Maybe even if you're watching on live sports who But
for some reason, you can't do that, right with you? No,
I can't do that at all. I can't know that
if if I just make it live, No, I have
to go to live. I can't watch ten minutes behind
everybody else. I can't do that. Well, I'm just saying,
you know, you could hit pause for like seven seconds
and then boom, you're on the same feed as all

(29:02):
of us. But I can't do that either, And too,
I'm in my office in my studio, and I don't
have that technology on this little TV have a little
flat screen yet yet the y'all he just like a
broadcast to the world, But I can't go And I can.
I could broadcast to the entire planet, but I but
I can't pause my TV. Bunny, I laughed uncontrollably at

(29:26):
this one. Jamie writes, the reason Arenie is ten seconds
ahead is because of the time difference. And then I
like this from Nature Boy, aren't you the King of
early feed spoilers. The rest of the crew just can't
handle it. You should have yelled, OMG, the ref made
the worst call in the history. Could you imagine Torres

(29:48):
thought I was kidding around with something. I don't even
know if that's when Torres found out what happened. He
might have been just kidding around when when he thought
I was kidding around, he had no idea what was happening.
That is one thing you could do, is you could
on the layout how incredible a moment was. All Right,
so we're rolling through these tweets, let's do it. It's stinkingenius.
One is Arnie. I'm a playing show. Everybody should be
following us at Fox Sports Radio. Matt's Matt's got our

(30:10):
back here rights tell whoever was whining about the show
last night to shut it. That was such an amazing
game with an even greater finish. I was intrigued with
the discussion all show, just despite him. You should talk
only about the Women's final the whole show. Yeah, I
don't think that everything's gonna like that, though I did
enjoy the Women's Final. Did you think I said to

(30:32):
this before the show? We talked about this last night
did you think Morrison's tweet was a shot at uh
the u c l A fan? Well, of course it
was a shot at the u c A fans, was
it not? Or what? Um? Oh my gosh he tweeted out, Um, yeah,
how about this now? Yeah about I'm crying now, but
it's yeah, yeah, I think I think that was absolutely
a shot. And that was in the whole mindset of

(30:53):
having his play by play call out there. You know what.
It's funny because I hadn't really thought about that moment
too terribly much, Arnie, until late in that game last night. Right,
we had talked about I think you and I have
when we would talk about Gonzaga. I pull up all
the old drafts and we're like, man, Gonzaga has only
had one player who was a one and done, uh

(31:15):
and that was like four or five years ago. They've
only had one time when you had two players go
in the first round. And you think about the only
true rock star that they had. You know this, and
no no offense, Kelly Oldnick or any of those guys
are Ronnie Terry off But Adam Morrison was a rock star.
You know. He's who we all knew. And I I
had completely forgotten about the way that game finished, and

(31:37):
I thought, I thought CBS did a fantastic job in
the coverage last night, and just finding the right time
to pop that in. It's like, oh, oh damn, that's right.
I forgot about that, And it was U c l A.
And if I'm not mistaken, it was Gonzaga was considered
to be the favorite. I think they were the one
overall seed heading into the tournament. And you just well

(31:57):
played on the drama, right, Arnie, Because even though even
though Adam Morrison gets the last laugh, now that moment
was one of the more we all still loved gonzag
and everything about him. They hadn't become an evil genius
like Mark Few suddenly as in some people's mind. Right,
They're still lovable, So kudos to CBS for playing that
in last night. All right, Um, you want a couple

(32:18):
of others here on the game last night? U c
l A. Dodger, I'm sorry U c l A is
relevant again. Dodger Frank writes, we just had one of
the greatest college basketball games in history last night, and
some listeners wanted Areny to talk about which NBA teams
are laying the biggest Easter eggs this season. Get out
of here. Uh And then Frank added there may not

(32:40):
be any U c l A players who are hated,
but Mick Cronin is polarizing at least from the Cincinnati
fans viewpoints. But I can imagine they're they're probably kicking themselves,
especially within the Cincinnati coached. The recent one was put
on some um double secret probation or something like that. Yeah, yeah,
you're absolutely right. I I could not I couldn't fathom.

(33:02):
Now whenever you watch well, now, listen, I'm not gonna
try to compare this to Chris Beard leaving Tech and
going to Texas. That's a little bit of a different world.
But Arnie, whenever you see the guy that just left
and you're celebrating it, right, it's like, good, get him
out of here. He had reached his ceiling. And then
you watch that guy and he takes a team to

(33:22):
the Final four. Yeah, that's gotta suck for Cincinnati fans.
By the way, I have think I was speak about
taking the team to the Final four. I'm keeping my
eye on this when I'm hoping Steph Curry leaves the Warriors.
No disrespect to the Warrior fans out there and and
goes to the Lakers. That's very important for me. I see,
I see what you just did there. And then one

(33:43):
way you know why. The reason why is that when
he Steve Kurt will say I'm done with you, I'm
gonna retire and do soon and I'm gonna coach the
men's team and boom, there you go. That's all we need.
And then one more quick when Paul writes, this is
the first team sport warning event. I think since the
Auburn kicks six that has dominated the news shows the

(34:06):
following days, I think it's okay for a sports show
to cover it for three hours. And then he hadded,
this isn't get up. You guys can cover any topics
besides how the Cowboys and Patriots offseason is going. Every
single It wasn't even it wasn't three hours because it
happened about twenty or twenty five past the hours, so
it was only two and a half hours. And I mean,

(34:27):
you gotta do it at least the first half hour,
the first hour and a half, don't d after after
that game, Oh my gosh, I I have I feel
like I've been on radio too much over the last
forty hours. But Artie, I can't get enough of talking
about this game. That's how fantastic it was. All Right,
when we come back, let's dive into the latest on
the Deshaun Watson Saga already will continue his expert analysis

(34:48):
on the national championship game with Stanford winning the women's title,
and we'll continue our preview of Baylor Gonzaga what we've
all waited for in college basketball? Next on Fox Sports Radio,
it Johnny and Plank on the Fox Sports Sunday Fox
Sports Radio. We're living through your tweets tonight at Stinking
Genius One at Plank Show. Everyone should be following us

(35:11):
at Fox Sports Radio. I thought you were gonna give
you a lot of grief because of where I'm finishing
in the Fox Sports Radio I need uh, I haven't
even looked where we are. I'm in fourth place? Are
you really? Yeah? Even after picking St. Pona Venture to
go to the Final four? Well, I picked every other game, right,
did you really? I'm in fourth place? I'm embarrassed by it, though,

(35:31):
Why are you embarrassed by fourth? I get hired for
this stuff, but my expertise and my good looks were
the two reasons I got hired for this job. And um,
I always get my good let's stop it. And I
you know, I usually win all the I won the
NBA off. I usually win all these office pools. And
I'm here from my expertise so that I feel bad
about that. I love you. But you didn't win the

(35:52):
NBA one that was close. I don't think you even
entered it, did you. Whichever one I did enter, I
one usually I'm not allowed to. They banned me from
one of them. I forgot which one it was. You
were not You were not banned. I think you just
procrastinated on the email, is what I think you did.

(36:13):
I can't for some reason, I can't. Oh, here we go. Um,
I gotta log in here and see where you are
right now. I feel I'm buying Clay Travis, so I should.
I'm really embarrassed, and I'm behind t Ja tet. You
to know this. He's a football player, right right. He
played in the He's only up there because he played
for Oregon State, and he picked Oregon State probably to
go all then. No, he didn't a pair. I mean,

(36:34):
do you not ever read the ball? The emails? It's
Goot Shapiro saying every one of them. I read everyone.
Why what did he said? Wait? Hold on you? Aaron
Torres is now leading us all beat him? If if
Gonzaga wins, I'll finish third. Oh will you? All right?
So your top five, you're ahead of t J oh

(36:57):
Am I okay, yeah. On my standings, Torres is one,
followed by Bernie Fratto. Then there's Clay Travis Marny and
t J. T J. Who's your daddy? Are tied uh
the fourth place. But whatever, I'm currently in place this year,

(37:19):
I think, uh, there's eight. Well, Rob Parker's down there.
I'm gonna miss him. I gotta tell you something. I'm
really mad at myself. I told you this. I'm never
listening to the college basketball experts again because they were
the ones that told me about the greatness of the
Yukon I mean that's all I heard, the greatness of

(37:41):
ka the Yukon Huskies. They're the best team heading into
the n c Double A Tournament. They've got they're out
the first round. I thought you, I thought, oh my gosh,
here we go. Um, I'm gonna have a team that's
gonna end up getting it done. Nope, No, not even close.
We had a women's contest, I probably would have wanted Also,

(38:03):
I think you probably would have because you were I've
said this a lot. I've said this a lot, and
I'm not joking. But if if this would have been
a run like this for U c l A and say, oh,
I don't know Arnie nineteen nine, that's whenever I was
at the height of my U c l A fandom,

(38:24):
I would have picked him to the National Championship game regardless,
and then I would have been winning. Then my job
wouldn't be on the line right now. They wouldn't be.
Is there is there any chance? Is there any chance
that Illinois could still come back and end up playing
tomorrow night? What a disappointment? Huh? What a disappointment they
were in the tournament? Yeah. Anyway, you can check your

(38:46):
bracket out right now at Fox sports radio dot com.
That's Fox Sports Radio dot com. Um. You can see
that Arnie is currently sitting right now tied for fourth
place and p J who should Menzada uh Andrew C
has taken over the lead on the listeners side of things,

(39:07):
followed by Joel A and CLAYP. So check that top three,
they do fire me. I think I don't think that
you're really in that much of a of a perilous situation,
as you've kind of laid it out. I think you're
gonna be okay here on, Yeah, I really do. All right,
let's get a couple more tweets. By the way, breaking
news tonight, Sho Tani left the game. You heard the

(39:28):
sayre talk about it at the bottom of the hour.
But it looks like he's okay that based on the
report on TV. So not only is it great for Atani,
it's great for the Angels, he's great for baseball. I
agree with all of that, but there was a note
I think it bears kind of digging into a little
bit deeper by the sports Stock pro football doc Dr

(39:52):
Chow that said it looks to be a left high
ankle spring, so he's worried that there may be some
time missed for show. Hey, Otani, but I'm not gonna
pretend like I'm sitting here watching Sunday Night Baseball, Arnie.
I'm just well, you already buried the lead you and
the saga when I gave you the great stuff that
nobody no pictures at the homeward in the first inning
since we've had the d H she just kind of

(40:14):
brushed over that. Um, I'm even surprised we've had pictures
get home runs in the first inning. I guess obviously
most of them have to be National League I guess,
But yeah, I I honestly think, to be honest with you,
that we've seen it so many times on Twitter already
tonight that we're tired of the stupid picture hitting a
home run in the lead off spot or the second spot,

(40:34):
in the first sitting whatever. Done with it, Arnie done.
It was a great note. Kudos to you for coming
up with a note, and but can I throw one
more note out there? And we've only got a minute
left in this hour? Will you people stop aggregating that
poor soul that gets knocked a bleep out at Walmart
and saying it's Bruce Campbell. It's not the former Raider bust.

(40:58):
The dude has enough on his play. Can you imagine that,
I'm like that guy, can't fight boy, I don't know
what he's trying to throw it out where you can't
throw away. I can take that guy. Can you imagine
Bruce Campbell's sitting at home, probably enjoying easter. He's rich.
I watched him play, so I'm sure he's eating a lot.
And then lo and behold, your phone just blows up

(41:20):
because somebody decided to have you as a guy that
just got knocked out in Walmart. Have your fun with it,
Charger fans, Bronco fans, Chief fans. It's not Bruce Campbell.
The Maryland alone is probably enjoying Easter. All right. When
we come back, I've got some football to get to.
We've got Todd Ferman buy or selling Arnie's picks. You

(41:43):
got not them. It's been a good hour talking about
last night's finished between U C. L A and Gonzaga.
Now we start looking forward to the national championship matchup.
I guess we can say tonight on the East Coast right,
pushing past midnight Gonzaga and Baylor. Though, can I be

(42:04):
really old man for a second Eastern tip? Not liking that,
but it's two hours eleven thirty, not all that late, though.
Here's here's uh. If they tip off by tomorrow night,
I'll put my job so I'll pull an Artie Spaniard

(42:25):
if if that, if that happens, I'll be the most shocked. Aman, Well,
we gotta wait for all the West Coast knuckleheads to
get home, even though they don't work on the West coast. Um, yeah,
that's true, But but I who This is my question,
who are we catering to anymore with our start times?
Who's the most important market? Because nine out of ten

(42:46):
times i've I feel like we should be catering to
the East Coast right. Um, the West Coast always kind
of gets hosed in all of this. I feel like
in the Central time zone, God's time on the way
it should be. Everything's about normal. But when you're tipping
off at and people talk about growing the game, you know,

(43:08):
my kids are in bed. I'm not letting them stay
up to watch this. Um, And I think that's a
majority of people and listen, not so much for me.
I'm gonna stay up and watch it. It's my job
and I love it. I keep saying, excuse me, but
who are we actually trying to cater to anymore with
these start times. That's that's my over analyzation of TV

(43:29):
ratings and start times, because it doesn't make any sense
to me that you'd start that late. We've been complaining
about start times for what forty years back when we
were kids and beer, why are they playing baseball in
the middle of the day in school? But you know
that was actually greater. We'd paid more attention to paying
attention to the teacher. We you know, bringing your transistor
radio and stuff like that. Just hear what was going on.

(43:50):
I thought you were turning thirty eight. I don't think
you'd have to worry about transition. That's what somebody told me.
Somebody told me. That's why I'm at that, all right.
So we we got a lot to get too, still
for the n C Double a tournament by her Cell
coming up to kick off our number three, it makes
it's a triumphant return here on Fox Sports right now,
and I'm excited about that. Plus we'll go in depth

(44:11):
on the matchup. But I like this nature boy hit
us up another classic line yesterday by Charles Barkley when
he answered the question that was asked, what do you
think they're saying in the Houston locker room at halftime?
Barkley answered, what time do we leave tomorrow? I've like,
you know what, I don't get it sometimes how they
used to have the two desks. It's like, all right,

(44:32):
here's twenty minutes of analysts insight from Wally Zerbiak and
Clark Kellogg and Seth Davis. Let's go to the other
desk for more. And I'm like, how would you more
analysis do we need on this damn game? But I
will say, Alrenie, one of the coolest things they've done.
I think it's putting the NBA crew on these college
basketball games. It gives a different perspective. They're a little

(44:53):
bit more. They've got better chemistry than some guys who
are trying to shoehorn. And I've kind of dug having
Charles Barkley, even though I'm still trying to figure out
what he was talking about was with his Jimmy and
Joe's thing yesterday. I you know what, I enjoy it
too when he says stuff like that. He gets his laughing,
but he's not breaking it down like you know what
Seth Davids and those type of guys are breaking it

(45:13):
down there college basketball gurus. That's actually really good point.
You're getting that analysis from guys who have lived the
game all year long. Here's a point that I'd be
curious to get all of y'all's take on Johnny be good. Right,
they should have fiftcent capacity for the game tomorrow in
Indianapolis for the which, by the way, if they're in

(45:41):
and you're not in a basketball arena, you're in a
bleeping dome with plenty of space. And again, I know
we're getting to the point where more and more people
are getting vaccinated. Numbers appear to be going down a
lesser of Vancouver Knack or Washington National. What a hundred thousands, right,

(46:02):
I don't think their capacity is a hundred thousand. I
think they they drape it off. I think it's more
like sixty. Here's where I think it is. Even that
still pretty big. I'm kind of with them now. I
don't know if suddenly that would lead to mass numbers
at the attendance gates. Uh. And I'm not gonna pretend
to be doctor Fauci here or anything, but I mean,
let's go Why not late though, because they're like, I mean,

(46:25):
what if people can fly from Spokane, UM to Indiana.
It's a little too late to go ahead and and
try to go and pack the arena like that. I
I said, I said this. I think it was maybe
on Friday Night on Jonas Show, But I honestly think Arnie.
One of the things that had made last night a
little bit more special obviously than I didn't say it
on Jonas Show if it was last night. One of

(46:46):
the things that made last night a little bit more
special was the fact that it was maybe the last
event that we don't have to end and through the
baseball season. I'm talking about championship settings were we might
not be talking about attendance capacities right in every conversation
that we have about NFL, maybe even thinking about the

(47:08):
postseason in baseball, we're not talking fifty percent. We're talking
about full stadiums, We're talking about full arenas. So maybe
part of what made last night even more special was
it may have been one of the few times where
we are kind of stuck at home watching it and
we're not at a watch party or something of that
intry because I feel sooner rather than later, we're gonna

(47:29):
be getting to these packed stadiums that you want to
add something of that to say, I'm sorry. I looked
up the last time the Cold Stadium hosted the final
for Duke beat Wisconsin, and attendance was listed at Keep
in mind the layout this year is not that because
they had two courts, one in each end zone essentially,
and they could therefore have in fury less lag time

(47:53):
between although if you want lag time, just watched the
Final four last night? Would we go an hour and
a half between games? And you're about I agree you're
complaining about tomorrow night. I looked it up in the
TV guide. It's it's yeah, supposed to be a nine
twenty eastern tip for the final. That's so they can
not only have the twenty minute pregame show, but they
also have a half hour Championship Central, so it's a

(48:16):
fifty minute pregame show and then at eight eastern they
can have you know, some sort of sitcom something to
get ratings as a as a lead in before something
that usually does good ratings. The National Championship Game by
my nature Boy says, if Plank is worried about the
n c A start time, you can always tell them
the results with your advanced fee. Can I call you?

(48:39):
Can I call you tomorrow night? And better yet, we
should just have that listener in Australia tell us because
it's already Monday. That's right, it's already happened. I don't
I don't know why we're Why don't we call him
and just bet everything on it? Yeah, but it's gonna
be fun tomorrow night because here's here's a unique side.
This is it's a rarity. I don't know why I'm

(49:00):
getting waxing poetically about the stamn college basketball game tomorrow night,
But here we go, aren'tie. We finally have what we
all predicted was going to happen in the preseason play out.
This is what everyone thought was going to happen with
the national championship perfect storm. Not only did the one
and the two workout where they were number one and
number two in the country, it also worked out that
the game between the two of them got canceled, so
it's not a repeat of of any earlier game and

(49:22):
nobody has the advantage. So you couldn't have wrote a
better script for that. I believe guys. That was a
CBS game in Indianapolis, first Saturday in December where it
was supposed to be number one against number two Baylors
and it was canceled the day of Wait, that's that
wasn't in Jerry's world or anything like that. I thought
it was in Dallas. Yeah, I don't remember yeah, no,

(49:43):
the Paul Bills Bobby said, the East Coast has eighteen
million people, West coast fifty three million. It makes no
sense the way these TV networks make people east of
the Mississippi wait for the games to start. I gotta
go back to that pause between games is the first
with the two teams being yeah, and well, I guess

(50:03):
Waco is not the West coast central times on the
west of the Mississippi. But I think it's kind of funny, disagreed,
because you hit on something last night that didn't even
register until let's see, the the Baylor Houston game was over.
We did dinner. I think we went to a church service,
and we came back in the game still hadn't tipped off.
And I mean, I'll be honest, Artie, if you're in

(50:25):
the middle of like a baseball series, right and you
gotta play two games, you got a drag the field,
maybe you might get some weather. It's a max thirty
minutes between games. The hell are we doing with that
much time between games? I thought it had something to
do with cleaning protocol. Okay, okay, okay, all right, I
don't know. I'm not sure. I thought I had read
that somewhere. It could be another reason. I didn't know why,

(50:47):
so I was looking that up, and I thought somewhere
on Twitter somebody said that they have extra cleaning protocols
between games. But that could be because you're not Jerry.
Locker rooms are um stuff like that. I don't know
why it's so long. That's crazy. Oh and uh Leoni's
kind of magnified dis because I was, I was laughing.
I think I knew the point that Charles Barkley was

(51:07):
trying to make deering. I think it was one of
the halftime shows he said. Barkley was quoting the old
college football coaches like, it ain't about the x is
in and ohs, it's about the Jimmy and the jo's
in other words, if you don't have the players, the
plan doesn't matter. Yeah, but I think he kind of
boughts the analogy, if I'm not mistaken, kept repeating and
kept repeating it over and over. So thank you Leonis

(51:28):
for the clarification. All right, listen, Todd Ferman's coming up
here in just a bit. We got much more on
this game tomorrow night between Baylor and Gonzaga and Arnie.
I guess I need to brush up on my legal
ease a little bit, because in the latest twist and
turn in the DeShawn Watson saga, I mean his his
attorney is really celebrating the fact that the police are

(51:52):
now involved, Rusty Harden saying, well, it's a long overdue development.
I mean, I gotta be honest with you. When it's
just a civil suit, that's one thing, right, and you're
dealing with you're dealing with the potential to have to
have to pay damages. Um, this becomes a legal issue now.
I don't am I losing my mind? Am I going crazy? Here?

(52:12):
Do I need to watch more law in order that
If an attorney is saying we welcome this potential filing
of charges, that's crazy talk, right, Oh, unless they know
something that is the police are going to find that
says we're not going to continue with the investigation. I
find that hard to believe. Though, like you said, we
find out that there's about what thirty nine or forty

(52:33):
different masseus is UM and what half of them are
filing or um have a criminal or civil complaint, It's uh, Look,
I don't know how he's ever going to overcome something
like this. I know you're innocent until proven guilty, but um,
you know you're talking about one guy's word and twenty
uh women the other way, and then I guess you

(52:55):
got twenty women on Deshaun Watson's side. I am. I'm
curious to see what the NFL is going to end
up doing it if he gets that six game suspension
or maybe something longer. Um that they gave Ezekiel Elliott.
There's so many things about this that are concerning, right.
And it was funny because I I go back to

(53:15):
even last week whenever we talked about this, and I
was still in the you just move on from him.
I think it's time to make a move if if
you want to Philly wants a quarterback. I don't think
you're at damaged goods yet, but if you let him
get on that Commissioner's exempt list, then you're then you
may have an issue trying to move him. But I
also you still have to pay him on that list
to sure. Sure. Absolutely, But you know with when Tony Buzzby,

(53:38):
that's the attorney for the accusers who have basically brought
this claim forward, when they said they won't submit evidence,
I was always concerned because you brought up that number
last week. You said, uh, it's like twenty, who aren't you.
We gotta be careful saying that number, and then lo
and behold, by the time we get to the following Sunday,
what a way, we're like thirty five that could be

(54:00):
in this mix. Right, So, whenever you hear that the
Houston Police Department as had happened on Friday, today a
complaint a complaint file the report with the Houston Police
Department concerning DeShawn Watson. As with any allegation, The Houston
Police Department is now conducting an investigation and will not
comment further during the investigative process. I don't know about you, Arnie,

(54:20):
but I don't think I'm walking around going yes, high five.
But you might be onto something here. Maybe Rusty Harden
and Deshaun Watson now can put a name with the accuser,
and maybe that's something that I don't know. You start
in the unfortunate reality of it is they'll start assassinating
that character. I'm not in a true murder way, but

(54:42):
just trying to find as much dirt as they can.
That's the reality of an unfortunate situation like this. But
I almost feel bad asking football questions right now with
how ugly this is getting. I really do Look again,
we don't know how it's going to turn out. I said,
maybe I don't think this guy could ever work, you know,
play on a football field again, when you have twenty
women accusing him of something like this. Uh, if he's

(55:04):
found guilty, what happens? Is he gonna do jail time?
I mean I I can't imagine him on being unscathed
and somebody saying, oh, that's okay, twenty convictions, but we'll
still use him as our quarterback. I I just don't
know how that how we survived something like this. When
we come back, we'll ask Todd Ferman what he thinks
is the next step for de Shaun Watson or the

(55:26):
Houston Texans. But this story seems like it's far from over.
And now with the HPD, the Houston Police Department involved,
it's gonna be very interesting to see which direction this goes.
Uh do do we find out that buzzbys bluffing a
bit and that there's not quite the amount of evidence
there is as he claims there is, or do we

(55:46):
find out as already brought it up. We might be
looking at DeShawn Watson sitting out some time. Well, you're
not like about the women though, the amount of women.
He's got to be truthful. What you can't be He
could be truthful, but again when he whenever, he keeps
adding no brids to it in those those civil cakeses
haven't been filed yet, Arenie. That's that's when you're looking at. Okay,

(56:06):
what is going on here? So we'll dive into it all.
I'm a professional attorney here, Okay, so I don't know.
I watched a lot of law in order people. I
know what's going on here, and our man in Vegas
will help give us some perspective. Next on Fox Sports Radio,
it's Arnie and Plank. Sorry sorry sorry fall start Arnie
and Plank Fox Sports Radio on a Sunday night into
a Monday morning, and we are joined by our man,

(56:29):
Todd Ferman back after week off in Vegas. Todd, real quick,
we're gonna talk a lot about the n C Double
A Tournament. My mind is always on football though, and
I just wanted to carry over from last segment. We
were talking about Deshaun Watson. Now you have the Houston
Police Department looking into it. What do you what do
you think the next step is for the NFL? Do
they put them on the exemp list? Do they wait
for it to play out to the Texas make a move?

(56:51):
What do you see next in this saga? Todd? I
think with the NFL, knowing that they have times before
O t A camp and everything else will start to
take place, they can moral us let the legal process,
or is the beginning of it, start to run its course,
rather than being proactive and putting him on the exemple list.
I don't think the Texans are obviously gonna find a
suitable trade partner by any stretch of the imagination at

(57:11):
this juncture. So it's wait and see. Uh. And like
we said the whole time, you just hope the truth
comes out whatever it may be, all right, Todd, n
C Double A Tournament. I'm curious, um, during the course
of the year, do people when they bet who's gonna win,
let's say, even when the season starts, are they betting
Gonzaga all through the year eight to one, six to one,
four to one, two to one, minus one fifty all

(57:33):
the way up into the championship game? Or are they
taking some of the log shots. Are the book's gonna
get collaborative Denzago wins or what it doesn't appear, they're
gonna have a ton of liability. I obviously already can't
speak for everyone in the space. I'm sure there's a
book or two out there that may find themselves back
into a corner. But when you have the favorite more
or less go box to wire, it's every bookmaker's job
to stay ahead of that curve and try and create

(57:55):
other appetizing prices, whether it be on Michigan at some
point in the year, Baylor, Illinois, you name it. I
think Baylor's price was so short throughout the course of
the season that it gave most of them an opportunity
to stay ahead. These are the two teams coming into
the year that are preseason number one and number two,
so no surprises. Any bookmaker worth his or her salt
should have been able to stay ahead of it and

(58:15):
create profitable scenarios having the favorites working in their favor.
What was it like last night, Todd in Vegas when
that half court shot was banked in? You know, I
had a chance to speak to some of my former
colleagues behind the counter, and what's interesting about it obviously
it elicts. It's a huge reaction in the sports book.
But that's what's interesting, Chris, because nothing changed hands in
terms of gambling impact. The old game had already gone

(58:38):
in over the total. U c l A was never
in jeopardy of covering as a fourteen point or of
course you have a little bit of money line action,
but there's not a ton when you have a good
ZAGGA team that's a one to twelve favorite, or U
c l A at seven to one attracting you know,
ten and twenty dollar bets. But they said it was
a great atmosphere throughout, and uh, you know, inevitably there's
going to be folks more so fans than better. Is
a little bit disappointed in the way that game went.

(58:59):
And I think if you bleed U c l A
Gold and Baby Blue, you have to go. If we
played of other teams in the country last night, we
find ourselves in the National Championship, dag. It was just
that much better on the offensive end when they needed
to be. Todd, I'm not talking about in game, but um,
when the game went in overtime, could you have run
up to the window and make another better They don't
take bets for overtime. No, they will take bets on overtime.

(59:22):
Gonzaga going into the extra period was a two and
a half point favorite, about a dollar fifty dollar sixty
on the money line. So for those folks that did
lay the two and a half, of course challenge, getting
the three from forty plus feed out pays dividends. Gonzaga
when you look at the live line and the way
that game traded throughout was right around plus a dollar
ten when they trailed by one or two points with
under four minutes to go, So you did have a

(59:43):
chance to get them as a slight underdog. But again,
this was a team that I think all of us
had questions how they would handle uh when the team
landed a haymaker for me, they went out and exceeded expectations.
They played the same brand of basketball we've seen for
the thirty plus games leading up to it, and we'll
see exactly what kind wrinkle Scotch Chewin Company can throw
their way in the National Championship tomorrow night. So if

(01:00:04):
it's so fascinated by this matchup, it's rare whenever the
two teams that we've talked about playing each other for
a title at the beginning of the season, and now,
I guess what almost two seasons actually end up getting
that opportunity. Todd, what's your early hunch? What kind of
game are we gonna get? Who you on right now?
You know, honestly, this number at four and a half,
I think is perfect. It's not a cop out. We

(01:00:25):
kind of broke the game down in great detail on
our at the Board podcast for the Final four and
thought six felt a little bit rich. A lot of
the mass guys that do our work with us made
this number a shade shorter, and you saw two disparate results.
Baylor go out there and dominate a Houston team to
the tune of nearly a twenty point victory. Gonzaga slipped
by as a four team point favorite. So the market
settles right in the middle. I think there's a little

(01:00:47):
bit of wiggle room to go under the total, honestly,
And while that'll surprise some folks, when you look at
Baylor offensive efficiency wise, I mean, this team is number
two in the country taking on the team that's number one.
But Baylor, throughout the course of Big Twelve playing, you
saw these games, Chris, they weren't afraid to play in
the half court, and I really believe they go up
and down the court. With Gonzaga, the Bulldogs have more
scores and it's going to be contingent on Baylor being

(01:01:09):
able to make shots from deep. Now we've seen them
do it, best shooting team in the country from beyond
the ark, but I think for them to win a
national championship, we're talking about ten to twelve made threes.
And if you want to try and play a game
in the eighties, Mark Few and company will not hesitate
to back down. Todd, I don't know if you have
the answer for this. Do you remember what the line
would have been um in the first Baylor Gonzaga games

(01:01:29):
that wasn't canceled to the morning off right? I thought
we had it last night, but I don't remember off
the top of my head. You know it was very similar, Arnie.
I think for that game, Gonzaga was right around the
three and a half four point favor for the regular
season meeting that we never had a chance to see.
But as it's gone to show, good things come to
those who wait, and will finally get these two teams
to do battle with a heck of a lot more
at stake now that we would have seen in December

(01:01:52):
before Gonzaga has shut things down to the short COVID break.
Are you gonna get more bets now because the first
game was canceled or would you've gotten more bets if
this was round. I don't think it'll really have any
impact on the handle um. To be quite honest, I
will say that I'm not sure what this game will
do as far as generating betting interest Gonzaga. Of course
a big storyline Baylor being as good as they are

(01:02:13):
is one thing, but it's still not a Kentucky duke
or that national brand. So I don't want to throw
a wet blanket on what I think the numbers could
be for tomorrow. But people projecting record handle and we
know sports betting is growing. Sure a lot of these
states that haven't had sports betting in the past will benefit,
but I'm not sure this breaks all sorts of records
here in the state of Nevada. By the way, did
you get any money on Arizona tonight? On the women's

(01:02:33):
game tonight or what you know? Thirty to one already
coming into the final four for the Lady wildcast and
what a hell of an effort they put forth that number.
They were a nine point dog, gets bet down to
seven and a half. A little bit curious in terms
of what they elected to run with the game on
the line, laid not exactly the shot they drew up.
I'm more disgruntled because I had a future on South
Carolina coming into the final four at eleven one, and

(01:02:55):
really thought they had an excellent chance as time expired
to get a buzzer beater, and I think they would
have gone out there and taking care of business against
the Wildcats a little more effectively than standard. Jeez. All right,
So Todd, I got asked, were you surprised last night
with how offensive that first half was? And I don't
mean that in a bad way. I mean scoring buckets,
because I thought the first half under was the way

(01:03:16):
to go. Oh my gosh, I mean we were. We
were on almost a hundred point pace between those two
teams at halftime. Well, it's coming from someone who had
a first half under and Houston who had a heartbroken
with the three with about four seconds to go after
a seven point explosion in the final fifty one seconds.
I actually had a small piece of the over in
the Gonzaga u c L A game, full game. But

(01:03:37):
the one thing about it that's pretty wild is I
don't think pace and tempo suggested that game should have
gone over the total. You know, if you normalize the
box scores and look at it, I mean U c
L A one point two points per possession, Gonzag at
one point to six. So even as a ficient as
Gonzaga has been, that was right on par with their
season average. U c L A well above that. They've
been efficient. And you look at how good these teams

(01:03:58):
were shooting the basketball from inside the arc. Zags thirty
forty two, u c L A forty two. It's hard
for a game to stay under when teams don't miss shot.
Any props for the game, you know, like, is Gonzaga
to score first? I guess you gotta take Gonzaga as
they get the inside bucket. I don't know my overthinking it.
Give me, give me some props there which could bet

(01:04:20):
on there. Of course those props. Gonzaga is a dollar
twenty five favorite to be the first team to get
to ten points, and they're a dollar thirty five favorite
to be the first team to get the thirty points.
I think when you look at the actual xs and
os basketball wise, you're talking about Gonzaga over under six
and a half made the reason the game, Baylor eight
and a half shaded to the under the other one.

(01:04:40):
That's fascinating, Artie, because I know you're a quote unquote
value seekers made bucket of the game. Will it be
a two point minus two eighty? Will it be a
three pointer plus two forty? I figure you're all over
the three pointer with those odds to forty. I'll take
some of that. So I do think um Bey was
going to try to pound it early in and see
if Gonzaga is ready for the for the action. Yeah,

(01:05:02):
I mean when you look at Baylor, I mean they
don't have a ton of reliable interior scoring, so it'll
be interesting if they can get guys like Mayor and
Flaggler all to contribute. I think this is a game
where Scott Drew is really going to be tested because
a player like Mark Vital, who gives you that physicality inside,
just doesn't gift it offensively enough. So I'm very intrigued
to see how this game starts early on, and if

(01:05:24):
Baylor's banging threes right from the get go, we'll have
game on. But if those shots aren't falling, would not
be shocked if Gonzaga responds with a pretty strong start,
knowing they can beat you both from the inside and
of course from the outside with those talented guards. That
was a very kind way to describe Idol's game make
somewhat challenge. Well done, Todd. All right, buddy, we'll have
fun to the National Championship game tomorrow night. Can't wait

(01:05:46):
to recap it with you next week, and we'll get
it to all those draft props next Sunday night. Man,
I can't wear it down. Definitely looking forward to it.
And Chris, keep in mind, you know, if you ever
want to make your way out to the desert, I
might need an introduction to our special assistant for the
UNLV rebels more than happy to get Lon Krueger home
to be an assistant to his son, Kevin his head.
You love it. I got your back, man, Thanks, Sad,

(01:06:07):
We'll talk to you soon, Bud. All right, man. By
the way, that's a really good point that I haven't
thought of. I now have an in I forgot. Kevin
Krueger's a head coach at U and l V and
Pops is going to be out there quite a bit.
Even answer me when I say congratulations for your new coach.
By the way, Yeah, the the congratulations was congratulations on
your new coach. What hopefully you guys can get back

(01:06:29):
to relevancy soon or something of that name. Trying to
you that's not nice. Well, I'm not going to be nice,
but I'm trying trying, yeah, says Steve de Sager comes
strolling in to get us caught up on everything. Yeah. Literally,
the text to congratulate the Sooners on hiring uh, hiring
their new head basketball coach, but Porter Moser, thank you

(01:06:52):
was uh yeah, um, congratulations on on Moser. Maybe you'll
be relevant again. I don't think we needed this sentence.
I'm not good at being nice. I don't think we've
known anybody who's listened to the show for a reason.
You need practice, by the way, as we had toward
Baylor Gonzago tomorrow nights. Keep in mind Baylor, right before

(01:07:15):
the n c A tournament started, they had, on the
one hand, finished in the regular season. They had a
top twenty matchup with a Blitz Texas Tech. Mac Ot
in that game had thirty five points for Baylor and
he just he from three point range ten for twelve.
They are, as Todd said, the top three point shooting
team in the country. Of course, once Baylor started the

(01:07:35):
conference tournament, they barely won the opener against a wof
for Kansas State team, and then they lost the next
round Conference semis to Oklahoma State and Kate Cunningham. In
that game, from three point range, the Baylor Bears were
six for twenty eight. We've seen it happen where they
fall in love with the three when it's not hitting.
In this tournament, they can't go a whole game like that.

(01:07:56):
As good as many games as they've had hitting three
pointers and as good as overall percentages, you can shoot
yourself out of a championship that way. Tomorrow night as
the men's title game. Tonight was the women's national championship
and number one seed Stanford beat Arizona fifty three as
Arizona missed the final shot. The Wildcats shot from the

(01:08:17):
floor seventeen for fifty nine from the field, and Stanford
had defeated Arizona twice in the regular season as well.
Stanford finished first in the Pack twelve this season, four
games over Arizona. In the standings. So Stanford committed twenty
one turnovers tonight but had the defense at the end,
and they want a low scoring fifty fifty three. I
don't know anybody that's expecting fifty fifty three for the

(01:08:38):
men's finals tomorrow night. We can update the Sunday Night
ball game. It is still going in Anaheim because the
White Sox tied it in the top of the ninth.
It's now four four White Sox and Angels one out
in the bottom of the night. The Halos do have
a couple of men on how the game got tied.
On the top of the night. The closer came on
for the Angels hit batter sacrifice and a pictures throwing

(01:09:00):
air games at four four for crying out loud. Yeah
you think it was Red Sox Yankees to start the
season for Sunday Nights, sho hey Otani not only bat
at second for the Angels tonight, he was the starting pitcher.
He homered in the bottom of the first came out
in the fifth inning. He is sore covering home after
a collision. They said he came out for baseball reasons,

(01:09:21):
not because he was injured. And by the way, Arnie
the stat that there has been a picture homer in
the first inning, It just wasn't in the American League,
National League, or Carlos Zambrano of the Cubs in two
thousand six. Twice that season, a starting pitcher for the
Cubs homered in the first inning. Effect. I looked it

(01:09:41):
up in OH six. He hit six homers that year
and was a great pitch. Of course, he only had
five other hits the whole season, but still an amazing
stat to pass along. Everything's final in the NBA the
late game Denver with a strong finish beat Orlando one
to one O nine. Amazing stats still from a guy
who is a center, Nick Koli Yokich in this game. Yes,

(01:10:05):
I'll get to that in a moment. Thank you. Yokich
has head fifteen assists games six different times. No other
center in the three point era going back forty years
has ever had a fifteen assist game. He did it
yet again tonight. The home run was a three run
shot that has just ended this game. Seven four Angels.

(01:10:26):
Jared Walsh, who had homered earlier, gets the three run
shot the game winner in the bottom of the night.
Seven four Angels Dodgers in Houston each one again, Baltimore
and Philadelphia each one again. Each is three and oh
in the early season. Tomorrow National's Braves postponed due to COVID,
but Washington season will start on Tuesday. No new positives
in their recent round of testing Jordan's speed when the

(01:10:48):
Texas opened by two strokes in San Antonio. The Master
starts Thursday, chance of rain there by Friday. Today was
speace first victory since the British Open. He went eighty
two starts on the p g A Tour without a
win until this weekend. And also, guys, John Ram's wife,
this is one of the better golfers in the world.
John Rom was there as his wife gave birth this

(01:11:09):
weekend news because he had said he would leave the
Masters this week if she went into labor, then that
has been taken care of. Back to you. You know what,
if I was winning the Masters and my wife went
into labor, I'm sorry, you gotta leave me alone. I
gotta go win the Master. I think you may be
right on that. I think I have to rethink that.

(01:11:30):
Just Augusta, Agusta and you're good to go. Yeah, that's
what zoom is for, right, don't tell me, I gotta
focus on Are you kidding me? If I did, Dad,
if I tried to put hunting Listen, I'm gonna win
them out. What is that more important to you than
your kids and your family and your life. Oh you'll
hear that the rest of your life. Now, they won't

(01:11:51):
name him Augusta. They'll name him like missing Dad. It's like, hey,
here comes your son, missing Dad. M d let's go
baby three, go ahead. But you're putting a loath place
right I. I gotta get into some of these tweets
real quick. It's uh two part here the Mason Mahler
who loves me Rightes tell Plank Lawn Order is a
TV show. No, no, it's not. It's not real life.

(01:12:12):
It's real life. Dope. What do you think I'm being.
I'm being facetious quick, taking things so seriously. But he
is writing this. Watson is dealing with real life events,
hardened like his Buzzby Like this Buzzby clown gets his
chance to look into the character of Watson's accusers, and
now we get to see who's really shady. Civil is
not criminal? Well no bleep, uh nature boy, Rightes, My

(01:12:35):
spidy senses are telling me to Shawn may not be
the choir boy we were originally thought. I'm basing that
on my own law and order vieeling. See. Are you
gotten surprised? More people have not, I'm talking about outside
the sports world, have not been talking about something like this.
You know what I mean? Um, that it hasn't hit
like the Today's Show, the Good Morning America's circuit thing.

(01:12:55):
I'm gonna think if it was a different sport, um,
And I don't know why would make a difference, because
the NFL is the biggest sport, But I wondering if
it's a different sport, if you're having a different type
of result. Um, I do think, though I agree, there's
so much still unknown about this right now. I'm not
a big believer in Tony Buzzby, and that's part of

(01:13:15):
why there is this hesitation. I didn't I don't want
to buy into the conspiracy theory, but it is pretty
damn interesting right He lives down the street from cal McNair.
He's acted goofy whenever asked about It's like, I don't
even know who owns the texts. You live in Houston.
Everyone knows who owns the text A lot of that
seems very odd to me. I think you had known

(01:13:38):
that before you're taking the job, you know, all right, right,
all right, But again, it's just it's it's fat. It's
fascinating to see where we are. I'm surprised you didn't
lead with the big story today. Oh yeah, what was that? Well,
we mentioned your Arizona Wildcats. Could you imagine if we
had Ryan Fowler on today? You know what he's talking about.
Did you see that Brush Young through four touch job
bass in Alabama's first spring scrimmage. You're not gonna believe it.

(01:14:03):
Rice Young's a stud. They'll do that. They'll do that.
I'm just telling you guys right now, they'll do that.
If I'm mourning you more people watch, that might be right.
I know, I know you're right. He's telling you, right you,
And this is that this is what sucks about recruiting, y'all,

(01:14:23):
is Alabama doesn't lose Mac Jones. Who's gonna be And
I remember when you laughed at me when I told
you he was gonna be a top ten pick who
might end up being And I think it's gonna end
up being a top ten pick. Guess who they get
to replace him? Five star. Uh wasn't wasn't He from
California had originally committed to USC five star superstar Golden

(01:14:46):
Arm Golden Boy. Yeah, bam is not going anyway. They
might even be better. What did I send you about
that turbo injury at Clemson today? Are you sure you
have the right phone number that you're sending these two?
Because I don't know if I got anything on an
in dre Clemson today? Are you sure you're not texting
your your other your other co host? No? Yeah, tayshawn

(01:15:07):
um gosh, I don't know how to say his last name. Uh,
probably tore his achilles. He was slated to be the
backup quarterback this year to d J Leela. Yeah, Ta,
I believe it's uh po ha con I believe it's
how you say his last name reportedly tore his achilles
heel during their spring games. So we're at that point
in college football where we're already at spring games, which

(01:15:30):
means now we are getting closer and closer to the
always fun offseason conversation of transfer portal news, guys leaving school,
praying everyone stays out of trouble. But yeah, we got some,
We've got some college basketball. But our excume college football
buzz coming up, aren'tie because spring balls here new coaches,
your boyot in Arizona. Right, I sent your excitement. Maybe

(01:15:53):
I'm ready to roll. I can't get any worse than
it was. It's got to get better, all right. So
this week, since you brought up college football, I've got
some NFL draft news that we need to get to.
We had an interesting perspective given on one Justin Fields,
and as you all like to know, I dig the
offseason Peter King football in Football Morning in America. College

(01:16:17):
don't read it during the season for some reason, but
offseason I'm all in. And he has some interesting perspective
from Ryan Day on Justin Fields and what was just
a loony week whenever it comes to his work, ethic
and perspective on him. We'll get to that next. Plus,
Steve de Seger gets us caught up on everything coming
up next right here on Fox Sports Radio. Oh, I

(01:16:38):
like this. Where did you find this? Ryan? I found
that I played on my local show. I do we
have the Arnie song? A r n I E rnie
rny Arnie. Well, it's a great way to welcome in.
Steve di Seger club here tonight, big time tonight. Well,

(01:17:03):
what one night out of fifty two weeks, We're getting
to the national championship tomorrow night. It's the matchup we
finally wanted. And something about some of these teams games
during the tournament tells you what kind of team they are,
maybe what we can expect tomorrow night. First off, as
one seeds, they had easy opponents in the first round,

(01:17:23):
but Baylor eventually, after a slow start, not only beat
up Hartford in the first round, Baylor had fifteen steals
and the opponent only had nineteen baskets in the game.
And we saw the steels and how good Baylor is
that Later in the tournament, gonzag in its first round
game nearly scored a hundred points and they were the
top scoring team in the country easily two points a game,

(01:17:44):
and the best shooting team in the country. I do
remember Baylor's coach commenting after their second round win against Wisconsin, hey,
we only had four turnovers. Now, if they can force
turnovers and have games, I mean four turnovers in a
forty minute tournament game, that was impressive. Meanwhile, the next
one is what's notable for me? The Sweet sixteen game
for Baylor. They were trailing Villanova by seven at the half,

(01:18:08):
and then they didn't settle for threes in the second half.
They shot fifty three percent from the floor in the
second half. They came back to win by double digits,
and they kept getting steels. Villanova was best in the
country at turnovers per game, under nine per game, but
against Baylor they had turnovers on five straight possessions at
one point and sixteen turnovers in the game. Is that

(01:18:29):
the Baylor team we're gonna see show up? Meanwhile, Gonzaga,
the shooting has been there, not just the points we
mentioned last night. How well U c l a played
and still Theag's out shot him. When Gonzaga won its
Sweet sixteen game, it was six shooting as they killed Crayton.
Notable for Baylor last night. And I know their game
over Houston, it wasn't a good game, and also for

(01:18:51):
obvious reasons, it will get overlooked because of what came after.
But they were playing a two seed in Houston and
a Houston team that had one of the best fences
in the country. Houston had held opponents to just thirty
nine percent shooting this year. That part was best in
the country. So what does Baylor do? They shot fifty
three percent this path month. In the tournament, a Houston

(01:19:13):
opponent had scored more no more than sixty one points.
Baylor had nearly eighty points last night, and the draft
stock for Davean Mitchell goes up and up. Eleven assists,
no turnovers for Baylor. Again, it's the matchup we've wanted.
We finally get it. I do have the network TV
ratings from last night. By comparison, when u c l
A won its regional final on Tuesday night against Michigan,

(01:19:35):
that was a TBS game, but still for cable that
was nearly seven million viewers, so pretty good last night.
Second place in the TV ratings. The Eastern weekend tradition
the Ten Commandments on ABC that got four million viewers.
Basketball got ten point seven million viewers for CBS last night.
That was the average for the Gonzaga U c l

(01:19:57):
A game in prime time, and in fact, it got
over twelve million viewers by the end of the game.
The average was ten point seven though, which puts it
in range of say that Clemson at Notre Dame double
overtime football game last season that was about ten million
viewers in prime time. The Clemson Notre Dame Conference championship

(01:20:18):
was about ten million viewers as well last season when
the Dodgers clinched the pen at Game seven, the comeback
against the Braves, that was about ten million viewers last
October and again this last night. Gonzaga overtime the buzzer
beater against U c L a ten point seven million
for ratings. Exactly Sunday night is Saturday night usually not

(01:20:40):
I did mention on the previous show. Tonight is the
ten year anniversary of the worst championship game ever ever
played in our lifetime, when Butler scored forty one points
in a forty minute game and still let at the
half against Connecticut. The Huskies wound up winning the championship
as Butler shot nineteen from the floor in a national

(01:21:00):
title game. I looked it up with six minutes to
go or so the score was forty one UK. Butler
had twenty eight points in a championship with about six
minutes to go. Kind of amazing. I forgot all about that,
And yeah, so it's the year after that he had

(01:21:20):
the Remember at the buzzer was kind of like exactly
wherever we heard that before, and notable that not just
Arizona lost the title game and the women's final four tonight,
the Stanford win and what they went through. Stanford was
on the road for nearly ten weeks due to the virus,
eighty six nights in hotels, including all those games in

(01:21:44):
San Antonio recent weeks, and they take the title. It's
Stanford's third national title with this coach Tara Vanderveer. Her
teams were also champs in nine two. So now in
women's hoops there have been four different national champs in
the last four years since Yukon won four in a row.
Love it great stuff tonight to Sager when we come back,

(01:22:04):
buy or sell Arnie's picks. And I am immersing myself
in dorking out on the NFL draft unlike you've ever seen, Arnie.
I'm starting to buy into Zach Wilson a little bit more.
But I'm really curious about this quote unquote internal struggle
that's going on right now. According to s n Y
with the New York Jets, could the faction that wants

(01:22:27):
Sam Donald to stick around end up winning the battle?
Will debate it next Hour three Coming up next with
Arnie and Plank right here on Fox Sports Radio. We
are fifty minutes away from what everyone came forward tonight,
maybe less than that. What am I gonna pick other
than the game tomorrow? Though? Baseball? You got the Masters?

(01:22:49):
Got a lot going on this week? What the Masters
isn't a big deal to you? Yeah, I guess it is. Okay,
I guess it is. I think it's funny when I
have to fire you up about sports. It's like, Artie,
there's sports going on, it's not It's not an Arizona
then or a football game exactly. Not to try to

(01:23:11):
give it away, but which way are you leaning right
now for tomorrow night? Do you want to save it? Okay? Yeah?
But I don't know against the spread though, I don't
know if I'm gonna have him covered the spread or not. Wow,
let's stop with the Kiss of Death. I like that
sound effect for the Kiss of Death. By the way,
I think, I think I like two things that Ryan's

(01:23:33):
brought to the show tonight. I like the stephens song. Well,
I like our conversations, right, but I like the Stephen's song,
which is fantastic though, aren't found that? Is that true?
Or no? Yeah, I don't believe I did fight I
played that locally. Maybe I took it from you and
I put it to my vocals. I guess that could
be it. I like, I like how you give yourself

(01:24:01):
credit and then you've got a one eddie. Wait a minute,
Maybe I did steal it from you and I put
it on my local show. Uh. And I have truly
appreciated the kiss of Death sounded because and I'm sure
there's some big twelve Homerism in this for me, because
this is my beat, this is what I cover, this
is where I live. I think Baylor's gonna beat him,
and I think guys like uh Macy O t I

(01:24:23):
think Davean Mitchell, I think Mark Vital they're gonna be
They're gonna be bringing it. Tomronto, I'll tell you always
gonna be the biggest key I think period in this game.
Drew Timmy, I think he is. I think that we've
got superstars everywhere, and this sense seems wild to say, right,
Baylor has the superstars, aren't They've got the biggest names,
They've got two first round picks, They've got maybe a

(01:24:44):
guy in Jalen Sucks. It could go number one overall,
but no one really has that dominant inside presence for Baylor.
And I think in all of these names that we're
talking about, I think Timmy could have And you brought
this up quite a bit tonight that you think in
Zaga might try to pound it down low and give
little physical with them. I I said Baylor should do
that if I'm okay with well, I'm coming right out

(01:25:08):
of the gate and I'm just driving. I'm I'm trying
to go ahead and see if you're ready, if or
if they have an emotional hangover from the U c
l A game. I'm just talking about the first minute
of play. I'm not gonna settle for threes. I want
to see, um, what they're gonna do defensively and um
just to see how their body motion is, how they
react because that was a very draining game on Saturdays.

(01:25:29):
I want to see if they're gonna be ready for
Monday's game. I gotta be honest with you. I I
don't know. I don't know how Bag, how Gonzag is
gonna react. And we've talked about this quite a bit.
I don't know how Gonzag is gonna react to this
whole being pushed. Maybe it brings out a whole another
side of them. Maybe they are a little bit war out,
but I think they'll be okay about it. But if

(01:25:49):
I've coached few, I'm telling them, you know, if you
lose this game the Baylor, then that win over U c.
L A was completely worth this and the whole season
is worthless. So you better go out there and win
because if you lose the US forget about it. It's
all means nothing to you. All right, let's play a
little uh well, listen, here's your choice. Do you want
to start some buyer cell now or do you want
to get into the Justin Fields controversy. You're let's get

(01:26:10):
the Justin Fields controversy first. That okay, So as as
you all know that, listen to the show. I'm a
big draft guy. I love the NFL Draft. I've been
begging to get on our draft coverage, but apparently my
infactuation with what the Raiders are doing at seventeen, and
only what the Raiders are doing at seventeen, has kind
of precluded me from being allowed to go anymore in
depth with that set. I thought we had a fascinating

(01:26:32):
case study army and one of the great challenges in
this offseason and the dangers of trying to be that guy.
And let me go ahead and get all that. I
gotta go like eminem eight mile. Yes, Danilovsky has a
better job than me. Yes he's on ESPN, Yes he's
on every show. Yes he's better looking than me. Yes
he played in the NFL. But he's a dope for

(01:26:53):
what he did this week. Wow. Wow. Here's why because
he knows better and every and here's the here's here's
the other part of it. I think ESPN came came
across looking really bad too, because if you're embraced debate,
I think it's healthy to have two dudes like Kirk
curb Street and Dani Rolovski get after it, Arenie, right,
I mean, isn't that what what we're all? I watched

(01:27:13):
all these shows and guys are yelling at each other,
and then it gets a little bit too real for you,
and Kirk curb Street goes out there and says, this
guy is full of it, and suddenly we're like, whoa, hey,
you two separated. No, that's what this is all about,
That's what this process is. You y'all tell me that
we're supposed to be going at it, and we're supposed
to have our opinions, right, aren'tie, and you sent me
the story. They had a little sit down and told

(01:27:36):
him they gotta be nice to each other. What are
we doing right now? And then and then he went
ahead and backtrack the one eight and said the two
other sources of Lawski and said, um no, he is
a great hard worker, and um you know, and which
is a bunch of boding. I don't think he spoke
to anybody and that told them that. I think he
just was backtracking and trying to cover his back. So

(01:27:58):
here here is if you missed it, if you missed
any of this madness, this back and forth. Here was
the first round on Pat McAfee show with dani Orlovsky
and his take on one Justin Fields. I have heard
that he is a last guy in, first guy out
type of quarterback, like not the maniacal work ethic. I've
even heard it compared to Justin Herbert where it was

(01:28:19):
like dude, when Justin Herbert showed up, it was like
a psychopath. When it came to working to get ready
for the draft or even at school, like give me more,
I want to work NonStop and I've heard that there
are some questions with Justin fields work ethic. So that
was round one, right, that was I've I've got the

(01:28:41):
hottest take. I'm gonna show you now do I I
don't think that that dan Orlovsky made that up. I
really I don't think he went out and I'm sure
there's but I think I listen to if everyone do
themselves a favor. And I know John hasn't been on
with us in a couple of weeks, but do listen
to John middle COFs podcast about this. And by the way, also,

(01:29:03):
I'm at it plugging one of our other guys here
on Fox Sports Radio, Jeff Schwartz, his podcast, Jeff Schwartz
is smarter than you. Hits on this too, Arnie. It
doesn't take much. With the lack of time, scouts, g ms,
everyone has had to be around these guys to allow
your opinion to be shaped by something that's not true.

(01:29:24):
And it's lying season anyway, right, and we get into
the so you know, you're not getting these opportunities to
go one on one with guys. They haven't been in
their practices, they can't go in their facilities. Everyone's talking
over zoom or it's a phone call and you can
only get so much through that. So when you say, oh,
that's just that's just a hot take guy out there,

(01:29:45):
I'm telling you this year more than ever. I mean,
you're right that it's someone that's that's thrown out an
opinion and you're allowed to have it. But when you
question a guy's work ethic Arnie, I think that's when
we're getting into a situation where it can really do
a lot of damage. He he wasn't throwing out opinion, Chris,
he was. He was giving you a reports report. His
report was he spoke to two people that are familiar

(01:30:08):
with the situation that said Justin Fields is the first
guy out and the last guy in. That that's was
his report. And when you talk about the draft, and
you hit it right there was that there's a lot
of lying from NFL teams about who they're gonna take,
who they're interested in, who they're scouting, and they want
that to get out. He should know better, um than

(01:30:30):
to take two reports. And by the way, the other
two reports just came out out of the blue after
he said that, refuting him. What makes those two reports
any more you know, possible than the other two reports,
I think the all things ridiculous. So if you're wondering
what Arnie's referring to, Dan took to Twitter to clarify,
backtrack however you want to put it. I have heard

(01:30:52):
those things from teams, um, and they might feel that way,
and um, this is also a season where teams are
trying to say things to potentially get a guy to
drop to them. And so I've just wanted to clarify
and put it out there that, like, listen over the
last twenty four hours and more digging that it seems
or it sounds like Justin Fields's work ethic is fantastic.

(01:31:13):
And that's coming from two people who have who have
worked directly close to him, you know. And it's also
odd because and I know work ethic now is if
you're saying he's the last guy in, first guy out.
And the whole premise of the question was, and I
kind of in the same group, why are we not
talking about Justin Fields more? Why is this not a
conversation to where everyone's losing their mind over Zach Wilson.

(01:31:37):
But put on Ohio State tape and outside of the
Big Ten Championship game against Northwestern and thrown a couple
of picks against Indiana. He's doing all that same stuff
against better competition, right, And that was the response to it.
So I just I'll tell you what, Arnie, this is
gonna be a fascinating case study over the next few
weeks to see what more we're less than a month
removed from the old will Zach Wilson wasn't popular with

(01:31:59):
his teammate and wasn't a team captain, right, I mean
that that was the first thing that came out, So
it's crazy. Do you know who our lobskis um sources
when he refuted it and said, oh I hear he
works harder than anybody? Do you know sources was on
that great question? I do not. I think it was

(01:32:19):
Justin Fields, right, well, he did call Justin Field. Justin
probably said that's not true. I work harder than everybody else.
So that that's got to be the zwords. If it
isn't Fields, who else would the swords be. There's a
lot of ways, though, I think, to where you can
look at Justin Fields and say, this guy's kind of
shown he's got a certain it to him. I remember

(01:32:40):
that shot he took against Clemson. Yes, I mean he
played on and and played in the championship game. Remember
whenever you and I were sitting here and we were
wondering if we were even going to get a football season?
Do you know who was active with Trevor Lawrence to
try to make sure that the football season even happened?
Justin Fields didn't have to do that, and he did,

(01:33:01):
and he pushed for it. So I don't I just
I find it to be fascinating how this became such
a hot topic. This Do you think sometimes it's it's
t M I too much information? I mean, should shouldn't
I be able to um draft just as well as
anybody else just by watching four years of football college football? Uh?
With you and Torres? Shouldn't I know who I want

(01:33:24):
depending on what team you're drafting for. Do I really
have to know how high you jump? I've been sure
you need to know injuries, But I do I need
to know what to run the shuttlecock in or whatever
that it is, or or whatever the thing you're doing.
I how about what you're doing the football field? That's
why so many people do a horrible job at drafting.
What did we find out that the hit percentage for

(01:33:47):
a good GM. Is it even like it's it's miserable.
I've had that same question and and again scouts athletic
trainers would say, well, it's about they are in actual
trainers would say, well, it's about the is and showing
the explosion. But I'm with you, Arnie, I don't need
quarterback I'm gonna say something. It's my radio show. I

(01:34:09):
don't know our radio show. I don't know why I
have to precursor that. But quarterback pro days are the
dumbest thing ever, you know, And I've decided at it.
There's two things that I'm vehemently against. Win percentages. I
think it's the dumbest thing ever. Oh you're telling me
there's a nine chance that a team that was up
ten with four minutes ago it was gonna win the game.

(01:34:29):
I'm shocked. Power rankings stupid, their standings. We know where
a team ranks. Power rankings are dumb and irrelevant. Third
quarterback pro days are not entering that mix. I mean,
it's so dumb. Left you're coming off an injury, it's dumb.
I love what there's a no matter who's throwing the
ball didn't hit the ground once it show well, I thought,

(01:34:51):
My thing is, well, how about if the receiver just
dropped it? That end up happened at all. I mean,
somebody like me was catching passes the drop five of
them where you wouldn't take it out of the quarterback,
which it happens. Receivers do drop past is I don't
know hit. No one dropped the past. It was such
a it's put right in their bread basket. Dumb. So anyway,

(01:35:11):
in one of my favorite Final Hour conversation starters, Peter
King had this update on justin Fields. He writes, what
I know in conversations with people from two teams, not
two people, but people around two teams that are stuttering
the quarterbacks are studying the quarterbacks at top the draft.

(01:35:32):
I didn't hear any negatives on fields, worth, work, ethic,
or drive. One of these teams could well be in
position to take one of the top quarterbacks, and this
team has dug deep into the top passers. One of
our problems in the business, particular before the draft is
many of us don't cover the college game. There you

(01:35:53):
go a statement of honesty from and and for the
most part, a lot of NFL guys s all over
college game. You know, it's like, oh, well, they're in
a type of offense and this offense is is college.
And then all of a sudden, you get to the
point to where it's time to start studying him and
see how he's gonna actually end up relating to the NFL.
And then you gotta go back and you gotta pretend

(01:36:15):
like you've been following him his whole career. So I
gotta tell you something, Marty, I Justin Fields is my
number two quarterback. And again I'm you know me, uh,
this isn't This isn't Mr X And oh I'm not
Mr Scout study because you know what I saw Justin
Fields do so him do it on the field against
the best in college football. So that to me says,
I don't care what offense he's in. This was a

(01:36:37):
dude that was a five star out of him. Do
it on the field and get it. I'm not because
if we're gonna do that, then then mac Jones should
be the number one pick because he's on the field.
I mean, why what you just said, that's what you
should go by about, Like come with an opinion and
all of a sudden you change your whole mindset and
you make it sound like, well, I saw him win

(01:36:58):
on the football field, did you don't have? What more
do you need? I saw him win, and I saw
him doing it in an electric way, and I saw
him do it with his feet and with a cannon arm. Yeah,
I saw Mac Jones do it too. I also saw
Mac Jones do it with first round receivers a first
round off right. But but if if that's gonna be
your take, then you hated Joe Burrow coming out because

(01:37:19):
he had he had two first round picks and receiver
he had first round picks everywhere. So yeah, I saw
him do on the field, and I saw him do
it to where he won games by being special. What's
a bigger, bigger criticism that you've played on a great team.
So um, yeah, nothing to worry about the receivers were
always five yards open, or the fact that you come
from like North Dakota State or something like. Right, what's

(01:37:42):
worse now? And it depends on which I guess war
room you're in, Right, I tend to think that if
you've shown you can do it with elite talent, there's
not a lot of places where you go in the
NFL that don't have the dudes that were the best
players on their college football teams. So you've shown you
can do it with elite talent. And part of this,
I think for me is I just think we've lost

(01:38:03):
our minds over Zach Wilson. I and I know you
like him, Artie, and I know Jets fans are are
trying to like him, and and I love his story.
Oh he was driving ubers in the off season. Well
guess what who cares? I mean, can can you handle
the pressure of New York because you might stink for
a couple of weeks. You've never been anywhere other than

(01:38:24):
Utah and you're playing career and no knock on Utah.
I love Utah, but New York City and Utah are
two different worlds. So I just I'm not I'm not
a big fan right now, and I've got some studying
to do, but I'm a big fan of Justin Fields
and Arnie. That took me by surprise when I heard
that this week. Yeah, I look, God, I'm just surprised
he said that. I still like uh Wilson at number two, though,

(01:38:46):
and I think he's still will be the number two pick.
When it's all said, You're probably right. You're probably right.
In the end, he's probably gonna go number two, and
maybe the Jets have made up their mind. But right
now it's still crazy time. When we come back. Speaking
of crazy time, by herself, it's a championship game, it
is plus some more NFL draft by herself. I'll pose
a few scenarios to Arnie for I guess the next

(01:39:06):
few weeks, maybe even a potential move or two that
could still be made. We'll see if Arnie's with me
are against me. We'll dive into it next with Arnie
and Plank on Fox Sports Radio. That's me yay. I
think I've got myself a new open song too, Let's go.
There is the song that actually it's kind of funny.

(01:39:28):
There was a cartoon. I think it's someone will call
me out on this on Twitter, and that's fine. At
Plank Show as Stinking Genius one, there's a commercial that's
like ed Eddie and Eddie or something like that, and
they have a song called My Best Friend Plank. Oh really,
I think that needs to be the theme song for
the show tonight. There's Hello Arnold. I've seen that. Come

(01:39:50):
Hey Arnold. Alright, it's Arnie and plank on a on
an awesome Sunday night into a Monday when we have
a national champ and ship game later tonight. Arnie's picks
coming up in just a bit, but it's time for
buy or sell before we get there. We want you
to enjoy spalight comfort and save big on your water

(01:40:10):
bill with Navvy and tankless water heaters. Go tankless with
Navy and you can save hundreds on a new Navy
and tankless water heater and local rebates. Visit Tankless made
simple dot com. It's tankless made Simple dot Com. All right,
buy or sell, Arnie. The u c L Eggen Zagga
game was one of the top five greatest buzzer beaters

(01:40:32):
in in C double A tournament history. I'll say yes,
I don't even know if I can remember five other
I got my list? You ready, Okay? Well again, I
was in the you know, you live in the moment,
and I wonder if we you know, putting up a
little bit higher because we didn't have anything last year. Um,
and you know what, it was just such a great
ending and a great game all the way around. I'm

(01:40:53):
gonna have to say yes, I'm gonna top five. So
here was my top five. Okay, let me here right. Well,
we'll do this real quick. I don't get too carried
away because I hate lists, but yet here I have
a list in my love. I'm going to reach number five,
Tis Edney because I know it was only the Coast though. Yeah,
it was a sweet sixteen game. It was a shot
right before the buzzer. But US won the national title

(01:41:14):
that year, so they don't win that game, they're not
going to the top. That's number five, number four Christian
Lightner in the Elite eight against number three Jalen Suggs
game winning basket against u c l A, Number two
Lorenzo Charles tipp In North Carolina State ninety four, and
number one Chris Jenkins Villanova two thousand and sixteen. I

(01:41:36):
think the eighty four and twenty six team could be
interchanged there. But Arnie I had it at number three.
Danny Ainge going Coast to Coast didn't make that list.
I'm shocked. I can't believe that. I don't even remember
when that happened. To be honest, I think beat Notre
Dame and he went coast to coast or made a
shot to win the game. I see and I had
I had rules here. Now, if it's like a first
or second round game and your team didn't end up

(01:41:57):
winning a title or getting to the Elite eight or
Final four, then what good is it? It's just a
buzzer Because Bryce Drews was incredible. That was an incredible shot,
an incredible play to beat Old Miss, and that would
probably be number one if it wasn't it was a
first round game. Take George's shot for Yukon was incredible. That,

(01:42:20):
if I remember correctly, eliminated Elden Campbell and the Clemson Tigers,
whom I had going to really forced the USC on
the last second shot three corn. That was a great
believe They did believe that. But there's my five. Do
with it as you please, but please please please remember
it's for entertainment purposes. So you're you're buying that it
it belongs to that conversation, right. Okay, how about we

(01:42:43):
talked about this very early. We'll we'll wrap up our
buy or Sell College Basketball edition before the SEGA rolls
in here. Buy or sell, Arnie. The team with the
most pressure tomorrow night or later tonight, depending on where
you're catching us, is Gonzaga. Yes, I'm gonna buy that. Also.
Of course it's out to be Gonzaga. They're undefeated. Uh,
I mean we we've talked about all the numbers. The

(01:43:04):
last time a team went undefeated one of the championship
nineteen seventy six Indiana Hoosiers. Um tons of pressure on them.
I still don't think I'm gonna consider them as one
of the all time greats. I don't even think they'll
be better than some of the teams that may have
lost like one or two or three games or anything
like that. But um, yeah, they'll have more pressure. Baylor
is you know, I guess house money they have really

(01:43:26):
nothing to fear. But you know, they wore the number
two team in the country, so you know they should
are supposed to have pressure. But based on what Gonzaga
has done, it's all on Gonzaga right now. Yeah, and
then I want to I want to throw one more
little kind of caveat to this because when after the
saker's up there, we're going straight football with so maybe

(01:43:46):
even maybe a little baseball too, But already buy or sell.
This has been a good n C Double A tournament.
I'm buying it. You know, I'll tell you what I'm
starting to think we're having more upsets this year because
we had it all in one central location. I know
we can't do that every year because these cities need
the economy, but um, you know, it's a lot different

(01:44:08):
than when you keep getting Zaga on the West coast
and it's easy for their fans to make the trip
that it makes it harder to pull off the upset.
So yeah, I think it's been great having everybody in
one location and getting these upsets and and finally having
the UM top teams at the end there. I missed
the Dukes and the Kentucky's and the and the schools

(01:44:30):
like that, but it's still been a great tournament, all right. Uh,
we're getting at the fans more than anything. That the
students screaming, painting their faces, you know, yelling and hollering
and um go to the game. That that's the part
I missed when it comes to March rat this also.
You know when I found myself really missing the fans
was when I went back to research and watched some

(01:44:50):
of these final shots. I was and you saw I
mean again, I wasn't two thousand sixteen when Nova hit
that game winner, Arnie, I was out because Oklahoma, I've
been smoked in the final four games, so I was
very bitter. But when you saw the crowd reaction, You're like,
oh my gosh, this is what we're missing. Even even
in eighty four, whenever you got into Mexico, they're running

(01:45:11):
all over the place that the Elite eight game. It's
just their their incredible crowd reactions. So I'm with you,
and I was kind of against you on that last
week before for a while, but I think I've done
a one e d Alright, final time tonight we'll continue
by Herself Football Edition next, but first Steve to Seger
comes strolling into raph and recap everything that went on

(01:45:32):
in the world of sports. What's going on? Steve, very
good memory from one Arnie span your on the n
c A tournament. This is back when it was on
NBC with and by five seconds inside eight stars but
t seconds like one second, it's all over. I looked

(01:45:54):
it up. That was Sweet sixteen and then b y,
you did lose the next game, the regional final to
the seed Virginia, and guess what, the Virginia Cavaliers won
the third place game at the Final four. After the
semifinalserrow before hopefully it won't go over time, and then
there will be an hour pregame show for CBS before

(01:46:17):
we get to it. The men's title game is tomorrow night,
number one ranking Zaga thirty one and oh against Baylor,
which dominated Houston and at semi last night, the women's
title tonight with the Stanford fifty three over Arizona, which
missed the final shot. The Wildcat sent from the floor
Jordan's speech when the Texas opened by two strokes. It
was the first victory form since the British Open, and

(01:46:40):
the Master starts Thursday. Chance of rain there at Augusta
by Friday off, I won't make him now he's now
officially hot. Actually NASCAR was off for Easter weekend. The
next race is Saturday night on FS one from Martinsville.
The Exfinity Race will be Friday night on FS one.
The late NB A game went to Denver in a

(01:47:01):
comeback over Orlando. Five straight wins for the Nuggets. Nicola
Yokich had sixteen assists. New Orleans did not have Zion
Williamson or Brandon Ingram again due to injuries, so Lonzo
Ball from three point range was eight for fifteen twenty
seven points in a win at Houston, and the Rockerds
record falls to thirteen and thirty six. Celtics are at

(01:47:21):
pack at the five mark after ripping Charlotte. Remember Gordon
Hayward missing at least a month for Charlotte with a
sprained foot. Memphis dominated at Philadelphia. They rested Joel and
Bead after he'd returned for Philly last night from injury.
Atlanta beat Golden State, won seventeen one eleven Steph Curry
thirty seven points, eight turnovers. At least it was closed.
Remember Golden State lost its previous game by fifty three

(01:47:44):
against Toronto. Clippers beat the Lakers today. Lakers have lost
six of nine. Lebron James, Anthony Davis, Andre Drummond out again.
Chicago ended a six game losing streak with a win
over Brooklyn. The Clippers, by the way, will give to
Marcus Cousins at ten day contract this week. According to
The Athletic, Walkee gave Drew Holiday a four year extension.
He'll learn thirty million dollars next season and then more

(01:48:05):
after that. He is averaging seventeen points, five rebounds, five
assists per game. The late ballgame in Anaheim went to
the Angels, who are three and one on the young season.
Bottom of the ninth home run from Jared Walsh his
second of the ninth and Matt fa scursion, a veteran
baseball announcer Southern California native who's gonna do Angel games

(01:48:25):
this year. His home run call was he went to
Jared seven before Angels beat the White Sox. White Sox
offense with runners in scoring position oh for eleven, Shoheyotani
says he's okay, we'll see the trainers tomorrow. He came
out in the fifth inning, he sore after covering home
and being involved in a collision. Dodgers or three and
one after winning at Colorado, Julio or rehearsed the win.

(01:48:48):
The Dodger offense got three runs in the first on
a wild pitch, a basis loaded walk, and a double
play that turned out to be the key to the game.
Scoring that way. Arizona beat the Padres. Padres record now
three n one, Hughes and four and oh after dominating
at Oakland again nine to two, and Philadelphia and Baltimore
each three and oh after wins that Philly wind was
with a run in the bottom of the eighth to

(01:49:09):
one over Atlanta. The Braves Nationals game tomorrow has been
postponed due to COVID with Washington, but the Washington season
finally will start on Tuesday. COVID news tonight briefly from
the NHL as Dallas even you know one nothing loss
to Carolina did not have its head coach Rick Bonus.
He missed the third period due to COVID protocols. They
pulled him, but the team thinks it was a false positive.

(01:49:32):
Anything but that. With the Vancouver Canucks, they are still
off due to massive COVID issues. And guys, remember it's
not only a shortened season for the NHL they started late,
but there's an All Canadian division. No travel for teams
back and forth across the border. Well, this is really
bad news for Canada. On the Canucks active roster, they
have twenty two players, sixteen of the two are on

(01:49:55):
the protocol list with the NHL right now. The postponed
game coming up in a couple of nights will be
the forty five game on the schedule pushed back by
the league. Most of the first thirty five or so
we're American games. This is just starting things up there,
and so, as we mentioned last night, the NHL season
will likely not end on May eleven as schedule, at

(01:50:16):
least not for the Canadian teams. More than twenty players
and coaches with Vancouver if tested positive. There some Vancouver
players were reportedly very ill, and the outbreak is extended
to some players families. And of course it's not just
the virus, it's mutant from South America as they haven't
seen it, and it's spreading, and it's BC not just
the team, and it's not good right now for the

(01:50:38):
Canadian division of the NHL. In fact, even one of
the players wives tweeted, I can't believe people are upset
that we're not getting a game for what we're going
through here. So there is some seriousness to this at
the moment. Essentially, as we mentioned last night, the NHL
is treating Vancouver as if the entire team is going
to test positive. They're not just off for a for
a week, and they've been off for almost a week already.

(01:50:59):
Back to you, thanks, Steve, have a great week, buddy.
Can't wait till next Sunday night. Here on Fox Sports Radio,
we're in the middle of buy or sell. But before
we go any further, I want to remind you that
the Stinking Genius is currently sitting in a tie for
fourth place, and after that Saturday night there's only a
few team standings, so be sure to check where you rank.

(01:51:22):
And Fox Sports Radio's M Drive a million Dollar Bracket
Challenge and Fox Sports Radio dot Com. There wasn't anything
close to a perfect bracket, but still up for grabs
is a thousand dollar gift card for the listener in
first place, three second place, and two hundred for third place.
As we talked about earlier, Andrew c is in first
place as we had the championship game, and Aaron trres

(01:51:43):
he should he should be leading. He's our college basketball guy.
He better be leading. He's leading the host bracket. The
full standings can be accessed at Fox Sports Radio dot com.
It's the M Drive Million Dollar Bracket Challenge refined your
prime with him Drive. Sorry that you're upset with fourth place,
Arnie could be worse. You could be in like thirteen.

(01:52:05):
I was in dead last after like the first two rounds.
I probably shouldn't have taken Yukon to the final four.
Uh I already have reaction to my list, Paul writes,
how you have late nerd for is crazy full court
past two seconds to get off the shot Duke was losing.
It's definitely number one. Uh well, hard to argue with

(01:52:27):
two shots in one a national championship. Skip Bayles said,
because it was a lucky shot, it wasn't one of
the all time best. All right, An, I know it's
against the laws here, Hey, buyer Sell, Larnie, let's let's
shift to some non college basketball conversations. Alright, I'm not

(01:52:48):
getting political here, but I didn't want to mention one
baseball note before we have some fun with football. Buyer Sell,
baseball made a mistake pulling the All Star game out
of Atlanta. Um. I'm not saying they made a mis steak.
Maybe we should have thought it out a little bit more. UM.
I certainly don't like the new laws down there, But
then again, UM, you don't like to tie you that

(01:53:08):
in and take away the economy from Atlanta, which is primarily, um,
you know, a minority city too, so you know that
it's kind of like defeating the purpose in a way. So, UM,
I understand why we did it. I'm just not sure.
UM I like the way it all came down agreed,
and that's a great way to handle it. Okay, Arnie
buyer sell NFL, your number two quarterbacks should be justin

(01:53:34):
Fields and instead of Zack Wilson. You know you can't
go wrong either way, which is why San Francisco tread
it up to number three to see whoever would fall
into their lap. Um. So I'm gonna say no, I'm
gonna sell that. I think We'll would be a fine
number two pick. He's he's got the skills. I do
have some questions about him, and I do question about

(01:53:55):
the um a little bit about the captain thing, but
it is a ability I don't question at all. I
don't question justin Feel's ability and either so Um, it's
like who's number two and who's two A and to
be I don't think you go wrong with either one
of them. Just who you're more. You know who you're picking.
It's like you're deciding who you want a date between

(01:54:16):
two supermodels. I mean, my goodness, either way, you're not
gonna go wrong. So, and they're twins, so just pick
one and move on. I like it, all right, two
more quick ones, all right? Right, buy yoursell, Jimmy Garoppolo
will be the starting quarterback for the Niners. No, I'm
selling that, not gonna happen, No way, no, how Um,
He'll be somewhere else, So either be obviously with the

(01:54:38):
New England Patriots or somewhere else. He's he's not going
to start for San Francisco. He won't be on the
team for San Francisco. You don't trade up the number three,
so we could play one more year and you know,
be a little bit of disturbance around the clubhouse. Uh no, no, no,
you're you're moving out from him. Time to say goodbye, Jimmy,

(01:54:58):
enjoy yourself back with Bill Belichick, and then finally buy
or sell the game on the NFL schedule. While great
for fans, is actually a bad idea long term. No,
why would it be a bad idea? I'm selling that. Well,
what's what's the bad idea about that? I have known
negatives and probably gonna turn into an eighteenth game, more

(01:55:20):
regular season games and less preseason games. I I'm all
for that. Let's less you think going back to fourteen
regular season games and six preseason games is the way
to go. Can you imagine was breaking down preseason five
and this is where it really counted, Plank. They get
the stars out there there a week five on the preseason.
Now we can really pay attention. Get out of here.

(01:55:43):
I I think I'd have to take the whole month
of August off, and we're gonna do that. So no,
I think this is a good thing. Yeah, I do
hope some of the reporting is incorrect because I don't
like the idea of the end of the preseason and
having two weeks off. I I get it. I didn't
understand it. You haven't. It's it's the buzz that they'll
they'll only have three weeks and then we'll have two

(01:56:04):
weeks before the start of the season. So essentially, instead
of having an in season by Arnie, they would have
to the final week of the preseason. Then you'd have
two weeks before the start of the NFL season. Well,
usually they played the last preseason like the what Friday
and late Saturday? One game Saturday and then gives you
next stra a day or two to get you ready

(01:56:24):
for the Sunday games. Well, they look like they're gonna
give you more than a day or two. All right,
when we come back, let's get some picks. It's time
for what everyone came for tonight, Arnie's Picks to take
us home. Next on Fox Sports Radio. There you go, well, Dawn,
good job on Twitter tonight, Ryan, been fun hanging with

(01:56:46):
you tonight. Awesome job on the Wheels of Steel Lead
a lap, great producing. I can't believe we're already at
the end. Steve Di Sager on Updates. I heard that
was Ryan in the video that was misidentified as a
Raider player. It was not Bruce Camp. People stop Ryan,
and he's not ready to Ryan. Why do you do that?

(01:57:08):
It's almost as if you want to find a way
to be mean to people. I don't understand. I'm trying
to be nice. I'm just not good at it. All right, Listen,
I got a couple of notes on a potential midnight
madness for the NFL. But let's not bury the lead.
Let's not make you wait around. It's what you all
came for tonight. It's time for Arnie's Picks. Take it away,
stinking genius. Let's get right at it. Give me a

(01:57:31):
little music, put me in the mood. Let's get right
to the n C Double A Championship. Gonzaga as the
last check, the seven a half point favorite. What oh? Four?
That point favorite? Excuse me? Are you if it was
seven and a half? You and I are going to
Vegas tomorrow though it's four and a half. Um, Look, Gonzaga,

(01:57:51):
I think it's going to start off a little bit
so they're gonna have a hangover from that U c
l A game. But Chris, as you know, they are
the better team. Disrespect for Baylor. Um, they even win
games when Butler doesn't play well. Butler played well in
the Houston but everybody played well in the Houston game.
I don't think Baylor is gonna be able to keep
up with them offensively. Doesn't mean the game won't be

(01:58:13):
somewhat close. I'll take Gonzaga, lady four or four and
a half. They'll win in a right around like eight
eighty two. So the over, I guess is take the over,
which is around one sixty. So I'm going with Gonzaga
eight Baylor eight two. Also, you said bring up a

(01:58:33):
little baseball season opener for my New York Mets. That's right.
Might as well take Jacob de Gram. He's a big
two to one favorite over the Phillies. But the Phillies
are three and know how about that? Phillies are three
and oh and there are two and two point or Bradley.
They're the best team in baseball right now, Um, let's

(01:58:55):
get over to your Lakers. What you're na I like
it now. They're my Lakers. They're not your Lakers anymore.
I'm off the band wagon. Now. Your Lakers are in
big trouble. Here we go. Not only if they dropped
down to the number five seed, they'll fall behind Portland's
for the number six seed. Then they'll fall behind Dallas

(01:59:18):
for the number seven seed. Okay, and hang on and
barely stay ahead of Memphis, which means the Lakers may
play the Warriors in the first round. Good they stink.
I'd love to play the Warriors they got the other night.
I don't think you could say that about any team
in the first round with the way you're looking at
right now. And last but not least, you said you

(01:59:41):
want some pause on your your your picks. You do
realize that Lebron and Anthony Davis aren't playing right now? Right? Yeah?
I do realize. Okay, I just wanted to. And you
do realize that we'll never know when they're coming back.
Are they gonna be back by the playoffs. Okay, they're fine.
It might be too little, too late by then, no
odds on the Masters for no reason whatsoever. I'm gonna

(02:00:03):
take Brooks Kepka at twenty eight to one. What do
you think about that? Big boy? Wait? Brooks kept to one?
Who does the golf odds? I'm looking out it right
here in front of me, the favorite at nine to one,
the Shambo's ten to one, Speek eleven, the one with

(02:00:24):
Justin Thomas. Some drunk did that. If they put Speed
at eleven one just because he won last week, what
are we doing? Mci roy's nineteen the one, and then
can't Ley kept to one? And then a bunch of names.
I don't know. I'm not even kidding. I've I've never
gambled in my life. I'm well, I mean sports gambling.

(02:00:44):
I might be willing to put a few bones on
Brooks kept get just first like that? Why not? Why not?
I mean, that's I'm serious. I saw that. I go, well,
that's kind of a long shot there there, Yeah, it is.
It's a pick long shot. So there you have my picks.
Thar with them as you please, No longer strictly for

(02:01:05):
entertainment purposes, only well done any fund show tonight. I
have one more note from a man Peter King here, who,
by the way, by the way, is of the firm
belief that as of right now, which nothing really matters
as of right now in April five, but he's a
firm believer that the starting quarterback for the Niners in
Week one will be Jimmy Garoppolo. Uh. And here's something else.

(02:01:29):
Apparently the NFL is thinking seriously of a midnight madness
opening too training camp, with twenty eight teams opening on
the same date and having some fanfare accompanying it. The
new CBA calls for teams to open camp forty seven
days before their first regular season game, and so twenty

(02:01:52):
eight of the thirty two teams could open honor about Thursday, July,
the the end of fell is trying to create some
buzz around an off time on the calendar, you know,
and think about what they've done right like February, the
scouting combine, mid March, started free agency, in April the draft.
So the league is looking to and around late July

(02:02:14):
have like a midnight madness to kick off the start
of practice. I love they're gonna do it at midnight.
So also they're gonna try to pull it off that
late and everything crazy. Yeah, I mean, how many teams
actually still do midnight madness in basketball? Right? I mean
there's a handful. But you know, I think I think
you'd see an NFL network set up like Siciliana would

(02:02:35):
be there and they'll have all the guys at at
different camps. If you get sixty seventy thousand for these
college you know, practices and stuff like that, Uh, spring games,
you can certainly do that in the NFL. You know,
we got our spring game in Oklahoma coming up April.
You knew exactly what it was to day after my birthday,
and um, the thing that's funny about it is, I

(02:02:56):
think that it's going to be one of the largest
crowds even during this season. People are fired up for football.
People are fired up for football, and it's April five. Great. Hey,
